Dim sum restaurant
Seafood restaurant
Sun Sui Wah Seafood Restaurant is a renowned Chinese dining spot in Vancouver, offering an elegant setting and authentic Cantonese cuisine. The restaurant is famous for its handcrafted dim sum, premium live seafood, traditional barbeque pork, and roasted squab. Guests can enjoy family-style dining with sharing platters on a rotating table while indulging in the lively atmosphere.
Came here as we have visiting family and wanted a nice restaurant with a private room. To book a private room, you'll need to order a minimum $ amount. We ordered their top set menu and 2 other dishes and it was more than enough to cover for the private room. All I can say was this is one of the most memorable meals in a long time. The food and service was top notch. We had a dedicated server for our room who was very attentive. Each food item was a "wow" experience. The best dish that everyone loved was the "Chef Special Slow Cook Braised Beef Ribs". The beef ribs was fall off the bone and juicy. It was interesting as it had small potatoes with other veggies that made it feel like a western dish. High praise to the chefs and server that day. Will definitely be coming back here in the future. Thanks for the wonderful experience.

My first dim sum place in Vancouver was a letdown at Dynasty Seafood and I wanted to give it another shot without having to go all the way to the Richmond since there is not much to do there aside from eat. Located on the second floor. Walked in solo on a Saturday around noon and they seated me immediately. The place was packed with Chinese people. The menu is typical, nothing too special or fancy. I ordered siu mai, chicken feet, lotus leaf sticky rice, and xlb. All the food was pretty good. A bit salty as expected. Prices were fair for the portions and quality. Total came out to around $50 before tip. Typical Chinese restaurant service. You have to flag them down if you need anything. Fairly large restaurant. Overall, it's an above average dim sum spot. I recommend it
Tim — Google review
Enjoyed an exceptional dinner at this restaurant. Ordered the 2 course Peking duck dish. Very tasty - crispy duck skin with light pancakes; and the lettuce wrap dish included the duck meat along with crunchy water chestnuts.
We also ordered seafood chow mein with extra vegetables. This was nicely seasoned (not overly salty - which is what we like). The atmosphere was relaxing and not noisy. We could have a nice conversation. In addition service was excellent and staff were very attentive. Highly recommend dining here for high quality Chinese cuisine.
Jennifer — Google review
Solid Chinese classics and banquet food. They have private rooms you can book for events as well. Each dish was tasty. The dishes that shined more than others were the honey garlic spareribs, ginger scallion lobster, the crispy soy sauce chicken, and the baked tapioca. The steamed fish was average and a bit tough. The noodles and fried rice were standard. The presentation of the dishes were nice. Overall a great Chinese food dining experience.
Munchica — Google review
At first, I was a bit worried when I saw how old and run-down the entrance looked, but once inside, the decor was actually quite nice. We came for dim sum and were pleasantly surprised by how tasty everything was! The honey and garlic spareribs were super crispy, and the deep-fried squid was fresh and perfectly chewy. For dessert, we ordered the mango pudding, which came shaped like a corn cob—definitely unexpected! It looked fun, but the taste was a bit disappointing. It didn’t really have any mango flavor—actually, it didn’t have much flavor at all. Still, it was an interesting presentation!
Raymond L — Google review
This name has been here for years. In the past it was definitely considered one of the top best places to go. We scroll through the years to now and well… the dim sum has suffered in my opinion. But their dinner is definitely worthy as a heavyweight contender of Vancouver. Banquet style dishes. Quality service. Quality food. Dinner is amazing and I highly recommend this place for anyone. They host special occasions and events as well. I’ve been to this location many times for wedding events and birthdays, dinner service of course. Just wish their dim sum felt more premium…
Eddy W — Google review
I really like the good customer service from this place, they are very attentive and food is ready in a few minutes after placing your order. There is a large variety of dishes and options I highly recommend. If you are on a gluten free diet this is not probably your best option.
Derick F — Google review
An established restaurant with pretty good food — great for family gatherings. The roasted pigeon needs to be ordered in advance.

Western Lake Chinese Seafood Restaurant is a bustling and popular spot known for its traditional decor and delectable dim sum. With over a decade of experience, this restaurant has garnered praise from both locals and visitors, earning awards such as the Critics Choice Signature Dish Awards. The warm and inviting ambiance, coupled with an extensive menu curated by a seasoned Master Chef, offers a delightful blend of classic Chinese favorites and innovative dishes.
It was a friend's recommended place, and we made our reservation ahead. They really do have a waiting queue if you don't make a reservation ahead. We really enjoyed our first visit to this dim sum place! They do have decent types of dimsums on the menu, and the service was attentive, friendly, and the food came out fresh and quick. The dim sums were flavorful and well-prepared — definitely some of the best I’ve had in a while. A great spot for anyone who loves good food with good service.

YouTube helped us discover this gem in Vancouver and I'm so glad we went! Walking in, it was nicely filled on a Monday night so we knew it was a good sign. There was a dinner special and we were able to have king crab with just 4 people at a lower price than their usual serving for 6! The legs steamed with garlic was absolutely heavenly. We asked to have the left over sauce to be tossed with noddles for a fee. It was too good to waste! The service here was next level. The servers were all so attentive and kind. A place with delicious food, attentive service, and authentic vibe?? 10/10 would eat here again.
Jesaca — Google review
My family comes here all the time because we love the food. Our favourites are the chicken feet and egg plant with shrimp paste on top! This time we tried their gelatin desserts and they were a big hit, highly recommend! We got the goji berry with lychee and the match coconut milk. Of course we also got mango pudding but this is also an all time fave! Note: it’s always busy especially on the weekends, so make resos!
Lhyanne S — Google review
Decent Cantonese restaurant. Would love to have tried a better menu because what I had some ups and downs. Service was fine. Ingredients were fresh. Flavours were sometimes not there. The fried rice was sort of clumpy and had little to no flavour other than salt. The chicken was aromatic but had a weird aftertaste. However, I liked the seafood and their Ximiru dessert was the best I’ve had in any Cantonese seafood restaurant.
Ryan — Google review
Can’t believe I could enjoy this kind of food at this price. The staff weren’t exactly friendly but not rude either. The place was packed so a reservation was a must but it was totally worth the wait. Especially the shrimp dim sums were all amazing.
Ra D — Google review
Western Lake is one of my favorite dimsum spots and the only issue is the smaller size of the restaurant can lead to longer wait times in the weekend in particular. Going on a weekday like Thursday etc is definitely better for seating and reserving a table days in advance is still recommended. The ha gao and sui mai here are on the larger side and classic dimsum dishes I always enjoy, plus the beef rice roll. The only dimsum item they sorely miss is the fried taro puff/dumpling. The service is often very good and the staff is nice and helpful if you need a recommendation based on what you like. Price is pretty standard and will put you back from around $35-$45 per person depending how much you eat. Price is within range of all the better dimsum places our there.
T L — Google review
I used to love coming here for dim sum, but lately the prices have gone up while the service has gone down. The flavors have become blander—it really needs more seasoning, especially the chicken feet and shrimp eggplant dishes. On the bright side, the portions are still among the largest you’ll find for dim sum in Vancouver. The siu mai is still good, though not quite as tasty as it used to be.
Minh K — Google review
This is a classic dimsum in east vancouver that’s been here forever. It’s known to have big dimsum and lineups! The food is not bad but it’s difficult to come here without a reservation— prepare to be turned away. Their dinner menu is pretty good, arguably better than dimsum.

Kirin Restaurant is a renowned Chinese dining establishment known for its classic Chinese dishes and inventive daily dim sum offerings. Located near Vancouver City Hall, the restaurant boasts a polished dining room with floor-to-ceiling windows offering spectacular views of Downtown Vancouver. The menu features a wide range of dessert options, including warm egg tarts, chilled tapioca mango soup, and purple yam pastries. Additionally, Kirin's commitment to seasonal and local ingredients is reflected in their monthly-changing dim sum menu.
Absolutely loved my experience at Kirin Restaurant! I was extremely happy with everything from start to finish. The service was amazing—attentive, friendly, and made me feel genuinely welcome. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. Will definitely be coming back. Highly recommend!
Gabriel T — Google review
Our experience here was excellent. The food was delicious and the service was very friendly. Highlights were the perfectly prepared green beans, the beef brisket and tendon on rice noodles, and the har gow. The decor is basic but functional.
Dennis G — Google review
Visited for lunch. We were immediately seated and the wait staff was pleasant/efficient/attentive. We enjoyed the prawn dim sum, pork in consumé, stir fry beef and sweet & sour fish fillet with pineapple. Everything was DELICIOUS!
Tami R — Google review
I had the pleasure of dining at Kirin Chinese Restaurant, and the experience was nothing short of breathtaking. From the moment we arrived, the service was exceptional—especially thanks to Eddie Ng, the Senior Assistant Manager. His attentiveness, professionalism, and genuine hospitality made a lasting impression and truly elevated our visit. We came for dim sum, and every dish was exquisitely prepared—fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. You can really taste the quality and tradition in each bite. The ambiance was elegant yet welcoming, making it a perfect setting for both family gatherings and special occasions. Overall, this was one of the best dining experiences I’ve had in a long time. I highly recommend Kirin, and a big thank you to Eddie Ng for making it so memorable

The parking situation for this store like many three area is either done by street parking or a nearby parking lot. The decor is simple and typical for a dim sum restaurant. The staff is nice. The waiters was dressed in suites. The dim sum items were delicious.
Ray J — Google review
Lovely Chinese restaurant if you are craving some dim sum. The food is absolutely delicious. The staff are very polite and do their best to give as much and as fast service as possible. All the food was served perfectly warm and when he asked for takeout, it was perfect perfectly wrapped. The only downside was that the restaurant was packed so the staff sometimes did not have time to bring the thing that you wanted as fast as possible, which is very understandable hopefully more people get hired so they can provide faster service in rush hours.

A truly excellent dining experience. Try their roasted pigeon and crispy duck, I’m confident you won’t be disappointed.

Chinese restaurant
Dynasty Seafood Restaurant is an upscale establishment known for its intricate dim sum and elevated Chinese dishes. The restaurant offers a sophisticated setting with live-seafood tanks, adding to the dining experience. Despite being renowned for its dine-in experience, Dynasty Seafood has also proven itself adept at providing top-quality takeout options.
While it doesn't have a star, this place is on the Michelin Guide and so, we wanted to try it out. Had dimsum and overall, food is good quality and made with nice ingredients (the steamed crab and shrimp dumpling had solid chunks of the shellfish in the filling). Service is prompt and attentive. Pretty clean and not too noisy. Just keep in mind that for the step up, you will be paying more.
Henry D — Google review
One of my favorite dim sum restaurants in Vancouver! This place is great for both dim sum and fancy Cantonese dining. I have come here on numerous occasions, including lunch with friends and celebratory dinners. I love the dim sum options here, but I also really love the course meal combos. They are always a mix of meat, seafood, vegetables, and broth. I'm always satisfied with the food. Definitely recommend this place if you're in town!
Chloe L — Google review
I recently visited Dynasty Seafood Restaurant and, while it’s listed in the Michelin Guide, I found the overall experience to be somewhat underwhelming. The food quality was decent, but it did not stand out compared to many other dim sum restaurants in Vancouver. Most dishes tasted fairly standard, and I didn’t notice the exceptional flavor or creativity I would expect from a Michelin-recognized establishment. The pricing was also on the higher side. While I understand that premium ingredients and location can influence cost, the value didn’t quite match the price point when compared to other dim sum places in the city offering similar or better quality. Service was another area that could be improved. The staff seemed rushed and not very attentive, which affected the dining experience. For a restaurant of this reputation, I expected a higher level of hospitality and organization. Overall, while the ambiance was pleasant and the menu selection was solid, the experience did not fully meet the expectations set by its Michelin Guide recognition. P.s: They have changed the menu so there are many of dishes that we saw on Google Reviews were no longer available.
Tram N — Google review
I have been here a few times over the year and the quality of their food has remained consistently high. We ordered five dim sums today. 1) Pan fried rice roll. Was surprisingly good by itself, it would become even more flavourful once you added in the hoisin and peanut sauce that came with it. 2) Steamed truffle and mushroom dumplings. Again it was more delicious than expected. Refreshing ad well. 3) Steamed tripe and tendon. One of the classic dim sum that did not disappoint. Tasted like what it should be. It looked so good that I forgot to take a picture before I started eating it! 4) Pan fried radish cake. It was another item that exceeded expectations. I appreciated there were still big chunks of radish inside that added to the flavour, juiciness and texture. Again, I was too excited to wait for the picture! 5) Traditional steamed cake. Lived up to the name, tasted exactly like the good old days. This place was small but mighty. I liked that the tables were not too packed together. Bright with a good view facing downtown. You can see BC place from the window.
Joey L — Google review
This dim sum spot is likely one of the few downtown Vancouver Chinese restaurants serving traditional dim sum. The taste, however, doesn’t quite match the level of restaurants in Richmond, where there are more authentic Cantonese options. I appreciate their creative signature dim sum like the squid ink dumplings, squid ink cakes, and abalone pastries, which show effort and originality. However, some dishes could be improved — for example, the squid ink cake had a slightly oily aftertaste, which was a bit disappointing. A nice perk: if you visit before 11:30 AM, there’s a 15% discount, and dim sum customers also get two hours of free parking — a big plus for a downtown location. Overall, it’s a decent option if you’re downtown and want dim sum, but not quite at the same level as top restaurants in the Chinese hubs outside the city.
Wales R — Google review
Dim sum 🥟 is one of my favourite breakfast food and comfort food for a long time! Used to live in Hong Kong for while, I am confident to say, the food here is quite good and delicious and authentic! Some of them might be a bit off but mostly are pretty fresh and yummy to eat! Also really good to welcome people from Other country or cities when they are curious about how “Chinese” food are! Will continue coming here sine this is already my 4-5th time here for lunch/brunch already! Oh and a important tip, when you park downstairs which says it’s “pay parking” but remember don’t pay first, just go directly to the restaurant and in the front door there’s a iPad thing you can key in your license plate and the parking fee will be automatically waved!
Seraphine B — Google review
Pretty average dim sum place compared to SF bay area standards. Walked in on a Thursday at 11:30 am and was seated immediately. It got busy after a while. I ordered the siu mai $12.38, lotus sticky rice $12.98, chicken feet $11.98, durian mochi $11.98. The best item was the durian mochi. Made in house, according to the server. Thin mochi skin, not Japan mochi texture status, but the durian filling was excellent and generously filled. The other dishes were decent but very average. Service was decent. I didn't appreciate that they charged for regular water. 1 star off just for that. Clean restaurant. Pretty much all the customers were Chinese. I don't recommend
Tim — Google review
Starting our morning with the finger licking crab which we indulged for 2 hrs…dimsum was not as expected. The server took a wrong order, might due to unclear communication? They cannot cancel the order stating the chef is working on the plain porridge already.. servers kept pass by and observe us if done😅 just wondering if this is the Vancouver normal level service? But all things are part of the journey. It was a usual weekday, and long line for seats. Don’t enjoy the food too much, and be considerate😅 Overall the food is worth 5 stars😃

Welcome to Pink Pearl, a vibrant gem in Vancouver's Chinese dining landscape! This expansive restaurant is a favorite for banquets and gatherings, where the air buzzes with laughter and the delightful sounds of clinking cutlery. With over 40 years of culinary expertise, Pink Pearl has mastered the art of dim sum, offering an array of delectable dishes that will tantalize your taste buds.
Pink pearl is a large and spacious Chinese restaurant that specializes in banquets, special dinners, weddings, and large events. They still push the dim sum carts around for some items, or you can select from the paper they give you. There's also prizes to be claimed if you sign up for their membership card. The food tasted good, and I'm sure Pink Pearl is one of the few places left with a large dance floor.

We had lunch at a dim sum restaurant and were pleased with the overall experience. The food quality was good, and the dim sum was served in traditional trolleys, bringing a nostalgic touch that reminded me of my childhood. It was a charming experience to see the carts rolling by, offering a variety of freshly steamed and fried delights. The restaurant is spacious, and we didn’t have to wait for a table, which made the visit even more enjoyable. However, the servers were a bit pushy, frequently asking if we wanted to take certain dishes. While their enthusiasm is understandable, a more relaxed approach would have made the experience even better. That said, the classic trolley service and good food make this a great place for a traditional dim sum outing.
Danny C — Google review
Went there to try their dim sums during lunch time on a weekday, not very busy. Services were exceptionally attentive, got greeted & served with very friendly attitudes. The restaurant environment was bright & clean. Besides ordering from the dim sum order sheets, there are also dim sum carts around so you can pick what you like and enjoy the food instantly. Tastes of dim sums were okay but overall was a bit pricey compared to other dim sum restaurants (especially those located in Richmond). Still recommended!

The food was decent. The waiters and waitresses were quite nice compared with other dim sum restaurants. We went there on Saturday around 10:30, and there were plenty of empty tables. Most of the customers started coming in around 11:30 onwards.

We were seated right away! Ample free parking (~10 spots) on the restaurant property made it easy. The dim sums were super juicy and packed with fillings! The pea shoots were fresh and portion was huge! They were sooo delicious..🤤 Service was fast and friendly. If I have to be picky, the xiao long bao was just okay. But everything else was heavenly delicious! I will definitely come back! We were 1000% satisfied!

OH PINK PEARL!! It's my favorite dimsum place of all time. I've been coming here since I was a kid. The service is great. Very attentive, especially since we've been long-time customers. They are so friendly with us and always treat us with kindness and like family. My family and I ordered the durian mochi dessert, and it was delicious if you like durian. The stir-fried pea shoots with garlic, always a classic, and a perfect side of vegetables. The deep-fried taro dumpling, the crumbs of it are so tasty, and I always pick it off the plate. The taro and meat combo goes well, and it's a pretty big bite. The siu mai(steamed pork dumpling) and har gow(steamed shrimp dumpling), a classic. Always a must in ordering at dimsum. Delicious and you can never go wrong with it. Also big in portion. The XO daikon, it comes in little cubes. And I normally get the daikon in the big rectangle size, but decided to try their xo style. It's very tasty, but if you like spicy, you can ask for extra spice. Deep fried squid, my favorite dish since I was a kid. I haven't seen it anywhere else, and I'll always order 2 to share with the family.. but mostly for me! The deep fried tofu with shrimp, with some sweet chili sauce. It always comes out hot and burning, but once it cools, it's very soft to eat, and the sauce helps the tofu taste. Football dumpling!! Also, a favorite of mine. Greasy and has some meat inside. It's chewy, and every bite of that is perfection. The meat balls aren't bad ! I'm not a fan of too much greens, as it gets overwhelming for me. But the meat itself is good. Lastly, the spareribs, mmmhmm, always steaming hot and a must get as well. Honestly, I love this place and highly recommend it. It always feels like home, and the food always hits the spot. I love you pink pearl !

They were practically empty when we visited. The portions are HUGE and so are the prices. The interior was outdated and unwelcoming the staff were all friendly enough - but the food was just okay, not much taste/flavor on anything we had.

Nestled in Vancouver, Jade Dynasty Restaurant offers a unique dining experience that combines culinary simplicity with excellence. Despite its limited variety of steam dumplings, the restaurant has made a name for itself by perfecting the basics and offering acclaimed Cantonese cuisine. What sets Jade Dynasty apart is its innovative use of local ingredients, ensuring that every dish is prepared using the freshest produce and seafood from the surrounding region.
Everything we ordered was fresh and tasty. We walked in around noon and were seated right away. The food came out quickly, and there was a good variety of dishes to choose from. Would definitely come back & try other dishes.

Amazing restaurant in Chinatown. Very clean, including the bathroom. Very friendly staff. Be patient, our server was very helpful, but English was her second language. Eggplant was cooked perfectly Shrimp and scallop dish was amazing. Cooked perfectly, amazing delicate sauce. Very fresh!

Food was okay, half great and half so so. The sesame ball was really good and so does the steamed vermicelli roll. The chicken feet and the pork ribs were not very good. The long hair women who was my server probably didn’t get up from the right side of bed, was extremely rude. I don’t recommend this place.
Julia L — Google review
This place was amazing. The server, though not extremely conversant, did her job well. It had a nice atmosphere, not too busy, and we got our food fairly quickly. Though it might take longer if it’s more busy. My party and I came in the morning, ready for some breakfast dim sum, and we were not disappointed. The siu mai was amazing, far superior to our usual. The ha gao was well made. Usually the texture of the dumpling is off, but here it wasn’t. I tried the eggplant stuffed with shrimp paste for the first time here, and it was amazing. I am not much of an eggplant fan, but was pleasantly surprised with the taste. As for the rolls, I love the crystal rolls with shrimp in them, and this place makes them amazingly. Though they did fall apart—as they usually do—they were delicious. Such an amazing meal was quite cheap, and I would 100% recommend this place to someone visiting Vancouver. 10/10

We stopped in at Jade Dynasty for an early dinner on a Monday night. We ordered 4 dim sum menu items: veggie spring rolls, BBQ pork buns, pork dumplings and sesame balls. We ate everything so fast that I only remembered to take a picture of the sesame balls once we had finished everything else! It was so delicious. The service was great. We ordered the beef balls and bean sheets to go and the server told us it would be a 15 minute wait for those, which we didn't mind at all. Everything was fresh and very hot and we were so pleased about our choice. Highly recommend!

The interior had been renovated. I would recommend not seating too close to the door because each time the door opens a cold draft comes in. The menu is a basic Cantonese style dim sum. When our food arrived we were surprised. Our beef rice rolls were delicious and not over cooked. The chicken claws prepped nicely. The sticky rice was also prepped nicely. The bean curd was savory and scrumptious with a surprising crunch of water chestnuts. There are 3 bathrooms in the back, all unisex. I wanted to also mention that they have a handicap washroom as well. Not alot of restaurants have one. It's fantastic that they have one. All in all, I was generally happy with everything. Until I was presented with the bill. The lady manager/owner told me that the 20 discount before 11am doesn’t exist anymore. Oh well sometimes good things come to an end. But regardless it’s a good breakfast that day. It isn’t one of my favourite places for dim sum. But if you’re in the area it is convenient. 👍

Service was attentive and friendly, though the food was a bit hit-and-miss. The chicken glutinous rice was unfortunately TOO dry, and the steamed pork ribs had more fat than I’d prefer. However, the prawn dumplings and siu mai were both delicious and definitely worth trying!

Food is at great value and freshness. The portion is big and quality is amazing here. Definitely try the fried chives shrimp dumplings. Inside the crispy layer, juice pops out.

