Gold Rock Beach is a well-known and beautiful destination located in Lucayan National Park, just 25 miles from Freeport. The beach boasts expansive low-tide shorelines, turquoise waters, and golden sands that have made it famous as a filming location for Pirates of the Caribbean. Despite its popularity, the beach offers a serene getaway with on-site amenities such as BBQ pits and picnic tables nestled within a 40-acre oasis of mangrove, palm, and pine trees.
It's one of the prettiest beaches I've ever seen. Check the tide chart so you can watch the tide go out. It's absolutely gorgeous!
Bobbie P — Google review
The beach goes on a long way so you won't run out of space, no restaurants or shops but the peace and quiet makes the beach feel special, the water is bright blue. They say it's the best beach on Grand Bahama, I agree!

Very peaceful and great walk to the beach.

Gorgeous remote beach. Clearest waters and felt like a private island when we were there. Very peaceful and gorgeous. We brought our own chairs, umbrella, Drinks and snacks to spend the day there. Absolutely beautiful!!
Michelle F — Google review
Alright. This is probably the clean and beautiful water have been in. the softness of the sand is mind blowing. The overall landscape is a gem.
Yannick T — Google review
When I say this is beautiful, it’s an understatement!! The water is so clear and pristine. I was so happy we came here. I would love to rent a car next time and just go back and spend the day here. This is where Johnny Depp came for the filing of some of the Pirates of the Caribbean. There is also a quite a little walk on boardwalk through the mangrove to get to the beach, so wanted to throw that out there Incase someone can’t walk as far. I had ankle surgery and I was having a hard time walking it. A local man is on the beach and rent outs chairs and umbrellas incase anyone doesn’t want to sit in the sand.
Meagan G — Google review
We found this fantastic beach after touring the Lucayan National Park. You walk across the road from the parking lot and walk down an elevated wooden walkway to the ocean. This is the best beach we have ever visited. The ocean is calm and you can walk out several hundred yards in the gradually sloping beach on the white sand beach. If you didn't bring an umbrella or drinks, there is a private vendor who rents umbrellas and lounge chairs and sells drinks and food. We noticed a dirt road entrance after the park entrance which you could park for free and walk to the walkway. We would do this if we returned. However, there is no bathroom on the beach so you might want to pay at the park to use their bathroom and park safely in their lot. We didn't drive further down the road, but believe the beaches further to the east would be just as excellent if you can find a public entrance to the beach. I recommend renting a car and visiting this amazing hidden gem. The beaches along the east end are much better than those to the west end of the island.
Dave O — Google review
Wonderful iconic beach where Pirates Of The Caribbean Dead Man's Chest was filmed. Make sure you park at the Lucaya National Park building. It is currently $11 a person and you get to see some cool caves too. Beach is pristine!

Taino Beach is a picturesque destination with its white sandy shores and clear turquoise waters. It is part of the Northwest Providence Channel in Freeport, extending to other beautiful beaches like Xanadu Beach and Lucayan Beach. Beyond the resort areas, visitors can discover secluded beaches favored by locals. Flamingo Bay Hotel, operated by Taino Beach Resort, offers access to Taino Beach's amenities such as the water amusement park and numerous dining options.
Beautiful beach! Nice, soft sand with crystal blue water. Even in the overcast and rainy weather we had a wonderful time and definitely recommend.
Kayla M — Google review
Beach was cool and probably the one thing I'll do everytime I come to Freeport because it's not a favorite place for me at all and this was first time at beach there so it's actually cool
O C — Google review
Great location to take kids to run around. Word restrictions on visiting the monument when they have an event going on. The birding trails are great but only when there is nothing major going on. The kids play area could use some love but has some good staples
Ancilleno D — Google review
We absolutely loved our time at this beach! Sand and water is amazing! It's free as well! If you go to the left of the restaurant, you'll see a sign and you can just walk right through. They have wooden chairs to relax on which was nice.
Christina M — Google review
Beautiful and busy beach especially during peak cruise ship tourists time. We were not part of the cruise ship hence stay way long after and we got the beach to ourselves. It’s as beautiful as Gold Coast Rock beach when it’s not busy. Water is shallow and calm. We get to see fishes very close up to shore. Others complaint about paying an entrance fee, that is, if you want to be able to enjoy an exclusive section of the beach with other paying tourists. The beach is public, you don’t have to pay a fee to get in. You are at a tourist trap hence will also pay tourist price beverages.
Melinda H — Google review
Really nice beach, white sand, calm waters, great for swimming. There are a few bars with sunbeds to rent across the shore. Apart from Pirate's Cove though - a stylish beach bar + actives centre - which had plenty of people, the rest of this beach is pretty quiet. You can go for a good a walk and take really good shots. I'd definitely recommend for families given the quietness of the beach but still having a few options for good and drinks.
Emerson L — Google review
Great local beach. With all the chairs and the shuttered hotels and unkept beaches I imagine this place gets crowded when cruise ships dock for more than 3 hours. They charge for everything ( eg entering the beach, chairs, food drinks, umbrellas, etc.)
Nat C — Google review
I could have stayed here longer! This was a carnival excursion. The bus ride was not long. Even though we came in November and the water was a little cold it did not stop us from getting in! Food and drink stand were available. Beach umbrellas and chairs were available. Bathrooms were clean. I would come back!

