Pub
Beer garden
Double Locks is a popular 18th-century inn located by the canal locks, offering outdoor seating and cozy snug rooms with log fires. Situated about 20 minutes down the river from Exeter's city center, it provides a quaint setting to enjoy local beers and ciders while taking in waterside views. The pub offers a friendly atmosphere and is pet-friendly, making it an ideal spot for both you and your pooch.
Delicious Sunday lunch with friends at this gorgeous, picturesque pub by the canal. Daniella served us and is very friendly and cheerful. Great service! Thank you
Judy G — Google review
The location and setting is amazing, especially outdoors in the summer. There is a good selection of beers, ales, and cider. I’m not a fan of the plastic serving cups though I understand why they have to do it on very busy days. They also ran out of tea and I had bring tea pots back to be able to order one. Again, not the end of the world but the service experience wasn’t brilliant overall. Only tried the scotch egg but it was lovely!
Graham N — Google review
We walked down the canal on a rather wet and windy Sunday. We saw kingfishers, swans and a heron. We had a roastwhich I would highly recommend. A good amount of beef, the tastiest potatoes and plenty of veg. We also finally tried the scotch eggs! They were divine! An amazingly relaxing and restful Sunday .

Had a nice oat milk Latte at Double Locks. Great views. Nice and friendly service. Quite a bit of litter around the pub and in the garden though. Big car park. Think they're having a big burn for November 5th judging by the pallet mountain in the garden!
Chris P — Google review
This was a brilliant Sunday out. The staff were so accommodating and helpful Daniella our waitress especially. The food was outstanding and the pub is lovely. Thanks
Alex N — Google review
Busy pub in a cute location Went for Sunday roast and the pork did not disappoint. Definitely need to make a reservation on Sunday
Eric K — Google review
Visited here for drinks after walking past this place on a visit to the area a couple of years ago. Was not disappointed. Friendly lady behind the bar who served our drinks and the price was reasonable in my opinion based on the location. Inside was cosy and there was a lot of choice on outdoor seating. Beer was great and the views around of the surrounding countryside and river added to the satisfaction of walking here from central Exeter. If I come to this area again, I will definitely call in here again. One final point is that I didn't have food here this time, but might do on a repeat visit.

Fish and seafood restaurant
Seafood restaurant
Rockfish is a collection of nine coastal eateries located in Brixham, Devon, with additional properties in Salcombe, Sidmouth, and Topsham. Founded by seafood expert Mitch Tonks in 2010, Rockfish offers freshly caught fish served the same day for guaranteed freshness and quality. The brand recently launched Rockfish Seafood at Home, providing customers direct access to the 24-hour fish market in Brixham for online purchases delivered within 24 hours.
Food was really good . My dad and partner really enjoyed their calamari and smoked haddock. I had the ray wing which was cooked perfectly but was just not my thing ( I had never tried before) . The staff were excellent and the atmosphere was really pleasant. Liked their calamari fact there were lots of well behaved dog allowed.
Sean H — Google review
Great restaurant for fish - best we know in the UK at fairly "reasonable" price. Clear recommendation. Had the catch of the day, the "Sole". It was the best sole I had since years, just absolutely fantastic. Only slight downside: Service was very friendly but slow. Even when we mentioned to be under a little time pressure, it did not help to speed up. So bring some time, but it's worth it.
W F — Google review
Lovely food. Good service. It isn’t cheap but I didn’t find it gratuitously expensive considering the quality and freshness. Lovely relaxed dining experience too, good friendly atmosphere. I would highly recommend this place but also recommend that you book! Went on a weekday lunchtime outside of school holidays and it was busy
Han C — Google review
We had a fantastic meal at Rockfish in Dartmouth! I ordered the fish and chips, which came with unlimited chips, a brilliant touch. The fish was fresh and perfectly cooked, with a light, crispy batter. My whole family enjoyed their meals, and there was something for everyone on the menu. The service was another highlight. friendly and super cheerful throughout our visit. It made the whole dining experience feel even more welcoming and enjoyable.
Luke N — Google review
Great little place serving delicious food with friendly staff. Decent kids menu and a lovely location right on the riverfront. We just wanted normal fish and chips so this cost quite a bit more, but worth every penny.
Mike H — Google review
We had a fantastic experience at Rockfish in Dartmouth. Joanie was our waitress and she was incredible, very knowledgeable about the dishes and catches of the day, she made our experience so memorable with her humour and attentiveness. We would highly recommend this restaurant to all our friends… We had oysters and prawns to start, and lobster and prawn tacos for mains - all absolutely delicious. Thank you again!
Hannah S — Google review
We really enjoyed our lunch here. They serve excellent and fresh fish cooked simply. If you are expecting lots of complex sauces and combinations this isn’t that, but great and fresh produce cooked simply to let the flavours shine. Dover sole cooked in butter, shell on prawns, spider crab croquettes, cockles and hake all really tasty. It’s all about tasting the fresh fish. Not cheap but you understand that sourcing fish this fresh isn’t cheap. Very child friendly. My daughter loved the prawns and sole.
Dominic B — Google review
We had a fantastic meal here. From the service to the food, everything was great. The table had lemon sole fillets, monkfish tail, ray wing and the cuttle fish and each one was enjoyed. Can thoroughly recommend the ray wing. Thank you!

Located at 9 The Quay in Appledore, England, The Boathouse is a hidden gem with a stunning secret garden and traditional welcoming cafe. It offers a choice of rustic-luxe interiors and an alfresco top deck with fairy lights and views over the Torridge Estuary. This beach bar and restaurant is known for its great food, inviting guests to linger longer over drinks and enjoy the picturesque surroundings.
Booked a table for my birthday after being recommended by the Airbnb host. What a great recommendation it was. I had the burger which was perfectly cooked and my partner had the haddock and chips which he said was amazing. We don’t normally have desserts (I’m fat enough haha and my partner is diabetic) however was too good not to. Thank you especially to Jenko and Georgia for excellent service as was everyone else.
Daniel P — Google review
We came for the roast which was nice and you get a good plate full of food but would have been nice to have some fresh vegetables. The yorkshires were a good size but heavy in texture so none of our group finished which is unusual, the gravy could have been warmer but the roast potatoes were nice and crispy. The service was attentive and a great view across the estuary.
Colin S — Google review
We visited The Boathouse on the day after our wedding and WOW it was amazing the food was perfectly cooked and worth every penny. The staff were lovely to us too! The altlantic prawns starter was yummy and my husbands burger was best hes had in a long time! I would recommend this restaurant.
Kirsty G — Google review
The view, service and dining experience were all exceptional. Having travelled extensively and fished for our supper many times over (and had our catch freshly prepared by 5 star kitchens), we found the brill - which was a special - to be the best whole fish we’ve ever eaten… a masterclass in the perfectly seasoned and cooked fish. The sunset views were glorious; do book a table overlooking the water and you must book in advance to avoid disappointment. I should add that our two spaniels were well looked after!
Jennika I — Google review
I had to make a change to the booking and team couldn't have been more helpful sorting it out. The food was really good. We ordered from the main menu and the daily specials board. The team were really good, helpful suggestions and great service. We will be back again.
Tim R — Google review
Having visited the Boathouse several times over the last few years, my husband and I were looking forward to enjoying yet another great meal. However, for some reason someone decided to change the menu, taking off everything we’ve enjoyed over the years. Bearing in mind it’s a fish restaurant, and my husband is a qualified fishmonger, imagine his disappointment when he ordered a burger, as there wasn’t much of a choice! Also, the ‘local’ fish supplied was from either Brixham, or Lyme Bay. There’s a reputable fish supplier a few hundred yards away in Appledore! Sadly, unless the menu improves, we won’t be coming back.
Debbs S — Google review
What a gorgeous meal! We visited as a family of 4 and were sat by the front window table so were able to enjoy the beautiful sunset. The food was delicious. We all opted for seafood options (whitebait, cured sea trout, crab thermidor, mussels) and everything was wonderful. Our waitress was lovely too. Overall, a lovely meal to end a fabulous week away in beautiful Devon.

The Red Barn is a family-friendly surfer bar and grill that offers comfort food and real ales, along with live music on Fridays. Despite its Australian-style surf shack beach bar vibe, it's a great spot for dog owners to enjoy drinks while soaking in the atmosphere of one of Britain's best surf spots. Located in the center of Woolacombe Bay, it serves as an excellent starting or finishing point for a scenic cliff-top trek out to Morte Point.
What an absolute delight! We visited this area last year and didn’t even notice this place in its old guise. What they’ve done with the place is exactly what was needed, we’ve been to a few of their pubs now and really rate them! Today, we already had dinner booked somewhere else for this evening however decided to stop by for a drink…. Then ordered nibbles, you know… to keep us going! Very, very tasty meatballs. A cracking place to meet with friends or just as a couple. A great vibe, next to a great beach! A big car park opposite and there’s a route in for wheelchair users or those not able to do steps. Toilets clean and in full working order. It was very busy but then it was a bank holiday Monday with moody weather, so maybe an idea to book if coming for food.
Gareth T — Google review
We had a 40 minute wait for food here on a busy and sunny evening. We decided to wait and enjoy the views whilst overlooking the sea and enjoying a refreshing drink. The food was well worth the wait, everything was well cooked, well presented and above all very tasty. I would recommend the Mac and cheese, I did add bacon, and my son devoured his beef burger and fries. The portion sizes were good and we all left feeling full after an energetic day of body boarding! The outdoor area was a hive of activity with plenty of people (and their pets) enjoying the sunny evening but the outdoor area didn't feel cramped or overly noisy.
Gareth J — Google review
Ate here in October 2025 and what a difference since the Hall & Woodhouse refurbishment from the Red Barn. It is now finally clean, welcoming and pleasant. Not the cheapest meal ever but good quality comfort pub food in nice cosy seating areas. Dog friendly area. You can order at the bar or using a QR code on each table. Very easy and recommended.
Pete L — Google review
The Barn in Woolacombe has a fantastic location right next to the wide sandy beach—perfect for a relaxing meal with a view. The food was fresh and full of flavour; we had fish and chips, prawn cocktail, and finished with a delicious cinnamon cheesecake and coffee. The service was excellent—attentive, friendly, and professional. A great spot for both the food and the atmosphere!
Martyna R — Google review
Such an amazing place! We came to Woolacombe for the beach and saw this place on the front, so popped in for drinks, but ended up coming back later in the day for our lunch! The decor is stunning and the food absolutely amazing! Will definitely return next time we visit North Devon ❤️
Hannah — Google review
Definitely recommend this place. For starters the interior and atmosphere is everything you want when on holiday in Woolacombe. We normally don’t like going to the same place multiple times but we loved it so much here. To start with we got the calamari, which is arguably the tastiest calamari we have ever had. For mains we got the chilli and the H&W burger and we have no complaints for either. The chilli was clearly homemade, the rice was fluffy and the tortilla chips were a nice addition - guacamole and sour cream were also fresh and tasty. The H&W burger was top tier, all ingredients were fresh and the meat was absolutely delicious, fries were top dollar also. This was the best place we ate at our whole trip and also the cheapest!!
Lily C — Google review
On the hottest day if the year so far so lovely to get a table for al fresco dining with spectacular views of Woolacombe beach. Staff were extremely busy but still had a friendly smile. Great food and service , highly recommend.
Michelle B — Google review
Still a great place to chill after the beach! We had a little initial apprehension before our first visit after the renovation but we're incredibly pleased. The fresh new look still holds that surfer chill vibe but with a new up to date feel. The staff were excellent throughout being friendly and attentive even through the bust rush periods. The food was good and came in excellent time regardless of the business. Overall still a great place to grab some food and drinks after the beach and people watch for awhile, we will be back 😍

