Sushi restaurant
Japanese restaurant
Seafood restaurant
Sushi Katsuei is a popular sushi spot with locations in the West Village and Park Slope. It's known for its extensive menu offering a variety of rolls and high-end set menus. The restaurant prides itself on offering a diverse selection of fish, including uni from both Maine and Hokkaido, sourced from local Atlantic waters or the Tsukiji Market in Tokyo.
Sushi Katsuei is easily one of my favorite sushi spots in Brooklyn, and a standout in Park Slope. I came in for the omakase and was blown away by both the quality and value. Every piece was exceptionally fresh, and the chef clearly puts thought into the progression of flavors—from delicate to bold, each bite had its own moment. The cuts were clean and precise, and the rice was perfectly seasoned—not too vinegary or heavy, just right. What I really appreciated was the balance they strike: the space is minimalist and serene without feeling pretentious, and the staff is attentive but not overbearing. You feel welcome whether you're a sushi enthusiast or someone trying omakase for the first time. The price point is also very fair for the quality you’re getting. Compared to Manhattan spots with similar quality, this felt like a steal. It’s the kind of place where you leave feeling genuinely satisfied, not just with the food, but the whole experience. I’d recommend sitting at the bar if you can—the interaction with the chef adds a personal touch that makes the meal even more memorable. This is a place I’ll definitely return to again and again. Highly recommended.

‼️Outrageous‼️ I took myself out on a solo date here to see what it’s like since they were all these great reviews. Since I come to review restaurants on Google and I’m by myself I come just for business and to eat. I was greeted at the door, which was very nice and saw at least four or five chefs behind the sushi counter, ready to make sushi that looked extremely fresh, which was very pleasing. No odors came. Neither was the restaurant dirty, which was beautiful. It was a bit small but that’s fine. Once I was seated, I got my order in about 10 minutes after sitting. I ordered 6 rolls in total but in 2 separate orders. each order of sushi has six pieces and for my first three order it requested around $50. For $50 in this area or anywhere in New York City you can get a whole lot more sushi. I’ll give it the benefit of the doubt, thinking the quality would be way higher than any random sushi spot. Once my plate arrived, it looked quite small for $50. My whole three orders of sushi came out to being 18 rolls only. Any role was about slightly smaller than an inch in width and height. Of course I devoured them and was still hungry for more so I ordered three more. And that second order took a whole 20 minutes to come. The order was only a cucumber roll, avocado roll, and some other vegetable roll. So just rice, some seaweed and the vegetable… not crazy about that. In total, I had 36 pieces of sushi and was quite full after all that of course. I see they do specialize in the whole tasting menu. Where you get exquisite fish fresh from the chefs, for an investment of only $119 per person. But with lackluster ambience, and sushi that quite honestly doesn’t fill you up. I don’t know if it’s worth it. If you plan to go on a date here, and talk and yap so you don’t eat much. Or perhaps you come here to drink and still not eat much. You might find this place appealing. But me just coming here to eat and basing my review solely on that. My total was $105, as they charge nine dollars for a bottle of sparkling water. I don’t know if this would be worth it. For $105 I can go to Manhattan and get an unlimited Brazilian steakhouse experience where the waiters are at my beck and call. My waiter at this restaurant wasn’t too on top of me and wasn’t in a hurry to take my order the first go around, neither was she too prompt on pushing my second order after 20 minutes of waiting for rice and vegetables. I can easily think of other sushi places with thicker rolls 1/2 to 2 inches per roll for a quarter of the price with eight pieces per roll. Now I might say the quantity is not here, but neither can I say that the quality is. For the average person, I doubt people would notice the quality difference if they weren’t looking at triple the price. If I could make anything better at this restaurant, I would hopefully see that waiters could be more on top of the guests, especially since it was half empty when I was there. And perhaps more value to be provided. As I feel, I didn’t have an amazing experience. And I’ve lived in Park Slope for my whole 24 years. Hopefully they get better and maybe reach out to me so I can try it again another time. 3/5 stars ⭐️

Was really looking forward to this meal but unfortunately I left feeling completely cheated. We ordered the omakase and received the same selection on our first and third course (pictures attached). Having the exact same preparation is a complete slap in the face and they didn’t even offer to take anything off the bill and just said “sorry.” Apparently this place is know for good value, but it’s definitely worth going somewhere else.

Not bad at all, food is ok, nothing to be said,,WoW,, but is highly overpriced , just regular small restaurant.
Vasley G — Google review
Terrible omekase. I ordered their chef omekase and it was SO OVERPRICED. Posted 8 out of the 12 pieces so see for yourself. Mostly whitefish, two types of mackerel. The fish was SO FISHY, it tasted like it came from Japan and defrosted two weeks ago. By the second plate, I was so disheartened I didn't even take a picture of the last four pieces. For 120$ omekase, there is no king salmon, no scallop, no anago, no ikura, no shrimp, no crab, NOTHING OF VALUE. Uni was subpar. And the oyster.. forget it. 3 out of 6 pieces stank. Makes me sick thinking of the food. Not only that, but through three appetizers, the waiter comes over to puts his hand on my plate, asking if I want to take the last piece. Squid app .. fluke app... oysters .. every plate only has about 6 pieces. Of course I want the last piece. It's not busy cuz there's tables open so are you short of dishes back there? NEVER AGAIN.
L L — Google review
Make it a special occasion and get the omakase. Each piece was made a la carte and explained by the waiter. This is more helpful than the other restaurants where the waiter hastily explains 20 pieces of fish on your tray and you forget what’s what. At Sushi Katsuei, each piece was crafted and explained to us. One by one ☝🏼 So it was more of an experience. Definitely tried things we’d never order plus we tried things that are seldom on the menu. This is not your typical sushi 🍣 restaurant. The chefs wear white hats and it’s very minimal. High quality. You must try this and go for the omakase ⭐️
LIEM — Google review
welcoming, warm and relaxed atmosphere gives way to one of the best omakase we have ever had. they don’t need holier than thou atmosphere - the sushi speaks for itself. each bite utter perfection. A true gem.

I felt compelled to write this review from my honeymoon in Japan. My partner and I have continually commented on the extent to which sushi katsuei holds up even in the context of Japanese sushi restaurants. This place is just so good. It’s the perfect low key and serene place. The omakase is excellent.

Sushi restaurant
Sushi Noz, opened in 2018 by Chef Nozomu Abe, offers a high-end omakase-only dining experience in the Upper East Side. The restaurant has quickly gained a reputation for serving authentic Edomae-style sushi, raising the bar for this ancient Tokyo tradition in New York City. The minimalist design of the space features antique wood from Japan and a unique Edomae-style ice chest, creating an extraordinary atmosphere for diners at the omakase counter.
Probably the greatest meal I’ve ever had in my life. The food all had so many complex and intense layers of flavor and the wine/sake pairing were immaculate. It’s certainly not cheap but I do believe it was worth every penny. Truly an experience I’ll remember for the rest of my life.
John Z — Google review
Food used to be higher quality a couple of years ago. Now they have decreased the portion sizes and exponentially increased the price. We ordered the “omakase” for $95 for pick up and received a meager serving (pic below). Wish we saved the month for something else. We used to come pretty often, but won’t be back for a bit, if ever.
Jane C — Google review
We spent our special night at Sushi Noz when we visited NY. We were informed during the reservation that Chef Nozomu Abe would not presented at that day. It was okay for us as we once had the worst experience at the world-most famous sushi omakase place so nothing can be worse than that. We arrived just a little bit early so we were first asked to wait in front of the ash room while the chefs prepared for the very last bit. Then, we got invited to the Hinoki room right on the reservation time. The dinning room definitely brought us back to Japan. Feel warm and familiar. There was a little sealed letter set in front of us. I found it such a lovely setup. Then, we ordered different Sake for that night Omakase. The price was quite high for a glass. They started off with 6 dishes before followed by 11 sushi (including a hand-roll) then finished off with Miso soup, Tamakoyaki and the sweetest melon. All 6 dishes definitely one of the best combination of best ingredients. However, I found this far from Edomae style. It’s more of western style for us. Although, we still like all the dishes. For the sushi, I found it interesting the way they chose to serve us each ingredient like Ika was served fresh, chewy and crispy (usually served super soft). Then, the rest of the sushi lines were served in a softer texture manner in a good interesting way. But to be honest, we found the ingredients a bit simple than any other Omakase we’ve been to. Nothing beyond expectation. The meal finished with the sweetest melon from Hokkaido. I miss this course ending. I think a lot of Omakase places stop serving melon and replace with other type of dessert. Definitely you will be satisfied with the Omakase course but I found it a bit pricey and not valued for paying $1,500 (including drinks and tip) for 2.

We did the 6pm omakase. Everything was phenomenal and delicious. Definitely planning on coming back.

I recently visited Sushi Noz and was blown away by the entire experience. The sashimi, sushi, and rest of the dishes were super fresh and delicious, and challenged my very Americanized palette (in a very good way!). Chef Noz, Chef Austin, and the rest of the staff were consummate professionals. By the time the dessert course came around, I was STUFFED. That said, Chef Noz, I need to know the recipe to that pumpkin ice cream! It blew my mind! This was 2 hours in heaven.

Sit down review: went for 9pm to be served by noz himself. The omakase is one of the most renowned in nyc for a reason. Simply the best service, experience and food. Chef noz is wonderful. Deserving of all the praise and accolades Sushi takeout review: Just as amazing. It’s very high quality. Highly recommend the futomaki’s. The kaisen don was really great too. It’s expensive for sure but they sometimes have deals for takeout.

Omakase at its finest! I was fortunate to be in Chef Noz’s seating. What a treat it was! From the moment you step in, to the last bite of your meal, everything was meticulously planned and executed. No detail, down to the sauce or the last grain of rice was overlooked. Even the staffs were in kimonos. It truly was an amazing experience!
Ada K — Google review
If I were able to give this sushiya 6 stars, I would. I went there on a Saturday night so it was not the famous Chef Noz. However, that didn't really affect the entire experience. Upon entering the dining area, the ambience was warm and welcoming. It was a very neat 8-seat setting. In front of you, on the table, was a welcome letter with your name on it. The server was very attentive as well as the sommelier. The sommelier clearly explained the menu and I ended up with Kirinzan Junmai Daiginjou. After I finished the first glass, I was thinking about trying a different one. The sommelier was kind enough to let me try before pouring the entire glass and I indeed didn't like it. So I just ordered the same sake. I really appreciate how the sommelier cared for each detail. After choosing the drinks, now let's focus on the food. The Chef that day was Yudai Shibata. He was very friendly and professional (of course for a two-stat Michelin restaurant) and would answer any questions. The omakase started with the juicy oyster. It was a very refreshing appetizer and I'm glad that it also went well with the sake. The journey continued with Hokkaido uni and flounder sashimi. No special dressing so everything you tasted was from their most original flavor. This was another thing I love about this restaurant: nothing too fancy but the ingredient itself. Then there was the bonito. The skin was crisply fried but the fish was still raw. The different textures exploded in your mouth along with the nori. The next one was a show. You can see the sous chef squeezing the noodles into the boiled water. The noodles were not soba or anything traditional. Rather, they were made from fish so there was an extra layer of umami. The noodles blended well with the soup and fish. The last dish before entering the main sushi session was fried silver flounder. It was fried crisply and with the caviar on it, the taste was complex but simple at the same time. It was complex because you have the hot fried fish and cold caviar and sauce. The crispy outer skin, the soft meat, the tiny bites of caviar, all together formed an enjoyable dish. It was simple because it's just tasty. Now it came to the protagonist (or I should say protagonists). All kans of sushis were made simple: seafood, wasabi, shoyu, and shyari (vinegar sushi rice). With the combination, you can clearly tell the difference between each fish. The sushi started with some light ones such as kinmedai and shrimps. Then you know the climax is coming when you see the tuna family: from akami to chutoro to the exquisite ootoro. When picking up the sushi, you can still feel the warmth left from the chef's hands, which I think is the main difference between those sushi that were pre-made. Each kan was made in perfect shape. After the ootoro was different styles of sushi, such as uni gunkan and anago temaki. Finally the sushi dishes ended up with tamago and miso soup. The desserts were also well designed. The first one was corn ice cream, which I have never tasted before. It tastes like iced corn chowder. And the final one was my favorite: the Hokkaido Yubari melon. So sweet yet so easy to consume. Although you would already expect good food from a two star, the actual presentation still exceeded my expectations. Probably that's why this sushiya deserves two stars. Before leaving I also had a pleasant small chat with Chef Shibata. I'm certain that I would visit Sushi Noz again and don't be disappointed if the Chef is not Chef Noz.

What an absolute pleasure to dine here! From the moment we walked in the service was great and attentive. We were lucky enough to sit in front of Sushi Chef Dai. He was so welcoming, informative and kind. He told us about each bite with such enthusiasm and knowledge. Not only was each bite well executed and delicious but he shared some amazing stories and insights about the preparation, story and history of the bites. Truly was an adventure. Fumi our server was great as well. Dan also made a point to check in on us. Hospitality and service was on point, Overall great experience. We wanted a delicious and thoughtful experience for our short trip and it was just that. Thank you to everyone on the team!

Chef’s table. Chefs Omakase at $250 per person. Great experience. Exceeded expectations. Attentive service. Interaction with Chefs 100% worth it. Outstanding freshness. Warm sable fish, scallop from Hokkaido, sea urchin, A5 Wagyu all great. And creme brûlée to end it was just perfect.

I’ve been to Sushi Nakazawa 8 times since it opened in 2013—way before NYC became flooded with omakase spots—and it’s still one of the best around. This was my first time back since COVID, and I’m glad to say it hasn’t lost a step. My daughter and I had the classic menu, and it was just as I remembered: clean, elegant, and consistently excellent. It’s traditional Edomae-style sushi—no over-the-top truffle and uni stacked tuna, just beautifully done, pure flavors. The progression of the menu is really well thought out. It starts with a few kinds of salmon, moves into shellfish, and keeps building from there. I did the sake pairing too, and the sommelier nailed it—every pour worked perfectly with the food. John, the GM, and a lot of the original team are still there, which says a lot. You can feel that experience and care in the service and the overall vibe. Definitely still one of NYC’s top sushi spots. Can’t wait to go back.

It’s pricey but worth it. We did the chef’s omakase. Nice variety of tastes and textures, beautifully presented. We also added a caviar piece. The service was impeccable. We marveled at how seamlessly they cleaned the table without interrupting us. The ambiance was serene and sophisticated, exactly what you’d expect for a place of this caliber. Definitely worthy of a Michelin star.

New York trip. Hubby took me to this Sushi restaurant and we ordered Omakase. Surprisingly price was very decent for also being 1 Michelin Star. There were 2 selections for Omakase we picked the higher one which only $220 per person adding truffle shave on one of the Sushi piece was $35. So total $255 per person not bad at all. We ordered a bottle Sake $135. Food tasted very good. The Omakase included 3 appetizers and 17 Sushi pieces tasted very fresh. Staffs were nice from host to our servers. We uber there. Never drive in NY cuz parking and driving is crazy lol. We made rsvp so we got in no problem. Totally recommended here.

We came to Sushi Nakazawa to celebrate our engagement, and it couldn’t have been a more memorable experience. While there are many affordable omakase spots popping up around New York these days, this one truly stands apart in quality and precision. Every piece of sushi showcased the chef’s artisan touch — clean, balanced, and beautifully crafted — especially the raw shrimp, salmon, and scallop, which were absolute standouts. The live shrimp was prepared right in front of us, still moving moments before it became sushi — incredibly fresh and delicate in flavor. Even the dessert left an impression: the Japanese melon served at the end was unbelievably sweet and fragrant, the perfect finish to an exquisite meal. The chefs and servers were all warm and professional, and they made our celebration feel truly special — even lighting a candle to mark the occasion. A wonderful place for any special occasion — refined, heartfelt, and worth every penny. Truly a perfect meal for our engagement celebration. Just make sure to reserve in advance, and everything else will be taken care of once you arrive at the place.

Have been here twice. Date of most recent visit was February 2025. Went with a party of 4, sushi counter for dinner. 2 of us availed the Premium Omakase and the other 2 with the wine pairing. Superb food. Exceptional service. We were served by the Executive Chef Shawn Li, awesome funny guy! All of the sushi were fresh, flavorful and well presented. You need a reservation to get in, and they fill out quick, i recommend reserving as soon as the spots open. Overall, 100% recommend and will definitely come back on special occasions.

My first time at Sushi Nakazawa, and this is the closest thing to eating at a friend's restaurant I’ll ever have. This started with John, who was super professional but also gave off the vibe that you were hanging out with your brother. The entire staff had a comfortable familiarity with them, making it easy to ask questions about each piece of omakase and the sake pairings. The sake list is big, and their sake sommelier was so helpful. Great omakase with excellent sake pairing in my price range. I will definitely be back!

Restaurant
Uotora, located in Crown Heights, Brooklyn, is a top-notch restaurant known for serving high-quality fish sourced mainly from Japan. The establishment's chefs, Atsuomi and Hiroyuki, boast over two decades of experience in sushi restaurants and specialize in creating omakase menus tailored to guests' preferences. The intimate setting of Uotora offers locals the option to enjoy hand rolls, miso soup, and seaweed salad from the to-go menu.
Great casual omakase experience Bae surprised me with dinner- I thought we were just gonna pop into a place that had oysters bc I was craving them. Got the sushi omakase, 2 different sake carafes, and an extra oyster The oysters were 15/10. So creamy and flavorful. Not super cold as most Western style oysters, which allowed the flavor really shine. The soft shell crab was also perfect. As others have shared, the omakase arrives in flights, which isn't horrible but I see what people mean about not getting the freshest piece of each round. I think a bit of wasabi was added between the fish and rice of some pieces, which took away from the experience of the fish in my opinion. Still, it was very delicious. The miso soup service at the end of the meal arrived in a perfect cup for sipping. The tiny clams were a pleasant surprise that elevated the mild soup. Now I want all my miso soup with clams! The staff was all very friendly, professional, and knowledgeable about the menu. Would return to try their other non-omakase menu items.

The fish was super fresh. The sushi chef was warm and welcoming. If I had to nitpick, the service was a little slow, but I didn’t mind it too much. It gave you time to digest the sushi. I would come back!

Uotora is a true hidden gem in Brooklyn. Sushi is incredibly fresh and expertly prepared - each bite melts in your mouth. The ambiance is cozy and intimate, making it perfect for a quiet dinner. Easily one of the best sushi experiences I’ve had in the Brooklyn. Highly recommended!

As a Japanese person, I have high standards about sushi. Let me tell you, Uotora is a hidden gem and the best sushi restaurant in NYC- you will get the same quality sushi as those $$$ sushi spots in Manhattan. I came here for my birthday and had the omakase. Can't wait to come again!
Amy M — Google review
Omakase is very valuable, only takes $90 and $105. However, 12 pieces took almost 3 hours is incredible too long. Typically 12-15 pieces can be finished around 90 minutes. Specially the seats wasn’t perfect for stay that long. The other thing I feel not that professional was the stuff said the omakase will come with a dessert, but we still get charged for ice cream. Double check with the menu, it does mention omakase including the dessert. Not sure why we get charged (no one mentioned what the dessert is, or the ice cream need extra charge).
Erin H — Google review
4.5 rounded up, for the omakase menu. A good quality omakase, but without paying those Manhattan prices. We got to Uotora for our date night, and booked a reservation over the phone easily. The only issue with the reservation was when we got to the restaurant: it took 20-30 minutes to sit us down, since the previous party didn't finish yet (the omakase bar can only sit 4 people). The restaurant gave us a free dessert, without us asking for it, as compensation. Now for the omakase: delicious and unique. They recently raised its price to $95, but added a sashimi dish. So we got: * Assorted sashimi - including 2 pieces of tuna, a few pieces of orange clam, yellowtail, branzino & a delicious piece of salmon * An appetizer of oyster, and marinated fish. * 10 pieces of sushi, including Saba with gut sauce, and a delicious sockeye salmon * A hand roll * And miso soup with clams The sushi chef was pleasant and took great pride in his work.

Sushi On Me is a trendy Thai-Japanese restaurant located in a basement on Roosevelt Avenue. The intimate speakeasy setting offers an unconventional twist to traditional Japanese omakase dining, with local Thai chefs and lively music creating a party atmosphere. The menu features a fusion of Japanese sushi and sashimi with Thai curries, all served in dimly lit surroundings for a delightful dining experience. Limited seating requires advanced planning, but the friendly and interactive staff make the visit worthwhile.
This place was amazing. 10/10 everything, truly. The service was great, very attentive, informative and fun. My partner and I and the other couples were a bit more low key at first but the chefs and Sake boy did a great job at hyping up the vibe. The music and song choices are incorporated with the experience and the dishes, such a fun time. BUT THE FOOD😮‍💨spectacular give me 14 of them. The course consists of appetizers, main dishes and dessert. The appetizers took it home for me, especially the oyster and smoked salmon dish. We are already planning our second visit

We had a BLAST! Was in town for the night and craving sushi for a birthday so not knowing much other than a good rating, we made a reservation. It was perfect because we needed a later slot and they were open! Sushi on Me first and foremost, had awesome food with varied flavors that were adventurous and fun to see how passionate the staff was with their inventions/recreations. They spoke of various Asian cuisine influences and it was clear they know their stuff and have fun doing what they do. Secondly, the atmosphere was unmatched! We observed the group ahead of us who all seemed to be having a great time as a large group and I think we had just as much fun with our small group. They seemed to even pay close attention to what songs a group may love and then cater to it for more personalized and fun approach, would even taper the volume depending on the vibe at the moment. For our one night in NYC it was the best choice we could’ve made!

