We arrived at this place around 11:40am and it was already quite crowded, with a short queue. The staff took our order and payment first before seating us, which helped streamline the process.
Most customers seem to go for the combo set, which includes the restaurant's signature items like crispy pork skin, fried pork belly, and pork liver. However, the portions for each are quite small—just one piece of pork skin, two pieces of pork belly, and one piece of liver, which felt a bit limited.
The sauces were a nice addition. The red chili was mild, while the green chili packed more heat and had a great flavour. The fried long bean with pork was a standout dish for me—flavourful and well-cooked—but some of my friends found it too spicy.
I wasn’t a fan of the fresh coconut water, as they only serve young coconuts here. It lacked the strong coconut flavour I prefer, and tasted slightly sour and unusual to me.
Overall, I can see why this restaurant is popular—the food quality is good, though it didn’t quite blow me away. It’s definitely worth a visit, but it helps to go in with the right expectations.
For authentic Bali food! This is a must try! But try at your own risk! They have flies flying around their displayed food! But none of my friends or myself had any issue.

Finally, I tried this famous Babi Guling Pak Malen. As seven stars Google Reviewer I have visited many Babi Guling Restaurant, and I can confirm the taste was good. Ambience deserve 5 stars, i love the sleek modern and clean design, really elevate the Babi Guling Restaurant level into next level - All Babi Guling resto shall follow this to level up this traditional Balinese cuisine. Room for improvement on service (queue) and order-payment management, to be honest I am not a type of queueing for one plate of meal, so may consider add more cashier.

But their staff not really welcome, we was asked for help to save the yakult first at the fridge coz we want to take it later after food, but their not even willing to help us but not really matters.

Is quite poplar among the local and foreigner too. I order their signature dishes. Test good, just the portion is a biz small.

Can see there was a long queue outside the shop, the staff will serves what you want first in order to make the order faster, need to make payments first before going inside to find a seat.
Can see they received many recognized certificates here on the wall..
People here usually will leave after finish dishes...not a place for you to stay long here for chitchat..
One of the most well-known babi guling place located on Sunset Road. For a popular tourist destination, I still consider their price to be friendly. However, although the taste of their food was great, it isn’t really something to write home about, so I wouldn’t go out if my way to eat it if I’m staying far away.
I can say this is the best babi guling in Bali. the crispy pork is so tasty full of spices and full of flavours. I ordered spesial pisah which comes with more pork meats and separate rice and soup. it's fast serving even though the restaurant is so busy. no need to wait long if you are hungry. price is reasonable and actually much cheaper than the other overhyped babi guling. do yourself a favour and eat babi guling here. no need to look for other places

Rumah Makan Babi Guling Karya Rebo is a popular spot near Ngurah Rai Airport, perfect for savoring Bali's flavors before departing. The crispy fried pork and delectable satay are must-tries. Delicious, generous serving of pork in the babi guling nasi campur. There are air conditioned tables on the second floor and souvenir snacks on the first floor. Perfect for a rest stop before heading to the airport!
I came here every time I visit bali, but this time the service was disgustingly bad, waited for 25 mins when all their ingredients are ready to serve. Other guests who came after us got their food delivered in 2 mins after seated. No apologies, no smile, no sorry , just rudeness on their waitresses face, they even deliver other people's food while we have to wait for ours after complaining. Store isn't even packed for something this silly to happen. It's a shame considering this has been my go to place for babi guling in Bali. But it doesnt matter how good your food if your service sucks. Will never come back. -1/10
Probably my favorite babi guling in Bali. Everything on the dish is excellent (except maybe the sate). Sambal is also all you can eat (it's very spicy). They opened a new location just 10m from the original branch and it's nicer because have ac on the second floor. Must visit for babi guling seekers in Bali

Super interesting to try this dish. I almost didn’t order the soup cause it was already so hot but would recommend you to order it in the set meal. Taste of the soup was great! The sausage was very spicy, the pig skin was nice and crispy. I also enjoyed the fried meat, the grilled one was ok.
It just got way to hot after I finished drinking the soup. A few more ventilators would definitely help. Staring into the forest to eat was a nice touch though!

