Stowe Mountain Resort in Vermont is a premier destination offering an array of activities for all seasons. With two mountains, Spruce Peak and Mount Mansfield, the resort boasts over 100 trails for skiing and snowboarding. In addition to winter sports, visitors can enjoy hiking, golfing, mountain biking, rock climbing, and zip lining during the warmer months.
The resort is divided into 2 main parts: Mansfield (for intermediates) and spruce peak (beginners). Spruce peak has a bunch of dining options, from small coffee shops to upscale restaurants. Mansfield side has cozy lodges to get warm in between your runs and The Cliff House Restaurant at the summit (needs reservations). You can take easy gondola to move between two mountains. If you have epic pass use the app to get the latest updates from the operations crew. Overall, loved skiing here this season and loved free parking on weekdays.

I've been skiing at Stowe since the late 90s and I just love this mountain. There is plenty to ski for every level. Stunning views. Like every mountain, conditions are weather dependent, so you either plan ahead or roll the dice. I rolled the dice and got lucky. The previous week saw about a foot of fresh snow, there was not a cloud in the sky and it was cold enough to keep the crowds away the whole morning. The grooming team did a great job of refreshing the mountain. There were plenty of powder stashes in the woods and the sides of trails. My husband no longer skis, so he set himself up in The Den at the Mansfield Lodge and said that the staff kept coming over to make sure he was comfortable or if he needed anything. The food prices are high, but with the epic pass discount, comparable to most resorts. I really dislike how expensive the window prices of lift tickets have become. It's shameful. Skiing should be more inclusive. I bought a 4-pack epic pass the previous year, which came in a the top-end of what I'm willing to spend for a day of skiing and offers a good variety of destinations. If it weren't for that, Stowe would be off my list of places to ski.

First, you should know that The Sound of Music is my all-time favorite movie. I cry every time. The Trapp Family Lodge in Stowe, VT was our very last stop on our 2-week long roadtrip through the northeast. I had no idea it existed until I started researching places for us to stay in Stowe and just happened to stumble upon it. I started crying and sent it to my husband and told him we were going! LOL! This mountaintop is where the von Trapp family finally settled after fleeing from Austria. We participated in a history tour and learned even more about the von Trapp family and we also got to meet their Scottish Highlander cows. I fell even more in love with their story. It's definitely more than what we would normally spend on a hotel per night, but it was worth every penny. The resort was soooo very nice! We went the first few days of November and it was a little tooooo cold for us, so we would want to go either during the fall or springtime! It has just snowed right before we got there. I don't do the cold! LOL! We ate at their restaurant TWICE because it was soooo tasty. YUM! My mouth is watering just thinking about it. We got to see Maria's gravesite and that was emotional, too. I would recommend watching the movie first if you're not familiar with this story because you will have an even greater appreciate for it whenever you get there! You should do the history tour, too! I bought two different books and read one of them on the way home. Gosh, it was just the best and my heart was very full.

Very good hotel with plenty of amenities Came in summer but I’m sure it’s great in every season specially winter to ski. Very convenient. It has a gondola on site.

Fall Gondola ride was beautiful with the colors. The views from the summit were spectacular.

Really enjoyed my experience at Stowe Mountain. Parking was close to the slopes and spring skiing during the week didn't have any lift lines. Good variety of green blue and black trails. Very Scenic mountain. Highly recommend.
Rob J — Google review
I had a great time with my family. It’s a nice resort, a bit icy, but that’s to be expected with east coast skiing. The staff were friendly and the runs were mostly well kept. I say mostly, because one run had a lot of rocks on it and the snow was so thin that you could see dirt, but that was because it was on the outskirts.
Chris R — Google review
The snow and trails were pure magic—easily five stars. Skiiing through pristine runs was an unforgettable experience. But at $227 for a lift ticket plus parking, the cost puts a damper on the accessibility. Three stars for the price, because should the thrill of skiing really come at such a steep price?

Mountains
Mt. Mansfield, the highest peak in Vermont, is a hub for recreational activities such as skiing and hiking. It offers stunning views of the Green Mountains, White Mountains, Adirondacks, Lake Champlain, and Mont Royal in Quebec. Hiking trails like Cliff Trail and Long Trail provide varying levels of difficulty for hikers to explore the alpine ecosystems. The area around Mt. Mansfield has seen growth with accommodations, dining options, shops, and entertainment along Mountain Road.
The weather was incredibly cold, and the wind was whipping. It was cloudy towards the summit so you were unable to see what you were getting yourself into. I will definitely start by saying I was in love with this hike. Something for everyone. However once you started getting worn down by the wind, and the clouds started to unveil what you were getting into there technically false summits in a sense. so you’re coming up to the first one you think you’re good then you climb on it to see there’s another one then climb on that to see that there’s another one. However, I will go back to my previous statement saying I really did the scrambles, the bridges, the little waterfalls, the Alpine trees. It just really was a great hike. Had it warmer and not foggy I would’ve loved it more. The entry fee is five dollars per person. I did want to note that. I do recommend this mountain. The views were absolutely incredible. especially in the fall.
Shianne P — Google review
I totally loved the hike along with my friends. A wonderful experience. Best day ever spent at an elevation
Narukulla S — Google review
Stunningly beautiful. There are plenty of trails to the peak, some of them very difficult. We drove up the Toll Road, which is a little pricey but takes you up a winding incline with shockingly good views that doubles as ski trails during the winter. The road takes you to the visitor center at Lot A, and this is on Vermont's Lon Trail near a peak called The Nose. We walked from The Nose to The Chin, which despite being all along the top of the mountain was pretty strenuous. Views include being able to look down on the Stowe Mountain Resort gondola (another option for getting most of the way up the mountain), and seeing Lake Champlain on a clear day. Note: due to alpine conditions there are guide strings to keep you from trampling endangered flora.
Ed H — Google review
We did the Long Trail here. It was quite windy up there and very cold and wet c although the views were fantastic especially the alpine zone. Some of the shorter hiking trails (e.g., subway) turned out to be quite challenging and technical.
Hassan R — Google review
Very hazy 10-3-25, up before noon. Drive wasn't bad. Had to park up and wait for a departure from the top lot. Kinda pricy trip for 2. Worth the vig though. Not a rough hike.
John S — Google review
Recently, my friends and I took a trip from Burlington, VT, to hike Mount Mansfield, the highest peak in Vermont at 4,393 feet. The drive to the mountain from Burlington is about 57 miles, and once we arrived, the hike did not disappoint. After a 20-mile drive from Stowe to the trailhead. And they charge us 79$ into single vehicle with four passengers.we reached the walking path, which leads to an incredible 360-degree view from the summit. The hike from the path to the “subway” section took us about 35-40 minutes, and the scenery was stunning all the way through. One interesting thing about the trail is a thread tied with stones that marks the path. I learned that you’re not allowed to cross that line because the area is home to some endangered plant species. This thread helps protect the delicate vegetation by keeping hikers on the designated path from start to finish. You’re allowed to bring food and drinks, but it’s important to carry all waste back with you—there are no trash bins or water sources along the way, so make sure you bring plenty of your own water. While the hike was overall very enjoyable, I would not recommend it for small children, as parts of the trail are quite risky. It could be challenging for older folks as well unless they have someone looking out for them. Mount Mansfield offers a stunning and unique hiking experience, with breathtaking views and an opportunity to connect with nature while respecting the fragile environment.
Bikash P — Google review
My favorite hike in Vermont, especially if you take the Sunset Ridge trail. Absolutely amazing on a clear day. Prepare for a long hike with good shoes, snacks and water. It can also be quite windy on the ridge and at the summit.
Kim F — Google review
Prepare for a long day of hiking uphill if you want to make it to the summit, if you want to save your energy I suggest hiking early so you can take the gondola ride back down, otherwise, it’s a very tiring (but doable) loop. Beautiful views, brief areas where you actually have to do a bit of rock climbing, and very windy at the top. Loved this hike up mount Mansfield.

Restaurant
Piecasso is a trendy restaurant and lounge in Stowe, known for its funky decor and hand-tossed gourmet pizzas. The eatery offers a variety of Italian standards and craft brews to accompany the delicious pies. Established in 2000 by Eduardo Rovetto, Piecasso is housed within the former Gale Farm Center and Grill 108 buildings. The menu features New York-style pizzas available in different sizes and crust options including traditional, gluten-free, or cauliflower crusts.
We stopped in for a bite to eat while driving down highway 100. We got there after the lunch rush and were seated promptly. The service was friendly, and I have no complaints. They had a high chair and offered crayons for the kids. We ordered garlic knots and a pepperoni and bacon pizza. The pizza is served with various seasonings on the side. Everything was hot, fresh, and good. I'd stop in again.
Desiree C — Google review
Fantastic pizza restaurant! Great atmosphere and super friendly staff. Cheese pizza that was perfectly cooked with the just the right sauce to dough ratio. Also had a house cheeseburger with Cabot cheddar that was amazing. Topped it off with a Clausthaler zero. Highly recommend.
Robert — Google review
Our server seemed really busy — after taking our order and bringing the food, she never came back to refill our water, and it took quite a while to get the check. As for the food, I thought the pizza crust was pretty good, and the pesto flavor was unique, but it was a bit overbaked. I had to pick off some burnt tomatoes (or something really burnt). One of the olives on the pizza unexpectedly had a pit, which was quite a shock and actually pretty dangerous while eating. The fried calamari was also a bit disappointing — the taste was ok but there were a lot of fried onion strips and banana peppers mixed in with the calamari. In the end I felt the calamari was too oily.
PY Y — Google review
The food was delicious, and the manager was truly outstanding friendly, attentive, and made sure we had a wonderful time once we were seated. However, our experience started off poorly. The host who greeted us was quite unwelcoming and made us feel uncomfortable right from the start. She didn’t want to seat us even though there were plenty of tables available, and we noticed she gave tables to guests who arrived both before and after us without a reservation or waitlist. We drove two hours to dine here and were very polite to her, but she was about to turn us away which was disappointing for such a nice restaurant. Hopefully, the management team takes this seriously. Thankfully, the manager, Jess, completely turned things around with her kindness and professionalism. We truly appreciated her effort and hospitality. Everyone else on the team was very friendly and helpful , that’s what makes this place deserve a 5-star ⭐️ review.

While touring Vermont, we decided to dine at Piecasso for dinner. What a great choice this was. For an appetizer we chose the Garlic Knots with Marinara Sauce. I had the Pasta Rovetto, my friends had Spaghetti & a Leonardo Pizza. Everything was delicious and prepared just right. I wish I had asked for extra Garlic in the Rovetto. Our server was Juan. He was very polite, professional & just a real gentleman. He made sure we had everything we needed. We definitely enjoyed our 5 star dining experience. Thank you Juan!
Jim G — Google review
Busy place! We were there for dinner on a Tuesday night. It was trivia night which was fun. We ordered the spaghetti and meatballs, a calzone, the old school supreme pizza, cup of Butternut Squash soup, pino Grigio, and the Mountain Glow Cider. Definitely a good spot and we would dine there again.
Bevin C — Google review
Today is 10/11/2025. I drove 2 hours in order to eat at their restaurant. The host who works today is very bad. Both habits and personality, including insulting customers. Or maybe it‘s because I went to Asian people. Which is a very bad experience until we met the manager Jess nice and very perfect. He apologized and served us very well and we were very impressed with his food and service. If I am the owner of the restaurant, I see these messages. What should you do with your host? The table is full but said there is no table. There is no reservation sign. Inform that the restaurant is busy. The service is not in time. If not, please leave the restaurant.
Pat B — Google review
personally think this place is a bit overhyped. We joined the waitlist in advance (which was nice so we didn’t have to wait on-site), but once we were seated, it took quite a while for our appetizer to arrive. The food itself was pretty good, though—not bad overall.

Smugglers' Notch State Park Campground is situated about six miles from Stowe and offers a narrow pass through the Green Mountains, surrounded by towering cliffs. The area has a rich history of illegal activities, including smuggling cattle, goods, runaway slaves, and booze during prohibition. The park is open year-round for various recreational activities such as hiking and rock climbing.
I have camped at Smugglers’ Notch state park a few times and I enjoy it each time. The lean to campsites are my favorite setup but I have also stayed at the tent sights. The campsites are clean and well maintained as well as the facilities. The campground is located in the beautiful mountains with waterfalls within walking distance, and an easy drive into Stowe Vermont. My stay here has always been peaceful and regenerative being surrounded by natural forests and people respecting the quiet hours. It’s important to be careful with your food storage and keeping food locked in your car when not in use because there are active bears. I have never encountered a bear here, but we have had chipmunks steal some berries while we were cooking breakfast.
Kit J — Google review
Tis a very nice and clean campground. The site was large enough for 3 x 2 man tents with room for a car. Beware of the bears as there are a ton of them. We had a Mama bear with her 3 cubs scampering up a tree right next to my tent. They roam the campground on the count of negligent campers of which there are tons of!! Be careful and keep your dog leashed and food and coolers in your car. Peace and love!
Adam C — Google review
Great spot and we'll maintained campground! Went early September and weather was nice and crisp, and staff were helpful! There were signs of bears active, and sure enough a bear was about 50 feet from our site, called the ranger and they came by quickly to scare it off. Overall wonderful experience with nature!
Sasha L — Google review
Loved this! Convenient and comfortable! Great campground! Clean bathrooms and showers (paid) ! Site was private enough, we had no neighbors. Some bear on site but everything was fine. The staff were well informed and easy to reach after hours.

