Restaurant
Snow City Cafe is a popular and vibrant eatery in Anchorage, known for its creative breakfast and lunch offerings. Established in 1998 by local restaurateur Laile Fairbairn, the cafe has become an integral part of the city's food scene. The menu features delicious dishes made with locally sourced ingredients, reflecting the region's upbeat atmosphere.
Everything about the experience was impressive. From the hand-offs to the food itself, it all just felt so well-orchestrated for such a popular spot outside a major city. Yelp itself could probably use some work, as our app crashed during attempted a remote check-in attempt, but the terminal at the restaurant was flawless and our estimated wait time was accurate to the minute. Our server (Hana) was helpful and quick. I wish every super hyped restaurant could run this smoothly. Did I mention the food was delicious? The food was delicious.

This is a famous breakfast place in Anchorage. You can call in and get your name on the waiting list which is a great idea. Went there on a Sunday and it was really crowded. We literally waited almost 2 hours for a table.! Weather for breakfast, but really ate lunch. Went there for the crab Benedict and it did not disappoint. It was absolutely amazing. Huge portions, especially the hashbrowns. Dee was our server and she was amazing and incredibly cute. The hostess staff were incredibly patient, considering the stress of how crowded it was and how many people were waiting. They will call or text you when your name comes up if you leave your phone number.

I was recommended this place while in town. I have found the food in Anchorage to be hit or miss… This was a hit. I came in during a breakfast rush on a Friday. The wait was long, so I scoped out the counter area and when a couple people left, I grabbed a seat. The service was fast. They made me a delicious latte that was served quickly as I mulled over my breakfast choices. I chose the biscuits and gravy, hash browns, and a side of bacon. Even the orange they used as a garnish was delicious! The biscuits and gravy were a perfect texture and had a good amount of biscuit to gravy. The hashbrowns and bacon were both excellent. I had left leftovers and heated them up for lunch later in the day and the biscuits were still great!
Taco E — Google review
Very popular at breakfast time. We did not have to wait for a table, but it got busy quick. The food was delicious. Service was great. The atmosphere was fun and quirky.
Stephanie P — Google review
Such a fun vibe! The staff here is incredible and super friendly. The food is top notch! If you are in Anchorage and looking for a breakfast/brunch spot.....make time to come. Get on the wait list or definately have time....we were here a couple of times during our week in Anchorage and saw up to 45-ish min of wait and other times just sat right down. We had coffees from here a few times and breakfast that was fresh and so tasty. The stuffed French toast with berries...I nearly licked the plate...we also got the egg Benny with a bonus stack that was just yummy Yummy Yummy! Every bite was tasty!
Jolinda — Google review
Snow City Café absolutely lives up to its reputation as Anchorage’s #1 brunch spot! I stopped in for breakfast and quickly realized why the place was packed so reservations are definitely the way to go. I sat at the counter and had the pleasure of being served by Deenju, who was fantastic in helping with selections (though, let’s be honest, when it comes to sticky buns, how much encouragement does one really need?). I tried the half-and-half Benedict, one classic and one with smoked salmon, and while both were delicious, the smoked salmon Benedict was hands-down my favorite. The sticky bun was a must, rich and gooey, and worth every bite. The hardest part of the morning was simply deciding what to order, because the entire menu looked incredible. The energy inside was upbeat, the service top-notch, and the food outstanding. If you’re in Anchorage, this place is a can’t-miss. I’d say it was love at first bite and the start of a beautiful friendship.

Great food, great Mimosas, and great atmosphere. Mariah was our favorite! ALWAYS smiling and so friendly and professional. She's an employee every company would dream to have. Take care of her- she's a keeper! Be prepared to wait. What many people I think didn't realize is when the bar opens up you can sit there first come - first served. We were on the list to wait at least an hour but as soon as the bar opened up we sat right down. We also got their delicious coffee while we waited as they also have a coffee bar in the waiting area. So far, the best place we've found for breakfast in Anchorage. I'm told during the summer there's a line around the block to get in so we got lucky coming in late September!

Food is absolutely delicious. It’s a popular breakfast place in town, and very busy. Would not recommend if you are looking for quick service. Got the polar bear dish with French toast and Canadian maple bacon.

South Restaurant + Coffeehouse is an urban-chic establishment in Anchorage, Alaska, offering a mix of New American dining, a bar, and a coffee cafe. It stands out for its more than 25 gin varietals, rotating local beer selection, and high-end cuisine. The restaurant's clean and modern atmosphere makes it an ideal stop at any time of day.
Picture it: peak tourist season, July in Alaska. It's a Saturday night and we need a reservation for 10 and no one is taking reservations. And then South came through! We had a great table in a private area. The service was on point - helpful, prompt, and professional. Let's get to the food -- the star of this experience. I'm a sucker to try French onion soup whenever possible but I'll also judge your establishment based on the quality of this dish and the French onion here is OUTSTANDING. The crab cakes with the poblano sauce were also unbelievably good. In fact, our table of 10 didn't have a dish that wasn't excellent. I'll be back if I'm back in town again.

We came to this restaurant on a Sunday morning and it was packed! We ended up sitting at the bar. The food was delicious and very filling but it did take quite a while for it to come out which was a disappointing. The staff were super friendly and attentive. I would recommend making a reservation before coming here if you do not want a long wait!

Spot on as always🔥 I never would order a porkchop out until I had it here first. It changed my perspective and I will now order them out at resturants of this caliber. Its been wonderful every time. The mocktails are very well done as well.

Visiting my friend and popped in for breakfast. We went to the coffee first. We ordered a dirty chai and mocha. Because the coffee is freshly made expect a little wait time. The dirt chai was amazing. We then went over to dine. We were sat immediately. The server was very nice and accommodating. We ordered the death by bacon sandwich, Benedict with crab plus scallop cake and a single order of the sourdough pancake. The sourdough pancake was seriously unique. I loved that it was crepe like. You can taste a hint of sourdough. The death by bacon was extremely flavorful. The Benedict was amazing and the brioche bread it as served on was super soft. You won’t go wrong ordering any of these items.
Shelia J — Google review
Get on the Yelp waitlist before heading over to save time. The staff here are friendly and fast. We ordered the avocado toast with egg and bacon, plus the two eggs any style with a side of the pouch. For drinks, we tried the Kobuk Samovar tea and an espresso. The tea was a bit too heavy on cinnamon and sugar for my taste, but overall it was a good experience.
Mahshid Z — Google review
Stopped here for dessert, and it was scrumptious! There were some creative items on the menu, and our tea came in aesthetic little glass bulbs. Service was informative, professional, and extremely friendly. The whole restaurant is very cute--modern but cozy.
M S — Google review
We had a delightful breakfast at South. The staff were welcoming and attentive. Our water came to the table often to make sure we had everything we needed. All the food we had was delicious, especially the Pavlova. It’s to die for.
Stephanie S — Google review
My friend took me to South Restaurant + Coffeehouse for brunch for the first time, and I loved it! The place is super cute and modern, the service was friendly and fast, and the potatoes from my eggs benedict were honestly some of the best I’ve ever had. I’ll definitely be coming back!

Middle Way Cafe is an Anchorage original that offers a welcoming atmosphere filled with local art. Located near the Northern Lights Shopping Center, it's an ideal spot to visit during your day's adventures. The cafe provides baked goods, vegan options, and hot drinks while showcasing works by local artists. Although the wait time for food can be lengthy, the fresh organic ingredients and variety of vegan and gluten-free options are a big draw for many visitors.
The food here is excellent! I was only in town for one day but I went for dinner and then again the next morning. I got the vegan ruben and didn't think I would like it because I am not a fan of sauerkraut, but it was like melt in your mouth amazing!
Shauntae P — Google review
Middle Way Cafe is a modern restaurant in that you irder your food at the register and then seat yourself. We ate there foe breakfast and if you ordered drip coffee or water, you serve yourself. When you are finished with your meal, you clean your own table by clearing your dishes. We had a group of 9 and the average report for the food was a 4 out of 5. I got the western omelet and it came with home fries and toast and it was $19.95 prior to tax. Overall, I would recommend and eat there again.

MUST try their GF DF carrot cake cupcakes. Amazing. Wait time On food and coffee will Be unreasonably long usually. Sometimes the food is super amazing and sometimes you’ll have to ask them to remake it. We’ve been coming here for 18 years and still love it even when it can be bad sometimes. In anchorage this is my favorite cafe as they have amazing options and the best hot beverages. However: the gluten free cookies and cupcakes and other treats they have are absolutely the best in town. They have different GF treats whenever we go. I love their selection. If only other places had such amazing gf treats. Not sure about their food options. Their matcha latte and coffee are just bomb. Service is either amazing and lovely or some atitude depending on who you get. We usually the the lovely people!

I am sick to my stomach and really hate to write these kind of reviews. I got a breakfast burrito from here this morning and as i was eating it something just tasted REALLY off and spoiled. I looked inside the burrito and immediately realized why as I pulled out a bunch of extremely old & spoiled avocados from my burrito (that I paid almost $22 for) very sad as I am so grossed out, they had to of known they put these avocados in my food as they were making it.
Danielle L — Google review
So many gluten free options! There were lots of gluten free baked goods. I tried the gf banana bread which was super tasty. They also had gf chocolate chip cookies, carrot cake, cupcakes, lemon bars, and strawberry jam bar. I had the tofu stack for breakfast (gf and vegan) which was very good. Would definitely come back!
Hannah T — Google review
Omg this place is everything! I was traveling in Anchorage for two weeks and ended up coming here at least 4 or 5 times — that’s how good it is. We mostly came for breakfast and lunch, and it quickly became a staple for us during our stay. As a vegetarian, I was so happy with how many options there were — not only plenty of choices, but everything felt fresh, healthy, and made with care. The food was consistently delicious every single time. The vibe of the café is also just perfect: cozy, cute, and modern without being pretentious. It’s the kind of place where you feel good hanging out for a while. The staff was always welcoming and kind, which made the experience even better. Honestly, I could not recommend Middle Way Café enough if you’re in Anchorage — whether you’re looking for a great meal, healthy options, or just a place to relax, this is the spot.

I ordered the wrong dish and didn't realize until it came that it was inedible for my diet. Daniel came to my table, showed me the ingredient list and helped me pick out a dish that worked for me. The Baja bowl hit the spot! Great service and food. Thank you!
Joe D — Google review
Middle away Cafe is fantastic. In terms of quality and quantity, you get what you pay for and more! In my experience, the food has always been better in-house than to-go order. I can’t say enough about the quality of the food ingredients and the pleasant feeling it leaves on the stomach post gorge. Enjoy!

