Beaches
Lido di Lugano is a vibrant open-air pool complex and beach area that attracts both locals and tourists. It offers a sandy beach along Lake Ceresio, an Olympic-sized swimming pool, a kids' pool with water games, diving pools with high trampolines, beach volleyball court, and a five-a-side football pitch. Additionally, it hosts various leisure activities including open-air cinema in the summer.
The beach is my favorite place to rest in Lugano. It is very close to Parco Ciani. The property is huge and has two entrances. The ticket is CHF 11, payable cash or by credit card. There is a big swimming pool, grass section, beach section with sand and a few food options. If visiting during the weekend be sure to come early morning because it easily gets crowded. No need to rent a sunbed and umbrella - the trees offer shades. There are changing rooms and toilets. The beach has a great view towards the lake and the hills. You can sit and admire the beauty for hours.

This is a great spot to spend a hot summer day! The area is spacious and well-organized, with grassy lawns for relaxing, a pool for the little ones, a pool with diving boards, a mid-depth pool, and a deep pool for serious swimmers. There’s also access to a lovely beach area with soft sand and the chance to swim directly in the lake, which is a real highlight. The only downside is that in the deep pool, people don’t wear swim caps, so there tends to be a lot of hair floating around, sometimes so much that you could get tangled in it. But aside from that, everything else is fantastic. It’s a fun and relaxing place for people of all ages!
Oleksandra B — Google review
Lido di Lugano is an amazing place to spend the day, especially if you have kids. With a variety of pools, including an Olympic-sized one and a children's pool, there's something for everyone. We loved the large grassy areas for relaxing, and the sandy beach is a huge bonus. It's a fantastic spot with great amenities, perfect for a fun-filled family day out.

The BEST Lido in the Lugano area: -- excellent restaurant -- 4 pools -- Lake swimming -- wonderful staff -- old style Lido look and decor
Frank M — Google review
Great place to visit. Kids enjoyed it. Several diving boards, 1m, 3m, 5m and 10m in height. Small swimming pool for kids, and Olympic sized pool. Beach area on the lake. Note, sun loungers and parasols come at an extra cost and deposit. Drinks cups also require a deposit.

Park
Parco Ciani is a sprawling and exquisite park located in Lugano, offering stunning views of Lake Lugano. It is known for its manicured lawns, charming pathways, and lush greenery. Visitors can enjoy leisurely strolls through the park, taking in the picturesque surroundings and finding peaceful spots to relax. The park features colorful flower beds, statues, fountains, and historic landmarks such as Villa Ciani.
Beautiful park with lovely nature. It’s completely free and you can take amazing photos. It’s got some sweet colorful flowers and lots of trees. There is a small portion where you could take a little swim in the lake, perfect for a warm day of summer
Emanuela F — Google review
Parco Ciani is a delight to visit anytime of the year but particularly during the blossoming summer and spring months with all the colorful flowers and clear refreshing lugano lake that looks like a scene out of a fairy tale dream. The place is family friendly, yet very romantic and has all the amenities visitors might need from free public toilets which are clean and usable, to gelato and coffee sellers during good weather ... its a place to relax and unwind at the very heart of the beautiful city of lugano overlooking its majestic lake.
Amr A — Google review
So beautiful and colourful! You can spencer the whole day there! Mountains, łąkę, flowers, palm trees in the park. Places where you can sit and just admire what is around you! At the beginning of July the water in the łąkę was very warm🙂
Marta C — Google review
I really enjoyed visiting the park, it was a wonderful experience. The atmosphere was calm and welcoming, making it the perfect place to relax. I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful spot to spend some time.
Alina N — Google review
Lovely park, magnificent scenery right on the beautiful lake with plenty of flowers. Don’t miss while in Lugano.
Amit O — Google review
Absolutely beautiful park with views towards Lugano lake. You can rest on a bench and admire the nature. The park is well maintained with flowers and green grass. Ducks are wandering. No entrance fee. Close to the park entrance is a gate where lots of people stop and take pictures. Beware of homeless people - we had interaction with one asking for money but he was not dangerous.
Яна Т — Google review
Nice park with a beautiful view. We visited during a city festival, so there were a lot of little events happening at the same time across the whole park and the rest of the city. Really cool experience overall.

