Beaches
Plaka Beach on Naxos is a stunning stretch of coastline with clear blue Aegean waters and soft, white sand. It offers a mix of local and tourist beachgoers, along with trendy beach bars nestled among the dunes. The southeastern side maintains an unspoiled feel where farmland meets the beach. Visitors can enjoy endless golden sands, crystal clear waters, and various water sports.
One of the best beaches we went in Greece (Paros, Naoussa, Antiparos, Tinos…) Nice sandy beach, no rocks Accessible by bus We stopped at Plakafe and walked 300m south to avoid more crowded part. End of August temperatures were great and less crowded Umbrella and 2 beach chairs were 30euros for the day
Mathieu H — Google review
Windy, and loud with airport to the east. North side has all the restaurants and shops, south side has more homes. Beautiful views across the water to Paros.
Trevor V — Google review
Quieter beach as it's further out. If you're driving, don't drive to the Google maps of the beach itself as it'll bring you to an area with limited parking. There is a dedicated parking lot closer to the bars of the beach
J L — Google review
The beach is spacious and never too crowded. The sand varies depending on the area—some parts have fine, beautiful sand, while others are a bit coarser. It’s not perfectly clean everywhere, but overall it’s pleasant. The water, however, is absolutely stunning—crystal clear, incredibly clean, and full of vibrant, beautiful colors that look even better in person.
Aleksandar Z — Google review
Loved this beautiful beach! The family had a lot of fun swimming in the sea & clicking gorgeous pictures ❤️. We had access to a near by hotel which made it easier for us to change and freshen up.
Ritu N — Google review
The beach is mostly sandy, making it ideal for relaxing and playing. However, I recommend wearing beach shoes, as some areas have scattered rocks that can be uncomfortable
Hani M — Google review
Beach is definitely more quite and empty comparing to Agios Prokopios, however the price for the two sun beds is the same (30€)with much lower quality (at Agios Prokopios you get the first raw for that price, bar with toilet, food, drinks and waiters). It’s definitely nice if you want to bring your own stuff (like umbrella or a tent). We were about to stay there but got disappointed because of the big flat rocks in the water that were quite uncomfortable.
Natalia C — Google review
Nice beach, clear water, sandy beach, some rocks in the shallows. Not many amenities, only shop we found was near the bus stop. Some naturists a bit of a stroll down the beach.

Beach
Agios Prokopios Beach in Naxos is a popular destination known for its stunning beauty and family-friendly atmosphere. The southern end offers a tranquil setting with minimal infrastructure, making it perfect for a peaceful beach day. Visitors can relax on the long stretch of golden sandy shore and enjoy the crystal-clear turquoise waters, which are protected from strong winds. This Blue Flag awarded beach also provides opportunities for water sports and features a diving club.
Beautiful beach. Crystal clear water very fine sand. No rocks, no algae. About 1km wide. Plenty of sun beds for rental around 25-30 euros for a pair with umbrella. Lots of shops and restaurants around. Great place for a day at the beach. Lots of families.
Francois L — Google review
One of the most beautiful beaches of the island, crystal clear water and nice thick sand. A lot of the beach area is covered by annoying paid umbrellas (also very expensive) but sufficient space for placing your own equipment
Andrea D — Google review
Fantastic beach! One of the best on the island and perfect for kids. Super clean water, good sand, decent restaurants close by and bus stop is right in front.
Matthew H — Google review
Nice looking beach. Though, all the good Spots are managed and you have to pay between 30-50€ per sun bed.
Mathias K — Google review
Don't bother looking for a better beach and crystal clear turquoise water on the whole island, Agios Prokopios is the best and it also offers something for everyone. For those who like to completely undress and sunbathe in the nude, they are also free to do so.
Khaled S — Google review
Beatiful beach. You can rent sunbeds for 2 persons for the whole day in the first row for 25 euros. (There are places where it costs twice as much.) The water is crystal clear. You can find a few fishes if you snorkle, but you have to search for them.
Peter B — Google review
I’ve been visiting Agios Prokopios in Naxos for 6 years now, and it’s always been such a beautiful beach. But honestly… what’s going on with all the chairs and sunbeds lately? People please come to the beach to enjoy the beach, sun, sea, not to feel like you’re in a pool bar. It’s getting a bit too much when you actually have to struggle to find a free spot on the sand without rows of sunbeds.
RENE S — Google review
Honestly could have been in the Caribbean! Perfectly clear turquoise water and soft golden sand. Lots of great restaurants and sunbeds were more reasonably priced than Plaka / Georgos beaches. Lovely atmosphere. I went to El Greco a few times as they had a good offer for third row sunbeds at €15 for the day.

Beach
Pyrgaki Beach is a serene and unspoiled gem in northern Naxos, offering a true escape from commercialism. Divided into rugged, pebbly northern shores and golden sandy southern stretches, it provides a mesmerizing seascape. With limited sunbeds and water sports facilities, it's perfect for unwinding by the crystal-clear waters. Surrounded by cedar trees and boasting shallow green-blue waters, this tranquil beach attracts fewer crowds due to occasional winds.
Excellent beach! It’s like a private paradise! I don’t know the prices for umbrellas and beach chairs as we take our own stuff, but there are a couple of them to rent there. Shallow water, super transparent! Huge parking lot.
C T — Google review
Two sunbeds plus umbrella are 30€, which is OK. Very clean and not crowded beach. It’s good to have sea shoes.
Emil S — Google review
A hidden gem! The first part of the beach, the one after Aliko is wild, with sand and pebbles, with rocky entrance into the sea and pretty windy. However, the southern part of the beach, the one after the sandy hill is amazing. That part is all sandy, with shallow enterance into the water. The sand is very thin and without any pebbles. There is also an organised part of the beach, with sunbeds and umbrellas, for a very reasonable price (5€ for 2 sunbeds&umbrella).
Alexandru B — Google review
Beautiful beach however the seabed is composed of some sort of rocky plaques, which isn’t very inviting. It was windy when we visited and the beach rather empty, we watched the sunset and had the beach to ourselves.
Mike — Google review
Desert beach not too far from Chora city, 30min by scooter but you’ll be alone quite and relaxed, pay attention to the sea urchin !!! There are many so I’ll suggest to watch carefully where you put your feet
A V — Google review
Nice beach with a Tavern one or two hundred metres away from the water. Warmest water till now (We visited some before) and very clear too. Two sunbeds plus Umbrella are 5€, which is OK. The sunbeds are standing all near by each other, looks quite lonely there. Not too many people were there which is nice. Hard to reach by scooter, not because there's no real road but because the road is completely covered in sand which makes the ride quite dangerous for inexperienced drivers. Nothing the beach itself is causing so it gets the 4 stars.
Maddin8 — Google review
Great big sandy beach. Not deep at all, water is indeed a little warmer than average. Check the rightmost part of bay for it. Just a dozen of paid sunbeds with umbrellas but we really enjoyed ourselves under our own - send is good enough to handle it against the wind. No showers or changing rooms, just pure nature :)
Sergey K — Google review
Lovely semi secluded beach. Only a few people. Nice cabanas with beach and water protected from wind. Very rocky and shallow. Safe place for kids and for novice snorkeling

Agios Prokopios is a charming seaside village located on the island of Naxos, Greece. It is renowned for its stunning beaches along the Aegean Sea, making it a beloved destination for tourists. With a population of 222 residents, this coastal town offers all the comforts of a dedicated beach vacation spot while being conveniently close to Naxos Town and the airport. The area caters largely to foreign visitors but still retains its authentic Greek culture with numerous tavernas and traditional restaurants.

Alyko Beach in Naxos is a hidden gem with its pristine sands, turquoise waters, and ample snorkeling opportunities. It's surrounded by one of the largest cedar forests in Greece, making the scenery truly stunning. The area spans 800 square meters and features several species of cedar, heather, and wildflowers. There are four small sandy beaches to explore, each offering its own unique charm.
Hands down my favourite experience at this end of Naxos island. If it’s all about aesthetics then you have all you need here from the stunning clear waters to the juxtaposition of the dry mountain terrains in the back ground to the pretty and quaint little church perched on the point. I could have sat on that beach or in the water for hours. Has a nifty little food truck on the main road and nearby hotel ruins, graffiti and Hawai beach. Beach was sandy with a few pebbles on your way into the water. No toilets. Quintessential Greek island secluded beach. 30+ min drive from Naxos chora perfect for a daytrip. Northern winds couldn’t reach it.
Kat D — Google review
Great view but the beach is nothing special. On the island you can enjoy in a much more beautiful beaches than here. There is a good view fom the rocks and cristal clear water
Boban V — Google review
This was one of our favorite beaches on Naxos! We loved walking around the old hotel ruins and admiring the street art before making our way to the beach. We were worried about finding a safe access point, but if you walk from the hotel side and keep an eye out, there is mini ravine that makes getting to the beach very safe and easy.
Anza J — Google review
Beautiful, quiet beach with soft sand and crystal-clear water—feels almost private. Best accessed by car or ATV. Great for a few peaceful hours before hopping to another beach. No sunbeds or shops nearby, so bring drinks and gear. A hidden gem in Naxos!
Julian M — Google review
A very good beach, but not our favorite of the 3....Hawaii, Alyko, and Psilli Ammos. (the last one we liked the most.) The sand at Alyko is very soft and we liked the wildness of the area, an easy walk for a short distance through the Cedar Forest of Alyko to find the beach. We visited this beach on a warm sunny day in early October. Because it was off-season, parking was plentiful. (Park on the road where the photo has circled "P"). The only drawback was how many people eventually came here after we did. We arrived around 13:00 on Sunday, and there was plenty of empty space around our blanket. Within the hour, the beach began to have many people, all crowded into a small area. So be prepared to have people nearby if you are coming in warmer months.
Ed M — Google review
We enjoyed our time at this beach! Park along the road and walk to the beach. There are trash cans and portapotties nearby. There was a food truck when we visited. There is not much natural shade. The side closer to the hotel ruins is more rocky, the other side is sandier.
Jed T — Google review
Perfect waters! More accessible than Hawaii (must visit both). Ideal for a windy day!!! Walk to the ruins - amazing view🔥🔥🔥
Melina K — Google review
Our favorite beach in Naxos! The road to get here takes you to a dead end where there is an abandoned resort. However, I suggest parking on the side of the road beforehand and then walking towards the bushes. It will lead you to a cliff and beautiful view of the beach! Safely find a spot to walk down and depending on the year you can find tons of secluded spots to set up shop in. There are rocks in the water so be careful not to cut yourself. Once you make it past the rocks then its easier to swim and float around. A lot of people also appear to tan topless or nude here (European style) and it's completely acceptable!

