Nestled in the picturesque Northamptonshire countryside, Rushton Hall Hotel and Spa is a stunning Grade I listed country mansion that dates back to the 16th century. Set within 25 acres of beautifully manicured grounds, this luxurious retreat offers individually styled rooms that promise comfort and elegance. Guests can indulge in a rejuvenating experience at the spa, complete with an indoor pool, sauna, and gym facilities.
Lovely staff, Dave the porter and Margaret in the spa Cafe, were very helpful, friendly and cheerful. The house and grounds are perfect to relax in and stroll around. The spa facilities were nice and quiet Monday to Wednesday and started to get a bit busier later in the week. The bed in the dovecote was huge and very comfortable. Parking was easy. Nice to see the pheasants and squirrels in the grounds. The great hall good to relax in with a tipple. We didn't eat in the main dining area as the menus did not appear to be flexible enough for multiple food allergies. We would definitely recommend staying here and will do again.

I had my first visit and the staff were so wonderful & informative. Make sure you book a table at their restaurants! The food is divine. I appreciated the attention to detail this hotel focuses on. From the pristine gardens to the awe-inspiring ceilings found in every social room. The spa facilities are impeccable & it was really easy for us to do a mini thermal cycle between the sauna & the pool. I will definitely be returning to Rushton Hall!

Every once in a while I go to Rushton Hall for a relaxing spa day. It really is a stunningly beautiful place. Most recently we also had afternoon tea there after our treatments. This was in the great hall, which we hadn’t been in before. All I can say is wow! Impeccable service and extremely yummy food.
Corinna V — Google review
My daughter and I came here for afternoon tea and what a setting. The hall is truly well looked after both inside and out. Inside, the rooms are beautiful and very comfortable. The afternoon tea was delicious and was very relaxing and the rooms layout was such that we weren't all sat close to other groups. It was also lovely and warm, unlike other older buildings which tend to be cold. The outside is beautifully maintained. The gardens well kept and plenty of pheasant roaming the grounds. A very enjoyable relaxing experience.

Had afternoon tea. It was wonderful. The staff were welcoming, polite and super efficient. The sandwiches were delicious. So fresh and tasty. The scones were still warm and again, delicious. Couldn't manage the beautiful little tartlets, so we took them home. The building and surroundings are stunning. Well worth a visit. Thank you for having us Rushton Hall

One of my most favourite hotels in the whole of England! We make a pilgrimage to this hotel every year due to the most peaceful experience. One year we did the 3 days Christmas stay too! It’s just a beautiful 15th century oak panel building. The great dinning hall is out of this world, as is the service. If you want to feel like a king or queen head here! A fabulous weekend away, beautiful grounds to walk in. Can’t recommend enough.

This was our second visit here, and after a hectic few months we had really been looking forward to returning. Unfortunately, our experience this time was worlds apart from our first. On our previous visit, we were warmly welcomed by a friendly gentleman who showed us to the main desk. This time, however, there was no one to greet us. When we approached the reception desk, three staff members briefly looked up at us before looking away, offering no greeting or friendliness. When we finally spoke up, a young lady abruptly asked, “Yes?” and the first words out of her mouth were, “We need your credit card.” Not exactly the welcome we had been hoping for. The room we were given was on the first floor, seemingly next to a storage area. There were several mattresses stacked against the wall near our door, along with other items scattered about. For the next hour, we had to listen to staff shouting back and forth, hardly the peaceful start we had imagined. The room itself was disappointing — the carpet was dirty with mud, dead flies, and other debris. When I pointed this out to the staff member showing us the room, they ignored the comment and left. Other issues included holes around plug sockets, a damaged bedside table, taps that were not securely attached to the bath, and a dirty bathtub. The room was also set up with two beds instead of the king-size bed that was advertised. When we raised this, we were told we were mistaken — until we showed them the listing on their own website. The response we received was little more than a dismissive stare. Later, when we discovered our robes were missing, I called reception and was initially told multiple times that they were in the room. Only after some back and forth did they admit they weren’t, and eventually sent some up. To her credit, the young lady who delivered them was polite and apologetic, which we appreciated. We did enjoy some relaxation time in the spa, but unfortunately the noise issues returned once we got back to our room. Outside our window seemed to be a staff area or kitchen, with constant loud conversations and phone calls, as well as a floodlight shining into the room. Closing the window did little to block the disturbance. To make matters worse, there was banging and what sounded like a generator running through the night, and our TV randomly switched on every couple of hours, disturbing our sleep further. Compared to our last visit, this was a completely different experience — a massive disappointment. We raised these issues during our stay and followed up in writing before we left, requesting a manager call us. A week later, we have still not heard anything. This hotel has amazing potential — on our first visit we were genuinely impressed and recommended it to friends. Sadly, after this visit, we could not recommend it again. Very disappointed.

Nestled in the heart of the Midlands, Whittlebury Park is a refined destination that offers an array of experiences. The property features a top-notch golf course, a well-equipped fitness center, and a luxurious spa for ultimate relaxation. Indulge in their delightful afternoon tea experience which includes traditional elements with unique twists like chocolate coffee mousses and lemon meringue macarons.
Our spa day was lovely. The facilities were very good. We found the hydrotherapy pool noise overwhelming after a while so enjoyed having the pool area to relax in. All the food was great quality and well presented. Service was excellent, our server Amy was professional but friendly and very efficient. No complaints at all.

