Mexican restaurant
Nestled in the vibrant Fashion District of Toronto, Campechano Adelaide is a delightful haven for taco lovers. This cozy eatery has transformed the former Sadies Diners space into a charming spot that radiates rustic warmth and invites guests to indulge in authentic Mexican street food. The heart of their menu lies in their housemade tortillas, crafted from imported corn that’s soaked and ground fresh daily. Each tortilla is grilled to order, ensuring every bite bursts with flavor.
A 3 year in a row Michelin Guide for a reason. Tried their campechano taco, love the crispyness of the chicharron which for me the highlight for this taco. And also had the carnitas tender and flavorfull pork meat. I love how they made their soft taco shell it stays firm not not saggy. Ceviche was the great even if there were lots of onions it doesn’t have the after taste. Quesadilla was satisfying with a good amount of mozzarella cheese. Will definitely come back to try other tacos and the dessert. I suggest on their busy hours, make a reservation to secure your table. Service was great and fast.

The Tinga de Res might be the best taco I’ve ever had, and I’ve had a lot of tacos in this city (and others). The flavour is unreal and incredibly juicy. The tacos are a decent size as well (larger than the tacos at other joints I.e. La Carnita). They’re juicy, and full of flavor, though $11 each is a bit steep. The ceviche was fresh and tasty, it’s enough for two to share, ($25). I’d go back in a heartbeat, probably the best tacos in Toronto.
Christa M — Google review
Omg the tastiest tacos and cocktails!!! This spot has been on my hit list for ages, and we finally made it happen last week. My goodness, the tacos were to die for! So much flavor and variety across the menu. We tried the fish taco, carne, campechano (beef + chorizo), and a queso taco, all excellent. The queso was a touch oily from the cheese but still incredibly tasty. My favorites were definitely the fish taco and campechano taco. Everything’s made with fresh corn tortillas and paired perfectly with their well-balanced margaritas. Definitely a taco spot worth the visit! 🌮🍸
Nadia B — Google review
Great tacos, but overpriced for what they are. Campechano offers some of the best—if not the best—tacos in Toronto, and probably the closest you’ll get to what you'd find in Mexico. The flavors are bold, the ingredients are fresh and organic, and the tortillas are made in-house, which gives the tacos that authentic edge. My favorite was the **Al Pastor**: juicy, tender, perfectly marinated pork with a jalapeño sauce that ties it all together beautifully. Next up, the **Campechano** taco—great combination of meats, especially the chorizo, though I was hoping for more chicharrón to come through in the mix. Finally, the **Carnitas** taco was solid, with a nicely balanced salsa verde and pork that was cooked just right. As an appetizer, I tried the guacamole and chips. The guac was fresh and unique with a touch of pomegranate—sweet, but it worked well. Still, the portion was on the small side, especially if you’re sharing. Service was quick and attentive, just as you'd expect in a taco spot. The drinks menu had a good selection of Mexican options. Here’s the catch: no taco should cost $10 or more. It’s just too much, and it goes against the very spirit of taco culture—simple, delicious, and accessible. While the quality and taste justify the price in a Toronto context, Mexican taco culture was never meant to be this expensive. Worth trying once if you're in Toronto, especially if you're craving authentic Mexican tacos with high-quality ingredients. On a side note, good or bad critics can be accepted or not. However, respect should be always present, even more when you run a business providing service to public. Unfortunately, the owner of this restaurant does not seem to accept customers’ opinions elegantly and professionally (see reply below). We value the food and culture through our taste buds, not through our pockets.

The ceviche and horchata were amazing, thanks to those who recommended it. The ceviche was fresh, slightly citrusy, and generous but I did find it quite salty. Unfortunately, their tortilla chips were rock hard; it seemed made in-house but I think they’d do better by revising the thickness. It didn’t work well to support the ceviche, that I found myself eating the ceviche by itself. I ordered two tacos. I enjoyed my pineapple option but the meat was salty and the seasoning was too loud. There wasn’t much depth of flavour to the seasoning and was almost harsh. It’d work much better made less salty and with more dimension, while not overcooking the meat, as it was too dense. My second taco was way too salty, I could not appreciate anything else as it was drowned out by how salty it was. I get the place is busy and they’re rushed to cook quickly but overdoing it with salt only sabotages the overall dish from working well cohesively. I’d prefer to ask for salt and add as needed…! This was a major miss. It wasn’t inedible. **This was a visit based on the Michelin Bib Gourmand list recommendation for Toronto. I’d highly recommend the ceviche, horchata, and low-on-salt taco ;-). **Will it make your world? The horchata and ceviche might! Especially at this price.🍹

Fantastic tacos. Great variety of unique flavours. $11-13 per taco is a bit much though. They aren't that big and you'll need to eat 2-3 for a meal. Friendly staff. A bit loud but not too loud you can't have a conversation. It gets busy so you may have difficulty getting a table.

Best taqueria I've ever been to ! They make their own tortilla with corn directly from mexico ! This place is worth the detour and the margarita where definitely worth it ! I also recommend there guac and salsa, very surprising !
Alexandre R — Google review
They recommend 3-4 tacos per person but if you’re rolling in fasted and hungry 5-6 are the perfect amount. Seriously great tacos and well worth the steeper price.

Seven Lives Tacos y Mariscos is a popular taqueria located in Kensington Market, known for its authentic Baja-style tacos and seafood dishes. The tiny storefront is always bustling with customers eager to savor the Mexican tacos served with house-made salsas wrapped in double corn tortillas. Despite the long queues, patrons flock here for the fresh bursts of flavor and original taco combinations. The spot's specialty, the Gobernador taco, has garnered widespread acclaim for its deliciousness.
Amazing spot in Kensington Market! I absolutely loved Seven Life — the place, the vibe, the service — everything was top notch. I had never tried gourmet tacos before, and this was a game changer. The seafood was incredible. I ordered the ceviche along with the fish and shrimp tacos, and they were absolutely delicious. The nachos were the highlight for me — definitely my top recommendation, especially with all their spicy and non-spicy sauces (they’re all fantastic!). I will definitely be coming back.
CARLOS O — Google review
The best fish/shrimp tacos ever!! The gobernador and camarones a la diabla are PERFECTION. So tasty, fresh, and saucy without being heavy. Can’t wait to come back!! We also got the guajillo snapper but it was alright, it just lacked a bit of flavour.
Vivian I — Google review
Seven Lives is a must visit in Kensington Market! They offer delicious and thoughtful tacos at an affordable price. Seven Lives is centrally located around the busiest area of Kensington Market making them a great place to stop and take a break from shopping and exploring. I had the pleasure of trying the Pollo Asado, Chorizo & Papa, and Camarones A La Diabla tacos. The tacos all came packed with meat and were perfectly seasoned. I appreciated the sauce station on the counter where I added extra salsa verde which was delicious. I dined in and loved the standing table arrangement which encouraged a more casual fast dining experience. The tables were also stocked with plenty of paper towels as the tacos are stuffed with meat and you will get your hands messy. Overall I believe Seven Lives is a must visit if you’re in the area. Have a great time thrifting and then enjoy some wonderful tacos and wash them down with an ice cold Topo Chico!
Matthew F — Google review
July 2025: Visited after work around 5:40 and ordered the first 4 on the menu (Gobernador, Baja Fish, Camarones a la Diabla, and Guajillo Snapper) which were all quite tasty! We enjoyed the Camarones a la Diabla (delicious sauce, but very messy), and the Gobernador the best. Taco's aren't my go-to food, but I enjoyed them. We shared all four, which was good variety. Store has high-top tables only with no seats, but there are bag hooks. Music/playlist was a nice 2000s/2010s throwback. 4.5/5.0 rounded down.
Chris H — Google review
Food and service were good. Prices are a bit expensive but not crazy (most are for only one taco, which is unfortunate). However, it seems the owner wanted to cheap out in here because there are tables but no chairs! There is one bench inside the store and one outside, but that's it and neither has a back. If you can't stand up for long, use a cane, have children, etc, be warned. This place is not accessible. Even if you have a wheelchair to sit in, you can't use the tables unless your chair is height adjustable because the tables are bar height. What a shame.
Jadi D — Google review
It’s always a long line here, but it won’t take you long to wait. Tacos here is great, and you can choose the sauce you like. The shrimp one is just right for me.
蔡季倫 — Google review
The tacos were made fresh to order and tasted very authentic. The fried fish taco was recommended and it was well made. The fish was battered with light and crispy batter, well seasoned, and paired well with the sauce. The chicken taco was also tasty. The portion size was quite big, and the tacos were slightly hard to eat as there was so much filling. There are salsas and sauce that you can add to your liking. Would definitely stop by if in the area!
Forest B — Google review
I've been to this place before and the Baja Fish tacos are great every time! I found that on my most recent visit, the tortilla was a little dry and hard, but the sauce makes up for it! They also give you a big portion of fish in your taco. My friend got Carnitas taco and she loved it as well. I always stop by here whenever I'm in Kensington Market :)

Wilbur Mexicana, located in the bustling King West neighborhood, offers a modern and vibrant dining experience with its apothecary-inspired counter serving Mexican street food like tacos and burritos. The sleek room allows diners to order at the counter and enjoy Mexican cervezas or craft sodas from a state-of-the-art fountain. A highlight is the self-serve hot sauce and salsa bar featuring condiments like house-made pineapple-habanero salsa.
A great choice for quick and healthy (depending on what you get) food for lunch or dinner. Food is always made fresh and served quickly, allergies are happily accommodated for, and the menu has plenty of options. Plus, the hot sauce and salsa bar is a fan favourite. My personal favourite is the Cali Bowl - a lighter burrito bowl option with sweet potato fries. Love that the portion size is reasonable and doesn’t leave you feeling over-stuffed. Order at the counter and enjoy service to your table or take out. Indoor and outdoor seating. What more could you ask for!
Hailey A — Google review
Came for a late weekend lunch, I tried the bulgogi and fish tacos. The fish taco was excellent, the batter was light and crispy and the the fish itself was excellent. I wasn't as impressed by the bulgogi, the meat seemed a bit dry. I thought the self service salsa bar was a great touch, and my friends and I enjoyed trying the different hot sauces w the complimentary chips. Nice spot for a quick meal or snack.
Mich L — Google review
loved the overall atmosphere of the place, tried almost all of their tacos and would recommend their taco supreme and fish tacos- as well as the corn. Price seems steep but they are quite filling. Would definitely come back to try their other items
Rabbi R — Google review
I’d been meaning to try this place and finally got the chance during an evening walk. The tacos did not disappoint. I had the fish taco and my friend ordered the bulgogi and both were perfectly cooked, generous in size, and stayed crisp instead of getting soggy. The guacamole was fresh and flavorful, and there was a huge selection of sauces to dress up your tacos. The margaritas were tangy and refreshing, even though they were served from a tap, which felt unexpected but worked surprisingly well. The woman who took our order at the counter was well versed in the menu and helped guide us as we ordered, and made helpful suggestions to ensure we had the best experience. I’ll definitely be back for a full meal next time, not just a quick snack.
Tom G — Google review
Very quick service. HUGE RANGE of salsas and hot sauces, with the menu being designed around this. You can pick from most meals, and then make it you own with some of the sauces. Staff were friendly, food was delicious.
James H — Google review
The food tasted nice but the portions were relatively small for what they usually serve at mexican restaurants. Service was nice and ambiance is casual.
Khyati D — Google review
Returned for my second visit after the first one was really great. The staff are super helpful. I definitely recommend asking them if you are interested in any menu items but not sure how or what to order. The selection of salsas and sauces really makes this a great spot. Not only are the tacos, fajitas and quesadillas totally customizable, but you can add your choice if salsa and sauce to your exact taste and heat tolerance. Looking forward to the next visit for sure.

I had the quesadilla and my wife had the burrito…super fresh and very tasty…nacho chips with homemade salsa…the tortillas chip were very yummy and every hot sauce you can think of. THE STAFF are super helpful and friendly…thanks for the wonderful Wilbur experience.

Nestled in the vibrant Kensington Market, El Trompo is a cozy eatery known for its authentic Mexican cuisine and bustling patio. The menu features classic dishes such as handmade corn tortillas, succulent al pastor tacos, and zesty guacamole. With its colorful interior and friendly staff, the restaurant offers a welcoming atmosphere reminiscent of traditional Mexican eateries.
What a treat to find such authentic Mexican cuisine in Canada. Having lived in Texas for many years and traveled to Mexico, I developed a taste for the food (especially Al pastor). This restaurant is such a treat. The staff is wonderful and friendly. The atmosphere is wonderful and relaxed. Can’t way enough. What a find!!!
Jason R — Google review
Located in Kensington Market on Augusta Avenue, El Trompo offers a vibrant dining experience with both indoor and outdoor seating options. A highlight of the visit was the solo Spanish musician singing outside and the delicious tacos! During our visit, we ordered the Horchata and Jamaica for drinks which paired very well with the tacos. For starters, we ordered the Pico de Gallo, which was seasoned very well and had a perfectly light kick of jalapeño. The tacos did not come with garnish, and the leftover Pico de Gallo helped add to some of the ordered tacos, which included Lengua, Cochinita Pibil, and Al Pastor. The taco portion sizes are considered fairly priced, with five small tacos available for around $15, depending on the dish choice. The Lengua (beef tongue) was unexpectedly our favourite, with the texture and seasoning. The Al Pastor, which was their famous popular choice, lived up to its fame with its flavorful marinated pork and the addition of pineapple, which was refreshing. Do note, the Pescado (white fish) is not priced the same as the 5 pieces and is actually for per 1 piece. The outdoor area accommodates approximately 20 to 25 patrons, featuring 14 tables for two, while the indoor space can seat around 25 to 30 guests. The bathroom is located downstairs. Service at El Trompo was great, with staff frequently checking in to ensure we were cared for. They accept credit card payments and use a handheld device for both order taking and bill payment.
Carol F — Google review
Absolutely loved our work lunch catered by these folks! 🌮 I had the mushroom tacos, very flavorful! And the chorizo, spicy and savory. The salsa is seriously next level—fresh, zesty, and I could have eaten it with a spoon. Only tiny thing: the guacamole was good but could use a little more "umph"—maybe more lime or a pinch of salt. Overall, super tasty and would definitely recommend for your next office lunch! 👍✨
Viv — Google review
Had lunch at El Trompo in Kensington Market recently. I could have sworn that I was sitting on a street corner in Mexico. Had the guacamole (delicious) and corn chips to start (and share). The fish tacos (I got two) were gluten friendly and some of the best and most authentic tacos I've ever had. The service was attentive. Would definitely return.
Larissa P — Google review
Service was good. We had the trompo el pastor tacos and the chilaquiles with beef. Both were good, nothing extraordinary. We sat outside on the patio and unfortunately had to swat away yellow jackets, but the weather was great. 🐝 The mariachi singer started about 1:20pm as we were getting ready to leave, so it was quiet to start and then got to loud to talk.
JENNIFER D — Google review
We were in Kensington and walked by El Trompo! The tacos come in an order for 5, these are great portions and so flavourful! We would love to come back with a bigger appetite and try more off the menu. Amazing hospitality and service from the team checking in to see if we were good & refilled our water 👀
Chelsea — Google review
We hired their food truck for our wedding late night snack and not only was the food absolutely delicious but the service was amazing as well. We hired them to show up at ten and they showed up an hour early just to make sure everything was running smoothly. They also were very professional and served the food in a timely manner.

