Fort Henry National Historic Site is a captivating glimpse into 19th-century military life, nestled at the confluence of Lake Ontario and the St. Lawrence River. This restored British fortification, built between 1832 and 1840, showcases impressive limestone structures that served as a defensive stronghold. Visitors can immerse themselves in history through guided tours or explore independently while enjoying engaging daily activities like flag ceremonies, cannon firings, and musical performances.
A very well maintained national historic site to learn about Canadian history and its military past. We spent around a couple of hours exploring the fort thoroughly. There are several restaurants, cafés, and a collectibles shop inside the fort. Along with the historic structures, everyday items from the past, and specific sections dedicated to different purposes, visitors can also enjoy live performances and drills. They’re informative and interesting to experience. Though we didn’t opt for it, one can also sign up for archery and rifle classes, which look very interesting. Even though it was a public holiday, finding a parking spot wasn’t an issue for us. And the views from the top are fantastic too!

Fabulous place to head up to watch the sunset. We went on the haunted walk at night which was relatively cool except we had a young person as part of the tour maybe 10 or 11 years old who didn't follow any of the rules repeatedly made noise and Flash their flashlight which really ruined the ambience and the parents weren't doing much about it. Lots of cool spiders though!
Julia W — Google review
Good place for half day trip. Although, entry ticket is high compared to fort size and being national heritage size. Many restaurants inside the fort. Fort itself is well maintained and you can get free tour guide who explains different areas. Good collection of old guns, swords and some old cannons. Actors performing soldiers are very good and take their parts very active and seriously. They have good performances going on entire day which includes canon firing and gun firings. Overall good walk around the fort.
Nihar — Google review
Amazing history and a wonderful tour! We watched the guards marching and rehearsing, and they demonstrated the use of musical instruments, signals, and drums — we even had a chance to play the drums ourselves. The guards also demonstrated the firing of guns. The fort has many rooms on display, and the gift shop offers freshly baked bread from an on‑site oven. It was a very educational and memorable experience!
Judy H — Google review
Fort Henry was such a cool experience! The historic atmosphere, the costumed guides, and the live demonstrations (like the cannon firing and marching) really brought history to life. Great views over the lake and Kingston too. It’s fun for both adults and kids – especially the museum section and the tunnels. Totally worth the visit if you're anywhere near Kingston!
Amir K — Google review
A fantastic experience that is well worth the visit. Tickets are a little pricy but its made up for with fantastic staff that are all very knowledgeable about the fort and the history of it plus the live drills they perform. On top of this the views offered from the fort are breathtaking. I'd argue this is thee place to visit for anything historical about Kingston if you only had one place you could visit, this would be the one I would choose hands down.
Patrick B — Google review
To be fair before I begin, when we visited we were in the middle of a crazy hot period in the summer (heat warnings were in place) and a lot of Fort Henry is open and exposed, so our enjoyment may have been muted a little bit. Aside from the heat however, the tour and experience was very satisfying. The guided tour was somewhat informative although our guide seemed a little newer as he didn’t have answers for all questions asked. The costumed staff were a nice touch, however more context on who they were or what their function was during the period was would have been nice. Bistro and shops seemed out of place and not fitting with the historical significance of the Fort which detracted from the visit. More information and context would have been nice.
Eric C — Google review
This was first time back at Fort Henry since I was a kid back in 1996. The fort still looks the same. This was also my family’s first time visiting. We did the guided tour & the guide was a young lady who I can’t remember her name was so very knowledgeable, took time explaining everything in simple terms for the kids to understand. Only downside was the group was very large so it was a bit hard to hear her voice & see some of the places inside the fort. The canon firing was awesome to see & so was the other demonstrations & the final drum parade was amazing. One other thing the guide or the ticket agent didn’t mention was to stay off the canons so don’t climb on them or you will get yelled at by the staff as it happened to a few people.

Kingston Penitentiary, a renowned maximum-security prison operational from 1830 to 2013, offers tours led by former guards. Visitors can also explore the city of Kingston on charming red trolleys that cover historic sites and share interesting facts about the area's history. The Friends of the Penitentiary Museum are committed to preserving and interpreting Canada's federal penitentiary system's captivating history.
What a great tour and learning experience. Our guide on August 25th 2025 at 2 pm for the extended tour, was absolutely amazing. She’s been there for 7 months and knew so much information and was able to answer so many questions. So professional and so friendly. She even took the time to explain certain areas which were not available for tourists. Do the extended tour much more to see. Definitely worth it!!!

We signed up for the 1.5 hour tour and had Adam as our tour guide. He was outstanding…enthusiastic, informative, inclusive and engaging. Loved his stories. A perfect voice for a tour guide and so glad that he addressed some of the injustices related to the correctional system of Canada, particularly related to the Indigenous population and those with mental health issues. The four former staff who shared a little about their experience were intriguing…Erich we had longer with them. The tour felt a little rushed…perhaps it should be a two-hour tour. People had to move quickly to keep up. There wasn’t really time for questions of either Adam or the former staff. We also wish we had made time to visit the museum across the road first as it would have enhanced the experience. It is free (donation requested). I also think that it would be good if the organization that runs this experience would have some exhibits to look at or a video…outlining the history of the correction system and how it evolved over the period the penitentiary was open, up until today. Maybe even have a section about how countries all over the world address crime, imprisonment and rehabilitation. It would really help inform the general public about these important topics.

The Express Tour was amazing, the 45 minutes just flew by. After seeing the size of the compound and all the different buildings I'm getting the longer tours would be even better; something to do on my next visit. Our guide Julian and the other security guard (unsure of his name) were both really friendly, knowledgeable, and easy to talk with. If you're interested in the history or location then this is certainly something you shouldn't pass up. Had a great time.

As a former Correctional Officer, I was very interested to see this iconic piece of Canadian history first hand. The tour was excellent as our guide was very knowledgeable. We also spoke with several Correctional Officers who actually worked here. They had interesting stories to tell and were happy to answer our many questions. This tour is a must-see if you are ever in Kingston!

I had the pleasure of attending the extended tour guided by Adam. He was incredibly knowledgeable and very humorous, making the experience more interesting but also light-hearted. As someone that grew up in the area and had relatives that worked in KP as well as surrounding penitentiarys, it was really amazing to walk the grounds and hear more indepth recounts. I will definitely recommend 👌

Highly recommend! We did the extended tour. Well worth the time and it flew by. Our tour guide David was amazing and knowledgeable. So much history. An incredible adventure indeed!

Amazing experience with our tour guide Sam! She was very engaging and it was interesting to hear all the stories and see how the corrections system worked in the past. It is truly a unique experience and we got to learn that many shows and movies were filmed here too. Highly recommend visiting!!
Berna S — Google review
I highly recommend the Kingston Penitentiary tour! We opted to take the 1.5-hour tour with our guide, William, and the experience was both fascinating and well-planned. A major highlight for me was discovering how accessible the entire tour is. I use a mobility scooter and had no trouble navigating around the various buildings. The convenience of nearby, free accessible parking was also a huge plus. William was a phenomenal guide, full of information and great stories. What made the tour even more special was meeting former prison guards who shared their firsthand experiences, adding a layer of authenticity you can't get from a textbook.

First time visiting downtown Kingston.. clean and lots of parking along streets, free after 5pm. Boat cruises line the port, many hotels with great views to choose from, unfortunately many geese and litter from them on the grassy parts. Most stores close at 5p, only restaurants, bars, ice cream shops open till late. Starbucks closes at 8:30p..

The place is always alive!! Day or night, you can enjoy a walk, sometime entertainment during the day, a sandwich by the water or refined dining in very tasty restaurants..cafe trottoir…fast food.. its such a nice place with lots of history and stories to be told

Downtown Kingston is such a great place to explore. The historic limestone buildings give it a lot of charm, and the whole area is very walkable. Princess Street is full of restaurants, cafés, and shops, so there’s always something new to try. The waterfront is just steps away and makes for a perfect spot to relax or take photos, especially at sunset. The vibe is lively but still comfortable — summer patios, street festivals, and markets make it feel fun and welcoming, while in winter the lights and seasonal events keep it cozy. There’s a good mix of local businesses and familiar spots, so you can find everything from unique boutiques to casual eats and fine dining. Parking can be a bit tricky at busy times, but overall Downtown Kingston is vibrant, scenic, and definitely worth visiting.

Nestled in the charming city of Kingston, Ontario, Queen's University boasts a rich history that dates back to 1841. As one of Canada's oldest and most esteemed institutions, it offers an impressive array of undergraduate and graduate programs across various fields, particularly excelling in engineering and business. The vibrant campus is not only a hub for academic excellence but also a lively community where students engage in numerous events and performances.
A Truly Exceptional Learning Experience As a student at Queen’s University, I can confidently say that it has been an incredible journey so far. The university’s academic environment is both challenging and rewarding, encouraging students to think critically and push their intellectual boundaries. Professors here are not only knowledgeable but also genuinely invested in students’ success, offering support and guidance. I love being part of this family ❤️

One of the best campus I have ever seen. Most of the places in Kingston belongs to Queen’s university. The buildings are stone buildings and so nice to see it. Literally looks like England. Felt it was a different place in Canada. Must place to visit if you are interested in architecture. They have many halls and departments which looks so amazing!
Richard H — Google review
Queen’s University’s campus is absolutely remarkable. Every academic building exudes cultural depth, and the historical legacy gives the entire university a sense of calm sophistication. Among all the universities I’ve visited, this campus is by far my favorite—rich in character, inspiring, and full of meaning.

Recommend booking a guided tour! Apparently the exterior of all the buildings went through renovations this year! This university is centrally located in downtown Kingston, close to city centre, harbor and the Kingston general hospital. The whole campus covers such a massive area which makes me feel like it is a city within a city!
Ashley W — Google review
Finally, we are glad to see many happy and excited young faces in the campus after one and half year's lockdown. Forget the tough and boring online learning, enjoy your university life again everyone! The architecture and history make it one of the most attractive universities in Canada. The once Canada's capital, Kingston, adds another layer of beauty with cultural and natural charm.

Restaurant
Chez Piggy Restaurant & Bar is a globally inspired dining spot housed in a former limestone stable, offering an outdoor dining space for patrons. The culinary expertise of the team, led by Stev who is a graduate of the Stratford Chefs School, brings forth a diverse menu with options for alternative diets such as vegan and gluten-free dishes. Known for its sustainable seafood offerings and relaxed atmosphere, this family-owned establishment has been a staple in Kingston's culinary scene for over 40 years.
Very nice restaurant in an old limestone stable with a turn of the century tavern feel. Loved the location of this restaurant. The main entrance is tucked away through a small alley where you're met with the patio and little garden area. The staff were very friendly and accommodating with our group of 10. We had tried to make reservations for the patio. Unfortunately, due to our party size and it being a Saturday, we settled for indoors. Really enjoyed the upper seating area and the decor. Food was excellent and cooked to perfection. They also have their own beer that was local and very refreshing.
KG82 — Google review
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Chez Piggy in Kingston, and overall, the experience was fantastic with just a few minor areas for improvement. Firstly, the atmosphere here is truly special—warm, cozy, and inviting, creating the perfect setting whether you’re dining out with friends, family, or on a special date. From the moment you step inside, you sense that it’s a place with history and character, making it easy to relax and enjoy your meal. The highlight of my visit was undoubtedly the food itself. Every dish we ordered was beautifully presented, perfectly cooked, and bursting with flavor. The oysters, in particular, were outstanding—fresh, juicy, briny, and honestly some of the best I’ve ever had. If you’re a seafood lover, these oysters alone justify a visit. The menu offers an impressive range of dishes, blending creativity with familiar comforts, and each item we tried surpassed expectations. However, one area where Chez Piggy could improve significantly is in the quality of their service. While the staff weren’t unfriendly, our server seemed a bit inattentive and disengaged at times. It felt like we were waiting longer than necessary between courses, and there was a notable lack of attentiveness, especially considering how excellent everything else was. Given the overall quality of the dining experience, it’s clear that the restaurant would greatly benefit from enhanced staff training and a more attentive service approach. Despite this, the incredible quality of the food and charming atmosphere ultimately overshadowed the service shortcomings. I genuinely enjoyed my time at Chez Piggy, and with just a bit more attention to detail in service, this could easily be one of the top dining experiences in Kingston. Overall, I highly recommend checking out Chez Piggy for their exceptional oysters and thoughtfully prepared dishes. Just go prepared for a possibly slower pace of service. I’m optimistic that with improved service standards, Chez Piggy could easily become the go-to spot in Kingston for a truly memorable dining experience.

We ate here because of the ambiance in the alley the restaurants are in, which is really cool and somewhat romantic. We chose this restaurant because they are dog friendly and let me tell you, they were they friendly. Service was excellent and the food was very good. It's a little pricey however it's the tourist area of Kingston so most restaurants are. Really enjoyed eating here, I highly recommend it.

wonderful brunch, huge portions holy flip super worth the price imo, $24 for both big plates. my chilaquiles had a good amount of steak and the chips were perfectly salty. the whole hog breakfast was also loaded with different meat options and lots of home fries. also got a kids blueberry pancake bcuz we wanted smth sweet and it was delish

It was ok. Server was great. Nice guy, older cool guy. Knew the menu very well. Great recommendations. Salads were kind of wilted Steak was thin, well cooked but unseasoned. Roast vegetables were kind of the bottom of the roast pan scraps. Pasta was average. There are much better places for similar budget in Kingston. I won’t go back anytime soon.
Crabby E — Google review
The ideas behind the menu items are awesome - definitely one of the more creative brunch menus in Kingston. That being said, it didn't quite hit that 10/10 sweet spot youre looking for. Absolutely solid, but there are higher highs to hit! The restaurant itself is wonderful, physically and spiritually. Top class service too. Definitely hit it up if you've got cash to burn in kingston!

