Beautiful classic fish restaurant in Hamburg - can really feel the history of the place. Fish and seafood dishes are excellent, all are very rich and buttery. Recommend the mixed starter, with 5 separate small items for variety. Service was excellent and decor very cool

This was my favourite restaurant in Northern Germany. High quality food, great service and the ambiance proper old school - I love it! The Scholle is so good! Must visit when back in HH!

The food, the wine and the service is all impeccable. We love Hamburg in general, been here several times. But you can’t miss this gem. The waiting staff is very talented in my opinion. We didn’t have to think ourselves for even a moment. Thank you!

I have no idea what other people are eating when they say "world class"... but that was NOT our experience. Smoked Eel and scrambled egg was a novelty for a non-native and surprisingly, very pleasant. Everything we ate after that was a dissapointment. Staff were pleasant, if somewhat erratic and MIA, which is hard to fathom as there are a LOT of staff on the floor. My wife was really looking forward to a good Sole Meunière - unfortunately, over cooked, (seemingly either shallow or possibly deep fried, but didnt taste like it was done in butter?) the flesh was dry and the whole fish was presented naked, on a bare plate with a jug of what looked and tasted like a mix of hot vegetable oil and (possibly?) butter that she was to "dress" it with... ? Not great value for money at €75. (NB Had my wife insisted that I "not make a fuss" I would have sent both her's and mine back) The North Sea Turbot I had @€69.50 was equally dissapointing. Again it appeared to have been over cooked and possibly deep fried as it had a hard "shell" of flour or a batter of some sort all over it? The flesh inside was tasteless. The "mess" of overcooked vegetables created the final factor in the trifecta of dissapointment that was our €300+ last meal in the beautiful city of Hamburg. We were really excited to finish off our visit to Hamburg on a high note but left without finishing either main dish or the bottle of wine. We left quietly, very dissapointed and unsatisfied from what should have been, by all accounts, a sensational seafood dinner... Who knows, maybe the main chef was off on a Monday Night and they let the apprentice cook our meals?

Great place! Very good service, the only thing that made me question 5 stars is host who does not speak English. But all the waiters do speak English! Atmosphere and interior is interesting, but a bit not cozy. Food was great, a bit overpriced, as, for example, crème brûlée was not breaking properly. Overall good impression, strong 4 ⭐️

Everything was great. The food was Amazing, the service was excellent, friendly staff and chefs, nice atmosphere. We ordered 4 courses menu and some drinks. Everything was great, it was such a nice taste experience and evening. Recommended!

All in all a wonderful experience with very delicious food. The sushi was definitely special and something I never had before. The service was very forthcoming and truly professional. Even though the dining room was getting fuller by the minute, the service was right on time. The Prices were a little bit high for my taste, but not uncommon, especially in that area. The quality of the food they presented justified the prices anyhow at the end. Definitely recommendable.

The service is good, all the staff is friendly and helpful. The atmosphere is good, nice ''industrial'' modern style. The food.......it's pretty much ''Europeanized'' sushi. For German/European standard, it's good sushi. But for Japanese standard, that's too much sause on top. Eating tempura with mayo and dipping sauce, not with dashi wasn't really for Japanese. We ordered the MIX sushi plate, all the sushi and sashimi were covered with sause, which kills the actual taste of fish, which was a bit dissapointing. Using paprika for sushi is just not a good idea. Paprika has too strong taste for sensitive sushi. Sake was good, goes well with sushi. It was very nice to have a wet hand towel, I felt like being in Japan.

The best sushi I have eaten in Germany. Really good, be aware that the price is a little bit high but it is worth it. I will come back for sure. Everything is fresh and yummy. Make a reservation because a lot of people go there , no wonder it is so delicious. Staff very friendly. Perfect for special moments.

Best sushi I ever ate. The staff was really nice and polite. We had the recommended menu which was just perfect. Absolutely nothing to complain about. I can’t wait to go there again!

I definitely recommend this restaurant! It was a nice surprise in Hamburg. The bread and the dip were quite good! Then I ate the fish and it was amazing! However the pasta disappointed a bit. The risotto and the tuna were also pleasant choices! All the dishes brought agreeably flavour mixes sensations, so it was good to try different dishes compared to the usual ones.

We order the course dinner but the 3tier presentation for the respective course was nice but not practicable as the food gets cold while we take time to finish. Would prefer the conventional way of serving. Appertiser; tuna tartare was good . Oyster was not clean well as it was still sandy. For the main, tuna and salmon was a bit dry. Dessert :Tiramisu was good .

So glad I returned to this very friendly and charming neighbourhood restaurant after 10 years, only wish it had not been so long. Very attentive and jovial service and a fabulous variety of fresh fish but deciding what to have was a difficult choice! Prawns, Bouillabaisse, oysters, halibut, sea bass, tuna, salmon, sea bream, pike-perch! Very glad I opted for the prawns, they were sublime, some of the best I have experienced. Followed by a mountain of aromatic mussels all washed down with copious quantities of wine - the list much improved from my previous visit. Altogether excellent value for money and definitely worth the 20 minute bus ride from the centre(Bus 6 or 17 from around the Hauptbahnhof). Highly recommended if you enjoy fish sympathetically prepared.

