Cafe
Bar
The Basement is an underground restaurant in Yangon that has a dive bar feel to it at first, but later turns into a small nightclub with DJ music. The menu focuses on fresh ingredients sourced from the local market every morning, and they have a commendable list of classic cocktails.
Nice little bar in Yangon's Chinatown with awesome music mix & great sound system. Food: The beef steak & pork chops are highly recommended. Overall: worth a visit when you are in the vicinity...
Dan T — Google review
Basement Bar delivers a hybrid bar / house party / nightclub experience the likes of which is uncommon to the Yangon nightlife scene. As the name suggests 'Basement' is located 1 floor below its ground entrance. Coming in from the street entrance the walk past a small corridor and into the bar below is an exciting experience in and of itself. I went on a Saturday night and there was a DJ playing. The bar was pretty busy but started to kick off from about 10:00pm. On another Saturday night there was a live band playing mostly Burmese songs. Basement has a distinctive 'H' design where the DJ was in the right side and patrons were in the left side room. I feel that the bar could make more use of its space and perhaps include high stools and/or tables in the DJ room as it was open and unused space making the other room packed. Also, I feel that some bar stools at the bar would be a welcome addition since there were none there, and, at 10:00 pm on a Saturday night seats are much needed. In the absence of bar stools, lone patrons really have no option on where to sit as the seats and tables generally cater to group arrangements. I ordered a Myanmar beer for MMK1,500. This was served in a plastic cup. I feel that the plastic cups take away from the bar experience and glasses would have been better. The bar has only one toilet, given the amount of patrons, more toilets would be welcomed All in all, I believe that if and when licensing restrictions on opening hours are relaxed, the Yangon nightlife culture expands and if a few improvements (such as those mentioned above) are made, then Basement Bar will surely offer a top class underground bar/nightclub experience.
AJ M — Google review
Not expensive, reasonable cocktails from 4000 kyats, nice vibe and chatter. Friendly service too. Please, please, please: stop the smoke! We had to leave, it was just too smokey to stay for more than 15 minutes. If that's the local culture, then so be it, but for the sake of the health of your visitors, please install extractor fans or stop smoking in a confined space. It's not good for your employees health who work in this environment all day and night.
Ian B — Google review
You never forget a first. It was our first beer in Myanmar after a 36 hour trip. Came down and realised we hit the jackpot. Because if anything says Good night with a capital g, it's a nice environment, nice smiling hosts some nice bites and a tall pitcher of cool brew. Came there twice more and always left in a good mood.
Urban L — Google review
Underground bar - low ceiling, dark, smoky and very loud bands. Have to be the special kind of people looking for such places in order to enjoy it fully. Live music over weekends, usually local rock band. Beer in plastic cups or bottles, cash only
Yassen T — Google review
Very nice place to hang out with friends. Luckily we ended up with live band and we got great time. Price is very reasonable and foods are also above the average. Definitely we will go back there when we get a chance.
Gorden L — Google review
This place was pretty terrible. Music was waaaay too loud, and not that great tbh. The service was also kind of trash—asked three times to get the bill before we finally had to go to the front to force our money upon them (so that we could escape and save our ears from bleeding as quickly as possible).
Daniel J — Google review
This place is actually really badass. Great night club vibe with a great DJ. If not for the 11pm curfew I could see this becoming one of the pioneering bars in the Yangon night scene. Westerners welcome.

Nestled in the heart of Yangon, the Shwedagon Pagoda stands as a breathtaking testament to Myanmar's rich cultural heritage. Towering at 99 meters and adorned with an impressive 11 tons of pure gold, this historic Buddhist temple is not only the oldest pagoda in the country but also one of the most revered religious sites globally. Dating back over 2,600 years, it houses sacred relics from four past Buddhas, including strands of hair from Gautama Buddha himself.
Probably one of the most best experiences I had in Yangon, visiting the Shwedagon Pagoda. Pictures online don't capture how truly majestic and magnificent this structure is. The way it glows in the daytime or at night, will simply capture your attention everytime.
Steve — Google review
The Shwedagon Pagoda is Myanmar’s most sacred Buddhist site, a 112 meter tall golden stupa in Yangon. It was constructed 2,600 years ago which is now the oldest Buddhist stupa in the world. Houses relics of the past four Buddhas, including eight hairs of the current Buddha, making it a pilgrimage site of global importance. The pagoda complex is adorned with thousands of gold plates, diamonds, rubies, and other significant stones. We were so lucky that it was sunny the day we went since it is rainy season in Yangon and it was raining most of the time while we were there. It was scorching hot that day, we cannot stay for more than an hour to see the huge complex. I was only able to take few photos as we were both melting and the tile floor can get very hot, I was walking like a kangaroo on barefoot. No footwear allowed upon entering. I was in awe with the beauty and history of the pagoda and other temples. Truly thankful to be able to see this complex for once in my life travels. #labonitaviajera #iamkbonita #shwedagonpagoda

