Barbecue restaurant
Nestled in the heart of Olde Towne East, B & K Smoke House is a delightful barbecue spot that captures the essence of traditional smoked meats. This charming counter-serve eatery may appear unassuming from the outside, but it’s a treasure trove for BBQ lovers seeking authentic flavors and hearty portions. The standout dish here is undoubtedly the Turkey Ribs, which are so tender they practically fall off the bone.
Stopped by for lunch today and was thoroughly impressed. There was a few people waiting on food and everything came up so fast for them. Ordered the rib dinner and was told 5-10 minutes and it was done in just 2 minutes. They showed me the plate before bagging it up and put more sauce on the ribs for me. Super quick and easy process and the food! My god these are easily some of the best pork ribs I've had since Terry blacks in Austin. I personally think they beat those ribs, no question! The sauce is sweet, smoky with the perfect hint of spice that everyone will love. The collard greens are perfectly seasoned and fresh, the Mac & cheese was loaded with cheese and baked to perfection. It might be out of the way but for the price, the quality, the taste and how quick they put this together, you absolutely can not beat this BBQ! This is a must stop for anyone and everyone looking for the best BBQ in columbus. So glad I made this stop.

02/28/24- revisited B & K Smoke House last week and sampled another one of their dinner plates; the Beef Brisket w/Collard Greens, and Mac & Cheese. Very delicious. I recently visited B & K Smoke House and wow wee! Probably “the” best beef brisket I have tasted in Columbus. Deliciously, flavorful, savory, and tender. True definition of finger licking good. I purchased the Combo # 1 with potato salad as my side. I also purchased the 10 Piece Chicken Wing Dinner (sweet & spicy sauced wings) with collard greens and mac & cheese for my two sides (2 sides included if you make your order a “dinner” order. Everything tastes amazing. This cooking is made with love. Tight and limited seating. Cool and zen space. Carry out highly recommended. Limited parking on Champion. Professional and welcoming service. Decent prices.

Right I’ve been going here for at least six years. The customer service is amazing. The gentleman who runs the restaurant he knows you literally buy faith. He is sweet. The food is authentic. It is made with love. I’ve never ordered anything there. I do not like and I always come back more

Okay…I really REALLY wanted this place to be incredible; in short, the food is strictly okay overall. The owners were so lovely and I genuinely do hope they take this critique in stride. We ordered the pork ribs, brisket dinners with mac and cheese, collard greens, baked beans and cornbread. The pork ribs were delicious - excellent smoke, tender, juicy, nice meaty bite. Tasting the ribs first, I thought this was the perfect set up for an even more flavorful meal, but I was wrong. The collard greens were alright, they definitely were not made with smoked meat which isn’t an entire deal breaker, but they only tasted of vegetable stock and vinegar - not overly salty but just not the best tasting. Unfortunately the mac and cheese was just not good, at all. The noodles were well cooked and held their structure, but that was probably the best thing about it - lacked flavor entirely, just noodles and cheese. No salt, no pepper, NOTHING. Thrown away, just not good, I couldn’t eat it. The baked beans were interesting, might’ve been the best thing under the pork ribs honestly. The flavor was different from any baked beans I’ve had, tasted like they may have used cinnamon and slightly too much nutmeg in the beans, overall they were fine. The cornbread was sad, dense, lacking flavor almost like it was an afterthought. Not baked well. Now…how utterly disappointing was this brisket!!! (Sad face) The seasoning did not come through on this cook, you couldn’t really taste the smoke on this; in order to eat the food I had to douse the brisket in their house BBQ sauce. While the sauce brought the food alive - I wish the smoke on the brisket could’ve done all the work!! The sauce is required in order to taste a modicum of flavor, and in BBQ the sauce should be optional. While yummy the sauce was definitely oil based, it just kind of slipped through the brisket and pooled at the bottom of the container. Overall, I’m not sure if this was just an off day, or if this is how the food really is. I’m truly saddened by this experience, I really wanted this to be good!
Grace C — Google review
Tender really tender ribs but seams like they could have been more seasoned to be more flavored. Mac and cheese not that great. Beans pretty good. I would go back.
Luis H — Google review
This was the first time coming there to get food and I will say it was amazing. The young lady who took the order for my wife and I was a sweetheart. We ordered the brisket dinner with collard greens and Mac and cheese with cornbread. The brisket was damn good. Very favor full and moist, nothing dry about it. The Mac and cheese was really good. The greens were good, but I will say that I wish the meat was in the greens, like hammock or bacon. But overall, this food was amazing. I am stuffed. My wife is stuffed as well. My wife and I might have to move in because we need more of that🤣🤣

I happened to be on this side of town around lunch time and boy I am glad I stopped here. This smoked BBQ spot is IDEAL. "hole in the wall" but a nice ordering/waiting area. Lunch combos are $13 and for the brisket sandwich and mac n cheese combo I got, I'd be charged $18 or $22 at big name smoke houses out in KC or Memphis. Seems family owned. I will definitely make my way to OTE again for this food.

Barbecue restaurant
Ray Ray's Hog Pit Clintonville is a year-round food truck in Central Ohio that has garnered a loyal following for its exceptional barbecue. The meats are hardwood-smoked and served with an array of traditional and original sauces, allowing the authentic smoky flavor to shine through. Their award-winning barbecue is available daily via drive-thru, walk-up, and online ordering, as well as catering for special events.
Stopped in here for a bite before heading out of town after a concert — and I’m so glad we did. This BBQ was absolutely out of this world! I went with the Meatsweats Combo so I could try a little bit of everything, and it did not disappoint. From the pulled pork to the jerk chicken, brisket, ribs, and hot link — every single bite was packed with flavor and melted in your mouth. Everything slapped, and the BBQ sauce? Hands down the best I’ve ever had. If you’re reading this, do yourself a favor and stop here. You will not be disappointed. The spot is small but cozy, with three indoor tables that seat up to four each. There are also three picnic-style tables outside by the smoker where they’re working their magic.

First experience was great! The staff was very patient and friendly and gave me information about everything.., The meal I chose was FULL of meat and everything tested so good! You definitely need to put your stretchy pants on for these meals! Lol

Had some great BBQ from Ray Ray's. The hot honey IPA sauce was unique and delicious on our pork belly sandwich. The waffle fries were great and we got a generous portion. I was full and waited until I got home to have the cornbread cobbler. Highly recommend as a dessert and I don't even like peaches. We stood in line for about 10 minutes to order because they don't take a bunch of orders at a time. Once you place your order, it didn't take long to get our food.

almost missed it, road signage was almost invisible. would try this again next time. meat sweats is ALOT for the price, definitely a value, even more so if you share it with someone. need to try the other sauces. had the sweet. maybe the hot, the vinegar and one other.

This food was great! We went around 5PM on a weekday and there was no wait—I’m sure when it’s busy it’s BUSY because the taste is unparalleled in Columbus. It’s a smoke-forward BBQ. The meat was all tender and not super fatty—just enough. The sauces really weren’t needed. I’m a fan.
Elle J — Google review
The ribs, dry rub chicken and sausages are so good! Especially the dry rub chicken and sausages, the best I had ever had. The brisket is good but they cut it a bit too thick. I can’t wait to come for the sausages and dry rub chicken again.

I was in town visiting from Cleveland and stopped by Ray Ray’s after a few friends recommended it: this place will change your life. Best ribs I’ve ever had, great brisket, jerk chicken was fantastic. Staff were really helpful in selecting sauces and very friendly. I’ll definitely stop by on return trips to Columbus.

Smoked On High BBQ is a popular spot in Columbus, housed in a charming Victorian building with a laid-back atmosphere. The menu features slow-smoked BBQ dishes and an array of craft beers. Known for its Texas dry rub style barbecue, the restaurant offers flavorful meats without wet sauce, using their own blend of herbs and spices. Customers rave about the pork ribs that are perfectly tender with a rich charring, while the pork sandwich and cole slaw also receive high praise.
Passing through Columbus, OH. Smoked on High BBQ fit the bill. Well versed in BBQ… Texas, NC, St. Louis, Kansas, and on… this was a great spot if you are looking for tasty and tender BBQ. Would definitely return. Signage is deceiving bc it’s not clear on the road. But worth a second drive to find the place. Enjoy!