(Last visited 12/1/2023.) It speaks volumes of a certain restaurant when I've been to this part of the world 2 times and have eaten here 3 times. Liman truly blew us away with our first experience so we came back again and again. Here's why... Atmosphere/Appearance: This place is set in Hamburg, but a little further away from the hustle & bustle of downtown in more of a residential section, but still busier than a suburb. Reservations are recommended, but whenever we came here it never seemed busy. The inside is very modern, chic, contemporary, upscale and laid back. It was quiet and just made for a great place I would love to hang out in. Service: Apart from the food, Alice, our server was another reason we kept on coming back. She was truly amazing. She was sweet, funny, personable, made great recommendations and just had an addictive personality. Food: We've tried everything from the filet mignon, to the salmon, to the mixed grill, a series of desserts, pulpo, scallops, you name it. They never missed. This place specialized in seafood, hence its name and it nailed every single dish. My wife literally dreamt about the salmon with the pea foam or whatever it was after the first time she had it. Then the dessert! I could go on and on, but I won't since I only have so many characters to use. The food is exquisite... that's why we kept on coming back. Value: It's a seafood restaurant. Enough said. It's going to be expensive, but not suit & tie-dinner jacket required type of expensive. Bring your wallet regardless because you're going to want everything on the menu. Lol. You can guess my conclusion. Although, our friend Alice no longer works there, the food will still keep us coming back over and over to try more things on the menu every time we're in Hamburg. Lovely atmosphere and very good quality of cusine. We came here spontaneously for late Luch and didn't regret it. Owner is very friendly person.I had for my luch Grilled Dorade with Ratatouille and Truffle potatoes. Ratatouille is the best one wich I had in Germany this year. I think the secret is roasted bell papper and tomato for sauce. Taste of vegetable is so intense. So my fish was GRILLED perfectly and not loaded with salt. Very often in Germany quantity of salt to high and this is a big problem. Here everything was top. You dint need be warrid about quality. Top.Pasta with lobster was choosen by my husband. He say sause/ jus was very creamy and delicious. Pasta cooked perfectly al dente .Portions ideal for French people. Due very hot day we skipped desserts Facit :we definitely will come again.

This is a prime example of fake " fine dining" without any real skill or technique. Flashy Churchill plates and stuffy ambiance made to disguise sub par ingredients and inadequately prepared food. We started off with the prawns. The sauce was very nice..creamy, slightly spicy and seasoned just right, the prawns were standard frozen Argentinian red prawns that most restaurants use (the logic of buying frozen shrimp while being less than 100km from the north sea is beyond me) . Definitely not overcooked but a bit chewy as a consequence of the freezing. A promising start nonetheless. We ordered 2 mixed grill fish plates which lacked imagination and were utterly bland and boring, zero salt..zero pepper.The skin was soggy which isn't really acceptable for a restaurant specialized in fish cookery? Mashed potatoes were lumpy and dense and the mangold (chard) completely unseasoned. What a shame

WOW! That’s the only way I can describe this place. I’m living since long in Hamburg and this became my new favorite restaurant! The menu was delicious and all the little additional bites we got from the kitchen made it even better! Service, view, food all unbeatable! Definetly recommend

Great location on elbe River, pretty fancy location replicating the container area and with a nice view on the maritime station. The food is nice with great presentation in spite the taste might be a little bit upgraded to be really super top, I assume of they would make it they might get something lore than a mention in the michelin guide. The service is good, precise and kind in spite might be consistent overall the whole evening. If you want to impress someone than this might be your place.

It was an absolute highlight. Location is beautiful. Service outstanding and the food a fine experience of different flavors. My favorites “pulp carpaccio” and the dessert “blueberry cheesecake” it is way more than you expect.

Great foods and great suggestion of wines and liquors. Espresso martini and gin are really good. Foods are also good. We had tartar beef and yellowfin as starters and fried whole fish and deep fried prawns. The only thing I cannot give 5 stars is waiting time for food.

We did not enjoy Au Quai/Am Kai at all. In fact its one of our worst experiences of “fine dining”. Lets start with the food. We took the tasting menu which consisted of 5 dishes: 2 starters, 2 mains and a dessert. The starters (“amuse gueule” and the yellowfin tuna) were not bad. In fact we later dound out they were the best part of the meal. From there we got to the bouillabaisse - that dish was way too salty, with a broth that we could not eat. 5 pieces of fish (one of each kind) and thats it. We left it as is. The other starter was the cod. While the cod was presented nicely (picture attached) it lacked any taste whatsoever. Tasted quite dull. The jerusalem artichoke creme and fennel were also very salty. We ate it only because we were hungry. The dessert was a chocolate fondant. Not different to the one you would get in the local italian restaurant. Average by all means. From here we go to the service: - Not taking plates after theyre finished and bringing in new plates. - Water pitcher that was left empty and on the table for 30 minutes before someone took it. - Waiters unorganized, we got the desserts menu despite us ordering a tasting menu. - Napkin that was taken from my wife (maybe it was dirty?) and not returned - so she used mine for the rest of the bill. - 10 minutes to wait for the bill after sitting in the restaurant for 3 hours (theres a long waiting time between the dishes). And to top it all of, I have never ever been in a restaurant that charges €8 for water and its not even bottled! Came out of a “beer tap” into a pitcher. Filtered water? Not sure. The only bright side of the night was the bartender, the only person in the team that identified thing’s proactively and made it a little less terrible experience. Paying €200 for the food and service is not justifiable. You ruined my wifes birthday. Dishes that are presented nicely is not enough, they need to taste good as well. Will not return!

What truly elevated the evening was the non-alcoholic pairing. Far from an afterthought, it was innovative, bold, and perfectly matched to each course. From fermented infusions to botanical blends, every drink was a revelation — enhancing the dishes in ways I didn’t think possible without wine. I highly recommend opting for it, if it is a workday the next day — it’s a refreshing and inspiring alternative that deserves just as much praise.

