Resort hotel
Nestled on a stunning cliff-top overlooking the Atlantic Ocean and Porto de Mos Beach, Cascade Wellness Resort offers upscale accommodations inspired by the expeditions of Portuguese navigators. The hotel's rooms and suites are adorned with decor reflecting this historic theme, adding a touch of contemporary luxury to the property. Guests can enjoy fine dining, a luxurious spa, and a unique sand-bottom pool.
TL;DR: Cascade Wellness is a fantastic family-friendly base in the Algarve with spacious apartments, great amenities, and a unique sandy-beach pool the kids loved. Highly recommended for families, couples, or anyone wanting comfort and easy access to Lagos. Full Review: We stayed 5 days and couldn’t be happier with the location and setup. Having an apartment instead of a standard hotel room gave our family extra space, a full kitchen, and a washer/dryer—saving money on meals and luggage space. Our boys loved having their own room, and we enjoyed having our own space as well. The resort is very family-friendly, with many young families around, and the staff were friendly and fluent in English. The highlight for our kids was the pool with a sandy beach entry—a clever touch that meant they could play in sand without us having to go to the beach every time. There’s also a well-equipped gym, a games room, and a restaurant on site. Only one drawback: the resort has just one main TV, so sports fans may need to go into town to watch games. The location is excellent for exploring Lagos and the Algarve coast. The old town of Lagos is charming (though parking can be tricky—use the north-side garage), and from here it’s easy to explore other towns. We drove down from Lisbon, but Faro airport is an easy alternative. Overall, Cascade Wellness offered comfort, space, and amenities that made our family trip smooth and memorable

Location, location, location. If you don't mind walking 15 minutes or you really want somewhere quiet, this is a fantastic resort. It grew on me while we stayed here, when we first checked in we were a bit worried because there were a few things that needed a little repair, but after staying - the rooms are really nice, cleaned each day, very well appointed. The patio was amazing and we spent time on it drinking wine each day. The location is again and having the back gate out onto the walking path was perfect. We walked East to the lighthouse/grotto for sunsets and we walked West for the less busy beach. Walking into old town Lagos was definitely a longer walk of about 30-40 mins. The staff were all very friendly. And drove ahead of us in a golf cart to check the door keys worked. The biggest question - would we start here again? Absolutely yes! We're looking forward to it.

We spent an amazing week at Cascade and LOVED it. We had a sea view suite for our family and it was two big rooms and the staff put an extra single bed for our son and a pack n play crib for our baby. It was all set up so perfectly for our family and we loved having the second room and bathroom for a living room and patio view a view for evenings and sunrises (perfect for us parents of little ones). The breakfast was amazing, delicious and had SO MUCH variety. The restaurant and bar upstairs was amazing too. The kids club and pools were also amazing. Everything was amazing! And last but not least, the staff were top tier. They truly care about their guests and want everyone to have a great experience. Every single person we met who works there went over and above to make our time special. We are already planning on coming back. One specific stand out staff member is the young lady with longer blonde hair who greeted us in the mornings at breakfast. I think she’s one of the head team members, and she was so lovely to our family and the way she treats everyone she works with and all the guests was really over and above. I wish I could remember her name! She was truly incredible.

We had a lovely week on the Algarve using Cascade as a base to visit the area. The cliff top location is stunning and the pools were pleasant. Staff were friendly and welcoming. The restaurant staff were great with my son. Our week was disrupted by a faulty door lock, while quick to try a rectify when the problem first occured once it was ongoing it took a while for a different room to be offered (grateful to the manager who arrange the new room). The double room otherwise was very spacious, decor a bit tired/needing a top up coat of paint in places. Unfortunately our room had a generator running outside which provided a free white noise machine. Wellness wise, nice gym, spa facilities free to guests underwhelming (jacuzzi was out of order the week we're there). Food was good all week and great options to walk out to if you don't mind a 20min leg stretch. TL;DR - Nice location, rooms spacious but a little tired, food good, wellness maybe, staff excellent. Our room had issues hence the lower room score.

We loved every minute of our stay here at Cascade Wellness Resort. The food at the restaurants were tasty. Definitely recommend a dinner at Senses - fine dinning that took us on a food and wine tour around Portugal. The location of the resort was perfect for us. There are cliffs and trails all along the ocean. We could easily walk to Ponte de Piedad, Praia Camillo (~15mins), Praia Dona Ana (~30 mins), Praia Estudantes (30mins), and the city center (~45mins). We also loved the services at the spa. Such kind and professional staff - we felt amazing after our relaxing massages, the pool, and enjoyed both the dry and hot saunas.
Stephanie M — Google review
I’ll start on a positive note. The hotel has a wonderful location. We liked the friendly staff. Everything was handled very politely, and whenever we needed any help, it was resolved immediately. For example, a broken shower button was fixed in the morning while we were at breakfast. Speaking of breakfast, the selection was large, and everyone could find something for themselves. You could sit inside the dining area or outside at tables with a view of the pool and the ocean. If you want to stay for dinner as well, €44 per person for that kind of buffet is definitely overpriced. On the first evening, we were so tired that we had to stay in. The mocktails at the bar were very tasty. We ordered piña coladas several times. Takeaway food to the pool was also decent. I ordered a Caesar salad, and it was edible. Special thanks for the adapter for the Irish-type plug — I had forgotten mine, but the reception kindly provided one. Overall, the staff is friendly. Now for the negatives. I travel often and stay in many hotels, so I have something to compare. I have never seen a situation where a waiter wipes chairs after breakfast and then wipes the tables for the next guests with the same dry cloth… There was no disinfection. It was disgusting. Some food (for example, scrambled eggs) was cold and tasteless. Fortunately, there was a choice. The rooms do not live up to 5 stars — furniture and walls are scratched, the tropical shower leaks on your head even when it’s turned off. Water from the shower gets on the floor, so we had to change several towels a day, and the grout in the shower is long overdue for an update for hygiene purposes. And the cherry on top was the ventilation, which apparently hasn’t been cleaned in a long time, see the attached video. The iron leaked, and at the end I remembered that the jacuzzi didn’t work. I would rate the hotel 3.5 stars. Hygiene must be maintained. Check-in is late — 3:00 PM. I would not return here a second time.
Diana P — Google review
Best location in the town. First impressions were that the hotel was a bit dated and we had issues with getting the room cleaned. However the staff are all very friendly and professional, they rectified each mistake and we had the most peaceful relaxing stay with beautiful breakfast/dinner. We aren't the kind to revisit but we will certainly consider returning here.
TheVinokourov — Google review
Stayed for 6 nights in Autumn. Very good rooms and facilities - not brand new but maintained, attentive staff with great service. Enough choices of restaurants, pools, and good location in Lagos - privacy but with good access to the center in a 2km walk. I selected Cascade after careful evaluation of 5-star alternatives in Algarve and I am happy with the value I receive. Recommended for its service level and value.

Spa
Belmar Spa & Beach Resort is a refined and elegant retreat offering comfortable studios and apartments. It's conveniently located, just a short drive from Lagos vibrant city center and steps away from Porto de Mos Beach. The resort boasts an array of amenities including multiple pools, spa treatments, sauna, Turkish bath, and a restaurant with local cuisine. For those seeking a peaceful beachside escape, this resort offers easy access to the beach and stunning ocean views.
An absolutely stunning holiday retreat — spotless, elegant, and full of charm. This resort is simply beautiful. Every corner of the property is immaculate — sparkling clean, well maintained, and thoughtfully designed. The staff deserve special mention: consistently friendly, attentive, and always ready to help with any question or request. We stayed in a small apartment with a balcony overlooking the sea and the gorgeous pool area — the view alone felt like a holiday highlight. The pools themselves would deserve their own review: each one is fantastic in its own way. We especially loved the family pool, from where you enjoy a breathtaking view of the beach through a glass balustrade. The location is slightly outside of Lagos, but that’s actually part of its charm. Within about ten minutes on foot, you reach the starting point of the spectacular cliff-top hike — one of the most impressive coastal walks in the region. After exploring Lagos, we simply took the bus back to the hotel — easy and convenient. The beach right in front of the resort is beautiful and atmospheric, with a lovely beach bar and restaurant. Speaking of food, the hotel’s own restaurant offers excellent cuisine paired with flawless service — a true pleasure every evening. Bottom line: an absolute recommendation. I’m already thinking about how soon I can come back.
Dan B — Google review
Great resort, close to the beach and a short cab ride to downtown. Nicely equipped gym and spa. Indoor pool facilities are in need of ventilation, the chlorine in the air stings the eyes after a short while. The hotel could also benefit from some clear signage as we were often left guessing which door led where. Our 2 bedroom suite had everything we needed for our stay, was very comfortable, and had amazing views of the pool and ocean.
Justin J — Google review
How is this hotel considered 4stars? So many much nicer 4stars in the area. Our room was in the basement level. The hallway carpet had many stains. Our bed was two twins pushed together like a euro hostel. No bellhops to take your luggage up the hills. They told us we had to settle our tab the night before checking out because they don’t staff someone at the front desk before 8am. Location was nice next to the beach. But we walked up to Hotel Vivenda Miranda for lunch and had immediate hotel envy. Same price. Beautiful view. No screaming children. Also, we requested a new set of towels the second day we were there and we were told that you can only get towels switched out twice a week. Like what?!
Rob M — Google review
Enjoyed our stay here. The only drawback for us was the distance to the old city center, but was close to the beach. We like to walk, but did a lot and didn’t want to add that piece. Two good restaurants at the beach too so that was good. The Belmar was nice, the staff attentive, and the restaurant was perfect for our last night there. Of course, the spa and an adults only pool out of 5 pools. If you go, enjoy yourself!
Randy C — Google review
Fantastic location right by the sea. The rooms are well appointed and the spaces are well utilised. The restaurant has a great relaxed feeling as you enter and the foot was very good. The pools were well maintained and the gym was more than adequate, although some of the plates ( weights) were slightly rusty. The staff ( including the cleaning staff) were very friendly and amenable. Look into forward to another visit
Tony B — Google review
The location of this hotel is great, and the rooms are spacious and well appointed. Unfortunately both of the bathrooms smelled strongly of mold, and there was quite a bit of dark mold on the grout in the showers. We were excited to have a washing machine for this leg of our trip, but it also smelled strongly of mold. We mentioned these issues to the staff, and were told it would be addressed but it never was.
Natasha N — Google review
Rooms are great for what we paid very spacious but you can hear your neighbours when it’s quiet in the evening, still comfortable and enjoyable though you can have any fresh food out lest you invite ants into your room! Service was mostly good save a couple sour annoyed staff who came across rude and made us feel like we were being stupid but then those that were good were lovely and made up for those less common bad experiences. Location was great imo so soooo close to the beach and decently close to town, super cheap to get a taxi if you’re not bothered to walk the 30/35 mins out. I would still return despite the small bad things, overall so brilliant!
Sarah S — Google review
The rooms are in a shabby state, the shower head holder is broken, the bathroom sink drains very slowly, the door lock is very difficult to engage, you have to lift the door in order to engage it. Room service changes towels on a weekly basis so don't leave you towels on the floor, they will not be changed. It takes forever to get hot water. The pool area is surrounded by wood planks which are not all well supported and some joints dangerously sink. The hallway carpets are stained and dirty. On the positive side, the rooms have metal curtains that block out daylight perfectly. The consierge service is amazing, they give great suggestions on things to see and are very knowledgeable on local tours. The restaurant's buffet style breakfast is great. The dinner menu is nice and the food is very good.

Nestled in the vibrant heart of Lagos, the Lagos Avenida Hotel is a chic waterfront retreat that perfectly blends comfort and style. Guests can indulge in airy accommodations featuring stunning views of either the marina or cityscape, complete with modern amenities like flat-screen TVs and private bathrooms stocked with complimentary toiletries. The hotel boasts an inviting outdoor infinity pool that overlooks both the marina and Meia Praia Beach, making it an ideal spot for relaxation after a day of exploring.
I have stayed her numerous times. I always find it excellent. Hospitality is not as easy as it looks and all the staff manage to do it effortlessly. The breakfast crew really are a ray of sunshine. The breakfast is really good and plentiful too. Looking forward to returning soon.
Zeon40 — Google review
Overall great experience. Nice room with a view of the marina. Easy walk to beaches and town. Fantastic breakfast was included. Swimming pool is heated.
Glue G — Google review
Terrible experience at this hotel. I stayed here with a friend for 3 days in July 2025. They charged me in US dollars for the room due to an error with their machine. Immediately I noticed the charge went through in dollars I asked them to cancel the charge and reprocess it in euros, they refused ( because they get a commission on this). They then forced me to sign the receipt otherwise I wouldn’t have a place to stay. I was overcharged 80 usd because of a dishonest hotel. The front desk staff at this hotel was also incompetent, we inquired about reserving chairs at the beach, the lady at the front desk went on and checked the beaches live cameras confirming there were many empty chairs available and then called the beach to assure they accepted credit card. We then took an uber to the beach, only to find out that all the empty chairs were already reserved. A four star hotel that actually provides good service would’ve been able to tell us that we should’ve reserved the chairs prior to arrival, unfortunately this ruined an entire beach day. Pool bar was expensive and charged 10% service charge for barely any service. We ate at the restaurant, food was mid at most, no reason to pay for a dinner like this in Lagos when there are plenty of delicious restaurants to choose from. Room was clean but bathroom is just as others described here, absolutely no privacy, if you are lucky to have a balcony you can have your roommate sit outside so you can relieve yourself in peace. Hotel is quiet because there are no guests here and there’s a reason for this. Overall the worst hotel we stayed in my 11 day trip to Portugal, there are other hotels to consider for a fraction of the price which probably will provide a better experience. Just an update, I never chose USD, your POS machine first asks do you want to be charged in euros or usd which I selected euros, then another questions is asked do you confirm yes or no. Your front desk man even confirmed the issue with your pos machine was a new prompt. Still no reason why after the fact I was incorrectly charged in dollars that it could not be rectified. Obviously not rectified because your hotel makes some extra money. To all going to this hotel BEWARE of this scam charging, this is the only hotel I visited that puts this option on their POS, classic money grab scheme.

5 stars I had a fantastic stay at Hotel Avenida Lagos! The hotel is very clean, the rooms are comfortable, and the overall atmosphere is welcoming. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful, always ready with a smile and great service. It’s a very good hotel in a great location, perfect for exploring Lagos. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a relaxing and enjoyable stay!
Philip — Google review
I loved our stay here. It was clean, beautifully decorated, the staff was friendly and helpful. I loved that they had a pool and the view was really nice. It was close enough to walk everywhere we wanted to go. They had a full bar as well which was fully stocked with lots of great options. My only “complaint” would be the bathroom.. it was a glass box that might as well been in the middle of the room being there was no privacy when using it but it was and wouldn’t be a deal breaker for me to come back again and again to this hotel when in Lagos. Our outdoor area was large and got great sun but also had an umbrella to block it which was also nice. The dining options at the restaurant were wonderful and there was parking very close by for us to go in and out with no issue.
Kate S — Google review
Our Marina view room actually gave us a view of the road, traffic , pedestrian crossing which beeped all night and lots of people. Not quite the marina view we paid extra for. When I mentioned this to the hotel they said it’s ok the windows are sound proofed. I suspect they haven’t stayed in a room to experience the constant noise. Our phones would not connect to WiFi , even though we asked reception to help. We were told by ISA that her phone was fine and no one else had a problem. I found her attitude to be argumentative. The front desk lady let the whole team down. We were still waiting on the requested iron to be delivered when we left. Pool stairs are dangerously loose. Each problem we had we did speak to the hotel but it was not handled well.

My wife and I are here on our anniversary. We first booked an airbnb type of hotel and it was too remote from everything and didn’t have a concierge so we were a bit panicked. Fortunately they gave a full refund and we immediately booked with Lagos Avenida Hotel and we couldn’t be happier! First we met Isa at the front desk and she couldn’t be sweeter and more accommodating with suggestions of places to eat and activities to do during our stay here in Lagos. She welcomed us with a sweet message and bottle of wine for our anniversary. The rooms are modern but super cozy and intelligently set up/the shower is awesome. The bed is SO comfortable. The location is perfect. The rooftop pool is so nice with views of the entire Avenida and water. And the breakfast is amazing too. Also in the hotel is a Michelin recognized restaurant that we haven’t yet tried but plan to…We couldn’t be more happy with the last minute decision we made and would HIGHLY recommend this hotel!!!

