The Royal Hotel, a grand establishment dating back to 1832, offers elegant rooms, an upscale restaurant, and an outdoor pool. It is a family-friendly hotel that goes beyond providing just the basics for children. The staff are attentive and accommodating, catering to families with young children by offering pureed meals for babies and warm milk for toddlers. This venerable grande dame on the Isle of Wight exudes an atmosphere reminiscent of a bygone era while still maintaining its vibrancy.
A hotel that actually delivers what it promises. The Royal has wonderful old school charm which is very rare these days. The Staff are very very attentive and seem genuinely interested that everything is right for you. (very rare). The pool area and garden is the highlight of this hotel...if you hit good weather you will spend all your time here. very very relaxing. The restaurant is proper old school great service restaurant. My only slight warning is that if you visit during a heatwave I would imagine the rooms are very hot (No AC)...mine (on the top floor) was warm in just daytime temperatures of 20ºC, so in 30ºC I couldn't imagine it would be quite um hot! All in all brilliant

Quaintly old school, but wonderful for that very concept. Food absolutely delicious, however as I am a vegetarian I couldn't have stayed longer than 3 days on that menu. Gardens are exquisite, the gardener should get a bonus for it's beauty and care. So why oh why is the interior of the hotel plastered with fake plants, mainly orchids. Not what you would expect in a fine hotel. Staff,as everyone says are fabulous and it's very very clean everywhere if a little tired in places, which probably adds to its charm

We had a lovely lunch at the royal. It was a place I have always wanted to go and it did not disappoint. It’s like stepping back in time. Lovely large dining hall with ample seating and enough tables for a vibrant yet chilled afternoon lunch. The food was superb. The Sunday roast was just perfect. Again the staff were so good well presented and extremely polite and friendly. It was a perfect afternoons lunch. Well done we will return.

Went for an alfresco lunch. Lovely seasonal menu with a good choice of wine by the glass. Perfectly served IOW tomatoes. Bar staff are very efficient and friendly. Prices are very reasonable. It’s a very relaxing, spacious garden to sit in with nice chairs and shade if you require it. Toilets are near the bar on the ground floor and are very clean. The hand wash is amazing.

My husband and I had a champagne cream tea at the weekend. We live locally and have had many lovely afternoons/evenings at this delightful hotel. As always the gardens are absolutely beautiful (especially as it was a blue sky sunny day) the staff attentive, professional and friendly. Although we are always happy with the food, this was by far the best cream tea we have ever had ! Enough for me to write a review as did not want this to go unnoticed. The scones were delicious and super fresh as were the finger sandwiches (I'm a vegetarian so the choice is not always exciting, but it certainly was on this occasion) and the really tasty cakes. I usually take what I can't eat home, but it was so exceptional,I managed to eat it all !!!!!! There was also no compromise with the champagne, it was top quality. Extremely high standards, arguably the best on the Island.
LUCY R — Google review
We had a wonderful afternoon tea here. The food (and tea) were fab - best scones we've ever had! Internal communication could do some work as they confirmed veggie food for us (twice) and then on the day "had to check with the kitchen", and they also forgot about the extra treat that they had offered for my guest's special birthday, but still rating 5/5 as it made for a very special afternoon :)
K R — Google review
Customer service was second to none, they were all very helpful and friendly, just like home from home. Food was of a very high standard and well presented. The initial thing that needs to be looked as is the communal areas (very dull and durgy) and the reception floor has Marine paint on it where as there is a beautiful parquet flooring underneath. There needs to be a bit more as they will be beautiful with the plans John has for them. Parking at the entrance should stop as it is detrimental to the presentation of the hotel. It was very good value for money.
Carol S — Google review
Sadly we have not stayed here yet but spent the last evening of August enjoying lovely cocktails under the vines and trailing geraniums outside overlooking the pool and beautiful gardens. It is such a wonderful establishment with quite a unique ambience, my relatives used to visit back in the 60s and 70s. We would especially like to mention Jade the mixologist who took good care of us and introduced the Wasabi amaretto sour to my husband, he had more than one! I really hope the hotel values Jade as it seems difficult to find good young staff on the island, Jade was professional, advised on the cocktail list and was happy to mix on request, really personable and she added to our evening and great memories in Ventnor.

The Hambrough Restaurant and Bar with Rooms is an elegant boutique hotel located in Ventnor, offering luxurious modern rooms with stunning sea views. The upscale restaurant, led by renowned chef patron Robert Thompson, serves sophisticated and sustainably sourced seasonal menus that attract gourmands from near and far. Situated above Ventnor Fishing Harbour on the Isle of Wight's southern tip, this celebrity treatment destination provides world-class service and easy access to Ventnor beach and the famous Botanic Gardens.
We had the most wonderful stay at The Hambrough. We had both rooms with the balcony’s and they were beautiful. So relaxing to sit out on in the morning and evening. The rooms were spacious, comfortable and well equipped. We had a delicious breakfast both days and felt welcomed and well looked after by all staff. I would love to stay again one day.
Victoria B — Google review
We only ate at the Hambrough and the food was excellent. My only negative comment was the actual dining area itself as it was lacking character. The atmosphere was slightly soulless, however the food was absolutely superb and made up for this entirely! The duck was cooked to absolute perfection and the service was without fault. The overall experience was absolutely fantastic and we will be returning again!
Lily G — Google review
I booked Studio room 1 for a single night. Large bed, 2/3 person sofa and then in the bay window 2 armchairs. Great bathroom with a large bath and a good sized shower cubicle. Sounds large? Yes it was and then there's the balcony with sea views over Ventnor harbour. None of this craning your neck to catch a glimpse of the sea, this was a proper face on sea view. Great choice of breakfasts at an extra charge. Helpful and friendly staff. So would I stay there again? Absolutely, 100%.
Alan M — Google review
Booked a stay at The Hambrough as part of a surprise weekend trip to the Isle of Wight for my Wife, Emily. At the time, Emily was my Girlfriend and I actually proposed at the hotel. 💍 Gio and the team were amazing in helping make the whole experience that extra bit special for us both. Thank you. 😊 Food, drink, accommodation and hospitality was perfect. The Hambrough comes very highly recommended. 😁 Having recently got married 2 years to the very day of our engagement, we'll definitely be back to celebrate our Anniversary in years to come. ☀️🥂👰‍♀🤵🥂☀️ Thanks again. 😎

5* IT IS NOT...... the hotel is very tired and looks nothing like the pictures you see on the website. The room was large, overlooking the sea which was great. However, the bathroom although large and bright had peeling paint, dirty limescale around the shower screen and bath tiles, the towel rail came away from the wall when I took a towel from there, the bath stand and radiator were rusty. My husband dropped something near to the sofa and had to look underneath, well looks like it had never been moved to be hoovered and cleaned underneath. The dining room was also very tired with peeling paint around the skirting. It is just a very tired hotel in need of a good refurb!!!! On a positive note, the staff were friendly and polite. The continental breakfast included was small and not buffet style, you had to order what you wanted off the menu and if you want hot breakfast, you have to pay extra. We ordered the fruit plate with yoghurt, it was 1 strawberry, 2 small wedges of water melon, 3 slivers of honeydew melon and 3 slivers of pineapple with a tablespoon of yoghurt!!!!! Now we have stayed in 3* hotels were continental buffet breakfast and hot breakasts are included in the price. So you can have your continental, then order anything from the hot food menu. The prices charged for this hotel room are too expensive for what you get. It is definitely not 5*. We have stayed in 3* hotels which had better facilities and breakfasts. At the moment, I would not class this hotel as even a 3*
Julie B — Google review
Our stay at the hotel was okay, but it fell short of the 5-star standard, especially for £150 per night. The room was quite small, and the mould around the windows was disappointing for a hotel at this price point. Breakfast wasn’t included—something we’d expect at this rate—and instead of a buffet, meals were served à la carte. Unfortunately, we later learned the hotel had lost their chef, which explained why the restaurant was closed. We were really looking forward to the dining experience, so this was a letdown. On a positive note, the staff were friendly and professional, which helped make our stay more pleasant. However, between the room condition, extra charges, and missing culinary experience, we don’t feel the hotel lives up to its rating or price.

Clean and comfortable hotel in a great location. Superb staff who go the extra step to ensure your needs are met. Great breakfast. Highly recommended

Haven Hall is a grand boutique hotel located on a clifftop, offering stunning sea views and a range of modern amenities. The sensitively restored Edwardian mansion features individually styled rooms adorned with chandeliers and named after literary figures. With an outdoor pool, grass tennis court, and made-to-order breakfasts featuring local produce, the hotel provides a luxurious experience for guests over the age of seven.
Recently, I had the good fortune to stay at Haven Hall, which is more of a home than a hotel. What an exquisite experience! The property is lovely with gardens and overhanging trees. There is a charming area near the swimming pool where one can sit and enjoy a stunning view of the sea. Very peaceful indeed. Indoors, all of the rooms are beautifully maintained with gorgeous flowers brightening the entrance to the drawing room. My bedroom was well appointed and quite comfortable with a fine view of the garden and sea. Breakfast was excellent with many choices. Even the choice of music was tasteful, which added to the atmosphere. Lunch and dinner are not offered, though there are many cafes and restaurants within walking distance. Best of all is the warm welcome by the delightful owners, David and Arielle, both of whom make one feel more like an old friend than a temporary guest. If you are looking for an exceptional stay in a enchanting Edwardian residence, Haven Hall is the place for you.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A stunning stay at Haven Hall Hotel – a true Isle of Wight gem! We had the most wonderful family stay at Haven Hall Hotel – everything about it is exceptional. The property is beautifully designed and furnished to the highest standard, with elegant interiors that feel both luxurious and welcoming. The landscaped gardens are breathtaking, with sweeping views over the ocean that made every morning feel special. The swimming pool and pool house, complete with an honesty bar, were perfect for relaxing, and the tennis courts added a fun activity for the whole family. The owner was warm, friendly, and professional – truly going above and beyond to make our stay perfect. We felt genuinely welcomed from start to finish. We also appreciated the off-road gated parking, and the self-serve continental breakfast offered a wide range of delicious options. The breakfast room opens onto a sea-view terrace, making it an unforgettable way to start the day. It’s also incredibly child-friendly, which made our family trip relaxing and enjoyable. A rare find that combines elegance, comfort, and genuine hospitality. Can’t recommend Haven Hall Hotel enough – we’re already planning our return!

Haven Hall was an amazing stop on our girls trip vacation. It should be called Heaven Hall! The grounds are gorgeous, the view is unmatched and the rooms are beautifully decorated and comfortable. We enjoyed the delicious breakfast and chatting with the owner, David, who made sure we had everything we needed. There were cozy rooms and a beautiful patio to grab an afternoon drink and enjoy the views. The location was close to town for a quick bite to eat. I would highly recommend and will hopefully be back soon!
Erin B — Google review
Our first visit to the Island, and we couldn't have chosen a better location. The Haven Hall experience is much more like being private guests at David and Arielle's beautiful home. Everything about the property, both inside and out, reflects the attention they have given to creating the exceptional style and standard. David, Arielle and their staff go the extra mile to provide a level of service that make their guests feel special.
Andrew O — Google review
An exceptional place to stay. The hotel is primarily a home to David & Arielle. The quiet sanctuary it provides is as nurturing as any hotel could possibly be. Inside, the house is beautifully furnished with great attention to detail and cleanliness. Outside, the award-winning gardens are spectacular with views to the sea. There is a pervading sense of calm and privacy at Haven Hall. It’s easy to see why several well known people choose it for a break away. If you’re reading this in summer please note that the air conditioning is very very good!
Annie T — Google review
We flew into the tiny Sandown airport on the Isle of Wight and spent a totally relaxed and stress free long birthday weekend for my wife’s birthday at the beginning of May staying with the charming and attentive David and Arielle at their boutique Haven Hall hotel just outside Shanklin. The beautiful decor and wonderful views complimented the wonderfully spacious rooms. We took full advantage of the hotel’s situation on the coastal pathway and that it is ideally situated for sightseeing the many areas of interest all around the Island. Breakfast on the terrace in May was perhaps a bonus this year but the views from the extensive grounds were consistently breathtaking. Although no evening meals were available David was particularly helpful with his guidance about dining and as a result we had some superb meals. A return visit is a certainty!
Richard S — Google review
We were fortunate to discover Haven Hall after an underwhelming stay elsewhere on the Isle of Wight during the music festival—and what a difference it made. From the moment we arrived, it felt less like checking into a hotel and more like being welcomed into the private coastal estate of a very dear (and wealthy) friend. Located on the edge of a cliff overlooking the sea, Haven Hall is more akin to a Newport, Rhode Island (USA) mansion than a traditional hotel. The décor, the gardens, the setting—all evoke timeless elegance with abundant English charm. What truly sets Haven Hall apart, though, is the unmatched hospitality. Owners David and Arielle are gracious and warm, making you feel instantly at home. The surrounding village is walkable and enchanting, adding to the dreamlike quality of our stay. Haven Hall is worth every pound (or penny) we paid, and then some. We will cherish this experience as one of our most memorable stays anywhere. Ally, Jim & Family

A lovely place, quiet with beautiful surroundings. We were met at the door by David who took the time to show us around his lovely property. Our room was lovely, clean and peaceful, everything had been thought of. Staff were friendly & attentive. We would highly recommend Haven Hall as a place to stay while on the Isle of Wight.

Guests can also opt for extra privacy by staying in the detached Myrtle Cottage, a beautifully renovated fisherman's residence. The hotel's locavore restaurant has received a Michelin Bib Gourmand and offers award-winning food.
The food is delicious! Had the best super food salad ever... Blueberries! Some kind of incredible seaweed or kale, salted and wilted and lovely! The best cooked tofu I've ever had and I'm vegan, I eat tofu every day! Beautifully presented, really reasonably priced, scrumptious. Returning the next day because we want to eat it again!!

The staff were very helpful and welcoming. Our room was clean and spacious. And the breakfast options available were very nice indeed. The staff were extremely accommodating. Would definitely recommend and would return for another visit

We went for Sunday lunch Table booked for 13.45 pm in the bar. The barmaid was great, very professional. The starters were delicious. Long wait for the main course and they forgot our vegetables which we had to chase up. By the time they arrived the veg and the meal was cold. Long wait for dessert which we had to chase up. The dessert was very nice albeit a small portion. A 10% service charge was added to our bill. This was allegiance voluntary but was already on the bill and we felt pressurised to pay it. We are local but will not be going back.

