Park
Nature & Parks
Schlossberg, a historic hilltop castle in Graz, has stood for over a millennium and offers breathtaking views of the city. Accessible by funicular or a leisurely climb, the castle is surrounded by lush greenery and features attractions like the Uhrturm tower, bastion, viewing terrace, and restaurant. Visitors can also explore Schloss Eggenberg before heading to Schlossberg for panoramic city views.
When in Graz, seeing Schlossberg is a must! This beautiful clock tower & surrounding garden area offers the best views of the city. It’s definitely a hike to get up here, as it is a viewing area and one of the hugest points in the city. So you can get some good exercise and then be rewarded with a beautiful sight of Graz’s cityscape. There’s a lot to walk around and see up here, beyond the clock tower. The gorgeous flower gardens are right below, there’s multiple viewing decks around the top, plenty of benches and places to sit and enjoy the quiet, a museum, a city citytop restaurant, and even a performing theater. Depending on the day and events happening, you could definitely spend an entire day up here doing a variety of activities. Much love, Graz.
Raegan L — Google review
The Schlossberg is a must-see when visiting Graz. The climb itself is part of the fun! There’s an amazing staircase carved right into the hillside that makes you feel like you’re conquering the mountain step by step. But if stairs aren’t your thing, don’t worry: there’s also a funicular and even an elevator to take you to the top. I highly recommend the funicular. It’s smooth, quick, and the views as you ascend are fantastic. Plus, it’s part of Graz’s regular public transport system, so the cost is the same as a bus or tram ride. You can buy a one-way ticket, use your 24-hour pass, or even a weekly/monthly pass. Just note: if you’re using a transit ticket, you’ll need to stop at the ticket window to get waved through instead of scanning at the turnstile. At the top, you’ll be rewarded with incredible panoramic views of the city. Between the history, the scenery, and the multiple ways up and down, it’s the kind of spot you can’t miss when exploring Graz. Whether you’re climbing, riding, or snapping photos from above, the Schlossberg is one of those places that makes the city feel truly special.
Brian B — Google review
The Schlossberg in Graz Austria is a must see if you are ever in Graz. There is a staircase on the outside of the mountain that allows you to walk up and down to access the Schlossberg. There is also a tunnel that takes you into the mountain where there is a lift that will take you to the top of the Schlossberg. The first visit, I took the exterior stairs up and down and found it to be a moderate to challenging walk. I only took the lift the second time because I want to experience what that was like. And it was pretty cool to say the least. There is a lot of history to this structure. The castle was apparently never conquered, but was largely demolished with the signing of a treaty by Napoleonic forces. The Clocktower and Belltower were spared when the people of Graz paid a tribute or a ransom to ensure their survival. It is mostly a park now but there are several cafés at the top where you can enjoy a glass of wine and snacks The view from the top is simply stunning and is absolutely worth the walk up to the top or by taking the lift I would highly recommend making this part of your stay if you were ever in Graz Paul Calgary, Canada
Paul M — Google review
Did you know…? An alternative route (if you don’t want to climb the steep stairs, or use the paid lift/funicular) to the top of Schlossberg/Uhrtum) can be accessed via a winding back route! Start your ascent at Sporgasse & Am FuBe des Schlossberges (the entrance is near Kirby’s American Kichen restaurant) - - - from there you’ll walk up and along a tree- lined wide & gently sloped path to the top. (Aprox. 15 minute walk) Views are well worth the effort. For the brave & young at heart, consider taking the carpet slide back down the mountain! There’s a short flight of stairs by the lift that will take you to the slide entrance. For 3 Euros, it’s an unforgettable corkscrew slide down at speeds up to 35Km! Terrifying and exhilarating experience all at once!
Anne L — Google review
Views on top are incredible - lots of nice places to sit and order beer and coffee at the top - views are incredible - many ways to get to top between walking, elevator and other ways
Steve J — Google review
You should walk up the stairs! Such amazing views, plenty of seats on the way up. The top is worth it! And it's free!
LasVegas C — Google review
Schlossberg is a great place to take a walk and enjoy a beer with an amazing view over Graz. The atmosphere is really relaxing, and it’s perfect for spending an afternoon outdoors. There’s also a fun option to slide down the hill with the Schlossberg slide — it’s a unique experience and a lot of fun, although a bit pricey. Definitely worth visiting!
Ema D — Google review
Today I visited Schloßberg with a friend, and it turned out to be such a great experience. We took the funicular Zug 🚆 to the top, which was smooth and gave us some lovely views of the city as we ascended. Once at the top, the atmosphere was peaceful and scenic perfect for relaxing with a drink and taking in the surroundings. We spent some time just soaking in the views, snapping a few photos, and enjoying the fresh air. The place has a unique charm, with old stone paths and remnants that really give you a feel of history almost like stepping back into a time with echoes of World War II still lingering in the walls. Coming down, we chose the stairs instead of the train, and that was honestly one of the highlights. The descent offered some beautiful views and made us appreciate the height we were at even more. It’s a bit of a workout but worth every step.

The Gothic Graz Cathedral is a remarkable building that dates back to the 15th century. The simple design belies its importance in the city, and it features some great relics and paintings on display.
Is there a cathedral not worth visiting? I'm not a huge world traveler, but the few I have been in are all spectacular and quite unique in their details and materials. This is one is no different. Has been modified over the centuries so spans several eras (Renaissance- Baroque and beyond). Amazing fresco from 1400's preserved on the outside wall.
Gretchen N — Google review
imposing 15th century cathedral, on the top of a staircase. the simple linearity of the facade contrasts with the baroque mausoleum next to it, creating an interesting architectural dialogue
KinEst F — Google review
Majestic and beautiful cathedral. Wonderful music during Mass.
Mark M — Google review
A stunning and historic cathedral right in the heart of Graz! The interior is beautiful, with impressive architecture, intricate details, and a peaceful atmosphere that makes it a perfect place to explore. It’s easy to visit while walking through the city center, and the cathedral offers a glimpse into Graz’s rich history and culture. A must-see landmark for anyone visiting the city!
Tila N — Google review
Is certainly to be visited, if outside appears so simple, inside is beautiful with so many wood sculptures, not enough words to describe the art found inside
Alessio C — Google review
A beautiful, serene, small cathedral full of symbolism, located atop a set of stairs on a narrow street that you don't expect. The tomb area is stunning.
EmVaEs — Google review
At first glance, beautiful, but ! If you tap on the "marble" - it rings on plasterboard ! A complete imitation. I hope the organ is real?
Mitko B — Google review
Going back to the 15th century, the cathedral is built in Gothic style while the interior is decorated later in baroque style. The entrance is free and there is a lot to discover inside, very many intricate works of art, ornate and colorful altars, wonderful architectural elements, murals, reliefs and statues all making up a rich, tasteful space.

Kunsthaus Graz is a contemporary art museum located in the heart of Graz, Austria. Designed by British architect Peter Cook, it is informally known as 'The Friendly Alien' due to its amorphous blue building that stands out along the riverside. The museum's cutting-edge exhibitions showcase the city's modernity and future-oriented approach, contrasting with the historical landmarks nearby. This unique coexistence of old and new architecture adds to Graz's multifaceted character.
I have loved this museum from the moment I first saw it from afar. The closer I got to the main facade, the more I was reassured in my belief that the interior would be just as captivating. It's a museum with a very modern layout, and also with a groundbreaking proposal. It has one of the best museum shops I've ever visited, followed by a powerful sensory section, like the video of Marina Abramović screaming until she's utterly exhausted from the effort. There is a section dedicated to referencing Guernica and its political dimension, detailing its journey around the world, alongside some original newspaper clippings that tell stories about the painting. Moreover, the museum's rooms are spacious and dark, with skylights (clarabollas) that let the light through in a very particular way. It’s a stunning place, well worth the visit, and I would rate it 5 stars without hesitation!
EmVaEs — Google review
The architecture is impressive! I couldn't shake the feeling that I was on a spaceship. This museum doesn't showcase art in the classical sense, but it offers something else. Here, art is meant to be listened to, felt, and perhaps understood in your own way. Some exhibits made no sense to me at all, even after reading the explanations — and that was part of the intrigue. The price is standard for Austria. The staff is excellent. The shop inside is interesting. I definitely recommend a visit.
Dmytro V — Google review
Extremely well-curated with a blend of modern and old, what's not to love about Kunsthaus? Even if you're not a museum/gallery type of person, come for the gorgeous views from the terrace/top floor
Guilherme C — Google review
We went there after exploring the Schlossberg area; easily accessible by foot! And not too far. It cost us €12 / adult and the "kass" was friendly without queue (lucky us!). The "Freeing the Voice" was on exhibition during our visit; it was an intriguing one! It took us around 1.5 hours to learn about everything, including a photography exhibition. This place has 3 floors for exhibitions - there was also a "friendly alien" space below seemingly targeted for children; interactive stuff, where saw a work from someone and I loved it!
Irwan J — Google review
The Kunsthaus Graz, Grazer Kunsthaus, or Graz Art Museum was built as part of the European Capital of Culture celebrations in 2003 and has since become an architectural landmark in Graz, Austria. Its exhibition program specializes in contemporary art from the 1960s onwards.
Platinum G — Google review
Awesome place to visit. It is ever present on any youtuber's travel vlog to Graz /Austria. We were lucky enough to enter for free on a Sunday (no idea what the occasion was, but it was free entrance). The building is in center down town. Awesome architecture on the outside, awesome light shows on the building during the night, massive concrete building. They have lockers at -1 like most Austrian art galleries and museums and you are not allowed to bring your backpack inside the museum, nor selfie sticks, not liquids. I especially love the eye shaped windows at the first flor, gave such alien UFO vibes or a feeling you were i side a cyborg wale or something 😄🐳🐋. On the last floor there is an indoor terrace with a view towards the river and the city center. They have great restrooms for people with disabilities as well and lifts between the floors. They also have a bar terrace outside , behind the museum, very lively and there is also a municipality fountain , with drinkable water, next to that bar , for those hot summer days . Artworks were very well lit and separated with proper details in regard to the artist and hi/her work.
Daniel W — Google review
Don't waste your time going to Freeing the Voices unless you never watch news broadcasts on TV or take sadistic pleasure from seeing the misery of other people. The exhibition borders on emotional abuse, and it is an outrage that I had to pay to experience it. Yes .. galleries are discursive spaces. We should enter with an open mind and expect to learn. But conceptual art is taking the concept of art beyond anything meaningful.
David W — Google review
What was I thinking …it was the building that led me to make an exception and enter a contemporary art museum…don’t get it, never got it , never will get it ..if it rocks your boat go in otherwise stay away !!

