The 20 best spots for margaritas in Durango

After a long day of traveling I had the driest tamale (masa fell apart and looked like sand) very little meat and the chili relleno with no cheese in the middle. Disappointed.

The tortilla soup was perfect. Just enough kick and balance of flavor. The stuffed sopapilla started out nice. The fried egg with green chile sauce on top. Overall, it was decent. The problem I had was way too much meat, which no biggie just put some to the side. Well, that's when it went downhill. The chicken was so lacking in flavor. I don't know if it just couldn't keep up with the awesomeness of the rest of the dish, but really, it tasted like boiled chicken seasoned sparingly. The wait staff more than made up for some of the hiccups at this neat little restaurant.

The food is absolutely amazing! Great atmosphere and staff. Our server Shane was truly something special. He was like a cold glass of water on a hot summer day. Refreshing! His quick wit and quirky humor lifted my day and brought a smile to my face! Thank you Shane, your my broken hero.

Don’t waste your money or time. What they serve is canned refried beans and pork cooked in chili powder. Weird clientele, like maybe only their family eats there. Honestly, if you drive a long way to Durango like we did, and want good Mexican food, you’re better off at Taco Bell. Friendly wait staff, which is why the 2 stars rather than one.

As usual, the food was amazing! We ordered our favorite dish which is the Santa Fe Enchilada plates with chicken. Avery, the waiter was friendly, promptly responded to requests, and was attentive!

Service from employees was great. Food quality , taste , preparation was not so good. Nothing had flavor all was bland. Owners need to take a part in tasting the food 3rd party - not good. Wish I had better things to say but really can not. I do not recommend this place.

Horrible dining experience. Server was not attentive. They went to a table who came after us versus tending to us. Also asked them if they wanted sopaipillas, but didn't ask us or give us any. Had the card sitting on the table for awhile before they finally cashed us out. Also, food is gross definitely not new mexican. Waste of money and overpriced.

“The work is the curse of the drinking classes.” On the corner of Main Avenue and W 7th, it has high ceilings, live music, dressed up female severs. My Beretta Pinot is yummy, so is the veggie quesadilla.

Fun and mostly enjoyable atmosphere offering an old west themed interior, combined with a piano player extraordinaire! Lonesome Dove meets Durango. The restaurant, well located in old town Durango, was nearly at full capacity, however a table in close proximity to the piano, was found within a short few minutes. This very skilled piano player aka the piano man, was the heart and soul of our evening. He was knowledgeable and accomplished, playing a wide variety of favorites, spanning several decades, while also accepting requests. For dinner, the hotel-themed burger w/ fries and a local craft beer was ordered, while my wife ordered the Cobb salad with a glass of Chardonnay. Decent meals w/ decent pricing. The only criticism involves our often forgetful waitress. Three times she had to be reminded of our simple request for a straw for our glasses of water. Most restaurants where we have dined instruct the waitstaff to carry straws with them, but apparently not here! Strangely inefficient! Even worse however was completely forgetting the strawberry ice cream we’d ordered for dessert. Reason, this particular blonde-haired waitress apparently does not consider the importance of taking the time needed to write down the order. This management failure is always a major warning sign to me. Come on ownership - instruct your wait staff to write or key the orders table-side and not to rely on an inefficient memory! Seems intuitive and yet a very basic fundamental when operating a restaurant. Order accuracy + food quality = happy customer. Kitchen confidential, I wondered how the renowned chef and food critic Anthony Bourdain might have opined. We were majorly disappointed by our waitress’ inattentiveness to our order, Will we return? Yes!

We really enjoyed our meal. The meatloaf filled half the plate! It was delicious. The atmosphere was charming, the service was excellent and extremely friendly. I know it seems silly but they made the best homemade ranch dressing, I now will never use bottled ranch again. Check them out for a great meal and some fun.

I’ve always loved visiting the Diamond Belle Saloon — the atmosphere is wonderful, the food is always great, but most importantly, it’s the people like Erik Rios who truly make the experience special. He’s not only an excellent bartender but also someone who brings warmth, professionalism, and genuine hospitality to every guest he serves. It was very disappointing to hear that he’s no longer there — the place simply isn’t the same without him. I truly hope management considers bringing Erik back, as his presence made such a positive difference and kept so many of us coming back time and again.

Old West vibe. The restaurant is connected to the old hotel and the staff is dressed like saloon girls and gentlemen. The menu is pretty limited. We had the pot pie and meatloaf. It was fresh and you could tell. Like they cooked it just for us even we got there. The place is a little small and we meter parked but for free. The Strater motel looks like it would be a fun place to stay.

I love to make a pit stop here when walking historic downtown Durango. They have good customer service and the girls are dressed like in the old Wild West.

Great saloon in an old hotel. Photo worthy. Servers are in full 1880's costume. Also has upstairs loft area for dining. Great food. Live entertainment on Friday nights. It really is worth a stop.

