Church
Historical landmark
Grossmünster, also known as the "Great Minster," is an iconic twin-towered Romanesque cathedral located in Zurich, Switzerland. It was built on the site of a Roman burial ground and has been a prominent landmark since its opening in 1220. The cathedral's tall twin towers are considered one of Zurich's most recognizable features and have stood for centuries.
This church is a sandstone of the town Zürich Switzerland look at it in a incredibly safe part of the city. The church is tremendous specially going upstairs. It will take about 10 to 15 minutes with a small fee. You’ll see the most stunning view of the city. We loved praying here and spending time sitting down and relaxing. It’s very peaceful, full of tranquility and very quiet. People are respectful to the history and culture.
Edis — Google review
The Grossmünster is an iconic symbol of Zurich, instantly recognizable by its twin towers. It's not just an architectural marvel but also the cradle of the Swiss-German Reformation led by Huldrych Zwingli in the 16th century, which adds profound historical significance. While the interior is notably simple and austere, reflecting Protestant values, it features stunning stained-glass windows by Augusto Giacometti that bathe the nave in a beautiful, colorful light. The bronze doors depicting biblical and historical stories are also remarkable. However, the absolute highlight for most visitors is the climb to the viewing platform in one of the towers. After ascending 187 narrow spiral steps, you are rewarded with the best panoramic view in Zurich. You can see the Limmat River, the picturesque Old Town, Fraumünster Church, and on a clear day, the distant Alps. The climb is challenging but absolutely worth the effort. Verdict: A must-visit for history enthusiasts and anyone seeking an unparalleled perspective of the city. The view from the top alone justifies the visit.

Lovely lovely church in the heart of Zürich. If you have a Zürich pass you can visit this place for free. The painted glasses adorn the places so wonderfully. It’s a serene place to sit and ease out. My top recommendations for this place is the staircase to the top, the view from the top is just breathtaking, and it is not that long of a climb. I would definitely visit this place again and take the climb in a different season just to get another breathtaking view !
Tanvi K — Google review
Iconic church that rides up over the city, a landmark that can be viewed from multiple vantage points. The church is free to visit, but to climb the steps to the top you need a ticket. If you have the Zurich card you can also climb the steps for free.

⭐ 4/5 – Iconic Church in Zurich ⛪️ 🏛️ Visit Details Nice church to visit in Zurich! The ground floor is free, and you’ll need to pay CHF 5 to go up to the top — worth it if you’d like to explore further. 🪟 Interior & Atmosphere The stained glass windows are stunning, and the building’s structure is beautiful. The view outside from the ground floor is also lovely and peaceful. It can get a little noisy since many tourists visit during the day. ✨ Overall A must-visit landmark for its architecture, history, and charm — best enjoyed during non-peak hours for a calmer experience.
Tiffany C — Google review
The tower is a waste! 5f tonwalk to the top to be held back by doors... you cant walk around outdide at all and i wish i knew this first... ruined what would be a beautiful view... this 1 star is for the tower not the church...We arrived at 10am climb wasnt until 1pm. I do not recommend the climb or spending the money... see images.

Grossmünster is a symbol of Zürich and a must-visit for its twin towers and historical significance in the Swiss Reformation. The interior is simple but powerful, and if you climb the tower, you’re rewarded with one of the best panoramic views of the city. A place where history, faith, and architecture meet.

Immerse yourself in the world of classic and contemporary opera, ballet, music concerts, and theatrical performances at the Zürich Opera House. This historic venue, which opened its doors in 1891, is renowned for its stunning architecture and rich artistic legacy. Whether you're a seasoned opera enthusiast or a newcomer to the theater scene, the Zurich Opera House promises an unforgettable experience with its acclaimed productions and talented performers from around the globe.
Beautiful opera with incredible singers and stage designs! Even modern plays were really great - can fully recommend whenever you get the chance to go. I am just a bit sad to not be part of Club Jung anymore since normal ticket prices simply are too expensive for me ... but watch out for Volksvorstellungen etc.

The Zurich Opera House is a true gem for arts lovers. From its beautifully restored historic architecture to the top-notch acoustics inside, it offers an unforgettable cultural experience. Whether you catch an opera, ballet, or classical concert, the performances are consistently outstanding. The interior is elegant and richly decorated, creating a luxurious atmosphere that makes attending a show feel really special. The staff are professional and welcoming, helping to make the whole evening smooth and enjoyable. Located right in the heart of Zurich, it’s easy to access and surrounded by great cafes and restaurants—perfect for a full night out. If you appreciate fine arts and beautiful venues, this is a must-visit.

Visited the Zurich Opera House yesterday for the film festival. The architecture is stunning, the acoustics are excellent, and the atmosphere is elegant. Every visit here is truly special and unforgettable!
Jeannette — Google review
The Zurich Opera is one of my favorites anywhere. It's a small and charming 19th century theater, with excellent acoustics and sight lines, and some of the best singers and one of the best opera orchestras anywhere. The repertory is diverse, and audiences are respectful and quiet. The location by the lake is spectacular. If you visit Zurich you really should try to catch a performance. Performances tend to sell out, so it's best to book in advance.

We had the absolute pleasure of taking part in a truly special opera tour, lovingly conducted by a kind older lady who has clearly been guiding with heart and soul for many years. Her deep knowledge, warmth, and passion for the Opernhaus made the experience unforgettable. She shared fascinating insights into the history, architecture, and inner workings of the opera house—things we never would have known otherwise. Her storytelling brought everything to life, and we left feeling inspired and so much more connected to the world of opera. This tour was not only informative, but genuinely uplifting. A must-do for anyone visiting the Opernhaus!

The Zurich Opera House is a striking landmark near the lake, blending elegance with cultural prestige. Its grand exterior and lively square make it a great stop for photos and people-watching. Even without going inside, you can feel its artistic charm from the outside.
Jubair C — Google review
Visited this place during my layover and as I visited in the early morning the place was not open for visitors. The place is very beautiful and the architecture is magnificent. They have a significant space available in the front for some events and the place itself is worth visiting.

Next to the lake and at the edge of Sechseläutenplatz - the city's largest square - stands the Zurich Opera House. An impressive building considered a masterpiece of neo-Baroque elegance, characterized by its ornate facade. The exterior of the building, with its elaborate carvings, decorative reliefs and imposing entrance, creates a sense of theatrical grandeur.

Bahnhofstrasse is Zurich's 'Main Street,' a bustling pedestrianized boulevard that runs from the main train station to Burkliplatz at the head of the lake. This 1,200-meter street is lined with upscale cafes and luxury designer boutiques, making it one of Europe's most attractive shopping streets. The shops offer high-end goods like furs, fashion, and jewelry.
This is by far the best Shopping street I have been too station street for ease of understanding. you can see the worlds best brands here all tram’s are connected from here. It’s a beautiful walk from the main station to the Lake or take a ride in the team if you don’t feel like walking. Some good eating places here too.
Ashish A — Google review
Nice to walk along the street with all high end brands, top tier private banks, chocolate and accessory shops. Of course lots of restaurants and bars too!
Pavithra R — Google review
This place is only for ultra luxury shopping, there are few other economical shops do exits bit they are slightly off to the main street and they are equally good. Zurich lake and Limmat is nearby.
Prashant S — Google review
Considered one of the most expensive retail streets in the world we decided to have a look not long after arriving in Zurich. After deciding against a 2 grand backpack we strolled around before making a sharp exit. Well worth a visit. And if you have money you burn and would rather spend it on extravagant purchases than helping people then this is the place for you.

Mountains
Uetliberg, often referred to as Zurich's local mountain, is a small but beloved peak offering breathtaking panoramic views of the city, Lake Zurich, and even the Alps on clear days. Accessible by a short tram ride from the main train station followed by a brief walk, this mountain is popular year-round. Visitors can enjoy family-friendly hikes, picnics in summer, and toboggan runs in winter.
Wonderful nature experience. Many beautiful streets. Very good walking paths. Beautiful views.

Uetliberg offers a panoramic view of the entire city of Zurich. The mountain is beautifully surrounded by nature, providing a serene and relaxing atmosphere. It is an ideal spot for sightseeing and enjoying the natural landscape.

Beautiful view of Zurich and surrounding area. Only a little over hour hike from the bottom to the top. Highly recommend
Lejmanowski — Google review
On the one day I had to visit Uetliberg, the trains were closed. There were replacement busses. It was still very convenient to get there, and then get back to the city centre when I was done. The views are breathtaking. Make it a priority to budget some time to visit Uetliberg when in Zurich.
Bryan S — Google review
We had a fantastic time here! Getting to this beautiful location is a breeze, with buses and trains stopping right there. The hiking trails are easy to navigate, and the views are absolutely breathtaking. On a clear day, you get a full panoramic vista of Lake Zürich and the majestic Alps. The whole area is wonderfully clean, which really makes the experience even better. At the summit, you can take a well-deserved break and enjoy the view. You can bring your own food or buy something from the food stand or the 'Top of Zürich' restaurant. For an unforgettable perspective, be sure to pay the small fee to climb the view tower—it's worth it! A friendly tip: remember to have some coins handy for the public restrooms!!!
Marialena M — Google review
If you’re in Zürich, Uetliberg is a must. Take the S10 commuter train from Zürich HB - it stops at Triemli if you want to start a longer hike, or you can ride it all the way up to Uetliberg station. From there it’s a short uphill walk; you should be reasonably surefooted, but it’s not too difficult. At the top you’re rewarded with a perfect panorama of the city, the lake (Zürisee), and on clear days even the Alps.
EzADivat — Google review
This is a must if you are visiting Zurich, it provides great views of the city. You can hike up to the summit or take public transport. As my son can't walk far we chose public transport. Normally you can get the train but it's not currently running although there was a replacement bus service. The bus dropped us about ten mins from the top and we walked the final section. At the top there's plenty to do, a food truck and a restaurant up there. You can also head up the tower for an even better view, it costs 2 swiss francs payable by card at the gate. One thing you need to do is make sure the transaction goes through before someone comes down or you could be charged without going through.