Nestled at the mouth of Kingsbridge Harbour, The Crabshell Inn is a charming waterside pub and restaurant offering a diverse menu featuring local seafood and global favorites. With its sun terrace overlooking the estuary, it provides a perfect setting to savor the ebb and flow of the water while enjoying delectable dishes. This picturesque quayside spot is popular among locals for its fantastic seafood, pizzas, and coffees.
Lovely family meal at the crabshell Inn. We had an amazing seat for 7 of us (+ baby), inside but with the patio doors open looking out onto the water with the sun on us. The food was great, massive portions, everything really hot & flavoursome. Great vegan options as well as the fresh fish options. Service was attentive also. Really recommend! ✨️
Georgina B — Google review
Great pub fayre in a stunning setting on the Kingsbridge Estuary. The service was great, although it would have been nice to have been offered a bowl of water for our dog, and there was a busy buzz which provided a vibrant atmosphere on a warm summer's night. The crabby fries come highly recommended, as does the curry sauce, which compliments the substantial portion of fish and chips. Well worth a visit if you are in the Kingsbridge area and are looking for great, pub food set against a beautiful backdrop; enjoy!
Terence A — Google review
Warm welcome with a smile and humour. Food arrived promptly. Pizzas were average, however the seafood sharing platter with fries was very good 👍. As were the fish and chips. Good portion sizes.
Mandy J — Google review
We had a really lovely time at the Crabshell Inn on August Bank Holiday Sunday. We arrived late afternoon/early evening and got a table outside along the river, which we shared with another group. The family next to us were kind enough to let my little girl join in with their crabbing, which made her day. Drinks were great – white wine, Kronenbourg lager, and an apple juice for my daughter – all served relatively quickly for a busy bank holiday and by friendly bar staff. We also ordered a pizza and asked for no oregano for my daughter (“no green bits”) – it came exactly as requested and was very tasty. Overall, we had a fantastic experience and I would highly recommend visiting the Crabshell Inn.
Joanna H — Google review
Great location and great food; plenty of outdoor seating and a lovely view over the tidal inlet. We didn't boom a table but they were able to accommodate us with no issue (but I would probably recommend that you do book in advance!). The car park was full (6:30pm) but there was parking available along the road nearby. 4 stars only because it took a long time for the food to arrive.. But they did have some board games so we played scrabble while we waited! The salt and pepper squid and scallops were delicious as a starter (shared between 4). The seafood platter was enormous and could probably have been enough for 3 people... All the variety was excellent and thoroughly enjoyed. Perhaps a little too much lobster butter on the fries as the bottom layer were somewhat soggy! The regular fish and chips was fantastic - lovely moist fish in a crisp batter and chunky chips and crushed peas (not blended mushy rubbish!). The tartar sauce was the best my daughter has had!! The West Country burger was delicious and filling. All in all we had a delicious and enjoyable family meal.

We had a fantastic experience at the Crabshell. Although our table wasn’t ready when we arrived, the staff were incredibly accommodating and offered us drinks at an outside table with a beautiful view of the estuary — a lovely way to start the evening. The food was absolutely good ever and nicely presented. The service throughout from Rosie was warm, attentive, and genuine. A great meal paired with excellent service in a stunning setting — we’ll definitely be back!

Babbacombe Theatre, located on the picturesque Babbacombe Downs, has been a prominent part of Torquay's entertainment scene since the 1930s. This historic venue hosts a variety of performances including musical tributes, comedy acts, and rising talent showcases. It is particularly renowned for its annual Christmas show and seasonal variety shows that receive rave reviews from visitors. Operated by the Torbay Civic Society, this community theatre also welcomes top touring shows throughout the year.
We went to see Clinton Baptiste (The medium clairvoyant and renowned psychic) here in February. The theatre is in a stunning setting which is a great start. Close to several pubs and restaurants for pre-show food and drinks. The building itself is fabulous. The art deco inspired building is well maintained and retains many original features and signage from its early days. The bar facilities are OK but were definitely not designed with modern customers in mind. Overall the experience was amazing, with the ambiance of the theatre adding to this. The venue is small and gives an intimate feel to a show. We would definitely travel back down to see another show.
Dave G — Google review
Surprisingly comfortable, cosy traditional local theatre, with a good size stage. Our view of the stage was unimpeded, and sound quality was very good. Facilities here are a bit lacking, with too few loos, which were very grubby, and the bar is in what looks suspiciously like a converted broom cupboard. However, a member of staff did say that they were very much looking forward to a forthcoming refurbishment, so hopefully this shouldn't be an ongoing issue. Most of the staff were lovely, helpful and friendly. There is a very pleasant cliff walk with a view across the bay, and plethora of very nice cafes and bars in which to spend time while waiting for the doors to open. Street parking is limited. We used the Princess Road carpark, which at £10.50 was a tad steep. The theatre does not have a front of house annex, bar or toilets for early arrivals. Public facilities are nearby however. These are contactless pay access only. A good evening out.

The Cott Inn is a charming 14th-century thatched pub located in the serene village of Dartington, surrounded by picturesque countryside. This family-owned establishment offers country-chic rooms and an upscale restaurant serving award-winning food, local ales, and ciders. With its roots dating back to 1320 AD, it is one of the oldest inns in Britain and boasts the longest thatched roof in England.
Come past this amazing building today and went in for a drink. Very friendly place and you can tell this place is well managed , I love the set up and the indoors and outdoors is very comfy with lots of parking. I'll be back for food though 100% the prices are very good and the place has a feeling of a 5 star restaurant inside.
Andrew Y — Google review
Had dinner here for the first time last night due to a recommendation and I have mixed but mostly positive feelings! Upon arriving, not only was the car park full but the cars parked in it were parked so terribly that I couldn’t go through to the other side, I had to reverse back out and park outside on the road (can’t be helped!) Then we came in and meandered down to a cozy little room at the back which was very nice. The general vibe from the staff was very friendly, everyone was communicating with each other kindly and amicably, and we were served by a girl with long red braids who was very accommodating and friendly! The food, and I mean this sincerely, was to DIE FOR. Absolutely exceptional presentation, all served on stylish plates with a keen eye to detail, generous portions and a spread that satiates every desire for flavour! The pricing was very nice and competitive for the quality of food! The only small drawbacks were the main course was served without cutlery which we had to ask for and a table that wobbled until I stuffed a menu underneath the leg which is the only area where the Cott Inn lost points, and I sincerely mean that this review is actually 4.95 stars (if Google allowed) because these and the parking were the only drawbacks as they are only very very small attentions to detail that I would feedback! Our food was delivered in a timely manner and the friendliness of the staff was all very satisfactory, I would just advise not to rest on the laurels of exceptional food quality to miss out on very minor attention to detail that would have made this experience 10/10! We will return with hopeful expectations as the general experience was very good and hopefully sling a 5 stars result your way! It’s rare we, like anyone, can afford the time to go out for dinner these days and our experience was generally very good! And I can’t wait to try more options from the menu again! :-) Keep up the good work everyone!
Kurtis C — Google review
I hadn't been to the Cott for quite a while, it's always had a great reputation. I went for lunch with friends yesterday and we weren't disappointed. Everything on the menu sounded delicious, we all had the seafood salad which was so delicious I'll have to go back again to have it again soon. It comes with skinny fries and a slice of sourdough, beautifully presented.

Pub
Beer garden
The Grove in Exmouth is a traditional seaside pub with a focus on real ales, delicious homemade bar snacks, and daily specials. With its large beer garden and sea-view terrace, it's the perfect spot for those looking to enjoy a pint after a swim in the nearby beach. The pub also offers superb Sunday lunches and friendly staff who are always ready to assist you in finding a table.
We visited The Grove for a Sunday roast while on holiday in Exmouth and ordered two roast beef platters and two kids meals. The platters did not disappoint! The beef was delicious and tender and all of the trimmings were really tasty too, especially the cauliflower cheese and ox cheek Mac and cheese. Highly recommend!

Lovely pub in nice part of Exmouth. Over the road from the beach. We had curried parsnip soup which was too spiced with curry unfortunately but was OK if u liked it hot/spicy. Then toad in the hole which was a large Yorkshire pudding with three large sausages, swede, carrots, red onion and kale put in the Yorkshire pudding. It was very filling and sausages etc tasted good. No room for pudding. Bit on pricey side. We paid over 70 for 2 with a bottle of pinot but lovely location in the summer I shld imagine.

Lovely place for a drink. Nice atmosphere, welcoming vibes, good staff, quick service. Reasonable choice of ales. Btw no booking required so just pop in. Surely be back when in area again.

We stayed in Exmouth recently and ate here twice but came back for drinks and a couple of games of cards every evening! The food was wonderful but the staff were even better! We were looked after by Sophy, Katie, Eleanor and James across the three visits and were hugely impressed by them all - they were friendly and welcoming and remembered us even after our first visit! Would definitely recommend a visit here if you’re in the area - particularly on a Sunday for a roast dinner!! 👌🏻 best roast I’ve had for a long time!

Booked tonight and welcomed by lovely staff. Looked through the menu and made two choices of mains. The food arrived and definitely didn't dissapoint. The pie as delicious and full of flavour. My wife had sausage with bubble and squeak this was amazing followed by a very ample portion of crumble. The service was brilliant and a great atmosphere. My best experience so far in Exmouth. Thank you all and see you soon.😋👍

Sat upstairs for the view. Sunday roast good, quick service, staff cheerful, nice to see families enjoying a meal out. Liked the pictures on the wall (natural history). Large portions, the Yorkshire was a pudding to far for me.