Agia Anna Beach, located just south of Agios Prokopios, is a vibrant beach with turquoise waters and a variety of beach clubs and tavernas. The northern end can get wavy at times, but the southern end near the port offers calm waters, making it ideal for families with children. At the southernmost point of the western coast lies Marangas and Plaka beaches, both offering wide sandy areas with some trees and free spaces.
Good spot for snorkling. From a swimming distance from the beach, there is a rock reef with lots of fishes and even turtles if you're lucky. Crystal clear waters and gret sunset. Saw a cuttlefish and 2 octopus, had the best day.
Gautier S — Google review
Best place on Naxos! For me the best beach I have ever seen. Quite small, often quiet, family friendly, with amazing restaurants that replace sunbeds with tables aroun 6, 7 pm so you can literally spend here whole day. You can also find places with reasonable prices. Paradise!
Thomas P — Google review
A lovely beach with so many beachfront bars with sunbeds all along it. It might be best to book ahead if you have a particular favourite as some places couldn't accommodate our large extended family. However, we found a spot and made ourselves comfortable. Lovely sea to swim in with big waves every 30 minutes or so after the big ferries pass by.
Julie — Google review
The beach is beautiful although there are quite some rocks. Also the beach cafes/bars are absolutely tragic. 40€ sunbeds PLUS 40€ consumption per set is absolutely disgusting and such a tourist trap. Agios Prokopios has much better beaches without rocks and the pricing is very much better. Be careful also if you’re at Agia Anna with the bus, it doesn’t have much to do except going to the beach bars/cafes. Don’t waste your day.
Xrysonii B — Google review
I would not recommend this beach, specially when very close by there are other better beaches. The main issues were 1) the large amount of beach bars, 2) the port nearby making the water a bit dirtier, and 3) the strong winds (when other beaches had less wind). One suggestion if you do choose to go here: walk south until after you pass a small rock formation dividing the beach into two (near where the boats are stationed). The south side has better sand and more space for umbrellas, and a little bit less wind.
Luis — Google review
Agia Anna Beach is simply stunning! The crystal-clear waters and serene atmosphere make it a true paradise. With plenty of space to spread out and relax, complete with beach chairs and umbrellas, it's the perfect spot for a day of sun and sea. Plus, the surrounding area offers a plethora of fantastic restaurants to satisfy any craving. Overall, Agia Anna Beach is a must-visit destination for anyone looking to soak up the beauty of Naxos's coastline.
Roopie R — Google review
Worst beach experience in Greece. Its one giant tourist trap, the beach clubs occupy all the room on the beach and the only small portion without paid chairs is next to a busy road. Go literally anywhere else unless you enjoy being scammed out of 30-50 €
Giovanni — Google review
Feels like paradise! Gorgeous sand, clear blue water. Visited in early June and it was peaceful and relaxing. Lots of options for beds and umbrellas, or just a towel and the shade. Lots of great options for lunch, dinner and cocktails.

Mikri Vigla Beach, located in Naxos, Greece, is a stunning destination with its golden sand and clear turquoise waters. Divided into north and south sides by granite slabs and boulders, the beach offers a rare geological phenomenon of impressive rocky formations and cedar trees. It's popular among visitors for its two sides that provide options for swimming and relaxation regardless of the wind direction.
Our favourite beach in Naxos. We went here a few times. It has a secret beach around the rocks with its own natural pool. The water is unbelievably clear and sheltered on windy days. Not too crowded with some shady spots. Only one small section of chairs so it’s mostly natural which is awesome. Must visit while you are there.
Thivanka S — Google review
Absolutely loved this beach! You can either rent a sunbed (20–25€) or just relax on the soft sand with your own towel. The water is crystal clear and the sand is smooth—perfect for a chill day. I visited during the third week of September and it was ideal: warm, sunny, and not crowded at all. Just note, after 16:30 the wind picks up and the water starts to feel chilly.
Julian M — Google review
Beautiful beach with very unique stone formations. You can climb those and use them to chill or jump into the water (carefully). Water is crystal clear - see photos. Road leading here is nothing to be afraid of - regular car can reach it essily. There is big free parking nearby and some restaurants with all that is needed for a day spent on the beach.
Ľubomír Ž — Google review
Absolutely loved this beach at the right hand end away from the sunbeds. If you climb up over the rocks there is an awesome little cove which is very sheltered. We had a great day here. There’s a new bakery about 4 mins walk with super friendly staff.
Lynette M — Google review
My favourite beach in Naxos. There are some trees where you can hide from the sun. Crystal clear water and nicely sandy beach. Part with trees (closer to tavern) is unorganized but hidden from the wind. There is also a good tavern with good food and friendly staff.
Beata E — Google review
I feel weird rating a natural place like a beach. It’s not like the beach can improve itself 🤣 but anyway I do like that it’s well taken care of. In fact most of the Naxos beaches seemed to be well taken care of which makes me happy to see in a world full of unfortunately dirty trashy beaches🥲. So that’s great. Also we did get some umbrellas with sunbeds here which was nice. Just keep in mind it can be expensive. Btw the pina colada was my favorite pina colada from the whole trip ! ;)
Joanna C — Google review
An amazing beach … with crystal water and nice sand . I totally recommend. It’s had many options for food around , beach bars and also a taverna (restaurant) Usually many people visit that beach but it’s has space for everyone

Just a very beautiful beach, and even though it is a popular site, very calm and relaxing. Stuff to do (sea canoe, sea bike etc for hire) even some wind surfing and kite surfing schools a bit further down the beach. And at the north end you can park and find the Mikri Vigla beach restaurant - awesome !!

Orkos Beach is a serene and less crowded destination in Naxos, offering a peaceful retreat for visitors. The beach features golden sands and turquoise waters, complemented by impressive red hills that add an extra touch of color to the landscape. Nearby, Plaka Beach and other golden sand beaches provide opportunities for swimming, surfing, and enjoying breathtaking sunsets. The area is also known for its traditional white-washed studios with charming print furnishings that reflect the local culture.
Amazing beach: clean sand and wonderful water color (+ perfect visibility underwater). Not great for swimming when windsurfers arrive - in our case it was in the early afternoon - but a fantastic place to spend time at.
Oleg B — Google review
Absolute beautiful sandy beach and my favourite on Naxos for its sheer beauty of both the sand and the sea. Although beware if you want to sunbathe it is more windy than other beaches. Its about 1km long and is immediately after the popular Plaka beach. It is popular with windsurfers. We walked here from Agios Prokopios (long walk) but there is a dirt road for access and apparently there is also a asphalt road that connects to Naxos Town (about 10km away). From here it is fabulous to walk along the beaches either side – so beautiful. It was quiet when we visited (early May, start of the season).
Sue V — Google review
This is our favorite beach on Naxos, the sand is very coarse and clean, and even in the high wind, it doesn't blow in your eyes or onto your towel or clothes. There is constant entertainment as the kite suffers do tricks. Water is crystal clear, and there is an Italian restaurant close by that serves the best pizza on the island. If you visit Naxos, don't miss this gem!
Robin H — Google review
If you love water sports like kiting, wind surfing this is place for you. If you enjoy watching people doing watersports you will also find satisfaction here. Otherwise maybe not your best choice.
Žan — Google review
This is a very windy beach and there is a LOT of windsurfing. Not great for relaxing or enjoying ur time at the beach but great if you’re into extreme sports.
Juana K — Google review
Beautiful beach and entertaining to spectate the kite surfers. But it’s extremely windy so not a place to lounge or swim in. There’s a supermarket very close by so was fun to grab a beer and spectate.
Real Y — Google review
Nice beach especially for surfers/kite surfers/wind surfers. It was windy so it was not so enjoyable for me and my girlfriend. Although waters are very clean and sand is nice and rocky
Evagoras P — Google review
Lol i can’t believe this beach has 4.7. This is one of the worst beaches in Naxos. Wind is so strong you cannot do anything here, you can’t sit, you can’t swim, i don’t understand how can anyone even do water sports here, but ok. Water is so cold, and imagine going out from cold water into cold wind. I got allergic reaction to the cold, i had blisters all over my body. This NEVER happened to me anywhere, and i visited a lot of places and beaches in my life. I would never recommend to anyone to swim here or stay here (because wind throws sand in the face so much, it burns). Maybe take a pic and run.

