Paignton Zoo Environmental Park, located in Devon, is a thrilling visitor attraction spread across 80 acres. It houses over 2,500 animals from various habitats such as the savannah, wetlands, and tropical forests. Visitors can get up close to rare species and learn about the zoo's conservation efforts. The park offers a unique Jungle Express train ride and play areas for children. It's an ideal destination for families to spend an entire day exploring and experiencing wildlife wonders from around the world.
Me and my family really enjoyed our day here. Definitely enough animals to make a day out for the family. My kids loved the seeing all the animals but the giraffes, crocodiles and monkey's definitely stood out for us. Maps need updating for toilets as we found some in a different area than listed. Enjoyed the play areas, food areas and a little win a teddy section. Also enjoyed a lovely icecream. Would recommend!

Visited here midweek during the late August bank holiday break in Paignton. We booked in advanced and got a slight discount was around £60 odd pounds for a family of 4 (2 adults, 2 children). The site is huge and is a lot of up and down hill so wear comfortable shoes and prepare to walk. There are loads of animals, cafes, play areas for kids to enjoy and they really had a blast. We were tired by the end but was a great family day out, would recommend you visit here if you in or near to Paignton.

A great zoo with a large verity of animals a few of which wasn’t out for you to see but it wasn’t a massive issue. You can see some of the animals quite close up like the orangutans, lions, cheetahs, baboons etc. There is a lot of inclines if you’re someone with mobility issues you may struggle but it is well worth the money you pay to get in. There is a lot of tree coverage so you’re not baking in the sun while walking around. Would definitely recommend

Amazing zoo with fantastic staff. My 2 daughters ages 8 and 13 recently had a junior zoo keeper experience and they loved every minute of it. Jake, their experience guide was extremely knowledgeable, patient, kind and kept the girls engrossed for hours! Thank you Jake for a wonderful experience for the whole family!

We went on a cold damp drizzly day, so some animals weren't outside to see. Im disabled on a mobility scooter. Most of the park is accessible and robust scooters can be hired at the zoo. We were given a map and advised on the best route for mobility scooters. We ate food in the resaraunt. Food was good quality. The only fault was tables weren't cleaned so quickly so hard finding a clean table. We only had half a day here, so we zoomed round. On a nicer day and a leisurely stroll round, you coukd easily spend a whole day here. Animals get fed at certain times, so if you wish to see this, ask at entrance the timings, then you can adjust your route accordingly. We were particularly fascinated with the sloths. Never seen one in real life before, they are fun to watch. I would reccomend a visit, help support this lovely zoo to stay open.

A great day out, just enough to cover in an afternoon, with not too far between each area. A lovely range of animals of all kinds with good size enclosures for them. Lots of information available at each area. Food and drink onsite is great with a number of choices available. We stopped into the cafe area as the other ones around the zoo are closed out of high season.
Michelle F — Google review
We visited the zoo for my son’s 9th birthday and for an extra special treat we had arranged for him and his sister to do the giant tortoise experience. The zoo is clean and generally well maintained and the animals all seem content and we’re all out and about today. Their enclosures are natural and spacious with plenty of enrichment provided. The giant tortoise experience was great! My son loves them and wants to be a zoo keeper, so this was the perfect birthday treat! The keeper who led the experience, Jake, was brilliant! He was patient and relaxed and easy to talk to, he answered all the questions we had and provided lots of information to the children about the tortoises and the other animals he cares for. He was friendly and polite and really helped make the experience memorable, fun and informative, thank you! All the staff today were so helpful, from Jake to the welcoming staff at the entrance and even the staff in the restaurants and takeaway huts were great! We had a great day and my son said it’s been his best birthday yet, we love Paignton zoo anyway and have been many times before but today was really special, thank you!
Mark B — Google review
The zoo is very large and it's easy to get lost, so I recommend bringing a pen to mark your location on the map you get at the entrance. Sometimes you need to spend more time seeing a particular animal because they're hidden in the bushes or in their huts. The terrain varies, and you often have to walk up or down a hill, so you'll have to take a few steps here, which I think is a plus. There are a lot of animals, but not all of them are necessarily 100% different. 😀😀

Nestled in the picturesque Devonshire countryside, Crealy Theme Park & Resort is a top choice for families seeking an action-packed getaway. The park offers over 60 rides and attractions, including an indoor animal kingdom and adventure play areas. Families can choose from a range of accommodations, from caravans to lodges with hot tubs. With discounted access to the theme park, guests can enjoy live entertainment shows, animal experiences, and keeper interactions.
First ever visit to Crealy, what a fab place. Even though the weather in the morning was a mix of torrential rain and sun and we were skeptical of how successful the day would be, there was so much to do to suit all weathers and the kids X2 (and us adults x4) had he best time. Facilities were amazing, everything was very clean and tidy and rides are clearly well maintained. There were multiple different options for food and the pizzas and jackets potatos were delicious. We had the best day and will definitely be back again! Thank you for giving us an amazing family day out.

We took our three Grandsons, for Halloween experience . The weather was a bit chilly, so we did outdoor rides first. The twister, which was the main ride, they all wanted to go on, was closed. During the day, we thought it may reopen, but no. Very disappointed. Also the pirate ship and the other, similar ride, was also closed. It was not raining, as we thought, that may be why they weren't going. Later in the day, they did open, and we were able to go on. They all enjoyed the indoor play area. It was so busy, it took half an hour to get a seat. Could, definitely do with more seating. All in all, we all had a lovely day. Haunted house was fun. A free pumpkin on the way out, was a nice treat too. Would definitely recommend, for all ages.

The park has a wide range of activities and rides offering a lovely day out with our granddaughter. Helpful friendly staff and the Halloween Trick or Treat Trail added to the fun. There are plenty of covered areas if the weather takes a wet turn and a number of cafe/restaurants for a break. Food is on the expensive side but there's a reasonable selection and you can always take a picnic. I'm sure we'll be back with the grandchildren as there's plenty to do in a lovely safe and fun environment, that's easy to get to from the M5.

Arrived yesterday with my daughter and her two friends. We queued up on the log flume for around 45mins to then be rejected as they all needed an adult to ride on with them. Only three could ride this ride meaning I had to leave one child out. We have always been to crealy with no problem to fit four on the ride. The weather was great just a little tad cold. I raised this issue with a member of the team and told me nothing could be done about this. As of Halloween I paid high prices to enter the park and buy food which I feel this was not acceptable. The food needs improving for the amount of money you spend too. Apart from this we had a great day, but I think the money we spend was not worth the experience on this occasion.
Samuel F — Google review
We did the Crealy Halloween event, it was clearly very busy. We arrived just before 10am and people were already in the park on rides so we knew we were in for some big queues. What we were unaware of were the extent of these massive queues. Over an hour for maximus, 40 mins for one scare maze, a hour for the scarecrow scare maze. Twister was on and off most of the day with at least a hour of queues. I have never seen it so busy and we usually come during the summer holidays. The scarecrow maze was a great idea but the amount of people going through at once really ruined the experience for us as the family infront got all the jump scares and we could see it all coming. Very underwhelmed with the younger children’s maze with 2 moving witches and some glow in the dark paint. The real issue came leaving the car park, over an hour we didn’t even move an inch it was pure chaos and staff were not interested at all in helping. Lots of the smaller rides indoors weren’t working, the floors in sooty land were sticky and not clean at all. We couldn’t put our one year old down as there was food that hadn’t been cleaned up. The larger soft play was also chaos, there were so many children in there it became quite unsafe - do you even have a limit on numbers in there ? Even the small soft play in the bit next door was so busy it didn’t feel safe. I wouldn’t ever attend another Halloween event there were 17 of us and we all left really disappointed.
Helen L — Google review
Kids had fun, we thought there was more for young children and less for older. Queues could be better, the only two rollercoasters and the log flume took ages with two bored children. It wouldn't hurt to have something to keep kids busy in an hour's queue! Everyone else mentions the staff - while some were great and engaged, others really were not. Overall it was very expensive - especially for the time you then spend in a queue - but kids had fun.
Roz D — Google review
We had an amazing time at crealy over the weekend. We met up with friends and everyone had such a good time! There were no waiting around for rides, which is a massive benefit for the kids! We ran inside when it started to rain to find a great soft play area for all ages and then was back outside on the rides and climbing frames when the sun reappeared. Thankyou so much for having us and we can’t wait to come back!
Tigan L — Google review
Honestly, I expected much better from Crealy. The rides were mostly for little kids, nothing thrilling at all. We stayed in a “luxury” apartment which looked nice and had a jacuzzi, but the problems started at checkout. We were only an hour late leaving and got charged £50. When I asked, they said even if we were five hours late it would be the same price — which makes no sense. I’ve been to far better places like Thorpe Park, Drayton manor, Alton tower and Holiday inn, and they never charged for something so minor. When I mentioned that, they replied, “Places like Thorpe Park have more budget and employees unlike us,” which honestly isn’t a professional excuse to give a customer. Then they accused us of leaving the apartment “uncleaned,” blamed us for a crack that was already there, and added another £100 fee. It’s not about the money — it’s about how unprofessional it all felt. For what we spent, we could have stayed somewhere much better and more trustworthy. Definitely not worth the price or stress. (Update after owner’s response): Thank you for replying, but your message honestly proves my point. I completely understand having policies in place — every business does — but professionalism means handling things with fairness and understanding, not hiding behind policies to justify unreasonable charges. We were only one hour late, not several hours, and yet you charged us the same as someone who could’ve stayed half the day. That’s not about “consistency”; that’s just poor customer care. When I mentioned that other places like Thorpe Park and other good rated places didn’t charge for such small delays, your staff responded that “they have more budget and employees unlike us.” As a professional business, that should never be an excuse given to a paying guest. And about the so-called “damage” — the crack was already there before we arrived, which shows a lack of proper inspection by your team, not carelessness from us. As for the “uncleaned” apartment, the way it was exaggerated and followed by a £100 fee clearly felt like an excuse to add extra charges. It’s not about the money—it’s about integrity and the guest experience. For the amount we spent, I would’ve expected at least fairness and honesty. Policies are meant to maintain standards, not to penalise customers unfairly.

I love it, my son loved it, and so did my husband! An amazing place, every single thing is worth it, the staff is amazing, all of them happy and kind. The train, the soft plays, the cars , the shows, the trampoline, the caterpillar the slides, the sensory area for my baby too, great great great! If I'm around this area again, I will come back for sure.
Marcela S — Google review
We had a great family day out at The Milky Way with plenty to keep the children (5 and 2) amused. There was plenty to do inside and outside. The park is very clean and well looked after, there is plenty of space. I appreciated the effort put in to having things for under 5's to do. We also enjoyed the Magic Show and Birds of Prey shows - these where a great addition to the other attractions. The staff where also very friendly and accommodating.
Gemma H — Google review
Fun day out for whole family - went with a 5, 7, 2x 13 year olds and the assorted parents and grandparents. Loads for the younger ones to do, enough to keep the older ones interested as well. Highlight for myself and the teenagers was the Falconry display. Absolutely amazing stuff with the birds, great talk and one of my boys purchased an art print from David who runs them. Also great display of Star Wars and Dr Who memorabilia. Fantastic day out.
Gareth C — Google review
Fantastic, despite truly awful weather! Torrential rain most of the day, with blustery wind, so some of the outside rides were forced to close for safety reasons. A couple of them did open briefly and were enjoyed by the teens in my family group. The birds of prey centre and the beautiful art of David who runs it, were still accessable, and he managed a small, very informative and interesting, indoor display with some of his birds, however the outdoor display with the larger birds could not go ahead. Brilliant! and a lovely chap to have met. We visited in late September for a family birthday and there was still plenty to do all day, despite the weather outside. The restaurant staff went out of their way to provide menus for us that included food that my grandson, who has various severe allergies ,was able to eat and later, despite notices saying only food bought there could be consumed there, they very kindly allowed us to bring our own vegan and allergy free birthday cake in for the birthday boy. So very kind and very much appreciated. Our mixed age,( ranging from 9months to 76), family party of nine had an absolutely fantastic time and Great Grandmother 76,gave everyone watching, plenty of laughs by going down the highest Black Hole drop slide!
Kris H — Google review
We went there for the bird show but we did just about every thing else in spite of not having young children. The ticket staff were welcoming and informative. They could not have been more helpful. David the falconer was superb at everything and we had a good chat in his shop and bought some of his amazing artwork. Son took loads of photos. Merlin was very entertaining indeed. Don't want to give anything away but he was hilarious. The cafe had some seriously cheesy jacket spuds. We had to have a milky way as well. The ride staff were polite and fun, and mentioned other things to do. Signposting was good. Thanks for a great day out.
Verity B — Google review
We come to the milky way every year and have always had an amazing time. The rides are fun and the soft play and pottery shed is always a good time. However the highlight of the day are the birds of prey. The bird show is amazing and even though it's normal very similar each year, always worth watching. How are work is beautiful and is my mother in-law favourite artist, so we always have a look at how art and the fact you can meet the birds that they are basted on makes it more special. I don't recommend the cafe, it's basic food and the setting in both cafes are uncomfortable and tbh very expensive however there are plenty of seating to eat an packlunch. It's a welcome to all children of all like and dislikes and all ages. Get there by 11 am and watch the magic show its funny and interesting.
Rebecca C — Google review
Really lovely day out with our 3yo! The highlight of the day was the staff, they were all really helpful and friendly and helped to engage our daughter in the activities, a shoutout to the two guys on the Dodgems and Merlin! Although Merlin had a small crowd he got the audience going and was great with getting the kids involved, not many parks have magic shows so I thought this was good being something a little different. I thought overall it was really good value as there was so much for kids to do. I guess the adult tickets may be a little on the expensive side as activities are geared around kids, but no different to other comparable places. It was all suitable for kids of all different ages and I think even if you have young teens they would also have fun here. The falconer was very knowledgeable and interesting too, the birds of prey was one of the highlights of our visit. I looked at the pottery painting as if we had time we may have done it, and I didn’t find it too terribly priced. Some of the smaller figure and animals were £8-10 which I expected and was quite reasonable. We arrived at around 11.20 and stayed until closing time and wished we got there for opening as we could have easily spent longer there ☺️ Would definitely recommend
Samantha D — Google review
We visited during half term with a 5 and 8 year old and had a brilliant time! No long waits for rides, and on a couple we went straight back on. Plenty of things to do and only a couple you have to pay extra for (we didn't and still had lots to do). A major highlight was the outdoor falconry show, the presenter was really knowledgeable and had the falcons flying right over our heads. We didn't see the other shows but wish we had now! Also recommend the pizza in the Star Light restaurant, freshly cooked and very tasty.

The BIG Sheep is an animal-themed amusement park perfect for families, offering a variety of activities such as sheep racing, lamb feeding, and gentle rides. Visitors can also enjoy a tractor safari, a rollercoaster ride, and explore the animal barn. The park features outdoor play areas and live shows like the Sheepy Show where different breeds of rams appear on stage with their own theme tunes. Additionally, there are amenities such as free parking and dog kennels onsite.
We went on a terrible rainy day during Whitsun School holidays. This meant some outdoor activities were not available (but there was an option to come back when it's dry). However, the activities that were running made for a great day. The Sheep show with the different breeds was interesting and very funny for little kids and adults (listen out for why Bob the sheep is called Bob). Same goes for the Duck Trials. The barn had the stars of the sheep show and many other animals to feed and pet. It's definitely worth buying bags of animal food. The indoor play area with slides and soft play, etc. was perfect for our grandson. I expected to be fleeced by the price of food (fleeced, get it),but I wasn't. It was good and reasonably priced. This is great for a rainy day. I would imagine it would still be great for a dry day too.

My 4yr old loved it and so did the adults. The indoor playroom and feeding the lambs were the biggest hits but the bouncy pillows and train ride get a good shout out too

Absolutely superb place. Brilliant attractions and the animals are great. Ideal for families. The food and facilities are great. WiFi available. Free parking. One real g is the staff. Everyone we spoke to was enthusiastic and helpful. We really felt like they enjoyed it as much as we did. Recommended!

Brilliant day out and something for all the family as long as you like sheep, rides, and having fun. We went in half term, but it wasn't too busy. We never had to wait too long for the rides, riding the rollacosta 5 times in a row, and we always got good seats for the shows, which were very entertaining for the kids and adults. I would say it's great value for money as we were there all day. Cafe food wasn't the best but the service was great and the tables were clean etc. There are lots of picnic tables around so you could always take your own food.
Sarah P — Google review
Our family had the most enjoyable and hilarious time here today. This represents, in my opinion, one of the best value days out around. John was incredibly entertaining during Rams on Parade, the Duck Trials and the sheep race, and we also really enjoyed feeding the lambs. The rides are all free, which we did not expect, and we went on the rollercoaster 3 times. The cafe is lovely and the play equipment was really fun for our daughter too. There were also some lovely things which we bought in the shop. Could not recommend this more!

