Fresco's Fish and Chips is a popular spot located in the lively Kensington Market neighborhood of downtown Toronto. They take pride in using high-quality oil and top-notch fish, carefully selected for its consistent quality. The traditional batter is made with wheat flour and yellow corn flour, creating a light and flavorful coating that doesn't overpower the fish. Customers can choose between a classic tempura batter or an extra crispy salt and malt vinegar Miss Vickies chips-inspired batter.
The food was incredibly fresh and delicious — especially the fish & chips! I highly recommend getting it with Shrimps. Our server, Tom, was amazing. He kindly guided us through the menu and even brought us a new item to taste, which was fantastic. I was so impressed by how he asked customers for feedback and actively spoke with the manager about improving both the food and the service. It truly showed how much he cares about what he does!

Fresco’s Fish & Chips at 201 Augusta Avenue in Kensington Market is a beloved Toronto spot for classic fish and chips. Known for its light, crispy batter and fresh fish options like halibut, haddock, and cod, the restaurant offers generous portions served with tartar sauce and coleslaw. The fries are substantial and freshly cut. The Beatles-themed decor adds to the casual, welcoming atmosphere. With a menu that includes poutine, Po Boy sandwiches, and vegan options, Fresco’s caters to a variety of tastes. It’s a must-visit for fish and chips enthusiasts in Toronto.

What a gem! Tried Fresco’s Fish and Chips for the first time and it completely exceeded our expectations. Every bite was fresh, crispy, and full of flavor. The seafood platter was loaded and so satisfying, and you can tell everything is made with care. The vibe is warm and inviting, and the team goes above and beyond to make you feel welcome. Can’t wait to come back — easily one of the best fish & chips spots in town!
Seza T — Google review
We saw this place in Kensington Market and decided to give it a try since they had both poutine and fish & chips. The service was very friendly and helpful, and the food ended up being absolutely delicious! The prices were reasonable for how much food you got and this ended up being one of our favorite meals in our visit to Toronto.
Zane M — Google review
Fresco’s Fish & Chips in Kensington Market really lives up to its reputation. I tried the haddock, cod, and halibut — all were perfectly fried with that signature Miss Vickie’s–style extra crispy batter. The fish was fresh, flaky, and not greasy at all. You can tell they care about quality because even the oil blend they use is lighter and doesn’t leave that heavy feeling after. The hand-cut fries were golden and well seasoned, and their poutine is worth a mention — rich, cheesy, and comforting. The atmosphere inside is cozy with Beatles memorabilia and indie music in the background, making it feel super laid-back and fun. They also have vegan options, which is a nice touch in Kensington. Plus, everything here is Ocean Wise certified — a small but meaningful detail for anyone who cares about sustainability. If you’re in Kensington Market and craving proper fish and chips, this is the spot. Casual, affordable, and done right.
Kongphop A — Google review
Delicious comfort food! The poutine was rich and hearty, with generous cheese curds and tender smoked meat on top — absolutely satisfying. The fish & chips were perfectly crispy on the outside and tender inside, served with golden fries and fresh coleslaw. Great portions, great taste — definitely worth a visit if you’re craving local favorites done right
Alexandre L — Google review
I ordered delivery, the food was good and well cooked, the fries came a bit soggy but that was expected as it was delivery but we're still good. The fish was good as well and I was happy to see tartar sauce for both my orders(BOGO offer). The coleslaw was also good and I would order/eat here again.
Sebastian K — Google review
Stopped in on a whim to try their Cod Po Boy and I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food. The manager, Tom was very welcoming and it was one of my best food overall experiences in Toronto. Great food, great service and at a more than fair price. You can't ask for more!

Fish & chips restaurant
Seafood restaurant
Sea Witch Fish and Chips is a popular casual spot on St. Clair West that offers a Canadian twist to the classic fish 'n' chips by serving it with poutine. The menu features a variety of fish options including haddock, cod, halibut, trout, and pickerel. What sets them apart is that their chips are fried in beef drippings.
This restaurant, which originated from the old Penrose’s on Mt. Pleasant road, has consistently served the best fish and chips in Toronto, and perhaps anywhere. I’ve travelled extensively in the UK, and I’d say these match up with the best over there. The Halibut is worth the extra cost in my opinion. Enjoy!
Gavin W — Google review
My partner and I ventured out during the biggest snowstorm of the season to try out Sea Witch Fish and Chips, which had come highly recommended from some friends. Who wants to stay home and cook when the weather is so bad, when you can manage to get out and enjoy some comfort food. We were able to get parking on a side street and walk to the place. This is a really cool little diner, with a definite retro feel about it. The bad weather ensured that we got a snug booth for 2, as there were only a handful of (had to be local) customers inside. Upon entering we were greeted with a friendly welcome and directive to seat ourselves at whatever booth we’d like - I assumed he was the owner/chef. We were able to hang our jackets on the end of our “booth’ and have a look at the menu. The menu is straightforward and simple, presenting the same line up of fish and chips, double fish and chips, fish sandwich or just fish, for each of the four standard fish offerings: Haddock Halibut, Pickeral and Trout. There’s a Weekly Special Option, which this week was Ocean Pearch. Also available are Haddock Cakes, sub-ins of poutine or onion rings, a Kid’s menu, Witch’s Brew (house chowder), and “Bits and Bobs” list including slaw, gravy, curry sauce and a special Horseradish, Garic, Dill Dip. For libations, there is a short list of local craft beers and cocktails, cider and wine. I opted for the Haddock and chips, paired with a cold can of Woodhouse Nordic Pale Ale while my partner had the Halibut and chips, and a can of Lost Craft Old School Pilsner. We also ordered the Slaw, which was more than enough for the two of us. We also had two large glasses of water at the table. We could watch the chefs prepare our meal in the open kitchen that we walked past to get to our booth. The golden, crispy fish with a mountain of chips arrived piping hot with our slaw and beers, delivered to us by our lovely server Grace. My Haddock was very good, but not as “tender” as the Halibut my partner ordered. But this is exactly what would be expected of these two fish species, hence the higher price for the Halibut. Both outstanding. Chips were the large, chunky kind, betraying the pleasant fact that they must be made fresh on site from whole potatoes. It was all very delicious and filling. Our slaw was a welcome contrast on the side. The fact that the meal was piping hot, and stayed hot, ensured that the fish and chips never tasted heavy and oily. Our beers and waters were the perfect pairing. In summary, a fun little spot when you have that hankering for well-prepared and authentic Fish and Chips. This is their only specialty, not the from-the-bottom-of-the-freezer fish and chips that so many places serve. To be honest, we could have ordered the Two and One as there was so much food – two pieces of Fish with the Chips shared between the two of us. But who really wants to share their chips. We will be back with our friends I know it. Maybe have some chowder. And maybe on a less wintery evening….
David B — Google review
We were a table of 3, walk-in, on a Friday evening. We ordered the 2and1 daily fish, and a kids order. The restaurant has a very rustic/cozy feel with chains and pictures evoking a very maritime-like atmosphere. The booths are repurposed church pews. The entire dining room is filled with hardwood furnishings. The service was very good and attentive . The fish was excellently prepared. Light and airy on the inside, crispy and perfectly golden on the outside. Thee chips were thick cut and incredibly crispy. We did not order any drinks or additional sides. Altogether, it cost about $50 after tax and tip. All-in-all, a very good casual dining experience.
Victor — Google review
Extremely delicious fish and chips. The batter was light and crispy, everything was well seasoned. We had the halibut, the haddock, onion rings, poutine, and slaw. We enjoyed everything, especially the halibut. It was so meaty and for us worth the extra cost. Definitely recommend getting the horseradish sauce on the side. The restaraunt has a really cool vibe. They have some coffee table books by the tables to scan through while waiting for the food, one being Where's Waldo. We had a lot of fun hunting him down.
Josh D — Google review
This restaurant has always been mentioned in Toronto Life magazine so I’ve decided to give it a try. The place is small but clean. The decorations are interesting, mostly from magazine about how people rate the place. It’s along St Clair Avenue so definitely no parking available… good thing is there’s a Green Fee parking around the corner. It’s the same as any other fish and chips restaurant but I’ve tried other places like the one in Port Perry, that ones much better! My mistake was that I ASSUMED THAT Two+One on the menu meant Three pieces of fish plus French fries…. Tsk Tsk Tsk it wasn’t! I was wrong and felt like an ass for assuming the obvious. I got 2pieces of fish and fries for an enormous price of $55.00 If anyone is looking for a nice fish and chips resto, good luck!
Marie D — Google review
Really well portioned. Flavour was delicious and fries were decent. Highly recommend visiting sea witch and seeing for yourself
Konstantinos K — Google review
Great spot for fish and chips! The service was amazing. For two people, only one person needs to get the chips and the other can get just the fish. They are very generous with the chips. Coleslaw was yummy too and portion size is enough for two. As far as the fish, it was great but a bit oily and heavy on the batter. One of the better spots in Toronto but not the best.
Wilson H — Google review
Smashing IT! Why did I wait so long to visit this little gem in the heart of St. Clair? The fish and chips were amazing. The fries are cut in a unique way, so they're thick and hardy. Try not to get to full on the fries, or you'll be wobbling out like me, LOL I so appreciate the malt vinegar! Love the fish it's fresh, and the batter is light and very crunchy. Love the decorum of the place as well. Amazing and friendly customer service!