We had a very pleasant experience at Nini’s Taqueria! First of all, the owners greeted us immediately and explained the menu options. The restaurant was immaculately clean and it was obvious that the owners take pride in their store. I was pleasantly surprised by the portion of barbacoa on my bowl! My husband had to finish my bowl (which almost never happens). I love the mix of lettuce with cabbage and the delightful salsa options. I would definitely recommend this place over any taqueria in town!!! Delicious food, great service, clean restaurant, made to order quickly! 10/10

Food is amazing. I got the beef quesadilla and my dad got the chicken tacos. Completely unbelievable. Delicious and will come back ! Friendly staff!

We’re out-of-towners and had a fantastic experience here! The outdoor seating is beautiful, with stunning views and the charming sound of the train coming and going nearby. My boyfriend and I ordered the carnitas and barbacoa quesadillas—both were delicious. I also tried the jalapeño margarita, which was flavorful, crisp, and super refreshing. 10/10 would absolutely recommend this spot for you and your family!

We had a great lunch here. Hubby had burrito and I had chicken quesadilla. Both were excellent and reasonably priced.

The fish burrito with roasted serrano salsa was delicious. There is a small and a regular and the regular filled me up nicely. As a guy that eats to be full and not just “not hungry” I would recommend the regular. The Serrano salsa wasn’t too spicy and was wonderful flavor. Overall this was an affordable spot with a delicious fish burrito, delicious guac, and a nice patio off Main Street.

I wish I could give a better review for Nini's. I haven't eaten at Nini's for over 10 years (we don't eat out much.) It's changed quite a bit. I couldn't find much that was actually Mexican in my burrito. It was a mealy, boring store bought tortilla with rice & beans. Please invite some Mexican people in to teach you how to make tortillas and burritos. The fish burrito tasted like my Norwegian Grandma seasoned it. Try adding tomatoes, onions, cilantro, peppers and chilies. More fish, less rice & beans. My husband ordered a tortilla salad. It was a pile of rice and beans, some whole spinach leaves out of the bag, bland tomatillo salsa & some corn tortilla chips straight out of the bag. It could have had more attention to creating something more appealing.

Our go to place in Colorado for Tex-mex…. We love this place and always have great food and service at both Durango and Bayfield locations…. The other one in Pagosa sucks, different brother owns that one. So when you’re in Durango, definitely try this place.

You know the food is going to be amazing when the salsa doesn’t taste canned and is spicy and the chips are freshly warm. My favorite part was how they aren’t stingy with adding a lot in their plates! And lastly that dessert was AMAZING. Definitely stop by here for some good Mexican food.

We travel everywhere and always google places to eat to check the reviews first. I have to say WOW! The food here is Bunisimo!!!! I do have to comment if you ask for spicy, you get spicy!!! But oh so delicious! Compliments to the chef!

Awesome food and margaritas - fair prices. The bartenders are super nice and my husband is amazed. He counted 77 different tequilas to choose from!

We stopped to get a drink. I got my go to lemon drop martini. It was delicious, perfectly balanced. Ryan was a great bartender.

Amazing Food and Service! Tequila’s Mexican Restaurant is absolutely amazing! The Burrito of the Sea was delicious — packed with fresh seafood, full of flavor, and cooked perfectly. The service was excellent, and the whole experience was top-notch. Highly recommend this place!

Ordered carne asada tacos and they were okay not too much flavor and old ingredients. The pulled pork tacos were in chunks, sloppy and watery. The foods VERY over priced. the employees are very expecting, and rude. Not sure if we caught them on a bad day. We hadn’t gotten silverware or napkins and waited on our food for 20 minutes. We spent over 50 dollars just us being 2 people. The waitress was made rude remarks as me and my friend left, then ran to the back of the restaurant after I confronted her. Overall the service was very bad. unexpected to be honest and was an awful unprofessional experience. wish it could’ve been better. Salsa was good tho 😁

Menu says $3.99 for chips and salsa. They charged $10 and said too bad, the price changed. She also told me $6 minimum for cards, which is why I got the chips and salsa. Then the beer was $6.

OMG, some of the best authentic Mexican food I ever had, and I live in New Mexico. The sauces were life-changing, the portions were incredible and that's not even talking about the jalapeno spicy cucumber margarita. And on top of that the service and friendliness of the staff and owner was refreshing and will definitely bring us back again. Highly highly recommend. And very affordable.

We had a delicious lunch here today. The menu is extensive and the food is like home cooked. We had the Conchinita Pibil, just like found in Yucatan. The rellenos are huge. The flautas are generous. The tequila selection is par excellence.

Terrible experience. I ordered a menudo, the taste was terrible. I asked to change my order to something else, and he said I still need to pay for the soup that I am not eating??? And pay for the new entree as well. So disrespectful. Never seen such terrible service like that. Don’t recommend.

