Le Petit Commerce is a charming bistro located in the historic St-Pierre quarter of Bordeaux. The restaurant offers a cozy atmosphere with outdoor seating and dining rooms on both sides of a narrow pedestrian street. Renowned for its excellent seafood menu, the restaurant serves dishes such as oysters, langoustines, and grilled fish sourced from the waters of St Jean de Luz. Former Michelin-starred chef Stephane Carrade leads the culinary team, ensuring that every dish is inspired and flavorful.
Quaint small local restaurant with fantastic fresh seafood. Get the variety of shellfish plates in addition to their awesome oysters. Service was friendly and great values in wine. A place to return many times.

Traditional French “pecherie” with a modern twist- let’s say the only one restaurant we visited twice in 9 days in Bordeaux (even considering ten extra minutes walk) Erwin was our waiter each time and his recommendations were spot on! Gazpacho and the escargots were the best we got in SW France including some Michelin stars we visited ( for a fraction of the price). Highly recommended!
Sorin B — Google review
For a seafood restaurant, the dishes tasted a bit average and not as fresh as I expected. The razor clams were cooked well, though the flavor itself wasn’t that impressive. The atmosphere could be improved too—there was quite a strong kitchen smell, and while we were eating, flies were constantly buzzing around and landing on our seafood. We had to keep shooing them away, which made the hygiene standards feel questionable and the meal rather unpleasant. On the bright side, the desserts were a pleasant surprise—the crème brûlée and ice cream were both really nice. Service was fine, nothing outstanding but perfectly okay.
Lily Z — Google review
I had an excellent meal here with fresh and flavorful oysters followed by well seasoned and perfectly cooked monkfish. It’s in a touristy part of town, so there were fewer locals than I like to see. But, other than that, c’est bon! [PS. Regarding the flies, almost every restaurant I’ve gone to in France for the last 3+ weeks has had fruit flies. We’re not used to it in the US, but it’s common here.]

We visited this place 3 times! Best one in Bordeaux. Oysters and crab are incredible! If you want to eat fresh delicious seafood - go here right away.

Variety and quality of Sea food was very good. Quantity with respect to price is still a question mark for me. Sitting environment could be more improve. Staff was very polite and friendly.
Shahrukh K — Google review
Happy hour oysters (€1) between 4-6pm. The oysters were fresh and delicious, the recommended wine was great, thank you! Great street for people waking, away from the square.
Wing C — Google review
In my opinion, a good chef can prepare good vegetables, even one specialized in fish. I do not eat fish, but my friend does, so we went to this restaurant. She assured me the fish was excellent, so no remarks on that. I however, ordered the only vegetarian main dish, which was room temperature gazpacho and a piece of toast. This cost me €20, even though it was tragically the same dish as the €12 gazpacho entrée. Honestly, I'd really like my €8 back so I can spend it some carrot sticks and hummus from Carrefour, because I would rather eat that than go to this restaurant again. My wallet and my digestion are crying.

French restaurant
La Tupina is a rustic-chic restaurant in Bordeaux that offers refined Southwestern comfort food. The bistro, opened 40 years ago by Jean-Pierre Xiradakis, prides itself on using locally sourced produce from the best local producers and cooking dishes that suit the season. The restaurant's menu features unique dishes such as sanguette for lunch and lamproie a la Bordelaise for dinner, providing an authentic taste of the region.
We had dinner here during our visit to Bordeaux. My research online for an authentic Bordeaux/ south-west cuisine pointed me to this restaurant promptly made a reservation before our trip. Upon arrival at restaurant, we were promptly seated by the window for table for two. At the entrance, we walked past a window displaying all the nice cuts of steak which we couldn’t wait to sample. Our server was really professional and warm. He spoke perfect English but was also happy to communicate in our basic but functional French, an experience and gesture we really appreciated. We ordered the foie gras and our mind was already set of the côte de bœuf. The foie gras was a generous portion but the highlight was really the steak. It was a huge portion (like a florentina steak) and easily fed the two of us who aren’t small eaters. We really enjoyed dining here, both the food and service were impeccable. I did notice that most patrons were foreigners like us, but that could be due to the timing as my impression is the locals dine out a lot later us foreign visitors. The côte de bœuf was one of the best dishes we had for our 3-week trip in France, and we still remembered it fondly.
James W — Google review
Really nice typical french cuisine restaurant. Service was a little slow and not very attentive but the food was great. The beef was very good and the chicken as well. It is an expensive place since dishes range 28-32 on average.
Veronica B — Google review
Fire, Flesh and a Double Magnum of Glory La Tupina doesn’t do delicate. It does fire, fat, and food that grabs you by the collar and demands your respect. Tucked into a 17th-century stone building in Bordeaux, it greets you with a roaring hearth and the scent of duck fat and scorched beef. This is not a place for restraint. This is a place for worship. We began with cold duck foie gras, rich and arrogant, as it should be. Then came the côte de bœuf, grilled in the flames, thick enough to qualify as architecture. The duck-fat fries were crisp and golden, as essential as oxygen. Green beans made a token appearance. No one touched them. And then there was the wine. A double magnum Margaux. Yes, you read that correctly. Velvet in a glass. Deep, dark, commanding. We drank like Roman emperors and did not apologise. Dessert was a gateau Basque, warm custard spilling across the plate. An Armagnac arrived, because of course it did. The service was brisk and beautifully indifferent. No one coddles you here. They feed you like royalty and expect you to keep up. La Tupina is a temple of tradition. A cathedral of smoke and meat and glorious excess. You don’t dine here. You surrender.
Ulrik J — Google review
The location is great — you can sit on the terrace by the street and enjoy an authentic French experience with a lovely view. Service could be improved for a restaurant of this level. The staff spoke average English, which was enough to communicate since we don’t speak French, but more attention would help. For example, our waitress brought lemonade instead of butter, and it ended up on the bill (though she apologized and it was eventually removed). Food was mixed: • I had the duck carpaccio, which was delicious 👌 • My husband had the duck breast, but it was nothing special. • The kids’ menu (meat and fries) was a good option. • Bread and butter were excellent. A few downsides: the English menu online is outdated, with restaurant prices in French menu about €6–7 higher. Also, the dessert options weren’t very appealing — not much variety or local specialties, so we skipped them. Overall, a nice place for the atmosphere and some dishes, but with room for improvement in service, pricing transparency, and dessert selection.
Cecilia B — Google review
The welcome was very warm & I was given complimentary house rillette etc w/ bread... It just melts in your mouth. The escargot was not my favorite. The sauce was a bit muddy, the bone marrow fat had been emulsified & pureed with the shallots & wine. There wasn't much distinction, but it grew on me. The duck was pretty good with the creamy mushroom sauce but the foie seemed slightly low quality/butchered & the breast was cooked too quickly, leaving little skin present. The fries were honestly the highlight. Delicate crispy, not greasy, soft on the inside. I would go back for those & the free rillette. All the wine I had was also excellent. Thanks to my server, I had an appropriate glass for every dish that evening. Merci!
Monica H — Google review
Got seated quickly but it must have been a busy evening, it took a while to get greeted by the server, which by the way was super kind! Other than that the roasted chicken I ordered and the crème brûlée was super delicious and the presentation was great!
Gaby P — Google review
Came here because our friend is a fan of Rick Stein, and this open-fire dinning restaurant has been recommended in one of his programmes. The food was fantastic, cooked in kind of primordial cooking style. The service was brilliant, the staff were friendly and chatting with customers, they answered every question we had for their dishes, feeling so nice to be in relaxed, friendly atmosphere! It’s really something we did not expect we would experience in this city Bordeaux, and it’s definitely worth to visiting.

