Danish restaurant
Restaurant Schønnemann is a historic and iconic eatery in Copenhagen, dating back to 1877. It's renowned for its traditional Danish smørrebrød (open sandwiches) and aquavit. The menu offers a wide selection of classic open-faced sandwiches, such as pickled herring, shrimp, and potato smørrebrød, all made with organic ingredients. The restaurant boasts an extensive beverage selection including 24 beers and over 140 types of aquavit.
We ended up here on recommendation - quite spontaneously and without a reservation. Apparently we were quite lucky, based on what other guests said on the doorstep, who had all booked several weeks in advance! The restaurant is a little off the beaten track in one of the many side streets and is also quite inconspicuous from the outside. Inside, however, it impresses with its typical, traditional Danish interior. First of all, the service is terrific! Outstanding! On a par with many Michelin star restaurants. Polite, humorous, helpful, super fast and quite discreet! The menu includes many traditional Danish smørrebrød and other regional specialties! If you want to have a private and quiet conversation, you should perhaps look around for a quieter alternative. But if you prefer the sociable, sometimes noisy hustle and bustle, you'll feel right at home here. Very nice ambience, good atmosphere and really excellent food! Anyone in Copenhagen should definitely stop by here! Not cheap, but fair for the quality on offer! Clear recommendation!
Veit B — Google review
Nice place to have lunch, seems popular with both tourists and locals. We did not make reservation and were lucky to have a table for a hour plus which was enough. Very friendly and good service and delicious food. We were recommended to try the colourless spirit which matches the food well. Highly recommended.
LF — Google review
Very nice place to try traditional herring and open sandwiches. Some sandwiches are really big enough, I would rather say that it is not a sandwich, but a core dish. The atmosphere is perfect, the reservation is easy to make. My best recommendations for visiting this place
Olga C — Google review
We had a wonderful and truly authentic lunch at Schønnemann. It was the best pork belly I’ve ever had in my life. Warmest recommendations for this restaurant – we will come back for sure.
Raphael B — Google review
Highly recommend. Come hungry Outstanding food, well balanced in terms of flavours, textures The roast beef was likely the best open sandwich I have ever had in my life. The duck and and cheese sandwiches were also divine Excellent thoughtful service
Eric B — Google review
Long time since my last visit. This time on A Monday for early lunch. When making the reservation I got on a waiting list so happy to get a table. The place is very nice and superpopular so a reservation is needed - an early one. Great big menu of food, drinks and snaps. Will be back again.
Simen S — Google review
Schønnemann in Copenhagen is more than just a place to eat; it's an experience defined by exceptional service and outstanding cuisine. From the moment you step through the door, you are met with a warmth and attentiveness that is genuinely lovely, making you feel welcomed and cared for throughout your entire meal. The food itself is a testament to quality ingredients and careful preparation. I had the tenderloin pork with mushrooms, and it was a dish of pure comfort and sophistication. The pork was cooked to perfection, incredibly tender and juicy, with a delicate, savory flavor that spoke to its quality. Paired with it were perfectly sautéed mushrooms, which were rich and earthy, providing a wonderful textural and flavor contrast to the succulent pork. The combination was simple yet flawless, with each component enhancing the other to create a dish that was both hearty and refined. Overall, Schønnemann stands out not only for its delicious food but for the genuine hospitality of its team. The combination of the tenderloin pork with mushrooms and the lovely service made for a truly wonderful dining experience. It's a place I would highly recommend to anyone looking for an authentic danish meal that feels both special and satisfying.
Dawn T — Google review
Everything about the place was lovely. The service was spot on and the kind waiter adapted switch even to Swedish to communicate with us. The food tasted amazing and he surely recommended us nice dishes. On top of that we forgot our sunglasses at the restaurant and they waited 15 minutes after closing for us to pick up the sunglasses. Very nice place and happy to have visited it :)

Fine dining restaurant
Aamanns 1921 is a renowned restaurant in Copenhagen, known for its traditional and contemporary Danish cuisine. The establishment offers a variety of classic dishes made with fresh, local ingredients, but it's most famous for its creative take on smorrebrod, an open-faced sandwich. The signature dish features grilled sirloin with fried eggs, mushrooms, and roasted pumpkins and is considered one of the best in the city.
I went with a local friend, and it’s clear why this place is so well-regarded. They specialize in smørrebrød, the Danish type of tartine with varieties for every taste: fish, meat, veggie. They’re also very accommodating, offering gluten-free and lactose-free versions of their smørrebrød. A special bonus: they even have their own Aquavit (Danish schnapps), which adds a nice authentic touch to the experience. The staff is lovely and the restaurant is spacious, though I’d still recommend making a reservation.
Michel P — Google review
We had the 8-course tasting menu. Apparently the dishes were designed by the restaurant to be shared. This concept worked reasonably well for the starters, but it did not felt right for the main course, which was unfortunately served cold. Overall, the execution of the menu didn’t quite meet our expectations. The service was warm and professional. However, our table was placed in a corner and we were often overlooked, which made it difficult to get the staff’s attention at times. All in all, a mix of thoughtful ideas and good service, but the experience didn’t fully deliver.
Patrick E — Google review
The shrimp open sandwich is heavenly good! Even the shadow is artistic! I wanna go back and try it again It’s weird though, that although there are empty seats, walk in guests were told that it was fully booked. Until I finished my meal, the seats were still empty. Maybe they thought everyone wanted a 2-3 hour proper dinner so there wasn’t enough time for that.
Huilian Q — Google review
An excellent restaurant that caters to all tastes. It’s very well priced compared to some of the other restaurants in Copenhagen. The desserts are a must try, especially the one with Danish chocolate on brioche bread.
Shayan K — Google review
I had the 8-course menu and was absolutely delighted – both by the extraordinary flavors and the outstanding service. Every dish was a surprise in the best way possible, and the staff made the whole evening even more enjoyable. A truly memorable dining experience!
Laura J — Google review
Had an amazing time at Aamanns! Trying the Smørrebrød for first time and it was delicious. The service was excellent and very attentive. They have the option for lunch menu which I choose. It lets you choose 2 savoury Smørrebrød and one sweet. I had the traditional salmon one ofcourse which was excellent and very fresh and they kindly also made the chicken salad one without bacon. Will definitely visit again if I am ever back to Copenhagen.
Aakarshika S — Google review
charging 70dkk for water is a lot. Food was good but overpriced. Them not giving a full basket of rye bread for the most expensive thing on the menu also feels insane. Especially because you are allowed to get more but they have to serve it to you like you are getting meat at a buffet is not a classy experience. I wish they would not do the random efforts to make more money when they already charging 200+ for something that cost them 25dkk to make. The salmon is the best on the menu btw to anyone who might be reading this. She also seemed a bit weird about me tipping 40dkk but I just don't think we have tipping culture in Denmark so I just did cause she didn't do anything bad. She seemed stressed out tho. I will end by saying that the cook is very gifted but that I think other aspects are lacking.

What a stunning restaurant - modern, elegant, and filled with natural light. Aamanns 1921 was recommended to us by a Danish friend, and as visitors from Australia, we were very pleased with our experience here. The food was outstanding - beautifully presented, rich in flavour, and clearly made with high-quality ingredients. Our waitress was not only attentive but also very knowledgeable, taking time to explain the dishes and share insights. It was a true fine dining experience with a Nordic twist. Highly recommend to anyone visiting Copenhagen!

Danish restaurant
Bar
Selma is a popular restaurant in Copenhagen known for its innovative take on traditional Danish cuisine, particularly smorrebrod. The restaurant has gained recognition for its high-quality dishes and was awarded the best smorrebrod in town in 2021. Partnering with Mikkeller, Selma offers a selection of draft artisan ales from various micro-breweries to complement its menu.
We tried all six herring smørrebrød options at Selma, and it was a truly memorable culinary experience. Each dish offered a unique blend of traditional Danish flavours with a fresh, modern twist. Among the selection, the Beetroot and hibiscus herring stood out for its fresh, floral notes. Equally impressive was the Fennel and black pepper herring, which was beautifully creamy and perfectly balanced with a touch of spice. While every variation was worth trying, these two are my favourite. The very kind staff walked us through each dish, explaining the ingredients, techniques, and inspirations behind bites. Their enthusiasm for the food truly enhanced our appreciation of the meal. To finish, we shared a small cheese platter, which featured two kinds of cheese and slices of bread—just enough to end on a rich, satisfying note without feeling too heavy. We're glad we didn't skip it! If you're curious about modern interpretations of this classic Danish food, Selma is absolutely worth a visit!
Borislava B — Google review
Selma is a great place to get a taste of Nordic food. The flavors were good and it is definitely a nice spot to experience this style of cuisine. With the number of amazing restaurants in Copenhagen it is hard to be truly impressed, so while it was decent and not overwhelming. I would suggest adding The beverage pairing option
Salwa L — Google review
Exceedingly delicious! We opted for the smorgasbord instead of the fixed menu and it did not disappoint. Highlights were the salmon, herring with pickled rhubarb and veal tongue with peas. The restaurant is quite petite and oh so lovely inside. Not a bad seat in the house.
Melanie F — Google review
I have not had such delicious, original smørrebrød anywhere else. This is high end cuisine, possibly my favorite restaurant in Copenhagen.
Malvina G — Google review
Selma offers a creative and modern twist on the classic Danish smørrebrød. The dishes are beautifully prepared, full of flavor, and perfect for exploring traditional cuisine in a new way. They also have a great selection of local beers. The wine list is extensive, the service is top-notch, and the space is stylish and welcoming
Catalina P — Google review
Delicious and inspired takes on traditional open-faced sandwiches. Exceptional service and calm, low-key vibes. As a vegetarian I recommend their creative and tasty celeriac option. Also a great selection of friend and pickled herring.
Jesper E — Google review
The place is very nice and the food is delicious. We liked very much beetroot, chicken, beef and herring. We didnt like so much potato and the cabbage, although the cabbage with the chicken one was great! Also the service was not so good, they forgot to put the plates for us when the food arrived and we waited until the second waitress came, we asked for some ingridients in the dish but the waitress couldnt remember what exactly is in it. We payed 200€ for 7 types of smorrebrod and two glasses of wine
Karla B — Google review
Absolutely delicious and inventive Smørrebrød, I wish I could have tried them all! Beautiful decor inside too. We got the elderflower herring, fried herring, salmon, and one with inexplicable vegetables and brown butter that was simply stunning. Highly recommend any dish with brown butter, they apply it tableside!