This delightful, quant BBQ spot on South High St in Columbus is a gem. As my hubby is newly disabled, I was concerned with getting him inside, but it's accessible for wheelchairs. Not the easiest access, but doable. The smell from outside to inside leaves you wanting to check this place out! We ordered the ribs combo with Coleslaw, and corn bread. Also ordered the Brisket Sandwich with collard greens and corn bread. The flavor of the meat didn't need any sauce, but we grabbed the Gator and the Sweet Whiskey both of which were also yummy. The ribs were smoked to perfection and although super thick, fell off the bone with a simple plastic fork. The burnt end brisket was a tad bit salty, but delicious and tender. I specifically asked for burnt ends, and he pulled out a fresh brisket... The collard greens were super tender, and full of flavors - a hint of vinegar with the pork fat made for a super yum experience. Will definitely be back soon!
Heidi A — Google review
First, I want to talk about how delicious the MAX and cheese was and the greens! I've been a lot of places, and you just don't get them as delicious as they're being served here. I could order pans of that and be satisfied for the holidays! The staff were super friendly, the ambiance was giving cozy vibes. I met the chef and he was also very welcoming! We ordered a slab of ribs, a brisket sandwich, max and cheese, and greens. My brisket was very dry, and honestly, I probably went ever order it again. However everything else made up for the brisket! Ribs were tender, flavourful and the sides were 10/10! I also posted a review on TT. Go check it out.
Courtney D — Google review
The brisket needs no sauce with the smoked in flavor filled char, but the sauce options are tasty. The Mac and cheese was really good- not over salted or over spiced: great balance with different cheeses. We love the cheering and tea as well. Nice atmosphere with natural light.
Beauty I — Google review
So after many recommendations I decided to try this place out. Never again. I order 1/2 of ribs, with sauce, I got dry and tough ribs. The Mac and cheese wasn't even melted, cold and stuck together in one big chuck. For the greens. It was absolutely disgusting. It looks like it was greens ans cabbage mixed. And the cabbage looking stuff has black spots all over it
Angelique J — Google review
Came to gather a taste of Max's establishment and was quite impressed with the quality, hence the appropriate rating. Selected the beef brisket cut and side of macaroni with cheese. Moist, flavorful, and succulent. Complimented with a whiskey sauce. Staff guys were informative and well-mannered. The space was cozy, well lit to enjoy our food.
Daran T — Google review
This place rightfully deserves a 4.7 with a thousand reviews, absolutely perfectly cooked meats, nothing was dry, every single side dish was cooked to perfection and was a delightful refresh to side dishes. If you get the sampler for 25 bucks, you're basically feeding two people for 12.50 each, artisan meats and completely full. Pictures say a thousand words!
Adam M — Google review
Oh let me tell you.... the brisket was DELICIOUS! So moist, great flavor. The smoked chicken same thing. There wasn't a bad thing on my plate. Mac&cheese amazing with the garlic herbiness in there. Cornbread was so yummy! Can't go wrong with what you order here!

City Barbeque is a popular chain of counter-serve smokehouses known for their classic barbecue dishes and down-home atmosphere. The restaurants offer a variety of BBQ options, with bone-in chicken being a favorite among customers. The staff is friendly and helpful, providing quick service in clean and well-maintained indoor and outdoor seating areas. The menu features smoked meats prepared in-house, with reasonable prices for the quality offered.
This was a really good choice on our part while in town for a concert. The Alabama pulled chicken was the best we have ever had. Delicious. Would recommend. Also had the corn pudding and pastrami. So good.
Diana H — Google review
I recently moved back to Cbus and wanted to give City Barbeque a try since it’s been over 10 years since I’ve dine with the company. The restaurant has been fully remodeled and is beautiful inside. Music was playing and it was definitely busy. I ordered a half slab of ribs and two sides (Mac and green beans). The ribs were tender and fell off the bone. However, that sides were basic and really didn’t have a lot of flavor. I think brussels sprouts and baked beans would be a great addition to the old menu. I asked to have a sample of the brisket to try. I was told they could not give me a sample because they were “low”. The manager was a young black guy. Since then I’ve gone to the restaurant three times and the last time I decided to ask about the sample. The cashier said “of course we provide samples” she was shocked that the parson told me no. Consistency and transparency are important to me as a consumer and I hope the next time I don’t run into this. Parking is plenty The location is spacious with plenty of room for families, children, and those who use wheelchairs.
Kareem H — Google review
**updated review* - city BBQ followed through with making right by a customer. We did not go back to this location but since the company comp'd my husband, he grabbed some take out from Gahanna location and it was quality. I added the second picture for comparison. My husband ordered pickup and said it was extra to get me brisket. See photo for said brisket. It's also as cold and dry as it looks. Yes, the cornbread was also cold and as dry as the desert. We won't be back.

I was looking forward to trying the new cobbler but was disappointed at the portion amount for the price of $4.99. I used to eat at city bbq often but have it rarely now. They used to give decent portions for cobbler to stretch over a few days. I know inflation is rough for all but this is quite the difference. Most likely won’t be back but the woman who helped me was very kind (:

My food was really good. And the smell of smoked BBQ when you walk in the door is amazing!

I went to City BBQ for Tuesday rib bones order 4 only got 3 very rude and you have to pay extra for over two pack of sauce glad I didn’t because I didn’t even have all my meat. Will not ever go again staying locally in Becley.

This was my 1st time at any City Barbeque. The food was pretty the workers were nice & friendly until I guess the owner or whomever she was showed up. From there everyone was still nice but, would not interact properly. Even the so called lady in charge wouldn't interact. The cashier remained human & was very helpful as she helped everyone, answered questions & was able to get everyone else to focus & start communicating.

The manager Robin there is amazing and very friendly! She loves to communicate and have fun with her customers creating a great atmosphere! Would recommend to family and friends

Hoggy's BBQ and Catering, a beloved Columbus establishment since 1991, brings the authentic flavors of Southern barbecue to its patrons. Located at 830 Bethel Road, this restaurant takes pride in preparing dishes from scratch using the freshest ingredients. The meats are meticulously seasoned and slow-smoked to perfection, resulting in a rich, smoky taste that embodies true Southern BBQ.
The food and service were very good. Since this was our first visit, we had some questions, and they helped up figure out what to order. But they were out of bbq ribs, chicken and turkey. They only had pulled pork and brisket. The pulled pork was excellent, and my husband liked his brisket. I had a mac bowl with pulled pork, pickled jalapeños, bread and butter pickles and red pickled onion. My husband had the two meat platter. We were both happy with our choices. With Kansas City sweet and spicy sauce. The corn muffins and butter were also really good!

Stopped on a whim during our travels and so glad we did!!! The food was top notch, we ordered the Grazer and shared it. Left completely overfull lol. My favorite part, the service. My 6 yo went up to the counter to get a spoon for her pudding and they treated her with respect and kindness. It was amazing! Highly recommend the food and service here

Stopped in after craving their brisket for a couple years. Unfortunately they were sold out which is understandable. Dillion, Fender, amd the crew were great with helping choose something else. The wings were huge and on point. The Kentucky bourbon sauce was great tasting. Now the cheesy potatoes were the best I've ever had. Just make a note to come early cause the food is so good it sells out quickly.
Pullingtrucker — Google review
haven't had meat sweats from BBQ in quite some time. I have been seeing this place on tik tok for a while. So when I saw how close I was to it this afternoon, I had to stop. I only planned on trying their wings. But upon the smell hitting me when I opened the door, which by the way says open until 8pm or sold out, I decided to try a little more. Normally I would rate a BBQ spot on everything but their pulled pork. They almost never stand out from one place to the next. Well this place is the exception. Because it was probably some of the best I had ever eaten. The way they manage to get the pork fat to render down makes for the most succulent and swinely divine. From there I tackled the wings, with bites of brisket and Mac n cheese, in between it all. Had their bourbon bbq sauce on the wings and tried their original and Cincinnati sweet on the other meats. The staff was friendly and took a real sense of pride in knowing they were serving such a good meal.