Murinsel Graz is a contemporary floating structure that serves as a café and theater, featuring striking nighttime illumination. It was designed and constructed in 2003 when Graz was designated the European Capital of Culture. The island is suspended over the river Mur by two bridge walkways, with a marvellous glass panelled dome giving the impression of floating on the water. Inside, visitors can enjoy a café, seating area with views of the river, and even a children's play area.
This bridge/art installation/cafe is very cool and impressive. It is worth seeing it as it is quite different from the usual tourist sightseeings. Bonus - you can have a coffee or a drink while enjoying a great river view.
Лъчезар А — Google review
Murinsel Café is a great place with a cozy and relaxed atmosphere. The staff is friendly, the prices are reasonable, and the architecture is truly unique — a floating structure in the middle of the Mur river that makes the whole experience special. Whether you're just grabbing a coffee or taking a break while exploring Graz, it's definitely worth a visit!
Mia P — Google review
Super fun addition to the city of Graz and a very unique experience. If your path takes you across the river to some of the most interesting downtown hubs of Graz, this is the way to go to enhance your experience. They have outdoor seating for a nice Cafe in the middle of a river! You'll have a story to tell as well as a good experience with the staff and accommodations. 4/5 stars because they deliver an experience that you can't experience anywhere else on the planet based on the design and uniqueness, however; Graz provides alot of unique areas, culture, history, and interesting design that places this in a "might see" instead of a "must see" category.
Nick P — Google review
A little pearl in the middle of the city and the river. There's a nice cafe bar indoor and outdoor as well. Check out murinselgraz homepage for concerts and events available in the outdoor part. The island is accessible from both sides of the river, it's worth to just cross it.
Gyorgy R — Google review
Just walked thru, perfect for nice pictures. Brilliant architecture in the middle of the river. You can have a coffee inside, we didn’t but it seems nice and they have nice looking desserts.

Nestled in a historic building dating back to 1811, the Styrian Armory, also known as the Graz Arsenal, is a treasure trove for history enthusiasts and travelers alike. This remarkable museum boasts the largest and most well-preserved collection of military artifacts globally, featuring over 30,000 items that span from the late Middle Ages to the early 19th century.
The entrance is only allowed through the guided tour on the weekday winter period. They have German tour at 11am and English tour at 1230. The ticket costs 12 euro for the adult. You must lock your bag inside their locker with 1 euro coin, the coin will be refunded to you when you unlock the locker. The tour is fun with our English guide, we also allowed to hold a sword, another guarding tool and wear a helmet.

Omg. I loved it. Weapons are amazing. Employees are super helpful to answer lots of questions and are quite knowledgeable too. Definitely one of the coolest places to see in Graz!
Milan V — Google review
One of the most unique collections I have ever seen. Preservation is top notch, but it comes down to the special nature of what they have in the Armory. A reminder as well as a celebration of craftsmanship. Like it's creators this collection is complex, special and should be preserved as a reminder.
Nathan S — Google review
The Graz armoury is an astonishing collection of weapons and armour, preserved through a historical accident and housed right in the centre of the city. From the outside the building doesn’t look much different from those around it, but once inside there’s floors and floors of pikes, rifles, armour, shields and so much more. I’m not generally a fan of museums but this was superb, and an absolute must see in any visit to this part of Austria.

We weren’t sure what to expect, as this isn’t usually the type of place we go for, but it was totally worth it. A little bit of history and a huge collection of items. I highly recommend visiting this place.

Nestled in the heart of Graz, the Grazer Landhaus stands as a stunning testament to Renaissance architecture. Constructed in 1557 by the talented Italian architect Domenico dell'Allio, this magnificent palace features elegant arched windows and an enchanting courtyard adorned with arcades. Visitors are often captivated by its intricate carvings, baroque-style parlors, and charming gargoyle statues that add character to this historical gem.
Awesome landmark. A place where entry is free. It has a tasting structure and surrounds you from all sides. You can take beautiful photos. A nice spot calm to quiet and drink a coffee. The fact that it is at a central point makes it possible to explore. Those who really like this kind of places to visit must go. It’s peaceful and relaxing place.
Anıl K — Google review
The building is interesting, and the entrance is free, but honestly, there wasn't much to see and do there. Still, as I understand, it is an important historic landmarknfeom the Renaissance, and you should pass through it as it is in the perfect pedestrian centre of Graz and decide for yourself if you like it or not
Лъчезар А — Google review
A nice renaissance building. You can enter freely and enjoy the atmosphere. There are not much to do but you can walk in there, if you are interested in renaissance architecture you may love this building. There are nice historical sculptures. People say that there will be musicians playing in the court but I didn't see. Also I guess in winter there will be ice sculptures.
Berke A — Google review
The current building is the third city hall on this site, constructed in the late 19th century in a historicist style. The first city hall was built in 1450 in Judengasse, and a second, Renaissance-style building was erected on the current site in 1550. The Grazer Rathaus is a prominent landmark and a central point of the city, known for its grand architecture and clock tower. The building serves as the seat of the Graz municipal government.

Schloss Eggenberg is a 17th-century palace located just outside the center of Graz, Austria. This stately palace was built by Prince Hans Ulrich von Eggenberg and is considered the most important castle in the Styrian region. The sumptuous Baroque architecture features painted ceiling panels and elegant rooms designed as an allegory of the cosmos, with references to astronomy and astrology.
Schloss Eggenberg is one exceptional castle surrounded with lovely spacious park full of beautiful trees and flowers.Paths which lead through the park are covered with little white pebbles which make a experience of walking through it so natural and calming. Beautiful sculptures are settled on some of significant spots. You can meet lovely peacocks all around which freely wander between visitors… Smart crows as a contrast to peacocks are crossing over meadows with their funny walk and talk.
Aleksiij — Google review
The parc is well-preserved and nice but I would prefer it to be more accesible to the public. I do get that it’s monument and must be protected though I cannot enjoy the parc when your dog cannot go, you cannot step on the grass etc. In general, you can just walk and look. I def prefer the Schlossberg parc that is public.

This is the first destination my friend showed me in Graz. This is not the kind of extremely luxury type of palace. It is a lovely place with the right size, interesting history and significance. There are a few exhibitions with well presented information and artefacts. You wont be disappointed.

Nestled in the heart of Graz, the Hauptplatz der Stadt Graz is a vibrant historical town square that beautifully encapsulates the essence of this charming city. Surrounded by stunning medieval architecture, it features a striking bronze statue that adds character to the scene. The square buzzes with life as locals and visitors alike gather for various events, from lively hip-hop performances to picturesque wedding celebrations where brides make their grand entrance against the backdrop of the magnificent town hall.
This is certainly worth a visit for rail enthusiasts or for that matter, folks with an interest in local rail history. There's not much to see in the town itself on weekends however. The displays are first class and very well done. The engines and equipment in the old roundhouse are outstanding. A tip of the hat to the folks who made it happen.

The Main Square of Graz is one of the most charming places I’ve visited in Europe. It’s full of history and atmosphere, surrounded by beautifully preserved medieval buildings that make you feel like you've stepped into another century. The architecture is stunning from every angle, especially if you take time to look up at the details on the facades. The square has a lively but relaxed vibe, with cafes, street performers, and people just sitting around enjoying the moment. Right in the middle, there’s a striking bronze statue that at first glance feels traditional, but if you look closely, it has this unexpected punk element—like a subtle twist that adds humor to the history around it. It really makes the whole place feel unique. It’s a great spot to start exploring Graz—everything important seems to branch out from here. Whether you’re into photography, architecture, or just people-watching with a coffee, this square has something for you. I ended up spending more time here than I expected, just taking in the energy. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the city. Love From India ❤️

A nice way to chill myself during the trip. There are a lot of ways spreading from here, so you can arrive at the major spots of the city quickly and conveniently. When I was there, there was a Coca-Cola corp-backed public festival with decent music.

