Casa Fermín is a renowned restaurant in the capital, known for its elegant dining room and updated Asturian cuisine. Established in 1924, it is currently led by the third and fourth generations of the Martinez family. The restaurant holds two Repsol suns and was one of the pioneers in modernizing Asturian cuisine. It earned its first Michelin star in 1974, showcasing its longstanding culinary excellence.
We went for the Degustation Menu. 13 dishes. All being served very fast and cooked to a perfect condition. Gilda, the first starter, ice cream with relish and anchovy left us stunned - an explosion of tastes.

For a Londoner with bountiful access to Michelin / bib gourmand restaurants, this is a 7/10. My artichokes were overseasoned and the toffee tuna was so literal. The reduction would have been too sweet even in a dessert.
Emmanuel X — Google review
Another good find for quality Asturian cuisine. The 'cabrito confitado' is a great dish to enjoy. Best to arrive in a share drive. Friendly staff. Recommended

Superb food in a lovely dining area. We had an early lunch here before flying home and were made to feel very welcome despite being nearly an hour earlier than most other lunch diners. Ordered a couple of glasses of wine which were poured by the half so that the wine could stay cold. Jamón croquettes were wonderfully creamy - perhaps could have done with a fruit sauce for a bit of contrast but this is a mild criticism. Mains were superb - solomillo lovely and juicy and the suckling pig had a wonderful crunchy top.

Excellent - we were given the Maridaje Premium menu as a present - superb - every course imaginative & delicious & the accompanying wines perfect. Great service - Maria was lovely, explaining each dish. A pleasant ambiente & a great experience all round - highly recommended.

This restaurant in Oviedo, Asturias, mentioned in the Michelin guide, is well deserved of a Michelin star. Starting with a lovely melon gazpacho, followed by an excellent Caviar with egg, and for the main entree a steak tartare with jalapeño and mustard ice creams. Then, to sweeten the palate, a typical dessert of my hometown, a Casadiella, a fried wheat pastry in Anisette filled with toasted walnuts and covered with white sugar. Finally, a nice brandy, Cardenal Mendoza, to end the evening. Awesome!!!!!
Vincent G — Google review
We tried the whole “Menú Degustación” and it was amazing, especially the ajoblanco and the sardinas. The entire experience was stellar and we even tried food never eaten before like the “Tendon de ternera”. The local white wine recommended by the dining room manager was perfect for the Menú. Service was impeccable and even Chef Luis Alberto Martinez came to say hi at the end of the evening. The restaurant inside is very nice and very quiet. We had one of our best dinners ever and a very pleasant time. I would definitely recommend it to anybody visiting Oviedo. Last but not least, prices were more than reasonable!

Every dish we tried was delicious and nicely plated. The service was very friendly and attentive and they have great wines to choose from. We lamented that we weren’t hungry enough to go for the tasting menu but will definitely be back to try it!

Spanish restaurant
Restaurante La Corte de Pelayo is a sophisticated and airy eatery located near Campo de San Francisco park. It is known for its traditional meat and seafood entrees, as well as a robust wine list. One of their renowned dishes is the hearty cachopos, which are huge veal fillets layered with ham and cheese, coated in bread crumbs, and deep fried.
We went there for a lunch without a reservation. The service was fast and professional. The food was exceptional. The portions were huge - octopus and Fabada were listed as starters. We would be satisfied with them as main dishes. We also tried fish and steak. Steak was supposed to be medium but was medium rare, and the potatoes weren’t good. I guess I should have selected a fish or more traditional dish. Otherwise everything was perfect. We paid 100€ excl. tip which was a bit expensive but worth it. Next time, we would go only with the starters or shared one main dish as we were not able to finish all the food. The bathroom was a bit dirty.

Fantastic food, great quantity and quality, nice selection of tasty local wines. Not cheap but definitely worth the price.

Fantastic restaurant! Location, service, and amazing food. Celebrating our 40th wedding anniversary, we traveled from Miami to experience the beauty of Spain. Oviedo is a definite place to visit, and this restaurant is a MUST!! My husband had the Fabada, WOWWWWWWWWW.