Olde Yorke Fish & Chips is a renowned British-style pub in Toronto that has been serving up delicious seafood dishes for over three decades. The establishment has a rich history, originating from take-out shops in England during the 50s and expanding to its current location on Laird Drive in Toronto since 1997. The restaurant prides itself on offering the best fish and chips with quality service in a relaxed traditional pub atmosphere.
Came here with my family, absolutely love the food here. I recommend the Halibut, it is really delicious and I love the Cod and haddock as well. The quality has been consistent for2 decades and is the best fish and chips in Toronto by far. The take out is fast and always has great service. The environment when you dine in feels intimate, cozy and always has 10/10 service. The decor and lighting is nice as well and the bar has a great feel to it.
Jackson R — Google review
Almost everything on the menu is deep-fried, including the desserts. If deep-fried food isn’t your preference, this place may not be for you. However, if you enjoy deep-fried dishes, it’s excellent—the oil tasted fresh, and the batter was especially flavorful. The service was great and the atmosphere is an old English house feeling. The space is very small and hot in the summer and noisy. There’s a waiting time of at least 20 minutes to get a seat.
Shirin D — Google review
I had the pleasure of trying this fish and chips establishment for the first time. I had heard about it from a dear friend. I was intrigued to give it a try. The service was impeccable. We chose to dine on a Monday evening, which was quite peaceful. I found it delightful that we could converse without the interruption of loud music. I ordered the Cod and Greek salad. It was truly delicious, with an abundance of batter and the tender, crisp cod. My husband had the pleasure of having haddock and chips. The chips were the most delightful part for me. The portions were quite generous and the prices were quite reasonable. The total cost was $18.25 each, and the option to upgrade your salad was $3.75.
Jane N — Google review
Came here for lunch and the staff were friendly and attentive. Older establishment based on the decor that gives a warm, homey vibe. Ordered haddock and cod. The fish was cooked to perfection, draped in golden brown, crunchy batter in a good portion size. Fries were classic cut and the coleslaw was creamy crunchy. This is a can’t go wrong fish and chips restaurant, one of the best in the city.
Gr8tfish G — Google review
Absolutely loved this spot! The fish was perfectly crispy, not oily at all, and tasted super fresh, cooked just right. The clam chowder was incredibly rich and flavourful, truly a standout dish. Portion sizes were generous but not too much, which made the whole meal feel just right. The atmosphere was cozy and relaxed, and the staff were genuinely kind and personable, which really added to the whole experience. Definitely a place I’d come back to for comforting, quality food done right!
Piyal — Google review
This really feels like one of the few authentic fish and chips spots in Toronto. The freshly fried fish was absolutely top-notch — super crispy and full of flavor. I ordered mine with a salad instead of fries, and personally, I found it much lighter and even more enjoyable that way. The crispiness was seriously next level!
Yeon Y — Google review
There is Takeout entrance, while the main entrance is on Laird. Parking spots around 10. Feels like a family business but I doubt. This is a pretty special area, to me, and there are many groups of customers that look like have beengoing there frequently. Besides sitting next table to a group of super loud chatting noise ones, everything was pretty nice. Very special to me. Last time I visited was probably over 10 years ago. Food is great. Service provided by Ashley was good, very polite. It is a restaurant that visitors can consider.
Chester C — Google review
Certainly a well oiled machine, this restaurant is! Staff all seemed competent and hard working. It was actually a bit entertaining to watch all the commotion (busy Friday evening; nice weather out). Bravo! As a first time patron, the differentiation between takeout and main entrance wasn’t so clear, but no biggie. The signage that the accessible entrance was “only for wheelchairs” was a bit more bothersome. But honestly not a huge deal. Some folks (especially elderly) can walk fine but have a hard time managing stairs…that’s all. Again, not a major point of pain; just an observation. Food was good. No complaints. Well prepared and plated. Perfectly acceptable portions. Might I say even too large of a piece of key lime pie. 100% should and could be shared. Pricing on the little printed cards at the hostess stand compared to the ones on the menu at the table were less for every item a bit is seemed. Maybe that’s a take-out vs. dine-in thing? I don’t run a restaurant or pay attention to these details typically, so perhaps that’s standard? Just caught off guard a bit as these were available to read while waiting for a table. And this was NOT at the take out only entrance I had mistaken for earlier. I live about 15km away and have always wanted to try this place. While the food wasn’t spectacular enough for me to make the extra effort to rush back; ultimately comparing to equally prepared fish & chips shops in my neighbourhood — I do love that Leaside has this place as an authentic option and enjoyed the visit/meal.

Len Duckworth Fish & Chips is a beloved spot in Toronto's east end, known for serving up traditional fried fish and chips, as well as shrimp, scallops, and coleslaw. The eatery has a rich history dating back to 1929 when it was founded by Jack and Edith Duckworth. Although the sign outside claims an establishment date of 1930, the legacy has been carried on through the years.
Great neighborhood place for fresh fish and chips. Good prices, great taste, friendly service. We loved how nice it is to have an old school community place for a hearty meal. Definitely recommend trying the Halibut here. The fries could be crispier but hey.. it's not about the fries.

Check out @bredgyeats for food pics! A comforting and indulgent seafood platter featuring a mix of battered haddock, shrimp, scallops and ton of fries for a crispy and addictive meal. The batter is light and crisp, delivering a satisfying oily bite on the meaty but flaky haddock, bouncy shrimp, and sweet scallops. It comes with some refreshingly crunchy coleslaw, horseradish cocktail sauce, and packets of the classic tartar sauce and malt vinegar.
Bredgy L — Google review
This is your no-frills shop that doesn't try to sell you on dining experience or gimmicky trends for your social media accounts. Just tender fish with a crispy batter, normal human-sized portions, good value, and kind staff. I'd like the fries to be crisper and more pillowy in the center, but the star of the show is the fish, and they do it well. The tartar sauce is surprisingly good for something that comes out of a squeeze bottle. My first time here, likely not to be my last.

Have been enjoying amazing fish & chips here for the last 8 years now !! It is a family run restaurant with roots in England , so the fish is prepared in a very Yorkshire way, thin batter, crispy on the outside and just the right texture inside. The fries are hand cut and again fried perfectly. Their house tartar sauce is very flavourful . I should be a traditionalist and have Haddock but I enjoy the Halibut a lot ( I guess because I am Canadian!!) . The house special which comes with fish & chips, tea, coleslaw and buttered bread with gravy is quite the meal. The service has always been exceptional, welcoming and with a big smile. The whole team makes sure your visit is satisfying. The restaurant has been going strong since 1929 !!

It had been years since I last ate here and the food was the same as I remembered. I had the house special. It was yummy.

Are you looking for authentic fish and chips in the Danforth/East York area? They offer consistently good food. The halibut is worth the extra charge, the fries are thick cut, the coleslaw is creamy. The meal also comes with buttered bread. Ask for tartar sauce and vinegar. I appreciate that they make everything fresh to order. When you call ahead they will confirm how close you are to ensure it’s hot! Go check it out.

Nestled in the heart of the Kingsway community, Kingsway Fish & Chips is a beloved family-run establishment that has been delighting locals since 1958. With a cozy atmosphere adorned with over 300 teapots from around the globe, this west-end gem can comfortably seat more than 100 guests and often fills up quickly each evening.
I have lived in the neighbourhood for years and never been in. Granted, this place has some stiff competition in its neighbours, it fills a wildly big void. This place will charge you $22 for a single piece of fish and some chips. I had that and a water. The waitress was absolutely wonderful- kind, welcoming, quick and very sweet. The food though- sometimes I think I might just love a place for its charm but that is fish and chips like I wish it always was. Honest and not over the top with huge flavour that doesn’t feel greasy. The flavour was out of this world and texture as well. If you love a greasy spoon, you will love this spot. May your heart be warmed by its sweet charm and delicious fish.

We tried Kingsway Fish and Chips for the first time today and will definitely be coming back! The atmosphere is cozy and family-friendly, with an old-school diner feel. We started with the calamari and lobster bisque - the calamari pieces were huge, with a light, tasty batter. For mains, my husband had the seafood platter, and I had the fish with salad and fries, which was a nice lighter option. Our 13-month-old daughter loved the halibut - flaky, fresh, and perfectly cooked. Our server Lorraine (who we believe is also the owner) was warm and attentive throughout. We didn’t get to try dessert this time, but we’re already planning our next visit. Highly recommend!

Decided to try this place that my late dad used to come to and really enjoyed it. Service was great, nice and comfortable restaurant and the food was decent. Could have filled my plate with another spoon of slaw or some more fries. WAY overpriced! Insane bill. Glad I came alone.

This is a good place for good old fish & Chips, the calamari was proper but coleslaw was underwhelming. Staff are very friendly and it gets busy.
Rachelle L — Google review
The fish was quite tasty, prices are on the high end in relation to the value that you get for the food. Would recommend going when it is not as busy. There's usually a lineup. Service was fast.

My boyfriend and I tried this place for the first time and were so impressed and satisfied. We got the classic fish and chips and fish tacos! Such fresh and perfectly crispy fish, perfect coleslaw, and super crispy fries - we cannot wait to have it again soon!!! Loraine was also lovely and provided perfect and attentive service!

This place is absolutely fantastic. I got their "#2 best deal special" which comes with halibut chowder and fish n chips for a great price. The chowder was really really good. Never had halibut chowder before, only clam showder. This chowder was super good. Really creamy and perfectly spiced. You can taste the halibut, but it's not fishy at all. I was very pleasantly surprised. The fish n chips are always good here. Perfectly battered and fried. Always nice and hot when you get it. The fish is nice and crunchy on the outside but flakey and moist on the inside. The chips are always nicely salted and crisp. I've always had great service here. Everyone seems very friendly and happy. They make sure your glass isn't empty as well. They do decorate for the holidays which is cool. But I do like their quirky decor that's always up. Just funny little wooden canadian signs and such.

Sad, really. Our family tradition coming here for fish and chips on Good Friday spans 4 decades. The owner's comments really made us feel like dollar signs, not loyal patrons. The service wasn't great either. Will we be back? not as often. The fish is delicious, but both portions and basic kindness have really been cut back at this place. Disappointing.

Buster's Sea Cove, located in St. Lawrence Market, has been a beloved lunch spot since its establishment in 1992. This bustling seafood joint offers a diverse menu featuring sandwiches, grilled dishes, soups, salads, and their renowned fish 'n' chips. The eatery is famous for its delectable clam chowder, coconut shrimp, and grilled octopus.
We ordered the grilled calamari with salad, and a cup of lobster bisque. The grilled calamari is fresh, I love the grilled taste of it! Also it’s big portion, enough for 2 people. The lobster bisque is perfect as well, definitely recommend. We would like to try the grilled/fried halibut next time👍🏻 everything on the menu looks good!!!

St. Lawrence Market is such a fun place to explore, with so many food options to try! We ended up eating there twice at the same spot — Seafood Buster’s Cove — because it was just that good. The seafood is super fresh and flavorful. The lobster roll is definitely a must-try, and the octopus was excellent as well. Everything tasted so clean and perfectly prepared. seating is an obstacle. better to wait for the spot then order your food. outdoor seating is also available next to busters sea cove.

I had very high expectations prior trying their lobster roll. Everyone told me how their lobster roll is to die for. I can only say I’ve had better. It is pricy, but the portion is huge! We were lucky that there was no line up when we got there. Note to self: debit card or cash only - they do not accept credit card. They do have ATM machines inside the St. Lawrence Market, so it isn’t a big deal.

There was quite a line around noon, but it’s totally understandable. The lobster roll was perfect. The big chunks of lobster is very tasty! The food came out quickly, though the fries were just average. Portions are decent, but the price is a bit high. As a tourist, it’s definitely worth trying once, but I’d think twice before coming back.

