The mead was superb there are three types I recommend having one of each - you maybe tipsy leaving but happy The reindeer steak was amazing, the combination of flavors were complex and well balanced. The meat was cooked to perfection and not a step more. The desert were both enjoyable

Traditional Norwegian food, with great local beers on offer too. I had the mushroom casserole as it was the only vegetarian option - nice earthy savoury flavours. The brown cheese mousse for dessert was fantastic! Everything came quickly and the service was fast - a bit too fast for me, especially given the high price, I would have liked to slow down and savour this a bit more. The restaurant is popular and very busy, but has a lively atmosphere. A tiny bit underwhelming for the price, but probably more exciting if you're a meat-eater

This was amazing food. Traditional Norwegian dishes with what felt like a modern feel. Every morsel was tasty. My husband and son had the meatballs. I had the fish pie. Very tasty. Great atmosphere in the restaurant. Casual and comfortable. Staff were friendly and entertaining ☺️ I would agree with other reviews. The value of this food for the quality was better than other restaurants we saw around.

Great value for the price. The whale steak was amazing, the lamb stew incredibly tasty. The fish soup was nice but nothing special. Everything was beautifully presented, especially the reindeer cured meat. Really pleasant service. Would come back!

Nice cafe with quite good coffee. My V60 was slightly acidic (grind size a bit too big) and the wait time was 15 minutes when there were only 5 people in front of me because there was only one staff member on a Saturday morning during busy time, but on the whole decent. They have a good selection of coffees.

It really has the best flat whites I have one with soy next day with oat and both smooth and delicious. also had their toast with avocado and egg. The bread here is nice and thin but super filling and tasty. A great to find a small cafe instead of the touristy branded ones that serve mediocre coffee at best. ✨

This coffee shop has a great atmosphere and the service is warm and welcoming. With their many awards, I came in expecting the coffee to really stand out. Unfortunately, the quality didn’t quite meet those expectations. I ordered a flat white – while the presentation was nice, the milk texture wasn’t as creamy as it should be, and the espresso tasted a bit plain and lacked depth. Overall, it’s a lovely place to sit and enjoy the vibe, but I feel the coffee itself could be improved to match the high reputation.

Great place to chill and read. Both the filter and V60 are delicious. They let you pick any of the bags they have to make you on a V60, so it's like a taste if you are looking to pick up a bag too.

We came in at 5:00 PM, which is a bit early for dinner there, but we had been traveling all day and had not had lunch. Thomas could not have been nicer and let us be the first guests for the evening in the dining room. Service was fabulous and dinner delicious. We had langostinos for a starter and my friend had the wolf fish and I had the green risotto. We came back the next evening for a drink in the bar in front. Also excellent.

This is my honest review of the restaurant Colonialen Litt in Bergen, Norway. This restaurant, located in the heart of Bergen not far from the fish market, offers a truly unique concept. No reservation on a saturday, such a tourist move (that’s on us). Three of us if you include our baby boy so yeah of course fully booked but the very kind hostess offered the sofa - which I can really appreciate. Thinking in function of the restaurant and customer experience. It was great. Good atmosphere, vibrant and young staff and no nonsense good food. We will be back in Bergen, and we will be back in Litthus!

Had a business lunch, and the waiter is not very responsive. Food is simple for lunch but decent, thus 4 stars. Their egg benedict looks great, but unfortunately I went for the mussels. I make better mussels so it didnt impress me much. Interior is not great, but if you like rustic style it is fine. Therefor only 3 stars for ambient and interior and 2-3 stars for service.

Just besides of the famous local fish market and we enjoyed the creamy fish soup there at Bjerck! The staff are all warm hearted, the atmosphere there is quiet and comfortable.