I'm a big supporter of Hoggys and I love their innovation and trying to reinvent themselves all the time. Today's visit was a miss food wise. First of all, such great service and staff. Changes they have made, Caesar slaw? Sorry a big miss for me, please bring back the old slaw. Broccoli salad was also a big miss and was one of my favorite sides that they used to have. The biggest disappointment today was the fact that I thought I was getting pulled chicken. Maybe it was a miscommunication or maybe the old pulled chicken is gone but the smoked chicken was unfortunately super dry. Brisket was good as always as well as the pork. Came here today because I was super hungry and really wanted a great meal but was a little disappointed because of the changes.
Kirby H — Google review
Was hard to choose as everything looked amazing. Bbq done right. Every little detail hit spot on. Went with Mac and cheese bowl and may have been the best Mac and cheese I’ve had. Owner came out and chatted while he helped clean tables. I can’t wait to go back and try something else

Great food great atmosphere this is our first time with 8 of us total the staff was very patient with us and answered every question we had also made some great recommendations if your looking for smack to momma BBQ this is your place

We had Hoggy's cater our welcome dinner for our son's wedding. The pulled pork, chicken, and brisket were all delicious. One reason we chose Hoggy's was that they had some different sides-cheesy potatoes (my GF son couldnt eat mac n cheese) and their cole slaw was marinated in Caesar dressing. The employee who delivered our food was very friendly. Since he got to our venue early, he offered to help up pull some tables out of our car and set up (The venue's tables were mostly hightops so we brought in folding tables for BBQ setup). I would definitely recommend Hoggy's for a big family event. We had extra food leftover and it was just as delicious warmed over for lunch for our relatives the next day .

Nestled in the heart of Columbus, The Pit BBQ Grille and Catering on High Street is a delightful spot that feels like a cozy backyard cookout with friends. This inviting eatery was born from a desire to give back to the community, making it not just a restaurant but an experience you won't want to miss. With friendly staff and ample patio seating, it's perfect for enjoying delicious barbecue dishes.
Service was great, love the patio dining option out front. Food quality was great. Portions sizes also were aplenty when it came to sides. Very please with our shared 3 meat platter. Got pulled pork, beef brisket and the wings with Mac and cheese and beans as sides. Everything was tasty! Parking in the back of the plaza is also convenient.

The first thing I love about this place is the friendliness of the staff. This was our first experience. The food is wonderful!!! Since I don’t eat pork. Even though it’s BBQ style I still had a lot of beef options. Ribs, Sausage to Brisket. The slaw is on another level. “Kale slaw” I love kale, but I don’t do slaw unless I make it from scratch. Overall 👍🏽👍🏽

Used to visit their Northern Lights location when it was open. Glad they opened a location relatively close. The brisket sandwich with side of greens is my go-to item here. Both are done perfectly for me. I think they are so much better than the City guys and the Smokey guys. Keep up the good work!

I ordered the signature bowl, not bad. The fat of the pork is really juicy while the meat is a little thick. The salad has too much ranch which affect the meat taste. Anyway the service is good and the price is reasonable.
Vincent L — Google review
Tasty, but it's overpriced for the portion size. The bowl is no longer $10, but $14 (which differs from the menu picture I found on Google). Staff wasn't very friendly, and was talking on the phone when she brought our food over. Overall, it was alright, but we won't be back.

Get the Pit Bowl with brisket. Very good & plenty. Ask for sauce on the side as it can be overpowering. Busy on weekends. Gives ray ray's some serious competion!
Trici D — Google review
This place has a lot going for it. Friendly staff, great location, and outside seating. The sides are good. I particularly liked the Mac and Cheese. The pulled pork was fine. The chicken was also fine. The brisket was not great, sadly. I would have preferred sauce on the side. But not a waste of your time.

Delicious! Great value. My husband and I split the sampler for $20 and had leftovers. Our choice of 3 meats and 2 sides and cornbread. The brisket and pulled pork were delicious. We also got the rib tips. I’ve never had them before so I didn’t know what to expect. They were okay. We got Mac & Cheese and greens and both were delicious!

Came up on this place by accident while looking for another food spot. So glad we did. Great BBQ and great prices. We got the ribs and brisket. Guy at the order window was cool and helpful. We will definitely come back again.

Stopped by today for some ribs. They have 5 bones and two sides for $10. Where do you go and get that type of deal. The ribs were nice and tender with a small amount of smoke on them, I ordered them with the spicy sauce which has a fair amount of heat to it. Also got baked beans and Mac n cheese. The beans have a little sweetness to them, they use bits of crunchy peppers in them. Good stuff. The Mac n cheese is made with small elbow macaroni, cheese is nice and thick. Everyone that works here is super friendly. Give great recommendations on their food.

My friend told me about this place, so today I decided to check it out. The owner was working the order window and his service was AWESOME! I ordered a burnt ends meal with mac and greens. I also purchased a rib meal with the same side dishes. The meat and greens were cooked perfectly! I didn't care for the mac and cheese too much. It didn't taste bad I just didn't like the seasoning used in it. I recommend giving this place a try. You won't be sorry!

5 stars is reserved for home cooking. But this is some really good BQ! Meets tenders and got good flavor, sauce is unique and I like it, mac n cheese and beans are great, potatoe salad and cole slaw are average. $25 to sample almost everything. Overall, very pleased, would recommend!

Bread pudding, brisket and burnt ends is how you say I love you in bbq. These folks know what they're doing. Quick friendly service, the food is made with love. The different sauces are great, mac & cheese, baked beans and greens are on point. For a $10 it fills you up and you have a little for later. Thanks Red Door BBQ Franklinton ❤

Off the path and worth the travel! Let me first start by saying, prior to having Red Door BBQ, if someone would've asked me "where the best bbq in Columbus is" I would've said Smoked on High, Ray Ray's, and Legacy. Today's experience was one for the ages, I went around 230pm, no line, ordered my food, owner chatted me up while he prepared. I got 2 platter meals and 1lb of burnt ends. Let me just say, these burnt ends were the absolute best I've ever had. I got a pulled pork platter with baked beans and mac & cheese. The pulled pork was solid, of course the bun got soggy from the moisture but that's ok, the meat was what we wanted. The baked beans had a nice kick but not too much. Mac & Cheese no disappointment there. Brisket platter had pasta salad and potato salad. The brisket was phenomenal! The pasta salad freaking AMAZING! and the potato salad was a solid mustard base potato salad. The owner told me that Red Door BBQ has been open for 4 years now, he loves what he does and he's proud of it, as he should be! When I left, I said "I hope it's great so I'll be back" He said "You'll be back!" and he's right! I will most certainly be back! The burnt ends alone are enough to give this the top spot on my list of Cbus BBQ! I got a lot of leftovers but I tried everything, I'll be back soon to try what I didn't today!

Great little pop up in Franklinton, close to downtown and offer call ahead orders for lunch. Had the brisket, cole slaw and baked beans. Serving size on all was more then I was expecting and the brisket was quite tender. On top of being great BBQ these guys are doing great work in an area of town that really needs it. Go check them out!

Delicious ribs! Huge! Fall off the bone! The sauce is so good! The ribs are all I’ve had so far, so I’ll be back to try the other food! I don’t understand the negative reviews, these ribs are definitely smoked and they pulled my rack straight off of the smoker! The guys working were so nice! We had good conversation while waiting for my order up. I could smell the smoker all weekend from my nearby home, finally stopped in for Sunday dinner and my only disappointment was that most everything was sold out by the time I went!

Been trying to check these guys out for a while, finally made it there today. Met up with Josh the owner. Super nice guy. Has a huge smoker on site. Been the owner for around 3 years. Decided to order some rib tips with half the order with spicy sauce and half with sweet sauce. Both were excellent, the spicy just a bit of heat to it. The sweet was actually my favorite, perfect taste. Also ordered some coleslaw which was excellent, nice fresh fixings, it had a nice blend of celery seeds with the greens, and a sweet and sort of sour sauce to it. Really tasty. On to the finale, Mac and cheese, super creamy with a great blend of cheese. It was so tasty. OMG!!! And how much did he pay to get it to snow while I was there?? LOL!! Get out and check this small business out.
MRBARBQ 1 — Google review
I don't know what happened but I had a bad batch of food. The brisket was ashy hard overcooked and chewy. The pulled pork wasn't even pulled. It look like he struggled to pull it apart so it was just chucks of meat. Wasnt tender at all. The beans were ok but it tasted like he used some type of curry or indian seasoning. The rib tips were very tender but was not satisfied with the sauce in my opinion. The coleslaw was flavorful. I don't think I'm coming back or maybe that just wasn't his day. You can see in the picture how the brisket is chopped and the "pulled" pork was presented. I feel bad because the owner was really nice.

