The Discovery Centre in Halifax is a modern museum featuring interactive exhibits that cover a wide range of subjects including science, technology, engineering, arts, and math. Visitors can explore permanent displays on topics such as the human body, the science of flight, and energy. The center also hosts rotating exhibitions on diverse subjects like music, video games, and the bond between humans and their pets. One highlight is an interactive climbing wall that allows kids to participate in virtual reality games.
It’s a very interactive museum for children, especially young ones. There are a total of 4 floors. There is an elevator, but can use stairs. The stairs leading to the third floor is like a piano, which was nice. There’s the innovative room on ground zero and hockey. The ocean room is very nice. All the floors were quite active. Visiting from NY, I have definitely never had a hockey “rink” in a museum. The price wasn’t too bad either. Unfortunately, the museum closes at 1600, which is quite early for me so best to make other plans if you want to stay out with kids past that time.

Great place to spend a few hours with kids(adults will love it as well!) Huge amount of exhibits and three floors to visit. Lots for all ages ranges and some snacks available as well?
Diane T — Google review
A works event was organized there - I must say, I was very impressed and surprised at how much my team had fun! This place is also great for adult, not only children... You can let loose and be a kid!!
Sophiya A — Google review
I was originally going to rate the Discovery Centre at 4/5 stars, and then I realized why I was even writing this review - I'm sitting here, watching my kids (3 and 7 years old) have an amazing time, like they do EVERY TIME. We've got a membership we keep renewing because of the value we get out of coming here with the kids - they adore this place. We come half a dozen times a year or more. And with good reason - it's got a ton of heart, and fun activities for all ages. The activities and displays are good, but the way you feel the excitement from the staff is what really has endeared us, the adults, to this place. It's a great option as part of your downtown hang in the city. Well worth the visit.

The Discovery Centre in Nova Scotia is a remarkable destination that captivates visitors through its blend of natural wonders, historical significance, and interactive experiences. Located in the heart of Halifax, this state-of-the-art facility serves as a hub for exploration and education, making it a must-visit for families, students, and tourists alike. Unique Features The Discovery Centre is designed to spark curiosity and foster a love for science and the environment. Its most important natural feature is the stunning marine exhibits that showcase the rich biodiversity of Nova Scotia's coastal waters. Visitors can explore interactive displays that highlight the province's unique ecosystems, including tidal pools and marine life. Historically, the centre pays homage to Nova Scotia's maritime heritage, with exhibits that delve into the province's storied past, including its role in shipbuilding and the fishing industry. Activities Visitors can engage in a variety of hands-on activities, including: Interactive science exhibits Live demonstrations Educational workshops Special events throughout the year The centre also features a planetarium, offering stunning shows that explore the wonders of the universe, making it an educational experience for all ages. Geographical Location Situated in Halifax, the Discovery Centre is easily accessible and surrounded by other attractions, including the waterfront and historic sites, making it an ideal starting point for any exploration of the city. Facilities and Services The Discovery Centre offers a range of facilities and services to enhance visitors' experiences: - Gift shop featuring local crafts and educational materials - Café serving refreshments and snacks - Accessible facilities for all visitors - Free Wi-Fi throughout the building Parking Options For those driving to the centre, there are both free and paid parking options available nearby, ensuring ease of access for all visitors. Conclusion With its engaging exhibits, interactive learning opportunities, and a prime location in Halifax, the Discovery Centre in Nova Scotia stands out as a unique destination that inspires discovery and appreciation for the natural and historical treasures of the region. Whether you’re a local or a visitor, plan your trip today and embark on an adventure of exploration and learning!

There are some fun things to do here for kids. But compared to similar types of places elsewhere, even in towns smaller than Halifax, the Discovery Centre is quite limited. For example, the market play area and bubble room here are much less engaging than elsewhere. Some of the demos and activities they run are cool and educational (like elephant toothpaste), whereas some are as simple as building with Legos. We had a membership for a few years which made it more affordable on a per visit basis. Sadly they dropped the reciprocitity program that got members into other museums for free, which was an amazing feature that we used when traveling, so we ended our membership.

Awesome place to visit when you are trying to entertain four boys under 14. The oldest has autism and seems too old to be there by look but he loved it more than the rest of them. The only complaint is the amount of camp kids there that are unruly and their counsellors are just sitting on the provided seats/sofa areas. My kids were picking up after them. In the “store” section, one of the groups four or five children were throwing the fake foods around. The floor was covered from the store to the “vet clinic.” My youngest even thought he had to break up a fight (it was just two kiddos wrestling a little in a playful way) which upset him for a minute. All minor though, because it was a blast. And there was air conditioning. We took in a live sky dome movie…we enjoyed it and the staff who ran it was really knowledgeable. We all wish we would have chosen one of the actual movies though, as it would have felt more like we were getting views and moving around by with the cameras. They have a canteen and lots of bathrooms. We never had to wait in line. Buying tickets online is easy.
Jeannie R — Google review
In fact, this is a very interesting place for children, where on 4 floors in sum you can learn interesting sides about things like different types of energy, or about the hockey. There is a small cafeteria and a room where children can do different things, which I called for myself “teaching a child to love science.” But in my opinion the price is higher than normal. Let’s just say that either there is a need for more space with something more interesting, or the price is a little lower. In my opinion it’s too much now.

The Halifax Citadel National Historic Site, established in 1749, is a star-shaped hilltop fort that offers guided tours and features a coffee bar and gift shop. Located in Nova Scotia, Canada, the site is one of the most visited National Historic Sites in the country.
Great experience if you're visiting Halifax. This historical site is a wonderful place to explore and take photos. It's one of the stops on the Hop On and Off tours, but it's also somewhat walkable from the downtown water front. Walking downhill to downtown takes about 15 to 20 minutes. Wouldn't recommend doing it uphill though. There are beautiful views of Halifax from here. Highly recommended that you arrive there at 11:15 so you can have a bit off a walk around before finding a great spot to view the live cannon that is shot of daily at 12 pm. Tours are also available here. The uniforms of the cadets are fantastic and they welcome you to take pictures. They are also super well informed and can answer any questions about the citadel. We didn't visit the indoor areas here but we watched the cannon being shot off. We spent about 45 minutes here in total watching the cannon, talking to guards and taking photos. Note: I do not know if bathrooms are available or here or if there is wheel chair access. All ages can enjoy this location, even children would enjoy this experience. However,I am not sure if this location is wheel-chair accessible, and those who struggle walking may have a sightly difficult time walking around the grounds.

Thoroughly enjoyed this visit. We parked at the bottom of the hill that it was situated on only to realize that we could have driven to the top lol! The tour guides were very informative and welcomed any questions. It was interesting for both children and adults. A definite must see on the east coast that took the majority of the day to see properly. French tour guides were also available.

Don’t miss seeing this historic site in Halifax, even if you’re only there for one day. The historic significance is fascinating and even if history doesn’t interest you, if nothing else, this site is worth visiting for the views alone. Wonderful experience. Go before noon and tag along for the tour and you’ll get to see them shoot the canon right up close (take ear plugs or use your fingers, lol)

The Halifax Citadel is a fascinating historical landmark that brings Canada’s colonial past to life. Perched atop a hill overlooking downtown Halifax, the star-shaped fortress offers incredible panoramic views of the city and harbour. Walking through its well-preserved walls and ramparts, you can explore the museums, military exhibits, and the daily routines of soldiers from the 18th and 19th centuries. The changing of the guard ceremony is a highlight, showcasing tradition and discipline in a captivating way. Every corner of the Citadel tells a story, from its strategic importance in defending the city to the fascinating artifacts on display, making it a must-visit for history enthusiasts, families, and anyone looking to connect with Halifax’s rich heritage.

A Fascinating Piece of History – A Halifax Must-Visit! My wife and I absolutely loved our time at the Halifax Citadel. We ended up visiting twice because there’s just so much to take in—from the rich history to the immersive demonstrations. The staff are amazing, super knowledgeable and passionate, and really help bring the past to life. Highlights included the cannon firing at noon (a tradition to signify lunchtime) and hourly rifle demonstrations, which added such an engaging and exciting touch. The views from the top are also beautiful—a perfect blend of education and scenery. The only downside was running into rowdy school groups—some of the kids were a bit wild and disrespectful, which did take away from the experience at times. That said, it didn’t stop us from enjoying everything the site had to offer. If you’re in Halifax and love history or just want a unique experience, the Citadel is a must-visit!

A very interesting informative part of Nova Scotia history, it's a must see for everyone. Helpful staff and has a great little gift store with lots interactive opportunities. They even have time period dressed staff performing reenactments.

What a neat place to visit, short walk from the cruise terminal but note that it is hilly. The Citadel itself is your basic fort, but it has some unique little features here and there tucked away. Be sure to explore all the stairs to find the little hidden shooting points of the fort and walk around the upper level to see views of the city
P Y — Google review
The Citadel offers amazing views of the city and a deep dive into Canadian history. The reenactments, guided tours, and noon-time cannon firing make the experience unforgettable. Staff are friendly and knowledgeable. Great spot for photos and learning. Highly recommend! Staffs are so friendly and got the Opportunity to see their day-to-day parade, and wide view of Halifax

The Maritime Museum of the Atlantic is a large museum featuring exhibits on boatbuilding, shipwrecks, and naval history. It also houses a historic vessel. One of its main attractions is the artifacts and stories related to the Titanic, including details about the marine disaster and its connection to Halifax. Visitors can learn intriguing facts from knowledgeable guides, such as how the Titanic's speed record attempt contributed to its sinking.
Nice museum, and an important stop for understanding life in Halifax, especially its deep connection to maritime culture. It features a nice collection of historical artifacts, a fair amount of informative displays, and a few pieces related to the Titanic. But what I personally loved the most was the collection of scale model ships — a long-lost craft. They are beautifully made and brought back so many childhood memories of wandering around similar displays back home. If you have the time, it’s a lovely spot for a short break in your day.
Chef P — Google review
Great museum with some interesting topics for people coming from abroad as well. Like information on the Titanic. We went on a Tuesday, we didn’t know, but then entrance is free. At the time we walked in a free guided tour was starting. The ideal to quickly explore some highlights as we were short on time. To fully visit you should reserve at least 2-3 hours.
Matthias T — Google review
The Maritime Museum of the Atlantic is located in a very convenient spot, just a short walk from Downtown. The opening hours are also quite reasonable. Inside, you’ll find a variety of exhibits showcasing the history of sailing, with models of ships from different eras, along with informative displays. It’s a very educational experience. I specifically went to see the Titanic exhibit, and although there weren’t as many physical items related to Titanic as I expected, the information and records were still interesting and insightful. Apart from that, there are also beautiful displays of various sailing ships and modern steamships. It’s a great place to bring kids as they can learn a lot about the development of maritime history. The ticket price is also quite reasonable. Highly recommended!
Lin Z — Google review
Great museum! Many hands-on displays. Guided tours are held frequently throughout the day. We saw one explaining the Halifax explosion hosted by Ella's. She is incredibly knowledgeable about the subject and offered some little known facts too! Definitely recommend this!
Mark S — Google review
The location of this museum is very good, next to the port. In addition to the regular maritime exhibitions, there are also historical materials and exhibits about the Titanic. Looking at those exhibits, my heart is full of sadness. There are ticket discounts for people of different ages and identities. It is recommended to come and visit.
Anqi Y — Google review
Wow! Such a great place to learn about the maritime history of the area. So many models, artifacts and information about everything from the Halifax explosion that blew windows out 60kl away to Titanic information and naval warfare history. Stop in, the staff is helpful and your ticket is good for all day you can come and go as you please.
Richard B — Google review
A very interesting visit. Numerous highly detailed models. Several objects and pieces of information were new to me, despite my prior readings on the topics covered. Located at the Halifax waterfront, the museum provides a pleasant opportunity to extend the visit with a tour of the Acadia ship, followed by a stroll along the waterfront, enriched by various attractions such as shops, restaurants, and more.
Jonathan G — Google review
As a fan of maritime history and Titanic I was expecting a lot coming into this museum. I would say I was both pleasantly surprised but also let down at the same time. The first floor is filled with history on a multitude of different Nova Scotian maritime history, from the Halifax explosion, to the Canadian Navy, and a very nice cultural piece on First Nation history. This is also where I feel there could be improvement, the hall with smaller boats and water craft feels a little under utilized and sparse with artifacts. The second floor is what blew me away, an amazing display of Cunard artifacts and models, hands on models, and the star of the show, the titanic section. Filled with history and artifacts that are rather touching when you read the history behind them. Be prepared to bump shoulder though as this is the busiest part of the museum. Overall this museum is a must see if you are into Titanic or Ocean Liner history, but the first floor leaves a little to be desired.