Danish restaurant
Told & Snaps, located on Toldbogade near Nyhavn in Copenhagen, offers a cozy and traditional Danish dining experience. The venue features dark-wood paneling, candlelit ambiance, and portraits of Danish royals. It is a popular spot for lunch among business professionals and offers a pub-like atmosphere. The menu includes classic open-faced sandwiches like Icelandic smoked salmon on rye with fresh horseradish at reasonable prices.
This is a great little gem with outstanding food and excellent service. I tried the traditional liver dish, which was perfectly cooked and full of flavor—definitely a rare find these days. For dessert, I had the apple crisp, and it did not disappoint! It was warm, comforting, and just the right amount of sweetness. Both dishes were absolutely delicious and showcased thoughtful preparation and care. If you're looking for something unique that you don't come across every day, this place is a must-visit. Highly recommend it!

Food open sandwiches, Danish style. Good quality fillings. Tiny portions for the price. One can do better in Nyhavn, with all it's restaurants.
Thomas B — Google review
We loved Told & Snaps. We had fantastic herring with shots of homemade snaps—one with dill and the other with lemon and thyme. And we very much enjoyed the attentive service. Definitely an authentic spot to visit in Nyhavn, rather than ending up in some of the tourist traps in the area.

Takeout Restaurant
Nestled in the vibrant Kongens Nytorv area of Copenhagen, Restaurant Palægade is a culinary gem that celebrates Danish cuisine with its exquisite smørrebrød, or open-faced sandwiches. Since its inception in 2016, this charming eatery has captivated locals and visitors alike with its commitment to quality and flavor. The menu boasts over 40 varieties of smørrebrød, featuring everything from traditional herring to succulent tenderloin topped with mushrooms.
Quite possibly the best smørrebrød I’ve ever had! We didn’t have a reservation and tried to get in on a Friday afternoon. Restaurant was packed and we waited for about 15 mins for a table that didn’t show up. Lucky us! Highly recommend the dishes here that we have tried. We liked it so much we wanted to order a 2nd portion of the tomato dish but unfortunately the kitchen was already closed. We enjoyed our time here so much we are planning to visit again, hopefully for dinner in the next week.
KW T — Google review
We had the tasting menu in September 2024 when visiting Denmark, with some adjustments made by the chef to make it halal for myself and my husband. And they kept it normal menu for my in-laws as they are not Muslims. Was very accommodating and friendly staff, they keep your glasses full and stomach satisfied. My father in law recently visited Copenhagen for work, and dined the restaurant again and loved it again. It is also very reasonably priced and very filling. Highly recommended!
H ! — Google review
I arrived without a reservation, and even though the restaurant was full, they managed to accommodate me. The food was delicious—I ordered the course menu. Handmade bread was delicious, , but butter was too salty. Some plates took a bit long to arrive, but it was worth the wait, all were delicious! Service was excellent
Leandro G — Google review
Five star food, and top notch service. Superb oysters! Fabulous craft beer. But after this delicious pricey meal, I ate an entire hamburger with fries in our hotel room, because the restaurant’s portions are sooo small.
Marla T — Google review
We stumbled on this michellin star restaurant by accident with no reservations but were seated with no wait. Incredibly child friendly for an 8 year old though no kids menu. No pretentious dress code. Food was delicious. Even my picky child ate the food. Portions are small. They recommend 2-3 plates per person and they do charge for water.
Caroline L — Google review
Hands down, the best food I had in my Copenhagen trip. The famous open bread sandwich was out of the world. Excellent service too.

I visited alone but all the staff were welcoming and attentive, so I enjoyed relaxing time. Monkfish had like a bit of posh French taste, so was luxurious meal. Could say the best place in Copenhagen.

Modern European restaurant
Nestled in the heart of Copenhagen, Restaurant Koefoed shines as a delightful tribute to the picturesque island of Bornholm. Housed in a charmingly transformed former coal cellar, this elegant eatery immerses guests in the rich culinary traditions of its namesake island. With an enticing menu that features the iconic Bornholm open sandwich and highlights like Sol over Gudhjem—Bornholm's national dish—dining here is a journey through local flavors.
We enjoyed the tasting menu at Restaurant Koefoed—beautifully orchestrated, thoughtfully presented, and full of flavour. The Bornholm-inspired setting with its vaulted white arches added to the charm, and the warm service made for a truly lovely evening. I highly recommend it for anyone looking for an exceptional dining experience in Copenhagen!
Inger H — Google review
It was a great experience in this restaurant, it was a second time here after 2 years, and it met the expectations again, From my point of view, it presents the danish cousin in a great way, Great combination of excellent ingredients, amazing atmosphere, and a great value for money. We will come back again for sure
Amos A — Google review
While this restaurant does have a Michelin Bib Gourmand designation (and has for several of the last years) I definitely felt like the experience could have been better. We did the tasting menu and the food was really good. Aside from one dish in which the flavors didn’t come together, every other dish was phenomenal. The veal and chicken dishes were definitely the standout. The veal in particular was incredibly flavorful and tender. The main issue arose with the service. At one point our waitress disappointed. I don’t want happened and no one said anything. She was gone for so long that the sommelier wound up being our de-facto waiter, which he was doing as best he could. However, because he was not with us the entire evening there was a massive delay between two plates; he actually had to ask if what dish we were on in the tasting. At the end of the evening when we finished dessert, we waited so long we ultimately had to get up and ask for the check. Overall this was a really good meal but for the price and designation, the service should match and this was not. I understand not wanting to be overbearing, but this was borderline non-existent.
Jason R — Google review
Have realistic expectations. They serve danish food not french or Italian so despite being fine dining it is less interesting. Food was good but far from amazing, I wouldn’t come back. The atmosphere is very relaxed, people didn’t dress up
Dóra S — Google review
Most of the courses were great and we enjoyed it. The flounder was clearly rotten which we mentioned and it was ignored unfortunetely. Most of it went into their sink via puke. But overall we were happy with the fish menu and the wine pairing. But ignoring rotten fish is strange that’s why it’s only 1 star.
Baldur — Google review
In a windy day, it is perfect place to have some comfort food. We ordered some butter bread with seafood, fish, roast beef and chicken. I think the roast beef is cooked perfect, well balance flavour. But the chicken skin with pickle is the best combination I never thought would be before. The oil of the skin plus the sour of the pickle perfectly balanced. Really enjoy the food, the service, and decor. Just the still water is a bit pricy
Richard D — Google review
Lovely restaurant, very well designed menu, with very tasty and pretty dishes, well balanced flavors and acidity and fattiness, and very kind and professional staff. Totally recommend!

This restaurant is the most popular one among the row of eateries near Nyhavn. They offer outdoor seating with heating, and tourists who feel cold can request to sit indoors. The indoor area is relatively warmer, but not warm enough to take off your coat completely. A diner at the next table confidently took off their coat after seating, only to feel cold again and put it back on after ordering… 🐟Fish & Chips This seems to be the main highlight on the menu. I’m not sure if the menu has changed, but when I visited, they no longer offered the lamb chops or steak that previous diners had posted online. I even showed the server a photo, but was told they don’t serve those items. The fried fish was done in a home-style way — the breadcrumb coating was relatively thin, allowing the flavor of the fish to come through. Diners get two pieces of fish, which is a decent portion. However, anyone who has dined at a Gordon Ramsay restaurant would know that even simple fish and chips can be elevated in creativity and execution. The sauce served with the fish and chips wasn’t as good as the one served with another main course: 🍔Beef Burger This dish had a more creative sauce pairing — the avocado 🥑 had a creamy, milky flavor that gave the fries a richer taste. The patty was made of ground beef, not whole-cut steak, and it was not fully cooked — parts of it were still raw. While raw beef can offer a smoother texture, diners who dislike raw meat may avoid this option. The burger came with raw arugula, which has a slightly bitter taste that helped balance the greasiness of the beef. 🧋Hot Chocolate Incredibly rich and intense — a must-try for those who don’t like coffee. A hot sip of this thick chocolate drink in cold weather instantly boosts your happiness. It even comes topped with cold milk foam, adding another layer of texture. The restaurant also has a very well-equipped restroom. There's hot water, soap, and even paper towels for drying your hands. However, the gender signs on the door are written in the local language, so tourists who don’t understand Danish may enter the wrong restroom by mistake. It’s recommended that the restaurant add clear male/female signage, especially since the place receives so many tourists. Overall, this restaurant offers well-prepared, high-quality food — it’s a safe choice with no unpleasant surprises. That said, it’s not the most cost-effective. You could get similar quality ingredients for about two-thirds of the price in Singapore, and even cheaper elsewhere. Of course, low value-for-money is a general issue in this area, not something unique to this restaurant.

