We were looking for an authentic German restaurant in Frankfurt, and we certainly found it here. Our waitress (blonde, I wish I knew her name!) was so accommodating in making recommendations and helping to translate. She recommended the green sauce for our Schnitzel, and it was fantastic. Paired with the Apfelwein, I am still dreaming of this meal. Incredibly affordable, huge portions, made fresh with great outdoor ambiance. 10/10 would recommend!
I don’t read German so, it’s a little tricky when you get there because there are a couple of other restaurants sharing the same outdoor seating space. Remember to look for Dauth -Schneider.

A very German experience! First time tasting applewine (a sour apple cider, you top it up with sparkling water), and the famous "green sauce". Both were very much to my taste! A great combination of meat, salad, potato, sauerkraut, in a typical beer hall setting.
Looooved this place. After a very long flight this was the perfect way to spend a rainy few hours having lunch. The staff were so knowledgeable and wonderful to chat to.
I had the Frankfurter schnitzel, local Pilsner, local apfelwein and was recommended the local mespil drink and they were all fantastic.
The staff recommendations were absolutely en pointe and this has been the highlight of our trip to Frankfurt.

This was my favorite place to eat and have a drink in Frankfurt. The vegan schnitzel was incredible, the atmosphere was perfect, and the whole team was very kind and helpful. I highly recommend to folks visiting.

The flammkuchen tasted pretty nice 👌🏻 we accidentally ordered Eisbein instead of the Schweinshaxe 😂 but surprisingly my boyfriend enjoyed it, so i guess it was a nice try!

Gaststätte Atschel is a traditional 1800s apple wine bar located in Frankfurt, offering a cozy wood-paneled room and a charming garden for dining. I ordered 3 different dishes, and all were great. The sausages were so nice; they smelled really good and had a good, coarse, meaty texture. The pork knuckle had nice, crispy skin with a soft inner texture. The Schnitzel was also lovely.

We had an incredible dinner at Atschel – one of the best local German restaurants we’ve visited. Every dish was absolutely delicious, and served with genuine care.
What made the evening even more special was the warm, attentive service. A big thank you to Isi, our waitress, who went above and beyond to make sure we had a great time – friendly, helpful, and with a great sense of humor.
Highly recommend Atschel to anyone looking for a true taste of Frankfurt with outstanding hospitality. We’ll definitely be coming back!
I can officially say Apfelweinwirtschaft Atschel is home to the best schnitzel I’ve ever had in my life. Yes, I was hungry — but even so, this was on another level. Perfectly cooked, full of flavor, and simply unforgettable.
What impressed me just as much was the incredible staff. From the very kind lady who welcomed me at the door to the amazing guy at the bar with the ponytail, everyone was super, super, super friendly. Even though it was a busy weekend and the restaurant was fully booked, they still managed to find me a table — and what’s really surprising is that it never affected their service or their cheerful mood.
Solid traditional german food with good selection. Obviously great beer. Be prepared to sit with strangers as the restaurant gets super busy and they might sit random people with you. Portions are huge, so do not overorder.
The food here is ok. Not bad, not memorable, just ok. You won't hate it, you won't look forward to eating it again. Too generic, it misses the deep flavour the otherwise simplistic German cuisine needs to stand out. But the service is very, very friendly and timely, the place is typical German, so nice, and the prices are right. Their green sauce was excellent, fresh. Schnitzel was just ok, Handkäs was rather flat. Schweinshaxe was well cooked but missed the taste. Apple Most was pretty good. All in all, not a bad choice, a rather safe one, but this is most of Frankfurt.
We were looking for an authentic German restaurant in Frankfurt to try Schnitzel, Pork Knuckle and Apple beer. We opted for the communal outdoor seating with benches and long tables. It was a great experience sharing the table with other customers. The restaurant was packed on a Sunday early dinner. There was a convenient street parking in front of the restaurant. The food is really delish with great service. We didn't wait too long for our food. Highly recommended.
On a Monday evening with colleagues at Atschel to enjoy traditional German food. As the weather was nice it was super busy and therefore took quite some time until the food arrived. Overall quick service on the drinks and friendly staff. Would definitely return

Perhaps one of the best German dish experiences I have ever had. Everything tasted fantastic. The Greek lady waitress was the kindest I had ever seen. So warm and welcoming. I will come back to this place every time. haxe was so juicy and the gravy was amazingly tasty.

German pork knuckles were a little too heavy on the palate for our family members but was decently tasty and crispy. I had the chicken schnitzel because I don’t really like pork and it was fried nicely and crispy with a good flavour. Restroom was a little hard to get to for the elderly.

