Restaurant
Armando al Pantheon is a long-standing restaurant in the Pigna neighborhood, just a few steps from Piazza Navona. It offers hearty, traditional Roman fare in a wood-paneled dining room. The restaurant provides an unforgettable outdoor dining experience with the iconic Pantheon as a backdrop. Chef Claudio Gargioli's unique culinary creations add clever twists to honest classics, making it an exciting destination for food enthusiasts.
100% worth securing a reservation 1 month in advance. The food was incredible and service was top-notch. I took one bite of their veal special they were offering that night and it took me back to my Grandparents kitchen. Highly recommend this spot for dinner. Also worth mentioning: they received a Michelin Star back in 2017!

We have been trying to get a table at Armando’s for several years on every trip to Rome. This year we finally managed to get a reservation and albeit it was for a late time - 10:00PM - we were excited to be able to finally taste the food at this famed restaurant. Upon entering we were warmly greeted and sat at our table and quickly serviced by our waiter. We started our meal off with the appetizer of the day which was lamp organs with sautéed chicory and served on a fresh bun. It was nicely presented and tasted delicious. Off to a good start. For our main course we ordered the Roman traditional Rigatoni all’amatriciana (my wife’s favorite) and for my self the daily special which was a cooked veal dish plus a couple sides. When the food arrived it looked nicely prepared but unfortunately with the very first bite disappointment struck. My veal dish was way overcooked which made the meat very dry. So much so that the flavor and moisture of the sauce and the ricotta got lost in it. While my wife enjoyed her dish, having taken a few bites of her pasta I also found the Guanciale to be over fried and charred (my wife likes it that way) leaving a bitter taste. The side dishes were good however. Nevertheless, I had high expectations for this place based on what I have heard from friends and read in reviews and felt let down despite the good parts. The mistakes made were too big and essential. Knowing that I likely won’t be able to revisit to give it another shot I’m left feeling cheated out of an experience that should have been one of the highlights from this trip. It is worth noting: We had a group of friends that had been able to secure a lunch table a couple days later. We recommended to stick to their staple dishes like Carbonara and the Osso Buco. They shared with us afterwards that the meal and overall experience was great. I hope to revisit the place in the future and to be able to share a better review next time around.

Terrific restaurant right next to the Pantheon. It is very popular so you must make a reservation when the date become available 1 month in advance. A kine forms outside before it opens but people with reservations are seated first so dont worry if you are way down the line. The restaurant is very nice inside and quiet which was great. The service was great. Everyone was so friendly and helpful with suggestions. The food was very good as well as the local Chianti. We had Lambs heart, liver and lung on a roll, grilled lamb shanks and rigatoni alla amatriciana.
Robert U — Google review
We were looking forward to our reservation at this restaurant (reservations definitely necessary if possible). We ultimately tried just two dishes. The pasta itself was very well done, however the sauce was not very flavourful. The Roman lamb (abbachio allo scottadito) was fantastic though - definitely recommend. The food and drinks are all quite pricey (as you might imagine in central Rome) in addition to service and water charges.
Mike B — Google review
We were very lucky that the waiter made a plan for us without having a reservation, as this is must. And then we tasted the best carbonara ever, and the house wine and prosecco was just special and amazing. Traditional Roman menu! Everything was tasty and delicious. And the staff just friendly and really great service.
Ronwyn M — Google review
Fabulous restaurant next to the Pantheon (obviously). MUST reserve a month ahead exactly. Strangely when we arrived there was a sign saying "fully booked" but restaurant was not full. They must know their limits and cook amazing food for a limited crowd. I would not choose outdoor seating which requires an email. The atmosphere inside is lovely. Outside is a little chaotic. Best Rigatoni all' Amatriciana we had in Rome, period. Crispy guanciale, perfectly toothy rigatoni. Carbonara and cacio e Pepe also both perfection. Our appetizers were lovely, a tomato bread with bufala mozzarella, and anchovies over cooked greens. Amazing wine at a reasonable price recommended by the sommelier. Wish we could go back. Just outstanding.

I’d been wanting to try this restaurant ever since I saw it mentioned in several blogs and social media posts. There are two ways to eat here: either you book a table weeks in advance, or line up before the restaurant opens for lunch and hope there’s still a table left after the reservations. The second option is a bit risky — the line gets long, and not everyone gets in. The restaurant is right across from the Pantheon, with a simple decor. We ordered two classics: rigatoni all’amatriciana and carbonara, paired with two glasses of red wine (one full-bodied, one medium-bodied). The guanciale in the amatriciana was crispy and served in larger pieces, though the dish itself was a bit on the salty side. The carbonara had a creamy, well-balanced sauce. Overall, the pasta was delicious — maybe not the absolute best we’ve had, but definitely worth trying. Service is quite slow, so be patient — our dishes took about 40 minutes to arrive.
Deniz Y — Google review
I saw the restaurant on Stanley Tucci's TV show. Booking a table was challenging due to the popularity of the place. I finally got a table for lunch. The place was cozy and the service was good. The wine and amatriciana were really good. I definitely recommend the place!

Roscioli Salumeria con Cucina is a bustling destination in Rome that offers an array of culinary delights. It transforms from a deli to an A-list restaurant during mealtime, with tables set against the cheese counter and a selection of remarkable Italian and foreign wines. The menu features exceptional dishes such as the renowned carbonara and delightful burrata, along with local and Spanish cured pork, and Cecina de Leon.
My partner and I enjoyed a truly delicious meal featuring Cacio e Pepe - a simple yet exquisite pasta dish with the perfect harmony of cheese and pepper. Alongside it, we were served a selection of fresh breads that complemented the flavours. The restaurant’s location adds a distinctive charm to the overall experience, and it’s clearly a favourite among diners. I’d recommend booking well in advance. Despite the busy atmosphere, our waiter was exceptionally friendly and attentive. Service was prompt, yet never rushed, which made the evening feel relaxed and well-paced. To finish, I had ice cream while my partner opted for a meringue cake. We were also treated to a few biscuits with rich chocolate sauce for dipping. It was a delightful and indulgent end to a memorable meal.

I first came here over ten years ago and recall the food and service being good, so I decided to take my wife here for lunch during our recent visit to Rome. Unfortunately, the restaurant has changed quite a bit, and not for the better. We arrived a little early and were told by a lady with a clipboard that we needed to wait outside until our reservation before being seated. What followed was a roll call of sorts where we were treated as though we were being granted entry to some sort of exclusive nightclub. The restaurant itself is nicely decorated and the walls are adorned with all sorts of wines and spirits. It’s a little cramped inside, but that’s part of the charm, I suppose. Unfortunately, the food itself didn’t live up to the slightly pretentious air of the place. While it was decent enough, it certainly wasn’t worth the price, as we spent over 40 euros a head for a couple of small starters and two bowls of pasta. My tagliatelle ragu was dressed with an excessive amount of pecorino romano which overpowered the flavour of the sauce. The restaurant could save money on ingredients and improve the taste of the pasta by using it more sparingly in future. The tiramisu was also fine, but nothing special. Overall, this place simply isn’t worth the money. In the evening, we went to Kung Fu Express for dinner and the food was half the price and twice as good.

Highly recommend to experience proper Italian and Roman food. Entertaining to sit by the counter too and watch the chefs prepare the platters. Trippa and pasta dishes were perfect! Staff was extremely helpful and suggested and explained everything to us! Best to book in advance though as it’s very popular for obvious reasons.
Tom Z — Google review
It was hands down the best of the best from this entire trip. If you’re in Rome, this place is an absolute must-go! The Parma ham I had here was honestly the best thing I ate during my whole vacation — truly unforgettable. The wine list and every single dish were just amazing, absolutely mind-blowing. The place is always busy and full of energy, and the servers are constantly on the move, but that’s part of its charm. I’ll definitely be coming back multiple times next time I’m in Rome. The food here is something I’ll never forget! It just became my and hubby’s fav restaurant in the world💛
April — Google review
Food is pretty good, albeit completely overpriced. My carbonara came out cold, with almost no sauce. The tripe and foie gras was good, as well as the prosciutto and tiramisu. Service was a mixed bag, our waiter told us there is no gluten free bread even though there was and we had to ask someone else to get it. Also, if you get seated at the counter clients will come in and order stuff to go over your table which is a bit weird.
Jernej B — Google review
This place is incredible! The atmosphere, the food and the staff make for an unforgettable night out. We were a group of 8 people (adults and teenagers) and sat in the downstairs room. Fabio, our waiter, was incredibly friendly, knowledgeable and made the whole experience a wonderful night out. You need to book well in advance to secure a table - it is well worth a visit and their sister store is the place to visit for pastries / lunch.
Emma T — Google review
An Italian friend recommended this, saying it was the best carbonara she’d ever had. And she wasn’t wrong. We had reservations for 2.30pm - the only slot they had! - but we got there about 1pm and the lady at the door very kindly seated us. The service was brilliant, with recommendations for wine from the lovely waiter (who even let me try out my rubbish Italian with him) and lovely little complimentary touches like a savoury amuse bouche and teeny churros with chocolate sauce. This was the highlight of our trip to Rome but you will need to book - and well in advance!
Julie A — Google review
Make resys 3 months in advance. It's worth it! The service is great, the food is top notch. Prices are extremely reasonable. We ordered a couple of things we normally would not get because, well... when in Rome! There was 4 of us, we had 2 apps, 4 entrees, 1 dessert and 6 drinks, the bill was 244€. This was our 2nd visit and we are coming back before we head home. The oxtail stuffed zucchini flowers were the stand out favorite of the whole table. 10/10.

Flavio al Velavevodetto, located in one of Rome's historic neighborhoods, is a culinary gem known for its fantastic traditional Roman cuisine. The restaurant's owner, Flavio De Maio, honed his skills at the renowned Felice a Testaccio before opening his own establishment. Here, he serves up a delightful variation of the trattoria's signature cacio e pepe dish and a rich ox-tail stew called coda alla vaccinara.
This is the kind of place you hope to find yourself in, when you travel to Rome. Off the tourist track, no loud talking Americans and Brits. Just a relaxed, confident and unprentious restaurant. Full of charm, authenticity, friendly service and above all great food. The carbonara and Cacio e Pepe are quite rightly famous (they're fantastic), but for me, the Trippa is the star! Wow, what a perfect meal.
Arthur F — Google review
Traditional dishes expertly made. Had the feel of an old establishment loved by locals. We were seated outside, which turned out to be a mistake for a mosquito magnet like me, though.
S. P — Google review
Flavio al Velavevodetto is a Real Roman Restaurant with one of the largest wine lists that I have ever seen in a Roman Cuisine Restaurant. Serves all of the classic Roman dishes and they are the original ones, all the food is delicious, the wine selection mentioned is absolutely fantastic. The restaurant during the summer season has also a pretty sweet outside area that makes enjoy more the pretty nice weather. If you never tried is a must In Rome. P.S. the Rigatoni with Pajata are to die for. Food: 9 Service: 7 Wine: 10 Vibe 9 Highly recommend this restaurant.

Food is absolutely fantastic! Even though the place was really busy, the service remained warm, passionate, and attentive. Truly one of the best restaurants I’ve visited in Rome (and this is already my third time here!). The Rigatoni All’amatriciana is a hidden gem—rich, flavorful, and bursting with the fragrance of fresh tomatoes.
Kuan T — Google review
Delicious food with tasty touch of Mt Vesuvius tomato and seasonal ingredients. My favorites were burrata, puntarella with anchovies sauce, lamb and the beef stripe in tomato sauce. The waitress was attentive even though it was very busy.
Phuong T — Google review
This restaurant is for locals. They don’t serve Chicken Alfredo or spaghetti and meatballs. If you want true local cuisine, which I what I wanted, come here. We had no reservation and they fit us in. I asked the staff to order for us because I wanted to taste true cuisine not tourist food. EVERYTHING was and will be an everlasting memory. I only have a few pictures because I totally forgot the last course.. lol

Vegans order Pasta E Ceci. And everyone else, order anything you want because there’s no way you will be disappointed. Glad to have found this place - filled with locals and relaxed vibe. Highly recommended!
Vishal C — Google review
Food was mediocre at best. Pasta even came out undercooked and I had to ask the waiter to bring me a new plate. By the time the new plate came out my wife had already finished her plate and had to watch me eat my second plate. Unfortunately the second plate was still a little bit undercooked but it was edible at least. The service was fine, nothing special to complain about. But at a nice restaurant I would expect some kind gesture to show that they were sorry about the first plate having an undercooked pasta. We sat outside, where floor was tilting quite a bit. A slight push on the table would make our glasses fall on the ground. The floor outside was fake grass making the outside feel very cheap. However, we were glad we had a seat outside, as the inside had a strong smell from the kitchen. Felt like the air inside wasn’t ventilated properly. We have had quite a hard time to find good authentic roman food in Rome, so maybe the already good score is relative to what is available in Rome overall. However, I feel like this really didn’t cut it for a restaurant in Rome. To mention a few positive things, the interior looked cozy inside, and the people working in the restaurant was nice. My wife thought her food was good but nothing spectacular. I ordered the carbonara and my wife ordered the ravioli.

Trattoria Da Cesare al Casaletto is a charming spot located in the residential Monteverde area of Rome. This trattoria embodies the true essence of Italian dining with its unpretentious atmosphere and authentic, carefully crafted dishes. Run by the husband-wife team of Leonardo Vignoli and Maria Pia Cicconi, this place offers a delightful array of Roman antipasti, homemade pastas, meat and fish dishes, complemented by a selection of local wines.
The food is Roman style and the quality of the food it’s good. maybe the place it’s a bit noisy and owner should fix the acoustic. But this is bearable. We had a nice evening between old school friend and the environment it’s ok for such occasion. It’s second time we come here and not dissatisfied

Soo good, we came for dinner on a recommendation and it was delicious! Book one week in advance via their website. Everything was so good; we had fresh homemade mozzarella, fried meatballs with pesto, carbonara and oxtail sauce pasta, and tiramisu and panna cotta for dessert! Highly recommend :)

We finally made it to Trattoria Da Cesare al Casaletto for a long-awaited Sunday lunch after dreaming about it for a year. This place is a true Roman institution, run like a well-oiled machine, with a lively, family-filled atmosphere that feels authentic and welcoming. The wine list is excellent—we especially loved our exquisite bottle of Etna Bianco. We enjoyed the supplì, squash blossoms, gricia, and ravioli, each dish showcasing the comforting flavors of Roman cooking. Watching families with babies gather around big Sunday meals added to the charm of the experience. Overall, a solid and memorable Roman lunch—classic, reliable, and full of energy.
Tanya C — Google review
Had a nice dinner here though my expectations were very high as the restaurant has excellent reviews, unfortunately I was a little let down. Actually it was rather nice to travel outside the city center, Cesare is extremely close to the final stop of the 8 tram and you get to see much more of the city and where people live coming here. Dinner started with a very nice basket of bread and we shared the eggplant croquettes and calamari fritti. The croquettes were interesting, with a nice spicy tomato sauce offset with mint. The calamari were outstanding, extremely well done. For our mains, I had the gnocchi with oxtail sugo which was really disappointing. The sauce was deep and delicious, and the gnocchi very well made however totally under salted. I wonder if they are used to salting this dish with pasta water when the rigatoni is selected? I needed to add cheese AND salt just to coax some flavor. I do like salty, though. My companions had Amitriciana and Gricia. Both were very good however an alarming amount of guanciale was used in the gricia and my companion said that is was too much and the balance of the dish was off because of it. We were a bit put off by the waiters constantly trying to remove our dishes. Like, fork still in hand and BOOM can I take your plate now? Then you have to wait 15 minutes for the bill haha. Well no one is perfect for sure. Overall it was a good experience and I’m happy we went and wish them many years of success!
Matthew P — Google review
Our main dishes of the evening were rigatoni alla Matriciana (that’s how it was spelled), gnocchi alla coda vaccinara and tonnarelli a la gricia. These were delicious with noted qualifications that the guanciale pieces with the tonnarelli were judged too large (!), the gnocchi were assessed under-salted while the coda vaccinara sauce seemed a little thin, and my serving of rigatoni was enormous (no complaint there). Read more at: https://www.painperdutravel.com It was a very successful evening and an excellent meal for 3 at only 81 euros.

The Heart of Roman Trattoria Dining Overall Rating: 4/5 Stars Stepping into Da Cesare al Casaletto felt like stepping into the quintessential Roman experience. This is more than just a restaurant; it is a living, breathing trattoria with a typical Roman spirit that envelops. The Authentic Experience: The menu is a showcase of typical Roman dishes—the classics like Cacio e Pepe, Amatriciana, Gricia are all executed to almost perfection. Every plate arrives hot, bursting with authentic flavor, and prepared with a dedication to tradition that will truly satisfy every palate. Adding to the wonderful authenticity, the staff is staff is nice, warm, attentive, and helpful. Wine & Verdict: Beyond the food, the wine list is excellent. It is extensive, thoughtfully curated, and focuses on quality, value, and artisanal/natural wines, offering great pairings for the hearty Roman cuisine. While one can certainly find more expensive restaurants of comparable food quality in Rome, Da Cesare al Casaletto offers a combination of authenticity, traditional food, an excellent wine selection. If you are in the area, this place indeed deserves a visit. It is a genuine taste of Rome that you will not forget. Assolutamente fantastico!

Wonderful ppace with great food and service. We had the pizza rossa, veal roll and seafood pasta, finished with the desert selection. Best food I've had in Rome. Very friendly staff, they made smaller portions of the fried gnocchi and beef croquettas for us to try; both well made.