Piazza della Riforma is a vibrant square located in the heart of Lugano, Switzerland. The area is known for its lively atmosphere and diverse culinary offerings, with salt-cured sausage, cold-cut ham, and gelato shops showcasing an array of tempting flavors. The lakeside promenade nearby boasts luxury condominiums, avant-garde architecture, and a striking fountain. Visitors can also enjoy live music performances and dancing at the square in the evenings.
Heart of Lugano shopping and eatery. Great view of the lake.

Historical landmark. Situated in the center of the city, you cannot miss it.

Piazza Riforma is such a nice place to wander here and there. A lot of tourists came to visit. You have lot of things to do, eat quality food, spend time with friends.

The Reform square is the very center of old town Lugano. It's just across the lake promenade, traffic free pedestrian area. Several bars and restaurants along with a nice Town Hall
Dejan B — Google review
I spent a lot of time in Piazza della Riforma it’s the heart of Lugano. Surrounded by cafés, historic buildings, and a lively atmosphere, it felt like the perfect place to sit, people-watch, and soak in the city’s rhythm.
Can M — Google review
Quaint little piazza. I went during their summer music festivals. Awesome little community coming together to celebrate and have fun.
Jack T — Google review
The place is realy great, food is ok, but service is really bad. Serviced by the biggest guy who didn't pay attention cause we don't speak Italiian. Lack of interest. Ordered la Pinza with extras and asked for well backed. Got it almost cold. The whole service is very rude if you dont speak Italian. Expensive and rude. This is the 4th time it happends and the last. It's not worth it. Look around, there is much more.

LAC Lugano Arte e Cultura is a contemporary art and culture museum housed in a modern building with stunning panoramic views of the lake. The museum features a permanent exhibition showcasing collections from the City of Lugano and Cantone Ticino, as well as temporary exhibitions and site-specific installations. Additionally, it boasts a 1,000-seat concert and theatre hall that hosts music, theatre, and dance performances.
A small but thoughtful collection with well-curated special exhibitions. Also had yummy lunch at the Luini 6 Bistro before the museum tour. 👍👍
Eric-Richard L — Google review
A wonderful place of culture. The building has enormous space inside, it is far bigger than the outside reveals. Good restaurant and nice little shop. The building also serves as a concert hall.
Daniel P — Google review
Great event venue, suitable for a whole range of different event types, from cultural and artistic to business gatherings.

lovely museum, very big space. almost wish there was more to look at.
Sam — Google review
Beautiful modern building right on the lake in downtown Lugano. Beautiful vistas from every window… not to mention the great exhibits. Spent a lovely morning there and then you can have coffee in the courtyard cafe!
Caroline G — Google review
This art center never disappoints. The natural lighting and high-ceiling spaciousnesses encourages an inner calm and bolsters the ability to reflect. It is the opposite of most places in an urban environment, so you are invited to slow down. The events and artists are absolutely top quality and the acoustics for musical performances is good. I will get a season pass for 2023 for sure. It’s just such a good place to spend time.
Emily L — Google review
The exposition on Ernst Scheidegger resonated deeply with me and I greatly enjoyed it. (Streams of Spleen on the other hand, not so much). The staff was lovely, there is storage for coats and other personal items, and entry is free with the Swiss Pass.

The Cathedral of Saint Lawrence, also known as Cattedrale di San Lorenzo, is a captivating Roman Catholic cathedral located in Lugano. This historical landmark dates back to the 9th century and showcases a remarkable fusion of Romanesque and Gothic architectural styles. Visitors are drawn to its imposing facade and beautiful bell tower that can be seen from various vantage points across the city. Inside, the cathedral boasts intricate mosaic tiles, exquisite frescoes, and an impressive altar.
Question: Why people like this city too much? One reason could be this church tower. It makes unbelievable breathtaking views. With every type of weather, this picture and this place make people relax all the time. When you go out from train in Lugano train station, you will face this nature and landscape. I always invite people to this beautiful city. Also name of the city is so cool. Lugano 😁 , actually it was name of a soccer player in Fenerbahce 20 years ago…
Mumin S — Google review
Why do so many people love this city? Good Question One standout reason is the stunning church tower, which offers breathtaking views that captivate visitors regardless of the weather. This picturesque setting provides a sense of tranquility and relaxation, making it a perfect escape. Upon arriving at the Lugano train station, you’re immediately greeted by the stunning natural beauty and landscapes that define the area. I always encourage friends and family to visit this charming city. Plus, the name "Lugano" itself has a nice ring to it—fun fact: it was also the name of a soccer player from Fenerbahçe two decades ago! Additionally, the beautiful architecture surrounding the station, both inside and out, adds to the city's appeal, making Lugano a must-visit destination.
Csaba B — Google review
As soon as we got off the train, we were welcomed by a stunning view of the Cathedral of Saint Lawrence. The inside was peaceful and quiet, filled with a sense of serenity. People were very respectful and the whole atmosphere added to the beauty of Lugano, simply heavenly.
Ümmügülsüm K — Google review
The place was both vibrant and well-maintained, with gleaming surfaces throughout. Additionally, a balcony overlooked the area, providing an excellent view of the cathedral, which could be seen from any part of the town. In my opinion, it was one of the finest churches I have ever had the opportunity to visit.
Bledi I — Google review
The church is very beautiful and it stands out. I think it’s such a great building and suits this place very well. Unfortunately I forgot to go inside this time, so I must come and visit again

