Nestled between Hope Valley and the Vale of Edale, Losehill House Hotel & Spa is a stunning Arts and Crafts building that dates back to 1914. Originally established as the Moorgate Guest House, it has since been transformed into a luxurious four-star hotel within the Peak District National Park. The hotel offers 23 modern en suite bedrooms with picturesque rural views, flat screen TVs, and Wi-Fi.
We recently had our wedding at Losehill and they were absolutely incredible. The most perfect day ever, would not have changed a single thing. It really is a hidden gem. The venue itself is stunning, surrounding by the rolling hills and lots of cute lambs and sheep! The staff are so professional and the food is done to an incredible standard. Everyone loved it and unlike other wedding venues the bar was very reasonably priced and had a great selection of drinks. Shoutout to Jules for making the planning experience so easy and enjoyable and to Paul also for making sure the day ran perfectly - but also to the staff more broadly who went out of their way for every ask of ours. So many of our friends and family have commented that it is the best wedding they have ever been to and want to come back for a spa weekend away.

We booked 6 nights, but stayed for 5 - couldn’t handle the sewage smell and sound isolation issues (= bad sleep) any longer. Pros: - location - very convenient for accessing anything in Peak District (given you have a car). Lose Hill is literally at the door steps and hike is cool and views are amazing! - staff was friendly Cons: - sound isolation is very poor. Several nights couldn’t fall asleep because people in bordering rooms or bar below were talking. Could hear literally everything. Closing windows and doors was of no help. - there were a lot of spiders in the room as well as bathroom - in every corner - pool area could be better cleaned and looked after (cracked tiles and such) - at around 19:30 every day it would start smelling sewage. The room would get all smelly. It was very unpleasant. Closing window facing the back of the hotel helped, but some smell would still get through to the room - bathroom had black mould - weather was warm and having no air conditioning was a downside. Probably not a problem when it isn’t hot. Overall we thought it overpriced given the above . This wasn’t a 4star hotel experience.
Anna A — Google review
The location is beautiful. The restaurant is also beautiful. The view from the restaurant window was amazing. The food was excellent quality. The only downside is the portions are very small. I had to order an extra side after my main because I wasn't full. That's the only reason for my 4 star rating.
Michelle B — Google review
The service, bar selection, spa facilities and treatments were brilliant. The set evening dining menu was fantastic. The staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and offer a good quality attentive service. I booked a full body massage with Lisa who not only sent me to sleep, but worked out some knots in my back that had been causing me pain for a while. Lisa also gave me plenty of advice for things I could do on a daily basis to as a preventive measure going forward. Highly informative as well as relaxing. The scenery is priceless. Definitely recommend.
Rebecca W — Google review
The best wedding I could have asked for. I honestly wouldn’t change a thing. A stunning hotel with lovely food, professional staff and incredible surroundings. You are absolutely in the middle of the peaks with an unbelievable backdrop. The orangery has out of this world vistas and light, even if the weather isn’t incredible, and it turns into a great dancefloor for the evening. The venue is classy, jaw dropping and can accommodate an absolute session with lots of drink! I cannot thank Jules (the wedding planner more). Responded to all of our questions, nothing phased her at all, and I wasn’t worried about the day in the slightest in her competent and experienced hands. Also, spending the morning after your wedding in the outdoor hot tub has insane wow factor. Honestly, if you’re planning a wedding this is the venue dreams are made of - all of our guests could not believe just how incredible the hotel is in every which way. Thank you so much Jules and team for giving us the best day of our life.
Liam S — Google review
We stayed as a joint 70th and wedding anniversary treat. What a lovely spot and such lovely staff. I had the best massage by Tatiana and we then enjoyed a delicious dinner with drinks in the comfy lounge to start and end our meal. A great night's sleep in a wonderfully huge bed and then a Derbyshire breakfast in the dining room with the most amazing views. It's a little off the beaten track but worth the journey.
Jayne A — Google review
Faultless. From the well priced menu at £65 for three courses to the attentive and friendly staff. To the well made cocktail. The fairly priced wine list. The coffee and petit fours and the light bathed dining rooms with dreamy views of Lose Hill, I have at last found a place to take out of town guests where I can be sure that we will have a great evening.
Michael M — Google review
Went here with my friend yesterday for a spa day. On arrival they had got my name incorrect r at the end of it. We went into the lounge area where we had a drink. Noisy with a cleaner hovering up across from us. Went to have our spa treatments which were okay. After we went to have our 1 hour pool use..no lockers available for valuables! was asked if we had anything valuable with us...er yes phones, money & bank cards. The receptionist said we could leave these with her behind reception or keep them with us by the side of the pool/hot tub and we would be given a complimentary drink for our inconvenience. Pool area was okay but very small as was the changing room area. Food & drink was okay & they did let us change from afternoon tea to something else on the menu, food & drink was good. Would we go again...no not for a spa day. reason: security of valuables issue.

Fischer's Baslow Hall is a luxurious Edwardian hotel located in the heart of the Peak District National Park. This Grade II-listed manor house offers elegant rooms with ornate ceilings and is surrounded by beautiful gardens. The hotel features an award-winning restaurant serving imaginative, modern British cuisine using locally sourced ingredients, including vegetables from its own kitchen garden.
We had an unforgettable dining experience at Fischer’s Baslow Hall to celebrate a birthday, and everything—from the service to the food—was exceptional. The team went above and beyond to make the occasion special, with the waitstaff offering warm, attentive, and genuinely thoughtful service that added a personal touch to the celebration. The food was absolutely incredible—each course beautifully presented and bursting with flavor, clearly crafted with skill and care. Every dish told its own story, and the attention to seasonal ingredients and balance made the meal feel both luxurious and grounded in nature. The setting itself, elegant and tranquil, complemented the whole experience perfectly. It’s clear why Fischer’s holds its Michelin Plate status—it’s a place where fine dining meets heartfelt hospitality. We’ll absolutely be returning and recommending it to anyone looking for a truly memorable culinary experience.

I booked a solo dining experience on the kitchen bench at the end of August. This was my first foray into fine dining and I was not disappointed. From the moment I was greeted at the door, I was made to feel incredibly welcome. The taster menu and whole kitchen bench experience was just wonderful. It was more relaxed than I was expecting which suited me perfectly! The food was exceptional - I was presented with a wide range of dishes which gave me the opportunity to try things that I hadn't before and I enjoyed every moment. Whilst the food itself was wonderful, it was the restaurant and kitchen staff that really took my visit to another level. Everyone was very warm and friendly, not to mention attentive. I was looked after incredibly well, especially by John's team in the kitchen. Thank you for such a fantastic experience and I definitely plan to return.

We stayed one night and we had dinner on site. This is a beautiful house in a very delicate English garden. From the moment we arrived, the staff looked after us, made us feel welcome and very special. We had an exceptional dinner with a 6 courses menu served at perfect temperature and with paired wines, recommended by the sommelier. The breakfast was also a beautiful experience in the exquisitely decorated dining area. 2 comments for this place to be really heaven on earth: . Sleep: the mattress was very very soft to a point we did not sleep well at all. It felt like we were sleeping on a waterbed, which is very uncomfortable especially after dinner. . The selection of champagne is very good, however £25/£30+ a glass plays the magic of the place down.
Raphael F — Google review
We ate in the restaurant, enjoying the 6 course menu. The restaurant is setup such that even when full each table still feels private. Service was unobtrusive but warm and professional. Food was excellent- fresh ingredients, good use of taste, colour and texture. A great meal, if slightly on the expensive side.
Jules T — Google review
We were at this restaurant a month ago. The place is very nice and welcoming, and the waiters are friendly. However, the food definitely leaves a lot to be desired for the price. Not to mention that they charge us £6 per bottle for tap water, even though they would take it away and put in a new one if it wasn't finished. I'm sorry, but I don't think we'll be back.
Monica P — Google review
I booked lunch at Fischer’s to celebrate my surprise proposal to my partner which I decided to do just before lunch nearby at Bamford Edge. Fischer’s were incredibly helpful and made the day extra special with little added touches. When we arrived, they were waiting for us with two glasses of champagne, then when we got to the table, the waiter gave us a Baslow Hall postcard which had been signed by the staff to commemorate the day. The food and the service were both exceptional and we had a superb lunch to celebrate our engagement which was perfect. Finally, they gave us a complimentary slice of carrot cake to finish the meal off - this was also very tasty! Thank you to all of the team at Fischer’s who went above and beyond to make this special day even more memorable. We will be back! Would highly recommend!

Wow what a wonderful hotel!! We had a 2nts stay at Fischer's. Everything about our stay was 5* from our arrival welcome to our departure. Our room Number 4 Garden Room was absolutely amazing so spacious and comfortable. Breakfast was superb. Our dinner in the restaurant absolutely faultless. What makes this hotel stand out are all the staff. They are so friendly, helpful and totally professional. Thank you Fischer's for providing us with an amazing stay. We cannot wait to return!!

We booked this on a recommendation from a work colleague who had been before, we were amazed at the level of service we received, all of the staff were spot on and Otto was so lovely, very attentive and informative, the food was stunning. The whole experience was 5 star from start to finish thank you so much we will definitely be back 👏🙌🥂

Nestled in the picturesque village of Baslow, The Cavendish Hotel is undergoing a stunning transformation with a 1.1 million makeover. The elegant bedrooms feature four-poster beds and antique furnishings, offering a luxurious stay for visitors. The hotel's high-end dining options include the casual Garden Room and the formal fine diner overseen by chef Adam Harper. With impeccable local sourcing, including Chatsworth beef, the brilliant food and ambience have garnered praise from many.
We recently celebrated my daughter’s 18th birthday here. We had use of a private dining room just beside the gallery restaurant. The whole team were exceptionally attentive. We were made to feel like very special guests. Nothing was too much trouble. The food was delicious, beautifully presented and prompt to arrive. A truly memorable experience. Thank you so much to all of the staff who looked after us so professionally.

Apart from lunch in the Orangery, we’ve not been to the Cavendish Hotel for a long time, in fact it was Valentine's 2012, we were the only customers! Since then the establishment has taken on a new lease of life to the point it is currently The Times “hotel of the year”, so we decided to revisit, and here we are for dinner. We arrive early to sit out on the patio for a glass of house champagne, enjoying the view and crisp bubbles. The menus arrive and make our choices for three courses that are variable, the other three are set in this six-course tasting menu. Once seated, bread and other things take nearly 30 minutes to arrive, but the pace improves after that. Each course is exquisitely presented and tastes fabulous, without exception. Poached cod on a wonderful cream sauce; tomato tartare with rich basil granita; trout expertly sous-vide; beef - tasting more like rib-eye than fillet - with a medley of onions had an incredibly rich trio of sauces. Pre-desert was a sharp explosion of tastes, grapefruit, basil and lycee, finally either mille-feuille or chocolate marquise, the latter a complex and delightful end to our dinner. We loved the matched wines, very well paired with each course, the beautiful presentation of each course, the acompanying sauces each a gourmet experience themsleves. We felt the service was not quite there, and why oh why should we have to set our own cutlery? (Towards the end of the dinner there was a complete staff change and it is set for the last course.) With the matched wines it is £129 a head, quite modest compared to some places, and certainly worth every penny.

Spent a lovely night here to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The room was very nicely presented and cosy; the reception staff were extremely helpful and the food in the Gallery Restaurant was exceptional. To cap it all off, lunch on the terrace the following day featured the best pork pie I have ever tasted!
James B — Google review
A truly wonderful evening. Some of the best food I’ve ever had! Well presented beautifully cooked and delicious flavours. The staff are very attentive and the lad who described the dishes as they came out made the meal delicious before we even started. Thanks so much thoroughly enjoyed!
Joseph P — Google review
The bones are there for The Cavendish to be terrific - it’s a beautiful, meticulously designed countryside hotel that was just named The Times’s Best UK Stay for 2025. Our experience left us desiring more, and at £300 per night I can’t recommend it. The biggest drawback is that the level of service just isn’t quite there - most of the staff are lovely and very friendly, but when we were checking out I mentioned to the receptionist that we were getting the bus to Sheffield and asked if she knew how we paid for it. She didn’t know and she made absolutely no effort to try and find us an answer - there were two other members of staff next to her and when I gently asked if perhaps someone else might know, she said ‘no one takes the bus to work’ and made zero effort to ask them. This just isn’t the level of service I expect for £300 a night and even less from a place with so many accolades. Politeness goes a long way, and a ‘I’m not sure, but let me see if I can find out’ was all it needed. Instead, it felt somewhat frowned upon that we were getting the bus to Sheffield in the first place. The rooms are nice and comfortable - other than a few cobwebs around the ceiling, I cannot fault them. The decor in and around the common areas is beautiful as well. Breakfast on both mornings was delicious, although I wasn’t sure why they sat us in The Garden Room instead of The Gallery for our second breakfast. Why leave the nicest dining room in the building empty? We ate in The Garden Room one night. My wife who is gluten free and vegetarian didn’t have many options - she ended up ordering the £19 broccoli and carrot main which in my opinion should be placed on the sides menu as it is incredibly overpriced for what amounts to essentially a plate of nothing but seasoned vegetables. A vegetarian risotto or the option of ordering gluten free pasta would be a welcome addition to the menu - there is so much wonderful produce from the estate to choose from that I hope they improve this. I had the steak, which was nice. On the plus side, the lounge area is lovely and the cocktails are phenomenal - they made the best espresso martini I’ve ever had. Staff wasn’t sure if the bar snacks contained gluten and had no way of checking either. It’s a shame to write this review as we were so ready to love The Cavendish and recommend it to friends and family. We made some lovely memories at Chatsworth during our stay, and the access-anytime-you-want tickets are great, but we feel no rush to return at £300 a night.
Michael M — Google review
This is the for the Garden Room restaurant. We had an early bird lunch here which was very good value. £15 for 2 courses £20 for 3. Choice of starters were almost identical but tasty. Mains were small but well cooked. You would probably need 3 courses to satisfy you. Service was friendly and efficient and the location can’t be beat. An easy walk in to Chatsworth. Prices are very high for a la carte. Even in London I haven’t seen someone charge £16 for their desserts but I admire their nerve if people are prepared to pay it.
Michael M — Google review
We stayed here for our anniversary for two nights, dining in the garden room on one of them. We had a brilliant experiments both with our stay and meal. Expensive, yes, but as a treat it was a lovely experience to be based so closed to Chatsworth (which was a lovely 30 minute walk away) and have great rooms and delicious food.
Alex T — Google review
I had the loveliest overnight stay here. The staff were so helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. My room was very comfortable and clean. Lots of pillows. I had a splendid bath, which ran very quickly. My meals were delicious. The hotel is set in the prettiest location with a large car park. I walked to Chatsworth House twice from the back of the hotel. I recommend this hotel and would definitely stay here again. Thank you.

Nestled in the heart of the Derbyshire Dales and Peak District, Wildhive Callow Hall is a unique country house hotel offering a luxurious Victorian setting with extensive gardens. The hotel boasts plush and simple rooms, an elegant hall with elaborate ceilings, oak staircases, and fresh flowers adding magnificent color and scents to each room.
Absolutely beautiful spot, the grounds alone could have kept me there a week. The entire team were friendly and the kitchen was accommodating to my partner who has some tricky dietary requirements. It’s luxurious without being pretentious, which is exactly the sort of place you want to relax in after a long day walking. Thank you team Wild Hive!

I secretly booked to stay in one of the Wild Hives with my partner following my surprise proposal earlier in the day at Bamford Edge. The staff went above and beyond to ensure that our stay was perfect, magical and memorable. Shortly after booking, I received an email from the Front Of House Manager asking when I would be free to speak on the phone. We had a call and discussed what they could do to help make our stay extra special. She suggested decorating the room with fairy lights and rose petals on the bed, putting a bottle of Prosecco in the room for us to enjoy, having pizzas delivered to the room for dinner and finally finishing the evening off in the forest toasting marshmallows over a fire. I really appreciated all the thought that went into this and it all turned out perfectly. We loved everything about our stay and it made a special day very memorable! Thank you to all the staff for making our stay enjoyable from start to finish - we will be back!

Lovely hotel, clean and well finished rooms. Service on the main reception was very good. Service in the restaurant is not very attentive, had to keep asking for service, to place food and drinks orders, for tables to be cleaned outside etc. It wasnt overly busy when we stayed. Fantastic bike rides and walks in the local area.

Located in Grindleford Bridge, The Maynard is a luxury boutique hotel nestled in the heart of the picturesque English Peak District National Park. This charming country house offers contemporary guestrooms, a fine dining restaurant, and beautiful gardens. Emphasizing support for local businesses, the hotel features bespoke bedroom furniture crafted by a local carpenter and serves food and drinks sourced from nearby farms, breweries, and distilleries.
Absolutely wonderful two-night stay at The Maynard. The location is perfect for walks, and Chatsworth House is only a short drive away. The room was lovely - very clean and comfortable. Breakfast and dinner were very tasty, and so was the afternoon tea. I have coeliac disease so can only eat gluten free food, and The Maynard was able to offer a huge variety of gluten-free options, prepared without cross-contamination (the owner has coeliac disease, so they are very aware of the correct processes). Thank you very much to the staff - Grace and colleagues were friendly and professional! I would definitely recommend staying here and enjoying the fantastic food and surroundings.

Overnight stay with breakfast after family wedding. Rooms lovely and clean and all staff very friendly and welcoming. I have only given 3 stars as I was very disappointed with the breakfast. Wasn't given any advice on what you could order, opted for full English and asked for it without black pudding. Came with pudding and no tomatoes. Also just after saw other guests with cereals and fruit! That was never offered to us. Tea came in a delightful pot but this only made it cold. Good job it was included in price of the room or would be asking for refund. Worst breakfast ever had in a hotel. Spoilt the overall stay as I always look forward to a nice selection of food the morning after.

Incredible food, great service. The fillet steak was one of the best steaks I've ever had. My friends Chicken Supreme was beautifully tender too. Great tastes, lovely triple cooked chips and a gorgeous peppercorn sauce. The mushroom rarebit was also super. Definitely recommended, will be back again soon.

Stayed here for a wedding that was taking place at this venue and what a lovely time me and my partner had, came a day early and had dinner at the restaurant and the food was fantastic and the staff couldn't have been more accommodating if they tried, will forever be dreaming of that salmon scotch egg. The bar was also very nice and had a cosy vibe with plenty of seating for couple or groups, with good options for known beers and local options aswell. The room was very spacious and looked over the gardens. Overall would absolutely stay here again should we ever have an event nearby or a walk planned.

Where do I start? This place looks amazing inside and out, giving Hogwarts/Harry Potter vibes. The staff were kind enough to give us a room upgrade on arrival. The rooms are very spacious, has lots of amenities and an outstanding view of the surrounding hills and scenery. The staff were extremely friendly, always at our service when we needed it. The food was outstanding. Highly recommend the eggs royale for breakfast. The outdoor areas are very nice, giving romantic and relaxing vibes. Would definitely recommend to anyone visiting the Peak District.

National park
The Peak District National Park, the United Kingdom's first national park established in 1951, offers a diverse range of landscapes and rich local history. Encompassing villages, museums, hiking trails, and camping areas, it is a year-round recreation destination. The park's name may have originated from the Pecsaetan tribe of Anglo-Saxons who lived in the area during the 6th century AD.
Peak District offers stunning landscapes, rolling hills, and beautiful villages. We visited Mam Tor, Speedwell Cavern, Poole's Cavern, Cave Dale, had an adventurous hike to the B29 Overexposed crash site and more. The park is home to diverse wildlife, interesting historic sites, and diverse hiking trails making it perfect for everyone. If you are looking to escape into nature, this is a must visit destination!

Peak District National Park is absolutely stunning—rolling hills, peaceful trails, and breathtaking views at every turn. It’s perfect for walking, cycling, or just relaxing in nature. The wildlife is a treat to watch, especially the sheep and lambs! A brilliant destination for all ages, and a true escape into the countryside.