Restaurant
Jackie's Place Restaurant in Anchorage is a down-to-earth breakfast and lunch spot known for its build-your-own omelets with a variety of ingredients. Despite some initial slow service and minor issues with salty waffles, the overall experience at this favorite breakfast place was delightful. The attentive women staff ensured that coffee cups were regularly refilled, and the friendly service added to the enjoyable atmosphere.
This was our first stop on our first morning in Anchorage—just a short walk from our Airbnb—and it hit all the right notes. Jackie’s Place feels like stepping back in time in the best way possible. Cozy, welcoming, and clearly a local favorite. The menu is massive, and everything we saw coming out of the kitchen looked amazing. I went with the country scramble, and it was exactly what I hoped it would be: hearty, flavorful, and generously portioned. Just good, honest comfort food done right. The service was excellent—friendly and attentive without rushing. I could tell this place runs on pride and regulars. I’m already thinking about what I’ll try next time. Old-school charm, great food, warm vibe—
Coby H — Google review
The omelets have one slice of salty American cheese and made with maybe two eggs so it's paper thin. The filings were sad and barely warm, toast was over toasted but kudos to not being over buttered. No idea how this place has more than 4 stars. The waitress seemed like she had better places to be
Shannan E — Google review
I ordered the chicken fried steak with toast and over easy eggs. I received a cut of bone dry chicken fried steak with NO GRAVY, over hard eggs, and missing toast. The steak was so tough to cut and to chew that I couldn’t eat more than a couple bites. Hashbrowns were seared on top but soggy everywhere else as well. The woman on the phone was nice though. However I have never received such poor quality food & for a price tag of almost $20…. I would seriously recommend they start some quality control.
Faron S — Google review
Jackie's Place Restaurant offers a cozy ambiance with friendly and warm service from the waitress, as always. The menu boasts a good variety of options to choose from, catering to diverse tastes. While most of the food was enjoyable, the steak was a little bit of a letdown, being overcooked and overly seasoned, which overshadowed the natural flavors of the meat. However, the eggs were expertly prepared and the spam was a delightful savory treat that satisfied my palate. Overall, Jackie's Place Restaurant is a decent cafe with a bustling crowd. Despite some misses in the food department, it's worth a try if you're in the area and looking for a comfortable spot to dine.
Juztin P — Google review
In my trip to Anchorage, this was the first place of dining that I genuinely felt like I was home. The waitresses and back of house alike are super friendly and charismatic. Coming at the perfect time and asking the right questions. The atmosphere has a lot of personality and just the way they executed things was smart and made it feel more personable. Hell even bringing a whole loaf of toasted white bread all perfectly buttered for a table of 6 instead of all of us getting a slice or two on each plate was a pleasant surprise for me. The food was fantastic. We all got omelettes and just packed with toppings that were cooked with a love you only get from home. This will be my regular breakfast every time I'm back here.
CalebTyson 2 — Google review
The waitress was nice, but that's the only good thing about this place. Took 45 minutes to get our food, only to have cold undercooked hashbrowns, the biscuits were dry and the gravy bland. My pancake was good, but it's really hard to mess that up. I ended up just eating my eggs and pancake. Not good. As we left the busser apologized to us as we were walking out, we didn't even complain to anyone, meaning they over heard us and still didn't offer to replace anything.
Maike M — Google review
As a diner, this is the place is the for breakfast. Went there for just that! What really stick out for me was the service! What an A+!!! My coffee cup for example, was always full or topped off! Rare to find such coffee service now a days but thank you Jackie’s place for staying true to old ways of service! The atmosphere has just been updated it seems and has an at home feel! Classy place! The food was what you would hope for breakfast. It was good! The menu selection for breakfast is IMPRESSIVE! It is very well done, easy to read, and neat. I had the teriyaki beef a photo is in my post.

Came in to get a piece of dessert thinking it would help my migraine. Waitress was beyond rude. She first threw my piece of cake at the table where I was sitting, and then when I close my eyes because my head was excruciating and pounding, she yells as loud as she can, honey you have to stay awake so that the entire restaurant can hear

Biscuitclub is a restaurant that serves biscuits and eggs as well as coffees and specialty drinks. The biscuits are made at home, and the eggs are great. The atmosphere of the restaurant is creative with colorful tables and decorations streaming down the adjacent hallway for ample seating.
Discovered this hidden gem thanks to a good friend’s recommendation—and I’m so glad I did! Heads up: Google Maps sends you to the wrong spot—it’s actually on the opposite side of Third Street, so keep your eyes peeled. The menu has a great variety, including plenty of vegetarian options, which is always a plus. When you walk in, you place your order and then head over to a cozy seating area across the main space. I grabbed an egg and cheese biscuit to go, and wow—what a treat. The biscuit was freshly baked that morning, and the eggs were cooked over-easy right in front of me. Simple, satisfying, and absolutely delicious. I’ll definitely be back to try more!
Fabiana K — Google review
This place serves coffee and biscuit-centric food, see the name. They also have soda by the can and bottled water. Located on the vack lower level of a strip mall-ish city block, they can be a bit difficult to find from the main touristy area, but thankfully, there was. Small sign on the front of the building directing us around back. There is inside seating and picnic benches out under the overhang if you'd like some fresh air. Decent view of a pay parking lot and the water to the north. The food was hot and good, I recommend the biscuits and gravy.
M A — Google review
The biscuits here were delicious. I had the La Bamba, which had green chiles and jalapenos, and was just the right level of spiciness balanced out with the sausage gravy. The location is a bit weird; it’s on the lower level of an old mall building and the interior stairways are blocked off, so you have to walk around to the loading dock area off of 3rd Street to find the main entrance. Seating is dispersed in the old mall hallways and on outdoor picnic tables by the loading dock. However it is well worth hunting down to enjoy the delicious biscuit meals! This place was very crowded and popular, but the staff were friendly and efficient, and I thought gave terrific service!
Benjamin K — Google review
First time here and it's a hole in the wall kind of place. The address on Google says 4th, but signs tell you to walk outside down the stairs to backside where they take orders. But leaving went up elevator and door on the 4th Ave was open, so going in can use elevator, walk past the tables to where the café is set up. They've used old hallway space and set up tables. So that's the environment. I got Benny and the Jets, and hubby got heartbreaker. When they came it looked like... That's it. But we couldn't finish either one, they were very tasty and filling. So if you're hungry this is good comfort food
Rose G — Google review
Oh my gosh, this little establishment was absolutely fantabulous. We were going to our car in a parking lot after doing a little shopping on Main Street. There was a small strip of buildings adjacent to the parking lot and all we could see was the word biscuit… we had been talking about getting a good biscuit as soon as we arrived to Anchorage well this place is A++. The service was excellent. The décor was so inviting friendly and colorful. The staff was soooooo sweet and accommodating!! We loved every part of this BISCUIT CLUB… and did I mention… the BISCUITS…. awesome !!!!! my only disappointment was I did not get a T-shirt because there were none left in my size.☹️ but that just let me know for sure this place is great!!!
Brigitte B — Google review
Had the Loco motion (they're take on a Hawaiian locomoco) while it's definitely not the Hawaiian comfort dish it was absolutely delicious! I'll be back for more!!! No photos because it tastes far better than it looks 🤣

Biscuit Club is a total gem! The wait was long, but 100% worth it. The biscuit concoctions were so good — hot, fluffy perfection. Super cute little café with cozy vibes and fun energy. If you’re in Anchorage, don’t skip it… just be ready to wait (and drool while you do).

Humpy's Great Alaskan Alehouse is a laid-back hangout in downtown Anchorage, offering a vast selection of both international and local beers. The Tent City Taphouse within the alehouse features a carefully curated list of rotating local brews, including their own house beer. Recently, they collaborated with 49th State Brewing for a special dinner event featuring beer pairings.
The Hunters Pie was very good, highly recommended. My wife had the Cod Tacos and my son had the Blackened Salmon with rice. All the food was delicious. Service was great even though they were busy. It has a very nice outdoor area too.

Went here while in town with family, what a great place. Several of the in-laws were questionable and turned out to be the best meals while in town. Grant gave great suggestions and changed my wife’s mind on the halibut. The horseradish crusted was delicious and I had the Hunters pie. I love me some shepherds pie and this took it to the next level. Several had the seared ahi and said it was the best ahi they have ever had. Thank you for ending out Alaska trip on a very high note. Visited Humpy’s and was not disappointed! The smoked salmon dip was hands down my favorite, however the halibut fish and chips were definitely another. Great food, drinks and atmosphere. I’ll be sure to visit again, whenever I plan to make my next trip to Anchorage:)

We were given this restaurant as a recommendation from our bus driver while driving to Anchorage. It turned out to be a great hit! We thought the food was great! We got the halibut and chips, the patty, the crab roll. Omg they were all delicious! Great food, great place to stop in for a bite to eat. Next time o go back to Alaska, will stop in.

First of all Fiona and Catherine were excellent servers at the bar where we sat. We watched them work so hard and be so pleasant. The food was excellent. We had the halibut tacos and the halibut burger and both were great. The place was very busy but had a great vibe. It’s a restaurant and sports bar. It’s not loud so you are able to talk. We were not there when there was live music. We went on a Wednesday night.

People referred me here as a “dive bar,” but I didn’t see anything “dive” about it. Great service and delicious food. I arrived too early for the dinner menu, but the halibut fish and chips were terrific. Highly recommended!

We had the Golden Crab, Crab Roll, Crab Patty Melt, and Caesar Salad — everything was outstanding! Fresh, flavorful, and generous portions. The place is super friendly and absolutely worth recommending!

Gonna start with this... TRY THE CALAMARI! Not sure what sort of crack they put in their seasoning but it was exceptional! On the outside - crunchy! On the inside succulent (only word I can think of!) Even the aioli was spiced perfectly! This was an absolute hit! Ordered the halibut tacos and they were good - maybe a tad underwhelming for me in that halibut is a heavy/fleshy fish and I felt like it could have been seasoned slightly better. It was supposed to be slightly blackened but I didn't taste that. The aioli was OK and the candied jalapenos didn't taste candied! Overall it worked and the portions were excellent! This dish came with multi coloured tortilla chips and salsa which I actually thought were devine! They had a nice saltiness to them that complimented the tacos! The sockeye salmon burger was good but perhaps a touch overcooked. The fries that came with it were good. Service - excellent! The staff that served us was excellent! Tried a beer on their rotational taps which was really good! This place is probably what it is hyped up to be in the evenings with the beer flowing and the food following! With live music - I can not imagine how this place would not be an instant Anchorage favourite!

Simon & Seafort's Saloon & Grill, affectionately known as Simons, is a renowned restaurant in downtown Anchorage offering breathtaking views of the Alaska Range and Cook Inlet. Since its opening in 1978, it has become a local favorite with a loyal following. The menu features delectable aged steaks and fresh seafood, including signature dishes like Asiago-almond crusted scallops and Norton Sound Alaskan red king crab legs.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A Memorable Dining Experience with a Touch of Nostalgia Simon & Seafort’s Saloon & Grill truly delivered a memorable dining experience. From the moment our party of five walked in, we were greeted warmly and seated promptly, which set the tone for a great evening. The ambiance is something special — it carries a nostalgic 70s vibe with a touch of elegance that makes the space feel both classic and fancy. It’s the kind of place that transports you back in time, in the best way possible. I ordered the 16oz ribeye, and I have to say — it was cooked to absolute perfection. Juicy, flavorful, and expertly prepared. While the smashed potatoes didn’t quite hit the mark for me due to an unusual taste I couldn’t quite place, it didn’t take away from the overall meal. The rest of our group had a fantastic experience with dishes ranging from the fish and chips to some of the best hamburgers we’ve had in a while. One of the standout features of our evening was the window seating overlooking the water — it added a peaceful and scenic backdrop to our meal. Simon & Seafort’s is definitely worth a visit if you’re looking for a unique and satisfying dining experience in Anchorage.

The security guard at the Museum of Natural History gave us a recommendation. So we arrived at your restaurant on the recommendation of Kelvin. From the time we were seated until the time we left the restaurant we were treated in nothing less than Grand fashion. Our waitress was attentive and helpful with offering recommendations on appetizers as well as entrees. Her recommendations were spot on. The calamari for an appetizer. The smoked Cherry single batch Bourbon drink as well as a blueberry mojito. They were mixed to perfection. The halibut cheeks as well as the black cod were cooked to perfection and definitely to our liking. The sides were absolutely delicious. Easily one of our better meals we had during our two-week stay in Alaska. We certainly appreciate the recommendation, we certainly appreciate the attentiveness of our server and the quality of the food served. We will definitely return when an Anchorage again

This was probably our best meal in Anchorage. We couldn’t get a reservation in the main room so we ate in the bar. It was a great option as we had a great view and a great server - Lacey! Don’t let the unpretentious front fool you. The Smoke&Bourbon drink was cool and delicious, and the beer and wine were great. The calamari was tasty albeit a bit heavy on the breading. Excellent crab stuffed halibut which was big enough to split! Really enjoyed the short walk to get here from downtown. This is not one to miss. VictorB

Amazing restaurant in Anchorage. If you can’t get a reservation, you can sit open seating in the bar which we did. A lot of seating in the bar, including overlooking the water. Get there early if you want those seats. Service in the bar area was excellent. The sourdough bread that came to the table was excellent. Our waitress was wonderful and the Caesar salad was very good. A lot of lemon in the Caesar dressing, but it really turned out well. Got the halibut cheeks and I’ve never had halibut this good. You could tell it was incredibly fresh and the texture was amazing as it was prepared perfectly.