We’d always come up to Devon from East Sussex to visit my great grandparents who’d always take us to the big sheep. One of my best childhood memories is visiting this place. Unfortunately my grandparents passed in 2019&2020, so I hadn’t visited this place in years, the last time I visited was when I was around 14? I’m now 22 and have come up to Devon with my partner and son and we re visited the big sheep yesterday ( October 18th ). We had the best time! It was nice to see that not much has changed, it made me feel like a kid again! This place is just amazing, there’s so much to do and there’s always entertainment on! The animals are just so sweet and we really enjoyed feeding them in the barn! The staff are always so lovely and welcoming too. We fed some lambs which was an amazing experience & the man who hosted the lamb feeding was the same man I had a picture with back in 2013 when I was little! I’m unsure of his name but he had a great sense of humour and was overall really lovely! I’m looking forward to bringing my son here every year so Devon & the big sheep can be a big part of his childhood too❤️

Visited here when we were on holiday in the area and what a fantastic place it is! So much to do for the whole family to enjoy. We especially enjoyed the sheep show & seeing the baby lambs! Really clean facilities. We will definitely return when we are in the area.

The National Marine Aquarium in Plymouth, England is a modern art deco-style attraction that opened in 1998. It's the UK's largest aquarium and part of the Ocean Conservation Trust, focusing on research and conservation. The aquarium features a variety of marine life from Devon to the tropics, including fish, sharks, turtles, and jellyfish. Visitors can enjoy feeding sessions, an underwater tunnel experience, and a cafe with panoramic harbor views.
The most fantastic Aquarium I have ever been to which includes the largest fish tank in the UK. It even has a small sunken bi-plane within the tank, (which tells you how large we are talking here) The sharks, and massive sea turtle (called Friday) were incredible. I have not been to another aquarium in the UK that includes sharks! Staff have an incredible amount of knowledge about the animals in the aquarium all the way down to their behaviours and how each of them interact with the divers that feed them. At various points you get to see the divers go into the water. This is by far the largest and most impressive aquarium I have seen, if you are into your marine animals this opportunity is certainly not to be missed! Definitely check this place out if you are ever visiting Plymouth!

We visited this place with our 5 year old son and were a bit disappointed that extra attractions, like soft play, were unavailable. We enjoyed the big aquarium and watching the team of reaserchers at the lab. If you have an autistic child like we do I'll advice you to be there first in the morning as it becomes busy later on. The tickets can be used for the whole day which is fantastic as we didn't have a chance to see everything in our first round. Our son just runs like a Flash😆 Lovely, friendly staff. X

A great place to visit for young and old. You can spend a few hours just wandering around at your own pace looking at the vast array of fish, turtles and sharks. My children loved this place. This is my second time here and would definitely return for a third time.

Lots of information and big fish. We took about an hour to go around, we did not read the information boards which could easily add another hour. There are a couple of places to sit and watch which is a pleasant way to spend some time. They offer a year's entry for the price of a day; £26 per adult, which is quite pricey if you only visit once. However visit again within the year and it becomes fantastic value!
Jason H — Google review
I have read the reviews before I went to this aquarium so I knew what to expect. To be honest, the staff are quite friendly and helpful, and I wish I could give it a higher point, but the fish tanks are too small, and the so-called biggest fish tank could have come with a bit more fish or more impressive fish. I think perhaps because the major visitors of this aquarium are kids and their families these days, they stick too many stickers with words and scientific facts on the wall, yet put too few fish to see. The best room is the room with the lecture, the curvy glass helps us to see the animals more clearly. The lecturer was very enthusiastic when she talked about sharks, rays, and the green turtle. I do not mind that they make the Aquarium more educational, but I hope they prioritize the fish rather than people. Whether bigger or smaller fish, they need more space to swim. For the size and the reputation of this museum, they could have done better.

So much too see. There was 2 school parties here when I went and they looked intrigued by the big tank while they were at a talk. I loved it,my daughter in law showed us the way luckily else I'd have been going in circles. Didn't see any seahorses which were there last time and the sharks were not that big but my fave were the mantas and stingrays. There were some really big starfish,a turtle and lots of strange looking fish and anemones. Got a years pass on buying entry tickets so will be returning soon.

Excellent. You get to see so much. You can even go round again and again. The cafe has very limited seating, food looked good but seemed overpriced. Toilets are located throughout. Easy to get round with pushchair, lift however is very small. The view you get of the animals is amazing.

Visited recently and this place truly blew me away. As the UK’s largest aquarium, it effortlessly lives up to the hype with its four themed zones: Plymouth Sound, Eddystone Reef, Atlantic Ocean, and Blue Planet; all packed with vibrant marine life and fascinating exhibits. The Atlantic Ocean exhibit is mind-blowing, housing a colossal 2.5-million-liter tank filled with sharks, rays, and tropical fish, viewed through thick acrylic walls that make you feel submerged. The Ocean Drifters jellyfish display in the Atlantic zone is also stunning; perfect for taking a moment to marvel. Kids (and grown-ups) will love the interactive corners; rock pool touch tanks, storytelling sessions, behind-the-scenes tours, and crafts that bring education to life with fun. I especially appreciated the thoughtful accessibility touches like lowered viewing panels, stools for young visitors, and staff who are knowledgeable and welcoming. Extra perks: a café with harbour views, a lovely on-site gift shop, and seamless entry options (standard and fast-track). Plus, if you nudge the ticket cost with gift aid, you could score a year’s free return visits which is definitely great value for money.

Babbacombe Model Village is a popular attraction in Torquay, offering visitors a chance to feel like giants as they explore 4 acres of miniature houses, vehicles, and people. Since 1963, this village has been showcasing over 400 models representing British life and culture from the past 50 years. The meticulously crafted exhibits include animated scenes and well-known landmarks such as Stonehenge and London's Shard.
This miniature model village is an absolute delight and incredibly well thought out. The one-way system is a brilliant touch — it guides you through the entire attraction seamlessly, so you never feel like you’ve missed a thing. What really sets this place apart is the level of detail in the displays. From tiny scenes to hilarious adult humour tucked into signs, logos, and shop names, there’s something to entertain everyone — not just the kids! You’ll find yourself chuckling at the clever wordplay as much as admiring the craftsmanship. The free crazy golf is a added bonus and perfect for keeping children entertained after exploring the village. There’s also a nice café and a picnic area on-site, giving you the option to relax and take your time. Expect to spend a good couple of hours here at a relaxed pace. Parking is easy with a car park just outside — you can pay via app or the on-site machines. Overall, a quirky, charming day out with fun for all ages. Highly recommended!

Having never been before, we saw a post on YouTube about this place. We thought it would be a good place to go to for a couple of hours. We went on a Friday when they had the night opening for the model illumination. Amazing! We walked around during the day so we were able to see the brilliant models in daylight. If you take the time to really look , you can see the details of every model. You also see the puns that are all around the park. Everything is lovely here, in the daylight and the inside displays are something else. Beautiful and ethereal. It's totally different during the night when all the models are illuminated by street lighting, car lights and lights in the model properties. Make sure you see the Tiny British Cake Off with the presenters old and new! There's a small mini golf to play for free as well. Café great choices, had the plant based pepperoni pizza, fabulous. Definitely worth visiting. We are going to be visiting again.

Such a jolly guy to welcome us at entrance/pay desk! Very helpful and friendly. He recommended we take our time to look in detail at everything as there are lots of 'play on words' signage giving plenty of laughs! Great that the ticket price allows free entry for a week from visit. I thought £20.50 was reasonable as we spent 2 n half hours and there's lots of interesting history and information about the costs and man hours involved in the creation and production/maintenance of the models. It is constantly evolving, we really enjoyed our visit !!

This was an amazing day out. So many tiny details and so many puns. Look out for where's wally and friends! The person who designed this place was a genius. The models are all beautifully made and the landscaping is amazing. It is in a valley so you will have to walk up and downhill, however, everything is laid with concrete and there are handrails as well. I went round it with a buggy and it was fine. There are indoor parts as well including mythical kingdoms and more detailed models. The crazy golf was fun as well and is included in the ticket price. There is a coffee shop with snacks and bathrooms at the top as well. There's also baby changing areas. I would recommend going during the day to see all of the tiny details. You can return within 7 days free with your ticket. We went the following night to see the illuminations which were beautiful. I will come again next year with my family ☺️ Thank you so much to the lovely staff who made our day as well!

We went mid week, it was not the summer holidays yet so was not busy at all which was nice! £20 for adult to enter which included mini golf, the mini golf was fun! You could definitely spend 2-3 hours here easily. A fun place to visit!

Now this place was a surprise, I only thought I'd be here a couple of hours....... 4 hours later, so much to see and take in, the place was alot bigger than expected, I loved it...... Even played a round of mini golf 😂. It looks like you could get to do I night time visit on special occasions (would have loved to have done that, maybe next time I'm in the area 😁). Definitely a place to visit with or without the kids.
Robert C — Google review
This was such a pleasure to go to. It was bigger than we thought and really easy to find. The car park is small so recommend you get there early if you can or you can get the number 12 bus and it is a short walk from the bus stop. There was so much to see and some of the scenes were genius and well thought of some were also really hilarious 🤣 Make sure you check everywhere as there’s little scenes that are hidden too
Nikki R — Google review
Revisited after 55 years as my happy childhood memory of coming here had stayed with me. We were the only visitors for the first hour as it was raining very heavily, but this didn’t spoil our day at all. The sun came out for us to play crazy golf and there were indoor models too. We loved searching for the bugs, Where’s Wally characters and other hidden items as we’re big kids at heart. Also laughed out loud at some of the names. I have limited mobility but managed the site well. Staff are lovely, cafe was very nice. A really fabulous day out.

Kents Cavern Prehistoric Caves, located just over a mile from Torquay Harbour, offers an immersive experience for families with kids' activities, tours, and a large restaurant. The site is renowned for its impressive stalagmites and stalactites. Visitors can explore a woodland trail featuring information about dinosaurs and other prehistoric animals, as well as a Stone Age zone where they can uncover artifacts and learn survival skills from ancient times.
This was an amazing day out! We had Amelia as our tour guide and she was brilliant. So many punny jokes 🤣 she had so much knowledge about the caves and made learning about it fun. We will come again just to ask her more questions! Definitely a brilliant place to go especially when it's raining! The Woodland trail was not buggy friendly, so we weren't able to go around this unfortunately. It looked nice from where we were standing though.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Highly Recommended Experience! An absolute must-do if you’re in the area. The caves themselves are fascinating – steeped in history, atmosphere, and stories that stretch back millions of years. Walking in and around the site feels like stepping into another world. A very special shout-out to Mark, our guide. He was engaging, funny, and crystal clear in his delivery. More than that, he was interactive and knew exactly how to bring the history to life, making the experience immersive from start to finish. If you’re looking for something unique, memorable, and truly eye-opening, this is one of the best things to do. I couldn’t recommend it more highly!

Kent's Cavern - Fantastic geological marvel. Naturally formed over 500 million years. You cannot help but be in awe of this cavernous wonder. You have a fully guided tour who is informative and friendly and willing to answer all questions. I have seen they do special events in the caves as well, which seems a great idea. Such as Halloween/Christmas/Movie nights. Unfortunately... This attraction is not the longest and you could easily be in and out within the hour. Disability access isnt great but they do highlight this before you visit. I do feel soo much more could be done to enhance the experience and make you stay on site longer creating more of a day out of your experience. There is a woodland walk they have built but a lot more investment is needed to make it engaging. Money is tight these days, and i wouldn't even like to begin to imagine the amount insurance costs for something like this! and i hope it is protected forever going forwards... But to make money sometimes you need to spend money! and this is definitely one of those attractions.

Had a fantastic time in the caves today! We visited with our 3 children and arrived 5mins late due to having to walk from our accommodation and the gentleman on the desk was extremely helpful and moved us to the next tour which we truly appreciated. Our guide Alan was fabulous ; engaging, informative and knowledgeable. Really interesting tour which lasted about an hour but flew by as it was so enjoyable. The caves are well lit and it has good flooring - there was a granny in flip flops and socks on our tour and she managed fine! We had a cream tea after which were lovely and generous portions, the cafe staff were all very polite, friendly and helpful, we had a lovely time and would highly recommend thank you! X

Fantastic place to visit when in Torquay and well worth visiting if further away. Surprisingly large cave with excellent tour guides. I went in October so there were only 4 visitors so had a great experience with no crowds. Highly recommended!

A real holiday highlight, these stunning caverns are shown in as natural a state as possible and are all the better for it. Enhanced by the top quality guides, the shows are inclusive and family friendly without glossing the less clean parts of history. Fascinating and a must visit while in the area

Kents Cavern is an incredible experience! The caves are perfectly lit and full of fascinating history. The guided tour is engaging and informative, bringing the past to life. It’s a great adventure for all ages, both educational and fun. Highly recommend visiting!

Absolutely fascinating experience at Kent's Cavern. Our tour guide, Emelia, was brilliant. Her knowledge of the caves, prehistoric history, and little details made the entire tour come to life. The caves themselves are stunning and incredibly well preserved. It’s amazing to think how much history is hidden underground. Everything was well organised, from the welcome at the front desk to the informative tour and café afterwards. Highly recommend this place to anyone visiting the area. Whether you’re into history, geology, or just looking for something unique to do, Kent’s Cavern is a must visit. Don’t miss it!

Nestled in the serene landscapes of Devon, The Donkey Sanctuary in Sidmouth is a delightful destination for families, especially those with children aged 4 to 10. This remarkable sanctuary is home to over 500 donkeys, many of whom have been rescued from difficult situations. Visitors can freely explore the expansive grounds and interact with these gentle creatures in the main donkey yard. The sanctuary features an outdoor play area themed around farm life and a fun maze that promises hours of entertainment for kids.
Spotted signposted on our way to Sidmouth and decided to swing by on our way back and very happy we did. It was a lovely place to drop by at and a big place to walk around leisurely. Loads of donkeys all over the place and a fun little maze. Free entrance but we made a donation and bought some bits on their shop as it goes towards a nice cause looking after them and provides a nice place to come if you are in the area. Recommend it and if in the area again I am sure we would swing by again as like I say, was a nice place to walk around if nothing else. We went on a Saturday afternoon and was easy to park and not too busy. Relatively flat under foot, not that it mattered to us but just letting you know if you have any walking issues.

Excellent facilities, very dog friendly. Lovely walk in good weather. Enjoyed seeing Donkeys in nice surroundings; very well cared for and loved. Gorgeous coffee and cake in the cafe too.
Fay T — Google review
Great place. Definitely recommend coming here. Free entry and you can donate to help out. Donkeys were lovely and funny when one started issues with another donkey for smelling poo. They do sound like they have sore throats from all the noises they make 😂. Beautiful place tho and good clean toilets

I just had to meet Walter! The donkey whom my husband had gifted an adoption from The Donkey Sanctuary. I was expecting an old fashioned set up but I was totally wrong. The entrance is modern, well kept and clean. It is all well organised and the lovely people who work and volunteer, are well informed and willing to answer questions. We sat through a lovely informative talk where we watched the donkeys like a heard of cattle go back into the main barn that had fresh hay. They are such gentle animals, well worth the visit. It caters for all ages and with plenty of car parking spaces too. Definitely would recommend
Helen N — Google review
What a beautiful location! There are so many well-cared-for donkeys, and we enjoyed an informative talk from one of the staff members. The hedge maze and play area for children provide great fun for everyone. There is plenty of seating around the park and fields. The restaurant was very popular, with a big queue leading into the main area. The food is excellent and offers amazing value for money, with huge cups of coffee. All the staff were working very hard. How is this place free? The shop has a wide range of items, all at low prices. It’s just fantastic! We will definitely be back soon.
Wayne R — Google review
Wonderful example of conservancy & protection of these gentle creatures. See many donkeys living in grassy fields and close up in their pens. Great layout of viewing walks all signposted with donkey info. Children will love it. Tea rooms and lunches also served.
Dale T — Google review
What a gem this is. A peaceful, tranquil site with c.200 donkeys roaming the many paddocks. Good restaurant, gift shop, educational area and things for kids including a surprisingly tricky maze. Highly recommended way to spend an afternoon, with your dogs if you like also. Just remember to donate as the place is free entry.
J W — Google review
Amazing place to visit. Facilities are great for visitors and Donkeys! The staff are excellent. The talk at shelter 1 when we went was very interesting and also entertaining when one naughty Donkey nibbled and undid the shoelace of the handler doing the talk. I never knew Donkeys cannot take much weight at all despite everything you see on screen and TV! Its well worth a visit. Entry is free! But please donate to such a good cause. We were visiting our adopted Donkey, Ashley on the day but the walks around the massive grounds are great to do and the cafe is well worth a stop off after too!

