Restaurant
La Mère Brazier is an elegant restaurant in Lyon, known for its regional haute cuisine and tasting menus. The restaurant holds a legendary status as it was once the space of Eugenie Brazier, a pioneer of nouvelle cuisine and the first woman to earn three Michelin stars in 1933. Today, the renowned chef Mathieu Viannay pays homage to Brazier by offering a menu that combines modern cuisine with reimagined versions of her classic recipes.
What a wonderful restaurant filled with charm and character, perfect to match the excellent food. Was in Lyon for one night and decided I would try my luck as a solo diner to get a Reso here which I was lucky to! When I arrived I was kindly greeted by the team and shown to my seat, which was tucked away in the main dining room. It did feel a little stark, not a ton of vibe I’d say with no music, perfectly pressed white table clothes, teacup chairs, but the details of the wallpaper, lights, and building itself lent me enough to appreciate. The food itself was outstanding. I did the classic Eugenie Brazier menu with wine pairing and left full, satisfied, and appreciative of the skill level displayed. The soft shell crab. Artichoke Foie gras. The scallops, oh.. MY GOD, maybe a top 3 dish I’ve ever had. The stuffed cabbage, never had anything like it. The grand marnier soufflé. Perfect! Beyond that, it was truly the kindness of the team and staff as a whole that made the experience so lovely. As a solo diner in a **two** Michelin resto, it’s easy to feel out of place, forgotten about, or left out. I felt like I received extra attention and care, and was treated with the utmost respect. Thanks so much to the whole team. I’ve eaten at amazing restos all over the world, and I’ve never written a review this long so that says a lot. GO HERE. Enjoy it!!

Extraordinary by any measure. We did the tasting menu with wine pairing. Every course was as beautiful to look at as it was to eat. Artistry and food held hands. The wine choices were surprising, yet flawless. The service was sophisticated and welcoming. There were many surprises throughout the meal. Hats off to the Chef for taking this Lyonnais institution to the next level.

I had a very pleasant lunch at Mere Brazier. The food was exquisite, from the spider crab caviar dish to the bread with the most incredible salted butter (something so simple yet few restaurants get it right), the smoked haddock mousse to the Quenelle. Thoroughly enjoyed it! Service was great too. My only complaint was the Grand Marnier soufflé sides. The ice cream genuinely tasted like soap 😏 please stick to plain vanilla, the ice cream was not nice

The food at La Mere Brazier was very good. The service was definitely not two star Michelin service and if they keep it up they’ll never get a third and in fact may lose their second ! My glass was empty more than it was full. My wife had to fill the water for both of us several times. I asked for a check by the end of night as I was nearly falling asleep 4 times. After waiting :20 I got up to pay it so we could leave … Great food (see photos) Awful service

Category: Fine Dining. Our wonderful concierge, Francois at the Villa Maia Hotel (see my separate review) recommended this Michelin 2 Star. We don’t usually hunt for stars but we trusted his judgment and he didn’t steer us wrong. The name means “Mother Brazier” after its founder, chef Eugenie Brazier, who went to the Eternal Kitchen in 1977 but is famous for being the first person awarded six Michelin stars, three each at two restaurants. Upon arrival, we were politely ushered into the original, elegant dining room, which now has only four tables, the service bar, and a trophy case for the restaurant’s many awards, including several Michelin Man statuettes. Although the menu offers a wine pairing option, we started by ordering a bottle of red wine from Provence (where we just spent a week) from the extensive wine list. Despite the high level of this restaurant, we were happy to see some economically priced bottles on the list (we don’t like to spend much much money on restaurant wine). We each ordered one of the two 5-course tasting menus, which allowed us to sample almost everything the kitchen produces. The menu probably changes with the seasons (or more frequently), so I’ll mention only highlights (see the photos for more details). The first was the generous amuse bouche of creamed corn, haddock, and crunchy corn bits. Delicious. And it could have counted as the sixth course. We were also blown away by the incredibly tasty spider crab 🦀 and sea crab emulsion with Ossetra caviar. It’s plating was also spectacular. Another highlight was the Artichoke and Foie Gras Tribute to Mere Brazier. I’ve enjoyed many foie gras pates on this trip and others; this was the best. Although usually paired with a sweet sauce or compote, this foie was paired with artichoke. Perfect. The line-caught pollack was also excellent, but I mention it also because the wine pairing paired it with Japanese sake, specifically, a Junmai Kimoto. Inspired. Sake pairs more easily with food than does wine. The restaurant’s take on the ubiquitous local dish, quenelle, was also a highlight. In this incarnation it was a small, rectangular, crispy-topped portion in a beautiful Nantua (crayfish and/or lobster) sauce. Finally, I must highlight the Grand Marnier Soufflé. With most sweet soufflés, the server punches a hole in the top, through which is poured a sauce. No sauce here, which I thought was strange, at first. But the reason, apparently, is that the soufflé was so unbelievably light and airy that a sauce would have ruined the effect. Beyond excellent. Among the many off-menu pre-desserts and post desserts to which we were treated, we also enjoyed a glass of apricot wine, which our concierge said was a must. We had a great evening in this great restaurant, on the eve of our 25th anniversary. YouTube’s Chef’s Apprentice

We attended for a lunch service which offered a smaller menu at a reasonable price of €98. However, overall we were left a bit disappointed for our first experience at a two star Michelin restaurant in the foodie capital of France. While the lunch menu price might have been reasonable, the cost of the champagnes provided as an aperitif was not - at €24 each. We were not provided with a wine menu to choose the aperitif and while I expect to pay that much for a glass of champagne at a Michelin restaurant - I probably would have liked to have been warned first? Perhaps this is customary in such types of restaurants but after four glasses it left a slightly bitter taste in our mouths. If we were not concerned about cost we would have opted for the full dinner menu at 185 or 285 € (a price much more common for restaurants of this calibre). The cherry and foie gras entrée was quite good. But didn’t blow me away. The stand out dish for sure was the entree of spider and sea crab with caviar. This was 10/10. I found the other dishes - the monkfish and the amuse bouches to be good but nothing special. My partner enjoyed the beef sirloin, which was flavoursome. I was again disappointed with the souffle but astounded by its size. Personally, I think if it had been smaller it would have had more flavour. I can’t fault the service (besides my gripe about the champagne - which is perhaps just my mistake). The atmosphere was also nice. Though nothing special. I think if I was to return I would have the spider crab with caviar again but order the pressed chicken for which Mere Brazier is famous. I was also jealous of the cheese trolley. All up the experience cost about €360 (around $700 AUD at time of writing for those playing at home) for what was really four courses (appetiser, entree, main, dessert + two amuse bouches) four glasses of champagne and one small glass of wine. Again - I understand this to be the price point for Michelin 2 starred restaurants but I have had better experiences at bib gourmand elsewhere for half the price. Not bad but not a stand-out of our three month trip around Europe that was focussed almost exclusively on food and wine.