My partner and I came in for lunch and ordered the chicken Caesar. It was decent—nothing standout, but fresh and well-prepared. The issue was timing. Service moved slowly, and our server seemed stretched thin. It looked like they were handling too many tables at once, which made it hard to flag someone down when we needed anything. The wine pours were small, and each one cost more than $16 USD. My salad ran about $28. At those prices, you’d expect a more polished experience or something memorable. This wasn’t that. It felt more like a view-premium than a food or service one. To be clear—nothing was terrible. But for a quick lunch, this felt too slow and too expensive. If you’re short on time or watching your budget, I’d recommend looking elsewhere.

Had a corner table with the view towards Torget and Fløyen. We where 7 people that had a range of dinners and everyone where pleased with the food and service. Personally I shared the Kveitekotelett with on other. That in itself was a bit too much cooked and lacking salt to my tast (no salt on the tables) so just a bit underwhelming. On the other hand I had their Tiramisu as dessert and it was perfect, higher than my expectations, coming from someone that always chooses it when available. I will come back, but go for a more secure choice for main course. Call / order ahead for a window table.

Amazing Place. The Cod was outstanding! We had a little miscommunication issue on my behalf and I ordered a shrimp plate that I was allergic to, but immediately was taken care and offered options. The service was friendly the second we walked in. We felt very welcomed. Great Spot! Definitely worth a try!! If I am ever back in Bergen this will be my first place. Great Job!

A major hidden gem off the beaten path. Mostly locals with their dogs. The food was wonderful. I had the Skagenröra hard cider and the mixed berry ice cream. Everything was fantastic. The ice cream was one of the best I've had. With fresh mixed berry preserves and a shortbread mini waffle cone. The “Skagenröra was large, with fish roe and fresh cherry tomatoes. Perfectly seasoned and lots of seafood. Healthy portion but not too big.

Wondered around streets of Bergen and accidentally found an amazing place for food. Tugged away in a neighborhood away from tourist places. Crew were polite and helpful and the food served was surprisingly great. Wasn't sure what to expect but having tried I would recommend this place. Ordered Norwegian meat and vegetable soup which was warm and nice (especially it was a cold day) and Prawn and crab plate (was plentiful and fresh). Overall a fantastic dining experience for lunch.

Meat soup was large and delicious "guy food", and the crab and prawns was served cold and fresh. You order from the bar first! Prices were high, but we expected that. The place was full at 7P, people were friendly. This is a small place in a residential area that is open late and I recommend it.

Best pub I found in Bergen with a good selection. Its about a 5-10 minute walk up the hill from the downtown area and 20 minutes from the bus/train/tram. Worth a stop for sure. Very good vibe.

Stopped by accidentally but love it! The ice cream is made with quality ingredients and brunost one is sooo good pair with homemade brownie. There are table inside to sit and chill too, eve though it is cold outside, didn’t stop me for their cozy place!

Decided to drop by this ice cream parlour. They have a few flavours to choose from. We had the pistachio and chocolate ice cream separately in a cone on a hot sunny day. Definitely worth a stop here in Bergen.

You know a place is good when people are willing to queue for what’s on offer. This place was recommended by a tour guide and was totally worth the queue. They have a dedicated allergen menu which is great as I’m gluten free. Check their website for their allergens. They also have a QR code link on the door. Some flavours may change seasonally. Staff are very allergen aware for all flavours. Very nice and creamy with some unique flavours. We didn’t sit in, but took ours to go. Well worth the visit!

A very small, unassuming, quiet ice cream shop that has the best ice cream I've ever eaten. I highly recommend the brownie sundae with cherry bomb ice cream. The brownies and whipped cream are both made in house. They have a small seating area that can probably accommodate a dozen people, but they can make everything to go. Perfect for after dinner, or before hitting the many bars in the area!

I had the vegetarian cauliflower soup — a Norwegian take on the classic. It was delicious and perfectly comforting on a rainy day in Bergen.

For my last day in Bergen, I wanted to explore less touristy neighborhoods, which led me to a cozy cafe called Nobel Popel. Place was pretty packed since the weather was sunny and it was the weekend, nevertheless I was able to find a place and got a cardamom and coconut cappuccino (63NOK) alongside a vanilla bun vanilla hun (44NOK). Gotta say, though the service was immaculate and the vibe was very cozy, both the cappuccino and bun were disappointingly flavourless.