Loved this park- lots of trails up/down the big peak and little paved lanes down into town. Beautifully maintained for a park that’s free to enter! Very dog friendly, I’d imagine it gets busy on the weekends. Along the paved lane into town you’ll pass a children’s playground and then a ton of pet friendly cafes to enjoy a drink and a bite to eat (most places I saw also advertise as dog friendly!)

Visited Bakewell for the day 3rd July and wow so glad we did. The scenery on the drive was so beautiful and didn't disappoint when we arrived. Beautiful weather and such a beautiful place to visit. Had a lovely dinner then went for a lovely walk along the river. Lots of benches to sit and watch the world go by. What a great way to enjoy a lovely day out. I recommend that anyone visit.

Nestled in a rural setting, the Peak Edge Hotel and Red Lion Restaurant offers chic and modern simple rooms with free breakfast. The 17th-century stone floored tavern exudes a James Herriot vibe with its vault and snug-filled pub, while the 26 bedrooms boast Hypnos beds, rainforest shower bathrooms, and colorful floral bedheads. The adjacent Red Lion Restaurant is known for its decent gin menu and perfectly mixed cocktails, offering high-end gastro pub style dining.
If you love the countryside and a bit of peace and quiet, this place is ideal. The rooms are spotless, really spacious and come with good tea and coffee facilities. The bath is a great size too if you fancy a proper soak and some relaxation. Food wise, the restaurant and bar area is excellent. Main courses average at around £20 or you can go for the three course menu that’s £33, which is definitely worth it. Breakfast is included and has loads of choice. The full English was top notch but there are also other warm options available as well as pastries, muffins, cereals, toast or fruit if you want something lighter. The attention to detail around the hotel is something to talk about, it makes the place feel special. The staff are also great and really helpful, attentive and quick to sort things out. We had a small issue with one of our rooms, and they resolved it straight away. Overall, a lovely stay and I’d happily recommend it.

What a find this place is! Stayed here and had a beautiful room overlooking the lake and gardens. Reception staff are welcoming and the serving staff next door at The Red Lion looked after us wonderfully. The food was delicious and the restaurant/ bar area so pretty and comfortable. We took an after dinner walk in the beautifully landscaped grounds and enjoyed a drink on the terrace. Would definitely recommend
Karen H — Google review
I scored 4/5 as the only issue was that our room was closed to reception and therefore there was some noise. We could also hear someone's TV at 6.45am in the morning. Although this didn't bother us too much, it may have got others. The room was large, beautifully decorated, clean and comfortable. My OH thought the bed had a sag in it, however, I slept fine and had no such issue. We only stayed 1 night so nothing was an issue. The restaurant food for both dinner and breakfast was delicious. Drinks were expensive, typical hotel prices. The staff and team were excellent, friendly, approachable and professional. All-in-all it was a lovely night away with delicious food. I'd definitely recommend it.

Whilst we didn’t stay on this occasion, I know from past experience the rooms are wonderful with great views. We ate in the Red Lion restaurant, the service from the initial greeting and throughout the meal service was excellent. The staff were also exceptionally smart in their uniforms and polite and good humoured. Lots of choice on the menus and all the food was extremely good. Special mention to Eryn, our server who made our visit extremely pleasurable, thank you

Room 104. From the moment we arrived, the service was impeccable. The staff were warm, welcoming, and went out of their way to make our stay special. The room was spotless, beautifully designed, and offered stunning views of the lake. The Red Lion restaurant was fantastic the breakfast and evening dinner were 5 star. Would highly recommend this Hotel to anyone looking for a relaxing 5 star experience. Cant wait to come back.

Have been here many times and found the menu to be extremely repetitive, dull and tasteless. Always the same creamy sauces, nothing is explained in detail by waitresses who are usually clueless and speak fast offering zero clarity and just more confusion. Better to spend more and go to place where the chefs come and speak to you or waiters give accurate details. Read many reviews where customers did not get what they expected. Why? Because no-one bothers explaining correctly. The desserts are sickly sweet. Been to many nice places and they dont pack desserts with sugar. Here the food in general re the mains is quantity over quality so basically for fat unhealthy people or those wishing to go in that direction...and if you order dessert expect to feel like you have had 10 spoons of sugar and little taste of anything else. Sorry to be blunt but id rather say it how it is. Ps the bulls head round corner is exceptional in food quality and customer service.

Red Lion – Lunch Review We visited the Red Lion for lunch on a Thursday and were impressed by the venue itself – it’s clear they’ve invested considerably to create a modern, contemporary atmosphere. The staff were friendly and well-trained, offering a warm welcome. Unfortunately, the food didn’t quite match the setting. While visually appealing, the flavours were rather bland. The fishcake was heavy on potato and light on fish, and the garden pea risotto lacked depth. The biggest let-down, however, was the service speed. Despite the restaurant not being particularly busy, starters took 30 minutes to arrive, and mains followed a further 45 minutes later. With a strict 90-minute table limit, this left little time to enjoy the meal. Overall, a stylish venue with good service, but the kitchen needs to improve both flavour and timing.

I absolutely love this place!!. We try to visit as much as possible for so many reasons. The food is just stunning, using great local produce. Staff are so helpful and friendly. The location is beautiful with indoor and outdoor spaces so comforting and welcoming. It isn't the cheapest around but I feel that is reflected in the quality. Visit highly recommended.

Chatsworth House is a grand stately home located near Bakewell in the Peak District. It offers visitors the chance to explore its lavishly decorated corridors and learn about its rich history. The estate also features a playground, farmyard, and lush grounds perfect for romantic walks or even bringing along your furry friend.
I cannot speak highly enough about this place, it is just "wow" from start to finish. Parking was easy, even on a busy Saturday, the house is awesome, from the gilt Versailles like gates, every room is jaw dropping, completely over the top, lavish decor, painted frescoes on the ceilings and walls, beautiful ornate plasterwork, carved wall panels, leather embellished walls, fabulous chandeliers, gorgeous paintings and a ton of really beautiful pieces of art, ceramics and statues. The staff are super helpful and friendly, I recommend the audio guide, it is very informative. There is a lovely gift shop selling high quality gifts, including Chatsworth's jams, chutney, drinks and house related gifts. Outside the grounds don't disappoint, there are huge greenhouses and plants to see and buy. There is the famous fountain and lake featured in Pride and Prejudice, a massive rockery garden, made from massive stacked granite slabs, I've never seen anything like it. There is a giant hedge maze and beautiful views from wherever you are in the grounds. I believe there is a children's play area and farmyard, but I didn't visit there as I was too tired after all the walking. The only thing I didn't really enjoy was the sandwich I got from the deli van, it was quite expensive and the bread was really thick and overwhelmed the filling. Ice cream and sandwiches cost around £7+. There is a restaurant there but I can't comment on that as I didn't use it. There are plenty of well maintained public toilets but not inside the house. Standard Adult entry is £32, including parking, which is on the high side, but in my opinion it is worth it.

We bought our tickets to the house in advance and I would recommend this as it can get quite busy. I visited with my Nan who uses a walker and the staff couldn't have done more to help her. She was escorted to lifts which meant she didn't miss a thing. Several times she was asked if she'd like a buggy ride to different parts of the estate, but even being a little frail she managed to walk most places with her walker. Overall we loved our visit. The food we had, although quite expensive, was well worth it and very delicious! The sights we saw were amazing. The house and grounds are kept immaculately and we enjoyed learning about the history of the estate. We were there for 5 hours and still didn't get to see everything, but then we weren't in a rush. Oh and cute cats in the kitchen garden are a bonus too! I loved being able to fuss them. I would definitely recommend a visit.

An absolutely gorgeous house and gardens. We had lunch in the stable block. Then went a bit crazy in the orangery gift shop buying Christmas decorations. Each room of the house is very grand and opulent. Stunning. It has to be one of the nicest houses I have ever visited.

We enjoy visiting Chatsworth House. This time an art exhibition was on display, which changed the experience in a positive way. We don’t always get to see the animals, but we were able to this time around. The weather was great. The staff were helpful. We had a poke around the shops. A lovely day out. I would recommend to anyone, especially if you haven’t been before

Amazing place. Really beautiful, grand, elegant and steeped in history. A definite place to visit if you are nearby. I can imagine it gets very busy at weekends or school holidays so it you can go during the week off peak. Plenty to see and do and the gardens are huge. I was expecting it to be good but it exceeded my expectations. The price you pay is very reasonable for what you get access too. The gardens are also dog friendly. There is plenty of parking and you can pay for tickets once you have parked up, no need to book in advance. Would happily go back and do it all again.
Ian T — Google review
The bonfire and fireworks event was amazing! A few tips for anyone planning to attend next year: bring waterproof boots, as the garden can get muddy if it rains, and a warm puffer jacket will keep you comfortable throughout the night. Parking is free, and there are plenty of food stands, so you won’t have to worry about what to eat.
Irene — Google review
Very beautiful experience! Unfortunately, it was a bit windy for us to tour the gardens, but the rooms and gallery were exquisite! It was a bit busy with tourists (as it would be), but I appreciated that they stuck to the artifacts and history rather than leaning into the easy tourist trap of Pride & Prejudice (although there is a small share of merchandise dedicated to it). It was a short trip from our stay in Peak National Park and the drive is really stunning.

The Old Hall Inn, a historic coaching inn turned pub, is located in the charming village of Chinley at the western edge of the Peak District. The inn offers warmly decorated rooms with modern amenities such as smart TVs and free Wi-Fi. Guests can enjoy a cozy ambiance with wood burners and open fireplaces while savoring top-quality food and a wide selection of real ale. The family-run 16th-century inn provides en suite rooms, some featuring grand four-poster beds.
I can't comment on staying in the rooms here, however the food in the restaurant has always been absolutely phenomenal. Quality of food is some of the best I've ever tasted and the service has always been top notch. Big well done to all of the staff for creating a brilliant and comfortable atmosphere for people to dine and drink in. One of the easiest recommendations I'll ever make, I'm constantly telling friends and family about this place. Keep up the amazing work!

We stayed here recently for our honeymoon. The atmosphere at the restaurant and pub was really good. The food was amazing, really recommend the doughballs at the pizzeria, they were the best we’ve ever had. The food at the main restaurant was delicious - we shared the Korean BBQ short rib and the pork schnitzel. Room was spacious and comfortable and the staff were really attentive. Loads of great beers on tap.

Excellent service & food, highly recommended! One star lost (and this is my fault for not checking the bill properly before paying) for including a service charge without bringing it to my attention before I left a tip, maybe I didn't read the small print, maybe I'm supposed to tip on top of the service charge, but a £38 service charge then tipping another £30 (no gripes about the service they did a great job!) without realising the service charge was built in felt a bit much, putting it politely. Edit regarding owner response: I wouldn't dream of taking the tip back, we were a party of 11 & I didn't see the service charge on the paper menu sheets that we were given, so it is what it is, I'm back overseas now, glad to have supported the local economy & I've given your star back for offering.

We had a lovely meal with our family in the beautiful garden of the Old Hall Inn: pizza's from the Papermill Inn, beer battered haddock, and a great burger. The atmosphere was relaxed and lively (call it a pleasantly organized chaos). Beautiful old buildings, beautifully decorated inside. A good selection of draft beers. I'd love to see places with this atmosphere, where all kinds of people of all ages gather, in the Netherlands too!

Lovely building & setting, food great but service spasmodic. Nothing too serious but no one always available/ accessible if an enquiry arises. Also the weather was VERY HOT during our stay - inadequate ventilation in our lovely bedroom but no fans provided & no one available to ask.

A beautiful pub deep in the countryside. Make sure you dont miss this place if you are in the area. Stopped by today and had a sharing roast for two and I csn say it was absolutely divine. Had the parfait to start which was also perfect. Team were attentive and welcoming and took care of us with ease. We will certainly be back. Prices were competitive and we'll worth the level of food served here. Our bill came to around £86.00 with two starters sharer roast and two drinks each.

Love stopping at The Old Hall Inn every time I’m heading out from Manchester Airport. It’s always reliably wonderful—all the food is consistently excellent and the atmosphere is just right. And the cask beers? Absolutely top-notch—this cosy 16th-century inn is known for its “extensive selection of traditional hand-pulled cask ales and ciders” and a wonderfully lively vibe from its regular following . It’s a great mix of hearty, home-cooked meals and some of the best real ales around—highly recommended and will definitely be my go-to before travel every time!

The Devonshire Arms at Beeley is a charming 1747 country inn with stylish bedrooms and a vibrant brasserie offering upscale pub fare. It's the sister pub to The Devonshire Arms at Pilsley, both designed by the Duchess of Devonshire. The inn features a mix of traditional and contemporary elements, including oak beams and flagstone floors in the original pub, as well as a glass-walled brasserie.
What a lovely pub. We had lunch here on 5/7/25 after stumbling across it. The staff were so friendly and accommodating. We had lunch with our very overstimulated rescue dog and the lovely young lady couldn't have been more helpful; locating a table in the corner for us and made us feel very welcome. The food was great also 😋 We will definitely return!

The 'spacious double room' was very small, would have been fine for one person staying. The menu was quite limited and the stake and ale pie had gristle in it. Breakfast took a long time coming. The room was very clean and the cookies a welcome surprise but unfortunately the TV remote control was very dirty. On a positive note the staff were all very friendly and helpful

The pub has been rebranded and is a lovely pub serving good beers and delicious food - I can highly recommend the Burger and the Steak and Ale pie. The service was excellent. The only slightly disappointing element was the Homity pie which didn't hit the heights of the other dishes. The desserts were fantastic 😍

Didn't stay here but had great food tonight. Service was impeccable and the food was outstanding. Wife and I both had sirloin of beef, shallot puree, cavalo nero and potato tagine...really, really good. Everything was cooked to absolute perfection and the service was fantastic. Dessert was lush too and a fine selection of beer. Highly recommended if you are around Chatsworth and worth a drive out to ❤️🙏

Plenty of parking. Beautifully situated. Accommodation is well appointed with a Nespresso coffee machine, fridge, ironing board and iron, and little extras like fresh milk for your tea/coffee plus delicious biscuits. The restaurant dinner was pricey but well worth it - the 3 fruit crumble (dessert) a particular highlight! But breakfast was surprisingly disappointing by comparison (bacon was rock hard, sausage overcooked, and tomato cooked so much there was no actual tomato to enjoy), but the fruit juice and fresh fruit and self-serve area was wonderfully fresh. And overall the service thoughout the trip was attentive and very friendly. Would easily recommend.

Went for a meal. The restaurant area is very light and modern with the pub remaining oldy worldy. The food was lovely and the service exemplary. Ben was rushed off his feet but his service was still top notch. He thanked us for waiting at one point but we weren’t in a hurry and we were happy chatting and not feeling rushed. My friend went to the loo which included some steps and Ben made time to make sure she got there safely (as using a stick). We had a lovely evening. Parking is tricky but worth it.

We stayed for one night. A beautiful hotel in a great location, across from pavilion gardens walking distance from the station and parking direct outside. Well appointed and furnished rooms, and friendly, helpful staff. We had breakfast in the restaurant and highly recommend for breakfast or lunch if you're in Buxton.

We had our wedding reception at No.6 this weekend. It was absolutely fantastic, ran like clockwork and the team here are so lovely, welcoming and professional. The venue is stunning, and really showcases the unique heritage of Buxton in the beautiful High-Peak of North Derbyshire. We would recommend ‘No.6 The Tearooms’ to anyone who is looking for an intimate venue in a beautiful setting, any day of the week. We will be back to celebrate an anniversary without any doubt. Thanks!!

I had hoped, after having travelled many miles, and booking well in advance, that afternoon tea would have been a lovely precursor to a show at the Opera House. Unfortunately it was not. There are 3 areas in the restaurant: a lovely lounge area, a cosy more rural themed area and the service area, where staff are coming back and forth and people pay at the till in front of the counter. On arrival I was seated in the service area. Someone really needs to get the staff to understand that afternoon tea is an experience not just food. That's why you pay more!!!!. However, after being relocated tea was brought out. The sandwiches were too thickly filled and had one half white bread and one half brown. It didn't taste right and staff should ask which is preferable. Then the Scones...just awful. I couldn't eat mine. So big, but dense, salty and dry. It was like eating a lump of brown bread with jam and cream. If it wasn't for the raisins I would have mistaken them for that. The cakes were nice, but only one pavlova and there were two of us. I would have reflected all this back, but no-one came to ask us if everything was ok. It was a busy day but that is no excuse. I still had to pay £54, not value for money and will not be back or be recommending.

Place is lovely and the staff are friendly, but the service on a Saturday evening was very poor. We had booked for 8pm, pre-booked out meals and arrived early. Despite this, our meals arrived almost an hour late, and we're, for the most part, pretty poor. There are clearly plenty of people who love this place so I'll put it down to a bad day, but a shame nonetheless. If the meals were better, the value is pretty good for what you get.

Booked dinner in the hotel for a singing group of 27 on a busy Friday evening! Joey masterminded our orders and delivery efficiently and a touch of humour. Brilliant service and superb nosh (steak & ale pie followed by one of the best sticky toffee puds I've ever had).

The main thing this place has apart from where it is, is wonderful staff. To say staff isn't fair, more like a family who can't help enough, whether it's shuffling rooms to sort a mistake we made with the booking or giving ideas for walking routes with our very welcome dog. The rooms are cosy if a little tired but we spent most of our time walking the dog so that didn't worry me. To summarise, very welcoming and helpful, we always found ourselves in conversation with people we'd just met when in the bar, lovely.

Guests can savor fresh seasonal dishes like roast pheasant and blade of beef, as well as traditional pub favorites.
Awesome. Incredible food with novel ideas (pickled blackberry?!) in a very informal and relaxed setting (I was wearing a jacket and tie, with other diners in polo shirts and shorts and none of us looked out of place!). Great value too - especially the tasting menus. We had 5 courses and came away filled but not stuffed, and each one had something different to the others so held our interest the whole way through. The wine menu was well stocked but not overly so, and seems reasonably priced. Would heartily recommend.

Terrible experience. Got confirmation from the restaurant 2 weeks advance that they can do a proper vegan set menu. It ended up being an afterthought especially when you compare to the vegetarian set menu. For example they could have made the gnocchi and risotto vegan but made no effort whatsoever to do so. Instead I just got a few pieces of veg. For the 2 dessert courses I just got back to back sorbet. Was left hungry after the meal. When informing the waiter, he agreed with my comments but made no effort to resolve the issue. Safe to say I won't be back. Never had this kind of issue with any other fine dining establishment. Edit: Since posting my honest review of my experience, the restaurant tried to bribe me into taking down my review (see pic). I wonder how many people they've tried this with...

Stayed for two nights and had breakfast. Very nice, comfortable rooms with added comforts in room of nice teas, coffee and sherry! Breakfast was amazing. We didn't dine for dinner unfortunately. Beer was good and drinks reasonably priced. Check opening times beforehand as they have limited opening times, which is a shame as it is a very nice place to pop in to.

Lovely menu and the waiting staff were very friendly and accommodating. The terrine with piccalilli was ten out of ten delicious. Coming in at £27 for two courses it is not fantastically cheap but the cookery was undoubtedly excellent. A few minor things have created a four rather than five star rating: There were no napkins on the table Our wine was not poured for us or put in an ice bucket We were not checked on after receiving our mains We were not offered water These are all minor issues in what was otherwise an excellent meal.

Friends had recommended this restaurant to us and we weren’t disappointed. The food was wonderful and much better than you might expect in an “Inn”. The staff were very pleasant and seemed very knowledgeable about the food being served and if they didn’t know the answer they would go & find out for you. Thank you for the recommendation for the Sticky Toffee Pudding, best ever, only problem was my husband didn’t just try it he ate about half of it. Will be back soon.