AMAZING PASTA! extremely fresh! You have to make reservations in advance or hope someone doesn’t come to their reservation. It was so delicious we were able to get a table for dinner and booked a table for lunch the next day. The service was incredible and the atmosphere was too loud but loud enough to feel like your conversation was private. I highly recommend the stuffed pasta in butter sauce!!

Wow. We followed some reviews to see if they could sit us without a reservation. They did! The pumpkin ravioli, lasagna, and stuff pork chop…. Too good to describe. Wish we could’ve gotten the lemon meringue!

The best pasta restaurant in Rome. Hand made noodles and source too. Recipe is authentic like home made one. Better to reserve first or waiting in a line before opening time.

Very overrated place with bad ignorant service. I was served my dish while I was at the toilet washing my hands which weird for a Michelin place to say the least. Food was average (ravioli with spinach) while the desert was absolutely tasteless. You can definitely find better places with tasty Italian food and friendly service for third the price of the check in there.

Really a fantastic meal of homemade pasta. I am truly pleased with a place offering a small menu of a mix of seasonal and classic dishes with an emphasis on quality and flavor. This place was a triumph in these categories. To begin, our table share the appetizer sampler, a perfect selection of primarily cured meats from the Emilia-Romagna region. I then enjoyed the tagliatelle con porcini from the seasonal menu. The handmade pasta was absolutely divine: both airy and light but substantially rich to offer an incredibly satisfying chew. Zabaiolone for dessert, my mouth was singing an aria all the way home. You should definitely make a reservation if you can. If not, arrive 20min before they open and it is possible you will get a table. Many people in our line did (we had a reservation).

【This is not a place I would recommend】 While staying nearby, I happened to see an elderly person earnestly making pasta at the front of the restaurant and noticed people lining up outside. I thought, “This might be an authentic and popular place,” and decided to try it. It seemed to be a popular restaurant, and when I tried to make a same-day reservation, I was told that there was only one table available at 21:15, so I went at that time. Upon arrival, I was seated promptly, but the receptionist prioritized taking a phone call and didn’t even glance at me as I entered. My impression of “poor hospitality” started right then and there. As I feared, the worst part was the server at our table (a white man with black-rimmed glasses and a shaved head). Below are the unacceptable aspects of his service: 1. Since I was with a child, I asked about the portion sizes. His response was shockingly dismissive: “It’s one plate per person, right? How should I know if the amount is right for you?”—something no hospitality professional should ever say. 2. He refused to discuss the portions, so I decided to observe how my child was eating and planned to order another dish later. However, when I tried to place an additional order toward the end, he snapped, “You can’t order piecemeal like that—it’ll trouble the chef.” I was appalled that a mere floor staffer would prioritize the chef’s mood over the customer’s experience. If that’s the policy of the restaurant, it should be clearly stated in advance. If they don’t want à la carte orders, they should operate as course-only. 3. At checkout, I noticed the bill had the Amex logo, so I offered to pay with my American Express card. The waiter clicked his tongue in disapproval, went to fetch a separate terminal, and after completing the payment, flung the card back onto the table and left without a word. He didn’t even provide a receipt until I asked. I suspect this might violate Amex’s merchant agreement. I plan to report this incident and request an investigation or possible revocation of their merchant status. On the positive side, the tagliatelle with Bolognese sauce was excellent—so much so that my child even asked for seconds. The pasta was clearly handmade with care, and that point deserves praise. In summary, the chefs are diligent, but the service—especially the black-rimmed-glasses man who seems to be the floor manager—was absolutely terrible. If the restaurant prioritizes local regulars over first-time customers, they should clearly state so. If they refuse additional orders, they shouldn’t offer à la carte dining. In the near future, when robots handle service tasks, staff like this—who lack even the slightest hospitality—will be replaced. A server without a spirit of service has no reason to exist. His behavior made it clear that he is just going through the motions after years in the job. Lastly, I noticed the Michelin sticker on the door before entering and thought this might be a top-rated place. On closer inspection, it was from six years ago. After this experience, I clearly understand why they lost that honor. The food may be good, but the service ruins everything. The price felt excessive, and I walked away with deep disappointment.

We had lunch (tagliatelle con prosciutto e asparago, anatra con arance), dessert, and coffee. We happened to be seated where we could watch family members making pasta. The entire experience was wonderful: delicious food, excellent service, and a show. We were lucky to be able to just walk in, perhaps because it was for lunch and we were on the late side. Reservations recommended, and well in advance if for dinner.

All the pastas are made fresh in house. The pumpkin ravioli was so good! Thin fresh pastas go along with everything. Don’t miss out.

Felice a Testaccio is a renowned trattoria in Rome, known for its dedication to authentic Roman cuisine. Established in 1936, this old-school restaurant has become an institution in the neighborhood and beyond. One of its standout dishes is the cacio e pepe, which is prepared tableside by the waiter, adding to the dining experience.
This place was the vibe! Non touristy, large families/friends dining, having a laugh, the hosts/waiters all so sweet, helpful, welcoming and last but not the least, The food.. loved the pastas, the eggplant appetizer, the wine recommendations, the tiramisu (could have done without the chocolate sauce)everything was fantastic. Highly recommend to have a reservation for this place.

I went there with my family. The pasta and lamb are all fantastic - we enjoyed it from the beginning to the end. The portions are also good, though the service here are not very attentive. If you don’t care about service that much, and focus mostly on the food like me, I can definitely recommend this restaurant.

Our first night in to Rome and we could only get a 3 PM reservation, because of the time difference it was perfect. The food was exceptional. The staff made us feel right at home and I would say it was the best meal of the trip so far and we’ve had many. I would recommend this Restuarant to all my foodies five star. Make sure you get the pasta dish called casa de Pepe!!
Mark B — Google review
How were they able to make a simple mozzarella and prosciutto starter melt in your mouth like this? Unfussy, uncomplicated but oh so effective. We learned that Carbonara is a Roman dish, so we decided to order Felicé's and WOW!! Rich but palatable sauce, crispy bacon and al dente pasta - it was out of this world. The staff were great with English. They were effective and professional and it felt they had huge pride in the quality of their food. We dined here Wednesday 8th October at 19:00 hours on the terrace. They fired up the outside heaters for us and that kept us very comfortable all night. We enjoyed our time here so much we decided to have lunch here before our return journey to England. We turned up 15 minutes after opening time assuming it would be quiet (12:45) but it was already packed out and theu could just about squeeze us in. Highly recommended. The locals love it. We'd return but we do recommend you make a booking. Of our four restaurants we dined in during our 4 night stay in Rome, Felicé was our favourite.

Truly a destination for Roman pastas. Go for Cacio e Pepe and Carbonara. Excellent handmade tonarelli and very generous portions. Service can be improved but the food makes up for it. Do not miss the tiramisu, one of the best things they have.

I really didn’t like this place. Service was incredibly slow and kept forgetting our orders and we kept having to remind them over and over. Atmosphere was super loud like people were shouting constantly at the other tables, very uncivilised. The food was so mid, not worth the insanely expensive price. I just think a carbonara for more than 12 euros nowadays is insane.
Iris M — Google review
⭐ Overhyped and disappointing We went to Felice after hearing countless recommendations, but sadly, the experience did not live up to the hype. The only star goes to the sommelier, who gave us a good wine suggestion. Everything else was a letdown. It took 50 minutes before anyone even came to take our order. We tried waving, calling, waiting… nothing. It became awkward, three of us sitting there with our hands raised, clearly being ignored. When someone finally approached, they told us to wait for “the person with the tablet” and just walked away. No help offered. When the food came, things didn’t improve. The carbonara arrived slightly cold and 7 minutes before the other dishes. Then came two cacio e pepes that could not have been more different: one so peppery it was almost inedible, the other extremely dry. Anyone who knows this dish knows it’s all about balance, and that’s exactly what was missing here. They insist on finishing the cacio e pepe at the table, probably to look good on TikTok, but that completely ruins the sauce. If you want a show, pick another dish, not this one. At €19, it was the most expensive cacio e pepe I’ve had in Italy, and definitely not worth it. We decided to cut the dinner short, but even asking for the check turned into another test of patience. After being ignored again, we just went to pay at the counter. As we walked out, we saw staff already cleaning our table, honestly, it summed up the whole experience. ⚠️ Verdict: One star for the sommelier, everything else was chaos, confusion, and disappointment. Overrated and overpriced.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ By chance, our cab driver on the way to a morning tour recommended this place for “the best cacio e pepe in Rome”. But we’d already booked it for the same evening! Our choice was validated by his recommended and punctuated the second we arrived. Service was lovely, atmosphere/ambience was fantastic, and the place was packed, seemingly with locals, not tourists. Every dish hit high notes, and of course the cacio e pepe was the best we had while in Rome. We’ll definitely be back and highly recommend getting off the beaten path to try this place.

SantoPalato is a humble restaurant in Rome that offers local staples such as pasta, meat plates, and desserts. It is known for its innovative take on traditional Roman classics, blending the soul of a traditional trattoria with a touch of hipster flair. Chef Sara Cicolini leads the kitchen, showcasing Rome's storied quinto quarto cuisine with an offal-heavy menu alongside well-executed favorites like carbonara and amatriciana.
Best to make a reservation, even weekday lunch sittings are fully booked, but there is a social table with 8 seats for walk in diners. We arrived at 12:30 when it opened and got seats but many people were turned away. Food is elegantly prepared with new and traditional tastes. The pork neck was perfectly cooked and tender with a tasty crust. Simply delicious. Although a fan favorite, I found the oxtail meatball to be too heavy and salty. The accompanying sauce was thick and nutty, not a good match for such a dense dish. I wish they served it with a tangy sauce or some crunchy or fresh element. Service was brisk and attentive. Really nice staff. This is an excellent place to dine if you want to get away from the tourist traps in Rome, it’s not far from the Coleseum but requires an Uber ride.

A fresh and modern take on local cuisine, with a focus on simple but very high quality ingredients. Vegetable dishes were a highlight of the evening. Do not miss the Melanzana or Polpetta Cod alla Vaccinara. The Carbonara was rich and creamy with nicely crisp guanciale, though the pasta a little al dente for most people. For dessert the Tiramisu is nice but the Maritozzo wins. Service is fine, not overly friendly but nothing to complain about. Must book far in advance. Not necessarily mind blowing but worth trying once if you can get a table.

Absolutely fantastic! We tried the carbonara and it was incredibly creamy and perfectly made, one of the best we’ve ever had. They also had a great selection of local beers, which paired so well with the meal. Cozy place, delicious food, and a really nice atmosphere. We left full and happy!

I came here twice during my Rome stay and tried different plates. The quality is high and food is delicious overall. Unfortunately, the meat I got was quite chewy - you’d expect a bit better, I basically had to swallow the entire pieces as they just wouldn’t break up. All the other dishes were highly satisfying and reasonably priced. In particular, the salad with Barattiere cucumber and the carbonara were phenomenal.

We had a good feeling about this place before we even went in, but we were blown away by the food! The atmosphere inside is lively and fun, with nice decor. The special pasta we had (with goat ragu) was fantastic. The beef picanha was absolutely exquisite, 10/10. The beignet for dessert was also very special! Highly recommend. Wasn't too busy at opening time (7:30pm) but quickly filled up. Recommend booking.

A really wonderful experience. The delicious food is matched by the exceptionally warm front of house staff. Great wine list and by the glass choices. Pro tip : if you can’t get a reservation go early and try for the communal table. Worth it!!

Best Tiramisu we had, ever. We have tried plenty in Rome. I cannot recommend this place more. It is a bit outside the touristy spots in Rome, but it is so worth the trip. We ate the meatball, carbonara, and tiramisu and absolutely loved everything! The cocktail bar also looks very professional. The staff was super friendly and attentive. It's also really cool to watch the chefs cook behind the glass doors, and the amazing design overall inside the restaurants.

Ristorante La Tavernaccia Da Bruno is a cozy tavern that has been serving homestyle pasta and Roman meat dishes since 1968. The restaurant, now run by Bruno Persiani's daughters Patrizia and Paola, offers a hand-written menu featuring generous pasta dishes and delights from the wood-fired oven, including lamb, suckling pig, roast pork, and delicious house focaccia. It's recommended to make reservations well in advance as tables are often scarce, especially on Sundays.
Excellent dinner! I had the burrata, the side salad and the lasagna — and it was just A+, 11/10. If I lived in Rome I’d be a regular here; if I could give more than five stars, I would :) shoutout to Anna for her kind and attentive service. Hope to be back next time I’m here

Absolutely loved this restaurant. The staff were so helpful and took the time to explain the dishes to us. We had the suckling pig which was the nicest pork I've had. Desserts were homemade and well worth a try. Prices were very reasonable. You will need to book in advance if you want a guaranteed seat/team.

I only write reviews on places that people need to go to or completely avoid. This place, as you can tell by the stars, is a must go. The staff is multilingual and very kind. I felt comfortable using my limited Italian and they understood me when I couldn't. The food is excellent and well prepared. Everything is fresh and made to order. I can keep going on, but this is a review, not a novel. Come stay awhile in their welcoming Italian restaurant, and enjoy anything and everything on the menu. Don't forget the dessert wine. Saluti!

The servers were always smiley and willing to share recommendations and jokes with us. We ordered the bruschetta with artichokes, prosciutto, Cabonara, suckling pig. The above for 2 ppl, I guess it was not the usual portion but we went on to order 4 desserts. Best decision ever. Desserts were mainly made in house and it was SO GOOD. The chocolate cake was so decadent, lemon tart so basic yet fully brings out the flavour of the lemon without being overly sweet. The apple tart, subtle but not overly sweet. Best meal we had in Roma, most authentic Roman meal you can have. Try to ring them for reservation

We had a wonderful dinner at La Tavernaccia! We ordered a mix of cured meats and cheeses, Roman artichoke, eggplant parmigiana, roasted suckling pig, and the spaghettoni alla gricia. Every dish was delicious, but the spaghettoni stood out — rich, flavorful, and hands down the best pasta we had in Rome. The atmosphere was cozy and welcoming, and the service was attentive. Trattoria Da Enzo al 29 is a charming, family-run eatery tucked away in Trastevere, serving up traditional Roman dishes with a focus on exceptional ingredients. The restaurant has been in the hands of the di Felice family since the 1980s, and they continue to uphold its long-standing reputation for fantastic Roman cuisine.
Overall, the experience here was exceptional—it’s the kind of place I’d gladly wait in line for. Highly recommend! ⭐️ Had the opportunity to eat here while in Trastevere as part of an award-winning food tour, and it absolutely lived up to the hype 👏 When our group arrived around 7:30 p.m., the line was already a few blocks long, which made sense once we saw what came out of the kitchen 👀 We were lucky enough to bypass the wait as part of the tour, but if visiting on your own, come prepared. During the busy tourist season (July through September), we noticed people waiting with portable fans, water bottles, and even to-go cocktails—pro tips I’d recommend for anyone braving the line 💪 The highlight for me was the burrata, and it was nothing short of incredible. For anyone unfamiliar, burrata is a fresh Italian cheese made from mozzarella and cream—the outer shell is solid mozzarella, while the inside is filled with stracciatella and cream, giving it a luscious, buttery texture that practically melts in your mouth 🤤 Growing up in Iowa, I’ve always been a cheese lover (the kind of person who ate shredded cheese straight from the bag), but I also know some European cheeses can be an acquired taste for me. Even my husband—who usually doesn’t enjoy eating cheese on its own—was savoring every bite. That’s how good it was: fresh, rich, and balanced 👌 We also tried the fried cod croquettes, which were golden and crispy on the outside with tender, flavorful fish inside 🐠 I didn’t finish mine since fried breading isn’t always my preference, but others in our group went back for seconds, which speaks to how well they were prepared. Paired with the crisp, light prosecco flowing freely during the tasting, it was the perfect start to the evening 🍾 From what I gathered, they also have an impressive wine selection and a menu full of classic Roman dishes at prices that seem surprisingly reasonable given the quality and popularity 💥 What really put the experience over the top, though, was the service. Despite the rush and the never-ending line outside, the staff were warm, welcoming, and attentive. They took time with each table, explained the dishes, and made us feel like valued guests rather than just part of the crowd ☺️

A must if you are not from Rome. No reservations, therefore I suggest to come from 40 to 1 hour before it opens. We waited 40 mins but it was worthy! One of the most traditional restaurants I’ve tried (I am Italian) with my wife (Dutch). We both loved it. Don’t miss the Tiramisu, it is delicious! For two people, one appetizer, two main plates and dessert, around 30€ per person. More than fair! I recommend this place.

This is was our best meal in Rome. The wait IS worth it. The staff makes you feel like you’re at home. Antonio brought a chair out for my mom to sit while we waited. Roberto opened up the priceless Bianca Parmigiano Reggiano for the restaurant to taste. Our waiter brought us a sample of an appetizer to try. It’s a very special place.

Trattoria Da Enzo is justifiably famous for their excellent pasta carbonara, traditional Roman ambiance and history. The queueing is unavoidable and part of the experience. Arrive before they open at around 5.30pm to start queuing and you will likely wait around an hour. Being able to have drinks whilst in the queue is a nice touch! This is not the best carbonara I've ever had in 30+ years of coming to Rome almost every year, but it's very very good. The quality of the guanciale used is especially impressive and it is always cooked perfectly. The bread basket is an additional €2 which is to be expected at a restaurant that is now quite touristy but the quality of the bread is decent. The tiramisu is very good, and the coffee is, too. Just beware that they only do small, strong coffees, no cappuccinos or lattes.
Jules D — Google review
Take this for what it is a classic Italian Trattoria! It’s busy, crowded and full of joy! Food is some of the best we have ever had. All from scratch excellent fresh ingredients from their own farms. Tiny tables, stand in line up and have a spritz while you wait!
Marylou C — Google review
This was one of our best meals in Rome, with the perfect pasta and choice of courses. The staff was very kind starting from us joining the queue. Waiting time was less than 10 minutes shortly after 2 PM before afternoon closing. The cuisine was simply perfect and enjoyed good house wine crowning with the best tiramisu of our trip. This will be my best recommendation for friends and family traveling to Rome.

