Californian restaurant
Cafe
Italian restaurant
Zuni Café is a lively bistro in San Francisco known for its famous roast chicken and seasonal wood-fired dishes. With a laid-back California vibe, the iconic space features bold artwork-covered walls, a copper bar, and a wood-burning oven that fills the room with mouthwatering aromas. The restaurant offers a variety of locally sourced eats and has partnered with Dispatch Goods to package takeout orders in reusable containers.
Walking into Zuni Cafe feels like stepping into the heart of San Francisco itself. This beloved institution has been serving the city for decades, and you can feel that deep connection to community the moment you settle into their warm, bustling space. The soaring windows flood the restaurant with natural light, while the open kitchen and multi-level dining room create an energy that’s distinctly San Francisco sophisticated yet approachable, polished yet genuine. The menu is a love letter to California cuisine, showcasing the kind of seasonal, locally sourced cooking that made the city famous. Every dish reflects a commitment to quality ingredients prepared with skill and care. The famous roasted chicken, cooked in their wood-fired brick oven, is nothing short of extraordinary crispy-skinned perfection. But what makes Zuni truly special goes beyond the exceptional food. Their partnership with Compass Family Services through the chicken dinner program shows how a restaurant can be a force for good in its community. Knowing that every chicken dinner sold contributes $1 to supporting families in need adds a layer of meaning to an already perfect meal. It’s the kind of thoughtful community engagement that makes you proud to dine here.

Had heard good things about this restaurant and finally gave it a try. The best part in my opinion was the atmosphere. We got the corner seat surrounded by large glass windows, so it was quite bright even though it was cloudy outside. The service was also very good, they split our dishes into two so we could share them. Also FYI, there is a 25% gratuity charge automatically included in the bill. The food was good, we had the burger and the vegetable spaghetti, along with the fries. The burger was pretty good and definitely on the fancier side being served on focaccia, however it was slightly overcooked and not particularly interesting. The pasta was very good. The fries were decent, however they could have been crispier and were not as delicious as I expected.

Excellent martinis. You must go, and you must get the chicken for two. It has bread inside that has soaked up all of the chicken juices it’s amazing. The fries are also so teeny matchbook stick size! You can skip the anchovies and the bread the butter comes out pretty hard.

Came here with a friend without a reservation and we got seated immediately at 1pm when it was super busy. Good: - The portions are small and expensive but the food quality is great - I liked the spaghetti dish a lot - the noodles had a chewy texture and was super tasty - The flourless chocolate cake was good! Wasn't super sweet and the whipped cream was so good - The mint tea was a nice touch after the meal - The servers were very nice! Bad: - The wait time for each dish was very long - we were here for 1h30 min and waiting for most of the time for each dish - Expensive overall! Overall this was a nice find and I enjoyed getting to spend a lazy lunch afternoon here catching up with a friend.
Jenny X — Google review
We arrived at our reservation about 20 min early and they were able to seat us right away. The staff is attentive without being overbearing; they refilled water without being intrusive, timed the courses perfectly, and even split our dishes onto 2 plates because we were a party of 2 couples. They were constantly present (working around the floor) without us feeling pressured to order or finish our food faster. I believe we were there for about 2 hours. Every single dish we ordered was exceptional. All the ingredients for the salad and appetizers tasted so fresh and had so much flavor, especially all the various dipping sauces, dressings and toppings that were served with each of the dishes. We ordered the melons & prosciutto salad, tomato herb and crispy polenta salad, fritto misto (calamari & fried fish), polenta, roasted chicken and salted caramel ice cream with peach galette. Pro tip we observed from a neighboring table - order an extra side of the bread salad to go with the chicken! That one also comes soaked in chicken juices with the currants and pine nuts mixed it with additional spring mix on top. Parking - it looks like mostly street parking but we took a rideshare in to avoid dealing with the traffic and parking situation.
Vivien L — Google review
The main reason I visited was for the chicken bread salad, but I learned that it’s made to order and takes 75 minutes. I did not want to wait that long. The menu felt both limited and all over the place. Nothing really stood out and I wanted a salad but the only protein option was shrimp or anchovies. That said, everything else I had was really good, just think it’s a little overpriced. Service was good, worth checking out but lower your expectations.
Richard S — Google review
Really fresh vegetable appetizers (Caesar salad and burrata with heirloom tomatoes), chicken had great smoky flavor but many pieces were quite dry (thigh and leg were juicy). Was it worth the price? I’m not sure if it is so much better than cheaper rotisserie chickens

6/15/2025 - Dinner - Table for 2 We came for the roast chicken. It did not disappoint. Although I wish it came with some gravy. Service could be better. Wonder if it was due to the fact that they have a mandatory service surcharge built in ?

Mexican restaurant
Burrito restaurant
La Taqueria, located in the Mission District, has been a go-to spot since 1973 for its traditional-style burritos and tacos. The Jara family's tightly wrapped burritos and tacos have earned them a loyal following. Recently, their secret menu was revealed, showcasing sneaky menu hacks like the "burrito dorado."
This place was great. This was the first time me and my wife has been here and we got to tell you this is going to be our new favorite spot when we visit San Francisco. We had the super burrito fried the proportion sizes is not that large but it is worth every bit of the money. There was a pretty big line but trust me don't let that scare you away it goes really fast. The inside is pretty small so it's hard to get a table so we just got to go and ate it at our car.
Ronald — Google review
La Taqueria is often called the world’s best burrito spot, and after tasting it myself, I can see why it has such a devoted following. Every burrito is packed with fresh ingredients, perfectly seasoned, and wrapped with care—the flavors hit just the right balance of bold and comforting. I’d give it an 8.5/10—almost perfection. The portions are generous without feeling heavy, and every bite is satisfying. While a few small details kept it from feeling completely elevated, the overall experience is still outstanding and absolutely worth visiting if you’re in San Francisco. For anyone serious about burritos, La Taqueria is a must-stop!
Jetset B — Google review
Famous burrito spot in Mission district. Long wait but the burrito is excellent. Taste of everything is superb. Really enjoyed the Super because it includes sour cream, cheese and avocado which just elevates the flavor. Vibe is authentic and there's nothing extra. You're just there for the good food! I would recommend a weekday as the line can be quite long and get there early!
Bo L — Google review
The evening at the establishment with colleagues was certainly a success. The environment was lively and enjoyable, creating a great mood for everyone. It was easy to relax and have conversations without feeling overwhelmed by the surroundings. The overall experience provided a wonderful opportunity to unwind and socialize after a long day. Everyone seemed to appreciate the ambiance and the chance to connect outside of work.

Given the hype I had really high expectations. Waited in line for about 20 min line was around the corner. You order up front then walk in a pay. Seating is tough. You wait in line until a seat come available there are some single tables and then picnic style tables. Not convenient for large parties. Seating is tight. When your order is ready they call it out by number food and drinks come out all at once. Took 15-20 for our order to be called. I didnt care for the chips and salsa. There was no salsa it was chopped onion and tomatoes. I order chicken quesadilla I would rate it 4 stars Carna Burrito 3 stars. Food is good not the best in the world. $80 3 beers, chips and salsa, burrito and chicken quesadilla.
Lana R — Google review
Crispy carnitas burrito was good, green sauce was spicy, no rice means it tasted authentic not american. Waited in line to order for dine in on a Friday night, waiting in line for food 10 minutes finally got a seat. Food was good I would eat here again.
Maurice P — Google review
Best burrito in SF. The carne asada is tender, smoky, and perfectly marinated. Be sure to add guacamole as it balances out the richness of the beef. There is no salsa bar but every table has a large squeeze bottle of their signature spicy salsa verde. Wash it down with some horchata or an agua Fresca and you’ll walk away feeling satisfied and happy!
Ray K — Google review
Delicious, worth it if you’ve got 2 hours to spend. weekend lunch is a little over an hour wait. My favorite order is carne asada burrito with avocado, dorado style. The dorado adds a lot of flavor (admittedly at the cost of fat/calories). I don’t like the chicken, it’s not spiced or browned in any way. One burrito is enough for a small woman, though once you see other peoples orders you regret not ordering a taco as an appetizer

Tommy's Joynt is a beloved neighborhood gem that has been serving up American comfort food for over 75 years. This iconic establishment, known as the original San Francisco beer bar and the last remaining hofbrau, boasts a vibrant atmosphere with its kitschy decor and lively murals. Guests can indulge in an array of hand-carved meat sandwiches featuring turkey, pastrami, brisket, and ham, alongside daily dinner platters.
WHAT A JOINT!!!! Love this place. Its old, gritty and good like I like it. The pastrami is fantastic and the green beans are outstanding. This is a stand up order and seat yourself bar that is a staple to San Fran. They do it right and it is super affordable….two can eat for under $50 without a problem. Its old school with simply spectacular MEATS!!!!!! Its worth the walk.
Barry — Google review
I love this joint!! I love the go to the counter and get what you want freshly sliced and delicious 😋. I am a sucker for Thanksgiving dinner and this place delivers deliciously. You have to ask for cranberry sauce but I can forgive that. The stuffing is delicious but I don't care for the texture I like mine less wet. The gravy is divine mashed potatoes are real. The guys behind the counter are great and seem to be used to people not knowing what to order because it all looks so good . The bartenders were great and made excellent suggestions. I have been here multiple times during my visit to San Francisco. Do not miss out on this joint! Get a filling meal at a reasonable price and make sure you do not skip those house made pickles 😋 . I am not a pickle guy but these were exceptional. The charm of this place oozes old school and a no nonsense way of doing things. If you have read this review thank you. You have been great I have been Mike C!!
Mike C — Google review
For what it is, 5 stars. It’s a classic S.F. joint, with a hot plate of healthy food and other options You can walk through the buffet, see and choose from 5 or so meats, combine it with mashed potatoes and or green beans, salad or baked beans, and a sourdough or soft roll; large plate is 18, and small is 13.50. It's a big plate of food, a whole and complete meal, for less than $20. But of course we tip so it's a bit more than that. You order at the buffet and pay there, get your food on a tray and seat yourself. This is an old school diner and bar combo, and it looks it. Cozy.
G B — Google review
Finally able to revisit this place. Walked into a semi- crowded bar and restaurant with all the locals. Right before a concert nearby as all the old rockers were pregaming. Wonderful crowd and best tasting cuts of meat. Roast beef, bbq brisket and turkey our entourage ordered. Spaghetti, mashed potatoes and salads were our sides, with many other options we wish we could of tried. The bar was hopping, diverse crowd as well. After over eating the place was packed, with always a line for the food. Get here if never been, you'll be back like I plan too.

3.3/5 for the food. Got the pastrami sandwich on a wheat bread. The restaurant is pretty old and it’s pretty confusing on what to order. The price is decent but I think the food was average and nothing special. Reminds me of langers in LA for the vibes but less cleaner. The old folks at the counter were pretty nice though
Eidmone T — Google review
This is a neighborhood gem. They really have the meats! You can choose if you want a meal, sandwich, how much meat, sides, and fixings. This is meat centric, so I wouldn't recommend it for vegetarians. They have very reasonable prices for the quality of food. The place may seem "divish," but for me, it was more charm of times that have passed. Some may say it needs to be remodeled, I think it should stay the same. The staff was very friendly. At a table next to us was a woman who seemed to be homeless. She had a cart full of her belongings next to her table. Despite this, staff sreved her and were kind to her. Many businesses would not have served her. They acknowledged she was a patron and treated her just like anybody else. This shows their true kindness.
Nicolas D — Google review
Got my fill of Corned beef and pastrami while I was in SF. I just took it back to my room but the bar looked pretty cozy to spend some time at night. Super well spiced and tasty!