Experience the romantic ambiance and breathtaking panoramic views of Zurich at CLOUDS, a Spanish restaurant located on the 35th floor of Prime Tower. This elegant and sophisticated dining spot offers Catalonian and vegetarian-friendly specialties, complemented by flavorful cocktails from their beverage program. The city skyline panoramas stretching to the lake create an Instagram-worthy backdrop for your evening.
On a rather quiet Wednesday, we received excellent service at the restaurant (Kitchen part). The staff was very attentive, friendly and concerned with every detail of our comfort. The food, though a bit pricey, was of very good quality, presentation included. The view of Zurich from the window table added to the wonderful atmosphere.
Justus W — Google review
The main plus is the view of Zurich from the 35th floor - really impressive. Easy to get a reservation and wasn't too crowded when we went. Ordered iced tea but couldn't taste any actual tea - more like fruit punch. Had a smash burger with fries. Fries were good, but the bottom bun was dry. First bite seemed juicy but got worse toward the middle. Pretty average overall. Despite the fancy atmosphere, the food doesn't match the luxury vibe they're going for. Annoying that the waiter asked about the bill amount (hinting at rounding up for tip) and then asked about tip again. Found this pushy approach off-putting. Worth going once for the view. Probably better to just get cocktails, but keep in mind they'll seat you in the bar area where you won't get the same window views.
Egor T — Google review
Amazing bar with a truly stunning view: perfect spot for chilling, taking cool pictures, or enjoying a cozy evening. The location is beautiful and they offer a wide selection of drinks to suit every taste. A special mention goes to our waiter, Jaroslav, who made the experience even better. He was incredibly kind, professional, and attentive throughout the evening. Thank you so much for the outstanding service we’ll definitely be coming back! 💖

Emily is hands down the best server. Dirk is phenomenal chef. Georg outstanding manager who really knew how to set the tone. Every bite of every dish was incredible. My absolute favorite was the truffle gnocchi. However, the oysters were out of this world w the sauces it was served with. Than the salmon sashimi was impeccable. Then the fresh bread with this cherry balsamic from Germany and oil from Greece was TOOOO GOOD!!! Finally the flank steak with the chimichurri sauce was melting in my mouth. COME HERE TO ENJOY THE LIFE U DESERVE AND TO EAT AND FEEL LIKE A KING OR QUEEN
Lauren M — Google review
Clouds Restaurant is one of the best dining spots in Zurich, located in the city’s tallest building, Prime Tower. The breathtaking views from the restaurant make the experience truly special. The food is equally impressive, especially the tartare and steak, which were both delicious and of high quality. The service was quick, professional, and the overall atmosphere was clean and well-organized. Since the restaurant can get quite busy, I highly recommend making a reservation in advance. If you’re looking for a unique dining experience with an incredible view, Clouds Restaurant is a must-visit!

We had drinks at the bar. The view from the highest tower in Zurich was so stunning. I watched the city lights and enjoyed the drink with my friends. Such a nice evening spending time there.
Sangrawi S — Google review
The reception team that takes your coat was very nice. When we arrived upstairs there was a queue. As the place was not crowded at all we passed by the people to check out the situation thinking that it might be a group of oeople waiting for someone. We were happy to find a perfect table with a fantastic view. Very shortly later the waiter came and told us arrogantly that we need ti queue up. Turning around I saw another two unoccupied chairs at the bar. On the way out I went to the server and asked him why he doesn’t make the people who are waiting have a seat. The free seats and waiting people made me confused. The waiter snapped at me how many free sitting areas I saw. I told hin two so far. As a consequence the waiter called me arrogant. Arrogant I assume is to make people wait in line whereas there is space to sit down. I will never again go to Cloud Bar.
Simone K — Google review
Stopped by this bar recently and tried one of their drinks. It was really good and super refreshing. Not too sweet, with a nice balance of flavors that actually made it feel like a proper drink. The staff were super friendly and made me feel right at home, and the vibe of the place was just perfect—relaxed, stylish, and welcoming. Definitely a spot I’ll be coming back to.

History Museums
The Swiss National Museum, located near the confluence of Sihl and Nimmat rivers in Zurich, is a must-visit destination offering insights into Switzerland's cultural history. Housed in a beautiful neo-Gothic building, the museum features permanent and temporary exhibitions showcasing various aspects of Swiss history, culture, and art from the late Middle Ages to the present day. Visitors can explore an extensive collection of artifacts, paintings, photographs, and texts spanning over 10,000 years of Swiss history.
Very big museum with a lot of stuff to see! From paintings to history they have a bunch of things. My brother, who is a museum enthusiast, loved it! The tickets are very affordable and the price is worth it for this museum. It's located by the main train station of Zürich which makes it very easy to get there.

The Swiss National Museum has two main sections: the historic exhibitions and the modern cultural displays. Both are worth seeing. The museum combines multimedia elements in a way that’s engaging but not overwhelming, making the visit enjoyable. With a Zürich Card, entry is free.

Excellent experience! I enjoyed all the exhibits in the museum. I thought the Swiss Ideas section offered lots of interactive information and activities. Definitely a must visit if you’re looking to learn in depth about the history and current state of the country. They have lockers for those who are traveling which was perfect! They have great amenities such as a cafe, restaurant and modern washrooms . I got my tickets in advanced which saved time- if your in a rush it’s worth buying in advance
TravelwithShaq — Google review
Opened in 1898 and designed by Gustav Gull, this museum is the largest museum of Swiss history and culture. It combines a historic castle-like building with a modern extension, symbolically linking past and present. The museum presents a comprehensive overview of Switzerland — from prehistoric times to the modern era — through exhibitions on art, daily life, and cultural heritage.
Seokjin H — Google review
Beautiful museum with interesting expositions telling the history of how Zurich became a country and how it used to manage cantons. They also have permanent expositions as well, and it is located right next to the main train station, so it is very easy to access. There is a bar inside and they provide an application for listening audios on your phone if you do not like to read, although following what the voice is talking about can sometimes be tricky. Visual illustrations are very nice, especially in the first room upon entering. There is free wi-fi inside in case you do not have internet

A Kachelofen is a traditional masonry heater common in Switzerland, Austria, and southern Germany. It is a large, enclosed stove built from brick or stone and covered with ceramic tiles (Kacheln). The fire inside burns hot for a short period, heating the stove’s massive masonry core. The thick walls then radiate gentle, steady warmth for many hours without needing more fuel. Unlike metal stoves, a Kachelofen heats by radiation rather than hot air, making rooms evenly warm without drying them out. The ceramic tiles help retain and distribute heat and are often glazed and decorated. The Swiss National Museum in Zurich houses Switzerland’s most extensive collection of cultural history. Its castle-like building opened in 1898 and combines Renaissance and Gothic styles. Inside, exhibitions trace Swiss life from prehistory to the present, with artifacts ranging from archaeological finds and medieval art to period interiors that illustrate domestic life in Swiss homes.

Fraumünster Church, located in the Old Town of Zurich, is a historic and elegant church with a distinctive copper-topped spire. It was founded in 853 by King Louis the German and was once inhabited by female members of European aristocracy. The church is renowned for its stunning stained glass windows designed by Marc Chagall, which create a kaleidoscope of colors inside the church.
The church along the lake is very beautiful and a pleasant place. I visited this place during my layover in Zurich and it was early morning so I was not able to enter it. The surroundings have few cafes and beautiful architecture of the residential properties.

A nice cathederal that is worth a pop-in if you are nearby. It has beautiful stained glass windows and is peaceful. There is a crypt area that displays artifacts. You require a ticket to enter. It was cheap to purchase. You get an audio guide or a leaflet that comes in a variety of languages. Children and students fetch free entry. There was a small gift shop which sold some nice bits. All areas are wheelchair accessible apart from the crypt and choir area. There is a disability toilet near the main entrance. There is a hearing loop system, and guide dogs are welcome. It is free to enter for services. You are asked to refrain from taking photographs during service.

Definitely best to check the opening times before your visit, we turned up before midday and it was closed. Admittedly for a good reason as someone was getting married there. We went for a coffee and came back once open. The church is visible from multiple parts of the city. When we went in we were able to use our Zurich card to get in for free. A beautiful church, you are provided a map upon entry and can take a tour including the crypt.

The Fraumünster is a former abbey church founded in the 9th century by Louis the German for his daughter Hildegard as a convent for aristocratic women. The abbey held great influence during the Middle Ages—its abbess had the right to appoint the mayor of Zürich until the 14th century. Architecturally, it combines Romanesque and Gothic elements, with a slender blue-green spire that dominates the city skyline. The stained-glass windows by Augusto Giacometti (1945) and Marc Chagall (1970) depict biblical scenes in vivid color.
Kent W — Google review
The Fraumünster has a more slender, graceful presence compared to the sheer bulk of the Grossmünster across the river. While its elegant spire is a key part of the city skyline, the real treasure of the Fraumünster isn't visible from the outside. Its main claim to fame is the stunning set of five stained-glass windows created by Marc Chagall in his 80s, plus another by Augusto Giacometti. Knowing that, you look at the church's stone exterior in a new light. It becomes a beautiful, historic vessel for a breathtaking collection of modern art. The building itself feels quieter and more reserved than its neighbors. It doesn't have the largest clock or imposing twin towers; its identity is more subtle and is found within its walls. The atmosphere around it in the Münsterhof square feels fittingly a bit more subdued and gallery-like. It’s a place that makes you curious about what’s inside, inviting you to step in and see the vibrant colors that are hidden from the sunlit plaza. It’s a great reminder that sometimes the most impressive feature of a place is one you can't see from the street.

Fraumünster Church – A Serene Riverside Gem with Stunning Chagall Windows Fraumünster Church is a peaceful and spiritually uplifting destination nestled in the heart of Zurich, just a stone’s throw from the river. This historic church, with its elegant Gothic architecture and tranquil surroundings, offers the perfect setting for a half-day outing filled with quiet reflection and cultural appreciation. What truly sets Fraumünster apart are the breathtaking stained glass windows designed by the legendary artist Marc Chagall. These vibrant, ethereal fensters bathe the interior in a kaleidoscope of colors and narrate biblical stories with poetic brilliance. Each window is a masterpiece, blending art and spirituality in a way that leaves a lasting impression. Located near the banks of the Limmat River, the church is easily accessible and surrounded by picturesque streets and quaint cafés, making it a wonderful stop for those exploring Zurich’s old town. Whether you are drawn by faith, art, or simply the need for a serene escape, Fraumünster Church is a must-visit.