Hotel Lido Seegarten is a family-run 4-star hotel situated on the shores of Lake Lugano, offering elegant restaurants, free WiFi, and a south-facing outdoor pool with direct lake access. The hotel features Mediterranean cuisine at the Rialto restaurant and La Terrazza, as well as rustic-style dining at La Fornace.
Great hotel in a good old style . Beautiful decorative touches , friendly staff , pool with great views , place to jump into the lake from . Good food , great location walking 10 minutes to the centre , some good attractions in the area . We were here as a family with our children and will be back .
Bartosz B — Google review
One of the only hotels in Lugano which is directly on the lake. You pay a premium for that. The rooms are modern/recently refurbished and we booked a lake view so naturally that looked as good as it does in the pictures. Very good breakfast. Pool is nice, not too large but as you can imagine it's also very busy with the other guests. There is also direct access to the lake for swimming from the pool area which is nice. I saw they had equipment for SUP but didn't try that. Parking is a 5-10 min walk and the staff are lovely to help direct and inform about the parking options (30 euros per day). The only downside is no complementary water in the room. For the amount you pay, you would have expected there to be some but only bottled water from the minibar.
Danh N — Google review
We loved our stay at Hotel Lido Seegarten. The rooms were beautiful, the pool was lovely, and the lake views were perfect. We especially enjoyed dinner at the restaurant and the generous breakfast spread. The location was excellent. Convenient to public transport, Monte Brè, and just a short trip to the city center.
Shannon D — Google review
Expensive, and rooms lack the wow factor but the lake view speaks for itself. Very nice pool area with loungers and an abundance of water equipment to use free of charge (stand up paddle boards, canoes etc.). Was a shame breakfast doors were closed at 10am precisely despite the terrace area still being quite full with guests enjoying a more leisurely start to the day. Menus were taken away and and tables cleared which made you feel rushed.
T M — Google review
The location is great, a 15 minute walk from the city center (or a couple of bus stops), right on the lake. They have a nice pool and access to the lake as well. My room was nice and had everything needed.

Hello everyone We go with the family type kinda vacation, things was convenient for this hotel that they give you free ticket for bus and museum, the rooms wasn’t in a perfect condition seems old and our bathroom had broken part another room that we took with view looks better but the Vinson shade was broken, they don’t have free parking included what they offer is just 5 space behind the hotel if not you need to find the parking 5 minutes far from hotel. The breakfast service was nice, almost a worker respectful. The view of the hotel was beautiful.

Lido San Domenico is the perfect spot for a relaxing swim in Lugano. With stunning views of the lake and shore, this swimming area is a must-see for anyone visiting the city. There's also a bar and changing facilities available, making it an ideal place to spend an afternoon or evening.
A small jewel tucked between the lake and the mountain. No beach but a small swimming area where you can swim and cool off. They have a grass area with lounge chairs to relax and a small bar that offers a small selection of food. Not much parking available and it‘s a beautiful 7 min walk from the parking along a small walkway.
Vance C — Google review
Lovely staff members and the food was surprisingly tasty although being fast food. I didn’t like that the entrance was so much for so little you get. Also, they charged the same price for kids as they did the adults. No towels given, so make sure you bring your own. (Could have been in the price, couldn’t it?) The swimming area is also limited but cute with a deck you can swim to. There was a flood in the bathroom which shocked me, but they took care of it pretty fast. Well done.
Felyn Z — Google review
A great place to chill, enjoy the sun and swim. A very relaxed atmosphere, a nice bar with food and drinks waits for you. It is on the lake has a nice terasse to swim. Kids and families are welcomed.