Picked up the lobster roll, fish & chips, and grilled calamari and everything was excellent. The lobster roll was fresh, buttery, and packed with meat. The fish was golden, crispy, and flaky inside, and the calamari was grilled to perfection—tender with great charred flavor. There’s no dine-in service—just grab and go—but the staff are quick and efficient. Even after the ride home, everything held up beautifully. If you’re after solid seafood without the fuss, this place delivers. Definitely coming back. Aug 31 - had another great visit and tried the grilled salmon, left satisfied.

Recentally i visited this store to try crab fries and crab salad. The food was so delicious. And a big apprication to Eduina who took the order with very patient and suggesting their popular food. She make good interaction with the customer and making them feel so excited to try their food.

Probably, the best fried calamari I have ever had. The squid was tender and juicy and still crispy on the outside. It even tasted better when I paired it with the basmati rice which I was really in awe. Nothing really in there but it the rice was so delicious. I found the sauce in the lobster roll overpowering the lobster but I loved the buttered bread. The onion rings were crunchy. No wonder there is always a long line. Next time I will try the other menu items. The Pho bo is very tempting. The space inside the market is tight but it there are a lot of spaces outside.

Dropped by St Lawrence Market around 9.30am and decided to try the lobster roll at Buster’s Sea Cove. The service was quick and friendly; they don’t accept credit card but do accept debit cards and cash. The food was ready in less than 10 minutes and there is a small seating area just opposite the store - but as it’s at the Market there is some great seating outside in the current October sunshine. I don’t have a bench mark to compare against but I felt the lobster roll was very tasty- generously filled with lobster and not overly coated in the sauce. A big portion of fries included. The cost with taxes was 25.99cad.

Off The Hook Fishbar is a cozy counter-serve eatery with a focus on fresh, organic ingredients and a variety of fish dishes, including burgers and salads. Located in the Danforth and Broadview area, this hotspot offers not only delicious fish and chips but also an array of options such as fish sandwiches, crab cakes, Panko-crusted shrimp, and more. In addition to their seafood offerings, they provide organic produce and various types of poutine, including a vegan option.
We were excited to go here for sea food and they did not disappoint. We arrived just as they opened and were greeted by the friendliest lady who gave us a run down of the menu and sorted us out with drinks. The food was delicious and we tried a good assortment of what was on the menu. Fish tacos excellent, brussel sprouts awesome, fish and chips delish!

Appreciate the clearly marked vegan options! The banana blossom “fish” is good, especially with the vegan tartar sauce. I would say it needs a little more flavour on its own, maybe longer marinating times? But if you add vinegar and the vegan tartar, it’s good! They also carry vegan poutine with cashew cheese! The service is always very attentive and timely and the space is very cozy.

Absolutely LOVE this spot, have eaten in-restaurant twice over the last year, and ordered delivery multiple times, with someone Celiac at home we have NEVER had any issues with gluten! Food is delicious and fresh, service is spectacular, honestly absolutely love this place! We’ve had oysters, fish & chips, tacos, poutine (also a fan of their vegan options for poutine, garlic aioli and tartar sauce!), their deep fried Oreos are to die for, and the selections for beers and drinks are always nice! (Ps, sorry for the almost demolished food pic, have tried and failed to take a picture before digging in for almost a year now)

Landon took great care of us (party of 12). He was super personable and quick. Fish and chips, 10/10. Also got the curry, super flavorful. Love the atmosphere and the place was clean. Bathrooms too. So happy we chose this place to satisfy our cravings. Will definitely be back when we visit Toronto!

We chose the bar level seat looking out the front window. Great food! The chowder was so full of fish it was more like a bowl of fish with sauce. Brussel sprouts are a must have. Fish and shrimps that we had were fresh and tasty. Great service from our server, just the right level of attentiveness and enthusiasm (it's an art) Only thing would be the ventilation in the open kitchen could be better, but hey, they serve fish and chips! What did you expect?
HC C — Google review
I got the burger with a side salad. The side salad was just lettuce with balsamic vinaigrette and the burger was good but a little dry for my liking. My friends got the fish and chips and said the fish was a bit burnt. Also, there weren’t too many options to choose from on the menu for meals. Aside from that, our server was super nice, accommodating and quick with our orders.

Follow @bredgyeats for more food pics! Halibut Fish and Chips - Halibut was uneven, the thinner end was super moist and flaky, while the thicker part was a little worse but still good. The batter was crispy and aromatic, but the fish itself didn't have a taste. The tartar sauce was nice, and the lemon brightened up the dish a lot. Vinaigrette slaw was refreshing and crisp, and the salad was on the sour side but helped with the oil of the batter.

It’s no wonder why they are a top rated fish and chips spot From the time you step in, you’re greet d very warmly by the staff and they also take care of you as needed The fish was so crispy and you hear the crunch on every bite. I had been craving fish and chips for a while now and this place really hit the spot. The atmosphere is very homey and the front of house staff were extremely pleasant. Nestled in the heart of Toronto, Harbord Fish & Chips is a charming little take-out joint that has been delighting locals for nearly four decades. With its inviting pale blue exterior and outdoor picnic seating, this spot is hard to miss. The air is filled with mouthwatering aromas as patrons indulge in their classic fish and chips, featuring generous portions of halibut, cod, haddock, or basa paired with crispy fries.
I ordered chicken wings and fries at fish and chips, it was so good with the mayo. Also I have to mention that the wings and fries are so hot and crispy, perfect food for the perfect weather.

My girlfriend and I had the haddock, which was excellent. The batter was surprisingly flavourful and cooked to crispy perfection. The coleslaw was nothing special but good enough. Our only complaint was the tartar sauce, which was sweet and tasted like relish. Be aware that outside seating is very limited and there is no indoor seating. Overall, this is a great little spot.
Solomon G — Google review
Was there on Saturday for lunch. I got the cod and it didn’t disappoint. The fish and the batter were flavorful and the fish was moist. The batter felt very light and not greasy. I usually take the halibut (which is always great) but this time I decided to go with the cod. It was a very nice compromise for quality/price. The fries were excellent. Although there is no table service, the staff was extremely friendly in our interactions. I’ve been going for years and I will continue going there. I highly recommend it. Just be aware that there is only outside seating and the space is limited.

Way too much batter and grease for a very small amount of fish. May have been a one off so will give it another try hopefully there will be more fish. The fish and shrimp tasted fresh and pretty good, not too dry! Fries were also not bad. For the price, which is on the more expensive side, I expected better quality and taste. There are definitely better places. 5 stars for the tartar sauce though, one of the best sauces I’ve ever had !!
Dominic P — Google review
Awesome halibut fresh, tasty and meaty with the fixings of homemade tartar sauce and lemon. Served in separate containers my Delivery came promptly with all the condiments I need to feel like I was at a beach storefront. I did order one piece but the size of the container looks like it was cut in half, so I got two pieces. I was also a client of this store with previous owners, for a decade or so. It's a slightly different type of batter and the tartar is homemade. I like a crunchy batter that's as close as possible to pub style. If they drain off a bit more oil before packing, and add a dash of salt it might be a bit crispier. There are few stores that serve fish and chips to begin with in the GTA. Support your local store and if you prefer a thick buttery and heavy morsel of fish, pay a bit more for halibut. If you have more people to feed and want a reasonable priced fish go for the haddock. Gravy is a large bowl but it needs to be much thicker. In general fish and chips isn't something I recommend for delivery. If you are in a car and it's close or you want a picnic it's fun to eat at the table at the take out in summer. Otherwise, these are just suggestions and you are always welcome to add me and I will follow back.

3/5 Might return. Was worried about all the reviews saying the quality has dropped with a change in owners/management. Fortunately the fish batter is still very crisp, the fries are tasty and fried well and fish itself moist and not dry. Overall the food is good and fresh. However they need - smaller boxes so the contents don't bounce around. My fish became fish fingers. - make their own tartar. At $30 you can't use cheap packets. - be more generous with coleslaw. It's literally cabbage and costs nothing.

Hooky's Fish and Chips, formerly known as Chippys, is a cozy spot located across from Trinity Bellwoods. They offer a variety of beer-battered fish, breaded seafood, and chips fried to order. The menu includes halibut, haddock, cod, prawns, calamari, scallops, and occasional specials like deep-fried soft shell crab. Every order comes with fries and a side of sauce.
Hooky’s Fish & Chips is one of my go-to spots at The Well. There are plenty of great food options around, but I always find myself coming back here. The halibut is perfectly cooked, super flavorful, and pairs so well with their garlic mayo sauce. The staff are really friendly and welcoming, which makes the experience even better. It’s the kind of place that keeps you coming back!

For food court fish and chips this is amazing. First they offer haddock, halibut and cod. The batter is crisp and tasty. Not too thick. The chips are chips not fries. Square cut. Well cooked. Hooky’s is a solid fish and chips spot and consistently maintains the same quality level. Personally this is not my favourite fish and chips around but it is good, the staff are friendly and The Well is a great location. If you feel like fish and chips Hooky’s will never do you wrong. One wish was that there was more tartar sauce included by default!

This Fish and Chips place never fails to impress me. Whenever I’m in The Well, this is one of my constant favourites. I usually order Cod and chips and the other day I came and order it with extra piece of Cod. They thought the original pieces were too small so they gave me extra 2 pcs! This is how you do business, some places would just try to be sneaky if the pieces are too small and it is just up to you to voice it out. They will have my business for life.

Oyster Boy is a charming seafood spot in Toronto, known for its cozy atmosphere and focus on oysters. The restaurant offers a variety of fresh seafood dishes, including grilled squid, lobster bisque, albacore tuna, and black tiger prawn tacos. It also hosts the popular Shuck U Class, where seafood enthusiasts can enjoy an oyster master class and tasting session.
Had a great time at Oyster Boy for a birthday dinner! Oysters were delicious and I really enjoyed the appetizers overall. I felt that the seafood chowder wasn’t as creamy as expected , but the entrees made up for it. Will definitely be back for the Mac n cheese , oysters and fish n chips .