Then it was over once I tasted the BRISKET I had to get the sandwich heavy on the sauce. He will see me again

They have a tendency not to be open either during the times or days posted🤦🏾‍♀️ This particularly day is Sunday 8/6/23. I knew this of them so I tried calling before driving from the North West side of town to the East side of town. However, no answer I said to myself I know the line is long often I'm just going to go on over. The picture is of the empty space the pit usually sits.
Khaleesi D — Google review
The staff is very kind!! They gave us a generous amount of food for just getting a brisket sandwich with Mac and cheese. However, half of it was inedible :( it was just entirely fat, so I couldn't chew it at all. Idk if I just got unlucky and got a bad cut or what. The Mac and cheese was some of the best I ever had, however, some of it was so burnt that it was also inedible. I want to give them another chance, so my rating may change
Shelby H — Google review
So disappointed. The potatoe salad taste like is has fermented. The brisket was hard to chew and the ribs were burnt and salty. I'm so hurt by this experience. A full slab is $32 with no sides. They were out of greens and mac n cheese. They are too expensive for my budget. I seldom do reviews but they need to know so that they can improve.

Where do I start 😂 cool location with a nice patio and bar area. Easily some of the best smoked chicken wings I’ve had in Columbus (and I’ve tried many). The flavor was amazing and the brine process kept the wings very moist. Kansas City bbq and Carolina gold didn’t wow me but will try other sauces next time. The brisket nachos were awesome! Beer cheese tasted great and the salsa too. Topping coverage could have been a little better. Easily top 10 in Columbus. Good selection of house brews and the house pineapple ipa I had great flavor. Next time I’ll try the stout. Our hostess was super friendly but our waitress must have been having an off day. Also not her fault, but the kitchen halved our wing order somehow. Probably the only fault of the whole experience. A good try after trying Barleys for the first time given the previous ownership connection (exceptional service through and through at Barleys haha). Definitely worth the drive!

5/5 on all fronts: taste, dining experience, price Had the cured and smoked pastrami sandwich with coleslaw. Man was this a treat. The beef brine came through on the palette, and the Swiss cheese complemented the smoky zest. The establishment was cool, clean and the outdoor patio was spacious. Next time I will enjoy a brew outside. The service was attentive and in good mood.

We like to visit this establishment when we get over to this area. Food is usually good and the beer always hits the spot. Unfortunately they seem to be down on staff so this particular visit wasn’t great. But that’s everywhere so I can’t really hold that against them. I had the baby back ribs with Mac and cheese and tots and my husband had the meat loaf. Tots were over cooked and hard in the middle, my husbands green beans were cold and cold water squirted out of them when you would bite them. Stick to the pub grub and you will be happy. I recommend the sauerkraut balls…yum!! Give them a try if you are in the area.

Great lunch today! I ordered the smokehouse classic salad with brisket - it was delicious and huge! My friend got a burger that looked amazing. Our server was so friendly!

Located just south of Grandview, Smokehouse Brewing Company is a bar & grill with a sizeable menu, a full bar, and even a private room for small events. Most of the menu items are designed to pair with specific types of drinks (usually with a reference to said pairing), and the staff is exceptionally prompt and friendly. There isn't much around it in the way of shops, and the location doesn't cater to those without their own transportation, but it is certainly worth the trip if you're looking for an above-average, bar & grill experience. The good: exceptionally friendly staff. The food and service are excellent. The bad: staffing shortages since the pandemic (though the staff and management are great). A pinch pricey (but worth it). The back room is available for small events, including D&D (I've played it here on multiple occasions), and the staff is VERY friendly and accommodating. If I could give it 4.5 stars, I would.

Wow, what an experience, start to finish. We were waitied on Latyce who was more than willing to bring out samples for us to find the right beers. (Fantastic) Our cocktails had depth of flavor. But the food. Wow. Wowowow. We ordered almost ever sauce, apps galore and 2 main entrées. Flavor was out of this world good. No lie, best Jamaican Jerk sauce I've ever had. Wings should be the #1 best in town. Inferno sandwich is something to brag about. Long story short, 11/10 would come back.

Breakfast restaurant
Iron Grill BBQ & Brew is a rustic establishment known for its slow-cooked meats and renowned hand-pulled pork. The restaurant takes pride in offering succulent barbecue, slicing their meats to order and smoking them for extensive periods with hardwoods. They only use seasoned rubs and refrain from using sauce, ensuring maximum moisture in every bite.
We had a great first time experience in Iron Grill BBQ & Diner! We ordered the fried calamari and they were good. The baby back ribs were delicious too (see pic!), maybe more sauce would have been good; but that’s subjective. The owner (I wish I got his name) was very nice and welcoming. They also gave us a deliciously sweet free dessert at the end. The service was good too. Overall recommended!

Lovely service with a friendly cat that hangs around outside. If you're lucky, she'll stop by! We had a large group and got seated right away on the patio, the service was quick and friendly. The Ribs were delicious, the half chicken was cooked to fall apart tender, and the pulled pork was tender and well seasoned. Good selection of sides and breakfast offerings as well.

Our family had a small gathering at the Iron Grill because it was near a family member’s house. I don’t like leaving poor reviews, but our choice to gather at the Iron Grill was a poor one, and apologies were shared. I’ll limit my comments to my meal, and not add critique offered by other family members. I ordered the brisket sandwich, and it was not very good. Frankly, it wasn’t edible. Good brisket should melt in your mouth. It should cut with a fork easily and be juicy. This was stringy and tough, and didn’t even taste good. I left most of my sandwich uneaten. The French fries were pretty good though, and I ate those. If you like fries, then this place seems okay. Otherwise, look elsewhere. If you do eat here, try something other than the brisket.

Me wife, daughter and I stopped by the Pig Iron on a cold snowy Friday evening. I haven't been here in 10 plus years, but looked at the menu online and decided to give it go. We got the Rueben eggrolls, which were delicious and had plenty of filling. We were pleasantly surprised. I got a plain cheese pizza which was light, tasty and not bready. We tyred the BBQ wings and Buffalo wings which were good. My wife didn't care for the buffalo sauce, but everybody taste buds are different My daughter tryed the Soutwest burger which was huge with an egg in top. Andwe lived the type of French fries they have. The food was great. I only had one small issue with her alcoholic drinks. I believe the pineapple may have mold in or around the top. I went to mix my pineapple with the tequila and noticed black particle floating at the top. The server quickly replaced my drink with another one. I would give them 4.5 stars if I could. The atmosphere was great and inviting.

We ate lunch here yesterday. The service and environment were both great. They have a large menu with lots of options other than just bbq. The food was decent. I had the brisket sandwich and fries. We also share some wings. The wings were very small. The brisket was just ok.

Came in with my husband for a late dinner (8pm). The service was phenomenal, food was delicious we tried multiple different items aps, and menu items. We raced to our server how great everything was, and that we hadn’t been here in a few years. She then shared that the restaurant is under new ownership the last two years, and that they have been making positive changes. Every staff member was pleasant, the menu changes, the food, and the service was a 10/10. And was leaps and bounds better than the last time we were here. We will be back!

Located at Creekside-Gahanna, it offers an array of dishes from sandwiches to salads, all made with authentic BBQ smoked daily with shagbark hickory or cherry wood. The restaurant is known for its delectable food and refreshing alcoholic beverages.
Barrel and boar was an unexpected find!!! The brisket so so flavorful and delicious, mashed potatoes creamy and fresh. I had a margarita as well. Live music playing. Incredible atmosphere. Nice comfortable spot on the patio with an amazing view of a fountain. Had a little wait time during to it being homecoming but plenty to keep you busy while waiting.

We chose Barrel and Boar for my son’s rehearsal dinner which took place last Friday night. We’re so glad we did. From start to finish, the process was easy. This was especially important to me since I was planning the rehearsal distance from afar - in Franklin, Tennessee. The interior space is casual and tasteful. Melissa handled all my email inquiries and was prompt with her thorough responses. We had 47 guests who fit perfectly in the back portion of the restaurant which overlooks the patio. The food was outstanding. Everything was delicious. We opted for pulled chicken, brisket, brussels sprouts, and their beautiful goat cheese salad. Melissa kindly worked with us to offer alcoholic beverages within reason. Coryn and Sunni were the servers for our party, and they couldn’t have been more pleasant and accommodating. The whole experience was a relaxed and happy addition to our glorious wedding weekend. Melissa allowed me to set up for the event on Friday at 11am, which was a big help since we had to be back in the area at 4pm for the rehearsal at Gahanna Sanctuary, the wedding venue. I have nothing but positive things to say about Melissa l, Coryn, Sunni, the chefs, and the entire staff at Barrel and Boar. It was a fabulous, turnkey experience, and we even ended up with leftovers to enjoy!

