I went there on new year eve. It was breathtaking, beautiful and clean. It is a short walk from the car park and there is even a lookout spot which gives amazing views of the place. A must visit whenever near the lakes entrance.

Beautiful, endless beach! The best place to collect some shells. No lifeguards and big waves, not good for swimming.

Hidden cove! If you want a beautiful beach with not as many people, this is the place. Amazing sunset location

My favourite part of the world! Beautiful beach, lots of wildlife around, friendly people and a picture perfect beach which is never overcrowded, we have seen dolphins on numerous occasions, kangaroos, echidna, possums, and lots of lizards. Slow down and take ya time to unwind, smell the fresh air and feel life

As shared with the name, insanely long beach. You can enter more or less every 100m through the campsites. It has a small ship wreck in the middle.

A great camping place Ninety Mile Beach is safe with beautiful super waves for surfing, and sandy beach lovely picnic venue beautiful nature to spend time.

This is one of the most natural and unspoilt beaches, ideal for beach fishing and swimming to walking, whale and dolphin-spotting Some free camp area - be sure to bring lots of water and portable toilet, basic camping facilities within the park at Emu Bight which is about 30-40 mins drive, and Lakes Entrance accomdation are about 1-2 hrs drive.

The beauty is just serene. Strong, cold winds hits the waves and the clean, vivid blur waters hits the shoreline. Had been there with family, the place is beautiful. 😊😊 Took a long to reach, 3 hours from Melbourne. driving through beautiful landscapes on both sides of roads. There’s no road at a point, near the paradise beach area, where road ends and no point of going far. May be there’s a walkway, not sure. Camping area need to be booked before, it was full because of the holiday season. Overall it was a good place to spend time with family. PS: it is more like a camping area, no food outlets nearby ( around a km away) Bring own like. Not even much local eatery or trucks. Just a few.

Nature & Wildlife Areas
Wilsons Promontory National Park is a breathtaking gem located at the southernmost tip of mainland Australia, making it a must-visit destination in Gippsland. This expansive 50,000-hectare reserve boasts stunning natural beauty with its rugged coastline, granite mountains, and diverse wildlife. Outdoor enthusiasts can immerse themselves in various activities such as hiking along scenic trails or camping under the stars.
Spent two days here exploring as many of the hiking trails as we possibly could within the time period and absolutely need to come back and do more. The scenery alters from beach, to rainforest to open grasslands and there is so much wildlife to see. Make sure you have a good set of hiking boots and bring food and water for your day each day as you won't find much there otherwise. It is a good half hour drive from the entry gate into the main Tidal River center, but there are plenty of places to stop and explore along the way as well. An amazing area which will have incredibly strong memories for a long time. The whole area is simply breathtaking.

Definitely one of the best landscapes in Victoria. Wilsons Prom has it all - even the journey to get there is beautiful. I camped at Tidal River (and got to see so many meteors 🥹), wandered around the beaches, and hiked up Mt Oberon. Already missing this place and can’t wait to go back!
Sonia D — Google review
I came for the nature, and left rejuvenated. Wilsons Prom is lovely and unfolds in layers - beaches that hum with coastal wind, forest trails and granite boulders. Every terrain shift felt like a new rhythm; dry bushland giving way to rainforest gullies, then unveiling into turquoise coves and squeaky white sand. Tidal River was grounding with its reflective pools, orange-tinged rocks and the kind of silence that makes you listen differently. Sealers Cove was a lush journey worth every step. And Squeaky Beach was pure sensory joy! The sand "squeaks" with every step, and the surf catches the light like it's inviting you in. I enjoyed watching the shorebirds pace the wet sand, chirping and circling with intent. They appeared to be part of the rhythm. This wasn't just a physical visit; it was a sensory and emotive experience of textures, contrasts and moods. For those exploring further, sights like Mount Oberon, Whisky Bay and Little Waterloo Bay offer even more layers of terrain and perspectives.