Amazing! Loved the food! We got the bread with balsamic and the fried artichoke! We also got the carbonara and the amatriciana. The pasta was fresh and the sauces were so flavorful! We visited this popular restaurant in Rome and we loved it. It's not easy to book a table, but when we arrived they straight away accommodated us. Our waiter was great explaining all the specials of the day and the menu options too. The food was really good and the atmosphere was amazing. Originally joined a queue for another restaurant nearby but decided to try here instead. We were seated straight away when it opened and the restaurant quickly filled up. We were in Trastevere for Antico Forno Sentini and their pastries, but it was lunchtime so we decided to eat at this wonderful restaurant. They have tables on a litle nice square, quiet and very cozy. The food was very good and tasty (we took pasta of the day - fettuccine funghi & spaghetti galletti and as starters, we had fried anchovies). The food served to the other guests also looked very tempting: pasta vongole, mussels, carbonara, tiramisu...I would have liked to taste everything 😍 The service was very friendly and helpful, especially Dario, who was joking and charming us while he took care of us and the other customers. We definitely come back next time we'll be in Rom.😍🥰😍

Trattoria Da Teo – Trastevere, Rome If heaven serves pasta, it probably looks like Da Teo. We kicked things off with the bruschetta and porcini mushrooms — both absolute flavor bombs that should come with a warning label for being addictive. For mains, we had a carbonara and a spaghetti with wild boar. I don’t even remember speaking after the first bite — just silent, happy nods across the table. Hands down the best pasta we’ve ever had, anywhere. Then came the tiramisu, which ruined every future tiramisu we’ll ever try. It’s not dessert, it’s a life event. And our waiter, Nicolino — a walking Italian movie character. Big personality, full of jokes, and just the right amount of sarcasm. Easily the best waiter we’ve ever had. We’re literally going back tonight. Because moderation is for people who haven’t eaten at Da Teo.

Not a rip off. Traditional fare prepared with care. Seasonal items [now Fall](truffle and mushroom) available off menu on request (truffles being more expensive than their usual options ofc). Waiters can provide expert assistance with wine request both by the glass and bottle. All at reasonable prices.

We know that this famous restaurant opens at 7:30 pm for dinner, but it would have been nice to give some consideration to customers like us who were waiting outside in the rain. They started accepting customers at 7:40 pm, so it was quite stressful despite having a reservation already. We were among the very first to arrive, and when we asked to be seated inside, the female staff sternly told us we can't choose our table and we HAVE to sit outside. When we were seated, we could see and hear other waiters and customers arguing because of the waiting line. The atmosphere, coupled with rain, was uncomfortable and awkward. Despite the rough start, we still had a splendid meal--a generous portion of bread and salad, the best carbonara we've had so far in Rome, and fall-off-the-bones chicken with peppers cooked in a savory tomato sauce. I could understand why this was highly recommended by travel guides. The dishes would have been enough to compensate the negative start, but the overall experience was marred, by yet again, the service. We were served complementary dessert biscuits, which was nice, but we were asked to leave a tip, to which we were caught by surprise. Tipping has never been common in Italy, and we've never experienced it until now. Being requested for tips left a bad after-taste of what could have been a great dining experience in Trastevere.

We had an extremely disappointing experience at this restaurant tonight. We walked in as a group and stood at the entrance for several minutes. Despite staff walking past, not a single person acknowledged our presence, greeted us, or even made eye contact. It was as if we were invisible. Finally, we managed to stop a waiter. Instead of helping us himself, he pointed to a lady manager and told us to ask her. We did exactly that. We approached her and asked if we could get a table. Her response was nothing but a cold, blunt "No." No smile, no apology, no explanation. When we pressed further and asked why we couldn't be seated, another staff member simply said, "Reservation only," in a similarly dismissive tone. The restaurant was half empty with plenty of available tables, yet they made no effort to accommodate us. The complete lack of basic hospitality, customer service, and common courtesy was shocking. The way we were treated made us feel utterly disrespected and unwelcome. You can have the best food in the world, but if you treat potential customers like this, you don't deserve their business. We will never return and would advise others to book elsewhere unless you enjoy being treated with indifference.

We ordered Carbonara and Chicken and Pepper which are very good. The carbonara was creamy and the chicken was tender and tasty. It was like being served by an Italian nonna. Reservation is highly recommended. The experience would have been very good but they open quite late at 7:30 pm, much later than most Italian places. They also need to improve how to prepare and serve waiting customers in a rainy weather. Their service is a bit sour and would most likely dampen the mood. It also surprised me that they're quite aggressive on asking for tips, something that I haven't experienced in an Italian business before. I find this unpleasant because food places are already charging for coperto. Food is delicious, but the service is poor.

Trattoria Vecchia Roma is a charming trattoria and pizzeria that has been serving up Roman specialties since 1916. The restaurant's traditional decor, with burgundy walls adorned with frescoes and bare-brick arches, creates an intimate and classic atmosphere for diners. One of the unique dining experiences offered at Trattoria Vecchia Roma is the opportunity to have pasta flambeed in a giant Parmesan wheel.
We went here on our last night in Rome, and couldn’t have ended our stay in a better way! The food, service and atmosphere were all great I wish I could go back. Service was quick, as there was plenty of staff staying on top of dishes being removed and bringing food quickly. This was a big deal for us as parents with a toddler who likes to play around with everything on the table. But for the food, we had the Italia pizza and cod nuggets as a starter, which I am still thinking about! The mushroom ravioli and spaghetti I would highly recommend.

Had to wait a couple of minutes for a table but that is probably a positive. Atmosphere is excellent, same for the food. Had the bucatini Amatriciana, the smokiness of the dish was probably suited to a colder night but the dish was perfect. Same for the humble roasted potatoes. The staff were attentive and fast even during an amazingly busy service. Had the White House wine that was also very good. Would definitely visit again.

This restaurant is definitely an internet celebrity. If you don't make a reservation in advance, you will never be able to have a comfortable dinner under normal circumstances. Even though I made a reservation, I still had to wait at the door for about 15 minutes. Walk-in customers have to wait at least two to three hours. If you come here because of its fame, you have to be mentally prepared. When it comes to food, it offers some special dishes that are different from traditional Italian cuisine. I especially recommend its fried appetizers, and the pasta taste is not very outstanding. I also recommend its red wine oxtail, which is worthy of praise and a must-try.

We had such a great night at Trattoria Vecchia Roma — definitely one of our favorite meals in Italy! We ordered a few classic Italian dishes: a Napoli pizza with mozzarella and anchovies, Spaghetti alla Carbonara con Tartufo (with eggs, bacon, and pecorino cheese), and an artichoke salad that our waitress recommended. We also had a bottle of Acqua Nepi sparkling water to go with everything. Luckily, we made a reservation ahead of time, so we got seated quickly. The line outside was already pretty long before the restaurant even opened! The vibe inside was cozy and lively, and the staff were super friendly and efficient. We even got to chat with the manager or owner at the cashier — he was really welcoming and kind. We left the restaurant feeling full and happy. It was such a great experience, and we’d totally recommend it to anyone visiting Rome. We’d love to come back next time we’re in town!

Was last here 6 years ago n now I’d returned! Chanced upon this place by accident then n never forgotten how good their pasta was. In those days we didn’t rely too much on social media reviews but I strongly recommend this place as their pasta was really top notch. Still busy as before but it is worse now🤪. Had booked this months ahead when I did my booking for Rome. Reasonable price with good quality of food. What more to ask for? My advice is to book online in advance.

Wait staff moves with speed and efficiency. Not a place to linger at your table as they are very busy during peak dinner hours and in need of quick turn over of the tables. Cacio e pepe was full of flavor and pasta was perfectly cooked. Cabonara was also well prepared but was a bit too heavy for me (flavor of pork fat was too much). Bruschetta was a favorite. Carciofi all Giudia was delish. The tiramisu and Saltimbocca were... meh... At the end of the day, would recommend a try.

We went spontaneous for my birthday because I read some good reviews. And let me tell you: it was totally worth the waiting time. The food was spectacular, the service fast and friendly and the prices really fair. Thank you so much for the nice evening!

Pasta was very good though too salty. Prices are good and portions are big. The place is very cozy with a traditional look and all the traditional dishes. We made a reservation for lunchtime since often the olace seemed busy from the outside but it wasn't very crowded actually, though the service was a bit slow and we struggled to get the attention of our waitress.

Lo Scopettaro is a venerable trattoria in Rome, offering classic Roman recipes such as pasta and pizza, along with a selection of Italian wines. Established in 1930, it originated as a broom shop but quickly transformed into a trattoria when the owner's wife prepared a delicious pasta dish that attracted numerous guests.
This was a real “hidden” gem! It is not very well known and recommended by an Italian, but it is close to Trastevere on foot. We went for dinner and tried a few of their pastas, a chicken, and, of course, some dessert! The restaurant was busy, mainly Italians, which is a good sign, and everything we had was delightful! We had a lovely dinner, but our waiter didn't speak English; I would communicate in Spanish, and he would reply in Italian 😂 it made for some pleasant interactions, and we left with our hearts (and tummy) full❤️

If I could give this restaurant a higher rating, I would. From the service to the food, the entire experience was lovely. This is the ideal Roman restaurant to wind down a day with a hearty meal and a delicious dessert. Do not hesitate to visit!

This place is hands down the best carbonara you will ever have! Service was great, menus had some English translation. My husband and I were recommended to try this place out for the carbonara and let me tell you it was perfection! We also had the homemade meatballs that were some of the most tenderest meatballs we have ever had! Place does book quickly so be sure to reserve ahead or eat earlier than the Italians!

What a fantastic restaurant, with helpful staff who were more than happy to advise on traditional dishes, and accommodate us without reservation (it was busy!). We had dinner here twice in the week we were in Rome. Cacio e pepe, bruschetta, tiramisu, melanzane, and pajata (proper classic!). Nice house red wine, and relaxed atmosphere. We ate both outside and in the dining room downstairs. Would love to go back!

An unique Roman food experience. I tried their appetizers and first courses. I highly recommend to try their Carbonara it's excellent! The place is not so big and could be difficult to talk if there's too many people but the experience is overall good. Suggested

Yummy pastas - both the cacio e Pepe and the carbonara were quite good, and we really liked the artichoke romana. Servers are really friendly and nice though service is a bit slow, so would recommend if you have time for a leisure lunch. Definitely recommend for the food!

Trecca - Roma is a modern osteria that captures the essence of a young Roman restaurant with its spacious and inviting ambiance. The interior features traditional elements such as brown-tiled checkered floors, pendant lighting, marble-topped tables, and an ancient Roman terracotta sink.
Excellent Roman dishes. More interesting that standard fare. Great wine options.further out of the city but well worth the trip. An easy bus ride to the area. The main wait staff was excellent.

Hands down one of the best restaurants in Rome. It’s a bit off the beaten path which is great as you’re away from the tourist crowds (not that tourists are not welcome here!) and is a lot more peaceful. Website makes reservations quite accessible and you don’t have to stress about waiting in a queue for hours. The servers were great with excellent wine recommendations and were genuinely friendly. Everything we ordered was delicious and we would have easily come back for more if we were staying longer.

Wanted to come here since watching "Remarkable places to eat" a couple of years ago. Two of us dined for lunch while in Rome. Our appetisers and pasta dishes were very good and the Zabione desert tasted great, but the main dish of lamb was very disappointing. There was very little meat, it was mostly bone and fat. We left underwhelmed and disappointed considering the high price of our lunch.

The food was so so so delicious. We had lamb meatballs, chicken liver ragout pasta, and cabbage and potato gratin. The atmosphere was very welcoming, local spot, not many tourists, and a lovely staff. Their wine recommendation was also a perfect pairing with our food.

Amazing local spot, their pastas were amazing (Amatriciana, alla Gricoa). Loved their tomato sauce, so rich and flavorful. Trip was done very well in red sauce. Solid service, nice selection of natural wines too.

We were very lucky to have been seated at the “bar” spot right in front of the prep kitchen space. The owner greeted is and served us delicious clean natural wines all evening. The best al’amatriciana ive had in Rome hands down. The beef tripe dish is to die for, everything is extremely well made and very fair price for the quality. 10/10.

just a 15 min car ride outside of the city center is Trattoria Trecca, a restaurant I found after reading many food bloggers reviews, of the most to restaurants in Rome. If Rome wasnt magical enough, coming to Trecca felt like being invited to a Romans home to eat the dishes his grandma cooked, nothing pretentious, nothing fancy, just good Italian food. Diego made us feel like we were in his house, suggesting dishes, telling us about his favorite wine and giving us the best options to enjoy. Seeing us happy you can see how that made him happy and that connection for us was really special. You dont get to experience this anymore anywhere you go, people that love their work and want to share their food traditions with others. The starters of tomato and potato , simple but so delish at the same time, the pasta w mushrooms and olive oil was just like I envision a Nona making it, the bread was spectacular, the chicken, the meat fell of the bone effortlessly and the Pannacotta w caramel and Tiramisu were so fresh and the right amount of flavors. We left happy not only because of the food but because of the amazing service Diego gave us, the place itself is cozy and worth the trip.

Nonna Betta, located in Via del Portico d'Ottavia, is a classic Roman-Jewish restaurant with an elegant ambiance adorned with 19th-century ghetto scenes frescoes. The owner, Umberto, who is the grandson of nonna Betta, takes pride in preserving the ancient tradition of Roman-Jewish cuisine. The menu features typical dishes alongside Middle Eastern additions like falafel and hummus contributed by his business partner Gamil.
⸻ This restaurant was a wonderful experience from start to finish. The staff was warm and welcoming, creating a friendly and inviting atmosphere. The food was absolutely delicious, with each dish thoughtfully prepared and full of flavor. We were fortunate to have beautiful weather, which made dining outdoors especially enjoyable. If you’re in the area, I highly recommend stopping by — it’s a fantastic spot for a great meal and a relaxed, pleasant outing.

I got the artichoke and the lamb ribs. The food came very quickly. The artichoke was really good I loved it. The ribs were okay, they needed more seasoning but they were not bad, and they were expensive. Overall, The place is clean and the staff is nice.

This place is such a gem. Had a selection of appetizers and gricia. Hands down the best fried artichokes I ever tried in Rome. Extra points for the homemade pasta, which was not on my bingo card - and was delicious. Can’t recommend more!

Okay, it’s a little crazy. That’s because they are so busy, and THAT’S because the food is incredible. Every dish was amazing, every mouthful a new delight. Their carciofo alla gudía is the best I’ve ever had. Yes, it’s noisy. Who cares? Not to be missed.
Robin R — Google review
First of all, don't be fooled if it's important to you, it is not a Kosher restaurant. It says "Kosher" style. Anyway... The food was meh... Tuna was fresh but very much over seasoned. Falafel were densed and heavy, far from being the "best" as advertised. Humous was also not up to the standard of a middle eastern restaurant. The carbonara Zucchini was a disaster, it was more like scrambled eggs pasta . Artichoke was fine but maybe has lost its way since Anthony Bourdain visited years ago. Overall a disappointing experience.

La Pergola is a renowned luxury restaurant located on the rooftop of a hotel, offering breathtaking panoramic views of the city. It is the only three Michelin-starred restaurant in Rome, known for its gourmet Italian cuisine and an extensive wine collection with over 70,000 cellar-stored wines. Reservations are highly sought after and require advanced planning due to its popularity. The ambience is described as laid back despite its prestigious reputation, and there is a dress code for men.
Here’s what you need to know: outstanding meal and worthy of the 3 stars. Ambiance is unparalleled with the rooftop looking over all of Rome The most memorable and jaw droppingly brilliant dishes were the red shrimp, the veal, and the zucchini flower with saffron and caviar. No mediocre courses - no mistakes in execution. Incredible service by Simone. Chef Heinz took the time to come out to each table and warmly Greet them - such dedication after decades of success. Core Food memory for us now, after 15 3X Michelin star meals and dozens of other Michelin starred meals. The elegance place settings are another lovely contribution to the meal. Our meal was $1200 for 2 guests.

Anyone who rates this restaurant less than five stars doesn’t know what they’re talking about. It’s expensive, but you know that before you arrive. I’ve been to more than a dozen Michelin three star restaurants all over the world. This rates in the top five. The food is mine – blowing. The people are not stuffy. My only criticism would be the decor. It needs an update. Otherwise, perfection. And, if you are booked out 90 days in advance, why change anything?
Scott L — Google review
My wife and I were incredibly fortunate to secure a reservation at La Pergola after days immersed in the breathtaking works of Da Vinci, Raphael, and other masters. What awaited us at dinner was nothing short of a masterpiece of its own—crafted by the brilliant Heinz Beck. Every aspect—the food, the atmosphere, the service—beautifully affirmed the honor of the restaurant’s Three Michelin Stars. Each dish was a revelation, not just in taste but in meaning, as we were lucky enough to learn the inspiration behind several of them. The layers of flavor, the precision, the harmony of textures—it was all deeply moving. This was more than a meal; it was an experience that stirred the soul. We would return to Rome just to dine at La Pergola again.

Dining at La Pergola is an unforgettable experience. The view overlooking Rome alone is worth the visit, but the experience just keeps getting better from there. The staff is efficient and super friendly, making you feel right at home while still being incredibly attentive. The food is just amazing. I have to mention the burnt wheat tagliolini with rabbit and peppers. This wasn’t even on the menu, but it was a total masterpiece. The flavors were so unique and perfectly done, it’s honestly unforgettable. Yes, it’s on the pricey side, but that’s expected, and it’s clear why this place has three Michelin stars. It really delivers on every level. If you're ever in Rome and looking for a special dining experience, La Pergola is absolutely worth it!