The place is huge and very impressive. The ticket is 25000 and you have to pay in cash and ATM is only inside(!), so you can’t get inside unless you have cash. Girls who give tickets won’t let me in, I was lucky a guide helped me P.S. the ticket says that the price is 10000, so not about legitimacy of their posters

The Shwedagon Pagoda is the most sacred Buddhist pagoda in Myanmar, as it is believed to contain relics of the four previous Buddhas of the present kalpa. It is also known as the Great Dagon Pagoda and the Golden Pagoda, is a gilded stupa located in Yangon, Myanmar. The stupa is made of genuine gold plates
CK C — Google review
Standing proudly over Yangon, the Shwedagon Pagoda is truly a sight to behold — shimmering in gold under the sun and glowing beautifully at night. 🕌✨ Walking barefoot around its sacred grounds, you can feel the deep spirituality and peaceful energy that fills the air. Locals come to pray, light candles, and offer flowers, while travelers like me can’t help but be amazed by its timeless beauty and rich history that dates back over 2,500 years. Whether you visit at sunrise or sunset, the view is absolutely magical. 🌅💛 A must-visit when in Myanmar — the Shwedagon Pagoda isn’t just a landmark; it’s an unforgettable experience of faith, culture, and serenity.
Jonahs T — Google review
Myanmar 🇲🇲 largest temple complex dating back from 1346AD. Many beautiful temples, pagodas and other buildings to enjoy. Lots of monks walking around. Free map and water stations with entrance price MYK 25k. Marble flooring is very cool on your bare feet. Pro-tip, be respectful and wear trousers or they will ask you to wear a local style sarong. Visiting here will be a lifetime memory you will never forget 🙏
Paul B — Google review
The Shwedagon Pagoda is without a doubt the most iconic and sacred site in all of Myanmar. Towering majestically over Yangon, this golden stupa is not only a religious monument but a symbol of the nation’s spiritual heart and cultural pride. From the moment you arrive, the atmosphere is deeply moving. The pagoda glows with a brilliant golden hue, especially breathtaking at sunrise or sunset when the light dances across its gilded surface. Believed to enshrine relics of four Buddhas, including strands of Gautama Buddha’s hair, the site holds immense spiritual significance for Buddhist devotees. The complex itself is vast and filled with richly decorated shrines, prayer halls, and smaller stupas. Every detail—from the ornate carvings to the flickering candlelight —reflects centuries of devotion and artistry. The soft chanting of monks, the scent of incense, and the sight of locals and pilgrims in prayer create an atmosphere of deep peace and reverence. Shwedagon is not just a place to visit—it’s an experience to absorb. Whether you're there for spiritual reasons, cultural exploration, or simply to admire its architectural splendor, the pagoda leaves a lasting impression. It is a must-see landmark that captures the soul of Myanmar. The Shwedagon Pagoda is located on Singuttara Hill in Dagon Township, Yangon, Myanmar. Towering over the city, it can be seen from many vantage points, especially near Kandawgyi Lake. To reach the Shwedagon Pagoda, tourists can take taxis or buses from downtown Yangon, such as Line 8 or Line 11. While buses stop nearby, the easiest and most convenient option is by taxi, which typically takes about 15–20 minutes. There are four main entrances: South, West, North, and East. The southern entrance is wheelchair accessible and includes an elevator. International tourists are required to pay an entrance fee of approximately 10,000 Kyat. Opening hours: Daily from 4:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Things to know before visiting: Visitors must dress appropriately, wear long pants or a skirt that covers the knees and a shirt with sleeves that covers the shoulders. Avoid tight or revealing clothing. Shoes and socks must be removed before entering. Best time to visit: Early morning or evening—to enjoy the cool air and stunning light, especially during sunset when the golden pagoda gleams against the sky. It’s customary to walk clockwise around the pagoda, refrain from loud conversation, and avoid pointing your feet at sacred objects. There is a tourist service center, and inside the museum, you'll find displays of religious antiques and historical exhibitions.

The club plays a mix of EDM, Top Hits, and party anthems, making it an ideal place to let loose and have a good time with friends. I was there on the night that Thingyan 2019 (the Myanmar water festival) started and it was a night to remember. Great atmosphere, packed with people, lasers, and good beats to dance to. My first night in Myanmar!