Xanadu Beach is a popular tourist destination known for its relaxed atmosphere, wide sandy shores, and warm waters. It is part of the 97km (60 miles) stretch of beaches that includes Lucayan Beach and Taino Beach in Freeport. While these beaches are close to beach hotels and offer various family activities, water sports, shops, and restaurants, Xanadu Beach stands out for its clear shallow waters perfect for paddling or snorkeling.
Beautiful and quiet beach with crystal clear water. Loved going for a swim or a walk.

Public Beach in Freeport on the Island of Grand Bahamas. Beautiful Beach. No food or drinks available so you will need to bring your own. No sun-beds again you will need to bring something to sit or lie on. A nice place for a walk. A great day out if you bring your own entertainment.
Food_views A — Google review
This beach is okay, definitely not one of Grand Bahama's best. If you're looking for a more lively beach environment, this is not your place as there are no vendors or restaurants nearby really. But its a nice quiet beach
Davis R — Google review
A hidden gem and I wish this beach stays hidden from the crowds.

Beautiful clear water sandy white beach and surprisingly not overly crowded if you get to Freeport it's differently worth going to.

The beach at the hotel side is still in good shae. However the east side of the rock jetty to the west is partiallt damaged from the strong northeast that passed through a few weeks ago.

Fortune Beach, located on the southwestern shore of Grand Bahama Island near Cape Smiths in the Freeport region, is a serene and tranquil shoreline with bright blue-green waters and an abundance of seashells. It is a hidden gem that offers a peaceful escape from the tourist-filled areas, yet it's conveniently close to Garden of the Groves and the bustling Lucaya Marketplace.
The beach was not crowded, and had breathtaking ocean views, as well as shady spots to rest under trees and escape the bright sun. The water is shallow for longer distance than most beaches on Grand Bahama Island, allowing visitors to wade relatively far into the ocean, without having to swim. Small sand bar islands often form and disappear with the changing tides, creating unique and ephemeral beach experiences out in the water. There's a beachside restaurant in the area as well, which is also a delight!