Lindenhof is a historic hilltop gathering place in Zurich, situated on the site of a former Roman fort. Visitors can enjoy outdoor chess boards and stunning city views from this elevated plaza adorned with linden trees, benches, and giant chess sets. The park offers sweeping vistas of the Limmat River, Old Town's red-tiled rooftops, and the distant Swiss Alps. Despite a somewhat steep climb to reach the park area, the breathtaking panoramic views make it truly rewarding.
A great spot to take in the city of Zurich. Easy to reach, and both sunrise and sunset are beautiful. The walk up is pleasant, can drop by cute shops along the way. Peaceful, scenic, and perfect for a quiet moment or a photo.

Located in the heart of Zurich’s Altstadt, this hilltop park is one of the city’s oldest historic sites. In Roman times, it was the location of a fortified castrum. Today, it offers a quiet green space with benches and chessboards, and a panoramic view over the Limmat River. From here, you can clearly see the opposite bank of the old town, including the towers of the Grossmünster.

Nice little place slightly raised above the Old Town. Trees for shade and quite a few benches to site on. Nice and quiet despite lots of groups of tourists coming and going. A good view of Zurich Old Town from a modest height, but not spectacular.

Zurich is a city that blends history, nature, and modernity harmoniously. The Old Town is full of charm, with cobblestone streets, medieval buildings, and courtyards. A walk along the lake is especially relaxing, with stunning views. During daytime, the place can get quite crowded with tourists, so I recommend taking an early morning walk along the river. There are also many cafes, restaurants, and stores alongside the river - so a half-day visit to the old town is recommended.

Museums
The Kunsthaus Zürich is a renowned art museum in Europe, managed by the Zurich Society of Arts and with roots tracing back to 1787. It boasts extensive collections from various artists, including a significant number of Charles Munch's paintings and the most important assortment of Monet's works outside Paris. The museum focuses on showcasing high-quality works by artists across different periods, with particular strength in Impressionist, post-Impressionist, and modern art.
We visited during Zurich Art Weekend and it was fantastic! So many great 🖼️ and also few interactive displays. Its great that they label the art - stolen / not stolen. We easily spent there 3 hours! Its worth getting ticket to all exhibitions when you have time. You will enjoy all the Picasso’s and other great paintings.

An incredible museum, with access to two two-floor buildings filled with masterpieces. We explored the main museum first and got to see so many wonderful paintings from artists like Van Gogh, Monet, Manet, Picasso and so many others, but I saw that they had the second largest Munch collection and when I asked they told me it's in the second building. Went through the underground tunnel and there he was on the second floor. I was left speechless and spent hours and hours going through all the wonderful rooms. Would definitely visit again!

Cultural jewel in the heart of Zurich - Kunsthaus truly impressed. We didn't expect to discover such a remarkable collection of great masters - Rembrandt, Dutch classics, Monet, Cézanne, Van Gogh, Chagall, Modigliani... an entire constellation of art legends. One of the highlights was a striking passage hall showcasing works by the famous Swiss painter Ferdinand Hodler. The museum also includes a piece by Alberto Giacometti, the globally recognized Swiss sculptor known for his distinctive style. The spaces are bright and spacious, making it easy to linger and absorb the atmosphere. Lockers are available for storing personal items - a thoughtful convenience. And the museum shop? A delight, as always. I'm drawn to art museum stores, and this one felt like a mini treasure hunt - full of creative finds and unique keepsakes. Conclusion: Zurich shines with artistic brilliance - a true cultural powerhouse

The Kunsthaus Zurich boasts a vast collection, divided into two sections: the Old and the Old. Some of the works are truly magnificent, and even someone like me, who doesn't know much about art, finds them truly stunning. I wouldn't be able to fully explain them, though. Whether you're an art enthusiast or a tourist, this is a place worth visiting.

Nothing short of outstanding in every aspect. I new I was going to see artwork old and not so old of many big-name artists, but the excellent way the collections were arranged and information provided on the artists etc. together with practical aspects (the two very spacious beautiful buildings across the street are connected with a pleasant subterranean walkway, there are cloakrooms with plenty of lockers, many toilets, two cafeterias, an amazing souvenir shop, and very helpful staff everywhere), all that made for a beautiful day at Kunsthaus Zürich. I thought kids would not be bored and surely love for instance an amazing LED lights and sound show, or an all-around video projection.

The museum offers free entry on every Wednesday to collections and small exhibitions, and it totally worth it. A fee can be paid extra for an audio guide. Impressive art from 14th to nowadays periods are exposed, and it could take up to 2 hours to see everything. The collections are very impressive along with the architecture of the museum building as well. Visitors are not allowed with bottles of water so I had to go up and down to the locker room few times due to incomplete guidance I received at the reception in regards the luggage rule.

St. Peter's Church in Zurich is a remarkable example of Romanesque and Gothic architecture, featuring a towering clock face and an impressive spire. As the oldest parish church in Zurich, it holds centuries of history within its walls, with parts dating back to the 9th century. The church has undergone various expansions and renovations over time, resulting in a blend of architectural styles from Romanesque to Baroque. Situated on a small hill south of Lindenhof, St.
The church is currently closed but you can still be amazed by its gorgeous appearance. It’s also famous for its largest clock surface in Europe!

St. Peter’s Church is one of Zürich’s oldest churches, dating back to the 8th century. It may not be as grand as the Grossmünster or Fraumünster, but it holds its own unique charm with its simplicity, serenity, and historical weight. The church is especially famous for its clock tower, which has the largest church clock face in Europe — you can spot it from various points around the city. Inside, the church is calm and unpretentious, with clean lines and a peaceful atmosphere that invites reflection. Unlike some of the more ornate cathedrals, St. Peter’s feels personal and grounded — almost like a secret tucked within the Old Town. It’s free to enter, and it usually isn’t crowded, making it perfect for a short, meaningful stop during your walk through Zürich’s Altstadt. The surrounding cobblestone streets and charming buildings add to the experience, making it feel like a step back in time.
Les B — Google review
You'll see plenty of churches in Zürich, but this one has a special "wow" factor if you know how to find it. My advice: don't just snap a picture from the main square. The real magic happens when you get lost in the narrow side alleys around it, like the Schlüsselgasse. You're walking down this quiet little street, and suddenly you look up—the tower is just looming right over you. They say it's the largest church clock face in Europe, and you don't truly grasp that fact until you're standing right underneath it, craning your neck back. The scale from that low angle is just incredible and makes for a much more dramatic photo. While other churches might be more famous overall, the experience of stumbling upon this massive, iconic clock tower from a tiny alley makes St. Peter's a truly memorable stop. Highly recommend taking a few extra minutes to explore its immediate surroundings.

From a distance, St. Peter’s Church in Zurich makes a striking impression, primarily due to its massive clock tower, which is notable for having the largest church clock face in Europe. The clock is certainly an eye-catcher and adds to the city’s skyline, which features several other interesting towers. While we didn’t go inside, the exterior of the church looked quite interesting and seemed to promise more intriguing architectural features and historical elements. Zurich is full of such historical sites, and St. Peter’s fits well within this ensemble, even if it didn't quite lure us in for a closer look this time. The abundance of compelling clock towers and other attractions around Zurich might make it easy to overlook St. Peter’s unless you have a particular interest in church architecture or historical clocks. It might be worth a quick stop if you're nearby and interested in its external facade and the clock, but we felt our time could be better spent exploring other unique spots in the city. Overall, for those with a deep interest in Zurich's historical sites, a closer inspection might reveal more charms that we missed from afar. However, for casual tourists, it’s a pleasant enough view from the outside but not a must-see unless you're passing right by.
Ziv G — Google review
It's a beautiful protestant church in the heart of the city. It can be approached through a mild climb which gives it an extra hint of charm. The bell tower clock is very unique and prominent . Limmatquai is one of Zürich’s most beautiful streets — running alongside the Limmat River and right through the heart of the old town. It’s the kind of place that invites you to slow down and just wander, with elegant historic buildings on one side and sparkling water views on the other. We loved walking along the river, crossing the little bridges, but we didn't pop into any shops because the rain was pretty heavy at the time and we wanted to start to head back to our accommodation. Cafés spill onto the pavement, trams glide by, and church spires rise above the rooftops — it’s quintessential Zürich. Whether you’re sightseeing, shopping, or just soaking up the atmosphere, Limmatquai captures the city’s blend of calm, culture, and beauty perfectly. The venue has been completely renovated and now hosts over 150 events annually, including avant-garde art exhibits and live jazz performances.
Fun and cute place! I loved the design, everything in concrete. The upper floor gets rather loud in the evening and they serve mostly/only alcoholic drinks, but downstairs is super cosy and a but more calm and cute, and they serve all sorts of soft drinks, warm drinks and non alcoholic stuff too (see menu pictures). A cafe and bar where you can relax and have a rest. It is the birthplace of the Dada art movement. There was not a lot to see on this front. A few artifacts pieces in the lower cafe; a small library about the Dada movement upstairs and a small exhibition area in the basement, which on this visit was based on sound. Staff were welcoming. They explained the layout and a but about the building. They, also, provided an English information sheet. You get free entry if you have a Zurich travel card. It is not really worth paying for.

If you are reading this, you probably already know that this is the birthplace of Dada, and although there is very little left of the original insides of the building (and no way of even knowing what it would have looked like back in 1916) it still felt like somewhat of a pilgrimage. You can visit the back room where the Dadaists originally held their soirees, and there is also a library of Dada and Surrealist books, as well as an exhibition space in the basement. TIP - They have currently moved to their summer opening times, which means they are closed during the week. But I contacted them via their website/email and they very kindly opened up for us on a Wednesday, so we had the place to ourselves.