If you are looking for an authentic experience with German food, this is the place to be. The food can be quite good, depending on what you choose, but you can also end up with a bad meal. We ordered the veal schnitzel with fried potatoes and green sauce, as well as the pork chop with mashed potatoes. The veal schnitzel and the green sauce were excellent and I can only recommend it. The pork chop had room for improvement as it was quite salty and dry and the mashed potatoes tasted sour. The service was friendly and fast and the ambiance is pleasant. Try to reserve a table in advance and ask to sit outside. The restaurant has lots of capacity, so you can also come spontaneously, but you might need to sit inside.
Excellent German food, lots of different delicious and filling options for any taste, very nice atmosphere, and so much history behind this restaurant. The staff speak fantastic English and are great. Kudos to Nicu on his impeccable English, exemplary customer service skills, and much appreciated recommendations. I look forward to returning.
This was our last meal in Germany after a two week stay. Great choice. We dined on a Friday night - group of 5. Pretty lively inside. Beer was excellent (I had non alcoholic). Brisket of beef was excellent. Not a huge fan of the green sauce but got some of it down. Very authentic and traditional. They have open air dining in part of the restaurant if weather permits. Service was fast and friendly. Everyone enjoyed their meal. Definitely one to put on your list.
I came here to try Frankfurt green sauce and apple wine. The place has that old German look and feels traditional. The food was mostly good, and I enjoyed the flavor of the green sauce. The potatoes were cooked perfectly. However, the eggs were so overcooked that the yolks had turned gray.
The waiters were extremely surly. I was not greeted when I entered. They pointed to a table and I sat. They put the menu in front of me and when they came back to take my order said nothing, just stood next to the table. My food arrived in literally three minutes after I ordered. When I later signaled for the check, the waiter sat the bill on the table and took my cash. He never addressed me once or asked about my meal. I left and said thank you, and it was not returned. I felt unwelcome.
Rude, unfriendly, and incompetent staff. We waited 20 minutes without receiving a menu. When we asked, the waiter rudely replied, ‘Just a minute.’ I eventually had to get the menu myself. Even after 35 minutes, no one came to take our order. After 45 minutes of being ignored, we unfortunately had no choice but to leave.
While researching where to try the most authentic RIPPCHEN which is a traditional Frankfurt specialty of cured pork chop we came across Zum Gemalten Haus, a well-known and much-loved German restaurant. It didn’t disappoint.
When our meals arrived, we were surprised by the generous portions: a hearty pork chop served with a mountain of tangy, flavorful sauerkraut and perfectly creamy mashed potatoes. The combination was comforting, deeply satisfying, and quickly became one of our favorite meals in Frankfurt.
The restaurant itself is full of character, decorated in traditional German style with a warm, welcoming atmosphere that feels genuinely local. We had hoped to sit outside in the smoking section, but the person assigned to that area hadn’t started their shift yet so we stayed in the front outdoor which turned out to be just as pleasant.
Felt like a had a long lost German Grandma that cooked lunch for me. Sausages were just superb 👌. The Blutwurst was heavenly match on a velvet sky... melting on your palette.
And the long happy ending was of course Apfel Strudel himself made to justify your sinful desires with extra towers of fresh cream.

The former machine hall, where steam-powered colossuses used to pump Main water into the towers, now offers traditional and creative German cuisine. The venue's ambiance is described as amazing with a cozy and warm atmosphere.
Great location and customer service! Steaks are served on a searing stone with delicious sides. Menu is clear , concise and states the prices up ahead. Surely one of the best restaurants I tried in Frankfurt!

Great location inside an old factory. All steaks are brought raw and ypu cook them on a hot lava stone. Best thing ia when the stone gets cold, they bring you a warm one. The meat quality was great! I took 450 grams Steak. Strongly recommend it!
Very good food, pretty good prices and great service. Only thing was, I didn't realise you get fries automatically with your steak until after I ordered an extra serving of steamed potatoes. They're listed as "Fritten €0,00" which I obviously misunderstood as "you get fries with your steak for free".
Beautiful venue. I went there for a friend's wedding and everything was like in fairy tales. Food was exquisite and waiters are absolutely friendly. I don’t speak German but that was not a problem, everybody speaks English. It is located next to the main so basically you are in the heart of Frankfurt.
This restaurant is very very cool. It is located into an old factory once used to produce pressured water. The location is really outstanding and very posh. The food is also very good and quite sophisticated. All dishes are well cooked and presented. We had a schnitzel, deer and roast beef. It is all very tasty. The staff is also very friendly and professional. The prices are roughly on the high side but I also think that it is worth the experience. Recommended!