I enjoyed a bargain spa day last minute, 8th October. The facial with Marika was excellent, the lunch wonderful, facilities excellent (gym pool, sauna, jacuzzi) and staff very courteous. I did find the music from the aerobic class in the pool so loud I had to leave the pool area. Otherwise the whole day was relaxing and rejuvenating.
Elizabeth D — Google review
Simply fantastic. Visited for a spa day with massage included. From the booking process right through to the day itself I was very impressed. The estate is grand, the spa is well equipped with multiple experience rooms and the leisure club is kitted out with a decent size pool, lounge areas and a high-end gym. It was clean, the staff were incredibly helpful with a friendly attitude and the food on offer was delicious. I'll definitely be returning. Great value and a great day

We were celebrating my husbands birthday on the Sunday 12th October, we had a lovely time relaxing in the spa, and also trying out the Sauna and the Ice Cave. The lunch was lovely, it was buffet and it was hot/cold one, they cater for everyone needs. Will definitely be coming back to enjoy the spa and the treatments we both received.
Oenone N — Google review
I went with 3 girlfriends for a spa stay and the facilities were second to none. Everything ran smoothly, everything was clean and the food within our package was good. My only gripe really is the room was a little dated and could have done with a bit of TLC but was very spacious with everything you would need. We did find there was a lot of noise but unfortunately other residents were just inconsiderate and you cannot blame the hotel for this. The team in the spa were so welcoming and the treatments were amazing. Keep up the good work
Sue — Google review
Myself and my partner booked a spa break package direct for the 5th October- this included carvery lunch, breakfast, a peace and glow treatment and an overnight stay. We had a lovely relaxing weekend, food and drinks were great. My treatment was great but my partner said that has was a bit underwhelming and wasn’t as described. The room was spacious, clean and mostly comfy- only one slight complaint that the duvet seemed to be zipped together straight down the middle- my partner actually scratched his arm on this! All the staff were friendly and welcoming- overall a lovely relaxing weekend

Took a spa day here. Facilities are good with a range of sauna rooms such as steam, sauna, ice and so on. Nice decor and smart facilities. Massage was great and lunch really high standard buffet style. Would recommend. Only downsides were large jacuzzi not working and foot spa not working. Busy so you have to wait to find spaces in rooms, tubs and beds etc.
Tristan D — Google review
Booked a spa day which included lunch and a treatment. Spa itself is lovely with lots of ‘experiences’, but some areas need a little tlc (especially the changing room toilet area.) You have access to the large swimming pool area through the cafe too. Spa area doesn’t really have anywhere to sit and relax, and very limited pegs outside of the experiences to hang towels/robes and put flip flops. There are benches around spa pool but notices to say do not leave towels. Same issue around the main pool, far amount of loungers to relax on, but most adorned with towels/robes as nowhere really to hang them. Buffet lunch was lovely (hot and cold), but we were informed we only had 45 mins, that felt very rushed. Generally, staff were ‘adequate’, but really didn’t offer a welcoming service. On check in at spa, we were told what sounded like the usual patter, we weren’t offered herbal tea or to be shown around, despite being asked if this our first visit, and mentioned in the literature. We did end up asking later for a drink which was served. Same really in the cafe, checked us in and shown to table, had to guess for ourselves that it was a buffet, never asked for a drinks order despite sitting wasting 10 of our strict 45 mins! In end had to get up and ask staff if we could have our glass of Prosecco that was included in the package. Got one glass of water, but jug not left and never asked if we needed anymore. Went upstairs to the treatment area as instructed st our allotted time, to find that we could have had a free product demonstration and that there were quiet areas to sit too!! At £200 per person, it was a lovely day, spoilt really by the lack of customer service that so would have expected from Whittlebury Hall.

The hotel is known for its delightful traditional Afternoon Tea served in a beautiful dining room. Guests can also enjoy locally sourced ingredients at the candlelit restaurant or dine al fresco in the restyled outdoor space overlooking gardens. Having read all the reviews we were not disappointed. We stayed over a weekend in June for a birthday treat. We were greeted by the friendly receptionist & allocated a well appointed room. We paid extra for early check in so we could enjoy some peaceful time using the spa facilities. Later we enjoyed a relaxing drink in the bar before dinner, which offered a wide food choice from again friendly staff. Overall we were very happy with our stay & will return again. Would recommend.

Kettering Park Hotel offers a beautifully classic British style — the decoration is elegant without being over the top, and it creates a very cosy and inviting atmosphere from the moment you walk in. The staff were genuinely friendly and helpful, always ready to assist and making us feel well looked after during our stay. The restaurant inside the hotel was another highlight. The menu had a good variety, the food was delicious, and the service was efficient yet warm. It’s definitely worth dining in rather than looking elsewhere. Overall, this is a lovely place for a short getaway. While I wouldn’t necessarily stay for a long holiday, it’s perfect for a one-night stay or a weekend stopover — comfortable, welcoming, and with that timeless British charm.

As we were travelling to Norfolk we used the Kettering park Hotel as a half way stop over and stay two nights a week apart. Upon arrival we received a very warm friendly and professional service(apologies I don't know the lady who checked us in but she provided excellent service). The hotel was perfect for our one night stay, Spa was excellent to relax before dinner. The hotel ordered flowers for the room, as it was our anniversary. Excellent quality and well presented with a card from me and the hotel. The restaurant was excellent, Teresa was an excellent host, friendly and professional. We were served by Eloise, great friendly service. Eloise remembered us from the previous week stay, very polite, friendly and professional service. Overall my wife and I had a very good stay at the hotel, all staff were excellent. Highly recommend the hotel.

A Great Stopover on the Way to London My partner and I stayed here on a journey from Leeds to London and were very impressed with our experience. We booked the dine and breakfast deal and opted for a suite, which gave us a wonderfully spacious bed, and we appreciated the choice of pillows. While the decor felt a bit dated, everything was incredibly clean and well-maintained, which is the most important thing. The dinner deal gave us a generous £35 per person allowance, which was more than enough for a lovely evening meal. The spa was a real highlight. The pool, steam room, and sauna were all excellent, and it was a pleasure to relax there. The drinks were also a nice bonus. Although there isn't much to do in the immediate area, the hotel itself provided everything we needed for a comfortable and enjoyable stopover. We would definitely stay here again.

Very easy to find and park at the venue. The room was excellent. The only issue was the service at meal times was quite chaotic. However all in all a very lovely visit. Pool and spa was a highlight!

I have visited Kettering Park Hotel for many special events. The staff are fantastic, friendly, provide great service and always willing to help with any requests. The food is always amazing and very yummy. The rooms and the facilities are first class, the little touches of fresh milk and water along with great coffee are very welcomed. They really provide for families, little touches like smaller dressing gowns and cookies at bedtime really put a smile on the kids faces. I have celebrated birthdays, anniversaries and had many general events here and can highly recommend Kettering Park. I am staying later in the year for the Girls Night In Experience, and I bet this will be just as amazing. Looking forward to it already!

