German restaurant
Restaurant
Apfelweinwirtschaft Dauth-Schneider is a traditional tavern in Sachsenhausen, Frankfurt, with over 150 years of history. It's a popular spot for locals and tourists alike, offering a taste of the local apple cider and serving traditional dishes like pork knuckle and schnitzels. The cellar of the tavern still presses apple wine each fall, which is served alongside sausages, fried potatoes, and sauerkraut.
When in Frankfurt, go to Alt-Sachsenhausen which is the only surviving part of historical Frankfurt. There, you will find traditional restaurants that serve amazing local food and cider. Dishes with the Frankfurt green sauce are a must-try here. They serve tasty desserts too.

We were looking for an authentic German restaurant in Frankfurt, and we certainly found it here. Our waitress (blonde, I wish I knew her name!) was so accommodating in making recommendations and helping to translate. She recommended the green sauce for our Schnitzel, and it was fantastic. Paired with the Apfelwein, I am still dreaming of this meal. Incredibly affordable, huge portions, made fresh with great outdoor ambiance. 10/10 would recommend!
Anthony M — Google review
I don’t read German so, it’s a little tricky when you get there because there are a couple of other restaurants sharing the same outdoor seating space. Remember to look for Dauth -Schneider. It’s the yellow sign board . Middle restaurant. Nice German ladies serving there. The food is very authentic German. I can say the best of all the ones I tried. The portion is rather big. Great for sharing to try everything.
Helen H — Google review
A very German experience! First time tasting applewine (a sour apple cider, you top it up with sparkling water), and the famous "green sauce". Both were very much to my taste! A great combination of meat, salad, potato, sauerkraut, in a typical beer hall setting.
Jan G — Google review
Looooved this place. After a very long flight this was the perfect way to spend a rainy few hours having lunch. The staff were so knowledgeable and wonderful to chat to. I had the Frankfurter schnitzel, local Pilsner, local apfelwein and was recommended the local mespil drink and they were all fantastic. The staff recommendations were absolutely en pointe and this has been the highlight of our trip to Frankfurt. I WILL be back 🙂
B M — Google review
Great food, great service, good value. Authentic and lively. Get your green sauce and apfelwein here and fulfil your Frankfurt commitments!

This was my favorite place to eat and have a drink in Frankfurt. The vegan schnitzel was incredible, the atmosphere was perfect, and the whole team was very kind and helpful. I highly recommend to folks visiting.

Just recalled that I never left any review for this shop after a few visit 🫨 The flammkuchen tasted pretty nice 👌🏻 we accidentally ordered Eisbein instead of the Schweinshaxe 😂 but surprisingly my boyfriend enjoyed it, so i guess it was a nice try! And as always, Bratkartoffeln with grüne Soße will never go wrong 🤤 We love the Apfelstrudel too! 🍎 (Not in Picture) I really like their champignon schnitzel! Apfelwein hmmmm not our thing here

German restaurant
Gaststätte Atschel is a traditional 1800s apple wine bar located in Frankfurt, offering a cozy wood-paneled room and a charming garden for dining. While it serves German standards like sausages and apple cider, it also offers more diverse options such as Pork-Medaillons with sliced apples and calvados-cream, grilled spare ribs with sauerkraut, and fresh trout 'Mullerin fried.'
I suggest making a booking before coming here. Luckily, I arrived early, or else I wouldn't have gotten a table. I ordered 3 different dishes, and all were great. The sausages were so nice; they smelled really good and had a good, coarse, meaty texture. The pork knuckle had nice, crispy skin with a soft inner texture. The Schnitzel was also lovely.
Pavin V — Google review
A truly authentic and unforgettable experience! We had an incredible dinner at Atschel – one of the best local German restaurants we’ve visited. Every dish was absolutely delicious, and served with genuine care. What made the evening even more special was the warm, attentive service. A big thank you to Isi, our waitress, who went above and beyond to make sure we had a great time – friendly, helpful, and with a great sense of humor. Highly recommend Atschel to anyone looking for a true taste of Frankfurt with outstanding hospitality. We’ll definitely be coming back!
Maya N — Google review
I can officially say Apfelweinwirtschaft Atschel is home to the best schnitzel I’ve ever had in my life. Yes, I was hungry — but even so, this was on another level. Perfectly cooked, full of flavor, and simply unforgettable. What impressed me just as much was the incredible staff. From the very kind lady who welcomed me at the door to the amazing guy at the bar with the ponytail, everyone was super, super, super friendly. Even though it was a busy weekend and the restaurant was fully booked, they still managed to find me a table — and what’s really surprising is that it never affected their service or their cheerful mood.
Ahmad A — Google review
Solid traditional german food with good selection. Obviously great beer. Be prepared to sit with strangers as the restaurant gets super busy and they might sit random people with you. Portions are huge, so do not overorder.
Artem V — Google review
The food here is ok. Not bad, not memorable, just ok. You won't hate it, you won't look forward to eating it again. Too generic, it misses the deep flavour the otherwise simplistic German cuisine needs to stand out. But the service is very, very friendly and timely, the place is typical German, so nice, and the prices are right. Their green sauce was excellent, fresh. Schnitzel was just ok, Handkäs was rather flat. Schweinshaxe was well cooked but missed the taste. Apple Most was pretty good. All in all, not a bad choice, a rather safe one, but this is most of Frankfurt.
Vangelis K — Google review
We were looking for an authentic German restaurant in Frankfurt to try Schnitzel, Pork Knuckle and Apple beer. We opted for the communal outdoor seating with benches and long tables. It was a great experience sharing the table with other customers. The restaurant was packed on a Sunday early dinner. There was a convenient street parking in front of the restaurant. The food is really delish with great service. We didn't wait too long for our food. Highly recommended.
Carl W — Google review
On a Monday evening with colleagues at Atschel to enjoy traditional German food. As the weather was nice it was super busy and therefore took quite some time until the food arrived. Overall quick service on the drinks and friendly staff. Would definitely return

I came here to try the famous Frankfurt green sauce and frankfurt cheese and I was not disappointed. This sauce tastes so good, I need to learn how to make it myself! I recommend this restaurant!

Restaurant
Paulaner am Dom is a traditional Bavarian tavern located in the heart of Frankfurt, near the cathedral. It offers generous servings of classic Bavarian meat and potato dishes, accompanied by steins of Paulaner beers, including alcohol-free options and flavored wheat beers. The venue features a mix of traditional and modern decor, creating an inviting atmosphere for guests to enjoy their meals. With both indoor and outdoor seating available, visitors can savor their food while taking in views of the cathedral.
Perhaps one of the best German dish experiences I have ever had. Everything tasted fantastic. The Greek lady waitress was the kindest I had ever seen. So warm and welcoming. I will come back to this place every time. haxe was so juicy and the gravy was amazingly tasty.
Arash R — Google review
German pork knuckles were a little too heavy on the palate for our family members but was decently tasty and crispy. I had the chicken schnitzel because I don’t really like pork and it was fried nicely and crispy with a good flavour. Restroom was a little hard to get to for the elderly.
Julius T — Google review
Came at 430pm Sat. Quiet inside. Swift service. Above average taste, good beer. Enjoyable afternoon. Food ordered: Frankfurter Schnitzel (req pork instead of chicken) ; sausage platter; roast pork in beer sauce with potato dumplings.
Boon L — Google review
Authentic German vibes right by the Dom! Paulaner Am Dom is everything you’d hope for in a classic German dining experience — hearty food, cold beer, and a cozy, welcoming atmosphere just steps from the cathedral. The menu is packed with traditional favorites like schnitzels, sausages, and all the comfort food Germany is known for. The portions were generous, the flavors authentic, and the prices surprisingly fair for such a prime location. If you’re looking for a no-frills, genuinely local meal in Frankfurt, this place is a must. It’s perfect for both tourists and anyone wanting to enjoy honest German food with a side of charm. Grab a table on the terrace if the weather’s nice — the view of the Dom makes it even better.
Patrick C — Google review
Loved this place! The food is truly delicious - classic German dishes cooked perfectly, and the beer tastes fresh and full of flavor. Sitting on the terrace with a direct view of the Frankfurt Cathedral feels amazing, especially in the evening. Cozy vibe, friendly service, and a great mix of locals and tourists. Perfect spot to enjoy real Frankfurt atmosphere!

I had the Oktoberfest plate and it was a great mix of everything this land offers. Delicious taste and good price. Didn't wait any time for the table and the food too. The woman at the service was very delightful. Couldn't ask any better

Visited 3pm on a saturday. Got seatings right away. Sat outdoors. Cute biergarten with many seatings in a calm area close to the cathedral. Many flies and bees flying around, especially when food arrived. The service was very effective. The food came very fast too. The food was ok.

Since we were staying at the Paulaner am Dom Hotel, we grabbed a sausage platter and a beer as a quick bite before heading out to explore the city. The portion was generous and the taste was great. The potatoes and sausages were delicious, but I honestly didn’t expect the side salad to be that tasty! The staff was also very friendly, so we left quite satisfied.