Lagos Atlantic Hotel is a straightforward hotel in Lagos, offering relaxed rooms with balconies and an outdoor pool. The 4-star hotel is conveniently located near Porto de Mos Beach and Dona Ana Beach, providing guests with easy access to the beautiful coastline. The spacious rooms are air-conditioned and equipped with modern amenities, including flat-screen TVs and private bathrooms. Families can take advantage of the pull-out sofa beds in the family rooms, where kids under 12 stay for free.
Can’t fault this hotel at all. Clean, spacious rooms with everything you’d need. Coffee machine, great sized mini fridge, good shower, good AC, comfortable beds. Great continental & buffet breakfast included, fresh eggs made to order too. Goes until 11am which is nice as hotel breakfasts often finish up early. Welcome drink tokens upon arrival was a lovely touch, Samuel on the front desk was very kind and helpful too. Location is great especially with a car (but not needed), parking is safe and included. Beautiful beaches and cliff walks less than 5 minutes away and Lagos itself less than 10 minutes away. Hotel amenities & area were lovely and peaceful, very respectful and quiet guests. Sunbeds & pool are nice and clean. Rooftop sunbeds by the gym too that have a great sea view. Perfect hotel in The Algarve for a sun holiday.

We stayed at Atlantic Lagos Hotel for 4 nights and absolutely loved everything about it! From the moment we arrived, the front desk staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming. The room was clean, comfortable, and beautifully maintained. The pool area was fantastic — especially the pool bar, which made it easy to relax and enjoy the sunshine. Breakfast each morning was delicious with a great variety of options. The hotel is also perfectly located, just a short walk from the beach. What really stood out was the warm, homey atmosphere throughout our stay. It truly felt like a home away from home. We would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Lagos!

5 min walking distance to a beautiful beach. 11 min ride to the marina. Quiet place to unwind. Breakfast was great. Super clean. Fabulous staff to cater to your needs. They booked us an excursion that was one of the best we had experienced. We had so much fun. I highly recommend this place. I would definitely come back.

We had a wonderful time at the Hotel Atlantic. It was perfect for our trip - only a little distance from the old town but lovely and peaceful so you don’t get woken up by noisy tourists in the street. It’s near a lovely beach and some great restaurants. The hotel itself is fantastic - breakfast is delicious with fresh pastries and eggs made for you each day. The hotel is well decorated and the pool area is just what you need for a relaxing holiday. Drink prices at the bar are very reasonable with a great selection. We would love to shout out Vivienne on reception who was BEYOND helpful at booking us many trips and a massage - thank you! Also Amin at the bar was so friendly and welcoming. We can’t wait to come back next year!

We’ve just left our stay at the Atlantic hotel and it even surpassed our expectations despite the reviews already being so good. Normally, even in the best hotels we’ve stayed in, there’s a few things that could have been slightly better, but it’s hard to pick a hole with anything at this hotel. The service and staff were extremely accommodating and friendly, always on hand for anything you need. The room was fantastic. Beautifully finished to a high standard, the bed was extremely comfortable and bedding felt luxurious, the shower was superb, there was a fridge despite some reviews saying there wasn’t, the tv had all modern apps etc. The facilities were great. Pool was really nice and there were always beds available, the food at the pool was also great and the drinks were fantastic. The breakfast was outstanding! Very varied, so many options available. Highly highly recommend

This hotel is amazing! It’s open, spacious and light! With beautiful paintings and photos of the landscapes around town. The rooms are very nice and clean, the food is very tasty and a lot to choose from. Especially I wanna give a big shout out to the kind people behind the front desk and Mayara who is managing the breakfast room… She is on another level of kindness and hospitality! She let us start our every new day special and was very helpful with questions in and around the place! This is what makes a stay in whatever place we choose extra special and I’m extremely thankful for people and places like that.

We stayed at Lagos Atlantic Hotel for 3 nights and absolutely loved it! The service was amazing, the rooms were super comfortable, and the view was stunning. Everything was just perfect, no complaints at all. A special shout-out to Samuel, who went above and beyond with fantastic recommendations for local attractions and great restaurants. His kindness and hospitality truly made our stay even more special. If we ever return to Portugal, we’ll definitely stay here again! Highly recommended.

Perfect Stay at Boutique Hotel Vivenda Miranda Our stay at Vivenda Miranda was nothing short of amazing! From the moment we arrived, we felt completely at ease—so much so that we weren’t sure we even wanted to leave the hotel. The grounds are stunning, and our room was absolutely gorgeous. Since we visited during a quieter season, we were pleasantly surprised with a complimentary upgrade to a huge suite with a phenomenal patio. Breakfast was a highlight—fresh fruit, pastries, made-to-order eggs, and an incredible coffee machine that made delicious espressos and cappuccinos. The servers and bartenders were incredibly kind and helpful, making our experience even better. The location is fantastic—a short walk to Ponta da Piedade and several beautiful beaches, plus an easy stroll into Old Town Lagos. On-site, the spa, pool, and exercise room were all top-notch. We had a wonderful stay at Boutique Hotel Vivenda Miranda. The location is stunning, with beautiful views over the ocean and well-kept gardens that create a very calm and relaxing atmosphere. Our room was tasteful, comfortable, and thoughtfully furnished, offering plenty of privacy. We especially enjoyed breakfast on the terrace — a great way to start the day with fresh, local food and a fantastic view. The team was warm and professional, always helpful without being intrusive. It’s clear that service and guest comfort are important here. We also appreciated the hotel’s focus on sustainability and well-being, which added a meaningful touch to our stay. Overall, Vivenda Miranda is a special place — peaceful, welcoming, and ideal for taking a real break. We left feeling rested and would be happy to return.

We have stayed in many five-star and above hotels, but this place was truly special. We had never experienced a boutique hotel. The service was excellent, and every moment of our stay was a delight. The view was stunning, and we will definitely return. The food was fantastic, and breakfast was superb. The staff’s attention to detail and warm hospitality were outstanding. In particular Francesco who had his first day working there, was very nice. Thanks to everybody.

This place is absolutely stunning. A beautiful boutique hotel, intimate, clean, and has great views. The rooms are spacious and beautiful. We had a lovely patio looking out to the garden with an ocean view. The front desk staff was very helpful and friendly. We had really slow service for dinner at their restaurant (so slow that by the time we got our servers attention to order our main meal, they said the kitchen was closed). Their bar service was also pretty slow. Having said all of that, I would still go back in a heartbeat. It's in a really quiet part of town with walking access to a beautiful beach.

We are happy to choose this hotel! Deluxe, luxe rooms are super nice decorated and big. By the pool is always nice quiet. Good for relaxing your mind stay.

I stayed here with my mom. Not only did you not have a bathroom door, but there was also a window looking into the bathroom. And the window provided immediate access for the people walking in the garden to see right into the shower. Horrible design. At a minimum put some window treatment so people can’t see inside

Inn Seventies is a charming hotel located in Lagos, offering bright studios and a low-key atmosphere. The property features a rooftop terrace with a pool, providing stunning views of the bay. With its convenient location just a short walk from the Church of Santa Maria and the city center, this inn offers 10 rooms with city views. Guests can enjoy amenities such as WiFi throughout the property and private parking. The hotel also boasts two outdoor swimming pools and free on-site parking.
Spacious and clean room in central location. There is a lovely roof terrace where breakfast was served and it turned into a sky bar in the evening for chilled cocktails. The host was lovely and made us feel welcomed. The room has a big comfortable bed and also sofa bed. There is a sink and a little fridge freezer. The bathroom is spacious with a strong shower. The breakfast was nothing to write home about but it is enough to give you a kick start to the day, the only hot item available was eggs made to order the way you like. We liked the central location with easy access to everything.

The room we were in was dated they did not provide any toiletries, including hand soap. When we asked, they told us they would get them . During our stay 3 nights, no one brought any soap. On the positive Breakfast was good, and the staff serving breakfast were very good

I canceled this hotel via Expedia, it's been 2 weeks and they haven't refunded me. I contacted Expedia and Expedia called them and said that I'll get my refund soon, that's a week ago. I still have not received any refunds. Now I have to call them to chase. The listing on Expedia didn't say that it's Inn seventies, it is listed as lagos central studio. I only got the name from checking my visa statement. This is feeling like a scam. Very bad

I staid there 4 nights. The room were very dark. Light bulbs were inefficient. In the day, you could draw the curtains, but at night, you couldn’t read! Service was non existent. Sheets and towels were changed every 2 or 3 days. In addition, it was supposed to offer breakfast, but there was none, even though, there is a dining room with a view on the top. They offered a 7,5 € per person per day when room was charged 170€/night! Situation was ok, but overall, it was very expensive for what it is.

BEWARE!!! We placed a reservation for June of 2025, with the options to “pay at property” and for free cancellation. The very next day we cancelled - as we realized we wouldn’t be able to travel on those dates. We were quite shocked to see that Inn Seventies went ahead and charged our credit card for the full amount of the stay!!!!! This is after we received confirmation saying that the booking had been cancelled free of charge!!! We are now having to work with the booking agency and our credit company fraud department to get the charges reversed!!!!! Very crooked practices!!!!!
Katherine F — Google review
CAREFUL! They cloned our Visa card, after we cancelled our reservation. They tried to charge it with electronic equipment purchases online a few days later. We presented a complaint to Polícia Judiciária. BE VERY CAREFUL with these people if you decide to stay here! Avoid it as much as possible!

The studio was nice and clean, the staff helpful and friendly. Location is everything, right in the center of Lagos & 10 min walk to the beach. We could check-in early by asking nicely. There is a rooftop bar on top of the building - it is stated everywhere on the website, of course it means there is a little bit of noise! You really got what you pay for (read before you book).

Palmares Beach House Hotel is a sleek and modern 20-bedroom hotel located near Lagos, offering a luxurious beach and golf experience. Overlooking the Palmares golf course and the Atlantic Ocean, the hotel features spacious rooms with balconies, ocean views, a restaurant and bar, as well as a beach shuttle for convenience. With its contemporary design and proximity to Meia Praia beach, it's an ideal destination for both beach lovers and golf enthusiasts.
We had a lovely time, staff lovely. The views were excellent, breakfast was absolutely lovely - plenty of choice. Only criticism was bathroom due a bit of TLC and quite a bit of development around, but once in the hotel - excellent.

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐ (3/5) Palmares Beach House Hotel has a stunning location with incredible views, but it falls short of a true 5-star experience. The receptionists were friendly, and although our room wasn’t ready until 4 PM, we enjoyed some time on the terrace. However, on the way to the room, we had our first encounter with “Mr. Vacuum Cleaner”, casually leaning against the wall. The room itself was lovely, with a fantastic view and a spacious terrace. Dinner at the hotel was a highlight — delicious and well-presented. Unfortunately, we also found a spider web near our table (photo attached), which was disappointing for a hotel of this level. The next morning, we crossed paths with Mr. Vacuum Cleaner again — this time laying on the floor, apparently still sleeping. Breakfast was the biggest letdown. It was shockingly poor for a 5-star hotel. The options were minimal, and the overall presentation left a lot to be desired (see photos). While it’s a beautiful hotel, it’s really only worth it for the view. The service and attention to detail need significant improvement to match the 5-star promise.
Alexa S — Google review
We stayed at the hotel as a family of five, in two rooms. The hotel could have been amazing, but it was very disappointing. The service and reception were without a smile, and the staff seemed to be unmanaged. There was no soul or joy. They didn’t show any interest in us, never asked if we needed anything during our stay, and never made any effort to get to know us. This created a sense of alienation and made it hard to enjoy what the hotel had to offer. The sea is very far from the hotel. The beach is very basic, with nothing special—just a regular public beach. There’s no service at the pool, and the wooden deck is poorly maintained; we even got stuck on some protruding wooden planks. There’s no lifeguard, and you can’t order drinks or food by the pool. In conclusion, the hotel lacks character and soul, with no pleasant atmosphere at all. We won’t return and wouldn’t recommend it.
Yael Y — Google review
Our stay was perfect. Friendly staff, nice views. Great golf. Now it has quite a bit of construction around, that may in the future be somehow disruptive? A brand new Marriott autograph resort is scheduled to open in a few years. This would not deter us to consider coming back..
Claire H — Google review
This was an absolutely wonderful experience staying at this hotel. Every single staff member we had the pleasure to speak with was kind and informative. Our room was truly beautiful with amazing views of Lagos and the ocean. Breakfast was delightful each morning with an option to sit on their patio overlooking their pool and the water. I would advise renting a car as we relied on ride share apps to get around but we knew the location was further off the main roads upon booking. However, this gave the location an extra sense of calm and peace which we loved!
Lauren S — Google review
This is VERYYYYYY far from a 5 star hotel.. at best it’s a 3 to 4 star hotel. No service at the pool. Every time you ask a question, you feel that you are annoying them. NEVER A SMILE. They don’t know what customer satisfaction means. Every time you need help the answer is we cannot… OR WE CANT.. Bathrooms with shower trays, when you take a shower the floor is wet .. I would not recommend this hotel if you want a 5 star service.

Experience the ultimate relaxation at Iberostar Selection Lagos Algarve, a contemporary hotel located on the tranquil outskirts of Lagos. With its stunning ocean views and direct access to Meia beach, this hotel offers a luxurious retreat. Indulge in the two on-site restaurants, four pools, and spa facilities while enjoying complimentary breakfast. Upgrade options include suites with private pools and doubles with Balinese beds on the terrace.
Lovely hotel with relaxed atmosphere and very attentive staff. Jason checked us in and was highly professional and organised. Aliou is very welcoming and humorous, as well as providing a fantastic service in both the lobby bar and main restaurant. Claudia provides an excellent waiting-on service in the bar. Hassan provides great service in the restaurant. My parter has enjoyed the aqua-fit classes several times, with all of the staff involved being encouraging, fun and professional in their approach. The hotel could be improved if the main pool was made adult only with the bottom pool focusing on being family-orientated. Otherwise this is a fantastic hotel, with excellent entertainment and staff.
Adam S — Google review
A really excellent hotel, with fantastic staff. We had the “Double Terrace with Balinese Bed” with the all-inclusive dining/drinks option which we loved as it was a good size and well appointed and the Balinese bed made for some excellent relaxing near the pool and with access to the bar for drinks. The mini fridge items were also included in our package. This included soft drinks, mini prosecco, beers, nuts/jelly sweets. The room had some signs of use with some small defects that did not have any affect on our stay. Buffet was good with plenty of selection with a changing menu that made sure to still have the basics (pizza, pasta, soup & chips) if the more…. exotic fare wasn’t what you wanted that day. The beach is easily accessible and is a great place to relax by the water, though it is not affiliated with the hotel there is plenty space to set up shop if you don’t want to pay to use the sunbed/umbrellas. I would appreciate if they would make the parking situation more transparent as we were uncertain of the process and costs before we arrived. However, once we had figured out the parking arrangements it was excellent to be able to park in the garage, a short walk from our room and was easy to come and go as we pleased. We also arranged late checkout though this is subject to availability!

We stayed at the Iberostar in the Algarve and had a great experience overall. Our room was on the top floor with an amazing ocean view. The location is beautiful and it’s just a short walk down to the beach, which was peaceful and not crowded at all. It felt very romantic. The breakfast buffet was also really good with a big selection and plenty of options. A few downsides were that the carpet on the sixth floor felt old and worn, which didn’t really match the five-star feel of the hotel. The AC didn’t seem to work properly in the mornings and was blowing warm air, so we had to open the balcony door for some breeze. The room phone also didn’t work, and even though I mentioned it to the front desk, no one ever came to fix it. Overall, it’s a beautiful hotel in a perfect location and definitely worth staying at. The service could be a little more attentive, and the rooms could use some updates to match the quality of everything else.
Jonathan A — Google review
Overall, we really enjoyed our time here and had a great experience. The property is beautiful, our pool terrace room was spacious, and the setting made for a relaxing stay. That said, I’m rating 4/5 for a few reasons that stood out: • Room details: In our pool terrace room, there was nowhere to hang clothes to dry other than draping them over the cabana. I noticed other rooms had something built onto the balcony for this, which would’ve been really helpful. • Navigation: Getting around the property was confusing at first. For example, the signs say beach access is on the 4th floor, but you actually have to walk to the far end, take an elevator down to 1 or 0, and then exit. You do have to leave the hotel grounds and walk down the sidewalk to get to the beach — not a problem, but it wasn’t explained clearly. • Room upkeep: There was some mold on the ceiling in our shower, which should be addressed. • Service: Service was generally fine, but not proactive. Other than once at dinner, no one approached me to ask if I wanted anything, and whenever I went to the bar for a drink, I felt a little like I was inconveniencing the staff. • Spa access: There is a charge to use any of the spa facilities, including just the hot tub or saunas. For a 5-star hotel, I would expect basic amenities like this to be included in the stay. The next 5-star property we’re heading to includes them free of charge, so this felt a bit “nickel and dimey.” None of these things ruined our stay, but they kept me from giving a full 5 stars. With a few small improvements, this could easily be a perfect experience.