Agios Georgios Beach is a family-friendly destination with open-air restaurants and bars, offering sun lounger and windsurfing rentals. The area is home to the beautiful Fragias Boutique Hotel, just a short walk from Naxos town and the local beach. The hotel provides spacious rooms with a Cycladic feel and personal touches, along with a small kitchenette and a delicious homemade buffet breakfast featuring local specialties.
Lovely clean beach that was right next to my hotel. It was a sin not to enjoy it. I came here for a night walk as well as spent a day here before I left the island. Soft sand, clear water, calm waves, fishing, swimming around quite shallow even if walking far out. Had a wonderful time here
Luke L — Google review
Just amazing. Perfect beach for small kids. The water is very shallow, even 1 year old baby can stand in the water head up 10 m inside. A mid size person can swim more than 70m and still stand easily. Beautiful sunsets are guaranteed)) sunbeds as I understood depends on season can have different prices, around 30-50€.
Mkhitar G — Google review
An amazing beach with crystal-clear water and stunning views. The water is very shallow, making it perfect for kids. The right side of the beach has rocky areas, ideal for snorkeling enthusiasts. You can rent a chair, or take advantage of the public section where you’re welcome to bring your own umbrella and chairs to enjoy the day.
Lena V — Google review
Great beach with lots of mica so it looks like everything is sparkling. The water is crystal clear. There are lots of beach chairs to rent for the day that are very comfortable but you should still arrive earlier in the day as they start to fill up. Plenty of options for food and drinks nearby. Bus stop across the way to get around.
Shannon O — Google review
I love this beach!!! Coming with a 10/12yo, this beach was perfect for my kids. Lots of families around with kids enjoying the sand and the water. There is wind here, but so much calmer than Plaka beach, where the sand was pelting my legs after being blown at me by the wind. Affordable beach chairs / umbrellas. This inlet has shallow water that goes up to your knees / thighs for many yards out. So fun to let the waves hit you. Soft sand that does not hurt your feet. And bonus: windsurfing in the background, which is so peaceful to watch. Lots of little bars and restaurants, making it easy to be able to stay all day. My kids LOVED it and I felt like they were safe in the shallow waters. I would recommend this beach to anyone with kids looking to escape the winds of the south beaches. There is free parking at the beach and if we ever came back, I would stay at one of these beach hotels.
Anita S — Google review
Even though it might look convenient to go here if you'te staying in town I would not go here. The beach is a little dirty and the water isn't as blue as the beach in Prokopios and Plaka. They are easy to reach with the public bus and it's definitely worth the short trip.
Rik — Google review
Perfect beach for amenities, bars, restaurants etc, great for little kids as you can sit and have a drink and they can play on the beach and the sea is really shallow and takes a while to get deep
Charlotte H — Google review
Very Shallow beach with small but very fun waves, perfect for families with young children. Was there with my kids ranging 6-15 and we loved the waves, the water is so shallow you can safely play with fear, even for non swimmers. Water is very clean and lots of room to lay your own towels and umbrella

Visitors can savor locally caught seafood at the village's tavernas and explore the 6th-century BCE Kouros statue nearby. The area also boasts proximity to ancient sites like the Temple of Demeter and picturesque villages such as Sangri, Melanes, and Koronos.
There are two sides to this beach. If you drive to the East portion it is all stones/pebbles and rough waters with one taverna. Positive is though it’s quiet. On the West portion there is a small, sandy beach surrounded by several great tavernas offering selection of drinks, ice cream and authentic Greek food…for takeout to the beach or eat-in. When we visited the beach was quite busy but there was still plenty of room. Around 3-4pm several tour buses came in for about an hour and it got very busy, but then got quiet again. The beach is not as rough here, nice and sandy, but there was some floating seaweed…not enough to ruin the enjoyment of the water. Overall, we highly recommend the drive here, and if we back in Naxos we will visit again.

Visited this beach on a day tour and personally I found it to be far nicer than Agios prokopios which is purportedly the best beach on the island.

Very nice and charming town. The beach can easily be full since is very small. However, the ambience is quite unique surrounded with cafes, local restaurants and free showers.

Apollonas is a picturesque village located on the northeastern coast of Naxos, one of the Cyclades islands in Greece. The beach in Apollonas is known for its serene and tranquil atmosphere, making it a perfect spot for relaxation and escape from the crowds. The beach itself is a mix of sand and pebbles, with clear, turquoise waters that are inviting for swimming and snorkeling. The surrounding landscape is characterized by rugged cliffs and lush greenery, creating a stunning contrast with the blue sea. In the village of Apollonas, you can find traditional Greek tavernas and cafes along the waterfront, offering delicious local cuisine and fresh seafood. The area is also known for the ancient Kouros statue, a partially completed marble statue dating back to the 6th century BC, which lies in an ancient quarry nearby. Overall, Apollonas beach is a beautiful and peaceful destination, ideal for those looking to experience the natural beauty and rich history of Naxos.

Very nice small beach that becomes crowded on the afternoon hours. There is almost no wind but there are mid waves. Restaurants are in the front of the beach so you will easily find a way to taste fresh fish.

Agiassos Beach, nestled on the southern coast of Naxos, is a hidden gem that offers a serene escape from the island's more crowded tourist spots. This expansive sandy beach boasts shallow turquoise waters, making it an excellent choice for families looking to enjoy a day by the sea. Surrounded by lush green hills that beautifully contrast with the vibrant blue of the water, Agiassos provides a picturesque setting for relaxation and exploration.
No people, very windy, lots of parking. Clean water. Easy to access

Lovely location with a great view of the sea set just back off the coastal track road . Really nice friendly service from the young guy who served us . Good value and nice simple Greek food. The fried cheese balls with honey are epic! Worth a stop definitely and to relax on their terrace under the trees.

Overrated... especially during a windy day. The sand just gets in your ears, in your eyes and in everything you are carrying with you. It's practically impossible to sit and enjoy the view. The water is crystal clear though and there aren't any waves. There are no beach bars in the area, so you won't find umbrellas and seating options. Moreover, there isn't any shade: you will only find some trees in the parking area.

Psili Ammos beach, located on the eastern side of Naxos near the fishing village of Moutsouna, is a hidden gem with its fine sands and unspoiled slopes. This secluded stretch of coast offers calm, shallow waters ideal for swimming and families. Despite the lack of facilities, visitors are drawn to its natural charm and picturesque panorama. The beach is far removed from central cities, making it an unorganized recreation area perfect for a relaxing getaway.
I spent a day on this lovely beach in late October and was totally alone all day. I was lucky that I found a bush that protected me from the N wind! The east coast of Naxos is deserted at this time of year, and I felt wonderfully alone in the world!

Easy to reach from the road, we were like 20 people in July. So good to be away from the crowds.

Amazing beach. Fine white sands, clear turquoise waters, and you can walk out quite a ways because it is very shallow and wide beach. Very quiet so great for a quiet relaxing beach visit if that’s what you like. Because it’s quiet there are no sun beds or tavernas nearby so bring a towel to lie on and your own snacks if you want food and drinks there. On our day it was also quite windy, but that helps us stay cool on a hot sunny day!

Beautiful secluded beach. On the southern part there are some small coves that if you want some privacy you can chill there. Overall great beach

Very nice beach with crystal clear water even during the windy days! A lot of trees for natural shade but better bring an umbrella if you arrive late. The road from chora is full of turns and quite far but the beach really worths the drive! After the beach you can also go to Moutsouna that is famous for fresh fish!

Nice , quiet , family beach. Bring your own umbrella and chair. If not their are plenty of shade spots in the sand hills(best place to get a nice summer beach nap)
Chris T — Google review
Excellent sandy beach. Clear water and not built up or overlooked. This is probably a much more quiet area than the beaches on the west of the island, it certainly was off-season. There are piles of bark from the surrounding trees, which make interesting formations with the waves. Very clean otherwise.

Fantastic beach - trees along the sand where tou can shelter from the sun. Shallow and sandy - crystaline waters and no rocks! Not much sea life - not great for snorkling if you are into that. Akti Kastraki Beach Complex Naxos is an unpretentious apartment hotel located opposite the beautiful Kastraki Beach, offering stunning sea views and a relaxing atmosphere. The area is known for its unspoiled natural beauty and classic Greek island charm, with small family-run hotels and apartments providing affordable accommodations with picturesque sea views. The beach complex offers comfortable umbrellas and sunbeds, a restaurant serving a variety of food at regular prices, and attentive staff including the helpful owner Athina.
Quiet rooms well apportioned on the beach in Kastraki. Not much walkable nearby, but wonderful staff, beautiful location on the water (walk from your rooms down to essentially a private beach). If you want to relax in well maintained, thoughtful rooms, this is the place! Thoroughly enjoyed our stay here with young kids as well, nice place to regroup after a busy day. A few tavernas nearby, and about equidistant to mountain towns and the old town.

Best place to enjoy the whole day in Naxos island! From enjoying breakfast and brunch at the restaurant to spending time on the sunbeds. This place has everything to offer. Breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks and cocktails! The service is superb and fast, the staff friendly and kind, the quality of the food is over the top with huge portions yet normal prices! The whole experience was amazing 11/10. Would totally recommend to anyone visiting Naxos. A must visit place!!!

We stayed here for our honeymoon and absolutely loved it! The owners are incredible they treat you like family, always making sure you’re taken care of. They gave us a daily itinerary of where to drive and what to see, which helped us explore the island from top to bottom and hit all the key landmarks and towns! The hotel itself is gorgeous very modern and comfortable, yet still full of authentic Greek culture and architecture. The location is perfect, the food and drinks are fantastic, and the beach is stunning. What we loved most is that it feels tucked away with the locals, not crowded with tourists: a true home away from home. Absolutely highly recommend this place for all traveling to Naxos, especially for a honeymoon. We honestly don’t want to leave!