Barbary Beach is a hidden gem located about 3.2 miles southwest of Freetown, offering an escape from the bustling tourist spots that often characterize Grand Bahama's coastline. This undeveloped stretch features soft white sands and stunningly clear, shallow turquoise waters, making it ideal for those seeking tranquility and natural beauty. The beach is surrounded by tidal pools and rock jetties, providing a perfect setting for sunbathing or exploring marine life like conch shells.
Peaceful, quiet, serene beach, especially the western side. There was literally no one around when I visited today. Stroll the beach, sunbathe, relax, this is the perfect spot away from the busier tourist-oriented beaches that are pricey and laden with hustlers.
K M — Google review
Way off the beaten path, deserted, and in an area that appears was devastated. Not maintained. But still beautiful to visit.
Shireen B — Google review
This beach...wow. So serene. So beautiful (but it’s the Bahamas, so beautiful beaches are infinite, lol) However, this particular stretch of sand and land is the ultimate chill spot. Driving towards the beach, you also get to see and witness the devastation & aftermath of Hurricane Dorian. The amount of homes (& boats) that were destroyed by that massive storm is so heartbreaking. *So spend your dollars locally and support Bahamians and Bahamian businesses while you are here 🇧🇸 The Bahamas is always so welcoming to tourists and others and folks from all walks of life...we do our part by spending locally and investing in businesses here. Ok. So. Back to this gorgeous beach. Because it is a nice drive away from the main parts of town in Freeport, make sure you have gas ⛽️ AND a buddy (or 5) when you go to visit this beach. Yes it is secluded, which is always a bonus for us non party boat, chill vibe-sans a huge crowd of beach goers, people. That being said, it’s SO secluded that you don’t want to go there alone. That’s why is said take a buddy, or 5, lol. This beach is gorgeous. Take a group of friends with ya and have a great time 🤙🏿 (don’t forget to take everything you brought with you 🗑 so we can all do our part in keeping theses beaches clean and pristine!)
Smitty S — Google review
Wicked good beach!! White sands, long and open. Blue waters and pretty secluded. Wonderful spot to relax 😎
Rick P — Google review
Perfect beach for a walk far from everything, literally.
Guillaume V — Google review
Beautiful water and secluded beach, it doesn’t get much better!
William H — Google review
Look for natural fountains at low tide! There are huge submerged limestone cave systems in Grand Bahama. Some of the caverns connect to the sea, and when the tide goes out they partially empty, creating natural fountains in the shallow water. There's currently one at 26°33'38.7"N 78°31'41.0"W . That's on the stretch that Google Maps calls Peterson Beach, but the locals call the whole of this section Barbary Beach
Andrew C — Google review
Beautiful calm waters, crystal clear over the grasses. Good restaurant, Banana Bay nearby. No pressure to do anything in a hurry. You can find lots of mature conch in the grasses a little way from the shore.

Lucayan National Park is a must-visit destination in the Bahamas, offering a diverse range of ecosystems and natural wonders. Spanning 40 acres, this park features expansive beaches, sand dunes, mangrove swamps, and lush forests of palm and pine trees. It is home to one of the world's longest underwater cave systems, providing an unparalleled diving experience for visitors.
It is pretty inside the caves, the water is so clear and bright blue, swimming not allowed. The park is small but has flora and fauna to take a look at, which is why the 11 dollars entry fee is well worth it. Once you're done, make your way by walking across the highway and mangrove swamp to the amazing Gold Rock Beach, takes only about 10-15 minutes on the well marked path.
Jungletraveler00 1 — Google review
Lucayan National Park is a hidden gem in the Bahamas! The mix of lush mangroves, beautiful beaches, and fascinating cave systems makes it a must-visit. The trails are peaceful and easy to navigate, and Gold Rock Beach is absolutely breathtaking. A perfect spot for nature lovers and anyone looking to experience the island’s natural beauty. Highly recommended!
Virgil V — Google review
Great little park! Beautiful underground caves and flowers throughout. Friendly park rangers. Compsting toilet was clean. The Gold Rock Beach is the best on the island! The mangroves are fascinating. It is worth the modest fee to support this national treasure and help them expand!
Lara K — Google review
If you are into the beach and nature, you will enjoy this place. There are two caves you can walk down to , and when you finish, you walk across the street to this breathtaking beach. We fell in love immediately. Also, pirates of the Caribbean were filmed here. We found lots or coral, and when the tide is out, the marks you can see in the sand from the waves were pretty neat. Put this place on your bucket list when you come to freeport.
Mary U — Google review
Excellent hike with unique geology. Can be difficult to climb down in some areas. If you have the ability to view, this is a really different experience off the beaten path that harnesses the beauty of the natural environment. Budget Friendly (only $11/pp). Lots of signage. Easy parking. Some garbage cans along the way. Bathrooms do not have plumbing or running water, however the 'pit' was fairly clean and they did have hand sanitizer. It has a fully gravel path, but would not recommend it for someone who has difficulty walking.
Jennie A — Google review
Idyllic. Peaceful, calm, beautiful natural environment. Lucayan National Park is a beautiful place to hike, explore or relax. It is a little bit of a hike to get to the beach but worth it. Bring everything you need because it is pretty remote. I think my favorite thing was relaxing on the beach listening to the waves and feeling like we were the only people on earth.
Mark T — Google review
Beautiful caves ! Well worth the trip from cruise port. Park on dirt road to the right, before park entrance and access boardwalkway to avoid the ridiculous 11$pp fee. Bathrooms are horrendous latrines, you're better off using the bushes. Apparently the 11$ pp doesn't go towards much needed upkeep. No swimming in cave, but scuba is permitted with a permit. Cave is similar to Devils Den in Florida, enjoy 😉 👍

