Upwey Wishing Well Tearooms & Water Gardens in Dorset is a perfect destination for a leisurely day out. Take a stroll through the enchanting water gardens, make a wish at the well, and then head to the tearoom for a delightful meal. Indulge in traditional afternoon tea or high tea with delectable handmade cakes and their famous wishing well fruit scones.
A beautiful setting, with ample seating both inside and out. Large menu choice, it's certainly not the cheapest but the quality of the food shines through. First class attentive service. They offer events including weddings. It would provide an amazing backdrop to any wedding.

Beautiful, stunning, best tea time ever! The whole place was gorgeous. I felt like stepping into a wonderland. Best part was - I had my afternoon tea next to the water and a peaceful stream with ducks and ducklings. Customer service was good too. What not to love!? Definitely highly recommended for anyone visiting Dorsett.
Eileen S — Google review
Interesting place to visit for a meal or just coffee and cake. Good selection of the latter and plenty of choice on the food menu. You can either sit inside or outdoors in the lovely gardens. Excellent service with very friendly and helpful staff.
Harry H — Google review
Absolutely fabulous few hours here. A wonderful, friendly greeting and service, a lovely table and the honour of enjoying their High Tea at 3pm today. Every item across the 3 plates were delicious! Then had a little stroll to the wishing well and around the garden. Stunning! Parking was easy in the church car park just a few feet up the road, with the request of a tiny donation to the church. Highly recommend going for a visit! Will definitely be back when I’m next in the area.
Vikki W — Google review
Great service, friendly staff. Beautiful gardens in an amazing setting and lovely freshly made cakes. I ordered the bacon sandwich which oddly was served with hash browns but to be fair they were the best hash browns I've ever had. I would highly recommend.

Atmospheric and fascinating place to have lunch. Food lovely and cakes divine and good value. 100% recommended. Nice to dine amongst the exotic plants overlooking the ancient spring head and make a wish.
Ross P — Google review
A stunning and unique spot. We came to the Wishing Well for our Grandmas birthday. We had a wander around the beautiful gardens and decided to sit outside. The staff were very accomodating and Wendy moved 2 of the tables together so we could sit by the well. We ordered the high tea and some items of the menu, which were all delicious and came out quickly. Overall, we had a lovely experience and would recommend it to anyone visiting Dorset.
Finlay M — Google review
Very nice cream tea, good service, friendly staff, nice China and surroundings.... Lovely garden with wishing well.... Parking may be an issue but church car park nearby had space for a £1 donation in the box at the entrance!

Hotel
Nestled in the charming village of Evershot, Summer Lodge Country House Hotel & Restaurant offers a classic country house experience. The hotel boasts opulent decor with grand fireplaces, chandeliers, and plush furnishings. Guests can indulge in fine dining at the acclaimed restaurant and relax at the swanky hotel spa or take a dip in the indoor pool.
We have visited Summer Lodge a few times and are never disappointed. We recently went for a few days to celebrate our anniversary. From the moment we arrived we were made to feel special. Staff were so lovely and could not do enough for us. Lots of little touches, treats and attention to detail throughout our stay. Food, wine and cocktails were amazing. Spa was very peaceful to spend a few hours in. Location is outstanding with beautiful views from every direction. This is honestly our favourite place to visit in the whole world. Thank you to everyone at Summer Lodge for making our stay so very special.
Ali H — Google review
Stunning hotel. Fantastic rooms, great food. Lovely location with guided walks that are easy to follow if you want to get out. Staff couldn't be more helpful and friendly. It was my birthday and they made me feel really special. Pool area and spa was great. Will definitely be back. Fabulous.
Hannah W — Google review
Wow what an incredible hotel. Really enjoyed every aspect of this excellent hotel. 2 night stay and wished we had booked longer. From the moment we arrived to our departure it was a great experience. All the staff were so welcoming with a special mention for Jack and Buster. and lovely reception staff. We were so impressed with the level of professionalism and high standard of staff training. The food was excellent and we enjoyed dinner at The Acorn too. Would highly recommend this hotel...try it for yourself. We will be back. Big thank you to everyone involed.
Susan C — Google review
I took my family there for lunch on Sunday. On arrival the parking was unusually confusing, on entering the staff were not very friendly, and we waited to be seated , and asked what drinks we would like. The dining room was very uncomfortable, with a million flys and wasps present. The three course meal we all had was superb. Couldn’t fault the food at all. They must have the very best of Chefs. I would not go back, because the staff were totally uncaring, apart from a young waitress
Keith W — Google review
What a gem of a place. The perfect weekend away. Staff are outstanding, you really feel part of their family and they go above and beyond for you. The house and grounds are stunning and made me so proud of our gorgeous little island! Dinner was out of this world. Rooms are lovely, spa is good if not a little on the small side. Had an amazing facial. We'll be back!
Ayesha M — Google review
It's a lovely hotel with a distinctly English charm. My room was very pleasant. However, this hotel is said to be dog friendly, whereas they are accepted almost nowhere 😣 For those who are chilly, I don't know what it's like in winter as there is no double glazing and the insulation isn't perfect. Admittedly it is an old house with authentic charm.... The value for money is not the best as this hotel is expensive and perhaps not up to the standard we expect from this type of establishment.
Sophie C — Google review
Beautiful garden, spa and village. The rooms need a bit of updating but gorgeous mattress and big bathroom. The food is amazing, bravo for the chef and the service knows what they are doing! Loved my wk there. Super doggy friendly also!
Julia R — Google review
My daughter gifted a voucher to my wife and I as a Birthday gift for a cream tea at summer lodge. We sat down expecting a lovely treat. On being served we noticed that 2 of the scones were savoury cheese scones that are not compatible for a cream tea .We asked for them to be exchanged for normal scones. The server returned a considerable time later with 2 fresh ones that were completely inedible. Raw in the middle. Very disappointed. It was a 85 mile round trip. No offer for a refund. Very disappointed as we thought we were in for a very special treat.will not be going back any time soon.

Tea house
Nestled in the vibrant heart of Bournemouth, Steam Vintage Tea Rooms is a delightful destination for those seeking a taste of nostalgia. This charming tea room captures the essence of the 40s and 50s with its shabby chic decor, featuring beautifully adorned vintage china and an inviting atmosphere reminiscent of classic jazz and rock 'n' roll.
Beautiful tea room with a wonderful owner who could not have been nicer or more welcoming. Ignore all the bad reviews , we sat in with two other sets of guests and everyone was happy. This lady is so warm and made us feel so welcome . I’ve had a lot of afternoon teas and this was the best one to date. Proper cakes (so many offer those weird wet trifle pots) We eat a lot and we were full up, really generous portions and a lot of sandwiches. meant to take photos at start but we were so hungry I forgot. The scones were so crumbly and light. Beautiful place and off the beaten track. We parked around the corner by a school free.
Sandra M — Google review
Fabulous afternoon tea. Lovely selection of very fresh sandwiches, coronation chicken was outstanding, then the scone, served warm was an absolute delight, both jams, strawberry and blackcurrant were lovely. The chocolate cake was nice too. As for the better half's gf lacto free tea, the bread was excellent, the scone as good as mine and the coconut clotted cream lush. The waitress was lovely to, we really enjoyed our visit. Very highly recommended, especially the freshly baked scones, and intolerances catered for

Great tea tasty sandwiches delicious cakes and also do gluten free also great. Well presented and good choice of teas. 50s style decoration and lots of artifacts of the era. Pretty crockery and teapots . All makes an interesting experience. The food is all very fresh. The cafe is not very big so worth booking.
Denis P — Google review
Been here 3x's and love each visit! The cakes are moist, scones fresh, sandwiches full and tea with free refills with an afternoon tea! The afternoon tea is delicious and generously huge. It's the best I've had and we visit a lot of different places. The decor is quirky and very vintage! The owners are friendly and so nice! Love this place!
Sille B — Google review
Booked a table of six for my sister's birthday. The lovely lady who runs this place was amazingly helpful and she asked for dietary requirements in advance (two vegans) so she could bake up some vegan options from scratch. We had a lovely afternoon, in this adorable Tea Room 💖
Elinor C — Google review
Lovely place. Quality food, great service. Full on vintage too, old vinyls on a radiogram playing. Covid protocols running well. Sanitiser, tweaks to layout. Everything clean, and deep clean of tables after customers leave. The option to try lemon curd or normal preserves simple, clever and a nice new touch.
ItsUmpa — Google review
Loved this place! Vegan options available (but you have to pay 1.50£ more), very delicious scones, cakes and sandwiches with free refill tea (it's not possible to drink that much tea:)) they have no pieces twice, each cup is different

What a lovely afternoon tea we had! The food was delicious! Nothing too much trouble for the girls, always smiling and asking if we were OK and if they could do anything else for us - a real credit to you Amanda! Only thing missing was you!

The charming Downhouse Farm Cafe is a delightful spot to enjoy a meal. With its picturesque location and friendly staff, this quaint tea house offers a menu brimming with delicious options. Visitors can indulge in mouthwatering dishes such as the garlic mushrooms and crab bap, which are both described as incredibly tasty. The cream tea is also highly recommended for its generous portion size. The breakfast selection is particularly noteworthy, providing a satisfying start to the day.
My girlfriend and I enjoyed a lovely meal here on a chilly winters day. We ordered the spicy lentil special with granary bread. The lentils were delicious and the bread was soft and fresh. We also has a scone with strawberry jam and clotted cream. All ingredients used were extremely fresh and high quality, you can definitely tell it's locally sourced. Highly recommended at any time of the year!
Joshua E — Google review
Lovely, lovely little cafe, we were lucky to get a seat though, so worth calling ahead if like us you've just done a two mile walk to get there! Food was superb, garlic mushrooms were the best ever had 😊 and cream tea was easily enough for two. Lovely staff too in a beautiful location. Would highly recommend. 😊
Kate W — Google review
Downhouse farm cafe is a lovely place to stop for lunch. I can thoroughly recommend the crab bap, it was fresh, tasty and the portion was huge. The summer crumble was extremely tasty. The service was friendly and welcoming, we will definitely visit again if we are passing.
Peter C — Google review
Worth the walk We visited the cafe twice and went on a recommendation. It’s a little difficult to find first time if you are a city slicker, but common sense Puts you in the right direction. Cream tea with plain or fruit scones are enough for me as a lunch and I couldn’t drink all my tea on both occasions. The home made food is lovely. It’s worth a walk and as dogs are welcome, it’s an easy decision. Cosy and quaint. Cards are taken as is cash. We will return another time.
Team R — Google review
We had a delightful lunch here after walking from Seatown, en route to Eype beach. A beautiful setting and relief from the heat under the trees. The food was delicious- comforting, tasty & homemade. We had spicy veggie Dahl & a cheese & onion pasty. The service was also wonderful. :) All in all a clear highlight from our trip to west Dorset.
Stacey B — Google review
Tucked out of the way down a a narrow bumpy lane the Downhouse Farm Cafe can seem a bit off the beaten path but believe me it is totally worth it. An oasis of fantastic food in wonderfully peaceful surroundings. The fish pie was particularly good, honestly one of the best I have ever had, and the bubble and squeak was terrific also. Not cheap, but not crazy prices either, we spent £37 for drinks, a main course and deserts for two (and that was the priceyist stuff on the menu), so not bad. Loads of nice walks near by so well worth making a destination for a ramble, and with such good food (and real ale and cider too) it's well worth the trek! Do your self a favour, go there.
Mike D — Google review
Alfresco cafe, really lovely food in a farmyard enclosed garden setting. Nice menu choice. Reasonably priced. Excellent friendly staff. Good Gluten Free options and GF Bread. Venue just off the SW Coastal Path and well worth it for a stop.

Superb little cafe from the farmhouse. Bake thier own scones, their own jams and creams. Really worth the effort walking to this place for a lunch. Reasonalble prices for the holiday area. Highly recommended. Very dog friendly with water bowls everywhere.

Nestled in a grand Georgian hotel, Moonfleet Manor offers bright rooms with beach views, indoor pools, and a spa. The manor has a rich history as the backdrop for John Meade Falkner's novel "Moonfleet" and is located on the Jurassic Coast overlooking Fleet Lagoon. Part of the Luxury Family Hotels chain, it prides itself on being family-friendly with thoughtfully decorated rooms that can accommodate up to six people.
We stayed for a long weekend at the hotel and enjoyed every minute of our stay, they upgraded us to a much better room, provided a bed to our dog and some treats. The swimming pool is great, the facilities to wash the dogs is awesome. Great breakfast with plenty of options. Nice kids clubs and 2 hours complementary daily. Lovely views from the hotel. We will be back soon! Thank you so much Tracey and Wendy! you clearly deserved a nice pay rise ! x
Welcome N — Google review
We just spent 1 night here, and wow what an easy break with our 15 month old son! Incredible facilities in the play barn, a great childrens menu and brilliant Bugaboo cots/highchairs/pushchairs! We didnt use the child care facilities but the activities looked great! Location wise its got amazing views but it is quite remote, with nothing walkable. I have only given 4 stars due to the service. We had to sit in the lounge as we had our dog, but we constantly had to chase for drinks orders. However, the biggest issue we had was our dinner. We ordered and the childrens food came out really quickly, which is great, but the adult food took another 45 minutes to arrive. By then we had ratty tired children who didnt want to be at a table anymore. We also then had issues with the bill, but this was quickly resolved with reception when we realised. Finally, we also ordered our son lunch before we left and after 30 minutes chased for it and it had clearly not been processed through the till, leaving to a hangry toddler! I would visit again and reccomend due to the ease with a toddler but the restaurant and lounge service really does need to be looked at!
Kirsty S — Google review
I'm currently pregnant with my first child, so we wanted to spend a short holiday just me, husband and our dog. This was 10/10 place, looooooved everything, good area for walks, we got the afternoon tea with doggy meal and our dog loved it. The only thing o regret was not booking the pregnancy massage in advance because it was absolutely full book. But I'll be sure to book a nice treatment next time. I'm definitely saving this place for the future, they had soooo many activities for children and saw so many families having a good time. Lots of pregnant woman on the same weekend too so clearly is popular.
Johana L — Google review
We’ve just had a brilliant week at Moonfleet Manor with our toddler & baby. It’s a fantastic hotel for families — really well set up for young children with a huge play barn, swimming pool, outdoor play area, cinema room and loads of games inside. There is also a nursery (The Den) but we didn’t make use of the complimentary childcare. All the staff were so friendly and welcoming. Special thanks to Karen, who was lovely and gave us great tips for exploring Weymouth, and Reece, who couldn’t have done more for us and was super helpful and knowledgeable. Our room was spacious and comfortable, with lots of storage and thoughtful touches like a nappy bin, baby changing mat & baby bath. You can also call reception any time to get hot milk for the kids, and they also clean & sterilise all bottles, which was brilliant. They have really thought of everything to help take the daily stresses away! The hotel itself is calm and relaxing, with plenty of cosy spots to sit and enjoy a coffee. We was impressed with how good the food was in the restaurant, really tasty & good menu. The location is great too, close to lots of places to visit within an hour’s drive. The only small thing we noticed was that reception could sometimes use an extra person, as there were a few times when there was no one there and you had to wait a while or go & find someone to help. They could also do with a waiter dedicated to the lounge areas. But overall, everyone was so kind and helpful that it didn’t take away from our stay at all. We had a wonderful week and would definitely recommend Moonfleet Manor to any family looking for a relaxing getaway in Dorset! We’ll be back!!
F. D — Google review
Fun and welcoming family hotel in a stunning location. Staff are wonderful, food tasty and atmosphere relaxed. Let down slightly by parts of the resort like the skittles and mini golf that look like they haven't been renovated since the 70s, probably better to not have them open at all as there's no shortage of other things to do. The pool is the main problem, a shabby setup that perhaps had a lick of paint in recent years when a bulldozer was needed! It would be an amazing location for a new indoor/outdoor pool well worth the investment
Dan — Google review
The accommodation and facilities are great. The staff are lovely and very attentive. Can’t fault it at all. For kids this is the perfect getaway. They have marshmallows round the fire, short movies for toddlers in the cinema room and an Easter egg hunt. They also have a lovely clean swimming pool with good showering facilities. The restaurant is quite overpriced roughly £35-40 each for starters and main course and that’s not including drinks. Bottles of beer are £7 and wine is £10 a glass or £45 a bottle. If you want to go somewhere to meet other families this place is great.
Joshua S — Google review
Service is a mixed bag. Between 5 and 1 star depending on the person. Bar and Restaurant 5 star and reception anything but helpful and friendly. shame. Summer flies are an issue not only in the food and drinks area but also in the bedroom and bathroom. Room was extremely hot on arrival. AC unit sitting there off. Could and in my opinion should have been switched on (like is was in Fowey Hall sister hotel). Unpacking with two kids in a sauna like room was less than a good start. We went for a long walk but there was no cartons of water available at reception. Glass bottle or trip to town was the solution. For these prices I expect more. This hotel was probably once a gem but is in serious need of reinvestment.

