I would highly recommend everyone to try Depot! The overall atmosphere of the restaurant is incredibly friendly and comfortable, and the service from the staff is absolutely amazing! A special shout out to the lovely Alex! She is the sweetest, most wonderful, and most energetic person I’ve ever met. We were truly drawn to her warmth and enthusiasm. She took great care of us (and every other customer!) throughout our visit, and when she found out that today was my partner’s and my 9th anniversary, she surprised us with a complimentary dessert as a gift. We felt so grateful and genuinely happy. On top of that, the food and drinks we ordered were absolutely delicious! We will definitely be coming back again. You guys made our anniversary so special! You absolutely made my day! Thank you so much!

Would rate 5 if not for the experience we had from the host today. Spent $150+ for two people dinner around 7pm Nov 2. Everything was amazing - from food, chef and waiters except for the host today. We were seated in frontbar and politely request the host today guy with curly hair with glasses and piercing if we can move as it is too cold in the front bar and he was like I will put you in the waiting list and need to wait 20 mins, and he even said he cant do anything about the aircondition. like are you serious we are already seated. And we are freezing infront bar. Plus we can see vacant tables, would understand if it’s busy and no avail seats. We are regular - eat at least once a week , refer u guys to friends and fam but toay is total disappointment coz of him. He even said after we pay after and after giving feedback, like come next time and il give u better seats. Like girl… where’s your customer service and have u not know how to look after regulars… as soon I see next time he is the host il immediately walk away. I hope manager or owner can read this and provide feedback to him.

I highly recommend this restaurant for a delightful dining experience. The lamb was exceptionally tender and flavorful, and the sauce complemented it perfectly. The snapper sliders were delightful, featuring fresh fish that was truly enjoyable. Unfortunately, they were out of oysters that night, which was a disappointment. However, the potato skins are a must-try; they come topped with cheese and are wonderfully crispy and aromatic. On the other hand, the steak was a bit average. It required more chewing and lacked the juiciness I expected. The mulled wine was sweet and provided a warm, comforting feeling. The complimentary hummus served with pita bread was delicious and a nice touch to the meal. Overall, this restaurant is definitely worth a visit!

The meal we had in Depot was superb. High quality food, with a no-fuss but creative play in textures and flavour. Not only was the food good, but the service was excellent. The lovely redhead at the bar (unfortunately didn’t get her name) made our night! She was really fun and friendly!!

We stumbled up on Depot randomly and absolutely loved dining there. The food was fantastic (oysters, fresh clams, skirt steak, potato skins). However the standout was the service we received from all the staff who seemed to genuinely enjoy working there. The nicest touch for me was that as we were dining as a pair, the team was very ready to adjust portions to allow us to try more items - I can't remember the last time a resto said they'd be happy to just make 1 less slider or a half portion of sides but that was the best part because we got to try all the good stuff. The meal was phenomenal - and the desserts (cookie skillet + cereal milk panna cotta) are a must try! Shout out to Hazel and team for the awesome dining experience and this will now be a place we'll either come back to or recommend to friends visiting Auckland.

Sooooo delicious! The oyster and eggplant dish was amazing 🤩 the way they prepared the eggplant was so creative, I loved it! The location and dining environment are great too, just steps away from Sky City. The staff were all lovely 🥰 handsome, pretty, and super helpful! Highly recommend!🫶🫶🫶

Heard good stuff from a food guide about Depot and I must admit that I haven’t had many good experiences with restaurants so far in New Zealand, mostly because of terrible service. I was looking for a showcase of fresh NZ produce, and I’d wanted variety (since I was alone). Alex (yes, server extraordinaire) recommended a list of things to try that would fit my brief, and it did not disappoint. The in season asparagus was so good with a lovely light taste. The snapper fish slider was lovely fresh as well (never take freshness for granted, many places use frozen stuff). The oyster had an interesting tangy dressing (unfortunately, I didn’t ask what it was) but honestly, it was good on its own. Since I had space in my tummy (and time before the All Blacks Experience), I spoke to another server (blond lady with a ponytail, sadly, I didn’t get her name) and while she recommended the marrow, I was worried about the richness and my heart health, so I opted for the suggested double cooked octopus with potatoes in capsicum sauce. So crispy! Many thanks to one and all in Depot for a great experience!

I just arrived in Auckland this Wednesday and chose this restaurant as my very first dining experience — and wow, what an unforgettable choice it was! As someone who is absolutely obsessed with oysters and cocktails, this place exceeded every expectation. The freshness, the flavour, the variety — every dish was beautifully presented and incredibly delicious. The cocktail list is creative and well-balanced, and every sip felt like perfection. But what truly elevated the night was the outstanding service from Silvana. Her warmth, professionalism, and attention to detail were simply the best I’ve experienced this year — on par with Vinesmith in Melbourne, which is saying a lot. Silvana made me feel genuinely welcomed, looked after every little detail, and her passion for hospitality truly shines through. From the food to the drinks to the ambiance and especially Silvana’s incredible service, everything was absolutely spot-on. I’ll be recommending this restaurant to everyone I know visiting Auckland — and I’ll definitely be back!

This place offers both seafoods and meat meals. Our party opted for seafoods today. Everything they served was super fresh and delicious. The place is spacious with good ambiance. You also get the beautiful view of the bay while dining. Our server was fantastic and fast and the price was just right for us. Bathroom is super clean too.

The food at Oyster & Chop was absolutely delicious. It was fresh, flavorful and beautifully presented. Every dish tasted high-quality and perfectly cooked. While the prices are on the higher side the quality of the food and the overall dining experience make it completely worth it. Excellent service and a great atmosphere too. Definitely a place to visit if you want a top-notch meal and memorable experience 😍

Took my lovely partner for her birthday and the food was super. We were taken care of when it came to ensure we ate what wouldn't trigger any allergy or discomfort. It was our first time having A5 12 Wagyu and the chef did not disappoint. Would definitely go back again for the meat! I looked at the menu 3 weeks before we were there and I was super excited to try escargot, but unfortunately it was taken off the menu. I also selected a Birthday option when I booked, but unfortunately nothing happened and made me feel like this option was misleading, but it wasn't clear what the option was there for exactly. Overall, we will be back for Wagyu.

The restaurant offers a fantastic dining experience, and the standout dish is without a doubt the T-bone steak. Cooked to a precise medium, the steak was tender, juicy, and packed with flavor, striking the perfect balance between a charred exterior and a succulent center.

Absolute amazing fine dine experience . Being a vegetarian I enjoyed the place too. Had Buffalo Milk Burrata and Parmesan Gnocchi and both were delicious . We also had Man O’ War Ironclad wine which was delicious . The deserts were delicious too

We loved our stay at the Oyster Inn. The rooms are very few and are right next to each other which is perfect for our family. It was easily accessible for my father who has mobility issues. The rooms are clean and modern . The restaurant is lively and the staff are super engaging and friendly and the food is delicious. I’m so glad we opted to stay right in town so that we could walk around, enjoy the beach and the cuteness of Waiheke Island!

Was here to celebrate with friends but perhaps due to large group our orders were delayed. 🥲 waited for approximately 45 mins, other tables finished but ours weren’t here yet. Overall still a good experience with the food — oysters, fish & chips, steak, all made to perfection and everyone enjoyed. Apart from the service (which I believe could be improved) the rest was amazing. Will be back again if I’m visiting waiheke! 🙏🏼

Great spot for my birthday lunch on Waiheke. Food was delicious. Best oysters we have had so far on our NZ holiday. We also had fish and the oyster brioche bun. All cooked beautifully, super tasty and fresh. Great wine and drinks menu - my Margarita was delish. Beers on tap were great too! Our waitress was super helpful and friendly. Highly recommend a visit if you’re on the island. Thanks for having us Oyster Inn ☺️

Couldn’t have asked for a more perfect experience! The staff were incredibly attentive and kind, the food was completely spectacular! We ordered the sharing menu of a red wine, beef pasta, tiramisu and focaccia and it was tremendous! The best pasta we’ve ever had cooked perfectly al dente in the tastiest sauce that paired beautifully with the focaccia and wine! I also got a super tasty salted caramel espresso martini that was expertly crafted served in a chilled glass. Then the tiramisu was so light and not too sweet, the perfect end to a perfect dining experience! The tables were clean, the view was perfect, the music was nice and not too loud, it was nicely busy and popular but the staff made sure our table felt special! Could not recommend this place enough!!

I've stayed at The Oyster Inn several times for extended stays, and each time Sharon, Mateo, Amanda and the rest of the team have taken such good care of me. The rooms are lovely and the food is amazing. The oysters are delicious, and every morning I was treated to a wonderful breakfast. A big thank you to everyone at the oyster inn!