Set in a beautifully restored 1806 limestone stable, Chez Piggy radiates rustic charm blended with contemporary flair. The cozy courtyard patio—often dappled with sunlight—offers relaxed al fresco dining, and is notably pet‑friendly. Inside, the upstairs dining room is bright and airy, with evocative artwork, warm wood tones, and exposed stone walls. The Service and food was excellent. We ordered the Chefs Specials for the day that did not disappoint. On a final note, If you're visiting Kingston and seeking a dining experience that mixes character, creativity, and comfort with reliable service—and don't mind paying a bit for it—Chez Piggy is a top choice. It’s particularly strong for date nights, brunches, or memorable meals with friends or family. I'd recommend: Book ahead, especially for weekend evenings or patio seating.
Antonio F — Google review
We enjoyed our dinner at Chez Piggy. Our waiter was very attentive, and the atmosphere was wonderful. The food service was on the slower side. We waited 25 minutes between our appetizer and main dishes. I ordered the dinner special—the duck breast—which was overcooked… a bit chewy and somewhat difficult to cut. I didn’t review the bill closely until I got home and noticed a $5 charge listed as “included tax.” It’s not a big deal, but normally I would ask the restaurant about such charges. This time I didn’t (my oversight), so I searched online to see what it might be, but couldn’t find a clear answer. Just a heads-up—if you visit this restaurant, check your bill carefully and clarify any extra charges before you pay.

AquaTerra is an upscale restaurant located in the Delta Kingston Waterfront Hotel, offering a sophisticated dining experience with picturesque water views. The restaurant prides itself on using fresh, locally-sourced ingredients to create innovative dishes for breakfast, Sunday brunch, lunch, and dinner. Chef Clark Day curates a seasonal menu featuring gourmet New Canadian cuisine paired with fine wines.
Amazing food with great staff and a great atmosphere. Wonderful views of the harbour and RMC as well as a Martello tower. Parking onsite but can be a bit tight for larger SUV’s. We celebrate my son’s birthday and the server was fantastic. All the food was amazingly and delicious.
Jason L — Google review
My husband and I frequently visit Kingston and lately have stayed at the Delta Hotel. Luckily, in doing so, we discovered the AquaTerra restaurant inside the Delta. Arguably the best restaurant in Kingston. Aside from its breathtaking views on the water, the service and meals are outstanding. The elegant atmosphere coupled with a casual sophistication for dinner were only outdone by the wonderful meal and the outstanding service. Our waiter Marcos, clearly a seasoned veteran, guided us through the menu and was attentive throughout. I ordered the Salmon paella while my husband opted for the rib eye steak. Both were delicious and on point. Breakfast and brunch are also wonderful dining experiences with a beautiful menu filled with local ingredients and seasonal selections. I can say without a doubt now that AquaTerra is our "go-to" restaurant when visiting Kingston! Until next time, Diane and Blake Ottawa, Ontario
Diane L — Google review
The seafood chowder was the best dish we tried. Delicious! The other dishes were okay, but nothing matched the chowder. We also had the calamari, the AquaTerra burger (a bit dry, could use more of the burger sauce), and the fish tacos. We also ordered a grilled chicken breast with steamed vegetables out of the kids menu for ou daughter. The chicken breast was good, but there was a limitation on what steamed vegetables were available. We didn’t ask which vegetables came with the dish, but assumed it would be a combination of broccoli, cauliflower, green beans or something similar, but the dish came with carrot and cucumber sticks (not sure if steamed), as the waitress immediately asked us if those were okay when bringing the dish and was prompt to replace them with steamed broccolini (only other vegetable available). Not only the instance above, but the service was really good. Hotel parking is also available for the restaurant guests. FYI, we dined at the indoor restaurant (nice view nonetheless). The patio apparently has a different menu.

Had an amazing meal at Aqua Terra last night with my wife. We enjoyed several appetizers, drinks, and light fare, and options from both the aqua and terra side of the menu. The service was excellent; polite, welcoming, very considerate. The view from inside of the harbour was very nice. Next time I'd like to try eating out on the patio. We were too stuffed for dessert. Breakfast at Aqua Terra was simply delightful! The waffles came out perfectly crisp, topped with fresh berries, a light dusting of powdered sugar, and just the right touch of syrup; both beautiful and delicious. The coffee was smooth and rich, and the whole meal felt fresh and well-prepared. The atmosphere is calm with a nice view, making it a perfect spot to start the day. Staff were welcoming and attentive, which made the experience even better. Highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a quality breakfast in the city!

After perfectly prepared calamari for a starter, we had scallops last night. Scallops with polenta was a very well designed, coherent dinner dish, and was absolutely perfectly executed. Checked all the boxes. Ideally seared, and melting in the mouth sweet scallops were served with polenta cake that was similarly smooth inside and gently crunchy on the outside. The dots of sauce provided nice sour tone to balance the dish. Highly recommended. For the desert our smooth cheesecake served with peaches was an excellent choice. Our server Cole made us welcome and appreciated. Altogether that was a great dinning experience.

It is an elegant restaurant in the hotel lobby. However, i ordered a salmon dish to take away, the way it was placed in the box was as if it was dumped in there. See the picture attached.

Pan Chancho Bakery & Café is a charming European-style establishment that offers a delightful combination of bakery, café, and gourmet food shop. Known for its delectable baked goods, specialty breads, and gluten-free options, this place also stands out with its creative brunch menu featuring dishes like El Chancho and Red Eye Poutine. The beautiful limestone building houses an upscale retail store with artisan breads and an impressive craft cheese selection.
Excellent choice for brunch, something for everyone. As a non egg eater, my options are generally limited, but here I was limited to two dishes I would have been happy with. I thoroughly enjoyed my smoked salmon on rye, my table mates enjoyed their weekenders, great coffee, efficient service. Worth it.

Pan Chancho Bakery in downtown Kingston was an absolute delight! This stunning bakery provides you with the diverse selection of baked goods. The standout for me was without a doubt the cranberry scone. It was absolutely stunning—hands down the best scone I’ve ever had in my entire life. Perfectly baked, with the right balance of tart cranberries and a buttery, tender crumb. It’s worth a visit for that alone.

Got a table on the patio. Our server(Hannah) was wonderful, well informed and able tell us about the dishes. My wife and I had the Weekender breakfast, which included over easy eggs, bacon on a butter croissant. It was so delicious. I had a Chai Latte to drink it was made perfectly. We asked for the dessert and pastry menu - my wife ordered the coconut cream pie I had the angel food cake with vanella creme and fresh local strawberries. What a wonderful experience. Thank you to all the staff how made the experience great.

That salmon toast was one of the best i’ve ever had! The latte was a true latte, perfect ratio of milk to coffee and the pastry was very fresh! The only thing is the food is a bit pricey but the quality is on-par with how much we paid! Loved this place and the staff was very friendly!!

Great place to hang out. We went for an Americano, a Croissant and Crispy Potatoes. Coffee and croissant were great. Not a fan of crispy potatoes. There’s also a store at the front from where you can buy breads, wines, meals and many other stuff. Staff was really nice and friendly. There’s street parking nearby and a few paid parking lots. It can be challenging to find on a busy day. Definitely recommended.

It was a great place for an introduction to Kingston. Authentic, delicious and though it was bus, the servers were welcoming. I absolutely loved the upcycled fabric napkins and the art on the walls. Will make a point to visit every time we visit.

Amazing food and coffee! I got a cappuccino and a dirty chai - the chai was the best I’ve ever had. We both got the El Chancho. It is pretty expensive here but you get a great amount for what you pay, nothing was bland and you can tell everything was fresh.

A first time visit here and we absolutely loved a number of their items such as the delicious shortbread cookies, the melt in your mouth Ferraro cheesecake ball and the yummy coconut lemon square. The mo better bar was pretty tasty as was the chocolate bread and raspberry jam scone. We were not wowed by the peanut butter chocolate chip cookie and the Quebec maple chomeur which we had never experienced before did not quite have the taste we were expecting and seemed heavy with maple syrup but not heavy with taste-maybe the way it is supposed to be?!? A loaf of sourdough bread came home with us and it is some of the best we have had. Many more items to go back and sample and we will definitely return. Great customer service with a smile. Overall, an enjoyable and delectable outing!

Bellevue House National Historic Site in Kingston, Ontario, Canada, is a restored Italianate-style villa that was once the residence of Sir John A. Macdonald, Canada's first Prime Minister. The house, built in the 1840s and designated as a National Historic Site for its architecture, offers guided tours by staff dressed in period costumes.
We were hesitant to visit this site due to John A. MacDonald’s policies related to the Indian Act and Residential Schools. However, we found that we could sign up for the ‘Unpacking MacDonald’ Tour which promised to explore MacDonald’s legacy…both the positive and the negative. The tour, led by Jake, a perk staff & student at Queens doing a PhD in History. The tour was excellent…informative, interactive & thought-provoking. The renovation (physical & cultural) that Parks Canada has completed in this location was obviously completed with a great deal of thought as well as consultation with local Indigenous & community members. The tour was 1.5 hrs and we easily spent another hour exploring on our own…listening to several of the videos and reading all the information & reflections. We highly recommend.

Nice museum on the life of our first Prime Minister, John A. Macdonald. The guide was dressed in the 1840s era. A tour of the house, which is beautiful, was really informative.

Came to know more about the history of the house and ended up being well informed. The house was well preserved and there are a lot of interactive stuff to do and learn from. The only thing we wish it had is some descriptive or information about the plants in the garden. Other than that, it's a lovely place to visit.

I've loved visiting this place since I was a small child. I've been here probably a dozen times over my life time. I brought my service dog last time and they had no issues which was refreshing. I never get tired of the history and the beauty of the house and grounds. When I was little I used to dream about living there.
CatMommy84 — Google review
Wonderful, with free admission (guided tours for $). The grounds and house are quite beautiful and you'll appreciate the shaded grounds on hot days. Its also a nice in-between stop if going from downtown to Kingston Penetentiary. Learn a bit of history with plenty of interpretive panels and knowledgable staff at the house.

My husband and I did the tour on Friday night this weekend. Liam was our guide, and I have to say it was an incredible evening! So much knowledge was imparted to us in the time that we spent on the ship and I truly loved the experience. The staff was ready to answer any questions we had, and I have to say that the night truly exceeded my expectations. Thank you all for such a great time!
Wendy L — Google review
Guide (Liam) was excellent. Tour was interesting with lots of ghost haunting stories. We went on the ship out of Kingston build during the Titanic era and the ship itself was amazing to see. It was hot on the boat (they didn't have air conditioning back then!) so I would suggest bringing a hand fan and bottle of cold water. They were kind enough to give us a bottle of water in the gift shop and just asked if we wouldn't mind leaving a donation but it wasn't mandatory. They didn't have water for sale in the gift shop. I would suggest they add a vending machine or small fridge with water for sale. I think the girl actually gave us staff water (it had an initial on the top). I was very grateful as the ship was very hot. The set up in the ship was very good with each of the guest rooms set up in a different passenger theme. The guide gave us enough time to check out all the different areas. I would recommend this tour and am going to be looking for others from this company. Thanks for a great night on my birthday celebration weekend!

We had fun taking the haunted walk tour through Kingston last night with the lovely Savanna. She was very kind, courteous, knowledgeable and made sure to keep us all safe during the walk. We loved our Haunted Walk in Kingston. Our guide Allison was amazing! Allison was very knowledgeable, engaging and an amazing story teller. What a great experience. Liam our tour guide provided a very informative and fun evening. It was nice to have a look into the past and imagine what it would have been like to voyage on the Keewatin. We will definitely go again on one of the regular tours to gain even more info and a different perspective. I highly recommend this tour, two thumbs up👍🏻👍🏻

A fantastic experience on a beautiful boat, with a guide who made all the difference! Allison was a wonderful tour guide whose knowledge, passion, enthusiasm, and dramatic edge, helped to create the perfect tour for a "spooky" cooler and slightly rainy evening. We are still not sure how the window in the drawing room rattled, moved, and then opened and closed (was it the wind? Perhaps...perhaps not!). Thank you, Haunted Walk and Allison, for a wonderful night! Can't recommend highly enough!

Embark on a journey through time with Kingston Trolley Tours, where you can hop aboard a charming red trolley to explore the historic sites and attractions of Canada's second-oldest city. Led by knowledgeable guides, the hour-long tour covers significant landmarks such as the Royal Military College, Fort Henry, and Bellevue House, offering insights into Kingston's 300-year-old history.
We had a great time with Kingston Trolley Tours! The weather was perfect, and our guide, Chris, was super informative and easy to listen to. The tour lasted just over an hour and was packed with interesting facts and local history. Definitely worth it if you're visiting Kingston! Just a heads-up—strollers aren’t allowed on the trolley, so bring a carrier if you’ve got little ones. You can hop off at stops or stay on for the full ride. Highly recommend!

I had a great experience on the Kingston Trolley Tour! The tour was both scenic and educational, offering a well-paced overview of the city’s major landmarks and rich history. What really made the ride enjoyable was our tour guide, who was also the driver—he did a fantastic job narrating the city’s story with clarity and enthusiasm. Whether you’re new to Kingston or just want to see the city from a different perspective, this tour is a great choice. Highly recommended.