We did a flye and lunch deal with hovercraft and had a lovely lunch here the chicken and leek and mushroom pie was absolutely gorgeous, but we Just wanted to give a positive feedback to the young lad with the blonde hair who was working in the restaurant yesterday (Saturday afternoon) firstly I would like to say all staff we meet were friendly and helpful and polite but from the time this young lad greeted us till we left he was so polite and just stood out, what a great work ethics from such a young person and thank you for making us feel so at ease when we came into the restaurant, keep up your great work and you will go far, good luck for your future please could you pass this on to him 😊

I only ate here and the food was decent. My main concern was the chef that left the toilet cubicle and didn’t wash his hands. Hopefully he did so in the kitchen and I gave him the benefit of the doubt. Food was good but I couldn’t get the handwashing completely from my mind, won’t going back

The George Hotel, located in the bustling harbor town of Yarmouth on the Isle of Wight, is a 17th-century townhouse with individually designed stylish rooms. The upscale British restaurant and European brasserie offer a sophisticated dining experience. The hotel's history dates back to when it was home to Sir Robert Holmes, an Island Governor who entertained King Charles II. With its spectacular waterside location and glorious views of the Solent, The George Hotel exudes sophistication.
Lovely sea view from the garden. Makes you feel like your abroad. But this is the Isle of white and one of them gems you need to experience with lovely sea views, welcoming staff and a good waiter service. The staff are very polite and attentive to your needs. You won't find many places like this with great views and great service this part of the country. Will definitely be returning. And those reviews of expensive it's not expensive for this location. It actually normal price. Thank you The George

We stayed one night as a family at the George Hotel and its a wonderful experience. Yarmouth is such a charming place and this hotel suits it. It's a calm and quiet place with great waterfront views and sunsets. Staff here is hot and cold.. I guess all tourist places are like that.. The restaurant here is very nice with good light menu and drinks are fantastic. It was great to experience this place as we enjoyed couple days in Yarmouth, but for a family of 5 it was quite pricey.
Topher E — Google review
What a lovely surprise. We weren’t expecting such a great stay. The staff were wonderful, from reception to housekeeping. The shower power was insane (great!) and the food was also very good, both breakfast and evening meal. We had 3 rooms and all loved our time here. Also Yarmouth was really quaint! Ours was one of 3 rooms allowing dogs - the room was a little tired but bed was comfy and all very clean, so not really an issue.
Adam B — Google review
A disappointing experience. Such a shame as it promised so much upon arrival. Fabulous garden in a great location. The few staff that were serving were v helpful but poor things could definitely not service the needs of all the covers to the expected standard. If you are serving a £45 steak it should be first class, alas it was good but not great. Drinks and starters took a time to arrive, mains even longer. Subsequent drinks failed to appear. And to top it all off the lady on reception couldn’t engage to help us order a cab. Very average over all.
Tort A — Google review
First time staying at The George. First of all THE STAFF from reception, restaurant, bar are amazing! Friendly and attentive and always with a smile. Many breakfast options, cold and hot. And excellent food over dinner. The only improvements that we suggest to do is with a room. We booked top floor room facing the mainland, the views STUNNING. However only one little window that you can open, the room is hot. It seemed that it was much cooler anywhere else but the room. There was a fan but it didn’t help much. Plumbing issue with drains not coping fast enough with draining water out. TV needs an update. With these improvements and suggestion. It would make our stay much more enjoyable!
Egis P — Google review
Restaurant review only as we were not staying at the hotel. We had an incredible meal on Saturday night (9th August). Probably the best main course (shared lamb) in decades and beautiful deserts all served by the delightful Nina.
Simon K — Google review
Fantastic location, great members of staff, we did enjoy the food, the price particularly the starters a little high and the crab pasta dish was lacking slightly in flavour however the lemon sole was delicious, have to add sides at extra cost which is a shame as £37 for fish alone with no accompaniment is disappointing maybe potatoes with it then add your own veg but the quality was good. It's tough In hospitality we understand the issues but just a couple of things could change. The location made up for all of it we had a lovely day hosting a business party and staff were friendly.
Max R — Google review
Amazing lunch with my sister and mum. Food was 5 star Service and cocktails were amazing, and loved the fact they were willing to make any cocktail. U will not get better seafood, lobster was sensational. Tim and Zac were so attentive, loved it. Thank you all x

Villa Rothsay Hotel is a charming Victorian property located in Cowes, Isle of Wight, offering period rooms with some overlooking the sea. The hotel embodies the seafaring traditions of Cowes, with ties to sailing history and a suite named after former Prime Minister Edward Heath's yachts. Its location above the water provides stunning views of the Solent and easy access to Cowes and Victoria's Island Trail.
Such a beautiful place, amazing staff, comfortable room and delicious breakfast! The view from the rooms is incredible. On top of that, Margaret is an absolute legend, and goes above and beyond to make her guests feel welcome and amazingly taken care of. Just a brilliant stay and highly recommended. I’ll be coming back for sure!

The room was very comfortable and was kept lovely and clean throughout. Well done and keep up the excellent work.

I stayed at the Villa Rothsay for a business trip with some colleagues for one night. We had a fantastic stay with the team and Margret took great care of us. Myself and my colleagues loved the charm of the hotel and were really impressed with the quality of service and attention to detail. We had a great buffet lunch before heading out in the afternoon and really nice breakfast the next day. Very clean rooms with large comfortable beds and everything you could need for an overnight stay. Would highly recommend for individuals, couples and groups!

A chance find for this exquisite hotel with fab views over the Solent. The service was outstanding. A missing button on a pair of trousers led me to ask for a needle and thread and instead I got a ‘would you like me to fix them for you?’ from the landlady. Outstanding service and buttons that won’t fall off again - thank you. Breakfast was also 1st class 👏🏻🥳

Staff were very friendly and worked hard to make you feel like a special guest. Food was exquisite, we experienced breakfast, evening meal and on the 2nd day we had an amazing cream tea. Both my husband and I enjoyed our stay and wished our stay could be longer. We hope to stay again in the not too distant future.

My Brother and Sister and I held a celebration event this summer at Albert Cottage. The gorgeous, historic setting really ‘wowed’ our 50 guests. We had the restaurant, the bar and the outside courtyard to ourselves all afternoon; everything was perfect. Chris, the manager, could not have been more professional and helpful. His advice & guidance was spot-on, we were in no doubt after meeting him that we’d come to the right venue. The great-quality food was lovely and all the staff were very pleasant and accommodating. The cost was good value, with no surprises in the bill. Everyone enjoyed the memorable day. Outstanding, Outstanding. Many thanks, Chris and team!

Literally 3 min drive from the ferry & so easy to find. Lots of parking space. The building itself is beautiful but we couldn't believe our eyes when we entered our room. Fabulous bathroom, short corridor then enormous room with canopied bed & sympathetically decorated. Lovely view over the garden. Breakfast was brilliant - lots of options & staff very pleasant. The corridor down to the bar very interesting & the bar area beautifully decorated. All in all a brilliant 2-night stay. Only complaint was a very hard & lifeless mattress!

My wife and myself had the pleasure of staying in this lovely Hotel last week. This is a hidden Gem, and there is a wonderful ambience that surrounds you from the moment you arrive. This coupled with great food and a very professional and friendly staff set it apart from other Hotels. Having found it, we will look forward to staying again in the future. Oh, and the room great.

Came here because my late father used to always come here. He used to tell me the food was excellent and it was a great place to relax and recharge.... And he wasn't wrong! The food was superb, I recommend you check out the specials as the are positively delicious!! I had Lamb with mash and veg and it was absolutely fantastic! The staff are so so lovely! If I come back to the isle I absolutely will be coming back!! Thank you for making it so wonderful to all the people who worked when I ate here!

What an absolute gem! Great venue with lots of wooden beams and loads of space to eat / drink. The staff were very welcoming and couldn’t do enough for us. The menu was filled with hearty choices but don’t miss the special board. You won’t be disappointed. Last night was a full rack of ribs and tonight was the chair style pork medallions. First class taste and good portion sizes. From order to food on table….10 mins. As this is also a hotel, it’s more than anyone could need. Totally worth the journey to the island from Hampshire.

We had a really nice stay. We arrived late afternoon Thursday, the place was pretty quiet, but within a couple of hours it was quite busy in the bar/restaurant. Plenty of seating though, the place is quite large. We had a premium room, which was spacious with a desk, a table, 2 seater sofa wardrobe and chest of drawers. King-size bed, with bedside tables both sides. The bed and sofa both faced the large window, with views of the sea and in the distance the cliffs and needles. The shower in a hotel room is often what I book them for, in this case the shower was great but not quite at the pressure is was hoping for, it was good but not amazing. The food in the bar is very good, over the four nights we've sampled quite a few items for both lunch and dinner, as well as the breakfast every morning, we've been very happy with both cost and quality. The staff have been superb, friendly but not intrusive, helpful but not hovering over us. I've had a couple of "rando requests", for example asking for a pint of milk for my protein shake, nothing has been too much, they've been great. I'd really recommend the place, we will be coming back with our dogs, the clifftop walk opposite the hotel is perfect for them.

Stopped here for lunch with our dog on our way back to Freshwater. Ordered the Ploughman's Sharer for two. Oh my! What a brilliant lunch! More than enough for two with 2 cheeses, ham, pate, pork pie plus salad and various pickles. The bread was crusty outer but soft and fluffy inside. Fantastic. Plus a large garden to enjoy. What could be better

Absolutely stunning. My mum and I decided we'd have a pop in for our dinner this afternoon, as we hadnt been for years, and it was the best decision. The scenery looking over chale was stunning, the inside of the pub felt warm and welcoming, the staff were very polite and friendly not only to us, but to our two huskeys. We both had The Winter combo, and were apparently the first to order it. I am honoured to be one of the first people to try it, and it was honestly the most amazing meal I have ever tasted. The vegetables were spot on, the pork belly melted in your mouth and has such beautiful flavour, the yorkshire pudding and beef was devine. Well worth the value of only £23 for such a massive meal. I think he was the manager called Alex, he was very humble ans polite to us both. Will 100% be going again when we come back to The Island, and will recommend to everyone. Well done staff and my highest compliments to the chef.

We did not stay here but rather had a meal. Service and food were both lovely. Reasonably priced and very good sized and tasty portions. The children's menu was brilliant, not just the usual four items consisting of nuggets, sausage, pasta and burger. Will definitely revisit the next time we are in the area.

We stayed here for a 10 night Holiday on the Isle of Wight. The location is brilliantly positioned to reach destinations on any coastline on the island within 30 mins on good traffic days. We enjoyed many sunsets sitting in the garden looking over the sea at the Needles. The staff are excellent especially Amy, Alex and Debbie, they made us fell very welcome and always had a smile on their faces even when it was really busy. Mr mouse aka Tony is a great host for the evening meals. All the food portions are generous and of a good quality particularly the specials which change every few days (unless they sell out!). Breakfast is great with cereal and pastries followed by hot food options or a Granola bowl, supplied with bottomless tea and coffee. The room we had was spacious and cleaned each day with towels provided on request. We look forward to returning when we go back to the Island. There are two electric chargers at the location but only one was working during my stay which provided AC charging at up to 22kW if your car can take it. It was convenient for a couple of top-ups while traveling round the Island making it less stressful to find a charger. Download the Monta app before travelling and it'll show up at the Inn. Thank you everyone at the Wight Mouse for making our Summer Holiday fantastic

The hotel features a stylish brasserie serving breakfast, lunch, dinner, and a variety of afternoon teas. Additionally, it has a spa with an indoor heated pool for guests to relax and enjoy various treatments such as massages.
Thank you to the events team for the care, compassion and professionalism that you showed to us as a family when we held my son's funeral and wake at the hotel. Nothing was too much trouble and you made a difficult day so much easier. The room was turned round very quickly so that people were able to be seated by the time we returned from fern hill and the food was amazing. Thank you again. The Everett family

Went for spa and afternoon tea for my birthday today. I had the most wonderful experience. The spa was really clean and relaxing. It has thermal spa, jacuzzi, pool, steam and sauna rooms. I had a massage which was fabulous. I then had afternoon tea in the brassiere. Warm, inviting and friendly staff greeted me. My afternoon tea was delicious! Warm scones baked on site. They even made me a happy birthday sign on a plate. Thank you! I definitely will be going again and I highly recommend it!

We had our wedding at Lakeside on 6th June 2025 and it was a beautiful day! We stayed in the Wootton Suite the night before and it is a gorgeous room with amazing rooms, this also got us spa access which was perfect! The food was absolutely fantastic and very good portion size too! We want to thank Jess so so much for how brilliant she has been through the whole wedding experience, I first got in contact with her in 2023 and she has been great at communicating and answering every question I had. Jess put me at ease with how personable she was and made sure the wedding day was everything we wanted and more, keeping us both stress free! We finally want to thank Marcus, the barman, he was brilliant and energetic, all the guests thought you were wonderful! Thank you for keeping the atmosphere going and making the night memorable. All in all, this is a perfect wedding venue and Jess is incredible. Thank you

The Hotel itself exceeded my expectations in terms of cleanliness and presentation. Normally when I stay away from home, at accommodations, it’s not always 100% clean and well presented, but Lakeside was spotless, very well maintained and the Staff were very friendly and accommodating. Check in was very quick and easy, along with accessing the Spa. The Room was huge, beds comfy and plenty provided for your stay. Shampoo, Body Wash, Tea, Coffee, Hot Chocolate, Biscuits, Smart TV with Netflix etc. The views are beautiful, and the Location is very quiet, where it’s off the Road. There were a few cons, The Spa Pool was really cold and not filled up enough, so we only managed 45 minutes, before my Ffiend was too cold to continue using the Spa, so I feel we unfortunately did not get our moneys worth in terms of the Spa side. The Shower outside (by the Jacuzzi) was also freezing cold. The Breakfast was below average, but filled us up. Saying that, the Apple Juice and Cappuccino were lovely. I Did feel like we were looked down upon a little by the Staff running the Breakfast side, which made me a bit uncomfortable. I would return again, but the hot Breakfast needs to be improved, along with the temperature of the Pool. Overall, we enjoyed our stay.

First time visiting IOW and wanted to treat hubby and myself to a spa experience. Wasn't really impressed as the one of the outdoor steam room wasn't on and the same with the hot tub. It wasn't until another regular member text the staff did they turn this on. No staff made rounds to check if everything was OK. To top it off I was eaten alive by mosquitos while I was sat in the hot tub without any bubbles - waiting for it to come on as the sign said 15mins. Really disappointing.