The solomillo was perfectly cooked, the gamba roja fresh and juicy, and the croquetas jamón ibérico rich and creamy. The pescado rape was excellently prepareda great view of Calle Fruela, especially lively on America Day in Asturias 19 of September

La corte de Pelayo is a fantastic restaurant. The staff is very friendly and welcoming as the restaurant decoration and views. The food is superb! We had Fabada asturiana and alcachofra as entries and it was the most amazing fabada we have ever eaten. For the main course we choose cachopo, and what a wonderful meal it was. Could not recommend you more!
William M — Google review
Incredible Cachopo. Amazing texture and full of flavors. Their recipe from 1947 is with no doubts the best I have in Asturias. 1KG of food. Enough to share.
Alejandro S — Google review
The amount of the attention from the waiters is fantastic. We tried the rib cooked in low temperatures, cachopo (bot accompanied with amazing mashed potatoes) salad with langostines and mushrooms with foie and egg yolk. The food was excellent, the rib was falling apart and the crust is incredible. The cachopo is the best we tried so far: juicy, perfectly seasoned, soft and crunchy on the outside! The dessert plate was good (the apple pie and the cherry jam on top of the cheesecake were awesome), but it lacked any ice cream, which is interesting to try. All in all - we definitely will be back. The price is a bit on the higher side, but it all is worth it.

Cider bar
Spanish restaurant
ALTERNA Sidrería Oviedo is a vibrant and modern cider bar and restaurant that beautifully blends casual dining with traditional Asturian cuisine. Renowned for its warm atmosphere and attentive service, this spot is a must-visit in Oviedo. The menu boasts an array of delectable options, but the standout dish is undoubtedly the cachopo—often shared among friends.
My boyfriend brought me here, as he is local, to try the traditional food of the place. And honestly, I was impressed by the food quality and quantity! The portions are gigantic, so be aware of this and ask the waiter there. I loved croquetas de jamon, I think it’s one of my fav dishes of Spain, chicken with the cheese sauce was incredible as well (especially cheese). Important to mention, that we got the order in about 4 mins, that’s impressive speed. Prices r ok, but keep in mind that it’s better to book the table for the dinner, as they r always full of people! Thank you for the nice evening, we will come back again:)
Kateryna M — Google review
Very good food for fair price. Be aware, there is soooooooo much food for one person. :) If you are not used to eat like Spanish people (that means 3 serve menu including dessert), you will have full stomach after 1 dish. :) And many thanks to "our" waitress Nely with translating and patience. ♥️🇪🇸
Linda H — Google review
Try the chuleta! We got a beautiful cut that the server actually brought to the table to show us before the kitchen prepared it. Everything was cooked to perfection and we were even given a free portion of pate so we wouldn’t go hungry while the chuleta cooked. It was unexpected but great!

The restaurant has modern decor which is lovely. The menu was in Spanish and Mario, the waiter noticed I was struggling to understand the menu. He spoke some English so offered to provide assistance in explaining the menu. He was patient and suggested a dish based on my food preference and great red wine. He made the dining experience stress free and pleasant. The meat was cooked to perfection. The meat was slight sinewy but overall good quality. Worth a visit.

Sidrería Tierra Astur Parrilla is a well-known restaurant located in Oviedo, Asturias. It is part of the popular Tierra Astur group, offering a unique dining experience with a focus on local products and traditional cuisine. The establishment consists of two sections: a grill featuring local specialties and a restaurant that offers an extensive menu showcasing the same regional products.
Great place! We had some Asturian stew and a lot of sidra. The waiters serve it the traditional way here and the waiter we had was very attentive and kind.
Diego F — Google review
Frankly a bit disappointed with the food from the establishment. The cachopo was really tough to eat, as were the lamb chops. It's a busy festive restaurant but I guess not for us.
DANNY L — Google review
We had to wait for a bit to get a person to take us to a table. But the food was great, the service was fast/efficient, and the vibe of the restaurant is very classy and beautiful. I do recommend for people to share some of this plates that are big and filling for two to three people.
Nicole F — Google review
Atmosphere is great. Location is in very busy pedestrian area. Staff seemed uninterested when we approached to ask if there is a free table on the terrace. We have found it ourselves few minutes later when other guests left. Food is good, but to be honest I have expected more regarding the prices and reviews.
Filip — Google review
I usually try to avoid touristy spots, but this time I was really hungry and ended up here. I asked the waitress for a recommendation and went with the meat she suggested which is in the photo. The food arrived fairly quickly, but unfortunately it was a letdown. The fries were greasy and tasted like they’d been fried twice in old oil. The meat was rubbery and totally flavorless. The cider was nothing special either, though the way they pour it is kind of fun to watch. Wouldn’t recommend this restaurant, there are much better places just a few blocks away from the main street.
Tatiana B — Google review
We tried the local specialties, but the size of the "Gran cachopo vaca" was too big 🥶🤪
Wei C — Google review
The interior is strange in this bar/restaurant. It has design, but has also a touristic vibe. The menu is a complete photo album. But, the food is excellent and is reasonably priced. Drinking is cheap. Kitchen is still open, when al restaurants in the neigborhood are closed
Emiel R — Google review
The atmosphere was really nice and cool looking. The food however was disappointing, specifically Las Costillas Asadas, that my dad got. Given the cut of the meat we were assuming it was going to be a lot juicier, but it was extremely dry that he couldn’t finish it. As a starter we got the Huevos Rotos with the chorizo which was really good. However, my plate ( los escalopines de ternera ) never came, even though they had taken my order but never put it in, so we decided to just remove that from the order and leave. I would like to add that this is specifically just our poor luck, but also something to keep in mind.