Paradise Cove Beach Resort - The Red Bar is a hidden gem that feels like a world away, despite its proximity to town. This stunning beach cove offers an idyllic escape with its tranquil atmosphere and breathtaking views. Guests can easily access the renowned Deadmans Reef, perfect for snorkeling adventures. During my stay, I was warmly welcomed by Mr. Smith, the owner, who provided excellent local tips and made my experience unforgettable.
We had an amazing time. Saw so many sea turtles, fish, coral and even a sea horse! Staff were very friendly and helpful. We went back on a Friday again because we enjoyed it so much. The Friday night happy hour was awesome. $5 drinks, wings, and Conch fritters. Highly recommend!
Brad B — Google review
We ate here and went snorkeling. This was very adventurous, we saw sea turtles, many coral reefs and lots of tropical fish here. The food was good, service excellent, I had an amazing fresh mango and rum drink here. Was a great experience.
C. M — Google review
We visited Paradise Cove Beach Resort near Freeport, Bahamas, where Dead Man’s Reef is located, and it was an amazing experience. We took a taxi from Freeport, about a 30-minute drive, and the resort was spectacular. The entrance fee was reasonable, and we had booked everything in advance. We paid $8 for a locker and rented floating belts that made snorkeling easier, especially for longer distances. The manager gave us a great explanation about where to snorkel, how to watch the waves, and what to expect. It was low tide, so the space between us and the corals was small, which made it a bit challenging, but we were careful not to touch the coral. We saw tons of fish in all sizes, and even sea turtles — it was absolutely beautiful! There were quite a few jellyfish (aguas vivas) on the other side of the rocks, like a swarm, but we managed to avoid them and get back safely. We also rented three lounge chairs and two umbrellas, but honestly, we spent so much time snorkeling that we barely used them. There’s a nice shaded restaurant area with benches and tables where we relaxed afterward. The family that runs the resort is extremely kind — the mother or grandmother manages the souvenir shop and was very friendly. We bought a few souvenirs and grabbed some food; the restaurant menu wasn’t very exciting, but it was good enough for a quick meal after snorkeling. Overall, it was a five-star experience — beautiful reef, great staff, and an unforgettable snorkeling adventure!
Daniel S — Google review
It's a 30 minute drive to this reef from the cruise port. The artificial reef here is wonderful.... variety of fish and clarity of water is unique. I saw a huge sea turtle at the deeper area of reef and it was all swimmable. Very few people there which was ideal. Grilled Conch was actually a soup and was not plentiful ... but filled the belly.
Jessica C — Google review
What a great place, we had the best time ever. I had emailed Barry before we left on our cruise and he responded quickly. With the way the weather was on this cruise I waited until the night before and booked which was an easy process. Our driver was fantastic with alot of information and history of the island. We were so pleased with Paradise cove and all the staff, everyone was awesome. The snorkeling was Great, all the different sea life and a vast area to swim and see the beauty of the ocean. And the Conch fritters are a must to get, they were good perfectly with a very flavorful dipping sauce. Barry the owner was on site, he is very friendly and knowledgeable about the are. There are two houses right on the beach that you can rent which look like amazing getaways. I'll be looking forward to returning and possibly staying and enjoying more of this gorgeous place...
Brian — Google review
Awesome snorkeling! We left the hotel at Dolphin Cove and made the drive to Paradise Cove. The drive was a little long and you are not driving through a very beautiful part of the Bahamas, so we started questioning our choices. When we arrived, we also thought why the heck did we drive all this way for this! The reviews made it sound like it was more of a resort experience and that was not exactly the case. It's a small spot where you can rent equipment, there's a gift shop and a snack bar with burgers and things. It was really windy and we debated on going in the water but we were already there and we had our own snorkel gear so we figured what the hell, let's check it out. (If you bring your own gear it's only $7 to access the area). We attended a brief safety class to make sure we and the reefs, were safe and then we were on our own to snorkel. You first enter a very shallow area that you can walk through to get to the slightly deeper water. It was low tide when we were there and it was shallow pretty far out. (I recommend going during high tide). Once you get pass the bouys there are reef balls that they've put in the water and a ton of life swimming around them. We saw lots of reef fish and one of the biggest mutton snappers I've ever seen snorkeling! Pass that area you get into a grassy section where you're likely to see turtles! We saw one and it was a very cool experience (see the video I posted). Pass the grassy area, the scene changes again and you start to get into more and more corals and it gets deeper and deeper. Once you reach the big rocks you're at deadmans reef and the life just explodes! Tons of fish, tons of beautiful coral and the temperature drastically drops. If you're staying in Freeport and want to snorkel, I highly recommend checking Paradise Cove out. It's a bit of a hike but it's worth it!
Danielle R — Google review
We dud a day trip here kadt year and met the owner Barry and his staff. We enjoyed ourselves so much that we decided to go back this year and stay in one of the villas!! We had an amazing time. Everyone was so kind and accommodating! They made us feel like we were an extension of their family! I highly recommend going for a day trip or renting the villa and staying for a few days! I know we will return!!
Holly M — Google review
This place is amazing! They pick you up and drop you off at the cruise port and bring you to their location where you can rent snorkeling gear and explore the beautiful cove. The staff were gracious hosts and on top of their game! The water was beautiful and clean. There were a ton of marine animals to see including sea turtles. This is a 3rd generation establishment, none of the cost paid goes to the cruise company, you are directly supporting locals who very clearly love what they do. Best part of our trip!