This place is a bit out of the way with no great way to reach by public transport for a restaurant in the city although there is a big parking garage next door. The restaurant itself has a great atmosphere with some tasteful decoration and about enough space to sit 90 persons inside with further space outside in the warm summer days. The attitude of the staff was great, being very friendly and helpful. At this point our night took a turn for the worse. We were in a group of 6; two persons of our group ordered a beer which never came so it had to be ordered again; 3 persons in our group received the wrong order (type of meat ordered) all cooked at the same level although one of them had ordered it different and after same apologies were guilted into accepting the order that had been prepared vs what they ordered. The price/ portion size was that which you expect in a restaurant of a higher quality, unfortunately the quality of the food was lacking. As one small tomato sliced in half and a couple slices of lettuce do not make a salad and the meats were not special and bland. The vegetarian dish was also under seasoned and the pork was average at best. After the meal we ordered coffee and two persons ordered dessert. Coffee came and was finished without sign of the desserts, after asking I was told "if you ordered it, its coming" to which I replied it had been more than 15 minutes since we had all finished our coffee. This was not something that needed to be cooked or prepared to any great extend. 5 minutes after, it arrived. At the end of the night we received a discount on our check without asking to compensate however taking all facts into consideration, it's not a place I can recomend and will mostly likely will not be back for a while to.

Went for the green sauce and the apple wine. Both were worth trying. Shared the schnitzel and a salad. The portion were large and filling. High quality ingredients and prepared perfectly. We went for the first time to taste the famous Green Sauce served with boiled egg and baked potatoes. There is plenty of space to sit either roadside, insite courtyard and inside building spaces. They also serve one of their kind Apple wine which is also worth trying.
Delicious traditional food and amazing apple wine! The prices are very reasonable for the quality. Cozy atmosphere with that classic Frankfurt charm. Definitely worth a visit if you want an authentic local experience.

Extremely disappointing experience at Adolf Wagner — and I rarely leave negative reviews.
I came here expecting traditional German food and local atmosphere, but left completely frustrated.
The chop steak and pork knuckle were absolutely inedible. Both were over-salted to an unbearable degree, especially the pork knuckle — it tasted like pure brine. The food quality was shockingly poor and lacked any real flavor.
Even worse was the rude and pushy service. The staff forced customers to sit together at shared tables, even though there were plenty of empty seats. There was zero regard for guest comfort or personal space.
To top it off, when paying, I was pressured into leaving a tip, despite the horrible experience. Tipping is voluntary, and frankly, the service did not deserve a cent.
Adolf Wagner may be famous among tourists, but it’s nothing more than a salty trap with bad food and worse hospitality. There are many better, more respectful places to experience Frankfurt cuisine.
Avoid this restaurant at all costs.

Lovely. The only issue was too much food ... Which we could not take with us as we were staying in a hotel. It was pre-booked. The service is extremely long. I understand that some restaurants may have an issue with kitchen , but to wait for fish for more than an hour - it is outstandingly long. I was unfortunately disappointed. I used to go to ARISTON regularly between 2017 and 2020, and the quality of the food has dropped significantly. Everything is drenched in what tastes like an intense feta sauce. Our octopus was rubbery, our bifteki was too salty. The saganaki tasted and looked like it was frozen and deep fried. Service was attentive, but nothing exceptional.

Though, I had the sensation that the service we received was a bit fake as the place is populated by many tourists. The staff there have to play the game. Discovered this spot near Old Town with surprisingly reasonable prices—not too expensive at all.
I ordered the liver dumplings, which turned out to be more like meatballs served over sauerkraut. I wasn’t expecting that, but they were incredibly soft and flavorful—I actually really enjoyed them. The sauerkraut was simple but well done.
For the main course, I had the Frankfurt schnitzel (Viennese style), served with green sauce and fried potatoes. The schnitzel was very thin but came in generous portions. The green sauce had a cilantro base—an interesting twist, though I think I would’ve preferred a classic mushroom sauce instead.

The dishes are generous, and the prices are reasonable compared to other restaurants. The average cost per person is €25 to €30, including drinks. Without a doubt, an excellent dining experience. It was busy....book well in advance, we didn't and had to wait for 40 minutes for a space to sit and eventually eat. The food is traditional, it was tasty, it was OK. I am not convinced I would come back, it was an experience, and a one off for visiting Frankfurt, but doesn't need repeating. Very noisy and could not hear outselves, it was hot inside, and this is March, so lots of excess coats to place somewhere!

It was a wonderful experience. The schnitzel was delicious and also the sausage. The fried apple slices with ice-cream and whipped cream was banging. Dulcis in fundo, the medler liquer was something I had never tried before and that I fell in love with. The staff was also very attentive and funny. On our last day in Frankfurt, we decided to enjoy German cuisine one more time. We found a traditional restaurant serving pork knuckles, sausages, and beer—just what I needed to satisfy my craving for meat. The place offered both indoor seating and a small outdoor area.
We ordered the pork knuckle with sauerkraut. The knuckle was well-prepared—crispy on the outside with perfectly cooked, juicy meat. However, it felt like something was missing, as no sauce was provided for dipping. The sauerkraut was a bit disappointing—too bland, lacking the usual tang and moisture.
The sausages were decent, and I particularly preferred the white sausage. Unfortunately, it’s traditionally only served before 11 AM, so we missed out on the full experience.
I really enjoyed the goulash soup, which was rich and flavorful. And of course, no German meal would be complete without a proper German beer—definitely a must-try!
My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our meals here. Even at 6pm on a Saturday, we managed to squeeze right in and get sat at a table. Service was quick, and our food came out shortly. My schnitzel was huge and delicious, as was my wife's pork knuckle. You get your money's worth here!

