Moraine Lake, located about 9 miles outside of Lake Louise village in Banff National Park, is a stunning glacier-fed lake known for its distinctive blue-green color. During the summer, the thaw brings out the vibrant beauty of this natural wonder, attracting visitors to explore its hiking trails and take in the breathtaking scenery. The surrounding peaks offer opportunities for hiking and provide panoramic views of the picturesque lake below.
Beautiful lake between mountains, stunning views everywhere. It’s a nice and easy walk all the way to the southwest end of the lake, where the trail ends at some wide rapids. You can rent a canoe here, for the (I think absurd) price of 160 $ per hour (that’s one hundred and sixty, yes), but there is still a line usually.

One of the most special, magical and incredible places in the world. The view is just magic. You feel a connection with the place that is hard to explain. The pictures are not great enough to capture the amazing view. About the place: You can explore different trails there to get to know the place. In order to get to the lake you need to take the Oficial shuttle of the park.
Rafael M — Google review
My favourite lake in all of Canada, nothing compares to this incredible shade of blue! It’s unlike anything I’ve ever seen before. This place feels truly special and simply being there is a beautiful reminder of how amazing it is to be alive.
Cristina — Google review
⭐ Spectacular! Moraine lake and the ten peaks. So beautiful it is a MUST visit. No regrets! Some said the view on the morning is stunning with the sun shining on the peaks. Am happy to be there in the late afternoon as it is less crowded. Can walk on the beach but lots of pebbles and stones. Will need to book and take a shuttle to Moraine Lake as it is off limits to vehicles unless staying in the lodge.
Bugwagen — Google review
Decided to walk along the road of Morraine Lake today , weather is sunny and not too cold .The view is stunning ,has flowing river and small water fall ,12 KM walk ,it took us 3 hours to the lake and 4 hours back due to issue related to hiking shoes.
Muhfaziah M — Google review
Very pretty lake, beautiful views, you can soak in the nature, breathe in and take nice pictures. The parking lot is decent, there’s washrooms and short walk so definitely must try! Top tourist spot so it does get busy, there’s a cute bakery shop and yes it does sell samosas! Also, the bathroom’s smell super bad so please be careful!
Ramneek ( — Google review
One of the rare places on earth that actually looks better in person than in the millions of photos that have been taken. Unreal colours, truly spectacular location that should be (and clearly is) on everyone’s bucket list. Worth any amount of hassle and crowds to get a glimpse of one of the most beautiful places on the entire planet!!
SGuard6 ( — Google review
Absolutely stunning lake with crystal clear blue waters. Arriving early is going to give you the best views and allow you to enjoy the scenery without the crowds. Can be a little difficult to figure out the Park Canada Shuttle but recommend Moraine Lake first in the morning. The 2 day advance shuttle tickets are a great way for late planners to join the fun.

Maligne Lake, located in Jasper National Park, Alberta, is a picturesque destination featuring Spirit Island and stunning views of mountains and glaciers. The lake's vibrant colors and breathtaking glacial mountain vistas make it one of the most photographed natural sites globally. It serves as the starting point for popular hiking trails like the Skyline and offers activities such as kayaking, canoeing, and fishing.
We had a great experience moving lake. It was amazing view. There is some few trails down there if you are interested to do some trading, but you can go with your family and spend some time there. There is a really nice restaurant there. You can try the food. It’s amazing you can also do a cruise which will take you to small tour. We did not do it.
Dilpreet K — Google review
My fave lake during my 2 week, travelling trip to Canada (more so than Lake Louise). It’s quieter (I went at the end of August), it’s picturesque, there are lots of trails you can go on. There’s a beautiful lake view restaurant and a FAB ice cream and waffle shop. I bought a Christmas decoration from the gift shop. You can go on boat trips (I didn’t- pre booking is essential). And you can kayak (booking on the day only, so everyone has an opportunity). We did a route called “moose lake”. The small “pool” lake was very peaceful and moose are often found grazing in there. We actually saw a moose in the main lake that was a joy to see and apparently he’s often there, showing off to visitors! If it’s wildlife you’re after, we saw a grizzly on the way back down the mountain, about 8pm. Having spoke to a lot of people in the area about this encounter, they all had photos of the same bear in the same area, so I think he also is a creature of habit! Finally, we had lots of food in our RV, so we stopped the next day at lunchtime, on the way up to the lake at a river best, rest stop on the left side. It was so joyous! They have fire pits with firewood to use for free! As well as picnic benches and the odd chipmunk to watch. It’s extremely picturesque and well maintained!
Sarah R — Google review
One of the most beautiful lakes I've ever seen! Located in Jasper, it is quieter than most lakes but still a beautiful turquoise blue that takes your breath away. We took the Maligne Lake Cruise to Spirit Island and I highly recommend it!
Stephanie Y — Google review
Beautiful lake to spend time at. We did a boat trip out to spirit island which was excellent fun and informative. We also did a short walk after along the edge of the lake.
Kim W — Google review
Amazing views with mountain backdrop. Didn’t do the cruise as it felt little overpriced and had other activities planned for the day. It can be an excellent picnic spot however there aren’t a ton of sitting areas near the water (reason I am docking a star). Either, you’ll have to walk further along the trail to find a good spot or sit away from the water. Plenty of parking with 2 overflow lots up the hill from the main parking lot.
Abba J — Google review
Maligne Lake is absolutely stunning and one of the highlights of Jasper National Park. The turquoise water surrounded by mountains is breathtaking, and the boat trip to Spirit Island is unforgettable. There are also great hiking trails around the lake, making it the perfect spot for both relaxation and adventure.
Luca — Google review
Maligne Lake is one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever visited. The beautiful water surrounded by towering mountains feels like something out of a painting. Walking along the trails, every turn offers another stunning view — from peaceful forest paths to lookout points where you can see the lake stretch endlessly into the distance. We took time to just sit by the water and enjoy the calm, and it was incredible watching the reflections of the peaks change with the light. There are boat tours that take you out to Spirit Island, which is truly magical and worth every minute. The air feels so fresh, and there’s plenty of wildlife and scenic spots for photos. Even though the area has been affected by fires, the natural beauty still shines through — and it’s amazing to see how the land is healing. If you love nature, photography, or just peaceful places, Maligne Lake is a must-see in Jasper National Park.
Lina H — Google review
Absolutely beautiful! Lots of trails to walk, some off the path. The lake itself is beautiful and clean! They have lake tours for a pretty penny, and you can also rent canoes to go on the lake. There is also a restaurant nearby! The drive up is a little long, but beautiful sights on the way up.

Lake Minnewanka, located just minutes from the town of Banff, is the longest lake in the Canadian Rockies at 28 kilometers. Visitors can enjoy picnics, hiking, and mountain biking along its northern shores. A guided boat cruise offers a unique perspective of the lake's beauty and shares its intriguing history, including the submerged summer village of Minnewanka Landing. The area is also rich in wildlife, with opportunities to spot moose, black bears, and elk.
Very picturesque, laid back and peaceful. The boat ride was well worth going on. The lake looks beautiful, we were so lucky to have had the weather on our side.
Joe M — Google review
Lake Minnewanka is so beautiful, with this fantastic water color, and this scenic Rockies view. We are paddle board lovers, so my pictures are most taken during paddling. It has a good parking lot, but you should get there early, because it gets full pretty easy. Next time we go there, we will explore the trails.
Arianna C — Google review
Beautiful lake with amazing colorful mountains surrounding the lake. Wildlife are often seen near or around the lake. This is a huge tourist attraction as there is a boat launch where you can take boat rides around the lake. The drive up to Lake Minnewanka is stunning in the fall when all the leaves are in full color. There are trails for walking, rocks for sitting and soaking in the beauty. One of the must visits when in the Banff area.
S G — Google review
Very pretty lake, beautiful views, you can soak in the nature, breathe in and take nice pictures. The parking lot is decent, there’s washrooms and short walk so definitely must try!
Ramneek ( — Google review
Spending a day at the lake was a refreshing escape from the rush of daily life. The calm water mirrored the blue sky like glass, creating a picture so serene it almost didn’t feel real. Gentle waves lapped against the wooden dock, and every sound — from birds calling across the water to the rustling trees — blended into a natural symphony that melted away stress. What stood out most was the feeling of balance: moments of silence followed by laughter as families paddled by in canoes or kids skipped stones near the shore. The air felt cleaner, cooler, and full of life. Sitting close to the edge, I could see tiny fish darting through the shallows, while sunlight flickered on the surface like silver sparks. Whether walking along the path, taking photos of the sunset, or simply sitting still, the lake offered something rare — genuine stillness. As the evening came, golden light touched the treetops and the reflection deepened into shades of amber and blue. It was the kind of view that made you pause and breathe differently, aware of how healing simple beauty can be. Overall, my visit to the lake felt like a quiet reset button for the mind and soul. It reminded me that peace doesn’t always require distance — sometimes it’s waiting beside the water, asking only that you stop long enough to notice.
Pilai W — Google review
So pretty!! The amenities were also very nice. I do wish they had a better parking system for the actual boat portion, but we also went on Labor Day weekend so it was very busy. Overall though, it was really well maintained and beautiful!
Molly K — Google review
Wow!! Boat ride worth the travel and price! We were there the last weekend (11-13 oct 25) the boat was not pack like summer, it snowed the day before so was a little chilly but fine. Poor girls ( captain and guide) they told us that on the last day, they have to jump in the lake, its a tradition !! We also did one of the trail, amazing view, please bring bear spray and have at least a group of 4 for some trail.. we did not encounter any but with the snow the urgency of finding food become an obsession.. be aware
Caty J — Google review
I went on a stargazing tour and visited this lake, and it was absolutely stunning at night! You could see so many stars! It was one of those once in a lifetime opportunities for me, and I was greatful to be able to grab a few beautiful pictures of the night sky! I also went on a boat tour, and was able to capture the beauty of the lake as well!

