Wine bar
Bartinney Wine & Champagne Bar, located in central Stellenbosch, is a popular spot offering sustainably produced, small-lot wines and French Champagne. The bar features a cozy ambiance with comfortable reclaimed armchairs and a terrace for outdoor seating. Visitors can enjoy wine-friendly seasonal nibbles and sharing plates while admiring the stunning light installation made from old Chardonnay vines hanging from the ceiling.
Bartinney is a nice wine & champagne bar for both wine and MMC (South African version of Champagne) lovers. Nestled at the edge of the center of Stellenbosch, this bar exudes a charming blend of rustic elegance and contemporary flair. Their selection of wines is simple but effective. The knowledgeable staff enhance the experience. While the options are limited, the quality and variety are more than enough to satisfy. The cozy ambiance, especially the nicely terrace, makes it a perfect spot for a leisurely afternoon.

Rustic and cute looking wine bar. Love the wooden windows and street side seating but on a raised wooden veranda. Staff were friendly and helpful. The cab sav was nice but a bit dry for my taste. Good quality olives. A very nice place to enjoy a wine.
Charlie T — Google review
Great for a drink (or two) before heading off to dinner! We were lucky to have beautiful weather so we sat outside and it almost felt as though we were somewhere on holiday.
Nina M — Google review
The coziest and coolest wine bar in Stellenbosch. Simple but tasty cheese and meat platters and a wine selection that is from Bartinney Farm that boasts some top notch wines and enviable awards. If you want to splurge, you can buy a bottle of Dom or Cristal. So pop in, sit down and drink wine!
David W — Google review
The ideal place to drink the perfect time. The atmosphere is inviting, the staff not only very friendly, but also wonderfully competent. What more could you want. And the wine is excellent anyway.
Lucas Z — Google review
My local hangout mature like good red wine. Always a winner to have a Noble Savage Cab Merlot with friends at this hidden gem in Stellies. No matter how many times I'm come here I am never disappointed. You can order snacks and some light meals/snacks from the family shop (Montegray & Independents).
Jack B — Google review
Gentle atmosphere, lovely service, food and wine all contributed to a lovely, smooth evening experience.
Nick R — Google review
In the heart of the winelands this quaint little wine bar is the perfect place to unwind after a busy day. Offering all the wines that the Bartinney winery produces (whites, reds, roses and MCC), craft beers and a small selection of wine based cocktails, there is something for everyone. Most of their wines are available per glass or bottle and they also have snacks that you can order. In the winter the inside seating area is perfect with a warm and cozy atmosphere, and in summer they have the classic "French cafe" seating at small tables on the side walk.

Additionally, The Wine Glass stands out by offering exclusive horizontal wine flights that showcase the Stellenbosch wine region, providing a unique tasting experience for visitors.
Our second time at the Wine Glass, and we were not disappointed. The food is well prepared and served. And of course very tasty. The staff and service is very good and friendly. Thank you Claudia for looking so well after us. The selection of wine is so big.

Fantastic Service! And Great Food! I do wish the food menu had a little more variety. But I’ll let it slide considering the establishment is called “The Wine Glass” and not “The Glass Plate” haha! Great aesthetics and a lovely variety of wines from across the Republic. Keep Up The Good Work!
Lala M — Google review
Brilliant concept. The most superb menu of wine by the glass. They also have food but we weren’t eating. Restaurant looks lovely though but we sat on the pavement enjoying the Stellenbosch ambience. They also have a great wine shop. Everyone is so friendly.
Richard H — Google review
Even though the food is already outstanding, it’s really the staff that takes everything to the next level. So much warmth, attention and genuine care – you feel welcome from the very first moment (special thanks to Delovia 🥰). The atmosphere is relaxed and inviting, the design tasteful and full of little loving details without ever feeling pretentious. It’s exactly what you hope to find in South Africa: fantastic food, true hospitality and an experience that goes far beyond an ordinary restaurant. More than 100% – absolutely recommended!
Anne K — Google review
My boyfriend and I came here yesterday and the food was soooo tasty! We had the Linefish Oriental which I highly recommend. Our waitress was the best! She was attentive and gave us recommendations.
Janet C — Google review
My partner and I had a great experience at wine glass Stellenbosch, the food is really great as well the variety of both surf and turf. The staff is so attentive and pleasant, that extra touch, amazing. Looking forward to the next visit. P.S some nice background music would be appreciated especially if dining alone or on a first date. A special thank you goes to Anthea our waitress and Brad the manager. Till next time.
Rebone M — Google review
We had dinner at The Wine and enjoyed their new winter menu. My wife had the oriental catch of the day and i had the Beef ragu. Both meals was really a good portion and hearty wintery dish. We had a table close to the fireplace and a lovely waiter that was very attentive.
Llewellyn N — Google review
We had two flights of wine, but sadly the measures provided were very small, much less than a normal tasting measure. Very disappointing. The food was good, although the steak au poivre was a bit heavy on the pepper and with meagre sizes of wine sample, the pepper simply overpowered all of the quality wines. At the same time we were able to witness other diners with seemingly normal sized glasses. A bottle of wine serves 6 x 125ml glasses or 12 x 62.5 glasses, we simply did not have enough wine to go with the food. Added to which the service was not good. The waiter was particularly slow, so slow in fact that the kitchen had closed before we could order dessert. Lastly, a small detail, but important. The table size was too small to cope with a tasting and a meal at the same time. We had eaten here before and were keen to return, I’m not sure that we will be as keen to return in future.

The ambiance is inviting with its soft lighting, cozy seating, and a balcony overlooking oak trees. Patrons can indulge in homemade nachos, pizzas, and delectable cheese boards while sipping on expertly crafted cocktails like mojitos and espresso tequila shots made with freshly brewed coffee and Kahlua.

We went for cocktails! What a fun venue with excellent service and drinks!

I absolutely love Balboa! Every visit has been a great experience. The staff are incredibly friendly and genuinely attentive, always making sure you have everything you need. I haven’t had the chance to visit during one of their live music nights yet, but I’ve only heard great things about it. The atmosphere is vibey yet relaxed, making it an easy favorite. Highly recommend!
Trudie K — Google review
Balboa Balcony Bar is such a gem! The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, the food is absolutely delicious, and the service makes you feel truly looked after. It was such a joy to spend time here and I can’t wait to come back!
Sven B — Google review
Awesome space more for your mature crowd, definitely does not have that student-life-theme which is really great! We got great service from the barman and they were friendly and knowledgeable. They clearly have a passion for mixology! We had many different cocktails and at some point we ask the barman to make a cocktail of his own design and it was awesome!! They got premium alcohol which is generally hard to find in stellenbosch. They had live music which also contributes to an awesome environment. Definitely a place to go when in stellenbosch
Skyla X — Google review
Great atmosphere, lovely staff, good drinks. The rock n roll theming (and soundtrack) is fun and the windows with Venetian blinds along the balcony give it an iconic look. The live music on Saturday and Sunday evenings is often folksy and very engaging (free entrance on Sundays!). It’s cosy in winter when they have a heater on and warm, dimmed lighting. It gets very busy, and very hot, in summer. I haven’t tried the food, but it looks good.

A nice place to grab a drink and a bite. Whether it's wine or their tasty Cape pale ale it's quite easy to spend a few hours here wining and dining with friends. The service was swift and friendly.

The whole vibe of the place is just great, with song lyrics on the walls adding a fun, nostalgic touch. I love the music inspired theme throughout. Such a cool, laid back atmosphere. Absolutely loved their unoaked Chardonnay, chef’s kiss! We also shared a snack board, which was perfect with the wine. Would definitely recommend!

Great and affordable wine. Enthusiastic staff and brilliant decor. You get a unique experience that includes wine tastings and cheese/charcuterie platters but with unique elements that include tables that double as chalkboards (they provide the chalk), and the feel of an upscale bar.

De Akker is a historic pub and restaurant located in a heritage building from the late 1700s in Stellenbosch. The name 'De Akker' means acorn in Afrikaans, paying homage to the oak-lined Church Street in Stellenbosch. It's known for its good food, wide selection of drinks, and great atmosphere.
An impromto visit on a cloudy Sunday afternoon. I love a good bottle of wine but decided on a nostolgic bottle of Tassenberg. Never knowing if you will get a good one. I was lucky. This is the oldest pub in South Africa and our watering hole since early years. The ribs was great. The rump not so much.
Vanessa G — Google review
This place is disgusting. Cleanliness clearly means nothing here. We were there just an hour ago — sat down at the table and immediately got our clothes dirty. The benches were in terrible condition, like someone had been walking on them with muddy boots. It's a complete disregard for customers. I strongly advise against visiting — it will ruin both your clothes and your mood for the entire day.
Igor B — Google review
Was a fun experience to go for a mid afternoon beer during our holiday. Before immigrating. The only annoying thing was that they allowed people to smoke inside the building making it harder for us to have a good time
Darius H — Google review
Lovely bar! Probably one of the most iconic bars in Stellenbosch if not the country. People from every walk of life has come and gone from this bar and it oozes with history. Many a theory and thesis have been formulated around the old oak tables and cold on tap beers. De Akker is for everyone who wants to experience good old stellenbosch.

Old pub landmark in Stellenbosch. During the day people of all ages go for a drink or something to eat. Evening it is mostly students. A must stop for someone visiting Stellenbosch to get the local feel.

Cheap and cheerful bar overflowing with young university students. It's claimed it's the oldest bar in Stellenbosch, but no one could tell me how old the bar was?
Declan P — Google review
Great place to stop off for a few afternoon drinks. Outdoor area has water mist sprays to keep you cool on the outside while the great selection of drinks kept me cold on the inside. We didn't have food but the portions going to neighbouring tables looked impressive.

Le Grand Domaine Enoteca, located on the bustling Church Street in Stellenbosch, is a chic and vibrant wine bar showcasing handcrafted premium wines such as The Pledge and internationally awarded Stellenview Wines. This opulent venue serves as a wine emporium, tasting venue, and bistro offering an array of regional wines for side-by-side tastings.
What a beautiful place this is, spacious and yet very intimate. The staff was welcoming with warm smiles, the atmosphere was magnificent, compliments to the chef because his food was out of this world. The waiter was kind enough to take us through what we wanted, the ambiance was just relaxed and wonderful. Prices were reasonable. We enjoyed ourselves, there was also a fire that warmed the place as it was a rainy day. Wow I’m definitely going back 👌🏽

One of the most amazing restaurants in Stellenbosch! From the atmosphere to the food and wine - all I can say is WOW! We were 16 guests and the service was amazing, Jean and his team truly went above and beyond. Thank you so much for an unbelievably special dinner!
Caitlyn D — Google review
Chose to eat here on our last night in Stellenbosch. Fabulous food, service and of course wine. Loved it.
Michael S — Google review
I had a great evening here! Definitely is the best spot for wine in Stellenbosch. I have gone through many different wine bars but the service here was astounding, the server, Lauren, was very attentive and brought a very positive energy to her service. The head waiter Josua also was very attentive and insured a good experience. The food was also out of this world and paired excellently with the wine. I am so glad I choose to experience this on a Wednesday aswell that offered great musical entertainment. I will definitely be returning. For more of the great wine and the excellent food. I can only say that this Enoteca has offered a service that has gained a repeating customer.
David T — Google review
The location / venue is fabulous. We had a lovely evening. Helpful staff, who were mostly attentive. I found the food to be a bit ‘meh’, - we had small plates and platters - the dips somewhat tasteless, the fries didn’t live up to the menu description and our lavash bread was over toasted. But would I go back for another try - yes!
Kim D — Google review
Ian Botha, the manager on duty was very engaging and made us feel right at home. The wine and pickings were absolutely spectacular. We were in intrigued by the restaurants name/s and Ian broke it down in such a way it made sense. I do encourage anyone to try this restaurant!

