Italian restaurant
Breakfast restaurant
Brunch restaurant
Rose's Cafe is a charming and cozy Italian spot located in the Marina district of San Francisco. It offers a delightful European vibe with ample outdoor seating, perfect for enjoying a leisurely brunch. The menu features locally sourced Italian fare with an interesting twist, such as breakfast pizzas loaded with delicious toppings like smoked ham, fontina, and eggs or smoked salmon and creme fraiche.
Rose’s is a local staple for pretty much any meal, and it won’t take long to understand why. The menu is built around a pretty solid foundation of Italian food, with some American influences sprinkled around. Everything is delicious, and feels and tastes homemade. I had the chicken sausage and polenta with a slightly spicy tomato sauce that seriously almost knocked the wind out of me - not because of the spice! - because it reminded me so much of the tomato sauce my nonna made when I was a kid. The place is spacious and cozy, the staff is friendly and attentive, and I’d venture you can’t go wrong with anything on the menu.

it was fine. some dishes were pretty good but others fell flat. overall wouldn’t really come back, but glad i tried it. chicken sausage, polenta, spicy tomato: pretty good dish with tasty sausage bread pudding: hard skip. defrosted frozen strawberries on a bland bread pudding. go to tartine instead.

Came here on Mother’s Day hoping for a great meal with family. The restaurant wasn’t busy, which surprised us, but we’ve had good experiences here before and were optimistic. Unfortunately, the food was underseasoned. My smoked salmon breakfast pizza, my son’s chicken sausage with polenta, and my husband’s soft scrambled egg sandwich all needed help from hot sauce or salt and pepper. Service was friendly but a bit forgetful—we didn’t get sugar and cream for our coffee until it had gone cold. That said, we still enjoyed our time because we were in great company, and thankfully, there was no rush to leave. Even though the food didn’t shine this time, I’m giving the restaurant a 4/5 because I remember how wonderful it once was. I’m hopeful this was just an off day, and I’d love to see the kitchen return to the well-seasoned, memorable meals we’ve had here in the past.
Nancy — Google review
The food was good, but I wouldn’t call it one of the best brunch spots in SF, definitely not worth all the hype. The soup was actually quite good, and the breakfast pizza stood out as the best dish. The space itself is lovely with a great vibe right on Union Street, which definitely adds to the experience. However, the service wasn’t very friendly, which took away from the overall feel. All in all, a decent spot, just slightly above average for SF brunch standards.
Pooya F — Google review
Just wow! The bread on many dishes is light, fluffy, and just a quality product. The corner location is easily accessible and there is well over 25+ seats outside on a less than busy corner. Accessibility is easy for all patrons. Salmon dishes here are a top recommendation. The Salmon Cozy is light, yet has a sweet Italian dressing taste that makes it highly desired for more with subtle watercress. The Salmon Pizza is a unique gem that combines eggs with smoked salmon:) There is plenty of dishes that kids will enjoy. The pizza is again light with sauce and the dough is crunchy and holds its form well. The Staff is the friendliest with quality service throughout your time at Rose’s. Do not miss a stop at Rose’s when in San Francisco.

The server Aina guided me to this insanely good Margherita pizza. While living in North beach I thought that I had tasted the best pizza in town. I was mistaken until today.

Fantastic place. Very friendly staff today. Food was super good. Recommended breakfast spot!

I always have loved Roses. Even with dietary shifts, it’s just your classic local jaunt. Good options. Great atmosphere. Good people. Everyone who visits me ought to end up here for the authentic SF experience.

Manitas Cafe is a small, artsy cafe serving Salvadoran sandwiches and coffee. It's a great place to get lunch or breakfast, and the outdoor seating is great in nice weather. The cafe has a unique coffee mug selection that makes it one of my favorite spots in the neighborhood.
Another incredible restaurant in San Francisco. The Mole here is one of the best we've ever had, full stop. The portions are immense, and I can say that this is full on "home cookin'". I also want to point out how patient and gracious the staff was with our questions, and our broken spanish. Breakfast here is really a treat!
Jim T — Google review
Nice Mexican food spot not far from Golden Gate Park and Haight-Ashbury. We had some nachos with beef and tacos. Everything was delicious and the portions were very generous. I also recommend the Mexican Horchata, super refreshing. Great place for a quick lunch.
Álvaro M — Google review
Food was decent, edible, great presentation, but not a mindblower. The place itself is nice and relaxing. Good variety of food, I will give it another try. Aa
Cari M — Google review
Great location! Food was alright. I went there for a quick bite and ordered the Huevos Rancheros. They have their own spin on it which is usually not my preference, but it was still good.
Steve J — Google review
This was a very forgettable Low quality, small breakfast burrito for $18. Took over 20 min to receive w only 2 other tables after me. Lots of online orders, I suppose. It's a salvadorian place that makes Mexican food, so the flavors are not bold. Perhaps attractive to europeans canadians and central u s people. So, if you're Mexican or Southwestern searching for rich flavors, you will be highly disappointed.

Amazing tacos. Fantastic sandwiches. Insanely good mocha! I will be back!

Came here after a yoga class and enjoyed how quick the service was here! Good: - Solid breakfast burrito - the portion sizes were great here and I feel like I got a great meal for great value too - Felt like everything was made fresh - Horchata here was super tasty and refreshing too Bad: - Not the cleanest place, it felt like it was a little janky but also very local and authentic - The seats weren't super comfortable here either Overall this place was a nice find post-workout, but not sure if I'd come again.

Super cute and low key restaurant with some of the best chicken mole chilaquiles you’ll ever have. Incredibly friendly and very fast service. What a great place to come for brunch or lunch after a walk or other activity in Golden Gate Park, just a short walk away. Grab a seat outside after ordering inside. Pace yourself while eating since the food is so delicious. Tab came to about 20$ including tip.

Mama's On Washington Square is a legendary American restaurant in North Beach that has been run by the Sanchez family for over 50 years. The cozy eatery is known for its hearty breakfast and light fare, attracting long lines of locals and tourists alike. The festive atmosphere adds to the experience, making the sometimes epic weekend queue part of the fun.
Stopped by Mama’s as we walked the area (San Francisco Telegraph Hill and Washington Square). We passed by initially due to a line of patrons waiting for seats. On our return, there were a couple tables open so we went in. Appeared to be a local spot, with many customers having conversations with staff. Although not a local, we were welcomed as one, and all gave their inputs and feedback, whether that was best seats available or favorites on the menu. We got seated in a great corner booth. For food, we went with specials off the menu: Seafood benedicts and Trio French Toast (One of each Swedish Cinnamon, Cranberry-orange, banana walnut breads). We also tried the favorite Mama’s smoothie. All orders were delicious! The overall experience was great, staff were friendly and food was excellent! Definitely recommend. Note that the menu shared in photos was from the 1950s and a memory lane item on the walls.

Mama’s is a true SF brunch classic, and I finally tried their crab cake benedict — so good. The crab cakes were fresh and flavorful, topped with perfectly poached eggs and creamy hollandaise that wasn’t too heavy. Portions are generous and it’s super filling. The vibe inside is cozy and bustling, with that old-school North Beach charm. The wait can be long, but sitting right by Washington Square makes it less painful. If you’re in San Francisco and don’t mind a line, Mama’s is a must for a satisfying brunch.
Flora — Google review
TLDR; great, popular breakfast spot! I came here to grab breakfast with a friend while visiting the city, We stopped by for breakfast. It was fairly busy even on a Wednesday morning. Service was quick — you take a seat then order at the counter. The restaurant wears its status as an institution in its decor — there’s a lot of cool art/decoration. The food itself was great. The lemonade was good and not too sweet. The French roast sampler was great as well. The variety was really cool to see and unlike anything else I’ve had. They also offer a house jam that’s delicious. Would go here again! Next time, I’ll try more savory options. My friend mentioned that the omelets are some of the best he’s had.
Rathin K — Google review
It's a must have when you visit SF. The community feel to the place allows you to get to meet other diners. We were lucky enough to sit with the owner and chewed the fat with him and his friend. Was expecting a long line and there was only a couple ahead of us.
Russell A — Google review
It’s a little small and, depending on when you go, there will be a wait (I think I only waited about 15 min on a Saturday morning) but OMG is it worth it! I had French toast with fresh fruit and a side of scrambled eggs and it was delicious! There were so many delicious looking bakery items at the window where you order also. It was really hard not to order a few things to take with me (I was trekking up to Coit Tower afterwards). The service was awesome too! All the staff were very friendly and attentive, despite it being so busy. I’d definitely come back!
Brittany J — Google review
It’s always a long waiting line here but it’s worth it. A yum yum brunch will open your sleepy eyes widely. 🤤 The waiters are very friendly. Love the daily homemade jam. 🍓🫐
Q M — Google review
Came in around 11am on a Friday no wait. Service was amazing, the food came out incredibly quickly. Tried the grilled chicken sandwich and 2 eggs with chicken sausage would recommend both. Prices seemed slightly higher than they should be even for SF. Based on the number of people there with luggage would say the word is out on this place and you can expect big wait times on weekends
Chris J — Google review
We stopped by for breakfast around 10:30 am on a Thursday morning. We were lucky to get a table. I ordered a spinach omelet. It was very good. My son got the eggs Benedict and enjoyed it very much. The staff were excellent. I forgot to take a photo of our food. But did see this Waymo outside.

Eight AM Brunch is a modern and compact cafe located in Fisherman's Wharf, offering a delectable selection of American breakfast and lunch classics along with coffee and smoothies. The cafe is renowned for its mouthwatering waffles, such as the simple Belgian waffle and the indulgent Banana Nut waffle, both served with an abundance of fresh fruits and whipped cream.
We loved our breakfast here. The menu has many choices and we were lucky enough to snag a table next to the window, so the atmosphere/view was enhanced. This place is very crowded- for a good reason. We had to wait about 20 minutes, but it was worth it. The staff was attentive (many coffee refills) and the food came quickly. I had the strawberry crepe and my son had some sort of stuffed croissant. Both went quickly! It was a quick walk from the Argonaut (where I plan to stay on all my trips) so I will return on my next trip.
Michelle S — Google review
Breakfast at EightAM Brunch was a great experience. We had the pancakes and the avocado toast – both were delicious. The avocado toast, in particular, was very generous in size and really satisfying. The dishes were fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The menu offers a nice variety, and the cozy, welcoming atmosphere makes it a perfect spot for a relaxed start to the day. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area!
Paulina — Google review
I stopped here around 10 AM on a Saturday. It was busy so we had to wait a few minutes for a table. The service here was great and very quick. I had the open faced bagel with avocado, egg and ham - it was a great combo. The fruit cup that came with it was very generous and fresh. I also had a crepe with peanut butter and banana. It was delicious. I would definitely recommend stopping here.
Carter D — Google review
This is simply an amazing place. For the quality, quantity, and outstanding service it is worth every penny! Real coffee and even green tea latte! Freshly squeezed juice! Food prepared just the way you order and served hot. We enjoyed and will return! A true gem!

Eight AM is an absolute gem for breakfast in the heart of San Francisco’s tourist area. The food is beautifully plated and just as delicious as it looks — every dish feels fresh and made with care. Service is quick, and the whole team is super friendly, which really adds to the experience. It’s the kind of spot that makes you want to linger a little longer over your coffee and enjoy the vibe. For me, it was the perfect way to start the day, and I’d recommend it to anyone visiting the city. Definitely worth the stop and easily a 5-star breakfast spot.
Walter L — Google review
We highly recommend this place that is close to fisherman's wharf. Very popular and busy spot but we got seated pretty quick. The staff here are friendly and service is fast. We enjoyed our healthy brunch.
Robert B — Google review
Cute little restaurant on our walk towards the Piers. We sat outside and were greeted by friendly wait staff. I had their open-faced bagel and opted for a sweet and a savory option. One half of the bagel had avocado, deli ham and an over easy egg. The other half with cream cheese, strawberries and honey, served with a large side of ripe fruit. My friend had an egg dish which she loved. The food was served hot and quickly with big portion sizes
Nicole F — Google review
Went to Eight AM for brunch based on their exceptional reviews (4.6 at the time), and honestly… it felt pretty overrated. The overall vibe was chill and the staff was friendly, but the food didn’t live up to the hype — very mediocre and definitely overpriced in my opinion. We ordered the Egg Frittata, Nutella Crepes, Waffle, and the Avocado Toast Sampler. The frittata came with house fries and fruit, and while it was decent, it didn’t feel like it was worth $22. The avocado toast sampler was especially disappointing — $30 for what was basically plain avocado spread on toast, topped with tomato, mozzarella, and a balsamic drizzle. It had almost no flavor, and definitely didn’t justify the price tag. The latte was just okay — nothing special — and same goes for the crepes and waffles. Not bad, but nothing memorable either. One annoying surprise: they automatically added a 20% gratuity, which they claim is for parties over 4 — that’s fine, but it really should be clearly mentioned somewhere on the menu or told upfront. I always tip anyway, but it’s the lack of transparency that was frustrating. Overall, it’s a cute spot with a relaxed atmosphere, but the food was underwhelming and overpriced. Giving 3 stars because it wasn’t bad, just really average and not worth the hype or cost. Wouldn’t go out of my way to return.