Peyto Lake is a stunning glacier-fed lake located in a picturesque valley, renowned for its vibrant turquoise waters. Situated along the Icefields Parkway, it offers breathtaking views and ample photo opportunities. The best spot to capture its beauty is from Bow Summit, the highest point on the parkway, although it can get crowded during peak times. For a more secluded experience, take one of the trails leading up the mountain from Bow Summit car park.
This lake is just wow.. It is very beautiful lake. Hike is also easy, it’s paved so clean, kid friendly as well. View from top of the lake is spectacular. Washrooms are available in parking lot however to get parking spot is a challenge as too many visitors. Early visit is better to get parking and also nice pics of lake and yourself.
Navneet S — Google review
Peyto Lake is an absolutely mesmerizing lake, with a brilliant turquoise colour that looks beautiful in any season. The main viewpoint is a very short hike from the parking lot. You can also hike down to the lake, but is harder than the viewpoint. The atmosphere is unforgettable whether it’s foggy, snowing, raining, or sunny.
Harry H — Google review
Beautiful view. Easy short hike. For best view, go there in the late morning or early afternoon before the sun goes behind the mountain and shadow the mountain covers the lake.
Gazi M — Google review
The trail was a very steep trail but easy very short hike, its a bit challenging for new trailblazers so recommend support or slow route option. Definitely worth the view, look is so blue and pretty and shaped like a wolf.
Ramneek ( — Google review
This is without a doubt one of the most beautiful lakes in Alberta and in all of Canada. The short hike to the viewpoint is absolutely worth it, offering stunning scenery and photo opportunities. It can get quite busy, so it’s best to arrive early to fully enjoy the experience in peace.
Cristina — Google review
I loved Peyto more than Lake Louise. Blue water surrounded by mountains was breathtaking. Pretty normal hike (<1km) that leads to the deck to view this beauty. Parking available.
Sanna B — Google review
Peyto Lake was one of the most beautiful lakes I visited during my trip to Banff and Jasper. The short hike up to the viewpoint was absolutely worth it — the turquoise color of the lake is breathtaking and looks almost unreal. A must-see stop if you’re exploring the Icefields Parkway!
Ivy R — Google review
Peyto you have my heart ❤️. Around 700m hike from parking lot. Its hidden gem. Peyto lake looks very beautiful. Parking lot is big, washrooms on site. Observing Deck is great spot to enjoy this beautiful turquoise lake. Family friendly environment. If you are travelling to Columbian Icefield or Jasper its a quick scenic stop.

Bow Lake, located within Banff National Park, is a picturesque spot formed by the runoff of the Bow Glacier. The area offers various activities such as hiking and enjoying a meal at the historic Lodge at Bow Lake. Visitors can take a leisurely stroll along the lakeshore, particularly towards Bow Glacier Falls, which provides stunning views across the turquoise water.
such a breathtaking spot! The water is incredibly blue, and the scenery makes it feel almost magical. I was lucky enough to attend my friends’ wedding here, and it was truly majestic to witness such a memorable event in such a beautiful location. There’s a cozy coffee shop nearby, along with souvenirs and even a lodge if you want to stay longer. I didn’t get the chance to walk the trail since I wasn’t dressed for it, but I definitely plan to come back and explore more when I can. Highly recommend visiting if you’re in the area!
Dani — Google review
A gorgeous lake with stunning views year round. Each season offers something different. Quite peaceful and serene in the winter, vibrant in the summer. Atmosphere is beautiful, definitely worth a stop.
Harry H — Google review
Beautiful lake that perhaps has a less dramatic viewpoint than Peyto Lake but still worth a visit. Do note that it is more difficult to get out to the lakeshore when it’s wet as the foreshore area turns into mud.
John L — Google review
It's a really nice lake, even if it's not as well-known as Louise or Moraine. Definitely worth checking out, but the parking and facilities weren't great.
SaBa A — Google review
Alberta has many big and beautiful lakes. Lake Bow is also a great lake! It gives me relaxation and comfort. I recommend you to go if you have a chance.
A.P — Google review
Personally, I prefer Bow Lake to Lake Louise. Bow Lake has fewer people, offering a peaceful and serene atmosphere amidst beautiful natural surroundings. It’s only about a 30-minute drive from Lake Louise to Bow Lake, making it a worthwhile destination. If you enjouy hiking, there are several impressive trails, such as my favorite trails, The Onion and Iceberg Lake.
Wilson L — Google review
Bow Lake is one of the largest lakes in Banff National Park. Laying at the base of Bow Summit, you can observe beautiful mountain scales set with this gorgeous lake. Bow lodge, once a private residence and sold in 1996, has a “Provisions” area and small patio where you can enjoy a sandwich, coffee or dessert. They have a parking lot and it’s a very short walk to the lake.
Onthegoboomer — Google review
Easily reached by car with roadside parking and a viewing platform Bow Lake is a must-stop for any Icefields Parkway journey. Its striking glacial colors, peaceful atmosphere, and accessibility make it ideal for both brief visits and extended exploration. Whether you’re snapping a quick photo, paddling the turquoise water, or hiking toward the glacier, it’s a highlight that outshines its roadside appearance.

Two Jack Lake, nestled in Banff National Park, is a hidden gem often overshadowed by the more famous Lake Louise. Its tranquil emerald green waters and stunning mountain views create a serene atmosphere, perfect for various activities like kayaking, swimming, and stand-up paddleboarding. This picturesque spot also offers breathtaking reflections of Mount Rundle and is an ideal location for capturing starry nights and the Milky Way.
Two Jack Lake is a beautiful and peaceful spot near Banff, with stunning scenery and calm waters. Parking is available along the road, and I noticed picnic tables nearby, which makes it a nice place for a relaxed stop or picnic. Many people were out on the water canoeing and kayaking, bringing their own gear. It’s less crowded than some of the other lakes, and the natural beauty makes it well worth a visit.
Ivy R — Google review
On our drive home from Golden yesterday, we stopped at Two Jack Lake for a late lunch and it was the perfect decision. The views of Mount Rundle in the late afternoon light were absolutely breathtaking.
Rakesh K — Google review
Perfect Place to watch sunrise and sunset with view of Mount Rundle and its reflection in the lake. Perfect for a picknick or a little stroll along the lakeshore. Also a great spot for kayaking and canoeing 😃
Jens G — Google review
Two Jack Lake is an absolute gem in Banff National Park! The lake is peaceful, with stunning turquoise water and a beautiful mountain backdrop. It’s perfect for a picnic, paddleboarding, or just relaxing by the shore. There’s a calm, quiet vibe here that makes it a great alternative to some of the busier spots in the park. We especially loved catching the sunrise — magical reflections on the water! Easy to access and truly breathtaking. Highly recommended for nature lovers!
Pratik R — Google review
Two Jack Lake is one of those places that feels straight out of a postcard. The water has that classic turquoise glow you find in Banff, but it’s usually much quieter than the bigger, more famous lakes like Louise or Moraine. It’s perfect if you want peaceful views without the crowds. The area is great for a picnic, an easy stroll along the shoreline, or even just sitting with a coffee and soaking in the mountain reflections. If you’re into photography, sunrise and sunset here are absolutely stunning. You’ll often see kayakers or paddleboarders gliding across the calm water, which adds to the beauty. There’s also a campground nearby, so it’s a good spot if you want to stay close to nature but not too far from Banff town. Facilities are simple but convenient. Overall, Two Jack Lake is a hidden gem—calm, scenic, and a perfect place to slow down and enjoy the Rockies.
Vishaka P — Google review
It is a serene, emerald-green lake just a short drive from Banff, offering stunning reflections of Mount Rundle. It's perfect for kayaking, paddleboarding, or enjoying a peaceful lakeside picnic away from the crowds. Arrive early in summer, as parking fills up quickly, but the quiet views are worth it.
JINS L — Google review
Quaint little lake to stop by when you’re driving into Banff. Some parking, some bathrooms, picnic benches, and of course gorgeous views.
Marta B — Google review
Just so you know, the lake is "warm" by Albertan standards, which means you won't freeze in it. But the water feels cold. That said, it's still beautiful spot for photos, a picnic or to hang out.

This is a very beautiful lake. The water is often crystal clear. Sadly, last time I checked, you were no longer allowed motor boats on this lake due fear of invasive species. The wind on this lake can be terrible! One minute the water can be super calm and then the next the waves are huge and you are getting bashed around regardless of the size of your boat.

Abraham Lake, located in the Nordegg region of Alberta, is a manmade lake with stunning blue waters that rival those of natural glacial lakes. It has gained popularity among photographers due to the seasonal ice formations, particularly the frozen bubbles trapped in layers of ice during winter. The surrounding mountains provide a picturesque backdrop for capturing breathtaking photos.
We visited this place in summer but if you want most amazing experience then better to visit Typically mid‑January to mid‑February, sometimes December–March Lying along the scenic David Thompson Highway between Edmonton and Banff–Jasper, it’s a great detour for its dramatic mountain panoramas and clear lake views Popular photo spots include Belly of Abraham, Preacher’s Point, and the official Ice Bubbles ViewPoint off David Thompson Hwy

A true hidden gem on our road trip! We visited Abraham Lake and were lucky to catch it under the sunshine 🌟 absolutely stunning. We even spotted some wildlife while we were there. Just a heads-up: it gets super windy

This is just an incredible lake! I have never seen such a bright light blue color of water! There are mighty beautiful mountains around the lake. I am really impressed by this area. I highly recommend everyone to visit. Sanatoriums and hotels could be built here. Because unfortunately there is still not enough appropriate service. I am sure it is a matter of time.