I will start by saying the service was impeccable. Every staff member was amazing, polite, hospitable, and made us feel welcome. They were the stars of the place. Also, the food was fantastic. Such interesting dishes, and the quality was world class. However. It took us 4 hours to get through the smaller tasting menu, about 5 courses. It should not take 4 hours, and made the end of our time in Lyon a bit disappointing as we were at times just sitting around waiting for the next course. I know kitchens get backed up, but that is not something I expect to experience at a world class restaurant. If you don't have early plans the next day, or are not in a rush, I recommend this place. But if you plan to try and get a good night's sleep after eating here, I wouldn't recommend.
Harding R — Google review
No wrong doings for the service staff cuz you can see them trying to pull this off. My nays are to the food cuz they’re just absolutely horrendous and bizarre. I’ve travelled to dozens of countries and this is the first time I wish I didn’t walk into the door. The desserts are fine (not exceptional as you would expect from a 2-star), but I must say that every other dish I had made me think “what the hell am I eating?” And “how soon can I just get the check and leave this place” I hope the chef can seriously reconsider continuing a cooking career in such a renowned establishment bearing 2 stars cuz this high price and god-forsaken food is beyond rescue. I seldom write reviews online but tonight I feel compelled to warn others off this place especially you’re trying to have a good experience in France and Lyon. Seriously find a pizzeria or a local bouchon you’ll be fine but coming here will make you traumatized like I am right now.

Daniel et Denise Créqui - Bouchon Lyonnais offers a quintessentially French dining experience, whether you choose to dine on the bustling outdoor terrace or inside the charming beamed interior. The bistro's red-and-white checked tablecloths set the stage for a five-course tasting menu featuring classic dishes like foie gras and sweetbread pate in pastry crust, and Lyonnais pike-perch quenelles in crayfish sauce, paired with regional wines.
I have absolutely no words for this... We went there a few months ago and waiting for about 30ish minutes even with a reservation. The wait was absolutely worth it! We were 2 people and had been eating our way around Lyon. We opted to just have a main course that already comes with an incredible Mac and Cheese like dish as well as some incredibly crispy roasted potatoes. I saw someone having the lamb and instantly knew that that's what I wanted. It's meant to feed 2 people, but between that and the side dishes, it could honestly have fed 3 people... The lamb fell apart. It was tender, flavourful, succulent and just mind-blowing in my opinion... One the the owners walked in and asked if we were having a good time. I froze, looked her dead in the eyes and said: "I think I could cry right now". She gave me a pat on the shoulder and we laughed about how food can make people feel. I genuinely recommend you give it a try if you're in town.

5-star experience in Lyon! The atmosphere is welcoming, service attentive, and the food outstanding. The poultry with morels is simply unforgettable — rich, flavorful, and a true must-try dish. Highly recommend this place if you’re in Lyon.
Georgii S — Google review
The Le Pâté en croûte is amazing! In the La Cervelle de veau, I think the flavor is nice but the steel container gives a iron-blood smell, which is not appealing to me. La tête de veau cuite au court bouillon is very nice with different texture of meat and full of meat flavour. I personally think it might be even better with some extra spicy leaves or herbs. Because then, there is some impactful feeling in addition to the long while modest meat flavour.

We were late to the reservation, and was in a hurry to the train. However , everyone in the restaurant was extremely nice and friendly, providing high quality food. It’s really been a pleasure dining at Daniel et Denise!

Michelin star rated restaurant. The food was very delicacy, and high quality. The location was in the center of the old town. The staff are very attentive and friendly.

Myself & my work colleague ended up here after failing to get into a few other restaurants in the area. Although we didn't have a reservation, they managed to find us a table immediately. The service was absolutely impeccable, with waiting staff who spoke really good English and explained each of the dishes to us, in addition to recommending appropriate wines. And the food - my goodness. The tournedos rotaille (chicken with morels) was a thing of absolute beauty - I could easily have eaten it again if I'd had space for it; it really was THAT good. Unfortunately I'm unlikely to be back in Lyon again for work, but if I ever visit as a tourist, I'll definitely be coming back to this restaurant.
Darren A — Google review
The food was like a feast. For entree we chose pate en croute and lyonnaise salad. Pate en croute was really nice and the oignon sauce was on point. For the main courses, we ate the most tender and balanced meats. And all the dishes come with a crispy potato and gratin with duck fat, they were a nice touch of a side. For the dessert, the creme brule was really light and nicely presented. I tried la Baba, and if you like alcoholic desserts, you should try it. The cream was fresh and the cake was full of cognac, really nice. The waiter was so nice and polite, she helped me with my broken french. And the timing of the dishes was on point also. Full of local people also so you should try this experience in Lyon with superb food.
Eda G — Google review
The service staff is extremely accommodating even though we came late as walk-ins. The food is amazing and they even recommended the wine pairing for our appetizer and mains. The Holstein beef fillet in cognac sauce is particularly spectacular. Definitely a must try if you’re visiting Lyon.

Takao Takano is a sophisticated dining spot that offers an ever-changing menu featuring innovative seasonal dishes with a Japanese influence. The restaurant, located in the 6th arrondissement, has gained significant acclaim, earning two Michelin stars for its imaginative cuisine. Chef Takao Takano's background includes working as a sous chef to Nicholas Le Bec, and he brings his own unique style to the forefront at this warm and minimalist establishment.
French cuisine with great touch of Japanese favorite. Love everything during the meal, except when the dining room is full(although it’s small, may fit maximum 24 people?) a bit noisy … Definitely will return if visit Lyon again.

Wine pairing was decent. Food was very good. Pricing for extras aside from the dinner (wine, cheese, etc) felt too high and I would have liked to see those somewhere ahead of time so I could make an imformed decision about buying them.

A highly memorable meal we experienced tonight—from the cuisine execution to the knowledgeable front of house staff. They all made us English speakers feel comfortable and educated on each dish at a French style 2 Michelin star restaurant. The dishes had subtleties of Japanese fare, which we appreciated being intertwined into French fine dining. Takano Takao is an absolute must visit to add to your gastronomy tour in Lyon!
Cristine O — Google review
Excellent food, the service is impeccable! We found the atmosphere a bit cold and not really cozy, but honestly doesn’t take from the experience. If you have the opportunity to experience the food here, don’t miss it.
Diogo M — Google review
Very surprised of the 2 star Michelin rating. Intimate, small place with 8 tables seating 16 people. Looks nice and was expecting to be mind blown by the details, but it was far from it. Fish was nothing impressive. A different dish had sandy abalone. Lamb was very plain and did not taste like it. Pigeon was good, even though we asked for it from the less expensive menu. Bread was good, but still.. Staff did not feel extremely knowledgeable..
Tiberiu H — Google review
Must visit in Lyon. Two Michelin stars is well deserved. Exceptional service from our waiter who told us about the wines and food, even though we couldn't speak French. Every dish built upon themselves and everything was executed perfectly. Great wine list from whites to reds. Cheese cart to die for. Still dreaming of the fish and pigeon. Plus we got a copy of the menu for souvenir!
Russell W — Google review
A beautiful experience where fine dining is at its best. The minimalistic decor is set off nicely with the warm lighting. The staff welcome you with bright smiles & make you feel at ease - with easy banter and a friendly manner. The menu is well explained and we were informed of the day’s special dish of veal kidneys (which we did try as a additional dish to the basic degustation menu for an additional Euro 20 per person). The Japanese chef excels in how he has combined the fineries of French cuisine with the pureness of Japanese cooking. Every dish was a sight to behold & combinations were quite complicated yet one could taste individually the various components. Definitely the chef knows his craft well & has placed alot of thought in how to serve them. It is difficult to point out a particularly special dish as each one was superb. We were being adventurous in adding the kidneys but for the faint hearted, it may not be recommended. Although tender with nice texture, the offal taste was a little overpowering & the centre fatty portion of kidney was served intact (we are used to eating kidneys of smaller animals where only the outer portion is finely sliced & fried). The portion was large & it was a bit of a struggle to finish this dish - but we did our best! Overall - we had a very nice experience & highly recommend this restaurant when in Lyon. A nice gesture, as we were unable to finish our petit fours & madelines at the end, they made a little take away bag for this. The price point for a 2 Michelin starred restaurant is reasonable & reservations are essential as it seats at max 20 customers.