Love this place. I usually end up here at the end of day everytime I go to sf. My favorite is the pastrami and the cornbread. The menu has many items and have never been disappointed with any of the food

Liholiho Yacht Club is an amazing casual eatery with a variety of interesting flavors. Everything on the menu always puts decision-making skills to the test, and the Tendernob spot is currently operational as dine-in service out of Dear Inga in the Mission. The basement bar, Louie's Gen Gen Room, is also worth checking out for its unique drink options and addictive food items like crudos and waffles.
One of the best restaurant I have ever tried. We were 2 walk-in and they were very gentle in finding a table for us waiting a bit inside in the meantime. We took two tuna poke, the halibut and the cod and two dessert, the matcha lemon tart and the Hawaii with orange sorbet. I loved that every plate was explained when it was arriving. The mixture of flavors in every dish was incredible and is it clear there is a lot of study behind. The process may be a bit high but the quality of the food is excellent. The only thing that I would suggest to add is that it would be very nice to bring some bread or similar together with water when seated. It was really the only thing missing!
Chiara G — Google review
We had such a great experience here! The staff was incredibly accommodating to our kids, which made the evening so much more enjoyable. The food was even better than we remembered—every dish was spot on. The swordfish and pork shoulder were absolute standouts, cooked perfectly and full of flavor. The service was outstanding from start to finish, and the drink selection was impressive. We opted for the prix fixe menu, which turned out to be a fantastic value and gave us the chance to try most of the menu.
A K — Google review
the service was immaculate and the food came so fast! the pacing of the food was perfect and the people there are so warm and welcoming. unfortunately all of the items we ordered were consistently too salty, my tongue is tingling from the amount of sodium. The pork was the best of the 3 dishes though!
Amy T — Google review
Liholiho Yacht Club blends Hawaiian roots with California creativity, a vision from chef Ravi Kapur inspired by his family’s pop-ups back on Maui. The menu is built for sharing, with dishes that highlight both heritage and innovation. We started with the duck liver mousse—smooth and melt-in-your-mouth—followed by the poppy-seed steamed bun with beef tongue, a truly unique surprise. The local halibut kinilaw was bright and refreshing, while the American wagyu zabuton arrived tender and deeply flavorful. For dessert, the Baked Hawaii was the perfect finale—playful and delicious. Service was excellent throughout, portions were just right, and reservations are essential as the restaurant is always in high demand.

Came here before a show nearby. Amazing food and delicious cocktails! The pork belly buns were so perfect, but so was every other dish we had. Definitely come with a decent sized group so you can try a bunch of dishes.
Pamazing — Google review
First time I dined here was about 2 years ago and went back again last night. We had a total of 4 people and the amount we ordered was more than enough. I thought every dish we ordered was beautifully plated and cooked to perfection (standouts: snap pea salad, swordfish katsu, local ling cod, chips & dip). The service and vibe were great too!
Karina S — Google review
Would 100% recommend the chef’s tasting menu, every dish was on point. We loved the variety in the line up and each dish had a different unique flavor profile of its own. Loved the duck liver mousse, halibut and the off menu taro croquette. Michelin star level service. 👌🏼 We are definitely going back!
Mekhola — Google review
TLDR: creative touches on a menu of mixed cultural heritage I ordered the hojicha highball and it actually tasted very good, surprising that one flavor did not overpower the other. The food was pretty decent and I liked the dessert most of all. I still think it was a bit pricey considering I didn’t have a main dish and after tax and top it was still close to $95 for two apps, one dessert and one cocktail.

The Buena Vista, a historic cafe established in 1916, is located at the end of the Hyde Street cable-car line. It's renowned for introducing Irish coffee to the United States in 1952 and continues to attract both locals and tourists seeking a taste of history. The cozy interior features a long bar where skilled bartenders expertly prepare the signature Irish coffee using Tullamore D.E.W.
My supervisor recommended i stop by and try the Irish Coffee and it was amazing. Bold and not overly sweet, it was just right. It was packed, but service was still friendly and fast. The food came out quickly and was delicious. I had the corned beef hash with poached eggs and it was perfect. The sourdough toast was the best. I stop by if you get the chance, it's worth it.

Cute spot for great views, excellent service, and delicious food. We all got the clam chowder in the bread bowl and gobbled up the whole thing. I love the whole vibe of the place and it is very reasonably priced for the area. Doesn’t feel too touristy while so many things around the area do. It’s always packed so you know it’s probably pretty good. Will be back when I’m in town again!
Kristen G — Google review
This place is a must visit on so many fronts when on the waterfront in San Francisco. A couple is the food for breakfast or lunch and their Irish Coffee experience. The Irish Coffees are a special free pour and is served hot with quite the bite. The places buzzes all day long with patrons for a meal and a beverage. The staff are well tuned to the atmosphere and remain engaged and friendly. Glad we visited, and had a bite to eat and a special coffee. It was instrumental to the enjoyment had at Fishermen's Wharf and the Embarcadero waterfront promenade.
Dan M — Google review
If you’re looking for a historic San Francisco experience, The Buena Vista is an absolute must-visit. This place is legendary for a reason, they serve the original Irish Coffee, and it's a perfect blend of rich, hot coffee, sweet whiskey, and a decadent cream top. The atmosphere is always buzzing with people from all over the world, and the bartenders are masters of their craft, making a show out of every drink. It’s more than just a drink; it's a tradition, a warm and comforting treat that perfectly captures the city's charm. This place is a true San Francisco institution.
Tensai G — Google review
The Irish coffee here totally lives up to the hype. Watching the bartenders line up the glasses and pour everything with perfect timing is half the fun—it’s like its own show. The cream floats perfectly, you get that kick of whiskey, and it’s super smooth and rich. The place has that classic San Francisco bar vibe—old-school wood interior, bar stools, warm lighting. Yeah, it’s a tourist spot, but it’s got real character and history (it’s been around since 1916!). Plus, the location is great—right by Fisherman’s Wharf and Ghirardelli Square—so it’s an easy stop while you’re walking around the area. Definitely worth it for the drink and the atmosphere. Oh and don’t forget to ask for one Togo

Charming old bar with classic decor and a cozy atmosphere. It’s famous for its Irish coffee, which is delicious but a bit pricey. Still, it’s worth a visit for the history, the view by the bay, and the overall experience. Our server Gerardo was great! Muchas gracias!

Food was great! We got the crab omelette and the clam chowder. Perfect meal for a cold morning. The Irish whiskey makes it a whole lot better! They do pour a decent amount of whiskey in there. We got there about 9:45am on a Sunday and we didn’t have to wait at all.

Loved our visit to Buena Vista in San Francisco! We tried the original Irish coffee (first served in the US here) and it was amazing. Sat right by the bar and enjoyed watching the bartender make them with such flair. They use Tullamore D.E.W whiskey — smooth and perfect. Definitely worth the stop!

House of Prime Rib is a classic English-style restaurant that has been serving prime rib and martinis since the 1940s. It's a polarizing spot, but a favorite for many in San Francisco. The old-school establishment offers a nostalgic dining experience with carvers in tall hats, red leather banquettes, and table-side salad spinning. The AAA Three Diamond Designated restaurant is known for its generous portions of premium prime rib and charming atmosphere.
Delicious food and a fun time, portions are super generous so go prepared to eat, the menu is pretty straight forward and it makes it easy to choose. Hector delivered our meat cuts and he made sure we were happy with our food. Staff is really friendly and attentive, they can also take your group picture and print it for you which is a fun souvenir to remember the night.

Awesome. Just awesome. The prime rib was so good, and every side was incredible. The food ? 5/5 every time. Unfortunately, I cannot quite say the same for the service and atmosphere. Please be aware that no matter the time of day, if you managed to get a reservation, it is very busy. And very cramped. The amount of bodies in there also creates a very hot environment, which contributes the stuffy atmosphere. The service as well - the main server said bread would be coming right away and it didn’t show up until 20 minutes after, during the salad course. I had to ask for it again. They also took a while to come back, so we couldn’t catch them for the check or anything additional for a while. Overall, I think the food is worth it despite the restaurants shortcomings! If you can get a reservation, I do recommend giving their prime rib a try.

Service and atmosphere was the highlight. Servers are super friendly. Only thing better than the service was the food. Got the king Henry cut. The prime rib was absolutely amazing, extremely juicy and tender. The horseradish sauces come in 3 different levels of strength and for me the medium was perfect. Sourdough was great but definitely ask for the corn bread, it’s off menu and there might be a wait but it was amazing. Creamed spinach was perfect and I definitely recommend that over the corn side.

First time here. Celebrated my birthday. Wow! What a meal & experience. It's like having dinner inside an English Manor House. From the Manhattan I had (they gave you a shaker with enough for a second drink!), the tableside salad prepared right in front of you. They even bring you a chilled fork. Prime Rib was amazing! Cooked to order. Ask for the loaded mashed potatoes. They bring you a small bowl with bacon, sour cream & chives you can top or mix your mashed potatoes with. Creamed corn was excellent. For dessert, I had the warm apple crisp with a scoop of Double Rainbow vanilla ice cream. What an awesome birthday dinner. Our waiter, JB, was the best. Highly recommend going here. Thanks House of Prime Rib.

We have been coming here for years but after Covid tried to make reservations several times and was booked out too far. This year for our anniversary we decided to try again and just so happed there was a cancellation and we got in Sunday night at 10pm. We got there early for drinks and they got us a table 15 minutes early. The food was better than we remembered, the prime rib was literally melt in your mouth perfect. They had a choice of creamed corn instead of creamed spinach and it was the best I have ever tasted. Just the best!!

9.15.25- Went to the House of Prime Rib for my birthday recently. First time eating there and must say I was impressed with everything there. The service was too notch, the food was very good. I had a slice of rib med well, plenty pink on the inside, creamed spinach and mashed potato, they do offer a loaded bake potato instead. I would go there again. I STRONGLY suggest place your reservations months in advance!!
Brian K — Google review
House of Prime Rib is a San Francisco classic, and for good reason—it's always packed! We booked a table for six two months in advance and still only managed to get a 9 p.m. slot on a Monday, which just goes to show how popular it is. The main event, the King Henry VIII cut, was fantastic. The first slice of prime rib was just as I remembered it—incredibly juicy with amazing quality. My only minor gripe was that the au jus seemed a bit less flavorful than before and got absorbed by the meat pretty fast. They also have some sweet touches, like a free printed Polaroid for a group photo and a complimentary sorbet with a candle for birthdays. Now, for the big letdown: the second slice. If you finish the King Henry cut, you're offered a second helping. Last time, it was perfect—tender and medium-rare. This time, it was a totally different story. The meat was chewy, overcooked, and way too salty. To make matters worse, when I couldn't finish it, they told me they couldn't wrap it to go. I was pretty disappointed, especially since the quality of that second piece was so bad. I ended up having to finish it unwillingly. So, while the initial plate is great, be prepared that the second slice might not live up to the hype.
Sherman Z — Google review
Short summary: The food was amazing but I don’t know if it is worth the wait and the effort required to get a reservation. Reservation & Service: I had to call a couple of times months ahead before I finally got a table for 9:30. We probably got seated closer to around 10:00 and it took another hour for us to finally get to the prime rib. The restaurant was very packed so I don’t blame the waitstaff for being slow, but it didn’t feel good having to wait so long for the steak. Our waiter was very nice though and he did a great job with the presentation of each of our dishes. Food: I got the king Henry VIII cut and it came with bread, a seasonal salad which they toss in front of you, choice of loaded or mashed potatoes, creamy spinach, and Yorkshire pudding. It was a VERY BIG MEAL, totally worth the $80. The meat was tender and juicy, the sides were all delicious, but we simply could not finish everything.