Beautiful area, very quiet and serene. Located in the Kootenay Plains area of the Canadian Rockies. Stunning views in both the summer and winter. The lake typically freezes in mid to late December with the ice bubbles at their best from early-January to mid-February.

Lesser Slave Lake, despite its name, is actually the second largest lake in Alberta and is known for its excellent fishing opportunities. It's a popular spot for catching species like Walleye, Burbot, Whitefish, Yellow Perch, and Northern Pike. The lake offers great ice fishing and is less busy compared to other lakes in the area. Visitors can also enjoy a weekend getaway at Lesser Slave Lake which is just three hours from Edmonton.
Wow slave lake is really a hidden gem stone in northern Alberta only a 5 1/2 hour drive from Calgary some of the nicest sandy beach is I’ve been to. the Martin beach subdivision seems to have a blue pocket of beautiful weather, good place to sit catch some rays. also the fishing is quite good I was able to catch large jackfish and walleye! Make sure you keep your fishing license on you!

Pyramid Lake is a picturesque destination with a stunning mountainous backdrop, offering a serene beach, picnic spots, and a charming small island. As you glide across the calm waters of the lake, you may encounter wildlife such as loons, muskrats, and moose along the shore. The reflective surface creates an illusion of floating above the clouds amidst the breathtaking Rocky Mountains. Visitors can access the lake for activities like canoeing from various points including Pyramid Beach and other smaller access areas.
Pyramid Lake is close to Jasper which makes it super easy to get to. The lake is beautiful and peaceful; maybe not as breathtaking as some of the more famous lakes in Alberta, but still worth a visit if you are in the area. It’s usually pretty quiet with not too many tourists around. Parking is limited. There are a few trails nearby, but they’re not the most scenic, the main draw here is just relaxing by the lake.
Daria K — Google review
Visit: April 2025 A nice, simple trail, though it was a bit more difficult because it was muddy and wet when we went. It was very calming and relaxing, with not many people around. Mostly flat land, so not much to see, but scenic otherwise
Daniel T — Google review
They have 4 beaches, as you enter you will have turns for beach 1, 2, 3, and then main beach with a parking lot. There is a narrow trail for you to walk around and spectacular Mountain View’s. Pyramid Mountain is very prominent and on a clear day you will have a spectacular view.
Onthegoboomer — Google review
Such a peaceful and stunning spot in Jasper! The view of Pyramid Mountain reflecting on the lake is absolutely magical, especially during sunrise or sunset. You can rent kayaks, paddle boards, or just enjoy a calm walk across the bridge to the island. The water is crystal clear, and the whole area feels so relaxing and romantic. Perfect place to unwind, take photos, and enjoy nature’s beauty. Definitely a must-visit in Jasper!

Stunning Visited early morning (in August) to beat the crowd. The water was still, and there was a fog that was just starting to clear. Beautiful view of the mountain. Past some elk on the way in. Watched for bears, as had recently been sighted in area. Loved being so close to nature.

Pyramid Lake is a must-visit if you're anywhere near Jasper. The views of Pyramid Mountain reflecting off the lake are absolutely stunning, especially in the early morning or around sunset. There's a cool little pedestrian bridge that takes you to Pyramid Island, which makes for great photos and a peaceful walk. Lots of spots to chill by the water, rent a canoe, or even have a picnic. We didn’t rent a boat this time but saw lots of people paddling around, and it looked super relaxing. Easy access with parking nearby—no crazy hike involved, just pure nature vibes. One of those places that feels peaceful but also iconic. Definitely worth the stop!

Nestled in the heart of southern Alberta, Barrier Lake is a breathtaking man-made reservoir that captivates visitors with its striking blue waters and majestic mountain scenery. Ideal for kayaking and paddleboarding, this picturesque lake invites adventurers to glide across its chilly surface while soaking in the stunning natural beauty surrounding them. For those who prefer to stay on land, a moderately challenging hike leads to an incredible lookout point where you can marvel at both the Canadian Rockies and expansive prairie landscapes.
An amazing magnificent lake, the colours throughout year (especially autumn) are hard to believe - pictures rarely do justice. Many trails that are generally easy to moderate in combination with ease of access make for a busy and popular area.
SGuard6 ( — Google review
We visited Barrier Lake earlier in the day and had a great time Paddle boarding and Kayaking. It was a bit windy when we first got on the water, but by around 10:00 AM, the sun came out and the lake completely transformed. The wind died down, the water turned glassy, and it became the perfect place to just float and relax. By 11:00 AM, it started getting really hot, so we were glad we got there early. The parking lot was starting to fill up by then too, so an early arrival definitely pays off—both for a peaceful paddle and a decent parking spot. The mountain views surrounding the lake are absolutely stunning, and the water is incredibly clear. After about half an hour of paddling, it felt like we had the place to ourselves. Barrier Lake is definitely a go-to spot if you’re looking for calm water, mountain air, and a peaceful paddle—just aim to arrive early and bring sunscreen!

Perfect day trip from Calgary. The trails are well-maintained and offer a mix of forest and open scenery—ideal for nature lovers and photographers. The main parking can get crowded, especially on weekends and during peak hiking season. Arriving early helps secure a spot and ensures a quieter trail. The area boasts incredible scenery—mountain vistas, lovely lake overlooks, and wildflowers in the right seasons.

Lower Kananaskis Lake is an artificial lake surrounded by rugged mountains, offering camping, boardwalks, and cycling trails. It's a great spot for paddling, but visitors should be cautious of heavy winds. The area is known for its abundant wildlife, including bear encounters. While the parking and facilities are limited, the stunning views of the mountain range and the tranquil blue-green waters make it a must-see destination.
A beautiful and peaceful lake where I spotted all kinds of birds. It’s much quieter than other lakes in the area, which makes for a more relaxing experience.

Great Lake however I have reviewed upper lake as I find it much better. Lower lake is limited in parking, just has one washroom, may be one picnic bench and the trail down to lake is a bit steep but the lake it self is amazing. The view of the mountain range along with the blueish green water is amazing there is a dam with water flowing is a good view as well. Highly recommend a quick stop before or after going to the upper lake. Follow for more.

Accessible from the Lower Lakes day use facility. Often closed in summer to protect Bears from humans and vice versa. Can also be accessible from the power generation parking area or Canyon day use and camping area. The upper lake is easier to access and has the best day use spaces and trails.

if you want a lake and breath taking views this is the spot. Unlike Lake Louise, Lower Kananaskis Lake isn't crazy with tourists however, it is still very difficult to get a camping spot in the summer, they are filled up fast. But you can still enjoy a day trip of canoeing, kayaking and fishing in the lake or take a walk around the hiking paths. The water is very cold, even in late July so unless you're a polar bear swimming might be out.

Grassi Lakes, located near Canmore, is a popular destination for hikers and rock climbers due to its scenic routes. The Grassi Lake Interpretive trail offers a gradual climb through forested terrain, leading to the stunning aquamarine Grassi Lakes. Along the way, hikers can enjoy excellent views of a waterfall and the town of Canmore. The trailhead is easily accessible by car, with a large parking lot available.
Absolutely beautiful lakes after about ~1h hike, with a stunning blue-green colour and a very serene setting in the middle of the mountains and forests. There are two trail options to reach the lakes, one being very easy and the other more challenging with steeper sections. The views at atmosphere at the lakes make the effort completely worthwhile.

Beautiful, family-friendly hike! I visited Grassi Lakes Interpretive Trail yesterday and it was such a lovely experience. The trail is well marked and not too difficult, making it great for families, casual hikers or anyone looking to enjoy nature without a super strenuous climb. The views along the way are stunning, especially when you reach the crystal clear turquoise lakes at the top. There are two route options. The easier path is perfect if you are with kids or want a steady stroll, while the more challenging route rewards you with waterfalls and extra scenery. Both are worth it. Parking can get busy, so I recommend going earlier in the day if possible. Overall, it is an absolute gem in Canmore and one I would happily do again.

Just outside of Canmore is this neat hidden gem worth hiking to! The path markers are wrong as far as distance so anticipate a little more. The hike to the Lake is all up hill but coming back is all downhill. GPS will take you past it to the wrong spot to Whiteman’s Lake so when you see the sign for the parking lot take it! Port a potty’s have no sinks so bring wipes or sanitizer. This gem is worth the hike, people complain about it being busy but of course. It’s a tourist area and people come here. So don’t let that discourage you! We thoroughly enjoyed this. Took about 2 hours to hike up to it, see it and come back. We did spend a good amount of time there too!
T T — Google review
A chill hike with stunning views. Personally for me the interpretive trail was easier- gradual incline with a push towards the end on the stairs, but you wont feel it as the views will have you make frequent photo stops. Then make the loop to go down through the other side, which would be a steep incline all the way (and no views) if you choose to go up this way.
D T — Google review
Great views. Lots of trails around the lakes. Walked 9km. Beautiful and clear early morning . Easy route bypasses a lot of scenery but allows all levels of hikers access to the two lakes .

We took the unpaved road to go up to see this pretty lake from top, view was breathtaking but the road was super scary and steep and narrow so veey hard if 2 cars go up the same time, wish we had taken the lower parking to just see it but we wanted to see it from up so took that road, other than that Very pretty lake, beautiful views, you can soak in the nature, breathe in and take nice pictures. There is a nice loop trail that you can go on. Parking could be limited in busier months however we were here yesterday in mid October with no issues. The lodge is a very short walk away and was nice to visit with some more beautiful views on the second floor. On the way out, make sure to stop at the Natural Bridge.

⭐ Beautiful tranquil Emerald lake, which takes its name from the lovely green color reflected from the sediments in the lake. There’s a flat walking trail that we could take to walk round the lake, but it is quite a big lake. There are also bear signs/ sightings around the area so need to be careful if walking the trail. Can also rent a canoe 🛶 to go around the lake but it is rather expensive. Pix were taken in early June in the late afternoon.

