Located on the golden sands of Perranporth beach in Cornwall, The Watering Hole is a popular family and dog-friendly beach bar and restaurant. It offers a simple menu featuring burgers, snacks, and pies along with a wide selection of local beers, wines, spirits, and soft drinks. Visitors can enjoy stunning sea views from the terrace while sipping on hot drinks or sundowners.
This place is fantastic it’s like being abroad but they speak English and the money is easy to use( not euros 🤣)food and cakes are great. It’s such a great relaxed atmosphere to sit and while away the hours. This is the fifth year of coming here LOVE IT 👍🏻👍🏻

The Watering Hole is a nice bar in the middle of Peranporth Bay Beach with plenty of seating both in and outside. It faces towards some amazing cliff arches that you can walk through to other arches, Caves and another part of the beach. The beach itself is patrolled by Lifeguards and is child friendly where the water comes in as the tide goes out far. Many people bring beach tents and wind breaks. However the seagulls are a menace and will have your food in a blink of an eye if you are careless.
Jay M — Google review
Amazing bar and restaurant on the beach! A must when in Cornwall. Friendly staff, good quality cocktails and tasty squid and nachos which are fair portions. Live music acts!
TS I — Google review
Great location on Perranporth beach, the addition of the upstairs terrace is brilliant! Great choice of beer and drinks. Good is ordered and collected from dedicated points, which is good. Food was good, not a lot of choice but value for money Staff were so great. Definitely worth a visit.
Tony B — Google review
The Watering Hole on Perranporth beach is a popular spot. At high tide the sea comes very close to the large outdoor seating area. It frequently has live music events to which dogs are not welcome but are welcome at all other times. There are bars upstairs and downstairs with a large veranda. The newly built extension contains public toilets and an outdoor shower for beach goers. I have docked one star only for the fact that customers need a fat wallet when visiting. It is far from cheap. A simple Doombar will cost £5.30 per pint. There are other bars close to the beach but they also are not cheap. Overall the Watering Hole is a great asset to the beach, as a local I just wish it was more affordable. Great for holiday makers for food and drink, pleasant views and dog friendly. Just make sure you have plenty of money.
Ray B — Google review
The Nest is a fantastic new addition perched right above The Wateringhole, sitting quite literally on Perranporth beach. It offers a perfect mix of relaxed dining and lively nightlife, making it a must-visit spot whether you’re in for a chilled afternoon or a buzzing evening out. Downstairs, you can grab crowd-pleasers like pizza and burgers — great beachside comfort food that hits the spot. But the real gem is upstairs: the rooftop bar. The vibes are brilliant, with a laid-back coastal feel during the day and a lively energy at night when the DJ takes over. Cocktails are a highlight here — creative, refreshing, and beautifully made, they’re exactly what you want to sip while watching the sun dip into the Atlantic. Combined with the views and atmosphere, it’s hard to beat. Overall, The Nest nails that balance of casual dining and rooftop sophistication, making it one of the best places to eat, drink, and unwind in Perranporth. Highly recommended!

The Watering Hole: Where the Sun Sets, the Cider Flows, and Even the Dogs Look Chuffed With Themselves The Watering Hole on Perranporth Beach is one of those places that somehow manages to feel both legendary and completely relaxed at the same time, and it lives up to its name every single time we visit. You don’t just go to the Watering Hole; you experience it. And you usually leave a little happier (and a little more full) than when you arrived. First off, the drinks. The ales are proper, the famous Rattler cider does exactly what it promises (in that slightly “woah, that’s stronger than I thought” kind of way), and everything feels fresh, well-kept, and served with a smile. If you’re after a beachside pint, you’re in the right place , no question. The food is exactly what you want from a place like this, tasty, fast, no-nonsense dishes you can happily enjoy either perched outside with the sea breeze in your hair or inside where it’s warm and full of atmosphere. Good mix of quick bites and satisfying plates, nothing too fussy, just reliably good. And the setting? Honestly unbeatable. On a proper summer’s evening, sat outside gazing out as the sun sets over the sand, drink in hand, it’s like someone designed it specifically for Instagram (and your soul). Even when the Cornish weather decides to misbehave, inside is still brilliant, cosy but lively, with sports on the screens if that’s your thing, plenty of space to eat, chat, and soak up the vibe. And of course, the dogs. The Watering Hole is fully dog-friendly, which means you can bring your furry mate along and nobody bats an eyelid when they park themselves under your table looking smug. So if you find yourself on Perranporth Beach and fancy great drinks, tasty food, friendly staff, and a view that will make you wonder why you don’t move here full-time… The Watering Hole is waiting. Legendary by name, legendary by nature.

Theaters
The Hall for Cornwall, also known as the HFC, is a renowned theatre in Truro that offers a diverse range of live performances including music, drama, dance, and comedy. Since its conversion in 1997, it has been captivating audiences with international touring productions and an annual panto. Originally Truro's Market House in the 18th century and later transformed into the City Hall, this historic venue now hosts a variety of shows from stand-up comedy to family-friendly musicals.
Staff were amazing when we came in with my mum who has lost her vision. They were very attentive and helpful. A lovely woman came up to us throughout the concert and checked in to see if there was anything they could help with. Thank you to the lovely staff working the waterboys show!!
Nina B — Google review
Brilliant little venue with lots of local parking, warm friendly staff and some great acts, well worth a visit. Handy little 'spoons over the road too for those cheap pre show drinks. 😉🙂
Jeff R — Google review
I really enjoyed seeing a show here. As an agoraphobic I was worried but we were directed our seats, it was easy to find the toilets and exits and even though we had balcony seats I could see the stage without needing my long distance glasses. I'd happily go again, even on my own now! Very relaxed and friendly atmosphere.
Saranne H — Google review
The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, the venue was very clean and well set out. There appeared to be mixed feelings of the unisex toilets, lots of comments from both men and women of how uncomfortable they felt. I am not sure I am a fan of the pre-ordered drinks being lined up on a long table with your name under, it's not clear how long they had been there, I won't be using that service again. Overall a wonderful evening was had

We went to see Derren Brown... It was fantastic.... Not allowed to say more except he blows your mind! Hall for Cornwall is a beautiful building in centre square of Truro. Will defoe go there more often. Staff friendly, organised. Shops all around you. Cathedral right there. Cobbled roads which get slippery when wet, where good walking shoes. Best way to get there is use park & ride. Cheap fares, discounts on group tickets, buses run every 15mins, loads of parking, not busy even for Saturday afternoon. It's easy to find park & ride on Google maps, takes you straight there. Had best day. Fabulous time had by all family.
Tina L — Google review
It's always a pleasure to visit the Hall for Cornwall in Truro. A wonderful venue to stage some amazing plays, musicals and more. Check their website for upcoming events. I have to make a special mention for the unpaid volunteer ushers, on whom, the theatre depends. Well done ladies and gents!
Les P — Google review
Gold star to Ben from the access team for providing such helpful information on the phone & in person when I went to view the wheelchair spaces available, nothing was too much trouble. Booking is available online, in person & over the phone. The website offers wheelchair space dimensions for each seat space, which for someone like me (arctic lorry length) is much appreciated. The building itself clearly benefited from feedback from the disabled community. Large, open spaces in corridors & the cafe. Personally I would have liked to see more disabled spaces available, especially near the front of the stage, especially as this venue holds music events where the public could stand, totally blocking the view. The changing places toilet isn't the largest, but it does get plenty of green ticks for keeping the hoist fully charged, red cord hanging to ground level etc. If you like audio description with your toileting, you are in luck! My only other feedback would be to add the lift dimensions, although then Ben & I wouldn't have had such a lovely chat, who made me feel very welcome ;)
Kate R — Google review
As always, a great experience. The volunteers are really helpful and the seats comfortable. Views are good from all seats

Nestled beside the stunning Porthtowan Beach, the Blue Bar is a charming shabby-chic retreat that invites you to unwind and disconnect from the digital world. With no phone signal in sight, it’s an ideal spot for those looking to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life. This laid-back bar attracts surfers and beachgoers alike, who enjoy sipping cider under the sun while listening to soothing acoustic tunes.
Great location, overlooking the sea. One of my favourite bars, with a good atmosphere. Plenty of seating inside and out. The best dirty fries! The food and drink are not the cheapest, but the views make up for it. Great place for watching the sunset.
Kathryn A — Google review
Incredible vegan options, right by the beach. We came here after we saw amazing reviews about the smash burgers and loaded fries but they also have a specials board offering Cajun tofu skewers. Thank you Blue Bar team for your creative vegan cooking, highly recommend to anyone visiting - we were a group of 2 vegans and a meat eater and everyone was happy. 10/10.
Jess — Google review
Excellent pit-stop in a great location. Visited end of April 2025: not empty, but more than pleasant both at the Blue Bar and on the beach. (There's still ample public parking nearby.)
Hugh R — Google review
Amazing place! Beautiful beach view, especially at sunset. Great vibes, tasty Buddha Bowl with chicken & carrot hummus, and the baked feta with honey was fantastic. Highly recommend!
Vicky B — Google review
Came for brunch, absolute gem of a restaurant, we ordered two breakfast items, sausage and egg muffin and huervos rancheros. Perfect sea view beach bar, great food, warm hospitality and great prices. We intend on returning again!
Jade W — Google review
We visit the Blue Bar regularly, and it is a fantastic place, winter or summer, almost on the beach, with the most amazing views. The food is fantastic; I highly recommend the nachos. The service is superb, with very friendly, polite staff, and a good selection of beers. The coffee is great, and I will definitely continue to visit the Blue Bar. Porthtowan is a great place to go. Cheers, Vince.
Vince S — Google review
Great view over the bay (even better from a window seat) food was fresh and hot but limited menu. Service was good but the decor inside looks tired and could do with a spruce up.

Great place by the beach to have a meal or a drink. The food was delicious and the views were amazing at sunset! Atmosphere and service were great too! Couldn’t ask for more. Vegan options too for those that way inclined 🌱

The Pandora Inn, located near Penryn on the Restronguet Hill, is a charming creekside establishment offering a quintessential Cornish pub experience. Its picturesque setting along the River Fal and Carrick Roads estuary makes it one of the top 10 riverside pub gardens in the UK. The inn's historic ambiance, with low-beamed ceilings and flagstone floors, creates a timeless feel complemented by modern comforts and sumptuous cuisine.
One of two of my favourite "go to" pubs in the area if friends or family are visiting. Food is good. Bar snacks excellent. Location is FAB. We often get a bowl of mussels to share. Don't forget to check out the model ship near the gents and the history relating to the Mutiny on the Bounty. Recommended. Have been coming here since 1989.

The views and vibes of this place are stunning. The food was scrumptious with some good vegetarian options as well. Old world charm at its best!
Nam — Google review
The view really makes this place. Sitting out on the pontoon over the water looking out across all the boats. A steep road to get down to the pub. There’s also limited parking. Alternatively, you can moor up alongside the pontoon. There’s lots of spaces especially at high tide. Food is good with great variety. I had the mussels for my main meal and it was more than large enough and at an amazing price. We ordered some onion rings and they were very greasy. Apparently the same with the fish and chips but that was the only slight complaint. We came for late lunch and it was very popular. Nice place with great views.
R. G — Google review
A landmark / destination pub. Long pontoon on the creek - unique and superb location for a summers days. Food was excellent and the service too from friendly and very hard working staff. Superb in every way - a magical pub experience. Food was excellent value for money also - big portions and delicious
Rob P — Google review
Clearly a very busy pub in the high summer but really worth a visit. The while team are a credit to the publican. Good value and delicious food enjoyed in a stunning and historical situation. @falriver now taking guests by ferry so worth checking out their web site for details
Tim L — Google review
Stopped off for coffee and sones and was not disappointed. The food i saw being served looked delicious. The stagg were friendly and welcoming. Seat was onside and our, with the latter being on a wooden pier over the water. The history of the old pub was on display and interesting. Well worth a visit.
Dave B — Google review
A wonderful place to visit. We were given a sneak peek at the Specials, so waited 20 mins for it to be officially posted. Food was great, service was great. We ate inside as it was rainy, but would love to eat on their outside area as it is a pontoon out into the river! How cool/exciting is that?
Andy H — Google review
Love, love this pub, visit more often in summer by boat but winter park up near by and walk down for Sunday roast and what a roast…….best roast around, super tasty and fresh produce. Staff super friendly and always accommodating even at their busiest times. Nothing else to say as up there as the best.