Had a wonderful tour last night for the ghost experience. Richard was a fantastic tour guide of the spooky Kingston history. The ghost visitors to share their stories were a great addition to the tour and the time flew by! Definitely recommend snapping some photos at the asylum as you never know what or who you will see

It was super hot when we visited so we opted for the trolley tour over the walking tour. We stayed in the entire tire rather than hop on and hop off as we like to visit the places for longer (which we did on different days). Tour lasted for 75 minutes and provided a lot of information about Kingston. Information was obviously scripted and a bit rote not overall still good. We did find it a bit expensive for what it offered.

This picturesque location is a must-visit for those seeking outdoor adventures in Kingston.

Nice place to visit. High point was feeding chickadees. There is a section of trail specifically labeled as a chickadee feeding area. If you bring black oil sunflower seeds, place some in your outstretched hand, and stand still, they will land on your hand and take seeds. They are still timid and cautious, but my 6 and 11 year olds both found great success feeding them. They were delighted

We came to Kingston to see a concert at the Spire, which is a converted church. Next day, on our way home, we were looking for a place that the two of us could enjoy our coffee and treats. Very surprised to see the”Park”- which is only 10 hectares smaller than Vancouver’s Stanley Park.! This is a conservation park so unspoiled Our first time there (from Orleans ON) but now we have a nature spot to visit next time. We are interested in trying out the trail walk. We waited for a few minutes and a Heron landed followed by other birds popping up - too far away to identify but we could see the colours. Kingston is lucky to have this area. They seem to run quite a lot of nature programs. Pancake seasons sounds like a good time to visit! We enjoyed our new quiet coffee spot.

was a very beautifull walk. The loop around the lake was awesome just a little muddy in some places. When going with dogs, make sure they had their Anti Tick stuff and take one of those tick clippers with you in case. The restaurant has been serving customers for nearly 25 years and offers a charming blend of rustic and modern aesthetics, creating a cozy yet refined ambiance. Their menu features a wide variety of artisanal wood-oven pizzas, from traditional Margherita to inventive creations like the Dynamo with smoked chicken and honey drizzle.
Tried this place many times over the years. I used to visit my daughter when she attended university here plus it is my half way stop to Montreal. This place never disappointed me over the years. Great pizzas and amazing service. Tried most pizzas plus specials. This restaurant has a cloning machine lol as servers look the same and sometimes I get confused to who is my server. Thank you for the great pies and amazing service!!

Great spot located in the heart of Kingston by the water. We had a small puppy at the time, and the restaurant was able to seat us on the patio. The service was amazing, and the food was great. I recommend the pizza, and or any type of pasta.

It’s so busy at Wooden Heads, and for good reason. The pizzas are the star of the show. I made my own this time with smoked muzz, onion, and mushroom, and it was fantastic. My wife had prosciutto and arugula. We split the beet salad, which was also wonderful. You can read other reviews on here about how great the crust and flavors are of all the pizzas, and I concur. This place was a hit twenty years ago when I first came, and remains wonderful today. Great place to take the parents if you’re a Queen’s student, great place to go with friends, just a fun atmosphere with delicious food.

Great service, delicious food. I went to there on Monday evening, there was no table to sit. So I went next day. Still lots of people came. Pizza crust is thin and cripy, also clean and simple tasty. I really recommand this place.

Wow! Everyone at our table was completely satisfied with the food — not a single complaint! The staff were incredibly welcoming and genuinely caring, which made the whole experience even better. We ordered the pesto pizza with roasted garlic, pasta with mushrooms, and nut salads — and honestly, one was better than the other! Every dish was bursting with flavor and cooked to perfection. We absolutely loved everything and will definitely be coming back.
Sahar J — Google review
Wooden Heads offers consistently good food with a creative menu that keeps people coming back. The wood-fired pizzas and fresh ingredients make for a memorable dining experience, and it's easy to see why it's a favourite spot in Kingston. That said, pricing does feel a bit on the high side for what you get, and the atmosphere can be quite loud. Smething to keep in mind if you're hoping for a quiet evening out. Given its popularity, reservations are highly recommended if you want to secure a table, especially on weekends. During our most recent visit, the service didn’t quite match the standard of the food. Our server was friendly but seemed stretched thin; we had to follow up more than once on requests to get them fulfilled. It didn’t ruin the experience, but it was noticeable. Overall, Wooden Heads is a solid choice for a night out, especially if you’re craving something flavorful and unique. Just be prepared for the lively ambiance. a And maybe a little patience with the service when it’s busy.
Adam M — Google review
We made a reservation for 5pm on a Saturday - the place was busy so I'd recommend to make a reservation if you can. It's a bit loud inside, not because the music is too loud, but just from so many people talking in a small space. It didn't dampen our visit at all, but if youre looking for a quiet dinner out, this might not be the place for you. The tables are close together too, so it is impossible to have a somewhat private conversation. Again, not something that dampened our visit, but something that others might want to consider. Our server was Shannon and she was absolutely lovely. She was friendly and attentive. My husband ordered the Campagna pizza (pomodoro sauce, mozzarella, mushrooms and double smoked bacon, my son ordered the Classico (pomodoro sauce, mozzarella and pepperoni) and I went with our server Shannon's recommendation, which was the Milanese Bocca (breaded chicken with prosciutto and smoked mozzarella, with Calabrese cream sauce, and upgraded from roasted potatoes to the potato cake and it was the best decision! The boys loved their pizzas - it's clear they are made with fresh, quality ingredients and there wasn't even a speck of grease on their plates. The Milanese Bocca is quite possibly the best meal I've ever had at a restaurant. My son even helped me finish it after he was finished with his pizza and he just kept saying, "oh my god" after each bite - yes, it's that good! The chicken was perfect, it didn't taste or feel heavy like most fried chicken does, the potato cake was ahhhhhhhhmazing - so light and so flavourful, the calabrese cream sauce just pulled it all together perfectly. Thank you Shannon for the recommendation! We all agreed that we can't wait to come back and it will be our go to place for dinner everytime we visit Kingston.

While visiting the scenic downtown Kingston area we checked out this pizza restaurant and we were pleasantly surprised. The service was so good our waitress kept checking with us to make sure our drinks were always full and even offered to move us to the patio when it became available. But she was so nice we decided to stay at our table. The wood oven pizza was delicious and the prices were reasonable, I would totally recommend. If you are looking for the best pizza and service with reasonable pricing in Kingston was no further this is your place!!

Housed in a building dating back to the 1800s, this establishment is known as the oldest brewpub in Ontario. With its cozy and funky decor, it provides an inviting atmosphere for patrons to enjoy their hearty menu and house-made beers on two spacious patios during warm summer months.
We sat on the patio and had a nice meal on Saturday. We had the crispy chicken sandwich and the small chicken Caesar salad, it was all very delicious and our service was very good. The waitress is also nice enough to let us bring our dogs as long as they were good boys, which of course they were.

Amazing spot with great craft beer. I went on a nice warm, sunny day and the patio was open overlooking main Street. Friendly staff and good food. I ordered Caesar Salad, Chicken wings and Nachos. Everything tasted good. They offer a wide variety of craft beer. Whitetail cream ale is highly recommended.

I absolutely loved the interior decor—it was full of thoughtful details that gave the place a cozy, old Canadian vibe. The atmosphere felt warm and inviting right from the moment we walked in. The staff were friendly and always greeted us with genuine smiles, which made the experience even better. We also tried the chips and dip, and wow—the chips were homemade, incredibly fresh, crunchy, and absolutely delicious. As for the beers, they were fantastic! My favorite was the raspberry wheat—it had a wonderful fruity flavor that was both refreshing and satisfying. Overall, a great spot to relax, enjoy good food and drinks, and soak in the atmosphere. I’ll definitely be coming back!

Came by for lunch and sat out on the front patio, which had lots of shade. Service was quick, and the beer selection was extensive and tasty. The food was awesome! Loved the cod cakes, the Royale burger with bacon and jalapeños, poutine, and even the pickled eggs.

For our first time in Kingston we wanted to find a good brew pub that we could go with our dog. The Kingston Brewing Cie came as highly rated . The place is actually great. We were seated in their Courtyard; it was cozy; and enough room for our dogs to lie down. We got some of their locally Made IPA and they were very good ! On that aspect; we were quite happy . On the food side however, it was disappointing for us. My crispy chicken sandwich had quite a side look with a bland mayo, and 3 pickle slices. And the batter on the chicken was just okay. My partner had their fish and chip, and she felt the batter tasted like old oil. It was overall underwhelming. Another table close to us shared their burger was good. Maybe we have been unlucky? YMWV.

We loved everything about our experience. We visited for a weeknight dinner in August. We sat outside in the back courtyard which is very picturesque and cozy. The building itself is old. The courtyard in the back is connected to the street via l an arch walkway through the building. They didn't have information on the building's history but I thought perhaps the courtyard in the back might have been stables at one time. Now there are pergolas, patio lights, Vines and plants. We tried the double dry IPA and really enjoyed it. The kids got chicken strips and fries. I got a breaded chicken sandwich and a salad and my husband got the chicken pot pie in a salad. All the food was really yummy. The service was also very good. We had two servers come to our table within just a few minutes of sitting down. And they were attentive throughout our meal. We did check out the inside before we ate and it's it has the feel of an English pub. There's lots of dark wood booths and interesting decor all around. I highly recommend to anyone in the area regardless if you're drinking the beer or not.

If you're looking for a delightful dining experience in Kingston, Ontario, look no further than the Black Dog Tavern. My recent visit was nothing short of fantastic! The atmosphere is inviting, and the staff is incredibly friendly, attentive, and efficient, ensuring that every aspect of your meal is enjoyable. One standout for us was the onion soup, which was rich and flavorful – truly a must-try! We paired it with their delicious hummus and crispy fried calamari, and we couldn't have been happier. For those with dietary restrictions, the Black Dog is a great spot for gluten-free options as well! We'll definitely be returning on our next trip to Kingston. Highly recommend this gem!

Dropped in to catch up with a friend and try a nice place to have a great light treat and some beverages. The charcuterie board was incredible. Not only a beautiful spread, but some incredibly fine selections to tantalize your palette. From that we could not resist the oysters, and we were not let down at all. Our host, Chris, presented the dishes and walked us through what was served with the culinary expertise you would expect at a high-end fine food restaurant, with the comfortably of being a friendly neighbor as well. Service, ambiance and quality were all exceptional. Highly recommended.

We decided to try this restaurant on a whim (walking by, no reservation). Delicious meal. Shared a plate of calamari as an appetizer. For the main, I had the North African Tagine and added shrimp (chicken and beef are available as add-one too), and my dining partner had the pan-fried trout. Both were generous portions. The desserts were very good. The service was very attentive and I enjoyed the restaurant. Highly recommend.

Great experience having lunch by chance at The Black Dog Tavern. Quickly seated, and food came quite quickly as well. Both meals were great! Amazing flavours, good quantities, and served hot. Very reasonable pricing for quality of food. Definitely look forward to another visit down the road.

Enjoyed brunch here last weekend. My first time eating on the back patio, which protected us nicely from the wind. We were offered a glass of complimentary prosecco, and this was a very lovely way to start! Our meals were very tasty and the service was good, although a bit slow. As the season gets warmer, I would recommend enjoying a meal on the back patio and the ambiance is also nice indoors. Thank you for a great meal.

We came here for my birthday dinner and were super impressed with the service. Leah was our server and she was amazing. I have a ton of food allergies and she took amazing care of us. She made sure that everything was safe and even asked where my epi pens were just incase. She also communicated with us through out the dinner to make sure we knew that the kitchen staff were taking my allergies seriously. This was one of the best experiences I’ve had at a restaurant. I would like to say a big thank you to Leah for the amazing experience she provided us with!

Great food and great atmosphere. We stopped in for lunch and had the fish and chips which was amazing. Plenty of seating, friendly service that was quick. Atmosphere is that of a bistro in Paris so expect lots of French jazz type music. Parking could be a bit of a gamble, it’s on street and you could end up parked right out front or a few blocks away.

Lone Star Texas Grill is a delightful destination for those craving a taste of the Southwest. Known for its vibrant atmosphere and friendly service, this eatery offers an array of mouthwatering dishes that will tantalize your taste buds. From sizzling fajitas to hearty burgers, every meal is crafted with care and bursting with flavor. The staff at Lone Star Texas Grill are always eager to make your dining experience enjoyable, ensuring you feel welcomed from the moment you arrive.
Overnighted in Kingston yesterday, on Superbowl Sunday. Thought we were unlikely to find a decent spot for drinks and some dinner, then we found Lone Star taking 7PM reservations on Open Table. The place was perfect, with lots happening, fun crowd, tons of televisions, good music, amazing margaritas!...and we had the steak/chicken Dos fajitas, fried mozzarella sticks, and churros for dessert. The staff were great! We landed at the best spot in town, ate well, and soaked up enough margaritas to warrant a UBER. a fun spot for dinner/ drinks. Definitely recommend.

pleasantly surprised by this place. prices are steep but the food is decent, I had the chicken fajitas. the free chips and salsa is a nice touch too. our server was great too, he had a good sense of humour and looked like he knew what he was doing. i don't know why it was so hard to get drinks though, never got asked for a refill and it took at least 15 mins to get one once i asked. overall a great night out though.

Had the grilled chicken & avocado salad—tasty, big portions, a bit pricey ($29 + $4). Patio was awesome and super central. We were 8 people, enjoyed a few drinks and a great meal!

My family and I had lunch for Father's day here! There is a parking lot across the street (paid). The food was amazing. The music at the right volume where you can enjoy and still have a conversation comfortablely. The service was exceptional 👏. The drinks were fine. My husband really enjoyed the ribs. The patio dining at the back was lovely. We will come again when in Kingston.