The interior was extremely pleasantly designed, you could tell that someone poured their soul into that place. Also good sitting space with both sofas and chairs. The prices were not expensive, and staff very friendly, as we forgot to ask for oat milk (entirely our fault) they offered to remake our coffee free of charge. Sweet place, totally recommended!!!

Nice cafe with a beautiful interior. I had just a coffee which was reasonably priced (for Norway). The stuff was very nice and helpful. A lot of sitting place inside and outside. Wheelchair accessible and there is a place to change a baby in the toilet.

The cafe is so peaceful, and simply beautiful. The brunch menu is surprisingly sufficient unlike many places in Norway. We had brownie, cappuccino, cortado and the shared brunch platter. The brownie was fine. The coffees were good; I also loved the cups. The shared brunch was both delicious and very satisfying with cheese, fruits, hummus and else. The bread served was also very fresh and delicious. All in all, it was a good experience.

We just had a tea because it was rainy outside but the cafe was so cozy and calm and the service very friendly! (+ amazing music playing) We were also happy that it was open until 8. If you want milk or honey in your tea you don’t need to pay extra! Also really pretty hood where the cafe is located. We recommend!!!🌺

Noble Bopple has always been one of my favorite cafés in Bergen. I used to come almost every weekend for their chili cappuccino and often for brunch with friends their food and atmosphere have always been pleasant. But recently I had an unpleasant experience. We were with friends and ordered lots of things it was only me that have some food sensitivities, so I had a small lunchbox with something I could safely eat. But I ordered my drinks and dessert from them. A lady who works there, whom I hadn’t seen before, came and spoke to me very rudely in front of everyone, telling me I couldn’t eat it there. It was embarrassing and uncomfortable, especially in front of everyone. She told me to close the box right away, and stood there until I did. I completely understand that it’s their café and their rules, and of course I followed what she said but the way it was said really disappointed me I still like this café, but I hope next time they treat customers with a bit more kindness.

Was a bit hesitant to book a reservation because I had seen so many mixed reviews, but I am SO glad I did! I booked a lunch reservation for 5, and to my surprise, there was only one other couple that had joined us for our experience. The boat ride in itself was an experience, but when we got there, we were absolutely blown away. When you get there, you are warmly greeted by the staff. Our server was an amazing girl named Paula (spell-check), who made sure we were happy during our entire time there. The owner introduced himself to us and told us to explore the property, which had breathtaking views. The food itself was amazing. Since we did the lunch, we had a sharing experience. First they brought bread, which would’ve been sufficient enough in itself, it was delicious! Our next course was a fish soup. Then, they brought out the cold tower, and everything on it tasted so fresh and delicious. It was more than enough for our party of 5. We had no idea we would also be getting mussels still before dessert, and honestly couldn’t even finish everything because there was so much food. By the time we got our dessert we were absolutely stuffed, but it was amazing! While we were there, we got to see the owner diving for sea urchins that they would be serving. Once he got back, he even let all of us try some fresh sea urchin that he had just caught. If we had booked a dinner experience (owner said that they were expecting 200 people for dinner on the day that we went), I don’t think that we would have gotten the same personal and intimate experience that we got for our lunch. Overall such a great experience that I would recommend to anyone that visits Bergen.

We arrived with our own boat without a reservation. Lucky us, we had a very welcoming arrival and everyone made an effort to squeeze us in. The five course tasting menu was a real treat. We had a tour of the impressive wine cellar and the enormous selection made it very easy to find our match for the evening. The whole team was very friendly and knowledgeable. Everything but the food was close to perfect. Understand that most things in Oslo is $$$. However, the bill to end the night would have been much better if the food matched the price. They use ingredients that is local to the region, but the portion was simply not big enough. They needed maybe, 2 more courses, for you to leave filled and satisfied. We had to find another place to eat after getting back to Oslo. Overall, the cook and flavour of the food was good but not amazing. Food aside, everything was an amazing experience. The location of the restaurant is simply stunning, the boat ride to the restaurant was peaceful, and the front of house team was attentive and friendly. Overall, we'd recommend the experience to friends but with a caveat of the food that's served.

