Seafood market
Oyster bar restaurant
Restaurant
Quality Seafood Market is a long-standing establishment in Austin, serving up fresh Gulf seafood in various delicious preparations. The market offers a wide selection of seafood for purchase, and the restaurant provides a spacious dining area with bars and high-tops. Visitors can enjoy Gulf Coast and grilled oysters, but the Blue Point oysters are particularly recommended for their large size and salty flavor.
Everyone loves visiting a new and shiny restaurant.  It's a great place to see and be seen.  There are craft cocktails, trendy food dishes and a decor that will provide perfect selfies for your Instagram or Facebook account (depending upon your age). Quality Seafood is not new (87-years-old founded in 1938), it's ambiance isn't sexy or hip and it smells fishy. That's actually a good thing.  Another good thing is their food.  Actually, it's kinda great! Going to Quality for the first time might confuse many people.  Is it a restaurant?  Is it a bar? Or, is it a seafood market? Yes. If you want some direction on how to approach this unique space, I suggest starting at the bar for happy hour.  It's a blue collar joint, so maybe order a beer ($2) or a glass of wine ($6). Think basic cocktails too. Oysters on the half shell are a must and they have a selection of 12-15 of East Coast Oysters for $2.25 each.  Gulf Oysters are $1.25 each and Texas-farmed oysters are $1.50.   You can also get them grilled one of three ways for $4 each - House-style, Rockefeller or Pepper Patch. I would also suggests getting some Peel and Eat Shrimp ($0.35 each), the Coconut Shrimp $0.75 each and the Crawfish Dip ($8).  You can also order off the main menu, but more on that later. Cathy will probably be working at the bar, she's been there for a couple of decades.  She'll take good care of you, after a few visits, she'll remember you and treat you like familiy. The restaurant side of the house does not have table service.  You order at a counter and they will bring your food to the table. If you love seafood hold on.  They have catfish, cod, salmon, trout and Texas drum.  You can get them grilled or blackened. There's shrimp, clam strips, soups, chowder, gumbo, Po Boys (10 Kinds), seafood salads and 12 different sides.  You can get all of these foods ala carte or in a myriad of combos, plates, platters and dinners.  You can't make a wrong choice, everything is excellent. If you want help, get a cup of the chowder ($8), with some cornbread($3)  Order the catch of the day and get it blackened.  For your sides (you get two) try their macaroni and cheese. Ask they about how they make it, it's a very different twist on the traditional preparation.  Your other side should be the coleslaw or the beans; hush puppies if you don't mind two starches. If you've made it this far, there's still the seafood market. The market is a really unique place for being located in Central Texas. They bring in fresh fish daily from the Gulf. Shoppers to the market are usually able to select from 8-10 different types of fresh, never frozen fish, shimp, scallops, clams and crab.  In another case, there is smoked salmon, deviled eggs with smoked salmon and salmon candy (seafood crack).  There are soups, chowder and gumbo by the pint and quart, and six coolers of frozen seafood, many containing items prepared in house. Your ultimate visit tip: Come and buy some seafood for tomorrow night's dinner, and they will put it in one of the coolers  for you to pick upon the way out. Sit down with Cathy at the bar and enjoy some great Texas hospitality while noshing on some of ATX's best seafood.  Boom!

First time visiting; was not throughly impressed but it’s okay. In my opinion, unsure if I would make another trip in the future. The lobster and snow crab lacked seasoning. Butter is provided to dip the meat in however, it’s bland as well. There was tartar, hot sauce, lemon wedges, cocktail sauce and Worcestershire sauce on the back table. But that’s more for the oysters they sell on premise. The hostess was nice. I did notice most of the kitchen staff didn’t have hair nets or anything to protect their hair. As for the seafood market side. They have an assortment of different type fishes. They also sold planks, cookbooks and rubs for your seafood.

This is a seafood restaurant and a fish market. The food was good and plentiful. Lots of seating. A little confusing in that you get your drinks and napkins at one station and the utensils and condiments from a station on the other side of the seating area. They have several freezers wof fish including cooked octopus legs. Finally there is a good-sized fresh fish market. If I heard correctly you can take it with you or they can cook it for you.

I want to leave a 4.5 rating but apparently it’s full stars only on this app review. We sat at the bar counter top, surrounded by regulars. Setting was a delightful New Orleans vibe/cuisine. Excellent east coast oysters. Also loved the cornbread, green beans, and broiled cod plate. Service was very busy but kind. The (all women team) allowed us to try the candied salmon. AMAZING. I’m planning to make this a regular spot <3

I love this female & family run business. I buy fish from there for my personal consumption but also wholesale for my restaurant and they are lovely people to work with. Great attitudes and really good quality fish, pricing. Carol the owner is so reliable and really wants to help local Austin restaurant owners! They always come through and have a ton of selection of wild caught fish. I think Central market has a great fresh fish selection as well but Quality has fresher and their pricing isn’t as gougey… also it’s nice to support a local small business. Their black drum is probably a sleeper fish, I can’t say enough good things about it. I haven’t been able to sit at the bar for oysters but really want to do that one day soon when I have a day off! It’s a gem of a spot.

Quality Seafood is an absolute gem! Hands down the best place in town for the freshest, most delicious seafood! Every visit feels like a treat, and you can tell the difference in quality the moment you take your first bite. What really sets this place apart, though, is Carol, the owner. She’s the heart and soul of Quality Seafood, warm, welcoming, and genuinely passionate about what she does. Carol always goes above and beyond to make sure every customer leaves happy. If you haven’t been yet, do yourself a favor and go, and make sure to say hi to Carol! You’ll see why everyone loves this place.

I’ve been here a few times, and I like it! Fun atmosphere that has no pretense, even more fun if you get a seat at the bar during happy hour. The food is great for the price, but not magical. I recommend the happy hour peel-and-eat shrimp deal as well as anything blackened on the menu, and the hush puppies!
Eric N — Google review
Met a friend here on Thursday night 6:30 pm, the place had a lot of people. We ordered the hush puppies, gulf coast oysters, clam strips, shrimps, and got drinks. The oysters were super tasty and fresh!!! Can’t get enough of it. And it seems like everyone was there for the oysters. I would come here again for happy hour!!!

Perla's is a laid-back seafood spot located on South Congress, offering a variety of dishes such as fish, oysters, and surf 'n' turf. The restaurant features an open kitchen and a shaded patio that is described as one of Austin's prettiest oak-shaded patios. With ample seating, lights, fans, umbrellas, and great music, it provides a relaxed dining experience while allowing for social distancing.
We LOVED Perla’s! My boyfriend and I did brunch while staying for a quick weekend getaway. The staff, the food, the ambiance blew us away. Upon sitting down, we were greeted with a sweet happy anniversary card from the staff. Our server was so friendly and great with his recommendations. The oysters were 🤌🏻 chefs kiss. As an east coast girlie, it’s hard to find fresh and quality oysters in Texas.. and these did not disappoint! The crab omelet was delectable and perfect blend of flavors. The lobster roll was just as good as some of the best spots in Boston. The Strawberry tart was a perfect sweet ending to a wonderful meal. 12/10. Will be back for sure!

We have eight hair several times and absolutely love it. We took our family there for a celebration dinner last week. they always have a great variety of oysters and yummy. The cocktails are spot on the tuna tostadas are our favorite. My son had the lobster pasta, which was very tasty and a huge portion, my daughter had the cheeseburger and my husband had a warm lobster roll. Great service, the servers help each other out and i love that! we sat outside and the covered dining area, which was awesome because the mosquitoes did not get my husband, but the ambience is so fun and it just has a cool vibe about it!!!!! Highly Recommend!
Christy G — Google review
Brunch at Perla’s is a seaside-escape in the heart of Austin. The oak-shaded patio invites a slow afternoon, and the menu doesn’t disappoint: oysters, ceviche, maybe a lobster roll or an egg white frittata if you’re feeling indulgent. Service felt warm and attentive it’s that kind of spot where they know the vibe and meet it. My only caveat: it leans upscale, and the buzz around the patio means it’s not the quietest table in town. But for a brunch that nails both food and setting, this hits 💕
Funmi S — Google review
We found this spot on a casual stroll on Congress and decided it was too cute not to try - and we weren’t disappointed! We got seated immediately at the bar section and enjoyed a couple beverages and some bites (I forgot to snag some photos of the dishes… but we got the BBQ shrimp (deshelled) and the ahi tuna tostada) honestly, I highly recommend these bites! 10/10! The service was awesome and the ambience was perfect for a Saturday night!
Rachel G — Google review
One of my birthday dinner. Fresh & delicious. Only bad thing is drink consistency from the bar vs table... my mojito at the bar tasted like sprite with a hint of booze.... at the table, straight liquor. Lobster roll, BBQ shrimp, calamari, Lobster mac n cheese (too salty), charred Brussel sprouts... simply divine!
I H — Google review
⭐️⭐️⭐️ (3 Stars) 9/13/2025 We went to Perla’s Oyster Bar and the place itself is nice, with a good atmosphere. Our server Paige B did a wonderful job checking on us and giving great service. I ordered the Fish and Chips and my wife had the Sea Bass a la Plancha. The food looked good on the plate, but the taste just wasn’t there. My fish didn’t have the flavor I’ve had at other seafood spots, and my wife’s dish had a fishy taste she didn’t enjoy. For the cost, I expected better taste and quality. We spent about $107 with tip, and honestly, it wasn’t worth it. The portions weren’t very filling, and we actually ended up going to Pluckers afterward because I was still hungry. We only had water, so if you order drinks here, the bill will be even higher. The restaurant was packed, but it seemed like most people were there for the drinks and the social scene more than the food. It’s a nice place, but I can’t recommend it because I love good-tasting food, and this just didn’t deliver.
Billy R — Google review
Wow! Our first experience at Perla’s and look forward to our next. Food was excellent, the staff were very knowledgeable and helpful with making selections including the types of oysters to select, mains and best sides right down to the wine selection. Denise made our evening a success! It’s a little loud but a fun place to be.
Jonathan A — Google review
The parking garage is great. It’s behind the restaurant down an alley of W Gibson Street. Don’t pay upon arrival even tho the signs will stress you out. When you get in the restaurant they have a device on the counter with validation for 2 hours of parking. Just make sure you have your license plate number. The restaurant is great. Higher end seafood ambiance. Part of the outdoor seating is screened. They have nice lighting and beautiful trees. Gabby knew her wines and helped me pick a Chardonnay with both oak and butter notes. They were able to accommodate gluten and dairy allergies. Confirmed it upon delivery. They have a Cotes du Rhône Grenache that my friend is a fan of. If you love Grenache the Cotes du Rhône region has a nice spicy herbal dry taste. The sea bass had crispy skin and tasted amazing. The peppers were sometimes spicy. All on top of hummus decoratively placed. My friend enjoyed the scallops and the calamari appetizer. Thank you for a nice experience.

Clark's Oyster Bar in Austin is a stylish seafood haven that beautifully blends upscale casual dining with a warm, inviting atmosphere. Nestled in a former auto shop within the lively Montrose neighborhood, this vibrant spot boasts both indoor and outdoor seating options. Since its grand opening in Fall 2023, Clark's has quickly become known for its impressive selection of freshly shucked oysters, delectable lobster rolls, and daily fish specials that highlight the freshest catches.
Clark's was great! With the weather and the atmosphere, it felt like being on the coast and having some amazing seafood. Make sure you start yourself with the ceviche and grab an oyster from each spot you won't be disappointed. You can't go wrong with any of the food truly a great spot to relax and enjoy a light beer and some amazing seafood.

Place is nice and despite it being very hot, the outside has a great breeze and it’s cooling with sprinklers. The service was excellent, our waiter was super attentive and friendly. We did have the crab salad and it was delicious! However, I would not recommend it due to there being pieces of crab shell in our salad. Clark’s took our caviar virginity and we would have it no other way. The toppings were great and the flavor was fresh and delicious. *dog friendly*
Somekindofalien X — Google review
Had a decent time here for dinner. It’s an interesting mix between casual and fine dining with both their menu and their atmosphere. Our waitress was excellent and we really enjoyed the oysters shrimp and linguine with clams. I wasn’t a fan of the hot sauce in the clam chowder or the amount of chives in the lobster roll. Overall, this was a nice dining experience, but next time I would want to sit inside and would be more selective with the items I ordered.
Kelly S — Google review
We visited this spot on a Friday afternoon, and it was absolutely packed, which shows how popular it is. The vibe definitely leans casually fancy, with a stylish atmosphere that makes it feel like a special outing. I tried a few of their vegetable dishes, including the cabbage steak, cauliflower, baked potatoes, and kale. While everything was nicely plated and cooked well, I’d say this isn’t the best choice if you’re vegetarian or vegan. Many of the veggie dishes carried a strong meaty flavor, almost as if they were cooked in the same style as the meat options, which wasn’t quite what I was looking for. The food itself was fine, just not particularly memorable for the price point—it felt a little on the expensive side for what I ordered. Overall, I’d say it’s more of a place to accompany friends than a go-to spot for plant-based eaters.

Shout out to Daisy and the team at Clarks. Had a super frustrating experience earlier in the night and they totally turned the whole night around for me and my mom, who's visiting from out of town. They sat us quickly with no fuss and they were super attentive the whole night during dinner. Happy to give my money to one of the Austin's finest and best since 2012. You have to get the clam chowder, linguine and clams, and get the chocolate mousse too. Drinks were on point and chefs kiss again for the service. Although they were busy on a Monday night the staff treated everyone kindly and with respect. Thank you Clark's. Will be back!
Hon L — Google review
One of my favorite Austin restaurants! I’m obsessed with the crudo plate and I’m elated they added ceviche to the menu. The tuna carpaccio and shrimp toast are heavenly and their drinks are pretty light and refreshing, too. We tried the basque cake last time we were here and it was amazing!!

I love the vibe at Clark’s Oyster Bar. We sat on the patio, which is shaded and perfect for people-watching and just relaxing. Service is friendly and attentive. We’ve tried every oyster on their menu, and each one was excellent with great brine, texture, and variety. The crab cake was another standout, crispy on the outside, rich and flavorful inside, and perfectly paired with the salad and pickled shallots.

The classic mule and lobster roll were amazing! I usually like my lobster rolls warm but this was great. Never got my bread and butter but it’s okay because now I have a reason to go back. Highly recommend!

Mongers is a multifaceted establishment in central Austin that offers a unique dining experience. It combines a seafood restaurant, raw bar, and market all under one roof. The restaurant features creative Southern dishes with a focus on coastal seafood, complemented by a full cocktail bar. Meanwhile, the market provides an opportunity for customers to purchase fresh Gulf fish and shellfish to enjoy at home.
Exceptionally delicious every dang time! Just another Austin staple that everyone should try at least 10-20 times. My family and I love going here! We always talk about how good the food is. This restaurant is one of the best seafood places in Austin and that says a-lot for us ATX food snobs. Highly recommended! 👍🏼👍🏼❤️

Wow. What a hidden gem in Hyde Park. Everything was fresh, fast, and unique. I had the buttered Gulf crab fingers which were decadent. Then a few East Coast oysters as I couldn't resist and they were perfectly shucked and fresh. The Ahi Tuna was perfectly seared and delicious and the pannacota with strawberries was a refreshing dessert. The service was attentive without hovering and the vibe is on point. Highly recommend.
Eric D — Google review
We celebrated our 5th wedding anniversary at Mongers last night. We tried six different items on the menu. All were perfectly cooked, tasted exquisite, and were beautifully presented. We tried both of the soups on the menu. Of the two, we liked the Seafood Chowder best. The other choice was a Crab and Shrimp Gumbo. Generous different kinds of seafood in each dish. We also had the Blue Crab Cake and Burrata dishes. The latter did not have tomatoes with the cheese, which it is traditionally paired with, instead arugula and a fig marmalade accompanied it. The crab cake was stuffed with crab and very little filler (which is the mark of a good cake). Served with a smoked tomato aioli. Finally, we sampled the daily crudo (tuna) and daily ceviche (scallops). They were the stars of the meal. Both so delicate and presented wonderfully, but also they tasted the best. Service was excellent, attentive but not overwhelming. Paired dinner with a French Sauvignon Blanc. We were treated to dessert to celebrate. A nice touch to an amazing meal. Thank you!

3.5 stars! Mongers came as a recommendation and we thought we'd give it a shot. We had no reservations when we walked in but the FOH was able to get us a seat at the bar. Ambiance: Mongers' interior feels like a moody speakeasy, if it weren't for the large flat screen TVs showing sports and the fact that it smelled like if a wet fish market and an old wooden cabin that has been abandoned for exactly 25 years had a baby. Service: The bartenders were friendly but swamped. They were fantastic and did their absolute best however, and they were definitely what made our overall experience better. Food & Drinks: * 6 pieces of oyster - These were alright. Nothing stood out and while it didn't taste very fresh, it didn't taste old either. I do wish we were told as to what types of oysters we were served. Instead, we were just told that the oysters were paired and each 2 oysters were different types. We generally prefer going to Salt Traders if we have a hankering for oysters and after going to Mongers, Salt Traders has established itself as a better seafood restaurant, from our perspective. * Seasonal soft shell crab with Thai basil sauce - This was delicious. The crab was perfectly fried and the sauce was well-balanced. I did wish we had more sauce but, overall, this was a great dish. * Cioppino - My husband always gets cioppino at Salt Traders so it felt right that he ordered the cioppino at Mongers as well. They are very close in ranking but Salt Traders still wins this one as their cioppino has deeper & more layered flavors. * Swordfish - The cheddar poblano grit cake was exceptional and was easily the star of this dish. It paired really well with the perfectly cooked swordfish. * Whiskey sour - Delicious but the alcohol was weak. The bartender did ask me if I had a preferred whiskey but it feels like maybe he heard me say I didn't want any whiskey in my whiskey sour because the whiskey was nowhere to be tasted. My partner got a glass of chimay beer. Final thoughts: Personally, while Mongers was good, it just pales in comparison to Salt Traders in my humble opinion. Salt Traders’ ambiance is cleaner, the food is just better and to top it all off, it's also a tad bit less costly. We likely would never go back to Mongers unless our car broke down, we're hungry and all the other restaurants in a 2 mile radius are closed.

Beautiful atmosphere, definitely a place you’d want to dress up a little bit for. Dimly lit fine dining with a coastal theme. The food was exceptionally well done. Very eclectic ideas that only a chef would come up with. Lots of daily specials, as well deserts. The Fuji apples on my scallops were awesome! Service was also top notch. Would definitely recommend the place for a good first impression on a date!