What a luxury to be able to have this in my neighborhood. I’ve been here three times now and each time I leave feeling like I had just gone to an underground party and enjoyed some great sushi! The AYCD sake is a plus. They are super attentive in refilling your cup. The omakase is far from the traditional omakase however I like how they incorporate Thai flavors into their dishes. The Penang curry with eel over rice is the perfect amount of spicy and sweet. They serve a good amount of appetizers before preparing the sushi pieces and ending with a dessert. If you have a birthday person in your group, prepare to sing! It’s so fun to see a group of strangers coming together enjoying sushi and just having a good time. The chefs are hilarious and I always enjoy coming!!

I went to the Jackson Heights location on a Friday night with my boyfriend and his best friend. There were only five people in attendance, but the chef and staff were so fun and so friendly !! We did karaoke too!! I wasn’t a sushi girl before but I am now lol the food was literally amazing honestly, I want to go back everyday LMAO!! I loved this place !! Such a great experience and delicious food!!

I had an amazing time at sushi on me! I always love to come here on special occasions and this time it was for my sister’s birthday. All the chefs made it a fun and hospitable environment and made it a special day for the birthday girl. Food was amazing and chefs made everyone feel as if it was their birthdays on a Thursday night! Overall a 10/10 experience, come here if you want an amazing 15 course omakase experience and for the even better company!

The staff here is absolutely amazing and makes everyone have a great time. As quick as you can drink is as quick as they’ll serve you sake. The sushi is amazing too however I am not a sushi snob or connoisseur so for the average person it’s very good sushi.

Sushi on Me is easily one of the most unique and consistently amazing dining experiences I’ve ever had. This Thai-Japanese fusion omakase spot is a must-visit. I’ve been here multiple times now, and each time I walk away even more impressed than the last. The quality of the food is outstanding—creative, flavorful, and beautifully executed. The fusion element adds such a fun and unexpected twist to traditional omakase, and the variety keeps things exciting with every visit. What truly sets Sushi on Me apart, though, is the vibe and the people. The energy in the room is always upbeat and welcoming—fun music, lively atmosphere, and a staff that genuinely seems to love what they do. The team is just as warm and attentive on your 5th visit as they are on your first. It’s rare to find that level of consistency in both service and experience. If you’re looking for amazing food, great vibes, and a team that treats you like family every single time—this is the place. 100% recommend.

Nakaji is an intimate sushi venue that offers curated omakase meals served at a chef's counter. Due to the shutdown, they shifted to providing traditional edomae-style sushi in wooden containers for takeout and delivery. The sushi pieces are slightly larger and tightly packed to maintain their integrity during transit. Despite the challenges of COVID-19, Nakaji has received rave reviews for their quality and thoughtfulness in ensuring a great dining experience with delivery.
This place offers an unforgettable dining experience. From the moment you step in, the friendly chef and his attentive staff make you feel right at home. Their warm hospitality sets the tone for the evening, ensuring everyone feels special. The quality of the ingredients is top-notch. Especially the various shellfish. Every dish showcases the freshness and vibrant flavors of the season. The decor is tastefully done, with a special emphasis on the stunning flower arrangements. A specialist visits regularly to refresh them in creative ways, making each visit slightly different and adding a unique touch to the ambiance.

Wow, what an incredible sushi counter experience. My girlfriend and I, who have been fortunate enough to have experienced other great omakases, both consider this the best sushi experience we’ve had. The service was impeccable and responsive. The chef was very attentive to both his craft and his guests. While everything we tried was in the category of “best we’ve ever had”- the purple sea urchin for me was a huge favorite, while my girlfriend loved the classic toro nigiri. Truly a 10/10 experience, could not recommend more highly.

We didn’t get our first course until 25min after the reservation time, and we didn’t get our first sushi course from chef until 1.5 hours after the reservation time. Food had highs and lows. Pickled ginger was sliced unevenly by chef in large chunks. The unagi in the soup had many bones to chew through and was overcooked. Tamago was unrefined. Uni, salmon roe, and the bluefin tuna jawline were delicious, and the rice and yuzu accompanying many of the pieces were great.

This one of the most Racist Japanese place I been to. Spent 500$ a person to eat here just be discriminated. The chef slams the tables and told us to get off my phone. There was other party that was there that offer us drinks when we was about to be finished and employee told the guest not to give us any and told the guest to just leave. I don’t know if they treated us like that because we was Chinese. I don’t think anyone should be supporting an establishment with the worst costumer services.

Tucked in a quasi-alleyway with a tasteful exterior light as the only marker, you could say this place nailed discretion. Despite attracting a spread of solo diners, couples, and small groups, you become one larger group over the course of the meal. I felt completely entranced during the 2+ hour dining experience and pleasantly sated at the end. Everyone at the establishment was kind, attentive, and totally attuned to each client‘s vibe (more casual with some and more stoic with others). My Favorites • Japanese King Salmon • Rosy Sea Bass Loved this place!

It’s excellent but not for everyone. He serves a special style of sushi where some items are aged or marinated. For me it was delicious. It’s a 2.5 hour meal with add on options like uni tasting and a special Shabu Shabu type of option. I had them all.

Sushi restaurant
YOSHINO • NEW YORK is a 10-seat sushi counter located in the East Village, opened by Tadashi Yoshida from Japan. It has earned a perfect four-star review from The New York Times and offers a $646 omakase menu of around 21 courses featuring seafood sourced from top Japanese markets. The chef's move to Manhattan marks the first time a true master from Japan has relocated to open in the city.
This is one of the best Japanese restaurants I’ve experienced in New York City. Their cuisine leans toward traditional Japanese flavors, with a master chef boasting decades of experience who brings many dishes to near perfection. They also offer some unique signature courses that leave a lasting impression. While the prices are significantly higher than your average Japanese restaurant—sometimes several times as much—the dining experience here is unparalleled and well worth the cost. From my experience, a few highlights set this restaurant apart from other top-tier Japanese establishments in NYC: 1. Exceptional Handling of Traditional Ingredients The chef’s mastery of Japanese culinary techniques shines through, especially with rare and luxurious ingredients like hairy crab, cod milt, and nodoguro. These items, typically found only at the finest restaurants, are elevated here with flavors that are distinct and memorable, offering a fresh perspective even if you’ve tried them elsewhere. 2. Creative Signature Dishes The chef's original creations are remarkable. For example, the charcoal-grilled mackerel is perfectly cooked with an impressive preparation style that adds a touch of theatricality to the meal, leaving diners both entertained and impressed. 3. Premium Ingredients and Impeccable Knife Skills The quality of the ingredients is exceptional, and the precise knife work combines them in perfect harmony, turning each dish into a true work of art. 4. Warm and Enthusiastic Service Both the chefs and the staff are incredibly friendly and passionate, showing genuine care for their guests. It’s touching to see such a famous establishment maintain this level of hospitality and dedication to providing the best dining experience possible. 5. Seamless Teamwork in the Kitchen Observing the chefs at the counter, you can sense the efficient harmony of the kitchen. Their collaboration is seamless, showcasing the precision and professionalism of a well-run operation. Despite their Michelin-starred status and well-deserved acclaim, there are a few areas where they could improve: 1. Limited Innovation in Modern Japanese Cuisine While their dishes excel in traditional flavors, there’s less focus on modern Japanese innovations or fusion cuisine. For instance, their combination of ice cream and white truffle, though interesting, doesn’t rival the creativity of some renowned French-Japanese or modern Japanese restaurants in NYC. It would be exciting to see them explore more inventive directions in the future. 2. Pacing of Sushi Courses The sushi courses are served with relatively long intervals, as one sushi chef handles all the sushi for the entire counter. This disrupts the flow and makes it harder to compare the flavors of similar items like lean tuna, medium fatty tuna, and fatty tuna. Having multiple sushi chefs could improve the pacing and enhance the overall dining rhythm, allowing guests to better enjoy the progression of flavors. 3. Inconsistent Plate Presentation The choice of plates feels a bit eclectic, with some leaning toward modern Western styles and others embracing traditional Japanese aesthetics. Some plates have overly busy patterns that distract from the presentation of the food. A more cohesive and complementary plate selection could elevate the visual aspect of the dining experience. Overall, this restaurant is an outstanding representation of traditional Japanese cuisine and delivers an exceptional dining experience. I hope they continue to maintain their high standards while also pushing boundaries to innovate further and solidify their place as one of NYC’s top Japanese dining destinations.

The nigiri portion of the omakase was one of the shortest I’ve experienced—only about seven courses, three of which were akami, chu-toro, and otoro if I remember correctly. That part was a bit disappointing, and they didn’t offer any options to add more afterward either. Otherwise, everything was excellent, as you’d expect at this price point. The atmosphere is definitely that of a high-end restaurant (no hats allowed, by the way), and the food preparation, presentation, and ingredients were all top-tier. Is it THE BEST omakase in NYC? I wouldn’t say so. It’s also quite pricey for what it is—$640 per person before drinks, and with gratuity, you’re looking at around $900–$1,000 per person. To me, it wasn’t a solid five-star experience, but giving it anything less than that would feel unfair. I’d still recommend trying it at least once and deciding for yourself. I’ll give it another chance.

I was excited to dine at Yoshino and had pretty high expectations given the hype and reputation. Reservations aren’t easy and pretty much always sold out, I got invited in after joining the waiting list. Reservations open usually 30 days in advance at noon EST sharp. Chefs and staff are very nice and friendly. What distinguishes Yoshino is that they are more interactive and lively when compared to other traditional Japanese Omakase experiences. Service is flawless and wine/sake pairing was good and what you expect but nothing peculiar. The sushi counter was modern and ambience was fun and lively. Menu is divided to few courses of seafood appetizers and traditional few pieces of nigiri and hand rolls. Fish tasted fresh, highlight of the menu to me were, Octopus & Swordtip Squid and Nodoguro / Blackthroat Seaperch. The Tuna with its different fat grades and the sweet shrimp nigiri were my favorite sushi pieces. Overall, a very good experience but nothing unique, truly exceptional or distinctive when compared to other Michelin omakase experience i tried and reviewed before.

Incredible. One of the best meals I’ve ever had. Went with two others. All had wonderful experience. Rating these kinds of restaurants is tough. Expectations can be crazy and they all have slight variations on the typical format that reviewers either like or don’t like. But there is no question that the food was fresh and creative, service outstanding and ambiance wonderful and intimate. Had the best sake of my life here. The hand roll for some reason really blew me away and even the gelato to end the meal had a texture smoother than any I’d ever seen. Portion was quite healthy and I liked that there were no enhancements available. The egg and unagi in the photo attached I could eat everyday for any meal. Great food and great experience.

Rude staff. Mediocre food. Ridiculous price tag for normal food. I guess it’s appealing just for people wanting to show off on social media. The staff was rude and after leaving an already included 20% tip they demanded an additional one for pouring water. We decided to go along with this and left an additional tip but the staff brought the check back saying that the tip was not enough and making a scene in front of everyone. I understand complaining when you don’t receive a tip but doing that after receiving already more than 20% (~200$) it’s a low class and extremely disrespectful move, especially for a place that’s supposed to be “classy”. Also, the only bill they doubled-checked was ours (only non Japanese speaking people in the place). Part of the Omakase experience is supposed to be the interaction with the chef, but in our case the sous chef, only interacted with Japanese speaking customers not explaining most of the dishes leaving us wondering what we where about to taste. On a positive note, the food was very fresh, but not worth the extremely high price tag and you could see that the chef was very passionate about his job. In conclusion, this place is not worth it! NYC has some amazing sushi and this one is unfortunately not one of them. I’m sorry for the chef because you could see his passion but his staff ruined our experience and it is unacceptable for a restaurant that aspires to be great.

I am not into traditional sushi only. Actually I love a lot of small restaurants very affordable in Paris, Seoul, Tokyo and Honolulu. Is it possible that Yoshino is the best Sushi master in NYC? very highly possible. In the world? I would bet money on him. Im addition to be very nice and charismatic, Chef Yoshino have an amazing team around him. TOP 3 PLACES IN NYC WITH G. KEUTHER AND THE MODERN.

Food 10/10 Yoshino has stolen the show and is now my favorite Omakase place of all time. The ingredients used were classic but also creative, everything was top quality and you can taste the freshness and premium perfection of the fish. A holistic journey of different pieces and plates, and there was just the right amount of courses. They clearly took that extra step to prepare everything beautifully and precisely. Chef Yoshida does a spectacular job with the nigiri, and his saddle-shaped rice is unique and incredible. If you do get a reservation, you HAVE to go. A few of my favorite dishes: Aokri ika / big reef squid: the first dish. The crunch of the seaweed was refreshing and paired perfectly with the smooth texture of the squid Monkfish liver: also outstanding, so much better than foie gras. Light and airy, yet somehow creamy at the same time Karasumi Mochi: as someone who is very much obsessed with mochi, this was the perfect addition to the meal. Freshly made mochi, along with bottarga. I made sure to savor every bite, and I ended up eating the slowest among all the diners haha Chiaigishi Chutoro: a gorgeous gradient of hues, a generous amount of tuna, put together through a legendary craft, produced this outstanding piece. Might be the favorite one of the night, and apparently they only serve this piece once every ten days because it’s very difficult to obtain Atmosphere 10/10 Light wood interior, a super subtle entrance that guides you into an intimate yet not too tight dining room. There are limited amounts of seating, which is probably why it’s so so difficult to get a reservation here. Bright lighting that creates the perfect stage. Subtle and minimalist designs keep this place feeling relatively lowkey. There’s a bonus: a spaceship-shaped toilet, beautiful and sleek. Service 10/10 There was absolutely no sense of snobbishness or elitism that can commonly be felt at fine-dining restaurants. With Omakase experiences, there is a history and a tradition to it, and I really appreciated the interactive elements throughout the entire meal. All of the servers were friendly and homely, I felt really comfortable and enjoyed every part of the dinner.

From the moment we stepped into Jōji, we were immersed in an ambiance that struck the perfect balance between relaxed and refined. Hidden in the corner of the station like a speakeasy, this 10 seat Omakase experience was one of the best I've been to. Helmed by iconic chef Eiji Ichimura, who has previously earned two Michelin stars, the restaurant offers a seasonal omakase experience consisting of approximately 20 courses. Chef Ichimura is celebrated for his expertise in aging fish and presents signature dishes like the monaka, a rice-based wafer filled with uni tongues, ossetra caviar, and fresh wasabi.

Pretty incredible place and despite the very high price actually worth it. Just an incredible experience all around - several dishes were “first ever” and the quality of everything was just incredible. Watching a master sushi chef at work is half the experience, the rest is his delicious food, particularly the “appetizers” leading up to the sushi. Very large pieces of Hokkaido uni with caviar, an incredible conch dish, an amazing noodle and hairy crab item. Sushi pieces are very large and generous. Amazing selections of wine and drinks and a nice double magnum of d’Yquem that went great with the tuna. Please go you won’t regret it. Slight ding on the service for one server who was slightly annoying but overall great service from the team.

I've been to several Michelin Star omakases and Chef Ichimura's sushiya is hands down my best experience yet. When you walk in, you can't help but be impressed by the beautiful hand cut Japanese cedar counter. The chef was so welcoming, friendly, interactive and gracious. The food was outstanding! The Uni and caviar dish lives up to the hype and the double layer tuna nigiri are a delectable treat. The service was top notch and was always where they needed to be and when. This omakase is worth the steep price and a standout among a sea of Michelin sushiya in NYC.

It’s a very nice omakase experience for us. We were greeted and sit in front of the chef’s table. We all sit in pairs (4 pairs) and we enjoy a really nice food. The fish is very fresh and the chef cuts it in front of us. They also recommend some nice sake. And one of the couples is celebrating their birthday and bought a really nice sake for everyone in the room. The uni served in a crakers was so good. The fish are spectacular and they also make the wasabi fresh and tasty. I also tried the snail, which I never tried and a bit squimish, but I tried it anyway and turns out really delicious. Though there’s a little thing that I don’t fancy, there’s a female waiter and most of the time only talk and explain the food to my bf or talk next to my bf. But when other server come, they always come in between us and explain to both of us. It’s weird but I never experienced this in any fancy place, as they always explain the food to both people. Also, (I’m sorry chef) but he talks really quiet. I couldn’t really hear when he explains. 🥲 Other than the inconvenience, the place is great and would say that it is one of our favorite omakase places we visited.

Sushi Yasuda is a renowned Japanese restaurant in New York City that offers traditional sushi using ingredients flown in from Japan. The restaurant's minimalist and elegant bamboo setting provides the perfect backdrop for an intimate and refined sushi experience. With a focus on traditional sushi preparation, Sushi Yasuda has gained popularity, making it difficult to secure a table at this sought-after spot.
Amazing experience at Sushi Yasuda! My chef Moriyama from Kagoshima prefecture was perfect, a typical Kyushu man with a great personality and spectacular at serving up delicious sushi. My server Tsuzumi from Okinawa prefecure was also very attentive and did a fantastic job making sure we had everything that we needed. The whole team was amazing, I’ve eaten sushi in every corner of the world, including Japan, and I can safely say that Sushi Yasuda is up there with the best! Thank you again.

The food here is the freshest sushi I have ever had. The off menu sea perch is a must try. Our server mia was knowledgeable attentive and made our experience unforgettable.
Katia A — Google review
TLDR: Visiting from LA. Beautiful, upscale sushi bar better suited for omakase or a proper sit-down. Toro and Spanish mackerel were excellent. Pricey for a quick bite. We dropped a rental nearby and walked into Sushi Yasuda looking for some rolls. It’s really a reservation-leaning spot with a calm, minimalist counter setup, ideal for omakase at lunch or dinner. Staff was professional and kind; the manager felt a bit stressed, but our chef at the back counter was friendly and helpful. We kept it simple with a few cut rolls and a couple of nigiri. The toro and Spanish mackerel were standouts clean flavor and perfect rice. Rolls were well made. For a light order, the bill was about $120 before tip, so expect premium pricing. If you want a fast, casual sushi stop, there are easier options. If you want a refined counter experience with top fish, this is a strong choice. Pro tips • Book a counter seat for omakase to get the full value. That’s the chef’s specialty. • Come at lunch if you want a calmer vibe. • Expect premium prices even for a small order.

Unsure how the dining in experience here is booked the takeout was honestly nothing short of disgusting. Unsure how they claim this to be omakase. The uni was definitely rotten and the shrimp was the fishiest shrimp I’ve ever eaten. Unacceptable how this cost $200 when it really should have been $20.

This place is AMAZING. They offer a large variety of sushi with fresh fishes from all over the world. The staff knows Kosher, so for people who want to make sure they eat Kosher fish, the staff will be able to recommend a Kosher sushi selection.

Had the omakase option. Everything was amazing! Honestly, we went to Japan not too long and we also had omakase at a one star there. But anyways, the whole experience and especially the food was as good as, if not maybe a tad better than the one we had in Japan. Crazy take but it was honestly amazing. The chef also really catered to our preferences which was enjoyable without the need to outright tell him what we want certain items like à la carte style.

I've read a few scathing reviews of this particular restaurant so I was somewhat apprehensive in reserving a table at the 180+ price point. I'm pleased to say though that the food and service I have received here was well deserving of a Michelinstar. The omakase was delicious, well curated, and delivered with flair. The staff were courteous and attentive almost to a fault. If you're looking for a conservatively traditional omakase experience Yasuda has my recommendation.

Sushi of Gari 46 is an innovative Japanese restaurant that is known for its exquisite sushi. The setting is austere and the sushi pieces are expensive, but purists say it's worth every penny. The Sushi of Gari 46 features a variety of creative omakase menus that will leave you speechless. Very good sushi in midtown west. I appreciate that each piece is a great cut, so you definitely are leaving satisfied. The restaurant also offers omakase and multiple interesting appetizers. Service is great. The place is not very big and more on the casual side. They also offer great lunch special, used to be my favorite nice lunch spot when I lived and worked in the area.

Woof. Unbelievably overpriced for what you get, and what you get is 12 pieces of sushi with ZERO finesse. Just sloppy and weak flavours. These look okay, but they were indeed just okay. Their fish quality is good but you're paying 160 dollars for 12 pieces..... it better be good quality at least. But for that price the experience should be amazing, and it was soooo not at all. What is amazing is that they are charging this price. I will pay 200-400 for a good omakase i rly dont care because it can be so worth it, this is so not. The lights are so bright it makes you want to shrink back its almost like being in an interrogation room i really dont feel like im exaggerating that much. Terrible ambiance so so bad that would be reason to never go back but with the sushi being so subpar at the price point. Just avoid.

I had an incredible dining experience at Sushi of Gari 46. From the moment I walked in, the service was outstanding. The sushi chef was exceptionally kind and welcoming, which made the experience feel personal and authentic. The staff was attentive without being intrusive, ensuring that I had everything I needed throughout the meal. The ambience struck a perfect balance between elegance and comfort. The minimalist yet warm décor gave it an authentic Japanese feel, and the atmosphere was calm and inviting — ideal for an intimate sushi experience. Now, the highlight: the sushi. The variety of flavors and textures was truly remarkable. Each piece was beautifully presented and thoughtfully crafted, showcasing the freshness of the ingredients. The toro nigiri topped with caviar was a standout — the buttery richness of the fish paired perfectly with the briny pop of the caviar. The uni hand roll was another highlight; the creamy, sweet uni contrasted beautifully with the crisp nori and perfectly seasoned rice. Every bite felt like a harmonious balance of flavor and texture. It’s clear that a lot of attention goes into both the sourcing of ingredients and the preparation of each piece. If you’re a sushi lover, Sushi of Gari 46 is a must-visit. The combination of top-notch service, authentic atmosphere, and outstanding food makes this place a true gem. I can’t wait to go back!

I’ve been coming here for over 10 years, and it has truly become part of my weekly routine. The quality has always been consistent, the service is outstanding, and the staff go above and beyond to make every visit a positive experience. It’s rare to find a place that maintains such high standards year after year. Always reliable, always welcoming, and always amazing highly recommend!

Yes, Sushi of Gari 46 is very expensive, especially if you get the signature omakase. However, the quality and taste of what you get is incredible. Ingredients are top notch and the preparation and presentation are outstanding. It is a special and rare treat. Service is fine and the decor is nothing too impressive, but their sushi is so very good. Even something as simple as a tuna roll, just melts in your mouth.