Brenda's French Soul Food is a charming restaurant in the Tenderloin district of San Francisco, offering a delightful blend of French, Creole, and Southern cuisine. Chef-owner Brenda Buenviaje infuses her New Orleans roots into the menu, featuring delectable dishes such as beignets, po' boys, fried chicken benedict on biscuits with grits for brunch, and savory options like chicken and andouille sausage gumbo for dinner.
Excellent food everything is absolutely delicious! Nothing is bad, everything is spectacular no exaggeration! The quality of the food exceeds my expectations. Even the coffee… OMG, it’s amazing! The service is always outstanding. The staff is incredible, from the kitchen to the servers; everyone is wonderful. The food speaks for itself truly one of my favorite restaurants in San Francisco. The customer service is top-notch; they make you feel so welcome. Please, never change! The prices are fair and totally worth the quality of the food. Everything is amazing, truly excellent.
Angie C — Google review
We had the catfish and fried chicken Benedict, grillades and grits and the bananas fosters french toast. The portions are all shareable, and that we did! Perfect texture and flavors from all menu items. Tomorrow we will be trying all of their famous beignets. My favorite was the beignets. They were so soft and crunchy and the seasoning was amazing.
Mary S — Google review
We went the day before for just the beignet, and it was incredible, especially the ube ones. I was really disappointed with the chicken and waffles though, I thought it was kind of odd that the peach syrup is served like, fridge cold, so the waffles were completely cold when they came out. The chicken was hot which I appreciate, but it was also EXTREMELY thin. (See photo)
Wilfred V — Google review
Came here on a Saturday afternoon for lunch and no wait at all. It's a bit pricey ($5 or ONE oyster!), but the food was delicious. Highly recommend the Catfish & Grits and watermelon iced tea. The beignets are filling. The fried chicken has good seasoning, but on the greasy side. Friendly staff and fast service.
My N — Google review
This spot is easily one of my favorites in San Francisco! The food tastes so fresh and full of flavor. The catfish and grits were amazing, and that biscuit was out of this world. Portions are generous, and the prices feel totally fair for the quality you get. I’m already planning to come back and try more from the menu!

Wow, our server was so helpful and kind. The food spoke for itself. Absolutely delicious. We went on a Sunday morning in June. The vibe was chill lots of small groups and couples coming in and out. We tried several things on the menu. Great flavors in everything. 💯 Recommend.
StiLL R — Google review
We came here in the afternoon for beignets and they were absolutely delicious. Our favorites were the chocolate and ube ones! We loved it so much that we came back the next morning to try their peach waffles but unfortunately it was a bit disappointing. The flavors were pretty good but the waffles came out cold, the chicken was very thin and slightly cold. We still might come back in the future to try other things on the menu but we didn’t think the waffles were worth $24.
Mari L — Google review
I had the catfish and grits at Brenda’s French Soul Food and it was absolutely amazing! The catfish was perfectly seasoned and crispy, and the grits were creamy and full of flavor. The vibe of the place is warm and lively, and the service was great. Definitely one of the best soul food spots in San Francisco m I’ll be coming back for sure!

Sweet Maple is a popular spot in San Francisco known for its homemade morning and lunch dishes, particularly the signature brown-sugar-glazed “millionaire’s bacon.” The restaurant is famous for its slow-cooked sweet and spicy bacon, as well as deep-fried French toast that can be drizzled with Jack Daniels infused maple syrup. Their menu offers a variety of options, but anything featuring their iconic bacon is highly recommended.
It's a shame that I can only give this place 5 stars, as I would give 10 stars if I could. The food was fresh, delicious, and plentiful. The waffle was spot on in flavor and crisp to creamy ratio. The eggs over easy were cooked to perfection, as we're the crispy potatoes. They were the perfect medium to sop up my egg. The orange juice was fresh squeezed, not from concentrate. I can't stress how yummy it was. We splurged and got the Millionaires Bacon Sampler. OMG. Each slice was thick and seasoned just right. My personal favorite was the citronella, while my boyfriend found the savory rosemary one to be his favorite. We sat outside in the outdoor seating area. It was a bit chilly, but the Chai Tea really warmed us up. It was so pretty, I almost felt guilty drinking it. It definitely tasted as good as it looked. The staff was friendly, helpful, and attentive. Things that seem hard to come by these days. They also wore these awesome Millionaires Bacon Sweatshirts. I am a big time bacon fan so I was more than thrilled to be able to purchase one of my own. The prices are a bit steep for sure, but totally worth it. I will definitely return the next time I find myself in San Francisco. Parking can be a pain to find, since it is street parking only, but we found a spot not to far away down the street. I highly recommend you check out Sweet Maple if you want a fresh and delicious breakfast, brunch, or lunch.

Top notch place all around. Loved the deep fried french toast (available as a side), millionaire bacon, and grapefruit mimosa. Thought it was a little tacky with all of the wait staff wearing $1M bacon shirts but it is very good and not to be missed.

Close by for a DR appointment and wanted brunch. This place was the closet and we were so fortunate to have walked in. The restaurant is quick service, up-scale and unique dishes. The caramel macchiato tasted great, the deep-fried French toast was different than we'd ever had before, and the test kitchen special ramen and fried rice with the millionaire's bacon was on point. Service was fast and with a smile. We would definitely come back again.

Sweet Maple is definitely a brunch spot worth the hype! I ordered their Big Hip— their famous deep-fried French toast— and wow, it did not disappoint. Crispy on the outside, soft and warm on the inside, and paired perfectly with pure Vermont maple syrup, butter, and powdered sugar. Absolute perfection. But the real star of the show? The Millionaire Bacon. Oh. My. God. Hands down the best bacon I’ve ever had in my life— rich, slightly spicy, sweet, and just insanely flavorful. Even if you don’t order a full meal, you HAVE to at least get a side of this bacon. It’s a must-try and totally worth the trip just for that alone!

When we saw the line around the block we knew it was worth the wait! Lovely little brunch place! Because of the size of our group we were sat quite fast! Service was ok, food was delicious and tasty, portions were small, and atmosphere was great! My favorite was the citrus batter french toast!
Roberto F — Google review
A friend and I walked to Sweet Maple as the sun broke through the summer fog this morning. I can imagine that on a weekend morning, Sweet Maple has a long queue of people waiting, but on this Thursday morning around 9:00am we were seated immediately. We shared a Millionaire Bacon platter (pictured) and all I can say is, if you love bacon, you will be completely delighted as you eat this bacon like a millionaire. My Marnier French Toast was delicious and flavorful. My friend had eggs prepared to perfection. The wait staff was responsive, plentiful and excellent. The environment was clean, modern and well lit.
Laura P — Google review
Generous portions, but the overall experience was underwhelming. Ladies, be prepared — I had to keep my backpack on while eating because the seating was so tight. Our party of eight felt quite uncomfortable. The servers were gathered at the kitchen counter, and even though we were seated right next to them, no one offered us coffee until we specifically asked for it. The restaurant advertises a “million-dollar” breakfast, but the menu is quite standard — nothing particularly impressive or unique. The location is in a residential area with little to see or do nearby. The outdoor seating area looks neglected, with just a few tables and no décor to make it inviting. We were also only given one napkin per plate, which felt insufficient for a full breakfast service.
Rosa G — Google review
The food was quite enjoyable, although a bit expensive. The service was excellent. The food arrived promptly, and they were very attentive about refilling my coffee. The establishment was clean and pleasant, but the tables were positioned rather closely together, which made it feel as though I was dining with the neighboring table.

Restaurant
Plow, located in Potrero Hill, is a popular brunch spot known for its farm-to-table American comfort food and cozy ambiance. The restaurant is famous for its fluffy lemon ricotta pancakes and no-reservation policy, making it worth the wait. The casual dining room and adjacent parklet provide a warm and rustic atmosphere, reminiscent of having breakfast at a friend's house.
I’ve always wanted to try this place, and I finally made the trip to PLOW! It was the best decision I ever made to take my wife to breakfast. The customer service was amazing. Everybody is so nice. Wait time was not long at all and they have a sitting area outside. The food was absolutely delicious and the atmosphere was good. If you’re looking to go have breakfast and a low-key spot with great food great vibes. I definitely recommend checking out PLOW SF. If you take the time to come, I can promise you that you will not be disappointed. This is a must visit breakfast location, I highly recommend you give it a try.

Great service from start to finish. We came around noon on a Wednesday and it was surprisingly busy. The space is small, so seating can be tight you might end up sharing a table unintentionally. Our food came out quickly and everything tasted fresh, clearly made in-house. I had the fried chicken sandwich, which was good but could’ve used a bit more flavor. The buttercream biscuit was my favorite thing I tried so good! I’m definitely coming back to try one of the sweet dishes they looked delicious.

The lemon and ricotta pancakes were 10/10. I had The Plow for breakfast with the sausages and every single thing in my plate was to die for. The servers were super nice. Amazon overall experience. Definitely want to go back.

Cozy and nicely situated in a bit distant neighborhood, away from the tourist attractions which gives it a home style food spot. We enjoyed great breakfast, especially those distinguished “lemon ricotta pancakes” along with scrambled eggs, and surely, many cups of great Americano coffee. I commend the notable customer attention and prompt service, despite the busy pace and the pretty filled seatings with many customers. In case you arrive late, expect to line in the queue…it worth waiting.
Ahmed J — Google review
Plow is one of those San Francisco brunch spots that lives up to the hype—and the line out the door proves it. Even on a Friday morning before 11 a.m., we had to wait about 45 minutes, but once the food hit the table, it all made sense. We ordered “The Plow,” their signature plate with eggs your way, sausage, crispy potatoes, and two pancakes. The potatoes were golden and addictive, the pancakes fluffy and melt-in-your-mouth—easily the stars of the plate. We also tried the albacore tuna sandwich, which was fresh and flavorful. The vibe is bright and cozy, with both indoor and outdoor seating, and the service kept things running smoothly despite the crowd. If you go, come hungry, bring patience for the wait, and know that the first bite of those potatoes and pancakes will make it all worthwhile.
Lina E — Google review
tried the chia seed pudding which was amazing and the toppings worked perfectly together, also tried the fried egg sandwich which was good and the potatoes were crispy but a large portion. we split the almond flour pancakes and added the house jam, they were good but probably wouldn’t get again as the consistency was not to our liking. Overall an amazing experience and would definitely come back.
Elizabeth S — Google review
I’ve eaten here twice now and my absolute favorite thing is the biscuit with honey butter. it’s a large buttery, perfectly baked biscuit that comes with a generous side of honey butter. Overall, their food is good, the plow breakfast plate gets a solid 7/10 from me. But for a 90min - 2hr wait, which is common here on the weekend because the space is small, I want a meal that’s unforgettable. People seem to really love this place and I love that for the restaurant! Next time they see me, it’ll be to order that biscuit again.
Tiese E — Google review
It's a decent brunch spot with some unique menu items, but I'm not sure I'd ever recommend coming here. For the price, the value you obtain is very low. The only thing that was unique about the Plow is the lemon ricotta pancake. Would I pay $40 for that? Absolutely not. It's edible. Location is also weird. The inside is casual, but slightly cramped. The outside seating looked uncomfortable. The open kitchen is great though. Loved watching the chefs at work. Service is also excellent! Constant check-ins, coffee refills, handed me the menu right away, cleared dishes smoothly. Definitely 100% here. All-in-all, it's a one and done sort of place for me. I don't regret, but I'm also not coming back. Worth a try once if you're around the area?

Cinderella Bakery & Cafe is a beloved gem nestled in the Richmond District, serving up traditional Russian delights since 1953. This charming establishment offers an array of comforting pastries, including savory piroshkis and flaky treats that evoke nostalgia with every bite. The menu is a delightful journey through classic flavors, featuring hearty dishes like borsch and pelmeni served in rich broth.
I've been wanting to visit this place for a long time, and finally, last Saturday, I had the chance to have lunch there. I will return every time I get the opportunity. It has a reputation for a reason: delicious, simple food, a wide selection, reasonable prices, fast service, and the food tastes simply amazing. Everything I tried was fantastic! The only thing I wish for is a bigger place, but I suppose that's something we all want to. I just want more stomach and time to try every dish on their menu! If you haven't visited this place yet, don't hesitate. I do not doubt that every item on their menu is worth trying and tastes delicious.

My husband and I came to San Francisco today from Sacramento and chose Cinderella Bakery & Café for lunch. We ordered borscht and fried dumplings — everything was delicious and very home-style! Authentic Ukrainian food that brought back warm memories. We especially loved that there’s a wide variety of baked goods, pastries, and Ukrainian dishes and drinks. The staff was friendly and attentive. We enjoyed the outdoor seating area with covered benches — cozy and surprisingly dust-free even though it’s near the road. Portions are generous — you’ll definitely leave full. The only downside was that the tables were a bit sticky and the interior felt a bit dated — though that kind of added to the nostalgic charm. If you’re craving real Ukrainian food, I definitely recommend stopping by.

This place is definitely popular for a reason. They have extensive menus with Russian dishes. Non-Russian items look fabulous as well. My friend recommended Fried Perosky (a kind of bread with stuffing). It tastes great when it's warm. When I bring it back home and toast until it is slightly crispy, it is even better! I am looking forward to trying many more things there.

Stopped by Cinderella, a German bakery in Richmond, and it’s such a charming spot. The pastries and desserts were excellent and tasted authentic (Not that I could tell), with a good variety to choose from. The place itself has a cozy, welcoming feel and the staff were friendly. It does get busy, so expect a line, but the food and atmosphere make it worth the wait. A great place to try if you’re in the area and want something authentic and delicious.

Cinderella Bakery Cafe is an absolute gem and my top choice for fresh pastries and coffee. The moment you step inside, the warm smell of baked goods and the inviting atmosphere make you feel at home. Their pastries are always perfectly fresh, flaky, and full of flavor, while the coffee is rich and smooth. The staff is friendly and attentive, adding to the welcoming vibe. Whether you’re here for breakfast, a sweet treat, or a cozy break in your day, this place is a true delight and well worth the visit.

Café Cinderella is a great spot on San Francisco’s culinary map. They serve delicious Russian and Eastern European food and desserts. The Polish pierogi stuffed with cheese are truly authentic, and the Russian soups, like solyanka, are outstanding. Portions are generous and very filling, and the prices are quite reasonable. What I also really appreciated is that, despite the low prices and casual, bar-like atmosphere, they still serve everything on ceramic plates with real metal cutlery. Overall, I can highly recommend this place.
S. R — Google review
Small bakery and cafe spot. Their borscht seems to be one of the most popular dishes, as I have seem quite a few people eating it anytime I come by to grab an Eclair. Which, by the way, are great! Hard to find a decent eclair in SF, and this place definitely scratches that itch! All sitting is in the outside, so if its a windy or rainy day, you might want to consider take out.