The Sloop Inn is a harbourside 14th-century pub in Cornwall, boasting simple and modern rooms with flat-screen TVs. While its claim to be one of Cornwall's oldest inns dating from 1312 is unverified, the present building dates back to the 17th-18th century. The interior exudes an atmospheric charm with low beamed ceilings and slate floors, creating a cozy ambiance.
A lively seaside bar with every table at the entrance fully occupied. As we walked in, both the staff and customers were warm and welcoming, giving the place a strong local pub vibe. We ordered the seafood platter and chips, and the mussels were so delicious that we ended up ordering an extra portion. The ingredients were fresh, the portions generous, and overall it offered great value for money. To our surprise, it turned out to be the most satisfying dinner of our trip. Highly recommended!

One of the best pubs in St Ives, gorgeous location overlooking the harbour beach in the sunshine watching the world go by and the seagulls. Then step inside to the cosy bar with low ceilings, friendly staff, good food and a lovely atmosphere. The steak deal was fantastic with a free bottle of wine and so delicious, cooked to perfection. Would highly recommend. St Ives and Carbis Bay absolutely gorgeous. X
Sarah G — Google review
We came here to meet friends, the wine was lovely , the staff are friendly and the service is very good. Guinness was very nice 👌 Stunning views and managed to get a table outside eventually. We didn't mind sitting inside too. We ate here 4 years ago and it was delicious. We didn't eat here this time but the food that went past looked amazing and smelt so good Highly recommend a visit when in St Ives.
Julie — Google review
The pub is awesome, food and drinks. In our opinion one of the best to get delicious seafood. We had great lobsters and other seafood several times there. Thank you so much!
Matthias W — Google review
We've stayed here before it's a great location with parking is off site but nearby. The room we stayed in was clean with lovely views and a slightly sloping floor. The floor made the bed slope and it was disconcerting to find yourself nearly falling out! The shower was lovely but they do not supply shower gel. There was too much furniture in the room and a tricky staircase to use. It's an old building with lots of quirks but the bed needed levelling. The food in the pub was great. We would stay again but not in that room.
Janet L — Google review
A popular spot for both tourists and locals. They have a wide selection of beers at reasonable prices. The Rattler on tap is also a big bonus!
James — Google review
The mussels were great. Plump and perfectly cooked. The crab linguine was very disappointing. Bland and over cooked. The overbearing signs about glassware spoil the feel outside.

Located in the peaceful Parish of St Kew, the St Kew Inn is a charming historic pub that exudes quintessential English countryside charm. Dating back to the 15th century, this stone-built establishment boasts original Renaissance-era features such as low-beamed ceilings and grand open fireplaces. The inn offers a wide selection of wines and seasonal beers, along with several dining rooms and secluded garden spots for patrons to enjoy.
This Inn serves excellent food in a beautiful location and has now gone on my favourites list. I am allergic to Rapeseed Oil and Shellfish and my dietary needs were completely catered for without fuss. The serving team were friendly, helpful and professional. I have recommended it to several people.
Stevie W — Google review
One of the nicest pubs I've been to recently, full of character and with great food. The staff are also really good, attentive and patient. The burger isnt great, too many toppings that don't work together. Other than that, the rest of the menu was amazing, and the homemade "bounty" dessert was probably the best dessert I've ever had.
Sam H — Google review
A beautiful Cornish pub off the beaten track. The Sunday roasts were exceptional – hot, tasty, and plentiful. The meat melted in your mouth. It wasn’t a case of quantity over quality – it was both quality and quantity. The dessert options were spot on and rounded off a perfect Sunday lunch. Service was fantastic – unbelievably accommodating of a food intolerance, with staff going above and beyond to make substitutions as if it were no bother at all. A must-visit. We’ll definitely be back!
Henrietta W — Google review
As always we had a great time at St Kew Inn ( do you hear a but coming?) BUT the owners need to be so much better on their menu in terms of allergen information. The pasta dish has no mention of gluten and another dish which mentioned clotted cream as a sauce is listed as dairy free! Come on, we all deserve a bit better
Andy W — Google review
We had heard about the excellent food at this pub and we called in last year. As we are staying in Chapel Amble we planned to go for a meal here. Finally made it on a Saturday night. I’m glad we booked, it was so busy however because of the layout of the pub it didn’t feel packed. The pub itself is stunning. A lovely quaint building but so cosy. We were welcomed as soon as we stepped through the door and shown to our table. We were offered sparkling, still or tap water immediately. We had our menus and drinks orders were taken quickly. A very special mention for the staff who were brilliant. We all order the rump steak and it said it came with mushroom, tapenade, baby gem and chunky chips. WOW! What we got was a total taste experience. The steak was cooked perfectly (for 3 of us- medium rare). Mum felt hers was a bit too rare and the staff whisked it away and shortly bought a new steak, fresh chips and were so attentive. Fabulous service. I have to say, it really was amazing. The steak was succulent and so tasty, the mushrooms smoked and topped with something that tasted fabulous but we couldn’t agree what it was! The tomato and garlic tapenade was a taste revelation, and we would like the recipe. It was fresh and so packed with tomato flavour. The baby gem- sounds simple, but was half a gem lettuce topped with freshly grated Parmesan and sprinkles of tasty crunchy onions. The chips were worth the visit alone; seasoned with some secret recipe that was unique and sooooo good. And the “cowboy” butter, was a sauce made with magic. Again, I have no idea what is in it but boy it was fabulous. The cost, a very reasonable £27! We are from Birmingham, we have Michelin starred restaurants that couldn’t do a steak as well as this. And it wasn’t just the steak, every element was a triumph. I’ve eaten some fabulous food, from all over the world but this, for a pub in a tiny village in the middle of nowhere….. was just amazing. Seriously if you are anywhere near this pub, or even if you’re not, it is a must! Stunning, amazing, brilliant and very clever. A meal none of us will forget in a hurray. We will be going back. Please give this place a try. And a quick note, we stopped in for drinks previously and the home made treats were so tasty too! Thank you St Kew Inn.
Victoria B — Google review
Called in without a booking and four of us given a Table right away. Food brilliant, including the best Steak I’ve ever had in a restaurant. Staff great. Lovely location too, with the added bonus of Hugo the resident Lab.

We went there Tuesday 7th October for a meal, were greeted with smiles and a warm welcome, seated in the dining room a beautifully lit room, a beer of Proper Job and honestly the best fish and chips I’ve ever had! Made haste and go there asap…

Belushi's Newquay is a lively chain bar with a prime location on a cliff top overlooking Towan Bay, making it the perfect spot to enjoy buzzing atmosphere and spectacular ocean views. This beachside venue offers live entertainment, music, and delicious global comfort food. It's an ideal place for sports enthusiasts with its complete sports TV package, 13 big screen TVs, and a large HD projector.
Visited here at lunch time and had some amazing food with beautiful views! Service was excellent, easy to order and came quickly. We sat outside which unfortunately attracted some seagulls, but of course can’t be helped.

Great view from the booths inside into the bay. Too windy to sit on the outside terrace with sea goews but would be great in nice weather. The courtyard was protected with plenty of people sat out on a dry sunny day. Drinks would be great value 4pm-8pm, we were too early to take advantage of the offer. Service was great. Food was good.

great atmosphere with multiple tv screens offering different programs, you can order via the website or traditionally on site, sit inside or outside with views of the beach and heating units for the evening. food arrives fast and tastes great as well

This was our second highly anticipated visit and what a let down it was. On arrival no one welcome us, so after waiting around we decided to find ourselves a table. We then asked the waitress if we can choose this table and she said yes no problem she’ll be back to clear the rest of the table as she took the plates away. We stood around for near on 10 minutes waiting, until my partner decided to clear the rest of the table, wipe the table down and clean the floor of food as we had our dog with us. It wasn’t table service so we went to the bar and ordered. We were not made aware of the 241 cocktail deal so we had paid full price and only received 1 cocktail, to which we realised this on departure. When our food arrived, the same waitress brought it out who was on the phone. No recognition of us sorting the table ourselves. The food was as good as we remembered. We had a lovely sea view, however the music did not need to be as loud as it was and unfortunately the service was diabolical. Great burgers but not great service.

Portion size and price are great. Also have seating with lovely views and really nice atmosphere. Went for lunch but also looks like a really fun place for evening drinks. Got the chicken Cesar salad which although is in the lighter bite section was a pretty big portion and delicious! My partner had the vegan quesadillas and chips which were also really good. Recommend this restaurant.

I'd say it's a venue for teens, very sticky floor with a strong smell of spilt liqueur. Didn't try the food as it was not a location I wanted too. They do some amazing deals like unlimited hot wings and great prices on drinks in happy hour, great friendly staff. Just not for me. Bonus is they're dog friendly

Booked a table for birthday meal, on arrival no one around to serve at the bar when someone eventually came to the bar said oh I haven't started work yet I can't help you, we said well we have a booking so he told us what table to go to, did not show us there!! We walked over and the table was not cleaned still had food droppings all over it not what I would call a great experience, Online food order doesn't have kids menu so had to go bar again 2 staff standing talking not even acknowledging I'm waiting very very poor customer service after they finished their chat the girl did say thank you for waiting but there was no need for the wait!! Food came out I must say the burgers were really nice very tasty they were pretty much thrown at us may I had but chips were cold, we finished up and left, only plus point was burgers were good and the views fantastic staff let this place down We are not holiday makers either we live in Cornwall

The Working Boat, located on Greenbank Road, offers a quintessential pub experience with a waterfront setting and dog-friendly atmosphere. The pub serves its own brew along with 15 beers and ciders on tap, complemented by picturesque harbor views. The menu features tasting platters, small dishes like smoked mackerel salad and crispy chilli prawns, as well as griddled dishes such as barbecue steak and burgers.
Absolutely fantastic !!! Seriously the best roast dinner in Falmouth. Staff are amazing. 🤩 The food itself, I am extremely critical of Sunday roasts, as you will see from some of my other reviews. So when I say that this is the best roast, in Falmouth, it comes from a place of experience. The Yorkshire pudding, incredible freshly cooked, you can tell. Some of the restaurants in Falmouth will cook them probably the day before and you can taste that they have been.. the roast potatoes !!!! absolutely delicious, full of flavour and beautifully cooked. The meat the beef is real beef none of this stuck together crap that you get in some of the other restaurants in Falmouth. This was beautiful beef cooked splendidly. The chicken was moist and full of flavour 😊 The gravy !!!!!! Now that is worth a special mention. I have not had proper chicken gravy for a very long time. This is proper stuff clearly cooked with the chicken/ Beef stock and the flavour is exquisite.. Vegetables served separately and cooked perfectly. Everything was piping hot and you could tell everything was Fresh !!!!!! How you want a roast to be 💝 We have booked for next week and we will be there every Sunday now till the spring time. 💝💝💝 thank you 🤩 Please look after you chefs, cherish them they are worth every penny xxx

Have stayed at the greenbank before and was unable yongey a table, now we have finaly eatern you can undetstand why! WoW great food and a service to match, at a super price, gamon was the the chefs choice today, so had to irder both the beef and gamon, and i was disappointed, the plates came out full of meat and potatoes and then 2 big bowls of veg came as well, too make it even better you only had to ask for more and they were only too happy to bring you another bowl of veg, drinks choices is wide with some goid beers and largers, aling with many choices of wines, gteat place to come if you have dogs, as what i observed was first rate to accomadate customers who had there dogs with them.

Stopped in for an evening meal and had a great time! Great service, wonderful views over the harbour (we even saw a seal bobbing around) and interesting menu. I had the catch of the day and my husband had a burger - both delicious. Dessert was a sticky toffee banana pudding (all the dessert buzzwords) with custard and was fab. Would highly recommend for pub grub, their excellent reputation is well deserved.

This is one of the nicest places I've been. The Working Boat is in the Green Bank Hotel with amazing food, a great selection of beers, and a really nice atmosphere. Very friendly bar staff and waitresses and waiters. The views are absolutely beautiful, overlooking Falmouth Harbour. I have been a few times and have never been disappointed. You do not have to be staying at the Green Bank Hotel to use The Working Boat. It is a very relaxing place to eat and drink with many bonuses. Absolutely love this place ❤️ Cheers, Vince.