Takeout Restaurant
Golden Swan Restaurant is a popular dining spot on Victoria Drive, known for its diverse range of Cantonese dishes and dim sum offerings. Whether you're in the mood for a casual meal or an upscale banquet experience, this restaurant has something to offer. The establishment is renowned for its push-cart service and off-the-menu dim sum selections, making it an ideal destination for a leisurely lunch or a relaxed evening out with friends. Recent visitors have praised the generous portion sizes and attentive service provided by the staff.
Get there early enough before 10am to avoid the rush. Service was great... they still have the traditional of pushing the food cart and let you choose, I enjoyed the food, I will put this place on the list to return to
Jake W — Google review
Golden Swan is one of the few dim sum restaurants in Vancouver that still do push carts. But you can also mark down the items you want on an order sheet if you're afraid you'll miss your fav dish. This place is fairly large but also busy (visited in a Sunday at 10am). We ordered the Siu Mai ($9.85), Honeycomb Beef Tripe ($10.85), Pork and Fungus Bean Curd Wraps ($9.85), tender Chicken Feet ($9.85), Deep Fried Fresh Squid ($11.10), Eggplant with Shrimp Paste ($10.85), and Duck with Preserved Cabbage Vermicelli ($28). Portion sizes were pretty big but prices are also a bit higher. The tripe was fairly good but some pieces were colder. Liked the tender chicken feet but thought the squid wasn't the best.
Penny S — Google review
You get the classic dim sum experience here as they still have the push carts. The food itself is average level dim sum. Good food, though not spectacular or anything, but they get an extra star for having push cart dim sum which is hard to find these days. It feels like so many dishes are shrimp themed. A nice brunch and opportunity for tea, food, and a group hangout. Would recommend the honey garlic spareribs.

We visited this Chinese restaurant for lunch around 1:00 PM, and even at that late hour, the place was packed. We were excited to try the traditional dim sum cart, but since we arrived late, there were only two carts left, with limited dim sum options available. The server handed us a paper menu to order additional food. We ended up ordering just two dishes from the dim sum cart because the variety was quite limited at that point. One issue we noticed was with the dessert cart. Initially, the desserts were covered, but a customer asked the staff to open the cart so they could see the options. The server complied, and the desserts were left uncovered while the customers pointed at each dish, talking over them. This made us uncomfortable, so we decided not to order any desserts. Additionally, there seemed to be a shortage of staff. We had to wait more than 10 minutes to get the bill, and then another 10 minutes for the credit card machine to process payment. Overall, while the food we tried was good, the limited selection and hygiene concerns, along with the slow service, detracted from the experience.

Great food, very helpful and quick service, awesome dim sum vibe Came here to get to go food and the cashier/server lady immediately helped us out and just told us to get stuff from the dim sum carts. The food here is really good, I liked the bamboo leaf wrapped rice roll thing, dou hua, some meat and vinegar thing-honestly all the food is good and worth trying Although I do have to say the xiao long bao isn’t the best..but we did eat it when it wasn’t hot anymore (cuz take out) and the vinegar in there is just eh, I like the black vinegar better, and the chao su pork bao is a little too bready then I liked, (like the bread ratio was too much bread and the bread itself was too doughy/floury/not pillowy/airy) The sago pudding thing was pretty good too Would have liked to come eat in person next time, and I definitely come back again. Again, service was very nice-even gave us spicy sauce to go (though not that spicy), and quick. Wait time if we were to dine in was about 20m, we came at around 1

Generous portion, definitely need to come in with more than 4 people! The menu is no pictures so I made sure to take some of my own this time 😆 *i was happy with the 2 servers that came by our section frequently..they were calm and easy to talk to! Usually there’s a line up so come early. We found out you can book a reservation. Parking is limited.

Dinesty Dumpling House is a must-visit spot with three locations in Richmond, offering an array of delectable Chinese dishes. The restaurant is known for its dainty hand-wrapped Xiaolongbao, golden scallion pancakes, finger-sized potstickers, wontons with hot and sour sauce, and regional stir-fries. The menu also features a dedicated section for pork dishes. The open kitchen allows diners to witness the skilled preparation of soup dumplings using quality ingredients.
Amazing service and great atmosphere. It's a very warm place to get Chinese food and have extremely kind servers. The food was great- not my taste to be exact because I do think that the restaurant food itself is a bit whitewashed since the dishes tasted like a level down the authentic real thing. The spicy and sour fish for example, was not quite there with the spiciness and sourness. One level down. Overall, this was a great place to visit and I definitely recommend people who are interested in Chinese food to try this place out! By the way, the chicken here was amazing! Food: 3.5/5 Service: 5/5 Atmosphere: 4/5

Okay so, I will start off by saying this restraint is amazing!! But a word of caution, for other people know of its heavenly food. Luckily when I arrived for dinner they had opened a few minutes before, so the restaurant was empty and there were plenty of tables. However when we left there was a line out the door. The food was that good. I got dumplings and other small dishes in similar nature, and while all delicious, I 1000% recommend the original pork soup dumplings. They are the ultimate comfort food. In addition to amazing food, the waitstaff was great, and very attentive! Overall I 100% recommend, but just prepare to go early or wait in line. Enjoy!!!!

This was recommended by someone so we decided to go. Everything we ordered was so delicious - especially the unique items that we had never had before- like pan-fried soup dumplings, and bamboo tube with glutinous rice with mashed taro. Other excellent dishes we had were deep fried basa fillet with black pepper sauce, stir fried rice cake with pork chop Shanghai style, braised beef noodle soup, and the various soup dumplings. The spicy string beans with minced pork were too salty and that was the only dish we would not order again.

Dinesty on the west end of Vancouver is a great choice for any meal—breakfast, lunch, or dinner. No matter when you go, you’ll always find something delicious and reasonably priced. While they’re best known for their mini steamed buns (xiao long bao), I highly recommend trying their spring rolls! Despite being fully vegetarian, they’re incredibly crispy and flavorful. Another favorite of mine is the kelp silk appetizer—it’s vegan but perfectly balanced with a sour, tangy and salty taste that really whets the appetite. What truly sets Dinesty apart, though, is its exceptional service—remarkably professional, which is rare for a budget-friendly restaurant in Vancouver. Highly recommended!

Even though these XLBs are way more affordable, the quality is definitely not half of the more expensive ones out there 👏 The surprise 🌟 for me was the deep-fried tofu pudding - it was so good I had to order a second 🤭 The sauce it comes with is 🤌🏻, so I even used it for my dumplings ✨
Y K — Google review
Skip It. Pretty forgettable. Soup dumplings were bland, fried ones too oily, and the soy milk was sweet but thin. Not worth the hype.

I ordered the pork dumplings soup to go and it was delicious, very light and flavorful. The staff is efficient, my order was ready under 10 minutes.

Came here on a Saturday night and the food and service were both great! Amazing delicious food and fast service, would definitely recommend. The kungpao chicken is my personal favorite, the soup dumpling, Gailan beef and beef roll were amazing too. Came out to around 74 after tax before tips. Only thing was charging 5$ for 2 bowls of rice which I thought was a bit much as most restaurant that’s complimentary.

I think I read about this place and blindly decided to try. It was amazing. We had Ling cod with black bean sauce and sea food fried rice. Both were outstanding. Seafood fried rice was so amazing that we ordered another one. We would probably order more sides to go with fish.

Saturday around noon and rainy so the mall’s parking was a brutally slow go so we parked elsewhere nearby. We reserved and only needed to wait 15 minutes before being seated. The food and service was excellent. $6.00 for a pot of tee ? I think the shrimp are local and fresh. Very popular and busy restaurant. Interesting menu. I would recommend and return but at a less busy time.

My wife and I visited Fishermen Terrace after we touched down in Vancouver. Their Dimsum is consistently good compared to many years ago when we were still living Vancouver. Their seafood congee and shrimp dumpling and sticky rice were delicious. One of the best Dimsum in Vancouver, and we were glad that visited during our trip this time.

Today, I had dim sum at Fisherman's Terrace Seafood Restaurant in Richmond, including har gow, chicken buns, and garlic tiger prawns, paired with almond tea with egg white. The flavors were exceptional, making it a standout culinary experience during my Vancouver trip. What made it even better was their impeccable service—attentive and thoughtful throughout the meal. At checkout, I also ordered a takeaway portion of Thai-style boneless chicken feet. I highly recommend this restaurant to everyone!

The Jade Seafood Restaurant is a renowned Cantonese eatery known for its clever dishes using local ingredients. It offers authentic Chinese cuisine in a fine dining atmosphere and has been recognized with awards for its Slow-Cooked Angus Triple-A Short Beef Rib with Black Pepper Sauce. Located in Richmond, it's part of the vibrant culinary scene near Aberdeen, Lansdowne, and Brighouse stops.
This place mainly caters to regular customers, yet still made it into Vancouver's Top 15 Chinese Restaurants! I came to try it this time and the food was truly amazing! Highly recommended! 🌟 Traditional Claypot Salt-Baked Longgang Chicken 🌟 Their sticky rice Longgang chicken requires advance reservation, so I went for the salt-baked version instead. Longgang chicken seems to be their signature dish, and it was absolutely delicious! The salt-baked flavor really penetrates the meat, the skin is crispy and the meat is tender—even the chicken breast wasn't dry at all. It felt like all the moisture was locked in. Half a chicken was enough for five people. It came out last, but it was everyone’s favorite at the table 😍 🌟 Claypot Pearl Sticky Rice Lobster 🌟 Lobster meat was plump and springy since it’s in season. Lightly battered, fried, and then braised. I honestly think the sticky rice underneath is the best I’ve had in Vancouver 🥹 It was packed with toppings—salted egg yolk and Chinese sausage added richness. The rice was neither sticky nor hard, just perfect. The portion was huge—we packed it up and had it for two more days, haha. 🌟 Scallops Stir-Fried with Shrimp Paste and Two Kinds of Cauliflower 🌟 You could smell the shrimp paste, but the taste wasn’t overpowering. Generous portion of scallops—probably more than 20 pieces. Both the broccoli and cauliflower were crisp and fresh. This was the first dish to be finished. 🌟 Double-Boiled Soup in Individual Clay Pots 🌟 The first thing served—individual pots of double-boiled pork and cordyceps soup. Very fresh and appetizing. 🌟 Sweet and Sour Pork with Fresh Pineapple 🌟 I personally don’t like sweet and sour pork, but my dining companions thought it was tasty. 🌟 Stir-Fried Eight Treasures with Vermicelli (Vegetarian) 🌟 A huge portion with lots of ingredients—cabbage, enoki mushrooms, shiitake mushrooms, rice noodles, etc. I found it just okay. The wok hei (wok aroma) was a bit too strong for a veggie dish. 🌟 Red Bean Soup 🌟 Osmanthus Jelly One hot, one cold—both desserts were delightful. Just the right amount of sweetness. Overall, I really liked this place and I’m definitely coming back to try their dim sum!

Made reservations and came around 1:30pm for the 20% off dimsum. The staff were friendly and were able to seat us a few minutes after we came in. They have some good deals like the 6 dumplings with 3 different flavors. We tried the souffle and it was good. Light and fluffy, but with a crispy thin crust. The sliced almonds gave it an extra crunch. It's on the expensive side, but it's worth the price. The staples are also a hit. I would recommend the spicy fried tofu and the chicken feet. Come after 1:30pm to get a 20% discount.

We didn't go to this restaurant for a long time. I think they still keep their standard but the price is more reasonable than the other Chinese restaurant in Richmond. The staff are nice and helpful. All Chinese restaurants are quite quiet on weekdays. They offer some good promotion on weekdays. They give discount on dim sum and free tea in the morning and late lunch on weekdays. I think we get free tea in the lunch time too. If you are in this area, this is a good choice for you. They have a free parking lot but you may need to wait for the parking. We find 2 hours free parking in the street. If you want having family birthday dinner, this is the good choice since they can arrange different size private rooms. The place is well kept and clean with high ceilings. The size of the restaurant is good for a medium wedding banquet since the layout is good without any pillars. .

I think that this place is underrated because of its location. It's a gem in itself. We ordered a meal for two that included dumplings, congee and noodles for $42.99. With dim sum dishes normally costing as about $12 each, it's good value. The congee and noodles were quite big and I know we will be taking food home.

Absolutely delicious cantonese food, so much flavour!! The peking duck was phenomenal as always and unlike another restaurant they include the skin. The soup was delicious and unique and its interesting how they served the additional pork that was used in the soup which tasted bland on its own but a nice addition, so they took it away after i only tried one and no one else did. The chicken dick was amazing, the lettuce wrap flawless, fried rice very authentic, so much better than the yellow fried rice in america, the pineapple chicken was tasty, but the beef and eggplant could have been better because the beef was very chewy and not cooked enough; still red on the inside and the eggplant was not soft enough and i personally prefer it to be cooked longer. More spices is needed for the dish. I wish the tofu was soft tofu instead of medium because it would be easier to eat, and i wasnt a fan of the fried oysters because they had a very weird texture and the oyster itself i was struggling to find the meet as there was very little. Everything else tasted like fat. Even though not every dish exceeded my expecrations and could have been tastier the other ones made me so happy because of how good they were and made this special occasion worth it. Taste wise 4.5 stars so 5. Service had very quiet people, they just casually put your food on your table but they speak english and i saw many of the dishes being prepared and cooked in front of us on a pan which was very nice and they took extra care to give room and were professional, cleaning properly and picking up everything that fell onto the floor. Chinese service differs from american service so this quietness is exactly what i expected. Will definitely come here again.

Many special-priced items to choose from including stir-try flat rice noodles with beef and scallion, beef balls, congee. Their parking could be a challenge on a busy weekend. Update: street parking possible. Would recommend their Chiu Chou fish ball noodles. In Vancouver they might be the only place serving noodles with crunchy fried pork lard (豬油渣)which is what you usually get in Asia, making it more rustic & authentic. In addition, the Price is reasonable and portion is large. Most dim sum dishes would get a 20% discount - Please do check with the restaurant as this may be a limited time offer. One star deducted from “service” because the food may take a while to come out. Not an issue for us because we could enjoy some quiet time after a busy morning and chill out before starting to eat. Their food always look & taste fresh, and I did not detect much MSG in it. My taste buds are quite sensitive to MSG. Their waiters & waitresses are really friendly and professional. Raymond, the manager, took good care of us. Update Dec 11 2024: Ordered soufflé as our friends recommended it. It doesn’t disappoint! Very fluffy like eating cloud. The crunchy almond slices are done just before it burnt and thus very aromatic

Chef Tony Seafood Restaurant is an upscale Chinese dining option located in the stylish Empire Centre Mall. Since its opening in 2014, it has gained significant popularity and acclaim for its creative dishes and dim sum offerings. The restaurant's lavish decor, including gaudy chandeliers and purple light beams, adds to its appeal. Chef Tony has set a new standard for dim sum, prompting other establishments to elevate their offerings.
Richmond BC has many good dim sum restaurants. But Chef Tony is one of the best we tried so far. All 8 dishes were very tasty, and I applause their effort in introducing traditional dim sum dishes with fusion/modern cooking. They fuse black truffles in many of the dishes, such as in siu mai here. The lava buns are soft and flavorful. Turnip cake cubes taste better than the traditional one. Turnip pastry was so hot that it almost burned my tongue, but I like it hot. Scallop dumpling with black squid wraps are my family's favorite. We sat in lobby on a rainy Sunday with reservation. As one can imagine, there were lots of customers and a bit noisy. Three of us ordered 8 dishes and the bill came out just under $100 before tips, which is reasonable once you are accustomed to Vancouver's prices. Overall we are very satisfied and will be back for sure.

I am not sure I understand the hype about this restaurant. Food is good but the premium taste and presentation I was expecting from the reputation. Don't get me wrong that the food tastes good but I was expecting so much more from the hype so I was a little disappointed. Decor feels a little past its prime and parking is more challenging here.

We were disappointed with the food and service there. The place was recommended by a friend and we wanted to try their crabs. The 2.5 lb crab dish was not that flavorful. The beef rice noodle was dry. We liked the cucumber appetizer. The service was average. It seems the server had no patience with us. Overall the food and service do not justify the higher price there. Would go elsewhere next time.

Very busy restaurant. Arrived and got seated despite not having reservation. Service was spotty. Not sure how they were Michelin rated. Ordered a couple of dim sums. They were all good. Truffle should not be used for some of the dishes. For example, truffle on top of shou mai just does not taste good. I don't know why they make it that way. However, truffle with chicken was delicious. Lobster with glutinous rice was good as were the brisket and frog with salt and pepper. Overall, food was very good but the service and ambiance needs some work.

Ordered lobster with noodles, twice-cooked pork, fish w/ veggies, and they steamed the remaining bit of the fish from the previous dish. Lobster came at 6:25PM, and the last dish came at 7:20PM (we had to follow up with them twice). Service from the manager was alright, but service from the server was downright bad. When changing plates, he tossed my plate to me which clanged pretty hard. We asked him to follow up on the fish, and he didn't tell us a thing afterward. Ridiculous that other tables (that came way after us) were getting entire steamed fishes before we got our plate of fish bits. No cilantro on top either, just green onion. Portions were small for the price (aside from the twice-cooked pork), and dishes took so long between each other that my rice turned completely cold. Won't be returning as what we got for paying $222 was completely not worth it. I was still hungry by the end, and not a single apology for the ridiculous wait. For 3.5 dishes, it shouldn't have taken so long. At the very least, at least have the courtesy to let us know the progress of the dish.

Neptune Palace Seafood Restaurant in Vancouver is a higher-end Chinese eatery known for its delicious dim sum and rich teas. The restaurant boasts a spacious dining hall with colorful chairs and crystal chandeliers, making it perfect for big group gatherings. With an emphasis on seafood, their congee is served piping hot with a Chinese doughnut balanced on top. The restaurant offers outstanding customer service and requires reservations for dim sum times.
So glad we found this place! My family was craving for Alaskan king crab and so we came here as we saw reviews were good and in fact was a Michelin recommended restaurant too. The staff were really nice and friendly and the atmosphere was great. We got their king crab & Peking duck meal and was stuffed (couldn’t even finish everything). Honestly, it was one of the best Peking duck I had in Canada. The skin was nice and crispy and the meat was juicy and tender. The crab was so fresh and the taste was on point. Highly recommend this place for those looking for a good Chinese meal!

We had a fantastic dim sum experience about a year ago at a different location, which was helped by having a large group of 20—plenty of dishes to sample. This time, it was just the three of us, so we kept it light with six dishes. Unfortunately, the Thai-style chicken feet didn’t go over well with the family—the strong vinegar flavor and unusual texture were a far cry from the traditional braised and steamed version that’s typically tender and flavorful. That said, the rest of the dishes were enjoyable and tasted freshly made, which definitely elevated the overall quality. Prices are noticeably higher than what we’re used to in Seattle, though we haven’t tried other spots in the area yet. That said, the portion sizes here are nearly double, which helps justify the cost. Service didn’t quite match the upscale feel of the restaurant, but we didn’t encounter any issues. And even without a reservation, we were seated right away. Note on my rating scale: Sharing this for transparency, as I recognize that a 3-star review may be misinterpreted as reflecting a mediocre experience. 5 stars – Exceptional: Outstanding food, service, and/or overall experience. Truly worth going out of your way for. (For example, we frequently make the drive from San Antonio to Austin just for Uchi.) 4 stars – Very Good: Exceeds expectations in quality, service, or ambiance. 3 stars – Good: A solid experience that meets expectations. I consider any place with 3 stars or above worthy of a return visit. 2 stars – Disappointing: Falls short in food quality or service. 1 star – Poor: Not recommended.

Came during busy hours and the service was exceptional. Even though it was busy, they provided us with excellent attention, caring for our needs. We ordered the Peking duck which was phenomenal. The duck is very tender and juicy, while being very filling as they used the whole duck for 2 courses. The atmosphere is wonderful as the area was inviting and fancy. I strongly recommend the server Michael as he provided us with exceptional service and attention. The servers are very friendly and are willing to assist with your needs. Overall had an amazing experience and would recommend to any.

They may have been Michelin rated before but definitely not now. Quality has gone down hill. They don't have enough servers there. There is a manager or 2 who gives you attitude when you ask them for things. The food quality is not consistent the few times I've gone. For Peking duck, we got our lettuce wrap almost at the end of all the other dishes we ordered. I go b/c my relatives like the big tables they have there.

Excellent dimsum food, everything is fresh and delicious. Great lunch specials and easy parking downstairs, free parking in own spaces but spots can be limited. Super busy at lunch so service can be rushed and environment loud and boisterous. Reservations are recommended.

Some pretty good Chinese Restaurants in town. Recommend by many media. Location is great with skytrain access and clean and big and roomy. They do have private room as well. Know for their dim sum and had tried before so come and try their dinner as want to have some King Crab . Staff were nice and explain clearly what they have and best in season and whether we had too much or not. Not over selling. Great! Food was very good. Freshly done the crab is great and can be made into different dishes with different style. We had steam and fried crab and fried rice in the crab shell. All done perfectly and portion is big. This is around 7-8 lb crab small one for us 3 as otherwise would be big The down side is the SiuMei which is the Roasted port and the duck. Not to any standard I would expect for this resturant. May be not their best dishes or the meat has been cooked and roasted for a period of time and becomes dry and not tasty Well. Still worth to come and try as they have lots of dishes which I believe are still good Expensive due to the Crab so come with your budget. Other dishes are somewhat ok in price

Kam Wai Dim Sum 金威點心 is a renowned Chinatown spot that has been serving top-notch dim sum for over 30 years. The restaurant offers an extensive selection of fresh and frozen dim sum for take-out, making it a go-to destination for those craving authentic Chinese small plates.
Terrific food, service and value! I ordered the Lotus Wrap Rice (5.00), fried turnip cake (5.25), steamed deluxe bun (4.05) , pork bean curd roll (5.00), and pork patty with preserved vegetable rice bowl (6.68). The lotus wrap rice was very glutinous and absorbed the natural flavoring from the lotus leaves. It also had a nice savoury flavour from the pork and egg. Decent sized too. The turnip cake was freshly grilled with a crispy exterior and soft interior. It had some small pieces of Chinese sausage and maybe shrimp. The bun was very fluffy with a semi sweet dough. The meatball inside was very juicy but could've used a tad more salt. It also had an egg inside The bean curd roll was very juicy and flavourful and definitely didn't need the extra soy sauce or spicy sauce that came with it. The rice with preserved vegetable and steamed pork patty was delicious. The pork was juicy and very tasty with a slight tanginess from the vegetables. The rice absorbed the meat juices with a slight bit of soy added on top. Servers are very quick and friendly. Only two dine in tables (3 seats each) and 2 counter seats, so this is more of a takeout joint.

A hidden gem! The service was super friendly, and the shrimp dim sum (Ha How) (only $5 for 4!) tasted incredibly authentic. You absolutely must try the Dai Bao (the king of steamed buns) – it's amazing. Highly recommended!

Amazing food at an amazing value. The service was excellent! Solid vegan options for the gf. My kind of place Steamed buns were a highlight here

I have been here many times. They have very good stuffs and not good stuffs. First, I don’t recommend their ready-to-eat dim sum, except for the mushroom dumplings. The mushroom dumplings are vegan, but they are amazing! I recommended it to everyone. Second, their frozen food is mostly good (like wontons and dumplings). Also I strongly recommend the 梅菜肉饼meat patties!

The dumplings were super delicious and I especially appreciated the relatively large selection of veggie options. It’s cool to see the manufacturing in the back.