Great Art does not arise from the desire to be everybody’s darling. Without any doubt this evening has been a wonderful experience, although all three of us had our moments where getting the message was kind of challenging. Apple and Peach wine in the wine pairing was a fearless approach that definitely accepted to cause some irritation. Both did make sense with the corresponding dish, but at least I was unable to find a common ground and become best friends with this selection.

The overall experience is worth of the one Michelin star the restaurant has. The overall tasting menu was very good and overall it was a nice experience thanks to the service. The only “complaint” i would have is that the “surprises” at the beginning are a bit too strong in terms of flavor vs what is coming next. I would like expect that the flavors to go higher as we progress through the menu but it was not the case. I would still recommend visiting when in Hamburg!

Beautiful food in a casual setting. The restaurant is really small so you should definitely reserve a table before coming. Staff is friendly and helpful, not too intruding into the private space of the guests. It's a seafood restaurant but there are many meat options and also vegan ones. Their food is pretty good, but also not too spectacular. The pasta seems tobe homemade and super delicious - chewy and comforting. The bread and whatever the dipping sauce/cheese was amazing. For a seafood restaurant, I expected the salmon to be better. It was a tiny bit too dry and needs more seasoning when I was there. The Parmesan foam looks nice, but doesn't really contribute much to the flavor of the dishes. Oh, and high praise to the silverware!

AMAZING! INCREDIBLE! HEAVEN! MICHELIN STAR DINING EXPERIENCE LIKE NO OTHER! I have had the pleasure of dining twice at Jellyfish and both times have blown me away. This is a dining experience not to be missed! A young team have found a way to offer a Michelin star dining experience in a wonderfully relaxed atmosphere. The dress code is casual, the customers from all walks of life and the food is to die for. Every mouthful hits the tastebuds in a fantastic way. The food is exquisite! This is an adventure, it is ART on a plate and the food exceeds your expectations. We celebrated my birthday and my sister-in-laws 40th. The memories created will not be forgotten. An amazing experience and highly recommend treating yourselves to a little bit of heaven. The staff are great! - friendly and very knowledgable. The chefs come out and introduce each course so you feel a connection to the kitchen. If you want a dining experience you will never forget Jellyfish is the restaurant for you! :-)

I can highly recommend the lunch they offer on weekends. Three courses for a great price. We had such a wonderful meal here that makes us want to come back for their entire tasting menu! We both were stunned by their plating - everything just looked wonderful.

Amazingly good fish. Can be one of the best salmon I have ever eaten. The combination with gnocchi, truffle and leek, turned the dish into another level. Good pairing with a German white wine that I forgot the name of,and didn't take any picture of. The Lemon sherbet with vodka,was surprisingly refreshing,and the alcohol did not take over.

Really, really good restaurant. Quite expensive and some might even say, waaay too expensive... It is expensive and no Michelin stars here, but it is actually also quite good service. To be honest, our waiter was very slow to get "started up" but after "demanding his attention" a few times, he started to get the point and from there everything was great! The food tasted really good and seemed fresh. Even the oysters were fresh in taste and overall, great food experience!

Great atmosphere with heritage and an amazing roof. I had the steak+ fries + salad which was nice. I recommend doing a reservation as I got lucky to get a table without it. Bathroom was not accessible. Restaurant located at the centre of Hamburg.

Very nice place. Inside the restaurant is very nicely decorated. We were there for the breakfast and you can find very nice french bakery and breakfast in the menu. We had croissant sandwiches and croque monsieur. All were very delicious. The menu was very nice for the evening and dinner too. It’s a very nice stop in the city

Worth a visit for the late-19th century Art Deco interior alone (the oval ceiling medallions especially. The breakfasts are excellent, from tartare cheval to avocado on toast topped with a poached egg Quite busy on weekends, but the preternaturally calm wait staff is friendly and accommodating. My favourite cafe in Hamburg! Often go there for breakfast or lunch 🥗 simple but classic.

I go to Cafe Paris quite often for dinner because it is close to work. I usually get the steak frites since this is the go to meal in any French restaurant. The fries are amazing and so is the salad. Yesterday, however, the meat was so stringy that only a third of it was edible. For 35 Euros I would expect a better prepared cut. It was a disappointing meal in a usually wonderful restaurant.

Soups were interesting and tasty. The main dishes were not so good: eggs with Krabben were overdone; Labskaus was standard. The atmosphere and service were ok, but nothing special. And for all of this the price was too high...

This is a place, if you want to taste authentic north-german food. My wife and I ordered the Hamburg Eel Soup, "Lange Anna" and Pickled Young Herring ala Helgoland. 1. Lange Anna : Flaky texture of the fish fillets. The sauce was so smooth. The cheesy and creamy flavour profile of the sauce were perfect for cold days. The basmati rice was a superb side dish to soak up the sauce. 2. Pickled Young Herring ala Helgoland : The three different sauces were the highlights of this dish. This was an acquired taste for foreign tourists though. However, this was one of the iconic dishes of North Germany. 3. Hamburg Eel Soup : The acidic taste of the soup brightened the fishy aroma. However, the restaurant could work on taste of the eel in the future. The strong freshwater aroma, especially from the skin and fat layer of the eel pieces somewhat disturbed. Slightly bigger, more eel pieces or using smoked eels instead of the fresh one could have accentuated this dish better.