The Ferry Inn, a beloved establishment in Salcombe since 1739, is the perfect spot for gathering with loved ones. Its famous waterside terrace offers a picturesque view of passing yachts and the ferry to East Portlmouth. Locals and tourists alike praise it as one of the most beautifully situated pubs globally. With its prime waterfront location near the ferry jetty, The Ferry Inn provides breathtaking views over the estuary.
Excellent service and great views across the harbour. Good selection of quality drinks, including real ales. We didn't get food here as it was a planned stop on our pub crawl in Salcombe. A nice little touch was the mini pub games they leave out on the tables at the top bar. There are picnic tables at the outside lower area with its own bar at that level.

What a wonderful place to enjoy an evening meal. Great staff a fantastic atmosphere and great food. Only downside is the price of alcohol here but the view is amazing
Paul D — Google review
Had a good drink but then when it came time for dinner we ordered a fish and chips and a beef burger. Which then took 40 minutes to be served and after the wait the burger was overdone however the fish and chips were good. Been for drinks many times before and it’s always good but got let down big time by the burger.

What a location! Great terrace overlooking the harbour, and a cosy bar above when the weather is not so good.

There were 17 of us and we had the Sunday pork Porcetta and Seafood basket for dinner. The pork was so tender and everything was so fresh and delicious. The service was also so friendly and fantastic. It was faultless

I recently visited The Ferry Inn while on a trip to Salcombe, and I have to say, the view from the garden is absolutely fantastic. On a sunny day, it’s the perfect spot to sit back with a drink and take in the scenery — a real highlight of the visit. Unfortunately, the food didn’t quite live up to the setting. I ordered a steak cooked rare, and while I enjoy a rare steak, this one was underdone to the point of being almost raw. Service was also underwhelming; it took around 40 minutes for our food to arrive, which felt excessive considering how quiet it was at the time. All in all, I’d definitely return for a drink and to enjoy the atmosphere, but I’d probably skip the food next time.

Lovely pub, very popular so may struggle to grab a table. Watch out for the sea gulls circling, staff are good at dispersing them.
Pappsy7 — Google review
Visited a couple of times in the week. A pint around lunchtime, with a couple of portions of chips, and sat outside overlooking the estuary and later in the week an evening meal. The staff are always friendly and helpful. The food is good old, no fuss pub grub. Good selection of beers, cider and spirits, oh and soft drinks! It's not flash, but it great and we would highly recommend it.

A hidden gem! Our 3rd visit to this lovely pub tucked away off the busy main area. Nice outside seating area where we sat with our 2 dogs. Bowls of water provided, perfect after a long beach walk and thirsty pups. The food on previous visits was very good and this time it was the same. Ordered 2 ultimate burgers and wow such good value for money. The quality of the beef was exceptional. I had to ask for a takeout box as it was so big I couldn’t finish it all. Worth a try if you’re in the area. We already can’t wait to return.

Tucked away just off the main strip, The Jube is a bit of a hidden gem in Woolacombe. We went on a Friday night, so it was understandably busy, and we had to wait a little while for a table, but it was totally worth it. The vibe is spot on. Relaxed, friendly, and perfect whether you’re just grabbing a quiet drink or catching up over food with friends. Our waiter was brilliant really attentive despite how packed it was. The food took a little time to come out as they work from a small kitchen, but honestly, when it arrived, we got it. Everything was so fresh and the portions were huge. Properly off-the-charts good. You can tell they care about quality. If you’re in the area, don’t miss this spot. It’s the kind of place that feels laid-back but still delivers in a big way.
Navi A — Google review
A Regrettably Disappointing Visit – Be Warned I feel it's important to share our experience to hopefully prevent others from encountering the same frustration. Our recent visit was, regrettably, very disappointing. First and foremost, the wait times were outrageous. We were initially told a 50-minute wait for a table of two, with no option to book in advance. After nearly an hour of waiting, we were told our table would be ready "soon." However, once we were finally able to order, we faced an additional 1 hour and 15 minute wait for our food to arrive. The atmosphere was equally problematic. If you're hoping to eat outside, be prepared for a constant stream of chain-smokers. Inside, the noise level was akin to a nightclub, with blaring music and shouting making it incredibly difficult to hold a conversation, even with those at our own table. The bar staff also seemed overwhelmed and barely acknowledged customers. It was evident that the staff are overworked and severely mismanaged. They appeared to be receiving conflicting instructions, leading to a chaotic environment. (Kudos to the front-of-house staff member who was trying their best to manage the huge influx of people.) Lastly, let's talk about the prices, which are frankly extortionate. It's as if we were In London ! the cost of both food and drinks was astronomically high, far exceeding the average prices found at other local restaurants

Lovely pub hidden in the back streets, great seating inside and out. Quiet when we visited but would imagine that it would get full in the summer holiday months. Dog friendly. Really tasty, well presented food. Plenty of choices on the menu. Staff very friendly and helpful. Great little find and would thoroughly recommend.

Was Disappointed with the seafood sharing platter, it was 3 bowls of deep fried beige, the lemon sole goujons had been replaced with something else but I couldn't identify what fish they were and there were no marinated prawns, the chips were very flourey which made them dry and hard to eat without constant washing down, however the staff were nice and pub had a good atmosphere, door leading to loos and kitchen could do with a clean very grubby

The first time we’ve been to Exeter and found this wonderful place. Staff were friendly and helpful. The food was delicious. I recommend the lamb tagine. We also had the salmon dish too. To start we had flat bread with the aubergine dip… delicious and to finish we had the orange panacotta type desert with figs and prune and golden sultana compote. Will come here again.

Honest O — Google review
A beautiful pub located in Dartmouth. It is small, with only about 7 tables, and I was very lucky to nab a table so that I could order some food. Only one member of staff working one small bar so you have to be patient as she also has to go up and down the stairs for the food. A good selection of food available and as this is a CAMRA pub you have a good selection of real ales as well. I ordered the Hunters Chicken and had some Reverend James ale whilst I waited for my food. It’s a very friendly pub with an open fire, original beams and very dog friendly. My food arrived and I was very happy with how it looked. I was blown away by how it tasted and loved every single bite of it. The chicken was amazing, the bacon and sauce enhanced everything and I cleared that plate of food. Please remember that this is a very small pub, so like I did, give up your table once you have eaten and stand by the bar to enjoy the lovely atmosphere of the place and let someone else enjoy it as well. Highly recommend The Cherub.

If I could give 10 stars out of 5 I would! By far our favourite meal in woolacombe! We had dinner here in june, and a few drinks in the outside area (a few times!) Prawns to start which were seriously maybe the best I have ever had :) Lobster was on the specials, and I was worried about how to eat it so I asked the friendly waiter who assured me the staff would help if I got stuck! The lobster was beautiful and although I didn't actually need help the wonderful people working there checked in with me :) My friends meals were also excellent! Drinks outside also recommended; amazing views:)

Amazing spot! Perfect for a nice sunny day. Booked for lunch service on the 28th August 2025. The restaurant is in a beautiful village and has been well decorated throughout however, this is where the good experience ended for me and my wife for her birthday meal. When we arrived there was no one at the bar to greet us and we had to wait 5 minutes for someone to see to us and take us to our table. On arrival at our table it was not set and I had to ask for the correct tableware after we had been left at our table. Then it took 30 minutes for our order to be taken and then a further 40 minutes for the food to arrive. The food quality was very poor for the price. We paid 59 pounds for 2 sandwiches, 2 drinks and chips and the steak on the steaks sandwich was very chewy and the fish fingers did not taste fresh on the fish finger one. We also asked for sauces for our chips and these did not arrive so had to ask again. Really disappointed as we found this on the Michelin guide and every restaurant we have visited from the guide, the well over 100 we have, has lived up to or exceeded expectations. But this restaurant is not up to the guides high standards.

Went for the ribeye on the bone. At £130 for two to share it should have been exceptional. It was not. No matter how good your beef, if you can’t cook it to perfection (or even medium rare for that matter) then you need to stop charging top dollar and have a rethink about your focus. A restaurant whose signature dish is its beef needs to get it right every time.

Captain Jacks Bar, Restaurant & Beer Garden is a delightful spot that perfectly blends good food, quality drinks, and a vibrant music scene. Nestled in the oldest building of Woolacombe, this charming venue has a rich history as a former pirate haunt. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, making it an ideal place for both humans and their furry friends thanks to its dog-friendly policy.
There is seating inside and out. Most people were sitting outside as the weather was good. If you go round the back there are toilets with 1 step up, the width of the toilet is the width of the door. There could be more toilets, not sure where. The meals we had were hot. The staff were friendly and helpful. There is a small car park at the rear.

It was quiet when we went in so we could choose our table. Staff were friendly. We ordered the sharing fish platter and were told it would be 20-30 mins, which it was. It was served with good, hot chips, nice dips and a good salad. The fish itself was beautifully cooked. What prevented top marks was that every piece of seafood or fish, except one butterfly prawn, was covered in batter or breadcrumbs, which made it too same-y and dull. If some pieces were served as just cooked fish, this dish would be elevated.

Nice big place, food wasn't as good as I thought it maybe. Starters seemed to be in my opinion to be microwaved. Steamed gyoza shouldn't have crispy edges. Chips were good.

Absolutely love it. Walked in the door and asked for a " Hunters chicken ", as advertised on the window outside. And" Joe" the barmaid got it sorted for me and a curry for the other half. And a lovely pint of " Mena du" into the bargain. Worth every penny. Will definitely be back and looking at booking a room at the Woolacombe Bay Hotel next year.. a beautiful little town/ village. Fantastic beach ( spent an hour just watching the surfers in the surf ). All in all... an excellent visit.

It's popular among locals and students on pub crawls, making it an ideal spot for those who enjoy meeting new people and learning about their stories.
This place is wonderful. Historic building, excellent food, and great beer & ale. My first trip I sat upstairs in the wing-back chairs, and I ordered the steak and ale pie and a Guinness. The pie was delicious, as were the mashed potatoes and the cabbage. Several other trips revealed more wonderful food and great beer/ale. Their sticky coffee pudding is fantastic. Service was efficient and everyone was extremely polite. Highly recommend you stop by!

Surprisingly good food given exterior appearance. Also exceedingly friendly and proactive staff who use their brains, unlike many others. You would be amazed! Simple fare bit recommended highly. Also a great selection of beers to boot!

My friends and I enjoyed our visit to this pub. The staff was very friendly and welcoming, and let us sample a few ales so we could decide what we liked to order ( my personal favorite was Otter ale). The food choices were pretty solid, and i quite enjoyed their duck leg confit, which was very delicious. I can definitely recommend this historic pub. Apparently, Sir Francis Drake liked it too.

You get a complete pub vibe here. I was their on a Sunday so I had Veg Roast, Nut Wellington. Few months ago I went there for karaoke on a Friday night and yes I would reccomend going there it's lovely. Same goes for the roast it was really good.