We visited during the Easter holiday and were disappointed—Hauptplatz was filled with unused tents that blocked the view. Instead of a festive Easter fair, it felt empty and unorganized.

Beautiful square very lively at heart of Graz. Very popular shopping area. Lots of branded shops and popular Kastner and Ohler is also close by.

Main Square, on the left bank of the River Mur. Here, is a fine statue of Archduke Johann. Also there is the Town Hall (Rathaus), built in 1893, and the 17th-century Haus am Luegg, with its attractive arcaded and stucco-decorated facade. It's just a shame that they put various stalls and kiosks in this gorgeous place that prevent you from enjoying the beauty of the place, especially the bad smell emanating is terrible, sacrilegious

Aiola Upstairs is a sophisticated dining space with breathtaking views of the city skyline. It's perfect for enjoying a romantic meal in a beautiful setting, with dishes such as tuna or beef tartare and vegetable risotto on the menu. The service is excellent and the atmosphere romantic, making it one of Graz's most popular restaurants.
I had a salad and a main dish. The food was good and the view amazing.

Best asset is the view of the city. Being a tourist trap, the service is far from optimal. Be ready to be treated not with the highest welcoming spirit and also be ready for anything you want to take long time (10 minutes to even be acknowledged, 22 minutes to get someone to take your order, rather having to stand up and say walk to the exit to pay because no one will bring you the check). Food is standard so don’t expect anything amazing.

Beautiful view with a relaxing atmosphere. It's great for a short break. We got a Apfelstrudel which was great but be aware that you have to order vanilla ice cream or sauce extra and pay additionally for it.

Visited a bakery machine supplier in Graz. They brought me to this restaurant situated on top of a hill. We took a tram up to reach the restaurant. The food is great, service is out of the world. I would like to comment the waitress who knows her wines so well. As per images I bought 4 bottles back to my house-stay. Up there, you have a sky scraper view of Graz city. This is a beautiful place of visit, not too overcrowded with tourists. The people in Graz are very kind.

We had a drink there, what a view! The inside is stunning, the terrace is an exceptional spot. Don't be fooled by Maps telling you it's only a 6 minutes walk though... You'll arrive there sweating unless you take the (very) expensive elevator.

After a vigorous ascent to the top of Schlossberg in Graz, my visit to Aiola Upstairs was nothing short of a rewarding experience. The panoramic views from the restaurant are truly breathtaking, offering a spectacular vista over the city that enhances the dining experience. The food at Aiola Upstairs was absolutely delightful. The menu's variety caters to all palates, and every bite was a treat to the senses. Equally impressive was the service; the staff were incredibly friendly and attentive. They took great care to ensure that our meal was enjoyable, providing recommendations and attending to our needs with a smile. Their professionalism added a personal touch to our meal that made the experience even more special. In conclusion, Aiola Upstairs is definitely worth the visit. The combination of delicious food, stunning views, and exemplary service makes it a must-visit destination for anyone coming to Graz. Whether you're looking for a romantic dinner spot or a place to relax after exploring Schlossberg, Aiola Upstairs will not disappoint.

Nestled in the vibrant heart of Graz, Kastner & Öhler stands as a testament to the city's rich shopping heritage. This iconic department store, established in 1883, boasts an impressive 20,000 square meters dedicated to fashion and elegance. With over 500 international brands showcased across six beautifully designed floors, it truly offers Austria's largest selection of quality apparel. The recent renovation has transformed this historic building into a modern shopping haven while preserving its charming architectural details.
A six-level store. On the top floor, there is a bar/restaurant with a stunning view, and I recommend the pastry products. They are delicious. The store is luxurious. It also has an interior connection to a store that sells sports products and footwear. You can find everything you need for skiing, hiking

Not the store I knew few years ago. Premium / luxury brand are mostly gone, replaced with cheap wannabe brands like Joop. Half of floors are empty shelves where shoe store was. Many people still seem to like it, they feel important to go there. But sadly it’s not anymore the place to buy something nice and special.

A great restaurant with a flair for Harley Davidson motorcycles
John D — Google review
I recently stopped by Clocktower on Kärntnerstraße in Graz. Its bold orange façade, surrounded by Harley-Davidson bikes, gives you the clear signal: American diner with a biker twist. Inside, the vibe blends dim lighting with retro Americana—leather seats, neon signs, framed motorcycles, and a genuine saloon feel. I dove into their smoked “Brandy Style Beef Ribs”; rich, smoky, and tender, they delivered on flavor and indulgence. The Filet Mignon and tenderloin were equally impressive, cooked just right and paired with hearty sides. This place is all about the experience—big portions, bold flavors, and rock-solid service. The staff felt welcoming and helped pace my meal so I could enjoy every dish without rush. Clocktower nails that rugged, American bar and grill experience right in the heart of Graz. If you're in the mood for top-tier ribs, steaks, and atmosphere, this is your spot. Let me know if you’d like another Graz restaurant, or a shorter version of this one!

Ok bar but nothing special. Personally, a little overpriced for the food which was ok. Inky had a burger but that was €15 without adding in a side. Expensive beer. Over €10 for two beers. One good thing was easy to park. Apart from that, it was ok.

The Kunsthauscafe, located in the Graz Art Museum, offers a unique dining experience for art enthusiasts and food lovers alike. The cafe provides an all-day breakfast menu with artistic combinations such as the "Hundertwasser" featuring free-range egg and honey, the "Pablo Picasso" with antipasti, grilled shrimp, and avocado, and the "Kunsthaus" including ham, cheese, egg, yogurt, and salami.
A very welcoming place. Pretty much full on the weekend, but I appreciate the experience. The foot was delicious. Me and my friends tasted each other dish, and there was not a dish that I didn’t like. The service was slightly slow, but I guess that was due to the high number of costumers in the restaurant. Only one thing didn’t work. My friend ordered a sandwich and he specifically said without onion, but unfortunately it arrived with it. So he had to remove it by himself. A little bit annoying, but overall that’s the only critique I can make… otherwise everything was super good 👍🏼

First and foremost, the staff here were incredibly welcoming and helpful—they even found seats for us despite a reservation coming up at 12pm, which we really appreciated. I went with the KHC breakfast, a hearty combo of bacon, sausages, and eggs that was genuinely tasty and satisfying. My wife tried the Pablo Picasso breakfast; while it was well-prepared, it just wasn’t quite to her taste. The atmosphere was also a highlight—pleasant, relaxed, and a great setting to enjoy a slow morning. Overall, a nice breakfast spot with kind service and a warm vibe.

Really nice Mini Club Sandwich and Pasta Bolognese. Let’s say, polite service. However, i did not finish food so i asked for takeaway, the response was, “ i will bring you a box”, a restaurant with bill 55 EUR for two beverages and two basic dishes. Where is the hospitality? Still, worth to visit as the taste of the food is nice, however, overpriced.

Really nice little brunch. It was a sunny day so seats were outside which was nice (needed a bit more shade though). Wide variety on the menu so we had avocado toast with eggs and spinach and a beef bagel which also came with an egg. Nice coffee and elderflower soda to cool down. We liked that we could reserve online via Google. Toilets inside the museum, just downstairs.

Dining above Graz' rooftops! Whenever I have visitors in Graz, I guide them here. The restaurant is located in the very heart of the old town of Graz with a perfect view of the castle hill as well as the marvelous city hall. I've been here several times for breakfast, which has been on point every single time. There is sth. on the menu for every taste: whether you want pancakes, poached eggs, muesli, French toast or other culinary combinations. Besides the great taste and truly good pricing, I love that they use fresh and mainly regional products. Also very recommendable is the coffee - and I say that as a coffee lover. But if you are more in the mood for champagne or a "Spritz" - I'm sure you'll find some tasty options too. Hot tip: if you would like to visit this place on the weekend, make a reservation well ahead of time, especially if you would like to sit on the beautiful terrace. Last but not least I enjoy it very much that the service treats every customer like a queen/king. I emphasize this because not only the "normal people" meet at Freiblick, but also the "Upper classes". You just feel comfortable and welcome here, no matter what you look like. In conclusion: a visit here is a big fat recommendation!
Lia M — Google review
Finding the restaurant was a bit tricky. The map indicated I had arrived, but it turned out to be the entrance of a mall. Thankfully, a guard informed us that the restaurant was on the 6th floor. Upon arriving there, we were impressed by the stunning city views. However, we had to flag down a waiter after waiting for about 10 minutes unnoticed. Once seated, service improved significantly. The waiter was friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. The food arrived quickly and was delicious, though the portion sizes seemed small for the cost. Breakfast for three, including eggs and bacon for my wife and I, pancakes for my daughter, two juices, a cappuccino, and water, came to around 60 euros plus tip – quite pricey. Despite this, I would recommend the restaurant for its beautiful scenery and tasty food.