Devil's Teeth Baking Company, located near the beach in Outer Sunset, San Francisco, is a popular spot known for its delicious breakfast sandwiches and freshly baked goods. The bakery offers a grab-and-go experience with limited seating available in a cute parklet. Owned by Hilary Passman, this no-frills establishment has gained fame for its mouthwatering breakfast sandwich featuring scrambled eggs, cheddar, applewood smoked bacon or sausage on a house-made buttermilk biscuit.
During my four days traveling in San Francisco, I looked forward to having breakfast here every morning. This is my favorite place out of my 20-day trip in the U.S. I wish I could try everything on the menu! I really love the service here. Every time you call me “DORA,” it feels like a warm and beautiful start to my day.🥹 Thank you for the delicious food and amazing service. Le Marais Bakery is a charming French bakery and cafe with locations in San Francisco, Mill Valley, and Larkspur. The cozy atmosphere features beautiful tilework, delicate cafe chairs, and Tiffany blue accents. The menu offers a variety of classic French pastries such as croissants, beignets, breads filled with farm fruits and Valrhona chocolate.
Amazing! Bakery items were super fresh. The place is a French-style breakfast spot. I had heard a lot about it, so I wanted to give it a try. I wouldn’t be exaggerating if I said the freshness and taste were close to the bakery goods I had in Paris. Definitely give it a try!!!
Beyza S — Google review
🥐 The Great Croissant Debacle: My primary reason for visiting Le Marais Bakery was their much-hyped gigantic croissant, supposedly the largest in San Francisco. However, upon ordering, I was informed that it requires a minimum 48-hour advance order! This crucial information was nowhere to be found on their website or in the article that touted its size. This was incredibly disappointing, especially after a considerable drive. 🥐 Regular Croissant Quality: To get a sense of their baking, I ordered a regular croissant. It was dry and lacked any of the buttery, flaky goodness you expect from a decent croissant. A complete letdown. ☕ Service Issues: The service was far from satisfactory. The staff member I interacted with was not particularly helpful. Additionally, despite bringing our own reusable coffee cups, our coffee took an inexplicably long time to be served, arriving after other customers who had ordered after us. This felt disorganized and inconsiderate. 🌐 Misleading Information: The fact that the 48-hour pre-order requirement for their signature item isn't clearly stated online is a significant issue and a major inconvenience for customers. 👎 Overall: My experience at Le Marais Bakery was thoroughly disappointing. From the misleading information about their advertised specialty to the subpar quality of the regular croissant and the poor service, I cannot recommend this bakery. Save your time and look elsewhere for your pastry cravings.
Sohrob H — Google review
Although imperfect, Le Marais is a solid spot to grab a bite for brunch with some friends. I had mixed feelings about some of the food. The freshly prepared food was quite nice, but the pastries, I’d consider only to be okay. Your mileage may vary on seating, depending on when you show up. For the group I was with, it was quite a challenge to find enough space for our group to sit and eat. That said, when we decided we did want to stay, the staff handled a couple of us switching our orders to dine-in very gracefully. If you’re here when it’s a little less busy, you might not have the same issues. All things considered, it’s definitely a solid spot to check out.

If you’re looking for that perfect summer brunch spot that feels like a sunny getaway, Le Marais Bakery in San Francisco checks all the boxes. The café itself feels like a slice of summer in Europe — bright white walls, pops of blue, sun-drenched corners, and leafy plants that give off total Santorini brunch vibes. It’s the kind of place where you can sip on a hot cappuccino lose track of time, and pretend you’re on vacation. Loved The Pain Suisse.Think about layers of flaky, buttery pastry hugging rich belgium chocolate and silky cream (not sure about it’s ingredients though) — each bite perfectly balanced between indulgent and light. It’s not just a pastry; it’s a moment. Crisp on the outside, melt-in-your-mouth on the inside. Next time would love to try their proper brunch menu, so many options to choose from.

Gorgeous cafe, and the food is amazing, the crepes - delicious. Only thing - the matcha was atrocious. It was a brownish green, and 99% milk. I’d highly recommend coming to eat, but stick to the coffee.

Art's Cafe is a beloved Korean-American diner in the Inner Sunset district of San Francisco. After 30 years, the original owners retired, but new local owners have taken over to preserve its nostalgic charm. The cafe is known for its all-day breakfasts and American lunches, with a menu featuring magnificent hash brown sandwiches with various fillings like bacon, sausage, and teriyaki beef. The small 10-seat counter diner also offers pancakes, omelets, and egg dishes.
This is one of those times when following others and hoping it will be good place to eat paid off. I just had the best veggie omelette from Art’s. I highly recommend them for their food and service. Only draw back was casual seating along the street.

We got the bugolgi hash brown sandwich and the tofu bibimbap. The hash browns were tasty and with the sweetness of the bugolgi made a very nice pairing. The bibimbap was not too pickled and not under seasoned. Over all it was filling, but it was not inexpensive.

I had a horrible experience here. First of all, you have to wait outside at least half an hour for a table. My french toasts were completely burnt at the bottom even though they look perfectly fine on top. Hot chocolate tasted like a cocoa powder with cold water. And the waitress just threw a check on my table without saying a word, it was very unprofessional and rude. I don’t know why this place has so many good reviews. I would not recommend it, don’t go here

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ — **Art’s Cafe (SF)** If you’re after a **great breakfast at a great price** with **no-nonsense, get-it-done service**, Art’s Cafe delivers. Everything we ordered was **tasty**—hearty portions, fresh, and fast. My wife met the **owners**, who were extremely busy yet still took a moment to say hello on our **first visit**. Their **son** also greeted us and thanked us for waiting—small gestures that go a long way. Food-wise, this spot is now on my **favorites** list. Don’t miss the **Korean-inspired options**—the flavors hit just right. Only tiny nit: my toast could’ve been a shade more golden (the plate next to me had the perfect toast—was tempted to swap!). Still, it’s an easy fix and won’t keep us from coming back. Bottom line: **excellent breakfast, honest prices, and friendly, efficient service.** We’ll be back soon.

Customers can expect quick service with orders usually ready within 10-15 minutes when called ahead. The owner is highly regarded for being friendly and attentive to regulars.
Phenomenal burgers are available here. If you want to bite into a burger that isn't gigantic, has fresh toppings and a juicy patty between soft, nice-looking buns, this is the place for you. I had the Bad Mofo burger without pickles and it was perfect. There was fresh lettuce, a nice fresh slice of tomato, and crispy bacon along with the patty. I also had a drink, but I don't remember what it was. Overall, the food was really good, and the service was too. It was pretty plain inside, except for the cars. It's a simple-looking restaurant with burgers that are simply wonderful. There isn't much seating, but Union Square isn't that far away.

Fun little breakfast sandwich shop, love the atmosphere and very friendly staff! I went for the Broke Millionaire, good overall for sure but I'll admit the leading flavor was the sausage patty and I was hoping all of the other elements would've not been buried by that.

After enjoying my first burger here, I can easily say this is my new favorite spot to get a burger in the city. The taste was perfect, the kitchen cooked it exactly the way I asked, and the presentation was impressive (see photo). Parking in the area sucks, so if you’re ordering take-out, I recommend being extra cautious with eating their burgers in the car. It’s insanely juicy (only after you bite into it) and you’re going to regret not bringing your bathing suit. I’m a huge foodie, but I rarely post good reviews unless it’s truly impressive…my bad, don’t hate. Bravo Bandit 👏
Anthony P — Google review
Even though it’s stated as a takeaway place, there is a few seats inside should you choose to have your burger there. Staff are helpful and the burgers are freshly prepared upon ordering. The focus is more on the freshness of the ingredients and not so much on sauces that’ll end up overpowering everything else in the burger.

I have been wanting to check out this little burger joint for a while and when I finally did, it did not disappoint. I had the Brekkie for breakfast and enjoyed this little monster. It looks small but well stacked with scrambled egg, pork patty, cheese and tater tots. Because it's technically a burger, it's heavier (greasier) than the usual "breakfast sandwiches", but definitely more satisfying too. Service was friendly. No outdoor seatings (but to be honest, you may not want to sit outside and eat on Geary anyway).

very authentically scandi! i recommend the hot trout bowl- so good. northern europeans know their stuff about fish and potatoes. loved my kardemumma kaffe and it was so nice to see classic swedish buns 💜 made me really miss home which is how you know it’s legit. for the people complaining saying it’s too healthy/bland/expensive/small portions….. food is healthy and simple in northern europe! portions are small and quality ingredients are expensive. that’s just how it goes in norden. thanks for a taste of home in sf <3 source: i’m danish-american, have lived in sweden and was married to a swede so i have a pretty good grasp on nordic fare!

TLDR great vibes great pastries ok food! The tebirkes croissant was amazing. The cardamon knot was a bit overhyped we found it just ok. Food was mediocre - very aesthetic and healthy but honestly overpriced for what it is (porridge, bread, butter, jam, cheese, egg) like you can just make at home haha there’s nothing special about the flabors. No technique involved either. Just simple healthy ingredients (at least the brunch plate and porridge) so don’t get all the hype tbh. But pastries are amazing!

The best way to find a cool cafe serving great food, just stumbling across it whilst waiting for the local record store to open (at midday! Lazy! 😆). I had the cured trout in a seeded roll with potato crema and salad. Delicious. And as good as anything Ole and Steen can rustle up. Glad I ordered 2 Swedish Caves (crumbly jam-filled treats) as I got most the first one all down myself. Super friendly and handsome staff. Highly recommended.

I usually run in for coffee and their baked goods which are delicious. Their Cardamon Morning Buns, Semlor Bun, a cardamon bun with cream filling, almond croissants, and I love their cookies esp. the Kolasnittar (caramel slices) and their Jam Caves, a Scandinavian Thumbprint. The cafe is a little off the beaten track on Market (away from Downtown), a couple of blocks from Zuni Cafe. Parking is not too bad if you go up the hill away from Market St. It’s cute place with a nice vibe. I intend to have a meal there soon, their plates look delicious with whole grain breads, cheeses, porridges, eggs & salmon. As an aside, they also have a cookbook, Scandinavian from Scratch. I had a couple of questions on a recipe and asked when I happened to stop in for pastries. Nichole, the owner and creator was there and was really nice and helpful troubleshooting the recipe!

Breakfast Little, located in the Mission district of San Francisco, offers a unique twist on the classic breakfast burrito by pairing it with Tater Tots. The menu features a limited selection of delicious items, such as the El Sancho burrito with salsa verde and roja on the side. The restaurant has a cozy atmosphere with some seating inside and allows for call-ahead orders. While street parking may be tight, the friendly staff and quick service make it worth a visit.
So I just typed in best breakfast places in the mission and this popped up. We didn’t really have to wait for seats even though it was crowded. The service good and food was yummy. I got the El sancho which had spicy chorizo in it along with tater tots! Great combo! The coffee is good too. I would come again. My daughter got the breakfast sandwich and a latte and she likes her food as well.

Food: 3/5 Service: 2.5/5 Ambiance: 3/5 Portion to Price: 3/5 Overall: Pretty standard fare. The extended review... Food: BL tots - 3/5 - I mean who can say no to tots. These were pretty standard fare. Almond French Toast - 3/5 - Odd that it was served in a bag. Pretty standard fare. Service: 2.5/5 - The staff was a bit rude to other customers. Ambiance: 3/5 - A decent amount of space to eat although the tables don't seem to get cleaned quickly after people leave. Portion to Price: 3/5 - Pretty standard price for portion.

Looked up a place for a quick nice breakfast and this hit the SPOT. Food was fresh and tasty. Not bland, and they had different sauces you can ask for at no extra charge. Staff was kind and accommodating. We went around 8:00am and they had plenty of space to sit down. The only reason I’m giving the place a 4/5 is because of the cleanliness. It was raining today so maybe that added to the almost “wet dog” type of smell inside? Either way it wasn’t overall pleasant. The chairs weren’t clean nor were the walls. Needs a good scrub down. Hoping they’re able to add that improvement. Other than that the food was great and totally worth it.

Stopped by Breakfast Little and finally tried their famous O.G. breakfast burrito, totally lives up to the hype! The vibrant, colorful space matches the bold flavors they’re serving up. The burrito was perfectly packed with all the right ingredients, seasoned, and seriously satisfying. The casual, welcoming vibe makes it a great spot whether you’re grabbing something quick or settling in for a relaxed morning. If you’re in the neighborhood and craving a solid breakfast, this place delivers. Definitely coming back to work my way through the rest of the menu!

Came here on a visit to SF, I was not expecting such a crowd for breakfast. Recommend ordering ahead for pickup, there isn’t a ton of seating anyways. Had the bacon egg and cheese on a roll, it was so good, I wish I got a second! Highly recommend this place in a neighborhood that has plenty to offer

The burrito was pretty solid and packed with taste! 👍 I got the "El Sancho". Wait times could be pretty long though due to word of mouth. Salsas (green or roasted (whatever I forgot) are pretty flavorful if you love a bit of heat. 🙃

You have to grab breakfast here. We did on the way back to the airport, and took it to Pacifica pier to eat before leaving SF. The Og breakfast wrap had tots and this special garlic aoli. Anazingggg two coffees, I got the dark chocolate and my wife got the cinnamon. It started to get very busy in our way out, we got there when it opened.