Disappointed evening. We arrived for our anniversary meal a little early like most people do(7.45pm). Hoping to have a drink while taking in the atmosphere. When we arrived the waitress asked us if we would like to go straight to our table which was great, asking us if we would like water bringing. She handed us the wine menu and off she went. Enjoying our own company 30 minutes went by without an order been placed food or drink. Not even a glass of water. Lacking atmosphere and friendly smiles from the staff we decided to leave. By this time the manager asked why so I explained his reply was “you turned up early you have not waited 30 min” Not even an apology...... I find this establishment unprofessional

Booked this Pub/ Restaurant for a special occasion and after reading various reviews was looking forward to it immensely we booked the little caravan site around the corner from the pub for two nights and travelled 2hrs to there. What a dissapointment the Restaurant turned out to be!! The greeting was negative to start with, the atmosphere was none existent it felt like somebody's front room, the staff were at best capable of bringing food to the table!! All in all it was a bad experience never to return again somebody need to get a grip and make it a far more pleasant experience.

Good food but the ambience was not up to the same quality. The welcome was non existent and the service poor. Tired decor and surroundings like a cross between a trendy pub and my granny’s front room. We were looking forward to a good dining experience but sadly we left feeling as though no one would care that we were very disappointed.

Ensana Buxton Crescent is an elegant 18th-century hotel located in the charming spa town of Buxton. Following a recent 70 million renovation, this Neoclassical Georgian landmark offers refined rooms and suites, a luxurious spa, and exquisite dining options. The hotel's rich history as a premier spa destination in Georgian times is seamlessly blended with modern amenities, including an indoor/outdoor rooftop pool, Victorian baths, salt cave, and aromatherapy steam rooms.
The hotel and spa facilities were absolutely stunning. Our room (408)was beautiful , it was like our own apartment. And the spa was very well maintained and very clean. And all the staff were more than helpful. A glass of fizz on arrival was a nice touch. The only thing we think let the experience down was the breakfast. Which was such a shame as we were so looking forward to it. In our opinion it wasn’t worth £25 each. My husband had the full English breakfast, he said the bacon and sausages were delicious, but the black pudding didn’t taste of anything. I had the eggs Benedict, the poached eggs were spot on, the ham was cold, as was the muffin, which didn’t seem to be toasted to me. Overall though it’s a beautiful hotel to stay at, and the spa facilities were fabulous! I would recommend it to our family and friends. We would definitely stay again, just maybe order a different breakfast? I hope you take this as positive feedback, as I think feedback of any kind is helpful.

We had the most incredible experience at Buxton Crescent from the customer service to the attention to detail we could not have asked for more. We were staying for my daughter’s 21st and it was perfect from beginning to end. The hotel staff were fantastic and the spa was amazing. We had everything we wanted, a great room, so well appointed, a fantastic meal and a truly impressive breakfast! Thank you so much for a memorable stay. We can’t wait to come back soon.

I booked a 1 night stay with full use of the Spa facilities & Swedish back massage for my partner & me. This was a birthday surprise spa break for the other half, & both spa & hotel exceeded my expectations. The hotel went above & beyond by playing a birthday video on the tv in the room, happy birthday greeting decorated plate with a small biscuit & a signed birthday card wishing him a happy birthday & an enjoyable stay. That was such a nice touch, thank you so much for making it extra special. The building inside & out is absolutely stunning, & the food is to die for. The Spa also was very relaxing and we had a great massage. Staff very attentive & friendly. Highly recommend & we will definitely return. Many Thanks.

We had a great stay. Room excellent, clean and comfortable. Plenty of tea, coffee etc and all items were refreshed daily. The staff we interacted with were all polite and professional and we found it so nice that all the staff, even if they were in the middle of something, would take the time to say good morning if we were passing. We only ate breakfast at the hotel but good selection to choose from each day. Only downside is parking. You can have valet parking, payable to the hotel or you have to park at meters in the long stay car parks situated about a 5 - 10 minute walk from the hotel

Got married on 04/10/2025. Clear and prompt communication. Transparent with pricings. Everything ran on time. All the staff were professional and warm in mannerisms. Received loads of compliments on the choice of venue. Great places to photograph - inside and outside. Would recommend to any friends and family in the future :)

We visited as part of my wife's 50th Birthday celebrations. The experience from start to finish is exceptional with amazing facilities. The staff both in the spa itself, reception, and restaurant are all fantastic and couldn't do enough for you. Ellie-May in the restaurant stood out with exceptional service and made our afternoon tea a wonderful experience. I had an Indian head massage with Sandra who made me feel very comfortable as it was my first time with such an experience. She followed up with further advice on a hand written card and provided me with some samples of the oil products used in the massage. Highly recommended! Thank you!

Lovely hotel, comfy bed and nice room, however, we experienced a few issues during our stay. Hairs in the shower, unsafe shelf over the toilet, soap dispenser unclean, stained towel, uncomfortable flip flops for the spa. I asked if I could have some of the white slippers but was informed by spa staff that they didn’t have any. I have pins in my toes so the design of the flip flop with the toe piece caused me agony. I will bring my own footwear for the spa if I visit again. We were provided with complimentary prosecco at dinner for the inconvenience, which was appreciated. We ordered a starter and a main for dinner, although we were aware of the £55 allowance per person that was part of the package we booked. In fairness, the food was not bad. Steak was good quality, however, it only came with a tomato and mushroom, anything else was extra. I asked for peppermint tea at breakfast and was given what appeared to be English tea. When I raised this, the waitress said the person that made the tea had used specific tea and said it was some type of mint tea. I told her I drank peppermint tea everyday and I was sure it wasn’t peppermint. The waitress did then say she wasn’t convinced it was peppermint tea and found me a peppermint tea bag. I had to ask for another cup as the one I had was dirty. Another waitress changed it with no apology. The breakfast was good overall but I did feel like the service could be improved. On the whole the stay was pleasant and near to local amenities. The hotel just needs to pay more attention to cleanliness in rooms and customer service in the restaurant.

Really enjoyed our stay. The whole experience was great from start to finish. The only thing i would mention would be to request low volume relaxation music. Otherwise marvellous and weve already booked again.

Nestled in the heart of the Peak District, between Buxton and Ashbourne, Biggin Hall Hotel & Restaurant is a charming 17th-century country house hotel with a rich history. The property boasts traditional interiors adorned with antique furnishings and original features, while also offering modern amenities such as en suite bathrooms. Guests can cozy up by the large stone fireplace or explore the well-stocked library.
We have been a few times and would highly recommend the restaurant (we haven't stayed at the hotel yet.) It manages to be very high quality without being pretentious in any way, made possible partly through the friendliness of the staff. Adam in particular does everything he can to ensure customers have the best experience, and is passionate about making sure people are looked after, and he clearly loves his work. The restaurant has very good acoustics too, so even when it's busy nobody has to raise their voice to be heard while dining there. While this is something everyone can appreciate, it must make an extra difference to guests who are hard of hearing.

My husband and I recently enjoyed an afternoon tea. It's a beautiful historic building, with lovely peaceful gardens. The food was great, gf well catered for. The lady on reception was friendly and helpful, and the lady, with long fair hair who waited on our table was brilliant - very bubbly and so helpful. We had a lovely couple of hours and would recommend.

Lovely hotel, full of character, set in a peaceful and picturesque location, ideally placed for exploring the wider area. Every member of staff we spoke with were attentive and helpful. We particularly liked the unexpected bonus of a complimentary packed lunch, including on the day we returned home. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend to others and will definitely book again next time we visit the Peak District.

We were guests at a Wedding and simply had to post a review. The hotel has so much character and suitable location for local walks and attractions. The food was superb with exceptional comments from all on our table. I don't think I have been to any other function where we were greeted but impeccable staff who ensured we had such a wonderful experience. We didn't stay overnight but believe those that dud found there rooms extremely comfortable. I would nit hesitate to recommend this first class hotel. Thank you all

I had 4 criteria for finding a special place to stay as a treat to myself for my 60th birthday - olde worlde, 4 poster bed, in the Peak District, not overpriced. Biggin Hall Hotel immediately ticked all those boxes. It is almost a year since losing my mother so I needed a bit of a pick-me-up. I booked the most expensive suite with the 4 poster bed for 4 nights and I certainly wasn't disappointed. The staff were all extremely friendly and couldn't do enough for me. They even did me a special treat for my birthday (picture attached). All the food was delicious. The suite was absolutely gorgeous with an enormous bathroom and couldn't believe I'd ever be able to afford to stay in such a beautiful setting (inside and outside). I can't thank them all enough for helping to make my 60th the best birthday I've ever had. I know my mum would have absolutely loved this place too.
Val G — Google review
Well I've got absolutely nothing bad to say about this place and so won't. From the moment we arrived to the second we left it was about them doing things for us and not them trying to squeeze everthing from their guests. Sometimes it's the little things isn't. The small bottle of Prosecco along with cold beer and fresh milk waiting for us in the fridge. The thickness of the bacon the hotness of the plates, the friendliness of the staff, the quiet tranquility of the library or the ambiance created by the live pianist in the bar. Wonderful and without hesitation I would recommend Biggin Hall Hotel & Restaurant to anyone in need of a relaxing break.
Mark H — Google review
We had our wedding at Biggin Hall on 4th July, and it honestly exceeded all expectations. We chose Biggin Hall not just because of the stunning setting but because Paris and Andy actually listen to what you want from your day. For us it was a simple outdoor ceremony in their absolutely beautiful gazebo, dinner for us and 25 guests followed by drinks in the evening/outdoor games and time with our friends and family. We were fairly relaxed about the structure of the day, but even so, nothing was too much trouble - slight alterations to the wine list, organising Jonathan (the amazing pianist) to play while we ate, ensuring the tables were perfectly laid, and communicating everything to us perfectly both in the weeks and months leading up to the wedding and on the day. All the staff were phenomenal from start to finish: warm, attentive, and genuinely invested in making everything run smoothly. The food was beyond delicious – beautifully presented and praised by every guest we spoke to. Our guests were able to choose from a choice of 3 starters, mains and desserts and the food came out perfect and the portion sizes suited even the hungriest of our guests. The breakfasts are just amazing as well. Our friends and family talk about what an absolutely first class weekend it was. We feel so lucky to have celebrated our day in such a special place. Special thanks to Paris and Andy for always making us feel so welcome and at home. We couldn’t have asked for anything more.
Emma J — Google review
A bit overpriced for what you’re getting. The rooms seemed a bit tired, the breakfast menu and options were the same. Staff were too over the top in terms of trying to get people to dine there in the evening, and it was borderline desperation. For such an expensive room, there isn’t much else you’re getting. You get offered a packed lunch, but unless you’re walking, this is irrelevant, and the options on offer sub par.

Nestled within the picturesque Kedleston Hall estate, The Kedleston Country House offers a delightful escape just ten minutes from Derby's bustling center. This charming boutique hotel features five elegantly designed rooms that promise an intimate and cozy stay. Guests can indulge in a culinary experience crafted by head chef Adam Keeling, who elevates breakfast with a selection of continental delights and freshly prepared hot dishes, all complemented by a glass of champagne.
I booked this lovely venue for a baby shower and it did not disappoint! Sally was a great help and support during the booking process, answering all my questions and even accommodating a visit prior to the event. She was so helpful and polite! I wanted to do a half and half with the menu and Sally made sure with the chef that this would be possible, which it was! On the day, I was greeted by the lovely Cristy who went above and beyond to accommodate the event! I booked the Orangery and it was such a gorgeous room for the event with plenty of space! All the staff were lovely, but Cristy kept checking with me to make sure everything was okay which was so helpful and helped take away the stress from me! The food was great and all the guests enjoyed it due to the wide variety on offer. I would definitely recommend based on my experience with Sally & Cristy when booking and the venue being so beautiful!

We were booked in for an engagement afternoon tea. The car park is small so definitely get there early to park! The table looked lovely and there had been a wedding the evening before so they had used flowers and decorations from the wedding (picture attached). When we arrived there wasn’t a clear person to go to so we gathered in the foyer and I went and got someone to show us to our seats. It was £30.95 per adult with unlimited tea and coffee, but again we had 3 people who didn’t drink tea/coffee and who spend £5 per coke/cold drink at the bar and had to ask for water. We did feel we had to ask for more tea and coffee at times and felt once sat with food, that we were left to our own devices. The afternoon tea itself was okay - the scotch eggs had a LOT of meat around them and lacked breadcrumbs, the sausage rolls had a lot of meat but lack pastry and were a bit oily. The menu states scones and they came and were lovely, but all scones had sultanas in and we had 3 people in our party that didn’t like fruit scones. The quiche was sun-dried tomato (which we didn’t know either) and no other options. There were 10 adults and we were surprised we didn’t have a variety of scones. As well as this, you can phone up and state allergies, but it said a selection of cakes and we had carrot cake with pistachios on top, lemon cake with lemon and poppy seed and brownie. They were lovely but some of us didn’t like some of the cake. Toilets were very clean, we did have to move out after a couple of hours as they had to set the tables up for the evening meals but there wasn’t anywhere else for us to go apart from outside - there is a snug but not enough seats for 10 adults and 2 children. It was a glorious day of 25 degrees and nowhere to sit undercover. It would have been good to have some umbrellas. Overall we would give it 3 stars and after a family conversation, we said we wouldn’t go back and it was ‘nice’. We haven’t gushed about it.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ We had our wedding at The Kedleston Country House on 4th October 2025 and it was absolutely perfect from start to finish. The venue itself is so elegant and beautifully maintained, creating the most stunning backdrop for our day. Everything ran so smoothly, and a huge thank you goes to Helen, who was simply amazing — so organised, friendly, and made us feel completely at ease throughout the whole process. The tapas menu was incredible; our guests couldn’t stop talking about how delicious it was! We had so many compliments on both the food and the overall atmosphere. If you’re looking for a wedding venue that combines elegance, excellent service, and a relaxed, welcoming vibe, I couldn’t recommend The Kedleston Country House more highly!

This is a lovely family-run hotel just ten minutes from Derby city centre. Didn't have dinner but it was quite possibly the best hotel breakfast I've ever had! Friendly service and spacious rooms - good value for money. Oh and the shower pressure was fabulous. We were staying on a bank holiday weekend but it felt very quiet. There's a couple of small things they could do to elevate the property further, e.g. investing more in the toiletries, better cushions for the lounge areas, updating the cocktail menu. But I'm quite sure I'm being a fussy Londoner! Looked like a good spot for an intimate wedding.

Wow Wow what a beautiful friendly atmosphere and The Kedleston country House is absolutely beautiful. My daughter just got married here last weekend (if you are thinking of a marriage venue) the staff are amazingly tentative to all needs (amazing staff honestly) the food was out of this world especially the Beef Wellington all the food was hot when service was brought out and all the food was absolutely bloody amazing (chef Jimmy 🙏) The rooms are fantastic lovely and cosy and very fitting for this period building and very very clean. I would just like to say again a very big thank you to all the staff involved during my daughter's wedding (Rachel) and such a beautiful lovely venue. The breakfasts are the best in the world such fantastic staff and as you can tell I'm rambling but Kedleston Country House is absolutely beautiful for a wedding venue or a quiet country setting stay, Well done "The Kedleston Country House.

Restaurant Review Visited here for Friday lunch yesterday after being tempted by the small plates advertised and having seen them served to a wedding couple when we went for Sunday lunch previously we thought it worth a try. We arrived to be presented with a very limited menu, there were only 3 small plates because one wasn’t available. We ordered all 3 to try, the smoked salmon and prawn cocktail had clearly been sat under a heat lamp for some time and the smoked salmon was so tough I couldn’t cut through it. The halloumi fries were average and didn’t arrive with the salad advertised on the menu, the baked Camembert was fine (not hard to bake some cheese!) but they didn’t add the honey and the bread had also sat under the heat lamp so was dried out before it even got to us. My partner ordered the sausage and mash, the gravy was clearly bisto with some Guinness thrown into it and the mash tasted like packet mash with dried parsley. The plates were also dirty, it felt a lot like they simply couldn’t be bothered. From what I’ve read on here The Kedleston do events well, I would avoid it as a normal patron, they clearly weren’t serving the dishes they had advertised on socials. I can only assume the chef they enthuse about was off yesterday, otherwise it was an embarrassment to be associated with the food served.

Had an amazing night at the Riverside House Hotel. The service was impeccable, the food delicious and the rooms comfortable. We stayed in the Rafters room which was well equipped and extremely stylish, with a fantastic ensuite which had jack and jill basins and a roll top bath. Overall this place is absolutely awesome, it's a little on the pricey side (for us normal folk!), however as a special treat I think it is well worth the money. Will definitely be back again!

My 80th Birthday could not have been better than it was at such a Warm Friendly Professional but small hotel. At check in we were expected and it took no time at all to be shown to our room by the most friendly of gents. Inside our room we were given instructions on use of bathroom, TV . Yea Coffee and Room service details. WOW the best meet and greet ever in my 80 years. Every aspect of our one night stay was so brilliant. Three months from today is our 61st WEDDING ANNIVERSARY . We just simply rebooked a two night stay and we are so looking forward to returning to the RAFTERS AT RIVERSIDE HOUSE.

Food was excellent. We had an evening dinner upon arrival. The waiter we had was very attentive and personable. He was willing to spend time in conversation (by our choice) that made the meal all the better. His menu recommendations were spot on! Our room was one of, if not the nicest lodging we encountered during our 2 week tour of Yorkshire, Northumberland, Peak District and Cotswolds. The location is a good choice for someone seeking a picturesque setting for a wedding or honeymoon south of Manchester. The staff were very pleasant the entire visit. We had breakfast the following morning. A variety of choices, from full english to fresh fruit, pastries and health conscious choices as well. All in all, a great value for the well heeled. This was on the premier scale for us. In any case, we were treated like royalty for being Yanks. Kudos to all the staff!

Recently visited for a meal with friends. We didn't stay over on this occasion, but have already planned our next 3 night stay. The food was delicious as always, one friend opted for the pie of the day, declaring it to be " the best pie she had ever eaten" - this echoed the sentiments of my husband on our previous visit. We were able to sit outside in the lovely gardens with our after dinner drinks - a delight not to be missed. Located in the picturesque Peak District near the Dove Valley, The George is a charming old country inn offering traditional-style simple rooms and a cosy bar. While it used to be a pub, it has now transformed into an ambitious restaurant serving hearty pub grub. Visitors praise the chef's excellent and delicate cooking with clever flavors, making it one of the best dining spots in the area. However, some have noted that portions are on the smaller side.
In fact, I visited this place after being treated with extreme rudeness at a restaurant just a one-minute walk away, and I didn’t feel like eating anything. But I wish I had come here from the start. The man at the bar was especially kind. The waitresses were a bit formal, and I was tense because of my previous experience, but their quick service and attentive presentation of the menu showed me that it was simply because they were busy. I was particularly impressed by the cheese — it was delicious and tasted wonderfully fresh.

Had Sunday roast beef there. The meal tasted good but never have I had so little food for an £18.50 sunday roast. Literally 2 small roast potatoes, small portion of mash, 3 pieces of top roast beef, 1 Yorkshire pudding and very little gravy, plus a few veg on the side. I dont usually post reviews but am a little dissapointed I was expecting a larger meal.

We stayed at The George Pub and Rooms this weekend and had such a lovely time. It’s a charming family-run pub, and from the moment we arrived we were made to feel like part of the family. The atmosphere is welcoming and relaxed, exactly what you want for a weekend away. Our room was cozy, spotless, and the bed was incredibly comfortable. We both slept so well! Breakfast was included in our stay and absolutely delicious, with plenty of choice between hot and cold options. The omelette and full English were both fantastic, and the coffee and fresh juice were perfect to start the day. We also couldn’t resist buying some of the homemade preserves and jams made right there at the pub to take home, which was such a lovely touch. On Friday night we joined in the pub quiz at 9pm, which was great fun and a real highlight. Everyone got involved and it had such a friendly, community feel. We honestly couldn’t have asked for a better stay. Great food, lovely people, and a warm, welcoming atmosphere. Highly recommend and can’t wait to come back!