The Bournemouth West Cliff Hotel & Spa is a stylish and elegant hotel located in the bustling West Cliff area of Bournemouth. It offers a refined spa with treatment rooms for massages and facials, as well as a sauna, steam room, hot tub, and swimming pool. The hotel's brasserie restaurant provides a delightful dining experience with the option to dine on the terrace during warmer months.
We were really impressed by this hotel. Staff were lovely, room was spacious, clean and tidy. The facilities especially the pool were all great. Food was really good quality and good value in the restaurant. The happy hour from 4pm until 7pm was super value in the bar. If there was one thing that I'd have like to have had it was a small fridge in the room but that's not a negative in any way just a personal preference
Simon S — Google review
Location is perfect distance to the beach and restaurants, 10 minutes walk to both. The walk back from the beach is very uphill. Parking at the hotel is £15pn but literally outside the hotel on every side is free street parking (hotel fails to tell you this). The staff are amazing, super friendly. Superior double room was a good size, however the toilet smelt of constant urine. Overall staying in the room wasn't very pleasant (specially being pregnant) because of the smell and it was still there after it was cleaned. Breakfast is average nothing great, first morning breakfast was pretty cold. Spa is ok too, what you'd expect for a 3 star. Would we go back to the hotel? Maybe if we it was cleaned properly yes otherwise no.

Amazing staff members, especially Josh! The facility was very well maintained, the rooms were spotless, and the team was always ready to help with any questions we had. The food was incredible with so many delicious options to choose from. I highly recommend this place and can’t wait to come back again!

A couple weeks ago myself and three members of my family booked and went to the spa. Staff were really friendly and kind. Facilities were okay. A bit cramped at times especially the ladies changing room, lots of waiting for changing rooms/bath rooms as well as to shower. Staff at the spa were very friendly. We had lunch there, I had the fish and chips and it was lovely, large portions and good quality food and service. The lady at the bar was absolutely lovely, before our spa session she arranged for our food to be prepared earlier as we needed to leave early.

Location was good. Room was basic and didnt really live up to the website. I stayed on a Wednesday night. There was loud entertainment on which I could unfortunately hear from my room. It went on later than expected. There is a pool and a gym and the restaurant was nice. Staff were helpful.

Stay here a few times. Always a good atmosphere. Staff are helpful and the rooms are clean and comfortable. I would recommend their newly refurbished rooms if you want air conditioned comfort in the summer. We dined in the restaurant and thought the menu was comprehensive. Food was delicious. Overall a good place to spend a holiday or just a weekend.
Raymond A — Google review
Staff at the hotel are wonderful We stayed in a deluxe room with king size bed , good size room with air conditioning with breakfast included. The breakfast was buffet style and could have been better. The restaurant food in our opinion was expensive for what you had and menu limited for a 7 night stay. The spa facilities were excellent. Good selection of bars, restaurants and shops (much better than Bournemouth ) in Westbourne , less than 5 minutes away on the local bus , the bus stop is 5 minutes from the hotel.
Kerry C — Google review
We went for a spa day, and it was amazing. All the staff we talked to were so friendly and seemed to be enjoying their jobs. Big shout out to Brett in the spa he was amazing, made sure we knew where everything was and what time our treatment was. The massage was first class, the right amount of pressure and the young lady often asked if everything was OK. The hotel that we saw was clean and very well maintained. Will be looking at going back some time soon

Hotel Collingwood, located near the Bournemouth seafront, offers a relaxed atmosphere with amenities such as free Wi-Fi, parking, a gym, pool, and sauna. The hotel's elegant tea lounge provides three different afternoon tea options with unlimited tea and coffee. Additionally, guests can enjoy the traditional restaurant and modern leisure center. The sophisticated tea lounge serves a delightful Everyday afternoon tea option featuring finger sandwiches, warm scones with clotted cream and strawberry preserve, and an assortment of mini cakes.
We had the pleasure of staying here last night. We wanted to try it out, as our wedding reception venue there in 2027. The location and venue for the wedding is great, but from a point of view as a guest. I can honestly say it was a pleasure. Hotel was great, room was lovely and clean. Food was to a high standard. Staff were very nice and the manager....if only all were to this high standard, caring and nothing was to much trouble for him. His staff obviously love to work under him as they give that little extra too. If felt more like we were among friends then hotel staff. Highly recommend staying here. Pool was clean and of a warm standard by granddaughters loved the games room. Will be staying there again when I visit my family who live in Bournemouth.

This was our second visit to Hotel Collingwood and we will definitely be back. It was before schools were out for the summer, but the weather was glorious and we spent lots of time on the beach, and making good use of the game room. The weather was so good, we never used the indoor heated pool, as were in the sea instead. The staff are very friendly and helpful, the breakfast is good, and the location is excellent. Huge plus that they allow dogs. Do book early, but this is the best hotel we've found in Bournemouth and will definitely return.

Parking good - though a cost of £12.50, which i thought was a bit steep. You can hear everything outside your room, and when i realised this, i was praying my child would be able to sleep through it. Because the doors and walls might as well not be there, as you can hear everything going on outside your room, every single step! In my room, there was creaky floor boards and we were always stepping on them. (Obvs). Showers were nice. Our floor wasn't properly hovered, i felt it was hovered only in certain areas as there was debris on the floor, which is extremely annoying when walking around barefoot in your room. Woke up to my daughter wiping the bottom of her foot. Pool was decent and my daughter liked the pool, though small and cozy. My major bugbear was the cups in the entire hotel, cups in our room were dirty, cups on the dining area dirty! Maybe their machine needed salt or something but would lime to know if anyone else noticed this. Had to swap cups on tables until found an actual clean one, which still needed wiping.

It was a fantastic experience! 3/4 minutes of walking distance from the beach stairs, close to the pier also. Excellent customer service, staff were lovely and always happy to help, polite, kind, extremely accommodating. Clean swimming pool, my kid enjoyed their indoor play arrangements. Very good breakfast, big shout out to all the servers and host, even though it was busy they didn't miss any of their steps of service! I am highly satisfied and for sure I will be back! However, after using the pool, I hung my t-shirt in the gent's changing room in the evening. It's my bad cause I forgot to take it back with me, asked them while checking out, couldn't find it. Can't blame them, but lost property needs to be taken care properly also.

I stayed at Hotel Collingwood in Bournemouth with my girlfriend, and honestly, it was a really solid choice for a weekend getaway. The rooms were clean and comfortable — nothing flashy, but exactly what you want when you’re just looking for a nice base near the beach. And speaking of location, you couldn’t ask for much better: about five minutes to the seafront and only ten minutes into town where all the pubs and restaurants are. Super convenient. The staff were genuinely pleasant and welcoming, which made the place feel relaxed. Breakfast was a highlight for me — I went for the avocado and poached eggs on toast, which was fresh, well done, and actually a nice way to start the day before heading out. Overall, it’s not trying to be overly fancy, but it ticks all the boxes for a comfortable, well-located hotel by the sea. Would happily stay here again.

We hosted our BU Law Society Annual Ball at Hotel Collingwood on the 29/04/2025, and the experience was excellent. Marcin and Ellie were incredibly helpful throughout the entire process, which was relieving as our society’s committee had no experience planning such a huge event. They were accommodating and acted quickly to prevent and solve any issues during the evening, meaning our event went off without a hitch. We have received positive feedback and couldn’t agree more that the venue itself was beautiful and the dinner was great. The price made it more affordable as we were catering to students. I would 100% recommend Hotel Collingwood for events such as these.

We stayed 3 nights dinner, bed & breakfast for our mini honeymoon break. Staff were all friendly and very concientious. Our room was lovely, quite a bit of noise from the road outside but that is outside the hotel's control. All our meals were very good, with the beef and pork evening meals actually being in the top 5 of any we'd ever had. The pool and jacuzzi were fabulous - small but perfect. We plan to go back each year for our anniversary as we have such happy memories of our stay.

Attended a friend's birthday party here over a weekend. Friday night bingo went down well in the bar, brunch was lovely (nice to have gluten free options which were very tasty) on the Saturday and the party in the evening was brilliant. Staff and DJ all really cheerful and service was always quick. Lovely boat ride round Poole harbour (organised independently) was a lovely touch and very lucky with the weather

The Lobster Pot, located near the iconic Portland Bill lighthouse, is a family-run restaurant renowned for its Dorset cream tea and unchanged scone recipe since 1952. It's a favorite spot for coastal walkers and bird watchers due to its stunning scenery and wildlife. The restaurant offers fresh seafood, delicious roast dinners, daily specials, and amazing desserts with excellent service. Visitors can enjoy the incredible view while indulging in their famous cream teas or whippy ice cream.
Great cafe perfectly situated for the Lighthouse next door and amazing views. Excellent menu and customer service. Food was good quality and plenty of outdoor seating with parasols.

1st time visit. It's a lovely restaurant in a stunning location with a captive customer base but for the price you should not be serving what looked and tasted like previously frozen chips alongside your fish. Wasn't keen on the flat scone which was a bit dry, some little improvements here and there and you will nail it!
Zabeer R — Google review
The food was good but the service was amazing. If you want something sharp or tangy, do ask for their English mustard. My Asian pallet appreciated it so much 🤭
Amir H — Google review
The cream tea was good with a delicious scone. I believe however that the menu is too expensive for cheap cafe food and one of the waitresses was quite rude.
Chapman B — Google review
Really rather pleasant place to visit. Super friendly staff. Small gift shop to visit as well. We had a window table for two, overlooking the sea where we had our breakfasts. Coffee wasn’t so great but the food tasty to be honest!
Robert S — Google review
Very expensive for what you get. I ordered the stacker burger (£15) and received a very basic and dry beef burger. When you call it the stacker burger you expect more than a very basic burger with nothing on it besides some fried onions. The chips were basic frozen soggy variety. Maybe the other options are better, but what I got was well below all standards.
Mike M — Google review
This cafe is next to the lighthouse and worthy of a stop because it is right next to the sea cliff. We tried to get inside but it was full, so we resided ourselves to the benches outside. The service was quick, the coffees ok and the crab sandwich excellent.
Darren S — Google review
Beautiful haddock, chips and peas. The batter was melt-in-the-mouth, and the chips were done perfectly. Vegan and meat dishes (burgers, lasagne, etc) are also available. The waitress was pleasant and knowledgeable. She remembered a full order of food and drinks without needing to write it down, which was a nice touch. In short a stunning eatery in a must-visit location. Would recommend to anyone. Will definately go back soon. BE WARNED!! You must phone up to book, as every table was full, and there was an ever increasing queue of people turning up on an ad-hoc basis. Lunch slots are 12pm or 12:30 only as a rule, and to get a chance of a table by the window, you must choose the 12:00 slot. Bravo! 5 stars all round!!👍😋

The Blue Pool is a natural swimming hole with waters that change color from green to blue due to mineral deposits. It features a nostalgic teahouse built in 1935, offering homemade cream teas and overlooks the ever-changing waters. The area also includes 20 acres of woods and heathland with hiking trails. The tea rooms have original features from 1935 and serve freshly baked goods on the terrace or by the fireplace. Additionally, it's dog-friendly, welcoming pets on leads.
A great afternoon at The Blue Pool. Stunning landscape, beautiful pool, peaceful woodlands with masses of heather to wander through en route to the viewpoint via steps, but if you can't manage those, (I didn't try any more!) there is a circular accessible easy walk that does not detract from the wildness and scenery of the forest. I saw a deer just meandering above us through the bracken - magic - and a little herd over the fence near the car park. Would recommend the Blue Pool for all ages.
Maggie W — Google review
We recently visited Blue Pool and overall, it was a lovely outing. The walk itself is beautiful, with picturesque views and peaceful surroundings that make for a very pleasant stroll. The tea rooms have been done very well — clean, charming, and a great spot to relax. There are also plenty of places to sit and enjoy a picnic, which is a real plus. The site is suitable for all ages, and children in particular will love the various opportunities to explore along the way. There are some great facts dotted around the route, adding a little educational fun to the adventure. That said, the full walk can be completed quite quickly — around 10 minutes on the short route or about 30 minutes if you take the long path — which felt a little underwhelming as adults. Naturally, if you're with children, the walk becomes more engaging and takes longer as they stop to explore and play. While we understand that the site is somewhat limited due to its geography, we did feel that the admission price was a little steep given the relatively short walking time. Still, it's a very well-kept facility and a genuinely beautiful spot to visit. In summary: a lovely, family-friendly place with stunning views and well-maintained paths, ideal for a light stroll or a picnic. Just be aware that it’s a shorter walk than you might expect, especially if visiting without children.
S31BY — Google review
A lovely and tranquil place for a walk around, with gorgeous views amongst nature. The best time to visit is in a bright sunny day to get all the best colours of the water and foliage. There are dragonflies a plenty and the peacock wandering around majestically. The price is a little steep but still not too bad, the pathways could be signposted a little better or with a recommendation for how you can make a route of all the pathways in one go. Dogs are welcome if kept on leads and you can get food and drink in the Tea Room. Be careful on the road in the way out, there’s quite a few potholes!
Jamie H — Google review
What a fantastic place. Plenty to do for you to spend the whole day here. The views are beautiful, lots of trails to walk and explore. The children's play area is great fun. We didn't eat here but the restaurant looked great. Lots of benches around the site for picnics. Plenty of bits to occupy the kids like searching for fairies. Cute little gift shop at the entry/exit.

Took the two Granddaughters here today for the Halloween Trail and Pumpkin Carving. We all had a fabulous time looking for all the Ghosts and Ghouls that are dotted along the trail. We then sat and carved out two scary Pumpkin Heads to take home for the doorstep before having a delicious lunch in the Art Deco Tearooms. Well done The Blue Pool team on an excellent day out 👏🏻👻💀☠️

We visited The Blue Pool whilst on holiday in Devon, and looking for a walk for the pup. This is such an incredible place and well worth the visit! We followed the fairy and gnome trail round and vered off onto some of the other little paths too, and there's so much to explore. The whole area is well maintained and kept and we couldn't fault our experience. The rope bridge was a firm favourite! We also had coffee in the tea rooms (the cakes looked incredible too!) and also ice cream which was good, and even had doggy ice cream. Would highly recommend as a half day/full day out for all the family!

Absolutely stunning place. The colour of the pool is beautiful. Gorgeous walks, lots of benches to sit down and admire the view. My husband and daughter loved the rope bridge. So peaceful, we could only hear the birds and the breeze in the trees. The tea rooms were very welcome with a nice selection of food, cakes and drinks, all fresh and served well. Well worth a visit.

A Delightful Afternoon Tea Experience We visited Frieda’s Tearoom for the first time and were thoroughly impressed. The afternoon tea was beautifully presented, with a delicious selection of sandwiches and cakes—each bite was so moreish and thoughtfully made. The tea itself was perfectly brewed and complemented the relaxed, welcoming atmosphere. Service was attentive, friendly, and made us feel right at home. If we lived closer to Bournemouth, this would easily become our go-to spot for afternoon tea and catching up with friends. Highly recommended!

Amazing 💕 The sandwiches were delicious, tasted very fresh. Perfect warm scones. Super soft, fluffy cakes😍 Strawberry milkshake also super delicious. It's such a pretty venue. We did just walk in but it was early, just as we were finishing up someone walked and was told there were no tables but they could get take away, some tables did have reserved on them so I'm guessing the get booked up in the afternoons. We will definitely be going back to try more of their menu. The team working were very friendly and accommodating.

I was so hungry when we arrived I completely forgot to take a picture of the breakfast before I started it. It was very oily (see the pictures attached). The bread was soaked in margarine so I ate the edges only. The baked beans were really mushy. It wasn't value for money as we spent over £40 for two oily English breakfast and coffees. I wouldn't expect to pay more than £5 each breakfast as it was such a greasy cafe breakfast instead of a high quality boutique breakfast. I would not recommend to go here.

Charming little shop serving tea, cakes and a very well considered light lunch selection. I love the option of a tea cup of soup to go with your sandwich for people who don't want to eat too much! You can, of course have a normal bowl of soup if you wish.

I booked this little tea place for me and my friends for my birthday! After reading reviews, I was a little worried that I’d made a mistake. I was wrong. Food was lovely and the staff, even though they were very busy, were very lovely and apologetic about wait times. Me and my friends had a lovely time there, and for many it was their first cream tea experience! My only complaint is that there was dust in one of our jugs, but other than that, a really enjoyable service! Thank you!

Nestled on the banks of the River Frome, The Priory Hotel is a charming 16th-century country house hotel in Dorset. With its elegant rooms and suites, many featuring French doors opening to scenic river views and marble bathrooms with whirlpool tubs, this hotel exudes old-world charm and sophistication. Situated near Corfe Castle, Lulworth Cove, and Studland Bay beaches, it serves as an idyllic base for a romantic getaway.
From the moment we walked through the doors of The Priory in Wareham, we were made to feel incredibly welcome. Wayne looked after us from start to finish — his warmth, professionalism, and attention to detail truly made our stay exceptional. The service throughout was impeccable, the room was beautifully presented and comfortable, and the grounds were absolutely stunning — a peaceful haven right by the river. Dinner and breakfast were both outstanding; every dish was perfectly prepared and full of flavour. It’s rare to find somewhere that delivers on every level, but The Priory does exactly that. A truly memorable experience — we can’t wait to return. Thank you Katie, Ben and Jeremy All the best to you all Frank & Evelyn

The setting is delightful and very restful being on the banks of the River Frome.

Lovely quiet room, (Brownsea). Amazingly large and well kept gardens, excellent car parking, lovely spacious dining room with great view of the River Frome. Lots of public spaces and a cosy lounge. Well stocked bar. Dinner very good with a sensibly mixed choice of menu. Wine list extensive, but a few were missing, and a lot were very expensive. Breakfast had a wide choice, but the content was disappointing, and felt cheap.Overall a pleasant experience.