This restaurant delivers some of the best Mexican food I’ve had. We’ve tried a few dishes but, their seafood molcajete is my favorite, their loaded oysters are also fantastic. Oh and the drinks! I’ve tried a couple of their cocktails and have never been disappointed. We stumbled upon this place on a snowboarding trip and since we tried it, we make it a point to eat here every time we are in Durango (& drag our family members with us).

Our food was delicious! Probably the best Mexican food we had on our 10 day trip and we eat Mexican food almost every day! The only reason I am giving them 4 stars was due to the slow service at the beginning of our meal. Otherwise 5 stars!!

Food and customer service was great. Ordered the carnitas street tacos. Wasn't sure about eating here. After reading the reviews, and it being adjacent to our hotel, husband and I decided to give it a try. Glad we did. Will definitely eat here again.

Located next to the Best Western, was great after a long day on the Harley. Waitress and waitor were very friendly, food brought to the table quickly. very busy on a Friday night. HOWEVER, was very disappointed when heading back on Sunday and found it closed even though website listed hours as opened.

this restaurant is located right next to the hotel we were staying at and we thought that it would be nice to go there. not a huge selection of craft or different beers but a number of different Mexican beers which is to be expected I suppose from a Spanish restaurant. Two full pages of Spanish meals, one page of burgers. I was very happy to have a spinach and mushroom and cheese quesadilla with rice and refried beans and a plate of tortilla chips and salsa was brought to the table and it was wonderful. my dining companion was not quite as internationally adventuresome and stuck with a burger and fries what she said were fine. Oh no we thought it was great and our waiter was quick and very friendly

Went here for a show - they have a stage, and the acoustics are fantastic. They kinda screwed up my order there though, charging me $14 for 2 tacos and some rice that I didn't order when they offer a 3-taco meal for like $7. :/

Surprisingly good. We were overnighting at the Best Western hotel next door and neither of us were feeling well enough to go out for dinner. I knew there was a restaurant next door to the hotel, so I used google maps to learn what it was called and then did a web search to find their menu. I was rather leery when I only found pictures of their menu on their webpage, but we needed food and didn't want to go driving into town for it, so we decided to give it a shot. We ordered 5 tacos to split between us, a mix of carne asada, pollo asado and pork carnitas. They are "street taco" style -- just what we wanted -- and they were surprisingly good! My personal favorite was the pollo asado. The full order came with some green salsa that had just a bit of "kick" to it (guessing it's made with jalapenos), which we very much needed and appreciated. I can't speak for the rest of the cuisine they serve, but we'd definitely order these tacos again.

When I went the first time, there was no other customer. That immediately worried me. But just a couple of minutes into it, I became very comfortable when I started talking to the owner. The food was surprisingly very good. Surprisingly because no one else was there. Today I visited the place second time. Just as good experience.

The food was outstanding, absolutely worthy of the praise it has received. I truly wish there were a version of this in my community. Abide by the house rules, engage with the amazing people who work here, enjoy the wonderland, explore the entire building, and have some amazing conversation with the strangers you meet. Live in the moment under trees made of light, and don't miss out on the best jalapeno bombers in the world! Prices are affordable if you're going out, less than nearly everywhere in the neighborhood, with FAR better tasting food, service, and less attitude in the clientele. What an amazing gem!!!

We ate here TWICE during our stay in Durango because the food and service was so good. The second time, Tonny amazed us with a magic trick and making a rose out of a cocktail napkin. Excellent experience! (Tonny is on the right in this photo!).

Wow, we came in because of the ratings and great prices, hadn’t seen pictures of the atmosphere so we were quite happy with the unique style, everyone was super polite, and the food tasted amazing!

Great overall experience. Food was great with good flavor. Looks like they specialize in drinks tons of different cocktails, and they all feature around a main focus (each page has about 7 to 8 drinks.)

Our server Alec was great. Fun ambience inside and cool temps on the back patio. Very relaxing and happy hour strawberry margarita hit the spot!

We went there for the Philly Cheese steak sandwich. Not sure what we received. It looked like a hamburger patty. The place, much like the rest of Durango is way too boujee. Our waiter apologized for the horrible sandwich and removed it from the check. One and done for us.

Wow. Super good. Had carne asada tacos…excellent! What an incredible cocktail menu too. Had the Cure and the ORU. Good choices for me at least. Complex and flavorful. Great atmosphere too. Will be back for more!

6 if us for dinner. Got the cheese burger- the flavor of it was very good the texture was a little bit odd but not in a bad way but it was good and the fries were good also. The local rootbeer wasn't that great. The server didn't get one of our party's order to the kitchen. Comped a little bit to make up for the extra wait. Would recommend.

Unique flavors, casual atmosphere, attentive service, yummy cocktails. What’s not to like about this place? The sleeper on the menu is the cauliflower steak. So so good. I want to eat it again tomorrow!

A local recommended Chimayo Stone Fired Kitchen saying it is his favorite restaurant in town. It's easy to see why. The place has a cool vibe, interesting decor, and amazing food.