What I was expecting was very different than the actual food after receiving my plate. This restaurant is the beginning of fancy and mildly pricey. With that being said, both plates of food, and refreshing alcoholic beverages, were phenomenal. I got the BBQ mac and cheese. You can choose what protein you desire from a few different meats. I got brisket burnt ends. Creamy sauce, tasty tender beef, kinda sweet sauce drizzled on top was a nice compliment. I can not wait to try something else.

We went to Barrel and Boar for Valentine’s Day. They had a three course offering for $38/person that included a salad, a main entree and a dessert. I ordered the sirloin steak and had a huge slice of cheesecake for dessert- it was wonderful! The starter salad was a little small but I think it was actually appropriately sized, we are just used to outrageous American portions as the “norm”. Our waitress was lovely and was very attentive without being overbearing… And all of that is second to the atmosphere- they were completely booked out, but the inside of the dining room was not cramped or crowded feeling. Plenty of space between tables to make the dinner feel intimate and ambient. All in all, a wonderful Valentine’s experience!

Good food. My parents loved the ribs and my daughter loved the chicken tenders. I thought the loaded fries were a bit chalky and I was unimpressed with the chili. The waitstaff were very gracious and patient. They allowed us to bring in our own bday cake. They even kept it cool in the fridge. There was a bonfire burning outside, which was very peaceful.

Great food, great service, great atmosphere! Located in Creekside Plaza, with plenty of outside seating by a fountain and the creek. Legacy Smokehouse is a gem that started as a food truck in an abandoned parking lot and has now found its home in Hilliard. The traditional Central Texas-style barbecue they offer has garnered rave reviews, with patrons praising the mouthwatering brisket, outstanding pork, and delicious mac-n-cheese. Customers have also lauded their catering services for events like weddings, highlighting the helpful staff and delectable food.
Awesome place! We got takeout, had the chopped chicken sandwich and another sandwich with a couple of different meats (two step sandwich). Sides were great, corn super unique, had green beans as well as pit beans. Awesome taste, quality food. Good service and the atmosphere was great. Cute place with roadside parking.

Legacy Smokehouse had some tasty BBQ. It was very solid, if you are in the mood for BBQ and are close by I would stop in. I was seated quickly and the food came out extremely fast. Everything I ordered was above average and pretty good for a BBQ spot in Ohio.
JoNo X — Google review
The Columbus area definitely needs more places like Legacy Smokehouse. We've passed this place likely hundreds of times, but never stopped in to dine until recently. And I am so glad we did! The service was great, but the food was even better. Being first time patrons, the sampler was recommended for us to try. It consisted of pulled pork, smoked sausage, brisket, and the self proclaimed 'best smoked turkey' in Columbus. I can neither confirm nor deny that claim, even though it was really good. 🙂 My only negatives are not even really negatives, but they were out of ribs, both the beef and pork. That's really why we decided to visit in the first place, so that was a bummer. Second, after ordering, the food came out very fast, almost too fast because the food wasn't as hot as it could've been, which I feel effected the flavor some. But again, minor issues. Overall, Legacy Smokehouse is an excellent choice for BBQ. We will definitely be visiting again, and I recommend you give them a try as well.
Carielle R — Google review
The Legacy Smokehouse in Hilliard is a treat to dine at. From 11-3 on Fridays, there's a lunch special offering a choice of meat (turkey, brisket, or pulled pork) and a side dish with drink for $12-$14. I went with the sought after beef brisket, as a sandwich. Complimenting this was the Tex-Mex street corn. Yes, and yes was the beef brisket both exemplary of the 6' cook time, but it's TX style seasoning (pepper, kosher salt, garlic powder) true to the taste. The fat portions were superb in texture. As a comparison, it's very similar to Smoked On High BBQ and Hank's BBQ. Hard to say with certainty which had better overall flavor for the beef brisket. Returning next month!
Daran T — Google review
Got a range of options but mostly in for the brisket. Only place that we have found locally that does brisket right. Food was hot and the burnt ends of the brisket are delicious. No complaints. Service is fantastic. Consumed too quickly to remember to take a photo. The folks are always polite.

I went to try the ribs... they were out. They did have beef ribs. They were melt in your mouth fantastic. This is just my preference... but I prefer full service if I spent $35+ on a meal. A real knife and fork instead of plastic would have been great. I will return to try my menu items!

My partner and I took my son today to celebrate his new driver's license. The staff were welcoming and friendly, explaining our options and making suggestions. We ALL loved every bit of the food. My son said it's the best pulled pork he's ever had and my guy said the bbribs were delicious. The baked beans and macaroni and cheese also received very high marks. I had the beef brisket on the mac and cheese and tried 5 of their distinct and delicious sauces. They're all so good! The restaurant is clean, bright and cheerful and the BBQ is next level. We'll be back for sure!!

Brisket and ribs! Brisket (point) was decently tender but a little dry. Great pepper taste but could be seasoned more. Pork ribs were great, smokey and fall off the bone. Bonus points for understanding my request for brisket point. Atmosphere was fantastic, with rooftop patio and outdoor seating in a quaint old building feel. Recommended.

City Barbeque is a delightful counter-serve smokehouse chain that brings the essence of classic barbecue to life in a warm and inviting atmosphere. Known for its award-winning, competition-level barbecue, City Barbecue takes pride in slow-smoking their meats on-site over hickory wood, which imparts a rich and subtle flavor. Their St. Louis-cut pork ribs are particularly noteworthy; they’re designed to be 'bite off the bone,' showcasing the high standards typically seen in BBQ competitions.
Had a fantastic experience here with Barry at the counter. He was kind and explained the menu well. He even knew the artist on my shirt. The restaurant was clean, food was hot, fresh, and a good value. I much preferred the regular size sides with extra sides. The collards were perfect as well as the gluten-free french fries! My meat was not too fatty and the sausage was one of the best I’ve had!

At $20 per person, the restaurant manages to combine portion size with quality - the $24 Neil's Set Meal is big enough for two. The team led by veteran Agar is the highlight, with Kesha and Monty serving like old friends, and even the placement of the sauce bottles showing the tacit understanding of a decade of experience. The cornbread is a little dry, but in the air of wall-to-wall photos of regulars and blues music, this regret instantly melts away as part of the rugged American flavor!

Went with a group of friends. Been to various City BBQ locations lots of times. This one is conveniently close to the nearby Glow Putt. Overall a very good experience. Main negative was that my brisket was cool/room temp. But the beans were good and heated. Others said their chicken was plenty warm enough, if not hot. Our table needed cleaning, and the one trash bin near us was overflowing, but someone did empty it while we were there. Plenty of tables and no wait for that, but there was a line to order and took a few minutes but moved quickly. Overall the food was good and the place was pretty clean and well kept. I'd recommend going and would go again myself.

The pulled pork here is amazing, and their portions are very filling. The banana pudding, while adorable little pricey, was worth every penny. Scrumptious! I love their sweet BBQ sauce. Makes my mouth water to think about it!

Our office orders from here at least twice a week. The staff is always polite and friendly and the store is always super clean. Agar Wolde is the sweetest! She always goes above and beyond to keep everything orderly and running smoothly. Our orders are always 100% accurate. Best ice tea ever and thanks for having Pepsi products!! Love, love, love your food. When are you bringing the smoked salmon back! ??? Delicious!!!

This place didn't disappoint, went up to the counter asked if they had a paper menu so I didn't have to stare over the counter while they waited me. I Ordered the Cowbell (Brisket), the Nashville Chicken Sandwich, Fried Pickle basket, Creamy Coleslaw, and I got one bottle of original barbecue sauce to take home. The Fried pickles: were thick cut with the breading on the thin side. And the 4oz of Chipotle Ranch was plenty to dip all my Fried Pickles. 💯 The Nashville Chicken: had a thick piece of chicken that seams that it would be difficult to cook all the way through. Here thay cooked it to perfection! There was Coleslaw on it, which was a surprise to me. I did ordered Coleslaw for a side. Just in case. 😋 The Cowbell: hit me like never before with the horseradish or some kind of wasabi based sauce. Opening my sinuses. Idk if that's what there going for but I would definitely order it again the same exact way. It was on soft and seasoned Texas toast cut in half. 🔥 💥 The Coleslaw: I'm someone who like it drowning. It was to dry for my liking at least on top, towards the bottom it was perfect. 👌 The City Barbeque: My predictions is it's going to be a hit! I love my BBQ sauces.