The fish taco was really good ,fresh and full of flavor. The beef tongue needed a bit of sauce and lemon, then it turned out great. Chill spot with friendly service and solid tacos overall.

Fine dining restaurant
Quetzal is a vibrant and upscale Mexican restaurant located in the trendy Toronto neighborhood, the Annex. The restaurant has earned a Michelin star for its unique modern dining experience that combines little-known Mexican ingredients with local Canadian produce. The sleek and modern dining room features an undulating sculptural ceiling with concealed lighting, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere.
Had the opportunity to try out Michelin star Quetzal and it definitely lived up to the hype! Everything from service, food and ambience was excellent. The server and management team checked in often and were very attentive. Ordered the curated menu and everything was amazing. From other reviews and my experience, there seems to be confusion with what’s actually served on the curated/tasting menu. The server said there will only be 4 dishes but it was actually 7. Also from the reviews, it seems everyone gets a different tasting menu and is random what each person gets. Not a complaint but would recommend more transparency to know what’s being served and how much food is expected. Other than that, overall Michelin-level experience and will definitely be coming back again!
Brian — Google review
Overall a nice experience, although I was surprised the tasting menu only had one dessert after reading the other reviews and experiences from friends. Also just comparing the number of dishes (10) vs some reviews seem to have more but I guess it’s just luck of the draw. Favourite was probably the first and last dish. Reservations definitely needed especially for larger group sizes.
Alice X — Google review
Superb! The food, service and ambience were impeccable. We sat at the chef’s bar situated in front of the fireplace which was great to be able to see all the action, but be warned it does get a little bit hot. We went with the curated chefs menu and it was delicious. Our favourite was the bone marrow with shrimp, Hokkaido Scallops and the cod. The espresso martinis were one of the best we’ve had. I can see how this restaurant has received a Michelin star 4 years in a row. Well deserved!
Stan T — Google review
Dining at this Michelin-starred restaurant once again confirmed on the prestigious list and recently ranked among the Top 50 in North America, was an unforgettable experience. We chose the curated tasting menu, meaning we had no idea what would arrive at the table, which made the evening feel like a true culinary adventure. The kitchen handled a dairy intolerance in our group seamlessly, adapting each course without question and without compromising quality or creativity. The number of courses was generous, leaving us fully satisfied without ever feeling overwhelmed. Each dish was beautifully presented and thoughtfully explained, with flavors that built on one another throughout the evening. The highlight for us was the desserts, several vegan creations that were among the best we’ve had in a long time, proving that plant-based sweets can be just as decadent and satisfying as any classic preparation. Service was polished and knowledgeable yet warm, striking the perfect balance between attentiveness and giving space to enjoy the experience. Yes, it is certainly on the pricier side, but this is more than a dinner, it’s a full sensory experience that celebrates technique, creativity, and hospitality. You leave feeling well-fed, well cared for, and genuinely impressed. All in all, this restaurant is absolutely worth a visit, and we would happily return to see what new surprises the next menu might hold.

My first visit to Quetzal happened a few years ago before it became very hyped and I liked it back then but didn’t think I would return. It was ok. Fast forward 4-5 years, a Michelin star happened, hype is through the roof and I thought “I gotta see what’s up and check out this place again.” Went in with high expectations but to my surprise the restaurant has a few flaws you wouldn’t expect at a place that’s supposed to be higher level than most. The menu has been the same for quite some time. Still the same roasted sweet potato and buttered scallop of 4 years ago, among other dishes. At a place like this I would expect the menu to evolve and change constantly but that hasn’t really happened. Food was ok but besides the mushroom dish there isn’t something that truly wow or blow you away, which is somewhat expected at a Michelin restaurant. Service was straight up terrible. Sommelier recommended two wines based on what my table said we’d like and both ended up missing the mark completely (we left the second bottle 80% full). The atmosphere is incredibly loud for a fine dining restaurant. Despite this, our waiter had the audacity to tell one of the people in my table that he was being too loud. Meanwhile, tables next to us were going bonkers. Absolutely unacceptable behaviour to single out one specific guest because the entire place was absurdly loud. Overall an awful experience. I have a hard time believing they will retain their star. Definitely won’t return.

Celebrated a birthday at the chef’s table on a Sunday evening and while our expectations were high, our experience soared beyond those expectations. We enjoyed the curated menu, where we were served 11 dishes across 5 extremely well-paced courses — most of them protein-forward and generously portioned. Standouts here were the beef tartare, pork jowl, and Mexican chocolate mousse. We didn’t drink any alcoholic beverages, but their mocktail menu impressed us as well—the Jamaica agua fresca was our favourite of the 3 drinks we sampled. Arguably better than the meal, though, was the service and atmosphere, which I can only describe as beyond attentive. We were helped by somewhere in the ballpark of half a dozen staff across our 2.5 hour meal, and not one of them left us without a unique and memorable impression. This is an expensive meal, without a doubt. Still, I left feeling ever dollar was extremely well spent, if not for the experience then for the sheer indulgence of the whole meal. In short: a masterclass in building a memorable dining experience.

Supet good. The shrimp & bone marrow was stellar, and the grilled scallops were divine. The other 2 dishes were fine. If i go back, i will request a table next time, because sitting at the ktichen bar was very hot and smokey. Great service

4.0/5 The ambience was very nice and the servers were pleasant. The tasting menu consisted of 9 dishes including appetizers, scallops, fish, meat, veggies (the grilled mushrooms were very good) and a dessert. The food was decent but nothing impressive, unfortunately. Each dish was unique and we appreciated this, but the food was quite salty and nothing stood out as being so scrumptious that we would return for… it’s worth a try if you like Mexican seasoning. Thanks to the bartender that made me a custom drink!

El Catrin Destileria is a vibrant and stylish restaurant located in the Distillery District, known for its elevated Mexican small plates and extensive tequila selection. The visually striking dining space features a Day of the Dead-themed mural, creating an immersive experience into Mexican cuisine. With standout seafood dishes like Tacos de Pescado and Camarones Al Mojo De Ajo, complemented by a wide variety of tequila and mezcal, El Catrin offers a festive atmosphere for guests to enjoy.
My wife and went to El Catrin last night for dinner for my birthday 🎂. It was a great experience! From the moment we walked in we were greeted by the host who was friendly. Our table was promptly ready and we sat down and were greeted by our server Ernesto (shout out to him, he was great!) We ordered drinks 🍸 to start, my wife had the Cava and i had the strawberry Margarita, both delicious! We ordered our food ; Appetizers: table side Guacamole (amazing), the Tuna tostadas (really, really good) and the Taquitos de Papa (also really good) for our main course we ordered the Baja Fish tacos and the Chicken Tings Flautas both excellent! For dessert we shared the Churros (must have!) The Campechanna cake (very good) and the Manjar Blacnco (which was vegan and great! ) all in all a great experience and highly recommend!

I went there with friends in a hot summer day of August with friends, there was no table available inside, we had to sit outside, on a table with direct sunlight without a sunshade and without the water misting system!!! It was not a good experience, till we asked the waitress to change our table .. and so she did as soon as a table was free! The service was fair enough and the food was good! I recommend the guacamole sauce experience as the waitress will prepare it for you live on your table!

Great food and our server was exceptional. The standard margarita was great and we shared taco plates that were all very good. We had great weather and their patio is perfect. The guacamole is prepared at the table and is really good!!

The atmosphere is vibrant and the decor is stunning, perfect for a night out. The food is absolutely delicious, especially the fresh tableside guacamole and tacos. Everything tasted fresh and flavorful, and the drinks were amazing too. Definitely one of my favorite places for Mexican food in the city! 🌮✨

I’m going to dream about the margarita flight forever now. They also had some great non-alcoholic beverages! The fish tacos were incredible and the fresh guacamole! So good! Also loved the outdoor seating and our server was lovely! We did however find that the time between ordering drinks and then food was quite long - but still 5 stars because the atmosphere was so nice.

I really enjoyed my time here! The atmosphere was vibrant and beautifully designed، the patio seating was cozy and lively, perfect for enjoying dinner with friends. The sauces were truly unique and full of flavor. The only thing that wasn’t quite to my taste was the meat in the tacos, but overall, it was a lovely and memorable experience.

Had a meal at a restaurant inside The Distillery — the atmosphere was great! The indoor space is beautifully decorated with a strong Mexican vibe, and you can tell a lot of thought went into the design. The outdoor seating is also really nice, especially when the weather’s good. Prices are on the higher side, but the food was quite good and worth trying.

Here I tried for the first time Crickets. Yes, the bugs😂 they have a strange taste, I cannot say anything alike. The guacamole is prepared right in front if you, so you cannot get it fresher than this. The waitress was very friendly and chatty. We really felt welcome. The food overall was very tasty.

Playa Cabana is a trendy and vibrant restaurant known for its modern Mexican cuisine and lively atmosphere. The cozy spot offers a range of tequilas and a funky, rustic vibe, making it perfect for a small dinner with friends or a special date night. The menu features fresh dishes like white fish tacos, ancho-braised short-rib tacos, Pollo Milanesa burritos, and the signature Playa burrito with various filling options.
When I’m telling you the size of that steak and shrimp burrito was unreal I’m being dead serious. Impossible to finish it but so so so so goooood. My friend got a carnitas burrito which was also 🔥🔥🔥 For entree we got some barbacoa flautas (very OG) and some guacamole n chips, tbh the guac could’ve been a little bit more mixed, there were some massive pieces of unblended avocado, but I’ll let it pass just cause the whole vibe of the place reminded me of chilling next to the beach back at home. As a Mexican I totally approved the place! I need to go back to try those churros tho! 🫰🏻🫰🏻

Pretty good taco joint. Lots of options. Tried the beef barbacoa and the fish taco. Also had the guac. Didn’t realize the tacos themselves come with guac … so totally stuffed full of it! Beef barbacoa was moist and tasty. The fish was uniquely shaped compared to other fish tacos I’ve had and the taste was good. Here you order by 3-4 tacos. Made fresh to order which is awesome. However, not allowed to mix and match - which I felt was a major con… if going alone would take you multiple visits to get through the whole menu. So I would say better for going with a group!

Been visiting this location for many years. Very happy with all the selections guac and chips are delicious the soft tacos were perfect baja fish and pork. I always get a burrito and have been pleased but tonight it could have been a bit warmer but it was still delicious. Highly recommend if you’re from the city or just visiting. Thank me later. The taco shells were soft and tasted really good. I especially liked the green bottled chili sauce . The red chili paste in the small jar was super spicy, so make sure to try just a little first 🤏. The service was excellent as well. Overall, it’s a nice restaurant, and I imagine the atmosphere at night would be even better

A great experience here for my friend's birthday. We made a reservation, which is likely necessary given the small size of the restaurant. Parking was a challenge, but there is a Green P that is about 5-8 minutes away that isn't too bad if the weather is good. The atmosphere is quite intimate and I did find myself bumping into other people / staff when going to and from the washroom, etc. The food was pretty good - the tacos were full of flavour and I got to try a variety by sharing with the group. I think my favourite was the beef barbacoa. The prices are definitely a bit up there for a Mexican restaurant, I believe the tacos were around $7 each. The quality made it worth it, but there's definitely other places in Toronto that serve up a great taco for nearly half the price. We also tried a couple of appetizers, including the nachos, guac and ceviche. The nachos were something special - it was a bit of a nacho pizza. I didn't expect that from Playa Cabana, given everything else was very authentic. The taste was good, but it was a bit of a challenge to share! The highlight of the night was definitely the desserts - we ordered the tres leches cake, and the churros. Definitely the best churro I've ever had.

Came here with a fairly large group of friends (9 people) at 9 PM of a thirsday night. They accepted us kindly. The venue is fairly small but we could be sitted. It is a bit jammed and dark but has a good mexican vibe. Food were good too. Nothing too special but very standard and tasety mexican dishes. The virgin mojito was lovely though😋 price was good with respect to the food quality. The service was okay. Nice people and waitress. The only problem was that they didn't split the bill for us.

Playa Cabana was such a treat! With lively rustic decor, good music and yummy food it was the perfect combo for a fun night out with friends. For starters, the guacamole was good, freshly made, creamy but was lacking a bit of salt. But overall it was good. As for the mains, Carnitas in tacos was my personal favorite. Also tried the Pescado Baja Fried, Al Pastor and Al Carbon. Everything was well balanced. Loved the margaritas pitcher and finished with churros. Totally worth it. Great selection of beer as well. Overall, Playa Cabana has become a personal favorite for Mexican food in the city. Great for a night out with friends. Highly recommended!