Food was great but the front girl was kinda rude :// i told her they (Yummy Market) sells a box of caviar for $80 instead of $150 there and she looked at me rudely like i was lying or something.. idk she had an attitude. Besides that, oysters were fresh, although i paid $4/oyster but some of them were so tiny which i found not worth it for the price :// (the uni on top was my own)

If you're in the Queen West area and looking for an intimate restaurant with a good selection of seafood and excellent service, Oyster Boy is definitely a great choice. The restaurant is conveniently located near the park, with several establishments nearby. You can get there by Streetcar, which stops in front of the park. If you're driving, there are designated parking lots in the area and paid parking lots (which are a little harder to find). The restaurant doesn't have a patio, only dining room service. The patio isn't large, so I recommend making a reservation, as it can get busy on some days, especially on weekends. Unfortunately, the restaurant is not equipped to accommodate wheelchair users and those with other disabilities. It has a step at the entrance, a conventional door that isn't wide enough, no accessible restrooms, and no Braille menu. If you're traveling with children, there are no changing tables or children's menus. The service is excellent, attentive, respectful, and very friendly from start to finish. The menu offers a good variety of dishes, and I can say that they were all delicious on all our visits. It's definitely worth a visit.

Came here with a friend since we were in the area and looking for a quick bite. Was hoping there would be po’boy sandwiches on the menu, but we were out of luck. Instead, we both got their delicious fish & chips. The fries were spectacular, the coleslaw had a great zing to it, and the fish was delicate and flakey with a nice layer of crispy batter coating it.
Raiyan K — Google review
If you’re an oyster lover—or even just oyster-curious—Oyster Boy is a must-visit spot in Toronto. I’ve been a few times now and each experience has been consistently excellent. The quality of the oysters here is top-notch. You can tell they take great care in sourcing fresh, flavourful selections, and the staff really knows their stuff. They’ll walk you through the different types and recommend options depending on your taste—whether you prefer something briny, buttery, or sweet. Beyond oysters, the rest of the menu holds its own. The clam chowder is rich and comforting, and their small plates (like the scallop ceviche and crab cakes) are crafted with great attention to detail. Everything tastes like it came straight from the ocean to your plate—fresh, clean, and well-seasoned. The vibe inside is casual but cozy. It’s not a flashy place, which I actually love. It has that “hidden gem” energy—intimate and unpretentious, with an old-school seafood bar charm. Perfect for a low-key date night, catching up with friends, or just sitting solo at the bar with a cold drink and a dozen oysters. And here’s the kicker—they have a happy hour! This makes the experience even more enjoyable. Great oysters at a great price in a relaxed setting? Yes, please. It’s the kind of place you want to return to over and over again. Service is also consistently friendly and knowledgeable. They’re welcoming without being pushy, and they give you space to enjoy your food and company. Highly recommend for anyone who appreciates high-quality seafood, a chill atmosphere, and great value—especially during happy hour. Oyster Boy is one of those places that lives up to the hype.

Dear Management, I am Elizabeth Thomson, and my family and friends have been loyal patrons of your restaurant for years. We have celebrated numerous special occasions within your establishment, creating cherished memories that we will always treasure. However, we have recently noticed a decline in the overall dining experience. While the food, particularly the oysters, remains consistently excellent and fresh, we have observed a significant change in the service staff's demeanor. The staff seem less interactive and appear to be avoiding customer concerns. Furthermore, we have witnessed staff members consuming liquor while on duty on multiple occasions. Specifically, we met the young owners who introduced themselves during one of our visits. Initially, they were friendly, but we were surprised to see them drinking throughout our stay. Unfortunately, this behavior was not an isolated incident, as we observed similar behavior on a subsequent visit. Although the staff did not appear to be drinking during my most recent visit, the customer service was noticeably lacking. We are concerned about the impact this may have on your patrons, including our own family and friends who have stopped visiting your restaurant due to similar concerns. Despite the large number of customers you serve daily, we felt it was essential to bring this matter to your attention. Sincerely, Elizabeth Thomson

It was our second time celebrating a birthday at Oyster Boy and we enjoyed ourselves as much as the first time. We shared a mixed platter of 24 oysters and a salad. The oysters were so fresh and tasty I didn’t want to follow up with anything else. The staff all seemed genuinely happy to be there. They were busy but were chill while answering any questions. I was surprised by how good the salad was while being so impressed by the oysters. “Ice Cold Beer” at $4 a can was another pleasant surprise. The atmosphere was busy while relaxed. One of the owners was working hard along with her employees and I really enjoyed having a brief chat.

Oyster Boy is legit. The selection was super good, and paired so nice with a glass of prosecco and a Guinness. The shucker, Rachel, was on oyster duty, but she greeted with warmth and brought a drink right away. She took the time to explain my oysters and helped me select a group that worked for my tastes. Also added one to the mix to take me out of my comfort zone that worked so well and brought the whole thing together. My server, Cloud, was on point the whole night. Top service. No waiting for anything. Super friendly and knowledgeable. Flawless oysting at the local spot.

Nestled in a strip mall, St. Andrews Fish & Chips has been a beloved fixture in central Scarborough since 1984, offering an authentic taste of Scotland right in the heart of Canada. Founded by two friends who saw a need for British cuisine among the local population, this eatery prides itself on its genuine Scottish roots—every staff member hails from Scotland! At St.
Peak fish n chips in the GTA. If you need to have fish n chips, choose st Andrews. Authentic Scottish dining experience. I chose to eat the Haddock n Chips based on the server's recommendation and got a side of gravy. This was all A+ Haddock n Chips was exactly as it would be in the UK. The gravy was deep and rich. The fried were definitely home made. The condiments were high quality. The fish of all was chunky and fishy, and the batter was crunchy and golden. Everything here tastes home made. This is the real deal. The portion was huge and I had no room for other menu items. The menu features other authentic Scottish items like pies. There are also some original items like scallops n chips. Great ambiance. The place is tidy, unpretentious, and humble. It has a retro feel to it, and it shows that one or a few persons take pride in this place; I can tell this from the decor on the wall reflecting the owner's personal interest and from his presence on social media. Service was excellent. The server was prompt, courteous, and regularly checked up on my dining experience. I liked the informative wall decor giving glimpses of Scottish culture. Totally enjoyed this place; it is the benchmark for fish n chips.

Best fish and chips that I have had since coming to Canada. Real chips, batter was very crisp and tasty. Also had a side of haggis which was also lovely but the batter was slightly greasy.

Got halibut and chips. Not the first time having st. Andrew’s fish and chips. Like them a lot in the past, my go to place. was hoping portions would be slightly bigger. Halibut and chips is 20$+. I ordered through delivery so it was soggy. Fries weren’t salted which is fine you can add according to taste. I really wish the portion was bigger, perhaps inflation is the culprit. Fish was quite oily but it didn’t come through too much in the taste if you know what I mean so points for that! Overall my only concern is the portion size. Hope it can be helped.

My wife and I decided to come and give St. Andrews a try. We both had never been here before, but we both love fish and chips and we knew of them by the reputation from others in the Scarborough area. Everyone had always said great things about their food, so we made the trip and we were not disappointed that we did. This place is set up in a very smart fashion. I was impressed by the simple set up of a takeout window on your way into the restaurant. This is not a common thing anymore and works well for pickups by food delivery companies and call ins or if you just want to get it on the go. The interior was nicely done and felt comfortable, with staff being very friendly and welcoming. We both ordered Halibut and Chips as that is our favorite and they did a great job with it. The fish was cooked perfectly and was very tender with the batter crispy and fried just right. The chips were fresh cut which is a huge plus, as a lot of places just don’t take the time to do this and the difference is night and day. The whole meal hit the spot and both of us felt completely satisfied by what we just ate. This place totally lives up to the hype and we both would recommend to anyone looking for great fish and chips, to swing by and give them a try….. You won’t be disappointed you did. We will definitely be back.

Great cod and chips. Proper fat chips, not French fries! The deep fried Mars bar was delicious.

Been here 2 times in one week for take out. Had the Halibut and Chips. Fresh, crispy and delicate fish.... soooo good. It is definitely going to be a problem not showing up every week.

Best chippy in Toronto and I’ve been to most of them. Chips here are a notch above those at Olde York and the menu is more varied. Curry sauce, beans, fritters etc. Didn’t try the desserts but they sounded excellent. Very welcoming staff. Will go back

Love this place ❤️ Service was slow but we were a party of 6 so we had lots to chat about while waiting. The servers were amazing I think we got a new hire but she proactively ask the other server. The food was delicious and portions hearty! The place need a bit of remodeling looks dull needs brightening.

New Toronto Fish & Chips is a nostalgic and charming eatery situated on Fifth Street, established by the Young family in 1973. This retro restaurant offers takeout orders of halibut, haddock, or cod paired with freshly-cut fries and coleslaw, served in newspaper to evoke a sense of old-fashioned authenticity.
This is the best fish and chips place in Etobicoke. I have been coming here for 30+ years and I love that it’s never changed one bit. It’s a family business. Food it’s delicious. And you will be full For a good while. I highly recommend to eat in.

Wyck Recommends: New Toronto Fish & Chips – A $10.95 Time Machine (with Gravy , Sadly No Poutine) * gravy cost extra. Picture this: You’re walking down Fifth Street in Etobicoke and you blink—suddenly it’s 1984, and you’re in a cozy little diner that hasn’t changed since fish and chips were a national personality trait. No neon signs. No food trends. Just good value, kind people, and bomb gravy. What We Had: Fish & Chips Combo (Haddock) – crispy battered fish, golden fries, side of coleslaw Gravy on the side – not included, costs extra, but honestly? Worth it. Combo Price: $10.95 before tax. In this economy? Practically historic. Service: Genuinely lovely. The older woman behind the counter is warm and welcoming, and the server was helpful, calm, and kind. Vibe Check: It’s giving retro realness—wood-paneled walls, red vinyl booths, and classic diner energy. No trendy decor. No playlist. Just the comforting hum of a place that knows exactly what it is. Usually quiet—no rush, no chaos, just you and your perfectly fried lunch. The Space Itself: Simple, clean, and charming in that “my grandparents would love this” kind of way. Booths, counter service, a few local newspaper clippings on the wall—nothing fancy, everything familiar. A rare spot where you can sit down and still hear yourself think. About the Neighborhood: New Toronto is full of surprises—quiet, low-key, and just steps from the lake. Fun fact: New Toronto used to be its own town until Etobicoke annexed it in the '60s. This place feels like a relic from before that ever happened. Hits: ✔️ $10.95 for haddock, fries, and slaw—absolute steal ✔️ Gravy (extra) is rich, flavorful, and worth every penny ✔️ Friendly, old-school service with heart ✔️ Real seating, real plates, real peace ✔️ A hidden gem that deserves more traffic Misses: ✖️ No poutine (gravy this good deserves better destiny) ✖️ It’s not flashy—don’t come for the vibes, come for the meal ✖️ It may not “wow” foodies, but it absolutely delivers Final Verdict: It’s not the trendiest fish and chips spot—but it’s one of the most genuine. Delicious, affordable, and served with kindness. A neighborhood secret that shouldn’t stay a secret. Rating: 4.1/5 Perfect for: Solo lunches, no-fuss classics, comfort food in peace Avoid if: You need Insta-friendly plating or can’t function without aioli

This was our first time visiting New Toronto Fish & Chips, and it was what you expected for a landmark restaurant that has been around for over 40 years. We got there 10 minutes before closing and opted to do their takeout special. Everyone was super pleasant to us, including some regulars that were eating there that talked us up while waiting when they heard we had never been there before. We took the food down to the beach to eat and very much enjoyed the food with the view. We ordered the haddock takeout special and got gravy and coleslaw. The fish was fantastic, really enjoyed it, it's been a while since I had a fish this good, one spot the batter was a bit undercooked, but not to the point it wasn't edible, just for my taste. The chips were not good, to be fair, we showed up 10 minutes before closing, so I assume we got what was left, or that's how they tasted, very dry and old tasting, I wanted to enjoy them after the fish was so good, but neither of us finished eating the fries sadly. The coleslaw was a bit to vinegary for my taste, but I actually mixed some tartar sauce in it and it actually made it tastier for me. The gravy was AMAZING and second to the fish, it was the only way I was able to eat as many chips as I did. Overall I would go back next time I'm in the area to give them a second chance, but would go earlier, as I feel the chips were unfairly judged based on when we ended up there.

