Jetwing Lake is a luxurious hotel located in Dambulla, Sri Lanka, offering upscale rooms and suites with modern amenities. The hotel features two restaurants, including a Chinese restaurant, as well as a poolside bar. Guests can relax by the expansive outdoor swimming pool or indulge in spa treatments. Situated by a picturesque lake surrounded by lush greenery, Jetwing Lake provides a serene and tranquil setting for guests to enjoy the natural beauty of its surroundings.
Our stay at Jetwing Lake was absolutely superb! The pool environment was so relaxing, the room setting was perfect, and the food was excellent. From the moment we arrived, the welcome was so warm that we even wondered if they had given us the wrong room — it was that special! We were treated like VIPs throughout our stay. Truly felt like “ladies and gentlemen serving ladies and gentlemen.” A memorable experience we would love to repeat!

I stayed one night at Jetwing Lake in Dambulla, and it’s set in a truly beautiful location. We especially loved the long, spacious pool — it was perfect for a relaxing swim. The pool attendant was very helpful and attentive, which added to the overall experience (unfortunately, I can't recall his name). The hotel offers a buffet, and we really enjoyed the variety and quality of the food. Overall, it was a pleasant and relaxing stay. I would definitely recommend Jetwing Lake for anyone visiting the Dambulla area.

We were able to spend a very beautiful day here. They provided us with high-level service right from the moment we were welcomed. The room was very clean and tidy. The food was very tasty. The service we received at the restaurant was very high quality. The service of Miss. Gimhani there should be special mention.Best place to stay.❤️
Janitha N — Google review
We enjoyed our brief stay at this well -maintained modern hotel in a lovely restful location. The staff were friendly and helpful. Gilmandi, a member of the restaurant staff, not only advised me about condiments for my egg hopper and how to eat it, but also checked that our luggage was being collected! (And advised us about the best coffee in Kandy!). She was delightful and has leadership potential. Definitely a place to return to!!

Another lovely stay at another Jetwing hotel! The rooms were great. Really love the bathroom, the space, the amenities. Few things that could’ve been added are a pen/paper and few laundry bags. Overall a very relaxing stay, had a very nice early morning walk around the property, and the food was great too! A definite recommendation for anyone.
Minolie F — Google review
Visited on an office trip and had a great experience. The rooms were spacious and comfortable with stunning views. The pool and grounds are large and perfect for both corporate and family outings. Friendly staff and good quality food. Highly recommended!

Our recent family stay at Jetwing Lake was truly exceptional. As expected from the Jetwing Hotels chain, their service and quality never fail to impress — but this property went above and beyond our expectations The calm, peaceful surroundings and the stunning natural setting made it a perfect getaway. We were truly touched by the warm hospitality extended by Yasas, Oshada, and Nalin, the General Manager, who ensures every guest feels genuinely cared for The food was simply outstanding, and the overall experience was nothing short of wonderful. A heartfelt thank you to the entire team at Jetwing Lake for making our stay so memorable. We’ll definitely be back!

Nestled on the hills with stunning views of Sigiriya Rocks, Heritance Kandalama is a serene getaway offering sleek rooms and suites overlooking the reservoir. The hotel features a fusion restaurant, a spa, and three outdoor pools for relaxation. Guests can indulge in delectable cuisine at various dining options nearby. Visitors praise the attentive staff and commend the Guest Relations Executive for ensuring a comfortable stay.
An unforgettable stay at Heritance Kandalama! I had a truly amazing experience at Heritance Kandalama. The hotel’s architecture perfectly blends with nature, offering breathtaking views of the lake and surrounding mountains. The rooms are clean, spacious, and beautifully designed to give a peaceful, relaxing atmosphere. The staff were exceptionally friendly, professional, and always ready to help with a smile. The food at the buffet was outstanding — a great variety of Sri Lankan and international dishes, all full of flavor. What I loved most was the calm and natural environment. Waking up to the sound of birds and watching monkeys and peacocks from the balcony made the stay very special. The infinity pool overlooking the lake is simply stunning! Overall, it’s a perfect place for anyone looking to relax, reconnect with nature, and enjoy luxury at the same time. Highly recommended! 🌿💚

Do not waste your money. My wife and I stayed here for 3 nights and were very disappointed. On the website it looks like an incredible location, with great rooms, but it is far from that! The hotel is incredibly dated, it’s been open for 31 years and I don’t think it has ever been updated. When we first got to our rooms, we were so incredibly shocked how poor the room looked - so weathered, stains on the linen and curtains, and limescale and mould in the bathrooms. Alongside dated rooms, there were an incredible amount of bugs - this we knew would happen, but what shocked us is how many were in the rooms and how many kept coming and that the hotel do nothing to stop this. When we asked about them, they said, that there are gaps to the outside windows that they come through - which you would think they should try and fix?! Moving onto the food at the restaurants - whilst there was lots of options at the buffet it was all stale and truly not great. We got some fresh food from the Al la carte, which was okay - but nothing amazing. The only saving grace about this hotel is that SOME of the staff were very kind and attentive, others, especially in the restaurant seemed unbothered, but the reception staff, house service and main restaurant contact were very helpful. Overall - we were massively disappointed by our stay, and felt we had been tricked into an experience that did not exist, which is a massive shame. We would not recommend this stay to anyone unless it came at a severe discount.

We had an absolutely amazing stay at Kandalama Hotel! From the moment we arrived, the staff were incredibly friendly, caring, and attentive. As a family of five from Australia with two toddlers, we were so touched by how thoughtful everyone was — the staff even helped look after our little ones while we enjoyed our meals! That kind of personalized service is truly rare and made our holiday so relaxing. The food was outstanding, the hospitality exceptional, and the spa experience was wonderful. Every detail was taken care of, and we never once felt rushed or pressured — just calm, comfortable, and well looked after. Kandalama is the perfect place for families who want to unwind and be surrounded by genuine warmth and luxury. We left with beautiful memories and can’t wait to return!

During our recent holiday in Sri Lanka with our young sons, we stayed at the breathtaking Kandalama Hotel and its stunning surroundings. We were delighted to spend three nights in one of the hotel’s beautiful luxury suites. The suite was exceptionally spacious for our family of four, even after adding two extra beds for the boys. From our room, we enjoyed 270-degree views of serene landscapes and were entertained by the lively antics of monkeys throughout the day. While some amenities are slightly dated, this does not detract from the experience of staying in a property that showcases the truly magical architecture of the renowned Geoffrey Bawa. We highly recommend the complimentary Bawa tour offered to all guests. It gave us a deeper appreciation of the hotel’s unique design and thoughtful considerations. Another highlight was the early morning birdwatching tour on Kandalama Lake. Our guide, Nayana, one of the on-site naturalists, was incredibly knowledgeable and ensured we experienced the very best of nature. The tranquil surroundings of Kandalama at sunrise were simply surreal. A special thanks to Apsara from Guest Relations, who went above and beyond to make our stay perfect. We also extend our gratitude to the fantastic and dedicated staff who exemplified the very best of Sri Lankan hospitality. To top it all off, the food was outstanding! The best we have experienced in Sri Lanka. As expats, we can confidently say this was the finest dinner buffet we’ve had in the country. Our time at Kandalama created unforgettable memories, and we can't wait to return to this exceptional hotel.

I attended a destination wedding at Heritance Kandalama and it was exceptional. The hotel is stunning, serene, and impeccably maintained, with breathtaking views and thoughtful design throughout. The staff were the standout. Warm, attentive, and proactive at every moment, they made the entire weekend feel effortless and welcoming. The food was superb. Fresh, flavorful, and consistently excellent. Rooms were spotless and everything ran smoothly. I highly recommend this hotel for weddings and memorable getaways.

We stayed in this hotel during the summer. It was an unique and memorable experience. Everything was worth the value. The room was big and very nice. The service was the best. The hotel was neat and well maintained. We were shocked to see the neatness of the hotel even though it is covered by the forest. We had everything we needed, and the staff treated us very well. Thanks to the lovely food and care for the chef and the team. Especially to the service team staff, Ms. Sagarika Priyangani and Mr. Ravindu. The view was memorable and we saw many animals.
Bawani G — Google review
My husband and I celebrated our honeymoon at the Heritance Kandalama ("HK") across 4 days and 3 nights. The hotel is a marvel of architecture and i believe it has truly achieved its goal of being as unimposing on nature as possible. It was so unique being near the animals and the view from both Sigiriya and Dambulla wings are out of this world. A special shout out to Mr Gunapara, the flutist, who welcomed us to sit with him as he played and we observed 3 elephants by the lake. It was such a special moment that we will remember forever. Apsara was extra helpful in organising our itinerary, and we enjoyed the service of Dunuki and Janaka during our meals. We also wanted to thank Mr Nayana for the engaging Bawa tour. We truly appreciate the kitchen's hard work in preparing all the amazing food and presenting it well. We especially loved the pork chops, hoppers and biryani. Thank you Kaveesha and Denu at the grill stations for making halloween so cute and fun!

We recently stayed at Heritance Kandalama with our two kids, and it was a truly special experience. The hotel’s unique architecture and natural surroundings offered a refreshing and peaceful atmosphere that felt worlds away from the everyday. We celebrated our wedding anniversary during the stay, and the celebration was beautifully arranged by Lalith, Shantha, Rebeca, and the rest of the amazing staff. Their attention to detail and warmth made it unforgettable. Our kids were thrilled by the spaciousness of the hotel, especially the welcoming lounge area where they found fun activities to enjoy. The early morning view beyond Kandalama Lake was absolutely breath taking, and the infinity pool was a highlight for all of us—both relaxing and mesmerizing. A special thanks to Mr. Asela and his team, who truly operate like an army of dedicated hoteliers. Their hospitality made us feel completely at home. We only wish we could have stayed longer!

Nestled in the serene surroundings of Dambulla, Sri Lanka, Kalundewa Retreat offers a tranquil and adventurous escape for nature enthusiasts. The resort features nine unique villas, including one floating on an emerald lake, providing picturesque views of paddy fields and majestic mountains across its 100-acre estate. Guests can immerse themselves in various activities such as birdwatching, organic gardening experiences, and refreshing dips in the spring-fed pool.
Truly one of the most unique hotels I have ever stayed. The hotel is tucked in a 100 acre lush land with different plantations. It is like in a paradise. Besides the tranquil settings, we enjoyed all the organic food coming from its own farms. On top of that, they have got a master chef to make the most delicious dishes with their own produce. The service is top as well.

We spent one night in the Kumbuk Chalet and it was such a marvellous experience. The natural beauty of the premises and the surrounding of the hotel gave us a vibe of a paradise. You can spot numerous varieties of birds while having a relaxing bath in the pool. The place was clean, the food was awesome and the staff was exceptionally supportive. They gave us detailed descriptions about the place, its flora and fauna. Their service was extraordinarily great and they all tried their maximum to make us satisfied. They even provided us with a complementary ironing service for two of our shirts. I recommend this place to anyone who is looking for an escape from the hustle and bustle of the city life and personally, I have added this to my list as a worthy place for recurring visits.

One of the most beautiful, serene and peaceful boutiques hotel I’ve been to. Each villa has its own bedroom, bath, small kitchenette and plunge pool. The ideal location for anyone wanting to have a quiet and peaceful time. It’s on the pricier side but definitely worth a stay!
Nimesha F — Google review
It’s disappointing to see such a beautiful, lush, and magnificent retreat being let down by poor management. The level of service you expect for a six-digit LKR per-night rate simply isn’t delivered. We stayed in the ‘Karanda’ chalet-style suite, which offered a lovely marsh view, surrounded by trees and greenery, and included a private plunge pool. The suites are well spaced throughout the property, offering privacy and tranquility. However, around 10 PM, we experienced a power outage—affecting only part of the hotel, including our chalet. Power was not restored that night, and we eventually had to move to a mid-range suite. What made the situation worse was the lack of basic courtesy. Not even the duty manager offered an apology for the inconvenience of spending the night without power. Since we didn’t stay in the suite we had paid for, we had to repeatedly request a partial refund. The duty manager was rude and unprofessional throughout the process. For the price point, guests expect better professionalism, cleaner rooms and bathrooms, and overall higher standards. This place has the potential to be a paradise and earn five-star reviews—but sadly, it’s currently being mismanaged.
Tirantha B — Google review
We had an incredible experience at Kalundewa Retreat. The hotel is set on 100 acres of breathtaking lush greenery. We stayed in the Lower Bakmee chalet, which offered direct access to the lake and a jacuzzi with a stunning lake view. At least 30 different bird species stayed in the area around the chalet, filling the air with captivating and occasionally eerie sounds. The staff were exceptionally polite, and the service was outstanding. We were so enchanted by our chalet that we requested dinner and breakfast be brought to us, which the staff graciously accommodated. The outstanding food was another highlight of our trip to this retreat. I highly recommend this retreat to anyone seeking a peaceful escape in nature, complete with luxurious amenities. Bird lovers will find it especially perfect.

Perfect Honeymoon Stay with Exceptional Hospitality! We stayed at this wonderful hotel for our honeymoon, and everything about our experience was absolutely perfect. The property is excellent, the location is pristine and beautifully maintained, the food was incredibly delicious, and the staff were genuinely friendly, generous, and professional. One particular incident truly showed how outstanding the service is here. We had checked out the next afternoon and were already far from the hotel when I realized my gold bracelet was missing. We immediately informed the hotel, and to our great relief, the General Manager responded right away with concern and support. He promptly coordinated with the on site team to search for it. A very special mention and heartfelt thanks to INDRAKA, the Maintenance Manager, who personally attended to the matter. He found the bracelet in our private pool and went above and beyond by staying at the property and waiting for us to return that night. He handed the bracelet back to us personally. such honesty and dedication are truly rare and deserve the highest praise. We are extremely grateful to both Indraka and the General Manager for their quick response, genuine care, and outstanding professionalism. They turned what could have been a very stressful situation into a testament to the hotel’s integrity and top-tier service. We wholeheartedly recommend this place to everyone. not just for its beauty and comfort, but for the incredible people who make it so special. Thank you once again to the entire management team for making our honeymoon unforgettable!