I'm not one to write reviews for restaurants. Usually I just eat and go. However, I've never felt more welcome here! The food is cooked to perfection, and you're given a lot of it for a cheap price. To add onto that, the waiters are incredibly attentive and polite (Props to Savannah.) The wait for tables could be long, but that isn't at all an issue because of the reward. Absolutely amazing. Would recommend :D
Marie — Google review
Server and hostess was incredibly nice. Initially confused patio for margaritaville but they very kindly explained to us where it is located. There is complimentary chips and salsa which are decent in quality. There was a bit of a wait between ordering and apps but it was a busy night. Mozzarella squares were hot and freshly breaded, with a light ranch sauce. They were the best mozzarella squares i have ever had. The anojitos were also very good; stuffed with cream cheese. Waitress came to check on us during apps which I have never seen before. Usually I’m only checked on during mains. Very courteous and hospitable. The drinks were also very good. Tried the Lone Star Lime Margarita; very tangy and not too sweet. Would order again. Got a smash burger with seasonal vegetables. Broccoli was very buttery and tasted fresh to me at least. Was cooked exactly how I like my broccoli. My burger however was interesting to say the least. It was as juicy and cheesy as I would have hoped, with some crispy cheese “leather” at the edges. However, I am sad to report that the burger was not a true smash burger. A true smash burger is smashed thinner than that at lone star grill, with lattices at the edges. I believe lone star grill should remand their marketing and rename their “smash burger section” to simply a burger section. Other than that, food was well received and portions were massive. Fries were also thin and crispy which is always recommended. Overall would come again and will likely sample their Mexican faire. Special shout out to our server whose name I did not catch, but she had denim shorts, nose ring and sunglasses on top of her head with long medium brown hair, working Sunday night. She should def receive some reward from management for her good work tonight.

This would be a full one if the server was not so sweet. Food was rubbish. Nachos came out cold - wings were horrible; ended up not ordering any mains based on how regrettable the appies were. Don’t waste your time or money.

The Jack Astor's Bar & Grill Kingston is a chain with a lovely bar in Kingston. The rooftop bar at the top has a view of the main square of Kingston, which is lit up at night as it is during the day. The service, food, and beer were all great during January when the restaurant was closed due to weather.
My experience a Jack Astor’s was absolutely amazing. I came to watch football on the Big Screen and I was not disappointed . Liv the bartender was a delight. Not only did she make incredible drinks but her friendly, fun personality was incredible. With her great conversational skills and her ability to keep a smile on everyone face I can tell why so many people love to come here I highly recommend Jacks Kingston to anyone wanting somewhere that has good food/drinks and incredible vibes. 10/10

Decent vibe i like that there’s music but it’s not crazy loud. Didn’t have red bull and i needed a caf boost. Price for a 10oz wine is 20 bucks for a 14 dollar (LCBO) bottle which is a bit high. Food is excellent i had the truffle burger and my wife had the cheeseburger. She liked it said it was good and very rich. The bun is very soft and fresh.
Lj J — Google review
Jack Astor’s has always been our go-to for elevated pub food, and the dishes here were tasty as expected: the Mexican chicken bowl was fresh and zesty, the burgers juicy and satisfying, and the wings hit the spot with their crispy coating and tasty sauces. We were sat on the patio since the main floor wasn’t open, which could have been lovely, but the experience was marred by poor management oversight. The bees were relentless, swarming our food nonstop, and one of the patio umbrellas was broken, forcing staff to scramble and drag over two others just so we wouldn’t bake in the sun. On top of that, the plants around the patio were visibly wilting, clearly lacking watering, which only added to the sense that management isn’t paying attention to the basics. There are plenty of natural and chemical bee repellents they could use to make the patio enjoyable, so why isn’t that being done? The servers themselves were kind, attentive, and clearly doing their best under tough conditions, but it felt unfair to them that so much of their energy had to go into crisis-managing rather than just giving good service. What should have been a relaxing meal ended up being a “let’s eat fast and leave” situation. The food keeps Jack Astor’s above average compared to most pubs, but this location desperately needs management to step up so that both guests and staff can actually enjoy the experience.

Today my husband and I elected to spend our 11th Wedding Anniversary in Kingston.....with our 3 kids in tow. We enjoyed an afternoon at Fort Henry then headed to our reservation at Jack Astor's. We arrived a bit early, but staff were on-the-ball and brought us up to our roof-top table pretty quickly. We were seated fairly centrally; just under the heaters and next to planters. Nice atmosphere as the sun began to set. Our server, Nicole C. was PHENOMENAL. She was efficient and friendly. She brought menus, drinks, starters, and entres promptly. She kept our glasses full and expertly tidied the table as dishes were complete. She did this all while attending her other tables with equal diligence. As a someone who served years ago, I tend to pay attention to how my server works. This woman was killing it. She made GREAT SERVICE look effortless. She glided throughout the roof-top dining area with grace and a smile. She was kind to everyone. Now on top of all this, she dealt with the chaos of my son's overreaction to the bees in the MOST PROFESSIONAL way possible. She was quick, compassionate and back to our table before I had pulled out polysporin and after-bite from my diaper bag for him. She had ice in hand and her manager (also impressively amazing at her job) by her side. I will admit my son's behavior was embarassing, but the diligence and compassion from staff altered the situation from one that would have been stares of pity and disgust, to an atmosphere of care, concern and assistance. They were Rockstars! They took it all in stride and handled it well. On top of being stellar at handling the chaos with all of the above mentioned, they also turned down the heaters that were above us really quickly. My husband and I were trying not to be "those people with kids", but honestly sitting under those heaters...we were sweating up a storm. When we asked if they could turn them down abit above us, Nicole C. Hopped into action and sorted it ASAP. I really can't say enough good things about the staff we encountered today. They are what all professionals in the serice industry should aspire to. We will definitely be back... both with and without kids. We have already raved to friends and family about the impressive service. Thank you for helping our family make memories and enjoy this last weekend before school starts back up!

German restaurant
Amadeus Cafe is a cozy, family-operated restaurant in Kingston that offers German and Austrian dishes along with a selection of beers on tap. Despite facing some challenges, the restaurant has managed to reopen its beloved back patio with the help of the community. The patio features two seating areas with table-top fireplaces where patrons can enjoy European draught beers or warm gluwhein. Tucked away in a limestone alcove, this hidden gem provides a charming and secluded dining experience.
Food was excellent. Though we got one dish that was not what was ordered, it was replaced in a timely manner and staff was attentive. Only change would be better lighting as where we were sitting had to use my phone flashlight to read the menu with better ease. Make a reservation and enjoy a true gem of a food place in the heart of downtown Kingston. Great meal before our show at The Grand Theater, short walk from each other.

Very nice German style restaurant right in the downtown of Kingston. Easy walk from major hotels by the harbour. Service was really nice, quick, polite and cheerful. Broad menu with a lot of traditional German/Austrian dishes. And the imported beers to go with them. Sausage dishes were particularly good in my opinion. Plenty of schnitzel dishes too including many with sauces. My sauced schnitzel was not as good as I had hoped. I had hoped for a more 'hunter style' brown sauce, the one I had was more tomato based which I did not care for as I felt it overwhelmed the schnitzel. The schnitzel itself was excellent, thicker than expected, perfectly breaded and fried just right. Meals come with a homemade soup or German style salad. Go hungry and have desert as well, the strudel at the next table looked delicious.
Paul G — Google review
Generous portions of delicious and satisfying German food. You cannot go wrong with the schnitzel -- make sure you get the ones that come with the spätzle (a German pasta) which is lightly pan fried. Even after 20 years, I still highly recommended this place. Pictured here: Holstein Schnitzel

We had a reservation for a birthday dinner and requested patio seating, but unfortunately, our table wasn’t held. It seemed to be a recurring issue that night for other guests as well. Shortly after being seated, I received a glass with visible lipstick marks. When I asked for a new one, it seemed like the same glass was just wiped instead of replaced, which felt unhygienic. The staff were kind but seemed overwhelmed, creating a bit of a tense atmosphere. The most surprising part was when an earwig crawled out of my schnitzel. To their credit, the team handled it well, they comped the meal and quickly brought out a replacement without issue. The food was okay, though a little bland. I did order simpler items, so I’d be open to trying different dishes in the future. Service varied, one staff member stood out for being especially warm and attentive, which left a positive impression. While the night didn’t go as expected, I appreciated the way the situation was addressed and would consider giving it another try. **I hope this feedback is helpful and taken in the constructive spirit it’s intended.

I've been coming to this restaurant for almost 30 years. My parents know the owners. We've LOVED it here for years. All of it ruined by one employee tonight. My 7 year old son found a bone in his meal. He has pork snitchzel. This was a chicken bone. When I flagged someone down about it. She laughed at us an said it can't be a bone from the snitzel. I tell her it doesn't matter where the bone came from but it was served to a child who could have choked on it. She laughed again and rolled her eyes. I asked for the manager. She said I am the manager. She refused to comp the meal, and have another brought out for my son to eat. She just kept laughing and saying it's not from the snitzel. Our waitress did the right thing, and removed the charge. My sin, disgusted and upset at this point didn't want to eat it anymore. I told the waitress to cancel his remake. This one "manager" handled this so badly. I'm tempted to call Brian, the owner, and let him know our experience. We won't be back. I'll miss it, but if that's how a manager deals with things, by laughing and rolling their eyes at a concerned customer, then they won't receive my money. I would like to add that no foul language was used and no yelling was done. This was a calm "discussion" if you'd like to call it that. I've attached the photos of what my son found below. You be the judge. Is it a bone and could it have been a choking hazard?

Nestled in the heart of downtown Kingston, Kingston City Hall is a stunning example of 19th-century neoclassical architecture that has stood since its construction in 1844. Once the seat of the Province of Canada, this grand building features an impressive domed clock tower designed by architect George Browne. Visitors can embark on guided tours to explore its captivating interior, including the breathtaking Memorial Hall adorned with stained glass windows honoring Canadian contributions during World War I.
My son and I spent 2 days walking all over the town of kingston. What a cool place right on the bank of lake ontario. Lots of cool buildings and museums. I went on one of the free tours of Kingston City Hall. It was a lovely informative tour! My only complaint is that though there are dozens of huge portraits of male mayors hung up on every wall, Dr Jenny Trout (the first woman physician licensed in Canada that taught at the first women’s college of medicine which was in the city hall building) only has a plaque on a small side wall. Where’s the portrait!?

Kingston is really suitable for City Walk! Kingston is a historic city with a history of more than 200 years. You can feel the traces of its history in every corner of this city. 🤔 It seems that after more than 200 years of historical accumulation, walking in this city always feels leisurely and comfortable. 😋 By the lake, you can see people enjoying the sunshine comfortably 🌞, on the road you can see Ding Ding cars carrying people enjoying the charm of this city☺️, and you can also see buildings after buildings washed away by history but with their own unique charm Buildings🧐, you can see Kingston’s kindness and love for people everywhere. Taking an aimless City walk here is probably the best way to express my love for it. 😘 So, are you ready for a city walk full of love in Kingston? 🥰

Located in downtown Kingston, Atomica Kitchen / Cocktails is a sleek Italian bistro and bar that offers a modern take on Mediterranean cuisine. The restaurant features a bright and upbeat atmosphere with ample indoor and outdoor seating. Their menu includes a plant-based section with options like nori-dusted fried oyster mushrooms and vegan Caesar salad.
Wonderful little spot in downtown Kingston with a relaxed industrial fusion vibe. Service was excellent and the food was fresh and flavourful. I had the lunch fettuccine with a garden salad but still had to take some home. Fettuccine was like elevated comfort food. Sauce was perfect not too heavy and the chicken, mushrooms and bacon were perfect together. They do offer lots of vegetarian and GF options so there is something for everyone.

A small, cozy restaurant serving up authentic Italian food! There’s not too much seating available so it would be best to call ahead. The menu had a fair selection of dishes and the portion sizes were filling. The pizzas were great fresh but all our food took a long time to come out. Service was lovely and everyone was so kind and welcoming. Would recommend checking Atomica out!

I had arancini and foccacia plater for appetizers. Omg! It's so delicious! The foccacia is fluffy and so fresh. I ordered the Tre Porcellini pizza. Yummy! We enjoyed our meal and the options that are provided for vegan menu items! The service was very slow and not great. Server was nice but very absent. Never checked on us and we had to go find him for extra sauce etc, well into half our meal. The restaurant was not busy, however the kitchen was also very slow. Our meal took more than 40 min to arrive, despite being a salad and a bao bun. We will definitely return again due to the options and quality of food, but would love greater service :)

Thanksgiving lunch at this restaurant. I wasn’t planning to eat here but my other restaurant was closed. Food was great. Service was great. Had a really good pasta and pizza lunch here. The lunch menu was very reasonable, especially in this tourist area. At first, I didn’t expect anything from this place but I was wrong. I ordered: Fettuccine Pasta (with chicken) - came with Cesar Salad (no need to pay extra). The sauce was not salty. It’s creamy and very tasty. Pasta texture was perfect. The bacon was fresh. A lot of ingredients in this pasta. Unlike other restaurants just to give you 2 sliced of chicken. Pizza: they don’t use wood fire but just conventional oven. Their dough is made in house and it’s very tasty. The pizza staff made very good pizza. Emma, our server, served us very good with big smile. I will definitely comeback again in the future.