Mongers is an awesome hidden gem, the oysters are fabulous and the staff is super friendly. We went late in the evening on a weekday and they were so accommodating. I can't wait to go back again!
Roberto S — Google review
I came because Google said they have the best calamari in town. When I arrived I discovered that they don't offer calamari as an appetizer or entree. They do have it as a salad topper. The manager was quite nice and said they could make it up as an appetizer. The atmosphere and decor was very nice. The twinkle lights mixed in with driftwood and sea shells was an interesting focal point. The metal chairs were a tad uncomfortable, but served the purpose of keeping diners from lingering too long. The bartender made a poor choice to bring our food without napkins or silverware. For only having 3 tables and 2 people at the bar, they seemed pretty overwhelmed at 1:00 o'clock. The music was great and not too loud. They have a full bar and a lovely wine list. The fish monger was very knowledgeable and a great resource for helping us to select the best fish today. I might come back, but ask for a booth to avoid the metal chairs.

The food is great. The atmosphere is great. The service is great. I just had a wonderful late lunch at Mongers. It was my first time there, so aside from my perusing reviews, had no idea of how it would be. But was excited to try it. They did NOT disappoint. First, the auntie I was lunching with has a lot of food restrictions. She called ahead and made sure the chef could accommodate her. Yes. Yes they could and yes they did. My auntie and I had the same thing - fish tacos. Mine was straight from the menu and SO GOOD. The fish was fresh and batter fried perfectly. All of the flavors were well balanced. A little heat - but not too much, a little pickle, but not too much, crunch and chew textures were just right. My auntie asked for her fish to be steamed - and they did, without hesitation. Both of us devoured our plates. The waitstaff were superb. Attentive, but not too much. Very friendly. The place is small and elegant inside. It feels kind of swanky, but in the best way. Oh and I don't know if it's the same when it's really busy, but I really liked that I could have an actual conversation without yelling. I'm writing this review because Mongers deserves as much praise as a restaurant can get. But also, it was Saturday afternoon, and there was only one other table filled. This place should be busy all day.

With its quirky surroundings and family-friendly atmosphere, Deckhand Oyster Bar aims to provide moderately priced seafood while ensuring a relaxed dining experience for all patrons.
Love coming to new places that are great in every way. My wife and I were encouraged by friends to come here, and from the first bite of the shrimp satay, we knew this was a winner. As soon as we took that bite, we knew this was going to be a great meal. We couldn't have asked for a better experience. HIGHLY recommend the shrimp satay as a starter.

First time visiting and service was cool the environment was nice, happy people enjoying food. In my opinion the food was a NO GO! Everything I ordered was unseasoned, no touch of soul was added at any point. Oyster’s was decent I give it a 5 . My waitress was kind and helpful. Don’t recommend if you like, love seasoned food

Deckhand Oyster Bar is a must-visit for fresh, flavorful seafood in Austin! The service is super friendly and welcoming, which made our experience even better. We ordered the huge raw oysters plate—fresh and perfectly chilled—along with a rich cup of seafood gumbo, steamed shrimp, crispy calamari, and golden hush puppies. Everything was delicious! Surprisingly, the buffalo bone-in wings were a standout too—packed with flavor and just the right amount of heat. Great food, great vibe—we’ll definitely be back!

If you've never had Deckhands you in for a true treat. Food portions are large which is a win in my book. But the flavors of literally EVERYTHING on the menu are Freaking FANTASTIC! The fried platters are always cooked perfectly and have a true unique flavor. Their Asian infusion throughout the options standout in the best of ways! Ive tried multiple plates and have yet to have a single bad bite across the options. I could eat here once a week and never get burned out! *I've been to both locations but the one on South Lamar has changed owners and the name is now Ocean Blue. So you're best bet is the Deckhands up north off Louis Henna.

Sat outside even though it was a bit hot. The waitress told us it was quite noisy inside. Service was pretty good. The food was tasty and the ice tea was plentiful. Caution if ordering the fried rice: The portion is enormous. You'd best be hungry or have 2-3 friends to share.

I really love the papaya salad here, so every time I visit Austin, I make sure to stop by this restaurant. The oysters are very fresh, and the crawfish tastes great as well. I visited around late March, so the crawfish were still small. I highly recommend coming during the peak seafood season for the best experience.

Great food. Friendly staff. Vast menu. Service friendly and delivery was quick. Clean inside and out, with seating inside and out as well. Big bar with loads of drink options. Seafood galore. Fine Oysters and delicious shrimp. Definitely worth the trip.

Hands down the best Pad Thai I've ever eaten. And I've eaten that at many places. Balancing sweetness with spice is a difficult thing to do. Deckhand does it just right. The crawfish had a distinctive asian flavor. Come to find, the owners are Korean. Very flavorful.

New American restaurant
Foreign & Domestic offers a vibrant dining experience with a mix of American-European cuisine and an extensive selection of wine and craft beer. The restaurant is known for its popular brunch service, featuring dishes like succulent Berkshire pork over golden Barton Springs Mill grits and marinated fried chicken with espresso-infused red eye gravy. The menu also includes unique items such as cardamom-infused cinnamon rolls and fluffy pancakes made from a special recipe.
Incredible restaurant! We had a wonderful brunch there. I really like their menu and the selection of brunch dishes to choose from. We ordered the Ham & Gruyere Croque Madame and the Brunch Burger. Both dishes were delicious and very satisfying. The Croque Madame was served with fried potatoes and an arugula salad, and it was absolutely delicious. The burger was juicy and well-cooked. We also tried their homemade ice cream—one strawberry and the other basil—and they paired really well together. The service was exceptional. Our server was very attentive and made sure we had a fantastic brunch. I definitely recommend this restaurant!

What a cute spot! First time here as I passed through Austin this was the restaurant I made a reservation at. The food and wine were great, portions were satisfying, the chairs could have been more comfy, some tables are just sitting on and leaning against wood which my back didn't love after traveling all day. The only complaint I have is the line cooks chose to clean the grills while guests were still present which filled the room with an overwhelming cloud of smoke and aroma that agitated our senses. Would recommend and would come back!
Sami M — Google review
Solid overall. Nice neighborhood spot that wish I had in my area! Food was great but a few slight misses. Pop overs were a bit in the dense side and our duck fat potatoes were under seasoned and didn’t taste much of duck fat. Pasta was solid, gnocchi was incredibly delicate and flavorful. Enjoyed our time there and ready to visit again.

Based on my one visit, this place seems to offer top quality dishes. I went for their $1 oysters happy hour on Tuesday- totally worth it!! & also tried a special dish they had that week. I never thought pork and pasta were a match it definitely shocked my taste buds, in the best way. Reservations are recommended specially for happy hour.

The food here was exceptional, with interesting choices that you don't normally see. The staff was extremely knowledgeable and very friendly and made the dinner quite enjoyable. The popovers are a must have. I enjoyed the pork clod. A healthy portion of protein with a cabbage wrap that had excellent chili oil, mustard and a ginger chive oil.

We went on a Saturday for brunch and were stunned there was seating and we didn't need a reservation. The host and our waiter were absolutely amazing and were all smiles. The food was pretty darn good. We got the pancakes, a cinnamon roll to share and the Croque Madame. Everything was fantastic with the exception of the Croque Madame. The insides were severely lacking any filling. It was mostly just bread. Regardless, the rest of the meal was still great and that one issue wont stop me from returning and trying it again.
Joe B — Google review
If you don't eat here you are doing yourself a disservice. From the outside, I would never have guessed I would have the quality of food and atmosphere we did. I have had meals at Michelin star restaurants that were not nearly as good, and I have had domino's orders that cost more. Do your self a favor and get a counter seat and immerse your self with the amazing staff. The chefs and wait staff were amazing, offered suggestions, and even went as far as offering recommendations for other eateries and experiences for our trip in Austin. The tasting menu was superb even for someone who's a picky eater trying to be adventurous. The popover and fingerling potatoes were spectacular. I love all things cheesecake and almost skipped the juniper cheesecake thinking I might not like it. Never been more happy to take a leap for the most exquisite desert. Do yourself a favor and make the reservation.
Joshua C — Google review
Foreign & Domestic has a tight, focused vibe and a menu that refuses to phone it in. Everything feels intentional. The dishes are creative without being weird-for-the-sake-of-weird, and the execution is strong. Apps and mains are dialed in, clearly handled by a kitchen that knows what it's doing. If you're bored of the usual farm-to-table shtick around town, this place actually earns the “unique menu” praise. That said, the drink situation is a letdown. Beer and wine only. If you want something beyond a glass of red or white, you're out of luck. Space is small, so expect tight quarters and some noise. They handle it well, but don't come here thinking you're getting a quiet date-night cocoon. It’s cozy, not serene. Service is friendly and on-point. Staff know the menu, move efficiently, and don’t make you feel rushed. Bonus points: you might get an impromptu Shakespeare warm-up before dinner if you’re lucky. Austin gonna Austin. Bottom line: excellent food, inventive menu, great people, weak drink program. Go for the food, accept the noise, and pre-game your cocktail somewhere else.

Hillside Farmacy, located in a historic building in East Austin, is an antique-chic eatery that offers thoughtfully sourced eclectic fare and also operates as a specialty grocery store. The restaurant's location has a rich history, once serving as a neighborhood drugstore dating back to the 1920s.
I was pleasantly surprised by Hillside Farmacy. Cute and kitschy vibe and with great food to match. You cannot beat the Sunday $25 steak dinner special. Not only did I receive a huge portion of steak, but it was perfectly cooked and seasoned. I practically licked my plate clean. Service was spectacular and attentive. Revisiting an old favorite. Not do much anymore. Why? Service: I came for brunch at around 2;40 pm. The waitress took her sweet time to get to me. Nice lady but not in a hurry. Aftercshe dropped my plate, she disappeared. After waiting a while, I had to ask the manager for mustard. She showed only to drop the check. They had the gall to suggest 20% tip. Food: Very disappointing. I ordered the Benny plate. Muffins were tiny. Poached eggs overcooked. Chipotle Hollandaise bland an obviously some commercial mixture. Sticky to the palate. Ugh! Potatoes were cut too big, barely hot, and not crispy. Floury on the inside. Probably sitting under the class heat lamps for too long. The Espresso for my affogato was presented in a shot glass and I spilled part on it on my table. They should have a proper vessel for that. Coffee ok but not special. Atmosphere: like I remembered, just older by a few years. See pictures. They could use a fresh coat of paint in spots. Overall, a not so good experience. Too bad. In their heyday, they were one of my favorites. No more. Oh well! Chef Alain Braux

Nestled along Mopac Expressway, Salt Traders Coastal Cooking invites seafood lovers to indulge in a delightful array of dishes inspired by coastal adventures. This charming eatery captures the essence of seaside dining with its laid-back atmosphere and an extensive menu that features everything from succulent lobster rolls and fish tacos to fresh oysters and shrimp. Drawing inspiration from various coastlines, including the Gulf, East Coast, and even The Bahamas, each dish is crafted using sustainably sourced seafood from reputable providers.
Our first time at the restaurant! Love the modern coastal decor. We were immediately seated for Saturday brunch without a reservation. The food was cooked to perfection. The staff was attentive especially Kenny with his Ernest Hemingway description of the items on the menu. We loved his description so much that we ordered everything he recommended. We definitely will return. It is a lighter healthier faire type of menu and we truly enjoyed the food and the atmosphere!

I ordered the clam chowder and lobster and shrimp roll with fries and it was really good and filling! I went with co workers who tried the shrimp bowl, biria fish tacos and another fish fillet dish. All of the food looked amazing and my co workers said the same! The waiter was very knowledgeable about the dishes and desserts. The green and white candy taste like key lime pie so grab a bunch!!! No sweet tea only really good homemade lemonade!!

Monday night dinner and we were seated immediately. Very nice uncluttered decor but elegant and comfortable at the same time. We saw some folks dressed in shorts and some folks dressed in suit and tie. Our waiter Skyler was friendly, knowledgeable and had our first drinks to the table while we perused the menu. Without asking a two bite appetizer was delivered to our table. I think it was 2 kettle chips with a dab of smoked fish dip. Yummy. We ordered grilled oysters and a house salad for our appetizers. The oysters had a great flavor and the salad had a nice balance of fresh, sweet and acidic. We wanted some bread to pair with our salad but we didn't want a whole basket so Skyler brought us a plate with 2 slices of Focaccia bread. Perfect. Skyler also suggest wines to pair with our dinners that was spot on. I had the wood fired salmon and my wife had the special shrimp and scallops dish. Both dishes were wonderful and tasty. Thanks. We will be back.

I had an overall good dining experience at this Salt Traders Costal Cooking. The prices are a little steep, but the food presentation and atmosphere is really nice. I ordered the the wood fired salmon, which was ok - not my favorite, however the accompanying items (potato salad and asparagus) were divine!!!! The coconut mousse desert was so delicious and light - I would highly recommend it! The service was also wonderful - staff were extremely friendly and attentive!

Salt Traders is an upscale / non traditional seafood restaurant owned by the folks behind Jack Allen's Kitchen. Dishes are comparatively small, but extraordinary in presentation and quality. You should get one (or more appetizers), even if you normally don't at other restaurants. They have rotating chef-created specials, and I highly recommend whatever is on the menu for the day. What stood out is that all dishes we tried are perfectly seasoned, with unique flavors and textures that elevate the dishes above expectations!

Soooo good!!! I am visiting and this place came highly recommended. We got the bbq shrimp and blackened fish sandwich. It was delightful. So flavorful. Very well seasoned. Our server was so sweet.
L. I — Google review
Great atmosphere and service. They brought out a complimentary sample of the fish dip and house-made chips to start us off. The dip was perfectly smoky and salty, not overwhelmingly “fishy” at all. And the house made chips were incredible! Crispy, salty, seasoned just right. Hubby ordered oysters as an appetizer and said they were great. I’ll have to take his word for it ‘cause, you know, “fool me once…” LOL For entrees, we ordered the fried shrimp & fish platter that came with homemade French fries and also ordered the scallops & risotto. Honestly, the fish & shrimp were perfectly coated and not overcooked at all. The breading was just crispy enough to compliment the tenderness of the shrimp and fish. The fries were skin-on traditional style with a touch of sea salt. As for the scallops and risotto, I have to say that I felt the basil parmesean risotto and arugula overpowered the scallops. While the scallops were perfectly seared, their sweetness was only uncovered if you ate them by themselves. I think the underlying basil flavor is what made this dish less than perfect for my taste. The bitterness of the arugula was also a bit of a distraction to the pallet, so I just pick it out and pushed it to the side. If I were to order it again, I would ask if the risotto could be prepared without the basil and would ask the cook to leave off the arugula. Overall, it was a very nice meal, and the next time we drive through Round Rock and are in the mood for seafood, we’ll give it another visit.

Lucy's Fried Chicken is a popular spot in Austin, known for its upscale take on Southern comfort food. The restaurant is housed in a refurbished old building and features oversized patios with great views of Lake Travis. With multiple locations across the city, Lucy's has been serving up Southern-fried favorites for over ten years. Guests can enjoy made-from-scratch sides and fresh cocktails, including their signature Front Porch Tea.
We had Lucy’s Fried Chicken cater our wedding, and we couldn’t have been happier with our choice! The food was absolutely delicious—so many of our guests told us it was the best wedding food they’ve ever had. The fried chicken, sides, and everything else were cooked to perfection. The service was also top-notch. The staff was incredibly accommodating and friendly, making sure everything went smoothly. They took care of the chair setup for the ceremony and the table settings, and it exceeded my expectations. They truly helped make our day memorable, and we’re so grateful for their hard work. We highly recommend Lucy’s Fried Chicken for any event!

I was super excited to come try this place. We started w/the oysters and the fried deviled eggs. They were okay. My husband ordered the chicken sandwich and he said it was okay, but not the best he’s had. My daughter ordered the Chicken Caesar salad and really enjoyed it. Her boyfriend ordered the chicken fried steak and l loved it. I had the chicken tenders and waffles. Personally for me the chicken lacked flavor and the waffles were pretty hard and dry, despite a beautiful presentation. We also ordered the S’Mores pie and banana pudding. The chocolate s’mores was way too sweet and rich for my taste, but my daughter and her boyfriend liked it. My hubby and I shared the banana pudding, it looked amazing and delicious, but it had no sweet taste at all. So one was too sweet and one lacked flavor. The overall atmosphere is nostalgic and tucked away from the busy street. Our server was excellent.

If you are ever in south Austin, stop in and eat at Lucy's Fried Chicken. It has a laid-back atmosphere and delicious food. We tried the deep-fried deviled eggs, chicken and waffles, and the drunk catfish sandwich. All were excellent choices. The catfish filet on the sandwich was enough for two sandwiches. It was seasoned perfectly and fried crisp. Chicken and waffles were a hit with delicious tenders and two great-tasting waffles with honey butter.

Multiple items on the menu are amazing. I’ve come here a bunch of times before, but never left a review. Today I ordered the Kinky Club and I absolutely loved it. It’s a large sandwich with a side of kettle chips, which I switched for fries. I could only eat about half of the food, but I’m looking forward to finishing it up tomorrow for lunch.

This was our first timehere and Lucy's did not disappoint. I ordered the chicken and waffles and they were delicious. The waffles were the perfect amount of chewy and crunchy. The chicken was very flavorful. My other only wish is that I had some real maple syrup to go along with this culinary delight. Instead I received a packet of syrup sauce. I ate my waffles dry after my first bite with the sauce was disappointing. Still the meal was good. The cocktails were great and the service was awesome.

Order -Bucket of Chicken (3 out of 5) - chicken sandwich ( 5 out of 5) - onion rings ( 3 out 5 ) salty - fries (4 out 5) - cornbread ( 4.5 out 5) Service was good only the server dropped tea on me and did not apologize but besides that it was good. The bathroom was discussing pee everywhere and was nasty, making me want to throw up after eating there. The restaurant outside smells bad and needs to be cleaned, I guess for Austin is ok standards-wise, would I go back probably not. Even though they had a good pecan pie.

We've been regulars at Lucy's for years now, it has never disappointed. If anything, it has gotten better. First of all, the chicken is phenomenal. The crust is just the right amount of crispy. We always get a bucket even if it is just the two of us. Cold or warmed up leftovers is just fine for us. We are true aficionados of the finest fried chicken. Now, that is just the beginning. Where Lucy's truly excels is in the side offerings. Of course they have a wonderful fried okra, but it's even better when it is paired with the coleslaw. Lastly, if you have any room left for dessert? Just do it. Remember, you can always take it home if you can't finish. Either way, you win!