Super Duper Burgers is a counter-service chain with several locations in San Francisco, offering burgers, fries, and organic milkshakes made with local ingredients. The brand emphasizes the use of sustainable and natural products whenever possible, such as beef from humanely raised cows and organic cream in their ice cream. They also offer options like adding an egg to your burger or garlic to your fries.
Hands down the BEST burger I’ve had in a while! The Super Burger was so juicy, it was hard to put down. It also has a good selection of add ons and substitutions. The Garlic Fries were crispy and I loved the touch of cheese on top. I’ve never had shake made how The Chocolate Shake w/ Fresh Strawberries is made , you get a really smooth and refreshing taste when both are sipped together.
Kae — Google review
A borderline 5 star burger to me given the reasonable price. They don’t have even cheese included by default so I had to add both cheese and bacon to make the burger nice. They only had one cheese option available at the point I visited. The burger was juicy but on the flip side it was soaking with fat and my hands were all oily from the very first second I touched the burger. The chips were pretty oily and not as well made. No interesting sauces either. Overall this place is reasonable for a quick bite. Don’t look for any good atmosphere there - the place is far from being sparkling clean
Alexey S — Google review
Came here through a friend's recommendation and their burger didn't disappoint. I loved the beautifully chargrilled beef patty with some slightly crispy bits, yet they managed to keep the meat moist inside. We ordered the mini burger with fries to share which was perfect for a light lunch.
Lawrence T — Google review
I ordered jalapeno cheddar fries and a vanilla shake. The shake was excellent, but honestly the fries just had a big wad of unmelted cheese on top with some pickled jalapeños tossed on top. Definitely not worth extra. The fries themselves weren’t bad though. It was just poor execution on the special item.

Super Duper Burgers is always a great choice! The burgers are fresh, juicy, and full of flavor — you can really taste the quality of the ingredients. Everything is made to order, and the buns and toppings are perfectly balanced. Simple, fast, and consistently good. A reliable spot for a delicious burger in San Francisco.
Olga N — Google review
Loved it! The smash burger was delicious, the fries were super crispy, and the pickle side (all-you-can-eat!) was really good. I really liked the place. I just wouldn’t recommend using the bathroom, it smelled pretty bad, haha. But aside from that, when it comes to the food, it was excellent!
Jaisa ( — Google review
How a burger should be - simple, beefy, and delicious. The crust is crispy, meat is juicy, and a delicious beef flavor from the fat rendering out. The regular double patty burger is $10.50, so a good price as well. Garlic fries were decent but too greasy and soggy. Highly recommend this chain if you want a delicious burger.

Chef-owner Brenda Buenviaje infuses her New Orleans roots into the menu, featuring delectable dishes such as beignets, po' boys, fried chicken benedict on biscuits with grits for brunch, and savory options like chicken and andouille sausage gumbo for dinner.
Excellent food everything is absolutely delicious! Nothing is bad, everything is spectacular no exaggeration! The quality of the food exceeds my expectations. Even the coffee… OMG, it’s amazing! The service is always outstanding. The staff is incredible, from the kitchen to the servers; everyone is wonderful. The food speaks for itself truly one of my favorite restaurants in San Francisco. We had the catfish and fried chicken Benedict, grillades and grits and the bananas fosters french toast. The portions are all shareable, and that we did! Perfect texture and flavors from all menu items. Tomorrow we will be trying all of their famous beignets. My favorite was the beignets. They were so soft and crunchy and the seasoning was amazing.
Mary S — Google review
We went the day before for just the beignet, and it was incredible, especially the ube ones. I was really disappointed with the chicken and waffles though, I thought it was kind of odd that the peach syrup is served like, fridge cold, so the waffles were completely cold when they came out. The chicken was hot which I appreciate, but it was also EXTREMELY thin. (See photo)

Came here on a Saturday afternoon for lunch and no wait at all. It's a bit pricey ($5 or ONE oyster!), but the food was delicious. Highly recommend the Catfish & Grits and watermelon iced tea. The beignets are filling. The fried chicken has good seasoning, but on the greasy side. Friendly staff and fast service.

This spot is easily one of my favorites in San Francisco! The food tastes so fresh and full of flavor. The catfish and grits were amazing, and that biscuit was out of this world. Portions are generous, and the prices feel totally fair for the quality you get. I’m already planning to come back and try more from the menu!

Wow, our server was so helpful and kind. The food spoke for itself. Absolutely delicious. We went on a Sunday morning in June. The vibe was chill lots of small groups and couples coming in and out. We tried several things on the menu. Great flavors in everything. 💯 Recommend.

We came here in the afternoon for beignets and they were absolutely delicious. Our favorites were the chocolate and ube ones! We loved it so much that we came back the next morning to try their peach waffles but unfortunately it was a bit disappointing. The flavors were pretty good but the waffles came out cold, the chicken was very thin and slightly cold. We still might come back in the future to try other things on the menu but we didn’t think the waffles were worth $24.

Ice cream shop
Bi-Rite Creamery is a popular spot known for its homemade organic ice cream, with flavors like salted caramel that draw long lines of eager customers. The founders, who were pastry chefs before venturing into ice cream making, have expanded their offerings to include delicious pies during the holidays. They prioritize community by sourcing from over 200 local producers and emphasize sustainability through partnerships with companies like Guittard Chocolate Company and Straus Organic Dairy.
Perfect ice cream stop before heading to the park next door. Heard this was one of the best ice cream shops in the city, so we swung by after a late brunch around 3PM. The line was long. Took us about 20 minutes to get inside and order, but it was totally worth the wait. We tried a few of their most popular flavors: Black Sesame, Balsamic Strawberry, and Honey Lavender. My personal favorites were the latter two. Both had delicate, nuanced flavors. The balsamic and lavender notes were subtle, just enough to leave a pleasantly aromatic finish without overwhelming the creamy base.

Bi-Rite Creamery is a solid choice if you're in the area and looking for a dependable ice cream spot. There was nothing particularly wrong with the experience, but nothing that made it feel truly special either. The ice cream was good and the prices were fair, making it a perfectly decent option. This is the ideal kind of place when you just want a reliable, no-frills scoop without having to think too much about it. If you're nearby and in the mood for a simple and satisfying treat, Bi-Rite Creamery gets the job done.

🍦 Delicious Ice Cream: The ice cream at Bi-Rite Creamery is genuinely delicious. It's rich, creamy, and clearly made with high-quality ingredients, resulting in fantastic flavors that truly satisfy. 😊 Super Friendly Staff: The staff here are incredibly friendly and welcoming. As first-time visitors, we especially appreciated how accommodating they were, allowing us to sample quite a few flavors before we settled on our choices. This made the experience even more enjoyable. 👍 First-Timer Friendly: Their willingness to let us sample multiple flavors made our first visit a very positive and memorable one. It's great for discovering new favorites. 📍 Overall Impression: Bi-Rite Creamery is a must-visit for ice cream lovers in San Francisco. The combination of delicious ice cream and wonderfully friendly service makes for a truly delightful experience. Highly recommended!

I visited this place on a Sunday afternoon and had to wait about 25 minutes in line—but it was absolutely worth it! I went for the Make Your Own sundae, and it turned out to be the best choice ever. I picked Black Sesame, Salted Caramel, and Peanut Butter flavors, and topped it with spiced pecans, caramelized bananas, hot fudge, and, of course, whipped cream. It was incredibly delicious! I totally recommend checking this place out!

My partner and I explored this spot two months back while we were in San Francisco. On our way to Dolores Park, we craved something sweet and stumbled upon this place. We decided to order a banana split. The staff assisting us was incredibly friendly and provided great explanations. The banana split was absolutely delicious. Although there was a long line when we got there, it moved quite quickly. We can't wait to return to this place again in the future.

This spot is bangin! After a burrito on Mission we drove a short distance to top off lunch with some ice cream….and this place it the mark. we ordered salted caramel ice cream, and I got a second scoop of the coffee toffee. And indeed, a great way to treat yourself after a burrito on Mission.

Talk about a quintessential experience. When you see the amazing park alongside this ice cream store, bi rite just stands out. Amazing flavors, unique setup, soft serve and a myriad of savory and sweet combos. Worth the 10-20 min wait at night for a chance to also enjoy the city scape views. Love this place

Had to come try this place since I really haven’t seen such basil and olive oil flavored ice cream in the US apart from ildg all the way in NYC… Olive oil was subtle and fragrant and made the base seem beautifully light but tbh I didn’t think it tasted that much like olive oil; basil brought the fragrance up another level and was more refreshing (producing even more lightness), slightly sweet for me but overall it was still quite acceptable. Since they were somewhat similar in style so I ended up pairing basil (which balanced the cream base with a more refreshing tone) with balsamic blueberry+strawberry (your average decent not-too-sweet berry sorbet). Overall it’s definitely one of the better ice creams in the area but unfortunately still a tier lower than gelato shops back home in Shanghai ;-;;;

Coqueta, located near the Ferry Building, is a popular spot offering contemporary Spanish cuisine and stunning views of the bay. The restaurant's classy interior features rustic elements like wooden tables and cowhide rugs, with an open kitchen adding to the ambiance. The outdoor patio is also a hit among patrons. Coqueta's menu includes mouthwatering tapas, family-style plates, and an extensive selection of gin and tonics.
Loved dining at this place. We stopped here for an early dinner. It's a great location on the waterfront, a perfect place to eat outside on a beautiful day. The hospitality was very good and the service was perfect. They had the foresight to check if we had any allergies when taking our order. They were very on top of making sure we had water and clearing our plates when necessary. We ordered the patatas bravas, the ham croquettes, the octopus, and the grilled duck breast. Everything was delicious, perfectly seasoned and had great flavors. For dessert, we had the churros. Will definitely want to come back here again to try more items on the menu.
Michael H — Google review
It was a mixed experience. To be clear, the service is incredible. The people there are extremely warm and welcoming and make you feel comfortable immediately. The location is great and on a bright sunny day, absolutely gorgeous Now, coming to food we got the following and here is my take on each so that you can decide for yourself if this place is for you: 1. Pulpo a la Parrilla (Grilled Octopus): Absolutely fresh and delicious. I would have preferred it to have a dressing that contrasts the flavor overall (something citrusy would be incredible here. So you of course get the charred flavor but you do not get anything else. To me it was a bit flat but of course it is a great way to start. 2. Salmón Ahumado (Smoked salmon montadito): My partner tells me it is a 10/10 dish and he loves the freshness of the whole dish. (I dont eat salmon and therefore dont have a take) 3. Gaucho Bistec (Tomahawk ribeye steak): The quality of beef, great. The scallions and the sea salt, great. What is sad is that there is no option whatsoever to get a sauce alongside it. It doesn't come with a sauce and there is no way to even purchase it separately either. It makes the whole experience sub-par. I feel this needs support as a dish. If it had a sauce, I would have wanted to rate the whole restaurant 5/5 but for now, it's going to be at 4 4. Manchego cheesecake: Lovely dessert. I have always been a fan of sheep milk cheeses and it is very refreshing with the raspberry sorbet it comes with. That said, the raisin reduction is a conflicting flavor and I am not a huge fan of how sweet it is. It completely overpowers the the flavor of the cheesecake. 5. We got a bottle of Avinyo, cava BRUT ROSE, Penedés. For the meal, I personally feel it pairs perfectly with everything and brings the whole meal together. My take is that if you are more of a "go natural" and do not add layers to the flavors in dishes kind of a person, you will like it a little more than I did. Overall, it's a nice place to explore and definitely should be on your radar if you are in San Francisco

we were pleased to find this restaurant centrally located on the embarcadero, just a few blocks from our hotel. having spent time in portugal and spain, we’re always missing good tapas! made a last minute reservation on opentable and was able to get a table on the patio - be warned it can get quite windy and chilly out there. food was a bit mixed with some hits and some misses. i’m a huge fan of eggplant and really wanted to love the “bikini” but i just didn’t feel like the eggplant was done very well here. the duck & pork meatballs had a very strange texture, almost like it was over tenderized which made it taste and feel like it was undercooked. not a fan. the croquetas were really good, crispy on the outside and warm/flavorful on the inside. smoked salmon montadito was excellent as well. just wished the portions were a touch bigger. i do appreciate the server’s offer to customize the number of pieces according to our party size though. the grilled sea bass is the closest we’ve had to those in the algarve - perfectly cooked and seasoned with complementary meyer lemon and olives. topped off with a few glasses of sangria, it almost felt like we were back in europe! if you’re looking for something fun and casual outside of the usual touristy or american seafood dining experience when in SF, i would recommend coqueta.