La Sommeliere is a cozy and intimate restaurant located in the heart of historic Lyon. With only a few tables available, it offers an exclusive dining experience. The menu changes monthly and features seasonal and distinctive dishes such as shellfish, smoked duck foie gras, and springtime milk-fed roast lamb.
Wonderful restaurant where the chef does everything and his partner (I assume) does front of house. The foie gras started is amongst the best foie gras I’ve had, going beyond usual pairing with seared fruit and adding more ingredients that balance well. Fish main was also excellent. Fish can be challenging to make tender and have the flavor come through while adding ingredients to accentuate that flavor. That succeeded here. Highly, highly recommend. Service was also excellent and food presentation beautiful

Everything about this place is so amazing! The ambiance is quiet and peaceful and perfect. Completely unpretentious. I highly recommend asking for a wine recommendation to go with whatever food you choose to order. The cold foie gras is one of the best dishes I’ve ever eaten in my life. Thank you for such incredible food and such a wonderful evening! Je vous remercier de Texas!! 🫶🏼

Intimate restaurant of no more than 10-12 seats, owned and run by a Japanese woman sommelier and a Japanese chef who have perfected a modern take on french cuisine. Food was delightful from start to finish, with a few surprises along the way. The amuse was a full course. The smoked foie gras forever changed my opinion on the delicacy. Menu changes seasonally. And no surprise, the wine pairing was both interesting and extraordinary. When compared to US prices, an experience like this is a downright steal. I wish them many more stars but also hope it stays a secret :)

I love the overall experience i had with La sommeliere. The food and service was amazing, if i may point out one small opportunity, it will be about the sound in the place. However it is a great place to have intimate and special dinner

For those who aren't aware or haven't read their website carefully, this restaurant has just transitioned from starred fine dining to a more informal concept focused on wines and a few small plates. The cue for passers-by is the sign outside advertising karaage fried chicken for takeaway. Take it. And eat it quickly. You won't often find Michelin star quality at such an accessible price.

My wife and I had a fantastic experience at La Sommelière! Everything was just perfect and thoughtful: food, wine, service, atmosphere… It was a heartwarming experience. We are thankful that Chef Kikuchi and Sommelière Hasegawa have chosen France to perform their respective arts. They both contributed to making our visit to Lyon a memorable experience. Le Café Des Fédérations is a classic Lyonnaise restaurant located on Rue Major Martin, near the Museum of Fine Art. It offers fixed-price menu options and house wine in a lively, wood-paneled space. Known for its traditional meals, it was once famous for its rude waiters but has since gained renown for its authentic cuisine. The restaurant is among the most well-established and authentic bouchons in Lyon, preserving popular cuisine while accommodating modern tastes.
BEST experience of authentic Lyonnaise food. Our food tour guide recommend it so we knew it would be good but we thought it was excellent. They serve you so much good food-- see pics! The atmosphere is cozy and you feel transported back in time in a way, very old World vibes. Service was terrific. Each course well timed but not rushed. It's a preset menu but you make an entree and dessert choice from a selection. My husband and I spent a week in Lyon and this was one of our favorite meals. Definitely recommend, especially if you're from outside of France. Bouchons are unique to Lyon and this is a perfect place to taste the unique cuisine.

It didn’t work out for us for several reasons. We had high hopes for the places as it came highly recommended and made reservations for our first dinner in Lyon. The places did look extremely busy on a Saturday night, and patronized by both tourists and locals. We are by no means familiar with Lyon cuisine but every single dish was underwhelming and lacking in both flavor, dept and execution, as if operating on autopilot once they decided to sleep on their laurel. The course menu with option for entree and appetizer was limited ,and I would call it lazy. Many dished felt respective as in offering the same flavor profile, using the very same sauce with just a few tweaks. Looking from other reviewers pictures, seems like they've been serving the very same, albeit traditional local cuisine, dishes for ages.

A place that has a great traditional vibe and good food. A couple tables available for lunch for single or couple. Bigger groups need to reserve. Here's what I had: Smoked herring: Truly delish and great smoky flavour. The potato is so good... what species is this ? Yummy. Veal's head: Prepared traditionally and presented beautifully (without brain). I felt despite the great texture, it is rather bland. I think an enriched broth, more salty and with stronger herby flavour would improve the dish although it will depart from the traditional style. The sauce, which was very good sort of carry the dish.

Very vintage restaurant with authentic Lyon style dishes. Very great place as its value for money, the proportion of the food they offer can definitely satisfy you without doubt. Reminder to make a reservation!

Nice, hearty food that was perfect after a long day of travel. The quenelle (the first I've ever had) was delicious, and the decor in the restaurant was adorable. My only issue is that the service was a bit rushed (uncharacteristic for meals I've previously had in France) and they forgot to serve us the cheese course that we paid for (we actually didn't realize until we had paid and left that we were supposed to get that with our meal). But overall, it was a satisfying and welcome first meal in Lyon.

Great bouchon with friendly service and wonderful food. Middle of the road amongst the bouchons as far as price goes, but I found the food to be above average, the service wonderful, and the ambiance was very fun. I was impressed by how well they handled a large group of 20 something seated next to me without lowering the quality of service for everyone else.

We ate lunch here and thought this place was wonderful. I see other reviews nitpicking minutiae and missing the big picture. If you want authentic local cuisine in an authentic local restaurant come here to eat. They have been serving food here for over a hundred years. The menu is local Lyonnaise. It is a small restaurant with a ton of atmosphere. If you want haute cuisine then go somewhere else. I loved this place.

The positive first: Nice atmosphere, we were a big group of more than 30 prople and got the extra room which was cosy and gave us some privacy. The waitress was lovely and was always smily, even if she had difficult job with so many people. Some dishes were tasty, like the fish, even if nothing was great. Good price (34 euro plus drinks) considering we had 6 courses. The negative: mainly the food. Like i said above, nothing was really bad but most of the dishes lacked depth. Some people got saucage in more than one course. All in all a decent choice if you are a group, not many places can accomodate big groups in such a professional way. However, i would not choose this restaurant if we were just two people wanting to try a good level of Lyonaise cuisine. A tip: ditch a course or two and do small imporovements on quality of the rest.

This is a great place to go to if you're looking for delicious meats. They have a wide variety of meats available, all cooked perfectly. The atmosphere is casual and the staff are friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend L'Argot if you want some truly amazing meat in a relaxed setting.
Outstanding restaurant for any fun of meat. They offer an outstanding variety of cuts for bœufs, lamb and cochons. Meet quality is superb and renders traditional French way of cooking meet on fire with an impeccable tenderness and matching with sauces based on butter. Wine card is well crafted, you will have a variety of choice. Ambience in the resto is cosy, funny with lots of details that each meat fun will appreciate. Always take reservation, waiting time is at least 2 weeks and the resto is rather small and extremely popular. Price is high and fully corresponds to the quality you get.

Outstanding food, wine and service! Highly recommend for foodies - of course the steak but the sides and the dessert were absolutely amazing. The staff are so lovely- recommended other places to see and eat. Thank you L’Argot!🥰

It was pouring rain. Our booking was 7:30pm, we arrived and were the only customers there. We had second thought for a minute. After we were seated, within the next few minutes, other customers came in and the place was full house. We were excited and overwhelmed with the meat display and the menu. And yes, we ordered too much again. For starter, the two of us shared the Roasted Bone Marrow (Os à Moelle). Very filling for us... at the next table, four people were sharing this. For plats, we ordered the Tartare Limousin Classique and Entrecote Limousine 400g. The steak came with a potato gratin and we also had a side green salad. The meat quality was good and the taste was on the spot. The potato gratin was done perfectly with crispy top and well seasoned. Perhaps we should have just ordered two plats only... so we can finish the whole potato gratin. The restaurant is buzzling and can be noisy if you are sitting next to a large table. Staff is pleasant and generally accommodating. Although there is a long list of interesting fromages and desserts, we have simply no room for dessert this time.