German restaurant
Zum Gemalten Haus is a traditional German restaurant with a strong heritage, offering traditional sausages, meats, and apple wine in a wood-paneled 1930s venue adorned with wall murals. The atmosphere is friendly and communicative, exuding a century of tradition. While the service is quick and the food generally satisfactory, it may not offer the best value for money. The waiters can come off as slightly full of themselves, catering to a slightly conservative but tolerant crowd.
The food is authentic German! We had beef tongue, meat loaf and grilled pork. It is delicious it’s moist and very tender ! Turned out we ordered double of it lol The atmosphere is cozy and rustic deco. The waiter (black shirt) is very kind and nice. We had such a great meal and time there!!
Napat S — Google review
If you are looking for an authentic experience with German food, this is the place to be. The food can be quite good, depending on what you choose, but you can also end up with a bad meal. We ordered the veal schnitzel with fried potatoes and green sauce, as well as the pork chop with mashed potatoes. The veal schnitzel and the green sauce were excellent and I can only recommend it. The pork chop had room for improvement as it was quite salty and dry and the mashed potatoes tasted sour. The service was friendly and fast and the ambiance is pleasant. Try to reserve a table in advance and ask to sit outside. The restaurant has lots of capacity, so you can also come spontaneously, but you might need to sit inside.
Edward W — Google review
Excellent German food, lots of different delicious and filling options for any taste, very nice atmosphere, and so much history behind this restaurant. The staff speak fantastic English and are great. Kudos to Nicu on his impeccable English, exemplary customer service skills, and much appreciated recommendations. I look forward to returning.
Yuriy A — Google review
This was our last meal in Germany after a two week stay. Great choice. We dined on a Friday night - group of 5. Pretty lively inside. Beer was excellent (I had non alcoholic). Brisket of beef was excellent. Not a huge fan of the green sauce but got some of it down. Very authentic and traditional. They have open air dining in part of the restaurant if weather permits. Service was fast and friendly. Everyone enjoyed their meal. Definitely one to put on your list.
Jonathan P — Google review
I came here to try Frankfurt green sauce and apple wine. The place has that old German look and feels traditional. The food was mostly good, and I enjoyed the flavor of the green sauce. The potatoes were cooked perfectly. However, the eggs were so overcooked that the yolks had turned gray. The waiters were extremely surly. I was not greeted when I entered. They pointed to a table and I sat. They put the menu in front of me and when they came back to take my order said nothing, just stood next to the table. My food arrived in literally three minutes after I ordered. When I later signaled for the check, the waiter sat the bill on the table and took my cash. He never addressed me once or asked about my meal. I left and said thank you, and it was not returned. I felt unwelcome.
Amara C — Google review
Rude, unfriendly, and incompetent staff. We waited 20 minutes without receiving a menu. When we asked, the waiter rudely replied, ‘Just a minute.’ I eventually had to get the menu myself. Even after 35 minutes, no one came to take our order. After 45 minutes of being ignored, we unfortunately had no choice but to leave.
Younes O — Google review
While researching where to try the most authentic RIPPCHEN which is a traditional Frankfurt specialty of cured pork chop we came across Zum Gemalten Haus, a well-known and much-loved German restaurant. It didn’t disappoint. When our meals arrived, we were surprised by the generous portions: a hearty pork chop served with a mountain of tangy, flavorful sauerkraut and perfectly creamy mashed potatoes. The combination was comforting, deeply satisfying, and quickly became one of our favorite meals in Frankfurt. The restaurant itself is full of character, decorated in traditional German style with a warm, welcoming atmosphere that feels genuinely local. We had hoped to sit outside in the smoking section, but the person assigned to that area hadn’t started their shift yet so we stayed in the front outdoor which turned out to be just as pleasant.
Dame R — Google review
Felt like a had a long lost German Grandma that cooked lunch for me. Sausages were just superb 👌. The Blutwurst was heavenly match on a velvet sky... melting on your palette. And the long happy ending was of course Apfel Strudel himself made to justify your sinful desires with extra towers of fresh cream.

Steak house
Located in the historic and listed pressurised waterworks dating from 1899 at Westhafen, Druckwasserwerk is a unique restaurant housed in a cavernous former factory with exposed brick walls, exuding industrial charm. The former machine hall, where steam-powered colossuses used to pump Main water into the towers, now offers traditional and creative German cuisine. The venue's ambiance is described as amazing with a cozy and warm atmosphere.
Great location and customer service! Steaks are served on a searing stone with delicious sides. Menu is clear , concise and states the prices up ahead. Surely one of the best restaurants I tried in Frankfurt! Highly recommend the Prime New York Strip Steak 400g. Well served by Nick at the restaurant!
Clifford C — Google review
Great location inside an old factory. All steaks are brought raw and ypu cook them on a hot lava stone. Best thing ia when the stone gets cold, they bring you a warm one. The meat quality was great! I took 450 grams Steak. Strongly recommend it!
Drago . — Google review
Very good food, pretty good prices and great service. Only thing was, I didn't realise you get fries automatically with your steak until after I ordered an extra serving of steamed potatoes. They're listed as "Fritten €0,00" which I obviously misunderstood as "you get fries with your steak for free".
Adam W — Google review
Beautiful venue. I went there for a friend's wedding and everything was like in fairy tales. Food was exquisite and waiters are absolutely friendly. I don’t speak German but that was not a problem, everybody speaks English. It is located next to the main so basically you are in the heart of Frankfurt.
Tecuichpo — Google review
This restaurant is very very cool. It is located into an old factory once used to produce pressured water. The location is really outstanding and very posh. The food is also very good and quite sophisticated. All dishes are well cooked and presented. We had a schnitzel, deer and roast beef. It is all very tasty. The staff is also very friendly and professional. The prices are roughly on the high side but I also think that it is worth the experience. Recommended!
Gianmarco C — Google review
It was a chat gpt recommendation and it was just perfect. I had some Korean guests which we impressed and enjoyed the quality of the meat.

Amazing building, huge space inside, but still feels cozy and warm. Loads of tables inside, but you are not bothered with over-sound. I’m vegetarian and choices are okay. Not spectacular. Main was the veggie lasagna, way too salty!!!! We finished the meal before 10pm, they led us talk for a while. When we asked for dessert menu, they told us that kitchen already closed: but nobody warned us!!! At the end the wardrobe was unattended and we had to find our own coats (10.30pm) But ambiance is one of the best in Frankfurt!
M B — Google review
This place is a bit out of the way with no great way to reach by public transport for a restaurant in the city although there is a big parking garage next door. The restaurant itself has a great atmosphere with some tasteful decoration and about enough space to sit 90 persons inside with further space outside in the warm summer days. The attitude of the staff was great, being very friendly and helpful. At this point our night took a turn for the worse. We were in a group of 6; two persons of our group ordered a beer which never came so it had to be ordered again; 3 persons in our group received the wrong order (type of meat ordered) all cooked at the same level although one of them had ordered it different and after same apologies were guilted into accepting the order that had been prepared vs what they ordered. The price/ portion size was that which you expect in a restaurant of a higher quality, unfortunately the quality of the food was lacking. As one small tomato sliced in half and a couple slices of lettuce do not make a salad and the meats were not special and bland. The vegetarian dish was also under seasoned and the pork was average at best. After the meal we ordered coffee and two persons ordered dessert. Coffee came and was finished without sign of the desserts, after asking I was told "if you ordered it, its coming" to which I replied it had been more than 15 minutes since we had all finished our coffee. This was not something that needed to be cooked or prepared to any great extend. 5 minutes after, it arrived. At the end of the night we received a discount on our check without asking to compensate however taking all facts into consideration, it's not a place I can recomend and will mostly likely will not be back for a while to.