Outdoor seats are fantastic, indoor seats are very comfortable and amazing! The atmosphere of environment is very attractive! Frankly the food is ordinary but it is a very charming restaurant that I’d like to recommend!

A wonderful Nyhavn find with canal views and a calmer atmosphere than some neighbors. When visiting, do keep in mind it is located in one of the more touristy, lively spots in town. Staff were genuinely friendly and attentive, creating a relaxed dining experience. I had a beef tartar followed by a vegetarian risotto, both excellent, paired with a South African Pinot Noir — a perfect match. My partner’s chocolate cake was to die for, too Dog-friendly, with indoor seating available, though the terrace is ideal on a pleasant evening. Quiet, welcoming, and with food that delivers — definitely recommend!

Ordered several dishes, our favorite was the fish and chips, followed by the beef burger, great place to dine in and enjoy the scenery.

Nice place along the canal.. with lots of places to take pictures. The service is here is ok ok la.. nothing like the Asian country. Have to say people here have the kind of “I don’t want to do your business” kind of attitude. But luckily.. I was served by one of the best waiter. He was gentle and he was patient. The reason why I rated mid was because of him cos I over heard the lady said to the next table. “I only have two hands and two feet”, from where I come from. That’s bloody rude. As for the food, it was not bad but nothing superb to shout about. The starter was ok. But the fish was good. But my take is this, if they aren’t keen on doing Asian business or have any discriminating kind of feelings towards any people. Don’t take their business. Dont be a hypocrite. But again, they really need more of the gentlemen that gave his service to us.

The food was delicious and very fresh. We recommend the Cap Horn Salad and the danish Smorrebrod. The service was okay but rather slow, probably because it was quite busy.

Hallernes Smørrebrød is a must-visit spot in Copenhagen, located at the fabulous Torvehallerne market and also at the Tivoli Food Court. This iconic eatery offers a wide variety of smørrebrød, the classic Danish open-faced sandwiches. You can choose from traditional combinations like shrimp and egg or potato and bacon. The stall allows you to order by the piece, making it easy to sample several varieties.
Definitely a place to visit as a tourist, great food, a super offer and plenty to choose from. It's a busy place so it's better to reach it by walking. There was a big line when we came, but it took less than 10 minutes until our turn and it was worth waiting. The food was just perfect; there are all kinds of common seating and eating spaces with a great atmosphere. Parking is on the street, with a lot of bikes and pedestrian traffic around.

Fresh, delicious open face sandwiches. The shrimp and fish cake were extremely good choices with an amazing depth of flavour that felt well balanced and very fresh. The queue is worth the wait.

Open face sandwiches that are made right on the spot and lot of various types to chose from. What is most important is that they are fresh. They do look small and I took 2 at the time. I can tell that one would be more than enough and I barely finished the second one and honestly was struggling as I was more than full. Lot of toppings and various drinks to chose from. It was delicious and I really enjoyed it. Bread is perfect pair with whatever type you chose. I would visit again.

Probably the best smørrebrød you can find! It gets quite busy during peak hours, but it’s definitely worth it. The selection is fantastic and everything tastes absolutely delicious. Highly recommended!

Norrlyst is a charming restaurant located in an intimate basement in central Copenhagen. The rustic farm tables and cognac-colored leather chairs create a warm and inviting atmosphere. The menu offers a four-course set option with seasonal ingredients, including both meat and vegetarian choices. Guests can enjoy an array of snacks as well as a selection of open-bread sandwiches with various toppings for lunch. The restaurant also offers an extensive schnaps menu for pairing with the meal.
I had dinner at Norrlyst with my colleagues, and the experience was excellent from start to finish. We started by going up the tower, which is included when you book a table. The view over Copenhagen was stunning and a great way to begin the evening. The restaurant itself is beautiful – high ceilings, marble statues, big windows, and grand staircases. It has a classic, elegant atmosphere. We had the full evening menu, and I chose the beef for the main course. It was perfectly cooked, very flavourful, and served with a generous amount of sauce in a small pot on the side, which I really appreciated. The potatoes that came with it were also excellent. Overall, it was a lovely dining experience, made even better by the impressive surroundings.

Buzzy basement restaurant. We went for dinner and had the three course menu. The beef tartare starter and red deer main were superb as was the sea buckthorn parfait dessert. There were a couple of minor missteps with the service but our waitress was so friendly we forgave her. There was a good mix of locals & tourists.

Amazing danish dishes with a good selection of wines. We had the charcuterie, the beef tartar, the pan fried Hake and the vol au vent. Everything was special and delicious. Excellent service. The restaurant is quite small and was quite warm inside. This might be nice in another time of year but for summer was a bit uncomfortable.

Delicious food with tatar and hake dishes topping. The intermediate course was delicious and different. I have expected more from desert. We had some misunderstanding with the service regarding wines, else they were awesome. Worth visit. Again received recommendation from Michelin (2025)

I’ve had really phenomenal food in Copenhagen but this just was not it. 2 out of 4 of my courses were practically inedible. If I was older, or in a Karen mood, I would have sent them back. I didn’t even know this place had a star until we showed up, but I’m not sure how?? The wine was good, services was good. Was nearly pitch black in the bathrooms and they were sort of unkempt. Anyway, the scallop soup was nasty - imagine it sitting in someone’s uber delivery bag for 3 hours.. lukewarm, not sure if I should really eat this. And the dessert sorbet thing was totally frozen. Didn’t thaw and felt embarrassed to attempt using a knife to eat. Disappointing for the price.

Perfect for lunch! Tell your friends! A proper Danish Smørrebrød experience that you can treat your friends with when they visit!
Ian C — Google review
First of all, it's not a Michelin star restaurant as others say, it's a cafe from Michelin guide, this place doesn't have any distinction. You can not really get into this place without reservation which is disturbing for a casual lunch spot serving smorrebrod and nothing special really, and food and service is not really worth it. I liked their sister cafe down the road more.

Highly recommend Norrlyst if you are visiting Copenhagen! Every dish I tried had a nice balance and flavor. The acidity in the dishes was perfectly executed, adding brightness without overpowering. The fish and scallop were cooked to perfection. The seasoning throughout the meal was spot on as well Beyond the food, the atmosphere was cozy and inviting, making it the perfect spot to enjoy a thoughtfully prepared meal. The attention to detail in the dishes impressive.

Nestled within the historic tower of the Danish Parliament, Meyers i Tårnet is a culinary gem that beautifully marries traditional Danish cuisine with stunning views. Celebrating its 60-year jubilee throughout September weekends, this restaurant showcases seasonal delights like their signature 'Shooting Star' smørrebrød—an exquisite creation featuring toasted sourdough topped with fried plaice fillets, hand-peeled shrimp, caviar, and vibrant pickled tomatoes.
You can use the fast track in front of the elevator to the top tower if you have a reservation. We had 2 open sandwiches for lunch. They were good. The dessert is just ok. I hope they can have more choices for dessert.

We had a lovely lunch at this unique restaurant in the parliament in the centre of Copenhagen. The interior was just amazing with old sculptures that had been found in the old castle and with the tables being put up in a circle due to the tower shape. The food was to die for, we ordered 3 classic smørrebrød (we were 2 ppl visiting) and that was perfect amount. The sandwich with crispy chicken skin was a real surprise, super seasoned and creamy. The lamb was cooked to perfection and our vegetarian sandwich was just filled with clean flavours. Lovely staff, very helpful with answering questions around the food. Lovely danish experience with the classic smørrebrød with a snaps and beer. ;)

In a completely unique setting you can find this cozy restaurant at the top of the Danish parliament. The food is not over sophisticated but it only makes it easy to choose. They have some decent choices of wine with the wine list being slightly outdated. A super nice service for a casual setting and a great view on the top over Copenhagen. Overall a nice place to visit.

Meyer. A Danish chef with a very good reputation. This one of his restaurants serves the deluxe version of Danish smørrebrød, "open face sandwiches" on rye-bread. Everything from the bread to the filling, cold, and warm cuts was made from the best local produce - and love, I'm sure We had the full Danish Christmas lunch. All the traditional dishes and servings. But with a twist. I don't dare to say, but better than my mum made it. The service! I think we got lucky. She was the most heartwarming professional witty accommodating person enjoying her profession. Very nice indeed. And the location! In the Christiansborg Castle Tower with a view over Copenhagen and the Royal staples. It was truly a wonderful Christmas lunch. I must add that I have neither a professional nor family relationship with the owner or our waitress. 🙂 We just went for lunch.