A great restaurant in Oneroa for a drink with friends or dinner. An interesting menu with something for everyone and the best oysters. Highly recommend for a casual night out where the staff are friendly, wine and food selection is very good and service is excellent.

If you are spending a night or two in Oneroa on Waiheke Island, this is a great, central place to stay. With just three rooms, the Oyster Inn feels exclusive. The decor is uncluttered and calming. The Oyster Inn restaurant, only steps away from the rooms, serves excellent food and wine.

Choose this restaurant near the harbour for our first dinner in Auckland. It’s a bit pricey especially for their wines but the food is great. From the oysters to the dessert of petite four they were all good and tasty. The ambience is excellent as it’s just next to the harbour. Though it’s a seafood restaurant the braised short rib we had was very tasty and tender. When we return to Auckland before flying home perhaps we’ll return for other items.

They were by far the best I've ever had. The prawns. Ufff. I was ravenous. Excellent fresh seafood and great service. They will leave a lasting impression upon my tummy and my soul for if gluttony is a sin I am guilty.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ We tried the $39 menu at Harbourside and were blown away. The sourdough starter came out warm, perfectly chewy, and the nutty brown butter it was served with was just divine. The green-lipped mussels were fresh, plump, and sitting in the most beautiful sauce that I couldn’t get enough of. The steak was cooked beautifully, and the jus with its rich sauce took it to another level. Sides were also standouts… crisp broccolini for freshness, the cheesiest, yummiest mac & cheese, and honestly the best fries I’ve had in the city. On top of the food, the service was outstanding… attentive, warm, and genuine. The lovely girl who looked after us made the experience even better, and it’s rare to find that kind of service in the city. Highly recommend!

Fabulous views and great tasting food couldn't quite lift the poor service. We had a balcony table (as requested when we made reservation) but then waited ages for 4 tiny bits of bread as pre-starter. Luke-warm starter arrived, dropped cutlery stayed on floor, wine was poured when waiter remembered. No upselling to 2nd bottle. No upselling of aperitif cocktail. Waited over 20 mins for mains plates to be cleared after having been seen & noted by at least 3 other waiting staff. No coffee upsold. The food & wine were lovely, the ambience and views brilliant but service could have lifted this to 5 star.

was keen to try out this restaurant. The location is great but food was not as good as expected. Oysters were not cold and one had dried right off indicating it had been sitting round for a bit. Also one was v v small. mussels were tasty but some were also dry. dessert was a cheesecake which was tasty but it was very firm. Waitress was really lovely. mates fish was a little overcooked as well and her pate was not very tasty.

We came here for restaurant month and were blown away by the size of the mains. The rich steak and marrow in particular was well-cooked, flavourful and intimidating to finish! Amazing value for $55 and the harbourside setting gave off great vibes. Highly recommended!

The service at fish was absolutely appalling, it is outrageous that we had to wait more than 5 minutes for someone to attend to us while we stood at the entrance. We had mussels and crab cakes as an entree, the mussels were quite tough, on the other hand the crab cakes were delicious. For our mains we ordered the steak, fish and the duck. The fish was average but extremely light. The duck lacked flavour but was chewable. Thankfully the steak was extraordinary. This was not what we expected from fish as we have previously dined at fish. Unlike this lunch we enjoyed our past experience heavily.

We made the last minute decision to have dinner here on our final night in Auckland. Making a same day reservation online was quick and easy and took no more than 2 minutes. We didn’t read the description properly so walked back and forth for about 5 minutes looking for the restaurant before being assisted by a Hilton staff member. We were seen and seated immediately followed with water and menus. Drinks came out almost immediately after ordered followed by our starter of octopus which was far better than expected. After a short wait we received both meals. We ordered the blue cod and ribeye steak. Both were absolutely delicious and the perfect portion. Ended with the cream brûlée which was so good. Not to mention the beautiful view of the harbour we got to enjoy while dining. The service we received from both waiters was nothing but professional and exceptional from start to finish. Would definitely recommend dining here, although it is pricey it is definitely worth it!

It was my firsts time trying the Fish restaurant. The view was amazing, they currently have a spring brunch every Sunday, which you can pick your mains and you get dessert and other starters in a buffet style. The service was great as well as the environment. It is not very crowded which I love. In terms of the food, the quality of the food were great. The crab cake egg benedict was the highlight for sure. Cost: $68 per person

Went here for a birthday party. The restaurant space at the Hilton is nice with good views onto the harbour, the seafood was good, had nice oysters but the red meats were not soo good. The lamb and beef steaks arrived cold like they have been sitting there for ages with no heat inside the meat. The flavours were average.

Great food and drinks in a great location overlooking the harbor. It is also less than a hundred meters to the entrance to the America’s Cup village. We stopped in for drinks and snacks, and sat in the bar area outside. The service was prompt and the waiters were attentive. We had the zucchini flowers, which were unique and amazingly delicious, and some seasoned potatoes with our drinks. They have many unique drinks and drink combinations, and several beers on tap. We would recommend this place, and will have to return for dinner sometime!

Euro is our top choice for celebrating special occasions large and small. 5 star food and service are consistent throughout the years. Menus are updated regularly and keeping us wanting to go back. Recently renovation has further improved the atmosphere. Top restaurant in Auckland absolutely!

Excellent experience, great food, location and service. Anniversary dinner and thought Euro bar would be perfect. We were promptly met with a friendly smile and shown to our table. Scott, our waiter was fantastic, really knew his stuff and had that fantastic balance of not being in anyway overly formal and very friendly and relaxed. Great wine selection too. Will definitely return again.

Came here for a friends birthday in May 19. Booked as part of First Table experience where you get 50% off the bill. Total bill was approx $400, 50% total $200 split between two couples $100 for the evening was not bad! This include few rounds of bluff oysters/ cooked bluffies. Mains, two shared desserts and cocktails each. Definitely worth booking via First Table and good was great! Good service with the staff

Such a nice dining experience! 😄 Whitebait fritter is a must try. Jerusalem artichoke ice cream + chips is a very interesting dessert. The market fish that day was the highlight 🎉. The pasta dish though, great portion and has the pretty green colour but is slightly salty to my liking.

Fantastic service and food selection as always. Euro always meets the standards I expect at an establishment such as this. There were some delicious things to order from the menu and the atmosphere was great too. Will definitely continue to return here in the future.

We booked for the new years Eve set menu and arrived slightly early, our table was already ready so we walked straight up and were seated quickly. The menu options were a good range of different dishes and we ordered a variety between the 2 of us. They were more than happy to offer side plates so we could share the different courses. The beef starter was lovely and was followed by the Korean chicken and tuna which was great to be able to share the 2 options. The chicken was a perfect balance of hot and tasty and the tuna was fresh and lovely. Onto the mains where we got both the beef and the pork belly. The pork was probably the pick here as the beef really needed the accompaniments. We got both the fries and slaw as sides and they were very tasty and good portions to share. Finally we had the a banoffee pie and a key lime pie, these were tasty but not exquisite, given the busy night I imagine that was to make serving a little easier. We were overall very happy with our choice for the final meal of 2018

Good food but not fantastic. The ribs were tasty but a little dry, beef brisket could be better if it's a little more tender, pulled pork was really sweet, tuna poke was nice and refreshing, prawn taco was interesting a little sour than we thought. Good view from the restaurant on a nice evening~

The food was good! Although a bit more on the pricier end (it's princes wharf) and a bit smaller than expected portion for the price (although the platter is solid Gold!) Dessert was fantastic, and that ocean view is just fantastic. Great place to have lunch on a day with beautiful weather.

What can I say, this place is amazing! High standard in food, service and quality. Very good location and view, amazing food and the crew was so attentive to our order, and always checking “Is the food good?” “Is everything alright?”.. The broccolini taste so good, highly recommended! on top of that I got a extra treat from my dessert order 😍 we’ll surely return!

Most delicious charcoal roasted kumara dish! The cauliflower was also incredible and massive. There is a separate vegetarian menu, so make sure to ask before ordering as the main menu is very meat heavy. Great atmosphere and view of the Harbour. Staff were friendly and efficient with table service. Thoroughly enjoyed dinner at this place and will be back!

Had our staff dinner recently and found it to be a great space & location for groups. The service is friendly, accommodating and professional. It is very tidy and open, plenty of room indoors and it extends to the outdoor area were you get a view of the harbour. We had the festive menu sharing plates for a group of 20 with the added broccolini and the Mac & Cheese. The pork belly corn dogs are unique and very tasty, shrimp & grits also good, the mains were plenty with a selection of lamb & pork ribs with smoked brisket. It all comes with slaw, buns and sauces. Personally I found the desert wasn't up to the quantity standard of the festive menu hence the 4 stars. other then that definitely worth another visit.