Nestled on Church Street, the Stellenbosch Wine Bar is a delightful spot that embodies the essence of wine culture in the region. This casual venue is dedicated to showcasing an impressive selection from the Stellenbosch Collection, featuring renowned brands like Stellenbosch Reserve and Rust en Vrede. It's not just about sipping fine wines; guests can indulge in a Mediterranean-inspired dining experience with shared plates that encourage conviviality.
Great wine selection that's obvious, but the small food menu is not to be missed. The steak sirloin was delicious and that tomato salad that comes with, is super tasty. The calamari was also good. Service was good but can be a bit slow so if busy just be patient, all worth it.
Christopher G — Google review
We visited Stellenbosch wine bar and requested to be added to the waiting list for outdoor seating since all tables outside were occupied. We were told there was only one person ahead of us, so we decided to wait outside instead of sitting indoors, which felt stuffy. Later, the waiter informed us that the manager had decided we wouldn’t be considered “customers” unless we sat indoors. This meant that even though we were on the waiting list, anyone sitting inside could bypass us and take an outdoor table if they wanted to move. When we raised this issue, the waiter admitted it was unfair but said it was the manager’s decision. The manager, Kaelin, came out and rudely insisted that the rule was “logical” and that we simply didn’t understand. She went further by dismissively saying, “If you don’t like it don’t come here, welcome to South Africa,” displaying a shocking lack of professionalism and hospitality. It’s unfortunate that such a lovely place is ruined by such an unprofessional and disrespectful manager like her. Looking at their Google ratings, it’s no surprise they are lower than expected. With a manager like Kaelin even a 4.3 rating seems generous. Avoid this place if you value good service.
Ozzy — Google review
We recently visited The Wine Bar, and I was left dumbfounded by the lack of hospitality and the rudeness of the staff, particularly the manager, Kaelin. Upon arrival, we noticed the outdoor tables were fully booked, so we politely asked if we could wait for one to become available. Instead of a warm or accommodating response, we were informed that if we didn’t sit inside first, we would lose our spot in line for an outdoor table. This felt unreasonable. When we questioned the policy, the manager’s response was nothing short of dismissive—she told us if we didn’t like it, we should find another place to dine. And, to top it off, her sarcastic remark, “Welcome to South Africa,” made me embarrassed to be South African. We ultimately decided not to dine here, but it’s concerning to think that this is how customers are being treated.
Susanna B — Google review
I honestly think this could be the best wine bar in my world. The wine choices are really good and they offer rust en Vrede as well as donkies baai wine estates. Amongst others. The service is impeccable, such kind staff. The food is also good. The sirloin tastes amazing and the fillet is tasty too. The need smaller tomato’s next to the sirloin though, baby ones would do. Also added note the place is not expensive but also not cheap. The location and atmosphere is 5 stars.
Adrian V — Google review
An exceptional experience for anyone looking for an afternoon bottle of wine accompanied by snacks. The waitresses are super friendly, make great recommendations and keep good conversation. We had the Afrikaans bottle of wine, with Salmon and a fried risotto croquet. Was lovely and we'll priced.

I went to Stellenbosch Wine Bar just by chance. Food was excellent, good choice of wine and MCC bubbles and service couldn’t be better (mostly students as waiters, they all seemed to enjoy their job and were super attentive). Prices are totally reasonable by comparison with other places. I had the hot goat cheese on hot tomatoes, tagliata with butternut purée and roasted nuts, everything absolutely delicious.

Imagine a place where you can taste and purchase all of the wines in the Stellenbosch Wine Route region… Well this is it! A wine tasting room and online shop all wrapped into one trendy spot. A must visit for wine lovers.

Just visited this place a half-hour ago. Asked waiters 3 of the standing and doing nothing if my wife and I can sit outside. Lethargic one answered yes . Just a reminder, the place is completely empty. We went and sat, and after 20 minutes, not one of them came and offered us service. 😑 To the owner. No wonder your business is empty. Simon Wine Emporium is a joke. Don't go there!!!!!! HOW MUCH DID I SPEND PER PERSON. 20 minutes of my God dam life down the drain.

I expected more from a restaurant in such a competitive marketplace like Stellenbosch. Surprisingly inattentive and slow service. But they did make it up with beautiful décor and a extensive wine list to choose from. Great place to taste many of Stellenbosch's wines. But not convinced I'll be back to dine here.
Reinhardt V — Google review
Spent time here after a wedding in the wine lands. With the wedding guests. Decent staff (just a bit slow) but maybe our group was large... But they're friendly. Enough. Awesome wine selection but limited on spirits.
Andile S — Google review
Please note that you cannot taste all the wines here! They offer select tastings. You don’t want to taste whites, too bad if that’s what they are tasting that day! You also cannot buy bottles to take away. It’s delivery only and delivery is honestly quite cost prohibitive. I feel they are pretty deceptive in their advertising. Just go to the wineries. Skip this place. Not worth it. Note - while the gentleman at the shop tried to be helpful, all he did was pass off blame to the lady who works remotely for giving wrong information. Own your mistakes.

The Fat Butcher is a must-visit for meat lovers in Stellenbosch. This restaurant, along with other dining options like Hussar Grill and De Vleispaleis, offers top-quality cuts of meat. If you prefer small plates and sharing dishes, The Wine Glass, De Warenmarkt, Jardine Food and Wine bar, and Spek & Bone are great choices.
Wow! Again this restaurant has impressed me! Food top quality! From the moment you arrive tou are treated like a valued customer. Service is 100/10. I would recommend the beef schnitzel if you are very hungry.

The welcome upon our arrival with the family was wonderful, making us feel comfortable and truly appreciated from the very first moment The food was delicious and enjoyable for both kids and adults. The staff were highly professional, and I would especially like to commend Mr. Jordon for his warm smile and excellent service. He was very attentive and explained the menu clearly.

Amazing steaks!! Thank you for letting us walk in on a late night, staff was very attentive and sweet. Got the signature steak with Peri Peri chicken livers, and my partner got the steak with some mushrooms and black truffles. Both were very filling and super flavorful. Don't sleep on the caesars salads as well. Reasonably priced.

We stumbled upon Fat Bastard without a reservation and were lucky enough to be seated outside—what a treat! The ambiance was relaxed yet refined, and we were immediately impressed when one of the staff members began tidying up the surrounding area. That attention to detail set the tone for the rest of our experience. 🍽️ Food Highlights: • Starters: The calamari was tender and flavorful, and the Wagyu steak bites were melt-in-your-mouth delicious. • Mains: We opted for the T-bone steak, and it was nothing short of phenomenal—perfectly cooked and bursting with flavor. • Dessert: The crème brûlée was the ideal finish: silky, rich, and beautifully caramelized. 👨‍🍳 Service & Atmosphere: The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive throughout our meal. Management went above and beyond to make us feel welcome, even without a booking. Their warmth and professionalism truly elevated the experience. Overall, Fat Bastard delivered an exceptional dining experience—from the food to the service to the setting. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Stellenbosch!

A must go if you are in Stellenbosch. Definitely need to book months ahead. Awesome restaurant with friendly staff. The food is soooooo good! Steak is fab! I enjoyed the food. Only downside is the prawn risotto. The prawns were overcooked and hence on the hard side. Risotto is kinda hard for my liking. Can be more flavorful. Overall great experience!

Had a great dinner here last night with some friends, Enjoyed the atmosphere and setting outside. Waiter was well informed and friendly. Their meat is exemplary and really top nodge. We had the lamb shank, filet and ribey. All perfectly done to our request. Worth the visit. Reservation definitely required.

After visiting Fat Butcher so many times in the last 9 years the quality is still consistently good. Every time we try something new, combined with our all time favorites. Today we had the graved lax as a starter: a very light and fresh dish, good to get the juices flowing for the highlight of my lunch: the Grosvenor beef fillet. It was delicate, perfectly cooked and the right combination of flavors. My husband had the van Riebeeck burger which was very much to his liking (and he tried a lot os them), the fries could have been more crunchy as they normally are, but all and all a burger for his Top 3! And let’s not forget the sticky toffee pudding to finish things off: best to share because it’s not a light dessert, but very well done. Thanks Danny for your service today and the time you made for us to have a pleasant conversation.

Wonderful place in the h earth of stellenbosch. Nice alcohol selection. Had the lamb tail appetizer. Oh my word!!! Fantastic. Never had this before and i have no idea why it’s not on other menus! Burger was good but not in the same realm even. Great fun service team. Great recommendations on wine pairing. Lovely place to hang out

Restaurant
Located on Glenelly Estate in Idas Valley, The Vine Bistro is a hidden gem in Stellenbosch known for its modern twist on classic bistro cuisine and award-winning wines. Chef patron Christophe Dehosses and head chef Alex Rykaart create weekly changing à la carte menus featuring hearty French-inspired dishes made with fresh local ingredients.
I’m not sure why it’s taken me so many years to have lunch at the Vine Bistro at Glenelly. Beautiful quality French bistro food. The confit duck was superb and the dauphinoise potatoes so creamy and garlicky Service was excellent, good selection of estate wines by the glass and other wines by the bottle Gorgeous setting too

Overall very nice place for lunch or dinner - fantastic terrace and views that set the tone. The food is something between casual modern French and fine dining. Unfortunately I noticed how the quality went downhill (last time had yellowtail tartar and it was half portion and totally bland + springbok fillet that was simply done wrong technic wise, jus was like broth - so watery and not was jus supposed to be). but if you don't seek fine dining experience and not very picky the place is great. Not expensive as well.

A gem of a place! Even though the menu has got potential for improvement. The food was delicious but could be elevated by a better presentation. The winter menu is just fair. The rest of the menu is great! Food service was slightly delayed. I've had better experiences here. Hope the take the feedback

First time we visited this beautiful restaurant. The experience from the beginning to the end was amazing. From the hospitality to the tasteful dishes. We were surprised with some extra wines to taste. This is all about exceeding expectations.

Visiting Glenelly is an experience to look forward to - always. My partner and I have been to The Vine Bistro numerous times (we usually visit for our shared Birthday and anniversary). Every element on the dish served to you has been well thought out & exceptionally prepared and paired. The staff members are delightful and true professionals. It's been a pleasure getting to know them over the course of the three years we've been visiting. Already looking forward to our next visit!

My family and I had the most appalling Sunday lunch yesterday. The quality of the food and presentation was shocking. Our steaks arrived, all hacked into pieces- it was obviously done so to disguise the terrible cut of meats they used. Every single bite of the steaks had hard gristle and thick undercooked fat. Even the chicken had gristle! Every mouthful was gristle or rubbery. The pastry of the pie was burnt to the point that you could not cut into it. We complained to our waiter and she was so sweet and apologetic. She took the 2 main meals away and compensated us with 2 starters. You'd think that sending back your main meal would give the chef a chance to redeem themselves, but what we got was literally burnt, black toast, with a very sad tuna salad. The tables around us were all complaining about their food, so the atmosphere was tense and unpleasant. Who ever is the chef, they should go back to learning the basics and stop buying in cheap cuts of meat.
R M — Google review
Exquisite French cuisine, tasty and beautifully served. Beautiful views on Stellenbosch mountains. Great wine - estate wine, but also other estates' wine. Make sure you have time after your meal to visit the on site glass museum, with friendly and very knowledgeable and enthusiastic Delene to tell you about this beautiful collection of glassware and art works. Even Salvador Dali!

Julian's Café-Bar, located on Andringa Street, is a versatile spot that transitions from a cozy café during the day to a lively bar at night. The menu offers a variety of light bites and heartier meals, with their nachos being particularly popular. The establishment also provides generous daily specials, making it a favorite among students. In the evening, Julian's transforms into a swanky bar with a relaxed atmosphere where patrons can enjoy classic cocktails and new creations while listening to funky tunes.
We had a double birthday celebration at Julians Café-Bar! They accommodated our 15 person party with excellent service! The food was amazing. They have specials everyday! The atmosphere was great! I would recommend anyone wanting a great evening out with friends to go to Julians Café-Bar! Tiny was an amazing host! Very friendly and accommodating!