The menu features classic Roman dishes such as bucatini all'amatriciana and carbonara, along with seafood and pizza options.
The food was awesome! We came here because some Italian folks told us to. The carbonara was a perfect 10, and the steak had amazing flavor. Definitely recommend it!

Lovely local spot, I think has great potential! The portions are overly generous so I wish we would have split a plate. I asked to take away my pasta but the lovely nonna forgot, my husband’s pasta was a little too al dente as well. Perhaps we came during a busy evening, but would give it a go again.

Combine tradition with quality and you get to the secret of Da Buccatino. Of course you have to try their name-giving dish Buccatini Amatriciana, but all other dushes we tried were equally good. We had dinner here recently. The food was good—though I was a little surprised that my pasta dish only came with a single prawn. Perhaps that’s just how it’s served, but it felt a bit underwhelming. One thing that stood out was the service. We weren’t offered the complimentary bread that I noticed was given to other tables. Additionally, we were charged a service fee for three people, including my infant daughter who was asleep throughout the entire meal and server didn'teven care to provide baby chair . I did request to have the extra €2 charge removed, which was done, but it left me with the impression that the server wasn’t particularly interested in providing good service or making the experience pleasant. It’s a shame, because the food had potential—but the service definitely affected the overall experience.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Authentic Roman Food – A True Local Gem! I consider myself a food connoisseur, and I’ve dined in some of the best restaurants around the world – but Da Bucatino truly surpasses everything I have ever tasted. This is not a tourist spot – this is where Italians themselves come to eat, which says it all. The food is as authentic as it gets, straight from the heart of Rome. We enjoyed several classics, and each one was unforgettable: • Cozze alla marinara – Fresh mussels with the perfect balance of garlic and herbs. • Spaghetti al pomodoro – A simple dish elevated to perfection: al dente pasta, fresh tomato sauce, basil, and Parmigiano. • Risotto alla crema di scampi – Creamy, rich, and infused with the sweetness of fresh scampi. • Carciofi alla Romana – Tender, flavorful artichoke seasoned beautifully with olive oil and herbs. • Scampi alla griglia – Smoky, perfectly grilled, and finished with fresh lemon. The atmosphere makes the experience complete: authentic, warm, and family-style. You can feel the love for Roman tradition in every detail, and the service is just as genuine as the food. If you want the true taste of Rome, where Italians themselves come to eat, Da Bucatino is an absolute must. This is not just dinner – it’s a Roman experience that leaves a mark.

LUCIANO Cucina Italiana in Rome is a charming bistro-style restaurant located near Campo de' Fiori. The restaurant offers small, simple, and informal dining rooms as well as outdoor seating in a delightful small piazza.
I’m not sure why LUCIANO Cucina Italiana has such a low Google rating, because for us, it was one of the best meals of our entire trip in Italy. If we had skipped this place, it would’ve been a real regret. We ordered their signature Carbonara and the Pasta of the Day, and both dishes were outstanding. The Carbonara was unlike any version I’ve had before — at first, the flavor felt mild and subtle, but once combined with the guanciale, it transformed into something deeply rich and memorable. The texture of the pasta was perfect, and the balance of the sauce was exceptional. It’s easily one of the few dishes from this trip that I genuinely want to have again. The staff initially seemed a bit distant, but once I mentioned that I came after seeing a Korean YouTuber’s video about the restaurant, they became very warm and cheerful, sharing a few laughs with us. Overall, LUCIANO Cucina Italiana offered an impressive mix of refined flavors, genuine Roman character, and friendly service. It’s a restaurant I would definitely return to on my next visit to Rome.

Just wow, these pastas were among the best during our trip to Rome and so were the rest of the dinner as well. I was so impressed I went there for lunch one day and dinner the next. The service was great the first time when it was a bit slower and not as many people, the helped a lot with both recommendations and opinions on wine. The second time there were more people and more stressful for the servers. I would recommend anyone to go there and try their food, it is worth the higher prices.

Nice place for some good pasta. My wife had heard that their carbonara is among the best in Rome, so we decided to give it a try. We were seated quickly, but unfortunately waited about 20–30 minutes before anyone came to take our order. When the waiter finally arrived and asked, “Are you ready?”, I couldn’t help but laugh — we’d been ready for quite a while! 😅 That little hiccup aside, the staff were friendly and the service improved afterwards. The food was good — tasty and well presented, but not particularly exceptional. Would I come back? Not sure. It’s a nice spot overall, but there are so many great options in Rome that I’d probably try somewhere new next time.

I’ve been a loyal customer of Luciano’s for four years and always bring my visitors here for the carbonara. It deserves far more than its current rating, as the food is consistently excellent. While some may find it pricier than the usual €10-12 versions, the quality and generous amount of real guanciale (not pancetta) make all the difference. In my opinion, this is one of the best carbonaras in Rome, executed to perfection every single time.
Flavia G — Google review
We managed to get a table as a walk in, however it is probably better to reserve as it’s a very popular spot! We were seated at the pass so we had a great view of the chefs at work. The carbonara was delicious, the best pasta of our trip! We also had tiramisu that was great and a clever chocolate disc in the middle. This was a lovely stop in a hectic day in Rome!

This place just do good execution of the carbonara pasta. The rest is just ok. We arrived with reservation, the place has a cocktail bar. We decide to get a cocktail. The negroni was ok, the limoncello spritz wasn't good. We ordered the tartar with truffles, the tartar was good but the truffles were not doing anything on the dish, not sure if the truffle was old, no aroma, no flavour. Wasn't bad, but 20€ for an entree with truffles I would expecting more. Then the star of the night, the carbonara. Is incredible. Good creamy, amazing taste, nice amount of guanciale. This is worth it every cent. My recommendation, go there for the carbonara. No need to order anything else. Luciano is a genius of the pasta. But the rest of the menu seemed nothing especial and after check the reviews and taste it. Is overpriced for all the other items, but the carbonara is worth it.

We just had a wonderful experience at Matricianella as a group of 10. I made the reservation a few weeks before we were visiting Rome. We were seated in their private room which is inside the underground wine cellar so quite a unique and special experience. Due to our group size we were offered a set menu which consisted of starter, first course, second course, desert, coffee & waters. The food was excellent, my favourite being the veal saltimbocca. (Second course) The selection of wine was amazing, something delicious for all budgets and tastes. The staff were fantastic, incredibly friendly and attentive. Overall, I’d highly recommend Matricianella and I will absolutely dine there again should I be in Rome.

Very disappointed by this highly rated restaurant. Unlike most restaurants in Rome, the service was very rushed. We sat down, ate, and left within 1 hour. Asked the waiter which veal dish to order and he recommended the arrosto di vitella con patate (roast veal with potatoes). It was extremely bland. The cacio e pepe was pretty thick and much better elsewhere as were the fried zucchini flowers. The fried artichoke was very good.

I will give this restaurant a 1 star. Our experience was not pleasant. I made a reservation 2 weeks ago and they put us at the worst table of the restaurant. We asked for another one and were told it was taken.. the reservation never came. Apparently because they just wanted to avoid giving it to us. The service was zero. Only one guy named Hamza (I think) was helpful. The food was average. There are better options to go to.

We stopped by and asked if we could make a reservation for the same evening which they promptly did. We came by the scheduled time and the host was very kind and led us to our table. Julio was our server and he was awesome. Glass of white wine and a perfect Negroni and we had the fried artichoke and the Bresaola rughetta with parmigiano for appetizers. Main with a bottle of Montalcino red wine and we had the most delicious gnocchi ever and the pasta with funghi. What a wonderful evening!

They refused me twice due to capacity, but the one experience I had there was amazing! Pasta with bacon, cheese and pistachio sauce! One of the best pasta I ever had. It is possible to pay by card, but there are no towels on toilet.

A nice restaurant with upstairs and downstairs table cloth tables that are intimately spaced. The establishment has been visited by several well known celebrities. The owner/manager was not as friendly as the waiting staff. The fried lamb was unusually breaded and not tasty like lamb typically is served. The Carbonara is highly recommended as some of the best you can experience. The Tiramisu is moderately good and too creamy. The atmosphere is decorated with pictures of actors and sport celebrities that have attended in the distant past. Dishes are reasonably priced and valued. If there are 4-6 in your party you will eat upstairs and 3 or less you will likely eat downstairs in the basement with no natural lighting.

Overall, if you’re looking for an off the beaten track feel of a place not far from the Colosseum, you found it here. Great starter meal in Rome but not a note to finish on. We had the carbonara which had a nice flavor but no hand made noodles. The oxtail was good but was not fork tender the sauce had great flavors. Felt like they put the tourists in the basement with no AC will upstairs was filled with locals nicely chilled 😩

Very popular with locals. We were lucky to score a table without a reservation. Carbonara is one of the best in Rome, if not the best. I'd recommend just going with the house wine.

Our first night in Rome we had the pleasure of visiting Da Danilo! It was recommended by a friend who is a Roman native and it didn’t disappoint. The zucchini flowers were recommended by the staff and they were so flavourful! I thoroughly enjoyed the carbonara, it was one of the best I’ve ever tasted and I don’t think it will ever be beaten! I wish we could have gone for a second time but I will be back 100% the next time I visit Rome! We arrived 5-10 mins before opening so we’re very lucky to get a great table without a reservation. You won’t ever regret eating at Da Danilo!

One of the best restaurants we visited during our journey through Italy. It was crowded with locals and we weren't sure if the staff was quite happy to have us, since tourism in Rome can be annoying. Yet, they were welcoming and brought us excellent food for reasonable prices.

Best carbonara. This Restoraunt been selected one out of 4 others Restoraunt in Rome for best carbonara competition. It means a lot!!!We were brought to this place by our roman friends and their love to carbonara pasta. We had an amazing lunch. We had tried toasted ox tail , mozzarella with grilled artichoke, and lamp chops. Service was very good and also on top. I would highly recommend this place for truly carbonara pasta and good ,tasty meat.

Great food, greater selection of wines, and even greater atmosphere (we were downstairs). But the service was absolutely the best. Andrea advised us with everything, so we tried fantastic local wine, cheese and sausage antipasti and traditional pasta. What a great evening!

Trattoria Pennestri is a charming eatery that offers a modern twist on traditional Roman cuisine in a relaxed setting. The restaurant is known for its meticulous approach to sourcing high-quality ingredients, such as rigatoni from Lagano pasta factory, Pecorino Romano Dop Deroma, and eggs from free-range hens at Peppovo farm.
The food was amazing!! We got the ham and cheese board and a bread salad for starters and they were so tasty and delicious. First course I got pici with mushrooms and for the second course I got the cod. Of course could not miss out on the chocolate mousse for dessert! Everything was very delicious and exquisite!

Had lunch outside and everything was fantastic. We were 4 adults and 2 young kids. We were served fast and friendly. The menu has a lot of great classics and interesting flavors. Pasta cooked to perfection, nice and balanced flavor. We loved the bread! And polpette are approved! Dessert was also delicious. Recommend!

Wow! One of the best trattoria's I've experienced in Rome. Very unassuming from the outside but beautifully decorated, a wonderful staff and some of the best food I've had in all of my years in Rome. Simple but effective. They have a expansice wine collection as well as amaro's. I had the carbonara, and meatballs after, both cooked to perfection. I visited during lunch and it filled up quickly so maybe a reservation is needed in the evening. I highly recommend dining here!

Trattoria Pennestri was one of the true highlights of my time in Rome. Tucked away in the Ostiense neighborhood, this place blends a warm, relaxed atmosphere with serious culinary skill. It absolutely delivers on both. I came here for pasta, and I wasn’t disappointed. Every dish I tried was flawless: pasta perfectly al dente, sauces rich and deeply flavorful without feeling heavy. The carbonara in particular was unforgettable: creamy, balanced, and exactly what Roman comfort food should be. By the end of the meal, I was already wishing I had time to come back before leaving the city. It’s no surprise they’ve earned a Bib Gourmand from the Michelin Guide. You can taste the thoughtfulness in every bite, and the service matches it: warm, attentive, and never rushed. Trattoria Pennestri is the kind of place that makes you feel like you’ve uncovered a local treasure, and for me, it’s an easy five stars.

A must try place in Rome! Lovely atmosphere & staff: we had an outstanding starter, a fresh rabbit & vegetable salad, accompanied by the duck and the melt-in-your-mouth saltimboca! Highly recommend it, but make sure to book in advance as the place lives up to its name & reviews!

Solid restaurant in Ostiense! Love that it's not in a touristy area. We were able to walk in without a reservation for lunch, but I'm not sure if that's the case for dinner. Their Amatriciana is incredible. I don't know how they do it but the guanciale was perfectly cooked - SO crispy on the outside and very tender inside. Apparently their chocolate mousse is also one of the best in the city. We didn't know this at the time and got their tiramisu instead, but it was delicious.

Piatto Romano is a charming Roman restaurant located in the heart of Testaccio, offering a delightful dining experience. It stands out for its smaller and more understated ambiance compared to its prestigious neighbors. The menu features meaty pasta dishes, beautifully prepared vegetables, and traditional Roman classics like carbonara and cacio e pepe. One of its highlights is the flavorful ragu di pecora (sheep ragu).
Best pasta we've had in Rome. The spaghetti amtriciana is out of this world - MUST TRY. The lamb chops are also excellent. The wild leaves salad had really interesting and fresh flavors. The dessert was white chocolate with wild strawberries and red pepper flakes. Didn't think it would be up our alley but I would absolutely get it again.

My favorite place in Rome for traditional yet unique food, great place to try something new! The lamb coratella and pork liver wrapped in caul fat were incredible, truly memorable. Don't let the fact that they are organs scare you away. The lamb coratella may be more suited for palates that are not used to eating organs/offal than the pork liver but both were prepared beautifully. My husband had the braised veal brisket which was tender and in a light curry like sauce. I will miss them when I am home!

Dont remeber how I found out about this restaurant as its not in the tourist area. However I am happy i did. The reason for our adventure was for Trippa and was I pleasantly surprised by how delicious it was. They have the most delicious trippa i have ever had. Nice hint of spicy and little mint. Also order the Chicory side dish and Carbonara. Simple preparation with high quality ingredients. Everything was amazing.

I hesitate to say anything bad about the service. The one person helping patrons was running around like crazy to do his best while the other staff was standing and talking to patrons even keeping a drink at their table. The food we ordered was very good. Sadly the waiter was too busy after delivering our food to stop by and ask if we needed anything and even though he ran past us over and over I could not get his attention for the little bit of cheese I would’ve loved to add. Oh well. The other dishes were delicious. He highly recommended the veggies which were fine. Definitely needed something. We didn’t eat them, but everything else was very good. Everyone else got excellent service. It seemed to me.

Researched this restaurant ahead of visiting Rome - reviews look relatively good. Our experience was ok - I would say this place is more touristy than it touts. Had the Cacio e pepe & carbonara. Both were good - and a must try while in Rome. Also split the beef tongue w / “kimchi” - the dish sauce was definitely not kimchi. Paid £60 total for two entree pastas, appetizer and two glasses of wine. Overall good experience, but beware of tourist vibe.

My wife and I were recommended this place by a local and it was some of the best Carbonara I’ve ever eaten! We arrived a few minutes before they opened for dinner with no reservations, and the owner told us they were fully booked for the night. Despite this, he was nice enough to fit us in a table for 90 minutes. My wife and I both had carbonara and split a bottle of wine, and it was a wonderful evening! The food was great, the servers and owners are very friendly, and I would highly recommend (and recommend making a reservation lol)!

From the minute we walked in we were welcomed by lovely staff who gave us exceptional service in the most inviting and warm manner. Our waiter Christian was wonderful, he was attentive, funny and he gave us some super recommends. The food was impeccable, definitely the best carbonara we have had while in Rome. They have extremely interesting combinations of food and if you’re up for it you can really try some things out of your comfort zone like we did with the horse jerky (also incredible!). If you like white chocolate, the white chocolate custard was to die for too. Overall 10/10 experience, the atmosphere was great and we can’t recommend it enough! We will be back next time for sure.

Located near the iconic Trevi Fountain, Trattoria al Moro is a classic Roman restaurant that offers an authentic dining experience amidst the historic beauty of Rome. The establishment boasts a 1920s wood-paneled interior and outdoor seating, where guests can indulge in genuine Roman cuisine made with fresh, local ingredients. The menu features traditional pasta dishes, locally sourced cheeses and meats, and artisan desserts inspired by regional gastronomic traditions.
To all the negative reviews, it’s a price point problem I get it. Execution is spot on - every dish here is perfectly executed. Flavors on point - if you think Italian, this is it. Service - Italian, exactly as expected. House wine, burrata, lamb, anchovies, carbonara — all perfect. If you think differently you need to rethink your review. This is Italian. And it’s perfect. Get the wild strawberry tart. If you don’t know what that is, don’t go here. @Anne Mohan thank you for sticking to your guns.

Really nice food, especially the truffle pasta and strawberry cake. Service is efficient. Menu is large so there are plenty of options. Pricing is higher compared to other restaurants, which in my opinion is fine, it’s your choice to dine there. What I didn’t like is after you pay they make you leave a cash tip after - not something I have experienced in Europe before and it felt a bit sneaky…

Exceptional from all points, real authentic italian cuisine, lovely place, really kind and funny staff, makes you feel at home 💗 My boyfriend had the best pasta 🍝 of his life (maniche di frate con salsicce e funghi porcini), definitely try these if you can! I have to admit I was expecting more after all the hype. Service was great, with good recommendations, and we did enjoy the meal. The ambience, though, could use some improvement. Friendly people and very nice food. It also has a nice outside area off the street. Wish I discovered it earlier and had an opportunity to go again. The waitress was also very accompanying in letting me practice my Italian language ‘skills’.