Lucy’s catering did a phenomenal job at our October 2024 wedding!!! They handled all the setup and breakdown and did everything perfectly and with efficiency. Not to mention they are very competitively priced versus other full service caterers in the Austin area. Cristina was so sweet and easy to work with leading up to our day! She was extremely communicative and patient even when I had a million questions/ menu changes. Most importantly - the food was absolutely spectacular. People still make a point to tell us how amazing the food was and multiple professional chefs who were our guests told me it was “the best wedding food they’ve ever had.” The grilled vegetables were a stand out as well! My husband and I are both foodies but still wanted to honor our Texas roots at our wedding. They helped us craft a menu that was both upscale and true to us. Going to oyster bars and attending oyster tastings was a big part of our dating life and we really wanted to incorporate that at our wedding - which is ultimately why we went with Lucy’s. We had the raw oyster bar for cocktail hour and our guests adored it and we also heard multiple compliments about the shucker on staff. 10/10 highly recommend Lucy’s for your wedding or event!

If you're looking for fresh, sustainable seafood in a casual setting, Shore Raw Bar & Grill is the perfect stop. The light menu includes tacos and sandwiches, but the real attraction is the extensive menu of expertly prepared seafood.
First time visiting this restaurant and I had the soup and salad. The server made a recommendation and told me to get etoufee over the seafood gumbo. Luckily, I did. My partner had the gumbo and I didn't care for it. He said the shrimp po boy was excellent and he liked the gumbo. It was a bit too salty for me. Overall, I would definitely come back for their lunch.

My wife and I took a quick trip to Austin and she wanted some seafood. This place had the best ratings in the immediate area around our hotel. Our drinks and the king crab appetizer were delicious. She had the lobster and I had the halibut with mussels. The halibut was mentioned in many reviews, so I thought I'd give it a try. It was oversauced making it difficult to taste the underlying ingredients, so that was a little disappointing. It's a bit pricey for what you get, but not overly so. Would probably go again when on the west side of Austin, but will likely try some of their simpler, and less costly, dishes.

The restaurant has a great atmosphere with live music. I’ve been twice and really enjoyed both visits. The service was very good, especially the second time when our server was extremely kind and attentive. I went during happy hour, which was excellent, and our waitress made sure to bring our food and drinks quickly so we could take full advantage. Both times I ordered the Blue Crab Fingers — absolutely spectacular and served with grilled ciabatta that’s just delicious. The ceviche is also excellent, very fresh and flavorful, with freshly made tostadas that are amazing. The calamari is very good as well, and so are the oysters. The margaritas are decent, though they could be a bit better. The live music adds a really nice touch to the whole experience.

I ate there yesterday and received great service and even better food!! We got the crab and fish rolls and they were incredibly!!! Tasted amazing and looked so delicious!! Would definitely recommend going!!

Everything was flavorful and delicious! We got lobster mozzarella bites for $8 from the happy hour menu (4 pieces), the trio lobster rolls and a burger. The lobster rolls and burger come with a side - we got a caeser salad and chips. The salad was very good, the chips were ordinary chips. Everything was amazing. So amazing we ordered a regular size lobster roll after we were done with the trio! The Connecticut roll was our favorite. We are coming back! Service was also great and quick! I definitely recommend this place.

Garbo’s is a must if you want incredible food, lovely atmosphere, and attentive service. The food is fresh, delicious, and offers a unique selection of dishes. Do yourself a favor and stop in for the fish burrito. It is hands down one of the best burritos Austin has to offer. Elaine served us tonight and she was kind, knowledgeable, and very attentive to my food allergy. Service was fast, portions were large, and it was very family friendly. We will definitely be back!!

First time being there and from the start until the end the service was nothing short from excellent. The woman in the front greeted us with a genuine smile and was very attentive to our needs. Our server was very knowledgeable, gave us prompt service, and checked on us without overwhelming us and also making sure he stayed on top of his services. My husband ordered mahi burrito which was surprisingly delicious with a side of fries. I ordered the blackened cod fish sandwich with the side of Cesar salad. I loved how the fish did not taste very fishy and it was good quality .

Garbo’s is a solid spot for seafood! We tried the Tuesday fish and chips special, and it was a good deal for the portion. The fried fish had a super crispy batter with a nice beer flavor, but the fish itself could use a little more seasoning. The tartar sauce wasn’t my favorite—it lacked acidity and pickle flavor, which didn’t help balance the fish. The fries, though? Really good. I also think they should throw in a few more lemon slices. The spicy crab roll was awesome! The combo of gouda, bacon, and crab worked really well, though it wasn’t actually spicy. My only issue was the aioli—there was a bit too much, and by the time I got to the bottom of the roll, it was just bread soaked in sauce. But the side salad is absolutely amazing. The cherry tomatoes were so sweet and flavorful, just like HEB’s Flavor Bomb tomatoes. Overall, Garbo’s is a great place. The crab roll is delicious enough that I’m definitely coming back to try their lobster roll for that extra indulgence!

Their atmosphere deserves an award: salty and maritime yet remarkably hip and chic. Rarely (if ever) do you see a place pull that off. Prices are tough, but that’s standard fare for lobster rolls. The portion wasn’t great at the price point, but I still recommend highly! Staff is wonderful and the place is really inviting.

Happy that I stopped by….Another visit to Austin for work, staff was very friendly and helpful with my selections. The lobster roll was very tasty & I loved the jalapeño coleslaw.🥰❣️

Perfectly prepared lobster. Great service. The price and the location are interesting… I just want to feel a little more luxurious at the price point being charged. I can go right down the street to Clark’s for comparable prices and selection (maybe a lil more but they are not far off each other) but you get full amazing service there. This feels like it is trying for what Birdie’s nails. I just wish I had full service or felt like the flow of service hit at a high level. If this was like $5 cheaper for my lobster I think it would have nailed the experience and price. The loud high volume nonstop traffic was very much present. *they do not have the bisque at this location* It just didn’t feel like the “fine dining” price tag it carries.

The food and service here is top notch! We shared the tuna tartare and crab cake appetizers. Both were fresh and delicious. My entree was the Chilean sea bass. So light and delicate with a broth so tasty I wanted to drink it! My family ordered steaks, the mashed potatoes and crab fried rice. Our server was friendly, funny and attentive. Highly recommend!

From the moment we arrived, the experience at Eddie V’s was nothing short of exceptional. My husband planned a special evening for my 34th birthday, and thanks to the incredible team here, it turned out to be absolutely brilliant. The service was flawless—attentive without being intrusive, warm, and genuinely caring. Every detail was clearly thought through, from the personalized touches to the seamless flow of the evening. And the food… wow. Every dish was beautifully presented and bursting with flavor. What truly stood out was the attention to detail. How they remembered our names, timed everything just right, it all added up to an experience that felt both luxurious and deeply personal. This wasn’t just a dinner—it was a memory made. I’m so grateful to the entire team at Eddie V’s for making my birthday celebration so special. We will definitely be back—and recommending this gem to everyone we know! Kyle was our server and he was amazing!!!!

We had an amazing experience at Eddie V’s on Saturday! Our group of eight sat in the bar area, and from start to finish, everything was outstanding. The food was absolutely fantastic—perfectly prepared and delicious—but what really set the evening apart was the exceptional service. It was, without a doubt, some of the best I’ve received in Austin. Our server, Miguel, was incredibly attentive, friendly, and made sure every detail was just right. To top it all off, the live music by Kenny Williams was phenomenal. He created the perfect vibe for the night and truly elevated the entire dining experience. Eddie V’s delivered on every level—great food, amazing service, and unforgettable music. Easily one of the best dining experiences I’ve had in Austin!

5 stars all around! We came here to celebrate our 3rd wedding anniversary. The food was so good, every bite was delicious and all the flavors were so well balanced and thoughtful. On top of the food being amazing, our server Gianna was an absolute gem! She was very knowledgeable about the menu including food and drinks, and her personality was charming and bubbly. If you need a good place to splurge, you will not be disappointed coming here.

Held my birthday dinner here. Booking the space and selecting the preselect menu was super easy thanks to Jo. The room and table placement was perfect for my party of 18. I loved that I was able to see and talked to all my guest without having to move from my spot. The old fashions were tasty and the food was exceptional. Thank you to our servers Matthew and another gentleman for the excellent service and attention. Definitely a top tier experience!

Outstanding Experience Every Time! I visited Eddie V’s Prime Seafood several times over the weekend, and the service was absolutely impeccable every single time. The staff were attentive, friendly, and professional — truly top-notch. The live music created such a warm, upscale atmosphere, and the wine selection was fantastic. Every visit felt special, and the bartender deserves a shout-out — excellent drinks, great sense of humor, and just the right personal touch that makes you want to stay all night. Eddie V’s never disappoints — consistently amazing food, music, and vibes. Can’t wait to come back again soon!

Absolutely delicious. The oysters were fresh with no grit, the sashimi perfectly seasoned. The filet mignon was smooth, buttery, and light. The Hope Diamond cocktail packed a uniquely flavorful punch, which was greatly appreciated. Lovely environment, smooth jazz enveloped the room as diners enjoyed their courses.

We had a fantastic meal here on our last night in Austin, we went straight in for mains as we don't have the biggest appetites - my wife had the halibut special and I had the Ahi tuna, both were amazing and so were the sides. The service was brilliant and we got a complimentary mixed desert. We walked in with no reservation and got seated straight away, but we did arrive after the peak time. We highly recommend eating here if you're in town.

Shoal Creek Saloon is a lively Cajun bar and grill in Austin, Texas, offering a vibrant atmosphere with spirited football fans. The restaurant's outdoor patio overlooks Shoal Creek, providing a peaceful and quaint setting away from the city. Their chicken fried steak topped with homemade chili and crispy french fries is a must-try, cooked to perfection with flavorful batter. Additionally, they serve perfectly boiled crawfish daily from 11AM to 10PM.
Never disappoint, even after five years later returning from out of state. Brittany N. at the bar was amazing and super Texas Friendly. My catfish meal was to die for, even better after all these years. Dr. K. King

It was a busy day apparently. We were unsure where to sit or if we could seat ourselves. We finally sat ourselves. We had to wait a little bit to get service, but the server was apologetic and kind. The food was worth the wait! My son LOVES crawfish. He got 2lbs of it and ate every one! The atmosphere is probably the second best part. It was a beautiful day in March and we enjoyed the outdoor eating.

We visited Austin from San Antonio for an errand and didn't want to deal with paying for parking or dealing with reservations etc. Found Shoal Creek on accident and was pleasantly surprised with the vibes and laid back feel. Found parking right up front and staff was friendly. Able to watch the Astros rout the Braves while having a decent Cajun meal. Glad to still find a nice Texas gen in the center of the city.

Great service clean atmosphere tvs at tables the nachos were crispy and gooey cheese 🧀 beans were evenly distributed jalapeño needed more spice in my opinion, the chicken fried steak was on the dry side and lacked flavor , I’d go back to try their famous catfish

Shoal Creek Saloon: Cajun Chaos and Crawfish Perfection Stepping into Shoal Creek Saloon on South Lamar feels like stumbling into a Cajun fever dream—smack in downtown Austin, with the namesake creek winking at you from the patio like a tipsy uncle. This place is a vibe, but if you’re expecting McDonald’s speed during peak hours, you’re dreaming harder than a Cowboys fan trying to get to the Super Bowl. Owner Ray Canfield’s all about cooking to order, so settle in with a cold one and let the good times roll—laissez les bons temps rouler, y’all! Crawfish season here is a religious experience. I ordered boiled crawfish, and they hit the table faster than you can say “Who Dat?”—hot, fresh, and seasoned like a love letter to my Cajun roots. None of that greasy garlic nonsense or over-dusted mudbugs you find elsewhere; these were straight-from-the-Atchafalaya-Basin simple, the kind of perfect boil I’d fight a gator for. The fried crawfish boudin balls? Crispy, spicy pillows of joy that could make a grown man cry. And the Gulf oysters? Plump, briny gems that outshined every coastal shack I hit this year. The burgers and seafood never disappoint—always solid, like a trusty pickup truck. But fair warning: if you’re allergic to New Orleans Saints SWAG, you might clutch your pearls. The place is draped in black-and-gold pride, and I swear the jukebox plays “Sweet Caroline” with a Cajun accent. Don’t let it spook you—Ray’s built a joint where everyone’s welcome to get their Cajun on. The patio’s a gem, with Shoal Creek murmuring nearby, adding quirky charm to the chaos. Service can mosey when it’s slammed, but the baristas—er, bartenders—keep the vibes high. Pro tip: come for the crawfish, stay for the people-watching. This ain’t just a saloon; it’s a Texas-sized slice of Louisiana soul.

The part I set at reminded you of a saloon. They also had a sideroom plus a outdoor patio. The food was good and our waitress. I loved her honesty.

My husband chose to eat here for his birthday. He enjoyed the crawfish, and I loved their tenders. My daughter struggled to find something soft to eat as she'd just had oral surgery. Our server, while she did a good job, she never smiled and seemed uninterested in general. The front parking is difficult if you are not an experienced driver. Overall, I wish that he would have picked somewhere else.

Pacific Star Restaurant & Oyster Bar is a seafood restaurant that features catfish, crawfish, and other Cajun & Tex-Mex seafood standards. The restaurant has an airy and casual interior making it ideal for family lunches and relaxed afternoons. Some of the delicacies available at Pacific Star Restaurant & Oyster Bar include the catfish nuggets, fried shrimp, and Gulf Coast oysters. The husband really enjoyed lunch and found the gumbo to be great!
Oh man, this is a hidden gem! There is road construction out front, but do not let that keep you from supporting this place. This is a local, family owned and operated restaurant. The service was incredible. The young woman, Leslie, that waited on my table was attentive and very friendly. The atmosphere here lets you step into a seaside fish tavern. It's rustic with an old charm . They do have music playing and a couple of TVs around the bar. That didn't bug me though. The food was delicious!! I would eat here 7 times a week if I could. I had the blackened snapper with some shrimp. I was surprised at how much flavor the snapper had. This is one of my top 7 best seafood places I've ever had. You need to eat here!

Cozy seafood restaurant between Anderson Mill and Lake Creek, off the 183N service road. Loved the vibe, and the tasty Shrimp Po' Boy. Sat at the bar with friendly customers, and staff, and I thoroughly enjoyed my meal! Thanks, Pacific Star!

Absolutely loved our experience at Pacific Star! The crawfish was out of this world—perfectly seasoned, juicy, and cooked just right. You can tell they know what they're doing when it comes to seafood. Every bite was flavorful and satisfying! What really made the visit extra special was the staff—friendly, fast, and genuinely welcoming. From the moment we walked in, they made us feel like regulars. You don’t always find great food and great service in the same place, but Pacific Star nails both. Can’t wait to come back—this spot is a seafood lover’s dream! 🦐🌟. PS. this is coming from a guy that doesn't like seafood.

Don H — Google review
Ordered food from here to-go. Virtually all of the dishes are completely bland and devoid of seasoning. The batter is the same used across most of their fried items and they were all bland. The garlic bread was good and the etouffe was decent. Literally everything else was bland and flavorless. I'm usually somewhat understanding and generous with reviews but I can't possibly recommend the food here. If I ever try it again and it turns out better I will revise my review but until then, there are plenty of better options in the area.

If you knew the history of this place, you would have a great understanding of where it came from and what they have accomplished. In respect to the owners, I won't say anything. I can tell you that I've been going to Pacific Star for around 30 years (from its original location) and it has always been a great place. Anyone who gave this place a one, two, or three star review, please don't come back. You're not wanted or needed. This place is an Austin historical site with great food and atmosphere. Is everything perfect? Nope. Neither are you. Listen to your mother. If you don't have anything nice to say don't say anything at all.
Scott W — Google review
If you're looking for fine dining this won't be the place for you, but if you like a place where you will be treated like a valued customer in a casual atmosphere this is the place for you. My wife and I have been eating here for decades. Our typical meal here these days consists of a dozen oysters, spicy catfish nuggets, crab cakes, and hush puppies, all eaten ala carte. Tall, ice cold, draft Dos Equis' work well to wash it all down. OR chose your own beverage. I've eaten almost everything on the menu and have never been disappointed. You will also find many other laid back patrons to banter with while eating. This place is old school Austin and a great place to chill out.

During our recent family dinner, we were pleasantly surprised by the ambiance of the restaurant. The establishment exuded a sophisticated and inviting atmosphere, conducive to engaging in meaningful conversations. The decor struck a harmonious blend of modern elegance and classic charm. The round booth tables were designed to provide both privacy and comfort, ensuring an intimate dining experience. The service was exceptional, characterized by its friendliness and professionalism. Notably, the restaurant offered an extensive menu, catering to a wide range of culinary preferences. However, we had a slight reservation about the fish dish we ordered. While the presentation was appealing, we found that the fish was excessively breaded and oily. The texture was inconsistent, with small pieces of genuine fish interspersed throughout. The family thoroughly enjoyed their seafood gumbo and tuna steak orders. We intend to revisit the establishment to explore other culinary offerings from their menu.