It's been a while since I was here last. This place has been here since I was a kid. Still have the old wooden booths. Too me, they still have the best halibut in Etobicoke. Large thick piece, inside nice and flakey. Moist, not dry. It comes with fries and coleslaw when dining in. You need to eat it fresh. Otherwise, take out will change the crispyness. You got to eat here 😋. Have a look at my pictures and press the like button! If you like what I do, press the follow button to see what I do next.

Great Fish and Chips. The scallops and onion rings are also great. I have dined in at the restaurant many times and the service and atmosphere are great. Service is fast. I do take out more often than I dine in but I usually pick up a meal most weeks and my family has been going for there for decades. It is a true institution in the community and others come in from some distance away just for the Fish and Chips.

Pearl Diver is a cozy seafood spot in Toronto that offers a seasonal menu with craft beers and vegan options. It's perfect for gathering with friends, as it has a Raw Bar menu featuring a variety of seafood towers and vegetarian-friendly options like veggie burgers, poutine, and fried edamame. Located just outside the downtown core, Pearl Diver boasts fresh fish dishes such as world-famous P.E.I.
4.5/5 The seafood is great and the atmosphere is chill. Great place for after work drinks or a casual date! The seafood tower is good value on Tuesdays ($70). We tried the calamari which had a bit of an Asian twist. The Lobster Sliders, the Mussels, and the Black Cod hit the spot. The textures and flavours were harmonious. Yumm! The seafood is very fresh here. Gratuity is an automatic 18% (before tax) which we didn’t mind as we didn’t have to think about it. Service is rather slow and could be improved, but the servers are pleasant. We’ll be back!

Tried out Pearl Diver to celebrate a birthday today. The interior/ambiance is really nice, it's not too fancy but not too casual either. They were playing music I like too, which is a bonus :-) I got the seafood tower, since they had a special ($70 on Tuesdays) as well as the fish and chips. I've never had oysters before so I was pleasantly surprised and enjoyed them with the sauces/vinegars given too! Like some reviewers said, the oysters are pretty small. I didn't really know since again, I've never had oysters. I could down tons of them though (PD has a 100 for $100 deal I think). Still, lots of variety and everything tasted awesome. The fish and chips were pretty good, I thought the fish was kind of small but it was crispy and flaky so it's ok. I also thought the fries were slightly too salty+overcooked but it's whatever! Our waiter was very chill, friendly and even joked around with us a bit. Service was attentive and our food came out pretty quickly. Only thing is, when I made the reservation I put in the notes that it was someone's birthday and they told me they were going to give us a sticky toffee pudding (secret to the celebrant) but then we never ended up getting anything. Wasn't able to catch any of the waiters about it before we had to leave :( Other than that everything was pretty good. I'd come here again! Note: PD applies a 18% service tax on all bills!

Thank you for accommodating our reservation due to traffic. The food, service and atmosphere made traffic worth it. I hope to go back for the $100 oysters 🦪 as it was my first time having fresh oysters 🤣 cheers

We've been meaning to go to the Pearl Diver for quite literally 5 years ever since we moved into the St. Lawrence Market neighborhood. After going for the first time, I only wished we went sooner. We went on a Thursday night in August, and were greated by the bustling atmosphere of a full restaurant. We went for the seafood tower and a few other dishes, including a cozy bowl of chowder, scallops, and two desserts. Being from the Maritimes, the Pearl Diver's offerings are a taste from home, and I'm looking forward to going back soon (and not in 5 years' time).

If you’re an oyster lover, this place is a must! The oysters were incredibly fresh—sweet, briny, and served perfectly chilled. What made the experience even better was the friendly and knowledgeable shucker, who took the time to explain where each oyster came from and made great recommendations. The atmosphere was laid-back and welcoming. A great spot to enjoy quality seafood and great service. I’ll definitely be back!

We were in search of Happy Hour Oyster so we found this spot. We got their Dozen of Malpeque Oysters for $24 at their Happy Hour Menu, the Oyster were freshly shucked, not bad to go with Drinks! Calamari, on the other hand were a bit over cooked but seasoned nicely. Mandatory 18% tips is included btw‼️

Pearl Diver delivers on fresh seafood in a fun, lively setting. The seafood tower was grea, packed with fresh oysters, crab, pickled mussels, and shrimp. Scallops were beautifully seared(fav of the nigh), and the chowder was rich and comforting, though it could’ve used a side of bread to clean up the bowl. Desserts were also surprisingly great, the sticky toffee pudding stole the show and the coconut crème brûlée was.dwcenr too. Service was spot-on, attentive without hovering. A great spot for fresh catches and a buzzing night out.

I love all things seafood so I was excited to give this restaurant a try. The nautical feels were cute! I opted to have one of each taco 🌮 . The tacos were a nice size and loaded with fish / or shrimp. I absolutely loved the tacos and would highly recommend them The piece of fish was a large size. I absolutely loved the popcorn shrimp They were amazing. So delicious I had seen photos of their poutine and being a fish and chips place I wasn't sure what to expect. Hands down this blew me away . The gravy was flavored so well and it paired perfectly with the cheese. I know this is a fish place but I'm also going to be telling everyone about their poutine. 10/10

Order: Haddock (2) & Chips Cold Slaw Price: $25 Non-Alochol Batter Halal Chicken ( Source-Iqbal Foods) It's delicious and must try! The fish was light and flaky, just the right amount of seasoning. Loved every bite. The portion was good for two people but no doubt a fish lover could easily eat both portions of fish. Had a chance to speak to owner who was super friendly and took over the restaurant over a year ago.

Omg this place is great! The fish is fresh and the fries are crispy with seasoning salt. The coleslaw is flavourful and has a great vinegar taste to it. I got the halibut, and it was tender and flakey, my date got the hadock, which we wish was a bit more tender. The fish batter was lite and airy, with a good amount of seasoning. 8.5/10 would recommend. This place keeps getting better, just visited it again and wow! So good

I love fish and chips so I've been meaning to come by here since they reopened and decided to try today. First thing you notice when you go in is it's empty and a really really untempting smell. Like rotting seafood. I decided to try my luck with just the fried calamari. Absolutely the worst calamari, fried or not, I've ever had in my entire life. Miserable portion size for $13.50 and not only was it completely dried out, like jerky, it had a similar lack of freshness that the smell from earlier would have suggested. At least the lady refunded me. I understand the cost of everything has gone up and it's tough for restaurants but is this what passes now???? My god - Absolute trash. And why is someone who doesn't eat seafood COOKING SEAFOOD?!

Twenty years ago I visited this fish & chip restaurant. They used to give massive portions and wrap their fish & chips in newspaper. It's been years since I've been there so I sat down to an order of fish and chips. Much has changed and I was disappointed. The portions were small, very small and pricey. Almost $20 for a single piece of halibut fish and string size fries. Presentation was appetizing but again felt the fish portion was small. Batter on fish was crispy but the fish tasted boiled not deeped fried. Fries were ok but string size, unfortunately the fries at McDonald's taste better...Found the interior sit down a bit cramped and accessibilty issues to enter if you use a wheelchair or stroller.

This was a random pick for dinner tonight out with a friend. Wow, what a good choice we made to come here! Highly recommend coming here, the fish and fries are So good. Amazing cook on the fish, flavourful but not overdone and the fries are great. The Calamari was good but a little overfried in our case (can tell how dark it is in the pic) but I think would be really good. A+ would highly recommend to go here and I will be again! One thing that disappointed me was the use of disposable fork & knife in a packet (can be seen in the one photo background). Considering we were dining in it felt wasteful to use them and have more waste in the landfill.

After much online menu perusing, I decided on this place while visiting Toronto. Wanted something close by and satisfying. There was one table of 2 women when I but their order had just been taken so I knew it would be a little but til mine was ready. One cook in the kitchen 😬 While they were preparing my slightly large order, I decided to add one item, the girl who took the order and who was also helping in the kitchen didn't seem to impressed, what can I say, I was hungry and wanted to try different things, they all sounded good 🤷🏽‍♀️. I got the crispy shrimp, calamari, fish sandwich and Quebec poutine. I didn't end up getting the creamy spicy sauce shown in the photo with the shrimp, got sweet chili sauce for both apps instead. The seafood was delicious and well cooked but small portions for the price, in my eyes. The fish burger could've been a bit bigger, didn't quite fit the bun but good nonetheless. Poutine was yummy and huge, lots of cheese curds. Best value for its price I've seen anywhere. Would certainly go back!

For me and my family This place replaced the old Spot we LOVED with all our hearts. IT'S THAT GOOD. Years of family tradition ripped to shreds by DELIGHTFUL and WONDERFUL food and service. Haven't had such a nice dining experience in a long time. I had the lobster roll. YES it reflected the price of good lobster. No it didn't have any filler, Just succulent lobster and a wee bit of dressing. PERFECT. a kind of "step back and look around and remember there are good things in the world" kind of first bite. The bun was toasty, the lobster was the perfect temp. Idk how they did that. Fries were also exceptional (yes you can ask for gravy on the side). What the rest of my fam ordered looked killer. Imma need to keep trying dishes until I'm sure the lobster roll is still my fave. I'm told the actual fish and chips are also lovely. Yes, I am ordering it next time I go. Yes, I will update this review (I think I can do that). The staff are so lovely, and are also family. It's both cozy and welcoming. They are great. GO AND EAT HERE. EAT AT JOHN'S!!