Wonderful, clean and quiet campground. level and roomy sites. Nice staff that communicated well. We had no issue as others have noted about patrols. I do believe some people or paranoid or possibly believe the whole world revolves around them. If you are looking for a clean, quiet and comfotable campground-this is it.

Wow, what a gorgeous campground! Clean, beautiful, spacious/private camp sites with fire pits all ready for a 🔥. Totally spotless restrooms with great showers (yes, please!!). The wonderful, kind, & helpful park rangers & employees made our time there even better (a huge thank you to Susan! You are sooo awesome and deserve a big, fat raise!) 😀 We enjoyed every moment (even with a few heavy rain storms). We plan to return soon & often. 5 stars is not enough! Recommended? Obviously, YES!! Thank you!!! Julie & Robert

Lovely well run tidy campground. Great staff. Good location. Nice facilities. Easy.
Salty C — Google review
Nice and beautiful state park campground. However, the ranger was EXTREMELY rude. We made a wrong turn and accidentally turn to the road towards the campground, and decided to look around and see if it’s something worth coming back for. We stopped at one of the campground and took a pic with the trees, not even a minute, the ranger yelled at us, and said, “you didn’t stop and pay, you have to leave NOW!!! Definitely not coming back that does not welcome visitors.

Stowe Cider is a funky taproom located just a short drive north from Stowe Village. The tasting room and production facility offer on-tap cider, including flights, in a rustic and comfortable setting with picnic tables and games. Using locally grown apples from Champlain Orchards, the Winders family produces popular ciders such as Summer Shandy, Strawberry Fields, Safety Meeting, and High & Dry. Additionally, visitors can enjoy live music at the taproom on Friday and Saturday evenings.
I love exploring new cider places, and on my trip to Stowe, I was excited to see Stowe Cider visible from the road with plenty of parking. We went just for drinks. We elected to sit outside on the deck under an umbrella. We could hear the band from the Japanese restaurant next door. I ordered a flight which consisted of four ciders that I could choose. The server wrote the initials of my choices on a board and told me what they were. I ordered less sweet, more dry kinds. There were subtle differences between them based on the fruit notes. I did miss getting a Huckleberry flavor like I do when I go to Washington state. Our server was upbeat and friendly even though we only ordered drinks. Tip: To enter, use the doors that say "use other door," I thought the arrow was saying go to an entrance around the building but that was an employee only door.
Claire W — Google review
Incredible space. You can enjoy food and drinks inside or out in front, but the best area is behind, outside in the back! Picnic tables, Adirondack chairs, fire pits (hopefully they're not charging for wood) and food to go, creates an awesome experience! Inside, there's a nice stage for live music and dining area for food and drinks. Pretty freaking dope!
Cynthia C — Google review
Fun spot for cider! We also grabbed some snacks - fries and mac n cheese. Everyone here was friendly and having a good time. The staff make you feel very welcomed. And the cider selection is second to none. They have three different flights that allow you to taste many of the flavors. They are also more than happy to give you a sample of anything. Large outdoor patio seating area and also plenty of indoor seating if you prefer. The fries and mac n cheese were also outstanding. Great crunch and seasoning on the fries and the cheesy, gooey, creamy texture of the mac was perfect. 100% would go back.
Vince M — Google review
We only got a couple of drinks there and stuck around for the live music - which was super fun. The ciders were excellent, and the place has a cool vibe in general. Worth a stop!
Liran T — Google review
We actually met a local at a grocery store who told us to go down here to try the cider. It’s a fun brewery environment where the waitresses are super friendly and really hope you have a great time. We ordered a flight of cider and got to try some different ones. It was fun and I actually liked one of them. Would I buy this to drink at any other time? Probably not. But if you’re in Vermont it is definitely a local beverage to experience.
Marty P — Google review
Very cool space but food was not great. The salsa was basically tomato paste and my burger was too raw in the middle so I didn’t finish it. Staff was friendly and environment was nice so that helped a bit. Priced food than I’d like for it to be undercooked.
Sammi G — Google review
Stowe Cider has amazing cider & food on-site made by Shakedown Street BBQ. The atmosphere is awesome - they host live music & have a beautiful outdoor seating area.
Ariana G — Google review
We stopped here for a bite one afternoon on our trip and found a hidden gem! There’s plenty of cider to choose from and other beverages and cocktails if you don’t like cider. The food, however was unreal!! Might be the best fries we’ve ever had and we have a list going. Great vibe outside and fun music (just look away from the dumpsters and instead look at the pretty view). Would recommend!

Nestled in the charming town of Stowe, the Vermont Ski and Snowboard Museum is a delightful destination for winter sports enthusiasts. Established in 1988 within the historic Old Town Meeting House, this museum serves as a tribute to Vermont's rich skiing and snowboarding heritage. Visitors can explore an impressive collection of over 10,000 artifacts that chronicle the evolution of ski equipment, clothing, and art.
Adorable little museum ($5 entrance) with the history of VT skiing. We saw the lost ski hill exhibit which was very interesting and now we notice some of those places when we drive around the state. Cool place to spend 30 minutes if you're into the evolution of skiing.

Must check if you are in the area. I've seen a few exhibitions, and it's always great! $ contributions welcome. Lots of amazing memorabilia, great staff.
Hugues B — Google review
It is a small museum that brings together past and today. I learned a lot about the history of skies and also enjoyed the modern art graphic design exhibit downstairs. The posters in the shop are also fun and you never know what you will find sifting through the photos.
Meltem B — Google review
This was entertaining in terms of seeing the old ski equipment, ranging back about 100 years. Beware the museum is very small, so if you're tight on cash I probably wouldn't recommend. Nothing interactive and the descriptions of some of the items seemed very amateur.
Kate S — Google review
Frankly, not much there. What is there is ok and interesting, but just not much to look at, and some photos and artifacts weren't labeled so I didn't know what I was looking at. Other ski museums have much much more. But, if you have some time to kill while in town, it's a good stop.

Stowe Mercantile is an awesome country store. They have a wide variety of souvenirs, gifts, candy, & snacks. Their maple syrup selection is huge. Great one-stop shop for all things Vermont!

We had a fantastic experience in this store. Plenty of small souvenir options to keep memories of Vermont. They offer free sample of each syrup, pickle, and packed food. It helped us to pick the best food we like. The price is a bit high. But compare to their food quality, it’s okay.

Stowe Mercantile is such a cool place! This store has just about anything you could want to buy from the tourist destination of Stowe at somewhat reasonable prices. I mean it is Stowe after all, so you can expect to pay a little more for your merchandise, trinket and souvenirs. I especially enjoyed the candy section as I could have been in there for hours looking at all the different delectable, delicious delights. There is a lot to look at in this store, so expect to get lost in here for 30 minutes at least. The kids will especially like the candy section. Since I’m a big kid, I loved it!

Conveniently located on Main Street in Stowe. This is a great store with tons of items to choose from. You can spend a lot of time here looking for perfect souvenirs to take home. We left with some delicious fudge, maple pumpkin butter, maple shortbread cookies, and maple apple drizzle. They also have a great selection of t-shirts.

There is a great variety of options to shop for at Stowe Mercantile in Vermont! This store is really cool and old-fashioned. They offer everything from candy to clothes! It can be a little overwhelming since there is so much to look at. I wish I had planned for a bit more time to spend here. We also had a small bite to eat at their little cafe located on the second floor. Fresh sandwiches and snacks at an affordable price! Overall, I really enjoyed my shopping spree here!!

Loved this store! Had a great experience and they even shipped my stuff home for me. It arrived right after we got home in perfect condition.

Right on Main, with several different retailers inside the building...lots to see and do, a cafe, book store, clothing shop and the Mercantile store which I love!!! So many goodies. The book store is impressive. There is plenty of parking on Main, but but during peak hours and seasons get there early. Customer service is wonderful especially the girls at the cafe, super friendly. A must go destination, plan on spending a while browsing and shopping. Food, gifts, housewares, clothing, cards, gifts, local handcrafts & art...the photos are a collection of a complete shopping experience from the multiple shops and cafe.

Smugglers Notch is a renowned landmark nestled in the Green Mountains, offering year-round recreational activities at its ski resorts. As drivers approach the pass, warning signs prohibit certain vehicles due to length restrictions. The area boasts picturesque Vermont waterfalls like Brewster Ridge Gorge and Jeff Falls, as well as access to scenic spots such as Waterbury Reservoir and Lake Elmore.
This place has the gold standard in condos. Best place I have ever stayed. Lifts maybe old and slow but they are expertly maintained as I feel so safe on them. Skiing is way above par with the best children program in the US.

If you’re in town to see fall colors, this is the best place to go! Stunning colors and views. There are lots of trails to walk around and hikes. If you’re doing a longer hike, look into parking further down the mountain and walk up…parking is gets full higher up the drive.

Really nice drive with beautiful colors. It was very crowded and it was tough to find the spot. There is a hike yiu can do for beautiful pictures. There is no clear defined path for the hike but I went up and found a great view.

This is THE destination if you love fall foliage. The nearby gondola ride is absolutely worth the trip as well. Highly recommend! Best bet is to be there within the first 2 weeks of October for the peak.

Breathtaking! Loved driving across and also stopping at the gondola to have breakfast at the resort across. To get there you take a free gondola from the Gondola parking lot. I loved the place, beautiful in the fall

Cold Hollow Cider Mill is a charming spot in Stowe, Vermont, known for its delicious cider donuts and apple cider. Visitors can take a self-guided tour of the mill year-round to witness the traditional 1920s rack-and-cloth press squeezing juicy McIntosh apples into fresh non-alcoholic cider. The mill also offers seasonal hard ciders for tasting and an alcoholic cider tasting room.
The cider store has a huge variety of products. That was surprising! I bought coffee spread and maple jelly. Excited to try it soon. I also tried cider donut, it was decent. Ordered chicken pesto from the café, it was decent but little bit pricy though. It was fun to checkout cider process and try it out!
Shri — Google review
Cold Hollow Cider Mill is such a fun Vermont stop! The fresh cider smells amazing, and the warm donuts are a must-try—crispy, sweet, and perfect with a hot drink. You can watch cider being pressed and browse maple goodies. Cute shop, friendly staff, and great fall vibes all around!
Flora — Google review
The place is busy and obviously a tourist attraction. Please bring your patience!!! The hard cider is delicious and the maple creemee was really good but also really rich and sweet. Cider donuts are flavorful although not what I expected. Be sure to get a taste from the tasting tank in the back of the store. It is fresh and the best you will ever have!!
Candy T — Google review
Classic Vermont Tourist Stop Probably one of the most touristy spots in the area (second only to Ben & Jerry’s). When we visited this past weekend, the store was absolutely packed. It was hard to even move without bumping into someone every three seconds. Every local we spoke to warned us it was a tourist trap, but we still wanted to check out the Vermont apple cider experience. The store had plenty of maple and Vermont goods, but the best part was the tasting room in the back. It’s just a massive steel tank of apple cider, completely self-serve, and you can pour as much as you want. I had a few cups right there, and it was super crisp, fresh, and perfectly chilled straight from the tank. I wasn’t planning to buy anything, but that first sip immediately convinced me to get a couple of cider packs. At checkout, we also grabbed their “legendary” apple cider donut and the maple creemee donut sandwich. The donut, unfortunately, was really bad. Dry, oddly sweet but somehow not sweet enough. It actually tasted better frozen with the maple creemee than on its own. Honestly, I’ve had better grocery store versions, though maybe dipping it in cider helps.
Jea K — Google review
We came here in 2024 on a weekend trip to Stowe and fell in love so much that we HAD to come back in 2025. This place is super touristy but worth ALL the hype it receives. You MUST go to their cafe for breakfast. We enjoyed it so much this trip we went twice! Super cinnamon-y apple cider, sweet maple crepes, and a maple creemee are some highlights. The Morning Core on a cheddar biscuit alone is the reason to visit! The gift shop is also lovely and has an assortment of treats and Vermont merchandise- You won't go home empty handed!
Julia T — Google review
Visited the restaurant and the food and cider was very good. Enjoyed the Cider Mill Vermonter sandwich which was delicious. The hot apple cider was great as well. Stepped across to the cider and gift shop where you can sample fresh pressed cider and view displays of the cider process. Nicely done for a small space. Unfortunately, the cider donuts did not live up to claims and were a disappointment. It was small, dry, and nearly tasteless. The Apple House in Shenandoah, VA puts these cider donuts to shame.
Larry A — Google review
This is one of those places, my husband would call a “tourist trap“. Too many people with two little parking and buses and large groups wandering through especially during leaf season. However, the country store was very charming, the coffee was excellent and the maple creamee ice cream was amazing! Don’t get mad at me, but I really did not care for the cider donuts. They really were nothing to get excited about. They were just cake donuts, which I’m not a fan of, and didn’t taste very much like apple cider. To me, the taste was mehh and not worth the hype. If you love cake donuts then by all means grab one. It’s one of those places that if you’re visiting for the first time you’ll probably make yourself go to and if not during peak season it’s probably a lot more enjoyable.