My husband and I returned home last Saturday after a two week stay at this hotel. It was really good. When we arrived we were greeted by Jason at reception who was excellent during our whole stay. Max the porter was also really good and always willing to help. Big Thankyou Karim and his team at the pool bar. Very modern hotel which was lovely, food good, location good only minutes in small bus to town. The only small negative things were, carpets in room and landings need cleaned. Pool towells need renewed and also white room towells. I know it is getting to end of season but things need replaced people are paying a lot of money for their holidays. But everything else really good and we will be back to stay at this hotel again.
Margaret M — Google review
Very nice stay. Confortable. Nice beach. Fresh water easy to access on every floor. Good breakfast buffet. Parking easy (but 7 euros/ day). I didn’t appreciate you only get 1 beach towel per person (not long enough for sunbeds).
Sarah P — Google review
Loved staying here. The room was immaculate, although there were some quirks. We had a bath but there were no bath salts included and there is no soap in the near vicinity of the tub… The service was good, although we missed a bit of hospitality and friendliness. The food during breakfast was good, but the quality of some pre-prepared foods was not that great.
Steven A — Google review
We had some challenges during our stay, which the staff handled with professionalism and genuine care. They were supportive, responsive, and made sure we were not left at a loss, even allowing a cancellation when things did not work out. For that, we are very grateful. That said, the rooms could benefit from better maintenance and investment. The infrastructure does not fully match the expectations one usually has of a five-star hotel. The staff really do their best, but the owners should consider upgrades to bring the facilities to the same level as the service. But in the end this a business and a lot of guests seem to have a good time and not be as sensitive as us. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️to the staff

Nestled along the stunning Meia Praia Beach, Hotel Vila Galé Lagos is a luxurious retreat that promises an unforgettable getaway. With polished accommodations, some offering breathtaking ocean views, this stylish hotel features a sprawling outdoor pool that spans an impressive 1,200 square meters amidst beautifully landscaped grounds dotted with olive trees. Guests can indulge in relaxation at the Satsanga Spa, which boasts an indoor panoramic pool and various wellness facilities including a gym and sauna.
Very nice experience. Close to the beach, nice staff and good breakfast. The outdoor swimming pool is huge. Lots of olive trees all over the place, perfect for families and well organised. The playground and swimming pool for kids are not situated in the same area as the outdoor swimming pool so you can take advantage of the quiet of the pool without hearing the kids scream 😄 (I have 3 kids and they make a lot of noise).
Alina V — Google review
DO NOT GO TO THIS HOTEL. I cannot express how truly awful this hotel is. It is filled with screaming children running around unsupervised. The rooms were dirty with molds and mildew growing in the shower. We placed a reservation for a room with a king bed but it turned out to just be two twin beds pushed together that constantly slid apart. The walls were paper thin and we could hear everything people on both sides were saying even when they talked at a normal level. We ended up checking out early after only one night because we had such an awful experience, and the receptionist at the front desk assured us we would be refunded for the nights we did not stay. Well they are now refusing the refund our money. This company is a bunch of scammers. Worst hotel I've ever stayed at.
Bobby — Google review
Overall, the hotel was very nice and we had a good stay. However, the service at the pool bar was not very good and could definitely be improved. The Kids Club was fine, but it would benefit from having more toys and activities for the children. Also, the tiles around the children’s pool are extremely slippery, which felt unsafe and should probably be addressed. Another thing to note is that there are no restaurants immediately by the hotel, so you’ll need to either walk a bit or drive if you want to eat elsewhere.
Mikkel N — Google review
Set expectations. All Portugal beaches are public beaches, so no hotels are right on the beach. You can access the beach from this hotel, however you have to walk across a railroad track and pass a large homeless camp. Pizza restaurant on property is nice, and so is the breakfast buffet. Rooms stay with AC off when no one around, and many of our party had issues with the room thermostats. Pool area is great and hotel bar is superb.
Rossco P — Google review
First of all, my compliments to the housekeeper Isabel on the second floor. I have never experienced such warmth and good service before! The staff is friendly and the hotel is clean. The breakfast is very much based on the traditional British breakfast, which personally I’m not a fan of — but unfortunately that’s the case in almost all hotels in Southern Europe. The bar is also on the expensive side. The Portuguese restaurant in the hotel isn’t bad, but I had tastier food at the harbor nearby. Additionally, I was initially assigned a child’s bed as an adult, although after asking several times, they did eventually replace the mattress with a much more comfortable one. The hotel is definitely recommended if you're traveling with (young) children who enjoy making holiday friends by the pool and if you’re looking for a British-oriented cuisine.
Rick D — Google review
Only 3 star overall and rooms 3 star for a simple reason. When you pay for a 4 star hotel in August in the Algarve i exspect a clean bathroom , however ... rust around drain plug , mold around bath and worse is a moldy shower head is not what i exspect paying what you pay in August. Staff were 5 stars and all the rest was good but the bathroom really let it down.
Tony B — Google review
One of the most beautiful hotels in Lagos, the service is quite high for Portugal. The facilities are very well maintained and clean and their pool yard is to die for. Incredible location just across the street from the beach.
Marcos B — Google review
I had a very disappointing stay at Vila Galé Lagos and would not recommend this hotel if you are looking for peace, relaxation, or comfort. The room I was given was a connecting room, and I could hear every single conversation and noise from the guests next door. I came here to rest, but sleeping or relaxing was impossible due to the constant noise. The view from my room was also terrible — facing a wall with no sunlight. The terrace was unusable, and the room felt dark and damp, with visible mold. The hotel was overcrowded with children running and screaming everywhere, including the pool area. It is definitely not a hotel for couples or solo travelers seeking rest. The pool itself did not look clean, and with so many kids jumping and playing, I didn’t even feel like using it. The breakfast was extremely basic, with nothing exceptional and no effort to highlight Portuguese specialties. On top of that, the beach — although beautiful — had no loungers provided by the hotel. You are forced to pay around 20€ for a chair and umbrella, which is unacceptable for a supposed 4-star hotel, especially since other hotels I stayed at included this service. Finally, the service was very disappointing. The staff were not responsive to my requests. For example, when I asked for a beach towel, I was told there were none available and I had to wait over an hour. Overall, Vila Galé Lagos is noisy, poorly maintained, and offers very little in terms of comfort or service. I strongly advise against staying here if your goal is to rest or enjoy a quality 4-star experience. Ibtissam Benbrahim - stayed from august 12th, 2025 to august 16th, 2025

Marina Club Lagos Resort is a luxurious all-suite hotel located just a short walk from Lagos' historic center and Meia Praia Beach. The resort offers modern apartments and studios with private balconies, flat-screen TVs, air conditioning, and refrigerators. Guests can enjoy the spa, gym, outdoor swimming pool overlooking the marina, and an indoor pool as part of the fully-equipped spa.
We had a great experience at Marina Club Lagos. The location is outstanding—right on the marina, just a short walk to restaurants, shops, and the old town, yet still quiet and peaceful. It’s the perfect base for exploring Lagos without needing a car. The hotel itself is very well maintained. Everything feels clean, solid, and thoughtfully managed—common areas, the pool, and the rooms are all in great shape. You can tell the property is looked after with care. What really stood out was the staff. Everyone we interacted with was friendly, professional, and helpful. Whether it was front desk support or housekeeping, the service was consistent and welcoming. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a convenient, comfortable stay in Lagos with a bit of polish and personality.

This place is really beautiful and we loved the location for walking into town everyday. Rooms were spacious and the kitchen was large with a lot of supplies. I would have rated it a 5 star but i found the amenities lacking, there was only a two in one shampoo and body gel and no conditioner was given. Also we were there 3 nights and not once did we have cleaning service done, we were in our rooms until about 10-11:00am everyday and apparently that was just too late for our cleaners to come back to our rooms.

Very good resort located in the heart of Lagos Marina. Nice and spacious swimming pool area with sun beds and towels being provided. Rooms are nice and spotless. Only note the shower could have a better system of swap in-between top siphon and lower one. And we had some curious ants coming from the balcony.

Great resort in a wonderful location. Right next to the Marina and a short walk over the bridge into the old town. Stayed in 2 bedroom apartment which was well equipped. Cleaned every day which was great. Can't really find fault. Expensive but worth it.

This is clearly a family hotel, with a great pool zone. Although prices are very inflated, the location is very well centered and they offer a wife range of services. At times it can be crowded. Hower, I stayed at a condominium that is part of the hotel, so I much about the rooms.

The rooms are very spacious but fairly worn. Nothing major, just cabinets that don't close right and a shower that is a bit difficult to operate. But the front desk people are super nice and will do their best to help.

The apartment itself was well appointed, ours was a 2 bedroom standard. Beds slightly hard but you got used to it! Lovely view over the marina. No lift in the standard apartments which didn't bother us. Small shower cubicle in one bathroom and shower over bath in the ensuite. Housekeeping daily. Plenty of sunbeds and towels provided. Great location. Lots of restaurants and bars in the marina and a 15 minute walk to the old town. We loved Lagos and hope to return someday. I can recommend this property.

Nestled conveniently near the marina and the charming old town of Lagos, Hotel Marina Rio is an excellent option for travelers seeking both comfort and accessibility. This modern hotel boasts a stunning rooftop terrace complete with a heated outdoor pool, perfect for soaking up the sun while enjoying picturesque views of palm trees swaying by the marina. Each air-conditioned room features a lovely balcony where guests can unwind, along with amenities such as satellite TV, free Wi-Fi, and coffee/tea-making facilities to start your day right.
This hotel is located right in the heart of Lagos with a walking distance to organized tours' meeting places, old town restaurants and shops, as well as marina. Clean, modern rooms and a nice size swimming pool on the top. Receptionists are courteous, knowledgeable, and willing to assist with every issue. We were not able to get an extra night because they were fully booked, but we were more than welcome to store our luggage until we were ready to leave the town. If you would like to be in the middle of action but at a peaceful enclave, this hotel is a place to be.

This is a perfectly adequate hotel adjacent to the Marina (I guess the clue is in the name). The rooms at the front, have a small balcony, over a busy road, facing the Marina and get the sun up to lunchtime. At the back they overlook the main bus station but, on the upside, they get afternoon/evening sun. The rooftop is OK with a very small pool. There is a small bar adjacent to the reception but we never saw anyone use it. The rooms are very clean, fairly basic but you get what you pay for. The hotel next door is double the price with similar sized rooms and an identical view. We didn’t eat breakfast as there are several decent places locally. Not sure it’s a 4 star, but is certainly a very good 3 star and if we returned to Lagos, which is unlikely, we would stay at the Marina Rio again.

Excellent hotel only a few minutes walking to the old town and marina. Just out of the way enough to be quite and calm. The front desk staff were very helpful and breakfast was nice. Overall, I would 100% stay here again if we came back.
Jay V — Google review
Our stay at this hotel was a major disappointment, primarily due to the shockingly poor breakfast. Charging €20 per person for what can barely be called a breakfast is simply outrageous. If you're expecting a proper hot meal – forget it. On the first morning, the only hot items were an omelette and bacon. The next day – an omelette and baked beans. That’s all. No sausages, no boiled eggs, no pancakes – not even the basics you’d expect from a budget hotel, let alone a 4-star property. I carefully observed what other guests were doing: most just made themselves a coffee, grabbed a bread roll with some cheese or ham, and walked away. It was obvious everyone was equally underwhelmed. When my husband politely asked if it was possible to have some eggs prepared separately, the answer was a blunt: “We don’t do that.” Frankly, that response is unacceptable. If you don’t offer the most basic breakfast items, what exactly are guests paying for? On top of that, the staff were distant, unapproachable, and showed zero hospitality. They avoided eye contact and didn’t even greet guests in shared spaces – not in the hallways, not in the elevator, nowhere. This hotel does not live up to its 4-star rating by any standard. The service is minimal, the attitude is indifferent, and the breakfast is a disgrace. We feel thoroughly let down and would absolutely not return – nor would we recommend this place to anyone.

cute hotel with great location across the lagos marina. room was nice & came with a balcony where you can relax/enjoy the sun or breeze. daily cleaning & helpful reception staff. there’s a small bar but no restaurant, rooftop pool available to use. breakfast was disappointing; lacked in variety & spread. the only hot dishes were eggs or bacon on some days:( pastries weren’t even fresh. for the price of the booking, it felt like no value for money as the hotel had little to no amenities, no restaurant, poor breakfast. you’d be paying for just the location i guess lol. seeing as we didn’t spend much time in the hotel since we were out exploring each day, it felt even less of value for the money.

Great location, close to the train station and also the Lagos nightlife. Rooms are lovely with balconies overlooking the Lagos marina. There is nothing to complain about here.

Lagosmar Hotel is a small family run hotel with panoramic views of the city and Meia Praia Bay from its rooftop terrace. The staff were fantastic with Hernanes looking after and making me feel special. Rooms are simple but neat and comfortable, some with tiny balconies, though bathrooms could do with an update. The small roof terrace has great views of the marina.
A lovely hotel in a great location! Staff are super helpful and friendly, provided lots of tips on parking, restaurants, etc. Our room was spacious with a very comfortable bed and large private balcony. Our room didn’t have a mini-fridge but ice is available at reception, which was perfect. We would definitely stay here again!

Rooms were clean and spacious. Location was great, quite close to the city center and a lot of great dining options very nearby. Staff were also very friendly. Really great value for the price

This was the worst hotel I have ever stayed at. From the moment we entered, there was a strong, overwhelming smell of dampness and humidity. Even though I had specified my room preferences during the reservation, they told us that standard rooms were non-smoking and gave us a room on the ground floor, where we had to spend the night in unbearable damp conditions. We couldn’t sleep at all. When we entered the room, we found long black strands of a woman’s hair on what was supposed to be a freshly cleaned towel. The room was extremely stuffy, the air conditioner was old, and it made a loud noise while working. The only positive thing I can say about this place is its central location. Despite paying for two nights, we realized after the first night that we couldn’t stay any longer and decided to leave. No one even asked why we were checking out early. As someone who has stayed in many hotels around the world, I find it completely unacceptable to pay this price and receive absolutely no service—let alone being denied even basic cleanliness. There is no refund policy. The only service provided was a water dispenser in the lobby, which they stopped refilling after a certain hour. There’s also a coffee machine, but only the first cup is free; any additional cups come at a cost.

The best thing about this hotel was definitely the location — right in the middle of everything, close to the main tourist areas, shops, and amenities. The rooftop terrace was also a nice feature. Front desk staff were very helpful and cheerful, and they answered all of my questions about nearby restaurants and attractions, which I really appreciated. That said, the property itself feels quite old and outdated, which you notice right away in the furnishings, bathroom, and carpets. Still, for a short stay, the convenience of the location makes up for it. However, I did have a concerning experience. Unlike my previous Airbnb stays, this was the only place where staff entered the room to clean. After checking out, I realized that one of my belongings — a jacket — was missing. I also noticed that the extender zippers on both my backpack and luggage had been opened, even though I never use the extra space in either. On one cleaning, the bed was made but some pillows and the decorative sheet from the bottom of the bed were left off to the side, as if the job was rushed. At the time, I brushed it off, but afterward it made more sense once I realized something was gone. Because of this, I would strongly advise future guests to lock up their belongings when leaving the room. The hotel worked fine for a short stay, and the staff at the desk were great, but I left disappointed after this experience.

I stayed for two nights. The room was clean, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The only downside was the noise — you can hear everything happening nearby. Fortunately, the other guests were relatively quiet, so it wasn’t too disruptive. didn’t try the breakfast. Nice terrace.

We stayed at Lagosmar Hotel for 3 nights and it was fantastic! Some older reviews made us nervous, but our experience could not have been better. Yes, the toilets are a bit dated, but the rooms are spotless, come with safes, and are cleaned thoroughly every day. The rooftop patio is a gem—perfect for enjoying a bottle of wine with a beautiful view of the water. The location couldn’t be better, right in the heart of the old town and close to everything. What really makes this hotel stand out is the staff. We had lost our baggage and passports when a bus left us stranded on the way to Lagos, and the team went above and beyond to help us, even though they didn’t have to. David, and especially Hannani, were incredible. Hannani spent hours calling customer service lines for us, speaking Portuguese on our behalf, and truly made a stressful situation manageable. If you’re looking for a great stay in Lagos, I highly recommend this hotel.

The staff were all so friendly and helpful. Rooms were spotless and the location is perfect right in the centre of the old town. The rooftop terrace is great with lovely reviews. Would definitely recommend and thank you to the staff for being so accommodating!
Marie C — Google review
The location of the hotel is great. But upon arrival, there was a musty smell which ended up being mold in two different places in the bathroom of the hotel room. I would recommend staying elsewhere as the rooms were not very clean, and the hotel was old and in need of some renovations with little to no amenities.

The Riomar hotel is located in the heart of Lagos, close to restaurants, bars and the marina. Rooms are small but adequately furnished with parquetry floors and balconies that overlook the old town's rooftops. Although noise from nearby bars can be an issue at night, it's a great location. The receptionists are friendly and especially the Russian guy was really nice.
Excellent Stay – Highly Recommend! I had a wonderful experience at this hotel. From the moment I arrived, the staff (especially Mr PANKAJ) were welcoming, professional, and attentive. The room was clean, spacious, and well-equipped with everything I needed for a comfortable stay. The location was perfect—close to everything but still quiet enough to relax. Breakfast was delicious, with a wide variety of options. I especially appreciated the attention to detail and the overall atmosphere of the hotel—it felt warm and inviting. I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to anyone looking for a great place to stay!