Have been going here for an about a year and actually don’t live close by but for fresh food it’s worth it . First time today had their lobster roll . It has to be the freshest and least overloaded in filler like many with mayonnaise. The lobster fresh taste shine through . To find a better one in the city would be difficult. We also enjoy their fresh salads , I usually get Greek , which I believe the owner may be and we all know Greek restaurants deliver affordable quality . The lunch fish and chips plate is a bargain , plus you can have the fish cooked any style . It’s compact for parking but across the street the paid parking ends at 4:00 PM . The class of the owners was notable after my wife left her purse there with $ and all her cards , of course 2 days later realizing we were overwhelmed they had it in safe keeping , unopened .

Have tried several different dishes here and each one was spectacular. Cooked to perfection every single time. I recommend the Saginak as a starter and the homemade Baklava is one heck of a sweet way to end such a fabulous meal. No matter what you choose as your main course you won’t be disappointed. This family owned business are the most personable and friendly people, and it makes going there a very enjoyable experience

The fish and chips here at John’s fish & chips are truly the best we have ever had. We visited for the first time this week after being loyal to our neighbourhood fish & chips restaurant in Mississauga for over 30 years and I can say John’s will be our new go to. We had both the halibut and the haddock to be able to compare/judge our old spot fairly. Hands down this is superior. The batter was crispy and lighter than anywhere else we’ve tried. The portions were generous, the fries were great, the coleslaw was light and refreshing and again a generous amount of Maria’s husband makes their tartar sauce and it was delicious. The atmosphere is pleasant and quiet (and doesn’t have a fishy smell. Service was quick and friendly. Definitely John’s should be at the top of the Best in Class ~ a Don’t miss stop.

We had the most wonderful experience at John’s Fish and Chips! From the moment we walked in, the staff made us feel so welcome. The service was incredibly personal and thoughtful—truly above and beyond. We went to celebrate our daughter’s 6th birthday, and they made her feel like a princess! From a warm welcome to special little touches throughout the meal, it was clear that they genuinely cared about making the night special for her (and for us!). The food was delicious! The fish was perfectly crispy, the chips were just right, and everything was fresh and full of flavor. We can’t wait to come back. Thank you for an unforgettable experience!

Family and I went to this amazing St.Lawrence Market and it was so many shops inside for whatever you need. It had amazing Food options and so many Meats options also. What are the unique thing is how different culture kind of meat and cheese and fruits that were in this Market. The food was so fresh anywhere you tried to eat because it was made fresh right away. We try the pizza place and it was very delicious. The only reason why I give it a four star is because it would have been nice to see some Halal Options in Market as it had None and we had to find Cheese pizza to eat. Also bathroom could been cleaner! Overall Very Amazing and Unique Market to visit.

If you would love to visit local market as a tourist, this is the place to go! It has nice market atmosphere and I see long queue at many shops in the market by locals. It also cater both raw and ready to eat food. So you can buy beef steak to cook in your homestay or buy ready to eat food. Variety range from meat to seafood to fruits to bread to tarts to desserts and even maple syrup! Beautiful atmosphere and nice yummy food.... A nice brunch place and market!

Had a terrific time spending the day browsing St Lawrence Market. Bought an amazingly creative bouquet of flowers to brighten our hotel room. Had a delicious charcuterie lunch made from purchasing items from various vendors. Dessert was the largest berries we’ve ever seen, sweet, juicy, and delicious! Bought some pork belly to bring home after our trip. Purchased wines, a few souvenirs for our kids, generally had a nice day browsing through the enormous market. For reference I’d say it is about six times the size of Pike Place Market in Seattle.

A Fav forever!!! A staple in the city for us Torontonians and tourists! The new farmers market wing is great for local produce and deliciousness! You can literally find anything you need here. Spices, local meats, produce, tea, coffee, seafood, oysters, sandwiches, fresh bread, breakfast, lunch, fish and chips, charcuterie, ethnic foods, Latin foods, hot chocolate ... So much goodness!!! Pricing is a bit on the higher side but the vibe makes up for it!

But this market is quite different many tourist all over world come to visit this place. This is a food lover paradise. Local nearby farm product like fruits vegetables and pastries cheese even flower are all very fresh. But price is not cheap. Just buy what you can eat there and be sure to ask seller if the product you want to buy is allow to take out from there country and be sure also that you are allow to bring back to your country specially agricultural product and processed meat. Some countries have stricter bans than others

Fun place to hang out, spend half a day, grab some bites and explore new food. The weather was extremely nice the week I visited so we could sit outside under the sun as well. Seems like it’s less of fresh produce and more of imported or processed items. I only managed to see the old building and the fashion market. Would love to visit the North market next time as well.

The burgers were really tasty! 😋 Although the restaurant is proud of their signature smash burger, I personally loved the brisket burger — it was delicious. The only downsides were that it was a bit cold inside, and there were no tissues on the table — you had to ask for them.

Had a nice dinner with good food and friendly service at Smash. LA Mac and Cheese was very rich, creamy and flavorful. Brisket Grilled Cheese was pretty good, though it was a little on the sweeter side for my taste. I plan to try their smash burger next time. Everyone in our party of 5 enjoyed their meals. Looking forward to the next visit to Smash!

Lunch with colleagues, they have daily specials. I ordered the Smash burger, double beef patties, with cheese just $12.00 (regular $21.00) on Wednesday. With their own Smash lager $6.00 (regular $8.00), I upgraded the sides to sweet potato fries for extra $2.50. That is a perfect lunch in a hot summer. P.S: the calamari is a must try, you can’t stop once you have the first bite.

This is a modern take on Southern American cuisine. The best dish was definitely the beef brisket hush puppies – absolutely delicious. Surprisingly, the mac & cheese came in second. I used to think I didn’t like mac & cheese, but turns out I just hadn’t tried a good one before. The crab roe and shrimp scrambled egg toast was also very creative. If you’re a fan of carbs, this is a must-order. The French toast can be shared as a dessert – a great choice. The coffee is excellent and a must-try, and surprisingly, they have a wide variety of teas too. Overall, the prices are reasonable, service is very attentive, and the wine and cocktail list is extensive. This is actually a great spot for family gatherings – enjoyable for both young and old.

We recently ordered takeout from this restaurant, and unfortunately, it was a disappointing experience. The staff took our order but added an extra item we didn’t ask for. We ordered the seafood linguini and the smash burger with sweet potato fries. The sweet potato fries were soggy and overly soft, almost like they had been fried and then steamed. Considering the restaurant is very close to my home, they should have arrived in much better condition. The burger wasn’t great either—the patties were very thin and dry, and it came with wilted lettuce. One piece of fresh lettuce was included, which felt more like a fluke than a standard. The burger also left a greasy aftertaste. The seafood linguini lacked flavor and overall just didn’t taste good. On top of that, the food was overpriced for the quality we received. The service didn’t impress either. Unfortunately, I can’t recommend this place and won’t be returning.

This is my go to recommendation when folks in the Markham/Richmond Hill area ask for a nice place to dine. I have been multiple times and never been disappointed. It seems to be run very much like a family business. Service has always been impeccable. This week I dropped in on a Monday and it was $12 apps! Favourite was the chicken croquettes. Like arancini but with chicken inside. The ribs were good but I wouldn’t pay the full $24 regular price for a portion that size. Same goes for that fun pink drink I had. Not sure I’d pay $15 to have it again. But some folks priorities are different. I’d rather eat my money than drink it. Love how unassuming the place is tucked back in the corner of the plaza but once inside is spacious and well appointed. Truly flummoxed at the reviews that can possibly be giving lower than 5 stars.

Food was amazing and some had a different twist on things when other were what you find a a restaurant bar. I went with a 7 people and we were in front of the patio. Perhaps it was how they got their bigger group out faster but some of the staff did not completely close the door and it's was windy and we got the fresh air. That is the only negative. Over all it was nice and I may go back but not in front of the patio doors. They did ask people at the table if anyone is allergic to anything which i do like..

June 7, 2025 - 2nd visit 4/5 stars Brunch at Smash Kitchen and Bar was good. The Buttermilk Fried Chicken and Pancakes were good. The Buttermilk Fried Chicken was crispy, tender and flavourful. The pancakes were delicious with the maple syrup. The Breakfast Poutine was good. A great combo of crispy hash, sausage, bacon, fried egg, and veggies with gravy sauce. The coffee was smooth and not acidic. — March 22, 2025 - 1st visit 4/5 stars The BBQ Brisket Hash was good. The brisket was soft, tender and savoury. The hash (mini potato wedges) were crispy and seasoned well. The eggs and tomatoes were good too. Would definitely recommend if craving a good filling brisket and potato dish. The Classic Breakfast with Sausage was good. The eggs were perfectly cooked as over easy eggs. The sausage was good and not too salty. The hash (mini potato wedges) was crispy and flavourful. The bread was nicely toasted and was good to dip in the runny egg yolk :). It would have been nice to have some jam. The Mini French Toast was good. The French Toast was crispy yet soft, and was not too sweet. The blueberries and strawberries were mostly sweet with some tartness. The maple syrup was good. It would have been nice to have the maple syrup on the side. The coffee was mostly smooth with a hint of acidity. Overall, the brunch was good and filling at Smash Kitchen and Bar :)

The Caledonian is a Scottish pub in Toronto known for its extensive selection of over 200 whiskey malts and blends. The menu features classic dishes made with local produce, such as deep-fried Mars bars and haggis fritters. On select days, patrons can enjoy pints for only $5. This pub is popular among Celtic pub enthusiasts due to its great whisky menu and variety of heavy beers.
The Caledonian never disappoints. Food is always delicious, service friendly, and atmosphere cozy and fun. One of the best patios in the city. I've been here easily ten times and will definitely come back again.

Follow @bredgyeats for more food reviews and posts! There's a first time for everything, and today is a fine day to try both haggis in a taste of Scotland platter, or saffron in a luxurious saffron seafood risotto. Thankfully I didn't have to choose between the sausage roll, scotch egg or haggis, which was undoubtedly my favourite of the trio. Deep-fried to a satisfying crispy texture, the interior is tender and bursting with umami along with a delicious gaminess of lamb, which is what makes this animal one of my favourites to eat. I was only disappointed by only having one bite to ration. The sticky toffee pudding is an indulgent treat after eating all that fried stuff, a huge dose of sweetness from the butterscotch and moist, caramelized toffee pudding with chunks of dates inside, contrasted by the cold vanilla ice cream and slight bitterness of the cocoa powder.