Where I’m from we have a place called Mission barbecue and city barbecue was so great and felt so familiar to Mission barbecue that I immediately fell in love with this place. The same smell similar atmosphere minus the first responders and military decor. But all in all the food was great. Their brisket is melt in your mouth! Their mac & cheese is good and tasty and I really enjoyed the collard greens. I can see why so many people flock to this place!

Pecan Penny's is a modern space with a fire pit and patio seating, making it a great spot for families. While there isn't a specific kids menu, the relaxed atmosphere and delicious mac and cheese make it kid-friendly. The Downtown Sampler offers a variety of BBQ options to share among the family. The restaurant is known for its brisket, whole chicken, pulled pork, ribs, and smoked wings. Despite slightly higher prices, the food is good and the service is friendly and attentive.
This was a fun atmosphere. It was very well lit and lively, and I can’t wait till the summer comes to have the garage doors open to the patio, which just makes the capacity so much better and a great place for outdoor dining! The food was quick, hot and delicious!

The atmosphere and service was great. The brisket was amazing and soft. I don’t care for the Mac and Cheese. The greens were warm and not hot. But we’re tender. My wife salad looked amazing and enjoyed it. I believe this is great way to take a load off if your downtown Columbus.

Solid 3.5 Pretzels &cheese- 4.5/5 crispy soft, perfect salt and butter ratio perfect. Sauces • G daddy- good • Kurt- good, but very watery • Hot grandpa- good not spicy at all, maybe a little twang. Bowl- grits, greens, brisket, jalepeno, cornbread croutons -4/5 portions could have been a little bit bigger. Highlighted the greens being very good. Secondary no greens and green beans are both made with pork. Wings (extra dry rub seasoning)- 3/5 cooked good, but we requested well done. Flavor just okay. Burnt ends- 2/5 not burnt at all. Very fatty chewy. Used to crispy caramelized burnt ends, these were just Ends.. Onion rings/fries- 4/5 nothing crazy meets the need Hush puppies- 4/5 good Cole slaw 3/5 Texas Toast 4/5 Manhattan 3/5 Overall a nice local spot for barbecue. Not slap ya mama good.. but the casual environment -dog friendly patio with games & good service definitely makes it worth returning to for a quick bite or Night out with family.

I first want to say that I have had the BBQ here, and I really enjoyed it, but I didn't snag any pictures of it. I had the pulled pork and we also ordered the wings and both were very good! I really like the G daddy sauce and I love the mustard based sauce on everything. Is this the best BBQ you're ever gonna have? No. However, they offer up a big variety of dishes, and all of them are solid meals and have great flavor. BBQ is a decisive food because people are always looking for the BEST BBQ and imo they set the bar way too high. You can tell they put care into their food and it tastes great. The vibe is good, they have great happy hr specials and good daily specials. They have a great patio for hanging on a nice day and they offer a large selection of drinks. I still haven't had a dessert from here but that is next on my things to try. I will update photos with my next visit because I plan on trying the ribs and definitely the banana pudding.

Really good value for money. Brisket particularly tasty! Husband and I shared the mixed platter. Loved the mashed potato and Texas toast. Kids meals very generous portions and we loved the funnel cake fries. Had never had these before and were very good. Great service and nice they had some games to play there too.

Laid-back vibes, incredible service, and top-notch hospitality I stopped into Pecan Penny’s about 30 minutes before closing, fully expecting to be turned away or rushed — but the experience was the exact opposite. The bartender welcomed us without hesitation and assured us there was still plenty of time to enjoy a meal, as long as we didn’t mind them starting some light cleanup while we were there. From the moment we sat down, we were treated like regulars. The bartender was friendly, attentive, and incredibly helpful in walking us through the menu and suggesting the best food pairings. His recommendations hit the spot, and we had a great time chatting throughout the evening. Despite the late hour, there was no sense of being hurried or unwelcome — just genuine hospitality and a relaxed, inviting atmosphere. It honestly felt like hanging out at a friend’s place who just happens to serve really good barbecue. I left wishing this place was in my hometown — it would easily become a weekend staple for me. If you’re in the area and want great food and even better service, do yourself a favor and stop in at Pecan Penny’s.

BBQ Alley by OD on BBQ is a hidden gem that offers classic barbecue and sides, served from both a restaurant and a food truck. The owner takes pride in discussing the business and products with customers. The brisket is particularly recommended for its smooth smoky flavor and moist texture, while the sides like corn pudding offer unique twists to traditional recipes. Visitors appreciate the friendly service and generous portions, making it a convenient stop for delicious barbecue in Columbus, OH.
First time here. Friendly. Husband and I are super pleased with the food I picked up. Glad we didn't listen to previous reviews about the sides..hey, not all recipes are to everyone's taste. We got the tips, mac n cheese, mixed greens, cornbread and pickles. Great portions. Great recipe. We'll be back. Convenient location since we can get our free Ricart carwash while there. Thanks.

The Sandwich was pretty good but the sides weren't for me. I may go back to try the ribs, due to them opening late, the ribs weren't going to be done for another hour.

I just heard of this hidden gem. I am really glad I did not read the Google reviews because I probably would not have stopped. My experience was good. I had the rib tips, greens and slaw The tips flavor was delicious. The greens were very good. The coleslaw had good flavor, I prefer it chopped smaller but other than that it was good.
Ed D — Google review
This place was quite the disappointment. My wife and I got the gas and go brisket mac and cheese bowl, sides of potato salad, mixed greens, and baked beans along with cornbread. Both the brisket and mac and cheese were bland and mushy. The potato salad and mixed greens both had good flavor and were the best things we ordered. Probably won't be ordering from here again.

Stopped by OD today. Hadn't been there in probably 3 or 4 years. They have been in business for around 14 1/2 years. Just in the last month or so down the road from the original location. The owner is super nice and willing to take the time to discuss the business and his products. I ordered the brisket which had a great smooth smoky taste, plenty moist which is pretty rare. Ordered plenty of sides. Corn pudding which was different from any other I had tried. It was more of a thinner base to it. Red skin potato salad which had tons of fresh vegetables. Onion, celery, hard boiled egg, tasted so fresh in comparison to other dressings. Mac n cheese which was made with cheddar cheese, not baked with panko bread crumbs on top. Yummy!! Also got Greens which had a sweet vinegar taste, mixed with pieces of pork. To die for. Then there were the baked beans, totally homemade starting with the beans, a little bigger than normal beans. Had chopped onion, pork in them. A thick tomato based sauce. Oh my goodness, delicious. Definitely will be back.

I’m not sure what happened but someone forgot to bake the Corn Pudding 🤢 The Mac & Cheese is different, not sure what the cheeses are. The Rib Tips were very flavorful. I hate to say it but the pickles were the best thing on the plate 🤷🏽‍♀️ This isn’t the same food I had here a year or so ago. I wish I liked it more seeing there’s not many BBQ places around here.

STAY AWAY. THE RIBS WAS DRY AND CRUNCHY. THE SWEET BBQ SAUCE WAS SOUR, THE BAKE BEANS WAS ALL OVER THE PLACE AND THE MAC AND CHEESE WAS DISGUSTING. I WILL NOT ASK FOR MY MONEY BACK AND HOPE THEY USE IT TO FIND A NEW LINE OF WORK.

Very disappointed in this food truck. We picked up dinner on a rainy Thursday evening. No other cars there and the kitchen was nasty. Nothing swept up. The counter was disgusting. We bought 2 brisket dinners. Neither one was even room temperature. I used to love their BBQ. We won't be back. I'm not sure when cleanliness took a back seat. They had a solid menu and great food. Not anymore.

Absolutely wonderful! We would eat here again. The restaurant environment is so homey feeling. We loved the Christmas decorations. The haddock, home fries, french fries, coleslaw (sweet), RIBS, pulled pork sandwich, french onion soup, Mac and cheese, and corn nuggets were all incredible! 🤌🏻 They've got these recipes down, and maybe a little salt and pepper here and there. Our server was so sweet and did a great job dealing with all of us!

The ribs cooked in a pressure cooker, then put on a gas grill( i could taste the propane), the mini pull pork slider was old and dried out, the chicken breast only thing worth a damn on the plate The bake potato and bread was good. The salad was a pleasant surprise.