Although it is not an especially impressive bridge, it is nonetheless described as the most beautiful bridge of the Limmat in Zurich. It is an arch bridge, built with natural stones. Münsterbrücke in Zurich is one of those spots you naturally end up walking across while exploring the old town, and it quietly becomes a highlight. It’s not a massive or flashy bridge, but the views from it are really lovely—especially with the Grossmünster on one side and Fraumünster on the other. The river Limmat runs calmly beneath, and you get this great contrast of church towers, old buildings, and water all in one frame. I crossed it a few times during my walk around the city and kept pausing to take in the view. It’s a great place to just stop for a minute, watch boats go by, or snap a few photos. The atmosphere is peaceful, and you get a good sense of Zurich’s charm from that spot. The surrounding area is just as nice, with cobbled streets, cafés, and small shops tucked away in the alleys. Whether you're heading towards Bahnhofstrasse or wandering through the old town, the bridge connects everything in a way that feels natural. It might not seem like much on paper, but Münsterbrücke adds a calm, scenic pause to your walk—and I think that’s what makes it special.

You can see a lot of trams going over this bridge, lot of cyclist and cars.. feeling is surreal cold breeze blowing across the lake hits in the face. You can see the tram is going to different locations cross over the bridge. Many pedestrian crossing this place people standing next to it, looking towards the lake with the ducks and the Swan swimming under it.

This spot can take good view of Zurich from both sides of the bridge. Also have many choice of restaurants, cafe and bars. Easy to get there with many choice of transportation.

Asian fusion restaurant
Rooftop dining at various locations offers a unique experience with creative Asian dishes, cocktails, and panoramic city views. Attika Bar at Hotel Bern and Sky Terrace at Hotel Schweizerhof Bern & Spa provide 360-degree panoramic views of the city, including the Parliament Building and the peaks of Eiger, Monch, and Jungfrau. Guests can relax on comfortable lounge cushions while enjoying signature drinks like Gin Gin Mule or surprise drink 566 (M.u.M.
This is my time in Zurich and I went to this bar with my friend on the very first day. It was a balmy sunny day. I had the sundowner my friend had the Paloma. Both of those drinks are very nice. We also ordered the french fries they had sprinkled some seasoning on top of that which made it really tasty. I highly recommend it, especially if you can get one of those corner seats on the outside

I wasn't entirely sure what "a la discrétion" meant. I enjoy a hearty breakfast or brunch, but after many years of staying in business hotels, I can no longer stand buffets. The offering here is a kind of innovative middle way, and actually not a bad one. The table is not overloaded but richly and colourfully laid... allowing you to enjoy your meal together without having to rush back and forth to the buffet. The quality and service were good, but the plait should not be cut too early as the cut surface was very dry. The room itself is a bit gloomy, with a rather charmless 80s look. The terrace is cool in summer.
Thomas K — Google review
Stopped in for a light lunch and couldn't be happier. We had the bao buns and a California rolls on the rooftop deck with a nice view of Zurich including the observatory and the Jules Verne lounge. When we visited the building was under renovation but don't let that put you off
Kurt D — Google review
This place had been my number one spot for years. I celebrated my birthday here, regularly came for late-night dinners, and enjoyed Sunday brunches with friends. I truly loved this rooftop. However, two weeks ago I made a dinner reservation for two and unfortunately arrived 15 minutes late. I tried to call and even sent a text message, but received no response. When we arrived, the staff member (who struggled with German) informed us that our table had been given away and offered us seats at the bar instead. Honestly, that’s disappointing. Loyal customers deserve better communication and a bit more effort in service. Would love to go back, but there’s a but…
Naru M — Google review
The place has an amazing view and atmosphere. The food is also good, I would like to try something else before giving 4 stars though. I'm looking forward to come back: the service is not too warm but polite and helpful. The menu is a bit unusual, with many original options, quite nice! Recommended probably even just for an aperitivo or a drink!
Martina V — Google review
I recently visited this rooftop for a drink, and unfortunately, it was quite disappointing. The table we were seated at was dirty, and the coffee cups they served were full of dust. When we asked for clean ones, they only replaced the lower part of the cup not the full set, which didn’t feel hygienic at all. The waiter handling the reservations was also quite rude and dismissive, which made the experience even worse. While the view from the rooftop is nice, the overall service and cleanliness were far below expectations. I wouldn’t recommend this place, it needs serious improvement in both attitude and hygiene.
Zehra V — Google review
This place is a hidden gem near the Zurich train station (a 5 minute walk). I had some time to kill before my flight and had a great meal and wine at the Rooftop. There's outside seating available too if you want to enjoy the view. They also have different portion sizes which was amazing because you can order as per appetite and/or group size. The servers were accommodating because I had bags with me, and service was fast and good.

Bag shop
The FREITAG Flagship Store Zürich, located in the trendy Zurich-West district, is a unique shopping destination. Housed in a towering structure made of 17 recycled freight containers stacked on top of each other, this store offers an extensive collection of bags including backpacks, luggage, totes, and wallets. With over 1,600 uniquely designed bags on display across four levels, it boasts the largest selection of 'Individual Recycled Freewaybags' globally.
Really cool shop, with a rooftop viewing deck (albeit view is not that great). In a slightly rundown part of the city. Highly worth a visit if you are a Freitag fan!
Mark D — Google review
The building is very unique, and as a FREITAG fan, I was excited to visit. They have a wide variety of bags and stock, though it's a bit challenging to find rare designs. You can also climb up the tower for a rooftop view of the city, but note there’s no elevator. The staff were very friendly and let me shop without any interruptions.

True to its cause, the whole building made of 20ft containers with a good view of the city from the tower. This is right next to Frau Gerolds Garten, another cool area for shopping and dinner. Minutes from the viaduct as well. I would consider this a decent attraction of Zurich.

A mecca for Freitag fans. If you are not afraid of a few stairs, the tower offers a panoramic rooftop view of the neighbourhood. The store interior shares little stories about the brand through phones hanging on the walls. However, there are no exclusive bags or anything of that sort.

Nice little hidden gem in Zürich in an area with lots of interesting places. Cool store, and the view from the top via the container tower is great.

I've loved the Freitag bags and followed them since the very beginning. Today I was finally able to visit their flagship store in Zürich and it didn't disappoint. Mountain peak
Felsenegg is a popular mountain summit offering breathtaking views of Zurich, Lake Zurich, and the Alps. Visitors can reach it from the village of Adliswil by a short drive or a scenic cable car trip. At the top, there's a restaurant with panoramic views where guests can savor Mediterranean and Asian-influenced cuisine prepared by Chef Thomas Gassner. The area also offers hiking trails and picnic spots for outdoor enthusiasts.
We grabbed the Cable car up the mountain, and stopped up top at the Cafe for some drinks and a bite to eat. So glad we did as not only was it fairly reasonably priced (considering you're at the peak of the mountain overlooking Switzerland) but the views are phenomenal. There is a park at the top for kids to burn off energy, and plenty of places to stop and take in the surroundings. Highly recommend checking this natural beauty out. We had a toddler and a pram so we didn't hike back down, maybe next time 😅

Augustinergasse, nestled in the heart of Zurich's Old Town, is a medieval pedestrian street renowned for its vibrant array of elegant bay-windowed homes, quaint shops, and cozy cafes. This charming street offers a unique shopping experience with its small independent shops offering traditional Swiss souvenirs and handmade crafts. Visitors can also indulge in authentic Swiss cuisine at the diverse range of restaurants and cafes along the picturesque alleyway.
Great place to walk around and window shop while seeing all the beautiful streets of Zurich!
Daniel D — Google review
While many visitors rush to Zurich’s Bahnhofstrasse for shopping, I found the real charm lies just a few steps away — in the beautifully preserved Augustinergasse. This narrow cobblestone lane is lined with pastel-colored facades, wooden bay windows, and Swiss flags fluttering in the breeze. It's a postcard-perfect stretch of the Old Town, ideal for slow walks, casual window-shopping, and spontaneous photo moments. Once you reach the end, you’ll find yourself by the Limmat river, where Zurich's iconic towers — Fraumünster and Grossmünster — rise in perfect symmetry above the water. The view from Münsterbrücke is especially worth pausing for.

Walking down Augustinergasse feels like stepping into a painting. This narrow cobbled lane, once home to monks from the Augustinian monastery, is now one of Zürich’s most photogenic streets — lined with pastel façades, flower-filled window boxes, and intricately carved wooden balconies. It’s quieter than the nearby Bahnhofstrasse but just as beautiful, offering glimpses of history with every step. Little cafés, artisan shops, and hidden fountains like the Augustinerbrunnen (1577) make it a joy to explore slowly. If you want to feel the old soul of Zürich, this is the street to wander — colourful, calm, and endlessly charming.

Bridge
Located in the heart of Zurich, Mühlesteg is a picturesque footbridge that offers stunning views of old buildings along the river. It has become a popular spot for couples to commemorate their love with love locks. The bridge provides a charming atmosphere and an opportunity to admire the historic architecture while enjoying a variety of international food stands and beverages from nearby establishments like Smith & Smiths.
**The Mühlesteg Love Lock Bridge: A Testament to Romance in the Heart of Switzerland** Nestled amidst the picturesque charm of Switzerland, the Mühlesteg Bridge stands as a symbol of enduring love and romantic commitment. Residing in the beautiful city of Zurich, this pedestrian bridge has become an essential pilgrimage site for couples wishing to immortalize their feelings. **A Romantic Ritual:** As per tradition, lovers from around the world journey to Mühlesteg Bridge to partake in a heartwarming ritual: securing a padlock to the bridge's metal railings and casting the key into the tranquil waters below, as a metaphor for unbreakable love. Each lock, adorned with names or messages, represents a unique bond, a promise of infinity between two hearts. **Captivating Scenery:** The bridge offers more than a symbolic gesture; it is an enchanting spot that commands a view of Zurich's serene waterways and the picturesque streets that line the banks. Couples can take a moment to revel in the surrounding beauty, truly encapsulating the essence of a romantic encounter. **A Mosaic of Love:** Over time, the Mühlesteg has transformed into a colorful mosaic, with hundreds of love locks clinging to its structure. This living display of affection continues to grow, as more love stories are attached to its weathered frame, each lock contributing to a collective expression of love's enduring nature. **Respecting the Tradition:** While the practice of love locks is embraced by many, it's important to recognize the implications this tradition has on the bridge's wellbeing. Authorities often face the challenge of preserving the structural integrity of these romantic tokens while maintaining safety for both the bridge and its visitors. In Zurich, as in many cities, the conversation around love locks balances romance with the responsibility of heritage conservation. **Cultural Impact:** The Mühlesteg Bridge has henceforth become more than just a crossing over water; it captures the imagination and fuels the tales of romance that underscore human connections. It's a place where love is literally "locked in," and the shared experiences of countless couples leave a lasting footprint of love's eternal promise. **A Timeless Tradition:** Whether etched with initials, dates, or painted with vibrant hues, each padlock on the Mühlesteg tells a tale. As generations pass, the bridge not only stands as a testament to structural craftsmanship but also as an archive of affection, bearing witness to the timeless tradition of love in the very heart of Switzerland.