Wilsons Promontory National Park: An Absolute Must-Visit for the Wild at Heart! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 If you're looking for the ultimate destination for dramatic coastal scenery and abundant native wildlife in Victoria, Wilsons Prom is an absolute must-visit. This place truly transports you to another level of natural beauty. The coastal walks are monumental. As you can see in my photo, the dramatic, moody skies only add to the spectacle of the wide, sandy beaches. It’s perfect for reflection, especially with the incredible light playing off the ocean. But what really stood out was the unique geology and the wildlife! Stumbling upon the lichen-covered granite boulders was like finding abstract art in nature. The striking orange colour of the lichen against the dark stone is pure Australian drama, highlighting the raw, rugged environment here. And of course, the accessible wildlife is a huge bonus! Keep your eyes peeled for the Prom’s most lovable resident, the Wombat. Getting a glimpse of these little tanks grazing in the low light is pure magic and a reminder of the unspoiled nature of the park. I can't recommend it highly enough, and I’ll definitely be back!
Christine's P — Google review
The day I went with a mate was pretty cold, wet and cloudy. Wanted to go to South Point, but the road was closed. Went to Mt Oberon, though, and loved that. Hiked (more walked) to the top and saw the coastline occasionally when the clouds thinned out. Was still amazing despite the wet day and really not that difficult of a hike, took us an hour to get to the top from the car park.
SnazzoBazzo — Google review
Scenery is beautiful, infrastructure and information below par. No maps or posted info re track closures. 3 staff sitting at computers advising visitors to download QR codes for info .. would be doable WITH internet connection 😕 so fairly unhelpful really .. number of visitors in the car park trying to help each other out. Most pretty frustrated with the lack of support or direction. Can I suggest a consult with Tasmania Park Services, they're proactive, visitors are welcome and well supported, ahead all the way.
Lisa W — Google review
Absolutely stunning place — one of the most beautiful spots in Victoria! The beaches are crystal clear, the hikes are super scenic, and there’s wildlife everywhere (we saw wombats, wallabies and emus up close). Mount Oberon lookout is 100% worth the climb for the views, and Squeaky Beach really does squeak when you walk on it. The park is clean, well-maintained and perfect for hiking, camping or just a chill day trip. Make sure to pack layers and snacks — the weather changes fast. Can’t wait to come back! 🌿🏖️
Evelyn — Google review
Vast and breathtakingly beautiful vistas, and wildlife, everywhere. Numerous walking and hiking trails ranging from an easy boardwalk stroll to several overnight hiking trails with base camps. Clean and tidy toilets and hot water showers. There is a coin operated laundry, free barbecues and camp kitchens. Everything is super well organised and managed. Great visitor centre with knowledgeable staff and rangers in attendance 365 days a year. The little general store serves a mean “Promburger”. There are several cabins and units as well as 484 campsites, often with access to the drinking water. Many spots are suitable for big rigs and large caravans, and 20 sites also have access to the power.

Squeaky Beach, located at Wilsons Promontory in Victoria, is a hidden gem for nature enthusiasts. The beach boasts pristine white sand and clear waters that invite visitors to take a dip. What makes Squeaky Beach unique is the sand that actually squeaks beneath your feet as you walk, adding a playful element to the beach experience.
Stunning white beach that has a very specific squeaky sound when you walk through the dry loose sand. Initially walking close to the water we wondered what the excitement was about, but then as we passed through the dry sand to make our way onto a further track, we got to experience the sound effects. Looks like a wonderful beach for a picnic, and swimming, but with the named Picnic Bay just beyond, we felt that we actually had to stop and eat there instead! Great family beach.
Chris B — Google review
Great beach with the family! Even when it is a windy day! Our girls loved playing in the river and around the boulders! We spend 3 hours down at the beach and found a sheltered spot to have lunch that we brought along!
Mjr80ooo — Google review
The beach sand really gave the squeaky sound and the place is good for kids to play around, basic amenities are available, just few meter (300) walk from the car park and is easily accessible. A nice place to relax and there were few people surfing, the rocky structure was here as well. A must place to visit in the Wilson Prom
Sukirtha T — Google review
Had fun here in early April recently. It squeaks! Was here previously 40 years ago. Fun and enjoyable then and still fun and enjoyable this time.
Google L — Google review
The beach is not squeaky, been here twice and never heard a squeaky once. Maybe I am unlucky. Super long and open beach, very windy but has some amazing rock and boulder formations, especially far left and right. You can also boulder here however keep in mind the tide times, as a lot of climbs will be unavailable during high tide.
Em B — Google review
It wasn't squeaky when I visited. Maybe because it rained before this? But after that, even the dry part of the sand did not make any sound. It was beautiful however.
Sonny — Google review
Squeaky Beach is unreal! The sand actually squeaks when you walk on it — it feels like something out of a movie. The water is crystal clear, perfect for a dip after hiking or exploring the Prom. The huge granite boulders are great for photos, and the view from the lookout is amazing. It’s a bit of a walk from the car park, but totally worth it. Bring snacks, sunscreen, and maybe a towel — you’ll want to stay longer than you planned! 🏝️☀️