Well I'm sorry to say that my favorite restaurant Hickory House that I usually get Turkey Reubens from has lost its touch on making the Reubens that I have loved for years. A few years ago I stop going there before Covid because it's quality of food began to slip. Well after covid since I couldn't find a restaurant to match its taste I decided to give them another try since I heard they were under new management. To my surprise things started looking up except for the onion straws. Well I haven't ordered from them since June (Gahanna location) so I decided to get a turkey and found out they have closed permanently. So I decided to call and order it from the Reynoldsburg location. Once I got there I was welcome very nicely with a smile paid for my food then left because I was on my lunch break. Got back to work and since the sandwiches was such a decent length and cut 1/2 I shared it with a colleague. After sitting down to eat, I took a bite of my Reuben sandwich and all I tasted was sour kraut. Then I laid my sandwich down and opened it. There was only two slivers of turkey meat with tons of saurkraut on top of. I was so disappointed and unfortunately this will be my last try. I rarely eat at this location however, my first impression when it comes to Reubens are not impressive at all. I enclosed a picture of it. Sorry Hickory House unfortunately this will be my last meal with you. Please do better and God bless you on all your future restaurant endeavors.

This place sucked. Buddy ordered a sprite and it was flat, then he got lemonade that was flat too. He ordered shrimp with slaw and mashed potatoes they served his slaw before our food came out like it was an appetizer. We also ordered ribs to go. I ordered the submarine sandwich and it was charred to a crisp. Bread was literally inedible and cut the roof of my mouth it was so hard. Salt shaker didn’t work, salt was clogged up in the holes. Then we’re told they don’t accept our $5 coupon because we didn’t order “entrees” we get the bill only to see our to go order wasn’t on there. I wasn’t offered a single w. Waitress says she forgot but the ribs were ready they just gotta heat them up (uh what?) just forget it. So we left after paying $40 for garbage. What a joke. Will not be back.

Hank's Texas BBQ in Columbus, Ohio offers a unique barbecue experience that sets it apart from traditional southern BBQ joints. The chef utilizes authentic smokers and has mastered the art of creating mouthwatering dishes. Visitors rave about the ribs, pulled pork, smoked sausage, and brined chicken. The menu also includes a variety of appetizers and desserts. Guests praise the attentive service and recommend trying the brisket, poutine, wings, and cornbread while enjoying a cold draft beer.
Hands down the best bbq in Columbus! My wife and I have traveled all over the US and even lived in Texas for 4 months. Hanks beats 90% of the texas restaurants we went to! We often buy 4+ pounds of meat when we come here to eat throughout the week. Everything is seasoned perfectly and we have never once had any pieces of meat that were dry. A++
Aaron C — Google review
We ordered take-out without ordering ahead and the wait was about 5 minutes. Overall I would recommend and I would come back. We got 2 of the 2 meat plates and 1 pound of brisket and paid $72. At about $24/pp for good smoked meat I'd say not bad. The white bbq sauce is a winner. Brisket: 4/5 Very nice smoky flavor with nice bark. Some pieces were very fatty which was not great. Chicken (leg quarter): 4/5 Again very nice smoky flavor and extremely well seasoned! The pieces we got were a little one the older side, not necessarily the freshest piece of smoked meat. Corn bread: 5/5 HIGHLY recommend. It was so good we had to go back to get a couple more pieces. Tasted absolutely delicious. French fries: 5/5 they gave what a fry should give and they were hot and fresh Mac and cheese: 1/5 very underwhelming. I am not a person that thinks garlic powder belongs in Mac and cheese so this is not my cup of tea

2.5 Star for me. I have had a lot of BBQ in quite a few states. After a recent trip to western Texas I was looking for a closer to home option. The inside is more bar like- no meat in sight. There were 2-3 smokers out front. They were a bit understaffed but our waitress was cordial and had us seat ourselves. Their brisket was good- soft and not dry but not much bark. Small portion but Would definitely recommend. Also tried their jalapeño cheese brat- middle of the road flavor wise. Sides of mac and cheese and collard greens were mediocre at best. Sweet tea was from a fountain- if your a BBQ place you should have good homemade tea. We did try their corn cakes topped with pulled pork and slaw- I would definitely recommend it if you’re looking for a good appetizer or extra dish. Overall it wasn’t bad but just middle of the road- wouldn’t make a special trip to go back.

Absolutely love this place. Everyone is friendly, especially our server, Heather. She is a big reason I will be back. She was attentive, checked in on us frequently, but not too much and even noticed when my water cup was low😂🤣. The food was DELICIOUS 🤤🤤 I would highly recommend this restaurant. I had their salad with brisket.... best brisket I've had yet👀🥰

The food was amazing and the staff was super friendly! The atmosphere was nice and we were seated right away. I definitely recommend the BBqtery Board. The brisket was perfect and they're pickled veggies are so delicious. It was out first time here and we will definitely try to return when back in the area.

The very best BBQ in the city, there is not a close second to Hank's. We visit this place 20 plus times a year with our family of four and another family of 4. The atmosphere is simple but comfortable. Great drink selection. Unfortunately, the service has gone downhill over the past several months. Service used to be friendly, attentive, and engaging. They have had some turnover in the staff. The staff now doesn't care about good service. It's seems like they just don't care. Again it's a small place that doesn't get too busy. They just don't pay attention to you and are just not good servers. Too bad, hope it turns around. Even with the very poor service, we will keep going back. The brisket, Ribs and Birria tacos are exceptional! Please don't let change.

Well first it's really hard to find true barbecue in central Ohio especially if you've been to Memphis Texas St Louis and you've had all the great barbecue in the United States in North Carolina. Hanks is good and it might be as good as you're going to get in central Ohio their briskets were juicy and tender and it smells like a barbecue spot I've always said I don't go into barbecue spots if I can't smell it down the street now they said the loaded corn bread was supposed to be really dynamite in my opinion it was just okay it didn't have enough corn taste to it to really make me stop and say like this is great but it's just okay please remember I'm eating it all the best barbecue locations in the United States so for someone who might not have they might really like it however the brisket was good I will be going back to try more but they're brisket sandwich and brisket tacos or really tasty service was just okay we sat outside and we had to wait some time before someone came and served as even after we told him we're going to be sitting outside but I'm still going to try him again. The pitmaster cocktail is worthy of a try

This RayRays is a food truck with covered picnic table seating. The ribs and mac n cheese were great. The service was friendly and quick. We ate at the picnic tables. You can get drinks from the brewery across the parking lot and there is a big screen TV outside that was showing a European soccer match. I will say that we walked three blocks from COSI and the area felt a little sketchy.

Nice setup by a brewery (highlight of our meal, delicious cocktail and cider) but this review is about the food and the service. Burnt ribs, overcooked brisket, sausage, pulled pork, chicken... we ordered everything on the menu and couldn't eat any of it. This is not a serious place for good BBQ.
Joseph C — Google review
I ordered the brisket sandwich with Carolina vinegar sauce on the side, and waffle fries. The brisket was tender and juicy with a nice kissed smoky flavor. I could have used a touch more smoke, but that's coming from someone who really enjoys a lot of smoke flavor that others might find overwhelming. I actually preferred the sandwich without the sauce which I had ordered on the side. Thought that the brisket had enough great flavor on its own. Fries were crispy and delicious. Service was quick and friendly. Nice to have this in the land grant brewery lot while enjoying a beer.

I spent years living in Texas so I’m particular about my BBQ. The sandwich buns were great and actually held up. The brisket was a bit dry for my taste but pulled pork was delicious. The fries were also probably best I’ve had in Columbus (unexpected surprise) and the Mac and cheese was yummy.

Best bbq I've ever had. Would give 5 stars, but they shorted my dessert on 3 separate occasions this month. I know I should check the bag, but I'm always in a hurry because I park my truck in a no parking area near Land Grant Brewery. No parking for big trucks 😪 lost out on $18 worth of desserts. 1 Carrot, 1 peach a 1 banana pudding. Wish someone would answer the phone?

Texas Steele BBQ in Columbus, Ohio is a hidden gem that offers some of the best barbecue you'll ever taste. The brisket is incredibly flavorful with a perfect peppery bark and just the right amount of fat, while the ribs are tender and fall off the bone. Surprisingly, the braised oxtail was an unexpected delight. The meats are so delicious that they don't even need sauce.
Let's just say I DID NOT regret my decision to forgo my usual workday salad lunch for Texas Steele! I had the Mac Bowl with Brisket and a Cornbread Biscuit. The Mac and cheese was creamy and flavorful, the brisket was melt in your mouth tender, and the sauce gave it just the right tang and kick. The cornbread biscuit was drizzled with honey, moist throughout, and overall also delicious. The portion size was great for the price and the people were super friendly which I always appreciate! I will definitely be a returning customer!