One of the best meals of our life for me and my husband. The meat, the savoir-faire, the quality ... we have no words to describe this experience. Go and try, and enjoy one of the best meals of your life .

A real heaven for meat lovers!! Very kind and polite staff, doing their best so you’d have a perfect meal there. We had Carpaccio and Italien ham as starters, lamb chops and cured “Aubrac” ribeye as main course. All perfect! Highly recommended. P.S. reservation is required and they’re always booked for the next few days, so the sooner you make that reservation the better!

It’s my second time there! There’s nothing to say about the quality of the meat! It’s one of the best in all France! I would recommend to make a bit more effort with the potatoes! They are a bit dull compared to the quality of the restaurant!
Charbel S — Google review
Another level from the greatest level. My best experience in a meat restaurant ever. Staff was attentive and friendly. Ambiance is accompanied by good music and atmosphere. The cooks and employees are all friendly and helpful. The chef Sylvain and the host Emilie take the experience away from the classic service, they just make it unique and EXTRAordinaire. I’ll be back. Many many many times. Thanks l'Argot.

4 stars because I asked for my steak to be blue and it was medium rare. I had a coworker with me who is American, I think someone on the staff may have assumed we would like our steaks cooked more because we're American. Both of our steaks were overcooked...still good, but overcooked. Marrow bones were good and the brioche was a delicious dessert. The wine was also very good. Service was good but seemed strained during peak hour. I tried to come back the next night...not specifically for food but to ask the sommelier out on a date. Well, she wasn't there and they were booked. Maybe if she reads this...

Brasserie Georges, also known as BG or Le Georges, is a historic landmark in Lyon that has been serving traditional Lyonnaise cuisine and brewing its own beer since 1836. Founded by Alsatian Georges Hoffherr, it has become the largest brasserie in the city and a local institution. The restaurant's vast art deco dining room has hosted literary greats such as Paul Verlaine, Jules Verne, and Emile Zola.
If you're looking for a truly local experience in Lyon, with delicious food that offers great value for money, then Brasserie Georges is the place to go! This is a wonderful institution in Lyon that you absolutely must experience. The atmosphere is fantastic, making for dining experience. The service was also top-notch, attentive and friendly. But the real star of the show is the tasty food! Every dish we tried was prepared very well, bursting with rich and delicious flavours. And be warned – the portion sizes are very generous, so come hungry! The toilets are separate and very clean. Also toilet for disabilities people is available! Highly recommended!

A classic Lyon experience — with great food and warm service! We were greeted with a friendly reception, and the service throughout was excellent professional yet welcoming. We arrived just after 1:30 PM, which turned out to be a smart move, as the restaurant wasn’t crowded and we avoided the usual queue. The food was really good overall. The beef tartare was especially delicious, though quite rich and filling easily enough for two people. We ended the meal with a dessert that looked like a baked Alaska and it was absolutely yummy! A great place to enjoy traditional dishes in a beautiful, historic setting.

The hotel is right next to one of the oldest restaurants in Lyon still operating – Brasserie George Lyon, established in 1836. A MUST-VISIT, always among the top spots. People are constantly coming and going, the place is packed, and just watching how well it sells is amazing. QUENELLE – €18.75 (~560k VND) Tastes like a fluffy fish cake, but the sauce is similar to the crab pasta sauce at Pizza 4P’s – absolutely delicious. In fact, this dish is made from fish, eggs, flour, and cream. RAUERS DE PORC – €18.5 (~550k VND) The flavor, along with the tender pork pieces with a bit of fat, tastes almost 90% like Vietnamese thịt kho tàu (braised pork). The difference is the thickened sauce – very tasty.

I thought it would be some tourist place. No waaaaay. Brasserie, that works from 1863! We took 2 menus (we are tourists, cmm’n:) All plates were really tasty. Black sausage is 🔥, butternut soup and Ille flottante for desert - all Reilly delicious. Recommending you to stop here for a lunch o dinner with no rush.

A traditional Brasserie and a great experience to go there. Food is absolutely delicious. Service is good. It’s just very noisy, but this comes with the concept. Lots of birthday songs were played loud and there even was a band playing. So it’s kind of a party atmosphere, but nice and entertaining. You should defenately book a table in advance. We reserved a table, but had to wait like 20 minutes at the bar.

Service was really really terrible. Sat around and waited a very long time to order. Water didn't come out till after the appetizer. Tried to ask someone else for some and they just forgot? Seems like they were really short staffed. My poor waiter was running around like crazy. It was fun trying lyonnaise cuisine! I got the escargot and the pork and pistachio sausage. It's also a cool dining room. The setup is interesting! There's fun art and the birthday song with the little crank organ is cute. So many people celebrating birthdays lmao

Amazing place, it is run like a well-oiled machine. Don't go before 15h or you will spend 2 hours in a lineup. We made that rookie mistake but it was ok, we toughed it out. We each ordered onion soup à gratin, and it was exactly what we wanted. I would forego the egg in port that the waiter poured in our soup, it tasted a touch too wine-y for my taste, but I appreciated the flair. All in all a fun experience, a good memory.

Brasserie with a long history, and where famous people like Hemingway, had dined. The size and the design of the place is impressive. I liked how they prepared the Tartar (they ask beforehand if you want it spicy) - they mix in front of you. Their bread is delicious. The only disappointment was the main dish - pork rack. It was too dry and not hot. You can also come for late lunch to avoid the crowds - good thing they don’t close between 2 and 7.

Best steak I’ve ever had so far. The meat was perfectly and evenly (ordered medium) cooked all the way and the seasoning was perfection. We couldn’t speak French apart from the basics but the staff were very helpful and friendly. The service was very quick and the food arrived within 15mins after ordering. I highly recommend and would go back here again. I miss it already.

One of the best steak house I’ve ever been to. I haven’t felt the same about steak since this place. We had different Wagyu cuts and each one of them was tasty, full of flavor. The service was amazing, very attentive. The appetizers were good as well, and the spicy cocktail was the best.

Absolutely insane meat!! We’re big meat eater and expert and picky! Everything was fabulousss! We ordered entrecôte well done which was still very tender and tasty and I had the bavette which is the onglet steak and NEVER TASTED SOOO GOOD! Super juicy and tasty, extremely tender and quite generous. French fries are homemade and the carrots are exquisite. A 5 STARS Steakhouse and real gem in Lyon. Amazing service and nice atmosphere.

I went here for dinner going for a meat-centric meal, and they definitely delivered that. They have a small but decent selection of cocktails, beers, and wine. There were about a dozen steaks available between the various origins and cuts, and I ended up ordering a special Holstein bone-in ribeye that was dry-aged for 50 days. It was cooked perfectly, well-marbled, and the age gave it an excellent intensity, easily one of the best steaks I've had. I almost forgot about my appetizer of thin-sliced serrano ham. I'd definitely recommend for a good and proper steak.

Great place with a good selection of different meats. The meat is well cooked and presented. It is a shame that most of the meat is from South America. Apart from the meat not being locally sourced it was a great restaurant and I can definitely recommend it.