Tacos El Asador is a bustling, family-run taco shop located in Koreatown. After relocating to a larger space, the restaurant continues to thrive with its classic and simply dressed tacos like cochinita pibil and al pastor. In addition to an expansive menu featuring Mexican and Salvadoran dishes, the restaurant offers a variety of soft and crispy tacos with fillings such as beef tongue, chicken, pork, chorizo, shrimp, and vegetarian options.
I met up with a very close friend here. She had recently lost her pet dog and asked me if I was craving anything? She is located in down town toronto and im coming from mississauga. So, I suggested this place as it is somewhat in between and will have comfort plus whole foods. The tacos and tostadas here are amazing. As we navigated through deep and tough discussions, we munched on guacamole and chips, the chicken tacos, tamale and tortilla soup. It was just what we both needed. The food was excellent, just like I remember it when I visited many years ago when it used to be across the street (a little hole in the wall). They give extra lime to add to all the dishes, which gives it the extra zing. The hot sauces complimented the food and we enjoyed it all. I would recommend that the plain corn tamale have a corn filling inside like the others do, it would elevate the dish. Overall, highly recommend!

Was watching the blue jays games here .This place has excellent customer service they attend to you very sweet and warm welcoming .The food is very hot and served so fast I couldn’t believe it . The nachos with no meat added was amazing !! And even the pupusas were good I got revuelta and I order tacos de birria. This the second time I went to this place and the food taste was still the same I like that :) check this place out and sorry didn’t take to many pictures was eating ahaha

First visiting Tacos El Asador. We dropped by as it was recommended from friends, we ordered pupusas and chilaquiles. The pupusas were really good, and the chilaquiles were tasty but the consistency could have been better. The tortilla chips seems like were soaking for far too long in the salsa verde and they were mushy. Otherwise, flavour wise pretty good. This spot is a bit on the pricier end.

Last time i got tacos here and it was decent. This time I'm just got confused by what I'm getting. Out of the 4 tacos got 1 that was good like last time. The others was just a big mess. It's like a deep fried eggrole that's has burnt bitter taste while the inside is just mushy, chicken inside taste bland and dry. And why is my veggies outside with only lettuce, no onion or cilantro.

The Food was proper but nothing to write about. Enjoyed my Platano maduros, the burrito was good according to my friend but my tacos need more flavour.

This place is just okay. I imagine that in a neighborhood where food options are limited, it’s nice to have this option. The server was really kind and the people working there were very nice. The food was just okay. My dining partner and I found the food to be very, very salty which if you’re into, you might like. It wasn’t to our tastes. I wouldn’t say it was awful, just not great. The bathrooms also had a very unpleasant odor.

Chula Taberna Mexicana is a vibrant cantina with colorful murals and a spacious patio, offering a modern Mexican dining experience. Guests can indulge in flavorful tacos such as chipotle grilled chicken, crispy zucchini, and beer-battered haddock.
My go to place for Mexican food! Amazing vibe, taste and atmosphere. People are so nice here, I remember a time when their phone wasn’t working and we were unable to reserve a table on their website too so we happen to call their neighbours and they graciously accepted our request and we made it from Kingston! The staff goes above and beyond for everything, they also supported us to celebrate a friend’s bday, I would say, this place is awesome. I would summarize this place as below: Portion ❌ (reduced it after covid, your food is tasty, please bring back the same portion) Taste ✅ Freshness ✅ Flavourful ✅ Quality ✅ Quantity ❌ Temperature ✅ Staff friendliness ✅ Store cleanliness ✅ Hospitality ✅ Respectful ✅ Helpful ✅ Worth your time ✅ Worth your $$$ ✅ Vegetarian options ✅ Customization for allergens ✅ Ambience 💯 Vibe 💯 Authentic 💯 Recommend this place? 💯 Price: Expensive $$$

Chula is easily one of the best Mexican restaurants in Toronto. From the moment you walk in, you're met with an energetic yet welcoming vibe that sets the tone for an incredible dining experience. The food, service, and ambience are all top notch. The nachos and drinks were absolutely addictive — fresh, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. Every dish we tried was bursting with bold, authentic Mexican flavors, and the staff made us feel well taken care of throughout the evening. If you enjoy Mexican cuisine, Chula is a must-try. It’s the kind of place you’ll want to come back to again and again. Five stars, no hesitation.

From the moment you walk into Chula Taberna Mexicana, you’re welcomed by a lively Tex-Mex atmosphere. The staff greets you with warm smiles and genuine hospitality, setting the tone for a great dining experience. To start, we ordered the “Dos Amigos” – a combination of guacamole, pico de gallo, and tortilla chips. It was tasty and fresh, though it could’ve used just a pinch more salt to enhance the flavor. For drinks, we tried three Mango “Sodas Flacas,” which were super refreshing and bursting with flavor – definitely a highlight. For our main course, we ordered two Smoked Chicken Bowls. They were absolutely delicious! However, a heads-up: the sauces are quite spicy. If you’re not used to heat, I’d recommend asking for them on the side or skipping them altogether. We also tried the Birria Tacos, and the birria broth dipping sauce was rich and full of flavor – a must-try! In addition, we had two Baja Fish Tacos and one Pork Carnitas Taco. Both were very good, but again, the spice level was on the higher side. If you’re sensitive to spice, it’s something to keep in mind. To wrap things up, we shared two desserts: the Churro Sundae and the Tres Leches Cake. Both were amazing! The churros were my personal favorite – crispy, sweet, and perfectly done. The tres leches cake came with deep-fried ice cream, which was a fun twist on the classic. The only small critique would be that the cake could have been a bit more moist. As a final touch, after paying the bill, our server offered us three complimentary tequila shots with curaçao as a digestif – such a kind and memorable gesture!

I really enjoyed this restaurant! The vibe is nice and the place is aesthetically pleasing. The staff were very accommodating and made sure to check on us often. The food was pretty good - I got the Birria Tacos which were packed with flavour. The Churros were crispy and cooked perfectly. It tasted nice with the caramel sauce. Overall, I would definitely come back - they had a lot of options for single tacos which I’m excited to try.
Crystle — Google review
Delicious food, excellent service! Great vibe in the restaurant. Margaritas were great, fried calamari topped with pickled onions was so good there was no time for a photo! Plant based vegan and vegetarian options were a delight to see as part of their menu. Although I did feel my vegan stuffed poblano pepper could’ve had a little more stuffing in it. My mom’s that had cheese was much more full. Hubby had the rice bowl which he says was excellent, but could’ve been improved by not drowning it in the sauce. Maybe serve the sauce on the side? Kiddo loved his fish tacos. Churros need work, in our opinion, they were thick and heavy. The tres leches fried ice cream was an hit! Overall a delicious dinner and we will return.
Erin S — Google review
The food was straight up not good. And took forever to come out. I can’t explain it, but everything tasted bland yet I walked away feeling very heavy. The server was a kind man who tried his best, but he was the only one at the restaurant manning both the serving and the bartending, meaning it took close to 30 minutes to circle back to us if we wanted to add anything. We ended up getting our own waters, placing our order at the bar, and paying at the bar on the way out. Which is fine if the food was good, but it was not.
Mostafa R — Google review
We visited here more than a year ago for a birthday celebration. Excellent mexican fusion restaurant. Menu options are limited especially for vegetarian, that said the ones available are delicious. XOLA is a cozy, cash-only Mexican restaurant located in Toronto's East end. The name "XOLA" translates to "by the water" in Mayan, paying homage to its location overlooking Lake Ontario. With only 18 seats, it's recommended to make reservations in advance. The menu features reimagined Mexican comfort food such as Sopa Azteca and Barbacoa, along with flavorful cocktails like the spicy mango margarita.
Went to XOLA to celebrate my friend’s birthday and honestly, the whole night was a vibe. The food was so good; I had this pork dish that was tender and full of flavor, plus some fish tacos that hit just right. We also shared a few apps and cocktails, and everything was straight-up solid. The host was super chill and welcoming, which added to the good energy. Service was smooth, and the place has this low-key cool atmosphere without trying too hard. Definitely a spot I’d go back to; perfect for catching up with friends or just treating yourself to some good Mexican food.

Having recently been to Mexico City, we were craving authentic flavours, this place is hits the spot! The only thing is we wish that they had the Mexican prices, ha! But we get it, Toronto is expensive to exist in. Price aside, the dishes were amazing, especially that mole! Our server was lovely and sweet and took the time to walk us through the menu and give us a bit of history to the place. Will definitely be back!

I went to this restaurant yesterday with a friend. We ordered two tacos—one with chicken and one with beef—and a guacamole as an appetizer. The guacamole was the best part of the meal—fresh and flavorful. Unfortunately, the rest was a big disappointment. The beef taco smelled really bad—so much so that my friend couldn’t even take a bite. My chicken taco didn’t look or taste like a taco at all. It looked more like a spring roll with dry chicken inside and had no guacamole or proper fillings. It felt like they just wrapped dry chicken in something and called it a taco. We barely ate anything and still ended up paying around $89 for the meal. I mentioned the issue to the staff, but they just charged us without any apology or explanation. I rarely leave negative reviews, but I think people should know. Based on our experience, I wouldn’t recommend this place Thanks for reply! On the picture you can see both dishes when you open the picture . Also I told your employee that we didnt like the food at all but the Guacamole was so good but he didn't do anything!

The food wasn’t the best or the worst I’ve tasted, but I was expecting better. The Adobo was excellent, full of flavour and generously portioned with beef. However, the Tacos Dorados were disappointing. They lacked flavour and seasoning, and I had to dip them in the Adobo to make them edible.
Nikko T — Google review
Very hit and miss. The Adobo was amazing! So tender and flavourful. However, the Tacos Dorados were unappetizing. The chicken had zero flavour and was so dry …reminded me of my cat’s freeze dried chicken treat. Also, I found the portions quite small for the price. The service was quick, but also felt very cold and unwelcoming.

Not just a taco spot. This is very authentic Mexican with some delicious meals on their menu! Super fun to try. I would’ve put a 5/5 but my chicken green sauce was a bit flat in flavor compared to the super flavorful shrimp ceviche. I will definitely come back to try the birria taquitos everything on the menu looks amazing. Highly reccomend their hot sauce very spicy but delicious!

We tried the restaurant first time few years ago and weren’t impressed. We decided to give it another chance since a few ppl were saying they really liked it. Unfortunately, we didn’t enjoy it at all. My understanding that dining in has special vibe etc, but we ordered for take out. The food was very average and even more disappointing for the price $99 (+ gratuity) for 2 main dishes and vegetable quesadillas.

Nestled in Toronto's vibrant Kensington Market, El Rey Mezcal Bar exudes a cozy ambiance with its rustic wood decor and exposed brick walls. This intimate spot is renowned for its extensive selection of mezcal, offering tasting flights and potent mezcal cocktails that are both fun and flavorful.
El Rey Mezcal Bar – Kensington Market, Toronto Sunny Sunday in Kensington Market, and we found ourselves on the patio at El Rey. We had our pup with us, and the staff were on top of it—water was brought out right away without us even asking. That kind of attention goes a long way. A fast two margaritas, guac and chips, and we were happy, happy, happy. Then came the ceviche—bright, with just the right amount of heat. Great flavours. This is some of the best Mexican food I’ve had in a long, long, long time. Five stars is five stars. Thank you, Neil.

FOOD: best Mexican bar in Kensington. • Guacamole and chips: the Guacamole is just right, not too acidic. Creamy and flavorful. Love that they add fried onion to enhance flavor and texture. • Fish taco: crispy, moist, so many different types of veggie on it. • Grill pork taco: meat is super tender. Pineapple kills all the fat flavor and gives a very juicy, citrus taste to the taco. DRINKS: their margaritas is the best thing on earth. I can't stop drinking it. SERVICE: i feel very welcomed, my waiter is so friendly with big smile. VIBE: very fun during summertime. Patio, music and the vibe makes me feel like being in mexico for a while.

Visited El Rey after a day downtown with my daughter and granddaughter. We first met Neil and Jeremy on the patio, they were welcoming and helped make our granddaughter comfortable - a hangry toddler! Allie was our server, she is delightful, attentive and made our visit a joy. Drinks were excellent I had the Open Water cocktail, it was refreshing and well balanced We loved the Crispy Squid Tacos, Birria Quesadillas, Guacamole and Chips, and Shrimp Cocktail special. They even made the little one a simple chicken and cheese soft taco. Sitting on the patio in Kensington Market was exciting, with so much to see. Great spot for tasty food, good drinks, and friendly service. We’ll be back!

My boyfriend and I absolutely love El Rey. It has quickly become one of our favorite spots to go together for drinks, and it feels like a special place for us. The atmosphere is always warm and inviting, and we really appreciate how the bar is constantly innovating with its menu. I especially loved La Lavandería. It was one of my favorite cocktails and I was sad to see it go because it was absolutely delicious. Still, it’s amazing to see the creativity and passion that always go into the new offerings. El Rey truly never disappoints.

Great cocktails, but tacos could be improved for the price point. But atmosphere is great as is the service, if you’re going try the Al Pastor tacos but avoid the chicken one as they were on the more bland side. Regardless a great place in Kensington

My friend and I each had one drink, and they were pretty good cocktails. The atmosphere of the place was pretty good, too. Came here on a whim, and I was impressed! The food was amazing (and not too expensive). Their menu is limited which means they really have perfected the dishes they carry. I loved everything I ate, the ceviche, the tacos, and the dessert. The service was great too! Our server was really friendly, and took the time to explain the dishes (as one of my friends has an allergy). I also had my dog with me (their patio is dog friendly) and they brought him a cup of water. I will definitely be back here, this place has been added to my favourites list.