The location was good but it was quite loud as it’s in a busy area. Staff were friendly. Rooms were old but that isn’t the issue, the bathroom was covered in black mould. It stunk the whole room out and was unbearable. We asked to move room but as they were fully booked we were told no. The smell was so bad it was hard to spend anytime in the room even sleeping.

If you want to be central and have late nights. This is the ideal hotel. All staff was fantastic!!!! Seriously atentious and helpful. The rooms need to be modernised otherwise they are very comfortable and clean. Great balconies! I will go back

Lovely staff, charming old hotel, good budget accomodation with convenient location. Don’t be turned away by the negative reviews, entitled people who are expecting more than what they are paying for. Of course there’s not much parking in the middle of a historical town, use common sense people and research before you arrive.

Some sheets were dirty. The AC only worked on one room. The breakfast I can't know what to tell you tbh. They give you ear plugs... so imagine why. They could invest in a new windows maybe.. We had enough towells. If I will repeat I will not thanks sir. Please do not come again.

Except for the location right in the centre of the Lagos, nothing will bring amazing memories. Rooms are really outdated and could benefit from a serious lifting. Breakfast is poor with a limited choice of basic products. Service in general is almost non-existent and well below Portuguese standard. The only positive point is the price. Last but not least, if you're a night owl, this hotel is for you, else you better avoid it.

I visited Hotel Riomar with my Father who is in a wheelchair. The accessibility to the entrance of the property was OK but could definitely be worked on as it was a struggle sometimes. The accessible room was spacious with a nice hot shower and large beds. Only downside was that it was extremely noisy of a night time which made it very very hard to sleep, music was playing every night until at least 3am. Breakfast was a nice display of bread, ham, cheeses, cereals, fruit and yoghurt. Location was perfect in terms of things to do - right in the middle of Lagos with plenty of restaurants, cafes and bars nearby. Staff were friendly but I have to give a special mention to Renato who went above and beyond to help us in our stay. From the moment we arrived he made us feel welcome, made us laugh and was there to give us a hand with anything we need. He helped me out with my father when it was needed and always made sure we were OK. I think if Renato wasn't working at the hotel then I would probably rate this as a 3 star but he truly made it that much better. Thank you Renato, you are a legend!

HI Lagos – Pousada de Juventude offers a laid-back atmosphere with comfortable rooms and dorms, including breakfast and a courtyard with a pool table. The hostel's central location, just 5 minutes from the bus station and close to main tourist attractions and the beach, makes it convenient for travelers. Guests have praised the kind and accommodating staff who go above and beyond to assist visitors, offering tips about the area, storing luggage after check-out, and providing a pleasant overall experience.
I came here during the off season so there were very few guests. All of the staff workers were very kind. They went above and beyond by storing my luggage after my check out, holding my laundry for me and offering tips about the place. The hostel is centrally located, just 5 minutes from the bus station, and not far from main tourist attractions and the beach. The kindness of the people made the stay worthwhile. The breakfast (included) although cold, was sufficient and surprisingly decent. Even though there are no lockers in the rooms, you can lock the door. I didn’t have any issues with safety. Rooms came equipped with extra blankets for the cold season. Downside: it can get a bit loud outside so bring earplugs and an eye mask.

There were a lot of cockroaches, I think I counted 5 during my 4 days stay. The staff were really lovely, that’s about the only good thing I have to say. The showers are mouldy, the beds so rickety it was like an earthquake as the person above me climbed into their bed. I had a room on the bottom level right on the street and it was horrendously loud. Even with the windows shut (which made the room extremely hot) you would still get woken up by young people walking past to bars. And a lot of motorbikes zooming past. The cupboard I was assigned didn’t lock, luckily I could link my padlock with the cupboard next to mine. Not that it matters because every cupboard lock is the same key as the bedroom door lock. At one point there was dirty smelly water coming out of the floor next to the kitchen, not very appealing to be eating next to. The only common area inside always had a man sleeping in there which I thought was strange. It also seemed one off the street could walk in if they wanted to. The outdoor common area was fine. The free breakfast was nice but I would rather them spend money on updating the hostel. Again the staff were lovely and let us store our bags at reception after check out.
Madi E — Google review
The staff are so lovely that they made it a joy to deal with them. Piedro, Carla and Angela couldn’t do enough to help me. They gave me a better room upstairs away from the one assigned by the street without me even asking. Offered to store my bags. Told if I needed anything at all to come to them. Breakfast included which is a rare thing these days. Great coffee ☕️ Lovely internal open terrace with the rooms wrapping it with a wraparound balcony overlooking it. The balcony was a real suntrap in the afternoon with benches and tables and chairs there to enjoy it. There’s a dining room for breakfast, a separate kitchen for guests to use, and area to hang your washing to dry outdoors on balcony. You can’t fault that. Also very close to the nearest beach to the old town, the square with St Mary’s Church and also St Anthony’s Church. Great location. Highly recommend to those travelling on a budget! Enjoy! This review of stay in April 2024.

Note: we stayed in a private room as couple. ✅Very friendly and helpful staff. They even set up the breakfast extra early for us when we had to leave early, they are really nice. ✅Location is good. Nearby beach, city center, restaurants, bus station. ✅Clean ❌Breakfast was okay, could be a bit better if it had more variety.

Room is very humid (even with fan) and old. Beds uncomfortable and I think some insects were biting me at night. Our room was by the street so was noisy and difficult to sleep until club ended at 2am (on Monday night). Staff friendly and breakfast quite basic but nice. Central location in Lagos. Price reasonable.

Very good place to stay. It's cheap and the staff (reception, cleaners) is really friendly! It's in the centre, so close by everything. The rooms are small and without AC. However, it's still duable to sleep during hot nights because of the wind and window.

The staff here is amazing. I had problems (unrelated to the hostel) and the guys were extremely accommodating, helpful, and unbelievably generous. They have a free breakfast, many toilets and showers, a kitchen, a living room with a pool table, and a nice courtyard. It was also the least expensive hostel in the area! Love this place, I definitely recommend.

Sensations Guesthouse offers a pleasant and efficient check-in/check-out process without a reception. The rooms are clean and well-maintained, although some guests found the bed protection to be uncomfortable. The location is convenient, with markets and pharmacies within a 5-minute walk and the city center just 15 minutes away. Guests were pleasantly surprised by the spacious and well-equipped rooms, which include amenities like air conditioning, television, Wi-Fi, wardrobe space, and luggage storage.
Hello, I had a very good time in Lagos having a good rest and conditions in your accommodation to enjoy the activities I programmed. I'm sorry, but overall I wouldn't recommend this place. Please allow me to give some background. We came to Lagos after spending two nights in another guest house in Albufeira, which set the bar very high with incredible hospitality and facilities. We arrived at the Sensations Guest House, full of positive energy and emotions, only to be greeted by some confusion. The host was nowhere to be seen throughout our stay and we stumbled upon the cleaner upon our arrival, who didn't explain anything in English. Instead of handing us the keys after we showed the booking confirmation, for some reason she put them in the lock box and locked it, so we had to enter the code to get them out ?? The room was overall clean but it felt damp and cold. There were towels made in animal and flower shapes, which was cute until I realised the real flowers that came on top had ants in them, so I had to carefully inspect the bed for any bugs... The bathroom door was difficult to close and there was a massive gap at the bottom of it, which meant there was no privacy and all the lovely smells came inside the room. Speaking of smells, it smelled of sewage and mold inside, unfortunately. We could also hear everything from outside and other rooms, so it got noisy early in the morning and sometimes in the evening, too. Comparing this to other guest houses in Portugal, no water was provided upon arrival on a warm day, either. No extra towels or extra toilet paper could be found. The little touches that are so important, especially for a guest house, were lacking. As the host doesn't welcome you, there is no information on the facilities, either. We later on discovered a common kitchen, which was poorly equipped and wasn't the cleanest. The highlight of the place for me was the rooftop with the swimming pool, where you can watch an amazing sunset - this is the main reason I'm giving the property 3*. In terms of location, although the property is close to a big shopping centre, it is a bit of a walk to the old part of town where the nice restaurants, cafes and shops are.
Anna D — Google review
An absolute bang for your buck. We had the sun room in the Nature guest house part of the hotel. It was clean, modern and quiet. The hotel has a pool on its roof and the view over Lagos is really lovely. The only downside of the place is the way they serve breakfast. No self service - you have to say what you want and they give it to you on your plate.
Pavel P — Google review
I feel I've hit the jackpot with this place. £26.50 a night, for an amazing place that includes a rooftop pool! The bedrooms are decent size and decorated lovely, the grounds are lovely and in a really quiet part of lagos but not too far from the town centre. If this place was in England it would easily be 130 a night plus!
Stephen F — Google review
The rooms are nothing special but a very comfortable bed and nice, although small, bathroom. But ideal for one or a couple nights! It is a bit far away from the center, but that's something you know beforehand so! Overall, great stay!

This small and well-run hotel is one of Lagos' best value options, with tidy white rooms with chocolate-toned accents. The simple breakfast costs only a few dollars, and the staff are welcoming and well run. The train station is a short walk away, making it easy to get around town.
This is a great little hotel in the heart of Lagos. The rooms were immaculately clean with modern bathrooms, air conditioning and TV. The location could not get any better. You are a 10-15 minute walk from the bus station and foot bridge to the marina/beach. Honestly, I would stay here again in a heartbeat. The staff and owner were so kind and helpful. Breakfast was great as well. Nothing fancy but everything was perfect; we had fresh croissants before starting our day 😁

We really be enjoyed our 5 night stay here. Excellent location, right in the thick of things. Everything is nearby including a small grocery store. Staff are very friendly and helpful. The bed was very comfortable. Our room has a wonderful view of the main waterway, although it has an extremely small balcony. Very reasonably priced as well. Highly recommend this hotel

possibly the worst hospitality staff i’ve ever encountered in my life. seems like the reviews here are very divided - the room is ok, spacious. aircon is noisy, found dirty rags in my room. expect to hear the main door slamming and people talking. the only saving grace is their location. if like me, you’ve encountered a flight delay and check in past 2000h, i suggest you cancel your booking and find a nicer hotel elsewhere. otherwise be prepared for next-level hostility, unempathetic and rude staff who will lecture you and blame you for situations beyond your control. i find it incredulous that they’ve gotten a 4 star rating on google. i’ll be honest, for the price location and rooms it’s definitely worth staying but the attitude of the staff is appalling and disgusts me.

Price/quality is great, we stayed here for 3 nights (150euro total). Hotel is really in center, free parking near the harbor(15 min walk). Breakfast is minimalistic, but enough alternatives nearby. Do note that there's relatively much of noise from the street and other guests till around 10pm, night itself is quit. Room itself is complete and comfortable.

We chose this small B&B for the location but remember it for the service. After another tenant cancelled, we received a free upgrade to a room with a nicer view and didn't even ask. The location was amazing, one block off the river with wonderful views and a tiny patio we used to chill wine. The proprietor was nice enough to answer any questions we had and the room was clean and perfect every night when we got back. Also, the heat and water pressure in the shower was great. It was probably the best shower I had the entire trip!

Great little hotel in amazing, central location, everything in a short walking distance. Parking available at low cost in the garage nearby (10€ per day/40 per week), owner always helpful. Rooms with seaview are amazing. For the price, no one should ask for more

Rooms were dirty and the bathroom was full of fungus. Except of an older man, the stuff was very unfriendly. The breakfast was also lousy and very limited. If you travel by car, try to find another hotel, as this one is so central that you can only approach it by foot. If you like a very central hotel and dont care so much about cleanliness and a good breakfast, go for it.

Nestled in the vibrant heart of Lagos, the Lagos City Center Guest House & Hostel offers a relaxed and inviting atmosphere for travelers seeking an affordable yet comfortable stay. This casual hostel features both private rooms and dorms, making it ideal for couples wanting intimacy while still connecting with fellow adventurers. Guests can enjoy complimentary Wi-Fi and access to a shared kitchen, perfect for whipping up meals after a day of exploring.
Great experience, accommodating staff, spacious kitchen, hassle free. We stayed in a twin private double room, and the shower was always hot, the rooms was clean and had more than enough space for the two of us. Saw a few dodgy reviews but can assure you that for the price you pay you will be happily surprised. 10/10 would stay again.
Dan S — Google review
Booked a private room for our stay. I was traveling with a friend and the double bed was big and foamy enough that we didn't wake each other up in the night. Private bathroom was really nice, as was our private patio. The kitchen is sufficient, and there's a nice clothesline to dry laundry on. One of the downstairs dorms faces the street and would be best for heavy sleepers. Check in was super easy at the office next door.
Ming S — Google review
Strongly advise against it: Cheap price, but damaged property is not refunded! Unfortunately our stay was overshadowed by water damage. Water dripped from the ceiling in the middle of the night, so we had to move our beds for safety and lay out a doormat. In addition, our cell phone charger was damaged by contact with the wet multiple socket and it was the electrical buzzing that - luckily! - woke us up. I guess I don't need to explain any further that at this point there is a danger to life and limb. Contact via the platform and by telephone at the time of the damage (half past midnight) failed to yield any response from the accommodation. In retrospect, they now deny the incident and describe that we had moved furniture - yes, to prevent us from getting wet and to protect the furniture from water... All of this despite the fact that we fortunately took photos and video evidence, so let's see where it lands, but the accommodation is not cooperating and I would advise anyone not to choose this accommodation.

I rarely write reviews, but this experience was too awful to ignore. We booked the triple room for one night and it had a nice balcony and it was so nice but the next day we found our bodies full of bed bugs bites & immediately tried to contact the manager only to be told by reception that “he turns his phone off.” Seriously? When there’s a health issue? We had to cancel all our plans and rush to a pharmacy, then spend hours treating our clothes and bags to make sure we didn’t take anything with us. No apology, no follow-up, no accountability. When I expressed how serious the situation was, their response was: “Go ahead and write your bad review — we don’t give free stays to avoid fake reviews.” That says everything about how little they care about guests’ wellbeing or accountability. I wasn’t asking for a free stay — I was asking for basic hygiene and a responsible response. If this is how they treat people who report serious issues, you can imagine how they handle everything else. Avoid this place. and after taking our bags we saw that they already gave the same room to other people
Nayyera A — Google review
The Hostel replies very rudely to people on booking . com. I booked on there and then read all of the replies from the hostel and it honestly made me not want to stay there at all. Some of it could be due to a language barrier, but many replies are just rude and very unprofessional. It would be better to not reply at all honestly! I also work in gastronomy and I can understand the frustrations of dealing with entitled guests, but you’re supposed to be the professional and you come across more like a spoilt little brat who can’t take criticism. They also sent a whole form to fill out before arrival which is just making you do their job for you. All of it is information they can easily fill out when you arrive or take from your booking.

The dorm is too little for 8 beds, there is no air. The only window is towards the street and it's very noisy in the night. Bathroom is cleaned only once a day and giving that we are next to the beach, it's always very dirty. The kitchen is old as the kitchen tools. Not really good to use. No where was written you have to pay for the use of the locker and this is the very first time a hostel asked me money for using the locker. Beds are not really comfortable. Before booking (I do not recommend to book this hostel) read some of the response of the owner on booking.com. I wish I had read that before. Not recommended!
Emanuela M — Google review
Really nice if you are in a group of four where you all share a kitchen and a room together. The only complaints about the room is that there is a strange smell but you'll get used to it eventually. It's pretty cheap for its price and if you need anything you could go to the reception and ask for it. If you are travelling alone it operates as a normal hostel where you need to share a room with people. However, I would definitely recommend this if you are travelling in a group of three or four with a lower budget.

Loved the atmosphere and staff. Felt like a family environment with family dinners available every night for a small fee. Location is great, accessible to everything. However, place inside and outside is very loud at night due to the location. Cleanliness was okay. The rooftop terrace was lovely. Would stay here again.
Breanna B — Google review
This is hands down the worst hostel experience I've ever had – and I’ve stayed in some rough places, but this one takes the crown for filth and mismanagement. The entire place is filthy. Dirt everywhere, sticky floors, and a constant smell of damp and sewage that you can’t escape no matter where you go. The building is ancient and falling apart, with moldy walls and grime-coated surfaces. The bathroom had visible algae, and nothing looked like it had been cleaned in months. The beds are incredibly old and disgusting. Mine felt like it hadn’t been changed in years. The fan in the room sounded like a broken engine, and of course, there’s no AC – just a humid, suffocating atmosphere. To make it worse, the hostel is located right next to a bar that blasts loud music until 4 AM, so forget about getting any sleep. The fridge? A dirty, outdated piece of junk. You wouldn’t store a bottle of water in it, let alone food. The worst part? I tried to cancel my booking, but they refused, saying it’s non-refundable. Why? Because someone had already slept in my bed before I arrived, and they expected me to just sleep in a used bed without even changing the sheets or pillowcase. That’s not just gross – it’s disrespectful and unhygienic. When I asked for clean bedding, they flat-out refused. The staff is rude, unhelpful, and clearly has no clue how to run a hostel. This place is a complete scam, and the management is cheap, careless, and incompetent. They do not care about cleanliness, comfort, or customer service. It’s clear they’re just trying to cut costs at every corner, at the expense of their guests' basic health and comfort. Avoid this trash hostel at all costs. I wouldn’t recommend it to my worst enemy. You’ve been warned.