What a weekend! A simply fantastic stay at The Priory Wareham. From check in to check out and everything between was just perfection. As soon as we stepped onto the grounds I just felt calmer. It is such a peaceful location and we stayed in the Swan Room which I highly, highly recommend as you have your own terrace on the bank of the river - stunning! We had cocktails in the bar which came with some beautiful little canapes and then the most unbelievable 3 course dinner. If the weather had been a little better we would have borrowed a paddle board and gone out on the river but will save that for next time. The staff were so friendly, the room was just perfect and the Jacuzzi bath was such a luxury! We only stayed for 24 hours but it felt like so much longer and was just the reset we needed. Thank you to The Priory for the most perfect birthday stay.

I just had the most amazing stay at Priory Wareham! The location couldn't be better, right in the heart of the enchanting town of Wareham, making it the ultimate base for exploring the breathtaking beauty of Dorset. Florian K — Google review
Hotel location: not far from the town centre, and approximately half a kilometre from the beach, only one road to cross if you go through the park. Just a word of warning, Bournemouth is hilly, the hotel is midway up one, you can avoid the steep hill by using the side streets that will take you to the main high street (which is broken into two sections with the gardens passing in the middle), McDonald's and Greggs (with a large seating area) are all both on the near side of the high street, Primark has a Costa Coffee upstairs on the other side of the high street. There is a Tesco Express at the bottom of the hill around the corner to the right (approximately 300m from the hotel). Don't bother walking up the hill when leaving the hotel, it's just offices. Room: 212 second floor, courtyard view, good sized room, ample storage space, fridge handy for storing bottled drinks and keeping small items cool like chocolate bars. I found the mattress caused cramping in my legs and feet even when well hydrated. Room 212 is next to the left which sounds like a roller coaster's chain lift (got woken up at 4am by someone using it). On the plus side, hot chocolate, tea and coffee available in the rooms, with biscuits, all topped up daily, I really love having a hot chocolate, so I made sure that I used up my daily allocation (I did take one down to dinner and ordered a pot of hot water to make one during my meals, staff were happy to do this). Bathroom is adequate in size, shower was good, though it appeared the previous guests had flooded it as the carpet outside the bathroom was wet upon arrival, we reported this to reception and they came to look at it straight away, the hotel was fully booked so we couldn't move rooms, we weren't that bothered by that, but the maintenance team did sort the problem and deep cleaned the carpet the next day. Meals: Breakfast: good selection of cereals, fruit salad (slightly different each day), toast making facilities and juices. The Breakfast menu had more options than other hotels in the group, more fixed options like traditional full English, double full English, sausages/bacon sandwiches, etc. Evening meals were really good quality, portion sizes were generally good, starters were sometimes on the small side. This is what meals I had: Sunday: Roast Beef, apple crumble with custard Monday: Melon, Spaghetti Bolognese (special), Bakewell Tart with custard Tuesday: Welsh Rarebit, Cottage Pie, Chocolate brownie with clotted cream Wednesday: Roast Chicken with red wine & shallot gravy, served with mashed potatoes and roasted root vegetables. Jam Roly Poly Thursday: Roast Pork with stuffing, apple sauce, roast potatoes, cabbage, carrots. Apple Pie with custard. Friday: meatballs in tomato sauce, steak pie and chips with peas, bread and butter pudding with custard. Staff: can't fault them, they all worked hard and tried their best to fulfil requests. Entertainment: evening bingo with Dom (coach driver, if you're on an Alfa tour and get Dom you're in for a treat) was fantastic, the artists after the bingo were all really good. Drinks were not too expensive, decent range available. WiFi: usually at LeisurePlex hotels the WiFi is hit and miss, but it was excellent, apart from in the entertainment room where is was patchy. Pool: used it once, was planning on using it a second time but didn't have time, the pool is small, but it is heated and there are decent changing rooms with showers with shampoo/shower gel, toilet and lockers (new £1 coins). Book a time slot at reception, and they'll give you a towel to use.

Hotel Miramar is a charming Edwardian property that offers relaxed rooms and stunning sea views. The hotel's Afternoon Tea by the Sea menu features a delightful selection of dainty savories, pastries, and freshly baked scones. Guests can choose from a variety of teas or opt for a special Wimbledon Tea with Pimms or Champagne Tea by the Sea.
A huge thank you to Brian and his amazing team for such a wonderful 50th Birthday party. They all went above and beyond to make sure everyone had a great time, and it really showed. I’m so grateful for all the effort and care that went into making the evening run so smoothly. I’ve had so many lovely messages from friends and family saying how much they enjoyed themselves and how beautiful the hotel looked. Thank you again for everything, it really was a night to remember. Hope to see you again soon!

Hotel is set in a beautiful garden which is situated on a clifftop overlooking Bournemouth beach. The rooms are clean, spacious and reasonably comfortable, although the double bed is actually two beds pushed together, so I have taken a star off for that. Reception staff were friendly, welcoming and helpful. Breakfast is not included and is quite expensive at £17.50 per person. There is a good choice on the menu including Full English, smoked haddock with poached egg and kippers. On the negative side, although we were told we did not need to book, the staff seemed flustered when we arrived and there was only one table that could accommodate a group of 4 guests. We were asked repeatedly our names and which rooms we were in by 3 different staff, the service was very slow and the dining experience was not as relaxing as it could have been. The portion size was adequate. The hotel has a bar, the prices were quite high, but you could choose to sit inside or out on the pretty terrace which had a spectacular view out over the sea. There was a function on our 2nd and one of our group was subjected to a lot of noise from the disco below their room. Our Seaview room was quiet after midnight but there was quite a bit of noise from the terrace bar before that and also very early in the morning due to staff activity. On the whole we had a good stay and I would recommend the hotel.

The quality of our stay was undermined by the outdated decor, soft beds, and tired furnishings within the assigned room. This outcome was unexpected, particularly in light of the room rate and the hotel’s self-assessed star rating. In contrast, the public areas of the hotel were well-appointed and aesthetically pleasing, and the staff exhibited a commendable level of politeness and helpfulness. Additionally, the gardens, which provided a pleasant view of the sea, were well-maintained and provided a restful area for reading and conversation etc. Although breakfast was not included in the room rate, it presented a good selection of food accompanied by very good service.

We have stayed at the Miramar hotel several times before and enjoyed our experience every time. This time was no exception to that theme, but just wanted to thank the staff and hotel management for the way they sorted out an issue we had with the shower in our room. We informed reception of the issue, and were promptly moved to another room with an upgrade! This was excellent customer care and we will certainly be returning. Once again many thanks.

A big thank you to the wonderful staff who helped my father last weekend, when he unexpectedly had some poor health. They kindly organised a quiet place where he could have a rest and recover and were very supportive to make sure everything was ok. Fortunately, my father quickly felt better, assisted by the kindness and support of the staff. We will certainly be going back, knowing that we will be very well taken care of. Thanks, Simon

Had a two night break at the Hotel Mirimar where we had a delightful spotlessly clean room. The food was excellent and the staff extremely pleasant and helpful. The view from the hotel is lovely and we look forward to returning.

First let's get the Good out of the way - this should be very quick. 1. The location: good beach location, close to the Bournemouth Pier and the Museum. 2. Public areas: nice front yard and parking included. Now to the reality: 1. I should have read the review from another reviewer about the shoddy and almost pathetic state of the room we were assigned. Outdated decor, smelled like mould and was so stuffy that a staff member didn't want to spend too much time in there. Walking in immediately you're hit with a smell that was described by a staff member of the hotel itself as "old". For the price of the room, this was unacceptable. On bringing this up to the front desk we were offered a fan... And that they were full and no rooms available so come back tomorrow and we can move you before people check-in. OK, fair enough, it seemed they were trying to help. A crazy thing was even after we asked for air freshener for that night, they couldn't help us since it was locked in the room cleaning closet (thank god I didn't need extra toilet paper). Fast forward to the next day after an evening in a smelly room where we woke up to the smell - you don't get used to it. We go to the reception and are met by a new receptionist who tells us sorry we are fully booked and can't help you. And even after telling them what we were told the previous day about moving rooms before people checked in, we were told sorry but other rooms were somehow specifically requested so all they could give us was one tiny room half the size of our current room. After looking at it, there was no smell, great. But we could only get the room after it was cleaned, inspected, given the thumbs up by the crew and then the cleaning manager (ironic... where were all these checks when they OK'd our room), so earliest would be 4 hours from that time and we needed to pack up to prepare everything. We decided to just stay as this was all really frustrating, we were told one thing and it felt like we were just being fobbed off for the next person to pick up, so since it was one more evening and we were headed out to try and get the smell off of our clothes. The receptionist then called the house-keeping to tell them to "sort out the smell", which as I told him, did nothing. But at least now the cleaning cupboard was open and we got that super useful can of air freshener that fixed everything... not. Smelly room drama, and super creaky floorboards (sorry to those staying in the floor below) aside, the hotel looks nice from the back. Can't wait to be back to Bournemouth, but safe to say we won't be walking past this hotel with fond memories (except the one we had finally driving off). And to the Owner or whomever that might comment on this to say they did everything and were fully booked - no you didn't (you offered a fan and a day later an air freshener) and I'm shocked to think how an establishment like this could be fully booked if this is how you treat your guests.

"The Green House" is a unique hotel located in Bournemouth that stands out for its eco-friendly approach. The rooms are elegantly designed, some featuring claw-foot tubs, and the hotel also offers a high-end restaurant and lounge bar. Despite its traditional exterior with gables, bay windows, and palm trees in the garden, the interior has been completely renovated with sustainable principles in mind. From environmentally friendly paint to reclaimed building materials and green heating, every detail reflects their commitment to sustainability.
Stayed here for one night in a single room, though travelled as part of a larger group that booked a family room. The bed was wonderful, the room quaint and romantic and the hotel very well appointed with friendly staff and only a short walk from the beach. Sadly on the night I stayed there was a very loud event happening in a nearby hotel that rather ruined the ambience but I could see myself coming back another time with my partner for a quiet, romantic, evening.

The staff, and the food were outstanding, you could not fault atall. But the room was a disappointment, it was way to hot, it needed Aircon in there or better fans so felt very uncomfortable, plus the bed could not sleep in due to terrible pillows and mattress felt you were sliding of it. Being I had mobility issues, they had a lift but a very small lift that I asked if I could take in my mobility scooter, said it was fine, but the tightness of it and the corridors it was no good, so myself as I could not walk far had to use the stairs in the front of the hotel which was a nightmare for me to get down and up, the lift was the other side of the hotel to our room so could not make the lift walking. Overall disappointed in that side of our stay, but location staff and food was very good. But would not stay here again unfortunately due to them issues.

Close walk to town centre and beach. The hotel itself is lovely. We went to celebrate my partners birthday, I mentioned it when I booked the room. When we arrived, there was a lovely edible gift awaiting him. Nice little touch. The woman on arrival and check-out looked after us well. Nice 24-hour bar. The only issue was that the lights in the hallway were on all the time. So when it came to sleep, the light peeked through the door. I think next time it would be better if the lights were automatic.

Over the years we have been here many times as a supplier. Proving a Photo Booth to this lovely hotel is never an issue. The staff are always so friendly, the venue clean and fresh. Its a great place for a wedding or party and just a stones throw from the beach. Highly recommended.

Given The Green House announce themselves as a place very focused on sustainability, I was very disappointed to see that the food options didn't follow that criteria. There were just a few vegan options, but the majority of the items all involved animal-derived ingredients. I didn't expect them to be fully vegan, however I expected to see at least a bit more of a push to focus on vegetables given it's way more sustainable. Even the cookies in the room contained butter in it. The staff was very friendly though. I appreciate that. The room was very clean and the bed was comfortable. The shower wasn't great. The shower head kept on falling from the hook, but this was a minor issue.

Stayed here recently through Secret escapes March 2025. Double room was very clean and modern very impressed. Dinner from the Bistro menu was poor - my other half couldn’t even eat the chicken schnitzel and the pork neck was cold. Breakfast was good.

On the whole ok. But, waiting 30 mins for breakfast when the restaurant is less than half full, ine piece of toast that's lightly singed, but not toasted, 'toast', coffee that's like dishwater & brown sauce served by the waitress, by the teaspoon just shouldn't happen. Then on leaving, the cleaner telling me that I cant take the water (that was by the bed side) & it's £9 a bottle was the limit. & they have the nerve to call it 'House Water'! Be better, youre not saving money here, you're sinple telling me that I should have booked in the hotel down the road.

HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE, LOUD, AND THEY SCAM YOU. I went to this hotel to get engaged to my partner after finding a package deal online listed for a 4 course meal, champagne, and a nice room for a fixed rate. On the main website. When I tried to book this I was told that promotion didn’t exist. They tried to make up for it with a bottle of cheap Prosecco and some restaurant credit for very mediocre food and the most pathetic excuse for a cheese plate I’ve ever seen. We then went to sleep only to be woken by the housekeeping staff at 0745 am banging around our room for 30 min until I had to call the front desk and stop this. I then reported my concerns and as someone that’s not from the uk I said I wouldn’t be staying with them again and would like some compensation. I was then lied to about the process of this and fed a story about this needing to be investigated by the owner in another city. Turns out they have a manager who can make these decisions and eventually she did reach out. To offer a meager 10% on future stays. I’m not from here that’s not how you rectify a mistake after ruining someone’s sleep at your HOTEL. An establishment literally for sleeping. Go to the Marriott it’s way cheaper nicer and a higher level of service.

I enlisted the help of Sammy from Cakey Love to cater for an afternoon tea at a hen party I had organised and she did the most AMAZING job! I made quite a complicated order with several dietary requirements and she took care of everything like a pro. All of the guests loved it and everyone commented on how delicious it all was. I cannot recommend Cakey Love highly enough - Sammy is exceptionally talented at what she does. Thank you so much Sammy for making our bride's day!

We were visiting our sister in Bournemouth and fancied spoiling ourselves - a spur of the moment decision! I phoned you at 1pm and by three o’clock you had delivered the best afternoon tea we have ever had ! The sandwiches were delicious- all with a little extra something, and as for the scones and cakes- they were amazing and definitely no scrimping on the jam and double cream ! Many thanks and you will now be an integral part of our visits to Bournemouth in the future.

Nestled in an upscale riverside property, Captains Club Hotel & Spa offers chic and contemporary lodging with a restaurant, cocktail bar, and deluxe spa. Situated on Bournemouth's West Cliff, the hotel provides easy access to the sandy beach and is well-positioned for exploring the coastal resort. Guests can enjoy breakfast on the palm tree-lined garden terrace with views of Victorian villas or indulge in afternoon tea with freshly baked scones and sandwiches.
After our original accommodation was cancelled at the last minute, I was frantically trying to find accessible accommodation, during the summer holidays, and over one of the hottest weekends of the year! Julia from the Captains Club not only found us a solution, but made us feel like we were old friends coming back to our favourite spot. From the moment we booked, every single encounter with a member of the Captains Club team was warm, helpful, friendly, funny - they really went above and beyond to make our stay special. David welcomed us at reception and gave us some local tips. We were in the three bed suite which gave us so much space, and was perfect for relaxing and looking out onto the river. The room needed a few adjustments as my partner uses a wheelchair, and Hassan was quick to make everything perfect, and seemed genuinely happy to be able to make our stay even better. The bed was one of the comfiest I've slept on. The location is exceptional, the terrace is a lovely spot and we enjoyed breakfast and dinner there. The food, wine, cocktails and service were all excellent. Harry and the team provided incredible service and there was never a second where were left wanting anything. I used the spa which was lovely and use of the facilities is free for guests. There's also parking available and local shops and restaurants nearby. We absolutely loved our stay and hope to be back with more friends and family!

We were a party of 4 with our dogs, we were made to feel very welcome from the minute we arrived until we left. Rooms were very light and airy, shower brilliant and bed was extremely comfortable. Another visit to this lovely hotel overlooking the river where we enjoyed watching the rowers, paddle boarders, dragon boat and dogs enjoying a swim. Great bar with plenty of choice. Restaurant food was delicious and staff were friendly and apologetic when service was delayed. The room was clean and bright with fantastic views and house keeping were wonderful and always cheerful. We had a day in the spa and can seriously recommend the facial and Swedish massage. The pool was lovely and warm, there was a secluded and sheltered outdoor sunbathing area. Second time visiting though that I have had to highlight an item that was missed off our bill. Hope to be rewarded for my honesty when I return next time!