The Halifax Public Gardens, established in 1836 by the Nova Scotia Horticultural Society and designated as a National Historic Site in 1984, are a well-preserved example of Victorian gardens. Spanning 16 acres, this popular attraction offers visitors free admission to explore its winding paths, vibrant floral displays, charming fountains, and various garden features.
One of the most beautiful spots in Halifax. The gardens are well maintained and peaceful. The flowers and trees are stunning in every season. The paths are easy to walk and perfect for a quiet stroll. It’s a great place to slow down, take photos, and enjoy nature right in the city.
Tario S — Google review
The Halifax Public Gardens are absolutely beautiful! The variety of flowers, the colorful landscapes, and the well-kept walking paths make it such a relaxing place to visit. I loved the mix of history, nature, and charm—you can really take your time strolling around and enjoying the peaceful environment. It’s the perfect spot to unwind, take photos, or just sit and enjoy the scenery. A true gem in the middle of the city!
Edwin S — Google review
Amazing experience among the fall leaf colors and perfect weather. The public gardens are exceptional given Halifax’s size, and well worth the visit. While the dahlia garden was a highlight, the entire grounds and even the little coffee shop were all very pleasant to walk around and check out. Highly, highly recommend a stroll through the gardens when you’re in downtown Halifax.

A Peaceful Oasis in the Heart of the Halifax. This public garden is truly a hidden gem! The landscaping is beautifully done with vibrant flowers, shady trees, and well-kept paths that make walking around a pleasure. It’s a perfect spot to unwind, enjoy a quiet moment, or take photos. There are plenty of benches, clean washrooms, and even areas for kids to explore safely. I loved how peaceful and clean everything was—clearly very well cared for. A must-visit if you’re looking for a relaxing escape from the hustle and bustle!

A beautiful and peaceful spot right in the heart of the city! Perfect place to unwind, take a slow walk, or just sit and enjoy nature. The fall colors make it extra stunning — great for photos or just soaking in the calm atmosphere. Definitely a must-visit if you’re in Halifax!

Beautiful free public park with public restrooms. Great spot for engagement, wedding, and grad photos. There are ties and dedications to various kings and queens. There are many different spots to sit and enjoy the beauty around you. There are benches, lakes, fountains, and plenty of green lawn space. Worth a visit when you are in town for a nice stroll or maybe even picnic.

Absolutely gorgeous public garden. The dahlias were in full bloom - they've got a massive collection and the dahlia society was there to answer questions and show off their personal grows. I’m glad there’s a museum like this. For those who had family enter Canada through the Halifax port, I would expect that this museum would be a wonderful connection point and learning experience for them. Mostly European stories were represented here, which I enjoyed learning about, however as a Filipino-Canadian, there wasn’t much representation or storytelling connected to my culture. Happy for those cultures represented but for me, this museum was just okay.
Sherry H — Google review
Very impressive museum- a lot of heart and soul went into creating this place I’m sure! I enjoyed looking at all the artifacts and learning about the stories of immigrants throughout the years. The employees were all quite friendly, especially a volunteer who shared some knowledge with us. I think everyone should go to Pier 21 at least once, it will leave you with a new perspective and a better appreciation for the people who left everything to start a new life here.
Grace G — Google review
A meaningful and well-curated experience. Pier 21 is exceptionally well done — the layout is thoughtful, the exhibits are engaging, and the entire space is welcoming and kid-friendly. The staff were attentive, the facilities were clean, and admission was free on Canada Day, which made it even more accessible. As someone with Dutch heritage, I found the experience both eye-opening and deeply moving. It offered powerful insights into the immigrant journey, and I left with a greater appreciation for the courage and resilience of those who came before us.
Daniel M — Google review
Fantastic experience of Canada’s immigration history in the mid-20th century. We went with our two kids (13 and 10) and weren’t sure how long they would want to stay. In the end we stayed 2 hours and only left because the museum was closing. The tour was very good and the short documentary very moving. There are so many interactive exhibits and the staff were so helpful.
Julia S — Google review
I wasn’t expecting to love this place as much as I did. I was in town for work and had 2 hours to spare so I made my way here. It was fascinating to learn about the immigration history in Canada. The sort movie made me tear up and made me grateful for our country through all of its faults. I even got to learn more about my great-grandfather’s journey to Canada. This place exceeded expectations big time!
Katie F — Google review
I love reading about history especially about how my ancestors arrived here by ship. There are guided tours that lasts 20 followed by a 22 minute film. Very interesting. Both my grandparents and my dad immigrated to Canada.
Darlene W — Google review
Museum was interesting but seemed expensive once we got thru the exhibits. There were interesting things to see but felt somewhat limited for the cost of admission. We came to Halifax on a cruise, so we were docked literally right next door. We docked at Pier 22 and the museum is at Pier 21. The buildings share a wall and there is a doorway to access the museum from the cruise poetry shops area. So if you are visiting via cruise ship, the location is excellent.

Point Pleasant Park is a lush 75-hectare park located at the southern tip of Halifax peninsula. It features scenic trails, historic fort ruins, and a charming tower. Visitors can enjoy small beaches and shorelines for sunbathing and beachcombing. For a tranquil experience, travelers can explore the Victorian-era Halifax Public Gardens nearby. The park offers a serene escape with its tree-lined paths and opportunities to appreciate the coastal beauty without taking a plunge into the ocean.
A very nice place for a quiet walk. There are many places to sit. Very comfortable paths for jogging or walking the dog. Cyclists are permitted to ride on designated trails during Saturdays, Sundays and holidays. My wife and I came here when it was drizzling and a bit "stormy" near the shore, but it was even cool. Very nice and pleasant sea air. There are several small parking lots near entrances to the park. Several interesting historical places and monuments. Overall, a great place, I recommend visiting if you really have at least an extra 3 hours.

Point Pleasant Park is a large, 75-hectare (190-acre) municipal park located at the southern tip of the Halifax Peninsula in Nova Scotia, Canada. It is a popular recreational destination for locals and visitors alike, offering a variety of activities and attractions. The park features a variety of trails for walking, running, and biking, as well as a beach for swimming, off-leash dog walking areas, and picnic tables. There are also several historical sites in the park, including the Prince of Wales Tower, the oldest Martello tower in North America, and the ruins of several forts. The park is open from 5:00 AM to 10:00 PM daily, and admission is free.

Prepare yourself for a long walk with a scenic view. I'm impressed with how they maintain the cleanliness of the park. You can bring your dogs too. It's like a haven for dogs and dog owners.

Nice stop when visiting Point Pleasant Park but not a must see thing when in Halifax. If you have spare time, this is a good place for a nice walk or for a run. You can also bring food and have a picnic or if you have a dog, this is a perfect friendly park to walk dogs. There is no restaurant or cafe inside the park so make sure to bring your own food and drinks if you plan to do a lot of walking. They have portalet washroom all over the park which is good for emergency use :) You can take a bus to go here, but you still have to walk about 15 minutes to get inside the park. The bus do not enter inside the park itself.
Just T — Google review
This park is gorgeous and very big. There is plenty of wheelchair parking. It's easy to stroll around in a wheelchair and even better on a bicycle. Be prepared to sweat up and down the multiple walkways if walking. The waterfront view goes on for quite the kilometers. The same is true with the forest scenery. The historical sites are interesting. There are benches and tables to sit and enjoy a picnic. The bathroom facilities could be better taken care of, as they're quite smelly and poorly maintained. I recommend visiting this park if you want to just relax and let your eyes enjoy the beauty of nature.
Katya A — Google review
About 4km walk there, one route past the harbour and many trucks- not nice. Park is pleasant with winding paths and tracks. Goop place, once you arrive there.

Came here on a rainy cloudy day🌨️🌨️ Park was still gorgeous despite the weather. It’s a great place to enjoy amazing views of the ocean and to go on a stroll with friends, pets or by yourself! Park is very large and has several porta-potties around in case you need to go to the washroom. There is a variety of wildlife to see here such as birds and squirrels!🦅🐿️

Tons of nice trails and waterfront walking, lots of sealife you can see even from just off the trail. We didn't have our dog but other people did and they loved it. The trails can get rocky at points but its well worth it. Went in early July hoping to swim but it was WAY too cold

Halifax Waterfront is a bustling hub with a working port and one of the world's longest downtown boardwalks, stretching approximately 3km. The wooden boardwalk offers picturesque views of the city's historic buildings, shops, and restaurants as well as its bustling harbor activity. Popular dining spots include The Bicycle Thief and Garrison Brewing Company. Visitors can soak up the atmosphere while enjoying some nice sculpture/art along the waterfront.
Wow! The Halifax waterfront is amazing! Although I was born and spent half my life in this area, I have been living outside of Canada for a number of years. Last Saturday was the first time I spent any significant time on the waterfront. Loved the chairs and hammocks sprinkled throughout the waterfront. So many new beautiful restaurants, shops, art! My cousin and I had the absolute best day/evening acting like a couple of tourists!
Tina G — Google review
Halifax had a vision and they delivered. The boardwalk has abundant adirondacks and even some hammocks to relax and enjoy the waterfront. It is spacious so even though there is a lot of foot traffic it doesn’t feel crowded. There is a playground for the kids. Lots of food options and shops. Fascinating combination of history, industry and leisure. Easily spent the better part of the day here

Amazing spot for a walk if you're around downtown. It was the first time I see a starfish as well there.. They were quite many. There's a couple of cute shops nearby as well to buy souvenirs from.
Roy L — Google review
Great waterfront in Halifax! There is a boardwalk along the harbor that is wide enough for lots of people to share without feeling like you are going to bump into someone every few steps. We walked the waterfront from the cruise terminal all the way down to where the Cows ice cream parlor is located. Lots of shops, restaurants and bars along the boardwalk. There is a large play area for kids to burn off some energy and the views of the harbor were amazing. There are lots of benches along the way to sit and relax, catch your breath or to do a little people watching. It was a warm and humid day when we were there but there were nice breezes coming off the water to cool us down. One of the better waterfront we have had the pleasure of visiting. Would definitely stroll it again if we come back to Halifax in the future.
Mike G — Google review
Surprisingly clean when we were there .. which was morning. So many people out and about enjoying the spaces, food services and little pop-up kiosks. Beautiful artworks dotted the way. Lots of space for kids to play and enjoy. Ample seating. Public washrooms available. I didn't use any so I have no idea how well maintained they are.
Monica M — Google review
Very busy at the waterfront. A lot of construction going on in the area. I haven't been down here in almost 30 years. It's amazing what's grown down here but it's still beautiful definitely a road trip. It was perfect. Lots to see and do come at the waterfront. Lots of markets and a lot of restaurants. Worst part, the traffic and the construction we took cabs down to the waterfront
Colleen F — Google review
The waterfront is such a beautiful and relaxing place to visit. The view of the water is peaceful, and the fresh breeze makes every walk feel refreshing. There are plenty of benches and spots to sit, so you can just take your time and enjoy the scenery. It’s also a great place for photos, especially during sunrise and sunset when the colors on the water look amazing. The walking paths are clean and easy to stroll along, and there are nice cafés and little shops nearby if you want a snack or drink. Whether you come for a jog, a family walk, or just to clear your mind, this place is perfect.