This place had two occupied tables at eight, and every table occupied at quarter past eight. We felt like we had stumbled onto a neighborhood secret. The prices seem very reasonable- and the pasta was delicious. We had the amatriciana and the oxtail. I think the oxtail could have had a wee bit more meat on the plate it tasted really good. The real highlight was the side of chicory which was definitely bitter but somehow still so moreish. The service is friendly but a bit slow- it took ages for our stir fried chicory to arrive after we had demolished our pasta. Would definitely go back. Reservations are recommended.

This place was recommended by the taxi driver that drove us to our hotel nearby. We landed in Rome at 7am and walked around the neighborhood for a couple hours since our hotel room wasn’t ready. Despite our best effort to kill time, we still found ourselves standing in front of the restaurant 30 minutes before their opening time. The lady who was setting up the tables was kind enough to let us sit down inside. She brought us a bottle of water and we waited until the kitchen opened at 12:30. Everything we ordered was delicious, especially the dish of the day (chicken cooked with red peppers). Even the house pour red wine was good. We will probably come back again before we leave Rome.

Good very local Roman spot for classic dishes, including plenty of offal. We tried the sausages with bacon rinds and beans which was very flavoursome. Carbonara which was okay, and mixed offal with fried onions, also flavoursome and yummy. Service was friendly and excellent. Dinner for two with 1 litre of wine and coffees was 55 euros.

Lovely, wonderful and authentic! We went to Augustarello two nights ago due to the good reviews - and it turned out to be one of the most amazing nights! We were immediately taken care of by two kind and honest people from the staff. The service felt authentic, committed and engaged - but in a real and honest way. The woman and the man that served us helped us with our needs and with great recommendations, even with practicing our Italian! The whole experience felt alike - authentic! Seeing the single cook in the kitchen making the most lovely food, picking up ingredients from a table placed in the serving hall just by the costumers, the local Italians gathering to eat, the luxury-looking food, the well-composed design and woody interior: created at the same a high but an intimate, familiar climate. We ordered a simple dinner for two with the house’s wine and the beautiful fruit cake to finish up - and it was without doubt enough to give us an experience we will never forget. I will definitely return as soon as I land my feet on Rome again! Grazie mille!

Checchino Dal 1887 is a refined, wood-paneled 19th-century restaurant in Rome that offers fine dining and a sweetmeat tasting menu. It is one of the oldest restaurants in Rome, with a history spanning six generations of Romans. Located in Testaccio, the city's old meat packing district, the restaurant has strong ties to the former slaughterhouse and its workers who were often paid in offal.
Wonderful experience! Excellent service with even better food. The ratio of quality and prices is excellent. We had 2 first courses, 2 second and 2 desserts (one with a historic porto) and 2 digestives. Everything was perfect and I would reccomend to try. The owner,as well as the personnel is extremely attentive to the needs of guests.

A good friend recommended that my wife and I dine here. We enjoyed the dining experience but the service was very slow in the beginning. It took about 30 minutes for the waiter to take our order. Once the order was placed, everything was fine. The wine 🍷 was delicious and reasonably priced. The appetizer was very good and my wife’s pasta was very good. I ordered the sweetbreads with organ meat and it was just ok. I really like sweetbreads but there weren’t very many and the majority of the dish were intestines which aren’t my favorite. Overall a good dining experience. When we return, I’ll order something different.

We had a very disappointing experience at this restaurant. Despite making a reservation months in advance for our group of 15 (we were tourists btw), we were met with hostility rather than hospitality!! The manager was unwelcoming and interacted with us in a rude and dismissive manner. When we sat outside while waiting, instead of kindly asking us to adjust the seating, he abruptly dragged the chairs in front of us without any proper communication. We strongly considered leaving but chose to stay out of respect, something the staff (manager) unfortunately did not reciprocate. Service was unprofessional and lacked basic courtesy. It’s unfortunate, especially considering the restaurant’s historic reputation. There are many other restaurants in Rome that offer better food and far more respectful service. As for the food: the carbonara was overly salty and the overall meal was underwhelming. ❗️Save yourself the time, money, and disappointment. There are far better dining options in the area.

This restaurant was the perfect choice for our last meal in Rome. It has a wonderful, authentic Roman feel. The service was fantastic; our server was attentive and knowledgeable, and it's clear they genuinely care about what they're serving. We had the Bucatini all'Amatriciana and Rigatoni al ragu, both of which were delicious, and an incredible panna cotta for dessert. Fair prices and a great experience. If you're planning to go, it's a good idea to book a table ahead of time, particularly for dinner.

0/5 - Stay away from this restaurant. The manager/resident wine sommelier (he was wearing a grey coat) was VERY RUDE to our group! We made a reservation months before our dinner. ⚠️He needs a crash course on how to treat people with respect. We were very excited to dine in this restaurant but was very disappointed with not only the food but most especially on how he treated us (we were tourists by the way) Stay away from this restaurant if possible! There are other better restaurants in Rome with better service and food quality! And true service was very slow!! WILL NEVER EAT HERE AGAIN! WORSE EXPERIENCE IN ROME - we stayed in Rome for 2 weeks and this was the very very worse trust me ⚠️❗️

was initially quite skeptical about this place given the high rating and number of reviews but it turned out to be great! we only ordered 2 dishes but they were all good. the carbonara was creamy and al dente, not as salty as in other restaurant we ate so it's generally lighter. we enjoyed the fried codfish ball too. it's crispy on the outside and soft inside. came with some veg and roasted potato slice too, nice! service staff are attentive and they have both indoor and outdoor seatings too.

The food had hit all the right notes. Cacio e pepe was served fresh out of the pan, taste of the sauce cuts through the pasta well. The chicken (made in roman style) was cooked well with good portions, served with fluffy potatoes. We ordered a meatball just to try given how their menu had a dedicated section just for meatballs. Pretty worth the stomach space. Salad was fresh too. Service can be a bit slow when the restaurant gets filled up, we waited 10 min to get our bills paid.

To be completely honest, I found this place on some TikTok video, but it was definitely worth it. This restaurant is massive with tons of seating inside and a massive outside patio. They Had a waiting line based on your party size - greater than 4 were in a separate line. We actually only ended up staying in line for about 10 minutes before we were seated at a table. Our server came by and asked us what we wanted and we quickly picked two of their famous pastas. The food came within 10 minutes and was really hot and fresh. They probably did have the stuff ready to go, but it didn’t taste like it. Both pastas were really good and decent amount of quantity however, I was still left wanting more. The pesto tasted like true pesto and the pasta was al dente. We opted to skip dessert and get gelato on the way out. This place does have a bathroom, but the amenities were running pretty low and there was a line for the bathroom as well. They do a good job of turning over tables quickly, but we did not feel rushed at all to leave. All in all, one of the better sitdown experiences we had in Rome.

Sina was the best of the best! They were extremely attentive and even with our baby and toddler who screamed at times the whole staff was incredibly kind to them Constantly entertaining them! On top of that the food was out of this world. 10/10 would recipe d and we’ll come back. The must haves are the meatball pasta, lasagna, carbonara, meat balls white sauce, the lamb, and of course the tiramisu and limoncello. Can’t forget the recommend wines. This is one of the must try restaurant in the Trastevere neighbourhood if not in Rome. Reslly buzzing atmosphere huge crowd waiting in line for the opportunity to have a seat. But it was a fast moving crowd beautifully handled by the restaurant. I tried the Rigatoni al pesto with pinenut cherry tomatoes with a spritz l' apertivo. The pasta was mouth watering to look at and the first bite made all the wait worth it. Really friendly staff who also communicated with me in English. I completed my night with a panna cotta con fresas which was again a tasty end to my wonderful dinner. I would really recommend this restaurant for those who are visiting and totally worth the hype. We wanted in a queue to be seated for around 20 minutes and the food was well worth the wait. We ate their bread, caccio e pepe and pesto. All were fantastic and the caccio e pepe was the best that I have had in Rome. Waiting staff were very polite and helpful. If you are a larger person, you may find it hard navigating the tables and sitting comfortably due to the restaurant and outside seating being quite close together. But the mild inconvenience is worth going through for their delicious meal.

The fresh made pasta is cut and rolled by these sweet ladies in the window. The food is fantastic so be ready to wait in line (we waited about 30 minutes) but definitely well worth the wait. You can call them at 11 am to make reservations, definitely will do that next time. Great location in front of the Pantheon and just great food. Definitely come here when visiting Rome.

BOOMBA...This place was a hit! Right around the corner from the apartment. We arrived just as lunch began and waited maybe 2min. I ordered and devoward the Gnocchi Sorrento Style which was great!! Pasta lady making fresh pasta at the window and you can definitely taste it. My plate took longer than usual as it is baked. Mozzarella with crispy edging around the dish, soooo good. My wife had the fettuccine All'Amatricana which was also great. Over all definitely will be coming back.

The food was absolutely amazing, the carbonara ribs were perfect, exactly how they should be! Perfect balance, perfect texture, perfect flavor, absolutely spot on. I was served by Daniele, who was very kind and attentive. Always there right when I needed something. His friendly attitude made the whole experience even better. Big thumbs up for both the food and the service💫

One of the best carbonaras I’ve ever had! Perfectly creamy, rich, and full of flavor. The atmosphere at Osteria della Fortuna is cozy and authentic, with friendly staff who make you feel right at home. A must-visit in Rome for anyone who loves true Roman food!

Located in the charming Monti neighborhood, al42 by Pasta Chef is a modest yet revered gem offering homestyle pasta carbonara and other mouthwatering Roman dishes. Despite its no-frills setting, this compact venue has gained popularity for its delicious and reasonably priced offerings since its establishment in 2015. The menu features a variety of options including vegetarian dishes like plant-based lasagne and ravioli filled with seasonal vegetables.
Love Love Love! Welcome to flavor town! Pastas are amazing here. Staff is super friendly and the lady seating people is so nice! It’s more of an order at the counter, eat and head out kinda place. It’s a smaller establishment with limited seating. The place opened at 1230. We got there at 1250 and there was already a long line. We waited about 50 min for a table. If you want to order to go, you’d still have to fall in line with everyone else. Best food in Rome by far! Definitely worth the wait! This is a must try if you’re visiting Rome!
Tiffany B — Google review
Absolutely incredible food! Expect a line during busy times, as the venue is not huge (small groups best), but the wait is 100% worth it!! The owner greets and brings you inside personally to explain the menu, and answer any questions you have. Owner also made great drink recommendations, as well as referred us to a local gelato place, which was delicious. All the pasta, except lasagne and ravioli, can be done gluten free - plus they have other menu items and a gluten free chocolate cake for desert, which was very tasty. The pasta we had was the best we have had in all of Italy, across 4 cities, and you would not know the pasta was gluten free if you wern't told. I will definitely be returning!

We were ready to get in just over an hour before they opened to ensure we had a place, the queue can develope quite quickly. The host is exceptionally good and very funny, he makes the atmosphere very friendly and entertaining. The food is delicious, we had capresse, vegetarian lasagne and caprese cakes. All cooked to perfection and brought out very quickly. The capresse was fantastic, it is incredible how much flavour a simple salad can have and the mozzarella was exceptional. The vegetarian lasagne was cooked so well, a slight crispy top and perfectly cooked throughout. The sauce on the lasagne was exceptional and it was definitely the best lasagna I have had. The caprese cake was delicious, just the right level of chocolate with some cream on the side. Masterfully made food, I couldn't recommend it more. But make sure you get there early.

Absolutely loved this place! The service was excellent, very friendly and attentive from the moment we walked in. They actually take the time to explain the whole menu before you even sit down, which makes the experience really personal. The menu is short, but that’s a good thing—it makes it easy to choose, and every dish feels carefully made. I tried the carbonara and it was so delicious—creamy, salty , and it was perfect . You can really taste the quality and freshness of the ingredients. The restaurant itself is quite small, but honestly, that doesn’t matter once you taste the food. It has a cozy atmosphere that makes the whole experience even better. Truly one of Rome’s hidden gems — a place you’re delighted to discover. Highly recommended if you love authentic pasta and warm hospitality! 🍝✨

Simple dishes, well done. 4.5/5. Nothing new or particularly exciting but fresh ingredients, excellent pasta. Line of about 10 - 15 people when we got there 15 min before they opened. No table service so you order at the counter once there are seats available. Counter height so not great for the smallest kids. For the price, near the best we had in Italy.

If you are in Rome and craving truly unforgettable pasta, al42 is an absolute must. The flavors are out of this world — the pasta is fresh, perfectly cooked, and crafted with a balance of simplicity and richness that only Italians can achieve. Every bite feels like a celebration of Roman culinary tradition. Be prepared, though: the place is small and popular, which means the wait can be long. But honestly, the experience is worth every minute of anticipation. The atmosphere outside is lively and filled with excitement as people wait for their turn to enjoy the food. What makes al42 even more special is the hospitality. The staff treat you like friends rather than just guests, and there’s one kind gentleman in particular — a true polyglot who spoke six languages — who helped seat people with such grace and warmth. Watching him move effortlessly between languages to make every guest feel welcome was inspiring and made the experience even more memorable. al42 is more than just a restaurant — it’s a slice of authentic Roman life, with incredible food and even more incredible people. Highly recommend!

Arrived at 1:30 pm on a Monday with a short wait time. Everyone was personally greeted, escorted in, and introduced to the menu. Staff were cheerful and helpful. Ordered a Gricia del Pastore (16€) and a Tiramisu (6€). The Gricia was exceptional. The ricotta di pecora and pecorino made a perfectly creamy, umami, savory coating while the guanciale was incredible, giving every bite a smokey fatty bite. Every ingredient served a purpose and had its moment. The Tiramisu was also incredible. It wasn't overly sweet, was creamy, and delightful.
Charles C — Google review
Tiramisu so good, it'll make you tear up! Some of the best pasta we had in Rome. Made with great technique, fresh ingredients, and the sauces were divine. The portion sizes were huge so you will definitely get your money's worth. The service was amazing, I felt like I was visiting family. The restaurant is small so seating is limited, but they handle the small space they have with efficiency and care. You can tell the staff takes a lot of pride in their work. From the minute you wait in line, they keep you posted on the wait times, they turn tables fast as possible without making you feel rushed, they do a great job of making the menu feel accessible for you, and they deliver you food with speed and care. Worth the wait and wish I had one more day in Rome to eat here again.

La Botticella is a vibrant trattoria in Rome known for its traditional Roman dishes and colorful sidewalk terrace. The restaurant offers a variety of pasta, steak, and other local specialties. One of their popular dishes is the Spaghetti aglio, olio e peperoncino, a simple yet delicious Roman pasta made with garlic, oil, and red chili pepper.
Me and my sister visited here tonight and all I can say is what an amazing experience. From the pasta to the atmosphere it was all incredible. The staff were so lovely and just made us feel right at home. This was definitely what we needed after a 12 hour travel day. I definitely recommend the Carbonara, the roasted vegetables and potatoes then the arancini balls. Will definitely be returning ! Thank you all ❤️

Had very small portion of very salty carbonara. My partner had soup of the day. It looked horrendous and did not taste of anything. Wine was delicious. I do not recommend for dinner

This restaurant was really a pleasant surprise! We were lucky to acquire a table for 4 outside (small terrace in front of the restaurant of 4-5 tables), which was extremely cosy. Great food all made by the lady owning the place, who also came checking whether we enjoyed the meal! If you are in trastevere, make sure to check this one out.

What a wonderful dinner we had at la botticella. The staff was very attentive, friendly and explained things to us tourists in a solid English. We had lasagna and cacio è pepe and both of those dishes were extraordinary. A very creamy and light pana cotta for dessert finalised an evening with lots of laughter and good conversation.

Can not be missed, absolutely delicious. We got a table outside and had a starter, main and desert, all delicious. I Def reccomend going! The wine I got was lovely as well, the refosco. The ravioli was insanely good. A must.

Absolute must try in Rome. The restaurant is a small family-run place serving delicious home-made dishes. We had the special ravioli and the ox tale. Both exquisite. We were so full but went for the strawberry tiramisu dessert and I'm so glad we did. Overall great experience, great food, great people. Thank you for your hospitality.
Ophelia H — Google review
First I need to say this restaurant is no longer the La Botticella it was when I dined there in 2019. Pre-pandemic this restaurant was owned by two sisters and was hands down the best meal we ate in all of Italy. So if that is the place you are looking for this is not it anymore. Although the name has not changed on Google it is now different in person, it's called Il Botticelli. I visited Rome again a few months ago and came back in hopes of the same experience that I had years prior (Even though I was unsure because Google had this location marked as permanently closed for quite some time). I will say the food was good this time, it was just a different menu and prices were much higher. Although that can be said for everywhere these days. The menu was smaller and there were certain items that I remember having that were no longer on the menu. There was definitely a change in ownership. I had the carbonara which I thought was delicious. I remember when we dined here years ago we had overflowing carafes of house wine that were never empty and extremely cheap, food came out as it was ready basically family style (we were a large group of 10), they sent out limoncello and amaro at the end. And our bill was like 200€ total. One sister ran the front of house and the other was in the kitchen. It was crowded, a bit warm, hectic, but felt like were in an Italian home with family. I leave three stars because I think it's misleading to keep the name on Google with the old reviews and I was disappointed in the wine selection and prices, as well as the more limited menu. I have no complaints about the service but it was not as inviting as it used to be. I still would recommend it if you're in the area, I just had been searching for so long trying to find out if it was the same restaurant or not that I wanted to leave this review. So if there's anybody else out there trying to find out the same, now you know.