Nestled on the northern tip of Grand Bahama Island, Lucaya Beach is a picturesque stretch of white sandy shores and crystal blue waters. The beach offers stunning views and breathtaking sunsets, making it an ideal spot for a romantic evening or a fun-filled afternoon. Visitors can enjoy sunbathing, swimming, and water sports like snorkeling in the pristine waters.
One of the cleanest beach. Not so much water activities and better to keep it that way. Good place to enjoy sunrise

Small quaint beach that’s free. Water was so clear and beautiful. It’s a bit of a long walk from the main road to get to the beach. There were 3-4 people there trying selling conch shells/ drinks, jewelry, chair rentals, and other things. A guy kept trying to get us to buy drinks but it was not as touristy as some other beaches.
Jade A — Google review
My husband and I got a day pass so we could go to the beach here. We were on a cruise and when we went to get a taxi, this beach was recommended as being more secure than the one we really wanted to go to. It is a very nice beach and the food and drinks served on the beach were magnificent. We got the conch fritters and they were delicious. They gave us some many, we could not eat them all. The chairs were quite comfortable and the water was beautiful. We only had a few hours here but really enjoyed those few hours. The area surrounding the beach looked pretty empty for the most part. We had been here in 2015 and hardly recognized the general area. A little research revealed that is about to be redeveloped after hurricane damage.
Lucille T — Google review
Beautiful beach. The beach was mostly empty. The surrounding scenery was beautiful and we had a great time here. The port Lucaya marketplace is nearby, with plenty of restaurants and souvenir shops.

Best beach on the island! Resort property with free beach access. A taxi/shuttle from the cruise port is $20 round trip. Chairs and an umbrella on the beach are $10 a person. Food and drinks are reasonably priced as well. Clean bathrooms. Awesome spot.