I got the two meat plate (brisket and pulled pork with Mac and cheese). This is the best bbq I’ve ever had and I’ve had southern bbq many times. It’s so tender it falls apart. The sauce is amazing (sweet and spicy) but you don’t even need it. 10/10 go get some. They know what they’re doing.

My wife and I randomly tried this BBQ truck at Devil Wind Brewing yesterday, and I could not be happier about it. BBQ, particularly Texas style brisket, is one of my favorite foods, so I’m a little judgmental about quality. This stuff is the real deal. I asked the owner if I could take a look at the brisket before buying some and he kindly obliged with a sample for not only me but also my wife and kid. I know that would maybe ruffle feathers of some other BBQ’ers, but this guy was all class about it. And then he went out of his way to make us a brisket taco and gave us a side of his homemade pickled tomatillo sauce which is uniquely delicious. My wife says she would go there just to buy that sauce. This man’s hospitality and BBQ are top notch. We had a nice conversation with him about BBQ, kids, family life, and all the work that goes into that stuff. I can’t recommend this BBQ enough.
Adam S — Google review
This is the absolute best bbq place in Columbus (we have tried a lot of places over the years). As a fair warning, you will wait for the food (both to order and once ordered to be prepared/packed) but it’s worth it! We tried just about everything we could as a family, just to see how the food would be. We ended up getting: Meat: - 1 lb of brisket - pulled pork sandwich - Texas sausage - rack of short ribs Sides: - mac and cheese -brisket baked beans - potato salad Dessert: - 7 up cake - Coca Cola cake All sauces are home made and excellent. The brisket is perfectly seasoned. He even had us try his newest fully ground brisket burger, which was incredible. The pulled pork sandwich was tender and yummy. It didn’t require any sauce, but I tried it with the local Texas which was light and just enough to season without overwhelming the meat. The ribs fell off the bone. It was so good another family member who hadn’t planned on eating came in to grab one, then a few more! The sausage was well seasoned and tasty. The Mac and cheese had yummy spices as well as the potato salad. I absolutely loved the brisket baked beans which have multiple types of beans, bits of brisket that can be tasted and are not overwhelmingly saucy. And I cannot recommend enough picking up the cakes. You won’t regret it. The cocoa cola cake was just chocolatey enough without too much richness. The 7 up was my husband’s favorite as he liked the fruity flavor.

Barbecue restaurant
Rooks Tavern is a culinary gem that takes barbecue to new heights with its Argentine-style grill, where proteins and sides are expertly prepared. The menu, crafted by chef Aaron Mercier, showcases a smoky theme with standout dishes like Memphis-style spare ribs seasoned with an intriguing dry rub featuring mustard and spices. Beyond the delicious food, Rooks also excels in mixology, offering bourbon cocktails and draft beers that perfectly complement the meal.
Best BBQ in town hands down! Killer wings and ribs. Also, very accommodating to vegetarians and vegans.

This place will be great. I was met by an employee who was on his first day. "Work with me it's my first day." Service was fine and the trainee was helpful and engaging in banter. (We sat at the bar, me as a third wheel.) I had the Carolina pork sandwich, homie had a half slab. We both had a Rhingeist Truth IPA draught. The queso add pork was slap. The chips could have had less sodium. We each had a shelf select bourbon. His came with free dry aged heaven. Then the entrees, Rooks bbq is just that. BBQ that is new. This place will be a multi location columbus staple.

Awesome, friendly new hangout with some seriously great food. The space is very welcoming and comforting, with well spaced tables and great views of the open kitchen. The bar is well stocked with some nice specialty cocktails and a solid mix of local beers on tap. The star of the show though is the food. The barbeque is top notch with some of the best ribs I've ever eaten. The house pickles, cornbread and sauerkraut balls were some other favorites from the meal. Definitely an excellent new place to check out in Columbus!

The excellent dry rubbed meat the ribs were excellent. The atmosphere is cozy and rustic/modern. The service was great. We had so much fun sitting at the bar getting so much interesting from the staff. Have to have the swig and pig. Enjoy your self we did and look forward to going back.

Flavors are on point and the menu offers variety suitable to most budgets and diets.

Best new restaurant in Columbus. Creative menu, good service, and nice atmosphere. The cowboy cassoulet was excellent...make sure you add steak to your order to make it extra special. Ribs were on point. Will be back.

Had dinner here during a Christmas party and I have to say this is one is a newly minted gem. Being a party, we all kind of mixed and matched our selections, curiously slavering over our colleagues orders! No thing that I tried was less than amazing! For instance, the steak meal offering is much like the best that could be had in the highest end Peruvian and Argentinian steakhouses and reminded me very much of my erstwhile travels to such places. Food is cooked to a wide range of palettes, each rich and deep. Ingredients are of superlative quality. Our party had the honor of speaking with chef Aaron who co-owns this place. He was discussing the nature of his establishment with our party. His philosophy is to encourage a collaborative environment and his sous chefs are encouraged to add their own personal touches. It is in this too that I think this place has a solid future. Novelty and quality should be hallmarks of this tavern! The area of town it is in also telling. It is an area of town near the OSU campus that has a bit of a rough edge, but with a new additions such as Rooks, that area may be an anchor for much desired vitalization. TL:DR Rooks is a campus area ingenue that will stand the test of time. Delicious, succulent and varied! It is a must try. PS: Even though vegans and vegetarians can by rather enjoyably, Rooks is a carnivore's ball!

Great place, look, and staff. Waiter glaldy replaced our lukewarm coffee and gave us lots of time to look over menu and talk to him before ordering. The kitchen fell a bit short on delivery though. At least 3 mess ups with our orders, from wrong meat side order to missing egg on sandwich. Only one really a big deal but still. I'll try again sometime soon to give another chance but it was a meh first impression in the end.

Whether you opt for their tender ribs or crispy wings, each bite promises satisfaction.
Great service! I called in and asked for descriptions of the ribs and sauce. LyDell told me all about them. I placed my order and received hot delicious ribs! Just the way I like them. The wings were crispy and all flats. 🥰 I’ll be back soon!

Very disappointed..placed an order to surprise my Godmother for her birthday. And this is the outcome..burnt ribs, very disappointing..unable to call and speak to anyone because the voicemail picks right up stating the mailbox is full. I don’t live in Ohio and placed the order via Uber Eats but this will definitely not be on the list of places to eat when I do visit.

This was the best food I have had in a long time. Our Food was fresh, hot, and delicious. I would recommend anyone to stop at Smoky bones in Columbus at 1286 Essex for a Togo plate for you and your family, it’s truly something that you will remember!! Thanks for the delicious food!!!!

Placed an order through Uber eats and they basically put what they wanted in my order. I ordered the create your own 3 meats with ribs, wings and chicken breast with Cole slaw and baked beans. I got burnt ribs, a sausage (instead of chicken breast), mac and cheese (instead of Cole slaw). I called and called someone kept picking up the phone and hanging up or it would ring and ring going to voicemail which was full. I don't recommend ordering from them.

I had the best experience with Mr. Lydell he had my order perfect. I couldn't believe the difference in take out and eating in, they don't have enough stars on here for me to rate so 5 stars you get would love to give 10 or better. Keep up the good work guys

Just got done with a very long day working here in Columbus and looked forward to eating ribs from Smokey Bones… Just got through with my dinner from Smokey Bones. I ordered the 2/3 Memphis ribs tonight. Big mistake on my part! The ribs tasted like they were 3 or 4 days old! Dry as can be. I am use to The fall off the bone ribs and that’s what I was expecting! Instead what I got was dry and over cooked. Another way to say it was burnt. Also, I had to use a rib bone to eat the baked beans which were good and the Mac & cheese because no plastic wear was provided. If you decide to order the ribs from SB’s, you might ask how old the ribs are first. Hope it goes well for you. I live in St. Louis and I’m pretty sure the SB’s there would not have served what I got tonight. May it was just an off day for them. Hope they do better.

The store at 1282 Essex Avenue Columbus. Fixed my order just the way I like. The wings were well done, the ribs were falling off the bone. I will order from them again
Tricia S — Google review
Ordered wings and a burger got the burger on a moldy bun. I don't know what's wrong with this location but it's 2 bad experiences and it's safe to say that we will never be ordering from this location again.