Emerald Lake is one of those rare places that instantly makes you fall in love with nature all over again. Nestled among majestic mountains and evergreen forests, the lake lives up to its name — its waters shimmer with the most enchanting shade of emerald green, so clear and calm that you can see the reflections of the peaks above like a perfect mirror. The moment I arrived, I was captivated by the peaceful energy that surrounded the place. It feels untouched, pure, and timeless. The walking trail around the lake is easy and scenic, making it perfect for a quiet stroll or photo adventure. Every step reveals a new angle of beauty — crystal waters, wildflowers, and the soothing sound of nature in its purest form. I especially loved the view from the wooden bridge; it’s picture-perfect and gives you a full view of the lake framed by the mountains. It’s no surprise this spot is one of the most photographed places in the region. Canoeing across Emerald Lake was the highlight of my visit. Gliding gently over the calm, jewel-toned water felt magical — like floating in a dream. The silence, broken only by the soft splash of the paddles, was deeply relaxing. There’s also a cozy lodge nearby with a café that serves warm drinks and local food — the perfect way to end a day of exploring. The staff were friendly, and everything felt peaceful and well-kept. Emerald Lake is not just beautiful; it’s healing. It’s the kind of place that makes you pause, breathe deeply, and feel grateful just to be alive. I left with my heart full and my mind calm. A truly five-star natural wonder — serene, stunning, and unforgettable.

Vermilion Lakes, located in the Vermilion Valley near the entrance of Banff National Park, offer a convenient and picturesque setting for outdoor activities. Accessible by car, these lakes are popular among families and beginners looking to enjoy kayaking or canoeing without embarking on long hikes. Surrounded by mountains and trees, the serene lakes provide stunning reflections of the peaks.
I loved my visit to Vermilion Lakes — it’s such a peaceful escape with stunning views of the mountains reflected perfectly in the calm water. It felt like a hidden gem just minutes from downtown Banff. The area has several easy walking trails along the lakeshore that are perfect for a relaxing stroll or wildlife spotting. I saw ducks, geese, and even a few curious deer nearby. It’s great for photography, especially early in the morning or at sunset when the light is magical and the reflections are crystal clear. There are picnic spots too, so it’s a lovely place to bring snacks and just soak in the natural beauty. If you’re into kayaking or canoeing, you might find rentals nearby to explore the lakes from the water. A few tips from my visit: • Bring insect repellent, especially in warmer months — mosquitoes can be pretty active near the water. • Wear comfortable shoes for walking the trails. • The parking lot can fill up quickly on busy days, so try to get there early. • Don’t forget your camera — the views are spectacular from almost every angle. Whether you want a quiet place to relax, a nature walk, or some beautiful photos, Vermilion Lakes is a must-see when you’re in Banff. I’ll definitely be back!

Upper Kananaskis Lake, located in Peter Lougheed Provincial Park, is a stunning mountain lake offering various outdoor activities. Visitors can enjoy paddling and stand-up paddleboarding on calm days, but should be prepared for windy conditions. The lake is surrounded by scenic hiking trails with sweeping mountain views. For those seeking a more adventurous experience, kayaking at nearby Chester Lake is an option, although it requires a 5km hike to access the water.
It's a very nice circular route, about 17 km. In general, this route is considered average, but I would say that it is easy, the only thing is the distance, but there are no elevation changes, it takes an average of 5 hours to complete it. It is a very popular place for backpacking, camping and hiking.

Johnson Lake, located in Banff, Alberta, is a popular spot for swimmers and hikers. The glacial lake offers picturesque mountain views and a picnic area. It is known for its crystal-clear waters that are perfect for swimming, canoeing, kayaking, and fishing. However, the lake may be closed at times due to whirling disease affecting the fish population. Visitors can also enjoy leisurely walks around the lake to take in the stunning alpine forests and mountain peaks.
Stunning area. Family friendly with a nice trail that runs around the lake. Luckily when we visited the sun came out for a little bit.

Beautiful spot! Johnson Lake is a stunning place to visit, surrounded by forest with amazing mountain views. There’s a small sandy area for kids to play, and the water is shallow near the shore, gradually getting deeper, perfect for families. There are picnic tables around the lake, and it’s a great place for swimming, paddleboarding, kayaking, or just relaxing. Highly recommend arriving early, especially on sunny days. A peaceful, scenic gem!

Nice lake with some picnic benches, some parking, bathrooms, and a bit of a walking trail. Short distance from the parking lot. You can see the lake from the top of the lot.

Went on a Sunday afternoon in June. Not too crowded. Locals having a picnic or canoeing. Beautiful lake away from the hustle and bustle. Mount Rundle in the background.

Beautiful lake! The water is so clear and the colors are stunning. We were lucky to have sunny and clear sky day. The trail around the lake is well maintained and never boring. There’s a beach as you enter from the parking lot. It was busy, we saw paddle board, small raft and other small floatables. The trail is a loop. We started from the left of parking lot and as we went along we saw many spots you can sit on blankets, good place to use your hammocks, and could enter into the lake as well with paddle boards or swim. We also saw a rope that you could swing and jump into the lake. This is easier to get to once you pass the beach and take the trail. If you take the trail closest to parking lot to reach the rope you would have to do the loop and it’s towards the end of the loop. There’s two ropes one is higher, you have to be in the tree trunk to catch it and swing, the other is lower rope good for you get kids. There has to be a group of people to help out each other. We saw that there were people with paddle boards in the lake and the jumpers on the tree trunk, and one person with a stick and hook in the end to bring the rope back. To climb back up from water looked a bit tricky but doable if planned well. There’s picnic tables too and pit toilet. I would recommend bringing beach umbrellas, towels, picnic snacks, hammocks, swim suits, beach chair, water floaties. Come early in the morning to get good spots. To use washroom with water we drove to lake minnewanka where there’s good washrooms.

Johnson Lake is a hidden gem in Banff National Park. The surrounding mountains and forests offer endless opportunities for hiking and exploration. I recommend bringing bear spray. The lake's calm atmosphere and picturesque surroundings make it an ideal spot for a peaceful day out with family or friends. The lake's serene waters and stunning mountain backdrop make it a perfect spot for nature photography. Bathrooms are located in the parking lot and the trails were great for walking and the little bridge was a beautiful place just to stop and admire the babbling creek.

Nestled in the mountains just 2 km southwest of Canmore, Quarry Lake offers a unique experience with its grassy picnic areas and wooded hiking trails. Visitors can enjoy paddle boarding, swimming, and soaking up the sun in a relaxing atmosphere. The park features lakeside amenities such as picnic tables, sitting benches, and a designated swimming area along with breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains.
Quarry Lake is a true hidden gem in Canmore, offering a peaceful escape with absolutely stunning surroundings. The turquoise-colored water is incredibly inviting and adds to the lake's natural beauty, perfectly framed by majestic mountain views all around. The short loop trail around the lake is easy and enjoyable—ideal for a light walk with plenty of photo-worthy spots along the way. There are lots of picnic tables scattered around, making it a great place to relax with family or friends. What makes this spot even better is the access to water activities. Life jackets are available for free, and you're welcome to bring your own canoe or paddle boat. Swimming is also allowed, making it a versatile and fun spot to cool off during warmer days. The only consideration is the parking fee—$20 for 2 hours—but given the scenery and peaceful vibe, it’s well worth it. Quarry Lake delivers a picture-perfect outdoor experience. Highly recommended!

**Discover the Magic of Canmore, Alberta!🌲✨ I just have to share why Quarry Lake holds such a special place in my heart! This stunning park is not only a picturesque escape with the breathtaking Three Sister Mountains towering behind it, but it’s also the backdrop of two incredibly unforgettable moments in my life. 💖 It all started on my very first official date with my girlfriend. I remember how the sun was setting, painting the sky with gorgeous hues, and we walked along the trails, laughing and getting to know each other better. Fast forward to now, and I couldn't think of a more perfect spot to propose to her! Surrounded by nature's beauty, I asked her to be my forever, and thankfully, she said yes! 💍 The park is a haven for families looking for a fun day out—there are picnic spots, playgrounds, and plenty of open space for kids to run around and enjoy. Plus, it's dog-friendly, so you can bring along your furry friends for some adventure! 🐾 For all the trail lovers out there, you’ll appreciate the various paths winding through the landscapes, offering stunning views and plenty of opportunities to soak in the beauty of nature. Whether it’s a casual stroll or a more challenging hike, there’s something here for everyone. If you’re looking for a magical place to create your own memories, look no further than here! I highly recommend it for anyone wanting to explore, bond with family, and enjoy the great outdoors! 🌄❤️

One of the scenic lakes in canmore. It's such a beautiful place to visit anytime. Bring along your kids they're gonna have fun playing in the water. There's a life jacket free and available for everyone. You can walk around the lake. It's a loop. Do picnic, play some games . Parking is $ 20 for 2 hours. From parking you have to walk at least 5 mins to the lake so I advise you to bring a wagon for easy transport of things you want to take.

Quarry Lake is a peaceful gem with crystal-clear water and mountain views, I saw a lot of people swimming there . Great for a relaxing walk, picnic, or summer swim. Easy trails, dog-friendly, and lots of fresh air. Can get busy on warm days, so come early to enjoy the calm. Paid parking 10 CAD per hour bit pricy . There is washroom there .

Quarry Lake is an absolutely beautiful and serene spot, perfect for a relaxing day out! The access is really good, making it easy to get to. It's a fantastic place for camping if you're looking to spend more time surrounded by nature. Just a heads-up for dog owners: dogs are not allowed in the lake area itself, though there are plenty of nearby trails where they are welcome. Also, be prepared to pay for parking. Overall, highly recommended for its stunning views and peaceful atmosphere!