Incredible breakfast and coffee. I usually get classic tater tots with scrambled egg and avocado. Yummy! Sometimes it seems a little salty but generally it’s wonderful food. Small space for its popularity and yet it feels homey ☺️ I will keep coming back

Breadbelly is an airy cafe located on Clement Street, offering a fusion of Asian and Californian influences in its coffee, baked goods, and light bites. The bakery was initially a pop-up by chefs with experience from renowned spots like Atelier Crenn and Coi, drawing inspiration from their travels in Asia and their Chinese and Filipino-American heritage.
Nom nom nom, this is a must try if you're in the area. Everything was on point in regard to the flavor profile. The pastries and drinks were well prepared with the use of quality ingredients. Great customer service and the wait wasn't very long. Seating indoors is limited, because it is a small facility. They do offer additional seating outdoors, but on busy days you may be out of luck or have to wait. I will definitely be back. Breadbelly is a family favorite! 💜

We had lunch here on a week day. Definitely come before the lunch rush because parking is very limited. We ordered and took a seat outside they call your name for drinks and food separately to pick up. The outdoor patio is nice but can get very windy and cold. The food was tasty, but I'm not sure I would pay $18 for a breakfast sandwich. Other than taking your order and calling your name for pick up there was very little interaction with the staff.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE breadbelly. It’s has the BEST matcha lattes in the city in my opinion, even better than some of the matcha I had in Japan, which is A LOT. I have been trying to find a matcha that tops this place and very few places come close. I want to gatekeep this place so much and for as long as I can but it’s becoming increasingly popular these days. So expect long lines on weekends. I’m just sad I can’t go everyday because it’s so far out in Richmond. Yes the prices are pricey ($8+ for matcha) and yes they charge an employee mandate fee. But it’s worth it. I also love their Kaya toast and bun. Their rotating seasonal drinks are great too. 10/10

Very delicious blueberry tart! It has a great texture with the crunch of the croissant and the almonds in the crust. Loved the flavor, and would get again. My husband also enjoyed his plain croissant.

Absolute must visit. Kaya toast so unique and tasty. The Korean cornbread with egg was the same. The sandwiches looked soooooooooo good. Next time in town, I will be back.

Small local cafe with interesting items. We tried the kaya toast, shrimpwich, and summer corn bun. I wanted to try everything bun and matcha drinks but they don't have those now. The kaya toast tastes good and smells nice but can be sweet if eating it all. Summer corn bun is their new item instead of former buns and is just okay. Shrimp sandwich is also fine (expected flavor) but pricey. For coffee, we tried Karl's cappuccino and 50/50. Karl's is London fog tea flavored and tastes interesting. 50/50 is black tea + decaf + condensed milk and on the sweet side. Limited indoor seating but more outside (just colder). Overall fun to try but not good enough to come again.

Dining at Hollywood Cafe (Fisherman’s Wharf) was such a wonderful experience! I ordered the grilled chicken fruit salad — the fresh berries paired perfectly with the juicy chicken and orange slices, making it both healthy and refreshing. I also had a latte with beautiful latte art; it was rich, smooth, and the perfect way to start the morning. The interior décor is unique, with classic Hollywood star photos on the walls, creating a relaxed and cozy atmosphere. The staff were friendly and attentive, and the food came out quickly. We had a lovely dinner here. The place is super cute with a really authentic vibe. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. And the food was amazing! We had the lobster ravioli and the seafood linguine. If you are hungrier go for the linguini because the serving is definitely larger. The bill came to $55 with no extras or drinks. Pretty good value for some excellent seafood pasta in a great place!

Sears Fine Food has been serving San Francisco since 1938, an absolute institution just off Union Square. The 18 famous pancakes, light, fluffy, absolute heaven in every bite. The eggs Benedict with smoked salmon, perfectly poached, silky salmon, hollandaise with just the right tang. And that thick-cut bacon, crispy on the outside, meaty and rich inside, proper bacon! Everything executed spot-on. A classic San Francisco gem still at its finest. Absolutely amazing.

Cozy and old timey place. Lots of good food options for reasonable prices. Went with the fish and chips, fisherman's platter, and I'm really happy with my choice. Got a bunch of calamari and some deep fried shrimps which were both delicious. The fish itself was also really good, not too heavy and not too light, crispy, flavorful and not dry. The chips is probably the weak point, a bit plain and boring. The coleslaw also didn't really add much but to have a bit of green on the plate. Lots of good beers on tap as well, thoroughly enjoyed that.

Firstly visited in 2014 and enjoyed great breakfast with the family. In 2025, returned to buy their pancakes mix, which is winning and delicious, for home cooking. Thanks for keeping up and sustaining such a nice historic place for several decades.

The cozy interior features a long bar where skilled bartenders expertly prepare the signature Irish coffee using Tullamore D.E.W.
My supervisor recommended i stop by and try the Irish Coffee and it was amazing. Bold and not overly sweet, it was just right. It was packed, but service was still friendly and fast. Cute spot for great views, excellent service, and delicious food. We all got the clam chowder in the bread bowl and gobbled up the whole thing. I love the whole vibe of the place and it is very reasonably priced for the area. Doesn’t feel too touristy while so many things around the area do. It’s always packed so you know it’s probably pretty good. Will be back when I’m in town again!

This place is a must visit on so many fronts when on the waterfront in San Francisco. A couple is the food for breakfast or lunch and their Irish Coffee experience. The Irish Coffees are a special free pour and is served hot with quite the bite. The places buzzes all day long with patrons for a meal and a beverage. The staff are well tuned to the atmosphere and remain engaged and friendly. Glad we visited, and had a bite to eat and a special coffee. It was instrumental to the enjoyment had at Fishermen's Wharf and the Embarcadero waterfront promenade.

If you’re looking for a historic San Francisco experience, The Buena Vista is an absolute must-visit. This place is legendary for a reason, they serve the original Irish Coffee, and it's a perfect blend of rich, hot coffee, sweet whiskey, and a decadent cream top. The atmosphere is always buzzing with people from all over the world, and the bartenders are masters of their craft, making a show out of every drink. It’s more than just a drink; it's a tradition, a warm and comforting treat that perfectly captures the city's charm. This place is a true San Francisco institution.
Tensai G — Google review
The Irish coffee here totally lives up to the hype. Watching the bartenders line up the glasses and pour everything with perfect timing is half the fun—it’s like its own show. The cream floats perfectly, you get that kick of whiskey, and it’s super smooth and rich. The place has that classic San Francisco bar vibe—old-school wood interior, bar stools, warm lighting. Yeah, it’s a tourist spot, but it’s got real character and history (it’s been around since 1916!). Plus, the location is great—right by Fisherman’s Wharf and Ghirardelli Square—so it’s an easy stop while you’re walking around the area. Definitely worth it for the drink and the atmosphere. Oh and don’t forget to ask for one Togo

Hectic dinner, the staff are busy and running, the food is great with plentiful servings and choices, and they do a great job of herding the masses. It's RSAC 2025, so the restaurant was packed. We had fresh tasty food, for onstage the perfectly poached eggs on avocado toast, and the corned beef hash and potatoes were fresh. Sausage had good taste. Toast served dry, which I don't prefer, as it's too cold to butter. Had to ask for coffee refill. Good end to end service from the time of walking in the door, great front end management, good cooks back there, fast wait staff. It was busy!

Went here and tried the Mel's burger which was really nice. I liked the extra thick bacon slices, the patty itself was just slightly overcooked, but besides that no real complaints. The fries were the usual thin ones, which are not my favourite but gets the job done. The iced tea was quite refreshing. The service was decent, while the server was nice and friendly, they did forget to remove the onions as I had requested plus forgot about giving me the receipt. Really cool place with some nice visuals, definitely feels like an old timey diner.

Perrys on the Embarcadero is a trendy waterfront restaurant with American cuisine that's popular with locals and tourists alike. With outdoor seating and views of the Bay, it's a great place to relax after a day spent sightseeing. The staff are friendly and welcoming, and the food is delicious - especially the Baby Back Ribs and Apple Brown Betty.
Got the chicken burger with sweet potato fries - food was decent, but the cozy vibe and patio seating with panoramic Bay Bridge views totally made up for it. I’d definitely come back just for the experience and the view alone.

Perry's on the Embarcadero, located at 155 Steuart Street, is a great spot close to my workplace. It offers more than just a beautiful waterfront view. Since its opening in 2008, Perry's has built on the tradition of the original Perry's on Union Street, which started in 1969. The aim was to bring a classic New York bar and grill feel to San Francisco. The restaurant has a rustic interior with exposed brick and offers a flexible dining experience. I have enjoyed after-work drinks and farewell gatherings here. The spacious corner seating comfortably accommodates our group of twenty or more, along with great service and tasty small bites. Perry's is perfect for many events. Sports fans will like the bar area, which has large TVs and attentive bartenders, so you won’t miss any action. On sunny days, the outdoor seating provides a refreshing atmosphere. Inside, there are cozy tables for smaller groups, and it’s easy to make reservations for larger parties. What sets Perry's apart is the high quality of their classic American dishes, which are made with fresh ingredients. I’ve had many satisfying lunches at the bar, where I could watch live soccer matches while enjoying their reliable menu. Whether it’s a casual lunch, post-work drinks, or a big celebration, Perry's on the Embarcadero offers a pleasant atmosphere, great service, and quality food.

We came here for dinner recently. It's a very nice restaurant with great views of the waterfront. Service was a little slow getting us our drinks and dessert. We ordered the roasted half chicken and the sole meuniere. For dessert we ordered the strawberry cake.

A lovely place with very professional attentive stuff and great food - we had grilled salmon with Israeli couscous, a smash burger and deviled eggs (they disappeared immediately :)) Couscous was just perfect - oily, springy little pearls with dots of diced sweet peppers and some sautéed spinach, a big pillowy bed for a juicy grilled salmon filet. Love from the first bite! The house red wine was full bodied and chocolatey :) Why three stars for the atmosphere? I personally don't like people walking next to the tables, but if you don't mind it - you'll love the place since the view is magnificent!

I made reservations a couple months back for our first dinner in SF. Although it's a casual place, based on my research, it seemed like a popular neighborhood and tourist spot and I knew after driving up from OC we didn't want to wait to eat on a busy Friday evening. Upon arrival, it didn't seem too crowded. Busy but there were still plenty of open tables and spots at the bar. I initially requested patio seating but my husband and son didn't want to be outside as it was slightly balmy. We were seated close to the windows instead to enjoy the view of the Bay Bridge. We ordered the following: - French Onion Soup: very good. Nice and cheesy, could use maybe some more bread underneath but it was solid. - Buffalo Wings: these come sauced and were really tasty! Still had a nice crunch and bite to it even though they were very saucy. - Fish & Chips: great batter on the fish, which was very meaty and flaky. Standard fries, forgettable coleslaw (does anyone even eat the coleslaw?) - Chicken BLTA: husband said this was fine. Tastes as expected! - Kids' Chicken Tenders: not sure if these are the same tenders on the regular menu but my son ate it all up and had no complaints. - Apple Brown Betty: this was a cinnamon apple crumble pie w/ vanilla ice cream on top. Very rice and delicious! - Strawberry Cake: this was literally the same cake you can get at Ralph's/Safeway, etc. They must all get it from the same supplier! Still good but def not made in-house. Total for dinner (including 3 glasses of wine, a Shirley Temple, a coffee, and tax/tip) was $205. Service was very good. Our server came by often enough and was always pleasant. New American restaurant
Tartine Manufactory is a spacious and vibrant spot located in the Mission district, known for its exceptional bread, pastries, and sandwiches. The bakery offers a variety of options including heritage grain loaves, sweet pastries, and rustic sandwiches. The sourdough crust on their pies is particularly noteworthy for its unique texture and flavor. In addition to the bakery, there's a coffee counter, ice cream window, and small wine bar available.
If you are a bread lover, head over to Tartine without a doubt. The quality, heartiness & freshness is amazing. We tried a bunch of things - croissant (classic), avocado toast (unique take with spicy nut salsa), the egg sandwich (so satisfying) and the mushroom chive cheese danish( umamified). The coffee beautifully compliments the meal. The place gives off an industrial chic vibe with bright windows pouring in nice daylight. Great breakfast/brunch place overall.

Tartine never stops exceeding my expectations. Every time I visit, I’m blown away. The sourdough bread is absolutely spectacular—perfectly tangy and elastic, a true testament to quality craftsmanship. All the ingredients are top-notch. The turkey sandwich was simply sublime. I especially want to highlight the hospitality and service of Juan. It’s clear he’s a genuinely kind person—gracious, attentive, and made us feel completely at home. His warmth truly elevated the experience. We’ll definitely be coming back to Tartine.

The croissant was so good with a proper crunch followed by soft buttery layers. The ham and cheese worked well together to make this a savory bite but it was surprising that the jalapeño slices were essentially like eating the raw pepper (not great - but overlooking it because the croissant was so good!). I wish the croissant was warmed as it probably would have taken it to the next level. That aside, lovely atmosphere at the Manufactory with lots of seating and natural light. They also seem to be using plates from the neighboring ceramics shop which was a nice touch. There was a short queue outside the building on a Saturday afternoon but it moved quickly.

13 of us dined here on a Saturday night for a birthday celebration. We had the fixed chefs menu, and to say that no one leaves hungry is an understatement! There was such an amazing variety of appetizers, salads, pizza, and desserts! We had five courses with 13 different menu items brought to the table shared family style. Our server was attentive and made sure we all had a special evening. I would highly recommend Tartine for any occasion if you want delicious food, a nice atmosphere, and excellent service!

Everything was delicious! We got the baked salmon tartine, omlette, a goat cheese fig pastry and coffee. We cleaned our plates! There is a bit of a wait to get in an order but TOTALLY worth it!! One of the best Brunch spots in the bay for sure.

Came here on a Saturday morning and wow the line was so long! Good: - The bread with butter was amazing even though it was just bread! - The egg sandwich was amazing - really liked the combo of cheese with the bread - The seating is plentiful and it's very beautiful inside, modern and upscale vibes Bad: - The line is definitely long, we waited about 45 min to get inside - The staff are always walking around and watching to make sure people aren't sitting for too long - it's nice but it's also a bit anxiety inducing Overall this place was beautiful inside, and glad that I finally got a chance to eat here!

Great option for brunch. The food was amazing and their wine options were fantastic for breakfast wine! There was a line outside but we realized it was line to order not to grab a table. The bread is delicious as well. My friend got the fig pastry and said it was perfect.
Dianne N — Google review
The sourdough bread is amazing. Super light and crunchy on the outside and moist and soft on the inside. A must order. The kale Caesar is a nice balanced Caesar salad. Would recommend. The crab gnocchi was super pillow-y soft and a lighter creaminess. The bit of lemon really helped the dish. In order of recommendation: bread > kale salad > crab gnocchi.