Food was amazing. Dog friendly place. Service could be better not like on the instant track. You have to make reservations before, in my case 1 hour, it is acceptable, just the feeling that everything is in hurry I don't like. Sit-eat/drink-go, next please....Average evaluation 4 🌟.

I recently spent a relaxed morning at Die Scherbe, tucked away on Stockergasse. From the moment I stepped inside, I appreciated the modern, light-filled space—with high ceilings, warm wood furniture, and sunny windows opening onto a lively pedestrian street. I started with a globally inspired brunch—rich roast pumpkin with dumplings, followed by fresh falafel and a vibrant root vegetable soup. Each dish felt thoughtfully crafted, offering flavor and freshness while staying hearty and comforting. Service was genuinely warm and flexible. Staff were quick to accommodate dietary needs and menu explanations felt friendly, not rushed. The atmosphere balanced buzz and calm perfectly. Guests chatted casually, natural light flooded the room, and the bright tables made the space feel welcoming and easygoing. Die Scherbe stands out for its creative, inclusive menu, sunlit ambience, and genuinely caring hospitality. We walked past and decided we would go back the following day, had an enjoyable beer outside and realised they had a garden, came back the next morning for breakfast in their garden, delicious we both enjoyed our food and the ambiance The service was friendly and welcoming on both occasions
George B — Google review
I've been there a few times over the past few years and loved the place, especially the back garden's ambiance, air and the overall quality there. But today was just an embarassment. I brought 5 other people with me, since I loved it so much I genuinely wanted to show the place to them. The only table available had room for 4 so I asked a gentleman to the side it I could borrow the 2 spare chairs he had, he said fine so I went to carry them over to our table. In that moment, the waiter or whoever the rude worker there was, started acting hysterical, as if I just stole a table from one of the guests or something. He kept asking in a highly condescending tone "Can I help you? Uhhhh what are you guys doing??" etc. His coworker guessed correctly that I don't speak german that well so she asked "English or Deutsch"? I said english so after that the male worker start harassing us even further "How about Finnish (literally no one mentioned Finland, nor the Finnish language) hahahaha", "How about you ask me for a table? First maybe tell me for how many people? Maybe I can make some arrangement? Before you start building a fort here??". He shot out several random questions with such condescension that it was embarassing to stand there and listen to all of the nagging, so we just left. I checked and the table had no reservation on it, and previously I wasn't required to ask for a table, nor mention the amount of people I'm bringing with me. But in case that is necessary and somehow no one asked me until now, that's still an incredibly rude thing to do to your customers. A simple question to ask if we checked in with them would've been fine, and we could've calmly fixed any misunderstanding we might have had. But no, I guess attacking your customers the second you see them and not letting them explain themselves or address the situation works too.

The theater's intricate red, white, and gold interior sets the stage for captivating concerts, opera performances, and ballet productions. Adjacent to the opera house stands the sculpture Lightsaber, symbolizing human rights protection and adding to the city's cultural richness.
As a student, prices are incredibly affordable and it would be a pity for other students to miss out, as a first time student in Graz you can get a €1 ticket deal with the option to sit anywhere, you do this by first signing up on the Opera Graz website and buying your ticket in person at the ticket office beside the Opera itself, every time after that the tickets will be €8. CITYPARK is a bustling mall featuring fashion stores, a supermarket, a medical center, and a food court. Nestled in the heart of the city, it offers visitors an escape from the urban hustle with its forest island ambiance complete with a picturesque lake and green areas. This popular park also boasts historically significant monuments and statues. Additionally, practical information about Austria and Graz can be found on Graz University of Technology's website under 'Living in Graz for Students.'

Nice, big shopping mall where you can buy some decently priced clothes, have something to eat and drink or just spend a few hours browsing the shops. You'll probably need at least a couple of hours to see everything (and there are plenty of interesting options to check out). There's also a coffee shop with a smoking area and a vegan shop. The mall is located in a more industrialised area, so there's not much else to see or do.

Historical landmark
Perched atop Castle Hill in Graz, Austria, the Uhrturm, or Clock Tower, is a 13th-century medieval landmark offering panoramic views of the town. The hill has ancient fortifications dating back to the 10th century and a fortress built by Italian architects in the 16th century. Despite Napoleon's failed attempt to conquer the castle, much of it was destroyed in 1809. However, locals paid a ransom to spare the Clock Tower and Bell Tower.
♐️ I did a short research about The Clock Tower (Uhrturm) in Graz, Austria 1. Location: The tower is located on Schlossberg Hill, a central and historic hill in the heart of Graz. It offers one of the best panoramic views of the city. 2. History: • The Clock Tower dates back to the 13th century, although its current appearance is from the 16th century after renovations. • It is one of the oldest landmarks in Graz still standing today. 3. Unique Features: • One curious feature: the clock hands are reversed from the usual design. • The larger hand shows the hours, and the smaller one shows the minutes. • This is because originally the clock only displayed hours, and the minute hand was added later. • The clock face is large and highly visible, making it a recognizable symbol across the city. 4. Current Use: • While it’s no longer used as a watchtower, the Clock Tower is now a beloved symbol of Graz and a top tourist attraction. • Visitors can access it by walking up the Schlossberg stairs, taking a funicular, or using a glass elevator inside the hill. 5. Cultural Significance: • The Uhrturm is an icon of Graz’s identity. • It’s often featured on souvenirs, city logos, and is beautifully lit up at night. Very beautiful to visit specially in sunset time ✨

Good view panorama the city. Iconic Tower Lock with garden . You can choose climb up or get the lift ( need to pay )
Oliu H — Google review
Beautiful landmark. Cool lift to get up to the tower at a decent price. Once at the top you get rewarded with the most amazing views. It's even possible to go on a massive slide to get you back down. If you are in Graz or anywhere nearby go and have a look. You won't be disappointed. Very, very nice. Give it a try it's lovely.
Olly G — Google review
The Clock Tower on the hill if one of the most important landmarks of Graz. When I was doing my research about this city, this was the highlight of every picture. The Clock Tower carefully watches over the city, as you get a splendid panoramic 360° view of the city. You have a few options to chose from on how to get to it, but I highly recommend taking the funicular as it's the most scenic route. Apart from that, if you're up to it, taking a hike on the many stairs is another option. The photos don't do it justice, you have to visit this landmark for yourself and learn the history of this place.
Victor I — Google review
We enjoyed the well-kept and fragrant place thanks to the roses and other flowers in the area. We of course enjoyed the wonderful view of the entire city from the height. To be honest, the clock tower, the clock, did not make a special impression on us
Michael W — Google review
Super cute small hike up the stairs. It took me about 7 minutes to get to the top. I would say give yourself 15-20 minutes if you aren't used to hikes. It gives you time for a small break as you tread up the stairs.
Deana N — Google review
Beautiful old clock tower on top of the hill, the view from the top is amazing so you should definitely climb and see it.
Kol2388 — Google review
Walked up to the plateau using google maps , walked up Sporgasse and then made a left turn on Am Fuse des Schlossberges (which i understand means at the bottom of the castle hill) , this street has some paved alleys which are not yet mapped on google maps, it is a bit of a hike for the elderly but it is manageable. Once up on the plateau the view is amazing , the top gardens are amazing. Warning for people with hight anxieties, if you plan on getting down using the stairs from the front of the tower, they may seem steep and narrow. My girl had a bit of a panic attack. For me the view was awesome.

DER STEIRER is a laid-back and trendy destination in Graz, located just a short walk from the old town. It offers a modern take on traditional Styrian cuisine and boasts a wide selection of Austrian wines, paying homage to the area's wine heritage. The restaurant also features a to-go section for souvenirs, allowing guests to customize their own paper gift bags. With its focus on seasonal and authentic Styrian food, it's a popular choice among locals and visitors alike.
My wife, my baby, and I decided to go to Der Steirer for Mother’s Day and grab some traditional Styrian food. We did not have a reservation, and we were initially told that they had no tables. The host then said he would look to see if they could accommodate us. He quickly came back and told us that he had a table for us. My wife and I both ordered some traditional food. Service was very quick, and the atmosphere in the restaurant was great. The food and drinks were well priced, especially for the area that the restaurant is in. Everything was incredibly delicious. I would highly recommend trying this place out if you’re looking for traditional Austrian food.

Great dining experience! We wanted to avoid a touristy spot and really enjoyed having dinner alongside the locals. I booked a table through Google, and the confirmation was prompt. The atmosphere was relaxed, yet the service was classy and professional—with real candles on the tables, cloth napkins, and uniformed waiters. We ordered the goulash, (the real veal) schnitzel, and their Styrian fried chicken—all dishes were delicious. I also recommend their lavender-infused water.
Mihai P — Google review
A busy restaurant – upon my arrival it was already full of guests. I offered to come back later, but at my request they found me a table in a quiet corner. That was very positive. The atmosphere is pleasant – a modern yet simple and elegant setting, exactly what such a bistro should deliver with so many guests. Although the service is bustling, the waiters still pay attention to every guest, and I always received a warm smile. The food is exceptional, a true reflection of Austrian gastronomy. Everything is prepared and presented just as a guest would expect: delicious, homely, soul-warming dishes with a touch of French elegance. The dill and the fish, served with its own caviar, already establish the chef’s signature. And if you still have doubts… try the schnitzel… and finally the apfelstrudel! When I left, I felt love and respect in my heart. That doesn’t usually happen. I recommend it to everyone!