I can say this restaurant is one you should visit if you are in NY and look for a sushi restaurant. They serve authentic sushi and also very modernized sushi. You can enjoy classic and innovative sushi both. Also I enjoyed the atmosphere of them. Very clean, cozy, and authentic Japanese restaurant atmosphere are there. I can say you won’t regret to eat their sushi. They also have affordable sushi around 40 bucks.

Bar Masa is a renowned Japanese restaurant located in Columbus Circle, offering an upscale fixed-price sushi menu in a modern and elegant setting. It is considered one of the city's top omakase counters and a must-visit dining destination in NYC. The restaurant boasts the most expensive omakase option starting at $750, with the hinoki sushi counter experience costing $950.
Delicious food and cocktails. Service was extraordinary and very attentive. Restaurant on the smaller side, which led to a more intimate dining experience. Only item I ordered that I didnt believe to be worth it was, sushi assortment for $110. Price doesn't make sense for the small portion. All food noticeably very fresh and perfectly prepared.

Sat at the counter. Incredible experience. Favorite dishes were: 1. Taro tartare with caviar. Every restaurant I've been to tries to upselm you caviar at exorbitant prices and then is stingy with it. Here it's just part of the menu and it is an extremely generous portion, and paired with the best cut of tuna. 2. Omi wagyu and truffles. Omi is the best cut of the agyu called the emperors beef because it was saved for the emperor. But the emperor never had truffles on it. What. Surprisingly good combination. 3. The rest was a tasting menu of pieces of sushi and every one was really good. 4. The Japanese melon was special. Sometimes they have a strawberry. Either way it's the same place that gives erewhon their $19 strawberry. We skipped lunch to fully enjoy it but it wasn't a crazy amount of food. Felt happily full after. If it's your anniversary or birthday you get some lady M cake at the end, which was great. Otherwise the only dessert is the melon so you can even plan to go have dessert somewhere after if you didn't want to have lady M. Overall I feel like the innovativeness of the caviar and truffle dishes will be lost on more casual diners but those two make the price tag pretty worth it in my opinion.

I was very happy with my experience at Masa NYC Hinoki Counter for $950 per person. You can get more detail at my youtube channel Noah Eats. This is not the Bar Masa location. This place down the hall from Bar Masa. This Masa is next to the another 3 Star Michelin Per Se. As opposed to the Blue Door at Thomas Kellers spot, Masa has a Blue Curtain signifying the are open and if located outside would provide shade. After you pass the curtain a Huge Cypress door guards whats inside. You are quickly acknowledged and locked into your bar height chairs. And you can put your elbows on the Inviting Hinoki Counter and you will find a block of ice to keep some ingredients chilled for service. Unfortunately there is a no photo policy so for my video review I had to tap my artistic side, so I hope you enjoy my youtube review. It's definitely a bucket list item for most of the world. I hope you do enjoy my Channel, Noah Eats well!

When my wife informed me we were sitting at the counter for my birthday & paying $950/head, admittedly I was a bit skeptical. Any doubt I had was quickly removed. Our experience at Masa was spectacular. It was—quite literally—the best meal I’ve ever had. Each piece of sushi is carefully curated & the flavor profiles will blow you away. The wood they burn to sear the fish is imported from Japan, giving each seared piece of sushi a flavor you won’t find anywhere else in the United States. I can’t speak highly enough about this place… like I said… it was literally the best meal I’ve ever had
Robert I — Google review
I got the hinoki experience. Everything was amazing and, dare I say, perfect from taste to presentation. It was the best 3-Michelin meal that I had in NYC. The sushi was out of this world. The sake recommendation was on point. The no photo policy is a shame since everything was so pretty.
Squirrel F — Google review
Undeniably good sushi. But, Bar Masa proved to me that sushi quality can only rise so far, while the price can rise seemingly uncapped. The sushi is on par with a few other sushi spots in NYC. On a per dollar level of enjoyment, many other NYC sushi spots do better. The restaurant was unexpectedly brisk on timing. They told us as we sat down we had only 90 minutes. (Had not mentioned when we called to make the reservation). They then relatively unceremoniously pushed us to leave the table 90.0 minutes after our reservation. The sushi sampler had some great pieces. I would have preferred the role was something with fish rather than boring vegetables. The duck tacos were great.
Zachary D — Google review
1. Note there are 2 restaurants conflated here - Masa, a super high end omakase restaurant, possibly the most expensive in the city, and Bar Masa, a related lower end (although still good), creative menu’d more casual place. This is review is for the latter, because they are not listed separately by Google maps. 2. Bar Masa used to be a favorite sleeper restaurant of mine, with many relatively reasonable very creative tasty dishes (e.g. delightful fish-based pasta with no wheat, roasted uni in its shell, fois gras peking duck tacos, etc). On my last visit yesterday, however, the food portions were smaller, the quality not as high, and in some cases the prices higher. E.g. the shishito pepper were bland, and the sashimi was woefully scant and only medium quality. Another fallen hero. Sigh.
Peter G — Google review
This is simply perfectly done. The menu screams of rare and delicious ingredients that aren’t masked in crazy preparation. Service, wine pairings, and environment are all 10/10. We will absolutely be back.

Authentic Japanese restaurant
Sushi Seki is a popular sushi spot in NYC, known for its amazing omakase and variety of choices. The restaurant offers indoor and outdoor dining, with a friendly and accommodating service. While it can get busy, making a reservation is recommended to enjoy the fantastic sushi experience. The timing between dishes during peak hours might take some time, but it's perfect for gathering with friends or family for a special dinner.
I came to sushi seki for my first omakase experience and it did not disappoint! First, we got some appetizers and the fried chicken was very good, flavorful and tender. Then, the first omakase dish came out and I was stunned by the presentation, very pretty! That tuna was absolutely MIND-BLOWING! It was my first time having tuna that didn't taste fishy and it just melted in my mouth. Every single piece of sushi I had was so tasty, I couldn't stop smiling. On the next plate, my favorite was the oyster! It was so tasty and the seaweed added great flavor as well. On the next plate, I was scared to have their uni because of a past experience but it was actually sweet and very good! It made me realize I just didn't have quality sushi before. I really like the scallop nigiri as well and the hand roll was delicious! I was so full but needed to try their dessert and I was shocked that even the dessert was AMAZING. I almost ordered a second one, I believe it was a chocolate panna cotta. The service was great too, I have no complaints. Each piece was explained by the server and they made sure to accommodate our requests, each of us had different ones. They had a welcoming atmosphere as soon as we walked in. Overall, best experience I've ever had, the food was excellent. I've had omakase many times since then but sushi seki is still my number one choice, I'll be back again!

This place was decent as a neighborhood sushi spot. The sushi rolls weren’t the best I’ve had but I do like the fact that they don’t add too much rice. The big hit of the night though were the A5 wagyu skewers - perfectly cooked and just so mouth watering good.
ReedH — Google review
Disappointing. Sushi/rolls/sashimi lacked freshness, one order was so bad it had to be sent back yet still appeared on the bill, and the service felt rushed and impatient. Prices were double what you’d pay at truly authentic places in the area and around the UES. With plenty of far better sushi options within a short walk, this was a waste of time and money, I will not go back unfortunately.
David K — Google review
This was our neighborhood spot. No matter how long passes between visits we are always warmly greeted, like family. The sushi is outrageously good, Exceptionally fresh & beautifully presented. Their sake selection is top tier.
Stella T — Google review
Interesting and creative sushi place. Some dishes are really good - white tuna sushi with seared tomato and triple decker with caviar and uni. Other dishes are not so good, such as fried chicken and seaweed salad. But overall, it is a good sushi spot in the city
Alex S — Google review
Truly amazing, All omakaze are so tasty, yet delicate. This location are always busy which is good thing for them! So Reservation is recommended. The service also go along with food quality. Nice and friendly. The timing between each dish during busy time might take around 10-15min. We complete the whole set and total spend time there around 3hr. It’s a nice gathering with friend, family or coworker to have conversation during special dinner.
Korapin S — Google review
Sushi Seki has great sushi, and it is open very late too! Come in, sit at the sushi bar, say "omikase", and lots of great sushi appears. Third time here. I think it was even better than the last time. The great pieces of nigari just keep showing up. Anyway, they’re all so good!
Charles L — Google review
Sashimi tasted bad and felt like rubber, snow crab roll came without crab and only with tempura flakes, eel sauce had the consistency of water. Called to complain and ask for a refund and the hostess completely disregarded me and brushed it off. Paid $80 for 3 incomplete mediocre tasting sushi rolls and and 2 pieces of inedible salmon sashimi. Not only is the food quality bad, the customer service is even worst and they do not care if their customers are satisfied.

Japanese sushi restaurant Tanoshi Sushi offers high-quality omakase meals with a BYO policy. Guests can enjoy delicious nigiri, sashimi and rolls prepared by the chefs with careful balance of flavor and texture. The restaurant has just 10 seats around a counter, making it difficult to reserve, but the sushi is worth it. Prices start at $50 for the basic omakase meal and range up to $115 for dinner.
this is still the best sushi experience in nyc in my opinion. About as close as it gets to Tokyo. The price is pretty reasonable. The fish is always extremely fresh and they always have a few interesting varieties that I haven't tasted before. The rice is a perfect temperature which is a major part of how good sushi is. Service has always been good for me here. it's BYOB so don't forget to bring a bottle of something.
Lynx B — Google review
I Dream of...Tanoshi♡ Returned last night (after our first visit 4 years ago) and was still blown away by quality and flavors of each piece. I didnt want the meal to end! BYOB and minimal decor really makes this such a NYC best kept secret (altho NOT that secret bc res can be hard to get!) Yes, we trekked from deep Brooklyn to far Upper East Side just for this meal! Thank you, Tanoshi!
Emily F — Google review
I've been to many omakase counters around the city, from (relatively) inexpensive to expense-account level restaurants, and Tanoshi consistently equals or betters every one. The spaces (left and right) are spartan at best, but the quality of sushi is always next level, with each piece somehow surpassing the last. Seemingly simple preparations belie the complexity of flavors and textures possible with the highest standards of ingredients and techniques (especially the rice, which is perfection). It's been a couple years since my last visit, but I scored a last minute reservation on Thursday and used it as an opportunity to introduce a work colleague. He was blown away and is already making plans to come back. The only slight knock is that prices have crept up from past years so it's not the screaming bargain it used to be, but that's the case everywhere do I can't be too upset.
Andy B — Google review
Amazing! Very rare nowadays that I like every single piece I eat during an omakase meal. I couldn’t find fault whatsoever. They do have a lot of sea bream, amber jacks, flukes but the execution is on point which is hard to find in a city filled with sushi places that are not traditional. I strongly recommend.
Lisa T — Google review
This is literally my favorite restaurant in the world. I've been here four times and each time has been amazing. Each piece is better than the last and every time I have left pleasantly full and fully satisfied. It is also BYOB which is great. They provide ice buckets for whatever you've brought and allow you to select from a number of different cups before the meal starts.
Fred B — Google review
Omakase style sushi bar which is absolutely delicious. Reservations are a must; each round has space for about eight people. Two chefs prepare one piece after another to be enjoyed. Best ginger 🫚 I’ve ever had at a sushi place! You can get green tea but they serve no alcohol or drinks! So bring your own bottle - they supply a silver ice cooler :) we paid around 280$ for a great evening. We didn’t say it was my birthday dinner but the women next to me got this amazing sushi cupcake creation with a little candle (and her bday was 3 days prior - so a little jealous ;) ) - tell them!
Annika B — Google review
This was the worst sushi experience I’ve ever had. The rice was entirely unsuitable for sushi – it lacked the light, fluffy texture and didn’t gently fall apart in the mouth. Instead, it was dense, sticky, and felt more like a large lump of rice or mochi. Despite using good-quality fish, the sushi itself was tasteless and poorly made, far worse than even grocery store sushi. The sushi chef seemed inexperienced in traditional omakase preparation. I was particularly surprised by how the sushi was presented without any thought or care for direction, something I’ve never seen at an omakase restaurant before. Additionally, hygiene was concerning, as the chef used the same gloved hands to handle sushi and touch various items around the kitchen. It made for a very unpleasant experience, to the point where I wanted to leave halfway through. While the fish itself was decent, the poor execution of the sushi overshadowed everything else. Considering the restaurant’s previously strong reputation, it’s clear that something has changed – likely a shift in management or ownership. Unfortunately, this once-celebrated establishment no longer meets its past standards.

Shuko is a compact, upscale Japanese restaurant in Union Square that offers omakase-only sushi and kaiseki meals. The 20-seat counter is manned by chefs wearing Shuko-branded baseball caps, creating a relaxed yet refined atmosphere with an eclectic soundtrack. Priced at $270 for roughly 18 courses, the omakase experience is considered ideal for special occasions due to its impeccable service and attention to detail.
10 out of 10 experience. The Sushi Omakase Experience was amazing. Some of the best fish I have ever had. The Spanish Mackerel with Ginger Root was my favorite. There’s also a staff member walking around with a tub of ginger to give you refills, so if you are like me and love ginger this is your spot. Take your time to speak with the Chef. We discussed each piece and the reason for its selection. The staff was very welcoming and enjoyed my groups curiosity. This place also goes nuts with Uni and Toro. Just a really great time with my brother and sister! It was also my Sister’s Birthday which Shuko went above and beyond with a handwritten note signed by the whole staff! Great Restaurant.

Shuko is absolutely the best omakase in NYC! This top 50 restaurant in New York City delivers an unparalleled dining experience. The fish, sourced straight from Japan, was unbelievably fresh—the Hokkaido uni was incredible, melting in my mouth, and the otoro was pure perfection. Our chef, Darry, was outstanding, constantly checking to ensure every bite was perfect and genuinely caring about our happiness. When my girlfriend asked for hojicha (not on the menu), Darry went out of his way to check with the team and found some in the back—such thoughtful service! The staff’s attention to detail and willingness to offer off-menu items made us feel so special. The curated music set a fantastic vibe in the intimate setting. For anyone seeking fresh Japanese sushi and an unforgettable omakase experience in NYC, Shuko is a must-visit gem. Highly recommend!

super intimate vibe and great overall experience. (i can’t really imagine not doing bar seating here, it was so fun seeing everything being made) it was 16 courses for $270 pp i believe with options to do add ons. we spent roughly 2 hours here great cocktail and sake options too. -1 star bc i do always normalize for price and there’s definitely more responsibly priced options in the city for omakase. there’s also no sign outside which is kinda cool
Cindy H — Google review
Shuko NYC is the epitome of upscale omakase dining. From the moment you step into the sleek, intimate space, the attention to detail is immediately apparent. The sushi bar itself is a work of art, with a beautifully smooth countertop that is sanded daily, creating a pristine stage for the culinary masterpieces that follow. The food is simply decadent—sourced from the best purveyors, ensuring each bite is of the highest quality. The fish was the most premium I’ve ever enjoyed, with the toro and sweet shrimp especially standing out, their flavors practically singing on the palate. Marin, the beverage director, curates wine and sake pairings that are nothing short of exquisite, each one thoughtfully chosen to elevate the meal in a way that felt seamless yet extraordinary. The toro uni caviar toast was a perfect add-on, a luxurious treat that I still dream about. And the barley ice cream? I’ll remember its subtle, nutty flavor for the rest of my days. Beyond the food, the warmth and gracious hospitality of the staff make the experience even more special. Every detail, from the meticulously prepared dishes to the genuinely welcoming service, reflects a commitment to excellence. Shuko is not just a meal—it’s an experience that stays with you long after you’ve left. An absolute must-visit for anyone who appreciates the art of omakase.
Sonya S — Google review
I came here to celebrate my birthday with a group of friends. We were able to book the private dinning room which was really nice. The room could seat 6 people comfortably and was away from everyone else. The cost for one person was $280 with the possibility of changing out the second course for a milk bread topped with caviar, toro and Uni. The food overall was fresh. Everything tasted good much like most high end omakase places in the city. The waiters and waitresses were knowledgeable about the fish that was used for the sushi and where it came from. My only issue was that they offered the upgrade for the second course and didn’t tell us the price. It is on us for not asking but seeing an extra $120 charge per upgrade was not expected so just be on the lookout if you decided to upgrade the second course. Overall, Shuko has great fresh sushi but when compared to other omakase in New York City, it doesn’t blow anything out of the water. For me personally, I’d rather go to a place like Sushi Nakazawa where it’s $100 cheaper, the sushi is just as good and you get more pieces.
Matthew C — Google review
Tremendous sushi making. The rice and fish are well balanced, the flavors were amazing. The selection for the omakase was varied and interesting. The grunt fish, barracuda, golden eyed snapper, Tasmanian trout, uni, and the wagyu were stand outs. The sake selection was great as well, with a wide selection.
Howard T — Google review
On the pricier side but it was definitely worth it. Everything was delicious and fresh. We dined in the private room which is at basement level and unfortunately the heater wasn't working so it was a little cold but, despite that, I still enjoyed my experience and would come back! Also, 2 people I was with got the beverage pairing (it's not just sake) and they were very pleasantly surprised with the amount they got for the price. The omakase course ended with some very delicious ice cream and I couldn't resist asking for a second serving of it (which they gave to me on the house!!). Overall I'd recommend it if you are looking for a high quality and unique omakase experience.
Valerie K — Google review
This was my first omakase experience, and I admit that I was hesitant because of the price ($228 pp). Shuko was worth every penny and then some. The entrance is unassuming with a speakeasy type of feel, and if you aren’t paying attention (especially at night) you could walk right past it. The interior is intimate and well decorated with the large bar counter as the centerpiece, where you can enjoy watching the chefs work. A lot of reviews complained about the music, but honestly I loved it. It was really cool to be able to vibe out to some R&B and hip hop in an upscale sushi restaurant of all places! For a nicely paced omakase and pleasant conversation with the chef, try a later weekday reservation (8-10 pm) as it’s not too busy. The staff was really friendly, and the service was attentive. Not only was our sushi chef extremely talented, he was also very kind and lovely to talk with. He even prepared an extra special item for us since we were celebrating my husband’s birthday. The selections were to die for. The standouts for me were the uni, the spicy toro with scallion and chili mayo, and the smoky seared Kama toro, which might just be the single best bite of food you ever have in your life. If you’re thinking about splurging on omakase in Manhattan, and DON’T mind an early 2000’s era Ludacris jam session, try Shuko. I promise you’ll leave fulfilled and elated (albeit a little bit more broke).

The food is phenomenal. It took a while to get it all, almost 3 hours for the full meal, but it's pretty worth it. The waitstaff was very attentive. The waitress noticed my wicked couch and brought me a lovely ginger lemon tea that was miraculous.

We had the 21 item grand tasting menu. Let's break it down. Ambience: nice, spacious and relaxing. However, it's more of a casual place than a high end place it's designed to be, or priced to be. Bathroom is located at the hotel next door, a slight inconvenience. Service: hostess was nice and friendly. We had 2 servers. One was great, friendly and informative with the items coming out. The other seemed like she was forced to be there. At 375/person, one would expect superior service. Food: The few initial items were delicious. Wonderful creamy uni. Unusual sashimi. Once we moved toward the items with sauce, things get a little underwhelming. The sauces/creams were mostly salty and took away the taste from the main ingredients (fish, mushroom, etc). The foi gras toward the end was oversauced with the sweet sauce that it was hard to discern the wonderful fatty taste of the foi gras itself. Overall, it was an experience, but with such price range, you can literally have any other omakase option in NYC.

Servers are fantastic and work to cater to your individual requests, but the omakase was a little bit and miss. The dishes were quite imaginative, and some of the courses were delicious - but maybe only every 1 in 2 were good. For the price you pay, you'd hope that every course is phenomenal!

Great food but it took over 3 hours to eat (Omakase)... this restaurant is basically luxury sushi meets French-style. Everything is timed to come out and the food is delicious. Honestly, the sushi can rival any NYC Restaurant with its fresh fish and amazing creations! However, sitting for 3+ hours will make you go a bit nuts. Advice: GO! But give yourself enough time to savor and enjoy.

Found this gem randomly while craving sushi. Definitely a spot we’d like to visit again. Watawa Sushi used to be my favorite sushi restaurant on Ditmars Blvd. I’ve dined there many times - alone, with friends and family. The food and service were great, and I always left satisfied… until my most recent visit. I went back one evening with my mom, expecting the same amazing experience. We politely asked to sit by the window since there weren’t many people inside. Although they agreed, it felt like our request wasn’t well received. We waited a long time for our food, while people who arrived after us were served first. When our food finally came, it was nothing like before. The shrimp tempura sushi and fried calamari, which used be my favorites - tasted bad... like the oil hadn’t been changed for a while... Unfortunately, both the food and the experience were disappointing. Even worse, I had stomach issues later that night, and my mom didn’t feel well for almost a week. It was really upsetting, especially since this place used to be a favorite. Maybe I’ll give it another try someday - but definitely not anytime soon.

A friend of mine recommended this place to celebrate my birthday, so I went to Watawa Sushi and it was a great location to celebrate. Very friendly staff, Sushi is to die for and they have plenty of drinks options. The menu is extremely good and complete with multiple options to choose from. If you are a sushi lover like me, please give it a try. If you are in the Astoria area you won’t regret. I am definitely returning for more yummy sushi!

I lived in Southern California for 20 years. Just moved back to Astoria. Watawa is the best sushi I’ve ever eaten! Fresh and absolutely delicious. Their lunch special is amazing. I promise for the price you will be bringing leftovers home. The service is amazing. Especially Filip, stephen, Daniel, quino and all of the amazing servers.