Too loud music, crowded and frankly not worth it, if you are looking for a nice night out (that is, without house music and strobe lights). On the other side, one looking for professional escort will definitely find something here. Just be careful. Should be safe inside, it is full of security

Roof Alchemy Rooftop Bar in Yangon is an exceptional spot with stunning panoramic views of the city. The cocktails here are true works of art, beautifully crafted with thoughtful presentation and unique flavor profiles. The ambiance is stylish and relaxing, making it a perfect place to unwind. While the cocktail prices are higher than in an average bar, this is far from an average experience—it’s a special treat worth indulging in. I had a fantastic time and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for an elevated night out.

You can have specific cocktails here, a bit expensive though. Please dun try Phat Thai here. Seems like they dun know what it is and it is just like normal fried noodle except bean sprouts included. Food is very normal and nothing special. Portion is very little compared to price. Snail soup is only one thing which makes me feel delicious. Drinks are also expensive. But staffs’ service is good luckily. But you can see very beautiful sunset here.
Nyein W — Google review
My first time visiting this lounge. The customer service and hospitality of the waitress are on some level. I enjoyed their service and clever explanation to menus. Or maybe because we are the celeb table? The decorations are good also the retractable roof. We often ask them to roll back and roll forward, because when there is rain and when it's not rain it's getting hot. And they carefully served as we wished for. The drinks, the cocktails are really great. Aslo the price is high. Menus prices are spicy. Got some more money before you come! Whatever, for sometimes happiness, let's make it worth it. The sound system and the music is a little weird to me. The volume is not stable. Sometimes it get too low, sometimes it's getting higher. I recommend the playlist also need to be active and popular or club music. Sad thing is I don't remember what I drink that night. Over all the food, drink and service is great.

Shop 'til you drop.. if they have 1 special halal restaurant then i'll give 5star.. other than that it is okay.. u can find lot of pastries shop here.. love it!!
Anis I — Google review
Bit of a crazy place to shop but has a bit of everything from a supermarket and mobile phones to absolutely everything in between. Don't decide what to eat till you have been to the top floor. Back to Myanmar Plaza after two years, more shops and restaurants, still looking new and clean. Still the cursory glance in To any bags after you've walked through the security arch the each entrance.
Sam M — Google review
The most convenience place for family as many fashion shops, furnitures and the large electronic device showrooms and sales, Spa.& beauty centre, many foods stalls and famous restaurants, many rooftop bars and restaurant at 5th floor, Kids playground but no movie therrater in it. It is 4 storey shopping centre.

This bar offers a captivating blend of sounds, lights, and music that creates an immersive atmosphere for those who appreciate the progressive and alternative scenes. It's a haven for night owls looking to enjoy drinks and socialize until dawn. While it tends to be quieter on weekdays, special events bring the energy alive with vibrant crowds.
It is a very good place. The music is not loud but gradually increases depending on the time. Food is good and quick. A bit expensive and fancy shop. But enjoyable time to time.
Zawmyo L — Google review
It’s a nice place, rather quiet on weekdays but if they have events then it’d be really lit. So if you’re a fan of techno, go for their event specific nights otherwise you might be disappointed. Shisha is good, service is good, food is good. There’s other foreigners there so you won’t feel too out of place here. Liberal place. Stay safe !

Good spot if you love clubbing. Shisha is available there. Good music. Love the DJ. Sound system is excellent. Security system is perfect. Worth a try!
Arthur A — Google review
It has the best sound and light system. International standards. Excellent collection of songs and DJ knows how to make the crowd crazy. By far the best club in town. Crowd starts coming after 11pm. Sometimes there is entry fees and sometimes no. Better to check their FB page for more updates and details.
Lavish M — Google review
Been there on Thursday night not many people but still half of the club were occupied. Entrance fee a bit expensive, it comes with one drink you can choose soft drink or alcohol. DJ was good at mixing songs. I believe it will be very happening during weekend.
Raymond — Google review
Empty on weekdays. Ordered drinks at the door staff out number guests. Ordered drinks and took 15 minutes... Edit: Empty on a weeknight but the drinks are good. Staff turn out to be super friendly and helpful. Reason it took so long to serve the drink is because my drink was actually the Godzilla of deinks.
Russell J — Google review
entrance around 10-12 usd. for this price you get a small beer in can. which is not the worst... problem is that you can sit only in the far bar for this price but you are not allowed to take a table (they font tell you that before) so when someone else comes - the waiter comes and in a non polite way asks you to leave the table. for those who likes terrible noisy places with a bad service - walla, you are wellcome.
Dudi W — Google review
Went with a friend and availed of the Jaeger set at MMK80,000. The music was a good audio-visual experience and had several DJs playing different sets over the course of the night. The staff were attentive and the club itself has a great charm to it. An ideal place to go to end the night, probably after having a few starter drinks at nearby bars such as Harry's, After 8 or Eclipse.

Look for the neon sign at street level, as the lift is situated here. There's a large, open area upstairs, and plenty of tables.