French restaurant
Le Bouchon Bordelais is a cozy bistro located in the heart of Bordeaux, offering a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Chef Frederic Vigouroux's popular restaurant features rich, meat-oriented regional dishes paired with Bordeaux wines. The menu is market-driven and changes seasonally to showcase the best local products. Diners can enjoy a variety of dishes, from chilled pea-and-watercress soup to lamb bayaldi with pecorino.
Both the front and the back of the house were at the top of their game when I visited as a solo diner on a Friday night. I opted for a 6 course dinner with wine pairings. A memorable experience!
Stan D — Google review
Came here on a Tuesday evening after making a reservation online for 8:15. They aptly call it a cozy restaurant because the tables were already 75% full in spite of opening at 8pm and new arrivals had to squeeze in sideways to get to their seat. The tables nearby had many couples, 1 singleton, groups of friends, even a dog (first time seeing this while in Bordeaux). The service is 100%+ positivity and energy and joy. Their excitement and authentic desire to make your evening special is palpable. I was impressed at their speed of speech in both French and English. They offer a 4 or 6-dish set. We chose the 4. The entrees were okay. The plat and dessert were divine. The restaurant feels like a happening place to be. It is definitely fun to sit near the wall and people watch. Thank you for a fun night!

This was a wonderful dining experience. Everything from the atmosphere to the food and the service was fantastic. Every single dish was delicious and unique. The wine pairings were perfect. Both of our servers were friendly, helpful and knowledgeable about the food and wine. I wish we had gone here earlier during our trip so that we could have eaten here twice.

Highly recommended! The set menu makes dining here super easy, no stress about what to order. Every dish is packed with amazing, complex flavors that will have you reaching for extra bread to soak it all up. YUMMY! 🤤

Delicious food and wine served up by lovely and knowledgeable servers. Trust the chefs, they know what they are doing. Absolutely delightful in every way.
Ronilo L — Google review
Not to be missed. The 4 or 6 prix fixe dinner is super. We opted to not have the wine pairing but rather fewer glasses of wine recommended by the wait staff. It is Bordeaux, there is no bad wine.
James B — Google review
We wanted to go for some really good French food. This is the spot. The service, atmosphere, and food were all marvelous. And the staff are top notch. They understand all of the dishes and wine, where they come from, and how they work together. Treat yourself and have dinner here.

Seafood restaurant
La Cabane Cent Un - Restaurant d'huîtres is a seafood haven in the heart of Bordeaux, where the celebration of fresh oysters and seafood takes center stage. The refined wine and champagne selection complements the impeccable service, with special praise for the hospitality of Pierre and Max. Visitors rave about the delightful homemade fries and describe their overall experience as unforgettable. Whether seeking a taste of Bordeaux's dining scene or looking for an exceptional oyster experience, this restaurant is a must-visit.
Extremely fresh seafood at a very reasonable price. The service was quite slow but still friendly. We had to check the bill twice because it was much cheaper than expected, but everything was calculated correctly. If you live in a country where fresh seafood is expensive, come here and treat yourself!
Moon C — Google review
The staff were incredible. We booked in advance inside but due to roadworks were seated outside. Not a problem. The seafood was incredibly fresh, salads amazing. Sweet potato chips a little over cooked. Swordfish was some of the best I’ve ever tasted. My wife had the seafood platter and was not disappointed. We used the contact us form to request a birthday cake but that did not make it to their mailbox, however they improvised on the night with a candle in an ice cream which did the trick. Alcohol free cocktails were great. Overall a wonderful team who coped with our broken French and spoke great English. The vibe inside is nice, the chef has a great choice of music!
William L — Google review
In the heart of Bordeaux lies a seafood sanctuary! Here, oysters 🦪 and seafood 🍤 are not merely served but celebrated, their freshness whisking you to the sea with every bite. The wine 🍷 and champagne 🥂 selection is as refined as the service, with special accolades for Pierre and Max's unparalleled hospitality. The homemade fries 🍟 are a delight, and the overall experience is unforgettable. A must-visit for anyone seeking the quintessence of Bordeaux's dining scene. I'll certainly recommend to drop by this exceptional spot. The prices are fair.

The service at this restaurant was terrible — they didn’t give us any cutlery the whole time, and the oysters weren’t fresh at all. Do not come here!

Best oysters in Bordeaux. Chorizo croquettes are unbelievably good and the truffle croque monsieur yum yum yum. Also their French gin is strong.

(Translated by Google) The disaster! The waiter and the boss have stupid faces... The food is expensive and not good. However, we took the suggestions of the day. The monkfish was as hard as thawed and the jackfruits were drowned under a ton of sauced tagliatelle. In short, avoid this place unless you are not hungry. In addition, the service is barely friendly. (Original) La cata! Le serveur et le patron ont des têtes de déterrés... La bouffe cher et pas bon. On a pris les suggestions du jour pourtant. Le Noailles, located in Bordeaux, is a traditional French bistro-style restaurant that offers a delightful dining experience. Despite a mix-up with the reservation, the gracious staff accommodated the guests and provided exceptional service. The menu features local and fresh ingredients, with recommended dishes including meat and homemade French fries. The friendly and jolly staff contribute to the lively atmosphere of the restaurant. Visitors praise the outstanding service from individuals like Jamal and Loic who made excellent recommendations for both food and wine.
We were recommended to have lunch here by our hotel and it did not disappoint! An electric atmosphere and the waiters are friendly and fun. We shared the Escargot starter with bread and butter, we wish we ordered two. Then confit de canard and Margret canard for mains - with plenty of salad and vegetables. All delicious and it felt very authentic too. Margret Canard was definitely the highlight! Thank you Le Noailles for a lovely lunch.

A fabulous restaurant with a great buzz. Food was excellent. The waiter was a bit haphazard, as he missed off some of our order. Anyhow, it was soon rectified. There were 5 of us having lunch.
Suzanne P — Google review
It is centrally located, the food was good, but nothing extraordinary for which I would come back again. The staff was really friendly. There are in my opinion too many tables, it is difficult to have a conversation without hearing what the next table is saying.
Luca — Google review
We arrived at the Brasserie and had no reservation previously made. We were brought to a table next to the door on the terrace. We asked if there might be another table but they said they were booked. Later on I went to the toilet and noticed that there were several empty tables inside. And we stayed for almost 2.30 hours. No problem, we decided to enjoy ourselves as it was our last night in Bordeaux after being there for 11 nights. I order the crab tartare. I must say that I was disappointed as it was more avocado than crab. The escargots were delicious. Our main course was both very good. We had the entrecôte and the seafood platter. We also had a creme brûlée which I expected the top glass to be warm but it was very cold. What bothered me at this brasserie were the waiters. They were extremely snobbish to say the least. We had to signal them twice for attention and other guests at a table further down had the same experience. Nevertheless we had a great time as we were not going to have this small nuisance spoil our night. We have travelled extensively and had dinners at the most exclusive brasserie and restaurant and when your menu is a bit pricey, you expect good service.
Geraldine B — Google review
The food was very good and the service was quick. We had a table outside and it was quiet, yet in the street which made the experience very good. The wine selection was sufficient and we had three courses of with the main standing out as the best. I would recommend this place to experience a bistro with a classic touch.

We visited twice during our week in Bordeaux. On Monday, the service and food were exceptionally good. We both had steaks, fries and sauce (from the daily specials) followed by pear tart. It was all delicious. We rebooked for Saturday night. The food and service were OK except for the fries / chips. They were disgusting ... maybe reheated from lunch service 🫣Reservations are necessary. The restaurant was full from 7pm on Saturday night and also very busy on Monday night. Expensive. 7€50 for a bottle of still water !

Nestled in the vibrant Chartrons district of Bordeaux, Chez Dupont is a delightful bistro that exudes charm with its rustic stone walls and retro posters. This inviting eatery has been a beloved spot since 1988, run by the same dedicated couple who have created a warm atmosphere perfect for enjoying classic French cuisine paired with an impressive wine selection. With its sunny terrace open year-round, it’s no wonder this restaurant was once the go-to canteen for antique dealers in the area.
Culinary Nirvana! We were a group of eight and sat outside and were treated to an amazing meal. The service was spot on, menu choices and wine list were exciting. This is definitely a five star French restaurant experience. Highlights were definitely the steak and their extraordinary profiterole dessert (not to be missed!)