Our stay felt like a natural home away from home, with breathtaking scenery surrounding the hotel. From the moment we arrived, the environment was both pleasant and welcoming, creating a perfect retreat from the everyday hustle. The amenities were top-notch. We truly enjoyed every aspect of our stay and would highly recommend this hotel for anyone looking to feel at home while being surrounded by nature’s beauty.
Kavindu D — Google review
Terrible , very insecure, the staff says they are not available at night , you don’t have a emergency contact in the room at all , not a phone even , when I was walking to the shower there was a huge rat in my bathroom and it crept through the back of the commode which means any serpent , insect has easy access , and I asked immediately to checkout and not even one hour after check in , I did not feel safe as a solo traveler at all , they never paid my money back I did not stay even for one hour after my horrible incident but they never gave me my money back which was 74k a night in LKR , I personally do not recommend this place to any solo traveler or any couple traveling alone , not safe , not maintained, only the pictures on google look amazing , I would not recommend this place to anyone

Guests can enjoy room service, concierge service, and airport transfers. The hotel also offers bicycle rentals for exploring the area. A lovely stay, peaceful location, super friendly staff, tasty food. Sunsets at the lookout at the bottom of the grounds, by the lake, were special. Nice bird life around the gardens Only negative was that the bike I took for a ride around the lake had non-functioning brakes and soft tyres .. but I made it back in one piece!

Our stay was truly enjoyable – a calm and scenic setting with welcoming staff and beautiful nature all around. A peaceful and quiet stay. I loved everything about this resort. We were warmly welcomed with drinks, and our clean, comfortable room had a spacious bathroom and a terrace facing the garden. Though the TV wasn’t working properly, they provided an iron and hairdryer on request. The resort is set in a serene, nature-filled area. Relaxing by the pool was a highlight. The chef was passionate and friendly, and the food was delicious. Staff were well-trained and genuinely welcoming. Absolutely amazing hotel and amazing location. Our deluxe villa was out of this world! All the staff were so friendly and smiley from the gardeners to the hospitality staff. Food was amazing, so much choice each night on the buffet. A particular mention to Lakmal and his team at the bar who were extremely attentive and friendly. Also the restaurant staff including Geeta who was always very friendly and chatty. Definitely recommend and hope to return one day x

I recently stayed at Amaya Lake Dambulla, and it was one of the most memorable experiences I’ve ever had. The hotel is beautifully located amidst nature, with a peaceful atmosphere that instantly makes you feel relaxed. The rooms are clean, spacious, and designed to blend perfectly with the surrounding environment. The food at the restaurant was absolutely delicious — a perfect mix of Sri Lankan and international flavors, always fresh and beautifully presented. What truly made my stay outstanding, however, was the exceptional service provided by the staff. Everyone was friendly and attentive, but I must give special appreciation to GRO Hashini. Her kindness, professionalism, and supportive attitude made a big difference throughout my stay. She always greeted guests with a warm smile, checked on us regularly, and handled every request efficiently and with genuine care. It’s rare to meet someone who goes above and beyond to make guests feel so valued. Overall, Amaya Lake Dambulla exceeded all my expectations — from the service and food to the atmosphere and staff. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a peaceful, luxurious, and heartwarming getaway in Sri Lanka.

We really enjoyed our stay at Amaya. The rooms are big, comfortable, and set in such a peaceful location — perfect for a relaxing break. The staff were super friendly and always checked if everything was okay during meals. Lakmal gave us great service and brought some really tasty snacks with a big smile. It’s a beautiful, quiet place with lovely people and good food. We’d definitely recommend it!

A very pleasant hotel. I had a great time there and the scenery was beautiful. The rooms were large and comfortable, the restaurant offered a variety of dishes, and the staff were very pleasant. Ravindu in particular was very smiley and always ready to help others. It was nice to be welcomed so warmly.

Very good service. But the room was not as we expected. The air conditioner had some issues but was repaired by the staff. Food was tasty. One of the restaurant staff had hospitality and friendliness ( especially Mr. Indika)
Sivagnanam S — Google review
We checked into Sigiriana Resort by Thilanka on 25th October 2025 for a family trip on a half-board basis. We booked one double room and one triple room. The hotel staff were kind enough to upgrade our double room to a villa, which was a lovely gesture. The villa was very spacious, and the balcony was the highlight. The balcony had spaced-out grills, giving a sense of openness and connection to nature, rather than feeling enclosed. It was perfect for sitting back and relaxing. The bathroom was also large, with a separate shower, bathtub, and toilet. However, the fittings were quite old, with visible cracks and stains. Even the decorative pillows on the bed had marks. The bed was not very comfortable, as the mattress had sunk in on one side. though had a luxury feel, it was outdated and in need of maintenance. The hotel premises cover a large, peaceful area surrounded by greenery-can take a long walk which even connecting to Dambulu Oya. Much connected to nature with birds singing all around. The swimming pool was big, but again, due to its aged and faded condition, it didnt appear very clean. Unfortunately, the biggest disappointment was the food. Both dinner and breakfast buffets had very limited options. Dinner: keeri samba yellow rice, creamy pasta, Sri Lankan white rice, egg salad, one chicken dish, and fried fish. Even the buns weren’t fresh. Breakfast: very few items again, missing many Sri Lankan favorites like kiribath, string hoppers, hoppers The meat options were catering sausages, boiled eggs, omelets, and a Sri Lankan chicken curry. Overall, it was one of the most disappointing buffets I’ve experienced. On a positive note, the staff were friendly and helpful, and we appreciated the complimentary birthday cake, which was a thoughtful touch.

Based on our stay on a weekend. We booked two rooms Pros Easily accessible from the town. Very nice location. Affordable price range. Rooms are large. Fast checking and checkout. Long swimming pool with good view. Large area to explore inside the hotel. Cons Took some days to confirm our reservation after we made the payment. Had to give few calls everyday asking for the confirmation. Hotel is old. Rooms are not properly managed. Meals were the biggest disappointment. Buffet was lacking lot of items. Can't believe this is a star class hotel. Only few items were available in the dinner buffet. Breakfast was little bit better than the dinner. But again disappointing.
Milinda B — Google review
The best thing about this hotel was the pool and the view from the hotel and the surrounding gardens which were lovely. Overall I felt this hotel was not a four-star standard but had best three stars. The rooms and the service for not so good. The rooms were both tired and needed an update and also It felt run down and needed maintenance. The bed was not very comfortable. The room had a safe but it was not secured so you could pick up the safe and walk out with it so it wasn't exactly safe. In the bathroom the shower had a plastic screen which was quite unpleasant. The shower water handle had broken off. So I had this strange knob that I had to try and whittle the try and get the water pressure and the temperature correct which was almost impossible. The food here was also not good. It looked like it had a lot of choices but when you went up close many of the dishes were repeated so the number of plates available like for a lot but there weren't many. More importantly the food was not very pleasant.

04th October 2025 My family and I opted for a full-board package at your hotel, looking forward to a relaxing and comfortable stay. Unfortunately, our experience began on a very disappointing note. Upon our arrival, it was raining heavily. The most significant issue occurred during the walk from the car park to the main lobby. Despite the poor weather, there was no assistance or any form of welcome from the front desk staff. We were disheartened to see four staff members simply standing at the front desk, watching us as we got wet. Not a single person came forward to offer an umbrella or to help with our luggage. As paying guests, we expected at least a basic level of hospitality, especially under such circumstances. Finally, security guard has come and helped us with fully damaged umbrella. When I brought this to their attention, they were apologetic, but the first impression had already been made. A simple gesture like providing umbrellas for guests would have made a world of difference. **Recommendation for Management:** I strongly recommend the management implement a simple protocol for rainy days. Having staff ready with umbrellas to greet guests at the car park would prevent this situation for future visitors and demonstrate a genuine commitment to customer care. While other aspects of our stay were adequate, this lack of basic hospitality at a critical first touchpoint overshadowed the positive elements. We hope this feedback helps improve the experience for future guests.

Amazing Place and good attitude Staff September 2025 We have stayed in many hotels in Dambulla but this one of the best place and we would love to visit again soon. The front office staff one Matheesha is the one who handled our booking and recommend him as he is so kind and polite to accommodate my request time to time. Room was very clean - i requested them for a better view room we got the Quad room instead of Tripple whereas the surrounding is amazing. Room service was really fast and the staff too is efficient. F&B Restaurant - Food is really tasty though limited spread due to the offer may be but we really enjoyed. One Mr. Indika and Mr. Attanayake is one of the asset i would say. They really handled with kindness and with great attitude and more with full of respect. We visited with another family and we really appreciate the hospitality Mr. Indika and Mr. Attanayake provided. Bar Counter - One of the elderly gentlemen who really had taken time to explain about the history of the hotel and we were so happy to spend some time with him too. We really appreciate him too and he too is one of the asset to the hotel. Overall we really loved the place and visit may be will visit soon with more friends. Thank you

Tropical Life Resort & Spa Dambulla is a luxurious hotel located just minutes away from the famous Dambulla Cave Temple. The 12-acre grounds are beautifully landscaped with a pool sitting above a lily-filled lagoon and traditional fishing boats adding to the local charm.
Even though our stay was just for a day, Tropical Life Resort & Spa left a lasting impression. The resort is beautifully nestled in a serene and peaceful environment, offering the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle. The surroundings were lush and calming — truly a tropical haven. What made the experience even more special was the warm hospitality. The staff were genuinely friendly, attentive, and always ready to help, which made us feel instantly welcomed and well cared for. Our 2 night stay was amazing. House keeping Mr. Wasantha has a very good hospitality and very helpful. From the restaurant , pastry chef and F& B manager( Mr. Darshana ) is amazing. Overall restaurant service is good , specially gimhana was very humble. Pastry chef personally reached to us and got a feedback. Our baby high chair was kept in the restaurant for our stay and they cleaned it well and was placed in our table before every meal( didn’t even wanted to ask). Provided special meals for our 10 month old baby. Front office manager Mr. Kasun provided a good service and great hospitality. The only issue we had was with the pool attendant. He is very rude and not professional. We were spoken with his attitude for trying to taking a pool towel with the baby to our room as it was around 12noon and very sunny. Improvement suggestion- wheelchair / stroller access to the restaurant

The hotel was superb with an ecofriendly setup. Pool is magnificent surrounded by a natural pond. Staff service was exceptional, specially in the dining area. Room was spacious enough but they do not provide a clothes rack,so was difficult to dry towels and clothes. Everyday buffet was provided. Food was good but not the best. They can improve on varieties provided. Overall a good experience 😊

We stayed one night with out whole family using 7 family rooms. Most important thing in this was service. They had very good service in the restaurant. Its more than high class hotel. And food was excellent. And there is a large pool. Bit have to check out exact time 12pm. They called 12.10pm to leave from the room.

A really lovely stay near the cricket stadium. Lot of trees and small dogs around to make this place very real. Nature feels around this hotel and makes you feel extremely happy. They have a swimming pool, gym and access to a lot of other activites that are nearby like trekking and climbing the sigriya fort. People here are wonderful. They were very generous in giving us complimentary Dosas to our table. Nice decent spread too for breakfast and dinner.

We stayed at Tropical Life Resort and Spa over the weekend. The rooms were comfortable and well-maintained, which we appreciated. However, the food options were very basic and lacked variety, and the service levels could also be improved. With some enhancements in these areas, this resort could provide a much better overall experience.

Liyya Water Villas is a serene and stylish retreat located in Dambulla, offering chic lakefront villas surrounded by lush greenery. The property features an outdoor pool, BBQ facilities, and a buffet restaurant for guests to enjoy. With its convenient location in the historical district, it's just a short drive away from popular attractions such as the Dambulla Cave Temple and Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium.
A very idyllic place in the suburbs of Dambulla. If you're looking for a calm place to stay this is a good spot. The rooms are super spacious. The staff is extremely friendly and the service very well. The buffet which is offered has a big continental variety and local Sri Lankan food. I only tried the Sri Lanka options and they were very delicious. All together, the place is a bit remote but definitely worth a stay!

This hotel was a lovely escape. The only negative before the positives was booking.com location for the hotel was wrong which felt a little deceptive but the rest of the experience was glowing. Lovely hotel which was peaceful with lovely service. Krishantha Taythissa & Anusha were a highlight of the trip getting food in the morning and dinner in the evening was made a delight with them. The lake provided lovely ambience with a view of the mountain in the distance from the restaurant balcony. The place in general was lovely worth the stay for the price.

A peaceful hotel situated a bit far from Dambulla Town. It is a modern hotel and budget friendly. There is a pond in the middle, and the rooms are facing towards the pond. Lush greenery and water are everywhere. I am really impressed with the rooms. The amenities were modern and there was a spacious room. All the facilities were there. The buffet was good considering the price range, and the foods were delicious. But they couldn't manage the lunch buffet because it was fully crowded. So it was really disappointing. Other than that the staff was helpful and kind. I really enjoyed my stay.