Roman K — Google review
The good place to chill, to have drinks and to try pizza. Music, staff - everything we liked. Only one small obstacle- not easy to find a parking for the car.
Darius R — Google review
Very laid-back, clean and peaceful Lido. The entrance ist 6 CHF and you can use deck chairs for free (sun beds are 5 CHF/day). They have a great variety of food and beverages (snacks, ice cream, beer, lemonade) and very friendly staff. Changing facilities, showers and toilets available. The view from the lake is stunning and the water is very good. There's a bath supervisor on the premise. You can easily spend a whole day at this place. WiFi ist very good, too.
Nora Z — Google review
Found this place when searching for a lido in Lugano that was more secluded and less family orientated and was not disappointed. Has a bar with sandwiches/light meal options- including a veggie/vegan option!- and ice creams, small seating area for this, changing rooms and showers, soft seating like hammocks and a lawn with chairs and umbrellas. As the lido is on a steep side, you can either jump in off the board or use the ladder but there is no shore and you have to commit to getting in! There was also a raft to swim out to. Really enjoyed our visit here. They take cash or card also
RosiWW — Google review
It’s a cozy place, perfect to enjoy hipster vibes. There is plenty of international customers which makes it a rather chill and sociable bar where to hang out. There’s the possibility to swim and get tanned in the sun, play board games, read comics. I could have stayed there the whole afternoon. People from the staff are social. 👍 Payment with credit card are not allowed (September 2018).

Chiesa di Santa Maria degli Angioli is a small Catholic church with a bell tower and frescoes in the nave. Its construction began in 1499, and it features a more modest facade compared to Lugano Cathedral. However, it is home to some of Switzerland's most renowned Renaissance artwork, including 'Passion and Crucifixion' by Bernardo Luini, a disciple of Leonardo da Vinci.
A beautiful church with very old (medieval) frescoes. A must visit while in Lugano. Can be visited daily but not during the masses or concerts. Masses are at 5.30pm on Saturday and 10:30am and 5pm on Sundays. Before the mass on Saturday at 5pm and mass on Sunday at 4:30pm there's an organ concert of classical music for free. The church is open every day from 8:30am till 6pm. There's a lot written in the church to explain the frescoes or one can book a guided tour.
Agnes W — Google review
I visited Chiesa di Santa Maria degli Angioli mainly for the famous fresco and it truly lived up to the hype. The artwork by Bernardino Luini took my breath away. From the outside it looks simple, but inside, it’s unforgettable.

Beautiful church. You'll be surprised when you hear the story about the paintings inside
Alberto M — Google review
If you enjoy art, do not miss the most significant Renaissance fresco in Switzerland within the Santa Maria degli Angioli church (cornerstone laid in 1499). Painted by a local artist Bernardino Luini (b1480) in 1529, just three years before he died. The church contains a description (in Italian) outlining the meaning of the different figures in this wall size fresco. This church was founded by Reformed Followers of St. Francis beginning with Brother Silvesti in 1439 during a tumultuous time for the region. Problems included the ongoing fight between the Guelphs & Ghibellines (Pope Supporters vs Roman Emperor supporters), the territorial disputes between aristocrats and the onset of the plaque. The church is not encrusted with gold but rather embodies a calmness one usually associates with the divine. For that and providing written historical context to educate the visitor, I gave it 5 starts
Nancylee S — Google review
Absolutely stunning views and the most quaint little church. Would recommend the visit and a visit inside the church. We were very privileged to see how Italian people live in this stunning place.
AuraQuartz H — Google review
Home to the most famous Renaissance fresco in Switzerland painted by Bernardino Luini; who studied under Leonardo da Vinci. The church itself was built in 1499-1500.

I had a wonderful stay, thanks to the kind and always smiling hotel staff who made the experience so pleasant. The hotel was spotless and spacious, adding to the comfort. A special thank you to Antonella for her outstanding support—your warmth and professionalism truly made a difference!

We had a fantastic stay at Hotel de la Paix in Lugano. I requested a quiet room at the end of a corridor and on a high floor due to a brain injury that makes me sensitive to noise. The staff took my request seriously and ensured everything was just right—our room was peaceful, comfortable, and ideal for a restful stay. The location is perfect, with easy access to both the train and bus networks, making it simple to get around Lugano and the surrounding area. We booked bed and breakfast, and the whole experience was exemplary. The breakfast was fresh and varied, the staff were welcoming and professional, and every detail was taken care of. Highly recommended for anyone looking for comfort, convenience, and outstanding service in Lugano.