Great Visit with Kids – Up Close with Koalas! 🐨🌿 We had a wonderful time visiting the Koala Conservation Reserve. It was very easy and convenient to navigate with kids, with well-marked paths and elevated boardwalks through the bushland. The kids especially enjoyed spotting koalas up close in their natural habitat—we even saw a couple of them moving around, which was a real bonus! The visitor centre had great, informative displays about local fauna and conservation efforts, which made the experience even more meaningful and educational. The whole reserve is peaceful, well maintained, and thoughtfully laid out. A perfect nature outing for families—relaxing, fun, and a great way to see these iconic animals in a respectful and natural setting. Highly recommend!

Koala Conservation Reserve provides a wealth of interesting information about koalas. The koalas live in very natural environments, mostly sleeping high up in the trees. Our group was very lucky to spot one resting on the timber, and we enjoyed a wonderful show featuring this super cute koala!

Visited yesterday and had a wonderful time! The staff were incredibly kind and even took the time to point out the koalas to us. It was heartwarming to see both the staff and volunteers so passionate about what they do. Unfortunately, we came a notice about a missing koala, which was really sad to hear but we were glad to see that many dedicated volunteers were out searching high and low for it…Hope that the lovely koala is found safe and sound! Highly recommend to visit!

Bushland Escape / Koala Conservation Reserve This reserve offers a fantastic glimpse into Australian wildlife. We saw koalas on the two elevated treetop boardwalks which wind through the eucalyptus forest. The koalas were generally still—moving a paw slightly, then going right back to sleep—but it was wonderful to see them in their natural habitat. Beyond the main koala viewing area, the rest of the trails are natural bushland, perfect for spotting more active animals like wallabies, echidnas, and various native birds. A fun fact for wildlife enthusiasts: if you're very lucky (or perhaps unlucky!), you might spot a Copperhead snake. They are endemic to Phillip Island and are venomous, but they are very shy and generally avoid people.
Lunga R — Google review
If you prefer a natural environment to see the wild animals, this is the place to go. No staff are there to control the Koala, so you need to pay 100% attention to spot them. Not too crowded compared to other zoo. Easy access with lots of free parking.

The beach is known for its natural beauty and offers various activities such as swimming, picnicking, and fishing from the jetty. Visitors can also explore the delightful town of Cowes with its cafes, restaurants, and boutique shops. We stayed until sunset! Great view! We went on the weekday and suggest to go there in sunset time and have a picnic. There are plenty of long chairs Some awesome nearby resto and food-shop. Plenty of parking. Saw 2 small rabbit, but beware not to feed the white birds, unfortunately I have seen a lady got bird poo on her head.

Cowes Beach is the heart of Phillip Island and the perfect place to slow down and enjoy the island vibes. With calm, family-friendly waters and a long stretch of golden sand, it’s ideal for swimming, a casual stroll, or just relaxing on a sunny day. If you’re after a bit of fun and adrenaline on Phillip Island, pier jumping at Cowes is a must! The foreshore is lively yet laid-back, with cafés, bars, and restaurants just a few steps away making it easy to grab a drink or bite after a swim.

Superb views from the top. This is one of the best beach ⛱️ where all facilities are available. All kind of restaurants, cafe, hotels, ice cream parlors are within the vicinity of beach area. Very nearby to the local bus station. Good seating arrangement at Public places. Sufficient parking available at the walking distance from the beach. In totality it's a complete holiday destination for all.