Everything is made with love and care and you can taste the freshness in the dishes I went there with a grabone voucher but I would be more then happy to return and pay full price. Our first time dining here and won’t be our last! It was a wonderful experience, from start to finish! The gorgeous welcoming staff, the delectable dishes, the ambience, comfortable seats, the company we kept, everything was perfect!

We have been to Soul bar on many occasions and really enjoyed it in the past, how ever that last few times we have been very disappointed and specially the last visit was for my partners birthday. We weren't there for the ladies lunch we were paying full price and spending alot of money. The service was so bad one of the waitresses plonked our food infront of us with no words or even a smile and walked off. The food was tasteless and nothing to rav about. We ordered the prawn pasta and it came out Looking and tasting over cooked with a prawn head on top of it with about 3 little bits of prawn through it, the seafood chow was made with chicken stock and not very nice, the fish dish was average along with the 2 entrée we had. We won't be back as we can cook better at home.

I love Soul Bar, and this time it was a tuesday lunch with the girls. The food is consistently delicious and full of flavor. This time we enjoyed: Scampi cocktail, jalapeño & lime, Ricotta filled tortelli, sunday sauce, calabrian chilli Tuna tartare, calabrian chilli, oyster mayo, potato galette West coast whitebait fritters, lemon butter. We will be back!

We felt like having a special date night last week, I had been to Soul before just for drinks but had heard the food was exceptional. Despite being a Tuesday night, Soul Bar & Bistro was lively, busy and definitely the place for a fancy date night, work drinks, and family/friends group dinners. The staff are lovely and helpful and food was amazing. I had to try the famous Mac n Cheese - was unlike anything else I've had, did not dissapoint! Drinks were really good as well. All round the spot if you have anyone you'd like to take to a nice dinner on the waterfront. Still raving about it- we will be back 💫

The food and drink at Soul Bar is exceptional. We ordered a variety of starters, which were all unique and delicious. My favourite starter was the tuna with wasabi mayo. For my main, I ordered the lamb rack. The lamb was tender and flavourful. Kumara was also served with the lamb, providing a soft and crunchy texture to the meal. Additionally, my cocktail, the Soul Punch, was delicious. The service is also great. The wait staff were kind and enthusiastic.

We came before so this was a repeat visit. Did not disappoint! Soul has amazing cocktails and delicious food. Top favourites were the tiger prawns starter, scampi alla chittara and market fish.

Amazing and wonderful food experience! Had the signature degustation menu for 2, great blend of different flavors, it really worked well together. This along with a good mix and produce from sea and land, so good variety showcasing the fine skills of culinary team. Well designed menu, high quality food, great creativity. Best elegant seafood restaurant for their special Grilled Crayfish wirh 2 types of cooking with sauces. It complemented with a glass of Te Mata Chardonay which was excellent. Lovely place overlooking the bridge and yachts, beautiful place for lunch. We even clean up the whole crayfish. Delicious.

The crayfish and our calamari entree were cooked perfectly, however our fish of the day was extremely dry - the mashed potato was good though. Cocktails were also very nice! Overall would recommend for a special occasion

I chose come to this restaurant to celebrate my birthday with my husband. This night was very memorable for me. The owner of the restaurant made me feel like I was at home.❤️We chose to taste lobster and lamb. I loved the salmon dim sum the most. The atmosphere and the delicious food of the restaurant made me feel very comfortable✨✨✨

Tony’s is a solid spot in Auckland if you’re after classic comfort food, good service, and a laid-back atmosphere. I went in with high expectations and left mostly satisfied. The overall vibe was warm and welcoming, and the staff were genuinely friendly and attentive without being overbearing. The menu offers a nice range of options, and the pricing felt very reasonable considering the portion sizes and quality. I ordered a steak, which I was really looking forward to—it came slightly overcooked compared to what I had requested, but it was still flavorful and well-seasoned. Not perfect, but not a deal-breaker either. The sides complemented the meal nicely, and everything was served promptly. What stood out most was the service. The team on the floor made sure we were comfortable throughout the night, checked in at the right moments, and handled everything with a smile. That alone makes a big difference in the dining experience. All in all, it was an enjoyable evening. Tony’s may not be pushing any culinary boundaries, but it delivers solid food, good value, and a friendly experience. I’d definitely return—and next time, I’ll just be more specific about how I want my steak.

Great place - it's so Retro and old school. It took me back to family dinners in the 80s, and I loved it. Great menu and the oysters were amazing value! The steaks were perfect and reasonably priced. Booked a table, so no wait time. Def recommend booking! Staff were super friendly and helpful. First time here but definitely won't be my last! Loved it.

What a great place for steak! It was my first time eating at this place and I am impressed! The waitress was so friendly and attentive. I ordered Tony's Original. It was mouthwatering delicious. The scotch fillet was so tender and cooked perfectly to my liking. You can either have mashed potatoes or chips and salad or vegetables. The portion is quite big for me so I couldn't stomach any dessert. I left satisfied though. I will definitely come back!

Our steak was under cooked (almost raw), but after we tell the staff, they cook it again and it's perfect. (Ordered medium rare) Well priced. 💕 Seafood Chowder is heaven! So good! Staff asking if we wanted the soup devided. So pleased with the initiative 🥰 The pecan pie was good but not wow. You can taste/see the pecan.

The place itself has a cosy, welcoming vibe and the staff were really friendly great service all around. I ordered the steak, which was okay but not amazing. It wasn’t bad, just didn’t have that “wow” factor. The mashed potatoes were a bit of a letdown they were cold and pretty average. I’ve had much better mash at other steakhouses. That said, the overall experience was still pleasant. I enjoyed the atmosphere and the service, even if the food didn’t fully hit the mark for me.

Old school American design, super cool! Large space with lots of booth seats, food was INSANE! we left beyond full and satisfied, such lovely staff and the cocktails are on point! Hats off to the chef you are a wiz in the kitchen!

The food wasn’t bad. However, while I was almost done eating, something sharp stabbed the inside of my mouth. When I spit it out, something that felt like metal came out. I told the staff about this, and they were very apologetic and said they would take the foreign object and tell the manager. After the manager heard about it, I had to stop the bleeding in my mouth at that spot for about 10 minutes. And after 10 minutes, she appeared with a bunch of counter candies. I had been waiting for 10 minutes. Of course, the foreign object had already been thrown away. And she said she didn’t know what caused it, was sorry, and told me to pay only half the food price. The important point is that because they don’t know where it came from, they won’t be able to solve this problem, and it’s an issue that can happen again. Also, she didn’t seem sorry at all. Of course, I’m not good at English and may not have been able to read her sincerity, but at least she didn’t seem kind or sorry. At that moment, I could taste blood in my mouth, and even now as I’m going to the airport, when I touch that area, I can feel the injury. I told her I couldn’t pay for the steak. So I only paid for the additionally ordered menu. Unfortunately, I guess she thought I was a difficult customer. Even at the last moment of payment, the bleeding hadn’t stopped, so when I asked for a napkin, she threw the napkin and didn’t even look at me. It completely ruined my last meal in New Zealand. If I come to New Zealand again next time, I don’t want to come back here. Because she might ruin the end of my trip again.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​

Super nice steak if you want to treat yourself. I found the service was a bit slow but the food was top notch. They show you the cuts before you order which is really handy as if you are not an officialdo then it is not clear what you are going to get. Order you mains, sauce and then side. You are talking about $100-$150 per person by the time you include drinks and sides. The meat was super tender and glad we came. We went on a Thursday and it was busy, with people sitting outside. Well worth a visit and the food quality of food is excellent.

Love the atmosphere. Even though we had to wait over 30 minutes for our meals, it was definitely worth the wait. Every steaks were cooked to perfection.

We absolutely enjoyed “POWER LUNCH” on Friday. The meat and wine were very delicious. The staff were polite and friendly, and the atmosphere was wonderful. We’d love to go there again.

My partner and I visited Jervois Steakhouse on a busy Friday around 1:45pm—and from the moment we walked in, we knew we were in good hands. The ambience is warm and inviting with classic steakhouse charm—leather chairs, rich brown tones, curated art, and a glowing fireplace that adds just the right touch of comfort to the upstairs space. Now let’s cut to the chase—the steaks? Absolutely divine. Absolutely worth the price. We shared the mighty 800g T-Bone and a perfectly marbled Scotch Steak. Both were cooked to perfection and packed with deep, satisfying flavor. The hollandaise and mushroom sauces were the clear standouts—rich, velvety, and the perfect complement to the steaks. But the real surprise? The Wagyu fat roasted kumara. Sweet, smoky, and finished with whiskey caramel, pecan, and feta—it stole the show. Honestly, it might be one of the best sides I’ve ever had. The potato gratin and seasonal greens were also excellent, but that kumara… unforgettable. We paired everything with a couple of bold reds that brought it all together. Dessert was a crème brûlée and a classic affogato—simple, satisfying, and just the right finish. Service was outstanding—genuinely warm, knowledgeable, and perfectly timed despite the lunch rush. Our waiter went above and beyond to make sure that we were comfortable. His recommendations were also excellent! In short: top-tier food, flawless service, and an atmosphere that feels effortlessly polished. We left full, happy, and already planning our return.