What an amazing hotel. We had our wedding here on the 21st June and it was the most loveliest day. We cannot thank the hotel staff enough for everything they did. The food is absolutely delicious, from the wedding meals, the hotel breakfast and a beautiful room to go with it. Becca and Steph were there every step of the way from booking the venue to planning our final details and answering any questions we had no matter how silly. Victoria was amazing, so lovely and attentive and was always checking in to see if we needed anything. The DJ was brilliant, a really lovely young man, and the 2 young girls who were on the bar for the evening were such lovely people. We are so grateful to you all for making our day so special and can't thank you enough. All our guests were very impressed with everything and some have said it was the best wedding they've been to. It really was a fantastic day and that was all down to your beautiful venue and the lovely staff. An unbelievably priced wedding package. Would definitely recommend if you are thinking about here as a venue or just a general hotel stay. Thanks Kettering Park : )

Pop in to have a cheeky cup of tea as we were looking at 78 Derngate and what a lovely food place for food. Service was incredibly friendly, food tasty, we heard toasted cheese scone with Rene McIntosh style cheese slices and jam and butter, I had coronation chicken sandwich on brown bread with chips, salad and coleslaw on the side. The coronation chicken was just the right side of spicy were a little bit of heat plus oozing fruits that was so nice. The tea was spot-on and we sat outside enjoying the sun while contemplating the marvellous garden! Definitely a hidden find in terms of food, price, quality, friendliness, service.

Wow! We had the pleasure of attending my friends Baby Shower in a beautiful room at The Dining Room yesterday, the table and room was set out so beautifully, we added a few decorations too, the afternoon tea food was out of this world, and my Vegan food was so delicious! The room did get a little bit stuffy, as the windows can’t be opened due to past security issues, so having the door keep opening was refreshing. All of the staff were so accommodating and friendly and helpful, all of my friends had a great time. Thank you. 🙏🏼

My first time visiting here for afternoon tea and I was so impressed with the service and food here! There was a lovely selection of drinks and sweet and savoury goodies, and all tasted delicious. Thanks to the amazing staff for also adding a surprise for my birthday and bringing out a cake and candle, was such a lovely gesture. Definitely recommend this place and I can’t wait to visit again! 🥰 x

What a great place, what a great variety of products; prepped food, vegetables, clothing, patio furniture, garden furniture, plants; annuals, and prenuals, trees, they have some fantastic olive trees, (wouldn't fit in the carry-on). Be prepared to spend a couple of hours and explore, but don't get lost, it's hugh, Moreover it has a great restaurant

Felt unwelcome here as a POC(person of colour) The place itself is beautiful and the aesthetics great although bathrooms weren’t clean. I was really hoping to try the restaurant there but prepared to be stared and gawked at by their regulars.I might try again as I had high expectations but overall just felt uncomfortable and left with a few items from the produce section and skipped on the restaurant.
Luba D — Google review
I went for lunch. It wasn't great sadly. I was on my on my own and was sat right in the middle of the restaurant looking towards an open door or I could have swapped seats and had the door behind me. I ordered a coffee and a jacket potato with bacon cheese and mushrooms. The food was tasty but wasn't hot in the middle and the coffee eventually arrived half way through my meal. I felt very unwelcome. I won't be going back.

Had a lovely afternoon tea, fory mother's birthday, parking was easy, the emporium itself is very accessible and we went mid week it wasn't too busy. Staff are all friendly and happy to talk. Service in restaurant area was excellent. And the staff on the food counters in shop have a lot of knowledge on the produce and product and where they are sourced. Overall a nice afternoon out.

We've visited this garden centre a few times before but never eaten in the restaurant. It really is a good place to eat. Burger and chips were fab, my wife's egg and mayo was delicious and the drinks all good! Must say the best garden centre chips I've had in a long time and the coleslaw was lush too! Friendly staff and a nice atmosphere.

Went there are 11.00 - plenty of tables free in the restaurant - great place to meet friends. Ordered lunch, it was served promptly. The shop is so big, more than just a garden centre, restaurant, plants and flowers, fresh food, bakery, meat and now ladies clothes - and they had a sale on! Easily spent 3 hours there and spent some money! Not bad for a rainy day.

Fawsley Hall Hotel & Spa is a grand Tudor house nestled in the remote countryside, offering an opulent experience with antique furniture and classical rooms. The historic country house is surrounded by vast parkland, providing a picturesque setting for guests to indulge in a luxurious afternoon tea experience. The Tudor Hall, adorned with beautiful and historic features, offers a regal ambiance for enjoying classic finger sandwiches, freshly baked scones, exquisite cakes and pastries.
If you want a special afternoon tea, it has to be here. The service was so warm and relaxed too. Two tiny things, the chicken sandwich was too salty. And the scones (warm, light, everything you want) would have been even better if the accompanying cream had been clotted. Well worth the money overall though. The chocolate mousse was light as air.

My stay at Fawsley Hall Hotel on the night of October 25th was nothing short of magnificent, particularly our time in the incredible 1575 Elizabeth I suite. From the moment we stepped through the doors, we felt transported to a bygone era of elegance and luxury. The Elizabeth I suite itself is breathtaking. The historical charm is perfectly preserved, yet it offers every modern comfort one could wish for. We were captivated by the stunning period features, the spacious layout, and the beautiful views. It truly felt like we were reliving a piece of history, but with all the amenities of a five-star experience. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and every detail, from the furnishings to the lighting, contributed to an atmosphere of serene indulgence. Beyond the exquisite room, the service at Fawsley Hall was impeccable. Every member of staff we encountered was attentive, friendly, and went above and beyond to ensure our stay was perfect. The grounds are absolutely beautiful, perfect for a leisurely stroll, and the overall ambiance of the hotel is wonderfully relaxing. Fawsley Hall Hotel, and especially the Elizabeth I suite, offers an unforgettable escape. It's the perfect blend of historical grandeur, luxurious comfort, and outstanding service. We left feeling utterly refreshed and already dreaming of our next visit. Highly, highly recommend!

came here for afternoon tea. The price is on the higher side, but I felt it was worth it because the place is so beautiful. The scones were really delicious, the cakes were quite good too. But sandwiches a bit small and thin for my liking. The service was great, and overall I really enjoyed the experience.