Food All the food that I had was great. The rum drink will creep up on you, but it is very smooth and delicious. Service Great service. After our orders were provided to the server, they gradually brought out my ceviche, salad, mussels, & lobster/shrimp papparadelle pasta. I'm not an oyster eating person, but even the cooked ones looked very tempting to try. Atmosphere I like where we were seated. It was a little more private and away from the main area. Very relaxing atmosphere. We went with a big group, but I can see how this can be a Date night/anniversary celebration place. Nice work everyone. 👏

Went in today with my boyfriend expecting nothing really, we just looked up oysters in the map and this was the first option that popped up and oh boy!. We are simply fascinated. Service: Our server Meghan was very warm, welcoming, helpful and friendly, she definitely added up to the experience, her expertise and professionalism are top notch. Now the food: We just wanted some oysters, we had never been here before, we were not that hungry, we just wanted a little treat, and Meghan told us that we were in perfect timing for happy hour so we’d be getting $1 off in all the oysters, even better!. They had a good variety of oysters, we ordered 2 of each to try them all out, there was only one of them that we didn’t like not because it was bad but it just didn’t taste like anything really, it’s the one called Little Prince if that helps. Now we were so delighted and greatly surprised with the other ones that we ordered 12 more, each!. We ended up eating 36 oysters! And we were about to order more just because they were that good but we were too full already!. My personal preference was the Gulf ones and Summertime and my boyfriend’s were the Conway ones (Still big shout out St Simon I think, 100/10) (I can’t remember the name of the other one lol but if was really good too!). The kettle chips were also a hit, they felt and taste fresh, like genuinely made in house. For dessert we tried the coconut pineapple mousse whatever it’s called, I liked it but I wouldn’t go crazy for it, my boyfriend loooved it so I’d say it’s just a matter of preferences, but great option for those who don’t like extremely sweet desserts. Issues: We didn’t have a single issue with our food at all or the service, everything was genuinely perfect. Check: Our check was $141 and some change for the 36 oysters, one beer, one mocktail, the kettle chips and the dessert. A little extra magic: They ask you for allergies as soon as you sit down, the pear mocktail is DELICIOUS and they have a little wall of spicy sauces you can pick from but their house one is honestly delicious! Overall: Definitely recommend!, I’d love to come back here every time. (Photo was taken halfway through our dozens, I apologize, we were too excited to take pictures hehe)

We went for dinner because I love seafood, and the fact that oysters were on happy hour made it even better! The vibe was a nice mix of casual and business, making it a great spot to relax and enjoy a good meal. There was no wait when we arrived before 6 PM, which was a nice bonus. Our waiter was incredibly attentive and friendly, making the experience even better. The oysters were so good that we had to order a second round! The prices were reasonable, and the food was absolutely delicious. Overall, a great spot for seafood lovers—I’d definitely go back!

Our server Lily was excellent, very knowledgeable and accommodating. Jeff ( the owner ) came by the table and was so personable, really made us feel welcome. The charbroiled oysters were very good. Those lemon garlic mussels were the BEST. The atomic shrimp caught me off guard, but if you like horseradish, you'll LOOOOVE that. I really liked the seafood tower. However, the redfish and shrimp ceviche was a little too salty for me. It wasn't that busy, but our waitress couldn't seem to check on us much. It was so hard to get her attention. Hopefully, she gets better at that.

We stopped in Austin for the last day of our Texas trip and passed by this restaurant to have lunch. I appreciate a pink haired waitress lady at this restaurant! So friendly and provided us with great service! Thank you so much! TLC restaurant were a lot of food choices and I thought it was overall pretty good, but it was a bit too salty and I would truly recommend less salt! I ordered the BKR sandwich, which I don't really recommend, no veggies and the meat was very salty. I also ordered the Texas chills soup which was also very salty. The pudding bread is pretty but was too sweet and I think it could have been done better, but if I come back to Austin next time, I'll be back!

If I had to just discuss the food, the review would be good. If I had to discuss the alcoholic beverages it would be so-so, but as a retired Sailor there is a different perspective. If I had to just discuss service I would never come back. “Perspective is reality” and I felt the responses to common legitimate menu questions should not be met with perceived sarcasm and flippant responses. Then as I politely sit not wanting to dim the experience of my group of 8 friends and family, I could only think this is “NOT the place for me!” Server was Garrett G. Table was #106

Plank Seafood Provisions is a trendy and vibrant restaurant located at The Domain in Austin, Texas. It offers thoughtfully sourced seafood, an oyster bar, and creative cocktails. The coastally-inspired eatery serves briny salt-water snacks, wood fire grilled provisions, and features an unforgettable happy hour. Customers have praised the nice decor and upper-end casual atmosphere of the restaurant.
We had a lovely dinner here, a nice restaurant with outstanding service. My husband and I enjoyed the pleasant ambiance and truly appreciated the professionalism and kindness of the staff. The golden beet salad was delicious, and the fish tacos were very good. I was lucky enough to get the last trout available for the evening. While it was a bit too salty for my taste, I still enjoyed it because it was cooked perfectly, with a beautifully crisp crust and tender texture. I look forward to returning and will definitely order the trout again — next time, I’ll simply request the salt on the side so I can season it myself.

This is a unique situation where the food is really good, but the service leaves much to be desired. Our server kept rushing us to pack up our food and she was not very friendly, in fact, quite pushy. It was so bothersome that I might look to another restaurant in the area (like Salt Traders or Jack Allen’s). The food on the other hand was excellent. We got the calamari and shrimp toast, which were tasty. I recommend the Shrimp Pasta and the Bacon-wrapped Shrimp. It was filling, a good portion size, and the pasta has just the right amount of kick. Overall, a bit pricey, but reasonable. It’s a real shame that the service is so poor that I likely won’t be returning.

We ordered a couple of drinks and started with oysters and calamari. The oysters were absolutely delicious, but I was very disappointed with the portion size of the calamari. Calamari is one of my favorite appetizers, and I order it almost everywhere it’s offered. This was the smallest portion I’ve ever seen, and to make it worse, nearly half of it was filled with vegetables like green onions and green peppers instead of calamari. That being said, we do plan on coming back for their happy hour oysters since those were fantastic. For the main course, we had the blackened catfish with dirty rice and the blackened chicken linguine—both were incredibly flavorful and so good! Overall, the experience was great, but the calamari portion size was a real disappointment.

I mentioned to the waiter that it was his birthday and asked for a dessert recommendation with a candle. They surprised us with a delicious dessert — and even gave it for free! Such a thoughtful and sweet gesture. Thank you for making his birthday special!

Seated fairly quick upon entry. Food came out in a timely fashion, fresh and crisp, the crab cakes was the smallest I’ve seen by far. Waiter was friendly and kept a smile on his face.

Mexican restaurant
Este is a Mexican seafood restaurant known for its creative and tasty food, offering fresh and flavorful dishes like tuna carnitas and fish tacos. The restaurant's service is top-notch, with friendly staff who accommodate dietary restrictions. The interiors are beautiful, and the atmosphere is spectacular. One highlight of the menu is the butterflied shrimp, while the elote dessert comes highly recommended. Additionally, Este has received praise for its variety of raw fish entrees and large chips with dipping sauce.
I had a fabulous dinner at Este. The dishes, especially the raw plates, were unbelievable. They featured both familiar and creative ingredients and methods that I was blown away by. The service was also excellent - a team of folks worked in harmony to deliver a seamless and thoughtful experience. Priscilla was our server, and was confident, informative, and friendly. This is one of the best dining experiences I have ever had, and will absolutely be bringing other back with me.

Well-executed concept. I was expecting more seafood and less Mexican influence, but I still felt the dishes were nice, just not for me. Much messier than I expected. Although the lobster was pre-cracked, getting a nutcracker for the pieces that weren’t cracked completely would’ve been nice. (We requested one and were told they didn’t have any.) The seating design is kind of weird. We sat at the counter and (technically) faced the chefs, but I felt like I was just facing a stone wall, since the stone slab between you and the kitchen is fairly high.

Este is an absolute gem. The ceviche? Unreal. The tuna appetizer? Spot on. Fish tacos? Perfect. And the halibut, good lord, that fish tasted like it had been baptized in butter and personally seasoned by Poseidon during spring break in Cancún. Straight 10/10. For my wife and her bestie though, the real showstopper was not the food, it was our waiter Alex, the blue-eyed Colombian legend himself. They were basically auditioning for The Bachelor: East Austin Seafood Edition. I have not felt that invisible since my kids discovered TikTok. Alex was casually dropping free shots, having us chase them with ceviche juice, and somehow making it feel classy. You can’t compete with that. Este will fill your stomach. Alex will fill your insecurities. Este is five stars. My confidence, two at best. Will be working out every day until my next visit. Thanks Alex! Seriously tho, amazing waiter and incredible restaurant.

Having heard about this spot from Michelin's recommended list, I decided to check it out. Their unique take on chips and salsa was a definite highlight, and the cocktails truly packed a punch. The tacos were also fantastic. I particularly appreciated the convenience of their valet parking. However, I was quite let down by the dessert menu; both the quality and options didn't live up to the excellence of their main dishes

The first time I came to this restaurant, I didn’t even live in Austin—and I loved it. Once I moved here, it quickly became one of my favorite spots. I bring every visitor here, and it never disappoints. The only downside from this visit was finding out they no longer serve their elote dessert cake. You guys need to bring this back—it was unreal! From the new desserts, my mom loved the poppy cake, and I was obsessed with the almond torte. This time we also tried ALL the margaritas, and everyone picked a favorite. But the surprise star of the night? The Ensalada César. We’ve tried almost everything on the menu over the years, but tonight we finally gave the salad a try… and thank God we did. It was incredibly fresh and flavorful—I could’ve ordered five more. And of course, the FISH TACOS and the CAMARONES “EL RICAS” were as amazing as ever. Can’t stop ordering them!! Ale, the executive chef, came to our table and was incredibly kind to my mom and to us. She recommended the almond torte—and thank God for that, it was delicious. She also shared a fun story behind the Caesar salad, and her warmth really made the experience even more special.

Beautiful building and atmosphere but the food was kind of mid. The tuna tacos tasted fishy and dry, almost like tuna jerky in a taco. We heard the swordfish tacos were good, they looked like fish and chips- battered and fried. We got the guacamole which wasn't anything out of the ordinary. The pineapple margarita was nice. The grilled shrimp camarones were good, we were told you could eat the shell but that was not for me. There was maybe 3 or 4 shrimp in the half portion. Finally we got the cochinita pi bill wrapped in a banana leaf. Sadly that was somewhat dry too. The highlights were the sesserts- we got the basil cake and the chocolate cake, both were excellent but the basil took the leading edge. Our server was great.

We came for lunch and they have a pretty nice happy hour during lunch time! We had the seafood platter and the fried fish sandwich. They have house-made tostadas and two kinds of salsa as their appetizer. Both were good, neither particularly spicy. The platter came with ten oysters and they had two different types when we went, Texas and New Brunswick, and both were good. It also had clams, which were delicious, and a very generous portion of whitefish salad. The fried fish had a nice crisp coating. I enjoyed the pickled vegetables on the side. The service was great. They were attentive and accommodating to us having our dogs with us (we ate outside on the patio). The patio was fine but the inside atmosphere was a lot nicer. Will definitely have to come back for dinner and without the dogs!

Exceptional drinks, food, and service. Liam was a great calm steady guide to help make decisions for our anniversary dinner. His help and positivity was very much appreciated. The drink Hoja en Blanco is now my favorite cocktail that I have ever had. Their Oyster Especial (favorite item of our dinner) made with bluefin tuna and tobiko was the tastiest flavorful unique oyster I have tried and I highly recommend. Their tamale was also unique as it has a strong licorice flavor which may not be everyone’s preferred flavor profile, but we enjoyed it and found it to be a pleasant dish. The toro tostadita was delicious and the ceviche was refreshing. The Lime Mezcal Pie was an excellent dessert with very balanced flavors. Overall, the service, ambience, and incredible food made this a wonderful place to celebrate our anniversary.

Whole Foods Market is an eco-conscious chain offering a wide range of natural and organic grocery items, housewares, and other products. Many locations also sell wine. The flagship store in Austin features a rooftop playground and shaded tables where visitors can enjoy their purchases. In addition to groceries, the store offers hot food options for those looking for a proper meal. The location also showcases public art that has become popular among locals and visitors alike.
This is the best Whole Foods I've ever visited. The store is incredibly well-organized with a smooth and efficient flow. It seems to have everything I could possibly want. The market is massive, encompassing numerous sections from fresh produce and frozen foods to a fantastic bakery. The coolest feature is the inclusion of a wine bar within the market itself. I also appreciate the ample seating areas available throughout the store and near the checkout counters.

big beautiful store. Employees, as they are in over 20 Whole Food stores that I've been to all over the country, are very personable. So why not 5 stars? Because of some silly corporate decision that drinks would be scattered in about 15 different sections all over the stores. In smaller stores, it wasn't as big of an issue and in my neighborhood one, I just know where everything is. This is a grocery store, not a bookstore. It's not a good feature to have to "browse" all over the store to find the one drink you're looking for. All grocery stores place different types of drinks in different sections but this is done to an absurd level.
Gary M — Google review
Whole Foods Market has long positioned itself as the go-to grocery store for health-conscious consumers seeking organic, sustainably sourced, and high-quality food products. Founded in 1980 and acquired by Amazon in 2017, the chain has expanded its reach while maintaining its core values of clean eating and environmental responsibility. One of Whole Foods' standout features is its dedication to organic produce and natural products. Shoppers can expect a wide variety of fruits and vegetables, most of which are clearly labeled and certified organic. Meat and seafood selections are also held to high standards, with animal welfare ratings and sustainable fishing practices prominently displayed. The store’s layout is clean, inviting, and aesthetically pleasing, with neatly arranged aisles, specialty sections like the hot food and salad bars, and a focus on local products. Whole Foods also carries a large inventory of gluten-free, vegan, and non-GMO items, which caters to a wide range of dietary needs and lifestyles. However, price remains a common concern. Despite Amazon’s ownership and subsequent price cuts on some items, Whole Foods still tends to be more expensive than mainstream grocery stores. While you are often paying for better sourcing and higher quality, budget-conscious shoppers may find it difficult to make Whole Foods their primary grocery destination. Customer service is generally excellent—employees are knowledgeable and helpful, and the checkout process is efficient, especially with Amazon Prime integration for additional savings. In summary, Whole Foods Market delivers a premium shopping experience focused on wellness, sustainability, and quality. It’s a top choice for those who prioritize food transparency and are willing to pay a little more for it. While not ideal for every budget, it remains a favorite for many who value what it stands for: conscious consumption and better food choices

Parking is free for 90 minutes with covered parking in the garage below. This is the largest Whole Foods in the area. With a lot of to go food options. Including pizza at the hot bar. There are extra options in most departments because of the size of the store. Including clothing and advent calendars. There’s covered seating on the ground floor. Indoor seating on the mezzanine. Then outdoor seating on the plaza/balcony area with covered seating and a small playground. Definitely recommend.

Whole Foods is an original Austin business dating back more than 40 years. I still remember the original Whole Foods, which was right across from the 7-Eleven on Lamar and ninth Street. Since then, it has become a grocery store behemoth and gets a bad rap for prices, but when you get you get what you pay for. All the produce and meat here is very fresh, and a lot of the meat is certified to be humanely raised. A lot of their seafood is MSC certified meaning it was sustainably harvested. Their fresh food bars are excellent, and their pizza is very good, and an excellent value. I wish they carried their vegan pizza more consistently, as one of my friends often goes there just for this. Their produce is excellent and comparable to the produce at Central market. Despite being an enormous chain now it’s still retains a lot of the Austin flavor. This is their flagship store, near their corporate offices. After moving from their original store, they were briefly a block to the north and what is now REI.

Evangeline Cafe is a cozy Cajun-Creole restaurant in South Austin, known for its classic Louisiana-style seafood and authentic dishes. The owner, a Lake Charles native, brings the flavors of his hometown to this funky gem tucked into a strip mall. The menu features favorites like po' boys, gumbo, crawfish etouffee, and fried seafood baskets that are highly praised by locals.
Loved the live music. Our waitress was amazing. It was my birthday dinner and I had never been there but I was really craving cajun. All the food was yummy! We also tried both desserts. The bread pudding was to die for. Will be back again.

Enjoyed this hole in the wall. Tried several appetizers and the gumbo. Highly recommended the stuffed pistolette. Also had green and red wings. I liked the red, the green weren’t for me. They had good fried pickles too. The gumbo wasn’t my favorite, a little salty for me. Would recommend this place for atmosphere and good service.

Fun place. Reasonable prices. Food was good. We had stuffed catfish, fried cardio fillers, and chicken fried steak. All were pretty good. The accompanying fries weren't much to wrote about. The bread pudding was tasty, but a little too dense. It could've used a little more sauce. The staff were all friendly. The restaurant had a fun, pub like vibe.

I took a buddy who had never had Cajun. I got him to eat some alligator bites. Probably, the best we've ever had. Sorry about the picture we'd already ate about half of it before, I remembered to take the picture.... I had a stuffed pork chop, and he had a shrimp, po boy, and it was all incredible. The waitress helped him out since he was a rookie. Although I could have, it was great for her to jump in, place is fun. The walls are packed with memorabilia and Louisiana style stuff. Great place, and it's a little hole in the wall from the outside, so don't let that deter you...

During a recent trip to Austin, I had the pleasure of dining at Diner Bar - Seafood Bistro & Lounge, and it was an unforgettable experience. From the moment we arrived, the service was exceptional; our host made us feel right at home while our waiter John B. went above and beyond to ensure everything was perfect. The menu featured a delightful array of dishes including southern chicken, schnitzel, pasta, and smashed potatoes—each one more delicious than the last!
Great service, seafood and southern-influenced menu. Also fantastic new happy hour menu with good value, can’t beat the martini and food specials. Must try the shrimp toast, very unique.

Great dinner on my trip to Austin. The most impeccable service all around. The host was so accommodating and personable as we were sat and out service continued with our waiter John B. He helped us choose our menu and was went above and beyond to make sure our courses were separate- even got our bread expedited without asking. The food itself was great. We got the southern chicken, schnitzel, pasta, and smashed potato’s. The best were the bread and chicken in my opinion. A couple espresso martinis to end the 10/10 night.

Booked a table last minute after the heat went out on Christmas - so walked into the meal blind. The design and aesthetics are nothing special, but the service and food are phenomenal. Our server was able to talk to the chef to make a vegan dish for someone at our table who was vegan, and the other apps/entrees/desserts were exactly as described and of healthy portions. We ended up eating out for a week and this is the only experience we will absolutely be repeating. Cannot recommend highly enough!

We LOVED Diner Bar, it’s definitely a new favorite of ours! We came for our anniversary and are so thankful we did. We enjoyed the oysters, deviled eggs, steak frites, martinis, affogato, and a special little anniversary dessert. Everything was spectacular, as was the service. We can’t wait to come back!

Perfectly prepared Seafood, comfortable but elegant ambiance, and a great location. A nice high end but low-key spot right near the iconic Austin music spot, Antone’s. The kind crab was perfectly cooked. The braised greens had the subtlest kiss of Serrano pepper. It is seafood with a whisper of the south. The chef is James Beard award winning MASHAMA BAILEY of Savanah, so that makes a lot of sense. The vibe was relaxed but high-end. They bill this as a southern spot. I think it is more a seafood place with a whisper of the South (not to be confused with “Texan cuisine” a cousin but something entirely its own thing.) The restroom is hard to find - it is in the hotel lobby but they do not have good signage. It is buried in the back of a second elevator bank area. They have a neon sign in a different spot announcing that it is NOT the restroom - but nothing of its equal to show you where you should go / where it is. They set up shop diagonally across from Eddie V’s (seafood and chop house) which has been there for decades.
Jqiatx — Google review
Great food and service. Located in the Thomson Hotel Lobby. Went for dinner on Sunday and ordered some items from happy hour also. Baked oysters, fried ugali, and baked chicken wings were excellent. Entree Day boat catch was a Pan-seared red snapper with clamps dish and was amazing. The fish was cooked perfectly, but I wouldn't say I liked the clams in it. I didn't like the “in the night” bourbon cocktail (too sweet for me), but the host replaced it with old-fashioned bourbon, which was excellent. Dessert was just ok. The complimentary lavender lemon popsicle was tasty! Restaurant validates hotel valet parking that saves $20!