Unfortunately our experience did not match the reviews. We arrived near the start of service and were hostilely offered a table inside (we assume the terrace was booked). The entrees (burrata and scallops) were pretty good, but the mains were both underwhelming and arrived over 30min after we finished the entrees. The pork ribs were salty and dry and the steak was under seasoned, literally no trace of salt. The frites were also sub par, they seemed like they’d been fried multiple times and yet were somehow soggy. The servers were working hard but the service still fell short. We waited too long to order and had to ask several times for water. It seems like an institution but unfortunately we left feeling scammed. Maybe we were there on a bad day or maybe the summer season isn’t a good time to go. We’ve eaten at many other places in the area and nearer the city center that were better, maybe look elsewhere for an enjoyable meal.

I was so excited for this meal and read great great things!! Showed up and menu was limited, I read they were known for their Sole fish dish & the only fish option was cod. BIG problem - I came for the sole fish!! Staff was friendly. It lacked knowledge of menu and couldn’t pair wine with food selection or help. The worst part was when I was waiting a while for a dessert menu, a man stepped outside to smoke and had no issues blowing it onto the patio. So gross - staff didnt care and didn’t seem interested in serving (dessert) or helping me out. I asked for my bill and left. Huge let down!! Don’t trust what blogs, sites and reviews say about this place — the staff is cheery, just not insynce with the ambiance. I wouldn’t come here again - not worthwhile and ruined my first full day.

A must-visit café! The menu is diverse and based on fresh local ingredients. Everything was super tasty, beautifully presented, and the service was excellent. We truly enjoyed the experience and will definitely come back!

A delightful traditional french restaurant. The menu was full of interesting dishes, quite meat and fish-heavy, but there were also tapas dishes and a decent selection of desserts. The venue itself looks traditional, and is well kept and there is a nice terrace outside. The staff was also lovely, and my food was served quickly. Not super cheap, but I thought it was worth it. La picana of veal was amazing.

Had lunch here, it was ok. A bit too pricey. Fish too salty for my taste. This restaurant was recommended by a tour guide but it’s a bit overrated in my opinion. I would rate this average to good..

Racines is a restaurant located slightly outside the historic center of Bordeaux, opposite a large glass-fronted building. The establishment has an elegant and business-like ambiance, making it suitable for a formal lunch. It is known for its collaboration with Chef Tanguy Laviale from the renowned Garopapilles, bringing in an impressive wine selection. The self-taught Scottish chef Daniel Gallacher offers inventive dishes on a weekly-changing menu, providing top-end value for money.
We had an amazing experience at Racines. We opted for the full 6-course tasting menu with wine pairings, and everything was absolutely spot on. Each dish was beautifully presented and perfectly balanced, with the wine selections complementing every course. The service was warm and attentive without being over the top. One of the highlights of our trip to Bordeaux. Highly recommend!

We had a lovely dinner in Racine’s on Tuesday evening, it was the best meal we had in Bordeaux. The food was super tasty and really good value. The flexibility on the menu was great, where each person can decide to have 4,5 or 6 dish’s, everyone on the table does not have to do the same which was great. The accompanying wine, as you’d expect, was beautiful. Highlights for us was the cod and the veal in particular. We will definitely be back when we’re next in Bordeaux.

The cuisine may not be particularly innovative, but every dish is perfectly cooked and truly delicious. The service team is outstanding – friendly, attentive, and highly professional.

What a place! My first experience of fine dining and was blown away. We couldn’t get in on the night, so went for lunch instead. Incredible value (€30pp) and we added the wine pairings (€30pp). Everything was five star. Nice and intimate setting (about 7/8 tables), attentive service, incredible food!

Beautiful fresh flavours. We had the 4 plates in the evening for €44 and it was a great experience. The highlights were the tomato dish that packed a zesty punch and the artichoke dish that had a lot of richness. Lovely setting and great service

Interesting menu & AC , excellent service but be warned the dishes are micro- more the size for a 8 course menu, I went for lunch. - eggplant i adored-marcona almonds, just slightly sweet, miso & black garlic adds umami sauce yum, peach adds lots acidity , sisho leaf is everything in this dish, add lots of flavor -sea bream seaweed, green beans, lobster sauce- lime zest gelee a bit bitter not noticeable with other richness but adds tiny bit of acid. The sauce was very lobstery & then pure creamy, vanilla adds a little something but not physically thick enough to keep pickled mustard seeds from getting lost. And i would've liked more acid or spice would've been nice. I had to remove skin since I personally don't enjoy it if it isn't crispy though the blowtorch made it pretty. - fig sub apricot in the dessert, weird bitter olive sauce but with everything else added complexity, fig nice warm melts like a hot Sundae. Would've liked more slightly less done croutons, maybe more rosemary flavor. Would go back to see what else they come up with.

Perfect in every way. Thankyou. Food was amazing. Wine pairings were brilliantly matched. Friendly, attentive service and very well paced. Great to see the chef at work. And we thought a clever design of the kitchen/ restaurant that he could also see us enjoy his creations. A really pleasurable evening.

L'Embarcadère is a renowned bistro in Bordeaux, known for its Atlantic seafood and elegant ambiance. The restaurant features brass fittings, wooden floors, and comfortable leather furniture, creating a charming and inviting atmosphere. Guests have praised the attentive and friendly service, with quick seating and courteous staff.
Visited a few days ago. Dropped in for lunch without a reservation and it worked out fine as there was no wait. We ordered a crab, the duck l’orange and a dessert for after. We thought that the food was great and fairly priced. The interior of the restaurant is good looking and the staff were all nice and attentive. The restaurant website is very considerate— they provide thorough instructions as to how to get to the establishment. Would recommend.

As you think, you can find good oysters in France, definitely not in this restaurant, and that’s why it only has a 4.2 rating on average. We ate a lot of oysters on our trip to France; probably is the worst restaurant we ever had on our trip. First of all, you can look at the oyster in the picture; that white sticky thing in the middle is quite disgusting, and for some of the oysters, you can see the colour even changed darker. I am pretty sure it is not fresh, and maybe it has already opened quite a while, and when I was eating it, the taste was quite weird. Hopefully, we won’t get food poisoning afterward. When we told the staff in the restaurant that it wasn’t fresh, they said to us that because of the long route, I think they could do a better option to ensure the oyster quality rather than using this excuse to explain to us. Second, we ordered the mussels as well, and it was a bit overcooked; like in the picture shown, the colour changed darker and very dry; you can see the difference between the normal one next to it and the dry one, the normal is juicy, and the colour of the mussel is in white. Still, unfortunately, only a few of the mussels in the bowl are like this, and most of the mussels are dry in the bowl, which is unacceptable. And some of it even has grass stuck inside the mussels; it is pretty awful! I strongly recommend you don’t go to this restaurant, if you want to have a healthy life. It definitely is a tourist trap!
W L — Google review
L'Embarcadère in Bordeaux was a disappointment, particularly for a region known for its seafood. The oysters I received were, without a doubt, the worst I’ve ever had. They were tasteless and clearly stored far too long in what must have been an overly cold fridge. When I pointed out that three of the oysters appeared dead, the waiter brought two replacements that were just as questionable. His response? "You could have told me before; we wouldn’t have opened them." Seriously? How could I possibly know in advance that these new oysters wouldn’t be fresh? 🤔 Well, I should have been smarter. It’s clear I’m not the first to experience this issue—I wish I had read the reviews beforehand. If you value fresh seafood, look elsewhere.
Alexis H — Google review
Lovely seafood plateaus! However, you should know some of the seafood seems to be raw or very lightly cooked. The other entrees were also very good, so don’t feel you can only have seafood here. The desserts were also very good. The atmosphere is very nice and friendly with kind waiters.
Isabel B — Google review
I made a reservation for my dinner here. I was attracted by the reviews and I’m yearning for seafood since I’m in Bordeaux. Overall experience was ok, a little wait time is expected since they are so popular. I waited about 35min. The seafoods are indeed very fresh, and they are very tasty. I have a feedback on the COD Steak, it’s overly seasoned, too salty. The rest is perfect.
Henry N — Google review
Heard this was one of the better seafood places in Bordeaux. We had a reservation for 2 right when it opened, no troubles getting this reservation. We started off getting a 50 cl jug of red wine. Then my girlfriend ordered from the Set Menu, she got the 6 oysters with cream and leek sauce. For the main course she got duck confit. I ordered the mussels with cream. When it came to my mussels, they were delicious and they had to be like 50-100 mussels, they were small but man the quantity was endless. The only bad thing is the mussels bucket took quite a while to come out. The oysters was ok, I think I would have liked them plain. The duck confit was a bit dried out and it appears it was sitting out a bit while the mussels were getting prepared. Overall nice service and employees.
Josh B — Google review
Would definitely recommend this place to any seafood lovers. The food is presented extravagantly, and the staff are friendly. The Duck Confit was superb, and the mixed fish meal was tasty, but a lot the shells were empty. Altogether, it's a cool place to eat.
Ella D — Google review
Best. Oyster. In. Europe. Get the set menu for just under €30 (28.50 I think?). You get six of these lush Cap Ferret oysters (or any other starter, but these are bangers) and Duck Confit (also, other choices, but get this amazing generous portion). Highly recommend a local dry white with the oysters, but ask the staff for wine recommendations. I had a great lunch here on a very hot day - can’t recommend enough!