"A Serene Spot for Relaxation" Cowes Beach is a charming and tranquil destination, conveniently located near vibrant cafes, restaurants, and holiday accommodations. I recently visited with friends and had a delightful time soaking in the peaceful ambiance. While it may not offer the thrill of an action-packed adventure, it’s perfect for capturing memorable photos, enjoying a leisurely stroll on the sand, and experiencing a bit of fun. Amenities: The beach is equipped with essential facilities, including toilets and showers, ensuring a comfortable visit. You can enjoy the gentle waves, though during our last visit, the water quality was less inviting, with a noticeable smell and some filth, which deterred us from entering. Final Thoughts: Cowes Beach truly shines during golden hours—whether it’s early morning or sunset—offering a picturesque and serene setting to unwind and appreciate nature. A beautiful spot worth visiting for those seeking a peaceful coastal escape.

A stunning location for a picnic or a walk along the coast while admiring the view. Close to the shops so there's plenty of eateries to get takeaway and eat by the sea.

Lovely beach during the summer! Water is always nice and cold, well worth it during 35+ degree weather! If you are after a little bit of a quieter area, the left side of the pier has a difference beach entrance with more car parking. Seems a little less crowded than the opposite side. Water and waves are calm, only thing to look out for is seaweed in the water otherwise its really nice!

The beach is sheltered and sandy, making it perfect for leisurely walks, family picnics, and swimming in the clear waters. Located just a 12-minute drive from the Nobbies car park, this lesser-known gem offers a serene escape from the crowds.
This one of the top beaches of all time. Sheltered - no waves. Shallow - no drowning kiddos. Sandy - butt crack rash. It's a real beach. I enjoyed the water, it was well wet.

Very calm and pretty beach. Quite a few people went for fishing at the Rocks. Great place for kids to play and swim as the water is a lot more calmed. Some told me they spot whales in the water! There's a public toilet near the parking area.

Beautiful beach with red rocks. Have parking.
Sharifah I — Google review
This is a terrific beach for families with older children as they can play on the rocks or swim in the sea, which is generally rougher and deeper than the beaches on the northern and eastern side of Philip Island. There is a long strip of sand - yellow rather than white - but not much shelter so take an umbrella if it's sunny. Depending on the tide, you'll have a lot of sand, or not much, so it pays to check before you come. Amenities are minimal. A small toilet block and BBQ, and limited parking, but at least you don't have to pay to park. It is only 3.5 km from Cowes, but it feels a world away in vibe, esp. during holiday seasons when Cowes is jam packed and you walk faster than cars drive down the main strip. But it's the rocks that are the main draw. Apparently, rocks show red when they contain hematite, an iron oxide similar to rust. I'm not a mineralogist, so I'll take that as given, but whatever causes it, the faded red is more than skin deep - the names and initials carelessly carved into them shows that - and it is uncommon so grabs the eye. There are not many of the rocks, really, it's just a little spit maybe 100m all told when the tide is out. But rocks are rocks and you can't help but want to climb them, no matter your age, it's something primal. Unlike the typically sharper rocks of Western Port Bay, these are smoother - and slipperier - so take care scrambling over them, esp. when they are wet. Red Rock beach is a lovely spot to relax when the weather is nice, and an easy walk when its not, just far enough out of Cowes to make it a trip, but it's a trip worth taking.

Inverloch Surf Beach is a popular destination with a variety of beaches to explore. Betka Beach is known for its funky rock formations and appeals to both surfers and families. Quarry Beach boasts colorful rocks, while Tip Beach is favored by surfers and features sand dunes for kids to enjoy. Visitors can also witness the wreck of the Amazon, which has been exposed due to high tides and storms after 161 years.
It is a far cry from its glory heyday, but our family has been coming there since the 50s and we still love it. There was a lovely slow gradient from the dunes down to the water and very manageable waves. From babies to golden oldies, all were comfortable and loving the water. All our crew attending were able to catch little breakers non-stop and the younger of us were taking them all the way into shore on their boogie boards. The Surf Life Saving Club were monitoring very actively between the flags and later in the day, ran some training exercises to keep sharp. It is always recommended, but please be mindful of the delicate nature of the dunes as they have been eroding from natural snad moving patterns, and are susceptible to damage.