Birthday dinner was had here - lovely intimate space for special occasions. We both enjoyed our food greatly, really nice experience having the waitress come and show us the cuts of meat and helping decide what would both suit us. I am quite new to steak and had a petite eye fillet, the flavour was incredible. I did find it a bit on the tougher side but that would be because I asked for it to be cooked medium-well and now I know when a steak is on the well done side it’s naturally going to be a bit tough. No fault of the restaurant though! My partner had the scotch fillet, medium rare and it was impeccable. The flavour of the steaks is outstanding. Definitely a pricey restaurant, we spent $250ish on x2 steaks, 3 sides and a bottle of red. Well worth it for a special occasion and this will be our new special treat for birthdays from now on!

Best steak house i have ever been, great environment. Steak cooked to perfection. I had the rib eye and wagyu scotch fillet. Even the entrees and sides were soo good. Amazing service they know what they are doing. I will definitely be back.

Had the most amazing steak dinner here. We were here for our anniversary and had the most attentive waitress! Both ordered steak, fries and mac and cheese - all a hit! We opted for some dessert too which was great. Atmosphere was super nice being dimly lit. Would definitely come again!

A great restaurant that has excellence customer service as well as high quality food. We went to The Grill for the very first time, and tried their Truffle menu. Omg, it was so good. I love the customer service there, the waitress are very good observer, she realize my friend didn’t drink much of her drink. She came in to check in and offer to change another drink for her, love her attention to detail. All staff are very professional and creates a very cozy environment for dining. It is spacious with the cozy ambient. The beef Wellington is a must try! Very happy with the whole experience

The staff was super attentive, and the service was great. The food was high quality, but a bit salty for us. The place is huge, and the tables are spaced out, so it wasn't cramped or noisy. We had a really nice time here. Thank you.

One of the best restaurants to get steak in Auckland! We couldn’t quite decide so we opted for the “Study of Beef” - they served us the First-Light wagyu bavette, Lake Ohau wagyu scotch fillet and Southern Stations wagyu sirloin. We chose the miso hollandaise, truffle butter and peppercorn sauce to go with our steaks. Also paired with a nice bottle of Pinot Noir. The steak and sauces/butter were all ABSOLUTELY DIVINE! Didn’t order it myself but my friend got the beef burger and I had a bite of it. I’m not a big fan of burgers, especially not in New Zealand but to my surprise, it was so juicy (even with the patty requested to be well done) and full of flavour!! The patty was grilled to perfection with some slight crispness around the edges. Would without a doubt return here in heartbeat!

We went to The Grill for a birthday dinner, and it turned out to be one of the best dining experiences I’ve had in a while 🤩 From start to finish, the staff were warm, attentive, and incredibly accommodating, and the ambiance was spot on - stylish yet comfortable. I especially love that we can see the chefs in action and can hear someone say every few minutes “service!” It was like I was part of Masterchef 👩‍🍳 We ordered the Mapari Sirloin steak, The Grill Beef Burger, Mac n’ Cheese, and a Kawakawa mojito. The steak was cooked to medium rare perfection, with the Nelson truffle butter being the perfect pairing. The burger was full of flavour, and the mac n’ cheese with truffle was rich, creamy, and absolutely delicious *chef’s kiss * By the end, we were SO full, so we kept dessert simple with an affogato. The Hummingbird espresso was strong and paired beautifully with the ice cream. They also surprised us with a complimentary dessert for my partner’s birthday, which was such a thoughtful touch. I had a few options in mind for where to celebrate this special day, and I’m so glad I chose The Grill. It made the night feel extra special.. highly recommended and we’ll definitely be back! 🥩🍔🍸

I went here for dinner yesterday and overall had a decent experience. I started with the seafood chowder, which was probably the highlight of the meal. It had a generous amount of diced seafood, and the soup itself was creamy, rich, and full of flavour. It came with two slices of toasted bread and some flavourful butter—both were great accompaniments. For mains, I ordered the 350g Angus steak and the 300g wagyu rump cap. Both steaks were okay, but the wagyu rump cap was served dripping with red liquid after a few minutes it had been served, which made me think it hadn’t been properly rested. As a result, it wasn’t particularly juicy, but it was still tender and flavourful. I also had the roasted vegetables and mashed potato on the side. Unfortunately, I found the mash too heavy—it tasted like it was made with more butter than potato, which wasn't to my liking. That said, the service was excellent. The staff were warm, friendly, and attentive throughout the evening.

Having stayed at Horizon Hotel from 25/7/2025 to 26/7/2925, my husband and I went to The Grill for breakfast on 26/7/2025. A La Carte breakfast is served with some selections of fresh fruits, bakery and congee. However, if you want any coffee made by the coffee machine, you have to pay for it. Honestly, I have never come across this surcharge on coffee for any breakfast at any hotels around the world. Anyway, we didn’t order any coffee as we prefer to have our coffee somewhere else. Food was okay but not so impressive. We won’t go there again in future.

The food is great. Ordered the beef Wellington and tastes great. But just realized there is no special gift for birthday person. What’s more, if you bring your own cake, there will be extra $5 charge for each person at your table. The waiting time today around 50 minutes ( we have already pre-order online though ) ,it is quite a long waiting for my husband but it is acceptable for me.

Went here for family lunch on daughter birthday. Very impressive. Started with the seafood platter and lobster toast yummy. Lobster toast is a must try. Then shared Beef Wellington and lamb roster both first class. Lamb falling off the bone. Sides veg and chips all good. Staff were attentative and most helpful. Really nice outlook just a shame the container wharf is here but would highly recommend Ostro to all. Is expensive but I thought well worth the experience.

Food was absolutely amazing. However, the service was disaster. Service: Lunch time was extremely under staffed. We kept looking for our waiter and nobody checked on us. When the desserts came and we waited for five minutes to get our cutlery. Food: Oyster was fresh, lamb rump was just perfect(tender, juicy and flavourful), beef fillet was delicious and the chicken was tasty. Desserts do need some improvement nothing special.

We dined out at Ostro Brasserie & Bar in Britomart precinct and was instantly impressed with the service and restaurant interior as soon as we entered. From a very industrial looking entrance to the building to ascending the floors to the restaurant, it was stunning to walk into the reception area separating the mood lit bar to the right and the expansive dining area opposite. The maitre’d was a consummate professional with greeting and escorting us to our table. The wait staff were exceptional and the menu was exciting to peruse. I was impressed with the wine list the representation of NZ wines so we enjoyed an Otago Pinot Noir with Antipodes. We started off with the seafood platter and this was amazing with banana prawns, kingfish crude, ceviche, oysters, tuna tataki and croquettes with a trio of sauces. This was the best seafood platter I’ve ever had as the flavour profiles were refreshing and exotic to enhance the seafood. Following on, we ordered the snapper and lobster pie and this was moorish and flavoursome with chunks of lobster and fish in mornay sauce. We enjoyed the pie with Parmesan beignets and a cos hazelnut salad. The sides complemented beautifully. For dessert we had the poached pear with chocolate mousse and a cheese platter. This was the perfect close to a wonderful dinner. Overall, our dining experience was memorable and the ambiance, service and cuisine was truly wonderful. Highly recommended with distinction!

Had high tea here with friends. The food was nicely presented but varied in terms of taste. Some items were outstanding, some were just quite ordinary. One item had cream that was off although the chef insisted that it wasn't. My girlfriends were not convinced though and it's rather insulting for the chef to imply we don't know what we are on about when some of us are proficient bakers and even teach cooking. Why 3 stars? In terms of value, it's a bit misleading. For $55, you will get a savory option each but not the dessert option. So if there are 3-4 of you, you will have to either share or omit from eating the dessert you crave for as they only give one of each item. We were served 1 tray (see images) for 3 of us to share. Tea is limited to 2 servings/cups. You don't get a chance of even getting top ups as they are chasing you out of the restaurant by that stage by clearing your plates and giving you the impression that it's time to bugger off. The view is magnificent for those lucky enough to face the right direction. But would I come here again? Maybe.....maybe not.

On a Saturday afternoon around 3pm we wandered for lunch into Ostro. This place has a great view of the Waitemata harbour and you have the option to sit inside or the outside depending on weather. Great ambience and sitting space. Menu had one main option for vegetarians only. We had hot pot mushrooms and pan sheared snapper plus fries on the side. For a fine dinning restaurant the food was average, customer service was not as expected but the servers were polite. Cocktail was great along with the tap beer. Definitely a place to visit with friends for a drink and to soak in the harbour views.