The Union Inn is a charming traditional pub with six cozy rooms, offering a convenient base for those visiting Cowes for sailing. Located within walking distance of the yacht clubs and the Marina, it's popular during regatta season. The inn features individually styled en-suite rooms that are more contemporary than the nautical-themed pub downstairs. With its characterful atmosphere and proximity to Cowes seafront, this family-run establishment appeals to yachting enthusiasts, holidaymakers, and locals alike.
Lovely pub with very atmospheric and tasteful decor. The open fire is lovely in the winter months and the paintings really make you feel like you're in a proper English pub. The owner is great fun and the bar staff are attentive. Great place to stop for a drink and or a meal in Cowes!!

If I could give no stars I would. Waited nearly 1hr for food. Two bowls of soup and a sandwich came out first. The soup was cold, followed by the Sea Bass which was also cold. The vegetables I don't think were even heated. When we sent it all back we could hear the chef in the kitchen throwing stuff about. The bar lady was very apologetic. They forgot one meal and said we hadn't paid for it. I showed the receipt, it appeared we had. Then the original three meals came back out followed by a steak pie. About 10mins later the missing baguette appeared so hot I could bearly pick it up. We were offered free drinks but wanted to leave. This is my first ever bad review. Nice pub but I wouldn't eat there.

Visited this pub several times during our holiday, and for the most part was excellent. Food was great, sunday lunch was superb. But then we stumbled upon quiz night. Or dear. I have always rated The Union Inn and promoted the roast dinner, breakfast and general ambience but today I was extremely disappointed. Myself and my visiting family went for lunch, appreciate Cowes week but the area where we sat was the access to the toilet and a storage area for barrels and other paraphernalia completely inaccessible or to allow a pleasant dining experience. We were informed a wait of 20-30 minutes, we waited for over an hour for extremely poor overpriced food delivered, inedible, over cooked, badly presented and the starter served to one of us resulted in diarrhea within 30 minutes of consumption. The Fishbourne is an elegant pub with five bright and airy rooms, offering a complimentary breakfast for guests. Situated in the village of Fishbourne, it's conveniently located near the Wightlink Ferry Terminal, making it a perfect choice for travelers arriving by ferry. The pub dates back to the 1900s and boasts beautiful sea views and a selection of excellent ales and wines.
Found this lovely pub when we arrived too early for the ferry. We asked if we could come in with our gorgeous doggy. The team welcomed us. It was very busy, yet everyone was nice and calm. We found a lovely cosy corner, there were some board games for the children which was a godsend. Great coffee, reasonably priced and wonderful service with a smile and a kind word. The toilets (female) are spotless, with baby changing facilities and an emergency nappy/toiletries if needed. Bravo! I would definitely look at staying here on my next visit to the Isle of Wight. The food looked amazing, we didn't have time to eat unfortunately.

We stayed 5 nights at this lovely inn in July and then moved onto East Sussex, Kent, Suffolk and Yorkshire - a 5-week trip in total from Perth, Western Australia. Of all the fine pub meals we enjoyed on our holiday the absolute standout dinner was the Fishbourne Inn’s Sunday Nut Roast with all the trimmings! So delicious, just had to share this 😋

I stayed at this guest house for 2 nights, staff polite and friendly. The room I was in was 505 it was ok but I don't think it was suitable for me as I'm 6ft 6ins, I did get a lovely nights sleep. The breakfast was the best I've had in ages cooked to perfection, it reminded me of my mum's cooked breakfast. All in all a lovely place to stay. If I'm ever on the Isle of Wight I'll be staying here again, but maybe not in room 505. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Regards P.

Nice pub but 45 minute wait for food and not sure why as so many people already had theirs. The lady at the bar said they had 30 breakfasts before us to send out but we’d counted 6 before ours came! Also failed to tell us the correct place to sit with our dog so we got moved, after the waitress had already come up to us once to give us cutlery - the sign about dogs being in the bar was on the floor outside. We found one of the waitresses quite rude and abrupt. Also don’t know if they are aware but they have two different versions of their early breakfast menu out with differing descriptions

My partner and I had 5 marvellous days at this perfectly situated Inn, it's only 1 minute from the Portsmouth to Ryde ferry. The staff, especially Dave, and Danielle were very welcoming and attentive to all our needs. Even going to the trouble of sending an article I had left to us within a couple of days. This was our first time on the island and needed more time to see all the sites, so when we return The Fishbourne Inn will be our first stop. We'll certainly tell all our friends.

This pub was very disappointing! On arrival barmaid very unfriendly. no eye contact , no welcome. Beer was flat and warm Soup was watered down and bland . The sandwich was fabulous and the best chips! Toilet was blocked and no paper! Reported it but not sure it was of any concern to the barmaid . On departure, no eye contact no farewell just stood there with arms crossed! ! Beautiful pub but the whole experience was very disappointing!

As islander I feel cheated,We took friends there today prior to their ferry trip home. The ploughmans meal , lunch , was 2 small slices of bread, 2 small slices ham and one of cheese accompanied by a quantity of salad and pickles. The sandwiches our friend had were delicious she said. As we left there was no goodbye from the bar, even though a barman was in full view. Sadly feel people not important, just financial bottoms on chairs. We have not eaten meals there in Winter perhaps the ambience improves then . I hope so.

Luccombe Hall Hotel is a newly refurbished country house hotel located on a stunning cliff-top above Shanklin, Isle of Wight. Originally built in 1870, the family-run property offers modern double and family rooms with breathtaking views and free Wi-Fi. Surrounded by 4 acres of landscaped gardens, the hotel provides a relaxing ambiance away from everyday hustle and bustle.
Stayed 1 night at the beginning of January. Nice and quiet. Staff were friendly and attentive. Pool was nice and well thought out but changing facilities let it down a bit. The 80's retro game room was fun and was a nice gimmick for the adults staying. Food was delicious but if anything far too fast. Had our evening meal on the Saturday and had starter and main back to back, having finished eating within about 20-30 minutes. We'd rather have a nice relaxed meal ourselves. Room was lovely and can't fault it. Had a sea view room. Nice that you're able to use hotel facilities before and after check in/ check out, definitely a bonus. Grounds looked lovely, shame the weather wasn't on our side.

This is the most amazing hotel I’ve ever been to! The staff were all absolutely incredible and they were so kind and helpful. The food was amazing and the puddings were so good. They have an indoor and outdoor pool, a games room, a lovely outdoor area which includes a giant chess and droughts board and the view of the sea. They had live music one of the nights we were there which was such a lovely addition. They are also dog friendly and are so kind to the dogs. The bunk beds in the 4 people bedrooms were so cute! The children loved sleeping in them and they were so comfy. All rooms have a little fridge and they put milk and biscuits in it. Such a wonderful hotel. I will definitely be coming back here really soon and I definitely recommend! 💙💛💜

I would class this as a traditional rather than boutique style hotel with lovely gardens that have plenty of seating options. There’s a good sized outdoor pool which is popular with children in the school holidays. The pool area is well kept with good quality loungers. For those with children there’s plenty to keep them occupied. We had a sea view and balcony which also overlooks the gardens and was splendid. If you don’t make use of the view, you might think the room is a bit expensive. Having said that, the bed was very comfortable, the room was clean, well decorated and a reasonable size. In room facilities are in line with a 3 star hotel so if you are used to 4 star you will notice the difference in these, but the view more than compensates. Food was a mixed bag. I had fish which was good and the accompanying potatoes were lovely and crisp but all the veg was overcooked and tasteless. The sausages wrapped in bacon didn’t hit the mark and for our taste could do with being more well done. Equally, the gravy lacked something. I note that others say the menu changes regularly which is good if you are staying for a few days and want to eat on site, but we ate out so our one experience may not be representative. The dining area and bar seem more functional than atmospheric. The staff are friendly and willing to have a chat if you want to. In summary, the price is at the higher end for a hotel of this type but the balcony, views and garden are the reason why.

Very nice stay. Staff were friendly and food was great! Pools all nice and heated. Our room was the ground floor terrace. Nice outdoor area. We also had a hot tub, sunbeds and a table & chairs. Gate out onto the outdoor pool! The toiletries in the room were shampoo, conditioner, body wash, hand soap and body lotion. Very nice quality. Hairdryer and mini fridge in room. Facilities were great! Views from the garden were amazing! For families they have a games room which my little one loved. Would highly recommend this hotel!

We stayed in the Premier room, with Sea view balcony and separate lounge, this was the perfect holiday 5 day break for us, a perfect setting and just a i imagined it would be, a very good breakfast and all the staff were helpful and friendly, the only one point that would have been nice and helpful would have been if we could have had access to our room earlier? I can understand if the hotel is really busy not allowing guests into their rooms until 3pm, however ever the hotel was very quiet when we were there ( 13/04/25 -18/04/25 ) we have stayed at many Hotels and have really appreciated it when early access has been allowed? To us, it just seemed to be a hard and fast rule, and with consideration would have been easierly possibly, and always very much appreciated by us when this has been possible in particular shows us how accommodating the Hotel is when going to the trouble of allowing this when possible? How ever all in all this is a great place to stay.

Lovely hotel. Room with sea view a little small but comfortable. I do appreciate the fact they don't have children under ten here! Very nice, helpful staff. I always stay at the Clifton when I come to the island.

Beautiful little garden and view, but overpriced for a rather small and dated room with a slightly shabby balcony. Somewhat galling on top of this to be charged for plugging in e-bikes.

Clifton was such a delightful old world hotel/Inn that I wish we had been staying for longer than 1 night on the Isle of Wight. We stayed mid week in June and it was very quiet. It’s in a perfect location in the cliff with an east walk down to the beach. We had a 2nd floor Bay View room and had a lovely view. Room was small but very well turned out. The main floor lounge and bar area are very comfortable and the patio/out door garden are was perfect for a warm late spring day. Also, I very much appreciate their no children under 10/ no Pet policy. Breakfast was delicious

It was a lovely b&b, the room was spacious and clean. It was also nice to have a walk-in shower as a lot of b&b's have showers over the bath. Unfortunately we should have looked into it more prior to booking/arrival as there is no lift, and our room was on the top floor, up 45 stairs, which as I have mobility issues was a concern. This aside if you can do stairs this is a great place to stay - it was really quite and we did have a sea view although could not see much of the sea. Breakfast was lovely although this does not start until 8.00am! Breakfast is cooked to order and we did not have to wait long for this, although it did not appear that the b&b wasn't full when we stayed. The staff were efficient and polite.

Just got back from an absolutely wonderful stay at the Clifton with my mum. The rooms were immaculate with complimentary tea, coffee, hot chocolate, biscuits and even a coffee maker. The view out to sea from the balcony room is amazing. Breakfast was lovely with a good selection of fruit and cereals as well as cooked breakfasts. As it was the Easter holidays, I was expecting there to be some children, but the hotel is geared up for adults and has such a calm and peaceful atmosphere. The staff were so friendly and chatty. What I didn't realise before we arrived was that this was actually the same hotel I stayed in 20 years ago on a primary school trip! Safe to say the current owners have updated the hotel a lot since then and their days of hosting schools are long gone!

This should be a 5-star hotel! I booked Twin Deluxe and Bay view room for my family members. Everything was taken care of and the owners really thought of everything the guests would need. The rooms were very clean and beautifully decorated with clean welcoming bathrooms. The location is superb - it is just a few minutes walk from Shanklin Chine. This would definitely my place to stay when I travel to Isle of Wight again.

Nestled in the charming town of Shanklin, The Havelock is a chic guesthouse that beautifully marries 19th-century elegance with modern comforts. Originally a gentleman's residence, this stylish hotel features 22 immaculate guest rooms and family suites, many boasting stunning views of the English Channel. Guests can enjoy bright and spacious accommodations equipped with en-suite bathrooms and some even have balconies to soak up the refreshing sea breeze.
We have just had a wonderful 4 night stay in one of the balcony rooms. The hotel is owned by Paul and Vicky (and Jess!) who are relaxed, welcoming and friendly. The hotel itself is tastefully modern and spotlessly clean with a well stocked bar and great breakfast choice. The room was spacious and light with a huge new shower - something we miss at home! There is plenty of parking and the beach is a 10 minute walk away where you can get fish and chips, doughnuts or play crazy golf but the hill is pretty steep! We enjoyed lots of places to visit including Butterfly world, Carisbrooke Castle, Osborne House, The Needles, Godshill Model Village and the beach at Ventnor. We ate out at the Black Cat Thai in Shanklin but our best meal of the week was The Folly Inn at Cowes. Definitely worth going there! Our only very small negative was the lovely large TV in the room had trouble with Catch up and it kept buffering but that's certainly not enough to stop you visiting this lovely hotel. Thanks Guys. We will be back. Xx

This was our first visit to the Havelock hotel, and by no means our last. The Hotel was Spotless throughout! The rooms were beautifully laid out, nice and bright and modern and spacious. The communal areas were very comfortable and welcoming. Unfortunately we never got to try out the pool but it looked fantastic! The breakfast and facilities were top class and was excellent valuefor money , with all locally sourced produce. It also has a lovely well stocked cosy little bar to enjoy a drink & chat. All the staff were very friendly and welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. Paul & Vicky we absolutely fantastic hosts! We felt like we had known them for years, they both made us feel so very welcome. We are already planning our return visit for next year or maybe sooner, and will definitely be referring to friends and family. Thank you both so much for making our stay so special. All the best to you all. Alan & Liza x

Our 3rd consecutive year staying at the Havelock, Paul, Vicky and their team are warm friendly and welcoming, absolutely nothing is too much trouble for them, the Hotel is spotlessly clean top to bottom and breakfast choice and presentation is superb, the hotel has safe parking and is positioned only a few minutes walk to the sea front, old village and Regent Street. Paul and Vicky are doing a fantastic job since taking over continuously improving year on year, we have booked for summer 2025 already and very much looking forward to see what else they will have done, although it is hard to improve on the very high standard that it already is! Great couple, great job!

Paul & Vicky were welcoming and a lovely couple, nothing was too much trouble. The room was well laid out and had just had the bathroom refurbed, which had a nice walk-in shower. There was plenty of space in the room and had a lovely balcony you could relax on and enjoy the sea-view. Breakfast was really nice, with a full English utilising local produce (other choices were available). All in all, a nice relaxing stay, Thank you.