Pennywell Farm, located near Buckfastleigh in South Devon, is a family-friendly farm attraction offering a wide range of activities and experiences for visitors. The farm is home to various animals including miniature pigs, lambs, rabbits, guinea pigs, donkeys, ponies, cattle, alpacas, deer, ferrets, tortoises and hedgehogs. Visitors can engage in hands-on activities such as feeding the animals and milking goats.
I took my 18 month old daughter to pennywell farm and she absolutely loved it. There's activities every 30 minutes, favourites of my daughters were the bottle feeding of baby goats and the goat walking. There are lots of animals to walk around and meet, and you can buy some animal feed and can feed certain animals too. They are all clearly sign posted which animals you can and can't feed. My daughter loved feeding the sheep and goats, and meeting the ponies in their paddocks. The little train ride was good fun too! There are plenty of play areas, including indoor bouncy castles and a toddler area outside. Both were a hit with my daughter. The bubble and bop area was really good fun too. There's another big outdoor play area, but that's for older children, but it looked really good and I will definitely bring my daughter back when she's bigger. The staff were all really friendly. We had a hot chocolate and sandwich from one of the cafes whilst we were there. They were a bit expensive, but that's expected at places like this.

A truly magical visit to Pennywall Farm! We absolutely loved our time here and honestly don’t know where to start—it was just amazing. Spending time with the animals, feeding and cuddling them, was so refreshing not only for the kids but for us as parents too. My husband definitely enjoyed dance with piggy mascot as well as our kids did. The atmosphere is incredibly warm and welcoming. Everyone we met was kind and helpful. A special mention to Chris, the owner—we think he’s retired now—but he still shares stories about the farm with such pride and joy. He was genuinely inspiring. Even though the farm was busy, there were no queues for anything, which made the whole experience relaxed and enjoyable. Highly recommend this place for families with children, and honestly, for any adults who just want to reconnect with animals and nature. You can really take your time here—stroke, feed, cuddle—it’s just such a wholesome, lovely experience. We’ll definitely be back!

We went to the date night at Pennywell Farm last night and it was amazing! The staff were so lovely and friendly and the animals are so well looked after and adorable! We were able to cuddle the little piglets and rabbits, bottle feed the goats and feed other animals. The views were so nice as well. We honestly had the best time walking around and seeing it all. Great atmosphere. Thank you SO much ❤️

Absolutely brilliant place to visit! We found Pennywell farm when searching for somewhere to visit en route to our holiday park. Even on a wet Monday we still had a fantastic time. There’s plenty of animals to feed in the dry. Feed was available to purchase at the entrance/shop. The goats will definitely make you giggle. From the incredibly welcoming and knowledgeable staff giving talks, to holding a piglet. Both children aged 2yrs old were fully engaged and made to feel welcomed by staff. There’s also plenty of hand washing stations located around the site. The views from the top of the viewing tower give you a 360 panorama of picturesque Scenery which all compliment its truly beautiful location. We loved it so much we returned on the Friday, on our way home from our holiday. If you have the opportunity to pay Pennywell farm a visit it’s well worth it! Thank you to the team at Pennywell farm for building something truly beautiful for many generations to enjoy and making us feel so welcomed!

This was a fantastic day out from start to finish. I suggest booking online as they are really busy at peak times. There is a large barn where children can cuddle all sorts of animals: mice, rabbits, baby goats and miniature pigs. You have plenty of time in there and can return later in the day. You can bring your own blanket or buy a small one at the farm entrance for £3. So many activities, see the photo showing then all. Pig racing was really fun to watch. There's a tractor ride, a small train, pond dipping , go karts and so much more. Highly recommend this place. The goat feeding was funny to see as the children all line up around an enclosure fencing with the bottles ready and the goats are let out to excitedly find a bottle to feed from. You can buy animal food to feed the alpaca, deer, goats etc. Plenty of food stalls with a good range of food and drinks. Not too bad prices for an attraction. There is a fire pit so you can buy marshmallows on sticks to toast there. There is free mini golf to play, nice climbing structures and a maze too. Make sure to go for the whole day as you need it to do everything. We got a discount code that allowed us to visit again within a week.

Absolutely wonderful experience. We came to visit as a way of celebrating our 9th wedding anniversary. Grounds are well kept and animals well loved. Every member of staff was smiling and it was obvious they enjoyed working there, they had a genuine friendly manner. Mark led the activities all day and he had just the right amount of enthusiasm whilst not being annoying. Our almost 2 year old had a great day, not sure if we would be happy to pay an extra near £20 for him once he turns 2 though, but it was definitely worth the price paid for 2 adults. If you can afford it then make sure you go as it’s a great day out!

We just had the most amazing day at Pennywell Farm. There’s no shortage of exciting activities to do. Our favourite experience had to be having cuddles with the animals! The team were incredibly helpful and enthusiastic and really contributed to our overall enjoyment during the day. Especially Lucy, who was super friendly and helpful, and amazing with the kids, and clearly has a love for all the animals- she went above and beyond throughout the entire day. As well as Evie who was in the pet cuddling area, she was attentive and friendly. Always prepared to ensure that everyone was happy and had a fair experience with the animals!

Exmoor Zoological and Conservation Centre, located in North Devon, is a family-oriented zoo with over 200 species. The zoo offers handling experiences and daily talks featuring pumas, marmosets, lemurs, and other animals. Visitors can see a variety of wildlife from around the world including black leopards, spiders, otters, wallabies, lynx, cheetahs and more. The natural-style enclosures provide an up-close experience with the animals.
Great place to see some pretty awesome and rare animals and birds. The only shoebill in the country and she didn't disappoint. The panther, the puma, the cheetahs, all amazing. The wolves and other dogs are just brilliant to see. There was plenty of parking on arrival. The facilities within the park were fine. The wee cafe was OK, the not the greatest , and neither the worst. There was animal handling and informative shows at various points throughout the day. Which were well worth attending. All in all, it was a great day.

We had a brilliant day out at Exmoor Zoo and would highly recommend it to families and visitors of all ages. The range of animals is fantastic, and we were able to see them all during our visit. They all appeared well cared for and happy in their enclosures, which was lovely to see. The zoo is also very inclusive, with excellent accessibility features, including widgets with images to help those with SEND communicate and engage more easily with the experience. This thoughtful touch made the visit even more enjoyable and welcoming. The staff were incredibly friendly, approachable, and always happy to help with any questions. Another highlight was the short nature walk, which takes only around 15 minutes but is very peaceful and definitely worth doing. It’s a great way to enjoy the surroundings beyond the animal enclosures. Overall, Exmoor Zoo offered us a wonderful day out full of memorable experiences, we would definitely return!

Visited Exmoor Zoo today, even though it rained on and off, a great place to visit. Amazing amount of animals to see, with plenty of room in their enclosures. Well worth a visit, at a reasonable price. Cafe ok, but could do with more of a selection of warm food and cakes(A Chef/Cook would be nice) Overall experience was very good. Nice little gift shop too.

This has to be my favourite zoo. It has a great range of animals which are all easy to see thanks to the enclosure layouts. Everything was clean and tidy and all the animals seemed happy. Normally our children get bored at zoos but not this one, they said they could have watched the Lar Gibbons all day which I agree! Hope to visit again soon!

Me and my partner had a red panda experience here, which was excellent. We really enjoyed it and would recommend it . As for the zoo itself , it is small but hilly , there is a good selection of animals though no elephants, giraffe , rhino, hippo, but they do have red panda, puma, panther, desert fox, alpacas, gibbons , snake, tapir, wolves, wolverine, cheetah to name a few. Entrance was slow as is the cafe service, but everyone was so friendly. Can get busy quickly and car park is a bit cramped near the ticket office.

Nice place to visit, lots of animals to see. It's a decent size place but you can get round quite quick. We spent about an hour and a half there and saw everything. Avoid of you don't like lots of push chairs! Don't arrive after 12 as there will be hardly any parking spaces. We were parked in the overflow parking and there were cars hovering around waiting for a space.

Used my tesco vouchers which made it super great value. So many great animals and although really hot weather I think we managed to see all of them. We were expecting to be there a couple of hours as we got there mid afternoon but 3 hrs went by so quickly and you could easily make a whole day of it. Definitely recommend, my 12 yr old love it and my 16 yr old surprisingly really enjoyed it too. Highly recommended for all ages

Powderham Castle is a magnificent historic fortified manor house located in the picturesque parish of Powderham, just outside Exminster in Devon. Its origins date back to around 1390 when it was constructed by Sir Philip Courtenay. The castle has undergone notable additions and played a significant role in key battles such as the War of the Roses and the English Civil War.
Really stunning. Every part of the castle and grounds blew us away. There's a lovely walk through the castle with clearly marked out of bounds places. The castle isn't perfect but that adds to the charm. It is still lived in and this is palpable as we walk around. There are clear and informative boards sharing information about the history of the room or feature and this was great. When we visited there was also a fantastic art installation in one of the rooms and we really enjoyed exploring that too. It is the grounds which set the experience apart with eh deer park so clearly visible. We were lucky enough to see the herd of deer drinking from the lake just the other side of the fence. A really breathtaking moment.
Jamie W — Google review
Book online. You want an 90 minutes to 2 hours for the castle alone. We rushed a visit into 1 hour, but I'd like to hear a full tour from the excellent tour guides. Well worth a visit, the free tours are massively worth it, they make the whole thing make sense. Interesting to hear about who did what to the building... AND WHY!! 🤣 Our guide was Andy and if we return next year, I will try to find out if he's volunteering that day. The family still live there so there's only so much that you can see. And of course, a place built in the 1700s needs a lot of work and money spent on it, but oh man it's fabulous. Nice cafe with lovely cakes, and great friendly yet professional service. Next time I'll ask for my black coffee to be a bit stronger ie less water. Farm shop is typical but big and well stocked, not cheap. Lovely staff - again. We'll definitely be visiting again next year, and take in more tours.

What a fantastic place. They offer guided tours which we didn't go on as we prefer to explore at our own lesuire, but all the staff were so informative and enthusiastic and couldn't wait to show us all the hidden secrets of the building. We spent about 2hrs exploring the building, we were particularly impressed with the music room and the main stair case. We then had a wander outside through the gardens and watched the deer. The cafe was unfortunately closed but there is a small shop near the carpark offering drinks and snacks. There are also walks within the grounds that we didn't do on this occasion but would definitely look to do next time. If you like history, old buildings and staff who are really informative and enthusiastic then this is the place for you.

This is a beautiful home, and a great opportunity to explore. Limited gardens, but still very lovely. However, the thing that really makes this visit special is the guided tour. Dave you are a legend and your knowledge, humour and care are greatly appreciated. Watch out for those secret doors.

We had a great day at the food fayre, although I can't say that the hot food on offer was worth the price, perhaps I picked the wrong stall. There was quite a variety of vendors and I really enjoyed the talk on making bacon. We did visit the castle too, we had been before and it was great to see the changes they've made. All in all a nice day out, there was a lot of entertainment for children too.

We couldn't go exploring on the estate as there was a shoot on, but it didn't bother us. The house was very interesting, the guide was extremely knowledgeable. She was very complimentary regarding the owner and we got the impression it's a happy workplace.

Nostalgia for us oldies 🤣. While I don't remember the Victorian items, there's a lot in there that was still about in my very young days and it brings back memories of my grandparents and parents. A really enjoyable couple of hours. The Victorian street was very atmospheric. Cafe on site , not sure about toilets as I didn't look for them , sorry.

I had a great time here with my mum and son. The displays are huge. They are so detailed and filled with memories. You could spend hours just looking at one display. They have arranged it in a clever way so that you can walk through the converted house easily. Not pram or wheelchair accessible unfortunately. I had my son in a front carrier. Also, there is a TRAIN in the middle of the building. I would have killed my husband if he had shown up at the house with a massive train, but this lady let him squeeze it in the house 🤣 Very nostalgic and a good walk around. We will be back next time we are in the area as I am sure that we missed some bits. Highly recommend a visit. Everything is inside, so it is great for the rainy days.

Great museum, I have visited a few times over the years and always find something new and interesting. Very well laid out and much bigger than it looks (I mean come on they have managed to fit a full steam engine in there) and that's a great story on its own let alone the literally hundreds if not thousands individual pieces of memorabilia and artefacts to look at. My personal favourite part is the Victoria era street as you go in complete with shops and cobble stones and the WW1 trench you can walk through.

What a great little find! My dad had been before and said for us to go. Went on a rainy day. It has so much history in one place and the west ham memorabilia topped our visit. The owner was lovely. So knowledgeable! Lovely little cafe. Reasonably priced (cash own, just FYI) Will definitely return.

Combe Martin Wildlife & Dinosaur Park is a popular destination for families, offering 28 acres of stunning sub-tropical gardens within North Devon's Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The park features a diverse range of wildlife, including monkeys, wolves, sea lions, otters, and exotic birds. Visitors can also encounter a family of life-sized animatronic dinosaurs. The park emphasizes education and interactive experiences with regular talks and shows hosted by passionate keepers.
We had a great day in the park. We loved the dinosaurs located along the path which is placed in beautiful landscape. We couldn’t take a ride on the train but we loved the walk on the dinosaur trail. We could see there are some works done so probably soon it will be even better. We enjoyed to visit ancient Egypt tombs and exhibition of fossils.

We visited the park on a Saturday during the summer holidays and had a brilliant experience. The dinosaurs are really realistic with loads of facts about them and were really enjoyed by the children. The animal enclosures are really good, with lots of space and enrichment. We watched the Sealion Show with Pam and were really impressed with the knowledge and training of Crusoe, he loves it! Thoroughly enjoyed just walking around the park, there's lots of space, food and places to relax and just enjoy the sunshine. Also, not forgetting the Tomb of the Pharaohs, what an amazing surprise - LOVED IT!!

Honestly, I am glad I had the ability to get concession tickets because at full price, I'm not sure this place would be worth it. There are some notices about damage caused in December, but this late on in the year, I feel it's not a great excuse. I'm not sold on the natural looking enclosures. Good variety of animals and information. The price of the cafe is extreme and despite the prices, the handle for the door is broke. I was in the cafe for over 10 minutes and I did not see the "self cleaning tables" clean themselves once. :')
Stephen M — Google review
This an eclectic park (there's a concessionary price for over 60s) it combines rides and attractions you might otherwise find in an amusement park with real wildlife ranging from timber wolves to gibbons and animatronic dinosaurs and even performing seals. Certainly its a way to keep kids amused and entertained for a good few hours and there are canteen facilities as well.

Nice little rural wildlife Park, that has its charm for its "ruralness". Fits into the valley, so no plain park with no ups and downs. Expect lots of steep climbs, even from the parking lot to the entrance. Tickets bought online are cheaper and you get extras like another free visit and a 50% off for the next season.
Philipp W — Google review
Having a young son who loves dinosaurs we have been round most dinosaur attractions in the uk and this one is fantastic visited recently the zoo is a nice touch with a decent variety of animals as well as a soft play staff are friendly and the animals appear to be well looked after I’m perplexed by some of the negative reviews for this place they appear to be people who don’t understand what replicating a natural habitat means or people who are not disabled complaining about walking up hills 🤨get some exercise the wolves are a highlight not to be missed the other critics seem to be about being able to enter the park without paying (wristbands)🧐
Seamus H — Google review
My son absolutely loves dinosaurs and animals and this park does not disappoint. The animals all have loads of room to roam but due to the organization of the park we got to see everything and they felt much closer than when visiting larger zoos. I do feel I need to mention the steepness of the slopes and steps, this needs a full day to make sure you have time to walk around at a reasonable pace. Pushchairs and wheelchairs beware it is very steep in places. The addition of the new dinosaur statues was perfect, my son was fascinated in hunting for them as we moved between the animals. We saw the sea lion show and this was fantastic, very knowledgeable staff and an informative show. My highest praise goes the the keeper who we met several times, feeding the meerkats and wallabies on 04/05/2025, he was so engaging during the talks but also made conversation with us throughout the day sharing knowledge about the animals as well as hints and tips about when to visit each of the zones to see the animals when they are active. This was a great day out and having the ability to return free within the next 7 days makes this a great value for money experience and the whole family would highly recommend!