This is by far the most amazing experience we had while dining in Copenhagen. The place is located in Christiansborg Palace where the government resides. There are no views from the actual restaurant but there is a view from the tower above. The restaurant is gorgeous, modern without losing the old style. The food is also a modern take on Scandinavian cuisine but you get decent sized portions. The flavors are amazing, the wine list is good and the we expected our bill to be so much higher than it was. So great value overall. I think it is a must for anyone visiting Copenhagen.
Rikke M — Google review
Having spent the day at Christiansborg we were hungry and in search of a cafe for a late afternoon bite to eat. We found our way to Tårnet, but were told by security guards that they were fully booked. After further discussion they did let us through security and up to the restaurant. (They had airport style security as I later found out this is part of the area of the Danish parliment.) We were greeted at the restaurant which indeed was very busy, and with every seat taken. But they did make us an interesting offer - we could have some leisure seating on cushions on steps to the large windows. There were some small, permanently mounted tables there so we ordered some drinks and savoury treats. Menu and opening times are on-line. Making a reservation is strongly recommended.

Absolutely great place! All decoration changes every season and it’s a perfect place to have photoshoots here. I have a subscription and often bring my tourists here for photo shoots. An excellent park although off to a skeptical start when I saw the first ride we went on had a member of staff on to "pull the brake". Lots of rides to suit all with a fair number of "tummy turners". Queues were small and the facilities such as food and toilets were at a good standard. We used the Copenhagen card to get in but you need to pay extra for the rides. Was quite cold when we were there so dress appropriately. The teenage kids enjoyed it so that's a thumbs up !

Had such a fun day at Tivoli Gardens in Copenhagen! The autumn vibes were magical, and the park looks absolutely stunning as the lights come on in the evening. I highly recommend going late afternoon so you can enjoy it in daylight and then see it sparkle at night. Went here for the halloween themed gardens, it was amazing. So much to do for all ages. Rides, show for the little children, pumpkin carving, amusements, stalls to buy gifts and plenty of food and drink stalls. You can go in and out if you get a stamp and there's plenty of shops nearby. Was a great day out.

We visited just before Halloween and had a great time. The decorations and while atmosphere just felt special. I initially thought that the entry and ride ticket was a little expensive but it certainly wasn’t, only major queues were for food outlets at meal time which is understandable. Download the app and you can also have free copies of the ride photos, something completely unheard of in our native UK. Highly recommend and a highlight of our family trip to Copenhagen

Beautiful theme park in the city center of Copenhagen, Denmark. My Danish friends told me that It was the inspiration of Disney’s World. Lovely theme park with various rides and attractions, bars, ice cream, candy shops and restaurants as well as souvenirs and artisanal shops. I came here in October so the park was lavishly decorated with Halloween theme 🎃🎃🎃. It was packed even on weekdays. I tried Demon, the 🎢 rollercoaster (the queue was 45 minutes for a 1 - minute fun ride! 😇) and we had fun! We also had wonderful dinner in Mikkeler Færgerkroen restaurant. Fun attractions include the old wooden rollercoaster, fatamorgana, carousel, boat ride, Ferris wheels 🎡, swinging carousel, bumper car and more. The tickets are available online as well as through Tivoli app. You can get the passes as well, starting for the standard pass for 12 months to silver, gold and wild card. Get more details on their app and website. Single ride tickets are also available, from 50 - 60 DKK. Watch out for the health and safety limitations for the rides. Toilets are available here and there. Some parts are flat and ♿️✅ disability friendly, but some parts have stairs.

Great day out, rides were good. Went on a few couple times. Wait times were around 30mins which wasn't too bad for most rides. Food was priced reasonably inside the park and you also had the food hall next door so had a few to choose from. Will definitely visit again when visiting Copenhagen.

Very good and delicious food, nice and very gentle staff. We ordered salmon tartar and shrimps for starters and for main course, cod fish, mussels and schnitzel. Shrimp is my favorite and the others are also really good. Portions are really big, we were three at that night and did not finish them all.

We had lunch here as we wanted danish food. We ordered 2 mains: Breaded plaice open sandwich: Fish was pretty normal. We didn’t enjoy the classic danish bread as it is very dense. Wish they had toasted it for better texture. Roasted pork open sandwich: It was indeed crispy but it has very strong pork smell. Prefer the red cabbage that goes with it. Service was slow. Make waiter took a while to respond to get us a table even though it only had 3 tables occupied. Food service was again slow. We were the only table waiting for food as the earlier customers were done. Staff were more interested to talk to each other on unhappiness at work. The female staff had curtesy to walk off after presenting the pos machine so that customers do not feel pressured to give tips. Kudos to her. I kept myself occupied by examining the royal copehagen plates used. Maybe we were just unlucky. Seems like others were lucky at dinner.

We have chosen this restaurant as we wanted to experience Danish cuisine. Although they consider this place as french-danish restaurant we managed to pick dishes that reflects Danish cuisine. As starters we asked for a shrimp bisque and smoked salmon with poached egg and spinach over a slice of bread. Both of them very delicious and beautifully served. As main courses we picked a seafood platter(cod fish) and meat( sirloin?). Fish was very good cooked and tasteful. However, when it comes to meat, although it was quite tasteful, probably nerves/veins of the meat was not properly cleaned, this made it hard to chew some parts of it. We had beer as drink which was produced by a local, respectively new brewery and its taste was good.

Great, cozy and central place in Copenhagen with high quality food and drinks. Location to me is excellent, as it’s in one of the less trafficked smaller plazas of Copenhagen, without being far away from Tivoli, Central Station or the main shopping street “Strøget”. We ordered both fish and meat (signature dishes) and both were excellent - the desserts are classics from childhood and honestly; it was like being 10years old without a care in the world when I had it 😋 Highly recommend going there - for casual dining or before a show; both works for us 👌

Stopped by for a meal and was pleasantly surprised! I started with the salmon, which was absolutely delicious - rich in flavor, fresh, and beautifully presented. A fantastic start to the meal. The main course was the classic Danish lune tarteletter - creamy chicken in a light, flaky pastry shell. It was comforting and well-prepared, with a nice balance of sauce and texture. To finish off, I had dessert, which was the perfect treat: ice cream with chocolate sauce, berries, and whipped cream - sweet, refreshing, and indulgent without being too heavy. Overall, the experience was very enjoyable. Great flavors, cozy presentation, and a lovely spot to enjoy a relaxed meal. One star off only due to a minor issue with payment, but otherwise, I highly recommend it!

What comes to your mind when you think about Copenhagen 🇩🇰 ❓ Nyahvn, of course! 💡 No, seriously, I'm sure 90% of people who never visited CPH have never heard this name... like myself before I went there. 😅 On the contrary, 100% have heard about the Little Mermaid. But for people in CPH, Nyahvn is more emblematic than the mermaid. And I can see why they think that. The mermaid is, indeed... little 😅, and kind of lost almost outside of the city, whereas Nyahvn is a beautiful canal surrounded by colorful townhouses right in the city center. 🤩 Of course, in that area, there are lots of restaurants and one of my friends wanted to have dinner there, to enjoy the view of the canal. Unfortunately, this is a touristy (hence expensive) area and these restaurants usually don't allow bookings on the terrace. And we were a big party so we had to book inside of the only place we could find that had an available table: Nyhavns Færgekro. The inside of the venue was empty, yet they sat us underground (so no view 😓) in the less charming salon. It was nice but the rest of the venue was really lovely. Once again, all the servers were Spanish 🇪🇸 or Argentinian 🇦🇷 (🤔) and the service was correct. The food was good too: I loved the herrings 🐟 I had as a starter but the 🐖 pork belly 🥓 I had as a main course was way too fat and I couldn't finish it (even though i was good). 🤢 Before we finished the main course, the kitchen had closed so we couldn't order the desserts we wanted 😠 and were left with almost no choice: strawberries 🍓 and strawberry pie 🥧, which I tried but didn't like because it tasted like chocolate 🍫 and we couldn't feel the cream of the strawberry. 👎 We paid DKK570 (€75) each, incl. wine but most of us had only 2 courses so, even for CPH and given the type of food we had (pork belly, for instance) and the quantities, I can't say that was cheap. An ok experience. . . . Quality & taste: 7/10 Quantities: 7/10 Atmosphere: 8/10 Originality: 6/10 Ratio price / quality: 7/10 Service: 7/10 How I felt afterwards: 7/10

Gasoline Grill is a unique burger joint located at a petrol station, offering an unexpected twist on the drive-in experience. Known for serving some of the world's best burgers, it offers reasonably priced combos that include a burger, fries, and a carbonated or alcoholic drink. The famous cheeseburger is made with fresh ground organic beef and served in a potato bun with cheddar, raw onion, pickles, and their signature mayo sauce.
You need to come to the original location of Gasoline Grill in Copenhagen to instantly understand where their name comes from. They serve burgers in the former shop of a downtown gas station near Nyhavn and Kongens Nytorv. Interestingly, the place is still a functioning gas station to this day. You can fill up your car, or charge it, while waiting for your burger. The gas station is fully automatic though, no need for a cashier. That’s how the famous gas station burger occupied the former shop area and is serving probably the best burger in Copenhagen. There is a limited menu in Gasoline Grill, but I think that’s just how a great street food burger place should operate. We tasted the two most iconic ones, original burger and cheeseburger, and prefer the latter.