Great restaurant in a beautiful location. Crayfish soup was very interesting, different to other crayfish soups I’ve had in my life - more creamy and filling rather than bouillon style. Pannfisch was absolutely delicious, the same as Lange Anna. The portions were also filling and enough. The staff was super friendly and smiley, all in all we absolutely loved it there. :)

Great place to enjoy classic north German cuisine. Super nice and stylish setting in the cellar below the town hall. Emphasis on the traditional holstein kitchen, just like your mutter 😋 would have made it. Good beers and wines. Reasonable pricing.

We went on a Friday evening - early - and got a table for two without any problems. We had delicious cocktails to start with (there are Happy Hour specials). The server was very attentive and the service very quick. We can really recommend the schnitzel (thin and fried to perfection) and the plaice (crispy whole fish - delicious). All in all an excellent meal, though on the pricey side. If you want to have top quality and pay less, go at lunchtime. Highly recommend for lunch and dinner!

The Wiener schnitzel — a beloved dish dating back to 19th-century Vienna — was perfectly crispy and tender, just like it should be. Note that the entrance is not inside the main building; it's a door that faces the street. We had the curry sausage, which was very good but might be spicy for some. The spice is in the sprinkle and the sauce, so you can easily avoid it by mainly just eating the sausage. It comes with enough chips/fries to feed an army. It also came with an appetizer of bread.

I just went for drinks after doing a 10 km walk around the city. I didn’t have food but had a couple of drinks. The place is neat, excellent service and a little loud to the number of people dining. Location is perfect. Crowd is a little bit older. Prices are a bit on the mid to higher side.

Our dinner at Hobenköök last week came back to my mind. We really enjoyed the new implemented five course menu, the design and wordplay of the new designed menu. From first to last course it was exciting and nothing to cook simply at home. So thank you to the team in the kitchen:) As well we really liked the service and hospitality and would always come back to you:) So if you are looking for an experience, special dining and a great atmosphere: Hobenköök is for you in a very historical place! Unfortunately I just took one picture but better one as none:)

Excellent restaurant in a very interesting building. Despite the market hall feel, they do an amazing job making this cosy and intimate. Food exceptional. Waiter had a great knowledge of their wine list and was super helpful when communicating English. I would visit again without question.

A nicely designed market hall with a restaurant that offers excellent dishes, which are also visually appealing. There are seating options both indoors and outdoors. We sat near the wine corner. We were served by the market manager, who was not only extremely friendly but also gave great food and wine recommendations. It was a lovely start to an evening at the theater. We would definitely come again.

Great find in beautiful Hamburg. This is a bit off the beaten path but worth the trek. A restaurant featuring local, natural ingredients. Kind to the environment. The service was super friendly, made us feel at home. The food was delicious and abundant. The trout “chops” with salt baked potatoes and mixed sautéed seasonal vegetables was a perfect balance. The mousse, with cherry compote and crumble was an excellent finish to a very good meal. Also a great place if you’re vegan or vegetarian.

Best meal and dining experience in my two weeks in Hamburg (and I ate out every day). Vibe/ambiance was great, staff was wonderful, and food was superb. I had the octopus appetizer and the cod for my main. Absolutely delicious. But what ended up leaving a very bad taste in my mouth was receiving an email after I left, chiding me for being a no-show. Not only was I there, I was early, I checked in with a waiter and gave him my name and then got thanked for my patronage with this email accusing me of not showing up. Really irked me.

Service waa outstanding, smiling,professional and attentive servers. The entree is served to the table by one of the chefs.The lobster soup waa absolutely delicious, with chunks of lobster. To be honest I was quite disappointed with it. The food was okay, some dishes were outstanding some were okay and the dessert was a massive disappointment. We had the Wehmanns menu. The main dish was Iberico and it was incredible delicious, the dessert was some poached peach covered in Zabaoine with some colored Pistachio ice cream. I think especially in a restaurant with this reputation making a ice cream with food coloring that it looks approachable for kids like smurf ice cream is just not good enough. Also the dessert generally didn’t taste good at all. Service was nothing to complain about. Always nice and with the wine recommendations they even looked that the price was okay and we ended up paying 36 per bottle of rose. We paid 977 for 5 people with menus, almost everybody made adjustments to the menu due to dietary restrictions or taste. This was one of the best service regarding this I have ever experienced.

We had a large group for business dinner with various dietary restrictions and food preferences. The restaurant understood our quite challenging request and had a perfect menu for us all with amazing taste. Wine list was on another level. Can trust them to pair with food. We had a great time there.

The vegan menu was a complete disappointment. It failed to bring out the flavor and texture of all the ingredients. Especially the beetroot dish was canned texture and full of sauce. I'm angry that I spent four full hours trying to eat this food. The service and taste of Alleno Paris, which I went to in July last year, was great, and it was painful to sit here today. The service of the staff was distracting and far from friendly.

What a lovely night!!! Great atmosphere and delicious food. The only missing thing is that there are no vegan or vegetarian meals you have to call a few days before and let them now. Overall, great place!