If you are looking for a hostel to stay in Lagos, that’s definitely the place! Best hostel were I’ve been so far. Perfect location, very clean, super nice kitchen, beautiful rooftop with sea views and very lovely stuff! Sol a sol it’s more than a hostel, it’s a family! Can’t wait to be back.. 🤍

I had a great time at this hostel. There’s a very lively vibe, thanks to the type of people staying here but definitely also because of the hosts who run the place. Make sure you get to know Diego!! He gives you a warm welcome right away and shows you the best spots to visit in Lagos. Com certeza voltarei outra vez. Muito obrigado!

Great location and that is about it. No air conditioning and the worst mattress you will ever sleep on. Overall messy hostel with a third world country vibe. Would not recommend

Small stuffy rooms, initilly no hot water in the shower. Shared citchen has no water, need to go to extra room.

I had the best time in this hostel! Everything and everyone felt welcoming and very safe. They organize different activities and they make dinner for everyone every night and this made meeting new people very easy. The staff is very helpful, they take time to suggest you things to do and see and if you have any problems or requests they totally take care of it (my shower broke and two minutes later it was perfectly fixed). They made my stay in Lagos perfect🌸🩷

Some rooms have a balcony wich is nice. But the blower from the airconditioning from the neighbor's is on the balcony. So if its on, it blows directly on your face. Not so nice

Good Guest House. The only bad point is lack of reception. So if you have a crazy neighbor, it can make a problem. I texted the owner and they came very fast to talk to our neighbor who had a party at 11 pm! But anyway, we had one great night and one bad night.

Good accommodation. Room was comfortable. Bathroom was small but the shower was excellent, as were the kitchen amenities.

No freezer, no hoven. A very incomplete kitchen, if you want to hear your next door neighboor having fun all night, it's the place for you. The kitchen cleaning service was good tho

Low cost accommodation which surprised us in every way. Cool and cosy room with stylish equipment. Big shower 👍. The room was perfectly clean. And only 12mins to center. 5⭐ earned.

I think it's great, super clean really quiet I've walked to all the epic beaches from here and also to food, no need for a car it's a great spot

We are locals, living 20 minutes from Lagos and were trying to look for accommodation for a friend who need it, however we made the mistake to confirm it on the wrong dates, then after 5 minutes we cancelled it and nobody had the decency to update the state, to reply our messages or anything. They charged the total amount. We tried 5 times to talk with someone from the property via WhatsApp and e-mail, they never replied but said that Booking.com charged the money, not them, which was not true since we received 4 e-mails from the site explaining that the property charged and considered the booking like nothing happened. Because of all what I mentioned before, the lack of respect and reliability, we write this so people can be aware of the type of management behind this Guest House. We would prevent future people who ask us for tips about accommodation to come to this place, for sure.

Lagos Marina Guest House is nestled in the historic port city of Lagos, situated along the scenic Bensafrim river. The guest house offers a serene atmosphere with comfortable rooms, well-equipped kitchen and bathroom facilities, and a charming terrace. It's conveniently located near Meia Praia Beach and just a short walk from the city center. Guests praise the friendly staff for creating a welcoming and familial environment that keeps them coming back.
What a lovely place! There's this familiar vibe all around the hostel. The beds are comfortable, the room it's quiet, the kitchen and bathroom are full equiped, and the terrace it's very nice. It's located outside the center (you would appreciate the silence) but super close of a beautiful beach. The staff it's very friendly and lovely! I initially went for 2 days but stayed 6 🤣 It has such a nice vibe!!! ☀️💕

We stayed in private room with ensuite bathroom, with parking available. It was very clean, spacious and with a lovely balcony. It looks like a family-run business, the owner is very friendly and gave us some nice recommendations. I would highly recommend!

It was terrible, we came at the hostel and everything was disgusting. The kitchen was not cleaned at all, the hotel sunk and was on the basement. We were there during the summer and it was really hot so ofc with only one really small window, it was awful. The only thing that was ok was the bathroom and the terrace. The location is ok but still you need to take taxis/Uber to go to the beaches. Sorry but for the price it was really not worth it. We don’t recommend it at all.

Blue Door Lagos Bed & Breakfast offers simple, informal rooms with a scenic rooftop terrace where guests can enjoy breakfast and a BBQ area. The B&B is conveniently located just 1.8 km from Marina de Lagos and less than 2.6 km from Ponta da Piedade Lighthouse. Guests have praised the clean, spacious, and well-equipped rooms, as well as the accommodating host Simao who provides excellent recommendations for activities, restaurants, and cafes in the area.
What a great experience staying at Blue door Lagos! Walking distance to old Town and the beach. Very friendly and helpful staff offering a great service and recommendations. The rooms were very clean and each have A/C! Simon was a tremendous host!

We came to Lagos to relax and rest, from our bad incidents in Lisbon. Lagos is beautiful. Blue door Lagos a ordinary small shared apartment but the people there, Iris and edite are beautiful souls, speaking to them and pick up life lessons , one or few and it’s all worth it. Hope you enjoy Lagos. Cheers

Had a wonderful stay at Blue Door Lagos with my partner. We got the fire room (double room with ensuite) which was clean, spacious, well equipped and comfortable. Every morning Simao would provide a wonderful breakfast selection. Myself and my partner are vegan and he catered wonderfully for our dietary requirements. Simao also went above and beyond to give us great advice on things to do around the town, restaurants and cafes to visit, and activities to do. The self catering facilities were great with cupboard and fridge space, utensils and a seating area. Super helpful to make lunch and dinners as we were on a budget. The location is good, only a short walk from the city centre and a manageable walk to 2-3 different beaches. I would highly recommend this accommodation!

Host Simao and the other employees were very friendly! Everything was taken care of, we even had beach blankets and umbrellas for each room. Simao is like a travel guide, great recommendations for beaches and restaurants! The location was also ideal, in a few minutes you can walk to the center and parking with the rental car was also problem-free! We felt very comfortable! Will definitely book here again when we come back to the Algarve :-)

This place has very convenient location in Lagos. You can easily park your car in front of the door as well. Hosts were amazing. We met 2 hosts during our trip and they gave nice suggestions for Lagos and Faro. They provide breakfast in a very close location and breakfast is also really nice Room was a bit small and bathroom was external but private(It was already known before we go but it is a bit weird)

I was left out on the street with my 73 year old mum by Simão. He completely ruined our holiday by being so greedy and unaccommodating - he tried to pocket €240 for two nights in a very, very average looking room. When we could not make the check in he tried to force us to cancel many times - do not listen to him when he says this because he tries to sell your room again...

Casa Mãe Hotel is a refined accommodation in the historic port of Lagos, offering individually styled rooms with balconies. The hotel features three different vibes for its accommodations: boho-chic cabanas, vintage Heritage Suites, and cosy minimalist rooms. Sustainability is a key focus here, with home-grown seasonal vegetables and close relationships with local suppliers. Guests can enjoy an outdoor pool and proximity to Meia Praia Beach and the city centre.
I cannot put into words how beautiful this boutique hotel is. My husband and I booked one of the cabanas for our honeymoon and it was the best decision we made during our travels in Portugal. From the moment you step in, you’re greeted with stunning decor, smiles from the staff, and a welcome glass of wine or other drink of your choosing. The staff let us store our bags, gave us many recommendations of things to do, and allowed us to enjoy the facilities as we waited to check-in. Our room was incredible, private, and very close to the pool. Every little detail, like the champagne, lavender bath salts, robes and slippers, and pastel de natas were an absolute treat! The pool is absolutely beautiful with many chairs and a pool side bar with delicious food. Our favorite part of our stay was the breakfast and BBQ. Every single bite we had here, we loved! My mouth is still watering. The farm to table concept is magnificent. The serving staff were always kind, polite, and accommodating. The dinner we had for their BBQ party was our favorite meal of the entire trip- I will always be dreaming of the sea bass. Lastly, the entire property almost feels like your own! It was so quiet, peaceful, and relaxing. It was also very walkable to the marina and bars/restaurants. HIGHLY recommend staying here! Book it, it’s worth it!

We have just spent an idyllic week at Casa Mae. We had not been before but are regular visitors to Lagos. This hotel exceeded all of our expectations in every regard. The extremely well thought out design and detail in every respect was a joy. The outdoor areas, particularly the amazing and well tended garden were truly beautiful. We were delighted with the simple and excellent food which was utterly lacking in pretention. The staff were charming and helpful and very attuned to the ethos of the hotel. The level of housekeeping throughout our stay was impeccable and the couple of nights where we were treated to some beautiful live Brazilian bossanova was an added bonus. Casa Mae is a lesson in pared back design and elegance. We loved it and are already planning our next stay! Thank you to all involved in making this a beautiful holiday for us.

My mother and I splurged on 4 nights in a cabana to celebrate my birthday in Lagos. We loved most amenities like the pool, private patio, and morning yoga/pilates class. Great eco vibe with garden on the peaceful quiet grounds, large room with thoughtful touches and indoor plants, and 10 min walk to city center or 10 min ride to beach. Kudos to the grill master for perfectly grilled steak on bbq night! The rooms are designed more so for couples in that the tub is out in the open and shower has glass, so lacks privacy but great for a romantic getaway if that’s your purpose. The downsides: too expensive for the service that you would expect from 5 star hotel. the reception staff seem young, bothered and don’t greet (with exception of one friendly/helpful female). Janky details like our front door knob was broken and shower doors don’t shut all the way plus ants crawling on the bed. Also this is definitely a great option for a special occasion but curious why the reason is requested on ALL platforms if they don’t acknowledge it. Our next hotel was half the price and I received a cute display with handwritten birthday card upon arrival. Otherwise, we loved our stay but I would stay elsewhere due to price if it were not a special occasion. Still gotta give credit —5 stars overall!
Arlene Y — Google review
From the moment we arrived we were treated like royalty. Love the special touches like a pillow menu, Smeg kettle with delicious tea, & arrival champagne. The pools are amazing, loved the breakfast and we had dinner on property one night as well and had the best time. Our room was in the main building and it was an open concept floorplan which we loved, very spacious, warm, and inviting. Our private patio was nice and our building had its own plunge pool which was refreshing. The little store inside was so cute too and we bought home paintings. My only observation that wasn’t 5 star was the range in experience level from the staff. There were clearly young interns that did not know how to properly provide service at that level to be considered 5 star (don’t know how to pour wine, for example) but we understand everyone has to start somewhere.

Idyllic experience! The hotel is located in a tipsy turvy location which took some careful driving to reach. But once there, everything was taken care of in the best ways. The rooms are modern and yet cozy, with a great coastal vibe. The entire property is lovely … there’s even a small farm that’s used for various products. The restaurant is fantastic. We ventured out once for dinner but it didn’t match the quality and choices of the hotel’s restaurant. The service here is excellent. Too many to name but cherise and Candela were always on hand for delicious food. I think the spa was definitely one of our highlights of our entire stay. Ana for a facial and Cynthia for all kinds of massages and body treatments. Wow. They are so skilled and take great care for an incredible experience. Honestly can’t say enough good things about them. The location is perfect. We walked to beaches and strolled around city center. The car was safely parked just on the other side of the wall. I highly recommend this beautiful hotel!

We had a great stay here! The property is beautiful and well kept. The staff were incredibly nice and responsive - and they made a number of great recommendations for activities and restaurants. We also really enjoyed our spa treatments. The location is in walking distance to everything in town and also right near free parking. If we return to Lagos, we would definitely stay here again.

We had a fabulous time at Casa Mae Hotel. The hotel is a hidden gem! It is beautiful & clean. The rooms were lovely! The staff was wonderful & the property gorgeous. They were more than happy to help with anything we needed. The pools were beautiful & the food is AMAZING. It is a short walk (@ 5 min) to town, (@10 min) to the marina (tours to the caves) & (@ 15 min) to the gorgeous beaches. We were close to all the sites I would highly recommend staying here!

This was probably one of the greatest hotel experiences I have ever had. First, the food. Incredible beyond, some of the best I’ve ever had in all my travels, best hotel food period. Everything is healthy, natural and unprocessed, locally grown and gathered. This is how food should be served everywhere. Staff were all friendly and kind, attentive, quick, clearly all happy to work there. The breakfast is open, but not buffet style, a la Carte. Which was better than any hotel buffet and more conscious of excess and waste. The rooms were calming and comfortable, we had a wonderful balcony with hammock. We enjoyed lounging at the pool. Loved having a yoga mat in the room (it’s above the closet space, don’t miss it!). And location was perfect, center of town. I cannot wait for our next stay, run don’t walk to stay at Casa Mae.

We loved this place. Great location. 5min drive to Luz and 10min drive to Lagos. Relaxing and quiet. Food was incredible. Staff was friendly and helpful. A few things I would recommend that would make the stay better in the future. First would be a shelf or stool in the show to shave legs and hold toiletries. Having to pick up the toiletries off the shower floor was a little annoying. Would love more hangers and hooks in the bathroom for towels and robes and bathing suits. We also did not see an electric charging station for cars. Would be very nice to have. I would also recommend screens on the balcony doors. We enjoyed the breeze and fresh air from the ocean but we had a few bugs in the room after we left the doors open. Otherwise I think this place is amazing and would recommend to anyone and would stay again next time we visit.

If you are looking to relax, unwind and retreat in peace, quiet, and privacy, whilst being surrounded by beautiful nature and landscaping - this is the place. I was lucky enough to hit a quiet period, so it felt perfect for my needs. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Had no issues with my gluten and dairy intolerance whilst still having a very good choice for breakfast. Lots of places to drive to in a short range for food variety or exploration.

A beautiful rural hotel with private guest access and spacious, well-kept gardens. The pool is small, but with only 15 rooms in the hotel, it never feels crowded. There are very comfortable Balinese-style loungers available. The lobby is stunning, with gorgeous decor that really sets the tone. Rooms are spacious, clean, and comfortable, with a large and pleasant shower. The room decor could be improved, as it doesn’t quite match the overall style of the hotel. Unfortunately, the hairdryer provided was low quality—not what you’d expect from a five-star property. We also encountered a significant ant problem in the hallway leading to two rooms, including ours. We reported it to the staff, who did their best to help, but they were aware of an ongoing infestation. It really needs to be addressed, as ants were getting into the room and even into our luggage. Despite that, our overall stay was wonderful.

Vila Valverde - Our Third Visit We recently completed our third stay at Vila Valverde Design & Country Hotel, and once again, we were thoroughly impressed. This place continues to deliver an outstanding experience, living up to its reputation as a luxurious and tranquil retreat in the heart of the Algarve. The moment we arrived, we were welcomed with the same warmth and professionalism that we’ve come to expect. The staff at Vila Valverde are exceptional, always attentive and eager to ensure that every aspect of our stay is perfect. The rooms are a highlight, offering a blend of modern comfort and rustic charm. Each room is meticulously maintained, with tasteful décor and amenities that make for a very comfortable stay. We especially appreciate the attention to detail, from the plush bedding to the stunning views from our balcony. Dining at the restaurant was, as always, a delightful experience. The menu features fresh, locally-sourced ingredients, and the dishes are both creative and delicious. The breakfast spread is impressive, with a variety of options to suit every palate. Dinner at the restaurant is a must-try, with gourmet dishes that highlight the flavors of the region.