L'Estacade is a renowned riverside bistro located on the Bastide side of Bordeaux, offering set lunch and dinner menus featuring delectable dishes such as scallops and octopus paired with Bordeaux wines. The restaurant provides a picturesque dining experience by the Garonne, allowing guests to enjoy cool water breezes while savoring regional oysters and crisp AOC Entre-Deux-Mers.
L’Estacade in Bordeaux is an excellent spot for an aperitif or a sunset dinner date. I was truly blown away by the meal. The fresh veggie carpaccio was light, crisp, and refreshing—everything you want from a summer salad. The scallops were cooked to perfection, served alongside a generous portion of pearled couscous with pesto and guanciale that was both flavorful and filling. The service was pleasant, adding to the overall experience. Plus, no reservation is required, making it a convenient and delightful choice for a memorable evening.

Gorgeous, relaxed setting and ensure to book on a lovely sunny evening (especially weekends) if you plan to watch the sun go down from their terrace. It's stunning. Loved taking the boat over directly opposite from la place de la Bourse - so allow enough time to get there if you do. Good wine list which bumped up our price as we went for a bottle of Chateau Brown (excellent) to go with our fish annd seafood dishes - Tataki de Thon good, as was the prawn tempura but cassolette d'encornets lacked garlic. Good desserts including sablé breton with pistachio mousse and raspberries.

The food was great, the view was amazing, but the service was not so great, they could not accommodate a gluten allergy very well, they kept on making mistakes and putting gluten in food that had to be gluten free. If you come here with an allergy, make sure you are very careful and check everything. Overall a great experience, just be super careful if you have any allergies.

If you’re staying in Bordeaux it would be easy to miss this place because it’s across the river from the main city….but you do not want to miss this place. Beautiful food, great service and a gorgeous view of the city. We were the only non-French speaking clients and they treated us so wonderfully. The vegetable carpaccio was super fresh and we had the shrimp tempura and the scallops on pasta beads - both delicious — and the pasta bowl was so clean when I was done they probably didn’t even have to wash it! The wine list was great - not super extensive but all the right kinds of choices. It was our last night after 10 days and we are so glad we dined here. A must next time we are in Bordeaux!

Good presentation but food was tasteless and not worth coming here for dinner. This place has wifi but the owner would not give us the password. The staffs are reluctantly said they dont know the password. I’d showed them that there’re wifi here on my screen but they are not kind enough to let us have the password. What type of a place is this ? Seems like the only restaurant with deck overlooking the river. Nice view but will be very disappointed with the tasteless dishes.

I have been to this restaurant twice on my 2 visits to Bordeaux. It is one of the best meals I have had there. I went in for lunch without a reservation. The manager gave me a good seat with a nice view of the river. The waitress was very friendly and helpful. It was a very hot day. The starter of watermelon and tomato gazpacho hit a spot. The steak was cooked to perfection. The crispy apple tart was a good end to the meal. This is a place I fully recommend.

This is the second time I went there for dinner and I was not disappointed. The different menus offer reasonable priced choices and there is always the option to order "A la Cárte". I especially liked how the food tasted and was assembled. Our waitress Jade was very kind and attentive. Although she spoke excellent English the French charm came through.

Had dinner here and enjoyed our meal. The staff were friendly and attentive. My squid and octopus, cooked with a garlic butter, was extremely tender. My husband's duck confit was a bit smaller than others he's had but he said it was cooked the best. The meringue dessert was delicious.

I went by myself as my son wanted to stay in hotel for video games. A young lady who speaks good English helped me. I chose the express menu. The duck breast was nicely done. Good quality, quick, great service and very reasonable price too. Three courses with a glass of wine was a bit over 30 euros.
Angela L — Google review
We were initially very excited to come here. We were sat down very swiftly by a kind waitress who welcomed and spoke to us in english. We were served tap water and given a normal amount of time to decide what we wanted to order. I chose to have the 2 course gourmet menu, choosing a foie gras with salad starter and a steak with red wine sauce for mains. my girlfriend decided to order the smoked salmon salad for start, the chicken in lemon sauce for main and the crème brûlée for pudding. Upon ordering our food we were prompted before ordering, during ordering, and after ordering to also order some wine with our food despite us saying not wanting to have any wine with the meal many times. the foie gras was interesting and exciting. it came with salad small slices of sweet bread and a dried fig with some red savoury jam and some salt to cleanse the palette. i was impressed and felt like i was experiencing french fine dining. the salmon salad was tasty, and there was a decent amount of salmon. it came with sliced smoked salmon, salad, and bread. i like to have my steak medium rare, and upon being asked how i would like it i requested as such. the waitress then informed me that it would have to be either rare or medium since the chefs in the kitchen didn’t do it like that. she said that if it’s too underdone she can always take it back to the kitchen to have it cooked for longer. i requested medium and then changed my mind to rare. when it came, i attempted to cut into the meat but was surprised since the knife was almost completely blunted, making it hard to cut into the steak. i asked for another knife and it was slightly better, but only slightly. when i cut into the steak i did unfortunately find it to be far too underdone for my liking. despite the sauce being lovely i needed to send my steak back to have it be cooked more so i could enjoy it. it came back in only a few minutes and it had been made to medium. unfortunately the steak was bland and very chewy. a portion of the fat was cold and solid. i don’t know much about cooking, but i feel with a bit of salt, pepper, butter, thyme and garlic i could make a far better steak than what i paid 20 odd euros for, using meat from the supermarket. nevertheless i ate it all except some of the fat, and had the rest of the sauce and salad with chips. The chicken was good, my girlfriend also struggled to cut into it with the knives provided. The lemon sauce was good but too much of it, which made it overpowering- it would’ve been nicer with less sauce, since the chicken itself was very tasty. However, there were a couple of pink bits in the middle of the chicken; it didn’t make my girlfriend sick, so maybe this is how they cook here. very tender and moreish meat. seemingly better quality than the steak the afters was a crème brûlée and it was very nice, the dish was hot and the top was crispy. the pudding itself wasn’t too sweet and it had a very nice taste and texture. once again i was prompted outside of my chosen menu, to order a dessert, which would have taken the price of my meal up. i understand this is common business practice but it seemed a bit excessive and a small bit unprofessional. i felt it was a bit of a weird thing to suggest since i hadn’t particularly enjoyed my meal so much as i was excited for it and it felt like a cop out to get some more P’s off of me. all in all it was a very average dinner. however i have had a lot better from places a lot cheaper. Maybe have a look around before coming here, there are many gems around bordeaux. THREE STARS

We were given a recommendation for A Cantina Comptoir Corse and we're so glad we went. We managed to get a table for 4 without a booking in the very busy and busily ground floor tapas. The waiter spoke good English, and gave us a great recommendation for wine, as we didn't know much about Corse wine. And the food was just superb! You wonder why choose Corse food when in Bordeaux, but you will not be disappointed. Particular highlights were the veal pittas and the calamari.