While the property looks nice in the photos and when you arrive, there are a a lot of flaws which come to light later. POOL: The pool shuts at 7pm, which is a bummer considering there isn’t much else to do at the property, or nearby. One day, there was a snake apparently spotted near the pool, so we were confined to only one side of it. Room: Our room had 2 single mattresses joined together so if you slept in the centre, the hard the mattress cover pushed through your back. Since it was raining intermittently, it would helped to have a bathmat outside the room too, where you enter the room with dirty feet. The bathroom has a step down, which you need to be careful of. We almost hurt ourselves without realizing it wasn’t flat ground. I’m all for living in harmony with nature, but there are monkeys around the rooms that can be a bit dangerous. The villas are all spaced out around the pond in the centre, so you may get a villa that is quite a walk around the pond. The AC is quite small – SL can get quite hot in the day time and the AC was on when we arrived, but barely cooling the room. Either they need another AC for a room of that size in the day time, or some other solution. The roofing is glass and wood which it easier for heat to penetrate through, and not let the AC do the job. Restaurant: The restaurant is quite sub-par. The food was tasteless, barely seasoned/spiced and the cheese tasted synthetic. We ordered a club sandwich only to find out that it wasn’t vegetarian (it didn’t say this anywhere). The common restaurant where meals are served is also open air, without any AC. They had 2 fans, which barely did the job. Their breakfast buffet is only available on days when the resort is full – not everyday. Everyday is a set menu where they bring items to your table instead. When we ordered eggs (from the set menu), it was barely the quantity of 1 egg, and the bread came as bread without a way to toast it. On the last day, we saw a hair in the food. There were flies all over the buffet, and it didn’t look like there were any measures in place to remove them. They give you a tea packet as a gift for your stay at the time of check out. All in all, some aspects were good, but definitely not a 5 star property.
Avanti A — Google review
The property is located in a quiet area outside the city, accessible through a narrow road — so drive carefully when entering. The staff are friendly and helpful, but there’s room for improvement, especially in hospitality training. The location and architecture are beautiful, offering a peaceful atmosphere. However, maintenance needs attention — our room door didn’t lock properly, and a few facilities were unavailable. Sleep quality was okay, and the washrooms were clean but could be better maintained. The food was average compared to other places nearby. Parking is available inside the premises, and 24/7 security is provided, which is a plus.

Deeply Disappointing Stay – Not as Advertised We stayed at Liyya Water Villas in Dambulla in October 2025 as a group of six, and unfortunately, our experience was very disappointing. The rooms were far below expectations and not as advertised online. When we raised this with management, they admitted that the photographs used for our room type were inaccurate and therefore misleading. The room and bathroom were extremely small, the rugs were filthy, and the bathrooms were in unacceptable condition. One member of management even acknowledged that he himself would not stay in the room we were given. To make matters worse, the in-room phones did not work, leaving us unable to contact staff especially problematic during heavy rain. The overall customer service was poor, and our concerns were not handled professionally. The most distressing part of our stay was when another member of management accused us of lying, despite us providing photographic evidence, and made a discriminatory remark, assuming we were Indian. We are Sri Lankan, but regardless, no guest should ever be treated differently because of their ethnicity. As a seasoned traveller, this was one of the most disappointing experiences I’ve had. I would not recommend this property until significant improvements are made to both the facilities and the attitude of the management team.

We made our reservation two weeks in advance through Agoda for 2 adults and 1 infant, at what we believed was a fair price. However, upon arrival, I was informed that my Agoda reservation was recorded as being for only 1 adult. At that point, I attempted to amend the reservation through Agoda, but there was no available option to do so—only the option to message the hotel. Although I sent messages to the hotel via Agoda, they were not received due to an internet connection issue on the hotel’s side. To resolve the matter, the receptionist suggested to cancel the booking and make a new one. However, Agoda would not allow me to do so as all rooms at this hotel were sold out at that time. I had to wait for a long period due to the poor internet connection, and when a room finally became available, I made another booking—but it again showed as being for only one adult. Subsequently, their staff advised me to pay the walk-in guest rate to proceed with the stay. I agreed, as there were no other options, and I was charged Rs. 35,000. I believe this amount was excessive, as both Agoda and Booking.com listed the same hotel at around Rs. 20,000 for that date. Additionally, due to the internet issues, the payment process was significantly delayed. When I contacted Agoda regarding the issue, I was informed that the total payment should be USD 82.05. However, the hotel charged me USD 115.63, which is an overcharge of approximately Rs. 10,000 in Sri Lankan Rupees. I brought this matter to the attention of the hotel’s top management, but unfortunately, I did not receive any response from them. I have never encountered such an experience at any other hotel during my travels. I strongly advise anyone considering this property to think twice before booking — their practices feel misleading and untrustworthy. Facility-wise, the poor internet connection, non-functioning TV, No phone line to contact reception, limited food options in the buffet, and breakfast not meeting standard expectations all contributed to a disappointing stay.

Dambulla Rock Arch is a historic bed and breakfast located in Sri Lanka, just 3.1 km from the Golden Temple of Dambulla. The guesthouse offers simple yet comfortable rooms with a garden where guests can enjoy a complimentary breakfast under the tropical canopy. Visitors have been pleasantly surprised by the cleanliness and spaciousness of the rooms, each equipped with its own kitchenette and terrace.
A beautiful hotel with a very nice and welcoming family. The room was spacious, very comfortable, and the balcony was a great addition. The location is also great, close to key attractions and local spots. Overall, a great experience—I highly recommend it!

Very hospitable homestay with the kindest owners and nice spacious rooms. The only downside was a lot of mosquitos in the room and bathroom when we arrived, probably killed 30+ of them in half an hour. The bed however has a net. If coming back after dark the “stray” dogs can be very loud when you want to enter the area.
Mark J — Google review
Nice location , situated in a rural area just off the main high road. The rooms were spacious, the wifi was good . The host was a lovely lady Now the bad.... Some of the pillows in the room were mouldy. The netting above the bed was soiled in places. We had to sleep on top of the duvet because the bedsheets had what we believe to be bed bugs and it was too itchy to get a decent night sleep. The outside of the rooms are riddled in lizards and insects ( appreciated from a natural viewpoint but still a minor negative). The toilet was also in a dilapidated state. Whatever you do , do not disclose any travel plans to the host , she will try her best to get you to use a taxi service she 'recommends' . I can't comment on the prices but other reviewers have mentioned it's expensive Due to the bed being so bad we left a day early. If the linen and the rooms had a thorough bleaching the hotel wouldn't too bad at all

Great location, lovely friendly hosts and the rooms were clean and spacious. Theres also a fridge and cutlery which is really helpful! It’s nice to sit out on the porch and enjoy the nature- it’s peaceful even though it’s super close to the hustle and bustle. There’s free gated parking and the breakfast is also really nice! The pancakes were 👌🏽👌🏽 the ONLY thing I’d say needs changing would be the mosquito nets, they seem a bit old and grubby, and kind of hang over the bed and end up close to you when you’re laid down. (Ps the photo is the family waving us goodbye - so sweet!!)

It was a beautiful place in the heart of Dambulla city. The room was a very large and comfortable well maintained property. Less than 50 meters from Dambulla road and city but this place was very quiet and calm. Around the property there are some nice paddy fields. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We just received it for one night only. If I come next time to Dambulla, I will definitely choose this place again. They serve a delicious and nice breakfast including pan cake, Hoppers, Bread and butter for us. Thank you for your hospitality. Highly recommend this place.
Amith R — Google review
This place is not for everyone! My partner and I were quite disappointed with our stay. While we do enjoy nature, the place was overrun with creepy crawlies, making it an uncomfortable experience. The room we stayed in was in serious need of refurbishment, especially the washroom. The mosquito net had visible stains, and the pillows were covered in mold. We ended up cutting our trip short because we spent the entire night scratching and were unable to get any sleep. On a positive note, the lady running the place and her family were sweet and welcoming. If you’re someone who is well-acquainted with nature and don’t mind dealing with constant itching, this might be an option for you. The closest attraction to this location is the Dambulla Cave Complex, and getting a tuk-tuk was quite easy. However, keep in mind that Dambulla and Sigiriya pose some challenges when it comes to using travel apps, as local drivers often refuse the prices offered by these platforms. This can be an inconvenience if you’re relying on app-based transportation in the area. If you plan to stay here, it’s best to pre-book your travel arrangements or consider rental services. The hotel does offer its own rentals, but we chose not to use them.

This was probably the nicest surprise I’ve had in a hotel so far! I checked the reviews before so I expected it to be nice but I was still extremely surprised what this tiny, sweet, family run hotel had to offer for this incredibly good price. The room was extremely clean, and it was very comfortable and spacious, with an own little kitchen, bathroom and terrace. The family is extremely, extremely nice, very helpful and sweet! The breakfast was delicious and very rich rich! The lady helped us a lot with our plans for the day and she had some very valuable tips for us. During your stay you feel more like family than a foreign guest! Parking is possible! Finally, it is definitely the best hotel regarding value for money I’ve seen in my life so far ! Highly recommendable!

The hotel is really good, room was clean and spaceous and it has a fridge and a kitchenette, which was a big plus. They also offered a free room for our driver, which was really nice. Breakfast was good and abundant Can't spend enough words to express how welcoming, genuine and loving the owner was, she also gave us cookies when we left cause, you know, grandmas always have to make sure to never leave you with an empty belly. Highly recommended :)

Elysia Sigiriya offers great value for money when I stayed here with my family in Dec 24. While the location isn’t the most central, the affordability and spacious rooms more than make up for it. Our room overlooked a peaceful lake, which was a lovely view to wake up to. The swing on the property was a hit with the kids and added a playful touch to the stay. A good option for families looking for a comfortable and budget friendly stay near Sigiriya.

I visited with my husband and baby, and we were truly impressed by the excellent service provided by the front office. The room was spotlessly clean and offered a beautiful view of pool. It will be more helpful if they add towels. The restaurant staff also delivered outstanding service. Nice calm place.. perfect for relaxing. Thank you very much for the excellent service — we will definitely be back!

Recently stayed there for 3 nights. The location and the hotel from outside is beautiful. The reason I'm giving 3 stars is because of the bathrooms. There are no shelves or racks to keep anything, although the bathrooms are really big in size. The next thing was lack of hot water and also inadequate lighting in the bathrooms. The room service boys were very nice and helpful.
Upendra D — Google review
The least clean hotel we stayed in on our trip to Sri Lanka. It is advertised as a 4 star hotel but it does not even come close to the quality or cleanliness of 3 star hotels we stayed at. Our main issue with the rooms were the bathrooms. As pictured we were given half completed bathrooms across the 3 rooms that our group occupied. In the room my partner and I were in, the bathroom door did not close properly, the toilet seat was half attached, the hot water barely worked, the whole bathroom was lit up by one light and there was a constant stream of insects. We spoke to reception and the only thing they could fix was the toilet seat. On our second day after climbing sigiriya rock we went to have a swim and were greeted with rubbish in the pool. This was soon cleaned when the staff saw us taking pictures of the rubbish. We were told that they only clean the pool before someone goes in. However, there is no excuse for having rubish in a pool. On a positive note, the breakfast was good and the staff were lovely and helpful. They even made us a breakfast pack to take with us as we had to leave early one day. They tried to assist us with our issues to the best of their abilities. The issues with this hotel seem to stem from higher up. Once again, this review is not a reflection of the staff but is a reflection of the poor standards of hygiene and cleanliness at this hotel.

Peaceful place off the chaotic main street from Dambulla with a little jungle like garden. It is not in the city centre but I wouldn’t recommend this anyway.Very welcoming atmosphere and all the people working there are just super friendly and helpful. Rooms, especially the bathroom, were clean and had everything you need. There are two possible ways driving to the hotel. Make sure to take the road from the north west. Definitely recommended if you are looking for a accommodation in Dambulla.

The Green Edge is a wonderful silent place in busy Dambulla. The service and hospitality was excellent. We had a truly fantastic stay at Cinnamon Lodge Habarana. This was our second visit with our kids, and we returned to celebrate my husband’s birthday. From check-in to check-out, everything was handled with such care and attention — from the lovely meals to the many activities, every detail made our stay memorable. All our pre-arrival requests were perfectly arranged — the early check-in, beautiful room décor, complimentary birthday cake, and the delightful Children’s Day activities were all beyond our expectations. A special appreciation to the Cinnamon team for hosting such a wonderful Children’s Day celebration throughout October. Our kids had the best time decorating cupcakes, going on a nature trail walk, and enjoying a fun-filled messy art workshop — they couldn’t have asked for more! A very special thank you to Dinithi, who went above and beyond to make our kids feel special. She looked after them so well during the kids’ activity sessions and made sure they had an unforgettable time. Her warmth, patience, and kindness truly stood out and became one of the highlights of our trip. Also, heartfelt thanks to Kinthu, the nature trails guide, for giving our children such an amazing experience exploring wildlife. She took great care of them throughout the walk, made it educational and exciting, and ensured they enjoyed every moment of it. A big thank you as well to Reshani for her helpfulness during check-in and check-out, and to Chef Asindu for the wonderful cupcake decorating experience and for checking on us so thoughtfully during our meals. Cinnamon Hotels have always exceeded our expectations, and without a doubt, they remain Sri Lanka’s finest hotel chain. Among them, Cinnamon Lodge Habarana will always be our family’s favorite and most cherished destination.

During our stay at Cinnamon Lodge Habarana, we truly fell in love with the resort. We booked the Superior King Lake View room, which included both breakfast and dinner, a perfect choice for anyone wanting a hassle-free stay. Our room was just a short walk from the serene lake, and one memorable afternoon, we climbed up the tree house nearby to get an incredible view of the lake as the sun set. Watching that golden sunset was simply breathtaking. The resort is surrounded by nature, and one of the fun parts was encountering the local wildlife. Monkeys roam freely around the resort, and as long as you don’t carry food, they are quite friendly and incredibly cute to watch. We also spotted a massive water monitor leisurely making its way toward the pond, which added to the authentic wildlife experience. Plus, there are some friendly dogs around the resort that love to greet guests. Dining at Cinnamon Lodge Habarana was a highlight of our trip. The food was absolutely delicious, and chef Kelum Prabath deserves a special mention for going above and beyond. He took great care to ensure we enjoyed every meal and recommended some fantastic Sri Lankan dishes that made our stay even more authentic and memorable. We also want to acknowledge the wonderful hospitality from the restaurant wait staff - Danusha, Gihani, Novadya, Maheshi, and Premadathna who made us feel so welcome throughout our stay. Overall, Cinnamon Lodge Habarana offers a fantastic mix of comfort, nature, and genuine warmth. What stood out the most was the peaceful and relaxed atmosphere that the resort offers. On our final day, Azmin graciously took us around the property’s farm, which was such a unique and memorable experience. Every interaction, no matter how small, was thoughtful and carried out with such genuine hospitality. It is rare to find a place where luxury and heart are blended so seamlessly. Had a lovely stay at jetwing. The staff was wonderful and attentive. Rooms were large and very clean (note there is no toilet door, rather an open format bathroom - I was traveling solo so had no impact). I enjoyed wonderful massages at the spa and there were dumbbells up to ~50lbs. The location was easy for sight seeing and there was a nice walking trail on the property. Highly recommend the traditional Sri Lankan breakfast.