Came here on a week day for early dinner, it was packed, so family and I had to take the Saloon area. While it was cozy, it was terribly noisy and busy. Food was ok, nothing special really, (the calamari was chewy), definitely overpriced. The drinks however were great, could’ve had more if the bar had more staff (again terribly busy), and our server was nice. Not worth the visit in my opinion, solid 3 stars.

Excellent place on the first floor of three-story office building. Weight staff and service was top-notch from the drink never running empty to the warm bread served before the meal.. beautiful views facing the harbor. There was four of us and we each ordered four different meals and the seafood was perfectly cooked.. I would highly recommend this place, but it is pricey.

I have visited several of the longstanding restaurants in downtown Anchorage, and this establishment distinguishes itself as a venue of genuine fine cuisine. The dishes were refined, flavorful, and thoughtfully composed, reflecting the expertise of a skilled chef. Service was exemplary, with our server, Andrew, providing attentive and professional care throughout the evening. The only shortcoming was the crème brûlée, which did not meet the same high standard as the rest of the meal. However, as it was graciously offered on a complimentary basis, this minor imperfection did not detract from the overall experience. The restaurant also offers a remarkable view, which enhanced the ambiance considerably. In sum, I was thoroughly pleased with the experience and would confidently recommend this restaurant as one of the premier dining options in downtown Anchorage!

6 of us were on a trip and looked online for a nice seafood restaurant. This place came promising, we tried booking. Not available for the same day. Still we went there for a dinner on a Wednesday. Place was full so we got our place near the bar. I will say I was not impressed as the online Google rating was. The table looked clean but needed a second touch. When ordering, they said we just ran out of that fish. Balance orders came. However, we had to ask and wait for the plates and cutlery. As to the calamari, it was more breadcrumbs and fried. On a positive note they helped us share food. All the issues maybe because of overwhelming busyness. Not a bad place to try.

The White Spot Cafe, a classic diner in Anchorage, has been serving American favorites and Alaskan specialties since 1946. One of its most revered dishes is the halibut sandwich, which is a must-try for visitors. The sandwich features fresh fish battered and fried to perfection, served on a soft white bread bun with iceberg lettuce, American cheese, and tartar sauce.
Great little local spot with good food. The reindeer chili was super tasty. The halibut sandwich was a but bland but still good. The halibut melt had more flavor. The coleslaw was amazing. It was very creamy and sweet but wow, it was delicious. Great service.

Small, no-frills family operation that actually feels like family when you’re there. Open kitchen where you can watch everything happen. Owner caught the fish that morning and battered it right in front of me. Hand-cut fries, both fried to perfection. Great spot for people watching while you eat. Authentic and unpretentious.

What a great diner! Really good food in a traditional American diner setting. My wife had the chicken fried steak and the gravy was so good! I had the halibut sandwich - very solid. The fries are obviously had cut and were plentiful and perfect. If I lived in Anchorage, I’d eat here often.

Kava's Pancake House in Anchorage is a must-visit for brunch enthusiasts, offering an array of unique and hearty dishes that truly deliver on flavor and value. Known for its generous portions, this cozy eatery features standout items like the indulgent stuffed French toast and savory breakfast fried rice. Conveniently located near Louis Pena Field with ample parking, Kava's provides a warm atmosphere complemented by friendly staff who make every visit enjoyable.
Going out to eat at 8pm, I usually expect tired and annoyed workers and sub par food. Not the case at Kava’s. The servers were absolutely lovely. The food portion was great, price point was great. Perfectly crispy bacon. My dinner partner said they had the best French toast of their life! Thank you guys, I will definitely be back! 💕

This is probably the best breakfast deal in the entire state. Our skillet orders came with a side of toast or pancakes. We choose pancakes, expecting 1 pancake. When our order arrived there was a short stack of pancakes on the side. I asked if it was a mistake and/or, if this was meant to be shared between us. "Oh no," exclaimed our server, " you both get a short stack. Why do you think so many people keep coming back!? They are good pancakes!" She wasn't wrong. I'm a bit of a pancake snob and I have to say one bite from this short stack and I was instantly transported back to my childhood and flooded with memories of sitting at Mama's (my grandmother's) table with my siblings and cousins excited to spend a weekend morning in her presence and with one another. I will definitely come back to this spot!

Went to Kava with my family for breakfast. The reindeer sausage was flavorful and didn’t taste overly processed, which was a pleasant surprise. The waffle and French toast were a bit on the dry side, but the pancakes were a standout...fluffy and delicious. We also appreciated that they offered sugar-free syrup. Service was ok, not great, but not bad either. Overall, and ok spot for a family breakfast.

This place is amazeballs. This is my third trip visiting my friend and each time I come I come here. This time around I ordered the deluxe loco moco and my friend ordered the biscuits with gravy. Mine came with a side of pancakes. Let me just say…the deluxe loco moco was so freaking good. The portion size is incredible. My friend and I probably could have just ate that together. It’s very flavorful but simple dish. You will not go wrong ordering any of the loco mocos. The PANCAKES!! You get 3 pancakes!!! They were heavenly. I hate I couldn’t finish them all. My friends enjoyed her biscuits with gravy as well. Lastly I ordered the mango cake to go and OMG…don’t pass it up. Super light and refreshing. 10/10 would recommend again and again

Mahalo to Kava’s which has a Hawaiian twist to breakfast. The menu had a plentiful list of choices to choose from. I ordered the Reindeer Sausage Breakfast Platter. It was delectable. They fried the Hash the way I like it. Extra Crispy. The eggs complimented the flavors of the sausage quite perfectly. We had a party of 20 and they were able to accommodate quite effortlessly. They also serve lunch and dinner. So whether you’re an early bird or looking for a pleasant meal for lunch or dinner coast by Kava’s and enjoy an establishment with Hawaiian style meals that entertains your tastebuds.

If ever in Anchorage, AK, stop by Kava's Pancake house for breakfast. This place is Polynesian owned. The food and service was great. A variety of food to choose from and, more importantly, coffee ☕️. Don't forget the Beautiful view as you leave.

First and only time visiting this establishment. The food was ok. That is the best past. Now for the rest: coffee was bitter and undrinkable. The place is rundown and dirty. The bathroom is gross with a toilet that hardly flushed. The service, what service? Waited and waited for anyone to greet us after being seated. Finally brought us coffee, but forgot about the creamer until we asked for it again when the food finally came. The server never came to check on us and at the end we had to ask for a check after waiting for her to notice we had been done for quite some time. I would give this place zero stars. Check out Southside Grill for breakfast. Skip this place. PS my husband says if you show up in your military uniform you get better service.

This place was an easy win for us! Right off the main road, it has plenty of parking with a stunning view across the street of the Chugach Mountains! The prices seemed steep until we got our almost overflowing plates. Wow! I took home half my chorizo fried, the amount of which I would have had to pay $20 for anywhere else. The pancakes are a knock-out win. So buttery and delicious. Giving 4 stars for atmosphere because one employee was loudly airing out some personal issues and it was slightly distracting for us. But truly would eat here every day if I was a local!!

The Alaska Native Heritage Center offers a comprehensive experience of native culture, featuring exhibits, films, and demonstrations. The center showcases traditional dwellings in a woodland area, constructed with local timbers and adorned with whale bones. Visitors can immerse themselves in the heritage through regular exhibitions, events, performances of local dance, language, and cooking. Located just west of downtown Anchorage, the center hosts workshops and shows ranging from world music gigs to film festivals for indigenous productions.
This is a MUST SEE! I visited with my two teen sons, and they truly enjoyed it. We caught the demonstration of the Eskimo games. You need to see it to understand the level of skill they have. We have been back in NC for a week, and I've seen my son's in our gym trying to do the high kick. They also did a demonstration of a harpoon throw. We tried it but we're not very good. It was a great learning experience. The houses really intrigued me. It was not what I expected. I encourage everyone to visit and learn the history of that region. The walking tour was perfect because our guide shared stories of her region, which was the most northern area. Each guide is from a different area. We saw the dancers, and it was nice to hear songs in their native language as some of the regional languages have been lost due to colonization. They offer military and senior discounts.
Kimberly G — Google review
The museum is small but full of knowledge in an interactive way. I think our favourite part was talking to the crafters in the lobby. Each had wonderful stories about their projects that helped me learn about their lives in the north. We loved chatting with Marg the elder. We also saw different types of lodgings and a traditional dance. That all and Marg best of luck from your two Canadian friend in you wedding.

We had my daughter’s quinceanera here and it was just so amazing. Everyone had such a good time and they opened the back for the quests to walk around. From start to finish the entire staff was amazing and made this a memorable event. The event was such a success we now have people asking about points of contacts and pricing. If you are looking into places to host your special event don’t pass up your opportunity to have it here.

There is a free shuttle from the downtown log cabin. $30 entry and the attendants were very helpful explaining the tools and building as you walk through them. The free shows are nice to watch as well. Plan for around 1.5-2 hrs here.

Had a wonderful time learning about the native culture. It is a great place to learn about the culture and unfortunately what was done to stifle it in the past. The demonstration of the native games and dance was great. The tour of the various types of dwellings that were built across such a wide range of climate and conditions was enlightening. Shout to to Zach our guide who was not only very knowledgeable but super entertaining as well. I highly recommend a stop here.

If you are seriously interested in learning about Alaska, you just visit this center. The gallery about the various people groups is fascinating along with a timeline of settlement of the territories. The hard truths are presented well to make us all think and reflect. There are informative films and demonstrations in the main building that were very educational. I highly recommend taking a guided tour of the various areas so you can learn as much as possible about the various settlements and ways of life.
Jonathan K — Google review
Awesome cultural experience, they have multiple native experiences such as story telling, songs, and dances by natives, so much info on the local tribes and history. Great place to visit and learn about the real alaska from the people who know best, many local craft options for sale as well.

Our travel agent booked us a tour here on Monday the 12th, but when we arrived, we found out that the center wasn’t open for the season quite yet 😅 … Despite the communication error from our travel agency, Mark (I believe his name was) offered to take us around their exhibits— which was more than generous! We greatly appreciated being able to see the dwellings of each tribe of Alaskan natives along with Mark’s detailed lectures of their history. I highly recommend 👍

Orso, meaning bear in Italian, is a popular dining spot located near Anchorage's performing arts center. The restaurant offers a menu featuring local seafood and grilled meats, complemented by an extensive selection of over 20 wines by the glass. The decor resembles that of a Tuscan villa rather than a typical bistro in Anchorage, with no deer antlers or beer rugs in sight.
For starters we had flat bread, for main course Parmesan crusted halibut and fresh catch of the day, king salmon with couscous , grilled asparagus, cherry tomatoes and olives. Well balanced dish!! For dessert we had the best bread pudding I had
Codlea — Google review
Disappointed in the quality of the food. The king crab legs were good, but the couscous wasn’t edible. The grilled squash and zucchini were just okay. The grilled asparagus was very good. Service was very good. All in all, I would not go back. Even with a 20% discount due to buying gift cards at Costco, I don’t feel the meal was worth the money. The Bavarian Hefeweizen was the best part of the meal. My husband had the grilled ribeye. We both felt we make a better steak at home.
Christine D — Google review
Walking into Orso, I immediately felt comfortable. The atmosphere is casual enough to keep things relaxed, but there’s an attention to detail in the décor and service that makes dinner here feel like a special occasion. I ordered the halibut, and honestly, it might be one of the freshest pieces of fish I’ve ever tasted. The flavor was so clean and bright that it almost didn’t need anything extra, though the light seasoning and perfectly cooked finish elevated it to something amazing. You could absolutely tell it hadn’t traveled far—anchored in Alaska’s seafood reputation, it tasted like the ocean in the best possible way. For dessert, I couldn’t resist the pistachio cake. I’m so glad I didn’t skip it because it was a showstopper. Moist, nutty, and subtly sweet, it had the kind of balance where every bite made me want to slow down just to make it last longer. It wasn’t overly heavy either, which made it the perfect end to the meal. The staff were warm and attentive without hovering. They seemed genuinely happy to guide first-time visitors like me through the menu, which added to the positive experience. Overall, Orso gave me exactly what I was hoping for in an Anchorage dinner: excellent local seafood, thoughtful touches, and a dessert I’ll be craving again soon. If you’re visiting, especially if you want to taste halibut at its freshest, this place is a must.
V. R — Google review
The food here was very good and we focused on seafood, namely, the king crab, and a halibut dish, both of which were fresh and delicious. A vegetarian colleague reported that the portobello mushroom parm was excellent. Service was quick and friendly and they have good dessert options too. The place gets very crowded and we reserved an early table to avoid the wait.