1/5 Stars for Rathaus branch- Humiliating Treatment by Staff** The food quality was decent, but I’m giving one star due to an absolutely unacceptable service experience that ruined our visit. Initially, the staff member at the case who took our order was excellent - polite, helpful, and took time to explain the menu in English while offering dining options. However, when we inadvertently sat in what may have been the wrong section (which wasn’t clearly marked), another female server approached us in the most unprofessional manner imaginable. Instead of politely directing us to the correct area, she began shouting and treating us like we didn’t belong there. Her aggressive behavior was so loud and hostile that other diners stopped eating to watch this uncomfortable scene unfold. We were essentially humiliated and forced to leave the dining area, taking our food outside where we had to eat in the rain. While a male server appeared more understanding when my wife spoke to him, he remained passive and didn’t intervene to resolve the situation professionally. A simple “Excuse me, this section is reserved, but you’re welcome to sit over there” would have solved everything. Instead, we were treated with complete disrespect. No customer should ever be shouted at or humiliated, especially over what appears to have been an honest mistake about seating arrangements. Management needs to address this staff member’s behavior immediately and provide proper customer service training. The contrast between the helpful order-taker and the hostile server shows this isn’t a restaurant-wide issue, but rather one individual who shouldn’t be in a customer-facing role.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​

The food here was really delicious, fresh and perfectly prepared – truly a place that lives up to its reputation when it comes to fish dishes. However, I had a rather disappointing service experience. I kindly asked the waiter if I could switch my tea to a coffee, and his only reply was “it’s ready”. In the end, I just received a cup of hot water with a teabag, which felt very underwhelming, especially in such a well-known restaurant with such great cuisine. I really hope the management improves the service quality to match the outstanding food.

As someone from the UK, I had to face the horrible experience of seeing how they serve our traditional English fish & chips. Here it is made in the poorest way. They think that fish & chips is only to fry some fish and put them on top of fried potatoes. Also, the waitress needs to learn English good manners. Bad bad bad.

Solid simple seafood in what is practically a Hamburg stalwart. The fish soup is good and their fish is generally decent though without any additional seasoning or finesse. The prices are also alright for what’s smack in the middle of downtown Hamburg.

Fish Soup in Hamburg I only tried the fish soup — but it left a great impression! The soup was packed with a variety of seafood, not just fish, which made it much more flavourful than I expected. A squeeze of lemon juice really brought out the natural taste of the seafood. It came with a few slices of bread, and although I ordered the small size, the portion was quite satisfying. I also got a side of potato salad, which was a nice complement — simple but tasty. To be honest, the fish soup is the real highlight here. It won’t blow your mind, but it’s comforting, well-made, and worth trying if you’re nearby. That said, if you’re short on time, you’re not missing a once-in-a-lifetime experience — but you also won’t regret giving it a go.

A nice restaurant in Hamburg's Altstadt district. You can find a variety of seafood, and the food is quite fresh and delicious. Prices are a bit above average. I couldn't get my hands on the fast food, so I'm still eyeing them up. I think the fast food is more delicious. ;)

Friendly, prompt service and great crêpe. Had the classic which is cheese, ham and egg. The salads are also very good and have the pâté de campagne if you are hungry. They also have a great selection of ciders from Brittany and sell it also by the bottle. They also have a cute clothing shop by the entrance.

What can I say—this is a true classic French crêperie, and in my opinion, they serve the best crêpes in the city. The buckwheat savory crêpes are spot on, and the Brittany-style caramel crêpes are absolutely divine. I’m already back home and still thinking about those rich, luscious, caramelly crêpes. A must-visit if you love authentic French flavors!

The restaurant and outside sitting area was stunning. The food was top notch, the best salmon I have ever had. The other dishes were so delicious. The wine was also great. The desserts were lavish. Food was delicious - their foie gras is EXCELLENT as was their salmon appetizer. For dessert, I had the profiteroles. Service was good and the overall ambiance, while good, was missing that typical French flair that I happen to really like when I eat at a bistro.

Classic French bistro serving delicious French food. The service was impeccable, as efficient as friendly, not to mention generous. It has inside and outside seating. We seat inside, which came with French music greatest classics. It’s expensive, but worth it. Recommended!

A very nice dining experience if you enjoy French food. The staff is extremely good, but compared to other French restaurants in Hamburg I rate this restaurant three stars. The interior is quite French, as is the music, and the staff speak mostly French, which is very nice. Safety was okay from A C19 perspective. We had fois gras which was average, snails, also average, ox cheeks which were good, and shrimp with rice which also was good. The menu has a majority of rabbit, kidneys, and liver, so if you enjoy that type of food you may rate the restaurant higher. The wine list is unusually short for a French restaurant but sufficient for the type of dishes served.

SUPER! We were there one night in January and it was packed. We had some champagne, which is super reasonably priced and nice tasting. The three courses were great, and the prawns for the main course we're perfect. To no surprise the dessert was also great. The service in this place is brilliant, always nearby without being in your face at all times. Needless to say that we came back the following night :-)

We had such a great evening at NENI! My husband and I tried the set menu with different dishes and desserts, and everything was delicious. The fish was amazing, the hummus so creamy, and the desserts were really unique and tasty. The fresh flatbreads were also a big highlight for us. Cozy atmosphere, friendly service… we’ll definitely come back🤍✨

Food with a wow effect. We decided to try something different to fish during our trip to Hamburg and visited NENI. The restaurant is downstairs (there is a lift as well) so the entrance was almost hidden - or we were blind from all the sightseeing. It's beautifully decorated and has a welcoming warm feeling to it. Service staff was very friendly and helpful on what to choose from all the possibilities. Best to come with several friends, since this food is made for sharing. The whole experience is different if you try several dishes. Every meal has its own little different flavor world to explore. All in all defenitely worth a visit if you want to try something new. And since there are several NENI restaurants in Europe we will check out other locations as well.

Great location for a relaxed business lunch on a Friday. I had chicken schnitzel and it was delicious. The venue is very playfully decorated, personnel is polite and food arrives timely.