Sushi Ginza Onodera is a high-end sushi restaurant located in New York City, offering an exclusive omakase-only dining experience. The 16-seater Michelin-starred establishment specializes in traditional Edomae techniques to preserve the fish, resulting in enhanced umami flavors and a delicate texture. Guests can indulge in a culinary journey curated by the skilled itamae, featuring appetizers, seasonal nigiri, homemade tamago, miso soup, and desserts for a delightful surprise.
The environment and service at @sushiginzaonoderanyc were really great, very close to like being in Japan. Loved my 10 piece nigiri omakase lunch course (with appetizers to start, miso soup and dessert to close). Many places in NYC are trying out new fusion ideas for omakase courses, but here they win by using high quality ingredients for the traditional itamae sushi experience. The bluefin tuna, chutoro, and amaebi were my favorite! Incredibly fresh and delicious!

Great service and atmosphere. I loved the interior and the smell of natural hinoki wood while dining in. I thought the ingredients they used were very fresh but I don’t it met my expectation. Although sushi was good I didn’t find the entire experience to be too special overall but I think their sake selection was great.
L L — Google review
Great omakase. It wasn’t the best sushi I’ve had in New York City, but for the price you get great value. For lunch, it was $350 for 2 people, tip included. All of the pieces were really tasty. I mentioned I didn’t like ikura and the chef replaced the ikura in the first dish with uni, which was fantastic.

One of the best omakase experiences I've had in NYC. Right from the moment you enter the restaurant, you're treated extremely well by the very gracious and polite staff. The chefs who prep the sushi and the other dishes in front of you are so helpful and educate you on what is being prepared. The wide variety of options for sushi is very delectable and makes you wish you could have lots more! Truly a wonderful experience and a must-visit place in NYC, especially during lunch hours!

Overall experience has been very pleasant one. The service was attentive and welcoming. The vibe was very neat and simple. There are three different Omakase to choose from for lunch. Nothing really stands out to me but all the taste was there. There just wasn’t a wow factor in each Nigiri. I did fairly enjoy the appetizer and dessert. I would recommend to those that love Omakase to give it a try for lunch. I would definitely go back to give its dinner a try.

5++ Experience, Craft, Taste and Service. 2022 Michelin Star rated. My wife had read and heard about this place for some time but we never had the chance to make reservations which can be difficult if not booked in advance. We were very fortunate to have Executive Chef Sakagami Akifumi to prepare our lunch omakase. He was extremely nice, informative and demonstrated his 33+ years of experience effortlessly. To have this level of interaction and personal touch really added to the experience. Even with extremely high expectations, our entire experience and taste was exceeded. Seafood is flown in fresh from Japan to include the nori, soy sauce, wasabi and ginger. What may seem to some as trivial compliments truly raises the taste. For example, using the freshly grounded wasabi adds a nice flavor without the burn. This was by far my best ever restaurant experience and that includes international trips and living abroad for 7+years. The entire staff was attentive, responsive without being intrusive. I can’t recommend this place enough. Whether it’s a special occasion or just a special treat, you will have a wonderful experience.

My husband took me here for lunch to celebrate my birthday and honestly, it was one of the best sushi course i ever had! Originally from Japan, this place has the most fresh tasting fish I’ve ever tried with the chef cutting each piece and placing on our plate in such artistic manner (i was extremely mesmerized sitting in front at the counter). We decided to go with the $150 seasonal course inclusive of 1 appetizer (steamed custard egg with salmon roe), 12 pieces of nigiri, negitoro hand roll, miso soup and dessert. Everything we ate were so good with each pieces of nigiri melting in our mouth. My favorite would have to be the Japanese Baracuda (which I’ve never tried nor heard of) as it gave just a right amount of smoky taste. For dessert, they brought out the matcha green tea coconut mousse with cafe-flavored ice cream (accompanied by a happy birthday song by everyone in the room lol). If you’re ever in the mood for a good sushi and feel like spoiling yourself (or going for a special occasion), then this place is highly recommended!

We had a great experience here for lunch. The location and ambience were amazing. Service was thoughtful and excellent. I really appreciated the introduction for each fish they served. The food was fresh and excellent, although not the best sushi I've had in NYC. The food was on the salty side for me, and some of the sauces became overpowering and I couldn't really taste the fish as much.

Sushi By Bou - NOMAD NYC at Hotel 32|32 is a delightful culinary gem that offers an unforgettable sushi experience. On my second visit, I opted for the exquisite 12-course Omakase tasting in their cozy ground-level restaurant, which accommodates just eight guests. The ambiance is both elegant and intimate, tucked away within a hotel lobby, making it feel like a hidden treasure.
Was gifted a gift certificate for sushi by Bou for a present from my brother and sil so we just had to go try it out. Everyone there were super nice and attentive. The food and drinks were absolutely amazing. I was told this place was pretty fast paced but honestly, it felt perfectly fine for my husband and I. All the fish were so fresh and the flavor combinations the chef put together was incredible. We added on the "Big Mac" add on at the very end, even though we were extremely stuffed from our 17 course omakase and it was worth stuffing it down! Would definitely come back again!

Been to a couple of their other locations, but had to stop by this one and was genuinely impressed. The food, the service, the atmosphere was all amazing. My favorite part about this chain is how small and intimate the space is, and the interior design is always beautiful & different at each location. But this has to be best location yet since there was a small Japanese theme bar next door where you could continue to hang out. Razo, was so welcoming and kind and made the experience that much better! We will definitely be coming back for their tuna tour!

I love omakase but haven't been to a spot in a while and this place definitely did not disappoint! Great value ($65 for 12 courses -- with add-ons available), delicious drinks, excellent service, and fun vibes (cool wall art, dark space, and 90s hip hop music)!! Loved everything about it! (The only qualms I have is with the $58 add-on of thr caviar bump -- I did not think it was worth it.) Will definitely be back!

What a great little spot! Such a vibe, sushi and drinks were spot on. We did the 12 course omakase and ordered some additional pieces. Staff was attentive and it's such a great vibe here playing 90s hip-hop. There is even a little speakeasy in the back with fun claw machines. Will def come back for the 17 course.

The best omikasi hands down. Chef Win was a joy to watch hand craft each piece of Culinary delight. The fish was so fresh and amazingly prepared. The Bougie 17 course is the way to go, if you love sushi so worth the price. The bartender and all service staff were amazing and truly knowledgeable about drinks. A hit, an amazing experience!! Authentic Japanese restaurant
Sushi restaurant
Katsuna is a hidden gem of a Japanese restaurant, located off the beaten path and offering an intimate dining experience. This exclusive spot requires reservations and does not offer takeout, as the focus is on providing a complete and attentive meal experience. The classic yet inviting design sets the stage for mouthwatering dishes, with particular praise for the amazing tempura. Guests have likened the atmosphere to dining at a friend's home – polite, friendly, and warm.
The best Japanese restaurant in Queens! Hands down! Delicious and authentic food served with professionalism. Been coming here for years and will continue to.
Sarita M — Google review
This place does not accept walk-ins, making it very a nice, quiet, lowkey spot. The service here is also very nice and their matcha dessert was EXQUISITE. What threw me off the most was the food and how they priced it. Considering how “exclusive” and expensive this restaurant is, it gives the impression that their food would be out of this world. But honestly…it was a bit lacking in my opinion. Definitely better than your local, go-to sushi restaurant but they’re easily beat by competitors like Takesushi. Plus, portions are so small. Felt scammed at the end of our meal.

Traditional Japanese styles. I love Octopus And Cucumber Vinaigrette. And I ordered Zaru twice. That’s so good. Good Sushi and nice services.

We have been going to Katsuno for many years since we moved to the area 10 years ago. I’m from Japan and can vouch first-hand that this is very authentic and delicious Japanese food. It’s run by a Japanese couple in a very intimate space. It is now reservations-only, which is very easy to set up. This was the place we went to for our first night out as parents, and to celebrate birthdays, including for our daughter who requests dinners here. Whenever anyone asks me for local recommendations, especially Japanese food, I mention Katsuno. Since I love sushi, I always order the nigiri sushi set (pictured but missing some pieces I already ate!), but we also often order the hijiki ingen salad, ume inaniwa udon, and rolls. I have also had tempura and the black cod and they’re also highly recommended. The sushi quality is so much higher here than anywhere else nearby (and far), and offer unadulterated Japanese flavors which are surprisingly very hard to find. I look forward to supporting them for years to come! ありがとうございます!

Called a week beforehand to make a reservation for 6:15. There was only one other party dining at the same time. I actually appreciate that they are reservation only - it does make for more quality conversation with your party. We ordered the Agedashi tofu and Magritte duck as appetizers. Both were delicious and had really great sauces that paired well with the dish. For entrees we ordered their black cod, pork hirekatsu, sashimi plate, and their snow crab avocado roll. The black cod was absolutely delicious, so tender, cooked to perfection, jam packed with flavor but not tough or mushy. The hirekatsu was another hit - four large pieces, fried to perfection. The pork itself was still moist and juicy. The sashimi?? So fresh and cleaned perfectly! The quality is definitely on par with what I get in the city so the price is absolutely reasonable to me. Lastly their snow crab and avocado roll - also really good! I love how sweet the snow crab was, there also wasn’t too much rice on the roll which was appreciated. Overall, we had a wonderful time dining at Katsuno. While the prices may seem a bit high and portions of certain items may not be the largest, the flavor really is authentic and the quality of ingredients used are good too. We will be back!
Minna C — Google review
A true hidden gem of a restaurant! We had seen it mentioned a few times online but we were still surprised by how good it was. The quality of their raw fish is top notch, on par with many of the very expensive omakase restaurants popping up all over the city but at a more affordable price. We had the octopus & cucumber vinaigrette, magritte duck with yuzu kosho, and sashimi plate (20 pieces). All were fantastic but the sashimi was by far the highlight for us. We had asked about the salmon & sea urchin salad but unfortunately they couldn't make it that night as they didn't have enough sea urchin (which at least attests to the freshness of their ingredients!). We also asked the waitress/owner what she recommended, but she seemed hesitant to mention anything other than karaage, black cod, and tamagoyaki despite having a menu with more unusual options than what's offered at most Japanese restaurants in Queens. To be fair, every table around us seemed to be ordering those things, so I guess their main customer base is not very adventurous and she didn't want to recommend something that we might end up not liking. Service was fairly attentive considering they seem to be a husband-wife team with no other staff, but I imagine it could get a bit chaotic during busy times. They're reservation only, but we called a couple of hours before opening time and had no issues getting a table for Friday evening. Bring cash to avoid paying a fee!
IZ — Google review
Reservations only, don't bother walking in without one. The reason being is the experience of the meal not just the dining in part. BTW, no take out either. It's not allowed nor offered, if you must eat, then dine in is the only option. This is not meant to be snooty in any way. The pace of the meal and the attention they provide to each diner is part of the whole culture. It felt like I was eating in a friend's home. Polite and friendly, yet still relaxing and warm. The food just added to the whole experience.

The menu showcases fresh ingredients, with unique twists like sweet sauces enhancing traditional flavors.
Definitely one of the better sushi spots I've been to in NYC. The spot looks small on the outside but it's fairly large inside. I was greeted immediately when I came inside so service is spot on for sure. Food service was timely and the food I've had was very good. Grilled teriyaki chicken w/ Rice filled me up along with the spicy Tuna roll I had as an extra. It is pretty costly though. All that along with the Iced Tea I ordered came up to $27 but I don't mind it. It came up to that price because I ordered an entree along with sushi a la carte on the side. They do have lunch specials for $12 so there's something you can get on a budget. I definitely recommend this hole in the wall spot with food that I'd say is worth it's price.

I love going to eat to different sushi places, they all have their take on sushi rolls. I ate the sushi lunch and it was delicious! The salad had a light ginger dressing and as someone who doesn’t really like ginger I thought it was good. Very filling and a good price I believe. Very nice atmosphere and service. Will definitely come again if I’m nearby!

Delicious and great service. I can see why so many people order from this place. We ate in and the service was attentive and food was delicious. Bonus: portion sizes are big! Food: We got a kani salad, two rolls (one speciality and one regular), and yaki udon. Everything came fast and the flavors were perfect. Super filling and wow that kani salad is the largest kani salad I’ve ever experienced. Drinks: Limited drink menu but they have beer and wine. We got a sake and it was a good portion size for two people. Service: Outstanding. Even with delivery drivers coming in and out the staff were friendly and attentive. They kept coming to refill our waters even though we were probably still good for a while. Passed by this place for years but now we’re hooked. Excited to try the other things on their menu!

Great casual asian food spot. They have a very good lunch menu, good balance of variety and value for the price. There are several tables inside for dining but it also is good for a takeout spot as well. I got the tofu and vegetable teriyaki lunch special with miso soup and the california rolls. They have options for vegan and vegetarian dietary restrictions. Staff were fast and friendly. Easy recommendation!

Ordered lunch special- 3 rolls with option for either soup or salad (chose salad) for takeout for total of $16. Come home and notice after eating that the sushi pieces contain more rice and veggies than fish. It’s rolled and decorated nicely not to notice immediately. While the food is decent for the price this isn’t worth it. I’ll go somewhere else next time in the neighborhood that doesn’t skimp on the fish.

Sushi Kaito is a small, traditional sushi bar located across the park on the Upper West Side. With only 12 seats, it offers a choice between à la carte or omakase ordering. The intimate setting makes diners feel like they've entered an exclusive club, with personalized place cards and dedicated sushi chefs attending to their needs. The omakase meal typically includes 15 pieces of sushi but can be upgraded to 18 pieces for those with bigger appetites.
Lovely experience here! The table had a little name tag. All the fish were super fresh and the chef was able to make dietary accommodations. I loved the roe and uni especially. Great price for omakase and the quality is so good! The chef also asked if we were full by the end. You definitely get full!

Can’t say enough good things about this omakase experience! It was easily one of the best I’ve had in NYC to date and really had me feeling so full and satisfied at the end of the meal. It’s $115 for the 17 course meal and it was worth every penny. It’s about a 90 min dining experience and there’s only 12 seats. I went alone and it was a great experience. Definitely would love to go back with a larger group.

One of the best omakase experiences I've had by far. It was quitet and no frills. A lot of other omakase places focused on the "trendy vibe", Sushi Kaito focuses on only good food and quality dining experience. All of the nigiri pieces were meticulously crafted by the sushi chef. The drinks are pricey, but the omakase was fairly priced and of high quality.

Sushi Kaito is an omakase restaurant located in the Upper West Side. • We experienced their 15-course tasting menu. • Despite its simplicity, the restaurant offers high-quality fish and seafood. • The atmosphere is intimate and cozy, though the presence of dusty plastic plants is a minor disappointment. • Nevertheless, overall, it's a positive experience. • The staff is attentive and courteous.

came here before of a promotion. Don’t know if it’s because of the promotion, the fish are not that good. First time got two salmon at omakase at this price level, one is even from Atlantic… someone who has allergies even got replace with one more salmon…. The chef at least broke two sushi, I got a broken unagi. Also almost half/half of the sushi are grilled… which is also very rare in my omakase experience. I don’t know the quality looks like is because of the event or it’s just their regular

Sushi restaurant
Suzuki Shokudo is a cozy Japanese restaurant located in the Dutch Kills area of Long Island City. The restaurant offers classic sushi rolls, ramen, and bento boxes in a low-key setting with a bar serving beer and wine. It specializes in traditional multi-course Japanese dinners and has garnered praise for its cutesy interior and delicious yet affordable meal combinations. Visitors have enjoyed the $60 omakase lunch, praising the quality of toro pieces, unagi, and rolls.
This place is a diamond in the rough. I did not give this place a chance until a friend mentioned it and I had been there twice so far for dinner. The food is delicious and the prices are great in this neighborhood. I did not expect authentic Japanese cuisine to be in the area. The best thing of all, they have uni and negi toro! Those are so rare to find in many Japanese restaurants. The staff are super friendly as well and they take care of the food. My partner has a shellfish allergy and was averse to anything sushi because of possible contamination but that has changed so it's a win for me! It isn't a huge place (seats maybe 30-40) so calling in for a reservation is definitely recommended or heading there early so there is not much of a wait time. I definitely cannot wait to try out their whole menu.

Good sushi and ramen place in the area! Would go back. Good food, service, and location. We went on a weekday evening around 6:30 and there were plenty of tables open. Service was attentive to order and refill waters throughout our visit. I liked how they had sets for various menu options. This allowed us to sample few things as it was our first time. Being a regular sushi eater, one surprising thing was that their rolls are huge! I couldn’t eat them in one bite. They were good but they didn’t taste the freshest. For us this was okay but if you’re looking for freshest, more classic sushi experience this may surprise you a bit. Ramen was filled with veggies and enough noodles. Surprisingly good portion sizes for the price!

What a charming local place! The restaurant reminded me of good old Mom & Pop diners in Tokyo in 70’s. Ramen soup is authentic and loved generous portion of lunch specials. Prices are right and services are attentive. Enjoyed chatting with the owner couple who had decades of experience of Japanese restaurant in Manhattan.

Very authentic Japanese restaurant. The minute you walk in it’s like you’re transported to 70s? 80s? Japan. I got the sushi and sashimi set, and every slice of fish was fresh and tasty. It felt like I was back in Japan again. My sister had the Chirashi don, which was also amazing. The salad comes with a carrot onion sesame dressing that I absolutely loved when I was back in Japan but haven’t been able to find here in New York. Overall, highly recommended authentic Japanese restaurant. One warning though: portions are Japanese sized too, so don’t feel guilty ordering sides!

Authentic Japanese spot serving quality cuts at a fraction of the price of other places. Particularly enjoyed the salmon and tuna cuts as well as the takoyaki. The atmosphere transports you back to little hole-in-the-walls in Japan and the staff are so sweet and attentive. Will definitely come back!
Chloe D — Google review
I love this place so much. Been here twice for dinner and am proud to say it has officially entered into our top restaurant rotation. If you’ve been to Japan, you know it’s unwise to shy away from sushi and ramen shops nestled near the train station since thats where some of the best options lay hidden. And Suzuki Shokudo offers that same experience in Long Island City. From the outside, it innocently looks like any of the random (and probably meh) Japanese spots you see all over the place. But make no mistake, here is the **real deal** and one of the most authentic restaurants around. The service is friendly and prompt and the food is authentic, fresh and delicious. I feel like I’m being transported to Japan when I walk in. The takoyaki was perfectly cooked with a generous amount of squid inside and still-curling bonito on top. The ramen was delicious with the most tender pork, fresh veggies, perfectly firm noodles and a gentle broth that wasn’t overly salty and seasoned yet packed serious flavor. The sushi was neatly presented and fresh - simple and near perfection. My wife’s teriyaki box was also flawless with a generous portion as well. Will try the dessert next time. Writing all that made me hungry again… Beam me up, Scotty!

"The FRIENDS Experience: The One in New York City" is a trendy coffee house that replicates the iconic Central Perk from the TV show Friends. It's a must-visit for fans of the show, offering actual memorabilia and artifacts from its history. Visitors can explore two sets of the apartments from the show and take plenty of pictures. The staff is friendly, and the atmosphere truly captures the essence of Friends. Additionally, it's recommended to buy tickets in advance to ensure entry.
10 stars for this. The whole experience was fantastic. The photos they take of us, great quality. They could have some more options in the store but cant complain. The gals at the cash counter could be kinder. The New York taxi kept on display was a complete winner for me. You always end up missing Matthew Perry. May his soul rest in peace. Also, the costumes on display and the show still being played adds its very own charm of nostalgia to it.

I visited The Friends Experience and it was such a fun, nostalgic trip down memory lane. The sets are recreated in amazing detail, from Monica’s kitchen to Central Perk, everything feels like stepping right into the show. There are lots of photo opportunities, interactive props, and little behind the scenes facts that make it more than just a photo spot. The highlight was definitely sitting on the famous orange couch at Central Perk! It’s a must visit for any Friends fan. Overall, it’s a joyful and immersive experience that brings the series to life ❤️

The atmosphere is warm, nostalgic, and full of fun photo opportunities that make you feel like part of the gang. Whether you want to sip coffee on the famous sofa, take in the recreated set pieces, or just geek out over all the references, it’s an experience that will leave every Friends lover smiling. My husband and I both visited The Friends Experience in Oct of 2025. Hardly anyone was there. We practically had the place to ourselves. Of course, you need to be a fan. Of Friends to really enjoy the experience. I was so happy to finally come here. I definitely want to go back. It was like being put in a time capsule.

Had a great time. Once you go in they put you in a room you watch a video and the this amazing thing happens after the video during the staffs introduction. Have your phone on record because it is epic. if you buy a full package, you get six photos, but you’re also allowed to take pictures. The pictures are awesome. You are allowed to take pictures with your phone between me and my mom We took 350 pictures. lol. If you love friends, you will love this experience!!

Must visit place for Friends fans! We bought our tickets at the place and didn’t need to wait, plus I think it was a bit cheaper than buying them online. Place doesn’t work on Tuesdays. You will see all those real actors clothes from the tv series, as well as iconic rooms sets and other things that was used in series. Staff was really friendly, took bunch of pictures for us. We took around 45 mins to go around the rooms and we read and checked all the things there. At the end I think that the place is a bit too pricey, as there is not that many things to see and the whole experience kinda end fast. But again, if you’re a fan of the series - go there and see it, will bring back some good memories. And don’t forget to visit Central Perk - stay for a minute and have a sip of coffee :)

The staff were so friendly (pun not intended) and helpful! They would take professional shots and photos of you own your phone. They would encourage us to react scenes if we wanted before taking the shots which was a lovely and not typical in my experience. They were also very kind and patient when answering questions. The place is a Friends fan's dream come true!
Yasmin — Google review
Great for fans, but pricey and a bit disorganized. As a die-hard Friends fan, stepping into recreated sets like Monica’s apartment and Central Perk was nostalgic and fun. The attention to detail is impressive—from props to costumes—and there are tons of photo ops sprinkled throughout the experience. The staff were friendly and often happy to snap photos on your phone if you ask. However, I was disappointed by the high ticket price, which didn’t include professional photos (you pay extra later), and the premium package felt misleading, offering little value beyond the basic entry and coat check. All in all: a nostalgic treat if you’re a true fan—but consider it carefully if you’re on a budget or expecting better organization. Checkout my detail vlog - Wanderlust Swapnil on YouTube

Genki Omakase is a no-frills yet high-end dining experience located in Greenwich Village. The restaurant offers a 13-course omakase for $68, with an option for a 17-course meal at $98. Diners can bring their own alcohol to pair with the meal. The staff provides quick and efficient service, ensuring that guests are in and out within an hour.
Genki Omakase is a famous Omakase place located right outside of NYU and Washington Square Park, serving a 15 piece course for a great price. The staff are excellent, with them observant at every turn, refilling waters when needed, asking for any extra pieces needed, and more. They provide free hand wipes throughout the meal, and are able to explain the dishes well. The courses were excellent. A favorite piece was the salmon, with a decent fish to rice ratio, though maybe smaller than other places. For the price though, I think it is well worth it. The A5 Wagyu was very good, the slice of wagyu they used had a great marbling and was cooked to perfection. They didn't have 1 of the pieces when we went, but they were able to substitute it for something else which was tasty as well, and didn't ruin the experience. the pieces were served with a dash of soy sauce and wasabi, however wasabi was able to be customized to be less or more depending on preference. Overall a 10/10 experience.