Cold Hollow Cider Mill in Waterbury is such a charming and unique store! They have amazing local products, especially their maple syrup. Whether you choose an open carriage to enjoy the fresh air or opt for a covered one during rainy weather, the ride promises picturesque views and memorable moments.
Definitely a dream come true. It was snowing when we went there, the staff who accompanied us on the ride was friendly and informative. Our horse that time was Malcolm, he was huge and strong. My kids enjoyed the experience, and it was a core memory for us. Fyi: You have to call them ahead for reservations and you need to pay in cash upon arrival. I highly recommend.

We had such an amazing experience at The Gentle Giant! The people here are incredibly kind and welcoming. You can tell they truly care about both their guests and their horses. We loved our ride. They only do private rides now- $50/person for a 20/25 mins ride around the area in the woods. I would recommend reserving a spot in advance for holidays as there were many walk ins who were turned away because they were fully booked.

My family of four had this experience last week as part of my 50th birthday trip to Vermont. We were originally supposed to go on Wednesday, but with rain forecasted, we had to cancel and I was super disappointed. However, our flight ended up being early and they were able to squeeze us in the day before late in the afternoon. I'd give this place 10 stars if I could. Rachel, Mike, and the other young man ( I can't recall his name) were SO friendly...they made us very comfortable and their willingness to work with us with last minute changes was very appreciated. This ride was a highlight of the entire week and I'll keep these memories forever. Thanks again for everything, guys!!!

We were able to get a ride for just us on the same day just before the snow melted. It was about 30min, which was a perfect amount of time to take in the sights. We chatted, rode along the side of a creek, and learned about the area and what goes into managing all of the horses. Sleigh rides are a winter classic for a reason!

Nestled in the woods near Stowe Mountain Resort, the Enchanted Forest Playground offers a magical experience for kids with its ropes course and climbing wall. Nearby, the scenic Mountain Road is home to the seasonal Stowe Farmers Market, where visitors can enjoy live music while browsing stalls filled with fresh produce, baked goods, specialty foods, and handicrafts. This market provides an opportunity to support local farmers and artisans while soaking up the vibrant atmosphere.
(Although maybe not a fair review today, as storms were around before and expected later today, they still earned 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 ) The things that were there were super! Would guess many vendors couldn't make it today, which is understandable. Terrific new location in an open field, near a walking trail, plenty of parking. (Thank you to the person who worked hard mowing that huge field yesterday! We saw them in their rain jacket, working hard!) We're only here for the week or we would go back. Thanks to all the vendors who were there - especially to get more yummy things from "Two Sons". (Coconut Sweet Croissant! SOOOO flaky and lovely!)
Ang S — Google review
This farmers market felt a bit lackluster compared to others I’ve visited in Vermont—though to be fair, it may be due to the early-season timing. There was just one vegetable stand, a couple of meat and egg vendors, two spirit booths, and the rest was mostly arts and crafts. My friend and I were hoping for more produce and baked goods, which we assume will show up later in the season. The setting itself is spacious, with a large open field and live music that added a nice touch to the atmosphere. However, the entrance wasn’t clearly marked—we completely missed it on the first pass. A visible flag or sign by the road would really help, especially since turning around near the entrance isn’t easy and could be frustrating during busier times. Prices were on the high side, especially for maple syrup—definitely a sticker shock moment. If you visit, I recommend walking the full market before buying anything, as some vendors offer similar items at noticeably different prices. Overall, it has potential, and I imagine it improves as the season goes on, but it wasn’t quite what we were hoping for this time around.
Hannah — Google review
Good mix of vendors and live music. There is no respite from the sun as all of the vendors and parking is out in a field without shade, so that was the big downside. Nice view of the mountains.

Had an incredible time at the Stowe Farmers Market today! 🌽🥕🍅 There’s something special about shopping at farmers markets—fresh products, delicious food, and amazing business stories. 😍 I stumbled upon the Italian corner and was blown away by the high-quality products they had to offer. 🇮🇹🍝 From Trenchers Farmhouse and Pasta Lab, I couldn’t resist picking up some pasta, sauce for dressing, and the most heavenly tiramisu. 😋 These goodies are truly to die for, especially if you’ve experienced authentic Italian cuisine in Italy. Supporting local businesses and savoring these flavors was a treat for the senses! 💚 Whether you’re a foodie or simply appreciate top-notch ingredients, make sure to check out the Stowe Farmers Market. Great little theater. Family run. Great hospitality and service. Clean and well run. This was our first back in Stowe in a very long time. This was just one of our many memorable experiences on this trip. Will definitely be back again soon.
Enzo A — Google review
This theater sucks for the following reason. 1. 3 different films scheduled to start at the same time. This create a big line and a ridiculous wait in the parking lot to get out of the weather. 2. Seats are not comfortable. Screen is way to high for most the seats. 3. There are no cup holders at the seats. 4. The show began 15 minutes late.
Lastname F — Google review
Movies are movies and if you love them you'll go anywhere to see them. The theater is small, the screens are small, if there's an action movie playing on the screen next door you'll probably hear the rumbling in your theater. But you can drink beer, and good beer, the popcorn is delicious, the food in general is reasonably priced (except for soda) and the tickets are only $10 making it a great value movie experience. Kids are welcome and did I mention you can drink beer, wine and mixed drinks? Have fun

I expect this would easily be a 5 star review if we actually stayed there. Unlike my wife I've never watched 'The Sound of Music' and this facility is ran and managed by the family the movie is based on. Anyway we just toured up there for a day, had a late lunch, looked around the grounds (they're beautiful), and got a history presentation of the family and all they lived through. Anyway there's a lot of outdoor activities and beautiful views, at least I was told they're beautiful as the weather blocked everything. Anyway if you're into cross country skiing this would be one of the best places to stay.

The establishment boasts over twenty beers on tap, focusing on local craft brews, as well as cocktails and wine. Customers can enjoy their meals in the spacious dining area or the cozy back bar.
We had dinner here after a long day of walking. Glad that we came early at 5:30p because the dining room filled up fast. Our server Jennifer was friendly, courteous, professional and made great recommendations. I ordered the BBQ ribs which were moist and the meat fell off the bones. It was delicious. My wife ordered the duck confit. The duck was cooked to perfection in a cast iron pan. The meat was tender and juicy. We also had a fabulous side order of Caesar kale salad. It was an overall fantastic meal.
Teddy C — Google review
American comfort food. We like the meatloaf, ½ rack of ribs, ½ duck and duck fat fries. The meatloaf is tasty, not dry and a huge slice served on large portion of mashed potatoes with gravy and grilled vegetables on the side – it does not need the French fried onions so just push those to the side. The ½ duck is slightly better than the ½ rack of ribs. The ribs fall off the bone but the sauce is pretty standard. Skip the lobster ravioli. The food is good but it’s nothing spectacular.

This place was easy walking distance from our stay. We waited just over an hour after 730 for a table. I would recommend reservations especially during peak seasons. It was worth the wait! The potine was savory and comforting on a cold day. Mom and I shared the salmon with roasted vegetables which was also delicious!! Mom had a local lager, while I oped for the upside-down lemon drop, which thankfully was not served upside-down!! Erin was our server and was a delight!!! Highly recommend!

Another winner! I was starving but my bench burger was just fantastic! Cooked perfectly medium. Ordered the duck fat fries but in a blind table taste test nobody could tell the difference. The salmon burgers were devoured too! The only loser of the night was the nachos. They were tasty but nachos should be smothered in toppings these were like diet nachos. Drinks were good too. Service was great! Fast friendly and kept water glasses full, a great sign of attention to detail. Over a strong A Ps. The host was nice but could used a little more happy energy

Awesome service and atmosphere. Came here on a Thursday night around 5pm for two as we just beat the rush to the door, however the only option for seating without a wait was by the bar. No complaints with that if you don’t mind watching them cook using the giant brick oven they use for pizzas and other dishes. I got the Bench Burger and take home sausage with cheese pizza. The staff was a nice lady who was amazing at checking in on us. The Bench Burger was okay, it seemed pretty dry and lacked flavor and condiments. The pizza was mid. I feel as though they need more sauce as I expected more from a brick oven pizza

Brewery
Restaurant
Von Trapp Brewery & Bierhall is an Austrian-inspired beer hall located at the Trapp Family Lodge in Vermont. It was founded by the youngest von Trapp son, drawing inspiration from Austria to bring a taste of Austrian lager beers to Vermont's craft beer scene. The brewery offers signature lagers and classic plates in a modern rustic setting. Visitors can enjoy the outdoor beer garden with views of the picturesque grounds reminiscent of the von Trapps' mountainous homeland.
7/16/25—After our 15-minute stop at the Von Trapp Lodge, everyone was hungry, so we headed to a nearby brewery. We timed it perfectly—just 15 minutes after we arrived, buses started pulling in, and people began flooding the place. We sat outside, and while it was a bit hot, they made sure to keep us well-hydrated, and even brought water for Rambo, my dog. Our waiter, Seth, was quick to greet us and take our order. I have to say, everything we had was excellent. I ordered the hamburger, and it was delicious, the fries were superb, and the mini salads were so fresh and healthy. The inside of the place was lovely too—it felt like we were having lunch in Austria for a brief moment. A great experience all around
Marilyn M — Google review
Stopped in to enjoy some tasty Austrian brews and fresh snacks on the beautiful and legendary grounds. We weren’t very hungry and couldn’t stay long, so we ordered a crisp lager, a shaved radish salad, and von Trapp pretzels with house mustards and beer cheese. The beer was cold and refreshing, the pretzels soft and salty, and the beer cheese absolutely knocked it out of the park. But the real star of the show was the shredded radish salad. Much to our surprise, this dish was a visual and culinary delight, a creative display of daikon, watermelon, and red radishes, lightly dressed with lemon oil and salt flakes. It was incredibly fresh and flavorful, and my daughters and I loved it! The ambiance of the bierhall is fantastic featuring large windows, tasteful taxidermy, and timber architecture all set against a scenic backdrop. If you’re in the area, definitely stop in and check it out!

I’ve known nothing about this gem until I went inside and realized this is the family behind the movie? “Sound of music.” I kind of was in shock, but in a good way, I kept reading more of the book they had on display in the gift shop, very interesting book indeed. We didn’t stay for food, as we just came to try out the beers on tap. They don’t offer flights so we ordered a variety to be able to try some. The brewery is quite large and lively. They do allow pets outside with their picnic tables. Although the ground is mainly gravel, so not perfect for pets paws, but their tables make for a good environment. It took a while to get our beers, but they were tasty and worth the wait. It was such a unique experience and we hope to return again in the future, next time to enjoy their food.

My boyfriend and I came down from Smugglers’ Notch Resort to check out the disc golf course at the Trapp Family Lodge — I grew up watching The Sound of Music and absolutely insisted we stop here! I joked that it felt like we were disc golfing in Austria, since that’s why the family moved to this area (at least according to the movie!). We arrived without reservations, but the man up front was so kind and helpful — he managed to get us two seats at the bar, even though they weren’t originally right next to each other. The only little disappointment was that they don’t offer beer flights, though I’m sure there’s a reason for it! That said, they do have nice sampler sizes, so we each got two and shared. We ordered the pretzel and the Austrian potato salad (which is now my new favorite potato salad ever!). The pretzel was amazing, and all the dipping sauces at the bar were incredible — highly recommend trying them all. Our server, Justin, was super friendly and even humored me when I asked about the von Trapp family descendants and whether they ever come in! Forest was also incredibly sweet and helpful. Such great staff all around. I absolutely loved this place — it felt like a little childhood dream come true being there!

Very nice set up here and really enjoyed my first visit. As the designated driver, I did not partake of the spirits, but my partners in crime assured me it was quite good. One chose a flight of four samples and the other chose the IPA. There is a great deal of history associated with the property.

My wife and I and another couple stopped here for a beer, the place is really nice and it has nice views, but there was only one guy pouring beer for a giant bar and it must’ve taken 20 minutes to get a beer and another 20 minutes, waiting for a simple pretzel. It’s a nice place but the service was really poor on that day. To be fair, there was a pretty good size bus parked outside, but it didn’t look that busy inside just somehow disorganized. It’s a pass for me.

Great place to relax a little, grab some good food, and enjoy a beer or two, but get here early because it gets crowded fast. Cheese board is tasty, with crackers, jam, olives, and meats. Cheese soup was decent and the spatzle is amazing.