We drove pass Durango and found this place, the steak is really good, I guess Colorado mountains area is just expensive since they have a lot of tourism all years round, we didn’t have reservation but was seated quickly. The waitress even brought my dog some water. Great experience!

A wonderful restaurant with wonderful food. I completely forgot to take photos of the seasonal soup and the salad we got. I believe it was the warm butternut squash salad and we added steak - it was incredible. The pizza was fantastic, also forgot to take photo of that. The mocktails were fantastic as was the vanilla bean crème brûlée. I will come back here anytime I visit.

The steak flatbread is the best thing we had and worth the money. The burger was also good.

The food was obviously chef created. Service was good and they were gracious about accommodating us even though we didn't have a reservation.

I love the vibes of this place! Cozy and eclectic and a little oldschool upscale. The cocktails and food were thoughtful recipes and well executed.

I loved this bar! Callie was a great waitress. The atmosphere was amazing! The mousse was to die for. The drinks were also really good. The live music was nice as well. You can explore a little of the hotel when you go in too. It was such a cool experience.

Great cocktail bar and restaurant in the historic Strater Hotel in Downtown Durango. We went on a Saturday night and they had a guitar player playing great music. Our group ordered several cocktails and entrees - a vegetable pasta, stuffed acorn squash, Chile rilleno, and Mahi mahi, and everything was super tasty. The wait staff was super friendly and accommodating too. Highly recommended

I spotted this Spiritorium the first time we drove downtown and I was intrigued. I was destined to go here during our 9-day stay and I am so happy we made it. *smiles* I love, love, love the intimate atmosphere. During our visit, the guitarist was looping Johnny Cash and I was in heaven. the fireplace was next to us, we had a great window seat and our server was a gem of a delight. I ordered a dirty martini with blue cheese stuffed olives and I was impressed. Buzzed and impressed. I wish we would have nibbled on an appetizer since the reviews favor the food just as much as the cocktails.

Great place, but they come up under restaurants "open now" all the way to 11pm, despite the kitchen closing at 9pm. Would loved to have had a bite, the menu is awesome. But the one in this Google listing is outdated, everything has changed

Visited Balcony while in town for a wedding. Definitely gave me more college bar vibes than anything else, but drinks were strong and service pretty fast for how busy it was. Bathrooms are an interesting experience to get to, but not bad for this type of bar.

Nice spot. Decent views of town, fun to look down at the pedestrians and cars going by, and most importantly gaze at the surrounding hills. Not the best place to catch a sunset though. Burger was unremarkable in every way. Place was nearly full and the two waitresses that I could see were clearly struggling to keep up with the demand. They were definitely trying, but a lot of errors from being pulled in too many directions / making up for absent bar tenders and bar backs. Live music was a good balance of enjoyable if I wanted to focus on it, but easy to tune out when the conversation needed me to. I'd go back, but probably not for food, just drinks.

Unfortunately no food post 9:45pm, closes at 11pm I think. I already ate and wasn't interested in food, just wanted a few beers. I love getting served in the same plastic cup and told at 10:20pm (shame on me) it becomes a smoke fest up there, so stay at your own risk. I just really didn't feel comfortable here.

Staff is shady and place IS NOT non-local friendly. Bartender took my card to open tab when I ordered. When I asked for the check he verbally gave me a price- I then reminded him he had my card on file, he then brought the check which was several dollars more than what he had previously said. If it’s a cash discount- I didn’t see anything anywhere about merchant fees…SHADY. Also noticed a table of same bartenders friends (maybe regulars) arguing with several other tables around them. When it was brought to bartenders attention he brought his friends a round of shots. Great way to diffuse a tense situation.

My wife and I were visiting our son and his fiancée and came here for lunch on a Friday. It is located on the main downtown street and, you guessed it, is an upstairs establishment. It was a hot day, even at a table under an umbrella. It was busy. The young female server was very nice and attentive. The women had frozen margaritas and the men had IPAS. The beer was good but the women both said they did not really notice any tequila in them. A burger, two shrimp dishes, and a chicken sandwich(me) were ordered. The food took unusually long to come out. My wife did not think that she received enough shrimp but enjoyed them. I liked my sandwich and the fries were nicely seasoned and crispy. Though the table area and bar is not that large, they have a stage for live music. I recommend Balcony Bar and Grill.

Probably had at an off time. There was only one person working and she was running around like a crazy person. Not her fault. Apparently a couple people did not show. We only went in for a drink and listen to music. Nice location and a pretty good bandstand.

We loved it here. A local musician was playing and he was excellent, covering classic songs and interspersing them with some of his own great songs. The food was tasty, plentiful and really good value for money. There was a great array of beers including my favourite Stella Artois, and the prices were low. But most importantly the bartender who dealt with us all evening was lovely and personable. She made us feel really welcome, and always had a smile on her face. She dealt with multiple customers with ease and never left anyone waiting. I am just sorry we didn't ask her name but I'm sure her employer already knows that they have a gem there. She has blonde hair and a big smile, and was working on Monday evening 23rd June 2025. She made our visit to Durango even more memorable.