This was my first time visiting this restaurant. The food was superb and the atmosphere very casual and comfortable. The service was acceptable if a little slow. I will definitely consider this as a dining option in the future.
James W — Google review
This was recommended as the best place to get chicken parm in Anchorage. The chicken parm was good, although the pesto pasta had way too many vegetables, which I've never had with chicken parm. I'm used to Long Island Italian food. For that, 4 stars. Otherwise, food, service was good. I was surprised we had to pay for bread for the table though. We went September 11th.
John P — Google review
You must, you MUST eat at Orso once in your life at least. This experience has certainly been a culinary climax and I will most definitely be back when I'm back in Anchorage. I had the Red Copper River Salmon with Rosemary Polenta and Grilled Asparagus. I was absolutely thrilled with my choice after one bite. The only complaint is that there was simply not ENOUGH grilled asparagus on the plate. My partner who hates asparagus raved about the boldness of the flavor. Speaking of boldness of flavor - the Rosemary Polenta was powerful and I savored every single course grain. Finally the salmon was executed with precision. You will absolutely be missing out if you miss out on this wonderfully decorated restaurant with unforgettable food. Cannot recommend enough!!

A must visit. Fox News is on. The bartender was the best. She made me feel welcome and was just a gem! Order breakfast- it is the way to go. All other guests were locals so their conversation was so fun to listen to. Highly recommend for a true old school Alaskan experience. I know they voted for the idiot in power and I still ate there- bringing the true diversity this place needed. The only way we can change is to talk. And that is what I did here. Great place!

I really really wanted to love this place. But ultimately it’s meh. Let’s start with pros. The menu does have a lot of options allowing picky eaters to find their groove. The staff was very kind and the decor was nice to look at especially while waiting. I did Ike that they had a nice sized waiting area especially with it being cold. The food was not bad and the coffeee was good!! No the cons… the building was not in the best shape some areas looked as though it was falling apart. The food was very bland with not much flavor at all. It was very very similar to ihop actually. The burger was the best thing we had.

What a breakfast! The cool Alaska theme with history throughout is really cool, and the people working there are impressively nice. Our server was on point and knew the menu cold. The food came out fast, and it was all very, VERY good. 5 people were no problem for her to seat, serve, and maintain. I really regret not coming here sooner.

The food was good, nothing to complain about and as you would expect. The service was good - knowledgeable staff that know a lot of the regulars! Nestled within the Captain Cook Hotel in Anchorage, Fletcher's is a delightful pub-style restaurant that offers an eclectic menu featuring gourmet pizzas, fresh pasta, and seafood specialties. The cozy ambiance, highlighted by a stunning wooden bar, makes it an inviting spot for solo travelers or anyone looking to unwind after a day of exploration.

Although the restaurant was extremely busy, they did their best to get us seated as soon as possible and once noticed we hadn’t gotten drinks yet, the gentleman seating people came and actually served us as well. Seems like a very supportive and helpful staff. The grilled salmon was very tender, perfectly seasoned, and fell apart off the fork. The fingerling potato’s weren’t crunchy, but cooked to perfection. The fettuccini primavera was cooked perfectly el dente, I got it without mushrooms which I highly recommend as I don’t feel like mushrooms would mix well. It was a very light delicious pasta. The deserts were incredible I wanted to try them all but we settled on the crème brûlée and the strawberry lemon tiramisu. The crème brûlée had a perfectly golden caramelized top and was perfectly vanilla and creamy. You could see the vanilla bean in the dish. The strawberry lemon tiramisui feel like is named inappropriately as it is not a tiramisu, have no coffee and the lady fingers aren’t moist but it was overall very good as a starberry lemon cake but I just think it’s marketed wrong. Would definitely come here again.

This is the place we found Baked Alaska, the famous Alaskan dish but hard to made. It didn't let us down. Really good Alaskan food for captain Cook.
Yaohang L — Google review
Unfortunately disappointed. First dinner was the infamous Alaska Halibut F&C. The fries were good and crispy. The fish was without flavor except for the deep fried batter. Server was friendly, but for a not very busy time, it took 20 min for him to return to my table, at which point I'd given up on dessert. Second visit was to get that previously desired dessert - blueberry cobbler, which looked amazing on the menu. Ordered it to-go and host said about 5 minutes. Which while I realized 5 minutes was optimistic, I was greatly disappointed when it came out 30 minutes later. Rushing back to the room (on the other side of the hotel) to enjoy the cobbler while it was still hot & ice cream still cold, was greatly disappointed to be met with the fragrance of charcoal when I opened the box. The small pie shaped wedge of cobbler was burnt to a crisp - only the compote on top was edible. Needless to say, I will need to enact the 2 strikes you're out on this eatery. Which is disappointing for me as I've heard others had good experiences.

Excellent lunch and dinner options. Outstanding wine list, awesome cocktails and cool bartenders. Business brings me to Anchorage and Hotel Captain Cook. More often than not, I dine at Fletcher’s. From pizza to their delicious halibut, I have enjoyed just about everything on their menu. A favorite with locals and visitors. If you are arriving later in the evening, call ahead, and make a reservation.

Don’t spend $38.00 for the worst seared halibut dinner I’ve ever had anywhere. It took a good 20 minutes for the food to arrive and when it did the fish was cold, the broccoli was so hard and cold you couldn’t cut it and the tiny 4 potato slices were burnt but cold. The plate was sent back and my husband ate his 4 tiny halibut taco appetizers and I was still waiting another 15 minutes for the second try. When it arrived the fish was hotter but the broccoli and 4 tiny potato pieces were still cold and hard. Inedible. I told the waiter again and all he did was give an apology. No offer to remake but at that point I really didn’t want to try a third time. No offer to adjust the bill. I ate the fish and paid $38.00 for a piece of halibut which in my opinion was way overpriced for what you got. I would never go back nor recommend this establishment. What a ripoff and very disappointing for our first day in Alaska.

Ordered a salad that had fresh fruit and grilled chicken. The chicken was not cooked completely. I had to send it back to cook the chicken. The salad had very little fruit. Disappointing meal. Our other meal was also not the greatest. Nice waiter. Lacked a hostess. Disappointed that the restaurant did not compensate us for the undercooked chicken. That really could have gotten us sick and ruined our vacation. I don’t recommend this place.

Rustic Goat is a popular restaurant in Anchorage, known for its warm and industrial-chic ambiance. The menu features a unique twist on American comfort food and craft brews, including pizza, salads, soups, burgers, sandwiches, Roasted Game Hen, Dry Aged Rib Eye and more. The restaurant takes pride in its city culture and offers friendly hospitality. It's housed in a building constructed from reclaimed wood from a historic local cannery.
An awesome decor and a great place to eat and have some drinks. Ordered artichoke dip with pita bread. Serving size was generous and it was outstanding. Chicken wings were delicious. The berry salad was a treat. Apple and prosciutto pizza was good with awesome crust. Service was friendly

They had menus ready for us to celebrate our anniversary with our names on it. Artichoke appetizer was amazing the bread was fresh and fluffy. Noodles were nice and cheesy. Scallops were a little on the spicy side but good

The Rustic Goat is a must-try! We ordered several dishes. Hummus – I Loved the rustic veggies that topped the hummus. The hummus had that perfect creamy texture. THE HEAT MISER Pizza – Total standout! The crust was soft and flavorful, and the reindeer sausage with caramelized onions made it next-level delicious. Alaskan Scallops – The curry sauce was sooo good—spicy with a nice kick, so be ready for some heat. Shrimp Scampi – Good, but I’d probably skip it next time and try something new. Overall, super tasty with fun flavor combos that make it worth the visit!

During a trip through Alaska, we stayed in Anchorage and decided to try this restaurant. We were not disappointed. The atmosphere was really fun and lively. We had to wait a bit before being seated, but only like 10min. There were 3 people in my party and we all got different dishes. They all looked and tasted so good that we all shared some of our food. We also tested multiple desserts and they were also amazing and tasted so fresh! The waitress was also really helped and gave us the run down of the menu. We found out that the chef actually makes changes to and updates the menu based on the season, and it really makes a difference in the quality of the food. Overall we had a really good time and impressed with the food.

Our dinners were great - drunken clams with reindeer sausage and pork sausage, and the pasta. Off the charts flavorful. We could not get a table reservation so we ate at the bar. The negatives - the pita bread was under done and had to be sent back and still was not cooked enough on the second try either. So bummed that All the beer taps were not operational so draft beer was a bust. The bartender/server, Adam, seemed nice but almost too busy vs attentive for our needs. So, it was a 5 on food and a 3 on some other things. VictorB

Rustic Goat is hands down the most comforting food and atmosphere in town. I’ve lived in Anchorage my whole life and can’t say enough how fortunate our neighborhood is to have Chef Frazer and his staff. They genuinely care about not only cooking good food, but caring for their customers and each other. A rare find of compassionate, relaxed and caring staff, and the most divine food. Our biggest stressor is deciding what to get: it’s all so good. If it’s your first time the clams and sausage are to die for, their wings are our favorite ever, the nachos are always perfect and you can never go wrong with the specials or a steak. Don’t miss out on desert either!

I went for my birthday since it was one of the few "fancy" places open on Tuesdays. They printed out personalized birthday menus which was so cute and it's half off of dessert for birthdays. I got the elk, thai lettuce wraps, and creme brulee and both were very good. My boyfriend got the Kalbi bowl. If I had one slight complaint, its that the creme brulee tasted kind of burnt, like they torched it a little too long. But everything else was good
Chris B — Google review
I tried the chicken pizza and it was delicious, although there were only a few options to customize it. The Thai chili wings were very good as well. The only downside was the wait time. We were told it would be about twenty minutes but it ended up being closer to forty five. It was raining, so that might have caused some delays. Overall, the food was tasty and I would recommend visiting

Sami's City Diner is a retro lunch counter in Anchorage that takes diners back to the 1950s with its classic American food. The diner offers a diverse brunch menu catering to all appetites and food preferences, featuring traditional breakfast options, build-your-own omelets, and a huge breakfast burrito. Unique items like reindeer sausage add a flavorful twist to the dining experience.
Wonderful place to get a simple breakfast or lunch. Staff was friendly and we where seated fast. The food was comforting and delicious. The strawberry rhubarb jam was especially yummy, and upon asking about it we learned it's made in house. Definatly worth comming back to try more of the menu.

Basically what you would expect for a diner. Nice style clean quintessential diner feel. All day breakfast served until 10 at night and they have shakes and adult beverages as well. Our breakfast burrito was great, on par with many breakfast burritos I've had at Mexican restaurants. I was happily surprised. The sauce was ok and they had Tabasco and other hot sauces at the table. The burger was solid. Better than some of the other places I've tried in Anchorage already. I would get it again. My only gripe is that it is a little pricey especially the malts I found to be a little too expensive but it was certainly good. I would have preferred more shake and less whipped cream but hey. I would leave a 4 star but they were fast efficient and clean and food was cooked great so only issue is with price. Maybe they could consider a happy hour for the Malts and shakes.