Great spot, thought it would be super busy, but it had many free spots. Recommend coming before six for a guaranteed spot. The Old Town of Graz is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, featuring a well-preserved blend of architectural styles from different periods. The area boasts cobblestone streets and iconic landmarks, showcasing buildings from the Middle Ages, Renaissance, Baroque, and modern times. Visitors can explore the Landhaus courtyard, an exemplary display of Renaissance architecture in Graz, as well as the lively Hauptplatz (main square).
This place is the heart of the city. Architecture and ambiance really fancy. It is a very lively and crowded place. You can go early in the morning and take beautiful photos. Or in the afternoon (sunset) you can see beautiful views to this time. I recommend you to taste the street foods here and talk with local people. You can get inside some buildings. You should go in and look at them. I am sure you will walk around this environment 3-4 times. You should also try cafes and restaurants on the side streets. It has a very different ambiance.

Mid December, advent is in full swing, the town is buzzing with people, it's decorated and lit up so tastefully. Every opening between buildings is a home to a Christmas market. As a world-traveling culinary enthusiast, stepping into Gösser Bräu feels like entering the heart of Graz’s brewing heritage—especially with its charming rooftop beer garden nestled under a chestnut tree canopy. The interior blends sturdy brewery tables with warm lighting, perfect for a comforting evening. The menu, freshly updated for August 2025, features gems like the historic Gösser Bräu Gulasch since 1902 with potatoes, Frankfurter, pickles and a sunny fried egg; creamy Käsespätzle crowned with mountain cheese and crunchy onions; and the ever-cozy Frittatensuppe and Apfelstrudel with whipped cream. The beer selection is impressive—eight taps showcasing local brews that pair effortlessly with each dish. Service stands out—warm, attentive, and genuine—adding to the relaxed, convivial atmosphere. Whether it’s enjoying a sumptuous schnitzel in the rooftop garden or sipping a crisp lager indoors, Gösser Bräu delivers an authentic, hearty taste of Styrian hospitality. A must-visit for those who want tradition, flavor, and atmosphere all in one memorable outing.

The Gösser Bräu looks like a typical old brewery in cliché style. It has some beautiful details and one immediately is absorbed by the atmosphere. However food was unfortunately mediocre at best. I had the Cordon Bleu which is served with potatoes as side. Both main plate and sides lacked taste. The cheese inside the meat was lacking taste - and there was barely some cheese. Service was friendly but not very charming and had no time for a simple smile. Bummer, because the location and the atmosphere is great.

Lovely place close to the city center. Excellent bier and really good service. The menu good with different choices. The food is quite good. Maybe the value for money is little bit higher. We recommend this place.

We stopped here for dinner, with no reservation, but got a table. Service was really nice and attentive. The food was good, not the best, not the worst. We had a beef goulash and a pork schnitzel. Huge portions, the schnitzel could easily be shared by two people (as there were two schnitzels on my plate...). Nice atmosphere, good beer.
Simina S — Google review
At first we came str8 for the beer, and it was incredible! But we were surprised that the menu felt good and the food was very tasty (the mushroom's soup) and the bagel with the typical cheese spread - it went really good with the beer. Also the waiters were really nice, and honest. The only missing thing was that the food felt a bit 'tired' cuz we arrived kind of late.
Sapir — Google review
A nice restaurant with a pleasant atmosphere. The food itself was good and came out as expected, no complaints there. One odd part of the experience: when we were seated, there was an old, stale pretzel already sitting on the table. On a little wooden hanger. At the end of the meal, they tried to charge us for it, even though we hadn’t ordered or touched it. The charge was removed once we pointed it out, but definitely odd. Overall, decent food and a nice setting, but the pretzel incident was unusual.

We had a lovely time there, with very friendly service. The burger was a delight, interesting choice for those who can't eat gluten. Only regret for the wine choice and service, way too cold... Especially for a red wine. Please don't keep these on ice, that's terrorism.

They have a vegan menu! I had the vegan green gold burger with fries and habanero dip. The burger is made of oats, pumpkin's seeds and vegetables. Delicious! A generous portion of fries. Habanero dip is very hot and tasty! Service is excellent, staff is very friendly. The place has a pleasing ambience. Loved the booth seating. A wide variety of alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks. Prices are fair.

The burgers and fries were great! They also have good vegan options. Prices were high and the downside is that you need to pay extra for any other thing, fries for 4+€, and dips for 1.5+€ (even for ketchup!!!) which is non sense to me. If you also get one of their homemade drinks (nothing special), expect to pay smth between 20-30€. If you want a cheaper option but a still a good one, go to Burgerista close by.:))

The meat of the burger was delicious, the bread perfect and the cheese as well (bacon burger). Nothing special.

Nice and elegant Restaurant. We were satisfied with the food and the service. It's a little bit pricy. We paid almost double here than in Vienna.

As a well-traveled food enthusiast, stepping into Landhauskeller is like entering a living tapestry of Styrian tradition and modern grace. Set beneath high vaulted Renaissance arches, the dining room emanates a harmonious blend of warmth and elegance—a place where cozy booths, ambient lighting, and mellow laughter invite you to linger. Though the complete menu remains discreet, I savored a flawlessly crisp Wiener Schnitzel, tender veal, and a refined steak, each dish showcasing the integrity of regional ingredients. Dessert—the comforting apple strudel and indulgent crème brûlée—offered a perfect, sweet punctuation to the meal. The bar, dubbed "Katze Katze," adds a playful, imaginative twist, making each visit feel both elegant and intimate. Service felt heartfelt and polished; staff made me feel genuinely welcome, and every detail—from the dish presentation to the wine recommendation—demonstrated thoughtful care. Landhauskeller isn’t just a meal—it’s an invitation to experience Styrian hospitality at its finest, wrapped in historic charm and culinary sincerity. A truly memorable stop in Graz.

After arriving at Graz, this was our first Styrian meal and it did not disappoint - but rather set the standard! Reservations definitely recommended at this busy restaurant/bar. We were seated in a cozy wood panelled dining area with banquettes. Service was brisk yet attentive throughout. Ordered the deeply satisfying cream of asparagus soup (served hot and perfect to start on a cool October evening!). Schnitzel was huge (standard size) - pounded thin, flavorful and an amazingly thin crunchy crust that seemed to almost float on top of the meat. A serving of lambs lettuce, potato salad, crispy bacon and the sweet vinegary tang with the unmistakable nuttiness of pumpkin seed oil dressing was the perfect side for the schnitzel - no need to separately order a side of rice with peas or parsley potatoes - which we couldn't finish! A wonderful first meal in Graz!

The service was incredibly efficient—fast, attentive, and genuinely friendly, making the experience even more enjoyable. The Wiener Schnitzel was authentic and perfectly cooked, with a deliciously crispy crust and tender meat. Truly a standout dish in both flavor and presentation. My first visit to the lovely town of Graz, Austria, was delightful. The city charmed me with its people, heritage, scenery, and food. There was so much energy as I arrived in town, eager to indulge in authentic Austrian cuisine. The restaurant I visited is situated next to an old heritage house, and dining outdoors was especially enjoyable with the cool night breeze. The menu featured authentic Austrian dishes, and we started with a variety of appetizers: slow-cooked pork neck, lamb salad, beef broth, and beef tartare. Each dish was outstanding. For the main course, I had the charred fillet with truffle spaghetti and sautéed zucchini and tomatoes. The fillet was perfectly cooked, with a charred exterior and moist interior. Most of my colleagues opted for beef dishes, which they also found excellent. Overall, it was a fantastic place to relax with a few glasses of wine.

Family friendly and romantic at the same time. Only negative point: it is not in the castle, but in a large loft-like restaurant beside. Food is good value for the money, althought on the more expensive end. Fair price for most wine, just avoid the overpriced expensive bottles >50 euros.

The concept behind this colorful establishment is intentionally diverse, aiming to create a beautiful mix without strict boundaries. Visitors can indulge in a wide variety of beverages and dishes, including beer, wine, cocktails, delicious coffee paired with delectable cakes, as well as an extensive menu featuring Thai, Asian, vegetarian, and even vegan options.
We stumbled upon this restaurant quite by chance, and what a good decision it turned out to be. Their impressive knowledge of gluten-free options immediately won us over. The food itself was absolutely superb, perfectly complemented by a delightful organic Red Bull cola. Highly recommended.

Food is amazing and price point is good. Highly recommend the shrimp soup, had to go back another time just to have it again - perfect balance of spice and flavour. Vegan spicy mango dish was sadly lacking in sauce so ended up being quite dry. Cute place overall with a big menu. Highly recommend!