Is it your best dim sum in Metro Van? No. It's a cafe and frozen dim sum place. Is it tasty, fresh and affordable? Yes! Compared to T&T grocery store deli dim sum, Kam Wai is more generously portioned, cheaper, and fresher. The lotus leaf rice wrap ($5) had a lot of ground pork and was seasoned well. The shrimp dumplings ($5/4), pork dumplings $5/4), and fish and spinach bean curd rolls ($5/4) were all great. Service is quick and friendly too.

First time ordering from the store, delivered by Door Dash. it's now our NEW FAVOURITE! Classic, basic Dim Sum for Take-out! Good value! Generous portions. Lunch for a Senior with dental challenges, but reminiscing for home cooking & Dim Sum. The items ordered were very suitable and well received!👍 Mini Lotus Leaf Wrap Pk - 3pc (frozen, for later, not pictured) Ha Gow (Shrimp Dumpling) (4 Pieces) Pork Siu Mai (4 Pieces) Chicken and Chinese Sausage Lotus Leaf Wrap Beef Meatball (3 Pieces) Pork Congee Jumbo Deluxe Bao - Bought 2, one for later. The Bao was so LOVED by the elderly person that I am overwhelmed watching it being eaten with such enthusiasm! Everything was tasty without being overwhelmed by too much seasoning. Just right & SO tasty!

Outstanding staff and a place to simply enjoy dim sum yourself! If you’re a foodie, you’ll know this place has the most comforting and has the most traditional dim sum in town. If you enjoy the food, you can also get frozen ones to take home and have it at the comfort of your home and when you want it. I am so happy the next generations will be able to enjoy the amazing food! They also give so much back to the community which I really appreciate! 110% to recommend to everyone!

Chinese restaurant
New Town Bakery & Restaurant is a family-owned casual spot in Chinatown and Surrey, serving as both a Chinese bakery and full-service restaurant since 1980. The main location on Pender Street offers an array of Asian and Western pastries, including epic apple tarts and delectable shrimp dumplings. The bakery is known for its no-nonsense, quick service with most items on the menu priced at $5 or less.
GET THE COCONUT BUN !!! it’s sOOO good — the bread is so fluffy and soft, and it contains this sweet, shredded coconut paste that is so perfect and comforting with the warm bun. the egg wash is so satisfying, the top is brown and baked nicely, and it pulls apart so nicely. however, i do wish the coconut was spread a bit more evenly to the edges, because the center was super filled with the sweet goodness but the outside was just normal bun. both the deluxe chicken bao and pork asado bun had a steaming, thick, fresh, and filling bun, and was loaded with meat. the deluxe was super hefty, and i especially enjoyed the flavourful and juicy chunks of meat paired with the grainy, earthy egg yolk. the asado bun was sweet and super flavourful, but it had an alcohol ish taste too? not sure if that was intentional. the taro turnover was really good too — the outside was crispy and the inside was bursting with the thick, dense, and subtle-tasting taro paste which was balanced perfectly with chunks of meat. the ratio was absolutely perfect ! the pineapple bun was large and had a really good flavour, but it was microwaved before serving. this made the bottom of the bun super floppy and soggy, but it got better after it cooled off a bit. i also would’ve preferred for the butter to slOWLY melt into the bun (so it’s still a bit solid). the butter was also minimal and not evenly distributed throughout the bun. the top was super crumbly and perfectly sweet though, and the salty butter still paired well to make an indulgent dish.

I met the lady who runs this place on a trip from Seattle to Vancouver. Asked her and her husband for an authentic place in Chinatown to enjoy real Chinese food. Every dish is good, the staff are very friendly and fast to bring the food! Highly recommend for a full meal or home made Chinese pastries. Also took some treats to my friends back in Seattle. Would definitely be back for more than when I get the chance to visit Vancouver! Thank you for everything, dear Susanna.

Restaurant: Ordered beef he fen, beef brisket, stir fry rice vermicelli. All decently good, and nice portions. Got a soup with the combo and it was pretty watery, not very good. Service was slow and erratic. Cleanliness can be improved. Bakery: The baked goods were very good in terms of variety, portion and tasted.

It was our first time visiting this bakery, and we found a good selection of food and desserts to order for takeout. Firstly, the wait time was about 10 minutes before we could place our order. The line was chaotic; there was a single line, but some people cut in front of us. I'm not sure if they were part of a group that had already been waiting, but it felt quite disorganized. The customer service was fast-paced yet inconsistent. They offered a free box if you purchased fresh steamed hambao, but if you bought frozen ones, they simply pulled them out of the freezer and handed them to you without a box or another layer of bag. I had to ask and argue a bit before they agreed to give me a box. Additionally, this bakery operates on a cash-only basis, as they do not accept credit cards, which probably influences where its profits go. Some of the desserts were enjoyable, particularly the coconut buns and the pork turnover, commonly referred to as the "football." However, the egg tarts were not sweet enough, and the sesame balls could have been better. I also wish they would use yellow mung beans instead of red beans. My wife tried the #5 pork hambao, which contains a variety of ingredients and it tasted good. I returned the next day to try their barbecue duck noodle soup. It was a bit greasy, but overall, it tasted pretty good.

You need to get one thing and one thing only, the special deluxe buns. My favourite is the pork with mushrooms and egg. Get them in the morning or noon when they are at its freshest. Prices are reasonable for these big gems, but service is a hit or miss with some of these ladies serving. But other than that, I would come back again if I'm in the area. There is a cafe style restaurant in the back as well. This location has become a popular destination for tourists and gets very busy and packed.

We came specifically for the steamed buns - BBQ pork and the chicken deluxe/Bola Bola siopao. They both were delicious, but the chicken deluxe was probably the best I've ever had. You have to try these steamed buns. Highly recommended!

I always visit this bakery whenever I'm in Vancouver and specifically, Chinatown! I have been coming here for the past 10 years and the food has remained delicious all throughout, with reasonable prices. They have a large bakery selection of egg tarts, pineapple buns, and more. The service there is great and the menu offers a selection of authentic Cantonese cuisine. I always order the steamed radish cake, cheong fun, macaroni soup (great option for kids!), and congee. Those are my favourite dishes here. Like many small businesses in the area, they only accept cash or debit card. Overall, this place is perfect for anyone looking to experience authentic Hong Kong cuisine. 10/10 recommend.

Visiting from the US and randomly stopped by. The line was long but it went fast. While waiting near the door, a local Canadian woman confirmed that New Town Bakery was the BEST in town. We ordered an assortment of dim sum and BBQ pork buns. Hands down it was the best Chinese BBQ pork buns I’ve ever had even better than the ones in Chinatown in SF or LA. I recommend all foodies to visit New Town Bakery and Chinatown BBQ! Also, New Town Bakery was featured in the movie “Always Be My Maybe” with Alie Wong.

Dim sum restaurant
Empire Seafood Restaurant is an upscale dining spot in Richmond, offering a contemporary twist on Chinese cuisine with a focus on delectable seafood and an extensive selection of dim sum. The restaurant has garnered praise for its creative yet traditional dim sum offerings, such as the delicate har gow (shrimp dumplings). Visitors have commended the quick service and warm hospitality, noting that dishes are promptly served and the staff is attentive to diners' needs.
I had to drop off my car for servicing close by early so I decided to skip breakfast and find some dim sum in the morning. Empire was close by and opened at 9 so I decided to go there. I’ve heard good things about it and it’s part of the Dumpling Trail so let’s go! I was sat and immediately brought tea. I asked for some water as well and got down to business. This place didn’t have cart service that day and I don’t even know if they do at all. They do have an ordering sheet on the table with a pencil so you can order right away. Quick and easy. I ended up ordering the Siu Mai and Cheung Fun. I didn’t know how big they were so I didn’t want to order a third but if I did I would have ordered the Xiao Long Bao. I’m glad that I didn’t though. The Siu Mai were quite large! I was a little worried when I saw them as I’ve had ones that large where the filling was a lot but very little flavor. Not this time though. The filling was rough chopped so had some great bite to it and the prawn chunks were visible and easy to identify while chewing. Lots of great flavor. Really enjoyed this choice. The Cheung Fun came out next and I was really looking forward to this. The rice noodle was soft and perfectly steamed. The shrimp was whole and nicely cooked. Great bite. The sauce! Sweet and savory and oh so good. As I said, I’m glad l only ordered the 2 dishes as I was pretty full after them and I think ordering any thing would have been too much for sure. Very nice. Thank you!

I visited this restaurant with my friend for lunch a couple of months ago, and unfortunately, my experience was disappointing. The restaurant was very busy, which is expected, but the service was lacking. We waited a long time for our order to be taken, and the staff seemed inattentive throughout our meal. We repeatedly asked for chili sauce, but it was never brought to our table. We ordered several dishes, but none stood out. The steamed eggplant with shrimp paste was incredibly bland, lacking any depth of flavor. The deep-fried squid was just okay but slightly overdone, making it tougher than expected. The bean curd was overly chewy and unenjoyable, and while the Avalon dumpling was decent, the portion was far too small for the price. Overall, the food was not tasty, and the prices felt unjustifiably high for the quality and portion sizes. Overall, I was hoping for a much better dining experience given the restaurant’s popularity.

A nice place in the heart of Richmond for dim sum. This place gets busy very early, so if you don't want to wait, a reservation is highly recommended. The wait staff are all friendly. The food came out quickly and fresh. It gets a bit noisy due to the crowds. It's a very clean place. They also offer a 20% discount if food is ordered before 11:00 am. Bonus.

Great dim sum experience. It's all a la carte, but the menu has some photos. Food was generally great. Has parking (register your license plate inside) and only reservation system. We ordered: Har gow Siu mai Xiao long bao (not soupy enough and one was broken) Taro duck pastry (didn't like - duck was boring and overpowered by taro) Steamed BBQ pork buns (great!) Pan fried BBQ pork buns Gai lan with ginger sauce (good. Lots of ginger and butter) String beans, pumpkin, and eggplant (delicious but oily) Mini crab claws Tea/cover charge ($7) Sticky rice wrap with red bean (a dessert) $135 plus tip. Often I ask for a sauce for dumplings, but I found these tasty enough they didn't need it.

I didn't have a reservation for my first time visit on Saturday lunch.. I waited for 1 hour. I recommend Reservation for Weekend. Anyways Food was delicious. I thought my waiting time was deserved.

The place opens early in the morning, and overall, the food and atmosphere were great. However, the powder sprinkled on the dish in the photo didn’t have a pleasant texture. It didn’t dissolve in water and felt rough in the mouth, which I didn’t enjoy. Aside from that, all the other dishes were very good.

This place seems to always be busy. We arrived 3 min after opening and there were already 10+ tables seated for morning dimsum. Food is good and fresh. We got a discount when paying for some reason, special promo? Service was attentive. White table cloths. Bathroom was clean. Free parking in the garage but have to register your plate.

I did not like the aggressive removal of plates even when I’m not finished eating what’s on plate and forcing me to put it on new plate when I asked to keep mine and waiter would not listen or respect my wishes and said boss would get upset at them for not removing the plates. It’s also wasteful to have so many clean unused plates we didn’t need or want to use. Restaurants should respect customer’s wishes especially when eating there otherwise it’s disrespectful and stressful and makes me not want to eat there again even if food was pretty good. I rather go to a place that has good food plus good respectful service where they do not aggressively grab plates when you want to keep yours because you are not finished eating your lobster. Being Respectful of customer’s wishes and not adding stress is important in dining environment. That aspect can be improved there.

I would add more stars on the food if I could. So gooooooooooood! Services are good, food is great! It took us a while to find a restaurant since we did not have reservation. But they let us in since it’s just 3 of us. Very nice of them! We are so happy to have a nice meal on Chinese new year’s first day! 超好食,食过翻寻味

It's been quite a while since we last visited Red Star Seafood on Granville. This place is on the higher end and prices reflect that. Luckily, most of the food meets expectations. Red Star Siu Mai ($12.98 XL) was good. As was the fluffy Steamed Pork Buns ($11.68 M). The Deep Fried Taro Pastries with Duck ($12.38 L) came with a quail egg and had a creamyand savory filling with the prefect texture that contrasts with the light and airy fried taro whisps on the exterior. The Steamed Beef Balls with Tangerine Peel ($11.68 M) had big pieces of water chestnuts in it. I found the inclusion of seaweed on top of the Rice Roll with Fish Paste and Crispy Bean Curd Sheet ($15.98 SP) to be a bit distracting and totally unneeded. It would have been fine on its own. It had a delicate crisp from the bean curd and the fish paste filling was good too. We also ordered the Shredded Chicken with Jelly Fish Salad ($16.98). I found the portion size to be a bit smallish (unlike their other dishes) bit the pieces were cut too large. It was covered in a spicy sauce that had a bit of sour overtones. Not my fav version of this dish.
Penny S — Google review
First time visiting this restaurant and we were impressed with all the dishes, especially with the pre ordered crispy chicken skin stuffed with shrimp paste. The lobster over sticky rice was luxuriously outstanding too. Another pleasant surprise was the sweet and sour pork which was light without the grease nor over the top sweet. A really addictive dish. It was super busy on this Tuesday night and the service could've been a bit sharper but overall a very good dinner experience.

Our friends who live nearby suggested this place to meet up for dim sum. It was our first time but we liked how many parking spots they have. They did not have a huge menu but got enough items for dim sum. 1) The winner was the pineapple BBQ pork bun. It came with three pieces. They were relatively small but very good. It was crispy at the top but juicy inside. They even had small chunks of 🍍 in the filling. 2) Radish cake is my favourite food but they didn’t have it here. Instead they had the stir-fry version with XO sauce. It was good - standard - nothing special. 3) Salted egg deep fried fish skin was a nice surprise. My friend highly recommended us to try this. It was very crispy but not fishy at all. The salted egg gave it an extra layer of flavour. 4) Shrimp dumplings. It was very standard, nothing exceptional. 5) Rice roll with Chinese donut. It was a bit of disappointment as it was only lukewarm and the Chinese donut was hard, not chunky and chewy. 6) Beef ball. Another fairly standard item. 7) Peer shaped deep fried pork dumplings. It took them very long time to get this to us. We had to remind them after almost an hour. It was very hot inside, so be careful when you wanted to just have a big bite at once. It was quite good but nothing extraordinary. Overall, service was quite good. We sat there and chatted for a long time, and no one gave us pressure or anything. Reasonably priced as well.

-2 stars because the front desk lady during dim sum hours, Suki, is horrible. 2 times now she crossed us off even though we waited right there. The 2nd time, we asked her why our name were crossed off, she shouted at us saying she already called, table is gone. We were standing there the whole time. This time we have to specify to please call us in English, since we don't speak Chinese. Food is generally good, we like everything most of the time. But the last time we had Peking duck was about a month ago and it was barely edible, I would skip that. Service during busy time is a mess, even when they are not as busy, they still forget stuff. We ended up asking for water for about 4-5 times and only recieved it after 30 min. Hot water refilled for the tea is slow as well. Some items asked never show up. To be fair, they seems short staff for the day.

Great food. We were treated by friends. As with some Asian restaurants, they tend to bring all the dishes quickly, and they complied.

I praise the food and some great staff like Kenneth but the front desk lady is ALWAYS snobbish and rude. Probably because business is not as good as before, she starts to show fake smile for more business. However, her pretending friendly smile can’t help hide her snobbish nature - speaking really loudly about asking for high percentage of tips (more than 15%). Is that attracted to frequent customers for more business? Hope her boss can discipline her for better attitude! Other than that, this seafood restaurant still remains its long history of good reputation on food quality as well as service except the front desk lady! Waiter even voluntarily pack doggy bags for customers (now most restaurants charges bags and boxes while having customers self pack). Reminds me of the poor experience at a so called Michelin-Star Chinese seafood restaurant at Cambie St @ W Broadway which service is awful while charging Michelin-star price. Red Star’s washroom is clean, even cleaner than another Michelin-star duck restaurant @ Cambie St. Restaurant floor and table are clean without stains. Also Red-Star offers after-meal desert with cookies. Vancourites have not seen this @ most Chinese restaurants for a long time. Thank you Red Star for your good service and great food! Thanks to all staff who offer very considerate hospitality especially Kenneth for new customers. He’s flawlessly wonderful. Forgot to take photos of the order except the after-meal desert and doggy bags. Will be back again!

HK BBQ Master is a casual spot that serves Chinese BBQ and side dishes in a cozy setting, with the option for take-out. Located beneath the Real Canadian Superstore, it's known for its fragrant roast pork and honey-glazed char siu. Featured in David Chang's Netflix series, the unassuming Hong Kong-style barbecue shop has gained attention for its delicious offerings. The venue is also praised for its crispy roasted pork belly and succulent soya sauce chicken.
We loved HK B.B.Q. Master so much, we went back twice during our Vancouver holiday—that’s how good it was. Tucked under a parking structure, it might not look fancy from the outside, but once you taste the food, you'll understand the hype. The roasts are absolutely legit—classic Hong Kong–style BBQ, full of flavor and expertly done. It’s hard to choose a favorite, but if I had to rank: 1. Roast Duck – crispy skin, juicy meat, and perfectly seasoned. 2. Char Siu – sweet, savory, and melt-in-your-mouth tender. 3. Soy Chicken – beautifully poached, silky, and fragrant. 4. Deep-Fried Pork – crunchy outside, juicy inside, with a great bite. The place gets busy, and for good reason—this is one of the best Cantonese roast spots you’ll find in North America. Definitely a must-visit when in Vancouver, especially if you love Chinese comfort food done the right way.

Do not trust their opening hours! It says they are open till 8pm, but that's definitely not true. They don't prepare enough meat and they will close early. Called them at 5pm they already sold out of BBQ duck. We got to the restaurant at around 6pm and they only had BBQ pork and the crispy pork left. We had to wait for a table of 4, and while we were waiting the waitress came to tell us they're going to sell out soon. Luckily she asked for our order and reserved the meat rice plate for us so that we wouldn't have come and waited for nothing. However because she asked for our order early, they already cut the meat and assembled the rice plate before we even got our table. By the time we sat down and started eating, the meat was cold so it wasn't good anymore. On top of that, while we were still eating they started mopping the floor and getting on the counters to wipe the walls. They use lots of cleaning chemicals which is good I guess, but the whole restaurant filled with the scent of cleaner which made the food taste even worse. The running out of meat early doesn't only affect tourists, it also affects a lot of locals. While we were in the restaurant, at least 30 more people tried to come buy food, but were turned away. If you really want to come, come at lunch time so that they have everything stocked and aren't rushing to mop and clean even though their official closing time is still 2 hours away. For HK BBQ, they are on the pricey side for rice plates. You can go to the other food courts to get cheaper, similar quality HK BBQ meats.

We had heard good things about this place for long time but we had never been able to make it the last call time. Finally, we were so excited that we got to try this! We arrived a bit earlier than dinner hours around 5 pm ish. I saw a long time and rushed to join, but actually silly me, that line was for take out! We were lucky we could have a table for two right away without any wait. BBQ meats did not disappoint, as delicious as we heard and expected. We had roasted pork and chicken. Surprisingly, their daily soup was very flavourful as well. I guessed they had lots of bones to use up. It was on the slightly oily side but I did not mind about it too much. BBQ meats on rice 🍚 was the way to go for the first time, better if you have someone with share different meats with. Perhaps ordering meat on rice is not the best deal, compared with ordering meats alone, and that might explain why the takeout line is so long. Their HK coffee and milk tea mix was tasty as well. We have already come back for a few times before I finally get the chance to write this review!

This was so disappointing 😭 I have heard that Cantonese food in Vancouver is known as some of the best outside of HK (if not better). This restaurant is always listed on must-eat recommendations and it was obvious that the queue was full of locals....so why did it taste so mid??? 😭 I refuse to believe this is the benchmark...I thought this was a city of foodies! We arrived around an hour before closing. Most menu items were sold out by then, that's fine no problem. But I'm sorry, the food was absolutely not worth the hype. ❌ Roast pork crackling was not crispy enough. Meat was too dry. ❌ Char siu was too fatty and chewy. ❌ Soy sauce chicken was the best thing on the plate but not the best I've ever had. The scallion ginger oil was also overloaded on salt
Eva H — Google review
Good but not worth the hype and the wait. BBQ pork was better than the soy chicken. Sauces were good, as was the rice. Just not sure it can be said to be much better than other places in YVR.

This review is a sad one because the food here is delicious. In fact it is phenomenal. As with most reviews nowadays, price is a huge issue and this is no exception. I have been eating at this cash only joint (although I saw them pull out a debit machine for a dude the other day) since the early 2000's and have enjoyed dining in and taking out. Used to be able to get about 2.5 pounds of 3 different kinds of meat (no rice) and tons of extra sauces for under 20 bucks for a take out vibe and they even give you a piece of broccoli or two. Now, the exact same thing costs me over 75 bucks and I am not entirely certain the price breakdown. My eyes rolled back into my head, down my back and into my bum when it hit 50 bucks but now over 70? Each time I have gone in the last few years, the price has jumped. Their weighing system is a little sketchy at best...I asked for One pound of bbq pork belly and she asked if I would take 2 pounds. Maybe a half a pound more at most but double what I asked for? Nope. The thing is, is it worth it for me still because it is delicious? I don't know . Seth Rogen and Chang did this place a disservice by putting it on the map because the prices here have skyrocketed since then. I am torn. On the plus side, they give you a greasy paper bag with handle which is appreciated.

MARCH 14, 2025: HK BBQ MASTER IS MY REASON FOR EXISTENCE I AM NOTHING WITHOUT HK BBQ MASTER AHHHHHH my expectations coming were THROUGH the roof and i was so expecting to be let down but OH MY GOD somehow my expectations were EXCEEDED this is the best restaurant in canada istg and it’s almost very nearly one of the best in the world im convinced. i tried all four meats, the bbq pork, the bbq duck, the roasted pork, and the soya chicken and they were honestly all so DELECTABLE that i can’t even pick a favourite. i requested the fatty bbq pork and they definitely delivered — it was tender, so flavourful and had such a nice sweet flavour that wasn’t sickening. the roasted pork was super delicious as well, with the skin SUPER crispy and the fat SUPER fatty, and was also quite salty. honestly, even though this is the one i was looking forward to eating the most, i’d say that this is the one i’d leave out just because it didn’t taste as “cohesive” as the other meats. the soya chicken was SO juicy and not at all dry, the scallion oil on top was actually a perfect complement and it made it taste so good. the bbq duck i WAS NOT EXPECTING to be so good but omg seriously jawdropping, i feel like im just using the same descriptors but seriously those bites with the pieces of fat and skin and greasiness and mingled together, eaten with the rice was actually heaven on earth. my favourite part was ordering another bowl of rice which came PIPING hot and enjoying all the meat like that. seriously the most sensational experience. i feel like with chinese bbq, it’s very easy to get dry meat especially with the duck and chicken and charshiu, but somehow every single bite of meat was so moist and juicy and soft and flavourful, not an ounce of dryness in the entire meal. the ladies there were also super nice and friendly, and the portions were huge — there was so much meat on my plate. IN CONCLUSION (because hk bbq master deserves a conclusion) if i lived near richmond i swear i’d be here everyday, and im definitely coming back because this has been one of the highlights of my entire life. ——————————————————————— AUGUST 21, 2025: update update update ! upon returning, i have decided that my favourite is definitely the charsiu (bbq pork), specifically the fatty version. it’s so tender it literally melts in your mouth, and the sticky sweet honey coating is a perfect pairing with the hot rice.