I would definitely say this place is more meant for the students of the university, as it always packed with students and the locals rarely get a chance to go there unless it is during holiday times when the students isn't here and then Julians is quiet. Overall it is a nice place, they have weekly specials that is nice and the prizes are reasonable.
Jamie P — Google review
The food was good. There really isn't anything bad that you can say about it. But unfortunately it still remains (café) food. Not that this is a bad thing. There portions are really good. Flavour is good it fits in really well with the feel of the store. As long as you are not expecting fine dining. The only thing that I would not is that when it's busy it can get quite noise. Which is fine. But all round really nice place to stop for a quick bite. Morning noon or night. And easy on your pocket too.

Service was good. The food, not so much. Not sure if loadshedding had an influence on it, but the chips was very oily (like there's oil inside the chip) and the baked beans needed a little help. I enjoyed my sausage, bacon and egg.

Aandklas Stellenbosch is a student-focused bar with a dark and smoky allure inside, offering nightly distractions like foosball, pool, beer pong, and quiz nights. The exterior blends seamlessly with neighboring boutiques and cafes adorned with colorful graffiti and twinkling lights. It's a lively spot where young crowds gather for live music, karaoke nights, and competitive pool games. The bar also serves an array of wings, burgers, and pizzas to fuel up for the night.
Great vibes and great music, I would also highly recommend the pizza it's reasonably priced and tastes great.
Adrian S — Google review
Had a fun night out with my cousin and her boyfriend while on a short trip to Cape Town. The pizzas were awesome and the drinks are amazing, love the affordability. The service could be a little better and I wish someone would monitor the ladies bathroom as drunk guys tend to try and follow ladies into the bathroom. Just something to think about as a safety precaution. The overall vibe is really chilled and I'll definitely come back.
Donne B — Google review
Good sized venue, more than one bar, multiple sections and an outside area. Good music and cheap drinks. Also the best toilet roll holder ever…
Robyn C — Google review
The pub gives you a very rock & roll feel. It’s probably perfect for students here with cheap alcohol and food. They have live performances over weekends featuring African metal ? If this is your vibe you should definitely give this a try. I personally didn’t enjoy my time here and the nachos were quite the disappointment but the peppermint jaeger shots were 👌🏼 We were told by the locals that the location is quite sketchy and we shouldn’t park our car there or even go by foot.

Bouncers are in charge of the allowable dress code. They often have shown friends the door if they think your attire does not fit the exact description as what they were instructed clients may wear...even if the attire was of good and respectable fashion ... or at least a bouncer that will actually follow you like a shadow until you take off the clothing that does not fit the dress code.

A very bad restaurant and club to visit. The black bouncers are very stupid towards their fellow black brothers. They couldnt allow my friend to go in using his ID photo on the phone. But they allowed the white ladies in the same manner. We went to speak to the supervisors and they didn't bother to even hear the story and help. You can tell they are very racist.

Nestled in the Devon Valley on a 20-hectare protea and vineyard farm, Sugarbird Manor offers chic rooms and suites with stunning views of the surrounding mountains and valleys. The property's stylish guesthouse sits atop a hill covered in vineyards, providing picturesque vistas reminiscent of rural Italy.
Sugarbird Manor felt like a peaceful paradise in Stellenbosch! Everything was just perfect. Our room was spacious, clean, modern and had an amazing view. The freshly prepared breakfast was delicious and the staff is very friendly. And with two swimming pools there is always enough room to relax and soak in the beautiful surroundings.

We spend 6 nights at this beautiful place in the charming Devon Valley close to Stellenbosch. My guests were given the newly built rooms next to the pool and they were very happy with the amenities and interior. The size of the rooms might be a bit small, specially when travelling with large suitcases and golf equipment but they arranged themselves well. The service staff was lovely and breakfast offered everything they needed and more. The tranquility and perfect view made up for the distance from Stellenbosch and other places. Definitely worth staying and can only recommend this great Boutique hotel. We were a group of 8 and enjoyed every minute of it. Thank you Team for your welcoming hospitality!

What a magnificent place to stay. I hired out the entire Sugarbird Manor for 2 nights for my daughters wedding at Landtscap. There were 40 of our family and friends staying there. It was an absolute pleasure to deal with all the helpful staff that work there. They could not do enough to try and assist us and make sure our stay was memorable. From arranging an additional harvest lunch table for the guests which was so reasonably priced, to allowing an extra 40 people to join for breakfast on the Sunday morning after the wedding. Everything was exceptional. The rooms are clean and beautiful. The views and grounds are next level. I cannot recommend this place highly enough!
Bernadette S — Google review
Visited the Sugarbird Manor after coming from Cape Town. A real breath of fresh air due to the calmness and beautiful vistas. The pool is the centrepiece with the lawn in front looking out at the mountains. In regards to the manor, the rooms are neat and have a very nice bathroom. Not to forget the staff is super friendly and attentive: a real plus if you ask me. Thanks Caitlyn for receiving us and helping us during our stay. One point for improvement would be to soundproof the rooms more on the ground floor. Guests who walk in the hall can be heard really well.

The manor is beautifully situated with breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and valleys. The gardens are well maintained, offering a serene environment where one can unwind and soak in the natural beauty. The bedrooms are spacious, elegantly decorated. Highly recommend for anyone visiting this part of South Africa.

MolenVliet Vineyards is a luxurious hotel situated on a picturesque winery estate in the heart of Stellenbosch Wine country. The estate offers refined accommodations, including Mountain View Executive Suites and Mountain View Luxury Suites, each with en-suite facilities and private balconies overlooking the stunning Drakenstein Mountains and Estate Vineyards.
We stayed for one night and had a lovely stay. The rooms are spacious and finished to a high quality. Loved the private pool and view from the balcony. It’s a very quiet property but we did feel safe. However, you need to make plans for dinner as there’s no restaurant on site. Staff were all very formerly and helpful, tasty breakfast and it really is a beautiful and peaceful place to stay.
Megan L — Google review
While the setting of MolenVliet is beautiful, our wedding experience in March was unfortunately marred by significant issues, particularly regarding management and their post-event conduct. Upon arrival, we were rudely accosted by what we assume was a manager for accidentally parking on the lawn, despite there being no signage indicating this was forbidden. It's frustrating to be met with such hostility, especially for an occasion that should be joyous. Adding to this, the lawn itself was in poor condition, with a prominent muddy bare patch right in the centre of our ceremony area, forcing us to quickly (and at additional cost) arrange an aisle runner to cover it. For a venue of this supposed caliber, this is unacceptable. Furthermore, our post-wedding experience has been incredibly frustrating. We diligently paid all our installments on time and with proof of payment. However, almost two months later, we are still awaiting the return of our deposit. Numerous emails to Micaela have gone unanswered, showing a complete lack of responsiveness and professionalism. It's clear that MolenVliet is quick to demand prompt payments and cooperation from clients, but fails to reciprocate with basic customer service once the event is over. The only positive highlight was the truly fantastic service provided by the Manor House staff during our stay. Their attentiveness and professionalism were a stark contrast to the rest of our experience. Overall, our wedding at MolenVliet was overshadowed by managerial rudeness, neglected grounds, and a blatant disregard for post-event client communication. We would strongly caution others considering this venue.
Chevaun H — Google review
My partner and I had the most beautiful time at MolenVliet. From the moment we arrived, we were completely in awe of the spectacular views. We were welcomed by the lovely Julene, who went above and beyond to make our stay extra special. We honestly couldn’t recommend this place more highly!
Nicola Z — Google review
A disappointing experience and lack of professionalism. I recently attended my sister’s wedding at this venue, where I was the maid of honor. The reception was held indoors when, to our great surprise, a massive water leak appeared from the ceiling, turning the place into a disaster scene. It was like a shower pouring from above, and the water started spreading everywhere, threatening to flood the entire area. Guests themselves had to mop the floor to prevent the flooding from worsening. This was not only embarrassing but also very dangerous. Such an incident should never have occurred in a supposedly professional and safe venue. What was even more disappointing was that the management showed no compassion and offered no commercial gesture to apologize for the inconvenience. They simply said it wasn’t their fault, without taking any responsibility or providing a satisfactory explanation. I strongly advise against this venue for important events. A lack of safety and service at this level is unacceptable, especially for an occasion as unique as a wedding.
Annaëlle M — Google review
What an amazing stay. Waking up to the mountains and vineyards view, and amazing breakfast and the lovely staff, all super attentive and kind. Very well located, close to some of the best estates in the area. Highly recommend and can’t wait to be back.
Luana H — Google review
Extremely disappointing experience and blatant lack of professionalism. I recently attended my brother’s wedding as the maid of honor for his wife. From the start, the room arrangements created significant confusion: large rooms were given to less important guests, while close family members, including the parents, were left with small, inadequate rooms. This caused a lot of stress for the bride and the whole family as soon as we arrived. We had also reserved the manor house specifically for the bride and bridesmaids to prepare in privacy. However, on the morning of the wedding, while we were in robes and getting ready, guests we didn’t know entered our private space, thinking they could help themselves to our breakfast. The staff had poorly communicated to them that they weren’t supposed to eat here, and despite the uncomfortable situation, they allowed these strangers to finish our breakfast. This ruined the intimate atmosphere and put us in a very awkward position. Additionally, during the reception, a major leak occurred in the ceiling. A shower of water started pouring down, endangering guests and creating chaos. We all felt unsafe in a venue that should have been well-prepared for such an event. Despite all these issues, no apology or commercial gesture was offered by the staff. I strongly advise against this venue for an important event like a wedding. The lack of professionalism and safety is unacceptable.

Lovely place, with amazingly friendly owners who are always willing to help. Rooms are very clean and tidy, with all amenities, and in a quite neighborhood for peaceful sleep. The breakfast is great, home made, with great service and friendly staff. The location is also great, with a 10 minute walk to the university buildings, and 10 minute walk to the centre of town with all restaurants.

The room was very clean. There's complimentary sherry, tea and coffee, which is a lovely touch. However, the room is very plain and underwhelming. For the price, I expected more. There's no TV in the room, although there is one available in the common area. My shower in the morning was lukewarm at best. The shower door did not close properly so there was a steady draft of cool air while having the cold shower. That also resulted in a pool of water at the door of the shower. The host was very friendly. Breakfast was great. A selection of cold options and hot options, as well as a selection of cheeses, which I thought was a great touch.

So, avoid Room 5 in your booking..the room was extremely small, the door lintels very low and the bathroom window looks directly onto the rubbish bin collection. Also no TV except in the common room and located right next to the room........This room is advertised as Standard, but it wasnt of our standard.

Nice guesthouse within walking distance of the center of Stellenbosch. Bernice is a very friendly host and welcomes you very nicely. The room was spacious and there is a pool to cool down. Unfortunately we had an issue with the a/c in the middle of the summer but Bernice did everything to provide a more than acceptable solution, which is very much appreciated. Thanks for the excellent service. Would recommend and would come back.

Bar
Nu’Bar in Stellenbosch is an upmarket club that offers a nicely sized dance floor for those who love to dance and a chill-out area for those who prefer a more relaxed atmosphere. While it mainly caters to students, it also welcomes an older crowd. The club is most lively on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, with the last Thursday of the month dedicated to Afrikaans Night featuring classic Afrikaans tunes.
Great atmosphere, however the fish tank is disturbing. I would consider it animal abuse as we can clearly see it is not clean and fish have visible parasites.

You get assaulted and robbed outside in front of the bouncer and he does nothing. Pathetic! Disgusting! Bouncer claimed he saw nothing, but later on after demanding information he said he saw a guy in a black tshirt taking the phone. Wouldn’t let you back inside to find the person.
Rozanne R — Google review
I was low-key scammed by the bartender on the night of 17th March. I ordered a beer that costs R38. The bartender took a payment for R50 without telling me first, then claimed it as a tip because apparently they only accept minimum payments of R50. He probably should've told me before hand about it. No apologies, no attempts to fix the situation, no anything. Just carried on working. I guess, the rumours are true then, the staff does scam people there.
Lui P — Google review
This was meant to be the venue for a matric dance afterparty with exclusive access for the matrics and much older people were getting let in. Bouncers were trying to kick people out who had bought tickets and were within the age limit set for the event unless they bought them a drink. Other bouncers were dragging random people out for no reason and then letting them back in 20 minutes later just for fun. The bouncers are on a complete power trip. Also it was meant to be a safe and closed event and no measures were taken to ensure that.

