Parks
Irchester Country Park, spanning over 200 acres of mixed woodland in a former iron ore quarry, offers a perfect blend of nature conservation and recreational activities. The park features three trails for leisurely walks amidst mature foliage, an adventure course with zip lines, and a quarry-themed play area for kids. Visitors can also explore the railway museum on select days and indulge in locally sourced food at the Quarrymans Rest Cafe.
Lovely place for circular walks or you can go off-piste and explore the numerous paths through the woods. Great provision for children with a huge playground and other climbing activities along the trails. Dinosaur Path is a favourite. Nice snack area with good coffee! This park also gives lots of insights into its industrial heritage. Unlimited parking for £3.60 at time of review using PayByPhone app. Love it here. 🦖

Love Irchester country park it's got lots of different walks, great accessibility to most however an electric chair is a benefit as it can be hilly in places. The are surprises along the way for the children. There is a cafe, a counter outside for ice creams, teas, coffee, hot chocolate, sausage rolls, crisps, pasties and cakes. With picnic benches around to sit on. Beautiful play ground for the children. Tree top climb and great toilet facilities for all abilities

Irchester Country Park is a fantastic place for a family day out! It's a very big, beautiful, and family-friendly park with plenty of natural areas to explore. There are lovely walking trails, wooded areas, and open spaces that make it perfect for picnics or just enjoying nature. The large play area is great for kids, and there’s plenty of parking available, which makes things super convenient. It's definitely worth a visit if you're looking for a peaceful outdoor escape!
Rifki A — Google review
A really well-kept country park with plenty of parking space for a reasonable price. The huge playground for the children, dino path and (paid) climbing attraction can guarantee a day full of attractions for families. We visited on Saturday so we missed the narrow gauge train museum (open only on Sundays). However, we had a fantastic couple of hours in there!
Aneta D — Google review
A lovely park with a variety of paths. Well maintained and accessible. Plenty of parking at only £3.50 for the day.

What an amazing country park! Various trails available, large playground with lots of space for a picnic, cafe and toilets and plenty of parking. There are also treehouses for kids to play in the forest - thoroughly enjoyed the visit!

Great for dogs and children lots of different walks. Plenty of parking £3.50 for 12 hours. Toilets and cafe on site. Good play areas and lots of wild life. Well kept and maintained.

Beautiful country park, perfect for walking and cycling. The children’s play area is clean and well-equipped, making it ideal for families. Plenty of parking is available, with gates closing at 5 pm, but there’s additional parking outside. Highly recommended for a day out!

Parks
Sywell Country Park, located near the village of Sywell, offers a picturesque 2.5-mile walk around its former reservoir. The park features walking paths, a butterfly garden, a cafe, and a play area for children. Visitors can explore the Waterworks Heritage Trail to learn about the park's history. The flat and accessible paths make it perfect for families and dog walkers to enjoy the stunning autumn foliage reflected in the still waters of the reservoir.
We recently visited Sywell Country Park and found it to be one of Northampton’s most enjoyable outdoor destinations. The park offers ample parking with a fee of £3.50 for up to 12 hours, making it a convenient choice for a full-day visit. Among its attractions, the children’s play area is engaging, while the butterfly garden adds a charming touch to the experience. However, the true highlight is the stunning reservoir, which offers a peaceful and scenic setting for walking or running. The walkway around the reservoir is well-maintained, with plenty of benches along the way—ideal for rest breaks or simply enjoying the view. The refreshing breeze from the water adds to the park's serene atmosphere. Overall, Sywell Country Park is a fantastic spot for families, nature lovers, and anyone looking to unwind in a beautiful natural setting.

good walk about 6000 steps. dig and kids enjoy it parking is cheap and safe. I haven't used the cafe but seem to have lots of options

How lovely! Nice and local to Northampton centre. 15mins away with good parking at £3.50 for 12hours. Well maintained paths, playground and a cafe with vegan treats. Thoroughly enjoyed the views. We even saw some grazing cows.
Melissa. N — Google review
A wonderful, quiet place to relax, stroll, spend time with family, or have a picnic. A beautiful place full of nature, unfortunately regularly devastated by trash left by visitors.
Dominika K — Google review
A really lovely country park, route around the reservoir is just under 5K and really pleasant. Ice cream in the cafe afterwards was top notch. Paying for parking can be fiddly if you haven’t got change .. Apple Pay on my phone wouldn’t work, but was able to sort via the paybyphone app. A great place to relax and spend a few hours.
Richard H — Google review
Sywell Country Park is the sort of place where dogs think they’ve died and gone to heaven. Long winding paths, open spaces to tear around, and a reservoir big enough to make them dream of a career in wildfowl management. If your dog loves a good walk, this is basically Disneyland. You’ll see everything from tiny dachshunds strutting like they own the place to labradors leaping into the water with the grace of a cannonball. The trails are great for humans too. They’re easy enough that you can stroll along happily with a coffee, but varied enough to make you feel like you’ve actually achieved something by the end. There are woods, lakeside stretches and enough benches to stage a sit down protest if your legs give up. Families love it here as well. The kids’ play areas are the sort of contraptions that would make most adults secretly want to have a go, and there’s enough space for little ones to burn off every ounce of sugar they’ve ever eaten. Meanwhile, parents can collapse with a coffee from the café and watch the chaos unfold. Speaking of the café, it’s a handy pit stop and the cake portions are generous enough to make you forgive the occasional goose giving you side eye for not sharing. Bring snacks, bring patience and bring a camera because there’s always something entertaining going on – whether it’s a spaniel launching itself joyfully into the reservoir or a toddler trying to befriend a duck. Sywell is funny, friendly and full of life. It’s the perfect mix of nature, play and people watching, and you always leave with a happy dog, tired kids and the smug glow of having “done a proper walk.” Five stars and one honorary medal to the geese for keeping everyone on their toes.

Wicksteed Park, established in 1921, is the second oldest theme park in England. It features around 30 rides and four main themed areas including a playground, fairground with fun rides and arcade, lakeside for boating and scenic walks, and an arena with thrilling rides like the Revolving Paratrooper and Roller Coaster. Originally owned by Mr.
A great day out or camping venue for younger kids aged 6-10. We have two boys aged 7&8. There's plenty to do in the public park (swings, roundabouts, slides, climbing frames etc..) just pay for parking which is about £7 for the whole day. We'll worth it. If you come for longer you can buy tickets to the theme park and rides which is again targeted at 8 to 10 yo. Would suit boys and girls. There's also parks, long walks, swan, ponds, and other stuff to explore.
Stuart H — Google review
Had a lovely day, it's about fun, simple rides and the park land. Food was not too expensive either, the baked potato in the cafe was quickly consumed with no complaint. We went to Alton Towers last year and whilst not comparable, this cost about the same as the food there, and in truth we had more fun. There is plenty to improve, not least the free playground and some of the buildings, but go with the right level of expectation and enjoy your day, helping to protect this little bit of heritage.
Pse W — Google review
I was lucky enough to win four tickets to Wicksteed Park in a competition, and I went there yesterday. What a fantastic day it was! I absolutely loved my visit and would highly recommend the park to anyone looking for a full day of fun. The first thing that impressed me was how enormous the park is. There's so much space to explore that you never feel cramped or are fighting for room. The size of the park gives you a sense of freedom and the opportunity to discover something new around every corner. Besides the space, there's a huge amount to do. The variety of entertainment is impressive, with attractions for all ages. Whether you're looking for big thrills or something more gentle, there's something for everyone. We spent the whole day there and still felt like there were more things to see and do, which is a big plus. For me, Wicksteed Park is the perfect place for a fun family day out. The atmosphere is great, and with so much to do, it's impossible to get bored. It was an experience I'll remember fondly.

Absolutely amazing day yesterday. Came with my son and my two granddaughters. Purchased wristbands for all. Great price for family of four..unlimited rides which we all..especially girls took advantage of. As a grandmother of a child with svi I cannot recommend this park enough. From staff to patrons of this park everyone was amazing and so respectful to my granddaughter. Staff were aware my granddaughter required help by her dad or myself to get onto rides..and were extremely courteous. Gentleman on carousel was the best. Thank you sir! Unfortunately daddy and I felt a little unwell after a ride..you probably heard our screams asking for help during ride which my..obviously caring granddaughters..laughed incessantly.. Will definitely return. Thank you guys for an amazing day

Great day. Great value. Great staff. Have selected 5star for rooms service and location as whole day was a 5 star experience. The haunted walk was scary! Our 2yr old, but almost 3yr old.104cm, grandson loved it and got more confident so by the end of the day went on the high swings! We didn't eat there - it wasn't silly money but we had brought our own.

Staff were absolutely amazing enjoyed evey ride i went on with my friend. Favourite had to be the slide where a lovely girl called skye, made the ride even more enjoyable just by not only helping understand the ride but her cheerfull demeanor made the ride soo much more entertaining. Shout out to the meerkats who were adorable as ever.
Srlion — Google review
A great park for toddlers, with both open play areas and an indoor play zone. Kids can enjoy various rides (though some may not be suitable for children under 3. Adults can enjoy walking or running around the park. There’s also a small train ride that’s fun for all ages.

Awful Oktoberfest for 2025. False advertisement with their posters and you left feeling like it was a scam: The event was advertised as a lively and festive Oktoberfest experience, but unfortunately, it fell far short of expectations. When we attended, there was only one food truck, no decorations, and an almost empty room with a band performing, where the only thing festive about them was the generic costumes they wore. While the musicians did their best, the overall atmosphere did not resemble the vibrant Oktoberfest celebration that had been promoted. £20pp for nothing. When a refund was requested the customer feedback team were very unprofessional and you’d be luck to get a reply.