My food is delicious. Started with a cup of clam chowder, house made. It really hit with the white pepper added. Monte Christo, my vote best in the state. Doubled with the house made jam made by the owner, a perfect blend of(you’ll just have to find out for yourself) made to perfection. Have not ate here in over decade but this place is good again. Better than good.

Such quick service I forgot to take pictures of the meals : / A blast from the past that stays true to the menu options as well serving up seriously satisfying diner fare. I'm a tourist visiting a local here & I can see it being the local favorite but a must-stop for anyone on the road. From the moment you pull up, the retro architecture is a nostalgic movie classic look. Literally right off the side of the road - for tight schedule. Expect quick fast & hardly options. Think classic diner staples done right, from fluffy pancakes to juicy burgers. And of course, no diner experience is complete w/o the sweet stuff. Their choices are classics as well... The malts & shakes are about as old fashioned as you can get; absolute perfection – thick & creamy (save room)!

We got her about 7:30am. It was busy so we new there would be a wait. Once the food came out at 8:10am it was cold and the eggs were over done. I don't mind waiting but to wait and then it comes out overcooked and cold is not acceptable.

My husband and I stopped in for breakfast this morning before we headed out on our road trip. It was our first time here. I was very pleased with everything!!! Our server, Samantha, was a hoot! She had a great sense of humor, quick on her toes, extremely helpful, and just an all around outstanding waitress. The food was ridiculously quick but so tasty. I highly recommend Sami's. Crush Wine Bistro & Cellar is a popular spot in Anchorage that offers a wide selection of wines by the glass or bottle, along with shareable plates, all in an unpretentious setting. The bistro has been a welcome addition to the town since its opening in 2010, providing access to a variety of wines beyond the typical California selections.
It's easily the best restaurant I've been to in Alaska. Everything from the service to the food was on point. The Halibut with the miso cream was the perfect dish. The fish had an amazing sear with a tender interior, elevated by this beautiful miso cream sauce. A must try and I will 100% return!

Delicious food, the roasted duck was cooked perfectly. Large array of drink options ranging from craft cocktails, a multitude of wines and homemade mocktails. The restaurant can get busy later in the evening, so wait times for food can be long. Food was presented well and tasted great. Reasonably priced for the quality of the dishes.

I always try to leave the review I wish others would write! First of all - this is by far the best restaurant we ate at in Anchorage and honestly one of the best we’ve had, and we are big foodies. That being said, we rated the service low because although our waitress was attentive and incredible it took 3 hours total from start to finish. Appetizers -*Oysters baked - oh my gosh probably the best ones we have had and we live on the coast! -Ravioli was creamy and delicious -Goddess salad was also very delicious Meals *-The salmon special was excellent. The flavors were incredible. One of the best salmon entrees we’ve ever had. It came on top of Parmesan risotto. There was a poached egg on top (which was delivered later kind of taking away from the overall presentation). Overall an amazing dish. -The prime rib entree was good but wouldn’t say it stood out when compared to the fish entree. Dessert They were out of baked Alaska so we got the crème brûlée and the chocolate graham cracker dessert. They were both delicious. Overall great experience. Only suggestion is that the restaurant could certainly benefit from some improved efficiency to decrease the length of stay for customers.

The place is nice and the staff too. Unfortunately there weren't many vegan options. There was a chance to make a couple of dishes vegetarian but no vegan option on the menu. Nevertheless the time I spent there was nice and even if they were very busy the staff was nice and helpful. The dishes looked tasty and elegantly plated some even artistic. They definitely have a proper Chef there. I'd hope in the future they'll have a couple of vegan options. for what I've seen the chef seems very capable to amaze us all.

We were recommended a visit to Crush by a local and looked forward to dining there during our one night in Anchorage last Thursday. While we were seated promptly and the drinks were great, our dinner took over an hour to arrive without communication from our server. When we finally asked for our salad first or crackers to tide over our hungry teen (after 55 minutes), we were denied both, told the kitchen was slammed and that they would get our meal out to us asap. Dishes trickled out over 20-25 minutes, meaning we couldn’t eat together. The food was delicious, but the service was disjointed and disappointing. Despite the server’s apology and mention of possibly comping items, nothing was removed from our bill. When we asked about it thinking she maybe forgot she had said that, first she came back with no, there’s nothing she can do. We told her how disappointing that was under the circumstances, and she said she understood. She then came back again and offered to comp a 3rd dessert - odd, since we didn’t need it and had already paid for two. It felt like a missed opportunity to turn a frustrating experience into a positive one. The bill was over $200 so choosing not to comp a glass of wine or a dessert that would have cost them $5 or 6 (if even) is just bad business. We had planned to buy a bottle of red to bring back to the hotel room. The tip was cut in half and the $20 they would have made on the wine sale forfeited...all for what exactly? Lost $, this bad review, and no future recommendation from us. In conclusion, we were confused and disappointed by the lack of hospitality. Would not recommend.

Perfect breakfast spot. I heard a customer called by their first name, which I really enjoyed making it feel like this is a great locals spot. My breakfast was good, leftovers were just as good the next day. All of the staff was very friendly and attentive. I felt the price was reasonable for the portion. The staff made us feel so at home, that I would definitely come to this place again and again. They definitely know what customer service is about. Come support a local business.

The atmosphere of this diner is very warm and welcoming! The menu is very creative, mimics a newspaper, and has plenty of interesting nuggets of information to keep you entertained. However, I should warn you, the portion sizes are huge! Overall, the food was pretty good, though the omelet was slightly on the salty side. This diner is pretty top notch.

I feel as though the breakfast might be good but the meatloaf from the evening menu was lackluster at best. I didn't get sick but you know when you eat something and your body tells you that it was a mistake, well that's what I experienced here. Kriner's Diner is nothing special and can easily be skipped. I would rather eat at a chain diner like Denny's than Kriner's. Please skip this restaurant, save your money for something that at least tastes better if not makes you feel good.

July 15th, 2025 Used to enjoy eating here. Good time the meal was bland. Mashed potatoes and gravy had sausage in it, but that isn't mentioned on the menu. I don't eat pork. They made another Mashed potatoes and gravy for me but it tasted terrible. That's my last time eating there.

Tequila 61 is a rustic-chic restaurant in downtown Anchorage that offers contemporary Latin cuisine, featuring local seafood and an impressive selection of tequila and mezcal. The restaurant combines traditional Mexican flavors with classic Alaskan ingredients to create innovative dishes. The fusion gastropub reflects its dual heritage, with a name that nods to its location at the 61st latitude in Anchorage.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Tequila 61 is a must-visit in Anchorage! We had an incredible meal here — hands down one of our best dining experiences on the trip. The food is authentic and absolutely delicious (don’t miss the tortilla soup or the salmon dinner — both were outstanding!). The drinks were just as amazing, and the vibe was perfect. This should’ve been our first stop in Anchorage and should be everyone’s #1 go-to spot. Can’t wait to come back!

From the moment we walked into Tequila 61, the ambiance set the tone for a relaxing dinner. The decor appear to be very well thought out and the flower bouquets are a very nice touch. The Latin music created a laid back vibe that made us feel instantly at home (we are visiting from Orlando). After an afternoon of hiking the Matanuska Glacier, our server Ana A started us with the berry soda and Popcorn Shrimp which was very flavorful. For our main entree, Ana A recommended the 14 oz Gaucho steak which was absolutely just what I needed. We also tried the Halibut and the Duck Confit Tacos as well as the Carne Asada Tacos. The Duck Confit was absolutely delicious!!!!! And for dessert, we wrapped things up with the Horchata Cornbread which was unexpectedly better than I thought it would be. Overall, I loved Tequila 61. If I get the chance to go again beforethe end of my trip, I'm going to try the Salmon.

Cocktails were really good! We weren’t in the mood for margs, but their local versions of a penicillin and a sazerac were really strong and delicious! We were satisfied with the chips and guac. The entire place should have been cleaner (reason for docking one star). Staff was very friendly!!

Best food we've had in Alaska so far. Largest jalapenos I've ever seen in the stuffed jalapeno appetizers. They were delicious, with a smokey flavor in the cheese stuffing. Al Pastor chicken tacos were divine, very flavorful. Waitress knew I liked spicy food so she brought me extra salsa to try on them. Great food and service.
Megan P — Google review
The Pork Chops Adobo is missing the rich, savory depth that true adobo seasoning brings to the dish. The flavors feel somewhat flat and unbalanced, lacking the vibrant punch of garlic, vinegar, and spices that typically define this classic recipe. Furthermore, the combination of refried beans served with rice feels mismatched in texture and flavor; I would much rather enjoy the hearty, zesty notes of Charro beans alongside my rice, as they complement each other beautifully and elevate the overall meal experience.

Beautiful atmosphere. Loved the decor and holiday decorations. Excellent cocktails but wasn’t brave enough to try the $40 margarita, and I am a margarita connoisseur. The tacos were good-we had the duck confit, shrimp tacos. The guacamole and salsa were good, but I wouldn’t write home about it (my Mexican mom wouldn’t say it’s good but she’s a snob). Definitely great for a date night!

Egg-to-ham ratio is a bit off. Too much ham, too little eggs. Ordered an extra avocado add-on for $2.5 but didn’t get much (don’t remember any taste of avocado after finishing the breakfast).

I can not say anything but great things about Midnight Sun Cafe. We, like other visitors, had first tried a different popular breakfast spot but which had hour+ long wait time. And for us, we did not want to wait that long. So we popped into this cafe. Its no frills serving good food, and good coffee. Service was really attentive. And sometimes you make a new friend. We met a lady that was on her way to exercise the YMCA. She shared some stories with us about living in Anchorage.

Stopped in before a hike to grab a quick bite. It was very busy and there seemed to be some training with new staff. We ordered sausage and egg bagel sandwiches. We were asked to pick out our bagels. We ordered a drink as well. We asked for the items to-go and planned on eating in the truck before our hike. It took quite awhile to receive the sandwiches, I walked up to the counter to make sure our order didn't get looked over. About 5 minutes later we recieved our sandwiches, they were not wrapped to-go, not an issue, counter staff offered to wrap them. We did not receive the Bagels I picked out, wrong kind of cheese and the bagels were slightly burnt. About an hour into our hike we both had some tummy issues, assuming it was the sandwiches. We may wait until seasonal staff is trained and try to go earlier to avoid crowds.

The two ladies that were working were very nice. Answered any questions that I or the other people in my party had. I opted for the ham and Brie Panini which was really good. For your side you can opt for chips or carrot sticks or half and half. A nice little option when someone wouldn't prefer something besides chips. Would recommend.

A nice little Cafe in the city of Anchorage. The food was really good and the coffee was good to warm up with after riding in the 40° weather for an hour. If you want to park outside during the day, you may need to use a parking meter, but that is no fault of the Cafe. I'll come back some time.

I work in the downtown area and frequently eat out for breakfast and lunch. I have been a loyal patron to Midnight Sun for many years, today that officially ends. From poor management, inconsistent quality and service over years I think it is time for me to throw in the towel. At this point I truly don't believe they are even making an effort, they just cash in on the fact that they're one of the only 'grab and go' cafes downtown. Good luck getting anything you order with consistent quality, and heaven forbid you need it in a timely manner. What's even crazier is that it doesn't matter whether or not you order online or call it. It is absolutely appalling and I will not be giving them another dime of my money.

Village Inn is a family-friendly chain known for serving homestyle American classics like chicken-fried steak and pot pie. Since 1958, this classic American restaurant has been a go-to spot for great-tasting food, friendly service, and a comfortable family environment. Their breakfast menu features made-from-scratch buttermilk pancakes, eggs cooked any style, and hot coffee on every table. While they serve breakfast all day, their lunch and dinner offerings are not mentioned as often.
Stopped in with the family for breakfast and it was an excellent experience! The food was amazing—both the Alaskan omelette and the veggie omelette were packed with flavor. But the real star of the meal was the hash browns—perfectly crispy without being too greasy. Our waiter, John, was by far the best—friendly, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed. Great service and delicious food! Highly recommend.