Devonshire Beach, located on the opposite side of Lesser Slave Lake, offers a clean and well-maintained spot for a perfect summer day. The vast lake with warm swimming waters and smooth sands provides a safe environment for families. Unlike crowded beaches like Sylvan Lake, Devonshire Beach offers ample space and is just 15 minutes' drive from town. While the beach may have some litter from dead trees at times, it's generally well taken care of with picnic areas and benches available.
Absolutely beautiful beach with nice views and soft sand. The water is clean and relatively chilly at around 10⁰ (50⁰F) making it a good place to swim and cool off in the summer.

So much beach! Beautiful white sand for miles. The lake is very shallow off of this beach. You can walk out for 500m and the water will only be up to your knees. Great place to bring the kids for the day. There is no store or concession near by so come prepared.
Scurvydan77 — Google review
The place is surrounded by pure nature and is very peaceful, with few crowds, which makes it great for those who enjoy quiet spots. I mainly visited to take some photos – it’s a nice location for that. There aren’t many facilities around, so it’s a good idea to bring your own food, drinks, and anything else you might need to enjoy the day. Unfortunately, I did notice some people had left garbage behind. It’s important that everyone takes responsibility and carries out what they bring in. Overall, not a “wow” experience, but still a good spot for a quiet getaway or a photo session in nature.
Bhuvan V — Google review
I recommend visiting with a family. It is safe with children - the depth is far. The bottom and the beach are cleared. There is a toilet, a garbage bin, parking, tables, a small canopy. I think people with disabilities can go down the ramp. There are other beaches nearby, but there are branches. Entry with animals is prohibited.
Roman T — Google review
Devonshire Beach, just north of Slave Lake, is absolutely majestic. When we visited, the clouds were rolling in, the waves were gently pushing toward the shore, and it all felt incredibly peaceful — like something out of a painting. This is a very big lake, and the beach is something else. The sand is ultra fine — worn down over the years until it almost looks like it came straight from a luxury golf course. It’s soft, clean, and stretches on for quite a distance. The grasses and reeds growing up from the sand give it a bit of a “Hamptons” vibe — but you’re smack in the middle of Alberta. Just gorgeous. There are multiple beach spots along the road, each with its own character. Honestly, it’s the kind of place that makes you want to stop, breathe it in, and just enjoy the view. Wonderful, wonderful place.

Often overlooked on the Icefields Parkway as you pass it not too long after the gates, Herbert Lake is still worth a short stop. This gorgeous glacier lake has stunning views of the surrounding snow-capped peaks and looks especially beautiful before noon when the sun shines both on the lake and the peaks. Rawson Lake is a stunning destination located in Peter Lougheed Provincial Park, offering an 8-kilometer round trip hike with picturesque views and a serene atmosphere. The trail features a lovely walk along Upper Kananaskis Lake before reaching the Rawson Lake cirque. While the hike can be challenging for beginners and those with knee or ankle issues, intermediate hikers will find it both difficult and enjoyable.
Highly recommend this trail. Steep incline for 3/4s of the way but it’s short. Took 1.5 hours up and less then a hour down with a break to admire the lake at the top. Hiking boots would be best but possible in running shoes if its not muddy. It was muddy August 31st when we went. The lake at the top is a view UNMATCHED. Nice powerful waterfall at this time of year too!

Did this hike hungover and would strongly not recommend. Outside of my own self inflicted misery, I would definitely recommend it to anyone in the area. The lake and view at the end is worth the climb.

Rawson Lake was absolutely beautiful! The hike was so much fun, especially with the waterfall along the way—it’s such a nice spot to stop and take in the scenery. While hiking up, you get awesome views of Upper Kananaskis Lake too, which makes the whole trail feel even more special. I went on a sunny day and totally recommend it—when the sun is out, the colours of the lake just pop and everything looks so vibrant. Definitely worth checking out if you’re looking for a fun and scenic hike!

Exceptional Lake its so serene. Let me tell you its not an easy hike beginners its gonna be hard if you have knee or ankle issues watch out and get your sticks but intermediate hikers will find it hard but fun. The hike can be quite steep and narrow on occasion but when you reach on top you will be blown away with the view. Highly recommend this. The trail starts from upper lake Kananaskis and you will need Kananaskis park pass to park your car. No washrooms so use it at the parking level. No water fountain so be prepared and not for kids and strollers. Over all for hikers I will highly recommend. Check out the images & videos and Follow for more.

Very fun and memorable day. The best place for beginners Very difficult to find parking after 10 am weekends. The ski pass is very pricey, hope we could do it more but pricy. All the beginners/greens are not super easy but very enjoyable, A bit steep some parts but doable As a beginner I first tried and the glacier express lift and then took grizzly gondola, eagle meadows run. It was good run to start

Its a beautiful place for sure but very busy and outrageously expensive. There were so many people that it was hard to get a picture without strangers in it.lol But the staff members in the hotel and coffee shop were wonderful. They truly cater to people with class and kindness. Adding 2 stars to my review.

The Lake Louise Summer Gondola is a fantastic way to enjoy panoramic views of the Rockies without a strenuous hike. I recommend riding in the open seats during summer to fully experience the fresh air and scenic vistas. While I didn’t spot any wildlife during my ride up or down, the view from the top is still incredible. Once you reach the summit, there’s an easy trail that winds down, offering more amazing perspectives of the mountains and valley below. It’s a relaxing and visually rewarding experience, perfect for photographers and anyone who wants to enjoy the Rockies with minimal effort. Tip for visitors: Try to ride in the open-air seats during summer for the most immersive experience and bring a camera to capture the stunning scenery.
Ian M — Google review
I liked the view when I went to the top but to be honest, this whole gondola thing was very normal. View was great but could be a possibility that I went in July and it looks better when snow is around. There is a photo booth where you can take a picture.
Mohit G — Google review
The Lake Louise Ski Resort & Summer Gondola is one of Banff National Park’s most versatile and photogenic destinations, offering year-round opportunities for spectacular mountain photography. Nestled in the heart of the Canadian Rockies, the resort provides sweeping views of Lake Louise, the Bow Valley, and the imposing peaks of Mount Temple and the surrounding ranges — all accessible within minutes by gondola. During summer, the Lake Louise Gondola is a photographer’s dream. The 14-minute ride ascends through lush alpine forest to an elevation of over 2,000 meters, where breathtaking panoramic vistas unfold. From the upper station, visitors can capture the iconic turquoise waters of Lake Louise framed by rugged mountains and glaciers. The viewing platforms and short trails near the summit offer ideal vantage points for sunrise and sunset, when golden light touches the peaks and deepens the blues of the lake below. Wildlife photography is another highlight. The area around the gondola is prime grizzly bear habitat, and sightings from the safety of the lift are common in summer. Photographers can also encounter elk, marmots, and golden eagles, making it an exceptional spot for nature and wildlife shots without venturing deep into the backcountry. In winter, the resort transforms into one of Canada’s premier ski destinations. Snow-covered slopes, alpine lodges, and the dramatic backdrop of Mount Temple create postcard-perfect winter scenes. The crisp mountain light, combined with the interplay of snow and shadow, makes for stunning high-contrast photography. A ride on the gondola or chairlift provides aerial views of the skiers below and the vast white wilderness stretching in every direction. Whether blanketed in snow or glowing under summer sun, the Lake Louise Ski Resort & Summer Gondola offers photographers a chance to experience the Rockies from above — capturing the scale, color, and wild beauty that make Banff National Park one of the world’s most photogenic landscapes.
Paul P — Google review
[Summer Gondola] - don’t believe the haters! And don’t go up with expectations to see wildlife. This was an absolute delight, and I’d recommend making time for it - especially if you’re already parking there for your trip up to Lake Louise/Moraine. The whole experience was peaceful, a cool perspective of Lake Louise, and provided beautiful views of surrounding mountains. We kept an eye out for wildlife, but knew we weren’t visiting at a time when they’re expected to be out and about. It’s really just a lovely ride, especially in the open chairlift (vs enclosed gondola).

Amazing spot with interesting history. Feels like going to a fairy godmother's house. Love the spot and the experience, but there definitely were some negatives. Staff was great, pleasant, and they provided excellent service. Between both of our sandwiches and chili we found 3 long hairs in the food. I guess when you are eating food in the middle of nowhere and it is prepared by people lodging for 5 days at a time you can't be too picky. Unfortunately we also may have heard from a little woodland birdie that management may not be too kind... I would love to give 5 stars for the experience, but that doesn't feel right. Come and enjoy the grounds, but maybe consider packing your own lunch to eat on the benches nearby.

Lovely tea house. Our server was very friendly. The chili and corn chips were great. Hot chocolate was hot which is good in near freezing temperature in October. We sat upstairs and saw a chunk of snow fell of the glacier with a thunderous sound. Price is reasonable.

Lovely little teahouse near the end of the Plain of the Six Glaciers trail. Prices are a little high but given the location I take no issue with this, and having a hot bowl of soup and some hot chocolate after a long hike is always a glorious experience. Staff were warm and efficient. I was certainly a lot happy giving this locally-run enterprise our tourist dollars than the snooty hotel café down below.

Hiking to the Plain of Six Glaciers Teahouse was an unforgettable experience! The trail offers stunning views of Lake Louise and the surrounding glaciers, making the hike well worth the effort. The teahouse itself is charming and welcoming. The staff were incredibly friendly, and we even enjoyed meeting the staff dog who was there that day. We enjoyed a sweet baked good and lemonade, which were both delicious. We had brought cash based on prior reviews and recommendations, but when we were there they had a card reader working, though I’d still suggest bringing cash just in case of connectivity issues. This is a must-visit for anyone in the area, combining beautiful scenery, a cozy teahouse, and wonderful staff.