The food and service here were good. Had no expectations and just needed a place to relax. Two rolls of sunbeds and we took the second row as it was 25 vs 35 for two. The food was slow but we were not in a rush. Nothing special. We ordered a cheese burger, a chicken club sandwich and Greek salad. All was good. Salad was very fresh, burger was warm and fries were good. Had an aperol spritz was good. Area is super chill and nice place to relax. Good price is good. They have a nice WC. The beach around is beautiful. The clearest water but a little bit of waves. Not the calmest water if you are planing to bring young kids like I did. And no place to rinse off that I saw.

Not really that impressed with the beach bar, or the whole beach itself, it's a stony strip of beach, the tarmac road stops 500 meters and changes to a rocky unpathed track, so you could risk getting a puncher in your tyre there are better beaches, your better to stop and the little fishing village of moutsouna where it has a nice sandy beach with beautiful bar and restaurants, and no risk of a puncher in your car tyre, very disappointed

Amitis Beach is a secluded and tranquil destination located on the southernmost point of Naxos' western coast. With no beachfront facilities, visitors can enjoy the peaceful surroundings without crowds or distractions. The beach features natural sandy shores with some pebbles near the water's edge and clear waters suitable for swimming.
Beautiful beach that feels secluded and peaceful, a bit from the main roads and all people. Can be quite windy and gets deep, quick. Not suitable for smaller children.

Amitis Beach is a long and wild sandy beach. I enjoyed spending few hours here on my way back to Naxos Chora waiting for the sunset. There are big waves and little stones on the water's edge so it is not very easy to swim here. Wind is not so strong.

Hawaii Beach in Naxos, Greece is a remote and serene sandy strip with smooth rock formations and stunning views of nearby hotel ruins. The beach is known for its vertical reddish cliffs that create a striking contrast with the yellow sand and blue waters. It's a tranquil spot where naturists may be spotted, although they tend to prefer the more isolated Kedros beach nearby. Accessible from Alyko, there are no public buses directly to the beach, but visitors can walk from there.
Absolutely beautiful place, had it all to myself for sunset. The hotel ruins have some amazing street art and the path down to the secluded beach is plenty doable. The water is crystal clear (like most of Naxos) and watching the sun set over the nearby islands was magical
Karen F — Google review
Beach itself had shade for the first half of the day which was handy because there is absolutely nothing else for shade. No toilets. Shore had enough depth for a swim and it had sand for added comfort. Nice views of Paros. Well protected from the northern winds currently smashing Naxos chora. 30min+ drive. Busses apparently do run there but I went by taxi. A short stroll through dry sandy shrub-land from the road. The trail going down to the beach won’t suit people with knee problems or larger frames. I enjoyed the beach but nearby Alyko beach in my opinion was better (max 200m walk) had stunning views of nearby mountains and the little church perched on the point. Dreamy. Water felt calmer there. Definitely worth visiting too as well as the abandoned hotel with graffiti. There’s also a great little food truck on the road for lunch and icecream which hit the spot. All within easy walking distance. A nice little daytrip itinerary for any solo travellers. Felt safe and wasn’t too crowded.
Kat D — Google review
Hawaii Beach is a wonderful small beach tucked under cliffs, giving it a quiet, private feel. It’s a beautiful spot, more suited for couples than families. The wind hits constantly, so it has more waves than other beaches, but still safe enough for kids to enjoy. No facilities around, so bring your own stuff. Definitely a must-visit stop in Naxos.
Julian M — Google review
Wonderful Beach with beautiful Rocks(clay) There is no Road to get to the beach. Need to climb down from Rocks. Worth to visit. We spend while day with kids. Nice Beach, suitable also for small Kids.
U-aura U — Google review
Rocky in most parts and not a super easy access but liked the little private cover along the beach. No shade so may want to bring cover.
Becky K — Google review
No facilities to speak off but a huge amount of parking and a short walk over scrubland to the beach. Take everything you need: locals had rigged up sunshades and brought cool boxes. We just had towels. Wet shoes might also be useful as there were a couple of anemones near a rocky patch. Choose your area carefully for easy access into the sea. Once you're in it's beautiful! A great place to fly a kite too.
Julie — Google review
Some of the reviews and photos are getting Hawaii Beach confused with Alyko Beach. The hotel ruins in some photos are barely visible from Hawaii Beach, but dominate Alyko Beach, so they really are meaningless to your understanding of Hawaii Beach. The main thing about Hawaii Beach is that you have to navigate a ravine, a narrow passage between rock walls to get to the sand. It's not difficult for most people, just crawl low and touch walls to steady yourself, and you'll be fine. The beach itself is clean, narrow but very pleasant, with good views to Paros. I'd say the difficulty to reach it by foot makes it more pristine than most beaches because visitors must travel light, and pack just the essentials.
Ed M — Google review

Kalantos Beach, located on Naxos Island, may not be as popular as other beaches due to its distance from Chora town, but it offers a serene and unspoiled setting. Accessible by car with a relatively easy dirt road, this sandy beach is unorganized, so visitors should bring their own umbrella for shade. Despite its remote location, the beach features three charming taverns serving delicious food amidst stunning scenery.
Naxos hidden gem of a beach. Crystal clear water that has silky soft sand. Absolutely stunning! The only downside is the monstrosity of a concrete "port" that wasn't made to support the local environment. A Naxian eye sore! But needless to say, the beach and bay are huge, and you can easily avoid that aweful section.
Mark C — Google review
This would have been a beautiful spot - until they started building a harbour here. There's currently a lot of building work/noise, and it's definitely not somewhere to relax on the beach. I'd recommend the beaches at the southern end of the west coast, or on the east coast, over this.
Emily M — Google review
Not sure if its worth the hustle to get here by car, it has a small port that daily cruises and people with their own boats use when visiting this beach. There are three taverns here, worth visiting since the scenery and the food are gorgeous. The sand is thin and when the air is too strong, a very comon thing in naxos, it can get a little annoying; we went into the sea for an hour or so and when we came out, our things were half burried by the airborne sand.
TestSubject1 — Google review
So far these are the less crystal clear waters i have seen in Naxos, plus in the centre/right part of the beach it's rather difficult to get in the water due to rocky and slippery seabed. The only part that seems lovely is the far right (close to the church) but water is shallow there. I agree that the itinerary to the beach is stunning giving you unique views of Naxos but that's the highlight. Maybe only if you are a local and seek tranquility or if you have many many days to spend in Naxos, otherwise the island is literally packed with better beaches and clearer waters.
Pagrati S — Google review
Totally remote and stunning beach. Not organized. Great drive getting there through Mount Zeus Park

Amazing beach forgotten by Greeks, proudly sought after Italians and Germans who appreciate it wild beauty its semplicity and the fact that is never crowded! It’s a typical not touristic place for those who love quiet and preserved places! It’s suitable for naturists too and has two good tavernas around to eat fresh fish at good prices! Kalados is the perfect place for those who own a yacht. It has a good port fully equipped for medium yachts is accessible from Filoti village (24 km) or by the sea. A must for all lovers of nice and preserved places!

Naxos, the largest of the Cyclades islands, is a treasure trove of history and natural beauty. The island boasts seven museums showcasing artifacts from various periods, including the Archaeological Museum with exhibits dating back to the Neolithic period. Visitors can explore ancient ruins like the doorlike remains of the Temple of Apollo and wander through Chora's Venetian castle.

A beautiful Portara on Naxos, located out on a small rocky islet connected to the mainland by a easy walkable path. Beautiful view looking back at the town and port. I wanted to make it out for sunset, but it was cloudy. A definite must do when in Naxos.

Beautiful site. Best seen during the day if you want to avoid crowds. However, the sunset there is stunning if you’re happy to share the space with a large crowd 👌 the site is free which is great and is literal only a few minutes from the port and a plethora of restaurants and the Venetian castle which is also stunning
Rosalie H — Google review
Beautiful temple remains, look absolutely stunning lit up at night (and you miss the crowds). Nice manageable steps and path, though it gets a bit slippery in the rain. Great views back into the town as well.
Claudia S — Google review
If you’re in Naxos, this is definitely a must-visit. The view from the temple is absolutely mesmerizing—worth every step. The whole visit doesn’t take more than 15 minutes, but the breathtaking scenery makes it unforgettable. Standing there, overlooking the sea, you can almost hear your own heartbeat.
Reine N — Google review
Come here at sunset, like all the other tourists. (If the weather is good.) It's a must see, must do experience. The golden light makes the stone glow. Somewhere in the large crowd on the day of our visit, an unknown disrespectful idiot was flying a drone above the Portara. Please stay home with your drone. And don't pretend to be Hercules and pick up a large stone like someone did recently. The Temple of Apollo may be unfinished except for this Portara, but let it be as it is. Please.
Ed M — Google review
Obviously very crowded during sunset. The views are nice but you can find many more better places on the island to enjoy same views. The temple is surrounded by high and ugly fence which is visible on all pictures. Pity not many descriptions exist or I simply missed them in the crowd.