I live this library, clean, quiet, comfortable, ambient environment in the top floor sitting area with amazing view overlooking the city and surrounding areas. Great place to spend a day reading and relaxing.

Beautiful library with excellent natural lighting. Acoustics are perfect for studying with a wide range of breakout spaces for different group work. It also has a small rooftop terrace and garden with panoramic views of the city and waterfront.

Lovely atmosphere. A lot of children, making noise, on Sunday afternoon, but some portion is dedicated as quiet area so it is convenient to read quietly. I did feel a bit of limitation in the collection, especially study books but lots of novel and children books are available. The exciting part was to find the multicultural books, in local languages.
Anu Y — Google review
I love going to this library to study, do coursework, hangout with friends, and of course, look for any books that catch my eye. The building itself is beautiful; it has a great view with lots of space and so many books to choose from! I love coming here anytime I need to catch up on homework and even just to sit down with a coffee to read for a bit. It’s both relaxing and has a gorgeous view from the higher up floors. Even at certain times when the library may start to get a bit busy/loud, I just simply move to another area or a different floor and then it’s perfectly fine. I highly recommend coming here to anyone, whether for books or for other uses like studying!

Beautifully designed buulding with perfectly arranged study and reading areas. Great city views and comfy seating. Cafe was closed when I visited.

Best place to work around Halifax for free wifi and space, with plugs and closed semi closed cubicles as well. If you are a gamer just get your steam id or Roblox and play hardcore games. get some bottle for water (cups at main). I did build a saas-application sitting at this table. So basically a very good space to think and work productively.
Harish R — Google review
"A modern book citadel" From the outside the building looks modern and very beautiful, but when I first came in I didn’t expect that I would be surprised inside either. An intersection of stairs, a protruding reading zone on the top floor, a small cafeteria and an exit to the roof (closed in winter) next to it. An unusual library style for me. Just like in the library not far from our house, there are computers to sit and do your business. Computers to register/check your profile and books with different languages, various rooms for classes, including small rooms that can be occupied for some kind of meeting I assume. Everything is in greater volume than in other branches... and of course a lot more books. This place was a little disconcerting in a pleasant way. And of course the staff here is very polite and pleasant to talk to.

The Museum of Natural History, established in 1868, offers a captivating exploration of Nova Scotia's natural history. Visitors can enjoy interactive exhibits and live animals while delving into the province's geological past, indigenous Mi'kmaq artifacts, and marine life. The museum features a diverse range of permanent installations including a whale skeleton, Mi'kmaq artifacts, and displays on Sable Island's shipwrecks and wild horses.
The kids (12,10, 7 years old) were completely engaged and happy the entire visit. We fell in love with Gus and had a sweet and informative chat with his outside watcher that day. All of the resident animals were a hit, really. Great stop!

Absolutely wonderful experience! Came here with my sister and we spent so much time at the natural living habitat exhibitions at the front that we didn’t realize there was so much more to the museum. It is massive, larger than you would think, and provide very immersive experiences in different ways throughout the sections.

We visited the Museum of Natural History on October 26, 2025, and had an absolutely wonderful experience! The museum was hosting a special Halloween event that day, and it was fantastic — full of creativity, fun activities, and festive decorations that both kids and adults enjoyed. The exhibits were engaging and educational as always, offering something interesting for every age group. Although the museum doesn’t have its own dedicated parking, there are several paid public parking options conveniently located right next to the museum, which made our visit smooth and hassle-free. Overall, it was a delightful day filled with learning and celebration — highly recommended for families and anyone who loves exploring nature and history!

I would say that this is not a small but not a big farmers market too. There are definitely a lot of interesting vendors here tho. We found good contacts for two farms to buy fresh products and took a couple of interesting unique products invented by the vendors themselves. In addition to food, there are many ordinary items, like souvenirs so you definitely can find something interesting here on your taste... both literally and figuratively. There is a large parking area, which is free on weekends.

Nestled in a stunning 1867 Italianate building that has seen various roles throughout its history, the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia is a treasure trove for art enthusiasts. With an impressive collection exceeding 18,000 pieces, it showcases both classic and contemporary works from local and international artists. The gallery features significant contributions from renowned Canadian painters like Christopher Pratt and Alex Colville, alongside an exceptional maritime folk art collection that highlights talents such as wood-carver Sydney Howard.
I’ve been traveling a lot, and wherever I go, I make a point of visiting local art galleries. I was truly impressed by this one—deeply rooted in Canadian and First Nations art. It was an amazing visit and a memorable experience that I highly recommend. To truly understand a city and its people, one must connect with their past and those who came before. This art gallery is beautifully dedicated to that purpose.

Free Thursday nights after 5pm, can casually walk through all the exhibits in an hour-ish as it’s not a large gallery. Also not busy at all it was largely empty. Most interesting exhibit is the local one on Maud Lewis and her painted house which physically got put inside the museum! Cute little gift shop.

Some really great exhibits/shows on. Wish they had more gift shop merch related to said shows. There were a lot of great indigenous artists but nothing for purchase related to these shows which was disappointing. Worth a visit even for the long-standing Maud Lewis section. The Harbour Hopper is a popular tour in Atlantic Canada that offers an hour-long journey through the city's major landmarks, including the Citadel. The tour provides informative commentary and takes guests on a unique ride as the vehicle transitions from streets to sailing along the coastline. COVID-19 protocols are in place, such as reduced guest capacity, plexiglass shields between seats, sanitizing between tours, and pre-boarding access to hand sanitizer.
What an amazing 1 hour tour filled with history and fun facts. Adam our guide was fun and full of information and captain Logan was amazing. Definitely I must tour especially when it’s land and sea. Also when you take the tour you can get the 2 hour cruise for 15$ a person.
Harry B — Google review
Excellent five-star experience. The Harbour Hopper is a one hour boat ride on a hybrid land/water boat. It was very fun and amazing learning about the history of Halifax and the story of our surrounding buildings. The tour guide was super enthusiastic and the captain did a great job. The boat itself was very nice—it could drive on land and swim on water. The tour guide taught us about the Halifax Explosion. A devastating incident in 1917 resulting in the loss of lives of many. Nearly the entirety of Northern Halifax required a rebuild. However, thanks to the help of our neighbouring provinces, we were able to rebuild. In addition to this educational experience taught by the knowledgeable tour guide, we were able to boat in the Atlantic Ocean. The level of scenery and potential for photography was through the roof. The boat also was a super clean and smooth experience, very little bumps. There were only moderate bumps entering and exiting the ocean. Therefore, I Maximum (like the speedrunner with 100K+ subscribers on YouTube) Nguyen have declared the Harbour Hopper experience a five out of five stars on Google Maps Google Reviews. I would definitely recommend paying the full price for this excellent once in a lifetime experience in Halifax.

We decided to join the tour on a whim after seeing the Hopper go by, and we were so glad we did. Joanne was an absolute delight of a guide, the route is a great highlights of Halifax, and being able to go down into the harbour is very exciting no matter how old you are! We made sure to sing extra loud at the end too! Have already told our family and friends this is a must when they visit the city, and we hope to be back one day too!

We had such an amazing experience with Captain Logan and Alexander on our boat tour! The waterfront views were stunning, and they made the whole ride so much fun. Captain Logan was so patient and even waited for us when we were late, which we truly appreciated. The highlight was that he even let us drive the boat such a cool and unforgettable experience! Both he and Alexander were super friendly and professional. Highly recommend this tour for anyone looking for a fun time on the water!

Fairview Lawn Cemetery, situated in the North End of Halifax, is a serene and historically significant site that holds the remains of 121 individuals who perished in the Titanic disaster. The cemetery is also home to victims of the 1917 Halifax Explosion. After being recovered by the Canadian Navy, most bodies were brought to this location for their final resting place.
Went here to visit the graves of some of the Titanic passengers. It was a very respectable setting and interesting to read some of the history. While there we saw a few deer.
Dave F — Google review
Solemn visit to this place to show respect at the SS Titanic grave site. So many young and unidentified grave markers and all with the same date of death hits home the enormity of the disaster from 113 years ago. Reading some of the grave stones is sad.
Phil V — Google review
Fairlawn Cemetery, located in the North end of Halifax, is most noted as the location of the final resting place for 121 victims of the sinking of the RMS Titanic on April 15, 1912. Most of the markers are msde of gray granite inscribed with the name and date of death. But there are many victims that were never identified and their markers just have the date of death and a maker number.
Dan T — Google review
Story goes that Halifax was one of, if not the largest recipient of victims of the Titanic. They had the morgue and burial capabilities that other closer ports did. Many of the victims were/still are unidentified except for the number upon which they were received. Some were also identified many years later through dna testing. Pretty interesting tour of the grave sites. This cemetery also holds many victims of the Halifax explosion. This cemetery is very well maintained for such a high traffic spot. It also can be a lot with all the tours that come by a place that is supposed to be a final “resting” place. Worth a visit if you are interested in the history of the Titanic.
Shula R — Google review
This is a beautifully kept cemetery, with a historical connection to the Titanic tragedy. We were told that if you Google the names on the headstones that you will find information on that person.

A must see place in halifax.121 souls are laid to rest here from the disastrous sinking in 1912 of The Titanic. Not the easiest place to find. The graves are arranged and layed out to represent the bow of the Titanic. Best way for me was as part of the London Routemaster Bus Hoppo tour. For all you movie buffs less interested in the true history, Yes, you can go see the gravestone of Jack(Joseph ?) Dawson played by Leonardo Di Caprio.I would rather have found the carriage with Kate Winslet still in it but thats wishful thinkin' 🤪

Well maintained cemetery well known for many of the Titanic passengers burial site.

Extremely interesting and well maintained cemetery. It is the resting place of 121 victims of the Titanic disaster. I had originally gone only to see the Titanic memorial but then found the mass grave for the victims of the 1917 harbor explosion. So sad to see. I went to the maritime museum and found the exhibit of the 1917 explosion after seeing the grave.

Located just a short drive from downtown Halifax, Hatfield Farm offers a picturesque winter escape with its romantic sleigh rides through the beautiful Nova Scotia countryside. This rustic retreat provides various outdoor activities such as wagon and pony rides, petting zoos, playgrounds, and more. It's an ideal spot for weddings, corporate events, family parties, and kids' birthday celebrations. The farm also offers educational experiences for children to learn about animal care at the petting zoo.
Had the best time ! Definitely a must go place with friends or family or kids! Went for a Christmas party, and the horse ride was so great, like 10 min wagon ride into the woods to a beautiful little area, with rustic buildings all done up beautifully ,makes you feel like a fairy tale. All the staff was really friendly and all dressed up like cow boys. Every building we went into looked absolutely gorgeous 😍, the dinner we had roast beef it was so great , potatoes were so yummy gravy was great we ate everything , then apple pie and ice cream for dessert. With fireplaces buring and the twinkle lights shinning, just gave you that Christmas spirit. The mechanical bull was fun! Each level it gets harder, plus 2 really great bouncing houses one was like a swinging ball pit and the other was like a obstacle race , they were all a lot of fun , the staff all the while still friendly with 2 other work parties going on as well. Then you get outside to their huge fire pit area, 4 huge fire pits with benches all around , music playing , the staff can make some mean fires!! They kept us all toasty warm while we sat outside by the fires. Bathrooms are this cute building off to the side. Definitely dress warm if you are going in the winter as it is chilly, definitely want to go back in the summer with the kids .. 10+ stars 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩 probably one of the best places I've visited here in nova scoy

Hatfield Farm offers a very small tour that's primarily geared towards young children. While kids might enjoy seeing the goats, pigs, horses, and a few other animals, adults will likely find the experience quite limited and boring. There isn't much to engage older visitors, making it a quick stop best suited for families with toddlers or preschoolers.