This is the first time we have stayed at the hotel previous years we have always stayed at The Harbour Hotel in Mudeford, never again this place is beautiful, we can’t fault one single thing. The rooms overlooks the river with floor to ceiling windows. perfect for gazing out watching the activities on the River Stout Everything is spotless, bathroom was beautiful, shower power just right. Food was excellent we had lunch on the waterfront then dinner in the main dining room. Food was delicious. Breakfast this morning was exceptional, the poached haddock with poached eggs was cooked perfectly. We will definitely be back

We have stayed in this beautiful hotel many times and enjoyed it every time, the staff are all so friendly and the location is second to none. We had a lovely suite. The only fault was the bed in the double bedroom which had a hard metal edge and we found quite difficult to manage. The beautiful shower room was very large but had no hand rails and so housekeeping very kindly came up and fixed some for us, which did the trick. We love this hotel which makes all the other’s inferior. THANK YOU

Great bar plenty of choice and enjoyable cocktails. Restaurant food was delicious, service was slow but staff were friendly and apologetic. The room was clean and bright with fantastic views and house keeping were wonderful always cheerful. Nestled along the stunning coastline of Weymouth, The Good Life Cafe Bistro is a delightful spot that promises an unforgettable dining experience. With breathtaking views of the sea, this charming cafe is celebrated for its exquisite afternoon tea featuring freshly baked scones, delicate finger sandwiches, and scrumptious homemade cakes. Visitors rave about the warm and inviting atmosphere that makes it a perfect retreat after a day at the beach.
Another awesome little cafe! Friendly service, great food, I requested something that wasn't on the menu, a tuna salad and it was delicious. I highly recommend that it is added to the menu. I'm sure it will be a great seller! Is there any reason I've given you one star less is it did take quite a while for our food to be delivered; over half an hour. We understood you were busy and normally that wouldn't be a problem but we only had 45 minutes lunch break so we were late back sadly. But this wouldn't deter me from going again and I highly recommend it!
J H — Google review
I wanted it to be great, I really did. An independent quirky cafe with a great view out to the beach and the sea. It wasn’t bad, just it wasn’t good either. The service was a bit awkward, rushed, and lacking a warm welcome. Might be being a bit harsh. Maybe. We ordered coffee and a tea. It took a while to arrive. We ordered an omelette and also poached eggs on toast. Again, took a while to come. Plus, I’d eaten half/most of mine by the time the other plate had arrived. My omelette tasted cheap and was luke warm. Looked rather sad on the plate. Not difficult dishes to make and to not have them at the same time was annoying. I got the impression of a cafe where they were struggling to make money and tired of it all. Of course, I could be very wrong. That was my impression. With so much choice of cafes in the immediate area, I’d not go back. *** Updated 26-04-25 Based on the Reply from the Cafe *** I have downgraded the stars because I believe the rating is based on the whole experience, including how a business deals with a review. Overall, I found your reply below disingenuous, possibly sarcastic, and bitter. I could have said, '...eggs were cooked to perfection with lovely runny yolks.' but they were not. The eggs did have runny yolks but that is hardly an unexpected feat of cooking. The eggs were ok. Nothing more and nothing less. After all, we are only discussing cooking poached eggs. I didn't take pictures of those, you are correct, because they were ok. Hardly, something to raise by you. By telling me that my omelette was hot doesn't make it so. It was not hot. It was lukewarm. As the customer, and as the one receiving and eating the dish, my opinion is important. It doesn't work that you tell me it was hot and it was. It was not. Fact. 'Lots of people are happy'. Yes, agreed. Plus, 11 reviews in the last 12 months are 1-star, 5 are 2-star and there are 3-star reviews also. Largely, all saying the same thing about late food, poor quality food, and poor service. Your reply is not the way to reply to poor reviews, by telling customers that they are wrong, and with an attitude that comes across so bitter. I have written over 400 reviews, and as my bio says, I use this platform to support restaurants, cafes, and businesses, particularly independents, which is why over 80% of my reviews are 5-star. I only give a poor review when it is justified. This was. Checkout my Rockfish, Oliveto, Lobster Pot, or The View reviews, and many others, from our holiday in Weymouth, as they deserved their 5-star reviews. This was my only 1-star review from reviewing +10 venues whilst we were on holiday in Weymouth. Having looked at the other cafes in the area with a similar number of reviews, I can see why every other cafe has a higher rating. Your rating is 4.4 overall, whereas all the other cafes average about 4.7. This is a clue and should be taken note of. The customers are telling you but you are not listening. We will absolutely not be returning.

This cafe is sited totally perfectly so you can see the beach and are also near to the shops and bus stops. It's beautiful and homely inside. I popped in at 4pm and ordered a latte and toasted teacakes, which were promptly bought to me at my table. Looking forward to returning on our next visit to Weymouth.

We have been going to the cafe for a number of years as we cannot fault the food, which again was lovely. The cafe itself though is in a very poor state though and is in need of some thorough work. The outside is poor and with rotten wood doesn’t aid the appearance of a welcoming cafe, inside is just as bad. There is a need for new furniture and a repaint too. It’s looking very tired which is such a shame for a cafe with excellent food.

It’s a pretty little place with traditional touches. Lots of seating both downstairs and upstairs. With big bay windows there are gorgeous views over the beach. The afternoon tea must be booked 24 hours in advance! The cream team is delicious and quite a big portion too. They have a selection of different cakes at any one time so dessert is always in the menu. Friendly staff - highly recommended.

Nestled within the enchanting Compton Acres gardens in Poole, the Compton Acres Café & Tea Rooms is a charming retreat that invites visitors to unwind amidst breathtaking scenery. This traditional tea room serves an impressive array of teas alongside homemade scones, cakes, and light bites that are sure to delight any palate. Guests rave about the delightful atmosphere and attentive service provided by the friendly staff.
I always thought of this place as mainly for coach trips and weddings... totally wrong! There's so much here! Hard to know where to start. Gardens are 10 acres separately themed. Winding paths take you through the valley, densely planted with a fantastic variety of species it's a joy. Despite being Feb there was plenty to see. The formal areas are truly stunning. Kids will love the tunnels, bridges and stepping stones. Plus there's a whole play area in the woods. Views from the top of the gardens are incredible. Interesting sculptures everywhere, great fun trying to spot them all. One visit is not enough to take it all in. They also have a huge shopping space. Local things, plants, kids toys, gifts and an Italian deli. Could have spent hours browsing. Cafe was clean with lots of lunch options. Plenty of seats inside and out. Staff were the absolute best. Kind and welcoming. Can't wait to go back in the summer!

Served by Ella today. Lovely girl. So pleasant and helpful. All the staff are great here and very attentive .Beth is a hard working manager too. Lovely home cooked cakes, scones and meals. Lovely outside space and beautiful gardens.

There was a good variety of choice, from sandwiches and snacks to full meals. Before 11 there was a breakfast menu. The full meals were about £10-15 and the choice myself and my mother made were very nice. I had a veggie quiche (best quiche I think I've ever had), that came with salad, potatoes and a generous portion of very nice coleslaw, and my Mum had egg and chips. Both were, like I said, very generous portion sizes. My sister had a sandwich that was about as well filled as I think I'd ever seen. I'm very glad we sat down and had a proper meal. I left feeling very satisfied. Good, friendly service too.

A wonderful charming and welcoming entrance to the beautiful Compton Acres Gardens. The café and tea rooms are cute, open and casual eat in bakery that serves hot and cold food. Selection of dishes are simple such as soups, fish and chips, quiche and salad and sandwiches. They have an enormous selection of cakes and drinks. They also sell made to order cakes from the selection they sell and extremely reasonable prices. We ordered a signature caramel & raspberry 9" cake for £35 with custom message on. Lovely for impromptu treat.

Family visit including kids aged 4, 10 and 12. Only visited the gardens. We all loved it! Took us about 2 to 2.5hrs, but we did stop for a packed lunch and quite a few stops for photos. Lot of shade in the gardens, which was very welcome as it was a hot sunny day. I liked that it wasn't packed full of people. There was a free find the clues type trail for kids too, where they get a little chocolate at the end - that was a nice touch. Fair price as well for tickets. Looks like visitors are probbly more from an older age category, but I think it is definitely suitable for families with kids.

Jade was very efficient, helpful and kind, she was patient with all customers ordering although it was a very busy day, in fact all staff were very efficient and friendly. There were plenty of options on the menu, can be very busy outside and in but the staff were excellent in accommodating us (5 in total) Highly recommend to all

I can fully recommend this hotel. Rooms cleaned daily if required, nothing too much trouble for any of the staff. The best nights sleep I've had in a long time, the bed is amazing, I didn't want to get out of it! Brilliant location for beach and town. Wonderful spa facilities which we used regularly. We will be returning.

We had a fantastic stay at The Connacht. The location is ideal, just a short walk to the beach and the vibrant nightlife. On-site parking was a bonus, and the spa facilities were excellent. The staff were incredibly friendly and went out of their way to make my friend’s birthday feel special. Thank you Tomas for your hospitality! The hotel itself looks stunning after the refurbishment, especially the dining area. While the rooms could use a little updating, it didn’t take away from the overall experience. We’d happily stay again next time we’re in Bournemouth. Thank you to the entire team for a memorable stay!

Before we arrived we were informed that the resteraunt would be closed Monday and Tuesday. So we booked the resteraunt for 7:15. I ordered a chicken berger. It took an hour and the waiter apologised for the delay even though they were not busy. When it arrived I found the chicken brest to be the smallest I'd very seen. Told the waiter who said he'd Inform the kitchen. The following evening we went into the town for dinner. Couldn't help but notice the resteraunt was totally empty the following evening. So it wasn't just us who were disappointed.

It's fine but a bit shabby, and the wifi was flaky. Staff were great thought! My room was pretty noisy but clean, although I wish they hadn't provided the bare minimum of towels (and no face towels at all).
Louisa E — Google review
I wouldn’t say it was worth the money. It wasn’t a warm welcome by the receptionist, our room wasn’t ready and the beds are very hard! We stayed in the tulip suite, terrible nights sleep. However it’s in a good location, walking distance to everything that’s around. Very close to the beach and about a 10 minute walk to the centre.

My daughter gave me a gift voucher for tea at the Connaught Hotel in Bournemouth. Initially I thought parking would be a problem, but noticed there was additional parking adjacent to the main building's parking area. The service was welcoming & friendly & the table was close to an exit to a pretty, sheltered patio area. Most people were on Bournemouth beach, so I enjoyed being in a cooler, relaxed environment on what would have been an uncomfortably hot day. The "tea for one" consisted of two scones of my choice, a couple of sandwich fingers & a selection of tasty savoury & sweet treats. I particularly enjoyed the small cheese scone with cream cheese & chutney & fruit scone with Rasberry jam & clotted cream! These were served warm, just the way I like them! The pot of tea, rather than coffee, was also my choice. I left the hotel carrying my little box with the few miniature cakes to take home. This gift voucher was a great idea!

Great Staff The Manager had a fantastic excellent attitude. Pool Gym Sauna. Steam Room absolutely 5 star the swimming pool is absolutely fantastic. Our two rooms were fantastic Room maids do a fantastic Job. The staff in the breakfast area were very nice especially the asian lady with the glasses. She was so polite. Reception staff on arrival and throughout the 2 night stay were excellent. The parking was great and one less stress.

Location was good. Service was mixed. Generally overpriced in our opinion. The rooms are very dated. One of our rooms had a mouldy shower curtain and the other had a sewage smell when the sink was used. Front desk seemed constantly understaffed. Buffet breakfast was £17.50 a head and anything from the kitchen was over £20 per dish. If you stay id recommend going to Olive cafe down the road for breakfast as the same food is half the price. A lager was over £7. Charged £10 a day to use the car park. On a positive note the pool area was clean and seemed relatively new. Location is very good with the sea front only a short walk away. But overall it's not worth the price and wouldn't use again.

Just a stone's throw from the picturesque Bournemouth Gardens and the expansive sandy beach, this hotel boasts an enviable location for both relaxation and adventure.
I recently stayed at The Hermitage Hotel during a work trip, and it truly felt like a holiday! My sea view room was beautiful—clean, spacious, and relaxing. The entire experience was a solid 10/10 thanks to the wonderful staff - those working on the 3rd and 4th of July. A special shout-out to Kay, who went above and beyond to help me with an item I had accidentally left behind. Her kindness and professionalism were so appreciated. Thank you all for such a wonderful and seamless stay!

The Hermitage Hotel has excellent location, 5 minutes to a lovely sandy beach. Local to centre. The staff at Hermitage very helpful and kind and nice bar. I didn't try breakfast or food at hotel. The room I had was sea view and very nice. Downside, when flushing toilet there was heck of a noise for 5 minutes and this seemed to be the same for others, then the floor in the room was very creaky. The bed was fresh, clean and comfortable and overall I will go back there as found the hotel very relaxing and clean.

Stayed at The Hermitage hotel for 7 nights a twin room with sea views. Room was lovely with great views of the sea & clean with modern bathroom. Was able to walk everywhere so fantastic location to shops & beach 🏖️. We were very disappointed with the reception staff on 22/7/25 after travelling from Birmingham with family & pet dog we expected at least friendly staff on reception, the guy never smiled & talked to us like he was just going thru the motions. Same cold reception from a girl next day also. The only staff who gave us exceptional service was the bar /restaurant staff especially Olly who not only provided great service with a smile but also made a fuss of the dog.

Only slight issue with room was the shower head didn't quite fit in it's holder. But staff were all lovely and amazing. Service was great, breakfast good too. Location is ideal, on the beach entrance and central to all places of interest. Lovely stay.

We went for Sunday lunch on a Travelzoo deal. It was nice to be in a cool place on a hot day. Service was OK but not fantastic given it wasn't very busy. The roast lunch was lovely. The starter and dessert were fine but very 'hotel' as was the ambiance. Great location near the beach but all you can see is the carpark and flyover which is a shame. Very good value though. And if you're on the manically crowded beach and fancy a haven for lunch try here!
Helen A — Google review
We went there for a family afternoon tea on a sunny Sunday afternoon, and enjoyed the lovely food and quiet atmosphere. The location is nice as well, very close to the Beach and Town Centre, yet not too crowded.
Maria K — Google review
Bed was comfortable, room was clean but a bit short on worktop space and enclosed drawers. Food was very good, service a little over stretched. Location is excellent, directly opposite the pier and bus stops in both directions. Main drawback is there is only one small lift and at the time of my stay the stairs were out of bounds due to redecoration taking place.
Brian W — Google review
So, the good part is the location. Great central and good parking. Unfortunately this is the only good part. We paid and booked a room with a sea view. Let's just say it was seawards facing. Definitely not a sea view. Its was not even a partial sea-view. In fact we could see more of the roof top and trees. The room. The shower was repaired with silver gaffer tape. Around the base of the shower door was filthy, cracked bathroom tiles, the wardrobe were battered and had had some repair wood work down both sides that was bare timber. The windows were filthy, ceiling lights bodged with filler, the TV did not work as it had an internal Ariel wire from the rear of the tv up to the top of the wardrobe. The bed, was two singles pushed together. However both mattresses were like two speed-bumps and did not have a topper over them to make a proper bed. So uncomfortable. Surely this is not the norm. We did complain about the mis selling of the sea view and they refunded the supplement. Breakfast. It was that good i gave mine to my dog and my wife decided upon toast. Probably the worst I have had in the UK. Now me and my wife were only booked in this place for one night. If it had been more I still would have checked out after one night and gone to a premier inn as even they are so much better in every way! In fact, i have been in better bed and breakfasts over the years. Not a bit better. Much better! This was sold as a four star hotel and it certainly is nothing like one. So much that I am considering a charge back on my credit card. Who ever is the managing director of this place needs to take a long look at the whole operation. It's more like a 2 star. If your MD does want to call me anytime, you have my details on record. Room 110. We will not be returning to this place.

Nestled in the heart of Christchurch, MAW is a delightful family-run establishment that radiates charm with its pretty pink exterior. This independent gem offers a fantastic brunch menu and an enticing selection of cocktails, making it perfect for any occasion. One highlight is their festive afternoon tea, aptly named The Nutcracker, which features an array of seasonal treats like dainty finger sandwiches, warm mince pies, and delectable cupcakes—ideal for those looking to indulge during the holiday season.
MAW is our go to spot when we travel down to the south coast and it’s never disappoints. The staff are amazing and they go out of their way to accommodate your needs. Our very fussy eater friend was able to have chicken tenders and chips for breakfast for example. We often travel down to visit friends and even last minute they manage to squeeze us in. I highly recommended this place and look forward to when we return! The spicy margarita and pancakes for breakfast is a must!

Lovely cafe with friendly service, I had the place all to myself at 9am in the morning so atmosphere not what it would be when busy. I had the cooked breakfast that was half price on Tuesdays and it came with a smile from the lovely waitress. All very tasty and when I asked for water for my dog the lovely lady filled a bowl for her. Well worth a visit if your in the area nearest parking ,other than the few in the high street is Saxon car park or Bank close car park, just behind the shopping centre and high street

The hotel boasts contemporary amenities for both business and leisure travelers. Guests can indulge in delectable treats at Level8ight The Sky Bar while enjoying breathtaking panoramic views of the area.
We had an absolutely wonderful stay at the Hilton Bournemouth. From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel incredibly welcome. Every team member we encountered had a genuinely positive attitude, and a special mention goes to the manager and breakfast staff who went above and beyond to be kind, attentive, and helpful. Their warmth really made a difference to our experience. The rooms were very comfortable and surprisingly quiet — a real haven for a good night’s rest. The beds were exceptional, offering one of the comfiest sleeps we’ve had in a hotel in a long time. Breakfast was another highlight. The buffet was outstanding, with a huge variety of options catering to every dietary need — vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free — you name it. Everything was fresh and well presented, making it a joy to start the day. The hotel’s location is perfect — just a short walk to both the town centre and the beach, which made exploring Bournemouth incredibly convenient. We also loved the pool area, which was clean, well maintained, and felt like a great bonus included in our stay. All in all, Hilton Bournemouth exceeded our expectations. We’ll definitely be back!