A solid North American–style burger in a fun Copenhagen setting I had been looking forward to trying this place after seeing a video on YouTube. I love the whole concept behind the Gas Station burger joint — a stylish nod to North American burger culture — and they definitely nail the vibe. As a North American myself, surrounded by some of the best burgers in the world back home, it’s always a fun experience to try the European take on a “classic” burger. But I’ll be honest: most of the time, it ends up feeling like a much more expensive version of a budget comfort food I already have access to regularly. That said — this one was a standout. If you’ve never had a proper North American–style burger and you’re in Copenhagen, this is a fantastic place to start. I had a soft, fresh buttered brioche bun, sharp orange cheddar, a classic burger sauce (think Big Mac style), sweet pickles, and a perfectly grilled, pink, juicy patty. Super well-balanced and satisfying. Final thoughts: Is it a revelation for someone from the U.S. or Canada? Probably not. But it’s a damn good version of a familiar classic, done with care and quality ingredients. If you’re craving a legit burger in Copenhagen, this place will definitely hit the spot.

Best burgers in Copenhagen is an understatement. The line at this one was quite long but service was quick and efficient. Some seating outside. Butter burger was really good, as was the cheeseburger and vinegar fries. Lemonade not amazing but refreshing. Price quite high but worth it.
Yasir — Google review
Good quality burgers, but nothing that really stands out – there are plenty of places serving equal or even better burgers. That said, the atmosphere is cool and unique, as the food is prepared in an old gas station that’s still in operation (gasoline, diesel, and electric). The setting definitely adds some charm. We waited around 10 minutes for our food, which was reasonable. Worth a visit if you’re nearby, especially for the experience.
Björn A — Google review
After really enjoying our first visit to another branch, we decided to try the original Gasoline Grill. This one is located in an actual gas station with outdoor seating, which adds to the charm. Since we weren’t too hungry, we shared one Butterburger. Honestly, we preferred the cheeseburger we had at the other branch, but this one was still very tasty. The patty was cooked a bit more than we usually like, but it wasn’t dry at all. Definitely a spot worth trying.
Oğuzhan G — Google review
Definitely worth the 30-minute wait for a simple yet outstanding burger. The juicy, flavorful meat really stood out. Seating is limited, but there’s something fun about grabbing a burger from a gas station and eating it on the spot. A must-try when in Copenhagen!
Batuhan A — Google review
Their hamburgers are very delicious, made with high-quality meat. The fries are also very tasty, and the drinks are good too. It's no surprise it sells so well. In the evenings, there's a very long line of people, and you have to wait for an hour, but it's delicious and worth the wait. The restaurant only has one or two tables for dining in.
Prayuth P — Google review
We had to try the burger after hearing The New York Times call it the best in the world—and it totally lived up to the hype. We got both the hamburger and the cheeseburger. Super simple, but that’s what made the amazing beef and perfect grill flavor stand out even more.

Mad & Kaffe is a popular brunch spot in Copenhagen, known for its memorable and customizable brunch experience. Located in Vesterbro, it offers a small terrace where customers can enjoy their meal. The menu allows patrons to choose from a variety of small dishes including vegetables, cheese options, chorizo sausages, and homemade muffins. Guests can select up to seven plates which pair perfectly with unlimited fresh orange juice.
Definitely my favourite brunch spot in Copenhagen ! You can choose 3, 5 or 7 items to create your own brunch plate. I've visited several times and was never disappointed. Everything is tasty and well cooked. The menu changes every season so there's always something new to try. The drinks are also really good ! I highly recommend this place and would advise to book in advance if you want to come in the weekend.

One of our favourite breakfasts in Copenhagen! It gets very busy here and the staff work very, very hard. They are still so lovely and the service is prompt. We were grateful to arrive early enough to get a walk-in table for 1.5hrs - I would otherwise, recommend making a reservation if you can. Everything here is so fresh, flavourful and quite unique in how each dish is prepared and served.
Raquel C — Google review
Overall a good experience. Unfortunately the avocado was too hard to eat, and some dishes had mint leaves that I didn’t enjoy, it would be helpful if that was mentioned on the menu. On the bright side, the eggs were excellent and the atmosphere pleasant. I’d recommend the place, though it’s a bit pricey. Also, it’s best to book a table in advance through their website, very convenient.
Lily T — Google review
Absolutely fantastic quality of the brunch! Yes, these portions are small, so I will suggest to get 5 or 7 items but it's definitely worth it. Ingredients are high quality, everything is matching perfectly and you will be full after 7 pieces brunch. I can definitely recommend it to anyone but try to book a reservation because it can be very busy!
Przemysław P — Google review
A very cosy place, with a high quality breakfast / brunch. We didn't have a reservation but we were lucky enough to find an empty table inside and to enjoy our breakfast for 1h30 min. The service was very prompt, and the servicing members friendly and kind. The hot chocolate was really nice, with a balanced taste and it was not extremely sweet. Also, by far my favourite was the smoothie with kale, caju butter and banana - it was so delicious. We could taste the high quality of the ingredients, even if the portions were smaller than we expected. It was too windy and cold to stay outside, but during the summer time it definitely worth it. I gave a lower review because not all the ingredients were listed (e.g. onion topped over the omelette) so it was too late to talk with the waiter about my food intolerance. Some small things can make a big difference.

Great brunch place, very delicious food and cozy environment. Staff is very friendly. Love their Apple Trifle. Definitely will come back once in Copenhagen again!
Tomáš M — Google review
They only had outdoor seating, which is fine ! But don't leave customers waiting 15+ minutes to take order when sitting outside. Would've been more tolerable if we got our coffees while waiting but they didn't come until about 5 minutes after we got our food... Food was reasonably good but the slow service and lack of attentiveness lowered score.

Aamanns Deli & Takeaway in Østerbro is a must-visit for anyone looking to indulge in the quintessential Danish smørrebrød. This delightful deli, recommended by Lonely Planet, serves up these iconic open-faced sandwiches on their own organic sourdough bread, topped with fresh and seasonal ingredients that truly celebrate Nordic cuisine. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, with friendly staff who make you feel right at home from the moment you step inside.
Amazing food! Got to try a couple of their open sandwiches and my absolute favorite was the shrimp on sourdough, which had a super tasty and flavorful sauce.
Negar O — Google review
Brilliant toasts, and a required eating for anyone visiting Copenhagen. I recommend the herring and the plaice. The herring has the right amount of pickling to cut against the nutty bread. The topping is salty and fatty to add more depth, with the greens fresh enough to round out the dish with a vegetal wrap. But the plaice is even better. A relatively thick fillet, lightly fried, with a lovely mayo on top, this I could eat a bunch of. The fish is so so good, and because of the lightness of the breading, the underlying rye bread is still the right base. Other fried fish is done on light brioche breads, but this fish is better with the nutty rye. The dressing on this is also excellent and savory. Highly, highly recommend. I will try to go back every year I'm in Copenhagen. I also recommend trying to order and eat indoors as the building provides shade from the sun, making the outdoor seating area a bit chilly. However, if you sit outdoors you don't have to go inside as you can order from QR codes. So outdoors may be better if you're impatient.

The food was exceptionally tasty! The prawn with the sourdough bread was my favourite! They do very cute takeaway boxes which is perfect for a picnic and their coffee is very good too. Very clean and cozy place.
Christina T — Google review
I can recommend the herring, and perhaps other cold options. I think the plaice with shrimp salad is overpriced for what it offers. This one piece was 165 dkk (almost £20 a piece..). Basically tastes like fried fish with mayo-based sauce. Not bad but def not worth £20 even for cph prices.

One of our favourite meals in Copenhagen! The smorrebrods were super delicious and the menu was smaller which we appreciated cause it made selecting a lot easier. Everything we tried were worth it and the prices were actually not too bad compared to places we’ve tried. The space is small and don’t have a ton of tables but highly recommend!
Queeny Q — Google review
We came at around 4pm on Sunday so the inside was not occupied at all. We came as we had watched Somebody Feed Phil and I really wanted to try the Smorebrpd. Honestly it’s sooooooo good. We had three veggie options (2 cold, one warm) and two fish options (both cold). My husband was really impressed with his fish options and also loved my veggie options. We also had the snaps tastings. We walked out really full and really happy to have tried this place and for sure, we know we can’t get better than this (each one was different, flavourful, had great texture). For sure I would revisit next time I’m back in CPH.

Got the beef tartare, just out of this world ❤️❤️❤️ Too bad I only got 1 (bcs I will have a proper dinner after, and just wanna give it a try) but defo will be back to try other ones (esp the herring one). Their sister resto got a michelin star, so I got a rly high expectation (and did not disappoint) One of the best dishes I have in Copenhagen

Run, don’t walk to eat the most delicious smørrebrøds ! I discovered this gem last year thanks to the Copenhagen episode of Somebody Feed Phil on Netflix and I knew I had to go back when I visited again a few weeks ago. This time, I had to go back twice as I absolutely fell in love with the beef tartar, rhubarb compote and cream cheese mousse smørrebrød! 11/10, no notes! I also tried the curried herring (deliciousssss), the roast beef (yummy) and the butter-fried plaice and shrimp salad. Always a great meal for each of my 3 visits and I will undeniably be back next time I’m in Copenhagen. Highly recommend.