Oh my God!! Has to be one of the best resturant we have been to in Austin. Amazing service, amazing food and amazing cocktails. Ben our server was an extraordinary evangelist for the James beard award winning chef and her experience she creates. You should make early reservations so you can chat with the staff and hear more about the various dishes and thoughts behind them. Ask for Ben!

We chose this place to celebrate our anniversary as we love to explore restaurants, especially learning that chef Bailey has recently earned her James Beard Award. We were very excited to try this place out. The food is fantastic without a doubt. We ordered the Uruguayan Caviar, which was very rich and creamy, not as salty as American Caviar. My favorite was the Crudo and Foie and Grit. The service, on the other hand, was very disappointed. The waitress was sweet, helping us take pictures. Though, when we asked about the food recommendations, she only said in general terms like "It tastes wonderful", "you'll love it", "absolute my favorite", but she was not able to describe the taste of the food so we could understand what to expect. When dining at a place like this, I want to have educated recommendations. After almost blindly ordering the apertizers, the waitress, for some reason, did not ask if we wanted any entree. After the first apertizer, which is the caviar, we were supposed to get the Crudo to "clean our palate", per the waitress suggestion, but they accidentally brought it to a different table, so we had to wait a little longer for that and had the Beef Tartar instead of the order of the food. It wasn't a problem because we understand that sometimes the restaurant can get busy. The waitress offered the Crudo on the gouse, so that was nice. However, it happened again. We ordered and finished a dozen oysters as we were waiting for the last apertizer, which was the Foie and Grit. It took 30 minutes from the time we finished the oysters to the time the grit came out. Some other table of 4 arrived after us, but they finished their diner and dessert before we got to our last apertizer. When we got the check, I noticed the "on the house" Crudo was charged, so I had to wait for the waitress to come by again to ask about it. The food was very delicious but the wait was ridiculous! The diner was 2 hours and 20 minutes long with 5 entrées, I wanted to at least try dessert but didn't want to wait any longer. It somewhat ruined our anniversary night, but we walked around the block and got ourselves some Voodoo donuts! Sugar always makes us happy.

Uptown Sports Club, located in a 19th-century building on East 6th Street, exudes a classic New Orleans vibe with its exposed brick walls, mosaic tile floors, vintage lighting, and marble and chrome-accented bar. The all-day bar and restaurant offers quintessential New Orleans dishes such as gumbo, Zapps potato chips, poboys, and roast-beef sandwiches drenched in debris gravy made with chopped brisket.
I went there about a week ago. The place reminded me of New Orleans right away. We ordered the po boy shrimp samdwich and the chips with caramelized onion dip off the lunch menu and the brisket sandwich off the specials. All the food was very good. Highly recommend that caramelized onion dip, delicious. The service was amazing as well! Lots of good vibes and good food overall.

It was my first time at Uptown Sports Club. I went for Saturday lunch. First impression: good vibe, busy place. It reminded me of New Orleans halls (without the jazz band). I little noisy for my taste, but that was to be expected. Food: I ordered a bowl of gumbo and a basket of hush puppies. Gumbo: It was not a seafood gumbo but a chicken and sausage one (andouille, I assume, but not specified). The dark roux was there, but the whole was missing heat and depth. A little too bland for my taste. Hush puppies: Sorry to say, but I could not finish them. Lacking cornmeal, too much flour. Tasted gummy. Also, I wish they were not salted before they got to my table. Too heavy on the salt. Let me fo the salting at my taste. Service: Very quick and attentive. Much appreciated. Thank you. Overall: Buzzy place, very popular, but if they wanted to emulate Louisiana food, it's off the mark. I may come back for another try but not impressed by the food. I know, I am picky, but I am a French chef, after all. Chef Alain Braux

This place really took me by surprise. I have always seen it but never been. We came on a Sunday around noon just when it started getting busy. We got seated right away and our server was really tentative. Our food came out quickly as well. I didn’t know Austin had a Louisiana-Texas inspired restaurant and we really liked our food! Getting Gumbo and Red Beans & Rice in Austin is really refreshing LOL everything we had was good. I want to come back and try the dinner menu!

Atmosphere was great. It felt like you walked off the Austin streets straight into NOLA. But that's where the positive experience ended. We regularly spend weekends in New Orleans but haven't been in a few months. We thought this would get us excited about our next trip but it's just made me more frustrated. The Shrimp Creole and redfish were SALTY. The kale, grits AND gravy were too salty, the shrimp themselves were fishy. The redfish had 5+ bones in them along with being too salty. They comped it no problem and gave us bread pudding to-go. My kid thought it was a biscuit. It was way more bread than any bread pudding Ive ever seen. Our server was "nice" but had to be flagged down to order another drink, appetizers and even our meal. It felt like we were bothering her. The staff doesn't need to be my best friend but damn, I shouldn't be begging to get food AT A RESTAURANT. Next trip to NOLA is in 3 weeks and can't come soon enough to get this disappointing taste out of my mouth.

I was really excited to have brunch at Honey Moon this morning after reading and hearing so many great things about it, but I left feeling underwhelmed and disappointed. The atmosphere was exactly what you’d hope for in Austin — funky, cool, with fun music and a laid-back vibe. The service was attentive and friendly, no complaints there. Where things fell apart was with the food and drinks. We ordered a latte and chai lattes — the flavors were lovely, but both were barely warm. It felt as though the drinks had started out hot, only to be cooled by cold milk instead of properly steamed milk. For food, we ordered the biscuits, parfait, Seoul chicken and waffles, and stuffed French toast. The biscuits and parfait were fine — nothing remarkable, but enjoyable enough. The stuffed French toast, however, felt more like a sandwich made with grocery store loaf bread. While the cheesecake filling was light and pleasantly flavored, the butter-to-syrup ratio was off, and the blueberry compote promised on the menu was not a blueberry compote. The Seoul chicken and waffles were the biggest disappointment. The chicken tasted like overcooked frozen nuggets, topped with a flavorful chili oil–style sauce that, unfortunately, clashed with the delicate beetroot butter. The waffle itself was just okay. There are glimpses of genius here — the beetroot butter and chai flavors — but the fundamentals of each dish fell short, leaving me both disappointed and confused.
Alison R — Google review
Had such a horrible experience, the cocktails were just detox water. The veggie patty burger was garbage. The only thing I could taste in the burger was the salt. The only saving grace on the table was the beetroot butter that came with the super salty biscuit. Would not recommend this place for anyone looking for vegetarian options. The server and overall service were nice.

And the service is impeccably friendly. I absolutely love it. Get your burger fancy and your chicken fried. And if you didn't like those ideas, ask your server and order whatever they tell you. You won't be disappointed.

Maie Day, the latest project by Michael Fojtasek, offers a vibrant dining experience with a focus on food and community. The restaurant combines the best elements of steakhouses with a lively atmosphere. The menu features delectable options such as raw bar items, smoked fish dip, salads, and grilled chicken. Additionally, Maie Day offers an enticing happy hour deal with discounts on cocktails, beer and wine, as well as appetizers.
As someone who has spent a lifetime on the road, consulting with lux and super lux hotels on elevated guest engagement, quality and leadership development, I am extra particular about where I spend time in my personal life. Our recent visit with you all was nothing short of perfection. Perfect ambiance. Incredible menu and story telling (both in messaging and food quality) and service from Ani that felt both familiar and sophisticated at once. Ani, in addition to her service of flawless presentation and flavor on the food side, was such a highlight of this experience and brought attentiveness, authenticity and thoughtful engagement in spades. We will come back often and eagerly and already see Maie Day as our next go-to kitchen and dining room when not taking advantage of our own. Many many thanks to you all. Also, adding on here a huge shoutout to our host, with the long and curly hair whose name we didn’t catch, for graciousness of service, memorable interaction and a genuine smile and elegance. Big hugs, team, and with so much gratitude.

Amazing steak, strong appetizers, and the best chocolate cake in town. Some of the menu items are very reasonably priced, some… not so much… everything in balance I guess? Definitely worth a visit, and definitely deserving of making the Michelin guide. The atmosphere is one of my favorite in town and the location is fantastic. Everything I had on the menu was good except for the crab claws. Could have been an off night. The cornbread though? Yes.

My friends and I had an exceptional visit to Maie Day during a weekend visit recently. The food was exceptional, the drinks were great, and the service made for an excellent trip. I made a reservation ahead of time, but the guests who were occupying our table were taking a while to leave, so we ultimately opted to sit outside and enjoy the nice weather instead. The team was beyond accommodating and went above and beyond to apologize for the last minute change. Emmy, Josh, and David particularly made us feel very taken care of and more than made up for the incredibly slight inconvenience. The hospitality made it a no-brainer that we would be back again. I personally opted for the burger for my entree and am glad I did, because it was delicious and hearty. One of the best burgers I've had in a long time. Even though it took a while for food to come out, the vibes of the space made for a nice long night out before hitting up some nearby bars. Thanks Maie Day team for an excellent experience!

Visited Maie Day during happy hour, and stayed for dinner. The grilled oysters were the table favorite, do not miss out on these! For entrées, my favorite was the ribeye cooked to a perfect medium, rare, super tender, and just a delight at every bite! A close runner-up was the chicken fried steak, which the gravy alone was amazing, but was lost a bit when paired with a thickly battered steak. Dessert was a giant slice of chocolate cake. We knew we ordered it to go and had a couple of bites before we left the restaurant and it was a delicious fresh as well as second day from the fridge.

Honestly, overall, it was a great experience. The appetizers were amazing. The drinks were fresh. The food was phenomenal. Again, this could’ve been her experience so I won’t speak ill of the restaurant because there’s always issues that occur. On our visit, the onion was very undercooked. They also insist on you placing the full order at once instead of ordering appetizers and then your entrées later, they like it all at once so they can time it properly. But in our case, we ordered it all at once and we still didn’t receive our entrées until 45 minutes after our appetizers arrived. That being said, I think it might’ve been an off night and all the other food that we had was top-notch and amazing. I’m still thinking about that burger today.
Jonathan B — Google review
All of our food was delicious! 5 of us split the 16oz ribeye and a could sides, I recommend sharing because the portions are large! The steak was cooked and seasoned perfectly. The gimme burger was delicious and shareable! Mac & cheese was homemade. The chef gave us a side “on the house” just because. Service was great.
Tancy G — Google review
Atmosphere was good. Lots of wood and low lighting. Tables are close together to encourage conversation. BBQ shrimp was tasty but my fried fish did not have much flavor. Service was good.

This was my second time visiting Maie Day for brunch & I have been very pleased each time. I haven't made a reservation either time due to not having a firm schedule but we have been accommodated without flaw each time. I have sat both in the main dining room and at the bar. This time we ordered a crispy diet coke (10/10), Bread Basket, Prime Rib Hash, & the Maie'd Up Plate. This was my second time ordering the Prime Rib Hash and I'd say it's just okay, nothing to write home about. I think it's just to liquidy for me, I'm assuming its from the fat of the prime rib but it leaves the potatoes soggy & not crispy. I'll get something different next time. Overall, very satisfied & will return when back in the area!

Truluck's Ocean's Finest Seafood & Crab is a premier dining destination that elevates the seafood experience in Austin. Nestled in the vibrant Downtown Warehouse district and the upscale Great Hills Arboretum shopping area, this restaurant exudes elegance with its strict coat and tie dress code, making it perfect for special occasions.
Wow, talk about an incredible experience. We had heard about this restaurant because of the Pay It Forward event, and finally made it here. From the moment we walked in, we felt so welcome. The service was spectacular and the food was delectable. Even Truluck's employees who weren't assigned to our table wished my husband and I a happy anniversary, we felt SO special. We plan to return before next year. Don't hesitate to try this place out!

We showed up an hour early to our reservation on accident and the host sat us anyways and was so nice to us! They surprised us with an anniversary card and rose petals on the table. Our server even got us black napkins to match our outfit so we wouldn’t get white fluff from the white napkins on our dresses. We felt like royalty the whole dining experience. We had a three course meal and everything was a 10/10 I’m very honest when it comes to the food but everything we got had flavor and the prime rib melted in my mouth! They made our anniversary extra special. And the live music brought a nice ambience. They gave us an off menu baked Alaska for dessert special for our anniversary. Definitely coming back for special occasions!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Truluck’s Ocean’s Finest Seafood in Downtown Austin never disappoints! From the moment we arrived, the service was warm, attentive, and genuinely friendly — making the evening feel effortless and relaxing. We grabbed seats in the bar area, which had an inviting, upscale vibe perfect for a late-night bite and cocktails. The fresh oyster selections were outstanding — briny, crisp, and beautifully presented. The cocktails were just as impressive, perfectly balanced and crafted with care. For food, we shared the Tuna Tartare, Calamari, Lobster Mac and Cheese, and Lobster Fried Rice — every dish was exceptional and ideal for sharing. Each bite was flavorful, fresh, and elegantly prepared. Truluck’s is the perfect spot for a nightcap or a light dinner with a touch of sophistication. Can’t wait to come back!🍸🥃🦞🦪

We had a fantastic experience to celebrate my husband's birthday. Our server, Brooke, was very knowledgeable and made great recommendations. The seafood tower was very fresh, the shrimp cocktail was really good, my seabass entree was delicious, as well as the rest of the food. Also, valet is the way to go if you do not want to worry about parking! Thank you Chef Alejandro for taking great care of my group. Looking forward to returning soon!

Truluck’s was the perfect spot to celebrate our anniversary. The staff went out of their way to make the night feel special with added touches such as a card with handwritten signatures and a delicious complimentary dessert. The food was excellent and the new location and decor is Beautiful!

Great atmosphere and service, the best part of our dinner was the lobster bisque!!! Hands down one of the best ever. my husband and I both had the redfish ponchotrain and we're a little disappointed. The fish seemed overcooked and the rice that it comes with was not the best a little dry, but my son got the ribeye and he thought it was cooked perfect and we had creamed spinach and garlic mashed potatoes as our sides and they were yummy. The Grey Goose martinis with homemade stuffed blue cheese olives were perfect and we had a very nice bottle of wine.

Pappadeaux Seafood Kitchen is a chain restaurant known for its Cajun-style seafood, pastas, and comfort food. The menu features items like New England Lobster Bites, Jumbo Lump Crab Cakes, and Jumbo Shrimp Brochette. This Austin-based eatery offers a memorable dining experience with mouthwatering dishes crafted from the freshest seafood.
Crab cakes are amazing 😍🤩. The employees won't admit it but I've been to this location long enough to know the crab cakes are seasonal. They should add that to the menu. Also the salmon Alexander is pretty tasty 🤤. The portions are just the right size.

I went during Happy Hour & I am glad that I did. The menu has shrunk tremendously, but they still have some great options. I enjoyed almost all of them. Don't let them forget to bring you the fresh bread & butter. It's delicious & offered to every dine in customer.

I had not been back to this location for almost a year. Had a bad experience when I tried the steak. After such a long time my fiance and I decided to give this place another try and let me tell you …. This visit was not just another meal at a restaurant but it was an EXPERIENCE. What made this visit 100x better than our last and a lot of others was the service. Rizz was our server and what a pleasure it was, she treated us like royalty and by the time I could even think about what I could possibly need she was there in a split second and a step ahead of me every time. Compliments to the chef cause the food was amazing Monday. But what really took it to another level was Rizz she was hands down one of the best servers I’ve ever had. I will be calling ahead next time because if she is not working then I’d rather wait for when she is cause I couldn’t imagine visiting and not receiving the same quality experience as before. Everything from start to finish was amazing but Rizz was the #1 reason why our visit was such an amazing experience. Can’t thank or recommend her enough ! 🏆

Visited this Pappadeaux in Austin in April. It was close to our hotel, and we waited for it to open in the parking lot. The food and service were both okay—nothing outstanding, but nothing to complain about either. However, the restaurant itself could really use a thorough cleaning. While the dining experience was passable, it was hard to fully enjoy the meal given the noticeable need for better upkeep around the facility. We sat in a booth, and I could not help but notice the dust accumulated around little light on the table, it looks as if it had not been wiped down in a while (if ever). I am not sure if I will return simply because the things I can see are not clean who knows what is going on for the things I cannot see. Do not get me wrong other Pappadeaux are not like this, it seems to be unique to this location. Usually, the food is really good, but my party all agreed the food was just okay and that we should have selected another place for brunch.
Summer J — Google review
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ This was my third visit to Pappadeaux, and once again they absolutely delivered! We ordered a spread that included the oysters, Alfredo pasta, and a variety of seafood dishes — every single bite was tremendous. The oysters were fresh and perfectly prepared, the Alfredo pasta was rich and flavorful, and the seafood was cooked to perfection. What I really appreciate is the consistency — every time I come here, the service is welcoming, the atmosphere is lively, and the food is outstanding. It’s rare to find a place that keeps impressing visit after visit, but Pappadeaux makes it look easy. If you’re craving seafood that’s both high-quality and full of flavor, this is the spot. Definitely deserves five stars!

The food is really good, especially fish dishes. This is a huge place, with plenty of parking. Service was fine. Decent wine list too. Prices about average.

Fantastic food!!!! Very professional and friendly service!!! The atmosphere is charming but it is loud and the music (over the speakers) distracts from conversation. The prices are high but the food is top notch and the portions are generous! It's a great place to go for fine dining and fun atmosphere - but not the place to go if you want to have a discussion over dinner - But YOU MUST GO!!!!

Acre 41 is a trendy New American restaurant known for its burgers, steaks, and weekend brunch. The atmosphere is described as amazing, with high-end cocktails and excellent service. The well-designed space exudes a chic modern look reminiscent of a high-scale liquor lounge. Guests praise the outstanding food quality, including sandwiches made with top-notch ingredients.
Excellent food and service! Ram, our waiter was very friendly and helped us order the best meal to celebrate my sweethearts 60th birthday! We will be back and not just for a special occasion.