We came here in July 2025. When we first arrived the receptionist wasn't as welcoming and friendly as I thought she'd be. She was quite intimidating and she seemed uninterested in us. I work in reception and I know that you are the first person the guests see so you have to leave a good impression. We also had a confusion with reservations and we let them know we'd be checking in early and I'd pay upfront but I guess that didn't work out. I explained it to her but she kind of just didn't want to deal with us which made me feel a bit uncomfortable. I spoke to the manager and he was cool and just explained to me what was happening and I got the whole picture of what happened and offered a free drink. So we stayed outside for 2 hours until our room was ready. 😕 The room was nice, it was spacious and very well air conditioned. The bathroom was impeccable too. The cleaners know what they are doing, and I can't thank them enough for that. Breakfast was lovely too but just has some faults. Maybe if the hash browns weren't so soggy then I would've loved the breakfast. The orange juice was smooth when full but then as I went by to get more bits just started coming out the dispenser which made me feel really grossed out😕

Before arriving, I would check the reviews everyday. The inconsistency of experience was astounding! I would like to add my opinion to this mix. I am in the hospitality industry in the US. I am not easily impressed. Having said that, it would take a lot for me to leave a negative review because I understand the damage it causes. We were a party of 9 people staying 5 nights. Yes, the total was quite large BUT WELL WORTH IT! When you’re a large group you try to minimize the surprises as much as possible. The hotel is stunning. The rooms large and well appointed. The breakfast buffet GENEROUS! Finally, we know that it’s the people who make the difference. I’d like management to know that Maddie at the front desk knows the meaning of hospitality. Well done!

Very poor stay. Very basic for a Hilton. Extremely understaffed (consistently long queues at reception and amenities). Closed sky bar which removed any unique factor. No bath in standard rooms. Be wary of fine print on pool times.. staff won't let you in if you try to enter 1 hour before close. I've stayed in many Hilton's and this is by far the least impressive.

Another great stay at Hilton Bournemouth. The hotel is clean, beds are super comfortable and the views from our room were amazing. Breakfast had some great selection and the spa was lovely – our kids especially enjoyed the splash pool. Sad to see the top floor bar closed, but overall a brilliant experience as always

Excellent location near both high street and the beach. However the Hampton by Hilton next door is much better and also cheaper. For the room rate there was things missing such as dressing gowns. We used the pool but was told we could only get a robe if we booked treatments in the spa, other Hilton’s have robes in the room as standard. The gym was ok, but the pool was small and overcrowded with kids so wasn’t relaxing. Breakfast was basic for Hilton room was a good size however. Next time in Bouroill stay elsewhere I don’t think it was good value for room rated paid

Fantastic service and impressive bar knowledge! The staff were welcoming, attentive, and clearly passionate about what they do. Special mention to Theo at the bar, who went above and beyond to make the experience memorable with excellent drink recommendations and a great attitude. At this time I am still staying on the 5th floor, at 10 pm I called housekeeping to clean my room, and they confirmed, Every day is like this and this is the worst. I returned at 1 pm to my room, they had not tidied up at all and 10 times I called the housekeeping department they did not respond as well as the receptionist..my first experience after staying at several Hilton hotels in the world, and this is not appropriate to bear the big name Hilton.. Very different from the service I got in Hilton Korea, Japan, Singapore, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia,Jakarta, Dubai, New York and Dallas. Need to review the housekeeping department. I paid and the service is not appropriate. Very unfortunately. Thank you...

The Cumberland Hotel Bournemouth is a stylish art deco hotel located on East Cliff, offering free Wi-Fi and stunning views of Bournemouth Bay. The hotel provides a range of amenities for families, including seafront family rooms with comfortable bedding options. Guests can enjoy the outdoor pool and take advantage of the hotel's partnership with Front Bike Hire for a leisurely ride along the 11km promenade from Hengistbury Head to Sandbanks.
We have just returned from a lovely 5 day holiday at the Cumberland Hotel Bournemouth. The staff were all very attentive, friendly and could not do enough for you. The rooms were very clean on arrival and were cleaned every day. We were half board and the breakfast was plentiful, only negative was that there was not enough fresh fruit. The evening meal was very tasty every night and plenty of choice. There was plenty of gluten free dishes to choose from too. There was two nights with entertainment, which was very good.

From the outside, the hotel could really use a lick of paint. It didn’t look much like the pictures online, which was disappointing at first. However, once you step inside, things improve. The lobby has a modern-meets-vintage style with greys, crystals, glass, and silver accents. Quite a nice entryway overall. The dining area brings in rich reds, giving off a vintage old-century vibe. The pool itself was underwhelming, and the poolside area felt tired the chairs in particular looked dated and not very inviting. Staff were generally accommodating and somewhat helpful, though not consistently outstanding. Parking is £12 a day, and spaces aren’t always guaranteed. We were lucky to find a spot, but this could be a challenge in busier times. Despite the rough exterior and some dated touches, the room and certain modern amenities (especially the AC and bathroom) really stood out. Breakfast was decent but slightly overpriced, and parking can be tricky, but overall, I left feeling happy with my stay. The location is convenient once you figure out the best way to the beach.

I feel that there are several very unfair and untrue reviews of this hotel. We stayed for a long weekend as a family with 2 teenagers and had a brilliant hotel. Lisa on reception was so kind and welcoming. The breakfast buffet was excellent value and delicious plus the swimming pool a great bonus to lounge around for the day enjoying a cocktail or two. The food served in the bar again was excellent value and just what everyone wanted - something to suit each taste. Great service, comfortable rooms with clean and modern bathrooms plus air conditioning. I highly recommend it for the value and service it offers with excellent facilities. It’s a genuine art deco hotel as well which adds to its charm in a stunning location. - what’s not to enjoy? We will return & thank you Cumberland 🙏

This hotel has character and maintains good cleanliness standards, though it would benefit from some modernization. The property has a quaint, older charm but shows its age in several areas that affected my stay. Room Conditions: While clean, the furniture shows considerable wear and could use updating. The mattress was unfortunately too soft, creating an uncomfortable dip in the center that made for a restless night's sleep. For future guests, you may want to request a room with a firmer mattress if available. Practical Concerns: The bathroom lighting setup is problematic - the two spotlights are positioned behind where you stand at the mirror, casting your face in shadow. This makes grooming tasks like shaving or applying makeup quite difficult. Additionally, the in-room kettle was non-functional, requiring a trip to reception for a replacement before I could make morning coffee. The shower pressure was also disappointingly weak. Overall Assessment: While the hotel is adequate for basic accommodation needs, these practical issues detracted from what could otherwise be a pleasant stay. The property has potential but would greatly benefit from addressing these maintenance and design concerns. The cleanliness and character are positives, but guests should be prepared for some inconveniences.

Beautiful hotel with stunning views of the sea. We enjoyed our stay. The breakfast was delicious and plentiful. Good options for vegetarians too we enjoyed the tofu and pepper stirfry for breakfast. The service was top class, walking distance to the beach. The only thing which we didn’t like is that the room did not have a mini fridge and also a safe which would have been nice to have considering the fact that it’s a 4 star hotel. The indoor pool was cold. Warm would have been nicer.. Otherwise we were very happy with our stay and will be hopefully visiting again in the future.
Bean H — Google review
From the website photos I thought this hotel look great for a special occasion, however the reality was not. The outside exterior and pool area are in need of a refresh and deep clean. Broken wire fences, decking area needed painting. Downstairs area of hotel decorated art deco, but rooms very much a mix of colour and styles. Bedroom corridors smelt funny and again were a mix of colours and styles, they were also tatty in some places. I personally will not be using this hotel again. Five star prices, but three star facilities.

The pictures are catfish to put it bluntly. The reception looks lovely and well kept and then you go up the stairs to get to your room and the carpet and walls change drastically. The carpet was all ripped and covered with tapped down tea towel. The room had serious water damage the paint was crumbling and the metal plug socket was rusty. There was a mysterious stain on the throw pillow. We had no choice but to stay the night and just enjoy our day as much as we could. When we complained in the morning they offered us a free drink. I wanted my money back but they said they can’t. We left early to go home instead. We had a night left there.

This is the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed at, and I’ve stayed at a lot of “4*” hotels. I asked to have my 2 rooms adjoining about 14 days before we were due, but we got different floors. The sea view double with balcony was not clean to the standard I expected from 4 star and the balcony was rank. The bed was not in line with the base, the duvet cover was way bigger than the duvet and the bed protector was stained. I was charged for 2 cocktails, but they had an offer on which was buy 1, get 1 free. I was told this by another person, not the hotel. My grandkids had 2 small rubber rings in the pool for a full day, the next day, the manager said they aren’t allowed! It seems that they have no idea what the rules are here. The whole place is dated and most of the furniture has issues, with stains and chips. I also found out by other holiday makers that I overpaid by about £1000, as I booked direct with them. I would never stay here again!

Hive Beach Cafe in Burton Bradstock is a laid-back spot right on the beach, offering a range of cafe classics, local seafood, and wine. The cafe was established through friendship and family ties, creating a welcoming atmosphere for visitors. Nestled along the Jurassic Coast, it provides an unforgettable dining experience with its proximity to the sea and impressive seafood dishes.
Stopped off here for impromptu lunch today after enjoying that scenic drive with views of Chesil Beach. Friendly welcome, great service. Food good - we had a hake and chips and the salt n pepper squid. A very cold beer and a glass of lovely rose washed it all down a treat. Fantastic views and casual dining. We’ll return with friends and perhaps I’ll get lucky and be a passenger not a driver next time! I’ll be having two big glasses of that rose 😁

Came for a joint birthday dinner for my mum and husband, the wine was nice and the hive lager really tasty! We got a mix of dishes including some specials, had a slight issue with my dish but they were very receptive and polite and sorted it out right away! Brilliant service and all the dishes were delicious. Atmosphere is really nice by the sea, would be nice if the ‘window’ panels on the tent were less cloudy to be able to see the sea when the tent is down but is a small point. Quaint with simple seating but food and service are the star

Stunning views and delicious fresh food. Service was fast and friendly despite our dithering over what to have. We had the seafood platter and the kitchen were kind enough to swap out the cold Lobster and prawns to the hot version (highly recommended if you like garlic sauce). The food is also great value for money. You get a satisfying portion size. We also had a crab sandwich which came with salad and vegetable crisps which was also fresh and tasty.

Visited this Cafe today after coming a cross it whilst walking Our Dog! Was quite busy but got a table straight away, table was off to the side which suited us as Our Dog Kiwi is a little nervous. Water Bowls are dotted around the Patio just for the Dogs! We ordered a Crab Sandwich with coleslaw and a deep fried Squid in a lime sauce with side salad, both were delicious, so much Crab Meat in the Sandwich and lots of deep fried squid! I really loved my first impromptu visit here 7 years ago. We decided to re-visit for my birthday as a family meal. From what I recall at our original visit, things have changed and expanded a bit since Covid etc and it’s good to see there are takeaway options and an outside terrace option. We spent over £300 on a meal for 2 adults and 2 teenage children which included drinks and desserts. I did feel this was excessive even though we ordered some amazing seafood dishes. If I could improve the experience it would be to have more options on the dinner menu as there weren’t that many and it seemed all were very pricey. I think a lot more attention is needed to address allergies and food intolerances and staff training needs to be more robust here. I have an intolerance to some fruits due to an inflamed bladder lining so I explained to the waitress I can’t do lemon, lime, grapefruit, orange. I also said I am sick if I eat mussels but I’m good with all other seafood and all other fruit. She told me they don’t serve mussels in their dishes. Later, they double checked if the single raspberry placed in my cocktail was ok. It was. However, they didn’t pay any attention or give any warning to the large wedges of lemon served on a seafood platter we’d ordered and I was quite shocked to also find mussels among the platter. I didn’t bother saying anything at the time as I just avoided the areas near the lemon wedges and my husband ate the mussels and I chose other parts of the platter. My intolerances are not that serious and I do it to avoid pain and any sickness. However, some people have serious adversities and I was just surprised this happened. I think I expect somewhere that charges over £300 for dinner to look after me for 100% of the experience. If I had brought this up I think it might have spoiled my birthday dinner out but how would they have backtracked from doing this if I had? Overall, it was a lovely meal and we enjoyed the atmosphere and experience thoroughly.

We had a fantastic breakfast here on the last day of our trip to Dorset. Our Airbnb host had recommended and we weren’t disappointed. It was a blustery cloudy day so we sat inside, we arrived 20 mins before breakfast stopped serving but ourselves and our 2 dogs were warmly welcomed by the friendly staff. Not knowing what would be available we ordered our breakfast and it was delicious. My only complaint is the lack of an alternative to butter for my toast. I have a severe allergy to dairy but was told by the waiting staff that they have no alternative. A bit backward in this day and age. Next time I’ll bring my own!

Such a lovely lunch in the sunshine. Such lovely service! Jade (I believe to be our server) was so lovely and very good for our wine recommendation. We had a lovely lunch, the outside area was so beautiful with such lovely views and the food was delicious too. Several areas of seating with different vibes to accommodate different people. Would definitely recommend coming in for a late afternoon drink in the sunshine.

It’s a fun and lively place near the water, and the food is excellent - nice originality and variety in the menu. Service was a bit MIA on the night we visited - would be 5 if that was better. The whole waterfront area is lovely in the evening - Christchurch such a pleasant discovery.

Food was great and the service wasn't too bad either!! The only thing that drops the star is that we were told that you would be sorting out a birthdy brownie as it was my wife's 50th birthday. I believe Hannah was in contact with my brother and thats what she said would happen. We got the bill and we were charged for her birthday dessert (she opted for tbe tiramisu). That's one of the reasons we didn't pay the service charge. We shouldn't have had to remind anyone. Also, my brother was advised that there would be a birthday message on one of the boards and something on the table, but there wasnt! If you say you're going to make an occasion special, please follow through with it. Other than that, great atmosphere and great food!!

The food was delicious and freshly prepared, and I really enjoyed the flavors. However, I was disappointed with the service when it came to the bill. I ordered a small portion, but I was charged for a medium one. When I mentioned this to the staff, both waitresses insisted that this was normal and did not make any effort to correct the mistake or even apologize. Unfortunately, this left a bad impression and spoiled an otherwise nice dining experience.

Sculpture by the Lakes is a sprawling 26-acre park featuring stunning sculptures by Simon Gudgeon nestled amid beautifully landscaped gardens. This unique sculpture park and art gallery offers visitors an opportunity to escape into a magical world where nature and art merge flawlessly. Unlike traditional galleries, Sculpture by the Lakes provides an outdoor setting that allows enthusiasts to appreciate awe-inspiring works of art without feeling enclosed.
19/09/2025 - A very beautiful and peaceful place. We came from Cambridgeshire to visit during our holiday and it was truly worth it. The peace and tranquility of the gardens and grounds was astounding. The sculptures were incredibly beautiful and I loved the QR codes besides them for more information. The cafe had lovely cakes and selection of drinks, the waitresses were lovely, chatty and gave excellent service. The gift shop had some lovely local items to sell, we purchased some local cider and local handmade soap and all very reasonably priced (we are used to Cambridge prices!). My boyfriend (now fiance) proposed to me whilst we were here in the gardens and it was truly so special I'll never forget it

It’s a beautiful place to visit, especially on a summer’s day. Very peaceful and relaxed, you can take you time wandering around the lake - at least two loops to do both halves of the path and see everything. There’s also a small kitchen garden with flowers, vegetables and fruit which is pretty to see. Excellent food and drinks in the onsite cafe - would recommend the sticky ginger cake - but you can also get takeaway sandwiches from the pantry or bring in your own picnic. The tickets were a little on the expensive side at £16.50pp (if you book online there’s a £1.50 discount) but understand they are very focused on conservation and ecology, which probably comes with higher maintenance costs. All in all a nice day out.

Great place for an enjoyable stroll. Lovely lakes setting, interesting sculptures, some you can sit on. Dogs are allowed through the majority of the area. Great cafe too for lunch. Plenty of parking.

Truly amazing place. The whole experience has been well thought through and implemented. From the opening sculpture reminding how important nature is to our wellbeing to the carefully placed seating where you can sit and enjoy the calm. A number of the sculptures are interactive and I particularly enjoyed the one where you lay flat on a suspended round cushioned platform to watch the clouds drift by to the sound of water, the gentle rustling of trees and the watch the wildlife. Sculpture by the Lakes well exceeded my expectations.

I had the honour of a sound bath with Simon this week. This, paired with the serenity of the gardens, blissed me out beyond words. These gardens are an oasis of beautiful sculptures curated in harmony with nature. Everything here is considered and consciously designed with wellbeing in mind. The cafe is elevated dining, the shops and gallery are thoughtfully stocked and priced, the staff are helpful and friendly, and everything just works in a lovely way. I highly recommend a visit.

Had a amazing day here walking around their lake. Awesome sculptures set in and around their grounds. Coffee shop and restaurant food looked amazing but didn't eat there. If you're on the hunt for a vibrant spot to unwind in Bournemouth, look no further than Slug & Lettuce - The Square. This stylish bar chain boasts a contemporary atmosphere and an enticing cocktail menu that will surely impress. With its global classics menu, it's perfect for enjoying delicious meals throughout the day or indulging in their famous 2-for-1 cocktails available all day, every day!
I’ve always enjoyed Slug & Lettuce as a bar in the evenings, but after this lunch visit, I can confidently say it holds its own as a restaurant too. There’s something uniquely enjoyable about having a well-prepared meal in a stylish bar setting, and this experience proved just that. I ordered the Steak & Fries, and I was genuinely impressed. The steak itself was of good quality, with just the right amount of marbling to keep it tender and flavourful. Most importantly, it was cooked exactly to my requested doneness—a sign of both a well-trained kitchen and attentive service. The exterior was beautifully seared, creating a rich, caramelised crust, while the interior remained succulent and juicy. The fries were crisp and well-seasoned, making for a satisfying accompaniment. Beyond the food, I appreciated how the staff took care to ensure my preferences were met, which speaks volumes about the service quality. And for the standard of food offered, the prices were more than reasonable. If you’re looking for a place that delivers both a chic bar vibe and a solid dining experience, this is definitely one to consider!