A visit was included in our Splashafix pass. The kids loved visiting the animals and getting to pet them all. The horses are beautiful. The kids want to go back and visit when there are carriage rides.

I love animals so this is a treat to have so close to Halifax. Lots of room so you don’t feel crowded. Ample parking. Gift shop and ice cream stand. Hand sanitizer and hand wash stations through out the grounds. Food trucks on site. Great way to spend a day

Went here for a church gathering and it was so much fun. The rubber rodeo was a hit and so many people tried to ride the mechanical bull. The washrooms were clean and the lodge was perfect with free hot chocolate, water, pop & coffee. The fire was warm for a rainy snowy day. We also got pizza and fries. The horse ride was great because it was covered. You do have to sign waivers. We will definitely be going back because it was amazing!

“This was the coolest farm I’ve ever visited! The most exciting part was that you could touch and pet the animals. All the staff had such warm, beautiful smiles.”
Mina H — Google review
A very good place for families to visit. Especially for animal lovers. Very friendly staff and adequate price for admission. The opportunity to go into the enclosures with the animals and the opportunity to contact them brings a lot of positive emotions. The pigs, goats, horses, ponies, alpacas are all very sociable. But goats are the most sociable of all and quiet funny. There are playgrounds for children. As well as the possibility of recreation for adults.

Just a short drive from Halifax, Atlantic Splash Adventure is a family-friendly water park with an array of thrilling rides and attractions suitable for all ages. The complex boasts over 25 waterslides and activities, including a giant wave pool, lazy river, and splash pad. Visitors can also enjoy go-kart sessions with the purchase of season passes, which offer additional perks such as food discounts. The park's clean grounds and friendly staff make it an ideal destination for cooling off on hot summer days.
A wonderful experience on Father’s Day, now GoKart are included in the admission which makes the season pass even more attractive. Loved the new flying fishes ride but the roller coaster is still under maintenance. Looking forward to an adult zone with swim in bar and chill pool, will definitely be a hit in the future. Overall great place for family and kids, a hidden gem in Nova Scotia!

This was a fun place to take the kids for the day! It was a great price for the activities that they offered. The staff that we encountered were friendly and they did have quite a few picnic tables to enjoy lunches/snacks. We did have an issue on the green and white water slide. My daughter was told by the attendant to go down and it was too early. The person at the bottom did not exit the slide and my daughter ended up crashing into her. The lady she hit into fell backwards and hit her head and both of them got a bit of bump. No one was seriously injured but this could have easily been avoided if the attendant was doing their job properly. The bathrooms by the water slides were very under staffed. It took me 3 different stalls to find one that was “okay” to use.

It was our first time back in years. We went on a sunny Saturday. I suggest you buy your tickets on their site prior to going. It was almost at capacity but the staff did their absolute best to accommodate everyone. Your tickets includes everything this year, Go karts and all . The facility was clean and well maintained. The rides are fun , the slides are great. All around good time. I highly recommend

So close to Halifax! This place is great for the kids. Your price includes dry rides, water rides, mini golf and go carts! Ample, clean bathrooms. Staff was amazing. Bar, food was good and not CRAZY overpriced, lots of free parking. We go every summer! The roller coaster was down again, or id give this 5 star.

We loved this park! Well kept, great water slides, decent food (not too expensive), laser tag and plenty of shady places to sit. I’m glad I didn’t pay too much attention to some the other reviews. The info desk at the airport recommended this park. We are from the USA and have been so many water ride and theme parks all over the world and this was perfect. Bedded in a tree filled area and with really friendly staff. My son is 9 and he had a blast! “Hidden gem” in Nova Scotia!

Great for kids, teens and people who are enjoying the rides! But ... they don't have a swimming pool... So if you are not riding, than you are dying on the open sun... Hope next season they will add this as well! And some other food vendors as well, because waiting for food one hour, again, in the line under the open sun - that's something that should be managed to enhance the level of their client service. Anyway, the personnel were nice and kind!👌 The idea of the entertainment is awesome! Just make it works, providing better decisions for the clients. Thanks!! 🙏

The active wharf and fishing village feature colorful cabins, gift shops, dining options, and ice cream parlors. Visitors can stroll along the boardwalk to explore folk art, Maritime crafts, and old-time candy while observing working lobster fishermen in action.

We had such a lovely time exploring Fisherman’s Cove last weekend! I especially loved browsing the local shops and discovering the sweetest little co-op art gallery. It’s such a charming spot and definitely worth a visit!

Fisherman’s Cove is one of those rare places that feels both timeless and welcoming. I visited on a weekday and didn’t have to wait at all—just parked and strolled right in. The boardwalk is lined with charming shops, each with its own personality, offering everything from handmade crafts to fresh seafood. The views of the harbour are stunning, especially with seagulls gliding overhead and the gentle sound of waves lapping against the shore. The Heritage Centre adds depth to the visit, with thoughtful displays that highlight the maritime history of Eastern Passage. It’s clear the community takes pride in maintaining the area—everything was clean, well-kept, and full of character. Whether you’re looking to relax, explore, or pick up a few local treasures, Fisherman’s Cove delivers. I added a few photos to my review to capture the vibe, but honestly, it’s even better in person. Highly recommend for locals and visitors alike.

The Emera Oval, located in the heart of Halifax Common, was originally built for the 2011 Canada Games but has become a permanent fixture due to its popularity. In the winter months, it transforms into the largest artificially cooled ice surface in Atlantic Canada and offers free skate rentals. During summer, visitors can enjoy rollerblading, biking, and walking with free equipment rentals available. The Oval is a popular spot for both winter skating and summer activities like rollerblading and biking.
The Emera Oval is awesome year-round spot where you can rent bikes, rollerblades, and helmets for free in the summer, then enjoy free skates and helmets in the winter—all with just a government ID—making it a super fun and easy way to stay active outdoors with friends or family.

This is a beautiful place for cycling and skating, a very good initiative by the municipal authorities. They provide cycles, skates and helmets for free of cost, just use it in the oval and return it before leaving.. You have to hand over a government ID and collect it after returning the equipment. Bring in your kids to learn cycling and skating. They have cycles and skates for all ages..

A good place to spend some time riding bikes, roller skates, and in winter skiing. I personally would recommend to bring your own helmets to avoid any infection. I never saw them being disinfected or whatsoever after each use. But the place is a good spot for those who want to learn from scratch, or for advanced people who want to come for practice.. As a facility it is great.

I consider the Oval the greatest gift to Halifax. I would give it more than 5 stars if I could. Skating is free, and there are free skate rentals. People love using it and it allows anyone to come and skate. In the non-winter months, you can also use it to roller skate, roller blade, or even cycle on the track. Great facilities, lots of benches, and maintained really well.

Halifax Common, also known as the Commons, is Canada's oldest urban park established in 1749. It offers a variety of amenities such as sports facilities, a fountain, and a swimming pool. The park features a grand skating oval and a skateboarding park along with vast open spaces for various activities. Visitors can easily find a peaceful spot to relax with a book amidst the bustling streets and buildings of Halifax.
Access is completely free but limited by the number of people, they put a bracelet to distinguish the shifts. They have different schedules, each shift is for one hour. The pool water is very clean, it has an area for children. There are lockers, bathrooms and showers on site. For children there are different types of floats It is a great place to enjoy in the summer, my family and I love this place

What an incredible park! The oval with rentals of bikes, blades, boards, skates is such an asset to the community. The skatepark has tons of great features, new and old, and I definitely could spend hours here working on different tricks. Strongly recommend checking this skate park out. Only draw back is that there are some big cracks between the transitions from concrete to asphalt. Talking to local skaters, I understand that this is being redone soon. Stoked to go back.

The commons is a great little green space with lots to see and do. The oval is there for the kids to do things in all seasons and it is always bustling. Great place to eat lunch or read a book. Walk your dog or get a jog in. There’s a skate park and playground so lots of options for the whole family.

A really nice park in a great location. However, this park is more geared toward the local community instead of tourists. There are softball diamonds, a skating loop in the winter, plenty of wide open green space that is often filled with people and their various sporting activities. There's a big skate park on the other side of the road and it's a great spot for larger events. They do currently have a plan in place to revitalise the space, but I don't think it will be done soon.

A beautiful and very valuable space in the heart of the city. This is one of my favourite places in the city and makes me proud of Halifax every time I am here. This is a true gift to the residents of Halifax. It has baseball fields, cycling tracks, the ice skating and recreational Oval, free skate and roller skate/blade rentals, as well as tons of space for people to do their own activities on the commons area. I frequently see people playing lawn games here, reading books, flying kites, learning how to cycle or skate, and generally just enjoying the space.

I walk through this area almost every day. The fields are great for laying, doing yoga, playing with your pup, or a game of baseball. This is an awesome community area that lets you relax and while still inside a city, enjoy a big green field. The oval is also great with being able to skate in the winter or bike in the summer, the concerts here are fantastic and there is even a skate park.

Hop! Skip! Jump! Indoor Play Space in Halifax offers a vast 3,500 square foot play area with a three-level play structure for kids to climb and explore. Toddlers have their own designated space with various attractions like an animal merry-go-round and spinning palm tree. The facility is well-maintained, providing a safe and clean environment for children to enjoy while offering reasonably priced healthy food options for parents.
This place is seriously so cool! We took our 2 year old there and loved it. Theres a toddler area that has tones to do and a bigger kid area which can also be used for toddlers if they’re capable and you follow them. I could go through the whole place with her safely and it was amazing exercise for her. We’ve been to many kids play places with her and this place takes the cake. Big area for parents to sit comfortably and watch, a nice coffee and drink bar for the parents and it’s not very expensive at all. Best part about it? Not a TV in sight. We’ll be back 100%.
Lee K — Google review
Definitely the best indoor play place in HRM. It is well-managed, cleaned and thought out. It's very nice to have the space where younger kids are isolated from some of the larger more rambunctious children. They also have a very reasonable and healthy selection of food in case you need to sit down take a break and have something to eat. They also thought of the seating area for parents where it is directly in view of all the children playing. Very reasonably priced as well even the food.
Brent V — Google review
I wish I would have read the reviews for the space prior to our first visit. We took our 6 year old daughter here for the first time last weekend for her birthday and my partner and I were charged $3 each just to stay in the building to supervise our daughter! We couldn't just leave her there on her own, so we had no choice but to pay the price. We paid nearly $30 for her to play for less than an hour. I would save your money as there are other indoor play locations that don't charge half as much and certainly don't charge the parents simply to supervise their children.
Laura H — Google review
Renovations are nice but that is probably the only positive based on my recent experience. We will not be back for the following reasons: 1. Substantial price increase: For a toddler and 5 year old + 2 adults we paid 40 dollars. That was with a 25% discount. The price is very high compared with other places in HRM. They also are the only place that I know of outside of downtown Toronto that charges for adults. 2. Staff attitude: Staff are very antagonistic toward parents and kids. We brought in an outside drink and the woman rudely told us she would not ring us in until we removed it. There was a line behind us and we were not arguing about it. I also watched this staff member interact with other parents and kids in the same manner. The level of attitude was completely uncalled for and there are many people who will not be as polite when dealing with antagonistic people like this. It was quite unpleasant. 3. Staff monitoring: They need a staff member circulating in areas like the big slide with the inner tubes. I recognize that parents should also be monitoring staff should also be doing rounds to ensure that no one gets hurt. For 40 bucks I would expect a staff member to be circulating regularly to enforce rules and ensure safety. Overall, I will not be back. There are many play places popping up in Halifax that are much better, more relaxed (e.g., they aren’t going to give you attitude for bringing in an outside drink), and cheaper.