They have a variety of cachopos, named after the year which each has gotten an award or something. We tried the combination of everything and it was superb! The cheesecake was a bit heavy in texture but the rest are worth it.

Got the Cachopo, was reasonably priced as it was huge and was tasty. The cider was delicious and came with the added novelty of being able to self serve yourself the bottle. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Overall a great experience.
Carl B — Google review
The cachopo was delicious and it's really not something either me or my boyfriend would normally go for, but when in Rome... We shared one because it is HUGE and a salad. The atmosfere was relaxed and service unpretentious and polite. The kitchen is open the entire day and we were welcome to the terrace with out dog which is very much appreciated.

This is truly an amazing restaurant. The food is incredibly good, very regionally authentic and great twist on vegetarian. The staff are so friendly and helpful. Plenty of room for wheel chair access. Unique cider experience too. A wonderful way to spend the end of a beautiful autumn day in Oviedo.

Amazing place with local and very traditional cousine, found by chance on our way and even better than places in the city centre. Roberto with his energy helped us in choosing the best cachopo (they have a long list and even a vegetaria variation extremely tasty!!). Definitely recommend!!

We wanted to try something typical from this region and it was amazing choice. The place is very authentic and service ? Incredible positive, friendly and our waiter was taking care of us all the time even thought she had so many tables. Food was very traditional and delicious. Fully recommended!

Arrocería La Genuina de Cimadevilla, located in the heart of the old town, is a casual venue that offers a variety of rice dishes and tapas. The restaurant specializes in moist and flavorful rice dishes cooked with ingredients such as baby squid, Iberian pork, lobster, and foie gras. In addition to their signature rice dishes, they also serve fideuà (short noodles) and an array of classic tapas and larger sized dishes.
Great food with amazing service. We tried their seafood Paella and it was pretty good with generous portion size. Also, the waiter went above and beyond to explain the food/drink menu even though he doesn't speak a single English word!
Animesh D — Google review
Everything was perfectly cooked but we both found the sweet and savoury combination of ingredients didn’t work. It was Sunday night and the waiters were evidently exhausted but the service as efficient and the restaurant has a nice atmosphere. There is lively bar area to enjoy a draft beer before eating.

We just walked in around ‘lunch’ time. We ended up with heavenly tapas, perfect wine and a postre from heaven. The perfect setting in a historical town, tranquilo and a place for everyone; the 80 year old neighbour sits along the tourists (me😁) and enjoys the drinks and a tapa. Perfect food and service. !Hasta luego!