Very pleasant view of the city from this bridge. It’s a walking bridge. The name of the bridge is ‘Mühlesteg’ which is over the river Limmat in Zurich, which was originally opened in 1982. There are many Love locks attached to this waling bridge and the views are amazing in the evening with sunsetting over the city

One of the most beautiful places in Zurich, the bridge itself overlooks the river and gives a mesmerizing view. This lovers bridge has a fence where people lock their love, and it was a site to behold. I visited there early in the morning and the view of the river and the skyline was magnificent. You have to be there to enjoy the beauty of this place.

Der Mühlesteg is a charming little pedestrian bridge in the heart of Zürich. Almost covered in love locks and surrounded by city views, it's a peaceful place to cross the Limmat River. The experience changes dramatically as you walk across it during the rain. The wooden planks grow slick and the sound of raindrops add cinematic feel to your walk. Watching the Limmat flow beneath the bridge is especially relaxing and quite reflecting. Even if it’s raining, there’s something calming about standing still for a moment and just watching the water move gently by. It’s a small but memorable spot in the city.

Located in Zurich, Switzerland, Zoo Zürich is a renowned animal conservation facility that has been welcoming visitors since 1929. The zoo boasts an impressive collection of over 370 animal species living in carefully designed habitats. From the Lewa Savana to the Masoala Rainforest and the Kaeng Krachan Elephant Park, visitors can explore diverse natural environments and observe animals living as close to their natural habitats as possible.
This was one of the best zoos I've seen in Europe. They have a wide variety of animals, including baby snow leopards. Very cool! They also had penguins. The place also had plenty of places to eat and relax, as well as many bathrooms. Definitely recommend.

This was a really great experience! We were lucky to come on such a sunny day. They were doing some renovations which was a bit disappointing, but it was still fun. There's a couple steep metal slides for kids, an aquarium, a farmhouse, and much more!
Mia B — Google review
Really impressed by the Zurich zoo. It's a very large space with panoramic views, plenty of amenities and carefully designed enclosures for the animals that give them plenty of space to explore and hide. The rainforest dome with its tree canopy walk is a highlight, as are the snow leopards. The leopardess had three cubs in spring 2025, and watching them play was absolutely delightful. The zoo has a great balance of large animals (lions, giraffes, llamas, kangaroos,....) and small animals (fish, insects, tree frogs), all sensitively housed and explained. You could easily spend a whole day there. The setting is hilly, so it does take some stamina to walk through. It's only 15 minutes by tram from central Zurich. A great choice for a tourist on a Monday when the museums are closed.
James G — Google review
The zoo itself it's very user friendly, it has food stands on the paths, the food is very expensive though. Some of the animals look depressed, specially the elephants. Other than that, it's a beautiful experience, walking outdoors and enjoying the company of your family or your special ones
Diana L — Google review
It was a huge zoo with lots of cool stuff. Loved that the animals had sprawling enclosures. But many of the animals were nowhere to be found, with no explanation or signage. We'd walk a mile+ with the kids to see the lions or gorillas and discover they're not there that day?? It was also incredibly crowded. We went on a random Wednesday day in August and the line to buy tickets for anyone who hadn't bought online was very long.
Shell — Google review
Nice place, you can tell they take well care of the animals, it was also clean and had many WC on the way. It is a big area to cover, better go with time (3-4 hrs if with children). It has many places to buy snacks and some restaurants with playground too. Service is very friendly. You can download the App and have a realtime map. We will sure visit again.

Love this zoo! Great place to visit if you happen to stop in Zurich! The animals habitats are so cute and it really looks like they take care of the place and animals! Tickets are not a bad price and the food court is great. The goat bridge was our favorite place!

Really enjoyed our trip to the zoo, a great day out for adults and children. Lots of great animals, we saw the snow leopards and the three cubs, tigers, elephants, rhinos, giraffes etc. Kids zoo was a lot of fun, you can climb in to a lot of the enclosures and pet the animals if they come over to you. Lots of the animals have some of the best enclosures we have seen in comparison to other zoos. Toilets were very clean and there were lots available. Even when our child was stung by a wasp, someone was available to help quickly which was really appreciated. Food was OK, some places didn't have great options but others did. Gift shop was nice, didn't feel over priced depending on what you were wanting. Would recommend booking online to avoid waiting in the queue for tickets if you have young children.

The FIFA Museum is a modern and captivating destination that showcases over 1,000 exhibits dedicated to the world of football. It offers an immersive and educational experience, delving into the rich history and global influence of the beloved sport. Visitors can explore interactive displays that highlight iconic players, historic matches, and pivotal moments that have shaped football's legacy. The museum also provides insight into the evolution of football tactics over time.
You have to wait even if u bought the zurich card beforehand. The museum is nice, there are many historical displays and interactive games for children. There are lockers which you need to put all of your belongings in but its free, they give you a special coin for it and you can keep it after unlocking. Its so nice to have a memory item like that.
Utku — Google review
As someone who doesn’t like football I wasn’t expecting to get much out of this museum but I found a lot of it pretty interesting, massively helped by how interactive it was. The museum is divided into 3 areas; 1 on the history of FIFA, 1 on the history of the World Cup and an interactive area where you can put your football prowess to the test.
Nik M — Google review
One of my favourite places during our recent trip to Zurich. On arrival you are given a locker token to put all your bags, jackets, etc in. Then it's time to enter the museum. The exhibit is great, I enjoyed looking at all the member nations jerseys, specifically looking for Scotland and Switzerland. They are all grouped by colour, a nice touch. After that it's a trip downstairs where you learn all about the world cups, play interactive games like "be a referee" and more. Then it's a trip upstairs to play some video games (ranging from the old ps1 to modern football games) and a section where you can put your skills to the test. In truth we could have spent longer here but wanted to visit other places in Zurich. There's a cafe that we never visited, and toilet facilities if needed. Since we used our 24 hour Zurich card out visit was free. I'd highly recommend.

Particularly, FIFA World Cup gallery which is a section dedicated to FIFA World Cup tournaments with all essential records of it and the best part: FIFA World Cup trophy on display. There are also lot of interactive games to play for football fans and a cool cafe with shop for FIFA merchandise. Dont visit on weekends as it gets crowded. Free locker rooms are available for luggage storage and entry to FIFA museum is free with Swiss Travel Pass.

A lot of football history, all visitors are football fans. Great collection of World Cup artifacts for both men and women. This museum is about football history especially on World Cup, not much on the player. The interactive section has more fun but each game took a bit of time and requires queuing. No bags allowed inside, free locker is provided.
Sunny C — Google review
Went just after 10 and it was super busy but not busy enough that you couldn’t see what you wanted to see. Absolutely adored the women’s section and they don’t have a bias towards men’s football which is so good to see. The video on women’s football had a great turn out too. Everyone watches women’s sports!! So much going on and to do, is definitely a great day out. Didn’t wait that long to enter and was included in the Zürich card so definitely worth the buy!
Abi N — Google review
The museum seemed pretty boring to me. I loved the Women's world cup section but that was about it. It's mostly about modern football. The museum's architecture is trying to make you feel like it's a big space but it's not. It ends pretty quick and you end up in an overpriced shop at the end. I much more preferred the legends museum in Madrid.

Beautiful view and pleasant staff. Accommodated child with Butter Spätzle which wasn’t on the menu. Very generous food portions. The perch was quite heavy on the fishy taste for my preference. Would love to go back especially when warmer to sit along the water.

Took forever for them to come take our order and then also for the food to arrive. It seemed that the staff was ignoring us and when we mentioned there being 3 bugs!!! in one drink they seemed annoyed. The food was good and the view is also good.

Didn’t try the food, but the spot and service were excellent! Perfect place to stop for a couple of beers — great view and very polite staff. Would definitely come back.

Great location in front of in river so chill for outdoor tables. Staffs were friendly and attentive. The food tastes were fine(I expected more) and it’s a bit too salty. The vibe was great. Easy to find by google map. No reservation needed.

We had an amazing experience. The food was excellent – especially the meat dishes, which were prepared with great care and quality. The atmosphere was cozy and welcoming. Everything was perfect, and we’ll definitely come back again!

The soup was very good, the Rösti with salmon was even better. The staff was very professional- not the overly zealous type, but attentive and polite. Good location on river bank.

Our dinner here was perfect. We sat at a table with a view of the river and churches, though shaded from the sun. Service was very attentive. The food was delicious and not overpriced. We ordered the white wine soup with grapes, which was tasty and unique. We also had beef and macaroni, and chicken weinerschnitzel. Both were amazing. Make sure to get the potato and cucumber salad! I only wish we had room for dessert.

George is a sophisticated rooftop bar and grill restaurant located in the heart of Zurich. Divided into four distinct areas, including a terrace with fantastic views, it offers modern international cuisine and freshly mixed cocktails. The venue's interior exudes an ultra-modern gentleman's club vibe, complete with a library and lounge chairs. George transitions seamlessly from a daytime cafe to an elegant restaurant and then transforms into a vibrant bar at night.
Amazing place, great atmosphere and really good prices for the city. They serve a really good Martini. Waiting time between ordering and being served our drinks was rather long, I guess due to the many guest there, but since the ambience was really good and even with a lot of people the volume wasn’t too loud I recommended to look over that fact. Can strongly recommend and will visit again.