Hop! Skip! Jump! provided an exceptional experience for our recent birthday celebration. From the moment we arrived, it was evident that cleanliness and safety were top priorities. The spacious hall comfortably accommodated both guests and energetic children, ensuring everyone had ample room to move and play. The facility's attention to detail in maintaining a clean and sanitized environment gave us peace of mind as parents. But what truly set this place apart was the sheer fun it offered for kids. With various engaging activities and play areas, the children were entertained for hours on end. From bouncing on trampolines to navigating obstacle courses, there was no shortage of excitement. Overall, Hop! Skip! Jump! left us feeling satisfied and eager to return for future celebrations. It's a fantastic destination for families looking for a clean, safe, and endlessly fun experience for their children. Highly recommended!
Gemma M — Google review
We took our kids to Hop Skip Jump in Halifax — the play area itself is great for children, lots of fun and safe. But the new policy charging $3 for parents is really disappointing. Kids aren’t allowed without parents, so charging adults on top of the already $20+ per child feels unfair. We’re there just to supervise, not to use the play area. The kids enjoyed themselves, but this extra fee for parents definitely leaves a bad impression.
Gaurang P — Google review
4 stars ONLY because the scent spray in the bathroom is insanely potent, if you are sensitive to scents at all do not use the bathroom here!! Other than that, it was an incredible experience with incredible staff. I felt very safe letting the kids play here, so much for fun (for adults too!!!), and it was very, very clean
Mallory R — Google review
This place is stupid we showed up at 1pm they close at 2 for cleaning. We paid full price to stay for an hour and then asked if we were allowed to come back in after 3 when they reopened after cleaning. You can come back in but you'll have to pay full price again. Why don't they clean at night or just work around the kids? Also at 50 bucks for 2 adults and 2 kids they can get bent. Inside is pretty cool lots for the kids to do wish we showed up earlier.

When visiting Halifax, be sure to explore the vibrant points of interest such as Point Pleasant Park, Halifax Port, Pier 21, and the bustling Halifax Waterfront. One iconic stop is Alexander Keith's Nova Scotia Brewery, which has been in operation for over 200 years. The brewery offers an immersive experience where visitors can learn about its rich history and witness the brewing process. The tour concludes at the Stags Head pub with a chance to sample limited edition beers and enjoy live music from local musicians.
Looking to spend a fun hour while in Halifax, this is a can’t miss venue. The tour was excellent and provided lots excellent details about the history of the brewery. Of course there were plenty of occasions to try some excellent beer. The end of the tour featured a fun visit to their bar. There was entertainment and a chance to have a couple more beers. After the tour we visited the gift shop which was well priced for a tourist spot.

My wife and I did the hour-long brewery tour on our vacation to Halifax. It was a great tour and well worth the money! We bought our tickets in advance which is definitely recommended. You can do this on their website. During the tour, multiple beer samples of their various styles were provided. The tour concluded with some live music and larger samples at the Stag's Head. Definitely something worth doing at least once if you are in town.

The Gold Standard for Beer – A Must for Any Beer or History Lover! This place is an absolute must-do if you’re into beer, history, or both! The Alexander Keith’s Brewery Tour was easily one of the highlights of our trip—so much fun, super informative, and filled with great energy from start to finish. The beer? Phenomenal. We tried every single one and were honestly blown away—each beer was perfect in its own way, with a great balance of flavours and craftsmanship that really shows. What also stood out was the team running the tour—they’re not only incredibly knowledgeable, but also talented and engaging. The tour included some great storytelling, music, and interactive moments that really brought everything to life. If you’re visiting Halifax and even remotely like beer, this needs to be on your list. It sets the bar high—the gold standard of brewery experiences!

had a fantastic time on the Alexander Keith’s Brewery Tour. It was much more than I expected — not just about beer, but rich in history and storytelling. The tour was incredibly informative, filled with authentic artifacts and engaging displays that gave us a real sense of Halifax’s brewing heritage. What really stood out was the energy and enthusiasm of the crew. The guides were in character, knowledgeable, and full of life — they made the whole experience immersive and entertaining from start to finish. You could tell they genuinely enjoyed what they were doing. There were also some great beer selections to sample, which added to the overall vibe. Whether you’re a beer lover or a history buff, this tour offers something for everyone.

This place was fantastic! The staff were wonderful and even put on a show while you got to drink 🍸 2 glasses 🥂 of their brews. They give you a nice tour of the brewery as well as tell of its history. Their different brews are excellent and, I hope I can buy some in Maryland. I would recommend you buy tickets 🎟 in advance as many times ⏲️ can sell out. Lastly, they have a nice souvenir shop where you can get lots of Alexander Keith stuff. Highly recommend.

Wow, what an amazing tour! I really think this is a must to do activity if you’re visiting Halifax. The staff/guides are all so enthusiastic and make the experience. You learn a lot of beer making and Alexander Keith while having fun. You also get 2 samples and 1 or 2 (I can remember!) beers during the tour. For $30, that’s amazing! There were a few families on the tour who had babies/small children. Whenever we were offered beer, they made it clear that they had non alcoholic options for anyone who couldn’t/didn’t want to drink. I recommend booking the tour in advance as it fills up quick, I saw some people trying to book last minute and were disappointed!

Nestled in the vibrant Halifax, Nova Scotia, the HMCS Sackville stands as a poignant reminder of Canada's naval heritage. This WWII-era warship is not only the last surviving Flower-class corvette but also a cherished museum and memorial dedicated to those who served during the tumultuous Battle of the Atlantic. Commissioned in 1941, this historic vessel played a crucial role as a convoy escort, safeguarding merchant ships from lurking German U-boats across treacherous North Atlantic waters.
Went on Canada Day, so the lineup to get onto the ship was longer. That said, it was totally worth it. The ship has all kinds of interactive and traditional museum exhibits. There are also staff on board to answer any questions you might have about the ship or its compartments. Once you leave the ship, they have a giftshop that helps support the upkeep of the ship and the museum. Some neat trinkets and apparel there.

I paid $10 for the ticket and donated $50 Of all the moments from my visit to the Flower-class corvette today, one stands out with profound warmth and significance: an elderly volunteer, with eyes that held stories of a different time, gifted me a ribbon embroidered with "HMCS SACKVILLE." I immediately tied it around my head—a simple act that felt like a personal vow to remember. It became a direct, tangible link to the past. That past is one of immense sacrifice. As I stood on the deck, I wasn't just a tourist; I was a witness to a history that cost the world dearly. I think we have to never forget the price of victory in WWII. To defeat a common enemy, my homeland of China suffered over 35 million casualties, a staggering number that speaks to a depth of loss beyond comprehension. Here in Canada, over 45,000 brave souls gave their lives in the war effort, each one a hero who left a void in a family and a community. This history is why, as a long-time player of World of Warships, my appreciation for these vessels is more than just digital. My favourite ship to command is the X103 Le Terrible—a destroyer whose breathtaking speed I've always admired. But standing here today, that virtual admiration transformed into real, solemn respect. The speed of a ship like Le Terrible wasn't just for show; it was for survival, for hunting, for protecting the very freedoms those 45,000 Canadians and 35 million Chinese died for. The ribbon on my head, the corvette beneath my feet, and the memory of the digital warships I command—all converged into a single, powerful feeling: the deepest and most humble gratitude. This visit was a powerful reminder to me that behind every ship, whether preserved in a harbour or pixelated on a screen, lies the immense, human cost of peace. I remember them.

Impromptu trip but really worth it! So unique to be able to experience something after celebrating Remembrance Day since childhood. Toddler really enjoyed turning the wheel of the cannon and steering the ship (without actually steering it). I really like the room set ups. I just found the dummies a bit creepy!

The last Corvette, HMCS Sackville is an honorary ship on display anchored at Halifax Waterfront and is a one-of-a-kind experience of what it was like to be on a battleship from World War II. The ship has been restored to its glory days in vibrant colours from when it accompanied transport ships across the Atlantic to prevent German submarine attacks. We were able to operate the battle guns, see the missiles, engine room, close living quarters and see the top of the deck as well as various displays and commemorative plaques for past service folks. There is no admission fee but a recommended donation of $5pp at the entrance. Many Canadian navy sailors are also on deck to guide and answer questions.

This is a must if in the area. It gives you an in-depth close up experience of a WW2 ship. The safe is very knowledgeable and friendly. Plus it helps support Canadian servicemen.
Salvatore M — Google review
Had a really great time. If you buy the $5 radio it provides you with information. You can easily send around an hour. Lots of spot to take pictures.
Karan R — Google review
The tour aboard this World War Two Flower-class Corvette was truly awesome! There were active Navy personnel, as well as tour guides, throughout the vessel, ready to answer all questions. I couldn't imagine what it would have been like to serve aboard a ship like this invthe North Atlantic. You won't regret a visit!
Dan T — Google review
If you like ships or WWII history this place is for you. You get a really good look at a small ship that played a big roll in WWII. This ship and many like her protected allied convoys sailing across the North Atlantic. The volunteers have done a great job of restoring her to her 1944 configuration. The $10 donation was a real bargain. This definitely isn't something to miss.

Crystal Crescent Beach Provincial Park, located in Sambro Creek about 17 miles south of Halifax, is a hidden gem boasting three separate white-sand beaches nestled in coves along the Atlantic Ocean. The park offers picturesque hiking trails like the popular Pennant Point trail, which is perfect for bird-watching and wildlife viewing. With its clear waters and soft sands, this coastal park provides a peaceful sanctuary away from the city. Visitors can explore the 5.
A pretty huge beach with a long hiking trail right behind the sand. 2nd beach is my favorite as it is less busy. Great spot for beach camping too! Not far from the city. Not many mosquitoes like other beaches. Water is pretty cold year around there, recommended for Cold Water Exposure/dipping.
Beshoy Z — Google review
The admission to this provincial park is free and it offers picturesque hiking trails along the ocean and a sandy beach by the ocean. The washrooms are clean and well-maintained; can be lineups at times. Parking can get tricky at times, depending on the time of your arrival. We enjoyed swimming in the ocean, hiking and sat on the rocks and enjoyed the breathtaking view of the ocean.
Alaleh F — Google review
Great beach, with amazing wide sand and plenty of area to sit, tan, and swim. There are two major parking lots, and access is free. It'll take you a few minutes to get down from the parking lots to your preferred area. There's some areas that are better covered from wind (by rocks or shrubs). There's sections that are boardwalks that take you further in the park.

Nestled along a picturesque coastline, this beach offers an ideal retreat for nature lovers and adventure seekers alike. The expansive sandy shore provides ample space for relaxation and recreation, complemented by convenient and plentiful free parking—a rare find in many coastal destinations. What sets this beach apart is its adventurous track that winds along the ocean and through lush forests, offering breathtaking views and encounters with natural rock formations. The trail is a perfect blend of tranquility and excitement, ideal for leisurely strolls or more vigorous hikes. The atmosphere here is remarkably serene and quiet, making it a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. Whether you’re lounging on the beach, exploring the trails, or simply taking in the scenic vistas, this destination promises a rejuvenating experience amidst nature’s beauty.

One of my favourite beaches around the Halifax area. It is beautiful, has a good bibe, and is fun to spend the day. Good parking lot, and has toilets, it is ok, but at least there is where to go. I will come back this summer

This is a sand beach with stones on one side and sand on the other. There is a long area along the sea shore that you can walk to. The views are so picturesque. All wallpaper stuff. Had such an amazing time just sitting there and listening to the sound of the waves. Very clean and peaceful place.

Nestled in Halifax, Sir Sandford Fleming Park spans an impressive 95 acres and offers a delightful escape into nature. This park features extensive walking trails that meander through diverse habitats, including second-growth woodlands and a serene frog pond. One of its standout attractions is the Dingle Tower, a historic structure built in 1912 to honor Nova Scotia's representative government.
The park is absolutely beautiful all season long, and the Dingle Tower is accessible to explore until October 31. Dogs are welcome, but must remain leashed, and the area is great for just taking a seat by the water and watching the boats go by. The playground is great for little climbers, as there is a massive tree/rope climbing tower with a slide and plenty of wooden climbing beams.