Lovely beach. Spent a whole afternoon there on a long weekend. Lots of people and families with kids. Nice place to chill out with fam/friends/solo. Yes its called a surf beach but the waves were gentle enough for non-surfers, I was able to swim nicely for hours Such a nice summer vibe. Livesaving club was there. Loved it. The tide does come in so put your rugs and beach huts at the very back otherwise you will be forced to move

Pillar Point Lookout offers an unforgettable hiking experience that combines stunning coastal views with the tranquility of nature. This relatively easy trail is perfect for families, as even young children can manage the first stretch without much trouble.
Its a good hike to this point. The hike is easy to medium. The rock climbing part is a bit challenging as there few places in the rock that are slippery. The wind is crazy there and if its busy, you may need to wait for your turn.

Wonderful experience. I recommend to everyone that can stand a few climbs either from Squeaky beach or either from Tifal River.
Christophe N — Google review
It's a spectacular view and the hike is not too bad and should be achievable by anyone with a normal amount of stamina. A little bit of scrambling on the big rock at the end for best views.
Chiel ( — Google review
Breathtaking views at anytime of the day, but the best is always at sunrise and sunset. Relatively easy track to get to the lookout, only a small effort is needed to climb up to the boulder for a more stunning view at the end of the track. The place is covered by dry woodland, you can find interesting plants along the track. You can even spot kangaroos in the early morning. Great alternative for a 360° view after Mount Oberon. You can spot Skull Island from the lookout.

Woolamai Surf Beach, located at Cape Woolamai on Phillip Island, is known for its vast stretch of golden sand and some of the best beach breaks in Victoria. While the waters are patrolled by the Woolamai Surf Lifesaving Club during summer, swimming can be dangerous due to powerful rips.

Paradise Beach Campground offers a decent camping experience with its own fireplace and beach access path. The campground provides access to the beach while also protecting the sensitive coastal vegetation. The sites are not very level, but campers can make it work by placing tents and camper vans towards the edges. Toilet facilities are available, although they may not be the nicest. It's recommended to arrive early as there are no bookings required for the small sites.
This is a really beautiful campground. The beach has the softest softest finest deep yellow sand. And it is just covered with seashells. There’s a lot of stairs and it is beautiful. The sunset over the side and back of the campground giving it a lot of light through as late as possible. It’s a very very beautiful place. Just like the name: Paradise!
Jacqueline K — Google review
Camped here over easter (29 March - 01 April 2024). Pretty decent ParksVic campsite, we were on sites 8-9-10, which has it's own fireplace and a beach access path next to it. A decent sized loose sand area in the middle of 8-9-10 and sites are not very level. But can make it happen by placing tents and camper vans towards the edges. Toilet facilities are OK, not the nicest we've seen, but it's Parks long drops, you kinda know what to expect. Nearest town: Goldenbeach: also nothing special but provides all essentials (bacon and egg roll is OK, coffee meh). Bring everything yourself. The beach at Paradise Beach is pretty much un-swimmable. Big ocean swell, steep drop, rips etc. We went to Seaspray (30km-ocean beach) and Loch Sport (33km-lakes beach) to swim. Which are pretty decent drives away. We didn't get bothered by mosquitos or sand flies at this campsite. Perhaps the time of the year??
Thijs B — Google review
The campground is right off the road, and some spots you look into people's front yards. Street lights through the trees so never in true darkness. Sites, especially the ones for tent only are very hilly, and would not be comfortable to sleep in, sandy and the only one which could be useable site 9, was so muddy it was unuseable. We stayed in site 12 which was one of the flattest, in winter, but right on the road. They should either manually flatten the sites or make it a picnic or communal area only. The locals in the morning walked through and where very lovely and chatty. There is a shipwreck 6kms down the road. It's almost gone, and does not look like the sign pictures at all.
Betheny P — Google review
Paradise beach is so beautiful beach. It is good for surfers but not good for swimming. There are many jellyfishes which are top 10 most dangerous jellyfishes in the world. Better not to walk barefoot.
Dr. V — Google review
It is NOT a joke when people here warned about mosquitos. The mosquitos attack you in swarms, you won’t be able to leave your tent without getting bitten 10 spots. Apart from that the 90 miles beach is a 2 mins walk from the campground and was an excellent place for sunrise.
Natalie — Google review
Nice access to the beach but would strongly discourage tenting. The sites are on slopes, pitted or muddy. Thin strip of bush between north sites and road. Does have a small shelter and rainwater collection.