Staff remain hidden in back room, but shout loudly to each other in Xhosa. So noisy! Hard to get service.Customers stand and wait at front counter, then leave without Nu staff caring or showing their faces. Customer has to AsK for each thing. Sugar then brought. Ask for a spoon to stir with! Straws too thin for the thick smoothies. Staff shrug. No thick straws. 16:30 all chairs and tables packed up.ore customers come in, stand at counter, obviously want takeaways. Staff nowhere! No clue how to give service. Only the Light skinned Black man behaved like he understands English. The Cashier seems not to know the Menu. Your food is great. I've been 4x, each time cashier not at the till, and no waitresses to be seen. Surely, the reason these people are employed, is to serve and attend to customers and increase orders, but nah! They don't care.

Zorgvliet Wines Country Lodge, located in the picturesque Banhoek Valley near Stellenbosch, boasts a rich history dating back to the 1890s. The estate's oldest building now serves as a charming chapel and is a popular choice for weddings. Guests can enjoy stunning views of the Simonsberg Mountain from the outdoor pool area and indulge in wine tastings amidst the rolling vineyards.
Very beautiful establishment, we stayed for a night but could have extended easily if our travel plans would have allowed that. We had the family room and it was amazing. Two bathrooms and two bedrooms. The dinner was so delicious, we booked the option where you can select for choices out of a 5 course menu. All the options were very delicious. My favorite was the Salmon Poke Bowl. Once we arrived we got a voucher for wine tasting. The place is 800m away and in walking distance. Great place to enjoy the three wines and taste them. We also used the Paddel tennis court which was a lot of fun.

Hotel and the area are really nice and beautiful. However small details like staff attitude, late pool and terrace cleaning when everyone is awake in the morning and poor breakfast options variety (a la cart menu and you can choose only 1 main option and 1 muesli, nothing more) spoiled our impression.
Marina V — Google review
We booked a family room here for 2 nights and were very disappointed with the room given to us (room 12). The state of the bathroom was disgusting and completely unhygienic with mould all around and blocked drains. The room was badly maintained. When I complained to Aneen the manager, she said she was fully booked so could not give us another room. She also said that the room has been complained about previously and required full renovation and offered us a full refund straight away if we wanted to go elsewhere. We could not go ahead with this as there was no room availability in the area last minute. She then said the best compensation she could give us was a small 400 rand (about £16) credit to use in the hotel. This was completely insulting as we paid over £200 per night for the room. When we asked if the owner was available to discuss the matter, we were told that they did not wish to communicate with any guests. We later found out that the owner Stefan in fact lives on the same estate. This experience spoilt the rest of our time in Stellenbosch and would not recommend the place to anyone. The hotel is clearly only here to make money whether or not the room is in a liveable state. The pictures show that this is definitely not a 4 star hotel.

This is one of the wine tasting rooms, which thankfully featured an oped fire. We spent a very pleasant couple of hours here dodging the rain. Wines were very nice and the mixed platter was even better. Its a long drive up to the lodge but well worth it. Cheers 🍷

I went there a while ago but thought that I should write a review. This is a very nice place to do wine tasting overlooking the beautiful vineyard. The staff were friendly. They had some very nice wines that were good to keep for a few years. They even bubble wrapped the wines for me so that I could safely put them in my luggage.

Nestled in the heart of Stellenbosch, Le Chant Wines is a delightful fusion of French elegance and South African spirit. This wine bar beautifully reflects the rich history of winemaking in the Cape, where centuries-old traditions meet modern techniques. With a commitment to crafting exceptional wines that are both classic and unique, Le Chant has carved out its niche in a competitive market.
On the corner of the street you’ll find Le Chant Wine Bar. A place that has a nice outdoor as well as authentic-feeling pub-like indoor seating. Service is friendly, selection of wine pretty amazing. I didn’t like the sausage on the platter, but loved all the rest. Seeing as the tables were all full, I think everyone agrees in these parts.
Stefan B — Google review
If you’re going to launch a new brand in an already saturated wine market, you need to make sure that you’re releasing top notch juice, and I believe Le Chant Wines has managed to do just that 🔥😮‍💨 The Rouge is a “Mediterranean” style blend which is Merlot dominant with a supporting cast of Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz and Sangiovese. The Le Chant vineyards lie on the Polkadraai Hills (one of my favourite wards in Stellenbosch) so this wine really manages to capture the essence of the earth. Merlot and Shiraz, especially from this region, are outstanding conductors of terroir. This wine shows vibrant character on the nose, elegant complexity on the palate and boasts a long, juicy, yet layered finish. It’s drinkability is familiar, but also not. My other half got stuck into the baguette served with olive oil, red wine vinegar and Dukkah which paired ridiculously well with their Chenin Blanc 💫 The Le Chant Wine Bar is situated on the corner of Bird & Church street, Stellenbosch. I’d recommend making a turn when next in the area. Ps. Props to Arjoon, our waitron/wine steward. He did a stellar job and his attention to detail was first-class 🤝 #lechant #decoq #lechantwinebar #stellenbosch #capewinelands #wine

The fillet was cooked to perfection well the pepper sauce complimented it wonderfully. The crème brûlée lacked vanilla flavor but was still delicious and the cappuccino was adequate. The service was attentive and although it was empty at the time I can picture it having a very nice atmosphere.

Friendly and professional service. Lovely spot for a working lunch at the outside tables. I expected a bit more from the awesome looking hake&chips, with mushy peas, somewhat lacking in taste, especially at this price point. Nevertheless, I will be back for the rest of the menu. Thank you.

I have to afmit because I was looking for a place to dine at no 99, this was basicly the only place that had space. Atmosphere is nice but from the moment you set foot in the place you get a feel of urgency. Order you starter, main and dessert all at once is what they prefer. Not the kind of way I want to dine. Service attendant could do with some extra training, she was not all bad but also not excellent. Attention to detail was dropped a couple of times. Food well lets see, starters was good especially the salt and pepper squid and the arancini balls. Risotto was ok but kinda felt not worthy of the name risotto. Mains was a dissapointment I had the Kingklip that was overcooked with a huge lump of mash, onky good thing on the plate was the 3 florets of broccoli. The battered fish was also overcooked and the lambshank was okeyish. Dessert was quite good, all of them no complaints. I have to desire to return there at all.

The good stuff: the food and the vibes were both great, and staff were friendly. The bad: they completely forgot about my wife's meal, and when they did bring it, it had to be sent back because it had goat's cheese, which we had requested be omitted. My pizza was cold by the time she could start eating. Their website says to ask about vegan options, but they do not understand the difference between vegan and vegetarian.

We stayed at Spier Hotel for just one night during our honeymoon — and we truly wish we had stayed longer. The estate is absolutely stunning and serene, perfect for winding down. Our room was spacious, beautifully decorated, and even had a cozy fireplace. We had a good dinner at the restaurant, a good opportunity to pair with the wine they produce and took full advantage of the amazing spa with a 60-minute massage — one of the best spa experiences I’ve ever had. There’s also wine tasting and other relaxing activities on site. A peaceful, elegant escape. Strongly recommend!

Second time visiting this Hudsons and both times have been great, first was in summer when we sat outside and this time was in winter, we sat inside and they had fireplaces going to keep the place warm. Food - I could make a long review explaining how the three of us were drooling over how good it was but I'll keep this short haha. The food was amazing and always recommend this to friends and family. Service was great, friendly, explained things thoroughly and always smiling.

A small group of us visited Hudson’s on a Tuesday evening, the night before a public holiday. Upon our arrival we were told that our drinks orders would take 50 minutes, we decided to stay but regret this entirely. After eventually recruiting a waitress for the night, we were continuously fighting for her attention. Over an hour we waited for our wine and milkshakes to arrive, and were very disappointed with the quality. The milkshakes were small and contained less than two Oreos (note the price R60+). The glasses of wine also could not be produced within an hour and had to be chugged down as we had the impression that the staff wanted us to leave. Please see photos attached of umbrellas being carried past our table, and chair stacking that totally disrupted any hint of ambiance. We will definitely not be returning to this disappointing restaurant.

Service was efficient and attentive. Drinks were very good and glasses were chilled too which was a nice detail. Decided to order some pizza which was prepared in a timely manner. Unfortunately, the cheese on the pizza was rancid. We informed our server who informed the manager who told us that he would investigate the matter. The conclusion being that the cheese was indeed rancid. Our server was apologetic and accommodating however, it would have been appreciated to have an apology from the manager who we didn't see for the rest of our time there. Additionally, a small gesture of sympathy such as having our drinks bill (R200) settled would have been appreciated considering the potential risk we assumed in consuming spoiled food. All things considered the service is good, and the drinks are great but, I personally won't be eating here again.

I do not have experience with the rooms, as we only go for the SPA treatment. We have gone for many years to Majeka House, as they had such good massage therapists and facilities. I used to recommend Majeka House to everyone that was looking for a massage. I do not know if the hotel got sold, but the service is really not up to standard anymore. No more heated pool; Jacuzzi is gone. It was always a treat going there, but now not anymore. Sadly I have to now look for another place after all these years.

The place recently opened from a previous owner and renovations being done but at the same time you won't even notice or feel like they are cause it's a beautiful place to visit...sauna, spa, cigar lounge, indoor (heated) and outdoor swimming pool and the rooms are amazing with a a touch of mature setup
Cedric L — Google review
If you book this place do not let them put you in room 203 or 204 until the issues below are fixed! This hotel has a lot of potential but let down by poor quality room maintenance and lack of sound proofing. The overall hotel facilities are good, it was enjoyable to relax in the gardens or in the cocktail lounge, and the breakfasts were reasonable although choice limited. However, we had a leaking toilet which kept making refilling noise which was particularly noticeable at night and although we informed the manager, he did not ensure it got fixed or offer us an alternative room (there isn't full doors on the bathroom to block it out either). On the second night they then put a couple of loud men next door and we discovered that the adjoining door between the room although closed and locked offered zero privacy - you could hear EVERYTHING through it. From them using the bathroom, to what they were talking about, sneezing, snoring, loudly closing wardrobe doors, making coffee etc etc. It felt more like staying in a hostel and was not an experience of a supposedly 5* boutique hotel.

I have a feeling we will become regulars!

🍕 "Toppings Galore in the Heart of Stellies!" 🍷 If you're looking for the best spot in Stellenbosch for pizza, Gino's is the place to be! Their pizzas are loaded — literally — with the most toppings you’ll find anywhere. Each bite is packed with flavour, thanks to their authentic wood-fired oven that brings out the best in every crust. The vibe? Relaxed and cozy, with a warm, inviting atmosphere that makes it perfect for long lunches or chilled dinners with friends and family. Whether you're catching up with a group or just grabbing a quick bite, Gino’s hits the spot every time. The service is friendly, the prices are very reasonable, and the setting is casual — just what you want from a laid-back local gem. Definitely a Stellenbosch must-visit!

This Italian Restaurant is hidden off street, behind the other buildings right on Dorp street. It was a nice surprise to see the tremendous vibe at this little spot. The beer and pizza were great and affordable. It was quite busy, so very viby, it just slowed down the service a bit. Overall a fun experience.

I was pleasantly surprised the other day when a friend suggested we go to Gino’s. Their pizzas were different but really good and their drinks are some of the best prices in town ! As far as I know they don’t take reservation so if you’d like to watch rugby here, you’ll have to come super early. The service was also great, although they can get quite busy so expect a little but of a wait.

Gino's Stellenbosch is nothing like its website. It is a large student facility whete you go for pizza and TV. We were a group of 4 older people from outside Stellenbosch and chose it for the photos and description on website. The steak ordered was terrible, calamari mediocre and mellazane good. Not recommennded for a group like ours. The positive was it was open on a Sunday evening when other favourites were closed.