Lake
Nestled in the picturesque Nene Valley of Northamptonshire, Stanwick Lakes is a sprawling 750-acre nature reserve and outdoor attraction that promises an unforgettable experience for all. This enchanting destination seamlessly blends adventure with tranquility, featuring expansive play areas perfect for families seeking fun and excitement. Nature enthusiasts will delight in the vast open spaces and scenic paths that meander through the landscape, offering stunning views where serene waters reflect clear blue skies.
Lovely walks around the lakes, remember to wear your welly boots, great play areas for the kids, coffee available but be prepared to wait, the coffee shop gets busy
Therese R — Google review
Stanwick Lakes: A Nature Lover's Haven successfully blends conservation, recreation, and education. It’s not a manicured country park but a wonderfully wild and spacious place to enjoy the outdoors. Perfect for a full day out with the family, a refreshing bike ride, or a quiet walk with the dog. The car parking fee (which goes towards maintaining the reserve) can catch first-timers off guard, so it's best to budget for that. While there's a nice café, it can get very busy on weekends. Many visitors bring a picnic to enjoy at one of the numerous benches or designated areas.
Juliet O — Google review
Grate place to take the kids it's free you just pay for the carpark. Adults will love this place to lots of walks around the lakes and plenty of places to get ice cream. Tea. Coffee . And food in the visitors centre.
Stephen M — Google review
Great place for walks and wildlife. Paths are well kept and lots of attractions for young and old. Winter and summer. Some flooding after heavy rains over a period of days.

Lovely place for family to go with the kids , outdoor play and walks back to nature and lots more , well worth the visit
Marie H — Google review
Wonderful open space with lots of activities aimed at young children, we visited today as they had a viking experience on during Easter half term. Our children enjoyed dressing up, making swords and shields and the activity pack was a lovely touch. The indoor cafe offers a great variety of hot and cold drinks, treats and pocket money toys.
Emma — Google review
Stanwick lakes is a nicely landscaped former set of gravel pits along the A45 running between Rushden and Raunds. There are safe but adventurous play areas for children and lovely level well maintained paths that lead you on walks of various lengths taking in waterside vistas, woodlands and riverside walks. There is a per vehicle charge of £3.60 for all day which makes it good value for a family looking to spend a day. For me as a single pensioner it is a little too expensive to visit daily though it is possible to buy a year pass, I think this was around £35 but they also charge £5 for the initial card which again as a pensioner is a bit steep. There is a visitor centre that sells the usual savouries and drinks as well as souvenirs. All in all it is a lovely place but I’m priced out of regular visits especially as there are free places which are similar nearby.

Castle Ashby Gardens, located near Northampton, is a stunning 35-acre garden set within a 10,000-acre estate. The gardens feature various styles including Italian gardens with beautiful beds and borders, a butterfly garden filled with insect-friendly plants, an arboretum, and nature trails. Visitors can also explore the 1872 orangery and enjoy the menagerie with meerkats and marmosets. Additionally, there's a children's play area to entertain younger guests.
BEAUTIFUL! I can't believe there is a hidden gem like this in Northampton, went out with a few friends and the gardens were so stunning, we had a lovely picnic. The gardens were so nice that we forgot there was a zoo, definitely making a second trip 🙌
S.J K — Google review
not bad, but not very interesting, not worth paying for the entrance fee family ticket 37 pounds. My opinion the ticket price is 5 pounds per person or free. Come to have a picnic, but they don't allow you to play bambinton. I don't know why.
Volodymyr — Google review
First visit here and what a beautiful place. Lovely gardens, lots to see. Friendly staff. Saw a hummingbird moth whilst visiting, so that was a bonus. Cafe in site, and space for a picnic if you want to take your own food.
Tracey S — Google review
well-kept facility. beautifully much to see. no one will be bored. large playground for children, animals. area for dogs without leashes. delicious cookies in the caffee.
Karolina C — Google review
Nice gardens with interesting architecture. One bit was a former greenhouse now with a fountain, followed by a Orangery. There is a pair of Birmingham Houses. Also a Menagerie a mini zoo with Meerkat and other animals. There is a café near the car park, a play area for kids, and a ice cream hut with friendly staff. You can see the house but it's not open to the public, but the parish church is open for a quick look around. Also an arboretum of trees to walk though with pair of old stone bridges with a long pond. One bit was dry in summer 2025 after the drought.
Elliott B — Google review
Absolutely stunning and peaceful estate, perfect for a family day out. The grand tree-lined driveway creates a beautiful first impression, with free parking, clean facilities, and a welcoming tearoom offering drinks, cakes, and light meals on the terrace. The grounds surround Castle Ashby, a magnificent Elizabethan-style mansion built in the late 16th century, later enhanced with classical architectural features. Its historic presence adds depth and elegance to the entire visit. A short walk from the entrance takes you to the orangery, built in the 19th century in a refined Victorian Italianate style. Inside, you'll find a tranquil pond with fish, lush exotic plants, and classical sculptures that match the era's aesthetics. Nearby stands the medieval Church of St Mary Magdalene, connected by a lovely woodland path that leads to an 18th-century terracotta bridge. Just past the bridge, there is a covered observation hut with two large benches and an information panel to help you identify local fish and bird species in the water below. Continuing your walk, you’ll reach a charming small animal zoo—undoubtedly the highlight for many visitors. The meerkat enclosure is a joy to watch, and you’ll also see parrots, goats, pigs, ducks, and tiny monkeys. After leaving the zoo, the path leads through a lavender-filled alley and loops back toward the orangery. The full visit takes about two hours, and bringing a picnic blanket and snacks is highly recommended. The grounds close at 4 PM, and entry is £14 per adult, which is well worth it for the history, nature, and relaxing atmosphere. A truly memorable and enriching experience.
Andrzej S — Google review
A beautifully scenic place, such a hidden gem and not too far away from Northampton Town centre. You could easily spend a few hours here, but be aware gates close at 4pm. There's lots to see and do, and even a small cafe on entry! Perfect for a summer's day out. Adult tickets cost £13 online, or £14 if you just show up. There is a small but lovely shopping area 5 minutes around the corner too!
James G — Google review
Visited on a Monday afternoon and thoroughly enjoyrd, walked round with a smile on my face. Beautiful grounds and planting, including orangery, arboretum and menagerie of animals. A cafe serving lunch and cakes at the entrance too. Would highly recommend.

Barnwell Country Park, nestled in the heart of the Nene Valley near Oundle, offers 15 hectares of picturesque lakes, riverbanks, and meadows to explore. The park features three way-marked waterside trails, a fenced playground for children, and two fishing lakes. Families can enjoy numerous picnic spots while taking in the wealth of wildlife. It's a popular destination for families and dog walkers alike.
Great country park with playground area for children, cafe, observatory and a lot of places for picnic. £3.50 for the car park for whole day. There is a fishing available too. Lovely park for families and dog walkers.

Lovely walks around the lakes, very peaceful. Duck feed was 50p a bag and they came rushing for it which was lovely. Great for dogs and kids. Nice cafe with great selection of sweet and savoury treats.
Jo M — Google review
A brilliant small country park, perfect for children. My wife and I, along with our toddler, visited for the first time mid-week for an autumn adventure and had a lovely day. The car park isn’t lined, making it easy to park, leaving plenty of room. The park itself isn’t very big, so it doesn’t take long to walk around; however, walkers do have the option to walk out of the park and into Oundle. The trails within the park are fun, with lots of wooden structures dotted around. Most importantly, the play area is excellent. The 360-degree rotating excavator was a personal favourite! There is a zip line, good-sized climbing frames, swings, including a duo swing, slides, a few water play pieces, and a separate toddler play area by the café. We had an amazing day and will definitely be returning in the near future.

Beautiful park. Family, child and more importantly dog friendly 😉. Lakes and river for the dog to paddle in. Plenty of benches to sit on and places for picnics. Oh and there’s parking too! Lovely place to visit and only a short walk to town for refreshments.

Amazing park for a nature walk. They also have duck feed for 50p and free loos. Parking is available for £3.50 for up to 12hrs and goes toward park upkeep.
Madelyn S — Google review
First time visiting and it's a beautiful park however, it states on your website you allow dogs off lead. We arrive and pay for parking to be met with signs saying no dogs off lead. We wouldn't have wasted the 30 minute drive and money if we had known before attending and would have gone elsewhere. Shame as it's a lovely park but we won't be revisiting.
Callie P — Google review
Beautiful park. Great choice to spend your free time surrounded by nature .

Visited this country park on a Monday in the summer holiday with our 4 year old and our baby. The park has walks that were easily accessible with a buggy. Parking was £3.50 for the day - car parks were grass. Our 4 year old loved the playgrounds, the equipment was varied - zip line, slides, climbing frames, swings and a sandpit area with water. The cafe was affordable (ca. £8 for a sandwich with crisps and salad, and £5.50 for a kids meal). The walks are close to open water, so if walking with children it is necessary to keep them close.

Daventry Country Park, located just a mile from the town center, offers a serene escape into nature. The park features a large reservoir surrounded by woodland and meadow trails where visitors can spot ducks and geese. Families can enjoy the adventure playground, outdoor gym equipment, bird hides, and a cafe offering hot and cold food. Wheelchair-accessible trails provide easy access to the park's natural beauty and wildlife viewing points.
Plenty of parking on Weekdays and good clean toilets. There is a small cafe with an outdoor area useful to shelter from the odd rainy day. The walks around the lake are popular with dog walkers and parents with smaller children
Gareth G — Google review
It's a wonderful and accessible place, thanks to the hard work of their ground crew, staff and volunteers, especially since they completed the new accessible platform. Surfaces are a mix of compacted grit, tarmac and dirt tracks, with some muddy areas during the winter/wet months, but is only on the far side of water and majority of routes are fine and you'll still get to enjoy most of it. There are two disabled toilets combined with baby changing and are a little cramped in my opinion, hence the 4*, a changing places unit would be amazing here if they could get a grant for one, but it's still a great place to get outdoors and I love it.
Nick W — Google review
Lovely place to walk and relax. Eye pleasing scenaries & with flock of birds & Ideal for photography. PS: Parking pay machines out of order.
Harshitha S — Google review
I visited Daventry Country Park twice, and both times felt refreshing and peaceful. The reservoir walk was calming, surrounded by greenery and bird calls. On my last visit, I wandered into the nearby village and found a beautiful canal-side road. It was quiet, almost hidden, with the still water reflecting the sky the kind of place that makes you slow down and just enjoy the moment. Those simple walks made the trip feel really special.

Lovely place for a walk with the pram, slightly bumpy in places but my little one still fell asleep! Cafe and playground available, good day out. Approx £1 per hour for parking which can be cash, card or phone app.