Great Scottish Scotch Pub A great place to have dinner and scotch. So many to choose from. Can even keep your own bottle there! The staff are exceptional. Love the haggis!

I was really excited for the visit however it was a very mediocre experience. The server for our table had a very strange approach… there was a rush to order food and then when we mentioned we needed time she completely ignored us for what seemed like a long time even when we tried to get attention. Not a pleasant demeanour either. First time I’ve experienced a situation where the server refuses eye contact and just walks past. My food (steak pot pie) lacked salt Cocktails were good, the only positive in the evening. I think there is a bit of attitude that needs to be toned down so the customer can have a better experience.

Fantastic night at the Caledonian. Their servers know their scotch and the food was delicious. They also have a well lit back patio. Washrooms are downstairs.

Went for the whiskey tasting event. Host was knowledgeable and friendly. I hit the dish waitress was serving by accident and my fish and chips went flying. They replaced it and cleaned it no problem. Had a fun time with my friends. My friends devoured the mars bar and sticky toffee pudding so I'm sure they are great!

You don't have to be scottish to enjoy a visit. 600 whiskeys, some from distilleries that closed so limited stock. Staff and owner are very welcoming. Haggis, deep fried Mars bars, and much more. Kitchen on Sixth is a locally owned cafe in Toronto that offers traditional British comfort dishes in a cozy and rustic setting. The restaurant is known for its impressive seafood menu, featuring fresh dishes like prawn cocktails and potted shrimp potstickers. Customers have praised the generous portions of food, such as the full English brunch and the Stuffed Yorkie, which is described as a British take on poutine.
Fantastic Brunch & Cocktails – A Perfect Combination! We stopped by for a late brunch, and it turned out to be an amazing experience! The atmosphere was warm and inviting, with a cozy yet modern rustic touch. The food was beautifully presented and, most importantly, absolutely delicious. I had Eggs Benedict with a fresh side salad, and everything was cooked to perfection—the eggs were perfectly poached, the hollandaise sauce was rich and velvety, and the combination with tender meat on an English muffin made it a standout dish. My friend went for the omelet, which was also packed with flavor and paired well with a light and refreshing salad. After brunch, we decided to try their cocktails, and they were a pleasant surprise! The drinks were well-crafted, beautifully garnished, and had a great balance of flavors. The cocktail with cinnamon and citrus had a wonderful aromatic touch, while the herbal-infused drink was refreshing and smooth. Definitely a great way to extend our brunch experience. The service was friendly and attentive, making our visit even more enjoyable. If you’re looking for a great brunch spot with quality drinks, this place is absolutely worth a visit!

British Pub environment, faint smell of last night's beers, but to our surprise the brunch was excellent! Our server was friendly and you cannot go wrong with 5$ mimosas. Tasty mocktails too! Will definitely come back to sample other items. Our impulse adventure turned out to be quite satisfactory.

What a friendly environment! We went for brunch and we greeted by an atmosphere that felt like home. Friends gathering, and many regulars coming through to smiles and greetings. The brunch was spectacular! The full English and the breakfast poutine were sure highlights. Definitely returning for food again!

This location was a pleasant surprise for brunch. The location is surrounded by on street parking and lot parking on weekends. It can get busy no reservations necessary food was tasty. Portions were good. Options varied. The Location can get a bit loud as the dining room fills out. I would suggest arriving early to avoid waiting and to avoid the large groups. They do have a nice small patio at the side of the restaurant, which is great for outdoor dining, but further away from servers as it got busier the service became slower and we found ourselves trying to flag down our server overall, I would definitely recommend this location and will be back again

Fish & chips restaurant
Hamish's Kitchen Restaurant is a cozy spot in Toronto known for its tender fish with a light, crispy batter that's hard to beat. The restaurant also offers fried shrimp and scallops in a relaxed, floral-accented setting. Regulars have been enjoying the seafood platter for years and are now raving about the new deep-fried burger on the menu. Visitors are impressed by the delicious halibut, crispy batter, and generous portions of poutine with real cheese curds.
Now this is what a fish and chips meal should be about. The portion size is what it should be. The fries were hand cut, fresh and very tasty. The batter on the haddock was a great portion to fish ratio, flaky but not greasy, so too was the halibut. Surprisingly we were the only ones there at the time. Sophie the owner was extremely friendly, engaging and helpful. Overall good price and service for what we got. Definitely will return.

Such a good find... The fish was light and flaky, actually had flavour. The fries are definitely hand cut. Anyone who says otherwise is a hater. It's going to have some grease, it's deep fried. If you like fish and chips, you will like this place. A definite return on this one!

Very surprised with this little Gem. I have always seen this place but just randomly decided to go there. Excellent Fish and chips! Batter is almost like tempura, it's so delicious. Fries are hand cut. Very cool crowd of Scottish seniors filled the house. Lots of seating, parking. They have haggis and blood sausage ( call ahead to make sure they have it) simple fish and chips or burger menu. Loved it will return!

Got the haddock fish with onion rings, which was delicious and a generous portion. Everything is perfectly fried, crispy yet tender and moist. You still get the greasy aftertaste though. Can't wait to try other items on their menu!
Melvin C — Google review
The place was practically empty with only one other table there when we got there. Simple menu, fish and chips with some Scottish fare as well. We each got the fish of course, one of us got haddock and the other halibut. The batter is amazing on the fish! Not heavy at all, very light and crispy. It also doesn't hold a ton of grease so it doesn't even feel guilty to eat it! I loved how the food came out at the perfect eating temperature, despite being made fresh. I prefer to be able to eat my food when it's placed in front of me, and not 15 minutes later when it's cooled down. Unsure if this was intentional, but kudos regardless. Seems like a nice little family run business. Highly recommend if you want super crispy, lightly battered fish!

First time here by the friend’s recommendation, really satisfied with the perfect fish & chips. Still very crispy when I had it at home. It’s 2 orders cod in the picture and one serving comes with 2 pieces of cod. Fries are fresh and can tell were deep fried in clean beef dripping. Anyway will try to have it in store next time. Really enjoyed the dinner!

My favourite fish n chips. You can get the right coleslaw, an Irn Bru and anything else to get a proper Scottish dinner. Been enjoying this place since they moved from Pharmacy and it’s always been excellent. And to those who require it, the location is wheelchair accessible.

Nestled in Scarborough, McCowan Fish & Chips is a hidden gem that serves up classic fish and chips with a delightful twist. The menu features hand-dipped halibut, haddock, and cod, all fried to perfection and served alongside generous portions of golden French fries. While many patrons opt for takeout due to the bustling atmosphere, there's also the option to enjoy your meal on-site.
The most amazing fish and chips you can possibly get in Scarborough! No doubt. Also friendliest family owned service. While we ate an old lady expressed how her and her late husband used to frequent their restaurant. After her late husband’s passing she still came to relive the good memories they had at this restaurant! We only got to try the cod and haddock, I preferred the cod since it was a fish that was smoother and more moist. Yet the batter was still super crispy!

Great place for Haddock Fish n' Chips! Update... We went back here, as a planned outing, just to have it again. It was better than last time. Amazing! This is the best place to get Fish n' Chips in Scarborough and you get more than what you pay for. Each of us got 2 big pieces of Haddock fish and the fries were old school and perfect. We ate sit down and the tables were a bit small for all the stuff we ordered. The coleslaw is good and they had lemon wedges this time, not always. You will need a to-go box for about $14 a person before tax and tip. Really good and not greasy. I like it better than St. Andrews or High Street. They just don't have as nice of seating and limited space. In the summer I do a tailgate party in the parking lot next door, outdoor Chippy' complete with liquor license, who cares. Bring a chair.
Cookie B — Google review
My go-to fish & chips spot! The batter on the fish is so light and delicious. They use the same batter on their onion rings - which are even better than the chips, in my opinion. Portion sizes are huge and prices are extremely reasonable. Family-owned spot, the lady working there is so sweet! Cash and debit only at this place.

The best fish and chips in Scarborough. Servings are generous. Not overly greasy. Highly recommend calling in your order and picking up. The prices here are really reasonable. They rightfully up-charge if you order through any of the apps, so it’s best to pay the restaurant directly.

Service was really good, incredibly friendly and welcoming. Food was great, loved the light batter on the halibut, haddock, scallops and shrimp. Beets had an interesting pickled flavor that cut through the fried food, good combination.

Fish and chips are good, but really oily. Onion rings were bad, but tried all the fish and it was great. I ordered 7 meals for take out but only got 5 packets of tartar sauce, and 1 coleslaw. $100+ order for 7 people, 0 utensils and not enough condiments for everyone.

My family's favourite local fish and chips place. The halibut is nice and flaky while the chips (thick-cut fries) are crisp on the outside, soft on the inside. The portions a decent size and neatly packaged; leftover fries will keep well for toasting later. And very polite, friendly staff!

British Style Fish and Chips is a classic English dish offered at a fast-food stop in a simple storefront. The menu includes various fish options such as halibut, haddock, pollock, and cod, along with sides like onion rings, poutine, gravy, and coleslaw. Located on Dundas Street East and open Monday to Saturday, this place offers fresh fried fish made to order at reasonable prices.
If you're looking for an old school fish and chips stop, with great Halibut, Cod, Haddock, and even Scallops, coupled with amazing home cut fries, cooked to a perfect golden brown, you need to try out British Style Fish and Chips. Mainly I go for the Halibut, as it has deeper flavour, and the servings here are ample and filling. The coleslaw is great too. It comes wrapped in a wax paper, and then regular paper, mimicking newspaper wrap of yesteryear. The owner is so hard working, and he's consistently over the frier moving the fish around the hot oil, like a parent tending to a child. There are condiments laid out across the counter top, and your to take anything from salt, brown vinegar, to tartar sauce free of charge. Street parklng If you're looking for authentic fish and chips, with both the fish and chip (fries) being 10/10 this is your stop. IMHO. PS I love food, so I don't mess around when I eat somewhere. I'm not wasting a meal on something meh. Other food lovers will know what I mean :).

My wife and I visited this place after it was recommended by her father and I gotta say, he knows his stuff. This place is great! I have tried a few fish and chips and this is definitely on the higher end of my list. The fish is delicious, batter is good, chips are good. The gravy in the poutine was not too salty and tasted just right. Loved it. And the prices are completely reasonable! I really enjoyed the fact that they fry the fish as you order it. It’s as fresh as can be! Definitely recommend it!!!