A special thank you to Thushara for taking such great care of us — he really made our stay extra special. The food was absolutely amazing — every meal was delicious and beautifully presented. The whole place is peaceful, clean, and beautifully maintained. We truly enjoyed every moment!

I believe this hotel is one of the best places to experience Sri Lankan cuisine and hospitality. We stayed at a Forest Dwelling for two nights, and with its private pool - we hardly felt the need to leave our room. For the entire duration of our stay, we were well taken care of by our butler, Dissa. The hotel and concept is stunning, and it’s a very peaceful and quiet location. Must-visit for anyone craving a relaxing holiday.

We had a wonderful 2-night stay at Occidental Paradise Dambulla. The service and empathy of the staff were exceptional. I stayed with my husband, elder son, and 1½-year-old child, and every time we visited the buffet, the staff immediately offered a feeding chair, bibs, and everything we needed to make mealtime easy and comfortable. The food was excellent with a wide variety of options, and the pool area was amazing — spacious, clean, and well-maintained. I especially appreciated the baby pool, which had different depth levels suitable for children of various ages. The entire property was neat, tidy, and very family-friendly. Truly a pleasant and memorable experience — highly recommended for families traveling with little ones!

Beautiful resort we couldn’t fully enjoy because we went to see lions rock, temples and elephants so the schedule was too tight. You get a 15 Spa voucher when arriving which we hoped to enjoy. Three resort is still under construction, so for the unfinished parts and partly tools laying around I can’t give 5 stars. Prices are very okay to compensate though.
Angelo K — Google review
Nice hotel, definitely worth the price. The staff is extremely kind and always helpful. Breakfast could be improved, but overall it was good. Rooms are clean, although not very modern. The pool with the bar is a great service and makes the stay even more enjoyable. The only negative note is that we didn’t appreciate being asked to write a live review at the hotel. The receptionist even took the phone, asked if everything was fine, and then wrote a positive review himself. It’s a pity for this detail, because the stay is absolutely worth it othervise
Mattia S — Google review
Honestly a good place to stay for a few days and enjoy pool.. Also dont bother at least for now paying more that 40€~ per night with breakfast as they are often doing some construction all around the pool, its still clean and usable though. Rooms could get some love but overall for discounted price its totaly worth it. Only issue i have is ridiculously high prices of cocktails, drinks and food. Adter Sundaras we have literally stayed in 5 star hotel in Trinco(DSK) and prices are 50% of what they are in Sundaras. In my opinion its way to much for offering "so little"
Burek M — Google review
The Sundaras Jungles Caves Resort and Sundaras Resort are the same hotel. It has a tropical looking pool area and very attentive and helpful staff making us feel special. Decent breakfast with lots of options. Right next to the Cave Temples, within walking distance or 5 minute tuk tuk ride. Safari can also be easily arranged with pick up and drop off from the hotel. There was DJ music in the evening around the pool and after 10pm it got quiet. There seems to be construction going on nearby but we didn't hear any noises and it didn't affect our stay. Unfortunately, the photos don't show the poor quality finishes and numerous imperfections. Be careful in and around the pool and in other areas as there are lots of painfully sharp edges, unexpected steps and level differences that are a trip hazard. The shower didn't drain and we couldn't lock our balcony door. The restaurant offers limited and average quality food options for a high price (VAT not included in the menu prices!) No lift, some people had to drag their luggage to third floor... Overall , it's not a resort, not a luxury hotel, and the price to value ratio was not great compared to other places. Nevertheless, the staff did a good job and the place offers some nice background for holiday photos if you don't zoom-in too much.

This hotel was fantastic we had a great time. Got upgraded to a family suite and got served watermelon juice on arrival. Food and drinks were delicious. 10/10 recommend
Eabha R — Google review
Although some of the rooms are showing their age, the hotel fully meets expectations thanks to its impeccable service and the ambiance of a hotel in the middle of the jungle. The Sri Lankan breakfasts and service are truly top-notch in Sri Lanka.
Bartek S — Google review
The staff at the hotel were very kind and welcoming, which I truly appreciated. However, unfortunately, the quality of the services did not match the high price of the accommodation. The room was not properly clean, and there was an unpleasant smell coming from the bathroom drains. We had two dinners and for a meal costing 3,000 rupees, one would expect top-quality food, but it was only average at best. The massage for 10,000 rupees was also quite ordinary and did not stand out in any way. Breakfast was ok. Funny think, they give you discount, when you write a review. There is one condition, it must be 5 star review😅 Overall, while the staff were friendly, I was disappointed with the standard of cleanliness and services provided for high price paid.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Amaya Lake Signature Villa, and it was truly one of the best Sri Lankan resort experiences I’ve ever had. The private pool was a real highlight—clean, well-maintained, and ideal for both a morning dip and a quiet evening swim. The view of the lake from the villa was simply breathtaking. Overall, a wonderful experience — highly recommended for anyone looking for comfort, great service, and a touch of nature!
Isuru R — Google review
We spent 2 days at 'Sigiriya Kingdom Resort' last week. Why I write this review is because there is so much possibility for them to grow which they seem not to see. Let me start with the positive feedback. The staff, especially the room boys and waiters at the restaurant were very helpful and polite. The soup and the food in the 'set menu' was very good. We personally complimented the chef. The beds and the AC were good and I liked the balcony and the view of the natural surrounding. I loved the pool which is one of the best features of the resort. We had a good stay. Now, let me move on to the things that need improvement. We received a "This is your advance payment, pay the rest immediately!" welcome. My husband didn't even get to sit down and have the welcome drink after a very long drive. Maybe it was because they were desperate as they didn't seem to have a full house. It may be because people like us who stay there once won't consider coming back twice or recommend it to anyone else. ●The bathroom was the most terrible part of the stay. We have good bathrooms at home and expect better ones at a resort. *The bathroom was not clean at all (especially the toilet) * Slippery floor that needs bleaching powder * No soap dish/ toothbrush holder at the sink * No hot water * Low water pressure * The water stopped while taking a shower and my mother had to wait for about half an hour to finish her shower ●A broken old dirty hand-shower has not been removed ●One sliding door of the wardrobe was broken and got stuck ●The kettle had no plug base and had to be carried to the bedside plug bases when we needed hot water. The reception said that they don't have a multi plug. ●We got an iron without an ironing board ●Only two buffets during a 2 day 'full board' stay (bf, dinner) ●The dinner buffet had only pork, and tiny chicken kebabs and fish kebabs with just 2 small pieces of fish ●The dessert buffet at dinner comprised just 3 desserts and not even ice cream in such a hot climate ● A few people (staff) were watching the guests serving themselves near the desert stand and it was awkward ●There were no pool towels at the pool and we had to call and get them. No one informed us about that. We saw staff meetings being held and maybe you should discuss these shortcomings there. Especially because the service should match the amount of money we spend for our stay. The high charges do not reflect the quality of the hotel, but the basic facilities and comforts do. Please do not take the local guests for granted. We have been to many hotels of all types and give this feedback hoping that your resort would improve in quality. Thank you and I sincerely wish the resort 'Good luck'!

Had a wonderful stay at the Sigiri Kingdom Hotel Dambulla. The location was perfect for sightseeing, placing it within considerable distance of all the main attractions such as Dambulla Rajamaha Viharaya (500 meteres) The staff was perlite and welcoming and accommodating right from the moment we checked in, making us feel right at home. Our room was spotlessly clean, spacious, and had all the amenities we needed, including a very comfortable bed and fast Wi-Fi. The buffet spread was delicious with plenty of options. They paid extra attention for kids meals also. I highly recommend it and will certainly return during my next visit!"

An amazing hotel for the price. The views are stunning, the atmosphere super calm, and the staff very friendly. I even extended my stay because of the peaceful environment!
Juan B — Google review
Very disappointing experience with extremely poor hotel management. There was no discipline or professionalism from the staff. They clearly need proper training from the basics on how to handle guests and organize services. While the access road is decent, parking is very limited, perhaps only suitable for the number of rooms available. Overall, a waste of money. Too much sounds, rooms are not sound proof. Think twice before booking, save yourself the disappointment.
Shen M — Google review
We stayed here for one day and we liked the property and the staff is cooperative. Location is very beautiful and comfortable stay. Can work more on cleanness part.
Shivani V — Google review
I stayed at a this hotel in Dambulla, and it was a very uncomfortable experience. We booked 3 double rooms and paid half of the price in advance. At check-in, we were kept waiting a long time in the lobby. The lady in the osari gave very bad service, was rude, and insisted we pay the full amount at check-in, even though we had already made an advance payment. The rooms were disappointing — the air conditioning in my room didn’t work, and when we complained, they just said they didn’t know about it and that no other guests had complained. The food was terrible; the rice was undercooked and almost inedible. The staff clearly need proper training in hospitality and customer care. Overall, I would not recommend this hotel due to poor service, bad facilities, and low-quality food.

Fresco Villa is one of the best value hotels in Sigiriya. I initially booked a Supreme Deluxe room for one night but ended up extending my stay for another night at just $30 per night. Upon arrival, I was welcomed with a refreshing drink and had the unique opportunity to take part in a traditional oil lamp lighting ritual. The room was clean and offered a lovely view of the pool. It was well-equipped with toiletries typically found in five-star hotels, including shower gel, lotion, a toothbrush, toothpaste, and a shaving kit. The toilet seat was sanitized, and the glasses were sealed for hygiene. The rate included a complimentary buffet for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Laundry service was available at a reasonable price. The staff—including the manager, security guard, and waiters—were exceptionally friendly and always greeted me with a smile. My stay at Fresco Villa was truly memorable, and I would highly recommend it. P.S. Please don’t forget to give a generous tip to the staff. They work really hard and truly deserve it.

The bathroom was dirty and the room overall felt old and in need of renovation. Breakfast was acceptable, with options like eggs and chicken sausage, but be aware that any type of coffee comes with an extra charge. We also found fleas in our bed, and instead of a proper bed, they had pushed two beds together, which was uncomfortable. The AC was very loud and seemed outdated, making it hard to sleep. Would not recommend unless improvements are made.
Mayra B — Google review
My experience at this hotel was very bad. In total, I stayed for three nights. On the first night and the following morning, there was a problem with the hot water. My mistake — I should have complained immediately instead of waiting until the evening. They eventually fixed it; apparently, someone had switched off the controls outside. The next day, I found plenty of ants in the bathroom and some other insects. They came with a spray to kill them. The following evening brought another surprise — a gecko defecated on me while I was in bed. On top of that, there were more insects in the bathroom and bedroom. Handles in the bathroom were broken. The Wi-Fi was poor and barely worked. A pot of tea in the restaurant cost 1,100 LKR, and there was no fresh juice available. I stayed in room 314. This is not a 4 star hotel.
Dorota Ł — Google review
I recently stayed at Fresco Water Villa, and while it is categorized as a 3-star property, the name can be quite misleading. There is no actual water villa experience here – no villas over water, no dedicated water view. In fact, the "water" part is just a small waterbody near the parking area, which doesn't match the impression the name gives. The rooms were decent and staff were polite, but if you're booking expecting a luxury or unique "water villa" vibe, you may be disappointed. It's more of a regular villa-style hotel with standard amenities. Would recommend it only if you're looking for a basic stay and not for the "water villa" experience as the name suggests.

It was perfect. Beautiful rooms. Comfortable bed. Great service. The breakfast is delicious. The hotel arranged all my excursions. I love that everything is made of natural materials. Even signs. Its also very near to the Sigiriya Rock.

The hotel and its surroundings are calm and ideal for a relaxing vacation. The room is slightly smaller compared to other 4-star hotels I've stayed at, but the bed is comfortable and the air conditioning works well. The bathroom has an unpleasant odor, which might be due to an issue with wastewater drainage. I had read about this in previous reviews as well, so the hotel staff should recognize it as a serious problem and take steps to resolve it. The buffet doesn't offer a wide variety of food, but the available options are decent. The staff is excellent and made our two-day stay very comfortable. Special thanks to the chef, kitchen staff, and waiters—all of whom were very helpful. We were traveling with our 2-year-old child, and they were happy to prepare whatever food the baby needed. Thank you, chef, for your kindness! The pool area is clean and very enjoyable. Overall, I would rate this hotel 8 out of 10.

We stayed at Ekho Sigiriya from 11th to 13th October, and our experience was simply amazing! We travelled with our 2-year-old baby, and even though we arrived before the official check-in time, the management warmly welcomed us and arranged our rooms without any hesitation. We booked one double and one triple room on a full-board basis, and everything exceeded our expectations. The General Manager, Manager, F&B Manager, and all other staff members were incredibly kind and attentive. They always prioritized our needs and made us feel completely at home. A special mention to the team for preparing customized meals for our baby without any extra charge — such thoughtful service truly touched us. The rooms were spotless and well-maintained, the food was delicious, and the rates were very reasonable. The hotel also helped arrange a vehicle for our elephant safari, which was a wonderful experience. Plus, you can enjoy a breathtaking view of Sigiriya Rock right from the hotel — it’s very close by! Highly recommended for anyone looking for a relaxing stay, great food, and genuine Sri Lankan hospitality.