What a beautiful experience, wine tasting on top of a hill ( or if you would call it a mountain). The view is magnificent 🤩🤩🤩. I won’t recommend this place if you go on a budget R500 + per person. But definitely worth your money 🤗

Our little family love the wine country and wine tasting is our passion. The tasting was hosted by a very talented young lady. Pity her name slips my memory. But the Deck was culinary disaster. Raw burgers. Pizza if that is what was served. Reading the reviews, clearly no implementation by management to improve food quality. I hope the new owners take note. Will pop around in 2 months.

Marine was amazing! She served our wine with such care and professionalism. Super friendly, attentive, and made the whole experience even better. Would definitely come back just for her service!

Great venue, we were a table of 16 and got asked to be split up as our business did not seem wanted as a family all together. I do not recommend if you are coming as a family or as a group. Treated shockingly by manager and had to leave.

This was a venue for our wedding and we stayed there for the weekend with most of our guests. The venue stay was amazing. The staff were professional and very friendly. Tim really made our guests feel at home and the size of the venue is great for all ages. The space allows the kids to run around and play. Morning and night you get to see stunning views and beautiful . The chef made great food for the wedding and our cake was beautiful.

We hosted a small conference at Webersburg and were absolutely blown away! From the planning right through to execution, everything was seamless. The team’s hospitality was outstanding, communication was clear and helpful, and the setup was flawless. Our guests couldn’t stop raving about the food — the savoury muffins were a hit, lunch was delicious, and the brownies… absolute showstoppers! Thank you to everyone at Webersburg for making our event so special. We’ll definitely be back next year!

Sandra and Dylan are exceptionally professional in their services. Owners must look after these staff they’re indispensable. The food is reasonable and cappuccinos are to die for. Not too chaotic and absolutely pet friendly.

10 out of 10! Best wine farm picnic of all. The location was stunning and the food was sensational! Chef went the extra mile by providing gourmet vegan for our son in law! Our furkid was also allowed to join us. An all out brilliant day. Thank you so much, we will be back!

I was here for a conference but I have actually eaten breakfast here before with my husband. This place is so beautiful. It was simply amazing sitting next to the dam, watching the geese and just resetting before the next round of our conference. The food is delicious and fitted in perfectly with its surroundings.

I recently attended a conference at Webersburg and I’m beyond impressed. It was a rainy, chilly day in Stellies but the helpful, friendly and attentive staff kept the fire burning in our venue. The views are incredible and the food was delicious and I could see lots of care was taken with the preparation. I would love to return when back in the Western Cape.

For the restaurant. I had the chicken burger for lunch. It was really good. The ciabatta bun was super soft and buttery. The coleslaw was very bright and offset the fried chicken. For dessert we had the lemon cheesecake. It was so good. It had a toasted meringue on top and the crust was good as well. 10/10. Would recommend this winery for a lunch stop if you are in the area for wine tastings. The view from the dining area is also pretty amazing.

Friendly, helpful and welcoming Sandra at the tasting room lifted the spirits and gave me a brilliant tasting experience. Having been away from South Africa for soooo long, her warm friendly smile and laughter is exactly what I needed. Thank you Sandra!

This cozy spot is ideal for families and travelers seeking authentic South African cuisine, featuring highlights like the highly recommended cheese board known as the De Stomme Jonge Platter and fresh roosterkoek.
Delicious, fresh roosterkoek. Real south african food, I would suggest this for any family. If you are a foreigner you really can't skip this restaurant as you will miss an authentic South African meal. It is a lovely setup, you can decide whether you want to sit on the stoep, inside or at the back. It is a cozy, relaxed and homey place. The portions are proper and the menu has a wide variety

Lovely atmosphere, affordable drinks, and pleasant food. Limited menu, but good options if you’re looking specifically for a roosterkoek. However, the service is a bit slow. Overall, a great place if you’re looking for a chilled dinner in a beautiful setting.

Cozy place to drink a beer and eat roosterkoek. Popular under locals.

Especially nice and cozy, small but very nice vibe, and very very pretty. Almost integrated into old housing with a great old tree on the street separating one table from the rest which I was fortunate enough to sit at. Good variety of beer on tap, with their own house lager too! Best of all... No castle light available!! Also with a few nice bottled crafts available. Definitely a favourite

I really love this tiny bar. The food, the people, the atmosphere - it's all great. You can go sit here with a group of friends, or even by yourself, and end up meeting new people and being the last to leave. The food is delicious and the bar prices are good. Definitely worth a visit.

This is a great hidden gem. Fun to go there with a few friends and have a nice relaxing intimate time. They have a great selection of games available to play and the feel you get from this place is really something to experience. Love coming here to get out of the bustle of other much over crowded places to relax a bit.

We loved our brief stay here. Rene was an incredible host and helped us feel welcome and went out of her way to give us recommendations. It's a beautiful property and we enjoyed the breakfast.

For our brief stay here everything was exceptional! All of the rooms were clean and beautifully decorated, the staff were all friendly and hospitable. We came back late in the evening after a wedding and they allowed us use of the pool room to continue the festivities. Breakfast in the morning was amazing, and the staff were very kind and accommodating to alter breakfast options for small children. The area is absolutely beautiful and well maintained. Had a wonderful time here and would definitely recommend it!
Imogen K — Google review
We enjoyed our quick overnight stay and loved every moment. Our host Rene was fabulous and went above and beyond to make our stay wonderful and also gave us lovely recommendations for the remainder of our vacation!
Tabatha S — Google review
Very disappointing experience. The rooms were grotty, the geyser wasn’t switched on and we all had to take cold showers while getting ready for a wedding. The ladies came to clean the room at 1pm as we were getting ready and when we requested that they come back later, they said they needed to go home so our cottage wasn’t cleaned once during our two day stay. We selected this accommodation as it was 2km away from the wedding we were attending, only to find out that the road access was restricted, turning it into a 25 minute journey. When we arrived at the venue, other guests confirmed that their accommodation provided them with access to the private road. It was disappointing that no effort was made to assist us in this regard. The only redeeming factor was René who was lovely.

We only had the Slider Trio to share, which came with a wine pairing. The trio consisted of 2 beef sliders with different toppings and the 3rd a pulled pork. All were delicious 😋 and flavour filled, and the wine was pretty good. My favourite was the Synergy blend. Definitely worth the visit.

Excellent food, great choices with excellent service, all in a venue with beautiful decor. A selection of 80's music plays in tbe background, though better suited to Rock-n-Roll guitar jamming music lovers, which doesn't quite match the genre of this venue.

Awesome wine bar in the trendy area of Stellenbosch. We had a perfectly good Beyerskloof Pinotage Reserve with Cheese Burger and chips.
Jan M — Google review
The Beyerskloof Wynbar was awesome! The food was excellent all round (4 of us had the ribs special which is 500g for R109, whaaaat?! And one had a toasted sandwich). Really, the food was amazing! On top of this, there are R35 for a double brandy and coke or double gin and tonic specials 👀 We shared a bottle of Traildust wine after getting a great and passionate description of the wine from Jacques. The wine was excellent and worked well with the ribs. The wine selection is good with wines ranging from under R100 to R800 for the premium and the process are the same as those on the farm. The waiters were fast and friendly and the food arrived pretty quickly. We'll be visiting this spot regularly in the future. Would highly recommend.

The 'celler' in town. No need to drive out if you can get it all here. Wine prices are very reasonable and the food is scrumptious. Their toasties are the best and they serve it in 'boere' slices 😋😋😋 Every night here is a good night out!

The on-site restaurant and wine tasting lounge provide an array of delectable flavors from Cape Malay to European fusion cuisine. Visitors rave about the world-class wine tasting experience and the breathtaking views of the vineyards.
We had a lovely night's stay at the hotel. The mountain views are unequalled. The staff are friendly and accommodating. Our spa treatments were easy to arrange and lovely. We also had a delicious dinner at the restaurant and a very filling breakfast in the morning. It must be exquisite in summer when you can use the pool and jacuzzi.

My partner and I recently had the absolute pleasure of celebrating my birthday week at Alluvia, and it was truly an experience I will never forget. From the moment we arrived, we felt like important guests — not just another booking. At the gate, I was warmly greeted by my first name, which instantly set the tone for the kind of personal and thoughtful service that defines Alluvia. The reception team, made up of the most wonderful and friendly ladies, were always ready to assist with a smile. Their warmth and attentiveness made me feel right at home while still wrapped in luxury. The accommodation itself is the definition of elegance. Every detail from the stylish bedroom to the pristine bathroom and even the convenience of secure parking reflected pure sophistication and comfort. Upon arrival, we were surprised with three bottles of Alluvia’s signature wine, a generous and thoughtful welcome. Our stay included a complimentary full breakfast each morning, which was as delicious as it was beautifully presented. To top it all off, on our final day we enjoyed a wine-tasting experience, making the perfect ending to an already perfect getaway. Alluvia didn’t just host us, they created memories. It was more than a stay; it was an experience of luxury, warmth, and personalized care that I will treasure forever.

A SURREAL stay in the heart of Stellenbosh!! This property is truly so beautiful and charming, we loved the view of the pool and mountains from our room and private patio. The service was exceptional, and we really valued the turndown service throughout the day. We enjoyed a filling and wonderful breakfast each morning on the restaurant's outdoor terrace, and we even got to visit with some friendly farm animals including a baby alpaca. Some of the most amazing vineyards in the area are a walk away, or you can rent bikes to check them out! We also hopped on the wine tram which was a lot of fun. Overall an amazing stay at Alluvia, we will be back!

Alluvia is a beautiful boutique hotel. Location is amazing and it’s a perfect for an intimate gateway. It was really nice waking up & having breakfast with gorgeous views. I stayed in Oakleaf 3 & would not have had it any other way. Staff are amazing. Jamie was always available to answer my questions in regards to booking & helped me book activities outside the hotel. Staff at the restaurant were really nice & friendly especially Olivia. Breakfast was included in my stay and was 10/10. Portions were massive & it was really scrumptious. The lunch/ dinner menu could do with a little more options. If you wanted to stay in, it would be the same options everyday. The guy at the front desk offered to take me cycling around the hotel which was nice of him. Would def go back again.

We held our daughter's wedding here and it was fantastic! From the rehearsal dinner braai to the wedding to the brunch on Sunday, all of the food was delicious. The staff were so kind and welcoming and being able to have so many people stay on site was the best. Elizma is one of a kind and she made sure the wedding went smoothly, patiently answered all our questions, and helped make the weekend magical. We planned it all long distance and it all came together beautifully. I highly recommend Alluvia!

Very nice view and venue, decent meal, but was slightly spoilt by the inflexiblity of the manager. Ordered a beer and the wine tasting. The wine was good and the beer wasn't great. Then ordered the wings special which came with a glass of wine and the rib special which came with Beer. Asked to swap the beer for the wine as I didnt enjoy the beer and was refused. No accommodation, discussion, or interest in us. So would rank them poor on customer service and satisfaction.

I visited Eendracht Hotel’s restaurant recently to have a meal and get some work done on my laptop. I later realised I had accidentally left my pencil case by the window. The staff were incredibly helpful and kind—especially Danie at the front desk. They found the item, responded to my message promptly and assisted with a courier pickup I arranged from out of town. They even helped pack the item and I received it in less than 24 hours! Am truly impressed by their professionalism and warm service. We have stayed here numerous times. It has always been great. The last time, we felt that it wasn't up to standard, but booked again and now agree we won't be back. We got the feeling that they were not putting money onto the hotel. Our Aircon was leaking on to our bed in the room.We reported it, but all they did was put the temperature up and then ask if it was alright numerous times we kept saying it wasn't....when we left, 3 days later, it was still dripping .Parking is a nightmare. There is a lady parking attendant that sits on a chair at the gate. She is rude and has no way of speaking to the hotel customers. We felt that the manager should be at breakfast chatting to clients, seeing that everyone's breakfast was ok and that they were happy. Sorry to leave this beautiful old hotel.Always loved staying there.

As soon as I arrived at this hotel, the staff welcomed me warmly and went above and beyond the call of duty. Despite a mistake made by my booking agent, the team handled it with professionalism and grace, taking responsibility for a situation they didn't cause. They worked hard to resolve it promptly, providing customer service that truly stood out. Their dedication to guest satisfaction made my stay in the town truly memorable. They turned a potentially frustrating experience into a delightful one. I can't thank the team enough for their kindness and hospitality. I wholeheartedly recommend this hotel and look forward to returning on my next trip. The staff's commitment to service sets this place apart, and it's a hotel I'd choose to return to any day!