As a Brit who hasn't been home for a little while I was craving some good old fish and chips. The cod and chips were pretty close to what I get back home, although not quite the same but the best I've had in Canada so far. Food taste and portions were great but the only negative was that I had to wait 25 minutes for it to be ready. Not sure how the UK churns them out so quickly but wait time here was the thing that let them down. That being said, it was worth the wait if you're craving fish and chips.

We went for take out on Good Friday , which had a line up and took some time to wait for it. The haddock was very delicious, but found the halibut over cooked and very dry. The coleslaw was good, the French fries seems to not have a consistent cook as some were over cooked then others

Nice and fluffy battered fish with great taste and spectacular service. Went here with my mother and we both ordered the halibut with a side of chips and a side of onion rings. Great portions so you don’t feel super oily afterwards and everything is made fresh to order.

Wow this place has been around since the 70s, hardworking owner which is nice to see. Place was a bit run down like you would expect for the location. One of the boxes fell on the ground and the worker picked it right back up to put the food in. Wish I didn't see that, otherwise the fish and chips were actually good. We also tried the pineapple and calamari, they use the same batter for everything so it was a bit over whelming towards the end.

Halibut House Fish and Chips Inc. is a laid-back local chain that offers a variety of fried and grilled seafood, including cod and halibut, along with freshly cut fries. The restaurant prides itself on blending sustainability and quality, serving fresh and flavorful wild-caught halibut that's perfect for fish and chips. Located in Toronto, it's known as one of the best spots to indulge in guilt-free seafood delights.
Fantastic fish and chips! Fast friendly service! I've been to a few different Halibut House locations but this one is my favourite. It's always clean, the service is attentive and welcoming (thank you to Dina), and the food is amazing! We had the fish and chips, both halibut. The food is made fresh to order and it is delicious! When our orders came to the table, the fish was hot and fresh and not greasy or oily at all. It's crispy, crunchy on the outside, with the perfect amount of batter, not too much, just right. The fish itself was a good portion, thick and steaky. The fries must be hand cut daily, they are amazing! Thick and crispy, fried to perfection, again not greasy or oily. The portion was huge! I found myself tapping out but continued to eat them all... they were that good! Even the coleslaw was bang on. It wasn't creamy, which I prefer; fresh, with the right amount of tartness. We thoroughly enjoyed our meals! Dina took care of us when we were there and she was great! She's one of the reasons why this location stands out above the others. Excellent food and service at a good value, highly recommended!

This place is so so delicious if your craving some fish and chips. There plates are big and the fish is huge. Hot! Crunchy and juicy!!! Yummy!!! They have all kinds of dishes. I'll definitely be back again to try some more. There tartar sauce is on point and tastes so so good. I asked if they sell the tartar sauce but unfortunately they dont. I was very impressed with the salad I had. I could taste the salad was so fresh and cut very nicely. everything tasted very very delicious. I highly recommend this place to go for a bite to eat or take out. The service was excellent and the atmosphere was great. I'll be back soon!

Got there around 7:20. Nobody was up at the front and waited for about 5 minutes. Fish was decent but the fries were not fresh. Definitely just heated up after I arrived or simply kept warm after being fried an hour before. I am thinking to try this place between 6 and 6:30 when it's probably busier... At least then I should be guaranteed freshly fried fries. Salad that I ordered was good.

I was craving fish & chips and was near Halibut House on St Clair, so decided to try it for the first time. It wasn’t busy and I ordered take out. It was mediocre. I liked that they didn’t over salt the fish or chips, but the fish and chips had no flavour at all so had to add vinegar, salt etc but should not have to as the batter should provide that crispy goodness and flavour alone! The kids were not impressed either and thought the fries were not good. Overall disappointed and it was not cheap either. Not going back

Mira Mira Diner is a new addition to Toronto's dining scene, located in a charming peach-hued former bank building in the Beaches. The diner is led by chef Amira Becarevic and partner Justin Cheung, offering elevated and elegant comfort food. The menu features a variety of options, including truffle deviled eggs, coconut shrimp with a delightful dipping sauce, grilled Caesar salad, and fresh burrata.
THIS PLACE IS AMAZING BRUNCH that I’ve ever gone ! Well seasoned, Surprisingly they are using sweet potato instead which I am not a fan of it but this one is EXCEPTIONAL But this combination blew my mind. I even finished it until no crumbs left on my plate. I came here around 3 pm and there are transition menu from lunch to dinner. However I made it through to get this ! 💖 Will definitely recommend to my friends and families

Best brunch in Toronto! Anyone leaving a bad review does not understand true quality in the ingredients & taste! Every dish is crafted to perfection & even more delicious than it is admirable .. worth every dollar (& priced fairly when factoring in taste/quality). This place is for true foodies & not your basic brunch. They make each dish their own incomparable to other places. Flavour in each dish is out of this world. The hollandaise sauce is not your typical, it has a delicious tangy twist. Their pancakes were so buttery, fluffy & to die for (strawberry compote upgrade is so worth it). The croissants were fresh. Service was attentive & great as well. This is a diner, not fine dining so some people need to ease up. We love Mira Mira! 🩷

Came here for dinner on a Friday night with a friend. We sat in a lovely patio area along the side street. This was great as I do not enjoy sitting on patio right next to a main street. Patio seating was adorned with cushions, standing umbrellas, fencing, and a bit of greenery that provided a little bit of privacy from the patio and the sidewalk/street. The service was excellent. I think our server’s name was Joe (at least that was the name on our bill). He checked on us periodically, but never hovered or left us alone for too long. We shared a Burrata appetizer, the rigatoni à la vodka, chicken schnitzel with mashed potatoes, and a tiramisu. The dishes were fairly simple and well executed, apart from the tiramisu which is brought in from elsewhere (still tasty though). If you’re driving, parking can be a little tricky as it is street parking only. We had a lovely evening and I can’t wait to go back.

We had dinner here. Very cute restaurant. Highly recommend the rigatoni a la vodka and shrimp scampi. Both were so good and worked well together! Their pineapple drink is also very refreshing and sweet. I'd love to try their brunch!

Great spot with a solid and diverse brunch offering. Pancakes are delicious and buttery and the mushroom Bennie’s was delicious! We reserved a table for a larger group to avoid a wait. The one negative was that the hard surfaces really bounced sound around and it was a bit hard to have a conversation when the restaurant was full.

Loved my dinner on the patio at MiraMira. Jazz Festival was fun - an East Coast band played right in front of the restaurant. Dinner: Shrimp Scampi with Polenta & Asparagus was delicious. Wait staff very attentive & pleasant.
Mji F — Google review
Made reservation for positive reviews as well as the menu posted online. Surprised by a totally different menu. Soon after being seated, we were told multiple items were not available (2/3 under “classical”; half of the beer options). Not a good vibe to begin with. To play safe, we ordered something basic - schnitzel, pasta, and fish & chips. None of us could finish our meals. Way too salty to taste any other flavours. Seems like their regular chef was gone! Worst thing is that we witnessed how a woman of colour was totally ignored after seated. It’s not like the staff were occupied. That lady looked upset and took off. To give Mira Mira the benefit of the doubt, they might be better with their brunches as per the positive reviews they’ve received.
RiCK S — Google review
this rating is for the food, not the service. our server was really nice and welcoming. great service but the food….pretty mid…everything tasted either too salty or no seasoning at all….we really didn’t like anything we’ve ordered…had better quality and taste elsewhere…disappointing

Fish & chips restaurant
Golden Crisp Fish & Chips is a long-standing establishment that has been serving classic fish and chips for over half a century. Originally a bakery built in 1913, it was converted into a fish and chips store in 1935. The Vandekemp family took over the business in 1961 and continues to run it today. The menu includes coleslaw, poutine, hand-battered fish, fresh-cut fries, and options for those who prefer chicken over fish.
I can't remember having better fish and chips anywhere else. Everything was fresh and crispy. The place isn't a run of the mill profits first franchise...it's got that family run feel to it. The painted saws really got my attention....beautiful. Prices are very good too...check it out!

Great family run business. The folks are very caring of their customers and offer nice fish and chips. We had to wait in line because we went on Good Friday. They were only offering the halibut and chips combo for the holiday. The fries were very nice, cooked to perfection and the halibut was a nice meaty piece with a crispy and light batter. A recommended place to try. The tartar sauce was not home made and came in a packet and was a bit too sweet for my taste.

Friendly Staff, Fast service, great ambiance, Im always looking for great fish and chips and I've finally found an amazing place. Expensive but i don't mind if the food is good. Best part is you can control the batter. Tell them light batter. Great Experience.

Amazing friendly staff. The first time I went I felt like I was visiting a diner in a small town with all the cozy feels. Great delicious food. My wife, who doesn't like fish, was pleasantly surprised (she got a recommended less fishy tasting fish). But they also have chicken burger\fingers for those that can't handle fish. We'll be going back for sure!

Pure and true This is one of the best for sure! Great service and a nice history! Great meal for the kids Very easy to feed and the best part is that the batter doesn't slide off the fish Very fresh No fishy smell Repeat? 1000%

Fish & chips restaurant
St Johns Fish & Chips is a classic British meal that originated from the industrial north for chips and Londons East End for fried fish. The freshly cooked fish and chips are covered in salt and vinegar, wrapped in newspaper, creating an authentic experience. Customers rave about the divine batter on the fish, its delicious taste, and generous portions. Many recommend trying their fish tacos and calamari as well.
Recently placed a take-out order from St. Johns Fish & Chips and it didn't disappoint. We had the classic fish & chips and it was delicious!!!

If you love a classic fish and chips this is the place! Always so fresh and the service is so friendly every time I go in. Will keep coming back when I’m near the village and my go to on Uber eats!💚

My favourite go to for Fish & Chips. Love the fish and especially love their wedge fries.
Maurice ( — Google review
We tried the fish & chips for the 1st time on Canada Day as takeout in the area and we were pleasantly surprised. Their online photos resemble their food. Perfectly cooked, non-greasy, moist and generous portions of fish and chips came with yummy potatoe wedges, lemon wedge, tartar sauce and coleslaw (wish it was a bit bigger since it was so good). Might be our new "go-to" for fish & chips in the village.
B C — Google review
I ordered their fish and chips through ritual, and since it’s a long walk(20 minutes) I left early to grab it, when I was almost there, I get a notification saying that my order was cancelled and they can’t fulfill it. And when I try to order on ritual again, it seems like it’s still available, I feel like if they can’t fulfill the orders maybe they should take it off the menu