Stayed for two nights after our wedding. Lovely room, clean and staff were really helpful. The main Tudor hall is impressive, breakfast was varied and well laid out. Loved the spa especially, helpful staff, clean and most importantly very relaxing.

A beautiful historic venue, and the sense one is in safe hands. However, there was a mix up with our booking afternoon tea: done only the previous day on site! However, it was soon sorted. We had a memorable occasion, though felt that it was lacking in savoury: whether this was because we had booked for later in the afternoon: but other posts indicated more savoury. The scones very light and spot on. The cake collection though wanted me to clean my teeth instantly! The staff were attentive and not overly so. We both had different teas to start & resorted to the safe Earl Gray. Both of us commenting on the lack of another vessel of hot water to adjust the strength of the tea. Would we go again…

This Hotel is in the most beautiful location. The spa has a welcoming pool and relaxation rooms . It is very restorative. I sat in the outdoor jacuzzi and watched the swallows diving overhead. The restaurant had excellent service and the most delicious menu prepared with great culinary care and beautifully presented.. The desert contained all my favourite ingredients. Dark chocolate coffee ice cream meringue caramel. Yes it was as good as it sounds. The grounds designed originally by Capability Brown are quintessentially English with lakes, gorgeous tree silhouettes and sheep calling to their lambs roaming freely through the countryside. At night the site is attractively lit and invites a post meal amble. This is an Historic building with a mystical atmosphere and all the accompanying amenities. A visit is highly recommended.

Lovely village cafe. Friendly staff, clean place and quick service. Perfect spot for tea and cake or lunch.

Yesterday me, my boyfriend and his Grandmother came here for an afternoon tea, it was delicious! The food and cakes included were all so tasty and fresh, it was very clean and quirky inside, worth the money, and the staff were all so friendly and polite, we were all very pleased and enjoyed our time there 😊

Me and my friend had coffees and scones here today. Unfortunately I couldn't taste any coffee in my cappuccino. My friend had a flat white and it's basically the same thing as the cappuccino. The scones were fine and we enjoyed them.

This is a great tea/coffee shop. You can get a breakfast freshly cooked all day, fresh cakes, sandwiches and lunchtime meals. The staff are friendly and efficient. I had a delicious ham, salad sandwich today and it comes with crisps and a side salad. I would highly recommend the Number 50 Tea room.

Wellness hotel
The Falcon, located in the serene Castle Ashby village, offers a delightful afternoon tea experience curated by Head Chef Russel Bateman. The menu features the exquisite Compton Cake, a seven-layer rum-soaked chocolate torte sponge paying homage to Lord Northampton. The hotel also boasts an exciting dinner menu available from Wednesday to Sunday, with vegan options and Laurent Perrier Champagne.
We had a fantastic couple of nights stay here. Jackie and Mandy went above and beyond as well as the rest of the team - thank you! Room was lovely and the bed was very comfortable. Style of the hotel also beautiful along with the grounds. The food in the Eyas restaurant was a very special treat and delicious! The East Wing Lounge food was also fab. Breakfast was also a nice experience, new lovers of chai tea!! Castle Ashby gardens is also a short walk and free admission for guests - absolutely stunning and worth a visit. Would highly recommend the Falcon to anyone looking for a mini break and escape. We will be back again in future! Mollie and Josh x

Sadly, this once nice place is closed unless you want a "room only" option. It is unclear that EVERYTHING else is unavailable. It is not clear on the website. It is not visible on Google or other mapping. They seem to think it's OK to let people find out after a long drive that they are in effect closed. Trying to explain this to them was impossible, as they kept interrupting me. They can't seem to understand how unreasonable it is not to make the very limited service clear online. Don't fret however, there are nice places with more polite management elsewhere. The Falcon is ruined now.

A weekend visit for lunch. The grounds and buildings are quite beautiful and well presented. The restaurant itself is calm and has a good if quiet atmosphere. 5 star place. 2 star food. Staff and service were good. The difficulty is the mildly disappointing food. The menu is simple and not overly complicated. It's well presented. It's cooked well enough. It's just not particularly flavourful. It was all rather one dimensional. For £30-35 a main, it underwhelmed. It was all soft and lacked any variation in texture. And likewise, the taste was the same. Subtle, but one dimensional. The pork lacked saltiness and crunch. The vegetarian options likewise were all very soft and mildly one-flavoured, without any variation in texture or taste. Promised much and with a little more effort with the food, could have delivered a really lovely experience. But it didn't. Still nice enough. Just not nice enough to go back for seconds.

We thoroughly enjoyed our two night stay at the Falcon. We decided to take the bikes out to explore the local area which was great fun, followed by yoga and an open water swim. We also took advantage of the complimentary visit to the Castle Ashby gardens. The rooms are luxurious and the hotel as a whole is very well looked after. Every meal we had at the hotel was amazing including at the Eyas restaurant. The staff could not do enough to make our stay enjoyable and went above and beyond in every aspect. I would highly recommend a visit to the Falcon, you will not be disappointed.

Stayed at The Falcon for my birthday, beautiful hotel, really enjoyed the food, had some lovely vegan food however only one vegan starter, main and desert in the Eyas restaurant for dinner, but it was all delicious. The waitresses were attentive and knowledgeable. Relaxing atmosphere felt really comfortable. The room was very cosy, overlooking the front of the front. Amazing shower, room was nice and warm and excellent black out blinds and curtains. Had a gong bath session and open water swim on our stay. Both fantastic. Forth tine doing a gong bath and enjoyed it so much helping us to relax. Swimming in the lovely lake provides an amazing experience in the grounds of castle Ashby. Absolutely beautiful. Breakfast in the East Wing lounge. Lovely long lazy breakfast in calming surroundings. There wasn’t much on the menu as being plant based but asked and they bought out a separate vegan menu which was delicious with a lot of thought going into it. Definitely better than the dinner options. Also during our stay went to visit the beautiful Castle Ashby gardens and the Rural Courtyard with small independent shops, amazing food in the cafe and lovely food to buy in the deli. The Falcon is a wonderful place to stay for rest and relaxation, really looking after your wellbeing. Definitely would go back again. Thank you for a lovely time

We stumbled upon The Falcon Hotel after visiting the beautiful Castle Ashby Gardens and decided to call in for lunch. Firstly, it wasn't immediately apparent which door to enter through to gain access to the hotel or if it was actually open for dining but we managed to locate the main front door and a member of staff who directed us to the more informal area of the hotel for casual dining. The seating is pleasant and the environment is airy and relaxed in the informal dining area. I chose the Caesar salad with a side of fries for lunch and my partner opted for the burger. The food arrived promptly and was well plated. Unfortunately half way through eating my salad I found a long hair wrapped around a piece of lettuce. I raised this with the restaurant manager who dealt with it quickly. The salad up until that point had been delicious. We might consider returning to sample the fine dining for a special occasion. We didn't realise this was an option when we first arrived as this wasn't made very clear. I wanted this Hotel to leave a lasting impression on us as it looks so good from the outside and the inside is very tastefully furnished but on this occasion it left us feeling underwhelmed.