This was the first time I have been there after receiving a recommendation about this restaurant. We were 4 and looked after by a young lady called Franziska. She did a really good job. The tacos are lovely it is almost always on the lunch agenda for Tuesdays. Fresh and wholesome ingredients with lazy cooked pulled pork as well as well as delicious chicken or beef options. The beer and hard drinks are great and a wide variety is offered. The vibe in the restaurant is great and it can get quite full on weekend nights. The outdoor seating areas are wonderful during the warmer summer months and the inside is beautifully decorated with old and vintage photos. Overall a lovely experience and would recommend to anyone looking for a fun night out.

I’m a big fan of my local Tiger’s Milk so was keen to try this one out. I appreciate the friendly service but unfortunately found the burger a bit dry, both the bun and the coleslaw that the burger was served with. The mac and cheese balls got good reviews though. And the chipotle aioli is my new favourite dipping sauce.

After passing by Tigers Milk a lot, my wife and I finally decided to give them a try and we had a very good experience. Their service was about the fastest I have experienced in my life, every time we ordered something it was there quicker than we expected. The waiter was also very friendly and attentive. We shared a portion of nachos as well as a pizza. Both were tasty, but the nachos portion on its own would not have been enough for me. They are a bit pricey, but we were lucky to arrive there during happy hour (2 drinks for the price of 1) which includes selected house brand drinks such as their Tigers Milk Lager and Part Wolf Pilsner.

In our search for a sports bar to watch the ODI between the Proteas and Sri Lanka we found Tiger’s Milk. Really classy with inside, outside and bar seating. Our waitress was friendly and attentive. We enjoyed our drinks and the food was tasty and well presented. It was a fun afternoon - although our team after started out so well had imploded towards the end. Well worth a visit.

INCREDIBLE service at Tiger's Milk tonight. Our bubbly waitress Zoë made our entire experience enjoyable. Serviced with great recommendations, reminders of all of the wonderful specials, fast orders and regular check-ups, our dining was great from start to finish. We started off with the the Pineapple Express cocktail and then enjoyed a few Crazy Cranbuchas (Zoë's recommendation and my new favourite cocktail!). For a light snack, we ordered Party Parcels (jalapeño poppers pictured) which were incredibly tasty, spicy and crispy. A staple for a night out. For mains, we split a Cheese and Mushroom Burger and F.A.B.ulous Pizza with a side of chips and onion rings. The burger was tasty and melted in your mouth, with such a flavourful sauce. The pizza was thin-based, crispy and full of toppings. The sides were fresh, crisp and deeelicious. We look forward to returning to the Stellenbosch branch and hope to be served by the lovely Zoë again. Thank you for bringing such good energy to a fun night out!

Nicely decorated, real rustic feel. The bathroom design is a bit questionable. I had the halloumi salad (without the halloumi due to intolerance). It was delicious, however, I think the aubergine should be sliced smaller to ensure thorough cooking. Their coffee is velvety, and they do serve almond milk.

The staff were friendly, helpful, and accommodating throughout the evening, always checking in to make sure everyone was comfortable and well taken care of. The service was slightly on the slower side, but considering the size of our group, it was completely understandable. The team still managed everything smoothly and professionally, which we really appreciated. The food was done very well — flavorful, well-prepared, and beautifully presented. The portion sizes were generous, which was a pleasant surprise, and everyone at our table enjoyed their meals. We brought our own wine along, and the corkage fee was R95 per bottle, which we found reasonable given the quality of the venue and overall experience. All in all, Devon Valley Wine Estate Restaurant delivered a wonderful evening. Between the stunning atmosphere, great food, friendly staff, and attention to detail, it’s a place I’d definitely recommend for special occasions or group events. Good job and we can’t wait to be back for our next event or just a simply visit.

A Memorable Stay with a Few Winter Hiccups We recently stayed at Devon Valley Hotel and overall had a wonderful experience. The setting is absolutely beautiful — nestled in the vineyards with stunning views and a peaceful atmosphere that’s perfect for a relaxing getaway. The staff were friendly, welcoming, and always ready to assist, which really made us feel at home. Our room was spacious and well-appointed, with plenty of cozy blankets provided, which was much appreciated during our winter stay. However, we did encounter some issues with the room heating. Unfortunately, the main heating did not work, and although a small oil heater was supplied, it wasn’t quite sufficient to warm up the whole space, especially when moving around. The gas fireplace also didn’t work, which was a pity, as it would have added both warmth and charm to the room. Despite the cold, we enjoyed our stay — the hotel’s ambience, lovely surroundings, and the excellent service more than made up for the discomfort. We’d love to return, especially in warmer months, and we hope the heating issues will be addressed soon to ensure an even more comfortable experience in winter.

we've lunched here several times before. So early March ,my sister and i phoned to get information. a few days later i made a booking, didn't take the name of the person but i knew the time as I've send my family a confirmation message that the booking was made. then a few days before the lunch i wanted just to confirm as i never received a sms to confirm the booking. Firstly i dealt with a lady from accounts that stood in for the reception staff. i stated my case and she continuously said i never made the booking as it was not on the system and they don't work any other way. then she also said i heard incorrectly re the info i got. the more i wanted to explain the more she started talking louder and shouting. NO apology from or that she will follow up. i then asked that the manager phone me back, whereby i had to phone him. stated my complain and he then said he has professional staff.. he was not willing even to ask the staff about the booking that was never done or the incorrect info that was given to us..ALSO no apology , only thing he asked was do you want to make the booking or not..yes i'm upset,, people make mistakes. that's why you learn from it and apologize, but not Devon Valley restaurant manager and staff..They will not apologize to customers, but they will speak down to them. I've been in this industry for a long time myself. to me it was not about the info that was given incorrectly or even the booking that was never taken down, but about the way they speak down on you and not apologizing or even that they will follow up where it went wrong they're side.

The standard rooms are the worst. They are by the entrance of each building-you get disrupted by the noise and movements. I asked to be moved to a quieter room as I have endometriosis and lack of sleep triggers it but they couldn’t assist. The curtains were see through and the night light reflects in the room as shown in the pic.it was difficult to get a good night sleep. On my first night around 1:09am a man tried to enter into my room and he said he was allocated the same room- this was scary and i couldn’t sleep. I wondered what would have happened if i my key wasn’t on the door. I reported at the reception and I was told is typical gust behavior. RESPONSE Unfortunately I couldn't find the reply button to the owner. I wanted to clarify the misinformation in the owner's response-I wasn't informed on booking that the standard room is at the doorway and that it would be loud. I raised a complaint with them about a man trying to open my room and saying he was given the same room at night and I was told its typical guests. With moving I wasnt told about the disount-I was only told that the Reservation manager said he cant move me as the standard rooms are at the entrance and if I want an upgrade I need to pay R500 per night only. I am staying at the accomodation inorder to attend the conference and the noise only stops around midnight which makes it difficult to rest. I even showed the reception my swollen belly which was flaring because of lack of sleep-as I have endometriosis.

Winelands Golf Lodges at Klein Zalze Estate offered exactly what we needed for our trip. Rooms were clean, fully functional for self catering. Location is perfect and security is very good. The Lodge restaurant offered good food and service. Driving through the Wine estate was a really great experience. This place is also a golfers haven.

Great stay! Rooms are modern, clean and spacious. Room isn’t really sound isolated like mentioned as you can hear people on the hallway. It isn’t bothering at the moment but could be if you have loud neighbours . The views are also amazing and staff is very kind. For breakfast you can choose from the buffet AND a la carte. I would recommend it!

Stunning guest house in a perfect location. The building and the grounds are so beautiful and the rooms are stylishly updated and lovely. I had one of the best showers while I was there. Felt like I was in a spa. I was honestly sad that I was only staying one night. I will definitely be staying here next time I'm in Stellenbosch.

The property was absolutely lovely, and I found myself completely enchanted by the garden. It was the kind of space that invites you to slow down and take it all in. Every corner felt thoughtfully cared for, and it added so much charm to the overall experience. From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel genuinely welcome. Their warmth and friendliness created such a positive atmosphere. Breakfast each morning was a delight, both delicious and beautifully presented. It felt like a treat rather than just a meal. The rooms in the main house were beautifully curated, with a clear attention to detail that made the space feel both elegant and comfortable. We were pleasantly surprised to be upgraded to a larger room and even received complimentary breakfast. It was such a thoughtful and unexpected gesture that truly made our stay feel special. The water pressure in the shower was excellent, which is always a bonus. My only small suggestion would be to provide slippers, as the bathroom floor could get a bit chilly. The rooms were well equipped with both air conditioning and heaters, which made it easy to stay comfortable regardless of the weather. We also appreciated the large luggage racks and the convenience of built-in USB ports. If we find ourselves back in beautiful Stellenbosch, we would absolutely choose to stay here again. It was a peaceful, welcoming, and memorable experience from start to finish.

Had a lovely stay here this weekend. Certainly one of the best run boutique hotels I have stayed in. Everything from the check-in to the breakfast was outstanding. If you are every considering a visit to the Cape Winelands, this is a perfect location. Central to everything. Also walking distance to all that Stellenbosch town has to offer but in a quiet neighborhood. I have to mention the staff, they were all super professional and friendly, really makes a difference to one's stay.

Bonne Esperance Boutique Guest House in Stellenbosch is an exceptional place to stay. The team is incredibly friendly and attentive, making every guest feel welcome and cared for. The location is ideal—just a short walk from the town center, the university, and the beautiful botanical gardens. The guest house itself is a beautifully restored Victorian villa, over 100 years old, featuring charming architectural details like a wrap-around veranda and lace-like cast-iron trims. Built in 1907 by self-taught architect Jacobus Tribelhorn, the house has a rich history, having served as a family home, a student residence, and now a boutique guest house. We were lucky enough to enjoy the world’s best coffee, freshly brewed by Arnel, their talented barista. And even if he happens to be off-duty, we’re sure the rest of the team will craft a cup just as perfectly. Staying here offers a unique blend of historical charm and modern comfort. If you’re visiting Stellenbosch, Bonne Esperance is a place you should definitely experience.

Beautiful little guest house in excellent location (just 5 mins walk from town). Breakfast is very good, with a broad selection of hot and cold options and generous portions. Staff all lovely and very helpful. Only piece of feedback is the bed was very very firm. Asked for a mattress topper to ameliorate but unfortunately they didn’t have one. Luckily we were still able to get a good sleep after drinking copious amounts of wine during the day, but a more cushy bed would have been lovely.

We had a lovely stay at the hotel. The lady at reception was incredibly friendly and welcoming. She even allowed us to check in early in the morning, which was a huge help since my husband had a biking trip planned for that day. Our room was spacious and well-equipped with everything we needed for a comfortable stay. I also visited the spa for a manicure, pedicure, and massage, and I was very pleased with the experience. The staff member was both professional and warm, and I truly enjoyed my time there. Breakfast was delicious, with a nice variety of options to choose from. I had a really unpleasant experience at the hotel today. I am totally dissatisfied with how the manager, named Johnathan have treated me, whilst I were there to pick up a client for an airport drop-off. For the manager to be rude and while your client was standing right there on the front stoep is unprofessional and reflects poorly on the hotel. This kind of behavior can make anyone feel disrespected and frustrated. Thanks to William who interfered and conduct himself in a professional manner.

I stayed here last minute after my flight was cancelled. While I arrived late in the evening, the staff on duty were incredibly welcoming and kind, especially appreciated after a hectic travel day. They made sure I was able to get settled in. The room was absolutely wonderful, with a spacious bathroom, room, and balcony, and the bed was incredibly comfortable. Small touches like the kettle being pre-filled were greatly appreciated. While I’m happy my flight was rescheduled, I wish I had more time to enjoy staying here, not just because of the room and location but also because of the welcoming and kind staff.

