Jia Jia Tang Bao is another highly recommended spot especially popular among Thai tourists. It’s often listed as a “must-try,” so I went in with pretty high expectations. Unfortunately, it didn’t quite live up to the hype. The food was okay not bad by any means but very average overall. The long queue made me expect something truly special, but what I got was just... fine. If there’s no line, it might be worth a quick visit. But if you're facing a long wait, I’d say it’s not really worth the time. There are plenty of other dumpling places in Shanghai that are just as good or better without the crowd.

An absolute must try when you come to Shanghai! Loved their juicy xialongbao and delicious crab noodles. Very easy to order via Alipay (contactless system). Beware that queues can get very long but it is so worth it!

Jia Jia Tang Bao (佳家汤包) is a famed xiao long bao 小龍包restaurant in Shanghai that started as a mom-and-pop shop in 1986. Today, they have nearly a dozen locations in Shanghai. The tourist location is on Huanghe Road, and the busiest. I recommend going to their Liyuan Road store for the same quality made-to-order xiao long bao. They do excellent pork soup dumplings, as well as ones with crab and crab roe.

The food here is incredible! The crab noodles are absolutely to die for. The dumplings are also delicious, and the complimentary soup was wonderfully comforting. Just a heads-up—you’ll need to scan and pay at the table. Also, none of the staff speak English, so be sure to use translation tools—WeChat for ordering and Google Translate when speaking with the staff.

Go to breakfast/lunch place. Amazing noodles and xiao long baos. It is quite busy there so prepare to wait in a small queue. They have great deals with the app Dianping, but you do require a chinese phone number for it. If you have one make sure to install it.

This place has ok dim sums, but nothing super delicious or outstanding. We tried few types of pork ones, also pork + crab and pork + shrimp. I was choosing this place by photos, but quite few of food photos here are actually coming from another place few houses away. So this guys don’t have many food options apart from dim sums. Lovely place. Service is a bit slow and not especially friendly. Even though this is a western restaurant, the staff doesn’t really speak English. Ingredients are fresh, drinks are good, and the outside sitting area is right in front of the park. Inside, decoration is minimal, though. Prices are on the higher side for a simple snack but still reasonable for a western restaurant in this area. Overall recommended, but not as good as The Refinery, less than 1km away.

We received poor service and were poorly treated. The staff were impatient and rude! The beer was served warm. The environment was unpleasant because we were seated in a corner near a bathroom that smelled bad, and we were never attended to! A nice location close to many shops, restaurants, and plazas. Some beers are excellent, some are ordinary, and the spicy Korean chicken I had was underwhelming due to its saltiness, but the space was vast and well-decorated.

I love this place! Found it as I was walking around the area and I’m glad I did. Great attentive service and delicious food. I had a bacon burger w/ fries, washed it all down with at least 3 different IPA’s which were all good. When I’m in Shanghai, I’m coming back! Tip: If you’re dining in, I suggest going upstairs to the second floor as it has a more relaxed, warm atmosphere. First floor is more of a bar.

Reliable place to watch Australian Sport in Shanghai. You can watch AFL and Rugby League at the same time, which is good. Plenty of Western Food options as well like burgers and Chicken Parmie. Western prices for beer too. RMB50 for a Paulaner or Jing A.

A popular sports bar with reasonably priced drinks and decent atmosphere with mixture of expats and locals. Busy during big sports events, but plenty of seating and standing space with TV screens throughout.

They serve beer. I highly recommend the lasagna and the side pasta salad. Unfortunately not enough NHL and NFL but far too much cricket which is not very good. Fridays are also good but go in to prearrange real sports. Word to the wise, there be lots of australian. Unfortunately you won't be served a chinese meal, a succulent chinese meal there.

Great sports bar. Pool table, dart boards, so manyTVs with live sport (Rugby Union/ Aussie Rules / tennis while I was there). The big game on the day (All Blacks | SA) was live and loud. Several different areas to hang out.

This place has moved to Kangding Road just around the corner from The Shed, whose address is 698 Shaanxi Road North. There’s 18 taps serving a number of Tap House’s own beers and beers from other brewers including Rogue. We didn’t stay long and just had a tasting paddle as we were heading home that day.