I was recommended this place by a friend and it did not disappoint. The price for quality is certainly a great deal. All of the fish tasted extremely fresh. Each course was unique and had its own spin. Our chef did an excellent job. The waitresses were also very attentive and thorough. My one critique is that if you are sitting in the seats closer to the door, the music can be very loud. It was difficult to understand what our chef was saying most of the time. Nonetheless, I certainly recommend coming here for a great prices Omakase in NYC.

The sushi chefs are very nice! Went here for my birthday lunch and was treated very well. The sushi flavor combinations are delicious, and the price is affordable. Would go again. Only thing is, the "Hokkaido milk" ice cream did not taste like Hokkaido milk ice cream - would skip this next time.

I was in NY for a show and thought I'd try an Omakase tasting while here. I looked a Google reviews and saw a lot of positive feedback for Genki Omakase! I'm glad I came the food was delicious, the sake was a perfect pairing and the service was top tier. I had the 13 course pairing and ordered the house sake. I would highly recommend this restaurant for your Omakase tasting experience!

Genki East Omakase on Stanton has unbeatable prices, quality, and most importantly vibe. Open the doors to an omakase experience for just $65 led by Chef Adam and enjoy his artistic culinary techniques combined with the freshest seasonal ingredients. Taste the freshness and quality with each bite in Genki East’s simple and clean sushi bar while watching how it’s prepared. That unagi is a real treat. The sweet and savory sensation really completes the meal perfectly. If you’re looking for a high quality omakase with amazing vibes withoit breaking the bank, Genki East is absolutely worth the visit.

we recently went to japan so was not really expecting much… so we were really happy to have gotten a really great experience here… sure the chef could use a little more finesse or grace when preparing the nigiris but it was easily trumped by the flavor profile and freshness of everything in the omakase… the wait staff was also friendly and always made sure that our cute skinny highball like mug is never low on sake… will definitely come back…

It was a very nice Omakase. I had to wait a bit for a counter but well worth it. The fish MUST be extremely fresh, this place IS! The rest is presentation and feedback. I am a big eater so the chef gave me a lot more than normal customers. I tipped him an extra 50.

Temakase Handroll Bar is a Japanese restaurant in New York that offers a unique dining experience with its focus on handrolls and set menus. The venue provides an intimate and cozy atmosphere, making it perfect for hosting private events. Guests can enjoy an interactive experience by rolling their own sushi at the DIY hand roll bar under the guidance of expert sushi chefs. The restaurant's concept is similar to Kazunori, where hand rolls are served one by one to maintain the crispness of the seaweed.
Temakase is a must-try and must-try-again place. Minimalist and cozy place with a unique eating experience. Our server, Michael, was really pleasant to us as well. We got the Hangry Hand Roll Set. It was really satisfying and scrumptious. My favorite was the scallop hand roll.
Nate C — Google review
The hand rolls here are delicious! Amazing service too. I recommend getting a set so you can try the different hand rolls - the scallop one was absolutely amazing. The fish tastes so fresh, would honestly give a 10/10 for this restaurant.
Natalia A — Google review
Temakase on 28th Street is dangerously good. Every hand roll was absolutely banging—fresh, flavorful, and perfectly wrapped. They just kept coming, each one better than the last. The crispy rice was also a standout—super crunchy and topped to perfection. The quality of the fish and the balance of textures made it one of the best hand roll bars I’ve been to in NYC. The ambiance is also super cute—intimate and modern without trying too hard. Highly recommend for a fun, delicious night out.

One of the best sushi spots I’ve been to in New York! The fish was incredibly fresh, and every piece was perfectly prepared. The atmosphere was cozy and relaxing, with a nice balance between traditional and modern vibes. Our server made sure we had everything we needed and gave great recommendations. He gave us one of the best sake we had which is Soto and I really enjoyed it with my hand roll. I’ll be coming back again to enjoy it.

Gave this place a try one saturday afternoon and it didn’t disappoint! Walked in and sat right down. The staff was very attentive, answering all our questions about the menu and constant water refills on a hot day. We got the tuna & salmon crispy rice appetizers—which were phenomenal! We also chose to get the “Starving” Handroll Set which came with 5 handrolls (any of which you can swap out if it’s not your preference). The spicy scallop and the toro were my two favorites - compared to other handroll places in NYC, their version of it was memorable.
Ali B — Google review
Super cute handroll place at hits the spot. Relatively cheap for handrolls and had a good variety of rolls and other dishes. Loved the crab roll as it had a citrus-y note to it.
Cindy P — Google review
Overall this food is really good and the atmosphere was wonderful! The only knock is that the service could be better; for example, I’m pretty sure my wife and I either received our rolls in different orders or got different roles altogether even though we ordered the same set menu. Granted I could this staff was new because there were people training them. Regardless it didn’t deter us from our experience. The crispy rice yellowtail and the salmon with citrus yuzu was our favorite!
Greg S — Google review
Nice place to get handrolls when you're craving for some good sushi. They do a similar style of menu for handroll bars where you can get a fixed set of 3/4/5/6 handrolls or ala carte. One thing that I liked was they had the regular and spicy options for each handroll set so that was a nice add. Overall, the handrolls were fresh and tasty but it does get a bit heavy after the 3rd-4th piece since they use quite a bit of sauce and rice in each handroll. I'd prefer if there was less rice and emphasize more on the freshness of the fish instead. I also wished the seaweed was warm and slightly toasted for that extra crunch! Other than that, great spot and would come back!

Omakase by Korami is a delightful gem nestled in Hell's Kitchen, where the vibrant decor sets the stage for an unforgettable dining experience. With a unique approach to sushi, this intimate restaurant offers a compact yet exquisite menu featuring 15 reimagined courses for $89. The atmosphere is lively, with friendly chefs and a soundtrack that includes nostalgic pop hits from NSYNC and Natalie Imbruglia.
Absolutely everything is excellently delicious. I have never tried fish so fresh, buttery, and soft in my life and I don't know if I ever will again, unless I come back here. Every piece is packed with a different flavor that leaves you wanting more. The chefs are really sweet and explain everything they serve you, it's a small intimate location, probably 10 people max so the vibe was chill and a bit refined. But don't be afraid to dress casually. They're also very accommodating to allergies, just let them know once you're there. If you want to do omakase right I highly recommend this place. You can't beat that kind of quality for the price, it really is excellent. Hoping they make a 25 course option in the future, because I'd love to try more!

This omakase was far better than others I’ve tried—even those priced two or three times higher. We came with a group of over 10 people, so we essentially had a private dining experience, which made it even more enjoyable. Although the seating is limited to an hour and the pace is quick, it’s more than enough time if you’re looking for high-quality sushi. The pieces came one after another, each just as delicious as the last. We even added the Surf and Turf at the end, which was the perfect way to finish the meal. Great value, great quality, and a really fun experience overall. I’d definitely go back.

If you’re visiting New York, this is a must-try spot! My husband and I visited this place today for our wedding anniversary, and we were completely satisfied with everything! A big thank you to Omakase by Korami for the clean interior, warm atmosphere, and top-quality fresh sushi. Here, you can enjoy 15 unique pieces of sushi, and especially experience the world’s top three delicacies served as luxurious toppings — truly unforgettable. Thank you to the chef who prepared each dish with such care and dedication during our time there. The non-alcoholic drinks were also very delicious! Thanks to the kind and attentive staff and the delicious food, we had such a happy and memorable day. We’ll definitely be coming back again!

Definitely one of the best omakase experiences we’ve had in NYC!

Quaint little spot! We had reservations for omakase at 10 and it was well worth the wait :). From the sushi chefs to the manager to the other patrons, this was such a pleasant experience and I would come back for more! 15 pieces in 60 minutes, with each bite better than the one before - we left with happy bellies - come here if you get a chance!

I’m absolutely obsessed with omakases—there’s just something about watching the chefs in action and seeing the artistry behind each dish. 🎌✨ Omakase by Korami blew me away with their incredible 15-course omakase for under $100 (yes, under $100!). The quality and variety are unmatched for the price. Highlights of the night? The rich foie gras, the perfectly seared otoro topped with caviar, and the decadent truffle wagyu—I couldn’t say no. 🥩🍣 If you’re in New York, this spot is a must-visit. The flavors, presentation, and value all make it an unforgettable dining experience. Easily one of my favorite affordable omakases.

Sushi W, located on the Upper West Side, offers a contemporary dining experience with a focus on fish and seafood. The restaurant provides an affordable omakase option starting at $54 for dinner and $38 for lunch, with a premium $68 omakase that includes 15 pieces and two hand rolls. Highlights of the menu include torched sablefish, silky unagi, and chutoro sprinkled with salt.
Met up with some friends here. The food was excellent and made right in front of us, which was fun. The price seemed reasonable, and there was an option to reorder any pieces you particularly enjoyed (we did not). My one gripe is the speed. They seem to be fully booked at one hour intervals, so you might feel a bit rushed: the first sushi piece was on our plates before we had properly sat down! Would definitely recommend to fans of fast-paced dining.
Léa K — Google review
The is cozy n cool, I like they have waiting area. Sitting arrangement it was charming. All the fish was good great but some dishes used kind of extra Wesabi. The Sheff were Spanish so some Japanese authenticity was missing for sure and staff was trying there best to read and pronounce the dishes name, kind of with 70% success. Overall the experience is nice and it's with the money with the great Food and experience. Would definitely come back.

A must visit every time for me in New York! It’s my 4th visit and I love it every time. Excellent food and service, they were understanding when part of our party was late to the reservation due to travel delays and tried their best to accommodate. They even gave me tea and crackers while waiting for my friends! Gratuity is included in the price (like how they do it in Japan) which is surprisingly refreshing and touching for NYC. The value is unbeatable for omakase and definitely a must try if you like sushi and want to try an authentic and quality omakase experience without breaking the bank.

Yutong W — Google review
My day started off great. I planned to try two omakase and just came from Tsumo and had a great time. When we went to sushi w the quality of food and service was just terrible in comparison. The ingredients were not fresh and the handling of the sushi was poor. The ingredients were stored right next to the bathroom and the place wasnt clean. The sushi pieces that were being prepared were questionable (from the same bowl that they took the marinated tuna, the chef picked out the top 2 pieces to throw in the trash). I was eating with someone else and noticed none of the pieces were consistent in terms of portion and quality. The cuts were different sizes and other had a mountain of rice. Everything felt rushed and it was just an awful experience. The worst dish was the ikura marinade in cheap sake. The chef hands you a piece of nori and a clump of rice as he puts a random scoop of ikura with a pool of sake that tastes like an oyster shot. This is the first time i left an omakase with food left over. Save yourself the trip and avoid this spot. It feels like I've been cheated with the price and experience. I wouldn't come back.

SHINN EAST is a cozy and intimate restaurant located in the East Village, offering a unique dining experience with its seasonal sushi and selection of sake and beer. The restaurant features two 12-seat bars where guests can enjoy well-seasoned nigiri, toro hand rolls, and premium fish like uni and caviar at an unbelievably reasonable price of $65 for 12 pieces of nigiri and a maki roll.
The sushi was exquisite. The fish was fresh especially salmon. The omakase experience was amazing. We also had sake which paired well with sushi. We went for my birthday and they were kind enough to give a cute sushi cake. The place is tiny so it becomes a bit crowded even for 10 to 12 people at a time.
Kaustubh K — Google review
I visited Shinn East for their omakase during lunchtime on a weekday, and it was a pleasant experience. There were only two parties dining (including myself), so it was very peaceful and quiet, allowing us to fully enjoy our meal without the usual lunchtime rush. The atmosphere was calm, which made for a very relaxed and enjoyable meal. Our server was fantastic—attentive, friendly, and efficient. They kept our glasses full throughout the meal, and their timing between courses was just right, ensuring we had a seamless dining experience. The omakase itself was moderately paced, with limited interaction from the chef. While I personally enjoy a bit more conversation during an omakase experience, I understand that this style suits some diners more. There's nothing wrong with the pacing; it's just an observation. The value for the price was exceptional. At $69 for 13 courses, the omakase is very affordable, and there’s even an option to add additional courses towards the end if you're still hungry. It felt like a great deal, especially considering the quality of the ingredients. As for the courses, they were quite good. The menu included - Hamachi Madai Botan Uni Ikura Zuke Akami Chu Toro Toro Caviar Hotate Saba Kanpachi Salmon Unagi Toro hand-roll Each piece of nigiri was made with a fresh cut of fish, and the flavors were clean and delicate. My personal favorites were the Botan Uni, O Toro Caviar, Ikura, Chu Toro, and Hotate. Each was perfectly prepared and stood out for its freshness and taste. Overall, Shinn East offers an affordable, high-quality omakase experience, and I would highly recommend it for anyone looking to indulge in sushi without breaking the bank.

Food was 10/10 it's so fresh that most of them melted right in my mouth. The staff and chef were kind and explained each food. The only thing I'd recommend improving is the place. It's a bit crowded and tight. Everyone just sat right next to each other. We were so tight that I had to push my chair all the way out to the wall of get in and out. I felt like there was no privacy. Note** Reservation REQUIRED. We noted on the reservation the occasion was for a friend's birthday, and they were so kind to make an extra dish with a birthday candle on top for the birthday guest. Thank you!
Dreamynation — Google review
Good omakase spot, especially for 13 courses. All of the pieces were great, but notable ones were the fatty tuna, the scallop and the salmon one. Also, the sexy big mac add-on was absolutely just decadent, but it's worth for a one-time try if you want to taste what combining a lot of fancy ingredients together is like.
Khoi P — Google review
Rating: 7.5/10 Date Last Visited: 8/23/2025 We ordered the 13 course omakase ($69). Each piece was pretty good, with my favorite being the Hamachi, O-toro, and Hotate. However, I remember the sushi tasting better the first time I went (this is my second time), and I don’t think I would consider this to be above average in terms of my other omakase experiences. While the sushi pieces were good, I’ve had better at other places. For the price, it’s pretty good value but the taste is about average in terms of omakases. Overall, I would recommend trying at least once for the value, but I probably wouldn’t be back often.
Andy L — Google review
Ordered through text, wish they had a better ordering system. I got the everything don and omakase set. Both were amazing quality and tasty. For the price, I would only go for a special treat. You do get premium ingredients though like caviar, wagyu, uni so I would say that the price is fair.

Kura Revolving Sushi Bar is a new addition to the dining scene in Jersey City, located at Newport Tower and boasting a conveyor belt sushi concept. This chain of restaurants has various locations across the U.S., including Los Angeles and New York. Guests can enjoy grabbing sushi from the revolving bar or use touchpad screens to order their desired dishes. The restaurant requires either an app check-in or adding your name to a waitlist outside the door for seating.
My husband and I come here every week, it has already become our tradition. The food is always delicious, fresh and very high quality. I really like that you can order small portions and try different dishes, it is much more convenient than taking one large one. We usually come for dinner, but sometimes I come alone for lunch. It is very convenient! When you come alone, you can almost always sit down right away without waiting. A cozy, stable place where it is always delicious. I recommend it!

this place is very cute and one of the few good places to eat in the area. it’s pretty reasonably priced and you can get full on just a few plates. they also have a decent amount of options for people who don’t eat fish (like me). the wait time can be super long and the tablet outside can really underestimate how long you’ll have to wait however. to get the best experience, i would try to go when it’s not crowded
Sienna B — Google review
Dining experience that’s as much fun as it is flavorful. The conveyor belt — or kaiten — glides past tables laden with sushi, small plates, and desserts, all under protective domes. Guests scoop up items as they pass, and special orders (like ramen) are delivered via a separate high-speed belt or by robot servers .
Alek L — Google review
I am a kura sushi girlie— I’ve been to many kura sushi in NJ and NYC for several years. When Kura sushi first opened, the sushi quality just wasn’t there, but it has drastically improved since then. Overall, this location is pretty standard for the Kura’s I have been to, albeit in a much smaller space. My dad and I had to wait about 20-30 minutes for a spot for two. I tried the special collaboration rolls, none of which I particularly liked. They tend to be heavy handed with the sauce for the rolls. The sashimi slices are also just a bit thinner than other locations I’ve been to. If you have the choice, make sure you sit in an optimal spot so you can actually get the sushi on the conveyer belt. Kura is a bit overpriced to me nowadays, so I don’t go as often, but I always have a solid meal when I do. Oh yeah, get the crispy rice and thank me later ;)

I recently dined at Kura Sushi, and it was one of the best sushi experiences I’ve had in a long time. From the moment I walked in, the staff made me feel welcomed. The service was attentive without being overbearing, and everyone seemed genuinely passionate about what they The food was outstanding. Each piece of sushi was fresh, beautifully presented, and full of flavor. The variety on the menu was impressive, catering to both traditional sushi lovers and those looking for creative rolls. Everything was clean, organized, and ran smoothly even during a busy lunch rush. It’s rare to see such a well-managed team working so harmoniously. Overall, I highly recommend Kura for anyone looking for high-quality sushi, top-tier service, and a welcoming atmosphere. Definitely coming back soon!
Shelawn T — Google review
This is my second time at this Kura location and I found the quality decreased significantly since my last visit. The fish was very thinly sliced with 2x the rice. My favorite was the seared scallop with Japanese mayo but when requesting "light rice" it seems like they just threw the scallop on top of some rice. Additionally, there was barely any sushi on the belt. A majority of my plates had to be ordered manually which took away from the experience. For $3.95 a plate, it was very disappointing.
Karissa G — Google review
I come to Kura quite often, the dinning experience is getting worse. Today I ordered delivery at 620pm, while the app marked as delivered at 711pm, the food was still at the restaurant when I called them. I called them again ad requested a refund at 745pm since the food was still not yet picked up and beyond their suggested delivery time. The store manager already acknowledged the refund, and suddenly at 821 pm I received a text for my food being picked up. At the end I needed to call the store again to clarify and requested refund again, and explained to the store manager I am not going to eat the sashimi that sat in room temperature for almost 2 hours. I do not know whether they will refund me and I needed to help them throw away the sashimi that I put order 3 hours ago. The logistics and management are terrible.

Came here with my dad for his first omakase experience - made a reservation for 7 but showed up around 6:30 and were seated immediately! We had so much fun here! The hostess was kind and the chef preparing our food was kind and incredible at his craft. Our water cups were always filled which is always a nice touch. It’s really simple and clean inside with chill music which added to the ambiance. The plates were tasty and gorgeous!

My siblings and I went here for my birthday dinner when we were visiting and were greeted warmly at the door. The staff was so kind and helpful, they always asked us how we were doing and if we needed anything, and the service overall was great. One thing that stood out to me was that when the chef realized that I was left-handed, he started positioning the rolls for me in a position where it was easier for me to pick up with my chopsticks. Such a small little detail, but one that I noticed and appreciated so much! Even when I was in Tokyo, the chef sometimes forgot to give me the roll the left-handed way. My siblings told the staff that it was my birthday, so towards the end of the service, they dimmed the lights, played In da Club, and gave me a sparkler to play with, as well as an extra roll. The nigiri itself was delicious, the fish was so fresh and flavorful. My favorite was the Toro & Caviar and A5 Wagyu & Uni pieces. My experience here was great and I would highly recommend this establishment!

Shiki Omakase completely blew me away — this place sets a whole new standard for sushi. Every single bite was perfection, but the wagyu and toro topped with caviar honestly changed my life. The texture, the flavor, the melt-in-your-mouth richness… I still dream about it. You can tell the chefs here care deeply about every detail — from the freshness of the fish to the pacing of the courses. It’s refined but not pretentious, and every plate feels like a work of art. And the best part? For the quality and experience you’re getting, the price is unbelievably reasonable. I kept thinking, “How is this not double the cost?” I’m already plotting my next trip back to NYC just to eat here again. If only Shiki would open a location in California — I’d be their most loyal customer. 10/10, completely unforgettable experience

Everything at Shiki Omakase is excellent. The fish is fresh, the execution is precise, and the experience is consistently high quality. I truly don’t understand the negative reviews. I’ve eaten at many high-end sushi spots, and Shiki stands strong among them in terms of quality. Some people seem to judge the sushi based on how much the chef interacts with them. Really? It’s a sushi counter, not a Broadway show. The chef is there to prepare your food, not to entertain you. If you’re looking for a performance, try a comedy club or a strip club. The chefs at Shiki are kind, respectful, and yes, they do talk to you. But they also understand that this is your dinner, not an interview. They focus on giving you a great meal and a calm, elevated experience. If you’re looking for top-quality sushi at a fair price, come here. It’s absolutely worth it.