This place was so magical. I love this concept! We went up to the viewpoint before coming back to the teahouse because we wanted to get the hard part done first. Everyone was so friendly and warm. The food was very good! We especially loved the cinnamon streusel cake. Will be dreaming of that forever. We are glad we didn’t stop at the other teahouse on our nearly 12 mile hike. This one seemed a little less crowded and less chaotic. Highly recommend. Thank you to the staff that makes this possible. It was a very welcome sight for us tired hikers.

Stopped by for break, cinnamon loaf and maple tea were wonderful. Spectacular views too! However, it was rather concerning to see a manager acting aggressively towards one of the staff . Completely interrupted the peaceful atmosphere and it was very uncomfortable for us to witness. If the managers act like this in front of customers, I can only imagine what it’s like behind closed doors. I do hope the server was okay and that this was a one-off, as otherwise it was a delightful cafe to visit

Nestled in a high-elevation location, Lake Agnes may be small, but it is renowned for its breathtaking scenery. The 4-hour group hike to the lake offers an invigorating workout and an opportunity to learn about the area's history from a knowledgeable guide. For those seeking a more leisurely stroll, there is a flat trail along Lake Louise with serene natural sounds and playful chipmunks.
Get to know this 7.4-km out-and-back trail near Lake Louise, Alberta. Generally considered a moderately challenging route, it takes an average of 2 h 39 min to complete. This is a very popular area for birding, hiking, and running, so you'll likely encounter other people while exploring. The best times to visit this trail are June through October. Dogs are welcome, but must be on a leash.
Mariia M — Google review
Came in late April when the grounds still mostly frozen so crampons are a must. The hike was moderately challenging but made the view more worth it. The tea house is closed at this time of year, so we just admired the mountains and snowy lake.
Forest B — Google review
Tea house is the most popular point. You can buy a drink and sit beside the lakeshore to consider hiking to Big or Little beehive.
Paul L — Google review
Beautiful lake. It’s about 3 miles to reach, we started at 5:30 AM so it was perfectly empty. We met some people at the lake. Yea house is open 8:30am-4 pm. I recommend walking around the lake . A lot of people on way back. But I think this is one of the most popular short hikes.
Marta S — Google review
Take the trail from lake louise to mirror lake and agnes tea house to get to this lake next to agnes tea house. It is a pretty easy hike thatvis mostly uphill. Remember if you want to get anything from the tea house expect to wait 30 minutes or longer and that they only accept cash.
Craig B — Google review
I cannot speak about the hike here because I booked a horse ride that reaches this lake, which I recommend for those on the lazier side like me!
Oscar E — Google review
Awesome lake! Tea house opens at 8 and a line on Tuesday. About an hour uphill walk for our crew of 8. A bit muddy after the rain 🌧️ 57 stairs at the end at the tea house by the small waterfall 💦 Helicopter is taking out the outhouse barrels for the first 30 minutes of the day 🚁 Parking is $37 and need to be at lake louise by 6am 🅿️ Thank you from your Arizona friends 😎😇🙏
Joseph R — Google review
Hiking level of difficulty is medium/moderate. You will pass by Mirror Lake before reaching Lake Agnes. There’s a Tea House beside it & a waterfall. It feels rewarding to have a place to sit down & rest and have a snack & drink after about an hour of hiking. I found it very surprising to have a cell phone signal. You have to hike a little bit up to go to washrooms. The path going up past the washrooms will lead you to Little Beehive. Hike for another 30 minutes & you’ll reach the top with even more spectacular views! If you walk toward northwest along the path on right side of lake it will lead you to either the Big Beehive that has a great view of Lake Louise below or to the Plain of 6 Glaciers.

Families can enjoy pathways for exploration and access to the Bow River. The park also includes a wading pool with in-ground spray fountains for kids to splash around in on the pool deck.
An ideal destination for families and couples. You can enjoy a cup of coffee and ski across the expansive area or simply stroll through the park. Additionally, skiing equipment is available for rent, and a free ski helper is provided.

Bowness Park has always been our favorite Fall spot. It's so beautiful that we keep coming back every year to do our yearly fall photos. It's also a great park during summer as there is a waterpark free for kids. Also, lots of people enjoy the bow river rafting with their own rafts or rental. Some people actually go swimming too, although I'm sure the water will be too cold. Winter is also beautiful as people can ice skate along the park. You can do a walking/biking loop trail from here to Baker Park, which is very easy. You will have to pass a nice bridge that connects the river. Path is open all season. There is also a path at the end (close to the green bridge) going up to the community residential area. People walk or even bike going up there. It is now fully developed. There is a lot of squirrel in the area, which is a treat for the kids. If you need to get drinks, there's a small shop that sells beverages, which is great, especially during the winter season. I love this park as it's very spacious and has a lot to offer. Also summer time if you get lucky, there's a guy that plays music and collects donations for a few charities.

Went there with family, it was the best! Everyone enjoyed the peaceful bow river. Took a long walk and it was 100% worth it. BUT BRING SUNSCREEN AND BUG SPRAY! There are lots of mosquitoes in the season I went, so be prepared! Raft rental available! We went up a ramp and followed a trail. MUST GO ON THAT WALK! there are stairs too if you prefer. A little park with flowers and cute bear statue too! Brings back memories when I went as a kid!!!
Selin — Google review
Great place to walk around, go for a picnic and BBQ if living in Calgary! There is a boathouse as well at a very reasonable price! You can book your picnic sites by calling 311. During the fall season the views are splendid, you can do fall photography at the best here. There is a cute tiny rail for the toy train as well. Benches, picnic tables are available all around the park. You can also bring your own portable stove and cook at any available picnic table. If you are booking picnic sites then you have your own shed and fire pit to enjoy
Rasgun — Google review
The view there was really mesmerizing and one of the best place to witness sunset near Riverside and also a great place. Can calm your mind and also has a damn scenery in fall.
Dhruv P — Google review
A park where you can experience a splendid summer. Despite recent issues, it's still a beautiful neighborhood. If I lived here, I would be so happy. I should come back for a barbecue later. Walking along the quiet paths, it felt like happiness would stay by my side forever. It's a great place to enjoy the leisure of everyday life. It has a different atmosphere from Bow River.

My favourite park in the city tied with Prince's Island! It's very pretty and a great place to come for a picnic, BBQ, with a boat, or just to hangout near the Bow river. I run here and it's always nice to see people having fun and existing. Great place for kids too, as there's plenty of playground areas, and even a little train for them to ride!

Bowness Park is a delightful oasis in Calgary, offering a blend of natural beauty and recreational amenities. Lake O'Hara is a stunning destination surrounded by alpine forests and a network of well-maintained hiking trails. Securing a spot on the bus to access the area can be challenging, but it's definitely worth it. The region offers something for everyone, including Elizabeth Parker Hut, Lake O'Hara Lodge, and a campground nestled amidst beautiful lakes and valleys. For advanced hikers, there's the option to trek to Abbot Pass Refuge Hut National Historic Site.
Be prepared for another 4-5 km to do some hike while in there after 11km one way hike. It’s gorgeous. It takes 2-4 hours to reach the lake based on your fitness & speed. There is bus service from the parking lot to lake, but reservations are done via lottery process in March month. So if you want to go via bus try your luck for bus reservations. Other way is to hike 11 km(one-way) long way to the lake. There are Canada parks guides at the starting of hike, they’ll tell you some basic info about the trek. There is a campground just 500 meters behind the lake (although guide told us that its at 8.5 km point, but that’s not true. If you reach camp ground you’re almost at lake) If you want to see the famous view point, you need to hike 4-5km (round trip) more to get there. But this trek is really beautiful and you’ll get nice views. Please carry bear spray as well and walk along in groups as you might see bears also. We didn’t encounter any although. Here a map of the trails in the area. You can take a bus down without any reservation $15 if there is some space available. I recommend the Obapin Plateau and Prospect trails, it has the famous photo over the O’Hara and Mary lakes.
Vivek K — Google review
What a beautiful place! We víkend 28 km in total, from the park to the scenic viewpoint and back. In the first kilometer, we saw a black bear, which was not attacking us, only followed us for 50 m. And the lake was awesome! Beautiful color despite rainy weather. Definitely worth the hike, if you don't get a spot on the bus.
Lenka Š — Google review
Actually, this is an amazing place — almost deserted, where you can truly enjoy nature. Beautiful forests, plenty of streams, wonderful lakes with an incredible shade of water on a sunny day. Magnificent mountain ranges, as well as the chance to encounter small wild animals and various birds. Now, to the important part. Surely you know that you cannot get to this lake by private car, or by bicycle, motorcycle, or even an e-scooter — all of that is forbidden! You have two options: book a shuttle bus online (but it’s not something you can do spontaneously — you need to plan ahead and book it in early March, if I’m not mistaken), or go on foot. I chose the second option… I went on foot. I should mention right away that I have an injured right foot, after a fracture I got when I fell off a roof. So, the walk to the lake is about 11.6 km, along an emergency fire road or something like that — basically, you’re walking on pavement. Naturally, the road goes up and down with various turns, etc. At a slow pace, considering my foot injury, I made it there in 3 hours and 15 minutes. On the trees to the left and right you’ll see signs marking each kilometer passed — black numbers on white squares. Once you reach the lake, you’ll find trails going around the lake and up into the mountains to other lakes, for example Lake Oesa. And all the trails leading upward from the lake are simply breathtaking and scenic. As for the way back, it also took me around 3 hours, since the pain in my foot got worse. I should note that on the way back you’re going downhill most of the time, which puts more pressure on your toes. Overall, my trip lasted from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm. I was satisfied, but I doubt I’ll ever do it on foot again, because it’s too hard on my leg. Other people, I noticed, were walking much faster, and many were even running. Also keep in mind that parking is free, but spaces are limited. I recommend arriving during the summer season before 7:00 am. Personally, I arrived at 6:30 am, and there were already more than 50 cars in the lot. Make sure to bring waterproof raincoats just in case, along with water and some snacks.