It’s worth the hype. If you’re looking for delicious roasted meats, this place is a must-visit. The food was absolutely fantastic. Don’t forget to try the soup as a side dish as well.

Chinese restaurant
Golden Paramount Seafood Restaurant is a casual dining spot that specializes in serving dim sum, seafood, and a variety of traditional Cantonese dishes. Located in Richmond, it is part of the diverse Chinese cuisine scene in the area. The restaurant offers a mix of dishes ranging from below-average to worth-a-try options. Some highlights include M Ngor Jie Fan Gwor with pulled crab meat, mushrooms, spinach, and diced radish filling and the tasty fried oyster and tofu.
We had a family dinner there for my birthday. We ordered peking duck, salted chicken, sweet and sour pork and noodles. The salted chicken was very tasty. The fried peking duck was also very delicious. Everything tasted fantastic. The service was very good and attentive. They also cut my cake for me and served it to my family. I look forward to trying their dimsum next time.

Golden Paramount Seafood Restaurant offers decent food overall, with dim sum being the highlight of the menu. The dishes are flavorful and satisfying, though the chow mein was slightly watery during our visit. Unfortunately, the dining experience was overshadowed by the lack of hospitality. My wife traveled from another province to meet her primary school classmate, and they were hoping to spend time catching up over a meal. However, we were repeatedly advised to leave after 90 minutes, making the atmosphere feel rushed and unwelcoming. The service could use improvement, as the waitstaff were not as attentive or considerate as expected. Simple gestures, like refilling hot water, were overlooked, leaving a sense that the focus was more on quick turnover than customer satisfaction. With better service and a more welcoming attitude, this restaurant could provide a much more enjoyable experience.

Food was good, love the dumplings, pan fried taro cakes was good too. I ordered Lotus root patties because that dish is not found everywhere, it’s not bad. I had better Siu mai elsewhere Overall not bad, I just don’t understand the hype. I think even the Neptunes are better.
Justin T — Google review
Got 7- 8 dishes for around $80 which is not bad for dimsum. If you go between 11am -3pm there is a 10% off discount. Portions were a bit on the smaller side and taste was fine but nothing special. Would say this is a more affordable option for dimsum. Service was good.
Dev C — Google review
Came here for dim sum and ordered a variety of dumplings, pan fried turnip cakes, this century egg pastry dish, shrimp/beef rice rolls, pan fried noodles, pea tips, tripe, and sticky rice. Loved how each dish came out hot, and I thought most of the dishes were solid. The wrapping for the steamed shrimp dumpling were falling apart, but they were still tasty. The turnip cake was cut into small cubes, which was different than what in used to, but it was crispy and surprisingly tasty. The pan fried noodles were not the best I’ve ever had. It was missing some flavor, and the pepper was too overpowering. The century egg pastry was probs my least favorite. Notes: They accept credit card here. They also have a free parking garage, but spots are tight

Hidden gem. Used to be on Park Road in Richmond same complex as the old Happy date. One of the best sweet and sour pork I've had. Has to be one of the better Chinese restaurant in Richmond. Great service. Lots of parking available. Will return for more.

A hidden gem tucked away in an older building. We pass by this building all the time and never noticed it until a family member booked it for a gathering. Portions are a bit small but prices are reasonable compared to the fancier restaurants. They didn’t have everything on the set menu and had to substitute a several dishes. Overall, it was pretty good. The place is quite small but they do have several private rooms if you have a bigger group.
Donna S — Google review
Probably the most slept on Dim Sum place in Richmond. Admittedly, the interior leaves lots to be desired, but if you're after old-school authentic flavours and techniques, this is no brainer. Rice rolls are thin, the BBQ pork puff pastry is incredibly delicate and layered, the deep fried Bummalo is highly addictive, and it's always nice to see Cotton Chicken being served at all. Not a single bad bite.

Little Bird Dim Sum + Craft Beer is a cozy Chinese restaurant located in Kitsilano, offering an intimate setting with industrial decor. The menu features small dishes like chive & shrimp dumplings, siu mai, shrimp toasts, crispy bean curd rolls, fried garlic squid, and egg tarts. The restaurant is Michelin-recognized and known for its authentic Cantonese dim sum flavors.
My friend booked this reservation, and I’ll admit—I was this close to making a last-minute escape when I realized it was a dim sum spot (not exactly my go-to). But wow, am I glad I stayed! Every dish was packed with flavor, and we ordered up a storm. Safe to say, I’m now a believer. Bravo! 👏🏽

Amazing! Little Bird is the is the premier dim sum experience highlighting the continued awesomeness of Vancouver’s unrivaled Pan Asian food scene and is the ultimate casual lunch spot. Where Little Bird excels the most is its commitment to simple traditional dishes and making them as high quality as possible. The Steamed BBQ Pork Bun is the perfect sweet and savory combination with the most pillowy bao and I cannot recommend that enough. Otherwise, everything in their menu is worth a try. Excited to go back.

The dim sum tastes great, though the portions are small. It’s perfect for trying a variety of dishes to sample the flavors. No wonder the restaurant has consistently been awarded the Bib Gourmand. Online reservations are easy to make—definitely worth recommending.

Originally a bit skeptical but turn out it’s really nice. Simple menu compare to what i usually found in HK dim sum but each order are nicely prepared. I haven’t had nice egg tart for a while

Really good dim sum here, my party was not disappointed with any of the items. Some highlights for me were the green tea sesame balls, the soup dumplings, BBQ pork buns, vegetarian sticky rice and the crispy bean curd roll. But everything we ordered was great. they also provided an extra order of traditional sesame balls for my birthday. Service was great and the restaurant is very cozy.

The dim sum here is delicious. Each dish is served warm and juicy, accompanied by a flavorful array of condiments—black vinegar, soy sauce, chili oil, and Worcestershire sauce. The dishes arrive in a well-paced order. Table service is excellent, with attentive staff and constant water refills. A satisfying experience!

Dimsum was delicious, but it seems like a little bit of fusion or Americanize/Canadaize flavor. The portion was a bit small, so the portion versus price was another consideration.

Bao Bei is a trendy restaurant located in Chinatown that offers a unique dining experience with its modern Chinese sharing plates and creative cocktails. The dining room exudes style, providing an eclectic atmosphere for patrons to enjoy their meal. The menu features a creative twist on traditional Chinese dishes, drawing inspiration from Taiwan and Shanghai while incorporating global flavors.
A unique take on Chinese cuisine that blends authentic flavors with European influences. The dishes were bold and distinctive. Service was average, but the creative food made it worth a visit.

A YouTube video led me to this hidden gem, and I wasted no time making reservations. The restaurant's corner location offered a stunning sunset view right outside. To my delight, we were seated in the exclusive booth by the window, setting the stage for a memorable experience! Here's what we savored: -Smashed cucumbers - a refreshing delight with a zingy vinaigrette -Beet Salad - light, vibrant and tasty -Beef tartare with added smoked bone marrow - I have to say, the bone marrow didn't quite hit the mark. There was hardly any marrow, and it sadly lacked that rich, flavorful punch I was hoping for. Nevertheless, the tartare itself is worth a taste -King pea tips - fresh and flavorful -Creme brulee with salted plum cherry tomatoes - unexpectedly delicious We chose to skip the fried rice since we had a hearty lunch earlier and didn't have room for more carbs. However, I've heard it's a dish you definitely shouldn't miss. Bao Bei is a modern Chinese restaurant that features a diverse selection of quality dishes, making it a great choice for food enthusiasts. However, it's important to consider that the pricing reflects not just the culinary offerings but also the upscale ambiance. This could be an opportunity for guests to appreciate the overall dining experience while keeping an eye on value

Everything, from the unique and delicious food to the excellent service, made for a delightful evening in Vancouver for my 82-year-old parents, middle-aged me, and teenage son. Thank you so much for the loveliest meal we had the whole week!

Top notch restaurant with a small but flavorful menu. Reservations are highly recommended people waiting at the door at 5:30 open.. Restaurant has a small bar and also traditional seating. The food was outstanding. We had a variety from the crispy tofu, which was excellent, crushed cucumbers, and of course, the dumplings topped off with the Sichuan pepper chicken, which was my personal favorite.. would I go back, 100%
Robert H — Google review
Tucked away on a quiet street in Chinatown, Bao Bei doesn’t call much attention to itself from the outside. But step through the door, and you’re greeted with a warm, inviting space that feels like a blend of farmhouse charm and modern bistro. Upside-down parasols hang overhead, tufted leather banquettes line the walls, and soft industrial lighting sets a relaxed, comfortable tone. The Food The menu is made for sharing, which works well here. We tried several dishes, and most hit the mark. The cucumber salad was crisp, tangy, and refreshing—an easy start to the meal. The steak tartare had clean, fresh flavors and was nicely balanced. The “Kick Ass” fried rice was solid, not overdone, and satisfying. A standout was the stir-fried greens with house-made bacon. The bacon had incredible depth—smoky, savory, and full of flavor. It brought a lot to an otherwise simple dish. For dessert, we ordered a fried bread/donut-style dish (name escaped us), but it was excellent. Light, golden, and paired with a dipping sauce that really tied it together. The Atmosphere & Service The vibe inside is intimate and comfortable. Service was friendly and relaxed, and the pacing of the meal was smooth—never rushed, but never dragging

Bao Bei gave off cozy & intimate vibes with casual setting, friendly staff that gave us solid recommendations. ✨ We had: • Crispy tofu: the sauce was everything. • Glazed crispy eggplant: good, but honestly even better when dipped in the tofu sauce hehe. • Kick Ass House Fried Rice: amazingly flavourful (a little salty for me, though). • Beef tartare • Flat iron steak • Crème brûlée Overall, it was a dinner well spent. Would definitely come back.

Dumplings are to die for. Fried rice was really good as well. Lounge was a bit loud and the table/seat no very comfy. Staff was attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. One choice of dumplings, fried rice, a little sweet treat and two (little) glasses of wine and you’re easily over $100… and this was for one person.

Peaceful Restaurant is a cozy spot that offers both dim sum and an all-day menu of northern Chinese dishes. The restaurant's ambiance is bustling, with the sounds of chatter and kitchen activity creating a welcoming atmosphere. The wide windows provide a glimpse into the busy kitchen, reminiscent of charming hole-in-the-wall eateries. Customers often find themselves ordering familiar favorites like beef rolls, northern pork dumplings, spicy cilantro salad, and Sichuan meat salad - dishes that evoke childhood memories.
This place needs a higher rating I think. Very very solid tofu and noodles soup (see pictures- full of such nice vegetables, including delicious mushrooms!) that I come back for again and again. Also really nice soup dumplings. I personally like the service too, they never rush you and always bring tea. It’s good value for money and I’ve never been disappointed. Regular haunt in Vancouver.

we started with beef rolls , was balanced in both chives and hoisin sauce. the main dishes were delicious, although it was a bit too oily, the portions were large. It was very filling and super tasty, I really loved the spicy garlic prawn. I will come again.

I heard alot of good experiences from friends and families, even strangers about peaceful restaurant. I've even heard it was on the food network channel as well. Upon entering we are greeted very quickly, and even though it was busy and full they acknowledged how long the wait will be. Luckily I didn't have to wait too long. Tables and chairs very clean and menus are impressive. They do in house noodles, a northern chinese style. I love how these northern type chinese places have a see thru window so you can watch them make so many types of noodles. It's not as easy as it looks, it's alot of labor. On the menu I ordered the cold appy to start, the chicken and clear noodle. Wow... That was very nice. Light, refreshing, not heavy, not salty. Then the classic Dan Dan noodles with spicy peanut sauce, your choice of thin or thick noodles. I prefer the thin but I chose the thick because my friend likes the thick noodle. It's a very rich so I suggest sharing. It's delicious. Remember guys the sauce is underneath sometimes 🤣. Roll your noodles around and man... It looks amazing! Then the spicy and tangy dumplings, also made in-house. Whoa jelly nelly! It's got kick! The dumplings are juicy, the texture of the dumpling skin is lovely. The broth tangy and spicy. My first experience and its real nice. It also cleared up my allergies 😂 Service is prompt on that night. Food delicious. Atmosphere very comforting. Would I come back again? YES! I saw the beef roll and I wanted to order that award winning dish, unfortunately I was too full... Above all prices are very reasonable. I would recommend this place for noodles no doubt. I can't wait to try the beef roll cause the booth next to us ordered it, and I heard a nice crunch from the lady who was eating 🤤

Peaceful Restaurant serves food from Northern China, they have been featured on several newspapers, magazines and the food network show diners, drive ins, and dives. They have many different items on their menu, and there is some spice added to several of their dishes. If you want to try another part of Chinese cuisine I would give them a try.

Great food for takeout. Love the tofu dishes and the rice is plentiful and cheap. The veggies are excellent too. I would not sit here to eat as its kinda not a pleasant place unless you're into really casual but for takeout it does not disappoint! I recommend. Delivery is fast, food is always piping hot and tasty. Not the cheapest, but not expensive. Rice is good value.

Kirin Seafood Restaurant in Richmond is a celebrated spot for classic Chinese cuisine and inventive daily dim sum. Located in Alberni St. downtown, this restaurant has been a staple for over 30 years and offers a polished dining room experience. While it may resemble a hotel lobby, Kirin is renowned as one of the best dim sum restaurants in the city.
Service can be improved with more patient and less direct servers, but food wise, everything was delicious. Make sure that if you’re going on the weekend, to get a reservation beforehand, otherwise you’d have to wait for a while to get a seat. We ordered 5 dim sum dishes and a fried rice to share among 4 females and spent around $90+. All seating were at round tables with actual tablecloths. The menu is extensive but some usual favourites like the xiaolongbao is not available. The special fried rice was really good as they had a thick sauce on top that really complimented the rice. Another favourite was this tofu skin shrimp combo that was filled with tasty goodness. Everything had tons of flavour. Parking is at the mall and is free. If you park in the tower, you can check in to allow for free parking while dining at the restaurant.

Arrived for a 11AM Dim Sum with a party of 4 on a weekday. Ordering is done through the server and the dish arrives relatively fast. The space is very spacious and has plenty of tables. It can get lively over the course of the day. They do also sell their own frozen products at the front. Dishes were tasty and the Deep Fried Squid had a bit of a kick to it. The restaurant is a bit of a walk as it is on the 3rd floor of a parking lot which was a bit of a surprise and detached from the mall next to it.

The food is very good. The Fried squid and Siu Mai are very tasty. But the rice roll is very normal. Anyway this is the best of Dim Sun restaurant in our list. Hope to improve the service. We tried to ask for bill. But no one response us. It seems their eyes escaping from our table.

Unable to get us a table without reservation on Sunday night. We came back next day. Ordered the steamed grouper — super tender, though the soy sauce was a bit on the salty side. The stir-fried water spinach with garlic and chili slivers was absolutely delicious; the thin strips of chili added the perfect finishing touch. The bitter melon with beef was just okay.

Made reservations a month in advance to make sure I was able to get a spot. Showed up at 10am and was seated fairly instantly. This is hands down the best dim sum I've ever had in my life. Take into consideration that I live near san gabriel valley, CA and grew up in San Francisco. It's fairly priced when comparing to USD, but if you're talking straight CAD, it's quite pricey per dish. The taste is well worth it.

A group of six of us from Singapore had dinner here last night. Overall, we had mixed feelings about the service. Unfortunately, our first impression was spoiled by one of the two female staff stationed at the entrance, who was extremely rude. When we tried to browse the set menu at the main counter, she repeatedly shooed us away to the side table and even addressed us with “hey, hey, hey, shi, shi, shi,” which we found very disrespectful. That said, the dining hall staff were the complete opposite—friendly, polite, and attentive. A special thanks to waitress Winnie and her two male colleagues (whose names we didn’t get), who made us feel welcome and well taken care of. As for the food, every dish we ordered was tasty, though most were a little too salty for our liking. Prices were reasonable and affordable, making it good value overall.

i had high expectations cuz last time i came here almost EVERYTHING was perfect... but this time, almost EVERYTHING was MID. we started off with conch soup which had great flavour but lowkey tasted like water cuz its too diluted 3.4/5 then we got the best thing outta today: their baby pig. it had a light and crunchy exterior with a lightly seasoned interior basking in five spice powder. eating it by itself is as addictive as eating chips, but the steamed bread accompanying it was mid. 4/5 then it goes downhill from here 😍😍😍 we got their oxtail bowl which was as tough as a rubber tire, and lacked seasoning but did NOT lack in sugar cuz its on the sweeter side 1.5/5 their lobster was very sweet and fresh, and it also had lots of flavour (soy sauce) BUT THEY ADDED TOO MUCH SUGAR IS THIS A DESSERT OR WAHT 2.5/5 their soy sauce fish bowl?? tasted bland like food court food 1/5 their 粉丝/ glass noodles just tasted like scalops and garlic but ig its edible 2.5/5 their celery veggie dish tasted unmemorable 1.5/5 their veggie dish with mushrooms tasted so bland i cant even tell what was in it 0.5/5 next off is their live cod with yam and squash which tasted like nothing as well 1/5 their roasted chicken tasted bland but uh at least its crispy!!! 1/5 their fish maw was fishy and not cooked for long enough but at least the sauce was half decent 1/5 and if u want rice, then their "glutinous rice" which did NOT taste glutinous at all- was just a wet mound of rice coloured with soy sauce containing a predominant flav of just chiense sausage 2.5/5 the only noodle soup they served today with the dumplings tasted like old oily noodles soaked in msg water... however the dumpling was flavourful and abundant in shrimp 1/5 for dessert, their peach shaped buns were filled with a morbidly sweet lotus paste which was only edible after dipped in extremely concentrated tea 0.5/5 next off is their glutinous sesame dumplings submerged in dilluted almond milk was a little too sweet and just tasted like the frozen ones u can buy at an asian supermarket 2.5/5 and last off their steamed cake tasted bland... its supposed to taste like brown sugar but all i taste is a hint of ginger??? 1.5/5 btw if u bring a homemade cake they wont let u eat it cuz their scared ull sue them for food poisoning so only bring store brought cakes or else!!! overall 2/5

I had a wonderful experience at Chinatown Floata Seafood Restaurant. The food was much better than I expected – fresh, flavorful, and well-prepared. The service was also attentive and friendly. I came here for the first time to a fairly large group event. This is only a rating for the dinner. Food: 4/5 - food was tasty overall. The soup was bland. The foods served could be hotter but it is unlikely when you have 500 hungry people. It was a 10 course meal with tables of 10. It was a bit on the cramped side. Service: 3/5 - probably couldn’t get the number of help required. The staff left empty clean plates for you to replace yourselves. We had to ask them several times to refill the teapots. Staff was nice enough to give us empty food containers to put leftovers in. Atmosphere: 4/5 - great venue for large events but was a bit cosy on the seating with tables of 10 people. There’s a stage with three big screens to watch the stage. You could not talk comfortably with all the background noise. Parking: 5/5 there’s complimentary parking on level P3 but you must register your car plates at the lobby entrance of the restaurant. It’s probably the only Asian restaurant in BC that’s big enough to hold a large group. A great venue in terms of size for special events. There’s a performing stage along with a podium for speeches.

Compared to other restaurants for Chinese banquet dinners, Floata falls short. Keep in mind, that this banquet was for 70 tables of 10. The food was consistently cold and the service, lacking. Typically, servers will provide clean plates, and remove the dirty, throughout the dinner. However, in this case, no clean plates were provided and we were lucky if they took away the dirty - even the main dishes. At times, servers would simply put the new plate of food on top of the old, and we would move it. I imagine the lack of clean plates may be because they may not have so many available? But that does not account for putting the new dishes on top of the old.

Always a good place for dim sum with a group! Spacious restaurant. Our group ordered a variety of dishes, including two types of rice rolls, chicken feet, tendon, scallop dumplings, bean curd, spareribs, deep fried dumplings, and eggplant & shrimp paste. We thought the portions were a decent size, and the items were tasty (and not overly salty or greasy). I don't eat dim sum often, so dim sum is always welcome! Someone in my group paid, so I'm not sure about how the pricing compares to other dim sum restaurants. However, we all agreed we'd return here!

Continental Seafood Restaurant is a spacious Chinese eatery located in a strip mall, known for its traditional dim sum served from push carts. While weekends and holidays tend to be busy with long wait times even with reservations, the restaurant impresses first-time visitors with its fresh food, quick and polite service, and ample space for socially distanced dining. The traditional cart-style service is a highlight, offering warm and fresh dim sum options that are hard to come by elsewhere.
We had such a fantastic dining experience at Continental Seafood Restaurant! We ate so much and absolutely loved every dish. The dim sum was fresh and delicious, and the carts were always nearby, making it easy to try everything we wanted. These shrimp balls are as big as my fist and def our fave! Service was flawless, super attentive and friendly. You can really tell that customer service is a top priority here. The pricing is also very reasonable for the quality and variety of food you get. The restaurant is spacious, which makes it perfect for larger groups, and there’s plenty of room for the dim sum carts to move around smoothly. Highly recommend this place for anyone craving great dim sum in a comfortable, welcoming setting!

Pretty good brunch option to go Dim Sum in Richmond. Although parking spots have 1H or 2H slots for free, parking sometimes may take a while. Food taste is pretty good for an average dim sum experience with price points acceptable moving the rating to 4. Service cart moves around all the time so you will constantly get more food should you choose to order more. For an Asian establishment, the service you expect is standard and a solid 4. The atmosphere was good and lively in the dining area, but washrooms could be better maintained. All in all, 4 stars is the rating I would give and recommend for others to bring more people to improve the experience.

After coming here for over 15 years and eating a lot of Dim Sum in a lot of restaurants around the world this place is still in my top 3. The food is always fantastic and they have a large selection of dumplings as well as other dishes. We're moving to the UK in a week and I had to eat here one more time but it will be one of my first stops when I visit.

Visited June 2025. We came for dim sum. We conquered! Found this place on someone's travel blog, so decided to give it a try. The place is huge, like they do weddings here. Had a dance floor and everything. Their service is top notch. They did not have the cart when we visited but had a paper where you can order what you want. We ordered a bunch of dumplings and the chicken feet. The locals were amazed we were eating chicken feet and stopped by to tell us it was their favorite dish. Food was great, bellies were stuffed and overall had a great experience.

Please be aware, I went on a weekday, so the experience will definitely be different on a weekend. No line up. Food was awesome. Service was impeccable. You could hardly take 2 sips of water without it being refilled. Every request was fulfilled without fail and promptly. The service was crazy good. I don’t think I’ve ever had this level of service anywhere before. We ordered a lot of food in a very very short time period. All the classics were ordered, har how, siu mai, etc….nothing fancy or innovative but regular dim sum favourites. I’m not a fan of messing with the classics. My 2 favourites were without a doubt, the bean curd rolls and the fresh tofu dessert. I could have just eaten duplicates of those and been super satisfied.