A wonderful hotel within the beautiful village and grounds of Castle Ashby, Northampton. We stayed for 2 nights and all the staff across the hotel from the receptionists to the restaurant staff and bartenders were just fantastic. We were made to feel very welcome, staff were very warm, friendly and they went above and beyond to make us feel extremely comfortable. The hotel is beautifully decorated, breakfast and menus were quite varied and the food quality fantastic. Didn't want to leave but will certainly be returning! The shopping yard on the doorstep is lovely as is the grounds of Castle Ashby, all within walking distance.

If you're looking for a delightful afternoon tea experience, look no further than The Eccentric Englishman on St Giles Street. This charming venue combines quirky decor with a unique atmosphere reminiscent of 19th-century gothic-industrial design and Steampunk flair. Perfect for celebrations like hen dos or gatherings with friends, you can indulge in their Prohibition Tea or elevate your experience with the Tiddley Tea, which includes scrumptious cocktails.
Absolutely lovely place for an afternoon tea. From the moment you walk in, your eyes go into overdrive as you try to focus on all the wonderful decorations that cover the walls and ceilings. The food is presented on bone China, it’s well prepared and tastes fantastic. The third course is homemade cheesecake, I wasn’t sure I was going to like it but oh my, it left me feeling it was the best I’d ever tasted. Don’t go in expecting a large seating area, it’s small and cosy, my only negative would be I tried to initially book online but after no reply for three days I called. Three afternoon teas, one a vegetarian option which arrived on its own board, a very nice touch. We attended as a birthday treat for our daughter, we ordered a home made cake and again, it was one of the best we’d tasted, we will definitely visit again.

Wonderful Staff, out of this world food, one of a kind venue, and such lovely service! We booked the cafe to have an afternoon tea for my friends hen do, and the team here were so lovely a such amazing people! The afternoon tea is different to what most are; you get three courses, one savoury, one sweet, and one cheesecake. The lemon cheesecake is the most delicious thing I have ever tasted and is virtually mousse-like! All the savoury food was super flavoursome, and the mismatched crockery and decor is so cute and means the venue is super exciting no matter where you look. Liz the owner is so friendly, super responsive, and really helpful with any questions/organisation you might need. Highly recommend booking an event here, or attending one of their events like their book clubs/quizzes/afternoon teas etc. I will definitely be back!
Amy H — Google review
Went for my 35th birthday really excited to try the afternoon tea and was really disappointed :( We had the gentleman’s afternoon tea and the prohibition tea. The bread that came with the gentleman’s afternoon tea was mouldy. Luckily we realised before we ate it, and asked for it to be taken back. We didn’t want more bread at this point but no apologies or discounts from the final bill were offered. The scotch egg, pork pie and sausage felt like they were from the supermarket and put on our plate. There was also no crusty bread with fillings like it says on the menu, only bread and butter (with the mouldy bread we had to send back). My prohibition afternoon tea was hit and miss, the hot chocolate and little sandwiches were okay. Most of the other parts of the dish (especially the stale brownie bite) had the same supermarket feel, definitely not fresh or homemade. It felt really disappointing to pay £50.60 for a meal that wasn’t good and where it felt like instead of making the food in the restaurant we just got served bits straight out of a packet. I don’t like confrontation so we just left, I don’t think we’ll come back.

I carried out the fire risk assessment on the venue, a unique quirky place with an owner that cares. The building is exquisite in its look of which is grade II listed. Sadly the venue only is pre booked events. Liz made a wicked Meringue. I would say any one who goes would enjoy the quirkiness and privacy of the venue to themselves.

The Eccentric Englishman since 2021! This place is a true gem in town. The unique blend of 19th-century gothic-industrial steam-powered machinery and a touch of Phileas Fogg's spirit creates an unforgettable atmosphere. Lord and Lady Muck have truly outdone themselves with this establishment. From the moment you step in, you're transported to a world of elegance, soft-gothic charm, and inventive Steampunk aesthetics. The ongoing events, from Bottomless Brunch, comedy night, Harry Potter, to live music, ensure that there's always something exciting happening here. The decor is impressive, a perfect mix of historic and whimsical elements. The staff is friendly, and the cleanliness of the place is commendable. I'm eagerly looking forward to returning for their delightful cocktails. If you're seeking an exceptional experience that blends history, creativity, and a touch of eccentricity, The Eccentric Englishman is the place to be!

Awbery's Tea Rooms is a charming and cozy spot that offers a delightful afternoon tea experience. The tearoom serves delicious and filling treats such as tiny sandwiches, fresh scones, and slices of cake alongside endless pots of tea. The service is friendly and timely, creating a welcoming atmosphere for visitors. While some suggest adding background music to enhance the ambiance, others appreciate the quaint and clean setting with sturdy tables and table service.
My family and I visited for a birthday treat. I’d never been here before, (neither had my family). We wanted an afternoon tea and I trusted Google reviews and picked the tea room with the highest rating, honestly, it was even better than expected. The service was outstanding, the cafe was spotless, it was cold outside but it was lovely and warm inside, the food was presented beautifully. We contacted them ahead of time and they organised food for specific dietary requirements. The food was outstanding and it was.incredible value for money. We had a perfect afternoon and I will definitely visit again.
The H — Google review
The tea room is located within a courtyard of small businesses. The place isn't huge but its capacity is used very well. Nicely decorated and very clean. The toilet was also very clean and the room was kept in great condition. A good menu for a small business and everyone's orders were freshly made and more than adequately sized. They also do phone takeaway orders as people (obviously regulars from the conversations) were collecting them and that's an obvious positive to have so much repeat custom. I would recommend Awberys tea room and I wouldn't hesitate to visit again.