The potion of famous German Roasted Pork Knuckle is massive, it’s bigger than you imagine. So if it’s just two of you, one Pork Knuckle and one starter is plenty. Our eyes are bigger than the tummy. Because it was our last night in a Frankfurt, and we have decided to ordere one stater to share(very wisely), and one German Roasted Pork Knuckle and one Schnitzel(a little bit greedy), then we have ended up with leaving nearly half of the roasted Pork Knuckle behind. So please think about it carefully before you make your order.
The food is very good, just think about how much you want to order. The staff is very friendly and they speak good English.

Their Schweinshaxe is really really good. I didn't have much expectation at first but wow I was amazed! Literally came back just for it on my last day in Germany because I loved it so much. Food is alright! Nothing super crazy good or bad. Vibes are nice. Spatzle was good, schnitzel was ok. Place was super busy when we arrived and really took about 10 mins to get someone's attention. But staff was nice once you got them though.
The food was delicious! I can recommend Käsekrainer-cheese sausage with sauerkraut and potatoes. And don't forget about the dessert-their Apple pie with ice cream is soo good!

The schnitzel tasted very good. But a simple dish like this, isn't supposed to be expensive like this. The medium, which for context was a schnitzel of 2mm thick, looks massive but doesn't fill you up like you expect and was (i think) €26,50.
This place is a must to visit while you’re in Frankfort. An excellent food, staff and service! The atmosphere was great and Yannick (our waiter) went an extra mile to ensure we have what we need. Sorry for not including pictures of our delicious dinner but it was so good that we dove in right away and kept going until the plates were clean:-)

Well, Schwarz Stern does a good job on decorating their restaurant, plus the location of right in the Romer Square, business is pretty easy.
But the food itself was not impressed, other than White Asparagus is the seasonal vegetable, the boiled beef and eggs both served with green sauce, was kind of boring.

We went to the restaurant as a big group and tried many dishes. The atmosphere was nice, but the prices were quite high and the food wasn’t very good. The price-to-performance ratio was poor, so I wouldn’t recommend it.

Lunch today was very disappointing. What used to be extraordinary dishes has become just ordinary and quite overpriced (€186 without tip for 4 people and no alcohol). The Chef, Menu and kitchen team apparently changed in March. Rumpsteak with Peppercrust (€48) was a so-so steak with a bit of yellow pepper on top. Wildkraüter (wild herbs) Salad with Goat Cheese is now a very plain Spring salad with some chicken €28). The excellent Dorado fish dish has also been replaced (did not try it). A real shame since this was previously an excellent restaurant with exceptional quality. It was always a bit on the pricey side but the quality was there. Sadly, our final visit.
Gerbermühle Biergarten
The Biergarten at Gerbermühle has a great setting, open-air, right by the river, and surrounded by greenery. It's a lovely spot to enjoy a drink at sunset. Unfortunately, that's where the positives end.
The food is disappointing: the Flammkuchen was undercooked and soggy in the middle, and the fries were limp. Prices are surprisingly high considering the poor quality. To top it off, €9 cocktails are served in plastic cups.
Bottom line: great atmosphere, bad food. Come for a drink and the view, then eat somewhere else.

If you’re looking for original Thai food this is THE PLACE and the only place for real authentic food. I’ve tried multiple places but none is as good as this restaurant.
My favorite dish is their Wonton: 10/10 Very crispy, perfectly made and it also has perfect prawn filling.
Spring rolls: 8/10 Perfectly fried, crispy, tasty, but I prefer more filling.
Fried egg noodles: 8/10 It was good, great portion. All their main dishes are large portions so it really fills you up.
Sticky mango rice: 9/10 The best Thai dessert I’ve ever tried. Their mangoes are YUM so sweet. It’s unfortunate you can’t order extra mangoes lol. It’s served with Thai rice.
Really good place, good hospitality and service. They might me just a bit busy sometimes because of the crowd but there’s a good reason for it. Very reasonable prices. Really worth the try.

We had the Tom Yum soup, crispy chicken with red curry, and of course the mango sticky rice — and every dish was spot on.
The Tom Yum had a perfectly balanced spicy and sour broth, with fresh mushrooms and herbs that instantly transported us to Thailand. The crispy chicken curry was generous in portion, super crunchy outside yet juicy inside, served over rich and aromatic red curry. And the mango sticky rice — wow — soft, warm glutinous rice soaked in coconut cream, paired with perfectly ripe mango.
The staff were friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere was relaxed yet stylish.
Highly recommended if you’re craving real Thai food in town — we will definitely come back!
Quite surprise to have such an authentic Thai food in Frankfurt. The pork trotters are so succulent, and the flavor is just so thai. Together with the rice, it is so yammy. Tom Yam has been localized, and it is not too spicy. Same for the glass noodle salad. Fry noodle is very good and the "wokhay" is good. After so many days of non asian food, this restaurant gives us comfort.
The place is quite spacious inside, and the decor feels really authentic. The staff are all Thai, which adds to the vibe.
I ordered my favorite—Pad siew . The flavor was pretty good, though the sauce was a bit thick and on the salty side.
But paired with a Thai Tiger Beer, it worked out well.