The service here is amazing! We had two lovely people I believe their names are Jessica and Roz! So friendly. Made sure the food was perfect for us! Even brought us extra gravy. Freddie was a laugh too! Got us drinks sorted right away! The roast was next to none other. It was amazing. Great portion sizes. I love how it’s plated so you can choose the veggies you want! And offer more if you need more! Will be coming back. Was delicious. Thank you all.

Pub
The Old Ale House, located in Truro, Cornwall, is a dark-wood haunt with beer-barrel tables offering house brews, flights, and tasting events. It's known for its live music scene featuring local talent and hosts jam nights every Monday as well as comedy nights and quiz nights. The bar by local brewery Skinners makes it a starting point for beer lovers while also offering a selection of wines and an elegant yet relaxed cocktail bar called On The Rocks.
A great place. I tend to pop in when I'm in Truro. USP = monkey huts in a barrel! Pick up a handful and cast the shells on the floor (this is encouraged). A great pub
TGG — Google review
Big and brash on the outside with lovely hanging baskets.....but it flatters to deceive! Inside, it's unimaginative and dark and dingy, and both the real ale and the lager were warm and not very palatable. Sad really because there aren't many pubs that serve Bass these days. They also tried to make it feel and look like a spit and sawdust pub by sprinkling sawdust on the floor....it didn'twork though. Nice clean toilets, though!!
Colin B — Google review
There was a good vibe, plenty of people in the pub. It's a popular pub, and I can see why. There is live music several times a week, gigs, open mics. I don't have any food, so can't comment. Its very much like an old style pub, sawdust on the floor. Low lighting, benches round tables, and lots of tables. Lots of wood, proper wood.
Rob G — Google review
Really nice pub - my sort of place. Probably the best pub in the city centre. Great range of ales on offer. Proper nice environment. Eclectic mix of customers. Dog friendly (and we had our medium sized doberhound with us). So good I went back by myself for a sneaky pint when the wife wasn’t looking. … but staff were quite cold and functional, and the prices were a bit steep (£18 for double g&t and pint) - guess it’s a sign of the times, with increasing taxes, business rates and utilities.
Sally W — Google review
Awesome place, always a good vibe here on any night, and always something good going on. A band called 'Louna Rising' were on last night, excellent gig, great energy. Well done for seeing the potential in them and re-booking them!! I just had the best night out ever as a result of that, an excellent band in a great pub. Well done !

Ok Old style pub. It’s not a terrible place , and you can have a nice night here, they host several different recurring events. However It is starting to feel very worn down and dated , not in a charming way. Individual staff vary from nice and welcoming to grumpy and dismissive. They don’t do food.
Anonee M — Google review
Lovely pub. Barman very nice and walked me through beers with tasters.
Alistair T — Google review
Bit of a shame. Good staff, beer ok. Overpriced by far the most expensive pub we went in Truro. A little pretentious. Nice frontage, let down by the token rubbish sawdust on the floor. Obviously never seen a real spit and sawdust pub. So don't bother.

Yesterday, I had a delightful lunch at Kona. Although I arrived late and was about to leave, the staff kindly consulted the chef who agreed to prepare a meal for me. The chef's skill deserves admiration as he cooked a delectable Poke bowl that offered an array of flavors including satay chicken, pineapple, coconut, edarme beans, rice, and melon. This dish provided both savory and sweet sensations in one go.
Great Atmosphere, Delicious Food, Perfect Location! I had a wonderful experience at this restaurant. The atmosphere is really cozy and inviting – perfect for a relaxed meal or a night out with friends. The food was absolutely delicious, with fresh ingredients and great flavors. On top of that, the location is fantastic, very easy to get to and in a lovely part of the city. Highly recommended!

Went in the afternoon for a late lunch, food was good had the chicken wings and squid, great flavour and taste, drinks there is a good choice of different lager and spirts/cocktails. My only gripe was we went back at 9:30 to be told they had shut up, i can only assume it was due to no one being in there, disappointed as we could of drunk else where.
Kevin F — Google review
The food here used to be really great, but on our most recent visit it had seriously gone down hill. We were told it is because they are pivoting to be more of a bar and the kitchen was getting refurbished. I ordered the chef’s special of chicken laksa (pictured) but what turned up looked more like spaghetti carbonara and had the taste and texture of wallpaper paste. The staff were great and took it off the bill, but I’d rather have had a decent meal.

We received a nice warm welcome from staff who seemed genuinely pleased to see us. We had lunch and the food was very good (pokie bowl, ribs and bau buns, apple gyoza, ice-cream) and reasonably priced - great 'mocktails' too! The attentive staff were excellent and made our visit for my birthday even more special. We will definitely be returning and I highly recommend a visit!

The Ship Inn is a well-known establishment in Porthleven, known for its lively parties and excellent pub-grub. Perched on the harbour wall, it offers a great vantage point to watch storms during winter nights by the cozy fire. While it's frequented by Masked Ball and Love Riot creators, don't be deterred as it exudes coziness with friendly staff and good beer.
Been here for dinner. Amazing pub, one of the best I’ve been to. Food was great. Burger was quite literally dripping in juice. Drinks offered were of great variety and were delicious. Atmosphere was lively (but not too noisy), everyone was having a great time. Great value. Staff were really friendly and overall a nice casual experience. Location was immaculate! The scenery was gorgeous, plenty of outside seating with scenic views. Top points for everything… Will definitely be back!

We visited The Ship in Porthleven Harbour and absolutely loved it. It’s an amazing pub with a huge amount of outdoor seating spread across several levels built into the cliffside, overlooking the harbour — the views are simply stunning! My partner and I went for dinner and tried their new winter menu. We had the fish finger bap, pork belly bap, and cauliflower cheese soup — every dish was incredible. You can really taste the quality and care in the food. Inside, the pub is small and cozy, with limited seating, but that just adds to its charm and warm atmosphere. It feels like a proper Cornish pub — welcoming, relaxed, and full of character. If you’re in Porthleven, The Ship is a must-visit — great food, unbeatable views, and a lovely atmosphere.

This is the perfect quintessential harbour side pub, which is clearly hugely popular with locals and visitors alike. Its location overlooking the entrance to the harbour is awesome, perfect whatever the weather, perhaps especially bad weather as all you want to do is sit in this cosy pub, order another drink and watch the waves roll in. It has great character with beer mats covering the ceiling, and traditional fishing village / harbour side items adorning the walls. The staff are great, extremely friendly and laid back, there is a good selection of drinks including local beers on draught, and the small menu has always been excellent on the occasions I've eaten. Porthleven is worth a visit just to get to this pub, clear your plans for the day, order a drink and let time melt away by the Cornish coast.

The Minack Theatre is a remarkable open-air theater nestled into the cliffs of Cornwall, near Land's End. Carved into the rock by the sea, it offers stunning views of Porthcurno Bay. Originally envisioned in the 1930s for a performance of The Tempest, it continues to host diverse productions today, including those by the RSC. Visitors can enjoy a unique experience watching performances against the backdrop of breathtaking scenery.
Come rain or shine, The Minack Theatre ceases to provide endlessly great performances - be they epic Shakespeare performances or promoting local bands - it is a definite must visit. I’ve been lucky to see many performances this year and look forward to the few remaining. The Minack Theatre is a spectacular open air theatre carved into the granite cliffs of West Cornwall, near Porthcurno Beach, and overlooks the Atlantic Ocean. Built on a single-handedly by Rowena cade in 1929, it has performances in a dramatic setting that blends the natural beauty with artistic expression. Such a joy to experience not only the performance but also the wild and natural beauty of us surrounding coastline and ocean life. The seating arrangements within the Minack are based on a tear system, please don’t worry, as I have sat in all of the tiers now and can see the stage and hear the sound quite clearly. 😊 When you visit, make sure to take a comfy seat and warm clothing (maybe a rain cover), especially towards the end of August as you never really know what weather to expect. I always treat my friend and I to a lovely picnic supper and que for the delightful Minack hot chocolate during the intermission. Make sure you arrive at-least 45 mins before the show to get to your seat, wrap up if needed, to have a nibble or two.. and then hunker down and enjoy the captivation of the show and the sublime coastal surroundings - you may even see a seal or Dolphin pass by. My new favourite day of the week.. Minack day.. 😊🙏✨

Great place and fantabulous views of the cliff and the sea! Mesmerising view of the turquoise blue sea! We went on dry sunny day and loved the views and the place. Amazing architecture and would get some worthy snaps! Sarah and Jane in the helpdesk ticket centre were very kind and helpful and sorted all our clarifications!
Fathima R — Google review
Highly recommend watching a show, it’s the most unique backdrop for a theatre. Worth paying for a seat close up as it’s not that much more expensive. Bring a jacket, cushion to sit on as it’s concrete or grass. And bring your own snacks too. Turn up an hour early to park up and get the best seats in the area you bought tickets for. If you’re booking a taxi, make sure it arrives early before the show ends otherwise they’ll be stuck on the single track lanes
Edwin L — Google review
What a surreal visit! Totally beautiful amd so many nooks and crannies to see. Our visit was cut slightly short due to a theatre group using it to practice (which was awesome, they were doing we will rock you!) But we saw enough to be wowed.

Fantastic place. Just the history of it is mind boggling. What a woman of great strength and determination. Although there was no show on, just to walk amongst the structures, plants and museum. Great cafe and the views!! Breathtaking

Lovely place to visit. We didn't see a show just wanted to visit the outdoor theatre. Some great views. Of the coastline from the theatre. Would recommend a visit. Car parking was good. If you book a time don't get there to early as you can't get in till your allowed time. I would advise to book a visit in advance.

Visited The Minack Theatre in August, saw Kate J Paterson with my family in the evening. She was so nice, It was amazing! View was incredible, great succulents , coffee / tea and chocolate available. It was quite an emotional experience. 💚 It showered a little and a rainbow came out. I would definitely recommend it and would love to visit again.
Sonya — Google review
What's not to love about this fantastic venue. I've been visiting once or twice a year for 3 decades. They seem to be opening up to more mainstream musical acts now though I've seen many plays, opera and ensemble pieces here too over the years. Occasionally the performances are a little dodgy but you can sit back and stare out to sea. Once when I was there a pod of a hundred dolphins came across the bay. The play stopped of course. Amazing sight. Wrap up warm and dry and check the weather reports as performances are sometimes cancelled if the weather is particularly stormy! Top tip is to arrive early and enjoy the landscape pre performance. Another top tip is to combine it with dinner and a drink at the Logan Rock Inn a few minutes away in Treen or somewhere in Porthcurno itself. Take a cushion and picnic. I usually use one of those waterproof cushions you can buy for garden furniture. No dancing though (for obvious reasons)!!!! Photos are from the Seasick Steve show in September and the Three Daft Monkeys show in April 2025. Recommended.

Had a great experience here. The staff were super friendly and helpful to a party which included a wheelchair user and a dog. We managed to negotiate the entrance to sit in the sheltered outside seating area overlooking the beach. The staff helpfully rearranged the table a little to make us more comfortable with the wheelchair. Food is super high quality. Not cafe food but good restaurant quality food. They also filled specific requests regarding the food perfectly without drama. Such a great spot to overlook the beach in a comfortable environment. The patrons were all super friendly too.

Visited twice whilst away on our holiday, we were staying round the corner from this lovely beach cafe and were so happy to have this gem on our doorstep! Our first visit was just for drinks and we had a lovely time. Our second visit was exceptional, we turned up after a previous poor experience at another establishment that left us without dinner. Gylly cafe sat us 15 minutes before the kitchen closed and were so welcoming, going above and beyond to ensure we were fed and looked after. The food was great quality, service was impeccable. We finished our evening with a relaxing nightcap on the terrace with friends. Beautiful views right on the beach. We intend on returning again!

Delicious and well prepared food. The atmosphere is fabulous and you can people watch being right next to the beach. Always nice to visit here anytime of day. The new covered area is a nice addition and seats are comfy even the tall chairs as have well positioned foot rests. Great choice of drinks, menus are a little limiting but food is good and well presented.