Dim Sum was wonderful. Lots of variety. Wasn't very busy, but we were there mid-afternoon, so that made sense. Food came out quickly. Service was good, very mindful. Place was huge, would be great for large groups, functions like weddings or office parties.

The number of authentic Chinese food where I live in the states is a rather sad amount, hence why we drive for a while to a whole different country for some hella authentic food. Been going here for many years, quality has never changed; definitely the go-to spot for Dim Sum. Sure, there might be runner-ups, but their vibes just aren't the same. Atmosphere: see, what I mean by vibes are the carts that wheel the Dim Sum by, the long wait lines (you got people lining up even at three or four o'clock), and the owner somehow managing to bid a customer goodbye, take an order, and holler out a name for the next person up in line to come on up. Service: ooh, might I also mention, best to call in and reserve a spot ahead of time. That might cut down your wait time from half to one hour to the five to fifteen minutes I usually have to wait. Since it's so busy, do expect a slight delay in service if you want to order something specific or get your tea refilled. It's alright, it's understandable. Oh, also, they do take extra requests! For example, my family and I don't like stuff too heavy on salt or oil, so we asked if we could get the fried beef noodles (干炒牛河粉) with less salt and oil, it did come waaay lighter. Thanks! Food: now... if I were to write down every single food and my corresponding rating, I might hit the review character limit... just trust me on this! You can't go wrong with anything, so whether you're looking for an authentic vibe and experience or you have zero idea what to try, you really can't go wrong! Everything's amazing. There's a reason there are thousands of reviews of this place, and I know many restaurants that have hiked up prices or lowered their quality after getting a bit more popular. In my experience, the food quality has pretty much stayed the same. Commendable! Is it worth driving over three hours just to here? Yup, it is.

I was invited by a my guy friends along with their kids to eat here. The place is huge and is known to also do wedding events. This is also one of few dim sum places left that would do push cart dim sum as well. The service is not the best, perhaps because the restaurant is so big. However, I would say our dim sum is decent and standard. It's a pass but nothing special.

Really good Shanghainese Cuisine at Lin Chinese Cuisine on Broadway in Vancouver. This place has been here forever and is a bit of a hidden gem. The XLBs were amazing 👌. Great prices and portions too! @linchinesecuisine @thefoodiecarguy

I keep hearing good things about lin's on West Broadway. I finally decided to give it a try one afternoon. Luckily it wasn't busy, I got seated right away. I ordered the soup dumplings, but longs noodle house is still the best in the city. None the less, still delicious. The beef roll was done nicely, not heavy or greasy. Then the beef Shanghai meat ball. This is definitely a dish to be shared, it's huge. I can't imagine eating this all alone without having the meat sweats LOL. Overall, service was on the slow side, but not rude. Prices are fair for the area as well.

The menu is really ambiguous they don’t mention proper ingredients. I have egg allergy and they put eggs in chicken fried rice. I didn’t noticed while eating and when i saw eggs i had vomit all food to avoid allergic reaction, still i got a reaction and had a severe pain because of that. And one top of that the lady possibly owner is really judgy

I’ve visited this place more than five times and tried a variety of dishes. While the service has always been fine, the food consistently disappoints. Most of the items are deep-fried, overly oily, and lack flavor. Unfortunately, it's not authentic Chinese food.

My boyfriend and I have been regular customers for over 2 years, and we usually order the Tokyo Pork Tenderloin during lunch service when dining in. In the past, different servers have always taken our order without any issues, and it has always been available at the lunch special price. What makes it confusing is that the dish does not appear on the physical menu, but it is listed on the digital menu with the lunch prices. Today, however, we were told by the waiter that it was only available for takeout. Since we were really hungry, we ordered it to go, but it was disappointing not to be able to enjoy it inside the restaurant—we ended up eating in our car on a hot, sunny day. It feels inconsistent that the dish can sometimes be served for dine-in and other times only for takeout, especially when it is clearly prepared the same way. I hope the restaurant reconsiders this policy, as the Tokyo Pork Tenderloin is one of our favorite dishes, fairly priced at lunch, and a big reason why we come here.

My room mate has a gluten allergy and we found this place online and it is now our go to place. They can make pretty much everything gluten free and they are so helpful and considerate about noting the allergy. The food is sooo delicious, some of the best Chinese in the city, gluten free or not! Everyone that I have encountered while ordering or getting delivery has been so lovely, can’t say enough good things!
Micaelan C — Google review
I've been here many, many times. I like the food, the lunch special prices are great, but the service is awful. The worst service in the city. I've experienced every kind of bad service... From no one taking my order, to my order being forgotten, to getting the wrong order. Today I was waiting to pay, stood there waiting while 4 workers ignored me. One was playing on her phone. Two others walked by me twice. Eventually I just pulled some cash out of my wallet and paid. Previously I'd just shrug my shoulders and come back anyways... But everyone has their limits. There are too many other choices for lunch that would actually value their customers.

Golden Ocean Seafood Restaurant is a spacious Cantonese eatery that comes alive during weekend dim sum hours. The restaurant offers a delectable array of dim sum treasures, including har gow, deep-fried taro puffs, and shumai. It's advisable to arrive early to secure a table without waiting in line as the place tends to get crowded with eager dim sum enthusiasts.
First time visiting Golden Ocean Seafood restaurant. Came here for my mothers 80th birthday. From the outside, plain appeal. Go up the stairs and through the door and restaurant looks very appealing, bright and lively. We enjoyed the decor. Service was excellent, staff was very friendly and accommodating. Dim Sum was busy so having a reservation helps a lot. All the food we ordered was great and very tasty. Eggplant shrimp was different and excellent! Traditional chicken feet dish was also excellent and had a different taste than what youll find if you ordered this at other restaurants. Would differently come here again.

I visited Golden Ocean in a Sat morning just when they started the day of business. Food is average for vegetarian dishes, maybe it's too early for the day. Rice rolls are nice. Overall, a good dining experience.

Golden Seafood absolutely deserves a 5 out of 5! This restaurant is truly the ultimate spot for a dim sum party experience—once you sit down, the dim sum just keeps coming out, and it feels endless in the best way possible. From the very first bite, you can taste the authenticity of their menu. The flavors are rich, fresh, and exactly what you’d expect from a place that takes pride in real Asian culinary traditions. Only those familiar with authentic dim sum know which ones are truly worth it, and Golden Seafood nails it across the board. The service was just as impressive—fast, organized, and attentive without being overbearing. The staff made sure everything flowed smoothly, so we could simply enjoy the food and the moment. What I love most is that every dish that came to the table was tempting—you’ll seriously want to try everything on the menu because the quality is consistent all throughout. If you’re craving a genuine dim sum feast with outstanding flavors, efficient service, and a fun, lively atmosphere, Golden Seafood is the place to go. I can’t wait to come back again soon!

Its one of a typical dim sum place. Generally good foods. The service was not very attentive, they shouls label the teapot, what type of tea they have. And servers come with plates of foods asking if you want, but it was too excessive, ie very 10sec, server come and asking... I was looking forward to the pork feet with ginger in red vinegar and the meat wasnt as tender as I wished... I would recommend the beef tendon, which was much bigger portion than other dim sum places. (Sorry, I quickly finished that dish without taking the photo.) Also thr chicken noodle was good too. Not recomending the halibut, $38 for 2 pieces of pan fried fish wasnt a good value... Theu charge tea for kids over 5.

Long standing Cantonese restaurant in Kerrisdale! Solid lunch and dinner with some unique offerings. Started to look a bit dated but done some recent updates. Spacious and comfortable seatings.

Seem like this place has been recently renovated to include upgraded brand new chairs all around as well as enhanced lighting. The big round tables the carpet the decor otherwise they’re all very traditional Chinese dim sum type restaurant and fact this is where the place shines. Dim sum on the weekend is exceedingly popular. They still have people bringing trays of food around as well as carts, which is a very traditional way to do dim sum and a great experience if you’ve never had it before. You really get to see the food as they show it to you if you even if you don’t know the name of it in English or Chinese. Food is always fresh. The taste are authentic. We’ve been coming here for over 20 years and will probably come for 20 more.

Buyer beware: they charge you $4.50 PER HEAD for tea. Food was ok. Service was not great. They roll around carts for dim sum, which is nice because you can see what you're getting. Go before 11 on the weekend and it won't be so crowded. Overall, I probably won't come back cuz the tea was expensive for what you get.

Sea Harbour Restaurant is an elegant Chinese eatery in Richmond known for its classic dim sum, seafood, and banquet menus. The upscale dining room has received numerous accolades for its creative Hong Kong-style cuisine, featuring dishes like pan-fried prawns with soy, fried squab, and braised chayote squash with pork. The restaurant also offers a winning dish called deep-fried pumpkin sticks with egg yolk sauce at dim sum.
Seating is very comfortable. The decor is very luxurious. All the food we ordered is well done, portion size is reasonable, dessert also tasted very balanced. I would love to host my wedding there.

Our clients treated our team out for dim sum here at Sea Harbour Restaurant. My first time here. Quality is up there with the other dim sum restaurants that i like. Very busy today on a Friday lunchtime. Glad table of 8 was booked ahead of time. Food was well presented, tasty and fresh. I didnt pay so couldnt see if the price was good compared to the value.

Bougie, upscale dim sum restaurant. Each dish runs about $15 each but you also get what you pay for. Food: one of the best dim sum places I’ve had. Food was fresh, well presented, delicious, authentic and high quality. We really enjoyed all the dishes we tried. Everything was very nicely presented. Service: better than most dim sum restaurants, but didn’t stand out. Lived to up expectation. Atmosphere: nice upscale restaurant, complete with fine linen and fancy chopstick holder and extra set of chopsticks etc… spacious, lots of natural light. Value: price-wise it’s definitely a treat. The most expensive dim sum I’ve ever had, 6-7 dishes came to about $100 for 3 adults and a toddler. Was it worth it? Yes. Can I afford to become a regular? No. Would I like to be? Also yes.

The best dim sum spot and go-to place for delicious Cantonese-style Chinese cuisine - very sharp and attentive service, and the dishes are consistently good. Definitely make a reservation. So worth it! Faves: 1. sweet and sour spare ribs, 2. pan fried scallops with lily and black fungus 3. deep fried chicken with black truffle sauces (half/whole)

This original sea harbour location was located on number 3 road across from yaohan. Sea harbour is known for luxurious Chinese fine dining. They had also won awards and their culinary team is very elite. I decided to have dimsum here when their doors open. The dining room is extremely luxurious and eye popping. Service here is absolutely amazing. I loved their menu because they have items that alot of other traditional dim sum places don't offer. I really enjoyed their sticky wild rice wrap. The texture is lovely and fragrant. The scallop soup dumplings were so supple and savoury. The stuffing inside the fried taro dumplings was also very delicious.

Food was great, but I feel for the servers working there. It's incredibly loud inside and they should be wearing hearing protection, hence our service requests were mostly unheeded. Our conversation almost became a shouting match, and my ears were still ringing after getting home. I will go elsewhere next time. The great food is not worth my sanity. Quiet and elegant place it is not.
Ky S — Google review
A typical Chinese restaurant, but with some surprisingly unique and innovative flavor twists. One standout was the lobster dish, which features a wasabi-based sauce, definitely a must-try if you're a wasabi fan. Other than that, they have the regular dishes you can find at other restaurants e.g peking duck etc.

never disappointed by the food here, it’s really amazing! flavour is spot on and it really is the authentic and unique dim sum spot in richmond. although a bit pricey for each dish, it was delicious! guy who brought us in was also very nice and our severs were nice too. however when we were tipping, attitude seemed to change... seems like they demand a “minimum” tip

Grand Dynasty Seafood Restaurant is an upscale Chinese eatery located near the Grand Villa Casino. It offers a wide range of authentic Chinese cuisine, including daily made-to-order dim sum and elevated seafood dishes. The restaurant is known for its polished ambiance and friendly service, making it a popular choice for family gatherings or company outings.
I have been here for dimsum many times with family and colleagues and we were always very pleased with their foods and service. Tonight we came here for dinner for the first time for a special celebration and they didn't disappoint. First, they ensured very good physical distancing between customers at different tables. Very friendly, attentive and professional service throughout our dinner. We had six dishes and all of them either met our expectations (crisp fried stuffed duck, crab meat with pea tips, abalone & chicken in casserole) or exceeded them (scallop and beef tenderloin with king oyster mushrooms, beef tendon and brisket with Japanese pumpkin in casserole, and black truffle seafood fried rice). The portions were also very good. We will return and try other special/new dishes. Thank you for a great evening!

This restaurant has become the new family dim sum and dinner spot because my niece is in love with their cat robot ❤️ the service has also been amazing and they’re super sweet. Even when they don’t need to use the cat robot they would bc they know my niece loves seeing it move around. The food is also pretty good too. I find their braised duck with taro hot pot to be amazing. Super flavour and left overs reheat so we’ll. First time I’ve enjoyed a braised meat dish this much. They have some set dinner specials which are great value too with Peking duck or lobster. We usually pick one of the set menus and add one or two more dishes and there’s plenty of left overs us.

Have to wait if no reservation on Sat. The dim sum and service was pretty good. The deco was nice and the seating was comfortable. Unfortunately the washroom was very unappealing, floor was sticky, broom and cleaning products were everywhere. This time came here for mother's day lunch. Lobster with noodle was not bad. The BBQ duck was quite tasty and meaty. Except the fish rice roll was cold, and the deep fried squid was not crispy. The black sesame ball dessert was pretty good. Washroom is still u appealing.

The interior looks great and there’s lots of seats if you arrive early. It gets a little busy after 10:30am in the weekend. Some of the dishes would only be available to order after 10:30am. Dim sums taste good and they have some variety than other restaurants in Burnaby area. I would recommend having dim sum in this place if you live nearby.

First time here with friends. Around 11:30am the parking lot was full so we had to park across the street at the casino parking lot. Food was fresh and tasted good. The use a cute robot to deliver food to the table. My favourite dish was the fried duck, the skin was crispy but the meat was tender and juicy. Durian ball was also good and you have to watch out the hot running filling might burn your lips😅 The Thai style pork feet was a nice try but I think the flavour didn’t blend in with the meat. The space between the tables are maintained with reasonable distance. The only thing I’m not used to was everybody talking so loud, therefore we could hardly hear each other.

Grand Dynasty is a great dim sum spot that offers excellent food for a fair price. The place was packed on a non-holiday Wednesday morning. Each of the dishes we had tasted great. The fried eggplant was particularly memorable with its slightly spicy taste and unique texture with borderline crunchy exterior and soft interior. Even though the place was packed, the service was attentive and friendly. From the restaurant, you can walk directly to the casino beside it, making this place a great choice for lunch or dinner if you plan on visiting the casino in Burnaby. To avoid having to wait for a table, you can make a reservation by calling in beforehand.
Alfonso C — Google review
Grand Dynasty has seen better days. In years past their food quality and service was remarkable and a star Chinese restaurant in Burnaby. This would have been a recommended Dim Sum restaurant for friends and family. However, my visit today was, sadly, disappointing. Their friend rice rolls were soft and soggy which clearly indicated that the chef mixed the wrong ratio of water to ground rice powder. This is a rookie mistake and should not be happening here. Several other dishes tasted bland compared to other visits in past years. Service was decent but nothing to write home about. In my opinion, Grand Dynasty needs to step up their game if they intend to upkeep the name they have built for themselves in the past before it is tarnished beyond repair. Three stars all around for "just ok".
Gabriel F — Google review
Update 2021: This is the go-to preferred restaurant for my family. Throughout the pandemic the food, service, convenience and parking (free at the casino with EV charging stations) is unmatched. I will be posting more photos soon, but the abalone, goose webs, Peking duck, vegetables, soups, fried rice, noodles, EVERYTHING gets my taste buds sprung and my eyes popped on a weekly or semi weekly basis. Recommended dishes: all of them. Fish maw soup, pork lung soup, fried chicken with glutinous rice, fried duck with taro, cauliflower with assorted preserved meats, dried scallops on pea shoots, deep fried crab claws, fried ling cod, lobster, sweet lotus seed buns... And on and on. Thank you so much to the chefs, all staff and management at the Grand Dynasty Seafood Restaurant! =============================== I wrote a review and didn't realize it was in draft mode only. Today I brought a friend to have dimsum here and am so glad I did. Egg tarts very eggy with the puff pastry crust. Fried duck taro so rich, egg custard bun flowing with salted egg custard and the prawn dumpling was delicate and fresh. She had the supreme dumplings in soup. Well done Grand Dynasty!

Shanghai Lu Restaurant is a popular Chinese eatery known for its dim sum and classic Cantonese dishes, set in a relaxed, old-school atmosphere. Patrons have praised the restaurant for its reasonable prices and generous portions, with some highlighting specific menu items like the 3-course BBQ duck and king crab set menu. While many have raved about the delicious food and attentive service, others have expressed concerns about inconsistent service quality.
You know it’s an authentic chinese restaurant when it smells like one. 😂 I came here with my family to meet an old friend in Vancouver, and this place was recommended by the locals. Personally, I don’t understand why this place has such low reviews. Prices may be a little steep, but I guarantee you if you’re finding authentic chinese flavours and taste, drop by. We ordered Lobsters, Roasted Chicken, Crispy Peking Duck with Wrap, Cod Fish, Stir Fry Vege with Beef, Stir Fry Kailan, Silverfish Fried Rice and some soup (can’t remember). All these dishes come part as a set, and we all had a great time at Shanghai Lu. The waiters here are also super friendly and thoughtful, I would definitely drop by this place the next time when I’m in Vancouver. There is also free parking located at the hotel directly beside the entrance of this restaurant. Take the ramp up after the drop-off point at the hotel lobby, and proceed all the way up until you see the lots allocated for Shanghai Lu customers. Just let the waiters know you parked your car there.

I didn’t do any homework just walked in because it’s lunch time, their dim sum is below average level in Great Vancouver. Every dish is a bit disappointed. I won’t revisit. Definitely don’t recommend.

My wife and I ordered bulk takeout, spent almost 300 dollars. 4 dumplings for 11 dollars is ridiculous. The amount in the picture is all we received, and the food was bland and did not taste fresh.

We tried this place for dim sum at about 11:00 a.m. It was only about 5% full at the time. The first thing we noticed was how filthy the carpets were. It was obvious that they hadn’t been vacuumed in weeks and had probably never been steam cleaned. The service was good. The food for the most part was average in taste and the portions were small. Five dishes (har gow, sui mai,shrimp/chive dumpling, spring roll, and mini sticky rice) came to $60 with tip. Only the sticky rice was above average in taste. The portion sizes at Western Lake on Victoria Drive are literally twice as large. One star deducted for the lack of attention to cleanliness.

Shanghai Lu is like the “last honest mechanic “ in town. Quality, Value, and Service is bar none! Its authentic OG style is not only delicious but every dish is made with a chef’s kiss! Our family loves this place and as a group of picky eaters we all give this place two thumbs up! We strongly recommend the set for six which comes with seafood soup, crab fried rice, steamed crab legs with garlic, pepper crab fried ( my favorite), sweet n sour pork chops, crispy chicken, veggie pea sprouts including soup and dessert. The owners are not only super sweet and friendly but they very thoughtful of their customers. For example,We had little person in our party that isn’t a seafood fan so they made sure to serve a couple of the non seafood dishes first so that she could also start eating. They also show you the massive live crabs first before cooking them to inspect for freshness and size. Crabs are from Alaska and Norway! Ten stars for Shanghai Lu plus free parking on the top floor! Can’t go wrong here.

Update: it's 2023 and I still come here for dinner! Really good lobster deal with 3 dishes at reasonable price. When you pay in cash it's slightly cheaper too! Support your local business!! Came here to celebrate Chinese Mid Autumn Festival. This restaurant gets booked up during holidays so book ahead of time. We ordered the 3 course bbq duck片皮鴨三食 $68: Peking duck, lettuce wraps and duck soup. All are delicious!! Ordered one more sizzling pot on the side: scallop, eggplant and tofu三子煲$20, two bowls of rice $4. Most Chinese restaurant will offer free dessert, so this time its the classic red bean soup 紅豆沙. Usually come here for dimsum but dinner is pretty good! If you order $30 or more for pickup, there's 10% off too!!

They messed up on a night that was supposed to be a birthday dinner night. Fortune city came through and made a table for us. We are extremely thankful because it was an important night. I’m changing my star ratings to full 5 stars on food, service, and atmosphere. Thank you for your amazing accommodation last minute. Everyone is getting a bigger red envelope this coming Chinese New Year 🧧

Very friendly and good service but some of the food was room temp when it arrived. Taste was good and price was appropriate for the price.

The wait for Saturday at noon was not too bad. Black pepper pork belly soup, the chicken, salt and pepper squids were excellent. The stirred fried noodle with beef was disappointing. They use thin noodles and it wasn't particularly flavourful. Credit card accepted, no amex

Fortune City seafood is always a reliable Cantonese restaurant. We’ve been frequenting them for many years, whether it’s for dim sum, lunch, dinner or delivery, they’re always fast, fresh and reasonable. Some of our favourite dishes includes their salt and pepper pork chops, their sautee shrimp with egg, ginger green onion beef hot pot, house special steam chicken, house special chow mien and so much more. It’s hard to avoid Chinese restaurants using MSG, and I think they do a good balance of it. While I have nothing against MSG, I find some restaurants over use it to hide the inferior quality of their ingredients. Not the case with fortune city seafood. Service is very typical of Chinese restaurants, you have to get a server’s attention if you want anything, but they do make the effort to provide special touches. One time we ordered way too many dishes and our table was cramped, after requesting for a bigger table, they helped us shift all our cutlery and dishes over. They will also ask if you would like the curtains down in the evening when the sun can be in your eyes. They also started doing discounted dishes for take out during COVID. They are now $18/dish, and they’re great when you don’t want to make dinner but still have a family to feed. Or if you want o just add a few extra dishes to your meal. Overall a great place to go for Chinese food and we’ve been enjoying our experience so far!

Dumpling restaurant
Heritage Asian Eatery is a contemporary restaurant with two locations in Vancouver, offering a modern twist on traditional Asian comfort foods. The menu features a wide range of dim sum options, from classic choices to elevated selections like Crystal Truffle Prawn Dumplings and XO XLB. In addition to dim sum, they also offer family feast options including Peking Duck and Heritage Chicken. With high-powered chefs in the kitchen, this eatery presents a younger and hipper version of a Chinese restaurant.
We got the pork belly plate, truffle Siu Mai and the duck bao! Favourite was the pork belly plate. We asked for the less fatty parts so it tasted like BBQ pork. Would go again :)

this place has the cooollest dark green and gold aesthetic / interior design !! the desserts were for sure the best part. the brownie was DELICIOUSSS, it was super warm, had a really good crunch from the panko coating, not overly sweet, and went perfectly with cold ice cream. i am just a sucker for warm desserts paired with ice cream. the black sesame balls had a super thick, chewy outer layer that was a subtle pairing with the sweet black sesame filling. it was super good was some milk. i got the bbq plate with all three meats and substituted the rice with thick egg noodles, and it was pretty delectable. the meat isn’t as high quality and juicy as some other bbq places in specialty richmond restaurants for example, but they definitely weren’t bad either. some bites—especially the pork belly—were nice and fatty which i really liked. both sauces that came with it (ginger scallion oil and the sweet orange one) went super well with all the meats and definitely added a nice salty and sweet kick. the skin on the chicken and the duck were also good, but there was quite a lot of bone imo, and some pieces were a tad dry. the noodles were really well made too, and it was a nice change of pace from the rice that i usually eat alongside the meats. although i do think the ratio of noodle to meat was a bit off — there was a lot more meat than noodles. the prawn toast was also a highlight, it was super crispy on the outside and had really creamy filling, i would definitely recommend ordering this. all the other appetizers were just okay though.