Woodlands Family Theme Park in Devon is a top family attraction with a variety of rides, indoor and outdoor play areas, and a zoo/farm featuring meerkats and falconry displays. The park offers something for all ages, making it an ideal destination for families. Additionally, the Watermouth Family Theme Park and Castle in Ilfracombe provides a Victorian castle experience with nostalgic displays, rides, play areas, and beautifully landscaped gardens.
The woodlands has got family orientation in mind with the theme of the park. There is lots to do for the children. Multiple outdoor play areas located over the park, for both toddlers and big kids who are always on the go. There a big indoor soft play area that is 5 stores high! My daughter loved it. There are rides located around the park. If your looking for the latest & super fast rides, you need to got to Alton towers or somewhere like that. The farm area was cool, special as you could get close n feed some of them. Bird of prey section was interesting and amazing on how close you could get. Food here is limited and expensive but nice to eat and cooked, fresh to order. Overall, my family enjoyed going there and we did camp there awell. If you got a young family, give this place a try.

Fantastic day out for our 6yo and 9yo. So much to do although top hits were the 3 water rides and the sledge like rides! Adults enjoyed them too. Highly recommend the 7day pass if you're around for a while as good value if you go several times - great for wet days too with soft plays to go in. Staff were always helpful. My only criticism is no prices on the ice creams and we weren't told the amount when paying. We would definitely go back again..
Beth B — Google review
What a great day out for adults and children. Admission in advance was £17 and a few pence per person and once inside the park food and drink was also very reasonably priced. Selection was burgers, fries, hot dogs ,wraps etc. There was a small selection of farm animals to feed and observe and a large indoor play area for if the weather doesn't cooperate. There was a card available on our visit that if you collected 6 stamps from the rides availability, a return visit after the school summer holidays is only £25 for upto 8 people. Overall a great day out and we are returning in September.

Great little theme park set in beautiful woodland on the side of a hill, as per the norm for Devon! Out of season and nicely quiet, with the vast majority of attractions still open, including farmyard and falconry along with the rides. Overall great day for 11 year old birthday and his buddies.

Such a beautiful place. I know it's not perfect but you get so much value for your money. The food it's not the best, regular fried food but the prices are decent. They could do with more cleaning in the indoor areas but as mentioned above for the money paid I can't complain. We will visit again for sure, it's one experience which really worth doing it with the kids.

Great family park which is spread out with some good attractions. Massive soft play which alone is worth the visit. The raft slides had the longest queues but everything else was easy to get on to and do.

Tickets you could change to give you a weeks worth of entry. Enough to dp to keep kids entertained multiple times. Probably the biggest indoor play area i have ever seen and another indoor play area with air guns alot of fun. The slides were really good and got absolutely soaked multiple times. Toboggan only got chance to do once due to weather but was also fun. Would def go back again and also had a farm with a mixure of animals to look at also. Highly recommend.

When we first went in we went to straight to soft play as it was raining .we arrived around 9:30 so everything would of been open right ? Wrong . We waited around 9:35 to get into soft play whats not bad but what is , is when kids in my family went to play they didn’t let them in because they “could not find the lights “ . Something they do everyday . So we waited ages then got told that the rides open at 10:00 am . So we waited ages but then they said we could go on the rides , we went on the drop tower in soft play as the main bit was not open yet . It did not open until about 10:20 . The play areas look abandoned at some points and the whole area looks like someone thrown loads of ideas but just mushed them around . The tractor ride definitely needs an update . It took ages to get on , although the staff member was the only one smiling. . My child’s idea what I think might be good but doesn’t make that much sense, if that the theme park got frozen in time and the animals are trying to get to the homes , but the pirates are trying to take over 😂.The place does definitely need an update . The water slides you definitely get VERY WET. We waited ages for some of them just to get soaked . The staff except for one were not very good and honestly made the experience not good . They weren’t smiling , did not talk and made one of my kids have to pay for a drink even know she just wanted a twix. There are a few outdoor drop slide what I personally think need an staff or atleast cctv. Because it is very dangerous if you did not read the instructions as it is under six , but I saw some 3 year going down it and getting a lot of friction burns . There was also a blue one in the ninja area what was very bad . Instead of sliding you just fall . You are supposed to have a mat but when someone did not care about the rule they did it perfectly fine . It was around an 8 foot drop and no staff in sight if someone got hurt . Overall , it was a quite good experience if you like slides , if not maybe not as much . In some place it definitely needs an upgrade and way better slides

Diggerland Devon is an exhilarating theme park located in Cullompton, where both kids and adults can immerse themselves in the world of construction machinery. Visitors have the unique opportunity to ride, drive, and operate real diggers and dumpers, making it a thrilling experience for all ages. The park caters primarily to children aged four to 14 but offers fun activities that everyone can enjoy.
Our second visit in a month, family of 4 with a 10 and 13 year old. Diggerland Devon is a fantastic day out. Plenty for everyone to do and so much fun! The staff were all enthusiastic and helpful and the site was clean and well-run. We will recommend to everyone.

Had a fantastic time at Diggerland after visiting off the back of a friend's recommendation. Initially it may seem small when you arrive but unlike other parks, there isn't masses of walking in-between and everything is right next to each other. The staff were so friendly and inviting, the rides were excellent, particularly the Spinning Dizzy and the Giant Diggers. Kids had a blast, and no additional money needed spending once there.

Good outdoor facilities. I think the price could be lower as it is expensive. Although they class themselves as a theme park, I would disagree. You would spend a few hours here but not a full day out unless you wanted to repeat the activities. The outside wooden play areas are extremely outdated and unsafe in areas in my opinion. You shouldn’t have to worry about your child being safe on the equipment and I did. I think the wooden play areas are overlooked and probably haven’t been thoroughly safety checked in a long time. We came in 2023 and 2025 and nothing has been updated in that time and I had the same opinions about the play areas both times. The wood in some areas is unsafe. The indoor soft play is the worst and dirtiest soft play I’ve ever visited. It is disgusting and a fine example of why soft plays are a breeding ground for germs. I actually didn’t let my children play in them after I discovered the condition of them. I don’t think they’d be any evidence of the soft play having ever been cleaned. The indoor and outdoor play areas need a full revamp in my opinion. I have videos of all areas of concern but can’t upload them to this review.

I originally thought £25 a head was expensive. But, after seeing just about everything was included, I decided it was bloody good value for money, especially if your going for the day. My very young grandsons loved it . Especially seeing their 85 year old Grandad driving go karts and dodgems. I got in for half price, my carer got in for free

All the years that it's been open for my son's birthday.... We have visited. He's just celebrated his 16th birthday and yet again he's loved it. It was a great day out for us as we know it's safe, not massive and crazy busy so out 16 year old with additional needs doesn't get overwhelmed and is now going around the park independently and loves it. The staff albeit young, are mostly all so lovely, some are chatty, but all helped my son and made him feel at ease. The cafe.... Is spotless. The cleanliness was something even my children mentioned. Brilliant!! Very well organised and well thought out process ready for feeding lots of visitors. Benches that are wheelchair accessible were great. Food really great!! And well priced. .... The only 2 negatives... The park is incredibly pricey, we did book online which reduces it hugely, however, our family members couldn't join us as it was just too expensive and they wouldn't be going on anything either, just watching the children have fun. I do understand the price of equipment and fuel but this moves on to my second point... The equipment is all looking tired and dated and a few things not working. Most things haven't changed since my boy was little. We WILL continue to visit, this doesn't put us off, just observations and comments. I hope it continues to welcome visitors for many more years to come.

Dig earth deep with massive scoop, me likey. Fun for kids with good mix of kiddy and teen rides. Police car joyride for under age drivers is a highlight Some rides are very slow 🦥 but that's diggers for you Decent cafe and playground Would i queue for these rides if it was busy? Would spoil the fun for sure as the rides are good fun without being spectacular Overall, fun, pricey, some genuine unique thrills but best experienced when not too busy so you get your money's worth

Wow! So this is my new favourite place and I so wish it was closer to me as we live in Cornwall. We have been wanting to visit for a while as my daughter is called Honey and loves all things bees so we treated her after SATS week. We had such a lush day, the place is small but so well thought out and all the activities and talks are delivered excellently with lots of oppourtunities to ask questions. We loved watching the beekeepers with the bees and learning about beekeeping and the candle making was fun. All of your staff were the high point, friendly and knowledgeable and a well done to the new team member learning the ropes who was so sweet. My kids ages 11 and 8 had a great time and I had a great time in the gift shop. Kicking myself now that I didn't buy a bee throw! Lol. Thanks for an amazing day out. .highly recommended:)

This was a truly wonderful experience for both adults and children. A beautiful setting with flowers and gardens and fascinating talks and interactive sessions. Our daughter loves bees and got to find out more about them, taste honey and get involved with candle rolling and planting seeds. The staff were wonderful from the moment we walked in. From the greeting through to the lovely ladies going through the talks. They went out of their way to make sure we had a great experience. We spent an afternoon on our way back from holiday but could have easily spent a day. We have factored this in for another visit next year.

We had a fantastic day at Quince Honey Farm…it offers something for all ages. The bee demo, candle making, talks and honey tasting (all included in the entrance fee) were highlights. The café deserves a special mention too; clean, very reasonably priced, speedy service and legendary cheese scones! It would have been lovely to see a queen bee during the demo (sadly they didn’t spot one that day) and perhaps a live hive link or glass observation hive would add even more to the experience. We also hoped to try the honeycomb, which wasn’t available. That said, there was still so much to enjoy. Both the indoor play area and the spacious outdoor areas gave the children plenty to do, while the talks and tasting kept the adults engaged. We visited with ages ranging from 7 to 83, and genuinely everyone found something to enjoy. A tip: plan for either the morning or afternoon session, as the talks run twice a day; check timings so you don’t miss the ones you want. Well worth a visit and one we’d happily recommend.

Dog friendly!! We came for the bee talk and then the factory viewing and honey tasting. We walked around the garden afterwards and had a good look around the gift shop. We bought one of their products that helps fight eczema and it's really good!! My husband had diabetic psoriasis which gets incredibly painful. Two or three applications of this herbal cream really helped him. We've never visited a honey farm before, and we're very grateful this place was dog friendly. Staff were very knowledgeable about their product and very proud of the work they have been doing. And quite rightly so. Free parking, toilets and a cafe onsite.

Welcoming the returning sailors or defending the town Dartmouth castle remains today a distinctive fortification matched by its twin on the Kingswear shore. A good walk down the River Dart from the town centre you can refresh and refill yourself at the welcoming cafe. From the castle rest and enjoy extensive views seaward and watch yachts coming and going. Children will enjoy exploring the castle and be refreshed for their townward return walk. You can drive out to the castle but the road is narrow and parking limited. Toilets are available for the visitors.

We have visited your park on Saturday with 2 children(6 & 8yrs ) and I must say we had an enjoyable time overall and really love the new Splash area for kids. The splashing buckets and slides were perfect for our kids ages and we spent all of our 4 hours there. However I was genuinely shocked and concerned by the lack of safety enforcement on the water slides. There was no staff monitoring whether riders had cleared the slide before the next person was allowed on. Staff (teenagers) was stood at few slides but were there for show and did absolutely nothing. It was essentially a free-for-all. I personally witnessed multiple dangerous incidents, including one where an adult with a child on their lap crashed at full speed into another adult who was just standing up to exit the slide, also with a child. The adult fell backwards, and the child was hurt in the process. Alarming scenes like this occurred several times during the four hours we were there. I found myself having to check whether the person in front of me had exited the slide before going down, but there was nothing in place to prevent someone behind us from coming down too soon and crashing into us. Which has happened to my husband with our daughter in his lap. This lack of oversight is unacceptable and dangerous. Your staff urgently need proper training in guest safety and slide operations. We’ve visited many water parks (Florida, Dubai etc) and never encountered such a disregard for basic safety protocols.

Well what a great place. Very clean even though sea gulls do half the work. At 80 quid for a family of 4 for 3 hours I thought a bit expensive but once your on the slides you'll forget all about it. But great place even for little ones and in all in house fenced off, toilets, car park, lockers, food, disabled lift The lockers even give your 20p back Food was even on the cheap side for this part of country The shop also sells wetsuits if you get cold Beware the seagulls when eating they will come

Why liked it- Visited on a sunny day, fantastic location right next to the beautiful beach, definitely worth buying All day tickets for £30 each especially if weather is nice and it's busy you don't feel rushed and can actually enjoy the park properly all day. Queues were OK, looks long but it goes quite fast. Plenty of sunbeds and lockers but I would recommend to get one outside on the top, nice and easy and dry access to your belongings with changing rooms right next to it. Upstairs toilets and restaurant were never busy, offering burgers, chips, hot dogs, drinks very reasonably priced. Overall we had a fantastic time here. What we didn't like/ Downsides - litterarly no road signs to lead your way there- if we didn't have GPS no chance we would find this place, we are 5h away and stayed in Ladram Bay holiday park which is only 1h from Splashdown but even from there zero signs which way to go, thanks for technology! -parking is extra £11 for all day - no swimming pool for adults or swimmers, just one extra small crowded pool -metal stairs to the rides lacking a fresh paint to cover the rust -overall cleanliness could be better Looks like site is expanding tho as one part was undergoing some building works.

Fab place! The sunshine definitely helped but felt more sunny European Waterpark than the UK! My boss loved it - doesn't 4 very happy hours going on ask the rides whilst we had a drier time enjoying the (reasonable priced) snacks and drinks! Would recommend to any water ride thrill seekers!

Wow, what an amazing place! We booked our tickets for the 10:15 slot...didn't have any wait to enter, was quick and easy and there was barely any wait to use any of the slides! Kids had a great time and there's stuff there to do for everyone.
Emily M — Google review
Great fun for all the family. The place was well maintained and there was enough to do to keep the kids occupied for 2 or 3 hours. The queues weren't to bad and there are different levels of slides for everybody. The changing rooms are pretty good and clean enough which considering the number of people using them is quite impressive.

Oh my goodness, where do I even begin?! We just had the most incredible day at Splashdown Quaywest, and I'm still buzzing from all the fun! It's truly the UK's BIGGEST outdoor waterpark, and it absolutely lives up to the hype. As a family of four, with our energetic 7-year-old Bodhi Honey (who has Autism and ADHD) and our adventurous 4-year-old, we were a little unsure what to expect, but it exceeded all our hopes. It's truly a place where summer dreams come true for families! First off, a massive tip: definitely wear wetsuits! We heard this recommendation and it was a game-changer. Even though it was a bright day, the wetsuits kept us perfectly warm and comfortable, allowing us to stay in the water for hours without a shiver. This was especially great for Bodhi Honey, as staying warm helps make the whole experience more enjoyable. What I loved most was the sheer variety of ways to experience the slides. We weren't just limited to one type of ride – we could choose to go on a body slide, grab a mat for head-first thrills, or jump on a tyre for a more relaxed (but still exciting!) journey. We literally did them all, and it felt like a different adventure each time! Both Bodhi Honey and our 4-year-old loved the different sensations. We started by conquering some of the quicker, more intense slides. The Screamer was an absolute blast – true to its name, it's a short, sharp burst of speed that leaves you breathless and giggling. And the Wild Kamikaze? Oh wow, that one really gets your heart pumping with its three steep drops! Both kids were absolute troopers on these, though the Wild Kamikaze definitely isn't for the faint-hearted! We weren't quite brave enough to face the legendary Devil's Drop this time (it looks intense!), but it gives us something to aim for on our next visit. The tyre rides were a fantastic experience for the whole family. The Raging Rapids had us spiraling and spinning through twists and turns, with a wonderfully bumpy finish. Bodhi Honey particularly enjoyed the unexpected splashes. And the Surf Lagoon was a classic serpentine ride with plenty of twists and turns that really gave us a good tumble. It was so much fun to ride together and hear everyone's laughter. The mat rides, like the Sidewinder and Corkscrew, were also fantastic. The Sidewinder had us weaving through open and closed tubes, giving you glimpses of the sky before diving back into darkness – such a thrill! And the Corkscrew, despite its "shallow descent," definitely left us in a spin with its 360-degree turns. For a slightly gentler introduction, the Wet and Wild was perfect – still lots of twists and turns, but a great way to warm up to the bigger slides. Our 4-year-old, being just over 1m, was able to join in on so many of these and his excitement was infectious! When it was time for a break, Captain Lewey's Shipwreck Island was our go-to spot. It's such a vibrant and fun area, and it's surrounded by plenty of seating and sunbathing terraces, so we could really relax and soak up the atmosphere. We grabbed a hot food and drinks meal deal from Captain Lewey's for £8.95, and it was delicious and surprisingly good value. Plus, it's only a short walk from the toilets, showers, and changing rooms, which made life super easy. Just a quick heads-up: remember to bring a 20p coin for the lockers! It's important to note that for the main waterpark, riders need to be at least 1m tall and confident around water. Our kids fit the bill perfectly, and it meant they could enjoy almost everything the park had to offer. There's also a 20m long swimming pool in the heart of the park, which is 1.2m deep – perfect for a refreshing dip or just chilling out after all the excitement. Honestly, we had such a fantastic day filled with laughter, splashes, and unforgettable moments. Seeing Bodhi Honey so happy and engaged, and our 4-year-old so confidently tackling the slides, made it truly special. Splashdown Quaywest truly provides a brilliant day out for families. We're already planning our return trip!