Very tasty food, however, not many choices as a vegetarian on the dinner menu. We had a broccoli steak, which could’ve been deemed slightly pricey, and two sides of potatoes which were delicious. We sat in the self serve area due to a high demand for tables, although it was very little burden only requiring going to the bar to order and picking up your own cutlery, food and drinks are still delivered to your table. Overall a very good spot for a meal and a drink and right by the sea for a good view.

I know some people have mentioned only being able to order at the machine or a QR code but I loved it, no need to talk to anyone, no need to queue, sit at the table & order, Went here after a couple of hours walk, drinks served promptly & food was really good, literally couldn’t fault it & 100% would be back! Had a really lovely meal here Saturday evening, 6th September, I chose the gammon and asked for it without the egg and a staff member came out and asked if I wanted pineapple instead which I really appreciated. The food was very nice although my partner said he wasn't too keen on the onion rings. It was a really lovely view and would have been nice to sit outside but it was too windy. Would definitely go back again next time we're in the area.

Nice place. Friendly staff. Great views. Great alcohol free local beer. But who's idea was it to refuse to serve customers drinks at the bar and force them to use the same awful touchscreen ordering machines the have in McDonalds. After a long hike I was made to traipse back outside to get my table number then wade through the awful on screen menu. What a shame because otherwise it was fab.
James H — Google review
3/5 – Great view, but the experience was a bit flat (like the Rattler!) Popped into the Bowgie Inn in July, stunning location with beautiful views, no doubt about that. The food was average for the price, and ordering was a bit impersonal with a McDonald’s-style self-service screen. I even ended up helping an elderly visitor just to get a drink, not exactly the warm Cornish service you’d expect. I ordered a Healey’s Rattler, but what I got was more of a flattler. I asked for a replacement, which they did provide (with a touch more fizz), but I was told no one else had complained. Probably because they’re all on holiday and I’m a local who knows how it should taste. Eventually, I was told there had been a dodgy batch from the supplier. I thought it was gas added at the pub, either way, should a bad batch really be served? Also worth noting, while advertised as being “open late,” they were calling last orders at 8pm for food and 8.30pm for drinks – before the sun had even set. All in all – go for the view, not the vibes.

We swung by here for a drink and a pizza, parked at the top in the main car park and took the steps down. As per other reviews it’s a lot of steps so I’d encourage you do decide if that will be a problem for you before descending! What a special place. Yes, there's a load of steps to navigate, drinks outside are in plastic cups, my beer was a bit flat but Lusty Glaze is so worth a visit. The look and feel of the place, the atmosphere, the superb staff, decent food, music etc, sets you up for a great time. The view over the ocean is stunning even if you're unlucky not to see dolphins or whales, which sometimes visit nearby. Parked in Lusty Glaze road and saved a few quid but plenty of parking options. This is one of our favourite beaches in Cornwall. We have been coming here for may years now. The steps down to the beach, and more importantly back up, are quite a workout, but it's well worth the effort. Just as a side note, the carpark is run by Just Park and is a whopping £15.20 per day to park. Just to add, on the day of our visit, there was no lifeguard on duty! In all the years we have been visiting, there has always been a lifeguard on the beach. The sign wasn't until you got down to the beach, so if it is something that is important to you, it might be worth checking before you pay for parking and wall down 133 steps!! Sorry, but the lack of lifeguard and cost of parking stops me from giving it 5 stars.

We were lucky enough as a family to stay at lusty glaze for 2 nights for a private wedding. It was one of the most beautiful settings ever seen. Separate from the wedding, the beach is beautiful and perfect for kids and dogs. You will not be disappointed.

Got married there last week we love the place so much! And if my 83 year old mum who’s had a hip replacement can make it down and back up the steps, anyone can. Staff are brilliant, plenty of food options, couple of bars and stunning beach. We spent two nights in the beach cottage, which has fantastic views of the beach and sea, and with the beach not opening until 9am you can get up early and have the beach to yourself!

The Old Success Inn, located in the heart of Sennen Cove, is a 17th-century seaside pub offering comfortable accommodations with a touch of history. The inn features airy quarters and a cozy dining room known for its carvery lunch and tempting dishes. With a large roof terrace providing coastal views, it's an ideal spot to relax after enjoying the nearby beach or exploring the scenic coast path.
This is a review of both the accommodation and the pub. Our 2-night stay at this B&B was excellent. The location with its views, parking (pay&display), and beach access is outstanding. The rooms and bathroom are perfectly thought through and managed - and we had a brilliant and comfortable stay. The breakfast is also very good - both the continental stuff and the cooked bits had enough variety to keep us going for a few more days if we wanted. The breakfast staff were extremely efficient and friendly, along with the manager, Babs, who was very helpful. We had a really nice time staying there. My only complaint was that the cleaning left a lot to be desired. We only needed it once, and though teas and biscuits were refreshed, and the beds were made, the floor had clearly not been vacuumed/swept, and the bathroom didn't look like it had been cleaned either. As for the rest of the food, we had two dinners there - and the pub food is average. Nothing to complain about, but nothing to remember either. All in all though, I had the most positive experience staying at Old Success Inn and would return in a heartbeat whenever I end up in Sennen Cove again. I highly recommend it.

What a cracking pub in a stunning location!! Having originally decided to have a late lunch at the cafe at the end of the car park we changed our mind after reading the (poor) menu, so headed up to this pub, and very glad we did. We were able to grab a seat outside which allows for great views of the sea, beach and cliffs we decided to share a starter and a burger as we wanted something fairly light. The food was delicious. The beef burger was nicely cooked being slightly pink in the centre. Staff were polite and friendly. Toilets clean. I would definitely return in the future.

Absolutely fabulous!! This was a trip away for our 18th wedding anniversary and the staff made it extra special. We felt so looked after from the minute we arrived and the views from the terrace are just wonderful. The food was amazing so in conclusion it was a perfect stay. Don’t hesitate to book we can’t wait to return. Thank you to all the staff at Old Success Inn for making it so special for us.

Outstanding room. I checked in when it was dark, so was immensely surprised with the absolutely stunning view in the morning. Slept like a log - as they say. Breakfast, served by some great, well-mannered and chatty staff. Nothing was too much trouble. Food was amazing and set me up well for the day. Took a nice stroll across the seafront before my departure. Stunning location, stunning hotel - will come again!

We stopped at The Success Inn in Sennen Cove for lunch today and had such a fantastic experience. The pub has a really warm and welcoming feel, with plenty of charm and character – the perfect spot after a walk along the coast. The food was delicious, freshly cooked and generous in portion, exactly what you want after bracing Cornish sea air. The staff were so friendly and attentive, making us feel right at home from the moment we walked in. One of the best parts for us was how dog-friendly it is. Our four-legged companion was made to feel just as welcome as we were, which makes such a difference when you’re travelling with a dog. With its lovely atmosphere, great service, and excellent food, The Success Inn is an absolute gem in Sennen Cove. We’ll definitely be coming back on our next visit to this beautiful part of Cornwall.

We booked the old success inn to celebrate our daughter’s 30th birthday as we were staying nearby. This was the best decision as it we had such a fantastic evening! The staff couldn’t have been more welcoming & helpful, they were brilliant especially Louise who was so attentive & made us feel so relaxed! The food was superb! I had roast chicken & it was absolutely delicious !! We had 2 dogs with us & sat in the dog friendly area which was brilliant & we also met some lovely well behaved dogs. If we ever visit this area again, we would definitely stop here for a meal! First class.

Excellent Sunday lunch, great service. The best roast potatoes from a pub lunch, the vegan option was tastier than usual and the Beef was great apparently. All this with a dog friendly option and fantastic views out over the cove. We will definitely go again.

We had a 2x night stay here over the August BHW. Can’t rate it highly enough. We had our dog with us so were put in a dog friendly room with a sea view. Dog was catered for with a nice big bed, some treats, poo bags, bowls & even a dog beer! Our room was lovely, shower was great. Nice and quiet with just the soothing sounds of outside waves at night. They even had yoga in the morning on the outside terrace. Andrew the instructor was excellent. Breakfast options were wide ranging and of high quality. Coffee was great. We also ate dinner here earlier on in the week and again the options were wide ranging and high quality. The staff were all very lovely & friendly too.

Outlaw's New Road is a renowned Michelin star restaurant located in Cornwall, offering elevated seafood-focused meals and an extensive wine selection. The establishment, led by celebrity chef Nathan Outlaw, boasts stunning sea views and serves a regularly-changing six-course menu that reflects Outlaw's love for diverse seafood and global influences.
Years ago Nathan Outlaw closed his two Michelin star fish restaurant and opened new road in its place. Free from the burden of trying to maintain these overbearing standards he is now free to just welcome you in and make you great food. And freedom never tasted so good. Outlaws new road is a masterclass in cookery. They serve up an array of fish dishes with no frills just brilliant flavour combinations and precision execution and seasoning. The flavour displayed by these simple fish preparations was nothing short of extraordinary. The restaurant has a gorgeous view and laid back vibe with service that is friendly and unpretentious.

My partner is not a big fish fan due to its often very fishy flavour. There was not a single dish she tasted she did not devour the lot and even try some of mine. I love fish and I would say hands down this is the freshest and most imaginative I have had. The view out onto the bay, friendly staff and food to die for made the experience relaxing and very memorable.
John H — Google review
Amazing foods, great view! We enjoyed all the pieces, it might be a bit expensive, but I think it was worth for the experience. There was lots of food that I could take a picture of, but I lost myself to eating😅 I was distracted by the fact that how delicious and interesting they were.. I’m happy! You will be happy!
Turan K — Google review
Absolutely insane dinner at Outlaw’s whilst on a break from London. The staff was so relaxed but efficient, each member made us feel so welcomed and chilled but also their knowledge of the food menu and wine was very impressive. Each dish was so delicious, I didn’t want it to end. I would like to take a vat of the mussel parfait home and spread it on bread for the rest of my life. Perfect amount of food, we certainly weren’t left hungry with the number of courses. Standard price for a 2 Michelin star, you definitely get what you pay for. Was surprised to see they don’t include service despite the service being so top notch so was very happy to add on 10% for the amazing staff. Loved to hear that Nathan himself was downstairs in the kitchen cooking our dinner which isn’t something you often get with a resterant of this level. Very happy customers !

Simply put, food perfection! With stunning views across the Pacific, you do have to be in a couple to get a window seat which seems a bit of a shame, and high-quality service, Outlaw's New Road is a must if you have the funds and are in Port Isaac or the surrounding area. Each course of the taster menu was absolutely delicious, but my particular favourites were the scallops, red mullet and the Monkfish, which demanded more bread, which was delivered without asking, to mop up the sauce; I make no apologies for being a 'mopper'! In summary, the food is as stunning as the views!
Terence A — Google review
Was sooo looking forward to this but sadly let down. Had lobster to start and it doesn't say on the menu but this is a lobster salad, so it was cold. Possibly our fault for not asking first... Main was good, Turbot on the bone, but lacked a bit of wow factor. Veggies were just courgettes and salad leaves.... Maybe should have pushed the boat out and had the tasting menu. At those prices I expected more. Sadly will not be coming back. On a more positive note, the staff are great

An unforgettable seafood culinary experience. My fiance and I dined here for dinner only two days after eating at Outlaw's other Michelin restaurant in Port Isaac (also amazing!) so had a very high bar to surpass. The staff were outstanding from our welcome to the attentive service and knowledge of the dishes. We were also given complimentary champagne as we were celebrating our engagement - a really nice touch. The restaurant has amazing views over the coast so id recommend sitting upstairs and booking an earlier reservation to get a choice of table. The seafood tasting menu was sublime, a true appreciation of quality, locally sourced produce which was completely different to the Fish Kitchen set menu (which was one of our concerns having only dined there a few days earlier!). Special shout outs to the baked brill and grilled turbot dishes - absolutely divine. If you are serious about great seafood then you cannot pass up an opportunity to eat here! 6*s if i could.

3.5 Stars. I found a table easily and service was exceptionally fast. Large cod and chips /scampi and chips ordered. The scampi was good, peas same as everywhere else. Now, I'm not sure if I'm being too harsh, but I felt the chips were tasteless and the "large" fish small and a little underwhelming. I would have said had I'd been asked if everything was OK but Noone checked on us. Would I go again, probably, but only after exploring other places to eat, but I certainly would not suggest you avoid here.