The experience here is so wonderful. The food was absolutely amazing and our waiter Marian was the nicest most exuberant guy! He loved the sea and told us lots of places to go and facts about the food. He made the experience all the better for it. I would 10/10 recommend this restaurant, it is well worth it and will be a memory my husband and I look back on fondly for a long time.

Don’t listen to the bad reviews. Yes, it’s expensive, yes, it takes time, and yes it’s an amazing experience! The wine cellar is unheard off. They have the most exquisite and exclusive wines seen in a restaurant! That was so unique! The owner and his wife joined us on our table which made it all so communal. We came by boat and stayed overnight. All in all - a wonderful stay. The food was really good. I couldn’t believe that they provided me with a gluten free and lactose and dairy free menu on short notice. I still can’t believe I didn’t take a photo of my favourite dish. The halibut! I’m still licking my lips thinking about it.

Great place! Second delicious meal since arriving in Norway. We found this place when walking through the city centre. A few nice outdoor tables, friendly service, and very good food. I had a Thai May chicken wok dish (excellent), and my partner had the chicken wrap. Side note, loved my Elderberry juice (an alcohol free option, non-sparkling). Excellent WiFi service for guests.

Me and the wife are both amazing. We then got the bruschetta which honestly didn’t taste bruschetta more like garlic bread, but it was still yummy. The pancakes are way more like crêpes, but they were so cool and stuffed with Yum Yum. The potatoes were also fantastic as an appetizer I would highly recommend overall experience rate mood great candle, dinner or lunch to bring your partner and have a nice time with a nice meal in a nice place. So I got here they apologize for it being busy the food take a long time, I’m sure it honestly only took 10 to 20 minutes, which from Canada isn’t a long time at all. Pleased with everything

Not a bad place for vegetarian options. Seating is a bit sporadic and one has to order at bar but there are no table numbers. Menu is varied and there are vegetarian options. My burger was quite beany with hummus which is a good thing but did miss out on having a satisfying bite. Prices are reasonable . I found service quite slow though. Staff is reasonably friendly. So overall not a bad choice and very central

Entered 30 minutes before closing on my last night here as I had the cardamom bun and it was the best I had in the other branch (Flottmannsplassen). Worried that I couldn’t make it in time to enjoy sitting in the cafe to have it but the staff said that we could enjoy them in the store for about 30 minutes! Unfortunately, cardamom buns were sold out (understandable since it’s SO GOOD), so we got the cinnamon bun with custard instead and two hot drinks. Staff were all friendly and approachable even 15 minutes before closing, they’re still entertaining customers 🙏🏻🙏🏻 thank you for making my last night in Bergen so memorable!

Nice and cosy cafe located inside the public library. Reasonably made coffee at reasonable price. Smorgasbord also available for lunch or snack.

Very nice open faced sandwiches and very affordable for Bergen! Unfortunately, the service was pretty poor. The server treated us like we were inconveniencing her just by being there. Moreover, she denied that they offered a Bergen card discount despite the city advertising them as a café which did. Prices were still reasonable regardless.

We had to use Google Translate to decipher the menu, as they didn’t have an English version. What we thought were a sandwich and toast came out as an open-faced sandwich and a grilled sandwich, respectively. It took a while for us to get our food, however. My husband’s coffee was made very quickly, but then we noticed other people who had come in after us being served their food first. Later a staff member started making their own lunch. It wasn’t particularly busy, but it appeared that they just forgot us. We had to enquire about our order before finally getting our food. Despite the simplicity of the dishes (bread with ham and cheese), it was delicious… I was a fan of the wholemeal/seeded bread that was used in the open-faced sandwich. Unfortunate that the prices were a bit steep, but it seemed to be like that wherever we went in Bergen.