Was here recently with my family, and honestly, nothing crazy. Room were nice but the AC didnt work, had to swich rooms, ants were all over the place. Service was great honestly and the staff were very friendly. About the food, not the best. There chicken and beef in the curry were very dry and the portions were like 3 spoons of curry, pasta was great and the hamborger was nice as well

We paid around 60usd for a night. The day after, we booked another homestay which was a little far away for 20usd and it was much better. Location and the staff are nice but the room definitely did not worth 60usd. There wasn't even hot water in the morning. When you spend that much you expect some standards. This place disappointed us.
Atakan C — Google review
I am sorry to say so but what they are doing with the cocktail two for one promotion is a fraud. They have two different menus, one for happy hour and one normal one. The happy hour menu is almost precisely twice as expensive as the standard menu, so dividing the price in half brings the drinks back to normal price. In Austria we call this a scam. This is very unfortunate, because the bar looked nice. Better not do a promotion at all instead of a fraud.

Water Garden Sigiriya is a luxurious retreat that perfectly blends modern comfort with the ancient beauty of Sri Lanka. Nestled near the iconic Sigiriya Rock, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, this hotel offers stunning views and an exquisite design inspired by the historic water gardens of the region. Ideal for honeymooners, it features high-end villas—some equipped with private plunge pools—and provides gourmet dining options alongside a rejuvenating spa and wellness center.
We went on our honeymoon and stayed for two days, it was truly the best hotel we’ve ever stayed at. From the moment we arrived, the welcome was warm and heartfelt. The location was perfect, and the hotel staff were incredibly friendly and attentive throughout our stay. A special mention goes to our coordinator, Uadara, who gave us outstanding service highly recommended! The restaurant staff were also amazing they took the time to ask about our preferences and made sure we got exactly what we needed. The food was absolutely delicious. Our room was super clean, well-maintained, and had all the accessories and facilities we could possibly need. The room service team, along with the rest of the staff, were so supportive and kind. This hotel made our honeymoon truly memorable. We’d love to come back again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a wonderful getaway!

Brilliant stay here. Couldn’t have asked for a better site with the view of Lion’s Rock and the stunning water gardens! Our villa was gorgeous and our butler Udara plus all other staff were so professional and helpful. The pool was our favourite. A wonderful place with so much to do around, although we couldn’t wait to get back to the hotel to enjoy it there too! A nice problem to have. Thanks for a great time.

Loved everything about Water Garden Sigirya. It’s a beautiful property and the villas are so spacious and lovely and the service provided was exceptional. Big shout out to our butler Udara who went out of the way to make our stay comfortable. He was truly remarkable. Dilshan and Avishka were extremely hospitable as well. Can’t be more grateful for all of the staff who made our stay such a memorable one. Looking forward to visiting again soon.

Fell in love with this hotel. Between the excellent and kind service, big rooms, lovely spa/gym, comfortable bed, high quality food, pool, attention to detail, cleanliness, and the surrounding nature (monkeys and peacocks on site!), it was the ultimate spot to start our relaxing vacation. I only wish we had stayed longer! I would come back to Sigiriya just to stay in this hotel.

Very nice located hotel with a good view on the Sigiriya (Lion Rock). The hotel area is very large and well maintained with a lot of plants and animals walking/flying around. We stayed in a superior deluxe villa which is large, clean and has a small outside pool which is in good condition. The room is fully equipped with many nice extras (e.g. binoculars for bird watching). The food was very nice and the executive chef and his team did greatly cover our dietary needs (vegetarian & gluten-free/celiac). We got extra courses not mentioned on the regular menu - thanks a lot. The service was overall good with the exception of a few waiters making a highly unmotivated impression and not even greeting you or asking if you have any requirement. Nipun who was our dedicated butler did a great job in covering all needs. Overall a very recommended hotel.

1. Location & Ambience Absolutely stunning location with breathtaking views of Sigiriya Rock and Pidurangala Rock. The property is beautifully designed with a perfect blend of nature, luxury, and privacy. The surrounding water features and lush greenery make it feel like a peaceful escape. 2. Accommodation The villas are spacious, modern, and luxurious while still maintaining a natural charm. Private plunge pool was a highlight — perfect for relaxing after exploring the area. Rooms are spotless and well-maintained with every detail thought through. 3. Rooms The accommodations include Deluxe Villas, Superior Deluxe Villas with plunge pools, and Duplex Twin Villas with plunge pools(particularly suitable for families). 4. Service We were treated with exceptional hospitality from the moment of our arrival. The staff were warm, attentive, and genuinely eager to ensure our comfort throughout our stay. Every request was met with both a smile and efficiency. We extend our special thanks to Mr. Tharaka and Mr. Kasun. 5. Dining Experience The food was delightful, offering a blend of both local and international cuisines. The breakfast selection was fresh and diverse, and the dinner presentations were exquisite. Everything was truly delicious, and while there wasn't a buffet, it certainly wasn't missed. 6. Facilities & Activities The property boasts wonderful amenities, including an infinity pool, a spa, and guided excursions. It also provides convenient access to Sigiriya Rock and other cultural sites, making it a perfect starting point for exploring the region. The spa services were reasonably priced, and the masseurs were attentive and skilled. Overall Experience A truly unforgettable stay. Perfect for couples, families, or anyone looking for luxury in the heart of nature. Highly recommend Water Garden Sigiriya for an indulgent, peaceful getaway.

The 4-star property features amenities such as a lending library, cable flat-screen TVs, and free WiFi. Situated near the ancient part of Dambulla and the Kandalama Reservoir, it provides a serene setting for guests. Very big clean rooms. We were a family of four and still had lots of room. Pool area is clean and well maintained. Staff were kind and helpful. Perfect location for a safari
Audrey G — Google review
The hotel has a lot of potential, the rooms have a great view. The restaurant is with AC and the stuff is friendly. Kahweesha and the team is supporting a lot. The buffet quality is not great and also too cold, we have seen better in Sri Lanka. The a la card fish was good but the rotti for breakfast was uneatable. I can recommend the hotel but the must improve. The pool is great.
Michael H — Google review
Review of Nice Place: The rooms were fine. There were some holes in the mattress that looked like moth damage, but otherwise it was clean and well-kept. The view was incredible and the surroundings were beautiful, almost giving a jungle-like atmosphere. The reception staff were very friendly and welcoming, which was a big plus. Unfortunately, the restaurant was the biggest disappointment and felt like a waste of money. The food didn’t taste very good, the service was rushed, and it took 55 minutes for our meals to arrive. They only had one menu for the entire restaurant, so the staff pressured us to order quickly so they could pass it on to the next table. Breakfast was also underwhelming, with what seemed like leftovers from the night before, small unappetizing buffet portions, although they did have an egg station. Overall, I would not recommend the restaurant, but the hotel itself was nice and pleasant.
Sarah H — Google review
We stayed at The Nice Place resort in Dambulla for a day as a group and had a very pleasant experience. The hotel is conveniently located by the roadside, yet away from the bustling town area, which makes it easily accessible while offering an extremely calm and quiet environment. From the moment we arrived, we received a warm welcome from the supportive and friendly staff. The rooms were comfortable, well-maintained, with good air conditioning and hot water facilities. The food was also delicious and satisfying.
Nalinda P — Google review
1. Do not go for full board in this place. Go for half board or bed & Breakfast. If they offer lunch at their restaurant called, Dambulu Kitchen on the way, just turn it down. Because if no food available at that restaurant, you will get a raw deal. For us the same thing happened and they made a devil's chicken devill full of bones which are hardly edible. 2. Avoid so called "Tree Houses", because they have bad smell coming from toilet pits. I asked for air freshener but it was ignored by the front office. So I have to use air freshener from my car because the smell is unbearable. 3. Dining hall is very hot because one of the AC's not working and hope that the owner will fix the issue. PLUS POINTS 1. Food at the dinner and breakfast buffets are good. 2. Tree house rooms are excellent except the bad smell. 3. All amenities are available including a mini fridge. 4. Minor staff is very friendly
Suranga G — Google review
Its really a ‘Nice Place’! We got to stay here for one night and choose half board for food. Rooms are spacious and clean equipped with mini fridge and hair dryer. Balcony over looks beautiful nature. I really like the different colour towels which avoids confusion for the ones using. Food is amazing and service is excellent. The staff is very friendly. Impressed by the Sri Lankan food here. My only concern bathroom does not have fresh air flow/ exhaust. There sure is a window but without any mesh so insects can enter easily.
ANUSHA V — Google review
This is the best hotel around and the location of the hotel is Amazing. Nicely covered with greenery and a decent swimming pool Area. I would highly recommend it, The food quality and taste is outstanding. They need to check for Wi+Fi connectivity. Since the network seems like remote.
Aamir A — Google review
We stayed for two nights and booked the half pension. The breakfast and dinner buffet offered some nice options. The charge for water was quite expensive. The rooms are clean but have gotten a bit old. The AC works but is very noisy (to sleep with) and not really adjustable. The staff is incredibly nice and very helpful. They charge 3% extra to pay by card, for no reason?!?!

Each dish is thoughtfully prepared using fresh, high-quality ingredients that not only nourish the body but also satisfy the soul. It's a true culinary experience that complements the wellness philosophy perfectly. But what truly makes Ayugiri excellent is the people. First of all I would like to thank the staff for letting us check in very early - that was just amazing! Hotel is great. Rooms/houses are very spacious and clean. AC works very well. Food is very good. Service is on a different level- very nice and helpful! And now cherry on top- ayurvedic treatments - you must experience it! After heavy day walking to the top of two summits getting massage was just phenomenal! Just make sure you book the treatments in advance so it will be better to properly plan your stay in the area! One thing to recommend to the staff - would be good you make some sort of introduction to the hotel and area - so guest would know what exactly is there (but I understand we came very early)!

I had an exceptional stay at Ayugiri. The Ayurveda treatments are truly top-notch: each session is carefully designed to deeply relax you and support your overall well-being, using precise techniques and authentic practices tailored to your needs. You can feel that the therapists are both skilled and attentive, making every treatment both soothing and effective. The place itself is peaceful and beautifully maintained, but what really makes the difference is the kindness of the staff and the manager. Always smiling, caring, and attentive, they go out of their way to make you feel welcome and at home. Their warmth and attention to detail make the experience even more special. A place I wholeheartedly recommend for anyone looking to recharge and take care of both body and mind through genuine Ayurveda.

Amazing hotel with excellent rooms. Staff is super attentive and the facilities are very good. The treatment and consultation was very good and would highly recommend it. The location is very peaceful whilst equally not far from sigiriya rock as well. Special mention to all the amazing staff at the property who were very nice

Ayugiri is truly a haven that beautifully combines comfort, luxury, and authentic wellness. From the thoughtful Ayurvedic consultations with the doctor to the expert care of the therapists, every aspect is designed to bring deep relaxation and renewal. The peaceful surroundings create the perfect setting to unwind, while the elegantly designed villas offer privacy and comfort throughout the stay. What makes the experience even more special is the heartfelt warmth and genuine hospitality of the staff, who go above and beyond to make you feel cared for. Ayugiri is without doubt a memorable retreat for anyone wishing to restore balance to the mind, body, and soul.
Saliya P — Google review
This is a beautiful place and the setting is stunning. We couldn't fault the room or the service. However, there were a couple of points which made us question the 5* standard. We loved the Ayurvedic massages each day but given it's a wellness resort and the Ayurvedic doctor advised us to be drinking 2 litres of water per day, we found it odd that there was no drinking water available at the treatment centre or by the pool. The only place you can find water is in your room. The pool area lacked any kind of service and didn't really feel like a 5* hotel. There seemed to be an overall lack of attention to small details which are what set 5* places apart from others. Our final note to management would be the inclusion of bedside reading lights as, in the spirit and ethos of Ayurveda, there is no TV or any other kind of in-room entertainment. Every member of staff was very friendly and hospitable though.

Truly and amazing experience. Staff is so friendly and attentive. Nothing is too much for them. This is a perfect get away for utmost relaxation. Meals are prepared individually as per the advices given by our consulting doctor. Very tasty and lot of verities. We had a peaceful time at this lovely resort.

Our stay at Ayugiri was a truly transformative experience. The Ayurveda treatments were simply outstanding, guided by expert professionals who brought a sense of peace and rejuvenation to both body and mind. The entire environment of the resort is incredibly serene and peaceful, providing the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life. The food was exceptional—delicious, healthy, and a wonderful reflection of the resort's holistic philosophy. Our room was a sanctuary of comfort and elegance, meticulously maintained and beautifully designed. What truly sets Ayugiri apart, however, is the staff. Every single member of the team was welcoming, attentive, and went above and beyond to ensure our stay was nothing short of perfect. Their genuine warmth and hospitality made us feel completely at home. Ayugiri is a sanctuary of wellness and tranquility, and we cannot wait to return.

We had a truly pleasant experience at Nivadoo Resort, Sigiriya, during our recent visit. From the moment we entered the hotel, the hospitality was on another level. Puvi, the steward who ushered us in and served our lunch, was exceptionally polite, well-mannered, and friendly — she really did her best to make us feel comfortable. The rooms were cozy and spacious. Except for a minor issue with the hot water system, everything else was far beyond our expectations. When it comes to food, I would undoubtedly rate it 10/10! A huge thank you goes to the head chef, Mr. Dilan, whom I’d consider a true asset to the hotel. He had beautifully balanced all the cuisines and offered a delightful variety in the food spread. Without any hesitation, I highly recommend Nivadoo Resort, Sigiriya, for anyone looking for a perfect stay with zero regrets. Thank you!