One of the well-known babi guling spots in the Ubud area. The place is slightly hidden inside (need to walk past the narrow aisle), but it’s quite spacious with a nice greenery view.
In terms of taste, it didn’t quite hit the mark for me. The spices weren’t as strong and flavorful for my liking. The fried pork were a bit tough (alot), but the meat is tender and plenty. The highlight was definitely the crispy pork skin - BEST I've eaten. If you come too late, the lawar might be sold out and they will replace it with sayur labu. Oh and the soup is similar with sop sayur with carrots and green beans.
The price is quite steep (tax included), and fyi they only accept cash payments.
It’s more the full experience and jungle neighborhood for me. Food very good but I miss the earlier days when there was a bit more grit and green banana leaves gave it that extra feel and taste…highly recommend for tourist experience. Loved the papaya juice! But be so careful with the seriously hot and good sambal!
It was really nice food and it’s my first time to enjoy our barbecue cooling that was like pulled pork it’s very soft and very tasty.

The location is perfect for tourists who's visiting ubud. Which is near to the ubud palace and ubud art Market.vehicles will not reach to the property so you have to walk nearly 250 m. But it is good. The property ambiance is perfect for tourists. One side of the restaurant is facing toward the nature that's great and other side is with a fish pond and birds wich gives a cool atmosphere. We ate food after 3pm so the food was not hot at all. Better the want to heat the dish especially the pork meat, so overall food experience was not so great.
Very good Babi Guling. This outlet number 3 is my favorite. It’s a little hard to find but is actually the home of Ibu Oka. Nestled in a very green area.

The food is tasty. The parking area is spacious. The servants are helpful. There is only one main dish here, rice with mixed topping that consist of roasted pork, spicy pork (mild spicy for my tongue), and mixed vegetables. If you ask for the non spicy rice, you'll get rice with roasted pork only. So, just like the title, the protein option is only pork.
If you are hungry, you can ask for the separate rice and toppings. You also can get the mixed one for a cheaper price.
I would come to the restaurant again if I went to the area nearby the restaurant.

Babi Guling Gung Cung is a small, unassuming restaurant located in the heart of Ubud town, just a short distance from Babi Guling Bu Oka. The eatery offers traditional suckling pork dishes at more affordable prices without compromising on taste. The succulent lean meat is complemented by a rich spice paste and served with chayote and crispy pork gorengan.
Ordered around 10:45am right after they opened and there was a short queue already. Had to be early so that the pork skin (kulit) is guaranteed to be crispy.
Taste was really good compared to other Babi Guling I tried in Ubud and Nusa Dua. Ambience was very local and good thing I came early as I was able to get a table with a neighbourhood view 💯
Tip: I was the only tourist around that time and mostly were local customers, which was a good sign

Delicious suckling pig babi guling. So well presented. Comes with crackling and rice and soup. Enjoy the rooftop seating and watch Ubud go by outside. This is a more authentic experience but delicious. The condiment is hot. HOT.
We’d been wanting to try Babi Guling while in Ubud and found this place via Google reviews. If we walked past here on our own it’s not somewhere we would try but I am so so glad we did! They only have 3 menu options and you can sit up on the rooftop and watch the world go by. I’d highly recommend this place if you want to try Babi Guling!! It's absolutely tiny and may make you think a few times before entering but the Babi Guling is absolutely amazing. I got the medium portion and good lord, I wish I had gone there more times on my trip. Absolutely delicious and I can still feel the flavour on my tongue when I think of it! Highly recommend it :) it's super local and super delicious! The broth is also divine. I recommend the medium portion because you get both versions of it!