Serene and safe beach! It was as pure as can be too. Tranquil and translucent water with no waves. Glad to see it's doing well after the hurricane. My family had a wonderful time here. We got a deal on the chairs and wi-fi. They also have beer and coconuts.

Beautiful beach that I had the pleasure to enjoy for 10 days. Very secluded, not too many people on it every day. There are some locals who sell jet ski experiences or parasailing and banana boats. Very chilled out lovely spot but definitely bring an umbrella to keep the sun at bay! You will also have locals offer to sell you cold water or beers, it's great! Beautiful clear water, I'd love to stay here forever!

Peterson Cay National Park is a hidden gem located just a mile off the southern coast of Grand Bahama. This small, rocky island boasts a modest beach and vibrant coral reefs, making it an ideal spot for diving and snorkeling enthusiasts. Accessible only by boat, visitors can explore its stunning underwater world teeming with marine life like turtles and colorful fish. The clear waters around Barbary Beach are perfect for novice swimmers, although it's important to note that facilities are limited on the island.
Beautiful reefs and crystal-clear water full of sea life. We had a great time here with the family snorkeling and hanging out on the secluded beach. I would return the next time we are in the area. Be careful about the shallow waters and use charts.
Jason — Google review
It's about a mile off coast, with great snorkeling around a little island. Due to dredging happening nearby for the new carnival cruise terminal, water visibility is about 5 feet, and will probably kill the coral before too long. See it while you can, there's still some amazing coral and life to see there. If you arrive during high tide there is a little more to see.

ABSOLUTELY STUNNING, A MUST SEE IF IT'S YOUR FIRST TIME TO THE BAHAMAS. Have a tour guide from the dock at Lucayan Market take you out here if you can. There's beautiful turtles to swim with and a colorful reef to see.

Hard to find a nicer spot in the Bahamas. Well, everyplace in the Bahamas is nice, but Peterson Cay is a nice little anchorage. Good beach, clear water, lots of sea life and birds on the Cay itself. Plus it's only a short haul from Lucaya.

Beautiful BEAUTIFUL place. Went here for a cookout and some snorkeling. Very rocky so you definitely need water shoes or your fresh manicure will be done for!

We kyaked to and snorkeled around Peterson Cay. It was beautiful, the island itself is very small; perhaps one or two acres.

Beautiful small cay off the coast. Can kayak to it, but it takes a while. Nicer to take a boat!

Grand Bahama is a hidden gem in the Caribbean that's currently undergoing a renaissance, drawing travelers to its shores. Just 55 miles off the coast of Florida, this island offers an array of experiences, from culinary delights at places like Flying Fish to immersing oneself in the island's captivating sounds. With expanded flight options from Miami, it's easier than ever to visit this 530-square-mile paradise.
Back in 2017 we made a tip to Grand Bahamas to cover the Air Show. Great trip, great folks, and great Island. More fun in the Bahamas. We did take time to visit a brewery , see the beautiful beaches , and eat lots of great food.

Beautiful beaches, very gracious staff, nice hotels. Went in the off-season just before Christmas, the place was nearly deserted and we had it all to ourselves. One of the most relaxing trips I can remember in 2013

I absolutely love Nassau Bahamas. In part because of my local connections there. It's a different experience when you can experience Nassau from a locals perspective. It is a beautiful place with friendly locals and food that I crave until I get to it again

A lot of it was destroyed in a hurricane a few years ago. Rebuild seems slow. A lot of destruction, many places are closed. The scenery is of course still gorgeous but there s not much to do.

What a beautiful place to visit! We had some poor weather and still had an amazing trip. The island is trying to recover from the big hurricane, but it was a blast and I recommend anyone going!

Best vacation. Beautiful people wonderful weather. The people are hurting because of the government, but they do not let it effect their attitude. The food was wonderful. I can't wait to go back.

It's a nice little Cruise. We went snorkeling, the waters were very rough I had to get out. Recommended for strong swimmers. And we went to see the dolphins and we had fun.