We had a very pleasant stay. Great location - few blocks to Paradiso, ferry and beaches; also store and restaurants are around. Free outside parking, inside parking is 20Chf/day (which is also a good price for this location). Free electric car charger. Nice size swimming pool. Decent breakfast (wish they don’t charge extra for omelettes). Rooms & hotel itself is a bit old and you can see some signs of needed renovations but hotel is a historic building with its own charm. Good value for this price overall.

Awesome. Everything perfect. Super good price, great location close to the lake, large room with a free mini bar that gets refilled daily, even a swimming pool. Will definitely come back!

Hotel is well cared for older hotel. Very busy area of town. The room are good size. Clean. The restaurant is confusing. Main restaurant is only open for breakfast. Bar is on the side of main restaurant. Expensive drinks with live music. But there is another restaurant on the opposite side.

What a great discovery: couldn't have picked a better hotel... perfect mix of tastful and elegant yet not too posh (very spacious classy rooms incl balconies with a view; nice hotel bar), great location and facilities (decent pool and on-site parking). Antonella (Guest Relations) makes you feel like a VIP from the second you arrive (in fact, even before - having proactively checked in re when we arrive, what we need, etc). All other staff has been friendly, too. Can't recommend enough - will be our go-to hotel in Lugano!

The Continental Parkhotel Lugano is a family-run establishment situated just 200 meters south of Lugano's main railway station. Guests can enjoy the convenience of regular funicular services to the city center. The hotel boasts a refreshing outdoor pool set within a spacious park, providing an ideal retreat after a day of exploring Lugano. Accommodation options include air-conditioned and soundproofed rooms, with comfort and superior room categories available in different buildings on the property.
A total 5 star experience BUT NOTE this gorgeous hotel with amazing views sits directly above a small but busy train station with both commuter and cargo trains alllll day and night. With that said it did NOT detract from our stay (maybe just a little from napping with the doors open... ). With the doors closed it was very quiet and trains were not an issue (an inner garden room might not be affected by trains). We had room 70 and it was such a glorious view. The room was spacious and clean. The restaurant was AMAZING! The waitstaff were so friendly and helpful. Service was exceptional. Breakfast was outstanding. Also note as the hotel sits above town, you could do a steep multi stair down and up but recommend the funicular which is right in the train station below. As a little crowded and hectic as town can be this hotel is a beautiful and peaceful oasis. The grounds are gorgeous and the whole experience was wonderful. This part of the trip was my favorite because of the Continental Parkhotel experience!
Janis — Google review
The location of the hotel is great, being just a few minutes walk from the station. The entrance next to the railway tracks is the main entrance to the hotel, and the main door of the hotel is up the flight of stairs. It was a bit unassuming at first and I had thought I arrived at the back entrance. The hotel's theme and decor is very grand and classy, fitting for its long history. The buffet breakfast is great with lots of hot food (so much meat!), and the staff makes you a cup of coffee to start with. The bar in the hotel is also a great option, with happy hour between 17:00-18:00 during which drinks are almost half priced. In addition I was served some free snacks to go with my beer so I was happy to order a few more. A great place to relax after a tiring day out. The rooms are comfy but a bit bare. For one there is no kettle in the room, which I had thought was almost a standard item in any hotel room by now. There is shower gel provided but they come in these weird, flat, single use packets. Lastly there are no blackout blinds, only a translucent lace layer. Leaving the issue of sunlight interrupting your sleep aside, it seems to provide not much privacy especially as there are other occupied buildings in sight. There is a balcony with a chair attached to my room, I imagine if you are a smoker you can sit outside and enjoy the fresh air while you relax. There are modern air conditioners in the room which are also capable of heating as well as cooling.

I was here for business and stayed for two nights and I got to say: the surrounding, the greenery and the ambiente is amazing. Especially in summer times. The pool seems amazing. It is less than 3 minutes from the Lugano main station. The service at breakfast, reception and the bar is impeccable. Totally worth a stay and would come again, if I am in Lugano. The only downside I had was the proximity to the main station, as I was able to hear the train in the night, even with the windows closed.
Orven W — Google review
Located conveniently across the street from the train station, for easy access to the lakeside stores and cafes, and the Lugano shopping area. The hotel is charming with well appointed modern rooms, while reserving the old world charm of decades before. Water pressure in the showers was excellent which we much appreciated! The grounds are very beautiful and well maintained. There is a beautiful bar and resident on site which I wish we had time to visit!