We’ve been frequenting this place for almost four years now and it’s never disappointed us. Truly, the food is so good, the service is quick and friendly, and the atmosphere is fun. I love going on a random Wednesday night and sitting in the bar area. Meatballs are a must, so are the croquettes, potatoes, bread and tomato, dates, and any of the cheese plates. And if you want the best margarita of your life? Salt Air Margarita is for you. This place just kills it every single time. It’s in my usual SF restaurant rotation and it’s consistently good. Love taking out of towners here too because the location is so easy and so pretty. Definitely an SF must try!

I thought I wrote a review of this restaurant as I go here to eat quite often. Had a small order this time as it was just me, wanted to try other than my usual order. The pintxos were good, I would have ordered more but I ordered paella. Paella’s okay, the shellfish totally shrunk (as if nothing is left), the chocolate cake is perhaps my new dessert go to here!

Fantastic food. Great location! The price for the food was overpriced due to it being bite sized pieces for almost $20-30 a pop. The service members do beg for tips which ruined the experience.

Swan Oyster Depot is a bustling landmark known for its raw-bar fare and casual seafood. The no-frills counter nook in a fish market attracts crowds of pilgrims eager for the first briny jolt of raw oysters, creamy-crunchy-cold bites of crab, and other super-fresh shellfish. Despite the inevitable wait, visitors are made to feel right at home when they finally sit down behind the counter.
People say overrated. Some say underrated. Whatever they say, I don’t care. Everything was amazing, fresh, and worth the wait. I don’t know how Swan Oyster manages to maintain the neighborhood vibe that they do after so many years and so many visitors, but they do so in a way that exceeds your expectations. 2 beers, crab legs and half cracked crab, crab cocktail, and clam chowder: $113 and a 1.5 hour wait to get in. Well worth it.

Buttery oysters were from WA Clam chowder is less creamy than you might expect

Stepping into Swan Oyster Depot is like stepping back in time to a place that has perfected the art of fresh seafood. This is a no-frills, counter-seating-only institution, and its charm is in its authenticity and, of course, its incredible food. The menu is a dream for any seafood lover. We ordered the combination seafood salad (often called the Sicilian Sashimi), and it was a stunning plate of fresh-off-the-boat tuna, salmon, and white fish, perfectly accented with olive oil, capers, and a squeeze of lemon. The smoked salmon was equally amazing—buttery, delicate, and served with fantastic sourdough bread. The guys behind the counter are true professionals, shucking oysters and preparing plates with incredible speed and skill. The atmosphere is loud, busy, and full of happy customers. It's more than a meal; it's a true San Francisco experience. Essential Tips: • CASH ONLY! The sign in the window isn't joking. • Arrive early (even before they open) to get a spot in line. • Be prepared to stand, but know that the reward is one of the best seafood meals you'll ever have.

This place is legendary. I saw it and came to it because of the late Anthony Bourdain. I totally see why he loved it. Total seafood bliss. Expect a queue to get in and its a cash only place. Its totally worth it.

Came in right when they opened on a weekday. Played it safer with half the smoked salmon and a cup of chowder since I was having it for breakfast. So yummy!! Incredibly kind and chill staff. You’re coming here for great food and even better vibes. Chill at the bar; good music. The place just feels so rich with community and history. Cash only! Would go back and would recommend.
Taylor G — Google review
If you find yourself wandering the fog-drenched streets of San Francisco, there’s a little place that, on paper, might seem unassuming—hell, it even looks like it’s stuck in a time warp. Swan Oyster Depot is the kind of place that could easily get lost in the hustle and bustle of the city. But don’t be fooled. It’s a treasure. A shrine to the good stuff, the fresh stuff, the seafood that doesn’t need a fancy chef’s twist to be perfect. It just is. Now, let’s talk about the experience. You walk in, and it feels like you’ve stepped into a fishing village in the 1950s. The counter's cramped, the stools are old-school, and you might share a space with a few strangers who, by the end of your meal, will feel like lifelong friends. There’s no pretension here—just raw, unadulterated love for the ocean's bounty. The oysters? God, the oysters. You’re not just tasting shellfish; you’re tasting the ocean. Every briny, delicate bite is like a postcard from the coast. Whether you go with the oysters from the West Coast or the East, you’re in for a revelation. It's that pure, that clean, that refreshing. No need for cocktail sauce, no gimmicks. Just ice-cold, straight from the water, and a squeeze of lemon. There’s a reason people line up for these. But let’s get into the real magic here, the stuff you’re probably not hearing about in tourist brochures—the off-menu dishes. First, the Sicilian sashimi. Don’t be shy; ask for it. When you get it, what you’re holding in front of you is not your average sashimi. This is simplicity at its finest. The fish is cut with a precision that feels almost like a surgical procedure, and the olive oil, lemon, and herbs just enhance the sweetness of the flesh. A little salt, a little pepper. Nothing overpowers, nothing competes. Just pure, clean fish that tastes like it was pulled straight from the water moments before it hit your plate. Next up: the octopus salad. I mean, who knew octopus could be this tender, this nuanced? It's not rubbery, not tough like you might expect. Instead, it's got this almost buttery quality—like it’s been simmered in the ocean itself. Add a sprinkle of garlic, a handful of parsley, and a little squeeze of lemon, and you’ve got yourself a dish that will make you rethink everything you thought you knew about octopus. But wait, there's more. And I’m talking about the Boston clam chowder—and I don’t say that lightly. If you’re expecting the usual thick, creamy stuff that’s more flour than clams, think again. This chowder is lighter, cleaner, but still indulgent. The broth is perfectly seasoned, rich in clam essence without being overpowering. And the clams? Tender. Sweet. It’s comfort in a bowl, like the ocean wrapped in a warm blanket. One spoonful, and you’re transported. In a place like this, it’s clear they don’t need to reinvent the wheel. They don’t need flashy plating or trendy twists. They’ve got the classics down to an art form—and the love they put into each dish is undeniable. You can taste it in the way they serve their seafood, fresh and unapologetically simple. So, do yourself a favor: skip the fancy spots. Skip the “modern” interpretations. Swan Oyster Depot is where the magic happens. It’s unassuming, it’s humble, and it’s absolutely perfect. No hype, no bullshit—just real seafood, done right. This place doesn’t need a Michelin star. It’s already a legend.

Lining up at 8:30 am and got seats after half an hour😏 cash only. Totally worth it. My hub said it might be the best seafood restaurant he ever had in America🇺🇸. 11 out of 10. We r coming back!

Nopa is a popular Californian restaurant known for its focus on fresh, local ingredients and creative cocktails. The two-story setting offers a lively atmosphere for diners to enjoy Mediterranean-inspired dishes. The restaurant has an inviting outdoor dining area with heat lamps and comfortable seating, creating a warm and welcoming ambiance on Hayes Street. Nopa's farm-to-table practices ensure that many of their menu items are gluten-free, making it a favorite among diners in the Bay Area.
Food was great. I ordered a couple of drinks and some food. Was recommend to try the chicken which was better than expected. Crispy skin, juicy and hot (fresh), the pickled veggies that came along were mint! Will try something else next time. Well worth it. Only caveat, is it was REALLY loud while I was there. I sat at the bar and had to put my headphones in just to turn down the noise.

Fun concept with a different menu everyday. Ate Moroccan fried chicken. Seasoning was amazing, chicken was very juicy and crust was super crispy. Was a little bit too much oil left on the chicken for my taste. Had a side of peppers with aioli and peaches, taste was great.

nopa gets a nope from me. the service was lackluster, with our mains coming out over 40minutes late. the food was forgettable, with the salad being the best dish of the night. overall disappointed with this place and it was laughable how far they fell from the mark. early girls: refreshing and juicy, enjoyed this dish cultured bread and butter: nothing memorable, bread was cold fried chicken: hard skip, too salty but also bland cheeseburger: why did i have to build my own burger. wasn’t even tasty. skip. tagliatelle: solid dish
Andrea S — Google review
Nopa is a standout experience, but what impressed me the most was the impeccable service. The staff was incredibly courteous and attentive, making the entire meal feel special from start to finish. While the menu changes daily, you can count on excellent quality. We had the fried chicken, trout, and the Nopa burger, and everything was fantastic. The burger deserves a special shoutout—the house-made brioche bun is perfectly soft, and the patty is thick, fresh, and cooked just right. The drinks are also top-tier; I asked for an espresso martini (which isn't on the menu), and it was the most perfectly balanced one I've ever had. The restaurant offers a few different vibes depending on where you sit. The second floor felt the most intimate and stylish, while the outdoor seating is a great option if you prefer a quieter setting. A crucial tip: get a reservation. It will make your life so much easier. While they do take walk-ins, you should expect a wait. For a place that nails everything from service to food to cocktails, Nopa is absolutely worth planning ahead for.

Absolutely stellar service, food, and drinks. Our server was attentive and helpful all the way through. The fried chicken was stellar. Sweetly spiced and paired well with the blistered shishitos. And having a flight of whiskeys that are rare and usually pretty pricey (Larue, Handy, Van Winkle) for under $30 was a huge surprise. An extra Elmer T Lee pour for $24 was the icing. Just a fantastic experience. 👏

Great spot for dinner with nice outdoor seating. We had a total of 6 dishes and enjoyed them all. The cocktail and wine selection was very good, as well.

Solid as always. Some notes for future me: Crudo and burger were perfect, summer sorbets were so creamy-textured, cookies were warm and good but I wish chewier, soup was a little salty but great texture, wish fries were crispier.

Restaurant
State Bird Provisions is a popular restaurant located on Fillmore Street, offering an urban-rustic setting and a changing menu of American small plates served dim-sum style. Executive chef Stuart Brioza and his team, including chef de cuisine Gaby Maeda, showcase their talent through the creative Asian-inflected California cuisine. The dining experience features 'commandables' where patrons can order everything from the menu in a standard-style manner.
State Bird Provisions is a fun, exciting, and overall great restaurant. The set menu is solid and a good place to start, but the real magic lies in the small bites that come out of their kitchen like little surprises. The chefs, dressed in white, feel like culinary wizards—constantly creating bold and unexpected flavors that keep the experience lively. Despite how busy it was, the staff remained impressively attentive and welcoming. While nothing completely blew my mind, I also can’t recall anything disappointing—it was consistently enjoyable across the board. I’d definitely recommend it—not just for the food, but for the playful and engaging dining experience that makes it feel special.

State Bird Provisions was a unique experience, although the price is high (over $60 per person) for the experience and food quality. The Californian Japanese fusion with a dim sum style in a cool, relaxed atmosphere. Could be great for friends but might not be the best choice for a date. It's a good idea to know what you want before hand and be patient waiting for the carts. Unfortunately for us, the guinea hen dumpling was missed. Likes: Scallop crudo: Fresh and tasty, with a spicy-sour sauce and blackberries. Desserts: Peanut milk with vanilla and the matcha cookie & cream. Steam egg tofu: A solid steamed egg dish with chili oil and pickled mushrooms. Dishes that didn't quite hit the mark: Fried quail: A little dry, even with the pumpkin seed crust. Pork belly salad: Not really a salad, more like two pieces of pork belly that were fried and needed more plums to cut the richness.