The wine selection is huge and the recommendation of the waiter was spot on. I started my lunch with the tricandilles, fried porc intestines, in a parsley garlic sauce. The portion was huge and it tasted way better than I thought it would. I generally like offal so whenever I have the chance I like to try something new. My wife opted for the pate de campagne, which was awesome as well. As main we had the Cote de Porc Kintoa, which is made from a specific race of pigs that roam freely. The meat was tender and soft and the fat was soo tasty. I usually don’t eat the fat, but this was something else.simply delicious. Given the vast options of meats I will come back to try more when I am again in Bordeaux. I specifically have the black pudding and lamb shoulder on my list. The portions were very generous so I recommend to come when hungry!

The most wonderful meal and experience. Every single plate we had was outstanding, the waiters were so friendly and the atmosphere was bubbly on a Saturday night as everyone tucked into their plates. The best meal we had in Bordeaux and one we will not forget soon. Highly recommend getting the pig leg 😍

Excellent flesh-centric supper. A truely outstanding restaurant experience from the location (off the beaten track) to the interior (nonchalant bistro) to the hospitality (calm, warm, experienced). Oysters brilliant and tartare very good - menu full of wonderful sounding things. Go in a group so you can taste plenty!

Shit happens, what a fun at Cochon Volant - interior red and white, waiters excellent, we had snails, lamb chops and excellent vin blanc. End of bill, I believe I can fly :)

A fabulous meal - the food I have had in some time. The beef was cooked to perfection with a wonderful flavour. The dining room is in an interesting setting - an old butcher. The thing that stops me giving it 5 stars is that the ambience is not as refined as the food. This makes it relaxed but not ideal for a special occasion.

Les Halles Bacalan, also known as Halles de Bacalan, is a popular food market in Bordeaux that opened in 2017. It has quickly become a favorite spot for food enthusiasts, offering a wide array of gourmet foods and drinks. The market features over twenty farmers, artisanal traders, and regional chefs who come together to create a unique food court experience.
One of my favourites places to eat in Bordeaux. There is a wide range of food, with savoury and sweet. They also offer wine, smoothies and cafe. There's sitting indoors and outdoors. And it's all super tasty and very cheap. Would have popped again if I had time yo try other option .

Awesome market with huge choice of fantastic food. Bustling and great way to spend an afternoon sipping wine and trying all of the choices. From steak and chips to oysters, tapas, pastas, salads and more!

We came here for lunch and were pleasantly surprised -- we went to the Paul Bocuse one in Lyon and thought it was a tourist trap. This one may still cater to tourists, but the food was good, the ambience was much better, and you can actually just get a few items in each place and try a little bit of everything in the shared seating areas. As for the food, we ordered steak from Bar A Viande, wine from Vinimarche, as well as chocolate mousse and vanilla flan from Tchu and everything was excellent. Would definitely recommend this food hall, and already planning on coming back tomorrow. Edit: We did come back 2 days after to L'etal Iberique, and were extremely disappointed. We each ordered 5 of the sliced bread with toppings on top (so 10 different ones), and they ranged from average to bad.. would not recommend this place, but still loved all the other establishments here.

Huge area for food and drink options. Not sure where all the customers come from presumably some unseen office blocks in the dock area. Lots of choice. I had a good sandwich albeit it wasn't warm despite it being "heated" for 5 minutes

Very nice pinchos loved them a lot. The arancini from the italian booth was ok (tookthe spinach mozza) Also a special mention to the latin american booth where I had amazing empanadas the axoa (wow) and the truffle ham. The alfajores was something very special which I highly recommend, I ordered the chocolate nutella one.

Bodega Bodega is a casual, two-story bar in Bordeaux that offers a Spanish ambiance with tapas, mojitos, and sangria. Located near the Grand Theatre, it's a popular spot for both locals and tourists. The bar serves Spanish delicacies such as tapas and Spanish ham. It's known for its lively atmosphere where you can enjoy good food on the first floor and then dance the night away upstairs.
If you're looking for an authentic taste of Spain right in the heart of Bordeaux, Bodega Bodega is a must-visit. This vibrant Spanish bar perfectly blends a warm ambiance with delicious food and expertly crafted cocktails, making it an ideal spot for both casual gatherings and lively celebrations. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted by the lively atmosphere, enhanced by a fantastic playlist of upbeat Spanish pop music that set the perfect mood for the evening. The décor is charmingly rustic, with colorful tiles and wooden accents that transport you straight to a tapas bar in Barcelona. The cocktail menu is impressive, showcasing a variety of classic Spanish drinks. I opted for a refreshing Mojito while my companion chose a perfectly crafted pornstar martini. Both drinks were executed flawlessly, highlighting the bar's commitment to quality mixology. The food menu is a delightful homage to Spanish cuisine. We started with a platter of assorted croquettes, tabla con pan con tomate and tortilla. The jamón ibérico almost melted in your mouth. Each dish was beautifully presented and tasted as good as it looked. As the evening progressed, the atmosphere only grew livelier. The staff was friendly and accommodating, ensuring we had everything we needed without being intrusive. In terms of pricing, Bodega Bodega offers a great value for the quality of food and drinks you receive. It’s a delightful spot to unwind with friends over good food and excellent cocktails while immersing yourself in the vibrant culture of Spain. **Overall Rating: 4.8/5** Bodega Bodega is definitely a hidden gem in Bordeaux that you don’t want to miss. I look forward to returning to savor more of their delightful offerings!

I went to this bar late at night with a group of friends. It was pretty easy to find, which is always a plus. When we got there, the atmosphere was decent — a bit too crowded, but still lively. We ordered vodka, and each glass was around €5. Honestly, that felt a bit expensive for what it was, especially since we had a few rounds. One thing that stood out (not in the best way) was the music. It was really loud, making it almost impossible to have a proper conversation. I get that it’s a bar and music is part of the vibe, but having breaks or a change in volume during the night would really help. Also, the playlist wasn’t great — not many good or recognizable songs. They could definitely improve their music selection to keep people more engaged and maybe even dancing. Overall, it’s not a bad place if you're just looking to hang out with friends, drink, and enjoy the night. But don’t expect anything super special. It’s a bit pricey for what you get, and if you’re looking for a spot to chill and talk, this probably isn’t the best choice. That said, it’s not terrible either — just an average bar with room to improve.

We visited as a family of 9 after 1pm. We were warmly welcomed and told they absolutely had space for us and we're seated at a table for 10. The children's menu was 11€ and the adults set menu 19€ - four children had the delicious steak haché with fries and salad, followed by ice cream. Both were the best we'd had in the past 10 days in Bordeaux. While, my wife and I had beautifully light and tasty fish and chips complete with fries, salad and homemade tartare sauce. Our two eldest (teenage boys) had the steak with fries. Three of us had the café creme for pudding which was stunningly delicious and one had the delicious ice cream. The whole experience was made all the better by the lovely Emma, who looked after us the whole time. It was our 16th wedding anniversary meal, all impromptu (unfortunately the way with the children at the ages they are!), so we were delighted all the more that the team at Bodega Bodega gave us such a great experience. Thank you!!