The Temple of Demeter, also known as the Temple of Sangri, is a historic site located near the village of Sangri on Naxos island. Dating back to 6th century BC, this ancient temple was constructed using high-quality Naxian marble and is dedicated to the goddess of grain. The hilltop ruins offer a glimpse into early Ionic architectural style and are considered a precursor to the famous Parthenon.
The bad reviews are really bothering me. I WALKED all the way from Naxos Old Town and back (25km) and still think it was worth it. This place is amazing, the atmosphere, the cultural and historical importance and a small modern museum, it has everything. Of course this is not the biggest ancient temple you will see in Greece but it is still pretty cool. The valley is beautiful and so calm. At first I didn't really cared about the museum but still decided to go and I was positively surprised. You are so close to everything exposed and most of the signs are translated in English. The museum is small but there is no empty corner, cool stuff everywhere. You can really feel this is a special place when you are there. Oh and the little path takes like 2 minutes to climb from the street, if you think this is too much and there should be a parking on top stay in America. (Wheelchair accessible by the way)
Gabriel C — Google review
Beautiful ancient temple partly restored to its former glory. You can take a look around and learn something about the history of this place. There is a small museum you can visit and read more if interested. The whole place is really tidied up and shows that a lot of thought went into the restoration process. Parking is done alongside if the main road and can be tricky for bigger cars but definitely manageable.

The Temple of Demeter is a stunning ancient monument, the best-preserved on the island. The drive there is truly delightful, offering beautiful landscapes, charming traditional villages with great food, and old rural mills from past centuries. The organization and safeguarding of the site are exemplary. Be sure to first visit the site’s museum to understand its significance and see the temple models, so you can visualize how it once stood complete and intact.

Nice ruins and museum (with a w/c) It was a breeze to explore compared to the Acropolis. Beautiful country side. We combined this with seeing the old Jesuit Monastery close by after which made for a great 1/2 day exploring Naxos.

Joined a local Island tour for the day, this was the first destination. Demeter Temple being the godness who blesses the harvest. Like many other Temple in Greece, the weather has broken down majority of the structure but it is still possible to see the foundation and some basic shape of the temple upon the hard work being done for restoration. there is a museum nearby if you wish to learn more about the temple. our group was lucky enough to visit on a day that the entry being free~

Nice outing, history is amazing, small museum $5e fee, worth the drive while in Naxos. Closes on Tuesdays and open until 330pm in the falll/winter.

Walk from the car park is not bad at all. Walked there from Naxos town- I'd think twice before doing this, but the site was good. I lost 20 Euros there too, so that's available if anyone can find it. Be aware that the last entry is at 3:10 pm, for a 3:30 closing.

As a Greek who loves our history i find it cool to visit such monuments, but for tourists who visit our country, trust me when i say that the monument and the museum are well worth your time!✅✅ ➡️VERY IMPORTANT: do bring cash with you as cards are not accepted. Also, on Tuesday it remains closed.

The Archaeological Museum of Naxos is located in a building that reflects the island's architectural style during the Latin rule. It was once home to the Jesuits' Academy and later housed the 'Emporiki Scholi' (School of Commerce) visited by Nikos Kazantzakis. The museum displays significant artifacts from excavations on Naxos and neighboring islands, dating from the Neolithic Age to the late Roman period.
I really enjoyed this very small, unassuming, local museum and connected with its displays more than I have in bigger, fancier museums. I spent much more time there than I would have expected to for such a small place. There's something about being there, up close, just you and the artifacts, without the big, echo-y, glitzy architecture as a distraction. Admission is free. Definitely worth a visit, IMO.
Diane S — Google review
It is a small museum, and there is not much to see due to the renovation work. What's on display is very limited with very limited information on them. I really wanted to see the mosaics, but that section it was closed. The museum is located inside the old school. The museum is free to enter.
Angie O — Google review
The museum is located quite high up—specifically on the second floor—and can be accessed from multiple directions. If you’re using a stroller, you’ll need to take the elevator that leads to the café on the fourth floor and then go down the stairs from there. The exhibition is simple but features several important pieces, such as Cycladic figurines, vases decorated with sea creatures like octopuses, a small pig-shaped vessel, and glass containers. It’s worth a quick visit.
Dimosthenis V — Google review
Currently, Free Entry. The Archaeological Museum of Naxos is one of the most important museums in the world due to its early Cycladic collection which includes the famous marble figurines. It boasts unique works of art and objects of daily use from Naxos and the so-called Little Cyclades complex, which highlight the history of the Aegean region. Currently the Museum is closed since it is part of the project 'Islet of Museums in the Castle of Chora, Naxos' which is in progress of works. In the frame of this project, the Museum will be fully renovated so as to be included in a network of museums and other venues of cultural interest in the Castle of Chora, Naxos. From the 15th of May 2021 and for as long as the project lasts a 'Temporary Exhibition' of the Archaeological Museum of Naxos is available on the second floor of the Cultural Center 'Saint Ursula' at the former Ursulines Monastery of the Holy Catholic Archbishopric of Naxos, offering an enjoyable travel to the island's significant archaeological past.
Dimitris V — Google review
At the moment most of it is closed for renovation. It's just one room with about 20 glass cases for the next couple of years. If you've already been to any other Greek museum you can give this a miss. Not much to see until the museum fully opens again in a couple of years. The gift shop has more space currently
Dave T — Google review
As of 2025 the castle is undergoing renovations, but there aren’t many other places to see recognizable kitchenware from the Stone Age alongside Classical Age artifacts a thousand years younger. Free and recommended.
Steven S — Google review
Do not miss when in Naxos!!! Located in the amazing Castle of Chora, the buildning is beautiful, the former Ursulines Monastery. The early Cycladic collection of tha famous marble figurines is fantastic.
Katerina C — Google review
Only a small temporary exhibit was open, but it was free. Some findings date back to 5,000-6,000 years ago! Having such a small exhibit open meant that we really looked at the details of the pieces, it was a really good half an hour.

Tortuga Beach Bar & Restaurant is a beachfront establishment located at the Naxian on the Beach hotel. The food and drinks are excellent, and guests can enjoy great service while relaxing on the beach. Visitors staying at the Naxian have the convenience of paying for their orders directly or charging them to their room for settlement later.
Any negative reviews are outdated, we were here today and everything was perfect. Amazing (and very chic) friendly hostess/owner, bartenders, and staff. All kind and helpful. Fried potatoes are some of the best on the island. Very reaonably priced (menu pic included) and ⭐️they provide towels⭐️, which most beach clubs don't. Unspoiled beach, wonderfully tranquil and relaxed atmosphere. If you are looking for a more intense party vibe go elsewhere.

This was our third time returning to Tortuga Beach, and it never fails to feel like paradise. From the moment you arrive, the staff make you feel at home, friendly, attentive, and effortlessly chic. The beach club has an amazing vibe, with beautiful surroundings and food that’s always a treat. A few years ago we stayed in the suite at Tortuga, and ever since, we’ve kept coming back. The atmosphere is unmatched, combining relaxation, style, and a sense of comfort that makes you want to return year after year. Truly a place that stays with you.

We have often had a cocktail here before dinner – however, we have not eaten here yet. The cocktails we tried are all very tasty and well made. They always serve some snacks or chips with them. The service is very nice and attentive. The place is stylishly decorated, and there is a beautiful view of the sea and the mountains inland on the island.
Andre B — Google review
Tortuga was the best. Vibe is super chill, the beach beds are comfy, and there’s plenty of space so you’re not too close to your neighbors. Prices are average, staff is so sweet, and the food is great (on different occasions we tried a few things including the beetroot hummus, horiatiki, club sandwich with naxian potatoes) - highly recommend.
Emme D — Google review
Lovely relaxing spacious beach club with the best cocktails, like Spicey Margerita and Watermelon Hugo. There are different constructions for the beds: from 60+€ for the front row to €30 per set, or free with min. €40 spending. The food is very good and big portions! Our favourite, we love the space and the service!
Monique K — Google review
We spent 4 incredible days at Tortuga Beach Bar! From the beginning, we were looking for a peaceful and classy spot on Plaka Beach, and we found it right away. The sunbeds are perfectly spaced along the beachfront, offering options to suit every taste. The beach service was excellent—special thanks to George, who helped us with our sunbeds every day, and to the whole team at the bar for their warm hospitality. I would highly recommend this beach bar, especially for couples looking for a relaxing and elegant experience.
Juraj P — Google review
Some places feed more than your appetite. At Tortuga, tucked along the coast of Naxos, we didn’t just eat, we were welcomed, nourished, remembered. We arrived by chance. We left with a memory. The space is open, wooden, softly lit, designed with ease and intention. The sea murmurs in the background, the breeze wraps around you, and everything about the atmosphere whispers: breathe, slow down, you’re home. The food is something else. Not just delicious but devine. Every ingredient is carefully chosen. Most are grown by the owners themselves, right here on the island. Even the vegetables in the Greek salad, come straight from their land. You taste the difference. The beef tartare was silky and balanced, topped with a light foam and crisped shell, refined without ever being pretentious. The orzo, slow-cooked with tender Lamb meat and served in a rich, earthy jus, was deeply comforting. And then, the kind of moment you don’t forget! Maria, the luminous soul of Tortuga, brought us dessert as a gift. Chocolate mousse, strawberries, ice cream, delicate edible flowers. Not just a desert but a celebration that is Shared with joy. Even the cats that wander quietly between tables seem part of the experience. Gentle, present, peaceful. As if they know they’re somewhere safe, like we did. Tortuga doesn’t shout. It doesn’t try to impress. It simply opens its doors and says: you’re welcome here. We came unannounced. We’ll return with intention. And we’ll tell everyone we love to do the same.
Hiram A — Google review
Tortuga is a must-visit beach experience. High quality beds and shelters with a delicious and practical beach menu. The staff are attentive to people's needs and seem genuinely happy to be there. A perfect way to spend a summer day!