Danish restaurant
Cafe
Kanal-Caféen is a charming and affordable restaurant located by a canal in Copenhagen. It offers traditional Danish open sandwiches known as smorrebrod, with prices starting at around 8. The cozy venue features old-school decor with beams, paintings, and nautical curios, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. The restaurant's maritime theme adds to its unique charm, making it a popular spot for both locals and travelers on a budget.
We really enjoyed our first meal in Copenhagen, trying a traditional Danish lunch that exceeded our expectations. The dish was authentic and delicious, just like the photo - no instagram vs. reality issue! We also tried their signature dessert, pairing perfectly with our coffee. The service was fantastic, with friendly chef and attentive staff. The atmosphere was serene and relaxing. What surprised us most was the warmth of the Danish people; we had a lovely encounter with locals who initiated a friendly chat, a hospitality we hadn't experienced in the other two Scandinavian countries we visited.
Ella G — Google review
It’s right by the canal so the ambiance and view is pretty good. Service was on the rougher side. Food was meh. They looked nicely presented but they were too oily. The chicken one was showered in mayonnaise. The potato one had bacon on it so our vegetarian friend couldn’t eat anything. The pork belly one was okay but again too oily.

Came here for lunch to escape rain while waiting for Christianborg stables to open. What a place! Cute, historical sailing themed. Food is excellent, cute, and affordable. Extremely nice staff. This place is a gem. I couldn't be happier I found it.
Bradley C — Google review
Now this place is one of a kind. Let me explain… So I arrived in Denmark to visit my brother and wanted the one food I really miss - Danish Smorgasbord, so he booked us in for the first day serving their Christmas special. We turned up to our 1pm reservation to start our just short of 5 hour marathon ‘jule frokost’ (Christmas lunch for the non-Danes). So this is one of Copenhagens oldest traditional restaurants. There is a boat in the summer, but we were in the main dining area - a very cosy original setting. The staff were amazing throughout and attentive. So ambiance and service at a full 5, but let’s get on to the food….. So my brother had booked the Xmas lunch, a set menu of 7 fish dishes followed by 7 meat dishes and finishing off with cheese followed by tradition Danish ris a la mande. 16 dishes. Crazy! But forget the numbers… The food quality was amazing and the condiments were varied and plentiful. I can’t think of a situation in any restaurant where the servings were so ‘unmeasured’ meaning no thimbles or short measures. Neither of us could get through it all. Oh, and did I mention that it is all home made…. We washed it all down with the traditional beer and snaps. We tried 3 types and they leave the bottles and measure at the end how much we drank. Value for money if you look at the enclosed menu, was excellent - other than this will become a yearly tradition now so I’m going to have to fly in the end of November now next year and going forward. Truly amazing - thank you Kanal Caféen!!

Kanal-Caféen: Where Smørrebrød Meets Superstar Service We had an unforgettable lunch at Kanal-Caféen—a true Copenhagen classic that delivers on every level. The setting is charming and authentically Danish, but it’s the food and service that really shine. We went all-in on the smørrebrød, and every bite was next-level. The crumbed fish with prawns was crispy and fresh, the roast beef with remoulade was bold and satisfying, and the roast pork with cabbage and pickle hit that perfect balance of rich and tangy. All washed down with an excellent selection of Danish beers—cold, crisp, and expertly recommended. But the real MVP? Kim, our waiter. Kim didn’t just serve us—he hosted us. Warm, funny, and incredibly knowledgeable, he made us feel like old friends. Honestly, someone needs to clone this man and send him around the globe to teach the fine art of Nordic hospitality. Kanal-Caféen is a must for anyone wanting a true taste of Denmark—with heart, humor, and flavor to spare.

Located in the former Noma site on Christianshavn's waterfront, Restaurant Barr is a culinary gem founded by chef Thorsten Schmidt in 2017. The restaurant offers innovative interpretations of Nordic cuisine and classic dishes such as Danish frikadeller. Its name, "Barr," has historical roots as an old Irish word for crops and Old Norse for barley, a key ingredient in beer.
Their bread was delicious, waffles was so good and so was the pickle mackerel. The pickle mackerel blew my mind. The pork was delish, the grilled plaice was a little too buttery for my taste. Overall very good food and such a nice vibe.
Kerry L — Google review
Food was phenomenal, amazing taste and presentation.. we loved everything we ordered.. The reason for my 4 star is that it took 30 mins to serve the grilled waffles, then after we asked they served the open face sandwich after another 36 minutes… slow service although the place was not full!

Great place for brunch. Attentive and friendly staff. Poured us the pairing beer for the desert during lunch to satisfy our palate. Would come out again. Schnitzel was amazing.
Alan J — Google review
Over hyped classic pub food. I visited for lunch and got an open faced sandwich the schnitzel and fried cheese. Sitting at the bar counter looking at the kitchen all three single guests commented on the very slow service. The team were very nice, but overwhelmed. I wanted to do a few glasses of natural wine, but my server was not completely familiar with the list and I ended up going for a bottle of something familiar to avoid some more awkward interactions. It’s a shame that they didn’t know the list. The open sandwich of chicken and asparagus was great. My schnitzel was well cooked but not amazing. And I was advised to go for the fried cheese for dessert. This was a massive chunk of breaded cheese that was not very flavourful. Overall it was nicely cooked pub food. But nothing was great. This would be fine, if the prices were pub prices. Whilst there is not much wrong with Barr it is not worthy of the hype or price in my opinion.
Ian H — Google review
We had a great evening at Barr — the food and atmosphere were both excellent. As a family, we really enjoyed the relaxed yet upscale vibe, which made for a memorable fine dining experience without the typical formality or stress. We ordered the schnitzel, cod, beef tartare, and Mackerel fish. The schnitzel was the standout — perfectly prepared and full of flavor. The beef tartare was also a highlight, incredibly fresh and well-seasoned. The desserts were decent, though not particularly memorable. All in all, while it may not have been the absolute best high-end meal I’ve ever had, the overall experience — from the food to the setting — was top-notch. If you’re looking to spend a relaxed evening enjoying quality food in a beautiful space, Barr is definitely worth a visit.

We had the set menu for four and really enjoyed the food. The restaurant was very accommodating with dietary restrictions, which we appreciated. Standout dishes were the beef tartare and the cod — both beautifully done and full of flavor. Overall, a great food experience. That said, the service felt a bit dry and could have been warmer to match the quality of the meal.
Zeinab N — Google review
We had a 4 courses dinner menu. The baked cod with spinach made a great start, it was delicious. The beef tartar mixed with gooseberries created an interesting flavor combination. The dessert was a bit acidic for my liking. The restaurant was bustling, with the staff attentively serving customers. I liked how lively this place is, so I could unwind and relax while enjoying my food. Be sure to make a reservation, as this place is always full of diners.

Fantastic 3-course lunch! Waffle with vendace roe, classic schnitzel, and fresh raspberry sorbet – all perfectly cooked and beautifully served. We had a 3-course lunch menu that was a delight from start to finish. The waffle with vendace roe was absolutely fantastic – crisp, light, and full of flavor. The main course, a classic schnitzel with browned butter, capers, and crisp pickled cucumbers, was spot on. Dessert, a refreshing raspberry sorbet with salted crème anglaise, was both elegant and perfectly balanced. Friendly service and a beautiful view – well worth a visit! Thorsten knows what he is doing.

Really cool place. Lunch only but they let us sneak in under the wire (after 3:30 pm). Authentic Danish food and seems to be a favourite with locals. Food was unique (to me) and delicious. Service was much better than we've seen across Europe. Fantastic experience!

Sooooooo good! I wanted to try some local danish cuisine (traditional) , and I found this place. It was my first time having smørrebrød and I loved it. The pickled herring was the best, in my opinion. I would've loved to try a few more, but the sizes were quite big, so two was more than enough for me. Also the staff was very polite and helpful :) Highly recommend this place for some classic stuff.

Delicious open-faced sandwiches and hot lunches are served at Slotskælderen since 1910. It can be difficult to get a seat, but the atmosphere is friendly and the food tastes great. The sandwiches are reasonably priced and would make a great first impression of Danish cuisine.
We went to this very nice and quaint restaurant this afternoon. The service was very friendly and courteous. The smørrebrød was sensational and the beer was cold.... was simply wonderful.

The food was great! Really enjoyed the 4 dishes! Service was friendly! But the bill for 4 dishes (plus 2 bottles of small water) that looked like appetizers was 966.17 kr which is about $148 usd for 1 person. I didn’t dbl check w them and left the restaurant then I converted it to usd and was surprised. I got 2 dishes that were tiny shrimps fresh from the Baltic Sea. Was delicious, a smoked trout and fish roe over cream and bread. All in all very good but the price is a bit much. All the best to those who go!

I not usually make reviews but the moment I stepped into Slotskælderen I knew I was in for something special. The Danish charm, genuinely friendly and the interaction felt personal, that made our experience even more memorable. The food? Absolutely divine! -Ah! But its just smørrebrød. - You wouldn’t understand!! We choose couple those ( beef tartare, smoked herring, flæskesteg). Even the simplest was made freshly!!!. By the way, all the dishes are served in traditional Royal Copenhagen ceramics.