I had afternoon tea here with my God daughter today. A slight technical issue with the online booking, meant they were not expecting us. However, we were welcomed with no problem. The service was fantastic with attentive staff meaning we didn't have to ask for anything, but we were also allowed to take our time and weren't rushed. The food was excellent and really fresh, which we were impressed with since they weren't expecting us! I will definitely be back and highly recommend.

We only went for a meal there. Service was brilliant from our waiter called Jesse. However, since we visited previously the menu has gotten smaller and the prices have gone up. Our food was ok but not worth the price. All of it was a little bit bland and definitely needed more salt. We wanted to use our tastecard which said 2 for 1 (even on Fridays) but the manager was very unhappy about us using it. They eventually allowed us to use it but it definitely soured the experience. The ambience wasn't the best as we were the only ones there for a while and they didn't have any music on in the background so you could just hear cutlery clinking. Such a shame as its fantastic location and lots of potential

Clavells Restaurant is a charming village eatery located in Kimmeridges, offering unfussy and delicious fare made from locally sourced meat and fish. The family-run restaurant has a welcoming atmosphere with outdoor seating, making it an ideal spot to start your day or enjoy a leisurely meal. Renowned for its superb service, the restaurant provides a great selection for vegans and even offers mouthwatering vegan and gluten-free desserts.
Wow! What a find! We stumbled across this restaurant when trying to find Tyneham village. It looked really busy from the outside, so we tried our luck to get a table. The staff were really lovely, welcoming and warm, got us a table and even produced a separate vegan menu on request! ⭐️⭐️ The starters were so appealing we shared three between us and the mains were cooked to perfection! We were full to the brim, but still managed to squeeze in a sticky toffee pudding. Overvall, very very impressed with the range of options, the quality of the food and the fantastic staff. We will definitely be back!

Fast, efficient, friendly service and very generous portions. There is plenty of seating and being exceptionally warm for the last day of April, we sat outside underneath a beautiful blossom tree. I had the daily special: turkey, brie, and cranberry sandwich on granary bread, which came with chips and cole slaw. My wife had avocado and tomato bruschetta. We both had fruit juice to drink. The bill came to £40, including a 10% service charge, which we could gave asked them to remove.

After a day of visiting The Etches Collection Museum, walking round the coast and Kimmeridge Bay, this was the perfect place to stop before heading to the car. We were greeted so warmly, all the staff are super friendly and couldn’t have done more to be welcoming and accommodating. There was a wide choice of specials available to choose from but we decided to treat ourselves to the Clavells Seafood Platter, a portion of Gourmet Chips on the side and the Dorset Breakin’ Wave Lager. The platter came with dressed crab, fresh grilled mackerel, smoked salmon, whitebait, half a pint of prawns, mixed salad, lemon mayo, sweet chilli, Marie Rose, bread and butter - the portion was really big considering the price, great value, the pile of smoked salmon was incredible, everything tasted so fresh and wonderful and the grilled mackerel was the best my husband and I have ever had! The chips were crisp and fluffy, the condiments packing a punch and the lager light and refreshing to wash it all down… the desserts sounded great but we were so full we didn’t order any, next time! We would definitely recommended this restaurant if you’re in the area, it’s a beautiful building situated in a great location. The couple of things I would mention are, the tables could be cleaned a bit more thoroughly as ours was a little sticky, serviettes are part of the cutlery packet so if you need more than 1 you would need to take it from the other packets, and that the team need to understand what draught is, when asking if they have anything on draught, you’re told no, but the Dorset Breakin’ Wave Lager, for example, IS draught (unless they pour the bottle in to a glass, which is unlikely). Very minor points to make it 5* rather than 4*.

Clarendon 2 — Google review
This is just a lovely little place. The lady who runs it says she is there and open 365 days a year, including Christmas Day, and although in the past I have thought it was closed I was apparently mistaken. Don't be deceived if the snack shack next to the car park is all boarded up, the cafe should still be open! We were made very welcome from the moment we set foot inside, despite being motorcyclists, which sometimes gets a less than joyful greeting! Though there are many outdoor benches which looked lovely in the early spring sunshine, it was March when we visited and below 10°C so although sunny, we opted for indoor seating. The breakfast menu was uncomplicated but the pot of tea that arrived was enormous and plenty strong enough, and the food was perfect, one full English thay my mate said was spot on, and Eggs Florentine for me with a lovely Hollandaise sauce and both spinach and eggs cooked to absolute perfection. We were able to defrost our arms and legs next to a lovely warm radiator and although there isn't much of a view from the inside seats the place is nicely decorated and has a warm and cosy feel. I guess in summer you'll be outside looking at the picturesque thatched cottages lining the little village main street, and fighting off the inevitable wasps! Will definitely visit here again as a regular stop off on biking trips through to West Bay or Lyme, even though it's a little off the beaten track.

The Kings Arms is an elegant riverside hotel housed in a Georgian-style building, offering modern dining and a bar. The hotel's wedding venue includes a lovely Pavilion for the ceremony and a private two-story building for the wedding breakfast and dancing. While the staff is attentive and helpful, some guests found the charges for small children at breakfast to be unreasonable.
Really impressed with this restaurant and the service we received yesterday evening! Firstly, the decor is stunning, beautifully styled and just a perfect amount of restaurant / bar combination, the seats were very comfortable and the menu choice was spot on too! I would also like to mention the staff, we had a lovely young lady who took our order but also wanted to thank Lindsey (I'm sure that was your name), who was brilliant with my dad (broken toe), very accommodating and made us feel very welcome. We shall certainly be back - highly recommend to all! Good luck with your launch in March! Kate

Room 301: When we arrived the bathroom door would not shut but the next day it was repaired. The door handle was broken luckily the receptionist had a screwdriver and my husband repaired it. The shower had no instructions and it was far too hot! Be very careful. No instructions on how to use the coffee machine - I had to Google it! No instructions for the air-conditioning. The windows do not open not even in the bathroom. The lift is tiny just enough room for two. The wardrobe is in the large shower room. The coffee machine is on the dressing table/desk and the cups, sugar etc are in the wardrobe! Why? The TV is too low to watch whilst in bed. The parking across the road is awful because the road is very busy. We parked around the back but everytime we went out or returned home we had to inform the staff to open the back gates. One evening on a Friday at 10pm I rang 5 times before anyone answered the phone. They need a different system. They did offer to move us for one night but I was far too tired. We were given a complimentary drink. The staff are lovely. It was very clean. It is in a great location. We were NOT told, when I booked the room that their restaurant was closed for evening meals because of various wedding bookings. The room is right beside the lift which is noisy. The bed/pillows were very comfortable. The one thing I have learnt from this experience is NOT to accept a complimentary drink but ask for money off the final bill.

A stylish and spacious hotel with really attentive (but not overbearing) staff (Rahul was excellent) in an excellent location. We stayed over on a Sunday night, parked at the rear of the hotel and were given a decent size classic king room on the second floor, with a bath tub and a good bed. The room was comfortable, had all the usual facilities including a coffee machine, and had fairly modern decor. The main spaces are decorated beautifully - especially the bar / dining area. The location is ideal, in the centre of Christchurch, and next to the river. We hope to stay again!

Before I say anything I highly recommend this place. Right from the get go this place looks and feels luxurious. The welcome from staff is nice and they are very polite through the stay. When checking in you are given a drinks token to enjoy at the bar for free with a good selection of drinks to choose from! The room is amazing and feels very comfortable with an incredible view of a nearby castle. In the morning the included breakfast was above and beyond what you would expect. Very impressed, will be back whenever I can!

Only popped in for coffee and cake (bargain at £5!) and was impressed. We're locals but have shunned the Kings Arms after some bad experiences when it was owned by the Harbour Hotel group. Fortunately it's now under new ownership, apparently, and much improved. Lovely decor, attentive service and delicious coffee and cakes. Well worth a visit when in Christchurch. Don't be prejudiced by any bad experience with the previous owners.

The cafe is a great place to stop by. The mini golf course (for the price) is definitely worth a round. The toilet are always clean and free to use, and there’s even a public art gallery. There is currently construction work going on at the moment which was unfortunate.

Upton Country House is a real treasure tucked away in Poole. The house itself is charming and steeped in history, but the real highlight for me is the stunning gardens and parkland. The walled gardens are beautifully maintained, full of vibrant flowers in spring and summer, and there are peaceful woodland paths and open spaces perfect for a leisurely stroll or a picnic. There’s a lovely little café on-site with good coffee and homemade cakes, plus a small plant shop and regular local events like craft fairs and garden tours. It’s also very family-friendly, with a great play area for kids and plenty of space to explore. Whether you're into history, nature, or just looking for a quiet escape, Upton Country House and its gardens are well worth a visit. One of my favourite spots in the area!

Lovely historic building (Upton House) in a beautiful setting with magnificent trees & shrubbery. Ideal place for walks and to have a picnic. Good facilities - coffee shop, refreshment kiosk & toilets. Car park is a bit expensive at £6 for 4 hours.

The Lord Bute Hotel & Restaurant offers individually designed rooms and suites in a charming boutique setting. The upscale restaurant, named after a 19th-century English Prime Minister, features modern purple and grey decor and live piano music. The menu showcases local Jurassic Coast beef, veggie tortellini, and a delightful Sunday five-course meal. Situated near Highcliffe Castle, the hotel provides an exceptional afternoon tea experience with a twist, including finger sandwiches like tarragon and white truffle chicken.
I booked an afternoon tea as a Christmas present for my Mum, my brother's fiancee and her Mum and we had the BEST time. We're not afternoon tea connoisseurs BUT I went on a lot last year as I was pregnant and that was the thing people wanted to do with me... I have to say it's the best one I've been to. The two waiters were so lovely and attentive. Nothing was too much trouble. We were offered more sandwiches several times. More scones and jams, tea, coffee so we were never sat waiting. The scones were fresh and warm when they arrived. The service and food were flawless. I would definitely recommend having afternoon tea here and we will definitely be back. We had a peek at people's food (it was lunchtime) and it all looked lovely.

Lovely 2 night stay. We mentioned about it being our anniversary trip and the staff were lovely enough to upgrade our room. The room was brilliant. Massive size and comfortable bed, good selection of teas and coffee (including coffee machine). We were shocked to find air conditioning in the room which we used full force and it made a complete difference. Bathroom was a good size. My partner said its the most powerful shower he has had in a while. Did not use the restaurant or have breakfast (which was included) but looking at the menu and what the restaurant looked like we agreed we will be back again.

A lovely hotel, right next to historic Highcliffe castle. The rooms were lovely. Clean sheets, tidy room and a lovely sized bathroom that two people could get ready in together. Really quiet and peaceful environment too. No road noise or disruption from other guests. The breakfast was really nice too, my partner and I both thoroughly enjoyed the eggs benedict, cooked to perfection. The restaurant was lovely with plenty of seating space and a nice menu on offer. Staff were helpful, friendly and unobtrusive, leaving us to get on with our stay with a minimum of fuss or bother, but were responsive to our requests, such as use of an iron, or replacement towels after ours had been used.

Booked the restaurant for 13 of us following a small family wedding. The food, service, ambience was excellent. I cannot praise this hotel highly enough. The staff were so accommodating- they really spoilt us and the food was absolutely beautiful- tasty high quality and delicious menu. We will be back! Thankyou to you all

My family and I came to stay at the Lord Bute around the 30th of June and I’ve got to say, I’m not sure it deserves five stars. It was a very plausible experience for what it was worth but, I think the food was very unpleasant. Other than that, the location was hard to find but we got our way there in time. Thank for our stay and I recommend you accommodate with the owners. They were the highlight of the stay
Carrie M — Google review
Awful, pretentious catering to an old clientele who clearly have no taste buds, service is shocking and in experienced making mistakes like mis taking the order and making a mess at the table. Would have all been acceptable had the food wasn’t bland, boring and disgusting with some dish’s. Was ment to be a treat with the family which turned out to be a memory for all the wrong reasons. I don’t know they have the audacity to charge what they are and provide food I could easily do better home, call yourself a 5 star hotel with double rosettes. I think your should get your act together or your ageing clientele won’t save this sinking ship. Won’t be coming again and will warn anyone who asks not to come also. Disgraceful

I have stayed in hundreds of different hotels from 4-5* and I have never seen anything like this before. Left my room at 8am for a meeting, when I came back at 10.30pm although the bed was made and towels changed, nothing else had been touched in the room, glassware still had the remains of dried orange juice, coffee cup still with the mornings coffee in, coffee pod still in the machine with no replacement, empty shower bottles still on the floor and no replacements. When we phone the emergency number given (as the reception closes at 5pm with no manager in charge after this) we realised Don was actually one of the owners, who was just apologetic and unable to do anything, apart from saying “do you want come back tomorrow afternoon after your meeting for a shower”, (bearing in mind we were checking out in the morning), which was incredible. So in the morning we had to shower with the small piece of soap that was in the basin and left. I do not know where the 5* came from for this hotel, no room service, no reception after 5pm, no operating safe in the room, the furniture is in a derelict state, no elevator, room rate touching the £200 per night. Believe me a boutique hotel to be avoided at any cost.

This is a 5 star hotel - if you've only ever stayed in Butlins. Tacky, low quality facilities and furnishings. Food is from 1995. Can't recommend at this price. Feel cheated.

Just popped in with my sister, she had something to eat, I just had a beer. First time i have been in this pub and got to say I'm impressed. The staff are polite and friendly. The premises are spotlessly clean, and the food excellent. The menu has a wonderful choice of various meals. I will definitely be back with friends and family. Obviously good management lovely to see compared to some pubs in Poole. Highly recommend 👌

I booked the afternoon tea for two and was blown away by the whole experience. The range of food we received was far more generous than expected. The sandwiches were fresh and flavourful – the focaccia one in particular was a standout. We were then treated to a beautifully presented selection of sweet treats, including warm scones with clotted cream and jam, Eton Mess, indulgent brownie bites and a salted caramel cheesecake bite that was absolutely divine. 🤤 What made the experience even better was being able to pair it all with a cocktail of our choice. I went for the Purple Disco Machine and would highly recommend it – fun, vibrant and delicious! A special mention must go to the wonderful staff, Rosie, Marcus and Tom, who were so warm and attentive throughout. They couldn’t do enough for us and really ensured we had a relaxing and enjoyable afternoon. Overall, a fantastic experience – I’d highly recommend this afternoon tea and can’t wait to return!

Hotel du Vin Poole is a chic hotel located in an 18th-century building in Poole Old Town. The hotel offers stylish rooms and suites, a French bistro, a cozy bar, and wine tasting experiences. Guests can enjoy convenient amenities such as complimentary Wi-Fi, wedding services, and tour/ticket assistance. The Bistro du Vin restaurant specializes in British cuisine, while the bar/lounge offers a variety of drinks.
Attended a wedding reception at the hotel. Deceptively spacious building. Looks small from the front but behind that frontage is a lovely enclosed and patio area and part-covered patio for those seeking shade or shelter from the rain. The facilities inside the hotel are great with an intimate dining area in the Port room as well as a larger dining area in the bistro. Staff are super friendly and helpful and very attentive. The food was perfectly cooked and well presented, arriving hot and fresh at the table. A great experience and I will definitely go back for an afternoon tea one day.

Very stylish and comfortable hotel. The location is ideal close to the Quay. The staff are pleasant and attentive. Outside there is a large attractive garden area with seating. Inside a comfortable bar area and lounges and an air cooled dining room where breakfast is served. The breakfast is excellent. Brilliantly cooked and with a vast choice of cereals, cakes etc. Our room was spacious, brightly decorated and spotlessly clean. I have slightly meanly taken one star off because, as with other Hotels du Vin the cold tap doesn't run cold. Not really the greatest problem but I don't like cleaning my teeth in warm water. Also like other Hotels du Vin there is no lift but the helpful receptionist took our case up to our room so no problem. All in all a very pleasant stay in a wonderful hotel.

If you are taking the Brittany Ferry, this hotel works for the location. We stayed in a deluxe room, which had everything you would need. However, the hotel is a hidden gem with an excellent front of house and restaurant team working hard to ensure you have a wonderful overnight stay. The bistro has an extensive food and wine menu and don't forget your night cap from the whisky list. Thank you so much for an excellent stay.

Absolutely Disgraceful Treatment – Avoid at All Costs I am appalled at how I was treated by this hotel. I booked a room in advance for myself (heavily pregnant) and my young child, only to receive a voicemail—not even a proper phone call—saying the hotel had double-booked and had no room for us. This message came while my phone battery was dead, so we only found out upon arrival that we had nowhere to stay. We were three hours from home, exhausted, and I was already dealing with the challenges of being heavily pregnant with a young child in tow. The hotel staff were shockingly unhelpful and rude. They offered no support, no apology, and no effort to help resolve the situation, despite the urgency and seriousness. All hotels in the area were fully booked, and the only available room we could find was over £650—which they outright refused to contribute to, even though the mistake was entirely theirs. The lack of empathy, responsibility, and basic human decency shown was disgusting. I habe no choice but to drive back three hours home, heavily pregnant, with a small child, late at night—completely stranded by their incompetence and lack of care. I would strongly warn anyone considering staying here: do not trust this hotel. If anything goes wrong, you’ll be left on your own, no matter how vulnerable or urgent your situation is. Shame on them for treating paying customers this way.