Drinks are fine, great even! Food was honestly not great, when you walk through the restaurant and past the kitchen there seems to be some really delightful smelling dishes, but once it’s in front of you it didn’t really taste of anything. I would’ve loved the option to add my own salt and chili or something for an enhanced experience. LOVE in the summer for drinks inside and out, though. Fun bathroom.

We've ordered 3 cacao's and 1 cappuccino XL. Capuccino was good, very strong but good. Cacao's were awful, they were too light. They tasted like a hot milk with some taste of cacao, I've got a feeling that I got a tea spoon of nesquik with hot milk. I was so disappointed, do not order cacao here.

This one was one of the worst food we had. A group of 6 people today… at 17:00 out of beef on a Saturday. Our food did not taste like Thai food. I asked gut spiced fresh chilly and they don’t have fresh chilly. So how can you cook Thai food and don’t have chilly. Service was bad as well… going tithe bathroom and looking in the kitchen said it all.

Minus two stars for charging a same-day cancellation fee (10 Euros per person) - imho unacceptable for a quite regular/everyday place like this on any day of the week, but in particular on a Tuesday evening. And taking off another star (two if I could) for the original behavior of the owner in replying to customer reviews. Your example with the hotel is a poor one: for a hotel, filling a room for the night after a same-day cancellation is much less likely than for a restaurant to fill a table on a busy night. In fact, your restaurant would cash in twice when charging a cancellation fee of 20 Euros a table AND then filling the table with walk-ins. And on a non-busy day, the restaurant would not lose any revenue anyway by not filling the table - so your rationale makes no sense either. Actually, your policy can deter people like me (who cannot fully plan the time the get off work) from even coming when reservations come with the risk of fees. So you lose turnover and customers - congrats! And to your question - yes, I know your place very well, have been there many times. I will refrain from frequenting it again in the foreseeable future. My thanks to your friendly team (of which you seem to hire too few, as service is sometimes quite slow).

Flann O'Brien Original Irish Pub is a popular spot in Graz, known for being one of the first places to serve craft beer in the area. The pub offers a wide selection of bottled and canned beers, making it a go-to destination for beer enthusiasts. With live music almost every night, it's the liveliest Irish pub in town. The outdoor courtyard provides a great space for summer relaxation.
A delicious Irish pub with a relaxing atmosphere. I ordered the Guinness Stew which was the best I think I've ever tried. I also had their cider & shandy. The shandy wasn't my favorite, it tasted floral like which I'm typically not a fan of but my partner liked it. The cider I got was whatever one they had on tap & it was very good. Very typical European dining experience here so you will have to wave your server to come over but I like that experience over being checked up on constantly like in the US.

Brot & Spiele, located at Mariahilferstrasse 17 in the heart of Graz, is renowned for its delicious Argentine steaks and burgers. The restaurant exudes a Cuban atmosphere with South American rhythms and offers a shady garden for guests to relax in during the summer. Additionally, it houses a billiards hall and serves as a meeting point for chess and dart enthusiasts.
One of my favourite places in Graz. I was born in Graz and since I was a teenager I would go there with my Dad to play Billiard, drink something and have a burger. Phenomenal atmosphere and cool location right in the coty center. You can also play Darts, Chess or different types of Poker there. The Burgers are really good and the insane selection of beer makes it very unique. I would recommend this place everyone who's chill and wants to have a good time.

Wow...the name in English is "bread and games", yet we watched them ask a group to leave their patio because they were playing chess...which is a game. This group had at least 6 drinks and 2 appetizers and were into their game for over 2 hours when they were asked to leave. There are even chess pieces pictured on the walls of their patio...just doesn't make sense. Was during the afternoon when patio area was not even busy. I understand that this establishment allows noise into the late hours which is horrible for those living near, yet their concern is a game of chess for paying customers.

It is one of the 'build-your-own' concept restaurants in Graz where you can customize your burgers, pizzas, salads, and more. This makes it an ideal place to break the ice and enjoy a meal while taking in the view over Jakominiplatz.
Area 5 is a fantastic spot with a great selection of food 🍽️, and I loved the freedom to customize what I wanted on my meal. They offer plenty of vegetarian options too, which is a huge plus for anyone looking for meat-free choices 🌱. The service was really friendly and attentive, and the view over Jakominiplatz in Graz was a nice bonus, especially with their open-air seating section 🌞🌆. Unlike what other reviews said, the service was slow and we had to wait quite a while to get our lunch; also the table was quite dirty. The concept of making up your own lunch on a slip of paper is nice and innovative and the food was ok and cheap. The ambience is young and quite crowded.

There can’t be many better places in Graz for a beer at the end of a sunny day. Wonderful views, great service, a decent selection of draft and bottled beer, and sensible prices! Was it just me or this place is just the best place in all of the Graz! As soon as we arrived, staff came up to us and with SUPER friendly approach they helped us with with our order. Considering that we don't know a lot of German and there were a lot of other costumers, the waitress stayed with us to show us the menu. After we ordered our pizzas, not much time passed until it arrived. And oh boy!! This guys really know what they are doing!! I couldn't believe that an costum order pizza could taste better than any other I had before! The doe was crispy, not dry at all and just with a mild taste so it can compliment all the toppings. Go crazy with your order. I'm interested what you will find in your imagination ;)

Guests can indulge in special dining experiences like the four-course Candle Light Dinner or the Dom Perignon Package for memorable occasions.
Atmosphere was great ! Me and my friends sat on the table next to natural rock wall (a little bit secluded from others) with great views towards the city. Music was pleasant so we enjoyed in chat, coffee and drinks a couple of hours. Service was very nice …. They were asking us couple of times do we want to order something more and we ordered a few rounds, but without to much disturbance. They have very interesting options for dinner so I am looking forward to trying it some other time. They also have very interesting cooking lessons here. It is actually lovely historical place! So here are a few historical facts: In 1575 Dionisio Tadei, the fortification architect constructed a powder magazine at the bottom of the Stall Bastian which was destroyed by the French in 1809. In 1820 Dr. Hodl built a vintage house on the ruins with the little Gothic towers and grew vines on the terraces below. Since the turn of the century Gustav Stracke (1848-1921), an actor from Dresden lived here and wrote poems dedicated to the Schlossberg.

Stopped by Starcke Haus Gourmetrestaurant-Wein-Café while visiting Schloßberg — it’s definitely a lovely little place with an amazing view over the city. Perfect spot for a quick coffee or drink break while taking in the scenery. We just had a quick drink, and overall everything was fine. The service was friendly, and the staff seemed attentive and polite. The seating area outside is especially nice if the weather is good calm, quiet, and surrounded by nature. The only small issue was with one of the alcohol free drinks. They advertised it as alcohol-free, but it didn’t really taste like it was, which was a bit confusing. That aside, the rest of the experience was good. It’s a solid place for a short break during your walk around Schloßberg.

Here at the Starcke Haus, or as the locals say the "Starcke Häuschen" due to its small size, you will experience the wild beauty of the Schloßberg, Graz' famous Castle Hill, on which also the clock tower is located, the landmark of Graz. The Starcke Haus, named after an actor from Dresden Gustav Starcke who lived here, has a long tradition and is built onto the Schloßberg, meaning this place is nestled up on the castle hill of Graz, and from here you can see over large parts of the famous UNESCO-listed Old Town of Graz. There is a sun terrace as well as a long-stretched nice patio nestled up on the hill, which is easy to reach from the Starcke Haus itself. The Cappuccino we had here was very delicious and sipped in a very need environment reminding of a little Zen Garden. As the Starcke Haus itself is inside more of a tiny lodge I strongly recommend to sit outside in the patio if possible, but as this place is nestled up on the hill it is very very wind shielded and therefore even on the few stormy days of Graz something to consider going to. The spectacular and the fine atmosphere is also something for couples, who want to have it more romantic than elsewhere. From Graz with Love! Dr. Dr. Immanuel Fruhmann

In one sentence: Please just don't go there... Two friends advised me not to go there, because they experienced the waiters as very unfriendly and everything is overpriced. Still, I wanted to give it a try anyway. Unfortunately I have to fully agree with them. We ordered Café, and after not even one hour we were asked to leave the restaurant because at that time we didn't want to order another drink. At any given moment, this is a no go to do, but it was even worse as there were still three other tables free! There are plenty of nice bars and restaurants in graz, also on the Schlossberg. Just choose another one :-)