Restaurant
Adolf Wagner is a charming tavern that captures the essence of traditional German dining. With its inviting sidewalk tables, it offers a delightful selection of hearty German dishes complemented by local wines, beers, and ciders. This cozy spot is perfect for those looking to immerse themselves in the local culture while enjoying authentic flavors.
Great atmosphere and authentic vibe. The food was outstanding. The schnitzel with Grüne Soße really showcases Frankfurt’s cuisine, and the pork knuckle was absolutely delicious. The wine paired perfectly with the meal. Service could be more polite — not sure if it was the language barrier or just the attitude, but communication wasn’t easy
Ana F — Google review
Went for the green sauce and the apple wine. Both were worth trying. Shared the schnitzel and a salad. The portion were large and filling. High quality ingredients and prepared perfectly. The green sauce is good but glad it is served on the side. The restaurant is huge. Probably should have reservations. We didn’t but still got seating right away on the patio. Definitely worth a try if you’re in Frankfurt.
Michael B — Google review
The place is located at reachable distance from Frankfurt South station. We went for the first time to taste the famous Green Sauce served with boiled egg and baked potatoes. There is plenty of space to sit either roadside, insite courtyard and inside building spaces. They also serve one of their kind Apple wine which is also worth trying.
Saurabh G — Google review
Delicious traditional food and amazing apple wine! The prices are very reasonable for the quality. Cozy atmosphere with that classic Frankfurt charm. Definitely worth a visit if you want an authentic local experience.
Freya N — Google review
Run Run Run!!! Extremely disappointing experience at Adolf Wagner — and I rarely leave negative reviews. I came here expecting traditional German food and local atmosphere, but left completely frustrated. The chop steak and pork knuckle were absolutely inedible. Both were over-salted to an unbearable degree, especially the pork knuckle — it tasted like pure brine. The food quality was shockingly poor and lacked any real flavor. Even worse was the rude and pushy service. The staff forced customers to sit together at shared tables, even though there were plenty of empty seats. There was zero regard for guest comfort or personal space. To top it off, when paying, I was pressured into leaving a tip, despite the horrible experience. Tipping is voluntary, and frankly, the service did not deserve a cent. Adolf Wagner may be famous among tourists, but it’s nothing more than a salty trap with bad food and worse hospitality. There are many better, more respectful places to experience Frankfurt cuisine. Avoid this restaurant at all costs.

Revisit Adolf Wagner (Apfelwein) at Frankfurt after 15 years. The atmosphere is hearty, rustic and communal — long wooden benches, lively chatter, a mix of locals and international visitors. We dined here for three consecutive evenings, enjoy the dinner with the locals, great atmosphere.

Greek restaurant
Ariston Restaurant in Frankfurt, Germany offers a posh dining experience with sidewalk tables and an upscale decor. The Greek menu features expertly prepared dishes like roasted lamb, moussaka, and souvlaki made with fresh ingredients. The restaurant is known for its impressive wine list and typical Greek hospitality. It's a suitable place for business dinners or romantic tete-a-tetes, attracting patrons such as lawyers and judges.
One of the best experiences I have had from a Greek restuarnt (even coming from a Greek). From the moment I walked in, to tge moment I left the whole experience was exceprional. The staff were professional, brilliant and could not do enough. The food, also impeccable. A must stop for anyone visiting Frankfurt!

Lovely. The only issue was too much food ... Which we could not take with us as we were staying in a hotel. I think that the waiter should have told us how much we ordered and a bit of portion control! But both waiters were very friendly. The restaurant nice and food extremely fresh. The location is central too. I did find the salad a bit over priced but the quality was amazing so I should not complain too much. The wine went well with the meal. All in all a good meal... In a quiet calm atmosphere

Very nice service! Super friendly and very welcoming!
Sheeba M — Google review
It was pre-booked. The service is extremely long. I understand that some restaurants may have an issue with kitchen , but to wait for fish for more than an hour - it is outstandingly long. And I was frustrated with quality. The fish was too much oily with no need. Taste is spoiled. Not healthy and not tasty. I am disappointed with my choice of the restaurant and do not recommend it.
Elena B — Google review
I was unfortunately disappointed. I used to go to ARISTON regularly between 2017 and 2020, and the quality of the food has dropped significantly. Everything is drenched in what tastes like an intense feta sauce. Our octopus was rubbery, our bifteki was too salty. The saganaki tasted and looked like it was frozen and deep fried. Service was attentive, but nothing exceptional. I hope it was a fluke, as I used to consider this a true gem. But they didn’t hit the mark tonight.

I liked this place, its atmosphere and interior - all is fine. Their menu is pretty big and you can definitely choose almost what ever you want. Friendly staff, the lady was so "friendly" so I would say intrusive. I didn't check whether they have a wife but definitely no parking. No questions to food, all what I have chosen were great: fresh, tasty and done like in Athens.

It was an amazing overall experience ! The staff is super friendly, helpful and nice- they do their best to make you feel welcomed and we really felt super comfortable. The interior is good it has a nice atmosphere. Their loukoumades are the best ones I have tried so far, really amazing- 5 stars for the loukoumades!! The food in general was ok for a Greek restaurant in Germany. Some dishes like the truffle paste and melitzana were extraordinary tasty!

This restaurant is next to konstablewache, really in the heart of the city center, amazing service, waitress were really nice and helpful. 😁 We had different appetizers to start, and they were really tasty and nice Main dishes wouldn't said are that much, without the appetizers it may wouldn't be enough. Wouldn't say it's cheap and there is lot of meet/fish/chicken options, but definitely worth to try it 😊😄🤩 Nice environment inside the restaurant, cute and pleasant 😊 definitely will come back😊

Zu den 12 Aposteln, located near the Konstablerwache train station in Frankfurt, is a popular brewery and restaurant known for its lively atmosphere and rustic charm. The menu offers a variety of traditional German dishes as well as international cuisines to complement their in-house brewed beers. Visitors can enjoy regional specialties such as schnitzel, pork, and oven-baked veggie gratin paired with their own range of house beers.
The Best Schnitzel I’ve Had in Frankfurt! I’ve tried schnitzel at three different spots in Frankfurt, and this one blows the others out of the water. It’s cash-only, so be prepared to hit the ATM first if you need to- it’s absolutely worth it. Crispy, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. A must-try if you’re in town!
Lizzy R — Google review
Second time here while visiting. The lady server (Eastern European) was so rude, it’s unreal,l. Not sure what was her deal, but she ruined the entire experience. A normal beer house, similar to what you can find in Munich. Won’t be back again, just because that server. Management should take a note

Cosy German restaurant. One Cheerful server servicing many tables. Had their homemade lager and some food as we have been eating lots of our flight to Frankfurt.

great find! Meat perfectly cooked and full of flavor. The staff were super friendly and made the whole experience really enjoyable. Service was quick too, which is always a plus. The place itself has a cozy, rustic vibe, and the downstairs area is just beautiful.

Was just in town for one day and wanted some good German food. While I couldn’t find my favorite schwabian treats this far north, I did randomly find Zu den 12 Aposteln and got a big ol delicious schnitzel. I’m still full 24 hours later!!

Food here was amazing as well as the beer. We had the pork schnitzel and the chicken schnitzel. One of the best we had in Germany but it was cash only so be prepared.

It was a great experience, delicious food, nice medieval style place and good service. Though, I had the sensation that the service we received was a bit fake as the place is populated by many tourists. The staff there have to play the game. Overall, we were very satisfied with everything and we would definitely recommend to anyone that wants to try original regional food.

Excellent food, service, and experience. Schnitzle, sausage, the sauerkraut was EXCELLENT ans the beer was amazing (there is only one kind). Super friendly service and very traditional place. Enjoy!
Russell H — Google review
Discovered this spot near Old Town with surprisingly reasonable prices—not too expensive at all. I ordered the liver dumplings, which turned out to be more like meatballs served over sauerkraut. I wasn’t expecting that, but they were incredibly soft and flavorful—I actually really enjoyed them. The sauerkraut was simple but well done. For the main course, I had the Frankfurt schnitzel (Viennese style), served with green sauce and fried potatoes. The schnitzel was very thin but came in generous portions. The green sauce had a cilantro base—an interesting twist, though I think I would’ve preferred a classic mushroom sauce instead.
Jamie L — Google review
A traditional German restaurant located in central Frankfurt. We tried the Schinzel and the Schinzel salad. Simply spectacular. The dishes are generous, and the prices are reasonable compared to other restaurants. The average cost per person is €25 to €30, including drinks. Without a doubt, an excellent dining experience. We strongly recommend it to Brazilians looking for quality food at a fair price.

It was busy....book well in advance, we didn't and had to wait for 40 minutes for a space to sit and eventually eat. The food is traditional, it was tasty, it was OK. I am not convinced I would come back, it was an experience, and a one off for visiting Frankfurt, but doesn't need repeating. Very noisy and could not hear outselves, it was hot inside, and this is March, so lots of excess coats to place somewhere!

Great food, great traditional atmosphere, kind people.. we loved that place.!! The only negative for us was that they don't accept cards.

It was a wonderful experience. The schnitzel was delicious and also the sausage. The fried apple slices with ice-cream and whipped cream was banging. Dulcis in fundo, the medler liquer was something I had never tried before and that I fell in love with. The staff was also very attentive and funny. The boss, from Serbia, was very friendly and nice with us. I would recommend this place to anyone that wants to try regional Frankfurt food in a casual environment.

Great little very popular spot. Always seemed to have a line. Made reservations because walk in was very busy the night before. Cozy, feels like a home cooked meal. Tried the schnitzel with mushroom sauce. Filled the whole plate. Well worth the price paid.

⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4/5 — Tasty Local Fare That Delivers Had a satisfying meal at Römer Pils Brunnen — the dishes here are actually quite tasty and comforting. The food has that hearty, homemade quality that you’d hope for in a traditional German eatery. Everything we ordered was well-prepared and flavourful, from the meats to the sides. The portions were generous without being overwhelming. Service was efficient, and the atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming, with a nice local vibe. Overall, a solid place to enjoy good food in a casual setting. It may not be fancy, but it definitely doesn’t disappoint. Would gladly return!
Irene L — Google review
On our last day in Frankfurt, we decided to enjoy German cuisine one more time. We found a traditional restaurant serving pork knuckles, sausages, and beer—just what I needed to satisfy my craving for meat. The place offered both indoor seating and a small outdoor area. We ordered the pork knuckle with sauerkraut. The knuckle was well-prepared—crispy on the outside with perfectly cooked, juicy meat. However, it felt like something was missing, as no sauce was provided for dipping. The sauerkraut was a bit disappointing—too bland, lacking the usual tang and moisture. The sausages were decent, and I particularly preferred the white sausage. Unfortunately, it’s traditionally only served before 11 AM, so we missed out on the full experience. I really enjoyed the goulash soup, which was rich and flavorful. And of course, no German meal would be complete without a proper German beer—definitely a must-try!
Andrew G — Google review
My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our meals here. Even at 6pm on a Saturday, we managed to squeeze right in and get sat at a table. Service was quick, and our food came out shortly. My schnitzel was huge and delicious, as was my wife's pork knuckle. You get your money's worth here!
Tony C — Google review
We were very lucky to get a table on early Saturday evening, the restaurant is full, just walked in the right time, and also the help from the lovely staff. Lovely beer. Definitely you have to try German beer. The potion of famous German Roasted Pork Knuckle is massive, it’s bigger than you imagine. So if it’s just two of you, one Pork Knuckle and one starter is plenty. Our eyes are bigger than the tummy. Because it was our last night in a Frankfurt, and we have decided to ordere one stater to share(very wisely), and one German Roasted Pork Knuckle and one Schnitzel(a little bit greedy), then we have ended up with leaving nearly half of the roasted Pork Knuckle behind. So please think about it carefully before you make your order. The food is very good, just think about how much you want to order. The staff is very friendly and they speak good English.
貝瑞克(Markpigpapa) — Google review
The food here looks good, but tastes even better! We enjoyed a tasty variety of dishes. The waitress was friendly and attentive but not intrusive. Everything was prepared perfectly. Portions are large. One plate is really sufficient for 2 people with a moderate appetite.

All the food we ordered was great not salty: schnitzel, schweinshaxe, sausages, meatballs the cabbage that comes with the menu tasted good too It’s better to reserve before going or you could just eat outside like we did

Their Schweinshaxe is really really good. I didn't have much expectation at first but wow I was amazed! Literally came back just for it on my last day in Germany because I loved it so much. The portion was huge and I had to share it with a friend to finish it. Their Schnitzel was simple but good. The staff was friendly too. I still miss their Schweinshaxe dearly lol. I would definitely revisit if I have the chance to travel to Frankfurt again.

It offers a cozy, wood-paneled space where visitors can enjoy classic dishes like Viennese schnitzel and pancakes. The restaurant is known for its generous portions and a wide variety of German and Austrian specialties, with attentive staff providing a truly exciting culinary experience. The best Schnitzel I had in Germany! Austrian schnitzel is a different style but I prefer it so much more. Food is great and it is served pretty quickly. Recommend you book a table if you can though the reservation website doesn’t seem to work! The place is always filled with people. Went there twice during my Germany trip and I have no regrets. Highly recommend Schnitzel, cheese sausage and the cucumber salad!

Nice outdoor seating. I don’t know how it compares to here, but comparing it to home (US) it was amazing. Nice snap in the sausage casing and full of flavor and perfect smoky chunks of bacon in the sauerkraut. Tasty brown bread on the side and a truly yummy Weissbier. Perfect first meal in Germany.

The schnitzel tasted very good. But a simple dish like this, isn't supposed to be expensive like this. The medium, which for context was a schnitzel of 2mm thick, looks massive but doesn't fill you up like you expect and was (i think) €26,50.

Located in the prime spot of Romerberg, the decor is elegant and beautiful, with large indoor and outdoor area, and we can fully enjoy the atmosphere of the square. Well, Schwarz Stern does a good job on decorating their restaurant, plus the location of right in the Romer Square, business is pretty easy. But the food itself was not impressed, other than White Asparagus is the seasonal vegetable, the boiled beef and eggs both served with green sauce, was kind of boring. Come here to have a drink if you need a place for relaxing.

We went to the restaurant as a big group and tried many dishes. The atmosphere was nice, but the prices were quite high and the food wasn’t very good. The price-to-performance ratio was poor, so I wouldn’t recommend it.
Ecem Y — Google review
Only rating the restaurant. Lunch today was very disappointing. What used to be extraordinary dishes has become just ordinary and quite overpriced (€186 without tip for 4 people and no alcohol). The Chef, Menu and kitchen team apparently changed in March. Rumpsteak with Peppercrust (€48) was a so-so steak with a bit of yellow pepper on top. Wildkraüter (wild herbs) Salad with Goat Cheese is now a very plain Spring salad with some chicken €28). The excellent Dorado fish dish has also been replaced (did not try it). A real shame since this was previously an excellent restaurant with exceptional quality. It was always a bit on the pricey side but the quality was there. Sadly, our final visit.

Gerbermühle Biergarten The Biergarten at Gerbermühle has a great setting, open-air, right by the river, and surrounded by greenery. It's a lovely spot to enjoy a drink at sunset. Unfortunately, that's where the positives end. The food is disappointing: the Flammkuchen was undercooked and soggy in the middle, and the fries were limp. Prices are surprisingly high considering the poor quality. To top it off, €9 cocktails are served in plastic cups. Bottom line: great atmosphere, bad food. Come for a drink and the view, then eat somewhere else.

Despite its unassuming exterior, stepping inside feels like entering a vibrant street food market in Thailand. The restaurant boasts an extensive menu that caters to all palates, including numerous vegetarian and vegan options.
If you’re looking for original Thai food this is THE PLACE and the only place for real authentic food. I’ve tried multiple places but none is as good as this restaurant. My favorite dish is their Wonton: 10/10 Very crispy, perfectly made and it also has perfect prawn filling. Spring rolls: 8/10 Perfectly fried, crispy, tasty, but I prefer more filling. Fried egg noodles: 8/10 It was good, great portion. All their main dishes are large portions so it really fills you up. Sticky mango rice: 9/10 The best Thai dessert I’ve ever tried. Their mangoes are YUM so sweet. It’s unfortunate you can’t order extra mangoes lol. It’s served with Thai rice. Really good place, good hospitality and service. They might me just a bit busy sometimes because of the crowd but there’s a good reason for it. Very reasonable prices. Really worth the try.

• Generous portion of food. The prices are a bit high. • Food was fine. We particularly like the Pad Kra Phao with deep fried duck (recommended!) • Read lots of comment on the services. However, we did not experience the same thing. Rather, when we visited there, the service was great! Their staff were very attentive and polite.

Absolutely fantastic Thai food — authentic, flavorful, and beautifully presented! We had the Tom Yum soup, crispy chicken with red curry, and of course the mango sticky rice — and every dish was spot on. The Tom Yum had a perfectly balanced spicy and sour broth, with fresh mushrooms and herbs that instantly transported us to Thailand. The crispy chicken curry was generous in portion, super crunchy outside yet juicy inside, served over rich and aromatic red curry. And the mango sticky rice — wow — soft, warm glutinous rice soaked in coconut cream, paired with perfectly ripe mango. The staff were friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere was relaxed yet stylish. Highly recommended if you’re craving real Thai food in town — we will definitely come back!

Quite surprise to have such an authentic Thai food in Frankfurt. The pork trotters are so succulent, and the flavor is just so thai. Together with the rice, it is so yammy. Tom Yam has been localized, and it is not too spicy. Same for the glass noodle salad. Fry noodle is very good and the "wokhay" is good. After so many days of non asian food, this restaurant gives us comfort.
Avis P — Google review
The place is quite spacious inside, and the decor feels really authentic. The staff are all Thai, which adds to the vibe. I ordered my favorite—Pad siew . The flavor was pretty good, though the sauce was a bit thick and on the salty side. But paired with a Thai Tiger Beer, it worked out well. The portion was really big. The staff weren’t super friendly, but overall, it’s still worth trying.

Restaurant
Apfelwein-Wirtschaft Fichtekränzi is a charming 19th-century pub in Frankfurt that offers a cozy atmosphere and serves the popular spiced apple wine known as Apfelwein. This traditional establishment, which has been in operation since 1849, provides an authentic experience with classic German fare such as frankfurters and schnitzel.
Delicious German food and nice staff. Prices are mid-range I would say. The food portions are enormous. A place perfect for going out in large groups. Expect it to be a bit noisy though. I really enjoyed the visit here.