During my recent visit to Nivadoo Resort Sigiriya, I was truly amazed by the exceptional hospitality and attention to detail shown by the entire staff. From the moment I arrived, the team greeted me with warm smiles and refreshing welcome drinks, making me feel like a valued guest rather than just another visitor. The staff went above and beyond to ensure that every need was met promptly and with genuine kindness — a rare quality that truly sets this resort apart. The food was absolutely delicious and freshly prepared with a perfect blend of local Sri Lankan flavours and international dishes. Each meal felt thoughtfully crafted, from the breakfast buffet with tropical fruits and traditional hoppers to the exquisite dinner served under the stars. The chefs clearly take pride in their culinary creations, and every bite was memorable. The room service deserves a special mention. The service was prompt, courteous, and consistently of high quality. My room was always spotless, and the housekeeping staff paid close attention to small details, such as neatly arranging personal items and ensuring fresh towels were replaced regularly. The in-room dining service was equally impressive — my meals arrived hot, beautifully presented, and right on time.

A special mention to Dinuka from the front office, who was incredibly welcoming, professional, and always ready to help with a smile. Kaveesh from the restaurant also stood out with his friendly attitude and excellent service — he made sure every meal was perfect. The food was delicious, especially the traditional Sri Lankan dishes. Overall, it was a wonderful experience — calm atmosphere, warm hospitality, and great value. I had a very unpleasant experience at Nivadoo Resort Sigiriya and would not recommend this place to anyone looking for a genuine and comfortable stay. First, the food quality was extremely poor it was cold, tasteless, and far from what you would expect from a resort of this price range. The rooms were unclean, with dust and stains that clearly showed a lack of proper housekeeping and maintenance. The staff were unprofessional and unhelpful throughout my stay. Basic courtesy and hospitality seemed completely missing. Whenever we raised a concern, it was either ignored or handled carelessly. What’s even more disappointing is that after reading other reviews, it’s quite obvious that many of the five-star reviews appear to be written by their own staff or management, trying to mislead new guests. The reality is very different from what you see online. Overall, this place is not worth the money or the time. There are many better options around Sigiriya that offer clean rooms, friendly service, and honest hospitality. I would strongly advise future guests to do their research carefully before booking.

I had a lovely stay here. The dorm is simple, but it was enough — clean, comfortable, and had everything I needed. The pool is definitely nice to have — great for a quick dip and to cool off. Breakfast was tasty and filling, and there’s even a hidden sunset point nearby that offers an amazing view — don’t miss it! But the best part of all was the owner. He was incredibly kind and went out of his way to help me with everything I needed. That kind of hospitality makes all the difference. Highly recommend this place!

One of the most fun stay in Sri Lanka as backpackers. Breakfast and dinner are great and with all included it was a very good price. The owner was super fun, kind and smiling. We loved to chill in the pool and the sunset activity. 10/10 would recommend

Dorms are in a separate house from the namesake nearby resort. The beds and (cold) showers on site are OK. At the time of my stay, the kitchen was not equipped and wi-fi barely worked. However, all the amenities of the resort (great buffet breakfast, pool, hot showers, fast wi-fi, nice communal areas) are available also to the hostel guests and everyone there is friendly and efficient so it turns out to be an amazing value for money.

I mistakenly made an error booking the wrong month for my 2 day stay at the sevonrich and the hotel owner was so accommodating as to make space and allow me to stay. honouring the price that was on booking.com. the rooms were basic but clean with very effective aircons and fans and good water pressure. the highlight of the stay was the private day tour done by the hotels tuktuk man and tour guide chandana! for only 5000 (only 4000 was quoted but i wanted to tip) rupees we went to 2 temples a hike and some other spots around town (not including entry fees) topped off with a free sunset hike not far from the hotel. it was very peaceful and quiet and all the places we went to were local and not crowded by tourists. we were the only people at the rose quartz hike and it was incredible if you want an authentic quiet jungle experience then sevonrich is the place to go!

Really nice hostel, very clean and helpful staff. Owner was really kind to drop me to the town and suggested a good place for dinner. Since it is off season, i was the only person in the female dorm but still i felt so safe as a solo female traveler. I mistakenly took another lane and 3 dogs almost bit me. Wild Grass Nature Resort in Sigiriya is a peaceful haven for nature lovers. The villas with glass walls make you feel like you're living in the jungle. The villas are massive. We looked through various hotels in the area and this by far was the largest we found. Everything was comfortable, thoughtfully designed and blended well with the landscape. You can see that the construction of the villas pose minimal disruption to the environment and its inhabitants. The private pool was much bigger than we expected, and enjoying it in total privacy with all the surrounding foliage made it extra intimate. The service was outstanding. Manager Nimal and his team were warm, friendly, and went out of their way to make our stay perfect. One night, they even brought a full meal to our room when someone in our group wasn’t feeling well. The food was amazing—fresh, flavorful, and beautifully served. We tried several experiences including a dinner at the Chena Hut. It’s a must! The food, the ambiance and the setting left us talking about it for days. The serene lake and sounds of nature made it the perfect place to unwind and enjoy the simpler things in life. If you’re looking for a relaxing escape in a stunning natural setting, Wild Grass is a must-visit.

What we liked: The room was spacious and clean. It had everything one would need for a comfortable stay. There is a Cargill's supermarket and wine store 400m away. The breakfast was substantial, varied and tasty. What we did not like: The wi-fi signal was poor in the room. It was better in the common area at the reception.

We turned up without a reservation but it wasn’t a problem at all. We were made most welcome and given a glass of Guava Juice which, which was delicious, whilst they checked to see if they had a vacancy. We were in lucky… very very lucky as it turned out, which became apparent as soon as we were shown to our room!!! It was amazing… beautifully clean, as was the bathroom.. everything worked as it should and we even had a kettle in our room. A real bonus! Next day we were treated to the most amazing breakfast with a huge selection of food; It was truly delicious! We were so impressed with everything, including the excellent, attentive staff that we tried desperately to stay one more night but unfortunately we were not so lucky this time as it was fully booked! We would definitely make this place our first port of call should we be back in the area! Thank you so much to everyone for making our stay so memorable! Footnote: the only reason for not giving full marks for the location is because it is quite a way off the main road and might therefore be a problem for some!

We had a perfect stay at Green Village Dambulla! The room was spotless and very charming, and the warm, family-like hospitality made us feel truly at home. Breakfast was delicious and abundant every morning. We stayed 4 nights because Dambulla is such a pleasant little town with beautiful temples to visit, and it’s the ideal base for exploring both Sigiriya and Minneriya National Park. The hotel also arranges these tours with very kind and professional drivers. All in all, a perfect place to stay in Sri Lanka. Highly recommended!

Really good place to stay for some days. Owners are very friendly and assisted in planning and executing tours. Owner drove us to Pidurangala with the Tuk Tuk for a fair price and showed us good photo spots outside the main places. Breakfast was great, room was clean and comfy. Absolutely recommend staying here.

Beautiful gem hidden in the middle of Sri Lanka! It was so nice that we stayed an extra night! The family hosting us was very kind and welcoming. Rooms were very clean. Breakfast was very tasty. If we ever come again we will definitely visit this place again! A 3 person family from Poland and Iceland sends warmest regards.

Very good place to stay. Rooms are very clean and good. Good people. The owner arranged tuktuk for Sigiria and polannaruva for a reasonable price less than the pick me app. Free drop services within 2 km was done by the owner.

I had a wonderful stay at New Peacock Hotel. The room rates are very reasonable, making it a great choice for budget-conscious travelers. What truly made the experience special was the excellent service from the owner, Mr. Gayan, who was incredibly helpful and welcoming throughout my stay.

I made a reservation for two nights and when I arrived they gave me another room that was not the one I paid for in booking. I needed in the last minute to look for another hotel because the room was too small and without air conditioning. His response was that he gave my room to another couple.

The New Peacock Resort is the best place to stay in Dambulla. It is not directly at the mainstreets so is is nicely calm. Within a 7 minutes walk you get into the center. The Rooms are the perfect size and very clean. The Staff is very helpful. They organized us a private driver to take us to Sigirya to see the lion Rock from the best angles and viewpoints. You can also order breakfast which includes lot of local fruits and also Omlette burger or other sandwiches.

This place is very calm and nice. This hotel is the best place to stay and spend time. Also, good staff and good service are provided and there is good security.

Great hotel, warmhearted team, silent area and beautiful garden, nice restaurant/terrace, only 5min walk downtown, 7min drive to cave temple and 30min to Sigyria. The breakfast is very good and of high quality. The owner is devoted to deliver the best service and hospitality experience for his guests; he takes time to connect with prople and interesting to talk to. See you soon for a third stay. Thanks a lot!

Helpful, professional, and kind owner.. He arranged everything and was even kind enough to drive us to the Golden Temple when the driver was unavailable. His recommendation about a safari booking last minute was also spot on. It was a great experience.

Amazing 5 star service. I was staying 2 nights and the bread of the breakfast was 2 times something different. You get a full plate of fruits and there will be enough of the one you like. Room was clean and looks new, but he told me it was 15 years old great maintenance and the host is making sure you get everything you want from your stay. He makes sure you get the right busses helps you with transport local prices and like everything! Their is to much good to say about this, and oh yeah amazing nature around this place.

We booked this on a whim, and it ended up being the best lodging decision we made on our trip to Sri Lanka. The location is perfect- right by town, but a few minutes off the main road. There are only a handful of rooms, so it has a very small feel. A few things we liked: The staff was excellent and the manager/operator speaks excellent English. Everyone always had a smile and went the extra mile for us. The rooms are very clean and we'll put together. The restaurant is very good. I highly recommend you eat dinner there at least once. We were there over Christmas and the hotel had a special Christmas cake and Western roast chicken dinner. They invited all the guests (about 10) over the the restaurant to light candles on the cake and played Christmas music. It helped make our Christmas away from home a tiny bit easier. The hotel does a nice job arranging transportation and activities. We booked transport around town, to nearby towns, and eventually to Kandy (along with a Jeep safari). The price is very reasonable for the quality of the hotel. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone in the area.

Terrible service.Hopeless food and rooms...they have tricked people with photos.Rooms and bed linen haven't been cleaned in months.Pool is disgusting. Shame to say as Sri Lankans we even witnessed a tourist who was complaining for their late service and hopeless food.He said it was the most terrible place he ever stayed at in Sri Lanka. The manager and the lady run away from people when we needed to talk to them. They literally hid in their rooms at the hotel. They even faked a new year celebration, captured some pictures and just updated their page.Terrible.

Very Disappointing Experience – Canceled After One Night We booked a two-day stay but checked out and canceled our reservation after just one night due to poor service and uncomfortable conditions. The room had no towels, tissues, or water bottles, and we had to request everything. We ordered dinner at 7:30 pm, and were told it would arrive by 8:30 pm, but it didn’t show up until 9:45 pm after we complained at reception. The bathroom conditions were poor, with a faulty bidet and a bad hand shower. The Wi-Fi had no signal, and we had no internet connection at all. Overall, a frustrating experience that led us to cut our stay short. I wouldn't recommend this place.

After reading a mix of both good and bad reviews, I decided to take a chance on Aswadduma Hotel, drawn in by the stunning pictures of the hotel and its surroundings. My decision turned out to be a great one, as the hotel has recently come under new management and the improvements are remarkable. Everything is now running smoothly and perfectly. The staff at Aswadduma Hotel were exceptionally friendly and provided amazing service throughout my stay. The hotel is located in a charming village, right in front of the beautiful Kandalama Reservoir and nestled in the heart of the Kandalama jungle. The location is incredibly peaceful and picturesque, offering a perfect retreat into nature. One of the highlights of my stay was the chance to see various wild animals in their natural habitat. This place truly is a hidden gem for nature lovers. The hotel also features a huge swimming pool and a luxurious jacuzzi pool, which were perfect for relaxing after a day of exploring.During my visit, some adventure activities were still under construction, but I'm sure that once completed, these activities will add an exciting dimension to the guest experience. For those planning to visit soon, there will be even more to enjoy. The ambiance of the hotel gave me a unique vibe, almost like living in the jungle. It was a refreshing and invigorating experience. Overall, Aswadduma Hotel is one of the best hotels I have ever stayed at. Thank you so much for providing me with such a memorable experience. Keep up the fantastic work!

Our experience at Dambulu Oya Family Park – Paradise Waters was extremely disappointing. When we called to make a reservation, the manager clearly mentioned the prices and room conditions, but upon arrival, he suddenly increased the price without informing us beforehand. On top of that, he insisted on a strict 11:00 AM checkout without any flexibility, regardless of circumstances even though we booked a full board stay including lunch. The customer service was unpleasant and unprofessional. The environment was not clean, poorly maintained, and with very limited staff, everything took unnecessarily long. The person who presents himself as the manager (an elderly man) seems to have no idea about running a hotel, hospitality, or customer service. The so-called “triple room” was misleading – it only had a concrete double bed with a thin mattress, and a poorly arranged additional space, which was far from comfortable. Overall, this place lacks honesty, cleanliness, and proper hospitality. I would not recommend this to anyone looking for a pleasant stay in Dambulla.

I wish I couldn't even put that one star cuz I had the wast experience ever with this place. First of all I couldn't even stay there because manager decided to tell me that there are no reservation under my name last minute. I literally made a phone call the day before to the main desk which was answered by MR.MANAGER , and I asked him to put full board reservation under my name for four people, which was then confired by the manager. He then told me to call the number the next day and gave me a time. So like he said I cold him at around that time, mind you we have already drove half the journey by then. But from the moment he called he was being very bitchy about the whole situation. He said I have not put any reservation nor have called them, and If I did he would know because he is the MANAGER !!! , well news flash buddy you are doing and absolutely terrific job at managing the place. He didn't even check the call log nor waited for my response and cut the call which is very rude of him. Overall I am damn disappointed at this place and specially you MR.MANAGER !!! DO BETTER OR GO HOME !!!