If you're a fan of American-style BBQ, then Delicatessen is a must-visit spot in Lyon. Owned by Brice Fournier, known for his role as Kadoc in the beloved series Kaamelott, this restaurant has quickly become a favorite among meat lovers. The ambiance is warm and inviting, reminiscent of a Texas ranch with its spacious layout adorned with giant lanterns.
Very nice discovery! I was a bit frightened that it would be some sort of fast food, but it turned out to be a great place. The meats were amazing, the sides are very original as for France, and the atmosphere is relaxed and friendly. We are going to be back for sure!
Inna P — Google review
This is one of those highly-anticipated restaurants known for its slow-cooked, smoky meats and pure comfort food. I really wanted to rate the food higher, and to be fair, the beef and sausages were quite good. However, a significant issue was that everyone at our table of six agreed the slow-cooked pork and pork belly were overwhelmingly salty across all the dishes where they featured. This affected a large portion of our platter and, as a result, the meal felt unbalanced. The lack of accompanying vegetables or bread further highlighted this imbalance. The side dishes were generally okay, with most being enjoyable, though the beans weren't a personal favorite. On a positive note, the staff were friendly and helpful. It's also worth mentioning that we experienced a considerable wait to get a table.
Nick P — Google review
Food is very tasty and owner of the place is so friendly. Even I do not prefer to eat porc, these ribs/ smoked meat was from another universe. Smashed potato with truffles was sth I haven’t tried before. Definitely a landmark of the city

Incredibly delicious food! First time I tried proper American food with a French twist and it has been a feast for the tummy =) Super kind owner and despite loving French food, it was a refreshing change here in Lyon! Highly recommended! (even the sausage that I usually don't really like^^)
Thomas J — Google review
Avoid it during week ends, the wait is about 30 mins (that is if the server takes your phone down correctly otherwise you're sitting outside until you decide to ask for a table again). Once you're inside there's another queue to get your food which wouldn't be an issue if the staff wasn't so slow but you'll have to wait another 20 minutes to get your food. And the food is not worth waiting an hour in the cold, it's decent but I'm certain you'll be happier somewhere that doesn't artificially increase wait times.

Really tasty BBQ and sides! I loved the beef and my favourite side was the corn. Super friendly staff and owners. We would go back!

Aromatic is a cozy and romantic restaurant in Lyon that offers a sophisticated selection of local dishes using fresh ingredients sourced from the area. The menu, carefully curated to complement the seasons, features innovative creations such as beef fillet in syrah wine sauce and scallops with sweet potatoes, all artfully presented. Pierre Daret, the chef at Aromatic, infuses his dishes with creativity and a touch of southern charm.
It was a great experience eating at the restaurant. The scallops were so perfectly tender and worked amazingly with the oyster mushrooms. The Iberia pork face was great with the scent of the leek. Wine pairing was surprisingly good and complemented the dishes. We are ready to come back again anytime. Danke!

A kind gentleman I was super lucky to meet on our way to Lyon introduced us to this fantastic restaurant. We truly enjoyed the food—not just the taste, but also the beautiful presentation! The service was wonderful (thank you for your hospitality), and the atmosphere was both relaxing and cozy. The cost performance was second to none, making the experience even more impressive. I saw many local people enjoying dinner with friends and family, smiles on their faces 😊 It was a very memorable night in Lyon—an experience that will remain a cherished memory. We’ll definitely be back next time! ;-)

I recently dined at Aromatic, eager to explore their menu as it is highly rated. Unfortunately, the experience did not meet the high standards I anticipated. The beef tartare was a letdown, being excessively chewy and tendinous, which made it difficult to enjoy. Similarly, the squid was also tough, lacking the tender texture one would expect from a well-prepared dish. On a brighter note, the pork fillet emerged as the highlight of the tasting menu, showcasing the chef's skill and attention to flavor. Service, however, was exemplary. The staff was friendly, providing thorough explanations of each dish with genuine enthusiasm. It was clear they were passionate about their work. It’s worth noting that my visit was just before the restaurant closed for its holiday break. The “secret menu” seemed to be a mix of ingredients, possibly reflecting a patchwork of leftovers from the regular menu. This might have contributed to the less than ideal execution of certain dishes.

We had a lovely evening dining at Aromatic. We opted for the 3 course meal with wine paring. Joseph did a fantastic job paring the wines with each course. We told him we preferred red wines so he was sure to pair our main dish with a red wine - Everything was top notch and the food was excellent. We tried the grilled mackerel and lamb ravioli as starters and for main dishes the trout and pork belly. Dessert was a lovely raspberry cake and grilled plumes with peach ice cream.

Great experience, so glad we had a recommendation to go here. To bad we could not meet the Chef since he wasn't there on Wednesday. The food was amazing and the wine suggestions were fantastic. It was one of those experiences where the wine changed for the better when you ate the food, amazing! The food was beautiful and delicious at the same time. We did the tasting menu and shared our dishes. The serving portions were perfect, not to full for dessert and not at all hungry when leaving. Absolutely recommended!

Lovely dinner experience at Aromatic Restaurant. We chose the menu carte (au choix) for 45€ each and it was delicious. The whole team was so nice and even got our dog some water. We reserved a table online beforehand specifically on the terrace (you can choose between a table inside or on their terrace). All courses were excellent, definitely recommend.

Yummy! Beautiful presentation! Despite the price, the entrée were flawless. The main dishes could be tastier - the 'dos de cabillaud' dish was a little bit too bland. The desserts were nice. The service was just right. Unfortunately, being there in summer and they didn't turn on the air-conditioner nor open the windows, it was super hot inside the restaurant.

The restaurant's atmosphere is described as simple yet elegant, providing a welcoming ambiance that guests will cherish. Nestled on the heights of Fourviere hill, it combines tranquility and luxury with breathtaking views of the Saint-Jean Cathedral.
A wonderful cuisine for a wonderful view, in a wonderful setting. Exceptional food (asparagus and Rouget.) Very interesting choice of wines, with great advice. Be sure to book early to secure the seats near the veranda. Service is welcoming and friendly.

We went on a Saturday night. The restaurant was full. The ambience was a little bit too formal for me, kind of old money style. Al the waiting staff wearing suits and ties… Also you could not see the view of Lyon as the glass windows reflected the lights from the restaurant. That was disappointing for me Maybe it would be better to go during daylight. The food was amazing and the quantity was pretty decent too. We got the 130€ menu and the 70€ one. Overall it’s a good restaurant to go for the food and not the views.
Ed B — Google review
Great view, decent food (nothing mind-blowing though for the price), great wines. However service was VERY slow. We had a 6 course menu and it took 3.5 hours (!) from the moment we arrived till we could leave.
Benedikt G — Google review
The restaurant was terribly understaffed, the atmosphere was loud and chaotic. The staff was inattentive (beyond what one comes to expect in a France). There They often left food lying around on furniture and partitions for long periods of time before serving off temperature. There was no set wine pairing. For three to dine on the 4 course menu we were there for 4 hours with large gaps between courses. The wait staff tended to gather in the entry way conspicuously spending a large amount of time jesting and interacting with the POS system on their phones. We were not offered digestif. Would not recommend. Cannot understand how this place obtained a Michelin star. Very disappointed to have been lead astray.

There are actually 3 restaurants: terrasse, restaurant, bistro Terrasse is on the roof, open to the wind, and has a great view. Good food, good cocktails. Entrance is through the bistro, then take elevator up. Restaurant is one floor below but indoor with glass windows. 1 Michelin star. Entrance is uphill. Bistro is bottom floor. No view. Entrance is downhill. Management should really make all this more clear on their website and better signs.