Comal y Canela is a popular Mexican restaurant in Toronto, offering a down-to-earth dining experience with a focus on authentic home cooking. The restaurant takes pride in its Mole Poblano, a dish prepared using traditional cooking methods passed down through generations. The warm and inviting ambiance reflects the heritage of Mexico, creating an atmosphere reminiscent of a Mexican family's home. Committed to authenticity, the menu features dishes like Beef Birria, birria tacos, and Mexican poutine.
Bring an curious palette, an open mind, and a big appetite. Leave your preconceptions of Mexican food behind. I came here with my wife and kids so of course they wanted the taquitos and quesadilla. These authentic versions had my kids questioning everything they thought they knew about what they liked, these were delicious, massive servings, but nothing like what the kids expected. They described both dishes as having a sweetness, perhaps from the cheese, it was definitely an interesting and eye-opening version to them. Birria tacos were a hit with all of us, but the birria torta was a surprise hit that I will definitely come back for. The serving was a lot for me and I was able to take some hold and re-enjoy it later, LOL. The birria soup has a deep complex taste. It's so delicious and it's so nice to find a place where it has shreds of the meat inside of the soup - I could happily order a container just to drink by itself. Let me not forget about the nachos which are dangerously delicious and if you're not careful you could easily fill up on these. So watch out and don't ruin your appetite, like my mom would say. The red and green sauces have a good balance between taste and heat, we were eating the sauces with everything. The Michelada drink was superb and went with everything. Normally I'm not into a Cesar type drink but this one is different in the best ways. Yum.

The service and atmosphere was great - no doubt. The servers were very hospitable. The food was okay ! The Birria tacos were good however the Quesdilla was average In terms of taste. Nice place for a cozy date or you can have the larger tables for family groups.

We celebrated my wife’s birthday here and it was amazing! The food was authentic and absolutely delicious. Our server Angie was outstanding, and the whole team made it special by singing Happy Birthday in Spanish and bringing a delicious cake. Truly 5-star service and experience!

We have been wanting to try this place for a while and it was definitely worth the wait. Everything we ordered was really good but our favourites were the birria tacos and quesadillas. The beef taquitos are a must try too. The staff were all really nice and made the experience even better.

If you want truly authentic Mexican food in Toronto, Comal y Canela is the place! The flavors are rich and vibrant, and you can taste the love in every bite. Their birria tacos are absolutely incredible—crispy, cheesy, and paired with a flavorful consommé that’s perfect for dipping. The Michoacano burrito with its cheese-crusted tortilla is also a must-try! The restaurant is cozy and colorful, making you feel like you’ve stepped into a small Mexican kitchen. Seating is limited, so it can get busy, but it’s 100% worth the wait. Staff are warm, welcoming, and happy to explain the menu if you’re trying something new. Highly recommend for anyone craving real Mexican flavors and a heartfelt dining experience. 🌮❤️

I saw this place on tiktok and little while ago and i finally got the chance today, and it did not disappoint!! the food was amazing and authentic but the best part of it all was the overall quality and sizes. Everything is what you pay for. The tacos are FULL of meat and so are the flautas. They also provide soooo much consome. As someone who’s tried many mexican restaurants in the gta this is by far the best. I’m definitely coming back to try more of their diverse menu items.
Geraldine E — Google review
We came here to celebrate my sister’s birthday, and unfortunately, the experience was disappointing. The food was just average — nothing special for the price. The servers were not attentive at all, and it felt like they weren’t paying much attention to the guests. Despite putting a note on our reservation about the birthday, the staff completely ignored it. My brother-in-law actually had to remind them and specifically ask to put a candle on the dessert we paid for — something that should have been handled with care and without prompting. Overall, the service lacked attention and warmth, which completely takes away from a celebratory experience. I would not recommend this place, especially if you’re planning something special.

Restaurant
Itacate is a quaint taqueria and butcher shop located on St. Clair Ave West, offering an array of classic Mexican street eats. The menu features mouthwatering tacos, quesadillas, and tamales that are sure to delight your taste buds. One standout item is the fan favorite Volcan taco, featuring perfectly seasoned steak, caramelized onions, and cheese on a soft tortilla.
This place might not look like it but it is a premium Mexican food restaurant, with this I mean that even if is a very small and old-looking place, the authenticity and level of flavour on their menu are at another level. You will be amazed by these places served by a few Mexican women who prepare a large variety of delicious food. The tacos have a great portion, I highly recommend the shrimp and suadero (chef kiss) their fried quesadillas have the best quality of cheese and are crispy and hot, their regular quesadillas are so large and great, had mine with chicharrón and were spectacular (a bit too salty but is normal with chicharrón) The Torta ahogada is a dream, not much places offer this dish and as a Tapatía and so happy to find it on the menu. Be advised that they only take cash or e-transfers and the sitting area is very limited.
Iliary D — Google review
It's always a bit sad when a place you once loved doesn't quite live up to expectations. Having fond memories of Itacate from a visit back in 2018, I was eager to revisit this Toronto spot after seven long years, hoping to recapture the magic that drew me in initially. Unfortunately, my recent experience left me with a sense of disappointment. While the staff remained as friendly as I remembered, the quality of the food seemed to have taken a noticeable dip. In a city like Toronto, which now boasts a vibrant and diverse Mexican culinary scene with over a hundred restaurants, the dishes I tried this time simply didn't impress. The flavours seemed to miss the mark, lacking the authenticity and vibrancy I had hoped for. Adding to the less-than-stellar experience was the continued inconvenience of their cash-only policy in this day and age. Furthermore, our order wasn't entirely accurate; my horchata was forgotten and only arrived after we had finished our meal, which was a bit of a letdown. It's truly heartbreaking when a beloved spot doesn't live up to past experiences. While the service was still commendable, the decline in food quality in a competitive market like Toronto leaves me unlikely to return in the near future. I sincerely hope Itacate can recapture the essence that made it special in the first place.
Andrea B — Google review
It's one of my favourite Mexican spots in Toronto. It serves delicious tortas and tacos. The place is small, with just a few tables, but I usually order takeout to enjoy at home. The flavours are reminiscent of Mexico City, and I love it! Also, the portions are pretty big.
Natasha O — Google review
Great people, great service, simple and authentic Mexican cuisine. This isn't Tex-Mex type of food. This is real Mexican, so don't go in thinking about a taco overflowing with sauces. This is bare bones - corn tortillas, a good selection of meats and 2 different chilli based sauces (green Serrano and reddish-orange habanero). Tried shrimp, volcan steak, choriqueso, vegetarian and I liked the choriqueso the most, followed by the shrimp. Horchata was good, but a bit high on cinnamon (this varies by the restaurant from what I've seen). The people are just awesome though. When I asked for more habanero they wanted to warn me, not knowing that I can take that and more! A must visit and I'm glad I chose this restaurant over many other fancier ambiance providing Mexican restaurants in the downtown core.

My favourite taco place in the city. Reminds me of the tacos I’d get in LA. Beef cheek and beef tongue are amazing. The hot sauces have a kick to them!
Daryl — Google review
A real Toronto hidden gem. I want to gate-keep this spot, but they deserve the exposure. The ladies running this establishment have to be doing some kind of sorcery in the kitchen because the food is so damn good. They’re slinging out some of the best and most authentic tacos I’ve had in the city. I had the lengua (beef tongue) and suadero tacos - absolutely sensational. My friend and I also shared a chilaquiles with some fried eggs on top - delicious. Two tacos alone had me stuffed, they do not skimp on the meat here! The lengua in particular was my favourite, the meat melted in my mouth like butter. The atmosphere was great. Very big on the homey vibes. You can see the love and care the owners/staff put into their food. Feels like my long-lost Mexican tías were taking care of me. I will definitely be back again, and again, and again! Cash or e-transfer only by the way.

While the service may be slow due to the busy nature of the place, the warm smiles and inviting aroma make it worth the wait.

Chicharones are crispy but needed more salt. Pupusas are good, hands down. We also got Carne Asada steak and it was great. Not happy with the Bandeja for 2 as the meat were dry and when we raised it, the server said we should have mentioned how we wanted it done. We were not given the option though. It was a big portion so had lots of leftovers which I turned into adobo as it was too dry to eat by itself.

Im rating 5 stars, by all means I only went in there with the intentions of eating pupusas. So its was like… its either bad or good. oh yes, nice and stuffed and juicy miss mamas! I got there around 7pm on a Wednesday and although there wasnt many people in there, you can tell people know eachother / regulars. Kinda makes me feel like back home, sense of community? Oh yeah randomly they played mariachi and then some guy said that this song was dedicated for me… i pretend to not know Spanish when I did 😅💀 but everyone seems sweet!! I got 3 pupusas which is 5$ each and my favourite pop Inca Cola, i think it all came up to 18$ which I dont hate! The pupusas where GREAT! Get the mixed ones. Beans, cheese, and chícharon !!

All-round, solid variety of delicious pupusas available, La Pupusa Loca will captivate with a home-like feel of Salvadoreño roots. The staff are polite and fairly prompt, and try to maintain that during busy hours. It helps that they are bilingual, so it’s worthwhile for anyone trying to improve on their Spanish. They have other authentic Salvadoreño dishes, but they are highly known for their pupusas. It’s worth noting they also have imported beverages/sodas such as Inca Cola (Peru) and Tropicana (Ecuador). I personally love their Horchata and Tamarindo. Overall, fantastic place to indulge in your cravings for Spanish based meals. Highly recommend this place to all, family and friends alike.

I love this place. My favorite pupusa spot when I'm done my appointments in that area. The servers are so nice and they teach me more Spanish every time I go. The food is just... wow. I want to try everything on the menu. Recently I ate the beef stew it's sooo good and tender. The soup looks amazing portions are big and the hot sauce to die for. I always ask for a little container to bring home. I went on a Saturday before where they had live music which was really cool and unexpected. Don't come here if you're in a hurry! You can't rush perfection. Have been and always will be returning ♡

Located in a semi-industrial area of Vaughan, Cuscatlan is a bright, colourful salvadoran eatery that prepares wide-ranging Latin fare like pupusas, tamales, and grilled meats. The food here is some of the best that I have had thus far in terms of flavours, and it's definitely something that you won't regret trying out if you're looking for something unique and tasty.
First time at a Salvadorian restaurant. From the moment we walked in, the staff was friendly and welcoming, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. The food was great and the portions were generous. Even though the restaurant was bustling, the service was very good. Our food arrived quickly, within 20 minutes. We'll definitely be recommending it to our friends and family!

My first Salvatorion-meal experience and I liked it. We had Ceviche de Camarones, Pescado Frito (red snapper), Sopa de mariscos / seafood soup, and two choices for pupusas. We liked them all, with soup soup my favorite among them. Drinks were great too. We had Cebada salvadoreña, Jugo de tamarindo, Horchata salvadoreña. Among them I liked the Horchata the best. The place was not busy. Only one server and he was friendly, patient and helped.

This was our first time trying this place! I have been wanting some pupusas and this was the closest to us. Service was great, very friendly. Upon first impression of the restaurants, it is outdated and could use some renovations but we were there for food so it wasnt a big deal about the atmosphere. We were the only ones dining in during lunch and wasnt busy at all. We tried the pupusas with chiccharon and cheese, carne asada meal to share, and flautas de pollo All good, no complaints, very filling! we ended up having leftovers. Overall it was decent! i cant compare to any other similar restaurant yet but 5 stars for customer service :)

The best latin food in North York, hands down. The pupusas are a staple. But i must know: how could you take those columbian empanadas off the menu. I told stories about those things. People took a bite of those things and looked at me like i just cast a magic spell on them. You must bring back those empanadas. ANSWER: No way, I checked EVERY time I ordered out. My GF was like, "see if the empanadas are back" EVERY time, and they were always unavailable. Either way, it's fixed now, and I am a happy boy. I don't think you understand just how much I love these things. EDIT: 3/20/2025 THEY ARE BACK!!!! Oh... mygod. I bought an order COLUMBIAN EMPANADAS for myself and another to bring to work, then handed them out and jaws just dropped. The steak tacos... I didn't know! I've been stuck on the pupusa and the empanada that I didn't even bother with the rest of the menu. But it was my Bday, so fk it, I'm getting tacos. Don't try to eat them standing up or you might fall over when your knees buckle. Full stars for bending to public demands. And another thing. It smells so good when you open the door to this place. it's like the love of your life jumping into your arms after having been parted for too long a time. It's like the sunlight coming through the curtains when you take a sunday afternoon nap.

Local restaurant serving delicious pupusas. Came here close to closing to order 5 pupusas to go. They were still piping hot after a 10min drive home. The slaw that goes with the pupusas were crunchy and strong in vinegar. Overall a great place to fill up on Salvadorian cuisine

A 3 1/2 really. The pupusas were crispier than I normally have had, but still tasted really good. The platanos con frijoles y crema was excellent. Where they lost me was on the curtido - this is normally fermented, and juicy, here it was dry, and that’s where they lost a star for me. If I’m back in the area I’d eat here again.

Unassuming restaurant that hits the spot. You know you’re at the right place when everyone is conversing in Spanish. We started with the Fried Yuca & Papusas ended the meal with the mix platter. Absolutely amazing spot! San Silvar reminds me of back home — good, fresh, and full of flavour. I ordered the mixed plate and a bunch of meat, bean, and cheese pupusas for the family at lunch, and everything was delicious. Honestly am super disappointed. I do believe all these recent reviews are faked to cover the horrible service of this place. Me and my family have been coming here for years and honestly the place is just not doing well since new management took over. Not only did we wait for 20 minutes trying to get the waitress attention to take our order. She kept taking others orders. When we finally had her take our order I asked for 5 revueltas papusas (pork and cheese) in which the waitress tells me they only have the mixed (pork, cheese, and beans). We ask why they can't make the one I just asked for that just doesn't have the beans in. which the waitress says they do not have them. Honestly fed up we just left. We had come on a previous visit on which they didn't have mayo, chilly sauce, or anything on the breakfast menu (that they advertise as all day breakfast. Will not be returning. Better off saving your time and money and go to another El Salvadoran restaurant that would not keep telling you they don't have the items on their menu.