I've been here for years, and of course it'll change over time, never the same as it used to. Food is as decent as ever for a quick homestyle breakfast in the morning, or you can be laid bad and enjoy the coffee for longer. Service is always welcoming and friendly. Surprised to get the old fun yellow cup after so long. Great place to enjoy with family and friends.

It’s been a while since we visited Village Inn, so we decided to give it another try. We arrived on a busy Sunday, expecting a wait, but we were promptly seated. We had our orders ready and placed them right away. The waitress was friendly and brought us water and coffee. However, after that, we didn’t see her again. We waited over 40 minutes for our food, while others who arrived after us received their meals before us. No one acknowledged our presence or checked in on us. We were about to leave and go somewhere else when the waitress finally came with our food and apologized. The food was at least fresh and tasted good, but the poor service completely ruined the experience for us. We’ll be sticking to our usual small business breakfast spots in the future.
Eurika U — Google review
Where to start… You can tell management has been lacking for a long time here. When we arrived, party of 3. We were told there were no tables available. I counted 3 on the back wall and one on each side of the restaurant. It’s one thing to be short staffed but to have people wait 30 minutes to be seated at the same tables that sat empty. Wow. We ordered our food. My mother in law ordered the Chicken Fried steak skillet, that’s not what she got. My husband ordered a ham and sausage omelette with hashbrowns, he got a skillet. I ordered a Chicken Ranch sandwich, but you don’t actually have ranch on the sandwich. Ugh. I’m glad we don’t have to return as we were passing through. This place desperately needs some to organize them.

I used to love eating here but I will never be back again. My family was refused service and blatantly ignored by staff and servers. Tried several times to get their attention, waving at the servers just trying to get a menu at least. Waited 10-15 minutes and were refused service, just for being native, they had maybe 4 tables so it wasn't because they were busy. Watched as they served everyone else but looked at us and walked away not once twice three but FOUR times. If you are native, do not bother coming here, they do not want our business!! I'm really disappointed being discriminated against in an establishment we have gone to for breakfast for a long time.

Peggy's Restaurant, located in Anchorage, is a beloved local gem offering generous portions and a classic diner atmosphere. While the menu features traditional American fare without much innovation, the food is undeniably delicious. The standout items are their famous pies that have garnered quite a reputation. Sit at the counter or by the window for views of planes taking off from Merrill Field across the street. The staff is known for their warmth and efficiency, making every visit enjoyable.
We were driving and just figuring out that the airport that had the Cessna 152s was not the airport that we flew in on a Boeing 767 on when we saw a sign that said "Peggy's Restaurant" and it was cool and old. Then I saw magic: "FAMOUS PIES". I did a U turn in front of the airport and bounced into their parking lot. My wife was working on figuring out about downloading offline maps on Google so I just ran in and didn't quite expect what I ran into. It was SO AMAZING. Nancy owns Peggy's. Still making Peggy's Pies exactly according to the original recipe. When I walked in, everyone in the place (About 4 people), all turned around and looked directly at me. Nancy, walks over and GRABS MY ARM!!! Seriously. She grabbed my left forearm with her right hand and gripped it FIRMLY, and said "What can I get for you young man!". People don't touch people anymore. They especially don't arm grab. I kinda liked it.. So... What!? Young man!! I need my wife in here immediately. I told Nancy about the sign I saw for pie, my love for pie, and that I wanted to buy pie from her. She was so excited! I was too! Oh, and none of us had masks on except for one guy in the back. I told Nancy that I just wanted her to give me 3 pieces of pie that would make me want to leave an incredible review, and I really did go out to get my wife. I don't need a sweet Asian lady who can cook hitting on me at this stage in my life. So, my wife came in with me and we almost melted. The people started all talking to us. One lady was clapping for us and just carrying on because she was so excited to talk to new people. They were all precious. We got a piece of pecan pie, blueberry pie, and rhubarb pie. All 3 were spectacular. We saw the peak of Denali after waiting 3 days in the rain for it to shine. We slept in a campervan in a riverbed under a glacier, we walked the streets of Talkeetna, and of course we went back for 2 more slices of Peggy's Pies before leaving Alaska for now. See you again soon! What an amazing trip!

Ok local Diner for a breakfast. Doesn't look like much from the outside, but not bad food. The waitress got our orders mixed up, she was very nice. Parking is good.

If I could I would rate the entire experience a 10! One of the oldest restaurants in Anchorage alaska. Great retro lunch counter. Fabulous food, mostly homemade! I love the all-day breakfast. I had a four egg omelette with reindeer sausage and swiss cheese. The pies are to die for.

Good food and polite servers. The outside is a bit shabby, but don't let that turn you off. Interior and bathrooms are clean. The portions are really big. Wait time was a little long, even though there were only a few other people in the restaurant.

An Anchorage treasure, known for their ridiculously yummy pies. The menu is everything you might expect from a authentic diner. You can sit at the counter with the locals or take a window seat and watch the planes take off from Merrill Field across the street. The staff is extremely friendly and they are quick!

Excellent food! The atmosphere was diner/homey and the waitresses were attentive and friendly! We would go back.

Very inviting by sitting anywhere you please, the customer service is very professional, the foods is very delicious and hot, they even make custom orders if wanted! They made me a double bacon cheese burger even it was not on the menu, which was bomb! Def will be eating here and making it one of me regulars!

BurgerFi is a trendy and environmentally conscious chain that offers beef burgers, hot dogs, craft beer, and wine. Their menu features all-natural Angus beef burgers and hand-cut fries made to order. They have two locations in Anchorage and provide options for vegans as well. In addition to their tasty burgers, they offer frozen custard for dessert. The restaurant is known for its solid burgers, clean atmosphere, and excellent customer service.
I have been coming periodically to this location and if the food didn’t bring me back constantly, the phenomenal service sure has! Aka and the rest have been wonderful to interact with and make me feel welcome every time I enter the door. Furthermore, the fact that I forgot my wallet here and they were so kind as to keep it safe until I came back has left a lasting impression. For me, a restaurant’s staff is just as important as its food and the people here always leave me eager for my return!

BurgerFi is always a pleasant culinary experience. A variety of fine food, excellent gourmet burgers and chicken menu. Great onion rings and fries. A good selection of beers on tap. Very friendly, professional and dedicated crew with excellent customer service. Prices are OK if you consider the quality of their menu. It has an overall good atmosphere, and the restaurant is clean and well organized. *Follow-up review: Dear BurgerFi crew, I honestly have never been treated as well at any restaurant before. I really appreciate your kindness and generosity. You make me feel as if instead of getting a service I get friendship from you. No wonder why you are so popular. Its is not just the tasty food. I guess this is also part of how welcoming Alaska people is. I wish you great success. Blessings to you all. 🙏

Amazing food and an awesome experience. One of the best I’ve had here. We ordered a grilled chicken sandwich and a vegetarian burger. Sandwiches were really well made, with perfect amount of seasoning, flavorful condiments and soft but crispy proteins. Well done! Highly recommended.

Leroy's Family Restaurant in Anchorage is a charming, old-school diner that serves up generous portions of comfort food and breakfast classics. The warm hospitality from the staff, particularly server Chrystal, adds to the inviting atmosphere. While the Philly Cheese sandwich is enjoyable, many recommend trying their breakfast selections as they seem to be a specialty.
This place is a home away from home. Been coming here for 3 years now since I was stationed at JBER and always happy to eat here when I can. The servers are super nice and friendly and the food here is tasty and affordable. Can’t recommend this place enough.

Great place for a sit down for breakfast. It has a cheers feel to it. If I lived in Anchorage, I’d know we ruined name. Our waitress said as we left, “see ya tomorrow.” Our breakfast was really good. Everyone was happy. Service was excellent and quick by our waitress and additional staff filled coffee. The downside was the coffee wasn’t great. I will admit the biscuits and gravy was a little bland. I’d definitely come back and enjoy this place.

During our trip to Anchorage we tried to eat at a local place not necessarily on a tourist map. Leroy's filled the bill. This place is definitely a dive but that's really the charm. I opted for the Philly Cheese sandwich with fries since we visited close to lunch time, but in retrospect probably should have gone with a breakfast selection since that seems to be what they are best at. The amount of meat in the roll was a little disappointing but the flavor was good. The fries were very tasty and extra crispy, just as I like them. Overall, it was a solid 4-star lunch.

Flattop Pizza + Pasta is a laid-back eatery and bar located next to Humpy's, offering a menu of pizza, pasta, craft beers, and cocktails. The place has an urban vibe and features pool tables as well as a DJ on weekends. Named after Anchorage's popular mountain hike, Flattop offers a calendar of events including beer pong competitions and cornhole tournaments.
Stopped in for lunch while on vacation, had (some sort of spicy) cheese sticks--normally not about spicy stuff, but these were delicious. Pizza was awesome, we had loaded meat pizza--probably could have done without the steak but that is a personal preference...it was really good. Waiter was attentive and keeping busy. Recommended the ginger beer, the highlight of my Alaska trip, gonna be looking for it everywhere--not really a midwest thing, I guess. The only negative was the homeless guy peering in the window and talking to himself, kind of dampened the mood.

Overall average at best. Temperature and texture of food was just right, but lacked flavor. Many other places in downtown worth trying. Also, specifically, there are other pizza locations (and more) in midtown that have unique menu options and taste phenomenal! Midtown has the better eating scene if you’re a foodie. Service here was quick and friendly and the atmosphere was calm and inviting for a Saturday night. I did not have an alcoholic beverage, but it seemed to pair well with meals for others.