Excellent park with lots of spots to relax and take a walk , take a dip, have a picnic, play on the playground, etc. It is also home of the Dingle Tower which was built in 1908. The view from the tower is awesome across the arm and the many beautiful homes.

What a beautiful spot! Saw lots of people with their family's having a BBQ and setting up lawn games, the water is crystal clear and there's a small beach for swimming, it's dog friendly and there's an adorable playground for kids. There's an ice cream shop, lots of parking and it's perfect for a date or a family picnic!

A wonderful park with stunning views. It’s perfect for solo walks or spending time with friends. There’s plenty to do here, from swimming at the beach and having a picnic to hiking on the trails and taking photos. While walking, I even saw a couple taking pre-wedding photos, which isn’t surprising given the park’s beauty. Definitely a must-visit!

Amazing park, very scenic ! Lots of greenery and spaces and kids play area. Along the shore. There’s a 100+ year old Memorial Tower standing tall on top of the hill. Plenty of sitting benches and picnic tables for family gathering. Beautiful spot for weekend picnics. Enough parking available.

Dee Dee's Ice Cream is a family-run shop that offers a delightful selection of classic and innovative flavors, all made with locally-sourced ingredients. From traditional vanilla to unique options like banana cardamom and orange star anise, there's something for every taste. In addition to their dairy-based ice creams, they also offer refreshing sorbets for those looking for non-dairy treats.
Had some black sesame ice cream for the first time here, shit's crazy it's like sweet and savoury at the same time. This is a super cute building, nice staff, and just a real pleasant vibe all around. I'll definitely come back to see if any flavours rotated in, because there were only a handful to choose from when we were there
Bodhi A — Google review
Love Dee dee’s. Always has some unique flavours you won’t find anywhere else. Their ice cream is thick, and almost chewy, maybe buttery? Love the vibe and in a great location, close to the commons. They always seem to be lined up out the door, down the street, but do a great job at clearing the line. The great part is you can get half scoops of 2 flavors so you don’t have to commit to one. Think this is the best place for in house ice cream in the city.

Worth the wait!!! A neighbour near the ice cream shop told us it was worth lining up, and they were absolutely right! I got the sesame and coffee flavours, both were rich and creamy, and the waffle cone made it even better. I’ll definitely be back next time I’m in Halifax!

The Board Room Game Cafe one of the best place in the world. Good interesting place with it's cozy atmosphere. A lot of games to play or buy. Normal snacks and drinks(nothing very special but there is a good variety of them and they are tasty. Well, it's a gaming place - not a restaurant, yes?). Just a little bit high prices I think. Polite, friendly people. And they have a point-using-membership. We definitely will return here time to time. In a couple, or with friends.

Went for Disney trivia and the place was packed so service was a little slow. Food was great. Ordered a cocktail and it was okay, also had to ask for water 3 times. Had to flag server a few times to get attention. The other half of experience was great however. Overall, not a bad spot at all.

The Africville Museum in Halifax showcases the history of a 19th-century African-Canadian town that was demolished in the 1960s for industrial development. The museum, housed in a replica church, tells the story of this community and its forced relocation. It highlights the resilience of former residents and their descendants who continue to preserve the spirit of Africville.
As a Black Canadian of Jamaican heritage, visiting Africville in Halifax, Nova Scotia, was deeply meaningful to me. This land holds the legacy of Canada’s Indigenous Black communities—a place marked by both resilience and injustice, triumph and racism. Heather and I came here to honour that legacy, to learn more about the land we call home, and to engage with its history firsthand. It was a powerful experience. We had the privilege of meeting some of the individuals who were displaced during Africville’s forced relocation—a reminder of the strength and dignity of this community. I encourage you to learn about Africville and share its story. Canada is a remarkable country, but its history includes painful truths. Acknowledging and understanding them is just as important as celebrating the progress we’ve made today.
Richard P — Google review
A small museum but rich with history well worth the stop. I had little knowledge of the history of Black settlers in Nova Scotia, other than they came from the States in the 1800s for obvious reasons. The story is well-told and gives visitors a new understanding and appreciation of the treatment of the families who lived here from early 1800s to the 1960s.
Nora M — Google review
LOVED this museum. The staff were so friendly and helpful. The displays are very well organized and designed. We were able to spend time with Ms. Bernice, whom is featured on the postage stamp. There's a wonderful walking trail and a marina that's being built. If you are near this area then you must visit this museum. I'm so impressed that I'm planning on building a scale model of church.

Sandra was the interpreter the day we arrived and she was very personable, knowledgeable, and helpful. The destruction of this community was awful and it was very important to learn about. Definitely recommend as a lover of history and learning about Halifax.
Nicholas S — Google review
Went there as part for an assignment, and was not disappointed! The staff not only are very kind hearted people, but they have a really deep connection to the history of Africville. The place was full of history yet not overwhelming. I would highly recommend visiting the museum by car as transit stops far away and you have to take a long walk next to the highway. This museum and its location is perfect for anyone who wants to learn about important Nova Scotian history. Thank you Africville Museum! (I would go in Autumn to view the most beautiful views surrounding Africville and to enjoy the colours of the nature!)
Martanda — Google review
Part of Canadian history that unfortunately doesn't display our best however the numerous plaques around the park does somewhat acknowledge the rough past and treatment of the people. Eddie Calvery enduring voice and action is testament to the strength of the people that lived here.

Farmers Markets
Nestled in the heart of downtown Halifax, the Halifax Forum Farmers' Market is a delightful destination for anyone seeking fresh, local produce and unique artisanal goods. Housed in a charming old stone building that once served as Alexander Keith's Brewery, this market boasts beautiful courtyards and an inviting atmosphere right by the harborfront.
At the Farmers Market at the Forum. I cannot lie, I am loving it. Lots of fruit/veggies, baked goods, food and meal options. I sat and had an americano with oat milk, and a raspberry scone. And! There was a woman singing a fabulous set of tunes. What a great vibe.
Katie C — Google review
Not quite sure what we had been expecting, but, was much smaller than we thought. Maybe 10, 15 vendors at most. Not very many vendors or much selection. We are used to larger markets where we can do most of our weekly shopping. Also found it very difficult to locate the entrance and walked around the building a couple of times. Recognizing that many vendors may be just starting to come back due to COVID, we may try again another time down the road. Person at the front door was rude when we walked in which was a bit deflating.
Ashlan P — Google review
Witches market was fun. Shout out to the patch people and the chubby dragon person! Also the leather worker who cut out the sticker like no ones business
Joel ( — Google review
I know it's an off-season for farmers, so I'll revisit and maybe revise my review later this year. Checked out the market this weekend and it was very disappointing. One vendor selling produce, one selling meat, a couple people selling baked goods and crafts and someone selling junk food. Fingers crossed that it's worth the trip once more produce is in-season.
Jeff Z — Google review
Such a fantastic local market! My family and I often buy our weekly vegetables and treat here. The vendors are always so fantastic and happy to chat about their goods!
Nick O — Google review
Charming little farmer's market with everything you need, plus some. Big enough to have what you need and small enough to have some things you can only get there. Butchers, veggies from local farms, artisans, sweets, local booze, soft live music ... just a great all-round small local farmer's market. Arrive hungry and you can have a great brunch from one of the vendors. ATM on-site if needed and free parking.
Brenden S — Google review
Vendors that are there are good, but the market could use more! I've seen larger with more selection in small towns. Be ready to fight for bike parking; only a few spots + a hip spot between west end and north end = not nearly enough for bikes while the parking lot for cars is nearly completely empty. Shameful -- enough so that I'd knock this down to a 2, but I know the Forum is working on a revamp that might include more bike access. Still, would be nice if they'd petition for some more stands while we wait.
Owen G — Google review
Love this little Farmers Market in the North end. It is so much easier to get to than the giant one at the Piers. There is always parking. The atmosphere is cheerful, local and calm. There are usually a couple of live musicians somewhere. It's a small market. But you can get veggies, fruits, eggs, baked goods, handcrafts, really good beer, meats, and food ready to eat. What more would a person need?

Shubenacadie Provincial Wildlife Park, located just 40 kilometers outside of Halifax, spans 40 hectares and is home to a variety of native and exotic wildlife. Visitors can observe black bears, cougars, wolves, and the park's most prized animal, the Sable Island horse. The park also features an interpretive center, playground, and clean washroom facilities that are easily accessible for all visitors.
This park is a wonderful spot for families and nature lovers! The park is well-maintained, the animals are clearly well cared for, and it’s a great way to learn about native Canadian wildlife. Peaceful trails, friendly staff, and a fun, educational experience for all ages. Highly recommend for a relaxing day outdoors!

Overall a nice place. As with most, I wish there was more funds for larger habitat enclosures and better water features. I'm glad though that the animals are ones that can't go back to the wild and are taken care of. Staff we wonderful.

An excellent place to observe a variety of extraordinary and fascinating wild creatures. While some animals prefer staying inside their shelters, many can be seen roaming outside. A few appear calm and relaxed, while others are impressively energetic and active. The zoo also features a pleasant picnic area, making it a great spot for families and nature enthusiasts alike.

What an amazing experience! (Could only imagine how it would be for a child). The park is set up in a way where it never feels too crowded and is extremely clean and the animals are all very evidently well cared for. Highlights were definitely the adorable raccoons, the precious bear eating leaves, and the wild to see wolves!
Kali G — Google review
We took our family on a night tour of the wildlife park. It was such a cool experience to see animals at night and how differently they act at night. We met the tour guide at 8:00 and we finished the tour at 10:00. It was a lot of walking so be prepared for that. Our children are between 12 and 5 and did start to get tired. Seeing the wildlife park with a guide was a really great experience because we got to learn so much about the animals and how they came to be at the park. Totally recommend this for anyone looking for a unique experience with their family. The night tours aren't run all the time and do fill up quickly.

We had an absolute blast at this wildlife sanctuary! 🦌🦅 There was such a great variety of animals, many that are native to Nova Scotia it was really cool to see them quite up close. It’s the perfect spot for families, kids, and friends of all ages. The admission was very reasonably priced, which made the whole experience even more enjoyable and accessible. The park is really well set up with tasty food, drinks, snacks, and even ice cream to keep you fueled throughout the day. The social media team does a fantastic job too! super informative, helpful, and a great way to plan your visit ahead of time. Highly recommend for a fun, memorable, and family-friendly adventure!

Shubenacadie Provincial Wildlife Park was definitely worth the visit! You can enjoy a relaxing walk while watching adorable animals. I really hope all the animals here are happy. When we went, we saw owls, hawks, eagles, peacocks, and also black bears, arctic foxe, wolves, coyotes, and the cutest beavers. Highly recommend!

The Putting Edge in Bayers Lake offers mini golf in a brightly-colored, kaleidoscopic setting. The course is eighteen holes and great tunes to bogey to.
This mini-golf venue is a fantastic option for family entertainment, especially on those rainy or cold days when outdoor activities are impossible. The kids absolutely loved it! Not only did they have a blast playing, but it also subtly encouraged a healthy sense of competition and the importance of teamwork. The course itself is beautifully designed with vibrant colors and creative obstacles, making each hole a unique and engaging experience. The atmosphere is lively and welcoming, perfect for both children and adults. It's a wonderful way to spend a few hours, creating lasting memories and enjoying some friendly competition. Highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a fun and interactive activity to enjoy with their family. A great escape from the usual indoor play areas!

Went here for the first time and made an online reservation. We were told to wait near the arcade games and they would call us. We waited around 15 minutes. Playing was super fun, but if we book a reservation we should get to playing then especially because they told us to come 10 minutes earlier. They have different colour balls and scoring was easy. Fun date.

The coolest indoor mini golf place I’ve ever been to! There are so many themes, ocean, jungle temple, castle, and it’s all in glow in the dark. Wear some neon/ white clothes. Super fun experience!