Very conveniently located on. The resort grounds. Just enough separated for a change of scenery. Dinner then lunch on 2 separate occasions. First time: service and food was good. Second time: service was great and burger was good. Salad selected was visually appealing but flavor was not to my taste. Expected an Asian dressing but it was close to a dill flavor. To each his own but could not give Bierhall the max amount of stars.

Nature & Parks
Nestled just a short drive away from Stowe, Moss Glen Falls is a captivating natural wonder that enchants visitors with its serene ambiance and stunning beauty. The Moss Glen Falls Trail offers a picturesque hike through verdant woodlands and meandering streams, culminating in the awe-inspiring sight of the waterfall. Witness the water gracefully cascading over rugged cliffs into a pristine pool below, showcasing nature's raw power and elegance.
A rainy April day made for a wet and muddy hike, but it was absolutely worth it. We had the entire trail to ourselves, which gave us a rare chance to truly connect with nature in its most raw and beautiful form. The only sounds were the songs of birds and the rustle of the forest—pure serenity. At times, it felt like we were the only people left on earth. Though the path was muddy in spots, the boardwalk helped in the wetter areas. An unforgettable experience and a must-see!
Caryn S — Google review
Moss Glen Falls has some scenic views and trails. However, in order to access the waterfalls, it requires ascending/descending rocks and tree root-covered dirt paths that are narrow in some places. Some of the footing to the waterfalls is not even and to ascend requires lifting your legs and knees higher to different footing and levels to get to the next step. There is not many sitting positions to get a clear view of the waterfalls if you are late to arrival and other photographers have positioned themselves in front of the coveted view. I would not want to be at the top of the trail if there were a lot of people traversing to the waterfalls as it can be a tight walk up or down in some areas. What I’m trying to say is walking up to the waterfalls is not for the faint of heart or for people who have limitations or disabilities. I would not traverse the trail if it has rained or is wet or muddy. Some of the trail on the way to the waterfalls has grooved wood planks to step on to help avoid the marshy area or water that may have come over made its way over the trail. The trail can be quite muggy and hot during the summer. There are a limited number of parking spaces at the opening to the waterfalls.

Very easy hike if you can do some stairs. Approximately 10 minutes. You can also climb to be under the falls

Moss Glen Falls is such a stunning hidden gem! The short hike is easy and scenic, leading to a powerful waterfall surrounded by mossy rocks and tall trees. You can feel the mist from the falls up close. Peaceful, refreshing, and totally worth a quick stop while exploring Stowe.

Stunning waterfall! The lady behind us gasped when she saw it. Super easy, flat walk that has wooden boards down to keep your feet from getting muddy. There are a few places without boards and small muddy areas you can try to step around. At the end of the wooden area, there are stone block stairs. Not gonna lie, I'm a fluffy girl that doesn't excerise. I wore heavy hiking boots and I was breathing hard by the time I hit the top. Hiking boots were not necessary my normal tennis shoes would have been fine. On the way out, We passed a lady wearing suede heels who asked if her shoes would be okay. Those would not work, especially up top, it's all roots and very uneven to walk. The top area is also very small and yoh have to work your way the other people that are trying to get that perfect shot lined up. I believe I read the sign that said a 1/4 mile walk one way so 1/2 mile round trip.
Kerri L — Google review
This was a nice stop along our drive in Vermont during the foliage. Parking along the street was easy enough. Could pack a picnic and sit by the water or walk up the steps in the forest to reach the top. Less than 10 minutes walk to the top.

In addition to offering tune-ups for bikes, Ranch Camp also provides a selection of burritos with creative fillings like eggs, bacon, tofu, lentils, and more.
Wonderful meal! Love this full service option. Last time we were there it was order at the bar after Covid. This was a great experience! Quickly seated, friendly and helpful staff, awesome food. Fabulous buffalo chicken sandwich-very tasty. My Stowe Local salad with grilled chicken was spectacular. Pomegranate seeds avocado lots of other seeds and loads of spinach. The maple vinaigrette was delicious. I could have this every day! Loved the mountain biking vibe and shop too.

Pleasantly surprised! Stowe can be hit or miss but Ranch Camp was great. Service was friendly and food was great. NACHOS!!! best around by far, pulled pork and huge. We tried a bunch of other dishes but the nachos were the difference maker enjoy!
J R — Google review
Ranch Camp is part bike store, part restaurant/bar. I want to spend more time at both. To sound like a nerd, the thing that grabbed the most of my attention was the stylish nature of some of the bike helmets. I noticed this before I took a gander at the menu. The menu, the menu! Two different selections of fries made it a hard choice to pick only one carb, but the Friendly Fries were a definite win. The two different dipping sauces that came with the Friendly Fries were great. The sweet potato fries were fried and salted to taste, and provided an excellent platform to deliver the flavor sauces that came with it. The portion size of the food is something to write about and notice. The Cobb Salad was healthy, designed for afternooners who are coming back from a hike or a bike ride. The pulled chicken, along with the bacon, gave it good texture along with the rest of the salad. Gluten-free options were available, and their drink selection provided a few options for the person who is gluten-conscious. I'd say that it's hard for a business to run two separate functions, but somehow, Ranch Camp does it. One last thing before you finish reading, if you plan on staying in the Stowe area for longer than 3 days, you may want to come back here to try some of the other menu items. It all looked so good...

Where Vegans, Vegetarians and carnivors can all co-exist! The options are endless. Great food for a great prices. A beautiful 15 minute walk from downtown Woodstock and every bit worth the trip! We were starving, and ordered the regular nachos (no meat cuz were vegetarians), and just look at how much food you get! We were stuffed And rest assured there were so many vegan options on the menu! It was so good were coming back for dinner! Eat here....you will not regret it!

I rented a full suspension bike to ride in Cady Hill. The singletracks starts right out of the parking lot. Good and kind service. Good selection of bikes. Enjoyed the ride immensely. Didn't try the food.

Ranch Camp is where birds of a feather flock together after riding their bike. From the the outside we could see tons of cars, trucks, and buses driving past, but we were halfway to the moon after enjoying the nachos. Just like my Mexican cousin makes. If I could, I would order them again. The falafel? Simple, but complex and the sauce hit every flavor like a symphony...something I'd been waiting all night for. We loved the local beers to wash it all down. Our host and server were great. They didn't talk very much, but were very profound. Being open at 3 on a Monday in the fall was great. I was ready for party time. When the sun slipped behind Mount Mansfield, we were fully surrendered to the flow of the leaf peepers. For good food, good people, and that golden Vermont glow, Ranch Camp if you dare.

We went for dinner and had no reservation, but were immediately seated. There were lots of options, all of which sounded great. The crunch wrap was huge and tasted amazing, the burger was cooked perfectly and super juicy. The cheesecake we had as a dessert was also delicious. Nestled in the mountains above Stowe, Vermont, The Swimming Hole is a top-notch resort offering an array of leisure activities and three dining options. The lodge provides various activities for all ages, including yoga classes, rock climbing, and dance lessons. Guests can also explore the surrounding hiking trails or unwind in one of the three on-site swimming pools. Additionally, visitors can relax in the cozy living room area or partake in games at the lodge's game room.
The atmosphere is quiet and friendly, often with a welcoming display at the front door. I can always find machines that are available, clean, and in excellent condition. Floor to ceiling windows add to a positive experience! There is a wide range of workout choices including weights and two areas for stretching. The pool is great- clean and not too warm or too cold.
Denise J — Google review
Very expensive considering none of the splash/sprinkler features work. (The slide was functional). Had to pay for myself and my infant when we were only spectating. Came because I needed an activity for my 5 yr old. $45 total. I had seen pictures of the kids’ pool area, but didn’t realize the sprinkler features would be broken. Doubt I would come again. If you are a member or a lap swimmer, then it seems it would be a decent spot.

Great place to stop for the day to swim with kiddos- only thing we’d love to see is a different fee for the adults who are supervising kids. 25$ for me to just supervise my kiddos in the pool doesn’t make sense. We’d be here much more often if it weren’t so expensive.

Nice atmosphere and a large gym with lots of equipment. The weight room is quite large but the cardio equipment is outdated but still functional. The pool is nice but at busier times of day, it can be crowded. There are eight lanes in the pool and there is a water slide that is often closed.

Stowe Golf Park is a unique miniature golf course that replicates the features of a full-sized golf course. The park provides an authentic golfing experience with its well-maintained grounds and picturesque views of the surrounding mountains.
Really fun golf miniature golf course! They have sand traps and everything. If you rely on bouncing your golf ball off the walls to get down to the hole, this is not the course for you! There is some skill involved with this course, we loved it ❤️

We played all 18 holes here and had a great time. The course isn’t heavily themed or over-the-top, but the hole designs are solid and well thought out. It’s definitely not an “easy win” course — no hole-in-ones for us this trip. Overall, a really enjoyable mini golf experience in Stowe.

It is a good 18 hole mini golf course. The prices are good and the holes are reasonably challenging. The course does not include hidden tunnels, windmills or other moving obstacles. The challenges rely solely on slopes, sand traps, and rocks. You can play the course in 50-80 minutes.

Sterling Pond is one of the many hiking trails in Stowe, offering a range of difficulty levels suitable for various hikers. The trail to the pond can be more challenging in winter due to longer distances and difficult navigation when Notch Road is closed. It's advised to wear proper hiking shoes and carry refreshments for the 1.1-mile hike with a 1000-foot elevation gain.
It’s an uphill battle to get to this pond. But totally worth it and a great workout. Just be prepared for wet and slippery rocks, incline of 1000 ft within a mile. Best time to go is in the fall when all the leaves are changing. Your destination is Sterling Pond, which has a peaceful, serene setting.
Rhodes F — Google review
Written in September. One of the trails in the Smugglers' Notch area. Parking is a bit tight, but we managed to find a spot. We hiked with kids starting from age 5. The climb is steep. It takes about an hour and a half to reach the summit. The path doesn't offer much scenery along the way. It's recommended to bring waterproof shoes because you'll be walking through water in some areas. The summit is very beautiful. After the pond, it's worth continuing a bit further up to reach the mountain peak (the end of the ski lift area), where you'll find a beautiful view of the mountains below with the trees in fall foliage (see attached map). The descent is faster, taking about 50 minutes.
Yo S — Google review
It is a moderate hike up from the Notch Road even my 3 years old boy hiked up and down without any complaints. The pond at an elevation of 3080 ft is another beauty that everyone enjoys on the top. Swimming is another activity one can add to the list while hiking here. Enjoy….
Lal P — Google review
Wear appropriate hiking shoes, bring something to drink and eat or snack on when you get to the pond. Definitely a difficult hike but its all worth it! Its 1.1 mile with 1000’ gain in elevation. Just take your time and watch your steps both going up and down! The view of pond is amazing and you can go for a swim if you wanted to.
Zach B — Google review

Great hike near Stowe. It was muddy, snowy and cold when I went but I honestly wouldn't change a thing. It was beautiful and there were not many people hiking, probably because of the weather. Nestled in the heart of Stowe, Idletyme Brewing Company is a must-visit for anyone looking to indulge in a delightful blend of craft brews and American comfort food. This beer-centric bistro boasts a warm atmosphere where you can savor European-style beers brewed on-site in stunning copper tanks. The menu features mouthwatering dishes like ale-battered fish and chips, oversized Bavarian pretzels served with hot beer cheese, and creamy mac and cheese made with Vermont cheddar.
We stopped there for a quick drink and ended up getting some food as well. You ABSOLUTELY have to get those crunchy cheese balls, they were delicious. The beer flight was excellent, and the burger and Reuben were great! We sat on the bar and had a blast of a service. 🍻
Liran T — Google review
The food was fairly good but not reaching 5 stars in my opinion. The beer flight featured some classic/basic styles of beer - all of them were fresh although tasted fairly plain to me but fine to go with a meal and interesting to try anyway. The Vermont Cheddar Fritters were really good and I enjoyed them together with the sauce. The wings with shriracha-buffalo sauce and blue cheese dressing did not match my taste unfortunately. The lady at the bar/tap was really welcoming. Overall no regrets and the place is good but next time I’d look for something else.

Excellent relaxing patio dinner. The cheddar fritters were crunchy and gooey and the chipotle aioli was the perfect sauce on top! Chili was great and went next level when I added it to my Vermont mac n cheese! Husband had the burger and raved about the onion bacon jam. Patio area was beautiful on a crisp fall nice and we enjoyed an after dinner warm mulled cider by the fire pits! Great spot.