A really nice pub where to go! To be honest the view from the balcony - rooftop is good but not super good, means you have a cool view but you will not see your better sun set or sunrise there ! Talking about the drinks, it is really good, the service is nice, the price is more expensive than other pub (mostly conditioned by the quality of the service and the rooftop)! I did not try the food but it is probably the same. So I would say if you wish to have a view just go, the service is high quality for the price. If not than you might choose another option 😊

High end bar and restaurant. Drinks were great. Steak was good and cooked perfectly. The place sits atop the casino and has wonderful views. Only issue was the price - in a town known for being expensive... it was very much so.

One of the classic posh bars and restaurants of Zurich. The setting is nice and the service is also excellent. The cocktails are great normal Zurich prices. The food is a little bit overpriced, but the service and the atmosphere make up for it. Definetely make a reservation cause it gets quite crowded.

Located in downtown Zurich, Jules Verne Panoramabar offers a sophisticated and lively atmosphere with breathtaking panoramic views of the old town. This upscale bar is known for its international wine selection and cocktails, making it a perfect spot to unwind after a day of sightseeing. Situated near Bahnhofstrasse, it's an ideal pitstop while exploring the city.
Absolutely amazing, the view is gorgeous, and the atmosphere was fantastic. Only downside, you can't book tables unless in a group. Otherwise, I would recommend to anyone wanting to take their partner for a special treat.
Ben S — Google review
A panorama bar accessible via an elevator located inside the Lipp Brasserie. - The staff was welcoming. - The drinks were okay; I wasn’t particularly impressed, but that might be because I don’t drink alcohol. - There is a view of Zurich; I wouldn’t call it splendid from my perspective, but it’s still a nice one. - The bar itself felt a bit small to me, which made the atmosphere somewhat noisy and made it hard to have a proper conversation. Overall, I still think it’s worth checking out if you’re passing through Zurich.
Dominick M — Google review
What a fantastic place! So unique. We visit every time we are Zurich. You will see the entire city laid out in front of you while enjoying exceptional drinks and service. Tip: The entrance is inside Brasserie Lipp. Once you have drinks, be sure to eat at Brasserie Lipp. It is truly a great dining experience. Probably the freshest Oysters in Zurich, and be sure to try their one of a kind Choucroute Du Mare! Ask to sit in Richard's section!
James B — Google review
Access to the lift to the Jules Verne Panoramabar is via the Brasserie Lipp. We queued for 20 minutes to get upstairs which is usual and may be longer. The bar is fairly small but when there you get a great view of Zurich, great service from the team and quality food & drink choices. You are not rushed and can spend as long as you like. We enjoyed a couple of drinks with a great view across the city.

Καλό! We were thankfully immediately seated and had a couple of drinks. It’s worth it but only for a short break. You obviously go there for the view. There’s rush amongst the waiters in order to serve everyone and the space is kind of narrow.

Art Museums
Museum Rietberg is a captivating destination that showcases an impressive array of non-European art within its stunning 19th-century villa, which draws inspiration from the Villa Albani in Rome. This architectural gem, constructed in 1857 for a German industrialist, served as a cultural hub for Zurich's intellectual elite.
A museum full of interesting artifacts from around the world. It is spread out over a number of buildings. It is surrounded by parkland, and you get some wonderful views over Zurich. You require a ticket to enter. You can get free entry if you have a Zurich Card, though you need to remember to show it as they do not ask. Children and adolescents also get free entry. The sign posting for the buildings is a bit rubbish. Access to the Smaragd section is at the back of the ticket area. You use the lift to travel down. This section has some wonderful exhibits. Partway through the room, there was a chair with a book, in English, about the exhibits. There is a souvenir shop, though it is very expensive. Leaving this building, you cross straight over to the villa opposite. This contains the cafe and further exhibits upstairs. The cafe had a good range of food, which was delicious, though a bit pricey. There were toilets in both buildings. These were clean. There were disabled toilets. There are exhibits in other buildings, but you need to walk through the park to access these. There is disabled parking next to 'The Coach House'. You can borrow wheelchairs from the Smaragd building. Portable stools are also available. There are two areas that are not accessible to wheelchairs, the Japanese tearoom and the Atelier.
Shelley C — Google review
This is an excellent museum and an absolute must-see. Housing artifacts from around the (non-European) world it is particularly strong on China, Japan, and South Asia. I was blown away by its collection of early Chinese ceramic-ware, for instance. As well as the main collections don't miss the "visible storage" in the sub-basement, a treasure store simply packed with amazing works. Also has an excellent cafe and nice park around the museum.
Hugh P — Google review
Museum is nice. Park is great and free. Museum Rietberg is dedicated to non-European art and is composed of several historic villas. The main building, Villa Wesendonck, was built in 1857 in a neoclassical style. In 1949, the city of Zürich acquired the estate and transformed it into a museum. Additional historic buildings were incorporated: Villa Rieter, an 1857 neo-renaissance residence, and Remise, the former coach house.
Kent W — Google review
A very good museum with some stunning artefacts and a vast beautiful garden that’s good for strolling around and picnicking (we were there in mid May when the weather is becoming quite warm). Most of the artefacts are housed in a new modern extension is largely underground. The artefacts are beautifully and clearly displayed with fairly good bilingual captions in German and English. We were there when a special exhibition on the Korean Wave (of popular culture) was held.

Extremely recommended! It's very nice, with many different sections. There are many information signs (in German only though), and also some chairs around if you want to spend some time there in the park. Very nice for a colorful walk, and also for families :)

Really wonderful garden overall, the amount of nature and plants on the outside is already huge, but the real magic happens inside the greenhouses. It really recreates climate and flora of its 3 places, with differences on the humidity, wind, temperature. We have the impression of being on rainforest or dry Africa climate, depends on the greenhouse we’re in.

This Garden is the place to wonder nature’s creation. No entry ticket needed and open throughout the day. Very nice place to feel closer to nature. Very good place to jog . There is amazing cafeteria from the university. You have also the chance to buy some exotic plants or chilies that are grown in the garden

Beautiful garden and three greenhouses. It is incredible, but free entry. Nice to walk through and enjoy flowers, trees and all plants there. There’s a cafeteria, so you can take a break during your walk. You could also take some sandwiches and have picnic in the garden. I also strongly recommend for family. Kids can learn a lot in „Erlebnisgarten“. It’s a fun to visit and stroll here and always can learn something new.

So cool! I completely envy the personal working there. The greenhouses are little enchanted gardens! Big space outside to sunbath and a small pond with ducks and frogs singing. The restaurant features a charming terrace that comes alive in warmer months, allowing guests to bask in the sun while savoring delectable dishes infused with Italian flair. The food was delicious, as I expected, caramel butter no sugar only caramel flavor - very interesting combination😋 even you can buy it to take home, fresh salad with crispy granola (nice little twist)👌. I ordered fish as a main (Zander), crispy outside and juicy inside, with risotto, and my friend tried for the first time Zürcher kalbsgeschnetzeltes, really nice one, very soft tender. Wonderful view to the city, Uetliberg, Zürich lake in the night. Video couldn’t show this( I ordered the table in advance, and asked at the window. We wanted enjoy the view. One thing I didn’t like - was fresh 🥀 roses on the table - they was withered( better would be without. I asked the waiter about it - are they very tired or sad🥀🤦‍♀️ Also they have spacious terrace outside. It’s nice the convenient, free parking next to the restaurant.

We had our wedding reception at Sonnenberg (in the Bellevue room) last week, and everything was amazing. The organisation was seamless, every arrangement worked perfectly, and the staff were exceptionally attentive. On top of that, the food was delicious, which made the whole experience unforgettable. The only small thing was that the vegetarian option had no protein and was not so filling for our non-meat-eaters, but that was the only little flaw. Thank you so much for the organisation and for helping to create such a special day for us.

Metropol is a multifaceted establishment in Zurich, offering an elegant restaurant serving refined Japanese cuisine, a champagne bar, and a cafe. The venue features an outdoor seating area under the arcades for patrons to enjoy the urban atmosphere. The extensive drinks list includes absinthe, elaborate cocktails, and a wide variety of whiskeys.
I recently attended a food tasting with my wife at the Metropol and we were impressed. The presentation of each dish was stunning, and the flavors were exceptional. The beef dish was perfectly cooked, tender, and full of flavor, accompanied by roasted vegetables and a rich, savory sauce that complemented the dish wonderfully. The roasted eggplant with a sesame crust, paired with creamy sweet potato mash, was a beautiful balance of flavors and textures. The soup was hearty and comforting, with a creamy broth that was perfectly seasoned, complementing the tender dumplings inside. Both the event manager and the chef were incredibly friendly and competent, making sure we had a great experience. Their professionalism and attention to detail stood out, making this food tasting memorable.

Always worth a visit, whether you want to enjoy champagne, wine, or a cocktail at the bar or indulge in modern Japanese cuisine in the restaurant. The service in both the bar and the restaurant is very good and always attentive. In summer, a spot under the arcades is very nice, but unfortunately, there's a bit of traffic. I don't recommend the outdoor seating on the street in the evening, as there are a lot of car posers around.

I spontaneously decided to stop there for dinner last night after running some errands in the city. Although the restaurant and bar seemed pretty full and I didn't have a reservation they managed to find me a table. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. With a drink order, I got a complimentary bowl of popcorn (very rarely that you get anything complimentary in Zurich). It was already a few months since my last visit to Metropol and I have noticed some new dishes on the menu. I decided to try GINDARA (Black Cod) with miso paste, dashi stock, and Udon noodles, as a side dish, I took Pack Choi and was not disappointed. The food was delicious, flavorful, and well-balanced. Can highly recommend it!

Hiltl Dachterrasse, a renowned vegetarian restaurant located at St. Annagasse 16 in Zurich, undergoes a transformation every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday into Club Hiltl. This transition maintains the exceptional quality that the restaurant is known for, offering a luxurious and contemporary clubbing experience. Each night has its own musical theme: house on Fridays, hip hop on Saturdays, and open format on Sundays.
Our visit to Hiltl, the world’s oldest vegetarian restaurant dating back to 1898, was nothing short of exquisite. We thoroughly enjoyed the exquisite food and the lovely atmosphere on the outdoor terrace.