Interesting experience. If you had a choice between this and their sister restaurant, the progress, I would go to the progress. When we arrived, the first server was present and friendly. Shortly after, he was MIA. We had a server who was offering plates in dim sum style. We took some dishes from there but still didn’t know who to order from. The food, overall, was tasty but not as good compared to the sister restaurant.
Josephine S — Google review
Loved the creative dim sum–style service with a modern twist! From the cart, the trout dip and duck lover mousse were both excellent — rich, flavorful, and beautifully presented. From the à la carte menu, the CA State Bird with Provisions totally lived up to the hype — crispy, juicy, and unique. The pork milanesa, though, was a bit underwhelming compared to everything else. Overall, a fun and memorable dining experience worth trying!
Priyanka T — Google review
I love bringing friends and family here so they can experience State Bird, and I’ve been here four times. If you’ve ever been to a dim sum place, it’s a similar concept where food is rolled around on carts, except instead of dumplings, you’ll find things like oysters, garlic bread with burrata, and financiers with duck liver mousse. That’s the fun of it—you get a surprise dish or two to add to the table. There’s also a regular menu for larger plates, and the smaller items come around on the carts. It’s a really fun dining experience, overall. The staff are always friendly and attentive without being overbearing. I’ve had to book weeks in advance each time, so I definitely recommend planning ahead. Pro tip from my last visit: if you arrive early, you can grab drinks next door at The Progress. They’ll let you bring your wine or beer over to State Bird once your table’s ready.
Michelle T — Google review
I love the concept, though a bit problematic. You can expect from the menu what they would serve carted out of the kitchen, but the eyes can be hungrier than your stomach at times. You got full from the first few dimsum style serving that didn’t really do it for you and you wonder if the last few ones would have tasted better. Smaller serving maybe 🤷🏼‍♂️ Food presentation looked great, I just wish there was at least 1 dish that wowed me. Service and energy of the place were great 👍🏼
Vin P — Google review
Lovely dining experience but unfortunately the food left much to be desired. I’m not in a rush to come back. If I do, I’d only order from the trays and make sure to get bubbly drinks. Although they do take walk-ins, I’d recommend making reservations. + Interesting concept, though they no longer use dim sum carts and only had waiters going around with trays + Really great service and ambience. Sat at the bar and really enjoyed watching everyone cooking together and preparing the dishes for the trays. I dined solo but felt well cared for, and had a good time + Portion size was small, making it easy for sampling a variety of dishes. For items on the main menu, they allowed half portions (and even quarter portion for the pancakes). This was great for me as solo diner + Absolutely loved the Chèvre ice cream sandwich! The state bird and and liver mousse with financier were also quite good +/- Horchata was a bit too sweet, and definitely not a good pairing with all the food. Should have done some sort of sparkling drinks to help cleanse my palate +/- Also tried the oyster, duck dumpling, trout chip n’ dip. All of them were just fine. I’d probably skip them next time. The egg tofu was boring but it was a painfully needed lighter dish to cut the grease and heavy flavors of the other dishes - Food was rather one note. They were either overwhelming sour, or too salty, or too greasy. If this is only for 1-2 dishes, it’d have been fine. But it got boring and too heavy when all the dishes were like that. I’d prefer the food to be on the lighter, more delicate side. Options from both the main menu and trays were also mostly fried stuff - The fish stick was absolutely horrendous and super dry. The pancakes were underwhelming and I’d not order it again

Fun experience with dim sum cart style dining. Service was great, staff were friendly. Small bites were good but not memorable: - Oysters: play of texture between the crunchy kohlrabi kraut and oyster - Smoked trout dip: good balance of acidity, savory, and creamy -Tofu and shiitake: loved the shiitake, tofu is bland - Cucumber and miso aioli: sesame chili oil cucumber with a creamy sauce - Peach and corn cream: the best most fragrant peach I’ve ever tasted - Lilikoi ribs: tart with a hint of spice sauce, tender lil riblets Menu items: - Whole wheat pancakes with heirloom tomatoes (1/2 order): chewy texture, on a denser side but combo works - Esquite shrimp toast (1/2 order): delish, right balance of flavors and texture - my fav out of all the small dishes - Hand cut noodles: perfect chewy noodles. Sauce is Sichuan inspired and interesting. Didn’t like the first bite but it grew on me. - Rendang Steak: A MUST. Thought this meal is a 3.5* until the steak. It blew me away - perfect medium rare, tender, and the sauce, herbs, crunchy rice combo was *chef’s kiss* - Corn ice cream sandwich: good but the pluot caramel sauce overpowered corn flavor - Peanut milk: liquid peanut but light and not dense like peanut butter A 4* meal because it was fun and the steak 👌

Kin Khao, located at the Parc 55 hotel, is a vibrant and modern Thai restaurant that offers locally sourced dishes and cocktails. The restaurant's colorful decor complements its bold curries, which are a highlight of the Michelin-starred establishment. Chef Pim Techamuanvivit's passion project aims to elevate traditional Thai cuisine by using produce, meat, and seafood from local Northern California suppliers.
not sure why all the negative comments, probably cause positive experiences dont urge reviews to post as much? we had an absolute amazing time, and i think this place indeed deserves the Michelin star. cons: a bit dingy and crammed to my liking. and not the most airy and ventilated pros: i generally expect three criteria in fine dining: taste, innovation, portion size(most restaurants fail at this) and 5star in each category. the fried chicken and thai pad were nice twists on our favorite foods. the pork was cooked to perfection. drinks were delicious as well! we were served hot towel after chicken wings and our tables meticulously cleaned after each course.
Sayan M — Google review
I came into this meal with high expectations, especially given that the restaurant boasts a Michelin star. With a reservation secured, I was genuinely excited to see what the buzz was about. Unfortunately, the experience left me underwhelmed, primarily due to the food. Despite the prestige, the dishes were merely average—well-executed, perhaps, but lacking in creativity, boldness, or the kind of memorable flavor you’d expect from a starred kitchen. Considering the elevated price point, the overall value just didn’t hold up. There was no glaring flaw in execution, but nothing stood out either. Each course felt safe, predictable, and ultimately forgettable. On a brighter note, the service was impeccable—attentive, professional, and well-paced throughout the meal. The staff certainly lived up to the fine-dining reputation, and the ambiance matched the upscale tone of the evening. However, if you’re visiting specifically because of the Michelin distinction, I’d suggest tempering your expectations—or perhaps looking elsewhere. There are other restaurants at this level that deliver a far more compelling culinary experience for the price.

Casual for a Michelin Star restaurant, but the flavors are really there. If you thought you had Thai food, this is a next level rendition. Highly suggest reservations ahead of time as the wait can be almost an hour on a busy night. Dining area does get loud with conversation, so if you want something quiet this is not the place. The pad kee mao and massaman nuea are highly recommended. A blast of flavor and premium ingredients to recreate common Thai dishes.

Really delicious meal at Kin Khao. We had the Nom Tok beans, tomato salad, Khao Yum , Pad Kee Mao, and Delicata Penang curry. They have a a lot of dishes that are veg forward and full of flavor. The first dishes came out super fast and continued with good pacing throughout the meal . This was my second time here and would come back again.

Overall A: this place indeed deserves the Michelin star, excellent taste, innovative, appropriate portion size. On a Sunday night with a 5 o'clock reservation, we had Yum Polamai stonefruit shallot cilantro salad, Pad Kee Mao drunken noodles pork onions basil, Khun Yai's Rabbit Green Curry pork meatballs basil, NA cocktails, Soi Ari pineapple lime, and Bang Rak tumeric lemon that was too bitter. Family style is usually our approach, and we were able to make 4 meals out of the two.

Loved Kin Khao! Amazing wine selection to pair with Thai food and great cocktails/mocktails too. Highlights were the Hot Chicken Wings, Saeng Wah ceviche, and the Black Cod Gaeng Kua — absolutely Michelin star–worthy!
Raina B — Google review
We went there for our anniversary, but it’s a disappointing experience. Thai food has always been my favorite, and a you-can-never-go-wrong category, but KinKhao really tells me how wrong that idea is. The food should be authentic, according to the website and the menu. We ordered what’s recommended by the waitress, yum polamai as appetizer, massaman nuea for main dish, and namprik long lua for side. Yum polamai is fine, it is acidic and that does the job for an appetizer. I didn’t like it but it’s not bad. The second dish is namprik long lua, which is a bunch of fresh veggies and the dip. It’s just not a good combination, the dip is salty and doesn’t go well with cucumber, fig or the papaya. The only thing the dip worked with is the fried eggplant. At this point I was already kind of disappointed, but I still had hope for the curry. Finally, the main dish massaman nuea is served, which is braised beef in massaman curry, and I got really upset. After the appetizer, and the salty dip with veggies, the curry shouldn’t be something that tastes like nothing. It should be more flavorful, not bland. The beef is tender but it’s got no flavor. Who likes this stuff? And who gives this restaurant a Michelin star? The Michelin star is as good as an one-star review. If you have never had Thai, and this is the first time at a Thai restaurant, I’m sorry.
Adam C — Google review
I went to this Thai restaurant yesterday, and honestly, I was pretty disappointed. The food itself wasn’t great, but that actually wasn’t the biggest issue. The real problem was that there were lots of little flying bugs while we were eating. One even landed right on our papaya salad. I’m someone who’s quite sensitive to hygiene and bugs, and I really can’t accept having flying insects around while I eat—especially when there are enough that they land on the food. That raises serious concerns about cleanliness for me. Also, the prices weren’t cheap. For Thai food, I feel like $50 per person is on the high side. The location wasn’t super easy to find, and if you need to use the restroom, you have to ask for a key, which is a bit inconvenient. As for the service, it wasn’t unfriendly overall, but one of the staff had a very cold expression and didn’t seem very welcoming. There was a younger woman who was friendlier and more helpful, though. In terms of the food: • Most dishes were quite greasy and salty. • The papaya salad tasted overly pickled, like it had been marinated too long. • The sausage had a strong lemongrass flavor but was also overly salty. • The pork rinds tasted stale, like they had been fried too long but weren’t crispy, and had very little flavor. • The pad see ew was extremely oily and salty as well. I honestly don’t understand how this place got a Michelin star 🤔. If you’re looking for a high-quality Michelin experience, this place might not be the best choice—especially with this kind of hygiene situation, which left me very confused. Just hoping to help others avoid a disappointing visit!

Plow, located in Potrero Hill, is a popular brunch spot known for its farm-to-table American comfort food and cozy ambiance. The restaurant is famous for its fluffy lemon ricotta pancakes and no-reservation policy, making it worth the wait. The casual dining room and adjacent parklet provide a warm and rustic atmosphere, reminiscent of having breakfast at a friend's house.
I’ve always wanted to try this place, and I finally made the trip to PLOW! It was the best decision I ever made to take my wife to breakfast. The customer service was amazing. Everybody is so nice. Wait time was not long at all and they have a sitting area outside. The food was absolutely delicious and the atmosphere was good. If you’re looking to go have breakfast and a low-key spot with great food great vibes. I definitely recommend checking out PLOW SF. If you take the time to come, I can promise you that you will not be disappointed. This is a must visit breakfast location, I highly recommend you give it a try.

Great service from start to finish. We came around noon on a Wednesday and it was surprisingly busy. The space is small, so seating can be tight you might end up sharing a table unintentionally. Our food came out quickly and everything tasted fresh, clearly made in-house. I had the fried chicken sandwich, which was good but could’ve used a bit more flavor. The buttercream biscuit was my favorite thing I tried so good! I’m definitely coming back to try one of the sweet dishes they looked delicious.

The lemon and ricotta pancakes were 10/10. I had The Plow for breakfast with the sausages and every single thing in my plate was to die for. The servers were super nice. Amazon overall experience. Definitely want to go back.

Cozy and nicely situated in a bit distant neighborhood, away from the tourist attractions which gives it a home style food spot. We enjoyed great breakfast, especially those distinguished “lemon ricotta pancakes” along with scrambled eggs, and surely, many cups of great Americano coffee. I commend the notable customer attention and prompt service, despite the busy pace and the pretty filled seatings with many customers. In case you arrive late, expect to line in the queue…it worth waiting.
Ahmed J — Google review
Plow is one of those San Francisco brunch spots that lives up to the hype—and the line out the door proves it. Even on a Friday morning before 11 a.m., we had to wait about 45 minutes, but once the food hit the table, it all made sense. We ordered “The Plow,” their signature plate with eggs your way, sausage, crispy potatoes, and two pancakes. The potatoes were golden and addictive, the pancakes fluffy and melt-in-your-mouth—easily the stars of the plate. We also tried the albacore tuna sandwich, which was fresh and flavorful. The vibe is bright and cozy, with both indoor and outdoor seating, and the service kept things running smoothly despite the crowd. If you go, come hungry, bring patience for the wait, and know that the first bite of those potatoes and pancakes will make it all worthwhile.

tried the chia seed pudding which was amazing and the toppings worked perfectly together, also tried the fried egg sandwich which was good and the potatoes were crispy but a large portion. we split the almond flour pancakes and added the house jam, they were good but probably wouldn’t get again as the consistency was not to our liking. Overall an amazing experience and would definitely come back.