Our favorite meal that we had not just in Stowe, but in Vermont! We had the Vermont Cheddar Fritters which were insane, and the jalapeño aioli was delicious. The Potato Leak Soup was incredible, which was the soup special of the night. So much flavor. And, finally, the best Fish and Chips we’ve ever had. The service was also 10/10.
Amanda G — Google review
The Burger was Very Good, The Reuben was too dry, needed more kraut and thousand island dressing on it. The Meat didn't seem the freshest but it was still good. Sandwiches are $18-20 each. Fries were good. Beer was Excellent! Service was a little slow but acceptable. We sat inside and the air temp was warmer than I expected but still cooler than the outside temp. Would have been 5 stars if the Reuben wasn't dry/lean on the Kraut and the service was a little quicker. I'm sure the staff was busy. I would go back.

This was probably the best dinner spot we went to in Stowe, VT for fish n chips. We went around 5pm on a Saturday expecting a long wait for two but got lucky with a spot inside. Very friendly and attentive staff. Got the wings appetizer which was full of flavor reminding me of a curry dry rub served with buttermilk ranch. Wings were not too greasy and came with about 6-8 wings. The Fish n Chips take the cake as they give you two large portions of fish with fries. You can tell they clean their fryer often, if not everyday as the batter has the best crunch and taste I’ve ever had. Plenty of meat as they do a great job of not putting too much batter on the fish. Coleslaw was lack luster if you’re used to sweet coleslaw, you’ll be disappointed as it lacks flavor. I would highly recommend if you’re wanting high quality fish.
Avery W — Google review
Nice spot for a good meal. Beware of the bees if you sit outside. Patio is dog friendly. Food portions are LARGE. Cheese fritters were delicious and unusual.
Candy T — Google review
This place hits all the right spots. Stopped in for lunch. Service was outstanding. The food was excellent. Cool, inside seating or outdoor patio available. We had the Ruben Sandwich, the Veggie Burger, a side of Mac and cheese (kid's portion!) and some of the bacon-cider braised kale and beans. There were some hidden gems that added a twist to what would normally be standard fair. The Ruben has a pepper relish that added some crunch and a little heat. The meat to cheese to slaw ratio was perfectly balanced. There was some acid from the relish that elevated the sandwich. This is an amazing dish. The veggie burger has some great crunch added with the onion to balance the soft patty. Great bun that was soft and helped to absorb the flavors. The braised kale with the beans also have a little heat. A little sweetness. The kale was cooked perfectly not crunchy and not mushy. The broth has an exceptional lingering smokey flavor. Fries were crispy and rustic. Mac and cheese noodles were al dente with a rich, creamy sauce. Simple dishes done very well. 100% would go back.

This was the third place we went to after the first two having too long of waits. We were told a 15-20 minute wait. 40 minutes later, we were finally seated. I can definitely look past it, it was a busy Friday night. What I can't look past is how rude our waiter was. She was very short and blunt and had overall awful customer service. She unfortunately got her karma when another neglectful waiter spilled her drinks on the floor and left it there, leaving our waiter to slip in it and drop a whole table worth of food. Aside from that, this place does not offer hibachi at the regular tables! You can only order hibachi at the grills, which is so unusual. This is the only reason I came. The food, so bland! Sushi roll tasted like nothing, fried rice was subpar.

Perfect place for coffee and breakfast items. We stayed in Stowe for a few days and quickly discovered this was going to be part of our morning routine. Everyone there is welcoming and friendly. They take your order and also the time to chat with you. Cozy interior. Coffee was great, with quick service. Although the breakfast sandwiches are pre-made, they are also fresh and delicious. With new batches constantly added. Crumbly biscuit, fresh egg, the right amount of cheese. The sausage and bacon options are also a nice addition. Had a popover and some muffins during our stay. Everything was fresh from the oven and tastes like it's made with great care. 100% would (and did) go back.

Stowe Bee was very delicious. We got bacon egg and cheese biscuit, speciality panini with ham and cheese, a cortado, lemon desert, and a chai latte. Everything was excellent. They had samples of the lemon square out and that convinced us we needed to get a full one. We will be back.

My husband and I shared a breakfast sandwich in a biscuit and a raspberry danish. They were both so incredibly flavorful and balanced. I regret not taking photos of either, but they looked so good I forgot to! This place is fairly priced, everything is made here at the bakery. It’s a lovely atmosphere. The person who checked us out was so kind and added so much personality and comfort to this place simply by saying, “yes you should join us!” When I asked if we could sit in the dining area when she asked if I wanted to go or dine in. Bathrooms are clean and comforting. All around a great place! :) they weren’t even offended that we walked in with outside drinks. (Which I was nervous to do.)

Given that it’s Sunday, my wife and I both chose the Lord, which was perfect. Each component was worth it and as a complete bite, it all worked well together. We also split a Dirty Chai Latte, which was terrific. Last thing, while we were in line, the kitchen set out samples of warm raspberry danish. They were sinfully amazing.

As we were travelling to Stowe village , we stop over for a short tea break and we were worried that they are not serving as it is approaching the 2 pm closing but they willingly continue to serve us. The place is cosy, very nice decoration. We met a couple from Florida and had a great time chit chatting. Advise them to get their lodging place early as it gets dark around 4 pm. The food we ordered is great, the staffs was friendly and at first she brought 1 plate but saw 2 of us, got us another plate. The coffee is hot especially in this cold weather. Love to drop by again .

Loved everything we had here including the caramel apple cheese danish, amish baked oats, gluten free crustless quiche, and maple lattes. Service is quick in spite of lines that can wrap Around the restaurant. Quality of food was fantastic. We ordered the Amish oats for our 1 year old but couldn’t keep ourselves from stealing bites — they are literally the best oats we have EVER had. So much so I’m trying to recreate them as I type this the first morning home! We preferred this ambiance, service, and speed over Black Cap and came back several times.

We stayed at the Grey Fox Inn next door and walked here for breakfast both days of our stay. It is about a 2 minute walk. The place is very qarm and inviting. The staff is super friendly and very helpful with picking food options. We had breakfast sandwiches, scones, cookies, oatmeal, breakfast croissant, coffee. Everything was excellent and tastes homemade. The dining room is very cozy. They have playing cards and games for kids, as well.

Restaurant
Plate is a popular restaurant in Stowe, offering California-inspired dishes and craft cocktails in a rustic yet chic setting. The menu features locally sourced ingredients, including seared beef tenderloin, apple cider-brined roast chicken, gnocchi, and salads with hazelnuts and cranberries. The restaurant strikes a balance between comfort food like burgers and matzoh ball soup and more adventurous options such as artichoke mousses and juniper-brined pork with mustard spaetzel.
Stopped into Plate and grabbed a seat at the bar—really glad I did. The service was friendly and attentive without being overbearing. The location is perfect, right in the heart of Stowe, making it a great place to relax after walking around town. Cozy atmosphere, and the vibe at the bar made it easy to settle in and enjoy. Definitely worth a visit!

Tough review. If this was based on food alone, I would have to say this place is simply brilliant, serving some of the best dishes I've had in recent memory. A 5 Star meal worth every penny. And, we were told when we were seated that they were having some issues with the Internet, having to close out checks using a hot spot. Not a big deal from our perspective. This may have caused a hiccup in their quality service that they were just not able to get passed. We were seated at our reservation time and 10 minutes in were asked for our drink order. We informed our server that we could also order our food. We ordered a bottle of wine, two appetizers, a salad and two main dishes. Then we didn't see our server again until the 35 minutes mark when we asked someone to find her. We cancelled our bottle of wine ($145) and requested two ciders ($16), hoping they could be a faster option. They arrived within 5 minutes. The atmosphere was one of chaos. It seemed the kitchen was calm and collected, not aware that the rest of the staff seemed to rush by tables without a glance. They seemed to be running to catch up to something. And our server was decidedly absent for the remainder of our meal. Then the food arrives. Pure brilliance. Flavors balanced. Textures and execution are masterful. The garlic and Parmesan souffle with basil cream is a flawless version of the classic dish. Amazingly tender and fluffy with hints of salt from the cheese. The blistered shishito peppers were expertly prepared with a mint creme fraiche. Such a simple dish elevated to the next level. The Jamie's on Grain salad was sheer genius. The cranberry add a little sweetness while the maple vinaigrette adds a beautiful element of acid. Crunch of the pumpkin seeds and the tender pieces of sweet potatoes create a texture balance that was appreciated. The veggie burger was delicious! Delectable. Grilled pork tenderloin was surprisingly savory considering the sweet potato, brown butter and grilled peaches. Pork was tender and juicy. The peaches were a star here, adding a little sweet/tart element to balance everything out. Our server swung by as we were finished and asked how everything tasted... While our empty plates sat on the table for several more minutes, we flagged down a woman that took our plates, wipes our table and offered us dessert menus. She didn't appear to be a server and was the only calming element in front of house. We ordered the peanut butter cup. And this is the right decision! Might be the best I've had. We had a couple of glasses of port and then checked out. The bill process being super quick and simple. Could have just been an off night for service. I will say that the couple of times we talked with her, she was super delightful. Just lacking the same quality of service as we had with the food. Hit-and-miss. Food might get me back, but everything else makes this a one-and-done.

Super fun establishment on Maine street. Great atmosphere and decor. Food was really well prepared. Very busy place, rightfully so, get a reservation for the. Great cocktails and awesome beer selections. The banana pudding was killer good!

A New York priced place in Stowe. It was beautiful and artisanal but even in New York I wouldn’t pay $25 for a burger unless it’s from a steak house. Even Michelin starred ramen restaurants I didnt pay $35 for pork ramen. The pork was tough but the noodles were chewy and didn’t taste like they came from a ramen packet thank god. But that was the direction they were going in with this. The cocktails were so small and we were drinking them down so quickly that we had two $25 drinks before our meals even came. Nice for a date or a romantic dinner but don’t go hungry or if you’re looking to get a bunch of cocktails
Katie C — Google review
Plate had a mix of delicious and creative cocktails along with scrumptious food options. We shared the corn fritters, salad mix, Jamie’s on grain, bar steak, and halibut! The halibut, Jamie’s on grain, and corn fritters were stand outs for me! They all were an exquisite mix of flavor but nothing too overwhelming. The fritters are such a simple shareable but oh so tasty with the hot honey glazing them to add sweetness! Sit at the bar, the bartenders are superb and the cocktails top notch! We tried their seasonal options and all of them hit the mark!

Doubt we will return. What? What did you say? I said we won’t go back because we couldn’t hear each other over the noise and a couple of very loud patrons. Despite the mixed reviews, we decided to try Plate. Given the need for reservations and prices, we were expecting elevated dining. The restaurant is small with maybe a dozen tables and about equal amount of bar space. Everyone was dressed very casually favoring plaid shirts and blue jeans. The menu is limited. The fried oysters tasted like a hush puppies and none of us could see or taste an oyster. The sushi tuna salad – who cut this tuna? I’m quite sure a 5 year old with a dull knife could do a better job (see photo). The pasta tasted homemade and was served topped with large shaved pieces of parmesan – artsy but I would have preferred parmesan be freshly grated at the table. I enjoyed the pasta but my friend did not like it at all. The strip steak was tasty and cooked perfectly – as far as steaks go, it was good but definitely not one of those truly great steaks. The arepas just sat there on the plate looking completely out of place – it seemed like they were added to be able to claim it was fusion. We were really looking forward to the pan fried potatoes but they were mushy – nothing crispy about them. With only 4 stalks, grilled broccolini was a battle to grab and I lost but I was told they were amazing. We were very pleased that we were able to get ample water and drinks. Overall the service was good and attentive but not very friendly. But none of that matters if it’s so noisy that you can’t hear each other!

Okay, first off I’d recommend making a reservation well in advance of your trip. We lucked out and were able to be seated at the bar when they opened at 5:30pm but I’m telling you that you might not eat here if you don’t make a reservation. The drinks were superb and made by a wonderful mixologist named Mike who calls himself a bartender bc he’s so unpretentious. These cocktails are thoughtful and made with precision. We shared a bunch of starters and salads which were all phenomenal. Then we shared two entrees: the halibut and the bar steak. Both excellent. Service from Mike and his colleague (unsure of her name) were top notch. So glad we were able to have a meal and drinks here while in Stowe- chefs kiss*

Café on Main in Stowe is a popular spot known for its casual and comfortable atmosphere, serving up delicious breakfast options like Belgian waffles, homemade oatmeal, bagels, egg sandwiches, and delectable baked goods such as cinnamon streusel muffins. Whether you're looking for a quick breakfast to go or a leisurely sit-down meal indoors or outdoors, this café has you covered. They also offer lunch options including sandwiches and soups for those on the go.
Nice shaded patio right outside if you’re with a dog. Creative lattes. We’ve been here both times as visitors in town. I’m soft spoken sometimes and the cashier missed one of my orders but they were super nice and didn’t charge me for it when I went back to order (plz don’t assume this will be your outcome lol). Super appreciated and really enjoyed both the iced lattes!

Really cozy little tourist aimed cafe in a larger gift shop style building. Very limited seating and narrow walking path, but very fair prices and decent food. The Turkey Rachel along with their Hot Chocolate were very good. Not watery like you'd expect. Quite good quiche as well. I'd recommend as an after church meeting place or if you're staying at an inn in town within walking distance.