The Ship Inn is a beautiful and very old pub in Exeter; the pub's atmosphere and exposed centuries-old wooden beams make dining here a really unique experience; however the portion sizes are on the small size compared to other pubs.

We were in Exeter to have a walk and have a look to same shops around middle October. I were with my partner and his parents. It was two o'clock on a Saturday, when we arrived we ordered our food and we waited patiently for 1 hour. We been offer free drinks due the long waiting but we had already our food at the time of the gentle offer. I have to say the food was well presented and cook at perfection. (check pictures) All of us enjoyed our food. I've never had a better piece of duck, the same was for the pie of my mother in law, the steak of my father in law and the chilly without carne " vegetarian option" of my partner. I am so pleased for such delicious food but I definitely will looking to the clock next time we get to eat in that pub, I do appreciated that it was a busy time but I saw a couple arrived later then us been served before us. However the place it is a lovely, cosy and traditional English pub very close to the Cathedral of Exeter, hiding away in a little allay. There are plenty of space and room to eat. I raccomend if are a lover of food like me but take a book with you it may help you to kill the time of waiting!! 😉

The Rock Inn is a historic building that houses a family-run pub featuring three distinct bars and a menu showcasing dishes made with locally sourced ingredients. The culinary offerings at this establishment are highly regarded, ranging from traditional pub classics to innovative gastronomic creations. Visitors praise the quick service and high-quality, piping hot meals, including delectable options like fish and chips, veg cassoulet, Sunday roasts, scampi and chips, as well as curry of the day.
Fantastic gem hidden away from the regular touristy places. A beautiful old building that, like most places in Cornwall, dates back years and beaming with history but despite that, this place is wheelchair accessible and also dog friendly. A tasty menu offering an assortment of home cooked delights. We opted for ham +eggs +chips and aptly named 'steak and jail pie'. All meals were good sizes which unfortunately meant there was no room to sample desserts. Very clearly a pub wrapped around the local community but still very welcoming to others that go in. All of the staff were very friendly and the atmosphere backed that up. A great place with great food.

We popped in here over lunchtime for a lovely meal. It was mid week and quite busy. The menu was clear and there was lots of choice. Staff were super friendly. The steak and ale pie was huge! Loads of chips, peas and gravy too. The veggie burger was also good. The toilets were clean, with plenty of good quality soap. There were also a few parking spaces outside despite being busy. Parking tip - if you are coming from the Plymouth or Tavistock direction, don't be tempted to come off the roundabout at the car park by the shops as there is often a queue and parking fees. Head towards Princetown and take the first exit on the right after the roundabout. this takes you to the pub car park.

Had a lunch date here and it was a nice menu with traditional ploughman's lunch that was huge. Roast dinners are popular here. Nice ales and great service the staff are friendly and helpful. Reasonable prices for the quality of food served. Parking can be limited on busy weekend lunchtimes.

Love the Rock Inn. The service, food and cleanliness is second to none. Staff are lovely and so welcoming and accommodating. Great sitting out on the terrace when it's warmer and lovely cosy bars for colder days. Dog friendly in all but one area and one of those places you can recommend to others without hesitation. Can thoroughly recommend the prawn mayo roll and vegetarian roast- two great favourites. My friends had the beef last Sunday and said it was the best they've had 🥰

Visited with my cousin and her husband. Lovely place great food, generous portions, and lovely beer. 16.07.25, the steak pie is fab so good we don't even ask for a menu. Good to see Dartmoor brewery AF is on the drinks menu.

Unfortunately the food was not very good — neither the fish and chips nor the cheeseburger. The service was friendly though and it looked quite cozy inside. The outside seating felt a bit too much like being in a car park.
Marta R — Google review
One of those pubs that's exactly like you expect it to be, but better. Didn't have food but the beer was superb, the service fab, and the two most adorable labradors were asleep in the bar. A bar which had a "no children" sign, which in this day and age is most welcome. If this place was 60 miles from home it would be my local. Loved it.

The Fat Pig is a unique and lively pub located in Exeter, known for its use of local produce and its own mini-brewery. The pub prides itself on serving delicious dishes made with fresh ingredients sourced from local farms, including their own game. In addition to their European-style menu, the pub offers a variety of in-house ales and spirits. The venue's quirky atmosphere and love for pooches make it a popular spot among locals and visitors alike.
Tiny is excellent, his Guinness is excellent, his teams service is relaxed and joyful making patrons so welcome and comfortable. And then you get to the food. Absolutely fantastic, had the lamb soup with chick peas, classic chicken dish breast on the bone cooked perfectly and then this apply flapjack crumble was a perfect end to a great meal and experience. Will be back every time I'm in town.

Absolutely loved our experience here! The Sunday Roast Beef and the Crispy Belly Pork were truly outstanding — full of flavor, tender, and perfectly cooked. Every bite was a delight! Just a little note: the Sunday roast is available only on Saturdays and Sundays, so make sure to plan your visit accordingly. The cozy little restaurant has such a warm and welcoming vibe, made even better by the lovely and friendly staff who made us feel right at home. No wonder the place fills up so quickly! Highly recommend booking in advance to secure your spot. Definitely a place we'd love to return to again and again.
Phatt H — Google review
Tens all round! Despite the signage suggesting something different about The Fat Pig, the entrance is through a bright yellow door straight off the street and suddenly you are immersed in an excitable, bubbly atmosphere in the main bar area. I can get loud, but isn't this a familiar trait of the best pubs. Beyond the bar area, there's a newer section with more tables for dining/drinking. There's even a beer shelf outside on the narrow link to Fore Street. The food's good too. Parking adjacent in a Ringo carpark. Definitely recommend. We went on a Friday night - it's open on other nights too!!

This pub is one the finest we've been to. It absolutely deserves the reputation it has. The food, the beer, the atmosphere are all just spot on. The staff are extremely friendly and efficient. More pubs should be like this. Forget the Chains and seek out this pub!!

Very relaxing and chilled, excellent food, staff friendly and good choice of beer, overall lovely place,,, if you want Sunday lunch you must book.

I always think it's a good sign if a place has a small menu. The Fat Pig has 4-5 main dishes, which they do extremely well. I've heard a lot of compliments about the pub over the past 4 years and have been meaning to check it out for a while. Despite the word-of-mouth buzz, it still exceeded my expectations. The front bar was snug and busy, full of life. The restaurant area at the back had a lovely atmosphere, and I was tempted by much of the menu. The focaccia starter tasted like a mild American cornbread and had a hint of cumin. It was a welcome variation, and a good portion size for two. I enjoyed the crispy beef, but the star of the show for me was the gorgonzola tagliatelle. The balsamic glaze was the perfect touch, absolutely beautiful. While the dishes were a touch on the expensive side, I thought they were worth it. I would recommend this place highly.

This has to be one of the best places to grab some food, or bask in the sun with a cold drink in Woolacombe. We have returned many times having tried most other local establishments. Bit of a wait for food when it’s busy, but the food was fantastic and reasonably priced given the location and situation. Really good vegan options and my wife still talks about the Thai curry. Also a great selection of interesting beers. Highly recommend.

We were recommended this bar by a friend and in honesty I thought from the name it might be a bit young for us, however I couldn't have been more wrong. Tucked away in the vibrant heart of Plymouth's historic city center, The Stable is a delightful destination that offers more than just drinks; it provides a unique experience. This charming venue, housed in a converted stable, features rustic elements like exposed brick and reclaimed wood, creating an inviting atmosphere with cozy booths. The Stable boasts an impressive selection of craft beers and cocktails alongside its standout menu filled with delicious wood-fired pizzas and locally sourced dishes.
Found this place while visiting my son in Plymouth. It was a lovely summers evening and Spoons wasn't going to cut it tonight. Saw the Stable, fancied pizza and glad we walked in. Sat outside on a nice shaded terrace, beautiful view of the harbour. Tried the Harbour single fin lager and son had the raspberry cider which was good. Really light and refreshing. Ordered the "meat is on" pizza, son ordered the pepperoni. 2 huge crispy pizzas turned up and they were both fantastic. Best pizza I've eaten in a while. Crispy thin base, loads of toppings. One pizza is enough for 2. It's hard to find a decent restaurant that does one thing really good and this place does it. They also do tater tots 😍. Excellent staff, great service. Will be back next time I'm in town.

Enjoyable dinner here last week of pizza and cider! Was very impressed with the pizzas and also the selection of vegetarian/plant based pizzas. I’d recommend the vegan burrata pizza as it was delicious! Cant comment on the service too much as we ordered on our phones but staff were friendly. Only criticism is that my cider was warm - Monkey Mango fyi. Would recommend!

The pizzas and desserts were very tasty, I went for a BBQ base Feelin’ Clucky. There was 6 of us and we all had a different pizza, everyone enjoyed theirs. The lady serving was also very friendly and attentive, the atmosphere was nice and laid back with a great view of the Barbican.

DELICIOUS gluten-free pizza! We visit Plymouth every year and go to the stable every time as a safe place for me to eat! The pizza is always so good and they also have vegan cheese too if you want it! They served my pizza with a different colour pizza slicer so it’s clear mine is gluten free! Not sure if this restaurant is celiac safe, but definitely have gluten free/ lactose free and vegetarian/ vegan options! Call ahead if you have any concerns, the staff were really helpful and knowledgable! The only down side is that the gluten free pizza is smaller than a gluten base pizza, but the same price which is a shame - but still pleased they don’t charge extra for gluten free like a lot of places do. There was quite a long wait on food, but it is delicious when it arrives! You can also order some starters which came out quickly which is what we did whilst we waited for the mains! Last visited: May 2025 (photo is from this visit. My Gf pizza on the left and my partners gluten pizza on the right).

Very rarely is it that a place is EXCEPTIONAL. But NoBody Inn truly is! A little off the beaten track but very much worth it. As soon as we arrived we were greeted by friendly staff and everything about our stay was perfect. The food at NoBody Inn is delicious. Dinner was wonderful. Breakfast huge and exceptional quality. Room was very comfortable and everything we needed. Beautiful location. Quiet and lovely beer garden. The staff were brilliant in every way and especially Joe who made us feel very welcome and told us about local walks or how to get to places etc. We really loved our time there and will book again next time we are in the area or as a stopover when heading to Cornwall. Have recommended it to all our family and friends.

Having just this weekend experienced a wonderfully relaxing afternoon family BBQ at The NoBody Inn I can't think of a pub in Devon that I'd rather be for a BBQ when the sun is shining. The views of Devon countryside are outstanding, the service was relaxed, efficient and friendly, the food choice and quality excellent, my pork was delicious and the beef strip and monkfish that other members of our family had were also delicious. The puddings were simple and tasty and the drinks selection was as good as ever. The new owners are clearly carrying on the traditions of excellent food, hospitality and drink that the Inn has been famous for. Great to see that it is still independently owned, and we shall be back, hopefully very soon.