Great little bar restaurant! Wine list is superb. The waiters are outstanding. The food was pretty good.
Steve C — Google review
We ordered croquetas, two types of rice (lobster and jamon paellas), a wine and two deserts with coffees. We were exploring the city for the second time and decided to stop nearby given it’s a rice house and we wished to taste the paella. We ordered the croquetas and stated we wanted 6 as we were a group of 4 but some of us do not eat as much. Same with the paella, we chose two types and mentioned it was to share since we do not like to fill ourselves. The waiter confirmed the order and came in with 10 croquetas instead of 6. We asked him to repair the mishap as we really didn’t want to eat more and it was quite a difference in the price. From that point onward we received attitude for our service. The paella came and I tried the lobster (just to try as I myself am not too much of a sea food lover). Asked for a different plate as I did not enjoy the taste of it (my opinion, other members of the table enjoyed it) and proceeded to request a new plate so I could eat the jamon paella without mixing the flavours. That request was met with the waiter shaking his head whilst grabbing me a new plate. When asking for the bill, we were negatively surprised that all paellas were doubled in price in their description and such was never communicated with us. We genuinely thought we were eating the normal size paellas. The menu also stated that the paellas were for 2 people so that was our math (2 paellas = 4 people). The waiter proceeded to inform that it was not possible as the described price on the menu was for one paella but the minimum amount of each item was 2 (always in pairs, so we couldn’t even order 3 for example…) So if the minimum amount per item is 2 but you can never order 1 item only, then the price in display it’s misleading and the information passed down is plainly wrong. We felt mistreated, misinformed and taken advantage of. Although the food is indeed good, the surprises and service received do not amount to a good experience.
Diogo S — Google review
We had tuna salad with mango and asparagus which was enough for 2 as a starter and was delicious. We had the pasta noodles (Fideua) with Octopus and scallops which was also excellent. Hazelnut ice cream good. Good service, good food, nice room. Monday night.

We visited the restaurant in August 2020 (COVID-19 happening) and the restaurant managed all the health protocols very well. The best restaurant characteristics are: 1) Menu’s offering: there are 2/3 menus with a fantastic relationship between price and quality. 2) Food quality: the food is amazing: freshness, amount and preparation process. 3) Service: the waiters personality and predisposition is very good. They are in all the details. I’m sharing some photographs for you to have an idea of the menu food quality and amounts (I’m not including 2 desserts, bottle of water and bottle of wine; also included in the menu).

Asturian restaurant
Bar & grill
La Finca Sidrería Agrobar is a modern yet traditional Asturian cider bar and restaurant, offering classic dishes and tapas made with 100% Asturian products. The decor combines contemporary elements with wooden cider barrels and farming equipment. The menu features gluten-free, lactose-free, and vegetarian options alongside traditional favorites like creamy rice with pitu de pedreru and fabada asturiana.
Bustling on a Saturday night - reservation needed. Portions generous and the traditional Asturian food was tasty. Cheeseboards offered a good choice (goats and sheep cheese along with two blue cheeses and quince jelly). The wild boar with chestnut puree was a great combination. The torrajo (labelled as French Toast?!?) as dessert was reminiscent in taste of bread and butter pudding: the accompanying hazelnut ice-cream was divine. Cider pouring from a height was iconic and done with serious stares. Eating was slowed down a bit by what felt like the whole restaurant staff emerging to watch replays of Real Madrid goals in the Champion League final - but the enthusiasm and apologies were fine!

Good food, obliging service in Cider Street in Oviedo.

It’s along Gascona street so we appreciate getting a seat indoors. We called in advance for the dinner reservation. The chipirones 🦑 was absolutely good! The susurro del cerdo was reminiscent of a Filipino favorite dish “sisig” — we enjoyed the meal a lot. :) Cerdo + squid + 2 bottles of sidra + agua con gas = 51,60€
Sheena P — Google review
Nice terrace, very friendly staff. In a bustling street amidst many bars and restaurants.
Robbus B — Google review
Great place to eat at Calle Gascona (Bulevar de la Sidra), specially if you stay outdoors at the Terraza surronded by Sidra green bottles professionally opened all the time by the experient Camareros. We tried the typical Huevos Rotos con sabadiego (sabadiego is a typical smoked sausage from Asturias) 👍... and the traditional Cachopo (2 steaks with Asturian Queso Cabrales and Jamon Iberico in the middle) 👌. The Price worths the Quality and quantity but I recommend just the Cachopo for 2 people.
Porto E — Google review
The staff are friendly and welcoming to customers. This place prepares authentic Asturian cuisine using locally sourced ingredients. The Cachopo antiguo, a traditional version of the hearty dish, is a must-try. But don’t forget to finish your meal with the Torrija asada, a roasted French toast served with ice cream—an unforgettable dessert experience!
Seokjin H — Google review
Avoid if you are not a local!!!! We speak enough Spanish to get by, but for any foreigner hoping for a warm Asturian experience, this is the worst place on all of 'Cider Street'. From the moment we walked in, we were made to feel like an inconvenience. Despite the restaurant having plenty of free tables, we were ushered straight to the very back, next to the toilets, without a single word of welcome. The service throughout was just as bad. At no point did any of the waiters smile or make any effort to assist us. When we mentioned that we might order more food later, the waiter snapped back, “You need to make sure you leave by 10,” even though it was only 8:30. Throughout the hour, our cider glasses sat empty as staff repeatedly walked past, deliberately ignoring us. Had the experience been better, we would have happily spent another €50 on more food and drink—but instead, we took that business across the road to Sidrería Tierra Astur Gascona, where we were welcomed with smiles and treated with genuine hospitality. The difference was night and day. A quick comment on the food we did have: Croquettes: 7/10 – nothing to complain about here. Patatas bravas/alioli: 4/10 – very few potatoes (only 8), and they were exceptionally salty. Bread: Not served with any butter or olive oil, though the latter was provided upon request. Overall, if you’re reading this as someone from outside Oviedo, please take your business elsewhere on the street and enjoy a far better night than we had.