Google review points did not disappoint. This restaurant is worth the 4.8 star rating. In fact, with the service and atmosphere, it should get even higher points. We did not make the reservation, but the lady at the reception arranged a table for us very quickly. So from the start, we were really feeling the hospitality. And the interior of the restaurant offered such variety of decorations. Every room and every corner of the restaurant seemed to show a part of the history of this restaurant in different light. Food did not disappoint at all. The truffle pasta was probably one of the best I had ever tried (see photo). Everything we ordered tasted really good. Restaurant has an awesome vibe and interior. It felt too good to be there, to sit and to eat. Service was little slow since we had to wait for more than 25mins to get our food, however the server and all the other people working there were very nice! We ordered a pizza and a pasta. Pizza (Margherita) was good, but pasta (San Marzano) was average. food wasn’t amazing to deserve a 5 star, however the restaurant’s staff and the vibe deserves 5 star.

Carmelo, Final night in Lyon my friend wanted to book a nice evening for us. Using “The Fork” she booked us this restaurant that she had been to earlier that week. This took place Monday evening! Service: We booked the wine room at 21:30. We came early and there was A LINE outside. Like 15 people who reserved. Thankfully we were seated by 21:35 anyway but not in the room we had requested but the basement. Thankfully any seat in that restaurant is quite pleasant seeing as it’s an old Italian aesthetic. The staff all speak French, Italian and English. They’re quite stressed seeing as it’s busy but many greeted you if walking past. Table: the table was not prepared fully for the next guest. Missing forks and only had knifes? Some cloths were not in tact. Lightning in the basement was quite dark and only some tables had some lighted globes? Food: Starter: we ordered burrata for starter. Nice portion, not a lot of bread sadly. Arrived quite quickly along with the drinks. Loved the white wine! Bread is not home baked. Main: Pizza margarita: love the dough, quite soft edged and not too thick. Not Neapolitan style I would say but close enough. Recommended to add more black pepper to it! Crazy San Marzano with stracciatella: portion okay. Not seasoned like much of the food. Thankfully you have seasoning and olive oil at the table. Nicely plated. Tagliata di manzo: asked for medium. I think it was right on the edge of medium but acceptable. Lovely baked potatoes and some green pasty salsa verde! Anyway loved it, but yet again no seasoning. Desert: Tiramisu didn’t tasted soaked but was creamy which tastes good in its own way. Apple Pear crumble dessert was warm and spicy! Loved! Bonus: the bottle of tap water tastes like pool water but it’s free. If you can’t handle it, ask for sparkling or bottled because the taste was quite strong. Overall: no music playing and just people talking loudly. Waiters are quite laid back and have nice humor. Maybe not the most fine dining restaurant but one of the best you could get for the aesthetic and product quality.

10 Oct 25. Did not live up to the expectations on Google and on entry. Our lemon fish pasta was served cold and unseasoned (had all of one piece of chopped tartare, no cream, no salt, no pepper, zero taste, too much spaghetti) and the moment of truffe pizza was served room temperature (also unseasoned, meagre amount of mushrooms, almost zero taste or aroma of truffles, dry as though it had no white cream base, and the dough wasnt fully cooked in the middle). The burrata pomodoro was excellent. Drinks average. We wanted to order their special Espressoni and the one bold red wine they allegedly sold by the glass were not in stock - the shop just opened for lunch at 12pm mind you. It set them up for a fail. Classic poor management of the menu and customer expectations. The food wasn't cheap to begin with. Their signature dish was the truffle pasta in a small brass pan with no meat. The place was table-packed like sardines with guests having to squeeze to enter past the booths. I can't understand why their menu was so shoddy and selection was so mediocre. Just 4-5 pastas and yet there was none of the following: no ragu or carbonara or pesto variant, no risotto, no type of flat pasta noodles like linguine or taglietelle, no tortellini. Pizzas selection was equally depressing.

Walked in and sat at the bar by myself, since I was traveling alone. Was a great experience! Bartenders are attentive and personable. The food was excellent and delivered quickly. Great vegetarian options. Highly rec the tiramisu!! I took a walk through the restaurant and it has a unique charm to all of the different rooms that elevates the atmosphere. I would definitely return

It was my first experience here and Antonio made it an amazing one. The ambiance was amazing, the decor was beautiful and the service just brings you to Italy. All around with a service like none other I would definitely recommend this restaurant for either a girl’s night out or a romantic dinner with your partner:

Came back the very next day and got seated to another dimension of the restaurant . Didn’t regret not exploring the rest of what Lyon has to offer and stuck to the safer choice - Carmelo . Had the steak and pizza this time round and it’s wonderful . Our hearts is contented and stomach filled . Grazie

A great night! We had reservations so got seated immediately, they have plenty of indoors sections. The atmosphere was great our server was so kind and attentive. He took great care of us. The food was great we ate plenty, it took a short time for our food to arrive as well. Their bathroom is also very pretty and clean. All together I recommend this place for a night out with you family or friends but do a reservation beforehand.

The dry aged ribeye is simply the best steak I have ever had. Eric and his staff are happy and efficient. The escargot are delicious, and the key lime pie is to die for. If you want a steak in Lyon, look no further than Franklin's.

Food is really good, very traditional American which is surprising in Lyon. Only complaint is the music, very Texas, redneck country. I think they did play a song named I'm a redneck woman. My suggestion to the owner or staff is to find a better Pandora/Spotify station.

We live in Lausanne and I will drive to Lyon for this. After having lived in the US for three years it felt a bit like coming home, but with better wine! Great staff as well.

For an American-themed steakhouse to survive and thrive in the gastronomy capital that is Lyon, the food must be excellent. And indeed, Franklin's does not disappoint! Perfectly cooked steaks paired with the right wine and that sweet potato au gratin make for a memorable meal worth going back to. The owner Eric and his staff are very friendly. If you're lucky, Eric might even give you a shot of his special bourbon that he keeps in a cask atop the bar!

Les Marmottes is a Swiss-themed restaurant in Lyon, and it always offers raclette to customers. It's a great choice no matter the season, because the food is delicious and affordable.
(As a disclaimer, I am not French) I had previously tried raclette at the place of some friends, this was our first raclette in a restaurant. The experience itself was amazing, we loved the big cheese with the raclette (see picture). The restaurant had a very nice decoration, it looked like a cabin in the woods. The flavor was perfect for us, the potatoes had a delicious seasoning and the hot cheese completed the experience. The charcuterie and salad were an excellent side dish. One small issue is that the tables were very close together, and standing up to get more cheese was a bit complicated without getting unnoticed by the table next to us. Price wise it is a bit expensive in my opinion. Expect to spend at least 30€ per person for the raclette and a drink (as of January 2023). Overall, I would come back again.

very good place if you’re missing mountains vibe, raclette, and fondu. stuff is amazing, the food big enough to have one plate per person. and raclette is even available for many times to get it.

Unfortunately we spotted a mouse in the restaurant which was disgusting. When we told the staff, their response to this was very rude and defensive, saying that they knew about it and there was nothing they could do - we should not be paying to eat with mice. They even made a remark about the country that we were from. Also there are tastier fondues in Lyon, but the setting is cute.

honestly don’t know how the review is so low, went there yesterday on a chance for the fondue and it was amazing, super well served and delicious, sadly couldn’t even finish the portion, also, the service was really really nice, would definitely recommend!

A great smell of auhentic cheese entices you to come in, all the way from out the restaurant, twenty feet from the door. You're greeted with nothing but smiles and care, and the place makes you wanna host a Christmas party with all your friends and family and pull an all-nighter, right there. The cheese fondue is exquisite, absolutely original and is a perfect match for the friendly and cozy mood of the restaurant. Again, generous and attentive waiters. I highly recommend.