Grand Bahama the second city, this has been my home since 1998. It has always been a quite island, within the different community's you will find and encounter happy people, friendly people, laid back but hard working people. Grand Bahama from Mcclean Town to West End,Hawksbill to Mathers Town, Back-a-town to Fortune Point everyone is very much family oriented. Hurricane Dorian ravaged through the island of Grand Bahama and one thing is for certain the people are persistent and very much dedicated to restoring their island. Much help is still needed. Some photos of the Eastern End of the island.

The family-friendly beach features clear waters, lush greenery, a water amusement park, several bars and restaurants, as well as comfortable hotels.
We were on a cruise and spent the day here. Very laid back. Beautiful scenery. Great pool area and an awesome beach with white sand and crystal clear water! The bar and restaurant was hopping, the service there was top notch!

Always love going. Most years The beach is beautiful and perfectly raked. The beach needed some raking this year and it seemed they couldn't keep it clear. The service is always wonderful, great people! Rooms need some maintenance but were clean and comfortable. The location is quiet and beautiful! Fun and friendly. Great place for families and relaxation!

Taino Beach Resort offers a fantastic beachfront location with beautiful sand and clear water. The pool area, especially the lazy river and waterslide, was a highlight for our family. Staff were generally friendly and helpful. Our condo was spacious and well-equipped. The ferry to Port Lucaya was convenient. While some areas show a little wear, the overall experience was positive, offering great beach and pool fun for a relaxing vacation. We'd consider returning!
Moses G — Google review
You can make up in other areas if the service is good. No cleaning of rooms, I called and asked for towels, and got them 2 days later....you can do better. Reading some of the other reviews, it sounds like some of the rooms are renovated. We were not lucky enough to get.one of those. It is pretty bad when the couch is more comfortable then the bed You can do better!
Jeanine K — Google review
We were in one of the rooms that hasn't been upgraded yet so it's ugly. However, we also know that it's just a place to store our stuff as we enjoy the HUGE pool and absolutely GORGEOUS private beach at Taino. I'm learning what to bring year after year. Definitely TOWELS, salt/pepper, bug spray for tours, and possibly an extra blanket because the a/c is COLD! 👍 There isn't any wifi in the rooms, but we got good cell service. You definitely should not skip the grocery store run to get things like water, bread and lunch meat...snack stuff. You can also order Marco's Pizza 😋 Resort is mainly adults. You'll LOVE the cave bar located in the center of the pool, plus the HUGE water slide! Resort has ice machines on every floor and a laundry mat. There's also lots to do on the island, but I prefer to relax by the pool or beach, after all I am on vacation. 🏖️ Anyways, staff is always friendly and helpful, and we look forward to our new room next year!

Took a taxi from Margaritaville Cruise to here that was around 25min and cost $25 pp round trip. The resort cost $33 pp and included a beautiful pool with waterslide and restaurant by the sand. Also had free wifi which was great since we didnt have serive. Private beach access with chairs and classic umbrellas. The beach was clean and the water was warm and calm. Say a stingray and some fish. Overall for the price not too bad for a cruise stop. Better than the excursion price offered.

Tanio Beach was a beautiful resort. The condos were very nice as well and had a small Jacuzzi in the studios. The whole resort smelled clean like pine sol and the staff was so friendly. They have a lazy pool and fun slide. I will definitely plan to visit in future 😄

Grand Bahama is a renowned island in The Bahamas, known for its historical significance as a favorite spot for famous pirates. Today, it's a popular weekend getaway with sun-drenched beaches and luscious pine forests covering its 530 square miles of relatively smooth land. The island offers white sand beaches all around. Grand Bahama Scuba is an excellent diving operation run by Fred & Melinda, who provide a laid-back and friendly experience.
We did a dive with them in May. Scheduling our dive was easy and simple. The crew were friendly and smiling the whole time. You can tell they love what they do! I had emailed them prior to flying to the Bahamas to asks a few questions and they were always quick the respond. The owners are so sweet. They genuinely want thier guest to have a good and safe time in the water!
Nichole M — Google review
If you are new to scuba or it has been a long time since you dove I would not recommend this shop. If you are comfortable with your navigation skills and just need a boat ride and a tank of air then this is a great shop for you. We dove 3 days with this shop and they never introduced themselves to us or anyone else diving with them. We found this at odds with how friendly the rest of the island was. The dive brief was, brief. It is not a toured dive like you would experience with most other shops which is why you need to be comfortable with your navigation. This is not a bad thing, just something that would have been nice to know before getting into the water. With this being their dive experience we were also shocked they did not ask if everyone had a compass or computer that would navigate before sending them on their way. It seemed like the shop existed primarily to support the owners own diving hobby. However, if you can do a cave dive with Shamie, I HIGHLY recommend. He does a fantastic job going over the geology and history of the island teaching you about the cave systems. Our best dive experience on this trip was the cave dive.