Babi Guling Gung Cung is a traditional-style warung serving roast hog. While I appreciated the use of banana leaves instead of plates, which added an authentic touch, the experience was a bit underwhelming compared to another nearby babi guling place I had fond memories of, set in a traditional house.
We arrived early enough to enjoy a small slice of good, crispy skin—delicious, but unfortunately, extra portions weren’t available to order. While the food was tasty, it wasn’t particularly spectacular.
The main drawback was the hygiene. The toilet was not very clean, and there was no handwashing liquid available, which is a significant miss in terms of overall experience. Improving hygiene practices would make the visit much more enjoyable.
Overall, it’s a decent spot, but there’s room for improvement, especially in cleanliness and customer experience.

Pretty good mixed rice with pork. Pork is tasty and the satay is the highlight. Make sure you can eat spicy as this is quite spicy. The other trick is instead of just order, order with a set of money that you want to pay so they don't overcharge you.

Topped with generous portion of delicious Babi guling, crispy skin, crispy Daging merah, dendeng and lawar with a side of balung soup. We ordered the two different size: biasa (25k) and komplit (45k) which the only difference is you get more portion of meat - but you get the same items.
However, please note like all Babi guling it is not the safest or most hygienic food so please eat at your own risk.

This place is a hidden gem introduced by our local driver. The spice was stronger than the usual Babi Guling places with more side dishes compared to the already commercialized places.
The meal was fantastic while the place is still traditional went there with 2 young kids and they have no problem customizing the meal for them.

One of the best Babi Guling restaurants in the Munggu area, I always order the Babi Guling Campur, usually served with Kuah Balung Babi. The combination is just perfect and tastes amazing to me! I find the price quite affordable for a fairly large portion. The place is comfortable because the restaurant is surrounded by lots of greenery also they have doggo, and a seating spot with a view of the rice fields.

Wanted to eat some Babi Guling at night and came here after hearing some recommendations. Came here at about 8pm.
Honestly, I would like to come here again in the day because the pork has already been prepared, unlike the daytime ones where it is fresh out from the fire. The pork skin is not as crispy, and it's a little cold. Also, the pricing is a bit on the middle range.
I like how the dish is prepared as a small variety in a plate. There is an array of different ways the pork is prepared, and innards such as fried lung and intestine we're also given. Most of the items here are deep fried, or stir fried & grilled. My personal favourites on this plate were the pork cackling skin, pork skewers, and the sambal with the sweet potato leaves. The skewers were so good we ordered extra. I rate: 4/5 🌟
To pair with the dish, rice with another sambal is given, with a small piping small hot bowl of peppery pork soup.
This used to be my favorite Babi Guling restaurant for many many years. Today was a disappointment, the meat was tough, dry and very boney. I ordered 3 extra meat and they were all disappointing. They moved back to the old location but the place is still very unpresentable and has portable toilet. We will try a different bigul restaurant next time we visit Bali.
The old place sadly burnt down, but the new "tent" is actually better, IMO. Airier and less dark. It always used to be heaving before the covid fiasco but it wasn't busy at all when we went there. Our go-to place for Babi Guling when we are in the area 👍

Despite the crowd, the staff was incredibly efficient, using electric buzzers to manage the waitlist, which kept things organized. I was seated almost immediately with a stunning view of the rice paddies.
I ordered the **Nasi Babi Guling Jumbo** (IDR 38,000, roughly $2.50 USD), which came loaded with tender suckling pig, crispy pork skin, pork sausage, lawar (a traditional Balinese vegetable mix), pork satay, and a savory pork soup. The pork was melt-in-your-mouth soft, with a smoky, well-spiced flavor, and the skin was perfectly crackly. The sambal matah added a fresh, spicy kick that tied everything together. I also tried their “es daluman”, a refreshing dessert beverage of mixed grass jelly in coconut milk and palm sugar, which was a great palate cleanser.
The service was friendly and professional, even with the hectic pace. The warung has clearly evolved since its early days as a small local spot in 2016, now boasting a larger space and extras like coffee and Balinese “jajanan pasar” (local cakes and desserts). I noticed a group next to me order a whole roasted pig for takeout, which looked impressive and apparently feeds 6-12 people for around $120 AUD.
My only minor gripe was the wait time during busy hours (noon), but the food and ambiance made it worthwhile. If you’re planning a visit, I’d recommend arriving early (before noon) to beat the rush or catching the sunset for an even more picturesque experience. Warung Babi Guling Pande Egi lives up to its legendary status as one of Bali’s best babi guling spots—highly recommended for anyone craving authentic Balinese cuisine in a beautiful settings and local price!