Pork Store Cafe is a beloved and historic spot in the Haight-Ashbury district of San Francisco that specializes in chicken fried steak, omelets, and pork chops for breakfast. The cafe dates back to 1916 and is known for its crispy hash browns, chicken apple sausage, and drool-worthy chicken and waffles.
Corn beef hash, pesto scrambled eggs, and tea. Was a really nice breakfast, reasonably priced with large portion sizes. Good selection on the menu too.

My avocado & chorizo omelette was delicious along with my side of hash browns. My omelette was cooked perfect with the chorizo filling busting with flavor. Waitress was very attentive and dining area was very well lit and spacious. But prices online do not reflect current prices on the menu.

***update (1 star deducted): went back to have the same bagel lox for breakfast, this time they took out the capers (I asked if they’re out of capers, she said no I will bring you some) and there was half of the lox on the plate compared to last time. That tells me this place is inconsistent.***Nice place, service and food. We had breakfast here and they serve a deconstructed lox bagel and it tastes amazing! Food quality and quantity is pretty good, highly recommend!

Ordered from the Mid Market Eats and was given fries that do not match the advertised curly fries. I want my money back today. This is absolutely ridiculous. See the pictures and refund me somehow. Not good business at all. Ill never come back here or any of your establishments.

This is a great place, it had a nice back patio which seems to be gone now, but the food is consistently very good and the person working here always seems to be very attentive and friendly. There is a tiny bit of sidewalk seating but it's sometimes a bit rough out there. The vegetarian options are good.

One of the few remaining breakfast spots who prepare a variety of tofu scrambles. The hashbrowns are also front and center being crispy on both sides while the center is creamy. Fountain drinks are usually flat...no bubbles. The service is good.

The Mill is a charming coffee shop and bakery located in the vibrant NoPa neighborhood of San Francisco. Founded by Jeremy Tooker of Four Barrel Coffee and Josey Baker of Josey Baker Bread, this cozy spot offers a simple yet delightful menu featuring their signature whole-grain sourdough toast topped with various delectable options like smashed avocado, cinnamon and sugar, or ricotta with seasonal housemade jam.
10/10. Absolutely unbearable spot for brunch or bread. One of my friends in DC told me that I *had* to try The Mill when I moved to SF — she would always come here every time she visited and take a few loaves of sourdough back to DC with her — and I can absolutely see why. The bread is absurdly tasty, with a great sourdough flavor blended with the heartiness of whichever whole grain they used in your bread of choice. Their toasts are a great way to sample the bread before committing to a whole loaf, and all of the toppings are outstanding. My favorites are their hummus toast and egg in a hole, both of which feature a super thick slice of their amazing bread, toasted to perfection and layered with tons of flavor. The egg in a hole comes with a perfectly poached egg with a gorgeous runny yolk, as well as a generous slathering of herb butter. The herbs really enhance the flavor of the bread, and I love the added richness from the egg. The hummus and tomato toast is just as delicious; the hummus gives the toast a lovely richness and creaminess, and the heirloom tomatoes add a fresh, sweet, and acidic bite. It’s topped with a bit of olive oil and sea salt, which further enhance all the flavors. Their toasts are undeniably expensive at $12-$20 each, but they are so very worth it. If you’re not in a bread mood, they also have a ton of delicious pastries! I’ve only tried my classic chocolate croissant — which was wonderfully buttery, flakey, and chocolatey — but they have many other options, ranging from the classics to some more unique selections. For coffee, they’re partnered with (or maybe a sister company of?) Four Barrel Coffee Roasters, so you can order their beautifully roasted beans here too. The espresso is wonderful on its own — I love their americanos — or in latte form. It can get extremely crowded here, especially on the weekends, so I’d either try to get here quite early or be prepared for a decently long wait, both to order and to find a spot to sit. There’s a good amount of seating, including the usual small tables and chairs, a giant communal table with over ten seats, and a long bench with little arm rests / tables along the back wall. Even so, they are rightfully extremely popular, so you might still need to take your toast / pastries / coffee to an outdoor table or a nearby park.
Sonya H — Google review
I can’t speak on the bread but I have only heard marvelous things about it. It smelled incredible. I already had a big lunch, so my stomach couldn’t fit any more solids. I got a coffee and enjoyed the ambiance. Light filled space with the perfect amount of background noise to focus. The smells are free, and that was truly the best part. Nicely curated bakery and cafe that I would totally sit and write or draw in if I lived nearby.
Shad B — Google review
I always love getting breakfast at the mill! The egg in a hole is my favorite followed closely by the avocado toast. The coffee is superb. My only notes are that this is a real work from home hot spot and all the tables are always filled with computers so that can be a bit of a buzz kill if your looking for a breakfast date. The outside parklet is nice but be sure to check for your food often.
Olivia H — Google review
Stopped by The Mill and everything was a hit. The cortado was perfect — smooth, balanced, and just the right size. Food-wise: • The Egg in the Hole was the standout — that garlic butter on the country bread is next-level. • The smoked trout toast came in a close second, fresh and flavorful. • The hummus + cauliflower toast was good, just not as memorable as the others. Wrapped it all up with a slice of the persimmon cinnamon pistachio crumble cake, which was absolutely outstanding — warm, spiced, and perfectly textured. Great vibe, friendly staff, and beautifully executed menu. Will definitely be back.
Avinash K — Google review
The Mill is a sweet very bright cafe with a welcoming vibe. Prices are definitely in the higher range (espresso $5 and cappuccino $6,50) I’ve decided to get an iced Americano with a salted chocolate pastry for my picnic because tables were occupied. Next time I’ll come in the afternoon when it’s not as busy.
Richard W — Google review
Good flaky pastries (some better than others), but the prices are beyond exaggerated. $17 for a slice of bread with very little on it is insane, especially for a trout toast that ended up being too salty. Ham and cheese croissant was flaky but lacking in filling, toma and squash bureka was also low on filling but very tasty, coffee chocolate crinkle cookie was good but way too expensive for one tiny cookie, and the babka was ok. Love that the place has outdoor seating which makes it dog friendly, but seating is limited, and the wait is very long. IMO - not worth it.
May H — Google review
Fun vibes for work or catching up with plenty of seating. No outlets or WiFi though. Good sized drink selection. Had an americano which was a good temperature and smelled great. Espresso may have been slightly over extracted due to the mildly acidic aftertaste. Would love to come back and try some of the bread!

Went on a Monday around 10 am and the place was already packed. Ordered an almond butter toast and a latte and the total turned out to be $18…not rly worth it in my opinion. Bread was good but some parts of it was hard to cut so I struggled a bit, and the latté was just average. It’s a cute place to catch up with someone but it’s also hard to get seating since everyone seems to have their laptop and working.

Gréât for hosting your next Brunch get together. Reasonably priced mimosas and equally pleasant options for dining indoors and out. The French toast was delicious with a perfect Amount of glazing. Our server couldn’t have been better

Great vibes. Food was overall pretty good but no standouts. We tried the baked Mac and cheese (pretty standard taste), the cornbread was dry, the gumbo a little watery. The fried chicken was done very nicely though. Dive bar vibes

So everyone knows now that I am a foodie. I have been here several times without posting a picture of my food. Today I purposely am doing so because this place although hidden away by a alley is a gem in the Mission area. I arrived around 6p.m after my Art Gallery event in Castro. It was packed only seating was @ the bar, I ordered a charbroiled Angus burger with loads of blue cheese with Cajun fries. I also order a refreshing and unusual cocktail with bitters called "Respect your Elders" made with Elderflowers and European bitters . It was so disarmingly good and subtle. That burger was perfectly done with all the fixings and a variety of hot sauces on the side, those fries were crispy and delicious. I was pleasantly full. Next time I got to try the fried chicken with Mac & cheese and collard greens on the side. The patron next to me said it also is delicious. I would give this restaurant a 10 just for the food but, the staff and owners get some love for making people feel welcomed.

First time here and will definitely come back! The food was AMAZING! ordered the Dr. Pepper braised short rib with grits and collard greens, and also the sweet tea braised pork chop with navy bean rice and cauliflowerini. Recommend both! Had the sweet tea that was sweetened with agave, delicious! The fried pickles are a must along with the beignets! The vibe was adorable. Definitely gives the southern feels and mood! Service was 5 stars all around!!!!

Came here before clubbing one night w a friend and gotta say, perfect way to start off a night. The atmosphere & vibes of the place were so comforting yet aesthetically pleasing. Did lit with the only lights coming from the bar/a little lamp on your table. We ordered their fried chicken with collard greens and mash potatoes as well as their hush puppies as a starter. Both were insanely good, especially the hush puppies. We also got the "respect your elders" and the "porch swing" (which we asked to make a little sweeter) and both were so delicious as well. Paired very well with our food & was a heavy pour! Would love to come back again and try more.

If you’re on a quest for fried goodness, look no further than The Front Porch! This charming spot serves up fried pickles that are the perfect balance of crispy and tangy, making them an addictive appetizer—you might just find yourself ordering seconds! And then there’s the fried chicken. Oh, sweet poultry perfection! With a golden crust that crackles with each bite and juicy meat that’s reminiscent of Sunday dinners at Grandma's, it's comfort food at its finest. Grab your friends, but be warned: you might just end up fighting over the last crispy piece! Fingers crossed they have extra!

Then he tells me "Hey...If you help me set up the Ringler's Loppner on my roof, we can walk the half block over to the Front Porch Restaurant for a chicken dinner" Well, that was enough for me, I was all in! Ever since my pal Hoebiscus Quinnipias raved about the place on his Podcast I've been planning on going there, and today's the day for The Front Porch! Let me just say this about the whole experience....WOW! 5 ☆☆☆☆☆

I am but a small soul, so this was sooo much food! Crazy crunchy friend chicken but slightly dry and the meat was a bit underseasoned? Some might say I’m being picky. If you want a classic cheaper breakfast, this is the spot for you. They aren't trying to go crazy. They got the basics and that's good enough for a chill breakie spot. I enjoyed it but nothing to write home about. Pro tip - no wait list so come here if other places back out. 7.9/10

I visited Toast for a lunch outing with my mom. She’s at an age where she doesn’t eat much, so we usually share a main dish and order an extra side. The restaurant wasn’t particularly busy—just a few tables with small groups—so I was surprised that it took about 17 minutes for our food to arrive. I was keeping an eye on the time because we had another appointment right after lunch. We ordered the Eggs Benedict with hash browns. It was fine, nothing memorable but it did the job. I’d rate it a 4 out of 5. We also added a short stack of pancakes, which unfortunately was disappointing. The pancakes were dry and had a bitter flavor. When I flipped them over, I saw they were burned on the bottom. We didn’t have time to send them back, so we just let it go, but it was a clear miss—2 out of 4 for that. Service also left something to be desired. Our waiter wasn’t very attentive and it took a while to get our water refilled. I’d give the service a 3 out of 5. Overall, I’d rate Toast a 3 out of 5. It wasn’t a bad experience, but it wasn’t great either. I’m not in a hurry to return, though I wouldn’t completely write it off for the future.

Toast was warm at best.... I saw him washing dishes in a handwashing sink (healthcode violation in SD) service was fast but food was nothing special. The atmosphere is the main draw giving the 1950s feel. There's probably better.

The food was okay, but nothing special. My poached egg was overcooked, not runny at all. The chilaquiles were really tasty though, I’d recommend:) we ordered them with scrambled eggs and they came with a sunny side up, but it was still tasty.

Went here on a Wednesday morning, and it was packed. Parking was easy to find in the street, but had to pay $2.50 an hour. We were a group of 5, and to get seated, we waited about 15 minutes, which wasn't a lot. There was only one person working (taking orders, cleaning up, making the drinks, and charging people). Two other people were cooking in the kitchen. One of the people in the kitchen forgot to do one of our dishes. Once we let them know, the dish came out in like ten minutes. Once we were done, we had to wait for the person who was working by herself to give us the check and pay. I had to use the restroom, and it was by the restroom. The kitchen did not look clean, and the floor looked filthy. This place needs more staff, deep cleaning, and more communication between staff.

A San Francisco diner. Get at good start to your day with a breakfast from toast. Fresh OJ, good coffee and awesome breakfast staples from the U.S. and beyond. The heuvos rancheros were authentic but I could’ve used a bit of chorizo to take it over the edge. The egg sandwich was on point and it was a very nice size. All in all the service was great the food was good at this neighborhood joint.

I dropped my car off for its scheduled tune-up and decided to walk around the neighborhood on Polk Street to find a place to eat. It was around 8:00 AM on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, and several places I checked were either closed for the day or not yet open. After a while, I found Taste Eatery and walked in. The place isn’t very big, but it is well set up. I took a seat by the window facing the counter. There were two guys working behind the grill and a young waitress taking care of the floor. She brought me the menu, but I had already decided what I wanted before stepping in, as there was a menu posted outside on the door. Since I was on Polk Street, it made sense to order the Polk Street omelet! I also asked for a cup of drip coffee. The coffee was good, as was the omelet. I even got a refill for my coffee. To be honest, I found everything to be just fine, but not exceptional, and that was perfectly acceptable to me. I enjoyed a solid breakfast, paid, and walked out fully satisfied.

Immediately when I walked in, I felt a warm welcome. I came solo so I sat at the dining counter which is the best seat ion the house. Everyone worked well together and my food and drinks were prepared quickly. I had the fried catfish, green salad, fries, and red beans & rice and I cleaned my plate. I recently had breakfast at Brenda’s Meat & Three in San Francisco, and it was such a delightful experience from start to finish! The moment we walked in, we were greeted by Alicia, the general manager, who made us feel completely at home. She was genuinely kind, attentive, and incredibly helpful, the type of person who makes you feel like a valued guest rather than just another customer. We ordered the two eggs your way combo, and it was exactly what a satisfying breakfast should be. What made this visit truly memorable was the care and attention we received from Alicia and the team. The atmosphere inside is casual and inviting, with a comfortable neighborhood feel that makes you want to linger over your coffee. If you’re looking for delicious comfort food served with a side of genuine hospitality, Brenda’s Meat & Three should be at the top of your list. Went to this location for the first time after trying the original location near the tenderloin. Tried the $5 Messy mess chicken sandwich. Also had the crawfish beignets and one ube beignets. The sandwich was ridiculously delicious! The chicken was so flavorful and the flavor penetrated the meat deep inside. I wish I bought two because I was sharing. The crawfish beignets were just as good as the first location. So meaty and full of crawfish. The ube beignet is still my favorite and my biggest recommendation! The service was friendly and fast. Location was so clean!