Great flavors and reasonable prices at Zia! I got the regular nachos and a bowl, both with carne asada. The meat, salsas, and toppings were very good! On the nachos, the cheese and toppings were all in the center / not distributed, so had to kind of re-engineer the thing to avoid being left with a bunch of chips at the end. For the bowl, I wasn't told that guacamole is extra, guess I should have assumed from Chipotle. I love and appreciate that they offer washable plates and silverware for eating at the restaurant – lots of places just go disposable for everything, which bums me out. Overall, great food for a reasonable price, but kind of a learning curve for a newcomer.

We came in on a road trip and hit Zia Taqueria after the D&S train. I got the Tuesday special Chile Relleno, family got tacos, quesadilla, and a super taco. Food is prepared in front of you while in line. Ingredients were fresh and had good flavor. If I'm being really picky, my Chile was a little old. It was the last one in the pan. It was still really good though. They load the food with toppings. They also have locally made specialty soda flavors at the fountain. We tried most of them. The cucumber soda needed some help, but the rest were great. Would definitely recommend. We had 13 in our party and everyone was happy.

On our way from Flagstaff to Golden, we stopped to have lunch with our nephew who lives in Durango and he highly recommended we join him here. Nephew had a burrito bowl, he got the Tuesday special, chilli relleno, she enjoyed some chips and guacamole. All were freshly prepared and tasty. We sat outside and our Nephew told us the backstory on the local chain. The vibe was very local and was a great stop for a Mexican style lunch. Highly recommend Zia Taqueria.

Zia Taqueria is outstanding. The food is fresh, flavorful, and truly authentic — every dish feels like it’s made with care. The ingredients are high quality, the flavors are bold, and the portions are generous. It’s the kind of spot where you can taste the difference right away. Friendly service and a welcoming atmosphere make the experience even better. Easily one of the best places around for authentic Mexican cuisine.

Do the north and south locations share owners? This south location is so unpleasant. The employees look miserable, the portions are vastly smaller, and the employees are just rude. The last three visits I’ve had to request the “complimentary” handful of chips that followed with an eye roll. If I order online and don’t leave a tip, the portions are almost half the size as walk in. The cookies used to taste fresh now they are hard and feel days old. Sad to see one of my favorite spots go downhill.

Had to wait in line before ordering. Food was made quickly and workers nice. Being from Arizona, had higher hopes on Mexican food. For the price, we weren't too impressed. But again, service was great!

It's very similiar to Chilosos. Food was good, had a 10 minute wait at dinner time but the line moved quickly. Most people are doing take-out so it leaves plenty of indoor seating.

Neat speakeasy within a barbershop. Not exactly "secret" when the passcode is on the website, but still fun for sure. Our drinks were all solid and I enjoyed the whiskey options. It was incredibly dark inside when we went so I wouldn't recommend it for larger groups but honestly I wouldn't recommend any speakeasy experience for more than 4 people. Check it out!

Love this place. It’s dark and cozy and intimate. Craft cocktails. If you want quiet, and away from her Main Street crowd then this is for you. I was told it gets. Say before dinner at 5-6 and after - like around 7-7:30.

I’m so glad we discovered this speakeasy on our honeymoon! We not only found a super vibey spot in the middle of town, but I also discovered one of my new favorite drinks: The Steinbeck (Jack Rose)! My husband said the old fashioned was the best he’s ever had. Tons of drink selection and reasonable prices, especially for Durango.

Password Check to enter! Cozy spot with a dark speakeasy atmosphere. It's a fun, chill, hangout with 25 year-olds working the bar on the night we visited. The youngster at the bar was shocked when I ordered a double Jameson rocks. The second bartender had to correct him. Guess they don't normally carry it. For some reason they had it that day. Wife thought it was cute., interesting menu and fun decor. Pro tip: Password is posted on the website and in the bathroom. 😉 Pro tip 2: Take a souvenir metal straw home, they love that!. A great speakeasy - and we go to many. Reba described each drink in detail, down to the nuances of the liquor. Great concept. Cool vibe. Amazing drinks!

Great experience :) My boyfriend hasn't had his haircut in 5 years. I figured a beer and haircut didn't sound too bad & booked it. He said its the best haircut he's ever had! Called in an order for Birra Tacos. I am from Texas, so some friends around town told me to check out switchback. This is how it went... The call was answered in 2 rings by the bartender, I believe. My order was taken down in a fast and efficient fashion, and he was extremely polite. The tacos were as I ordered with no onions perfect. Upon reaching the location, the bartender helped me with my pick-up order again extremely fast. This was on a Saturday and it was very busy. Fast friendly service, and the tacos were very juicy with extra sauce to go. They even gave me a fee chips with my order. Highly recommend

Great place for casual eats! My partner and I were passing through Durango on our way to Pagosa Springs and stopped at Switchback for a bite to eat. We were seated on the patio pretty fast and our server was amazing! Super informative, attentive, and very kind. We ordered the loaded vegan fries and some frozen margaritas. My partner (being a little bit of a klutz) spilled his drink and the server jokingly gave him a hard time and replaced it for free. The drinks hit the spot on a hot day! The loaded fries had lots of flavor, came out piping hot, and were very filling (even when split by two). I’d definitely recommend anyone stop here for food and/or drinks, especially if you’re vegan/vegetarian.