Great walk round with the dogs. And tires kids out. I love the cafe, good selection and nice they have dog ice cream 🍦
Natalie C — Google review
A lovely park even with the water level of the reservoir being low. Cafe, views, educational tags, well maintained paths and signage.
Melissa. N — Google review
Lovely! Good (2.8km) walk around the reservoir with lots of stopping places and benches for a pause if needed. The little cafe is delightful and the servers friendly and efficient. We loved the children’s playground! I would like to see more picnic tables or places where we could bring our own chairs or sit on the grass for picnics. But the park is a great place for a family gathering and the wooded environment gave the feeling of being miles from anywhere. Highly recommended!

Hi All, nice and quiet peace of nature for everyone, hiking trails, cycling paths, dog-friendly paths too. There is a playground for kids and, a huge parking lot. Walking, running or cycling around the lake takes around 11km Highly recommended for all. Thank you, will come again. 🫡🙂

Lovely place. I wish my dog was allowed off the lead around the lake itself, but lovely nonetheless. There were some of the lead areas which my Pointer enjoyed thoroughly.

Great spot for a walk, bike ride, picnic and even water sports. Car park has a cafe and toilet facilities. You can also walk around the reservoir by following a very straight forward gravel path. Ideal for anyone

7.5 bike ride path very bumpy and made up of shale stone not very tyre friendly, cafe facilities good, toilets kept nice £4.00 parking all day ,free for blue badge holders.several walks for kids.

Great for walking the dog. We really enjoy the peace and quiet and the views onto the Reservoir. It takes roughly 2.5 hours to walk around the lake. Some people walk, some run or others are cycling round. There are toilets and a cafe at the main car park with a lovely sized playground for the kids. Had some food at the cafe today. The food was lovely. I chose chorizo and mozzarella toasties which came with a small pot of tasty chips and a cherry flavour flapjack. The service was polite and very professional.

First time I have visited. Took my dog and enjoyed a long walk through woodlands, fields and tracks. All well signposted. Large car park well marked out with ANPR on entry pay on exit so you dont need to worry about overstaying. Toilets were very clean. Cafe a little expensive and slow service on food but otherwise a great place to visit and shall be going again soon

The terraces around the manor house are adorned with colorful pots and containers, while the surrounding gardens offer unexpected vistas at every turn.
Very relaxing environment. I'd recommend getting there early as it can get pretty busy during peak times. Such a lovely Botanical gardens. Rather large nursery with wide range of plants hidden behind the cafe too. Love this place
Louisa O — Google review
Visited this garden in the second week of September, when most gardens are looking past their best for the season and there's not a lot of colour. I couldn't believe how fantastic this garden looked! The layout is very interesting, with a beautiful water garden running down a slope leading to a more open area. I've visited many gardens in the UK, and this is definitely one that I will remember for a long time and one of the very best. The tea room is reasonably priced and the cake was great. We didn't have one of the meals on offer but the menu looked tempting.

Spent the afternoon admiring the colourful pants and excellent park with its flamingoes, ducks, chickens and the stag, which turnef out of being a statue. They also had a nice cafe/restaurant. Lots of free parking, too.

Never fails to please. Beautiful gardens that even in early Oxtober had lots of colour. Chickens and flamingoes roam on the lawns. The gardens are well maintained and we even had tea and delicious cake. We are thinking of getting a season ticket for next year. We'll worth a visit.

It's a brilliant location. Lots going on, amazing fast paced action on the dragstrip some phenomenal vehicles displayed. Great commentary helping make it inclusive even for the newbies to the action. Good secondary entertainment at the other arena sites. Lots of high octane action. The participants were very friendly and willing to share their passion for their hobby. We will be returning.

Spent a works day out here to watch a colleague run his car up the drag strip a few times. A good day out although surprised to see that a lot of the food stalls were closed, but it was a Friday. Plenty of car parking and overall a good vibe. The weather was good with only a few interruptions in racing due to the heavy rain. As soon as the rain stopped the racing got underway pretty quickly.

I’ve been going to Santa Pod since I was young, with Bug Jam being the highlight of my year. Back then, it was all about the old cars, the smell of the rubber, and the excitement in the air. Now, as a father of two, it’s taken on a whole new meaning — it’s something I get to share with my kids and my wife, and it’s just as magical as ever. The atmosphere is electric but still feels welcoming for families. There’s so much to see and do — from the incredible drag races that leave you in awe to the friendly car displays, live music, and fun fair rides. My kids’ faces light up every time a car roars down the strip, and my wife loves that there are plenty of places to relax, grab food, and enjoy the day. Santa Pod isn’t just about cars — it’s about community, shared memories, and that unique mix of adrenaline and family fun. For us, it’s more than a weekend away; it’s a tradition, and I can’t wait to keep bringing my children here as they grow up. If you’ve never been, whether you’re a petrolhead or just looking for an unforgettable family day, Santa Pod is a must.

Still a great family trip out 35 years after I was the kid being taken there. Facilities are well cleaned considering the traffic, food is OK, though the oil could be changed more often if they're going to charge 4.50 for fries... You need ear protection..... you can buy it there.
Noyzmunky — Google review
Absolutely love this place, its always well organised. We were there for USC which has some fantastic cars, with something for everyone. The drinks are pretty good but the food can be questionable its pretty expensive which I dont mind if the quality is good but not all of it is. Pizza parlour next to fuelers was amazing but the breakfast place with no name that just says big breakfast baguettes (in between the ice cream van and the pod shop) was shockingly bad. I expected it to be amazing as we waited 30 minutes so thought it must be fresh it was a burnt mess and cost about £8.50 (see photos) avoid this place. The coffee there was terrible too. If you want good coffee then go to the coffee and cake place (next door to burger and fries) as the coffee there was really nice. The noodle place was pretty good too as was the Mexican next door (I think) that done the loaded fries (see pics)

Fineshade Wood, located within the ancient Rockingham Forest, offers a range of family-friendly activities and amenities. Visitors can explore walking paths, a forest horse-riding trail, kids' playgrounds, and an art gallery. The Grounds Cafe at Top Lodge provides freshly made picnic options for families returning from woodland activities. This rare habitat is home to native wildlife such as woodcocks, red kites, rabbits, foxes, and deer.
I have been visiting here for over 5 years, enjoying the walks. It’s beautiful, miles of well signposted trails for short walks or longer treks. The annual parking pass is reasonably priced and well worth the investment, as you can’t get bored of the peaceful environment. The cafe offers good food and drinks, at a fair cost. In summer time there is also a nice outdoor seating area. I’ve hired bikes and the staff were helpful and it added to a day out. Toilets are clean and easy to access. Overall I’d highly recommend this little bit of peace and calm, for solo walkers, couples or families. Walkers, runners or cyclists alike.

A very nice walk along well made up paths. Signage for the different routes was very clear. Initially I thought that the car parking was expensive (£3.50 for 1hr. £6.50 for 2hrs) but on hindsight well worth the money especially if you have a family. Didn't try the café so can't comment. The toilets were nice and clean

With three well-marked circular trails to explore, families can enjoy leisurely walks while keeping an eye out for the stunning Purple Emperor butterfly.
We love this country park. My son still loves the play park even at age 12. Yesterday we discovered some lovely new wooden sculptures of a frog and newts on our walk. We always like to climb to the high point of the trail which is a great beauty spot to sit on a bench and see far and wide over the local area. This would be a great place for foraging as we found loads of blackberries (ate a few!), rosehips, elderberries and lots more. There is a good picnic area, toilets and a nice café too.

Took my youngest 2 kids ages 5 and 7 to their Easter Forest School and they both loved it. Lots of activities to do and explore areas. Den building, mud kitchen, digging area, swing and fire pit where they got to toast some hot cross buns! Finished off with nettle tea too. The Country Park is amazing too. Huge playground with a long zip line, sand pit, fun things to climb on and explore also. Great day out for sure. There’s also a cafe but we didn’t try it as we had a picnic. Ample parking and only £3.50 for the day. Well worth a visit.

We love Fermyn woods, great for dog walks and various trails of different lengths/durations. Variety of play areas and equipment to suit all ages. Just wish the lovely cafe stayed open slightly later - especially in the summer!

Beautiful place to walk around if you fancy some wooded trails. Lots of facilities at the entrance of the park, and some apparatus for children to play on. Can choose between 3 trails, each varying in the distance you want to walk. So nice when the sun is out, but don't forget wellies! As some bits of the trail can be a bit muddy. Lovely place!
Olivia A — Google review
A lovely Country Park. Flat rate parking of £3.50 for 12 hours, payable by cash, card or app. Overflow car park shuts earlier than the main car park, so be sure to check! Lots of great play equipment across a long area, three marked short trails through the woods (with benches periodically), clean toilets and a lovely cafe (with very welcome ice lollies on a hot day).
Sarah — Google review
This is a slightly more 'managed' woodland to visit in that there are visitor things, surfaced paths and landscaped areas, but the range of flora and fauna are true ancient woodland. It's really nice to visit somewhere like this when you are really into plant life, and it was pretty quiet, safe and serene for walking my young dog off lead when I first adopted him, just taking in nature and exploring. There were people visiting on mobility scooters which was nice - lots of the paths are obviously up to standard for their access needs although there are some steps and the ground can be quite wet away from the main paths. There is a cafe and toilets plus play equipment I think, but I didn't visit those myself. You do have to pay for parking but it wasn't very expensive and goes to the management of the woodland.

My husband & I discovered this park only this year. It's a perfect place to walk our senior chorkie as there are a choice of trails to walk, of which the purple one is just the right distance for us. There is also plenty of shade provided by the trees along this trail for a warm day. There's also a nice little cafe with welcoming & polite staff.

Absolutely brilliant. Always clean and tidy. With I mean it is. I kept clean and tidy plus usable at all times. Brilliant.