The Arnold Schwarzenegger Museum is located in the childhood home of the famous celebrity and politician. The museum showcases a variety of objects and photos from different stages of his life, including his time as a bodybuilder, actor, and Governor of California. Visitors can explore the original bed from his youth and learn about various aspects of his career. The museum also features a sausage stand that Schwarzenegger frequents during his visits to Graz.
Yesterday was Arnold 78th birthday - and I couldn’t celebrate better - by visiting his birthplace! Amazing place, nice people, we had birthday cake and apple strudel. Must visit for all of his fans. Great atmosphere and energy. Really loved it ❤️
Martin P — Google review
You need to be a big Arnold fan to really like this place. It’s not huge and the stuff there is very specific to eras of his life. It’s a lot of niche stuff but still very cool to see. His childhood house was bigger than I expected and still really well preserved. There is a cool abandoned castle beside it where he used to explore as a kid. Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area and an Arnold fan. My daughter enjoyed the scavenger hunt, and getting apples off the tree to eat.
Adam A — Google review
A must-visit for any Arnold Schwarzenegger fan! 💪🏽 The museum is set in his actual childhood home, full of personal items, movie props, and great stories from his bodybuilding and Hollywood days. It’s not a huge place, but packed with fun details from his first dumbbells to Terminator memorabilia. And here’s the best part: if you subscribe to their newsletter, they’ll give you a free fridge magnet! 😄 The parking area also has charging spots for both electric cars and bikes. 🎬🏋️‍♂️⚡
Bud S — Google review
Finally I made it! For an Arnold's fan this place is special. First of all you get to know how he was living when he was young. For me it is interesting because it was not so bad as he says (at least compared to eastern Europe). Second, you have the opportunity to see Thal, and actually how beautiful it is. The museum is great. Lots of stuff from movies and his life. For me the most important one - not sure if this is the original one, but the sword of Conan. Pretty interesting to see it. All in all, I would recommend stopping by if you are around.
Maciej F — Google review
I visited the Arnold Schwarzenegger Museum today and it was surreal to step into the actual house where Arnold grew up. Driving through the quiet neighborhood, I kept thinking, "Wow! This is literally where young Arnold walked the streets, dreamed big, and started his journey to becoming the star he is today. The museum itself is fascinating and full of history, with rooms dedicated to his bodybuilding, Hollywood, and political careers. That said, it could use a little TLC—some of the displays feel a bit low-budget and could be refreshed to match the larger-than-life story being told. Still, if you’re an Arnold fan (or just love quirky, unique museums), it’s absolutely worth the trip. You’ll get a mix of nostalgia, inspiration, and some fun photo ops with memorabilia and statues. Plan on about 30–60 minutes to see everything. Not a massive destination, but a very cool, very personal glimpse into the origins of a global icon.
Brian B — Google review
We happened to drive by and saw the house where the legendary Arnold was born. How could we not stop? 💪 We didn’t regret it for a second! Inside, everything was so fascinating that even the closets seemed suspiciously big — maybe that’s where Arnie kept his first dumbbells? 😄 We looked at every detail, as if searching for the secret recipe to becoming the Terminator. We had a great time and definitely recommend it! 🚴‍♂️✨
Tetiana P — Google review
Great museum that has a non-corporate feeling to it. That’s why it is so special: it is made by true fans of Arnold and you can tell Arnold wholeheartedly endorsed this museum in his former house — rather than giving the licensing rights to some big corporation. Loved the atmosphere, the vibes. This is where greatness came into being! 😊

A definite must-see for any Arnold fan! While the museum is on the smaller side, it's packed with some really cool memorabilia. Well worth the visit.

The market also features Murodner potatoes, Kernol pumpkin seed oil and local beers like Reininghaus Edel Pils and Puntigamer Lager.
Lively and offering a lot of choices, bio meats, great breads, permaculture stands, in addition to great selection of veggies. Food truck / options to eat on location. July 2019 there is reconstruction so the market moved to the other side of the Opera. We were told it's open daily with the biggest market happening on Saturday.

Very nice open market for fruit, vegetables, mushrooms, sausages, jams, honeys, bread, cakes, juices, and other regional specialities. Prices are not excessive but certainly not cheap. There's a good selection though. If you want to see all stalls open, you should come earlier than the indicated closing time, as not all stalls stay open until the end. The market is easy to be accessed, as there's a tramway stop just there (for the Graz opera).

I love this marked. Always fresh seasonal fruit, vegetable, meat and self made bread to find. All grown by local farmers around the area. Very sustainable and traditional place. On every corner you will find a different good smell to every type of food you can imagine. They also sell flowers there, If you need some for a special event. If you need to rest you can sit down and get fresh cold smoothies, juices and coffee or hot chocolate. I would recommend to bring either your own bags, backpack or a box to put in your bought items, otherwise you have to waste many plastic bags...and who does that at a farmers market. The market is in the city centre and well connected to public transport, and bike lines. This is for sure a great place for every type of person in every age group.

A cosy vegan Cafe in the center. I've been coming here for years. Great coffee, great food on the healthier side. I usually order the chocolate porridge/lux bagel or the greenhouse Bowl. The cakes are also lovely, probably the best vegan cakes around.

We came for breakfast and i have to say i am impressed with the taste, quality and staff. All was perfect, ambient is amazing and relaxed. The portions are ok. The one thing i disliked is the pricing and thats why i cannot come here again. Its a bit of a price overkill for me. Otherwise i would be here everyday. I advise the cafe for sure!

The Green House is the old town coffee shop of the Ginko – vegetarian restaurant. In other words the Green House is a great coffee shop, a happening place for young people of this vibrant university town, Graz. This place is in one of the little passages in the old town of Graz. Here is also the patio located at. The apple pie and sour cherry-chocolate cake we had, as well as the Linzertorte, this very Austrian marmalade cake, were very delicious. The seating is comfy and the atmosphere is nice and comes with many vintage elements. There are even books to read (children’s book). The staff is nice and represents the spirit of this place. The prices are reasonable, given the location and the quality of this healthy vegetarian food at the Green House. From Graz with Love! Dr. Dr. Immanuel Fruhmann

The spacious room features beautiful vaulted ceilings, making it perfect for relaxing after work. The attentive service and lovely atmosphere make Klapotetz Weinbar an excellent choice for a nice evening out.
Sat in the courtyard and enjoyed a very good glass of wine. Service was friendly and attentive. A place to have a relaxed drink and chat.

Even though it says here that the bar closes at 22:00, and the employees admit as much, if you come there at 21:30 you won't be able to order a glass of wine. They just want to go home earlier.

It was very unpleasant when we came to have a glass of wine after a concert at the Philharmonic, at 21:30, and the waitress told us that the hall is empty and they were closing. I reasonably remarked that the hall is not empty if we were there, but the mood was already ruined, although according to the rules they were supposed to close the place only after half an hour. It feels like the employees don't care about the reputation of this place 😒

What a discovery, great location, the owner is a Sommelier and was super helpful and informative, she introduced us to Sammling by Pilch and their Sauvignon, we bought a bottle of the Sammling and have ordered more wine from Pilch. If you are going in the evening I would suggest booking as there maybe an event

Coffee was very good. Bagel with prosciutto was top-notch. The bread was perfectly warm and moderately crunchy. Staff were very helpful since I knew no German and I had no idea which bagel to choose.

This is my dear friend’s favorite coffee shop in Graz, and I totally understand why. Not only is their coffee strong and smooth, and their food delicious, but it’s such a nice place to hang out. There’s indoor and outdoor seating, and we sat near the window to be able to look outside and people watch. It was so pleasant. I also loved the baristas made a little smile face art on the latte I ordered. It was so good, smooth and tasty. They had a little bar where you could add sugar and some flavorings to the coffee (my American self very appreciated this). They even had chocolate powders. Last, the bagel sandwich was YUM. A poppyseed bagel with pesto, tomato, spinach and egg, so fresh and delicious. They had a lot of tempting baked goods and sweets as well.

I had the best scrambled eggs in Graz here! (The scrambled eggs with veggies and ham - but instead of ham I asked for cheese). We came here for breakfast. The waitress was very friendly and even the other customers were friendly! The clientele is older, I think we were probably the youngest people there (in our mid-30s) but I liked the more classic and traditional feel of the place.

One of the cheaper places I've come across in Austria. Food was good - you can customize your own pizzas, burgers etc. Price was good and variety of beer available. Charming little coffee shop in the beautiful city of Graz. The owner and her daughter were incredibly friendly and welcoming. They recommended the Colombia V60, which turned out to be perfect for our taste, also tried the cappuccino, which was skillfully made and thoroughly enjoyable. Though the seating area is small, it’s definitely worth a stop for any coffee lover. We picked up some beans to take home. They also offer a great selection of coffee equipment at reasonable prices. Highly recommended!

Sadly this business used to have a cafe at a different address, and post-covid only has this shop-in-shop offering, where the coffee machine is teeny tiny and the barista doesn’t know what a flat white is. Everyone was friendly - but the photos and reviews from two years ago are vastly different to today’s offering.

Probably the best coffee in Graz. There's not much seating space, but it makes for a cosy atmosphere, which is augmented by the old vinyl records that provide a nice background soundtrack. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Only downside is that there's no bathroom.
Soph H — Google review
I researched this place beforehand and was really looking forward to visiting. Unfortunately I was pretty disappointed. I ordered a filter coffee that took almost 15 minutes! They were somewhat busy, but there was 3 guys working and people who ordered after me got more complicated drinks (cappuccino's, latte's etc.) before I got mine. When I finally got my coffee to go, it was literally HALF full. It tasted good, but for the price, I expect a full coffee. They also do not have bathrooms, and the place is so small that I would be surprised if it could accommodate 10 people. I was very underwhelmed and do not see myself coming back here.
Nicholas — Google review
I'm reviewing my experience with Buna in the Fesch'Markt, NOT the place downtown. 1st of all extraction. Espresso UNDER EXTRACTED. Guatemala beans should bring chocolate, toffee sweet flavors. Should be soft and gentle. His extraction was SOUR, lacking creams, without any complexity nor in the flavors nor in the aromas. 2nd. Experience. NOT very friendly. I asked about description for two different coffes, each from a different country of origin. The answer was: The brand... With all due respect, but a proper barista should explain about the notes of the coffee, flavors, aroma, taste in mouth, notes and under notes, where the coffee is harvested, what height, big lots, small lots, etc... So, as a coffee geek who have tried specialty coffee all over the world, I can't recommend it. Hopefully it was just one time that things were not working out for them.