Must go to if you are visiting Halifax its the perfect spot for anyone if they are a couple or a family you will laugh and have so much fun there are so many themes of good course and new one maybe comin but either way this place is a must go to if you are visiting Halifax even if you live here it’s a place where you will want to come over and over again. And by the way I do recommend getting tickets in advanced cause it can get very busy and I also recommend coming 10-15 minutes before you booking so you can play the arcade game there. If the owner is reading this I have a question for you, are you gonna expand putting edge cause if you do maybe more visitor will know and come to this place. But either way it’s a place of wonder for all golf lovers and ones that are not golf lovers ( like me)you will still find this place very fun.

On remarkable shape for how long it has been a round. Well maintained, fun course and despite black lights only there is enough paint I can see what I am doing. Arcade is fun too.
Tristan S — Google review
Was a great experience, honestly wish they had a longer course or multiple courses. We didn’t want to stop and all of the decor was super fun. The only downside is that you have to stand and wait for the people infront of you and the people behind you rush you to finish the course super quick cause there’s no time in between groups at all even with reservations. Staff was nice and everything was clean and tidy.

Kartbahn Racing in Halifax has been satisfying the need for speed for over a decade. Racers of all ages can enjoy the thrill of navigating the track as fast as possible, with a minimum height requirement of 42 inches. The karts are known for their speed and maneuverability, providing an exhilarating experience for visitors.
Amazing outdoor Karting experience with a great track and decent Kart, short of only the pro grade ones on larger tracks. The management and service could be refined, but Lucas the owner makes it work quite well with what is available. Me and my friends always have a great adrenaline fueled time whenever we visit.
Mostafizur A — Google review
We visited the go-karting track with a group of four friends and had a great time. However, it's important to avoid braking during turns as it can be risky. The downside of our visit was the 1 hour and 30 minute wait in the hot summer weather. It would be much better if they offered online booking slots and allowed customers to complete necessary forms before arriving. This would streamline the process and save everyone's time. Overall, while the go-karting itself was fun, the waiting experience could definitely be improved. You can see the final score on the monitor once your lap will be finished. Regarding the pricing single session 10 mins it should be $25,triple session -$65.All these prices included all the gears.

Everything was great fantastic time .staff were great including the young gentlemen that logged us in was really great. Only one issue I found for a 5 star review was putting adults mixed with kids specially when adults want to race each other with no regard of must younger people on the track .

What a fun experience with stunning views. I took my mother and she loved it. The weather was perfect. They have a bar with snacks, beer and soft drinks. The music act was entertaining too. You really get a good view of the harbour. The crew was friendly and everything was clean.

I booked the Tall Ship Silva Sailing Cruise for a group of 17 but accidentally booked it for the wrong date and didn't realize until after the ticket date! Ambassatours was so amazing and understanding that they changed the tickets for me to the date I meant to book. I am so grateful. The cruise was lovely - amazing value for live music, scenic tour, very reasonably priced drinks, and the weather was perfect! Thank you so much!

We had an amazing cruise, one of the best ever! We had a scenic and relaxing sailing experience on this boat and the live musician Tommy Greene Jr., made it even more fun and special. This cruise exceeded expectations. Amazing views of both sides of the harbour. Staff and entertainment were amazing. A must do.
Chris P — Google review
We booked the evening cruise on our last evening visiting Halifax, and I have to say it was the highlight of our trip, worth the price. All of the crew were so nice and accommodating, we sat near the front of the ship where the live entertainment was. When the sails went up, they asked my toddler to help pull it up which was so fun. Eventually, my toddler started walking around and wanting to explore - he went up towards the steering wheel, and the captain and his crew were so nice to let him sit and steer a little. It was very special and thank you again for making the experience so memorable! Now onto the live entertainment, Gary - we didn't know what to expect with the live entertainment and assumed it would be some light jazz maybe? That would have been nice too. But Gary brought his young energy, great crowd work/personality and musical talent (mix of contemporary hits, plus "teenage dirtbag" mixed in which was so nostalgic and he did such a great job with it) to the ship. My family and I loved his music and definitely thought it made the experience even better. He was great with our toddler too, and even took some requests. I would have loved for the ride and the music to last even longer. I will say to go a bit earlier for your preferred seat - we got there about 15 min before sailing off and the boat was already mostly packed. Views and experience were amazing. I definitely recommend this boat ride for anyone, and to bring your family along too.

Went to see Little Shop of Horrors here! The cast, performance, and theater was great (even though we bought the cheapest tickets)! The seats/aisles were a bit snug, but I can't complain after such a great experience :) The merch was great as well!

This was an amazing show! The cast was so well selected and performed their roles perfectly. The sets were beautifully constructed and the transitions were seamless. I would highly recommend this show especially if you love musicals. The vocals were on point and the cast had the crowd engaged from the opening line to the dancing finale. Neptune is such a wonderful theatre. It is beautiful and spacious. The staff are delightful especially the bar staff who are incredibly personable and welcoming. The seats are comfortable and the bathrooms are clean. There are snacks and lots of drink options and they are well priced. Our party ranged in age from 10 to 55 and everyone had a fabulous time. There are booster seats for the kids which worked perfectly. It was a splurge but one that was well worth it to kick off a short trip to Halifax.

I love this spot, and I would love to leave a higher review. However, we have been coming to this theatre for over 20 years and loved the various Christmas shows. Unfortunately it’s gotten pretty stale in that department. The same Scrooge/Christmas Carol has now been playing for so many years I can’t even remember. We’ve seen it, and it’s pretty good, but it’s long overstayed its welcome at this point. Time to bring in a new holiday play…

My 1st visit was to see their production of Disney's Frozen the musical. I was blown away by the calibre of their show. I've seen the actual original show on Broadway and the official US tour and the talent I saw at Neptune was as good and personally I preferred Neptune's cast. The sets and costumes were also wonderful. For Elisa's signature song the set here was more cohesive than the Broadway version which had Elsa standing on an empty stage with crystal backdrop for the whole song. Noteworthy is that this was the Canadian premier of Frozen. Disney has never granted the rights in Canada before. It was also one of the first ever North American non-replica productions after the official US tour closed in fall of 2024. The staff at the theatre were also lovely and ready to answer any questions and always had a smile. I sat in the front row and another night back in row M and both had great views. I don't think there are any bad seats in the house. As someone who doesn't drink a lot I really appreciate that they included a fun mocktail in their themed drinks for the show. It was delicious and I think I'll be making these at home now! If you ever get a chance to see a show at Neptune, especially when they're doing a big musical, definitely get tickets.

Lawrencetown Beach Provincial Park is a popular destination in Nova Scotia, known for its surfing, boardwalks, and walking trails. Located just east of Dartmouth, it offers a beautiful setting for relaxation and beach activities. The beach is famous for its excellent surf, making it one of the best spots not only in Nova Scotia but also in North America. Visitors can bring their own boards or sign up for surf lessons on-site to ride the waves.
Very nice beach! Clearly popular with the surfing crowd, but my toddler had a blast playing in the sand and rocks.

What a gorgeous beach with plenty of surfers! Beautiful sandy beach enjoyable water with plenty of free parking with clean restrooms. Definitely a go to spot on your trip to Halifax. Dog friendly beach and they will thank you for taking them.

Nice place. The waves are big and it's fun to explore and find things near the rocks. At the time we went it wasn't too full. Parking fairly limited but it's a double sided knife because it limits the number of potential visitors, which means it ends up being less packed.
Tony B — Google review
Beautiful beach. The water was clear and the waves was great for the surfers. There is a little boardwalk to the beach but once you get off there's about 20 feet of rocks before you hit the sand. The water was colllld.

My wife and myself are traveling from Ontario.. all of Prince Edward Island and into Nova Scotia... Lawrence Town Beach was on my list and I could hardly wait and I finally hit it today... Beautiful waves and water was kind of warm as at least I can manage... My wife had a blast just standing in and around the right spot when the waves would hit her and not too far out that would knock her down but she did learn her lesson 3 times 😁 I have many many videos that I recorded with my cell phone for the memories that will last forever because I'm not sure if we would ever get back to this location again. If you are traveling across the maritimes and you get close to Halifax, this is only maybe a short drive from the big city and well worth it
Chris — Google review
It's a very long, very rocky and quite cold beach. I don't know when it's possible to have a warm period here, but when the sun is warm, the air is quiet hot and there's almost no wind a little deeper, on this beach there's a strong wind and the water is 15 degrees Celsius. It's probably a good place for surfers and those who like cold water, but I didn't really like it here. This place has a normal parking line, small area with changing rooms, showers, toilets and surf gear rentals near the beach.

I routinely use the ferry to commute to and from Halifax which is a lovely little trip with views of the harbor and views of Halifax and Dartmouth downtowns. The ferries are great, but the area serving the should have more restrooms- and too bad that the Tim Hortons by the waiting hall closed. That corner has a whiff of abandon about it. The farmers’ market on weekends is fun, even if prices bite: the produce quality is appreciated ( oh those fresh eggs from a lively Amish woman!). The bread and sweet selection is ample; the produce doesn’t disappoint either. There’s plenty of handmade trinkets to be eyed. Fish is available, too, both in cooked and raw varieties. Check out the waterfront trail, sample fish and chips or just hang out in the sun taking in the views.

There is also a library and flight simulator, along with an art gallery and gift shop.
Hello! I had the honor of crossing the threshold of this small museum and I was pleasantly surprised by the selflessness of the volunteers who work every day to preserve a part of Canadian aviation history. There, the government needs to get involved and build a large hangar to invest in this museum where children can learn a lot to be proud to be Canadian! Congratulations to all involved, and may God rest the souls of those who sacrificed themselves for a better future for those left behind!

A wonderful museum focussing on Naval aviation in Canada. It has just reopened after significant renovations. The aircraft are immaculate and the artwork is extensive. I’m pictured with the local artist who painted my intercept of a Soviet spy plane off the coast of Norway in the early 80’s.

We wandered in here after a suggestion on the Harbour Hopper. It is the provincial government building. The art and architecture was cool. There was an exhibit showing buildings pre-confederation from across Nova Scotia. The provincial government was not in session when we went. There were tours available, but we just wandered on our own. Viola Desmond's pardon was hanging on the wall which was a great talking point for my kids as she has recently become the face of our 10 dollar bill. Great starting point to tall about confederation with my kids (8 and 10). Recommend a stop (it's free btw).

The Atlantic Canada Aviation Museum is a captivating destination that offers a journey through the rich history of civilian and military aviation in Canada. Housed in a historic military hangar, the museum showcases an impressive collection of vintage planes, pilot uniforms, wartime relics, and various aviation memorabilia. Visitors can explore cockpit replicas, view old engines, and immerse themselves in the diverse history of aircraft. The museum is particularly appealing to aviation enthusiasts and families with children who have a passion for airplanes.
Relatively small but very good museum. It hasn't a payment entrance, but they have a donation box and it was a pleasure to donate the price they suggest($10/person). And for keeping the place and exhibits in good condition, and for an interesting experience in general. At the beginning they have a room with a lot of models and a souvenir shop. Then you enter their 1st room with some helicopters, one old fighter and different historical exhibits around. Then there is a big hangar with many other helicopters, some fighters and many engine examples. You can enter one old passenger and one military planes to see from inside(on photos). And they have on so called "highlight" of their museum: flight simulator. It was a very good decision to put it here. So I definitely recommend visiting this museum.

What an aviation experience. Welcomed as we walked in, given a quick information about the exhibit/gift shop/toilets and this place was donation only ( 10/person) which honestly still is rather cheap so we donated anyways! The only minus I have which honestly doesn't beat the experience is that is was a warm day and the place is not fully climate controlled so I got a little hot when walking around but in all will not effect rating! Lots of planes and history in here. Worth bringing kids too! Very family friendly area!