Bodies of Water
Dartmoor National Park covers an expansive area of 954 sq km, offering various outdoor activities such as walking, horse riding, and rock climbing. The park also provides seasonal guided tours for visitors. Additionally, the nearby town of Bovey Tracey serves as a hub for arts and crafts, hosting the Devon Guild of Craftsmen and the Contemporary Craft Festival.
An unforgettable place where sheep wear leopard print and cows rule the roads. We visited Dartmoor National Park — and it felt like stepping into a slower, older rhythm of life. Rolling hills, heather, wind… and sheep with spotted wool that looked oddly like leopard-print leggings. They wandered freely, completely unfazed by people — like they owned the land. Cows strolled casually down the roads, and drivers patiently waited. It was funny at first, but totally normal here. We loved the ruins of ancient stone structures — covered in moss and filled with silence. Found a small waterfall hidden between rocks — a real gem. If you're looking for a place where nature follows its own rules — this is it. We'll definitely be back.

Did the 13 Tors day hike for Marie Curie Charity. Amazing views and people! Just need to prep gear, snacks, take all your rubhish with you, observe the byelaws and remember to use toilets!

Spectacular place, so much to see and do, if you like Tors, desolate moors, valleys with trees, reservoirs, lakes, streams, rivers and woods, then this is the place for you. Wonderful to see all the Dartmoor ponies and foals, cattle and sheep roaming free. Loads of walks from easy, to moderate, to hard ones, so many different Tors to see.. Lots of cycling tracks, and areas to go horse riding. The scenery is breathtaking. Plenty of pubs along the route to stop at for food and drink. Places to stop for picnics as so many car parks all over the moors. Stunning little villages around too. Well worth a visit.

Every time I visit England, I always love going back to Dartmoor. I first came here as a child, and it’s just as beautiful now as I remember. The hikes are great, whether you want an easy walk or something more challenging, and the scenery is stunning. Seeing the wild ponies and the wide open moors always makes it feel special. It’s one of those places I never get tired of visiting.
Sarah — Google review
I love this place with all my heart. I’ve walked across the moors countless times, and every time I go, it’s better than the last. Standing on top of Haytor Rocks feels like nature itself is running through my body like lightning.
Billy B — Google review
Wild, slightly windswept, exposed, grassy, treeless, and a lot of cute horses. Reminds me a lot of Forest of Bowland in Lancashire, but of course, with the granite, it is its own beast. The views are expansive, and it shuttles you between a handful of high, bumpy plateaus, then short fast dips into verdant hedgerowed hamlets, then back into windswept plateaus again. Perfect countryside for bike riding, and hopefully the suggested speed limits on the road are adhered to, as the straight roads do seem to encourage wild driving at times. I love the big descent down Pork Hill to Tavistock, and the one down to Exeter - and of course they are for great ascents too, nice and steady. Come to see the cute Dartmoor Ponies too - they’re very short and quite timid, like Shetlands without the attitude problems. but treat them with care, they still need to feel wild, not domesticated.
Gordon D — Google review
Bleak desolate and absolutely stunning! My first visit as a teenager; Dartmoor near Okehampton… it has pulled me back my whole adult life, my favourite place to hike! It has everything. It’s peaceful, interesting and makes you want to keep going back for more. It has a wealth of interesting things to see, old ranges, rock formations and plenty of wildlife. You can hike for days and still be just as blown away by the scenery. At certain times of the year you might even spot a few Army cadets from the local camp dotted around the area. If you’re looking for somewhere to hike, unwind and take a breath this area definitely doesn’t disappoint!

Dartmoor is a wonderful National Park to visit, just to look or walk. So much history. We are so lucky to have this on our doorstep. A great place to cycle, motorcycle, or even drive your car. Remember to bring protective clothing if you plan on walking, as the weather can change dramatically in little time. Enjoy seeing the wild ponies, but remember to never feed them, this encourages them onto the roads and increases the chances of accidents. Please also remember that the speed limit is 40mph, and for good reason. By far the majority of people adhere to the limit, but a few don't.

Tramways
Seaton Tramway is a charming heritage narrow-gauge tram line that spans 3 miles of unspoiled countryside in the Axe Valley, connecting Seaton, Colyford, and Colyton. The picturesque journey takes you through two nature reserves and offers stunning views of the River Axe estuary and its abundant wading bird life.
Lovely old world attraction that takes you through some picturesque countryside and ends up in the town of Colyton which is a nice place to wander around and grab some lunch. I would say not really suited to older children, but good day out for the family and you can get on and off all you like at other stops and make a full day of it! Well worth a visit!
Antony H — Google review
This attraction is so fun for everyone no matter your age. We visited with my Husband and had so much fun riding the tramways. The ride is around the countryside and the natural reserve with birds all around that are flying just above your head if you’re seated upstairs. It’s so beautiful! There’s few stops if you want to explore and coming back later. But there’s one where everyone has to come out in a small village. There’s a cafe, toilets and a souvenir shop. You can take the same tramway right away for the return or wait a bit to try another one. We tried a different tramway for the way back and decided to sit upstairs. It’s way more fun in our opinion but it’s nice to experience both. If you love old vehicles like ourselves you need to do it!

I don't give 5 stars often. Realy Nice . We started at the other end first as parking was realy good. (Furthest from Seaton ) im rubbish at remembering names. Getting there .... Trouble was we went the country road way to it . Hahahha blimey 🤣 . I think my sat nav was against me and used the narrowest roads out. City boys to Country Side folk . We do 60 on dual carriageway and can see infront they do that with hedges hitting each wing mirror blindfolded hahahha. We went in the wrong end so missed the sign posts. But thats part of the adventure isn't it. You must try Seaton Tramway. The staff are volunteers and passionate . We took our best mate and she was so welcome and of course had to sit downstairs 😀. There's an area on route where dogs are not allowed but you can understand why. We had a unlimited ticked but just used it to the end and back but best buy. Now we wished we stopped off some stops. Do it relax with the train track sound and enjoy the view. Our best mate was not sure what was happening on way but enjoyed the wind , but on the journey on the way back she was snoring 😴 😀 loved it

Lovely way to ride into Seaton. Caught the tram from the Clayton station and went passed some lovely sites. Wetlands looked an interesting stop but thought we'd carry straight onto Seaton and ran out of time to stop on the way back. Staff and facilities are brilliant. Highly recommended way to travel unto Seaton if you're visiting for a day.

Love it, we do a trip every autumn and enjoy the experience ever time, plus the dog can come to as she is welll behaved. A walk down to the end of the beach path and a great cafe awaits you with home made soup and delicious cakes.
Bowcreekbloomers — Google review
It's nice that an old railway line has been given another purpose. We had a nice ride down Colyton where we had a lovely cream tea at the very pretty station. The only thing for us was that we couldn't stop at the wetland stop as we had our dog. It would be good if there was more info on what to do at each stop, but was good to get a ride on a tram.
Mandy D — Google review
Everyone is right - Seaton Tramway lives up to the hype. It’s quirky, it’s cute, it’s ’different’. Enthusiastic staff operate charming old trams on a gorgeously scenic route up to Colyton. There’s something for the whole family here. Get involved.

Ride one of 14 trams in the fleet for three miles in one direction and back. A rover ticket allows you all day hoping on and off at any station. Dogs can ride but cant visit the nature reserve. Mind your head when on the trams as they are smaller than you think, but interesting.

Dartmoor Otters & Buckfast Butterflies is a wildlife center located near Dartmoor National Park, offering an immersive experience with various species of otters and tropical butterflies. Visitors can observe native British otters, playful Asian short-clawed otters, and large North American river otters in specially designed glass enclosures. The center also houses terrapins, leaf-cutting ants, and features a humid butterfly house where guests can learn about tropical butterflies.
We had a fantastic time at the sanctuary, It was a visually stunning and enriching experience filled with fascinating exhibits and a wonderful ambience. The garden is stunning, with beautiful flowers and relaxing pathways to stroll along. I loved the pond, watching the colourful fish swim by and the turtles. Overall, it's a wonderful place to spend a day exploring and enjoying nature and the otters. If you are lucky you might even see the train passing by The visit left us with lasting memories and a desire to return. It was truly a highlight of our day!
Oohlalalisa — Google review
Took my granddaughters here last week. They loved being in the butterfly house, especially when the butterflies landed on them and sat on their hands for ages. There are many to see flying in amongst the plants. There are also terrapins and an iguana which is billed as Izzy the green iguana but is bright orange! The otters however were a bit of a disappointment, even at feeding time. The keeper just put the food into the enclosure and it was not easy to see what the otters were doing. The girls got bored with it very quickly and went back to the butterfly house. There is a small cafe outside and you have to show your tickets again to get back in the butterfly house. There are only snacks of pasties or sausage rolls, but they were delicious. Ice creams and beverages also available. There is a larger eatery in the station area. Nice gift shop, lots of things for young ones, but not much for over 10s. Also items for adults. We spent 3 hours there so definitely a place worth visiting for a morning or afternoon but not a whole day.
Jenny W — Google review
A fantastic experience for all ages. The butterfly sanctuary is almost unique - there are few places that allow people to walk directly through an open habitat to find what they can. Two warnings - it is significantly more humid than the local area, and it can smell of the ripe/rotting fruit they feed on. The otters are beautiful and clearly well cared for, with platforms for viewing them above ground and in the nests below. I highly recommend arriving for feeding times to receive the guided tour of the different animals and ensure you see them at their most active. The entire experience was delightful and left children with new favourite animals
Hjikle — Google review
We booked to be an otter keeper for a few hours. Such a privilege to be up close and feed these beautiful creatures. Would highly recommend this interactive experience of a lifetime. Oh, and the butterfly house was good too.

I was brought an Otter experience for Christmas and it was absolutely brilliant. I don’t want to give too much away; embrace prepping their fish and bird-related feed; learning about the different Otters and then getting very close to a few for an hands on feeding experience. Plus we were introduced to a few other residents too. Still buzzing about it nearly a week on, loved it.
Sharon J — Google review
As a family we had an amazing time at the sanctuary, even in the rain. We done the otter experience which we highly recommend and would do again and again. They are adorable! There was a lot more involved in the experience than I thought it would be. Thank you again Lilly, we had an amazing time. The children are already asking to go again.

I am sometimes sceptical of small places but thought I’ll give it a crack. Well worth it. £35 for family of four so not too bad value. Lots of different butterflies and then lots of otters that are so cute. Make sure you stay for feeding and talk by the staff who are all friendly and approachable. Could have sat there all day watching the otters. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in it around the area.

Coleton Fishacre, a stunning 1920s country house now managed by the National Trust, offers visitors a glimpse into the glamorous Jazz Age. Nestled near Kingswear, this Arts and Crafts-style retreat was designed for Rupert and Dorothy D'Oyly Carte and exudes Art Deco charm. Guests can explore its vibrant rooms filled with music that reflects the family's connections to Gilbert and Sullivan. The property features an exotic garden that enhances its allure.
I'm making use of a National Trust membership that was gifted to me and so it's my mission to visit any in the areas I find myself in. So far Coleton Fishacre has been the most wonderful one yet. I really enjoy the homely feel of the house, it feels grand but not too grand if you know what I mean. It feels like it would be a very comfortable home and not too stately. The 1920s styling is superb. The staff and volunteers were friendly and helpful, on hand to answer questions and give a demonstration of the servants bell system. There are free lockers provided outside the building but under a covered driveway for leaving bags and backpacks. The gardens, my words won't do it justice. They are simply stunning in mid June, the colours, the water leading you downhill to the sea. Magical. The paths are all downhill towards the viewpoint on the cliffs and are steep in places. They'll put your legs, back and fitness to the test that's for sure. I had a coffee and the most delicious flapjack at the NT cafe, do stop by to build your energy either before or after the climb up and down the paths. A magical place that will stay in my memory as a highlight of my Devon holiday for a long time. The road there was very narrow with lots of passing points but can be a little unnerving for even experienced drivers, expect to have to reverse back to a passing point.

A very nice house with stylish 1920s–30s character, well worth a visit. Parking is easy and free for members. The house itself is interesting, and the grounds are beautifully kept, though being on a hillside means some of the paths are quite steep. The walk down to the cove is absolutely worth it for the views—though the climb back up is a bit of a challenge! The café has a good selection, with lovely-looking toasties and baked potatoes. I tried the pasty, which felt rather undersized and a little underwhelming in comparison, but otherwise it was a pleasant stop. All in all, a great day out.

My favourite national trust property. The house is interesting with fabulous views and information about the family. The garden is wonderful and has stunning views to the sea. Cafe was excellent too. On sunny days maybe get there early. Highly recommended. Can easily spend best part of a day here.

A truly beautiful and tranquil home that is nestled into the landscape. The house is in an exceptionally good condition and the National Trust has maintained it perfectly. Beautiful building, beautiful gardens and wonderful staff who are on hand to answer all of your questions.
The L — Google review
At the end of a narrow country lane you'll find this lovely 1920s property. It's national trust so the staff and volunteers are friendly and patient, the cafe is solid and affordable. House itself seems to have changed a little from last time. I remember the Gilbert and Sullivan connection being more prominent on my last visit about 12 years ago. Gardens are as beautiful as ever. Must visit if you like 1920s style and beautiful gardens. Maybe a little less interesting for smaller children
Jeroen W — Google review
Now this is more like it, nice house to look at and lovely gardens to walk around with some amazing views plus you can burn a few calories off climbing lots of steps (if you want to of course) ready for a relaxing coffee and cake treat. Definitely had a good day here 😁
Robert C — Google review
Absolutely love Arts and Crafts styling and architecture, so Coleton Fishacre was an easy choice for a trip out. It is the sort of NT property that you could easily live in and enjoy the superb garden. The planting style and bed construction is very similar to our own at Mowhay and we left with a few ideas. Food here was a little expensive but reasonable in quality. The walk back up from the South West Coast Path is quite steep in places so if you aren't too good on hills give it a miss, but actually all the garden you need is quite near to the house. Absolutely love the plant identification boards, great idea!

Outdoor Activities
Nestled in 33 acres of picturesque parkland just outside Plymouth, Dartmoor Zoo is a family-owned conservation and education charity. It boasts an impressive array of wildlife, including 72 types of mammals, 38 species of birds, 21 species of reptiles, and various invertebrates. The zoo offers seasonal events such as outdoor cinema screenings and evening classes on conservation and animal welfare.
We had our wedding at Dartmoor zoo in September 2025. Jade was very warm and welcoming and from the start made it a much less stressful experience. She answered questions and came up with solutions promptly. The team were accommodating with setting up our wedding and also clearing up after. We had an absolutely amazing wedding day and our guest all had a fantastic time. The meet the meerkats and falconry made it such a memorable day for everyone involved.

We were visiting the area and thought we’d stop in to Dartmoor Zoo as they are supposed to have one of the largest collections of big cats. The zoo wasn’t as big as we thought it might be, so you could easily walk around in half a day but it was still packed full with lots to see. We met a few volunteers working at the zoo who were extremely knowledgable and obviously had a great passion for what they did. We attended some of their talks which were very interesting. It was great to see lots of the animals and big cats up close. I would have given 5* but I think certain areas of the zoo perhaps need a big of TLC, and some of the enclosures needed updating, with some of the larger animals seemingly needing bigger enclosures with more enrichment.
Mel W — Google review
Great little Zoo, friendly knowledgeable staff. Don't go here expecting a massive Zoo with hundreds of animals, instead think of it as a more up close experience, the staff actually care for these animals it's not just a Saturday job so to speak, and as an added bonus they're not trying to sell you stuff every 10 paces. So why only 4 out of 5 stars I hear you ask, well....... Their coffee sucks, that is it plain and simple, you might like it I didn't. I had burger and chips from the Cafe, the burger was tasty and the chips were nice and crispy, my Mrs had Fish and Chips, the only thing she said was the fish could be a little bigger but I think we both agreed it is simple nice hot food which is all we wanted. Great job Dartmoor Zoo thank you.

This is a lovely little wildlife park, it's great for a morning or afternoon but not enough for us for the day. There's lot's of animals to see and information on them all. The staff are all so friendly. The disabled parking is inside the park up the hill. If needed you need to purchase your tickets then they will open the gates and you can drive in. There's a nice cafe selling light lunches as well as cakes. The animals all seem happy and well looked after although some of the enclosures could be larger. It does look like they are doing lots of work to improve this.
Hannah W — Google review
If you have a guest in a wheelchair, basically forget it. Hills all over the zoo. Parts of the pathways are not maintained, if a pathway at all. Only good part is parking for disabled, you get to park in the middle of the zoo. Animals could do with a bit more food in my opinion. Do have a variety of animals, but not many. Is great for younger children for a few hours.