My friend and I came for Summerlicious and the food was amazing. For our appetizers, we had the Caldo Costeño de Camarón (shrimp soup in a rich tomato broth seasoned with chile guagillo & epazote) and the Tostada de Tiritas (BC snapper crudo, marinated onions, serrano, chile de árbol salsa on crisp tortilla). The soup was delicious while the BC snapper had a nice lemon/lime flair and a kick of spice. For our mains, we had the Pescado a la Veracruzana (atlantic cod seared in virgin olive oil, with a rustic tomato salsa with capers, olives, chiles güeros & sweet peppers) and the Lengua en Alcaparrado (quick-seared tender sliced beef tongue served in oaxacan pepitas & caper mole with prune & chile pasilla sauce). The atlantic cod was cooked literally to perfection: the layers of fish flaked away from each other and you could still see that it was translucent. I recommend mixing the fish and the tomato sauce along with the rice for a more balanced flavour. The sliced beef tongue was very tender and had some spice as well. The portion looks small but the dish is very satisfying. For dessert, we had the lime mouse with chile morita crumble and the tres leches cake. It was the perfect end to a delicious meal. The restaurant is quite big and offers patio seating. The décor is beautiful and highlights Mexican culture. Service was wonderful.

I loved all the food I’ve got! The guacamole with pork was delicious. I was almost full before ordering main dishes🫠 The regular guacamole with chips was also perfect starter. Then I got shrimp tacos and beef quesadilla. The portion was surprisingly big. They are definitely worth the price. The quesadilla had so much filling inside and the crunchiness of the potatoes matched with all the flavors. I enjoyed every bites.

About the Place: The restaurant was quite empty when we arrived right at the start of dinner hour, which made for a quiet environment. However, the ambiance didn’t quite resonate with us and felt a bit uninspired. About the Food: We ordered a plate of tacos and a couple of margaritas. The margaritas were enjoyable and well-made, but the tacos were just average — nothing particularly memorable in flavor or presentation. Overall: Overall, the experience was okay but felt somewhat overpriced considering the food and atmosphere. It’s a decent option for a casual outing but may not be the best choice if you’re looking for great ambiance or standout dishes.

Maybe it was just a perfect day, but our visit here was an absolute joy. Drinks (sangria for me, Mojito for The Wife) and tacos (I had shrimp, I can't remember what hers were, but she loved them) were just fantastic. It was a gorgeous spring Sunday at Kensington Market, so wonderful people-watching while we sipped and ate. The only thing that could improve things might be complementary chips and salsa, but that's not even close to a complaint. In a weekend full of great meals, this might have been my favorite. We hope to be back soon!

Wow! No pictures unfortunately I ate my meal up so quick! The food is authentic Mexican and absolutely delicious! I had a very hard time deciding what to have. Tamales 🫔 were very good! Absolutely have the guacamole and chips - fantastic! Service was 10/10. Outdoor patio is perfect for a nice break while shopping the Kensington market! Would 100% recommend!!

I think the bartender was drunk lol. My beer is upside down lol. We came here for the mole sauce because it is the only restaurant that serves mole in our area of the city. Food was good. Service was good. Vibe was good. My only beef is the high prices.

Unreal experience. Went her for a second date. The girl thought I was deranged until I ordered the Mexican street corn. Boy did that save the night. Food was delicious and the service was impeccable. Good foot traffic for a Monday and everybody seemed to enjoy their meals. It’s my fourth time here and will be back soon. And they sell hot sauce which is to die for.

We were lucky to find a table as we walked in on a Big game night. Our server was very attentive and pleasant. He ensured we got our drinks and food per order and even chatted with us. They have few veg/vegan opts however their non veg menu is extensive. A suggestion for the management to add more veg/vegan opts with many people adapting the new diet.
Mitesh M — Google review
Easily the worst Mexican restaurant I’ve tried in Toronto. We ended up sending back almost everything — the food was that bad. Flavors felt completely random, portions were tiny, and nothing resembled proper Mexican cooking. The birria tacos were cold, paper-thin, with barely any meat, and the consomé was sweet (??). The shrimp taco tasted of cinnamon, the fish taco was equally unpleasant, and the tortillas were straight from a bag — not even warmed. The servers tried to be polite, but you could tell they were frustrated with customers not enjoying the food, when really the issue is what’s coming out of the kitchen. It’s shocking that dishes like this are even allowed to reach tables. At least they didn’t charge us for what we returned, but that’s about the only positive thing I can say. Overall a truly awful experience — I wouldn’t come back under any circumstance.

Service was quick and friendly. They like to push their alcoholic drinks. The tacos were ok. In cod we trust was disappointing. There are better mexican options near by.
Kurt M — Google review
The food was incredibly spicy, you could barely taste the actual flavour, and this is coming from someone who has a high spice tolerance. The guacamole tasted like it was store bought, the margaritas were poorly made, and the chips were stale not worth the night price at all. Save your money

First time at this restaurant! The service was amazingggg and so was our server Baz!! Not only that, but the food was just as amazing :)) Definitely coming back! Also I recommend trying their house made hot sauce, it has a killer flavour with a nice amount of spice :)

Have to say, my wife and I dont get out often and we called to book and mili just made it fun from beginning, I wanted to come when the game was on and she made sure I could enjoy both the atmosphere while catching a quick glimpse at the score through the night. She remembered me which I was very impressed by and made sure we were well taken care of! Will definitely go back again and enjoyed everything from the fist call to book to the whole night of great food and great atmosphere! Cheers team !

Tortería San Cosme is a vibrant eatery in Kensington Market that specializes in Mexican-style sandwiches known as tortas. The most popular dish, the Torta Cubana, is a flavorful combination of sliced adobo pork, ham, and smoked bacon drizzled with chipotle sauce and pickled jalapenos for an added kick.
A little front inside Milagro Cantinas this place serves excellent real Mexican tortas. I has nopales, incredibly tasty.
Sebastian V — Google review
Went to their pop up inside the Milago Mexican restaurant (adjacent to Nobu) Limited seating, 5 stools at a counter facing kitchen, can't get more homier then this, watching staff cook your order right in front of your eyes. Ordered their Cubana sandwich and chorizo quesadillas Sandwich had thick char grilled pork slices in addition to the normal Cubana ingredients, ham, cheese, bacon, tomatoes, jalapenos, pickles, etc. Bread toasted with a nice crunchy exterior. Quesadillas generously filled with cheese and minced chorizo grilled on a flat top. Although I wouldn't consider a Cubana sandwich a Mexican dish, they pulled it off very well. The quesadillas were grilled well although I thought they were too generous with the cheese which overwhelmed the chorizo and flour tortillas. Finally found a Mexican pop up in a Mexican restaurant, I can cross that off my bucket list now, lol.

At Person airport, i ordered the La Mexicana egg sandwich for breakfast, with a side of fries, it all came to ~ $20 cad, which is a bit steep, although not surprisingly for Toronto. But the sandwich was excellent actually, bun was fresh, and omlete egg was cooked perfectly and the Mexican taste was very delicious. I would definetely come back again and maybe try other options.

Great canteen inside of a larger restaurant. Pretty good sandwiches that are so well filled they fall apart when you eat them! The Cubana is very good and well worth it.

We ordered the La Cubana and the Del Chavo. I really enjoyed the porky taste of La Cubana (Roasted adobo pork, ham, smoked bacon, gouda cheese, , tomato, avocado & house jalapeños). Great Quality Food. Great and Friendly Staffs! Over all it was a great visit. It was just a little challenging to find the spot. It is inside MILAGRO.
Dysiree R — Google review
We got two tortas that were from here but through the Milagro cross-sell, interesting that that's how this spot is set up. The sandwiches were great and we were able to take them into TIFF for our movie. We asked for jalapenos on the side, which was a good decision in retrospect because it wasn't as spicy as usual Latin American food can be. We also had a horchata each and that was also great.
Arin G — Google review
This "permanent pop-up" is located within another restaurant called Milagro Cantina. The sign outside fell over so it took me 10 extra minutes to find it. Get some proper signage! Ordered only a conchinita sandwich for lunch and was promised it would be quick. 25 minutes later my sandwich arrives with no apology, leaving me no time to eat it at the counter. Restaurant was not busy. 5 chefs in the kitchen and none of them look busy. They prioritize the meals for the main restaurant it seems. Pork meat was dry and burnt coz I witnessed the cook leave it on the griddle way too long. See pics for proof. Terrible first experience. Be warned.
ZR — Google review
Great experience from start to finish food was fresh and came out fast. The bun was nice I was scared it was gonna be tough and chewy but I was pleasantly surprised. The flavours were beautiful. My only regret was the missing of pickles on the cubana sandwich. The churros were soft and more airy than I typically like but all and all it was a great meal. Definitely grab some house pickles jars and carrots! Limited seating

Fonda Lola Mexican Bistro, located in the Queen West neighborhood, offers a modern twist on traditional Mexican cuisine and margaritas. The cozy ambiance and salvaged decor create a unique dining experience. The restaurant prides itself on blending traditional Mexican recipes with contemporary culinary techniques using ethically and locally-sourced ingredients. Their menu features innovative dishes like Al Pastor tacos and freshly made Ceviche that showcase their dedication to flavor.
This is a wonderful place! The front room can be a little loud if you're sensitive to noise but the back patio is perfect. Small but cosy with a couple of small fire pits in the middle of patio surrounded by simple tables. The food comes out in a timely manner and is full of flavor. There are some larger entrée items but everything is sharable and should be treated like tapas (IMO).

Enjoyed the interior touches to the dining area, lots of seating available and amazing food! I had the baja fish salad bowl and it was delicious! I’m particular when it comes to fish as I’ve encountered instances at other places where there is more breading than actual fish- this is not the case here. Lightly breaded and can really enjoy the flavours of the fish! I also got to try the ceviche my cousin got as well- tasty and fresh! Great service as well.
Karen L — Google review
My visit to Fonda Lola Mexican Bistro for their Summerlicious menu was just as enjoyable as I'd hoped. The standout dish was undoubtedly the shrimp taco – the perfectly crispy outer layer paired with a flavorful sauce elevated the well-seasoned shrimp beautifully. For those who enjoy some heat, the Sayulita Ceviche delivers a nice kick, while the nachos were... well, classic nachos (no surprises there!). The desserts—vanilla ice cream and churros—were decent, though I’d say this place shines brighter in its savory offerings. The real gem? The patio! A stunning Japanese maple tree stretches its branches overhead, casting just the right amount of shade while letting dappled sunlight through—making it both a relaxing spot and a photographer’s dream. Overall, a great experience, and I’ll definitely be back for Taco Tuesday to indulge in more of those incredible shrimp tacos!

My absolute favourite place!! Their shrimp tacos are DIVINE, I get them every time with a Modelo negra it’s chefs kiss. We are always greeted by friendly faces and in the summer the back patio is so cute. We’ve spoken with the owner a few times and he is so personable and seems to love what he does!

Found this Gem while exploring toronto after a epic night at boiler room the previous day ! My Fiancé ,her brother and I were checking out the menu on their front glass, decided to check it out and get approached by the owner, he welcomes us in and unsure we ask for the menu again after which we see options that tickled our brains, mind you we were exhausted from boiler room. we ask to be seated, Guess what there’s a backyard patio tucked away! we picked a table order by far the best authentic chicken tacos and cauliflower tacos and a salad bowl i have had in my life followed by the best Margarita that we had. compliments to the chef and bartender again.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Fonda Lola has the BEST spicy mango margaritas in Toronto. Hands down! We've been coming regularly since before the summer and they never disappoint. What sets this bar apart is its 100% gluten-free menu, making it a popular choice for those with celiac disease or gluten sensitivities. The signature Pocho fries loaded with avocado, beef barbacoa, and jalapenos are highly recommended.
Tasty food and a charming atmosphere! The fish taco, grilled corn, chorizo, and octopus were delicious, though the dessert chorizo was a letdown. Service was friendly but somewhat forgetful. The restaurant is small but cute and cozy. Overall, we enjoyed the experience and would return.

Great for casual date night! We got the $50 pp menu, which was a generous amount of food for the price especially nowadays in Toronto. Everything was really tasty. Highlights were the ceviche, the churro, and lamb(?) tacos (not pictured, we ate it before we could take a pic).
Chloe G — Google review
They don’t advertise that this place is 100% gluten-free, but it is! I am celiac and had a great experience there. The food was incredible - I would definitely recommend the battered fish tacos and tiger shrimp quesadillas, which are pictured below. They both have very unique flavours that are hard to replicate at home. I think the quesadillas were a special menu item, though. Also, you must try the gluten-free churros for dessert!!! In terms of atmosphere, it’s more bar-like, where you order drinks and small plates as you eat. I really like this format and I think it’s a unique experience that celiacs don’t often get. Overall would definitely recommend!
Rebecca S — Google review
Cute little spot! Everything tasted fresh and bright. The ceviche was honestly better than ones I’ve had in Mexico. Tacos come in twos - we tried the fish and carnitas and both hit the right spot. Tuna tostadas were great too. Friendly service, no complaints. We’ll definitely be back.
Aldrin T — Google review
As a celiac, I was almost glutened here. When I asked a server if the beer was gluten free, I was told everything on the menu was. But when my lager arrived, the bottle listed barley. I double checked with another server, who confirmed it wasn’t gluten free, apologized, and kindly brought me a quinoa-based beer instead (which was good, just a little warm). I don’t want to be too harsh. Overall, the food was great, and it’s such a gift to have a spot where I can enjoy a tres leches cake without fear. But this experience is a good reminder to always double check, even in places that seem safe. It also highlights how important it is for all staff to be fully trained on gluten and allergens.