Absolutely great Roman food. Portions are extremely fulfilling. Very small tables. As starter fried artichoke is a must have dish. The best Mezzemaniche alla Gricia I have ever had. I had rabbit and they served almost the whole. The only down side is the unfriendly service. Please take the tiramisu with strawberries to finish your meal.

Restaurant
Il San Lorenzo is a chic Mediterranean restaurant adorned with contemporary art and offering an inventive seafood menu. Situated in the heart of Rome, it's known for serving some of the finest and priciest fish dishes in the city. The restaurant offers tasting menus as well as a selection of meticulously crafted seafood dishes such as red prawns from Ponza, spaghetti with sea urchins, sea bass fillet, and Catalan-style prawns from Ponza and scampi.
I was a walk in, looking for a dinner alone. The staff were friendly and super welcoming, finding me a table even though it was a Saturday night. Very attentive service and great wine recommendations, I had the tasting menu and was not disappointed. Really recommend this place, especially if you’re a solo traveller.

Amazing experience when you are looking for fish cuisine in Roma. This restaurant could easily grab a Michelin star if it continues like this. Only downside, the person accepting and placing us to our table was clearly below nice. I would have rated it lower if our waiter and the Maître d'H were not so amazing.

Great experience, food is delicious, we had dinner outside that was really great in this time of the year. ingredient are very fresh and dishes are very simple that for me is a plus to appreciate all the tastes. great wine selection and overall service, we will come back. remarkable was the pasta (tubetti) that i loved
Gianni G — Google review
Unfortunately, Il San Lorenzo was our worst dining experience in Rome. From the start, we felt unwelcome — the staff was overly strict about where we placed our baby stroller, despite the restaurant being mostly empty. We were seated near the kitchen in a hot, uncomfortable area, even though a cooler, air-conditioned room was available. It seems discriminating. The food was mediocre and forgettable, especially compared to the high standards we experienced in Venice and Milan. Nothing stood out in flavor or presentation. What made the experience worse was the cold, almost dismissive attitude from the staff, which left us feeling uncomfortable — at times even wondering if we were being treated differently for being Asian. Overall, between the lack of hospitality, the non-functioning AC, and the underwhelming food, we wouldn’t return. Rome has many better options.
David Z — Google review
The food was good, but for a place that expensive I was expecting a better service they brought us the wrong food and other food took a lot of time to come. Over all I would recommend this place only to someone who really enjoys raw fish. But the service isn’t at high enough level.

after reading the TA rvws about the haughty attitude was a bit nervous but went anyway bcs it was close to my hotel and am so glad i did. the seafood is very very tasty. i got a barrotolo of shellfish full of flavor and a fish baked in thin slices of crispy potato which tasted divine like no fish i've ever had before. did not get wine or anything else. and it was a bit expensive at 110 eur but totally worth it. service is formal and courteous. don't interrupt the waiter or try to order things all by yourself or they'll get very put out and get in a huff. just let them take charge and follow their advice and they'll be very nice.

Nestled within the enchanting Villa Laetitia, Enoteca La Torre offers a dining experience that beautifully marries sophistication with the charm of old-world elegance. This upscale restaurant, located just outside Rome's Aurelian Walls, boasts an exquisite ambiance adorned with antique furnishings and stunning floral arrangements. The culinary creations here are as vibrant as the surroundings, showcasing Chef Domenico Stile’s Campanian heritage through inventive Mediterranean dishes that highlight fresh ingredients like buffalo milk cheeses and Sorrento lemons.
Amazing degustation meal. Hosted in a stunning villa owned by the Fendi Family. The atmosphere is set for a beautiful meal. Interesting wine offerings and pairings are of course available. We enjoyed the 6 course degustation and left feeling satisfied. The desserts are amazing and not to be missed. The restaurant was filled when we attended. Please don’t feel intimidated, we were not the only people in casual clothing. May I recommend “casual elegance” or “smart casual’ for the lads. The wait staff were friendly and attentive. Highly recommended.

Fantastic all around, still so very Italian but so creative, some very evocative dishes that reminded me of great moments with friends and family at the shore, road trips around the country, and others, and really fantastic service. Plus probably one of the best if not the best bread service I’ve ever had. Would go again and again!

Amazing meal. Husband and I both did the 8 course taste and he opted in for a 4 glass wine pairing and I tried a glass of their non alcoholic bubbly which was surprisingly very good. The 8 course spanned a leisurely 3 hours so plan accordingly. We were able to get through many of the chef classics - everything tasted divine tho not innovative. Personally we felt the flavor profile was pretty rich, tho every dish is paired with a strong acidic flavor of some sort to balance. Overall we enjoyed the meal very much. Our favorites were the cod fish and the rabbit. They spread out their house made bread pairing as well with great smoked butter and olive oil. The meal ended with a carrot dessert (not that great it tasted like Thai food) and an amazing chocolate dessert with many kinds of cocoa beans blended. Of course they wheeled in a super cute petit four to wrap it all up. The space is was quaint and beautiful, though a bit stuffy/warm - most of the men started taking off their jackets halfway through the meal. Great place for celebrations.

Michelin starred excellence. Food was exceptional for even a starred restaurant. Wait staff made us comfortable with friendliness and complete knowledge of the dishes and wines. We had the seven course chef's choice menu with paired wines. There are so many amuse bouches that we would order fewer courses next time. The wines were good, but some pairings were a reach. Wonderful quiet ambience in the dining room. Tables well apart. A great experience.

My wife and I visited Enoteca La Torre while in Rome celebrating our 19th wedding anniversary. What an unbelievable experience. Everything was top class. The venue, the entrance, the staff, the food, the experience. The attention to detail was impeccable and the food and wine was simply divine. We went for the 8 course tasting menu which took us just under 4 hours to complete. They have a vast wine collection. Each course was a culinary journey for our taste buds. Excellent from start to finish. Highly recommended if you are in ROME. Truly spectacular dining.

An elegant place for good occasions. The Villa Laetitia’s interior will be appreciated by people who likes Baroque/Renaissance opulence like I do. The only thing was missing for the full immersion (with the interior at least) is live music. The cuisine is as rich as stucco reliefs on the walls. The dishes was fantastic, and because of my birthday I received an extra dessert. The only a bit annoying thing was that the whole dinner consist of 7 course menu took around 4 hours, which is exhausting. The serving wasn’t slow, the service is fantastic and professional, but the sequence is a bit disbalanced probably. Anyway, the experience was good ⭐️

Absolutely fantastic dining experience! Hands down one of the top three meals I've eaten in my life. Each dish was near perfection and the wine pairings were spot on and the service was impeccable. Hosteria Grappolo d'oro is a popular restaurant located near the Leonardo Museum and Campo de Fiori in Rome. It has gained recognition for its use of locally sourced ingredients and offers a relaxed yet pleasant dining experience with both indoor and outdoor seating options. The menu features a variety of Roman dishes such as antipasti, pasta, meat, and fish, accompanied by regional wines. Reservations are recommended due to its popularity.
Hosteria Grappolo d’Oro absolutely lives up to its Michelin Bib Gourmand recognition—and then some. The food was exceptional, with every dish delivering on flavor, balance, and presentation. The mix of appetizers was a standout: beautifully varied, thoughtful, and a perfect introduction to the kitchen’s strengths. They were also happy to accommodate small changes off the menu, which added a personal touch to the experience. Service was warm, attentive, and professional, without being overbearing. Altogether, it was the kind of meal that leaves you already planning your return. An easy yes if you’re in Rome.

We had lunch here three days in a row, and the quality never once let us down. The menu always offered plenty of tempting choices, and we were never disappointed. Over those visits, we tried their fish — perfectly cooked and with nothing unnecessary — a lamb dish, starters, homemade pasta, and their cheese starter. We’d also recommend checking the board with their daily specials; they sometimes have interesting variations, and you can either ask your waiter or read it yourself. Their espresso was just amazing, so delicate yet rich and full of flavor! Everything we tried was wonderful, and our waiter was friendly and helpful in recommending wine pairing with the dishes. The whole team was warm and welcoming every time. And in August, when so many good places are closed, it’s such a bonus that they remain open for lunch.

One of our best meals in Italy! Authentic Roman food! The Carbonara was to die for! We also got an order of Cacio e pepe and it was soooo good. The pastas are the first course, and then for the 2nd course we had the most buttery, light and flaky fish of all time. They truly know how to cook at this restaurant! House wines are delish as well. If they have it, treat yourself to the homemade peach ice cream, you will not be disappointed!

We loved this little restaurant right off of Camp De' Fiori, and ate here twice during our week long visit. Fantastic pastas and classic Roman dishes, like braised beef cheek. Waitstaff is kind and helpful. Be aware that pasta is cooked to order and does take some time. Relax and enjoy an appetizer, some great wine, and good conversation.

Came across this restaurant in the Michelin food guide and also located near our hotel. Based on the reviews we were expecting good but it exceeded our expectations. We decided on the tasting menu for the full experience as were advised the portions were half size. The appetizers were incredible, if I went again we would definitely order a full portion of the meatballs 💛 soft and melted in your mouth but crispy on the outside. The different take on the panzanella was also delicious. Pasta and the portions were spot on 👌🏻 For the seconds I enjoyed the beef but my partners lamb was a standout. Definitely recommend for a true authentic experience with a twist !

Best dinner we’ve had so far in Italy, started with the Panzanella which was an amazing starter. For the main I had the Cacio e Pepe, which was the highlight of the night, so much flavour for such a simple dish. Finished with the tiramisu which was also super creamy. Great service and wine as well, glad we found this gem

I would highly recommend the Cacio e Pepe. From the first bite, you can tell that the pasta is made fresh in the restaurant and it was cooked to perfection. The meatballs in green sauce were a delicious appetizer. I was shocked by how low the prices are, considering the high quality of the food.

See below for individual dish rating. We went here because of Pasta Queen. Ordered the Porchetta Ripassata(Roman roast pork) as starter. Main: Cacio e Pepe with Truffle, Cabonara Vignarola. Dessert: Zabaione custard and dessert of the day, Baba (sponge cake with cream and top of with strawberries) Verdict: Roman roast pork:⭐️⭐️ •Nothing to shout about. Cacio e Pepe: ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ •Value for money. Thanks Pasta Queen!! Cabonara Guanciale: ⭐️⭐️ •Too salty Zabaione:⭐️⭐️⭐️ •Light and airy Baba:⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ •Drizzle with rum. Taste like heaven! Service: The waiter was lack of enthusiasm in explaining the dishes. We overheard there were special dishes of the day after we placed the order, but we were not informed. Room for improvement.

Dinner was magnificent. The gentleman who told us the specials is a born salesman. His description of each dish had our mouths watering. Although we had already decided what we were ordering, his wonderful descriptions convinced us to go with 2 of the specials. The paccheri with pork cheek and fig was the perfect compliment of sweet and savory. Paccheri with sausage and crispy zucchini in a light red sauce was full of flavor and textures. Both were absolutely delicious. We also had the Roman roast pork and veal meatloaf. The pork was melt in your mouth tender and the sauce was rich. Veal meatloaf had a wonderfully mild flavor and was silky smooth with a hint of sweetness. Both dishes were phenomenal. I have to mention that their bread was absolutely the best bread we had on our 3 week trip! Service was excellent. The entire wait staff and the managers were incredibly attentive and welcoming. 5 star experience.

We booked a table for 8pm but as the dinner service opens at 7:30pm they allowed us to sit down early. This place was buzzing immediately with locals and tourists, families, couples and some solo. It was such a lovely atmosphere, I’ve also never seen a restaurant turn so many people away, I estimate at least 15 couples were turned away in the space of an hour simply because there was no space, I recommend booking. My wife and I shared a cacio e pepe for a starter, simply to try this restaurants attempt. I can say you will not be disappointed, this was hands down the best one I’ve had in Rome. For main I had traditional Roman Veal dish and my wife had a sea bass (catch of the day) special. I’ve never seen my wife devour food so quickly, I’d assumed she was just hungry but she couldn’t stop saying how delicious it was. My Veal was a little bit too fatty for my personal preference, however the flavours were very nice. On the side we had a side called ‘Caponata’? (I think) and it’s basically a sweet and sour aubergine with bread crumbs, our kind waitress says that this has origins from Sicily and this is their take on it. What I would say is that this outshine the cacio e pepe and was our favourite food of the evening, if not our trip. I will have to try and make it myself when I get home 🤞. Overall a really enjoyable evening and our most enjoyable in Rome so far, a hard place to beat!

But it does not matter what you order, it is made to perfection. Their menu changes every day depending on what they get, which is also great. I came to Rome for a weekend and had to come here every day. If there was one thing to criticise, their house wine wasn’t great, although not expensive at all. I’d recommend you get a bottle instead if you drink wine. And another thing is, you’ll need to reserve a table over phone as it is always full.

The food was good but the main dish, I had the tagliolini al baccala and I don't think I'll ever have a meal that delicious again 😔 but it does give me a reason to come back 😉

I never received my food after waiting 30 minutes beyond when others at the table received their dishes. This has never happened to me in my life. Waiter was largely unapologetic and unhelpful. Go somewhere else. Edit (1 star to 3 stars): After the fact, the owner was made aware of the situation and insisted the dish be made immediately for takeaway. That was a very nice thing to do. The food is delicious!

Went out of my way to try this restaurant based on a recommendation... potatoes were overcooked so they didn't charge me with that (the waiter apologised which is nice). But instead paid for table service (didn't even eat the bread) and one glass of water... the cod was not too bad tho, wld have been better with sauce

We went to this restaurante last time we were in Rome, and we enjoyed so much that we went as a family and the very next day we brought my sister’s family to enjoy it with us. The starters at the time were: olives à milanesa, the polenta was filled with ragu and some other entry which we just loved it. The polenta was perfect! I dream about it! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 The main dishes were pasta with guancialle a typical bacon from Rome region! Unbelievably delicious and unforgettable. What’s a culinary! If I am back in Rome, I would definitely come here again.

We got here based on a recommendation from my friend who is Italian, so that says a lot already. We know how Italians are specific about food quality. Let me tell you, everything was DELICIOUS! The veal was tender and juicy , and as my boyfriend says „phenomenal”. He will be having wet dreams about it haha. Puddings were out of this world too. Everything well and fair priced. You won’t see many tourists here as that’s where the Italians eat. Our server Jennifer was very kind, super helpful (translating to English their Italian menu) and gave us best and honest recommendations. We will be back when next time in Rome :) Grazie!

Great authentic Italian cuisine. I ordered the raviolis and my partner ordered the carbonara, both of which were outstanding. The carbonara was smooth, creamy, and perfectly crispy bits of pork. The ravioli with a red sauce had a lovely heat that built slowly to let you know it was there. The bread was also very well executed.

Sunday family lunch, we took my parents for lunch to experience the local cuisine and my husband and I have been here before, so we know food is exceptional. We had Mozzarella in carrozza for the kids, Gricia and Amatriciana for the big boys, tris al sugo, rabbit (alla cacciatora) and saltimbocca. Every single dish was delicious and with generous portions. Service is good but could be better, they are extremely busy and unless you book in advance, finding a table can be ‘mission impossible’. However, our waiter and a girl with blond long hair were very kind and helpful. Highly recommended, but make sure you book in advance!

Nestled just a short stroll from the iconic Trevi Fountain, Maccheroni is a hidden gem that offers an authentic taste of Roman cuisine away from the tourist crowds. This charming trattoria attracts local politicians during lunchtime, who savor generous servings of handmade pasta and delectable Roman artichokes in its spacious setting featuring three interconnected rooms and an open kitchen. As evening falls, Maccheroni transforms into a lively dining spot where locals gather for hearty meals.
What a lovely restaurant! Food was absolutely delicious as was the house wine. Very friendly staff who were extremely busy but we didn't feel that we had to wait long for anything or felt rushed the leave. Very reasonably priced bill even with the tip. Would definitely recommend to stop here but maybe book as it gets full quickly.

One of the best pastas in Italy! My parents came here on their anniversary, and i came here two years ago and once again this year and the quality is incredible. The rigatoni gricia is to die for so cheesy and delicious. The Greek salad was super fresh and light. Love this restaurant, also the house wine is amazing. Super authentic and a great atmosphere.

After two weeks in Italy we stopped here for lunch; only to be indulged with the best pasta yet. A place that cannot be missed. Our waiter was tremendous and the cannelloni was to die for.

What a gem! This place is still golden after so many years. We stumbled across this restaurant on one of our trips to Rome many years ago and fell in love with it (to the tune of returning for dinner every night that trip - and dinner every trip since!). This is one of those special places that has it all: delicious food, very reasonable prices, exceptional staff, and an amazing atmosphere. We’ve recommended this restaurant to hundreds of friends over the years and they’ve never been disappointed. About to round out our third consecutive night at Maccheroni for dinner on this October 2025 trip and it once again has exceeded our memories and expectations. Grazie mille to the whole staff! We will continue to see you in the years ahead. PS: start selling the black maccheroni tshirts again! lol ;)

Love the staff at Maccheroni. You're in for a good time when you go here. Recommend making a reservation or you're not going to get near the place. Started with two apps, the pecorino, walnut, honey, and arugula appetizer, as well as a pear salad. BUT, it's all about the pasta (or Maccheroni, to say it properly)! We had pasta arrabiata which was nice and spicy, and the cacio e pepe was also delicious. I had the pasta alla gricia (not Greece lol). This became an inside joke between us and the server, we said it like the country, but it's not, it's the style of the pasta. Outside of the apps and pasta, the grilled chicken was very tasty. So, anything you order here is going to be good. They also suggested a specific Italian soda when asked for Sprite (they didn't have it), called Gazzosa. I've since ordered some online because it was so good. Take their suggestions on things, you'll be pleasantly surprised you did!