Great selection of traditional open-faced sandwiches. Many types of herring, shrimp, pork, roast beef, and more. You must try it. Don't forget a beer and schnapps / aquavit with your meal. But understand, one sandwich is not enough. Locals usually eat 3-5 servings each!

Staffs have smiley face and very cheerful. Food : Shrimp & salmon taste good. I expect it would be brown bread, but it is a piece of thin white bread. Salmon makes the bread too wet Beef tart tart is great . the one with heavy cheese also put white bread on bottom. It should be better to be brown bread instead. Place is cozy and feel some history behind which is nice. Price is ok vs qualify but wish they can put more brown bread instead of white bread more.

Crowded to the point of packed, unlikely to get a seat without reservation. Service was good but slow because of the crowd. Traditional taste and presentation. Reasonably priced. Recommended for the vibe.

Whenever I am in Copenhagen, I visit this genuine and charming Danish open sandwiches restaurant. I have been coming here for about 30 years, and I have never been disappointed. You have a choice of approximately 60 different sandwiches consisting of one small slice of rye bread topped with a mountain of whatever takes your fancy. We Scandinavians start with fish: pickled herring, prawns, salmon or smoked halibut (I normally choose two or three different types). Then you can have e.g. steak tartar, roast beef, ham, Dyrlaegerens Natmad (liver mousse with thin slices of salt beef, aspic and raw onion), ox tongue etc., and you can finish with a warm sandwich with plaice and Danish tartar sauce (remoulade), Danish hamburger (hakkebøf) with a fried egg on top or roast pork. Scandinavians drink aquavit and beer with this food. Afterwards, you can have coffee with kransekage (small cake made with marzipan) and a glass of Calvados. Highly recommended!

Really delicious crispy chicken burger and fries. It was freshly made and didn’t taste greasy at all! I don’t know how they make the fries taste that crispy and good without making me feel like it’s too oily or something. The bearnaise sauce was good too. It is expensive for a simple meal at like 156dkk but I was starving and just had to smash something asap before hitting the bars. I would definitely come back here again in spite of the price because I think the fried chicken burger was just way too good.

Good burgers but a long way to go. Spoiled with the last years burger-war in Stockholm. Bread: really good. But bread to meat ratio is way off, too much bread. Patty: really good cooked but lack of salt and pepper so doesn’t taste anything. Fries: great! Add salt. Overall filling: great ratio, clean. Nothing that drifts away and letting the burger talk for itself, like it! I had the cheese burger, and the potential is good but the details brings it to a decent 3. Don’t know Copenhagen but competition in Stockholm would have brought Jagger in to a really tough fight hard to survive.

Absolute belter of a Burger! Best i have had in Copenhagen. And the milkshake totally worth it! You need to go and try.

I went for the gluten-free options. I could get a Jagger burger with a bread suitable for me, but I couldn't eat fries because of contamination. I ate a salad instead. The burger was great.

I recently visited Copenhagen last week and went to Jagger twice, because it was so good! They have a great lunch deal which is totally worth the price. Their veggie burger is probably the best burger I've ever had, I still think about it! The milkshakes are all amazing as well, my friends and I loved them. The manager here was so sweet and offered us free beer. Jagger is definitely worth the visit if you're in Copenhagen.

I waited over 45 minutes for a simple chicken burger, which felt unreasonable given how basic the order was. The prices are shockingly high! I’m from Los Angeles, and I’ve never paid this much for a burger anywhere. To make things worse, people were smoking all around me despite clear no smoking signs, which made the meal pretty unpleasant. Definitely not worth the wait or the price.

Nestled in the heart of Frederiksberg, Sans Souci Restaurant & Wine Bar is a culinary gem with a rich history dating back to 1902. This charming establishment offers an inviting atmosphere where guests can savor exquisite dishes like scallop tartare and fresh fish, followed by delightful desserts such as rhubarb tart with vanilla mousse. By day, it transforms into a cozy bistro serving classic Danish smørrebrød, making it an ideal stop for lunch or dinner.
The smørrebrød was a hit and a miss: the fried herring with beurre blanc and leaks was incredibly delicious, everything was so tasty and really well put together. The tartar was very bland and did not taste of much. The meat was pretty much freezer-temperature. Could not taste much on that piece, except estragon-mayo and a lot of salt. The restaurant is very nice and cozy, and service was very knowledgeable and friendly!
Malte H — Google review
Had a phenomenal lunch here the other day! From the atmosphere and high quality service to the food itself, Sans Souci offered a vibrant and filling lunch. We look forward to dining here again!
Inger H — Google review
I recently had lunch at this restaurant and the experience was fantastic. The weather was perfect for sitting outside, offering a nice view of a busy street without being too noisy. The service was exceptional—very kind and informative. The restaurant itself was spotless and well-organized, and even the toiletries were of good quality. The food was delightful. I ordered the ribeye with fries, asparagus, and bearnaise sauce. The meat was juicy and perfectly seasoned, the fries were crunchy and salty, and the bearnaise sauce was spot on. The asparagus, however, was a bit too tough and had an unusual flavor that I didn't particularly enjoy. For dessert, I had the citrus mousse, which was almost perfect. I would just prefer if the rhubarb part was a bit more smashed or liquefied. We also tried the chicken smørrebrød, which was very good. The comté cheese added a nice touch, but the portion size could be slightly increased. Overall, a great dining experience with delicious food and excellent service. I would definitely recommend it!

Had a good lunch at Sans Souci. I got a glass of Riesling and ordered gougeres as starters. Stinky french food as usual :) For main dish I got recommended to order poisson à la meunière, which I did. In all honesty, it was terrible. It tasted so so bad, I had to send it back and I never send anything back. The staff was so kind to bring me a pepper steak instead, which was absolutely wonderful. For dessert, I treated myself to an apple tarte tartin along with a cup of coffee. It was so wholesome, loved it. The interior of the restaurant is really beautiful and really gives the impression that this is a 122 year old establishment. The staff is very helpful and kind. Except the fish, everything was just fine.

Had a family of 7 for a get-together dinner and our first choice was sadly canceled, so this was our back up. Most of us ordered the duck and it was too dry. The other dishes were ok, but we didn't feel it was worth the overall cost....especially the foie gras. When it got crowded, it became so loud that you couldn't hear the person sitting in front of you.

Café Dyrehaven, located in Vesterbro, is a trendy and popular spot offering a relaxed atmosphere and delicious food from breakfast to dinner. The café's funky decor, complete with deer antlers, adds to its charm. It was once known as the Acid Garden but has since transformed into one of the most popular cafes in the gentrified neighborhood. The menu features a variety of breakfast options and hot dishes, including morgenmadstallerken and smorrebrood.
The BEST open sandwiches, the chicken salad was my favourite of the two, however the salmon was also amazing. It’s also great that you can choose two smaller options so you get to try more flavours! Lovely local beer on tap too, the staff were super friendly also.

What a great bar, serving excellent meals with amazing background music, from Gun Club, Tom Verlaine, Iggy Pop and more… We were looking for a place to have dinner in a bar that wasn’t touristy, and we found this excellent spot with perfect service and, as already mentioned, truly excellent food. Highly recommended.

This place was recommended and was attended by locals. The photos of the place and the actual place are out of date. It looked like an old pub. There were only 2 waiters serving the whole place and it looked like a total mess. The drinks order was wrong and we had to send it back 3 times. The simple food such as eggs royal took 30min to be prepared. It wasnt to the highest quality. The waitress was very slow and paid no attention to customers. One of the worst customer service seen in Copenhagen. I wouldnt recommend having breakfast there
Valerie S — Google review
Oddly enough, you have to seat yourself first, and then order your meal. As such, the service is okay compared to other places, and the portions are quite small, but it’s absolutely delicious. I had the avocado mouse bread which was fantastic!!!

The poached eggs were amazing. The food and coffees were great. However, there are two drawbacks: the service and the beverages. We should have gone inside the restaurant to pay and there were no one to bring it to us. The finished the orange juice and there were not so many options on the menu! We ended up ordering bottled sangria for breakfast!!’

Nestled in the heart of Copenhagen, Café Halvvejen exudes a nostalgic charm with its creaky wood-panelled interior. This cozy spot offers unapologetically hearty and affordable Danish cuisine, drawing locals and visitors alike. The friendly service adds to the inviting atmosphere, where regulars have been returning for decades. While it may be easy to miss, this quaint café is well worth a visit on your way to nearby attractions.
Best breakfast experience ever! Here you will feel welcome by not only the friendly server but all of the locals, even if you don't really always understand each other. Me and my partner ended up going here at twelve on a Monday for breakfast when it opened and just managed to get the last table. We were served beer and delicious schnapps with the immaculate Danish treats of Smørrebrød in various kinds. We were happy to get to eat and drink at this magnificent establishment that felt so familiar yet so different to anything else.

The food was the tastiest traditional food I've ever had in Northern Europe. Danish food at its best. The service is fabulous, very friendly waiter who explained to us how we should eat the food, what he recommends etc. The table nearby hat 4 regulars who have been coming to the cafe for many years. The atmosphere is of a quaint little bar, which has preserved that antique feel and tradition. Will definitely visit again when I'm in Copenhagen. TOTALLY RECOMMEND!