Quality of fish speaks for itself! Love the atmosphere/interior here (lunch and dinner) - so refreshing compared to other „dark“ Omakase places trying to be fancy. This is one of the few places I always come back to when visiting New York and it never disappoints 🤩

This was the first Omakase experience and it was amazing. I reserved this place for my partners birthday and they did not disappoint! One of the first things I noticed was the attentive staff and the attention to detail. Our reservation was for 5pm and we arrived 10 minutes before they opened and patiently waited outside, the host actually invited us in before they opened. We chose the 17 course and OMG I liked each and every piece. The drinks were also very good and paired well with our dishes. My partner had a great time and also loved the experience. Will we go again? YES! honestly this place is a bit dangerous because it is so easy to spend a lot but we did not regret it!
Tee — Google review
Good, not great. The rice was heavily over salted which took over the flavor profile. Recommended by an acquaintance as her favorite mid-level lower Manhattan omakase, but I only had time for one omakase in NYC and I wish I went elsewhere. I’m sure there are better places for the money. Some dishes were better than others, and overall it was better than what I can get in my state (a state with limited options), but the salty rice affected every dish in a major way. It wasn’t a bad flavor, but overwhelmed the fish. To be honest, my chef was too young also. Doesn’t inspire confidence.

Thirteen Water is a new addition to the East Village's thriving omakase scene, offering a unique sushi experience. With only six seats, the restaurant provides an intimate and personalized dining experience, allowing guests to witness the sushi masters' finesse up close. The creative array of toppings enhances the nigiri without overpowering the fish, and the otoro is particularly recommended. The energy and perfectionism of the chefs are evident in their techniques and immaculate workstations.
Thirteen Water is an unforgettable dining experience and our go-to spot for special occasions. The chefs are incredibly attentive, and the menu is full of creative, one of a kind flavor combinations you can’t find anywhere else. Every course bursts with freshness and balance, showcasing top-quality ingredients prepared with care. The experience feels focused and intentional—you’re there to enjoy the food, not get distracted with extras. Service is quick, the atmosphere is comfortable, and every visit feels like a treat.

Incredible. *checks notes* No notes. Not a "traditional" omakase offering but the choices of toppings and flavor combinations resulted in a tasty experience. Each piece was perfectly balanced with just the right amount of soy sauce, wasabi, and seasoned rice. The fish was all served at roughly room temperature which meant each bite literally melts in your mouth. The entire set was well thought out and my personal favorites were the torched otoro with chutoro and caviar, the hamachi with torched shishito, and the unagi. Looking forward to coming back here on my next trip to NY!

I came here for omakase and was thoroughly impressed. I’ve done a lot of omakase throughout NYC. This was one of my favorites. The pieces were delicious and super fresh. They came out very fast, one after the other showed up on our plate. The service was great. Definitely recommend.

Sushi is super fresh and very well prepares each piece had several aspect to it creating a balance of flavors in every single course. The drink menu has a variety of options and the very cozy dining room allows for each guest to feel like they are the center of attention.

Today was my second time dining at thirteen water, and as usual, it was busy, a testament to the diners' trust in the restaurant. The chef is incredibly knowledgeable about the ingredients, and the different sauces bring out the unique flavors. Every bite of sushi is a true delight. Mandy, our waitress, was incredibly patient, and the yuzu sake she recommended was delicious. 10/10! 10/10! 10/10!

Amazing Omakase Without the Crazy Price Tag Thirteen Water is such a great find! For $75, you get 13 pieces of delicious, quality sushi—and honestly, every single one was a hit. The toppings were super creative (like garlic chips, roasted tomato, and even truffle), but everything still felt really balanced and fresh. The space is cozy, and the vibe is chill and welcoming. The chef was super friendly, and the staff made the whole experience smooth. It’s a one-hour seating, but it didn’t feel rushed—just really well-paced. If you want awesome omakase in NYC without spending $200+, this is the spot.

Love the quality and menu for the price ($85/person and we did one handroll for $10), but it was kind of comical how fast they churned us in and out! They do seatings every hour so at 7:55 they were like BYE haha. I'd come back though, everything was so delicious.

Takumi Omakase is a popular choice for those seeking an affordable yet high-quality omakase experience. Priced at $89, the omakase menu includes three appetizers, 11 nigiri pieces, and one hand roll. The restaurant's cozy atmosphere and attentive staff make it a great place for special occasions like birthdays. Additionally, Takumi offers a BYOB policy allowing guests to bring one bottle of their favorite drink.
Amazing omakase! Very nice chefs and servers. The food is incredible. They have rotating specials you can try after you finish the courses. Highly recommend this restaurant!

🦋 I could honestly eat this every single day. The food at Takumi Omakase was so fresh, so diverse, and absolutely wonderful. From yellowtail to shellfish, shrimp, and even beef options, every dish was crafted with so much care. We had something tailored to us based on our preferences, and I enjoyed every single bite. The chef was amazing, and the whole experience felt special from start to finish. Such a perfect spot to unwind after work or fuel up before a night out—I went at 6:15 PM and it set the tone for a great evening.

A very good Japanese Omakase on its price point. The chef carefully presented each dish to your plate with explanations. The portion of each dish is decent. It gives a sense of the copycat of Japanese Omakase. The whole meal didn't fill me up.
Jimmy L — Google review
I had really high hopes for celebrating a special birthday with dinner here. While the food was tasty, there were too many bumps otherwise and I left disappointed given the price point that was spent here. I made the reservation a week in advance, and an hour before I was charged a cancellation fee of $50 totally unprompted. I was already on the way to the restaurant so this was cause for stress especially because it was a special occasion. I was never refunded for the charge. When I arrived there was no host to help us and one server on the floor that was kind but very stressed. When I explained our situation she said she'd "try to squeeze us in" and had us stand there for 15 or more minutes while trying to clean and serve people at the same time. As we waited to see if we would even have a spot at the bar, multiple other parties came in complaining of the same cancellation problem. Everything worked out and we were all able to be seated but there was not so much as a "Sorry that happened, that was a mistake. You still have a spot at the table" - this place was lacking in hospitality and could have used a host or manager on the floor. Dinner service was good, for the price you get ok value with the pieces you are served. We opted for a bottle of sake and a few extra pieces at the end of our meal. They even brought out a special treat with a candle for our birthday, which was appreciated. All in all, I would not recommend for special occasions. They seemed short staffed and flustered, and I was never refunded for the unprompted cancellation. When I am spending over $300 on dinner, I expect basic restaurant etiquette and hope for even better.

Takumi Omakase is the best affordable choice for an omakase experience in NYC. They offer a $89 15 course omakase and a cheaper and a cheaper off menu omakase for slightly less and two less courses. Each hand crafted course is meticulously prepared in front of you and explained. Everything we tasted was extremely delicious and fresh. The flavors were unique and thoughtfully constructed with flavors and texture playing wonderfully together. You can ask for the amount of wasabi to be adjusted to your preference too. Takumi also offers complementary sake which was delicious.

Kazumi Omakase, located in Greenwich Village, offers a meticulously attentive dining experience for its $75 price. The hour-long meal features 12 pieces of nigiri made with classic fish like kanpachi, madai, and various tuna fatty levels. The finale is a delightful yuzu Basque cheesecake. Unlike other spots, Kazumi focuses solely on the chef's skill and the quality of the fish without any gimmicks.
$75 for 13 courses sushi omakase. Quality is above average. The only thing is I prefer something pure and traditional. For example I love sweet shrimp and uni. But I don’t like when they are mixed together. It is distracting and I can’t feel the pure sweetness from both shrimp and uni. But overall the fish, the seasoning, the presentation is great. The scallop was my favorite!!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️🌟 Clearly this restaurant is beyond 5 stars! Blown away by their 13 course sushi meal. The best meal ever!! How the chef handles each piece of fish delicately and prepares it so carefully and beautifully…almost like a poetry. Each course has one unique ingredient which takes it to a whole new dimension. The top quality fish and the A5 wagyu are at the center of it all. This is an experience in itself.
Sangeeta J — Google review
I came here for dinner and enjoyed my experience! Located in the west village, this cozy spot has both bar and table seating. When we came, we booked at 7:30pm reservation, but they accidentally had it down as 7pm and booked another table at our seats at 8pm. So unfortunately, we weren't able to sit at the bar the entire time and had to be moved to a table. Not the biggest deal, but I think I would've enjoyed my meal a lot more at the bar. Otherwise, service was great. They were attentive and I also loved how they didn't put the next course onto your plate until you've finished your most recent one (some places stack them and it feels rushed). We did their 13-course omakase and everything was delicious! I thought their cuts were thick, and the rice ratio was perfect. My favorite pieces of the night were the salmon and uni (which they stacked with so much uni). Everything was fresh and I absolutely loved it. Would recommend this spot as a more affordable omakase that definitely gives a higher-end experience!

I recommend Kazumi for a high quality and affordable omakase in Greenwich Village. For $75 per person, you get a delicious 13 course omakase. Each piece was made with care and beautifully presented. From wagyu and toro to uni and ikura, I loved how fresh everything was. This is definitely one of my top 3 omakase spots in New York.
Farrah C — Google review
Impressive omakase, great value. The main difference with other omakase restaurants in the area is how the chef processes the ingredients. The cuts and the grill make everything how it’s supposed to be, tender or chewy. The Otoro had completely no fiber-ish texture at all that it almost melted in the mouth. The A La Carte menu was also extensive and creative, with the one I tried: the Big Mac. Rice Cracker wrapped minced otoro, wagyu, caviar. Definitely 10/10. Overall vibe was welcoming, and it was also quiet enough to enjoy the experience.
Zhitong L — Google review
The dinner at Kazumi was one of my few experiences of omakase. While I was impressed with the freshness of the food, I was not particularly fond of the service experience. I am not very familiar with Japanese dining manners, but I deeply respect them and am eager to learn. I was dining with a friend, and we were speaking a non-English language. Throughout the omakase, the chef had been speaking to us in English. However, at one point, he switched to our language to tell me not to place pickled ginger on top of the sushi, explaining that in Japanese dining culture, ginger is consumed between courses to refresh the palate. While this might have been intended as a considerate gesture, I found the phrasing and tone condescending and unnecessarily demanding. It left me feeling embarrassed and uncomfortable and made me cry. This detracted from what should have been a special and enjoyable experience. I suggest in the future chefs are trained well to handle situations like this. Thanks.
Jiarong G — Google review
I’ve had sushi at 8AM in Tsukiji Market in Tokyo as the fisherman are just returning with their catch…..this was better. The difference is the way they match the perfect garnishes to make the flavor explode and then hit you in waves. Wayne showed straight up artistry in our preparation. The energy of the whole place was cool excitement followed by joy after each course. You could hear people enjoying themselves one by one. Might have ruined sushi elsewhere for me. Price was more than reasonable. They even sang me Happy Birthday, gave us champagne, and the lightest, most moist Teramisu birthday cake. Perfect dinner. Will be back.

Kazumi is a very special place. The VALUE of this omakase set is truly unmatched. Sushi Kai, located in Fort Lee, offers a high-end dining experience with its strictly omakase style service. The restaurant operates on a reservation-only basis and provides a 90-minute seating limit for each party. Priced at $155 per person, the tasting menu includes appetizers, sashimi, nigiri, and dessert featuring fresh seasonal ingredients.
I’ve had my eye on Sushi Kai for quite some time, but only now did I finally get to try it out. I’m a big fan of omakase, but it does tend to get pricey. Sushi Kai is a great “affordable” alternative if you’re trying to have high-quality sushi, without breaking the bank. Their omakase course comes with a three piece entree, 12-15 courses, and a hand roll, all for $85 per person - not bad! Once I entered, I really liked the cozy and chill vibe. Made the dining experience really comfortable and relaxing. And of course, the food. I was very surprised by the quality and freshness of the fish. All were super soft and melted in your mouth. Paired well with the perfect amount of rice and garnishes. The rice to fish combo was spot on - a lot of places will often go too heavy on the rice and it overpowers the fish, but the sushi chefs here do. A great job and creating the ultimate balance. Soju selection was good too and reasonably priced. I got the Dassai 39 bottle and it was very good, sweet and silky, paired very well with the fish. Great experience and awesome sushi. Will be back!

Sushi Kai in the East Village is an absolute hidden gem for sushi lovers! From the moment you walk in, the cozy vibe and friendly staff make you feel right at home. Their sushi is unbelievably fresh—every bite practically melts in your mouth, and the chef’s creative twists on classic rolls keep things exciting. The omakase is a must-try if you want the full experience—it’s like a flavor journey straight from Tokyo. Whether you’re here for a casual night out or a special dinner, Sushi Kai delivers that perfect mix of quality and East Village charm.

Cozy, friendly spot with fresh fish at a good price. The nigiri toppings are minimal but pair perfectly. Fave is the salmon nigiri with the tomato on top, and of course the Uni. Chef accommodates allergies or dislikes and makes great selections (and is very friendly). I frequent a lot of omakase spots in the city, and this is a good weekly spot. The only thing I'd change is the first dish appetizer - it's unnecessary and isn't as good as the rest of the experience. Love that it's BYOB also! It's definitely fast but that's what omakase is. Didn't feel overly rushed. @ eva.on.eats for more recommendations!
Eva S — Google review
Positives: the service and atmosphere are great. The waitress was very friendly and quick on water refills. Negatives: the fish is just not good. They toast the top of almost every dish and/or douse it in yuzu / lemon / wasabi. The fish is not fresh and tastes low quality. The hand roll even has something akin to garlic powder in it. The food overall is below mid and not worth the 100 per person after tax in my opinion. They are cutting corners with ingredients and also with customer time (typical omakase is 90 minutes. Here is 60 to get more clients in and out). I actually didn’t mind the shorter time frame because as more dishes came out, couldn’t wait for it to be over and leave…
Gloria G — Google review
We went here on a Friday evening for the $85 15-course omakase that included an appetizer, 10 nigiri, uni ikura don, and a hand roll. Also got Japanese beers and a small bottle of dry sake to share. The chilean sea bass was my favorite as part of the appetizer and the uni ikura don. Tbh, none of the nigiris really stood out for me since it was a bit hard to taste the fish and somehow tasted all similar since all of them either had caviar, truffle and/or ponzu sauce on it. The pieces were also very small which left us hungry at the end. The chef and server were very friendly and attentive. The space is small and the seats are crammed next to each other which made it awkward every time the server came by to reach over to refill our glass or ask if everything was okay. They will shorten your course if you arrive late to your reservation (which the hostess noted when we called); luckily we made it on time.

Omakase amazingness! Each bite was heaven, loved scallop, various rounds with caviar and with truffle toppers. A small spot with all bar seats so you can watch the magic unfold. Super fresh, price is now $85 for omakase and can BYOB. Did that and then got sake also. Totally worth it dining experience!

This was the most phenomenal dining experience. We did the Omakase at the chefs table and it was remarkable. I have to say it was one of the best meals of my entire life. Every single bite was mind-blowing. Each bite was perfectly curated for a flavorful, delectable experience. The chefs were extremely friendly and skillful. You get to watch the show of the chefs preparing the beautiful sushi as you eat. It’s BYOB and we bought Sale beforehand and it paired perfectly with the sushi. I am still in awe at how amazing this meal is. The intimate setting makes it a perfect spot for a date night or a special occasion. With only $75 for the Omakase menu it’s a great value. We left satisfied and perfectly full. I am still thinking about this meal every day and I cannot wait to go back. I cannot recommend this place enough!!!

I’m very familiar with the chef as I dined in his restaurant many times before. I’m surprised this restaurant has maintained their Michelin star as the food and service was just ok. I’m an avid sushi lover and have been to many restaurants throughout the world. This by far was disappointing, the quality was just ok. The service was mediocre. The amount of food and the quality was just ok. I agree with the other reviews and think at most should cost $200. Nothing was truly amazing. The rice kept falling apart. The pieces weren’t explained to us. I won’t dine here again.

TLDR: Pricey but if you're looking for purist sushi - this is a great choice. Chef Shion does everything solo and his craftsmanship is something to witness over the course of your meal. Not just the nigiri - the ostumami are very memorable as well. Save it for a special occasion but the question is - is it worth it? Yes, it is. Shion was a place I had heard about for a long time and I did have the chance to dine with him at Amane. This is many years ago but he's clearly honed his skillset because this was a very enjoyable meal. Much more traditional than most places, there are a ton of otsumami (starters) followed by the nigiri course. Many of the apps are very unique and super flavorful. I especially enjoyed all the different cooked fish plates with different styles. The uni tasting was great where there were three types of uni, including one from his hometown. The shari (as expected) was excellent, nice texture and chew - not too salty/sour. All the nigiri was excellent, the aji and kohada were especially noteworthy. Just the flavor profile, the mouthfeel, the bite - outstanding. The standout for me was the temaki. It's what really blew me away. This is the cylinder-shaped hand roll and it's packed nicely with a very fatty tuna mince. What's different is he uses chopped raw onion, which balances this out so beautifully. I would put this in the top 3 hand rolls I've ever had, might even be the best omakase temaki. This a traditional place and definitely on the more serious side. Very light music, piano jazz as is typical. If you're looking for a "vibe" - this is not the place. If you're hear to really bask in sushi perfection, then you've found the right one.

Dining at Shion is an intimate and unique experience. The course integrates specialties from a wide variety of cities across Japan including chef Shion's hometown of Kumamoto. One can tell that he sources his seafood carefully and personally. There were many dishes that I hadn't seen in an omakase course before. I liked that he gave us the uni tasting earlier in the evening (I often find that chefs save it for later on when I'm too full to truly enjoy it). Shion is a friendly and informative chef. Each dish came with a thorough explanation and he crafted everything with care and detail. After our meal he was happy to take a photo with my partner and me. In a city where middling quality omakase has had a recent boom, Shion's quality and prestige stands out, and its high price tag is, in my opinion, justified. I will be back on a future special occasion.

Shion is all about the quest for subtle perfection and harmony. It’s a quiet, comfortable, and intimate space to enjoy, appreciate, and focus on the food. Nothing is fancy, over the top, and glitzy, but every bite, every dish, and every piece of nigiri is just about perfectly balanced, deeply rich in flavor and texture, absolutely fresh from the best possible ingredients. I am deeply appreciative of the quality and of the work that went into preparing it.

As a solo diner I sometimes get sat at the end of omakase counters but here I was dead center with chef which was much appreciated. Highlights were the kawahagi, monkfish liver and ebi shrimp. Sushi was good but terrible service. They need hospitality 101. I ordered a glass of wine and there were cork powder inside, I had to ask to change to a new one and the lady gave such an attitude to us (I had to change three times since the lady was kept pouring from the same bottle with cork powder inside to a new glass) Also, once the chef put wrong sushi to our plate (the one that should go to the next table), and when we said we already had the same one, he simple picked the sushi and put it down to our next table's plate - our plate was not clean after touching it with hands and chopsticks few times. Also they didnt care about allergy information we noted in the reservation page. Overall it was good sushi coming with a terrible service.

Heavenly fresh fish, so tasty. Every pieces were melting once it came inside of mouth. BYOB is a plus. Our chef & server were so friendly and kind. We had such a wonderful experience in here. Will def be back!

We are at the bar. The food was excellent, for sure. Again, magnificent taste and texture. My friend decided to go from 10 to 15 pieces and told the chef that only he wanted to make this change. After what surely was less than 15 pieces, we received a bill that charged 15 each. No doubt, the massively language-challenged chef had problems with our language. They only relented when I raised my voice in protest. LEARN ENGLISH! Would go back, however!

I’ve recently been on an Omakase kick and this place is a must try. Gotta love that it’s BYOB and to make things even better, there’s a liquor store across the street. We started with some edamame and the tuna & avocado in soy apps. Both were great. For dinner we tried the 10 piece chef selection that comes with a hand roll. All 10 were chefs kiss 🤌🏻🤌🏻 The spicy scallop hand roll was so good I had to order 2nd. Lovely spot and have been back multiple times.

Sushi AMANE is an exclusive 8-seat omakase counter located within Mifune, offering multicourse sushi menus. Since its establishment in 2017, it has gained a reputation as one of the most beloved Japanese restaurants in NYC. The chef's favorites menu comes at a high price, but there are also more budget-friendly options available from their impressive a la carte selection.
This is the highest quality sushi I've ever tasted in New York. Except for the first appetizer, which was not ideal, the other appetizers and sushi were much higher quality. The chef's skills are also very outstandingly. I will come to this restaurant again.

Easily one of the best omakase meals I’ve had. From the food, service, even the little details - everything was INCREDIBLE and we couldn’t recommend this place more. We only wish we lived closer to go often but will come back anytime we’re in town. I especially love how much the chef cares about the ingredients and has a unique spin on certain dishes that make it so memorable. If you’re on the fence you should definitely give it a try.

Had a great meal here on my wife’s birthday. We had three other diners in our seating so a total of only 5 diners. As their previous chef had just recently left, we were served by their new chef that had just arrived two weeks ago (obviously with extensive prior experience from Japan). Chef and staff did not disappoint and just about everything was on point.

We’ve been to Sushi Amane several times — even under different chefs — and it remains one of our favorite omakase spots in the city. The fish is top quality, the small seasonal dishes are refined, and the pacing always feels just right. We love omakase in general, and Amane’s relatively fair price point makes it a place we return to again and again. Consistently satisfyiny.

An intimate omakase experience with only eight counter seats in a hidden basement of the restaurant. The chef was friendly and welcoming, and each dish was crafted with meticulous care and stunning presentation. I especially loved the steamed abalone, uni rice, otoro nigiri, uni nigiri, and the hand roll at the end. The course was served at a perfect pace, and the attentive service and cozy atmosphere made for a wonderful meal to celebrate a special occasion.

The sushi was truly authentic and of high quality. The chef and staff were warm and attentive, making it a great experience. Perfect place for a date — I’ll definitely come back again.

It was first time for us to visit here after the chef changed. We were kind of in doubt after the original chef left but we can gladly say they kept the quality up. Each sushi is really great and the small dishes were amazing too especially the Uni rice was to die for. Chef is really friendly and fun to talk to so it’s perfect for solo diner too. Very cozy private restaurant so it’s good for solo or a date or very very small groups.