It was a shame about the rainy weather but still didn’t want to leave!

The three-minute journey offers stunning views of the North Devon coast, making it a unique and memorable experience for visitors.
Great experience and some great views around the railway. Lining up may take some time as it is very popular, well worth s ride down the cliff to the bottom and then a nice area to walk around. Payments are taken at the bottom when you get off if you started at the top.

Loved the ride up and views beautiful. But it was very diffwalking back down. Its SO steep and no hand rails or such to support the very steep decline. Next time would take the ride back down. The shops are so quaint and it's very beautiful place to visit. We enjoyed it.The bay where the boats sit and the harbour are all lovely.Delicous ice cream parlours and plenty of Cafes or Pubs.

Lynton & Lynmouth a hidden gem on the North Devon coast that completely exceeded my expectations. Perched above the picturesque village of Lynmouth & Lynton offers stunning views, old-world charm, and a peaceful atmosphere that’s perfect for a relaxing getaway. The towns are full of character — from its historic buildings and quaint tea rooms to local art galleries and independent shops. It feels like stepping back in time, but with all the modern comforts you need. The streets are quiet, clean, and welcoming, and the locals are incredibly friendly and helpful. One of the highlights of my visit was the famous Lynton and Lynmouth Cliff Railway – a unique water-powered funicular that connects the two villages. The ride offers beautiful views over the cliffs and sea and is a fun experience for all ages. Another must-visit spot is Valley of Rocks, just a short walk from Lynton. The scenery there is absolutely breathtaking. There are plenty of walking trails, coastal paths, and cosy cafes to enjoy. Whether you’re into hiking, photography, or just want to unwind, Lynton & Lynmouth is an ideal destination. I left feeling refreshed, inspired, and already planning my next visit. Highly recommended for nature lovers and anyone wanting a peaceful escape by the sea.

Always love a visit here. The conductor on the railway was super kind with my 3 dogs (one of whom is blind). We had a lovely day and fab pasties (ofc). Sad I didn't get to try the vegan lobster tho, maybe next year.

This is a treasure! There's a lovely cafe at the top that serves huge scones with jam and cream, then you board the little train to descend from Lynton down to Lynmouth. The staff are friendly and the whole experience is charming. Definitely worth a visit for all the family including doggos 😊

Nice quick and easy way to go from one to the other. Views are amazing. Staff are friendly. Little souvenir in the box where you get tickets. Card payment only.

The Lynton and Lynmouth Cliff Railway is a true gem — charming, nostalgic, and surprisingly peaceful. The ride itself is short but absolutely delightful, offering breathtaking views over the coastline as you glide up and down between the two villages. It’s a lovely mix of old-world charm and clever engineering — powered entirely by water, which makes the experience feel even more magical. Both Lynton and Lynmouth have their own unique feel, and the railway is the perfect connection between them. Whether you’re into history, views, or just a wholesome experience, this little journey is a must. I could honestly ride it again and again . It’s one of those rare places that just makes you smile Tickets under £4

The Royal Albert Memorial Museum and Art Gallery, located in Exeter, is a must-visit attraction for anyone exploring the area. Housed in a stunning Victorian Gothic revival building, this world-class museum boasts over one million artifacts spanning art, anthropology, and natural history. Visitors can admire paintings by local and international artists, explore Devon's unique geology and fossil displays from the Jurassic Coast.
I'm really impressed. There are lots of different interesting artefacts from across time as well as the world. It's like the British Museum/Natural History Museum (but no dino skeletons) without the overcrowding of tourists or endless displays. This meant the children weren't overwhelmed and actually took in what they saw. Loved the quiet reading area. It was a nice break from walking around. My only wish was that the cafe could be open for longer during half term.

I don't usually give 5 stars out, but RAMM is well deserving of 5. Firstly, the admission is entirely free, which is always lovely. The exhibitions on show are fascinating to look at and learn about, and the staff are remarkably friendly. To top it all off, the café was unbelievably affordable, which is a marvellous addition. Therefore, if you are local and looking for a day out or simply in the area looking for something to do, it is a must do!

Awesome museum with free entry. This museum covers not just the natural history of the local area but also an extremely wide range of different exhibitions! A must see if you're staying in Exeter or the surrounding area. I visited twice in one week!
Ultimate G — Google review
The renovation work done on the museum was well worth the time and effort and there are lots of well thought through additions. The museum is vast so you could spend hours there but, as entry is free, I quite often just pop in to spend a few minutes in a lunch break or when waiting for the train (it is just next to Exeter Central Station). It is worth noting that there are lockers at the museum where you can leave your belongings while you walk round which is great for those who are passing by and perhaps have more bags etc that they would like! There is a wonderful model of Exeter within the museum which is so interesting to see and the taxidermy (although it might not be everyone's cup of tea) is also a big draw. The museum often has really wonderful exhibitions such as the BBC wildlife photographer of the year so there is always something new to see. I haven't eaten in the cafe there but have heard good things. Everything in the museum seems to have some sort of link to Exeter (however tenuous) & just gives a feeling of being there for the people. It was friendly & relaxed & the information is suitable for the younger/casual interest & also anyone who wants to read more about something. It's laid out in such a way that most of the rooms & exhibits 'flow' & connect together. You could probably spend half a day there (we ran out of time). However, the reviewers who've said the café is reasonably priced, probably come from a more expensive area than Exeter (personally we thought £6+ for a ciabatta & a bit of salad is fairly steep)
Madhu C — Google review
The staff are definitely the best thing about this place. The volunteers show a genuine interest in the exhibits and are very helpful. There's really lots to see in this museum, even if it is a bit like most other museums. Plenty of vases on display. All in all it's quite well run and well worth dropping in.

came here to start of my birthday as i do love going to the museum to see the animals and all and it didn’t disappoint it was much bigger than i thought it was so cool! i had so much fun i would definitely recommend you to visit!
Katie D — Google review
As other people wrote, this museum has a large collection of artifacts and specimens, and considering the size (someone wrote it is vast, but if you have visited the great museums of the world, you can’t quite call it vast), there is a lot of interest. I enjoyed the prehistoric portion of the museum because it complements my visit to Kents Cavern and the Jurassic Coast. I appreciated the sensitivity about the acquisition of many of the artifacts and the peoples they belonged to, and therefore was disappointed that no sensitivity was shown about the problems of hunting (and the resulting “taxidermized” animals). I mean, is it still so admirable that King George V shot a Bengal tiger (and donated it to the museum)? Wasn’t that whole hunting culture one of the reasons some of these beautiful species are endangered? (Hunting is still a threat to Bengal tigers, though conservation efforts have improved their situation in the past decade). The museum should have some comment about conservation efforts today.

This was a lovely museum to visit, telling the industrial stories of Exeter many years back! The manufacturing market of the likes of carpets and clothing is delved into, as is the expansion of the railways and how they entered the city. Love the exhibits with miniature trains and the old artefacts like books kept, geologic section is interesting with the relics and stuffed animals give an insight into life way before our time!

The South Devon Railway is a 19th-century valley steam railway that offers a scenic seven-mile journey along the River Dart between Buckfastleigh and Totnes. The railway features heritage rolling stock and provides disabled access with reserved spaces for wheelchair users. Visitors can explore the South Devon Railway Museum, enjoy a tearoom, and browse through a model and gift shop at the main station in Buckfastleigh.
Excellent all the way ! We enjoyed the Sunday afternoon tea experience ....fantastic quality . Great selection of finger sandwiches and savouries , freshly baked scones, and cakes. The staff were very attentive and friendly but not intrusive. The steam train experience is lovely as always . 10/10

A wonderful place to visit if you like Steam Trains. A pleasant ride and experience. We did not book and there was plenty of seats as there were several carriages. The museum has plenty of exhibits to look at. The shop is big and they have a large cafe. Great selection of tasty treats though note it's card only. Parking was not too bad.

A wonderful heritage steam railway line with a brilliant and well stocked model shop at Buckfastleigh Station. The volunteers and staff were friendly and knowledgeable. They helped people on and off the train with a smile. I enjoyed having a walk around the station, yard and the small museum at Buckfastleigh. The steam train ride to Totnes was a gentle trundle through the countryside pulled by a GWR Pannier tank loco and along the river Dart. A really enjoyable day out, if you're in the area check it out. I loved it but I do love trains!

Lovely day out on this heritage railway with views along the Dart Valley. Interesting exhibits at all 3 stations and a nice cafe and gift shop at Buckfastleigh. All the volunteers had smiles on their faces and clearly enjoyed what they were doing. Not a criticism but a suggestion, there was little or no signage at Buckfastleigh to direct you to the town centre If anyone wanted to go there. However on the Monday we visited, everywhere except one pub was closed.

Wife and I enjoyed the ploughman's lunch which was fantastic. The food was excellent and the service friendly and well orchestrated on the 1hr 30 steam train round trip. You can also use your ploughmans lunch tickets on the line all day. A small museum is worth the visit as well as the shop and cafe.

Blackpool Sands is a picturesque and sheltered shingle beach located in South Devon, far from the famous Blackpool in the north. Despite its name, this family favorite offers clear turquoise waters and a crescent sweep of tiny pebbles instead of sand. The beach provides sandpits for children to play in and offers various water sports activities such as kayaking, stand-up paddle-boarding, and windsurfing.
Such a beautiful beach. I think the best thing was that isn't any sand , just small and big pebbles but still very comfortable to sit and walk. The water was very clear and the beach has lifeguards on duty. The parking it's not crazy expensive and you have toilets and changing cubicle and also showers ( cold water only).

Great beach in a lovely setting. The beach is easily accessible from the car park. Paid parking is provided. It is not a sandy beach but a gravel one.
Jeroen S — Google review
Fab beach with easy parking, small stones that are easy to walk on, lots of water activities to enjoy and a Sauna to hire 💞👍🏼. What’s not to love. No horrible sand to get rid of afterwards either. 😅
Optimum T — Google review
Nice clean beach, well maintained, large car park, cafe on site. The waters edge is a good walk as the beach is so wide. Also shingle beach so take suitable footwear, no sand!!
Stefan S — Google review
The parking charges are a bit steep, but if you stay over 3 hours it's £9 for the day (as nest as I can tell). There is lots of parking which is well managed during the peak season. There is plenty of space on the beach and it is generally well sheltered. There are good food and drink options on site with plenty of picnic bench seating outside. It is really clean and tidy. A special call out for the board walk they have installed to get from the entrance to the front of the beach. Makes using buggies etc. much easier. Yes, the beach is not golden sand but fine shingle but complaing about that would be like complaining That the white cliffs of Dover were "too bright". The beach is a product of geography and geology.

Not sure about 'the ultimate beach experience' (like they say on the signs) but its pretty close 😁. Visited on the August Bank Holiday and its busy but definitely not Bournemouth busy. Its a very small pebble beach, so no sand getting everywhere but you can't make sandcastles. It shelves quite quickly into the water but it is RNLI patrolled. Great beach store for all the beach essentials. There's also a hire store for paddleboard and kayaks and even a free automated air pump for blowing up boards. Restaurant is really good and great value. Smash burger and fish burger were amazing.

Becky Falls Ancient Woodland Park is a picturesque destination that has captivated visitors for over a century. Nestled within ancient oakwoods, the park offers enchanting walking paths, boulder scrambling, and serene picnic areas. Families can enjoy encounters with various animals at the petting zoo, including rabbits, guinea pigs, Shetland ponies, and goats. The indoor theatre showcases an array of creatures from tarantulas to rescued birds of prey.
The number 1 activity from my children's perspective, during our visit to Torbay. They loved the trails, they especially loved the waterfalls and the mini zoo is an extra (although I personally felt the macaw needed a friend, it looks very lonely). Dog loved it too, will definitely go back. I know I went as a child, so it's great to have a beautiful spot for generations to keep enjoying.

We visited during the half term school holidays. We arrived at around 11:30am and was on site for around 3 1/2 hours. On arrival you can pay at the gate or can pre book online. Children under 4 go free. There is a short walk to the main entrance where you are welcomed by a picknick area which has a small cafe and girt shop. There is a selection of ice-cream, ice lollies, drinks, chips. There is small selection of animals you can feed such as goats and meerkat. Please be aware that you need to book and pay extra for the meet the keeper meerkat feeding experience. There is also a small building that has snake's, stick insects, cockroaches and a tarantula. There are 3 different trials to walk. The blue one is quick and easy to navigate through the woodlands. However, the red and purple trails are quite steep with different types of terrain. This is not suitable for any type of pushchair or wheelchairs. The ground can be wet and muddy, so decent footwear is advised. If you want to walk all three trails, you will need between 2-3 hours depending on your speed and skill. You can borrow a baby carrier if you require which is free of charge. The cafe and bench area did become quite busy at around 1pm. Overall, the visit was quite nice with very nice views of the water fall and stream that runs down.

Nice trial with animals in beginning. Nice for kids. You 3 options of trial.10mins, 30mins or 45mins. Anyone can go don't need extra shoes. In entrance you need to pay per adult 13.50 including car park.
Hossangui — Google review
Absolute little gem this one. They have 3 routes to walk around. Blue which is rather easy and for the kids. Then red and purple which show you the water falls. You need good grippy shoes on. We did all routes. And the people route is the hardest but you get some awesome views. Be prepared to have to scramble up some rocky surfaces so you need a bit of fitness for this. You are at times climbing up steep rocky areas but it is so much fun. Red Route a little easier but still some climbs to do. Then you have a great cafe and also animals to look around. Really really fun.
Rob H — Google review
One of the most amazing places to go in England, it is totally untouched beauty. Different trails to follow, nice coffee shop, easy to park. You can easily spend a day in there. I went middle of August and the weather was lovely.
Alexander R — Google review
An absolute beauty! I can strongly recommend it! We walked the basic route first, but our 12yr old daughter and myself were itching to climb some rocks and the waterfall, so took part of the red route too. Was so worth it. I do recommend outdoor trainers though! (I didn't have one as was last minute idea). Nice animals (meercats, macaw, goats, bunnies, chickens, skunk, owl) to see too and kids can feed them (need to purchase voucher). Food, ice cream, drinks in the caffee. The weather was a mix, but plenty of shades too on a sunny day if required. The woodland and the rocks are so tranquil and gives so much joy to young ones and older ones. If you are a bit more fragile, there is a route for that too. It's a must place to visit. 🤗
Katalin H — Google review
Visited not realising it was a pay for attraction, for the walk only I wouldn’t say its worth the entry fee but if you are a family the small zoo, shop and cafe and other activities probably make it worth the entry fee. The walk is good and the falls are interesting. The purple route is tough so take their advice and only do if fit and mobile.
Adrian B — Google review
A great outdoor activity with splendid walk among humongous rocks and a cute little animal encounter with goats, rabbits, skunks( all safe)) , a giant blue macaw. There is a place to park as well as have something to eat.

Torquay's Dinosaur World is an interactive indoor exhibition located in the Torquay Harbour district, just a short walk from Torre Abbey Beach. The exhibition features life-sized dinosaur replicas, fossils, and a craft room for kids to enjoy. It's a great option for a rainy day activity, offering plenty of photo opportunities alongside the scaled dinosaur models and various activities to keep youngsters engaged while learning about prehistoric creatures.
Stumbled across this great little place while we was visiting the town. Have a 9yr old daughter & 3yr old son. My daughter loved the activity sheet, there was two different sheets one was easy and one bit more challenging. My daughter really enjoyed going round and finding the answers and so did my husband. We have visited plenty of dinosaur attractions and this was one I would love to come back to again. The variety of dinosaurs and information was great to see. A lot of opportunities for the kids being able to sit/stand and have their pictures took with different dinosaurs and having the fun of shifting through sand to find bones/fossils. The little activity room was a really nice touch where they can look at books or colour. Great little place, and both the gents we spoke to today were very friendly. Would definitely recommend.

My son loves dinosaurs! We were on holiday with the family the last week of august and came across Dinosaur world! We couldn’t wait to visit.. We were welcomed by great, friendly staff and on entry were given a task sheet to fill in as we went around which made the visit really interesting! The place is fantastic for keen dinosaur fans… the model dinosaurs are amazing and life like! It makes you feel like you are totally submerged in Jurassic world! There is plenty to do, see and feel… my son loved stroking all the dinosaurs, and all the little light boxes that you look into and all the teeth you can touch! He loved digging around in the sand for fossils too… There is so much to do here for the very reasonable asking price… but definitely get the task sheet as it makes it very interesting… if you get the answers correct you get a sticker and certificate to prove you are a master dinosaur expert! Adults will love it to… we will defo return on our next visit! Thank you dinosaur world!
David G — Google review
Visited this place with my grandkids recently at a cost of £35.99 (two adults and two children). My grandchildren said they both liked it, so for that reason, all good. However, the tour itself took about an hour if you take your time and the dinosaurs are all plastic and mostly small toy like on front of photos and crafted landscapes, with the exception of a few larger ones. There are interactive areas where you can move sand from buried fossils and also a short paper quiz, for the children. In all, I'm not sure it's worth the cost and the plastic dinosaurs were a little disappointing, but the kids liked it, so not so bad.