Undoubtedly the greasiest and rather less tasteful food I have had in years. The food is buried in greasy fries that try to hide that taste with an over abundance over spices. One dish laced with greasy cheese was inedible. The absolute worst $50 I spent in a very long time. You know that 100%… I will never be going back.

Switchback is a modern take on Mexican food with a great bar, good food selection and good service. Located right on the main street in Durango, Switchback has an extensive menus of tacos and related Mexican dishes. I loved the three dip trio (you can choose three dips from a menu of five or six). The tacos were good if slightly small. The upside is you get three for $12 and that's good value for money. If you want a casual dinner, this is a great choice.

Edit 1/8/25: The vegan switch fries are back to normal, don't miss out! The food here is phenomenal and the service is some of the best Durango has to offer. Love their vegan options. You simply must have the vegan switch fries, they are out of this world.

The good: superb service! The bad: cocktails - colored syrup with ice, very little liquor, if any. The ugly: the food.... overcooked carne asada flank steak interred over a pyre of grease saturated Frisbo machine fries. Three dollar tacos: slivers of meat served on goopy corn tortillas that fall apart, best eaten with a spoon. For the price everything was very disappointing.

They got my order wrong, charged me for Items I did not recieve, and the cook was not open to requests. I was over charged and did not receive all of my food and I live 30 minutes from durango. Highly disappointed, I try to call back and 3 times the phone just rang and rang with no answer. Also when I went in there were no other customers or orders in the two people working were setting on their phones. No excuse to overcharge me and mess up my order, will not be returning as it looks like the ownership does nothing to rectify a negative experience from customers.

We went so I could take two guys for the 5# food challenge. It was advertised online. I called and confirmed it was still an active challenge confirming what I read. We get there the guy in front was nice but laughing bc he said the wall has no pics bc no one has ever won. I showed him the screen shot from their page and he laughed. At that point he could and should have said um no this is a lot bigger than the pic! And cleared it all up. So we wait. He brings out a huge aluminum pan, all of us are confused. That wasn't a 5# dish. It's more like 20#. Then he started the clock. This is at least 15# more than described online on their site. It was supposed to be $35 (per screen shot) if they failed. Nope they charged us $60 EACH. After talking to the guy and he laughing how it wasn't what was advertised I told him it was a false challenge and that it was unfair to anyone who wanted to try. He laughed agreeing it is way over the 5# challenge. He called his boss and a $25 gift card was given. This is not a food challenge that anyone should even bother with. This was supposed to be fun. Instead I came home with prob 50# of soggy nachos with toppings that no one will eat. He even acknowledged that they never updated the site to reflect the new deal, AFTER we were getting ready to leave. He said he would get someone on it. Almost $200 later, (had to bring food home for those who couldnt go), what a waste...

Always screw up my orders! They forgot cheese on both, my salad & my br California burrito! Like who does that? Mexican food with no cheese?? And I asked for grilled vegetables on my salad and they charged me for xtra meat and put raw green peppers & onions on my salad. Every time I think they won't make a mistake, because I rarely eat there & it's been awhile...Boom! They literally mess up every time. What a joke.

Mostly very good but don't order chips with cheese sauce..

I ordered food to go. One of the items I ordered was 3 rolled tacos with cheese and guacamole. There was no guacamole which may have been a good thing since my rolled tacos were just wrapped in paper. The cheese just peeled off with the paper.

Worst mexican food. Their entre are deceiving. I ordered a carne asada tostada and it was a joke!!! It was a fried flat corn tortilla with lettuce. I had to put tomatoes myself. DO NOT RECCOMEND THIS PLACE. No air conditioner either!!

My son and I came from New Mexico today to enjoy a little get away. We swam, we shopped, had fun. Someone in the mall suggested we try Machos because we were craving Mexican food. This place was amazing and the staff we're hard working and very nice. The food was so delicious and portions were great. We dined in and also noticed its kind of a hot spot, very busy. They stayed on top of every order I was impressed. The owner visited with his patrons, very cool. It's now our new spot in Durango. Thank you all. Will be back...