I’ve eaten here twice now and my absolute favorite thing is the biscuit with honey butter. it’s a large buttery, perfectly baked biscuit that comes with a generous side of honey butter. Overall, their food is good, the plow breakfast plate gets a solid 7/10 from me. But for a 90min - 2hr wait, which is common here on the weekend because the space is small, I want a meal that’s unforgettable. People seem to really love this place and I love that for the restaurant! Next time they see me, it’ll be to order that biscuit again.
Tiese E — Google review
It's a decent brunch spot with some unique menu items, but I'm not sure I'd ever recommend coming here. For the price, the value you obtain is very low. The only thing that was unique about the Plow is the lemon ricotta pancake. Would I pay $40 for that? Absolutely not. It's edible. Location is also weird. The inside is casual, but slightly cramped. The outside seating looked uncomfortable. The open kitchen is great though. Loved watching the chefs at work. Service is also excellent! Constant check-ins, coffee refills, handed me the menu right away, cleared dishes smoothly. Definitely 100% here. All-in-all, it's a one and done sort of place for me. I don't regret, but I'm also not coming back. Worth a try once if you're around the area?

Nari is a stylish restaurant offering a fusion of Thai and Californian cuisine, along with creative cocktails. The well-lit dining room features high ceilings and lush plants, creating an elegant botanical atmosphere. The menu, crafted by Chef Pim Techamuanvivit, presents dishes that combine sour, sweet, and spicy flavors in inventive ways. Located within Japantown's Hotel Kabuki, Nari pays homage to its name which means 'women' in Thai.
Exceptional. As a Thai-American who grew up in Los Angeles (w/ the largest Thai population outside of Thailand) and who visited Thailand many times, I can't believe such great Thai food exists in San Francisco, but it's true! It's upscale and refined, but very authentic in flavors. Very worthy of the Michelin star and accolades. Highly recommend everything about this place, from every dish to the service and atmosphere.. it's worth it.
Pam V — Google review
The restaurant has a lovely atmosphere with a vibrant, stylish vibe. Service was warm and attentive, definitely a highlight of the experience. That said, the food didn’t quite meet Michelin-level expectations. Most dishes felt overly oily and heavy, with the exception of one standout that was well-executed. Flavors lacked the balance and refinement I was hoping for. The cocktails, however, were excellent, creative and well-crafted. I’d recommend stopping by for drinks and ambiance, but overall, the dining experience felt more average than exceptional.

I had dinner at Nari, and it was an incredible experience from start to finish. The restaurant has a beautiful, modern atmosphere that still feels warm and welcoming. Service was attentive, knowledgeable, and thoughtful throughout the evening. The food was the real highlight—each dish was layered with bold, complex flavors that truly showcased the depth of Thai cuisine in a contemporary style. The presentation was elegant without feeling overdone, and every plate felt carefully balanced. Standouts included the creative small plates, the perfectly cooked proteins, and the way spices and herbs came together in harmony. Nari is definitely on the higher end in terms of pricing, but the quality and experience make it well worth it. It’s a perfect spot for a special dinner in San Francisco.

I finally tried this Thai place after walking past it for ages, and I'm so glad I did! The food had an amazing, strong spicy flavor that really hit the spot. The service was also excellent, and the staff were very friendly and attentive. It's a nice spot to enjoy a delicious meal, especially since the area is great for a walk afterward. I would highly recommend it!

Nothing wrong with this place. Food tastes great but not wow as you would expect for the price point. If you have money to spare and want to check this Michelin star restaurant off your checklist go for it but there are much cheaper Thai places around the Bay Area that taste as good as Nari.
Pedro V — Google review
Nari has powerful flavors. It exemplifies traditional Thai spices and ingredients, a lot more orthodox than I expected, but presented in a modern fusion style. Being newly awarded a Michelin star, we walked in with high expectations. Let's get done with the amazing aspects. Modern, chic, woody atmosphere at the Kabuki Hotel. Already perfect for a date night to impress. Airy space. Contemporary decor. Soft lighting. Bustling yet not noisy ambience. Good table spacing. All amazing. And the service was fabulous. Again, everything screamed of fine dining without the unnecessary level of snootyness. The food is punchy. Every single dish can stand on its own and again, tries to scream in your mouth that they are special. Flavor layering is well done especially with the bit-sized appetizers. The sauces also play a very important role, whether they are pre-applied or poured on top of. The spice profile tries to run towards the moderate middleground but again, the chef is not compromising but rather giving you a bit of break. Otherwise, jumping from one dish to another is a powerful but taxing experience. The food is great and for the tasting menu price of $125, we think it is really well worth it. But Nari's tasting menu also highlights that more is always not necessarily better. Due to the powerful flavors, your tongue and brains get tired half-way through. There's no breather. No palate cleanser. And many of these dishes in Thai are served with rice or roti. But as a tasting menu, these neutral carbs cannot be the star of the show. Hence you get punches after punches. And then the quantity. It's just a tad bit too much. When you are trying to down a tasty curry after 6~7 courses of tasting, it just overwhelms. Either make everything bite-sized or reduce the complexity of the main course. Nari can easily take this to the next level by balancing out their course better. Every dish screams to be special, and they are. But the harmony of them put together in a sequence is where there needs to be tuning. And feel free to remove a dish or two and replace it with neutral flavors like a mild soup, etc. Finally, I higly recommend ordering a light, netrual and more earthy wine. Without it, you will really have a tough time jumping from one dish to the next. And trust me, you'll feel exhausted after you finish. It's a great experience overall. There's more that Nari can do!
Wook C — Google review
We tried the tasting menu. There was not enough variation in the dishes. The pork in the different dishes tasted the same. It would have been better if the amount of food was halved and the taste was better. I was very full without satisfaction.
Nayeong K — Google review
Ok, this might be a hot take, but my friend and I didn’t enjoy our meal here nearly as much as another friend who went with the course menu. Since the course didn’t include some of their most popular dishes (like the Eggplant Curry), we stuck with à la carte. The logic? Popular dishes are often made more frequently, which should mean better consistency and dialed-in flavors. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case here. To be honest, I much preferred the elevated casual Thai I’ve had in Boston and NYC. Naem Khao Tod – Crispy sticky rice, so texturally it was fun. But it was way TOO spicy. Even my friend with a higher spice tolerance struggled to finish without chugging water. There were a lot of peanuts, which added a nutty depth, but overall, the heat just overwhelmed everything. I couldn’t remember any flavor details an hour later, only the fire. Miang Pla – Branzino was better, but again, the dish leaned way too heavily on chili sauce and peanuts. Like, an ungodly amount of peanuts. Squid & Pork Jowl – The only dish I genuinely enjoyed. The flavors were familiar. Very reminiscent of Korean charcoal-grilled marinated pork. Super tender meat and squid, and the leftover juices made for a great pour-over on sticky rice. Eggplant Curry – Good curry, but not worth the hype. The curry was too watery, and despite a creamy coconut base, it was still aggressively spicy. The fried eggplant added crunch but not much flavor. Maybe the kitchen was having an off night, but this didn’t come close to the best curries I’ve had. Gaeng Som Pla – Probably the most unique flavor profile of the night. The concentrated fat of the lightly cured kanpachi worked well against the sharp, tangy red curry. It was also very spicy, but unlike the others, the natural fat from the fish gave it some balance and contrast. Service was quite poor for a Michelin-starred restaurant. Arguably one of the worst I’ve experienced at this level. After taking our orders, our server was largely absent, and she seemed more engaged with her colleagues and resetting empty tables than checking in on us.

Spark Social SF is a vibrant addition to the Mission Bay neighborhood, offering a diverse selection of food trucks and beverages in a relaxed outdoor setting. The permanent food truck park features swing benches, fire pits, and scattered seating, creating a festive atmosphere for visitors. With rotating vendors offering an array of culinary delights such as ramen, acai bowls, gyro salads, poke, and Asian fusion sandwiches, there's something to satisfy every craving.
Went for the first time last week on a Sunday. Had a bunch of fun. Great food and cool vibe. We took both of our dogs and it was cool to see a bunch of other dogs. Definitely want to go back and try more food. Forgot where I ordered from but the burger and sandwich we had were amazing.

Cool food truck neighborhood. Sheltered benches to eat if you need to find a place to get out of the chill and warm up. Fire pits needed to be rented out in advance by the looks of it.

We hosted our night-before-the-wedding welcome event at Spark Social SF in the Corner Cove, and it was perfect! Having a dedicated corner made it easy for friends and family to gather, relax, and enjoy the evening together. One of the best parts was being able to bring our “Dog of Honor” so everyone could meet him, since he wasn’t allowed at the wedding venues. The food truck vouchers worked out great—guests loved being able to choose their own food and drinks. The whole atmosphere was fun, casual, and exactly what we wanted. Everyone had a wonderful time, and we couldn’t have picked a better spot!

Lots of options and consistently good food quality, but the prices are on par with sit-down restaurants. Still, it’s a fun place to hang out with coworkers and friends, with far more variety than a single restaurant can offer.

We we're looking for something fun to do in the city with the kids and some friends on a Friday night and at the same time be comfortable & accommodate everyone. Booking online was very easy, and check in was smooth. It was very easy to find one of the staff members who set us up with the fire and brought us the fixings for smores. When we ran out of s'mores , they happily replenished our stock. The kids had a blast and the variety of food trucks kept everyone happy. We like coming here because its clean, safe & fun. Highly recommend 👌🏽

Well thought out idea. The space was very clean. The food trucks were great. The staff was very responsive before and during the event. Only recommendation is to get more sun coverage. Maybe extra large umbrellas will provide more coverage. I will definitely do another event there. Thanks for a great time. Kathy

Reem's California Mission is a welcoming spot that offers a variety of shared plates, flatbreads, and Arab specialties. Despite facing challenges such as a fire in December 2020, the bright and airy cafe has made a comeback with a full menu featuring hot prepared dishes, sweet and savory pastries, as well as beer and wine.
So I was asked by a friend to try their Pali Cali. I didn't even know what they look like but finally I gave it a shot today. It was good. The spices were very interesting. Chicken well done. Bread was very authentic. It was a good experience. Though I know a Mediterranean place is good from their falafel. Next on my list. Vibe: 5 stars - The Arabic music, fresh flowers, and a candle on the table ♥️
Yashash G — Google review
Stylish, tasteful and relaxed sophistication. A very California take on Middle Eastern classics. Falafel Salad is satisfyingly good, with enough of a savory crunch to satiate even the most avid of meat eaters. Perfect for a friendly catch up or a first date with someone very health conscious.

Tucked in San Francisco’s Mission District, this cozy Mediterranean spot blends rustic charm with vibrant flavors. Guests enjoy mezze, wood-fired kebabs, and fresh seafood, paired with local wines and craft cocktails. Warm service and lively energy make it a favorite for both casual nights and celebrations.

Very sweet restaurant. The Lady at the counter was honestly so sweet and the food tasted amazing! A little long wait for a salad and not many people there, but it was worth it! Bit pricy for the portion size. The Falafel was delicious!!

Stumbled on this spot and was seriously impressed. The Arabic food was incredible. It was rich, flavorful, and clearly made with care. What really stood out was the California twist. Fresh ingredients, creative touches, and nothing felt heavy or overdone. Every dish had its own personality, and everything I tried was just so good. You can tell they really know what they’re doing in the kitchen!

I love Reem's. I always get the Pali Cali which is delicious. The baba ghanouj and falafel were also great. The cheesy phylo dessert was also amazing. The staff was super friendly and the space was cozy and comfortably accommodated our group of 5 at 7pm on a Friday night. My only complaint is that the musician was loud.