Had a fantastic gluten-free pizza here in August 2024! I had to check with the server that it was gluten free as it tasted so good! The servers were all really friendly and the atmosphere was cozy and lively. They also didn’t charge extra for a gluten- free base which felt like such a treat, with how much places usually charge for it! They also do gluten free bread for sandwiches and have lots of other GF options for main course meals too! Absolutley will be visiting again and sad our trip wasn’t longer so we could come back sooner!

Lovely stop on our coastal walk We stopped by The Harbour Tavern during a coastal walk from Pentewan. Initially, we were a bit early for food, but the team were welcoming and we happily enjoyed a few drinks while we waited. There was a small mix-up with our drinks (our fault!), but the staff were helpful and brought them over to us without fuss. We ordered food around 6pm — beer-battered local fish and chips, and a custom gourmet burger with as few healthy things in it as possible (our request)! The fish and chips were excellent, and I’m told the burger was equally good. The atmosphere in the tavern was really pleasant. We interacted with three members of staff — two of whom I suspect were the owners — and a young girl who cleared our table. All were friendly, chatty, and created a warm, welcoming vibe. I’ve read some of the more critical reviews, but honestly, I think they’re being overly harsh. Our experience was genuinely positive. The staff were accommodating, and the food was great — credit to the chef! Two very small suggestions for improvement: When serving tea, provide somewhere to put the used teabag. Swap the sauce sachets for bottles — it adds to the experience. I would recommend The Harbour Tavern without hesitation. A lovely spot with great food and service. Thank you

Located in Newlyn, The Tolcarne Inn is a historic pub and restaurant that takes full advantage of its proximity to one of the UK's largest fishing ports. Chef Ben Tunnicliffe curates a first-class menu that changes according to the fresh catch from Mounts Bay. The pub exudes a laid-back, local atmosphere both indoors and in its outdoor dining area. With a chalkboard menu reflecting seasonal ingredients sourced locally, this inviting spot is perfect for seafood enthusiasts.
If you love fish this is for you. Right next to Newlyn Harbour and fish market, this 300 year old inn doesn’t get any closer to fresh fish than you can get. The food is elegantly presented, using seasonal ingredients that perfectly complement the star of the show: the fish. The mackerel and horseradish starter was beautiful! The cod main was sensational and (if you have room) try and squeeze in the bread and butter pud. You know you want it. The service was attentive, informal and friendly. If I had one improvement, a little ambient music wouldn’t have gone amiss.

This fantastic seafood restaurant was recommended by the owner of our bed and breakfast, and we decided to give it a try for lunch — purely by chance. What a lucky decision! Specializing in seafood, this place far exceeded our expectations and even outshone the well-known (and more expensive) seafood restaurant nearby. We ordered the sardines and the turbot, and both dishes were absolutely delicious. The sardines were a standout — incredibly fresh, perfectly cooked, and full of flavor. They were juicy and tender, with just the right touch of seasoning to let the freshness shine through. The turbot, served with mussels, was equally impressive. The fish was sweet and delicate, and the mussels added an extra layer of rich seafood taste that made the dish unforgettable. Both dishes clearly showcased the quality and freshness of the ingredients. The portions were generous, and the prices were very reasonable, offering great value for such high-quality seafood. We’re so glad we took a chance on this place — it’s a real hidden gem. We’ll definitely be coming back!

Royal William Yard is a historic site in Devon and Cornwall, featuring imposing Royal Navy buildings from the early 1800s. Once a naval victualling yard, it now houses restaurants, shops, and apartments with stunning sea views. The Grade-listed buildings date back to 1828 and are said to have been built by former prisoners from the Napoleonic wars. The area offers easy access to beaches and attractions like Plymouth Hoe and the Barbican.
I did not know about this place until April 2025. Very nicely set out historic buildings by the sea. Lots of food and drink options and good walking around and about.

Great place to go for a walk around, coffee, beer or food. Stayed at the bistro Pierre and went across on the ferry to edgcumbe . Nice spot for micro brewery beer, interesting history to the yard. It was originally built in the early 19th century for the Navy

A stunningly restored Victorian victualling yard. The buildings are impressive in their size. It gives an insight to the size and enormity of the RN in the age of sail and what it took to keep it supplied. The restaurants a top class, our favourite being the food and service at Wagamamas.
Andrew M — Google review
Royal William Yard is undeniably a splendid waterfront destination—rich in history, teeming with culture, and architecturally captivating. It shines as a day-visitor or leisure hotspot, offering a memorable mix of relaxation, gastronomy, shopping, and artistic flair. However, if you're considering living there, tread carefully. The high cost, logistical challenges, and lifestyle trade-offs mean you might enjoy it more from the outside than as a daily home.

A Must-Visit in Plymouth – Royal William Yard We spent the day at Royal William Yard and it honestly exceeded expectations. It’s one of those rare places that blends history, scenery, food, and accessibility so perfectly that there’s something for everyone – whether you’re here with kids, friends, or older family members. History & Atmosphere The Yard is steeped in history — originally built in the 1820s–30s to supply the Royal Navy. Today, the beautiful Grade I listed stone buildings have been restored and given new life as restaurants, cafés, shops, and even a cinema. You really feel the history as you walk around — but it’s alive and buzzing, not just a museum piece. Things to Do There’s so much on offer: • Restaurants & Cafés – from Bistrot Pierre to Hook & Line, Wagamama, Seco Lounge and more. Coffee stops, wine bars, even a brewery — it’s food heaven. • Everyman Cinema – luxury cinema with sofas and food served to your seat. • Walks & Views – stunning coastal walks, sea views across to Cornwall and Mount Edgcumbe, and lovely lawns for picnics. • Activities – paddle boarding, sea swimming, yoga on the lawn, and a marina for boating. • Events & Markets – from food festivals to art shows and outdoor cinema nights, there’s always something happening. Accessibility We visited with my mother-in-law who is wheelchair-bound and were so impressed at how friendly and accommodating the Yard is. Parking is good, routes are mostly level, and staff in the restaurants and cafés couldn’t have been more helpful. Yes, some areas are cobbled or uneven (part of the history!), but overall it’s one of the most accessible historic sites I’ve been to. For Families & Adults Alike Kids will love the open spaces, the boats in the marina, and the chance to explore the history trail. Adults can relax with great food, drinks, and those unbeatable sea views. Whether you’re here for a lively evening or a peaceful daytime stroll, it’s got the right balance. The Highlight For me, it was simply sitting with a coffee, watching the sea and taking in the view across to Cornwall. The combination of majestic architecture, open water, and welcoming atmosphere makes Royal William Yard unforgettable. ✅ Summary: If you’re visiting Plymouth, don’t miss Royal William Yard. It’s more than just a spot to eat – it’s a full experience of history, leisure, and beauty by the sea. We’ll definitely be back.

Recent trip to Plymouth we stumbled across this place and so glad we did, we had an amazing afternoon into evening spent here. The amazingly restored buildings and architecture is well worth a visit just to walk around with a coffee but we booked into the Le Vignoble for a jazz and wine afternoon, then we went to the fabulous Movie theatre (Everyman) and what a place well worth it for the novelty purposes! Then we had dinner at Pierre restaurant which was lovely then to finish the evening off one last little stroll around to take the area in

Just off the main Harbour away from all the main hustle and bustle is this little gem of a place. I wish I could describe it in one worrd but it's more than just one thing it sells bottles of wine, sparkling wine and champagne. It also has a small seating area inside and outside to the front where you can have a glass or two of what you fancy. They also serve platers of food to go with the drink of your choice. The service is great and the owner not only has a fantastic choice of wine champagne and beers he has lots of knowledge of all he sells to. We had a couple of glasses of champagne with a plater of cheese and it was that good and that relaxing we had a bottle of champagne and spent the afternoon there just watching the world go by. I would not go back to Padstow if it did not include a vist here. Totally recommend it.

We are our staycation in Feock, and found The Boathouse by searching on google, and it recommended this place for a Sunday Roast. Parking was a bit tricky, but as it was Sunday, I parked on the single yellow lines. The outside seating area is on the ground floor, and the restaurant and bar were upstairs. I wasn't aware of this when I made the booking, but the weather was warm and dry, so I decided to eat outside, which had the perfect view of the sailing boats on the estuary. We weren't disappointed with the food. It was delicious, and make sure you also order a side of the cauliflower and cheese. It was lush. The staff are warm and welcoming and a great friendly service. Definitely recommend and will visit again in the future.

Great roast and excellent gluten free options. The staff are fab. Highly recommended for an amazing Sunday dinner. I’ve edited this review after visiting again. The quality of food remains consistently high, as does the food. A big thank you to all of the staff for their efforts.

The food was so good! Had the Sea bass catch of the day and it was great value at £20. The chocolate torte dessert was also just as good. Worth a visit if you are in Falmouth.

Excellent pub in Falmouth. I would advise booking ahead and asking for a window seat. Lovely views over the harbour. Really lovely food. The muscles were amazing. Very good options for gluten free.

DOG FRIENDLY . Food - we went on a Sunday for a Sunday roast and I must say I personally had the lamb and it was spot on . Service/staff - the staff were amazing told us that’s service charge was a choice which was super nice. They also knew there was a table of 14 about to order but came to us a table of two and let us know just incase we wanted to order before them (which we did)! Beer - on the menus has all of the craft beer options , bottles low and no wines etc which was a great selection . A lot of the beers/largers/ciders were local. Also a cool extra look to the ceiling of all their past beers !

The William IV Pub, located in the heart of Truro, Cornwall, is a dog-friendly establishment with traditional decor and a modern twist. It offers locally sourced food, fine Cornish ales, on-draught beers, and wine. The pub features a wood burner, an award-winning beer garden, an outdoor TV, and hosts live music events for a lively atmosphere.
Great food, great service, very nice place to just sit and enjoy food and drinks.

Great lunchtime visit. Nice varied lunch menu with a separate specials menu. Food was quickly served even though the pub was very busy. All food was well presented and tasty. Both the chicken ceasar and the chicken and bacon salads were very nice enjoyable bowlfuls. They served a good black coffee too. Overall - good food, friendly staff and good service. Would certainly visit again.

This is an ideal place for some decent pub grub, with plenty of seating. The food was good, and the service was great - friendly and efficient. I had the lasagne, which had a gooey cheesy top, rather than my preference for a crispier cooked topping, but other than that it was fine. My husband had the pie and thoroughly enjoyed it. The apple pie and custard was delicious. There's no pub car park but there is parking nearby.

Locals, went for a few drinks on a Wednesday at 9:30pm and told " I know you're having fun but keep the noise down" there was hardly anyone else in. We spent over £150+ at the bar. Never again!

Very nice pub. Very spacious and airy. Made to feel very welcome on arrival and went in good sun terrace at rear. Drinks, food, toilets, atmosphere and service all excellent. We had just the pulled pork nachos between us, and this was plenty and good. All staff very friendly and would definitely recommend!

It has a beautiful private dining room that seats up to 14 people where the à la carte menu can be ordered from. For more details visit rickstein.com. If you're in the mood for 1940s interiors and tasty cocktails, Ruby's Bar is the place for you!
Nice dog friendly cocktail bar, good selection of cocktails, nice atmosphere, a good selection of scotch and a few Japanese whiskey's. Table service was excellent, very attentive and helpful staff. We found it by accident as some stairs from St Petroc bistro took us to Ruby's Bar.

Rubys is a quaint drinking place in Padstow. Cocktails mainly. They are pretty good but certainly not on the challenging side for staff. There is a non discretionary charge of 12.5% added to your bill that one is not informed about. However this is not my issue with Ruby's. 3 of us went there Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th to finish of the evening with a few cocktails. On the Sunday when handed the bill at the end of the evening, I noticed the bill was excessive. They had added to our bill the previous round of drinks that had already been paid for. Pointed it out to the barman who put it down to a mistake. I accepted this response. The following morning at breakfast, talking about the events of the previous day, I relayed my experience at Ruby's the night before. My Daughter said she had paid for the last round of drinks on the Saturday evening and they done exactly the same to her. They had added on previous rounds of drink that had already been paid for. I then brought this to the attention of who i was told was the manager on monday evening and was told it would be looked into. I then get a call from the person who overcharged me saying he was the manager and it was all a misunderstanding. A mistake. No one with any integrity has contacted myself from Rubys or #ricksteins, even though i left messages. A cynical person may think there is a type of scam going on in Ruby's. Once is a mistake, twice is a choice. Most people i seen paying their bills did not check the invoice. Just swiped or tapped their cards or phones. Its an easy way to over charge or scam unsuspecting customers. Should you choose to visit Ruby's, the cocktails are decent but be aware of whatbyou are being charged for and check your bill.