This is a really neat area with older style German architecture. It’s an easy walk. You can also see the river, the bridge with the locks at night is beautiful. See it at night and during the day.

Schweinshaxe (Pork Knuckle):

The place is quite noisy and you need to sit on hard benches, possibly sharing table with strangers. But that is how a traditional restaurant like this would be.
Love this restaurant. Found it on google with top reviews and no regrets taking the train ride and walking through the unfamiliar roads to find this great place. The knuckle is probably the best I’ve had in my four days herez Incredibly soft and tender flesh that falls off the bone. Schnitzel was great as well, but the baked potatoes were really out of this world. Highly recommended.

The food was good, unfortunately the service was not so nice. We saw all tables around us were getting complimentary bread, and the server just chose not to give it to us. The place is compact and afterwards you can smell smoke all over your dress. Pizza is really good.

Paninoteca is an Italian restaurant that captivates with its extraordinary atmosphere and professional service. During our visit, we tried seafood both as an appetizer and a main course. The highlight was the spaghetti frutti di mare, which was excellently prepared and incredibly tasty. The entire dining experience at Paninoteca was highly satisfying, thanks to the combination of high-quality dishes, a friendly atmosphere, and courteous service.
Make yourself a favor and order the truffle pasta. Best dish I’ve ever had!

However service was very poor.. the staff on one hand were constantly on go, but as paying guests, my table was ignored number times, felt like we were doing them an disservice being there as customers, hardly cracked a smile. Rude on one occasion when the staff member returned apologised even.
Food wise it’s ok, but if you’ve a flight to catch, hope you have flight cover on missing it…

A frills-free understated neighbourhood cafe that whips up an excellent Pork Knuckle.
I’m Chinese so I naturally like my meat and this did not disappoint. No tourists, mostly locals.
Such a charming place tucked near the Goethe University. The Salads are amazing. Loved the Schnitzel. The Tomato Soup is just superb.
Everything about eating in this restaurant was amazing. The nice gentleman that served us was extremely friendly and made our experience much nicer. The food was delicious, and the salad that accompanied my Schnitzel was the best one I’ve had in a while in restaurants. The prices are also fair for what they serve. One does leave the place immer satt!

Service was slow, and we waited quite a while for our meals, despite the restaurant not being too busy; however, there was a very large group for a year-end function, gathering at the restaurant which may have caused the staff to be overwhelmed. We also found our waiter to be rather unhelpful and uninterested in assisting us, despite us clearly being tourists. The food was mediocre, and rather bland, except for the sauces. The pork knuckle seemed to be boiled, and wasn’t crispy at all. I found the outside restaurant space untidy, with a hosepipe reel blocking the entrance we used.
Everything was perfect – the food, the atmosphere, and the service. Truly a delightful dining experience.

Very good German food. Highly recommended. The service and cooking was a bit slow, spare some 2 hours if you come eat here. Advance booking is highly recommended and please go on time otherwise they will let your table away. I love their foie gras dish (salad dish), it’s something different from what we normally find elsewhere but tasted really good especially with the bread. Meat and sauce of the main dish (especially the deer) was really nice as well.

It is an old rustic restaurant. Reservation is recommended on the weekends or at least go early. I did not really enjoy pork knuckle because it was dry. Homemade fries were good. Craft beer is also good. Service is excellent.