In my opinion, this is one of the best bigul in the Canggu - Tanah Lot area. It is more popular with locals than tourists, and the price is very reasonable, around 35-40K per person. A babi guling joint frequented largely by locals. Tried it as was on the way to Uluwatu.
Restaurant set up was simple. Non air conditioned and back faces the padi field. Tables were sparesely laid out and felt quitr comfortable given the well ventilation by fans and natural breeze.
The babi guling rice was different from Ibu Oka. Pork is similar in texture but the sauce was different. I prefer Ibu Oka against this. Made a side order of pork skin and it was hard as with Ibu Oka's version. Much prefer the goreng version which is crispy. Price wise is about 45% lower vs Ibu Oka (Rp30k vs Rp55k).
I went there because there were many positive reviews, but it wasn't tasty. It seemed like they charged a bit more for tourists. Both receptionists had to check with the mother every time to find out the price. The mother never smiled and was rude.

We were really looking forward to trying this babi guling spot in Nusa Dua, which came recommended by our hotel. It’s one of those roadside local stalls that promises an authentic experience.
We ordered three jumbo set meals, along with one extra serving of pork skin and fried pork fritters (we were told that was the maximum allowed for add-ons). The meal was a mix of hits and misses. The standout was definitely the fried pork fritters — crispy, flavorful, and addictive. However, the pork skin wasn’t as crispy as we had hoped and was quite tough to bite through. The pork meat itself was rather dry and lacked the juiciness we were expecting from a good babi guling.
There was no proper queue system in place, so we had to hover and wait around to get a table. The dining environment was also very hot and humid, and we ended up sweating through the entire meal.
Overall, it was an interesting local experience, but the food didn’t quite live up to the hype for us.

Since it is a popular place for babi guling, don't expect to sit down immediately, or to have your food served fast. Service wise, it is a warung so you can't expect a 5 star dining experience. But was is an experience dining here is the friendly dogs, aromatic smoke from the pork being roasted and the overall balinese local food experience. Might be pricy for a babiguling but the portion size was generous and cmon, it is a tourist place with lots of staff, it would be a bit more pricy.

This is the 3rd Babi Guling I had tried so far. To be fair, for 50k you get a fairly big serving of pork, sausage, crispy skin other spices condiments, as compared to the 25k stalls. Not forgetting a bowl of spiced rich pork broth with banana stems(interesting).

Taste is very pretty good, ambience not at all, parking is a problem if you drive.

Not sure what the hype is about this place was charged 50k for the Babi guling. The pork skin wasn’t crispy it was soft which let the whole dish down the whole dish was cold as well. I went to the toilet & saw the kitchen at the back & looked very unhygienic. My friend got sick after eating also. I’ve had cheaper & far better quality. The guy who served us was friendly though, that’s probably the only thing that was good about this place unfortunately or maybe we came on an off day where the food wasn’t good, either way I won’t be trying it again.

One of our family fave babi guling (Bali roasted pork) in Denpasar, Bali. Not only for dine-in, but sometimes we take it on flights to other cities and the taste is still authentic when we arrived at our destination as long as everything is separated.

Portion is inconsistent, Tip for the portion, if the owner likes you, you probably get bigger portion. Taste sometimes inconsistent, it makes you wonder if they change the recipe. Services don’t expect too much, sometimes you get a nice treatment sometimes the opposite.
Overall, price for babi guling is standard, portion is highly inconsistent, taste is also inconsistent but I still like it. Came back here because the food is good, no other else.