Very good food served in a casual atmosphere. They close at 3pm so lunch is a perfect time to visit. Arab street food but California style. BTW..they make their own Pita bread. Beer & Wine served.

We ordered through Doordash. We got Pali Cali (rolled up), Hummus with slow-roasted lamb, and Damascus Lemonade. Since we picked up right when it was ready and it was piping hot so we found a street to eat immediately. Cali Pali was so juicy. Surprisingly, I liked the pickled onions on the Cali Pali - they were sweet! The hummus with lamb was good but I wish we received more then one pita bread for it... I made sure I ate my fill to the fullest before letting my partner take their bite first!

If you're on the hunt for a unique culinary experience, look no further than Bini’s Kitchen, a gem nestled in SoMa that brings authentic Nepalese flavors to life. Helmed by the talented chef and owner Bini Pradhan, this eatery is redefining lunch options in the Bay Area with its soul-stirring dishes.
I've loved Bini's Kitchen since I first had her momos (Nepalese dumplings) at Outsidelands. And her food did not disappoint! I got the chicken entree with rice and veggie momos. The sauce it came with was so flavorful and paired well with the rice. The rice had a good bite to it. And the momos were just as delicious as I remembered them with a delicious filling. It came with a creamy sauce that had a little kick to it. I also got a side comprised of chickpeas and other beans. They were so yummy, and I have some leftovers. I think I'll pair them with za'atar toast for lunch tomorrow. I'm so happy that she opened a location at La Cocina Marketplace. When I saw the sign when La Cocina first opened, I've been patiently waiting for it to open. So glad that the day has finally come! If you have not had momos, definitely visit Bini's at any of her locations and get some. I'm gonna get the turkey momos next!

Tartine Bakery, located in San Francisco, is a beloved spot known for its use of organic ingredients to create delectable breakfast pastries, hot pressed sandwiches, and coffee. Despite the lack of signage outside the black exterior, the long line winding out of Tartine is a clear indicator that you've found the right place. The bakery has gained widespread acclaim and has become a favorite among home bakers due to its co-founders sharing their baking secrets in popular manuals like Tartine Bread.
amazing cakes and other desert here- we tried almost everything and they all soooo good. The almond tart was incredible - lots of flavors that work together but not too sweet. Sourdough is also amazing here - got a couple of options but the buttermilk is supposed to be best and quickest sell so you have to be here early to get it Chocolate cake is all right, a bit too sweet and heavy for our liking.
Yusi — Google review
Anything that we got was great. All the sandwiches have house made breads; highly recommended. Also they have great pastry and deserts and also coffee. All good. There is long waiting time and not enough seat. But you can take away and enjoy the food at Dolores park.
Turev A — Google review
Tartine Bakery is a cute shop with a great vibe, perfectly situated in a lively area near Mission Dolores Park. While everything on display looked delicious, the morning bun is an absolute standout. I was honestly amazed at how good it was - incredibly fresh, soft, and flavorful in a way you wouldn't expect. A good tip is that while the seating is limited, it's generally sufficient for a cafe of its size and it wasn't overly crowded during my visit. For anyone visiting San Francisco, I would highly recommend a stop here, especially for the morning buns. It’s a genuinely delightful experience.
Jacob C — Google review
Fantastic pastries and great location. The almond croissant was perfect and unlike any I have had before. Not too sweet and didn’t taste of artificial almond, which is extremely rare to find. The plain croissant was luxurious and everything you want a croissant to be. The morning bun was soft and had a hint of orange, which was a nice surprise. We came in on a Thursday morning around 10:30am and seating was pretty tight, but eventually a spot opened up. Will definitely be back.

I originally wanted to go to the manufactory location but the line was insane + they sold out of the fig goat cheese caramelized onion danish I wanted to try🥲 Since it wasn’t too far I just ended up walking over instead Danish was absolutely delicious with crispy edges, soft buttery inside, and a very delicious smell+taste of eggs and cheese… the caramelized onion and fig jam also paired perfectly with the slightly-dry goat cheese, which surprisingly did not feel too goaty at all. I arrived slightly late so the danish wasn’t hot but (I think) they used heated plates so it didn’t seem cold/stale at all! The cappuccino tasted okay but the milk could definitely be better foamed. Store was quite busy but it actually wasn’t that difficult to find a seat; it was a bit more on the crowded side but since everyone was quite friendly it still made for a pleasant experience.

I really liked the iced vanilla latte and the morning bun. But unfortunately I have to leave a 1 star review, as the coconut tart we purchased has this cocoon like object with some sort of eggs in it? It’s such a shame as I’ve tried calling the location multiple times for a solution with no avail, but hopefully they can get it sorted out for future customers.

Sweet Maple is a popular spot in San Francisco known for its homemade morning and lunch dishes, particularly the signature brown-sugar-glazed “millionaire’s bacon.” The restaurant is famous for its slow-cooked sweet and spicy bacon, as well as deep-fried French toast that can be drizzled with Jack Daniels infused maple syrup. Their menu offers a variety of options, but anything featuring their iconic bacon is highly recommended.
It's a shame that I can only give this place 5 stars, as I would give 10 stars if I could. The food was fresh, delicious, and plentiful. The waffle was spot on in flavor and crisp to creamy ratio. The eggs over easy were cooked to perfection, as we're the crispy potatoes. They were the perfect medium to sop up my egg. The orange juice was fresh squeezed, not from concentrate. I can't stress how yummy it was. We splurged and got the Millionaires Bacon Sampler. OMG. Each slice was thick and seasoned just right. My personal favorite was the citronella, while my boyfriend found the savory rosemary one to be his favorite. We sat outside in the outdoor seating area. It was a bit chilly, but the Chai Tea really warmed us up. It was so pretty, I almost felt guilty drinking it. It definitely tasted as good as it looked. The staff was friendly, helpful, and attentive. Things that seem hard to come by these days. They also wore these awesome Millionaires Bacon Sweatshirts. I am a big time bacon fan so I was more than thrilled to be able to purchase one of my own. The prices are a bit steep for sure, but totally worth it. I will definitely return the next time I find myself in San Francisco. Parking can be a pain to find, since it is street parking only, but we found a spot not to far away down the street. I highly recommend you check out Sweet Maple if you want a fresh and delicious breakfast, brunch, or lunch.

Top notch place all around. Loved the deep fried french toast (available as a side), millionaire bacon, and grapefruit mimosa. Thought it was a little tacky with all of the wait staff wearing $1M bacon shirts but it is very good and not to be missed.
Tom D — Google review
Close by for a DR appointment and wanted brunch. This place was the closet and we were so fortunate to have walked in. The restaurant is quick service, up-scale and unique dishes. The caramel macchiato tasted great, the deep-fried French toast was different than we'd ever had before, and the test kitchen special ramen and fried rice with the millionaire's bacon was on point. Service was fast and with a smile. We would definitely come back again.
Kris H — Google review
Sweet Maple is definitely a brunch spot worth the hype! I ordered their Big Hip— their famous deep-fried French toast— and wow, it did not disappoint. Crispy on the outside, soft and warm on the inside, and paired perfectly with pure Vermont maple syrup, butter, and powdered sugar. Absolute perfection. But the real star of the show? The Millionaire Bacon. Oh. My. God. Hands down the best bacon I’ve ever had in my life— rich, slightly spicy, sweet, and just insanely flavorful. Even if you don’t order a full meal, you HAVE to at least get a side of this bacon. It’s a must-try and totally worth the trip just for that alone!
Kevin D — Google review
When we saw the line around the block we knew it was worth the wait! Lovely little brunch place! Because of the size of our group we were sat quite fast! Service was ok, food was delicious and tasty, portions were small, and atmosphere was great! My favorite was the citrus batter french toast!
Roberto F — Google review
A friend and I walked to Sweet Maple as the sun broke through the summer fog this morning. I can imagine that on a weekend morning, Sweet Maple has a long queue of people waiting, but on this Thursday morning around 9:00am we were seated immediately. We shared a Millionaire Bacon platter (pictured) and all I can say is, if you love bacon, you will be completely delighted as you eat this bacon like a millionaire. My Marnier French Toast was delicious and flavorful. My friend had eggs prepared to perfection. The wait staff was responsive, plentiful and excellent. The environment was clean, modern and well lit.
Laura P — Google review
Generous portions, but the overall experience was underwhelming. Ladies, be prepared — I had to keep my backpack on while eating because the seating was so tight. Our party of eight felt quite uncomfortable. The servers were gathered at the kitchen counter, and even though we were seated right next to them, no one offered us coffee until we specifically asked for it. The restaurant advertises a “million-dollar” breakfast, but the menu is quite standard — nothing particularly impressive or unique. The location is in a residential area with little to see or do nearby. The outdoor seating area looks neglected, with just a few tables and no décor to make it inviting. We were also only given one napkin per plate, which felt insufficient for a full breakfast service.
Rosa G — Google review
The food was quite enjoyable, although a bit expensive. The service was excellent. The food arrived promptly, and they were very attentive about refilling my coffee. The establishment was clean and pleasant, but the tables were positioned rather closely together, which made it feel as though I was dining with the neighboring table.

Pizza restaurant
Golden Boy Pizza is a popular spot in North Beach, known for its delicious and affordable focaccia pizzas. Established in 1978 by Peter Sodini, this funky joint offers a variety of meat and veggie toppings on their deep dish slices. It's a go-to place for late-night comfort food after a night out at the clubs and bars. The simple yet flavorful approach to pizza with focaccia bread, cheese, and assorted toppings has made it an institution in the area.
I first saw this place on tiktok. Thought about it, but I never come to SF to even imagine trying it. Well, a fate brought me right around the corner and figured it was time. When we saw the long line, we knew it would be amazing. It did take a minute to get to order, but only because the folks in front were ordering pies (genius). When it was our turn, we ordered four slices, cheese, pepperoni, combo, and sausage. The pepperoni has a hint of spicy that set it off completely. The cheese was cheesy and delicious. The sausage was tasty, but that COMBO ONE... by far the best one! It had a hint of sweet, spicy, and crunchy. Next time I am in SF, I will definitely be going back. It's worth the wait.
Shi G — Google review
It’s a walk up storefront with window ordering. They offer a handful of specialties including whole pies or by the slice. Always a line when I went by but moves pretty quickly. Ordered the pepperoni and combo slices. The zucchini on the combo pizza was different but good. The pies are square! The crust is solid and holds the ingredients without sagging. A tasty and reasonably priced meal.
Michael B — Google review
Golden Boy Pizza is a whole vibe. The place has so much swag, with walls covered in stickers and a cool, energetic atmosphere that hits you as soon as you walk in. Be prepared for a line, because this place is popular-but it moves pretty fast and is absolutely worth the wait. The staff is super friendly, and the prices are very reasonable for the quality you get. The pizza itself is fantastic. I had the pepperoni, the clam & garlic, and the pesto veggie slices, and they were all delicious. For a great slice with an authentic San Francisco feel, Golden Boy is a must-visit.
Jacob C — Google review
Best pizza in San Francisco. Pick up only, call your order in to avoid a wait. The dough was great had the perfect texture, great crunch on the exterior and good chew on the middle. I had the combo, veggie pesto, and clean and garlic. The combo was the best by far perfect ratio of toppings to cheese and sauce. The veggie pesto could have used more sauce but was still fantastic. The clam and garlic was not what I was expecting, it was good but there was no clam, or so little that I couldn't tell. It was very flavorful with all the garlic but I wanted more clam. I will definitely come back if I'm in San Francisco again!
Joshua G — Google review
Pretty good pizza a lil out of your ordinary flavors but for what it is really tasty and fresh. Had a line but surprisingly moved pretty fast. Had the clam and garlic didn't really taste clams. Next time I'll try to others. Was actually surprised on the price too. Hot and hit the spot perfectly. Super friendly service too.
Raul P — Google review
Famous pizza place in the heart of SF won’t disappoint! Get ready to stay in line for a bit but it moves fast and trust me, it’s worth the wait! $4 avg price for a slice of pizza? Unheard of these days! The square was good size and delish.
Veronika F — Google review
Really appreciated that they were able to do a vegan pizza option! I got the pesto veggie without cheese and it was a delicious assortment of veggies and pesto and the focaccia crust! 4 stars only because I felt something was missing when compared to other cheese-less vegan pizzas I’ve had but will back again to try more! Staff was very helpful and nice!