Wonderful restaurant with a very pretty terrace! Enjoyed every bite. The buffet has many vegan choices and everything's clearly labeled. Only thing I'll add, if you're proud to be the first vegetarian restaurant in the whole world, then make that next step! Fully vegan, you already know you don’t need animal products to create delicious dishes. So what’s the point? 😉💚

My only minor critique is that some signage is primarily in German, but the visual power of the exhibits transcends language barriers. Whether you're a tourist or a local, a day spent here is wonderfully enriching. It’s a must-visit destination that beautifully fulfills its mission of inspiring awe and respect for the natural world.

The Natural History Museum of Zurich offers a calm and engaging escape that's perfect for families, especially on hot sunny days or snowy afternoons. With free admission and spacious, peaceful exhibits, it’s a great place to explore without the crowds or cost. Kids will find the dinosaur skeletons, animal displays, and hands-on stations both fun and educational, making it an ideal indoor activity for curious young minds. Whether you're looking to avoid the heat, shelter from winter weather, or simply enjoy a quiet, interesting outing, this museum is a smart and enjoyable choice.

very nice dinosaur collection! obviously a famous museum (movies etc.) but very cooled down (we were freezing the whole time, some of us cought a cold) and a bit worn down at some places (e.g. food court downstairs) - Id still visit but wouldnt go a second time (esp. not w/o down jacket)
Désirée M — Google review
It's a great place to visit, especially when on a budget. It's free to enter, though a donation is encouraged but still not mandatory. They have a bunch of interesting things to see rangeing from dinosaur skeletons to taxidermies. You can visit with children, it's a great activity for families with kids but it's also interesting for any person of any age. We went here on a friday at around 4 p.m. and it wasn't crowded at all! Though I must say it was sunny outside.

Wonderful collection of fossils for dinosaurs and sea dinosaurs! Great exhibition for animals from all over the world. Highly recommended for kids, adults and all animal lovers! On the bird collections were fantastic as well
Chianvern W — Google review
We decided to hide from the hot weather and found this place which is completely free. Very well maintained and have a lot of animal display. The only thing is no aircon here maybe that why is free. Recommended for kids.
Raycher L — Google review
The museum is free and that's certainly a plus, but I wouldn't come back: there is no AC, in fact it's pretty hot inside; there were plenty of children running around, screaming and hitting the protective glass. Despite the atmosphere, there were many species well preserved, however there was almost nothing translate into English - all was in German.

Amazing place and it’s free to enter. Good for both adults and children.

Accessible via a scenic walk from the city center, Seebad Enge boasts mixed and women-only swimming areas, as well as designated swimming lanes. By day, it serves as a refreshing swimming destination with light bites and BBQ options at its restaurant.
What an amazing place with incredible views. Unfortunately the day we were here, it had just snowed, so the piers were tight to get in and out of, but it was totally worth it with the views of the fountain and the Alps in the background. Highly recommend this stop while traveling around Zurich.

Love this Badi. I go to the Ladies section. The bar has nice healthy food at reasonable prices, but they have always stress. Lockers, showers, wc, etc. Nice view

Great place to have a swim in the super clean lake of Zurich and have a drink. No, the drinks and the food are expensive. But you will have a great experience in return. It is also has a relax atmosphere and not a lot / almost no tourists.

Outstanding local Sauna, with plunging directly into the lake. We’d been seeking a sauna on our trip to Zurich and this didn’t disappoint. Excellent hospitality and clean facilities. You won’t be disappointed here.

We rented an electric boat for 3 hours on Lake Zurich and it was easy, reasonably priced and efficiently run. We will definitely do this again!

Guys at the counter were not trying to help at all. Just so you know, when someone who is clearly a tourist and has a 20 kilo backpack on their back approach the facility, you dont look at their faces and say nothing. You start explaining how things work and try to help. Felt like i was interrogating your guys just to get some information. Hey and if you think the customer doesn't fit the profile, just say your exclusive nicely and be done with it.

The historic wooden badi has retained parts of its original structure since it first welcomed visitors in 1890. Visitors can enjoy clean showers, rent towels, and purchase locks for their belongings in the changing area.
This place is amazing. 8CHF to enter and swim. Lovely deck area and hot showers etc. Such a great vibe with a coffee shop at the bottom. Plenty of seats. Bring your own towel and soap etc. feels very private and safe and secure to leave belongings on the deck. Enjoy swimming in lake Zurich!

Great place to sunbathe and take a swim at lake. Towels are available for rent, I paid for the rental plus a deposit that was returned to me after turning back. I also purchased a lock to leave my belongings in the changing area. You can buy food onsite. They have floating platforms. It’s really nice. Their website indicates water temperature and occupancy. It was a great time visiting during the summer.

The Zürich Tram Museum is a fascinating destination for anyone interested in the evolution of urban transport. Established in 1967 and housed in a former tram depot, this museum showcases an impressive array of trams dating back to 1897, offering visitors a glimpse into the city's rich transportation history. With around 20 preserved and operational tram cars on display, guests can engage with interactive exhibits that highlight how Zurich's public transport network has transformed over time.
Nice muzeum of historical trams. Definitely a must for every tram enthusiast. Large collection of a trams from different era. Nearly all teams are open and you can go inside. Bar available on site. Souvenir shop with all different books and some cool souvenires. Next to the museum is a small Migros grocery store. Travek time to the Muzeum from the Zurich Main Station is approx 20 mins by tram.
Ondřej — Google review
This is a small museum with a selection of approximately 20 trams. Additionally, there is a small mezzanine level with a toy tram layout and a good view of the whole place. This place definitely has a nice selection of the older single car trams from the 20th century. This place allows you to walk inside most of the trams, and it has a kid focus. The museum has a nice gift shop too. I was hoping for a more comprehensive collection, but it is worth the visit if you like trams. There is a tram that has a stop right outside the museum.

The Zurich Tram Museum might be small but it's a brilliant place to visit. If you have the Zurich Card then it's free to enter. You are advised not to press levers etc when you go in but you can go in and out most trams. There's a kids tram that can be moved up and down some rails, a tram that you can put your hard hat on and go underneath. Definitely a great place to spend an hour or two.

The Tram Museum in Zurich is a small but very charming place that showcases the city’s tram history. Especially enjoyable for families with children and anyone interested in transport

Very nice restaurant and high quality food BUT it is pricey for the amount of food you get. That is not always a bad thing but you should just know what you are in for. We had a fantastic summer weather day and sat out on the terrace. It was very nice!

What an unforgettable experience. We had the pleasure of enjoying an excellent sushi at this restaurant, and it was simply fantastic. The quality of the food was outstanding! What made the evening exceptional, however, was the first class service. The staff was attentive, friendly, and immediately fulfilled every request. The ambiance is beautiful, cozy, and decorated with great attention to detail. It's the perfect place to spend a special evening in Zurich.

My boyfriend brought us here to celebrate my birthday and what an unforgettable experience it was! There was so much we loved about La Muña that by the end of our meal, we had already decided we’d be back again. Every dish reflected the heart and effort poured into creating it. As an Asian myself, the Prawn Dumplings and Braised Pork Belly nearly brought me to tears because they tasted just like the ones I’d have back home in Singapore. Finding food that reminds you of home in a new country brings such deep comfort. The Black Cod melted in our mouths, and the Wasabi Ice Cream was simply out of this world. We also appreciated the proactive and impeccable service from the team. Please extend our thanks to everyone who took such good care of us. Keep up the wonderful work, we can’t wait to be back! Until then, we’ll be dreaming about that Black Cod and Wasabi Ice Cream! ♥️

Saira B — Google review
The rooftop location is truly impressive. Overall, the food was very good, although the panna cotta dessert was not convincing in terms of taste and structure. I would recommend taking it off the menu. The service could be more attentive and proactive, as we had to repeatedly ask for water, wine, or other extras. Overall, it was a good experience. The prices are quite high, and the portions relatively small, so you may leave feeling a bit hungry. You are probably paying for the views

As rightly so pointed in previews comments, we had an extremely unpleasant waiter. First, he tried very much without any subtility to make us understand that we should leave soon by hovering us around and repeatedly asking us what we would like to order again, as we were still chatting and enjoying the sun on the rooftop. Then, he even asked us how long we still wanted to stay as he had guests waiting for a table. It was extremely rude and unpleasant. As paying guests, we should have been given the premium customer service, especially given the very high pricing of drinks, and not that attitude. I do not recommend and will unlikely return if such level of unprofessionalism is not fixed by management asap.

Lovely oasis on a hill with good views. Plenty of nesting birds in and viewed from the Old Botanical Garden and thoughtful planting within. Free to enter and good opening hours.

It is such a beautiful place, and the Gessner garden is such a great idea on how to present the history of medicine. The navigation through the garden is very simple, so even I didn't get lost and found what I was looking for. Some of the information about the garden is both in English and in German, which is nice to see, but than comes the Gessner garden, the reason why I visited. And there the visitor doesnt get anything else than German. There is a little spot for leaflets in French, Italian and English, but the leaflets aren't there anymore, and it seems like they haven't been there for quite some time now. Which is very unfortunate. I would have loved to know what plants am I looking at and why Gessner and his contemporaries considered them important.

Its free entrance. In summer is nicer because you have more colors, in winter is still nice because it is a nice place to walk and have a lunch. In a small space you can clima some meterse and have a small view of Zurich, without going far away. The pavillon is closed during Winter, it is small but cute. Next to it there are public free bathrooms, very clean and spacious. There is no parking at all, not inside (only for staff) not blue zone, nothing. There are some white zones for 1fr (30min), 3fr (1hour) or 7.5fr (2 hr) max.
Erika M — Google review
We were rather disappointed! We saw the advertisement for some kind of art biennale or happening and it was really "weak" - more designed for small children or school kids and less for visiting adults. The park itself is OK - a nice get away in the middle of Zurich but there are other get aways- particularly good are in the back streets of the old city just behind the Bahnhoffstrasse.