Lovely location. Great food, and even better service. We thoroughly enjoyed our Saturday Sipsters lunch here. A must-do restaurant.. Oh, and a wonderful view of the Port.

Went to Auckland for a food tour base from cuisine magazine hatted restaurant. Had a lunch tasting menu, a New Zealand story. Snack were great and flavorful. Starter was presented well. Mains, i don't really like lamb in particular But the bbq lamb was my favorite. There is no lamb aftertaste at all. Pre dessert was a bit bitter but presented nicely. The main dessert was average. I was opting for more desserts but since tasting menus are stretch out didn't have that much time.

Our experience at Ahi was incredible from start to finish. We were seated in the far corner overlooking the harbor and square with our backs turned to the main restaurant, which made us feel like we were at a private exclusive table. The staff were incredibly knowledgeable and friendly. We chose the Chef menu, "A New Zealand Food Story," where we were taken on a culinary journey of the island. Each bite was spectacularly balanced, full of flavor, elegantly plated, and absolutely enjoyable. Highly recommend this special restaurant.

Outstanding! I had the express lunch which is one snack, one starter, one main and one treat for $90pp. The meal was outstanding….delicious! The Kawakawa sourdough bread, delicious! The Wild Goat Tart with sweet & sour mustard, with hot sauce, delicious! The Warehenga which was shaved Kingfish, burnt cucumber, avocado sorbet and ponzu, delicious! The Tia which was wild-shot red deer, courgette flower, smoked beetroot tamarillo & black pudding jam with pickled raddish, delicious! The treat was a Rosé ice block, delicious. Overall……delicious and throughly enjoyed lunch! A must try!

I came to Ahi after seeing it being featured on many foodie pages as one of the top restaurants in Auckland. I could clearly see where the hype was coming from. What i liked about Ahi, - Beautiful spacious interiors overlooking the beautiful harbour which makes it an ideal place to be in & enjoy a drink during sunset. - Loved the open kitchen concept where you get to enjoy the art making of the talented chiefs there with the chargrill ovens n that magnificient smell. - I was greeted by a beautiful lady that escorted me to the table n that was the best service i got but following that the young gentleman that was taking care of my table was nothing less than an extremly rude young gentleman that hasnt learned any manners. It seems he wasnt so happy with me not ordering a main dish, i simple got 1 started & 1 small plate. I asked to try a wine but wasnt a fan of it so decided not to go for a glass. He then comes back to my table & throws the menu on my table then comes back in few minutes asking in a very arrogant way "do you want to eat something else"! I just hated how i was treated, it made me feel so bad & was a horrible way for me to end my day! Its so sad when such a beautiful place would hire such amateur employees, it seems made me feel i dont want to come back to this spot! I tried the Oysters which weren't my fav, i believe they were Waikato oysters. Tried the Octopus which was lovely but the plate was so small versus the price point. In general Ahi is a beautiful spot to enjoy a couple of drinks n nibbles with friends n enjoy lovely music but paying high price point.

Ahi was absolutely amazing! The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive & they even surprised me with a special “Happy Birthday” plate after overhearing it mentioned. We had the NZ Food Story set menu, which didn’t disappoint. Every dish was crafted to perfection and came with its own story, making the experience even more special. I’d visited Ahi on my last day in New Zealand. I have to say that I’d been largely disappointed with the food I’d tasted in Christchurch, Wellington (barring one), and finally, Auckland. It was a very good final day, having visited Depot (opposite Sky Tower). Ahi was recommended by a staff in Hotel Britomart. My requirements were easy enough: I want a place that can showcase the freshness of NZ produce. I was lucky to get a seat as I was alone. Service was generally good though not consistent (some were much better than others). I appreciated the menu which showed the distance between the source of the dish to the restaurant. Every dish was presented by the servers, and the each dish was beautifully presented by the chefs. My favorite was the dessert, with the smoked ice cream with charred berries, and dark chocolate. It was a most complete taste! My least favorite was the abalone on hash brown, because the taste of the hash brown overwhelmed the abalone and in an unpleasant way. Feedback was given to the server who cleared my plate. As it turned out, my very fussy friends had also visited earlier this year as they were staying at the Intercontinental Hotel and had loved Ahi too. Please keep up the great work, I’ll be back again next visit

Experience: Extravagant platting. They do tell some story with their dishes. (A bit fast, guess cause it's busy). 👩‍💼🧑‍💼The staff do feel like have this aura (whenever I talk to them) that makes you feel like not belong there. 🍖 Had: Warehenga (Kingfish), Tuna Huhunu (Eel), Atihoka (Artichoke Eggplant), Riwai (potato/chips), Tia (Deer). Food are all delicious and unique. The only place that do deer. My only complaint is, if you only give 2 slices of deer meat, don't put it under "main". 💰 Prepare to pay at least $120pp if you don't want to come out still hungry (you won't get full unless you also order potato). #SmallPortions

Fresh seafood, we ordered the oysters, sashimi and fried fish and they were all delightful. Love the theme of the restaurant and overall the staff were all friendly and attentive. A perfect restaurant for a nightout with friends and family, I like how they have different areas for cozy vibes or drinking vibes. Would definitely come back again.

I definitely recommend the pirate platter. It’s full of fresh seafood and the portion is big. The only thing I don’t like is the teeny tiny shrimps. They are more like filling up the empty space of the plate. Both of the desert, tiramisu and brownie, are very good. The texture is creamy, smooth, and rich. They are the perfect ending to this meal.

What a joke. 20n min walk to get here and they close before 11 on a Friday with bar staff refusing to serve. So disappointed after telling partner what a great place this is. Won't be back.

I love this place! Food wash amazing- cooked to perfection. Even the hot fudge brownie was better than most. Staff were very friendly and helpful and food came out fast. The venue is clean and tidy and the decor gives you interesting things to look at while you eat

We celebrated our 40th wedding anniversary here, last night. The food, the service and the atmosphere were top notch. They made us a ‘dessert’ plate, to wish us for our anniversary. Which we really appreciated. Hubby had the pork belly, I had the fish. The desserts were yummy too. Highly recommend this restaurant for any occasion. Thank you.

Really love coming here with the hubby and teenagers for drinks and snacks and sitting at the high tables at the beach end. It's the kind of place you can dress up a bit more and not feel overdressed or stupid! Service is generally ok, the Chinese waiters are so nice and friendly. Snack food is super yummy. The decor is nice, really like the led lighting that changes colors and the bathrooms are nice. The screens are also great for the sports fans! The restaurant is lovely too and goes without saying the steaks are incredible. Love the relaxed but stylish vibe. Highly recommend 👌

Today's dining was a little disappointing ONLY due to the waitress processing the costs incorrectly. The food presentation and taste was amazing as always. The waitress was actually very attentive during our lunch time sitting. However, when I paid the bill, I was charged double for our order. The waitress had entered our orders twice into the computer. Was easily fixed by staff once I noticed. We had to get our desert as take out as we were too full! Haha We love dining at 21 Days and will continue to do so.

Had a delicious dinner at 21 Days in Browns Bay! We had the Savannah eye fillet and beef rump. Both were cooked perfectly, super tasty and full of flavour. The eye fillet was so tender and the rump had a great sear on it. We got sides of mash, crumbed cauliflower and broccoli. All were really good, but the crumbed cauliflower was the star. So crunchy and yum! Awesome service and a chilled vibe too. Definitely keen to go back!

I used to be a regular customer and loved the selection of food from scallops to a range of steaks which were served with roasted potatoes and tomatoes on the vine. When I came back today I was surprised to see that the menu had changed and all the beloved condiments were gone. I also felt that in the past the staff was so much more attentive and made you feel right at home. It also took 50 minutes from ordering until the food arrived. I don’t know whether it’s a change in ownership that led to these changes, but I hope they revert back. Don’t change a place that already is perfect.

This has got to be on steak connoisseurs lists top 5 in Auckland. By far the best on the North Shore and surrounding. Consistently amazing.

I booked a Father's Day lunch for my parents via email. The staff provided prompt email responses, which was greatly appreciated. However, two issues affected the experience. First, the "Happy Father's Day" message on the dessert plate—confirmed by email and included in the invoice—was not provided. Second, despite clear payment confirmation from both your accounting department and info email (with proof sent in advance), my parents were discreetly informed after their meal that the bill "might not have been paid." This was particularly embarrassing as they had just met a new friend who was paying at the next table. I understand the restaurant recently reopened, but these oversights diminished a special occasion. Hopefully, this feedback helps enhance future service consistency.