Our first visit to Austin for a comedy show Saturday night. Acre 41 was a few minutes away from our hotel. It was amazing! Our server Ram, was great! The atmosphere was intimate with low lighting. The food was wonderful. We shared the wagyu meatballs which were flavorful and went well on the bread which had a perfect crunch and thickness. I don't have a picture of my husband's bone-in ribeye but he said it was fabulous! The Acre Style Filet with crab meat and truffle bearnaise sauce was spectacular! The creamy spinach is a must. The bread pudding dessert was heavenly! I love bread pudding and this takes the top spot! Would definitely recommend this restaurant! When visiting Austin, we'll be sure to eat here again!

Came here for my wedding anniversary. Stayed in the hotel. Was absolutely AMAZING!!! I had the tomahawk pork and my husband had the prime rib. We also had the twice backed potato. SOOOO GOOD. And the blueberry cheesecake was delicious! Staxx was the best at waiting on us!! We can’t wait to come back for our next anniversary!

On the final night of a business trip, we stopped by Acre 41 for dinner. To say that John R. and Chef Chris took excellent care us would be underselling it. The Acre Style Filet was probably the best steak we've ever had, and John R.'s suggestion to pair that with the house Old Fashioned was perfect. We topped that off with the Warm Cast Iron Brownie, and it was one of the best overall meals we've ever had. Thanks for taking care of us, John R. and Chef Chris!

I visited Acre 41 for brunch and was immediately impressed by the ambience, absolutely beautiful. The décor and overall vibe of the restaurant were top-tier and made for a great first impression. For my meal, I ordered the Wagyu flat iron and eggs which came with potatoes. I requested my steak well done, but unfortunately it came out medium rare bland and not what I asked for. I also ordered the Ginger Sunrise mocktail. It arrived with no ice, and even after asking one of the waitress for a cup of ice she never brought it. I eventually had to get up and go to the bar myself to get some. Overall, the aesthetics of the restaurant were impressive but the service didn’t match the atmosphere. There’s definitely potential but attention to detail and customer requests need improvement 🤗

The service and attention by Omar was superb. The food was above expectation. The chef brought us a sample of something he created and the flavor was just right. The bartender created a mix drink for me just to perfection. The atmosphere was romantic and upbeat at the same time. Omar gave us all the attention ensuring we were taken care of. We will definitely return for another meal.

Y'all are missing out. Fredas is very good. It's pretty much a seafood and steak place but on Sunday. I had a wonderful experience at this seafood restaurant. My drink was absolutely delicious — perfectly balanced and refreshing. The appetizers were tasty and well-prepared, and the main course did not disappoint either. Everything was cooked just right and full of flavor. On top of that, the service was excellent. Our waitress was incredibly friendly, attentive, and made us feel very welcome. I’ll definitely be coming back!

Freda’s Seafood in Austin is a total gem — especially if you’re looking for a high-quality lunch spot with great value. Their lunch specials are generous and delicious, making it easy to enjoy fresh seafood without breaking the bank. The clams were incredibly fresh and perfectly prepared — a real standout for seafood lovers. The drinks and beer selection were equally impressive, with refreshing cocktails and a solid variety of local brews to choose from. If you’re heading there, do yourself a favor and order the paella — rich, flavorful, and packed with perfectly cooked seafood. It’s easily one of the best in town.

We went here on a Friday Evening for dinner. I called at 6pm and was able to make a reservation for 7pm. We arrived a little early and expected to wait in the bar area but they seated us right away. Our server was very attentive. Brought us our drinks and took our starter order quickly. We got the spinach artichoke dip and my husband ordered the gumbo. The dip was good and the chips were freshly fried tortilla chips. My husband said the gumbo was ok. He gets this everywhere we go and compares them all. We ordered our dinners; I got the pecan crusted tilapia which was amazing! Not fishy tasting at all. The green pesto creme on top was flavorful. I took half of my fish home for leftovers but didn’t eat it until Monday, still tasted amazing! My husband ordered the fried seafood platter. He was not a fan of the crab stuffed mushrooms but I liked them. The matchstick fries were crispy just like he likes them! Our total bill was over $100 but with that we got drinks, starters and dinner with some leftovers for another day. Totally worth it in my book! We hadn’t been here in several years and I have to say it’s still a wonderful experience! Oh, and they had someone playing a piano and/or bass singing in the bar area. Which was a nice add to our dinner. Great place for a romantic evening with your loved one!

Traveled to Austin for work and stayed outside downtown area due to excessive hotel rates. Courtyard Hotel is off the beaten track with minimal food options. Pleasantly surprised to find this gem of a family owned restaurant about a 6 minute walk. Ate at the bar with very attentive server. Had the cornbread, tomato basil soup, and orange roughy with shrimp, mushroom risotto, and asparagus. Enjoyed every bite! Would definitely come back if I stay out this way again.

This place is a seafood lovers heaven! My wife and i loved everything we ordered here. The crab stuffed red snapper was amazing! Even the free cornbread was so soft and flavorful. I will 100% be coming back.
Richard B — Google review
I took my husband here for his birthday and it was nice. Very dim lighted, however and definitely more of a fancy romantic vibe going on. The food was a little pricey for our taste. I got the shrimp scampi, which was very different flavored than I’ve ever had before but surprisingly good. My husband got the lobster and he didn’t complain which means it was probably really really good because he never compliments any food and when I asked him if he liked it, he actually said YES and not “it was all right”. Of course the husband likes to have beer with his meal and it wasn’t overpriced when I thought it probably would’ve been for as fancy of a little place as it seemed to be. That was so that was nice to not have to pay an outrageous amount for a beer. I’m sure in the future will probably go back sometime to take family or friends if they come to visit, but not as to stay frequent place to eat only because of the pricing.
Ivy B — Google review
The crab cake was delicious, same with the complementary corn bread. The entrees were good, maybe missing a bit of an edge. However, we felt like our waitress was disappointed by how little we were ordering…. And we felt she was pushing us to order another drink, and another app… she could of just been having an off day but it was the last meal of our vacation and kind of hampered on us a bit

Restaurant
Ranch 616 is a lively spot in Austin, known for its Southwestern cuisine and occasional live music. The Rain Water cocktail, a twist on the classic Ranch Water, has gained popularity at this establishment. It features reposado tequila, fresh lime juice, and orange cordial topped with Topo Chico. The restaurant's eclectic decor adds to the vibrant atmosphere. Guests can enjoy their meals indoors or outdoors while being entertained by live music.
My wife and I decided to pop into Ranch 616 for a quick brunch, and wow, what a gem. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere had this cozy, quirky vibe that made it feel like the perfect spot to unwind. The music was just right—not overpowering, but enough to set a fun, relaxed tone. The service? Absolutely fantastic. Everyone was super friendly, and they genuinely seemed happy to help. One of the servers recommended the Hash, and let me just say, they nailed it. It was delicious—packed with flavor and cooked to perfection. It felt like comfort food but with a little extra magic. We weren’t planning on making this a regular stop, but after this experience, it’s definitely on our list. If you’re looking for great food in a welcoming spot, Ranch 616 is a must.

Atmosphere and patio was a great setting for groups and noise. Decent music playing. Quiet side street so less traffic. Service was sub par for the surrounding area is my main reason for lower ranking. Stiff and awkward for any staff encounter on a Sunday afternoon. No intro of waiters name, no hello, even after asking how she was. Very weird. Maybe saw us 2 times. Food was decently priced for downtown and quality was very good. I enjoyed the chicken fried steak. It was lightly breaded, very crispy, with a flavorful gravy. Healthy portion. Salad with steak was nice too and they paired it with 2 very good dressings. The 2 drinks we ordered tasted like plenty of alcohol was used and better mixers with it. Maybe even freshly pressed. Could have fooled me if they were packaged mixers. If definitely go again for the chicken fried steak and would hope service matches every place we've been to around downtown.

Péché is a French-inspired establishment located in the warehouse district of downtown Austin. It offers a cozy and stylish interior, making it an ideal spot for a date night or a pre-night-out gathering. The bar boasts one of the largest selections of absinthe in town, along with craft cocktails that harken back to the pre-prohibition era. The menu features classic French comfort foods from the 19th century, providing a taste of nostalgia alongside your drinks.
Best happy hour in town. Cocktails are phenomenal. Walker took care of us last night and he makes the best cocktails. Best bees knees I’ve ever had. French 75 was excellent and so beautifully presented. Love the atmosphere for date night. Escargot, mac and cheese, and Caesar salad were great! We’ve been here multiple times before and ordered the burger and rabbit pasta, rabbit pate, and beet salad which were all delicious

My boyfriend and I had the absolute best dining experience at Péché in Austin! The vibe was cozy and romantic—perfect for a date night. We started with a couple of mock-tails, and even without the alcohol, they were incredibly crafted and full of flavor. For food, we shared the mac ‘n’ cheese (so rich and creamy—definitely a must), the Ibérico pork, and the grilled beef tenderloin. Every single bite was to die for. The quality, flavors, and presentation were just exceptional. Highly recommend Péché for anyone looking to impress on a date night or just enjoy a phenomenal meal. We’ll definitely be back!

I’d give 5.1 stars if I could! So glad we found these guys as they are a rare breed of true craft cocktail bar, w delicious French fare w just the right amount of Tejas twist to make them truly unique n the dining landscape. We got extra lucky and dropped n on a monday when they offer all-day happy hour on select drink and food offerings, so of course we had to add dessert after taking advantage of this great deal. The food was fabulous and some folks could actually each get their own salad then share an app and an entree as they salads are very generous, fresh and delicious w not too heavy dressings. Our dishes were creative and savory and brought out piping hot. I will definitely be back here to explore there not to big of a menu as they had soooo many delicious looking unique dishes. Great service by the way! PS- this is a cool old repurposed building which I loved to see…more folks should do that.

Peché has become one of my absolute favorite spots in Austin — I’ve been here many times, and every visit is a pleasure. The menu is full of gems, but a few dishes always stand out for me. Their escargots are consistently excellent, prepared with just the right touch that makes them rich yet delicate. The bone marrow is nothing short of perfection — if you’re someone who appreciates true culinary delicacies, it’s a must-try. I also can’t get enough of their bouillabaisse, which is flavorful and comforting, and the pasta with peas, which may sound simple but is done so beautifully that it becomes unforgettable. Beyond the food, the service is amazing — professional, attentive, and warm without ever feeling overbearing. The ambiance ties it all together: elegant, cozy, and inviting, making every dinner feel special. If you’re looking for a place in Austin that combines exceptional food, thoughtful service, and a wonderful atmosphere, Peché is the place. Highly recommended!

I learn about my pallet ever time I eat somewhere new. Its a beautiful thing. The deviled eggs, orzo, and salads were great. On the other hand The charcuterie tray looks like a designer dog and cat food plate then I turned around and saw people eating bone marrow out of a bone like my dogs do. I get it okay it’s probably a fancy thing acquired taste and all but for me feeling like I was eating the same food that looks and smells like cat and dog food grossed me out. Get the deviled eggs and blueberry crepes or just keep walking. Cute atmosphere, gave them a 4 for that and its a hopping place.

It was such a delight dining at Péché! I recommend the escargot and mac & cheese! One of my favorite details about the restaurant were the cat portraits. Also, the sinful cocktail that I ordered was the Luna Rosa which was the BEST cocktails I have ever tried. Thank you for this experience! (:

Seafood restaurant
Turf N' Surf Po Boy is a casual eatery offering a variety of Cajun-inspired tacos and po' boys. With around 22 options, including oyster, jumbo shrimp, chicken parm, and pork chops that can be fried, grilled, or blackened, there are numerous sandwich combinations to choose from. The emphasis is on fresh Gulf seafood despite the market prices.
Turf& Surf is on point. The food and service was fast and delicious. Had the fried oyster and catfish. Their seafood sauce is the bomb!! Got a beautiful sweet kick!! It is located in a college style sports bar. So I agreed with another poster it is the most ideal to bring kids. All high top chairs bar style. Lots of big screen TVs. Thanks for the great seafood.

This is an absolutely fantastic food, drinks, and sports spot. The food is simply beyond incredible. The staff are all great and friendly. The atmosphere is exactly what we were looking for. Nice large open windows that look out onto the street, but there is plenty of room away from that as well if that is what you're looking for. The bar is set up very well. But... let's talk about the food... We got the Slap Yo Mama shrimp poboy, the blackened pork chop poboy and a side of red beans and rice... and that was enough to feed 4 people... but we ate it all... and loved every minute of it. This is definitely going to be a spot we will frequent when anywhere near ACL - we came for a Sunday evening show and decided to hit this place first... and honestly, I'm not sure which I liked better. Trust me - go and enjoy a drink, some amazing food, and some delicious grub.

So, I had some time in-between shifts & found this place. Walked there from the parking garage, it's a simple walk-up window. Lady was nice, service was quick, & the food definitely hit hard. I ordered the Ahi Tuna Tacos & the Shrimp Po'Boy. I was so hungry; the first thing that I scavenged was a taco before thinking about taking a picture. It was awesome! Perfectly cooked tuna & they were bigger than I expected. The Po'boy had weight on it when I took it out of the bag. You can't tell from the photo, but there's definitely shrimp in there. Wouldn't have expected this from a little window, but absolutely glad that I went, definitely worth it!

Paid $25 for two tacos and thought, this better taste like Poseidon himself grilled it. Spoiler: it did. The blackened mahi-mahi tacos were absolute bangers — fresh, juicy, and loaded like they’re trying to smuggle flavor across the border. I ordered from the street-side window like a sketchy dealer, but you can also order inside Lavaca Street Bar, where the vibe is “your uncle’s basement if your uncle owned 37 TVs.” Dark, divey, pool tables, sports on every screen — it’s like stepping into a time warp where the only currency is ranch dressing. Bonus: they’ve got a patio out back if you wanna eat your tacos while judging people walking by.
Adam J — Google review
Ordered the catfish poboy sandwich and cilantro fries. Did not expect what we got! The fish was crisp outside, tinder inside, delicious! You get two sauces with the sandwiches, delicious as well. More than enough food, could be shared. The fries are fresh squeezed with lime and topped with cilantro. (And an extra) when we first arrived it was just a window to order from. We thought we had to eat outside (there are tables outside) but next door noticed that Lavaca Street Bar has a window inside to order from. Very smart for both businesses!

They're close. I like the menu options, grilled cod was a good piece of fish. Problem is everything was nuked with salt. The fish, the corn, even the fries. Just insane amounts of salt. Will try again at some point to see if it changes.
Raf M — Google review
Walked in with a seafood craving not knowing what to expect. The exterior is unassuming and inside is connected to Lavaca bar. The food really blew our minds! We got the blackened redfish and snapper plates. The fish, coleslaw, and fries were all superb. Loved the freshness, balance and simplicity. Appreciated that it wasn't too heavy, and portion size was generous.

Bar
Justine's is a charming French restaurant located in east Austin, offering a delightful dining experience. The restaurant features a beautiful patio adorned with twinkling lights, creating a perfect setting for an intimate date night or celebratory dinner. Known for its brasserie menu, Justine's serves up delectable dishes such as escargots cooked in garlic-herb butter, lump crab salad, Royale With Cheese (renowned as one of the best burgers in Austin), and exceptional Steak Frites.
Justine’s has some of the most amazing-tasting food, and their menu is French-based. The octopus and oyster appetizers, along with the steak and chicken entrées, were beyond delicious. Even the mocktails were great. This place is definitely a spot for the hipsters
Mark M — Google review
We walked into Justine’s on a weekend and had about a 15-minute wait, which wasn’t bad at all. There’s a cool little bar outside where you can grab a drink while you wait, and the bartenders were awesome—friendly and knew what they were doing. The drinks were great and set the tone for the night. The place has a unique and moody vibe—dark, artsy, and a little sultry in style. It’s definitely not your typical spot, and it seems like locals love it. We got seated outside in the tented area, which had a fun atmosphere, though it was a bit warm and pretty loud. Still, it felt lively and enjoyable. Food was solid. We started with the onion soup, which was rich and flavorful. For the main, we had the steak frites—the meat was tender, juicy, and cooked just right. The fries were crisp and seasoned well. Definitely a satisfying meal. The only downside was the service. It was kind of meh and really slow. Our server wasn’t rude or anything, just not very attentive and it took a while for everything. Still, the food and vibe made up for it. Worth a visit if you’re looking for a laid-back night with good food and strong drinks in a unique setting.
Shyam P — Google review
Honestly felt overpriced for what it was, and nothing really made me want to come back. The appetizer with flaky pastry and fish was questionable. The pastry was so dry and flat, almost like eating a brick (not even crunchy) under fish that was just okay. The duck was smoked and tender enough, but it felt like it was missing other flavors. The artichoke on the side was bitter, which didn’t help.
Diana X — Google review
Good place for drinks, ambience and food. The French 75, octopus, escargot, and French onion soup were delicious! Great oyster selection but you could find fresher oysters elsewhere in Austin. You’re really there for the drinks and ambience. Food is on par.
Simone A — Google review
This place is INSANELY GOOD. Service was top notch. Highly recommend arriving right at 6pm if you want an inside table. The steak Frites was very good but honestly every dish was full of flavor, extremely fresh and used high quality ingredients. Cannot wait to go back! Great for fun group dinners!
Brennan R — Google review
Martini from the bar was incredible. We had the Pork Chop, Bolognese and Side Ratatouille. Bolognese portion is massive. We were sat quickly and service was impeccable. Will be back next week and maybe weekly forever. Don’t judge my food photography I don’t usually do that but it looked too good to not share.
Trip W — Google review
I had a fantastic evening at Justine’s Brasserie — the Escargots à la Bourguignonne were buttery and perfectly cooked, and the Steak Frites with your choice of sauce (I went with au poivre) hit the spot. The Soupe à l’Oignon to start was rich and cozy, and I couldn’t resist finishing with their Crème Brûlée (those caramelized sugar shards were divine). The vibe was just right — moody, art-filled, with a twinkle of late-night energy. Our server was friendly, knew the menu well, and made great pairing suggestions. Definitely a spot I’ll bring friends back to when I want that mix of romantic French food and lively ambiance.
Deborah H — Google review
The food is fine but not worth the price. I go out to eat once a week at a new restaurant as a hobby and this is the first time ever I’m leaving a review on Google bc that’s how bad it was. That should tell you something. I have never been treated so badly as a customer. If you want a great French meal and an amazing experience seriously go to le calamar. The food is great and they actually care about their customers.