Paul and Vicky are great hosts, their three daughters too are were very welcoming. Nothing was too much trouble. Rooms are clean, well planned out with ample space including hairdryer. Breakfast was delicious, lots of choices, the breakdast staff were welcoming and friendly. The outdoor swimming pool at the back is private, with sunloungers and chairs, the pool has a shallow end with steps down and the pool gradually goes to a 2m depth, a decent suntrap. Car parking is free, there is a carpark at the front and one around the back with walkway side access to the main entrance. The views from the front are great, on the first floor and second floor are seaview. A lovely bar/lounge at the front with front patio over the well cared for garden lawns looked after by Malcolm the mower. The hotel is situated in a quiet suburb 10 minutes walk from the sea front, and 10 minutes walk to the older town where there are choices of pubs, restaurants and bars to eat in. We've had a lovely time, we were a group of 6, grand parents, parents and a 8 year old. Thank you for a lovely stay.

What a beautiful clean, friendly family orientated hotel. Just cannot thank Paul and Vicki enough for their wonderful hospitality. Absolutely nothing was too much trouble. The rooms are superb and the breakfast is fantastic. Their children are adorable making it such a pleasant holiday. Cant wait for our next visit. Such a laugh every night in the bar with other guests who made it seem like we had known them forever. There is not a score i could give the hotel that would be good enough. It is such a beautiful place that guests return year after year which says it all. Facilities in the rooms are second to none. Even down to the perfect selection of tea, coffee, hot chocolate and biscuits. So much storage space and great size rooms with a beautiful deep wardrobe. Everything high spec.

Nestled in the picturesque Totland Bay on the Isle of Wight, Sentry Mead is a charming mock-Tudor bed-and-breakfast that perfectly blends traditional elegance with modern comforts. This delightful Victorian villa boasts classic rooms adorned with tasteful furnishings and offers stunning views for guests to enjoy.
From the moment we arrived at the Sentry Mead Hotel, everything was absolutely flawless. We felt right at home with a warm welcome from the owners, who gave us a tour before showing us to our room. The attention to detail was clear from the start – we found cake, chocolates, luxurious toiletries, slippers, a cozy robe, and even treats and “dog wine” waiting for our dog! Our room was pure luxury, with every element perfectly curated for a relaxing, stress-free stay. The bed, bedding, and curtains were all of exceptional quality, creating a tranquil and inviting space that we didn’t want to leave. We had a beautiful sea view, which made for a stunning sunset. The owners even upgraded us to give our dog more room, providing a dog bed, blanket, and even making him his own sausage for breakfast! There were dog treats, towels, and water readily available near the hotel entrance, making it truly pet-friendly in the best way. The room also had an espresso machine, Elemis products, and sleep spray – all wonderful touches that showed how much thought had gone into every aspect of the stay. The breakfast was fantastic, with delicious hot food and service that couldn’t be faulted. The owners went out of their way to provide local guides, dinner recommendations, and info on the area, which made exploring so much easier and added to the overall experience. If I could move in, I would! This is a gem of a hotel, run by genuinely kind and attentive owners who go above and beyond to make every guest feel special. I’d recommend Sentry Mead in a heartbeat – it’s truly perfect. (And apologies for eating all the chocolates in the sweetie bowl – couldn’t resist! 😆) See you again soon!!

Me and my fiance visited the island for a one night stay (22/03/25) from the moment we parked up we were given the warmest of welcomes. Andy and Carole who have just taken over were super helpful, kind and went above and beyond to ensure a comfortable stay. The rooms were beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean!! The little touches i.e robes, slippers, toiletries (to name a few!) gave it a really personal touch, a home from home. The breakfast was also delicious and Bridget, also super helpful and lovely, made sure we had everything we needed. We often visit the island and will definitely be returning to Sentry Mead next time we're over. A huge thank you for making our visit so lovely! 😊

We stayed here at the weekend for one night on Saturday… our room was absolutely gorgeous, with the most beautiful view of the bay from the bedroom windows. Our room was called Totland. The bed was so comfortable, the breakfast was delicious and you are only moments away from the beach too! Carole and Andrew our hosts were absolutely lovely, so welcoming and very friendly. I’d highly recommend anyone to stay here and we’ll be returning soon and definitely staying for longer.

Overall a lovely stay, the whole hotel has been recently refurbished and it shows. Our room was comfy and clean, the pillow menu was a great additional touch. Location and hotel was quiet and we were fortunate to dine at one of the local restaurants along the promenade. The hotel is also close to the Needles and affiliated attractions. I'd recommend this hotel.

[Migrating review from old account. Visited 2021] Lovely stay in an amazing room at the Sentry Mead Hotel! The staff were super attentitive, the room enormous, the bed comfortable and the breakfaster brilliant! Bathroom was very spacious too, with a nice bath. This side of the island is much quieter than the eastern coast, but even so we were very well connected by bus. The bus comes ~3mins walk from the hotel every 30mins or so up and down the coast. The Needles Breezer even stops there too. So it was good for accessibility. Close to Totland Bay beach too, with some nice walks around. The owners are very happy for you to order/bring back a takeaway and eat it in their dining room, or even your own room. They provide cutlery, glasses and condiments for this in the dining room, which I thought was very generous. The dining room looks out over their lovely garden. Everything was all perfectly clean. We really did have an amazing time. I don't expect that we'll go back to West Isle of Wight, but if we do I'm sure we'd stay here again!

So many things to love about this place. Andrew, Cas are incredible hosts and managers, Brigitte and Tess keep the ship in tight working order! What a brilliant team 😍. The attention to detail paid to everything shows so much care. The Elemis pillow spray, little choccies, lovely tea tray, extra cold water, extra coffee, extra milk, walk around on check to understand where everything is, brekkie timings etc. The toiletries … dressing down… everything also brilliant quality . Very good breakfast, with everything you could want, fresh orange juice, choices of types of coffee, continental and hot food. Honesty bar - i love this (I would suggest more good white wine by the glass available though but that’s just me). Decor and cleanliness - simply stunning and everything if SO clean. Including the beautiful common areas. The only reason I’d say 4 for my room (Brook), is that It was quite noisy at night, late check ins, noisy doors. BUT It’s an old building and it was the Isle of Wight festival week. All in all one of the best places I’ve stayed, can’t wait to go back.

Nestled on the picturesque Tapnell Farm, Tom's Eco Lodge is a delightful retreat for those seeking an eco-friendly escape on the Isle of Wight. This charming destination offers a variety of unique accommodations, including safari tents that can host up to eight guests, cozy pods for couples, and rustic log cabins. Each option ensures comfort with modern amenities like flushing toilets and hot running water. For added luxury, some lodgings feature inviting hot tubs and crackling log fires.
Just back from a few days stay here and honestly cannot fault anything about our stay. As a family we've stayed in many places which claim to cater for families ( including some of the best 5* ones but this is by far the best yet ). They have thought of everything especially for little ones (including the toilet seats!) and for parents it is these little details - plus the fact the setting is so very beautiful and super safe - which make a holiday SO enjoyable & relaxing (not something you can often say with a toddler in tow!) It is the perfect destination not just for families, I'd happily return just with my husband or with a group of friends for an escape or special occasion - it is so well located for local restaurants, activities (Tapnell Farm Park is brilliant!) and great beaches plus only 10 minutes from the Ferry port. A particular shout out to both Chloe & Amanda who ensured the everything was perfect and responded to any of our needs day or night before & during our stay - THANK YOU! We will be returning.

Beautiful, Peaceful Eco Cabin. It was a lovely location and a cute little cabin. The booking process was amazing, really friendly and so helpful! It was really easy with them to book. I had a great time there. The little outside fire pit was great with unlimited wood & bits you needed. Amazing presentation on arrival. I would have given it 5 stars but a few small things let it down. The cutlery and utensils were all dirty and we had to rewash them before they could be used. There was a funky smell in the bath room but that did leave after we run the shower. All in all a great time. We would 100% go again.

We had such a wonderful time here last weekend. We are a family with two very high energy young children aged 2 and 5 so it is nothing short of a miracle that we both actually felt relaxed after our stay here! The place was perfect for kids, they had so much fun running around, visiting the play farm. Family meals at the outdoor table, whether it was breakfast or a BBQ, was really special with the view over the hills to the sea. And the evenings in the hot tub after kids in bed were wonderful. We had a meal in the cow pub, sitting at an outdoor table and being able to relax and enjoy our meal while kids ran around the colourful cow sculptures. I hesitated to book because it is more than I would usually spend but it was worth every penny. The local area has family friendly and beautiful beaches nearby. I would highly recommend to families with young children, it is really the first holiday with them where we actually got to relax!

We had the most AMAZING AMAZING stay. We recently rented one of the new dome tents and just had the best time. Everything was so easy from start to finish. We called up and booked directly with the lovely team at the lodge. They even informed us of a special offer running the week we wanted to go. They arranged everything for us from the bike hire to the breakfast hamper and they were so accommodating. When we arrived the tent was spotless and warm and cosy and so welcoming. We used the bbq and sat and watched the sunsets and took advantage of the on site restaurant which serves delicious food and there is a great happy hour in the bar! I will definitely be booking a return trip and I highly recommend the farm and it’s perfect location. We don’t have children but there were loads of facilities to entertain young ones and the bathrooms were so clean and well kept up. A truly magical stay and I hope it’s not too long before I return. Thank you to all the team at Toms Eco Lodge it was wonderful xx

Stayed recently in the dome field, it was end of the season and I can see why, the wind really howls at night but they provided ear buds which were handy! We were also provided with a cot and high chair for our baby. It was nice and warm with a Dyson heater and we had the log burner going in the evening too making it super cosy. Toilet and shower area were fine, you have a dedicated toilet and shower both men's and women's for your dome which was great. The cooking area was good too with plenty of shared facilities, you can even take a job back to your done if you're not feeling social 😂. We added the four person breakfast which we spread over the days between two of us, it was very good value. We would definitely visit again, and I think Isle of Wight still has plenty for us to explore!

A quiet idyll tucked away. This was a different but enjoyable experience. There are different options for your stay, the 'pod' we had was nicely laid out with bedroom, walk in shower and toilet and second pull out bed in the kitchenette area. The added extra of a rented hot tub was a good addition. Situated next to Tapnell Farm there was plenty of scope for entertaining on site, with a restaurant included too. Excellent stay.

Had an amazing time in one of the pods at the Eco lodge - was perfect for just my partner and I. Made use of the BBQ for breakfast and communal pizza oven for dinner, a truly great and unique experience. Chloe made us feel very welcome and was happy to help at anytime via text message. Will definitely try and stay here again when visiting the Island.

Really great place to stay. The accomodation is well looked after and is certainly at the glamorous end of glamping. Staff were extremely helpful throughout booking and our stay. I dont really know what to say positive except the cake and coffee was nice but considering we were the only people in there it took so long. Took the girl serving 15 mins plus to make two coffees and put some cakes on a plate. Also staff hoovering and doing jobs around us, we weren't made aware it was closing only that they weren't serving lunch so we got coffee & cake offered and accepted as were already inside. Main thing...Really uncomfortable that the chef came out of the kitchen and started touching my infant daughters hand in her pushchair?? I'm sure this was harmless but really not okay to do that and I dont know why he thought that was appropriate, it made us feel very awkward. Wouldn't go back which is a shame as seems like a nice place.

What a charming hotel! My husband and I stay here every time we visit Newport. The rooms are cozy and sweetly decorated, with interesting points of art placed around the hotel to add to the character. The included breakfast is a bonus, and quite delicious. The English Breakfast option being my favourite. The garden in the back is the perfect way to enjoy a coffee and cake, when the weather permits. While we are not typical tourists (we visit to catch up with family in the area), the hotel is centrally located making it easy to wander the local area. There are a number of fantastic antique jewellery stores, restaurants and historic pubs. We look forward to our next visit!

What an exceptional hotel. We were lucky to stay in the apartment. Whilst it’s a walk from the main hotel and restaurant area it was a beautiful place to spend a few days on the island. The staff who help with breakfast and cleaning are a credit to the two managers. Everyone is so lovely and the husband and wife team couldn’t have been more friendly and helpful. We would not hesitate to stay again. The perfect location in striking distance of the whole island. The only small thing would be to have at least a King size bed. The double is rather small.

Luccombe Manor Country House Hotel is a charming coastal hotel situated on the Isle of Wight. Perched atop a cliff in Shanklin, it offers breathtaking sea views over Sandown Bay. The hotel provides straightforward rooms, some with sea views, and complimentary breakfast. It's a dog-friendly retreat with a tranquil atmosphere and helpful staff.
We visited the Isle of Wight for a family funeral and stayed 2 nights, 4 of us in two rooms. The rooms were spacious and clean, and well appointed. We were in room 23 which had a great bathroom with a bath, my sister was in 26 with a bigger room but smaller bathroom with a shower, no bath. The breakfasts were fantastic - good choice, freshly cooked, quickly served. Eggs Royale was good, the full English breakfast was smashing. It's very dog friendly with guests bringing dogs down to the breakfast room, which we liked. Views from the breakfast room were fantastic, straight out to sea. It's fairly close to the main street, 5 minute walk away, with good restaurants. I'll be going there again, recommended.

Positives and Negatives... An honest review! First the positives Exceptional service Beautiful grounds and facilities Perfect location and views Fabulous restaurant and breakfast Clean, well presented accommodations And SUPER DOGGY FRIENDLY!!! The best! The negatives We stayed in the chine court Apartment for 3 nights costing nearly £1000 including the excellent breakfast to have very little sleep. Noise from above is shocking. Constant creaks, you can hear conversations and even snoring! Sadly, the advertising is suggestive the apartment is independent,....sort of! WOULD HAVE NEVER booked with two dogs if we'd have known it was in a block with rooms above.. it's actually part of the main side 70s extension, a beautiful first class apartment, but not what we wanted at all, with a very underwhelming entrance and courtyard backing on to kitchens and fire exits of the rooms above. Early morning deliveries to the kitchen and general lorries arrived every day between 6.30am and 7am. It's such a shame as the hotel, staff and location are just perfect.... But the fact there are rooms above making constant noise means little to no sleep or rest and disturbed pooches. Workmen in the grounds also added to the drilling and banging during our stay. We thought we were here to stay in an Independent building so there would be peace and quiet.. For us and for other residents.. It couldn't have been more the opposite. It is self contained but set within a block of an extension. The actual manor is superb! Overall, if you don't mind noise and exceptionally early mornings, it's a beautiful place, but sadly, not for us. Having listened to every word of the conversations of the rooms above, walking up and down , hairdryers, drawers opening and closing, toilets flushing, showers being taken, for £1000 , isn't my idea of a holiday. Would I recommend it.... Don't stay in the apartment. The main building looks beautiful and had stunning views and the best location. We were constantly on edge . The dogs were amazing considering the circumstances, but they were reacting to so many unknown sounds, it became a real issue by day 3 and we left totally exhausted.