This restaurant has classic German dishes in a wonderfully old world ambiance. The waiter has been there for years and the owners frequently serve the tables.
They cater to needs in a way that non-Europeans are more used to, which means being more attentive, asking if you want another dessert, or asking if things are ok. Additionally you can enjoy a long relaxing meal if one wishes without being rushed. Their German and English are flawless.
The food is very good and changes frequently for the season. The name of the restaurant means “to the stork” and there is a stuffed one inside. I visit the city on business and my German colleagues love the food there.
Be sure to have the Frankfurt Green Sauce if it’s in season on potatoes or the Schnitzel. The soups are excellent as well. The dessert menu is fantastic and they have a full bar.
For a soup, a higher end main dish, and 2 beers I paid 35 Euros including a tip.
This place was a solid choice for our first lunch in Frankfurt. We ate outside. My seat was sadly in the one or two spots where there was no shade, so I had to lean out of the sun whenever the clouds broke. Never mind. The beer was cold & good. Food was good, too. I had a schnitzel with the local grüne Soße. Very tasty. My wife got a salad so we could share both. Very international clientele. A good choice.
With an amazing view of the dome, this restaurant is located in a quiet corner near the river main. Trusting the review we entered and were immediately welcomed by the personnel. The place is just perfect. Inside interior is such a vibe + this restaurant has a cosy terrace. The food was soooo delicious... The meat was really juicy with expanding bouquet of flavors. The craft beer is among the best beers I've tried in my life. The deserts (one was Apfelstrudel, the name for another one can't remember) were also reaaaaally good. The waiter(that was working on 28.08.2022 in the evening, with some facial hair) was such a kind sweetheart, I with waiters everywhere could be like him. Also, waiting time was good - we felt really cared during the whole visit, the waiter was coming just at the right moments and it felt that the amount of time we waited was just right for the dishes we ordered to be cooked. In addition, you can even charge your phone on the terrace, which is just amazing after a long day of sightseeing. Speaking of price, this peace is not the cheapest - we paid 60eur for 2 (main dish, beer, desert), although it seems to be pretty average for the restaurant at that level. Definitely would recommend this place to visit at least once per trip! Big thanks for making our visit so pleasurable:)
A side street away from the busy Römerberg provides a quiet and relaxing atmosphere. There is a great outside area and the inside is boasting with century old fit out. Urig,! To top it all off the food is excellent and very tasty.

Zum Eichkatzerl is a traditional German restaurant with rustic wood-lined interiors and shady garden. Vegan options are available, including a vegan schnitzel which was delicious. The service was ok but the seats were not comfortable. The wine selection needed to improve, but the food and prices were excellent. It was very busy when we visited at 7 pm, and the place was packed.
Everything we tried here was delicious! They have a several vegetarian options and some great vegan options including schnitzel with green sauce and potatoes. Fantastic sauerkraut and apfelwein too!
Seems to be a popular spot with the locals. We had very friendly service as a group of Americans.

Amazing staff, really helpful with gluten free and dairy free options. Very well done traditional food, we had the chicken schnitzel and the potatoes with green sauce and eggs. Came here after the locals recommended it for schnitzel - and we weren't disappointed. The schnitzel was incredible, sausage was good too. The spare ribs were a bit dry. Highly recommend the schnitzel with green sauce (Frankfurt specialty), and mushroom sauce was delicious as well.
Make sure you have a reservation, because this place books up! The food was exceptional, and the staff were friendly. Highly recommend!
My parents and I had a wonderful dinner here. As vegetarians we really appreciated the opportunity to try vegetarian schnitzel, as well as classics like spaetzle. Our waitress, Salem, was super helpful and spoke great English - she helped recommend items to us and answered all our questions. Every dish we received was delicious! We ate every last bit on our plates.

The environment here feels very local and traditional - just what we wanted as visitors to Frankfurt. Although we did see other visitors, we felt like we were in a local place.

Traditional "Frankfurter Küche" with a good variety of dishes. A must is to get a Bembel which is a jug filled with Apple wine to share. I can recommend the Appetizer plate which gives you a great idea of a typical German evening meal!

I did not stay at the hotel but went here for dinner and really enjoyed the meal! Everything was fresh and flavorful. It is mainly classic German dishes on the menu which somehow feels a bit touristy (but nonetheless well done and tasty!). The wait staff were exceptionally nice for German standards (another factor making the restaurant feel like a tourist destination, but in a nice way). There are many dining areas (indoor and outdoor), as well as a super kid-friendly play area. Definitely recommend if you are in this area. Would also be a nice place for a business lunch or semi special occasion.
This place is beautiful! The restaurant had a very cozy/welcoming feel to it. There are Gluten Free options on the menu (although not many), and they take extra precaution with allergies. I had an excellent meal. I haven't had GF ribs in a long time, and the ones here were delicious! Homemade BBQ sauce & fries & coleslaw.

Authentic Frankfurt Fare with Excellent Schnitzel and Apfelwein
Apfelwein Dax is a fantastic choice if you’re after traditional Hessian food with friendly, attentive service. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming—perfect for both locals and visitors looking to enjoy regional cuisine.
The house apple wine was refreshing—dry, slightly tart, and very drinkable. A great match for the rich, savory dishes they serve.
We had the Wiener Schnitzel (veal), and it was outstanding. Lightly breaded, pan-fried to golden perfection, and tender inside—exactly how a proper schnitzel should be. We also enjoyed the white asparagus, which was in season and served simply with melted butter—a classic, elegant pairing that let the quality of the asparagus shine through.
Service was efficient and warm throughout, with staff happy to assist and check in without hovering.
If you’re in Frankfurt and want a taste of local tradition done right, Apfelwein Dax is well worth a visit.