Served by Sam with A1 class. This is a small bar that delivers with a local feel and laughs, friendly banter and the satisfaction of a proper night out. This is what it feels like to be a true local in a bar when you’re not a local. Loved it

Thankfully the gorgeous cocktails were worth the wait because we did have to wait. The ladies for their cocktails and the gentleman for their pints. Cocktails I expect to wait for because they are made fresh to order with many ingredients and components but not the men's pints.

The Box is a newly opened cultural hub in Plymouth, offering a diverse range of exhibits and activities throughout the year. The multi-million pound museum and arts center features fine art, cultural artifacts, and multimedia exhibitions. Its flagship exhibition, Mayflower 400: Legend and Legacy, showcases new artifacts from around the world related to the Mayflower journey.
I discovered this place when putting in a Google search of things to do in the area on a rainy day! It was indeed a very wet day so we headed over to The Box and as I love a museum with local history, I was looking forward to the visit. Very good natural history display and excellent video showing the history and development of Plymouth through the ages. Plymouth's place as a major world port was the subject of another of the rooms. There is a cafe and shop, and this is free to visit. Highly recommended and very child friendly.
Elizabeth B — Google review
Featuring galleries dedicated to art, history and natural sciences, one can spend quite an enjoyable day taking in all the exhibits and contents of this museum. If feeling peckish, the restaurant in the entrance lobby is not only roomy but also serves good food. Don't forget to pop into the building across from the entrance as it is part of the museum and also features exhibits.

This was a brilliant museum to visit, showcasing the history of Plymouth and its surrounding areas throughout centuries! The exhibits about ships are really interesting with displays of different ones that sailed from the city, particularly the one heading to the North Pole. Information is also shown about how people followed their career paths from Plymouth and model of the city's planning is well-crafted, creative imagery of outdoor areas is admirable itself too! Various cameras and their usage in theatres are delved into, television promotional aspects are revealed also. Artwork section is very creative with the likes of a pram holding up a twig with leaves, multi-headed women and a tree with unique branches off of it!
K. P — Google review
The Box is a great immersive/interactive museum which provides all ages a great way to experience history from in and around Plymouth and surrounding areas. It’s a real eye opening experience which provides different rooms full of unique information. I’d strongly recommend this to University students or people who are passionate about history. Although families or younger adults may also enjoy certain sections of the museum and of course the gift shop! There is also a small cafe downstairs which provides a variety of drinks and snacks if you plan a longer visit!

In this eautiful building from 1910 you can find an interesting " for all the family" exhibitions about Plymouth's history and prehistoric history, a small nature museum style exhibition which is very interesting and a modern art one too. Free admission, nice cafe, pleasent staff , absolutely perfect. Highly recommend visit.

The Mayflower Steps Memorial, located in the Barbican area of Plymouth, is a significant historical site where the Pilgrims are believed to have departed England aboard the Mayflower in 1620. Although the original steps no longer exist, a granite block and commemorative portico with a Doric column mark this pivotal moment in history. The memorial is adorned with British and American flags, symbolizing the departure of 102 passengers on their journey to North America.
Yep, they are steps. Enshrined with a literal and figurative doorway. You can’t go down the steps, but they’re there. It’s pretty much a guarantee the mayflower did not leave from here. But it’s a nice photo
Some G — Google review
As a family historian, with many ancestors who emigrated from England to the USA, I found this memorial interesting and nearby there is a list of passengers who sailed on the Mayflower. I have watched Genealogy programmes where descendants have been traced of those who set sail from near this point and it would be fun to find my own family connection. This will be of interest to those interested in the Mayflower story and there is a museum nearby. Free to visit.
Elizabeth B — Google review
Could not visit Plymouth without taking a look at this memorial, which stands in front of a viewing platform near to the place from where, on 16th September 1620, the Mayflower set sail with 102 Pilgrims on board, families hoping to find a better life and religious freedom in the New World. A bronze artwork tells the story of their experiences on this perilous voyage into the unknown, through illustrations, historical information, and personal accounts. The steps leading down into the water are relatively modern (the original ones no longer exist). There's a museum about the Pilgrims and the Mayflower close by. I did not get time to visit it, but there's a tourist information centre on the ground floor where I found helpful staff, and was given a free map of Plymouth. Well worth coming here to learn about this significant event in British and US history.
Valerie H — Google review
This is a great memorial to the Pilgrim's voyage but not the place where they actually stepped aboard the Mayflower. This part of the harbor was not there in 1620, the actual steps are across the Barbican road on Castle Street. There’s a black plaque on the side of the Pilgrim's Ice Cream shop. pilgrims who set sail. That was where the edge of the harbour was back then.
Kevin G — Google review
Extremely historical! I wish both countries would clean and maintain it better. Both flags should be replaced, as well as lighting and pavers.
V N — Google review
Bit let down by this place it's such a big part of nautical history but I didn't feel there was enough attention brought to it,maybe because the weather wasn't with us that day so the crowds weren't there but the Arch looks good after the renovation and the plaques set up around the walls give a good insight into the history, the battery is also really close by so hopefully it will get more American tourists because it's a very important part of American history
James ( — Google review
Found this memorial during a walk around Plymouth Harbour. It's amazing to think the Pilgrims were brave enough to leave for a new, unknown world from this very spot.

Beerwolf Books is a unique space that combines the pleasures of reading and drinking in a charming atmosphere. With its wood-clad interiors, it's an ideal spot to cozy up with a good book while enjoying a drink from their well-stocked selection. Frequented by students and locals alike, this pub offers a lively yet relaxed ambiance.
This place is amazing! A very cosy bar - with lots of little nooks to sit and enjoy a drink - and a bookshop too! And retro game machines! I was shocked at how cheap everything was, with the books being around £5 each (new books too!) and the lagers we got also came to about £5 each. We ended up getting 2 pints & 3 books for around £25 which is just crazy. New hardback books go for around £20 these days! A brilliant local spot, definitely not to be missed.

Tucked away behind the main drag in Falmouth high street is this, potentially one of a kind Bookshop with a bar! I mean, what an incredible idea? Very popular with local students but it’s something everyone can enjoy. Steps up to the main entrance, I’m not sure if there is any disabled access unfortunately. Beer was nice, can’t remember what it was called but I enjoyed it in the beer garden.
Gareth T — Google review
Amazing pub! We went here as a novelty to see the bookshop and pub and it was far beyond our expectations. There were 6 real ale hand pumps, all with local (independent) beers on, ( we tried them all and they were all in great condition). There was also at least 12 gas lines with craft beer and cider on, mostly independent. The lady who served us was very lovely, explained the beers and even checked on us later on to see what our favourites were, she was a delight as a hostess. Our friends loved the book shop, £4-6 a book!

Sadly they don't do food. But great coffee (my first experience of plant based milk which for a latte drinker is quite something) and a great selection of beers. Good music, nice atmosphere, you can relax and catch up without having to shout. Service was excellent but all the staff we met. Think will definitely become a regular stop whenever I'm in Falmouth.
Peter G — Google review
Is this a pub? Is it a library? Is it both? Does it matter? Great atmosphere, lovely and helpful staff, excellent music, a room full of books, a couple of arcade machines, there is so much going on in here yet it feels so cozy and not overwhelming at the slightest! And last but not least: perhaps the only pub this side of the world that has 5 DIFFERENT TYPES OF LAGER!!! When the whole of the country is so fully dominated by ales (a craze I will never be able to understand) this place is an oasis for us lager drinkers. Do yourselves a favour and pay a visit or two if you ever find yourself in Falmouth.
Evangelos T — Google review
I came here today as a group for a meeting. It was a nice quiet bench outside and the pub was quite empty. A fair few of us bought drinks (teas, beers etc) and commenced our meeting. Shortly into it, a worker (female, blonde hair) came out and told us that this wasn’t a library and we’d have to buy more drinks if we wanted to stay. If the pub was busy or if we were disruptive I’d be able to understand her situation, however we were neither of those and we had bought some drinks. We did consider buying more drinks but whilst discussing this the lady came back and said don’t rush all at once in a sarcastic tone. This was extremely rude and unreasonable, and instantly deterred us from wanting to buy any drinks. Whilst we were discussing where to go to rearrange our meeting, the lady was waving us away in a patronising manor. I have loved this pub for over a year, but the dreadful customer service that the worker provided today has deterred me from EVER going back again. There are plenty of pubs that are both pleasant and better priced around here, and now I have no reason to come here instead. In the process of writing this review, I’ve also noticed there are countless other negative comments on workers’ attitude, so clearly this is an ongoing issue.
Hayden L — Google review
A group of my friends and I came to this pub and sat outside together for a meeting for a uni project meeting. It was a large group of about 13 and some of us, but not all had drinks. A blonde woman came outside and, understandably, wanted us to have more drinks or to leave due to the size of our group, however her tone was really rude so we all went a bit quiet, as we were a little taken aback and as we started discussing whether we were going to get more drinks or leave, she comes back and says “don’t rush all at once guys!” once again in a rude tone, which made our decision of leaving quite easy. The final moment was as people were finishing their drinks they bought, we can see her in the window upstairs gesturing at us with shrugs and hitting her head, being incredibly patronising. We were all being a respectful volume as it was a work meeting, and had been completely respectful while there and if we had been told that we needed to buy more drinks in a respectful or even neutral tone we likely would’ve but her attitude was abhorrent and we were all quite shocked. I had always recommended this place to people but unfortunately will not be doing so anymore.

Princess Pavilion & Gyllyngdune Gardens is a historic entertainment and leisure complex in Falmouth, offering a diverse range of events and activities. Originally built in 1910, the venue has evolved into a year-round live music venue and theatre complex, hosting live music, theatre performances, and community gatherings. The stunning Gyllyngdune Gardens surrounding the pavilion feature an Edwardian bandstand and vibrant Garden Cafe.
The gardens are very pretty,a lot of unusual plants due to their position and micro climate. The pavilion serves light snacks, alcohol and soft drinks, quite expensive in my personal view . Long bar area but service area is crammed up on the right side by till. Had my tray of tea passed over the head of an old lady making an order, and then making my way out through waiting people, not ideal . Nice outside seating area , toilets available. A good sun trap

A day in Cornwall to watch Argyle play at Truro brought me to Falmouth for a quick visit and see the sea. Gylly beach cafe is a tourist trap and dull and boring so I set out to find somewhere different. Fortunately, hidden away past the hidden botanical gardens and up the steps and you find this hidden gem. Beautiful gardens and flowers all enclosed in a peaceful environment. Alas, I still couldn’t find a large latte but the joy of listening to a 4 piece brass band overcame the disappointment.

This is hands down, THE BEST cocktail bar in Newquay, been coming here for years. Bartenders are brilliant and each and every drink is made to a high standard and with great care. We did however spy on the food being served and it all looked really good. The staff were really good and kept checking to see if you needed drinks etc. If your passing its worth dropping in for a drink. We have now eaten here and the loaded fries are amazing as seen in the picture 😋

The place was super friendly and had a great seafront view. Nice chilled lounge inside for drinks. Food was fab. The squid was melting in your mouth and the mussels were by far the best I had in a long time. Their local gin is also a must try. Hope Newquay will look into having more places like this.

Fantastic food, fantastic service, great views and have options for vegetarian / vegan too. Can get quite busy so best to book your table in advance but would definitely return here as the "spiced cauliflower tacos" are one of the best vegan dishes I have tried. Compliments to the chef on this dish... The "dirty fries" are also very very nice, my only gripe with these was there was too much gravy (sauce) added. But even so I would order these again :-). Staff were very friendly, polite and made out visit very enjoyable.