I would like to start by saying you should take this review with a grain of salt. I recognize that this review is a matter of taste and preference, and the majority of reviewers were very fond of their stay (which is a big reason why we booked here to begin with). We intended to stay here for 3 nights, but ended up leaving a day earlier to stay somewhere a bit more...warm. While the grounds and outdoor space were certainly beautiful, there was something soulless about this hotel. If you are looking for something extremely quiet, this might be your spot. However, as travelers looking for more of a coastal, authentic Portuguese villa experience, this missed the mark. Breakfast was outside and uncomfortably quiet and stiff - when walking through the hotel, you felt as if you were being watched by the one or two staff members and it was, again, silent at all times (another reviewer mentioned borrowing silverware for a trip and being asked about it upon return, we had a similarly odd experience when walking around the grounds with water glasses from the room...it was bizarre). The space itself was vacuous, cold (figuratively) and a bit gaudy. The rooms were the same (and our bathroom was frankly dark and dank, and filled with ants) and certainly not 5 star quality. I am writing this because if you are looking for something with character and warm, bubbly customer service (something tasteful with a "countryside villa" feel), this might not be the spot. If you want a location to get away to for silence, to be alone, and you happen to like more modern and bold decor, this might very well be a good spot! Again, for almost no customer service and a generally "meh" experience, I am really surprised this is labelled as a 5 star hotel.
Fiorella J — Google review
We have mixed feelings about this hotel. On one side it is a beautiful hotel, wonderful furnished with a great location set in the hills. Spectacular view and so quiet, that you can really relax. The staff is very friendly and the food was awesome! But there were little things that didn't go well. My ironed shirts came back sloppy, but got done after I showed them. There was black mold on my bathtub corners and the handle was dirty, that got cleaned very well after I mentioned it to staff. We also had to share a terrasse with 4 other rooms. So no privacy, plus the smoke from the next door neighbor got in our room when windows cracked. But the main thing we were missing was that special touch of a 5 Star. It was more of a 4 Star experience in a 5 Star location.

Extremely nice golf resort. Apartment we stayed in was extremely spacious for 4 people, incredibly clean and well looked after. The golf course was really well kept and enjoyable to play. We were quite lucky and our apartment was fairly close but could’ve been quite a walk to and from the course however there was a shuttle bus you could catch. Would happily stay again and recommend to others.

This is only a review of the very outdated clubhouse with zero ambiance. It is in desperate need of an update into the 21st century. We went to the BBQ on Friday evening, which is overpriced. There were only 10 people there during the time we were there. This tells its own story. The same applied to the Saturday evening music 'event' which was equally as quiet. For a lovely golf course such as this, something need to change at the clubhouse. Apart from the staff who are great.

Lovely resorts and massive villas. One feels in a luxury place. I loved the quiet, private parking, the gardens and the pools. You need a car if you book here since it is outside the center but if you have a car it is a handful min drive.

The place was beautiful and super clean. The cleaning staff phenomenal for the unit, they left nothing undone. The grounds were immaculate, watered and maintained all the time. The bistro was close and the prices were reasonable. More importantly the food was very good. The bistro burger and their pizzas were excellent. It was probably the best burger I have had since COVID. The burger patty was super juicy and a nice pink inside. The caramel onions were just perfect for the burger and the fries were light and crisp. The main pool out front was nice, clean and always a good temperature. The only issues we had was the pool was not supervised so people were bringing glass on the deck, kicking soccer balls into the pool and diving, all clearly marked not allowed. The other issue was they were without soap in the changing rooms for the entire week. People would jar open the dispensers in hopes the crew would refill it, but not one time. Unfortunate for such a nice place. One final issue, Delta coffee. Our entire trip in Portugal and abroad had Nespresso coffee machines in the rooms. They are available everywhere and you can make an espresso or if you want, a full cup. Looks like Delta did some sponsorship so I had to buy new capsules for a machine only able to make a single shot espresso, including the cup to fit underneath. I drink espresso but the others in my party do not so we are making and then pouring and adding water from a kettle. The capsule are also more expensive and personally not as good as the Nespresso coffees.

This resort is so nice! I was a little concerned originally when booking because some recent negative reviews, but we had the best time! It deserves a lot more than the current 4.0 rating. Yes while the hotel is showing its age a little, it feels super cosy and the rooms were lovely and clean. The outdoor pool area is gorgeous and the poolside bar has a great cocktail selection and good prices. All the staff were helpful, welcoming and friendly. The breakfast offering was amazing! So many choices and everything was delicious. There is a massive free car park and a paid underground car park within a short walk. Overall 10/10, can’t wait to come back and visit again. Thank you 🙏

Hotel stars should be re-evaluated each year - I can absolutely see how this WAS a 4-star hotel but to claim that presently is reaching. The hotel is dated and sadly not being taken care of - it looks tattered and worn from the outside and while there are moments of great inside, it needs some reinvesting in. The beach club is a whole other disaster I mention below. When we checked in, there was live music happening that was so loud it made it impossible to hear the lovely gentleman at the front desk. He did tell us they upgraded our room which was nice. The room itself, didn’t feel like an upgrade. It was a “suite” which was 2 rooms but cold, sparsely furnished and very dated. As we got into our stay, it wasn’t just dated, things were broken (the ATM) and it just seemed like one thing after another. First, the shuttle to the “beach club” which we were told about upon check in and given a schedule for was broken and instead of informing the guests, there was a group of us sitting outside the lobby waiting and waiting until I finally went in to inquire and the young woman at the desk told me the large bus was broken and there was a smaller one making rounds and would be there soon. Not once did she mention (or anyone) that the pickup was not right out front but around the corner where there was ANOTHER uninformed group waiting that got on the small van forcing us to wait another 20 minutes. 45 minutes later, we were shuttled to a parking lot where we walked down a path to not a beach club but a small pool with a snack bar and cafe. We were told at check in to get towels from the pool at the hotel or the beach club, when we asked they refused and said we had to get them at the hotel. No one on our shuttle had towels from the hotel so it wasn’t just us AND the gentleman told me, quite rudely, that he’d “tell the hotel again but he doesn’t know how many times he can keep telling them” and that was that. 45 minute wait for an overprice warm beer, no towel and a “manager” that couldn’t care less. We ubered to a local beach bar and never looked back. The photos on the website of this hotel and the beach club cannot be from the last decade, it’s complete deception. When I tried reaching out to Tivoli at the corporate level, I got someone in Madrid who told me someone would reach out and that never happened. When we went to the Tivoli in Lisbon, we were blown away by the atmosphere, the food/drinks and service, we were thrilled to visit another location in Lagos - what a disappointment. The worst part is no one even asked us how our stay was when we check out. I don’t know who is managing this location but they could use some coaching from the Lisbon team.

Jet 2 holiday. My first visit, but friends had stayed before, so I wasn't put off by the negative reviews. We had a standard excell room on the fourth floor ( maybe because my friend had stayed before and had another booking) with a view over the rooftops towards the marina. The room was fine. Clean, serviced daily, nice bathroom with bath, air conditioning, complimentary water, mini bar, good wardrobe space and a private balcony. Superior rooms have hot drink facilities. Breakfast was excellent, although the hot food could be hotter. Bucks fizz was a nice touch. Good pool, which was very chilly, and sunbathing area, towels provided. Staff were all friendly and helpful. We were delighted that on our last day with a 7.30 am pick up, we were able to have some breakfast at 7am. I can understand why rooms at the front of the hotel could be noisy , as the hotel attracts groups of golfers. The hotel is also popular with Americans, who can be noisy. A very nice 5 night stay and I'd definitely go again. I almost forgot, the location is ideal, close to the marina, bars and restaurants and a short walk to the old town

I've spent many wonderful weeks at the Tivoli and look forward to returning soon. PROS: Staff - the reason guests return year after year. The entire staff (reception, food service, housekeeping, bartenders) are polite, helpful and friendly. They treat you like family. Hotel: While aged and in need of upgrades, the classic Moorish design features are a delight to be treasured. Bar: Perhaps the best in Lagos. Experienced bartenders and extensive drink selections (my favorite place :) Room & Bed: My room is comfortable, has a great view and a shower to die for. Value: The favorable room rates (at least in the off season) overshadow minor maintenance issues. CONS: Food - the breakfast buffet has ample options to satisfy any tastes but the quality is lacking. I can't recommend the dinner buffet or Italian restaurant. Maintenance: Could be improved but not a major downside. Misc: A personal issue for me is the repetitive loop of holiday music in the bar can be irritating. Also, the TV is ancient technology that needs to be replaced. The Tivoli Lagos is a great place to stay while visiting the Algarve and you'll be very happy with the choice.

The outdoor pool was peaceful, taken over by seagulls in the early early morning but I've seen the hotel bringing in a falconer as a deterrent. Indoor pool is mildly heated. Place is larger than a usual hotel so there's a bit of a walk from entrance to room. This place looks like its glory days were about 20 years ago, bit worn at the exteriors, but still holding up. Good location; good bang for buck. Breakfast buffet was large, three espresso machines, a honey comb platter to slowly drip honey into a collecting bowl, a gamut of deli meats, cheeses, hot breakfasts, champagne, pastries, everything is offered. The lounging areas were nice, sports playing as a projection on the far wall, some days there was live music. They have this program where if you deferred cleaning, you get a complimentary drink so that was nice. Would give 4.9/5. Staff were all very friendly.

Ill start with the positive, the breakfast is outstanding. Im a business traveler and the breakfast provided each morning by this hotel is among the best. Unfortunately my experience had some negatives that brought down the rating. First, in our room #33 you had to go up 6 or 7 stairs everytime you needed to use the restroom. Fine in the day but at night it was a bigger deal with no nightlight in the bathroom. The next big disappointment was the spa area. Mine was booked for 7:00 pm and it is downstairs in a very dingy area near the indoor pool which was also not in great shape. The basement was empty and at first i thought maybe the spa was closed and i had the wrong time. Fifteen minutes later the woman who did the massages came out of a room and said "Are you here for a spa? The walls in the area were very dirty desperately in need of a fresh coat of paint, the whole area (no staff) very run down and in need of an update. Lastly, im a small woman and the massage "bed", more like long thin table was very narrow and uncomfortable. I believe it was wood. My back hurt more after i left than when i came in. At first glance we were excited to use the outside pool until the first afternoon and every afternoon thereafter a large number (at least 10) of pigeons descended on it and stayed there squalking. Very crazy since the ocean was a short distance away. Lastly, i was mistakenly told there was no elevator from the 2nd floor down to the lobby area. (By a person in our group, not the hotel staff) Its a very wide beautiful staircase but my bag was over 49#. I awkwardly dropped the bag from step to step to get it down all the while being watched by 2 women and one man working at the reception desk. There was nobody in the lobby so i would have so much appreciated a hand with the bag or a call for help with the bag. Not a good overall experience.

Best hotel experience - we booked 35 rooms at the start of September as a group booking for our wedding and I must say the service, the rooms and the staff are exceptional! Everyone was soo friendly, soo helpful and we had the most seamless experience. The reception staff were amazing we were able to use their spaces around the hotel to gather our guests for games nights etc and they really accommodated for us. The hotel staff took away all the stress that any couple planning a destination wedding may have. In case the reception staff do not remember it it is Tina and Meetesh room 1523 booking from 30/08-05/09. Thank you for making our wedding stay a great one and that to for not only us but our 60 guests!

Booked with Tivoli through their own website and the prices were very reasonable. Went there with a friend for a 6 day stay and we enjoyed our stay with the resort very much! Upon arrival we got checked in very smoothly and even got some discount vouchers to use in the restaurant/bar. Very kind! The resort is big and we were guided to our room by a very friendly staff member. There is lots to do in the resort itself, an outside & inside pool, inside and outside bar, pool patio, an inside jacuzzi & even a gym facility. Note: there is a free parking lot for hotel guests only. It's only upon availability. They do have a paid parking garage for hotel guests for about 8 euros per vehicle per night. Did not use the inside facilities much, but it looked really nice! The breakfast buffet was very diverse! They even have glutenfree options (my friend has a gluten allergy) and it was handled very professionally. Unfortunately there is a problem with seagulls outside, but they were actively working on that problem. Just meant you could not leave your food unattended, or the seagulls would snatch it up. As for the room itself, it was fine for the nights we stayed, though it could have used some updates. I did miss a couple more electrical plugs, there is a USB A plug, but unfortunately most devices have the USB C plug. We made it work with charging devices but could've been better I suppose. The bathroom door had some wear and tear on it but it was clean! ` We made use of the Portugese restaurant within the hotel and it was mostly a grill kitchen which was so good!!! We loved our experience and it was great food. Also gave us an opportunity to use the vouchers we got during check in and it was well worth the money. All in all, we had a great stay in the hotel and would recommend others to book a stay here if you want to explore the Algarve coast. Or just stay and chill in Lagos!

In a prime location in Lagos, Hotel Dom Manuel I offers couples-only accommodation with dining, spa and outdoor pool. The traditional Portuguese tiles and painted walls give the property an elegant feel whilst the spacious rooms come complete with a balcony. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the hotel and breakfast is included in the price. Parking is available on site.
This was seriously one of the best hotels I’ve ever stayed at—pure luxury in the charming beach town of Lagos. The hospitality of the staff was a true highlight of our trip through Portugal. Breakfast was included and beautifully curated, adding to the overall experience. We stayed in the guest house, which had its own balcony and a small but stunning private pool. The shower, lined with white Portuguese tiles, was next level. I only spent one day here, but I’m already planning to come back for a full week to soak in every bit of the luxury!

This is a 3-star hotel in a peaceful area of Lagos. It’s about a 10-minute walk to Old Town, and also within walking distance to both the beach and several restaurants and supermarkets. While the hotel itself is 3 stars, the service and breakfast felt more like 5 stars. I’ve never been served cake at breakfast before – but here I was! I also really liked the fresh fruit and the separate table with vegetarian options. The hotel provides beach/pool towels that you can take to your room and swap for fresh ones whenever needed, which was very convenient. Since we had an early departure at 6 AM, we were asked to return the towels the day before. The lovely receptionist even offered us a breakfast bag we could pick up the evening before – such a thoughtful gesture! Our room was fresh, clean, and had a large balcony. The only small downside was a few cracks in the shower from wear and tear, but nothing serious. You could occasionally hear other guests in the hallway, so if you’re very sensitive to noise it’s worth noting, but for us it wasn’t a problem. The pool area was also very cute and cozy, perfect for relaxing after a day in town or at the beach. Overall, I would happily recommend this hotel to friends and family. You get exactly what you book – it’s not luxury, but for a 3-star hotel it really overdelivers, and we had a wonderful stay.

My friend and I loved our stay here. Comfortable rooms, short 10min walk to Old town. Also walking distance to Ponde da Piadade and beaches. The breakfast is INCREDIBLE. Small boutique hotels put a lot of effort into the food and service. Best place to stay in Lagos!

Beautiful small adults only hotel within walking distance of the town and beaches. It's 3 star but feels like you're in a 4 or 5 star hotel, the pool and pool area is nice, but small with only a few sunbeds (there is also another similar sized pool in a separate part of the hotel). The breakfast was amazing with so much choice and fresh every day, after 2pm there are small meals and snacks available. The bar area in the reception is very nice and the drink selection is good (not too expensive either). The staff were amazing, the very friendly reception team, the busy (and hot) restaurant team to the very, very busy cleaning team who did an amazing job every day, best of all was the friendly little resident ginger cat.

What a great hotel in authentic Portugese style. Very friendly staff, the breakfast is one of the best i had in my whole life. A lot of fresh products and several variants. Due to the old building, it’s a bit noisy. But overall a very pleasant place to stay.

I truly cannot recommend this hotel enough. Although parking was tricky to find, it is readily available. Despite being a more intimately sized hotel, the amenities, service level, and overall atmosphere transported me to a resort. There was something special about the level of attention given by staff that actually remembers your name and preferences. The breakfast alone is worth the stay. Rather than the typical continental spread that becomes monotonous after the first day, this hotel features a rotating menu that kept me anticipating each morning. The quality is exceptional—fresh, thoughtfully prepared, and varied enough to satisfy different tastes and dietary needs. I was not able to confirm this (as every morning I was enchanted by the menu) but I am certain everything is made IN-HOUSE.

Good, but honestly way over rated. I thought paying a little more to have the article Terrace would be nice... It wasn't. It smelled stale/moldy the whole time. The A/C can barely keep it cool and the spiral stair case to get to the room is super inconvenient. The room just isn't that nice. The grounds are very well maintained and beautiful, but on day 3 noticed the film on the top of the water on the pool suggesting it wasn't that clean. As others note the breakfast is impressive, but as also noted they don't keep the hot food hot... Which seems like a recipe for bacteria. Overall It was nice, but surprised how much everyone raves about the place. Maybe I've been spoiled by other elite places, but this one isn't quite elite.

We had the most relaxing holiday at Dom Manuel. From the moment we arrived we were met by the friendly and accommodating hotel staff, who throughout the trip checked in on us to ensure we were enjoying our stay and had everything we could possibly want or need. The grounds are like an oasis, with beautiful and lush landscaping surrounding the pool and grounds. Daily breakfast was fabulous, the spread was immense and delicious. The rooms were very clean, there was no shortage of linens for the room AND the beach (the hotel also supplies beach umbrellas if you ask which was so convenient). The location was perfectly situated between old town and Praia Dona Ana beach, though Camilo and Porto De Mos was easily walkable albeit longer but there’s no shortage of Ubers there. On top of all of this, the friendly and dedicated staff make this hotel the gem that it is and we hope to be back one day!