Recently came at this museum for a visit. I driven by this place hundreds of times in the last few years and I have always been intrigue. This was by far one of the best and informative museum I have ever done. They have a fantastic collection of items on display, very worth seeing! Place was very clean, well maintained, very well displayed too. Met some of the staff members who are mostly volunteers. Highly recommended for anyone to visit, you will not be disapointed!

Very friendly staff and very big amount of beautiful planes including jets and helicopters. Affordable plane models at the gift shop with a lot of great options. But I hope they can sell more civil aviation aircraft model. Overall very good. Highly recommend to anyone who wants to visit Halifax.

Small but plenty to see! What a great museum for anyone not just aviation enthusiasts! Staff were super friendly one member of staff even gave us a free lift to the airport at the end of their shift! All staff were super knowledgeable and the aircraft and information on show is outstanding. The shop there is like a dream to any model enthusiast having thousands of models from modern jets to early plane prototypes even model cars and star wars space ships! We really enjoyed our visit and will be back again to see what new things are on show!

This is an absolute hidden gem! The CF101 Voodoo parked outside is a small indication of what lies within. The aircraft are beautifully restored, polished and painted, with informative signs. If you have a long stopover at Halifax Stanfield International Airport, you can take the free shuttle to the Airport hotel next door. Trackers, Sea Kings and a beautiful CF-5 from 434 “Bluenose” Squadron. Entrance is free, but donations are encouraged. Incredible gift shop, with models, books, badges, patches and airplane toys.

Located just minutes from Halifax Stanfield International Airport, the Atlantic Canada Aviation Museum is a true gem for aviation enthusiasts and families seeking an educational and engaging outing. Operated by a dedicated team of volunteers, this museum offers an immersive experience that traces the rich and varied history of aviation in the Atlantic provinces, from Canada’s first powered flight in 1909 to modern jet aircraft of the 60s, 70s, and 80s. One of the most remarkable aspects of this museum is its admission model: entry is free, though visitors are encouraged to leave a donation (a suggested $8 to $10 per person is noted to support museum maintenance). This approach makes the experience accessible to all while allowing visitors to directly contribute to preserving this unique heritage. Donations are vital for keeping exhibits in excellent condition and funding ongoing restoration projects, reflecting the museum’s strong community commitment. The museum’s collection is impressive, featuring no fewer than 24 meticulously restored vintage aircraft, ranging from gliders and hot air balloons to military fighters and search-and-rescue planes. Highlights include a replica of the Silver Dart, the first aircraft to perform a powered flight in the British Empire, and a Boeing 737NG flight simulator, installed in July 2023, which delights visitors seeking an interactive experience. Guests can also explore the cockpits of certain aircraft, such as a long-range Argus, and discover engines, uniforms, medals, and other artifacts that tell the story of civilian and military aviation. The museum is impeccably organized, with two main buildings: one housing helicopters, a vintage fighter, and historical exhibits, and a large hangar displaying additional aircraft and engines. Exhibits are well-documented, with informative panels detailing significant events, such as Halifax’s role in the diverted flights of September 11, 2001. The volunteers, often aviation enthusiasts themselves, are welcoming, knowledgeable, and eager to share their expertise, making the visit even more enriching. The museum also boasts a well-stocked gift shop, perfect for fans of aircraft models (over 4,000 in stock!), t-shirts, or other aviation-related items. For families, the experience is particularly well-suited, with interactive exhibits and activities that captivate children, such as the Billy Mink scavenger hunt, a playful mascot guiding young visitors through the museum. Nestled in a peaceful wooded setting in Enfield, the museum is easily accessible by car from downtown Halifax (about 30 minutes) and offers free parking. It is also wheelchair-accessible, making it an inclusive destination. While the museum is open daily from 9 AM to 5 PM, it’s advisable to check winter hours, as they may vary. In summary, the Atlantic Canada Aviation Museum is a must-visit for anyone interested in aviation history or looking for an educational and entertaining experience. The combination of a diverse collection, passionate staff, and donation-based entry makes it both accessible and invaluable. Whether you’re passing through Halifax or a local resident, a visit to this museum is sure to impress and inspire.

If you enjoy aircraft and their history, we highly recommend this museum. This is wonderful aviation museum with some classic aircraft for viewing. The exhibits are well done with a focus on aircraft history from the Atlantic region. There are examples of Canadian Air Force aircraft from WWI up into the 1980s. We really liked the F35 Sabre used by the Golden Hawks - the predecessor of the Snow Birds. In addition they have one of the most extensive collection of aircraft models and accessories (paints, brushes, and glues) for sale that I have ever seen. Plan at for at least two hours if visiting!

The park offers 4 kilometers of looped trails, some of which are designated as off-leash areas for dogs. Visitors can enjoy the shade provided by the towering hemlocks while taking leisurely walks or going for a jog. The famous Heart Shaped Pond, built by Prince Edward for his love, Madame Julie de St.
This is a beautiful area with walking trails and a one-of-a-kind heart-shaped pond. It's an excellent spot for nature enthusiasts of any age, and especially nice for dog-walking.

Hemlock Ravine Park is a hidden gem for nature lovers. The trails are well-kept and lead you through serene forest areas filled with towering hemlock trees. The heart-shaped pond adds a unique and charming touch to the park, perfect for photos or a peaceful moment. It’s a great spot for casual hikes, dog walks, or simply enjoying some quiet time in nature. Highly recommend for anyone looking to escape the city and enjoy some natural beauty close to Halifax.

Been a while since I have been here, but positively surprised that the parking lot is now paved and spots marked with lines. Before that, I always wondered what people were thinking when parking, as so much space was wasted. Very nice now, even designated motorcycle parking. No designated RV parking, and unless it is a Van, I do now recommend driving up here. Not much space to turn around when parking lot is full, and narrow road. Lots of different hikes, for different needs. Short , or long by combining a few. Signage indicating which trail you are on and where you are, as well as when the dog leash area starts and stops. Very quiet, and mostly gravel paths, very easy to walk. Lots of shade thanks to the trees, unless it’s a hot summer day, maybe bring a light sweater. Bring bug spray! Benches with garbage bins spread out during the park. No washrooms or stores nearby. People live along the road, and I have seen busy days where parking was full, and people just parked in front of people’s houses or drive ways. Don’t do that!
Marie — Google review
I like this spot and really enjoyed the nature here. The trail was not very long but good enough for small hiking. It was my first time there and I was expecting to see more natural views. All the scenes were the same but still had a good time. Was super busy when we got there... seems like it’s a super popular place for everyone. This park is not very far from my home so probably will go back sometimes!
Carrie G — Google review
Great little walking path. Met a few very well behaved dogs on the off leash section. Maintained well, very safe easy walk. The duck pond was super cute too.
Tracey C — Google review
The trails look like looping around but they are not always. Well marked at turns and joints of the paths, but it's quite easy yet tempting to go off the trail. During summer time, walking with the brook babbling in the background can be very soothing. While during the winter season, trails are not under maintenance, so always put on the proper hiking boots for the ice and/or stumps.
Jolly R — Google review
A very enjoyable walk/hike for pets, kids and adults. There are plenty of hills but also different trail options depending on your preference. On and off-leash areas are marked (although most dogs are off leash throughout) and there are a few benches near the parking lot by the pond. Parking is limited so arrive early and if headed there in the winter, I'd suggest packing a pair of crampons as the hills can be very icy.
Katie E — Google review
Nice park for a hike in the woods. Just small trails and woods, nothing else. So, came prepared because there's no washroom neither water (at least where we went). There is a good size of it where you can take your fur off leash. Lots of ups and downs for a good exercise. It is close to a school so your kid can have some fun before or after the walk. Really quiet. Be aware of the mosquitoes too, there is a lot of them.

Visitors can enjoy activities like birdwatching, hiking, biking, swimming, boating (including paddleboat rentals), and observing local wildlife such as beaver dams. Stand-up paddle boarding is a popular activity at the park's Long Lake. The dog-friendly park also provides opportunities for fishing, camping, geocaching and more.
Long Lake Provincial Park in Halifax is a beautiful winter retreat. In winter, the frozen lakes are perfect for ice skating, while the surrounding trails are ideal for cross-country skiing and winter hikes. The park is known not only for its natural beauty but also for its rich history. During World War I, military fortifications were set up here to protect the city. It is also traditional land of the Indigenous peoples, who used these waters for fishing and hunting. With abundant fish in the lakes and a peaceful winter atmosphere, Long Lake is the perfect place to enjoy both nature and history. A true gem for locals and city guests.

Great provincial park for any daily activity. It isnt a small area or lake either. I've enjoyed paddleboarding and dog walking there this summer. The water is not cold to me (Alberta girl here) so I'm often on my board until we'll after 6pm. I've been told to always wear water shoes in this lake due to lost of old fishing lines etc in the water. So I do that.

A very interesting hike! The starting point is next to the second-hand market and the course takes about 2 hours. Recommended for new hikers! It is possible to see small waterfalls and streams, observe different plants, there are no existing paths and many times it is necessary to walk on grassy areas with tree roots. Hiking navigation app can be used. Comfortable shoes, light and breathable clothes are recommended (the woods have a lot of humidity), refreshing drinks and energy bars. Enjoy your hike!

Beautiful and picturesque trail along the lake with couple of view points to enjoy. We also found some wild blueberry bushes on our way and stopped to take photos of them. There’s also a canoe rental place that you can rent a canoe and paddle in the lake. Strongly recommended to anyone enjoying the nature.

A trail lover's dream come true. So many places to visit and do many different ways it can change depending on the time of year so the main trail is never boring. Great for biking, walking, running and ATVb lovers. Tip : The loops (off main trail) are super fun but watch out for bear and moose

Well maintained trail and great views. This is an amazing spot to enjoy the sunset. The trail is quite long but with frequent spots to sit and rest. There is an ample spaces for cars in the parking lot too. Great place will regularly go there for sure.
Jaipreet H — Google review
It has great trails through the woods in a peaceful setting, however over the past year or so it has gotten really busy with the addition of the trail along the northwest arm drive that is basically a 10ft wide gravel road. There are still trails throughout that are more natural though.
Dalton L — Google review
Long lake is definitely one of my favourite lakes for swimming, probably #1. It's absolutely ginormous, and is surrounded by flat rocks for lounging. Also a great spot for hiking the perimeter of the lake. Also having it be a 10 min drive from downtown makes it pretty unbeatable.

An excellent gateway for someone in Halifax close by in NS. Great for family picnics, they have an excellent children's playground with a variety of playsets. And the short hike around the trails, wooden stairs and waterfall is wonderful.

Great place to relax during a busy day..can sit in the many relaxing chairs provided..read some history on different plaques... point pleasant park just across the way to explore as well.
Tina B — Google review
City of Halifax designated it an encampment site for those experiencing homelessness, then kicked them out when the Juno Awards came to town, and now it's inaccessible, while tents crowd the median of the neighboring street. Truly shows the decline of the quality of life in Halifax.
Patty D — Google review
Is now a tent town. With the drugs and trash they leave everywhere, you really shouldn't bring kids here anymore. Last time I was there just stopped to sit for a second. Had 4 different people ask me for money or smokes etc. And one tent persons dog was running around without leash. Almost feels like those dystopian futures you see in movies. Kind of sad really.
Andow R — Google review
The park fills up with homeless people and their tents that the police regularly move on when it gets too much of a sorry sight. People living in the area have been warned about increased drug use and used needles lying on the ground. It may have been nice at one.point but it isn't anymore.
Camille H — Google review
I like this park, it's definitely different since the homeless have made camps but I never feel unsafe. They are welcome to stay as long as I feel safe and can also enjoy the park. I really enjoy the lazy seating by the fountain.
Katie-lyn A — Google review
Nice mid-city park. Lots of trees and benches. In the summer there is a nice fountain. Lots of traffic all around so not really quiet. These past few weeks 1/2 of the park is fenced off because of the fallen crane.