Lemoine Point Conservation Area is a 136-hectare nature reserve featuring a mix of field, forest, and marshland along the shores of Lake Ontario and Collins Bay. The area offers over 2,500 meters of shoreline for those seeking solitude or a leisurely walk amidst abundant plant and animal life. It's also home to Cataraqui Conservation's tree planting program and a native plant nursery run by the Friends of Lemoine Point.
Great place to be close to nature. Multiple trails to hike. Remember to take some birds seed along, you can even feed some friendly strangers. Restrooms are primitive, take your own TP. Multiple picnic tables on route. Great place to hike.

Took my fiance here to see the scenery and animals. Spent most of our time feeding squirrels and chipmunks. Good to see the chipmunks are so used to being fed, they took the peanuts right from her hand, with the last one pretty aggressively taking it! 😂🤣🤣 Can't wait for a next visit. She'd go every day if we lived closer. 😁👍

A great place to go for a walk There are quite a few trail choices depending on how long you want to go. I love taking the trail along the shoreline with dips thru the forest. Tons of creatures like squirrels, chipmunks, turkey vultures and small birds line the trail paths.

Want to feel like Snow White when furry forest creatures appear out of nowhere at your presence, This is the place! A beautiful park full of wildlife you can practically hand feed. Bring a container to hold seed for the turkeys, they're really gobblers! I still have all my fingers, I just wasn't expecting a 25 lb bird to materialize out of nowhere expecting yo be fed like everything else 🤷‍♂️ Plenty of shade and lots of benches along the way so you can pace yourself accordingly.

Such beautiful scenery! I love feeding the birds — they often come right up and eat straight from my hands.

Great area if you want to take a walk. Easy to walk, lots of animal friends you can meet.

By far one of the best places in Kingston to come for a hike. 5 different trails, 1&5 tend to be your most crowded on busy days. It is a great place to interact with wild life. Bring bird seed and nuts if you wanna take some cool pictures. The squirrels literally come up to my service dog to great us, I LOVE IT
Nour K — Google review
We did the big loop. A nice gravel trail between the woods, through the meadow and along the shore of Ontario Lake. It's not what I'd normally consider as a hike but it was a nice and easy walk with some views of the lake and plenty of wild life. The trail is in a very good shape but it was quite buggy. For about half of the walk the trail was largely exposed. Enjoy!

The Merchant Tap House is a lively and casual haunt located in an 1800s building in Kingston, ON. It features outdoor seating with a large patio that wraps around the back of the building, providing a peaceful escape from road noise. The pub offers over 20 beers on tap and serves upscale pub grub with locally sourced vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options. This downtown gem exudes a classic vibe with friendly staff and beautiful decor.
I had the basic burger (only $10 with fries!!!) with a side of onion rings (extra $3 which means my meal was less than $20 with a tip!) and damn it was so good. Although the burger was quite dry, it had a seasoning on it which was so good. I asked about it and they don't season the burgers, they season the grill. The onion rings are the best I've had anywhere.

Great vibe, service, and food here. Our waiter (I think her name was Hannah??) was super nice and our food was amazing!! Only $10 for a classic burger and fries, and the lettuce wraps were also so good. Onion rings are always hit or miss at pubs but this place does them right!!

We had a nice lunch here. Service was pretty good, and the staff working were very friendly. The food was pretty good. Tow of us had the whiskey BBQ burger. It was very tasty, one of the was a little over done, but still good. They have lots of seating and a big patio. It's in a lovely location, right near the water. Nice place to grab a drink and some food in you are in the area.

My family visited for dinner on a Wednesday night in August. The weather was nice so we sat outside. I did go inside to check it out and really liked the ambiance. The building is historic dating to the 1830s. I recognize the decor style as Gothic. There is exposed black on the walls, dark paint and carpet, and Victorian couches and various locations. The bar is absolutely gorgeous. The dining area is split into three different rooms and there are fireplaces for ambiance. The bathrooms are on the right side of the bar and they are spacious and clean. The menu features updated pub food. They have a dedicated kids' menu bite which is nice for families. The outdoor and seating area is quite large. It's quiet since it's at the bottom of princess Street and there's not a lot of foot or auto traffic. Our server was fantastic. He was a young man starting law school at Queen's University. He asked us where we were from and why we were there on vacation. He seemed very interested in what we had to say. At the end of our meal he brought us a vintage Canadian coin someone had given him. It was such a nice thing for him to do. The food was very good. My kids got chicken strips and fries. I got the chicken Caesar wrap and my husband got the Thai lettuce wraps. We all really liked our food. You would definitely go again. They have live music in the evenings which I thought was really cool. The parking can be challenging on busy days since there is no dedicated parking lot. But there's a paid lot a block away that usually has some Open spaces. Okay. There's also some street parking.

Awesome blue cheese burger. Practically life changing, the calamari also was very tasty, and waitress was super friendly and gave great recommendations. The outside dining was very nice with a nice breeze off the lake. Definitely worth a return visit!
Collin M — Google review
We asked some chicken wings, the flavor wasn't very good. It seemed like they weren't fried well and didn't have much flavor. It definitely lacked a good seasoning. Burgers were Ok, but the fries were very good. Overall it wasn't a good experience.

Lovely eatery in Smith Falls enjoyed lunch with a friend. Went back a second time with my brother and his wife while visiting. The food was very good.

First of all, I just want to highlight the absolutely AMAZING service by Lola. What a lovely person and great waitress!!! Second of all, we took a beer (classic) and a Cocktail: the GG. So freaking good - not heavy on the alcohol and perfect for a drink on the terrace. Finally, to eat, we had the chicken quesadillas and the Thai Chicken Lettuces Wraps (spicy) and oh my god! Delicious. If you are used to eating very spicy, this may not "hit it" for you, but the tang is there. There were lots of other restaurants nearby which had line ups. I'm not sure why this restaurant was not as busy, maybe because it's on a quieter street (vis-a-vis the holiday Inn hotel)... But if you're in downtown Kingston, you should go here.

The Great Lakes Museum, formerly known as the Marine Museum of the Great Lakes, is a modest yet fascinating museum located at the Portsmouth Olympic Harbour in Kingston. Established by local divers in 1975 to preserve shipwreck artifacts, it now forms part of the National Historic Site of the Kingston Dry Docks. The museum offers insights into Kingston's maritime heritage and its connection to the Great Lakes through exhibits on shipwrecks, lighthouses, ecosystems, and water quality.
I had a friend visiting from out of town and decided to purchase a couple of premium tickets to tour the Keewatin as a form of entertainment. We visited the museum and took in the sights before heading out on a 90 minute guided tour. We were not disappointed. We learned a great deal about history and in particular this Cruise Ship built in Scotland in 1907. Our tour escort was friendly, well informed and we had a chance to inspect and learn about the upper levels of the ship. Museum staff were also friendly and helpful. All in all it was a great experience and one we would recommend to anyone with an interest in early transportation, history and Canadiana. Parking was just outside the Museum and free.
Bob W — Google review
We came from Montreal just for the Keewatin. We did the passenger experience tour. We loved the tour so much, we couldn’t get enough. We should have bought tickets for the engine room. Guess we will have to come back! The exhibits were beautifully staged with attention to detail and accuracy. Our tour guides went above and beyond both during the tour and afterwards.

Exceptional! Did the 45 minute Keewatin ship tour. Mya was a fantastic tour guide with lots of info & willing to answer all our questions. The ship is such a special piece of living history. Museum admission included with ship ticket. Museum has great exhibits - informative and beautifully displayed. Good interaction for young visitors. Highly recommend!!

Very informative and enjoyable tour of the S.S. Keewatin, a decommissioned steam ship built in 1907. Most Edwardian steamships have been scrapped so this old girl is unique. She has been beautifully restored and the guides are very knowledgeable. We did the engine tour as well as the tour of the passenger areas, and both were excellent. Visiting the museum proper is included in the cost of the ticket. This museum was an excellent way to spend a rainy afternoon.
Lauren B — Google review
The tour of the engine room was short but impressive. Our guide, Mya, carefully explained almost every part of this giant system and did her best to answer all our questions patiently. Even as someone outside this field, I could still feel the meticulous design and the sheer power made by this pre-electric era marvel.

We had a wonderful experience at the Great Lakes Ship Museum in Kingston! Our guide Thisandy was absolutely fantastic — engaging, knowledgeable, and full of fascinating stories that brought history to life. The tour was perfectly organized and enjoyable for everyone — adults, teens, and younger kids alike. We especially appreciated the headsets provided during the tour — such a thoughtful detail! It made it easy to hear the guide clearly without having to stay too close or strain to listen, which made the whole experience more relaxed and comfortable. The ship itself is beautifully restored, and the atmosphere is conveyed with great care and authenticity. Everything is so well presented — you really feel transported back in time. Highly recommended for families and anyone interested in history or maritime life!
Yulya L — Google review
An amazing piece of history! The tour was wonderful with comfortable headsets ensuring all could hear the guide. It is a very fortunate series of events that saved this vessel, and we were lucky to tour it. Even in a state of repair and restoration we could feel the comfort and clever design. These were luxury on the Great Lakes. I highly recommend this tour. Get the 1 hour and 15 minute full deal. It flies by!

Excellent opportunity to see a Great Lakes passenger liner from its golden era. The ship was built in Glasgow in 1907 and was in service until 1965. Excellent tour by knowledgeable guides, one of whom actually served on the ship in the early 1960s. There is also a small maritime museum that is a delight for ship buffs.

Murney Tower Museum National Historic Site of Canada is a 19th-century defense tower located in Kingston, Ontario. It is part of the Kingston Fortifications National Historic Site of Canada, which includes five military installations. Built in 1846 as a response to tensions with the USA, Murney Tower was designed to safeguard the city's naval dockyard and other important areas. The museum features various exhibits and offers insight into its strategic significance during its time.
I recently visited the Murney Tower Museum National Historic Site of Canada with my family, and it was a fantastic experience! The admission is free, and we appreciated the opportunity to make a donation at the end of the tour, with both card and cash options available. The museum offers a fascinating glimpse into Kingston's history, with well-preserved artifacts and informative displays. The staff were knowledgeable and friendly, making our visit even more enjoyable. If you're in Kingston, this museum is a must-visit!

We finally made it to this amazing tower and piece of local history. It was much bigger than it seems from the outside. It was a self guided tour. So we could take our time enjoying it. If You are passing or staying in Kingston stop by. It’s worth it.

This is both a National Historic Site of Canada and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This is one of four Martello Towers in the Kingston area, and the only one open to the public. The exhibits include three 32-pounder cannons, muskets, uniforms and other military artifacts. Staff are knowledgeable and very friendly.

Great little piece of nicely preserved Canadian historical architecture. It’s technically free to get in but they take donations (suggested is $5). NOTE: there are 3 levels and the stairs to get up or down are very narrow.

This site is simple and small. It would hardly take 15-30 mins to look inside and out. There is no tickets for entry but they accept donations. A site to link the Kingston's history, but there wasn't anything much interesting. This is not wheelchair accessible, but enough parking available and a beautiful lakefront to spend some time.

My inaugural visit to this arena in Kingston, Ontario, Canada, was truly unforgettable. It was a highly exhilarating and enjoyable evening spent sharing a fantastic game with friends and families of Lifestyle Home Products.

It's a bit pricey but a ton of fun. The facility is great and hockey lives here. We had a great time there tonight. They did a great job entertaining us. I definitely recommend going. This is exciting hockey!

The AC here is excellent, which makes watching a game very comfortable, especially on hot days. The arena is well maintained and clean, and the staff are always kind and professional, which really adds to the experience. The only drawback is that the seating feels quite small and close together, so it can get a bit cramped during busy events. Overall, though, it’s a solid venue with great atmosphere, friendly service, and everything kept in good shape.

Managing Type 1 Diabetes for a 5-year-old is challenging, and constant access to water and food is essential for his safety. Despite his backpack being filled with medical supplies and clearly marked with medical alert tags, staff required us to dump his water at the door. Their suggestion to refill it inside is not acceptable in a medical situation where immediate access is critical. Denying basic medical accommodations puts people at risk, and the Ontario Human Rights Code and AODA take precedence over any venue policy. I hope management reviews this and improves staff training on medical accessibility.

What a great place to watch a comedian, hockey 🏒 or a concert. This was an amazing experience with Jim Jefferies as one of my favorite comedians in a smaller venue than going to Toronto or Ottawa 💯. The new arena is amazing compared to what I grew up watching the Kingston Generals as a kid. Great place to watch anyone without going to a major city, and it's a beautiful town. I highly recommend giving this place and town a try 💯.