We love Abington Park, in any weather it's such a nice place to go. There is so much to say about it... There are two main green spaces/ parks, both with full site maps at the main entrance points if you need to orientate yourself in the first few visits. I did recently notice a new sign for the park run they've set up. The sign was located between the big pond and the football pitch on the path running juxtaposed to the play area path. The running route they've set up is for beginners through to experienced and there are new post markers installed around route (around the football pitch and mini forest) shown on the sign post for distance/route reminders, etc. We tend to walk our dog all over and meet with friends, letting the children explore the winding paths & through the trees. I've never seen so many squirrels in my life in one place, so that's always cute. The big pond is great for wildlife and seeing different birds, we have seen Herons in the smaller pond too. The birds (ducks/geese/swans/Moorhens/seagulls/pigeons, etc) have all been fed too often, so they are really greedy and will approach if you stand still. The boating lake next to the big pond is great if you have remote control boats. In the summer, it also has ride on mini boats and pedalos you have to pay to use. There tends to be a fair in summer near the play area. And you will often see people gather here for parties with tents/pop up gazebos etc, dotted everywhere, so it's really family friendly, and most people you see will talk or smile. You will feel the community spirit for sure if you want to. The play area is great for the kids. They've recently fixed some items (roundabout/landrover, etc) and built a new climbing frame for Littler Littles. Theres something for all ages here! In the warmer months there are usually 2 ice cream trucks parked near the traffic lights near the play area if in need of a yummy treat. Crossing over the traffic lights past the play area and ear the church, youll find the museum/band stand/cafe/toilets/bird walk. The cafe is great if you need a hot / cold drink or little ones fancy some ice cream in any weather - indoor & outdoor seating is available and they also have a nice lunch selection too. It's a little pricey for a quick bite, but it shouldn't put you off if you're not expecting to eat or drink there. The cafe also sells balls/Frisbees/bubbles, etc, so if you're going for a spontaneous visit, it's very handy. Near the cafe is the bird walk, which I think is open through the week, I know it's usually open until around 3 pm on Saturdays but not Sundays, I find. The museum is one place I keep meaning to explore but don't get around to doing, but that looks good. They often have events throughout the year advertised at the traffic light crossing between the two green spaces. There is sometimes a band playing on the band stand but mostly it's empty and the kids can go check it out. Over all its well maintained dog friendly park with lots to do, something for everyone... you'll often see the ground people maintaining it, driving around doing what they do best.

Was at the summertime festival in the park and it was well attended, the crowd had fun time, dog walkers were strolling by, families with their baby strollers were enjoying the environment. The history of the Abbey was on display for all to read and see. The rest room was a mixture modern decoration and ancient bricks like a huge contrast of time interwoven. The trees help to soothe the temperature even in high temperature

Winter lights trail was wonderful, I would highly recommend wellies! I didn’t have mine and it was very muddy!! The trail itself was really lovely, some very cute light shows and the accompanying music was perfectly suited. The whole spectacle was beautiful and the food was good (slightly overpriced but as expected) the staff were also really friendly and accommodating, they offered to take pics as it was just me and my toddler grandson. Good facilities and really easy to book online. My only suggestion would be to put the honeycomb flooring in more areas to avoid the mud, navigating with a buggy was, at times, difficult, but not impossible. A perfect Family day out.

Great weekend away, really enjoyed it. Recommendations would be to take your own food as it’s a long day, also take walk clothing as you will be sat still outside for a while. Negatives would be lack of signage to locations and open stands, we were walking around for a while to find stands were closed. Also more screens or pole position details from stands, but of a guessing game otherwise.
Caio C — Google review
The Silverstone Festival, celebrating 75 years of Formula One where it all began, was an absolutely unforgettable experience. From start to finish, everything was very well organized, and the staff were polite, friendly, and helpful, which made the day even better. There was so much to see and do, especially on the Friday when we went. It was the perfect choice — not overcrowded like the weekend can be, and the atmosphere was just right. Everywhere you looked there were interesting events taking place, from historic displays to on-track action. One absolute must is the museum — don’t miss it! I highly recommend purchasing the official booklet. It’s packed with useful information and really helps you navigate the festival. I only discovered at the end that the last page unfolds into a map of the whole site, which makes it much easier to see what’s going on. The booklet is a little expensive, but honestly worth it — with it, you won’t miss anything. The festival shop was another highlight, offering a wide range of merchandise, especially clothing, with some good sales. The food was also excellent and reasonably priced — much better than the usual “event food.” Both at the hotel restaurant and from vendors on-site, there were plenty of good options to enjoy, so no need to bring your own. It’s a shame that some of the great legends weren’t part of the event anymore, but it was still a powerful and moving experience. The history, the atmosphere, and the celebration of 75 years of Formula One made it truly special. Overall, the Silverstone Festival was an amazing experience — one that everyone should try at least once. My advice: don’t just stay in one place. Explore, walk around, and take it all in, because there’s so much more than meets the eye.

Came to Silverstone on the Sunday to watch F1 Grand Prix. We bought our tickets in advance which is essential. It was a great event. There was loads of food, shopping, variety of stalls. It is an all day event so can make of it as you please. My biggest concern was the toilets, but they had proper portable toilets so even better. Will definitely come back again and would recommend anyone to come and watch the F1. We had general admission tickets and stood at the Village A section on the corner. If you can afford to pay for a grand stand then I would recommend doing so. Just ensure you are prepared for all weather types

Amazing place for everyone, even if you are not a Formula 1 fan you will find plenty to do here it's like a festival for the whole family plus a chance to watch racing cars in action and if you are lucky you can even meet some of the Celebrities 😃 I got the tickets from my work and it was Friday practice only (initially I was slightly disappointed that it wasn't the Sunday when the main race take place) but still we've had fantastic day🤩. So many attractions are here and surprisingly for free, selfies with your favourite drivers, simulators, pit stop experience and even the Big Wheel....all free and worth queueing for. Many many different food stations, bars and places to sit and relax in between the drivers sessions. We have been lucky with sunny weather so the day was like a holiday experience from 8am till about 10.30pm with the concert to finish that brilliant day. I am already thinking about coming back here next year 🎉🎉🎉 I am obsessed....very well organised and packed with entertainment for anyone. Very grateful for the experience 🙏

A very special place like a world all in its self. A great charity event yesterday. Experiencing the track that looks every bit as impressive it is on tv, a lot of scaffolding on the stands though so would love to see permanent grandstands eventually but the feeling of running a lap of this historic tarmac was quite an excitement. Very helpful staff and certainly wish to come again, the merchandise too will be something I will be ready for too.

Great track, worth seeing. Went to a BTCC weekend in September and had a great time watching the qualifying from the stands. Plenty to see including a museum, lots of parking spaces and toilets, food, store had a lot of merchandise on sale, probably because it was end of the season. Allow a couple of hours to visit the track.

Love this circuit best place to watch British touring cars and MotoGP. Been here a few times now and the staff are very helpful. The food stalls are good a bit expensive but they have to pay slot in pitch fees for the day. Parking is easy and free which is great for the amount of spectators that turn up. Had a great day at the BTCC open pit garages so you view the cars/mechanics etc, you can sit anywhere in the grandstands.

Barnsdale Gardens is a must-visit for garden enthusiasts, featuring 38 individually themed gardens spread across eight acres. Created by Geoff Hamilton for BBC Gardeners World, it boasts the largest collection of uniquely designed gardens in Britain. Visitors can explore various garden styles including rose, Japanese, rock, knot, herb garden, orchard, and woodland walk. The site also includes a plant nursery and Helenium Tea Rooms offering vegetarian and vegan afternoon tea options when booked in advance.
Absolutely love Barnsdale Gardens, so peaceful and beautiful, plenty of different plants and bushes to see, will be returning very soon to see all the flowers in full bloom. Well worth the visit. And to top it off a fantastic restaurant serving some fantastic meals, Ham, egg and chips was very tasty.

£15/adult to enter. If I'm honest, it was underwhelming. The old Geoff Hamilton TV gardens haven't been kept in the best condition. Many planted areas had weeds or Remnants of plants that should have been cut and put on the compost heap. Seating and most wooden structures were deteriorating. It took us around 1 1/2 hours to walk round all 30+ gardens. There is a nice tea room and cafe on site though, where we had lunch.

As a Dutchy I am a great fan of Gardeners World. In the beginning of the programme I saw Geoff Hamilton talking about plants and gardens and I learned a lot this way. As we were staying not too far away during our holidays, we visited the famous Barnsdale Gardens and enjoyed ourselves very much

we had an amazing visit to Barnsdale gardens today! I'm honored to award Barndale a maximum triple yum (yumyumyum) score for some very yummy scones, warmed up and supplied with a generous serving of cream and jam. the staff were great, and gardens amazing. a beautiful experience for our group. thank you Team Barndsdale!

This site is divided up into many individual gardens, all lovely. It takes about 3 hours to go round but, lots of seats to rest en route.

Beautiful gardens, a fitting legacy of Geoffrey Hamilton. Including lunch, we spent about 5 hours at the gardens. A super return on our 15 pound entry.
David C — Google review
We visited on the 26th of August and had about six hours at the gardens. We loved it. The gardens were easy to find and parking was plentiful. We started with a coffee and light breakfast which was all good and very pleasant staff. We then ventured into the gardens and apart from a short lunch stop we wandered the gardens for about four hours. There is so much to see and such a great range of plants. Yes there are some weeds and some areas that need more planting but its an eight acre site and even with all the ground's staff we saw, its a big and constant task to keep on top of such a big and deeply planted area. We very much enjoyed our visit, we purchased a few plants from the shop and we think the entry cost is reasonable. We would recommend it.
Brian G — Google review
Although we had a lovely day out at Barnsdale Gardens we were a little disappointed that the gardens made by the late Geoff Hamilton weren't being looked after as they should. A lot of the planting was overgrown and definitely needed a re-fresh, we had visited before many years ago and wanted to see these mini gardens again. The newer gardens were in a lot better condition. The cafe was a little gem, we had both lunch and later tea and cake, the prices were very reasonable and the food was good. All the staff we spoke to were friendly and helpful.

Fantastic outdoor mall! Plenty of stores to choose from, fantastic array of food options and great cinema and indoor golf. Google to see all available venues.

A great place to go for shopping, cinema, coffee, lunch etc The walk around the lake is great but bring decent shoes as they have put stones near one of the entrances which will be uncomfortable in soft footwear. Five hours free parking but beware this may not be sufficient if you try to do everything on the day. Keep your receipts if this happens and you should get a refund on your parking penalty.