We went to El Pocho Antojitos and everything was absolutely amazing! We ordered the Tacos de Frijoles Negros, Eltos, their refreshing home-made sodas (pineapple and lemon), and finished with two sweet dishes – the churros and a strawberry pastry. Every single item was delicious, but the drinks were especially refreshing and made the whole meal even better. Definitely a place I’d recommend and would love to come back to

Are you tired of social media hyped restaurants in busy downtown? This is our 2nd visit because the restaurant is one of the best local mexican places in such not too busy area. This time, I will not write something about food. You wanna try a really good mexican foods. This is it! They have nice and cute inside dining space under canopy as well. And, if you come with fur friends, they also offer cafe T.O style patio too.

I adore the food at El Pocho, and I think the fact it’s entirely gluten free - yet delicious - is wonderful. However, the past two visits, I was very underwhelmed with the service. Yesterday in particular, my friend and I ordered churros, tacos, and a fried chicken appetizer. Our food took nearly 30-35 minutes to come out! While I understand the kitchen could’ve been busy, the two tables that sat and ordered after us were served first. The waitress came to say it was last call before we got our original order, and was really rude when I said I wasn’t sure because we hadn’t even had our first dishes yet. Sadly great food marred by mediocre service.

I just want to take a moment to appreciate how incredible this location and its staff are! I’ve visited twice now, and both times have been truly impressive. Visit 1: I ordered the Veg Soy Bowl — it was absolutely delicious! But what really touched me was witnessing a beautiful act of kindness. A senior customer walked in who couldn’t afford a meal, and one of the staff members kindly prepared a free bowl for them, saying, “It’s okay, you can pay next time when you can.” That simple gesture spoke volumes about their compassion and their commitment to giving back to the community. Visit 2: The lady at the front greeted me with such a warm smile — she clearly knows her regulars and makes everyone feel welcome. Once again, the food was fantastic — another perfect Veg Soy Bowl and those amazing Extreme Fries! Kudos to the entire team for their kindness, top-notch service, and consistently great food! 💛👏

Yet another amazing experice at Warden Burrito Boyz. We will always support a store that gives back to the impoverished. Yasmin took our order and she also prepared our food. We ordered a naked soy burrito bowl, large soy fries extreme, and bean & cheese nachos...all for under 50 dollars! Each of these meals can easily be eaten as 2 meals (unless you are super hungry...lol) Yasmin was amazingly considerate and informed that the food is not halal as my mom was wearing a scarf. We really appreciated this! During the prep of our food she was communicative and never assumed anything. She also was very nice, pleasant, and had a smile on her face during the entire experience. The food was delicious as always and met the spice level that I appreciate. Even though I don't live in the area, I will always come back to this store in particular because of the employees and the fact they give back to the community (free meal if you can't afford it)

Follow @bredgyeats on IG for more food pictures! Being takeout only, this taco spot's offerings didn't make it back home before being consumed entirely on my ride back home, leaving only the paper container in the end. Each taco is a bit heftier than the former, served on a single corn tortilla and topped with some creamy guac, among the basic accoutrements.

We ordered online for pick up. Pick up was fast. The tacos were tasty with a good amount of filling. The Cheese Quesadilla combo which comes with Tortilla chips was disappointing as the portions were very small and barely any chips. It was not filling. Expected them to be more generous from a so highly rated restaurant.

Stopped by El Nahual Tacos by Luis Hernandez for a quick taco fix and was seriously impressed. The spot has two entrances — the back one is just for takeout, in case you’re wondering. I ordered the taco combo with Al Pastor, Black Tiger Shrimp, and Acapulco Fish . Each one packed with bold, delicious flavors. Their house made tortillas were soft to eat. They serve the hot sauce on the side, and it had just the right kick. To go with it, I had their classic margarita with a spicy tajin rim, super refreshing and the perfect match for the tacos. For dessert, I tried the Carlota, a Mexican-style cheesecake, a balanced blend of sweetness and citrusy note. Everything I had was great. Loved the vibe, the food, ambiance, the whole experience — definitely coming back soon.

This little restaurant is a nice little gem tucked away off Eglinton on Keele street. The restaurant front leaves a lot to be desired but in my experience this meant "Good food!" The interior is was very nice and modern, the staff was very friendly, The only drawback was there is very little seating - there are wall mounted bar tables but nothing else. I went around 7 on a Thursday evening and it was very quiet so I had no complaints. I started off the with a small chips and salsa. The dish came out very quickly and the salsa chips were amazing. The salsa was great itself, but I felt like I should have asked for it to be spicy - I like a little kick. I ordered the Black Tiger Shrimp, Al Pastor, Barbacoa, and the fish tacos. Now, I'm no taco connoisseur but these tacos were fantastic! Both the fish tacos and the barbacoa tacos were stand outs for me. The barbacoa was a fantastic mixture of the salsa and the beef. It was juicy, but not so much that the taco was dripping. I would definitely recommend this place, although it will be hard to get to with transit. You can grab 3 great tacos for $12.50 and I bet with whichever one you choose, you won't be able to go wrong!

La Bartola is a trendy restaurant located in Toronto, Canada, offering a sophisticated take on traditional Mexican cuisine. The vibrant ambiance draws inspiration from the colorful streets of Oaxaca, featuring lush jewel tones and velvet furniture. The menu showcases vegan interpretations of classic Mexican dishes such as moles, hibiscus flower, and green chorizo, with handmade tortillas stealing the spotlight.
The menu is fully plant based with plenty of authentic Mexican dishes. We tried the guacamole, the moles and a few cocktails. We also tried all the items on the dessert menu. The orange tamale dessert was 10/10. Service was great, the waitstaff really knew all the dishes very well. Reservations are highly recommended!

Highly recommend La Bartola! Delicious vegan Mexican tasting menu. The food is unforgettable. Amazing flavours and combinations. The La Chalupa mocktail was so delicious that I had two - it is not too sweet, just right. The dessert portion of the tasting menu was also delicious. The ambiance of the back patio is gorgeous and the service is top tier.

We had a lovely table sitting at the patio, our server Jennifer is amazingly knowledgeable about the food they have. Very attentive and friendly. Cocktails are very lovely and delicious as well. However, the food was a big disappointment. We went with the tasting menu, only liked the corn appetizer and mushroom main. Cantaloupe salad was very hard to chew, the dessert crust has a weird texture very difficult to cut open with a spoon. It’s a $75 set menu plus 20% mandatory tip. But the portion was small. Might still come back for a drink. But not for the food anymore.

It’s all about their delicately designed menu, presentation and priceless taste , flavours and texture. The unique menu leaves you flabbergasted, wondering if these delectable dishes can be so immaculately curated created to bring out the right flavour. They are all vegan and gluten-free to escalate your experience. Their guacamole and chocolate cake are once in a lifetime experience, and I highly recommend it if you are one for a scrumptiously tasting, not too decadently sweet chocolate cake. It’s worth a try, absolutely!!! A place to go to for a special occasion and to celebrate something special. It’s terrific:) leaves you craving for more and longing to visit again soon.

I will start my review by saying that I was recommended this restaurant by friends who are vegetarian but I am not. My wife and I came here for date night. We arrived on time and the service was fantastic. We actually had a spot at the bar booked but they placed us at a table as one was available. The vibe was great and the servers were very helpful. However the food itself I struggled with. We had the tasting menu at $75/ person; my wife had the wine pairing which was a good add as it was well thought through. However, Aside from the lions mane steak and the Mexican corn I fount the food really lacking. The desserts were not good at all and the vegetables/ salad were not enjoyable. The cocktails however were amazing. The cost as well was very high, we had 1 drink to start then I had one cocktail and my wife had the wine pairing and it was over $300 with the tip. Overall I would say worth trying but not somewhere we would come back to again.

Gus Tacos is a small eatery that specializes in traditional tacos and burritos made with housemade tortillas. The menu features a variety of fillings, including seven protein options (ten at the Kensington Market location), as well as vegetarian and vegan choices. The burrito, priced at $11, is described as the perfect combination of protein, beans, cheese, guacamole, lettuce, and chipotle mayo.
Had Gus Tacos for the first time last week and it was sooo good. We ordered the birria and pastor tacos, and birria broth and oh mannn was it so good! I will say I do prefer the birria more than the pastor. The food was served in a timely manner, we thankfully did not have to wait long and the server was kind enough to bring it to us. The ambiance is nice and feels homey the space is fairly small and can get crowded quickly especially on the weekends. I am definitely coming back here for more tacos though

I had an amazing experience at GUS Tacos! The freshness and taste of the food were truly impressive—every taco was packed with flavor and clearly made with quality ingredients. The staff were well-behaved, friendly, and welcoming, creating a positive and relaxed vibe from the moment I walked in. Although the place was a bit packed and on the smaller side, it still felt cozy and just right for enjoying some seriously delicious tacos. A must-try spot if you're into fresh, flavorful food with great service.

Amazing tacos in Kensington! Great price and quick service. We got the battered fish and the braised lamb. They were very fresh and the sauce was great. The service was fast, it took maybe 5 minutes to get the tacos. I will definitely be coming here again next time I’m in Kensington market.

Gus tacos was a really great find. The service was excellent from the moment I arrived, very friendly and attentive. I tried one Birria taco and one Battered fish taco, and both were delicious. The Birria taco had tender, flavorful meat, just wished there was a dipping broth as well– otherwise very satisfying. The battered fish taco was also excellent, with perfectly cooked fish in a light, crispy batter and fresh toppings. Overall, the food was high quality and well-prepared. If you're looking for good tacos, I'd recommend checking out this place.

The tacos were absolutely amazing and unlike any I’ve had in Toronto. While the place isn’t very big for dining in and could be a bit cleaner, the incredible taste more than makes up for it. Definitely worth a try

I tried Gus Tacos for the first time today and I have nothing but amazing things to say. I got the Birra burrito which was so tender and tasty. You can taste the authenticity of the braised meat. The Latino music gives it a great vibe. 100% coming back to try the other menu items.

Loved their beef tacos. Not a very big fan of tacos usually but their tortillas were soft and the meat was juicy. Also tried the fish taco just tender, soft, crispy, hot and succulent pieces of fish with good sauces. If u love your spice u should definitely go for their spicy sauce. What I loved abt them the most was they give unlimited sauce with your tacos. Must try the beef onev

I recently visited Gus Taco and had the Bria taco and tortas. The tortas were absolutely delicious—full of flavor and perfectly satisfying. The taco was tasty as well, though I found it a little on the dry side for my taste. Overall, a great spot with friendly service and a cozy vibe. I’d definitely come back to try more of their menu!

Sazon Latino is a delightful culinary gem that brings the vibrant flavors of Dominican and Salvadoran cuisine to life. This mid-range restaurant offers a classy atmosphere, making it an ideal spot for family gatherings or casual outings with friends. Guests rave about the juicy birria tacos, which are bursting with savory goodness, while the fresh guacamole and crispy chips complement the meal perfectly. The refreshing hibiscus drink adds a light touch to your dining experience.
Absolutely delicious. Very fresh, the meats were seasoned well. Such healthy delicious food and great sized portions.

5 Stars – Flavourful Food & Warm Service! Tried for the first time and I’m so glad I did! The birria tacos were incredibly juicy and full of rich, savory flavor. The quartile with chips was fresh and satisfying, and the hibiscus drink was light, refreshing, and the perfect way to top off the meal. Service was fast and genuinely welcoming, which made the experience even better. Highly recommend if you’re looking for bold Latin flavours and great vibes. Can’t wait to come back!

I’m so disappointed, I placed an order today of sancocho” which is a Dominican stew soup and I found an uncooked chicken leg in my soup. So disgusting. I also ordered plantains and they were soaked in oil. I used to go eat at the restaurant before and the food was good I don’t know what’s going on but definitely is not Dominican food anymore.

I’ve been here quite often and from before the service and quality of food has went down tremendously and does not justify the money being spent. I had to take my husband to McDonald’s after, our plates of food went back to the kitchen, the same way they came out and we did not get offered a discount or a replacement dish or anything like that. We always get the Dominican platter and which came with salad (lettuce and tomato) which is now broccoli beans and cauliflower in salad dressing… the chicharron is always dry and very skimpy pieces, rice was dry and watery beans. A lot of fruit flies everywhere too. My family and I were repeating customers but we Will not be coming back again
Shopplys M — Google review
The atmosphere is great. and the service? one of the waitress was really nice the other one not so much. But as per the food, the fried plantains were delicious, freshly made. But the chichen for the picapollo not fresh at all. My dominican wife left the 4 pieces they put in her plate. She bit one (I'll post a picture she took) and the seasoning was not bad but probably for when it was just cooked. What she got was chicken that was not crunchy (as it should) and kind of stale. Since we waited from 30 to 40 minutes (the place was literally almost empty) we thought our food was being freshly cooked. But clearly it was not.

La Cantina del Pueblo is a moody Mexican taqueria known for its authentic cuisine and tasty drinks. The restaurant offers in-house made tortillas and a vibrant atmosphere adorned with a Mexican mural. It's recommended by locals for its comfortable setting and flavorful dishes, such as the Tacos de Suadero and Enchiladas Verdes. The place is praised for its generous portions, fresh food, fast service, friendly staff, and Latin music that adds to the perfect ambiance.
Great location, great energy and professionalism from the servers. Food was amazing, no complaints and I have been to many Mexican restaurants. Tacos were tasty! Really liked the sauces they gave. I also really liked the music they were playing! I visited for a birthday celebration but hope to come back soon!