Location: The park's location is convenient, situated near Dambulla city and close to various other popular tourist attractions in the area. This made it easy for us to explore the region without hassle. Cleanliness: While there's room for improvement in terms of cleanliness, it was by no means a deal-breaker. The park's maintenance was acceptable and didn't significantly detract from our enjoyment. Service: The staff provided good service, and we were particularly impressed with the manager who was attentive to our needs and inquiries. Facilities: Most of the facilities we expected were available at the park, contributing to a comfortable and enjoyable visit. Activities: The park offers a diverse range of activities, including pony riding, a pool, a river for relaxation, and a small play area for children. These options ensured that everyone in our family found something they enjoyed. Value for Money: We felt that the park offered excellent value for the price we paid, considering the variety of activities and the enjoyable experience it provided. Grand Kalundawa Resort is pure peace and beauty. Surrounded by nature, the views are breathtaking and every corner feels like a retreat for the soul. A perfect place to rest, recharge, and connect with nature in comfort.

Stayed at this hotel with 6 families and unfortunately, our stay at this hotel was one of the worst experiences I’ve had. Food Quality: The food was subpar. On the first day, the dinner was disappointing, and even worse, they didn't refill the curries once they were finished (On the third day). Safety Concerns: There were coconuts falling into the swimming pool area from nearby trees, which is a serious safety risk for guests (Specially for kids) Room Amenities: The creamers provided for the coffee were not enjoyable (see attached photo of milk coffee made with their coffee and creamer). When I asked the manager for a free bed tea, they flatly refused. Hot Water Issues: On the first day, there was no hot water, and on the second day, there was no water at all in the evening. To make matters worse, there was no extension phone in the room to even call the reception to complain. Room Comfort: The roof sheets were extremely noisy, which made it difficult to sleep peacefully. Service & Staff: While the hotel is severely understaffed, I must acknowledge that the few staff members present gave their full effort to try to serve us day and night. Overall, I was disappointed with my stay, and I would not recommend this hotel to others.

The best location with river front and huts. Superb place for relaxing with nature. You can jump in to the river and enjoy the time. Rooms were clean and okay for the price. It seems like these days, they have lack of tourists and not having their chefs. They food was horrible ! We took foods from outside which they allowed too. Only the nreakfast was good. Can't blame them even with the current country's situation. Overall its good for outing & party with friends. Not recommended for families and who expect good foods mainly.

We booked a room for 2 adults here for a 1 night stay. The place is calm and cool with a scenic view. The room was air conditioned and consisted of an extra single bed in addition to the large double bed. We also got pool access too. The best thing is we got all these facilities for a budget price. The staff was friendly and provided with anything we needed to make our stay better. The only negative is that the TV wasn't working, apart from that all the needed facilites for the stay were provided.

Booked through Agoda. I was extremely disappointed with my stay at this property. The conditions were far below acceptable standards: • Bed: Nails sticking out of the bed frame, making it unsafe. The frame itself was dirty and dusty. • Cleanliness: Mosquitoes found sitting on the bed. The toilet and shower were filthy, with insects (centipede and cockroach) present. • Amenities: The Agoda website description did not match the actual property. You have to pay extra for pools and other facilities, but even then, the pool was dirty and unusable. • Safety & Comfort: Electricity went off randomly during the stay, adding to the discomfort. This property is not properly maintained, unhygienic, and misleadingly advertised on Agoda. I would strongly caution others before booking here. The only positive review I could think of is the location, pretty easy to find the property and is close-by to the attractions.

Swimming pool available..well maintained. Breakfast is adequate. I had the best experience staying at Gala! Great location, close to bus station but super quiet. The place itself is like an oasis. The pool is so fresh and clean. The breakfast was another highlight. I licked my fingers, so yummy! The owner connected me with local guides to experience the safari tour and Sigiriya rock sights. They were all amazing and worth while exploring. But above all, is the service of the owner and his team. I felt very cared for. I sincerely would recommend this place for solo, couple or families. The room was spotless and beautifully comfortable, the pool was pure relaxation, and the sauna was the perfect treat after a long day. Dinner was absolutely fantastic — every bite full of flavor — and the next morning’s breakfast was nothing short of fabulous, with so much variety that we couldn’t resist trying everything (and yes, we loved it all!). What truly sets this hotel apart is the people. The staff, along with the wonderful owner, Mr. Chandima, were incredibly friendly and welcoming, treating us like part of their own family. If you’re visiting Dambulla, I highly recommend staying here. Come, experience it yourself, and you’ll see exactly why this has become my favorite hotel from now on! 😀

We had an amazing stay at Hotel Gala Addara, hosted by the humble and caring Chandima. The Airbnb is surrounded by lush greenery, with a pool, jacuzzi, and sauna — perfect to relax after climbing Sigiriya Lion Rock. Our room was quiet with large windows letting in the sunrise, making it feel like a mini forest. The highlight was breakfast: Chandima and his family prepared a huge, delicious spread with hoppers, dal, chili chutney, omelettes, sandwiches, fruits, and more. Everything was cooked with love, and we’d happily return just for it. We will definitely visit this Airbnb in Dambulla again!

I recently stayed at Hotel Gala Addara in Dambulla for two nights, and it was truly a fantastic experience! The hotel is just a short distance from Dambulla city, yet the setting is incredibly peaceful and quiet—a perfect escape from the bustle of city life. Surrounded by lush greenery and small trees, the atmosphere feels like a secluded forest retreat, making it hard to believe you’re so close to town. The small swimming pool was a lovely feature, perfect for a refreshing dip after exploring. There’s also a cozy open-air restaurant where you can enjoy your meals while soaking in the sounds and sights of nature—it really enhances the overall experience. The breakfast was outstanding, with a variety of delicious options to suit different tastes. The host and staff were extremely friendly, welcoming, and genuinely went out of their way to ensure we had everything we needed. Their hospitality made our stay even more enjoyable, and we felt warmly cared for. Hotel Gala Addara is also an ideal base if you're planning to visit nearby attractions like the iconic Sigiriya Rock Fortress, Dambulla Cave Temple, and Pidurangala Rock, which are all easily accessible. This place has a natural, resort-like feel, which adds to the charm and makes it perfect for anyone seeking a relaxing and rejuvenating stay. I highly recommend this place to anyone visiting the area. It's a gem of a hotel, blending nature and comfort wonderfully!

A Tranquil Nature Retreat Recently, I had the privilege of staying at Vihanga Village Dambulla, an unforgettable experience. This picturesque property is situated amidst nature, providing the ideal escape for those seeking tranquility and relaxation. You'll regret if you didn't stay at Vihanga Village. It's a massive land with few chalets built among so many trees and vines, it feels like staying in the middle of a jungle 😍 Food is home made and so delicious. The family who runs and owns it make the food themselves and they make you feel at home. 10/10 would recommend this place. Completely worth the money. Rustic, charming and perfect for an escape from the city.

Vihanga Village was a beautiful place to stay! Originally booked with Expedia, but when we arrived in Sri Lanka, we found out that Expedia's booking was not valid. Vihanga Village was able to help us and provide accomodations very last minute, they were great! The host was very helpful and the team made us feel at home. The room was large and clean and the food was amazing. I highly recommend Vihanga Village to anyone visiting in Dambulla.

It’s an incredible place truly surrounded by nature and silence. I would say it was one of the best place which we rent in Sri Lanka 😍 Although the house is located in the forest, it is not far to go to the city: near 25min by foot or 5min by Tuk-Tuk. The owner is super friendly and helped us with all questions. The breakfast was really tasty 😋 The room with open bathroom was super interesting and good experience. It’s turned to be more comfortable then I expected. Regarding Internet: we had our mobile net normal quality outside the room and the WiFi is present in specific point in the restaurant (1min from room) The one thing I regret about , it’s not to rent it for longer stay. Hope to back one more time again

Living in comfortable houses right in the middle of a pristine forest, seeing wildlife but having all the comforts of a proper home. We stayed here for 2 days and absolutely loved every aspect of it. Special thanks to the family hosting us, they helped us every step of the way with whatever we needed. Fantastic location, and the food cooked by the host was unbelievably good. Thank you so much to Vihanga and Janna for making our stay so memorable

We stayed at vihanga village for three days which was not enough actually. The place is really nice since its surrounded by nature and the rooms gave the village vibe that we miss these days living in the town with all buildings and noise. Authentic Sri Lankan food was provided which tasted like heaven, miss those meals too bad already. The cleanliness is 100 percent. I wish I could have stayed there for a month or so. The host is very friendly and he showed us around dambulla and some places we have never visited. We could stay free without any disturbance . There were so many activities in the villa , we werent bored for a second. For sure Gonna visit this place again🫶🏻

We had a quick book to stop over the night on our way from polonnaruwa. The manager Mr Anura was very friendly to arrange per our need and we had a nice family room dusted for 6 adults and 2 kids. Supper friendly staff. Food is instantly made and great taste. Highly recommend their seafood noodles and chicken fried rice.. Morning local breakfast is a delicious and good fill. You can have a walk to the lake and enjoy both evening and morning view with a cool breeze. Absolutely stunning view. Great stay worth for money and the hospitality from very friendly staff.

Disappointing Experience – Unprofessional Handling of Cancellation We had planned a family gathering and chose Nilambara Lake View in Dambulla, paying an advance to secure our reservation. Unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances, we had to cancel our plans. I promptly informed the manager, hoping for understanding and a fair resolution. Regrettably, the manager’s attitude shifted noticeably after the payment was made. He became unresponsive and dismissive, a stark contrast to his demeanor before the booking. After persistent efforts, he agreed to refund a small portion of the advance, but the amount was minimal and felt more like a token gesture than genuine assistance. What was particularly disheartening was the lack of clear communication regarding cancellation policies. There were no terms provided at the time of booking outlining the non-refundable nature of the advance. This lack of transparency left us feeling misled and disappointed. Our experience with Nilambara Lake View was marred by unprofessionalism and poor customer service. I would caution others to ensure all terms are clearly outlined and agreed upon in writing before making any payments

Extremely Disappointing Experience We had one of the worst experiences with this place. We paid an advance of LKR 25,000 to make a booking, but unfortunately had to cancel due to unforeseen circumstances. We informed the owner, Mr. Anura, well in advance, and he assured us a 100% refund after 20 days. However, after waiting patiently and following up, he suddenly refused to refund the amount. After multiple calls and lengthy discussions, he finally agreed to refund LKR 15,000, but even then, only LKR 10,000 was Refunded. This kind of behavior is not just unprofessional, it's unethical. Broken promises, constant delays, and lack of accountability made this a truly frustrating experience. Think twice before trusting this place with your money. Avoid such scammers at all costs.

Great stay! Clean and big room. Perfect location to visit Dambulla main attractions. The breakfast was simple but very nice. Very peaceful and affordable place. The owners of the homestay were very co-operative and helpful. The rooms were neat and clean. I strongly recommend to stay here. N.B.: Please try to avoid lunch and dinner at the homestay. The price of the room is affordable but the price of food is a little expensive there. Instead have your meal at outside restaurants.

Extremely close to the Dambulla Cave Temples. We were welcomed with a juice at 10pm upon arrival which was greatly appreciated. The room was okay, AC very effective and bathroom fine. The only downside was the breakfast where there was a dead fly cooked on the toasties… i lost my appetite after that. However, the coconut steamed rice thing was apparently very nice and so was the fresh fruit.

Tucked down an alley is this gem in the heart of Dambull. It was a perfect location for me allowing for easy walk to a grocery store and options for drinks and dinner. I booked this on booking.com for $19 USD a night. It was very quite, comfortable, plenty of hot water, great AC, strong WiFi and a good breakfast in the morning. The owner was very helpful with suggestions of were to eat and what to do. Very clean, would highly recommend.

The room was nice but we asked if we could stay two nights and they agreed but at the evening they told us to leave the very next day. So we cancelled our breakfast and doing the checkout they charged anyway for it under the excuse that we ordered it on the first place although we didn't have it. I wouldn't recommend it.

The owners are very kind and took care of everything: taxis to the cave temple, jeep safari for the kadulla national park, taxi to our bus. They were so helpfull! Besides that the accomodation is very clean and hygienic, with a nice breakfast!!

Room was sooooo hot. There was ac and fan but barely worked no matter the lower and higher we made it. Breakfast was pretty mediocre.. Room had no window. Lighting in the room was so poor and the room was painted horribly yellow with its poor lighting it made it a really depressing room. And it felt like an HomeStay than a hotel as no one checked in on us to change towels or clean room for three freaking days.. Wow. I had to wet a towel to wrap it around myself every night to cope with heat. We always had restless night due to the high heat.. I hated every day there but we had already paid on agoda. I think they should fix their ventilation and pay more attention to guests. Overly hated the experience. I don't recommend it all.

I had a reservation at another place not far from this location and decided it was not suitable for me. I walked over without a reservation and luckily they had space available. The price was cheaper and I felt much more at ease right away. The rooms are basic with a fan though for me I opted to pay the upgrade for the AC that was in the room as it was hot during my stay. The hot water was more like warm but being it was hot outside it wasn't an issue for me. Also you are paying a low price and should adjust your expectations based on that. As others have noted the couple who operates the place really want you to have a wonderful stay and I did during my 3 night stay.

Great hotel, very kind owners and kind brother of the owner who cares about the quested. He arranged a nice trip to sigiriya, Dambulla and other areas in the nearby for a very reasonable price. For 9$ you can get AC in your room. The area is very calm and safe. Breakfast were delicious. The only problem we faced was when we asked for help with transfer to Kandy. We asked for that because we trusted him. He’s very trustworthy person, but he got his friend to transfer us from Dambulla to Kandy. The driver didn’t tell us the price. When we reached the destination we were charged 40 000 LKR for the ride. The same route on PickMe cost 18 000 LKR. We didn’t have any stops, the distance wasn’t that long so the price was ridiculous and we would never agree for that price if we were told about it. I don’t blame the owner or her friend, I guess he didn’t even know the guy who was our driver was about to scam and overcharge us.