The food was excellent and obviously prepared by someone who loves food and fresh ingredients. The service was friendly, professional and relaxed int he best sense of the word. We sat outside on a beautiful June day, so I cannot comment on the ambience inside, but I can say that from the outside it looks like everything is done with a loving touch. I would definitely recommend and would definitely come again.

Had originally planned to eat at the potato speciality restaurant next door but it was totally empty while Deichgraf was full. Great decision as the traditional fish dish was divine. Service was very friendly, great English, and the terrace was the perfect place to sit on a summer evening…

We had a great experience at this wonderful restaurant serving tasty Hamburg specialties. We ordered a tasting portion of the Labskaus, which is a Hamburg specialty. At first glance, I thought it looked a bit like a beef tartare, so I half expected the meat to be raw. The meat was definitely cooked, and it was very tasty, so much so that we almost regretted not getting the full portion. I also had the Kutterscholle Finkenwerder Art, which is a fried fish dish that is also a Hamburg specialty. It was very unique, although I found it a bit challenging to eat with how many bones there were in the fish. I'm sure this is because I'm not very practiced at eating fish, and not a reflection of their dish. I also loved the boiled potatoes that came as a side. Boiled potatoes are a weird thing to love, but these ones were soft and warm and very well-seasoned. I was also impressed with their house salad, from the variety of veggies to the tasty dressing used. The service was warm, and the restaurant had a nice dining environment. The prices were a bit higher, but given the quality of the food and service and the elevated dining environment, I thought they were quite reasonable. The only complaint I have is I thought the 8.50 euro charge for a bottle of water was a bit pricy. Overall I'd highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for food in Hamburg!

Very good Northern Germany Restaurant if you are after more local specialties. Enjoyed the Labskaus and Matjes. Try the Shiraz from the Pfalz region. Can‘t go wrong with that one. Friendly service and the setting in an old house makes this a great experience.

This is the 2nd time coming to Haerlin, now after they were awarded their 3rd star and I enjoyed it as much as the first time. I had the "Via Coravin" wine accompaniment, something I regularly do in order to discover new wines. As we were three persons we each also ordered a different one of the optional "supplements". From beginning to end this is what to expect of a good 3 star restaurant. Service was excellent, dishes were beautifully arranged and presented, and tasted delicious. Maybe because it was at the beginning but the amouse-bouches were simply devine. The evening proceeded at a liesurely pace with none of the unacceptable rush one is finding in some 3 star places like "Chef's Table at Brooklyn Fare" with its 2 nightly seatings. As it was getting late with an elderly person, we took the petit fours home with us, hence the boxes. The whole evening was well worth it. I/we will return once the menu has changed.

Haerlin is the best restaurant I have ever tried. It far, far exceeds the quality of other three star places I have tried with fairly reasonable prices for fine dining. I especially appreciated starting with appetizers in the kitchen and getting an intimate view of the action. Only one minor quibble- sometimes, the staff was too soft spoken or unclear in English so I had to strain to understand. But I consider that my fault for not being better at German.

I love „The Grill“ in Munich and some other lovely places, however the very nice bar aside with great cocktails as a start and then perfectly grilled meat and tasty wine - with fresh and willingly service - makes this venue a very special place. Probably the best place for steak in Hamburg. Very good service, friendly stuff and attentiveness to clients. Interior is classy and at the same time cozy. Prices are quite reasonable for the quality provided. They offer a comparably short list of items in menu and all on point. They also have a drink menu and wine list on top. Starters were tasty. We had oysters and lobster. For the main we had porterhouse steak in medium rare that could be shared for two. Decided against dessert as we were too fool for that. Had one drink for aperitivo and wine for main course. Was a good evening. Generally will come back and recommend.

Came here for some steak for an anniversary, and it was great. I don't usually eat meat casually anymore, so it's important than when I do it's great quality. I found the steak was definitely very satisfying, and that the service was quite quick and good. The sides were also excellent. I found it quite warm and a bit stuffy inside on a hot summer evening, but that's a common issue in Germany.

Let me start by saying, Theos as been one of our favorite restaurants for the last 5-6 years. Over this time, we have been there over 30 times at least between work and personal meals. I wanted to share this background to set the years of experiences we have and the level of continued loyalty we have continued to have for Theos. In the last months they have continued to make what I would classify as disappointing decisions on the menu. They have reduced the number and variety of sides and taken away a few sides that were very popular and very healthy like the carrots. They changed the bread you get at the beginning of the meal and they also seem to have changed in the last year the bearnaise sauce from a nice homemade version, to what appears to be a box or carton type sauce. Tonight, we visited with a big group, we were very excited to have our group experience this historically great restaurant. For years and years, we have been able to request the hot butter plate for our steaks, we are well aware this plate is hot and helps the steak continue to cook the longer the steak sits on the plate. For me this is common sense and this has never been an issue. Today, I requested this hot butter plate and was told as of last week it was no longer offered for “non-bone” type steaks. The waiter explained this was largely a byproduct of people requesting this and then complaining their steak was overcooked. I spoke to the manger Mr. Tarhan, he explained it was not allowed anymore and abruptly shut the conversation down and walked away. I tried to explain that I would completely assume responsibility for the steak and absolutely would not ask for a return, he had not patience for this talk and simply said no and walked away. The rest of our evening , he simply avoided our table as to avoid having to discuss it further. The other issue, we had with today’s visit. We booked our table at 6pm. We arrived at 6:02pm, there were staff standing around waiting for guest in the main restaurant. The hostess, then said we had to first go into the Theo’s Bar / Lounge area and wait to be seated. I said, wow this is odd, as the restaurant is totally empty, so this made no sense to me. You go into the Bar / Lounge and you feel pressured to order drinks that you might not want. So we sat, waiting for our table. After 5-10 minutes we felt compelled to order drinks and as soon as the drinks came they said our table was ready. In the end, we waited 15+ minutes in the bar area, ordered drinks that we did not plan on ordering, to wait on a table that was 100% ready when we walked in the door. Then after coming to this restaurant and spending “Thousands” of euros over the last years, we are treated like we should be “lucky” to eat there and just be quiet. The steak was great, the sides were great, and I must give the credit for this part of the meal, however after the complete dismissal from the Manager and walk away and did not care of our request at all. I likely will not be back to Theo’s under this management team. Disappointing as this is or was, one of the better steak restaurants in Hamburg. A few years back it was hard to get a reservation, however my last 2-3 visits have been half empty. I guess I am starting to learn why.