After arriving in Auckland, we were looking for seafood that was close to the hotel. The menu was simple but offered great variety. We started with the oysters and calamari, the oysters were very fresh and had a fantastic brine. The calamari was seasoned well and had excellent crunch. After, we ordered the grilled tiger prawns. They were grilled and seasoned perfectly, slight sweetness with an almost lobster flavor. Following this we ordered, the steak frites and whole flounder. The steak was good but small (compared to other steaks across NZ of the same cut) and under seasoned. Whole flounder was pan cooked in butter and had great flavor and texture. Service was incredibly expedient and attentive. If we’re back in Auckland I’d eat there again based on starters alone, but would I get a different main. Overall great spot with a cool view of the harbor.

Absolutely perfect dinner! I’ve been here before, but the new summer menu completely blew me away! I used to never eat mussels, but this place totally changed my mind. Every single dish was amazing — I honestly can’t even pick a favorite! The beef tartare was hands down the best I’ve ever had in my life. 😍 Thank you, Chef! My partner and I will definitely be coming back again soon!

Had dinner at The Shucker Brothers on Queen’s Wharf, NZ — really nice spot with a cool atmosphere. I had the octopus, and it was incredible! Amazing flavour with just the right amount of spice. The food and drinks overall were excellent. The only thing that took away from the experience was the host at the door — didn’t feel very welcoming and came off a bit pushy. Still, a great place for a delicious meal by the water.

A nice seafood restaurant located on the water. I ordered the Waiheke sourced oysters, the octopus small dish, fish and chips and scampi pasta. I was happy with the oysters and really liked how the chef shucking the oysters took the time to ensure freshness. She smelt one oyster and threw it away which I was very pleased to see. It shows honesty and pride in her work. As for the pasta, it was nice but I was hoping for more flavour. The scampi was nice though. The octopus was tender and I liked the idea of the crispy toasts. The fish and chips was good but I'd like to see more crunch from the batter. Otherwise, a nice restaurant

Absolutely incredible experience at Shucker Brothers! We shared two dozen fresh, flavour-packed oysters sourced from Waiheke Island – hands down some of the best we've had. The beef carpaccio was melt-in-your-mouth delicious, and the margaritas were perfectly balanced and refreshing. On top of it all, the staff were friendly, welcoming, and made the whole experience even better. Can’t wait to come back!

Fantastic food and atmosphere. We were seated on the bench near to the kitchen so got to chat with the chefs and see them work. The wait staff was not so great. They just passed us the menu and pointed us to the seat. Not attentive and didn't come back to take our order.

Great view by the harbor to laze around with delicious seafood and wine even though with stormy and windy weather. Fresh flounder is our great choice and mussels are huge and juicy.

The food was very delicious. I ordered oysters and salami, both were nice. The cocktail was just okay. I ordered a Mai Tai, but I don’t know what they made. The glasses were very small and too expensive. Customer service was nice though.

Went here couple of months ago with a group of friends for drinks and snacks! The atmosphere is just amazing! The restaurant is so beautiful set up! The interior decor is just perfect! There is also a photo section beautifully set up to take photos! Views from here are amazing! We bought a shared small meals and a lamb dish. Perfect for a date, or hang out session with friends or high tea! Staff are lovely! Overall a good experience!

A great place with a vibey youthful atmosphere, the DJ-saxophonist fusion was a unique touch. The wait staff were friendly, attentive and patient. We didn't enjoy the fish too much but that's at no fault to the food, just personal preference - however, the pizza was the best we've had especially if you enjoy a good kick of flavour, the base was thin and cooked in a fire oven which really added to it. You'll enjoy good food, views and a vibe. We took family visiting from overseas on a busy Friday night. You can also have good drinks here as they have a good exciting selection or enjoy a night walk on the viaduct afterwards.

This place has an ideal location and setting for anyone looking to enjoy delicious food for lunch, all while taking in a wonderful view from the upstairs seating area. The view of the viaduct is simply breathtaking! The friendly staff truly knows how to welcome guests. We indulged in two wood-fired pizzas and the fresh market fish crudo, along with a couple of drinks. The market fish crudo was absolutely exquisite—an outstanding presentation that impressed us as it arrived at our table. The flavors paired perfectly, making for a delightful experience. I can’t wait returning and indulging a bit more, as the location and dining atmosphere are simply delightful. Overall, I was thoroughly impressed and truly pleased with my time here.

We had such a lovely time here - the view over the water is lovely and the food is pretty decent too. Bless the staff for always checking in to see if you need anything. It was a quieter night - but a good little vibe as well.

Yummy Margherita pizza. Menu is a bit pricey for other items based on the portion size but otherwise tasty and great location. It was quite crowded when we went but overall a good experience. Food is ordered via the app and for additional drinks you would need to give credit card to open a bar tab. Otherwise purchase from online.

Wow, the best restaurant we have dined at to date. We are a 8 pax girls group called the ‘Soul Sissy’s’ formed 30 years ago we dine out for our birthdays and try different restaurants, you are one of the best if not the best’ We had the set menu and every dish sublime …beef wagu to die for . Big ups to the chefs, the lovely ladies who looked after us, the ambience, views was more than we had imagined. Lucky I saw a great post show casing your food on instagram otherwise would never have known you existed. We will return 😍

I went here for mother's day. Food was tasty but very small portion and very expensive and the service was terrible. They made so many mistakes with our orders (forgot to put the dish, put half the order for another dish and totally got another one wrong). it took almost 2 and half hours for them to bring all our food. On the bright side the staff and manager apologized and gave one of the dish for free. Favorite dish was the chicken satay and least favorite was gozya (it wasn't worth waiting 2 hrs for it). Overall, terrible experience and hope others don't encounter it.

This feedback is actually for a visit before the 1st lockdown. It was one of the remarkable experience I had to some of the newest established eateries lately. My friends and I had a very warm greeting and taken to a table by the window with my booking. The hostess (can’t remember the name but from South Africa) was absolutely amazing, big personality but that’s all about it, isn’t it? We loved the atmosphere and the venue was packed! Full of cheering people and laughs, felt so great, like another world. Food were simply tasty and service was prompt, nothing seemed like a hassle for them. Fine wine selections and we had some awesome cocktails as well. It was a good night out for sure, will return indeed with family. :)

Good dining experience here. Having a glass of wine and some oysters and beef. The oysters are nice but I have tried better, they made it in a special way, the sourness from the ice neutralized the saltiness from the oysters so the flavors are balanced.the beef skirt tastes unique with the special sauce and the yolk. And again the portion is quite small, I still felt hungry after spending $100 there, and I went to burger burger upstairs.

Great food and service. The crab spaghetti is wonderfully creamy and has a bit of spice. The short rib rigatoni was tender and tasty. Wild deer with oyster mushrooms was the best, rare and flavorful. Their take on fish n chips was unique and very good. Great lunch.

I always love celebrating special occasions here in the Lodge, the food is always great and consistent, the service is impeccable and the ambience makes for a beautiful conversation. It's laid back but also refined. They strike the perfect balance between the food that they offer and the service they provide. I've recommended them to many friends, and I have always received compliments about my recommendation. My favourite is their steak night on Mondays. It's quieter than normal days, you get the best meal and experience. The staff are lovely and very thoughtful, they even gave us a handwritten card for our anniversary. It's the small gestures like that which makes a difference to the experience. I'd keep coming back for sure.

The atmosphere was wonderful, and from the starters to the desserts, the food was so unique and delicious. I felt truly happy to enjoy such an excellent dinner with amazing food and wine after such a long time. The staff were friendly, and they were well prepared to explain the wine and dishes. Went for a quick afternoon bite and we left incredibly satisfied. Absolutely cozy atmosphere, the gentleman that served us (unfortunately forget his name) was incredibly welcoming and knowledgeable about drinks and food. Love the open kitchen to get the chance to have a little look behind the scenes and see the chefs operate.

Stopped yesterday for a Dirty Martini and really enjoyed the vibes here. Decided to get another drink. The other cocktails on the menu looked so good. Got their twist on french 75 which they put seasonal fruits in. The fruit used in my cocktail was Tamarillo, so yum. I also ordered the pull apart bread, was nice. Definitely keen to come back for dinner service one day. ❤️

Friendly service and excellent cocktails. Superb vibe for dinner. Comfortable seating. Food quality was great. Only minor imperfection for a seafood spaghetti having some small bits of clam shells, but all the other dishes were beautifully presented with well-balanced flavor. Recommended.

Always reliable. Wonderful staff who were cheerful and onto it on New Year’s Eve. We don’t eat here but food seems mostly ok for pub fare. A fabulous local.

The place was nice, the staff in the reception or recieving area was nice and food is okay. However, our waiter was kinda rude to us. We went for a good time and left feeling bummed about it. We kinda just left cause we thought, he was having a bad time but nonetheless it ruined the night for us, that's why I'm giving it a three star.

Good selection of booze and cheap cocktails, go to place on a Sunday afternoon for the renowned Sunday Session! Take photos and have a laugh, just don't feel offended by the decor.