We had a fantastic time at the Dinosaur world. So much so we came back in the same day! Lots of engaging exhibits, interactive displays, attention to detail, fab models that you can touch and feel. Plus the staff are really friendly and helpful. The shop is lovely and reasonably priced. Would come again!
Stephen O — Google review
More or less what could be expected - dinosaurs, and lots of them! The information available was light, with more focus given to plastic and fibreglass but ultimately realistic looking dinosaur models that complimented a few fossils. The museum was much more interactive than most though, with invitations to touch, sit on or stick your head into multiple exhibits - great for children and Instagram loving parents. The standard fossil hunting sandpits and an imaginative Jurassic Park diarama were also enjoyed. Perhaps not a place to visit repeatedly, but certainly happy we went. 1 star lost purely because of the price - while not too expensive, it was a lot for the size of the exhibition that took less than an hour to fully appreciate
Hjikle — Google review
Provided you understand what the attraction entails, I don't think you'll be disappointed. This is better than similar dinosaur attractions my family have visited along the coast. Staff were friendly, knowledgeable and interacted well with my difficult children. We enjoyed the quiz sheets provided and the facts displayed throughout. The exhibits made it clear which dinosaurs you could touch /sit on, versus those you couldn't, which is a simple touch but enhanced the experience.

Would highly recommend for a day out. We had a fabulous day. All the staff were so fun and helpful. We especially appreciated Gracie's help on the high wires...and the lady who was inn charge of canoes was so fun too (didn't make a note of her name sadly). ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The Best Campsite Ever! We spent the weekend at Riverdart Country Park for Oktoberfest and honestly had the best time! The atmosphere was fantastic – great food made with locally sourced meat (from less than half a mile away!) and a lovely, friendly team who made everyone feel so welcome. The woodland play areas are a real highlight – perfectly maintained, full of adventure, and such a beautiful setting to sit back and watch your children play. Even the grown-ups couldn’t resist the zip lines! The camping pitches are huge, giving you loads of space to relax, and the shower facilities are spotless and well looked after. Everything about the park feels cared for and thoughtfully managed. We’d definitely recommend bringing wetsuits if you plan to get stuck into the Jolly Pirate ship or the jump pools.. Can’t wait to visit again – Riverdart Country Park really is the best campsite we’ve ever stayed at!

The Golden Hind Museum Ship in Brixham is a popular attraction, offering visitors the chance to explore an exact replica of Sir Francis Drake's famous ship. The crew, dressed in authentic Tudor costume, provides an immersive experience of what it was like to sail around the globe on this historic vessel. In addition to the museum ship, Brixham offers other family-friendly attractions such as a life-size pirate ship museum and the outdoor seawater lido at Shoalstone Pool.
I was initially reluctant to come aboard this ship as I thought it would be gimmicky and lacking any sort of integrity, however, this was quickly dispelled soon after boarding and seeing that it’s actually very well put together! The digital guide is indeed in depth, the below decks are well made and you do genuinely get a sense for what it must have felt like. It now has an Airbnb attached to it as well which seems like an interesting stay!

Great ship, not very expensive to go and see. It's great for kids to go. If you scan the QR code on your phone, it takes you to an audio guide, which is very informative.
Jonathan C — Google review
I spent more than an hour exploring this museum ship, and found it to be both educational and fun! Bought my ticket at a little kiosk just in front of the ship, where you can also buy themed souvenirs. Admission is £8.95 for an adult, £6.95 for a child or a senior, and a family of four can get a combined ticket for £24.95. The tour is self guided, but there's an optional audio guide included in the price of your ticket that you can play on your smartphone, accessed via a QR code on the ship. I boarded the Golden Hind - a replica, but a very convincing one! - along a gangplank. It's a well constructed vessel with cannons, artefacts, and furniture specially created to look just how the originals would have looked. Some good audio-visuals, waxworks, and interactive displays. There was lots of printed info about Sir Francis Drake's adventurous life and voyages, his crew, the food they ate, medical treatments, punishments, piracy, and the unbelievably harsh conditions they endured on board. Be aware that you'll have some steep steps to climb to get to the upper decks and Drake's cabin, and some even steeper steps to negotiate to go down below decks where you'll also have to mind your head. There are fantastic views of the town and harbour from the upper decks, and wonderful photo opportunities! I liked the fact that I could explore the ship at my own pace. I thoroughly enjoyed my visit, and learned a lot about both Drake and this fascinating period of our history. Definitely worth a look!

We stayed the night on The Golden Hind - it was AWESOME!! Proper inner child stuff for adults and the actual kids loved it. Couldn't recommend it more.

Well what can I say about this fantastic ship. I must say if it was up 2 hubby we wouldn't of gone on once seeing the price. Think for 2 adults and child plus a hat and sword it was around £25. We entered on the ship thinking it would just be the top deck you explored but no its the whole of it. I can honestly say I don't know who had more fun us or our little one who didn't want to get off and also wanted to go back on everyday. We loved finding the little stamps and getting our little price at the end of it. Would highly recommend this x

Florin I — Google review
All the time I lived locally I never bothered to go on this ship, I always assumed it was a walk around the deck. However, now I live away and have a 2yr old boy who is into pirates and keen to go on board I figured why not…. And glad I did! You have to pay via the cabin at the front where you’re given permission to jump aboard. The first 10 mins is spent exploring the upper decks and the Captain’s quarters which is both fun and interesting. One thing I would say is if you’re not good with ladders or very steep stairs then maybe give this a swerve as they can be very, very steep… as to be expected really! You get to go below decks which I never realised before, lots to take in and great for kids! You can also sort of walk the plank which is a laugh. If you’re with kids then I’d say deffo go for it, you might even get some treasure at the end!

A thoroughly enjoyable excursion around this famous and iconic ship. The information and facts on-board add to the overall experience, helping to bring it to life and cement the knowledge gained during the visit. You get a real sense of life on-board this 500 year old ship. Great way to learn and explore.

brilliant place for the kids and family with a great walk round the lake and ice cream place between the park and lake. 👌

Lovely day out. Beautiful lake to walk around, big green space to play or enjoy a picnic. Huge fenced in play area with a wonderful splash zone. Carpark near the play park very busy on a sunny day but loads of spaces round the otherside of the lake carpark. Kayaks & paddleboards available to rent to go on the lake & seemed very reasonably priced.

Went one evening, plenty of parking and lots of space for a walk. The circular walk around the lake was good. Perfect for a dog walk.

Very easy to recommend if you have little ones - nice walk around the lake, good playground & great SplashPad. Decent facilities too, although they were very low on vegan food unfortunately (but what they had was good)

This really was a majestic find for us! My wife and I enjoyed the scenery and autumnal foliage as well as the critters bounding about! The park offers some tremendous views of nature, very welcoming trails, and plenty of practical space for games and playgrounds for all ages. Most arresting to us were the swans that graced the lake. They and the ducks were very reasonably friendly and great for adding more tranquil ambience to the park. Pleasant people and gorgeous nature, we were right at home! Highly recommended!

Never been here before and came on an organised doggy walk. It's more than just a park, an interesting and varied nature reserve too. Lakes, streams and woodland. Bonus of loos and a coffee outlet. Downside- pay to park but its quite reasonable.

A great day out for all generations. It has woodland walks and nature trails surrounding a well maintained lake. There’s a childrens playground, which is enclosed where dogs are not permitted for health and safety reasons. A large playing field is also open. Small fee car parking, and public toilets along with a kiosk selling snacks and drinks. Opening times depend on the season.

Located on the western edge of Dartmoor in Devon, England, Lydford Gorge is a natural wonder and a hidden gem. Managed by the National Trust, it offers free entry to members and features the deepest river gorge in the South West. Visitors can marvel at the 27-meter-high White Lady Waterfall and experience the thundering water of Devils Cauldron as it cascades into deep pools below.
A wonderful place to visit. There is ample parking. A great cafe on site and the walk down to the waterfall was a mixture of magical and mystical. Make sure you hold those handrails!

Lydford Gorge is pure magic towering trees, rushing streams, and the breathtaking White Lady Waterfall. The Devil’s Cauldron roars with raw power, making the walk thrilling and unforgettable. A bit steep in places, but well worth it. A true Devon gem!

Very nice walk through the gorge and woods. Didn't see alot of people, so was very quiet for most of the walk apart from the birds and running water.

Beautiful waterfall and paddling area. Scary side cliff walks. But great for climbers. Alternative straight path options. I found the cafe very expensive. The staff on entrance were very welcoming and informative. Beautiful area of outstanding beauty. Quite a journey by bus. But can be done.
Joy — Google review
Not the average National Trust visit! This waterfall viewing walk includes an incredibly fun path up through the gorge. This is very exposed and slippery in places, there is a hand rail but no safety fence between you and the fast flowing water below so might not be suitable for misbehaving children and dogs. I completed the full circular walk with a baby on my back so not too dangerous but a challenge none the less and extremely beautiful throughout. I enjoyed it very much and will definitely visit again.

World of Country Life is an indoor/outdoor park that offers a variety of attractions for visitors. The farming museum provides an interesting look into agricultural history, while vintage vehicles and old shops showcase the past. Visitors can also interact with animals, including feeding goats and enjoying cuddles with various creatures. The deer train and birds of prey flying show are particularly exciting experiences for all ages.
Highly recommend this place, we were staying in Sandy Bay right next door so was very convenient too. We visited with a almost 2 year old and a 5 year old and there were lots to do for them!. The staff on arrival were very pleasant and friendly, and all around the park too. The Deer train was great and was very fun feeding the deers. the Hawkridge Bird show was great and the ladies running it were fantastic, very friendly and had a chat with us at the end. my husband paid to hold an Eagle and my daughter held an Owl. well worth the money was a great experience to do. they were beautiful birds! the food in the cafe was excellent and fair priced. my daughter did the small animal handling with the rabbits and guinea pigs. staff were friendly and were fair with everyone who wanted to have a hold. The museums were great and really interesting and the soft play areas were clean. if you are looking for a day out with the kids, this is the place to go. :)
Sarah — Google review
Such a brilliant place. My partner and I came here with my sister, brother in law, niece and nephew on a sunny Saturday in June and I think we had as much fun as the kids! A great balance of museum (although you feel old when you see a bedroom from the '80s in a museum, haha), play areas, animals, fun and education. The staff were absolutely brilliant, so fun, engaging, and enthusiastic, always happy to help and chat, especially one larger than life member of staff called Nick. Plenty of play areas, inside and out, the kids loved them. Timed events - there's always something going on and time went so quickly. Animal handling, ferret racing, bottle feeding lambs, walking a goat, bird of prey display. Plenty of hand washing facilities. The animals look well looked after and you can feed most of them with the free animal feed they give you at the entrance. We didn't book in advance online but didn't have to wait long in the queue to get in. We took our own packed lunch, and left it in the car and were allowed out to get it. Plenty of benches to eat it on. Free water available to refill drinks, but we did also buy soft drinks there. We bought 6 ice creams at £16 which i thought was quite reasonable compared to some places I've been. Free onsite parking with plenty of space. Definitely worth paying an extra £2.50 to go on the deer train, that was the highlight of our day. What a wonderful place. Kids and adults had a great day out.

Such an amazing place to visit. Has to be one of our favourite attractions around - so much to do and see. All the events are fantastic and every member of staff is lovely. The animals are well cared for. Whenever we visit my daughter and I can’t stop grinning, thank you to everyone here. To John and his wife especially - your enthusiasm really shines through and you make a world of difference. Ferret racing is still hilarious after the 10th time, and the deer train is a unique experience.
Sam L — Google review
Very interesting place. Especially for those interested in old vehicles. Very impressive collection of old cars. We loved the exhibition of old farming machinery and how high streets used to look like. So much to learn about recent history and daily living! We took a ride on the deer train which was also very enjoyable:)
Kasia U — Google review
We found the whole experience wonderful from start to finish. The oldie farming vehicles were particularly of interest as we live in a rural community. Feeding and walking the goats was as good as it gets and what a thrill everyone had in feeding the herd of deer by hand as well as the odd llama or two. The deer train ride was very informative from the highly energetic and enthusiastic John who also appeared as compare for the ferret racing. He was very helpful throughout our visit. The bird of prey demonstration appealed to all ages with the little ones being kept on their toes by the youthful nature of the birds. There was ample health and safety messages and plenty of hand washing facilities on site. It was a lovely day all round and we would love to re- visit when down this way again.

Nestled in the picturesque North Devon, Arlington Court and the National Trust Carriage Museum is a delightful destination that beautifully marries history with nature. This elegant Regency house, once home to the Chichester family for over five centuries, features an inviting interior filled with eclectic collections like seashells and model ships.
Arlington Court and its National Trust Carriage Museum proved to be a wonderful day out, even during a rainy Easter visit. The expansive grounds offered beautiful landscapes to explore despite the wet weather, showcasing the estate's natural charm in all conditions. The Easter-themed activities scattered throughout the property were a highlight, providing entertainment and engagement for our two children at every turn. These thoughtful touches made the experience special and memorable for families. The National Trust Carriage Museum was particularly impressive, offering fascinating historical exhibits while still maintaining child-friendly elements that kept younger visitors interested and involved. The collection of carriages provides a unique glimpse into transportation history that visitors of all ages can appreciate. Facilities throughout were clean, well-maintained, and accessible, making the visit comfortable for all guests. The staff members were predominantly friendly and helpful, enhancing the overall experience with their knowledge and assistance. We took a break in the tea room to enjoy some refreshments, which provided a pleasant respite from our explorations. While the cakes might benefit from a slight improvement in moistness and the pricing could be more aligned with portion sizes, it was still an enjoyable part of our visit. Arlington Court truly shines as a versatile destination that delivers a quality experience regardless of weather conditions. The beauty of the grounds, the educational value of the museum, and the family-friendly atmosphere make it a destination well worth visiting again. Highly recommended for families looking for an engaging day out that combines history, nature, and fun activities.

Beautiful gardens. Really nice tearoom and outside eating area. Volunteers all really knowledgeable and helpful. Really enjoyed the craft demos by two local artists on Saturday 19th July. My main reason for visiting that particular day.

Lovely family day out and as with a lot of National Trust properties lots of activities for the kids included. Archery, circus games, lovely walk down to the lake and back in a big circular route. Lots of food and drink locations and both sandwiches, pasties, sausage rolls and main meals. Carriage museum was very informative and lovely to see.

Great house to visit. Amazing staircase with neo classical pillars. An incredibly well preserved tapestry. Arrived too late for the carriage museum but the walled garden was a great surprise. The apple tunnels were impressive.

What a great discovery! Arlington Court offers a perfect blend of history and nature. The Regency House felt so homely and was full of amazing collections and eccentric treasures left by the last owner, Miss Rosalie Chichester. If you love walking, the estate is brilliant. We took one of the paths through the woodland and parkland, which was so peaceful and expansive. It truly is a beautiful and quiet corner of Devon. Highly recommend stopping for a treat in the tearoom too!
Cholticha K — Google review
Apart from trying to find the place as its all minor roads the walk from the car park took a couple of minutes and there was a nice cafe. The house was in very good condition, the Carriage museum was also quite interesting too, but you were not allowed to touch anything, it would have been nice to have had one you could climb on or sit inside, didn't see all of it, but they put on extra things for the children and the weather was excellent on the day.
John D — Google review
Spent a few hours here last week whilst on holiday in North Devon. It's a really beautiful place to walk and chill. We bought sandwiches and drinks from the cafe and ate them on the grass as they have a problem with wasps this summer... but apart from the cafe area we didn't see any more. We sat by the pond for ages watching the fish and there were birds (not sure if they were House Martens, Swallows or Swifts), swooping down and either drinking or catching insects from the surface. Beautiful flowers in the gardens. The carriage museum is really interesting too. We'd go back again and do longer walks next time too.
Carolyn B — Google review

Amazing place. My partner and I live in the area from few years now but we never been in here. The place is calm, huge and breathtaking. There is a look up point of all the Bay (Torbay) really spectacular. It is ideal for whoever want to do hiking. There is a little coffee and lots space for dogs. We left the car close by the residential houses and walk to Berry Head but there is parking close by the place. We have a long walk and it took us half hour each way but I recon you can reach the place quicker then half hour. On the way there were plenty of birds: wood pigeon, robin, pheasant, magple, crow.. etc Same of these birds were happy to come close to us as we were passing by. This place could be ideal if you looking for same peace, calm and of course a View.