Aug 29 2025 We’ve been trying for many years to get a ticket for the bus or a spot in the camp yesterday we decided that we were just up the road to Lake O’Hara .. It’s the best place to be when it’s early in the morning after 9:30am ..It becomes very busy with people…. And it gets very dangerous to walk the fire road with the buses going up and down the road during the daytime …
Melissa C — Google review
My fav lake around even for me better than lake louise or Morraine 😅 less crowded and the alpine hike is just amazing, you see around 5-6 different lakes around the way and the views are just amazing! Highly recommend! You can walk 11 km to the lake and then another 10-11 to do the alpine hike around or you can take a bus that drives you to the lodge at the lake and do the alpine hike from there! Anyways is worth it :)
Carlota A — Google review
walk ten kilometers one way to the lake, go around the entire lake and climb to the top another +5 km. incredible views, it's worth it.

We walked 11 km for 3.5 hours started at 8.30am, good to arrive early can hike along lake 1 hour n hike to see lake from above for 5 hours ( advise to do this first after resting ) , non ticketed try to catch bus with cad 15 cash ( 70 percent likely rejected n need to walk back downslope if rejected by the team for 2 hours wallk.Plain water to drink not free except at camping area ( need to walk a little upslope if from the lake, the water in the lake is not potable .
Muhfaziah M — Google review
One of the most spectacular lakes in the Rockies. It’s quiet, the limitations on visitors per day make it peaceful. Lake O’Hara is just one of the amazing spots in this range of mountains. The walk around takes about 40 minutes and is easy. Hiking up from the parking lot takes about 3 hours. I recommend trying to get a spot on the bus in the lottery, then you have the day to explore some of the routes that given views of the lake and the area.

Amazingly beautiful little town set in an impossibly beautiful & awe inspiring location. Amazing iconic wooden hotel perched on a hill overlooking town & beautiful lake, surrounded by magnificent mountain vistas. Lovely shopping and dning options & don't miss out on the lake cruise options to Montana at the other end of the lake. Wildlife abounding - even at the edge of town ! Bears and Deer abundant in the area - lovely drives/hikes nearby - Red Rock Canyon & especially Cameron Lake are stunning. The effect of the catastrophic wildfire in 2017 is still evident everywhere, but has generated beautiful and dramatic vistas and photo opportunities. A fantastic location - not to be missed. Note: superb in-town lakeside campsite for RVs - full facilities - water, waste dump, power, toilets & showers.

I drove through this park on my way from Calgary to Montana, not knowing anything about it. It’s so incredibly beautiful. It was a holiday when I was there so it was really busy. I wasn’t able to visit the town or the visitors center due to parking, but I was able to park at other places along the way to put my feet in the lake, go to the overlooks, etc. It’s a great park for a day trip or to stay and explore more activities. I will definitely return if I’m in the area again.

We spent three days at Waterton Lakes National Park and it was a delightful hidden gem. Our cozy cottage in Mountain View served as the perfect base for our daily park explorations. One highlight was a cruise on the lake to Goat Haunt, a part of Glacier National Park. We visited scenic spots like the Bison Paddock, Cameron Lake, and Red Rock Canyon. We also enjoyed kayaking on Cameron Lake; the rates were very reasonable. The charming town within the park offered quaint shops and cafes. Waterton Lakes National Park is truly a fantastic destination, especially on a sunny summer day. Don't miss out!

Stunning views, adorable town to stay at. Majestic mountains, beautiful valleys, and so many activities to do. The Prince of Whales hotel is a must see. Trappers is fabulous for breakfast. We had the best fried chicken at another local restaurant. Aspen Village was a nice place to stay at as well. Spacious with 2 queen beds.

Beautiful beyond words, great fishing. We enjoyed our trip to Waterton, beautiful lake, my husband did some fly fishing off the points & caught some fish. We walked up a short distance to the beautiful hotel with stunning views. Enjoyed a restaurant in town & plenty of shops. Went in July & there was plenty of parking, great & modern information centre as well.

Enjoyed a delicious meal at Zums. Enjoyed Cameron waterfall. Hiked up to upper and lower Bertha Falls, not an overly difficult walk but so worth the views. Drove out to Cameron Lake, which was stunning, wandered along the pathway beside the lake. On the drive up we saw waterfalls and the first oil well in western Canada. Took in a beautiful view of the Prince of Wales Hotel from Driftwood Beach. Love love Waterton.

This is a brilliant place to stay either as a destination or if you are going between the US parks and Canada parks. We were going from Banff to Glacier National Park in the US. This is actually the ideal place to stay the night if you are going to GlacierNP as you come in the St Mary’s entrance to Glacier, so do not need a pass for Going to the Sun Road. It would be an ideal place to stay going in either direction. The park itself is lovely, some amazing lakes and beautiful mountains. Its basically a Canadian extension to Glacier NP on the US side and the main lake crosses the border. You can hike for miles along the lake or just enjoy the village or maybe get a boat out on the lake. If you follow the hiking trail out of Waterton park, there are some astounding mountain peaks in vibrant colours such as Bertha Peak and Mount Carthew. If you are in the area, I would certainly recommend stopping here for a visit.

Edworthy Park is a serene natural oasis located along the Bow River in Calgary. It offers various amenities such as trails, fire pits, BBQ areas, playgrounds, and off-leash dog zones. The park is home to the famous Douglas Fir Trail, a 2.5 km path that winds through dense woods and showcases impressive Douglas-fir trees and diverse wildlife.
Is your dog wound up and in need of some exercise? Edworthy Park is the perfect spot to let em unwind! It’s my go-to off-leash dog walking destination in the city. The people are friendly, the dogs are happy, and the views are stunning. At times, it feels like you’re miles away from the city, especially on the east side of the park among the trees. You can park in the first lot as you enter and enjoy pathways that extend all the way to the third parking lot. If you prefer not to stick to pathways, the main area usually has plenty of dogs for yours to socialize with. The only drawback? There are no washrooms! So if nature calls, just remember: it’s not just your dog that might need to answer!

It's a huge park, but the area our GPS took us seemed like it took forever/ was convoluted. Lots of open space. We seemed to be at the off leash dog park, which was fine because we love dogs. But we didn't have our furry friend with us at the time. Lots of paths and such. No paved areas. There were several benches in one area to have a rest. Beautiful view of parts of the city, especially with fall colour's.

Very nice place to visit, relax, take a walk, hike, bike or go with a group have picnics, barbecues and have a superb time. The Bow river flows bordering the park, which is absolutely great to get our feet wet, have a nice dip in hot weather and such. 😊 Very family friendly, must visit atleast once. The place is accessible by transit, has goo connectivity to bike paths and is right next to major roads. Recommend it for sure! 😃

Edworthy Park is an enormous picnic place with plenty of open and covered picnic areas, tables, children play grounds, a lot of unending paved and unpaved trails, and huge parking areas on either side of the river that is accessible by an over bridge on foot or by bicycles. In order to park my car on the other side of the river, I had to take a long route; I followed the phone GPS. The popular picnic spot has hygienic, well- maintained washrooms and a cafeteria to cater to the needs of the visitors. A very energetic, exhilarating, and mesmerizing place for people of all ages and kinds.

Spend splendid time with kids here and we loved the place. However it’s a busy place on weekends and difficult to find car parking slots near the railway crossing area. Peculiarly of the park is there are hills, cycling paths, kids play areas, many trees so we will get enough shades , good for gathering party, one railway line where trains often run, many washrooms, and moreover we can get into the bow river.

I was really impressed with this park. I have lived in Calgary for about 25 years but never came to this park for some reason. It's right on the Bow River, has lots of picnic sites and there are fields to play sports in. I hiked the Douglas Fir Trail and it was wonderful. If you go to Edworthy Park, definitely consider trying this trail. Note: it is not an easy hike and not very safe for kids since some parts are fairly steep/slippery. P.S. - Bring bug spray for the warmer months.

Campground can be a little loud with trains every 90-120 minutes You can find nice family style hikes along near and away from the lake. I am here in late September and the trees are turning. The beach is probably full in warm summer months but this morning we are the only ones here.

What a beautiful hidden gem of a place! We had picked up some ice cream at Village Ice Cream, and while looking at Google Maps, we spotted this area. We are so happy that we decided to check this place out. There's a nice playground at this park, but that's not the drawing point. You can easily walk onto the Rocky Beach area next to the river. The river is very shallow, so there's no worry about being caught by any currents. People still launch their little rafts and float down the river. It's a great place to bring your family. There's plenty of grassy areas for bbqs and picnics. Kids can frolic in the water or skip some stones. What a wonderful little place in Calgary!

Bathroom is just the vault, no showers :( Beautiful lake great for kayaking, paddle boards, boats, inflatables, motor boats and fishing! We loved it!

3 Reservable campground loops, two of which are powered for RVs and trailers. Loop B has more of a view over the lakes. The pit toilets were particularly clean and didn't smell when we were there. Sani dump available. Boat launch and picnic day use area available as well, although not many trees around for shade. All in all not a bad spot especially if you are traveling through to or from Calgary

Very best Provincial Park. The Camp site is very well organised and beautiful Camping site. There is Community Kitchen with cooking facilities for four families at a time with drinking water and Six families tables for dining. There are many Washrooms with cleanliness. Volunteer and staff are very cooperative and helpful. Lake is just near the campground. So you can play swim and do boating. Very clean and healthier environment. Must visit at least once to experience the beauty of nature. Thanks for reading this review

Nice and quiet spot, water was calm. Plenty of spaces, free picnic tables or just benches around. One small drawback, no trees so no shades. Excellent service, informations from Visitors Centre.
Richard S — Google review
Nice sites not much for privacy though. Friendly neighbours but a little noisy the first couple night with partiers but quiet after that. When it got cold better have a heater because no flames are allowed. Even the propane firepit was banned. I wish Albertafirebans website reflected that would saved space in what I hauled out. Had to use my BBQ to warm up which coincidentally also had an open flame so not sure of the logic they are using to ban propane fire pits.