Schweinshaxe (Pork Knuckle): The pork knuckle was absolutely perfect. It came with a crispy, crackling skin that gave way to tender, juicy meat underneath. The dish was served over a bed of tangy sauerkraut, which balanced the richness of the meat beautifully. The savory gravy added depth and brought all the flavors together. The slice of rye bread on the side was a nice rustic touch. Wiener Schnitzel: Golden, thin, and fried to perfection — the schnitzel was massive and delicious! It had a light, crispy coating and was paired with roasted potatoes and a wedge of lemon for a refreshing twist. The creamy green herb sauce (likely Frankfurt’s famous Grüne Soße) was the highlight — fresh, tangy, and aromatic. Drinks: We enjoyed the meal with traditional Apfelwein (apple wine), served in the iconic Bembel and diamond-patterned glasses. Slightly tart and refreshing, it complemented the rich dishes nicely.

One of my favorite authentic German restaurants in Frankfurt. Very popular so avoid rush hours or make reservation in advance. Delicious Schnitzel big portions and good quality. Excellent service but bit slow as well. Can't wait to visit again during summer and sit outside in the beautiful yard.

Der kellner ist nett & Das Essen is gud! For my first meal in Germany, I had the schnitzel, fried potatoes and green sauce and had an apfelwein & a beer to drink. Apfelwein is not personally my thing but it was still good. Servers are very sweet and the patrons are friendly. Overall, I enjoyed my dining experience! Oh and the green sauce is lit. Don't sleep on it!

Very nice traditional German food and Frankfurt food. We had boiled beef, boiled pork with green sauce, etc. Everything is absolutely gorgeous. The place is quite noisy and you need to sit on hard benches, possibly sharing table with strangers. But that is how a traditional restaurant like this would be.

Love this restaurant. Found it on google with top reviews and no regrets taking the train ride and walking through the unfamiliar roads to find this great place. The knuckle is probably the best I’ve had in my four days herez Incredibly soft and tender flesh that falls off the bone. Schnitzel was great as well, but the baked potatoes were really out of this world. Highly recommended.

Paninoteca No.1 is a long-standing Italian restaurant in the center of Frankfurt, offering a variety of dishes including fish, seafood, pasta, and Italian wines. The quick-service-to-go Paninoteca provides fresh pasta in just five minutes at a reasonable price. It's important to note that there is also a proper Paninoteca Restaurant nearby which shares the same kitchen. The restaurant offers outdoor seating and high chairs for children indoors.
We've chosen this Italian restaurant for our lunch on our trip to Frankfurt. Tomato soup and pasta with vegetables both were so so delicious and fresh!! Staff was very friendly, asked us if we liked our food. I'd definitely recommend this place and go there when I'm again in Frankfurt.
Olga K — Google review
The food was good, unfortunately the service was not so nice. We saw all tables around us were getting complimentary bread, and the server just chose not to give it to us. The place is compact and afterwards you can smell smoke all over your dress. Pizza is really good.

Food was delicious, and we loved all of them but service was terrible! Our food came 40 mins later than the next table, a group of 8 pp when they almost finish theirs. It's ridiculous especially we ordered almost at the same time. We asked twice about our food, the waiter just kept saying it’s coming. Not to mention we also waited almost 10 mins to finally grab someone who served the table near the door when we showed up on time with reservation.
William C — Google review
We waited a long time for the menu. When the waiter asked where we were from and I answered, “We’re from Ukraine,” I heard something unclear and saw disgust on his face. We ordered Cosmopolitan cocktails — the taste was okay, but not great. However, the presentation was nothing like it should be. Disappointing. The food was quite tasty, though.

The Pennette con Tacchino taste good! The turkey breast was very tender!! This restaurant also provides Gluten Free pasta option. The waiter who serve us was so so friendly, very friendly, considerate and dedicated service even without us requesting for extra plate, he saw we might need it and he serve to us. Highly recommended! 🥰

Paninoteca is an Italian restaurant that captivates with its extraordinary atmosphere and professional service. During our visit, we tried seafood both as an appetizer and a main course. The highlight was the spaghetti frutti di mare, which was excellently prepared and incredibly tasty. The entire dining experience at Paninoteca was highly satisfying, thanks to the combination of high-quality dishes, a friendly atmosphere, and courteous service.

So the rating on Google is accurate on food side. Service side, really bad. Had pizza, very nice too. However service was very poor.. the staff on one hand were constantly on go, but as paying guests, my table was ignored number times, felt like we were doing them an disservice being there as customers, hardly cracked a smile. Rude on one occasion when the staff member returned apologised even. Food wise it’s ok, but if you’ve a flight to catch, hope you have flight cover on missing it…

Had our Christmas dinner here - a lovely way to spend the evening. The staff were so great and friendly, fantastic service! We ordered from the Christmas set menu, so three courses each, and each course was fantastic. The restaurant was well decorated as well for Christmas, it was a great experience. Would recommend this restaurant. Thank you!

Everything about eating in this restaurant was amazing. The nice gentleman that served us was extremely friendly and made our experience much nicer. Service was slow, and we waited quite a while for our meals, despite the restaurant not being too busy; however, there was a very large group for a year-end function, gathering at the restaurant which may have caused the staff to be overwhelmed. We also found our waiter to be rather unhelpful and uninterested in assisting us, despite us clearly being tourists. The food was mediocre, and rather bland, except for the sauces. The pork knuckle seemed to be boiled, and wasn’t crispy at all. I found the outside restaurant space untidy, with a hosepipe reel blocking the entrance we used.

From boiled beef dishes to apple strudel, this establishment offers a delightful culinary experience. The attentive service and attention to detail create a welcoming atmosphere where guests can savor their meals at a leisurely pace.
Very good German food. Highly recommended. The service and cooking was a bit slow, spare some 2 hours if you come eat here. Advance booking is highly recommended and please go on time otherwise they will let your table away. I love their foie gras dish (salad dish), it’s something different from what we normally find elsewhere but tasted really good especially with the bread. Meat and sauce of the main dish (especially the deer) was really nice as well.

This restaurant has classic German dishes in a wonderfully old world ambiance. The waiter has been there for years and the owners frequently serve the tables. They cater to needs in a way that non-Europeans are more used to, which means being more attentive, asking if you want another dessert, or asking if things are ok. Additionally you can enjoy a long relaxing meal if one wishes without being rushed. Their German and English are flawless. The food is very good and changes frequently for the season. The name of the restaurant means “to the stork” and there is a stuffed one inside. I visit the city on business and my German colleagues love the food there. Be sure to have the Frankfurt Green Sauce if it’s in season on potatoes or the Schnitzel. The soups are excellent as well. The dessert menu is fantastic and they have a full bar. For a soup, a higher end main dish, and 2 beers I paid 35 Euros including a tip.

This place was a solid choice for our first lunch in Frankfurt. We ate outside. My seat was sadly in the one or two spots where there was no shade, so I had to lean out of the sun whenever the clouds broke. Never mind. The beer was cold & good. Food was good, too. I had a schnitzel with the local grüne Soße. Very tasty. My wife got a salad so we could share both. Very international clientele. A good choice.

With an amazing view of the dome, this restaurant is located in a quiet corner near the river main. Trusting the review we entered and were immediately welcomed by the personnel. The meat was very good and the service quite fast. We did not try the dessert because the portions were big and we were full. The price was fair

The place is just perfect. Inside interior is such a vibe + this restaurant has a cosy terrace. The food was soooo delicious... The meat was really juicy with expanding bouquet of flavors. The craft beer is among the best beers I've tried in my life. The deserts (one was Apfelstrudel, the name for another one can't remember) were also reaaaaally good. The waiter(that was working on 28.08.2022 in the evening, with some facial hair) was such a kind sweetheart, I with waiters everywhere could be like him. Also, waiting time was good - we felt really cared during the whole visit, the waiter was coming just at the right moments and it felt that the amount of time we waited was just right for the dishes we ordered to be cooked. In addition, you can even charge your phone on the terrace, which is just amazing after a long day of sightseeing. Speaking of price, this peace is not the cheapest - we paid 60eur for 2 (main dish, beer, desert), although it seems to be pretty average for the restaurant at that level. Definitely would recommend this place to visit at least once per trip! Big thanks for making our visit so pleasurable:)

Zum Eichkatzerl is a traditional German restaurant with rustic wood-lined interiors and shady garden. Vegan options are available, including a vegan schnitzel which was delicious. The service was ok but the seats were not comfortable. The wine selection needed to improve, but the food and prices were excellent. Everything we tried here was delicious! They have a several vegetarian options and some great vegan options including schnitzel with green sauce and potatoes. Fantastic sauerkraut and apfelwein too! Seems to be a popular spot with the locals. We had very friendly service as a group of Americans. Atmosphere is cozy and comfortable.