21/07/25, much to mention. There are so many friendly servers, nothing like peterborough. Lovely experience today. Frasers: Lancome: Cheryl J, you're a breath of fresh air!! Could ramble for hours with, lovely woman, perfect customer service! Asset! Perfume gorgeous and plentiful samples to try. Purchased La vie est belle, positively fabulous 👌 . Sports direct: didn't catch name but lovely young lad serving, super tall, random brief chat at the till, also manages to kill cacti! And yep are pup destroyed Euro ball within minutes, gutted. Not the biggest womens section. Mountain warehouse: woman with bright blue eyes, super genuine, positive, good at recommending products, but not overbearing. Blue light card accepted even on sale items. Bills restaurant: lovely lady with hearing aids, you do a super job, so busy today, vigorously working flat out.( To those that got annoyed at her busy self not responding to your princess needs, open your eyes, gain insight, and empathy, ) Food was lovely, thanks chefs! Good cuppa tea, (first place I've ever ever ever seen, using the same tea bags,) blue light card accepted. Sketchers blue light card accepted but not on any items already "discounted" can't be only one who thinks, Sketchers prices has doubled of late. Sure they used to be one of the cheaper brands. Staff not much chat, monotone. Services charges are getting out of hand! We know the servers only see a miniscule % Thanks for shining. All 4 of you deserve all the tips, all the praise, and massive pay rises, polite, approachable, and brilliant 👏 😀 🏆 🏆 🏆 🏆 Sun was shining, plenty of Accessible parking, For others with disabilities it's really well laid out, Accessible bathroom was clean and spacious. Slight let down was hearing most places do not take physical money as payment, which isnt very inclusive, knowing many a person who prefer cash over card, ( my mother doesn't trust cards, more complex than losing money or having details fraudulently accessed, and partners 95 year old nan, that just doesn't understand using card, just to mention two, but working in healthcare, many more feel the same, and just wont buy if cant use legal tender.) Has a dog washing station, 👍 has outdoor phone charging points 👍 Helpful homeless support 👍 Really is lovely to have the lake, looked ever so picturesque today. 👍 👍 👍 👍

Been here a few times now, theres a generation selection of shops, places to eat and a great cinema. The only real issue is the parking, there is lot of it but the spaces are way to small, if somebody parks next to you and isnt bang centre its nigh on impossible to get the car door open to get into your car.

Rushden Lakes is an excellent outdoor shopping centre that truly offers something for everyone. The range of shops is great, covering major brands like Superdry, Superdrug, and Card Factory. It's also a fantastic food destination—with Greggs and my favourite, Popeye's Chicken! What boosts this to a 4/5 is the fantastic leisure complex. With 360 Play, a Trampoline Park, and climbing walls, it’s a brilliant day out that keeps the kids fully entertained. Highly recommended for families.

Its 18-acre formal gardens feature a 17th-century yew hedge, vibrant rose garden, and a wild garden boasting over 200 tree and shrub species.
Interesting place to visit, only able to see certain parts of the castle due to it being a private home. Amazing gardens and walks. Would highly recommend to others.

Local History Northamptonshire is a hive of english history. Naseby, Holdenby house, Fotheringgay, Althorpe house Boughton house, Rockingham castle, the list goes on an amazing morning early afternoon at this beautiful castle and grounds are picturesque and well maintained, the Easter egg hunt at the castle was fun for the whole family. Easy parking and access, polite and friendly staff, and some really knowledgeable guides in rooms around the house, no pictures inside ad this is not allowed and some areas off limits as a family still lives here. Definitely worth a visit, and they also do events, we have been to a previous Viking one, which was spectacular, with village setup with crafts, dressing up and historical dress. 100 % recommended

Hidden gem. Passed this place on the way to the industrial estate and returned another day to have a wander around. Really helpful parking volunteer, never seen a field so perfectly uniform and she directed us to the disabled spaces. Walking tours for all ages, and considerate of people's speed. Very prepared woman had brought a stool for stationary history talks. Like most heritage sites there is alot of gravel, uneven antique stone floors; however as long as my fellow visitors was supported it was easy to get around. Inside a very knowledgeable gentleman, with an added bonus of Charles Dickens ties (I will not spoil it for you). Nice tea room, helpful and polite staff (Vegan and gluten free options). Gift shop with plenty for children. Obviously a well loved family home. Would recommend. Stunning unimpeded views of the countryside and neighboring church.

Nestled in the heart of England, Kirby Hall stands as a magnificent testament to Elizabethan and 17th-century architecture. Once the residence of Sir Christopher Hatton, who served as Lord Chancellor to Queen Elizabeth I, this grand country house boasts an impressive array of richly decorated walls that reflect its owners' innovative spirit throughout history. While parts of the mansion remain roofless, it only adds to its charm and allure.
A Total Discovery This elegant house once welcomed King James 1 and visually is stunning. What it must have looked like in 1600 s has to be imaged. It can be gleaned from the decor of the remaining rooms how grand it was. The gardens are good too reflecting the style at the time. Do visit this hidden gem.

This place is a well hidden gem. It is a bit hidden and remote but it is a well worthy day out. The ruins are beutiful. The gardens and the Roman sculptures truly take you back to the 17 century. Great English Heritage site to visit. There is free parking next to the site.

This is a lovely old building. Larger than most historic houses and although most of it is a ruin it is intact enough to give a really good impression of what it would have been like. There is a small shop but either bring a picnic (lots of outside tables) or eat at the nearby Lyvedon which has a very well run cafe with gluten free and vegan options.

Beautiful ruins. So peaceful and tranquil. Went there on a weekday and at 3:30, it was just me and my hubby in the whole property. Lovely and large grounds. A little shop where you can get tea, coffee, ice-creams but no proper tea rooms. Staff are really helpful and friendly. Lots of peacocks and peahens who are used to the visitors. One came and sat right next to me when I was having my hot chocolate. Overall a wonderful day. Definitely recommend.

Very nice remains of a once glorious manor house, lots of classic architecture to see, one section of the house still stands with the roof and internals intact including a beautiful roof, there's also a nice laid out garden to look around.

Was closed due to the "windy" weather, unfortunately. However there is a public footpath next to it, so we saw the outside. It looks really big, and a nice looking building, with about a third possibly still intact. The grounds are nice and would be a good place to enjoy a picnic in the summer. Turns out the weather wasn't that bad and it was a shame no one was on site to tell us a bit about the area.

East Carlton Countryside Park, located on the edge of the picturesque Welland Valley, offers a serene escape with its mature woodland, grasslands, and adjacent countryside views. The park features a heritage center, ample parking, a cafe, playground, and accessible toilets. While some pathways may be challenging for mobility scooters or wheelchairs due to narrow rocky paths and hilly terrain, there are benches along the trails for resting.
This whole place and the forest is my sanctuary, where I escape to recharge and find serenity. The majestic trees tower above, and the diverse wildlife is a delight to behold – birds flit through the branches, while rabbits, rodents, and perhaps even foxes or badgers roam freely, their hidden dens visible on the forest floor. The forest's lush canopy and vibrant ecosystem create a sense of tranquillity, making it the perfect retreat from the world. And when I need a pick-me-up, the nearby cafeteria is always open, serving up a warm cup of coffee or a nourishing snack.

Beautiful Country Park. Big carpark, cafe, toilets and playground. We enjoyed our visit and spent about 3hrs here in total. Toilets and cafe are open 10am til 3:30pm but park is open dawn to dusk 7 days a week. Accessibility is not great, a lot of the pathways are narrow and made up from rocks so getting round on a mobility scooter or in a wheelchair would be difficult. It is also situated on a hill but there are a lot of benches dotted around the trail so you can rest often if needed.
Katherine P — Google review
It’s a beautiful, serene country park with a designated play area for children with allocated seating nearby for parents/guardians. The walk in at most intermediate as there are some slight inclines however, majority of the path is light. Theres lot of huge Oak trees which was amazing to see and wood crafts throughout the park. There is an area to make purchases which has a variety of drinks, treats and eats. Ice cream bars were about £2.80 for one. There is a small duck pond with seating nearby and feed available for purchase. Very dog friendly with a dog wash area, as well as food on sale. Best part is Free parking! So you can make it a day long outing bring your blankets etc.

A place for all seasons. It's always a pleasure to walk here, hard paths for access for all abilities and off piste pathways for mini adventures. Free parking, plenty of space, and gorgeous views across the valley. Lovely coffee shop with lots of choice. Dog friendly and lots of activities for all ages and abilities. The staff here work hard to create a safe clean area for all to enjoy. Lobe that it is accessible for all abilities.

Taylor W — Google review
East Carlton Country Park is a proper countryside escape, the kind of place where you can stretch your legs, tire out the dog or just wander until you find yourself admiring the big house and pretending you belong in a period drama. There are trails to suit every mood, from a gentle loop for a relaxed stroll to longer walks that make you feel like you are on a proper adventure. There is loads of open space for kids to run about, plenty of spots for a picnic and more than enough ducks to keep you entertained. The café is a real bonus, serving decent coffee, hearty food and cakes that do not mess around with portion sizes. It is the perfect place to reward yourself after a walk, but timing is everything. By lunchtime a lot of the best options are already gone and by mid-afternoon you might be left with little more than a hot drink and a sympathetic smile. If food is part of your plan, go early. That said, when you do manage to beat the crowds, it is a great spot to relax and enjoy something tasty in a friendly setting. Between the park itself and the café, it is an excellent day out. Just remember that the early bird gets more than the crumbs.

Northampton & Lamport Railway, located at Pitsford and Brampton Station, offers seasonal steam and diesel-powered rides along a 1.5-mile stretch of restored heritage track designed by George Stephenson. The railway, which had been closed since 1981, now provides passengers with the opportunity to enjoy the beautiful countryside while riding classic locomotives or exploring the station's memorabilia.
A lovely little hidden gem of Northampton. Although not huge, it's a great experience that not everywhere offers. Firstly, the staff are welcoming and friendly (especially for the children). Lots of opportunities to see some history and how trains operate. Plenty of options of refreshments at good prices. The train ride may be short but lovely for those who want to reminisce the history of trains and see some of Northampton's countryside for a small price.