🥢 Food: 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 👉🏻 The dishes here have that classic Cantonese flavor—rich, authentic, and full of depth. Every bite was comforting and delicious. The only small letdown was that the plate was cold or the food took a bit long to serve, which meant the food wasn’t as hot as it could have been. Still, the flavor was so good that it more than made up for it! 🍲✨ 💁🏼 Service: 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 👉🏻 The staff were attentive, polite, and welcoming. They were quick to help and made sure the overall dining experience was enjoyable. Their professionalism matched the quality of the food. 🙌🏼 🍽️ Environment: 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 👉🏻 The restaurant has a clean, modern, and cozy vibe. It’s a comfortable place to enjoy authentic Asian comfort food, whether dining alone or with friends. The atmosphere really complements the cuisine. 🌸🥢

We walked in and got seated right away, it’s a small place so our group got divided in 3. Food was great— highlight was the eggplant bowl! Service was okay, a little bit slow which is understandable since the restaurant was full and there were only 2 waitresses on the floor. The prices were affordable as well. Overall, a great experience and would come back for a quick bite! The washroom was very clean as well.

Consider they are in the business district I was surprised they don’t have some kind of express lunch menu. Prices slightly on the high side but ambience is good. The duck was disappointing. While portion is decent there were more than a few bony pieces. The marinate was probably too light and the skin is not crispy enough, it was just cooked and satisfactory. All things considered, they’re more popular are Baos and bbq pork which I have not tried. so maybe my review is abit harsh.

Love interior design! We ordered sticky rice with mushrooms, fried cauliflowers, shrimp toast, traditional suimai, truffle suimai, Crispy wontons and dan dan noodle to share and absolutely enjoyed every dish! (Forgot to take some pictures of the dishes as we are so excited about the food). Our favourite would be shrimp toast, truffle suimai and fried cauliflowers. We definitely be back to try bao and other bowls. Very friendly staffs

We wanted Heritage AE to be a hit. But the two food choices we tried did not hit the mark. The Truffle Siu Mai Dumpling appetizer was good. The Roasted Duck BBQ (rice base) dish was not good. The Duck seemed to be half bone and the meat itself was mostly tuff and chewy. Rice had a few lumpy areas but the sauce/flavoring of that meal was good. The Dan Dan Noodles with added pork was OK. Average dish but beware that this comes "soupy". We asked our server to recommend something not soupy because it is not our taste. She said Dan Dan was not but the noodles were in a soup bowl immersed in liquid. We come back to Vancouver all the time and are here for two weeks and unfortunately this is the first restaurant we have had to put on our no go list moving forward. We went for lunch and it got very busy with what appeared to be locals so it may just be we made bad meal choices?

Cantonese restaurant
Chinese restaurant
Lee Garden Seafood Restaurant offers a diverse menu of traditional Cantonese dishes such as noodles, hot pot, dim sum, and seafood. The elegant dining room provides a sophisticated ambiance for patrons. Despite being busy with multiple large parties, the attentive staff ensured that customers' tea and hot water were constantly refilled. To compensate for the longer wait time of approximately 50 minutes for food, complimentary dessert was offered.
We came in for lunch and were in a rush (so, good thing we made reservations). It took awhile for someone to greet us at the front, but the service was courteous and prompt afterwards. The dim sum is pretty good by Vancouver/Richmond/Burnaby standards, which is good overall! :) (I was not a big fan of the mini cuttlefish here, though)
Edith W — Google review
Came here for dim sum on the weekend and parking is very very busy. There is street parking if you're willing to walk a couple blocks. Make sure to make reservations, especially if you have a large party. Dim sum is pretty good, and the size are fine too. Service is average, but it is probably because how busy it is.
Francis W — Google review
You can't go wrong with any Chinese food here in Vancouver, and Lee Garden is no exception. Although I'm not a local, I have friends who say they order takeout or dine in here often. Food: The time I wrote this review, my family wanted to try some fish, so the waitress suggested the goby. Our family wanted it steamed and on the lighter side, but the waitress insisted on frying it, swearing that it was their signature dish. When the goby came, it was quite good! Sauce was flavorful, and the oil used to fry it was definitely fresh and not oil reused for days like some other restaurants. Oh, also the goby was nearly seventy dollars. Seafood ain't cheap, guys. The pea tips (豆苗) had a generous serving size, thank god we brought along the whole family to finish this off. The green beans with pumpkin and eggplants were great too, you know the chef knows what they're doing when the eggplant is fully cooked but the skin retains its vibrant purple. It was a bit too oil-heavy for my family, but considering we like stuff on the lighter and less salty side I'm sure you don't need to worry about it. The BBQ duck (烧鸭) was great, chewy meat and crispy skin— what you'd expect from experienced kitchen staff. Ooh! And dessert was red bean soup. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I do taste a hint of citrus that was used in this soup. Ingenious! Definitely balances out the palate, making it a great dessert. Service: Shout-out to our waiter (I think his name was Gary), he was super friendly. He also cut the goby with expertise, and as bonus points brought over the reader to our table instead of us having to walk to the counter to pay. His energy and passion in what he was doing was very evident, if the bosses are reading this please do give that guy a raise. Atmosphere: Very pretty chandeliers, and also those are some impressively large snow crabs (our family debated on getting them for dinner, but we finally decided we probably couldn't finish a whole entire snow crab). Only thing is that Vancouver is a little more on the colder side in terms of temperature, and the AC was just a tad too cold for me... or maybe it's a me problem. Stop by here if you don't want hellishly long wait times (like some other restaurants). There was no line when we came for dinner, and the overall experience is what you'd expect of Chinese cuisine.

Large restaurant. Decent size free parking lot. Good food. Decent service. Service is pretty good but we probably got better than average service due to our host knowing a staff member and we were ordering lots off food. Food was very good. We didn't pay so cannot comment on the price. I'm guessing still average to extra expensive in this post pandemic economy.

Can this Garden touch my heart (dim sum)..? I have been coming here for both dinner and dim sum over the years ever since it first opened. Just like many others, I haven’t gotten around to review it. This Chinese seafood restaurant is located a block east of Gilley Ave on Kingsway in Burnaby. It has a private parking lot shared with a couple of other small eatery places. I haven’t been here for over a year or two, let’s see how the food in this Garden is now. Here were the food I ordered; 1. Salted spareribs with preserved vegetables congee. It was okay, pretty basic compared to other places. 2. Special prawn dumpling. The skin was nice and prawns had a nice clean fresh taste. However, pretty basic like most places. 3. Steamed chicken feet with special sauce. A must order dish doesn’t matter which place I go to for dim sum. The chicken feet were large, skins were tender and falls off the bone, the sauce was pretty moderate. Decently okay. 4. Steamed mixed meat and peanut dumplings. Once again pretty basic dumpling dish since ancient times. 5. Deep fried crab claws. Used to love them when I was a kid. These ones weren’t so good. Had that hard crumb texture on the outside and inside missing that juicy shrimp and fatty pork fusion taste. 6. Steamed rice rolls with beef. The rice rolls could be a bit thinner and silkier. 7. Steamed egg yolk bun. Not bad, the egg yolk was pretty creamy and rich. 8. Stir fried king prawns with eggplants. The prawns were pretty big and eggplants were stir fried the right amount to be soft and tender without breaking apart. Pretty tasty dish. Overall, the dim sum food was pretty basic here. Maybe because so many new restaurants became more creative with the dim sum menu over the years. The dim sum food quality is pretty basic here and the price is comparable to most higher end dim sum restaurants. As for the service, the servers and staffs here were okay. Nothing to complain or daydream about. The restaurant layout is pretty straightforward and clean with a spacious dining area to ensure comfortability for all diners. It’s a decent local Chinese seafood restaurant for the neighborhood but I wouldn’t go out of my way just to drive here for food. Unfortunately it only touched 3 stars of my heart.

Lee Garden Seafood Restaurant serves a solid chow mein and decent dim sum, but it doesn’t particularly stand out among the many great options out there.

Restaurant
Fortune Terrace Chinese Cuisine is an upscale restaurant located in the suburb of Richmond, just south of downtown Vancouver. It offers elevated Cantonese fare, with highly recommended shrimp dim sum and lobster congee. The 10-course meal is praised as one of the best in Richmond, featuring exceptional dishes like Salted Egg Yolk Lobster and Whole Roasted Piglet. The atmosphere is reminiscent of a traditional Chinese restaurant, with attentive servers and a modern interior.
Came here with two friends and we were super happy with the food. We ordered 4 main dishes and 1 dessert, and it was more than enough for the three of us — we left full and satisfied. The portions are big and the prices are totally fair for what you get. Everything tasted fresh and delicious. Definitely a solid spot if you're craving dim sum without breaking the bank. Will be back for sure!
Alisha_Jira — Google review
Food: The prices may be on the higher end, but I think the ingredients are fresh and well-prepared. It’s not your traditional dim sum—the dishes stand out with their innovative twists. I was pleasantly surprised by both the taste and presentation. The food isn’t overly greasy or salty, which I appreciate. Be sure to ask for their chili oil or XO sauce—both are delicious and complement the dishes well. Honourable mentions: the fried rice, taro nest, and truffle siu mai. Service: Service can be hit or miss. They tend to be quite busy—some staff are very efficient, though sometimes a bit too quick when dropping off plates. Others are friendly and cheerful. It really depends on the day, but overall, they get the job done. Atmosphere: They offer private rooms, which help reduce noise—great for hosting banquets. The space isn’t super fancy, but it’s clean and well-maintained.

I’m a huge fan of dim sum, and being in Vancouver, it’s been tough to find a solid spot. The dim sum here can be a bit hit or miss, but on this visit, it was definitely a win. We were a large group celebrating a friend's birthday, and everything came out hot and fresh. The flavors were on point, and I really appreciate how the dishes here are both cute and tasty—not just cute but actually delicious! Service was okay, as expected, but we did visit during a busy time, so I’m not too bothered. Tea and sauces took a few reminders to be refilled, but again, that’s pretty typical during peak hours.

Their dim sum prices are definitely higher than other dim sum restaurants around No. 3 Road in Richmond, but the location is convenient for groups of 5 to 8 people. The staff were attentive and our food came out quickly.

Choices of dimsum is huge. For dimsum lovers, this is a good place to dine. Prices r reasonable and portion is quite big and served aesthetically. Taste of food is good and service is quick and typical of chinese restaurant. The place is super crowded so better come outside peak hours. A recommended place in vancouver.
Salony W — Google review
I was somewhat disappointed with this place. The fish balls we ordered tasted fishy, the beancurd shrimp wrap was difficult to chew, and the rice noodle, bitter melon and beef was stringy and not very crispy. It was disappointing enough that neither one of us wanted to take home leftovers. It became clear to us why we didn't need reservations the way we used to have to get a few years back.

Good place for quick comfort chinese food. Their lunch specials are worth the price as it came in huge servings. The food is tasty and arrived hot. The dimsum also came in large portiond. The place is not that big so you have to come early or prepare to wait a few minutes for a table.

The $99 all-you-can-eat lobster set menu during Christmas was quite fitting. My companion and I tried the lobster in scallion and ginger, creamy, soy sauce, spicy, and Typhoon shelter flavors. The lobster was fresh and had a nice taste, particularly fond of the soy sauce flavor. The price was reasonable, though I hope for a more pleasant attitude from a female server.

It’s a decent place for lunch. It’s great comfort food. The quality is decent. But the price is a touch high. Service is on the slow side. But it’s convenient because it’s near Metrotown. Usually noodle soup orders are pretty quick but the wait was really long… Congee noodle down the street has faster service hands down.

BAD quality wonton with strong taste of frozen shrimps and tough skin. The fish soup base doesn't taste like fish soup and it has a lack of taste. The fried squid has a thick coating. The Chinese sausage in the radish cake has a stale pork fat taste.
Henry H — Google review
Ordered the preserved duck egg with lean pork congee and it was delicious but the portion was so small for the price. It was $16.95 on Uber Eats for one small bowl of congee which is mostly rice and water in terms of content. Was expecting a much larger container for $16.95.

Waited 25 minutes for the food, when there was only one other person when I made my order. Staff cannot speak English and are inflexible with customizations. The chicken and fish were both rubbery and gummy, the fish especially has skin so hard and rubbery it was actually hard to chew.
Harran S — Google review
Rude Staff, Misleading Surcharge & Uncomfortable Dining Experience During a birthday dinner with two Japanese friends at Metro Town's Neptune Noodle Bar, our experience was utterly ruined by unprofessional staff behavior. 1. Harassment Over Payment & Empty Tables: Despite the restaurant having multiple empty tables and no queue outside, an employee (seated near us) repeatedly shouted across the dining area asking if our table had paid yet. Her loud inquiries ("Has this table paid?") were aggressive and clearly audible to us. When another staff member snapped back "No," the tension was palpable. Thankfully, my friends don’t understand Cantonese, but this public badgering was humiliating. I double checked that it was 9:30pm, still 1.5 hr from the closing time 11:00pm. 2. Contradictory Cake Policy: We called in advance to confirm bringing a birthday cake and received permission. Yet during the meal, staff rushed us constantly despite no crowd pressure. 3. Deceptive Card Surcharge Scam: The menu states credit cards incur a 2% fee, while debit/cash do not. However, when I paid with a **clearly labeled DEBIT card**, the cashier insisted it was a credit card and tried to charge extra. She argued with me about my own card type, refusing to acknowledge her mistake even when shown the card. This is either intentional fraud or gross incompetence. Conclusion: Food quality was acceptable, but the staff’s disrespect, pressure tactics (especially toward foreign guests), and dishonest payment practices make this place unacceptable. My friends witnessed me being publicly argued with over a valid debit card—an embarrassing end to a birthday meal. Avoid this restaurant unless you enjoy being harassed and overcharged.

Max Noodle House is a hidden gem in Richmond, with a cozy atmosphere and alpine-inspired decor. It's known for its authentic Hong Kong flavors, offering dishes like Wonton Noodles and Poached Sliced Beef that truly capture the essence of old Hong Kong cuisine. The restaurant has received recognition for its delicious offerings, including their flavorful milk tea and perfectly cooked blanched kidney. Visitors also rave about the beef tendon dry noodles and tasty wontons.
The wonton noodles is very good, soup is tasty and noodle texture is great which keep perfectly original Guandong style. But notice that the original Guandong style wonton noodle portion is small, so it might no enough for men.
Kernel W — Google review
Max Noodle House serves one of the most authentic bowls of Cantonese wonton noodles in North America. A simple dish, yes, but executed with such precision and quiet pride that it puts many more expensive establishments to shame. Some reviews are unintentionally hilarious. One self-proclaimed foodie lamented the size of the wontons, as though quantity were the defining trait of quality. Traditional wontons are meant to be small. Each one is a refined parcel of flavour, not a grotesque meatball in disguise. Wonton noodles, historically, are a light street food, not a lumberjack’s brunch. Complaining about portion size is like criticising espresso for not coming in a soup bowl. Others grumble about the price and suggest getting sushi instead. Presumably, they mean the North American kind, smothered in mayonnaise and confusion. True craftsmanship in food costs money, especially when it’s done right. The broth here is clear and rich, the noodles perfectly al dente, the wontons silky and fragrant. There’s skill involved, and it shows. Most patrons are older Hong Kong locals. The staff know many by name. Service is warm, unhurried, and genuine. There is no pretence. Just good food made by people who know exactly what they’re doing. Max Noodle House does not pander. It preserves. It serves a dish the way it should be served, without compromise. In a world of shortcuts and sriracha-laced chaos, that’s worth celebrating.
The Y — Google review
We enjoyed some traditional wonton noodles for dinner. The beef brisket noodles are good too. We also had the congee that was soft and tasty. Everything is served in the traditional smaller bowls, but it should still be enough per person. Note that this is cash only. Parking can get quite busy because there are a number of restaurants in this mall. There are a few spots if you proceed through the alley way on the left of the restaurant.
Francis W — Google review
As a Cantonese, the noodle taste good. The wonton is legit. Generally the food is decent and the service is nice. The portion size is way too small for the price though. The portion size in Canton is not big, so I appreciate small portion size. I would have loved it more if the price is $2-3 less, then everything would be perfect.
Hong Z — Google review
This spot exemplifies so much of what we love about Richmond’s Asian restaurant scene. No fancy menu “bells and whistles”; no splashy, expensive decor; brisk service; and, well prepared, tasty food at a fair price. Oh, and note: it’s a cash only establishment so be prepared. We enjoyed: Taro and Pork Spring Rolls; Chinese Doughnut; Lo-Mein with Shredded Pork in Spicy Brown Sauce (#22) and, Braised Beef Brisket/Tendon & Wuntun Noodle Soup (#3). Tge spring rolls were crispy and only a wee bit oily. The Chinese doughnut was crispy, yummy and perfect for broth dipping. The Lo-Mei Noodles with Shredded Pork was very nice, with perfectly al dente noodles and a nice, spicy oil. The beef brisket/tendon was a highlight, mainly because of the melt-in-your-mouth tendon - some of the best we’ve had. Total charge: $52.00 (tax & tip included). Recommended.
Culinary S — Google review
Max Noodle in Richmond is easily the most authentic wonton noodle house in Canada, maybe even North America. The wontons are solid five stars, perfectly made and full of flavour. The noodles have that true springy bite that is hard to find outside Hong Kong. The beef brisket is a touch underwhelming, good but missing something, so closer to four stars. Service is often called cold but I found it warm among regulars, more like a neighbourhood club than a restaurant.
Zacery W — Google review
It’s very good quality but super expensive and small portion; est $20/dish and it won’t be enough for a normal size men’s stomach. I appreciate the traditional guangzhou food but not at this price:) feels like getting rip off in Vancouver as a tourist. I don’t know bc of insane price inflation or just this restaurant. Sorry if I am being too harsh if this were every Vancouver restaurant’s price.
Liu L — Google review
I came with my grandmother and we ordered more than the average for two people. The beef brisket and tendon were my favourite. It had a very savoury taste, not being too salty and it came apart easily. The shrimp wontons weren’t my favourite, but they were small and tender. My grandmother ordered rice noodles with pork and mushroom wontons and that tasted much better in my opinion. The stewed pork hock was quite tender and held a gelatinous texture. The dace fish balls were soft and flavourful especially when you dip it in the soy sauce green onion and oil dish. The beef liver was alright, I’m usually not a fan of the metallic taste, but my grandmother said it was really good. The claypot rice were decent, nothing stood out and probably wouldn’t order it again. However, the rice on one claypot was more scorched and crunchy than the other. The dishes are more for individual portion sizes, which is great for trying more foods and not taking so much home. It is a CASH only restaurant and quite the hole in the wall that’s been around for ages. The service is great if you know Cantonese, otherwise be expected to wait awhile. The food came out quickly, and steamy hot. The servers answered quickly to orders in Chinese but forgot my English requests of iced water. We went around closing time, so it was relatively busy and it quickly died down when it was last call. I will definitely come back knowing when I crave some beef brisket and tendon noodle soup.

Yue Restaurant is a sophisticated Chinese establishment that offers a selection of Hong Kong–style dim sum and Cantonese dishes. The restaurant provides an elegant ambiance with white tablecloths, attentive service, and a diverse clientele. Dim sum, also known as yum cha, is a cherished Cantonese tradition that the restaurant excels in. Visitors praise the perfectly steamed dumplings, light and flaky char sui pastry, flavorful sticky rice wrap, and delightful homemade desserts.
Dinner with family for 9 people. Service is too notched. Our plates were changed at least 2-3 times. Fish and shrimp were delicious! My family thought some dishes were more salty than others (not consistent) but I personally think it’s great. Server also recommended chef’s dishes to us which were appreciated. We had kids and they put us in a corner table which were very thoughtful. Comes to about $50 per person with seafood and duck/chicken. Highly recommended.

Whether you’re catching up with friends or settling in for a family celebration, the layout strikes the right balance between casual and refined. Attentive & Welcoming Service The staff at Yue are always on their toes—quick to refill tea, clarify menu items, and accommodate requests. They strike just the right chord: friendly and efficient without being overbearing. Stellar Cantonese Offerings From classic spring rolls and roasted duck to delicate seafood dishes, the Cantonese selection hits all the right notes in flavor and presentation. Every dish feels thoughtfully prepared and in harmony with traditional tastes. Dim Sum & Dinner—an All-Day Delight Known far and wide for its dim sum, Yue certainly lives up to the hype. These bite-sized treasures are impeccably executed: fresh, fluffy, and full of flavor. But don’t stop there—dinner is equally impressive. The dinner menu boasts an impressive range of Cantonese standards, with each dish tasting as thoughtfully curated as the next. The Verdict: Yue Restaurant is a standout among Richmond’s Cantonese spots. With great food, cozy charm, and top-notch service, it earns its reputation as a go-to for dim sum—and proves equally reliable for a satisfying evening meal.

Get here early for less wait! Great dim sum place with some different variety food items that are less conventional. Each item was tasty and flavorful . Staff is efficient, but with volume there is a time limit in seating, which is fine for a small group.

The food was very good but over priced for what you get. Dependable but nothing stood out as amazing. I forgot to take pictures of most of the dishes. The restaurants in Vancouver close remarkably early (21:30 on a Saturday???). A waiter came around at 21:00 asking if we wanted to order anything else, we asked if dessert could be ordered later and he said that was fine... Of course when we tried to order dessert it was too late. But overall I would say the deal was decent just over priced. We did get a huge lobster but even simple dishes were at least $40.

I saw so many review on Google and Dianping has very good review. That’s why I went to have a try. Actually it is not bad. No matter it's performance of food, their service or vibe are also nice but if someone has MSG allergy should not try. I drink a lot of water whole day after I went there for lunch.

We had a reservation and arrived 10 minutes early, waiting politely at the entrance. The staff loudly asked if there were reservations, but I saw multiple walk-in regulars being seated ahead of us. I understand regulars may get special treatment, but there was no need to mislead us by saying a “large table was being cleaned.” In reality, we waited 30 minutes only to be given a small table near the entrance. We had elderly family members, a child, and even a pregnant lady with us, the waiting arrangement felt inconsiderate. After ordering dim sum, fried dishes came within 2 minutes, but they were cold, clearly feeling like returned items rather than freshly cooked. The only polite staff we encountered were the manager handling payment and the dim sum lady. Overall, a very disappointing experience.

Great location, easy accessible. Food are great portion and good value. The taste is great, like back to Hong Kong. Recommend to try during the weekday, more relax and less people to wait for the tables.