Lovely coffee and the 1 or 2 plant-based options they have are amazing. Wish they had more options though! Maybe something sweet?

Perfect for parents and children. Staff in the cafe could be more service minded. Food and drinks are great though. Wonder how they can use so much heart to make excellent food and forget a bit of their hearts when it comes to customers. Library staff deserves 10 stars though.

Great place to have a coffee with a friend or to sit down and get some work done in a cozy and ambient environment. Serves freshly made meals. Good opening hours, and a fairly well stocked bar makes it a good place to meet up in the evenings also.

Amalies Hage is a café located in Bergen city library, side by side the Bergen Storsenter shopping mall, and Bergen bus and train station. The prices is ranged from low to average. The food is good, and is perfect, if you want to eat some light lunch or have a quick snack. It is a good place to relax as well. The staff is helpful. If you visit Bergen, this cafe is worth to drop by.

Such a cool spot!!! Staff is super friendly, amazingly decorated and good vibes ;) I just had coffee but had a peak on the food and looks delish! Proper American size as well - these guys take it for real ;)

I order fries. I had to ask for the ketchup and had to add salt. Not the best meal but the DJ music and vibe with the umbrellas was super cool. I could have stayed just for that experience.

This restaurant is fun to be in and the burgers were really good and the milkshakes are properly topped heavily with whipped cream and chocolate. Really goos food there. The only thing though is their dirty fries, which is just regular fries with some cheese sauce on top. Really could have been dirtier. Otherwise, excellent service and atmosphere👍

Great diner for grabbing a meal or a drink. Good selection of milkshakes. The outside area is very nice in good weather, with a cosy atmosphere and central location in Skostredet.

The rib I had saved me after a day full if sightseeing. Tender meat, great sides and generous portions. Highly recommended.

Ok food and som nice factors... please fix this: 1. Had to wait for 15 minutes to order after getting the menu.. it was few guests. 2. Had to listen to a quarrel between the bartender and the waitress. Very unproffesional and disturbing.

Really nice and cozy place with a small but refined menu. A lot of vegetarian options are available with generous quantities. The staff in the restaurant is nice and friendly. Service is quick with serving staff having detailed knowledge of the items on the menu. All in all a great place to enjoy a meal.Juices and Chai are worth a shot for a unique experience.

Beer’s fantastic, food tastes delcious (but side dish is a way too less!), overall pretty neat and clean. Very cozy and a nice ambience.

Dwell serves great vegan and vegetarian food where you are free to choose the style you want. I would recommend the chickpea burger or the black bean burger. The service at Dwell is also excellent, just like the atmosphere.

Insanely cosy, professional, diverse, super duper staff, would recommend everyone to chill outhere and enjoy the menue and especially the tea (chai)

On a cool and rainy evening in Bergen - and in a Sunday night, when many restaurants are shut early - it was a pleasure to have this cozy spot just a few minutes' walk from our Airbnb flat. A chèvre and ham toasted sandwich (in a panini press) on their own house-made bread was the perfect light supper. The caffe lattes were also excellent. Reasonable prices for Norway.

Very nice staff, great beer on tap, nice vegetarian burger and loads of games and books. A warm place with a great view.

Excellent cozy place to grab a coffee or a beer and some warm food. The room is small and full of books and fun signs. You are almost forced to talk to your neighbors. The bartender Lisbeth was very friendly and happy to suggest good things to do in Bergen. Prices are very reasonable for the area. Definitely recommended!

Great little cafe with very good food. We had the tagliatelle with bacon and the burger, both of which were full of flavor and delicious. Nice little selection of local beers as well. Plenty of coffee/pastry options, too.

As soon as you arrived you are welcoming by a lovely lady with a lovely SMILE . I had Fish Soup, it was really good. and of course I had a lovely homemade Carrot cake with a latte. I recommend 100% Excellent food , Nice people and Nice place . It was worth it !!!