Nomad Beach Bar Restaurant Naxos is a trendy and modern beach bar located on Plaka beach. Visitors can enjoy sunbeds with great service, drinks, and food served directly on the beach. The restaurant offers a cozy and clean atmosphere with friendly staff. While slightly more expensive than other places in Naxos, it's worth the price for its delicious watermelon salad, fruit platter, Naxos cheese, and moscato d'Asti.
We had a lovely dinner at Nomad with our family of four and truly enjoyed the whole experience. The restaurant has a trendy, bohemian style that immediately sets a relaxed and welcoming tone. We were greeted warmly by the staff, and a very kind waiter seated us with a smile that made us feel at home right away. My wife and I started the evening with cocktails to wait for the dishes. The kids went for the classic fish and chips, which they happily devoured. I chose the marinated pork chops, and my wife had the lamb chops — both dishes were delicious and portion were good. We also shared a Greek salad that came with a little twist on the traditional recipe, nicely done and very fresh. There’s plenty of space around, so even with kids it’s a comfortable place to enjoy a relaxed meal. The staff were genuinely kid-friendly and attentive, which made a big difference. Definitely a spot we’d recommend — whether you’re with family or just looking for a good place to enjoy food and drinks in a laid-back setting.

Nice beach and good food but I would not recommend paying for the first row beds that get flooded by the water. We had to move to the third row after a couple hours because our beds were drenched and we almost lost our shoes and phones in the waves. We still had to pay full price because the waiter claims to have warned us when all he said is that the waves could go up a little higher but never said we would end up having to chase after our things in the ocean and moving rows.
Sóley P — Google review
Love this place! I had a late breakfast so I took greek yoghurt and a fresh juice which was basically a smoothie. Everything was so good and the portion is big. The service was amazing too, the staff is super friendly and nice. Definitely coming back.
Maja H — Google review
It’s a great beach, my kids loved it. We booked front row sunbeds and were able to keep an eye on them. They don’t give you towels, but if you ask they give you old towels and charge you for them. Service was a huge issue, there was only two people serving the beach and it was a challenge to get anyone’s attention. Again, they kept forgetting things we were asking for. The food is not great at all and I found it over priced.

Naxos Island Escape is a romantic boutique hotel offering stylish sea-view suites just a short distance from Plaka Beach. The suites are elegantly furnished and come with private terraces overlooking the sea, with Honeymoon Suites featuring indoor jacuzzis. Guests can enjoy produce from the hotel's organic garden, which is used in the breakfast and room service menus. Agios Georgios beach, located nearby, is popular among visitors due to its proximity to the island's capital and picturesque coastal landscapes.
My wife and I recently spent three nights at Naxos Island Escape as part of our honeymoon, and it was truly one of the highlights of our trip. This boutique hotel is a hidden gem. Its location is ideal—just a short 15 min drive from Chora (the main town) and walking distance to some of the island’s most beautiful beaches. The property itself is beautifully maintained, and the rooms are modern, clean, and extremely comfortable. Lots of room for parking as well. What really made our stay unforgettable was the hospitality of the owner, Marios. He went above and beyond on multiple occasions to ensure everything was perfect. From offering great recommendations on local sights to personally helping us secure reservations at fantastic nearby restaurants, his warmth and attentiveness stood out. Breakfast each morning was another delight. Marios prepared a huge spread of items and all very delicious. We often skipped lunch because it was so filling. We’ll absolutely be returning. Out of all the places we stayed during our two-week honeymoon in Greece, this was hands-down our favourite.

Naxos Island Escape was one of the highlights of the trip. The rooms are beautiful, well-maintained, and just steps from the beach — everything you could want for a relaxing stay. But what truly sets this place apart is Mario. He is incredibly kind, helpful, and always goes above and beyond to make sure you’re comfortable and have everything you need. You can really feel his care and pride in the place. Highly recommended — will definitely be back!
Poppy D — Google review
Highly recommended! Mario, the host, was very involved, hands on, responsive and supportive to all aspect of our trips. Taking amazing care of me and my family. Would highly recommend setting up a rental car before arriving if you are looking to explore other areas of Naxos - especially the main beaches. We had a wonderful time at the Island Escape!
Stephany S — Google review
An oasis of calm and comfort. The accommodation is excellent and within a couple of minutes from the sandy beach. Breakfast is homemade or local produce usually served by the host, Mario, who is enthusiastic and passionate about giving his guests everything you need. We definitely want to stay there again when we are next in Naxos.
David C — Google review
Wow!! We absolutely loved our stay here. From the moment we booked, Marios was so helpful, kind, and thoughtful, going above and beyond. He organized our rental car (which picked us up from the airport), and countless other things. The location on Plaka Beach is wonderful. A short walk down the gravel driveway and you are across the street from a beautiful beach, especially at sunset. The beach wasn't overly crowded. Each morning we had a delicious breakfast with cook to order eggs, a fruit platter, freshly squeezed orange juice, and homemade pastries. Marios helped us plan our daily itinerary every morning, including recommendations to eat and things to see. He didn't miss!! What an island oasis. We stayed 6 nights, and we wished it was more. We highly recommend visiting Naxos and staying here. There are a few restaurants within a 10-15 minute walk, and the adorable Naxos town is a short drive away, with free parking lots.
Emily B — Google review
Naxos Island Escape was truly a highlight of our trip. The rooms are spotless, beautifully designed, and just a few steps from the beach, making it the perfect spot to relax. What really makes the experience unforgettable is Mario — warm, attentive, and always willing to go the extra mile to ensure every detail is perfect. His dedication and genuine care shine through in everything. Couldn’t recommend it more — we’ll definitely return!
Fermin J — Google review
From the moment we arrived at Naxos Island Escape, Marios went above and beyond to make our stay truly special. He personally helped us arrange and negotiate a great deal on a rental car, ensuring we could explore the island with ease. His local knowledge was invaluable—he gave us amazing recommendations for places to see, must-visit beaches, and wonderful restaurants that we never would have found on our own. What really stood out was the genuine care and attention he showed throughout our stay. When our trip was coming to an end, Marios even arranged a late check-out so my daughter and I could enjoy one last relaxing day at the beach. That extra time made all the difference and left us with such great memories. If you want not just a beautiful place to stay, but also a host who treats you like family and ensures you make the most of your time in Naxos, look no further than Naxos Island Escape. Thank you, Marios, for making our visit unforgettable—we can’t wait to come back!

My husband and I stayed here four nights and absolutely loved it! Marios is a wonderful attentive host and gives helpful recs! His mom cooks wonderful food in the morning. The place is modern, cozy, and clean. The area is peaceful and quiet and very safe. You should rent a car, there is parking on the property, and then you can drive all over the island—to the mountain villages, into the main town Chora, and to the different beaches! You are steps away from Plaka Beach which is beautiful and more relaxed. There are some restaurants that are a 15-20 min walk away or you can drive to them. Highly recommend!!

Naxian on the Beach is a hidden gem that perfectly blends bohemian charm with luxurious comfort, making it an ideal retreat for couples seeking romance. Nestled at the southern end of Naxos' Plaka beach, this adults-only boutique hotel features cozy rooms adorned with wicker and bamboo decor, complete with terraces offering stunning sea views. Guests can indulge in whirlpool tubs and enjoy high-end linens in stylish bathrooms crafted from polished concrete.
Perfect location on Plaka beach. Very fair price off season. Has a Very Bohemian feel. Excellent service in all aspects, they even handled the car rental delivery to hotel for us. Maria is the best concierge. Beach access with drinks service to the beach. Rooms could benefit from an added desk and floor lamp and perhaps a screen door to the hot tub patio to keep the flying bugs out would get this place to 5 stars. Also towels and linens need replaced, but everything was clean. I would return here and also recommend it.
William V — Google review
The room was not clean. There were traces of dead insects on the wall which hadn’t been cleaned. I was grossed out to sleep in the room and very upset given the price we had paid. The balcony was disgusting and looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in months. The “jacuzzi” was horrible - there was a thick layer of dirt and plenty of insects on top. We shortened our stay and left after one night because it was simply horrible. We thought it would be an upscale hotel given the high price - but it is nothing like that and please trust the negative comments. The worst hotel we’ve stayed at in Greece over the years.
Anna G — Google review
We had been traveling for a month in Europe when we landed here. I wish we would have asked our travel agent more questions about this resort. The room was too small. If you stay here ask about the bathroom space incase there are rooms with more space. We couldn’t even fit a toothbrush in the bathroom and had to use the coffee stand to hold all our products which was a pain. They have another luxury resort which we wish we had stayed at. I will say the restaurant attached was delicious and the service was excellent. Very nice staff. Great beach location with service on the beach.
Carolynn Y — Google review
This property uses amazing photography techniques to make the rooms appear much more upscale than what they are. Reality: sheets are of the poorest quality. The pillows were yellow and stained when the case is removed. The mattress is old and tired with sink holes. The bathroom area had a constant smell of sewage. The location of the bathroom in our room was poor as anyone sitting at the bar/restaurant could see us on the toilet. There is no work space to use a laptop. The internet connection was one step away from dial up. Was unable to stream anything. The jetted tub on the balcony was ice cold. Not a hot tub experience. More of a cold plunge. The staff really tried to be helpful but they were younger and inexperienced with quality service. The food was enjoyable but there needed to be more non meat options. Menu was limiting as compared to other places. Rice pudding is delicious. The beach location is the absolute best. The day beds, lounge chairs and umbrellas made for a wonderful, relaxing time. But when you are paying over $400 a night you expect a better quality room/amenities and appropriate internet. Also they make you cash out on all room charges daily and if you don’t they call your room at 10:30 PM to go to the bar to make payment. I would not recommend this place despite its perfect location and good food as everything else fell extremely short.
Tom S — Google review
This was a great stay for our quick 2 day visit to Naxos - super quiet and right on the beach, and walkable to amazing nearby restaurants and bars. The beach cabanas were perfect, and the staff even takes your order from your beach chair. There is no reception or front desk per se, however Maria and the staff were more than accommodating during check-in/out and helped us with our bags and finding taxis into town (which we knew would be a challenge). Overall, we loved it and we only wish we had more time to stay here.
Jonathan P — Google review
An amazing location! Right on a pearfect beach with sunbeds and great service. The restaurant is a true jewel and the food is perfect. Rooms are great and have amazing view on the beach and the sunset. A perfect place to relax and enjoy.
Koukou K — Google review
The location is very good and the staff is friendly. It is located in a part of the beach that is not too croweded. They do have a nice breakfast so it is highly recommended. The rooms might need some minor improvements and probably it will be best to have a physical desk reception but in general they are fine and for sure a place to visit again.
Jarita C — Google review
We had a great time at Naxian on the Beach - we arranged pickup through the hotel and they made it a breeze as we were welcomed right off a busy ferry. We were greeted by staff immediately upon arrival and offered a welcome drink during the check in process. The room was clean and comfortable with a great view of the ocean. Having the sunbeds available to guests really sets this hotel apart from others as it makes it so easy to spend the day at the beach. If you ever are tired of the beach, they are more than willing to help arrange a tour of the island or a trip into the town to explore. We enjoyed breakfast every morning and it was always a great way to start off our day. The staff were always going above and beyond, we greatly enjoyed our staff.