I recently dined at your restaurant with some friends and unfortunately, I cannot provide a positive review. While the food was satisfactory, the experience was marred by our interaction with the manager. Although our server was lovely, the manager was focused solely on business and appeared to have no interest in creating a warm and welcoming environment. At the end of the meal, we were surprised to see that we had been charged for an expensive set menu that we did not order. We tried to explain our misunderstanding, but the manager would not budge on the price and we were eventually forced to pay the full amount. We left feeling disappointed and frustrated. Because of this experience, I cannot recommend your restaurant to others who are looking for a warm and welcoming dining experience. I urge you to consider the impact of your business practices on your customers and to work on creating a more inviting and friendly atmosphere for all who visit. The standards set by the 3000 or so other restaurants set in beautiful Bordeaux are a good example for you to use.

Terrible experience. We arrived and ordered at about 6:10. We only ordered two small plates. 25 minutes after we ordered, a cook came out from the back and said they had a problem with the fryer, and our food would be out in 10 minutes. 30 minutes later, our second plate had not yet arrived. The table next to us got their food despite arriving 45 minutes after us. Our first waitress sat down at a table with friends and got a big order of fries while we were waiting for our food. We were told several times our second plate was coming. We paid and left despite not getting out whole order that we paid for. The second waitress was very nice but we were tired of waiting.

Le Chapon Fin is a renowned destination restaurant in Bordeaux, known for its ornate rococo decor and a menu that highlights local ingredients and fine wines. Established in 1825, it holds historical significance as one of the first 33 restaurants recognized by Michelin in 1933. The restaurant has welcomed esteemed guests such as wealthy wine merchants, elite travelers, and cultural icons like Sarah Bernhardt and Toulouse-Lautrec.
On par with Michelin star restaurants we've been to. Phenomenal menu, thoughtful wine pairing, and the service was incredible. The staff made the evening one of the most enjoyable dining experiences we've ever had. Can't wait to go back!

My husband and I received this restaurant as a wedding gift in July. We were quite disappointed with the service, we knew that we forgot the invitation at home so we have told the server up front and they told us “no worries, they can find us in the system”. Well after 20min, they couldn’t find it and we could fell the change in their attitude. Luckily, we were able to ask your neighbor to come to our apartment then took a picture of the invitation and sent it to us. After that, thing got better. The restaurant ambience was amazing. The food were good and we really like the wine pairing. We was just really disappointed for the service.

One of the finest dishes you can expect with a great wine pairing selection in a select location! It was our best dinner in a ten days trip on the area. The music was a bit of a disappointment- no live piano performance tonight and the playlist was rather too modern and too much of a ballroom dancing The staff in general attentive. I would definitely recommend!
Sorin B — Google review
If you are looking for an intimate experience while tasting the wide variety of wines that Bordeaux has to offer, I would recommend you to go to Le Chapon Fin. The food is delicate and well plated, each dish paired with an accompanying wine. The interior is wide and tables are spread out, and it is perfect to rent this space out for small events.
Baliana — Google review
We loved our experience at Le Chapon Fin! Every dish was a quintessential ‘food meets art’ presentation. The service was outstanding too, with an impressive ‘staff to diner’ ratio, and yet we didn’t feel crowded, but rather given the time to enjoy the meal in a relaxed way. Our main waiter allowed his personality to show through, enjoying a little joke or two with us along the way. To sum up - 5 star silver service dining with a surprisingly relaxed vibe.

Cacio M — Google review
I’m not a Michelin lover normally. Usually as soon as a restaurant gets their star their service declines, attitude gets arrogant and food becomes marginal. Not with Chapon Fin. This place is amazing. They treat everyone with respect and elegance. Service amazing. Food amazing. Prices very fair. It was our 31st anniversary and one of the best meals we have every had. Context.: We travel 4 months out of the year all over the world. So we have eaten out a lot.!!

Amazing experience 🤩. Super tasty and beautifully served dishes, all very well explained by super professional and young waitresses. Great selection of wine - and you can count on the advice of waitresses - no disappointments! All of it within the beautiful surroundings of the restaurant founded in the XIX century. The food is sort of bland? The ceasar salad was actually bad, like we couldn’t finish it. Super fishy and not traditional. Was almost yogurt based? Egg on top was cold. Just an odd dish. It was the most underwhelming of the restaurants we visited in Bordeaux. We wished we went back to Le Carré.

Our goto place when we spend a night in Bordeaux when we travel to or from Spain. We love authentic places with not too many tourists 😉. Basking in the ambiance of the French ❤️‍🔥. Although the place was packed this time the food was still amazing and tasty as ever. My wife’s a fan of their beautifully cut patato gratin and she got what she came for. Staff is always kind and friendly. Also helps that they speak English. Menu is in French though but Google Translate is your best friend 🥰.

A great local place for a reasonably priced steak cooked to perfection. We had a great meal here and loved the hustle and bustle of the place. It was busy so I’d recommend booking and though we weren’t told it seems best to pay at the bar. Good if you want a less touristy option with good local food.

This restaurant is well known by the citizens of Chartron district. The ingredients are fresh, the dishes are innovative, there are lots of great wines, and the service staff are very enthusiastic. The steak was delicious with a rich aroma. The restaurant had a wonderful atmosphere, and the staff were very friendly. The dining setting felt warm and cozy. We ordered a bottle of 2021 Margaux, Confidences de Prieuré-Lichine, which paired beautifully with the steak. For dessert, we had crème brûlée, which we and our parents all loved. Thank you. excellent service, helpful and friendly staff, huge portions and excellent taste. thank you for everything. We came back after 1 month. It was amazing again. Customer satisfaction is at the highest level. Amazing flavors and service. My wife has celiac disease and since they accidentally put a sauce containing flour in the product we ordered, the owner also prepared a new product for my wife. A place where those who come to Bordeaux should definitely eat. Thank you for everything. I'm back here after five months. I've eaten at really good restaurants in many cities around the world. But I've never seen the quality, attention and care, and customer focus here in almost any of them. Moreover, the flavors get better every time I come. The boss is also incredibly friendly and helpful. If you come to Bordoeaux and leave without eating here, you'll really be making a mistake. We're back here after six months, nothing has changed. Lovely lunch sitting outside the market watching the world go by. Extremely reasonable in price. You can get 6 oysters and a wine for €11. The oysters were devine, fresh & plump. The fish soup was super tasty. The prawns have previously been frozen but they were still good. Charcuterie board was also really good. House wine perfectly quaffable. All in all very good and an authentic experience, majority of people there were French so always a good sign.

We ordered oysters (6 for €8.50) crevette (6 for €8.30). Both excellent. A bottle of Chablis was €35. They had other more inexpensive wines but all were unfortunately Sauvignon. I would have liked a hot option. Otherwise I thought the food was very good. The value was good. I would recommend.

Le Cromagnon takes the popular Himalayan salt trend to a new level by presenting guests with a sizzling hot stone on which they can personally cook their meat. Chef Oxana Ramat, originally from Moldova, drew inspiration from the warm and inviting ambiance of campfire cooking. The restaurant offers exceptional service in an unpretentious setting, allowing diners to enjoy French, Contemporary, European, Fusion, and Healthy cuisine.

Cannot fault the food or service, however just wasn’t quite what we expected. 6 courses all about the same size as the amuse bouche, beautifully presented but almost not substantial enough to match the three glasses of wine. We left feeling like we had more to drink than eat. However if you don’t mind very small portions, the food is creative, delicious and almost too pretty to eat, and the service is warm and accommodating of our lack of speaking French.

Good food but arguably the worst service ever in a fine dining restaurant I’ve had. Restaurant was severely understaffed to the point where our tasting menu took 5 hours, until 1 in the morning. Finished plates sat in front of us for 45+ minutes, and wine glasses sat empty. Even during service, we sat with our food in front of us waiting for the wine pairing to arrive. Also no details of the food or wine pairing were shared in advance, making it extremely difficult to even understand where in the menu we were.

The muscles were absolutely delicious of both versions that we ordered. A nice white wine together was also very good. We're so happy we took the 25-minute walk to get there. If you're anywhere around Bordeaux, I highly recommend you try this place.