Visited today (bank holiday Monday) for the Bluey event. We had never been before despite living locally. On arrival it was quite busy and we were unsure if there would be enough space to park but there was plenty of space with an overflow car park too. We went to the ticket office to redeem the tickets we had bought online, the staff were very friendly and helpful explaining where/when we could expect to see Bluey and what times the train would arrive. We had a lovely trip on the train, just the right amount of time before our little boy started to get a little bored. We had a look in the gift shop and bought an ice cream and lemon drizzle cake from the cafe which was very reasonably priced. There was face painting, hook a duck and a cups and saucers ride for the children at this particular event which was lovely too! We will definitely be back and look forward to seeing if there will be anything going on at Christmas!

What a superb visit at the Northampton and Lamport Railway. I booked the Cream Tea experience as a Mother's Day gift for my 89 year old Mum. Mum and I had the most wonderful time, and we were so impressed with the kindness and hospitality shown to us by the friendly volunteers. (A special mention must go to Joe Pratt who was super helpful and enthusiastic) Mum has a few mobility issues, but all the volunteers were on hand to help when boarding and disembarking the train and nothing was too much trouble. A shout out also to the ladies who prepared and served the delicious cream teas. Everything was spot on. I would highly recommend this as a super gift experience.

Glad I Visited this old railway even though it was closed. Nice pub next to it. Be careful of the many holes in the green by the tables. Lake is easy to walk around with some seating, sadly neglected, you can rest at. Good selection of drinks Inc low % IPA for those who drive. Food smelled lovely but I didn't eat this time.

We came here as a family and had such a lovely day out. It’s a smaller heritage railway, but it’s full of charm and character. The station at Pitsford and Brampton has a really nostalgic feel, and everything is run by friendly, passionate volunteers who make you feel genuinely welcome. The train ride isn’t long, but it was just enough for our kids to get excited without getting restless. They loved watching the steam engine up close and waving at people as we passed by. There’s also a little museum and some railway exhibits that kept them curious, plus a tearoom where we grabbed some drinks and cake — simple but tasty. It’s clear a lot of care goes into this place, and we really appreciated the relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere. We’re already thinking about coming back for one of the themed events like the Santa Specials or a diesel day. If you’re looking for a wholesome, easygoing trip with a bit of old-school fun, this place is definitely worth a visit.

I visited for the first time and my son enjoyed himself a lot. Loads of friendly staff from the moment you set foot on the platform, great priced gift shop and very nice cafe food. Sadly there was no steam train on our visit but equally we enjoyed ourselves on a diesel train which was just as good. We would definitely be returning for a steam engine trip but I would also recommend travelling on the diesel train too they are just as fun!

Lamport Hall is a classical-style country house located just north of Northampton, set in rolling, landscaped parkland. The 17th-century hall is surrounded by 10 acres of tranquil gardens, featuring a walled garden with tall perennial plants and extensive herbaceous borders. Visitors can also explore the central gardens filled with hollyhocks and cardoons, as well as lush, trimmed lawns. The house itself is packed with ancient artifacts and offers a glimpse into history.
Just visited garden and tea room. Very nice coffee served with a smile. The gardens are lovely although like everywhere suffering from the drought. The Bog Room is an eye opener and the cutting garden has great swathes of planting, yes a bit dried out but still effective. A peaceful place.

Been trying to visit for ages. Went on a Weds afternoon. The gardens are expansive and all very different. Cafe in old stables are a highlight and have been converted really tastefully. In particular there are 2 very unique snug coffee areas. Also visited the house just the ground floor, you can go upstairs as part of a timed tour but we went free flow. The volunteer guides in each room were brilliant, so energised and informative. Bonus or admission gives access for 12 months which is cool.
Jim O — Google review
Lamport Hall is a fascinating place but was a little disappointed at the number of rooms available to view. There is no access to the upstairs part of the house and no kitchen area to look around either. Apparently, it is home to the very first garden Gnome introduced by Sir Charles Isham in 1874. The gardens, however, are beautiful. Look out for the rather unusual foxglove tree!! Delightful cafe in the Stables service drinks, cakes, and light lunches.

Enjoyed the Quilting and Sewing Show at Lamport Hall. Was well organised and lovely to dip in and out of the indoor and outdoor spaces, especially on such a lovely day. Not sure the layout would accommodate people with mobility scooters or wheelchairs though as most spaces were quite cramped and tricky to get around. Parking was very easy and near to the venue with very efficient stewards staffing the area, however the exit road was more suitable for off road vehicles 😱

Very interesting house and absolutely beautiful gardens. The only reason I haven't given it 5 stars is the cafe. Nice food - but 45 minutes' wait for sandwiches!!

On our day of visit, the hall wasn’t open, but the gardens were, and I was pleasantly surprised, the gardens are fantastic, so many different varieties of flowers and plants to see, there are hidden gardens you can easily miss, if you don’t explore. The garden features accessible pathways, making it suitable for visitors of all ages, including families with young children.
Had a lovely day at a plant fair at EWG. It was my first time going so I didn't know what to expect. It was such a pleasant surprise. Parking was great, facilitated by friendly parking attendants. It was a flat surface from the car to the plant fair and back to the car laden with tonnes of plants. So it was assessable for all. The plant fair took cash or card, but card payments were a bit slow. They had room for so many more stalls.. hint hint.. sellers 😉 The lovely walk into EWG was beautiful, and the cherry blossom was in full swing. Also, the toilets were fab.. see the photo. The cafe had lovely staff, food and plenty of seating. Unfortunately, there are also huge queues. Maybe on event days, another vendor could have set up? Then we had a lovely walk through the woods, and it was beautiful. To top it off, the whole day was dog friendly, as if it wasn't I wouldn't be able to go. So, thank you so much. We will be back.

One of my favourite places to visit, beautiful all year round. Maintained and run by excellent staff, plenty of footpaths, flowers and trails to keep you going for a few hours. With an excellent cafe or bring your own picnic with all the handmade benches to choose from. A great handmade children's play area, includes a much loved zip-line. Dogs welcome, keep on leads, plenty of parking. Check website and socials for any closed days for private events or windy days.

What a treasure of a place! We visited in early February, just as the snowdrops were starting to appear, and we were also treated to a lovely display of crocus and aconites as well as seeing some lovely specimen trees dotted around the arboretum. The pathways are easy to negotiate, and there is plenty of parking. It’s a super place for people of all ages, including young families.
Lesley M — Google review
Lovely little gardens, very natural, with a small brook running through it. Always changing with the seasons, with snowdrops, bluebells, azaleas and rhododendrons , nice cafe and children's play stuff, at a reasonable price.
Mark H — Google review
We had a nice walk and enjoyed the snow drops but I think that £17 entrance fee for 2 adults was far too expensive for what was on offer. The cafe promised locally sourced freshly prepared food. The queue was really long and our Jacket potatoes with cheese and beans were very small and the potato had been reheated. This was also far too expensive for the portion size and quality. A 1 hour walk in the woods and a pretty poor quality lunch cost a grand total of £40. We will probably not return as there are plenty of free woodland walks locally and much better eateries for a similar price.
Song B — Google review
Great day out, fun for a family or like me just taking in beautiful surroundings and having a good old stroll. Impressive snowdrop collections, many other flowers flora and fauna little streams and a great little woodland cafe. Toilets were a welcome surprise.

Hey there, lovebirds! I've snapped pics at many places, but Evenley Wood Garden stole my heart. It's like a hidden fairy tale in the woods, with trees whispering sweet nothings. The views? OMG! Nature's Instagram-worthy, from meadows to cozy nooks. Privacy is a game-changer—no random photo bombs, just you two soaking in the love. And the spaces? A photographer's dream! Every corner's a canvas, ready for your love story. If you want pics that feel like a romance novel cover, Evenley Wood Garden's your spot. Trust me, it's pure magic! Full love story at https://miracle-moments.co.uk

What a lovely place to take the kids! If you have young children they would really like it here especially during times such as Halloween & Christmas as they decorate the shorter walks with themed items making it excitingly for them. Dogs are to be kept on their leads which ours did not mind as there are lot of young children around. Plants & bushes are labeled up & there are some unusual plants that I have never seen before! I have give 4*'s mainly because the café is extortionate for what you get (road side cafe selling small portions at double the price sums it up) However putting that aside we had a lovely afternoon, well worth a visit but take your own lunch.

Twywell Gullet is a popular spot for leisurely walks and dog walking. The free car park provides ample parking, and there's even a van selling beverages at times. Visitors can explore various terrains including fields and wooded areas, with the option to venture off the beaten path. However, it's important to be cautious of livestock in certain seasons as they may approach visitors unexpectedly.
Lovely muddy walk! Hidden gems and beautiful views. Especially the way autumn change leave colours.. Will definitely visit again to see better views! Parking is free and spacious, good place for dogs.
Kami A — Google review
Only recently found out about this place, and what a stunning area huge doesnt even come close! So many walks amazing scenery. Dogs allowed some areas they have to remain on the leads but there some areas you are able to let your furry friend run around. Parking is small but we no problem (free parking). There is a picnic area, certain days a drink van comes. Also able to track the highland cows which are super friendly. Definitely bring your hiking boots as high/steap terrains.
Ruby G — Google review
Free car park, ideal for dog walking, jogging, or just walking and enjoying wildlife. There is a van on site that sells coffee, tea, biscuits, etc. Check the times because they are not there the whole day. Bit muddy in places, so I advise you to bring waterproof boots.

Great walks, close to the A14. Highland cattle wandering an unexpected bonus! Shame that the coffee van is only Thursday to Sunday.

Lovely place to explore and wander about. You may bump into some Highland Cows ( or not... grrr). It can be quite hilly depending on the path you take. You can easily kill a few hours here and go back again!

Always a pleasure to visit with the dogs. Great little food van for a coffee and a snack as well as a pupchino for the furbabies. Nice walk. Free parking. Only downside no toilet.

Such a nice place with a play area we even got to see some cows. It's a nice walk with pleasant people

Lots of trees, beautiful to walk about in, in the summer when it's warm. You can forage fruit in different parts at the end of Summer. It's a shame the motorway is so close and noisy and I'm sure the air quality is detrimented. Good to see the Highland Cattle brought over from Waterloo Cottage Farm and Farm Shop in Great Oxenden! As you walk along the paths, bright orange hair and horns pop into sight.