Stunning. One of the tastiest roasts I've had. The Yorkshire pudding in particular was insane. There was a slight mix up with our order (forgotten starter), but the staff were so apologetic, even offering a round of drinks to make up for it. It is the quirkiest old traditional pub with a lovely cosy vibe. Highly recommend.

A disappointment. We were made to feel like we had to rush through our meal. 2 of us got there 15 minutes early and sat down. Twice we were asked if our friend was running late or if she was arriving at all. She turned up at the exact time the table was booked for. We were rushed to make our order. Food came out, it was fine, a bit soggy as if it had been sat out for a while, but it was fine. Then we were pressed to pay and leave. We were only there for 30 minutes and throughout our time there we were made to feel like we had to get through the meal as quickly as possible. Twice we were told by staff that they were expecting a rush of customers in the next 30 minutes and needed the table. The room was empty, no rush of customers. Still felt like we had to finish up quick, pay and leave. Will not be coming back.

Quite bizarre !! We have been searching Exeter for iconic unusual pubs with character and something different. This really cute little pub fits all the criteria. It is so hidden away in a back street above the river Exe and in all our years of strolling around Exeter we didn't know it existed. So quaint, steeped in history and it has a real fire. Nice real ales and friendly bar staff and......although we haven't tried it.....there is a restaurant too . But we will be back to sample the menu which looks absolutely scrumptious....and in a good way.....different and varied....

BrewDog Plymouth, located in Drake Circus, is a no-nonsense chain bar that specializes in craft beers from the Scottish brewery. The venue offers an industrial-chic decor and a relaxed atmosphere, making it ideal for social gatherings or solo brunches. They also provide an Ultimate Bottomless Brunch experience. With a dog-friendly policy, BrewDog features multiple taps serving top-quality beers alongside a menu of burgers, wings, and salads.
I really like Brewdog beer, so I am happy that there is one in Plymouth. Lots of great beer choices on tap and they also have cans. It's a little more expensive than other places, but you can get offers if you sign up. They have a large menu and we had the Wednesday wings - make sure you book in advance. Nice staff and a good atmosphere - but it's normally busy.
Paul A — Google review
Dissapointing is only the beginning Having frequently been to this BrewDog for drinks, in some establishments you would consider these people regulars and treat them as valued customers, we thought it was time to try out the ‘unlimited’ wings Wednesday. This time our group was of three as opposed to our usual two, admittedly, I had made a mistake in booking and only booked the two. Worth noting this was after trying to book in the bar and being told you can only book through the website. Is this by any means more convenient for the customer; is this just less of a ballache for the staff? I can only theorize. Having accepted my mistake I asked if there was anything we could do? The restaurant area was roughly 30% full. We were told very brutally ‘no’. Customer service is a brilliant trade and one I fully value having worked in it for many years myself, I do not value rudeness nor the lack of empathy required to find any sort of resolution. This is only the beginning. Staff in this BrewDog are normally very friendly, with one very clear exception, no surprise the one refusing to resolve the situation. We were in fact informed we could under no circumstances share any of our two wings we were permitted even after buying another full price meal, this I will get onto in a minute. For any reader I question: have you ever been out with your partner or friends and wanted them to try a taste of your food or vice versa? At this point we were rather hungry and waiting for the waiter to take our order. And waiting. No waiter. We had to walk up to the bar to order the food including one £15 burger, with no chips. After only a 45 minute wait the food arrived. When we asked for chips upon the burgers arrival it was only a further 45 minutes until they arrived alongside two of ours second portion of wings. The burger was long gone by this point, out of hunger certainly not enjoyment. The wings were okay. The next round I opted for cauliflower wings. I find this easier to describe as battered dough that may have seen a cauliflower at some point in its life. Don’t worry the dissapointment doesn’t stop. All the wings are paired with a sauce. This was not seen after the first portion. Instead replaced with a large portion of some vomit-like lemony substance underneath one of the wings. Frankly repulsive, I struggled to stomach this. Our final round saw a complimentary blonde beard hair in one of the wings. Not sure if this is their way of making up for the lack of sauce or just shocking. One bonus I didn’t pay for the chips. This was not their initiative but mine. If they would like to create an issue with this I’m happy for a chat about the whole experience. As the staff were too rushed off their feet for a chat at the time with the 4 tables they had. My gosh I don’t envy such a tough shift for 7 people (!) Worth adding on to the end here majority of the staff, again with one major exception, are absolutely lovely and great bartenders. This experience was really not a great show of their skill. As always the beer was thoroughly enjoyable and reasonably priced. I will not be coming back for food.

Went in for a quick bite before cinema & ordered a couple drinks, Korean BBQ cauliflower wings & some frickles. We ordered the 10 count of wings and they gave us way more and they were delicious! Will definitely be going back :)

We went for Wingstock after wanting to try for a while but left disappointed. The 2 servers/bartenders were trying to speak to half of the group each, but at the same time, and giving us different information which made things confusing. We ordered some wings which were forgotten and one of the servers was either very tired or just not bothered about being there. The first wings were great, but then the wings we had were so overcooked they were difficult to bite and the coating of one portion was extremely dry (advertised as satay which we thought would be a sauce), but menu did not specify. They were inedible and we ended up leaving them. Was very disappointing and I think it will be a once only trip unfortunately.

Came to visit Wednesday only a few days ago. Large table of us approximately 12/14. Drinks order seemed to take forever, I’d say well over 20 mins just to take the order, but once order they were delivered quickly. I ordered another drink keener which didn’t and I had to remind the waiter. I won’t blame the waiter as he was rushed off his poor feet as it was a busy evening. The wings were soaked in sauce, far, far too much sauce and ruined the wings. The Korean bbq was far too salty The Smokey bbq were nice but the amount of sauce ruined them and then we have the revolting lemon and herb. DO NOT GO FOR THESE they are disgusting and again far too much sauce. As it was wings Wednesday you get a time limit which is fine however, drinks 30 mins before touching one. Wings at least another 30 mins and each plate coming out was another 20/30 mins. More waiter staff needed. Finally the bill, we all paid yet the waiter seemed to think he was a serving short which then we all had to get out our online bank payments to prove.

A very enjoyable trip with good quality food on offer. Equity for Punks discount on drinks plus 50% off discount for food certainly helped. Menu is a bit limited but the food was very well cooked and would come back again

Wings Wednesdays have improved massively. It used to be very difficult to re-order but now staff seem to be asking whenever they walk past. The food and beer is as good as ever. But the service is so much better.

Nearly £7 for a pint of Punk IPA! Brew Dog are having a laugh; just go to ‘Spoons and get the same pint for less than £4. Also, the pint wasn’t even that cold (given, it was a warm day).

Totnes Brewing Company is a popular spot in Totnes, offering a unique and quirky setting for an enjoyable evening. The company's craft drinks are stocked at The Barrel House, where weekly gigs and light-hearted audience interaction create a convivial atmosphere. Additionally, the Grade II listed 15th-century coaching inn at the top of historic Totnes serves as the brewery tap for New Lion Brewery and hosts several beer festivals throughout the year.
Beautiful location with excellent selection of beers, friendly service and crowds. Open mic on Tuesdays is free and well worth seeing. Highly recommended!

Wow what a place. A beer lovers dream run by passionate, friendly and knowledgeable staff. Dog friendly with the best beer selection I've found so far in Devon. A cosy but large indoor space with a beer garden out back. Good tunes, great pints and the lovely smell of fresh beer being brewed. An absolute must if you are in the area.

Unfortunately was only in the area briefly but it would have been criminal if we didn't visit this busy bar/pub. A great choice of ales all served with a smile. Will certainly be back next time I'm in the area.

Good selection of beer at sensible prices. No food available but you can get it delivered via Deliveroo or similar. It was a bit quiet for a weekend, maybe too early.

Interesting quirky little pub selling real ale and craft beer. Worth a visit though staff weren't wearing masks and didn't encourage anyone else to wear them. Worth a visit if in area.

Another awesome spot to visit in Totnes… Really vibrant inside and outside. Nice touch to the place. Got a good selection of drinks and nibbles… Not sure if they cater for little ones but the court yard out the back is very secure.

Staff are lovely, selection is great! It's got a good old timey feel to it. Only negative is that there were flies everywhere to the point where I got one in my drink. It's tricky when there's beer around I know.

Nestled along the picturesque banks of the Yealm estuary, The Ship Inn is a beautifully renovated waterside pub that perfectly blends charm and comfort. With its inviting sun terrace, it's an ideal spot to unwind with a refreshing drink while soaking in stunning views. Inside, you'll find a cozy atmosphere featuring oak floors, log fires, and an eclectic collection of nautical memorabilia that tells tales of maritime adventures. The panelled library adds a touch of sophistication for those looking to curl up with a good book.
We were in Devon for 80th birthday celebration and had a big party booked (22 persons) into the Ship Inn on a Sunday afternoon. Due to the size of the party we had to be split into two areas, this worked well and the staff worked well in ordering and timing the meals across the two areas. For such a large group they managed to serve us all within a reasonable time, a minor miracle with the size of group we had. The staff were so helpful and polite making the afternoon ass great event. Everybody was complimentary about the meals they recieved. The loaction in the outside room where one the groups were situated had a lovely view of the harbour/inlet.

Stopped here after a long walk with the dog. Lovely atmosphere and location. Managed to get a table. Would have been a higher review, as we have been here a number of times. However, the food this time was lacking. We only ordered the fish finger sandwich, which at £12 i expected a little more. Crusty bread or handcut bloomer, not a medium sliced bit of bread. I had one small piece of pickled fennel. There was an even smaller piece of watercress. There wasnt much fish in the sarnie. If you like gem lettuce, then this is the sarnie for you. The seasoned crisps were very nice. I will eat here again, but will avoid the sandwiches.

Beautiful location with glorious views on the terrace. Luckily, we visited on a sunny day and was able to enjoy the aesthetics. Food was tasty and good portions. The ex dairy cow burger was cooked perfectly, but I suffered food envy over the Sunday lunches, which looked amazing.

A great pub with a lovely atmosphere. My boyfriend and I came here after a long hike and they were very accommodating. They also had board games. The food was nice, but the one thing I’d say was it was a little overpriced for what it was. 17.50 burger is quite expensive and it wasn’t the most amazing, however still delicious and we had a great time here. Staff were great.