This is a most spectacular place to visit! Beautiful rugged cliff edge landscapes with evidence of the old fortifications. Wildlife in abundance... we are birders and were blown away by the birds we saw. There is something for everyone here.. if you just want to amble around fine, if you want to bird watch fine, if you want to walk your dog, jog, picnic... no problem. The cafe serves exquisite food and drink at reasonable prices and despite the queue it was fast table serviceboth inside or out. We can't wait to come back again 🤗.

Canonteign Falls, nestled in the heart of Devon's Teign Valley within Dartmoor National Park, is a hidden gem boasting both natural and man-made waterfalls. The falls cascade down ancient rock formations into tranquil lakes, creating a spectacular woodland scenery. This Victorian folly is surrounded by private parkland and features a magical fern garden with ancient tree ferns and a unique 11 ft Willow dinosaur.
If you're in the area, this is an absolute must-visit. The attraction is reasonably priced, very well maintained, and packed with fascinating historical facts along a thoughtfully designed one-way route. The walk takes about an hour and involves a fair number of steps and inclines, so it may not be ideal for those with limited mobility. However, for those who can manage it, the journey is incredibly rewarding. There are engaging features along the way, especially for children, making it a fun and educational outing for families. Before you begin, take a moment to relax by the café — the pond views are peaceful and scenic, and if you're lucky, you might even spot some baby ducks! The real highlight, though, is reaching the top, where the views of the waterfalls are simply breathtaking. Photos just can’t capture the scale and beauty of it. I would recommend booking in advance during the busier seasons to guarantee entry. Overall, a wonderfully curated adventure that combines nature, history, and thoughtful design. Highly recommended!

What a wonderful, varied and unexpected treat. This place has something for everyone. The climb up to the top of the falls is quite challenging for older slower limbs but I managed it fine. The view is spectacular. Then, after a good lunch break, we visited the Lower Lakes with artwork, poetry,m a henge and more. Beautiful. Well worth your time.

Lovely to visit especially in the autum. Steep prices and to pay a pound for a map was cheeky. Restaurant also expensive. I do understand that they are an isolated location and have a large maintenance bill however. Would recommend but not for elderly people who cannot walk far if they want to see the waterfalls.

We visited on Monday & what a wonderful experience. Fabulous staff, such a pretty, well cared for environment with beautiful views. lots of shaded woodland, cool ferns & the sound of thundering water, perfect for this scorching weather. The walk is not for cissies! We were so pleased with ourselves for reaching the top 🥳 (66yrs of age) but so worth the effort. We felt we earned our delicious Devon cream tea. I had the savoury, cheese scone - hot from the oven, with cream cheese and an onion marmalade with proper loose leaf tea in a innovative little teapot. My husband had the traditional with jam and cream, equally delicious. Then we strolled round the lovely gift shop before making our way home. Highly recommended. We used a Virgin Experience voucher given to us by our family. Next time, we'll go for the afternoon tea option with sarnies etc, they also do a doggy afternoon tea!! 😀 Amazing place....

Such a wonderful place to spend a day. I visited with my family (ages ranging from 80 - 5), and we all managed and enjoyed the fantastic hike up to the top of the falls. It was probably more challenging than we expected but thoroughly worth the effort. Lots of cute and imaginative things and natural wonders to entertain the children on the walk, and a beautiful view at the top. The staff in the shop and cafe were so friendly and the food was tasty. We went during Oct half term and did the pumpkin trail. There were families walking alpacas during our visit and we got to stroke them and chat to the owners. Highly recommend this gem for all ages.

Exploring the Underground Passages in Exeter is like stepping back in time to the medieval era. These intriguing subterranean tunnels, which date back to the 14th century, were originally constructed to transport clean drinking water from nearby springs into the city. As you wander through these historic passageways, you'll uncover tales of war, siege, and even plague that shaped this vibrant city. The passages are a unique feature of Exeter's infrastructure and represent Britain's only remaining medieval water system.
Absolutely brilliant!! We had Helen and she made it a thoroughly enjoyable experience, very knowledgable and entertaining ! Would recommend this experience for anyone coming to Exeter! I went to the Exeter Underground Passages, on Sunday 14th September 2025. There is a good, little, free museum, with realistic replica passages, if you want to get a glimpse of what the passages are like. After seeing the museum, I decided to take the tour. Adult ticket - £9. Prior to the tour there was a short informational video, which was good and useful. The tour lasted 30+ minutes. Helen did a good job guiding us, with some useful information. I thought it was worth the money. A good bit of niche history, ie getting clean water to the city, which made me reflect on conditions for most people back then. As well as the history, it was pretty exciting being down there. The passages are well lit, but they are quite small, as so a bit of an adrenaline rush, pushing the comfort boundaries 😉 I would recommend this tour.

Visitors can purchase feed to interact with the birds during their visit. The park also offers the opportunity for children to become Junior Keepers for a day.
Stopped here en route to Exeter with the grandchildren and thoroughly enjoyed our visit. Not a massive park, rustic in style and a little unkept but one where the more you wander and look the more you discover. Grandchildren loved the zebras, peacocks and Ostrich. Would definitely return.

A lovely little wildlife park with lots of different animals, and plenty to see and do there. There are a couple of play areas for kids, as well as a picnic area and somewhere to buy refreshments. It was very hot weather when we went and we did struggle to find shaded areas at times (some of the animals looked very hot too!) but we got by, having an ice cream to cool down! Ticket prices were very reasonable and it was fairly quiet when we went (a Tuesday in mid July) and we didn’t have to queue to enter at all. I believe we spent a bit under two hours at the park in the end. A lovely day out for the family!

Absolutely beautiful wildlife park, set out really nicely, it kept us all occupied for hours. The animals all looked very well and cared for, and the experiences in the education centre were lovely. Lots of seating areas and play areas, a fantastic value family day out and will come back soon!

Absolutely fantastic little wildlife park. Lots of animals we've never seen or heard of. Laid out well and great value for money. Can't believe we haven't found it before. Definitely recommended for the young and old. Well done to all the staff 👏 we will definitely be back soon 👍 😀
Yan H — Google review
Lovely lady at front desk but otherwise left feeling sorry for the animals, as we walked around we could hear other families expressing the same concerns. I understand times are tough for businesses but please reconsider reinvesting into the park and the size of enclosures for your animals… Particularly when farm at the back provides 5x the space for sheep compared to animals such as Manned wolves. Overall the park looks like it’s struggling with upkeep. Really do not enjoy leaving reviews like this but I’m hoping it is considered and recognised. Thank you.

Great little place to visit for a few hours. Nice variety of small animals, birds, reptiles etc. Watch out for the cheeky peacocks jumping onto the food tables haha. Imagine it would be very busy during the summer.
Jules — Google review
We had a great time. We stayed at Waymouth on holiday and decided to give Axe Valley a try, it only took 50mins via the coast. The staff were very helpful and pointed things out in the area. The park is on the smaller side but that didn't stop us from having fun. The little ones thoroughly enjoyed "Guinea pig fishing" and the animals were lovely. Would recommend a visit!
Ollie D — Google review
Took my animal mad son to visit plenty of free parking food & drinks on site a very well kept well maintained park the enclosures was all clean with plenty of enrichment for the animals who are very well cared for easy access around park plenty of play areas and to see the beautiful free roaming peacocks is delightful had a lovely day out

Nature & Parks
Burgh Island is a small tidal island known for its Art Deco hotel, pub, and scenic footpaths that offer stunning views of the ocean. The iconic 1930s white building of Burgh Island Hotel features 25 ensuite guest bedrooms and suites, two restaurants, a sauna, and a billiards hall. It's a popular destination for those seeking fine dining experiences at seafood restaurants, bistros, brasseries, food pubs, and cafes in the nearby area of Bigbury on Sea.
Island of Mysteries (BURGH ISLAND): Exploring the Beach and Secrets of Burgh Island. A tidal island on the coast of South Devon in England near the small seaside village of Bigbury-on-Sea, with picturesque beach and scenic views. Visitors can walk across the causeway at low tide or experience a unique sea tractor crossing when the tide is high. The island is strongly associated with Agatha Christie, who used it as inspiration for her novels "And Then There Were None" and "Evil Under the Sun." The Art Deco Burgh Island Hotel's design is a standout feature, offering a glimpse into the past. A must-visit charming island!🏝️
Maria S — Google review
Another favourite place for us to visit. Access to the island is via tidal causeway across the sand or by sea tractor when the tide is in. Access to the hotel is prohibited (guests only) but you can walk around the island. There's the Pilchard Inn Pub where you can get a pint or something to eat. The island is famous and has starred in many movies and TV shows. Probably best known as the setting of Agatha Christie's "Evil Under The Sun"
Andrew H — Google review
We did walk across to the island at low tide and was quite surprised at how wide the beach was. I do remember David Suchet, Hercule Poirot on TV back in 2001. I must say it's a beautiful place.
David A — Google review
It is one of the best places to visit in the area. Check the tide chart and plan accordingly the time of arrival and departure from the island. There is a great fireplace in the pub. On a bright day the vistas from the top of the hill are not to be missed. The car park is a bit of a gamble, but there is overflow parking as well. Enjoy.
Orlin H — Google review
A great hotel and inn. Always accessible even at high tide, because of the coolest tractor.
Mark L — Google review
Oh my goodness, we found this place by accident and it was worth it. The view to come to this place is to die for. There are a lot of places for you to park your vehicle. Many locals come here to walk their dogs. You don’t have to pay to come to the island. Having said that when the tide is in you might have to use a local transport provided to cross the sea to the island and it’s pretty nifty it is a family friendly place to visit. The island itself is pretty small, but it has a great view and it’s worth it for you to climb the top of the hill to see the surrounding area.
Shane — Google review
Pick a day with low tide about 1pm. Just walk across to this impressive island & enjoy a pint or a wak to the top of the island. Only part of the island is reserved for hotel guests. The bay has a fantastic beach. At buisy times use the £5 all day field car park & walk down rather than fighting to find an official parking space next to the beach. Beautiful place worth the winedy road drive.
Kev D — Google review
Great place to visit. We walked around the island and enjoyed take-out coffee watching the world go by. Fabulous coastal walks.

The museum boasts an extensive collection of exhibits, including maritime models, archaeological finds from the Napoleonic fort at Berry Head, and reconstructions of a Victorian parlour and nursery. Fantastic museum of local history with exhibits. Only opens for a short time. So two visits recommended. Its free so make a donation to keep the place going.

Small volunteer run museum of Brixham history. Packed with interesting and informative exhibits of local links to Fishing/shipping, smugglers & pirates, the railways and the World Wars. Several interactive bits and a play area for smaller children. Free entry with a shop in the entrance, Friendly staff happy to help. Overall a great little place to visit and spend an hour.

A brilliant place packed with lots of interesting items. The two ladies who work there were so kind and helpful, especially with my 3 year old son. They are a credit to the museum. I’m not from the area and was made to feel so welcome so we will definitely be back when we next visit Brixham. There are lots of toys on the top floor and dress up clothes which my son thoroughly enjoyed.

Tiverton Museum of Mid Devon Life is a treasure trove of the region's history, showcasing a wide array of exhibits that delve into the area's rich heritage. Visitors can explore collections featuring the "Tivvy Bumper" GWR steam engine, local industries such as lace making, farm wagons, and agricultural history. The museum also offers insights into the everyday life of Mid Devon residents.
This is such an essential experience for anyone visiting Devon. It covers everything since prehistoric periods with an emphasis on how people lived. Open the whole year with Tourist Information also on offer, it hugely added to my enjoyment of visiting Devon.

I took a star off for the ridiculously high entry fee. It is a bit better than some similar museums, partly due to the whapping great locomotive and good display style. We were served by lovely volunteers, making the fees even more hard to swallow. Most 'competitors' are free entry! I can imagine that locals and schools etc pay little but putting the burden on outsiders is even more unfair. If you value it so, pay for it, Tiverton.
Mike S — Google review
Museum is pretty good. Some interesting exhibits. Felt a little pressured when arriving to pay the higher entrance fee so they could get gift aid. I said I would pay higher on one and the other the lower without gift aid. Both ladies at the reception wanted me to pay higher on both. It was uncomfortable as they both talked at me at once. I had to out and out say I could only afford to pay higher on one. We got through the museum pretty quickly as my daughter is autistic and sometimes we aren’t long at places, it happens. Then both ladies passed comment on how quickly we went through. It felt a little uncomfortable again and we didn’t want to hang about looking at the gift shop. My daughter is very conscious of her difficulties and it made her feel bad. The lady watched us expectantly for an answer as to being so quick. We paid and surely it’s our business how fast we want to be.
Melissa S — Google review
I didn't expect much of this small museum, but how wrong I was. Much bigger than I thought and with an incredible amount of exhibits. There's even a steam locomotive in a large shed in the courtyard. I didn't allow enough time, so will definitely be back. The volunteers deserve credit for a tidy and well organised museum space. There is a council car park (Becks Square) right outside the museum.

Wonderful! What a gem of a museum - I went expecting to only be there for an hour or so but we were still there 3 hours later! There is so much to do for children of all ages - ride along cars, dressing up costumes in different rooms, games, and there was even a play kitchen and pretend food amongst the Victorian ovens and washing utensils. The retired steam train equipped with train driver costumes and real sound effects topped our day off perfectly - and that’s not to mention kids are free - thank you so much, 10/10!

We visit lots of museums all over the south west and this is one of our absolute favourites. We have 6 children ranging from 3-17 and they all love it here. It's so well thought out and there are lots of things for the children (and grown ups) to interact with the whole way around. The little backpacks and ride on toys mean that we get to spend time with the older children looking at exhibits and no one gets bored!
Charlie C — Google review
Had a really good time here with our two small children. Lots of local interest for us adults and plenty of activities for our children, plus thoughtful touches like stools to stand on to reach things more easily, and toddler seats in the loos! We'll definitely come back to see everything we didn't get to today.

Visiting the Tiverton Museum of Mid Devon Life was truly the highlight of our holiday in Devon! The staff were incredibly helpful and welcoming, making us feel right at home from the moment we arrived. The museum is wonderfully accessible for wheelchair users, with everything thoughtfully laid out. A fantastic experience all around, highly recommended!

Dartmouth Museum, located in a 17th-century merchants' house known as the Butterwalk, offers a captivating display of maritime, World War I, and industrial exhibits. The museum has been recently redesigned to meet national museum standards and features an extensive collection of artifacts, models, paintings, and photographs related to Dartmouth and its surrounding district.
Nice museum. Staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. Would highly recommend, especially for the steam engine models.
Benjamin M — Google review
The place has a great collection of historical objects and an incredible display of steam engines throughout history .
Vik ( — Google review
Fascinating place: something for everyone interested in history of Dartmouth itself focussing on links to social history, military experience (eg Normandy landings), history of steam engines, Pilgrim Fathers/Mayflower, 17th and 18th century ships. Enthusiastic but certainly not intrusive staff who clearly love the place. It's easy to see why.
Jeremy B — Google review
The museum is a labour of love, and you will love it. Housed in the town's most historic house, the building itself is worth the admission alone. First there is the dining room that once hosted King Charles II above that is the Mayflower room that tells the story of that most famous of ships that once visited the port on her way to the New World carrying the Pilgrim Fathers led by the man I often think of as "Cousin William". The centrepiece of the display is a magnificent cut away model of Mayflower that gives a fine insight into the conditions onboard. The social history of Dartmouth is told in another display, as is the story of Dartmouth at war including the tale of the American forces that left the Dart for the beaches of Normandy for the D Day landings. Don't take my word for it, visit yourself, but you'll need more time than you may think!
Nigel B — Google review
Great little museum, friendly staff, don't let the quirky little entrance put you off, well worth a visit.
David H — Google review
It’s a tiny museum, but packed with fragments of important history such as Mayflower and the D-day in WW2. The film about getting ready for D-day shows some background scenes from that time. Two teenage sons seemed to find it interesting as they are learning about WW2 at school. The Mayflower replica ship is impressive and well made. We went during the Feb half term and it was raining and wet, so we decided to go in. It was worth visiting.
Chiho S — Google review
This museum, cosily squeezed into an old, slightly tilted merchant’s house dating back to 1640, harbours an astonishingly wide variety of objects spawned by human indigence. My favourite is the man-sized soil scoop. The museum is run by a lovely elderly couple. When asked for it, they are, as a donette treat to the more distinguished visitors, quite willing to offer you the 'prurient tour' along the highlights of the museum.