Lucky Robot is a trendy and stylish restaurant located in South Congress, offering sustainably sourced sushi and ramen with a unique Latin American twist. The menu features a significant portion of Nikkei cuisine, showcasing the fusion of Japanese-Peruvian flavors. The restaurant takes pride in dry aging most of their fish to enhance its savory flavors and texture.
Food and service was great! The deep fried dumplings were more of a pot sticker, but the pork dumplings were incredible and what you'd expect. Their rolls are great as well - I like that don't drizzle the sauces over the rolls so it's an option instead of part of the roll
Jason P — Google review
The food was great! Due to the fish it does have a smell but it's tolerable. I think anyone who enjoys sushi like I do would be 100% okay with the smell of fresh fish. It is definitely not an overwhelming smell though, it's a faint smell that you get used to after a few minutes.

Love this Austin gem on SoCo. They have incredible nonalcoholic drinks that are a pleasant surprise for those who don’t drink. I tried the bao which was woooow! The sushi is phenomenal and tastes so clean. The presentation of each dish adds such a layer of perfection to your experience. We were able to get in on a Saturday night after a 15 min wait around 8:30pm…that alone is a win in my book. I’ve been here many times but finally am writing a review hoping others who want to come do make the trip down to this spot. One thing I really love about Lucky Robot is the ambiance inside. This night we were sat in a fun spot that had a swing as the seat and we faced a huge window for top tier people watching as hundreds walked by. Lastly, the staff are outstanding and give you the upmost diligent service. I always have a great time chatting with whoever is helping me from the hostesses to the servers. All are so kind and take tons of pride in representing their incredible place of work. Always a 10/10, so so recommend!

Absolute excellent food. The chicken Karagge (not sure if I spelled it correctly) was unbelievably scrumptious and out of this world. Also the sushi plates were amazing. Everything was good, but the service wasn’t very attentive. And the seating was uncomfortable. Still a pretty good experience overall and highly recommend it!

Cute place located in a good shopping and other food district. Street and close parking. It has traditional Japanese seating and normal design. Probably can do 2-6 for seating. We did not have a reservation however I do recommend it if you want to be sure to get a seat. The food was great excerpt for the ramen. I would not come here for ramen. But the Bao buns, and everything else was delicious. There is indoor and outdoor seating.

Perfect perfect perfect. What a treasure of a place. Every dish hit, every drink was perfectly recommended, there were no mistakes made. The crowd was a mix of locals and tourists ranging in ages from 14 to 45. They have swing seating, and fake plants but they care about you, I swear! Get the sake flight ✈️ or just the Dassan Blue Sake, its such a unique taste with elements of pear, citrus, and orange. I can't wait to go back.
Abigail T — Google review
I had the best sushi here 7 years ago and was looking forward for a return. However today’s experience was drastically different. I ordered the same thing (a bowl of Chirashi”), the fish along with other toppings are the thinnest slices I’ve ever seen. Not to mention the quality was also questionable. I look at this 1mm thick fish and avocado and felt speechless (see my pictures). Wow, this place has reduced itself to such level. I won’t be back again.
H X — Google review
Lucky Robot is such a fun spot! The whole vibe is upbeat and energetic, with funky decor and a lively atmosphere that makes it feel different from any other sushi place I’ve been to. It’s the kind of restaurant where you can just relax, enjoy yourself, and soak in the experience. The food was amazing! Everything feels thoughtfully put together, from the presentation to the taste. Chef Kevin made the night even better with his welcoming personality and great energy. He fit right in with the playful, fun atmosphere and made the experience feel personal. This is definitely a place I’ll be coming back to, especially to try the tasting menu (but only with Kevin). If you’re looking for delicious sushi in a cool, vibrant setting, Lucky Robot is the spot!

Eberly is a chic American dining and lounging destination with a rich history and stylish ambiance. Named after Angelina Eberly, it celebrates risk takers, creative minds, and liberated thinkers. The historic Cedar Tavern bar from Greenwich Village adds to its allure. Visitors can capture the adventurous spirit at the legendary bar or in the study room while enjoying classic dishes with a local twist.
Photos of dinner weren’t taken because that is how GOOD the food was. If you are looking for a restaurant that can master seafood, steak, AND chicken. This is your place, down to the dessert every bite left our plates completely empty. Can’t wait to come back again and again. Having experienced such an amazing experience in a while, great date night, birthday dinner, girls dinner, your parents are town visiting, ANYTHING just come here. And best of all not overpriced like every other place around. Run don’t walk here 💯

My experience at Eberly was one of a kind. My colleagues and I went here for dinner and could not stop raving about the food. Every dish was unique and full of flavor. I had the Texas Wagyu entree and the meat was so tender I could not stop eating. The side of roasted potatoes and Japanese rolls are a must. Also, the ambiance is beautiful. I can't remember the name of our server - maybe Matt? - he was fantastic and coursed out our dinner perfectly. Oh, and the best part is that they have complimentary valet. Can't wait to take my friends here!

The food was okay but definitely not what you’d expect for the price. Very limited menu and definitely not kid friendly even for a 10yr old. On top of that, they automatically add a 3% health and wellness fee to your bill, which you find out about at the end when you get the bill. The service was extremely slow and the place was uncomfortably loud despite the fact that it was not packed. I won't say it was a disaster but I will probably not go there again.

First time at Eberly and it won’t be my last. This place is so lovely, beautiful interior, the food was great. I got to try the bread which was meh but the wagyu strip was very delicious. Ordered a medium rare but it came out as a medium which was abit disappointing but didn’t want to make a fuss out of it so I ate it.

Hey, I came to this place earlier today and I really liked it. I enjoyed the food — I especially liked the cheaper filter coffee, which was cooked perfectly with a great taste. We ordered chicken roast as well; the top layer was crispy, the inside was cooked well, and it was very flavorful. We also ordered pasta, but it wasn’t cooked properly. Overall, the food was really good

The atmosphere is really awesome! The setting is really unique and beautiful. They have unique dishes. We had the milk rolls, cheese board, half chicken, rigatoni, and fried cabbage. The pricing is decent for what you get. I find it off putting to get charged a “3% Health and wellness” extra tax on the bill. I would prefer to be charged more for the food instead of seeing a random extra tax fee. Long story short, If you are looking for a fun night out, I would recommend!

The seafood restaurant Catfish Parlour South serves Southern-accented dishes in a casual dinerlike setting. They have consistently delicious fried catfish, and their partner has grown up in Houston and said the inside reminded him of childhood. The crawfish was great with great seasoning, while the sides were tasty too.
Haven't been to the Catfish Parlour in a long time. The atmosphere is cozy with classic music (50s) playing in the background, old photos from the good ole days, and pleasant staff The blackened red fish with crab and crawfish was cooked perfectly. The catfish plate was great too. Our server was humorous, professional, cool Looking forward to coming back! ❤️

Pricey for the amount of food. Mac n cheese could’ve been more seasoned. Loved that they gave us free hush puppy sticks though. The bread pudding was my favorite item. Great service and homey atmosphere.

I would've given this place a 5 star rating if it wasn't for the rude security guard at the entrance. Food was superb.... everything was delicious. Service would've gotten 5 stars but waitress forgot my appetizers. Super friendly and fast service tho. Atmosphere was okay

This review will speak for those from Louisiana/Mississippi. My fiancé and I are from the hearts of seafood so we walked in with high expectations, naturally. We tried the crawfish because why not, let’s see what’s up! It was so boring. The crawfish are boiled in water that is NOT seasoned. Only the outside of the crawfish were seasoned. While the outside of the crawfish was flavorful, I shouldn’t have to put the whole crawfish in my mouth for some flavor. To add, it was $12 a pound! The catfish was good! Wasn’t the best but definitely normal flavoring for fried catfish! My fiance says his side of fried okra was one of the best he’s ever had. My mashed potatoes and gravy and Mac and cheese lacked flavor. The portion sizes for sides are literally an ice cream scooper size. This place was really busy, and we couldn’t and still don’t see why.
Amanda G — Google review
Visited during lunch on a Wednesday with a party of three. Our server, Riley, was super attentive and friendly. As always, the hush puppies and tarter sauce were on point. I ordered the Lite Catfish plate with fries and pinto beans. The catfish was crisp. The fries are coated, and while they were nicely cooked, I am not a fan, personally. The pinto beans were good. I also ordered fried oysters. They were unremarkable, and atad on the small side. I ordered the bread pudding for dessert. It is not overly sweet, and very light. My companion ordered the blackberry cobbler and liked it very much. Before tip, the bill was $92, so a bit pricey.

Came here for lunch with a co-worker. I've always wanted to check this place out. The menu they have is incredibly confusing. Chef Ramsey would have a heart attack. The server was very demanding on what we wanted to order. I was seriously confused by that menu and everything says dinner. I finally just said country fried steak hoping they had it. They did. Our waitress was attentive took our orders and brought us hush puppies. They were actually pretty good. Never tried them before. No lie the country fried steak had a good presentation but it was crap. So chewy couldn't even swallow it. Terrible. Overall a real gross experience. Some place out of the 80's. Lol, doubt I'll ever return there.
Abcdefg — Google review
So I ordered through Uber eats. I did a pick up order and there was a promo for buy one get one free on the all American plate combo which was amazing. I got four plates for 33 bucks. The food was delicious. I got two spicy catfish plates w popcorn shrimp and 3 sides and two original plates. The catfish was really good. As was the popcorn shrimp. Cooked perfectly. Our sides were hush puppies, fries, green beans and bacon, Black Eyed Peas and coleslaw. The coleslaw had a different taste more of a vinegar salad, but that was also Good and their sauces are incredible. The atmosphere was very family and friendly very welcoming. Maybe next time we eat there we’ll dine in and the staff were awesome. Very friendly and welcoming.

I love this restaurant, I've been eating here for years. But I hadn't been in a couple years, so I was excited to have my favorite old standbys the coleslaw and the pinto beans and the hush puppies. But this time I tried something new and it really really good! I had the fish and chips instead of the fried catfish and the white fish and the batter used in the fish and chips dish was just fantastic. Now I can't decide if I want to get the fried catfish next time or get the fish and chips plate again, they're both so good!

Neapolitan restaurant
Restaurant
Bufalina Pizza is a popular spot in Austin, known for its handcrafted Neapolitan pies made with artisanal ingredients. Since opening in East Austin in 2013, it has become a go-to destination for pizza and natural wine enthusiasts. The restaurant's cool ambiance, featuring bare Edison bulbs and unfinished walls, adds to its underground clubhouse vibe.
Flavor on everything was absolutely exquisite! I felt like I was transported back to Italy, truly!!! The cacio e pepe was better than we had in Rome a couple years ago. They don’t take reservations for parties 4 and under, but we didn’t have a problem waiting on a Sunday night. Wait staff were very friendly and helpful. I can’t wait to go back next time I’m in Austin!
Jane S — Google review
This place serves one of the best Neapolitan pizza in Austin. The vodka and Fresca pizza we ordered came in with bubbly crust and rich sauce. We liked everything especially the decadent stracciatella and their extensive wine list
Jingqi Y — Google review
This was the best food we’ve ate while in Austin and also one of the best pizzas I’ve had in general. Thin dough, topped with good quality and fresh ingredients and most importantly it wasn’t greasy - as a whole it was a really good Neapolitan pizza. However I need to echo other reviews mentioning awful service, the owner who was serving us was quite rude and made us feel very uncomfortable. The restaurant was also super loud but we didn’t plan on staying for too long so it wasn’t a massive issue.
Aleksandra K — Google review
I'm between 3-4 stars for this place because I loved the pizza but the service was not 4 stars. We loved the mushroom pizza. It was the absolute perfect blend of toppings in my opinion. They serve a Neapolitan-style pizza —perfectly blistered crust, high-quality ingredients, and a menu that knows how to keep things simple and stellar. But the service? It borders on indifferent, and was timed not for our convenience but theirs. I was still chewing my last bite when they cleared the plates and they wiped the table while I was still eating though my partner had finished. You’ll get your food, but don’t expect warmth or much patience with questions. Still, the pizza is solidly delicious. Come for the pie, not the hospitality.
Rachel B — Google review
Delicious but the waiter was not kind. I said thank you one hundred times and I received not one “you are welcome” or acknowledgment. He poured water, he took our orders, he did his job but showed no kindness or a smile. That negatively impacted my experience. Furthermore I asked for hot sauce. He said we have chili oil. I said great. Then they bring me an unusually large amount of chili oil and I see at the very end a charge for $3 for chili oil. That is ridiculous. I won’t come back.
Diego L — Google review
Went to Bufalina for happy hour for the first time and I can’t believe I’ve slept on this deal for so long. Happy hour is from 4 PM to 530 every day of the week. We arrived a few minutes before 4 PM and were among the first few groups to get seated. This is probably the key because the happy hour is so short. All wine bottles below $100 or half off all pizzas are half off which is quite a steal. We ordered the mushroom and the potato pizza and I would definitely get them again. The pizzas are good size and the dough is very fluffy. We also ordered some apps like the stracciatella which was mindblowingly good, had great balance with the tomato jam, cheese and balsamic. The Caesar salad was also amazing, we added the anchovies too. They have a few spots in their parking lot, but there’s also street parking too.
Karen Q — Google review
Cozy, Elevated, and Full of Flavor We had another amazing evening at Bufalina. The service was top-notch — friendly, knowledgeable, and offered great recommendations that really made the night. We started with the stracciatella, which was creamy and fresh, followed by the pappardelle pasta and a Margherita pizza with pepperoni — both absolutely delicious and made with clear care and quality ingredients. We ended with the coffee ice cream, which tasted like an affogato in the best way — rich, bold, and smooth. Bufalina is a quaint, intimate spot that delivers high-end flavor without feeling stuffy. Every dish felt intentional and well-crafted. Highly recommend for a relaxed but exceptional dining experience.

There is a chance, a slim one I must admit, that this dinner was copied, from an ancient lost scroll, now found, decoded, and delivered to us, The Last Supper. Had a great experience here for a bday dinner! Our server Toni was super sweet. The food is phenomenal. Loved the oysters, beef cheek entree, and the citrus salad. And incredible desserts of chocolate crème brûlée and horchata ice cream with espresso! I appreciated the portion sizes and amazing flavors. Super cute ambiance in the outdoor patio!

Verbena was a perfect pick for my wife's birthday this year. The open picturesque space mixed with shareable dishes made for a great evening with family and friends. Our server was nice and very helpful with suggestions that we may have overlooked. Our food was beyond delicious with flavors out of this world. Although this wasn't our first choice, it will definitely be going forward. I highly recommend Verbena Food & Drink for your next Austin visit.

Went here for the pancakes and they did not disappoint. They had churro pancakes and were gracious enough to make my son plain pancakes since that's all he wanted. Beautiful presentation and great taste. Equipped with a very nice seating area. They have a limited menu and a great looking bar. Definitely a must try if your in downtown Austin.

Conveniently located in the lobby of the Canopy hotel, Verbena is the perfect location for both a quick bite or a nice meal! We visited twice for breakfast and had a great experience both times. The menu had a good variety of simple, healthy staples and inventive, more indulgent plates. I really liked their open concept kitchen and patio seating.

This place is average at best, nothing special. We had to wait for quite some time until a host showed up to the host stand to greet us. The food is okay, lacks depth and true flavor. There’s not one bite we had that we were thoroughly impressed by. I’ve had better items from the frozen aisle of Trader Joe’s. Food was also semi warm instead of hot. The service is really great and the ambiance is really nice though. Further details on food items ordered: Dumplings: the sauce was supposed to be the star of the show but was just meh, okay. It was warm at best and lacked true flavor. The Birria inside the dumplings was good. Carnitas flatbread: the bread tasted nice, one of the only things that tasted fresh. The red onions completely overpowered the dish though. Concept is good, execution could be much, much better. The pulpo was my favorite thing although it could have been better in flavor. Still just okay. Another huge disappointment was in the cocktails department. I asked if they could sub one of their cocktail vodka drinks with gin and they said no, which is absurd. I asked if they couldn’t sub the spirit, if they could create something similar and they would not. Lacks creative thinking skills in this department, it’s truly not that hard to sub or create something similar with a very similar spirit. Very disappointing. With so many restaurants to compete with, I’d step it up if I were them.

J Carver is a new steakhouse located at 509 Rio Grande St, brought to you by the team behind ATX Cocina and Red Ash. The restaurant features an oyster bar, chop house, and an extensive selection of wines and liquors. Visitors have praised the dry-aged New York strip for being perfectly cooked and the fresh oysters. However, some felt that certain appetizers missed the mark in terms of seasoning.
Returned to J Carver's yesterday after about a five-month hiatus, and the experience was absolutely flawless from start to finish. Jake at valet remembered us immediately, even though we arrived in a different car from our usual—that kind of recognition speaks volumes. The hostesses graciously ushered us to the waiting area while they prepared our seats at the bar, which is where we always prefer to sit. Seeing Jessie and Tate behind the bar was like reconnecting with old friends. Jessie makes an incredible passion fruit tequila spritzer, and yesterday she added a special touch with fresh passion fruit for garnish. They were attentive as always, anticipating our drink needs and keeping us informed about menu changes and specials. I even noticed the new knife selection they're using—small details that show their commitment to excellence. The Wagyu ribeye special was nothing short of exceptional. When I asked about modifying the risotto, they happily substituted a wild mushroom risotto that paired perfectly with the steak. My wife's shrimp was excellent, and we started with a steak tartare that set the perfect tone for the meal. What truly sets J Carver's apart is how everyone creates this warm, graceful atmosphere. Keri is clearly running a top-notch establishment where attention to detail is remarkable; they even remembered my preferred temperature for steak without prompting. This is truly one of Austin's premier dining destinations—exceptional food and drinks, of course, but it's the way they make you feel so genuinely welcome that elevates the experience to something special. Will definitely be returning more frequently.

The Food was delicious, we shared two massive Tomahawks and a bunch of sides and some starters including the homemade garlic bread, bone marrow, hamachi and oysters. All were of really good quality and prepared to perfection. Our waiter was very helpful in picking our food and even recommended the steak to be cooked to a certain temperature which we would have done different but definitely did not regret listening to him as they turned out perfect. Cozy atmosphere, pretty dark generally but the tables themselves were well lit.

OUTSTANDING! Expensive, hell yes! Great Service, absolutely! Wonderful cocktails, yes! Great wine list with some really solid and affordable options, check!! Worth the visit and spend, yes every-time!!! The bone in tenderloin was amazing, as was the crab fried rice. Great atmosphere and can be super busy. We loved our visit.