Nestled just a short stroll from the stunning Dona Ana Beach in Lagos, Costa d'Oiro Ambiance Village is an informal yet luxurious retreat that captures the essence of Mediterranean charm. This delightful hotel features beautifully designed villas surrounded by lush gardens and inviting terraces, creating a serene atmosphere perfect for relaxation. Guests can enjoy four outdoor pools, unwind in the hammam or sauna, and indulge at the on-site restaurant.
This is a very nice place to stay the room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. It was updated and has a kitchenette if you want to cook your own food. The Continental Breakfast was good with many choices. The only thing I would recommend is that they have the carpet also cover the sides of the bed, so that when you get up you’re not stepping on to a cold floor. The only other negative is that it’s not really in walking distance of restaurants and shops. You can walk to the ocean in about 15 to 20 minutes. I would definitely recommend staying here, it was comfortable and quiet.

We had dinner for two and each had a starter, main course and dessert, along with a glass of white wine with the starter and red wine with the main. The food was consistently delicious, beautifully presented, and of high quality. The staff were also extremely friendly and attentive, which added to the overall experience. The only minor downside was the price – €145 for two people is a bit on the high side compared to other places in the area. However, considering the quality and ambiance, it’s still acceptable. Overall, a lovely evening. If you appreciate good food, a relaxed atmosphere, and great service, this place is definitely worth a visit.

My wife and I stayed here for 4 nights during our first trip to Portugal, visiting from Canada. We have absolutely no complaints at all with this establishment. From the minute we dealt with Rebeca at the front reception, we knew we chose the right place. The staff was very helpful, the rooms were extremely clean and luxurious. The free breakfast every morning was healthy and tasty with plenty of options. The onsite pools and amenities were great and lastly the location was perfect. 5 min walk to the nearest beach and about 18-20 mins to downtown. We would highly recommend this hotel and will stay here again in the future!

When we first got to our room (#500) I noticed a/c wasn’t working properly. I asked Miguel to take a look. When he came into the room he raised his hand to check the temperature coming out of the unit and pronounced it as just fine. I told him that I didn’t feel like the air conditioning was working properly. He removed the batteries from the remote, put them back in and said it was working just fine. I could tell that there was no way this was going to get fixed and asked if we could change rooms. Miguel switched us to room 51. We went from a full kitchen in room #500, to a room (#51) with a hot plate, sink and a dorm size refrigerator with none of the amenities of the real kitchen in room 500. Every room in our current space was much smaller including the “living room,” kitchen, bedroom and bathroom. The whole effect was pretty depressing. Unfortunately for us our first night just got better as when I took a shower, the drain was clogged and the bathroom completely flooded. To add insult to injury, the water in our shower never got hot and would cycle between warm and cold approximately every ten seconds. I tried calling reception to make sure that this got addressed in the morning and despite calling three times received no answer. When I walked in the office the following day and introduced myself to Sarah, she was not remotely friendly and made no effort at all to apologize for the inconvenience we’d incurred. I expressed to her that I didn’t feel like the rooms were remotely similar in size, amenities and general comfort, much less aesthetics. Continuation of review: The only communication she engaged in was insisting to me that the rooms were the same class and the same cost. As you can tell from the pictures that is a bit of a stretch. This is a little like insisting that a new BMW is in the same class as a tired old Renault and that they should cost exactly the same. Reluctantly, she said she would extend us a $70 adjustment (on a $717 bill), because of the bathroom drain not working and the bathroom floor flooding. She extended this discount in nothing less than a begrudging fashion and treated me a surprising level of coolness. I sent three messages to Sarah in my attempt to get the hot water situation resolved and she completely ignored my messages and we didn’t have hot water for the three days of our stay. On the following day. I stopped by the office to try and get something we left behind during our move from room 500 to room 51. Sarah barely acknowledged and did a good job of giving me the cold shoulder once again. It was bad enough that our room made for a very unpleasant experience, but the way we were treated by Sarah really capped things off. I shouldn’t have been surprised, but the morning of our checkout I got our bill and there was no mention of the $70 discount and I had to send three emails to the director Rui to get that straightened out.

I was here back in 2017 and really really enjoyed the accommodation and was impressed by how luxurious the room was! Now, back in August 2024 I was in another house/ part of the village and was not impressed but the room at all! Very small, open bathroom, no privacy and no at all luxurious as expected for 260 Euros per night! I expected more for the money, actually taking into account that the price more than significantly increased since 2017. Nevertheless, the room was clean and breakfast was amazing. Thank you to the bartender for making amazing drinks. I am sure dinner at the restaurant would be very delicious as well.

The hotel features a restaurant serving generous buffet breakfasts and international cuisine, as well as a pool snack bar for summer lunches. Guests can enjoy the fully equipped fitness center, two outdoor pools, tennis court, table tennis, billiards, sauna area with Turkish bath and massage services.
Lovely quiet location, spotlessly clean, good dinner & excellent fresh breakfast with very good coffee (machine ) all the staff were helpful & friendly. Lovely service all round. Padel court , 2 lovely pools & nice lunch at the pool bar. There is a hill to negotiate to the village centre ( didn’t worry us too much as we were on a walking holiday anyway) bus stop just outside entrance & plentiful Ubers/ taxis about. Great little hotel & happy to recommend.

Lovely hotel. Rooms spacious and well presented and maintained. Staff were wonderful and helpful. Location good but not ideal if you have mobility issues as it’s a long walk down hill to beach area and restaurants and even longer back. You need those restaurants as the hotel restaurant is far from good which is such a shame as the rest is brilliant . Breakfast was excellent across the board with lots of choice. Pool area is well planned and quiet. Pool small but adequate if a slight chilly to get into but worth the effort.

From the moment we arrived, the staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. The room was immaculate, stylish, and surprisingly spacious, with one of the most comfortable beds I’ve ever slept in. Housekeeping kept everything spotless throughout our stay. The on-site restaurant served top-notch meals — seriously, don’t skip the breakfast. The pool area was clean and relaxing, with plenty of loungers and a great bar service. What truly stood out was the level of service — every team member was warm, helpful, and genuinely cared about our experience. If I had to nitpick, the only slight drawback was the distance to the beach. It’s walkable, but not ideal if you're looking to step out and immediately hit the sand. That said, the quality of the hotel more than makes up for it. We’d absolutely stay here again and recommend it without hesitation!

Nice location on top of the hill if you want to be outside of the (relative) hustle of Praia da Luz. Provides great views from the rooms/balconies, and a steady breeze. Family rooms were very spacious, recently refurbed, balcony was big enough to sit and enjoy an evening drink. Mainly couples and adult groups, but our kids were made welcome. Breakfast was really good, plenty of choice. Restaurant for dinner was excellent food, but very quiet. Pool bar is reasonably priced and a nice vibe. All the staff were friendly - All in all, excellent.

Nicely updated for the most part, though the bed was a bit too firm and could use updating. The showers were hot but not strong. Pool , bar and restaurant were excellent, staff friendly, and the rooms were very comfortable and the views are great. Spa is lovely and gym is nice but could use a few more weights. The padel court is an added bonus! Breakfast buffet twas 5/5!

Appalling service, I unfortunately left behind an expensive belt in my room and checked out. I phoned them the next day to request had it been found and was told they would contact me shortly. I was never contacted and I phoned them again . The receptionist Gabriel was vey rude and put the phone down on me. Appalling service with very rude staff on the front desk. No sign of a manager or someone with some manners

I have visited this hotel for many years and the new management have changed it too much. I believe for the traveler who wants a base to sleep in it is still good value for money. For an old time Portugal devotee of fine dining and cocktails in the evening, this is no longer a desired destination. Only 2/3 years ago, the restaurant had a menu to be proud of - non-residents booked for its quality of choice, chef skills and atmosphere. An excellent restaurant and chef have now been replaced by a cook with such a limited menu, that the only option for a non-fish lover are chicken or steak. Even the minimal menu, does not have full availability. Served sadly with a helping of non- negotiable, non-identifiable vegetables (maybe boiled aubergines and courgettes with a tin of carrots and peas thrown in is my best guess). Cocktails in the evening are not an option - the previous menu and skills discarded. Ingredients to make holiday treats, no longer even available. Everything was sadly no, it hadn’t been reordered. Bar snacks gone and no option to purchase anything. Oddly, the heath makeover of the resort does not extend to offering a choice of healthy eating - instead the same greasy chips were served noon and night with every meal, cheese oozed but fresh salad choices as main or side dishes were unavailable. The only respite was the oft requested ‘punched’ potatoes - less greasy but not to be confused with crushed, sautéed or any other restaurant quality side dishes you may have expected at a 4-star hotel. Staff remain amazing - 5 out of 5 for staff. If we hadn’t had mobility issues in our party, we would only have slept there.

If you can go out and eat in the town, this hotel is perfect for you. It's quite small, but have a lot of nice options. The Welness area is nice and renovated, at the gym you can make a nice training eventho they could buy a couple more weights. The rooms are nice, ok bed and good blackout curtains. Breakfast is nothing special, but frozen baked croissants with jams are ok as well as yoghurt with nuts and fruits. Restaurant food look bad so I didn't even try it. It's a nice walk to the beach and have quite big parking. Indian across the street is nice as well. One of the best hotels in the area i belive.

Top City Hostel & Suites in Lagos is the perfect spot for solo travelers looking for a vibrant and social atmosphere. The hostel offers simple dorms and private rooms, along with an outdoor terrace featuring a pool. With rooftop BBQs, themed parties, and meal nights, this hostel guarantees an amazing atmosphere where you can meet like-minded backpackers from around the world.
Stayed here as a female solo traveller and had the best few nights! The staff are so nice and the free breakfast was delicious. The location is great and there's so much do in the surrounding areas. Definitely ask the front desk for food recommendations, I had so much fun following their recs. My room had a terrace and the view was incredible, especially during sunrise. The roof top pool is insane and the common areas are great. I cannot rave about this place enough! It truly made my time in lagos.

Super friendly staff, plenty of activities scheduled (the pub crawl was very popular with like 30 people going!), very clean rooms. Great location by the beach and lots of gift shops, restaurants and small stores. Feels safe to walk around. Excellent rooftop pool with lots of seating. My only complaint is that the wifi in the rooms is not great, but it works fine in common areas. I would definitely stay here again!

Incredible Hostel, one of the best I have stayed in. The Staff here are amazing, they will help you in every way possible. I highly recommend joining the WhatsApp group to stay in the know about what the hostel has going on, as well as they give you recommendations on what you can do whilst you are there. Extremely clean place, they have a lovely roof terrace which includes a pool, bar and seating area. Nice place to catch an end of the day tan. Tiago runs the tour of the Bengal Caves, he is very knowledgeable and loves to talk about football if you’re into it! Lovely chap. Highly recommend joining the trip. It is good value for the €40. Breakfast in the morning is a nice touch and gets you ready for the day. There is a great food spot around the corner called “The Garden”, I advise you book the day before as it gets busy. The food and drink options are great there and it is very affordable!

A big hostel with lots of people but good organized, has good breakfast, good activites like bbq and pubcrawl, free welcome drink, cheap laundry service, kind staff. Yet beds are not comfortable, 1 euro deposit for plastic cups-even for the free welcome drink, toilets are not always so clean(i cant blame the hostel though, there are lots of people unaware of cleaning their own things). Anyways, 8.5/10.

kinda disappointed ngl, the staff at the front weren’t super friendly or welcoming. Also no curtains on the bed? Weird in a hostel. The AC in the room didn’t work so none of us slept at all at night despite telling the front desk of the issue. Also, the storage bins under the bed are super clumsy and open from the top. But when you slide it out from under the bed and open it, the lid may fall on your head. Happened to a few of us and kinda painful/dangerous/loud.

Jardim da Meia Praia is a charming apartment hotel that perfectly blends comfort with the beauty of nature. Located just a short drive from Marina de Lagos, this resort features 66 air-conditioned rooms surrounded by lush gardens and tropical palm trees. Guests can enjoy an outdoor pool, bar/restaurant, and tennis facilities while being only a leisurely stroll away from the stunning Meia Praia Beach.
The resort was very peaceful and the grounds nicely taken care of. About a 7 minute drive from the main town of Lagos and a couple minutes drive from the main beach Meia Praia. Upon arrival it was very clean and the kitchen was fully stocked with everything you needed to cook with. The Nespresso machine, capsules and milk were very much appreciated. The receptionists were very welcoming and accommodating with our requests.

Amazing place, so clean and cozy, with unlimited access to exotic swimming pool. Very good contact with landlord . I couldn’t imagine better place to spend my well deserved holiday 🌴🍹
Rufina — Google review
Great service and rooms look nice. The premises, however, have a complicated location to the beach and also have a strange gate system. For instance our building is the closest to gate 1 however the entrance in by gate 2 and all the gates have (for an unknown reason) different keys even though the whole place is connected. Also don't expect no keycards, old-school huge keys are what's used here so if you do travel with multiple people, beware you only have 1 key

This is our fourth time returning to Jardim da Meia Praia. We love it and could not recommend highly enough. Quiet, safe, spotlessly clean and well maintained. We plan to return again.

Amazing place , villa was lovely and well equipped, gardens were beautiful, great pool and kids pool , restaurant had lovely food at reasonable price , pool side bar was great especially happy hour , life guard and security guard always on duty ! Definitely hire car needed as it is 25 mins walk from town on a narrow dangerous road only wide enough for one car and no footpaths . Taxi 8-10 euro to the marina and town . If you want a quiet time in a self contained resort and lounge by the pool all day then this is perfect place !

The apartment was lovely very well equipped, dish washer , washing machine . Pool was lovely . Restaurant was good but quite expensive (meal for 2 adults 4 kids 130 euros) Paul who we booked it with was always on hand if we needed anything. Highly recommended this place and lagas was a 30 mins walk away was beautiful especially at night , the narrow streets many bars restaurants were all very good

My girlfriend and I were attending a family wedding in Lagos at the end of September last year (2015). We booked a place which we thought was purely functional, convenient location, somewhere to sleep when not with my family. We were very surprised. Jardim da Meia Praia has beautiful and spacious apartments. For less than €50 per night we had a 2 storey, 2 balcony, very large apartment. There was a washing machine, microwave, oven (with 4 cooking rings) and a fridge. In the fridge was two 1L cartons of milk and two 2L bottles of water. There were some oranges on the kitchen counter with a note explaining the story behind the oranges. They were delicious. The bed was very comfortable. The receptionist was friendly and helpful. The locks on the doors were solid. So solid that they do take some time to lock and unlock but at least you know that your stuff is safe. The only downside was the food in the little restaurant by the swimming pool (the swimming pool was lovely). We ate at the swimming pool restaurant while waiting to check in on our arrival. We did not eat there again. Food was low quality. If we are going to stay in Lagos again, we will definitely stay at Jardim da Meia Praia. You should too.

Unless you like isolation with very average apartments this is not the place to be. We visited in April with a famiy of 3 kids from 11 to 7 in age. The temp was mid-teens but the pool was freezing, there are no facilities other than a couple of games to occupy the kids and the Sat TV didn't work - really unhelpful as we had a couple of rainy days. As documented by others the distance to Lagos is 1.5Miles down a narrow windy road so unless you have a car (luckily we did) with no transport by the apartment or items like bikes to hire you will be stuffed. Additionally, no on site shop means for food you need a car at least. There is a sister hotel in Luz which we've stayed at previously and wish we had this time - I honestly can say this is the worst venue we've ever stayed at and when we asked to transfer were told this is not possible. The Luz hotel is situated in the town and has an indoor pool and gym ideal for occupying kids on wet days. Stay clear of this place unless you like isolation or come prepared

Olive Hostel Lagos is a charming retreat situated in the vibrant heart of Lagos' historic center, making it an ideal spot for travelers eager to connect with fellow adventurers. Just a stone's throw away from lively bars and restaurants, guests can easily immerse themselves in the city's dynamic social scene. This cozy hostel exudes a warm and inviting atmosphere that fosters friendships among visitors, creating a sense of home even while exploring new surroundings.
Had an excellent stay here. The vibes are wonderful and everyone is so friendly, including the staff. The location is nice - very close to everything. My room and bed were okay - not a ton of space and the bed moves and squeaks a lot when there's any movement from the top bunk, but otherwise it was good. The WiFi was great, as was the water temp and pressure in the shower. Highly recommend staying here!