Agastache Restaurant is an award-winning dining spot in Lyon, offering exquisitely crafted cuisine inspired by nature. The chefs use locally sourced ingredients to create artfully plated dishes served in a laid-back setting. With a focus on vegetarian options, the restaurant provides fantastic food and friendly service in an unassuming residential area. Visitors praise the well-executed meals, exquisite blend of flavors, and top-notch service at reasonable prices.
We had an incredible lunch at this restaurant. The meal began with Radish, Butter, and Olive as an appetizer for my team, while I opted for the Poached Foie Gras, which was absolutely divine—melting in my mouth with rich, delicate flavors. For the main courses, my Cuttlefish with Lentils and Rice was decent but didn’t particularly stand out. However, the Beef with Artichoke and Agretti was fantastic—perfectly tender, flavorful, and beautifully balanced. Desserts were a highlight. I enjoyed the Date, Balsamic, and Peanut, while my team had the Passion Fruit and Saffron from Pierres Dorées, both offering unique and well-executed flavors. The total cost was just a little over 60 euros for two, an incredible price for such high-quality cuisine. Definitely one of the best fine dining values we’ve ever had! Highly recommended—be sure to book in advance.
April W — Google review
This restaurant is a Bib Gourmand selection by Michelin — which means great quality at a great value, and I totally agree! The food was creative, well-executed, and worth every euro. The meal started with a pumpkin yuzu foam soup, which was refreshing and nicely balanced. The official appetizer was grilled and poached foie gras with a Japanese-style sour broth — elegant and tasty, though personally I still prefer classic high-end ingredients like wagyu or foie gras. The interlude course featured cheese with pickled cabbage, which I surprisingly loved! The cheese was fragrant and rich — I’ve heard that Lyon’s cheese is generally very good, and this one didn’t disappoint. For the main course, I had chicken breast with mushrooms in a creamy sauce. The sauce was rich and flavorful, though the portion felt a bit heavy toward the end. The sweet interlude was lovely, and the main dessert — a chocolate mousse with just the right bitterness — was delicious! The pear tart wasn’t too sweet (which I liked), but the sorbet was the only thing that didn’t quite hit the mark. Overall, the lunch menu offers excellent value — €28 for a high-quality meal, or €35 if you upgrade to include an extra small dish. You can also upgrade the appetizer or dessert for a few more euros. Definitely worth it!

An amazing meal! So glad I booked a couple of weeks in advance. It was a lovely restaurant setting and the staff were friendly and welcoming. The food was delicious and high quality. Will definitely come back next time we're in Lyon
Charlotte E — Google review
I can’t recommend Agastache enough. We loved the really friendly atmosphere and the fact that the majority of guests were locals which is always a good sign. Away from the tourist district it is a real gem. A menu of innovative dishes interspersed with surprising interludes/amuses bouches. All corses were delicious, from the mussels on a bed of courgettes and under a foam, to the potato stack cooked in coconut milk, to the most tender pork fillet on a bed of black garlic infused grains and then the dessert….. chocolate-seaweed-lemon at its essence but you can’t describe it. You have to eat it. We spent less per person on the whole meal including wine than we do for a very mediocre single course and a drink in London.
Astrid R — Google review
A delightful lunch at a good value. Some courses are okay while other are more flavourful. Worth giving it a go.

Wow. I had lunch here because of a few recommendations online. One of the best meals of my life. For the price it is probably the best restaurant I have been to. Everything is cooked to perfection and the presentation is phenomenal. The staff are very friendly and helped me to understand the dishes (I don’t speak French) to give me the full experience. Would recommend this to anybody looking for the best lunch in Lyon.

The best lunch ever! This five-course lunch was absolutely perfect! Food, wine, service, atmosphere and also the price. For how on earth do they manage to serve such good food at that price? I do not know if I will return to Lyon, but then I will surely stop here again. Highly recommended.
Krutt0 G — Google review
Having booked this several months ago and after reading the overwhelming positive reviews we were very excited to visit this restaurant. Unfortunately our evening was soured due to the poor service of one individual. We were served by 2 people, the young gentleman was very good. He paid attention to our needs and tried his very best to be attentive and forthcoming. The other person, a young lady was the complete opposite. No attempt was made to engage with us. Water and wine was left empty on the table with no thought to offer more. We were left to wait for our bill after 2 other tables were given theirs even though we'd finished our desserts before them. The attitude and poor service from this young lady ruined what would have been a pleasant dinner. I strongly recommend that she reads this and embarks on improving her attitude to diners. This could make or break this restaurants ascent to further awards. The food was good, nothing was terrible but other than the foie gras it lacked excitement and amazement. The chef tries hard- you can clearly see this with the techniques on display but my advice would be to double down on flavour over substance. It was lacking the big bold punch of flavour I would associate with a high end restaurant. Would I visit again? Probably not. The service we've received in Bouchons prior to this was much better and the food, although good, wasn't amazing. With the poor service received by the young lady I have to give this establishment 2 stars. I have visited 7 Michelin star restaurants across Europe this year and have based my review against these. Yes I may be harsh but if this restaurant wants to go to the next level, these are the areas I feel it needs to improve on.

Nestled in the charming cobblestone streets of Vieux Lyon, The New World Smoke is a hidden gem that transports you straight to the heart of America with its authentic barbecue experience. As soon as you step inside, you're greeted by the mouthwatering aroma of smoked meats, setting the stage for a culinary adventure. This cozy eatery specializes in low-temperature cooking at 80°C and oak wood smoking techniques that result in tender, flavorful dishes.
Most important things first. Do not skip the cardiac fries. Unlike anything you've ever had. Kitchen magic. New World Smoke is small with smokehouse decor. The menu is small, but includes all the smoked meats you'll need. All of them are great . Delicious and creative burgers. The smoke master/chef/bartender/sever manages all these roles with expertise and a fun sense of humor. Not a lot of English is spoken here. Have Google translate on hand if you don't speak French. We had a fantastic meal and a lot of laughs.

(Last visited 11/11/2021.) So while hanging out in Lyon for a couple of weeks on business my coworker found this place via some Google'ing and I am so elated that he did! Let me tell you why I paid this place a visit twice in 3 days! If you're interested in seeing a video review of this place, head on over to "The Hungry Road" on YouTube and search for this place. Atmosphere/Appearance: Right among the cobblestone streets in the surrounding downtown area is this gem. It's a lil' hidden and is only distinguishable by either looking through the big windows or the lil' sign that hands right above the stone archway. The interior design carries in that older European architecture that's present right on the outside. There's lots of stone everywhere, big picture frames, a small bar at the back of the restaurant and the see-in kitchen to the left. There are only a few tables so be sure to have reservations or some good luck! Lol. Service: Stéfane (@stf_nws on Instagram )is the owner/operator/chef/bartender/everything. Lol. He was SO FREAKING COOL and so chill. Despite having to literally do everything in the restaurant, he did it with a passion, with style, with flare and with love. You could just tell he put his soul into this restaurant and into this food. Food: On both of my visits I went with their big gourmet plate. I can't remember the official name of the plate, but it was gigantic. Lol. It comes with a plate FULL of smoked goodies! Beef ribs, pulled pork, sausage, chicken and the choice of 2 sides. For my sides I went with the beans and side salad. My goodness. Everything was FANTASTIC and smoked to perfection. I don't even wanna single anything out, but the ribs FLOORED me. They were so incredible juicy, smokey and full of flavor, but you can't go wrong with any of the components of this meal. Value: I can't remember the exact amount, but I believe my plate was around 35€‎ and absolutely worth it. In conclusion, do I even need to tell you how much I loved this place? It was intimate, tasty, affordable and gave you such a great experience. I can't wait to visit this place again!