Check-in: The process took almost 30 minutes. No help with the suitcases. Room condition: Great new, large bathroom. Furniture very old Cleanliness: We were surprised at the black soles of our feet in the evening. The cause was the ground. See photos. It was repaired, but not properly even after that. The cupboards had sticky handles, the switch on the bedside lamp was disgusting. The sofa was dingy, there were crumbs under the seat cushions, there was an old plaster and the fabric was stained. The white bed linen had one or two stains. The folder with the information about the hotel was stuck with chewing gum. Flaky coating on the wall, probably saltpeter. After reporting the facts, the wall should be during our stay! be repaired. A change of room followed. Here too, sticky furniture doors, toothpaste residue from the previous guest in the sink. Bathroom modern, spacious. The lighting only hung on a cable from the ceiling Restaurant: buffet rich. Service patchy. The question about egg dishes usually came AFTER our breakfast. Quality of food not recommended.

Decent Hotel near Stellenbosch and friendly staff. The room was spacious and had a good price-to-value. However, I didn’t like the carpet as it showed a few dirty spots. The restaurant is alright but you have to order the food in advance since it‘s quite small. The Spa was disappointing and the staff was (in contrast to the other staff from the hotel) unmotivated and unfriendly. The Hotel’s area is okay but you might have to wait a few minutes for an Uber / Bolt.

Photos on booking don’t do you guys justice. Service was a bit rushed since we arrived late. Bed was super comfy but bedside lights are so bright the ceiling led lights were less abrasive. Big Bathtub was a lovely thing to take advantage of, breakfast was yummy and the garden is phenomenal. The views are something else.

Lovely location and kind staff. We found them to be very accommodating and friendly. We were even given a wonderful room upgrade as a surprise. The only downside is that the prices for food and drink are far higher than one would expect (tourist inflation included). A plain old gin and tonic being R240 for example, or 2 small bottles of still water R50.

We stayed at this hotel between 15/11 and 17/11 (room 13). The room was large and comfortable. However, lots of flies and mosquitos. The hotel itself is nice and offers excellent service. Kudos to the staff and manager. The breakfast is sufficient, and dinner quite good, although birds kept flying in to steal bread. The massages are great. The location is ideal as it is situated at the heart of all the wine estates. Special mention for the following: we were on our honeymoon, and we received a bottle and warm welcome! We will visit again.

Fool's Gold Social Bar is not just a typical hangout spot, it's a hidden gem for an unforgettable dining experience. The bar offers an exceptional Asian fusion menu with generous portions that have become local favorites. The udon noodle soup is a must-try and pairs perfectly with their refreshing cider. Despite the crowd, the atmosphere remains great and the drinks are reasonably priced. Additionally, the diverse music selection adds to the overall enjoyable experience at this unique social bar.
A truly wonderful hidden gem in Stellenbosch. The vibes, the food, the music, the service - everything is truly amazing. The decor is beautiful and the music on a Sunday makes for a truly vibey experience. We had the birria tacos and lamb flat bread and it was all super tasty. Will definitely be back to try the other food options. I highly recommend the Mexican club sipper cocktail which was absolutely to die for! Thanks to Kirsty for the lovely service.

Located above the De Akker pub and restaurant, Fool's Gold Social Bar is a bit of a hidden gem. With its unassuming entrance, it can be easy to miss. During the day, it has a more relaxed atmosphere with a classic cocktail bar vibe. However, I visited on a Saturday night when Fool's Gold transformed into a bustling nightclub. It was packed with people and had an electric atmosphere. It was clear to see that this is a popular spot on the Stellenbosch party scene. As an added bonus, all the staff I interacted with were friendly and efficient. If you're looking for a great nightclub in Stellenbosch, Fool's Gold Social Bar is definitely worth a visit. I will definitely be returning during the day to try some of their cocktails and experience them for myself.
Dewald R — Google review
My experience at Fools Gold left a sour taste. I came with my friend group and the only black friend in our group was treated like a suspect the moment we arrived. The bouncer questioned him like he was trying to sneak in — double-checking ID, demanding to know if he was “with us,” and staring him down like he didn’t belong there. We thought maybe it was a one-off — until we saw how he was treated the rest of the night. Cold service, side-eyes, and not a single apology or acknowledgment when he said something. Instead, a staff member told him, "Maybe you’re just reading too much into things." That comment sealed it. Classic gaslighting, making someone feel like they’re imagining a real issue. I don’t care how trendy or popular this place is — if they can’t treat all guests with respect from the door to the bar, they’re not worth your time. Blatant racism.
Nome R — Google review
I genuinely had one of the best burgers ever at Fools Gold recently. Their smash burger is packed with flavour, it’s a proper smash burger with two Pattie’s, juicy and perfect thickness as well as seasoned to perfection. I’ve had a lot of burgers in and around Cape Town and this one definitely takes the cake. The brioche bun was fresh and the sauce that comes for the chips was also insane. Like damn shout-out Fools Gold they cooked with this burger. I also had the loaded fries on another day - the chipotle crema and added Pulled Beef and which came at an extra cost- but sooo well priced and really generous portion. This is my new favourite restaurant in Stellenbosch. The ingredients are so fresh. Not an overly complicated menu which I really like too. Always a vibe, immaculate service with really friendly staff. Music is always on point. Lots of specials during the week are also such a plus- their cocktails are spectacular too. Shout out guys
Kitty O — Google review
I am utterly disgusted and disappointed with Fools Gold. They are unprofessional, racist, and treat people with zero respect. We were three coloured people just trying to enjoy our night. We arrived at 21:15, and after about an hour my fiancé went outside for a smoke with a white friend. When they returned, the staff demanded that only my fiancé pay an entry fee—even though he was already inside. The manager even came onto the dance floor to pull him away while we were dancing, just to force him to pay. I asked why the white friend wasn’t also asked to pay, since both of them had stepped out. The answer was clear: unfair treatment. To make matters worse, all the black staff were working outside, while only white staff were behind the bar. This says everything about the kind of place Fools Gold is. No one at Fools Gold took responsibility or even tried to fix the situation. Instead of enjoying our night, we left feeling humiliated and unwelcome. We ended up at Punked, and the difference was like night and day—the vibe was great, and the staff treated everyone with respect. Fools Gold will never see my face again. The name says it all: Fool’s Gold—fake, cheap, and not worth it. I strongly recommend that people avoid this place and rather support venues that actually value their customers.
Zena L — Google review
Nothing like being told ‘all flatbreads are 50% off’ by the waitress and have it on your instagram, only to find out that apparently ‘all’ doesn’t actually mean all. Even after she spoke to the manager, he refused to do anything. Misleading, disappointing, and a sure way to lose customers. If you enjoy paying full price for something you were promised at half price, this is the place for you. As an establishment that is clearly doing well you’d expect them to keep their customers happy and just give the discount?
Amelia W — Google review

We had the pleasure of spending two unforgettable nights at Lovane Boutique Wine Estate. Casper gave us a very warm welcome upon arrival and offered to carry our bags up to our room. We stayed in the Bordeaux suite which was utterly immaculate. The room was spotless and aesthetically awe inspiring, containing everything a guest could hope for, including a hairdryer, aircon, tv with dstv and streaming platforms, bar fridge, spa gowns and slippers and luxurious shampoos, conditioners and hand soaps. No detail was overlooked. The room is fitted with beautiful chandeliers and light fixtures, the most comfortable chairs and a spacious bed, linen fit for royalty and the most exquisite and rejuvenating free standing bath as well as a double shower of the finest calibre. We were also generously gifted a delicious bottle of Lovane red wine and a custom note to accompany it. The breakfasts were comprised of food of the best quality products, great coffee and tea, and the most delicious dishes freshly crafted by the friendly chefs in the kitchen. Lovane is a mere 8 minute drive from the centre of Stellenbosch and close to many of the towns magnificent wine farms. Thank you Lovane for making our weekend so special.

I stayed in the bridal suite the night before of my wedding (5-6 May). The room and bathroom were very nice and spacious. The view from the room was gorgeous and serene. Lovane thought to put a bottle of their wine in the room with the date and congratulations written on it which was a nice surprise. The staff were very helpful and friendly, and also remembered to congratulate us. The included breakfast was great. My only complaint is that the bed wasn't very comfortable, but overall a great stay. Thank you.

Excellent location. Room small but tastefully decorated. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. However, room needs TLC and attention to detail. Shower had mildew and bathroom could be cleaned better. Bedding was threadbare and had holes in some places. Bedside lamps were plastic and still had visible Mr Price Home price stickers visible. Only four hangers available - two of which had the gowns on. Breakfast is included but served in the sushi restaurant downstairs, so we rather found a restaurant nearby. Definitely not 5 stars as advertised! Probably 3 star standard.

We stayed over for one night. The reception was great, staff are friendly. The hotel is very small, and as such the rooms are small. I was taken aback in the morning when I wanted to leave, to fined another guest was allowed to park in the driveway, which blocked the exit. This is definitely not okay, had there been an emergency this would have been a major issue.
Mark D — Google review
Spent a night there on a work trip and was really impressed. The room was clean and tidy. The location is good, especially to do some walking to restaurants and coffee places. The hosts were so hospitable which just made the visit even more worthwhile. Will definitely be staying there again.

We recently stayed there with my wife and 9 year old son for 1 nights because I went for a knee surgery in Stellenbosch. I felt very contacted kesving my wife and boy there in their capable friendly hands. Abby and the manager, amongst others went out of their way to cater to all our needs. The owner of the hotel himself was extremely friendly with us and interacted with us. Our room had everything we had. The only thing that would of made this a even better stay if there restaurant had been open for lunch and supper too. We were not aware of this prior to booking. Besides this minor detail, defiantly would recommend staying there again. Thank you to you all

First stop on our honeymoon trip, checked in late after our wedding and the guy who welcomed us and assisted us with a parking space & our luggage was really nice and friendly. Room was perfect - clean and tidy with everything we needed. Heated towel rails were an appreciated bonus. Lovely breakfast. Amazing rooftop area is an unexpected surprise. Lots of space to relax, very serene. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

A small hotel with a difference. Not only can you eat at their restaurant or go out to eat at numerous restaurants within walking distance but you even have a communal kitchen on each floor for self catering purposes. Very clean and modern room. Friendly staff to welcome you. Ended off with a lovely breakfast. Location is great.

The art deco design and elegant functionality make it renowned for its sleek style. Guests have praised the warm hospitality, well-kept accommodations with beautiful decor, and personalized service provided by Margie, the owner.
I stayed here for the second time and I can only recommend this place. Marguerite and her team are absolutely amazing. The rooms are spacious, the lounge area very homey. And when the airline dropped my lost luggage there and I was already gone, Marguerite even drove my stuff to cape town so I would have it on time. What a great service. When ln Stellenbosch - this is your place. It is also super central and you can easily reach the city center walking.

We had a wonderful stay. Centrally located, safe walking distance to shops and restaurants. Safe and secure parking. Rooms are private and beautifully decorated. Highly recommend.

It was like a private house with the freedom to do as we please, communal breakfast table , vey social , beautiful interior design. Well appointed bedroom. 5mn walk into town. we were well looked after by the lovely staff. We also loved the tiny pool in the evenings with the mini bar attached to it. Thank you for having us ! Margie is the best host you could ask for. Like having your mother take care of you during your stay. Breakfasts were high quality and as per requests, delicious! The rooms are equipped with everything that you would need, and load shedding isn't an issue either. This place should be a 5 star rated accommodation.

The energy and warmth I experienced here is literally out of this world. The house is well kept, with the most beautiful and welcoming decor. The personal touch by Margie (the owner) blew my mind. Her signature muffins and rusks are made from scratch, healthy and tasty! Very organized and supportive service from start to finish! This is a place I would return to over and over again! Thank you Margie, for you kindness and warmth. Your iconic yellow dining table is forever imprinted on my mind♥️ Thank you for a wholesome experience!✨

I stayed at this house for almost 9 months over a work trip in 2010! Love the place, the hosts and the lovely service provided. Just looking at these pictures brought back so many good memories. Would highly recommend this place and be back here any time I visit South Africa / Stellenbosch / Cape Town area! Located very close to the university, in the heart of the city, close proximity to shops, restaurants, and some lovely vineyards in the area. Very neat and clean and the best home experience one can ever have. :) baie lekker!! Cheers, Archana!