WOW, been here before, never fails. We had the Indonesian fish Curry on Coconut Rice. (Without mussels). My Mrs had same with mussels. SO fresh & tasty. Whilst watching the sunset. This place is a definite must! Seating inside (lovely warm friendly setting) & out on the veranda. Large bar with a large draught selection, spirits, wines & Cocktails. This is really tasty fresh food. Compliments to chef & staff. 5 stars 🌟 Dave

The food was a great choice, only for lunch but the menu was perfect on a cold, stormy day. Out of the wind, which helped but we could still see the Atlantic Ocean... great food we had, good selection, of drinks as well as food.. I opted for sliced chicken was very tasty. Would come back again and bring some friends... loved it.

Food was excellent!! Street food style menu We sat at a table upstairs that overlooked the sea, what a fantastic view while eating our meal. Unfortunately, the staff service let this place down. Waited 26mins before even being asked for our drinks order. The waitress was stood talking to the couple behind us for 15mins about her personal life. I am not one to knock customer service as I appreciate it when servers take an interest in their customers but not at the expense of other customers. We had made the reservation for 20:00 and had another appointment at another venue booked for 21:00, which we had to cancel due to this oversight. Luckily the other venue was understanding and was able to accommodate us on our arrival. There was also a family of four sat adjacent to us and there was items missing off their order. Overall the staffing seemed to be unorganised and too casual. I would recommend here but be cautious of the untrained staff.

We booked a 3 night break as there was a 3 for 2 deal, which was a bargain and worked out cheaper then the Premier inn! We arrived in the dark, could hear the sea but couldn't quite work out where it was. Checked in with the most helpful and friendly receptionist's. What wasn't explained at booking was the £50 per night hold that is added to your credit card. This can be used to pay for meals etc and refunded at the end of your visit. Lots of information given and a booking made in the Cove restaurant, we headed to our room, floor 2. On entering it smelt amazing, later I found out this was the toiletries! The room was spotlessly clean, well stocked hot drinks, small fridge, huge bed and a sea view, but it was dark! Is have to wait until the morning! The Cove restaurant was beautifully devoted with Christmas treats and lights. Not a huge menu but something for everyone. I opted for the pork belly which was so good, while my husband had the Halloumi burger also as good! Great cocktails to wash it down with. After eating we had a nosey around and then ended up in The Elements bar which had live entertainment and more cocktails! A great night's sleep in a huge bed, the doors do bang quite loudly though and the noise does travel a bit! The next morning when we opened the curtains I was overwhelmed with the view, it was overlooking the whole of Fistral beach, amazing, I could have sat there all day watching the surfers and the waves. Breakfast had lots of choices, I opted for Granola and full English! the staff where all very friendly and helpful, taking requests for changes to the breakfast was never a problem. Back to the toiletries, Gaia brand and smelt amazing! Full size bottles of shampoo, conditioner, bodywash, body lotion and handwash. Fluffy big bathroom towel plus towels and robes to wear to the swimming pool. Also included was the swimming pool, hot tub and sauna. We only fitted in one visit, but it was worth it! Esp bearing able to walk back to our room in the robes supplied. There is also a cinema room. showing a range of kids films all day long and a vending machine next to it for snacks! A guest laundry to wash, dry and iron tour clothes. Kids soft play are just off the restuarant, pool tables and table football. They've thought of everything! We were due to move rooms after night one but after asking if we could pay extra to stay in a sea view room, they checked the bookings and we stayed in the original room with no extra cost, result! We spent far too long drinking hot and cold drinks in the lounge watching the sea and the world going by! The walk into Newquay is 15-20 mins, taxi was about £8. Lots to do in the town, independent cafes, pubs, beaches and walks! The staff at the hotel were all lovely and very attentive, nothing was too much for them. The radiator in our room wasn't working but within a few hours it was! We had a couple of other minor issues due to there being a big private function in the hotel, but we were listened to and answers given! The staff are all so friendly and helpful. Due to the private function they didn't stop, looking after everyone! Always with a smile Would I go there? Too right I would and already planning a trip in February for my Birthday. Thank you The Esplanade for a lovely few days of R&R, we'll be back again. I forgot to mention the shortbread biscuits in to room !!!

What a great find on a short trip to Falmouth. Eclectic, vibrant and very chilled! It just has a lovely feel to the place. Great selection of beers and IPA's. Staff (young lady) really great and was keen to recommend local companies for us to visit which is really endearing. Would come back in a heartbeat! A must visit

Incredible atmosphere, absolutely LOVE the decoration and feeling. Service was great and there was an incredible jazz session going on downstairs, everything felt great. Lots of different spaces to choose from, indoor and outdoor, in open areas or more private "rooms". The cocktail was delicious and all I wanted was going back there every night, to play some games with friends or enjoy the excellent music. Didn't try the food yet.

Really amazing place - a must go. Fantastic drinks, cocktails, pints and wines. 🍷 They also have some unreal local cheese boards as bar snacks! 🧀 The bar has a tonne of old antiques and interesting relics from the owners father. What an interesting the place! The vibe is intriguing and so is the interior, not being your standard bar, giving off a strong vintage vibes, and it works! There’s flowers and wood and style everywhere, and it’s really a unique experience. The drinks we had were tasty, funky in all the right ways, tucked away in a little cupboard, literally, with the best view of the square beneath. If we’re back in Falmouth, we will definitely stop by for another few, the mocktails being especially a hit. Service was nice too, and it’s clear there’s a little community to the place, with it being completely rammed and completely smiley!

The groovy outdoor bar serves delicious rum cocktails while live entertainment ranges from sea shanties to acoustic covers. Although the dinner menu is limited, the atmosphere and service are great.
Went to Surfside this evening for a family dinner, what a great place. Chilled friendly vibe with superb food. My husband had the ribs which looked amazing and he said they were delicious, my daughter and I went for the Surfside Fries also very tasty and a huge portion plenty enough for a main course, we accompanied them with the squid which was also great. The kids went for the burgers and they enjoyed them very much. All the portion sizes were very generous. Price wise it is very reasonable.

Went for meal on our last the waitress found a table luckily as they had a lot of reservations. My fish and chips good ,the fish was cooked well the batter a little over for my liking, my partner had a burger which looked good but over sweet with sauce . The onion rings were appalling reheated so much the onion was dehydrated and had substance or flavour and the batter was over fried and hard

Hip, chill and great vibes I have never met such nice bouncers ever on a night out, such kind and respectful people. Staff are friendly, venue is clean, and people in Falmouth are so kind and nice ! Great venue with lots of seating and dance floor , with a good selection of fairly priced drinks and free entry, this venue has a great atmosphere and is definitely a place to go for a night out, music was very soft house / liquid chill dnb vibes.

Pub
The Moth & The Moon is a charming alehouse in Falmouth, offering a modern and cozy atmosphere over two floors. It's known for its beer garden, making it perfect for the summer months. This pub features an impressive selection of Cornish beers, ciders, and cocktails. Visitors can enjoy folk and acoustic song nights on Tuesdays and open mic nights on Wednesdays.
Amazing pub! Small and unassuming from the outside but once inside there are lots of small and cosy rooms (including a beer garden), Dim Lighting and chilled music let you relax and concentrate on the most important thing, the fantastic beer! 4 real ale hand pumps all with local independent breweries, and an array of 9 craft ales too. Great atmosphere, one of the best pubs in Falmouth
Ellen T — Google review
One of my very favourite pubs in Falmouth, and that's really saying something. The building is full of charming character, the staff are wonderfully friendly and knowledgeable, and the ale is just perfect. The chap who runs the place really knows his beer, so there's always a fantastic selection and it's very well looked-after. The beer garden out back is lovely (though the steps are somewhat treacherous) and catches the evening sun. Sadly, OOA at time of this review, hoping it can be renovated in time for summer...
Thomas W — Google review
If you like local real ale, quiet atmosphere with a great selection of proper music being played, friendly staff who know their beer, then I highly recommend this pub. I had a pint of pendragon from the Tintangel brewery and a pint of diamond back from the Firebrand brewery..both delicious and tasty 🍺🍺👍👍
Simon W — Google review
Today my husband and I visited this pub on recommendation. I wish we had not. My husband was happy with his ale, but I asked for a gin and tonic. I have NO idea what drink I was served but it wasn’t any gin I knew. It was like soap water. I LOVE gin, but I have no idea what this concoction was, it tasted horrendous. I kept trying it, but it gave me a bad taste in my mouth. So if ordering gin, if you have no preference then ask for Gordon’s, Do not ask for simply for ‘gin’ as you may regret it.

A delightful little pub situated on Killigrew Street in Falmouth, run by Matt and his team that always serve up a good pint and have excellent knowledge of the local brewing scene. A wide choice of beers and other drinks is on offer and all are competitively priced. Highly recommended

What a find!! Walked in on the off chance as it was on my route back to my campsite. Such a cosy small pub with a homely feel. And then I found the upstairs. Popped in here for a pint before my late train from Truro. I grew up in Truro and always have fond memories of Bunters. A God darned awful filthy place. The management should be ashamed of themselves, on second thoughts I don't think that anyone is managing the place as there's filth everywhere & the toilets 'whoa' with urine on the floor, no toilet rolls or seats are a complete disgrace and a harbour for infectious disease I'm sure. Bacteria in the bar areas from cross contamination must emanate from those toilets, the whole place is a sewer. I recommend to stay away.
Fletch U — Google review
It's OK for a meeting point. Plenty of space, sports on TV. But generally a little bit dull and grubby, toilet seats hanging off, tables a bit sticky.

Wow! What an experience! Myself and partner who's birthday it is came out for food not knowing what we wanted, like most couples of course! We was greeted by beardy on the door who was extremely friendly and customer facing (not sure if he is a manager but he was doing everything). We came in with our 7 month old and the place was lively with music and about 2 free tables left. The food has only been on for a week and is amazing, can not fault it at all. Beardy 2 came and made a cocktail for the other half's birthday. We will be back in September for sure!

Fabulous pub, as a Plymothian I completely forgot this pub existed. Went in recently with my wife, my 1st visit for over 40 years. When in Plymouth, there are sights to be seen along the citadel, but in your haste along the Hoe and around the Barbican, do not hesitate to visit the hidden gems in the side streets, or on the hill. The Plaza @ Truro is a refurbished Art Deco-era movie theater that offers Hollywood films and snacks in a comfortable setting. The friendly staff ensures a pleasant experience, guiding patrons to their seats and providing excellent customer service. The facilities are well-maintained, with comfortable seating and good sound quality in the screening rooms. Despite minor issues with playing the movie, the management promptly addressed the situation and compensated patrons for any inconvenience.
Quality seats, good screen and sound system, quick service for coffee, drinks, snacks, ground and first floor toilets, not too big. Friendly staff and has somewhere to enjoy an Italian lunch just a few doors away. There is no specific allocated parking but caters for wheelchairs. Only advice, it was chilly in there ( February) so wear warm clothing!

Cinema is very reasonably priced for tickets and food. The screen itself was very small but was still worth going. Seats are comfy and do recline slightly but with no foot rest. Sound system starts of quiet for the adverts but gets louder. I would say, if your in small screen definitely sit on the front row. As the floor is not sloped.

Staff are friendly and food is good and easy to book tickets. So three stars. But the cinema itself is disappointing. Screen 1 is so small. Its like home theatre . All the excitement to watch stunts in Tom Cruise movie was deflated! Also there’s a very annoying big green light on in your eye line and the steps are always lit so the ambiance isn’t there.

Great art deco era cinema. Don't think it's changed in 35 years since I was born, although I do quite like that it's not changed as it adds to the appeal. Could do with cup holders but it's not really a hardship to put your drink on the floor.

Utterly impossible to watch the film I went to today. Was incredibly hot in the screen room, hallways were covered in sweets and popcorn and could barely even see the ground. There were hundreds of people being loud and obnoxious and nothing was done to quiet any of them down. Speakers were quiet and could barely hear the film over people mindlessly screaming. Literally left midway through the film because I couldn’t bear it anymore. Waste of money, and a waste of time…..

We had met the DJs earlier on in the day and they were very friendly young men! I cannot wait to visit this place again for good vibes and decent wine! See you next time guys! 🙏🏼 🎵 🥰

Absolutely fantastic food. We have eaten here twice so far during our holiday. Fish & chips in cider batter, they tasted amazing. Spicy chicken wings, rack of ribs & fries, all tasted fab. Fries are the best iv eaten. We loved it that much we are going to try & visted before we leave.