Paradiso Taverna is a charming seaside restaurant with a relaxed atmosphere and stunning sea views. The beachside tables offer an outstanding view of the sunset, making it the perfect spot to enjoy a meal. The food is highly recommended, with standout dishes like beetroot salad and papoutsakia. It's advisable to book in advance and arrive before 19:30 to savor the sunset with local wine and live music.
This was one of the BEST Restaurant experiences I had in Greece. The food was DELICIOUS and plentiful and Zach the owner/waiter was super nice and fast with his service. The Greek breakfast was amazing with : eggs, yogurt, fruit, honey, ham, bread, veggies, olives, cakes, coffee and fresh orange juice. All for only 10 euros per person. The location was beautiful overlooking the water. I would say 5stars.

Fabulous authentic Greek taverna with an extensive menu. A great find. Wonderful location with on beach dining (if that is your thing), a traditional kitchen with warm dishes on display and a proper charcoal grill. Over 3 nights we ate: stuffed squid, moussaka, stuffed peppers, souvlaki, Naxos salad and drank the home produced wine and everything was delicious. Of course, nothing is rushed and not all the food comes at the same time or in the right order but this is a slice of real Greece and part of this restaurant’s charm. A complete gem!

The location is so beautiful and peaceful, just next to the beach, so amazing views. The calamari are so good! That we went twice! The great salad is delicious and massive. Great portions and great prizes! Loved everything!! So nice offering watermelon for dessert on the house. We tried the baklava too,and I can say that is was the best I tried so far. The staff was nice and the service very fast! Highly recommended!!

We chose this restaurant because of the amazing view and atmosphere of the tables on the beach. We rate the scenery 5/5. Other aspects, unfortunately, leave much to be desired. The wine in a carafe is not recommendable. The main courses came at a completely different time. I got mine only when my boyfriend had already finished his (on other tables the situation was similar). Calamari very rubbery, hard to eat. Local goat dish totally not worth recommending. Very little meat on the pieces. But the worst is how we felt after dinner.... very bloated and something is on the stomach. It is a pity, because the location and atmosphere (before the food came) is like from a movie!

We spent 5 days of our lunch and dinners here on our visit to Naxos in August 2024. We were extremely hyped again to come back this year. The waiters were extremely careless. We ordered fried zucchini, tzaziki, greek salad and chicken souvlaki. The fried zucchini was not fresh. Clearly it was left over from the night before and brought again on our table. We sent it back to have a fresh one. The attitude of the waiters were not kind and apologetic at all. You could find 3 full tomatoes at the bottom of the greek salad, simply not fully chopped. The tzaziki was served on a dirty plate. Had a plain taste. Not so good. The chicken souvlaki was as if it was a toy chicken brought to our table. The texture made us feel like we shouldnt be eating it. We were so so dissappointed. We would never come again. Such a sad thing to witness as it is so hard to become a good restaurant but so easy to change to be an experience that uncomforts you. We are so sorry to see this. We will not go back
Özge S — Google review
We went to the restaurant after our current host recommended it but we were kind of disappointed. Even though the food was very tasty, two things bothered us a lot. The lamb chops portion was very sad. There were THREE tiny lamb chops and a lot of fries for a dish that is definitely worth more attention and less money. And secondly, after our meal, we were offered some watermelon. And we were disgusted because some pieces were fridge-cold and some sitting-in-the-sun-for-15’ warm. I might be wrong but I assume that the pieces that other guests didn’t eat were brought to us… I really hope I’m wrong. I really enjoyed everything until the last 5 minutes…

Had dinner here. Location is great with a great view. Food is decent and very reasonably priced. But the service was only ok - we are trying to relax rather than feel in a rush and we felt like more of an imposition than valued.
Benjamin W — Google review
Beautiful location, shitty service, aweful “fishy” and chewy sea food plate (for totally overpriced 50 euros). We were not convinced by the “tourist trap” posts by some people, but we have to agree, will not come back. Might have been good at some point but with (guessed) around 60+ tables, quality definitely is not top of mind.

Yazoo Summer Bliss is a charming Greek restaurant located on the picturesque Plaka Beach, offering a delectable selection of fresh seafood and traditional grilled dishes. The restaurant boasts a diverse menu with options for vegetarians, vegans, and those with gluten-free diets. With its inviting outdoor spaces, it's an ideal spot for summer getaways. Guests praise the attentive staff and delightful ambiance, making it a must-visit destination for those seeking delicious cuisine in a beautiful beach setting.
What an incredibly delicious dinner we had!! I noticed this place because of some pictures of seafood but we chose it because it offers the unique opportunity to dine with the feet on the sand. The restaurant is very large and it has many options. We chose the most romantic one which allowed us to stay quiet but inside there was a very large table of students who were celebrating, probably a birthday. The staff was super professional and friendly at the same time. The appetisers we had we both delicious. They both had the same sauce that was just unbelievable. If possible, the squids were tastier than the octopus. As a main we then decided to order a big fish. They brought us a tray of fabulously looking fish from which we could choose exactly which one the chef would have then cooked for us. It came back cooked to perfection. Wine was also exceptionally good. I would say the best dinner we had in Naxos in 1 week we spent there.

First of all, it is located by the beach so there is a nice breeze. They have indoor and outdoor seating and it’s very comfy and cozy. The food was very nice. Was a little disappointed with the price for moderate portions. But otherwise the staff was very respectful and the food came very fast. Would definitely recommend this place if price is not a problem.

Came to enjoy the sun-beds & beach for the day and I really enjoyed myself. The beds are clean and far enough apart that you’re not on top of fellow patrons. Matthew was the beach attendant the day I went and he did an excellent job - items I ordered, both food & drinks, came out quickly and he was very attentive. I had several Pink Fizz cocktails - they were delicious. Great quality and decent pricing!

We came here 4/4 days we spent in Naxos! The atmosphere is picturesque and you can’t really beat it. The food was amazing, the first day we had slow cooked lamb and it had us hooked and trying the rest of the menu. The staff was accommodating and very pleasant. Overall a must visit if you’re in Naxos. (The cats are so sweet and sleep 99% of the time you’re there)

Had an amazing day and evening here. This place will make you fall in love with Naxos. The sunbeds were chic and comfortable. Sat in the first row. The staff was very attentive and friendly and the food and drinks were SO good. Amazing Aperol spritz. My husband loved the Mai Tai. We enjoyed the grilled chicken (so juicy and great char) and Naxos fries (great portion for sharing) at the beach. I was surprised at how nice the presentation was for the food. Great views on the beach plus great outdoor seating and an indoor area where it’s easy to work. Cute boutique and market in the back. Easy to get comfortable. Not crowded like cedar cafe. 100/10 recommend!!! We will be back.
Caroline D — Google review
Unfortunately I can't say anything about the food, because we only had drinks at the beach, but those were really good! It sounds totally fair to me that you need to spend 45€ to enjoy the sunbeds all day. The service was really good bei Matheus and made the days even more enjoyable. Would highly recommend!

What an amazing meal we had a Yazoo, our friends from Switzerland recommended this place and it did not disappoint. Apart from the amazing setting that the Plaka beach offers, Yazoo served what can only be described as the best piece of pork I have ever had in my life (and I eat a lot of it!). Come hungry because the Tomahawk pork steak will fill up two average size eaters. Do not over cool it please, it’s worth a tinge of pink to keep the succulence of the meat. There are honourable mentions for the Watermelon Salad and the Seared Tuna Steak which were full of delightful flavours. Thank you again Yazoo, we then spent the afternoon sleeping it off on their complimentary sun loungers on the beach. What a day that was, the best of our 10 days so far on the Greek Islands.

Naxos Port is located on the northwest side of Naxos Town, close to the path leading to Apollo Temple and featuring a charming marina to the south. The bustling port area offers a variety of casual tavernas, cocktail bars, souvenir shops, and boutiques. Modern high-speed Catamaran ferries. Comfortable seats indoor, amenities, air conditioning (sometimes too strong, depending on your seat location). The waiting in the mid of summer is quite uncomfortable, the gate building itself is even less breathable (Naxos). Your are asked to leave your (big) luggage unattended in the cargo/car area - you have to trust that you will find it back. The Santorini-Heraklion trip was a bit windy and the sea became wavy: that kind of ship is quite sensitive to waves and started jumping up and down. The passenger area became a puking warzone - my admiration goes to the staff that maintained some order and kept smiling.