My husband and I often come to Hotel Dun Vin to have drinks in the courtyard during the summer months and love it, it’s a real hidden gem in Poole. We’ve had lunch a few times which has always been delicious and so decided to go there for dinner for our anniversary. We had the chateaubriand and Malbec deal, added the Camembert mash which was genuinely one of the best things I’ve ever eaten in my life! We had the most incredible meal, everything was cooked to perfection and the service was also absolutely fantastic. Would highly recommend and looking forward to many more visits.

Lovely hotel and nice room! Had a small panic attack when I thought there was no tea but found this hiding in the cupboard. Great location in Poole old town with a short walk to the many bars and restaurants in the area. Only gripe would be parking. Very limited parking space but that's nothing the hotel can do it's just the location. Would definitely go back!

What a lovely experience...... Clean, tidy, attentive staff and the food was fantastic..... Wasn't planning on stopping but saw the 50% off Fish and Chips on a Friday and being a true Yorkshire man thought we'd take a look..... Delicious flakey fish in a melt in your mouth crispy batter, served with crisp, fluffy chips, garden peas and the most amazing homemade tartar sauce ever....... Even though it was 50% off Friday, I would happily come back any day of the week.... Will definitely be back....

Came here for the Badness tribute band. Had drinks and dinner first. Service is great and the staff quick and friendly. Food was good... We went for 3 light Bites to share, so we could have a pudding. Chicken goujons were delicious, as we're onion rings and cheesy chips! Puddings were a let down... Ice cream was good but the pancakes were very hard, and shop bought and cold... All in all enjoyable. Great atmosphere when the band came on with lots of dancing and singing going on! The staff were excellent!

Hello to the staff of this restaurant, thank you for allowing me to have a nice meal and time. Location wise, it is situated towards the end of the classic Bournemouth pier, accompanied by the sea. Has both indoor and outdoor seating, and both have nice atmospheres. I ordered a pepperoni pizza with a side of cheesy chips. In terms of price, it was decent. The chips were amazing. Perfectly cooked, the cheese was good quality too and also perfectly melted. Pizza was huge, almost couldn't finish it. It was quite nice though. Would think about a return in the future.

We used this venue to host a function and awards ceremony at the end of the summer season and it was amazing! The staff were excellent with helping me through setting up the event and always available and happy to answer any questions. Peter was quick to confirm dates with my enquiry and Katie was a great point of contact and was there from start to finish and was lovely to work with. The staff on the night were great and always on hand for anything that I needed or easy with any updates/ changes to the running order. The venue itself was beautiful and it was played out exactly how it was described during planning meetings and the group loved the location and venue!

Stepping inside, we were welcomed by staff straight away. We had not booked anything, though there was no fuss. They calmly directed us to a free table for our family of four. As soon as we were ready to order, we used their handy table service method of placing the ordering flag on top of the waitress service pole. It brought their attention immediately. In the blink of an eye, we were greeted by a member of staff. We placed our order; two Portettis, one king prawn ciab and chips, a ploughman’s ciab, kids goujions and beans, and an adults chicken goujons and an extra side of chips. The total came to exactly £72.65. Quite pricey, although the food came fairly quick. It was just worth the price, and all was eaten! All in all, would definitely recommend if you’re looking for somewhere to eat as a family, though is a little expensive! Great experience.

Such a lovely place our server Tom was wonderful, friendly and helpful. I had the fish and chips, and it was the best I have ever had. It was a half price Friday special but I would happily pay the full price for it. The restaurant is clean and offers great views across the bay

I was originally quite apprehensive when we were asked to pay for the meal upfront. But when the food arrived I was very surprised, it looked really good and according to everyone the taste was great. I had the all day brunch while my partner had the posh fish fingers. The food is a bit overpriced but I suppose you pay slightly over the odds because of the location, key west is situated at the end of the pier. The place looks a bit run down and Definitely will sooner than later need to be redecorated. The staff did a great job, the service was spot on. Overall our time here was good.

This was my second visit. I was way across the other side of the borough but I had to suffer the heat on the buses to get to this place. It was worth the discomfort. I can say without shadow of any doubt that this was the the nicest lasagne I have had in a long while. The staff are always friendly and I'm greeted and seated right away. My food was ordered quickly with no fuss. It arrived after not too long of a wait. If you're looking for a great meal of any size I can wholeheartedly recommend this place to you.

This Cafe in the centre of Poole is probably the friendliest in town. When you walk in, you are greeted with a smile and warm hello, then shown to a table. We were there for breakfast. Cafe Aroma has a full menu with several breakfast options. I went for the "Poole" breakfast. 2 sausage, 2 bacon, hash browns, beans, fried egg and toast with jam. The staff came to our table to take our order, the food was then cooked fresh to order. My breakfast was delicious. Hard to mess up a fry up I know but there are some places that manage to. The food is always great here, but it's the friendliness of the staff that puts Cafe Aroma in front. You really feel like you've walked into a family run business. A family that care and are pleased that you are there. When you're in Poole, go there for breakfast or lunch or dinner. They're open all day from early to late.

The Old Tea House is a quaint tea shop with a garden, low beams and inglenook fire. The staff are attentive and the tea is delicious. They have many sandwiches and cakes to choose from, which makes it perfect for a group event.
What a place 👏🏻👏🏻such history attached, so many stories to share. Debbie, the owner of this establishment has put her heart & soul into the place. Her family all play a part, her grandson is the chef, her son bakes the best scones. She has a sign inside ‘enter as strangers & leave as friends’ it truly lives up to it! Such a delight, fine china used daily…I hope it remains as a tea house 🫖 for another 102 years. Highly recommend a visit & a meal….or just a cup of hot tea ☕️ best Dorset Apple cake ever & served with a dollop of clotted cream 👌🏻

Such a lovely welcome from the lady who I assume is the owner. We chose to sit in a cosy little corner stacked with pillows and blankets. The lady showed us the delicious fresh cakes, which my son and wife had. Then I chose some cream tea 😋 The tea was perfect, I managed 3 cups out of my pot. Then the fresh, warm and fluffy scone came out, with loads of cream, jam, and a side of beautiful strawberries. There is a gin bar as well, if you fancy lunchtime tipple. Overall we really loved our lunchtime stop here, just such a lovely feeling place, so warm and welcoming.

We booked a high tea for a party of 7 as it was for mothers 87th birthday surprise, she has a walker which was not a problem in the tea rooms. We booked for 7 but at the last minute one went into hospital and was taken by her daughter. We phone and it was not a problem at all to change it at the last minute. The high was more than you could ask for lots of cake, verities of sandwiches and a lovely scone with clotted cream and jam, we had 3 different pots of unlimited tea, green, earl grey and English tea. Don’t let old reviews put you off, as I did just that and was very apprehensive about going there, but the reality was very much different. Very friendly staff that didn’t hover only just asked if everything was ok and asked about more tea. All in all a very friendly staff that was above and beyond. Mum had a lovely birthday surprise, thank you all.

There is a plaque which says " come as guests leave as friends....we have definitely left as friends.

I don't like leaving anything negative but unfortunately this just was not good for me. We went for afternoon tea for my birthday but I was left disappointed. I was expecting a traditional afternoon tea. The menu mentioned an assortment of sandwiches , scones and cakes. Unfortunately not a single cake to be found, instead store bought macarons, eclair, meringue and panna cotta from Tesco! Unacceptable. In the front room they had delicious looking cakes but unfortunately we weren't offered any of them. The sandwiches were all meat, chicken and fish based. Not a single non meat or non fish option was offered. Nothing asked about dietary restrictions either, so I couldn't have any of those. When I think traditional afternoon tea, I think egg mayo, cream cheese and cucumber sandwiches, scones and cake. Service was friendly but seemed rushed.

Nestled on an 8-acre estate, Burley Manor is a former royal manor offering a luxurious countryside retreat in Dorset and the New Forest. Guests can cozy up by the log fires and enjoy sightings of local deer while savoring high-end Mediterranean dining. The grand entrance hall welcomes visitors with a warm ambiance, perfect for relaxing in the lovely lounges or conservatory dining areas.
We visited Burley Manor for Sunday lunch and absolutely loved it! The prices were really reasonable for the quality, and the atmosphere was so cosy and welcoming. There was a large wedding and a big table dining at the same time, yet Alice, who looked after us, was absolutely fabulous. She was super attentive and made sure we had everything we needed throughout. The cheese soufflé was amazing, and both roasts were delicious. I had the pork and my mum had the lamb, and we couldn’t fault either. Perfect Sunday lunch spot, thank you for having us !!

Overall we had a great stay at Burley Manor!! The location is absolutely perfect to explore the New Forest whilst being in a relaxing and peaceful environment (especially with the deer so close). We were in a garden suite which was a little smaller/more tired than the website photo, but was still very nice, and lovely to have the access straight onto the lawn/pool area. The weather was great while we were there so the pool was amazing to use with nice loungers and deckchairs too! We ate at the restaurant for dinner which was really nice, and breakfast (I would recommend trying to eat not in the conservatory because the wasps were terrible). The service was all super friendly as well!

Spent a relaxing long weekend at Burley Manor. Beautiful surroundings in the picturesque village of Burley, great location with the sounds of the New Forest all around. The period property is well maintained, my room was on the top floor with stunning views over the deer park. The food and drinks were great quality and value. Booked in for breakfast at 7.30, very quiet at that time off day with a great selection of breakfast fare. The gardens are extensive with lots of places to relax. Pool is a gorgeous spot too but didn't brave the unheated pool. The staff were very attentive and professional, made my stay very pleasant. Looking forward to returning soon.

I recently attended a wedding at Burley Manor and had a truly lovely experience. The venue is absolutely stunning—set in beautiful surroundings that create the perfect backdrop for a special day. The food was excellent, and the atmosphere throughout the event was warm and relaxed. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, especially Owen, who really stood out for his friendlies and attentiveness. Everything on the day itself ran smoothly, and you could tell a lot of care had gone into making it all feel seamless. A couple of small pointers: during the setup the day before, there didn’t seem to be any managerial presence, which didn’t feel entirely fair on the other staff left to coordinate things. Also, the bridal suite could benefit from a few more practical touches—like some proper hanging space for dresses and outfits. That said, these were minor issues in what was otherwise a beautiful and memorable event. Burley Manor is a fantastic setting for a wedding, and I’d absolutely recommend it to anyone planning a celebration in the area.

We stayed a night in October as part of a package including dinner, drink and breakfast. The staff were fantastic at every point and very accommodating. We were placed in a room on the 1st floor and it was very thoughtful to have a gift pack for our dog in the room, which shows how dog friendly the hotel is. The room was getting a little tired, with a blind that didn't go back up and some flaking paint, but much to be expected in an old hotel. Good teas and coffee were provided. The best part is of course the manicured gardens, with deer and snuffling pigs roaming the grounds. The three-course meal options for dinner were excellent, including plenty of veggie options. The warm brioche bread with garlic and onion butter was an easy 10/10, alongside the sage and butternut squash gnocchi. Sadly the starters were not very exciting and the same with the macaroni cheese. The gin and wine recommendations were spot on and we appreciated the Hotel Manager's suggestions. The night's sleep was decent, although if you are near the stairway, you do hear a fair bit of passing traffic. Despite there being a wedding party at the hotel, we couldn't hear anything. Breakfast was included and had a good selection - both hot and cold. It was great to be able to bring your dog with you (in the conservatory). Would recommend if you are in the New Forest as a couple seeking somewhere special to stay.

Lovely place to stay. Right next to a deer park, with lovely views across the countryside. Rooms are spacious, comfortable furniture and Cody bed. Staff are all friendly, courteous and helpful. Good selection of excellent food. Short walk from the Manor into Burley, where you'll find quirky shops selling witches potions and spells

As a period building it was beautiful, with grounds to match( except the outdoor pool which looked extremely neglected, even if it was towards the end of the year). My wife and I attended our nephews wedding, which in the main seemed to run smoothly to us. Sadly it felt a little understaffed, especially when there was only one young lady serving at the bar in the barn where the function was being held and many guests waiting to be served. The two rather fat rats we saw, did not set off a great impression either as they scurried around the back area searching scraps to eat, clearly hygiene and pest control could do with a review. The most unfortunate part of the whole day though was when one of the young gentlemen, who was worse for wear from his evening drinking was being asked to leave the premises by the manager due to his unacceptable behaviour. I personally felt the manager was well within his rights as the young man was presenting himself in a very aggressive manner. As a more mature member of the group and a teatotal chap my entire life, it felt very uncomfortable to be spoken to by the manager the way he did, his approach was quite standoffish and unprofessional. As I was attempting to assist him in guiding the young man away from the premises he felt it necessary to hang around very close by and pressure the situation with hurrying me along, he also felt it was important to remind me that he didn’t want the bride and grooms event to be ruined. A little thoughtless when I’d already told him the groom was my nephew. Eventually I removed myself from the problem as the young drunk was threatening me with violence and using rather unpleasant language, it was also at this point another sober guest, who was more acquainted to the young man took over. If I could offer any advise to this chap as to how he runs his hotel and interacts with guests, read the situation a little better, if someone is offering assistance in a tricky situation, take on board if they say they are stone cold sober, perhaps give your staff better training to know when to stop selling alcohol to guests who have clearly had to much instead of just hearing the pounds dropping in the till. Would I recommend Burley manor for a venue to hold an event? sadly, at this time, no. This is only based on my experience with the manager, who is fully responsible for the whole thing and the buck stops at him I’m afraid. I look forward to his feedback and apology, if he can recognise and take responsibility for his lack of skills in a matter which didn’t need to go the way it did.

Super location in beautiful grounds with deer, stars, pigs and horses all roaming around. The service was excellent, the food seriously delicious and the rooms spacious with wonderful views of the grounds. The only issue was the bathroom and showers which weren't powerful. We are used to power showers of moderate intensity and these were weak. Opted for a bath but it took ages to fill as there wasnt any power through the taps either. No bubble bath provided. The reception did offer to help with the shower but we were only staying the one night. But the two double rooms we booked both had issues with the shower being weak. That's why we haven't given 5 stars but its such a beautiful place that we will be back. Lovely touches in the room too.

Nestled in the New Forest, Chewton Glen Hotel & Spa offers elegant rooms and luxurious treehouse suites on a picturesque country estate. The hotel exudes old-school charm with its well-manicured lawns, grand piano bar, and fine-dining restaurant. Guests can enjoy amenities such as an indoor pool, tennis courts, golf course, and a cookery school.
A wonderful stay in a truly luxurious setting. The room was enormous, and well appointed, offering a lovely view over the croquet lawn. The dining was outstanding, with food that matched the high standards of the hotel. The conference facilities were excellent, making it an ideal location for both business and leisure. The grounds are beautifully maintained, and the kitchen garden is a particular highlight – both charming and inspiring. A perfect blend of comfort, class, and natural beauty.

Overall, a very enjoyable and relaxing experience. The hot stone massage was possibly the best I've had. The dry sauna and steam were excellent in terms of space and heat. The changing room facilities were nice but just expected a little more, example better quality facilities for hairstyling and better/more modern lockers, many of which didn't work or got stuck. There's also only a couple of changing cubicles and no additional area to pop bag and change (couple of padded corner spots only). The changing rooms were also incredibly warm. The variety of hydrotherapy areas was as described but would have expected the outdoor hot tub water to be a lot warmer. Lunch was nice but Breakfast was somewhat underwhelming. Staff/service was very good and the grounds are beautiful.

I stayed at Chewton Glen for one night in September and dined in the restaurant for dinner and breakfast The bedroom was quiet, comfortable and spacious. I would have liked a plug beside the bed to charge the phone (a bug bear of mine) The staff, especially reception, were friendly and welcoming The evening meal was very well cooked and tasty. The choice at breakfast was exceptional from a well stocked buffet to freshly cooked menu options It is a very good venue for a small business meeting. The meeting room facilities and catering were superb

I had a amazing experience at Chewton Glen at The Kitchen. I was lucky to have been booked in for James Martin cookery class, on the Monday, however had a amazing experience and meal at The Kitchen on the Sunday night. Tim, ,Noah, Ollie and the rest of staff .They all were welcoming and professional. The food was amazing and the cocktails were a great finish to me and my friends evening. Monday we attended James Martin cookery class and was met by Cheryl who was very welcoming and professional. The staff that were present Gerry, Polly and Helen were so helpful and helped made my experience less stressful. I came away with new skills and a memory I will never forget. Thank you to James and his amazing crew xx

Chloe Caldwell Photography - As a luxury wedding photographer I've had the pleasure of working at some of the UK's best venues, and Chewton Glen. From the moment you arrive at the hotel you will be blown away by the stunning location. The Walled Garden is a magical ceremony setting, and the most incredible setting for wedding photos. The hotel itself is modern, elegant and stylish, and the team are second to none - you will be so well looked after. I couldn't recommend Chewton Glen more if you're looking for a luxury wedding venue that will blow your guests away and give you the most incredible day to cherish forever. I can't wait to return very soon. - Chloe Caldwell Photography

Lovely stay at Chewton Glen. Room was exceptional with plenty of space. Could have stayed longer. My only observation was the price of 2 gins. We were charged £48. We retrospectively were advised this was due to it being house gin made on site. Regardless, you'd have expected the recommendation from the bar staff to have come with a health warning on the price. Apart from that the stay was good.