The soft golden sand invites leisurely strolls along the water's edge while gentle waves provide a soothing soundtrack.
Great, cosy beach. Calm, swimming area to the right. At load tide you can walk around the point to see what remains of the SS Speke. The beach walk is very rocky and can be slow going. The paths are easier but if you want to get close to the shipwreck it is a fairly steep climb down and up.
Kerry H — Google review
Stunning beach at low tide with so many black rock rock pools to explore. Decent uphill hike over the rocks and cliffs to get to the shipwreck. Walk left along the man made path and up the cliffs to see the shipwreck. Not recommended for anyone with accessibility issues including older or younger visitors as there is a steep descent from a wooden staircase, the rocks are slippery and the path to the shipwreck is very steep and narrow. Check the tides on the weather app before visiting.
Jane L — Google review
I found this beach in an article about dog friendly places in the area, this is not a dog friendly beach, the article was wrong but a very pretty & quiet one that leads to a shipwreck, we followed the grassy path to it but didn't go all the way down because it didn't look safe, will probably come back in summer.

Nice and calm beach. The walk to the reck of SS Speke is worth considering. Rocky and slow to walk beach.

Lovely little bay, and at low tide you can walk (carefully) over the rocks at either side for some views that are well worth the trouble. Facing out to the ocean, if you head right there is a small trail that makes footing a little easier. To the left is trickier, but Not was able to (did I mention carefully) get over most of the rocks, but a steep, dirt trail was a little beyond me.

First time ever at the cleanest beach — clear seawater and cleanest sand, truly breathtaking. I also saw a sea rock pool for the first time; it was stunning beyond words. But the sharp sea rocks were risky — not safe to walk on. I don’t recommend walking on the reef; better to enjoy this beautiful marine area from a distance and respect the marine environment. For those seeking surf, local surfers flock to this spot known for its breathtaking views and popular breaks.
This afternoon, I returned to Gippsland Lakes Coastal Park in Loch Sport and hiked along the Beacon Swamp Track to Red Bluff Campground and Lake Victoria. It was a very warm partly cloudy day with a top of 31 degrees. Before going into this hike, I knew it would be quite tough from an endurance perspective. The hot weather certainly added to the difficulty, though thankfully it did become more overcast and the light winds did help a bit. Beacon Swamp Track is about 3.1km and is a mixture of hard gravel and softer sandy soil. There's a few dips and curved parts but it's mostly a flat track. Still I wouldn't recommend driving a 2WD sedan as the terrain is far too loose in sections. Getting to the Red Bluff Campground, there were a couple of young men camping out. It's quite a spacious area with large shady trees and a portable toilet block. There's a couple of short walking tracks which gives you access to the Lake Victoria foreshore. I was fortunate enough to see a flock of pelicans and a few Black Swans all hudling together. There's also a short track which leads to Beacon Swamp before you get to Red Bluff. It's not exactly obvious besides the small gap in the fence but the swamp is quite incredible and vast. It's also very shallow with some of the outer edges dried up. Overall, despite how hot the weather was this afternoon, it was certainly worth the effort of seeing the Red Bluff Campground and Lake Victoria.

Great campground, drop toilets, fire pit and shelter, no bookings required. 3min walk to the Lake Victoria beach. We had the whole place to ourselves even though it was just after new years. Bit of a sandy road getting in on a 2 wheel drive, but doable.

Tip Beach, also known as Wilsons Promontory National Park, is a popular destination with several beautiful and enticing strips of sand such as Waratah Bay, Norman Bay, and the well-named Squeaky Beach. The area is characterized by its beauty but can be very windy. Visitors can take a short walk from the car park to reach the steep sand slope for some sledding. It's recommended to bring a large piece of cardboard for an enjoyable experience.
Short walk to a beautiful and rugged beach. Bush toilet and a couple of wooden platforms. Beach fishing but too rough for swimming and no flags/ patrol. Just beautiful!

Beautiful but very windy. A short walk from the car park. We went in search of the steep sand slope for some sledding. Be sure to bring a very big piece of cardboard to make it worthwhile. When facing the ocean, turn right and walk as far as you can and you'll find this steep slope.