I had a very nice stay over two months! Best house, very nice people and good atmosphere for holiday but also for working / studying. The owner is very welcoming and made my stay very special. I would come back any time, Total recommendation. Also the city itself is very nice and the accommodation is in a very good location to explore the city without a car.

An incredible place and experience all round. Magriet and her staff are absolutely amazing, the rooms are to die for and the common area is gorgeous. The complimentary tea, coffee and treats is a plus. Centrally located and a walk away from the university.

I arrived very late( around 22h30) with my team but we were welcomed by the security. The kitchen lady opened the dining area for us to have our dinner. The food was well prepared and very tasty 😋 My room was clean and well packed. At the reception everyone welcomed us with a warm smile in the morning. Breakfast was enjoyable. We had an enjoyable 3 nights stay.

To Whom It May Concern, I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to express my concerns regarding my recent experience with your institution, which I have frequented and respected for the past four years. Unfortunately, this recent encounter has prompted me to reconsider my patronage. The introduction of the new manager has been particularly troubling. During my recent visit, I encountered several issues that were not only unpleasant but also uncharacteristic of the high standards I have come to expect. For the first time, I felt mistreated and threatened with blacklisting on all booking sites, which is unacceptable. The manager's insistence on being the sole authority and his refusal to understand my concerns were highly frustrating. His approach to customer communication lacks empathy and has made the environment uncomfortable and intimidating for both customers and staff. This behavior is detrimental to the institution's reputation and overall customer experience. As a guest, my primary expectation is to relax and enjoy a stress-free stay. However, the current management's attitude makes it difficult to ask questions or seek assistance without feeling intimidated. This hostile atmosphere is counterproductive and undermines the very purpose of choosing such accommodations. I understand that managing an institution involves challenges, but it is crucial to treat each customer with respect and address their concerns individually. The new manager's approach of using past mistakes with other clients to agitate and threaten me is unacceptable and unprofessional. I believe it is essential for the management to recognize and rectify these behaviors to maintain a positive customer relationship. I have always valued the establishment for its quality service and have recommended it to many. However, the current situation has made it difficult for me to continue my patronage. It is in the best interest of the institution to ensure that customers feel welcomed and respected. The management's actions should reflect positively on the company's reputation and not cause harm or distress to its patrons. I hope that my concerns will be taken seriously and addressed promptly. The establishment plays a vital role in the community and contributes to job creation and infrastructure development. It is imperative that the management fosters good relationships with customers and staff to ensure continued success. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

I’m afraid this was not a great experience. For the price I did not expect revamped student accommodation, and the added cost of parking was a surprise. Far from a 3 star hotel experience. The pictures are quite misleading. The unit we had was also very dirty. On the surface it looked clean but the couch has stains which we had to cover with a blanket. A lot of maintenance has not been kept up with shelves and blinds basically falling off. Walking on socks or barefoot or was not an option the floors were too dirty. I’d not recommend.

WINK Aparthotel Quiver Tree is the perfect combination of modern comfort and convenience! The apartments are spacious, stylishly decorated, and equipped with everything you need for a comfortable stay. The location is ideal, close to local attractions and amenities, yet quiet enough for a peaceful retreat. The staff are friendly, professional, and always willing to assist with a smile. I particularly appreciated the well-equipped kitchen and the secure parking, which made my stay hassle-free. Whether you're visiting for business or leisure, this is an excellent choice. Highly recommended for anyone looking for quality accommodation in Stellenbosch!

This is typical student housing, with some of the units upgraded to provide for short term stays. It is quite adequate for tourists as we literally just needed a place to sleep. The breakfast offering was normal bit nothing out of this world. Some more pastries would have been nice. Also the food in the buffet got cold quite quickly. The only thing I missed in the rooms was a hairdryer, that would have been really nice. The safe parking waa a huge bonus.

We've been to Quiver Tree multiple times over the last year. The perfect overnight spot for a night out on the town in Stellenbosch. No major issues besides some WIFI troubles here and there but, generally gets sorted out quickly. The rooms have everything you need within the price range you pay, so well done on that. I can also see subtle upgrades over the last year which is appreciated. Especially the Smart TV's Staff is friendly and assist as much as possible and where they can. Special shout out to Jubelian who has such a good sense of communication, making us almost feel like family when we pop in for a overnight. Take good care of him! Thanks Jubelian, keep up the good work! Cheers till next time!

The staff are friendly and the units are lovely and secure. However, the real estate agency that is in charge of the lease agreements, Century 21, treated me badly and unfairly. When staying at this accommodation I recommend booking directly through Wink Quiver Tree and not Century 21.

The rooms are spacious and I enjoyed the fact that I could watch dstv stream and netflix without having to log in with my own accounts. I hope it wasn't because someone else did not log out when they left.

Nestled in Stellenbosch, Winelands Golf Lodges offer a serene retreat with easy access to Technopark Stellenbosch and De Zalze Golf Club. The property boasts a garden with barbecue facilities and an on-site restaurant, Kleine Zalze. Guests can enjoy complimentary Wi-Fi and free self-parking during their stay. The lodges provide well-equipped, cozy accommodations with modern amenities.
We stayed at Lodge 29 which was perfectly situated on a quiet side of the Lodge. The unit was well equipped for our needs, very cosy and comfortable. The AC was working well at heating the unit during the cooler weather experienced. We were able to walk around the estate where we visited the wine farm restaurant’s and wine tasting. There is also a health spa and Golf course. Next year we will learn to play Golf at the Golf academy on site. I can highly recommend these Lodges a rare Gem and perfect location from Stellenbosch town.
Grant L — Google review
We recently spent a full week at Lodge 29, and we couldn’t be happier with our stay. From the moment we arrived, we felt welcomed and completely at ease — it truly felt like a home away from home. The lodge was cozy, spotless, and beautifully maintained, with everything we needed to relax and enjoy our time. The kitchen was fully equipped, the beds were incredibly comfortable, and the small touches throughout the space made it feel personal and cared for. Whether we were enjoying peaceful mornings with a cup of coffee or winding down after a day of exploring, Lodge 29 was the perfect base. It offered a great balance of comfort, privacy, and convenience. The surrounding area was quiet and scenic, yet close enough to local attractions, shops, and restaurants. We left feeling refreshed and already talking about when we can return. We wholeheartedly recommend Lodge 29 to anyone looking for a peaceful, comfortable, and memorable getaway. Five stars all around!

The accommodation is located inside De Zala compound. Guests to Winelands Golf Lodges should take care from the De Zala Residences because some of them are *inappropriate* or *no respect* to guests or tourists.

If you're a person of colour... Good luck. If there was a rating for racism these guys would get 5 stars. Just a few things we noticed. The staff gives service based on the colour of your skin and their mood that day. Dress code is race based (a black woman in a jumpsuit has to cover up at the clubhouse restaurant, but a white woman can sunbathe naked by the pool) Getting information for activities is like pulling teeth. Margaritas suck. Wine tasting rocked (S/O to Jaden @Klein de Zalze) Views are great.

If you like golf this is a place to visit. Staff are very much friendly and place are well looked after. Nice modern and cozy rooms available with ample nature influence around you. Security very strict but still friendly. Definitely a place to visit.

During winter times, do NOT book this! You will be freezing cold in the house, in the dark mostly because there is not a lot of power during the days. And don’t expect a warm shower either. You’d better go to a camp site: much cheaper and even more comfy
TJ S — Google review
We observed alarming health and safety hazards within the property. The absence of balustrades on the front of the house, poses a severe risk. Regrettably, one of the children staying with us slipped on the bathroom tiles due to the lack of anti-slip measures, resulting in a severe injury with a broken leg in two places. The situation was further exacerbated by the difficulty emergency services faced in accessing the property due to the front entrance and staircase conditions. Cleanliness, or the lack thereof, also became a major concern. Mould was visibly present throughout the house, creating an unhealthy environment. Additionally, we were taken aback to discover that there was no cleaning service on Saturdays, and when we sought assistance from the manager on duty, we were met with indifference. Guests were left without essentials such as towels and toilet paper, indicating a lack of oversight on cleaning services.

My wife and I spent a couple of nights here for our honeymoon and it was fantastic! The apartment we stayed in was clean and spacious, newly renovated. The lodge pool was just outside of our apartment, open area with beautiful surroundings and very quiet! We had a relaxing time just enjoyed each others company in the peace and quiet. The clubhouse is within walking distance and had amazing food. My wife had the open english muffin for breakfast, while I had the salmon bruschetta, both were perfectly made and more than enough to fill you up. The golf estate is also a beautiful place to walk around and enjoy the scenery, one does not have to play golf to enjoy the estate. The only negative things I would say about where we stayed specifically, is the parking is not close to the apartment, if you have several bags to carry then it may be quite a bit of walking. The other is that our double bed was just two single beds put together, this wasn't a major concern for us but some people might find that disappointing for highly reviewed place.

Mont Angelis, a former farm turned into beautifully renovated guest cottages, offers a peaceful escape from the city center while still being conveniently located for those seeking action. The spacious and well-designed cottages provide self-catering accommodation on a picturesque wine farm. Despite being slightly outside the town, it's ideal for families wanting to cook for themselves. The retreat boasts lovely interiors and fully equipped units perfect for relaxation.
From the moment we turned left onto the road leading to this little peace of heaven on earth, my heart immediately felt at peace. The further that we drove, the more beautiful the terrain, until we found Mont Angelis. The Host Lee-Anne is wonderful and made us feel at home, even before we had arrived. The home is beautifully furnished and the location is beyond breathtaking. With a short drive or even a short walk to a few beautiful wine estates just down the road, you would be forgiven if you felt like you would never want to leave. As I type, I am already contemplating our next visit. Thank you to Lee-Anne and her team for a truly memorable start to the new year. Jarrod

My Mum and I stayed at Mont Angelis for a few days and it was such a wonderful and relaxing little getaway. I did not want to leave and will definitely go back. The house (we were in number 10) was perfect for us. Its spacious and modern and so well equipped. The views are breathtaking. It is a place that you have to go to when you need a recharge. Its quiet, especially our unit was at the end and so we barely saw anyone. I didn't get to explore as much as I would have liked to as it was somewhat a working trip but I plan to do so at my next visit. Most importantly though, the hosts : LeeAnne, Adam and Mathew are phenomenal. We arrived really late (almost midnight) yet LeeAnne accommodated this with no fuss. Matt and Adam welcomed us at that late hour and even chatted with us. They are all so kind and thoughtful and they make you feel really at home. LeeAnne assisted with a further request at the end of our stay, honestly nothing was too much trouble for them. She even offered to fill my fridge with essentials before I came as she knew my flight was so late, luckily this wasn't necessary, but the fact that she offered is really top notch service, and just sheer kindness. Im so glad I've found this gem and have met the incredible team. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you Kind regards Yasmin

Mont Angelis is such a lovely place! The views are stunning, the cottages modern, cozy and well equipped with everything you need. The perfect place if you want to rewind from the daily struggles. Another plus: it’s only a 15min walk to the Waterford vineyard 🙏

Apartment was reasonably well apointed but we were disappointed to not be given the apartment we booked on the website, with no explanation given for the switch - by the time we realised we had unpacked all our bags and belongings and it was too late in the night to distrub the manager. I booked an apartment which had a separate closed off bathroom but the one we were given was open plan, meaning you couldn't take a poo without everyone hearing and smelling you. There are no communal toilets on site either, so if you're self concious about using the bathroom you've essentially got to ask your travel partners to wait on the balcony. The swimming pool is small and shallow and was covered in leaves/dirt. When we arrived our balcony was covered in flower petals which hasn't been swept up for days. The hot tap on the kitchen sink is plumbed up incorrectly, so I ended up burning my hand under what I thought was cold water. We received a friendly welcome from the manager but otherwise we saw no one else during our stay. Nice location but would find somewhere closer to Stellenbosch next time.