Abington Park Museum, located in the tranquil Abington Park in Northampton, is housed within a 500-year-old manor and offers an immersive experience into the history of the Northamptonshire Regiment and leather design. The museum showcases a wide array of displays including fine art and archaeological items that highlight the town's rich heritage. Situated conveniently in the heart of Northampton, within Abington Park, it is easily accessible from the town center and surrounding areas.
It's very good and important place

One of the best parks to spend time as family! We visited a park yesterday, which is a 40-minute drive from us but we didn'tt regret. It's a huge park with two playgrounds for kids, large areas for walking and picnicking, and a small lake. There were two ice cream trucks and a bounce castle, which made my little boy very happy. Across the road, there’s a small museum and a small bird area. Additionally, there's a nice café offering a selection of cakes and food too. This part of the park also features a small stage with live music, a basketball court, a rose garden, a lovely church, and another large park area. My boy enjoyed feeding the squirrels in the park. Parking is a bit tricky but we found a space on road next to park which is for free. The only downside was the toilets. The restrooms near the kids' playground were closed, and the only available facility in the other part of the park was small, old, and dirty. Despite this, I still give the park five stars because it's beautiful and offers so many activities.

Visited Abington Park Museum on a sunny afternoon and was pleasantly surprised. The museum, housed in a beautiful 16th-century manor, offers a fascinating glimpse into Northampton's history, including exhibits on the Northamptonshire Regiment and local life. It's free to enter, making it a great addition to a day out in the park. The surrounding Abington Park is perfect for a leisurely stroll or picnic, with its lakes, aviary, and well-maintained gardens. A lovely spot to relax and soak in some local culture.

Lovely park and museum (open Sat-Sun) with free entry. Historic building, and the area's history explained with interesting displays and artefacts. Don't miss the lakes, ponds and water tower further into the park. Refresh in the cafe - a little pricey but quality food and drink.

Fantastic little free museum in a lovely setting. Only real came to see the history of the Northamptonshire Yeomanry as my Grandad served with them during the war. Parking is on the street but no restrictions. Free to enter. The part on the Yeomanry was expansive and detailed. They also had a part of the house and the park which was interesting too. No shop or cafe but toilets

A very interesting place for those who want to learn about military history, but not only that, my children were very interested in everything they saw, free entry, whoever wants can donate at the exit.

Visited an Arts and crafts fair at the Museum. Lots of unusual crafts but what caught my eye was the stall on the first floor with some unique handmade crafts run by friends and two cousins. "Purely Pastels" by Tracy Rood - exquiste fine art painting and drawings of animals and scenes. "Bootalishous: made from cute Wellington Boots with a plant/flower display in the centre. It's also on a hand carved and laquared log base. A handmade Yoga bag with pockets by cousin Diane. Gift bags filled with unique items. Authentic horseshoes So much to look at...and be inspired by

Sywell Aviation Museum, located at the Sywell Aerodrome, offers a small but fascinating showcase of local aviation history. Housed in a Quonset hut, the museum features vintage planes outside and takes visitors on a journey through the rich history of aviation from its earliest days to the RAF in WWII and beyond. The museum has a vintage ambiance that appeals to both history enthusiasts and those fascinated by the invention of flight.
Absolutely amazing collection of artifacts relating to the history of Sywell Aerodrome, munitions, life during the second world war and aviation archaeology. This small but fascinating collection is curated by enthusiastic and friendly volunteers. As a budding amateur archaeologist I was intrigued by the collections of aircraft remains and the archaeological origins of the museum. John, as one of the archaeologists to excavate them, very kindly talked me through each dig. If, like me, you like to immerse yourself in each display, this free to enter museum will take around an hour and a half to two hours to visit.

Small but interesting aircraft museum, it's only one building but there is plenty on display. Free to visit but with limited opening times, there is a small cafe called the Pilots Mess which is not part of the museum but only a few seconds away. It is just outside Wellingborough and easy to find.

Hall Park, a former family home dating back to the 1400s, was transformed into a public park in 1931. The park retains original features from its time as a family residence and offers a pleasant setting for year-round strolls. Visitors can still access the formal entrance to the Hall. Nearby attractions include Rushden Hall Park, Nene Valley Railway, and Rushden Lakes Shopping Centre. The park features green spaces, parking facilities, toilets, and a museum open on weekends.
A lovely area of greenery. It's not particularly very big and you can probably walk around it within 20 minutes. There is parking off of Hall avenue. There are toilets. There is also a museum open at the weekends. Dogs are allowed but on leads only. However, there is a section gated off specifically for free running dogs, otherwise known as the dog park. Plenty of bins. Plenty of benches. The paths are suitable for buggies in most areas. A children's play area with climbing frames too. There are events held at Hall Park some weekends in the summer, so do check their noticeboards. A small area of nature set within a town, enough to make you believe you're in the country. Certainly not a day event though. Gates are locked overnight.

The Harrington Aviation Museum is a hidden gem located at the historic Bruntingthorpe Aerodrome, where visitors can delve into the fascinating narratives of military aviation. This museum showcases exhibits dedicated to the USAAF bomber group and clandestine missions from World War II, as well as its later role during the Cold War as a missile site.
This museum is nearly as secret today as it was in WW2 We live in Northamptonshire and had never heard of it. We were on our way to somewhere else and saw a small sign saying that there was an aviation museum up a track at the side of the road. Out of curiosity we went to see it. Wow! I am so glad that we discovered this wonderful place. It is well worth visiting and should be better known.

If you enjoy World War 11 history, this is a little gem. Shoes local involvement in the war effort. Has a little coffee shop for coffee & biscuits.

This is a superb little museum, a real gem with a fascinating story to tell. The volunteers are all friendly and knowledgable, and I particularly enjoyed Fred’s introductory talk which provided an excellent overview of the history of the airfield, its squadrons and their activities. The museum also has a lovely tea room and opportunity to purchase books and souvenirs, all at very reasonable prices (the Carpetbaggers history book is a bargain at just £1!). It was also interesting to see inside an airfield Operations Block, which I believe is a unique opportunity to this museum. When you visit don’t forget to stop off at the nearby airfield memorial which is a 5 minute drive from the museum. I highly recommend a visit here; thanks to all involved for making this such a worthwhile place to visit and for keeping history alive.
Steve M — Google review
Excellent Museum. Great staff. All volunteers. Very knowledgeable. Really interesting slices of history. Most of the exhibition is WW2 Op Carpetbagger where 5000 mainly US Servicemen and a Bomber Squadron did hundreds of missions vital to the war effort. Many many unique exhibits all relevant to that mission and in really good condition. Very well displayed with loads of information. Harrington was also a cold war Thor Intermediate Range Ballistic (Nuclear) missile base from '57 to '63. Their expert has very detailed knowledge and wrote a book on it. Great Museum. Well worth a visit. Google have their opening times wrong. Check their own website. For drop-ins, they are only open every OTHER weekend. They do special openings for 12 or more booked in advance.

Checked the website for opening times and it said that it was open until 1700, travelled some distance to get there, picked my 84 year old dad up, only to find out when we arrived that it was closed, both very disappointed. Please update your website!!

An unexpected gem of a museum, jam-packed with interesting equipment, uniforms and stories. The array of World War 2 artefacts is amazing. It's not just about aviation ( these people love aeroplanes!) there is a stunning range of information on the efforts to support the French resistance and a wealth of personal stories to put some context on the exhibits. There is fascinating information about covert operations and awe inspiring accounts of courage and determination from the Allies. Totally unexpectedly, the site also turns out to have accommodated some ot the UK's early nuclear deterrent, the Thor missile , and it is still possible to see where the walls were constructed on the launch pads. Best thing are the volunteers. A huge range of knowledge and a willingness to share it. They are awesome dudes. If you are interested in World War 2, the work of SOE and the genesis of Special Forces operations in modern warfare then this is the place for you! NB. The museum has set opening times. It's not open every day. Check the website and plan to spend as long as you can. We spent 4 and a half hours there - and could have stayed longer! Thanks to the wonderful volunteers there. You guys are brilliant!

Nature in harmony with the modern. The Nene Wetlands Nature Reserve can be find near the Rushden Lakes retail park. There is a lake that you can peddle a swan or if your feeling more energetic you can go out in a canoe, but if like me your looking for a more leisurely activity you can take a walk in the nature trail. It follows the lake around and children can have fun trying to find all the carved wooden animals. At the far side behind the new cinema complex is a small area with climbing frames, spiders, slides and a few other things. This is a fun place to visit when dry, if wet take walking boots or wellington boots

Great place to walk and walk the dogs. Good variety of wildlife to see. Very tranquil. Lots of woodland to explore. Play area for little monsters to burn off lots of energy. Lots of wildlife to observe. Can hire canoes to boat around the lake.

Nene Wetlands-Safe? Why is the wildlife trust failing to act to stop scooters and mopeds riding around the park? It is not only a nuisance it is dangerous. It appears that recently someone was threatened with a hammer by a person on a scooter. Be warned it is no longer the safe place it once was. The wildlife trust view of “ ring the police” is not an acceptable response, as they seem too busy to even respond and ask that you report it online. Making the reserve a more safe and secure place to visit should be a priority.

Nestled within the scenic Irchester Country Park, the Irchester Narrow Gauge Railway Museum offers a fascinating glimpse into the region's rich history of iron ore quarrying. Established in 1987, this free museum is accessible via the historic trackbed of the former Wellingborough Tramway, which once served local quarries. Visitors can explore an impressive collection of over 40 pieces of rolling stock, including both steam and diesel locomotives.
Came across this place by accident with some friends, had an excellent time here. Was incredible chatting to Alex and John, who offered a wealth of stories you rarely come across, but are crucial to the UK's history. The men here are custodians of a national memory that will be lost without their work. Support them!

Irchester Narrow Gauge Railway Museum can be found within Irchester Country Park and is home to a collection of exhibits and industrial artifacts, which include steam and diesel locomotives and a lifesize diorama of a quarry along with many other interesting displays. It is run by volunteers who I have to say have an amazingly knowledge of the local quaries and the the railways that served them. They were particularly engaging with my sons and egar to answer all their questions. Sadly it's only open on a Sundays 10am - 3pm but that only depending on the volunteer availability. There is no admission fee but donations are warmly welcomed.
Villan C — Google review
Great opportunity to learn about the history of the area and see what's been worked on by the volunteers. Very helpful staff and keen to share their knowledge as you walk around the meter gauge locomotives. Dioramas show what the area looked like and the work carried out around Wellingborough, Irchester and Irthlingborough. Irchester Country Park provide paid parking (coin or card) and easy access to the site, definitely worth stopping by. Cash and card accepted by the shop along with QR codes around for online donations if wanted.