Stopped here for coffee and pastries for breakfast - I ordered a hot Maple Vanilla Latte - SO GOOD! One of the best lattes I’ve ever had and I’m not even a huge maple fan. I got the gluten free pumpkin bread (moist and delish) and the other members of my party ordered the cinnamon crunch muffin and the egg and bacon croissant. Everything we had was great. The shop is super tiny and gets really crowded fast so the seating is cramped, but they get your order to you really quickly so it’s an easy in and out. Other coffee shops in town maybe more “TikTok Famous” but we totally recommend this place as the best in Stowe!

I’m so happy that we tried Cafe on Main Street. it was absolutely delicious and the staff was amazing. These Belgian Waffles were so crunchy and sugary. They were very much like the ones I had in Belgium. Yummy bacon too! Loved it all! My cousins loved their breakfast sandwiches. The egg was super fluffy and the bacon was really crispy. The staff was so sweet and very attentive to everyone’s needs. Definitely go try them out, you won’t be disappointed.

We had a nice fairly priced breakfast here. It was fresh and delicious. The pancakes stood out and I’d recommend them. The staff was very nice, but this one gentleman that appeared to have some sort of authority was complaining openly and talking down to some of the employees, which they seemed perturbed about after. He seemed grumpy, but do that stuff away from customers. It’s not a good look. The food though, very good.

Stopped here for lunch on a random Tuesday. I agree with the other reviewer in that I wish I hadn’t tipped anything. The audacity asking for a tip when the people behind the counter do absolutely nothing. I had to get up to get my food, take my dishes to the dirty station, get my own water… etc. I ordered the roadhouse salad. It was mediocre at best. The chicken was essentially flavorless, and for $19, it would be nice to add some croutons/crackers or something to go with it. There’s very limited seating, just FYI. I wouldn’t stop here again. And $2.25 for an off brand of bottled water should be criminal. Stowe is an amazing little town, but I’d pass up this cafe.

Amazing breakfast sandwiches with Vermont cheddar and homemade English muffins that are so puffy they reminded me of a biscuit ! Super fast service and outdoor bistro tables so we could enjoy our breakfast al fresco in the beautiful Sept sun

Made my own smoothie at this cafe, a much-needed break from nonstop maple syrup, cheese, biscuits, maple creemees, and pancakes on our trip. I would get one of these every day if I could (and they weren’t $13!) Such a good dose of health. Make a green apple, spinach, avocado, blueberry smoothie with apple juice and you’ll love it, too. 5 stars!!!!

Gluten free eggs benedict was a pleasant surprise but somehow only got 1 poached egg instead of 2, and probably paid more for it (GF bread not marked on the menu). UPDATE: When alerted to the issue, they were very responsive and refunded me for the missing egg. Recommend checking them out!

We catered two separate meals for 37 people and we could not be happier! Athena was very helpful in creating a menu for our group, making sure to accommodate a few dietary restrictions! We did the taco bar for dinner one night, and a few sandwich platters for lunch the next day. Our group had only positive things to say about both options.

Mysterious Sites
Gold Brook Covered Bridge, also known as "Emily's Bridge," is a historic 1844 covered bridge with walnut-stained gable ends located in Newry. The bridge is linked to local folklore, with a haunting legend surrounding the tragic story of Emily, who supposedly hanged herself from the rafters after being stood up by her lover. Visitors are drawn to the eerie tales of ghostly sightings and strange noises emanating from within the 50-foot span.
People love covered bridges! Lol sadly hard to get a great photo with how everyone is parked! Be sure to look into the a “spooky” story behind it!

Beautiful bridge! The small waterfalls underneath are so relaxing. We had a big truck so we had to find another way to get around the bridge so we can park. Worth the stop!
Lucia V — Google review
While in Vermont, I just HAD to see a covered bridge! I'm not one tiny bit romantic, but I am intrigued by local history. This bridge is reportedly haunted. You can read all about Emily before you (dare to) make a walk through. Very cool!

EMILY’S BRIDGE! After reading the folklore, I refused to drive or walk through the bridge out of caution/respect. Allegedly, some visitors have experienced feeling random bursts of cold air, being scratched, and hearing a woman’s scream. One member of my party laughed and said they don’t believe in spirits. However, that’s the very person who was freaked out when we saw a raven circling the bridge. Neat stop! Whether fact or legend, I appreciate the story and the curiosity.
Joelle — Google review
The Historic Gold Brook Covered Bridge, also known as “Emily’s Bridge,” is one of Vermont’s most charming and mysterious landmarks. Nestled in a peaceful, tree-lined setting near Stowe, this beautiful wooden bridge feels like a step back in time. The craftsmanship is stunning — the old timbers, rustic trusses, and weathered boards tell stories of generations past. During the day, sunlight filters softly through the gaps, creating a warm, nostalgic glow perfect for photography or a quiet walk. The surrounding nature adds to its serene beauty, especially in autumn when colorful leaves blanket the road and trees reflect their golden hues. It’s a lovely place for travelers, couples, and history enthusiasts to pause and take in the tranquil scenery. However, what truly sets Gold Brook Bridge apart is its legend. Locals call it “Emily’s Bridge,” named after a ghostly tale that adds a touch of mystery to its charm. Whether you believe in the story or not, it gives the site a unique, haunting appeal. Overall, this bridge is a wonderful mix of natural beauty, local history, and folklore. A must-visit stop for anyone exploring Vermont’s countryside and a perfect spot to capture peaceful, timeless moments. 🌉🍂

Edelweiss Mountain Deli is a Vermont gem that takes pride in its local connections, working directly with Vermont farmers and small-scale craft food and beverage makers. As Gold Barn members of the Vermont Fresh Network, they are committed to using a diverse range of Vermont ingredients to create an unforgettable experience. Located near Chase Park, this deli offers hearty sandwiches, award-winning chili, salads, breakfast options, VT craft beer, global wine selections, and specialty retail foods.
Easily walkable location from our lodging. Not far from Chase Park, in case you want to picnic. From the moment you walk in to Edelweiss, you can tell this place knows its stuff. There were three customers there they called by name and one got big hugs. They greeted us with a smile as they served other customers. All while being quite busy. So nice! At the sandwich counter, the folks working there were fun, cheerful and patient as we tried to choose from all the yummy offerings. And those sandwiches!!! Fabulous ingredients, local & fresh. We highly recommend and will be back. Oh, and the entrance is gorgeous!!

Twenty minutes after departure & consumption I was still obsessed. Stopped by when the wind blew me in & I couldn't be more thankful. Had a Curried Samosa & Raspberry Tart. The pastry was literally one of the best I've ever had. It legitimately was so impressive my mind was still processing it up until an hour after. I didn't cry, but it did trigger a mildly warm emotional reaction. Could legitimately be entered into a desert or baking competition. Next time I want to try the Linzer Torte. Highly recommend!

A great deli in the heart of the mountains in Stowe. Grab some sandwiches and take a hike. They have excellent Reuben’s, Italian sandwiches, and breakfast sandwiches. We loved everything we had and bought some desserts to take away and some mustards as well. Reasonably priced, great shop. Outdoor benches available!

Owner Jeff & his staff are the friendliest group of folks that you could hope to meet in Stowe or anywhere else. I recently had car trouble coming into town and, out of his own goodwill, Jeff helped me find a tow and a mechanic to get me home to my family in short order. Thanks again for your help and kindness, Jeff. And I suppose I should mention... the baked goods are divine!

Witness the spectacle of water cascading down sheer cliffs and carving its way through the rocky gorge, creating an awe-inspiring sight.
Very pretty low-intensity hiking area with signs explaining the geology. The falls are a long series of small falls that you get to see almost exclusively from above and from a bit of a distance. Not a spot for swimming.

Very beautiful overall. A moderately difficult hike with a lot of elevation change. Very humid and hot (in July)! The view on the way down is much better than the experience at the bottom which was a bit underwhelming.

Sterling gorge falls is a very nice local hike. The path to the falls winds through dense trees, it's not an exposed falls. Depending on the season, you do need to hop across some rocks and water to really see the falls. Be on the lookout for a geocaching box if you are into that. Lots of cool stuff in it.

The menu has good variety and I hope to be able to try some hot sandwiches soon.

OMG! Our family was looking for an easy lunch spot and boy did we find something special. A wide variety of options were available and the building was very clean and comfortable. There was a very friendly and inviting young gentleman that greeted us upon arrival. He took our order and said he was relatively new but he delivered a high level of service that goes far beyond what we expected. So caring and engaging to our party. Now the food was surprisingly good for a sandwich spot. I indulged in the Nashville chicken sandwich and it blew me away. I'm a big pepper head so I seek out hot and spicy meals that deliver on a level of pain/pleasure that hits all the feels. This sandwich meets that mark and more! So flavorful and delicious with just the right amount of heat. My personal top 3 chicken sandwiches of all time. I left feeling fulfilled and wanting to go back again soon. The rest of my party also thoroughly enjoyed their meals.

Parks
Waterbury Center State Park is a 90-acre park located on a reservoir just outside of Stowe, Vermont. It offers picnic sites, boat rentals, a nature trail, and a swimming beach. Visitors can rent stand-up paddleboards, kayaks, and canoes from local outfitters to explore the quiet and clear lake with stunning mountain views. The park also features grassy areas for picnicking with scattered grills and a small beach area perfect for kids.
I cannot begin to describe the calmness and serenity of this place and such a cute picnic spot with absolutely picturesque views of water, the sun and greenery & orange-ery & red-ery(Fall). You can also go for Kayaking, kayaks are available and there is ample space to park. Cute Benches under trees and green grass to sit if you want. Love the location! Very quiet and peaceful! Breathe some fresh air and relax! Please note there are no trash cans there, so please take a trash bag with you to bring back the garbage.

Fantastic place to kayak! The views are incredible and the boats are very respectful of kayakers and others in the water. $10 feet is worth it!!

Great for kayaking. Rental folks were friendly and helpful. Looks like it feels up super quickly though!

Really nice park with amazing views. It is mainly for water activities like kayak, swimming, stand up paddling, etc.

Super calm and quiet. I almost went kayaking here, but the water was a little cold for my liking - I’m sure it would have been incredible, though. There’s a trail that’s pretty straightforward but not particularly noteworthy.

My son was upset when we first got there and didn't want to get out of the car, but once he did I couldn't get him out of the water to leave!!! They had so much fun so did I, we will definitely being going back again soon!!!

Hiking Trails
Nestled in the heart of Vermont, Stowe Pinnacle offers an invigorating hiking experience that is sure to delight outdoor enthusiasts. To reach this stunning destination, begin your journey on Route 100 in Stowe Village and follow a scenic route through Upper Hollow Road until you arrive at the state parking area. The adventure kicks off with a blue-blazed trail that meanders across fields before transforming into a rocky ascent. As you climb, you'll encounter breathtaking views of Mt.
Moderate hike. Take a few stops on the way up and down to get your breath or rest your knees. Some scrambling near the top but worth the view! Had lunch at the top. Everyone we passed on the way up said it was worth it and it was!
Shaline B — Google review
Amazing hike, but be prepared… I hiked yesterday (April 16, 2023) and it was all-terrain. The snow is melting at the top so the hike included a lot of mud, water from melting snow, snow, and ice. For a good portion, I was essentially stepping up rocks (that would normally be stepping stones) but it was like climbing up a gentle stream. If I didn’t have my hiking boots and trekking poles, I wouldn’t have had fun… and could easily have been injured. (I’d call myself an intermediate hiker. There were other people who made it up/down without boots/poles, but I wouldn’t have wanted to. I saw someone else wipe out going down because they slipped in the mud.) From the first parking lot, you go up a hill (less attractive and you might start to wonder if the whole hike is going to be like that), turn onto flat ground (with a lovely view), and then the real hike begins. Given the conditions, though the sign where I parked calls it a “short” hike, it took me 3.5 hours round trip. Overall, it was a challenging hike, but I’m glad I did it and the summit view is gorgeous.
Sheila D — Google review
Started at 8 am frozen packed snow all the way and ice on the stairs, bare rock at top. Crampons over sturdy hiking boots and poles very helpful. It was a blast!
Pamela S — Google review
Worth it for the view at the top. A moderate hike with a few rock scramble inclines. A few people carrying small children made it without a problem.
Justin L — Google review
Amazing hike and views from the top! It can be quite windy at the top so pack a jacket and plenty of water. The trail is rugged throughout, with either rocks, roots, or steep climbs facing you most of the way. It feels longer than it is because it's all uphill to the top right from the trailhead. Worth the effort though for one of the best views around.
Nathan M — Google review
This was our 3rd time climbing this trail but the first time we made it to the summit! The last couple times it was quite icy, but this time not at all, just a bit muddy in places. Making it to the top was SO worth it. The view was spectacular!! Also, it will now be my favorite trail because my boyfriend proposed to me at the summit! I had just set my camera up to take a bunch of times pictures of us at the summit & on the 3rd one, he pulled out the ring. I was so surprised! Anyway, great hike!
Peg H — Google review
This is rated as a moderate hike. But it’s all relative. Our family hikes a lot and all agree it was one of the hardest we have ever done. Very steep and rocky. That being said we saw a couple of families with small kids and a ton of dogs up make them trek so it’s doable. And the view at the top is well worth the effort.
Ann B — Google review
I'd read about the golden retriever that climbs alone and hangs out with hikers, but didn't think I'd actually witness this. I swear this dog has a human soul. Super friendly and he actually guided us about a quarter mile down the mountain (until we name across a woman climbing up and he went up with her). The view up there is amazing and totally worth the climb.