Visited today with my parents - from the moment we arrived we were welcomed by a very friendly chap ( wish I had got his name as he served us over the 3 hours and was very tentative ( blue & white checked shirt ) all staff were lovely! Food was fresh and very tasty - plenty of drinks / wine choices and I can see why it comes highly recommended - beautiful idyllic little village and the pub on the estuary …sun was shining today and gorgeous, but I can also see how it would be cosy in winter too …. The attention to detail for children & dogs was also noted - I Can’t wait to visit again soon with some friends - well done to the team 👍

Apparently under new management. Went for a meal with 8. The people who had burgers said they were excellent. Fish and chips excellent. Mussels a bit overcooked but decent sauce. Sausages good but not outstanding as mash could have been smoother and creamier. Backed gnocchi was good. Deserts were all very tasty. Service was attentive but in no way overpowering. Atmosphere is hard to beat with it's position on a sunny spring lunch time. Overall I would say if you want very special food there may be better. However it is very good and the location makes it hard to beat for a meal out.

The Ram Bar is a popular student hangout located on Streatham Campus in Exeter. While not primarily a live music venue, it offers a relaxed atmosphere with food and drink options. With six screens for live sports, regular pub quizzes, and occasional live music events, The Ram is an ideal spot for pre-event drinks or casual gatherings.

Common place for freshers to lose their bar virginity in Exeter. They play corny outdated early 2000s music which the patrons have little control over. You would jump through hoops and download some half-baked app developed by some college kid for their summer pet project, only to realize you could only choose from the 15 pre-selected bangers from 2000s Billboard Best Elevator Songs. Do not get wings because they are cheap with their portions. Mostly because they are dry and borderline unfit for consumption. Great for sporting events if you do not want to mingle with locals (as we all know they stink).

Typical uni/student bar. Good prices for food and drink. Don't expect a gourmet experience. It is what it is. No complaints about service or quality. Does exactly what it says on the tin.
Steve S — Google review
Nice student pub with very affordable drink prices, great for meeting friends and hosting casual gatherings. The food, however, leaves a lot to be desired. It tastes microwaved and lacks freshness. While it's cheap, the quality doesn't quite match expectations, and right now, it’s pretty disappointing.

Took 15 minutes to order because their bar was closed and the mobile service kept having errors. I did finally manage to order the ‘famous’ macaroni cheese, but unfortunately it quickly became apparent that ‘famously dreadful’ would be a much more accurate description of it. It was by far the single worst thing I’ve eaten since moving to university two years ago. Absolutely dire. Easily the worst macaroni cheese I’ve ever tried, making it somehow even worse than the suspicious microwave meal I get from the corner shop. The best that I can say for the place is that the booze is reasonably priced - not cheap, just reasonable.

Great hangout for students. Food prices are student friendly, and atmosphere is great. Excellent serving sizes and halal meat options are available sometime if you ask for them (they are not explicitly stated on the menu).

This establishment is an excellent spot specifically for students, who would find it particularly appealing due to its friendly atmosphere and fairly priced beverages. The Fortescue pub, situated in Mutley Plain, Plymouth, is renowned for its selection of cask-conditioned real ales and cocktails. It also offers an extensive range of wines. This establishment is widely recognized as the premier pub in the city by both locals and tourists alike. With its inviting ambiance and sun trap at the back, it provides an ideal setting to enjoy a pint on a summer evening.
I recently wondered to my favourite pub on Mutley. I had approximately an hour possibly an extra half hour if my wife got distracted whilst shopping. However I digress I managed to sink 3 pints of high strength cider gladiator it was called whilst sat in my most favourite chair in any pub I have ever visited. The staff were amazing and friendly as they always are. My wife arrived and rather than request I leave immediately she decided to join me and enjoy a drink also. I absolutely love this place. The amount of choice at the bar is phenomenal. I cannot recommend this pub enough. So chilled and so relaxed.

Casinos & Gambling
Nestled in the heart of Plymouth, Genting Casino offers a delightful blend of gaming excitement and a cozy atmosphere. Opened in 2012, this modern-styled casino may be on the smaller side, but it compensates with an inviting vibe and friendly staff that make every visit feel like home. Guests can enjoy a variety of games including Blackjack, Roulette, Poker, and numerous slot machines.
Great casino with a good atomsphear, friendly staff, and great management. There are two casino’s in Plymouth to choose from, pick Genting everytime. Whether you’re new in town, or just fancy something different, go to Genting (not the other one). Genting in Plymouth has always been a great casino, but it’s gone from strength to strength in recent years, and that’s 100% due to the staffing… From Dia and Tegan on reception, to the fantastic hostess staff, to the great dealers, Steve, Ricardo, Lucy, Tegan etc, to the management Elvir and Cylvia, to Abi on the cash desk, and even the doorman Dom is really friendly, they’re all great at their jobs, and as importantly, professional.. I highly recommend Genting(s)... How a casino should be run to have a fun enjoyable night.

First time visiting today, Bar staff and pit bos were polite and professional. However, there croupier, (i wont name him) was rude, blunt and obnoxious. Didn't make me feel welcome, went out of his way to be rude, he was a 1st class a-hole. Handed my membership card straight back. The experience has upset me enough to come on here and leave this review! Won't visit again. I will stick to the grosvenor over the road.

I would give it a 0 review however it’s not possible. The staff are terrible and the service is atrocious. I would not recommend going there unless you want to be treated like you didn’t belong there. Absolutely appalling.
Cara C — Google review
On and off throughout the years I have visited this particular Genting Casino, when I first visited Genting I was unemployed, aged 18 and not much of a gambler myself but I visited for the environment and to keep my friends company, who did play, subsequently I participated in the occasional table game for leisure; after some time, around the age of 20, I ended up becoming a trained and licensed croupier and was employed with Grosvenor Casino and during this time I still visited Genting, placed light bets and enjoyed the social aspects, I was quite familiar and friendly with some of the other staff. I am now 22 and signed off of work temporarily for some very personal reasons, despite this my brother asked me if I wanted to visit Genting to check out their new app and to partake in some light table games, upon arrival to the casino everything was as usual, the manager greeted us from the entrance with a friendly demeanor and swiped us in with our membership cards, he then directed us towards the cash desk with the suggestion of participation in their new promotion called "Crack The Safe", me and my brother were more than happy to check it out and followed the manager to the cash desk, when arriving at the cash desk I was greeted by an old acquaintance who was also a croupier, the manager then asked him to help us with this promotional game, before continuing the manager turned and asked me "What is your current occupation", I didn't think much of it and I was 100% honest, I said something along the lines of "Currently I am signed off work so I am temporarily unemployed", from the moment I said that, both the manager and the employee working the cash desk had a huge change in demeanor, I almost felt as if they were unapproving of my unemployment, the manager then told me "we can't let you in", there was no sense of discretion to pull me to the side and explain why, it was right there, already in the middle of the casino, that I was told I would no longer be allowed to attend the casino, no further explaination given about what that meant for my future at the casino and I was abruptly asked to leave, no other words, no explanation, we were escorted to the exit by the manager like we should have never been there in the first place and I have never been more disgusted, I felt singled out like I was some sort of outcast or troubled person simply because I do not work a 9-5 job, for over a year I worked a 40+ hour week in the same environment and now a gap in my resume means I should be treated with little to no respect? Had this been handled differently I could have maybe understood the situation, maybe it could have explained that there are more dangers in gambling when unemployed or that they require a reliable and non government funded proof of income, but I have never felt so judged and honestly quite embarrassed to be treated so differently simply because I am currently unemployed. I will no longer ever want to return to an establishment that would ever make a person feel that way and I hope that this is not a regular occurrence, I expect better customer treatment from a person in a management position.

Air conditioning wasn't working (yet again). Only had one household fan pointed at one lucky customer. It was practically unbearable for everyone else. Ice melted in the drinks before it got to us. Fair enough if A/C doesn't work, but at least sort out a suitable alternative. Had to pay for soft drinks, hot chocolate and coffee were complementary. Left early because of the heat.

I rated 5 stars for food, though they do not do food, BUT, the service, my oh my, I don’t think I am understated when I say that the experience was nothing short of phenomenal. So phenomenal I just had to give the whole place 5 well earned stars from top to bottom. To begin, I entered the quaint establishment, and was immediately hit with the palpable, joyful atmosphere. For a student bar, the aesthetics were wonderful and charming. As I approached the bar a lovely young bartender, I think her name was suchi, served me with a smile and made me feel like she really cared about providing a great service. I ordered a classic thatchers gold, and it was poured excellently, and for a great price! I only popped in for one after my shift at work, but the energy was infectious and the working attitude of the staff was so amazing and nice to be a part of. I intend to visit this pub all the time and you should too!

The burgers at this establishment were decent, albeit not remarkable enough to rave about to others. However, the real highlight of the experience was their spicy chips, which offered a delightful and tasty twist. I can attest that while the burger's overall quality didn't stand out as exceptional, the distinctly flavorful chips successfully compensated for it, providing a satisfactory dining experience.

We had an amazing night at Boom Battle Bar in Plymouth! From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was electric—great music, lively energy, and such a fun vibe. There’s a brilliant range of games to choose from; we tried axe throwing, beer pong, and shuffleboard, and honestly, each one brought a different kind of excitement. Everything was well-organized, and the staff were super helpful in explaining the rules and keeping things running smoothly. A special shoutout goes to Hannah, who truly made our evening unforgettable. She was incredibly friendly, upbeat, and attentive throughout the night. Whether it was helping us get started with the games or keeping our drinks topped up, she went above and beyond. It’s rare to find someone so genuinely enthusiastic and dedicated to great service—she really brought an extra spark to the experience. The drinks menu was also great, with a good mix of cocktails, beers, and fun options like slushies. Prices were reasonable for a venue offering such a unique night out. All in all, Boom Battle Bar is a fantastic place for groups, parties, or even date nights. We’ll definitely be back soon—and hope to see Hannah again too!

We had a great first visit to celebrate our nieces bday! Played more kid friendly games but really looking forward to coming back to try some of the other games… there are SO many to choose from! Food was good and they serve Jubel peach which a huge bonus 🍺

We play a lot of board games back home so I absolutely love finding places where we can try new games! The food are drinks were amazing, and Will was super helpful by doing a teach for both games which we really appreciated. Would definitely come again if we're in Exeter :)

A great place to play games and eat good food. Pre-booked, didn't need to for the week day but always worth doing as I can imagine it can get busy on the weekend. Staff are friendly and helpful and can help with the games. Had a fairly good variety of games for all ages and levels of gamers. Played a few games and learnt a new one for me called YAK. Not the cheapest place if you're having food due to the £8.50 admission fee but a fun place date option or tomlearn new games. They also have board games to buy there too. Would definitely recommend to anyone thinking of trying something new and like games with their partner or friends 😃

Myself and the Mrs went to board last night for date night and had an amazing time - would highly recommend to anyone! Our server/host Flynn was incredible - very attentive and knowledgeable with board game suggestions and explaining the rules to us in a clear way so we didn’t have to read through all the instructions. All the games were great, and the fact we could have a few drinks (beers and cocktails) and food topped it off. Highly recommend to anyone, and a massive shoutout to Flynn for making it such a great experience, he’s a true credit to Board and we look forward to going back.