Hürlimannbad & Spa Zurich is a one-of-a-kind wellness retreat located on Brandschenkestrasse 150, offering a blend of modern relaxation and historic charm. Set in a former brewery, this spa provides guests with the opportunity to indulge in thermal baths, saunas, and steam rooms while taking in breathtaking panoramic views of Zurich's skyline from the rooftop pool.
It was a very relaxing morning. The gentleman at the reception gave us a small introduction, since we have never been there. Very friendly staff. The changing rooms are spacious and later before the Roman-Irish Spa you had a lot of space to store the bathrobe / towel, because you didn't really need this afterwards. The stations are very nicely done and you could really relax well. The outdoor pool on the roof had a spectacular view over Zurich. Next time I will definitely book a massage too.
Melina S — Google review
Worth every last Swiss Franc. It was our last day in Zürich and we wanted to unwind and relax. The staff were incredibly friendly and we had no issues navigating the spa. We splurged on the Roman-Irish spa ritual and it was well worth it. I loved being able to go to the rooftop pool, the main bathhouse, and the bistro had excellent food (we had the spinach quiche and falafel). It was such a pampering experience that we spent over 4 hours enjoying everything offered. If we are ever back in Zürich, I will make sure we return. Thank you for the fantastic experience!
Monika N — Google review
Really nice place but too many couples engaging in A LOT of public display of affection. We went to the thermal pool, rooftop pool and the roman bath. It was all quite lovely. However, couples of all ages seem to come there to lie on top of each other in the pools, pet and stroke each other, twist up together in the rest areas. As a German-American, who has never observed this much pda anywhere else, it's quite interesting that the Swiss seem to be so much into making out in public.
Sylvia L — Google review
Pro: Beautiful indoor style, water is warm 22*c I’d say. The rooftop view is a must. Was relaxing. The staff is kind, there are showers, hair dryers, 2 types of changing rooms depending on your comfort, the locker rooms r big. I personally enjoyed it for my first visit but .. cons: do not go on a weekend Friday-Sun as everyone goes. It was so full, it was lowkey cramped, ppl somewhat argued for space on the rooftop, and it’s awkward to find a spot to sit next to all those couples staring at you or being lovey dovey. Ofc expected though. - The “quiet” zone was the loudest convo place 😅. I’d really recommend going under the week. I would give it 5 stars but I gave 4 because of the overpacked crowd in all pools we experienced it was almost impossible to get a spot without waiting near a couple to leave. But I really recommend it if you haven’t been, beautiful atmosphere and I truly believe this place is worth it for the price when it’s calm and quiet! 🩷
Michelle V — Google review
Visited during the evening and was fairly quiet. Relaxing and unique experience in the rooftop pool. Enjoyed the indoor pool as well. Good surroundings. Was fairly warm and very bubbly. Friendly staff and the facilities were very clean.

Our favourite escape in the city. Simple but really refreshing. The rooftop is definitely the highlight
Soudeh H — Google review
Absolutely worth every Franc. I spent like 3 1/2 hours here because it is just so relaxing. For how much it offers I would say it is accurately priced. I opted for addition of the Irish Roman bath. This is where I really got my money’s worth. They have 2 different Steam Rooms in the Irish Roman section, and a variety of different temperature pools. The hottest temp pool felt really nice and a semi regular temp plunge after felt amazing. Between the comfort of the warm water and the nice views of the rooftop pools I can’t decide which is my favorite. Will come back here again. Luckily I booked when most people are at work so I didn’t have too much of a crowd. I definitely will come back.

Located uphill the university offers a nice view over downtown city. It was quiet and students were studying in the hallways. I had a trip to Zurich and in one of the squares, I noticed a group of young students going up in a cable car. For this reason, I took the cable car and went up and at the end I saw a huge building. I got curious and went inside the building and realized that it was a university. Inside the university, I visited the classes and talked to the students a little. It was a sweet day... I hope I can travel to Zurich again one day and visit the university(September 2012).

University
The University of Zurich is a prestigious institution with a rich history and notable achievements. It houses the world's oldest veterinary school and is renowned for its bioscience department. The main building, designed by Karl Moser, features an extraordinary internal courtyard filled with light, making it a must-see architectural marvel. The university also boasts an impressive Archaeological Collection that originated in the 19th century and currently hosts a unique exhibit showcasing works by the Greek vase painter Exekias.
Another university we managed to visit during our german-speaking counties trip is the University of Zurich. Fortunately on the 4th of September when we were there, it appeared to have an open doors event (we did found out the previous evening), so we managed to visit the booth of the different programs we were interested in, also to present to one of the lectures. This is a one-time experience, I recommend to all parents and future students who want to study in Switzerland.

This was a pretty neat place. It’s pretty much just a college. The coolest thing about this place to me was Einstein’s locker, which is very small. They decorated and everything. But other than that, probably not worth the hype. However, right outside the building is an amazing photo area and it’s right next to the polybahn.

During my recent city tour in Zurich, I had the opportunity to visit the University of Zurich (UZH), and it was truly an enlightening experience. Established in 1833, UZH is Switzerland’s largest university and one of the top-ranked institutions in Europe. The campus offers an impressive blend of history, architecture, and academic excellence, making it a unique part of Zurich’s vibrant educational and cultural landscape. Highlights: Stunning Campus Architecture: The university’s buildings are a blend of historical charm and modern design. The main building, with its grand architecture and statues, stands as a testament to the university’s long history. I was particularly struck by the neo-Gothic style and the peaceful courtyards scattered across the campus. The Views: As I walked through the university grounds, I was treated to breathtaking views of Zurich’s skyline, the Swiss Alps, and the surrounding landscapes. The location on the western edge of Zurich offers some of the best vantage points in the city. Cultural and Historical Significance: The university is not just an academic hub; it also has a rich cultural and intellectual history. It's home to several Nobel laureates, and the faculties of medicine, law, and economics have an excellent reputation. Walking around, I could sense the academic atmosphere and the legacy of notable scholars who have contributed to the university’s renown. Art and Museums: The UZH campus is also home to several museums, including the University of Zurich Museum, which showcases fascinating exhibits on natural history, art, and science. I highly recommend a visit to those interested in learning more about the academic and cultural heritage of the institution. Accessibility and Amenities: The university campus is easily accessible from Zurich’s city center by public transport, with tram stops and bus routes nearby. There are also cafes and quiet spots within the university where visitors can relax and enjoy a coffee while soaking in the surroundings. Tips for Visitors: Take a guided tour if you want to learn more about the university’s history and its role in the city’s development. Explore the surrounding area, as the university is located close to Zurich’s picturesque Lake Zurich and botanical gardens. If you're into photography, don't forget your camera – the views and the campus itself are photo-worthy! Conclusion: The University of Zurich is not only an academic powerhouse but also an architectural and cultural landmark. Whether you're a student, a history enthusiast, or just visiting Zurich for the first time, a visit to UZH is a must. It offers a unique glimpse into the intellectual heart of the city, making it a memorable stop on my city tour in Zurich.

The University of Zurich is known not just for its academic excellence but also for its impressive architecture. The campus features a mix of historic and modern buildings, making it a beautiful place to explore and admire.

Stunning Views of Zurich from the University of Zurich The University of Zurich offers one of the most breathtaking views of the city. Nestled on a hill, the university provides a panoramic vista that beautifully showcases Zurich’s skyline, with the serene lake in the distance. The easiest way to reach this vantage point is by taking the Polybahn, a charming funicular that adds a touch of adventure to your visit. The quick ride is both convenient and scenic. Once at the top, the view is absolutely worth it, offering a tranquil escape from the city bustle. It’s a perfect spot for reflection or capturing stunning photographs. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Zurich!

Wonderful architecture. Great lighting solutions through natural light from windows and beautifully designed lamps. Rounded forms and warm colours help improve the learning experience further. Thank you.

Function room facility
The Landesmuseum Zürich Auditorium Willy G.S Hirzel is housed in a 19th-century stone building near the train station and offers a comprehensive look at Switzerland's history. The permanent collection covers the country's diverse past from the Middle Ages to modern times, delving into topics such as banking secrecy, neutrality, foreign migration, and women's rights. Visitors can explore interactive and well-presented temporary exhibitions while enjoying amenities like easily accessible toilets and provided lockers.
Went for the Illuminarium Christmas market. Once inside the courtyard there are many food and drink booths. There is a sit down restaurant on site, a club area and a paid light show.

Went to the newly opened Illuminarium and was so great. Great selection of food and drinks and vibe.

We spent 4 hours in the museum to explore everything. Temporary exhibitions are interactive, well presented, and informative. Toilets can easily be found. Lockers are provided upon buying a ticket. It would have been more efficient for indicators (posters) to be more visible. We originally went to see the "Tales from the Alps" temporary exhibition but went at the wrong part of the museum. So we spent two hours on other expositions. In the end we were approached then guided by the museum staff. The castle is huge and 10000% worth the visit. Rooms are splendid and items as well as facilities are well-maintained. I recommend to take the day off to visit this one. There is also an excellent coffee shop and souvenir shop to close your visit.

I visit the Landesmuseum regularly with my friends. The museum is always entertaining, even when I come on my own. It's a great place to spend a rainy day. They often have a range of temporary exhibitions for movies, history, women's rights and what not. The exhibits are sometimes interactive which makes it a great pleasure to go with kids to.

Went to the Illuminarium show before Christmas - the lights are beautiful; the story this year was rather poor.

It's just ok. I guess it's beacuse Switzerland was always neutral! It's basically a museum of the Swiss constitution with many interactive experiences! The gift shop is amazing . I brought myself a swiss army pen knife right from the source! The cafeteria is also good. The courtyard is massive and extremely beautiful!

Landesmuseum is a great place to learn about Switzerland and the Federation. It offers various presentation/rooms about different historical eras. I enjoyed it very much. I suggest to allocate enough time to visit the whole museum.

Beautiful museum with lots of different exhibits. Currently Baroque period has a special exhibit. I also learned from the History of Switzerland and the Anne Frank Exhibit.