The Gondola Skyride in Stowe, VT is a must-try experience recommended by Love hard, Travel Often. It takes you to the summit of Mount Mansfield, offering breathtaking views without the need for hiking. At the top, you can visit The Waffle restaurant and enjoy a meal while taking in the stunning scenery before riding back down. Additionally, there's an option to take three zip lines back down to the base area for an exhilarating adventure through the Green Mountains.
Okay, state at the outset, it's not cheap. That said, it's wonderful in every other way. Staff was outstanding. Helped us in and out of cars at both ends and provided information about how best to enjoy the time near the summit. Wonderful views and photo ops and a gift shop, waffle house, and seating near the top. Didn't climb to the summit, but met hikers who said it took about 40 additional minutes one way and involved some clambering, so don't do the additional hike unless you have hiking shoes, poles, water, and rain/weather gear. And plan your day so you have enough time to hike and get the gondola back down. Really enjoyed the experience.
Caitlin A — Google review
Love love love this place!! We tried to time it right with peak fall season. The ticket prices are a bit high ($42/person). But the views were spectacular. All staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. We got our tickets and hopped on a gondola with no wait on a Wednesday afternoon despite there being a lot of people there. The ride took about 15 to get to the top (30 round trip). We stayed up there to enjoy the views and take pictures. They had a restaurant but we did not go. There were restrooms at the top as well that were pretty clean. So glad we made this part of our trip!
Rachel C — Google review
It is a very famous place in Vermont but I was not that impressed. It is a long and nice gondola ride but the fall colors were not there much. I wish if they were open for a longer time as tickets are pricey and they close at 5. Parking the car was a task, it took 45 mins to park and same time to get out of the parking out. There is a gift shop at the top where yiu can buy souvenirs.
Mohit G — Google review
Gondola only runs certain months/seasons. Online reservations are highly recommended. There is a restaurant at the top, reservations are also required. We booked well in advance and had no issues. This was fun, views are beautiful, there is sitting up on the mountain, clean restrooms as well. You can then ride a different gondola or drive across to do some shopping.
Alva ( — Google review
Great item on your todo list when visiting Stowe! It’s about a fifteen minute ride up to the top. Price is a little pricey in my opinion at about $45 pp but a great experience. You can have waffles at a stand or eat at the Cliffside restaurant.
Marty P — Google review
This is a can’t miss experience when in Stowe. Unfortunately, the tickets are a little bit pricey and it was also pretty crowded on the day we went. The views were certainly spectacular though - especially from the very top! Would also recommend thinking ahead and scheduling a reservation for the Cliff House restaurant if you want to eat there - they book up fast! All in all, an amazing experience!
Claire H — Google review
OMG!!! The most wonderful thing yo do in Stowe is this gondola ride. The colors you get to see as you are going up the hill and coming down is even better. I will go back next year to see it again

One of the best experiences in Stowe for fall colours. Highly recommended for best view to enjoy waffles and soup. Also recommend for advance reservations for the cliff restaurant!

Additionally, it provides access to outdoor activities such as tennis on six courts and various pool options.
Charlotte was the most helpful!! We were there for a wedding and everything was beautiful and so well taken care of. I had to ask Charlotte questions quite a few times but she was so kind with each question. It rained on the wedding day and she even provided a ton of umbrellas for us to use. We stayed in a resort home booked through the hotel website and it was wonderful! Like having a little Airbnb with plenty of space but super easy access to the main building. The wedding lawn and tent across the main road were also stunning. The shuttle service from the main building down to the wedding was such a pleasant surprise!
Amanda B — Google review
We just left Topnotch after a 4 day weekend getaway. We really hate to be negative people or put down a good business if they don't deserve it, but we also need to be honest here. Based on the website, photos, and reviews other people left, we were really looking forward to this stay. And now, thinking about the amount of money we spent, we were very underwhelmed and a little disappointed in many ways. To give credit whet credit is due, here are the positives. The staff was incredibly welcoming, friendly and helpful. No complaints there at all. There are a couple of fitepits outside and recreational areas with a pretty view. There's a tennis court/basketball hoop to use for fun and the indoor and outdoor pools are great. Right across the street from the main entrance, you can walk to a lovely long walking path along a river which was a nice thing to do. However, my husband and I were most looking forward to that big hot tub. The waterfall wall is a nice touch, but none of the jets for your back were working so it was just soaking in the warm water without the traditional massage of the jets. We felt our room, for the rate we paid was only ok. We've stayed in nicer rooms for less money other places. Yes, I will say we traveled with our dog so we were limited to the dog friendly rooms, but still. Lots of scratches on the wall, lots of cracked, peeling paint on the walls and ceiling. The ac only worked half of the time then it would decide to stop working and get uncomfortably warm for a while until it would start up again. Lots of kids running around on the floor above us seemed very loud and obnoxious. The food was well made and tasty. Good menu options in each restaurant, but certainly nothing spectacular for the very very high prices. If traveling with kids, we'd recommend bringing food in the room or going out somewhere in town because it's just astronomical prices for regular decent food. The grounds could surely use some maintenence as far as everywhere we walked, there were pieces of stone, all the walkways and stairs were just chipping away. There were large chunks of stone all around the grass that can have sharp edges so we were worried to have our dog step on it too much. I'm sure there's more I'm forgetting to mention, but this is getting too long. Unfortunately, the bottom line to our review is that we'd love to come back up to Stowe sometime (without our dog would be nice) and do some other things we didn't get to do with him. The area is lovely. But we know that we would look for another place to stay that might just be a little bit better for the price.
Paige B — Google review
Spent 2 weekend nights just last week. This is our second time at Topnotch and I remembered that the location was great and the view from the pool is amazing. Best view and location of all hotels in Stowe in my opinion. I was disappointed to see that it looked a little rundown on both the outside and in the room. The bed platform and bureaus need to be replaced. The stone tiles outside on the patio are broken (badly), to the point where I was baffled as to why they hadn't been replaced or repaired. That being said, the room was comfortable, the shower fantastic, and the service was great. Food at Flannel great too. Because of this and the great location, I would stay here again, BUT I would be crossing my fingers upon arrival, that some updates/repairs had been applied.

Wonderful, relaxing with great customer service. From the time we entered with Charlotte at the front desk, smiling and greeting us to Emily, helping us with food and drinks poolside, to the amazing spa staff, including my fav, Rita! Along with Wesley in the Roost, who served us amazing cocktails... couldn't get better. Oh, and that peanut butter muffin in the morning that knocked my socks off..served warm. Will definitely be back..the tranquility beckons me, even now!

For over $500 a night + $44 resort fee (resort?!?), I expected more than an old motel level room in a relatively run down hotel. Breakfast was not included and was definitely not worth the price.

Awesome hotel. Very nice! Great amenities great service. Beautiful place with beautiful views
Shelly J — Google review
The resort is beautiful and the staff is fantastic. The outdoor hot tub, sauna, and indoor hot tub with high pressure waterfall (yeah, you read that correctly), are awesome! We had noisy, inconsiderate people above us that kept us up until 2 in the morning. The next day, we asked to be moved to another room. The front desk manager, Danielle, was very apologetic (it wasn't her fault) and couldn't be nicer, arranging for another room. The next night was a much better experience. Her attention to the customer experience was flawless. We didn't need much, just a quiet night's sleep, but she went well beyond to made sure we had a positive experience. She is a fantastic representative of your resort.
Joe G — Google review
*I only used the spa facilities.* The front desk staff was nice upon arrival for a smooth check in. I had the most amazing massage by Marilyn! When using the spa facility you get access to the locker room with a hot tub, sauna, steam room and a private ladies lounge. I wish they had signs in the ladies lounge that it was a quiet zone. You also gain access to the hotel indoor pool and hot tub, plus the outdoor pool and hot tub. The day I used the facility, there were lots of children at the pool. It was fine, I usually just prefer a quiet relaxing experience. When ordering & eating food, you could only be in the main pool area. I will say the food was great! While I would not rush back to use the facilities at TopNotch Resort, I would go schedule another massage with Marilyn again in a heartbeat.

This place is amazing. Such a great layout, food hits the spot, Evan the bartender honestly makes the best cocktails in town. Way beyond what you would expect at a bowling alley. Worth coming in just for a well made libation. Miles makes it all happen. Thanks for a great night.

Bowling here was a great experience — loved the setup and especially the bowling balls painted like billiard balls, such a fun touch. We ordered a couple appetizers while playing: the pretzel bites which were tasty, and the fried cheese curds, which ended up being our favorite.

Evan.... This guy. An absolute all-star in the the bowling alley. If you haven't fallen in love with Vermont already, he'll certainly make sure you do. If you loved Vermont before you've had a cocktail from him, you'll love it even more. If you're visiting Stowe be sure to hit Stowe Bowl, roll a couple of strings, and be sure to see Evan at the bar. Talk to him about mixology, you won't be disappointed. This is top notch service from an even better gentleman. Get there!

Additionally, the company provides guided tours throughout the year, including kayaking in the summer and sledding in the winter. Whether you're into water trips or snow adventures, Umiak has something for everyone.
Just came back from the snowshoe/snow tubing tour with Richard! What a beautiful day. Definitely worth the price as you get the guidance, some light snacks and snow tubing. Beautiful scenery and highlight for me was walking on the snow covered frozen reservoir. To top it off a marriage proposal occurred from one of the couples. ( she said yes!). Highly recommend. We were contemplating just renting the equipment and paying the trail fee and going out on our own, but so glad we did this tour instead.

Our self guided tour of the Winooski River was amazing! The team booked us last minute the night before and Heather met us promptly at the pick up point. She was so enthusiastic and knowledgeable. She made us feel very safe and showed us everything we needed to know. She even held our car keys so they didn’t get lost in the river. My husband and I then enjoyed 2 blissful hours on the river in the sun. It was the perfect way to kick off our vacation in Stowe. Thank you!

Steve was an incredible resource for knowledge and expertice when my wife and I were shopping for a new pair of XC Touring skis. We had an idea of what we wanted when we arrived based on our usual ski habits, but his paitence while explaining ski features, bindings, and boot types was nothing short of saint-like. He went back and forth to the stock room several times we tried on multiple pairs of boots. The prices for our setups were easily the best in the area. We will definitely be returning for future outdoor gear and some XC ski tours.

Review: A Fantastic Dinner at The Harrison We had a wonderful dinner at The Harrison. The ambience is absolutely amazing—though the dining area is in the basement, it’s beautifully decorated and doesn’t feel stuffy at all. The service was equally impressive; our server was very attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. For food, my wife had the calamari, which was fantastic, while I started with the Brie and jam—it was delicious. I also tried the duck wings as a starter, which were excellent. For my main course, I had the pistachio-crusted venison, and it was the highlight of the night—perfectly cooked and bursting with flavor. Overall, the dishes were well-priced, the atmosphere was warm and inviting, and the experience was excellent. We’ll definitely be returning!

This is a nice restaurant with a small but excellent menu. We sat outside on the patio since the inside was completely booked weeks ahead. We were able to be seated within 30 minutes. Service was ok, but not what I’d expect from such a pricey restaurant. Our waiter was friendly and took good care of us. The food took a long time to come out, but we were wowed when it did. Beautiful presentation on all dishes. And every meal was outstanding! The butternut squash soup was the soup special for the night and it was amazing! Our main dishes were the mushroom ravioli, glazed salmon, and pork chop special. All were delicious and perfectly portioned.

This is a hidden gem in Stowe! In the basement of a store the vibe is incredible mixing cozy with upscale! The warm atmosphere sets the tone for the delectable food that follows! Sharing the crab cakes, bread, beet salad, harvest salad the crab cakes and beet salad were top choices! All the food was fresh and extremely well seasoned. For entrees the stand outs were the pistachio crusted venison! Hands down a table pleaser! This is not your typical venison, it is lean, easy to bite, and the pistachio crusted venison adds an incredible crunch! Cannot recommend this enough one of the best red meat entrees I’ve ever tried! Harrison’s is a great stop in Stowe for a group dinner or date night!

The food was decent, though not exceptional. The atmosphere was alright — it’s located in a basement, which may not be for everyone. Service was fine and staff were polite. Overall, a solid experience, but there’s room for improvement.