Food is excellent here. I’ve had the deer and the chicken and then the chorizo dish that they give you because they want to charge you five euros for the napkins. The lunch special is probably the way to go, but it’s also a nice place for a romantic dinner. One star deducted or not having soap in the women’s bathroom. Only men were working in the kitchen, so I guess I didn’t worry on the hygiene aspect as much, but then if only men are working for the business, that creates its own set of issues.

If you're eager to dive deep into the rich tapestry of a country's history, the Folk Life Museum in Graz is an essential stop on your journey. Nestled within a former Capuchin monastery at Paulustor, this museum showcases an impressive array of exhibits that span from ancient times to contemporary cultural phenomena. Here, you can explore traditional attire and intricate handicrafts while gaining insights into prehistoric life and societal evolution.
There are exhibitions, there is a church and a library(was closed when I visited). I can clearly suggest this museum, if you are interested in the local culture and history. I spent almost two hours in the museum.

A very underrated museum about the Styrian culture and life from the past till now told through several themes like transportation or communication. The museum gets you to think about how things were like. There was a real wealth of information - we spent 1hour and think it's not enough despite it being a small museum. Student tickets available. Only suggestion is to give more context to what they have written and tell it more like a story. And also there was nothing on colonialism besides something on chickens in ghana. Even the holocaust was only very briefly touched upon. There are english descriptions which we appreciated.
Lhea D — Google review
This museum has an interesting concept of telling a story about Graz and Styria in an unusual manner (mostly) without expensive artifacts. Howevere, many of the items displayed have a story behind them. The pearls are the "smoke room", a wooden bicycle and replicas of historic clothes. It takes 1 - 2 hours to experience the museum properly. It's surely worth of a visit.

A great little bar with a lovely owner Plenty of seating both inside and out. Excellent choice of background music to chill out to. They do a bring your own vinyl night on Tuesdays. We'll arrange our next visit to coincide with this.

Vintage Bar is an absolute gem of a pub. They offer a fantastic selection of beers, and what makes the experience even more special is that the owner, Maria, is a certified beersommelier. Her passion and knowledge are truly impressive—she even took the time to show and explain the entire Bierstacheln process to me. It was such a unique and memorable experience. Thank you, Maria! Beyond the beer, the atmosphere is incredibly warm and welcoming. It’s the kind of place where you instantly feel at home. Can’t recommend it enough!

Maria the owner is wonderful and so welcoming. Love this place 🌈

For sure there's no place like this on Austria. My favourite ever! Maria is such a fantastic host, the Limoncellos are just AMAZING, the decoration is so cozy... It's a place we can see tender everywhere, in each detail, even in the toilet for the ladies. My better experience on a place on Austria. I should took a lot of pictures, but I couldn't this time.

Lovable owner, amazing service, impcable products. What can I say I was blown away by the place. If you are looking for the best austrian craft beer - come here. You’l be surprised.

TU Graz, located in Austria, is a renowned institution known for its exceptional architecture and engineering programs. The university's students have showcased their talents through innovative projects such as designing habitable bridges over the Danube in Vienna. The quality of work submitted for the Graz Architecture Diploma prizes was so impressive that two first prizes were awarded. Additionally, TU Graz fosters cooperative networking projects with various cultural institutions, providing a rich learning environment for its students.

Well to be honest a PHD graduated candidate from this university is teaching us computer science in virtual university of Pakistan , the way this person speaks english is horrible and understanding his lecture is another story apart

If you didn't go to a HTL or you arent a very smart (IQ minimum 130) student I would recommend studying somewhere else. It is unrealistic to get a degree here for most people. It should also be mentioned that there are many abstract math classes that only smart people will be able to pass. Some bachelor's also contain way too many math classes that will never be required at a job level. I recommend going to a FH for studying IT or engineering. If someone is interested in math or physics, only apply if you got a 1 in school and you are very smart. If that's not the case, you will probably not graduate.

Wonderful facilities and great staff" We were blessed to rehearse here for our Euro Choir trip and everyone was so helpful. Facilities were great - room size generous, pianao in tune, toilets nearby. Its was a great experience for everyone and one that all 36 of us won't forget.

The exam schedule is quite inconvenient: it starts too late and takes place in the evenings, whereas most other universities finish their exams by the end of May. This gives the impression of poor organizational planning

The Grand Hôtel Wiesler in Graz is a trendy and historic hotel that beautifully blends the old and the new. Situated along the riverside, this charming hotel offers rustic-chic accommodations with stunning river views. The recent renovation has restored the hotel to its original 1909 style, creating a unique and cosmopolitan atmosphere. Guests can enjoy a bar/restaurant, spa area, and gym during their stay.
I booked this hotel because it is really close to the city center and also had good value per night. Got the smallest room, which is cosy and enough for a weekend stay. I liked the placement of the beds. The room looked clean, but I think while we were away there did not happen too much cleaning around the bedding area. I have allergy and while I was trying to sleep I had to get medication to ease my breathing, which never happened while I was outside. Breakfast looked and felt fancy, although a bit crowded. All in all I loved to stay here

Room is very basic. It was raining and we had to close the windows, as the noise from the rain falling on the glass construction was very loud! The soap in the shower was empty of soap, filled with water. The only good thing was the location, as it is close to the center.

Total disgrace ! One elevator didn’t work. The wall needed to be painted . The floor of my room 308 looks like a roller skating rink full of luggage tracks. The room cleaning is substandard. Worst and the worst of the worse is the WiFi didn’t work well. It was unstable going from no internet to 1 bar to 2 bars in my antenna to no internet to 1 bar to no internet. The bathroom door is transparent . The receptionists were all very nice. The hotel manager and the company that manages this hotel need to stay there themselves to experience what I experienced. My advice. Don’t waste money on this hotel. Go somewhere. else. Update. I am now in Plitvice Lakes National Park. I am staying in guest house. The WiFi in the middle of nowhere is much better than the this place which is in the capital of Styria .

We had the absolute pleasure of being served by George who is warm, professional and personable. His cocktails were creative, perfectly balanced & absolutely delicious; his espresso martini 🍸 is unmatched. We had a drink before dinner then came back knowing the service is Great. George & Sophie went above & beyond in every way, turning an already great visit into something memorable. Thanks for the great hospitality! We highly recommend even if you’re not staying here as a guest at the hotel to pop in for a drink, The bar/restaurant is stunningly beautiful. Thank you! Marty, Joel, Sergiu xoxox we hope to be back

I was trying to post photos as I was traveling, and had bad Internet connection and mistakenly didn't finish the ratings. I appreciate the feedback below, and sorry for the mistake. The hotel staff were very nice and the hotel is beautiful and historic. I loved it so much, I took pictures of the architecture drawings in the stairways. I will hopefully have the chance to visit again.

They forgot about bathroom door. Doesn't feel comfortable for a family stay with children to take a shower. Probably feels better for a pair. First evening guy at reception desk could't speak German and wasn't feeling good in English, so it was hard to pay for this stay, he clicked some unfavorouble option at pin pad, so bank would charge me extra 40EUR for this stay. Luckily in the morning next day we met really nice guy, who was able to speak both English and German and we were able to straighten all out. Great location in the center of Graz. Comfortable, big room. Caffe and parking spot is available for visitors.

Super location in the middle of Graz. Excellent breakfast. Impressive list of ex-guests. A little modernization of the room we booked would be nice.

The rooftop haven provides stunning views of the city's red rooftops and is an ideal spot for a romantic evening with its exclusive 5-course menu and aperitif. Accessible via Schlossbergbahn, this go-to destination boasts friendly staff and is known for offering one of the best views in Graz.
Super Service!!

A little pricey, but great food. One waitress was quite rude at first, but another one more than made up for it.
Sv O — Google review
Lovely bar / restaurant with an amazing view over Graz. Beautiful in the sunshine and they even have blankets to cover your knees / shoulders if the wind gets up. The drinks menu is extensive with some great cocktails available. The staff are very friendly and the atmosphere is relaxed and uncomplicated. Prices are reasonable but not cheap - probably to be expected for such an exclusive location. Only downside is that the toilets are down 1 flight of stairs - there is a lift though.

5 stars only for the service and the atmosphere. food and drinks are highly overpriced.

Cristian S — Google review
I like it very much for the view, but not for the service and prices. They are pretty slow and the drinks are really expensive. I had 2 dry Martinis (not the cocktail, but the plain Martini) and I was charged 16€ which is excessive as it's not whiskey or strong spirits neither a cocktail.