I never write reviews because I own a restaurant and I’m chill. Tonight changed that. Right off the bat, the energy of our bartender was bad, aggressive, and unwarranted. I’m sure all the staff will know who we are because we brought kids because our friends son turned 21 and we wanted to have a space where we could all go as well as food that everyone would enjoy. I came later and I personally felt like I was treated differently because I was with that table. You cannot change my mind on how this bartender treated us. This is how I make my living and if I had a server/bartender talk to us the way he did throughout the night, tonight would be his last night. He treated us like we were the drunk patrons at 11:30pm at night instead of the 7pm patrons who were celebrating with family. No matter if I was wrong or he was wrong, arguing with me at the bar and telling me he did nothing wrong is unprofessional. He should have stopped immediately and got his manager but instead he wanted to tell me how right he was. I went and asked for the manager in my own. The manager was great because what I needed to say is, he is going to get tipped the same but he needs to learn more finesse and professionalism or he won’t last long in an industry I hold dear to my heart. The food was great, the company was great. Our bartender just about ruined my short lived evening. Don’t judge a book by its cover. Oh, and don’t autograt without letting your customer know. I’m cool with it as long as you vocalize it. My friend had to tell me that you were adding Gratuity to everyone’s ticket. Only one of us knew. My rant is done!
The P — Google review
We had pizza and salad for lunch, and the food was excellent. We had a medium sized pizza that was really decent in price and serving size (it would be a large in most restaurants), and a large salad that could easily feed 4. The bar is laid back, and there were a lot of tables that could have used bussing sooner. We sat ourselves, and it wasn't clear if the bartender was also the server, but he was...they could definitely use more staffing! The service is friendly, but it did take a good while to get our pizza out. It is a no frills sports bar with excellent pizza.
Vanessa M — Google review
Pizza, nacho and wings are yummy. A small pizza (12") should be enough for 2 people. Medium (14") and large (16") and pizza by the slice ($5) are also available. There's a $10 lunch special for a slice of pizza and a salad. Beer on tap is nice too. Only one waitress is working during dinner on a summer weekday. She was efficient in handling the crowd by taking orders, sending the food and cleaning up all by herself. This place needs some cleaning up though. No itemized bill was given when we asked for the check. There's no pasta on the menu. P.S: visited a 2nd time a few days later and was shown the itemized bill and the lone waiter on duty was friendly and efficient. If you want certain dishes to be served first or later, you should advise the waiter or else all the food might be served at the same time. Tap water is served here too. There are 2 pool tables and a basketball machine for free play. I will come back here again as the prices are reasonable and the food is great. 3rd time review: this time the lone waitress didn't attend to us after we were seated down for a long time. In the end we've to go to the bar to order our drinks. The basketball machine is not there anymore.
Alex — Google review
If I could give zero stars, I would. When we arrived, no one greeted us, and there were no signs indicating whether we should wait to be seated or seat ourselves. We approached the counter and were told to find a seat, but nothing was explained about ordering. We later realized we had to place our order at the counter, which would’ve been fine—if someone had just let us know upfront. We waited over an hour and a half for a pizza, a sub, nachos, and fries. When the food finally arrived, everything except the pizza was burnt beyond recognition. No one checked in on us during the wait, and we were never asked if we needed anything or were ready for the check. This experience was incredibly disappointing. We considered saying more in person, but we had already ordered takeout for others waiting back at our hotel and didn’t want to risk any issues with their food. Unfortunately, after a long day of travel and several failed attempts at other restaurants, we didn’t have any other options. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone.
Brittany H — Google review
My first visit Flattop was quiet upon my visit Monday, during a snow storm! This is a sports bar with multiple TVs. Large number of beers on tap and reasonably priced food menu. I had the Ale House Pie (pizza to you and me). Very tasty and very well cooked. The crust was firm and crunchy and the toppings were cooked just enough to be warm and tasty. One of the best pizzas I have had in a while. Slight drawback was the time it took from order to delivery of the 'pies'. But I can appreciate that the time was used to properly prepare our meals. 4 stars at the moment as it was a very quiet night. I wonder how it is on busy nights? My second visit was on a drizzly Wednesday evening in July. I ordered the classic pizza. The bar was reasonably busy but still plenty of tables and booths. My order was taken quickly. The pizza was served 45mins later! So slow preparation times was a common theme. The pizza was crusty and very hot; literally straight out of the oven. It was nice but pretty much standard pizza. I noticed that the food menu was noticeably shorter than my last visit with not many options and only around 5 pizza choices. The small pizza was plenty big enough for one. The bar was far noisier with loud conversations and music. However, the music was adult orientated with offensive lyrics so I would recommend not bringing children for a pizza here!

I LOVE THIS PLACE! It’s one of the first places I went to when I turned 21 and now I’m 30 years old lol. I started going again this year for karaoke and I love it so much. The DJs are SO nice, the bartender’s Charisma and Cydnee serve you so fast and honestly make the best drinks. They work really well together supporting one another too, which is nice to see in a business. It shows this place has great communication amongst their staff. I even notice their manager checking in on them to make sure they’re all set. As a woman I feel so safe here. I also notice everytime I’m there that the crowds that hang out are pretty normal people which is nice. No one is out of control and they have a security guard to make sure no one is ever out of control/the space is safe. That’s an incredibly rare feeling in today’s world! GO FLAT TOP STAFF!!!

Harley's Old Thyme Cafe is a family-owned establishment that serves classic American breakfasts and traditional home-style dishes, such as chicken-fried steak and catfish. Although the restaurant may appear somewhat worn-out, it still maintains a decent atmosphere. The food is reasonably priced, with options like two bacon strips, one egg, 1 1/2 pieces of toast, and a crispy hash brown for only $8.
Went for breakfast on a Saturday. Seems like its owned by a local family and that come through in the warm atmosphere. food was good chicken fried steak was huge and it wasn't super expensive. The only thing was service was a little slow, but they where very busy when i went there and they got my food out quickly once I ordered all and all would go again.

Service is big deal for me it was seat yourself, everyone was friendly and seemed happy to be here. That's nice to see. Only reason not 5 star for food was gravy needs little more flavor. Otherwise it was delicious Chicken fried steak was huge and I didn't even get close to half. It was made from scratch. Side biscuits and gravy. The biscuit was so light and fluffy, wish I knew how to make these. Hash browns are just the way I like crunchy on outside. Eggs were perfect Eggs Benedict were also delicious, seems like the muffin was homemade also nice and light. EVERY tray that came out was HUGE next time we will share a dish and no coffee first maybe we'll finish it.

There is a place on 76th and Old Seward, it’s Harley’s Old Thyme Cafe!! I love breakfast here! Been here several times and this time leaving a good review as needed!!! Quick, great, & friendly service! Comfortable seating and the area is well kept! Great job team! The food! Always outside of this world good!! Today I had fried steak fingers and my buddy had chicken fried steak. Both great portions and had us licking our lips!! They have several hot sauce options which I love! I am a Spanish guy!! Then the coffee mugs are a favorite. Large and in charge! They keep it full too. Good for a coffee addict like me! Come seek this place out and you will become a regular as well!

A little restraint doing big things... their food is amazing and their service is nothing to shake a stick at with a smaller footprint there is a more homey feel and warm atmosphere that you just can't replicate in larger locations.
Jack D — Google review
Good spot for breakfast. I recommend going for the more flavorful and unique breakfast options rather than a traditional eggs, bacon and pancakes. They don't use real butter for the pancakes and the margarine is kinda bland. Bacon is okay - nothing special. My husband got the country fried pork, which was great. My daughter got the chorizo scrambled eggs and those were great-super flavorful. Just stay away from the more boring standard breakfasts.
Kara B — Google review
I ordered the country bumpkin with fried pork loin and my wife ordered the sourdough pancakes -- and she asked if pecans could be added, which they were happy to do. I rarely order anything called "country fried..." anything because all too often they are bland. But these fried pork loins were excellent. The sourdough pancakes were delicious with the good hint of sourdough goodness without being overpowered. I was disappointed by how long it took our order to come out -- several tables around us received their food before us and the staff said it was because their orders were easier. This is probably true -- but still -- the wait was too excessive. I guess they didn't have the fryer hot yet or the cook accidentally skipped our order until reminded. Very nice and accommodating staff though, so they still get 4 stars on service.

I walked throughout downtown anchorage looking for a breakfast place . I finally found Moose A la Mode. Fabulous find. Very helpful staff. Coconut green tea was worth the taste. Thank you Chloe for the recommendation . A must try restaurant
David H — Google review
This was my first time visiting Moose A'La Mode in Anchorage, Alaska, and I found this cafe simply by searching on Google for a top recommendation. Upon entering the cafe, you see a large menu of items. I wanted to try reindeer sausage for the first time as it is popular in Alaska, and opted to try it in the Denali Burrito. I also ordered a latte with a peanut butter flavour shot. Overall, the portion size of the burrito was good and actually rather large, as the pricing was a little on the expensive side for a burrito which came with nothing on the side. I did not enjoy the burrito and only had less than half of it, I found it to be greasy and quite salty, with no special flavour or wow factor. The latte was also okay, nothing special that was a must try at this cafe. The service was great though. The atmosphere of the cafe could definitely use some work in terms of cleanliness and keeping things tidy and appealing for customers dining in. Thanks

Came here for breakfast. Ordered the omlette with raindeer sausage. It was was delicious though a bit too salty. Also ordered Breve. The beans certainly were burned and the coffee tasted burned. The service was fantastic. The place has ok ambiance but needs a good cleaning, tidying up, and renovation. Decent street parking around.

Okay… the pancakes were delicious! Five stars! Very fluffy, yet moist, flavorful and buttery. The staff was very courteous and friendly. I would have taken a star away for the bacon, but the pancakes overshadowed it. The bacon wasn’t fresh at all but that didn’t bother me too much as I don’t eat bacon often. Other than that, everything else was GREAT and inexpensive.

Judy's Cafe in Anchorage offers a genuine and warm local experience, perfect for a quintessential Alaskan brunch adventure. The bustling vibe radiates a sense of community, making it an ideal spot to savor strong, good coffee. A friendly local artist greeted visitors, setting the tone for an enjoyable visit. Despite a little wait for a table, the service was great with helpful suggestions from the server.
This is the exact place I needed to have the perfect small-diner experience. I felt like the employees want to be here, not that they have to be here. No credit cards; cash or check only (they have an ATM). Similar menu to other places that serve breakfast, but everything just tasted better here, as if they make everything themselves.

This place fills up fast. A no frills breakfast experience. Reindeer sausage is an option. The cinnamon rolls are as big as your face and so delicious. They aren't made on site but from a local bakery. We came here three times during our Alaska trip, and I know we will wake up when we get home and wish we could go to Judy's for breakfast. Also cash only. There is an ATM inside to allow you to pull out cash.
Mallory C — Google review
What wonderful way to start the day! Judy’s is the diner’s diner. It doesn’t look like much on the outside but from my experience it’s usually these places that have the best, most comforting food. The atmosphere is typical. It’s very homey, warm, and inviting. The restaurant is clean and smells of coffee, eggs, and sausage. It’s exactly what you want in a diner. The staff is above and beyond friendly and welcoming. I ate with a local who frequents Judy’s often and the interactions felt like they were old friends and I immediately had the same feeling. The menu is expansive and offers everything you’d expect from a diner but with local ingredients like reindeer sausage. Per the recommendation of our local friend we all got the special, a reindeer sausage, cheese, and mushroom omelette. Here’s a quick synopsis of specials. These are usually items that try to use excess ingredients in a way to got rid of them in a clever way.any times, they’re mediocre. Judy’s is not that. While that may be the case, it certainly didn’t seem like it. So let’s dig in to the special. These photos are very deceiving. Like many places the food doesn’t look very spiced but let me tell you all the flavor is there. The hashed browns were tender in the center with the perfect crunch. I judge food based on what I need to add to them and these hashed browns needed nothing. Anything you add is just to add the flavor to your liking. The same goes for the omelette. While there was a lack of pepper, that’s just personal preference. The egg alone tastes great and each individual ingredient enhanced the flavors of the others. The egg was fluffy but firm, the mushrooms were soft and didn’t water down the plate. This was my first experience with reindeer sausage and it was mouth watering. All in all, the meal came in a large portion that will leave you filled and satisfied. The sourdough toast was a good side that came well buttered. The coffee wasn’t typical diner coffee however. Judy’s puts effort into each of their cups. It’s great for those who love black coffee or who like creamer. The staff as mentioned before was super friendly and always checked in to make sure we had enough coffee. Were they TOO attentive? Perhaps. However they didn’t linger long enough for us to stop our conversation dead in its tracks. I’m giving Judy’s 4 stars because the next time I’m in Anchorage I will be visiting again to try out other menu items. If you’re in Anchorage for any amount of time this is a great place to start your day.

Everyone was so friendly and the service was very good! Our coffee cups and water cups were filled constantly, and the food came out very quickly, even with a smaller cooking staff from what I saw, I applaud their hard work! The food was decently priced. Do keep in mind that they only accept cash or check, but they have an ATM on-site.

I took my friend here who was visiting from Massachusetts. On our way in, we ran into a famous Alaskan artist who had just dined here with his wife. He made us laugh, and said that it was a great choice for my friend, as this is a true Alaskan spot for amazing breakfast or lunch. We entered and there was a little bit of a wait, maybe five minutes for a table, but there was immediate space at the counter. We chose to wait. She ordered the 2x2x2, which was two pancakes, two eggs, and two slices of bacon. I got the waffle with two eggs and two slices of bacon. Our coffee was strong and good. Our food was generously proportioned and yummy. We had a great conversation and really loved the vibe of the place and the service from a very nice waitress. We had a fantastic visit, loved the folks that frequent this local establishment. Can't wait to come on Sunday and try the eggs Benedict that is served only on Sundays. I also really want to try the biscuits and gravy.

Loved the food and service. I would definitely recommend chicken omelette and crispy chicken salad. Fries were little salty for my liking but overall very tasty food. Very friendly staff.