Price is okay, decent for a Michelin. Food tastes pretty good and is visually pleasing. The servers and chef are very attentive to details. However, both of us had extreme diarrhea after the meal with no allergies to food. Still on the toilet after 1 day. Questionable quality and freshness.

If you're on the hunt for an authentic Japanese dining experience in NYC, look no further than Uogashi. This down-to-earth seafood restaurant is a haven for sushi lovers, offering a delightful omakase menu that showcases the chef's favorites. The ambiance is versatile; you can choose to enjoy your meal at cozy tables or opt for a more interactive experience at the long sushi counter where you can watch skilled chefs craft each dish right before your eyes.
This place is so good! My friends and I got the sashimi platter and the fish were so fresh! The sake is good as well. Our server was very hospitable which made the experience so much better. He took time to explain everything. We really appreciate that. Highly recommend for anyone around the area looking for a good sushi place!
Rocky R — Google review
Located near the heart of midtown, you would hope that the omakase experience would match its pricing with its quality and freshness. The pricing is on the higher end of omakase experiences, especially given the saturated omakase market all over NYC. Although there are definitely pricier options elsewhere, I can honestly say that I had better omakase experiences at lower costs than at Uogashi. The selection were less than mediocre and the freshness of the fish was suboptimal at best. You can see from the pictures that most of the pieces were typical omakase selections, with the exception of the conch, which was a refreshing touch but that was the only one. None of the other pieces left us feeling satisfied and maybe that's our fault for having our hopes up given its relatively high rating...but it was overall a very underwhelming experience. I honestly would not recommend this omakase experience unfortunately, for there are so many better selections out there where you don't feel cheated for the price you pay! Thank you for reading and good luck (:

My wife and I come here on special occasions to get omakase. For the omakase, I recommend the bar seats where the chef will make everything in front of you and explain each item that is served. They are professional, personable, and attentive to your every request. All the fish are imported from Japan and the food is of course top quality. Although its a but pricy, just thinking about the whole experience puts a smile on my face and I am happy to pay for it. If you are looking for a total omakase experience, this is the place to go!
SM C — Google review
Amazing service and food. This omakase is more similar to a traditional, full service Japanese omakase compared to the quicker, cheaper, and more modern ones you see here in NYC. I really enjoyed the appetizers and every piece was delicious and meticulous. Waiters were extremely professional and polite. Would 100% recommend!

We stumbled upon this place as we ate at a place across the street a week ago (Carla). Last night we decided to go in and we were happy we did. We order the Omakase-IKI and the Omasake-Taukiji. Sit at the bar as the service allows for a one-at-a-time serving. Meaning you don't get all the sushi at the same time. My wife and I are extensive sushi eaters...this one is definitely a great place. Even the usual fish (like mackerel ) that is oily was not due to the freshness and the manner of preparation. Also, everyone who eats sushi knows they need soy sauce. Not here-the manner of the rice and sushi preparation allows you to enjoy the fish on its own merit.

Absolutely divine. Service is excellent, sushi chefs are incredibly talented, and food is unbelievably delicious. We got the Omakase and loved it! Highly recommend!

Finally came back for their Omakase Iki, which was one of the best Japanese meals we've ever had. At the level of Katsu in Chicago. The 10 course of nigiri was of course the highlight, but pictures are mostly of the items before and after, since it seemed rude to interrupt chef's pacing by taking pictures. Chef did give us an extra treat when it came to multiple courses of uni - which was amazing. We got the sashimi up front. We always love well made chawanmushi. The fried shrimp head was lovely. Got some tempura at the end for some extra oil/fat since the meal was so clean. Also some green tea ice cream. Previous review: Need to come back for their Omakase. Had the chef's choice for lunch (Matsu set) and it was awesome. Fish collar appetizer was amazing. The texture of their chawanmushi is just right. $30 corkage for a bottle of wine in 2020 - since updated to $40 corkage, which is completely fine by me!
Louis K — Google review
Great Japanese food. They were informative. This restaurant also had Chawanmushi, a savory egg custard, that my daughter's always wanted to try. The authentic sushi was good, shrimp was good. The teriyaki salmon was delicious. The miso soup was good. We had no reservation but that wasn't an issue. The waiter was nice and did a good job too. The panna cotta with strawberry sauce was really good. And, I never was a big fan of matcha, but this matcha ice cream and matcha cake was amazing too. I also liked Sake. Great spot for traditional Japanese cuisine.

Noda is an exclusive sushi bar located on West 20th Street, offering high-end omakase dinners in a plush and stylish setting. The restaurant features a separate lounge area and a semi-circular 10-seat counter where guests can enjoy a theatrical dining experience. Formerly from Tokyo, chef Shigeyuki Tsunoda leads the culinary show, presenting an edomae-inspired omakase menu that includes around 20 bites for $315.
A wonderful and memorable meal and night. From food to service the entire meal was excellent. The 22 courses is well balanced and perfect amount of food. And for those who enjoy omakase the experience still helps teach you more about the meaning and process behind everything chef tsunoda does. The restaurant is just as beautiful in person too. We will be back for sure.

This is such a special place — you're in for a treat! We've been coming here for our anniversary for the past two years and it's wow'd us each time. There are only two seatings a day and 8 seats in the entire restaurant, so a very intimate experience. The chef and staff are chatting with you the whole time and are so knowledgeable and talented. They often research their guests as well — they knew all about my partner's work and running hobby. (I guess I was harder to find info on!) The food (as well as sake/wine pairing, which I highly recommend) is SUCH an experience. The best sushi I've had, hands down. Everything is presented so beautifully as well — each new sake and/or wine is brought in a new gorgeous glass. This is always at the top of my recommendation list for friends and family seeking the right spot to celebrate a special occasion.

Absolutely outstanding experience from start to finish. The food was exceptional, with every detail thoughtfully executed. You can truly see the chef’s pride and precision in every dish—it’s a pleasure to watch him work. The general manager, Tim, deserves special mention. He’s incredibly knowledgeable, attentive, and ensures every guest feels taken care of. The sake pairing was one of the best I’ve ever had and I would highly recommend adding it to your experience. Overall, Noda delivers an unforgettable dining journey. I can’t wait to come back on my next getaway to New York.

I had a best experience with this omakase. First, the food was amazing, 20 course menu including sushi and appetizers, all really good, well balanced! Secondly, the service was amazing, chef, bartender, and hosts were all friendly and welcoming and we felt really comfortable and had a good time! Third, atmosphere is amazing! Very unique and I feel like different from other normal sushi omakase for sure! I can’t wait to come back again!

My girlfriend and I have slowly been making our way through the plethora of omakase restaurants in NYC. I reserved this tasting counter for her birthday and we were not disappointed. This was the most high end tasting we’ve done, yet the staff and the chef did not make the environment feel rigid or too proper. They were professional yet personable, very knowledgeable and made the experience an incredibly fun time for all. They kept things loose, for lack of a better term. The chef had a great charisma and you could tell he took such pride in his work. The food, immaculate and well done. At one point the chef asked if there was too much or too little wasabi in the nigiri. I simply replied “it’s perfect” because he was a true master of his craft. The environment was incredibly welcoming and it felt as though the staff loved what they did. We received a complimentary glass of bourbon and white wine for my girlfriend’s birthday, a wonderful end to the night. The pictures I took are limited as I try to immerse myself in the experience while I’m there, but the food was too beautiful not to grab a few pics. Well worth the money, do not hesitate to book!

Noz Market, located in the Upper East Side, offers an affordable omakase experience with a 10-seat rear counter and a four-person stand-up hand roll bar. The restaurant was relaunched by the co-owners of Sushi Noz as a casual omakase spot with seasonal seafood selections overseen by former Sushi Noz chef Shigeru Sugano. The 10-course omakase is priced at $145 and features fresh fish sourced from Toyosu Market.
Traditional omakase for $155 for 17 courses or $80 for 10 courses. We ordered the larger omakase and requested 2 additional pieces. The fish was super fresh and we were given very generous portions. The quality and size of the pieces made it feel like a $250 omakase. The vibe of the restaurant was a lot more casual than I was expecting. I was severely overdressed. All the other patrons were in casual clothes, and it was a more chatty environment than I was expecting. Not an issue, but just to set expectations ambience-wise. I’ve already recommended this place to all my friends. Would come back for high end sushi at a good price in a casual setting.

This was our second visit to Noz Market. They never fail to impress and satisfy. The cuts of fish are large and wrap all the way around the rice. The nigiri are seasoned perfectly, skillfully and with precision. The chefs here truly practice the art of sushi. The two omakase options are reasonably priced, and you can add extra pieces at the end of the experience. My Japanese fiancée emphatically approves, which should tell you what you need to know about this restaurant. Not too difficult to make a reservation a few weeks ahead of time, but definitely make one in advance. We will most certainly return.

Everything was exceptional - the service, the atmosphere, the attention to detail, and of course, the food. Three of us had the Chef’s omakase experience, and it was like watching mesmerizing performance art. A fantastic experience all around.

The space offers two dining experiences: Sushi Noz for omakase and Noz Market for a standing handroll bar. This review is for Noz Market. Space is small ideal for in and out super quick bite. The fish quality is solid, but the preparation was overly salty—even after three glasses of water, I was still thirsty. Even with the $10 happy hour special per handroll, it still feels a bit pricey. That said, service is excellent and fast.
Marie U — Google review
I felt very relaxed in this “market.” You walk in and you can actually buy pre made sushi- seemingly high quality (Atleast the price says so). When you are seated you watch the chef prepare your meal and enjoy a simple yet elegant omakase. For the price, it’s worth it.
Mason H — Google review
Great hand rolls but the staff needs to relax. They are super intense about getting out as fast as possible. I mean… you are standing at a bar with no chairs. How long do they think one will stay? They push hard to get you out, to the point where they no joke asked 4x if we were finish go tell us tha we “could lay whenever we were ready” with beer and other beverages in front of us that we had not yet finished… go but eat slowly and tell to relax and it will be a great experience. Do NOT let them rush you. Also, order as you go! If you order everything at the beginning they will serve you as fast as possible. To the point where you haven’t even finished your last bite of the previous roll and here comes the next one…. If the quality of the rolls wasn’t as good as it is at a fair price this would no doubt be a one star review.
MA B — Google review
I went to the hand roll bar during happy hour. The food was fantastic, but I had to ask to get my hand rolls 3 times before they were made for me. Meanwhile, I watched the other 4 people at the sushi bar get their food without issue. It really made me feel invisible. They need a better system to keep track of orders.

Takeda is a cozy, wood-accented restaurant located on the Upper West Side. Chef Yukihiro Takeda offers an exquisite 19-course omakase experience that includes small appetizers and nigiri, such as nodoguro and kombu-cured red snapper in a roasted red rice sake sauce. The intimate eight-seat counter provides a highly seasonal Edomae-inspired meal that has gained popularity for its fairly-priced menu.
Delicious meal, with the freshest of ingredients and attention to detail. From start to end the dishes were creative - not just in flavors, but also in their delivery and presentation (also appreciated the huge range in dishes). There is also an extensive sake menu! The service was attentive, friendly, and the restaurant has an intimate setting with nice ambiance.

Takeda has completely changed sushi for me. Each piece of fish was so meticulously prepared the fish and rice enter and leave your mouth at the same time. Obviously the sushi is amazing, but you definitely do not want to brush over the cooked dishes either. I especially loved the seared lobster. The sauce is so amazing and the ginger is perfect to cleanse your palate. The 19 course meal is the perfect amount of food. I left feeling completely satiated but if my stomach permitted, I would have ordered everything again haha Highly recommend Takeda to spend a special night with your loved ones! Definitely coming again.

I’m so glad I got to experience such high-quality Japanese sushi at TAKEDA in New York. Having the omakase dinner here was truly a special and memorable experience — I feel lucky to have had the chance. In my opinion, TAKEDA is the best Japanese restaurant in NYC. Not only was the food outstanding, but the atmosphere and attention to detail made me feel deeply connected to Japanese culture. If I ever come back to New York, this will definitely be one of the first places I return to. Highly recommended for anyone looking for an authentic and unforgettable sushi experience.

I have never had such an incredible experience in a restaurant. It was amazing to watch Chef Takeda work. He obviously takes great pride in preparing each dish in a masterful way. The staff were professional and polite; I felt like an honored guest. If you love sushi, this restaurant is a must in NYC.
Becky E — Google review
Arguably the best omakase experience in NYC, this restaurant showcases the masterful artistry of Chef Takeda, a kaiseki-trained chef from Osaka. His expertise in Osaka and Kyoto-style techniques is evident in every dish, setting him apart from even the most renowned sushi chefs in the city. Every piece of fish is meticulously cured—some marinated in fermented rice or kelp, others smoked with wood chips or straw, and some dry-aged for weeks—each method enhancing the depth of flavor. The precision and craftsmanship behind these details result in an unforgettable dining experience.
R W — Google review
Minimal interior and intimate space with no ventilation. Great food and service but it wasn’t worth $280 per person in comparison to omakase we’ve had in Japan, Hawaii, etc. The last course (dessert) was disappointing - blueberry mochi and green tea felt out of place especially given the price point.
Grace S — Google review
I came to TAKEDA after a friend mentioned they were serving ayu, the delicate and seasonal sweetfish of early summer. I'm so glad I listened—it was truly an exceptional dining experience. Ayu was beautifully prepared both as sashimi and in a light, crispy fried preparation. Each showcased the subtle flavor of this rare fish perfectly. Other highlights included a clear soup with a crab meatball, which was refined, warming, and deeply flavorful. The seared bonito was outstanding—lightly smoked with just the right char, full of umami. The sushi courses were all elegant and balanced, with every piece showing thoughtful attention to harmony and texture. TAKEDA offers a quiet, focused experience where seasonal ingredients shine and every dish feels intentional. I’ll definitely be back.

Shota Omakase, located in Williamsburg, is gaining attention for its 18-course traditional Edomae sushi experience at a relatively affordable price. Chef Cheng Lin, formerly of Ito, showcases his expertise with sterling seafood and abundant uni in a modern yet simple space. The 16-seat L-shaped dining counter offers an intimate setting to enjoy the exclusively Japanese-sourced ingredients. Guests praise the flavorful sushi rice and skilled sushi master who provides an informative and entertaining dining experience.
Absolutely had a fantastic sushi omakase experience at Shota Omakase, with exceptional service provided by Chef Bo. Everything was incredibly pure and fresh—you could truly taste the quality of the fish, perfectly complemented by the special rice and just the right touch of soy sauce. The flavor was clean, balanced, and absolutely delicious. What I loved most was the simplicity. Each piece of sushi was crafted with minimal ingredients, yet the taste was extraordinary—so fresh, so flavorful. I thoroughly enjoyed trying all the different pieces, and not a single one disappointed me. Chef Bo was highly professional and clearly skilled, serving each piece at the perfect temperature, which elevated the experience even more. Thank you for the amazing service and unforgettable dinner 😄
Min H — Google review
The BEST dining experience of my life. I commend the chefs for being able to create an incredible experience out of a cuisine that emphasizes purity. They are truly masters of their craft, and it shines through with each and every bite. I also want to thank Brandon, and the entire staff, for delivering on just above and beyond service even for a Michelin star restaurant. My full review of each aspect of the meal: Food: We booked the Gentei Omakase experience and loved every bite. I had very high expectations for the rice with how much they talk about it on the website, and even those expectations were exceeded. The rice is spectacular. When it comes to the fish, it was a wonderful mix of classics like Otoro, and an introduction to new favorites of mine like the Kinki. Each piece tastes delicious and came with the perfect amount of freshly grated wasabi. Understanding the selection was seasonal, the mix was just perfect. There were cuts of perfectly springy texture, melt-in-your-mouth buttery sweetness, and delicate umami flavor. I can’t really put into words how the food had changed my view of sushi forever. NOW, let me talk about the sake pairing. My sake experience was H-Mart sake, so maybe I’m not the expert. That said, this sake pairing has completely changed everything I thought sake could be. Brandon, our sake expert, was kind of enough to dumb down the explanations of all the sake to us, giving us a history lesson on each bottle and helping us learn tasting notes to look out for. I felt like it was like someone showing me a whole new world that I didn’t know existed. If you are reading this, best of luck on the exam next year! I want to thank you for making our evening so special. Service: I may not have the 20+ Michelin meals the other reviewer had, but of the few I have had, this one stands out as by far the best. They were able to blend together an intimate dining experience and a show. It was food with a little showmanship to curate to those who wanted pictures of every piece and those who wanted to just sit and eat. The chefs were attentive, asking questions on taste and consistently giving context to what we were eating. They gave a thorough explanation on the origins of the rice, and even gave context about seasonality of the fish. I felt like I was in a masterclass, being taught by two of the best to ever do it. Then the rest of the wait staff was just absolutely fantastic. They came by with phone rests, and even cleaned up small drops of sauce on the serving plate, to assure it did not compromise the flavor of the next piece. The level of attention was perfect without being over the top. Atmosphere: Simple. Just the way it should be.
Anthony D — Google review
There are two menu options: Premium Omakase - 18 courses featuring small bites, nigiri, a hand roll, and tamago, curated around the best seasonal ingredients. $195 per person. Gentei Omakase - 19 courses led by chef-owner Cheng Lin, featuring rare seasonal fish and premium cuts for a more elevated journey. $255 per person. I chose the Premium Omakase, and every course reflected incredible balance, precision, and freshness. My personal standouts were the hatate (Hokkaido scallop), tamago (egg), and the Japanese crown musk melon since each bite was beautifully prepared and bursting with clean, delicate flavor. What really sets Shota apart from other omakases in New York is the knowledge and hospitality of the team. Our chef, who has over 20 years of experience, shared his passion and insights with us throughout the meal. He explained each piece in detail and even showcased four different types of uni side by side, which was such a treat for anyone who loves uni. The interior is minimalist, clean, and beautifully maintained, allowing the food to take center stage. Service was warm and professional, and the pacing of each course was perfect. I've been to many omakase spots in NYC, but Shota stands out for its attention to detail, high-quality fish, and genuine passion for the art of sushi.

I’ve been raving about Shōta Omakase ever since we left—it was truly an unforgettable experience. I believe our chef’s name was Lin, and he was outstanding: super knowledgeable, engaged, and took the time to explain each cut of fish, where it came from, and how it was prepared. Everything we ate—from the fish to the wasabi, ginger, and soup—was incredibly fresh and made with simple, high-quality ingredients. My favourite pieces were the charred cuts. The service was next-level. The servers were incredibly attentive and pleasant. We left full and completely satisfied. Can’t recommend this place enough!

I had an incredible experience at Shota Omakase last night. I don’t normally splurge on omakase, but this place was completely worth it. The food, the atmosphere, the service, and the overall experience were all exceptional, truly one of the best dining experiences I’ve ever had. The chef was extremely talented and engaging throughout each course, and you could genuinely feel their passion for the craft in every bite. Every dish was beautifully presented and thoughtfully explained, making the evening both intimate and memorable. Whether you’re celebrating a special occasion, trying omakase for the first time, or just treating yourself to something extraordinary, I give Shota Omakase my highest recommendation.

Always looking forward to discovering a unique Omakase experience. Shota Omakase didn’t fail, enjoyed the premium ingredient selection and basked in the awemazing service of the staff.
Angelica D — Google review
My anticipated dining experience at Shota Omakase was tragically derailed before I even stepped foot in the door, and the restaurant's handling of the situation was, quite frankly, inexcusable. I secured a reservation two-three weeks in advance to celebrate a milestone—my wife's birthday. Leading up to the reservation, I received multiple confirmations from the Resy system, which should be more than enough time and security to guarantee a table. Then, just four hours before our reservation, I received a call informing me that a purported "system error" had led to an overbooking. To wait until the day of, and with mere hours to go, to notify a diner of such a fundamental error is a profound failure of operational management. This isn't a simple mistake; it's a display of a lack of respect for a customer's time and plans. While the staff member who called was apologetic and offered to rebook us the following day with complimentary drinks, this gesture felt wholly insufficient for the level of inconvenience and disappointment caused. When a booking for a special occasion is confirmed multiple times, a last-minute cancellation essentially ruins the evening. For a restaurant in this tier, the compensation offered—free drinks—is a paltry gesture. Given the gravity of the error and the special occasion, the appropriate recovery should have been to comp the cost of one person's meal upon rebooking. That would have shown genuine commitment to correcting their mistake. The issue isn't the deliciousness of the hypothetical food; the issue is that a restaurant charging a premium for an omakase experience must deliver premium service at every touchpoint, and that begins the moment a reservation is made. There is absolutely no reason why a fundamental scheduling error of this magnitude shouldn't have been caught days, if not weeks, in advance. Shota Omakase, your "system error" cost me my wife's birthday dinner. You need to do better. Until the reservation process and the customer recovery protocols are drastically improved, I cannot in good faith recommend this restaurant.

Satsuki is a high-end omakase sushi bar located in Midtown and the Lower East Side. The discreet, light-wood space offers an intimate dining experience with a 10-seat bar where guests can enjoy chef's tasting menus. The chef, with over 5 decades of experience, prepares an unbelievable omakase meal with the freshest catch of the day.
The most unbelievable omakase meal I’ve had in NYC. The chef has over 5 decades of experience under his belt and it absolutely shows in every bite of the meal. So much love and care is put into every dish. The fish is always the freshest catch of the day to guarantee the best possible dining experience. You cannot miss this.

I cannot give this enough stars. If you've ever had a meal that filled you with regret because you know that this feeling and this flavor was going to end at some point...this is where you have that feeling in spades. Chef Suzuki-san was friendly, impeccable and creative all at the same time. All the fish sourced were unbelievable and totally different. We have had excellent sushi before, world class sushi, but this was next level. Completely possible that I have had the best meal I've ever had -- and possibly the best meal I will ever have for the rest of my days.