Absolutely 10/10 service from Board. Rob was really helpful and knowledgeable about the boardgames we played. Food was really good and was overall really happy! Definitely a great spot to play boardgames with great food!

Had a great time from 6-9pm on the 25th with my siblings. We were welcomed immediately by the friendly Frazer who was attentive all evening by recommending and teaching us games, and keeping on top of our food and drinks, he is a credit to the business. Would recommend to anyone looking for a fun group activity. Thank you for your help Frazer :-)

We loved everything about this place but the service was the highlight. Such knowledgeable, funny, and helpful staff who do everything from explain how your game of choice works to getting you drinks and food. The wide selection of games to play is impressive and we love getting to try new things. The ice cream Sundays are huge and delicious. This place is built for making memories and we hope to return soon!

Really disappointed with everything about our experience here. Booked a table for 10 of us online, split up into 2 groups of 5 which wasn't a problem but started off with an £8:50 charge per person before you even sit down which I thought was expensive. Food took a very long time to come out and was chaotic when it did, chips coming 10 minutes before the burger etc! The waiter pushing us to have a plant based burger to a group of young farmers went down well..... Overall not a great experience and won't be going back.

This was a fantastic venue for clubbing, with a booming atmosphere throughout the night! Lights shining down in colours like blue and red help bring the excitement, plenty of recognizable rap and pop tunes played. Effects even fall down on us from the ceiling, for the experience it's well priced under £5!

Is this the club where the famous scene from the movie Vanilla Sky with Tom Cruise and Penelope Cruz was filmed? Does anyone know? I'm looking for this location but I can't find anywhere where this scene was filmed.

Pub
Nestled in the charming waterside town of Topsham, the Bridge Inn is a delightful throwback to a bygone era. This 16th-century cob-and-stone establishment has been lovingly maintained by the same family since 1897, creating an atmosphere that feels more like stepping into a museum than just another pub. With its antique decor—think grandfather clocks and vintage memorabilia—the inn invites patrons to savor classic British dishes alongside an impressive selection of regional real ales.
A lovely, historic building, full of character. Excellent choice of ales (and cider). Great pub food and fabulous views. It's becoming one of my favourite pubs in the wider Exeter area, and I live in Exeter!
Mike K — Google review
Great historic pub where nothing has changed over the years. It's like walking back in time. Has so much character. It's not overally big inside but there is seating outside too. Good selection of ales and other drinks, the menu is very simple but the food was tasty. Best toastie I've had in a long time.
Rachel A — Google review
This is a real treasure of an English public house. The interior decor has not altered in over a hundred years. The ceiling of the bar is unashamedly stained with wood soot and nicotine stains from days gone by. It is an old and preserved building that speaks to my retirement age soul as a reminder of how real pubs used to be before 'bistro' became our most prevalent oxymoron. The pint I drank was dark and full of flavour and my only regret was we had not arrived in time for many more. The pubs great location outside Topsham on the River Clyst affords the numerous riverside tables a fantastic view of the river and the wildlife. Food here is simple and is not the type that requires cooking. Pubs were once for drinking and a light snack that enabled you to stay a little longer. This is what The Bridge does. Simple snack food. I was lucky enough to see the meeting room at the side of the building that is licensed for weddings and also holds numerous evenings of classical, folk and other music. It's rare these days to plan a journey around a visit to a pub but I can think of few better ways to spend a warm Saturday afternoon than drinking excellent ale in this excellent pub. It's also a few minutes walk from the local train so driving need not be an option.
Ian T — Google review
Great historic place, ales straight from the cask and a cood cider choice. Had an extremely tasty chicken sandwich with a river view with a few very well kept ales
Tom H — Google review
Fantastic pub. One of the best in the country. Great beer and food. Friendly staff and one of the most outstanding interiors you'll find. Google seems reluctant to fix the hours: it's open noon-230pm and 530pm(6pm Sun)-930pm everyday.
Richard B — Google review
Lovely quirky proper real ale (and cider) pub with friendly staff and good views up the Clyst. The red arrows even put on a show for us (though they appeared to be operating monochrome only, perhaps a funding cut!). Pitchers of beer are a nice extra. Close to Topsham station and the 57 bus route.
Richard A — Google review
Just the best quirky old pub in the whole of Devon. The ale is wonderful as is the food. Simple but delicious menu. Service is suitably rude - as if they're doing me a favour... Well they probably are! Anyway, hugely enjoyed our most recent visit and will continue to come.

Timepiece Winebar & Nightclub is a lively and vibrant spot in Exeter, offering a multi-story layout with DJs, bands, and salsa nights. The venue has an intriguing history, having been the site of Devon County Prison and a burial yard dating back to the 18th Century. It's known for its themed events like 'The Haunting of Timepiece' during Halloween, featuring spooky drinks such as Blood Venom and Black Widow shots.
Corben was amazing, so kind and helpful. Please hire him full time <3 ALSO side note bouncer was super rude to my friend and kicked her out for no reason, definitely on a power trip. Apart from that had an amazing fine
Hazel B — Google review
A solid spot to vibe. The music selection is surprisingly decent, and the volume is just right: loud enough to feel the bass in your bones, but not so loud that you forget your own name. And let’s talk about the drink policy: sure, the prices are steep, but hey, bring your cup back and you unlock the magical realm of discounts. Nothing says “eco-conscious capitalism” like turning hydration into a loyalty program.
Zeppelin — Google review
Great nightclub but one female bouncer completely ruins the experience. She is so unnecessarily rude and confrontational. Always looks miserable and clearly doesn’t want to be there. We understand bouncers are there for security and not there to be welcoming and friendly but she shouldn’t be the one scanning people’s tickets. She is going out of her way to cause problems and ruin people’s nights. Real vibe killer!! She should be behind the scenes. We have experienced her several times now and it has put me off returning to this club. I asked for her name to make a complaint but unsurprisingly wasn’t given it.
Anna W — Google review
Terrible experience at this club. Staff were shockingly rude, especially someone named Eves—completely unprofessional and dismissive from the start. I’ve never felt so unwelcome in a venue. Save your money and your night—go literally anywhere else.
Family F — Google review
Hello all, Was my first night in exeter and most likely my last night due to the appalling behaviour of the staff at time piece. I was kicked out last night for allegedly being too drunk, granted i may have been at the time anyways, i was in a city i didnt know my friends were still inside and i tried to tell the bouncer this and his response was dont care and was very aggressive towards me. Anyways after about 30 mins of roaming the streets of Exeter I sobered up pretty quick. And a really kind lady helped me out she bought me back to the club to find my friends who were still inside because i had no one else. Anyways someone let me back in to find my friends i was looking around and the same bouncer met me with the same hostility, i tried to explain im just trying to find my friends he says im banned for life and says he doesnt care about my situation and practically throws me out. I am not an aggressive person even when i am drunk i normally just get really sleepy if ive had to much, but the hostility and rudeness from this man was unacceptable i understand he has a job to do but realistically last night i could have been killed on the streets of exeter if it wasn't for the kindness of strangers. Furthermore i tried to explain the situation to the woman at the door she was a larger woman with her hair in a pony tail and she met me with the same hostility and wouldnt even help me when i asked if there was somewhere i could wait until my friends came out! Was one of the least welcoming places i have ever been and i would never recommend this place due to the unkindly behaviour of the staff, i would severely reassess the people you hire because the treatment last night was appalling. Granted bar staff was lovely but door and bouncers i understand there job but they need to remember we are people

Cavern is a live music venue in Exeter that has been showcasing local and global acts since 1991. With a capacity of 200, it has hosted renowned bands like Coldplay, Muse, Kaiser Chiefs, Mumford & Sons, and Biffy Clyro before they gained international fame. The venue is at the heart of Exeter's thriving underground music scene and offers an eclectic program featuring indie, rock, and funk performances.
Exeter's legendary subterranean venue for live indie, punk, goth, alternative and general happy weirdness. Now with acceptable toilets (c.f. CBGB's in NYC!). Expect lovely staff, most of whom are indie gods in their own right, and reasonable drinks and a never ending flow of great underground music from across the world. It can be LOUD so bring ear plugs or, if you forget, ask those charming barstaff and they'll sort you out.

Great club!! Amazing atmosphere! Staff really friendly and polite, doorstaff were welcoming and had a laugh on the way in. Venue looks really clean and tidy and toilets were way better than the other clubs we went to in Exeter. Drinks prices were reasonable and the event was great, really good DJ!!

First time coming to unit 1 for the last cheesy tuesdays of 2022 and had so much fun and the atmosphere was great. Gets busy very fast so recommended going in dead on opening. I certainly will be coming back soon 😁😁😁

I had a disheartening experience at Unit 1 Exeter on 21st Jan 2024. Despite all of us having valid tickets, we were denied entry because one of our group was judged to be too intoxicated. However, this policy seemed inconsistently applied, as we observed several other noticeably drunk individuals being allowed inside. This selective enforcement of rules, especially when we saw no such restrictions for others, felt unfair and discriminatory. It's disappointing to witness such inconsistency in policy application, which tainted our perception of the venue. I hope Unit takes this feedback seriously and works towards fair and consistent treatment of all patrons, regardless of their appearance or group dynamics.