Tent City Taphouse is a modern gastropub that pays tribute to the hardworking individuals who contributed to the establishment of the Alaska Railroad and Anchorage's early days as a tent city along Ship Creek. This family-owned gem not only offers cozy indoor seating but also expands into an inviting outdoor cafe-style area during the summer months, located on the south side of 5th Avenue Mall.
We had an excellent meal here while on a pre-cruise tour. My salmon burger was outstanding. Tasty and fresh. It was just perfect. But even better were the garlic cilantro fries! I shared them with the couple sitting next to us and Ive made two lifelong friends! Thanks, Tent City! Worth a trip to Anchorage just for those! My cousin’s halibut was excellent. Tender and so juicy. Perfectly cooked and not greasy. Oh yea, the beers were great, too! Excellent, friendly service.

Our tour guide was batting 1000 with his restaurant recs and this one was no different. Started with the duck fat fries and asked for them to be extra crispy!!!! Perfect and full of flavor!!! Main was their belgian waffle with chicken tenders and a scoop of pineapple-coconut ice cream!!! This is what heaven must be like!!! The ice cream paired beautifully with the chicken and waffle. Pure bliss!!! Service was excellent too despite the restaurant being crazy busy with all the tour groups!!

We did not have reservation but immediate seating. Order was taken quickly and food was served quickly. Not sure if the Pilsner was brewed there or not, but it was very good. Highly recommend. Cod was good/fresh and the batter was nice and thin. Lost a star because the fries had way too many ends & pieces. See pic.

Came with a party of four and we were able to be seated right away which was great considering this was on a holiday weekend. Ordered burgers and the short ribs with shrimp and grits. The two year old in our party said it was the best food she’d ever had. We enjoyed the anchorage style burgers with the jalapeño bacon. Short ribs were pretty good. Also had a hazy IPA which was good. Nothing mind-blowing food wise but overall we all agreed we would dine there again.

This was a very pleasant surprise. What seemed like just a mall restaurant turned out to be a nice, cozy place with a great menu and tap list. The tap list was all Alaska craft beer, a nice chance to try beer from breweries I didn't expect to be able to visit. I had a hazy from Black Spruce Brewing in Fairbanks that was excellent. If I had not been full from my excellent dinner, a spare rib poutine, I would have explored more. Service was good, but not top notch as the server did not really know the beers when my wife asked. But she was still fast and very pleasant, so it is understandable. I would return here.

This is my new favourite place in downtown anchorage. Good selection of beer. Decent price. Clean & modern bar. Bright. I didn’t order any food this time but it looks good. Will try some on my next visit for sure.
M M — Google review
We did not eat here but really enjoyed the draft beers. Loved the IPAs and the heavy porter. Also, the story behind the name and location is quite interesting. That classic (ancient) cash register behind the bar is also very cool. The T-Shirts/swag is also cool so I bought one for ~$20 ! VictorB

Tent City Taphouse is quite the hidden gem! Stopped here on a whim for a quick lunch and was not disappointed. As a lover of sour beers, it was awesome to see the vast selection of sour beers available. The food was immaculate as well. We ordered the Chowder and Pelmeni to start, which were both amazing. For entrees we ordered the Halibut & Chips and Beef Tips, both of which were delicious! Our server, Kayli went above and beyond to make our experience great! Kayli even offered samples of two of the sour beers when I was torn between choices. Overall, if you’re considering a place with great food, great drinks, and quality service - definitely consider Tent City Taphouse!

Cafe
The Writer's Block Bookstore & Cafe is not just a typical coffee shop, but also an independent bookstore. It serves as a community gathering place and offers local cuisine, house-made eats, and a variety of hot and cold refreshments. The cafe features an expansive patio that is perfect for enjoying summer activities and entertainment. Located near Far North Bicentennial Park, it provides easy access for visitors.
Cool local spot with warm your soul eats and a nicely curated selection of books. Well labeled sections with a children’s area, Pride Month picks and local Alaskan Authors. The cafe was busy even on July 4th with a tempting drink menu of coffee and spirits as well as Hot Chocolate for the littles. We got the Beans and Rice Bowl with Reindeer Sausage (the sausage is ELITE!), Beet & Mint Salad, and the Taboule Salad. Everything was so fresh and served with huge smiles!!!

My favorite coffee shop by far & Poetry Slam each month is awesome as well. Super friendly folks, good for a cappuccino or a glass of vino 🍷
Luk S — Google review
This place has a good, warm and cozy vibe with comfortable seats and Wi-Fi. There's no shortage of books, but the vibe seemed to attract people plugging in and chilling more than shopping/reading both times I visited. There's plenty food options to choose from (bfast and lunch/dinner), along with some creative cocktails and a coffee shop quality drink menu. My golden milk latte was decent -- unsweetened, but had a good amount of spice. I got here right at opening time one day and was told several food items weren't available without me having to wait 30+ minutes. The chile verde breakfast burrito I settled on was decent/satisfying. The salsa helped a little, but there wasn't much flavor to it. It's a good spot to relax and read, but the food/drinks left me a little underwhelmed.
Kessashun A — Google review
There isn't anything like Writer's Block where I live in California and it's a shame, because I love this place. The food is tasty, the coffee/tea lattes hit the spot, and the staff are all lovely. The only reason this isn't 5 stars for me is both times I've come into Writer's Block to read, and both times, despite sitting in a corner by myself with my book, I had another group or two of 2-3 who plopped down next to me and chatted the entire time. I ended up leaving earlier than I would have liked both times because I couldn't actually focus on my book. It'd be really nice if the "back section" was a quiet section for readers/studiers/people who just want some quiet, instead of folks who will come in with their laptops and hold meetings/converse with friends.

Although the setting was nice, the disrespect was loud. My sister went and performed a spoken word piece for her first time full of excitement! At the end of the night every performer, even one who left was acknowledged for their act, BUT my sister! The speaker looked her right in the face and proceeded to skip over her! As the only black woman in that environment who enjoyed her night and wanted to go deeper into spoken word, this was very disheartening and uncomfortable!
Kennedi E — Google review
One of my favorite places in Anchorage! Amazing food, top service, interesting events, and great selection of books! Check out their live events too! Poetry night was amazing!
Yaakov B — Google review
This is a really nice and cozy place to hangout with friends or families. Very spacious, got comfortable coach, nice decoration. However, I have to say, the taste of the drink was disappointing. We ordered one cappuccino and one holiday special chai roobio, both taste quite watery :(. there are parents bringing their kids there so could be a bit noise when kids were playing together.
Wendy Z — Google review
It's a very cozy place to feel at home. The Americano is a bit unique, like a blend of beans. The restaurant offers formal meals (breakfast is available) and high-speed wifi, so you'll need to clean up after your meal. The music is not too loud, so you can read and work.

Waffle Rush, a pancake restaurant in Glenn Square, offers a variety of breakfast and lunch items. The welcoming atmosphere makes it a popular spot for locals and visitors alike.
These Waffles with butter pecan have the richest and sweetest taste combination with the waffles and coffee. I even ordered a side of strawberries and banana because I liked the atmosphere of the restaurant. I would stop by in my next visit for sure. I couldn’t stop to take the picture before eating.

Deb is a wonderful person running the front. Her partner in crime is the cook. I forgot to ask his name. I ordered a surprise for my liege waffle. I also ordered three peice chicken. Southern comfort. All made from scratch ingredients. The flavor was bursting in each bite taken. I ended up with the rasberries. French raspberry creme. Wonderful crispy waffle with a bed of creme and rasberries. Overly savored each bite. I'd come back every day if I could. Well worth the visit in a small nook in the strip mall.

The Sweet Cream Alabama waffles were absolutely delicious light, fluffy, and perfectly sweet without being overpowering. But the real star for me was Mama Deb’s Tenders crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and packed with flavor. Everything tasted fresh, and the portions were generous. Definitely a spot worth coming back to!

My family and I went out to get Brunch. We never been to this place before, so we decided to check it out. Their service was exceptional right when we entered. The server literally explained everything and even gave my children details on the orders. She treated us like we were royalty. The food was delicious and there was a variety to choose from the menu! I totally would recommend Waffle Rush 🧇

Anchorage's best slept on breakfast spot. I am not exaggerating when I say this is one of the best restaurant breakfasts I have ever eaten. Casual breakfast spot run by a literal Mom and Pop duo. Mama Deb is on the floor and Pop is in the back. Mama Deb is also the absolute sweetest and very funny. I ordered the Raspberry creme liege waffle breakfast style, so it came with additional plate of eggs, hashbrowns and your choice of breakfast meat. I kid you not, every single food item was unbelievably good. I will be coming back often!

A very nice restaurant, my first time here glad I stopped in. The he restaurant is very nicely maintained and the service was excellent, not to mention the food being absolutely delicious and an a generous amount. Do stop in if you are in the area you won’t be disappointed.

Everything was perfect! With hand made biscuits (find an excuse to have them, they are the best I've ever had) to the hand made honey mustard (I couldn't ask for a better blend of sweet with the pepperiness of the mustard). The chicken? It was done to perfection. Waffles? The hand made Belgium Waffles? They were an absolute delight. I'm definitely going to becoming back.

So incredibly fantastic!! The food was amazing and the owner has the most wonderful sense of humor and makes you feel like y'all are right at home. Coming up from South Mississippi, we have pretty high expectations for food. The biscuits and gravy were so full of flavor and cooked to perfection. The waffle breakfast? Fantastic. Hashbrowns? Chef's kiss! Not to mention they make a mighty fine cup of coffee! We are so incredibly impressed.

The Pantry Café, located in Anchorage, is a popular breakfast spot known for its robust and smooth coffee and an enticing menu featuring authentic sourdough pancakes, delightful paleo eggs, a variety of omelets including the king crab option, eggs benedict, and avocado toast. The café offers exceptional service with friendly and efficient staff creating a welcoming environment for patrons to enjoy their meals.
This is my favorite breakfast spot in Anchorage. Coffee is always strong and not bitter. Menu includes real sourdough pancakes. This morning, I had the paleo eggs, and it was fantastic. I have also had the avocado toast, many of the omelets (love the king crab omelet) and the eggs benedict. Fantastic service and food. It’s fun to watch the people walk by in the hotel. Great place for a quiet conversation.

We stayed at Hotel Captain Cook during Fur Rondy. Probably because of the event, the cafe seemed busy especially after 7:30, so we ate breakfast only once during our stay. We went down there before 7:00 am but they had several empty tables but this was after the Iditarod. The employees were very nice and the service was fast. We ordered the sourdough pancakes and Alaskan breakfast. We have eaten reindeer sausages in Finland before but the one here did not have a strong smell and flavor so we enjoyed eating them for breakfast. The pancakes were a little flatter and not super fluffy but that might be because they were sourdough based so theyay not rise as other pancakes do. The Alaskan breakfast was very nice and well rounded especially if you need a hardy breakfast before going out into the cold. Would recommend at least trying here once during you stay in Anchorage.

Good extensive breakfast menu. Some menu items might include toast (sourdough or wheat), check with the waitress. A jug of ice water is placed on every table.

The server was excellent in taking care of our family. Coffee, water and juice refills were prompt. The food was excellent. Highly recommended.

I will definitely return! The service was great, the food was amazing and I enjoyed the atmosphere. I had reindeer sausage for the first time, and while good, I had to cut the skin off as it was hard to eat.
Peter F — Google review
This place does not know how to cook eggs. I asked for over hard and my kid asked for over medium. The white was so runny neither of us could eat our eggs. Don’t order eggs here. Rest of the meal was okay. Service fair, nice atmosphere. I’d give it a four if the eggs were not so poorly done.
Glenn C — Google review
Stayed one night at the hotel, and stopped by for breakfast. The service was fast, and workers were friendly and efficient. My blueberry pancakes could have been cooked a bit more, since parts of the center weren’t fully cooked through. Bacon was a little over cooked.