I'm a wedding photographer and had a wedding in Italy and had an unforgettable stay at this beautiful hotel in Lugano. The highlight for me was the stunning garden filled with graceful palm trees—a serene oasis perfect for relaxing at any time of day. The breakfast buffet was exceptional, offering a wide variety of fresh and delicious options that made every morning a pleasure. The staff were warm and attentive, making me feel welcome from the moment I arrived. I can wholeheartedly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Lugano. jenslindnerfotografie

Had a ground floor room on the outdoor pavilion. With the windows closed, you can hear the trains all day and night, as well as your neighbors from the adjacent rooms moving their furniture (why at 6:00 AM???) and tending to their crying babies. The room itself was simple and dated, relatively clean. To lock the door you had to jimmy the handle. I have to say it didn't feel very secure. Another thing is that to get to the city you have to go through the train station, which at night might not be very plesent. The receptionists were very nice and helpfull.

We have stayed at the Continental Park Hotel twice—once in June 2022 and again in August 2025—and truly enjoyed both visits to this traditional, family-owned hotel. While we often stay at hotel chains and have nothing against them, the Continental Park Hotel has a unique spirit and warmth that reflects the care and dedication of the owning family. The hotel does offer luxury rooms, but most accommodations are simple, spotlessly clean, well-maintained, and thoughtfully designed. In 2025, we chose a lake-view room, which offered a stunning panorama. The only drawback was some noise from the nearby train, but this can be easily managed with earplugs. Both lake-view and park-view rooms have their own advantages and trade-offs. Although we are not big breakfast eaters, we found the breakfast here to be excellent—clearly prepared with care and effort—and it comes with the added pleasure of a breathtaking lake view from the breakfast room. We are already looking forward to our next stay at this lovely hotel—hopefully in the not-too-distant future.

We enjoyed two nights here and thoroughly enjoyed the rooms, the service, the happy hour and the exceptional help by the reception staff especially Roberta who went above and beyond to recommend things to do and see in Lugano. We gave a lesser score for the location as this hotel is very close to a busy noisy train station which is also undergoing night works.

Lido Riva Caccia is a popular spot located just a short walk from the city center, featuring floating platforms in the Gulf of Lugano. It attracts both tourists and locals who appreciate its fresh food, quick service, and relaxing atmosphere. While there's a new booking system for all lidos in Lugano, visitors can still enjoy swimming and sunbathing without needing a reservation at this lido.
Great spot to swim directly in Lake Lugano. Get reserved chairs and access to a full bar. Nice raft out in the water. Change areas and showers are included. Volleyball court in water is available (but it has a slippery floor in that submerged area). Overall much smaller but also less crowded than Lido de Lugano which is a 20 mins walk away.

Beutifull place by the lake. Sometimes there may be some confusion about the beds but usually people work it out among themselves. There are showers and changing rooms, but no toilets (at least none that I saw..). Just note that they don't supply towels and you have to bring your own.

My experience in Lugano Lake was absolutely amazing! The weather was perfect, adding to the beauty of the breathtaking views. The ferry trip across the lake was a highlight, providing a unique and enjoyable way to explore the surroundings. The staff was friendly and accommodating, making the experience even more delightful. I highly recommend taking a ferry trip in Lugano Lake for an unforgettable experience.

5⭐️ A Hidden Gem in Lugano! Lido Riva Caccia was an incredible find! We arrived just as the sun came out and enjoyed a refreshing swim and a quick dip in the beautiful Lake Lugano. The entry fee was very reasonable — only CHF 4 (€4.40) per person — and totally worth it for such a peaceful, scenic experience. Swimming is allowed as long as it’s not raining, and while drinks aren’t included, we treated ourselves to some beer and Aperol Spritz while soaking in the lakeside views. We were lucky to have a sunny window and practically had the place to ourselves — it felt like a private paradise! This spot is a must-visit in Lugano, and we’d absolutely come back again. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a calm, clean, and charming lakeside escape. 🌞🏊‍♂️🍹

Very cool location to spend a sunny day sunbathing and bathing in the lake. It’s like 15CHF for a sun bed with umbrella, supervised swimming, jumping tower, plateau in the middle of the lake and a in water volleyball field. You also get decent lunch, drinks, ice cream - but that’s pricy - prime location prices ;) Bring your own towel, water and you’ll be fine.