We enjoyed ourselves but tried to be respectful of locals in their neighborhood joint. Do yourself a favor and get the green sauce — with eggs is most traditional. Will be thinking about this experience for a while.
Love this restaurant. The decor is very unique and interesting, very much a hub of Frankfurt Culture so would definitely recommend to tourists like myself. The food was very good, Apfelwein was cheap (€2.50) and also very good. My meal with 2 Apfelweins came to about €20. The waitress who served me was lovely, she spoke English but I wanted to practice my German, she was very patient and friendly and when I didn't understand she switched to English which I appreciated. It was very busy, I went on a Tuesday evening and it was packed. I didn't book beforehand, I had to share a table with some other people but I appreciated that they could fit me in even with it being so busy. Oh and the food came very quickly too! Would definitely recommend.

Christian was spot on with his recommendations and was so accurate and nuanced with his descriptions. Nazar was warm, friendly, and attentive. The restaurant uses fresh ingredients making creative use of what is in season. They also have a really good wine menu. Make sure you stop by when in Frankfurt.

Service is great and very professional, which is rare in Frankfurt. Great wine list! Starters are really good and full in flavor (Tatar is especially good, and overall meet dishes). When it comes to fish, mains are not special, and sometimes disappointing.
A very disappointing experience. We were here for lunch 2 years ago and were super happy with everything. Today I decided to treat my 75 yo mother to a special meal but it was a disaster. A woman sat at a next table to us with a massive dog. My mother had a PTSD after being bitten once but the dog’s owner was very aggressive and called us nasty names. Not a good start to what turned out to be a very expensive dinner. Mom’s fish was undercooked, a health hazard for €35, we asked to re-cook cause she was orthodox but we got a re-heated dish she couldn’t actually eat. The service was passive aggressive. Her fish wasn’t taken off the bill. We left hungry and annoyed.
My starter was tasteless at €19.
"The prices in the menu haven't been updated". This is what we were told when the bill came and the prices on the bill were not those in the menu. No apology, no re-issuing the bill with prices to match the menu.
This left a sour taste after what had been a delicious meal in great surroundings and good service.
But until they can match the prices in the menu to what they actually charge I won't be back.
We ordered bread with lavender-infused fresh cream, seafood ceviche, asparagus tempura, lamb (main course), cannelloni (main course), and white asparagus with sauce hollandaise and mashed potato (main course). They were presented very delicately with lots of creativity. However, in our opinion:
1) The asparagus tempura and seafood ceviche missed flavor as they usually have in their original recipe.
2) Portions were too small for the price.
3) The ambience and service were exceptional.
4) Best of all the dishes was the asparagus with mashed potatoes and sauce hollandaise.
Very nice restaurant in the park, closed to the river. Friendly staffs and great service! Tasty creative food, it’s more like fusion cuisine there and they change the menu from time to time. Portion is not big from German perspective but sufficient and decent.

Thoroughly enjoyed this restaurant, really near to our hotel and we saw that it was packed, so just had to try it. Definitely worthy of a visit, had the schweinshaxe with mashed potatoes and it was great. Crispy exterior and skin, soft on the inside. Mashed potatoes with brown gravy. My only reason for not giving it 5 is that the mashed potatoes had a slightly small portion and could have used more depth, too smooth for my taste.
Decent selection of beers as well. Would go back here for a cozy eat.
Also the server was really nice, he was funny and kept us entertained.

It's 3 mins walk from our hotel but we were bit tired. Ordered takeaway for Frankfurt Platter and Green Sauce with fried potatoes. Portion is large, value for money. I guess the taste was not great, probably because of takeaway. The restaurant is quite cozy so dine in is a better option.
We visited this restaurant on my birthday afternoon and tried varieties of things!! I was really impressed by their menu because they have a lot of things to offer including Indian delicacies.
I tried their French onion soup and it was really mind blowing. For main course we also tried Grüne Soße with Bratkartoffeln and Schnitzel. They all tasted really nice to be honest!!

We were looking for a german food restaurant near the hotel and we gave this a shot and was a great finding. Ordered the onion soup, schnitzel with mushroom sauce and the Schweinshaxe (Roasted Pork Knuckle), they were abundant and delicious (maybe to share).

We called to reserve a lobster and wished for a set menu, which included noodles, and dessert. Overall without drinks, food for two people was 110 euro. The sauce of noodles was nicely creamy and the lobster was handled in a customer-friendly style. Really liked it.
We were asked to sit at a big table to share it with other unknown people, which was kind of strange. I understand that 2 people shouldn’t occupy a big table but this could be actually avoided sine we reserved beforehand. Luckily we asked if we can move to another smaller table and it was accepted.

It was really busy and packed but luckily we had reserved a table and were seated immediately. The spagetti with prawns were the star of the night but the other dishes we felt were just OK. We didn’t realise the grilled squid would also be deep fried in a lot of oil for example. The bread was just passable and the fish was the same.
We were first time in Lobster for dinner and at the end of the evening we were very satisfied. We reserved places and as we wanted to eat lobster we ordered our dish in advance. The atmosphere is very pleasant here. Everybody is polite and friendly.