The food is spicy but for some reasons I find it so irresistible. I only find locals in the restaurant. The food was prepared by a grandma. The customer service was exceptional even though I could barely communicate with the staff but they can understandwhat i was asking for. I would love to come back and try again.

The first bigul aka babi guling I had after coming to Bali. Still my top after trying 2 other places.
Why do I like this shop’s bigul? A few reason.
1. Variety in pork cuts (meat and innards) as well as preparation method
2. The sauce / kuah that was drizzled on the rice complimented the dish
3. Sambal matah / mentah was perfectly spicy
4. The soup provided on the side went really well. The meat chunks (which looked like chicken) was tender too
I was initially hesitant and unsure how I was going to finish this on my own and I planned to pass the remainder to my trusty food vacuum—my boyfriend. So I was truly surprised that I finished the plate and all too quickly.
Prices are super reasonable as well. 35k rupiah for my plate of bigul. Truly, what’s not to like?

Great spicy Babi Guling with different variety of meats: crispy skin, pork “crisps”, crispy pig intestines, meat and rice. The dish was spicy and also a soup with pork and radish was spicy and refreshing. Very good price, only 35000 rp. My only negative thing is that the lady that was assembling this dish, was doing that with her bear hands. So, if hygiene is not an issue for you, I would definitely recommend this place.

Well, there are many babi guling warong in Bali, and this stall still remain as one of my top babi guling stalls list in Kuta. Food are tasty, skin and other fried stuff are fresh and crispy. It might not be the best in town but for sure this place serve awesome comfort food.

Now this isn't the best thing ever, but at what seems to be the going rate for nasi babi guling in Bali, this really is more than worth the it.
The best thing on this plate hands down is the sate lilit, but really overall most of the components are better than average. Even the soup was surprisingly good. Sure you can add a bit of pepper to really elevate it, but it really is the freshest soup of this kind i have had. Even the sambal is so good considering it's probably the least oily sambal i have had around these parts.
Their crackling is really crunchy and tasty with a sufficient amount of smokiness. I really enjoy how dry it is, but i guess it really could use a bit of refinement in terms of pre frying prep to really make it the best crunchy crackling. Subsequently, i really appreciate that they didn't serve any plain white meat, but rather they had the meat doused in a sambal which seems to have a bit of tomato in it so the meat really is quite flavourful and juicy.
So yeah, if you're ever in this rather touristy area, this side alley eatery is quite a good deal. Do give it a try.

I ordered the special babi guling menu for Rp 60,000. In my opinion, it’s a bit pricey considering the portion wasn’t very generous. The taste was okay—more on the salty and slightly spicy side. The crispy pork and the kuah balung (bone broth) were the highlights. The sate was tasty too, but unfortunately, it was already cold, as was the pork skin.
My suggestion would be to keep the rice warm and adjust the portion of the side dishes to better match the price. Also, I’m not sure what the name of the lady at the cashier was, but I hope she can be a bit friendlier when customers are making payments :)

Came here after seeing the numerous reviews on Google for nasi campur babi guling in kuta area.
Spent Rp 50.000 for a portion of nasi campur babi guling biasa and mineral water. In my opinion, the normal portion (biasa) is enough for the ladies. But if you're looking to share, the larger portion (komplit) might be more suitable.
The normal portion is still ok. The clear soup tastes great! Overall the meat cuts are juicy. But to me, their seasoned pork satay failed as the meat is super hard to chew. Saw another customer from other table also found it hard to chew. Hope they can improve, as their other cuts are ok (some are even very juicy!).
Pricewise, Babi Guling Bu Ning offers a good meal with lower price tag (compared to the other 'branded' nasi campur/babi guling).
Note that they only accept cash, bank transfer, and card (no QR payment).