My stay at Olive Hostel was fantastic. The most important thing to me was cleanliness and the staff at Olive Hostel were always cleaning so it was a perfect match. Extremely clean, friendly and welcoming staff, and beautiful decor. We were all in awe of how beautifully the place was decorated. The hostel has multiple floors so it feels very spacious with plenty of bathrooms. The photos don't do it justice. Thank you Olive Hostel staff!! Thank you Olive Hostel

This was a wonderful place to stay. Great staff, very friendly and stored our luggage for us when we got there early. Beautiful building and rooms, thoughtful decor, and it’s very clean and in a nice area. Great place to meet people and make friends. 10/10
Mady S — Google review
A nicely decorated, clean, and quiet hostel. However, as someone who has stayed in many different types of hostels before, I didn’t notice any particularly outstanding feature that would make me say “this was exceptional,” so I find the very high ratings a bit overrated. In my room, there was a fan instead of air conditioning — which actually turned out to be fine — but I couldn’t get rid of the damp smell in the room despite airing it out. There was no shampoo provided in the bathroom. Maybe it was just the period I stayed, but the other guests didn’t seem very eager to socialize. Of course, that’s not necessarily a bad thing, but for solo travelers hoping to meet people, this may not be the ideal place. On the positive side, the kitchen, bathrooms, and common areas were very clean, and the location was excellent. I didn’t hear any disturbing noise. It’s also nice that you can leave your backpack, use the bathroom and common areaz free of charge before check-in and after check-out. However, don’t count on being able to check in early. Overall, if you see the 4.8/5 rating and expect an unforgettable hostel experience, you might be a bit disappointed. But if you’re simply looking for a hostel that delivers what it should in a solid way, this is a good choice. My rating: 8.5/10.

Olive Hostel is the best hostel in the Algarve! Everything was super clean and the beds comfy. The staff is so welcoming and kind and it has a lot of community spaces (rooftop terrace, backyard sofa area, two kitchens). It was the only hostel where I could connect with other travelers, it made my stay very special. I will definitely come back ☺️

Such a great place to stay. Charming interior with old furnishing. Staff was lovely and very helpful. Great locations, close to everything. Offers a patio and a rooftop terrace. Has few bathrooms through out the house so never need to wait to get in. All is clean and well maintained. I booked with them directly and paid on arrival. Highly recommend and will be staying there again.

Cozy hostel, central location. Many pubs around so you’d need ear plugs to sleep. But apart from that, the place was well maintained and clean. The folks at the reception were lovely. They had so many activities for the travellers. Thankyou, Will definitely come back!

Nestled in the heart of Lagos, Infante Guesthouse is a charming retreat that perfectly blends comfort and convenience. Just a short stroll from Batata Beach, this delightful guesthouse boasts a stunning rooftop terrace offering panoramic views of Meia Praia beach and Portimao. Spread across two floors, it features five well-appointed rooms equipped with private bathrooms, complimentary toiletries, and free WiFi.
Infante Guest House was perfect! Our room was delightful - spacious, clean, bright and comfortable. The shared rooftop deck is a spot of heaven to relax, have a glass of wine, and read a book, while looking out over the beach and waterfront. The guesthouse is in the perfect location, and is short walk from everything. Marek’s welcome briefing pointed us to experiences we enjoyed (kayak tour, boardwalk cliff hike), and some terrific restaurants. We did not want to leave.

We had an amazing stay at Infante Guest House! The location is perfect, right in the heart of Lagos, and the views are stunning. The rooms are clean and comfortable. It’s definitely one of the best places to stay during a vacation in Lagos. Marek and Isabel are very welcoming! They provided us with good tips about Portugal and really cared a lot that we would feel ourselves comfortable here! The guesthouse is very comfy and beautiful with rooftop terrace where you can hear the live music of local musicians. We enjoyed a lot time there. Thank you!

We only stayed for one night, This was our first time using a b&b in Portugal and what a great experience, we wish we had booked longer, the whole house is spotless, the beds are so comfy!! The roof top view is beautiful. Can’t fault the property at all 10/10. Advice I would give is don’t drive to the property the roads are very narrow and very hard to find any spaces, find a parking space slightly outside of Lagos and it’s about a 10 minute walk in. Thank you so much to the lovely owners, the nicest couple, so friendly. We would definitely love to come back 😊 Chelsea & Jordan

This was the perfect place to stay in Lagos! You can spot Marek’s "German perfectionism" (just joking—kind of 😄) in every corner of the guesthouse. It was incredibly clean and well maintained. Thanks to their thoughtful guidance, I was able to explore Lagos without missing a thing. This guesthouse truly made my trip so much more enjoyable. Not only were they kind, but they also ran everything so smoothly and efficiently, which I really appreciated. I stayed in a single room—it offered great privacy while still giving access to the lovely rooftop bar and its easy ordering system. I wish I could’ve stayed longer! Definitely a place I’d love to come back to. See you again, Marek & Isabel!

Everything I could've asked for in Lagos! Location was great. Isabel & Marek are super friendly, kind and easy to communicate with. Shared rooftop was a huge benefit, traveling solo I wanted a nice spot to hangout during the day and this was perfect. Would recommend!!

Excellent hosts/owners, Marek and Isabel are very kind, caring, and have excellent recommendations - and stories! Incredible location, with some wonderful restaurants and beaches very nearby - we had no car and there was no problem, everything needed was a very short walk away. Rooftop is also delightful. The view is incredible and it’s a perfect place to chill out and enjoy the breeze on warmer afternoons, or wind down after a day at the beach. Overall, we had a lovely stay and should we find ourselves in Lagos again, would be back in a heartbeat. Thank you Marek and Isabel!

Absolutely lovely!! My husband and I were visiting for our 3rd wedding anniversary, and we had the best time staying here. The rooms were very comfortable and clean, we slept really well every night. The rooftop space where they serve breakfast is GORGEOUS and we watched the sunset there every night. Fernando had a lot of great recommendations for the area, he was so kind and hospitable, as were all the staff. We would stay here again in a heartbeat!

Suntrap Hostel, situated in Lagos, offers a sun terrace with city views and is conveniently located just 700 meters from Meia Praia Beach. The property provides free WiFi and a shared kitchen for guests. Its central location between the old town and the marina makes it easily accessible to various attractions and transportation hubs. The hostel's vintage villa exudes character, offering a well-equipped kitchen and a charming terrace for people-watching.
Loved my time at Suntrap! The owner was super friendly and a very nice man. You could tell he loves making a home away from home for travelers. The building is older but has a lot of character. I personally loved it. The only thing was the wifi doesn't reach to the bottom room so if you absolutely need wifi in your room, request an upper floor room. For me it pushed me more into the common spaces and to go out more so that even ended up working out. The location of the hostal is also really great being steps away from a great plaza, restaurants, and shops. I would 100% recommend this hostal especially for the price!

Hi, I had a terrible experience and i’m trying to reach out in order to settle the problem since some time now. I had a colony of bedbugs that bited me and those bites lasted two months. When I talked to the manager about it, he only switched my friends mattress and did nothing more to stop the invasion. So beware of the bedbugs there, they seem to spread and the management does nothing to stop it.

Great hostel the location is perfect few steps away from the tourists office between the old town and the marina also near the main coach and buses station in short quite central. The hostel is kept clean amenities include a well equipped kitchen and a lovely terrace The atmosphere is convivial all the in-mates were friendly and respectful of one another boundaries The Manager Edson is a great guy very helpful he will go above and beyond to make sure your stay runs smoothly.

It looked like such a nice place but I was unfortunate to get a bed in a room downstairs that was not at all like I expected. It is placed in a basement, basically, with no windows and very poor ventilation. It is a big shame, as I had really good expectations...

“It’s vintage, not old”. Suntrap hostel it was a pleasure staying in your characterful villa so ideally located in the heart of old town where we could cook up MasterChef meals and people watch from the terrace. Front desk was very helpful and friendly - even letting us keep our bags there after checkout! If you don’t mind a bit of creaking and want bang for your buck, Suntrap is the spot for you. Much obliged, we’ll be back!
Talia K — Google review
I really enjoyed this place. Though the building is old everything is clean and well maintained. The showers flow well, the beds are comfy. Edson is a chill and witty dude but also love to help you when you ask for any assistance. I also loved the fact I had the whole floor to myself in this time of the year, but that’s a personal preference. Oh and the view from the dorms is stunning ;)
Yair Y — Google review
The online photo's are very misleading. This place is very old and outdated. The worst thing is that it's dirty and unhygienic. Don't book here.
J B — Google review
I did write a review but have changed my mind over the place over the last few days. The hostel is fine for a few nights some where to chill out, meet some people and be in the heart of the town we had the 4 bed female dorm which was nice because we met 2 sisters who were awesome from Jordan. The only downfall about the room was it overlooked the terrace so if your thinking a quiet night sleep is in order then maybe think again. Also the common room is next to the dorm which qas a nightmare. I know the hostel can't control who stays there and it is out of there hands but some thoughtful rules could be put in place. The room needs to brushed and cleaned as the only maintenance it has is your bed changed for when you check in. I suppose the cockroach we saw is testament to that. All the staff are lovely bar one... but hey you can't have it all. On the all I'd stay in this area again just not this hostel. ...

Beautiful place, would definitely stay again. The property was spotless and they took lots of covid precautions. The owner was so friendly, accommodating and attentive - so welcoming! It was also very nice and quiet and I hardly heard or saw the other guests. The only small issue I had was that I was warned that due to covid the room would be cleaned less frequently (I think this is a really good idea and I don’t need my room cleaned every day) but I stayed 4 nights and it wasn’t cleaned at all. Because it was a beach holiday, by the end sand was everywhere so I wish it was cleaned once.

Nestled in the heart of Lagos, Villa Esmeralda Hotel is a charming Moorish-style retreat that offers an idyllic escape just steps away from Porto de Mos Beach. Surrounded by lush tropical gardens and featuring a solar-heated swimming pool, this delightful hotel boasts 12 uniquely decorated rooms and suites designed for ultimate comfort. Guests can unwind on the sun terrace while soaking in stunning views of the Atlantic Ocean.
I hesitate to recommend Villa Esmeralda only because my secret will be out. This is the MOST AMAZING place in Lagos. Natalie, the hotel director is so welcoming and attentive that you just want to stay forever. In addition, the villa is quiet and located at the top of the cliff in the Porto do Mos area. You have direct access to the beach from the property and the most beautiful views and sunset imaginable. There are two restaurants at the beach, which are very convenient because the hotel doesn’t have a restaurant, although you can order light snacks and salads from the kitchen until 9 pm. Every morning, the breakfast starts at 8:30 am, is super complete and you can request eggs however you like them. There is also a different special sweet treat. We had cappuccinos every morning. The center of Lagos is a few minutes away by car, but you can walk as well if you feel like it. We walked from the hotel to the Ponta da Piedade through the trail all the way to Camilo Beach. There is no need to rush at all while you’re at Villa Esmeralda. The place is designed for total relaxation. You will feel completely at home here and you won’t want the leave! Book room 5 or 16 if you can!

Coming home feeling The Villa Esmeralda is situated on a fantastic spot above Praia do mós. The house had a long story, being constructed more then 30y ago as privat summer house of Dona Patricia and her husband. From the beautiful garden there is a short walking path down to the Atlantic Ocean with a very nice beach area. At the time when the owners discovered the place and builded their villa, the surroundings was just landscape, nothing more. Over the last 25y and especially the last 15y, the constructions have extremely exploded which is steal petty for the spot. Villa Esmeralda has fantastic staff taking care to the guests.!The breakfast offer us a bit to reduced for a high class location like this one. WiFi free of charge but not really good availability. The price in June is on upper level for just overnight+BreZkfasr

Our stay at Quinta Bonita was truly unforgettable. The property itself is stunning — surrounded by beautifully landscaped gardens, peaceful views, and a calm, luxurious atmosphere that makes you instantly relax. What made the experience exceptional, though, was the team. Tania and Monica were outstanding — warm, welcoming, and incredibly attentive to every detail. They made us feel at home from the moment we arrived and went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed. The chef's staff also deserve a special mention. Every meal was beautifully prepared and thoughtfully presented. The breakfasts and dinners were a highlight — fresh, local ingredients, and always served with a smile. The place is gorgeous; staff are super friendly and helpful (big shoutout to the owner Chantelle and one of her staff Tanya). Chantelle is an amazing wedding planner. She is efficient and super organised! We were super relax during our wedding day because she took care of everything perfectly. She also recommended us with the best wedding suppliers (cake, catering, marquee etc). The breakfast and bbq made by their own chef were amazingly delicious. It could literally be sufficient for a casual wedding meal. We would definitely go back again when we go back to Lagos.

Hard to fault, we had a lovely stay here and can’t recommend highly enough. Ideal spot for a romantic getaway or tranquil base while exploring the Algarve. It’s in the countryside but literally only 5 mins to supermarkets and town amenities and then only another 5 mins to one of the nicest swimming beaches and not much further to the famous breathtaking seaside cliffs and grottos. The staff are very knowledgeable and helpful, able to provide great ideas and maps of the best local gems and road trips. There’s also a stunning yoga studio and the opportunity to book the entire property for a group or wedding, I can’t imagine a more picturesque spot in this area or such high quality people on site. We loved our time here and wish we could have stayed longer.

We loved our stay in Quinta Bonita! The place is very quiet and beautiful. We were met by Klaudia during our check in and she was sweet enough to show us around the property as well as to make sure that all our needs are taken care of. We also met the owner, Chantelle, and we couldn't be any more thankful for all the beautiful recommendations that she gave on where to go and to eat. They provide very good breakfast as well so that is not one to miss! What we love most about this place is the feeling of having a home away from home. The atmosphere is just so pleasant. We would definitely stay here again if we are ever back in the Algarve.

I can't recommend this place enough! It's absolutely idyllic - gorgeous gardens, fountains, and pool. The service is excellent and everyone was so friendly. Rooms are bright and airy with comfy beds. We also enjoyed excellent facials and yoga. I'll definitely be back!

Nestled in the heart of Lagos, Casinha D'Avó Guesthouse is a charming retreat that perfectly captures the essence of this vibrant Algarve town. Surrounded by stunning beaches and the iconic cliffs of Ponta da Piedade, it offers an ideal base for exploring. The guesthouse boasts bright and cozy accommodations adorned with personal touches from Mariana, your delightful host who goes above and beyond to ensure a memorable stay.
Excellent location near the Marina, Batata, Dona Ana and Pinhao beaches. Cute romantic bedrooms. Mariana is a lovely host and puts her personality into the rooms and in your stay. We stayed on Christmas day and she baked her grandma's carrot and walnut cake. All this for a very reasonable price. Recommend you go to Lagos off-season (October to May)

Location - just as you enter old town in front of square Parking - only a few spots on street so you need to park offsite 3min walk (free) Bathroom - great water pressure, hot water Bed - great mattress! Room - spacious, lots of shelves for clothing, large mirror, sockets by bedside Air conditioning - strong, cold room quickly Clean, ok decor, Noise level - quiet after dark Bathroom - suggest install shower handle easier to get soap out of hard to reach areas. It’s small but functional Lack of fresh air - ground floor bedroom window opens directly to street and people walking by can see inside or reach inside lol if window open Noise level - a bit noisy daytime it’s on street Hostess - I asked her 2x for her restaurant and beach recommendations before arriving so I can plan my week but she sent them only after checkin

- Rooms: unfortunately this is the worst of it. They are teeny tiny you barely have space to move around your bed, no cupboard, only a small piece of furniture with some hangers, and tiny night tables. The bathrooms equally small. At least there is AC and it was clean. - Service: simple self-checkin system to collect they key in a padlock box. the manager was super helpful though and supportive and give recommendations for sightseeing, beaches and boat tours. - Location: very good, a few minutes of downtown and 10-15 away from the main beaches. Safe area, more or less quiet and with stores in the square nearby. - The offered parking was a bit misleading as it is just a street 5 mins away where if you can find a spot (not that easy at certain hours) you can park on the street with no charge. But be aware, just to unload your baggage it is a pain because the house is in a narrow street. - Overall impressions: I was slightly disappointed as this place was not cheap at all, it has few commodities and the room was quite uncomfortable because of its tiny size. Still it is not a bad place and it's great location is a plus.

Adorable grandmothers home converted into guesthouse! Mariana was very sweet and helpful and the place was newly renovated, clean and quiet and in a great location to explore Lagos. There is a small kitchen and balcony for shared use.

Had the room on ground floor overlooking the square - cant open the curtains or window room was very stuffy. People talking loudly in the square until 4am. Room is by the entrance so also woken up by everyone walking in. Very thin walls. Hot and stuffy. Parking is in the city, wherever you can find. In my case quite far away. Have not seen the host the whole time - just took the key from a box outside.

Such a wonderful experience. Room was clean and beautiful. The host, Mariana was such a huge help. She order an airport shuttle for us, made sure we were able to enter our room regardless of our late arrival, and sat with us to give us all the best recommendations in the city. Incredible experience.

Nicely decorated, nicely located, and Mariana was helpful with suggestions. However...we stayed in the Ti Bia suite, and our stay was ruined by the presence of a shared balcony directly outside of our window. We had ZERO privacy the whole time we were there. We had to keep the curtains shut the whole time, and even then, we could hear all of the conversations going on out there. It felt like sleeping in a bus station. A recommendation: that balcony should only be accessible by people staying in the Ti Bia suite. Or, if you decide to book here, make sure you don't stay in the Ti Bia suite.

Superb and cozy. The host is really kind and very helpful. She will give you the best restaurants and beaches to visit around the Casinha. You can reach every beaches and restaurants frome Lagos by simply walking a few minutes. I would go back anytime !