Out green laning on motorbikes and ended up near Wollaston and fancied a coffee. Google maps pointed us to Awbery’s. Such a friendly welcome from the 2 ladies there, and fantastic egg and bacon rolls, followed by possibly the best chocolate brownie I’ve ever eaten. Will definitely be back next time we’re out that way!

Gemma and her team at The Copper Kitchen are known for their exceptional service and creativity. From crafting stunning wedding cakes to providing impressive grazing tables, every detail is handled with care and expertise.
We booked the Copper Kitchen to cater the evening buffet for our wedding in June and we can’t recommend them enough. Communication was excellent, and they were so accommodating to our guests with dietary requirements. Our guest who is both gluten and dairy intolerant said it was the best she’d ever been catered for and was so grateful. It was beautiful presented and set up so efficiently, I didn’t even notice until she was done! We’ll definitely be using them for any future events!

The Copper Kitchen catered for our recent vow renewal, we opted for a buffet to cater for 86 guests including vegetarian and vegans options. The presentation of the buffet was stunning, and the food tasted incredible! We had so many compliments from our guests. Gemma was very accommodating and communication was great. They also supplied a cutting cake and 100 cupcakes for the evening that were both beautiful and delicious! We found this option good value for money. We would highly recommend The Copper Kitchen!

We contacted the copper kitchen to supply the catering for my Mums 60th birthday party. The afternoon tea they provided was superb and no request was too small! The food arrived beautifully presented on platters and there was a fantastic selection of teas and coffees provided. Gemma communicated efficiently at all times and checked everything through with me to make sure I was happy before proceeding. We had so many comments from the guests about how amazing the food was so thank you Gemma for doing such an amazing job! Would highly recommend.

All of our guests loved it and the ladies were so friendly. I would highly recommend.

I can not recommend enough. I recently requested a wedding cake for my daughter, I provided a very obscure description of what she wanted and it was delivered and couldn't of been better. The care and attention taken was second to none and not too mention delicious! If you need any catering requirements I would always use this company. Absolutely superb!!
Sarah P — Google review
Gemma and the copper kitchen did me proud! From the moment I approached Gemma about a wedding cake until the last crumb was eaten everything was perfect. Gemma was very helpful with ideas and approachable which in turn created the most beautiful wedding cake. We had a two tier cake along with a cutting cake and all the flavours were superb. The cake was so fresh that it was still delicious even a week later. The only downside was that the cake was too delicious and we are now a few pounds heavier! Gemma set the cake up for us and decorated it with the fresh flowers the florist supplied. The flowers were given to Gemma as a bunch of random flowers and Gemma arranged them beautifully for us. We loved our cake! All in all I would recommend Gemma and the copper kitchen to everyone.

Step into a time machine back to the 1940s at The Blitz Tea Rooms and Jazz Lounge, where authentic furnishings and staff dressed in period attire create a nostalgic atmosphere. Enjoy two options for afternoon tea, each with a variety of savory and sweet treats. Immerse yourself in the era with music from the time period and BBC news broadcasts playing in the background.

absolutely would not recommend i brought my family members here and was awaiting them and walked in towards the loo before I ordered for me and my family and was shouted at where do you think your going. to which I replied I'm using the loo and then explained I'm going to buy something after woods to which I was told the damage was already done and to leave. I further explained that I was coming in to sit and she ushered me out of the building saying the damage was done absolutely horrible customer service. If my grandma had been there it would have been about to much for her to put up with due to her dementia

Bosworth's Garden Centre is a delightful destination that combines the charm of a garden centre with the comforts of a café. The café offers both indoor and outdoor seating on a lovely terrace, making it perfect for enjoying breakfast or afternoon tea while soaking up the fresh air.
My mother lives on Finedon Rd. Every time we visit her from America, we like to stop by Bosworth’s for a poke around the shops and something to eat. This time we enjoyed a yummy ploughman’s lunch and smoothies. All was delicious. The staff are so friendly and kind. I would definitely recommend a visit for yourself.

Seated quickly by friendly staff, order taken efficiently, food came out promptly and couldn't fault anything! Bacon and sausage delightful, hash browns possibly the best I've ever tasted. Such an amazing find. Covid measures all in ce so felt really safe. Service was attentive and the food and cocktails were out of this world. Our first time here but will definitely be back again soon!

Have eaten here many times and it remains one of my favourite restaurants in Northampton. Staff are always very friendly and attentive. Love the range and quality of food. Their onion bhaji scotch egg is a stand-out dish!

I LOVE this restaurant.💗 Visited a few times now for different occasions, and every single time, the food and service are faultless. We try something different to get a full taste of the menu.. I have not been disappointed. The cocktails slip down farrrr to easy!! I would most definitely recommend to anyone. Perfect for couple, parties or just a group of friends on a catch. Staff and chef/owner make this restaurant friendly and welcoming to all. Parking available on the street. Covid measures observed. Spotlessly clean and well presented👍🏼👍🏼

First time dining here. Really enjoyed it. For a silly reason, we went against the grain and order 4 plus dishes per person and whilst we ate it all, I was feeling a little worse for wear the following day due to a food hangover. Despite my over eating, the food was superb and the staff were great. I would thoroughly recommend. P.s stick to 2-3 dishes. 👍
Mr T — Google review
One of the most enjoyable evenings out food wise in a while. Follow the suggestions on the menu and you can't go wrong. Great flavours and a huge variety of dishes served in a "Tappas" style. Plenty of time to share and enjoy at a very reasonable price, the staff were attentive without being pushy and everything was served fresh and hot (not the ice cream) This is one we will definitely be back to as there are way too many dishes to cover in one night. For those who are interested the meal for 4 including deserts and two bottles of wine came to £135.

What a truly fabulous place. First visit for their Saturday brunch menu was so impressed we book to go back the following week to try their evening menu. Freshly cooked with care and thought. The menu has so much choice we will be returning ASAP to try what we missed out on ! Lovely friendly service too. Have been telling everyone it’s a must !