Where should I start. Food was phenomenal at a very reasonable price, drink selection was also great. Good area, good vibe. Folkehuset Absalon is a vibrant and casual restaurant located in an old historic church on Vesterbros Sonder Boulevard in Copenhagen. It offers a diverse global cuisine, serving breakfast, and hosting community dinners where over 180 strangers come together to enjoy shared dishes. The venue fosters a strong sense of community, attracting locals and tourists of all ages and backgrounds. During summer, the dining experience extends outdoors with long tables set up for al fresco dining when weather permits.
Loved our community dinner here! We were 3 people including our 13 year old son and had a beautiful time chatting with some Danes and a women from Greece. The food was EXCELLENT and including bread (so tasty) with chive butter, new potatoes and smoked salad with dressing and a salad with pickled onions and lentils. All delicious and amazing affordable. Please go!

A must go in Copenhagen. Absolutely love the concept and just such a Danish experience. We love the community dinners, obviously, such a great way to meet people. And the food is honestly amazing. Everytime. No judgment at all. Just lovely vibes. And I’ve also gone for board game night. Just a wonderful time!

What an amazing experience! Its communal dining so you get to meet people. Everyone is generally very friendly. The food was also really tasty. We had bbq chicken with salsa and roast root vegetables. The “cold bowl” desert (a type of buttermilk) was also nice. It’s often a full house so make sure to reserve in advance.

Apart from the beauty to be together, the beautiful plates, decorations, large magnificent church windows… Best bread I ever had (and I am french !!). People are really nice, the events all day are amazing (even some free after diner). 9€ / 65 dkk to eat 3 different plates as someone that loves tasting everything was a big surprise! Do not hesitate to go !!

Such a great place. An old church converted to a community style kitchen with great food and lots of events. You eat at long community tables and it just felt right. The food is very tasty and very affordable (we paid 60 kr for the lunch). The food is served family style, we were the last of 6 to get the food plates and the 4 before us took most of the salad and salmon. We're not big eaters so we didn't mind, but others sure would have minded. I cannot eat gluten, they provided me with a small gf roll. There was salmon, salad, mashed potatoes, cooked cabbage, and a desert I couldn't eat, gluten full.

Dalle Valle is a popular spot in Copenhagen known for its budget-friendly buffet options. The lunch buffet is priced at around 79-89 DKK, while the dinner buffet costs approximately 119 DKK. The spread includes a variety of fresh and local Danish dishes, making it a hit among locals and visitors alike. Additionally, there are special offers such as discounted entrees when purchasing a drink, with tap water being an option for just 20 DKK.
The buffet for the cost in Copenhagen is brilliant. The spread has good choice. Staff is helpful and English speaking. Good to get the special price voucher on their app!
Nikhil G — Google review
The restaurant offers a wide variety of food, and drinks. The buffet was great, delicious food, salad, and dessert. The ice cream was ok. The staffs were nice, and helpful. If you need a spoon, you need to ask for it. Seating area is only available indoor. Toilets for customers are available.
Marta D — Google review
Food was good and for the price of 199 for two people good deal. When I paid the bill soda was 85 each for large just wish I knew that. For the price I recommend but order a water to take advantage of the good deal.
Danny R — Google review
The promo is a trap. 199 2-for-1 doesn't include drinks. The drinks are overpriced and you end up better off just paying full price which includes unlimited drinks. Overall still value for money
Paul T — Google review
I have to say, Dalle Valle is quite a steal. It has a pretty bad reputation, and I also get why. It’s mass-produced, made for big parties, big groups, school classes — basically for everyone. It’s not fancy, and they’re not trying to be either. They know exactly who they are. If you’re two people and just want to eat a lot for cheap, this is probably the best value food you can get in Copenhagen. I was really hungry today, and I just wanted a buffet — to eat a lot, not care about the quality, just go a bit crazy with a plate. And you know what? For a buffet, it’s actually solid. They’ve made some good choices with what they serve. For the price, it’s honestly hard to beat. Around 200 kroner for two people, and all you need to add is drinks — that’s pretty good value. A lot of the food items are, of course, not great, but the pizza is actually pretty solid, and so is the meat. Some of it’s a bit dry, sure, but again, it’s a buffet. It’s not a restaurant, and you can’t really expect more than that. For what it is — a cheap, no-nonsense buffet where you can eat as much as you want — it does a good job. 4 out of 5. One of the better buffets, really high value.
ChunkyCherry — Google review
This is a deceptive restaurant. I must report it today. Its advertisement is simply to deceive tourists who do not understand Danish. When I went in to eat, I thought the prices were as stated on the sign, but when I paid the bill, it was double the price. The attitude of the staff was also very bad, which gave me a very bad impression of restaurants in Copenhagen.
Elodie L — Google review
Dalle Valle presents itself as a wide and varied buffet, but the overall experience reveals inconsistent execution and a focus on quantity over quality. Main dishes The fish, likely pollock, is crispy and flavorful, though clearly frozen and fried. The roasted potatoes are one of the strongest items: well-seasoned, served with a creamy white sauce, and genuinely enjoyable. The orange-colored couscous is interesting and seasoned, though the use of coloring agents is evident. On the other hand, the chow mein is outright bad: cold, oily, and unjustifiable in its condition. The Caesar-style salad fails with excessive grease and artificial flavors. The eggs taste fake, the pork bacon is tasty but too tough, the pancakes are industrial, cold, and dry around the edges. The American-style bacon is particularly poor: overcooked, hard, and nearly inedible. Pizza There are three options, all with similar flaws. The dough lacks fermentation and sticks to the mouth. The ham pizza uses flavorless, low-quality ham, though the result is not entirely disastrous. The beef pizza offers an acceptable combination, but the meat is poorly distributed and lacks balance. Fruit, cheese, and desserts The chocolate pudding is overly foamy and completely artificial. The camembert, though large and soft, lacks character. Among the fruit, the grapes stand out with a peculiar and pleasant profile, but the pears are unacceptable: green, hard, and flavorless. Conclusion Dalle Valle in Copenhagen offers a few highlights (roasted potatoes, couscous, grapes), but most dishes reveal careless preparation, reliance on industrial products, and poor quality control. It is a buffet that delivers variety but fails to provide a consistent or memorable dining experience.
WhiteKuntaKinte — Google review
I am writing to express my dissatisfaction with the service. The staff displayed a cold attitude and were reluctant to assist. Additionally, no one came to clean the table. I expected a pleasant dining experience, but this was not the case. I do not plan to return unless service standards improve.

Souls Deli is a vegan cafe in Copenhagen founded by Australian entrepreneur Jason Renwick in 2016. The restaurant offers a seasonal plant-based menu with surprises for diners, featuring dishes like barbecued blue oyster mushrooms and turnip with apple and macadamia. It has been recognized with awards such as Best Up-and-Coming Restaurant, Most Sustainable Restaurant, and Best Vegan Restaurant in Copenhagen.
Vegan stall at Torvehallerne Food Hall near Nørreport Metro station (walking distance from many popular city attractions such as Rosenborg Castle). Serving savoury street food, i.e. burgers and alcohol, alfresco style. Both cash and card accepted. Friendly staff. Opened by the same owner behind other more upscale vegan eateries in Copenhagen - Beyla, Bistro Lupa, and ARK. I enjoyed the craft burgers that I ordered (Gochujang Tempeh Burger and BBQ Cheeseburger)!

This is a vegan burger joint in a food court in the city centre. There's outside seating in the food court, which is nice when the weather is good, but it's usually crowded. The place offers two types of burgers and you can choose whether you want to add fries and sauce. Staff is very friendly and helpful in explaining the options. I had the BBQ burger with fries and chilli mayo. I liked the burger and you get a really good portion of fries, so it's pretty filling. It's a great choice for when you want comfort food. I found the food really tasty and reasonably priced, and it kept me going all day while exploring the city.

Good ole’ vegan junk food. What’s not to love?! Had the beyond burger, fries and an IPA. Everything was perfect and delicious. Friendly service as well.
Corbett F — Google review
On our visit to Torvehallerne, we sat near Souls. After half an hour, I decided to try one of their burgers because the staff working the grill just looked like they were truly enjoying themselves. Spoiler: I’m so glad I did! I honestly had low expectations since I’m not vegan and usually gravitate toward the “real thing.” But this burger was honestly fantastic. The patty had a hearty bite, the seasoning and sauces packed a ton of flavor, and the whole burger just came together beautifully. What really surprised me, though, was how good I felt after eating it—satisfied but not weighed down, with no heavy, greasy feeling. While sitting next to Souls, I watched more than a few people walk up, notice it was a vegan-specific menu, and then turn away for something else. Big mistake. I feel like if you’re reading this and you’re on the fence about vegan food (or just generally skeptical about “fake” burgers), you should give Souls a fair shot. This was easily one of the best burgers I had in Copenhagen—vegan, vegetarian, or otherwise. I’m still honestly surprised it was entirely plant-based because the amount of flavor and texture they’ve managed to build into that sandwich is wild. Bottom line: don’t walk away just because it’s vegan. Highly recommended.