The best babi guling in town. Only Rp. 20.000 per plate for a complete package. Skip the blood sausage and get extra pork rind. Come in the morning otherwise you will miss the skin. We had tried this BBQ Pork Rice for lunch, we ordered Soup, Spesial Pisah, Pork Skin, Young Coconut. Food is ok and a bit spicy but the rice little bit hard, the pork skin is crunchy, if you like the pork meat you can try this restaurant.
Nasi Guling special comes with complimentary soup. The meat is tender. However, dishes is not hot, maybe prepared for some times. It has served with spicy sauce and only sauce is hot though. Avocado juice is nice and it is recommended. Overall food is good
Recently, we visited this restaurant on the recommendation of our tour guide—just a day after trying Warung Babi Guling Pande Egi—which made it the perfect chance to compare the two.
This time, we ordered the Babi Guling (without the soup, since it’s not really our preference) along with a side of crispy pork skin. The flavors here were spot on: the roasted pork was savory and well-seasoned, and everything came together beautifully with the lawar. The pork skin added that extra crunch, making the meal even more satisfying.
Overall, I’d say the taste here edges out the other place we tried. If you’re in Gianyar, Bali, this spot is definitely worth a visit for an authentic and delicious Babi Guling experience.
It’s still the best babi guling around. However the setting of the original place is so much nicer. We went for the food. The traffic was too bad and we couldn’t reach Ubud, so we settled for Ibu Oka 2. The portions were generous, the food was good and fresh. And proper fresh pressed orange juice.

Just like many tourists, we were bought here by our guide instead of original babi guling place we wanted to go to. However, it is ok because the food was good and came out quick, allowing us to quickly get to other sightseeing place. The restaurant was also quiet as we visited on a weekday lunch time allowing us to unwind a bit on a long day. Price was reasonable with food for 2 + 1 beer coming out to around $11.

Nasi Babi Guling Jero Kawan - Sunset Road at Kebun Cafe Bali is a popular spot near the Kuta area, easily visible from the main road. Opens very early, the food was really good, and the herbs were all fantastic. Very aromatic, the meat is very tender and nice. The pork soup is a bit salty for me but very recommended. Drinks were very nice and refreshing as well.

Jero Kawan spot is great to hang out, they have a big area for you go sit around and enjoy the natural feeling in the middle of the city. That’s the only thing they have going though, since the food itself is standard for a spit roast pork place. It can tough to beat the competition right across the street, but they should go with more flavour instead a lighter bite that they currently have.
The suckling pig is not edible at all! Not only just chewy but worst,cannot bite through. Everything is cold. Only the soup is hot but very very oily. The fried pork looks like yesterday’s leftover.. worst meal in Bali… unacceptable. If the kitchen is not ready to serve a good meal please dun serve it.

When you just arrived then you should stop by at this restaurant as it is on the way from the airpoert to Kuta, Seminyak, etc. They serve typical Balinese dish Nasi Campur. Absolutely enjoyed the pork cracklings, pork skin, roast pork, nasi goreng babi (pork fried rice) and sate babi (pork skewers). There are some houseflies flying about but this joint is a local favourite here. Traffic getting here is a little hard due to slow moving traffic from the university nearby.

This is one of the best babi guling spots in Denpasar. I’ve been a loyal customer since their shop was still small—back when a normal portion cost only IDR 10,000. Now, it’s IDR 25,000, but still worth it for the taste.
They also have spicy noodles, but personally, they’re not my favorite—the flavor doesn’t really suit my taste, and the sausage in the noodles isn’t great. Their true specialty is the babi guling, and it’s the best I’ve had.
One downside is their inconsistency. Sometimes it’s incredibly delicious, sometimes just average; sometimes very spicy, sometimes not at all. I really hope they work on consistency, because when they get it right, it’s truly the best babi guling experience.

If you are looking for one of the best Balinese mix rice , this is the right place to be. Don't get fooled by the looks of the restaurant from the outside because they provided a great place to sit inside. Today , I tried mix rice and the chicken rice. Both of them are good , especially the satay. Love the sambal , its not too spicy and I think most people can enjoy it. Don't forget to order their orange juice , very refreshing!