Me my wife and our five month old puppy Esme stayed for a long weekend in October (2025). We have never been on a doggy holiday, and had the most wonderful time. The staff especially Brook (front of house) and Kras (hospitality) were amazing. They were brilliant with Esme (puppy) giving her lots of fuss and care. We stayed in a sea view room, breathtaking views, comfortable beds and smart TV so you don’t miss your favourite shows. Breakfast was lovely with loads of options and dinner was delicious, best of all Esme was sat right next to us at every meal and was treated to sausages for breaky and an amazing doggy afternoon tea. We met one of the Directors, Steve on the first day and speaking to him we realised how much thoughts went into every dogs visit. It felt like we were staying in a dog hotel where humans are welcomed. Location was 5/5 right next to a lovely sandy break and the famous Chine attraction. We loved it so much we have booked again for a five night stay in the apartments for new years. Thank you and we can’t wait to return.

Overall really enjoyed our stay here! Definitely some pros and cons which I’ll list out below but as a summary we would happily return here and would recommend this hotel. Location was perfect for us for a short weekend of exploring. We didn’t have a car and got around by bus but they had plenty of parking. There is a shortcut up to the Main Street of shankin which is cute and has some nice restaurants. You also get a free pass to shanklin chine which is a shortcut to the beach but also quite cool to see. We found it a perfect base. Rooms were probably my least favourite part - they were fine but a bit small and dated. I guess given that we paid this didn’t feel the best value (but it is school holidays during early August so could be the reason for this too). Shower was fine though and all felt very safe and secure so not a dealbreaker. Breakfast really was as good as everyone says. And I’m quite hard to please here as a massive foodie! Cooked options to choose from which are made fresh to order for you, as well as a vast buffet of all the usual things (incredible Greek yogurt like I was actually back in Greece) and some other extras you don’t always get on the standard breakfast spread. My only other negative is the coffee was AWFUL! This was more of a pain than the rooms for me 🤣 - something was off with the coffee machine in that it was shooting some kind of chocolate sauce into the espresso shots, and they were coming out way too fast and really watered down. So it was bad bad bad. But really, if that’s the only thing to complain about it’s still good over all! Staff were friendly and super helpful and always resolved any issues we had very quickly. Facilities were good - it was always very clean and you have access to the pool & jacuzzi at the hotel as well as those at the sister hotel with an indoor pool and sauna. Our hotel was very dog friendly which was cute, and the outside area had views of the sea. Price was fair but again I think probably is hiked up in August which is what made the rooms feel a bit less good value. We would still stay here again.

We booked this hotel for 2 nights during the weekend as it was a busy time. When we arrived we had a few suitcases but one of the staff came and helped which was a positive thing. This hotel is located on a Cliftop facing the sea, and a short stroll from shanklin village. It's popular for its stunning location, sea view, and dog owners. These are some pros and cons. Pros: 1. Stunning views and great location 2. Good Service 3. Dog friendly and ample parking 4. Provides facilities such as a swimming pool, jacuzzi, Sauna Cons: 1. Basic rooms with basic bedding 2. No baby changing facility, not child friendly 3. Rooms are small and not enough space 4. No lift which is challenging if you are old or have a baby 5. Noone of the rooms are sound prof. You can hear people coming and going out from their room, door banging, and floor squeaking sound. Overall, it's a good hotel if you want a view, piece, and very dog friendly. However they need some improvement in rooms and making it more family orientated. It's surprising they provide everything for dogs ,but not even a single baby changing facility.

Nestled right on the beachfront, The Albion Hotel offers a delightful escape with its simple yet inviting rooms, many boasting stunning sea views. Over the years, this hotel has transformed from an overlooked establishment into a charming getaway that captures the essence of coastal living. Its prime location allows guests to feel as if they are almost at sea, making it an ideal spot for those looking to unwind by the water.
Had a fantastic weekend at The Albion. The location is beautiful, eating in the restaurant looking out to sea, couldn’t beat it! Our room was huge with everything we wanted, lovely roll top bath and amazing shower. Walk out on to the balcony with very comfortable sunbeds to relax on. The staff were excellent, very attentive and all done with a smile, such nice people. The food was incredible, delicious and so well presented. Thank you, we really enjoyed ourselves

We have just returned from a two night stay at The Albion, what a fantastic hotel. The rooms and decor in the hotel is outstanding, we had a room overlooking the sea with a roll top bath with stunning views. The management and staff are very attentive and welcoming, excellent service. We also ate at the Rock, for an evening meal as well as lunch at the bar, the food was excellent. We also got a shuttle one evening which was a lovely service to offer. We also ate at the Hut, which was also lovely but I thought The Rock had the edge and was also better value. Thanks for a lovely stay, we hope to be back 😊

Fabulous location. We had a sea view balcony room. Delicious food in the restaurant. Clean and peaceful. Friendly staff. Relaxing in room treatments by a lovely lady called Tina. Perfect for our wedding anniversary.

We stayed here last summer with my parents who used their assisted room and I won't bore you with the details, but like others have said the staff are not well managed and the service really lets this place down. The food for the price was shocking and we ended up eating at other local pubs and restaurants after a very disappointing meal on the first night. I emailed them upon our return and heard nothing back. Then they consistently send me offers and deals which I reply to saying please remove me from your email list as we won't be returning to stay. They then ask me to resend my original (not all negative in any way) email with suggestions and praise where it was due, but they never reply and i just get another email with another offer.

We only stayed for one night but i'm sure we will be back! We stayed with our son and two dogs and felt so welcome, the staff were attentive at all times and very helpful. The room was beautifully furnished and to such a high standard, no complaints from us! Such beautiful views! We had dinner with our family (9 of us all together) and all the food came out together and was really delicious. The lady who dealt with our table (her name has slipped my mind!!) was fantastic. Thank you all! 🙂

Wow what an amazing restaurant, after a little mix up on the booking, the staff were very professional and sorted it out and arranged the most perfect table setting in the sunshine. The staff are so friendly and pleasant only to willing to ensure that our dining experience was perfect. Our food was delicious, very well presented and well portioned, excellent wine selection and has a range to suit everyone’s taste and budget, having looked at other restaurants on the island the Albion / Rock is great value. The views are totally outstanding making the ambiance of this venue totally memorable

Difficulty obtaining a coffee at 3.30 pm in Freshwater, but found a hotel on the waterfront with lovely view and the waitress was ever so friendly and informative. More expensive, but very relaxing. Menu on the pricey side, but a great position. Was surprised to find cafés closed so early in high season.

We had the most incredible stay here. Beautiful room and included beach towels and Elemis products, with a terrace with sun loungers right beside the sea. Staff were super helpful and friendly. Great location to stay for a sea swim and delicious food. Will definitely be back.

The staff at this travel lodge are amazing. Very helpful, polite and their service is excellent. I have been staying in room 102, it's been spotless each time I have stayed. This travel lodge is in a central location. There is a nearby separately operated car park £8:00 for 24 hours, 30 sec walk away. It's a must stay tops all other travel lodges I have stayed in. Thanks to all the staff

I spent a few nights here. The service was okay. The room felt more like a students room as it was soo basic for example, there is a desk area, very small wardrobe area to hang clothes, coats and a little area on top to store things in. They give you a very small kettle and free tea bags, coffee, milk cups and sugar which you can help yourself to downstairs. They give you bath towels and hand towels. A small/very dusty TV which should have been dusted for health and safety! Bath was very small and slippery. You couldn't even bathe in there to be honest. Be very careful when showering. Fan didn't work in the bathroom so bathroom got pretty steamy!!! The radiator heat was good. Mattress was lumpy. Pillows were uncomfortable and gave me a neck ache when I woke up in the morning. Cleaners only came in once a week but didn't really clean the bathroom. Only the carpet and the rubbish was taken out. I also smelled cannabis in the hallways and lift. It also may have been coming from one of the rooms I was opposite to on the second floor. The member of staff named Chrissy was helpful, polite, smiley and informative! I heard how they are going to refurbished the hotel! Hopefully it will be more modern than it is now!

Rooms, beds and bathrooms are tidy and clean. No cupboards to keep the dress and baggage. Just a few open hangers. Linens and towels are provided. No free Wi-fi. No onsite parking. Although it is adjacent to the high street, it is calm inside the room. Office desk is provided with two plug points in an awkward position and can't be extended unless you have an extension with a cable. Breakfast is just ok.

Our recent stay at The Villa Mentone Hotel was excellent from start to finish. The hotel staff were friendly and professional, and the service was top-notch. A heartfelt shout-out to Salma Begum, who was incredibly helpful during our stay. HIGHLY DISAPPOINTED – Unacceptable Experience Despite Full Payment 🤦‍♂️ I visited Isle of Wight with my pregnant wife and child for a special family trip and had booked two nights at The Villa Mentone Hotel (27/07/25 to 29/07/25). I paid in full for Room 502, specifically chosen for its sea view as a surprise for my wife. When we arrived, I was given the key for Room 502 and climbed five floors (no lifts) only to find someone else already inside the room. The receptionist had mistakenly given our room to another guest. While mistakes happen, this situation should have handled better The staff asked us to wait at reception while they tried to correct the issue. The manager called and apologized, which I appreciated. However, the real disappointment came when the guest who wrongly occupied our room refused to leave, even after learning it wasn’t his booking. Despite clearly seeing my name on the key holder, and knowing he had not paid for a sea view room, he coldly refused to vacate. He even ignored the fact that my child was in tears. I was highly frustrated. The hotel then offered a different room with no sea view, plus a partial refund. But that wasn’t acceptable to us on a special occasion. I expected the hotel to stand by its commitment and correct the mistake, not ask us to bear the cost of someone else’s selfishness. In the end, I cancelled the booking, requested a refund, and had to pay extra to stay some where else. This experience left us deeply disappointed. We didn’t just lose a room, we lost a part of our family vacation we were excited for

Absolutely disgusting!! Door would not lock on the room, toilet constantly flushing and smelt horrible all around the hotel. The man who assisted us and manager spoke in their own language as if trying to intimidate us 9on the phone when we complained. I spoke to the manager asking for a refund she said no you probably feel uncomfortable due to your mental health issues !!!

Terrible experience – avoid this place! We arrived at the hotel and were immediately shouted at by the manager for wearing beachwear. I was shirtless with a towel over my shoulder, so I calmly put my shirt on. She then continued shouting, saying flip-flops weren’t allowed either. We decided not to stay and asked her to cancel our booking, but she refused. While I was on the phone to Booking.com in reception, she threatened to lock us in and made rude remarks in her language to a colleague. The Booking.com representative confirmed there is no policy about what clothing should be worn in the hotel. We remained calm throughout, but her behaviour was aggressive and unprofessional. Booking.com eventually cancelled our reservation. Lesson learned – always check reviews before booking. Would never return.

The two gentlemen who assisted us were rude , started speaking their own language in front of us guests .we couldn’t even understand a thing as they were ignoring us .They had to walk into the room we were going to stay after giving us keys whenever they wanted . The room was all dusty , couldn’t even sleep there as we were having allergies from the dusty in the room. The room was just dirty , dead insects on the window .the room looked like it had not been clean for ages. The bathroom was all smelly and dirty . The dent on the floor

This is by far the worst hotel I have ever booked First, upon arrival I was charged £30 for my small dog for just one night, which is absolutely unreasonable. Second, in order to “protect themselves,” the hotel took my full card details including the 3-digit security code, which is extremely unsecure and non-confidential. They explained it was “in case anything gets damaged in the room” (though honestly, it would be very difficult to damage anything in that room since everything already looked like it had been ruined about 20 years ago). We were placed in a tiny room right next to a squeaky door leading to the staircase, so every time guests will be from the other 10 rooms passed by, we will Be hear constant creaking and noise. The windows didn’t face anything nice – just other guests’ windows, the roof, and bins outside with the people passed by. The windows themselves were filthy, Dirty, with no curtains at all, only old drapes. The bathroom was a disaster – like stepping back into the 1990s. The furniture was outdated, the carpet smelled terrible, and the chairs were so worn out and dirty that I honestly felt unsafe sitting on them, worried I might catch something. In short, this is truly the worst hotel experience possible. I am not going to stay in this hotel even for a second. They refused to refund my money, and honestly this place is nothing but misery, not a hotel. So people dotn book it.
Sun S — Google review
This place would be nice if the owner/manager was nice and wouldn't stroll in your room whenever she feels like it. The woman is out right rude and she has no respect. A few weeks ago, there was a young boy, who wasn't staying at the hotel, he turned up for help during an asthma attack and all the manager cared about was that he was on her property and threatened with police for him to move. She is evil. I've never met such a disgusting and selfish person in my life. Avoid staying here.
Jake M — Google review
Having driven down from London we had an absolutely shocking experience today with a very volatile and exceptionally rude ‘manager’ called Tina Who was shouting at us from her car, before we had even checked in. It all deteriorated further from there, threatening to lock us in when asking for a refund inside the premises. Speaking in her native language thinking that I would not understand - she kept saying ‘so what so what’ We called booking.com to report this place and the lady was super helpful in dealing with it. Still can’t believe it, absolute lunacy
Sammy U — Google review
Where do I start... Oh yeah avoid this place!!!! ... Channel view hotel, isle of wight. Just had the worst 5 days of my life and was stuck because went on a coach trip. I wasn't expecting a 5*but something above a 1* would have been nice. The place definitely needs closing down and a full refurb. Even the locals were surprised it was open again and young waitress that started Monday the day we arrived told us she wanted to leave on Tuesday. The base of the beds are ripped and dirty. no springs in the mattress. If you are wanting a shower forget that ,the pressure in the room is zero. Taps on the basin loose. Plug socket cover not fitted on right. And the list goes on
Karen B — Google review
I booked without checking the reviews for one night in July 2022. I was dubious once I read the reviews but as I only paid £38 for a night, I tried it. First impressions were not great, no key had been left for me, so I phoned the given number as reception was closed. No one answered until the second ring. Was told quite rudely that I was at the wrong hotel, when I insisted I was not and confirmed my booking, I was told to wait a minute and someone would be with me. Ten minutes later a woman and a young child eventually appeared, I was checked in and as I was getting settled into my room, I was interrupted so towels could be delivered. Not overly impressed with the check in process or the room not being ready for my arrival as I arrived at the said time. The room itself was basic and clean, but I was happy enough with this as it was just a base for the night. The road is fairly quiet and I barely saw anyone at the hotel during the stay. The main downside was the awful shower and very noisy bathroom fan. I wasn't expecting a lot giving the price, but a shower with some water pressure at least should be given. Cannot comment on breakfast as didn't have it but I think the kitchen/bar area was closed anyway which seemed a bit odd. Staff not the friendliest but the location is very close to the amenities of Sandown and the beach.