NORTHSIDE espresso + kitchen is a trendy Australian-inspired cafe located in downtown Kingston. The menu features fresh, seasonal dishes made with locally sourced ingredients. Whether you opt for the classic Avo Smash on grilled sourdough or the innovative Rubarab Porridge, there's something to satisfy every palate. This cafe draws inspiration from Melbourne's coffee culture, offering an inviting atmosphere to savor your meal and take a break from the hustle and bustle of daily life.
We waited about 20 minutes for a table, but it was definitely worth it. Their sandwiches and Tim's Benny are delicious and absolutely worth trying. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Northside Café is one of those places that instantly becomes your favorite. The moment you walk in, you feel the warmth — modern, stylish decor, cozy atmosphere, everything is spotless and welcoming. The staff deserves a special mention. Every single person working there is friendly, smiling, helpful, and actually knows what they’re doing. Service feels personal, not robotic — and that’s rare. The food is truly one of the best in Kingston. They care about quality. Ingredients are sourced from best suppliers, and you can taste the difference. I have several food intolerances, and they always go out of their way to accommodate my needs. And now… the coffee. Their coffee is exceptional. They invested in one of the most advanced (and expensive) coffee machines on the market, and they use high-quality beans — the result is a smooth and flavorful coffee that’s honestly on a European level. If you’re a coffee lover, this place is a must. No reservations here, and on weekends it gets busy — but the team is organized, takes your name for the waitlist, and you’re usually seated within 20 minutes. I genuinely recommend Northside Café to everyone. It’s a gem — one of the best spots in Kingston for food, coffee, and atmosphere.
Svetlana — Google review
This place has been recommended to us for years, but it’s always packed when we are in the area. So having a weekday off made it easy to stop in and get a table. And I gotta say they didn’t disappoint, big portions and great flavour combos, not your average breakfast stop for sure. The team was attentive and friendly. Great new location.
Rob E — Google review
The atmosphere there is cute and relaxing! Lots of windows so you get a lot of natural light in the restaurant. When we got there the hostess was really nice and gave us the option to get a text message when a table was ready or wait (which I liked) and we didn’t even have the opportunity to leave and a table was ready for us!! The food was delicious and flavourful and the staff were nice and cleaned the restaurant quite well. The only thing I would have preferred is that my latte and food came hotter in temperature. I think I would have really enjoyed the latte if it was warmer instead of room temperature
Shay G — Google review
Probably my favourite spot in Kingston! The food is a bit pricey, but you get what you pay for - the quality is phenominal and I believe most of the ingredients sre from local suppliers. My favourite menu item is the brunswick classic. Friendly waiting staff and well-decorated space with lots of plants. Sometimes there is a wait to be seated and you will be given the option to sit alone or with another party if everyone is comfortable with that. If the wait is expected to be long, you are free to explore the nesrby shops and you will get a text when your table is ready.

Nestled in the heart of Kingston, the PumpHouse stands as a remarkable testament to Canada's industrial heritage. This historic museum, housed in a 19th-century pumping station, invites visitors to explore its fascinating collection of steam-powered machinery and interactive exhibits. Established in 1851 to combat devastating fires and cholera outbreaks, it is recognized as Canada’s oldest original waterworks and one of only six surviving facilities of its kind in North America.
Had great time with family and kids. Awesome train set and dinosaur hunting got to tuch real dinosaur bone
Jaspreet S — Google review
There is not much to do at this museum. Yes , they added the dinosaurs exposition, which, in my opinion, has nothing to do with a Pumphouse. Plus, there is a lot of reading which my kids are too young. They have a section in the back with model trains, but again, I don't see the relevance with Pumphouse.
Cristine G — Google review
A great museum that offers fascinating information about Kingstons early days of providing water to the city. Entrance fee price was fair. It is a bit on the shorter side but still information rich with a lovely train model section. Worth a visit for sure.

The new exhibit "Soil Superheroes" is absolutely amazing! Very family/kid friendly with different things to touch and great visuals, but also enough detailed information to capture the attention of adults as well. Well worth visiting for the exhibit alone! Not to mention the model train room and the entire pump house itself!

It is not free to enter AND you must pay for parking which makes it a lower star however I gave a highest star because of the importance of understanding the information learned. What made it 5 star was the connection they honoured with indegenous people. I hope in the future more detail can be shared about indegenous people but for now I love the art exhibit combined with the water history of Kingston. It is also hosted a seperate exhibit about dinasaurs. This was included in the price. Also there is park area where you can take a walk along the water so this made it an extra special experience!

I love this historic theatre venue. Staff are helpful and friendly. Seating is comfortable. I usually enjoy the shows except for the Tina Tribute. The lead was good but some members of the band were not even close to what the song should be especially the saxophone player. The back up dancing was basic and redundant. I hope the Grand screens the quality of the tribute shows more. I left at intermission.

My husband and I attended the Gord Bamford concert last night. A lady in front of us wore too much perfume. My husband had to leave our seats as it causes him migraines. The staff was very understanding and ushered us to other seats. Luckily there were others to choose from. Perfumes are toxic to some people. Beautiful place. Well maintained sites with raised 16' x 16' wooden platforms for tents, metal bear boxes (careful about mice), and outhouses. Some of the grouped sites are very close - you're going to meet new friends! Our kids had fun looking for jumping rocks on Big Salmon and Camel Lake - there are a few!

Beautiful park with knowledgeable staff. The trails are clearly marked with no exceptions in the 36 km loop I completed. The trails are varied from wide and clear to low traversed, see photos. The campsites are very close together so if you are looking for privacy at camp, during popular times of year, this may not be the park for you. I toured in late June during a fire ban following the 2023 wildfires. My one issue was the ticks! This area is heavily populated with ticks and I received many bites from full grown and nymphs. Know how to identify and remove ticks before entering this park.

Some describe it as a hidden gem, most likely hidden because it's in a very remote place that isn't easily found. Which means it's often not crowded, and usually available. The forest feels unending, the lakes are clean, clear and beautiful. The trails through the woods wind around trees, hills and flowing creeks, it's the perfect spot to experience the wilderness.

Nestled within the Tett Centre, Juniper Cafe on King St boasts stunning views of Lake Ontario and is a charming spot for a relaxed yet delectable brunch or lunch date. Their ever-changing menu features dishes crafted from locally sourced, fresh ingredients.
Juniper has the best breakfast sandwich i ever had. Their pastries are so tasty also. My favourite is the vegetarian brie sandwich (even though i am not vegetarian). I’ve moved out of Kingston but still think about it all the time and every time i come back it is a must! The view to the lake is amazing and the place is so cozy. One of my favourite spots in the city!

Can’t imagine it has a high quality cafe located in Queen’s University. Thanks Kingstonlicious that we can try their high tea set. Simple but delicious. Doesn’t like high tea in hotel, but food quality is great. Each high tea for 2 comes with 2 tea, 2 full size of sandwiches and 6 different kinds of mini dessert. You can add wine to pair the food too.

A Café on Campus That Feels Like a Lakeside Escape I had zero idea this was even on a campus — and honestly, it still doesn’t feel like it. The setting is so peaceful, so beautifully curated, that it feels more like a hidden retreat than anything remotely academic. And then you look up… that view. A wide-open lakeshore with a gentle breeze, blooming irises lining the path, and the sound of the water just existing quietly in the background. It’s the kind of place that makes you forget the rest of your day even exists. You’re just there, in the moment — coffee in hand, plate full of something fresh and thoughtfully prepared. Speaking of which: the food? Insane. Every bite is a mix of vibrant textures and bold, layered flavors — like someone actually cared about what they were creating. Sure, the prices are on the higher side, but you’re not just paying for a meal. You’re paying for this. A view like this, food that slaps, and a setting that feels more like a lakeside café in some tucked-away coastal town than anything to do with lectures or campus maps? Yeah — worth every cent.

The view here is incredible—you have the coast right in front of you! By chance, the day we visited there was a wedding happening in the open space of the art department next door to the café, which made the atmosphere even more special. The scenery is exceptional, and the lemonade I ordered was absolutely amazing.

Got the box lunch with soup and sandwich, cookie and coffee. Portions were huge! The focaccia was soft, fresh and chewy, A+. The patio has a fabulous view and the ladies serving were quite pleasant.

Visited this Cafe after our Kingston Pen tour. Ordered the buttersquash soup and a chicken sandwich. Both were decent. Service was good as food was brought out to us in the patio. Best thing is the view of the patio. There were a lot of bugs when we went unfortunately

Best sandwiches in town! Excellent service and the most beautiful patio on Lake Ontario! Highly recommend!

I've been meaning to stop in here for quite a while, and I finally had the chance late last week. They were busy when I popped in (it was shortly before 12, so there was a lunch crowd). I grabbed a Mocha and a Salted Chocolate Chip cookie. Service was friendly and quick, and I only had a short wait for my drink. The atmosphere is nice, bright but comfortable. Prices are a bit higher than some other cafés nearby, but overall, I'd say it's worth visiting here at least once.

Nestled in Kingston, Ontario, the Marshlands Conservation Area is a serene natural sanctuary with dog-friendly hiking trails and boardwalks. It offers access to the Rideau Trail and is adjacent to Lake Ontario Park. The area is maintained in its natural state to protect floodplains and wetlands from development. Visitors can enjoy diverse wetland habitats, scenic trails, birdwatching opportunities, and a tranquil escape into nature's embrace.
This is a glorious out and back hike through shaded Woods, and open marsh along a boardwalk (two marshes to cross if you go all the way). Be prepared to tread carefully on some parts of the boardwalk, but otherwise a great place to see all kinds of species.

Do not follow the google directions. Access is from Trailhead Place off King Str. 3 min from the dead end google puts you. Free parking. Free access
Liezl U — Google review
Not sure what the deal is with this place. Visited from out of town and was expecting a nice little hike, maybe see some birds or wildlife. Instead we saw condoms all over the place, shopping carts and trash piles or maybe vacated homeless shelters in the pine stands. The trail itself is next to a herbicide laden golf course... Boardwalk was closed when we went so maybe that would have been worth seeing, but as for the rest of it... would have been better off walking along lake Ontario.
Philip B — Google review
This spot is a peaceful slice of nature right in the city. I love how the Rideau Trail cuts through it, offering a quiet walk with chances to spot birds and soak in the marshy landscape. It’s free, which is a bonus, and feels surprisingly wild for being so close to urban life. That said, the boardwalk is often closed, and the signage could be better. It’s not flashy, but it’s a solid place to unwind.

Very beautiful. Lots of roots but just walk carefully. Two wood bridges. Could use some repair but still very usable. Walked for 1.5 hours

Marshlands is a wonderful area to go exploring.. a quiet walk , a scavenger hunt with the kids. You can do it all here.

Hiking path starting at lake ontario and heading north thru conservation land. Rideau trail uses this path with orange markers. Side loops along the way. Crosses major strees areas with shops and stores but still be prepared when hiking the trails. Very nice forest but people need to practice leave no trace principals, i carried a bag of garbage out that i picked up in under a km the bag was full! Parking area at king st and trailhead place.

Good trail, although its not complete as the bridge is broken between some parts but can be traversed. The trail itself doesn’t end after the railways tracks you either you have to turn back or walk the tracks to the next nearest road, it’s a risk.

The restaurant provides a cozy atmosphere for enjoying meals, with options ranging from shareable appetizers to steak and seafood dishes, fresh salads, gourmet sandwiches, and delectable desserts. Additionally, there are vegetarian and gluten-free choices available.
Dinner under the winter night sky. ☆☆☆☆☆ Excellent service from Marcel, who served hot meals to us as we relaxed within the shelter of the Dome. I highly recommend this dining experience. Blankets and soft pillows are provided to allow personal adjustment within these heated domes. I was surprised by the sound bubble within a dome. I could see other diners conversing but could hear nothing from within our dome. The food was fantastic. See photos.

Amazing experience! The nachos were absolutely delicious—crispy, cheesy, and generously portioned. The burger was juicy and full of flavor. Our server (I wish I remembered his name!) was super attentive and made us feel really well taken care of. Great food, great service—definitely coming back!

Fabulous evening last night with my gal friends. We had a fabulous time around the fire pit table on the patio. There was an error with our reservation and the dining room was full, but the manager fixed it and made it work, and he did so willingly. The food was excellent! Every one of us had a perfectly made meal. Every dish that came out of the kitchen looked perfect. The chef came out to gage the customer’s experience and spoke to our table. The entertainment (singer/guitar player) was fabulous! He rocked it being able to successfully play and sing a wide genres of music of from Bob Marley to Elvis Presley, to Caribbean songs. Excellent service with plenty of servers to manage the dining room. Each server was happy and smiling. Our server was professional and pleasant. Even the duck knew to show up for a good time! It was a fabulous girls night out, so good that I had one too many watermelon martinis. The manager offered to validate my parking overnight so I could leave my car. A BIG thank you to everyone that worked last night, kitchen and dining room.

Lovely restaurant, especially if you sit out on the patio! There was a good selection of a variety of options for food and drinks. I got the agave mule which was tasty and cute! For my meal I got the wharf and feather burger. It was delicious (very large) and the fries were crispy and good! The cheesecake balls were also a yummy dessert option, but the little chocolate bark pieces were very bland, and I probably would've just preferred a slice of cheesecake instead, but they're good for sharing. Overall enjoyed it!
Amber R — Google review
I had high hopes for this restaurant, but my Valentine’s Day experience was a complete disappointment. I made reservations specifically because of their Kingstonlicious menu, which prominently featured both cheese and chocolate fondue along with appealing mains like mushroom risotto and steak. Nowhere on their website did they indicate that this menu would change for Valentine’s Day. To be sure, I even called the restaurant on the day of my reservation to confirm, only to be told that they weren’t offering the cheese fondue because they didn’t have enough pots. A restaurant promoting fondue but lacking the equipment to serve it properly? Unbelievable. They only had four pots, all reserved for their outdoor seating, which had been fully booked before I even made my reservation. This was never disclosed anywhere. I even asked them to note my request for cheese fondue, as I’m pregnant and had been craving it. They said they’d try—but made no promises. When we arrived, the atmosphere was completely underwhelming. The lighting was not romantic at all, and they seated us right by the entrance, next to the host stand. Every time the hotel doors opened, we were hit with a blast of cold air. To make matters worse, the restaurant had no real separation from the hotel lobby, so we constantly heard people going in and out of the elevators. Definitely not the intimate dining experience we had hoped for. As for the food—what a disaster. They refused my fondue request, so my only options were French onion soup (which I couldn’t have as a vegetarian) or fresh mozzarella with tomato and balsamic. I went with the latter. It took 40 minutes to arrive—just for a few slices of tomato and a cheese ball. No bread, no crackers, nothing. I asked for bread because I was starving, and the server said he’d check. He never came back. 15 minutes later, another server randomly brought out some bread—by then, I had already finished eating. The mains took 1.5 hours to arrive. By then, I felt like I was going to pass out from hunger. The restaurant was clearly understaffed, with our waiter also acting as the bartender. At one point, he reassured us the food would be out “soon” but we still waited another 30 minutes after that. Given that the mushroom risotto was a key part of their set menu, they should have been better prepared instead of making everyone wait. It was a total failure in planning. Dessert arrived within 5 minutes of finishing dinner, which felt rushed. Normally, there’s at least a 15-minute pause between courses, but they seemed desperate to turn over tables. The chocolate fondue itself was fine, but nothing special—just melted chocolate with some fruit and crackers. I understand that Valentine’s Day is a busy night for restaurants, but that should be expected. Patrons shouldn’t have to deal with poor planning, miscommunication, and excessive wait times. This was supposed to be a special Valentine’s dinner—our last as a couple before becoming a family—but this restaurant completely ruined the experience. First and last time dining here.