J Carver is our go-to for a special night out! The food is phenomenal! One of the few places in austin with true caviar service! The lobster bisque is delicious and I almost always choose the Dover sole! Portions are very generous! And the staff is fantastic - very alert and quick to make sure everything is perfect.

This was our first time to dine at J. Carver’s. It was amazing. Ryan, our server, made the entire experience memorable. He was very patient as we asked questions. We were celebrating my mother’s birthday, which did not go unnoticed. The had a card and cake for her. Everyone, including the valet staff, was very nice. We will be returning.

Amazing quality food and extremely impressive service. You feel like the most important guest from the moment you walk in. We were so impressed and my husband immediately scheduled a business dinner there a few days after. I also wanted to say a huge thank you to the team for preparing the most delicious plain white rice and bread to go for me as my first real meal post emergency surgery.

AhhhMazing. So we check this place out because we got a recommendation from a local earlier that day. Excellent date night experience. Though it won't come cheap, you get what you pay for! We enjoyed everything! Recommend that you make a reservation. We reserved the bar seating and I'm glad that we did. The bar chairs were tall, padded, and vintage. Really comfortable. Plenty of room for our drinks and meal. We were there on a Sunday night. It was lively and full, but not loud. Upscale, 50s steakhouse vibe. Dark and romantic. Huge wine list. Steaks are aged and made to order. Oyster bar too, which we ordered a variety from. LOVED! From sweet and soft to salty and briney and somewhere in between. Their horseradish reminds me of the horseradish at St Elmo's Steakhouse in Indianapolis. You will be well cared for here. The owner of this place, also owns Red Ash. He has staff that have worked for him for over 10 years and say they always will. That is very telling. It's a great place. Highly recommend.

Nestled in the vibrant heart of Austin, Black Star Co-op Pub & Brewery stands out as a unique gem in the craft beer scene. This member-owned cooperative is not just about brewing exceptional beers; it embodies a democratic spirit where everyone has a voice. With an expansive industrial space and a pet-friendly patio, it's an inviting spot for all.
Black Star was recommended to me by a friend who travels to Austin for work. He noted this was one of his favorite spots. We stopped in for dinner and a few beers around 8pm on a Sunday night. I had the portabella sandwich with the garlic parmesan fries and my wife ordered the smash burger. Both were delicious! We tried several beers, all very good with my favorite being the porter. Staff were awesome, with very helpful suggestions for beer recommendations. Visiting from NJ, not sure when we'd be back here again but would absolutely visit her again.

Amazing burger - juicy and savory; cooked to perfection; served with a special sauce, plus pickles, lettuce, tomatoes and cheese on a soft golden brown bun! And unbelievably delicious golden, super-crispy, salty, battered, french fries - far from the ordinary; cooked and served in their own individual clean, shiny, little deep-fry basket. Delicious Rambler sparkling (seltzer) water in a can, poured over a fresh glass of clean ice. Brewery on premises for local flavors. Friendly, fun atmosphere, (they had “trivia night” when we were there; helpful, friendly staff; clean tables and comfortable seating; a serious darts playing area; pleasant outdoor patio overlooking park and interesting street scenes; parking nearby and across the street. Plenty of cool businesses across the street as well. Good prices; great value. Definitely worth checking out when visiting Austin.

Came in for some burgers and beers with friends. The decor is great and the staff are extremely friendly and helpful. My husband and I both god the black star burger while our friends had the beyond burger. Both my husband and I felt our burgers lacked seasoning and we couldn’t taste the pub sauce (no idea what it was supposed to be). Our friends beyond burger had lots more flavor. The fries were great though! As long as they all aren’t over done and completely crispy the soft center ones were delicious and seasoned well. Beers/cider: I decided not to get anything by my husband had a hops on while our friends had mango hops on and a cider. All were delicious. My husband actually meant to buy some can but we forgot. You could help yourself to water, ketchup, silverware and napkins. You also bus your own table. I’d come back but have some different food.

Great brewery with great vibes. Friendly staff, great beers, and large space with lots of seating. The Fructis IPA was one of the best IPAs I’ve had in the city so far. Parking is very limited. Coop so no tipping here. Happy hour Tuesday- Friday! Great food selection on the menu. Inclusive and welcoming environment. The chicken Tikka fried sandwich is a delicious combo of a classic fried chicken sandwich and great curry flavors.

Great local, neighborhood place. A cooperative, where members and owners actually work on site, and get to know you! Great beer and cider produced at the brewery on site. Food is good too; the spicy chicken sandwich was outstanding and the pie flight is a tasty delight that you can share with one, two or three other people! Be aware, it can be very noisy on weekends with a full house and live music/ trivia, and your food can take an hour or so to come out. If that's not your scene, go on a weekday...

Nice little place. Unique menu items. The burger was very juicy and the hoecakes were great, basically moist pancake shaped cornbread. The local brews provided a new option. Not too bad. You order the drinks and food at the bar but it is worth a try!

Abel's on the Lake is a popular spot nestled in a scenic cove on Lake Austin, offering diverse American cuisine and an extensive tap list. It's perfect for a relaxing date or a fun night out with friends, providing stunning lake views. With over 63 beers on tap and delicious food, it's a go-to destination for those who enjoy lakeside dining.
The food was great here. The waiters are slow and other waiters approach our table 3 times with other people food. There were four of use all males and we were advised that we could move to a 6 seater table. When we moved the manager Carlos came over being very dramatic and made us move to another 4 seater table. This was very embarrassing. Not to mention be then went off on the waiter. Not professional at all.

The food was great! I had fish and fries and my husband had the shrimp tacos. The view is breathtaking. Price was reasonable for the location and food. Parking was a bit tough to find so we eventually used the valet service. It can get pretty crowded and I think they may need more staff. Overall though everything was fine, probably be back if in town again.

Had to wait 20 minutes to be seated when clearly seats were available, this was for my birthday, then the food which I had a cheeseburger came out about 40 minutes later. The food was the only saving grace about this place along with the view of the lake. Disappointed with the service and if can over look that then I’m sure you will have a good time.

Beautiful setting on the water, great service and fresh tasty food! I was here on a cooler day and the patio wasn't open, but still a great experience. The deep fried cheese sticks were over there top. Deep fried pickles were also amazing! The beer on tap was also a mind blower! Give them a try? YES!!

Beautiful views and beach bum feel/attitude. We loved the views and location right on the lake. Food was very good. Ordered stuffed jalapenos for starters and they were excellent. Salmon and burgers for dinner which were also very good. Side of brussels sprouts were amazing. Would give this a 5 star review but it was obvious that they were severely understaffed on the patio. No one was in the indoor dining area We felt sorry for our server who apologized numerous times but it was obvious it wasnt her fault. Food was very slow to come out. Would have been nice to have had a manager come out and talk to diners and explain what was going on or maybe offer comping our starter but nothing.

They have a great view of the lake. Chicken Fried Steak plate tasted like beef for some reason. Not quite sure why is that. Calamari are great though. Great place to hang out, have some light appetizers. Waiter is great but there are no hostess to get us to our table, weirdly.

Very nicely place for a lunch, drinks, or appetizers with a great view. The staff were nice and friendly. They were able to advise on the menu items. The menu had a good offering of lighter items as well as nice drinks. The outside seating was a little rickety, but that happens with the outside air. They could have used some more items that include salad and a protein. The vegetable offerings were good - loved the brussel sprouts. We had the salmon, it was prepared well and was tasty. One comment-The blackened salmon plate was very salty, so need to take care in how they prepare it so as not to over salt the fish and the entire plate. Overall the food was very good. Tasty food and a very nice ambiance. We enjoyed the experience.

The laid-back vibe invites diners to enjoy a meal dressed casually yet stylishly, making it an ideal spot for both relaxed lunches and special dinners.
I’m here on business and was recommended to try this place for some good food. When I tell you they did NOT disappoint….we were seated right away and then given the specials and answered all our questions. For an appetizer I got the Jerk Chicken Quesadillas and they were seasoned to perfection. For my entree, I got the stuffed shrimp with creamy spinach and rice pilaf. The rice had a hint of spice, nothing too drastic 6.5/10. The spinach caught me off guard, it was so flavorful, 10/10. The stuffed shrimp was spectacular, 9.5/10. Only took .5 off because I would’ve preferred fried, but it was delicious nonetheless. My co-worker had the blue shrimp plate. I tasted some of his fries and they were seasoned to perfection as well. They did not disappoint and it’s definitely worth trying if you’ve never been.

We had a reservation at 630pm on Saturday evening. We were greeted at the host stand. The female host was pleasant and welcoming. We were advised that water was shut off for the building, but the restaurant seemed to manage as we did not note any issues during our dinner experience. Our party of six was seated within 10 minutes and our server welcomed us by serving bread and butter baskets and Taking our drink order. He was very friendly and patient. Drinks were delivered promptly Along with our appetizer and our server took our main course orders. I had the sesame encrusted tuna salad with mango. The tuna was not over cooked and I enjoyed the salad. The por - boy was one of the other main courses we ordered and although looked good it was overloaded with fried shrimp and only a small amount of coleslaw and veggies… this would have been a better sandwich without all that fried wrapped in bread. Overall a good experience and friendly customer focused service. The food was fairly generic to other seafood restaurants but it is a nice place for family dinners and we did enjoy our dinner experience.

We came for Saturday brunch. We were greeted immediately by a super personal hostess who seated us at her “favorite table.” The decor is wonderful with a mix of wood and blue lights and glassware. I ordered the grilled salmon avocado toast and could not be happier with it. The serving was large and the two poached eggs on top were perfection. Connor was our server and did a great job of getting our orders correct and taking great care of us. The beignets were divine!

Update - Turns out all the staff is this good. Great spot in the Hill Country. Pro tip: ask for John to be your server. This man could easily work at any of the top spots downtown Austin, but you are fortunate enough he works here out in the Hill Country. Excellent seafood in a surprising location. I loved their main lobster omelet and the crab appetizer. While the price and quality are high end the vibe is laid back. Most patrons were in nice jeans with a button down / polo or sundress. The patio is ok. The wine cellar area is the most aesthetically pleasing to sit in. Come for seafood. Stay for the excellent hospitality.

Phenomenal experience. Started with an immediate friendly greeting from the hostess when we walked in the door. She seemed happy to see us… Our service and attention from Gray, our server, was delightful, expert, prompt, helpful, and comfortably friendly. Food was good too… Really enjoyed ourselves in the patio. (Big contrast from the League across the street where we started our evening and were 100% neglected. The League was appalling and clearly staff/management there do not care to serve.)

Seareinas is a vibrant addition to North Central Austin, offering a lively and colorful dining experience with Mexican-style seafood and drinks. This establishment is part of the Gabriela's Group and promises signature cocktails alongside its delectable offerings.
My favorite seafood place in Austin. Amazing drinks, sushi, service and atmosphere. Music is very loud (i love that) so is not a place for everyone. Mexican banda all night, strong drinks. You will have a good time.
Benedet L — Google review
This used to be one of my favorite seafood spot because of drinks and food. I have been here plenty of times, but this, by far, was the worst experience ever. It's a shame because the drinks and food here are delicious. Food is flavorful (spicy) and always has an impressive neat presentation. The female in the red is the manager, maybe also a server. As you can see by the look on her face, she walks around with a rude attitude and acts so arrogant. My husband tried waiving her down because we had been waiting for about 20 minutes without service. She made eye contact with him, she ignored him, and walked a circle around the restaurant just to make it back to the computer station to gossip. We had an ugly unprofessional confrontation because she didn't like me taking a picture of her. They add a 20% gratuity to your bill even if your party isn't large. I don't have a problem with that. I understand the service industry, and a lot of customers don't know how to tip. But if you're gonna demand an automatic tip, the least you can do is provide decent service. Get better management.
Maria L — Google review
Our drinks were so pretty and tasted good! I was so excited to try the sushi, as I have heard good things. When I tried to order the sushi, our waitress said there was only 2 sushi plates available put of the 10 listed. I settled for the 'suchilote steak;' it was horrible. Plating was unappealing and it didn't taste fresh. The piece of steak inside of the sushi was TINY. Not worth $17. I would come here on a night out, but not to eat. Do with this information as you will.

I recently visited a Mariscos spot in Austin that serves a variety of pacific seafood dishes . While some of the places I tried didn’t quite hit the mark, this one was a standout. I walked in unaware it was Ladies Night, which added an unexpected but fun touch to the atmosphere. We started with the Ceviche Mixto Tostada, followed by the Mayito Roll and Pulpo a las Brasas. The freshness of the seafood was undeniable, and everything was perfectly seasoned and well-portioned. The drinks were also spot on—strong but balanced, and the staff was attentive throughout. The space offered plenty of seating both inside and out, and I found the prices to be quite reasonable for the quality. All in all, I was really impressed by the experience. If you’re in the area, this is a must try . For any one visiting from San Antonio this definitely worth checking out!

Terrible Service and Declining Food Quality I'm really disappointed with my recent experience at this restaurant. What used to be a reliable spot for a good meal has gone downhill, and the service was shockingly bad. From the moment we arrived, we were seated at a dirty table that hadn't been cleaned. We had to ask for napkins and clean it ourselves. Our waitress was inattentive and seemed annoyed whenever we asked for anything. It felt like since gratuity was already included, there was no incentive to provide decent service. The food quality has also declined significantly. It's sad to see a place that once cared about its customers now treating them with such indifference and attitude. We were just trying to enjoy a meal out, but this experience was far from enjoyable.

The food is amazing, I hear they have a fun atmosphere during weekends/nights. Sat at the bar, the bartender was super great, her name was Yazmin, I think. She was friendly and super attentive. The shrimp seafood boil is such a good deal, it’s a lot for cheap and it’s delicious, recommend! Update: food is still good as ever! Our server was alright. We waited 15 minutes before she came up to us and asked if we were ready to order. Zero customer service. After that, she only stopped by a handful of times to see if we needed anything else. She took forever to bring drinks and food out. We asked another server for a beer and he came back two minutes later, at least some of the staff is good. They had some live music which was amazing. Love it here besides the lousy waitresses. We spent $87 for two, we got a tostada, sushi, a soup, 2 beers, a michelada, 12 lb Louisiana style shrimp. Great deal, good spot to eat with family, a date, friends. Why loud, wouldn’t recommend if you prefer quiet spaces.

$7 - 12 oz bottle lone star, $10 canned seltzers, automatic 20% gratuity. Drinks are expensive, even for Austin. (2024) Well styled cocktail bar venue on Congress. Building has some neat architectural features such as a spiral staircase, and a draping garden outdoor patio on the back roof. Bartenders were friendly, good service. $1 East Coast oysters on Tuesdays until 10:00 p.m. I attended a Valentine's Day event that was a private DJ'd dance party and burlesque show upstairs. The event was really good, too, but that's not particularly related to the venue. So if you're looking for a neat space to host your event, the back patio is cool and good weather.

Unique church themed bar. First floor is very low key and calm. Second floor has 2 DJs. Indoor and outdoor. Cool setup, but the bar was relatively empty on a sat night (10-11pm) and we didn’t fully vibe with the atmosphere. Drinks were good.

The place and building were beautiful and very unique. The upstairs is only open at certain times not all day but they did let me go take a look even though it wasn’t open yet. They charge manhattan prices for cocktails definitely pricier then most places in the city. I’ve had better cocktails downtown not quite as expensive. It is a small place with seating outside. Might come to try happy hour with some friends. Service was a little hectic since they were preparing to open the upstairs.

Had a fun time here, came out for more of a night spot than anything else. DJ was energetic, but did not always read the crowd well and did not ever change up the style of music which could have helped the overall energy. Drinks were good. Outside area upstairs was pretty cool, but not much out there (no bar or anything). Had a fun time, and not overly crowded.

LOVE this place. We to austin for a bachelorette party. We just wandered around and came here on a whim. I’m so happy we did!! Their cocktails were the BEST out of all the places we went to in Austin.
Samantha S — Google review
Upstairs service was amazing. Burger and fries were good. All the drinks were yummy. There are a couple of seats upstairs, but there is more seating on the outside patio. The table and our seats were all wobbly, so our drinks did spill a few times when the food was coming out. There was a DJ later in the evening, but no one was dancing, the music was kind of lame so we left. Overall feel like this place looks cooler online than it is in real life. It is very cute tho, and is great for the instagram girls.

Wonderful new cocktail bar on Congress Avenue. Fun and unique interiors and a tasteful cocktail menu. Loved the “Pride” cocktail. Staff was definitely LGBTQ friendly. The outdoor space was wonderful already but I think they have a few additions planned to that space.

Seafood restaurant
Mexican restaurant
Nestled in a vibrant setting adorned with an eye-catching octopus mural, Alcomar is a delightful Latin-inspired eatery that celebrates the rich flavors of Central and South America. This seafood haven, brought to life by the talented El Chile team, offers an enticing menu for brunch, lunch, and dinner featuring modern interpretations of traditional dishes. Guests can indulge in fresh oysters on the half shell or savor zesty ceviche alongside standout options like lobster enchiladas and scallop veracruzano.
Still very good, since the first time I visited. Definitely, try the lobster enchiladas with avocado-spinach-radish salad, saffron rice and medium-grilled hanger steak, large enough to share. Fragrant foods dance around the palate. Especially, if u start with the pulpo (octupus) tostadas & wood-grilled calamari first. Share all plates for a tapas-style meal. New oversize pillows on wood benches makes it extra nice. One could almost hear the ocean from here.

This is a great place 4 interesting takes on traditional Mexican food. The butternut squash stuffed poblano pepper the octopus tostada the chicken mole raw oysters we're all excellent

Fresh and tasty ceviche. Although, entrees are a bit overpriced for their quality. The staff ia incredibly friendly though and it's a good place for smaller sharable plates.

Our first experience was attending a chef's dinner and it was amazing. Great food and fun family style seating.
Marissa R — Google review
The shrimp pozole is fresh and pumpkin seed salsa with the escabeche on point.
Roger L — Google review
Overpriced and under delivered. I order the lobster enchiladas knowing that it should be a good pairing and was willing to pay the $25+ for the dish. Boy was I wrong. At best, the restaurant should charge $15 for the dish. The enchilada was so crispy on the bottom that even with the knife provided, I still had to saw like a lumberjack. I will say though the service was on point and our waitress was attentive and quick. I will not be back though. Too many great options in the city.

I have been here multiple times and the food and service has always been amazing! Whether it was for brunch or dinner with a large party, the cuisine and cocktails are spot on. I love how creative the menu is and the house made margaritas pair perfectly with the food. Definitely recommend any of the seafood because it is amazingly fresh!