Best place for playing kite 🪁, quit windy! The playground is clean and with well maintained equipments. Kids love it so much! The lake water is not too cold but not really crystal clear. Not too far from Calgary, so recommend for 1 or 2 days camping, or day used.
Jacky N — Google review
Hidden gem one hour south of Calgary. Fishing was a bust, but the scenery was beautiful. We will definitely be back.
Anne M — Google review
My favourite land on earth; I spend time here year round & it's always worth the drive. Being in the water in the summer, or on the ice in the winter; it's a beautiful place to be. Can be busy; but the park still contains space for the many critters roaming it's surrounding hills. Moose, elk, weasels, eagles, ravens, bears and many other wonderful creatures call this area home. The fresh water in this area has been and is still being fought for; with passionate folk doing doing best to protect this pristine land and water from coal projects. If you're spending time at the lake, summer or winter, please be respectful. Loud music & litter is detrimental to all the delightful lives scattered in the woods; and other people.

Kinbrook Island Provincial Park is a hidden gem located on an island in Lake Newell, Alberta. The park offers a variety of activities such as swimming, boating, camping, and birdwatching. It boasts one of the best beaches in the province and provides well-maintained facilities including showers and flush toilets. Visitors can enjoy the serene surroundings and may even be treated to a stunning northern lights show at night.
Wonderful break from driving, beautiful marsh/prairie walk. Saw numerous birds and thousands of grasshoppers. So many different kinds! Good facilities and lots of parking.
Ron L — Google review
A first visit to this spectacular park..Oct 4-6 2024. Camped for two nights and spent the days walking trails and taking photos. My only minor complaint is the condition of the coin operated showers. They definitely need to be upgraded
Hpdz52 — Google review
A better Alberta Provincial Park. Many amenities to comfort most campers. Walk or bike the pathways around the marsh area, have a beach day, or go boating or fishing. There's lots to do. They have showers, many washrooms and pit toilets, and do a good job with maintenance.
Aaron — Google review
Beautiful campground, the sites are huge and all have 30 amp power. No water hookups though so make sure you fill your tank coming in. Awesome trails through the marshland areas.
Allan D — Google review
The perfect place for family weekend! Large landscaped area that included a trailer area, cottage road and one day parking. There is a big picnic area with tables and barbecues. There is a cafe that serves breakfast, lunch, ice cream and a small shop that has hygiene products, mosquito repellent, children toys and a lot of little things. On the territory of the island there is a playground, a volleyball court, a sandy beach and a boat pier. Here you can fishing. There are hiking Eco-paths and a fountain with drinking water. Gorgeous place!!!

Kinbrook is our families favourite provincial park.. we’ve stayed in loop G and F. Both sites had nice big trees for sun and wind protection. The beach is great but can be busy as it’s also public. So get there early, and grab your spot. The dump station is good, two sides, but can easily get backed up on a Sunday.
Sean M — Google review
First time here at the end of the summer and we were impressed, with what the campground had to offer. We had a site with the older well established grounds/trees so great shade and privacy. Lots of trails and paths to adventure on for families. Beautiful views around on the island and a few spots to go swimming. Water is quite warm too. Only thing to know, is that it can get tremendously windy at times so prepare for the right attire to wear. Outside of how windy it was, everything else was well enjoyed and clean grounds. And if you need anything, there's a Walmart/grocery stores in Brooks, which is about 15 mins drive away.
Nicole R — Google review
This is truly a great campground! We've been here a couple of times and it has been wonderful. It can get windy at times and cell coverage isn't great but overall it is great. The entire campground is irrigated so fire bans don't seem to be an issue. The beach is good, lots of sand and the water isn't too deep. There's also a couple good places to fish off the shore right in the park. Great place to bring the kids and have a really wonderful time!

Wedge Pond, located in southern Alberta, is a perfect weekend getaway just an hour and a half drive from Calgary. It offers opportunities for paddleboarding, fishing for arctic grayling, and hiking amidst the stunning Canadian Rockies. The pond provides scenic views surrounded by mountains and lush trees, making it an ideal spot for boating and kayaking. However, swimming is not recommended due to the presence of leeches and swimmers itch.
Great place for day use some of the sites have fire pits as well! During the fall season you can cherish the larches around the pond. A good place to do fall photoshoots also. Parking spots available. There is a septic tank restroom also available.
Rasgun — Google review
Wedge Pond is absolutely beautiful! It’s a perfect spot for picnics, photography and paddle boarding. The scenery is breathtaking, with stunning mountain views and a peaceful atmosphere. Highly recommend visiting if you’re looking to relax and enjoy nature.

Small but beautiful in the fall. Nice place for picnic with kids.
Anuj — Google review
A great scenic pond, perfect for boating, kayaking but not for swimming as there may be leeches and you may get swimmers itch. But the view is amazing surrounded by mountains. There are few hikes distance as shown in image. A lot of shaded and unshaded picnic benches with pond view. Ample washroom and parking space. You will need kananaskis pass to park there. Over all highly recommended. Check out videos and images and follow for more.

This pond is so beautiful! It's surrounded by luscious trees and big mountains. It's very easy to get to. It does have parking but it's limited if it's a busy time. From the parking lot it's a short walk done a small hill and you're there! It seems like you can walk around the whole pond which wouldn't take long. The scenery is fantastic and worth checking out!

Grassi Lakes Trail is a popular hiking path near Canmore, offering moderate to challenging options. The interpretive trail provides a more difficult route with steep sections, while the upper trail offers a steady incline and less impressive views. Hikers can choose between a more challenging climb with scenic reservoir and waterfall views or an easier but less scenic route. The trail is family-friendly, attracting many visitors with kids and dogs.
Beautiful view of lakes and mountains that you can see on the trail.
Allan N — Google review
Hiking trail is moderate . We had an amazing time hiking and an awesome view
Kinjal S — Google review
This is a great, easy hike with rewarding views of the mountains and a waterfall. It's a popular trail, so arrive early in the summer to avoid crowds. Recent bear sightings ( July 2025 ) so carry bear spray. Good choice for families and those with dogs!

A truly perfect hike—the lake was stunningly beautiful, as clear as amber, with colors interwoven under the sunlight, creating an absolutely breathtaking view.

Wow, so amazing, beautiful hike, and just a fantastic view when you get to the top.
David C — Google review
Its popular for a reason.... Short hike but good views at the top. Take the harder route and its still very easy, even for kids. Make sure you get a park pass as well or you might get a ticket. Grassi lakes are more pond then lake but beautiful still

44Lake Agnes Trail

Lake Agnes Trail is a relatively short and accessible route leading to the Lake Agnes Tea House, originally built as a refuge for hikers. The trail offers stunning views of Nokhu Crags and Lake Louise. It's well-marked and wide, accommodating many people. The incline is constant but manageable with breaks, passing by Mirror Lake and the beautiful Lake Agnes. While challenging, the breathtaking view at the top makes it worth the effort.
Worth the hike! Trail starts just past Lake Louis and has multiple spots for breathtaking pictures!
Adnan A — Google review
The hike from Lake Agnes to the Plain of Six Glaciers Loop was absolutely breathtaking! We covered approximately 8.4 miles in total, and it took us about 4 hours to complete—including time for photos, a bathroom break, and a stop at the Tea House for tea and scones (which I highly recommend!). This is a moderately challenging hike with a fair amount of elevation gain, but the sweeping alpine views, turquoise lakes, and glacier vistas make every step worthwhile. 💡 Trail Tips: • Wear proper footwear (hiking boots or shoes are strongly recommended). • Bring plenty of water and layer appropriately—weather conditions can shift quickly at higher altitudes. • If there’s a chance of rain, pack a windbreaker or rain jacket—there’s minimal tree coverage in some sections of the trail. • Consider bringing hiking poles—they’ll definitely come in handy, especially on steeper or rocky stretches. • Bring cash if you plan to purchase anything at the Tea House. • Be prepared for a wait in line at peak hours. • Don’t forget your camera—the views are incredible! ⚠️ Important Note: Public parking at Lake Louise is no longer available for most visitors. You’ll need to purchase shuttle passes in advance through Parks Canada if you plan to hike this trail during the summer months. Spots fill up quickly, so book early!
Payton M — Google review
Accidentally chosen Agnes trail was worth my time. It was a cloudy January day and I highly recommend using ice spikes and hike sticks. I missed them on my way back.
Максим Т — Google review
It is a good one hour hike to Agnes lake. It is a moderate hike and I recommend wearing proper hiking shoes and make sure to stay hydrated. The view is stunning and all in all, it is a great experience
Sepideh S — Google review
Highly recommended trail for anyone able to move and in the area. We are not the best of hikers, but finished this trail (shows 6.5 miles on our movement trackers) in just under 5 hours. Definitely recommend starting your day early - park at the Lake Louise parking lot just before sunrise, catch a brilliant sunrise on Lake Louise, start the trail, catch the morning light at Mirror Lake / Big Beehive, then carry on to Lake Agnes and the popular tea house. Have tea if you like - it’s nothing to write home about, then carry on in reverse. We took half the time to come down as we did to go up (3 hours up / 1.5 hours down)
Kundan S — Google review
The temperatures at the bottom and top of the trail were very different. It started hailing when we got to Lake Agnes and it was sunny when we came back down.
Cecile X — Google review
Moderate hike if you are in shape...recommend hiking sticks, only a few had Bear Spray...long lines at the Tea House, takes about 4-5 hours.
Daniel L — Google review
I did this little hike last week and it was great. The views on the top of the mountain were way better than the bottom lake where is so crowded all the time.