Solid spot if you're craving tasty Mexican food and a fantastic Spanish-language playlist. Their carne asada was definitely a highlight – flavorful and cooked just right. The nachos are also a safe bet, a generous portion and satisfyingly good. I also tried their tacos, and they did not disappoint! Each bite was packed with flavor. I have to give them props for their Thursday special: a bucket of beers and a plate of nachos for under $50! That's a deal you can't easily pass up. Now, let's talk about the atmosphere. If you're a fan of baladas en español from legends like Camilo Sesto, Roberto Carlos, Emmanuel, and El Buki, then their playlist is absolutely on fire! It really sets a great vibe. The staff were genuinely nice and friendly, which is always a plus. However, the service when it came to drinks was noticeably slow. Our food arrived promptly, which was great, but we waited a good 20 minutes for a beer. The same thing happened when we ordered shots – a bit of a wait. This was a bit disappointing and something they could definitely improve on. Despite the slow drink service, I'd still give La Cantina Del Pueblo a solid recommendation. The food is good, the music is fantastic, and the bites are solid. If you're not in a huge rush for your drinks, this place is worth checking out for a fun night with good Mexican flavors and a nostalgic soundtrack.

The atmosphere was really nice, and the service was good, which made for an enjoyable dining experience. The frozen drinks were delicious for a nice summers day. But My sister really liked her chicken tacos — they were well-seasoned and had generous portions. I ordered the enchiladas, but they were too soupy, the shell was hard, and the chicken was quite bland. I wouldn’t order that again, but I’d definitely go back to try other items on the menu.
Liana S — Google review
The food was very delicious and the prices were very reasonable. I got the mix and match tacos which tasted amazing and it was definitely more food than can be finished in one meal. The classic margarita was so refreshing. The service was wonderful, water was constantly getting filled and any request we had was fulfilled quickly. Highly recommend.

La Cantina Del Pueblo on College Street is a vibrant Mexican bar that delivers an authentic dining experience from the very first bite. The moment you step inside, the warm atmosphere and colorful décor set the tone for an enjoyable time. Their tacos are nothing short of exceptional — the Carnitas pork is rich, tender, and perfectly seasoned, while the Pastor pork with pineapple offers a beautiful balance of savory and sweet flavors that dance on your palate. What truly elevates the visit, however, is the remarkable hospitality of the manager, Gustavo. His attention to detail is impressive — he personally ensured every dish arrived fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. Gustavo’s friendly demeanor and genuine passion for customer satisfaction make you feel not just welcomed, but valued. It’s rare to encounter someone who blends professionalism with such a personal touch, and he does it effortlessly. La Cantina Del Pueblo is more than just a place to grab delicious tacos; it’s a spot where great food and great people come together. Whether you’re looking for a casual evening with friends or a cozy spot to unwind, Gustavo’s dedication ensures you’ll leave with a smile — and a strong desire to come back.

Birria Catrina is a cozy eatery in Toronto's Kensington Market, specializing in birria tacos and other Mexican comfort food. They proudly bring the authentic flavors of Jalisco's Birria to the city and offer delivery or pick-up through DoorDash. The menu features affordable options like birria tacos, gringas, and quesadillas, all under $10. Customers rave about the generous servings of flavorful birria tacos served with a side of broth and salsas.
these were some seriously delicious birria quesadillas, and the portion was really large and filling for a really great price. what i loved about this compared to other birria dishes i’ve had before was that balance of flavours, and how the meat wasn’t too salty or overpoweringly heavy despite being super juicy and tender, and how it also mingled with the thick, melty cheese. the cilantro also gave it a fresh, fragrant sharpness, and i liked how you could kinda taste the flouriness of the slightly-crispy tortilla. dipped in the steaming consommé, squeezed with a bit of zesty sour lime, and topped with just a bit of the hot sauce to give it a kick, the pizzadilla gives you a delicious (and very messy) eating experience of hearty yet perfectly combined flavours. there’s a dining area (indoor and outdoor) at the back if you want to sit and eat.

Birria Catrina, there’s 3 locations in the GTA. This is located within Kensington Market. There’s seating at the back, but I prefer to grab and go eat outside while discovering more of the neighbourhood. I got 1 Birria Taco with consommé for $7 + taxes or get their promo deal which is 3 Birria Tacos for $15 + taxes. It is beef stew wrapped in 2 soft corn tortillas and serve with lots of cilantro and onions. Eat it right away before the wrap gives way to its weight. It was yummy. There’s other combos available to choose from. Pricing is shown on my pics. The wait is about 20-30 minutes because of the line up of people. They take credit card, cash and maybe debit card.

It's my first time here. It's the best Birria Taco in kensington market 😋. Nice crisp taco with tender beef and cheese. Topped off with onions and cilantro. Can't forget the consume for dipping. You need to eat here! Have a look at my pictures and press the like button!

The tacos were really good. Service was quick and rushed but it was expected as there were a lot of people there. It took about 20 minutes to get our order and unfortunately they didn’t have many choices of drinks. The guy at the register was really nice and made sure to keep a positive attitude regardless of how busy it was.

Great taco but a bit pricey. We got the Birria taco and it was $9.33 including tip which felt like a lot for 1 taco. It was tasty don’t get me wrong but I’ve had cheaper better tasting tacos. The beef stew is very good and a nice touch. I would probably go to other taco places but overall it was a good experience

The 214 Augusta Ave location is the only one that shows up on Google Maps for Kensington. This location has a large banner outside with a QR code that lets you pre-pay and order online. We placed our order at 2:17pm, with an estimated pickup time of 2:32pm. When we arrived at 2:32pm and showed the order confirmation at the counter, the staff told us they don’t do online orders. He asked to see the pickup location and then directed us to another store at 267 Augusta down the street. It was confusing to see such a prominent banner for online orders at a location that doesn’t actually fulfill them. We walked to 267 Augusta, which isn’t even listed on Google Maps. When we showed the staff our order confirmation, the girl at the counter seemed unsure and asked if we had checked with the other location. We explained that we had, and that their staff sent us here. The lack of communication between the two locations was frustrating. She eventually checked her iPad, found my order under my name, and asked for five minutes to prepare it, even though our pickup time had already passed. The store was empty at the time, but our food still took fifteen minutes past our pickup time to be ready. The gringa and tacos themselves were fine, but the confusion between the two locations and the lack of coordination left a bad impression. It may not be an issue in the future now that I know where to go, but as a first-time customer, the process was frustrating. Improving communication and consistency across locations would go a long way in creating a better customer experience.

Came here with the girlies and absolutely loved the food! We shared the guacamole and all ordered tacos as a main. I ordered the guava margarita, which was super delicious and my friend orders a mango margarita double shot, which we definitely tasted. The machines were actually down when we were trying to pay for the bill, but our server offered us a round of tequila shots which was super thoughtful of her. Even though we waited for a while to pay, the hospitality was not missed. Would come back again!

Went to the Don Mills location yesterday for Happy Hour. Started with Strawberry Rhubarb Margarita and Beer. Margarita was okay. Then had their Tabletop Guacamole with Chips. This was excellent and would recommend it. Then had their Crispy Shrimp and again this was delicious. Our final dish was 3 Braised Beef Tacos which were okay, a bit too soggy and very little onion and cilantro and 3 Fish Tacos which were so, so dry and basically a piece of fish and red cabbage with a bit of cut up jalapeños. No sauce, no cilantro and no onion. Fish had very little taste and had to put their mayo sauce on it in order to swallow. Also we ordered the tacos with corn tortillas and ended up with the white tortillas. Service was excellent. Overall I give it a 7 out of 10

It was our first time trying this restaurant and we got our food as takeout. We got the Tres Leches cake, the Quesabirria and the Pescado Tacos along with the Queso Fundido. Loved that we were able to get everything gluten free. The vibe was lovely and the staff that took care of the order and everything were all really good. The food unfortunately left a lot to be desired. It was excessively salty. The seasoning on the fish for the Pescado tacos was so salty it overpowered all the condiments. I was hoping the dessert would redeem the meal but even that was tasted weird. Though the cake texture was excellent. The Fundido settled as a cheesy brick by the time we got home and reheating the dip in the microwave was not a good idea. It did not melt well that way. We will try it in a pot tomorrow. Maybe dining in would have been a better experience and the food just did not travel well. I am always sensitive to the fact that such reviews can be tough on a business owner and my hope is not to dampen the efforts of this establishment. I hope my feedback is actually helpful.

The appetizers were terrific. I wouldn’t pay 42 dollars again for the steak. they should think about maybe making carrot steaks… the carrots were cooked well. As for the tacos….. less than impressed. I had a different experience at the king location so I was very disappointed.

Came here for my birthday we were there for happy hour. Server greeted us asked if we were celebrating anything, told her it was my birthday. She was kind enough to bring me a complimentary shot. We ordered drinks which took a bit of time to come it was fine. We then ordered food tacos were amazing. The server never checked in on once the lovely girl who did our table side guac was lovely and checked in on us. We were celebrating and wanted to drink however the server never checked in we had to order drinks off another server. After those drinks came to us the server never came back until last call which was literally 40mins later was unfortunate for myself and my guests.

El Charro Danforth is a vibrant Mexican eatery located in Toronto, having opened its doors in 2016. With a second location near Broadview Station, it has become a go-to spot for locals and visitors alike. After enjoying a refreshing swim at the nearby Riverdale Pool on a hot summer day, I found myself craving something delicious and headed straight to El Charro.
Went out for dinner with my friends and had an amazing time! As someone who used to work here, I’ll always recommend this place — the food is delicious, the portions are huge, and the prices are great. Service is still excellent, thanks for the shots, Roan!

Sadly I cannot recommend this place at all. It's just not good Mexican food. There are numerous better options when it comes to Mexican food that this place. Unfortunately, we were walking along Danforth and decided to give it a try. Dirty water jar and glasses to start with. We ordered a Ceviche and it's probably the worst ceviche I have ever had, super salty. We also ordered mix tacos. Do not recommend. They are super greasy to start with (the taco tortilla is slightly fried here) and somehow flavorless at the same time. The salsas are nothing special, they don't make the tacos better. Because the taco tortillas are somehow fried, after a minute they start getting hard and greasy at the same time. It's disappointing because the place looks like it has potential but with so many Mexican options out there I'd never recommend or go there again.

Nestled in the vibrant heart of Toronto, Bobbie Sue's Mac + Cheese is a must-visit for anyone craving a delicious twist on a classic comfort food. This unique takeaway spot specializes solely in mac and cheese, offering an array of gourmet options that cater to all tastes, including BBQ pulled pork and vegan selections. For just $9, you can dive into a bowl of cheesy goodness topped with artisanal delights like truffle oil, crispy bacon, and caramelized onions.
The Mac and cheese here definitely lives up to the hype! We tried the classic and absolutely loved it. You can taste the quality of ingredients that is used which is easily comparable to fancy dine in restaurants and a fraction of the cost. The cheese blend is both creamy and flavorful without being too salty or heavy. The crispy top layer of pasta and cheese is one of my favourite parts about the dish. Highly recommend, especially for the price and the big portion size.

We wanted a snack and were pleasantly surprised as we just happened to stumbled across it! The seasoning was amazing and the portions were generous. I would recommend stopping by, both the flavours we got were wonderful!

Pretty lame, for the price you’d expect something a lot better. I got extra cheese and I can’t taste any cheese. Very dry. Would have been so good if there was any sort of cheese in it. If they advertised as just a regular pasta place I’d understand lol but it’s meant to be creamy and cause of that it’s dissatisfying

I purchased the small "Blue Buffalo Chicken Mac". It was quite spicy but had a cool finish. Not overwhelming spicy but a nice balance. It is very filling even for a small, at the price of $19.49. I wasn’t a big fan of the blue cheese but many seem to like it. The service was quite good. I was told that it would take 15 minutes because of the long line during lunch but he finished before and even came to drop it off across the street. Pretty chill staff. They accept credit cards including AMEX. Ultimately, I may return to try a different type of dish.

Gus Tacos is a local mini-chain with multiple locations, including Parkdale and Kensington Market. They offer a variety of saucy and bold tacos, featuring options like birria, carnitas, barbacoa, and grilled mushroom for plant-based eaters. The tacos are generously filled and come with a selection of hot sauces. Customers praise the freshness and deliciousness of the tacos, as well as the generous portion sizes.
Had this place bookmarked for some time now and I finally made my way and it didn’t disappoint. This is a really great local Taco shop that provides a quality product at fair prices. Tacos were about $5 each and they were a pretty decent size in comparison to most places. I tried a few different ones and they were all fresh and fantastic. Their hot sauces were really good too. Service was quick and friendly and they had seats available to eat inside and out. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone as I’ll be sure to return again eventually myself 👌🏼

OK, the food was spectacular fresh great size portions and very flavourful, and the salsa’s/hot sauces were excellent…I can’t say enough about it. The thing that was absolutely terrible was the customer service, staff aren’t friendly and no interaction, please ask customers is this your first time here? Or can I help you? or good afternoon wouldn’t hurt…NO NOTHING!! If it wasn’t for the food that really made an impression this place would’ve got a complete failure because of the customer service. Treat people like crap they won’t come back.

Was in the area last night, and wanted something meaty and this place did not disappoint! 2-3 tacos is all you need for an empty stomach ($5 each) or a single burrito ($12 each). I will probably get the tacos next time as my partner had them and I had the burrito (all great choices), but I found the burrito tasted a little like a healthier Big Mac from McDonald's. I didn't realize it at first, but it is really really good and the guacamole is such a good add! All in all I had a great time, a good amount of seating, and pretty fast with bringing out the food.

A super kind Colombian girl helped me out and gave me a great recommendation, totally nailed it. Can’t wait to check out the other Gustacos around the city. I’m definitely coming back!

Asked for a chicken burrito they made me a pork one and charged me for it. Had to pay again for a chicken one, apparently nothing could be done. Also spent 5 minutes asking for tortillas and told me they didn’t know what they are. Finally settled down on the word chips. **Update:** I appreciate the prompt reply to my review, but unfortunately, after emailing 3 days ago, I haven’t received a response or seen any action taken. I was hoping for the same level of attentiveness shown in the public reply, and I remain hopeful that my concern will be addressed soon.