Excellent service, very tasty avocado and meat/octopus starter, T bone steak for two served on hot plate delicious and the dessert coffee creme brulee and cheesecake with blueberry ice cream divine. Thank you for such a special meal for me and my husband!

A brilliant experience with great staff and excellent food. This is a lovely restaurant where dressing up feels appropriate and the general atmosphere is well placed. The steaks are excellent for the price point and everything is well prepared with an extra touch of class from the waiters. I recommend the T-bone steak and the deserts were all excellent. The surf and turf carpaccio was a surprise favourite for us and I encourage people to try it.

Hidden gem in Hamburg. A must see if you are interested in ships. It was a cold evening when I visited, therefore had a drink inside. However, the open deck might be very nice on a sunny day. I recommend their house beer, was quite tasteful.

Asked for a nice view and was promised a lovely anniversary evening after making a reservation. We got sent to the lower deck with confusion as to why I was there at the lower deck! Even though another table was free on the upper deck ! Unbelievable the level of discrimination and disappointment says all and I see I was not the only one there with issues concerning this. Would not recommend to others.

Won’t recommend to ethnically diverse people It was hardly a good experience however the 2 lovely waiters who take care of the seating at the lower deck is why I there are 2 starts and not 1. Made a reservation for a special occasion with a nice view and specially asked for this was told fine no problem. We get there a party of 4 and honestly have all gotten the feeling of being profiled as we were sent downstairs to sit instead of the upper deck though we specially asked for a nice view and after overlooking us a few times. Now we all saw a few tables open well on the main deck so the excuse of non being available is implausible. Being sent to the lower deck asking for an English Menü doesn’t even compare to the German one honestly biggest disappointment ever . Then the lovey young guys at the bottom ask us why aren’t we sitting upstairs funny how we had the same question. Either way they took amazing care of us and tried to make my father’s birthday as special as they could . I wont recommend it to anyone but if you do go forget the view and support the 2 lovely gentlemen who take care of the lower deck. The shrimp is amazing and the food was clearly prepared for us really with effort.

The ability to witness the chefs’ intense focus and delicate craftsmanship without any barriers felt like a rare and refreshing gift. It was the best Michelin experience I’ve had so far — truly a joyful and memorable time.

Truly deserving of its 3 Michelin star status, The Table is a gem! From the start of the evening where Kevin greets you at the door, all the way through the courses where he's keeping an eye on proceedings, you can tell that the man himself is totally obsessed with making your experience a memorable one. I highly encourage anyone who doesn't take alcohol to try the non alcoholic pairing. The fruit based drinks offered are spectacular and pair wonderfully with the food. Wow! This was an absolutely amazing experience. Another level of culinary art at this 3 star Michelin restaurant. The interior of the restaurant with a long curved table and view of the open kitchen really impressed me. The various chefs were producing master pieces in near silence, everyone knowing exactly what they had to do and when, a well orchestrated team. Then came the beautifully arranged dishes. Each with a unique and wonderful taste. The picture will tell the tale.

What an institution... Creative cooking on a level that is unreached here in Hamburg with some amazing flavors on the plate. We had a really great time here. But comparing it to other high end 3star restaurants I might say there is some room to improve. For instance it is quite common to get a little something - an amuse-bouche for the start or end that is served besides the menu you choose. Unfortunately not here. You will just get what you ordered. Which is ok, but I am spoiled from other places. So I am complaining on a high level here. Most of the dishes were great but we also had some that weren’t so memorable.

What an divine dining experience: unrivalled food quality, Understatement of interior design; the whole service extremely personal; a great team and an amazing Chief who is humble and paying attention to details! Mr. Fehling welcomed every guest at the entrance (no matter when they arrive), what a gesture! I am more than impressed. The cooking process is very clean and structured. Love the concept! Love the food! Love the people! "The Table" rocks!

Modern Northern European experience, it might be seen as cold, but it’s exactly the type of experience I was expecting, this is not a southern Italian trattoria. Seated on bar stools facing the open kitchen the meal at The Table goes smoothly, and it’s a journey throughout the whole world, with ingredients and preparation that variates differently. The Nordic touch is present also in the food, many plates are served cold and one plate is dedicated at the north see. The wine pairing was ideal, mostly white wines and light bodied giving a nice contrast with meal. Overall a satisfying experience!

The food wonderland is accompanied by a selection of the finest wines from all around the world. We have waited for almost a year to receive a spot at the restaurant, but it was well worth the wait. Great place for lunch with a focused selection of locally inspired dishes as well international staples. The friendly staff provides fantastic service. At the same time, the atmosphere here is quite uniquely Hamburg - Lots of regulars means lots of old money getting together for mingling.