A wonderful spot tucked between the city’s many tourist traps, this place is a true gem. The food was absolutely delicious; while slightly on the pricier side, it’s well worth it. The cacio e pepe and the spaghetti aglio, olio e peperoncino are must-tries, and don’t leave without tasting the tiramisu—it’s exceptional.

Outstanding Italian dining experience. Recommended to us by a local and well attended by several locals as well. The outside seating atmosphere was excellent and the service was top notch. The food and house wine were excellent. Had appetizers, first and second courses with wife and son. It was the best time we had dining together in Rome. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a great restaurant where the locals eat.

Nestled on Tiber Island, Trattoria Sora Lella is a charming eatery that exudes the warmth of Roman hospitality with its rustic exposed beams and terracotta flooring. This beloved trattoria serves up a hearty menu filled with classic Roman dishes and traditional pastas, making it a must-visit for anyone looking to savor authentic flavors.
What an amazing spot to enjoy traditional Roman cuisine! It's clearly an old school spot popular amongst both tourists but also locals. They have a wide variety of food and drinks, everything prepared with utmost care. Everything was flavorful, you could taste the freshness of the ingredients. They do have a 2 plate policy per person, but it's worth it to try more than one item. The service was also super friendly and kind, anticipating your every need with perfect timing. Also, the restaurant is a little building on the Isola Tiberina and has gorgeous views of the river, it's really cozy (but with great air conditioning). A bit pricey compared to other restaurants in the area, but its quality explains! Grazie mille.
Daniela Z — Google review
The staff was super nice and the service was great, but the food missed the mark. We ordered three different pastas, and all of them were way too salty. It was hard to taste anything else, and none of us could finish our plates.
Marissa R — Google review
A historic trattoria with precise and friendly service. The cheese tasting was excellent and well explained. The battered mushrooms were not particularly impressive, while the supplì were good. The meatballs had a very fine grind, but the excessive use of marjoram unbalanced the dish; the sauce had the right consistency but was somewhat flat in flavor. The carbonara was excellent, with a nice creaminess and perfectly cut guanciale (both in thickness and length), well cooked. Still, it could have used a stronger push of savoriness (more pecorino) and a touch more pepper. The pasta was cooked well, though 30 seconds less would have made it closer to the ideal al dente texture. The maritozzo was decent, enhanced by an outstanding chantilly gelato – silky, with just the right creaminess and texture. Ingredients throughout were of high quality. The price felt a bit excessive, even considering the location, the ingredients, the service, and the historic character of the place. Around €10 less per person would have been fair. Overall, though, it’s worth the experience.
Nicola M — Google review
Was recommended here by two friends but they warned me that it may have changed owners and the standards may have dropped. Definitely not a great experience. At first they thought my reservation was "pending", so walked and left me standing by the door. When I got their attention again to show them it was confirmed, we eventually got seated. The bread was nice, pasta was overly salty. Sweatbread was cooked well but wasn't a fan of the sauce. I definitely wouldn't recommend the veil meatballs. Wine was nice but service was nearly non-existent. Highly overpriced, some much better options at better prices.
Adam K — Google review
Skip this tourist trap. They might charge you extra, give poor service, lose your order, and waste your time. This was a truly frustrating experience. We were seated quickly and told we either have to order the fixed menu (75 euro per person) or order a first and second course from a diverse menu. We ordered a first and second course and waited. The table next to us had ordered 10 min after us ( the ordered the same dish) and they got their food, and we did not. Our first dishes never came and after one hour of waiting we asked for the check for the sparkling water we drank and bread basket they set out for us so we could leave an eat elsewhere (we were hungry and there was no end to waiting in sight). They reassured us that food would come in 5 min. They placated us with some small bites ( these were tasty but very small) of food and another 20 minutes later our second course came. I got the pasta with mussels which was good. Then we waited some more, and asked for the check, then our neighbors did, they got theirs first and we didn’t get ours. Finally 2 hours in, we received the check. You guessed it, it had all of the food on it even though we never received half of our meal. The charge was 130 euros for water, bread, pasta, and a serving of cod. we asked them to take the items off that we didn’t receive and they returned 22 euros. This was for oxtail and squash blossoms (which was the incorrect amount). We were still hungry and just wanted to go (wishing we had left earlier and gotten food elsewhere before a lot of places closed). This was long, drawn out, and they were dishonest about the bill (it had a lot of extra charges). This is a tourist trap. It’s way more expensive than other places around and had nothing to show for it. I recommend you skip.
Julia L — Google review
Having read the other reviews about rude staff we were worried but the place was recommended by a good friend and chef from Rome. Booked dinner and were seated upstairs. This is a fine dining restaurant selling specialities cooked to a very high standard in a special historic location, prices are reasonable for this and customers are expected to eat multiple courses and not dress too casually. This is being made clear when booking. Have the tripe or sweetbreads or other specialties typical for Rome and it should be worth your time and money. This was the best dinner we had in our 4 days in Rome.

Da Gino al Parlamento is a cozy, traditional trattoria located in a small alley near the parliament in Rome. Since its opening in 1963, it has maintained its old-world charm with kitsch murals adorning the vaulted ceiling. The restaurant is known for serving authentic Roman dishes such as tonnarelli cacio e pepe, involtini alla romana, and trippa. The clientele includes politicians and lobbyists who frequent the place during lunchtime.
We had a wonderful lunch here — authentic Roman dishes, warm atmosphere, and excellent value right in the city center. The food felt truly homemade (especially the abbacchio and artichokes), and everything was perfectly cooked. Three of us ate well for €52, which is amazing for central Rome. Highly recommended for a relaxed, genuine trattoria experience!

Very cozy and small place. The food was great and the house wine is a must. Reasonably priced. Must have reservation or be willing to wait a long time. We had to come in person the night before to make reservation. Noticed many locals in the restaurant which gave me confidence to be served an authentic Italian meal.

Simple and traditional. Clearly a place that locals go and about as far from a tourist trap as you can find. Beautiful setting outside on a quiet side street. A very traditional Roman menu. The food was all very tasty and full of flavour. Probably the best cacio e pepe I had during our trip to Rome. Wine is a choice of red or white (no extensive wine menu). An enjoyable meal and close enough to Giolitti for dessert!

Wonderful meal tucked away in a great location. Absolutely recommend the Roman pastas - the amatriciana and carbonara are excellent every time. This was a return visit for us and it was just as great as the first time. Absolutely recommend!

Tucked away near the Parliament, this place feels like a hidden find. Fabrizio (pictured) treats you like family from the moment you walk in. The food is incredible and authentic without trying too hard. Totally fair prices for the quality. Get the Abbacchio alla Cacciatora and the Insalata di Radicchio con Salsa di Alici — both are amazing.

Trattoria Perilli is a renowned family-run restaurant located in Testaccio, serving classic Roman dishes for over a century. A must-try dish is the pasta alla Gricia, made with guanciale, pecorino cheese, and black pepper. The restaurant's recent renovation has preserved its classic vibe while updating the space.
A local recommended the trattoria to us and suggested we try the carbonara, as it’s one of the best and most authentic in Rome. And he was absolutely right! I’ve come to Perilli in two trips to Rome, it does disappoint one of the classics. Charming, incredible food and just an overall incredible experience. The carbonara is excellent, the amatriciana was divine and the everything else was perfect! You also must try the zuppa inglese a not so known Roman dessert.

We booked a table using their online booking form for 8pm. When we arrived it was fairly quiet with only a handful of other couples. Very quickly though it became very busy and there was a family special occasion right opposite us which it felt a privilege to observe. The waiter was amazing. Incredibly friendly and attentive. My partner and I try and speak Italian where possible (we're very much beginners) but it seems to be appreciated. The food was excellent. I had rabbit with a side dish of chicory which was recommended by our waiter. We had a medium carafe of house white wine, both had desserts and then coffee and it was the least we've spent, though I definitely wouldn't have begrudged it costing more. A really perfect experience.

AMAZING! Every single bite, every single course was beautiful, absolutely beautiful! The service was amazing and very welcoming. To start, I had the ravioli with ricotta, spinach and sage butter. It was very delicate dish and every bit was beautiful. For main I had the duck with sour plum and shallot. The dish was very balanced and beautiful, every bite of duck melted in my mouth, for desert I had the pear tart and it was well balanced, and very delicate. The whole meal can together perfectly. I was so happy with the service and food I left a kind tip as there was not service charge included in the bill. Thank you so much team! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

My expectations were a bit high after reading the reviews but unfortunately we were let down. House wine was very good so was the dessert. However starter and main were average and nothing really special. Service was a mixed bag too as some of the team members were very polite and helpful while others were not. I don't say this light heartedly but it was more than obvious that locals were much more welcome than visitors in this place.

I read a lot of good reviews about this place and I went for my 40th while I was in Rome with my partner and my parents. It’s impossible to get a table so book ahead. The food was great except one starter (the deep fried olives one) was bland and boring. The wine the waiter suggested went nicely with our mains. They also had a lovely desert wine. Service was good but they were busy and definitely missed a few things. We mentioned we were celebrating my 40th but they didn’t really seem to care. The atmosphere and vibe is fantastic. I would definitely go back if I ever went to Rome again (but I won’t).

Charming local restaurant. Arrived at 7:30 and were the first people there. Warmly greeted by the gentleman at the front counter. Came with a friend visiting Rome who was interested in seafood. The house red wine was good. The staff were welcoming and willing to work with our limited Italian. We tried some of the artichoke/seafood fried "fritters", they were OK, but they didn't really taste much like artichoke. Then had the squid/broccolini spaghetti. It was OK, but nothing exciting. Maybe we just ordered the wrong dishes?

We visited La Toricella based on a recommendation from the owner of the AirBnB, where we are staying. We were told to reserve our table because this restaurant is very busy. When we reached, the staff did not have a record of our booking. However, they kindly provided us with a table. The restaurant is very rustic and the decor on the inside projects this very well. The staff were very friendly and efficient. We particularly enjoyed the salt fish with potato fritters and the courgette flower with burrata and anchovies. For the main course we had the tonnarelli pasta with courgette and prawns and the linguine with lobster. All dishes were excellent and we only have compliments to share. Definitely a place you should for lunch or dinner if you are in Testaccio!

Update. As you can see from previous reviews, this restaurant is getting worse and worse. My friends and I decided that we will never go back to this restaurant. Really bad service. We had to wait 40 minutes to order even though we had booked in advance. We requested to change the table as they had reserved for us a table that was in the middle of the street behind the corner, it was facing a wall and it was wobbly. Fried squids were borderline disgusting as they fried them without cleaning them; I had to eat their bowels and ink was dripping everywhere. You can see from the pictures that squids used to look (and taste!) much better. They probably skipped the cleaning because they were in a rush. Portions of spigola were ridicolously small, the wine was cheap, and the bill was ridicolously high. You can get better seafood on the beach for half price. I do not know if they changed the chef or something, but I strongly discourage people from wasting their money in this presumptuous restaurant. I got back to this restaurant, but the winter menu was a bit disappointing. I got fried and marinated moscardini, but they were too oily and salty (vote 5). The homemade olive all'ascolana were just OK, nothing that I would order again (vote 6). The bruschetta with beans was tasteless; basically, it was a slice of bread with steamed beans on top. The only flavour I could taste was the olive oil's one, too heavy and acid (vote 3.5). I also had pasta with courgette and shrimps that was quite disappointing too. It was floating in oil and there were just a few frozen shrimps; honestly, I can make it much better by myself (vote 4). Finally, I ordered a homemade tiramisù that was more or less like Tesco's tiramisù, awful (vote 3). The cherry on top of the cake was the bill; 40€ each for some starters and only one main. The owner did not allow us to split the bill saying that it was against the law, which I believe is true in such an archaic country. My vote for this experience is 1, but I cannot forget that I had a great dinner last summer (vote 5); the mean [(5+1)/2] is 3. I do not know if I will give another chance to this restaurant. Below you can find my previous review. l am usually quite strict on ratings but this restaurant is amazing. It is probably the best restaurant I have ever been in Rome. Delicious fried squids, the best ever; incredibly light and crispy, never oily (vote 10). Marinated and fried moscardini. Nice but with a peculiar garlicky after taste that someone might dislike (vote 7). Delightful sea bass on a bed of roasted potatoes; it literally melts in your mouth (vote 9). Mixed grilled fish platter. You can see and taste that fish is super fresh; the shrimps were so nice that we would even eat the skin (vote 9). Good range of home made desserts such as lemon sorbet (vote 7) and tiramisù (vote 9). On top of this scrumptious food we also received a great service. I have never met a waiter who was so kind, attentive and efficient in my life. You can see that this is a real old school restaurant, something that is unfortunately disappearing in Rome. Are you worried about the bill now? Believe it or not we spent less than 50€ each even though we ordered 2 jugs of wine and 4 expresso. P. S. Don't get deceived by the pictures; my phone has a cheap camera that makes look everything worse.

The worst treatment EVER!!! I had called to make a reservation at 6.45 p.m for my daughter because I speak Italian and she doesn't. She was going with a friend and Augusto confirmed with me. When she showed up with her friend, they said they didn't have a reservation and turned them away. It is hard not to think it is because they were the only two non white people and didn't speak Italian. We have gone in the past because their food is delicious but what a bunch of terrible people, really.

La Tavernaccia is a charming restaurant located in Trastevere, on Via Giovanni da Castel Bolognese. While it may be a bit out of the way, their pasta alla Gricia is definitely worth the visit. The prices are reasonable and the quality of food surpasses many other touristy spots. Despite the not-so-great overhead lighting, the delicious food and friendly staff make up for it.
Very local restaurant we visited family thank you to Simona and staff for great service.

Its a bit of a strange restaurant. Owner is a grandma, there is no menu, she speaks only italian. We chose some vegetarian precooked food which was fresh and ok, but nothing special. The house white wine and tab water were horrible. We took also some tortellini with butter and parmesan, that was excellent. Price was fair.

Chicken and Lamb was completely dry. If you prefer that texture this restaurant is for you. The rigatoni was from a box. Yes, in Rome Italy. A Box. You take it from here !

Delicious food and very good vino de casa. The prices were far lower (and the quality far better) than in many places where the atmosphere is more appealing to tourists. Overhead lighting is not the best, but the food was outstanding and the people were very nice.

Antico Arco is a chic Italian restaurant located on top of Janiculum Hill in Rome. Founded by three friends with a passion for wine and fine food, it has been serving refined Italian cuisine with gourmet twists for almost 20 years. The restaurant's plush, modern dining rooms feature silver brick walls, dark wood floors, and black velvet chairs.
A place doing modern takes on some classics and introducing their own tastes. Overall a very pleasant experience, some things to note is that their bread is the best I’ve had in my week here, and they actually split dishes that were shared by serving them separately. Their best pasta dish is definitely the carbonara, and honestly I kind of regret not trying their tasting menu, but they still brought out a sampler before our first dish and even before desert. The only thing I would say to improve is the ginger desert I picked needed more pineapple fruit on it, that would elevate it! The experience was enjoyable and they definitely want you to be happy here, so don’t be afraid to speak up.

Pros: pigeon dish was amazing, the lobster pasta was decent. Con: skip the beef tartar dish, it was too much, not enough seasoning, foie gras didn't taste like foie gras at all. Couldn't even finish it and I like tartar. Skip the first dessert. Shouldn't of went with dark chocolate souffle.

Before visiting Rome my friends spoke highly about the place that we must visit for sure. We went there to have dinner. Menu was selected by chef for us. They just asked which meet we are more into. We prefer fish. And the dishes that we have are all amazed us. We enjoyed the taste and it was other level of satisfaction of eating. Chef Fundim just made our night and now we recommend everyone. It should be the must visit place if you are looking to experience satisfaction. Also the choice of champagne and wine was gorgeous as well.

I also want to share my experience using the service shown in the photo. I was pleasantly surprised at how easy it is to count calories and track meals with it. It’s fast, convenient, and clear — I’d recommend it to anyone who wants to stay mindful of their nutrition.

A five star dining experience sitting outside, it wasn't bad with the traffic noise at all. All of the dishes were outstanding, make sure you have the salmon appetizer with bacon crumbles and also the ambergine appetizer. They have an extensive wine list and the sea bass dinner entrée was delicious. Also there they gave us several complimentary extra small bites during dinner. The lava cake for dessert was wonderful. Service was impeccable but at the end took a while to notify someone to bring our bill. Not an inexpensive restaurant but I felt it was a very good value for the quality and experience. I would recommend the trip (a 20 euro uber ride) if you are staying in downtown Rome near the monuments.

I've lived in Rome for over 20 years and this evening was the best dining experience I've had yet, everything was perfect. From the moment we arrived we were made to feel welcome by the wonderful team of staff. We sat at the counter giving us a great view of the immaculate kitchen and the amazing chefs who prepared every single dish with great attention to detail, precision and love. The food is fresh, beautiful and full of incredible flavours. I can't praise this restaurant enough. Thank you to the chef/owner her two lovely daughters and the whole kitchen team for a wonderful evening. We'll see you again very soon. James & Roberta.