My parents and I had a wonderful dinner here. As vegetarians we really appreciated the opportunity to try vegetarian schnitzel, as well as classics like spaetzle. Our waitress, Salem, was super helpful and spoke great English - she helped recommend items to us and answered all our questions. Every dish we received was delicious! We ate every last bit on our plates. We had: - vegan schnitzel - vegetarian spaetzle - vegetarian potato soup - side salads (nice light dressing!) - and sauerkraut The environment here feels very local and traditional - just what we wanted as visitors to Frankfurt. Although we did see other visitors, we felt like we were in a local place. We would gladly eat here again and would highly recommend it to others! Credit card payment is accepted here.

We were advised about this place by the hotel.consierge. This was a find, it's a local Applewine bar. Yes it does sell beer too in bottles. Food was good, freshly made and worth the wait. Portion sizes are generous, but there is a small portion menu too, but it is also a good plateful The place is quaint, with painted murals of local.life on the walls. Be prepared to share a table with strangers, they will become good company. We came back as a group three days later on a Monday evening The place was bouncing. Food was great, atmosphere was superb. Be prepared to wait for a table, it is worth it.

I did not stay at the hotel but went here for dinner and really enjoyed the meal! Everything was fresh and flavorful. It is mainly classic German dishes on the menu which somehow feels a bit touristy (but nonetheless well done and tasty!). The wait staff were exceptionally nice for German standards (another factor making the restaurant feel like a tourist destination, but in a nice way). There are many dining areas (indoor and outdoor), as well as a super kid-friendly play area. Definitely recommend if you are in this area. Would also be a nice place for a business lunch or semi special occasion.

Excellent spot to try Frankfurt specialties. We got there right on midday, so our waiter had more time to explain menu items without too many other customers around. We tried the local cheese, green sauce and apfelwein (not all together - across a few courses). Lovely traditional restaurant and we were made to feel welcome.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Authentic Frankfurt Fare with Excellent Schnitzel and Apfelwein Apfelwein Dax is a fantastic choice if you’re after traditional Hessian food with friendly, attentive service. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming—perfect for both locals and visitors looking to enjoy regional cuisine. The house apple wine was refreshing—dry, slightly tart, and very drinkable. A great match for the rich, savory dishes they serve. We had the Wiener Schnitzel (veal), and it was outstanding. Lightly breaded, pan-fried to golden perfection, and tender inside—exactly how a proper schnitzel should be. We also enjoyed the white asparagus, which was in season and served simply with melted butter—a classic, elegant pairing that let the quality of the asparagus shine through. Service was efficient and warm throughout, with staff happy to assist and check in without hovering. If you’re in Frankfurt and want a taste of local tradition done right, Apfelwein Dax is well worth a visit.

If I could award more stars, I would. Stellar food and the best apfelwein I tried in Frankfurt. The staff was friendly and accommodating even though we stumbled upon the place and had no reservations. The ambiance is top-notch. We enjoyed ourselves but tried to be respectful of locals in their neighborhood joint. Do yourself a favor and get the green sauce — with eggs is most traditional. Love this restaurant. The decor is very unique and interesting, very much a hub of Frankfurt Culture so would definitely recommend to tourists like myself. The food was very good, Apfelwein was cheap (€2.50) and also very good. My meal with 2 Apfelweins came to about €20. The waitress who served me was lovely, she spoke English but I wanted to practice my German, she was very patient and friendly and when I didn't understand she switched to English which I appreciated. It was very busy, I went on a Tuesday evening and it was packed. I didn't book beforehand, I had to share a table with some other people but I appreciated that they could fit me in even with it being so busy. Oh and the food came very quickly too! Would definitely recommend.

Service is great and very professional, which is rare in Frankfurt. Great wine list! Starters are really good and full in flavor (Tatar is especially good, and overall meet dishes). When it comes to fish, mains are not special, and sometimes disappointing.

A very disappointing experience. We were here for lunch 2 years ago and were super happy with everything. Today I decided to treat my 75 yo mother to a special meal but it was a disaster. A woman sat at a next table to us with a massive dog. My mother had a PTSD after being bitten once but the dog’s owner was very aggressive and called us nasty names. Not a good start to what turned out to be a very expensive dinner. Mom’s fish was undercooked, a health hazard for €35, we asked to re-cook cause she was orthodox but we got a re-heated dish she couldn’t actually eat. The service was passive aggressive. Her fish wasn’t taken off the bill. We left hungry and annoyed. My starter was tasteless at €19.

"The prices in the menu haven't been updated". This is what we were told when the bill came and the prices on the bill were not those in the menu. No apology, no re-issuing the bill with prices to match the menu. This left a sour taste after what had been a delicious meal in great surroundings and good service. But until they can match the prices in the menu to what they actually charge I won't be back.

We ordered bread with lavender-infused fresh cream, seafood ceviche, asparagus tempura, lamb (main course), cannelloni (main course), and white asparagus with sauce hollandaise and mashed potato (main course). They were presented very delicately with lots of creativity. However, in our opinion: 1) The asparagus tempura and seafood ceviche missed flavor as they usually have in their original recipe. 2) Portions were too small for the price. 3) The ambience and service were exceptional. 4) Best of all the dishes was the asparagus with mashed potatoes and sauce hollandaise.

Wow what a gem. I was not sure if it would be any good buy wow it was excellent. The pepercorn sauce was delicious just the right amount of peper not to over power the schnitzel. I really did not have high hopes but took the gamble as a lot of people eating outside. I know I will be back to try something else.

Thoroughly enjoyed this restaurant, really near to our hotel and we saw that it was packed, so just had to try it. Definitely worthy of a visit, had the schweinshaxe with mashed potatoes and it was great. Crispy exterior and skin, soft on the inside. Mashed potatoes with brown gravy. My only reason for not giving it 5 is that the mashed potatoes had a slightly small portion and could have used more depth, too smooth for my taste. Decent selection of beers as well. Would go back here for a cozy eat. Also the server was really nice, he was funny and kept us entertained.

I would rate this place even higher if I could truly an exceptional dining experience!

If you are close to the restaurant and you want to try the real traditional German food from the Frankfurt area here could be a good option to do it. The place is easy to find, and is big enough to go with big groups of people. The staff is friendly and they speak different languages including German and English. The food is good in quality and taste, the prices are fair.

It's 3 mins walk from our hotel but we were bit tired. Ordered takeaway for Frankfurt Platter and Green Sauce with fried potatoes. Portion is large, value for money. I guess the taste was not great, probably because of takeaway. The restaurant is quite cozy so dine in is a better option.

We visited this restaurant on my birthday afternoon and tried varieties of things!! I was really impressed by their menu because they have a lot of things to offer including Indian delicacies. I tried their French onion soup and it was really mind blowing. For main course we also tried Grüne Soße with Bratkartoffeln and Schnitzel. They all tasted really nice to be honest!! Special thanks to the staffs for letting us stay and enjoy our drinks even during their lunch break!!

We were looking for a german food restaurant near the hotel and we gave this a shot and was a great finding. Ordered the onion soup, schnitzel with mushroom sauce and the Schweinshaxe (Roasted Pork Knuckle), they were abundant and delicious (maybe to share). Pair it with a local beer and wine, perfect.

Nestled in the heart of Frankfurt am Main, Weinbistrot Lobster is a charming bistro that beautifully marries French and German culinary traditions. With its rustic ambiance, this cozy spot has become a beloved destination for both locals and travelers alike since 1978. The menu showcases an impressive array of seafood dishes, with lobster taking center stage alongside other delights like succulent grilled oyster mushrooms and aromatic lamb Provencale.
We came here especially for the lobster. Lobster needed to be ordered beforehand. We also took the starter noodles with Jakobsmuscheln, and tomato soup; both tasty. Strongly recommended. ** Revisit in June 2023. We called to reserve a lobster and wished for a set menu, which included noodles, and dessert. Overall without drinks, food for two people was 110 euro. The sauce of noodles was nicely creamy and the lobster was handled in a customer-friendly style. Really liked it. We were asked to sit at a big table to share it with other unknown people, which was kind of strange. I understand that 2 people shouldn’t occupy a big table but this could be actually avoided sine we reserved beforehand. Luckily we asked if we can move to another smaller table and it was accepted.
Chou S — Google review
It was really busy and packed but luckily we had reserved a table and were seated immediately. The spagetti with prawns were the star of the night but the other dishes we felt were just OK. We didn’t realise the grilled squid would also be deep fried in a lot of oil for example. The bread was just passable and the fish was the same.

We were first time in Lobster for dinner and at the end of the evening we were very satisfied. We reserved places and as we wanted to eat lobster we ordered our dish in advance. The atmosphere is very pleasant here. Everybody is polite and friendly. They have very good verity of wine and dishes. I absolutely will visit this place again. The food is delicious and fresh. I liked the furnishing, many wooden elements in this hidden place. I recommend you to try this place!