Restaurante El Fartuquin is a historic family restaurant located in the heart of Oviedo, offering a cozy ambiance with wooden beams and stone walls. The menu features authentic Asturian gastronomy, including Spanish bean stew, grilled prawns, octopus cooked with onions, and sirloin fillet cooked in cider. Specialties like fabada, homemade mincemeat with potatoes, and corn cakes are also available.
We heard this region is famous for its beans and cider, and this restaurant came up top of the list. We checked out the premises, and liked the "retro" atmosphere. We decided to take a chance and went in for our dinner. Service was very prompt and efficient. The food was delicious, but we were very disappointed with the "unadulterated" cider :-)! It's not the restaurant's fault - just us not being used to the taste of pure, original cider. The waiters seemed to enjoy their showmanship in pouring the cider from 3-foot above and at looking at the glass when they poured. So, besides the good food, you get a free show as well. Highly recommended!!

Restaurant with good local food. The stuffed cabbage was delicious with the accompanied bell pepper sauce. We tried the scallops and mussels and they were both fresh and tasty. The cachopo is huge and oozing with cheese. We ordered a bottle of cider, but the waiter did not doing the traditional high pour method for us.

What a phenomenal experience. The servers were so friendly and the food was amazing including the fabada. Now we know why so many famous people visit this establishment, Viva España

Visiting from the U.S., we stumbled upon this unpretentious local restaurant that’s been quietly perfecting its craft for 25 years—and what a find. The food was honest, flavorful, and deeply satisfying. Standouts included the filete de solomillo and the cachopo. The wine was excellent, but the real highlight of the night was Jesus, our waiter. Warm, sharp, and genuinely thoughtful, he guided us through the menu with confidence—making fantastic suggestions and, even better, steering us away from over-ordering. He told us plainly, “That’s too much food,” and he was absolutely right. It’s rare to find service this intuitive and unpretentious. Jesus made the meal feel less like dining out and more like being taken care of by a friend who knows exactly what you’ll love. If you’re in Oviedo, don’t miss this spot—and hope that Jesus is working that night.

Authentic restaurant serving traditional Asturian food where you can see lots of regulars coming in for lunch. The food is very good and portions are generous. They have a daily set menu as well for 23€.

Just my type of place. Down home Asturian cooking. Delicious food, quick service, family ambiance. Was the only non-Spaniard in the restaurant, so those not willing to have a real Spanish experience may want to go elsewhere. I'll be back. Yum!
Daniel P — Google review
Had high hopes for this restaurant but maybe the fact there were a lot of free tables when elsewhere in Oveido the restaurants were very busy should have told me something. My wife and I ordered fish dishes and unfortunately they were the most bland dishes we have had. We won't be returning tomorrow evening. The wine was good though.

Best restaurant in Oviedo! ❤️ entirely gluten free and the best meal I’ve had in town. Outstanding service, a quintessential stop in town.