Just come back from a 2 night stay at the Shoreside Inn. What can I say... from the moment we arrived in the carpark Andy was at hand with a warm welcome, help with bags and a wealth of information of the island. This hotel was on the seafront with ample bars and restaurants within walking distance, off road parking and a short walk to the cliffside lift into the town. The room was of a very high standard in cleanliness, with added attention to detail even arranging tea and coffee sachets in rows. The breakfast room was of the same high standard. Breakfast was of the highest level with presentation of food thought through. Every ingredient was cooked to perfection. Our room was spacious and spotlessly clean with a beautiful view over the sea and had everything you would require just as if you were in your own home. You have to go here its amazing!! Thank you Andy & Jo for making our stay so enjoyable

We have now stayed at Shoreside Inn for four times and it is always the same high quality. We have already booked for next year. The hotel is situated on Shanklin sea front and has parking, so you don’t have to pay for parking along the seafront. On arrival Andy and Jo just appear in the car park to greet you, ready to help carry luggage to your room. They are brilliant friendly hosts who will do whatever they can to make your stay comfortable and memorable. The room we usually have has a side sea-view. It is very spacious with a comfortable king size bed, two easy chairs and a spacious walk-in shower. Besides normal facilities like TV and WIFI etc there is a mini-fridge which is restocked daily with fresh milk and bottles of water and an extra treat is a little bag of jelly beans. The rooms are beautifully clean. Breakfast – Jo is the cook and she supplies wonderful tasty breakfasts, with lots of fresh local produce. It cannot be faulted. Cereals, yogurts, fresh fruit salad to start. You can then have a full English breakfast with local produce or you can choose whatever you want from the menu. The bacon is thick and tasty, the eggs fresh and we love the way Jo cooks the Isle of Wight tomatoes. Even the tomato sauce is from the Isle of Wight The toast and jams also deserve a mention. Jo makes her own jams which are delicious – marmalade, strawberry, raspberry, blackcurrant and when we were there tayberry jam. There is a wide choice of breads, which is always lovely and fresh (not the typical sliced loaf). Besides the usual fare Jo often cooks “specials.” We tried the waffles and the pancakes with mixed berry syrup. As expected – delicious! To take away for the day they then supply pastries Andy is your waiter for breakfast – warning, he does not dress up to act as waiter, but he is always cheerful, often whistling or humming. As soon as you say where you are going on that day he is a mine of information and recommendations about where to eat and what to do. We cannot recommend this hotel enough. Check out their website and Facebook!

The owner and staff are absolutely fantastic, very accommodating, down to earth, knowledgeable, with beautiful & wholesome interactions with guest(s). Their knowledge for the area and recommendations for things to do are incredible. The owner is exceptionally sweet and friendly, my room was always perfectly kept and had more than enough space to put away my things before I left for the day. The location is amazing as well, since I didn't realise just how close the bus station was until I got there, basically making sure that I could get from my room to anywhere on the island in about 1h30 or less.

No Man's Fort is a 19th-century sea fort turned elegant lodging and events venue, accessible by boat or helicopter. The fort boasts five bars, open-air hot tubs, an indoor fire pit, and a spa. Its lighthouse suite offers stunning 360-degree sea views. Originally built for defense, the fort now offers luxury retreats with inclusive packages for meals and transport.
Went on a day trip visit with a lovely 3 course lunch. Very well done with a light tour with key historical detail. I'm sure it is a lovely place to stay with quirky rooms and lots of places to relax with stunning views. I would say it was good value at £65 a head.

Mixed reviews about No Man’s Fort.... A great idea and experience. The best thing was watching the sunset in the hot tub! We were very lucky with the weather. However: - definitely understaffed - the different bars are not all open at once only specific timings which is extremely annoying if you wish to have a drink but explore elsewhere on the fort - drinks are highly priced (£14 for a large glass of wine!) with additional 12.5% on your drink orders despite having to go up to the bar (no waiter service) - a huge disappointment for us was at dinner they make you sit on large round tables with other guests. Not what you expect when you go away for a romantic weekend as a couple. Instead of spending quality time with your loved one you end up talking to other guests which was fine but not what we had planned/wished to do but we had no choice. - the gourmet dinner was good but we had no clue what we were getting until it was served - lacks atmosphere - no music on the decking and the cabaret bar was shocking (the only bar open after dinner) - we had a surprise sword and champagne experience which never took place and staff were not easily available to find out so gave up - our room was dripping with rusty water which stained the carpet.. may be difficult for them to fix but something to consider if possible - the breakfast was already running out of things at 08:40 and again you sit on round tables I feel for the price, these issues should be rectified.

Lovely adventure starts with a 40 minute boat ride out into the Solent. The fort looks very forbidding as you arrive. A welcome glass of fizz then a tour and you are left to roam at your leisure. Rooms were massive, food was good and staff very friendly. Would love to return

We would highly recommend an overnight stay at the Fort. We had a fantastic experience. We were very lucky that the weather was fantastic. We shared the boat with people visiting Spitbank Fort and people that were going for lunch on No Man's Fort. The staff organised the two groups very well. We were ushered to the open space on top of the Fort where the bar was open. Whilst the lunch group were taken to the dining area. We were then given a tour, which was very interesting. After the tour we were given the keys to our rooms, where our bags were already in the rooms. We chose to enjoy the lovely weather and use the hot tubs, and later in the afternoon used the games room. Dinner was at 8pm, we were sat with other overnight guests, we didn't mind this at all, and it made the evening very sociable. The food was excellent, and the service brilliant. Breakfast was served in the atrium, it was self service and very good. From the time we checked in at the Gunwharf until we left the Fort, the staff were fantastic, they were helpful, friendly and attentive.

Luxurious and exclusive hotel in the middle of the Solent. We visited in January with friends celebrating birthdays. Trip to the fort was very rough, but coming home the following day was dead calm. Champagne on arrival then a tour of the fort followed by excellent buffet style lunch. Ample time to explore the fort including the multiple games rooms, lower and upper levels, and lighthouse. Evening meal was good but portions were small. Management need to pay attention, in ensuring that areas by hot tubs and fire pit are cleared of bottles and cigarette butts before guests get up

Fab from the beginning! The staff were polite and attentive. Nothing was too much trouble. The food was amazing and our room was beautiful. We sat in the sun, drank fizz and watched the sunset. This was on my bucket list of places to visit and it did not disappoint. 100% AMAZING!

This place has the worst customer service I Have ever seen. I have asked the manger to call me back 3 times and sent numerous messages and emails. I have not had one single reply ! This company is a complete joke. They gave my friend tickets for a competition. She couldn’t make It so asked if she could change the tickets into my name. The fort agreed and even sent me confirmation of the new ticket names. Then last night they decided to go back on there word. We have proof they agreed but yet they have suddenly decided the prize can not be transferred. It’s so wrong as me and my partner were really excited and even booked a baby sitter and dog sitter for the two nights. It’s wrong of them to go against there word !

Booked a Friday evening for my Wife's Birthday which we were really looking forward to. They cancelled saying only four rooms had been booked. Then to add insult to injury offered me another Friday but not between May and September. How unproffesesional is that, not even a bottle of bubbly. BEWARE If you are booking a special occasion they could easily cancel. I really wanted to leave a positive review but this is just not good enough, leaving my Wife and I extremely dissapointed.

It boasts a convenient location, just a short stroll from the beach and within walking distance to the town center, offering easy access to various amenities and attractions. The property provides free car parking and is also close to Shanklin railway station for those using public transport. Guests have praised their comfortable stay at The Chestnuts, highlighting the cleanliness of the rooms, bathrooms, and dining area.
This lovely BnB was absolutely fantastic! Overall the stay was very comfortable! The room was very clean and the bed was super comfortable. After a long day exploring the coast I got a great night sleep. The room was fully stocked with water, tea, snacks and the included breakfast, a yummy full English, was a great way to start the day. The location was perfect walking distance to the beach and restaurants, 5min or so down the hill. On my next trip to the island, I'll definitely be staying again. Wonderful stay all around!!!

Just superb. I stayed at the Chestnuts and I could not have chosen a better base or more importantly host. Nick goes above and beyond, friendly, informative and makes the best breakfast. No request was to much from cleaning the rooms on request to providing a warm and friendly atmosphere. I had a different breakfast in my 3 day stay and have to say the cooked full English was just so good. If you are looking for a good place to stay, close to the beach (2 minute walk) and perfect access point to the rest of the island I would highly recommend the Chestnuts. Also which is a big bonus nowadays if you want Wi_Fi then the speeds are great. Probably as good as at home. With over No issues connecting your devices. A great stay I will be back.

We arrived, later than expected, but was given a very warm welcome, things were explained and we were taken to our room, which was spotlessly clean as was all public areas. The bed was very comfortable. The shower was powerful and hot. And the breakfast delicious. There is ample parking outside. In a very good location to reach the beach or town on foot.

I stayed in a single garden room. Perfect for my stay & my needs. Nice & quiet, fantastic shower. Nick & Hayley lovely hosts. Breakfast great. Great communication and location would happily stay again.

Excellent location in Shanklin, close to the beach and bus stops for travelling around the area. The room is compact and with a newly refurbished bathroom. Hayley and Nick are great hosts, lots of tips for travelling when we arrived. The breakfast is great, and we are impressed with the variety of jams & cereals provided.

Stayed three nights April 2022. Room was comfortable, spotlessly clean, well supplied tea/coffee etc. Breakfast is pre order, freshly cooked & delicious. Hayley and Nick made us feel very welcome and gave excellent local recommendations. Shanklin is a great base for exploring the island. Would definitely recommend staying here.

We stayed for 4 days at The Chestnuts. It was a lovely stay with comfortable bed and pillows. Our room, bathroom and the dining area were neat and tidy. Everyday we had breakfast of our choice - fruit, cereal, beans on toast, eggs on toast, scrambled eggs, salmon, jams, fruit juice. It’s located on the main road towards the beach. Loved the location! Thank you Nick and Hayley for making our stay amazing! 😄

Lovely stay, comfy bed, comfy pillows. Blinds and curtains blocked the light for a good night's sleep. Tea tray had everything you need, glass bottle of water was a nice touch. Great shower with shower gel, hand wash, pack of tissues and even a makeup remover cloth. Fluffy white towels. Hairdryer if needed. Choice of breakfast was good and nicely cooked. Fruit, cereal, full English, beans on toast, eggs on toast, scrambled eggs and salmon, jams, fruit juice. Bar was really good and drinks were very very reasonable. Great location. Perfect. Thank you Nick and Hayley.

The Northbank Hotel, located in Seaview, exudes a charming vintage vibe with its Victorian architecture and 1960s touches. The property is perched above the shore, offering stunning views of the Solent and easy access to the village promenade. Run by the Shaw-Yates family since 1959, this hotel combines modern amenities with retro elements like dial telephones and an original 1960s Sega fruit machine.
We had to stay here because the owners said they were selling up but now I believe the son and his wife are going to take the job on. Loved the room and the shower also had a sea view!

Beautiful hotel! Family run with wonderful character and oodles of charm. Definitely the place to be in Seaview. Fantastic views from seafront garden and a great new cafe for non residents, serving top quality coffee! Not to mention the local draft beers and well stocked bar! A must visit when in Seaview!

If you want a bland corporate hotel with all the associated modern hotel facilities, then this isn't the hotel for you. If you want to step out of the hustle and bustle of the modern world into one of times gone by, then this is the perfect hotel. Relax in style and take in the best possible sea view, super home cooking and friendly staff who are only too glad to help. The beds are extremely comfortable and you can sleep to the sound of the waves lapping the shore. The character of this hotel is wonderful.

Truly loved our stay in this quirky hotel, facing the beautiful beach with a wonderful green space facing Portsmouth. Steps down to the beach and regular swimmers meet to the left at the bench who were friendly and welcoming. Lovely hotel, steeped in history and time, with a wonderful staff team, great breakfasts and a range of rooms (some being upgraded) to cater for different needs. Very restorative, and quirky as we needed much rest and nurture. They also do cream teas and have table tennis :)

Fabulous. Yes, it was 'just' coffee in the garden, but we also ordered the lemon drizzle cake which was so special! Really delicious. And the views are spectacular. Thanks you for delicious coffee and cake. We will be back!

Think of it not as a hotel but as a big wonderful bed and breakfast with a bar and full board. We return year after year for the exceptional staff/family that run the hotel and of course the best breakfast on the isle of Wight. The kitch retro decor isn't for everyone but i personally feel right at home.

Outstanding. A rare find in today’s world. Charm, beauty, outstanding service. The kids loved it. Especially the hat party on the first night. Perfect in every way. Makes a refreshing change from the bland and soulless hospitality industry that has become the norm. Top notch.

This feels a bit like writing a review after being to stay with family and if thats the type of feel you like then this is the perfect hotel for you. The hotel is cosy, comfortable, deeply relaxing with unbeatable views and this year was our 13th visit in a row with our children who wouldnt miss it for the world. Days of swimming in the sea, collecting shells and catching crabs on the rocks without an electronic device in sight make this a break back in time. Mary's breakfasts are wonderful and the highlight of the stay with a 3 course dinner looking out over the sea the most peaceful way to spend the evening. Everyone who goes falls in love and this place is the best kept secret on the island. If you want upmarket, chic decor with all the trimmings this is not the place for you but if you value character, experience, old fashioned simplicity then this may just be your idea of heaven.

A bit of a squeeze to get there, very narrow access road. Once there, the pub is a delight. Spacious outdoor seating area with sea view. Really good local beers on tap. A very friendly and efficient service. Food was very good, good portions and reasonable pricing. Thank you for a relaxed late lunch.