Popped in here to get out of the rain and warm up with a glass of red wine and discovered I'd made a BIG mistake eating dinner before entering. The smells floating overhead were mouthwatering! The waitress walking by with a perfectly golden Cordon Bleu (?) gave me pause and confirmation...I must eat here!! Eclectic patrons, inviting staff and an atmosphere exuding warmth was icing on the cake. Seriously, I can't wait to taste what comes out of that kitchen....

Absolutely lovely place. We had a full course meal and it was great 😊 The food was delicious and the flavours were perfectly balanced. The wine selection is great and they also have meals that you can order which are not on the menu. Highly recommend! The only issue I had is that the place is a little small but that’s not a big issue.

We come here on special occasions, and it's always worthwhile. I personally like the table layout, with a couple of low separator walls here & there that break up the large space for a more intimate feel. We were the first customers of the evening and were alone in the place for awhile but then it became crowded rather suddenly, and the staff remained cheerfully accommodating, including for a couple of parties that needed to switch tables. We had beef & lamb dishes, which were nicely done and in decent portions, as were our desserts.

Super cozy and lovely Cafe in the old Frankfurt town. They serve the best banana bread in town - period! Make sure you also try the 'pistachio cube'. Cortado was amazing. At times during the day, you may not find place to sit inside because the cafe observes high footfall. Prices are slightly higher than average but again the vibe and ambiance of the place simply compensates for it.

I had the pleasure of dining at Zum Standesämtchen as my very first meal upon arriving in Frankfurt, and I couldn’t have asked for a better way to start my trip. The restaurant is located in an absolutely prime spot — right by the famous Römer square. On my very first day in the old town, my wife and I decided to stop at this restaurant. Let me say, in all my years in the restaurant industry 24 years living in France and 8 years in the U.S. I have never experienced customer service this bad.
From the moment we sat down, the older brunet female server showed impatience don’t listen our order.
I hadn’t even finished my order when she grabbed the menus away, not even letting my wife order properly. When we simply tried to take a picture, she shocked us by yelling across the room, telling us it was prohibited, humiliating us in front of other guests mind you it is not prohibited to take pictures.
What struck me even more: she was smiling giving hugs and kind to German customers, but to us, speaking English, she made sure to be dismissive and rude. At the end, she still expected a big tip, and when she wasn’t happy, she spoke badly about us.
This level of unprofessionalism is unacceptable. A server who treats guests with hostility instead of respect should either be retrained or let go.
The waitresses were rude: 1st woman with blond hair ignored me for long time (the terrace was not full) - I wanted to be seated, the 2nd woman with dark hair didn’t want to seat me on the terrace because I was alone although there were a lot of free tables but after a heavy sigh she found a table for me and treat me bad. The service was terrible, the food was good.

Irish lad at the bar wasn't particularly friendly, made me feel a bit stupid for asking if he spoke English... in a foreign country I feel it's polite to ask somebody first before speaking in English, even if you're in an Irish pub there might be staff that only speak German. Honestly I felt like a bit of an inconvenience ordering my drinks, he seemed fed up judging by the tone he used with me and the fact he didn't smile. However, the pub itself is nice. It is like a classic Irish/English pub, lots of good options to drink, lively atmosphere with outdoor seating and football streaming. Female toilets were clean and nice. Some people complain about the smoking, yes it did smell but it was actually nice to be able to vape indoors, a luxury I haven't seen in the UK, if you don't like it there are other pubs around. There was a German bartender who was very friendly, and I was happy overall with my experience here. Not sure I'd come back though, lots of Irish pubs in the area with friendlier staff. It was ok, if you're in the area and fancy a cigarette with your beer then I recommend it.

The service welcomes you in a friendly manner without appearing artificial, and remains very attentive throughout the whole evening. The food deserves its Michelin star, even if the first two courses could not completely convince me. Güls Backshop ist inzwischen zu unserem Stamm Bäcker geworden. Warum? Ganz einfach, wir kaufen sehr unregelmäßig und spontan Brötchen und sind auch nicht unbedingt Frühaufsteher. Bevor ich am Wochenende aber vor leeren Regalen stehe, kann ich bis 4 Uhr morgens Brötchen vorbestellen und am selben Tag innerhalb der Öffnungszeiten abholen. Das finde ich einfach super. Abgesehen davon hat man über den Webshop bei Whatsapp (fragt nach ihrer Nummer) einen kompletten Überblick über das Sortiment und das sogar mit Fotos. Einfach genial!
Selbstverständlich sind die Brötchen auch unfassbar lecker und daher die perfekte Anlaufstation für uns.
Bei Feiern oder Events können diverse Dinge wie Brötchen oder Kuchen vorbestellt werden und werden dekorativ bereitgestellt. Mich freut es einen Bäcker mit diesem Konzept in der Nähe zu haben :)