Nestled in the Continental Shopping Centre strip mall, Sing Yee Chinese Restaurant is a vibrant and bustling eatery that serves up an array of traditional Cantonese dishes well into the night. This no-frills spot has garnered attention for its delectable steamed pork cake, which features finely minced pork cooked to perfection, resulting in a velvety texture bursting with flavor. The restaurant offers authentic da laang dishes that are sure to satisfy any palate.
Extremely tasty authentic Cantonese da laang dishes. The late night discount specials start after 9pm and though pricier than other competitors, the quality is better and the portions are generous. If you buy 3 dishes, it comes with a free large plain rice congee. Highly recommend the pea shoots in consomme which were so tender and rich, the deep fried silverfish, deep fried pork intestines, and honey garlic spareribs. The taste of the food was all on point and was so satisfying. Would definitely return.

Some delicious Hong Kong / Cantonese cuisine. This place is one of the least saltiest HK/Chinese restaurants I’ve eaten at. Very balanced and decent flavour. We came early at around 5-6pm but I highly recommend reservations. Fish tasted pretty good, beef was a bit oily but still good. Service was very friendly. Dessert was a Taro Sago (also called Ximiru) and was very good and not too sweet.

There are very few da lang late night places in Richmond that open after midnight so tried this place as we haven't been here for a while. The prices are quite expensive and the dishes are not large, but the food is tasty and there is a variety. Lots of parking late night so it's preferred over Vancouver places. It's busy even weekday night, but the service is not the best
Erica N — Google review
I read the reviews (good and bad), and honestly, was thoroughly impressed with this place. The 叉燒 (BBQ Pork) I had here was the best I've ever had. Nice level of thickness to their pieces, an interesting level of slight chard on the outer layer, yet still juicy on the inside. Plus, the 燒肉 (Roast Pork) was had the crispiest skin I've had compared to most other places in Los Angeles. HOWEVER, I have to take points away from their 乾炒牛河 (Beef Stir-fried Rice Noodles). The flavor was really lacking. Color was off, and it was much more oily than they normally should be. I took it to go, but honestly, had to dump half of it the next morning. BUT they did redeem themselves with the level of service --very nice people! On top of that, despite only ordering so few dishes, we still got dessert at the end! 紅豆沙 was really good! Had some cooked 糯米 (sticky rice) or 黑米 (black rice) maybe? Added a nice distinct flavor to it. Oh, and my girlfriend had some really good 薑汁撞奶 (Ginger juice over gelatin milk)! It was nice and rich, very creamy and custard-like (possibly used egg whites). If I got anything wrong, please let me know! Total came out to almost $70CAD, and then I decided to add the total to $80CAD for tip. Would definitely love to come back and try their other dishes.

This is one of the Chinese restaurants that opens till late in Richmond, BC. It serves many Canton dishes as well as some Chiu Chow dishes. We ordered 5 dishes (see photos) for 6 of us. The best is the deep fried intestines. For those who like this dish must know that the crispiness is the key. If deep frying for too long, they will become very dry, but if too short, it would defeat the whole purpose of having this dish. Sing Yee managed to do it JUST RIGHT. And I love the appropriate amount of fat they left on the intestines to give them more flavor. The deep fried duck meat and taro is not bad. The meat in the taro remained juicy and tender with the right amount of flavor. It would have been better if they had a better control of the deep frying time (honestly I don't understand why they did so well with the pig intestines but not this one). As you can probably see from the photo, they turned brown and became quite dry because of deep drying for too long. The fish fillet and the steam fish came as a combo for $59.90. They both tasted alright. Nothing outstanding. The WORST is the beef briskets with daikon. If I really had to rate it, I would give it 1/10. Why? The beef briskets were very dry and tough, and the daikon were not fully cooked. Not to mention that there were so little beef briskets. The photo might have given you an impression otherwise, but in fact the briskets were so thinly sliced. We regretted for ordering this. I think we may still visit again given Sing Yee's long operating hours and the vast variety in its menu. We will never order beef briskets though.

Foods are excellent. Can keep up the standard most of time. It is very Canton/Hong Kong style dishes. A middle size dinning area but always packed of people. I suggested you always book the table before you go. Service has a room to improve, not the worse but not very friendly either. Therefore, if you do not care about service at all, this is the place you should go.

We decided to try Sing Yee for the boss’ s birthday dinner. We had reservations for 930pm but were seated 20 minutes later. The restaurant was busy so I had high hopes. Our server was attentive and friendly. We ordered plain congee and many dishes. Everything was served hot and yummy. Definitely worth trying out in Richmond!

Legit Cantonese style night restaurant. The only thing not too authentic is how nice and polite the servers were, it ain't like that in real hong kong restaurants. The steamed milk dessert is top notch. Was opened till midnight on Friday, great Late night option!

Happy Noodle House is a cozy spot that serves up delectable noodle dishes with a friendly atmosphere. The hand-pulled noodles are a standout feature, and the Szechuan beef noodle soup is particularly noteworthy for its rich and spicy broth, tender beef slices, and perfectly cooked noodles. The menu offers a variety of flavorful noodle options that are perfect for warming up during the colder months.
Fresh hand made noodles that were really good. The rest of the menu was just as good. The spicy tangy dumplings were delicious and I couldn’t stop having the broth. The soup dumplings were well made, didn’t break and amazing. Glad we found this place.

Very authentic restaurant with great service and delicious food. So many things to choose from but we did the Chive pockets as an appetizer and the Beijing zha Jiang noddle and pork with spicy chili for the mains. The noodles were quite good and the pork sauce was perfect. Portions were good all though the chive pockets were a bit expensive for just 2 but they were good. The pork with chilis was great and we're actually quite spicy. Definitely recommend.

A pretty nice little noodle house. The taste wasn’t exactly stunning, but it was still quite authentic and delicious. Considering the portion size, it was quite a good deal. Based on our dining experience at the time, most of the customers were not Chinese, which shows that the restaurant has been successfully promoted. Personally recommended, and I would visit again if I get the chance.

The food was good - not necessarily the authentic Chinese flavor but taste good. Nice people there - while arrived early than their opening hours, they still let me sit in and wait - which was great for a chill day.

Food is decent. I wouldn't say it's amazing but for the price it's not bad either. Located on a really busy street so finding a parking spot is really hard. Also, food did not take long to arrive at the table. Wonton soup was missing flavor and the Chilli fish was too sweet.

Amazing!!! We had a couple of days in vancouver and found this little gem on Google, small place, little rough around the edges on the decor but that normally promises good things and this place does not disappoint, very friendly staff, brought water while we pondered over the menu, went with the schezuan beef noodles, pork steamed dumplings and chilli wontons, the beef noodles had so much flavour the beef was tender and the hand pulled noodles were the best ive ever had, the Pork dumplings were cooked perfectly had a little soup inside and tasted amazing but the star of the show were the chilli wontons, absolutely phenomenal, not too spicy great flavour cooked perfectly, the portions are large so go with an appetite,if I lived in the area this would be my go to place, the staff were friendly and polite and as we left there was a que forming out the door with hold testament to how well received this place is in the area, they do take out and had a constant stream of customers and delivery drivers picking up orders, 10/10 definitely pay this place a visit.

Silkway Halal Cuisine in Richmond offers a diverse menu of Xinjiang-style dishes, all prepared with halal ingredients. The restaurant avoids pork and focuses on hearty options like lamb, chicken, and beef paired with hand-pulled noodles. The atmosphere is simple, allowing the food to take center stage. While some dishes may lack consistency, others burst with flavor and generous portions cater to those who enjoy hearty meals.
We have been a several times and this is our first review, I know right! We ordered the CURRY SHRIMP FRIED RICE! Delicious and flavourful, salt and spice was perfect and on point. Not to salty or anything of the sort! The 2nd dish was SAUTÉED SEASONAL VEGGIE. With garlic and a savory sauce that was a delight! The final dish was SAUTÉED CUMIN FRIED LAMB! medium spiced and the salt was on point. Not to spicy or hot , but perfect the way it should be. I also had GREEN TEA on the side! Will be back, have been here like a half a dozen times, NEVER DISAPPOINTED always HAPPY & SATISFYING!

There is free limited spot parking in the back. You have to park there and tell the server your car number. Otherwise parking in front is paid. Heard good things about this place so thought I'd try it. Tried some dishes people mentioned. Hot and sour soup - not standard. No wood ear, bamboo, etc. Taste was ok. Mongolian beef - everybody seems to rave about this but it was nothing special. Quite salty. Bei fung tong chicken wings - presentation is very nice. Lots of fried garlic pieces to take home and mix with rice. Chicken didnt have much seasoning but it was crispy and very juicy. Cumin lamb fried noodles - quite standard. Tasty but can get this dish elsewhere for cheaper. Overall nothing really stood out in terms of taste. We went on Sunday during lunch time and it was just us and another table. I would try other dishes next time.

Came here tonight for a birthday dinner with friends. The inside feels a bit run-down, and unfortunately the service was disappointing — our server seemed rude and uninterested in serving guests. The food presentation was nice, but the seasoning was off for some dishes. The lamb was quite good, but the hot and sour soup was extremely salty, and overall most dishes leaned too salty. They do offer limited free parking at the back, but you need to register your license plate inside the restaurant.

Average food, guy working was harsh, rude. Another person ordered $125 worth of food then asked if he could make a change to the order 5 seconds later only. Staff guy said no! It's already cooking! Staff guy must be stressed. Instead of asking you what you would like to order, he just says, "What?" I thought I was hearing things so I said pardon? he says, "What?" that's his way of asking you what you would like to order. It's not a language barrier, the guys speaks perfect english. My friend orders something worth $12-13 and give him a $20 bill. Staff guys says, you got anything smaller? What a brutal service!!

This is still one of my go-to spots for some quick soup dumplings. I try to make an effort to stop by at least once when up in Richmond. Their soup dumplings are one of the juiciest and flavorful ones I've had. The price went up slightly, but that is expected. The quality of the soup dumplings are still great and worth getting.
Charlie T — Google review
I’ve been to this place many times and usually enjoy the food, not extraordinary , but edible Sadly to say today was really disappointing. The dumplings were terrible — the wrappers were so thick and hard, and the filling had no taste at all. The vegetables were the worst part: they were rotten and tough like tree branches. I don’t know what happened today, but the quality has dropped a lot. Really hope they fix this because it used to be much better.
Swimming L — Google review
5 stars for food quality and selection! Highly recommended. The spicy beef noodle soup is delicious! Service is friendly but a far cry from fast. It's understood that it's fresh to order so it'll take some time, we appreciate that, so a 10-15 minute wait makes sense, but when you make people wait 30 minutes for whatever reason, this needs to be fixed. So although I highly recommend this place for the food experience, just beware of the long wait times, hopefully the owner can fix this, was it would be a 5 star establishment, and a gem to have in Richmond! Great XLB and grilled buns, as well as noodles and everything else!

I met a friend for lunch at Joyful Seafood Restaurant on a Saturday afternoon. We arrived at 12:45pm and had to wait approximately 20 minutes for a table for two. The wait time was not excessive, and our order started arriving promptly after being seated. The restaurant offered a wide variety of options on their lunch menu, with prices ranging from $8 to $15. I enjoyed the decent-sized dim sum and found that there were plenty of choices available.
Arranged dinner at Joyful Seafood Restaurant for Mother's Day. Dining Manager Sam helped us order Alaska King Crab and other favorite dishes for dinner. Manager Sam personally helped me handpick a very fresh and live Alaska King Crab, which was prepared and cooked in three different dish styles: steamed with garlic, salt and pepper, and seafood stir-fried rice. Thanks to Manager Sam and all waiters and waitress, it was a busy Mother's Day evening, but service quality is as good as usual with zero compromise. After dinner desert and biscuit was great. Wrapped up all those biscuit for coffee times during day times. Look forward to future visits.
RICHARD W — Google review
The food quality has dropped drastically. We came here at dinner time and manager Sam had came around, once or twice however he only cares about the money. The more you order, the friendlier he will be. The fried rice was a little too wet, the lobster was not fresh, the duck wrap was okay. Best thing of the night may have been the warm cookies as dessert. Overall, price and food quality considered, there are better Chinese out there.
Cole D — Google review
The dim sum here comes in very generous portions, and the prices are quite reasonable considering the quality. The restaurant has an elegant and spotless environment that makes the whole dining experience very pleasant and relaxing. Manager Sam is exceptionally warm, welcoming, and attentive, making sure every guest feels well taken care of. Overall, it’s a wonderful place that’s definitely worth visiting regularly for good food, great service, and a comfortable atmosphere.

The food at Joyful Seafood Restaurant was top notch. I want to say it’s the best Chinese seafood restaurant in Greater Vancouver. The customer service level was excellent. Manager Sam was very helpful in helping us choosing a fresh rockfish as dinner. It was the freshest seafood I ever had. Kudos to all the waiters and waitresses. The quality of the lunch dim sum was also top notch. I definitely highly recommend Joyful Seafood restaurant.

My family and friends had a dim sum reservation on a Sunday, which we made a week in advance. The food was good and the staff was constantly clearing our plates, which was a bit distracting but we appreciated the attentiveness. However, the experience felt very rushed from the start. We were informed upon being seated that we had a 1.5-hour time limit. While we understand the restaurant was busy, we felt pressured to leave as soon as the time was up, which detracted from our dining experience. I'd recommend this restaurant for its food, but be prepared for a quick turnaround, especially on a busy day. Also come early for parking as well as it gets packed quickly.
J J — Google review
This tropical Chinese restaurant has a unique service style with little to no eye contact from the staff. While the food is average—slightly better than other similar places—it's difficult to get any service, even if you try to flag someone down. I hope more Chinese restaurants reconsider this tradition. If you offer good food, quality service should also be a priority.

Restaurant
Mama's Dumpling & Coffee is a casual and modern eatery that serves classic Chinese dumplings, noodles, and coffee. The restaurant is owned by a chef from Beijing and her coffee-loving daughter. Their specialty includes thin-skinned xiao long bao soup dumplings and limited-quantity pan-fried pork buns that require advance ordering due to their popularity.
Great xiao long bao (soup dumplings)!! Crispy rice noodle / chive dumpling pockets, and pan fried pork buns. All homemade and fresh. My Asian parents enjoyed the food, so this place deserves a higher rating. Ordered at the counter, paid upfront, had to self service with getting the menus - it’s a more casual vibe. There are designated parking spots for their business within the lot area. Wish they had napkins at every table

I random came upon Mama’s diner in the industrial area behind Ironwood. It’s a hole in the wall with easy parking. The food is normal Chinese food (not too westernized). The shrimp dumplings and pork dumplings were good. Nothing exceptional (in comparison to Kirin or Fisherman’s Terrace) but tasty and much more economical. The noodles were very tasty and honestly the price is lower than most places. Service is hard to rate as you pay up front and seat yourself. The staff pickup dirty plates and empty containers. You get your own water and tea. I do not mind this at all but can’t really give a 4-5 star review. If you want a hole in the wall without breaking the bank I highly recommend it. It’s nothing fancy but good nonetheless.

Lunch at Mama’s Dumplings & Coffee in Richmond. Can’t believe I’ve only found this place now 2 minute away from where I play pickleball. It’s hidden away in an industrial park in Ironwood District. It’s a casual place where you order at the till and they bring you your food. I ordered the Shanghai style Wonton Noodle Soup which was really good & flavourful. I also ordered their Xiao Long Bao (XLB) , Pan Fried Soup dumplings & Shanghai Fried Noodles which were amazing. Tip: Poke a hole in the Pan Fried Soup dumplings before biting into them or you will be wearing the soup home like I did. Service is minimalistic. The place is super safe and will unlikely to get robbed because it’s full of Police officers that come here on their lunch or coffee break. I even asked one of the officers who’s a regular here for his recommendations. Will definitely be coming there again. @thefoodiecarguy

This was my first time ordering takeout from this restaurant, and unfortunately, it was quite disappointing. I ordered the Shanghai fried noodles and SH fried pork buns. The buns had thick, tough wrappers that tasted like they’d been refried more than once. The fried noodles were a bit greasy and had a strong old oily smell, which made me suspect the oil had been reused from deep-frying. Although the prices were reasonable, the food quality and taste didn’t live up to expectations. The pick up waiting time was over 20 minutes.

Nice cozy shanghai style dumpling house! They use organic meat apparently which is different! Their shanghai style-fried noodles are delicious! Really like the texture and taste of it. One thing I will note about those is that there's not enough noodle! It's like 60% noodle, 40% veggies. Should be at least like 75-80%! The Pork Soup Buns are pretty good. How are they compared to shanghai river? I would say Shanghai river is still better but these are pretty close! The pan fried dumplings are good, but small. Could be larger! The curry beef on rice is good, same with Garlic broccoli. The pan fried soup pork buns are really good! Must try! UPDATE: 2023-11-09

Honestly, the best food I've had a very long time! This place is a true food gem in the middle of an industrial area in Richmond. I went in at around 5pm on a Saturday and the place was literally empty because we had just missed the lunch rush and it was before the dinner rush (lots of people started to come in at around 6:30pm). I loved the empty restaurant though because we got special attention from Mama herself - such a sweet lady! Let me tell y'all about the food - O.M.G. Absolutely incredible (I mean, just look at the pics!). We had the pan-fried egg, shrimp, and chives dumplings and they were delicious. The green beans were also absolutely out-of-this-world. Perfectly seasoned and cooked. The Shanghai noodles and the fried rice were also very good! Aside from the bomb food, the environment was clean and inviting. Even the washrooms were super nice and fancy! The only downside is that Mama's is closed on Sundays, but I suppose the staff deserve a break. I would HIGHLY recommend this place to everyone!! I can't wait to go back.
Sachi P — Google review
Even from driving around the industrial area behind Ironwood Plaza, I never registered Mama's Dumpling & Coffee. Then on a bicycle trip we came across it. I guess they cater more to the surrounding businesses. I am glad I found it. For take out we ordered the Shanghai-Style Fried Pork Buns, Pork & Chinese Cabbage Dumplings, Fried Rice Noodles with Beef, and the Tofu & Vegetables Clay Pot. The fried pork buns still had some crispiness on the bottoms. Very juicy filling. The boiled dumplings were also good but less flavourful so we dipped them in some dark soy sauce and vinegar. I suggest skipping the malt vinegar they can give you and use Chinese vinegar. The rice noodles were bland and for the price I was expecting more beef. There were five pieces in total where I think there should have been double that. The Tofu was the surprise hit and ordered more just to get some vegetables in. Firm on the outside and soft on the inside, the tofu packed with flavour. There was a good amount of vegetables and the remaining sauce with delicious with the rice. We will definitely order this again when we try their other dishes. Daniel

Shanghai Dimsum House, located in the Crystal Mall food court in Richmond, offers a taste of authentic Shanghai cuisine. The long queues are a testament to the deliciousness of their offerings. Their menu is extensive, but the XLB dumplings with the perfect soup-to-pork ratio are highly recommended. The pan-fried buns are juicy and hot, so be cautious when biting into them. Despite the wait, the freshly made dishes and reasonable prices make it worth trying this family-run establishment.
Tried Combo A at Shanghai Dimsum House, which includes the Shanghai Style Mini Pork Buns (Xiao Long Bao) and Tofu Puff with Vermicelli Soup, plus an order of Shanghai Style Pan Fried Pork Buns on the side. Both types of pork buns were juicy and delicious—classic soup dumplings that can burst if you’re not careful! Best way to eat them: take a small bite, sip the soup inside, then enjoy the rest. A splash of red vinegar adds a nice touch of brightness if you like a bit more tang. The tofu puff vermicelli soup was light and comforting, a good balance to the richness of the buns. Overall, great value and satisfying flavours. Will definitely be back.

Delicious and authentic Shanghai dim sum! This spot is cash-only, but it’s absolutely worth it for the fresh and flavorful dishes. The dumplings are a standout—truly authentic and packed with flavor. While the noodles weren’t my favorite (the soup base leaned more toward a curry flavor and lacked depth), everything else was fantastic. Generous portions at a great price make this place a must-try for dim sum lovers!

the pan fried dumplings were SUPER full of juicy, flavourful, piping hot soup that it literally bursts the second you bite it. i absolutely LOVED how thick and also crispy and nicely textured the dough was, it wasn’t starchy but it also wasn’t thin. the dumpling was super hefty and large, and i totally thought i wouldn’t be full since there were only five, but it’s actually so filling. these are the best pan fried dumplings i’ve had in vancouver so far for sure. the beef roll on the other hand was a complete disappointment — i definitely do not recommend getting it because it’s basically not fried at all, the texture is horrible, it’s cold, and there’s barely any meat, sauce, or other filling inside. they’re smaller and super chewy in a bad way and nowhere near as good as the dumplings.

This place was recommended and boy oh boy was it a huge disappointment. Especially with how much money we spent here over 60.00. First it took about 30 minutes to get our food though there was numerous people working. Then when my girlfriend went to get the food and return the beeper the girl at the counter was very rude about the beeper. She wasn't this way with others and we presume it's cause my girlfriend isn't Asian as they were also ignoring other customers of non asian descent. Then open up and taste the Dan Dan noodles 🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮 No spice, no pork, no veggies straight peanut butter!! Dan Dan doesn't contain peanut butter peanuts yes. So, thick we threw it out!! We will never ever be back and will not recommend this place to anyone. Probably the worst food experience I've ever had 🤮🤮🤮🤮

Two of my xiao long baos leaked by the time I received my order. I was super hungry and figured this would make a good snack since I couldn't try this the last time I was here. The whole thing was just bland and the meat inside was kinda tough. Thankfully the sauces provided some flavour. Perhaps I ordered the wrong item and should have gotten the pan fried buns. Maybe next time...
Danielle R — Google review
The Xiao Long Baos were really good. The first thing I noticed was how sweet the broth was, so if you like that, you’ll enjoy these. The Pan Fried Pork Buns (Shengjian Bao) were good too, but I like the Xiao Long Bao more. If you get the chance, you might also see them folding the baos.

Highly not recommend They gave me xlb where the inside was not cooked. When I showed them they were like oh it’s fine… and I said it’s raw pork…. And they were not even apologetic and said we can make you a new one. I asked for money back and she was like wait a minute and then just left cash on the front and walked away…. I would recommend to go to Bao Yummy instead. Their xlb are way bigger, taste better and service is decent compared to here.

The OG XLB place in Crystal Mall. The dumplings are made from scratch, with nicely sized portions for today's prices. Juicy and flavourful with every bite, with the dough not being too tough or chewy. If I'm here and want a tasty snack, I always walk over to the end of the food court. I never even knew the name; to me, it was just the yellow stand at the end, but I always recommended it to anyone.

Shanghainese restaurant
Restaurant
Colour See See, located near Metrotown, is a Shanghai-style dim sum eatery that specializes in Shanghainese dumplings. Their Wonton Soup stands out with its rich broth and tender dumplings. The Crab & Pork Panfried Bun is another must-try dish, featuring a crispy exterior and flavorful filling. This lovely restaurant has gained a reputation for consistently delicious food, evident from the many satisfied customers who have visited multiple times.
Pretty good and quite authentic Shanghai snacks. I especially recommend the pan-fried buns and steamed soup buns.