Came for a low key family meal. Staff very friendly and welcoming. Service a bit slow- drinks came after our meal and had to be chased up, as did one of the dishes, and the pudding that 3 of us us had was missing several of ingredients, which were brought out when asked for.A bit pricey, and confusion amongst the staff whether my blue light discount could be used or not (it could, but not all staff aware). Dont like the fact a service charge is automatically applied. Location and staff absolutely lovely, service and quality of food a bit disappointing.
Melanie J — Google review
Our last 2 visits to the crab and lobster this year have not been pleasant. Our 1st visit, the food took a while to come out and was over priced for what it was. The fish pie lacked chunks of fish, there were a lot of dirty tables around us. We booked this visit. On our second visit we walked in hoping to get a table for 2, we were told that they were down a member of staff in the kitchen so we’re only taking 50% of bookings. Inside was empty and there were quite a few tables outside. We asked if we could sit outside to eat or drink (lovely sunny day) and were told that both indoors and outdoors were fully booked. Staff seemed uninterested to seat us or want any more business and turned us away. Our friend called up later that week of which crab and lobster confirmed that they don’t take bookings outside. I’m not sure why the staff would lie to customers? I was 6 months pregnant on our last visit and even a drink outside would have been nice in the heat but we were told this wasn’t possible. I’ve been coming to the C&L for years but never again. Attitudes of the staff were completely unhelpful and unwelcoming. Car parking can be difficult so get read to walk and alongside their recent 1 star hygiene rating (which I only saw afterwards)…I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND this pub for many reasons. Lovely views and walk down to the beach but that‘s it.

Only write reviews when unhappy with the experience or have found a gem, this place is an absolute gem and should be shouted about. Great service and delicious hot and well presented plates. The Parsnip and Mushroom soup was so good we got the recipe from the kitchen. The three large Sausage and Bubble & Squeak dish was fantastic, others had the Pie, and Ham Egg and chips that could not be finished. Would fully recommend.

Saw this place in a holiday magazine. And wanted to try it. One hell of a journey to get there, and some of the narrowest roads I've ever encountered. But it was worth it. Had an excellent meal outside overlooking the sea, up on the cliffs. Wonderful views . Staff all friendly and helpful. Drinks fair priced. As was the food which was homemade and delicious. The place itself is looking rather tired and in need of some tlc As are the toilets .
Cutnedge69 — Google review
Had Sunday dinner, waited 50 minutes. Roast pork had been cooked, sliced and left to dry so became tough, broccoli was blanched and was too hard to cut with a dinner knife. Conversations held on the car park confirmed that if the establishment was to continue serving food like this they would lose the custom of the locals as well as the tourists as word would get around. Hopefully the establishment takes heed of the comments and produces food edible for all including the elderly that frequent the pub. Admittedly we were very disappointed.
Stephen B — Google review
Our group of 10 people stopped here for an after dinner drink at sunset. As we have noticed in most local establishments, all orders must be placed and paid for by the customer at the bar. The staff was very pleasant, drinks fine and the ocean view from the outdoor seating magnificent. I really enjoyed a short walk on the beach accessible by fairly steep and uneven steps. The small parking space by the inn was full, we had to park on the street and walk quite a distance.

Nice pub on the coast. Food selection varied with the emphasis on sea food. Service was very good and friendly. Saw a few meals being served all looked good. The Ploughman's looked substantial. We decided to have the fish, chips with garden peas. When it arrived it looked good however on tasting the chips they were covered in salt. I appreciate that some people like salt on their chips, we don't! Unfortunately, this ruined our meal. Mentioned this to the staff so I hope in the future salt is on the table for use if required and not already added. C&L please take note.

The Angel & Blue Pig is a charming gastropub and boutique hotel located in Lymington. The hotel offers 14 cozy rooms with country-chic decor, featuring amenities such as super-king-size beds, Nespresso coffee machines, and smart televisions. Some rooms even come with welcome hampers filled with homemade treats.
We stayed at the Angel and Blue Pig for the weekend for 3 nights for our anniversary, and our stay was lovely. We booked a Double Deluxe room, which was really cosy, and the bed was so comfortable I had the best night's sleep. Our room faced onto the High Street, so I thought it might be noisy, but other than the doves roosting on the roof and the refuse collection early one morning, it was really quiet. Not sure how old the building is, but due to its age, the corridors and floors are creaky, and the rooms have imperfections and wonky door frames, but this all adds to the quirky atmosphere. You can feel the history in the building. We booked a table for Sunday lunch, which was very good. My partner ordered the vegetarian option, but this had sold out, so he was offered vegetarian sausages instead, which was fine. It must be a popular option, as this was only 2.15pm. We would most certainly stay here again.

Visited as a pub at lunchtime, loved it, so booked a table for dinner for acoustic night. Service was very slow, due to staff v customer ratio, but I can't fault them when you had them. Very friendly and welcoming. Lamb rump and mini lamb pie was delicious and sitting next to the folk music gathering was great.

Cozy and Welcoming Spot by the Sea We had a lovely time at The Beach House recently. The atmosphere felt really homey and relaxed, and Alex’s service truly stood out. Alex greeted us with a warm smile, checked in often without being intrusive, and made us feel right at home — like we were being taken care of by a friend. We sat out in the garden area for a drink before we sat down in the restaurant , which was charming but a little messy when we first arrived. It looked like it had been busy earlier, but the staff handled it quickly and professionally. Within minutes everything was cleaned up and tidy, which really showed how attentive and on top of things the team was. The rest of the experience was great — good food, cold drinks, and a laid-back vibe that made it easy to unwind. Thanks to Alex and the rest of the staff, we left feeling happy and well taken care of. Definitely a place we’d come back!

Thank you for a lovely evening. Would highly recommend and will definitely be back soon.

Called for a basic drink and 4 kids meals on Sunday 21/9/25 sunny fresh day, place was busy. Tables were uncleared and a queue at bar. We got a drink and were told there was a table shortly. When we were seated there was a sea of uncleared tables. I needed to order at the bar, and although there were at least 4-5 staff, everyone was surly and no one made eye contact. I tried to smile and look encouraging but they all seemed sullen and non committal. Eventually I was served by a chap who after my cheery thanks and encouragement finally managed to speak to me! We got our food and left. Very disappointed with the service in such a pretty house. I’m sorry to moan but they need a good manager with enthusiasm and experience in customer service!

Room was initially lovely and with a great view of the Needles, however, the bathroom has a smelly drain issue which was quite pungent and walk in shower was a disgrace with black mould all over the tiles and the shower floor was even in a worse state. The whole walk in shower needs ripping out and replacing. Wooden bed frame and headboard made for a noisy squeeky nights sleep. Considering this was your most expensive room, then it is not at an acceptable standard for the cost of the room. Quality of the food was mediocre and not enough staff on duty to cover the busy breakfast and lunch times with people queueing up at the bar to order food, drinks, coffee etc. The staff that were on duty did their very best to remain friendly considering the heavy workload. We stayed here for 2 nights and never saw the same staff twice ?. Would not stay here again !!!

Three of us visited after a long (very windy) walk down the coast. Food was lovely, service was fab, really friendly staff and the atmosphere was chilled. The reason for the one star knock off was the when we went to leave, we had been told my Mum had paid the wrong bill (she just assumed the amount loaded onto the card machine was what we saw on the printed bill) which we didn’t mind in the slightest, returned inside and paid the correct bill. We were then told by a chap who sorted the rebill “This is why we always tell our customers to check their bill” didn’t really appreciate that as that’s somewhat laying the blame on us. However, we would still return if in the area again.

We had the most amazing mini-moon stay at The Beach House. The guesthouse is beautifully decorated with rustic charm, stunning sea views, and even a glimpse of the Isle of Wight. Our room was spacious and comfortable, and we especially loved the freestanding bath! The staff made our stay extra special. Alex, our first waiter, was so bubbly and friendly – he even brought us complimentary champagne when he found out we had just got married. He was also super knowledgeable about the local brewery’s beers. Leanne greeted us warmly, noticed my wedding bouquet, and remembered us throughout our stay, always checking in. On our second night, Leo was fantastic – he gave great food recommendations and carefully checked ingredients when I asked, showing real care and attention. Overall, this was the best stay we’ve ever had. We’re so glad we chose The Beach House and can’t wait to come back – highly recommend!

Amazing location with incredible views of the sea, gorgeous geogian decor, really great food with lots of vegan options and entirely nut free kitchen- great for us as we have nut, dairy and egg allergies between us! Our server Alex was brilliant, super knowledgeable about the menu, told us the interesting history of the building, and just a lovely guy. Would highly recommend this place.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A Fantastic Pub with Great Food & Cosy Stays The Bosun’s Chair is a real gem — warm, welcoming, and full of charm. I was passing on my bicycle and dropped in for a thirst quenching drink. The staff were friendly, and I was served straightaway. I decided to sit in the garden as the sun was shining and the enclosed area had many tables to choose from. I enjoyed listening to the birdsong and felt the garden was pretty and well kept.

Pleasant staff, easy check in. Room recently refurbished, striking design features. It was a pity that the bathroom had not received similar attention in recent years. The overwhelming selection of toiletries did not make up for the cracked wash basin and the badly stained shower with a door that did not close and very slow draining. Breakfast was good, well cooked and nicely presented.

Very accomodating wanted soft roll/bread alternative. No trouble. Fish finger sandwich arrived promptly with tasty chips. Wasnt busy; staff were friendly; toilets clean. Excellent location for Town station.

We liked the hotel. We did not sleep well not because of the comfort but due to the hot weather. They provided a fan as standard but this was ineffective. Short of Aircon in each room, not sure what can be done to alleviate this problem.

Horrible experience at this pub today Sunday 13th July I ordered a pizza and waited 40 minutes before asking the waitress about it (long brow hair - ponytail). She claimed the pizza had already been delivered but that no one was at the table. This was simply not true—my husband and I had been sitting at the table (table 25) the entire time watching the tennis final, and I was unwell, so we hadn’t moved. Instead of acknowledging the mistake, she brought the pizza back microwaved. I calmly explained again that we were at the table the whole time, and she actually responded by saying, "That’s not true". Absolutely unprofessional. No apology. No ownership of the error. Just blame-shifting and reheated food. I won’t be returning, and I don’t recommend this place if you expect basic customer service or respect.

The hotel features its own vegetable garden and free-roaming chickens, ensuring that much of the restaurant's menu is fresh and locally sourced. Inside, you'll find a bright and airy atmosphere enhanced by simple whitewashed decor and an impressive art collection curated by Danish owner Gert.
Fantastic small hotel. The room we had was off high quality and had great views over the village to the sea. The breakfasts were excellent and the croissant some of the best that I've had (not sure if they were produced on site or bought in). The owner/manager was very sociable and informative and easy to talk to, wanting to talk to his guests. Would go again and recommend.

We had a wonderful child free break and this hotel couldn't have been more perfect. So quiet and relaxing and the setting is beautiful. The gardens are gorgeous and a fabulous place to relax with a wine in the evening. The food was great and I think the breakfast was the best hotel breakfast I have ever had. The staff were so lovely and accommodating. I find it so surprising how many negative reviews there are over there not being coffee in the room, didn't bother us in the slightest and there are so many lovely areas to sit and enjoy a coffee if you wish! We will definitely be back!

This has to be on the top of the list for an excellent foodie experience. We received a very warm greeting by the owner and the staff. The log fire and comfortable designer furniture were a joy to experience while having a pre dinner drink. The dining room had equally comfortable designer seating and we enjoyed the current exhibition of contemporary paintings around the walls as we savoured our food. We will definately be returning.

A total experience, starting from the greeting at the door, through pre dinner drinks in the art filled reception rooms, to a stunning dinner of freshly picked salad, fruits and seasonal home grown vegetables. The service was amazing, with a wonderful selection of wines, nothing was missing. Very much looking forward to more of the same this year. Thank you Team Hillside!

Appley Manor Hotel, a beautifully restored Victorian establishment with an impressive observation tower, boasts well-appointed guestrooms complete with private bathrooms and an onsite restaurant. Patrons rave about their recent dining experiences, describing it as a nostalgic journey to the 90s with comforting homemade dishes like steak pie served alongside delicious gravy, vegetables, and mashed potatoes. The children's menu offers diverse options including the unconventional choice of a marmite sandwich. The generous portion sizes are commended for their value for money.
Lovely staff food always amazing and not long to wait for it. Price very reasonable due to large portion sizes.Only 5 minutes away from where I live. Can't comment on rooms as I have never stayed over.

The food was great and lovey nice size and great on the price 👌 Didn't stay in the hotel room only gone for the food. The bar was nice, but the problem was that the woman was on her own. When she did get help, the male walked past me to serving other customers when I was still waiting and was annoyed about it.

We stayed for 2 nights and it was fantastic! The location is very quiet and not too far from Ryde, a short walk downhill through the park and you are right on the seafront. You can walk into Ryde or Seaview easily. The staff were so friendly and welcoming. Our room was spacious and spotless. It's not the most modern hotel but the staff make up for that. Our breakfast was reasonably priced and the food was excellent. We were offered refills for tea and toast and endless fruit juice. The main restaurant had locals eating as the food is great and well priced. Free WiFi and a fan in the room as standard. We will definitely be back.

We got gifted an afternoon tea as a birthday gift, and couldn’t have been happier with the overall experience. The food was lovely, when I booked I mentioned that my wife and daughter were vegetarian, this was remembered as we were seated, the foods were separated, my traditional sausage roll was superb, and the vegetarian sausage rolls were delicious too. Lovely sandwiches, and superb scones, meringue, and sponge cakes, which we were allowed to take home, box provided on request, as we couldn’t manage it all. To top it off, the service was great, the young man serving had a really good manner, and a great rapport with guests and a great sense of humor, which we loved. Well done, we’ll be back for sure!

We just wanted to say the biggest thank you for everything you did to make our wedding day unbelievably magical. From start to finish, everything was perfect thanks to your incredible team, attention to detail, and the outstanding level of care you gave to us and to our guests. The food was phenomenal — so many guests told us it was the best wedding meal they’ve ever had. The service was warm, attentive, and exceptional, and everyone — even our suppliers — felt so well looked after. We couldn’t have wished for a more perfect day. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for making it so special. We can’t wait to return for our anniversary next year!