AVOID!! I have been kicked, pushed and hurt in this club by the bouncers which horrible people and they had no right. I only went outside to say goodbye to my friend and they kicked me with their feet and punched me. They would not even let me get back inside to collect my jacket, card and passport. You could end up in A and E please avoid at all costs.
Oti P — Google review
I went to this club in a super good mood and while I was dancing alone, a guy pulled my hair to annoy me. I came to him to ask him to stop, and eventually I got attacked by him and four of his friends for no reason.. The club took my report and some IDs from the group who attacked me. The group even waited for me outside to try to trap me and beat me up!! Those men were crazy and very dangerous. I did a crime report the next day and after 2-3 weeks of investigation (quite long to get the video and IDs of the attackers from the club…), the police said that they did not have enough evidence to continue their investigation! I believe the club did the minimum to help the police and preferred to protect their ‘regulars’. The attitude of those young guys was very shocking and they might kill some one one day. I would never go out again in Exeter after this terrible experience. I hope this won’t happen again to anyone, and I learnt the hard way that ignorance was the best option in this case… Take care and stop violence!
Leon D — Google review
Just don't bother. The DJ had an attitude and no taste in music, it's not 2010 anymore. The staff were rude and obnoxious apart from one lady at the door who was absolutely lovely. Loved her. If you see this can I be your friend? Despite entering the building itself my only other regret was not choking on the smoke machine

Just visiting and this is Disgusting place. Customers are allowed vape around the establishment when I checked with the Dancer she said this was permitted under a license that they had to do so but they requested not to do it near the bar to respect the bar staff. This made no sense to then it would damage to customers health and this was shared her she said that the Vapes were harmless😡Allow people to but not near the bar because it may affect the health of the bath staff look tired, rundown and had a little support seem to be very unfriendly that they were willing for anybody to come in. People were falling around drunk

Wasn’t a bad time and was very empty but we did go on a Tuesday so that isn’t their fault. Although the DJ being so rude was their fault. We were the only people in there and he refused to play our music after we requested it on the app. I went over and asked why he wasn’t playing it and started shouting saying it was too slow and the previous songs we requested were also too slow and not good. We were the only people in there like at least satisfy your only customers.
No N — Google review
Gloomy, dark, claustrophobic atmosphere, not much lighting. Everything seems to be painted black, female toilets are gross, again no lighting in there, so forget trying to touch up your make up in the one large mirror in there, which is so grimy can't see yourself anyway (Just like the Cavern club round the corner) Sat night music was boring same old same 90's early 00's remixed chart songs. Mostly youngish cis guys on the floor who beeline for you soon as you enter and won't leave you alone. Shame not an LGBTQ+ venue anymore. Heard horror stories bout the staff and bouncers, but I had no problems. Needs more lighting and defo better lit toilets!
E M — Google review
Pros- DJ: good music, open till late (3/4AM) Cons- Long wait for the drinks atleast 15-20mins, securities and people working there are RACIST max, be ready to face it if you visit especially if you are from Asia or Muslim countries. They are always partial+ towards natives. Similar instances were posted on the University of EXETER social pages years back, they made an apology post but sadly still the management nor their ethics changed.
Raajha N — Google review
Would give 0 stars if I could. Absolutely horrendous experience several weeks back. I had just ordered a drink and 2 security guards came up behind me and said I need to leave without explaining why. One grabbed my arm (not hard but it was completely unnecessary). They escorted me upstairs of which they then told me I was pushing through the crowd 'aggressively'. This was an absolute lie. It was packed that night so yes it was a struggle to get through the crowd, but no way was I doing that. I then spoke to the manager who was outside and suddenly the story changed to I was 'being hostile to bar staff'. Another daft lie, I absolutely love the bar staff in vaults and I am always polite to them. On top of this, I was not able to get my jacket out of the cloakroom straight away as they would not let me get it, and they would not give my money back for the drink I just bought. I hate to say it, but being mixed race, it is not the first time that I have been mistaken for another mixed race girl here and accused of something. Albeit that time there was an apology for the mistake, but this time(I believe this must of been what was happening again) I was left in pure disbelief in how I was treated and I will not be visiting again.
Fin N — Google review
NOT A GAY BAR. If you’re a lovely queer looking for an inclusive space to boogie in Exeter, this is not the place for you. Vaults used to be full of people across the LGBTQ+ spectrum but is now overrun by students and stag dos. Far from what a gay club should be.

If I could give a 0, i would. All the security were extremely rude. They tried to chat with my friend she rejected him (cus he wasn't her type AKA was NOT cute) and they kicked us out. Just because of That???. These people are strange/incells. Came all the way from Milano, will never come back.
Miller R — Google review
I had a very disappointing experience at this venue. Without any clear reason, I was asked to leave, and it seemed to stem from a complete misunderstanding. The way the staff handled the situation was unprofessional and upsetting. No effort was made to clarify or resolve the issue. Sadly, I can’t recommend this place to others based on how I was treated.

Absolutely great for a dance if relative genres suit..... And there are a lot of great name DJ's who mix there and different kinds of events, including day parties, places to park and a carpark nearby. Enjoy!

Brian and the team at Move hosted our Final Monastery event "The Sunday Service 2024" Brian goes above and beyond helping promoters get the best for their night. The Sound system Is Funktion-One and the venue is of a proper underground feel. Every member of staff is happy and always on hand to help. The door staff are vigilant but not rude and pushy like a lot of venues which helps massively with the overall vibe of punters through the door, all while keeping them safe. We hired both Move and Bomba and had the terrace open as well and everyone who came to the event loved both venues equally and had an awesome night. can not recommend enough.....Support your venues and they will support you. Thank you so much guys and good luck going forward. Dan @ The Monastery.

Went to a Ned by Ten experience. The actual building is abit grim but the DJ was awesome
Kate P — Google review
The DJ was great that night, very good indeed. However, when my friend got caught smoking we got kicked out which is fine. we understand we broke the rule. We were cooperating and just headed to the exit in peace but the bouncer was violent and repeatedly shoved/ pushed on the way out. Very aggressive and use unnecessary force. Also asked some other bouncers entry questions on the way in earlier that night. They are particularly friendly either. But the bartenders here are nice. saw some other reviews here regarding rude bouncers 3 years ago. Guess its still the same. What a shame

Best club in Exeter, have had some of my best nights here and will recommend anyone to come here. Got the biggest DnB lineups in Devon as per.

If you’re looking for a night where the music does the talking go to move. It is definitely one of the best underground music venues in the South West!!

Move is by far my favourite venue in Exeter, with great staff and an amazing atmosphere. I've been a regular at Move for over 3 years now, and I think ill be going back for many years to come. Nowhere else has such an intimate atmosphere, paired with top quality sound which has lead to some of the most memorable nights out of my life! Bierkeller upstairs is also an amazing place to hang out with friends by the quay for some steins, or a great place to chill out when open as the top floor of some of the bigger club nights. The staff are always friendly and open to ideas for improving the experience. 10/10 club A****

Annabel's Cabaret and Discotheque is a must-visit in Plymouth, offering an unforgettable nightlife experience. The venue features live music, burlesque dancers, and a vibrant atmosphere with belly dancers, jive and tango performers. On the first floor, enjoy cocktails and DJs while the second floor transforms into a nightclub space after dark. The soul and funk playlist adds to the allure of this sophisticated establishment.
The staff in Annabel’s are amazing nothing too much trouble. I lost my phone and fortunately someone handed it into a member of staff. I contacted Annabel’s and when they checked after me giving a description they confirmed it was there. Living in South Wales it was impossible for me to go back and pick it up so the staff arranged to have the phone posted back to me. Ever so helpful and amazing staff. Would definitely recommend a place to go when in Plymouth. Thanks so much.

Annabells is really good, especially on the middle floor but what is going on on the top floor…the music is so bad. They don’t even play original Pitbull it’s like poor remixes of good songs. When you sort a good DJ out on the top floor I’ll be back but for the time hire a good DJ

What a great venue. If Carlsberg did nightclubs..... Saw a superb band called One Foot in the Groove. Brilliant!!

Went for a live gig to see the scribes and had a blast. Awesome venue across two floors! Great 2-for-1 cocktail deal that were really yummy. Can't wait to be back

Great night. Live band too
Dominic H — Google review
A pleasant venue that doesn't really start warming up until after the pubs close. On Friday and Saturdays it is very dependent on the type and quality of the band playing. There is always a DJ playing in the upstairs room though. The clientele is quite lively and hen groups are a plenty which is ok if you like that kind of thing.
Mike M — Google review
Was there last night and the place upstairs stank of stale piss!! It was disgusting! Can’t believe I paid to get into your establishment to feel sick 😷. The music was erratic also, DJ, was having an off night perhaps. Hopefully the carpets and sofa will undergo cleaning before opening again to the public. Annabel’s is usually a safe decent enough place to go to on a night out but it’s gone swiftly downhill!!!

Turk's Head is an Exeter-based microbrewery that offers experience days for those interested in brewing. The pub has reopened and offers a nice selection of brews and cider. However, some visitors found the capacity to be low, leading to queues outside despite empty tables inside. The bar area is described as long and narrow, but the rooms at the back are recommended for a better experience.
Rocket Queen burger was delicious… delivered very well quickly and love the pink paper and all the team were friendly. My friend had the mac and cheese, best she’s had in a while! Lovely little terrace which catches the sun beautifully. Thank you Charlie for the spritz, just what we needed for the hot day. Was fun watching the team in the pub brewery, amazing they brew their own at the pub!

I came here with my dad & father-in-law for a beer brewing experience day with the master brewer Tilly. The whole day was absolutely amazing, a personalised hands on experience brewing the Dickies Best bitter from start to finish. Tilly was an amazing host, very patient with us and explained everything clearly, answered all of our questions and the whole day was great fun. We had coffees through the morning & flites of various beers in the afternoon plus an amazing lunch (I had an awesome burger and chips). I had already visited the pub several times before and it's a fantastic place. The building itself is very quirky, they have loads of their own beers on tap and great food. They also have plenty of TV screens showing various sports. I would highly recommend coming to this pub and if you're up for something different then definitely try the brewing experience day with Tilly.

I would honestly give it 10 stars for the service and atmosphere, if I could. This pub has become my absolute Number 1 whenever I visit Exeter. Great selection of drinks, their beers made in house are AMAZING. The staff is friendly, helpful, and generally: there's just real good lively pub vibes. Their Vegan Sunday roast is delicious with homemade Wellington: flavours and textures are spot on. Ps. Message for the ladies: the toilets are clean and tidy, and they supply a nice hand lotion.... that's always a nice touch.

Absolutely beautiful pub. The staff were amazing and very welcoming considering we had a lot of suitcases. Very good drink selection and the atmosphere was lovely. Will definitely be back next time I'm in exeter.

Love this place, all the staff are welcoming and friendly, they always know their stuff when it comes to beer, which is no surprise considering they make most of it. Luke pointed me in the direction of crystal maze their in house brewed lager which hit the spot for sure. Also worth mentioning the banging Sunday roast that I've had here a number of times now, 10/10 would recommend
Matthew C — Google review
A lovely venue nestled in the heart of the city, an amazing selection of drinks with a load that are made on site! Staff have amazing knowledge of products and were able to steer me away from my regular drink onto a particularly lovely own brewed lager called crystal maze.

If you're looking for a vibrant nightlife experience, Coast Bar & Nightclub in Kingsbridge is the ultimate destination. This lively venue is known for its electrifying atmosphere, especially during the summer and festive seasons when it attracts a youthful crowd eager to dance the night away. With pulsating bass drops and an inviting dance floor, it's perfect for those who love to party late into the night.
Kingsbridge is a small town, but this club is very good considering the size of it and the population of Kingsbridge. Very cheap drinks compared to other big clubs I've been to and nice staff. Good music and dancefloor. Would recommend going.

Only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is because while I was there was in fact a murder on the dancefloor and someone did in fact steal the moves (DJ)