What a horrible experience today at this bar. We are down from Canada with friends who are from Durango. They sent us on our way to explore. We stopped in for a cold beer. The bartender wouldn’t make eye contact with us. We just waited patiently, watched him eat his food, chat to the lady at the bar. Finally my husband went up and ordered a couple of beers. He was asked to show ID, that’s fine, it’s funny when you’re in your 60’s, but no problem. Then he said the lady to, again no problem. He then said I need your passports……ummmm we don’t carry our passports we leave them safely at our summer home in Washington. He then refused us and told us nobody would serve us in this town. Very rude. Thankfully we found lots of pubs. Not one asked for ID. We were so excited to come here, and to have that as our first experience was a bit shocking. Just be kind, you don’t like Canadians we get it and we promise never to come back! Good job. Peace from Canada

The best pool in Durango and 5 star popcorn and they have drinks of the adult variety. They will get that adult drink to you quickly and best part is no children hanging out and they have karaoke as well. Maz is the coolest? Mabey Carlos? Yeah probably Carlos.

To start, the service is horrible. I walked in alone, sat down, and no one came up to me. They were not busy at this time. Finally I get someone to get me drink, but had to wait forever just to pay for the 1 drink. The 1 beer was 7 dollars, plus terrible service. So I didn't leave a tip. I was charged an extra 10 dollars. They gave themselves a 10 dollar tip. I emailed the bar and have yet to get this charge removed. I did not want to spend 17 dollars on 1 corona. I refuse to spend money there again.

Favorite bar in Durango, specifically when Carlos is working. The way he dances through the bar is electric. Never seen anyone move quite like him. Will be back as long as this black haired mystic temptress works there.

Classic cowboy bar, not a honky tonk. History drinks here. Nothing fancy, but solid. Durango Diner food available from next door. Great corner location for people watching in windows booth.

We saw Garrett Lebeau and Nick James at El Rancho Tavern. The venue was awesome, great staff and great show! A stay in Durango is incomplete without a visit to El Rancho Tavern!

I don't write reviews, this place pissed me off enough to go out of my way to do this, but here was my experience. I walked in with my girlfriend, sat down. No introduction from the bartender, no server. Sat down for 5 minutes, wondering when we're going to be acknowledged. We got up, took a look at the pizzas on display, wondering how we were going to order. The girl up front was busy at the computer and wouldn't acknowledge either of us despite her glaring at us like we are a problem she has to deal with. We asked for a menu, she pointed to where they were, we got it, sat back down. There was not a single acknowledgement of our existence from there forward. We got up and left, like we were never even there in the first place. This is place is memorable in that it is the worst customer service I've ever received from anywhere.

Got some pizzas to go. Walked in and had super quick friendly service and everything was made perfectly! The pizzas were delicious, especially after a day of adventuring! Highly suggest this location!

I was very impressed with this place. Service was good and being that we were from California on vacation, they helped us pick the perfect pizza. Green chile, bacon bits, hot honey, never had a pizza like that and we loved it. Good local beer selection. Clean. Overall a perfect score. Hopefully, we will be back in Durango and will return.

Came across this place while on vacation in Colorado. Some of the best pizza we have ever had! The crust had an amazing crunch and flavor and the toppings were top notch! And our mini poodle got to enjoy the meal with us on the patio! We will definitely make this a stop every time we pass through Durango!

Cashier needs point of sale training. Ordered some slices and she sold the same slices to the party behind us and told us they were now out of what we ordered first. Then couldn’t properly refund us. She told me “ then you do it then” when I mentioned that i’m familiar with toast and it does print a voided receipt. Making customers do their job doesn’t exactly create a place you want to eat from again.

One of top 5 best road pizzas I've had over the years. Pepperoni pizza cause we were starving. Delicious. And they use the little pepperoni that get all crunchy when cooked - love it!TV's on for sports, casual atmosphere, drink dispenser. Or counter. Fun place for couples, friends, family. Outside dining available.

Best bar in Durango hands down. They offer a diverse array of drinks paired with a variety of events throughout the week. The bartenders take their job seriously and are very friendly. As an out-of-towner I never feel like a tourist here. Wonderful place with a wonderful crowd. Props to Andrew for being a killer bartender. <3

We are on vacation and enjoyed our time in this bar, chatting with locals and the bar tender. The drinks were cheap and the music was great. It was nice to sit in the open windows looking out on to the street and to see the sights and sounds of downtown Durango. But it was the bartender who really made our visits enjoyable. I am sorry I didn't get his name but he's from Chicago and he was a really warm and friendly guy who made us feel relaxed and welcome. Our thanks to him.

Was my first time coming here and it was a great experience. The place was clean and the bartenders were fast at making drinks so we didn't have to stand in long lines. They played good dancing music also. It got pretty busy after 11pm and the people we met were very friendly, prices were also reasonable. I loved that they had an outside patio lit with disco and Christmas lights, it provided great atmosphere. Outside patio access also allowed for smoking if you are a smoker. We will definately be coming back on future trips.