This is not the place that one thinks. Menu is not the same as the website, but similar. Food is just but average, seems the owner is not the same as before but they running with the same name etc. Pulled pork - ok, cold. Chicken done two types, both average. Ribs - not worth the money. More like rib because there was. Only one piece lol. Mix plate only comes with the saddest potato's. No other side. Least they could do was warm it properly. Do not use the website to decide on this place. Very dishonest. Use my pics.

This place is exactly what you see. Amazing food delicious sides. Be prepared to smell BBQ next day. Visited the place with a group of friends from work and tried nearly everything in the menu and everyone was so happy with their selections. Be careful if you are a bit late they may be out of brisket and the black angus which is a must try. The staff is also a friendly bunch which makes the experience even more pleasant.

Nestled within the stunning former Gare de Brotteaux train station, CoCo Lyon is a glamorous brasserie that perfectly captures the essence of chic dining. With its soaring ceilings and lush palm trees, the interior is a feast for the eyes, boasting Napoleon III lacquered armchairs and sumptuous velvet canapés that evoke an Art Deco vibe.
Such a wonderful experience. The combination of environment, ambiance, food, the fabulous team and the excellent live (and not loud!) music made this a memorable and standout visit. Just when we had enjoyed a delicious main course the generous and beautiful deserts arrived. We will be back and will tell all of our friends to take a detour to Lyon.

Coco Lyon offers a warm welcome with a charming ambiance and beautiful decor. The attention to detail in table service, including the quality of utensils, is appreciated. However, the dining experience falls short in terms of plate size and presentation. The portions are notably small, and the aesthetics of the dishes do not match the elegance of the setting. While the food is good, it is not exceptional—both flavor and presentation could be significantly improved to align with the restaurant’s upscale image. Service is friendly, with a pleasant and attentive waitress, adding to the overall positive atmosphere. It is a great spot for an afternoon drink or teatime, but it does not deliver a dining experience that justifies its setting.

Eventhough the place is totally beautiful, we had a terrible experience as we had a piece of broken plate in the food. It had an edge, and if I ate it could have been life threatening. When we called the manager they sent some other lady, and she took the ceramic piece and hid it, she didn't let me take pictures of it. Finally the manager came and offered the plate for free and churros for dessert. Unbelievable how a group like Paris Society doesn't have trained personnel to take care of such situation. Due do this, we could start a big demand against the group.

Coco is set in the old railway arrival hall, a unique and gorgeous ground, the menu will satisfy almost everyone, they even have adapted some of the dishes for children, so everyone can find a fit. We tried the Pea's consome, that was marvellous, their foie gras, as starters, together with house cocktails signatures, their mixologist is talented. Service was highly skilled, the only faux pas was that while we were served bread and butter, we had no service plate to cut it or eat it on, a tiny set back, but unexpected. The rest of the diner and food was as good as the starters, but I was surprised that their chef set Pasta (tagliatelle) as a side dish with their delicious lamb shank, any chef will tell you, pasta is no side dish, only canteens do that. If they correct this grosss mistake, there kitchen is a 5/5.

Nestled in the vibrant city of Lyon, Boleh Lah is a delightful culinary venture that brings a taste of Malaysia to France. Founded by three friends who fell in love with the rich tapestry of Malaysian cuisine during their time in Kuala Lumpur, this eatery offers a unique blend of Indian, Chinese, and Malay flavors. While it caters to local palates, you can still find authentic dishes that evoke memories of home for many Southeast Asians.
Simple tables and stools really give this charming little resto a SE Asia street food feel. The menu is limited but the dishes are all well executed. It’s amazing how three guys (2 in kitchen and 1 waiting tables) can work so efficiently for ~16 tables ! I ordered beef randang, roti canai and black sesame ice cream. Delicious! Prices are very reasonable (my dinner was 24€).

Solid food, but I think there's room from improvement. Firstly, let me talk about the service. Our waiter was nice, and found us a table even if we didn't manage to make a reservation. We called, but no one answered on that day. They told us it's because they were insanely busy. But the welcome was nice, and we were promptly given our menus and served. The food was good, but I was a little bit disappointed by the Beef Rendang. The meat was tender and the portion generous, but it was slightly lacking in flavour. The Roti was good and my friend really enjoyed his Char Siu. Anyway, you should give it a try, maybe you would enjoy it more.

Pretty good beef rendang although I didn’t like how dry the coconut rice was. Laksa didn’t really taste like laksa and was barely warm. Wasn’t a fan. Pleasant roti that’s a bit on a thicker side and surprisingly comes with dhal. They did make the dishes lightning fast though. Very cheap and great for a quick bite.

Popular steakhouse here in Lyon. I was told it used to be an old slaughterhouse. The decor is simple and not pretentious. It's warm and comfortable. You see the dry aged beef in the closet. The menu is simple yet comprehensive at the same time, not many different choices but many different types of steak. The serving was not large but a good size. The fries were good and the long beans were OK. The food was good but I've had better steak in pride places. The prices were reasonable. We had a half bottle of wine, it was also just OK. The service was good and efficient. Overall I probably wouldn't return considering the location was a bit outside of town, in a more industrial area of the city

Nestled in the charming 6th arrondissement of Lyon, Ombellule is a culinary gem that showcases the artistry of chefs Tabata and Ludovic Mey. This gourmet restaurant offers a seasonal menu filled with imaginative dishes crafted from local ingredients, ensuring each visit feels like a new adventure for your taste buds. The ambiance is equally captivating, featuring minimalist decor and soft lighting that create an inviting atmosphere perfect for savoring exquisite meals.
Ombellule is elegance of the highest level. A beautiful setting and perfect service. The 10 course meal was refined yet inventive and surprising with each plate. Tabata and Ludovic Mey continue to astound and spoil us with their creativity. My absolute favorites are Vagues des Prunes ( tartare de bar ), Ronde des Saisons ( sunflower seed risotto ), Rivages, Racines & Ombellule ( Lotte rotie ) and À la Brune Rosée ( duckling ).

Beautiful ambience and design in this little restaurant with thoughtful and creative dishes. Even when taking the 3 course lunch menu, everything was presented with care and attention, as those who had taken the full tasting menu. We especially enjoyed the use of flowers, herbs, and algae as compliments to well-executed dishes.

I went in October the same week they opened by chance. It was amazing, I had been several times at Les Apothecaires and I liked Ombellule a bit more. They improved particularly the service from Very good to excellent, the decoration is also very nice with lots of attention to detail. The food was excellent.

Delightful restaurant - creative food and a move in a new direction without being jarring. Vegetable forward but in a good way. Minor quibbles - decor lovely but a bit confused, room slightly warm, service still to find an approach consistent with food. But really none of this gets in the way at all. Overall, the feel of young hip team growing into what they will become with an experienced capital provider behind them. I will go back.

A wonderful experience from every angle of the restaurant. From the art dressing the walls, to the art filling the plates, from the service to the wine selection - everything is a delight.

Everything was amazing - food was outstanding, the atmosphere is perfect, and the friendly and accommodating team who works there is top notch. It’s an experience you won’t forget.

We were in Lyon for a long weekend and had lunch at Ombellule. It was one of the best restaurants I have ever been to, I would visit Lyon again just to eat there.

Really excellent tasting menu and stand out dining experience including kitchen tour during amuse-bouche. We had such a lovely time.