We have booked this accommodation especially because of the pool and didn’t regret it. It is clean and in good condition. Our room seemed to be little bit dark (even during the day and using lights) due to small window and dark walls, but it was clean and spacious. There is also hot water in a shower. Last but not least, the breakfast was amazing and pretty huge, also very diverse compared to other places. Apparently you can also have dinner there, but it was relatively expensive. The location is a real hideaway, it’s calm there but it takes some time to get there walking - the road is not in a good shape, but we managed to get there with our rented tuktuk.

Beautiful, hidden and calm little spot with the friendliest owner! Perfect if you're traveling with motorbike, tuktuk, car... (he loves motorbikes as well) but also not too far to walk from the big roads into Dambulla. The rooms are good for their price, they are clean and you can choose between AC or fan (we did fan while outside +30°C and this was doable). The beds are basic, quite hard pillows, but they do have mosquito nets so if you don't search luxury you can have a wonderful stay. Nice to walk to the cave temples. The food is not cheap but delicious! Breakfast included and also very good and plenty. I would give 4,5 stars but not possible on maps...

The host was incredibly welcoming and went above and beyond to ensure we had a fantastic stay. We had specific plans for our visit to Sigiriya, and he tailored everything to meet our needs perfectly. The tour he organized was exceptional, with stunning viewpoints we would never have found on our own, and the price was very reasonable compared to other options. Additionally, he was always available to help, whether it was taking us around Dambulla multiple times, arranging laundry, or recommending an amazing local spot for lunch that we ended up visiting repeatedly. The room was immaculate—one of the cleanest we’ve stayed in during our time in Sri Lanka—simple yet comfortable. Breakfast was flexible, changing to suit our needs, and overall a great value. This stay offered incredible service for the price. We wholeheartedly recommend it!

The host is super friendly and truly a kind man. We had very specific requests on our day trip to sigirya and he was very accommodating. The tour itself was lovely and he actually knows very good view points (for a very acceptable price compared to single rides to the town). He also offered to take us around Dambulla multiple times and for different reasons, he arranged laundry for us and gave the best recommendation to have lunch (we went back multiple times). The room itself is one of the cleanest we’ve ever found in Sri Lanka, neat and essential. Breakfast was different every day because we had different needs all the time but overall good for the price. Definitely an amazing room/service to price ratio. We immensely recommend :)

The host was very helpful and went out of his way to help us in many ways. The rooms in itself was all you need for a stay in Dambulla. It being very close to the Cave temple also helps. The breakfast served was a very good representation of the local cuisine. Highly recommend

The hosts were very welcoming and helpful since the very first moment. The room was nice and clean and they also served us a tasty breakfast. They also put us in touch with a massage place, wich turned out to be the best and cheapest massage we had in Sri Lanka. Higlhy recommended!

From the minute we entered this home, we felt right at home. We were greeted with fresh homemade juice, which was beautiful. The host chatted to us about what to do during our stay and gave really good advice on our future travel around Sri Lanka. I would definitely recommend having dinner while staying here. All the food we had while staying at this home stay was so tasty and plentiful. The dinner was actually our favourite meal we had since arriving in sri lanka. The breakfast was also very nice and very big. The rooms were spacious, clean and comfortable. There was a mosquito net and a fan in the room. The home stay is a bit outside of the town but the host offers to drop and collect you from the bus station. It is very close to the temple. This was one of our favourite stays in Sri Lanka.

One of the best places I slept in my whole life. I felt welcome to the family and I also booked a tour to the pidurangala rock and around the region with the host, which was great. Very warm and welcoming people who took great care of us. I couldn't recommend this place more. Great price, great sleep, great food.

Our stay at Menara Green Inn was fantastic! The homestay offered a clean room with a fan and a lovely outdoor area. The breakfast was delicious, and the hosts, a kind husband and wife, went above and beyond to make our stay memorable. They welcomed us with drinks, and even treated us to another juice during our stay. Plus, they were so thoughtful, taking us to their favorite restaurant in town. I would definitely recommend Menara Green Inn to anyone looking for a cozy and welcoming place to stay.
Yoëlle K — Google review
I stayed about two days with my girlfriend and we had such a good time here. There are two rooms so we don’t have the typical tourist hotel feeling, instead we lived with a very nice local family. The food they prepared for us was perfect. You can ask for transport and tours anytime, we had some great experiences there. Also the neighborhood is good, many nice people and it’s not far to the cave temple. Menara came out to play with us and in the evening Indika gave an example of his great guitar play and singing. We can totally recommend this place

I had an absolutely fantastic stay at Rich Win Villa! From the moment I arrived, I was warmly welcomed by the host, who went above and beyond to make my experience unforgettable. The hospitality was truly top-notch, and it felt like a home away from home. The room was superb—immaculately clean, cool, and very comfortable. It had everything I needed for a relaxing stay, and the attention to detail was evident. I was impressed by how well-maintained the entire villa was, which added to the overall comfort and charm of the place. One of the best parts was that the price was very reasonable, offering great value for such a high-quality experience. The peaceful atmosphere and beautiful surroundings made it an ideal retreat without breaking the bank. I would highly recommend Rich Win Villa to anyone looking for a serene and comfortable getaway. A big thank you to the host for making my stay so enjoyable. I can’t wait to visit again!

Great location, right next to Cave Temple. 10 minute walk away from the center of town. Great owners and kiddos, so friendly and loving. Padu, the little girl, drew me a bunch of pictures and taught me some words in Tamil. That melted my heart. Rooms are cozy, with fans and hot water (which is rare to find). Definetely reccomend this place, the value is insane.

One of the worst places I’ve stayed at. I’ve visited many villas, but this was by far the worst experience. I went on vacation with my friends, and although we provided all the rations—more than they even requested—the meals were extremely disappointing. Every meal had issues: some dishes were overcooked or burnt, while others were so salty they were inedible. The rice was overcooked and mushy. The chef constantly made excuses for the poor quality, and when we asked him to prepare food according to our preferences, he ignored our requests and cooked whatever he wanted. On top of that, the chef was very rude and uncooperative. The place itself was nice and peaceful, and the helper was courteous and helpful. However, I’m not sure if the owner is even aware of what’s going on. We specifically chose a villa to enjoy a homely stay and meals of our choice, without the need to go to a hotel—but here, that expectation turned into a major problem. Unfortunately, I would not recommend this villa based on our experience. Waste of Money

Me and my family stayed at this extra ordinary sanctuary for almost 4 days . It wsd a very pleasant stay. Food was amazing and the picnic was awesome. We even saw elephants in the evening and it was magical .

Thank you for taking the time to respond to our review and for acknowledging our experience. While we appreciate your apology and that disciplinary action is being considered for staff, we believe the issues go beyond individual staff performance and point to serious gaps in management and planning. Firstly, the power cut was a known event announced by the CEB well in advance. As management, it’s your responsibility to be prepared for such situations, especially when hosting guests. Instead, the generator was only attempted to be started more than an hour after we informed you, and then it turned out the generator battery was dead. It ultimately took over four hours from when we informed you until power was restored, which shows a clear lack of readiness for expected situations. Secondly, we observed that the villa was staffed with only two people to handle everything, including the chef, who had no helpers. This inevitably affects the quality and timeliness of the meals, and it shouldn’t happen when guests are paying a premium expecting a relaxing stay. Lastly, a suggestion: it might be fairer to have different rates for dry and wet seasons, because during the dry season the villa loses much of the scenic value that’s being marketed. We truly hope management looks deeper into these structural issues not just staff behavior so that future guests can have a better experience. A member of the group who stayed last weekend.
Yasiru L — Google review
Beautiful view and a calm place with tree houses and so many places to chill . We really had a great time at the Villa . Definitely will return again . Thank you for the amazing hospitality and delicious SriLankan cuisine .
Micah — Google review
Stayed at this villa for two nights with a group of 10 people, paying LKR 75,000 per day. While we were expecting a premium experience based on the pictures and price, the stay ended up being quite disappointing overall. Pros: Spacious outdoor area with BBQ/firepit. Decent space for group activities. Lake view available during some months. Cons: Power outage on last day, only fans/outlets worked — no AC. Food was terrible — even basic dishes were poorly made. Chef had a bad attitude and ignored special requests. Overall not worth the price — felt like a scam. Make sure to video call and confirm everything before booking any villa, not just this one. Depending on the season (dry vs rainy), the surroundings and lake view can differ significantly. This villa was a letdown for us, and unfortunately, we walked away feeling scammed rather than refreshed.

Absolutely Disappointed, A Trip We Regret. I rarely leave negative reviews, but this experience deserves to be shared so others don’t go through the same. From the moment we arrived, it was clear this was not the relaxing, enjoyable stay we were hoping for. Despite bringing everything the villa requested, rations, supplies, and more, we were met with constant issues. The food was a complete disaster: overcooked, overly salty, and inedible at times. Worse, when we politely asked for changes, the chef ignored our requests and did whatever he pleased. His attitude was shockingly rude and unprofessional. The villa itself may look peaceful, but there was no proper planning for power cuts and to our disbelief, some of our items were given away before we even checked out. We spent a lot on the villa, on food, and most importantly, our time. All of it felt completely wasted. It’s unfortunate that a place with so much potential is being run so poorly. Would I recommend this villa? Absolutely not. I hope this review helps someone else make a better choice.
Dumindu S — Google review
We Were Robbed — Not Just of Money, But of Peace”- This trip was supposed to be a break. It ended up being a full-blown nightmare. The chef failed every single meal. Not one dish was enjoyable. They used only half our ingredients, then wasted the rest. Items went missing. Basic instructions were ignored. Power cut happened - nothing was planned ahead to make our stay better. Was asking us what to do? As if we were on a chairty trip When questioned about things, We were disrespected to our face with smirks and shruggings. And to top it off, they gave away our stuff before we even left. Don’t just avoid this villa. Warn others. Because no one deserves to spend this much money to feel so insulted. Totally wasted 150k on villa, nearly 35k on food, peace of mind and our precious time off from work

Guests praise the clean rooms and serene environment, where they wake up to the sounds of nature and may even spot monkeys. The staff, led by Mr. Kasun, is commended for their friendliness and exceptional service.
Our recent stay at Kalundewa Eco Village was nothing short of spectacular. From the moment we arrived, it was evident that this was more than just an accommodation—it was an experience carefully crafted to rejuvenate and inspire. The cozy family room was a haven of comfort, thoughtfully designed to blend modern amenities with natural charm. Waking up to the serene sounds of nature and the soft morning light streaming through the windows was truly magical. The food was another highlight of our visit. Every meal was a delightful showcase of local flavors, prepared with love and served with impeccable attention to detail, including less spicy dishes crafted perfectly for our kids' palates. The authentic Sri Lankan dishes served were really delicious. The natural surroundings of the property are breathtakingly beautiful. Kalundewa Eco Village provides the ideal setting to unwind and reconnect with nature. A special mention goes to the owner, Kasun, whose hospitality elevated our experience to a whole new level. His warm and welcoming nature, combined with his genuine passion for providing an exceptional guest experience, made us feel right at home. Kasun’s attentiveness and personal touch were the cherry on top of an already unforgettable stay. Kalundewa Eco Village is a gem that offers peace, comfort, and a chance to savor the best of Sri Lanka’s natural beauty and culture. We can’t wait to return!

Our stay at Eco Village Kalundewa was wonderful, alongside the warmth hospitality. The rooms were well-maintained and clean. Quite a natural setting and you can walk around the locality during your stay. Our meals were served in the outdoor area, under the stars and that was delightful.

No words can describe the experience you get for the little amount you pay! The rooms are extremely clean, a true hidden gem where you wake up to the sound of the lush greenery. You get to see some monkeys passing by. Kasun and the staff are absolutely friendly and always provided everything we needed and more. He gave us advice on where to visit and what to do according to the best time of the day. He prepared a private candle lit bbq dinner for my husband and I, with a bonfire. He showed us around all the amazing fruit trees they had (which they also served freshly for breakfast). They prepared tea in a coconut cup! Everything is priced reasonably and the value for money is WAY beyond expectations!

Had a wonderful experience at Eco Village, definitely recommend it to anyone without hesitation. The place is just like in the pictures and more. It is a really calm environment with lots of space to play and lot of seating area to relax as well. The caretaker, Kasun, is very nice and polite and is an amazing cook as well. The prices are very reasonable too and the rooms are very nice and clean. If you're looking for a private place to have fun with family and friends, you should definitely come here.

Had a wonderful experience at Eco Village Kaludewa. The caretaker (Kasun) was very friendly & welcoming. The food is excellent, we got a wonderful outdoor dinner which was the highlight of the stay. They have a mango, cinnamon, vegetable & coconut farms. If you are lucky you will get the chance to pick fresh mangoes from the trees for free ;) We loved our stay & would go back there definitely next time. Thank you so much for the service & keep it up.

We had an amazing stay at the Eco Village. The room is beautiful—you wake up to nothing but the sound of the surrounding jungle. We’ll come again!

Wonderful local experience. You’re welcomed by this always-smiling family, who are eager to help with any request. The room is cozy and comfortable. A highlight is the “grandfather” who takes you around in a tuk-tuk at a much better price than many others. I highly recommend going with them to Sigiriya and Pidurangala. Breakfast is excellent too, with local foods. The only downside for light sleepers is that outside sounds are quite noticeable. Highly recommended for anyone wanting a truly authentic Sri Lankan experience with this fantastic family. I’ll miss you all!

(Translated by Google) I booked this hotel in Dambulla through Booking.com for my trip to Sri Lanka. A few days before I stayed at this hotel, the hotel said, ``We would like to cancel your reservation for the day you come.We will not be at the hotel on the day you come. I received a message saying, ``I have to go because I have something to do in town.'' I received a reservation confirmation email from Booking.com. Due to the unreservable message a few days ago, we looked for another accommodation and changed the private transfer pick-up and drop from Kandy to this hotel (Dambulla) & from this hotel (Dambulla) to Sigiriya, which would incur additional charges. It took a lot of work. The hotel told us that transportation was not their concern. This is a very unfriendly hotel.