I loved it. The mussels are the thing you have to try, the product is fresh in the middle of this small market. They give a huge pot and a plate with crunchy fries 🍟. Don't forget to pair your meal with a glass of wine.

Absolutely delicious. Very impressed by the waitress who was all alone and managed the long lines with efficiency, politeness and a smile on her face! Less busy on a weekday around 12:30pm, very yummy mussels!

Mussels tastes fresh and the texture is creamy. We even drank the broth. The fries are no good though, like they have been left there for hours and are not crispy at all.

Shared a mussels and chips. It is a good amount to share, depending how hungry you are. The creamy sauce was lovely. And so was the service. Cute atmosphere! Would recommend. Diverse area around & Affordable prices

Located inside the market. No outdoor seating Best mussels (€15 to €16 per portion) I have had in years. Sadly fries & cappuccino were very poor. Menu is small. Focus is mussels which is a good idea See pic for pricing I would come again regardless as mussels were that good Nice service - helpful & friendly Small queue at times. High & low tables. Reasonably priced. Small wine list. 3 whites, 1 rose, some reds. Great market atmosphere

Dunes Blanches chez Pascal Bordeaux is a modern patisserie known for its signature cream-filled pastry puffs. These delicate and sweet pastries, similar to cream puffs, have gained popularity and are now available in both Cap Ferret and Bordeaux. The choux pastry filled with light whipped cream and dusted with powdered sugar has become a must-try treat for locals and visitors alike.
Really good. Not only did we go back immediately to get another portion, we returned the next day The seasonal flavour ones were meh, the chocolate wasn't rich. Dark chocolate wasn't sweet at all and that makes it nowhere near as good as the original The original really is something. It's got crispy bits of cereals for texture, and there's good flavour too. Something special, different from your usual Choux. Unfortunately there's this savoury egg smell, it's well hidden and so doesn't rlly affect the experience too much, but it's there

Delicious Dunes Blanches, a must try if in Bordeaux. We visited on a pastry tour (which I would also highly recommend). Plenty of coffee shops nearby to pair with your pastry.

Small bakery that only sells and specialises in one sort of small pastry - which was incredible! They're crispy on the outside while being filled with an airy cream. They're so light that you can easily polish off multiple yourself! We had the original one and the chocolate flavour - both were delicious but I think I preferred the original

Excellent variety! I got 4 different types of pastry today, my favourite was the pistachio, with the classic one coming in a close 2nd. Tiramisu and lemon were a miss. The total was 5.5€. They have a steal deal going on where you can get 6 classics for 5.9€ so i am going back tomorrow to grab a box for my husband! Delightful find.

Le Bistrot du Cachalot is a seafood bistro known for its great value and generous portions. While some find the oysters and mussels slightly smaller than preferred, they are still fresh and flavorful. The menu offers a variety of dishes, including seasonal options like tuna, and classics like fish and chips that are highly recommended. The friendly staff, good quality food, and well-priced wine make it a must-visit spot in Bordeaux for seafood lovers.
Stunning food - absolutely no frills. The way each item was cooked beautifully highlighted how fresh the produce was here. We’ve never had calamari cooked so perfect, a gentle sear on the outside and incredibly tender on the inside. Mussels were fresh, sauce it was cooked in was flavourful and didn’t overpower the main protein. Would 100% come back and recommend to anyone in Bordeaux looking for a fresh & simple meal. Staff was also incredibly nice and attentive. Do try and make a reservation and come before 9:30pm because they do sell out - and you can’t blame them! It is just THAT good.

Sure! Here's a humorous review you could post: --- If you’re ever in Bordeaux and you don’t visit Le Bistrot du Cachalot, just know you are committing a serious crime... against your own taste buds. I had every intention of being a responsible diner — you know, the kind who documents every angle of every plate for posterity (and Instagram glory). But the second the mussels marinier and Roquefort arrived, my brain short-circuited. The sight, the smell, the promise of flavor was so overwhelming that my phone remained forgotten, abandoned somewhere between the bread basket and my wide-eyed gaze. No pictures. Zero evidence. Just pure, unadulterated eating bliss. And honestly, they were so delicious it would’ve been disrespectful to interrupt them with a photo shoot. Some moments are sacred. Everything else we ordered — from appetizers to dessert — was flawless, each dish making me fall a little more in love with this cozy, bustling spot. The warm, welcoming staff treated us like old friends coming over for a long-overdue meal. Le Bistrot du Cachalot isn’t just a restaurant; it’s a life experience. One you absolutely should not miss when in Bordeaux... and one where it’s totally acceptable (and practically expected) to forget your phone and just live in the moment — one glorious mussel at a time.

Really excellent seafood in a beautiful square. Super mussels and white bait. Home made mayo with seaweed is really excellent. Seaweed in their Mony Dick cocktail too which is a unique selling point. Stunning vegetarian dish of very light coquette fritters with curry. Just lovely.
Colin F — Google review
Absolutely incredible experience! The food was phenomenal — every bite full of flavor and freshness. The mussels were tender and perfectly cooked, with a rich, aromatic broth that was impossible to stop dipping into. And the oysters? Simply outstanding — fresh, briny, and served ice-cold, just as they should be. A true seafood lover’s dream. Can’t wait to come back!

What an absolute gem of a restaurant. I was looking for somewhere to have mussels and this popped up on my search. Hubby enjoyed his calamari followed by fish and chips while I had fabulous oysters and then mussels in a rocquefort sauce which was delicious. Our waiter recommend a superb red wine. Great service and fantastic price for such a fab dining experience.

A very good value oyster/ mussels bistro! The quality of the food might not be the best but with the price we are paying, it definitely worth every single penny! The fish is served with generous portions and it tasted amazing. Oyster was a bit smaller than I would like, it’s a no.3, I personally prefer a no. 2/1. Same for the mussels, majority of them are quite small despite they still taste fresh and good! I prefer the classic flavour instead of the Thai one as the Thai seasoning is overwhelming. Service is a bit hit and miss. The staff forgot to give us spare bowl for the mussels shell. Anyway, can’t complain too much in France. Overall, if you want a high value spot for oyster/mussel. This is the one you need to go.

Great classic French food. Beautiful presentation and delicious. Most delicious Duck Breast ever tasted. Beef cheeks were so tender they fell off your fork. Plentiful side dishes. Huge portions even by American standards. We would definately return!!
Elizabeth B — Google review
We had a great experience here: good food, excellent wine, and great service. The space was nice. Important to note: we ordered the steak which they finished with a liquor that they burned off. Fun to look at, but it does leave an aftertaste if it doesn't completely burn off.
Sami A — Google review
Beautiful place and friendly service, but unfortunately the food was lacking in flavour for us. The beef cheek has generous portion, alongside that beautiful big fat carrot, but it was lacking in flavour. The steak was hard. The duck was overcooked despite asking for medium, but it was still edible. The only one that is quite good is the beef tartar and the sliced ham. Generous portion too. Not sure if french cooking is like this and we are more used to stronger taste.
Mira H — Google review
The ribeye steak, ordered medium-rare, presented a significant issue, exhibiting a toughness (like chewing a leather shoe) that detracted from the dining experience. Given the price point of 42 euros, a higher standard of quality was anticipated. The beef tartare was also disappointing, lacking the desired texture. The accompanying fries were unsatisfactory, while the garden salad was the most positive aspect of the meal. Furthermore, the service was deficient, with an order being overlooked. The table arrangement was also problematic, with insufficient space for the dishes. Consequently, a return visit is not anticipated.