The swimming experience and staff was 5 stars, but the restaurant experience was 1 star, shockingly disappointing service, the croissants were from the day before (maybe even two…) clearly not fresh at all, and criminally overpriced.

Hotel Walter Au Lac is a charming and relaxed hotel located on the promenade near the pedestrianized center of Lugano. The unassuming rooms and suites offer stunning views of Lake Lugano, with some featuring balconies. The hotel's terrace includes a hot tub, perfect for unwinding while enjoying the beautiful scenery. Additionally, guests can easily access shopping, restaurants, and a scenic lake walk nearby. The hotel provides comfortable accommodations with clean rooms and comfortable beds.
We stayed at the Hotel Walter for one night but it was well worth it. The view of Lake Lugano from our room balcony was breathtaking as you're situated right on the waterfront. The room was well appointed and they had best pillows we'd come across after staying in several 4-5 star hotels across Switzerland. We enjoyed the breakfast and the staff kept the buffet fully stocked.

Incredible place to stay in Lugano. The hotel is right on the water with a gorgeous view. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Safe hotel. Great breakfast in the morning! It's delicious, and you're able to look over the water as you eat. Cute rooftop area for lounging. Would highly recommend.

First night we stayed there The bath tub is so small you couldn’t put 2 foot together. It was dangerous and slippery. The second night we asked for a room with a shower. The water kept on changing from hot to cold every second. When we complain to the management she told us it’s an old building and it’s nothing they can do about it. Well, they charging so much for those rooms. Surely they can spend some money for improvement and renewing the piping and keeping it up-to-date. The manager didn’t want to even budge and she was very rude. She clearly has no knowledge in customer service satisfaction. The only good thing about this place is the location and the view.

"I recently stayed at Walter Au Lac and had a disappointing experience. Our room was infested with bugs, and the air conditioning wasn't working. When we brought this to the hotel's attention via email , we didn't get a satisfactory response. The hotel's response to our complaints was dismissive, blaming it on 'windows and doors letting bugs in.' There was a huge spider I personally encountered in the shower which was nowhere near a window or door. However, one staff member did try to make things right, working with us until 2 am to resolve the issue. They even admitted that the room hadn't been adequately cleaned. Despite this effort, the hotel's overall performance fell short of expectations especially for the amount of money we paid for our stay (600 Swiss francs). I hope the hotel takes steps to improve their cleanliness and responsiveness to guest concerns and not just make excuses." They also control the A/C thermostat and we were not able to use it. In their email they states the season was cool outside and a/c was not needed, that we could open windows and door (and let more bugs in). Hôtel is a joke.

This is a great hotel right on the waterfront in Lugano. It’s worth getting a room with a balcony if you can - all rooms face the water but sitting out on the balcony with a drink at the end of the day is special. A really good breakfast included. The rooms are not large but very serviceable and all amenities are available. A great restaurant on the ground floor and the piazza just 2 mins walk. A wonderful place to stay.

Horrible Experience at a Beautiful Hotel - Would Not Recommend I recently stayed at what was supposed to be the "best room in the hotel," and unfortunately, my experience was nothing short of a nightmare. I was expecting a luxurious stay in a beautiful location, but instead, I encountered deplorable conditions that ruined my entire trip. Upon entering the room, I was immediately greeted with a horrifying sight: bugs everywhere. The walls, ceiling, and even the bed were infested with insects, and to top it off, there was a huge spider in the shower. It was not only unpleasant, but it also felt unsafe. To make matters worse, the air conditioning was not working, which made the already uncomfortable environment even worse. Ernesto, the only employee working that night, tried his best to resolve the situation. He spent hours in the room attempting to control the bug problem and even admitted that the room had not been properly cleaned and that the conditions were unacceptable. He assured us that the hotel would compensate us for this horrible experience. However, this was where the hotel's customer service failed us further. Despite the severity of the issue, when we contacted the hotel about the bugs and sent pictures, their response was dismissive. They claimed that because we were on a certain floor, bugs might have been able to enter the room, and they focused entirely on asking for medical receipts for the bedbug bites we received during our stay. The fact that we paid Fr.600 for one night and had to endure such a traumatic experience is simply unacceptable. Ernesto was in our room until almost 2 AM trying to fix the situation, but we needed to leave for the airport at 6 AM. We didn't get any rest, which made the entire ordeal even more frustrating. It's a shame because the hotel has so much potential-gorgeous location, beautiful views-but the lack of proper maintenance and the failure of the hotel staff to assist guests when needed ruined what could have been a wonderful stay. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone unless they make significant improvements to their cleanliness, customer service, and maintenance. It was an overall horrible experience, and I truly hope the hotel takes this feedback seriously.