Pub
Nestled in a charming brick-built Grade II listed structure, The Three Conies offers an inviting atmosphere that combines quirky decor with a delightful dining experience. This family-owned pub features an L-shaped layout, with a lively bar at the front and a restaurant that cleverly mimics the rustic charm of barn conversions despite being built in the early 1990s. Originally part of Phipps' tied houses, it has successfully maintained its unique character over the years.
Well what can I say apart from what an amazing place this is. Staff were amazing and welcoming. The roast dinner is the best iv had apart from mine I do at home 😂 . Great portion size and the price is very good. The deco is amazing as well as mental. My new favourite place and can not wait to go back. Thank you very much for a lovely time and great food. Would highly recommend. U will need to book two weeks in advance for the Sunday roast.

Met up with a friend for lunch. This pub is so fun and quirky! All the decorations are really interesting and it’s definitely very unique. Service was amazing, really kind and attentive. They have a nice outside area too! Food was good, very much pub food. We shared some squid, pork belly, Caesar salad and chips. Overall, it was nice and I’d come back, would like to try the high tea! Price was very good too.
Jennifer P — Google review
Wow what a find. We booked in with our motorhome for an overnight stay and were blown away by the food, service and most of all the internal decor of the pub. Thanks to everyone for making us so welcome. We will be back 😊

Bizarre place. Love it! Food is decent but the atmosphere is unbeatable with toilet that comes with tropical forest sound. Love the outdoor farm too.

Visited for the first time on a Saturday lunchtime. Food was lovely, but could have been a bit warmer. I had the Thai green curry and it was luke warm rather than piping hot. Ploughman's was a good size and tasty. Service was a tad slow to begin with taking our order, but the food arrived relatively quickly and then the service seemed to speed up. Would visit again to try the Sunday roast.

We had been here a few years ago, prior to the recent redecoration. It's a real assault on the eyes, in a good way. There's a lot to take in but we liked that. We're both picky eaters so the menu was a tad limited but I suspect very good for the majority. Our young server was helpful and popes in and out a few times serving others so he was on hand, if needed. We will be going back and I'd advise everyone to book in advance before just turning up.
Michael G — Google review
The staff were all very welcoming, attentive and charismatic. Food service was fast, big portions and great quality. The atmosphere is very clean and unique with great lighting and quirky arts all around. I am very happy to have booked my works Christmas meal here. See you in December!

With HS2 diverting all passing traffic away, this is a hidden gem. Lovely food, especially the Sunday roast, friendly and welcoming service and an internal decor and ambience like nowhere else. We highly recommend booking a visit.

The Good Loaf is a unique social enterprise located in the heart of Northampton, with additional locations across Northamptonshire. They are passionate about giving people opportunities and employ experienced staff, community volunteers, and women on work experience programs. The bakery not only produces fantastic bread for wholesale and retail but also provides work placements for local women re-entering the workforce. Their cafes offer artisan breads, homemade cakes, locally roasted coffee, and more.
Lovely place to have brunch 🍳 got their apple crumble tart, iced chai latte & iced coffee with toffee nut syrup (i rarely find this syrup in other cafes so im v happy) amazing coffee & service, smell of fresh baked bread in the air is amazing, I brought my laptop do do some work there although there wasn’t any public wifi :”) hopefully they’ll install one soon but overall a nice spacious place!

The Good Loaf is a welcoming spot with genuinely lovely staff and consistently great coffee—lattes are always hot. The Marmite and cheese bread is a household favourite, and the sweet treats never disappoint. There's plenty of space, plus a kids' corner with toys and books, making it a relaxed place to catch up with friends. Just be aware it’s not wheelchair accessible and the stairs are steep.

Absolutely lovely food, and just a little bit different from the normal cafe menu. It's definitely worth a visit. And the hot chocolate is pretty impressive too!

A really nice independent business with friendly service, off the beaten track. Don’t be put off by the exterior, it’s upstairs. We had the omelettes with toast both of which were delicious. The chocolate cookie also looked and tasted amazing. Really friendly staff, we will be back.

Absolutely loved this cafe. The staff were super friendly and welcoming. The food was fantastic 😋 and coffee was good. They also made and sold fresh bread. Would definitely come here again and highly recommended.
Angela H — Google review
One of the best bakeries in Northampton selling contemporary artisan bread. As the name suggests, they specialize in bread which gives plenty of options to choose from. I went for a Saturday morning brekkie and it was very delightful. I got the scones with cream and jam, a croissant and a sourdough cheese melt. Everything was extremely delicious. Due to dietary restrictions I asked a lot of questions and they were very clear that there is no cross contamination. I also got a cappuccino and latte which was one of the best ones I’ve had in Northampton. Definitely worth visiting and a 5/5 experience.
Zubair S — Google review
Yes, it is open. Head inside, up the stairs, past the yellow mellow cooking oils stand and behold The Good Loaf. It is a bakery on a BIG scale. They have a range of breads on display on a table in the centre of their cafe. Thrown together much like a House of Fraser sale. Fresh, but not Magee Bakery fresh. It’s big, but lacks the vibrancy of a neighbourhood cafe. To avoid disappointment, order online and pickup.
David C — Google review
A clean contemporary decorated eatery. The menu is restrictive but excellent quality and value for money. You have a choice of breads with whatever you select and washed down with a wide range of coffees at realistic prices. Then you can peruse the various breads available to buy and take home. Well worth a visit to support this venture.

What a hidden gem 💎 The staff were all so friendly, such a warm charming environment. Beautiful homemade cakes and food. I had the most amazing soup and hubby had a ploughman's.. First time at the tea rooms, had afternoon tea and were very happy with it all, nice bread sandwiches and cakes lovely ( my favourite was the mini lemon meringue, really lovely). Saw some scrummy sandwiches going to lunch tables and the salad is something I will try next time I’m there at a lunchtime. Very nice.

A hidden gem. Our second visit. This time with our son, daughter in law and grandson. Firstly the service is excellent. The staff are very accommodating in every way. Secondly the food is absolutely fantastic and very tasty. Fresh and of very good quality. This time we tried the cakes too. So many to choose from. We couldn't decide and had 2 ½ portions of different cakes. It was lovely that there were also decent and tasty choices for our grandson. Highly recommended for a tasty lunch

We came here as part of a day trip, quite a secluded area, surrounded by fishing lakes in the countryside. Enough parking, cute little tea room, there was no scones which i was looking forward to, which means I'll have to return! Great outdoor seating area and lovely play area for toddlers!