Restaurante Sidrería El Ferroviario is a popular spot among locals, known for its delicious pollo ajillo and croquettes de jamón Serrano. The restaurant offers a fun and theatrical experience with waiter-poured sidre, making it a hit among food enthusiasts. It's advisable to book in advance, especially on weekends due to its popularity. The place is renowned for serving local cider and offers great food at reasonable prices.
I recommend coming here for the complete Asturian cider experience. This is because it serves at least 3 traditional ciders each from the 4 Asturian regions (Siero, Nava, Gijon, Villaviciosa). This is shown on boards next to the bar. It is also worth noting that the traditional way to serve Asturian cider is by the bottle (you can’t just have a glass), but the prices are so reasonable it doesn’t matter. You can always share with the next table. The servers are also more than happy to pour in the special Asturian way if you are sat at the bar. The two times I went, I had some tasty complimentary bar snacks brought to me (crisps and fried chicken). Some of the staff’s English isn’t 100%, but don’t be put off. The level of customer service is exceptional and I was allowed to take back the corks of the ciders I’d tried. As for the restaurant, I did not try it, but they have a modern take on Asturian classics and some “fusion” type dishes like duck tataki and cochinita pibil, which I’d have loved to try had I more time/meals in Oviedo. Bear in mind like most N.Spanish restaurants, dinner service starts from 20:00 sharp, no earlier.

Would definitely come back. The service was outstanding and the food couldn't be better. The place felt crowded but so do all the other restaurants in the area. Anyways, a manager came and made sure we were comfortable and apologized for the crammed room. We were actually pretty comfortable. As for the food, the waiter guided us and made the right recommendations. We ordered a ventresca de bacalao and a fabada, for two people it was the right amount. We also tried the sidra, which they pour as pros, it's so cool to see how they do it. And a cheesecake to happily end our experience. All 3 dishes were perfectly made, even though the bacalao was fried, and the fabada is not a light dish either, we didn't feel as we ate as much. It was just great. We paid around 55€ for all the food and drinks.
MeiLing C — Google review
We went for cider tasting. Walked straight to the back bar - you have a choice dry or sweet. We went dry at 6.5% alcohol- very tasty!!! And for 7€ for 2 bottles, well worth it!

The sidra here is amazing and the cachopo was delicious and got a huge portion. The food also came out very fast. Very traditional and not too touristy; highly recommend!
Sarah W — Google review
We had quite a few ciders here and their pouring was top notch. Awesome experience, perfectly poured cider, fully aerated and cloudy. Great service and atmosphere.

A pleasant dining experience at El Ferroviario. The food was enjoyable and well-prepared, and the staff truly stood out with their warmth and attentive service. A solid spot for a relaxed and satisfying meal."

Only popped in for a quick renowned sidra! They serve in a bottle. It is only 3.5 euros and I was shocked that it is super cheap lol. I enjoyed the ambiance !
Mirin K — Google review
The dessert “Natillas de avellana with chocolate mousse” was really outstanding. Especially for bitter chocolate lovers. It is not the cheapest place, but still, I would recommend it. I had two vegetarian meals- like all Spain, doesn’t have the biggest variety but still has some meals to offer. Friendly staff and delicious mousse!

This is an amazing restaurant! Beautiful location and ambiance, expert and friendly people, and amazing food. We travel a lot, and this restaurant stands out!

It's a really lovely restaurant with friendly, very efficient staff and delicious food. Excellent all round. The views are amazing.
Carol F — Google review
Very nice restaurant and the view of the valley is totally worthy. However, the food was very disappointing: bland and insipid floury cod, and boring-extremely-expensive seafood. Better to take a coffee in another place. In general, this place is overrated and ridiculous price/quality. Finally, no baby changer... Just disappointing.
Hector A — Google review
Why only 3 stars? Well, the food is good (but unimaginative), the restaurant itself (if you don't look up) is nice, but the food preparation and presentation is only adequate. For the pretensions and the price, one should expect more; however, it shows that its a family-owned place which can trade on its history and position and (they think) doesn't need to try. Shame, because it ought to be special. We visited for dinner, which was a mistake; the huge windows must make the view by day wonderful. Ay night they act as mirrors, reflecting the cavernous interior - and almost empty on Friday night (of course the pandemic didn't help). Look up to the high roof and you realise that it's built like a warehouse. I'm sure that when it's very busy and in daylight it's good; but if you see the vast car park empty, turn around and go down to the city where there are better options.