The on-site restaurant serves fantastic meals while the bar offers local drinks for relaxation. So happy we booked this place! The restaurant was really good, with good wine from the backyard and not too expensive, and we got good recommendations! The room was super quiet, had a good view, good beds and felt luxurious. I was worried it would be too far away from the city, but there is buses every hour and we had a beautiful walk from the train station. So it’s worth it especially since you get a bit more sun during the evening living higher up! An extra plus with the pool! Would recommend this to couples more than families, since the feeling is more romantic and beautiful than maybe practical for kids. Even if I can’t come up with specific reasons why, the staff was super friendly to the only kid that was there, I guess it’s more based on the luxury feeling the hotel has. The breakfast was not so traditional, but amazing! So don’t expect scrambled eggs, but a lot of high quality small dishes, and home made sweets. The only question we have is why it’s only has 3-stars? This was nicer the all the 4-stars hotels I been to!

If you are looking for a tranquil environment, clean room, beautiful scenery, delicious food, and a stunning pool, you must visit Bigatt Hotel. We have an excellent experience and will be returning! The breakfast buffet includes bread, pastries, eggs, cheeses, meats, fruit, cereals, yogurt, and fresh coffee. It kept us full for our entire hike up the mountain behind the hotel. Dinner was also delicious! Things to note- make sure you check the bus schedule ahead of time if you are coming via public transit. Some days the 434 bus only comes once an hour. They do have pool towels for use during the stay. There was not conditioner provided in the rooms (which was fine for me but just a heads up!).

Asia Market is a delightful treasure trove for anyone craving authentic Asian flavors and ingredients. Upon returning to Europe after living in Asia, many visitors are pleasantly surprised by the extensive selection available here. The market boasts an impressive array of sauces, rice varieties, alcohol, snacks, and spices alongside fresh vegetables that add vibrancy to any dish.
I was visiting the area from the United States and come from a very Asian populated city in California. I was impressed with this little store and the variety of items sold here. You can pretty much get everything you need!
Christina T — Google review
It has a very good collection of goods. The Indian section is amazing. They have a huge collection of snacks and spices of known Indian brands. The vegetable and fruit section is also very nice. But the prices are exorbitantly high. Also, they accept only cash and you may not receive a bill. One has to be careful and keep track of how they are charging. I would rather visit the other Asian shops in Lugano or Como or order online unless I am in urgent need of something.
Jayashrita D — Google review
After spending a lot of time to fill our basket, we found out that they actually can't accept card payment due to wifi problems (there were all the visa, master etc stickers in the cashier, though). We had no time to deal with an atm, so we left with buying nothing.

After coming back to Europe from living in Asia. I was pleasantly surprised with the assortment of goods. They have a large section for the different sauces, rice , alcohol , snacks, various spices, decent fresh vegetables. The frozen section as lot of choices from seafood, dumplings, meat , dough to make spring rolls and dumplings , and sweet items. So if you want some Asian food they are good. The owner seems friendly and is helpful. They have around 4 parking places outside. Also just so you know they only accept cash.

I booked this apartment for my stay in Lugano and it truly exceeded all my expectations. It is brand new, beautifully furnished, and located just a 15 minute walk from both the city center and the train station. There is also a bus stop right in front of the building that takes you to the lake in only 5 minutes, which was incredibly convenient. The self check-in process was smooth and easy, and the apartment had everything I needed for a comfortable stay. It was impeccably clean, and thoughtfully equipped. A big plus was the private parking space conveniently located near the entrance, something that is not always easy to find in Lugano. For breakfast, I really appreciated the excellent bakery just around the corner. Overall, this place was better than a hotel for me. I highly recommend it and am already looking forward to coming back.

All you need for a short stay in Lugano. Excellent arrangement, very practical for a short stay, charming and contemporary apartment, no expensive furniture but done with taste and thinking. Care and lots of useful upfront information provided by the owners - really outstanding hosts! Everything you need within a walking distance. Convenient and dedicated parking spot. 20 min. walking distance to downtown/lake The location is on a very busy road with lots of noise (also amplified by a bar located on the next block). We had to keep our windows shut and using the airco instead. The linens were not cotton and had some mixture of polyester or something which was not super comfy.