A most wonderful afternoon tea. Chewton Glen is a special place. Beautiful setting, welcoming and warm service, and the food was perfect. A real treat. The tea at Chewton Glen is far better than the 5 star London hotels at a much lower price.

The Durley Dean Hotel, housed in a charming Victorian townhouse, provides a tranquil retreat with its modern rooms, restaurant/bar, and chic spa featuring an indoor pool. After a day of exploring Bournemouth, guests can relax in the heated pool and sauna or indulge in rejuvenating spa treatments such as massages with essential oils and revitalizing facials. The hotel also offers a traditional afternoon tea experience with an array of sandwiches, scones, and sweet treats served amidst old-world glamour.
Lovely hotel. The staff are lovely, very friendly, welcoming and helpful. The facilities are great, used the pool, sauna and gym. The bar is nice. Breakfast was perfect, continental and full English, buffet style. Our room was lovely and perfect size, shower nice and big. Short walk into town in the evening or to the beach. Really nice way to spend our anniversary, thank you so much ❤️

DIRTY, DIRTY, DIRTY! AVOID AT ALL COSTS!! The photos speak for themselves. THE most disgusting hotel I have ever stayed in. Due to the filthy, musty, dusty, grotty and mouldy state of my room for night one of my two night stay, it was necessary to complain. I first spoke with Holly on reception who barely made eye contact when advising they "don't do refunds". I was offered to be moved to another room when I explained how dirty my room was and wanted to check out and go elsewhere. I guess they are not familiar with the consumer rights act, then?! Then Patricia, the trainee Deputy Manager, seemed very apologetic and offered me a new room. Patricia assured me my new room would be personally inspected by her. If it was then her standards are incredibly low. The second room was no better but had an overpowering smell of bleach. The carpet hadn't been vacuumed (see photos), there were stains on the cushions (same as the guest room, see photos), there was a long dark hair in the bath (see photo), the air conditioning remote holder had clearly never been cleaned (see photo), and there was mould and serious lack of cleaning of the bathroom sinks (see photos). The list goes on. I felt itchy just being in the hotel! And the floor boards everywhere are ridiculously noisy so no one gets any decent sleep. Confirming that the hotel is "old and tired" does not excuse adequate standards of cleanliness! Their car park policy is also a huge rip off. £15 for no guaranteed space so tough luck if you leave, come back and your paid space is gone!! Having signs up detailing this is acceptable to them, apparently. How and why they class themselves as being a 4 star hotel, just for having a swimming pool (which I was scared to use considering the poor hygiene standards in the rest of the hotel) and a sauna that was out of service, is delusional! There are so many hotels in the area so check their reviews and scores and DO NOT stay at the Durley Dean!!

Service was good, hotel is just average. We were booking with a voucher we were given which might explain why we put at the very back of the hotel but it was mostly clean and was quiet so not really complaining. Very close to the beach and not far from food options and town centre so location wise you can't fault it.

Last minute booking. Under £100 for the night, for two, including breakfast. Very central to local restaurants. The beach is very close. The room was clean, very comfortable, and quiet. It has a pool/sauna etc, we didn't use, but included in the price. The only downside we could find was, the in-room kettle was full sized so filling from the sink was impossible. It's the first time I've filled a kettle from a shower

The only good thing about this hotel is the location. Reception looked lovely, the rest of the hotel was dirty and unkempt. The room was dusty and had the previous guests pubic hair left in and around the shower. The staff at reception were miserable, not one smile was given by them. Fair to say we only stayed the one night of the two we paid for. Not the 4 star experience we expected

I am absolutely shocked and disgusted by our stay at the Durley Dean. After a long day of traveling with our 8-month-old baby, we arrived exhausted but hopeful for a smooth check-in. Instead, we were met by the most unfriendly receptionist I have ever encountered. Lea, at the front desk, did not manage a single smile or welcoming word. She could not explain why I had to make three separate payments (for the room, for my dog, and for the car), and she even confirmed the wrong number of nights. Not once did she say anything along the lines of “enjoy your stay.” I honestly felt a robot could have done a better job. Unfortunately, this was only the beginning. When we got to our room and moved the nightstand slightly (to secure the baby bed barrier we brought ourselves), we were horrified to find what looked like half a plate of leftover chips from a previous guest. On top of that, under and around the bed we discovered a rubber band and a large dog treat — both of which could have been a serious choking hazard for our crawling baby. I was shaken just thinking about what could have happened if my child had found them first. When I called reception to report this, the same unfriendly Lea answered. She didn’t apologize, didn’t express any concern, and simply said “it’s okay.” Her complete lack of care made me furious. I asked for a manager, and thankfully Chelsea came to our room. She apologized, acknowledged the issue, and offered either housekeeping or a room move. Since it was already late and our baby needed sleep, we chose to move. The second room was very dark and, shockingly, still had rubbish (a piece of plastic wrap) under the bed. At least it didn’t have choking hazards this time, but still far from clean. As if all of this wasn’t enough, when checking my booking confirmation later, I discovered they charged us an extra £10 per night for our baby. No crib, no cot, no service of any kind was provided to justify this charge. Having worked in 5-star hotels around the world, I have never come across such an outrageous and unjustified policy. Between the unfriendly and unprofessional staff, the appallingly dirty room, the potential danger to my baby, and the sneaky extra charges, this hotel is an absolute disgrace. We will never return, and I strongly warn others against staying here. Durley Dean should be ashamed.

I must say what an awful hotel along with awful people who work behind the scenes for this hotel. As you can see from the picture I had a glass BAKED in my scone to which the people at front desk and bar were mortified, however the kitchen said it was ‘abit of cling film’ which it wasn’t. Was hard and solid. The director has stated he is not doing anything about this. He gave me limitations and offered a 25 minute spa treatment to ‘get rid’ of me complaining. Due to the responses of this hotel they do not care for the health and wellbeing of their customer which speaks thousands and we are worth more. There’s many more cheap hotels in the area with so much better service. If it weren’t for me not liking raisins and picking them out my scones who knows where I’d be 😭

This hotel was not great I’m afraid… Firstly, when we checked in with the night staff and paid for the stay. The next day we were out. I got a call from the hotel that I had an outstanding room charge. I said I already paid which they checked and said it was a mistake on their end. Well, they did not hesitate to cancel my room card before confirming with the guest! - The room was way too small, as well as the bathrooms. Even though they offer different room types. We have a normal double room and the size of the room and bathroom is not acceptable. - The room quality is not great; walls need fresh paint, the carpet is so outdated and old, the doors are dirty and cheap and to get in the room they card system is very outdated and it makes it hard to get in the room when swiping the card. - The bathroom fan was not working and it was extremely small. It felt very suffocating. - Their indoor pool did not look clean. Also, it looks good on the pictures on the website. But it is very misleading. The indoor pool is so small! There was barely any ventilation and the lighting was not great. This made it difficult for guests to relax in the pool because it was full of children playing and shouting. While I don’t mind children in the pool playing. The indoor pool was just not big enough for both parties to enjoy the pool and there is not pool specifically for children as guests had to specifically sign a document to make sure they are being supervised. - Parking is non existent and you have to pay £15 a day even though you are already paying to stay in the hotel with them! What we paid for the entire stay was so expensive for what we got. It’s just not worth the money. It’s sad to say but, for what I paid for just the weekend. I could have booked a week in a hotel with flights in Europe…. This hotel needs a lot of improvements!

Situated on the water's edge, it provides a perfect retreat for those looking to experience Dorset's stunning estuaries and coastline. Guests can indulge in luxury spa treatments at the HarSPA, which includes an indoor pool, sauna, steam room, hydrotherapy pool, and four treatment rooms staffed by professional therapists.
Had dinner here last night. The concierge was incredibly helpful and they will look after your car if it’s busy. The setting is beautiful and the food was excellent. Especially the tempura prawns and Thai mussels. My son loved the three tier hamburger. We were very well looked after and the service by Rod and Sergei particularly was excellent. Thankyou!

We just checked out from this hotel and overall, it was a lovely stay! Me and family had a deluxe sea view rooms, very nice, nice view of the harbour, comfortable bed and an amazing bathroom but the hotel has some issues: parking can be a problem if there is a wedding or an event so everyone has to double park but the staff will valet the vehicles around, if needed. The spa was lovely, the pool isn’t big but it’s nice to swim in. There is a nice relaxation area with outdoor sitting, when the sun is out. Our treatments were amazing! Look out for the offers for that day. Worth it! Our dinner in the upper deck was amazing! Great food and great service. The location was perfect, close to the water, ferry and town. Issues- the room rate doesn’t include a cooked breakfast, it’s Continental only! The cooked breakfast is an extra £10! Which we think it’s so unfair as we paid a lot to stay in the hotel. The beds are very comfortable but it seems everyone slams their doors and the floors are really creaky so you can hear everything, banging doors and people walking. It woke me up every early morning! The biggest let down was the hotel charges for 12pm check out -£35! We’ve stayed at many hotels and never been charged for an extra hour! Thanks for lovely stay but needs some improvements.

Attended for a wedding. Amazing setting. Amazing views of the water. Service; on the slow side of things. Plus inefficient waitering, where finished plates and empty glasses are not frequently collected from tables. We ended up having to walk our plates to the staff, as we needed space. Room was fine. Clean, tidy and very comfortable bed.

Great location, pleasant team, noisy room! Our room was directly above the kitchen and there was the sound of a tube train arriving from 7am in the morning and late into the evening. Enjoyed our stay but not this noise. With a notice at booking we would have chosen a more expensive room option. Transparency please Harbour.

We had a lovely one-night stay in a double inland room with a terrace. The room was well-appointed, with an incredibly comfortable bed. All the staff we interacted with were friendly and helpful. The only letdown was breakfast. The continental selection was quite limited, and the layout didn’t work well - pastries were placed right next to the juice jugs, so you had to queue behind people getting drinks just to grab something simple. Service was also quite slow. We waited a considerable amount of time for our coffees and the cooked dishes from the menu. That said, when they did arrive, the eggs Benedict and eggs Royale were cooked perfectly. Charging an additional £10 per person for a cooked option felt a bit much, especially considering our room rate was already over £300 for the night. Overall, we had a nice stay, but a few small improvements, particularly around breakfast, would really enhance the experience.

Celebrated our 25th anniversary here...hotel spoilt us with chocolates and a card ..also complimentary gin in the room! Location is unbelievable...spa was fantastic and the relaxation area looking out to the harbour was divine....Food was excellent with fabulous service in both The Jetty and The Upper Deck ...Was pricey but worth every penny! A few bits and pieces were a bit tired (tables with corners missing, wallpaper scratched in places) however the service and friendliness of staff alongside a relaxed atmosphere and views 'to die for' made it all worthwhile! We will definitely be back and will try other hotels in the group. My happy place has always been Mudeford and Hengistbury head....now I am adding this hotel to the local collection!

Lovely location and ambiance in the hotel. Room very nice with comfy bed, although ours was so hot we didn’t sleep well at all despite having the window open and fan on permanently. The spa is nice but a bit tired (less impressive compared to the Richmond Harbour Hotel spa) in need of some repairs, with tiles missing from the steam room, a small jacuzzi and paint coming off the sealing. The spa staff were lovely, but I did feed back the treatment room I was in was noisy with a broken air vent and people walking above, not very relaxing. Sadly they didn’t seem that bothered. The Jetty restaurant is outstanding, delicious food and excellent service. The big let down is the breakfast, such a poor offering, limited choice just laid out on a bar top and despite paying £500 for the weekend you have to pay extra if you want a cooked breakfast! In summary, lovely location but not worth the money, overpriced for what you get. Would stay elsewhere and just go to use the Jetty restaurant.

The Bournemouth Carlton Hotel is a luxurious cliff-top property offering traditional-style rooms with free WiFi, an indoor pool, and splendid coastal views. Guests can enjoy the hotel's cocktail bar and restaurant serving English and International Cuisine. The hotel also features indoor and outdoor swimming pools, sauna, steam room, solarium, jacuzzi, gym, hairdressers, beauty salon.
We stayed for two nights during a heatwave weekend. Thankfully, a fan was already provided in the room. The staff were friendly and welcoming. While the hotel overall is quite dated and would benefit from significant upgrades, the room itself was spacious. However, the bedroom door didn’t close properly and the furniture was old. That said, for the price per night, it was reasonably acceptable and met basic expectations. The main issue was the outdoor pool, which appeared to lack regular maintenance and cleaning — we ultimately chose not to use it. On a more positive note, breakfast was lovely and delicious, and the location is excellent. With some investment and care, this place has real potential to become something truly special.

This hotel is extremely dated. Although the staff are fabulous and parking was good. Unfortunately the spa facilities are non existent which made it very disappointing. when on the website and photos shows a lovely indoor pool which in reality it is so different from the pictures 😔 the paint is pealing off the walls and mold decaying in every corner. The jacuzzi is covered with plastic and tape and is not to ever be used again. So I can say this is not a spa hotel. But the rooms are very large and the views are beautiful.

Lovely pools, especially the outside pool. Rooms are comfy, if dated. We are used to staying in Apex hotels, which are new, modern and spotless. These rooms are pretty dated by comparison. Serive is good though, they have improved since we last stayed here a few years ago. Location of the hotel is perfect though.

While the Bournemouth Carlton benefits from a great location and our room was a decent size, the positives ended there. The gym and sauna area were clean and maintained, and one friendly staff member made a good impression but unfortunately, that was the exception. From the outset, accessibility was a major issue. The hotel is not suitable for parents with prams or guests with mobility challenges, and no support was offered to make our stay easier. There was no offer of assistance, alternative arrangements, or even basic consideration. We were placed in a room right next to a nesting site for seagulls, with full-sized chicks squawking from the early hours of the morning. When we raised this with reception, we were told we’d “complained too late” despite it being a clear and ongoing issue. Staff claimed they were unaware of it, but the noise was constant and impossible to miss. The rooms themselves lack some basic amenities, no fridge, poor attention to cleanliness (dust visibly gathered above the shower head), and the floorboards creak so loudly they could easily wake a sleeping baby, which they did. Service was also disappointing. Most of the staff seemed disinterested or untrained. One elderly woman working the bar was particularly rude and dismissive, clearly lacking the people skills needed for a customer-facing role. Overall, our experience was far below expectations. Beyond the location and one or two decent facilities, this hotel falls short on too many fronts: accessibility, cleanliness, hospitality, and basic comfort. Rating: 1 out of 5 Would not recommend.

No AC in rooms, just a fan so the room was hot that day. Opened up all the windows as much as possible and we could find ourselves sleeping very well in that room. Breakfast was normal British breakfast and for deserts fresh fruit salad and mini pastries (they were the best). Beach it just few minutes walk down the hill. Over all, nice one night place to stay 😊

I visited with my two toddlers and my husband. We had to wait from 12:30pm to 4pm just to get access to our room. My kids were tired and annoyed. The hotel has a great view and that’s it. I used the ladies toilet and it needed a renovation. The room is barely basic compared to the price it’s technically a loss. There’s no fridge in the room so I had to pay £15 for one! I wouldn’t recommend for travelling with kids.

We enjoyed a lovely afternoon tea at the Hilton's Sky Bar. The food was excellent and the staff very efficient indeed. The views across Bournemouth were also great. However, we were a little underwhelmed by the Sky Bar itself. We were expecting something a bit more luxurious and we felt the decor was rather plain and uninspiring. Nevertheless, we enjoyed our visit.

Excellent top tier looking sky bar in Bournemouth. It is located on floor 8 in the hilton hotel. Staff was ultra friendly and they suggested nice drinks. I reslly enjoyed the taste of their spirits snd the quality of the ingredients they use. To be honest the way how they make drinks remind me of a begginner version of the alchemist in terms of being showy but in terms of mixing stuff and achieving great flavours, they are one of the bests. Apart from the mentioned above, the views from Level8 are amazing. You can pretty much see the whole town centee without much effort, being there makes you feel at peace as well. They have quite a big drinks menu so you can always try something new and enjoy a new flavour, they also offer a few dishes to nibble on and they are very elegant and classy up there.

A nice bar to come a drink and relax. Good choice cocktail and spirits available. Prices are reasonable but of course depends what you drink. Service was good and friendly staff made the end of evening nice and the view was great too. Sunsets are great too!

I went there with a friend Saturday evening for a drink. The place looks nice but the staff were not organised at all. There was live music, a pianist, when we arrived at 8pm, which was lovely. They had a band from 9pm and that was nice as well but the it was just way too loud for such a small space. We couldnt hear each other at all thats why we left early. Also Im really disappointed as we had cocktails, the first time they charged us £27 for 2 cocktails the second time they charged us £30.38 for the same 2 cocktails. Im really disappointed of the fact that the waiter over charged us. I will make an official complaint as this should not happen. It seems once you have a drink they think they can overcharge you.

Had an afternoon tea in the Hilton sky bar. First impression was good was a little annoyed they had given away out table as was running 5 mins late, but they placed us by the window on a bar table and that's was okay. The waiters appeared to be attentive initially but I did have to prompt them several time for our tea and are last pot just nether even got served to the table. The afternoon tea itself was okay they had changed the menus that week so was surprised when they brought out a very different selection to what was on the menus on line, which resulted in half our sandwiches not being eaten, if we had know there was horseradish and beef we would have asked for an alternative instead. The puddings and scones where exceptional and the scones where even warm! Overall a very enjoyable experience would consider going again but for £22 a head plus a service charge they snuck on the bill It is very expensive for what you get and the view isn't that great.