Fancy & delicious experience. We enjoyed every bit - the Chardonnay was lovely, entrees, mains and dessert were great. Overall quite an expensive night for us ($330NZ) but you get what you pay for in terms of quality, food and service. We really did enjoy every bit. The wine options are definitely tailored to the wine lovers with high priced bottles ($80+) but the Chardonnay we got was really lovely so it’s worth it for the rare occasion. The service was lovely (a lady maybe named Jean?) did a great job at explaining the menu to us and providing recommendations which served us well. Highly recommend.

We visited Kingi on 7th Sept for their Taste of Kingi four-course menu ($115 per person), and it was easily one of the best dining experiences I’ve had in Auckland. Every dish told a story of New Zealand’s coast fresh, thoughtful, and beautifully balanced. The Te Matuku Bay oyster with kiwifruit granita was the perfect start bright and refreshing. The gamefish crudo with mandarin, makrut lime, and chilli was light yet full of flavour, and the wild Wapiti nigiri with horseradish ponzu was unforgettable. The kūmara sourdough and green-lipped mussels in nduja beurre blanc brought warmth and richness, followed by shared mains of yellow-belly flounder with brown butter, capers, and almonds, and snapper in tomato crayfish bisque with fregola and fennel both cooked perfectly. Even the shoestring fries with wakame salt were addictive. A special mention to our waitress Anna Rose, who was absolutely amazing warm, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about the food.

Stunning! This restaurant is one of the best in Auckland I think. We had the set menu for lunch and every dish was better than the last. Standouts were the muscles, bread and fish. It is very rare that I leave a review for anything but I felt this was important to do for Kingi. I dined with my husband, our two small children and my parents last Sunday, it was to celebrate my mother’s 65th birthday and the first meal we have had out since having our baby 8 months ago. From the moment we walked in, everything about our experience at Kingi was exceptional. The front of house host was so warm, welcoming and accommodating, going above and beyond for us. We were given different options of seating to best suit our family, a colouring in book, detailed and delicious children’s food options, a high chair for the baby and the care he showed to our children was a very heartfelt service making us feel that they were so welcomed be dinning too. The waitress that serviced our table was the perfect pair of professional and friendly, never overbearing yet perfectly timing her table service. The food was excellent, we expected that and it did not disappoint at any stage. We have recommended Kingi to friends and family for a week since and will continue too. It was an unforgettable dining experience and we will definitely be back! Thank you dearly

I had a family member visiting from Singapore who was wanting to have a seafood meal, so of course one of the first places that came to mind was Kingi! I wasn’t aware of the shift in menu before getting there - slightly less seafood orientated now, compared to what it used to be (had been here two times prior to this when almost the entire menu was seafood). Seafood was all very fresh, however, we felt like the flavours/ingredients in the kingfish and crayfish taco dishes overpowered a little, so the seafood was not the star of the show and their taste somewhat muted. The mussels in the tagliolini were unfortunately chewy…and again the bisque was too overpowering and could barely taste the crab. Founder was delicious and was the only dish out of the ones we ordered where you could taste the seafood well - I must say that I enjoyed the flounder more on previous occasions though. Bit of a shame that there was nothing that stood out and wowed us. I think the restaurant should bring back the old menu. All the food pictured plus two coffees came to a total of $176.

The food, the staff, the place- PERFECT!!! As a seafood lover, I have always loved coming here because the food is always sooo good! They have put so much thought on the flavor combinations and the way their food is presented. Everything is made/cooked fresh- from seafood to pasta. 💖 Also giving a special shoutout to Jan, the duty manager for the last time I ate here. She's just the loveliest and was very helpful with what to order. Kingi is lucky to have her in their team. 100% coming back here because the staff are so nice and the food is sooo yum! Upon receiving my package, I found five products were spoiled or damaged, and shockingly, one of them had a best before date that expired over a year ago! This level of negligence is unacceptable. Shipping expired and spoiled items shows a lack of quality control and care for customers. I expected better from a store like this. I hope the management takes this feedback seriously and improves their standards to prevent such issues in the future.

Another awesome visit, for great Russian stuff, which my Russian wife and I love. A small selection of what we bought was photographed, but being Christmas there's some great beer and wine bought. I love it here, The staff is so friendly and helpful, what now could you ask for?

Wow is all I can say. I only just discovered Skazka - where else can you buy a decent sized piece of Speck for 2.20? I visited with a friend, and not being able to read Russian or Ukrainian we were a bit lost with some of the packaging. However that was part of the fun. Price were very low for imported goodies. I was thrilled with my decorative ceramic flask of Armenian red wine. Patient and helful staff made this a fun place to visit

10 stars for the service! I have ordered lots of delicacies on Wednesday morning, including some of the things that need to be in the fridge, and the parcel arrived the next day! Travelled all the way from Auckland to Peria (Far North, in the middle of nowhere, very rural location) in less than 24 hours! Everything was packed perfectly, even ice did not melt! Thank you Skazka for such amazing service, and going to enjoy all the treats now :)

Had a nice lunch with my colleagues here. Ordered a tomato, pesto toast and toppings and Fiordland venison bolognese. They were tasty. I gave it 4 stars because imo it's overpriced. The portion is quite small, so you usually need to spend around $40 to $50 (with drink).

Loved it! They have a spin on bagels and loxs that does not disappoint. My wife got the brisket taco. But my favorite dish was the crumpet with the roof honey. It’s amazing. You can look out the upstairs window near the bathroom and see the beehive.

Orphans Kitchen never disappoints. Definitely not your standard brunch/lunch menu there is something for everyone, fresh ingredients, generous portions and basically everything is delicious. Good beer and wine list but equally good non-alcoholic options which I really appreciate, and excellent coffee.

We were lucky to be in Auckland on the first Tuesday of the month when Orphans Kitchen does an open test kitchen to workshop new dish ideas. The 4 course menu is $70 and you can get matching wines for $35. The dishes we had were all incredibly inventive. They provided great explanations of each dish and the pairing wine, which made it really interesting and fun!

Delicious food, fantastic coffee, very popular place. There's extra tables out back, so dont be disheartened if it looks busy from the front! I went here on my last day in town but wish I had discovered it earlier. Good vibes between staff as well, which helps to create a very welcoming atmosphere. I had the venison bolognaise, which was exactly what I hoped it would be. Definitely hit the spot. I also had a black coffee and flat white, and both coffees were delicious. Had heard they offered raw buffalo milk, but the waitstaff I spoke to said that must have been a very long time ago.. I had the housemade hazelnut milk, and that was perfect.

Great atmosphere to eat. The hot buttered lobster roll is delicious but there isn’t enough lobster. Of course it’s what costs the most. So add a line on your menu : « extra lobster : 10$ » and then we would have the perfect lobster roll 🙏🏼

This lobster roll is simply divine. Your taste buds will want more even if you are more than full and can no longer stuff another roll in. It is that good Perfectly buttered and toasted roll, crispy on the outside, soft on the inside and not chewy as some soft rolls can be. The lobster was perfectly textured also. Just snaps off when you bite into it. The sauce takes this to the next level. Creamy, buttery and smooth

It’s amazing! I recommend just getting the buttered lobster roll without the fries and salad as those aren’t a highlight so save your money there. The mayo in the non buttered roll one takes away from the taste and texture of the lobster which is not ideal.

It’s no burger & lobster as in London, but it’s something different compared to the usual options. Service and vibe is great, but as per others, it’s a bit more bun than lobster given the price. Chips, side and pickle are very good. Definitely worth checking out and trying something different when in the area. Would I get it again - yea I probably would :)

I’ve been wanting to visit lobster and tap after following them on Instagram for quite some time. I was so impressed with the food! Lobster was so fresh and delicious and coleslaw was really good. We tried both lobster rolls, buttered and original and they were both super tasty. We got the combo with coleslaw, a pickle and a beer. Already planning my next trip to the fish market.

It was my first time having Lobster roll in NZ. The brichore bun was soft and buttery. The lobster wasn’t very outstanding but it’s also not rubbery.

Lobster and Tap was decent- expensive-ish lobster roll which could have used a bit more flavour but the roll was perfectly toasted and not overpowering of the lobster flavour. We got the combo which included some pickle, colelsaw and chips for an extra $4 coming to $29.50NZD. There was a classic or a hot buttered roll available we got the classic.

Love this place. Kind staff. Delicious food. Well priced. I went there 2x in my 1 week visit in Auckland. You can buy fresh fish stalls across and ask them to cook it. Or just use theirs. We try theirs, so good. I love their grill oyster.

Spoilt for choice! Really loved their version of fish and chips. Nicely grilled fish. Oysters and sashimi were incredible fresh and sweet!