Popped in here to get out of the rain and warm up with a glass of red wine and discovered I'd made a BIG mistake eating dinner before entering. The smells floating overhead were mouthwatering! The waitress walking by with a perfectly golden Cordon Bleu (?) gave me pause and confirmation...I must eat here!! Eclectic patrons, inviting staff and an atmosphere exuding warmth was icing on the cake. Seriously, I can't wait to taste what comes out of that kitchen....

Jasper's is a great and rustic restaurant with a warm ambiance. The food quality could be better, but liked it. The menu has character and the crew are friendly.
Delightful French meal in south Frankfurt. Cozy and chic French style interior with good service. We enjoyed the escargots, fish soup, steak, and boeuf bourguignon (and of course some champagne). A bit pricey but completely worth it.

I recently dined at Jasper’s restaurant, and it was a fantastic experience. The food was absolutely delicious, and the service was exceptional. I was particularly impressed with how the staff prioritized our children’s meals, ensuring they were served first without delay. This thoughtful approach made our visit even more enjoyable. Highly recommend Jasper’s for a wonderful dining experience!

Absolutely lovely place. We had a full course meal and it was great 😊 The food was delicious and the flavours were perfectly balanced. The wine selection is great and they also have meals that you can order which are not on the menu. Highly recommend! The only issue I had is that the place is a little small but that’s not a big issue.

We went there as a family and had one of the best restaurant‘s experiences in Frankfurt so far. Upscale cuisine but at the same time easy to find something for the kids (lamb in our case). Excellent service and very little wait.
Johannes F — Google review
We come here on special occasions, and it's always worthwhile. I personally like the table layout, with a couple of low separator walls here & there that break up the large space for a more intimate feel. We were the first customers of the evening and were alone in the place for awhile but then it became crowded rather suddenly, and the staff remained cheerfully accommodating, including for a couple of parties that needed to switch tables. We had beef & lamb dishes, which were nicely done and in decent portions, as were our desserts.

Hoppenworth & Ploch Altstadt Café is a popular spot located in the Old Town of Frankfurt, amidst various tourist attractions. Despite its touristy location, it offers top-notch coffee, pastries, and panini sandwiches that cater to both tourists and locals. The café has been a prominent figure in Frankfurt's specialty coffee scene for years and is known for its light roast coffees.
Very good coffee and they use a good quality matcha - pastries are delicious and well prepared. It's a pricey location but at least the food and drink are high quality. Sitting on the street or in one of their little booths in the facade is a nice way to take a break and take five :)

Super cozy and lovely Cafe in the old Frankfurt town. They serve the best banana bread in town - period! Make sure you also try the 'pistachio cube'. Cortado was amazing. At times during the day, you may not find place to sit inside because the cafe observes high footfall. Prices are slightly higher than average but again the vibe and ambiance of the place simply compensates for it. Highly recommend for a date or to just visit with family and friends!

Flat white was very good, I enjoyed it very much. Just to my liking as the milk smoothes the coffee and lowers the acidity. My croissant also tasted amazing, so buttery and fluffy 🤩😋 Great location in the heart of Frankfurt. A cozy café where even the birds stop by for a little treat 🐥🥰

The coffee was delicious, and so was the cheesecake. The staff were incredibly friendly. The only downside was that the bees buzzing around the outside seating made it difficult to have a conversation. Still, I highly recommend this cafe.

It’s a regular bakery and café, nothing special. We ordered coffee and croissants everything was average. The total was €18. They only accept card payments. Conveniently located near the cathedral, but service is quite slow and we waited more than 10 minutes just for drinks. You guys should definitely be a bit faster.

Good gastro pub. Decent selction of draft beers. Food wise - tried beef tartare and was not particularly impressed. It was rather bland and putting salty dried fish on a side was definitely not for me. Service - very friendly and welcoming staff!

A fantastic experience from start to finish! The menu features traditional German cuisine, rich and varied — from meat to fish, with vegetarian options as well. But the real highlight is the outstanding service: the entire team is incredibly kind and always smiling, even when the restaurant is packed. You can really feel their dedication and professionalism. They speak fluent English and several other languages, so communication is never a problem. Also, it's a dog-friendly place, with thoughtful touches that show they truly care about the well-being of your furry companion. This place is one of Lana’s favorite spots — she loves it! Zum Standesämtchen is a traditional and cozy restaurant located in a half-timbered building with a spacious terrace on the square. It offers a variety of local staples, including schnitzel and pork knuckle. Despite some mixed reviews about the service, many visitors appreciate the reasonably priced traditional German food and the opportunity to enjoy local rose cider. The central location makes it convenient for both tourists and locals to savor delicious Bavarian cuisine in a charming setting.
Really nice place at the heart of Frankfurt, and the servers are also lovely. We had the chef's special and the herring - both were great. We were not very familiar with German food but everything tasted great and served really fast! Would definitely bring friends over to make them try German food. You can only pay over 20€ with card though, which was unfortunate. Would recommend bringing cash.
Aysu K — Google review
I had the pleasure of dining at Zum Standesämtchen as my very first meal upon arriving in Frankfurt, and I couldn’t have asked for a better way to start my trip. The restaurant is located in an absolutely prime spot — right by the famous Römer square. Sitting on the outdoor terrace, I was able to enjoy my meal while taking in the beautiful view of the historic Römer buildings and the charming old town atmosphere. It was like having a front-row seat to Frankfurt’s most iconic landmark. The service was friendly and efficient, which made the experience even more enjoyable, especially after a long flight. The staff were welcoming and attentive without being intrusive, and they happily recommended some of the restaurant’s signature dishes. Of course, I couldn’t leave without trying their famous pork knuckle, and it did not disappoint. The skin was perfectly crispy while the meat inside remained tender, juicy, and full of rich flavor. It was served with traditional sides that complemented the dish wonderfully, including sauerkraut and hearty mashed potatoes. Every bite was comforting and satisfying — exactly what I needed to warm up and settle in after arriving. Beyond the food itself, what made the experience extra special was the unique ambiance. Whether you’re sitting inside the cozy rustic dining area or outside overlooking Römerberg, Zum Standesämtchen effortlessly combines the feel of traditional German hospitality with postcard-perfect views. It’s also conveniently located, within walking distance from many of Frankfurt’s main attractions, making it an easy stop whether you’re exploring the city center or just arriving like I was. Overall, I highly recommend Zum Standesämtchen to anyone visiting Frankfurt — whether it’s your first meal in the city or just another stop on your culinary tour. The combination of excellent location, delicious food, and warm service creates a truly memorable dining experience. I will definitely be returning on my next visit!

🌧️ Cozy Evening at Zum Standesämtchen – A Warm Welcome in the Heart of Frankfurt We stopped by Zum Standesämtchen on a rainy evening and had a truly wonderful experience. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, offering the perfect escape after exploring Römerberg in the late evening. The **manager—a kind and friendly woman—**made us feel completely at home. She explained the menu with care and offered great suggestions. We had the escargot, which were flavorful and perfectly cooked. The kids sipped warm hot chocolate and indulged in crème brûlée and another rich dessert that was absolutely unforgettable. It was a cozy, delicious way to end the day—and a great way to experience the charm of Frankfurt at night. Verdict: Amazing service, great food, and an authentic, welcoming vibe. We’ll definitely be back next time we’re in town. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This restaurant is in a prime location which is hard to beat with a perfect view of the Römer both from inside and outside. While touristy, the food is solid. I loved my Schnitzel with Green Sauce and fried potatoes. They also have a nice local Riesling. Friendly service.

Schnitzel-Soaked Serenity on Römerberg Square! Wandering Frankfurt's fairy-tale old town after a morning of cathedral climbs and cobblestone meanders, we craved a spot to plop down and soak it all in. Zum Standesamtchen beckoned from the edge of Römerberg Square—like a postcard come to life, with its half-timbered charm framing the bustling plaza and that iconic town hall silhouette. We claimed an outdoor table under the sun-dappled umbrellas, and just like that, lunch became our love letter to the Main. We dove headfirst into classics done right: a golden-crusted schnitzel that shattered into buttery bliss with every bite, paired with creamy camembert that melted into oozy perfection—decadent without the guilt (okay, a little guilt). Washed it down with a frothy German beer that hit crisp and malty, then pivoted to a great red wine, velvety and bold, like it was bottled from the Rhine itself. The views? Unbeatable—people-watching the square's carousel of tourists, street musicians, and locals hustling by, all while the Main River whispered in the distance. Pure, unhurried magic. Our server, Brenda, was the spark that lit the fire—amazing doesn't cover it. With a laugh that echoed the bells and recommendations that felt like insider secrets, she turned our meal into a conversation, refilling glasses with just the right flair. We were so smitten, we circled back later that afternoon for escargot, and oh, what a encore! Tender snails swimming in a molten sea of gouda cheese—rich, garlicky, and so incredible we scraped the ramekin clean, dreaming of seconds. Hands down, our favorite haunt in Frankfurt am Main—a cozy corner where flavors flirt with history, and every visit feels like coming home. If you're square-side, sidle up to Zum Standesamtchen. It's not just lunch; it's legend. Prost to endless returns!