Stopped by today with a group of a dozen cyclists. So many things to praise about this place, firstly the huge welcome from the lovely staff, then the brilliant selection of coffee/teas and cake. A couple of us had the bacon & brie sandwiches, which were massive, and finally the service, everything brought out to us with a smile and a chat, also great value!. A huge thanks from the U3a cycling group

Nestled in the charming Wakefield Country Courtyard in Potterspury, near Towcester, The ARTea Room is a delightful countryside café and gift shop that offers a unique twist on the traditional afternoon tea experience. Recently, I had the pleasure of attending a bottomless prosecco event hosted by The Start Up Hive, where we were treated to an overflowing selection of homemade delights.
We had the most amazing Afternoon Tea recently 🥰 the staff were so attentive and the sandwiches and cakes were delicious 😋 There was so many that we ended up taking some back home…..they were too nice not to!! Would Highly recommend visiting for the Afternoon Tea or in fact anything else on the menu. Whilst we were there All the food that we saw being served did look delicious and we could not believe that there were 4 pages of specialty teas. Well done to all who made our visit so memorable. What a fantastic afternoon tea. We were thoroughly spoilt and had an incredible afternoon. Food was amazing. Very obviously freshly home baked cakes and scones not to mention the devine range of freshly made sandwiches. I was impressed with the care that was taken to accommodate my dietary requirements. From online enquiry, through to confirmation and today's visit I can only rate them 10 out of 10. We were so well looked after and made to feel very welcome. I will definitely be going back. I highly recommend The Artea room if you are looking for somewhere to enjoy a special traditional English tea. Thank you to the team again

Lovely garden centre with excellent cafe on site. Includes the craft shack that has lots of lovely items that are handmade from local sellers. There is a pets corner type area with ducks, goats and chickens which is always a favourite with kids. A new found treasure that we will definitely visit again.
Tracy B — Google review
A quaint little garden centre offering something a little different to the usual big name places that are all pretty much the same. The choice is limited but what it lacks in merchandise it makes up for in other areas. The layout and quirky style jumps out at you, the animal pens and area for the goats is great. We visited the cafe, the staff were super polite, the choice was just right it tasted nice and the price was reasonable, very clean in there too. We will be returning with the grandson as he’ll love seeing the animals. October 30th and no Christmas decorations or artificial trees for sale. I’m not sure if this is something they don’t do or we were just too early.

What an amazing place, firstly in a great location. Plenty of parking. The garden centre sells lots of plants but also rabbits, parrots and chickens. There is a display of goats who are in an enclosure, and there are chickens who walk in. And ducks in the pond. The pond shop is great, real knowledgeable guys, and a great service. Some amazing koi on display. The tea roof is really quaint, and the service is great. Big pots of tea and massive scones. I can't wait to go back.

Unfortunately on the day we visited, the farmer next door had a field he was burning,so spoilt the experience. Felt sorry for all the animals here as they couldn't escape the smoke, we dived into the little emporium for a mooch which had some really interesting pieces in there. A quick look around the antique shed and unfortunately we were off,as the smoke was getting down my throat

Small nice garden centre, a lovely visit with children as chickens, rabbits, goats and even a tortoise to see. Tea room looked a small dark room to sit inside and we wanted to sit outside which the bench was taken so we carried on. We enjoyed the visit!

Saw an article in the Northampton Chronicle that this place has opened up where Foodies Rocks used to be. Given the current situation I thought it was brave of anyone to open a new restaurant and they deserved a chance and I'm glad we did. Firstly, when you arrive they take their covid precautions seriously, which makes you feel safe. The owner is really pleasant and the staff are all young, still learning, but helpful and eager. The menu is interesting and varied, although some things (mainly the starters, without knowing portion sizes) seemed expensive, but other things seemed ridiculously cheap. For starters we shared a mixed grill (£9.99) which was huge and easily big enough for two of us. For mains my wife had the lamb shank, with garlic mash, gravy and sugar coated carrots, which she said was beautiful. I had the chicken karahi, which came with rice and a lovely fresh salad with dressing. The chicken was prepared in a traditional way, cut into small pieces, but still on the bone. This can make it a bit tricky to eat and may be off putting to some, but means the meat retains its juices and flavour. The spices in the sauce was amazing and full of subtle flavours. It was probably the best chicken karahi I have ever had. The restaurant is slightly off the beaten track, but please give them a try as the food experience is well worth it.
Adrian B — Google review
#1 Hello everyone! It's a forbidden place for me. I do not advise anyone to go there. All the food is not tasty and of poor quality, the prices are too high. But the worst thing was when we took home delivery in this place. We were brought rotten fish to go, all the food stinked disgustingly, instead of soups they put a terrible mass that looked like a disgusting sour sauce. Bruschetta, which in the photo not only looked disgusting, they were terribly cooked. Before that, we were in this place and ordered other dishes and they were all tolerant, but not delicious. I don't advise anyone to visit this place, it's terrible. #2 ANSWER TO OWNER Hello, we decided to write you another comment, as you found a way to justify what happened with food delivery. If you think that the customer can't tell rotten fish from fresh, if you think that stinky fish can be gross, then that's dangerous. Maybe you receive quality products, but I understood how you store them after I received a good amount of dishes that were spoiled or simply not tasty. It was very strange for me to come across frequently visited comments because I had dinner for coffee 2 times and it was not tasty for me, I did not feel the taste of even partial dishes. The only thing I liked was the "sunny rise" moctail, if I'm not mistaken. And even here, your moctail costs £6, how is that?( There are only 2 types of juice in this drink and a serving with plastic flamingo) In a quality restaurant “another one”, whose moctail is served amazing and it is unrealistically delicious, is cheaper. Do you want me to come to the restaurant and see how you cook, why? Can you fix the fact that yesterday you sent me rotten fish, frozen old bruschettas and disgusting mass, which was called soup? No, thank you. I just don't understand if your cook can't cook, why do you feed people at all and put such huge prices on dishes? It's a lawlessness for me.