Lawd! Thought new owner would have a bit more of a “new” outlook. Changing of tables and. Curtains. Awesome! But smoking or allowed of any type of smoking. Naaaa turn off. Smoking, smell of weed. Is a no go for me. Yea. Can we actually make a “change” time will tell. I’ve given this place many chances as a local. Candles burning with intimate booths great start but letting whomever inside is “ummm”

Great place! Music was a great addition and is the only place that I know of thag has a dance floor to boogie down.

My partner and I were in town for our anniversary. Going to places where we went on our first couple dates. We decided to checkout this place for late night fun together since this is the place his uncle goes to every other weekend. Great place, great music but the service not so much. It seems like regular and well known customers get greeted and served first. We were standing by this guy, obviously we were about to order but the bartender completely ignored us & went straight to a familiar face. She continued to served everyone all around us but us. Until she was done serving everyone she apologized. 🙃 We lost our vibe with this place and left. Thankfully a friend pulled through and were invited to another bar that had outstanding services & music.

The staff is incredibly nice and helpful. Could not rate food as I didn't eat anything (hence only 3 stars). The only disappointment was the band. As a musician myself, all I'll say is this: Higher volume DOES NOT equal better sound, time your instrument properly, and learn the tunes!. Unfortunately this is the only place left in town with live music, and my father and step mother like to dance. I'm in town visiting them, so that's where we went.

Was there on Saturday. I waited at the bar for over 35 minutes (I started counting well after I walked up to the bar and noticed what was happening) while the red headed female bartender ignored me and served everyone around me. I watched 3 sets of people cycle through at the bar top before I gave up and decided to go somewhere else. Wish I had done that a lot earlier to avoid wasting my time because the next place I went to was equally as packed with a friendlier bartender who could keep up and served me immediately. Was a frustrating experience, wouldn’t recommend at all.

My friend and I got banned for 2 years over mistaken identity (underage intoxication was their reasoning). We didn't even have time to defend ourselves before we were out the front door. If staff is going to watch over the facility, at least do it right and get your facts straight.

Live music with fun dancing: line, two step, and swing- I have a blast every time I go! It is truly a neat place for that authentic cowboy dancing experience. The only bummer is that it would be nice to could go outside for fresh air and not get choked out by smokers.

This is a Durango classic. Friday night DJ is awesome, mix of old and new country music. Fun “honky tonk” bar, service is excellent, beers are reasonably priced.

The short rib tacos were very tasty but small, good service. The restaurant was chilly which made it uncomfortable.

Very cool location and friendly staff! The down side to this place is it is a little expensive for the taste of their tacos (at least the happy hour tacos). The chicken and steak tacos are average. However, the fish tacos here are horrible. Me and my buddy both ordered one and had a really hard time finishing the fish taco we paid for:( change this and this place will be a hit!

We sat on the back patio and it was hot! We did get some cool margaritas quickly and the tacos were amazing. I had the Korean BBQ and steak fajita. My wife had the fish and said it was amazing too. My only complaint was the heat.

My favorite part is the fact that you get to choose your tacos in an alacarte fashion. Each taco is in between $3- $4. I ordered the bbq Korean pork taco, the southwest Philly taco, and the southwest fried chicken taco; all three were incredibly succulent, and the food presentation was a piece of art. The service was also quick and pleasant. The atmosphere was relaxing and enjoyable. I recommend this place to everyone!

DELICIOUS variety of street tacos with bright, interesting flavors. I loved the small portions (read: You don't have to stuff yourself every time you eat out, people!), the excellent drinks (especially the jalapeno mojito) and the friendly, attentive staff. I disagree with other reviewers: I think the prices are reasonable for Durango on Main Ave. Only downside: It's really loud when full due to the long-narrow acoustics of the building.

The tacos are very flavorful. I had the grilled steak taco and fish taco. They both taste amazing. The only downside is the size of the tacos. They are about half the size of normal tacos and they're $3 a piece. The chicharonnes are prepared on site, they're called "Cheech", the sauce is really good, but there is too much lime action going on on the cheech and in the sauce, if you like limes, they're good. Over all, the food quality is very good. Good light meal, perfect for lunch and apps for dinner, along with a buffet of cocktails, it's got a bar type atmosphere.

The Korean BBQ tacos were so amazing, I had to bring two new people here so I could have them again! The green chili dip appetizer is delicious, and so is the mint limeades! Definitely recommend!

A lot of potential largely ruined by a horrible layout of the space. Not fun getting hit in the head by ping pong balls while trying to play a timing/skill based game, especially when I was nowhere near the ping pong table. I could definitely spend more time here if they just put some more thought into what goes where on the floor.

The Garage, great staff and drinks! Full of fun games and people kinda like a bar would offer. Train hit my truck last time I tried to back my boat into that small doorway. Can never find my can of WD-40 or paint brushes and the DJ won't play my songs neither. I guess it's lots of pin ball, I thought they had pickle ball. Sick spot but no indoor parking I guess.

I like to go play pool and a few arcade games here every once in a while. $8 for a Coors kinda frustrates me though.