They really have an attitude problem. They told me to my face that it would be the last time I could pick up after the delivery date, and they gave me a much smaller piece of salmon side. I just walked away. Do they even realize how much money the company has invested in marketing to promote the shop? If they can’t handle situations like this for online purchases and respond with that kind of attitude, I can’t imagine how much marketing money is being wasted.

Seafood is usually fresh and consistent but one of the ladies there was wearing the same set of gloves for handling cash/coins and for handling fish (including sashimi pieces and tearing smoked fish fillets for samples). Please be careful and mindful.

Rooms have very limited airflow and smelled very sweaty and damp. Hard to dry clothes/shoes after it’s been raining. Kitchen is decent and location is really good, but you can probably find better for same value.

Even though the staff here is very nice and helpful. But I suggest you not choose here. The design and quality of many facilities are way below than average level of many hostels I have stayed in NZ before. Many stuffs have very cheap quality, for example the sheets are not cotton and have a weird texture, it’s the cheapest material, the skin doesn’t feel comfortable, also the mattress feels like sponge can’t bounce back so I can feel the hard bottom under it when I was sitting on the bed with my 47kg weight. My room was super hot, there was no air circulation at all even I open the window. The design of the shower stall is not convenient either… there is a second door to prevent the water from splashing out, but there is no shelf for soap and shampoo inside, I like soap I can’t put it on the ground, so I opened the door to get my stuff, made the ground spilled with water flowing to the outside looks messy, not only mine, I saw the same conditions when others left the shower stall. And the door opens inward. So you also gets cramped when entering and exiting. The design and quality are disappointing.

PROS - The hostel is in a great location, walking distance for restaurants, cafes, bars and the city center. - Booked a private room, was spacious enough and had a lot of space to store clothes. - Pair of towels were provided. - Provided an electronic key to enter the room and also the password to enter the gate after hours. - Kitchen area was spacious, plenty of room to cook and eat food. - Toilets and showers available in every floor. CONS - The main con is the customer service, it was really poor. We made a booking and before arriving (a month and two weeks before) we emailed asking if it was possible to change the date of arrival, instead of staying 8 nights we would arrive later and stay 5. We received an email reply saying that it wasn't a problem. Upon arrival, we were about to pay when we realised we were being charged for 8 nights instead of 5. We asked the hostess how many nights she was charging and at first she said she was charging 5 nights. We kept questioning and then she admitted she was charging 8 nights and told us they had a non-refundable policy. We discussed that we had emailed and asked if there was any problem changing the check-in date and that it was confirmed, not a problem. She said that she would still charge the full price, but if we wanted, we could change the check-out date to have the 3 days. Not useful as we had international flights booked. However the hostess was really inflexible and refused to charge us for the nights we were actually staying, she even refused to let us talk to someone else. We asked to speak to the manager, and she said it was "impossible", and to email, her, again. She said it was not-refundable, and we could find somewhere else to stay if we wanted, even though it was NYE, but she said she had our credit card, and would charge us anyway. As a client I think the policy is really predatory, one thing is charging a fee for changing a booking and quite another is having to pay in full the nights originally booked, especially when given the hostel so much time in advance. It seems like they could potentially profit twice from this, from our booking, plus the booking a new customer in the nights we didn't stay. This is not at all in the spirit of backpackers, very disappointing. *In summary, a non-refundable deposit is understandable; but a non-refundable booking, when we haven't even paid (funded) the amount, is a predatory practice.

A pretty grim hostel, door at the front left open and was openly inviting less welcoming guests into the shared areas. The rooms were tired, dirty and stank of cigarette smoke. Lots of long term stays residing, I didn't feel particularly safe.

Hi Frienz Backpackers, I stayed with you a week and a half ago and still haven’t had my deposit returned. I had to leave early the morning I checked out and I put my keys in the check out box as the front desk was not open. When will I be getting my deposit back? It should have been returned to my credit card by now.

I chose a private room in order to have a good night's sleep and the room was very dirty and poorly maintained. The walls were full of holes. The pictures they show are not the real ones. The furniture is a mess and on the bed you can feel all the springs. The sheets were dirty when I arrived and they smell very bad. I would not recommend staying in this hostel for anything. The bathrooms are dirty as well as the common areas. I feel totally scammed because for the same value of a private room I could have stayed in a better place. I hope this review will be useful to someone else.

I had the unfortunate experience of staying at Frienz Hostel, and I can honestly say it was a nightmare from start to finish. The customer service was abysmal; it felt like the staff went out of their way to be unhelpful and unfriendly. The cleanliness of the place was equally horrifying. It seemed like they hadn't cleaned in months – dirty dishes piled up in the kitchen, mold in the bathrooms, and a pervasive odor of stale sweat throughout. As for the installations, they were in shambles. The rooms were cramped and uncomfortable, and the mattresses felt like they were made of cardboard. The common areas were equally depressing, with worn-out furniture and peeling paint on the walls. After complaining politely about one of the things that didn't seem normal to me, they wouldn't let me make another reservation because supposedly "there were no free beds." An extremely stupid thing to say since I had the hostel world website open and could see that it had numerous options for staying that night, very clever eh. Thanks . Overall, my stay at Frienz Hostel was a complete disaster, and I wouldn't wish it upon my worst enemy. Steer clear of this place if you value your sanity and hygiene.

The atmosphere of the place is great. The Indian guy serving us has amazing customer service with giving us options of fish and other food. We ordered fish burger and fries and blue cod and fries. Was nicely done. Though the fish was a little bit extra beer flavour for me, my husband loved it, but it was nice chunky fish inside that batter. Overall everything was great.

We came from US and had the pleasure to try the food and service they offer. I met Raj.. and he was very helpful with the menu and offer us some fresh seafood . Since my wife is pescatarian, he did really help us.. thank you for food recommendation is was really good .. hope to come back soon

I visited this establishment on my lunch break. It is part of a food hall so lunch time visitors are common. When I got there the server was serving a customer before me. There seemed to be no urgency on the servers part and that was confirmed once he had served that person. He was too busy taking photos of a typical food plate to serve me - his customer. It was more important to him to have that photo. 20 minutes after taking my order he served up three orders, mine included. Again, no sense of urgency. I estimate it took him nearly five minutes to serve up three simple orders of fish and chips. Not only that but he handled all orders with his bare hands. Disgusting! I would say that tongs and/or barrier gloves would be more appropriate. Whatever you do, do not visit this place.

Possibly the worst value for money I have ever had for food. Ordered a seafood platter for $35 and for that received 3 small calamari pieces, 1 small piece of fish, 3 prawns and a fries that wouldn’t have filled a small McDonald’s fries packet. This restaurant was absolutely fantastic! The service was fast and the food tasted immaculate, genuinely one of the best cod fish I’ve had in Auckland. Raj was very sweet, and the my whole family loved it

This branch is better than the one in CBD. We tried both. Freshness was ok possibly cuz next to the fish market. White wine mussels came as a thick cream sauce which wasn’t what I expected. Fish burger was good and calamari too.

Bought the hotpot mussels from here. The coconut curry sauce was tasty, but the mussels weren’t cleaned properly. Customer service was nice. You can eat inside or outside. Lots of tables and chairs available.

I've been to Billypot several times over the past few years. The quality has definitely been up and down, but my latest attempt was pretty successful - Whitebait fritter ticked all the boxes

Great service and i got to try the different oysters especially the seasonal one, 'bluff'~ all tasted super fresh and i still cannot decide which one is better though.. The bad was like some said, when the oyster was shucked, some shell got in so had to spit it out. But it was 1 in 6s so all good!

Without having paid attention to any of the other reviews, I just visited this converted fish market food court for the first time, and the oysters, fried squid, and mussels on display were too tempting to resist - so I didn't! Got a bowl of the salt and pepper squid w aoili for $15 which tasted even better than they looked; very plump and juicy and the seasoning was more unique than expected - at first it looked small but surprisingly plenty. They don't hand you a buzzer for when it's done like other shops, but wasn't terribly busy right now so wasn't an issue.

First and last time here. Had a fish burger and whitebait fritter There honestly was nothing nice about any of this food buns chips included. Really need to step up our game here if we offering this fare to tourists. So bland and uninspiring 😞

Never steped a foot in this place, but with black button sofa's... it looks like a Judges retreat after a hard day at the office. Add to that sounds from Biggie and Ethanol. Then in my humble opinion you have Vibe. Disclaimer: Depends who you roll with. Non paid promo FWIW.

SUCH a fun place. The karaoke is 10/10 and drinks are SO GOOD

Have been there many times. It is a very nice nightbar, great place to escape from busy life and to have a good time. Great cocktails and shots with reasonable price. The staffs and the owner are so passionate and friendly with incredible service. Highly recommend.

I had an elergic reaction due to the smoke machine here (never had one before). So just be aware if you start feeling odd to remove yourself. The place is nice though lol.