Mexican restaurant
La Chingada is a vibrant Mexican restaurant located near Trinity Bellwoods Park in Toronto. The casual space is adorned with colorful graffiti-style murals, creating a lively and inviting atmosphere. The menu offers a variety of street food favorites such as tacos, huaraches, and tortas influenced by different regions of Mexico. Additionally, the restaurant features an all-you-can-eat taco special on Thursdays with a selection of 12 different taco options to choose from.
Great little spot with a really nice patio out back. Well spiced and flavoured dishes. Enjoyed the tacos and salsa and chips. Nice clean margarita with fresh ingredients.

This place has so much potential to be amazing. The food is genuinely so great, we loved pretty much everything, the tacos were good (fried chicken and blackened fish), the nachos with guacamole and the esquites were delicious. So why the bad rating? The service was brutal. They seemed to have an attitude from the moment we walked in but we didn’t think much of it but it just stayed like that the entire time. To top it off our waitress went on her break (totally okay!) but didn’t seem to tell anybody to come check on her table. We could literally see her eating at the bar, on her phone, having a drink all the while we were waiting for her or someone to come check up on us so we could get the bill. In total we probably waited 25-30 minutes before we were able to get someone’s attention to come by and give us the bill. We paid, we left, and we were so sad because the service means we’re not coming back despite the food being delicious. (Also the music was way too loud literally felt like I had to shout to talk to the person next to me)

The Wyck Recommendation: La Chingada Rating: 3.4/5 Margaritas from Heaven, Corn from a Can, and the Toronto Man Who Served Us Nothing But Vibes Intro Scene We sat on the patio, sunburned and hopeful, chasing happy hour dreams in the west end. I ordered a margarita and was immediately sucker-punched in a good way. Citrus. Chili. Liquor-heavy. My eyes watered. My mouth saluted. And for a brief, glittering moment, I thought: maybe we found the spot. Then the corn arrived. What Was Ordered Margaritas (happy hour special): Possibly the best I’ve had in the city. Sweet, spicy, tequila-forward with that seared-orange slice and chili rim that slapped. Esquites (Mexican street corn): Looked the part. Tasted like betrayal. Canned corn in a disguise of cotija and spice, served on a husk for Instagram not for flavour. (Planned to order more) but the corn pulled the emergency brake. Service Commentary Toronto men. He served us nothing but vibes. Full 6ix mode. Asked a simple question about spice levels, got hit with the eyebrow of judgment like I’d just offended his ancestors. Every interaction came laced with that specific blend of slang, swagger, and spiritual detachment. He wasn’t rude just vibing so hard that service fell through the cracks. To be fair, the rest of the staff? Pros. Helpful. Fast. This guy was just... 6ix™. Vibe Check The patio was buzzing. Couples, groups, that table of people clearly on edibles. Bright drinks, summer air, good music, and a sense that someone nearby was about to get dumped or proposed to. The energy was peak Dundas West: casually chaotic, two drinks away from a spontaneous DJ set. The Space Itself Inside? Gorgeous. Bold murals, string lights, jaguars and phoenixes battling for wall space. It’s giving fiesta dungeon in the best way. Patio? Basic but breezy, fenced in like a backyard your cool cousin might throw a birthday party in. About the Neighborhood Right between remittance shops and Portuguese bakeries, La Chingada holds its own in Little Portugal’s food scene. Streetcar out front. Trinity Bellwoods a short walk away. If you’re drunk, you’ll think you discovered it. You didn’t. It’s been here. Hits & Misses ✓ Margarita slapped like an ex with unresolved feelings ✓ Interior decor is wild, warm, and weird in all the right ways ✓ Patio makes for a chill summer hang ✓ Happy hour prices are a true blessing ✗ Street corn was straight-up canned. Like, Walmart canned. ✗ One server was peak Toronto Man. Great vibes, no service. ✗ Didn’t order more food because corn killed the mood Final Verdict La Chingada is a tequila-fueled fever dream with flavour highs and hospitality lows. Go for the drinks, stay for the murals, and pray your server isn’t rehearsing for a Drake video. It’s the kind of place that could be legendary... if the kitchen stepped up and the vibes came with a side of service. Rating: 3.4/5 Perfect For Margarita pilgrims with spice tolerance Pre-drinks before pretending you're not going to Bang Bang Ice Cream next door

Amazing cheese quesadillas and guacamole with nachos. They have a 7.99 offer between 1- pm and-7pm where you get some food stuff for 6.99$ It’s totally worth it, the place is clean and washroom are also clean The staff is kind enough to give details of what’s in what. The food is flavourful and amibiance is great but just it’s super super hot with doors closed and no air condition working hard for the staff and the people to eat or dine in

Cute little place. All the margaritas are delicious. Tamarind one was my favorite. Great tacos and vegetarian options. The nachos are great too
Divyangana J — Google review
The tacos here are authentic, phenomenal, mouthwatering and delish. The venue is clean and organised. The staff are patient and friendly. Prices are reasonable as well as portions. There are a lot to try on the menu which I will be back to try. I love the beef tacos and sweet potatoes tacos. I inhaled it and forgot to take pics.

Takeout Restaurant
Sandwich shop
Nestled on Oakwood Avenue, DAM sandwiches has quickly made a name for itself since its late last year debut. Initially starting with just three menu items, this spot has expanded to include an array of mouthwatering subs and buns that sell out in no time. Their Instagram is the best place to catch daily specials like the 36-hour slow-cooked brisket sandwich or the limited-time pan-seared queso fresco cheese delight.
The Dakgalbi Spicy Chicken is really good! Really good. I opted to buy the full sandwich and added cheese so paid a good amount more, lol. It was worth it! I included the corn bread and schweppes Ginger Ale 355ml. The spices in the chicken is a great hit. The bread was the perfect selection for the sandwich it gave it the perfect texture to maintain the sandwich and make all the bites worth it. I really can't wait to order again. I have driven past this place a few times at Rogers and Oakwood near the lights in Toronto wanting to go in but, it would have heavy traffic for me so I had to just look it up and get more information. I have been curious about what their menu is because every now and then I just want a sandwich. The ratings speaks for themselves as it's earned. For street parking it's hard to get on this street but there is Green P across the street but, it isn't a big lot. I ordered by Uber Eats Delivery. I hope you take some time to attend and try one of their sandwiches. Worth it! Included pictures

While we were at Oakwood Espresso, the barista told us we had to try DAM Sandwiches — and wow, we’re so glad we listened! It was less than a two-minute walk, and totally worth the detour. My son and I shared half of a brisket sandwich and half of a fried cheese sandwich. Both were incredibly unique, packed with flavour, and had a fun twist: hickory sticks inside! The textures and smoky crunch took them to a whole new level. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and while the venue is small (just one table inside and a spot to eat on the sidewalk), it totally adds to the charm. This is a must-visit if you’re in the area — the sandwiches were simply amazing. We’d come back in a heartbeat.

We've said it and we'll say it again, EVERYTIME you go to a place that looks like Dam; you're about to have incredible food. This not to knock them down but it's a fact and the owners are very friendly. Small establishment but a lot of love in their food. They have one table and two chairs to dine in, otherwise it's only for take out. Their sandwiches are incredible, one of the best in the city, we ordered both brisket and fried cheese. The brisket was juicy, tender, and melts in your mouth. The fried cheese is a good veggie option and make sure you add hot sauce, it has a good kick to it. The bread they used was soft and easy to chew. We will definitely come back.

Awesome Little Sandwich shop. Would definitely recommend giving this place a try. I had the Cubano and the Brisket Sandwich here. I played with the sweet dog (Mr. Pickles)while we waited and our food was ready very quickly and was very fresh. The Brisket Sandwich was great, it was very saucy, gooey, cheesy, spiced and really flavourful. The bread it really nice and soft and chewy. The only thing I was missing from here was a bit of a crunch, there were little shoestring potatoes but the sauce made them less crunchy. I think adding some extra potato crisps would take it even higher. The Cubano was our favourite. It had a great amount of cheese, the pork and ham were flavourful. There’s a good amount of mustard and pickle flavour coming forward, it just had a very nice balance. Again the bread is soft chewy and delicious. Maybe could’ve had the bread toasted longer to add a better crunch. Overall, highly recommend.
Bayley S — Google review
I tried the brisket sandwich and it was absolutely delicious! The meat was tender, juicy. It had just the right amount of seasoning, and the sauce added a perfect tangy touch without overpowering the brisket. Overall, a satisfying and flavorful bite — I’d definitely order it again!
Tomomi T — Google review
The sandwiches are good, but that corn bread slaps!! I could eat 50 of those things and I didn’t even like corn bread before. Ok, back to the sandwiches, ended up trying their chicken sandwich and let me tell you.. amazing. Who ever decided to put that sandwich together is a superstar. Also picked up the kimchi cucumbers because why not, those were good as well. If you’re looking to sit in, they only have one high top table looking cozy in the corner. Other than that, I’m going to back to try another sandwich and get more corn bread!! Hopeful that pickles is there again, what a cutie patootie he was just sitting outside by the door. Definitely a highlight of my day!! Oh yeah, service was a 10/10 too!

The best hot sandwich I've had this year! If you live in Toronto you owe it to yourself to grab a sandwich. This is the perfect messy, meaty, delicious lunch/dinner. When we finished the Cubano and the Spicy chicken (get cheese on this), our immediate reaction was to go back and buy another. 100% would come back
Robyn Z — Google review
The establishment is quite small but it adds to the atmosphere. You are almost in the kitchen when you walk in and it is a unique experience to stand off to the side waiting for your order and watch how it's made. There is a very small seating area; 1 to 2 people max. So your best option would be to order ahead or order for takeout. In and out in less than 10 minutes with a sandwich I can easily say competes against some of the best in the City. Not being from Toronto means I normally don't get to go back to some of the places I visit. But I will be sure to try and get back to this place because it was outstanding.

Mezcalero, located in the Annex, offers a vibrant atmosphere with an array of cocktails, mezcal, and tequila flights. The restaurant serves crowd-pleasing bites such as zingy esquites, fire-kissed octopus, and house-made tortilla tacos. The patio is praised for its aesthetic appeal and is perfect for enjoying strong drinks during warmer weather. Happy Hour at Mezcalero offers half-priced margaritas and other specials.
We held a private event at Mezcalero and the experience was amazing! Food and cocktails were freshly made and tastes amazing. All the staff were so welcoming and friendly. Environment and atmosphere were wonderful as you can see from the pictures. Big thank you to Nik and Anthony for hosting us and all the great work. Overall highly recommend Mezcalero for private events or just a dine in.

Had a great brunch experience here. Ordered 2 dishes to share. The Venezuelan sampler was great. Had many different meats, rice, salad etc. The meats were really tasty and succulent. The pancakes were the star. So original! They were not overly sweet but so flavourful. I can’t wait to go back for those pancakes! 10/10 recommend

Enjoyed a happy hour cocktail here, followed by a wonderful parade of tapas shared with a friend. The small plates make it easy to sample a wide variety of dishes. Tacos and the mango salad were particularly good, and tres leches was a tasty dessert. Great deck location for watching the world pass by, too.

Came here for brunch on a Sunday. Surprisingly it wasn’t busy and we were able to sit at the patio which was nice. The space is beautiful and has nice decor and vibes. I ordered the Enchiladas Suizas and it was delicious. It had a nice tang to it and was very filling! My friend ordered the meatballs and eggs and unfortunately the portion size was quite small but she said it was yummy!

This perfect Mexican tapas restaurant is centrally located, stunningly decorated, well-staffed, and most importantly, serves delicious, original food. While there are several other Mexican restaurants on this street, none touch Mezcalero. The food is fresh with creative twists on classic dishes that are reasonably priced, beautifully plated, and delectable. Our server, Daniel, provided a great balance between attentive and unobtrusive, and was a welcome guide to the highlights of the menu. We will definitely be back!

Good tacos, small portion, I was there in happy hour so its 2x10, they use blue corn tortillas, the pork belly taco is a little bit greasy but its really tasty, dani the bartender is fun and its nice to talk to her while she is making drinks, good spot to take some tacos and drinks.

We decided to come here on a whim, very glad we did! We got the octopus and seafood paella, food was flavourful and octopus was perfectly cooked! It was a friday night on a sunny summer day, and their patio was the perfect place for a drink and dinner!

I had an amazing experience at Mezcalero! The food was absolutely delicious — the Bacon Wrapped Dates were a standout, perfectly cooked and bursting with flavor. The Guacamole Bar was such a fun and fresh concept, letting you customize your guac just the way you like it. Their cocktails were equally impressive — creative, well-balanced, and beautifully presented. And to top it all off, the Tres Leches cake was heavenly — moist, rich, and the perfect sweet ending. The service was truly exceptional. A special shoutout to Tony, the manager, who was incredibly helpful and made sure everything with our reservation went smoothly. He and the entire staff were attentive, welcoming, and genuinely kind — some of the best service I’ve experienced. The atmosphere was warm and vibrant, with great music that made the evening even more enjoyable. Highly recommend Mezcalero for anyone looking for a flavorful, well-rounded, and memorable dining experience. I’ll definitely be coming back!

If you're on the hunt for an authentic taste of Mexican street food, look no further than Tacos 101. Nestled in Kensington Market, this vibrant taqueria offers a cozy atmosphere where taco enthusiasts can enjoy their meals at stainless steel counters. Recently expanding to a new location near University/St. Patrick, Tacos 101 continues to impress with its fresh and flavorful offerings. The birria tacos are a standout, boasting savory meat paired with rich consomme that leaves you wanting more.
Tacos 101 has opened a new location in the University/St. Patrick area, and it’s just as good as their beloved Kensington Market spot. This place is serving up some seriously fresh, authentic, and flavourful tacos that hit the mark. I tried the birria tacos and was impressed—the meat was perfectly savoury and the consommé was rich and delicious. My friend had the fish tacos and couldn’t stop raving about them. Everything tasted fresh and well-prepared, with a clear focus on quality. Whether you’re already a fan of their other locations or just looking for a new go-to taco spot in the downtown core, this is one I would highly recommend checking out.