On our first night we had our evening meal at the George. Excellent food engaging staff and Generous portions. The only reason we didn't go back was because we always prefer to experience different venues when we are away. As a group of 8, we had different dishes from the menu. Hubby and I had the camanbert to share. Followed by each of the lamb dishes. Was a delight to see a proper lamb chop being served and not those silly lollipops ones that disappear with just one one. Lamb cooked to perfection and was absolutely delicious!!

There was no more space inside, so we were told to sit outside even though it was raining. Luckily, one of the staff members kindly offered us a table for a shorter time before the next reservations arrived, which I really appreciated. However, when I asked for a drink, I was told “we don’t have a menu, just tell me what you fancy,” which felt a bit unprofessional. I think it’s a lovely place with a lot of potential, but it’s a pity to see how the servers’ attitude seems to change depending on the clientele. You can clearly feel a certain difference in how people are treated, which affects the overall experience.

Very disappointed . Wouldn’t take my booking in advance and told to ring back on the day. Rang on the day and fully booked . Staff seem two sheets to the wind ! To be honest we just wanted to go for the quiz because we’ve been before for food and it wasn’t great. Portioned controlled and the lamb is that fatty it is inedible.

It also features two golf courses, including an 18-hole championship course and a 9-hole course, as well as an all-weather driving range.
Roosters on a Sunday……. We shared the starter breads with homemade garlic butter and an oil dip. I had the Salmon with the crushed potatoes in a beautiful creamy sauce with perfectly cooked stem broccoli. For my dessert I always have the same, as extremely full, so one, lovely scoop of their strawberry ice cream with a delicate wafer. The flavours of all of our food choices were out of this world and cooked to perfection! We love dining at Roosters. The service is friendly too. We recommend Morley Hayes.

Very professional, courteous people from the management to all staff. Nothing but good experiences here. Highly recommend all facilities for all purposes as we have experienced every operation here over the years. We recently used the hotel for some Italian guests who found it to be outstanding. The Roosters restaurant provides food worthy of any top class restaurant.

I enjoyed afternoon tea in the newly refurbished Dovecote Restaurant at Morley Hayes as part of a Marketing Derby event and it was probably one of the best afternoon teas I've ever had. The sandwiches were tasty (and interesting) and the cakes were amazing and imaginative. Highly recommended.

The View at The White Horse Woolley Moor is a charming country inn located in the picturesque hamlet of Woolley Moor, on the edge of Ashover and the Peak District National Park. The inn offers stunning scenery, a warm and friendly atmosphere, great food, and a well-stocked bar. Guests can enjoy modern luxury accommodation with separate suites featuring comfortable beds and secluded balconies offering panoramic views of the valley.
This is a lovely room, set in tranquil and beautiful setting. The family that owned it were lovely and did whatever they could for us. The log fire was fantasic to sit next to as we ate a meal that competed with the 5 star buxton crescent we were at the night before. Breakfast in the morning was equally as good, the chef made me poached, scrambled and fried eggs (my request) all perfect. We felt well looked after and valued as customers. The decor/atmosphere in the pub was the only thing I thought could be improved but nothing that will prevent us from coming back again!

Only stopped for a drink whilst walking, sun was out, nice views, scenery, bar was fine but sat outside in a nice courtyard. A bit of an upmarket wedding venue feel but did the job for a pint in the sun.

A beautiful and privately owned restaurant, bar and well equipped and spacious hotel bedrooms. The owners are highly experienced professionals. We had a first class meal with outstanding service. The location is excellent in terms of beautiful views. A lovely place to stay.

Stayed here for one night, it stood out as the rooms are separate suits with their own space and balcony. Room was very comfortable, nice firm bed. It’s a really peaceful location, all you hear is the birds. We ate in the restaurant at night, really nice food. We both had fish dishes and they were cooked to a very high standard. Breakfast again was very nice and a great end to the trip. Staff were really friendly throughout our stay, nothing felt too much trouble to ask.

Everything about The View is perfection! From the warm welcome to the luxurious accommodation. We ate at The White Horse which was superb and breakfast was served there too. The hosts own both the pub and the accomodation and were friendly and so efficient. Lots of lovely walks nearby or you can just sit on your patio and enjoy 'the view'.

What a fabulous hotel! The room/suite we had was absolutely beautiful - comfortable and spotlessly clean with an amazing view and private terrace. Everything looked brand new. The bathroom was amazing. The staff were polite and professional. The food was excellent with a great hearty breakfast. I can’t praise this place enough. Well worth the money.

We chose this hotel because of the views and we were not disappointed. Easy check in, at the pub, separate car park for the hotel guests. On arriving at the building that encompasses your rooms you notice the glass wall, which makes the corridor very warm, before entering your very large room. It is special. A large sitting area, with adjacent balcony which allows you to sit and drink up the special views. There is a sleeping area, with a double bed, could be bigger which would make the space truly special Large bathroom, with his and her sinks, nice touch. Very quiet and relaxing space and a brilliant place to relax. The pub at the top of the hill, a two minute walk provides dinner and breakfasts, both are very good. See review of the pub

The Heights of Abraham is a hilltop park in the UK, accessible by an Alpine cable car system that offers visitors an exciting aerial ride over the Derwent Valley. Once a lead-mining site, it has been transformed into a visitor center with wooded areas for leisurely strolls and stunning views.
This was an absolute brilliant day out. Started off riding the cable cars up to the top, beautiful scenery to look out. It all felt quite safe! The actual place at the top had plenty of things to see and do! From Wombles to the Caves it was great fun! We had a brilliant explorer for the caves- The Other Steve - he was so full of knowledge and enjoyed sharing it. Kept me interested all the way through and the light show at the end was a great surprise! Great day out and we all enjoyed it!

Had a fantastic day here. The staff were fantastic. The in character staff were amazing and so friendly and knowledgeable. Special shout goes to Mel who showed us round one of the caves. She was fantastic and a real credit to you. So funny and knowledgable. There’s lots to do up there. The cable car ride is great. 2 caves to tour and plenty of fun for the kids on the play grounds. The cafe was brilliant. Had a lovely panini in there and some lovely cake. We came on a weekday outside of the school holidays and didn’t have to wait for anything. Lots of walking to be done and some is rather steep.

We had an absolutely wonderful experience here today. It was our first time visiting and had no idea what to expect, but what a day we had. I’ve come to write a review because I want to give recognition to Lorin, the lovely guy that did our Cavern tour. He was so helpful, approachable, and even took the time out to stay back and show us some fossils in the final cavern, because my autistic son’s special interest is dinosaurs. He was brilliant with both of my children and made the tour really quite special. Give this man a raise immediately HoA! 🥲🤣

Great couple of hours at least spent with great views . The Cave experience is informative and interesting. The cafe is very good with great selection at reasonable prices. parking is in the station carpark payable . Blue badge holders can pay for time and get an hour ontop free. It is a short walk to the cable car ticket office. Just be aware that the last 150yard to Ticket office is steep.

EXCELLENT! This is an interesting way to spend the day on your holiday! Excellent, very well manned cable carts to take you to the hill/mountain? At the top, you’re instantly met with more helpful staff full of information on where to go and what you can do. There’s two caves, both equally interesting totally made by the excellent curation and delivery or stories by the guides (Jordan and Bessie were first class). There’s two excellent play areas suitable for most ages (above toddler I think). Fabulous cafe, where we had excellent service by Sue plus the views were spectacular! I was super impressed they had a variety of gluten free vegan cakes (that were not the usual boring brownies!). They also had two bars ( one is the oldest licensed bar in Matlock). There’s also a Wombles building, a couple of lovely gift shops, lots of information, a pizza van and more. The views are incredible. Overall, this is great value for money and something the children will not forget.

Excellent place for the kids day out. Lots things to do and see. Nice cafe and play ground. Stunning views during the cable car and from the top. Most amazing mining tunnels and the guide was excellent

Heights of Abraham is a fantastic family destination—perfect for both toddlers and older kids, with plenty of land to explore, play areas, and exhibits to keep everyone entertained. We especially enjoyed the Wombles exhibition—it was fun and whimsical, and offered something a bit different. The views from the hilltop are absolutely lovely, trampling over the Derwent Valley and surrounding countryside, making the cable car ride all the more magical. The food was okay, but nothing to write home about—not quite matching the beauty of the surroundings. I was also disappointed that they didn’t have a chai latte on the drinks menu, and vegan soft serve ice cream wasn’t available—both would have been great choices to round off a lovely day. Admission is on the steep side: adult tickets cost about £25 online or £28.50 at the gate . It felt quite expensive, especially for a shorter visit, but with a longer stay it might be more justifiable. Overall, it’s a beautiful and memorable place with a lot to offer families. With improvements to the food and drink options, it would be near-perfect!

Wonderful day out, perfect for dogs also, they are allowed everywhere but caverns and the Vista restaurant. Food a little pricey but picnic tables are everywhere for a packed lunch. The cable car stops half way up for stunning view pictures.

The Boot Inn, located in Repton, is a beautifully restored 17th-century coaching inn offering nine stylish and airy rooms and suites. The property features a traditional pub bar, a modern restaurant with 2 AA Rosettes, an onsite micro-brewery, and bakery. The establishment has received Beer and Stay Awards from the Good Pub Guide for its high-quality accommodations. With friendly staff and delicious food, it's a popular choice for fine dining or Sunday lunches.
My partner and I have just returned from our visit to The Boot in Repton. We were absolutely blown away by this place. We booked a superior room which included breakfast at a price point which is ridiculously cheap for what you receive! The room was spacious, very clean and incredibly equipped (high end toiletries, a proper kettle, coffee maker etc…). The bed was huge and very comfortable great nights sleep. The food was outstanding! We booked a table that evening and had the roast beef. The following morning we had a full English. Great quality produce cooked really well. The staff were fantastic. Especially Will who checked us in and was very hospitable (couldn’t do enough for us). We had a few drinks in the bar that evening and witnessed the great rapport he has with some of the locals/families which was great to see. The venue is situated centrally and close to St Wystan Church which is also the location of an old Saxon Abbey of which the old Saxon crypt can still be accessed via the church and is well worth a visit. The history buff in me cannot wait to return to explore more and I look forward to my next stay at The Boot.

The Boot is half walk to meet my mom, and we’ll 100% be back. Fabulous location just off the A38, and plenty of parking. The food was sublime and a wine list to generously accompany the dishes. A running theme with all my reviews is that I like a nice wine list and the Boot offers exactly that. The food was so fresh and full of flavour, beautifully presented. A real Gastro Pub that welcomes dogs which is important for us as a family of dog owners, who enjoy the finer things. Thank you to the wonderful Heidi who look after us, you made mom’s birthday experience thorough enjoyable. We’ll be back!

This place was nothing but lovely. it was a bit loud from the bar which you could hear throughout top. If I’m being completely honest I was there for business so not the greatest sleep but if there for leisure and your tipsy already it’s a 5-star. The staff are lovely and good portions are nice. Lots of drinking space to drink, and the rooms are really really nice.

Gorgeous pub, beautiful room and stunning food! Stayed overnight after a day in the Peaks - found the pub by chance and so glad I did. There is a lovely terrace that is a sun trap to enjoy drinks. Our room, a suite at the top of the building, was beautiful - a small sitting area, a lovely bed, gorgeous decor and air conditioned! We had dinner and breakfast whilst staying and the food, especially dinner was INCREDIBLE! it's all about the CRISPY NEW POTATOES! 🥰🎉 Lauren who looked after us during our stay and for both meals is amazing - super attentive, helpful and genuinely lovely. We cannot wait to return, even though it's hours away from home. Highly recommend a visit for a meal and a place to stay over.

A lovely and relaxing stay at the Boot Inn! We celebrated a 65th birthday and stayed the night. Staff are so friendly and welcoming, lovely beer garden with sun all day, and the food was amazing, so yummy and well presented! I had lovely refreshing soda and fresh limes all evening, but treated myself to a gorgeous cocktail that the staff recommended! Thanks for a truly special evening! 🤩🤩🤩

Outstanding meal here last night - such simple ingredients (such as cabbage and cauliflower) turned into seriously tasty dishes. Everyone in our party of four enjoyed the food that we were served. Service was also excellent - great attention to detail. We'll definitely be returning.

We visited the Boot Inn for a Sunday roast. The food was all very tasty and nicely presented but the portions of meat were all disappointingly small. For the prices charged, it did feel like profit margin was all important. Fortunately this wasn't the case with the desserts which were all delicious.

Water & Amusement Parks
Nestled in the picturesque hills near Matlock Bath, Gulliver's Kingdom is a delightful theme park designed specifically for families with children aged 2 to 13. This vibrant destination offers an array of over 60 rides and attractions that cater to young adventurers seeking excitement. From thrilling log flumes and roller coasters to engaging dinosaur trails, there's something for every little explorer. The park features dedicated zones like Toyland for toddlers and pirate-themed areas for older kids, ensuring everyone has a blast.
A brilliant family day out. Free parking is available and just a short wait for the gates to open. There is something to do for all ages here, visited with two children ages 12 and 15 and enjoyed by both. This park is great for those who don't like massive rollacoasters or queuing for hours to get on a ride. The queues were all short, or we were straight on. The climbing wall and the rope swing were the only two attractions that had a bigger queue or wait time. Various food and drink outlets dotted around. We chose to have a pizza, which was nicely done. Old classics like the log flume, river rapids, pirate ship and high wire seats were enjoyed by all. Photos for the log flume are reasonable prices, the pottery craft painting was only £5, and there is a gift shop at the exit to buy a keepsake or gift. Whether you've got a little one or older one there's definitely something for everyone. £65 family ticket offer for a family of 5 was great value for the amount of things to do. We would visit again.
Emi L — Google review
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4/5 A great place for kids and families to enjoy a day out. Most of the rides are short and mainly designed for children, but the overall atmosphere is fun. The roadside views on the way here are amazing, though the uphill journey makes pushing baby strollers a bit challenging. Best to arrive early to make the most of all the rides. A few extras, like having to pay £1 for a park map, didn’t feel like the best first impression. Still, overall, it’s a lovely family-friendly destination with plenty for kids to enjoy.
M A — Google review
We enjoyed it today. Positives - booked online and took advantage of a 'secret deal'. Perfect for younger kids. No rides really too extreme and we got on almost everything. The tree top drop ride and the lost world raft ride were both really good fun. Got on the log flume three times, which we loved. Most of the staff were pleasant enough. The ski lift team were really nice and made an effort to welcome you on. Parking was fine although via a very steep, windy drive up and with cars queing to get parked you could smell clutches burning everywhere 😂 but there was an entrance into the park near the top for those parking which was decent. Negatives - Not much really. We waited in line for my little girl to go on the rock climb wall, behind a small group of girls, and we were the very next in line (and the only ones left in the queue) and they shut it because they 'only run one or the other' The other being a little toddler activity course in the same spot. When we queued both were in action. They could have let her have a go, bit annoying. Some of the attractions are a bit of a let down, the ghost house for example, and the dragons lair are a few mins each that you won't get back. Pointless walkarounds with nothing in them. Those aside, overall a decent day out and fairly priced, and I'm sure we'll probably go back before she gets too big for most of the rides. Point to note: if your not good at walking up and down steep hills, this place isn't for you. It's literally built on a hillside. You have the ski lifts which will take you up and down but expect a fair wait for one. For us, we did both and were fine with the gradients.

Great for the kids and the landscape is beautiful. The guys and gals working there were all polite and ready to help in anyway they can. Just a little mention to disabled people come fully prepared as it really is hard graft getting around because of the steep landscape.
Smileyanz — Google review
Great day out for the younger kids, we really enjoyed the rides. The wait times weren't as bad as the bigger parks. Food wasn't overly priced and good portions. The hills there could be an issue for those with mobility issues or walking with bulky buggies/prams.
Neil H — Google review
We had such an amazing time here, I was really impressed! We arrived at 12 and it closed at 5 and that was just enough time! We got on everything quickly and managed to do my daughter's favourite rides quite a few times! It's set amongst beautiful scenery, my 4 year old could go on nearly everything, and the car park is free!
Sarah H — Google review
Much better place than I thought. Adults can have fun with the kids too. Kids absolutely loved it. Area is beautiful too. Parking wise you need to get there early to find place at the bottom. I think it is better to start your journey in Gulliver's Kingdom from the bottom entry.
Dalma D — Google review
Lovely place for kids, from rides, activities, climbing ropes and lift chairs. Children loved it. Smaller rides for them to enjoy. The only set back was the height levels of rides. It was very steep going to different rides. I did see dome parents with pushchairs struggling. Not suitable for wheelchair, in my opjnion

We initially considered giving a 3 out of 5, as five or six menu items were unavailable when we arrived — not the best first impression. However, the experience quickly turned around and absolutely deserves a 5 out of 5. The food was exceptional, and we’d like to send our compliments to the chef. Service throughout the evening was also of an impressively high standard. We started with the calamari and pork belly bites — both were outstanding. For mains, we had the sirloin steak and chicken burger, and again, the quality was excellent. The desserts were also a real highlight — truly to die for. One small detail I particularly appreciated was the vinegar served in a decanter-style bottle — a simple touch, but it really added to the experience. Highly recommended, and we’ll definitely be back to The Devonshire Arms in Baslow

We stayed at the Devonshire for 2 nights in mid-August for our wedding weekend (we didn’t actually get married there). The staff were amazing- Rachel and Lisa especially- so welcoming, friendly and helpful from booking to the weekend. We ordered a buffet for our family for the Friday night and the food was superb! We also booked one of their rooms to use for some preparation the day before we got married, and they were so accommodating for our needs. The hotel rooms were lovely: spotless, luxurious and cosy. Thank you so much for making our stay at the Devonshire fabulous.

absolute tomfoolery, waited by the bar for 10 minutes, was very quiet when my partner and I arrived, we were dismissed 3 times, once by a man behind the bar and twice by the same woman, the women served a couple who arrived after us and then attempted to serve another lady who was kind enough to redirect her to us, she seemed very reluctant to serve us, complete lack of service skills, or better yet social skills as a whole, only pleasant person was the lady sat at the desk by the entrance.

Not great . Took the family here for a Sunday dinner. Booked in for 6.30 pm . Arrived early and shown to a table quickly which was great but sadly our experiance went downhill from there . I needed the gents which I am sad to say one of the urinals were blocked and therefore had puddles on the floor. Not good. On being seated were then told they had ran out of 2 items off the menu and being a small menu this made the choice less. This was made worse when we were about to order that 2 more items were now also not available. Being a food establishment having food to sell to your guests is how you make your money is it not? So we ordered good old fish and chips as most of the carvery was now sold out and burgers are not my ideal . After the meal we were offered deserts and then told no coffees except instant as the machine had broken! I then ordered a mohito, 15 mins later it had not arrived only to be told they had run out of mint ! We then proceeded to the bar and yep. I wanted a Madri and you got it .. ran out of that also . All in all a poor experience

We had the celebration menu, 5 courses, £40 a head. Great value for money, the food and presentation were excellent. The waitress (Emily?) was very pleasant and attentive. All in all a lovely evening for a special occasion. Forgot to mention the cocktails🍹which were expertly done😀

Really good freshly prepared pub food in the bar. Our fish finger sandwich & chips came pretty quickly & we're pretty good. The bar team were warm & welcoming. We had zero complaints, ....... even when they tried to deliver someone else's order to our table, ...... ......but we felt sooooo sorry for one of the guys at the neighbouring tables who had to watch his friends eat their meals & order dessert because his steak hadn't cooked right and needed to be redone. He had to ask 3 times where it was before an offer was made to refund his meal.....before it turned up. Meantime we'd finished our food & decided not to chance dessert. A triumph of inexperience that I'm sure will improve. We might hold off a return visit to allow that to happen.