All of the stars aligned when our group of 9 were able to grab dinner at Brenda’s (despite not having a reservation)!! We initially resigned on having to do takeaway - but magically all the seating at the bar opened up (this was also within the last hour of opening)!! The food was absolutely delicious, generously portioned, and clearly made with a lot of love and care. My sister in law absolutely LOVED the Low Country Gumbo, my husband loved the meatloaf and cheesy grits, and I really loved the Our Burger, the fried chicken which was well seasoned and crispy to perfection!!! As one would hope, the sides had us full of lots of ummms and aaaaaaas - and you would be remiss if you visit and don’t try the mac and cheese & collard greens! All of their team were super friendly, and answered all our questions. The restaurant has a super cozy and trendy vibe, and I would say this is a must-visit for anyone craving authentic soul food done right!!

I absolutely LOVED coming to this Brenda’s! I’ve been to their other location in Oakland so I knew I was in for a treat. You can tell that the chefs cook with care, the flavor is always immaculate and the warmth could heal you from the inside out🥹 This was my first time trying their gumbo and I got a decent amount of seafood in it which I definitely appreciated. Plus the French roll was nice and crispy while soaking up the stew😍 heavenly My friend got the shrimp and grits, and I have to say, when I tried a bite of hers I knew that was what I needed to order the next time because OMG FLAVOR (I’d say if you’re deciding between the grits and the gumbo, go with the grits; Either way you’ll be satisfied so it’s really a win/win situation) The beignets came out fresh and hot (AS THEY SHOULD) Absolutely delicious and thick with no air pockets inside. Those things were huge! My friend and I had one each and took the last one to go! In terms of ambience, this place has a unique charm and I loved their bar area in the middle; It made everything feel homey and connected. A true diner experience. Plus the service was great! Kind attentive staff that represented the heart of a soul food restaurant 🥹🙂‍↕️ I’ll definitely be back to this location for some of those grits!!

Okay, I've only been here once, but I gotta say, it's a really cool spot. Once you're in, it's like you're back in the 1940s-50s. Very old-school, classic feel to the decor and everything. I mean, it's been around since 1918, and I assume not too much has changed from the looks of it. I love that they have vegetarian/vegan/lactose intolerant friendly menu choices. I got the "Veggie Mess" and freshly squeezed OJ. It's basically a very thick omelet. Scrumptious and a generously filling portion for a reasonable price. I am certainly stoked to come back and try more of the menu. They have a vintage candy counter which is definitely an interesting browze and includes old trading cards.

Step back into decades past and enjoy greasy-spoon classics — updated without the grease. Wooden booths, vinyl bar seating and pineapple with cottage cheese evoke a 1950s feel. Standard diner sandwiches, milkshakes, breakfast and egg platters. The burger well-cooked, savory and served with an all-encompassing special sauce. Yummy and creative sides include a garlicky mac and cheese or a Thai sesame salad. Breakfast burrito, a real treat. Prices very, very reasonable.

This establishment is darling! A blast from the past with friendly service and great food! There are two dining areas, both decorated cute. Many vegan, dairy-free, and gluten free options here! I ordered the vegan mess. Note, the soy-rizo is likely not GF! So ask the waiter. I’d absolutely come back here for breakfast or brunch!

Eddie's Cafe, a long-standing corner diner, has been serving up homey and hearty breakfast and lunch since 1974. Originally catering to the primarily African-American communities of Western Addition and Fillmore, the restaurant offered Southern comfort food like stewed oxtail, fried chicken and waffles, and grits. Under new ownership, the focus shifted to breakfast classics while maintaining the Southern flair.
Eddie’s Cafe is hands down the best breakfast diner in San Francisco. Family-owned and full of charm, it’s got that perfect mix of friendly vibes and delicious food. Whether you’re with family, on a casual date, or in need of a solid hangover cure, this place hits the spot. They serve all the classic breakfast and lunch favorites, and everything is made just right. I lived in SF for years and was a regular-on my first trip back, Eddie’s was a must-visit, and it did not disappoint!

Called in here after visiting the Painted Ladies in Alamo square and had a great experience. The staff are friendly, chatty and welcoming while the food is top notch. Good to be in a local one-off place rather than a chain establishment. Would recommend if you are nearby.

Stopped for breakfast yesterday while visiting my daughter in Hayes Valley. I was greeted with a warm smile and had engaging conversation with Ami while I enjoyed my breakfast at the counter. Delicious chicken apple sausage, eggs and hash brown. Great spot!

Fantastic little diner! Perfectly done bacon, delicious biscuits, fresh fruit with the waffles. Service was very kind, and the portions are generous, and it’s FAST! Love this spot.

Popular spot with decent breakfast food. Wouldn't say the food was outstanding, but the place has good vibes. Wasn't a big fan of the sausage patties but they were ok. Eggs were standard, but the pancakes were great and I was quite full afterward. The diner is decorated with lots of SF Giants bobbleheads. 멋있어요!

First ate here in 2013 and have talked about it ever since. Their bacon is a favorite, and everything else we've had was wonderful. Wonderful family.

i was leaving boba guys with an appetite so i popped in for a quick bite. the vibe is great, staff is awesome and you can see they get a long. food is exactly what you ask for. very simple and made to order. it was super comfortable and yummy eats. (nothing remarkable i can’t lie but it’s good) the service was attentive and kind. it’s quite small but awesome if you love bar top diner seating. but what makes this place truly special; my bill was less than $40 for 2 people…. i didn’t know prices like that still existed. god bless san fran 😭

Love Eddie's. I've been going here for two decades. Their food is solid and reliably prepared right. Hash browns are old school and done right and best in town. Prices are good. Great atmosphere and friendly staff that remember you and greet you warmly. This is the kind of homey neighborhood diner that's hard to find in a big city these days.

Palm House is a vibrant and tropical-themed hangout located on Union Street. The restaurant offers a Caribbean-inspired menu with a variety of bites and frozen cocktails. The lively interior is beautifully decorated, and there is also heated outdoor seating for prime people-watching. While the food may not be the highlight, the unique decor and atmosphere make it a popular spot for visitors to return to time and time again. The restaurant's tropical-themed decor gives off Florida or Louisiana vibes, adding to its unique charm.
Great Food and Atmosphere! First stop in San Francisco and had a great Pina Colada and Mother Clucker Chicken Sandwich. Free Coffee as well from 12-4, perfect for “WFH”. Totally recommend if you’re looking to relax

May 2025 Cali resto bar along trendy Union St provides three separate areas - semi al fresco, indoor, and a pool room / bar section. Food is a mix of Cali carribean style cuisine much that of the Westcoast vibe and flavours. Lunch service staff was pretty lean but accomidating and prompt. As mentioned the place is very casual. Bright at the entrance and dark in the pool room area. The bar counter is at the mid section. Each section best serves different types of diners and times but overall its more as a social place and bar feel.

This place is definitely a vibe, great spot on Union Street if you’re in the mood for drinks. The cocktails were delicious (loved the piña colada!), but smaller than expected, they do have those giant drinks if you’re going all in. On the food we tried the fried rice and island breakfast, both were solid, but nothing standout. The real draw here is the fun, tropical decor and unique energy that sets it apart from the usual Union Street spots.

Food: 3/5 Service: 3/5 Ambiance: 4/5 Overall: A good option for the area if you want something with a Caribbean flare. The extended review... Food: Lemongrass coconut prawns - 3/5 - Not a bad tasting dish but could always use more shrimp. Service: 3/5 - Standard service. Ambiance: 4/5 - A nice ambiance both inside and out.

I came to visit Palm House ON MY ACTUAL BIRTHDAY when I made the reservation I included that in my request no greeting no happy birthday from the staff (poor customer service #1). Immediately getting there I was excited because the place WAS cute! But the issue was once seated I was told everything was self served so no waiter. When my food came out it was cold and the seasoning on the fries was not there like I ordered and the drink was like juice barely any alcohol taste to it and when I paid for my bill I totally forgot to tip! I’m a huge tipper even the circumstance of having to order my own food and then just bringing it to me. But I was in a rush for my movie date so I left abruptly. Do you know 2 days after leaving SF and going home the charge their own tip to my card when they processed all the bills! I was pissed because not only was the service garbage and the people were stale in energy I was over charged for my meal by them deliberately taking a tip. Terrible experience because I understand me not tipping but it wasn’t my intent but to make my birthday and experience where I can’t trust this establishments professionalism that was too much too bad I will never go back! And the chicken sandwich was MID! nothing spectacular about it just some gentrified kids in the neighborhood over charging for lack luster experience.

The decor in here is amazing, it’s a place that makes you feel like you are not in a big city! It feels tropical and the vibes are fun, lots of good music and decor is amazing. Food is great, as are drinks, would definitely recommend the pina colada. The drinks are also pretty strong!! We thought the drink price was worth the drink for sure. Some food portions were pretty small, but the prices are good! Service is order over the phone and they deliver food and drinks I am sure they get busy.

I came here with a fellow foodie to try the SF Restaurant Week dinner menu on the weekend. We had a reservation, but they informed us that they had already sold out of the items. Unfortunately, there wasn't an option to reserve spots specifically for the SF Restaurant Week set meal. While we were disappointed that we couldn't try the items on the special menu, we found several other items on their online menu, available via QR code on the table, that sounded good. We tried the brussels sprouts and coconut shrimp as appetizers and got the pineapple fried rice as our main dish to share. All the food was great and priced fairly. What's nice about the online menu is it allows you to request certain ingredients of the dishes be put on the side and even split the check with other dinner guests. This place gets an A+ for service and efficiency. The only issue other than the SF Restaurant Week menu not being available was the high level of noise inside the restaurant. I sometimes had to yell a bit to talk to my friend, so it would've been nice if things were a bit quieter. I think next time I would opt to eat outdoors when it's warmer, as it seems calmer, and the outdoor patio in front of the restaurant is beautifully decorated and gives a vacation vibe.

Nestled in a cozy corner, New Taraval Cafe has been a beloved breakfast spot for over three decades. This charming, family-owned diner boasts vibrant pink walls adorned with local photography and is currently managed by Stanley Lui. The menu features an array of traditional American breakfast dishes alongside unique offerings like the hearty Irish breakfast and the indulgent loco moco. With its limited seating comprising booths and bar stools, the atmosphere feels intimate and welcoming.
Delicious comfort food at a neighborhood cafe. I had the breakfast sandwich with bacon and hash browns and coffee. Generous refills on the coffee and a very yummy sandwich. My husband had the chilaquiles and really enjoyed them. Plentiful hot sauce choices. The cafe is family owned and a great spot for lunch or brunch.

Went here for breakfast with my sister. I had the New Taraval breakfast special and my sister had the two egg breakfast. Everything was great. We'd never been before, but now we understand why it's a neighborhood institution owned and operated by the same family for over 30 years. The service was outstanding. Everyone was incredibly friendly and welcoming. One of the cooks even makes his own hot sauce, which they have out on all of the tables. It was so good that I had to buy a bottle (and ask him to take a picture with it).

The staff is known for their friendliness and the fantastic food they serve, particularly their perfected pancakes and eggs. This is a nice little place to pick up or dine in for a traditional diner meal. The food was quickly served and well prepared. Generous portions. A little high priced but so many places are post COVID. Worth returning for another meal.

Wonderful place to eat, walking distance from where we were staying. Food was delicious. It was a Monday morning not sure when they do orders but they were out of items I would have ordered, eggwhites and English muffins. Other than that this is a must go to for a good old fashioned breakfast!

Fun diner spot, honestly most of the food was really good for the price. We got blueberry pancakes, a breakfast burrito, orange juice, and the California omelette. Everything aside the orange juice (not good, wouldn’t order again) and the burrito (would’ve asked to swap out the cheese since it was American, but otherwise not bad) were great. The guy cooking everything was a machine and very efficient. Three employees worked together to take orders, serve and cook. Honestly surprised there was no line since Cafe arte down the street was so busy. I’d come back here over Cafe Arte for sure.

Service was good. The food was horrible. I can’t believe we spent $45 on two meals that looked like it had been pulled from an oven and two days old. The bacon and potatoes were definitely not made that day even.

Very mid overall. Old school diner vibes, friendly staff. But $21 before tip for French toast, 2 eggs, and bacon with coffee seems a bit high for this quality and style of food.

Nestled in the heart of San Francisco, Hard Knox Cafe has been a beloved destination for Southern comfort food since 1999. With its funky and welcoming atmosphere, this eatery draws locals and visitors alike, often resulting in a wait to get a taste of their homestyle dishes. The menu boasts mouthwatering options like crispy fried chicken served atop fluffy buttermilk waffles drizzled with syrup—a true indulgence that’s hard to resist.
I came in on a drizzly day, wanting a burger. Mission accomplished. My burger was really good! I needed to get some work done and they let me sit in my booth for as long as I’d liked because it wasn’t as busy at the time. I stayed so long and watched other people’s food come out of the kitchen, as well as the delicious smell that I ordered a piece of chicken and a side of greens and cornbread. It was yummy! I will definitely be back because they had a good menu selection, the service was great, and the atmosphere was cozy.

We had the Cajun Shrimp Balls, Spicy Fried Chicken, Fried Catfish, Macaroni, Greens, Yams, Red Beans & Rice and Beignets. All food was good and portions were plenty. Our waitress was so kind, service infused with love! Bomb 10/10, would recommend !