An instagram friendly place with little substance. We found this place when searching for alternate / fusion food in Rome Italy. The place is built into an old structure with tables at close quarters and non ergonomic seating (think wobbly tables and uncomfortable seats). The decor with fairy lights all over the place looks a bit teeny booper than homely. The place has a history of being a sandwich restaurant and has now evolved into a full fledged dining space. We ordered a portion of their foccaccia with fig jam and ham which was brilliant. We followed this with three appetizers - a tuna in dashi, a fried zucchini flower dish and a pumpkin flower mashed dish. The tuna was fresh but the fritter and pumpkin flower mash were very passable. In the mains we tried their amberjack and veal with mustard sauce. The amberjack was nothing exceptional on the flavours (non imaginative) while the veal with the over powering mustard had to be left behind un eaten. Their cocktail menu is not very creative with pretty standard fare. We tried two which were both just okay. The food was plated very beautifully but failed to impress our palates. The service was friendly but slow. We had to actually wait for 30 minutes after the first two appetizers for the next two. In my opinion the place is far too expensive for what it offers and can be given a miss.

A Culinary Revelation in Rome - Pianostranda! Pianostranda has delivered the best dining experience I've had in Rome to date. It's evident there's a deep passion for quality ingredients and culinary artistry here. They offer a refreshing take on modern Italian cooking, expertly woven with influences from around the world. Piperno Restaurant is an enduring, high-end Jewish establishment known for its classic dishes and old-world ambiance. The decor exudes old-school charm with polished wood-paneled walls, chandeliers, and formal service from courteous staff in white jackets and bowties. This 160+ year-old restaurant is a favorite among Rome's foodies and has been frequented by Cinecitta and Hollywood luminaries.
Everything about our experience at Piperno was perfect. We sat outside in the courtyard and the atmosphere was wonderful. The food was delicious and the service was impeccable. A rare gem and a true 10/10. We visited during a busy sunny lunch but chose to sit inside because the interiors are nothing short of cinematic. Everything is authentic and original which results in a time-travelling experience un-like many restaurants in the world. Because everyone else was outside there was nothing to indicate the modern resulting in the true fantasy of 1950s glamorous Rome. Please never change the interiors or add ugly modern features- it’s perfect just how it is ❤️ the owner was friendly and cool and all the waiters look sharp, elegant and professional in their white tuxedos and bow ties. My wine was one of the nicest I’ve had in years. Starter was tasty and unique and served on great plates. I’d love to see a few more vegetarian/ vegan options, fresh Italian salads or vegetable pasta sauces, otherwise I cannot fault this restaurant. Thank you!

Very much stuck in time. Not touristy at all. The team was a mixed bag. Some with a very strong chip on their shoulders, and others very warm. The lady who came across as the owner was very gracious and helpful. It is a place one must go when you have a lot of time. Being very Italian the entire process moves ever so slowly. You are meant to have a leisurely time. No need to hurry. The food is good but not superlative. The atmosphere when sitting outside on a summer day is very nice.

Our hotel is just one min. walk to Piperno that is why we "went" there. We did not book in advance due to our flexible itinerary. We have tried twice (9pm ish & 8pm ish) but were rejected by a mean receptionist though we saw plenty empty tables, especially at a raining night. The result is we turned into eat at a nearby restaurant twice without reservation but with good food and good service though they were full and busy.

Antica Osteria Rugantino is a charming, old-fashioned restaurant located in a historic square in Trastevere. The exterior is picturesque, with classic Italian details like Vespa and barrels. The restaurant offers excellent traditional Italian dishes, including artichoke and puntarelle even when they're not in season. Despite the initial reservation fee, guests were pleased with the warm welcome and accommodating service. The portions are generous, making it suitable for sharing among friends or family.
We tried combinations of 4 different pasta and as someone never able to decide what to eat it was the perfect choice. Real roman taste with local specialties, the pasta was a banger! The Amatriciana might have been a bit too salty because of the Pecorino. But the exceptionally friendly and cool service and cozy atmosphere made up for the 5 star experience. We even got a small bottle of wine for free!

I visited this place on a Thursday afternoon around 2 pm. There were plenty of free tables and I was the only tourist around but I’m not saying that is always the case since Rome is filled with tourists. I was greeted by super friendly staff. Very attentive and always asking if the dishes were of my liking. All three dishes were perfectly prepared and seasoned to my taste. Pretty standard prices too. So overall a good spot.

Last meal in Rome and Disappointing is the word. The mozzarella tasted like something out of a grocery store in the US. The carbonara was swimming in sauce - this is not how carbonara is supposed to be. The taste was mediocre. The only redeeming factors are the bread and the wine which isn’t saying much. Says reservation only but plenty of people walked in on a Thursday night.

i’m so happy my husband and I decided to come here on our 1 day outing to Rome! The beautiful artwork, quirky wooden quotes on the walls, and overall atmosphere are so welcoming. There’s also a staircase leading down to the bathrooms- on the way down you’ll be surprised to find another floor with seating and tasteful decor awaits! The food was delicious, the service was friendly, and at the end we were given a complimentary wine which was so thoughtful. Outside there was a street performer playing which added to the ambience. Truly a wonderful experience. (i also loved reading the owners witty responses to the outrageous negative reviews hehe. i will admit that reading them definitely influenced me to make a reservation). Thank you again!

We had dinner at Antica Osteria Rugantino tonight and it was exceptional! From start to finish, everything was on point, but what truly elevated the experience was the outstanding service. A friendly and attentive server from North Rome (wish we had asked his name!) made us feel incredibly welcome. He checked in on us throughout the evening and gave us a great white wine recommendation that paired perfectly with our meal. The Infamous Platter with four of their best first courses was a definite highlight, real Roman pasta done right: authentic, flavourful, and perfectly al dente. We also ordered a few other dishes to share, and each one was just as delicious. To top it all off, after we paid, he surprised us with a complimentary bottle of their house wine, such a sweet and generous gesture. If you’re looking for authentic Roman cuisine in a warm, welcoming atmosphere, this place is a must. Highly recommended!

This lovely spot in the vibrant atmosphere of Trastevere needs to be on your Rome itinerary if you are a pasta lover!! Our waiter was exceptional, truly the only lovely customer service we had our whole trip. It makes such a difference to have a warm environment. We had the pasta sharer which was more than enough for two. We couldn’t manage to even finish it off. The Amatriciana was definitely the stand out. I was in pasta heaven!

The service here is excellent — attentive, professional, and genuinely welcoming. Be aware that it’s reservations only, so make sure to book in advance. The food was good, though I found it slightly overrated. A large portion of the pasta menu revolves around pork cheeks, which isn’t really to my taste, but others might appreciate the richness. One small downside: they were out of tiramisu the night we visited, which was disappointing since I was looking forward to trying it. Overall, a solid experience with great service, but the menu might not appeal to all tastes.

Pizza Takeout
Italian restaurant
Pizza restaurant
Bonci Pizzarium is not your typical restaurant in Vatican City. It's a small street-food shop that offers a unique combination of bakery and pizzeria, serving some of the best food in the area. Their specialty lies in crafting authentic Roman lunch with versatile toppings like porcini mushrooms and salted pork fat on their square pizzas, which are true to Roman street foods.
Pizza was delicious but there was quite a wait until we got it, lots of people lined up but at least you get a ticket and just wait for your number to be called. One thing I wish the staff didn’t do, is place the meat pizzas right next to the meat free pizzas, as vegetarians we opted out from picking a pizza I really wanted to try because after the potato pizza was half way done, they put the potato pizza right next to a salami one where I could see the meat touching. Otherwise, the staff was very friendly, but I did want to share that feedback! We came here after watching the Netflix episode of the Table on Bonci, and we were glad to have gotten to experience this!
Leen S — Google review
I was lucky enough to be in Rome the day Bonci reopened, and I’d heard so much about it from foodie friends that I was really excited to finally try it. The pizza was good, with unique flavor combinations, though not quite the mind-blowing experience I was expecting. The meatball slice I ordered was actually served cold as it wasn’t warmed up enough, but the flavors still came through nicely. Overall, while it didn’t completely wow me, I’d still recommend a visit—especially given how highly it’s regarded by friends I trust as serious pizza lovers. Flavor

Overall good place to try if you wanna try different types of pizzas and not your typical crust - in a good way! Service takes a bit of time due to the way they operate and there’s very little seating so make sure you plan to takeaway if you want to sit to eat. The vibe is hip and fun and the servers were kind.
Karolyn J — Google review
This place was very hyped up for being the best pizza in Rome. Safe to say, it was very far from it. The queue ahead of us took over an hour, so we just went to get a coffee and came back. The pizza did look good, but unfortunately it lacked a bit of flavour and was not warm. The arancini was actually pretty solid, but overall not quite worth the wait. Prices are slightly steeper, but the total was 30 which was too much for 2, basically 15 a person which is very fair. Theres super limited seating, very overcrowded and loud. They do play some good music which was appreciated. Theres not much to do in the area around either. Would not recommend to trek for.

We ordered Supplì Classico and Carbonara — both were amazing! After that, we tried two different pizzas, and they were really tasty too. We also had two beers with the meal, and the total was 35.58 euros.
Bahattin Ç — Google review
It’s a style of pizza unique to the area and one I’m not accustomed to, so I may not be best suited to rate it. But, in general, it seemed pricey and overhyped for what it was. I thought the suppli was good and the service excellent, but the pizza is not something I’d go back for.
Bob — Google review
I absolutely didn’t like this place. For the first time in Italy, I left my food unfinished because it was so bad. The service was unpleasant, and the staff were rude. There weren’t even any labels showing what kind of pizza it was. I strongly do not recommend this place. And it’s really expensive- one slice of pizza approximately 10 euros. And as well there is no place to sit so we had to eat outside standing. Huge disappointment.
Anna L — Google review
Take a number for the pizza at the door. The food was great and I would recommend if want roman style pizza. No dine in just take out. They might skip your number but just remind them if they do. They'll make sure they get to you. It is quite busy but worth the wait.

This traditional Roman osteria has been running since 1906, and serves hearty Roman dishes such as pasta alla carbonara. Diners can write messages on the walls after their meals, making it a popular tourist spot. The restaurant is popular for its classic flavors and its close proximity to Piazza Navona.
I can’t explain enough how amazing this place is. From our first step in the door, until we left; full and content, as a family of 5 were impressed! Such amazing food and service was exceptional. I would highly recommend trying this place if in Rome! OMG! PS get here early, they start lining up before they even open!

We got there 30min early to avoid a long wait and it was a good decision because shortly after its opening, the people kept coming. The place was cozy but no phone service and the wifi was not the best. The food volume was just right as a female customer. I ordered the original carbonara and my husband ordered amatriciana. Overall, the food was authentic no doubt but nothing really special. The tiramisu was delicious though.
Eleona — Google review
Amazing food!! We ordered the Carbonara and Amatricana along with some drinks and an appetiser. We were saved by the owner from ordering too much which we are so thankful for. She told us to see how we go first with the primi dishes and she was so right! We were filled up after the pasta dishes! Carbonara was excellent (and so it should be based on the name of the restaurant). Amatricana also very good. Pasta cooked to perfection. Service was good. I read a few negative reviews about not nice service but actually we experienced authentic european service. They are efficient, polite and direct. They were very busy. There was a mix of local and tourists. I would highly recommend this authentic Italian restaurant 100 times over and would return again. Best to come early. We arrived at opening and when we left all the tables were full and several groups were waiting for a table.

Carbonara is a very old restaurant in Rome, established in 1906. The service is very kind and gives you a homely feeling. Although the dishes are not large, they are tasty and justify the restaurant's good reputation. The salad was a bit disappointing, containing mainly rocket leaves, 2-3 cherry tomatoes, and a small amount of carrots. Highly recommended

This place is definitely popular, and for good reason. If you want to try it out, either book a reservation in advance or keep your schedule flexible on a couple of evenings to try walk in. Thank you for a stellar meal and evening!

We came here hoping to experience authentic carbonara, especially since the restaurant has been around since 1906… but it turned out to be one of the biggest disappointments of our trip. The carbonara tasted like scrambled eggs mixed with pasta, the burrata was average at best, and the meatballs were nothing more than bread rolled into a ball. Sadly, not the experience we were hoping for.

Visited July 2012 – Hostaria La Carbonara, Rome Hostaria La Carbonara distinguishes itself from the namesake in Campo de’ Fiori by proudly displaying its founding date of 1906. The street itself is linked with Fermi and the “Via Panisperna boys,” but here the walls are instead covered with the signatures and doodles of diners, creating a warm, convivial atmosphere. I ordered the spaghetti carbonara, inevitable when a restaurant names itself after the dish. It arrived generously dusted with pecorino, though the pasta had been left in the pot a touch too long, and the cheese lost its melt before plating. A reasonable 8/10,. The grilled lamb followed, a nod to the centuries-old pastoral tradition in the hills around Rome. Served simply on cos lettuce with ripe tomatoes, it was honest in quality but under-seasoned, and the grill timing lacked precision. A passable 6.5/10. The interior, informal and cosy, was almost elbow-to-elbow, with a relaxed hubbub that suited the evening. I left with the sense that this is a place that rewards regulars who know the stronger dishes on the menu.

Cul De Sac is a popular wine bar located in Rome, known for its convivial atmosphere and vast selection of Italian wines. Situated in a bustling square near Piazza Navona, it has been a staple since 1977. The historic wine bar offers a wide array of 1,500 wines, sparkling wines, champagne, traditional Roman and international cuisine, as well as Italian and French cheeses and cold meats from various regions.
We went to the wine bar twice and really enjoyed the experience. the wine by the glass is very reasonably priced with most glasses being around €6.50 the selection of cured meets and cheese is amazing and the portion sizes are very generous. Has a lovely outside seating area which is very pleasant in the evening

Many Koreans say they can feel a sense of nostalgia for home when eating oxtail stew, so I decided to stop by on my way, feeling a bit tired of pizza and pasta. It was drizzling a bit, so I chose to sit at an outdoor table to enjoy the atmosphere. Unfortunately, the space was so tight that it was almost impossible not to bump into the people behind me. (Most Italian restaurants are quite compact, but this one felt especially cramped.) Thankfully, the food was very satisfying. The ravioli and oxtail stew were not overly salty and were delicious. Looking at the reviews, I noticed some complaints about the staff's attitude. Observing how they treated other guests, I concluded it wasn’t about racism—it seemed the staff were simply not very friendly overall. That said, the food was good, so I’d still recommend the place. It also seemed like a nice spot to relax with a glass of wine and unwind for a while.

Oxtail was delicious! Pate and cheese portions are big. Service was good but not outstanding. We sat inside and the seats were bit tight. Wine options were limited compared to other restaurants we’ve been to.

Wonderful service, food and drinks! Had to come back a second time. The oxtail and ravioli were delicious, as well as the mixed cold cuts plate. Can totally recommend it.
Ohana T — Google review
I had the best pasta during my visit to Rome! The ravioli was delicious too, and I highly recommend trying their Tuscan salami.

Eat here if you have a chance. The food is amazing. It’s such a a cute wine bar with amazing food and ambience in the center of the city. We came for dinner twice and stopped for a bottle of wine to go once as well. The lasagna and Sicilian ravioli are foods you’ll remember eating days later! And of course the tiramisu was the best way to end the meal!
Bret J — Google review
Best Sicilian wine ever and definite recommend the lasagna and aubergine as appetizer! Very cute atmosphere, great food, good service and not a tourist trap!
Yağmur H — Google review
A very delicious glass of white wine (Etna bianco - wine of the day) and a pretty good plate of prosciutto and mozzarella for €20 in a fairly touristy part of Rome

Sora Margherita is a cozy and unassuming trattoria located in the Jewish Ghetto of Rome. This family-run gem is tucked away in a small piazza, marked only by a red curtain. While joining a club to dine may seem unusual, it's a simple process that adds to the cultural experience. Despite its popularity with tourists, locals still flock here for its delicious and reasonably priced Roman pizza and pasta classics.
A terrific little place we heard about from a friend of a local friend. We got reservations in person in the morning and ate on that same weekday night. Great carciofi alla Giudia. We sat outside, not that many tables, even fewer inside. For 32 each we got an appetizer, dinner and a liter of the house red.

Best hidden gem in all of Rome! Homemade meal, amazing ambiance and known to locals. The food is unbelievable and the price is even better. Meat balls are a must and any of the pastas - the staff is kind It fills up quick but they try to get you seated . Outside is preferred seating but sit outside if you can
Zachary L — Google review
This spot is perfect if you’re after a real local vibe, far from the tourist crowds. I’m going straight to the point here: The meatballs (polpette) are hands down the best I’ve had in my entire life. Seriously, skipping them would be a crime. Pasta was solid as well…we had the carbonara, which was good, but honestly I’d go for one of the tomato-based pastas next time because their sauce is incredible. The steak at the table behind us looked perfect too. Sadly, no room left for dessert… guess that’s my excuse to come back

One of the best meals we had in Rome! Definitely get the artichokes and chicory with anchovies - full of flavours and texture.
Hugo C — Google review
Stayed in Rome for two weeks and the rest of our family for the whole month. Our Airbnb host sent us to local not tourist trap places. It was so good we went three times loved it here! Party of 7 and we ordered everything. The homemade pasta was amazing both artichoke styles were great. Trippa was delicious. The lentil soup top notch. Meatballs were out if this world we ordered 9 of them along with sausage and pork in gravy wow. The homemade wine was great couldn’t wait to drink more of it. Can’t forget the desert ricotta with Nutella forgetaboutit would of never knew..The staff was amazing very welcoming two ladies top notch..

The food was the best we had in Rome. Our waitress was very attentive and the outdoor seating was perfect. Not too loud like other tratorie can be. We thoroughly enjoyed our experience.
Lily M — Google review
Warm and welcoming staff who coped with the evening rush and were happy to help us choose our meal. Oxtail stew and the meat both rich and satisfying, fettuccini nice, but the artichoke was special.
B P — Google review
Experience where the locals eat. Homemade Pasta and fried artichoke was amazing. A must try. Ambiance is as expected for a local eatery. We had lunch here.