Nestled just outside of Sheffield in the South Yorkshire countryside, Whitley Hall Hotel is a refined 16th-century Tudor mansion surrounded by 20 acres of gardens and woodland. Legend has it that Mary Queen of Scots once stayed here during her time in captivity at Sheffield Castle. The hotel offers plush rooms and suites with lake views, modern amenities including a fitness center, restaurant, and bar. It's an ideal escape from the city with its picturesque beauty and elegant setting for any occasion.
Went for “Let’s Do Lunch” to celebrate my mums 81st birthday. Everything was absolutely perfect. The service was perfect, professional and well-paced. The food was exquisite. Smoked haddock and Gruyère soufflé with creamed leeks was perhaps the best thing I have ever tasted. As mazing value in an amazing setting.

Lovely food for reasonable prices. Service was mainly good , but the waitress got proper mardy when we explained we'd like the bill splitting into two different amounts. It was obviously way too much trouble, and we overheard her moaning to another member of staff about it. So we sorted it ourselves, and they lost their tip! But the food was lovely and it's a really lovely building, full of character.

Came here for my husband's birthday recently, having not been for a long time, and it was just as good as we remembered. The Let's Do Lunch menu is such good value for food of this quality. Had my wedding here Easter weekend, had family drive from wales/Cornwall and all everyone kept asking is how an earth I found this venue because it is stunning! Wedding ran smoothly, everyone commented on how nice the food was! Myself and my mum stayed the night before, food was excellent, rather pricey for drinks as other reviews state BUT please take into consideration of the surrounding and place you are in, your not down at your local corner pub. All my guests who stayed was happy with their rooms and how comfy the beds were, staff we met are all lovely and do their upmost to please. So pleased we chose here to get married! The Parker suite and lake is absolutely beautiful! Wish we could do it all again

Stayed at Whitley Hall Hotel in August 2025 for 2 nights due to a family wedding. The main positive for the hotel is it's lovely location with a nice courtyard and garden at the rear which was very relaxing. Inside the hotel some areas are in need of renovating especially the room we stayed in. It was not up to the standard expected of a 4 star hotel. I have stayed in far nicer and much cleaner Premier Inn rooms. The bathroom was very poor. Bed very comfy however. The service was at best average. Staff at the wedding were good but during the rest of our stay there was little sign of staff. Breakfast on the second morning was farcical and in one staff members case they were surly verging on being rude. The wedding day itself was great and food was excellent. Shame about the rest.

Had a one night stay. The reception staff were very nice. The outside of the hall was lovely, with some great views. However the inside of the hall needs alot of attention , in our room the walls were pealing and the coving could have done with a touch up, and the bathroom door was in need of a repaint. The mattress was very comfy, and also the bedding. In fact my partner has bought the same mattress from amazon which is arriving tomorrow., but doesn’t warrant the £122 a night charge. The bar area was cosy but the menu was very limited. The hall itself has a lot of potential but I would say the reason for the shabby interior is down to funds which is a shame

We had our wedding at Whitley Hall recently and they were absolutely amazing. We had a brilliant day which was made possible by the attentive care of all the team. Nothing was too much trouble. The food was delicious, the rooms for the ceremony and party were exceptional and the rooms that I and our guests stayed in were perfect. All in all, an amazing venue and a great team.

Nestled in the serene Derbyshire countryside, The Little Mill @ Rowarth is a charming traditional country pub that exudes character and warmth. Housed in an 18th-century mill, it features a delightful riverside terrace and a cozy beer garden where guests can unwind by a real fire. The talented chefs take pride in crafting homemade British cuisine using fresh, seasonal ingredients sourced from local farms.
Absolutely beautiful place! We stayed in the deluxe family room with our 4 month old which was really big with two bedrooms open to each other joined by steps with a king bed and double bed. You can reach the bedroom via the path outside which is good for a pram, or via the stairs through the pub. The owner and all staff are extremely friendly and chatty. We stayed for one night and had breakfast which was a lovely cooked breakfast with a good choice, and they also had cereal and yoghurt options with fresh juices, The bar is welcoming and had a good selection of drinks, also had their lovely little dogs walking round too. It’s very popular and busy, we stayed in October so I can imagine it’s very popular in the summer. The kids playground was good too with the animals in it and two lovely goats. We’d highly recommend this pub either for food or to stay too, and we’d love to return.

Just visited the Little Mill and had to rave about it! The food was delicious, we tried the fish and chips(heaven!) Service was great! Amazing atmosphere!Shoutout to both waiters on duty on the 16th OCT. they were both super attentive and made the whole visit a pleasure! Thank you both!! The location is amazing and would like to return in the summer as the outdoor seating looks amazing!! Total gem!! 5/5 Go now!

A rustic country pub / restaurant, tucked away in the beautiful hillsides of Rowarth. It has what remains of its old water wheel and a huge play area with animals. We've recently been several times in winter, there's a roaring fire, there own bitter (which is exceptional) and the food is fantastic. The service here is always superb, everybody is given a warm welcome. This place has been going since I was a kid, with all these attributes, no wonder it stood the test of time and thrives to this day.

A hidden beauty in the heart of Derbyshire. We went on a last minute early evening booking & boy we were lucky to get in. Whilst there the place pretty much filled up with diners like ourselves. The food was outstanding & so was the service. I've not been for many years as I've been busy being whisked off to many different places by my fiancé. This day I suggested we go here & we loved it. We can't wait to go back to try other items on their delicious menu.

We stayed at the Little Mill for a night the other day while we're having a mini break in the Peak District, with my wife and son . The room was superb and the beds were the biggest we have ever slept in.!! The breakfast was lovely and cooked to perfection and I only wished that we were staying longer!! The pub is in a beautiful setting and with plenty of outdoor seating and a lovely little spot next to the water wheel, I can only imagine just how lovely it would be on a summer's evening 💕. I have no hesitation in recommending the little Mill for a perfect place to spend some time and if you like it as much as I did, you will definitely want to revisit again!!!👍

Ill start with the positive bits....amazing location for a walk and a brilliant play area for the kids, and the service was also very good. The food however was absolutely shocking. £20 for one of the worst roast dinners I've ever had the misfortune to eat. Yorkshire pudding was burned, beef was over cooked and tough, potatoes were tough and chewy and the veg was bitter and dry. What baffles me is so many people seemed happy to eat and pay for this extremely average (at best) fair ! Every table was reserved for the majority of the day. It's a shame as it could be a brilliant pub in a brilliant spot.

To be honest, we didn't get to the Inn. My husband got very ill on our road trip and we had to chance our plans. But despite of cancelling within the no refund period, we only were charged the first night and Neil gave is a refund for the rest of our reservation. Thank you so much! We hope to be able to visit you in the future. Albert and Monique

Beautiful location and facilities for children. Service is friendly but unfortunately the waiting time for our meals and the quality was not as good as on previous visits. As a dog owner all my life, I prefer to leave my pet in the car or at home when possible. However I appreciate that other people want to have their pet with them. This is fine but I feel strongly that there should be a separate area. Some customers will dislike dogs or even be scared or allergic. My meal was spoiled by having a couple on the next table kissing and cuddling their dog, feeding it from their plates and letting it sit on the upholstery. It was a wet day so this meant that the bench seat would be dirty for the next customer. Please, Little Mill, adjust your policy on dogs so that it doesn't spoil the enjoyment of other people. There was a perfectly well behaved collie at another table, on the floor where dogs belong.

The Lamb Inn is a charming country pub located in the picturesque Peak District National Park. This 18th-century coaching inn offers three luxurious en-suite bedrooms and is surrounded by ample walking opportunities, including hikes up Kinder Scout and treks over to Edale. The inn features various dining areas with traditional decor, including beams, wood burners, stone floors, and a warm atmosphere. Additionally, there's an oak-paneled private dining room for up to eight people.
As always, never fails to deliver. Staff A1 - always attentive and go the extra mile. Food A1 - it was stunning as always. We actually said we have never had a bad experience here. Celebrated my mother’s 80th in style in the private room at the back. Thank you ALL for making it so memorable. We’ll be back.

Had wonderful meal at The Lamb last night. Never been here before, although my husband is originally from Marple. I had the Duo of pork with Rigatoni and pulled pork. Absolutely gorgeous! Husband had the pork steak and loved his, too. We sat outside on a gorgeous evening. The only downside was the traffic noise, but nothing could be done about that! Would highly recommend The Lamb. 😊

Fantastic pub and restaurant… highly recommend, great to just pop in for a drink or quick meal.. but it has the character and ambience to make a dinner date very special I visit often and travel over from Sheffield, food and service first class

First visit here for many years, it was mid week so reasonably quiet but still a good atmosphere. No starters for our group but lambs liver for main which was OK but lacking on much veg. Sweets were ok but would have enjoyed some proper baked puds like fruit pies / crumbles which seem to be in short supply these days, maybe it's because I'm old with traditional tastes. Overall ok but no better.

Been this evening for a meal. Ended up having 3 courses! From start to finish everything was top notch. The lamb is beautiful as is the jus and the cheesecake. Yeah everything was banging. And they even sell Japanese lager on tap! 🍺 thanks guys!

The Devonshire Arms at Pilsley is a charming stone-built pub located on the Chatsworth estate. The Duchess of Devonshire has personally decorated this dog-friendly establishment, which offers simple rooms with complimentary breakfast. The pub serves local ales and produce, much of which comes directly from the estate itself. Situated within walking distance of the farm shop, it's an ideal base for exploring the 1000-acre estate and the surrounding Peak District trails.
Had lunch here and was very good. Probably the best ploughman's I've had. Homemade bread and sausage rolls. Lovely lean ham and local cheeses. Had a homemade apple and cinnamon crumble with vanilla custard for dessert and was also really good and a large portion. My friend had a homemade steak pie with mash and she said was very good. Prices were good from the Light Bites menu. There was another comprehensive menu of mains at higher prices.

The Pilsley Inn! Wow! A stunning pub well worth a visit if you’re visiting the area. We booked a Saturday evening meal. The service was brilliant. The manager was warm, jolly and welcoming on arrival and the staff were attentive and friendly. The atmosphere is classic country pub. Clean, rustic charm yet modern. Dining! The food was delicious. (See photos) we recommend highly!

Walkers and drinkers not welcome. Called in for a drink after a long walk. The place was really quiet. Asked if it was OK to just have a drink. Waitress said yes fine, sit anywhere in the bar area. Ordered drinks and sat down. Immediately a lady came over and said you will have to move in 30 minutes. She then came back and said to the barman pointing to us " them 2 have to leave in 30 minutes. Didn't want to stay anyway as the Chatsworth Gold was sour and the Landlord was not in perfect condition. The thing is only one couple came in after us and they stopped serving food around 30 minutes after we left. No way was it going to get full. They are lucky they can manage without walkers and "drinkers" as most pubs in the area are struggling and welcome us with open arms.

Part of the Chatsworth portfolio, so... high expectations and it certainly did not disappoint. Overnight stay with my furball for his birthday because it's very dog friendly. He got his own bed, treats, towel, bowl and tennis ball. I got a four poster bed and some fabulous toiletries to sample, a nespresso machine and lovely shortbread biscuits. I can't fault the room at all. Given it was a very hot day all the blinds had been closed and windows opened to keep the room cool, nice touch knowing I had my dog with me. Things like this go a long way with me. Dinner was included and my dog was able to sit with me. Food was fabulous and the service was friendly and efficient. I got a great nights sleep. The bed was extremely comfortable as were the pillows. Breakfast was equally as good as dinner and the service was equally as pleasant and efficient. The toiletries were available to buy from Reception which was very convenient. I was very impressed with the whole experience.... just as I was expecting to be fair. Chatsworth never fails and this little gem was a credit to the brand. I'm going to be making this a yearly "birthday" treat for my furball!

We went few weeks ago on a Sunday afternoon. We’re given a seat in a room next to the kitchen. The amount of flies flying around us was disgusting. It was really hot inside as well. I felt not amazed by the interior and just the basic atmosphere. The food…. Was alright. I don’t think it’s worth the price which you are paying for. I am guessing they are adding few quid on top because of the location. I’ve had beef roast which was okay. I wasn’t impressed. We needed to return my fiancé meal cause of some items on a plate being rock solid- raw. Mainly veggies. We’ve waited over 30 minutes for the food which was even more surprising that some of the items were not cooked properly, even after all this time. Overall, we are not going to be back in the next years, that’s for sure. It’s expensive for what you are getting. And the quality of food is not great.

Others might say ‘Bait & Scam’! Booked online to a ‘dog friendly pub for Sunday lunch. Website states ‘dog friendly’ but when booking a table there’s no option to state your most beloved friend is joining you (odd). On arriving, “sorry our dog friendly area is full”. So we had our Sunday lunch in horrible room akin to a prison cell - except equipped a fire escape ! Food - Chatsworth lamb - medioca!

We could not have been happier with choosing The Three Horseshoes as our wedding venue. The venue is absolutely beautiful and set in such a lovely area! The value for money was outstanding, the food was incredible, the rooms are so spacious and comfortable. The staff were absolutely amazing! Wedding 30.08.2025 Can’t thank you enough for the most amazing day! Lovely staff and amazing service, the whole day ran perfectly. Booked in July 2025, giving us 6weeks to plan, the Communication was great. On the day the staff went above and beyond to make sure everything was how we wanted. Ourselves and All our guest have each said how great the food was in the day and the buffet in the evening, more than enough to go around, nobody went hungry. Would highly recommend! Can’t wait to come back on new year Eve to celebrate and enjoy a fabulous spa break!!!

I’ve come to the twilight spa on numerous occasions, and every time it’s a wonderful experience. The mill spa is small but full of character. The staff are friendly and helpful, it’s clean and the lemon meringue cocktail is delightful! It’s my favourite one anywhere! They never book in too many guests so you can happily move about and use everything easily. And the two course lunch is superb! Highly recommend the pie! It’s absolutely worth its money and I plan on returning very soon!

Worst spa I have ever been to and will probably ever go to! Overnight stay with hot tub is an absolute waste of £400. The Spa has what is basically two small Saunas and a plunge pool. The ‘warm tub’ not an hot tub at all outside is useless, I’ve had warmer baths. It is not covered either in case the weather is bad. It wasn’t made clear about the spa booking times. We had the overnight stay and were booked in the spa the next day. We couldn’t use the spa when we arrived. We got told there is a hot tub with our room. This hot tub is better but again it is not covered at all in case the weather is bad. We then had to check out at 11:00 the next day. When we asked about the spa and what we were meant to do for nearly three hours (we checked out before 11:00 because we had breakfast and were ready). We got told that we might have gone on a walk or something like that. 50mph winds and raining… no offer for early access to the spa, late checkout or even a very small gesture. I wouldn’t even return just to go to the restaurant (which was actually nice) because I am that disappointed. Awful setup. Awful booking. Awful service. Wouldn’t mind as much if you could say that it is a small spa out the way but it still charges big spa prices!!! Would not recommend to anyone! Go anywhere else, please. The spa section in my gym is better than here.

Myself and my partner had a lovely weekend and well needed break. With use of the spa on 1 day, 2 nights 3 course dinner as well as breakfast. The meals on both nights were great! We couldn’t be happier with Deborah on the front desk who went above and beyond and really made our stay. The garden room with private hot tub was heated ready for us and the bed was incredibly comfortable and we had very peaceful night sleep! The staff were all friendly and accommodating throughout our stay. We also used the opportunity being in the area to go to Alton Towers which was only a scenic 25 minute drive away!

Popped in for a drink while friend was charging car. Friendly and welcoming atmosphere. Lovely blend of traditional and modern. Most importantly, wine reasonably priced! Recommend and will pop in again.
Carla G — Google review
Four of us went last night(18/8) for my daughter's birthday. We were very disappointed. We ordered a bottle of wine which was just plonked on the table and we were just left to open it ourselves. Fair enough we thought. The waiter asked if we would like water we said yes please but we had to ask a further three times before we actually got it. The carvery was disappointing. The roast potatoes tasted stale as if they had been standing for a long time and the vegetables were nearly gone and needed replenishing and were tepid. When we asked for the bill we had to wait at least 20 minutes before we could actually pay it and had to go to the waiters station in the end to pay. All in all a disappointing experience. I wouldn't say they were over busy so there wasn't really any excuse. It was a shame because it had come highly recommended

This charming old-fashioned hotel is located in the heart of the Peak District, opposite Buxtons striking Opera House. The rooms are richly decorated with antique furniture and features original 1573 artwork. There's also an elegant restaurant, atmospheric bar, and romantic courtyard. The hotel offers a full English breakfast buffet style, as well as yogurt and fruit in a large dining room.
I have only eaten at the old Hall, I haven’t stayed there, but I have to praise the food! Such good quality, generous portions, a really good choice. A daily special,s board is there every day. Good quality traditional menu. but made with skill. Lovely hot freshly prepared food, I strongly suggest it is the best food in Buxton.

Sadly Disappointed. Alistair dealt with well. Very theatrical! Alternative room spacious. Lovely double aspect. Massive bed. Small bathroom. Minimal tea tray, toiletries. Staff really lovely, service fabulous. Attentive. Helpful. Breakfast first day poor both hardly ate. Second day better breakfast alone. Evening meals delicious, beautiful dining room. Lovely relaxed lounge. Perfect location in centre. Beautiful surroundings. Will return

My daughter and I spent a wonderful day here at the Buxton Crescent spa for my birthday. It was a great experience. The staff were brilliant and made us feel very welcome. The pools and saunas were lovely and everywhere was spotlessly clean. The lunch we had was delicious. We both had the Indian head massage treatments. Very relaxing and very chilled afterwards. Would definitely do this again.

We plumped for a four-poster room that was spacious, decently appointed, but somewhat tired, with the bathroom in particular not seeming to have been cleaned with any real effort or conviction since the long-haired brunette who had clearly stayed before us. On the plus side, the large double bed was remarkably comfortable. The first experience was with a rather curt and disinterested bearded gentleman on reception, but redeemingly his reception colleagues elsewhere during our stay were polite and cheerful. The bar was cosy and welcoming albeit a tad expensive, with the late-night bar girl pleasant and chatty. Breakfast was a self-service affair, although the food was hot, fresh and tasty. The breakfast waiter was remarkably, politely and pleasingly exuberant.

Parking outside and a three minute walk to the theatre. We will definitely be back.

Fantastic experience at a hidden gem. Went there with family for a Sunday roast with all the trimmings. We were given a huge plate of freshly carved roast beef, which was all home made (even the horseradish), followed by a scrumptious Eton Mess, all for an incredibly good price. Restaurant is in a great location as you can see the gardens outside. Beautiful, old world setting. Service was great too. The manager - who wore a Scottish kilt to honour the hotel's history - couldn't have been more helpful.

This 16th century hotel is now inevitably getting a little tired with crumbling ceilings and broken window panes, however despite this it holds loads of charm with stories of famous old visitors and ancient furniture dotted around. Our Sunday roast meal was very nice and the staff are warm and friendly. Nicely situated next to the Pavilion Gardens and Opera House!

Sitting at the door of Win Hill, the Yorkshire Bridge Inn is a fantastic location. The bar area is traditional in layout with a variety of hand pull ales, lagers and other drinks to choose from. The food is typical pub fare but done well and all the staff are friendly. The rooms are clean and comfortable, exactly what you want after a day out on the hills. Some nice touches like free chilled water bottles and a little thermos of fresh milk for the room really make your stay comfortable. A choice of breakfast is included in the room rates and the pub is dog friendly.

The White Hart Inn is a charming brick-and-stone pub located in the beautiful Derbyshire countryside, just over 10 minutes from the M1. The inn offers 10 unique and stylish rooms with modern amenities, free breakfast, and a lovely flagstone terrace. The original character of the building has been preserved with reclaimed brick and stone walls, oak beams, and cozy open log-fires. Guests can enjoy homemade food at the characterful bar and restaurant which serves rustic dishes and pub classics.
Situated off the beaten track near Alfreton is the a wonderful Inn - the White Hart. This is the second time we have stayed but the first for dinner. Breakfast is always included which just makes things simple. Ample parking and outside seating completes the perfect setting. From the pub and restaurant to the bedrooms, the inn has a simple style with ‘real’ wood furniture that is so hefty but adds a true feel of the country and luxury. Rooms are spacious and comfortable and there is always a lovely view. The pub and restaurant are also well presented and welcoming. Our servers at dinner Nathan and Summer were a credit. Food was excellent, well priced and generous. Good home cooked and homemade food. Breakfasts are also generous and again made with quality ingredient’s. My only comment is that it would be nice to have a cappuccino as an alternative to the filter coffee. All in all another lovely stay hopefully to be repeated in the not too distant future.