This place was excellent overall. The nigiri and sashimi were fresh and the chef was entertaining. The ambiance was very calming with its wooden decor and intimate, having space for only 8 seats or so. I thought the service could be improved. Our server was fine but not the most friendly. The omakase was well balanced and executed. The dessert at the end was this ice cream sandwich that I thought was very unique and tasty. A great way to end the meal. If you're into sushi, this place is worth a visit.

Perfect experience. From cocktails, service & of course the masters that prepared our sushi; this place hits high marks on every level. There's a great focus on detail & presentation and the fish is delivered daily from Japan. I can go and on, ambiance, decor... very memorable. Thank you for this great experience chefs Sawada & Suzuki!!

Great place for omakase. Otoro (fatty tuna) at this establishment is very unique. It is like butter melting in your mouth. I would recommend the regular sushi than the late night as I think the appetizer and the sashimi plate are well worth the extra money.

An amazing Omakase experience in NYC. It is also a 1-star Michelin restaurant. The sushi is extremely fresh and tasty. They just melted in your mouth! Watching the chef making the sushi is also a great enjoyment. Do book in advance as the sushi bar is small.

Visited here with several first timers eating at omakase sushi restaurant (plus one kosher, which they accommodated if you call ahead). Food is excellent, with beautiful presentations, and nice atmosphere at the counter. Great service and chef took time to explaine the fish and how to eat them (several times to some). It is expensive but we'll worth it as everybody ate everything and had a great time with great review.

Great environment and high quality sushi. We went at lunch time, and the service of the server was just so so, seemed like he was quite busy. There were 7 guests at the sushi counter, he should be the designated server for this area, and shouldn't run around.... especially for such high-end restaurant.

Icca offers an exclusive omakase experience at its sushi counter, accommodating about 8 guests for a personalized dining affair. Priced at around $400 per person, the prepaid meal includes over 20 dishes and lasts approximately 3 hours. The attentive staff and friendly chef contribute to the overall exceptional service. Despite initial concerns about Italian influences, the menu pleasantly surprises with standout dishes like hairy crab pasta.
Icca is my favorite sushiya in NYC. Suzuki-san is a seasoned shokunin that should command respect from any diner that is able to experience his omakase. A multitude of otsumami and nigiri fill the night with immense pleasure for your palate. The signature course of Icca is the awabi liver shari. The umami and textures from this signature course are unbelievably divine and unrivaled. On top of all the culinary mastery, Suzuki-san is a friendly and jovial guy that is a willing conversationalist. I’ve visited three times thus far and always make it a priority to visit any time I visit Manhattan.

What an Omakase Experience! We had an absolutely unforgettable time at this restaurant. Every dish felt like a work of art. The sake pairing and wine selection was spot-on. The ambiance was very inviting. A heartfelt thanks to the Chef and his Sous Chef for their incredible skill and dedication. Their passion for their craft truly shines through in every bite. I deeply appreciated how the Chef respected my dietary restriction of no meat. He thoughtfully crafted an exquisite alternative dish for me that was so flavorful and beautifully presented as the rest of the menu. This level of care and attention to detail truly elevated the dining experience and made it feel personal and unforgettable. If you’re looking for an elevated dining experience with incredible food, great vibes, and excellent drink pairings, this is the place to be. Bravo!

I had my good bye dinner with my manager here. It was absolutely amazing. I like how the food is not strictly traditional. I feel that the chef put a lot of heart and feeling into each of his dishes, which is very special. We tasted an abundance of flavors for all the dishes and absolutely love the chef’s touch of modern innovation. The atmosphere was fun and friendly, which we enjoy as well. My favorite is definitely the unbelievably delicious beef, the Uni and crab pasta, and the melon dessert, which are all refreshing and very enjoyable.

Very nice place! A bit hard to find given being on a Main Street. The interior is welcoming and modern. There were a few minor odd choices for a Michelin star restaurant: disposable chopsticks, and laminated plastic signs on the doors. The food was a fusion of Japanese and Italian cuisine, and felt completely unique. Flavors that i I didn’t know worked together were delicious. Would definitely return.

One of the best omakase experience I ever had in the city! The concept was Italian Kappo (basically italian/japanese style) and every single food I had here was served in a unique way and tasted delicious (if i can have a second round of each item, i definitely would lol). Service was top notch, chef was super friendly and described every single item perfectly. The atmosphere inside was very chill & relaxing so it was perfect for date night. Overall, would highly recommend if you're looking for a unique omakase experience that includes an italian twist to Japanese cuisine.

Every dish was absolutely delicious! About half of the courses were things I hadn’t seen in other omakase experiences — creative flavors with pleasant surprises 🥰. The ingredients were fresh and high quality. I really enjoyed the entire experience and will definitely come back again!

Icca is best known for their Japanese cuisine, but I was introduced to their Italian Kappo Counter by a friend. Italian Kappo Counter (Non-Sushi Course) According to their site, Kappo is a refined, multi-course dining experience that bridges the gap between the formal Kaiseki and Izakaya styles. Originating from the Edo Era, Kappo is a high-class cuisine that grew in popularity during the Taishou and early Showa eras. Tasting course contains the following: Ippakusuisei "Premium" - Fan Lobster, Scallop, Caviar, Udo, Strawberry Haneya - Striped Beakfish, Ponzu Julep Tedorikawa Yamahai - Japanese Blackfin Seabass, White Asparagus Dassai Blue "Nama" - Fennel, Tomato, Julep, Snow Crab, Sea Urchin Jikon "Tokubetsu Junmai" - Cherry Trout, Bamboo Shoots Suirakuten Reserve Aged 20 Years - "Tokachi Herb Beef" Steak Icca Soup Iwa 5 - Bolognese Risotto with "Tokachi Herb Beef" Masuizumi "Kijoshu" - Chestnut, Monaka Roasted Green Tea The Ippakusuisei "Premium" was incredible--delicate seafood paired with strawberry sounds risky, but it all came together beautifully. The Tedorikawa Yamahai was a standout, topped with a generous amount of truffle that elevated the entire dish. Dassai Blue "Nama" leaned a bit more fish-forward, but the flavors were expertly balanced. The Suirakuten Reserve steak was exceptionally tender and full of depth. To end, the Masuizumi "Kijoshu" with roasted green tea provided a perfect balance of sweetness and earthiness--an elegant close to the meal. I cannot speak for the other menu offerings at Icca, but I do believe this establishment has mastered their craft and are able to combine it with creativity. I did not have one bad bite throughout the entire meal.

Sushi Zo is a premier destination for sushi enthusiasts seeking an authentic omakase experience in New York City. With locations nestled in the charming neighborhoods of Greenwich Village and Midtown East, this high-end restaurant offers a serene ambiance adorned with blonde wood and exposed brick, creating a tranquil dining environment. Guests are treated to an exquisite culinary journey that begins with delightful dishes like the Kumamoto oyster, known for its sweet melon notes, followed by beautifully presented sashimi.
Lovely small little restaurant. Head chef Hiroyuki is a delight and was an excellent host for our evening. His pleasant demeanor and quick wit made the experience and food especially enjoyable. Highly recommend. You will feel full and satisfied and wishing you could remember the taste of each individual sushi as it arrived.

It was a special day for me and I couldn’t be happier that I chose Sushi Zo to celebrate the night. Every course was stunning and very impressive. My favorite ones were aji & shima aji that they were the best taste I’ve ever had. The vibe of the restaurant was private and only 7 people were there during the service. Chef Kurosawa and his sous chef made my night. Absolutely recommend.

You must have to love sushi if you plan on dining here. It’s $299/person and omakase only. You can only dine here by making a reservation. If you cancel they will charge you the $299 per person. The sushi is flown in daily from Japan. You get your own personal sushi chef for the evening. I would suggest coming hungry. It is definitely a dining experience for taste, texture and art of the making and presentation of each sushi. With a few glasses of wine and bottled water as well as tip was about $850. It’s quite expensive but I feel that the experience and quality of the food is worth it. It’s perfect for a special occasion. It’s a small establishment. It seats 10 people. It was only my husband and I and another couple. The chef was super nice and watching him prepare the sushi for each course was a treat. The portions and food was just the right amount for me. However , my husband was full but he did eat 3 slices of Joes afterwards. Overall, a once in a lifetime dining experience. The sushi was the freshest sushi I’ve ever ate in my life.

Sushi Ikumi is an omakase experience offered by the team behind Hirohisa, a renowned kaiseki restaurant. With only 10 seats at the counter, Chef Jongin Jeong presents a sequence of three otsumami followed by 13 pieces of sushi, featuring aged tuna and cured fish like kohada and saba. Priced at $220, this omakase culminates with house-made ice cream.
I had a chance to eat here this weekend and Chef Jeong delivered just an amazing line up of 19 beautiful and delicious courses. He started off strong with an egg custard with sweet corn. We’re at the summer peak of corn season and it just captured the essence so well while wetting the appetite for what was to come. From there we moved on to the fish and nigiri courses and they were just so good. The chefs keeps to a traditional style which I very much prefer - just enough to elevate the fish without too many elements getting in the way. The quality of fish was excellent for the price point - some of the plumpest and delicious shrimp I’ve had, an incredible sea perch, and two cuts of tuna from Montauk among my favorites. One of the new dishes for me were cockles which were served live and tasted fresh out of the ocean. No wagyu on the menu here but I think it’s been overdone at omakase restaurants and again, the fish was divine. The atmosphere was perfect for the experience - intimate with just a small simple counter and the chef working his magic. I will return.

Been here three times and honestly this is one of the best omakase in the city. Every dish is art and seafood quality is top notch. Service is wonderful, too. There’s too many omakase doing those “wagyu+uni” or “salmon + turuffle” those kinds of things. I love how Sushi Ikumi only focus on bringing out the best flavor of the fish, and not over complicating it. Highly recommend.
Christine C — Google review
Great experience! The space felt cozy but spacious. Service was very attentive. Compared with other omakase places at similar price point, you get lots of course. All the appetizer/amuse dishes were delicious, especially the fired unagi and the Japanese amberjack sashimi. Super fresh fish and seafood and you get a great variety, and uni from Hokkaido was sweet and creamy. Ikumi also has two seaweed pieces which I don’t see commonly in other places, and both were very flavorful, and my guess is that these are their way to replace the more commonly-seen hand roll. Chef doesn’t talk too much but is very friendly :) Would love to see Ikumi receive a star soon.
Kyle L — Google review
In the age of accelerated inflation, $220pp for quality omakase in NYC w/ thoughtful ingredient selection & top-notch balance between shari and neta is hard to come by. Excellent bang for the buck and would highly recommend.
Joe K — Google review
TLDR: Sushi Ikumi should be in your rotation of sushi bars if it isn't already. Reasonably priced, quality omakase, more traditional style. If you're into more edo-mae omakase, you will love Sushi Ikumi. I'm not quite sure how I haven't written a review about this place. The first time I tried Sushi Ikumi, I couldn't quite figure out why but I wanted to come back. This was in the prime of COVID so I never got to see Chef Jongin's face until quite some time later. Since then, we've been revisiting regularly around every month or so. Sushi Ikumi is a sister restaurant of Hirohisa, so you know they've got great pedigree. What stands out to me is how relaxed the restaurant is and how unpretentious it is. I've come here in a suit for business lunches and also in workout shorts and a t-shirt. You come here to enjoy quality omakase, amongst other likeminded individuals. The shari or sushi rice is top notch. It has that nice depth of umami, some sourness, some saltiness, that perfect al dente texture. No matter how many times I've visited, it seems to get better and chef always finds a way to put something new in the mix. Although we can all enjoy the cheap omakases, ballin' on a budget gets boring. That same progression of wet truffles, lackluster caviar and some random sauce on top of the neta (topping) that's too acidic or too sweet - it just gets repetitive. I've had too many lean tuna cuts with that soggy truffle slice with some chives and mid caviar. There's of course, the signature items. The saba miniature temaki, the nodoguro which is seared just enough to impart that smoky flavor without rendering too much fat. A squeeze of lemon citrus helps make sure that it's a balanced bite. The flesh of the fish is still cool-ish but the outside is just lukewarm. It's not dripping of fish fat with the pillow of sushi rice disintegrating as you rush into your mouth. That final bite of futomaki before you get the house-made ice cream. Yes, I've eaten here way too many times.
Patrick W — Google review
🍣 One of the best Omakaske’s I’ve ever had. They were accommodating to some of the items I don’t eat like shrimp, which I appreciated. The toro was 🤤. Truly some of the best cuts of fish in NYC 🍷 They only had a small selected of wines and sake 📍Great location in Soho, which is hard to find for this quality of sushi. Setting was intimate, quiet, and seating around 12 people max

Sushi restaurant
Noz 17 is a sushi restaurant in downtown New York City with an inventive and daring menu that features pieces of nigiri paired with otsumami, Japanese beer-drinking snacks. The 30-course omakase costs about $400. The restaurant is managed by acclaimed sushi chef Junichi Matsuzaki and has received accolades for its delicious food and creative presentation.
In its current iteration, Noz 17 may be the only sub-$250 sushi establishment in NYC worthy of its Michelin star and is certainly one of the finest in the city. It’s clear that Chef Matsu takes great care in both seasonality and balance in his menu, as well as nods to true Edomae tradition throughout. Our meal started with a perfectly cured Kohada (gizzard shad) and ended with a pillowy, custard-like Tamago (egg omelette), both considered traditional measures of a chef’s skill and yet conspicuously absent from so many so-called omakase restaurants in the city. I actually went back a second time almost immediately because of how impressed I was, and both Chef Matsu and Sous Chef Kenta separately delivered an incredible meal of highlight-after-highlight, including delicious cuts of Kasugo (young sea bream) and Aori Ika (bigfin reef squid), and in Chef Matsu’s case a soft shell crab bouillabaisse that was probably the most delicious otsumami I’ve ever had. Subtle details, such as the delicate roasting of the seaweed over charcoal (Jiro-style, one might say), are where the magic lies. The meal does have some limitations, namely the absence of any significant amount of bluefin tuna (I received only a single piece of chutoro over the course of two meals, and wasn’t particularly blown away) and a high charge of $25 per piece for extra orders. That being said, if you’re looking for a traditional Edomae-style establishment in a serene environment that won’t serve you a blowtorched wagyu-uni-caviar monstrosity or insultingly half-sized nigiri pieces, as seems to be increasingly the norm these days, you can stop searching as I don’t think you’ll find much better and certainly not for under $200. Thank you Noz 17 for keeping the art alive and (relatively) accessible. I look forward to hopefully returning soon!

This place used to be my #1 sushi spot, even more so than Sushi Noz. But this time around it’s gotten so bad.. I’m not sure if the company has lost its passion for hospitality or what. 1. No food preferences offered at all. And if there is something you don’t eat, there’s no replacement. I know it’s omakase, but I’ve gone to dozens of refer only restaurants, 3-star Michelins and non have said no to replacements. And they don’t even care to ask about it including dietary restrictions. 2. Water was not actively refilled. Had Hot water, but second round came room temperature water. 3. The course runs about 18-20 bites compared to about 25-27 back in the days. (2021) 4. Tasted ice in the uni, discounting the overall taste. At almost $600 after tax and tip, it’s not worth it…any 30,000 yen (<$200usd) set in Japan would provide better value and service.

Visiting NYC from Arizona for a business trip and had the opportunity my last night to dine at NOZ 17. Easily the best decision I made during my trip. Incredible hospitality and even better food. My phone was at 12% when I got to the restaurant and the front of house staff was more than happy to take my phone and charge it while dining. With limited space the restaurant feels very intimate and getting to know my fellow guests and chef was a huge highlight. Chef Matsuzaki was very friendly and professional throughout the night, helping guide us through the courses. Hands down the best Scallop and Mackerel I’ve ever had. I look forward to dining at NOZ 17 again with Chef Matsuzaki!

Every dish is crafted with care using top-quality ingredients flown in from Japan, and you can really taste the difference. The drink pairings are spot-on, adding to the experience without taking away from the food. It’s the kind of meal that’s not just delicious, but memorable for the whole vibe and attention to detail.

100% worth it. Food 10/10 I am a fan of everything Noz. We All Gotta Eat Group does it again with this superb omakase experience. It’s a little more experimental, and more varied in piece selection, but a stellar meal nonetheless. Excellent quality of fish of course, but had a greater number of unique dishes and ingredients. Felt like there were fewer nigiri compared to Sushi Noz. I love the way Chef Matsuzaki plays with different textures and combinations of ingredients. I am actually obsessed with the rice. It was warmer than other omakases I’ve been to, and the rice itself was seasoned with the perfect amount of vinegar, slightly sweet, and a perfect complement to the fish. The rice size itself was also not too big, so I was able to eat all 23 pieces. Again, 23 pieces is insane and such a great way to explore the diverse ingredients. I could eat omakase every day for the rest of my life. Omakase list: Japanese winter potato Chutoro: aged one week Yellowtail Stewed octopus Baby sea bream Steamed egg and male snow crab Baby bluefin tuna Monkfish liver, shirako, caviar: a massive piece I attempted to stuff all in my mouth, and it melted immediately Needlefish: surprisingly might be my favorite, loved the ginger flavor Hokkaido uni: classic favorite. SO SWEET Cuttlefish Bottarga: tastes like parmesan, done better than the Italians imo Scallop on scallop Whitefish Gizzard fish with shrimp flakes Clam: Black codfish: seared and topped with homemade sauce Lean bluefin tuna Otoro: love Homemade female snow crab with uni risotto: creamy af Miso soup: made with the bones of the fish, SO SO rich Tamago: best I’ve ever hard, it’s so custardy and literally when I tried to pick it up I embarrassed myself by breaking it in two. I did not want to be perceived at that moment. Chestnut paste dessert Umami go crazy. Atmosphere 9/10 The interior felt more lowkey compared to Sushi Noz, potentially acclimating to the more lwokey vibes of Chelsea. I was wearing a sweater and felt a bit too hot, but other than that, everything was perfect for the meal.1 Service 9/10 Excellent hospitality. Everyone is super friendly and made me feel very comfortable. It was nice that they would say my name before asking me anything, so it felt more personal. I would say the level of service is a little less polished than Sushi Noz, but that is such a high standard anyway. Felt slightly awkward at some times, but overall very homey and very accommodating.

ITO, located in Williamsburg, is making a name for itself with its top-notch omakase experience. Former Ito chef Cheng Lin has introduced an 18-course traditional Edomae menu priced at $175, featuring high-quality seafood such as uni sourced mainly from Japan. The restaurant's simple yet modern space with a 16-seat L-shaped dining counter provides an intimate setting for guests to enjoy the impressive culinary offerings.
My favorite omakase in the city, amazing wine list especially for sushi restaurant. Fun hip-hop in the background, not sterile. The crab caviar hand rolls would likely be my last meal request. Chef Masa and Chef Kevin will entertain you throughout the dinner. Cannot wait to come back.

Beyond the food, the energy of the restaurant was vibrant yet intimate, and the service was outstanding—attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely welcoming. This was my first time experiencing this style of sushi, and I must say, it exceeded all expectations. Highly recommend ITO for anyone looking for top-tier sushi, great vibes, and impeccable service. We have dined at multiple Michelin rated restaurants around the world and can honestly say that this was the best dining experience that we've ever had. From the start, the concept of only opening the doors 5 minutes before seating allows you and the rest of the patrons to gather outside in anticipation, it's a nice way to meet everyone you'll be dining with before sitting down. Once the doors opened they immediately checked us in, took our coats and commented on the reservation notes, wishing me a happy birthday. I was again wished a happy birthday as I was being seated and then a third time by our Omakase chef. The food was incredible and the staff was so friendly. Important note: if you don't like group dining experiences, this is not for you. If you like sitting with and meeting new people with delicious food and attentive service, this experience is well worth the money. While it seems that some reviews comment that they didn't like the food, I am getting the impression that at last parts of the menu change, for example we had a mushroom and truffle soup whereas others mention a miso soup. The rice for the nigiri was warm and fresh, and wasabi was grated right in front of us before being added to our food. Will recommend to everyone I know!

The chef we had was engaging and nice. We enjoyed our time and it was basically just us and another couple. Nice and intimate, will be back again!

I had a wonderful experience at a Japanese restaurant Hōseki in a shopping mall Saks Fifth Avenue's while I was out shopping. The menu was set, and there was no option for a la carte, but that didn’t disappoint me at all. I was served what seemed like 8 or 10 small dishes, along with soup and crafted bites, and each dish was prepared right in front of me. The unique part was that new plate was made while I was still enjoying the previous one, so there was always something fresh to eat. Everything was incredibly delicious, and I even tried some types of fish that I had never tasted before. It was a delightful and flavorful experience that made my shopping trip even more enjoyable!

Fantastic omakase! The price, the quantity and the timing of the meal makes it perfect spot for a quick lunch, but with michelin quality sushi.. The only slight downside I noticed was the soy sauce they used was a bit sweet for my liking. Otherwise, the fish and rice was perfect, and the size of each piece just right. Hope they will be able to do dinner seatings too.

Absolutely stunning meal. 10/10s all around, probably the best sushi I’ve ever had. If you want to try new types of fish but not sure what definitely come here. While the restaurant is in Saks it’s incredibly quiet and private.

Great little hidden sushi spot by the jewelry section at Saks Fifth Avenue. Sushi was fresh and simply prepared which is the way I like it.

12 course Omakase. Around 60min. Intimate setting. The service at Hōseki is spectacular. Staff is super friendly and helpful. The sushi itself is good, and it is def a good midtown sushi lunch option. It is located in the basement of Saks.

Chef Morgan and Chef Ambrely were amazing. They put so much thought into what they do.. I love the creativity and the final result of their creation. Thank you for creating this special experience for us in NYC

The best sushi I've ever had in my life. The omakase sushi in this place has a special and unique taste. The place is quite intimate, calm and with a quite comfortable energy. Max is amazing host and Daniel his chef is too good, I definitely recommend this place 100%