Fred and Melinda, and their amazing crew, were great! Absolutely helpful and accommodating all of our needs. Our entire family of 5 left with open water diving certifications. They are an awesome pair! Loved the dives! Great photos and just a great experience. Cheers to Chesla for her patience with our youngest!

Incredible experience diving with Justin, Chessa and Melinda. Fred is extremely knowledgeable, and even though he couldn't dive with us he imparted lots of practice-changing evidence based instruction which made me a better, safer diver I feel so much better after each dive. I highly recommend Grand Bahama Scuba to anyone who's looking to learn how to dive, or advance their knowledge and become a better diver. Plan ahead, check out their website, and EMAIL when you're to book. They'll do their best to fit you in if they can (I got lucky) but it's best to book in advance so that you won't be disappointed. Also, I have to add that I have felt safer in Grand Bahama than I did in Paris. The local people here have been nothing but warm, kind, and accommodating.

Amazing Experience. Melinda was very easy to work with to schedule the Dive in a Day for our trip. Of course we were hooked after our dive and they made the process of my family getting certified during the rest of our vacation enjoyable. Each dive was amazing, of course the sharks made the day when they showed up throughout dives but the beautiful coral formations were hard to top. We even got to see a loggerhead turtle swim by on our first dive. Fred has a wealth of knowledge of each dive site and the marine life which adds so much to the experience.

Fred and Melinda run an outstanding outfit. Very safe, friendly and wonderful dive sites with wrecks, sharks and innumerable other fishes and corals. Over many years, I’ve dived throughout the Indo pacific, Middle East and Africa and this has to be up there with the best. Great for individuals and families, they cater for all levels and are very knowledgable about the local environment , safety aspects, customs, weather…all you could wish for really!
Rob S — Google review
Fred and Melinda were awesome instructors for my first diving trip! They provided thorough instruction and helped me feel confident with my skills in the pool before heading out to open water. They’re great instructors and also just really fun and genuine people to talk to! We started in the pool learning the basics of breathing, floating, equalizing, releasing water from goggles, and neutral buoyancy. After 20-30 minutes we felt confident in handling the basic steps and took a ride on the boat out to a 12ft deep spot. We saw beautiful fish swimming around the reefs and clear water, and the whole experience was truly mesmerizing! As a first time diver, I felt safe through the whole experience. I would have scheduled additional dives for becoming certified, but I sadly did not have enough time left in my schedule for the week. Next trip I’ll make sure to plan ahead for more dives with them. Highly recommend booking with Fred and Melinda!!

Peterson Beach, located in the Bahamas, is a small national park island covering only 0.6 hectares and situated less than two kilometers from the main island's coast. Established in 1968, this serene escape is often referred to as "Barbary Beach" by locals. Accessible through dirt roads or by paddling with an inflatable boat or kayak, it offers a secluded spot for activities like skinny dipping and diving.
Great sandbar and reef for diving or hanging out and watching the wildlife both above and below the water. We visited the island a few times and never saw another soul, it was tranquil.
Jason — Google review
This is a good spot if you want to go skinny dipping, as not many people come here. Most of the locals call the whole beach "Barbary Beach", rather than calling this end Peterson Beach. There are several dirt roads that give beach access from the coast road. If you have an inflatable or portable boat or kayak you can also paddle out to Peterson's Cay National Park from here