Tip Beach lies at the southern end of Mallacoota, accessible via Nelson Drive past the Mallacoota Golf & Country Club. A small carpark and well-defined path lead to the sand dune and shoreline. The golden sand beach sprawls beneath a steep coastal dune—a key highlight. The dune’s gradient makes it a prime spot for sandboarding or sliding—especially popular with families and adventure-seeking kids . Evenings are ideal for visiting—by then the dune sands have cooled down, making sliding more comfortable and enjoyable. Tip Beach holds appeal for intermediate to experienced surfers when winds come from the WNW–NE. While not Mobacoota’s primary surf beach (that title goes to Bastion Point), it offers waves in certain wind conditions—but swimmers should beware of rips and check signage before entering. This stretch of coastline is part of Croajingolong National Park—a UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve offering epic views, coastal heathlands, and stretches of pristine wilderness. On clear days, Tip Beach opens out across turquoise water and rolling dunes, with cliff lines and native bush framing the vista . Birdwatchers will enjoy glimpses of various coastal species; Mallacoota Inlet is an Important Bird Area supporting native birds like oyster catchers, pelicans, sea eagles and more . Sandboarding & sliding: bring your board or DIY with cardboard for dune fun—especially after sunset when sands cool . Beach walks: wander along the quiet, expansive beach. It’s often secluded and peaceful. Surfing: catch a wave when wind direction suits (WNW–NE)—but be cautious due to unpredictable currents . Picnicking: stop at the nearby Golf & Country Club for food before or after your visit to Tip Beach . Peaceful, rarely crowded Limited shade or facilities Excellent sand dune for sliding/fun Steep slope may challenge younger children Scenic coastal environment, rare wildlife sightings No lifeguard on duty; caution advised Close to Mallacoota town amenities Access involves a short drive and walk. Tip Beach is a hidden gem for visitors to Mallacoota seeking something off the beaten track. It offers: A quiet, scenic beach experience framed by native bush and coastal dunes; Exciting dune-based activities for families; Opportunities for light surfing and excellent beach walks; and Connection to the broader natural wonders of Croajingolong National Park. While it lacks facilities, the nearby town (and lodge or caravan options) makes it easy to combine a visit with a bite, a swim, and some wilderness exploration. Visit in the evening to enjoy cooler sands and fewer visitors. Bring your own sliding board or simple cardboard for dune sliding fun. Observe safety signage if swimming or surfing—the water can be unpredictable. Combine a trip to Tip Beach with other nearby beaches like Bastion Point and Betka Beach via car or walking trails . Tip Beach is best for those looking for adventure and solitude in a natural coastal setting—simple, scenic, and full of character.

What a lovely beach, and clean too! You get to it over the footbridge from the Esplanade, which does mean that the beach is quieter as it’s too far for some folk It’s a bit early in the season a it was cooler today and a bit of a wind so a warmer jacket was needed by me but people were still in the water. There’s a good walk up or down the beach so you can certainly get your steps in. I can’t confirm that the cafe is open or what condition the toilets were in.

Natural places always have my heart in a chokehold it seems. Came back the evening before we were due to return back home just to see the blazing natural sunset. Restrooms are available in you require that information. (And showers/ drink taps). The place where the land, sea and sky met evoked a purely magical feeling of spiritual peace never before felt by myself.

We can view the skull island from this beach. If we go to the walk that goes above the beach, the view of the entire beach was splendid, few people were surfing and it was surrounded by rocks, plants and sea. All in one location. There were no-one when we visited, the walk is around 2 kms and in plains, we were able to witness Emu during the walk, it was like a wetland with so many bushes and trees around. The dunes were visible during the walk as well. There were several plain rocks in the beach. Overall the view was splendid
Sukirtha T — Google review
Magnificent wide, shallow beach - about 200m from the dunes to the water at low-tide. A fair walk (1.2km) from the car-park. Brisk and bracing in winter, in summer much more tolerable, with one HUGE proviso: the march flies! Never before have I experienced so many of these vicious buggers in one place. There are (at least) three different varieties, each bigger and more ferocious that the next. If there is no sea-breeze to dissuade them they will hound you all the way from the dunes to the water's edge (and at times, beyond!). Literally clouds of them, all baying for your blood - and often finding it. I once took a can of insect-spray and that slayed thousands of them, but for each one that fell, it seemed like another three turned up to take their place. So be warned and be prepared!