Don't be fooled by the front store, as there are nice seating arrangement Bali Style, a traditional interior design.
There are two option of meals, one typical pork mixed rice with all the Balinese ingredients and special made chilly mixed. Or you can have it as kids portion where no spices added just the rice with the pork meat.
The price is 25K for the normal portion and 20K fpr the kids meal version.

The first restaurant we tried once we arrived in Ubud and it did not disappoint. The food was absolutely delicious yet very affordable.
They only have 3 things on their menu: mixed pork rice, mixed chicken rice, and mixed "vegetarian" rice; perfect for indecisive people like us. Each chicken/pork variety in each dish was so flavorful yet complemented each other somehow.
We also tried the es jamur; an iced mushroom tea that's similar to kombucha. It became my partner's favorite and ordered it every time we ate there.
The shop may not look like much from the outside but they have these beautiful and peaceful dining area in the temples inside.

Babi Guling Bu Ari is a popular eatery located in Payangan, north of Ubud. Due to its growing popularity, the owner, Ibu Ari, expanded the venue to a larger location closer to town. The restaurant offers exceptional babi guling and is also known for its special version of lawar. Visitors can easily spot the place by heading north from the Arjuna statue towards Tegalalang.

Don't expect much on the ambiance when you come here. But trying babi guling dish should definitely be experienced by tourists who come to Bali and eat pork.
It's an authentic restaurant where locals go for their Babi Guling.
The food is good, I didn't have Bali belly so its safe as the food is prepared daily.
And the best part is you get to mingle with the locals and really experienced how they are as opposed to those locals in the service industry who keep a protective wall around them, who probably have had enough of abusive tourists.
Don't expect much about the place. They have a small menu, it's inexpensive and safe. Unlike other places serving babi guling, this restaurant is open til 8pm.
I recommend this place to those who want to experience a local Balinese dish for non muslims.
Came here with my private driver based on his recommendation, and what a remarkably great find it was. Fantastic Babi Guling and the side dishes were also very tasty. Prices were very reasonable, though since prices are not mentioned on any menus, perhaps we only got such great prices because my driver didn't let them over charge us as tourists. Definitely worth a visit if you want to try true authentic Balinese food!
Super first try of babi guling. Whilst travelling around over the last few days, I had noticed the golden pigs in glass cabinets, presented to the streets as we scooted by, so I needed to sample some for myself.
There are a number of places dotted around Ubud so, without a recommendation, I relied on the next best way to find good spot; check if the locals are eating there. I spotted Buk Ari, already with about 10 scooters parked up in the ample parking area - bingo!
I ambled past the already familiar swine cabinet and in to the dining area, large communal tables with bench seating. After some awkward motioning, I finally got the message that I take a seat to be served and I chose the ‘special’, which arrived in minutes.
I was not disappointed - the portions were more than adequate, pork roasted and fried, a fresh ginger and chili sambal, blood sausage, herb salad, a small bowl of broth plus rice, and two types of crackling.
At 45000IRP/4.50AUD it is quite reasonable and very satisfying. Add a bottle of water for 5000IRP/0.50AUD and that is an inexpensive meal-deal or get it to go for even less (very popular with locals).
It will not be for everyone but it is a great experience outside the comfort zone, provided you like pork. I loved it.

The food is very good alrhough a bit salty for me. You better order for takeaway, and you should determine the price. I bought the food for IDR 15K each. And if you don't like it spicy or hot, you have to tell the waiter "tidak pedas", which means s/he won't put any hot sauce on the rice.

Very tasty local food that's only 2AUD for a plate. Went there at 10am and almost all the pork crackles were gone. The plate also includes deep fried lung and liver-very small potion. It wasn't as spicy as I thought and my stomach was still feeling okay the next day. The owner also speaks some English so it wasn't hard to communicate.

The owner was very kind to share some organic bananas with me. I wished i could go back but unfortunately i only discovered this place on my last day.