I got maried here so love the place, although it was extremely quiet, especially on Sunday, so figured I should leave some honest feedback in hope changes can be made to vring it back to life :) * We really missed the Jacuzzi bath in the Hart Suite, was a nice luxury selling point. Bring it back if you can. * A little constant bug bear of mine is how tight the tables are in the bar/restaurant. As a 6ft larger man, it is pretty uncomfortable, I get its not an easy change, but ideally you need another few inches on the length of the table to allow a little more free movement. * Re-open access from the rooms to the bar internally, on a rainy day, it's not pleasant to get a cold shower before your breakfast :) * Remind staff to discuss menu options for the food, i completely forgot to ask for chips with my pie and got mashed potatoe (it was still nice) lol * Seasoning provided on the tables - i like easy access to seasoning and although my food was nice, a little extra salt and pepper would have been great. (Not something I wanted to ask for mid meal) * While waiting for our wedding day we had a nice discount card.. a nice little touch. Why not introduce some post marriage discount offers, to encourage the many people who were wed there to keep returning, maybe with their families. I'd honestly welcome some monthly offers from you. * Nice touches - dressing gown and slippers provided, Room Snacks and drinks, comfy bed, quality food, amazing views! All in all though, its a great place, and was a little sad to see it so quiet on a Sunday.. Hopefully things pick up so you can return to opening on a Sunday evening for dinner service which is when we usually eat out :)

We had a bottomless brunch for 3 of us. We were very impressed with the quality of the food. The bread at the start was a nice touch. The limencollo sangria was lovely and all the cocktails were made with care. Considering it was quiet, the service could have been quicker when it came to the drink making. I've already booked again for August with mum! :)

We enjoyed a 2 night stay. Its a lovely location, plenty of parking, and a great place to eat and drink on site. The beds and pillows were a little lumpy, but the showers were great. Breakfast was good, especially the hot cooked food

A huge thank you to the white hart inn for making our wedding day everything we dreamed of and more! The venue looked absolutely beautiful, and Katy went above and beyond to make sure everything ran perfectly. From the moment we arrived to the last dance of the night, everything was seamless and stress-free. We’re so grateful for your hard work in making our day truly unforgettable ❤️

Always a great place for a wedding. The food really is exceptional. I shot another recently and had a wonderful family day. Ait conditioned rooms are a major added bonus for bridal prep and to take the edge off during your ceremony.

Booked this 2 night stay for our 52nd wedding anniversary and very dissapointed. Room was big and spacious but lacked the personal touch, very basic --2 chairs to sit on but no small table to put cups on had to use dressing table stool, only 2 sachets of coffee had to ask for more.Dressing table had tea tray on so when using hair dryer, hair straighteners and hair spray had to move tray onto bed so hairs ect didn't go onto cups so very bad planning.Couldn't turn side table lights up full to read as bulbs kept flickering.Bed pillows although clean where very thin and grey looking.Breakfast was atrocious only streaky bacon, watery tasteless beans and potato rosstie to hard to eat,no brown or white toast just sourdough toast, only blackcurrant jam--no other choice and no choice of cereal except oats, granola or coco pops--no croissants,no choice of flavoured teas.We didn't eat there in the eveningsas if you can't get breakfast right we wasn't preparedto chance to take a chance on evening meals so went out.Outside dirty glasses left on tables overnight and still there the following evening, ashtrays look as though they haven't been emptied or washed for months and empty can left in boarders. We was looking forward to our 52nd anniversary,no little luxuries it was just like staying in a travel lodge. If you want a bit of luxury this is not the one to book.

A lovely hotel, our room was beautiful. Large, clean and spacious. The breakfast was really tasty too. The only issue was the wasps, but the price you pay for staying in the countryside.

The Ashford Arms is a charming riverside inn with a history spanning over 200 years. Nestled in the picturesque village of Ashford in the Waters, this 17th-century country pub has been lovingly restored to offer a cozy and inviting atmosphere. The gastropub dining experience features menus crafted by talented chefs using locally sourced ingredients alongside international flavors. Guests can enjoy theme nights, relax in the beer garden, and stay in comfortable B&B accommodations.
We had an early dinner with a baby and a toddler. The staff were extremely helpful and accommodating (which sadly isn't the case everywhere you eat out with young children). The food was delicious. So delicious that I didn't manage to take a photo before diving in. Lovely setting and atmosphere too. We will be back.

We visited this restaurant over Father’s Day weekend during a very busy time. The setting was lovely, and the food itself was really good, no issues there at all. We brought our one year old daughter who has severe allergies to both eggs and dairy. We made this very clear to the waitress when ordering, and repeated it to ensure it was understood. However, when the food arrived, my wife noticed something on our daughter’s plate that appeared to have been prepared with egg. She raised the concern with the person who brought the food, who was unaware of our child’s allergies. When they checked with the kitchen, it turned out the allergy had not been communicated properly. If my wife hadn’t questioned it, the result could have been a trip to the hospital. What concerned me most wasn’t just the mistake, but the response. The person delivering the food seemed more focused on quickly replacing the dish than actually listening to our concerns about the lack of allergy procedures. For a child with a severe allergy, that kind of oversight and response is unacceptable. The restaurant did apologize and removed our daughter’s meal from the bill, which we appreciated. But given how serious this could have been, I don’t know if we’d feel comfortable returning.

Stayed overnight Sunday with friends. Location excellent, parking easy and takes very little time to register your vehicle on the clearly displayed screen on front desk. Our room was a but small but well appointed. Some noise from kitchen fans, but not obtrusive if you close the window. The staff were all excellent, but special mention for Jemima on front desk and Jacob in the restaurant. Great menu choices and our food was very well presented and tasty. Would definitely stay again.

We really wanted to give this place a 5 star review but a couple of things let it down. Firstly, we love the location, Ashford on the Water is a beautiful setting in the Peaks near enough to the Monsal Trail to walk there, which was the purpose of our stay. 2 nights booked, Thursday & Friday night, pricey but you get what you pay for. Staff are amazing, cannot fault them, friendly, cheerful and welcoming, from the front desk to restaurant and housekeeping, all lovely. Our room - Dale End - looked wonderful when we arrived, beautiful decor, spotlessly clean everywhere, gorgeous linen and a lovely view. We realised we were situated above the kitchen as we could hear them below preparing for the evening meals. This was not a real problem just a niggle. When it came to sleeping later on, the kitchen was now quiet but unfortunately the refrigeration unit below the window kept my husband awake all night as he is a much lighter sleeper than I am. The only other issue was the mattress on the bed was extremely hard which also did not suit my husband’s back. He consequently had a dreadful night and was not looking forward to staying for the 2nd night. With a very long trek on the trail and ear plugs, he did manage a few hours on Friday night. Maybe a different room might have been better but overall the hotel is lovely.

We had a fabulous vegan / plant based supper here in September 2025. Multiple menu options. We had a lovely spinach hummus and the Vegan shared platter was very good indeed. They make their own sweet potato black bean burger which was tasty. Our server was pleasant and we enjoyed the atmosphere as well. Note that the supper menu starts being served at 5:00 pm.

Fantastic menu, we had a lovely Sunday lunch catching up with friends for my husband's birthday. The kids menu was brilliant and the waiting staff brought the kids food out first which is always appreciated, it would be lovely to see an option for a kids Sunday lunch, which there wasn't, but have to say one of the best places to eat around here for the whole family. The staff were very attentive and impressive the waiter took a table order for 9 with drinks without writing a thing down and not a single thing forgotten or wrong, food was excellent and the atmosphere was lovely. We will be back!

Lovely place for Sunday lunch and if you're a meat eater/vegetarian you will be very happy. However we were really disappointed with her plant-based Sunday roast option - same price as veggie option but with nothing to replace Yorkshire pudding and cauliflower cheese. We felt like we were being punished and still hungry after main.

We've just returned from our second stay at the Ashford Arms. Having visited the previous incarnation of the Ashford Arms many years ago, we really enjoyed the new vibe, both indoors and out, delicious food, and comfortable and well equipped guest bedrooms. Most of all, we found the staff to be friendly and attentive. Thank you. A lovely inn in a lovely part of the Peak District. We look forward to coming back again soon.

Nestled in the charming village of Ticknall, The Staff of Life is a delightful country inn that perfectly blends comfort and character. This inviting establishment not only offers a selection of real ales and delicious home-cooked meals but also features eight elegantly designed en-suite guest rooms. Five are situated within the main building, while three have been beautifully transformed from former cow sheds by owners Christopher Nix and Kaye, showcasing her keen eye for interior design.
There is something really special about this place and despite my brief stay, everything about it is just incredibly comforting. Set in a beautiful rural location, the Inn is cosy and welcoming with a lovely selection of food. The rooms are kept to a high standard, impeccably clean and spacious. The staff are friendly and attentive, all in all just a fantastic hotel .

October 2025 We stated here with friends to enjoy the nearby Calke Abbey and some local walks. Stumbled across the place when looking for a place to stay near Calke Abbey. Comfortable rooms and beds, plenty of hot water, excellent breakfasts and hospitality. Jane even sorted taxis out for us to visit friends in a nearby village. Nothing was too much trouble. Highly recommend for a traditional pub welcome.

We stopped by for dinner when driving from derby. The pub looked pretty and had nice a garden. The restaurant was quiet and we easily got a table. The menu was typical pub food. I had a steak which was well prepared and my wife had fish and chips we were disappointed that the fish was bought in a not freshly battered but overall it was a reasonable pub meal.

Was looking around for somewhere to go for a meal, and remembered seeing the Staff of Life featured in the Derby Telegraph a while back. I sent a request for a table late on Thursday evening and received a response at about 7am the next day confirming my reservation. Upon arrival we were greeted by the lady behind the bar who gave us a pick of the reserved tables. The lady came and took our drinks order and returned with the menus. We opted for the halloumi sticks to start, following by the Steak Pie. The halloumi were big, crunchy and very tasty. A bigger pot of sauce was needed to dip them in but no major issue. Then came the Steak Pie with hand cut chips. Going to throw it out there, the best steak pie I’ve ever had - the meat was tender and the dish was packed full, with a small shortcrust on top (I do prefer the full pie type normally but again I won’t hold it against the pub ☺️). I normally have room for dessert but the pie was so filling I decided against it. The accompaniment of a gravy jug was a nice touch, it was a thick consistency too. The waiter (a young lad) was attentive, polite and checked we had everything we required without being overbearing. It was quiet for a Friday evening (630pm) with a few people and some dogs arriving later. Overall a thoroughly pleasant dining experience. Will definitely be back.

The Rutland Arms Hotel, a Georgian landmark building in the charming market town of Bakewell, offers a delightful blend of history and luxury. The 19th-century coaching inn provides bright and smart rooms, some located in the main building and others in the courtyard, all recently refurbished for utmost comfort. Its upscale dining options and conference facilities make it an ideal choice for both leisure and business travelers.
We had an absolutely wonderful stay at The Rutland Arms in Bakewell. The location is perfect right in the heart of the town centre, making it so easy to explore everything on foot. The hotel itself is beautifully decorated, full of charm and character. We were lucky enough to stay in the Jane Austen room, and it was truly unbelievable such a unique and special experience. We dined at the hotel for lunch, dinner, and breakfast. All the meals were excellent — good quality ingredients, generous portions, and very reasonably priced. The staff were friendly, helpful, and efficient throughout our stay. It’s clear they take pride in providing great service. We couldn’t have asked for a better getaway. Highly recommended, and we’ll definitely be returning!

Just arrived back from a lovely weekend staying at the beautiful Rutland Arms Hotel located right in the centre of Bakwell. We were a party of 4 adults & one dog there for a walking weekend. The hotel itself is full of charm & character with beautiful rooms ,bar area, lobby & dining room. All the walls covered in a stunning array of pictures which gives the hotel a very quirky individual feel. Our room 205 was lovely with all of the extras we expected with tea/coffee ,ironing facilities ,tv & a cooling fan. The bathroom was modern & very clean with topnotch toiletries. Our friends room over in the courtyard was great but had very limited space for their dogs travelling cage (used to make him feel safe & secure in a different environment from home)he's a labrador not a chihuahua so takes a bit of space .Hence only 4* rather than 5. The food was excellent with lots of choice. Breakfast was a great start to the day but differed from Saturday to Sunday with less eggs being served on the 2 days, perhaps different chefs or the hens had stopped laying . Evening meal on the Saturday was tasty & well presented which was enjoyed by all but very surprised when the bill arrived as it was a lot more than we had calculated. It eventually transpired it was not ours but a different table we could have quite easily had paid this if we not spotted the error. A 10% service charge is included on the bill which is voluntary . On the Saturday we seemed to have an invasion of the dreaded Wasps which become annoying whilst eating & drinking (Mother nature always seems to send something to annoy )perhaps a decoy of something sweet /small cup of cider would have been an attempt to distract them. The staff were friendly & professional at all times & made us feel very welcome. Great added bonus of free parking for hotel guests . Thankyou to the team for picking up my email when we got home as I left my walking jacket in the hotel & agreeing to post back out to me . Would highly recommend this hotel with its lovely facilities & staff to family & friends. We would certainly use the Rutland Arms again.

We took some friends out to dinner at the Rutland Arms Hotel and we can't speak highly enough of the dining experience and service we received. Situated in the heart of beautiful Bakewell, it has become our favourite place. The dining room is so well planned for privacy while we ate, the food was exceptional and the staff were kind and attentive. We were especially grateful to staff during this visit as one of our friends felt poorly and the staff kindly looked after her. We didn't find out any names but would like to thank the man who we thought might be the restaurant manager on the evening of Friday 12th September and other staff.

Have had dinner here tonight on our last night in Bakewell, and everything was as good if not better than we hoped it might be. The staff were attentive and happy which always puts the evening on to a good footing. The dining room was......well look for yourselves. Emily and her colleagues couldn't have been more welcoming. Oh! The food and drink were excellent too!! Thank you all and see you next year.

An absolutely stunning restaurant in a prime location in Bakewell. Thoroughly enjoyed the experience with very helpful waiters. Located just opposite the Bakewell green with the original Bakewell bakery within 2 minutes walking distance. Food was generally as expensive as a nicer pub but atmosphere was that of some of the nicest restaurants out there. Brilliant value for money. There was also a wonderful bar that looked well tended to and even featured Victorian stuffed deer on the wall! All very clean and comfortable. We went for Sunday lunch and it was very busy. The service was attentive, but the food was a little slow, though good when it arrived.

The Blind Bull is a modern restaurant that offers delicious cuisine and stunning views, with the option to dine in their garden. The establishment is dog-friendly and also provides accommodation just a short walk away. The rooms are beautifully decorated and cozy, perfect for a December stay. The menu at the restaurant constantly changes, ensuring there's always something new to try, and the service is efficient, fast, and friendly. It's highly recommended for those looking for a great dining experience combined with comfortable lodging.
A Michelin recommended restaurant - and I can understand why. The food here is incredible, showing true excellence in their plating - the food was presented incredibly notably the starter of the smoked eel which we had which was delicious, and the roasts here are done amazingly. The meat is the star of the show being tender and melts in your mouth, with a perfect amount of gravy to pair. The roast potatoes are done well, extremely crispy however we did find they were a bit dry, although amazingly fluffy in the middle. Carrots soft and sweet and cooked well and the cauliflower cheese too followed in the same quality. Although we did not get any desserts without a doubt I feel you’d find that they’re amazing too. Placed in the country side it could be a pain to get too, however the amazing food and the great view that comes with it, I would say it’s well worth the trip. The service too was quick and polite with our servers doing everything to make sure our visit was as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. It’s clear to see why this is such a highly respected establishment.

We had dinner here and it’s such a beautiful location with fantastic views across the valley from the garden. Everything we ordered was delicious, and the soda bread with butter and salt was like eating a warm hug. The only downside was the service was on the surly side, like the all the waiting staff had a slightly weird vibe. It could’ve been because we were tourists to the area or just an off night, and certainly not enough to put anyone off a visit.

Excellent food. We had the braised beef and lamb. The beef was cooked rare and had just enough char. The lamb was cooked medium and was very tasty. The grilled onions were cooked well and the purées created on interesting mix of tastes. The triple cooked chips were perfectly crispy on the outside and soft and tender inside. Service was excellent and the atmosphere charming.

I have to give The Blind Bull an A1 rating. The location, with walks just minutes from the door, the professionalism of the staff, cleanliness of the room & quality of the food. The only negative was, the room we were in was 'Pet Friendly'. I'm not & so have issues about dog paraphernalia in my space. I now know we could have booked an alternative room, but was not aware at the time of booking.

Perfect Sunday lunch. We pre booked a table for us and our three large dogs. We were greeted by a lovely young lady who showed us to our table which was out of the way with our dogs. The champagne was good value and all three courses of our meal were fabulous. I didn't have room for desert but I couldn't resist. The white chocolate dessert with the thyme and raspberry was to die for. The service was attentive and professional. The young lady serving was a credit. Thank you so much.

Potentially the best pub meal I have ever had. The roast was insane. The beef melted in your mouth like butter and the veg was cooked and seasoned to perfection. Staff were so friendly and very accommodating. Could not recommend this place enough.

We had a fantastic experience at The Blind Bull. The food was absolutely delicious I’d highly recommend both the lamb and beef options, which were cooked perfectly and full of flavour. Great value for money too. What really stood out was the service. Even though we hadn’t pre-booked, the team went out of their way to get us a table, which we really appreciated. Friendly, welcoming, and attentive staff paired with outstanding food made it a brilliant visit. We’ll definitely be coming back highly recommend!

Wildes Inns, located in Chesterfield, offers a luxurious countryside retreat with elegantly decorated rooms, a chic restaurant, and a spa. The property features a garden, bar, and terrace for guests to enjoy. It is also known as an award-winning wedding venue set amid the picturesque surroundings of Derbyshire's tranquil countryside. Guests have praised the exceptional service provided by the staff during events and dining experiences at The Orangery.
Booked our wedding for next year, so we have been going every so often to look around and try the food. We first went for a Sunday dinner in January, and it was amazing. Everyone enjoyed their food, and we had cornflake tarts and sticky toffee pudding, which were really nice. At the time, we weren't particularly impressed with the drinks service as it was just one man on the bar servicing the restaurant and a little chill out area. However, this had improved drastically when we visited last week, I had seen a reply to a review saying they were looking to improve that aspect. Drinks for 5 people only took a few minutes. The afternoon tea was excellent value for money, and the scones were some of the best I've eaten. We will be back again soon to try the savoury version. Also, the fish and chips as they looked and smelt incredible. Fingers crossed, we get this standard of food on our wedding day 🤞

Visited Wildes with three friends on Friday 16th May and had a fantastic experience. The venue itself has been designed to a very high standard – stylish, welcoming, and perfect for a relaxed evening out. The food was excellent across the board – beautifully presented, full of flavour, and clearly made with quality ingredients. It definitely felt like high-value dining, ideal for special occasions or a treat. Service was also great – friendly, attentive, and professional throughout the night. Overall, we had a wonderful time and I would highly recommend Wildes to anyone looking for a memorable dining experience.

We had a lovely afternoon tea on the special offer in April. We hadn't been to the hotel before but it is lovely, nice outside space comfortable chairs for eating and restful decoration in the restaurant. Tables were well spaced and the service was excellent. Afternoon tea was a delight, very light and airy, warm scones and interesting small cakes all freshly made. We didn't stay as we live fairly locally but I am sure the rooms match the rest of the hotel.

**⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ An Unforgettable Birthday Celebration at The Van Dyke Hotel!** From the moment we stepped into **The Van Dyke Hotel**, we knew we were in for something truly special. Celebrating both of my daughters’ birthdays here was an absolute delight, and every single detail exceeded our expectations. The standout feature? The **electronic waiter—a charming robotic cat** that not only delivered our food with precision but also added a fun, futuristic touch to the whole experience. Watching it glide to our table with our meals was such a hit with the kids (and let’s be honest, with us adults too!). The **service was impeccable**—every staff member was warm, professional, and went above and beyond to make our celebration memorable. They made sure everything was perfect, and their attention to detail truly shone. Now, let’s talk about the **food**—because wow, it was incredible! My daughters both had the **swordfish**, which was cooked to perfection, while I indulged in the most **succulent rack of ribs** I’ve ever tasted. My partner’s **chicken dish** was equally delicious, seasoned beautifully and full of flavor. But the real showstopper? **Dessert!** Just when we thought it couldn’t get any better, the robotic cat returned, **singing "Happy Birthday"** as it delivered our sweets. The girls were absolutely thrilled—it was pure magic! If you’re looking for **exceptional food, innovative service, and an unforgettable dining experience**, The Van Dyke Hotel is the place to be. We left with full hearts (and full stomachs!), already planning our next visit. **Thank you for making our double birthday celebration so extraordinary!**

Ever since I first drove past Wildes and saw pictures of the Sherwood suite online I knew that was the place I wanted to get married. When I finally had a ring on my finger, I booked an appointment with the wedding team. On looking round the inside of the hotel, myself, my now husband and mother in law fell in love with the ballroom as it’s so light and airy and the garden is to die for. So… we booked our special day with just nine months to plan it due to limited dates being available for 2025 despite it only being July 2024 when we booked. Everything in the hotel ouse’s elegance from the floral wall in reception, the luxurious smell, the decor in the restaurant and the rooms are simply stunning with free standing baths and balconies. The pink tiles are every girls dream bathroom! Myself and the bridal party stayed the night before the wedding where we enjoyed lovely meals and drinks in the outdoor area. We had adjoining rooms so we could all stay together and get ready together the following morning which was great. They also accommodated my canine bridesmaid which was the icing on the cake being able to have her there with us for the whole weekend. The weather was amazing for April so we got married outside which was fabulous and we enjoyed our drinks reception outside too. Being outside also lead to some magical photo opportunities. The whole day ran perfectly from beginning to end thanks to Paige our wedding coordinator. Everyone commented on how relaxed the day was which is credit to Paige as she handled everything on the day so I could just be in the moment. She absolutely nailed it and we cannot thank her enough. The whole wedding team was very responsive when I had queries and the regular meetings ensured we were on track with planning which was an absolute breeze from beginning to end. The food on the day was second to none. All the guests enjoyed their main meals and the evening buffet. Designs by Daykin did a fantastic job of the room decor which turned out exactly as I had imagined it. Genuinely I couldn’t have asked for a better day, I was on cloud nine the whole day. So much so I’m ready to do it all again tomorrow ha ha. Every woman dreams of feeling like a princess on her wedding day and Wildes definitely made it happen. From the bottom of my heart, I cannot thank you all enough. To anyone considering booking a wedding at Wildes, do it! You won’t regret it.

Andrea deserves a mention too - wonderful lady. Your staff are an absolute credit to your hotel. We intend to be back regularly for food, drinks and the odd overnight stay. Been today 28/6for afternoon tea , a return visit as always had fabulous food and service in previous occasions as this was my daughters birthday decided to book the savoury afternoon tea . So I booked 2 teas X 2for 1 . There were 3 of us going in total . Due to unfortunate circumstances my daughter could not attend . I tried to ring several times no answer to alter the booking before my arrival . I spoke to a member of staff who said he would see what he could do , he did nothing he finished his shift and left ( that came from the next member of staff we spoke to ) I asked if I could have a gift voucher for the tea I did not require , at this point no food had been prepared, I was just told no , but you can take it home . I just wanted to be able to treat my daughter at some other time . Especially in the circumstances I wasn’t asking for my money back . No customer service given at all . We even had to ask for drinks . Extremely disappointed by my experience today . I’ve always said to people go to wildes it’s amazing . Not any more . It was not explained to myself on booking that it was non transferable or refundable, otherwise I wouldn’t have asked .At no point did I ask for a refund , I asked if it was possible to have a voucher .As for taking it away boxed up . I had paid £76 for 2 of us to have afternoon tea , of course I was going to take it away .

My wife and I attended a wedding here. Everything was beautifully decorated and the room was clean and and warm on arrival. The hotel is separated into a new bit and old bit to allow 2 functions to take place simultaneously. The food and service for the wedding breakfast was amazing and the walled garden where the ceremony took place was wonderful. The hotel is very close to a very busy road and our room faced the road, I couldn't have the window open as the traffic noise was constant day and night. Bar service was painfully slow in the main bar for drinks before the ceremony but good in the function suite. Room prices were fair but food and drink were extremely expensive. £20 for fish and chips £34 for an 8oz sirloin and £19 for a burger ( when you consider a burger is £26 and fish and chips is £24 at Gleneagles, considered one of the best hotels in the world.) All of the premium gins were £8 for a single (That's £280 profit a bottle) or £12 for a double (£200 profit a bottle) and £12 for 250ml of wine. Overall a good experience but will avoid this hotel when visiting family locally just because of the food and drink prices. Beautiful hotel, fair room prices, great facilities, ideal central location with good road links, very attentive staff during the ceremony and wedding breakfast but the food and drink prices left a bitter taste I'm afraid.

Beautiful venue for a wedding, the staff here were so accommodating the whole time. The food throughout the day was amazing, the grounds and building are beautiful. The rooms were beautiful and the beds comfy. What a great place to get married I would highly recommend this place.

It is a nice hotel. The staff are friendly. The restaurant staff are nice and helpful too. Unfortunately I would describe the rest of the experience as somewhat shambolic. There appears to be some kind of disconnect between the booking process and your hotel experience. Adding extras such as dinner and spa access to your room booking appear to mean very little. We arrived having added a spa access package to our booking, only to be told it doesn't mean anything and we would need to call the spa separately and arrange our visit with them. Having pre booked dinner the system was confusing and left us feeling bemused at why we had actually booked. Luckily the restaurant staff mostly seemed helpful. However it is the only restaurant I've had to queue for a dessert menu, which inevitably took far too long. The quality of the food was very good though for the price. Could be a really nice hotel if some care was applied to the booking process. Location is good and parking is plentiful.

- Set in beautiful grounds. Quiet location. - The staff were friendly and helpful. Checking in was simple and easy to do. - Disappointed with the rooms and property as a whole. The rooms are tired and need some attention. For example, there was wallpaper missing on parts of the wall. - We had a small bath but no shower. - In the bath, there were 2x 35ml bottles which were one body/hair wash and one conditioner. For a spa hotel, these details are important and could so easily be rectified. - Our room was changed to an alternative one and we received a complimentary bottle of wine. We appreciated this gesture. However, the room we did go into was not as nice as the one we had booked.

Got married here on Friday, I'm a stress head bride (sorry to all the staff) but everyone was amazing, nothing was too much, food was lovely, anything I asked/needed was done instantly. We fell in love the moment we saw the venue, I'm glad we didn't even look anywhere else because ringwood made it perfect, can't thank everyone enough!

The garden was huge and beautiful. The staff were very friendly. The food selection was limited at breakfast. I had a bacon sandwich and it was below average. It was just 2 slices of white bread and bacon, no vegetables or anything else. The hotel guests consisted mainly of old people. It made you feel out of place. You could tell from the rooms that this hotel is mainly geared towards older people. TV had no Smart TV (streaming), no sockets next to the beds. The bathroom was also equipped for old people.

Attended for a wedding The venue was great for grounds and the main rooms. The rest of the hotel (bedrooms, dinning area erc) are very dated. As expected the pricing at the bar is high, but the variety of drinks was decent but not fabulous.

We had a spa day booked of which was fantastic. Me and my partner decided to use the restaurant located here. Very quiet nice looking asked if we were able to order food and told by who I assumed was in charge allowed us to but asked us to be quick due to food service stoping at 8. We ordered quickly and this is when it went all down hill. Drinks came no ice no glass so we used the water glass on the table. Drinks also came at separate times. By 8:45 we asked how long our food would be the manager I assumed said he’d check on it for us. By this time new guest came and sat down which we were confused as service stopped 45 minutes ago. 9pm my partners meal came out a gammon roast looked incredible until my partner felt the plate was ice cold all the food was cold only the gravy was warm, luke warm at best. After travelling 1hour 50 for the spa day and then having an hour wait for food we decided to cut our loses and leave we hadn’t even received my meal. When I went to the manger he didn’t seem bothered at the slightest just said ok about us leaving.

Not as posh as it could be and showing some signs of distress, but it served its purpose for a room for the night. The Coachhouse restaurant is nice though with really nicely presented food served. Not a huge selection on the menu to choose from but what there is tastes as good as it looks. Waiting staff are knowledgeable and friendly and make you feel right at home. Breakfast is okay I suppose nothing as special as the evening meals and I’d like to have a coffee pot on the table rather just a cup full.

Casa Hotel and Cocina Restaurant is a contemporary and chic hotel located just outside the Peak District in Chesterfield. The hotel offers bright and simple rooms, including 11 business suites, along with amenities such as a gym, bar, and fine dining at the Cocina Restaurant. With a subtle Spanish theme running throughout the property, Casa Hotel provides warmth combined with an exotic touch.
Lovely hotel with spacious rooms. Good choice of food including for people with dietary requirements. The hotel was very busy on the Saturday night we stayed, so breakfast on Sunday was quite manic. All in all a lovely stay with what we would expect in a 4 star hotel. Staff are professional.

This was our first visit to Casa Hotel — we only went for a meal, and while the venue itself is lovely, the food was absolutely dire. We ordered the £90 T-bone steak sharer, asked for it medium, but it arrived more rare, chewy, and completely tasteless. To make things worse, all of the food was lukewarm at best. For a place with such a good reputation, it was incredibly underwhelming. The staff did take 20% off the bill, which we appreciated, but even then it still felt like the worst £100 we’ve ever wasted. Sadly, we won’t be returning — avoid at all costs

A friend and myself stayed for two nights as we were visiting a number of places of interest in the area. We were very pleased with the hotel, big and clean rooms and a good sized shower room with hand held and rain water shower. We had tapas dinner at the Barca Bar on our first night and enjoyed it. The breakfast buffet was good as well. We would be happy to return to this hotel again.

The hotel itself is brilliant, the staff are beyond friendly and make you feel right at home. The only negative is when I asked for a Guiness, none of the staff know how to correctly pour it. Please correct this.

Booked a jacuzzi suite and it was absolutely gorgeous. The receptionist on arrival was miserable and couldn’t wait to cut me off but the staff in the morning were amazing, including the waitresses at breakfast. Food was great, plenty of variety and replenished quickly. Great experience

Really good hotel. Staff excellent, food in the restaurant for the evening and breakfast was very good and of a high standard. Free parking, EV charging available with Pod Point. Would highly recommend.

Reception, restaurant area, the bar & the rooms are nice and clean & well decorated. The food in the downstairs bar is mediocre. Harissa chicken scewers were severely overcooked and dry. The function room is really good with a terrace on the back with plenty of outdoor seating. The issue with this hotel is that it is serverly overpriced. Charging near London prices in Chesterfield for drinks. Breakfast in the restaurant was nice, good quality bacon & sausage however I found shell in my scrambled egg which wasn't too pleasant.

Guests can enjoy delightful dining experiences at the hotel's restaurant, which boasts two AA Rosettes for its exceptional cuisine crafted from fresh seasonal ingredients and regional flavors.
The hotel was excellent, with very friendly and attentive staff. Although we had requested a cot in advance, both through a note on the booking and a follow-up phone call there was a fold out bed in the room upon arrival. Fortunately, a member of the housekeeping team noticed this as we were entering the room and promptly resolved the issue. Her assistance was outstanding and greatly appreciated. We were there for an event and the buffet was both plentiful and a good variety. We really enjoyed it. The evening meal was very enjoyable.

The staff are very nice. The rooms are very tired and need upgrading. There was a lot of webs on the top of the floor lamp that have been there a long time. We stayed on a bed breakfast and three course meal package at £179. The meal was very nice. I would advise you to check your bill on departure. The receptionist was very helpful and adjusted our bill accordingly. The setting of the hotel by the river is very nice but the grounds need work to get it looking better.

The positives. Staff are lovely, food was excellent, great location. The negatives. We stayed in a suite, c.£189 room only. No fridge, water or glasses in the room. The room itself has definitely seen better days, no pull cord on the blind, bathroom light coming away from the ceiling, same with the sealant around the sink and cracked floor tiles. Now, the worst part is the bed. It tilts to one side (towards the bathroom) the mirrored headboard was covered in someone else's hair grease and the pillows were solid and cheap (we ended up using the cushions out of the lounge). This resulted in a terrible nights sleep.

We had one night at the hotel. The room, one of the cottages, was quite tired and a little small but still comfortable. The bathroom was too small for me and using the loo for anything other than a pee was impossible , I’m 6’3” ! Dinner and breakfast in the restaurant was good. Lovely unique location, well worth staying there

Rooms were a bit tired and in need of some tlc,but very clean and the bed was very comfortable,we had no aircon but had a desk fan. Some of the waiting staff were very attentive and helpful, the setting was great and I think more could be done with the outside space. We would definitely stay here again.

Stayed here before a flight with parking during a holiday. Staff at check in and dropping car keys off were robotic. Not unfriendly but no attempt at pleasantries etc. The lady on reception when we collected our car was lovely. Service with arrow taxis to and from the airport was perfect. Quick, efficient, helpful & friendly. The room ..... we were in some separate cottages which could be lovely... the entrance to them was up a Web covered stair case. This clearly hadn't been cleaned in a very long time. This was accessed via the road with no path, not ideal with a 3 year old. The room seemed perfect at first, fairly large with a huge bed and extra beds for both children. This was a hot night and that's where the issues started. The cold tap ran Luke warm. The windows can't be opened due to flies from the river. Two fans were provided but with no where to plug one in on one half of the room. The lamp is part of the table and the fan wouldn't fit on with it. We were all boiling all night and barely slept. We could have just driven through the night for the amount of sleep we had. Overall our stay was OK. Would we stay again...... probably not.

Afternoon tea for two with a glass of prosecco Not the best afternoon tea compared to others at a similar cost, it was ok, acceptable, would I recommend it, maybe not. The hotel is looking a little tired. The staff are good, welcoming and polite. Can't comment on the food or accommodation.

The little hotel is hidden away but well signposted. We booked one of the better executive rooms but unfortunately it was small with a double bed and TV. Quite clean, and the hotel itself was well presented. We felt some of the staff could have had better training in regards to welcoming guests and it was almost empty when we stayed so no atmosphere. It was very average in our opinion but as mentioned pleasant and clean.

With complimentary Wi-Fi and parking, it’s an ideal choice for travelers seeking convenience without compromising on comfort.
Came and stayed 2 nights. Room very clean and spacious. Staff very helpful and friendly. Little disappointed in a few things. Came down at midnight for a drink as thirsty bar wasn't open. Water from the tap in the room was warm. A vending machine in the lobby would be great. Also the breakfast the sausage and bacon are cheap. The coffee machine doesn't make a decent coffee. Get a Costa coffee machine instead.. but overall a pleasant stay.

We had a very good stay overall. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and nicely decorated, making for a relaxing experience. The staff were friendly and welcoming—special thanks to Allison for her excellent service! A few areas could be improved. The corridors felt a bit empty and would benefit from some artwork to add warmth and character. Dinner was tasty, but there were some issues with missing ingredients (e.g., “Peking Duck with Pancakes” served without spring onions), which didn’t match the menu description. Parking was easy once on-site, but the location was a bit tricky to find. A sign on the main road would make arrival much smoother. The bar and restaurant areas were lovely and well-maintained, but the outdoor spaces could use some attention. Uneven paving slabs pose a trip hazard, and the pool area is in need of refurbishment—it currently detracts from the otherwise pleasant surroundings. Lastly, I recommend updating the restaurant menu on the website to reflect current offerings and avoid confusion. Would definitely consider staying again with a few improvements!

Great room and service. Really good for the price with minibar and breakfast and parking included. Easy access to M1 Motorway and very short drive into Nottingham. Best not to try to go to Nottingham on Marathon day if you want to get stuck in traffic Jam 😊. Downside: Elevator out of order. EV charger was faulty. Hence ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Would stay here again.💯

Overall happy with our stay. Good facilities and had a modern clean feel. A more isolated location so nice and quiet. Room had A/C which was lovely plus a fridge to keep some snacks cool. Free parking on site, but make sure you check your vehicle in with the machines at reception.

Hotel is located in a great location. It recently underwent renovation, presenting a modern design, friendly service. The room was very clean and well equipped. Rating 9/10, only because of the breakfast that does not meet the standards of NOVOTEL hotels - poor product quality, small selection and terrible coffee with milk powder..
Robert P — Google review
Never leave reviews but have to mention the cleanliness. And more importantly the staff. From the night receptionist Paul who went above and beyond for us when we checked in late. The person on the desk in the morning was lovely but didn’t catch her name. And the lady who brought the breakfast up. All were so friendly we will definitely be back.
Daniel H — Google review
I chose this hotel because it was recently refurbished and in that regard it did not disappoint. The room was clean and fresh. There were tea and coffee making facilities, hand soap and shower gel. No drinking water, no shower cap, body lotion etc. although reception was able to provide shower caps on request. Despite the bed not looking overly comfortable we had a decent night’s sleep. The bed sheets were bobbly - would have been nicer if they were crisp. The noise from the motorway (given the location) did not disturb us. Having a separate toilet without a wash basin somewhat defeats the purpose. The shower and sink were clogged and so much water pooled in the shower tray that you had to stop the water for fear of flooding the bathroom. On arrival the receptionist was very friendly, as was the bar manager. A good selection of food at the bar and thanks to my silver ALL status we received complimentary welcome drinks. The breakfast was not great for vegetarians or vegans which we specified on the booking. All the standard fare but nothing was labelled and no one around to really ask. No alternative milks. Having paid extra for breakfast I ended up eating a slice of toast and instant coffee. The hash browns looked brown and dry rather than golden so we avoided. Not the standard I would expect for what claims to be a 4 star hotel. On departure the receptionist was just not interested in being there. No aspect of friendliness at all. All that said, would I stay again? Yes for the room (despite the sheets, the cleanliness of the refurbished room was important to me). However, I’d skip breakfast.
Priya G — Google review
Pretty decent! Pros: - Good value. Same price as the Travelodge nearby, but had aircon, fridge iron and safe. Nice spacious rooms. - Appreciated the decaf coffee in the room! - Just off M1, so easy to access from motorway. Points for improvement - Hotel looks a bit run down from the outside. In particular, repainting the lines in the car park might help uplift the appearance a bit. Didn't try restaurant so can't comment on that, but the lobby area and bar looked nice.

The park is family-friendly with nearby attractions such as Clumber Park and the Sherwood Forest Visitor Centre. Just got back from a 2 week holiday and wish we could go back. Extremely well equipped large lodge with hot tub. Site has big dog field, reception and organised 3 take away nights each week. Fish and chips, Indian and delicious homemade pizzas. Very dog friendly with Fantastic views of the countryside. All the staff are helpful and work hard to maintain the site to a high standard. It is a bit remote but some of the walks available a short drive away are fantastic. It is a nice peaceful site and adults only. Overall a great holiday and highly recommend.

We stayed for a week this summer and loved it, very welcoming and friendly staff. Toilets and shower facilities are excellent, very clean and well maintained. Lovely communal building where we used the kettle and microwave provided. Great location for visiting the surrounding area. We had a campervan pitch, lovely in the evenings with so much wildlife! Would recommend and will certainly look to stay at other sister sites or come back to Longnor if back in the Peak District.