Apollonas Kouros is an incomplete 10-meter-high marble statue located near the village of Apollonas. This kouros, a representation of a man, dates back to the 7th and 6th centuries BC and offers a fascinating glimpse into ancient sculpture. The unfinished state of the statue allows visitors to see its raw form with cuboids for arms and un-carved body planes.
Easy to get to. There is a small pull off area where we parked and then we followed the trail. You also get a nice view. Easy, interesting quick stop. Plus, it’s free!

Quite the drive up from Naxos town (about an hour one way) to see this cool abandoned statue. Amazing scenic drive along the sea side and fun windy roads going up and down hill. Short 1 minute walk up some stairs to see the statue with a great view of the coastal village as well.

Probably worth 5 minutes if you’re passing. It’s a pretty impressive size. No tickets needed, it’s literally 50m up a path by the roadside.

We rented a quad in Chora and road them all round the island. Really cool traveling over the mountains with the clouds drifting by us then down to Kouros of Apollan. I love history and you wonder how they did when they did. You can see how they chiseled this piece out by the chisel marks left on the mountain from where it was chiseled from. Amazing. Recommend to anyone going that way even if your not into it. Don't need to buy tickets just short walk 50-75 meters from where you park. We were there Sept 26, 2025

An awkward stone structure that wasn't straightened up to stand or it was designed to just lay there.... the foot is already as big as the height of an adult, so it must be utterly heavy. I had a great time at Tohu beach bar. They offer a variety of beds and beanbags in both sunny and shaded areas, with enough flexibility to move them around as desired. The beds are complimentary as long as you spend 10 per person on food and drinks. The staff is attentive, friendly, and not intrusive. They bring the drinks and food directly to you. The menu offers Greek-inspired dishes that are all delicious.
Beautiful beach and restaurant on Plaka. In June 2024, for two sunbeds and an umbrella in the last row, you had to pay 30 euros and spend 30 more. First of all, the sea is beautiful at this place and the sand is soft. The beach is not crowded at all and we liked it very much. There are only 3-4 rows of sunbeds and they have quite a lot of space apart. Sunbeds were very comfortable, there are also lazybags. Some umbrellas had holes thought. The staff was very kind and attentive every time we went there. We ate at their restaurant just behind the beach. The food was tasty and prepared fast. We liked everything. The restaurant has an excellent restroom and a shower which we didn’t use since there was one on the beach. There is plenty of parking around.

Our waiter Eugene and his colleagues were so attentive, made excellent recommendations, and even delighted us with some post dinner digestifs. We loved every part of this meal and would happily return for more!

The display menu outside - while walking in the morning - enticed us to try this for dinner. What a great decision. We arrived early and without a reservation but still managed to get a table at the front, with excellent views of the stunning sunset. We were served by Eugene, who talked us through the menu and took us to check out the fresh fish of the day which all looked very good. So good, one of us had the dorada (similar to sea bass); simply barbecue grilled, it was extremely good €36. Prior to that we shared the Aubergine (eggplant) puree with lovely pitta, which was divine €8. My partner had the Shrimps Saganaki €17 which were tasty and soft. The wine list is short but we'll priced. We had a good Terra Nera Assirtiko (from Santorini) which lived up to expectations. All in all a good evening in a delightful setting. Total bill was €130 excluding tip.

Tohu Beach is such a vibrant and refreshing spot! The vibe is amazing—laid-back yet lively, with great music and a stylish setting that makes you want to stay all day. I have came here daily during my stay in Naxos. The crowd is fun and friendly, adding to the overall atmosphere and making it feel welcoming and social. A special thanks to Dimitri for the wonderful hospitality—his attention and energy truly elevated the experience. Definitely a place I’d come back to next summer

Highly recommend to enjoy food at their restaurant and then enjoy the day bed for the best experience! We traveled to Plaka to enjoy the beach. We decided let’s grab food when we get closer to Plaka since we stayed closer to the ferry port. So we decided to come for brunch. We had the pancakes with bacon, the omelette, Two cappuccinos with almond milk. After, we realized the day beds right across were connected to the restaurant so we inquired about the fee. They said $50 a day but our bill was already ~$35. So it was perfect a drink on the beach after breakfast was the way to go 😭 we secured the day beds got two piña colada’s and stayed for a few hours. The servers were great. While swimming our drink fell over. The servers cleaned it up while we were in the water, let us know when we came back and then replaced our drink while we were sunbathing free of charge. ✨

Churches & Cathedrals
The Holy Paleochristian Church of Panagia Drosiani, dating back to the 6th century A.D., is a significant historical site in Naxos. This ancient stone church boasts a cross-shaped layout with a large dome adorned with depictions of Jesus Christ Pantokrator and original frescoes of the Virgin Mary and St. George. Dedicated to the Virgin Mary of the rain, it is said that she answered locals' prayers during a drought.
A monument of great importance! With rich heritage this time defying Church is the oldest in Europe (based on the words from a local woman we found there) A must visit for everyone, you can find locals there with their small shops to buy locally made goods as well.
Apostolis M — Google review
We travelled a long way to visit this important monument and, specifically, to see the interior of the church. It was 24th October and one of us was celebrating the 14th anniversary of his baptism into the Orthodox Church. We were assured by all online information as well as our hotel staff and local drivers and car hire rep that the Church would certainly be open from 11 am till mid afternoon. The Church was firmly closed and the sweet and helpful elderly lady selling hand-woven fabric told us that the woman responsible for the keys had decided a few days ago that it wasn’t worth her while to be there as the tourist season had ended. She even called the key-keeper’s family on the mobile to be told that the woman would not be coming down from the nearby village. In the short period we were there to walk around this unusual and beautiful ancient church, there were at least 20 tourists who had made the journey like we had and were as disappointed. We have been coming to Greece for almost 40 years and are used to the rather cavalier attitude to opening times of the sites. We hoped that in this case greater consideration would be paid to visitors who have travelled a long way to a place of such national, international and religious importance. However, we are aware of how vulnerable open churches are to theft and vandalism. My Orthodox partner also raised the question of the vibrancy of Orthodox life when churches are only opened for the height of the tourist season. Food for thought.

Maragkas Beach is a stunning destination on Naxos that offers visitors a perfect blend of relaxation and convenience. With its soft sandy shores and crystal-clear waters, it's an ideal spot for sunbathing or taking a refreshing dip. The beach is easily accessible via public transport, with buses running every 30 minutes from Naxos city, making the journey quick and affordable.
Went there two days. Got some sunbeds near the supermarket, which has everything you might need. The beds with umbrella were 30 euro but we bought an nice umbrella in the market for 30 euro and used that everyday we were there, lowering th sunbed.cost to 10 Euro for 2. Convenient to have own umbrella to go to the quieter part of all the beaches. The sand is soft, water warm and clear but that sun will burn you quick…. Nice beach and would probably go again if there weren’t 40 other nice beaches on Naxos.

A very nice white beads which has Crystal clear blue waters and you can also find a few sunbeds here and there. I think however, that its biggest attraction is the fact that due to its size your eye is getting lost within the blue which to me, was very relaxing!

Brilliant beach near Naxos Town. Bars, restaurants, hotels and shops. Nice sand, safe bathing in sea, ideal for family’s. Great sunsets. 10 minute walk into to town with plenty of bars/ restaurants/ shops etc… also short walk to square again with plenty of places to eat and drink

This was our favourite beach on Naxos! The sand is perfect for kids to play in, and there is a gentle sandy slope into the water. We went at the end of July and it was busy, but not as crowded as agios prokopios (which we didn't enjoy as much). The sunset is also amazing to watch from this beach! I would not recommend the deck chairs and sunbrellas - as of July 2025 they are priced at an extortionate €45!

This beach near Naxos center is a popular spot, especially in the afternoon. It offers a good balance between lively beach bars and quieter free areas, so you can choose the setting that suits you best. The water is clear, and the soft sand makes it a pleasant place to relax. Whether you’re in the mood for the amenities of a beach bar or prefer a more natural setting, this beach has something to offer. It’s a convenient and enjoyable option for both locals and visitors.

This is a fantastic beach! Extremely convenient from the Naxos town (a few minutes by foot) and good sand quality, with lots of space for umbrellas in between the beach bars. The beach is very family- and couple- friendly (shallow waters, calmer waves even on windy days). We tried all beaches on the west coast of Naxos and ended up going to this beach over and over since it became our favorite. Just one suggestion: a small part of the beach has more seaweeds in the water. Make sure to walk a bit along the beach to find a nice spot without seaweed, and the water will be crystal clear.
Luis — Google review
If you can, book a hotel near this beach. The water is shallow and you have to go out about 60 metres before it becomes a metre deep and is therefore great for kids. The Northern part of the beach nearest chora is only 10 minutes from the centre 9f town. The beach I backed by numerous small hotels, cafes restaurants and bars but without the craziness you might expect from the busier neighbouring islands. Sun beds are 15 euro day to rent but plenty of space to just put down your towels in the sand especially the further south you go. The bay is a double horseshoe and is quite sheltered from wind from most directions. The sand is quite compacted on the foreshore so a great place to go for a run at dusk but there is a bit of seagrass which washes up so need to avoid this. Nice atmosphere but not too busy or crazy.