Excellent food and friendly attentive service. Seasonal Roasted Beet Salad - just the right combination of ingredients(beats, grams, pear, goat cheese, vinaigrette) in the right proportions so that they worked perfectly with each other with none of them overpowering the others. Crayfish and Crab Cakes - nice flavorful lumps of crab meat with just the right amount of sauce and just a dusting of Old Bay Seasoning. Pistachio Crusted Venison - I don’t usually like blue cheese in my food but the out ended up being the right flavor for the meat, pistachios, and sauce. Profiteroles - the fudge is between a ganache and pudding, rich dark and not too sweet.

We came up to Stowe for our first visit. We came to the restaurant on a Friday night and sat at the bar with Jenn the bartender. She was fantastic. Very attentive, friendly and knowledgeable. We went At 4:30 and were able to get six seats at the bar. We had multiple appetizers drinks and dinner dinners. We also had dessert. Every single thing we ordered was excellent. Our group really enjoyed the tuna and the shared oysters. One of the favorite meals was the pork chop. I was very happy to find a restaurant that had profiteroles. My favorite dessert. They were also excellent. Wish I could give more than five stars, that’s how happy we were with this meal.

High praise for Kelsey who appeared to be hostess, runner, and problem solver! Wife and I were celebrating our 25th and Kelsey dealt with an issue (no fault of restaurant) that could have led to a disappointing evening. Instead, she turned our night out into something we will long remember. Great customer service like that is hard to find no matter how much you spend or where you go. We loved the romantic atmosphere, the old jazz, and the outstanding food (venison was best I've had).

Nestled just 30 minutes from Burlington, Bolton Valley Resort offers a variety of accommodations, ski options, and dining choices. With 71 trails catering to all skill levels and an annual snowfall of 300 inches, the resort is a haven for both beginners and experts. What sets it apart are its extensive backcountry trails and night skiing opportunities. The expansive backcountry terrain provides stunning views of Lake Champlain.
Awesome smaller mountain, more of a rustic feel than overly hyped and built out mega-get-as-many people on lift lines places on ikon and epic. Might skiing was great, really cool seeing tons of local families getting out after school, brought me back to getting out to small local mountain as a kid with my dad. Anyway, great mountain, unfortunately it was quite icy the day I was there so I didn't venture in too far in to the woods but that's where this place seems to shine. Gorgeous view of lake Champlain.

Bolton is a great little mountain! I used to ski here almost exclusively from 2019-2023. It's a little smaller than some of the competitors, but that doesn't diminish the quality of the mountain. Plenty of good variety in terrain, good snow, and just has that true New England ski vibe. My only complaint is the staff in the rental shop and James Moore tavern were...a little questionable in my opinion. As someone who worked in customer service for about a decade, I think the professionalism was lacking a bit. One of them was downright rude to us, she seemed very bothered by having to do her job. Overall, it was a good experience and I will come back when I'm in town again. It could be top notch here, but there is a few things that need to be addressed in my opinion.
Nick R — Google review
Bolton Valley skiing was great. We arrived for a half day morning ski (9:00-12:30). It took about 45 minutes to get rentals first thing in the morning when they opened. But once we were on the hills it was beautiful. Great conditions and a variety of skill hills. Good for beginners or middle range skiers.

I LOVE Bolton Valley. Bolton Valley has an old school VT Ski Area vibe, complete with fat biking, cross country skiing, split boarding in the backcountry, a skate / BMX park, and pool. There are several dining options on-site, and plenty of others if you are willing to drive out to Waterbury, Burlington, and Stowe. Plenty to do for the non-skier. The ski lesson programs are also very good, small class sizes make them more individualized and worth the price. The trails are great, plenty of groomed, natural, and glades to keep the most skilled interested. Bolton may not have some of the frills you might get at a Stowe, but it is family and budget friendly by comparison and you will absolutely have a fun time.
John R — Google review
Bolton Valley Resort was great! I took a 2 hour adult class with instructor, Guy, and it was great! Guy was patient, fun, and a great teacher well versed in technique. I would definitely take another class from him. The resort was good. There were lots of rental options for boots/ski's. The beginner slope had a pull rope but no beginner ski lift. BUT the green mountain runs were an appropriate level for a beginner. Would go back! Also there were hotel rooms right at the base of the mountain. I didn't stay there, but would be a great option for someone interested in that.
Danielle K — Google review
Great mountain! Much more affordable than many others and great conditions. Lots of lifts and great backcountry/tree skiing, will definitely be coming back. and even had a small Japanese Onigiri hut!

"I’ve been to Bolton for both day and night skiing, as well as mountain biking, and it’s a fantastic local resort. The staff are friendly and helpful, and the overall atmosphere is welcoming and enjoyable."

Bolton Valley Ski Resort at 4302 Access Road in Richmond, VT is fantastic! We happened to get there right after a large powder dump and were so fortunate!!!! We had booked ahead for the Inn, right at the base of the mountain, and sprung for a slope side view. We weren’t disappointed! Bolton Valley is and Indy resort with heart. The lifts are old school and slow, but to be honest, we were skiing so long and so hard on that fresh pow pow, that we needed the break!!! haha. Parking is limited, so you have to get there early (on powder days!). The parking attendants said it was the busiest they’d ever seen it that day. It took us over an hour to get up the access road!! The parking lots were full and they were turning people away. There are two side to the mountain. One side being a little lower in elevation. On the second day, when temps were warming a bit, the right, lower side was turning mash potatoes, while the upper left was still fluffy. This mountain has so great varied terrain and we really had fun. I particularly liked the steep drop on Spillway. I wish it was a little longer :). The lodge was pretty old school too, with smaller rooms and bathrooms. We could see to the outside in the gap around our AC unit LOL, but it was all sufficient and the staff was amazing! They went out of their way to help us and to make sure we were comfortable. We appreciated them so much! On the downside, the ski lodge is old, very dirty and the kitchen was ultra slow. We waited a really long time for our food and it was just meh. I hope they change their food vendor because they are losing money with what they had in the 23/24 season. Maybe 🤔 it was because h th year were overwhelmed on this powder day? IDK. One other cool things about this area too, is that it’s located near Waterbury and Stowe areas. There is so much to do after skiing. I hope you get to check out Bolton, if you haven’t already!

Visitors can enjoy activities like snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, hiking, and dog walking while taking in the diverse wildlife and birdwatching opportunities.
Very good, easy hike. When I went, there were very few people on the trail (contrary to the popular Cady Hill Trail, nearby).
Jacob M — Google review
Might be an ok local birding spot, but many people with dogs also use the trail. Many just leave their dog's poop in plastic bags along the trail.
Edward K — Google review
Easy walk in the woods with beautiful fall colors. Our dog loved it too. Wear good shoes for hiking there are a lot of gnarly, knotty tree roots. The trails are well maintained and -- special bonus -- its impossible to get lost.
Pat O — Google review
This is a great place for a family hike. The trails are wooded and beautiful. There isn't much elevation gain which is great for all ages. The path is straightforward and swings by some fun things to see including a gnome's home and a sugar shack. We passed several groups along the hike and everyone was very respectful of distance and put on a mask. This is a great hike just outside of stow, definitely worth the detour.
Barry H — Google review
Nice wooded hike my dogs really enjoyed it. We were pleasantly surprised we had it to ourselves on a Saturday afternoon.

Although very easy, one of the most beautiful trails I've ever been. Went there end of October, the leaves were glowing yellow. Very beautiful and friendly walking for children.

If you're looking to try something new, definitely give Michael and Monique a call! They are masters of the art of glass blowing and will help you create beautiful works of art that you'll never forget. Their studio is beautiful, clean, and well-maintained, and the class with Michael was absolutely phenomenal. Your glass creations will arrive safely packaged just three days after class is finished!
Cool place. I loved the experience, you can go into the room that they make the items. You can also go into the little gallery. Got some nice glasses and a REALLY nice spinning top ball.(watch the video, you’ll understand)

I've been to Little River Hot Glass twice while vacationing in Stowe. The first time Michael helped us make our own pieces, which was fun and they turned out great! We also bought a few Christmas presents from the store which were a big hit! We had such a good experience that we came back a year later with remains that Michael put in beautiful glass pieces. Highly recommend!
Melanie J — Google review
Amazing!! Michael’s expertise in glass blowing is very impressive to watch. He talks throughout about the projects and is happy to answer questions. Beautiful artwork. And everyone who works there is so nice and also happy to answer anything. I was smiling the whole time. Definitely worth stopping in 😁

A glass blowing shop making unique pieces. We took a free option and observed creation of a pair of beautiful traditional wedding pieces. The master was providing an explanation as he was blowing these pieces. The shop owner was gratious enough to allow us to photograph pieces on display and to answer our questions and observations. Very interesting. The shop owner is sharp-witted and is pleasure to talk to. Highly recommend.
Arthur Y — Google review
Going to Little River Hot Glass Studio was a highlight of our trip to Stowe. The owners are so friendly and willing to show us how they create their hand crafted pieces. They are all each a work of art in and of itself. We could have spent all day here and we came home with 2 glasses and a oversized spinning marble on a dish. This is a must do, must see and must buy and bring home some art when in Stowe!
Shaun K — Google review
Highly recommend this place to learn the art of glass making! Michael is very knowledgeable and takes his time to go over all information and answer any questions you may have. We last minute called and were able to get in for a session that was just the two of us. Michael makes the experience fun and gets to know you, while showing you his expertise. Highly recommend for something fun/new to do any day—especially on a rainy day! He has also lived in the area for over 30 years and will give great recommendations for restaurants nearby!

We randomly saw the shop and decided to make an appointment for a lesson. It was such a great decision! so much fun and a great experience. we walked away with lovely glass pieces and also purchased a beautiful set before we left. Highly recommend - a deal for the experience and to walk away with a little souvenir as well.

Ridiculously loud. It is as if they don't want anyone to actually be able to read or study. Staff laugh at the top of their lungs, bang on things to emphasize how funny they are and have loud, babbling brook conversations with "patrons" encouraging chatter, walk tourists around talking at the top of their lungs, all of which can be heard from the only "quiet" room which is not insulated and the door is kept open.

This is a great place to spend time browsing books when the weather is too crummy to be outside. They have very comfortable chairs and free wifi access. They also have a good collection of audio books and an even better selection of movies (lots of documentaries).

Sterling Pond Trail is a challenging yet rewarding 5-mile climb popular with pet owners and their furry companions. The trail culminates in a pond where dogs can cool off after the hike, but it's important to keep them on a leash. Hikers are treated to stunning views of Mount Mansfield and Sterling Pond, as well as lush forests, meadows, and diverse wildlife.
A great trail, albeit very steep with lots of climbing, and quite difficult as it is rocky. There are some beautiful views, and Sterling Pond itself is gorgeous. I would say that this is an excellent trail for anyone in good shape who wants to challenge themselves. It gets very busy with the parking and you will need ti arrive early to get parking. It’s also a good idea to wear decent hiking shoes - the trail is wet and very rocky.
Blake R — Google review
Beautiful area . Highly recommend driving along route 108 for the view.Navigate to Jeffersonville county store and it will bring you to the beginning of route 108. A lot of people, so be patient with the parking situation. We got lucky and parked right across from the trail entrance. There are many small parking areas along route 108 and next to each there is a trail of some kind . The hike is moderate - rocky upward facing terrain. Be careful of slippery rocks coming down the last strach to the pond(they don't look it but they are very smooth and slippery)- I personally fell on my A$$ and it was unpleasant 😅And we saw a few people repeating my endeavor. If you are in good shape it's about an hour and a half out and back .If you are a smoker like me haha then about 2.5 hours because of the immediate steep up angle. We did the trail to the pond and then went up to one of the summits right next to the pond. The view is so beautiful. We spent there about 3.5 hours all and all with enjoying the view and having a snack.
Ola N — Google review
Despite what you read online, it is a good 2hrs up a steep and rough trail and another 75-90 mins back down. Allow yourselves at least 4-4.5hrs incl time relaxing at the lake. Totally worth it. around 1.2miles each way and almost 900 ft climb. Carrying a hiking stick and good footwear is helpful
Rajiv D — Google review
Beautiful trail and refreshing swim in the pond! Definitely a steep hike but worth it! A little wet and muddy after rain but still hikeable
Jenny R — Google review
I started the trail with my son (10 years) thought that it’s an easy ~2 miles total. However, within 10 minutes into it, we realized that it’s not going to be easy. It’s steep and rocky steps. It was a good fun trail with amazing dense woods around, nice views and pond view at the end is amazing. We completed the entire trail in about 2 hours.
Tejas G — Google review
Amazing, challenging perfect hike with a nice pond on top and great views just a little beyond. A little rocky at times, but a very doable hike.
B L — Google review
Beautiful place and well worth the hike! I would not classify it as easy especially as someone with short legs but I definitely enjoyed myself and will be back!
Hannah M — Google review
Definitely a moderate hike. Not for weak knees. All very scenic with a lot of fall Kullas to enjoy. I only wish there was more of water bodies lot of steps to climb and can be very slippery.