There was a group of 7. The Fish and chips was absolutely perfect. There were 3 sliders per order and there was plenty. I had the House burger a change from fish. It was properly cooked, moist, and the best burger. The tomato Marmalade blended superbly with the grainy mustard, smokey bacon for the best mouthful. I think the burger buns were house made as they were more than the regular bland but really delicious bun to complete the taste. We will definitely return. One of those hidden places in Kingston.

Wanted to go outside but there was no place on the patio and we hadn't reserved on a Friday Night. The outdoor patio had live music and a pretty view, but they were nice enough to accomodate us and let us eat inside. The food was great, it took a while to get there buy they were swamped and had communicated that clearly from the start and during the meal. Great service thank you!

A place with character, excellent choice of cocktails and coffee. Staff are very friendly and eager to guide you about the drink options. Very unique and relaxing atmosphere, cozy, good music and original decor opposite to the copy and paste of big chains. They also have live music. Would recommend 100%. If they had small snacks other than chips would be even better, but is good enough as it is, just….do not go on an empty stomach, or do 🙄

The bar's vintage charm and cozy environment transported me to a bygone era, evoking old memories and sparking new ones. The moment I stepped in, Harvey's warm smile and welcoming demeanor made me feel at home. Soft music filled the air, perfectly complementing the soothing ambiance. The artful decor, complete with vintage circular designs, added to the bar's unique charm. As I sipped on a glass of rich latte, I felt like I was in a haven of relaxation. The music was an impressive blend of genres, creating a sophisticated atmosphere that encouraged conversation and connection. Every detail, from the artwork to the carefully curated playlist, seemed designed to delight the senses and nurture the soul. A must bar to visit I must say.

The atmosphere is absolutely beautiful I loved the soft lighting and gleam of it on the marble bar top. The staff are so upbeat welcoming and lovely, the environment overall is soft and inviting. This establishment has an open food policy that allows patrons to bring along outside cuisine into the dining area which is perfect for particular or selective eaters. I highly recommend this establishment I think it's perfect especially for fall, the back patio is cavernous with a raw stone walling and gorgeous greenery. Regular artistic events are a prime feature of what makes this space so wonderful, including beloved musical artists and gatherings regarding other forms of art. It's giving community.

This place is so adorable and cozy! We stumbled upon it on a Friday evening. We had finished dinner and really wanted to enjoy a cup of coffee in a café vibe but all cafés were closed as it was already 7:30PM. Then we walked around and I liked the atmosphere of musiiki and went in to ask if they serve coffee and the server was delighted and welcomed us in saying they are a café and a bar with live music playing upstairs. What a cute little nook. I loved the vibes. They have board games too downstairs and chill music while the upstairs has the live rock band playing. We didn't order any food just the coffees. They tasted great like premium coffee grounds and they served it in cute mugs which added more to that eccentric and cozy vibe. We will definitely come back here for a cup of late night coffee, which we love ☕️ Thank you!

Nestled in Kingston, Riverhead Brewing Company is a delightful destination for craft beer enthusiasts. This independent brewery strikes a perfect balance between classic and innovative brews, catering to diverse tastes with options ranging from traditional lagers to adventurous fruit-infused sours bursting with flavors like pomegranate and blood orange. Their seasonal offerings reflect the local climate, ensuring there's always something new to savor.
With the Vanier Cup football crowds looking for food/drink after the CIAU final at Queen's U Gaels field, downtown was packed. Thus, we found Riverhead on the way out to the 401 home bound. It was busy but the staff was very accommodating. Their home brew beer was delicious as was the fresh, non-greasy pizza we ordered. Short wait time on both even as the pub was short-staffed. Amazing food, pints and servers who took good care of us. We'll be back!

Wow! A gem of a find for hockey teams. We brought out u13 and parents there for lunch and then our u15 team and parents there for dinner. It was perfect! The events were planned - they had the pizzas primed and ready to go into the oven as we came in so they started coming out super fast after we got there - in time to grab drinks for all. We ate buffet style (minus those who wanted to order separately). And they kept bringing pizza out hot for all the kids and parents to eat until our order was fufilled. We had our own section so other patrons could still enjoy - equipped with a TV. The space is built such that the group can all talk and hear each other. And they even took the boys on a quick tour! Top notch service, great prices, awesome beer and cider for the grown ups. Overall a stress free team meal experience! Thanks again! We will be back.

An Absolute Gem in Kingston! If you’re ever in Kingston, do yourself a favour and make a stop at Riverhead Brewing Company — it’s a must-visit destination for anyone who loves great beer and even better people. Every time I visit, I’m blown away not just by their incredible lineup of beers (seriously, there’s something for every palate here), but by the warmth and friendliness of their staff. They treat you like family from the moment you walk in — whether you’re a local regular or just passing through. The atmosphere is relaxed, welcoming, and just the right kind of lively, making it perfect for catching up with friends, grabbing a flight of their latest brews, or settling in for a pint of your new favourite beer. Their beers are consistently top-notch — well-crafted, bold when they want to be, and balanced in all the right ways. From crisp lagers to juicy IPAs to creative seasonal releases, every pour is done with care. Riverhead Brewing Company isn’t just a brewery — it’s a community hub, and one of those rare places you’ll find yourself wanting to come back to again and again. Can’t recommend this spot enough. Cheers to the amazing staff and unforgettable beers! 🍻

Frontenac County Schools Museum, located in Kingston, offers a fascinating glimpse into the history of one-room schoolhouses in the area. Visitors can explore a replica one-room schoolhouse and a display gallery showcasing various artifacts and objects from these historic educational institutions. The museum also features rotating exhibits such as Boite-en-valise, which presents material culture in two display cases on the second floor of the Marilyn Walker School of Fine and Performing Arts.
This is a very interesting little museum with many historical items to see and a good emphasis on sharing the culture from when one-room schoolhouses were common. Seems like the staff can adjust tours to the amount of time you have and the level of detail you are looking for which is great! Worth visiting if you are interested in the history of the Kingston area, or the history of education.

What a great place to stay! Was a bit weary when I read some of the reviews but then I realized they were older. The rooms were amazing. We had a corner and the views were better than a cruise ship's! We did not want to leave. The bathroom was very large with double sinks. The room itself was also very large! Everything was super clean. Staff was amazingly helpful. Juliette went out of her way to help me with a problem I had with my reservation. She could not put me more at ease. The front desk staff was so pleasant-- we felt very welcome! Will definitely be recommending this great hotel in this fun town to visit!

Our recent stay at the Delta Hotels Kingston Waterfront was truly exceptional – a genuine highlight of our trip. From the moment we arrived, it was clear this hotel prioritizes guest comfort and goes above and beyond to deliver outstanding service. What truly set this hotel apart was the unparalleled level of personalized care, especially concerning our daughter's disability. When I alerted the staff to her needs, the Assistant Manager herself immediately stepped in, personally carrying our baggage to our room. This incredibly thoughtful and proactive gesture made us feel genuinely cared for and welcomed from the very first minute. Beyond this, we were consistently provided with water and vitamin droppers throughout our stay, a minor detail that speaks volumes about their attention to guest well-being and a remarkable understanding of individual needs. Beyond the incredible service, the hotel itself delivered on all fronts. Our room was impeccably clean, and the beds were wonderfully comfortable, ensuring restful nights after busy days. We also appreciated the efficiency in meeting our requests; when we asked for more towels, they were promptly delivered to our door. And the view! Waking up to, or winding down with, the amazing waterfront scenery was simply breathtaking and added so much to our overall experience. Overall, our stay at the Delta Hotels Kingston Waterfront was nothing short of perfect. It's rare to find a hotel that combines such top-tier comfort and amenities with genuinely caring, proactive, and personalized service. We highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Kingston and would absolutely not hesitate to stay here again.

Absolutely Fantastic Stay at Delta Kingston! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Delta Kingston is hands down one of the cleanest and most impressive hotels we’ve stayed at in Canada. From the moment we arrived, the experience was top-notch. John at the front desk was incredibly helpful and welcoming — he even surprised us with a complimentary “spin to win,” and we scored two free breakfast vouchers! 🙌🏻 The washrooms were spotless, the rooms pristine, and every single staff member we interacted with was warm and friendly. The location is unbeatable — just steps away from all the best spots to explore in Kingston. The only small surprise was the overnight parking fee of $36, but honestly, it’s well worth it given the quality, service, and overall experience the hotel offers. Highly recommend staying here — we’ll definitely be back! 👌🏻✨

Rooms are nice and well appointed, and very clean. Beds are comfortable. Plenty of outlets. Towels should be better. They are not threadbare, but they are thinner then what you expect from a $400 room. Odd thing about this hotel.... No easy entrance from street. You can come in the back door by walking downstairs through a service entrance, through the outdoor seating for the restaurant (before 9pm), or then you have to go out to the street and using the car ramp to walk in through the garage. Which can be sweltering hot in the summer. Parking here is bad. $38CAD, which is expensive, esp for self-parking, and, the spots are really tight. Worst thing is that so many people don't even try to park well, so they take up 2 spaces. So just finding a spot is a hassle. Reception and other staff are super friendly and helpful, but this is Canada, so of course they are! ;) And, there IS staff... Not a "contactless" property.

Spent a night away at this hotel and it was wonderful!!! The room was spotless, the views of the harbour were beautiful and watching the boats coming in and out were just so fun to watch couldn’t ask for a better location in downtown Kingston to stay at close proximity to everything. Pool and hot tub are a bonus with water views also. Room wasn’t ready when we got there which was fine but after waiting close to hour and half for a phone call I went to the desk and asked if it was ready and they said it was. Downfall is no complementary breakfast, coupons or something for there restaurant in the hotel for paying guests would be beneficial.

Very convenient location! Located on the water, accessible to downtown Kingston. Parking had a fee, but there was plenty of covered parking spots. The room was spacious and had a mini fridge. The pool was heated and had a great Lake view. The hot tub was out of service when we went. I would definitely recommend.

Rooms were clean and well outfitted. On site amenities nice. Seemed like the staff wasn't used to handling the volume business on a Saturday night. A little messy and disheveled in the restaurants, more focused on talking amongst themselves than taking care of customers. We sat at the bar and the staff very friendly, but we were only customers at bar and had to repeatedly ask for refills on drinks, to order etc. Staff very nice, but seemed understaffed and nit able to give proper attention. Creative drinks and decent food.

What an absolutely stunning inn! I had the pleasure of staying in the Tower Room, and it was beautiful, charming and peaceful. The bed was comfortable, the shower was excellent, and the overhead fan made for a perfect night’s sleep. I really appreciated the thoughtful extras like sparkling water, snacks, and a coffee and tea station in the reception area. Continental breakfast was yummy with hot breakfast available for a little bit extra. The staff were warm and welcoming, and parking was a breeze. I will definitely stay here again.

Beautiful Inn with lovely staff who responded well when we had an electrics issue in the room. Fabulous breakfast (continental) fresh fruit cheese pastries and tea and coffee on demand. Great location can walk everywhere and handy as parking included. Would love to come back at Christmas when it’s all decorated.

Absolutely beautiful inn. Staff were very friendly and helpful. I loved the blueberry scones that we had when we arrived . They were at the check in desk. No charge. The location was fantastic. We could walk to everything. The breakfast was very nice. Everything was fresh and delicious.

Kids and I went to Kingston for the weekend to celebrate my birthday. I booked our stay ages ago, and mentioned it was for my birthday. When we got to our room, they had a birthday card, a little bottle of bubbly, and a giant brownie waiting for us. So sweet! Our room was clean and comfortable. Our breakfast every morning was delicious and fresh, and we loved that you could get coffe/tea/hot chocolate any time up to 9:30pm. Also, it's in a great location. We were able to walk everywhere we wanted to go. Really want to go back and stay with my husband now.

We stayed at this lovely inn to celebrate my mom's 70th birthday, and it truly exceeded our expectations. The inn is adorable and charming, with a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful, making us feel right at home. Its fantastic location made exploring Kingston effortless. The continental breakfast was delicious and satisfying. A special surprise awaited us in our room to celebrate my mom's birthday, which was a thoughtful and appreciated touch. We loved our stay and will absolutely return next time we visit Kingston!

Our group of 14, friends from University days and spouses, thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Hochelaga Inn. The rooms were comfortable, the breakfast just right, and all the people working in the reception area were more than friendly and helpful. We highly recommend Hochelaga Inn to everyone. Lovely, comfortable inn within easy walking to Queens University and downtown Kingston. We had a room on the main floor which was very comfortable however, it was noisy. We heard the breakfast bar being set up around 6:30, guests trooping in and out from the outside door right beside the room. The buffet breakfast was really good. Staff were very friendly and welcoming. Would highly recommend this inn for the value - request a room upstairs when booking.