Me and my partner have stayed here twice and loved it both times! We will definitely come back here again. Both the lodges we stayed in were beautiful. This time we stayed in one of the smaller lodges but it was just as beautiful. Had all the essentials you need. Friendly staff. Surrounded by nature it was amazing seeing all the rabbits roam around the park. Overall would rate 10/10 and would definitely recommend staying here for a lovely break.

What a lovely place. We had the Elm lodge with hot tub for the weekend. Friendly lady on reception on arrival. Then we were met at the Lodge to be shown how various things worked. We were left box of chocolates and a bottle of prosseco nice touch. The lodge was beautifully clean. Nice towels and bed linen. Bathroom nice large walk in shower. Kitchen had everything needed to be self sufficient if you wanted. Hot tub was great and nice to have a gazebo over so could be used all year round if the weather wasn't great. Added bonus separate towels for the hot tub and a washer and dryer in the cupboard in the entrance way. So could dry towels after hot tub use. Lots of rabbits hopping around wich we liked. Would I go back definitely.

What a place! Staying here for a week in our van and we’ve been so impressed from the moment we arrived. It’s spotless, really well kept and upon checking into the site they sent a staff member out to greet us and show us the pitch, even offering to show us around the site. Throughout the week, we’ve seen plenty of staff about who live on site, always friendly when in or out of uniform. They’re constantly maintaining the site and I’ve struggled to find a single thing I’d suggest to improve the site at all! It has a secure dog field just outside the game and a second open field with amazing views as soon as you exit the site and it’s the quietest site we’ve been on. Quiet time at 11pm is checked by staff and it’s never broken during our time here, offering such a great escape from the daily life where the birds and cows are the only noise. The onsite gym is great and the only camp site gym I’ve experienced, meaning I’ve been in the gym every day! The sauna is also great and priced at £5 per hour is a great way to finish your gym session of relax for the day. (It does say max 4 people, so I’m unsure if it’s £5 for all four at once or just per person as I went in alone… just check at reception). There is also a games room with darts and pool, and across the way is a communal kitchen including two microwaves, sink, kettle, freezer, ironing board, washer and dryer. Vending machines are also in here if needed at night. What a great little space. The on site shop is great too and is so reasonably priced that I regularly didn’t bother going to the Aldi that’s 15 minutes away (but that’s handy too!) as their stock items are the same if not only slightly more. Great for getting you out of emergency ice, beer, wine or snack situations! The dog wash is also a bonus as it’s a very dog friendly site! This is simply the best site we’ve been on and we can’t wait to be back next year, hopefully multiple times! If you want to really relax, get yourself a serviced pitch, set up and enjoy! They also do food runs for Pizza, fish & chips and curry on set days of the week. Our fish and chips weren’t the best, but that’s not the sites fault… we’ll be trying the curry on Thursday though! A massive thanks to all the staff, you do a great job and it’s really noticeable that you truly enjoy working and living here!

We spent a week in Youlgreave and popped into The George for a drink most days after being out walking. Staff were very friendly, lovely atmosphere and friendly locals. We ate here twice and both times the meals were excellent - large portions and so tasty. If you're lucky enough to go in when there are any sausage rolls left on the bar - you must buy one! It will be enough for two or more of you! Great little pub - we'll definitely visit again

Nice Pub in a nice area that serves very nice Dinner. Slightly pricey but I don't think it's too bad and you do very nearly get your money's worth. I went for a Small Cod n Chips (£16.50) and to say it was a small, the portion sizes are on the larger side... Maybe a bit too big but just about finished it 😂 Batter was crisp and chips were well cooked. Meal was great I would definitely be seeing myself coming again!

My partner and I had a truly enjoyable evening at the Geirge last night. I ordered the large cod and chips, and it was absolutely fantastic. The cod was so fresh and flaky, coated in a perfectly crispy batter, and the chips were just right, both homemade. My partner, Sarah, raved about her steak pie and mash, commenting on the tenderness and flavour of the steak and the creamy, homemade mash. It was clear that both our meals were made with care and from scratch, which made all the difference. The service was also excellent. We both agreed it was great value for money and would highly recommend to anyone for a delicious and satisfying homemade meal. We can't wait to go back!

Spontaneous stop for a late lunch. Parked out front, Hotel/pub is what I'd class as old school in decor and ambience in need of a major update. Service was fine, meals were plentiful if a little pricey IMO.

Called in here yesterday after walking to Youlgreave from Alport(15 mins)for a drink, pint of pineapple juice & lemonade, & a J20 was just over £6. We decided to have something to eat, they serve hot food until 3pm, then start again at 5pm, I had a hot turkey sandwich, with stuffing(separate in a bowl),& a dish of gravy,& some salad, which was a few pieces of green, tomatoes,& some onion. (£10.25),not cheap. The sandwich was lovely on brown bloomer bread, decent turkey breast pieces inside, very nice. My husband went for a large cod & chips(£18.50), which came with peas,& the same salad as the sandwich, definitely not cheap, but it looked lovely, and he said it was as he started eating it, however as he worked his way to the middle of the fish he said the batter on the inside next to fish was quite thick & almost like a pudding, almost still a bit wet, where it wasn't cooked as well as the thinner outside edge. I also noted that the salad was underneath the fish on the plate so made it a bit warm, which didn't appeal, I think a bigger plate would be a good idea then everything has it's own little place on it. Such a shame as it looked gorgeous, but overall just didn't feel it was worth the money, normally we do say something if food isn't up to standard but he had had enough by then, so we did just leave what he didn't want. Friendly land lady,& they do welcome dogs as well.

This is the third time I've visited this pub due to it being my daughters favourite place to go after a walk in the area. We absolutely love their sunday roasts , we find none of the pretentious rubbish that some pubs try to force on you. This is delicious locally sourced grub with a touch of "home cooked about it. The meats are perfectly cooked and well seasoned, the roast spuds have a perfect crispy coating with a fluffy interior, and the gravy is to die for! All is served with a generous portion of veg none of this couple of Carrots here and a Cauliflower floret there per person, there's is always plenty to spare ! They also have a great menu for other cooked food, which again we've found always well cooked and presented. It's a traditional pub that serves the usual commercial lagers and soft drinks but also has 5 or 6 draught ales on as well, so plenty of choice. We have also always found the staff welcoming and friendly with nothing too much trouble for them. If you can, get a table outside overlooking the church, if you time this right when all the tourists and bikers have left the peaks to go home, you will have a peaceful experience with that rural village pub vibe. This place is well worth a visit! Note : The photo included only shows the meat plate as I was a bit premature in my picture taking as the veg hadn't arrived yet 🤦‍♂️

The restaurant is very quiet on Thursday, so we enjoyed our time with nice food. No menu for kid but the staff offered bread for our baby. The main courses did not bring a wow impression but we appreciate the very fresh ingredients. Our baby really loved the toast and pan-fried veg. He had great time crawling around without disturbing other guests.

My husband and I stayed at this hotel in September 2024 and raised a complaint about our poor experience caused by their failure to regulate their car park and aweful wifi signal. Our complaint raised in september, which to this date (8 months later), has still not been acknowledged or responded to by the directors of this business, despite chasing on various occasions. The Manager Harry provided a response to our complaint which failed to appreciate the inconvenience caused to us and offered no part refund or offer of good will for the stress their poor management caused. This hotel does not take the experience of customers seriously and has an atrocious record of dealing with complaints. I would not recommend this place and if I could give a 0 star, I would. On the day we were due to check-out they had poor regulation of customer parking, they had an unstaffed reception which delayed our onwards travel, resulting in me being late for a work commitment. Yet, my wife was waiting at least 10 mins at reception to check-out of the room which contributed to making her late for her work commitment at 11:00am. We were informed there was only one receptionist who would be with us to allow us to check-out soon, yet still waited at least 10-minutes to check-out which is completely unacceptable. This delay adversely impacted our plans for the day, in particular, it made us late for work meeting at 11 which made her look very unprofessional and caused her stress; We then were delayed by the hotel for a further 15 minutes to depart after we had checked out from the customer car parking area because the hotel staff allowed a BT contractor to park in front of parking spaces and the accessway leading to the customer parking area, which meant that no guests could leave as the road was blocked. The hotel also allowed a customer to park on the access in front of the BT contractor who we had to wait for before we could leave. We were told by a hotel staff that the hotel was aware that the customer was parked here because they were having breakfast with the hotel! This is extremely poor as the hotel was clearly aware that the BT contractor was at their hotel to fix the Wi-fi and were aware that the guests who had blocked the car park for a considerable amount of time were having breakfast, therefore the hotel staff failed to ask these people (or insist) that these persons move their vehicles immediately to a suitable car park (or overflow) to clear the access for other guests. This 15-minute delay made us late for a work appointment for 11am and caused her considerable distress. Parking in the access was not permitted as there is no parking spaces outlined and this would obviously block the access, causing inconvenience to hotel guests who had parked legitimately. We also consider this was a health and safety risk to us by being blocked in should a fire have occurred. Wi-Fi signal was extremely poor and couldn't connect - we tried to connect to the free Wi-fi during our stay for a business call on MS Teams, but the signal was so poor my wife had to apologise to those present and re-arrange. A hotel with a proposed 4* star standard sould not have such issues with this. Also, we were extremely disappointed that the Wi-Fi issues were not communicated to guests before or during their stay. Only at the point of check-out when my wife mentioned this to reception, the receptionist explained that the hotel were in the process of switching Wi-Fi and had issues with it so this is why the BT contractor was there. Do not stay here as they simply care about profit over customer service and experience.

We stayed at Brocco the night of our wedding and decided to revisit for an anniversary. It was just as we remembered! Wonderfully helpful and friendly staff, and very cosy stylish rooms. We also visited their restaurant and they gave us a free desert to share to congratulate us which was a delightful surprise. We will be back!

Nestled in the charming Darley Abbey, The Coach House is a delightful B&B that beautifully marries history with modern comfort. Housed in an elegant 1860 gentleman's residence, this unique retreat features seven individually styled rooms, each boasting vibrant decor and a mix of contemporary furnishings and antiques. Guests can unwind in one of three tastefully designed lounge areas, including the inviting Dairy with its cozy wood-burning stove.
Had the most amazing stay at the Coach House last week. We stayed here the evening before my wedding and it was fabulous. Zoe was brilliant and really took care of us during our stay! The garden area was so beautiful to relax in with a drink. We even did some bouquet making on the table outside! The decor of every room was beautiful and the whole place had a lovely feel about it. Definitely want to come back in future! Thanks to everyone for our stay it was great!

We stayed here for two nights as my daughter was getting married nearby. The room was clean and decorated nicely. All the information needed was emailed in advance. The court yard was lovely with seating under a gazebo. Cushions and blankets along with lighting so we could chill out together with the bride to be and all the bridesmaids. Breakfast was great a lovely choice of food. Service was good and the food was quickly cooked. I cannot fault the coach house and would happily recommend it.

Highly recommended. Fabulous host. Was there when we arrived and was very welcoming. Well located for a short walk to the Mill with great bars/restaurants. Bed was comfy and breakfast selection was as impressive as the food! Have shared details with friends already. 10/10

We stayed at The Coach House for a friend’s wedding at The West Mill. The location was perfect for this, just a 10 minute drive away. Hosts are 5* friendly and accommodating. It was a really warm weekend but the room had a great fan in there, generally all the facilities are above and beyond. We asked for a cot to be in our room for our baby which was arranged no problem. Breakfast was delicious and high quality. We’d love to stay again!

The room was lovely, the photos don’t really do it justice, the decor created a serenely spacious, comfortable atmosphere, the furnishings were good quality, and it was well appointed. The breakfast was excellent. Homemade granola and fruit compote made it stand out for me, as did the excellent scrambled eggs (I didn’t try the rest of the cooked breakfast but it looked good. The garden is very sweet and the sunny sitting area and indoor lounge very inviting. The service is warm and professional. Altogether very good value for money. I would definitely return.

I stayed at The Coach House for a week earlier this year, during a trip home to visit family and friends. Everyone was so welcoming and helpful, and I had a fantastic stay. I stayed in one of the old stable rooms, which had a small private patio and a pond. The room was clean, comfortable, and especially lovely with the French doors open and the sunshine streaming in. The included breakfast was delicious and flexible, with options like lactose-free milk, eggs cooked to order, and a selection of cereals. There was also a nice range of fixed items on the menu to choose from. Tea, coffee, and juice rounded out the drinks. The Full English was a standout and set me up perfectly for the day. Next time I visit Derby, I will definitely stay at The Coach House again. Highly recommended.

We had 2 nights at the coach house for a wedding we were attending. Zoe was excellent, everything was perfect, she even put the lights on for us for when we arrived back from the wedding. The breakfast in both days were fab, would definitely stay there again

Cannot thank the coach house enough for going above and beyond. We recently booked the coach house for the night before and of our wedding and so glad we did! On the run up to the wedding there was nothing the team wouldn’t do to help, early check in added to the booking for a small fee, taxi and food recommendations, cots in rooms etc. We had the stables the night before the wedding, everything was immaculate and we used the dining room to have a lovely chill dinner. Breakfast the following morning was continental platters brought to the room while we got ready and were delicious! The team bent over backwards to help, coordinating suppliers, checking we had everything we needed. They helped with guests parking / collecting keys before we went over to our wedding. Absolute bonus to have the stunning gardens and outside are for some beautiful pictures. We then booked all 6 rooms for the night of the wedding for additional family. Rooms were swiftly turned over and left immaculately clean. Breakfast the following morning (hot breakfast in the dining room) was amazing, great selection so something for everyone. The little bar area with fresh milk and brownies was an absolute bonus! Thanks again to all the team at the coach house, we hope to be back again soon! Highly recommend to all, whether you have little ones or are a couple, staying for a big event or just a much needed night away.

Crich Lane Farm is a charming 17th-century farmhouse nestled in the serene Derbyshire countryside. The property offers cozy and rustic-chic rooms, some with shared bathrooms, as well as a sunroom/lounge for relaxation. Set on 30 acres of picturesque grounds, guests can enjoy the peaceful surroundings and even spot Koi carp in the pond. Within walking distance, there's a quaint village with a fish & chip shop and a welcoming pub serving food.
An excellent place to stay! Beautifully situated within easy reach of a gastropub. A friendly welcome, clean well appointed room, brilliant service and excellent breakfast (sadly accompanied by irritating commercial radio spewing advertisements and annoying pop songs, but you can't have everything!). We're definitely going to stay there again. I recommend it most strongly.

Great set up. Extremely well appointed rooms with quality furniture. Kate was Extremely helpful and the complete opposite to basil faulty! She was glad you were there. The breakfast choices were much varied and good value so much so that the full English defeated me and 5 hours later I can't eat another thing. Excellent Kate and husband . A great business.

We spent Easter weekend at this lovely B&B and will most certainly be back. Our family room was excellent, spotlessly clean, breakfast was delicious. Also did some fishing in the onsite lake. 10 min walk from the Horse and Jockey pub where we had a nice evening meal and also another meal at Pesto at The Peacock which was also very good. Bottle feeding the lamb and the Easter treats were a lovely touch. Thanks for hosting us!

Crich Lane Farm is the perfect B&B. Nothing was too much trouble for our friendly hosts; we were treated as honoured guests. The rooms were well-ordered and spotless, the breakfasts superb and I learned how to cook a soft boiled egg perfectly from Richard, our host. Can't recommend it highly enough.

Gardeners Cottage B and B in Bakewell is a charming place to stay, located near attractions like Caudwell's Mill Trust Ltd and Magpie Mine. The hosts, Elizabeth and her son Ivan, are knowledgeable about the area and provide great recommendations for things to do. Guests rave about the delicious breakfasts, with highlights such as Cumberland sausage and fresh porridge. The rooms are described as gorgeous and spotless, with lovely views of the surroundings.
Fabulous place to stay, lovely and quiet, super breakfast, lovely and clean, very friendly hosts and easy walking distance to Bakewell town centre. Short drives to surrounding areas and great base to go walking.

We’ve just got back from a lovely weekend at this B&B, it’s very cosy and with just 4 guest rooms it’s lovely and peaceful. The room was very classy with a good bathroom and cracking powerful rain shower. Good choice of breakfast options which are chosen the previous evening on a tick sheet, the food was great quality with plenty of orange juice and tea/coffee to wash it down. 10 minutes stroll into town but far enough to be quiet at night. The satnav got a bit confused, the driveway is in the top corner of Haddon Drive. The owners were very pleasant and helpful, we would definitely stay here again!

We stayed two nights and felt welcome from the minute we arrived at the door. The welcome was only outshone by the stunning, secluded location. Ivan cooked an amazing breakfast with a cheery morning greeting and nothing was too much trouble. Every breakfast was cooked to order with local produce. Highly recommended. The term B&B doesn't do it justice.

Whitton Lodge is a luxurious 10 bed and breakfast in Chesterfield, Derbyshire. The B&B offers hot tub and sauna, as well as a games room. Sweet and caring owners make this an excellent choice for large families or friendship groups.
Needed a last minute room as was judging at Ashover Show. What an absolute diamond find Whitton Lodge is! A quiet restful night with a lovely refreshing shower. The "quiet time" is a great idea. Kim, the property owner is such a fab lady. I felt at home right away and discovered a kindred spirit to boot 😁. She went out of her way to put me an "on the go" breakfast together as I had to leave early doors. The property itself is clean, tidy, welcoming and very spacious with ample parking. I won't hesitate to go back next time I need to be in that area. Thanks Kim!! Xx

Lovely property, childfriendly and homely. However some of the bed was uncomfortable. We stayed at the room with king size bed, I think it was room number 3. Just above the kitchen. The bed felt uncomfortable..it felt like the mattress was bending in the middle or sinking. And the hot water tap’s cover kept falling off. Other than that good placefor lager groups. Also no smart tv available just a regular one.
Scriptianmgr — Google review
Great stay at Whitton Lodge, the house was clean and large enough for all 26 of us to spend time together! Hot tub was a big hit as was the pool table! We will likely be coming back again!
Sarah H — Google review
Lovely place clean and tidy, plenty of parking, pub just round the corner does nice food
Mick A — Google review
We stayed as a group of 19 including kids. In many ways it was ideal: spacious lounge area with pool table, lots of seating. Dining room was good for our numbers but would be a squeeze with many more than 20 eating. The kids enjoyed the gaming ‘snug’ room. The down side to Whitton Lodge is the poorly laid out kitchen space which makes meal preparation and clearing up much more challenging than necessary. There are two kitchens in separate but adjacent rooms which would be so much more usable if knocked together and redesigned as there is plenty of space. The only other negative is some of the rooms were very cold over night: even with the radiators on max they didn’t kick out much heat. But all in all I’d recommend this for large groups as many boxes are ticked. The hot tub was enjoyed and the location was ideal for our geographically spread group. We will be back!
Chris D — Google review
Lovely large, open space, perfect for large families or friendship groups. Very sweet and caring owners. And there are goats right next door!! My only complaint would be the extra levels of self cleaning required prior to leaving, but I understand why, given the pandemic. I would definitely come back.

Fabulous place to fit families wanting to meet up. Lovely, clean, tidy big rooms. Wonderful big hot tub made it extra fun for us. Will definitely be back.

Located in sleepy, rural Alstonfield, Alstonefield Manor is a 16th-century manor house with beautiful Georgian features and Regency additions. It has lovely gardens and rooms with neutral palettes but always something interesting to take your eye. It's not strictly a hotel so guests have the added bonus of the stunning views from the estate.
A very special place. We stayed in the gorgeous Gardeners Cottage in the grounds of the B&B. Beautifully decorated and comfortable. Whilst the cottage has a lovely private terrace we also had access to the grounds which was perfect. We were blessed with fab weather so could sit out in tbe sun and enjoy the peaceful gardens. Fantastic friendly hosts too. Would highly recommend.