I have been here a couple times, funny thing was I never knew about this place when I used to be a student at a nearby school. The place is pretty compact so waits are pretty normal, but that does not bother me since I have high patience. Well trained and friendly staffs made my visits very enjoyable. The food here is made from scratch so it’s always worth the wait. They offer many delicious and unique southern fusion dishes. I highly recommend this place to anyone that wants to try something new or just love to eat since it’s not one of those hyped up spots. Definitely will be back!

I was visiting my nephew’s family from out of town last week. We visiting this popular neighborhood diner last Saturday and it did not disappoint! We agreed to meet for breakfast. My nephew has a nearly two year old and we wanted to meet at a place where we could enjoy a hearty brunch that was comfortable and reasonably priced. Hard Knox checked all the boxes and then some. It was a charming cafe in an obviously family friendly neighborhood. It had great vibes and we immediately felt right at home. My husband and I both ordered the Hard Knox omelette and loved it! Fresh ingredients, savory and satisfying! The coffee was excellent and the service was outstanding. Our waitress was welcoming and thoughtful. She knew our nephew’s family and made us feel right at home.

An outstanding southern comfort eatery deep in the Richmond. You’re definitely leaving with the “itis” after eating here. Very good portions at reasonable prices served in a family friendly environment. Number one is going have to go to the smothered pork chop, excellent. A close second is the blackened catfish, suggested by our waiter. Delicious. The fried chicken had a wonderful flavor to it. Successful. The sides all delivered as promised and the corn muffins were awesome. This is definitely a place for gatherings and families. Dos thumbs up 👍👍

Little Skillet is a popular spot in SoMa that offers classic chicken and waffles, along with specialty cocktails and a jazz brunch, creating a hip vibe. The restaurant started as an alleyway walk-up window, known for its irresistible scent of fried food and vibrant atmosphere. In 2014, it expanded to include a bar counter at Victory Hall & Parlor next door for indoor dining options.
Happen to come across this joint on my way to the Giants game. If you're looking for a soul food with character, great music, and downright delicious eats, Little Skillet is a must-visit. Tucked away near Oracle Park, this hidden gem serves up Southern classics that hit all the right notes. The biscuits? Buttery and flakey perfection served with honey butter. The blackened shrimp with grits was flavorful, and balanced. The fried shrimp with mashed potatoes? A combo that's both indulgent and deeply satisfying. And the fried chicken? Crispy, juicy, and everything you'd hope for from a true Southern kitchen. Little Skillet delivers big on taste, with a warm and welcoming atmosphere that makes you feel right at home. Whether you're a local or just passing through, this hole-in-the-wall is worth seeking out. Highly recommend!

I recently visited The Little Skillet in San Francisco with my mom and sweetheart, and it was an exceptional experience. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, making us feel right at home from the moment we walked in. The food was nothing short of fantastic—crispy fried chicken, perfectly seasoned grits, melt-in-your-mouth cornbread, and indulgent chicken and waffles that hit every note. My sweetheart’s shrimp and grits and my mom’s catfish were equally delicious, showcasing the restaurant’s mastery of Southern comfort food. The service was friendly and attentive, adding to the overall welcoming vibe. Whether you’re with family or on a date, The Little Skillet is the perfect spot for soul-satisfying meals and an unforgettable dining experience. Highly recommend!
Lo S — Google review
Don't be fooled by the good picture I took! I came to Little Skillet with high hopes. A spot serving Black American comfort food? Count me in. After years of avoiding fried chicken here in the States, I thought this might finally be the place to break that streak. Unfortunately, I was wrong. The fried chicken was a major letdown—bland, under-seasoned, and tasting mostly of old oil. Not the soulful, flavorful bite I was expecting. I also tried the collard greens for the first time, but they didn’t win me over either; aside from an overcooked jalapeño thrown in, they lacked depth and character. The grits didn’t help matters, plain, with an odd hard crust in the middle that made for an unpleasant surprise. Service was another disappointment: it took long just to place an order, and the wait for the food felt like a 5 business days wait. Considering the high prices, the whole experience simply wasn’t worth it. For real soul food, I’ll hold out until my next trip back to New Orleans.
Hamidah R — Google review
I was looking for a good soul food restaurant in San Francisco, but this wasn’t it. Their restaurant is super cute, however the food was lack luster. The fried chicken was fried well, but lacked seasoning and flavor. The mac and cheese had breadcrumbs on top and that should have been a sign. My boyfriend had shrimp and grits and that was very disappointing. The grits had no flavor and they just put canned tomatoes on top instead of making a sauce or a rue. It wasn’t busy in the restaurant, however the service was very slow. We ordered our food using Toast, but the waiter came over to tell us that he had a big party on the other side and we may not see him for awhile. I watched my overly sweetened sweet tea sit on the counter for awhile and just when I was about to go pick it up, another waiter brought it over. Nobody really came over to check on us. I had to ask several times for a to-go box and a bag. I won’t be returning.

Came here with a friend before going to watch Lady Gaga. First off this is not a good place to bring a first date. Music way to loud, can't hear. My friends waffle was undercooked, though they did replace it, but didn't offer us anything. Fryer oil needs to be changed. Fried chicken was good, but too dark, and tasted burnt. Their mac and cheese tasted like it was reheated in a microwave and had a weird taste. The little biscuits were cold and dry. My fried paid with a credit card and the waiter forgot to return the card, but brought it after. I don't recommend this place.
Chef T — Google review
I had high hopes walking into this restaurant, but unfortunately, the experience left me wondering what exactly people are raving about. The chicken was completely unseasoned bland to the point of being forgettable. The syrup had an odd, almost artificial flavor that didn’t pair well with anything on the plate. The cornbread? Tiny and dry, with a taste that was outright unpleasant. I’ve had better from a box mix, and that’s saying something. Speaking of boxed foods, the waffles didn’t even resemble waffles in taste or texture. Honestly, I’d prefer some frozen Eggo waffles over whatever that was. The macaroni and cheese, usually a soul food staple, was the final straw. I was tempted to say it tasted like KFC’s, but that would’ve been an insult to KFC. The prices are outrageous for what you get, and the overall vibe just didn’t feel authentic. There wasn’t a single soul food flavor in sight, and surprisingly, the only Black person I saw during the visit was the bartender. It felt less like a soul food experience and more like a poorly executed imitation. And not to mention, they played no authentic black music, very odd for a soul food place. And with the lack of black people, the watermelon felt… racist? Odd? Save your money and try another spot. This place is all hype and no heart.
Aaliyah R — Google review
A horrible strong smell of bad fish when we walked in the door should have been enough reason…. But the place was so cute the deco and “vibe” were amazing…. Duped definitely duped. All three in my party ordered the works. One with Mac n cheese, one with grits and the other french fries. Mac and cheese was spoiled grits were sour and the waffle batter was right along those lines of definitely going to make someone sick! Brought to the attention of the server/manager who did not even remove the dishes from in front of us but proceeded to ask if we wanted to try something else or have our items remade. We politely declined he left to inform the kitchen and came back with more food anyways…. That was still spoiled!!!! Everything was left on the table he could have cared less we didn’t eat and we’re still handed the check for $82. My friends who were buying lunch are a big blessing for this place cuz they actually paid the bill before we got up and walked out….. beware!!! Quite a few good reviews but not any too recently please don’t eat here!

The atmosphere and staff are nice but this restaurant is a disgrace to “soul food”. It’s so terribly bland and finding out it’s not even black owned isn’t surprising because of the food. If you want better chicken and waffles go to cracked and battered or Brenda’s soul food.

They would prefer everyone in the party to be there before they sit you. Love the fact that there’s pork chops and other items like chicken fried steak on their breakfast menu rather than just the usually eggs and bacon that every other cafe offers. Food is really good and well worth the 20mins drive we made from the other side of town. Will be back again soon!

Found this in google the night before looking for a tatsy breakfast option. I was skeptical since this place is in a touristy area but omg, our breakfast burrito was delicious. The food and service was top notch, probably one of the best breakfast spots I have ever had. Very nice people with a uplifting atmosphere. Update: Been already back several times in May and June when I was back in town. It was the same great experience as the last two times. The food is awesome and the staff the greatest I've seen for a long time. Will be back for sure in September...! ---- Were there twice during the last 10 days. The food is fresh made and absolutely delicious and with affordable prices. The service is very attentive and friendly. The business kept its charme from the good ole days. It's gonna be my favorite spot for breakfast and lunch in Haight/Ashbury. Highly recommended...!

Terrible avoid. Rude "service" and disgusting food. I ordered coffee and eggs in a nest what a mistake. The waitress decided to yell loudly about what I was putting in my coffee. Why?!? Who knows but be careful, if they don't like how you like your coffee they will serve you burned food. See pic. In fact, the waitress didn't seem interested in the pile of burned food that she threw in front of until I started this review and took a picture of her handy work. Burn toast and judgemental behavior what a great way to start a Saturday. Terrible. Well Mike the problem was the waitress and her attitude which you seemed to gloss over in your " response" . Thanks for the burned food and call out online. Why would I ever want to give you any more money ? Keep burning perfectly good food for people who drink coffee in a way that you don't agree with I'm sure that's what life is all about . As far as your food I'm sure if it wasn't burned it wouldn't have tasted so bad. -1 if negative reviews were possible I'm sure you have plenty.

tl;dr: Hearty, classic diner brunch with a corned beef hash Benedict worth daydreaming about. Service can lag when it's busy, and the restrooms need some TLC, but the vintage charm and flavor-packed plates make it a satisfying stop for a leisurely weekend morning. If you are craving a no-frills American diner breakfast elevated just enough to make it memorable, Pork Store Cafe delivers. The corned beef hash Benedict is a flavor bomb with perfectly poached eggs over savory, crispy-edged hash, smothered in rich hollandaise. Portions are generous without being overwhelming. Service is warm but slow, especially when the place is buzzing, so this is better for a relaxed morning than a quick bite. Atmosphere is pure diner nostalgia with vinyl booths, laminated menus, and the comforting clatter from the kitchen. The restrooms could be cleaner and more accessible, but overall, it is a fun and delicious brunch spot for those who appreciate a classic American breakfast experience.

Great breakfasts and great hang over cure! Staff is always gracious and efficient. Seems to be more tourists than I remember but still many locals enjoying their food. Try the Piggy special or the the pork chops and hash. Both great and sure to keep you satisfied until dinner.

Nestled in the charming Outer Sunset, Judahlicious is a delightful beach cafe that focuses on serving up locally sourced, organic delights. This vibrant spot specializes in raw and vegan offerings, making it an ideal destination for health-conscious foodies. Their menu boasts a variety of options including refreshing acai bowls, hearty house chili, and gluten-free Belgian-style waffles.
YUM. As a health food-oriented vegan, I’m can be so choosy that there’s usually only a couple dishes that entice me even at vegan restaurants. But at Judahlicious, I had a tough time deciding what to get because almost every single item on the menu sounded AMAZING. The raw section - wow. (Always a good sign when there’s a raw section.) The smoothie section - crazy. The hot food section really spoke to me, and I went with the 1/2 nekked burrito. I’m not entirely sure why it was named that way, but it was basically the perfect burrito. I opted for the corn tortilla, which was thick and delicious and homemade. Absolutely loved the black beans, brown rice(!!), grilled veggies, and cashew creme (made with olive oil!) and the mixed green salad topped with delicious walnut parmesan rounded it out into the perfect meal. Satisfying and filling in a light, healthy way. Cannot wait to come back here hopefully soon (and really enjoyed visiting Other Avenues Grocery Cooperative right around the corner).

Judahlicious – San Francisco Amid the clamor of Judah Street, Judahlicious stands firm—an unshaken outpost of nourishment and quiet benevolence. We arrived early, seeking breakfast not just to fill the stomach, but to greet the day with intention. The Waffle Açaí was both hearty and refreshing, marrying the crisp warmth of waffles with the chilled vigor of açaí—a contrast that, like life, balances sweet with substance. The Nekked Burrito reminded us that food need not be overcomplicated to be fulfilling. Unadorned yet complete, it offered grounding flavors wrapped in simplicity. We shared the Velvet smoothie—banana, peanut butter, and oat milk—a drink that held the dignity of restraint, yet soothed like an old truth rediscovered. While we dined, a man without a home asked for juice. It was granted without fuss or spectacle. In that quiet act, there was more nourishment than any menu could hold. Judahlicious feeds body, mind, and, on occasion, spirit.

Judahlicious is a true standout in San Francisco’s Sunset District, especially for anyone seeking vibrant, plant-based cuisine. From the moment I walked in, I was struck by the welcoming vibe and earthy aesthetic that mirrored their commitment to conscious eating. The flavors in every dish I tried were both bold and beautifully balanced. Whether you're vegan, plant-curious, or just love great food, Judahlicious is worth the visit. Fresh, flavorful, and ethical what more could you want <3

100% vegan!! This place is really really good! Their Nekked Burrito is yum! Waffles and Açaí Bowls are super yummy and healthy! We tried their new menu item “burmosa” which is supposed to be a Samosa Burrito… however don’t recommend eating that. It does not taste like Samosa at all .. I would stick to other items on their menu.

This place was awesome. If you are vegan and want a good variety of healthy food, this place is great. Definitely recommend. It’s in a more quiet and residential location of San Francisco so parking is not too difficult to find. The service was good and friendly and the food seemed fresh. Good, filling portions as well.

Hands down one of the best if not the best açai in city!! I can’t wait to try their pancakes
Vasileia S — Google review
TLDR: one item was decent but the other was very bland and an expensive dessert The rice bowl was pretty tasty though a bit one note in flavor. As for the burrito, it looks like a good plate of food but honestly it was very bland. On top of that, we got a $7 raspberry square and it tasted like an expensive granola bar, highly not worth it.

Mission Bowling Club is a retro-style bowling alley in the Mission district, featuring six lanes, a full bar, and an attached restaurant serving upscale comfort food. The Front Porch, located nearby, offers Southern hospitality with its funky decor and delicious fried chicken. During brunch hours, you can enjoy their famous fried chicken atop a cornmeal waffle with bacon bits baked inside.
Had a blast here! Music was a little loud for my taste, but other than that, once you're inside, it is a very nice venue. Tried a few of the beer pitchers, and I'd say one pitcher for 3 people is a good amount. The balls and lanes are very standard.