LOVED this inn! Stayed in the cottage house and it was beautiful. Clean, comfortable and one of the best mattresses ever! Friendly staff, wonderful breakfast and so close to the shopping streets (quick 15 min walk). Loved staying in such a historical house and I loved the creaking floors, such vibes. Would definitely stay here again.

Kingston Waterfront is a classic landmark offering a magnificent view of Lake Ontario. The 8km waterfront pathway provides ample space to enjoy the beauty and is conveniently located near downtown. Heading west along the pathway leads to Breakwater Park, known for its stunning sunset views. This picturesque area features parkland, level trails, and connects several top attractions in Kingston.
What an amazing place and waterfront! I wish Belleville could have something close to what Kingston has. There is so much more to do, and the waterfront trail is perfect. You can see Old Fort Henry and so much more. We'll be back soon, and I would recommend this place to everyone 💯. Give it a try, and you won't be disappointed!

Very cozy little town, filled with good vibes and great music when we went. Make sure to check the public market as well for artisans products and fresh produce. The waterfront is really relaxing whether you want to take the view in with a coffee or simply enjoying a good book on one of the beach chairs.

Beautiful 😍 The whole area is wonderful. There are a lot of restaurants and so many nice people. If you are into walking along the waterfront, then this is a must. It is not an area with attractions but it's clean and very upbeat. There's are a LOT of students, so the noise level is way up there. If you don't like it loud and very busy, they go during the week because the weekend is crazy. Great for drone footage, too. I will definitely visit again.

The Secret Garden Inn - Bed & Breakfast is a charming B&B filled with antiques and stately rooms, featuring a cozy lounge set in a turret and a garden with a koi pond. Located in Kingston's historic Sydenham Ward, this Queen Anne Victorian-style home was built in 1888 by leather merchant John McKay. It is just blocks away from Queens University, bustling shopping districts, fine dining, and the picturesque Lake Ontario waterfront.
We (3 couples) stayed at The Secret Garden Inn this past weekend, & we all want to come back to experience it again ! Perfect in every aspect ! Beautiful century home & gardens, with a lovely patio, & walkable to downtown, so we never needed to worry about parking during the busy Buskers Fest weekend. Our breakfasts were amazing, & we were all drooling over the freshly baked blueberry scones ! The staff that we met were all awesome: Evan, Cyrus, & Josh were so attentive & helpful. And the housekeeper (sorry, didn't get her name) was very sweet. We'll definitely be coming back !

My husband and I stayed one night in the Coverdale room for our anniversary and had a wonderful experience. We were greeted by Cyrus upon our arrival who gave us a tour of the inn and shared a bit of the history. The inn and our room were beautifully decorated. For breakfast we had two options to choose from, both choosing the poached egg on a stuffed mushroom that was delicious. The inn was in perfect walking distance to downtown and the waterfront so we did not have to drive while there. The bed & pillows were very comfortable and the room came with two house coats. Overall we very much enjoyed our stay!

We enjoyed an amazing high tea experience at the Secret Garden Inn this past Saturday. Natasha, the owner, was beyond lovely and so very engaging. She shared the history of the home and then walked us through the locally sourced tea choices and the delicious in-house created food on the beautiful locally made tea tiers. An amazing experience from start to finish. We will definitely return!
Nora D — Google review
From the first contact with the owner, until the last minute of our stay, The Secret Garden Inn staff made our time there amazing. Natasha, one of the owners, made sure we wanted for nothing, checking in on us regularly. The staff as well did everything they could to accommodate us, right up to offering us breakfast service on the outside terrace next to our room, with stairs that led down to a flower-filled courtyard. The food was incredible, and I highly recommend you take advantage of High Tea and the evenings dinner option of the 5 course fondue meal while you’re there. Both are available to be booked ahead of time, and the breakfast menu is put out during the day for your included breakfast. Our room was very comfortable with all the usual amenities, along with stained glass windows that glowed in the morning sun. Downtown was just a short walk away through neighbourhoods of older buildings and historic landmarks. We truly enjoyed our time there and plan on going back again.

Wow, wow, wow! Another amazing stay with my family at this beautiful historical inn! From the moment you arrive you are greeted with the blooming garden and the nicest service. Josh goes above and beyond to make everyone feel welcomed and I can’t say how much this is appreciated. Being in the service industry myself, this level of quality service is hard to come by these days. Josh is so friendly, attentive, and engaging for everyone. Evan was only there when we checked in but was also amazing and friendly. The owner is also a ray of sunshine providing great local bars and restaurants. Everything from the property, the beautifully crafted breakfast each morning, to the friendly service makes this stay what it is. This place is a must stay hidden gem in an amazing location downtown Kingston!!

Spent the weekend at the Secret Garden Inn with some friends enjoying RMC reunion weekend. The experience did not disappoint! The rooms were beautiful, clean, with excellent amenities. We had breakfasts and lunches there and the food was delicious with so much attention paid to every detail. Above all, the hospitality truly sets this place apart. The staff are lovely and took great care of us. I will always stay here on any return trip to Kingston. Well done Secret Garden Inn! 👏

We stayed at The Secret Garden Inn on the final night of a 2 week vacation. It was a fantastic way to wrap up our trip. Our room was beautiful and our private bathroom was luxurious. We were walking distance from the waterfront and had our choice of many restaurants for dinner. We took advantage of the many photo opportunities at the Inn and the surrounding neighborhood. We loved having our first cup of morning coffee on the beautiful front porch overlooking the incredible gardens and our al fresco breakfast was delicious! I highly recommend this beautiful Inn for anyone travelling in the Kingston area.

We absolutely loved the Penthouse suite at the Whitney Manor. The suite was bigger than we expected and had everything that we needed. We loved the way it was decorated and the bed was really comfortable. The manor is only 10 minutes from downtown Kingston which is perfect. Quiet evening at the manor and shopping and dining in Kingston during the day. We hope to be back soon.

This is an occasion where I don't like to share because this is a special place that we'd like to keep to ourselves. But that would be wrong. We visited recently with our two teenage boys and the Chapel Suite was ideal. They had their own space, and their own beds and our son, who is a chef, was able to prepare a delightful meal in the well-equipped kitchen. It's a refuge, a sanctuary and is very well maintained. The beds are great, the cleanliness impeccable and the location ideal. And the responsiveness of our hosts was top-rate. Highly recommended.
Don K — Google review
We stayed at this property for 2 nights, in the Chapel suite. It was easy to find and located with easy access to Kingston. The bed was comfortable, and everything else we needed was provided. The weather was wet and cold, and unfortunately the ducted air heating didn't really do the job, as well as being noisy with the fan switching on throughout the night. The exposed stone walls also did not make the living room feel cosy. Obviously these points are related to how the Chapel was converted. Generally we enjoyed our stay, and in better weather this property would feel more welcoming. It was very quiet, being away from the main road, and yes, you can hear the birds while laying bed. The grounds are well-maintained. Full instructions telling you what to do and not do are provided so we had no reason to ask for help. Checking in and out was very easy! We have an electric car, and there is a charging point at the property but we had no reason to use it, with high capacity charging points available in Kingston. Overall, the suite did everything we needed.
David B — Google review
Beautiful and comfortable property that has a very homey feeling. We had 2 bedroom suite and it was great for 5 people. One room with a queen bed and another bedroom with a king bed and a single bed. The kitchen was fully equipped with tea and great Nespresso coffee machine and coffee selections. Will definitely go back.

We were celebrating our 23rd anniversary I’m decided to take a quick week end trip somewhere different. We found this gem while googling bed-and-breakfast it did not disappoint. The pictures looked like it was more in the country than what it actually was. It’s actually nestled in a cute little residential area just outside of the city very quiet. Only 10 minutes from downtown Kingston. Check-in with seamless super easy, beautiful when we walked in super clean all the amenities of home that you would need, The grocery store is about a 15 minute 20 minute drive away from Whitney Manor. All this was laid out both on the website and in Pamphlet in our suite. I highly recommend visiting some of the staff’s pics for restaurants through Kingston. Everyone we chose from the list was amazing. Definitely coming back again.
Dora R — Google review
Whitney Manor exceeded our expectations. We booked the Chapel 2 suite for a girl's weekend and it was great. Space to cook, eat and relax together. It's very convenient to have two bathrooms. The heated floor was the perfect touch, balancing out the cold stone walls. It would have been nice if the bedroom with multiple beds had a door for a quiet sleep in. All in all a great value for a high end stay.
Jackie S — Google review
My husband and I have now stayed in all five suites. I would have a difficult time choosing just one as my favorite. All rooms are extremely clean and very well equipped. We have not needed service while we stay, which is an amazing thing. Every detail has been taken care of before you arrive. I love the privacy and peace and quiet. We have already recommended the Whitney Suites many many times and will continue to do so. We can't wait to visit again soon!!

The Kingston Public Market is a weekly event that takes place in Springer Market Square. There are an assortment of vendors selling fresh produce and locally made products. This market is a great way to get your hands on some local food, and it's also a great place to find unique handmade gifts.
A great market and experience! Loved the vibe and music.. very unique shops and some items on sale are a steal! Great choice of food as well. A must visit if you're in Kingston.

I love this farmers market. So fun to look around and great vendors!
Emily J — Google review
Been visiting the market every year for past 30 years. Every merchant was friendly and inviting today, except a merchant by the name of “ Edible Earth”. Very rude and uninviting to many potential customers before and after us. She yelled at anyone trying to see her products. She seems new to the area. Her prices were 3x what you could buy from nearby stores as well. Avoid the merchant by name of “ Edible Earth”. She is from GTA area. Shop local. Shop from Kingston.

Very small (perhaps it was the time of year: September) but beautiful setting and friendly vendors
Sarah S — Google review
Sorry but we drove an hour for this market, on a Thursday afternoon in August and arrived one hour before closing only to find one remaining vendor, already starting to pack up as well. Disappointing. Arrived 4pm. Posted hours are until 5. Some vendors stay until 6, we were told. But not even close.

The Backyard Patio Bar & Grill is a new arrival to Kingston’s “bar and patio” scene, situated in the heart of downtown. The large patio space with tables makes it a great spot for any summer evening – be sure to check out this newcomer!
Wonderful place to go! Cute setup, great food and best of all our dog could come along.

It was a bad experience to never go again. The manager kicks us out. After waiting more than an hour for the meal and one of the dishes arrived cold and flavorless, the waitress asked us if we wanted the bill twice, and we said no. Then the manager came (I don't know what) to ask again if we want the bill. At the insistence and uncomfortableness of the situation, we said yes. After paying and continuing to talk, we ordered a couple more drinks and noticed that all the tables had candles except ours. So we had to request a candle in three opportunities. It's not worth buying sangria it is 80% ice Update July 25th. The person who responded to the review, I don't know if they are confused or missing the truth to clean up the negative review. I've never been to that place. Only 1 of the 4 people who were there had gone on one occasion. They lack customer attention. They could take a course at least since an apology is not even read in their response.
Sebastián C — Google review
Nice outdoor patio with a good atmosphere. Loved this spot last summer. Went last night and the fries were really bad, especially when you add that they were $10 after tax for a modest serving of regular old fries. I should have said something to the server because they were really not enjoyable to eat.
Justin B — Google review
Dont bother!! Terrible experience. Without exaggeration, it took over two hours from the time we sat down to the time we got our food. They have a horrible service model where the waiters seem to be mixing the drinks. Makes for incredibly slow service. I might say that this was a one off, but the same thing happened the last time I was there. To add insult to injury, two people in our party got incorrect orders. Until they can get their act together, I would say, "don't bother". I think you can find equally or better food with far less frustration elsewhere.
Chris — Google review
Very noisy due to the construction site next door; obviously not their fault but also still affected the experience. The service was average I guess. The food was probably the worst part. Double Smash Burger was decent but nothing special. Fries were what seemed like leftovers from earlier mixed together with other way undercooked ones, salted to the extreme (I usually add salt but had to scrape some off of most of them). $4 cola was almost flat and found out the hard way they're not free refills. Server never asked how the food was, nor did the owner who was wandering around the whole time. Pretty disappointing overall, would not go back.
Dave C — Google review
Amazing staff and service! The manager came to us and asked we were looked after. Was very friendly and also gave us some good recommendations. Our server was super friendly too. The area provides an incredible boating experience with options ranging from lively spots like Potters beach to the serene cove of Picton island for swimmers.

Visiting the 1000 Islands was an unforgettable experience. Nestled along the St. Lawrence River, this region offers breathtaking natural beauty and a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The highlight of our trip was the scenic cruise, which was both relaxing and incredibly enjoyable. The water was calm, and the views of the islands, dotted with charming cottages and grand historic mansions, were absolutely stunning. The cruise provided an excellent perspective of the area, allowing us to appreciate the unique geography and rich history of the 1000 Islands. One of the most memorable sights was Boldt Castle, a romantic and majestic structure that seemed straight out of a fairytale. The narration during the cruise was informative, offering interesting stories and facts about the islands, their names, and the families who live there. There were plenty of photo opportunities, and the weather was perfect—sunny with a gentle breeze. The boat was comfortable, and the staff were friendly and professional, making the experience even more enjoyable. Whether you’re a nature lover, a history enthusiast, or just looking for a relaxing adventure, the 1000 Islands cruise is a must-do. It’s a perfect getaway for families, couples, or solo travelers looking to unwind and take in some of Canada’s most beautiful scenery.