Tablas del Campillín is a down-to-earth restaurant in Oviedo, known for serving some of the best cachopo in the area. Cachopo is a traditional dish consisting of two veal fillets with ham and cheese in the middle, breaded and fried, although variations can include fish, chicken, or vegetables. The restaurant also offers vegetarian options and other classic plates. It has received numerous awards for its cachopo and holds a TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence.
Mady was our waitress and she was great. She was attentive and made sure we were taking care of. After having lived in Oviedo for over a year, we have tried a lot of cachopos and this one was a standout. Amazing! Highly recommend. We ordered a half and half order of croquetas of cabrales / apple with raisins and pistachios; some of the best croquetas I have tried. Then the cachopos: the miner cachopo and the champion cachopo. Both incredible.
Baxter H — Google review
We stopped for prosciutto, cheese and wine and didn't regret it. Very pleasant interior too.
Damir R — Google review
Looked at reviews before going but cachopo over cooked and very dry. Cut into it and no cheese becase it was over cooked. Dont think we got the same service because we were scottish to be honest...cold croquetas...asked for water never got it...sure the waiter was only interested in his own image than his customers...wont be back
David T — Google review
Really lovely restaurant! First of all, the staff is so nice. But most importantly the Pote Asturiano is incredible! We thoroughly enjoyed our lunch and definitely recommend this spot to others.
Paige B — Google review
The food was very good. The cachopo was amazing. We also took a vegan dish with soy protein, which was very good. The problem was the time we spent waiting. We waited for too long, like more than 1h, and we booked it in advance. My advice is, if you have no problem with the waiting time, it is a good place coz the food is very good.
Alain G — Google review
Very tasty award winning cachopo at this restaurant, we shared one as they are massive. The croquettes were also very good as was the service from Montse
Tony — Google review
Mady was our waitress and gave us excellent service. The food was astounding, the best quality on Asturias gastronomy and worth every penny. We shared a pote asturiano, fabada asturiana and cachopo (cabrales cheese version), a snapshot of Asturias traditional cuisine.
Lopez E — Google review
This place lives up to having the best cachopo in Asturias. It was well made and tasted delicious. The downside for us was we had to sit on the patio in the cold, which I understand so I’m not sad about that, we just wish the heaters were dispersed through the patio. Would recommend and come back.

Restaurante Casa Chema, located in Oviedo, is a renowned establishment known for its award-winning Asturian fabada. The restaurant offers traditional Asturian cuisine at its best and is a great place to experience typical dishes such as the fabada and cachopo. In addition to their meat-based specialties, Casa Chema also offers a vegan menu with delicious options like vegan fabada. The restaurant provides stunning views of Oviedo from its terrace and boasts professional and friendly service.
Amazing restaurant for trying Asturian cuisine. Service and atmosphere were both top-notch, and of course the food was delicious. Best Fabada I have ever had. The dish is so simple but so good. The restaurant is a little bit outside of Oviedo but well worth the short drive. The scenery is stunning too.

I heard about Casa Chema a couple of years ago and added it as a stop during this visit to Spain. First, let me say it was worth the journey from the United States all the way to Oviedo for a fantastic meal. It began with warm greetings from the two waiters. Next, a great table with a view down into the green valley. Then came an Asturian cheese plate, asparagus, and very pleasant bottle of wine. At last, the fabada Asturiana! Yes, it was delicious and perfectly prepared. The fabada Asturiana here deserves all the awards it has received. Took my time enjoying every spoonful. Finally, ice-cream and more for desert. Waiters performed every task with flawless precision. Given the high quality of the food and large portions, the price is a good value. I will return to this restaurant every time I am within 100 miles because it is worth it!

Wonderful experience. The food was delicious, it's so nice to have amazing and traditional vegan options. The staff was very sweet, we absolutely recommend this restaurant!

This is a great place to taste typical Asturian cuisine. I had Fabada and in my opinion it is very good. The restaurant has good views of Oviedo. It is not cheap (we paid 50€ per head) but it is the typical place where I'd be very happy to bring friends from outside of Asturias to get a sense of the typical Asturian food and atmosphere.

UTTERLY FANTASTIC ASTURIAN RESTAURANT. Casa Chema is renowned for their award-winning fabada. One portion of fabada is enough for two people and best combined with one or two starters. We had the "ensaladilla rusa" (half portion) and the "zamburiñas". Both were amazing—and so will probably be any dish you decide to order. In short, Casa Chema is traditional Asturian cuisine at its best.