Amazing Museum which we came upon last weekend, has friendly people on site, that had the time to explain everything about the site and engines which they were looking after. Plus I had the joy of helping start one of the old engines on the day.
Michael D — Google review
Lovely little museum to visit set in a great park which is good for a nice walk, with ample parking that is very reasonable priced.
Graham J — Google review
Great little gem. Had a look around and the chaps that restore the engines were all lovely blokes and chatted to us about the trains and the history of the place
Scott R — Google review
Great museum and working locomotive workshop. Only open Sundays from 10 as completely run by volunteers, and what amazing people volunteer to run this place. They make things come alive and happy to spend time explaining things to adults and kids alike. We came here for the Jungle Parc zip wire climbing (which was also excellent) and didn't really imagine to also find so much heritage of the areas industrial past to discover too. Amazing to think a locomotive workshop is still working with hand powered tools as they do not have mains power or water. They even gave a little lesson on the fossils and geology under the ground to my 5 year old. We will be back to this lovely park and museum with my father one day. No entrance fee but donations welcome and lots of interesting books and items to browse in the shop.

Wildlife park
Bradlaugh Fields & Barn is a delightful green oasis nestled behind a local Morrisons on Kettering Road in Northampton. This former golf course has become a beloved spot for dog walkers and nature enthusiasts alike, especially during the pandemic when many locals discovered its charm. With various entrances and ample free parking, it offers diverse terrain that caters to all dogs, making it an ideal place to stretch your legs while enjoying the great outdoors.
Bradlaugh Fields & Barn is the perfect place for a peaceful walk, whether you're out enjoying nature, taking the kids for some fresh air, or bringing your dog along (on a lead, of course!). The beautiful forest paths, open green spaces, and rich wildlife make it a wonderful escape from the busy city. It’s well-maintained, quiet, and a great spot to unwind and reconnect with nature. I absolutely love visiting—it's a hidden gem for families, nature lovers, and responsible dog walkers!

Beautiful place to walk ur dogs. Very peaceful and a lovely little cafe in the middle..
Chellie H — Google review
Beautiful area, open space, with lots of nature to see and well looked after. Visited regulary by locals who all know each other, it has a really nice community spirit. The barn is a lovely friendly place on a Saturday morning to have a coffee - ran by volunteers. The field by the barn is usually used by families and children during the day. A lovely local regulary paints small stones and hides them around the barn area for the children (and adults) to find. A great children's play park, and loads of trees and areas to explore. The barn itself runs numerous groups and events, all detailed on their Facebook page. The top fields are mostly child free and a great place to walk, expecially with your dog. Again lots of open space for ball throwing and dogs to run and play. Nathan, a local dog trainer and behaviourist, does dog walks on a Saturday morning attended by dozens of people. With no close roads for parents or dog owners to be overly concerned about, friendly locals and with its green flag status, Bradlaugh fields and Barn is a gem of a place.

Art gallery
Northampton Museum and Art Gallery is a free museum that boasts an extensive shoe collection, along with fine and decorative art as well as local heritage displays. It is home to the world's largest collection of objects related to the history of shoes. The museum has recently expanded in size, featuring a nine-meter-high glazed atrium extension that connects the original building to new galleries and activity space. Additionally, Northamptonshire is known for its renowned shoemakers, some of which are still in operation today.
Lovely and funny exhibition about "worse album covers". Really funny and picking a top 3 was hard 🤣🤣. Also went to the shoe exhibition, great as well. Plus it's free entrance, awesome

Staff are lovely and welcoming on arrival. For it being completely free it was an amazing museum. Plenty of things to see. The pop up exhibition was very fun with things to interact with. My favourite part of the museum/ art gallery was the animals made from scraps, absolutely gorgeous and clever, with such a great message. The artist are very talented. The shoe museum was very fun aswell.

I am writing to express my concern regarding a recent experience at your museum. During our visit, my 3-year-old child was denied access to upstairs floor due to bringing a small balance bike (without pedals). I understand and fully support your efforts to maintain a safe and enjoyable environment for all visitors. However, I would like to respectfully question the necessity of applying such a restriction to a very young child’s balance bike, which is designed specifically for toddlers and does not pose the same risks as a traditional bicycle or scooter. At this age, many children rely on these small bikes for mobility and comfort, especially during longer outings. The bike in question was extremely small, non-motorized, and intended only to help our child navigate the space calmly and safely. I would greatly appreciate clarification on your policy and whether there might be any flexibility or case-by-case consideration, particularly for very young children using balance bikes responsibly. Thank you for your attention to this matter. I hope we can find a reasonable solution that allows families with young children to continue enjoying the museum experience.
Renato L — Google review
Wonderful museum and gallery. The biggest highlight is the dedication to accessibility. Accessible toilets well-sized, clean, and easy to access. All corridors were wide enough for mobility aids, and many doors were automatic. Despite the older elements of the building, it's clear how much effort has been made to create an inclusive environment. The cafe is reasonably priced and the exhibitions were brilliant and somewhat interactive. The shoe exhibition was by far the best!

High ropes course
Jungle Parc, located in the picturesque Irchester Country Park, offers an exhilarating and secure outdoor experience for families. With two distinct courses - the Adventurer Course suitable for ages 4 and above, and the Explorer Course designed for teens and adults - there's something for everyone. The park provides a range of trails with varying difficulty levels, making it perfect for both amateur and professional cyclists seeking a challenge.
Really great little stop here. Didn’t take many photos today though. Parking was £3.50 for the day (12 hours). Pay by card, phone, cash option was available too. There is a nice little food outlet (serving sausage rolls, bacon, burgers, hot and cold drinks, ice cream etc), a ranger area, outbuildings and toilets. There are a couple of car parks too (reasonable size) they were full today. There is a children’s adventure park, for small to young children/early teens. Plenty of benches and seating areas, a large playing field area too. We went on one of the small walks which was nice, large and small pathways (some through the woods too). You can download maps for free via the website too for each route. Phone signal was okay at the main compound. Jungle Parc is right next to the same location too and car park on the right of the main compound. Here there is a child’s adventure rope climb (age and height limits so check before you go), the younger one needs a adult to supervise and help them from the ground as they go round, this was £15 for 1.5 hours, and you could go as many times as you want on the different level routes in this area). My youngest completed all the routes a few times and really enjoyed it! You can also enter this area with dogs and walk them along under the route whilst supervising. The bigger course was good fun, with a couple route options, where on a few occasions you can choose to go to the more extreme route, which is a little more challenging and fun. this was £25 each, but I think you can get a family of 4 discount too. Children aged 10-14 (I think) must be accompanied by an adult on the ropes. If you’re going in larger groups, 1 paying adult per 5 children I think I overheard. From our perspective today, well worth a trip when the weather is okay, and plenty of walks to do, lots of area to sit and chill, plenty for the kids to do too.
Jason K — Google review
We had a brilliant time here a few weeks back, fist time on the challenging course, not to difficult if you are reasonably fit, such a great laugh, we will be back thanks.

So much fun for adults and kids. We were 6 (4 adults and 2 kids under 10). 3 adults went on the Xplorer trail and 1 adult accompanied (not able to participate as an adult on adventurer trails) with 2 kids. The kids loved it!!! Different trails, heights and difficulty. Kids throughly exhausted but very very content. Adults also very happy and tired as well! Highly Recommend as a day out (can also make the most of Irchester country park) Staff very helpful too.
Suzanna K — Google review
Good course, great for kids. We booked for a few months ago, weather was bad on the day and had been forecast bad weather for a few days. I tried calling, and couldn't get through or an answer, we didn't hear nothing so assumed it was still going ahead. Drove 30mins, paid for parking to be then told it was cancelled. Staff on-site where nice about it on the day. Was told to contact head office because we didn't have a new date in mind just yet, Maria at head office was bit rude and lied. The staff at the parc said people had been told during the week that everything had been cancelled and they didn't have contact details for us as their new system had deleted them all but the email Maria sent said the opposit (see attached). Never got a response from my 2nd email, very bad customer service, won't be using Jungle Parc again.

I took my 5 year old daughter here and to begin with she was having a great time the instructor was very informative and the instructions were very easy to follow. How ever on the rocket feature, when it came to a halt on the other side my daughters head banged up against the frame inside the rocket leaving her with a nasty bump and swelling. The staff were helpful in the way that they provided ice packs but on the other hand they were quite cold and unapologetic about what had happened. I had to suggest that they complete an accident form, otherwise I’m sure they wouldn’t have bothered, which for me was quite concerning. For this reason we will not be returning. Health & safety not great … I just feel like they could have been more concerned about my daughters welfare than they were.

Nestled just north of Oundle, Glapthorn Cow Pasture is a serene woodland reserve that offers a tranquil escape for nature lovers. Once part of the historic Rockingham Forest, this charming area is managed by the Wildlife Trust and serves as a habitat for various wildlife, including the rare black hairstreak butterfly during summer months. The landscape features well-maintained paths that make for easy walking, surrounded by diverse flora such as blackthorn scrub and majestic oak trees.
A lovely small wood and whilst we did not see the butterflies we came for( Too early in the year) we had an interesting conversation with one of the volunteers who told us a great deal about the wood and it's butterflies.
Michael A — Google review
Peaceful wood (despite the name) not far from Oundle, home of rare butterflies and other wildlife and in easy walking distance of two other woods (Short Wood and Southwick Wood). Easy walk along wide, well maintained rides. Mostly blackthorn scrub in the south and ash in the north but varied and plenty of oak standards, there's also a small pond. Parking in the lane opposite the entrance. If you're the sort of person who only appreciates the countryside with fairground rides and restaurants, it's really not for you. But a good place for walking, relaxing, nature study and adventurous play for children.

Small wood , just outside Glapthorn village,(north of Oundle), originally part of the ancient Rockingham Forest. Some off - road parking available opposite the entrance, there is a small pond in the top left corner, Nightingales and Owls Muntjac deer can sometimes be seen .