My first time bowling, it was so fun! The Brussels sprouts are ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. I need to try the other food here too, it all sounds veryyy good. Drinks menu is extensive if you're into that. Decor here is very hipster and charming. Bathroom was clean and easy to find. Most of the balls are big and heavy (9-10 Medium is the smallest common one. I saw one 6 Small and that was perfect for me.)

Came in on a Sunday afternoon a few weeks ago with a group of friends - and this place was practically empty. It leads me to assume that the reason why this place wasn’t that busy was due to be very rude bartender working. This is not my first time here, and every time it is the same person being extremely negative. He treated my group of friends and I as if we were in a huge inconvenience to him. He seemed to care more about chatting with staff at the end of the bar. And anytime needed a drink, he treated us as if we were bothering him. I would also like to add that we were extremely polite to this bartender - but after being met with attitude and curt responses, we left and decided to spend our money elsewhere. If you don’t like dealing with customers, maybe you shouldn’t be a bartender. ** One thing that I would like to add is that the two gentleman working the bowling alley were the kindest and most gracious people.

Happy to support a more local community oriented establishment. They have a good amount of balls ranging in weight and also finger holes. Food and cocktails are great. Staff is friendly. It’s a very safe and comfortable environment.
E L — Google review
They allowed a group of about 8–12 people to completely disrespect the game of bowling and the lanes around them (including ours), which really hurt the experience at first. However, in the end, the front desk made it right and handled the situation fairly (let us finish our last two frames even though time was up). The bar staff was also really efficient and kept things moving smoothly.

Auntie April's Chicken, Waffles, & Soul Food Restaurant is a local family-run spot in Bayview that offers authentic and affordable soul food. The menu features large servings of impeccably executed fried chicken with a choice of waffles, including classic, cinnamon, or red velvet. Customers rave about the crispy and juicy chicken paired with thick and soft waffles. The shrimp and grits are also highly recommended for their hearty and flavorful appeal.
Great food, slow service for me. But the food was so good that it gets 5 stars anyway. I got the Fried Cornbread, which was different but good. I also got the Bananas Foster Waffle, which was AMAZING! And I got some Chicken Tenders, which had good flavor, but the waffle was the definite standout. My wife and daughter both got regular waffles and fried chicken. They both enjoyed theirs as well.

I had a pretty so-so experience here. We tried to dine-in here, big mistake. The outdoor seating was disgusting and there were flies everywhere. If I were to ever get food from here, I’d never go in person again. Pretty bad vibes. The food was good and I really enjoyed it when we went. I originally wanted to give this place 3 starts because of the food, but honestly I’m not sure if the food was actually that great, or if I was just craving chicken and waffles at the time. If you’re in the mood for chicken and waffles, I wouldn’t go out of your way to come here unless you’re nearby. Ordering for delivery might be the best option.
Jack D — Google review
Fun place to grab lunch in the weekends. The prices are reasonable and the chicken has a very classic crunch and flavor. The red velvet waffle was not over powering either. The corn bread was good and buttered nicely, but it felt a little on the dry side. The service level was okay but honestly I will for sure be back to this joint.

This place was AWESOME I had the chicken breast with a waffle and shrimp n grits!! First off the breast was fresh n juicy and the skin on the chicken was crispy!!!! The waffle was the real deal amd it was thick but soft!! Now let me talk about the shrimp n grits!! I NEVER had shrimp n grits like this before. It was hardy and fulfilling!! It was pack with flavor and u can taste everything that was in it!! I will DEFINITELY come back!!
Demetria F — Google review
Showed up at 12:45pm on a Tuesday and it was mostly empty. Ordered a coffee which was diner-quality. They were out of thighs, so I ordered a breast with a waffle. The food took about ~20-25 minutes to come out, and the skin was very crunchy (yum!), the breast was very moist, the waffle was soft but held its shape, and the syrup was viscous and sugary (NOT maple syrup, which is a good thing). I read in the reviews that service is sometimes really slow and/or bad, and that is probably true on the weekends. I would definitely come again and will probably order the banana foster waffle next time.
Maggie W — Google review
A no frills neighborhood spot offering soul food classics. The red velvet waffle was outstanding and the fried chicken was crispy on the outside and juicy inside. The shrimp and grits was not as tasty as we had hoped it would be although we would definitely return for the chicken n waffles.

Perfect neighborhood breakfast! The shrimp grits are amazing, and I recommend the baked cornbread over the steamed ones. Pancakes are great!

The place is delicious. The shrimp and grits we're good. The cornbread was really crumbly and soft but it wasn't crunchy whatsoever. The fried chicken was really good as well as the the waffle. The waffle was delicious, not crunchy but solid enough to hold and soft on each bite.

We came here for lunch right after the rush brunch hour on the weekend, so it was quieter. Lovely decor. We were seated fast. I had the avocado toast which was delicious. I ordered poached eggs from the sides menu - they were served in a bowl so came with some of the water which made it hard to eat. My husband's Croque Madame was just ok.

Brunch restaurant
If you're looking for a delightful and communal brunch experience, Early To Rise is the place to be. This cozy corner venue offers seasonal weekend brunch fare that's worth reserving in advance. From East-West Hong Kong diner food to fluffy lemon-ricotta pancakes and French-inspired dishes like Pain Perdu, there's something for every palate.
Early to Rise was solid but didn’t quite blow us away. I came with my partner and a few friends we tried the Up & At’em, the eggs Benedict, and the shrimp and grits. The portions were generous and everything was well-prepared, but flavor wise, it leaned more safe than standout. The shrimp and grits had a nice texture, though it could’ve used a bit more punch. Service was friendly, and the vibe was laid-back and cozy. Overall, a decent brunch spot, just not a must-return for us.
Oneill M — Google review
I went to Early to Rise with some friends a few weeks ago for Sunday morning brunch. This was my first time going! I don’t typically go out for brunch or breakfast so this was a treat. There was about a 35 minute wait for 5 people. Once ready, we were seated in the corner booth which was cozy. A couple of us ordered the rose cardamom latte and I loved it. I’m typically not a floral latte person, but I really enjoyed this one. We started with some of the donuts. We ordered two sugar rolled and two of the daily specials, which ended up being a coconut cream donut. After taste testing both, we all agreed we preferred the sugar rolled donut because it was recently prepared so they were still warm. I ordered the eggs Benedict with bacon and a side salad. Shocker, but this was actually my first time having eggs Benedict and I loved it! The sauce was delicious and my boyfriend who has ordered many eggs Benedict said that it was really tasty. He ordered the blueberry ricotta pancakes and another friend ordered the shrimp and grits. Each plate we ordered was a good portion size. If you don’t mind waiting, I would recommend trying this brunch spot. There is a coffee shop across the street (Matching Half) that I have been to quite a few times and love. If you find yourself needing to wait you could always go across the street and grab a coffee while you wait.
Isabel H — Google review
I feel really bad writing this message because the manager came around before I left and asked if I "enjoyed everything". I absolutely did not enjoy the food. I found it to be the most elaborate yet tasteless plate of food I've had in awhile. I've ordered shrimp and grits all over this country and this was the worst. My friend and I were excited about the communal concept and planned to order and share 3 items. We ended up with two. After one bite of my shrimp and grits I didn't bother to taste hers. The roux was dark but tasted like Campbell's broth and the paprika was expected to carry the dish. These shrimp and grits weren't for me. The flavors are underdeveloped.
Chanae P — Google review
Located in a quiet neighborhood. Staff makes you feel welcome. Great brunch food. Parking is nil. The restaurant has lots of natural light which makes it welcoming in a pleasant atmosphere. All food ordered were well plated, inviting and tasty. Coffee and water were constantly refilled.
Pamela L — Google review
Came here for the first time for my birthday brunch with a couple of friends. You can tell all of the food is made fresh and the portion was pretty good so all of us were stuffed! Pancakes were fluffy and sweet and what stood out to me the most out of the savory options were the eggs Benedict.
Sarina I — Google review
Early to Rise is like if a chic modern diner and SF brunch culture had a baby—with excellent taste and zero chill on weekends. Nestled in the NoPa neighborhood, this place is bright, airy, and absolutely not messing around when it comes to brunch. The staff? Super sweet. The crowds? Absolutely feral by 10 a.m. If you roll up without a resy on a weekend, that’s a bold choice. Good luck. Now, let’s talk food. The eggs Benedict come with a runny, sous-vide egg situation and a brown butter hollandaise that could honestly win awards. It’s rich, buttery, and just tangy enough to give you feels. The white cheddar grits? Creamy. Dreamy. Like a weighted blanket for your stomach. And listen, I’m not usually about the sweet breakfast life, but one bite of the French toast had me rethinking my choices. Custardy, thick, not tooth-achingly sweet. I would fight a child for another slice. DO. NOT. SKIP. THE. DONUTS. Get all of them for the table. You’re welcome. In short: Early to Rise is a brunch baddie. It’s got style, substance, and housemade everything. Go early. Book the damn res. And order like you mean it. I did—and I regret nothing.
Jerry S — Google review
Early to Rise in San Francisco feels like the kind of brunch spot that was built with love from the ground up. The energy is warm and welcoming, almost like stepping into a friend’s kitchen where everything is made from scratch and served with care. Their brunch plates have that perfect balance—hearty, flavorful, and thoughtfully prepared—where every bite tells you it was crafted with real ingredients and patience. It’s the sort of place that makes you slow down, enjoy the morning, and appreciate how good food can set the tone for the whole day.
Faray A — Google review
It all started as a bagel stand and expanded into a made from scratch diner. My combo, pictured, was excellent (although I prefer coaster, stone ground grits). The eggs bene were so-so (a little skimpy on the hollandaise), the salad was a show stopper and home made bagel good (depending on the type you like).

Kahnfections is a small, classic bakery located in the Mission District of San Francisco. The bakery offers a wide variety of pastries and cookies, as well as house-made soup. In addition to traditional French fare, Kahnfections also offers American desserts and seasonal temptations. The cafe's small but charming patio is perfect for enjoying your meal with a warm cup of coffee or tea.
The shop's concept is all about full customization. From the biscuit base to the spread, cheese, and toppings, you're in complete control. I went the classic route and chose garlic aioli, cheddar cheese, ham, and bacon. Jade, on the other hand, ordered her Lox Special. The magic of the sandwich lies in its soft-scrambled egg, which has a texture like the egg in a Japanese omurice, skillfully binding together the savory notes of the cheese and bacon. The biscuit base, meanwhile, is responsible for providing a solid, satisfying crunch. One bite was all it took to understand: it was delicious, and you absolutely have to eat it while it's hot.

Light and hearty way to start the day! The biscuit and eggs are both super fluffy and pair great together. Be prepared for a bit of wait, it can get busy in the mornings! Also would recommend eating the sandwich at the spot (even though seating is limited). The sandwich can cool down pretty quickly.

Hidden Gem for Breakfast Sandwich Lovers We stumbled upon this cozy little bakery and breakfast spot and were genuinely impressed. We tried two breakfast sandwiches, both delicious but with distinct personalities. The standout was the kimchi, egg, and cheese biscuit, a special of the day. The bold, tangy kimchi paired shockingly well with the buttery, flaky biscuit, making for a flavor combo that felt both inventive and comfortingly familiar. It completely stole the show. The second sandwich, a twist on the classic egg and cheese with salmon, was also really solid. Rich, savory, and satisfying—but if I had to choose again, I’d go back for the kimchi in a heartbeat. We didn’t get to try the baked goods this time (breakfast filled us up fast), but they looked absolutely incredible. The pastry case was packed with treats that we’re already planning to come back for. A return visit is definitely in the cards.

Came early on a Sunday morning to a quiet spot with plenty of open tables. We leisurely looked at beautiful pastries, trying to figure out which ones we were going to break our diet for. We opted for a sour cherry scone and a blueberry muffin. The scone was our favorite, but the muffin was also quite good. The scone was too small, in our opinion, but probably better that way for our waistlines!!! Our coffees were also tasty. We chose a table, enjoyed the goodness in front of us, and within minutes, the place was packed. Line was out the door and it didn't stop the whole time we were there. All the tables were filled. I'd recommend getting there early. This is a cute, neighborhood bakery that has a lot of menu choices. Definitely will return!

4.2/5 for the breakfast sandwich. It was good but was kinda pricey for what it’s worth. Got the added chicken but I swear I feel like there were 3 chunks of small chicken on the sandwich.

I'm from the south and i usually avoid biscuits outside of that area for everyone's sake. I'm so glad I gave this place a try though. Far and away the best biscuit sandwich I've had away from home. Heart warming, fluffy, simple but wonderful. Caveat: its not the same texture as a southern biscuit BUT it is perfectly balanced for what it is and the essential buttermilk flavor comes through wonderfully. Ate it all before i could take a pic but I'll be back. Thanks y'all!!

This is my favorite breakfast sandwich spot in all of SF! They have a huge selection of pastries, drinks, and food, but you have to get one of their famous breakfast biscuit sandwiches built to order. You can’t go wrong with their bacon cheddar biscuit egg sandwich with garlic aioli and bacon; if you’re lucky, on certain days they’ll have sausage to add on, which you should totally go for. The staff is also super friendly and the service is quick, plus they have a nice outdoor patio with umbrellas where you can enjoy your meal. I could go to Kahnfections everyday honestly!

Nice place to stop by for a good sandwich! The cali sandwich was delicious. The chicken wasn't dry, and the chimichurri was a nice touch. The people working there are friendly as well. Would stop by again for a quick lunch! Edit: I came by for lunch again and got the crispy shrimp wrap, which took longer than expected after my coworkers already got their orders. There weren't many shrimp in it, and I also didn't like it as much as the cali sandwich I had the first time, so I'm bumping down the rating a bit. I think it's still a decent spot, but I probably wouldn't get the crispy shrimp wrap again

Love this place! So good I had to double back for breakfast after my coffee. The staff was friendly, attentive, and fun to be around.