Great pub grub for a post surf beach day! Burger and a pint with a sea view within walking distance of the beach AND a carpark with plenty of spaces in silly season, what more could you want?! Its the staff that really make this place, friendly, chatty and accommodating. We have a child with a nut allergy, the staff took it seriously and were really thoughtful.
Joseph G — Google review
Went in as group for a nice holiday meal. Restaurant looks nice from the beach but the food was awful, especially for the price. We booked in advance, arrived with not enough chairs or cutlery and the venue was not busy. The food arrived and looked like it had been sat there for over a day. The £24 seafood platter came with a crust on the sauce, and barely any fish with mostly chips. The salad was dry and old. The lobster roll was mostly lettuce and chips but cost £16 and the burgers were somehow medium rare but chewy and dry. The staff was understanding but would not go back.

Visited for lunch expecting a run-of-the-mill beach cafe, and we had the most lovely meal! The staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating and our dog was welcome too. The food was really good with great portions; great value for money. The place has a great vibe. I’d 100% recommend this place for food after a nice long walk down the beach!
Amy — Google review
Great location here to stop for food and drink. Stunning views. A little expensive but worth it in the sunny weather. Did not find the staff very welcoming instead were focused on letting people know that they need to buy a parking ticket within 10 minutes as the car park was owned by someone else. ANPR camera for the parking. Cash or card payment accepted. Don’t be fooled by the Maryland cookies on the bar at £1 each…

Nestled in the heart of Plymouth, the Minerva Inn stands proudly as the city's oldest pub, dating back to around 1540. This charming establishment is a delightful blend of history and warmth, making it a favorite among locals and visitors alike. With its cozy atmosphere and friendly clientele, it's an inviting spot where you can enjoy engaging conversations without overwhelming noise. The Minerva Inn hosts live music three times a week, creating an enjoyable backdrop for your pint.
Lovely back street pub, oldest one in Plymouth, been coming here for years, still as good, great real ales, Tribute my favourite definitely worth a visit. Close to Barbican and city center. Nice locals, staff and a jukebox too. You won’t be disappointed 👍🍺🍺

In all the years I have lived in Devon, I never knew about this pub. We were following a Mystery Guide for Plymouth and this was a pleasant surprise on the route. Good, reasonably priced beer served with a smile.
Pete S — Google review
The most historic pub often cited in Plymouth is The Minerva Inn, located in the historic Barbican area. Here are a few reasons why it is considered so historic: * Age: It's widely recognised as Plymouth's oldest serving public house, dating back to around 1540. * Maritime Links: Legend suggests that some of the timbers used in the building were salvaged from wrecked ships of the Spanish Armada (1588). It's also reported that a spiral staircase inside is made from the mast of a captured Spanish galleon. * Press Gang History: In the 17th Century, it was known as a haunt of the notorious Press Gang, who used to trick men into joining the navy, sometimes by slipping the "King's Shilling" into their beer. Stories of secret tunnels and peepholes still exist. Well worth a visit to the Minerva Inn
Greg C — Google review
Famously Plymouth's oldest pub, if you're a visiting CAMRA member do not miss visiting this public house, probably best described as being a little bit cosy shall I say, never had a bad pint here. Sometimes has a free jukebox one day a week.

Great old pub/inn with a bit of history. Great place to meet and chat with locals. Plenty of drink choices and great service. What more can you ask for? Manage to find a slot on the ceiling to catch my own name there.

Coming from a Naval family I have to come here every time I visit Plymouth. There is just an overwhelming sense of history here. The beer and food is great.. the atmosphere is awesome. Fantastic.

The a la carte menu features upscale Cornish seafood and meat dishes, including their renowned ale-battered fish and chips served with homemade tartar sauce and crushed peas. Good Lord the roasts are great! Gravy is the best I’ve ever tasted and this roast was up with the very best in the UK!
Rich F — Google review
Not as good as expected if other peoples reviews are to be taken into consideration. We being 3 people had 2 beef which were overpowered by the smoked element of the cooking process which left an aftertaste in my mouth and a lamb which was nice with no issues. The beef was also very fatty, I know that chefs say fat is flavour but we found it too much in our opinion and we had the cauliflower cheese which was very good. The service was below par as had to ask for spoons to serve up the separate vegetables and cauliflower cheese but only got one, I know we could have asked for more but at these prices we shouldn’t have to. Also no horseradish or mint sauce was produced and again had to ask for them although they are stated on the menu as part of each dish. The table water wasn’t chilled which from the tap is a bonus in masking the chemicals in it. Had 2 puddings which were very nice. I don’t think we will go again anytime soon and if we do it’ll be for the general menu. The pub itself is very quaint and a lovely atmosphere. Possibly just an off day maybe but again at these prices it shouldn’t happen. FOOD 3 SERVICE 3 ATMOSPHERE 5

We had a lovely meal here last week with the steak special on Friday. The food was great, a sharer for two with a sauce each and two sides each. The portion was very generous! The puddings were delicious (rhubarb panacotta dish pictured) We went with our daughter and dog and it was a great venue for both of them

Dined at The Rising Sun for my birthday dinner with my husband and dog whilst holidaying nearby. Definitely up there as one of the best pubs or restaurants I’ve eaten at. Food was delicious, wine list fantastic and service 10/10. Highly recommend and will definitely be back if we’re in the area again.

Came in for a Sunday roast this evening. We sat on the tables outside. The waiter came out and gave us our menus and then forgot about us! We were left for 25 mins so I went in and politely asked ‘have you forgotten about us?’ To which he replied ‘yes’ and was apologetic, said he’d give us a side of cauliflower cheese for free. Meal came and that was nice enough, roast potatoes as tough as old boots though! Then waited further 15 mins for our plates to be cleared and to ask for dessert menu! At this point my mum was getting frustrated. I ordered a latte, it never came. When the bill came the latte was still on there so had to get that taken off. All in all a sense of no management whatsoever., and like the staff didn’t care or had had enough. I’d guess there was no manager on this evening. The young girl waiting on tables alongside the guy with the thumb ring, she was sweet but lacked any clear customer service skills, we had to ask for spoons to serve the vegetables. Honestly, the service was just so not up to scratch. The food wasn’t great, wouldn’t return. The waiting staff were all giggling and chatting behind the bar when I went in to see if they’d forgotten us. Have fun at work, of course, but not if it means you forget what you are actually supposed to be doing! Only go if you’ve got loads of time, don’t mind having to pester them to serve you!
S K — Google review
I have been to the Rising Sun multiple times for drinks but last week finally we went there for a date night. We had a lovely seating. The service was outstanding. But the highlight was the food. It started with the outstanding parmesan and chorizo bread rolls which were so delicious. We then ordered the scallops for starters - which was fresh, and delicious. For mains, we had the duck and 10-hr lamb. Both were outstanding but we were in love with the lamb. For dessert, we went with the trifle. Each dish was delicious. We had tried multiple times to book a Sunday roast here but for our lack of prior planning, we thought a dinner would be a good idea and we were absolutely right!!

Blink and you will miss this place but it would be a big mistake Dropped in here for a quick bite to eat- wow Fish of the day, spectacular Ate in Jamie's 15 at Watergate 3 nights ago, was on par with that- it was that good Update 7 years later and still fantastic I hear the owners are moving on which is s tragedy as the food and service is simply top draw

A nice meal, I had catch of the day with fondant potato, which happened to be hake. It was very nice, service was good, arrived quick enough. Only reason it's 4 star not 5 is that the portion was too small for the price charged. The hake portion was very small, and the meal wasn't rich enough to get away with such a small amount. The duck on the other hand seemed to be a decent portion. The panacotta was very good.

Back in the day, this pub was a must visit on any night out in Truro worthy of the name. I've been several times in the past couple of years, on different days of the week and at different times. It's sad to see that it has become bland and so empty. I know that nostalgia has a lot to do with things but I can't believe how characterless this place has become.

I had a terrible stay from start to finish. I would have left but the work paid for this trip. I would never want to stay here or recommended anyone to stay here. It’s not worth the money. It’s very sad as it is a stunning location, with lovely nature around . First the place is very old , old and it just has not been well maintained , the windows latches didn’t latch , I tried to open the windows but it wouldn’t hold. The carpet is very well worn in, and very heavily soiled with many stains! The rooms and bathrooms are spactions . The furniture and bedding is worn well out and just need replacing. The furniture is chipping away so poorly , it’s just needs to be thrown out and replaced . I had no cleaning service. I checked in on Sunday late afternoon and checked out Thursday morning . No new towels or toilet paper was brought into the room. however, they do the door signs that we can request the cleaning service. This was not done even though I had put the signs up the night before ? The basin is also very very small. I couldn’t fill up the kettle with water to make a hot drink. The kettle was empty upon arrival . There was a few coffees and teas with some milk provided but never refilled from Sunday night already . There is no additional plug points by the bedside table apart for the one bedside lap. The internet doesn’t work it only worked from Sunday to Wednesday. From Wednesday my cellphone and laptop couldn’t connect . I was on a work trip and obviously they chose the cheapest rooms! This trip cost £100 per night which is not cheap! I mean for a bed for 5 nights no feed/ no cleaning cost £500 not worth it at all , I didn’t have a comfortable stay at all , the water was also cut off on Sunday and Monday by South west water so not the Inns fault at least they new about this and informed me. But yeah all in all not a good stay at all ! I dislike being negative but yea I have to write this review Also no contact people go and report issue too the problems or issues too ,one should be able to get help

Ordered a wine which tasted off, which had been returned back to the bar straight away, would not offer a refund drink. Considering only one sip had been taken. Will not be returning really disappointed with service. Not the same pub as it used to be. Again from your response the chain of events seem to be misconstrued. It was my friend who remarked, not myself. Very disappointing and personal attack - not good !

Stayed here overnight for the first time, very welcoming, lovely size room, amazing spacious bathroom, very comfortable beds, we were in room 5. Only thing that could have improved the stay would have been a full English breakfast. But that's not a complaint, we knew when we booked that it was room only. Nice stay, we'll be back to stay again, (if you'll have us.

Nestled in the heart of Truro, Cornwall, Burrell Theatre is a charming and intimate venue that showcases local talent and productions from Truro School. This delightful theatre offers a cozy atmosphere where audiences can enjoy performances up close, enhancing the overall experience. While it features comfortable seating and good accessibility, it's worth noting that the bar area can get quite busy before shows start.
The cornish Carol, excellent show. The doors opened at 6pm , bar wasnt prepared or ready til 630pm which was disappointing and not enough seats whilst waiting for the show to start. But this did not take away from the evening. Hilarious play/ show. Small venue which meant you saw everything perfectly and coukdnt fault the performance. Overall a fantastic night

Excellent theatre. Great parking. Didn't give five stars because reception & bar area doesn't allow waiting theatre people anywhere to wait as too small.

Tall Trees is a renowned nightclub in Newquay, Cornwall, known for bringing nightlife to the area since the 1980s. It was voted the top club in the South West by Ministry of Sound magazine in 1998. The venue features a decent-sized stage and dance floor with impressive sound and lighting after a recent refit. While some visitors find it smaller than expected with limited seating, others praise its versatility for hosting various events from music nights to magic shows.
Fantastic venue with amazing sound and lighting. I was really impressed with Tall Trees after the recent refit it looks clean and is perfect for all kinds of events!

Went to see matricks illusion. Great family show. Pay and display up the road with limited parking out side the venue. Quite a few steps inside so wheelchair users would need to ask. Its been refurbished, nice size for a show. It has a bar with alcohol and snacks. The sound system is loud... so young children might need some ear protection. I will definitely keep an eye out of other events.

Having NEVER ever been inside TT before I didn't know what to expect. It is smaller than I anticipated but has a decent sized stage and dance floor. One very small limited bar and very limited seating (although this evening was a music one so not sure if it is different at other times). I personally think it has a bit of an identity crisis - is it a cabaret bar for people of all ages or still a night club where you just have to stand around drinking and being sick in the toilets??? Speaking of toilets - pretty grim and that was the ladies where I would definitely be reluctant to take a child in. I gave 4 * as it is still nice to have good live music locally and I understand the issues the management has regarding no disabled toilets (disabled access is a separate door besides the stage) and the need to get the numbers in to break even. TT is trying its best and should still be supported as not everyone is perfect.