Food is great quality, but a bit on the small side for the price. Service was great, had several friendly staff attend to us. The atmosphere is a typical hotel restaurant style with a slight French café flair, appeals to a more established audience, I'd say, and I'm not sure how welcome kids would be. It's the most affordable spot that we've found in town if you want a taste of lobster (1/2 of one for 27€, sides 4€ each extra). Had a nice wine with the meal.

Is a good restaurant overall. It would get five stars if the prices weren’t so high. The servings, especially for the salads were quite small, but the fish and beef and lobster are worth getting. I had the cassoulet and it was just too small. Service however, was impeccable.

This is a wonderful spot for some wonderful seafood served exquisitely with style and panache. A clear upscale atmosphere with grace peppered in every aspect of the restaurant while maintaining an understated elegance at the same time. The food, from the warm breads served up, to the soup, to the main course, came perfectly prepared and piping hot (a rare treat these days indicating freshness). The service throughout the meal was superb, helpful and knowledgeable. The big attraction is the seafood though the menu offers other choices to suit anyone. Came here for a date with my partner while visiting Hamburg. We took the fairy from the city and it was a short walk directly from there. Absolutely worth the little trip out, the quality and taste of the food was amazing. We both felt that a comparable restaurant in city center would have cost 2 to 3 times more. It was lovely, the food was extremely delicious. The "Pulpo" as an Appetizer was great and the Loup de Mer was so good!!! The desserts are very good too. The young man who served us was joyful and kind. Great place for the seafood and fish lovers! Price value worth taking Menu option as you get a lot of variety for the money (4 course menu for 79 Euro per person). Drinks are on a higher end but portions are generous. What is really pricy compared to the other restaurants of the same league are oysters - 5 Euro for 1 oyster, so personally would not take it again. Overall great experience, stylish place and friendly staff.

My wife and I had a great experience at XO. We sat at the counter, which I would recommend if you like to watch and interact with the kitchen staff preparing the food, and we ordered the fixed price, four course chef's menu. It was really great. The food was tasty, and it was fun talking to the kitchen crew. Gabi took care of us from behind the counter, and she, along with the rest of her colleagues, did a great job. We especially liked that they would take the time to answer any questions we had about the food. They were very nice and talented. Our favorite food items were the razor clam appetizer, the main, which was perfectly cooked char, and the dessert, a tarte tartin with french plums. Highly recommend. Great experience.

Bad atmosphere, hot, dark, messy. Make sure you sit outside with cigarettes smell, much better than inside, don’t risk. Pasta is nasty, smell like coming from 6 months+ dry package, no where close to fresh (per manager’s claim) and instead of accepting client’s comment nicely, the male manager intentionally ignored us afterwards, we got to ask 2 times to refill the wine, nothing happened. Once we stood up to take the bottle ourselves, the manager made fun and stupid faces, attitudes. If you’re looking for good mussels, fish… maybe, if you are looking for good pasta and services, think twice or more.

Worst and most expensive pasta menu in the city, pasta smell old and very bland taste for 30+ euro. Overrated price and boring wine list. Trainee staff was serving us and had to go back to the unprofessional manager every time. The manager was rude and making the face back to us after we commented about pasta quality. At least the mussel was nice… otherwise this would be our worst night in Hamburg.

The mekka for the best of basically everything of food and drinks. Such an amazing assortment of very unique delicacies! You can find lots of fresh food here, meat and fish as well preserved food such as jams and cheese. We came on a Friday and they were cooking several meat dishes which you could try on the spot. The quality of the meat is from top level. Prices are a bit more expensive, though not too expensive and price quality wise way better than your local supermarket. Check it out!!

Beautiful selection of gourmet products. This place has interesting specialty produce, a wonderful fresh fish/seafood counter, good alcohol selection and huge walk in fridge with meat/dairy from all over Europe. The small bistro at the back has a nice but small selection of seafood dishes. I had a fish soup which was delicious with a glass of Pflaz riesling. The service was very friendly and espresso was also very good. My only complaint is the price, be ready to empty your pockets when you come here.

I'm really puzzled by the bad reviews and Hollywood movie level drama that some of these reviewers talk about. We arrived way before check in time, pleasantly asked if there was any way we could check in if a room was available, and guess what, we were allowed to check in earlier. No argument, no eye rolls from the staff at the check-in counter and no drama. Any request we had, from firmer pillows to borrowing an umbrella, was fulfilled with a smile. Hotel isn't brand new, obviously, so some of the traffic areas of the rooms and hallways may seem tired, but at no time did I feel like I wasn't getting my money's worth, or that the state of the room was so bad, I would feel compelled to leave a scathing review about my experience. This is a good hotel, with some eclectic decor, a friendly staff and a good restaurant. Bed was comfortable, no one barged in my room when it wasn't expected and my room was clean. I'd come back no problem. Sometimes being a nice person goes along way.

This hotel has nothing to do with Marriott Bonvoy standards. The staff are not friendly and lack the customer service experience and knowledge. The room is too dark , bathroom shower area is not well designed at all . The other rooms empty plates and bottles were left in the corridor of our floor for over 14 hrs , no one bother to clean it up next day . The toilets on the ground floor were too dirty at 11 am , obviously it was not clean after previous night partying. When we gave our feedback to the receptionist, obviously she has no experience nor the audacity to deal with the situation . It was a bad choice for sure . Breakfast was good and staff was ok .

Very nice hotel, about 15-20 minutes walk from the central train station and the old town. Design is nice and artsy and there is a nice library room on the ground level as well as a spa with a sauna on the 6th floor. Rooms are small but comfortable.