A Hidden Gem in Bordeaux’s Wine Cellar! We had an amazing experience at Brasserie Bordelaise. The food was beautifully cooked and full of flavour. A true highlight of French comfort cuisine! What made this visit even more special was the wine cellar dining room, such a unique and atmospheric space, surrounded by hundreds of bottles. Perfect for groups and families (yes, even with kids!), the setting was warm, rustic, and memorable. Service was fast, friendly, and professional. The wine selection is top-notch, definitely take a recommendation from the staff. They know their stuff. 📍 Located right in the heart of Bordeaux, this brasserie is a must for those wanting to enjoy classic French dishes with excellent wines in an unforgettable setting. Highly recommend!
VIC — Google review
When we arrived, a waiter was ready to redirect us to our booked table, after which the service was great and very fast (appreciated since we were very hungry). Good recommendation on the menu from the waiter. The food was very good, flavours well balanced and great wine pairing. The portions are also very generous, great value for the price. Two minuses, the noise level and… I ended up spending the night very (very) sick. I doubt that it came from the dishes themselves as everything looked very neat fresh and really tasty. One thing that could be the culprit is the little jar of salt on the table (we called it the thousand nibbles’ jar with my partner), where everybody who sat there previously might have dipped their fingers to help themselves. That’s where I would put a warning at least for myself for future visits, I can’t imagine this to be very safe considering it is the high season and the restaurant very busy. But overall, very very good place, would recommend !
Anissa S — Google review

We visited this restaurant for dinner as a family of three — my wife, our 9-year-old child, and me. The atmosphere was great, and it’s definitely a place you can enjoy with family. The server was friendly, and our first champagne and starters came out quickly, which we appreciated. However, the main courses took over an hour to arrive. We waited so long that my wife actually fell asleep at the table. I also ordered a risotto, but it was far from al dente — more like an overcooked, mushy rice casserole. Honestly, I don’t think something like that should be served as “risotto.” In the end, with four glasses of wine, one bottle of wine, and five dishes, the bill came to around EUR 250.

For a supermarket it was okay. It's much bigger than first impression when I was here. It's sufficiently stocked, brightly lit and very spacious to easily navigate. This one doesn't have much when it comes to fresh produce, but maybe because there's a much bigger Carrefour just around the corner with bigger selections. I find it easy for a quick shopping mid afternoon as it wasn't crowded. Very friendly cashier with a welcoming smile. Best part for me was the building; the stunning façades of Maison dorée! Le Puy Paulin is a traditional French bistro located in the center of Bordeaux. We came back twice, because we loved this restaurant. Veal liver was perfectly cooked, the fish dishes And desserts were amazing.

We had an amazing lunch at Brasserie l’Orleans. Although it took nearly 45 minutes for our meals to arrive, the wait was well worth it—both the lamb shank and salmon were absolutely delicious. The wine and overall atmosphere made the experience even better. We’ll definitely be coming back!

One of Bordeaux's oldest brasseries, and their experience shines. This is such a good choice if you want an authentic brasserie dining experience. Whether you're seated inside or on the terrace, you won't be disappointed with their food. Escargots are a must here and their generous wine list has something to compliment any meal choice be it fish, meat or pasta. Service is friendly and professional and prices are reasonable. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Best preparation of liver I’ve ever tasted. My husband had the sole Meunière and was very pleased. We shared the tomato and burrata appetizer. We shared the baked Alaska for dessert. Staff were friendly, helpful and attentive. My favorite of all the Brasseries we’ve tried. Hope to return before we leave.

Yesterday I was in this place with a group, I want noted that we are all foreigners from different parts of the world. We arrived a little earlier at 19:10 than the booked time (19:30) and were immediately met with a negative attitude from the waiters, who tried to throw us away. Then we were finally placed in the some kind of a basement, where were dust, overturned chairs and dirty mirrors. Glasses for wine and water wich were placed on the table was quite dirty, it was some kind of calcium plaque. The icing on the cake was the water had some mold floating in it. The waiters are very unfriendly, probably because we are foreigners. The food is of quite average quality, it’s more of an acquired taste. In general, this place left an extremely negative impression.

Lovely place! The foie gras was very good with a creamy and mild flavor. The escargots were also very good and wonderful price-quality wise with €6 for 12 escargots! The baked camembert was also very tasty, but a bit bland with pretty stale bread. The pavé de bœuf with frites were excellent medium piece of beef. Le cheese burger was perfectly cooked, the bread was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, however the cheddar wasn’t totally melted. The fries weren’t very good, quite soggy. The tagliatelle was pretty boring, not very special. Pretty oily with a minimum of greens and flavor. The fish and chips were very good with perfectly crispy fish! The bernaise saus was the best I’ve ever had, pretty rough with bigger pieces of onion and pickle. The boudin noir (blood sausage) was very tasty, it was blood sausage but with a bit of meat (kind of pulled meat) in it with traditional potatoes. The side of potato mash was a nice extra. The wine was absolutely wonderful and we got good tips from the staff. The atmosphere was very good, not too busy and touristic. Regarding the desserts, the chocolate mousse was delicious and the creme brulée was sweet and crispy. The cheese platter was also very good with a diverse sample of four cheeses. There was no explanation with the cheeses which could have been better. So in short, when going to Bordeaux, we recommend this brasserie!!!

Nestled within the vibrant Marche des Capucins, Le Guet-A-Pan stands out as a modern gem among the bustling food stalls. This eatery may not boast extravagant decor, but it certainly impresses with its diverse and sophisticated menu that features an array of tapas inspired by French, Spanish, and Italian cuisines. Diners can indulge in delightful dishes such as squid, burrata, and fresh oysters.
We had the lunch set menu which was a bargain! The portions were huge and they were super warming. Really enjoyed it and I’ll definitely come back to try it again!

Solid bistro fair at the market. My Caesar salad was gigantic I guess that’s why the menu said XXL 😋 fried chicken cutlet was done to perfection. The rosé for 6 euro per glass was also fantastic. Service was prompt and friendly. We came for the steak tartare but it was sold out. Come early if you want that too.

We had onglet de boeuf, magret de canard and wine for lunch. The meats are fresh and tasty, and the service was nice!

Fantastic food in the market. The service was a bit iffy - friendly but slow.

We ordered the sausages and fish of the day (sea bass) - they were both amazing and came with a massive side of fries that were the best fries we had in Bordeaux (fresh cut fries in clean oil). Friendly staff, great vibes.

We had a daily menu. Food was good, waitress was kind and spoke English. For EUR 18.

Lovely place in Marches des Capucins. The portions are a great value for money. We opted for fish and lamb - simple but high quality and cooked to perfection. Perfect spot for a lazy sunday! Staff is friendly and welcoming. Don’t forget to check out the weekend market and bring back home so fresh produce

The cuisine is incredibly fresh, and the advice is very appropriate, without any commercialism. The oysters are remarkably well shucked!! (Translated by Google) I bought oysters from Bruno's during the lockdown, so I bought them to go. I was extremely disappointed. The price was way overpriced for the quality. I got two oysters without water, so I'll let you imagine the rest. I still ate some. They were a far cry from the quality touted in Google reviews. In short, I won't be going back. (Original) J'ai acheté des huîtres chez Bruno lors du confinement donc acheté à emporté. J'ai été extrêmement déçu. Le prix était largement excessif par rapport à la qualité. Located near the Camille Julian square, Croc-Loup is a gastronomic restaurant that impresses with its combination of indulgence and sophistication. The cuisine is described as generous yet refined. Visitors have praised the delicious and filling menu options, highlighting dishes like squid salad, ravioli, and poultry. Despite being fully booked, the service was efficient and attentive. Guests have also appreciated the intimate ambiance and reasonable pricing at this fantastic dining spot.
Absolutely fantastic place, definitely check it out. Food and ambience were lovely. The owner really appreciated my attempt at making the reservation in French and kindly told my girlfriend (a québécois) so. Staff were wonderful

We have had dinner here and went for the menu option. It was delicious and filling. The restaurant was 100% full and there was only one waitress, but she was keeping it up and service was fast. Do note that it can get extremely hot in summer, and like a lot of places in France, there is no air conditioning (or they might be but it was broken that night when we went there). And trust me, at can be a challenge drinking red wine and eating beef at 35 degrees with no a/c. :-)