On my very first day in the old town, my wife and I decided to stop at this restaurant. Let me say, in all my years in the restaurant industry 24 years living in France and 8 years in the U.S. I have never experienced customer service this bad. From the moment we sat down, the older brunet female server showed impatience don’t listen our order. I hadn’t even finished my order when she grabbed the menus away, not even letting my wife order properly. When we simply tried to take a picture, she shocked us by yelling across the room, telling us it was prohibited, humiliating us in front of other guests mind you it is not prohibited to take pictures. What struck me even more: she was smiling giving hugs and kind to German customers, but to us, speaking English, she made sure to be dismissive and rude. At the end, she still expected a big tip, and when she wasn’t happy, she spoke badly about us. This level of unprofessionalism is unacceptable. A server who treats guests with hostility instead of respect should either be retrained or let go.
T — Google review
The waitresses were rude: 1st woman with blond hair ignored me for long time (the terrace was not full) - I wanted to be seated, the 2nd woman with dark hair didn’t want to seat me on the terrace because I was alone although there were a lot of free tables but after a heavy sigh she found a table for me and treat me bad. The service was terrible, the food was good.

Great Irish bar! Beautiful inside. It's a smoking bar so you can enjoy that authentic cigarette experience. Good beer selection. Outside seating area.
Jan G — Google review
Irish lad at the bar wasn't particularly friendly, made me feel a bit stupid for asking if he spoke English... in a foreign country I feel it's polite to ask somebody first before speaking in English, even if you're in an Irish pub there might be staff that only speak German. Honestly I felt like a bit of an inconvenience ordering my drinks, he seemed fed up judging by the tone he used with me and the fact he didn't smile. However, the pub itself is nice. It is like a classic Irish/English pub, lots of good options to drink, lively atmosphere with outdoor seating and football streaming. Female toilets were clean and nice. Some people complain about the smoking, yes it did smell but it was actually nice to be able to vape indoors, a luxury I haven't seen in the UK, if you don't like it there are other pubs around. There was a German bartender who was very friendly, and I was happy overall with my experience here. Not sure I'd come back though, lots of Irish pubs in the area with friendlier staff. It was ok, if you're in the area and fancy a cigarette with your beer then I recommend it.

The menu features a mix of familiar breakfast items like pancakes and scrambled eggs as well as intriguing Moroccan dishes. While some visitors found the food to be decent but not exceptional, many praised the friendly service and delightful atmosphere.
We absolutely loved the pancakes with Amlou (almond cream)—they were so delicious and definitely a must-try! The Aladdin was also amazing, and the chocolate cake was incredibly delicious. The chicken pastilla was good, but it didn’t quite live up to the ones we've had in Morocco (you might actually enjoy it, if you’re trying it for the first time and you like the combination of sweetness with chicken)😋 I also tried the omelette with potatoes and onions, but I didn’t really enjoy it.

The restaurant presents itself with a very nice atmosphere with soft background music and lighting. The service welcomes you in a friendly manner without appearing artificial, and remains very attentive throughout the whole evening. The food deserves its Michelin star, even if the first two courses could not completely convince me. But the remaining three were excellent, with lovely flavors and textures and of course the best ingredients. The prices are absolutely reasonable for what was offered.

Visited Frankfurt for the first time and googled this restaurant. They only offered outdoor seating for lunch which was perfect match with the sunny day. It was a full house except for a couple of tables without sun umbrellas. The business lunch menu was pretty simple and reasonably priced. The melon soup really pleasantly surprised me. I will surely come when I visit the city again.

In general, wonderful evening with amazing food. The service was also of quality. Will definitely come back! However, just two issues we had on the night: one of the servers forgot my cocktail and I had to reorder; and it was our 3rd anniversary and we did mention it when asked on the booking site, but nothing special was done. I think because the information was requested, a simple dessert plate with some writings would have made a great experience!

Nestled conveniently at the end of platform 24, Das Wirtshaus Hauptbahnhof serves as a welcoming retreat amidst the hustle and bustle of Frankfurt's main station. While it may not boast the coziest atmosphere—echoing sounds and somewhat annoying music—the restaurant compensates with attentive service and hearty portions. Diners can indulge in traditional dishes like potato soup with sausages or Wiener schnitzel paired with roasted potatoes, all at reasonable prices.
Very good welcome from Diana, a lovely lady whose English is great, food hot and quickly produced (fresh) . Non intrusive music , cosy atmosphere, highly recommended.

I recommend coming here if you have limited time and have to stay in the main station, but if you have more time, leave all the addicts and beggars behind and go somewhere in the city. The restaurant itself also does not have a great atmosphere, it’s very echoey, the music is annoying, but the service and the food were pretty good. We had the potatoe soup with sausages (8.90€) and the Wiener schnitzel with roasted potatoes (15,80€). There are lots of food options in the train station (like a lot) but I went to this one because it seemed to have the most authentic German food there (saying that as a German). Overall it’s good but not great!

Very comfortable and well maintained bar at the end of platform 24. Considering the dodgy environment in and around the station this is am oasis. Friendly service. Comfortable seating. Large screens to watch the game. Reasonably priced beer. I enjoyed the local Binding pils and the Schofferhoffer wheat beer. Both very good. Much better than a lot of bars in the vicinity.

Convenient site in the train station. Quiet atmosphere, which is surprising, considering its location. Waitress was friendly and prompt, and did not rush me to finish my meal.

The food was tasty and had big portions. The waitress was really attentive and professional. Highly recommended!

Never enter at this place, or enter if you want to get almost beaten and attacked by a hostile Bartender. I usually used to go there almost every day for asking an omelet to go. And suddenly because I was late to ask for it, the Bartender thrown me out of the place. I almost had to call the cops. This place has lost at least 350 euros per month, because I used to make this order almost daily. And all because of a very 100% German "clever" bartender, that almost attacked me because I am not 100% German blood.

Accidentally saved my day. Had to change trains in the middle of a long journey (7 hours behind me, 4 to go) and went in for lunch; got a big plate of Spätzle with a large salad on the side. The 4 remaining hours of my journey turned into 9 because of problems on the route; was dead on my legs at the end, but at least not hungry, so thanks! Nice staff too.

(Translated by Google) We had a larger order for a corporate event. The communication and organization was super uncomplicated. Everything was organized exactly how we wanted. Very very friendly service :) (Original) Wir hatten eine größere Bestellung für eine Firmenveranstaltung. Die Kommunikation und Organisation verlief super unkompliziert. (Translated by Google) It is a small bakery that offers a young, pleasant atmosphere. I like going there because they are the only one in the Oberursel area that offers other types of croissants than butter and nut nougat. (Original) Es ist eine kleine Bäckerei die eine junge, angenehme Ambiente anbietet. Ich gehe gerne hin weil sie die einzige im Raum Oberursel sind, die andere Arten Croissants als Butter- und Nussnougat anbieten.

(Translated by Google) Simply great! Something for every occasion. I have ordered several times. I have always found the right thing. Now ordered another birthday cake. No matter what flavor, it was tasty. Always on time, always well packaged and always long lasting. Both the coffee and the baked goods were always delicious. (Original) Einfach super!

(Translated by Google) Delicious rolls and products! The owner is also very friendly. Homemade platters, for example, for corporate events, are also available here. They look absolutely fantastic and taste great too! Highly recommended!

(Translated by Google) I had breakfast delivered and it arrived on time. No interaction with the delivery person, which I actually appreciated in the morning. The food was very tasty, except for the sandwiches, or in my case, the pretzel, which aren't all available toppings, so I gave the pretzel to a friend. Overall, I can recommend ordering there, with a personal preference for the scrambled eggs with sucuk (sorry if that's misspelled). You can argue about the cost, but since I ordered a lot, I found the price of €36 to be justified, even though I also ordered relatively expensive products.

(Translated by Google) Small, fine bakery shop. I was born on the 1st. Very friendly and courteous service shortly after opening on Christmas Day 2023. The rolls and sweets fresh from the oven were extremely tasty 😋 I'd be happy to go again! (Original) Kleiner feiner Backshop. Ich wurde am 1. (Translated by Google) Gül's Backshop has now become our regular bakery. Why? Quite simply, we buy rolls very irregularly and spontaneously, and we're not exactly early risers. But before I find myself standing in front of empty shelves on the weekend, I can pre-order rolls until 4 a.m. and pick them up the same day during opening hours. I think that's fantastic. Besides that, you can get a complete overview of the product range via WhatsApp (ask for their number), even with photos. Simply brilliant! Of course, the rolls are also incredibly delicious, making them the perfect place for us. For parties or events, various items like rolls or cakes can be pre-ordered and are decoratively presented. I'm happy to have a bakery with this concept nearby :) (Original) Güls Backshop ist inzwischen zu unserem Stamm Bäcker geworden. Warum?