We stayed for an overnight spa break (a gift from our daughter) and it was hugely disappointing. Room: Very dated, with hairs in the bed and bathroom, bedside light not working, wardrobe and net curtain rail broken, carpet stained and worn. Cups, spoons and kettle were filthy and rusty. Replacements took 1.5hrs and the new kettle only worked if something heavy was put on the switch. Balcony was filthy, peeling paint, rotten decking, cobwebs, dirty glass and broken tiles above the window. Spa: Steam room out of order, relaxation room closed, no loungers by the pool, and children everywhere – no spa feel at all, more like a noisy gym. Grounds: Fountain full of stagnant green water, algae and rubbish. Outdoor furniture and games tatty and poorly maintained. Food: Breakfast was basic and felt like a Travelodge canteen. Overall, the hotel is tired, dated, dirty and neglected. Definitely not a 4-star spa experience, we left feeling very disappointed. Will not be recommending or returning.
Christian H — Google review
Room and furniture were a little tired. Carpet had not been hoovered as had lots of bits on it. Bathroom could also do with an update. Outside pool was nice but the edges looked a bit grubby. The inside pool was a bit confusing to get to with staff members not being very helpful. Turns out i should have been given a wrist band or a code but got neither. Asked for this at reception but they referred me back to the indoor pool... I enjoyed looking out over the water and marina from the edge of the hotel grounds.
Anonymous M — Google review
This hotel is in a lovely spot just on the edge of Lymington which is a great place to explore the new forest from. The outdoor pool is lovely and large and because it's only 1.2m deep it warms up nicely in the summer. The changing rooms for the outdoor pool are dingy, and in desperate need of renovation. I was here for a corporate event and I always suspect they give you the worst rooms on those bookings. With that in mind: my room was tired (heavily scuffed walls, rotten balcony and outdoor stairs up to room) with mismatching/missing furniture. The bed/divan was on wheels and it moved when you sat on it and there was a huge gap between the two mattresses meaning it wasn't really a king/you had to sleep on one side. The bathroom was also tired and had a rotten door on the inside from damp. There were no plugs by the bed (little excuse for this when small changes can soon provide usb points from lamps etc). Because there are tables and chairs outside the rooms, people tend to sit there after they have finished drinking - my room was incredibly hot as the windows are tiny - but strongly considered closing windows when I could hear drunken guests chatting and laughing outside my room until 2am. Breakfast is inexplicably served in a bleak canteen like space with really poor choices for the buffet and genuinely eye watering prices for cooked breakfast (inexcusable £6 surcharge for things like avocado on toast). I didn't find the vegetarian options for dinner to be particularly good quality which is disappointing when they proudly display recent awards for their food. Staff were friendly but (relative to the service for our scheduled lunches and coffee breaks) disorganised. Annoying things like never replenishing the fruit bowl (1 banana between all of us over 2 days, underripe oranges aren't a good choice) and not providing enough plates and cutlery for our party just made everything a little bit harder than it needed to be. It's a nice enough place, but very much not the quality and attention you would expect for their price.
Lizzie R — Google review
For £154 per night, I expected a higher standard. Unfortunately, the room fell short. There was poor ventilation or air conditioning, which made the space feel uncomfortably stuffy. While the room was generally clean, the carpets were worn and damaged, and there was a noticeable amount of dust - not terrible, but certainly not what you'd hope for at this price point. Breakfast was not included and cost an additional £26. For that price, I anticipated a more impressive offering. In reality, it was comparable to a Wetherspoons breakfast (without hash browns). On the positive side, the hotel does appear to offer some excellent facilities, including a pool, gym, and spa, and it’s set in a beautiful location. It seems ideal for families. However, as I was only staying for one night and didn’t have the opportunity to use these amenities, I can’t comment on their quality. They may, however, help justify the higher room rate for longer stays. If you’re simply looking for a one-night stay, a Premier Inn would probably be much better of an option. However, if you're planning a family holiday and intend to make use of the hotel’s facilities, it might be worth considering - although pack your own breakfast or find somewhere to go near by.

I stayed here for 1 night for a spa break and it was honestly so lovely and peaceful. The staff were amazing, they couldn't have been more attentive. Special shout out to Ben, our waitor at dinner, he was great! There was also a lady at reception who was so helpful and nice but i forget her name, so sorry! The food was incredible!! Everything we had was delicious. Our rooms were clean and extremely spacious. Thank you all for a wonderful stay. Xx

Been here for couple of days. It's in close vicinity of Lymington. Old heritage but very well maintained. Rooms are good, clean and tidy. Serves only English breakfast. Ample parking. A Truly Unforgettable Spa Experience! I had the absolute pleasure of visiting the spa recently with my mum, and from start to finish, the entire experience was nothing short of perfect – all thanks to the incredible team, especially Jamie and Kata. Jamie was an absolute gem from the moment we arrived. He went above and beyond to ensure everything ran smoothly, organising such a thoughtful and relaxing experience for both me and my mum. His warm, professional manner made us feel so welcome and at ease, and it was clear he genuinely cared about making our visit special. You can tell he takes real pride in his work – he’s a credit to the spa! As for the treatments – wow. Kata gave me the best massage and facial I’ve ever had. Her hands are magic! She was so attentive and in tune with what my body needed, and I left feeling completely refreshed, relaxed, and glowing. Her calming presence and skill made it a truly luxurious experience. If you’re looking for a place to unwind, be pampered, and feel completely looked after, this is it. Thank you so much to Jamie and Kata for making our visit so memorable – we’ll definitely be back!

The rooms don’t have any air conditioning. They supply a fan but it’s not enough to cool a family of 4 and it’s bolted to the wall about as far away from the beds as possible. The lack of AC makes this a very expensive stay. Receptionist couldn’t care less. Wish I’d had seen all the similar reviews before booking as would have avoided. Won’t be back.

We only had breakfast here, but the buffet was piping hot and perfectly cooked. This is actually a 'Beefeater' restaurant and the difference between this and a 'breakfast room' Premier Inn is very marked. Well worth going to.

We have stayed it this Premier Inn many times now, with family or just as a couple. It's a great location for visiting the island, right upon the Quay side & within an easy walk to the centre of Newport for exploring, shopping, dining out or just coffee or a pint. Just along the Quay is The Bargemans Rest which is great for dining or a few cold beers, wine, etc, plus they do serve far better food than the pub attached to the Premier Inn. We received a very warm welcome by the hotel staff, as we arrived tired from our journey, we checked in & entered our room which was clean & most comfortable during our stay. We were wished a safe journey & enjoy your day as we checked out, the team here are so pleasant, it just makes you want to return again & we will real soon. A big Thank for making our stay all that more better.

Omg! How can a hotel in 2025 not have AC! Our recent stay was during the ongoing heatwave and the rooms were boiling! Tiny window and a small fan blowing hot air around, very uncomfortable indeed! Rooms are tired and unbranded Tvs in the room which aren't smart! Stayed in premier inn before many times and this has to be my worst stay ever!

First of all it is important to note that this is not a 4 star hotel as indicated. The hotel staff admitted that it is not rated like other hotels according to the star system. Even though the rates are similar to 4 stars, facilities & amenities & breakfast are rather 3 stars. The room was clean & spacious but the bathroom had no mirror except the tiny 18cm round one. Regarding the bed I was surprised to learn that British King size is actually what I know as Queen size. To sum it up this hotel, despite its kind & accommodating staff, is not up to 4 star standards. So if it is what you expect be ready to feel disappointed.

The restaurant has a nautical theme, and deliciously simple, seasonal British and Scandinavian dishes shine in a wooden house adorned with nautical artworks.
Excellent food! We loved our meal here. It's not cheap, but it's worth it. Our daughters aged 10, 14 & 17 all enjoyed their meals. Friendly welcome, polite, efficient and attentive service. Food was served quickly, but with sufficient time between courses. Wine list is quite cheap considering the price of meals.

We have been in Cowes for part of the year over the last five years. This was our first visit to the Little Gloster. It was terrific. The food was excellent and the wine list very accessible. Even though a grey day being on the water is a treat. The service was friendly and relaxed. I had gravadlax and a flat iron steak with delicious chips--and I am not a great lover of chips. Lovely souffles for dessert. I thought the price quality ratio was great and look forward to my next visit.

What a delightful evening. It's a hot and sultry one so we booked to be outside.☀️🍴 Good food, good service and a spectacular sunset. Menu wise, if you want choice, you need to like fish! 🐟 The three course set menu was good value if you like/want pasta. For a non fish eating person avoiding pasta it boiled down to one chicken option or steak. Having said that, the chicken supreme was nothing like the 70's picture I had in my head and was truly delicious. 👍I recommend. £££

The location and wonderful perspective for ocean views and sunsets sell it alone.. but the service and staff should also be mentioned as they really were exceptional. Very warm and helpful, from menu decisions to cocktail options everything felt very friendly and genuine. This is reinforced through thoughtful little touches such as welcome/information book and jelly sweets left out for guests in the bedrooms. In the restaurant, I chose the lobster from their locally-sourced fresh fish options, which was superb. Cocktails also deserve a mention, with a special shout-out for the smoked martini

This is a little gem of a beachfront restaurant in a charming spot. We've been going here for years. Food was very good today whereas out can be less good than it should be for the money - or we would go more often. Service is still patchy too. Drinks very slow to arrive, as usual. Some very good staff but others seem to be there to make the numbers up. Inconsistent. Although on a sunny day overlooking the Solent it's still one of the very best spots on the island.

The bay view room that we stayed in had a coffee machine and we were also offered fresh milk. The staff were superb and couldn't do enough. Upon arrival, despite being a little early, we were presented with a complimentary coffee while the room was serviced. Everything felt so relaxing. The perfect start for our stay. Ben, the proprietor, is also an awesome chef and the meals we had were some of the best I have tasted. Absolutely superb from locally sourced ingredients. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the Gloster to anybody. We shall certainly be returning.

Seen this place on TV had to visit while at our holiday home for the weekend in Bembridge. On arrival we were greeted and taken to our table with a great view over The Solent. The atmosphere was very relaxed, while the place was buzzing with conversations all around the restaurant. A great selection on the menu supported by a special board. The food was amazing see photos, the staff were awesome and guess what? We are coming back for more. Prices were a little above isle of Wight but so was the food and service.

Lunch on a busy, sunny day at the start of the summer season may have been the reason that the service was slow, one side order of bread missed and coffee didn't come with the dessert as requested but serving staff were pleasant. Food was good but some of the small portions could be improved (£4.50 for a small dish of around 10 salted almonds and if you are hungry the smorebrod is not likely to be enough unless you have a starter and dessert). Steak slightly overcooked for rare but tasty. Great setting and potential but lacked attention to detail.

No problem parking. Check in was quick and the staff are lovely. Our room was on the top floor...really spacious and bright. The bed was very comfortable. Nice garden area. Breakfast was really nice. The food in the pib across the road was really good too. Close to the seafront and d day museum. Would like to stay again soon.

We have stayed at this lovely hotel on several occasions with our small dog. We had a room in the new garden annexe this time and it was bright, clean and comfortable. The breakfast was amazing as usual and the staff so friendly and helpful. The garden area is a beautiful place to sit and have a drink and a meal in the warmer weather. You can pay and book for off street parking or just ask for a parking permit and park on the street immediately outside the hotel.

Excellent location to beach and restaurants; all within walking distance. Free street parking or pay for off road. Fabulous breakfast with locally sourced ingredients. Friendly and helpful staff. Very clean and welcoming.

The room was clean and tidy and a nice little room. The bed was extremely comfortable and there was a fan in the room which was appreciated. The shower was lovely and the bathroom clean. The staff are friendly and accommodating and check in/check out is very smooth. The hotel is close to the seafront and in a nice location. The hotel itself is quiet and charming. The breakfast was satisfactory, tea, coffee juice etc is available and the menu has a range of options.

This is an absolutely delightful place to stay. We stayed twice during June 2023. My Aunt lives close by so this was handy when visiting her. Both rooms we had were beautifully decorated, roomy and the bathrooms were clean shiny and modern. The staff are wonderful people and both times offered to carry our bags to the room. We highly recommend this hotel and will be happy to stay there again.

Lovely little hotel. Very close to town, easy to locate. The room was clean, facilities were nice and breakfast was good enough. The staff were all lovely

Room was nice but really small for the amount we paid. There was mould around the mirror in the bathroom, the waiting staff at breakfast was quite rude. The bed was really comfy and the food was nice. But 28 hours after we left, they rang to say that they couldn't find the parking permit that was handed in with the room key (if you lose it they charge you £100, even though it costs £10 to replace). Overall I wouldn't recommend this place, if you're going to Portsmouth, stay elsewhere.

We had a lovely long weekend here. Food is amazing, especially the pizzas. Atmosphere and rooms lovely and the customer service is amazing. Wish I knew the dark haired ladies name that looked after us, she was great.

Excellent stay Great full breakfast. Had an excellent meal at the pub across from the hotel. Good old fashion customer service, such a change from the great chain run hotels.

Fabulous hotel, very deceiving when we drove up outside but parking was easy and the hotel staff were very attentive and helpful. Food was amazing , breakfast lots of choice and the meal at night was very good and plenty of it. Rooms spotlessly clean and serviced daily. Bed slightly too hard for us but over all excellent place to stay. 2 min walk from seafront and 30/40 min walk to old town Portsmouth or the bus service is every 10 mins and very cheap. Would recommend this hotel.

Lovely one night stay for my birthday. We ate at the Florence Arms gastro pub about 10 steps away which is also owned by Mercer. The hotel is gorgeous in a tiny little lane and has a great garden/conservatory restaurant and bar. Friendly efficient service and they arranged a beautiful cake from a local patisserie for my birthday for us. Also a very short 3 minute walk to the sea front. Thank you!

The Florence Gardens Hotel is small, quaint and beautiful; almost feeling like it is your own oasis away from driving down the very tight streets. The staff are personable and understanding of visitors that are new to the area and treat you like you've been coming there for years. Parking is tight, so it is recommended that guests reserve a parking spot that is yours for the time you're there. It made life a lot easier when we didn't have to find street parking.

What a gem!! Recently refurbished and definitely has the ladies touch with beautiful soft furnishings. This hotel really is of exceptional quality throughout. We stayed here with friends and were all of the same opinion, outstanding! The service was warm and welcoming, the rooms stunning and the Breakfast beautifully presented. Well done!!

I've stayed at this boutique hotel many times and love the fact each room has been decorated differently. This is not your average hotel where the room decor is plain and boring. At the Florence hotel, each room has its own character, based on that's it's actually a collection of old houses that's been recently renovated to high standard. The staff are helpful and polite and friendly. Breakfast has a selection that you typically don't see in your average B&B, such as avocado smash with poached eggs. Although they will happily serve toast and marmalade or cereal if that's your preference. What's more, it's a stones throw from the beach so an ideal location to explore the area.

Beautiful room, small but perfectly formed. High quality fitting and a comfortable bed. Delicious breakfast, all freshly cooked. Hotel is dog friendly and there is a dog friendly area for breakfast. Great location, close to the beach.