Good Shanghainese dim sum for lunch here. Soup dumplings, fried dumplings and wonton were all decent. The glutinous rice dumpling was slightly undercooked, as the wrapping was still raw. Reasonable priced.
Kingramen — Google review
The soup dumplings, pan-fried buns, and small wontons here are as consistently delicious as ever. The dumplings have a generous amount of filling and thin, delicate wrappers that showcase the skill of the kitchen. The flavors are rich and satisfying, perfectly capturing the essence of authentic Shanghai cuisine. The prices are very reasonable, especially considering the quality of the food, making it a great choice for anyone craving a taste of Shanghai. Among the many options in Vancouver, this place stands out as one of the most authentic spots for traditional Shanghai-style snacks.

Ended up coming back here a second time with my girlfriend as she has been a regular here since a while. Ended up being served uncooked pork inside my pan bao. When we told them about it, they started arguing with us nonstop, ignored us and said they could microwave it for us. Never coming back here again. Very rude behaviour. Normally they behave very sweet and after them arguing with us over the pink uncooked meat we want to stay away from getting sick.

Most fav xlb place in Burnaby. Limited menu but all done with perfection and made to order with pride. One visit our spring rolls were delivered to our table by an elderly cook who spoke to us in mandarin (which we couldn't understand) apologizing that they were not perfect so it was discounted 50% (waitress translated). How sweet! This establishment has limited staff who speak English so please be patient. The simple menus on the table offers English and chinese versions where you tick off what you want to order then hand to server. Seating is very limited so try to visit off peaks times. Food is super fresh and tasty!
D D — Google review
I think the panfried buns and siulongbao steamed juicy buns are overrated. It’s fresh and good flavour but not enough juice inside, and not enough meat flavours. Portion is small too. They should expand their menu selection. Limited selection. I prefer the Shanghai food in Crystal Mall foodcourt more.
Cathy T — Google review
I’ve been trying to give this place a try for a long time. Between the limited hours of operations and my busy work life, it’s been long awaited to get here. I personally love XLB so this was a must try spot for me since many have told me I had to try it. Quality - the food is all made fresh as you order. So this also means you don’t want to visit here if you are in a rush. You should expect a 20MIN wait before food Is presented to you upon sitting down. The food quality is well made overall. The pan fried buns were a tad more burnt than I’d like personally and the XLB flavour is not my preference. But it doesn’t takeaway from how well they are made which is why I still give it a 4 star even if the flavours aren’t my preference. Service - the staff overall were all friendly and attentive. No issues at all with how they were. But for those who want speed, this place is not it. They even have a sign to pre-warn you. (I was okay with saying as I wasn’t super hungry) Cleanliness - The restaurant was fairly clean considering the age of the space. Overall I think people in the area should give it a try if they are open. But i personally have other favorite places in town out of just sheer flavour.

Miss these food for a long time, taste like backing home. Fresh make with hot, juicy sauce exploding in your mouth, we finished braised wheat gluten very fast so tasty. All buns and potstickers are making fresh so it will take time to wait.

Cantonese restaurant
Lido Restaurant, located at 4231 Hazelbridge Way, is a popular spot known for its traditional Hong Kong-style fare. One of its specialties is the famous Pineapple Buns, which are in high demand and often sell out quickly. These dome-shaped buns, called bo lo bao in Cantonese, are a beloved part of Hong Kong's culinary heritage and are typically enjoyed for breakfast or afternoon tea.
We tried the pineapple bun with butter at the restaurant, and it was wonderfully soft and fluffy, with a rich buttery aroma that made it especially enjoyable. As for the yin-yang drink, the flavor was just average — it wasn’t particularly memorable, but still a decent option if you like that combination of coffee and milk tea.
Foodie V — Google review
Star of the show is the pineapple bun with butter. But they have all the HK cafe staples and do an excellent job. Try to come here during non-peak hours, otherwise be prepared for a decent wait (1 hour is not unheard of). Food: tasty, authentic, and fair portion. Service: abrupt, but I always gotten what I needed. Food arrives decently quick. But eat and get out - type of vibe. Atmosphere: don’t come for the atmosphere, come here for the food. Delicious food. Actually it’s not that bad, I don’t mind it for what it is.
Joyce H — Google review
4/5 4 points for the pineapple bun, crispy outside, fluffy light inside. If the butter was kept nicer which doesn’t taste like fridge would be perfect. Rice roll wrapped deep fried pastry is really not on standard. Rice roll too thick, pastry not crispy at all. Milk tea was okay.
無雙皇后Queen B — Google review
A good place to have traditional HK style tea house food. The food and prices were fine. The table was very small to fit 4 people, and one of us accidentally spilled the hot tea drink. They also only accept cash which is very inconvenient.
Isabella B — Google review
CASH ONLY. Immediate minus point. This restaurant was overall not it. Very disappointing. I have high expectations for any cantonese place in Richmond. Look at the beef noodle we received - all noodles stuck together. Duck was ok. Borsch did not have good flavor. The pineapple bun looked disappointing - but at least it tasted good. The only item i could recommend here.
Anton S — Google review
Haven't been here in ages decided to give them a shot. Was the 4th party (4) on waitlist with no other party behind. Somehow they still manage to screw up the waitlist and gave 3 other parties before me the same queue number. So everyone got confused. Ordered a beef innards noodle soup and a beef brisket/tendon noodle soup $19 each, portion is not great for the cost. Pineapple bun $3.70 (without butter) and a rice roll (plain) $13, pricing is more on the high side considering the food is nothing special. Pineapple bun is all hype taste like any other hk cafe. Will not be going back there again.
S C — Google review
First time trying this place. It's a small cafe and does not accept reservations so if the place is full you need to line up outside. If necessary you have to share a table with other customers to enjoy their food. Lots of choices on the menu for a small cafe. Their best seller is the pineapple bun with butter and the Portuguese pie. We tried the Singaporean fried noodles, not good but I loved the pineapple buns. They specialized in Cantonese cuisine. Food is more expensive by 20% from another restaurant nearby. Service is good but they accept only cash not even debit cards. Parking is free.
Bernie — Google review
Aside from the pineapple bun I don’t know what the draw is for this place. Came for Hong Kong style breakfast. The pineapple bun is exceptional. Super light and fluffy. The Hong Kong style french toast was also pretty good. The breakfast is just store bought luncheon meets and spam with basic scrambled eggs. Eggs were dry and plain. By the time you add a pineapple bun and get an iced drink, the breakfast combo is about $25. The prices are way overpriced for food you can make at home in 4 minutes. You can go get a much better egg benny type breakfast for that money. Super disappointed. The rice rolls were plain with soy sauce only. No sesame or peanut sauce. No sweet/hoisin sauce. With so many new Hong Kong style cafes opening up, Lido is behind the times. Read some reviews that the afternoon tea menu is where the value is at. Maybe we came at the wrong time, but judging from the food we got, there isn't a good time to come. Will just buy pineapple buns to go.

Chinese restaurant
Located in Richmond, Mui Garden Restaurant is a popular spot known for its delicious curry noodle soup. The Portuguese-influenced curry is thick and rich with coconut milk and aromatic flavors, served with tender braised brisket and Chinese broccoli over flat rice noodles. The restaurant's cash-only policy may be a surprise to some, but they do accept American debit cards. Despite being frequented by an ethnic crowd, the staff is accommodating to English-speaking patrons.
We ordered two ppl set with chicken. Their chicken is really tender. All the portion is large. They offered dessert for everyone even we only ordered two ppl set with four ppl sharing. Will definitely revisit
Cindy — Google review
One of my go to's for Chinese food, especially for dinner (lunch is good too). Prices are reasonable .. 4 dishes, soup, 1 barrel of rice, and Chinese dessert for $88 is great. Portions are a little smaller, but if you don't eat a lot, it's sufficient. They're famous for their curry beef brisket and tendon, and Hainan chicken. The skewers are tasty as well. They take debit without extra charge so that's nice. Make sure to reserve before hand, or you may not get a table, especially on weekends. Main issue here is parking. While there's parking in front and up the ramp, the spots are limited given the size of the restaurant, and they are very cramped.

Absolutely the best Malaysian style curry beef brisket - it’s so addictive!! This is my go to, but their menu is vast and solid. The beef brisket is melt in your mouth tender, sauce is rich, creamy and can’t be replicated. Service is friendly and prompt. It does help if you speak the language and are accustomed to this style of service. This time the server complimented on how well my kid was eating and seemed to enjoy the food - she was correct. Atmosphere: clean, booths are comfy even if a bit dated. I come for the food. Overall: I keep dreaming about the curry beef brisket and hope to never have to live without it.

Been coming to Mui Garden for many years but mostly at their Vancouver and Burnaby locations. Came to this Richmond location as my wife saw they had this HK Milk Tea promo on Youtube that was supposingly really good and was like the ones in Hong Kong. So we ordered: 1. All Day Set Menu - Beef Brisket Curry on Rice (add $1 for the HK Milk Tea). The best dish for this restaurant as the curry is not the spicy version but thick and creamy. Each bite is heavenly. 2. Peanut & Spicy Sauce in Noodle w/ Deep Fried Chicken Wings. My wife thought this was the wonton noodles (homemade) but it's another type so a little disappointed. The funny thing is the HK Milk Tea took the longest and was the last thing served as they made it fresh and takes a while to make. Honestly I wasn't wowed by the drink but it was still pretty good compared to a lot of other HK-style restaurants/cafes. The owner was there too and was a very nice lady. The only big issue is the parking as it isn't a lot and pretty hard to find parking for this popular place. However we will be coming back again to try other dishes.

Hands-down, this place has the best curry beef brisket. Food comes fast too! They only accept cash or debit, so make sure you are not just relying on your credit card.

Generous portions, good food. The Hainan chicken's skin was perfect. Oil rice is great. Curry beef brisket is super flavourful. Very satisfied. Their take-out boxes are very nice and sturdy plastic ones so I wasn't worried about spilling.

Unique curry beef brisket 😍 , my family loves it! Hainan chic rice n fried calamari 💯💯. Visit always.
Bonnie L — Google review
Curry beef rice tastes good but size in mini meal in size and rice is just warm. Price is $20.5 a little pricey in regard to its size. Black bean chicken rice is little salty. Dish size is better and rice is hot enough. Drinks and 2nd dish come late. We have finished the first dish but drinks come when we ask after the first dish. We go about 3:30pm and find very few customers which is about 3 tables and 6 customers. There are no afternoon meal menu for rice and noodle which is unexpected. Service is not good enough especially for the time so quiet. Only one menu is given when we have 3 persons dining in. We need to take additional menu ourselves. The waitress is hanging around and look busy for nothing more important than customer. When we're ready to pay bill, she just walks away without standing closed to us and say thank-you at all till we walks out the door. Parking driveway is very narrow in only one direction. We cannot drive through as there is long pickup truck parked beside us. We have to drive another direction to exit the driveway. Parking is limited and should be not enough if busy.

Royal Palace Seafood Restaurant is a spacious Chinese restaurant known for its seafood and fish dishes. It's a popular spot for large gatherings and celebrations, offering attentive and professional service even during busy times. The food is well-presented, delicious, and reasonably priced, with some standout dishes like the Pork Ribs on rice. While some items may need improvement, overall it's a favorite among families for both dim sum and dinner due to its relaxed atmosphere and tasty offerings.
All of the serving staff was great today. The young slender male waiter provided exceptional service. Made sure we didn't order too much. We ordered the Peking duck + 2 items, 2 bowls of white rice and Crab Meat with Fish Maw Soup. Chef's Specialty Soup Of The Day. Oops, I forgot to take a photo of it before it was served. It was super tasty and had a lot of ingredients. Sauteed Prawns & Scallops with Greens. Deep Fried Pork Chops W/Salted Plum Sauce was made perfectly! Wished it had more pieces of plum though. The peking duck was sliced into small pieces. It was to be eating with the thin crepe. Then the meat that was left on the duck was used to make the lettuce wrap which had duck meat, water chestnut, green onion and crispy wonton wrap pieces. Tasty! Dessert was green bean dessert and almond cookies.

Attended a group dinner in one of their private rooms with about 15 people total. Some of our group arrived several hours early and played mahjong and sung karaoke before the rest of the group arrived for dinner. We ordered about a dozen of the most popular dishes to share and all were freshly cooked, tasty and decent sized servings. Everyone ate well and still had some left over. It worked out to less than $40 per person for over 5 hours use of this private room and a very good meal. Definitely a good value. Only minor complaint was the loudness of the Karaoke music machine. We wanted to have some background music during the meal, but the lowest volume setting was still far too loud.

Made reservations to have dim sum on the weekend but had to wait about 25 minutes to get a table despite larger ones available. There are plenty of dim sum options here. The fried rice and fried noodle dish portions were generous. The soya sauce chicken was fresh and tasty. My favourite was an eggplant and green bean with soya sauce dish. This chairs were comfortable Free parking available in the back lot but limited to about <20 spots.

I came here for dinner after having dimsum a couple of weeks ago. At dimsum If your bill was over $100 they give u a receipt to get a free chicken at dinner. I came with my family on a Monday night and the place was packed. We opted to try their Peking duck combo with 5 additional dishes for $230. For Vancouver prices i thought that was a steal. Portions were pretty large and alot of dishes had to be packed. Their soy sauce chicken is usually really good but I forgot to preorder when I made the reservation so they gave us a steamed chicken instead. Older folks usually enjoy this more. The sweet and sour pork jowl was the highlight for me. Crispy on the outside and soft on inside with the sauce spot on with flavor. After ordering I noticed their king crab 3 ways was selling at just $368. Next time I would just order that with fewer ppl eating. As for service...I thought they were shorthanded but that is normal for most chinese restaurants.

We stumbled upon this restaurant on YouTube so we weren’t too sure what to expect. As foodies, we’re a tad particular. However, all 6 of us were blown away by the quality and service. The flavours were so good. Every single dish was better than what we expected. We’ll definitely return.
Cindy — Google review
Maybe the 5 stars is an over exaggeration but also maybe not - for the price, quality and quantity of food, this place is a winner for sure. Our group of 4 came here after seeing it was always busy and the parking lot was full even on weekdays. This place is a typical Chinese banquet hall that looks like they do dim sum on weekends and feels like it could even host a small wedding - and a smaller 6 table room in a different area of the restaurant. The menu was expansive, as expected, but the dinner combos really caught our eye. We ordered the lobster combo, which came with five other dishes for a price that honestly felt like a steal of a deal. The seafood vermicelli was the real crowd-pleaser. If I had to rate the dishes, it would be the following: 1. Seafood vermicelli (very flavourful and not dry) 2. Sweet and sour pork (crispy and meaty) 3. Ground pork and eggplant (saucy and big portions) 4. Beef and Gailan (a staple and really good - I've been to places where the gailan is bitter and chewy because they kept the ends on - this place cut it off at the right spots and the dish was good) 5. Lobster with sticky rice (This one is a personal preference but I like fluffy rice and more of a crab person) 6. Soy glazed chicken (This one is the bottom on my list but in no way a bad choice, I just liked the others above this) Service was smooth. One of our group spoke Cantonese, but the staff's English was spot-on, so no translation needed. They kept things moving and didn't miss a beat. The meal kicked off with a soup and wrapped up with a dessert--both not in the pictures but both very appreciated. With places like this - with such an expansive menu, I feel like its hard to go wrong, but there are some key winners that would change some people's opinions from a 3- or 4- star review to a 5, so definitely check out the ones I listed above!

Our church comes here every Sunday and food always excellent for dim sum. We always order at least 10 dishes. Price is very good and average about $17 when we share the cost with group members. Waitress Mary is very attentive and friendly. Came here with friends recently and enjoyed noodles, rice rolls and congee. Huge portions enough for leftovers and another meal next day. Went again Sunday and enjoyed walnut bun dessert. Went again last week with friends and relatives and enjoyed noodles, siu mai, rice rolls, steamed buns. Brother said he would come again with friends. Came with brothers today and enjoyed spring rolls, beef balls, and vermicelli with beef and bitter melon

Chinese takeaway
Blnd Tger Dumplings is a trendy restaurant in Vancouver with an industrial-style setting that offers a laid-back atmosphere. It's a recent addition to the city's dim sum scene, offering locally-sourced takeout style dumplings with interesting flavors, including vegan options. The restaurant also features a speakeasy bar with a cozy and intimate atmosphere, low lighting, and comfortable seating.
🌟 A place that truly deserves more love! I came here with my boyfriend and we were absolutely blown away 💫 The atmosphere is magical — dim lighting, birds floating above, shadow play on the walls, and every interior detail feels like it tells a story. It’s the kind of place where you want to stay for hours, have deep conversations, and just enjoy the moment. Special love goes to the cocktail menu — it’s not just stylish, it’s inspired by Chinese inventors! From clocks and symbols to thoughtful drink names, everything adds to the storytelling vibe. We tried several cocktails and each one was incredibly tasty, with unexpected but perfectly balanced flavours. You can tell real creativity and heart went into crafting them. 🔮 This place isn’t about a typical bar crowd — it’s about the experience. The mood. The immersion. Highly recommend coming here in the evening to soak in the vibe and just be. Hope more people discover this gem 💛

Really cool that we finally have a speakeasy here in Vancouver! I arrived first out of my party and thought it was hilarious how the front server at blnd tgr didn't want to let me into the back that easily. Apparently you have to order something special off the menu ;) Once you do make it inside you'll be shocked at how long and large the interior is. The decor and lighting is dark with a nice ambience. Server super nice. Loved the drink menu concept and how each cocktail was part of a different story. The food is best to be shared (there were four of us) and we ordered several things. I would definitely stay away from the the xiao long bao: the dumplings were extremely tiny and had no soup so I do not recommend! The pork belly was our favorite thing on the menu because it was soft and fatty in all the right places. Covered and cooked in yummy sauce. The drunken chicken was another favorite as well. The meat was soft and poached perfectly. I enjoyed the noodles but my coworkers found it too spicy. The fried fish was delicious but again, on the smaller side. While I was waiting for my friends, I had the bison momo dumplings. They were good but nothing special. I thought that they were covered in way too much spicy topping. Overall, the place is a cool concept and great for drinks and the experience. The food menu could use some tweaking so I wouldn't come here expecting to be full and satisfied.

We really enjoyed the speakeasy. It was fun. Great vegetarian options for the dumplings. Cool design and atmosphere. The Stinky Tofu was delish. Cocktails were excellent. Great place to stop before seeing a concert at the Rickshaw.

We watched several groups arrive and be seated while we waited for half an hour. While the bartender up front was very nice and apologetic, and explained that some young kid had arranged it so he could keep adding to his table. It's a poor explanation and an even poorer management practice if you're allowing your tables to arbitrarily add guests when there are other tables waiting. We ended up leaving because there's no way this place warranted this kind of wait. After reading the rest of the reviews it looks like we dodged a bullet. If this is the experience before we even sit down, we aren't missing much.
C Z — Google review
Had date night here and it was a cute spot. Compared to other newer establishments in the area the price is on par but if you compare it to the older, more established places then it is pricy. The store front is very non-descript so you might miss it and there is only 6 options on the menu unless you order the number 7, then a few more open up. Dumplings are good but you are really there for the drinks with the number 7.
Em S — Google review
Let me start off by saying that I really wanted to love this place. There are not many unique and interesting concept bars/restaurants in Vancouver and Vancouver area and when I heard about this one, I had high hopes. I love the idea of the speakeasy Laowei bar behind the Blnd Tiger Dumpling place. Once you pass the door into Laowei, it feels like you are somewhere in Asia. The interior of the bar is beautiful, tasteful and definitely a stunner. So if you come for that and the live music they have on some nights, you’re in for a treat. Let’s talk about food and drinks. I would say everything was okay, nothing truly outstanding. All the drinks were very unique and I loved to read about the inspiration behind them. Some were overly sweet, some overly herbaceous. One of the drinks we ordered (crane of the snake I believe) was just very strange and so we had to sent it back (all four of us didn’t like it). The food was tasty, but none of the dishes stood out. Not sure if this was an ‘off’ night for them, but there was literally zero soup in the XLB (aka soup dumplings)… You can get better and a way bigger portion for a lot less money around town. Service was also fine, but nothing stood out to us/no special touches, which I would expect when paying this high price.

I didn’t know there was a speakeasy in Chinatown! So fun to learn the “off menu” order to access the lounge. Staff was great. Very friendly. We had pork dumplings and bison dumplings. Both delicious but my favourite was pork. The ambience is chic-Asian. They have a unique cocktail menu that details the inspiration behind each drink and (if true) teaches patrons a bit about Chinese history and culture. Very cool place. I’ll be back to this comfy lounge.

Continental Coffee is a popular spot known for its great coffee and cozy atmosphere. The interior is spacious with ample natural light, featuring a communal table and smaller ones scattered around. In addition to their fantastic coffee, they also serve exceptional hot chocolate and unique savory pastries. While some visitors have experienced minor service hiccups, the staff are generally friendly and accommodating. The breakfast sandwiches are highly recommended, and the overall ambiance makes it a lovely place to socialize or work without loud distractions.
I noticed this place pop up on commercial, which is renowned for its coffee environment, and amazing vibes, wanted to try the local roast. Uniquely refreshing and not overpowering espresso used in lattes and cappuccino, etc.

Best owners and best staff and best coffee of any place in Vancouver. No frills, no gimmicks, just incredible coffee that speaks for itself. And staff that remember your drink and how you like it. I’ll never stray from this place. They’re #1 for coffee.

Was only given 6lbs of coffee after paying for 8lbs. Coming from out of town, I came to continental coffee to get some beans for a friend who asked me to pick up some beans for her. Upon returning home though, I measured the total weight of the bags and was only given 6lbs of beans… I know this is a probably an honest mistake but I even confirmed with the server that it was 8lbs of beans when I picked it up. I would recommend confirming the weight of the beans they give you on a scale before leaving.

The coffee and the servers make this place what it is. The chairs are not quite comfy. The noise level is intense at times. Outside seems to attract a roster of chain smoking bums who don’t consume anything and fill the air with second hand smoke. It’s the Drive, man, and you wouldn’t have a coffee and a chat anywhere else. Did I mention the cool cat servers?

I haven’t been here in years. My coffee and muffin were delicious, and I had a great table. The man serving me wouldn’t say one word that wasn’t necessary and wouldn’t even look me in the eye. It was really weird.

I'm in Vancouver to ride the North Shore and always go on a mission to find a great coffee shop. Found one! I really like this place. The guy that has been in here the past couple days(owner?) is great, remembering me the next day, which goes a long way with me. Oh and the coffee/food is great! There is a Starbucks accross the street. I happily go here instead.

Upon my first visit here it looked like a good place to have a cup of coffee with a friend so we could catch and talk. This place was perfect for that but I don’t know if our server at the time was having a bad day but she forgot what we ordered twice and got it wrong in the end. So that was a little annoying considering we just ordered a cookie with a drink. On top of that having to grab our orders when they were ready not big of a deal but it would add to the appeal if customers didn’t have to do that. I don’t think I would come here again based on my initial experience but I wouldn’t oppose to coming back if someone else wanted to come here.