Roam Artisan Burgers is a rustic-industrial eatery that offers a diverse selection of thoughtfully sourced burgers with innovative toppings and shakes. Founded by Lynn Gorfinkle and Josh Spiegelman, the conscientious owners have curated a menu that prioritizes the well-being of the natural ecosystem. The establishment goes beyond just assembling ingredients on a bun, aiming to make every element contribute positively to the environment.
Roam is a fantastic burger restaurant that left a great impression on me. From the moment I walked in, I was struck by the inviting atmosphere, which blends a modern design with a cozy vibe. The menu is impressive, featuring a variety of gourmet burgers made with fresh, locally sourced ingredients. I tried the Classic Burger, which was cooked to perfection, and the Heritage Burger, which was uniquely flavorful. The truffle fries were a standout side, adding a perfect touch to the meal. The service was excellent, with friendly and attentive staff making the experience even better. Roam is a must-visit for anyone who loves burgers and is looking for a top-notch dining experience.

I didn't know about this chain until I tried it but I was pleasantly surprised. The burger was fantastic, very clean flavour from all the ingredients, great bun, 10/10 a very satisfying experience. Would definitely recommend it to any burger enthusiasts visiting San Francisco
Álvaro M — Google review
On paper the ingredients sound fantastic and original. The execution? No so much. I'm not sure what was more disappointing. Getting my lukewarm garlic french fries 10 minutes before my lukewarm hamburger. Looking at other reviews, the french fry orders have shrank in size. I enjoyed the fries but they were cold. Not sure if Roam intended them to be appetizers because they arrive far before the main course. The garlic was excellent but the cold made them unappetizing. We waited for the hamburgers, they arrive a long while after the fries. I suspect they do a lot of uber eats; lots of drivers were picking up while we waited for food. I suspect they prioritize the Uber Eats while the dining room waits for their food. I got the build your own. The meat was dry. It felt like the patty had been sitting for a while. The meat was warm but bordering cold. Paid extra for the brioche bun, wasn't worth it. The bacon, was cold, but still very tasty. I also had the $11 milkshake. Vincent Vega would be inconsolable. "That's a shake. That's milk and ice cream. Last I heard that's $5. Uh-huh. You don't put bourbon in or nothing?" The shake was tasty but small. Like small, small and that was the "LARGE". We have very different versions of what we think is "large". Not a good value in my book. Go to Salt and Straw. Lunch for two including a build your own burger and the burger my wife got, a ice tea and a large Milkshake ran $90 with tip. It's unfortunate. They have good ingredients but miss in the execution. I suspect they have to figure out if they're a sit-down restaurant or a Uber Eats kitchen.
Mr. F — Google review
Very bland & disappointing burger. Patty had zero flavor and the toppings just don’t match. Huge bun for some reason. Cannot see the kitchen or smell anything cooking. Good atmosphere but not good food. Beer and Burger $28 if you get fries and shake you’re looking at $50 for one person.
Yaugen K — Google review
I had the classic burger which was tasty although the meat was way too pink for my taste. The fried zucchini would be much better if it had less salt; was too salty.
Charisma B — Google review

Delicious burgers delivered quickly and efficiently. It does feel a little more like a lunch place than dinner, but it was a good time regardless. They have a tasty diet cola as well. Italian restaurant
Californian restaurant
Flour + Water is a casual and rustic Italian restaurant that has been serving handcrafted pasta and wood-fired pizza for 15 years. Located in the Mission-Potrero area, it has become a confident matriarch of its family of restaurants. The restaurant offers a communal table with an unobstructed view of the roaring pizza oven where pizzas are made.
So I did not actually eat here. I ordered it through DoorDash or whatever service. That’s a lie, my mom ordered it for me. I cannot comment on their service or environment but I’m sure it is pretty good. I liked the wings. They had a great sauce on them and cooked well. I also liked the pizza. We got three pizzas and all were great. The dough is really good and the pizza is prepared how I usually like my pizza. That is thin but then a crunchy and thicker crust. Toppings and pizza was good. I’m pretty sure they do pasta as well which I should have tried. I like Italian food so I might be a bit bias towards this one. Anyways, solid place. I’m writing this a day later so I’m trying my best to remember. I am sitting outside a Thai place so we’ll see how this goes. Great food.

Went on a last-minute whim, and it turned out to be one of the best dining experiences I’ve had. The wait was long but absolutely worth it….The koshihikari arancini were crisp on the outside and creamy inside, the Taleggio Scarpinocc was rich and silky with the perfect balance of cheese and sauce, and the mais pizza had a smoky sweetness that paired beautifully with the charred crust. We ended with the velvety, indulgent dark chocolate budino. The PERFECT finish! A good portion of the menu is vegetarian, and everything was incredibly flavorful. Highly recommend!

Flour + Water Pizza Shop This restaurant has a special place in our hearts as fur parents! We dined outside with our dog, and the staff were very welcoming and accommodating. The pizza was fantastic — hot from the oven with a perfectly crispy thin crust. I loved that the pepperoni wasn’t too salty and the cheese had a beautiful melt. The drinks we ordered came in bottles, which made them a bit pricey, but overall, it was worth it for the experience. There are both indoor and outdoor seating options, and the outdoor area is perfect if you want to enjoy a meal with your furry friend. We’ll definitely be back to try more pizza flavors! 🐾🍕

From the wait staff, all the way to the chefs, you can tell a lot of care and thought was put into each and every aspect of the meal. We loved every bite and am counting the days until we can be back!! Also heard their pizzerias are phenomenal so looking for a chance to visit one of those soon too!

It was fine. We got the tasting menu. The two stand outs were the pasta and the crudo. I guess the tasting menu used to be a bunch of different pastas, wish they'd go back to that. Nothing was bad, just nothing that I want to go back and get. I love Penny Roma so was excited to finally get a reservation here. The Asparagus was just Asparagus , the stuffed pasta was a ravioli that was eh, the crab stuffed pasta thing had a weird brown gravy on it and it was too rich to eat without a sauce, soup thing had no depth and a steak is a steak is a steak, unless it's not and it's amazing. This was a steak. The pot de creme was great, but even I can make that. Maybe it was just the menu we had. Or that I expected amazing.
Billie M — Google review
We’ve had dinner here around 10 times in the past few years, mainly for the taleggio scarpinocc (a must order every time we come), but also to try the new creative pastas that change with seasonal ingredients and inspiration from various cuisines! As a result, we always order a la carte to try as many pastas as possible :) From this recent visit, some standout new pastas included the corn meal sachetti (such a cool use of huitlacoche) and juniper tortelloni (love the combo of cherries with the duck flavor!) If I had room for it, the black pepper bucatini was also intriguing to me, especially with the use of Szechuan peppercorn (one of my favorite spices!!) We also distinctly remember the use of salsa macha in pastas during our last visit. TLDR; taleggio scarpinocc is old reliable, but innovative pasta flavors keep us coming back time and time again over other Italian restaurants in the city. Attached photos are from various visits over the past few years :)

I came with family for a birthday celebration. we did not do the tasting menu. the summer squash was good but it is literally JUST squash and some jam. The pizza was also really good but it actually got amazing with the pastas. the pastas were EXCELLENT. we did the basil and the tagilottele. If i were to come back, I would get a different appetiser and maybe skip the pizza. even if you order a la carte, the servers will bring out everything like it is a tasting menu in a specific order. we thought all the servers were kind except one who was noticeably passive aggressive and while they would smile to other customers, they were very cold to us for seemingly no reason. when we called them over to ask for more wine at one point, they came 2-3 minutes later and simply stood next to the table looking at us dead in the eye waiting for a response which was extremely confusing and uncomfortable. other than this poor experience, the food and other servers were excellent.

The Rotunda is an upscale cafe located on the 4th floor of Neiman Marcus, offering a classic American menu under a signature stained-glass ceiling. It's the perfect place to indulge in tiny desserts and feel like a socialite. The restaurant is known for its daily afternoon tea, which includes generously portioned sandwiches, scones, and desserts at a reasonable price.
Cold brew coffee ice cream was outstanding! Service was very good to excellent with smartly, dressed and extremely well mannered staff. Lobster bisque and soup were terrific. The chicken salad was fine, but not fabulous and my friend’s salmon was delicious. Beautiful historic setting. Fun to see families dressed up for lunch. The cocktails looked fabulous from a distance.

The Rotunda is a must-visit if you’re looking for a beautiful and elegant lunch spot in SF! The space is absolutely stunning with its iconic glass dome ceiling and natural light pouring in—it feels both luxurious and relaxing. The food is consistently delicious, and the service is always warm and professional. It’s a great place to enjoy a classy afternoon, whether you’re celebrating something special or just want a lovely escape from the city bustle. Highly recommend making a reservation—especially on weekends or during the holiday season. That said, I’ve had luck a couple of times just walking in when they had a few open tables, so it’s always worth checking! Perfect for a stylish lunch, tea service, or just treating yourself.

My daughter and I enjoy a good afternoon tea service. This one ain't it, for lack of a better term. Was it adequate? Yes. My tea was lovely. The food was okay. The desserts on the tray looked and tasted like prepackaged treats. There was no personality in any of it. We were seated at a small upper Rotunda table with a view of a column. I just expected more for $60-something per person with a mandatory gratuity. This was a special trip to the city for us celebrating a special occasion but in the end, it was mediocre at best with the popovers and strawberry butter being the highlight.

High tea at the Rotunda is one of my favorites in San Francisco. They are the most inclusive to vegans and gluten intolerant folks. If you call, they'll suggest that you alert them to your affliction upon entering. Don't ruin it for the rest of us though. In my photos, there is a normal tower of treats next to a vegan one. The vegan one has the raw triangular treats on the top shelf. While the vegan things might not please a non-vegan, they pleased me; the Rotunda is one of the few to be inclusive to dietary restrictions. Rotunda chefs, we see and appreciate you. Thank you for the effort you expend for everyone and bring high tea to the masses.

i went to the Rotunda in Union Square after about 15 years of not going to the area. the food was very good. we have eaten at Neiman Marcus in other locations and this is our go-to place when we want a good meal. we just went to the Palo Alto Stanford Shopping center location and loved it I felt our server was a bit uptight like we were bothering him or something. other than that everything else was very good. maybe he was having a bad day would i eat there again absolutely.

My husband and daughter had our late lunch here. I had high expectations for this restaurant since it was my first time and the ambience was really chic and pleasant. We ordered the Dungeness Crab Melt, Caesar’s Salad, kid’s meal and iced teas. The Caesar Salad was good and had a large serving. The Dungeness Crab melt came that with a side of fries was ok (but was quite expensive). I was hoping it was either saltier (an addition of provolone or any other cheese) or sweeter (an addition of mayonnaise or fresh crab itself would be sweeter) to enhance the flavor of the crab. The crunch on the bread was good though. It had a little bit of a bitter aftertaste (?) probably due to the herbs. The kid’s meal was quite disappointing - the 2 piece chicken tenders were dry, the fries were overcooked and small, the “fresh” fruit cup wasn’t quite fresh at all. Service was great and the atmosphere is Instagrammable.

We went here for the afternoon tea service, which was a lot of fun. They have a few options of tea to choose from. The teas are very floral and tasty. You might think that afternoon tea pastries would not be filling, well think wrong! I felt so extremely full after everything. We started off with some chicken broth and this fluffy pastry (which tasted really good, especially with their strawberry butter i believe). Then, we got the jardin bleu tea and the nuit a versailles. then came the tower. wow there was a lot of food on this tower. they all tasted pretty good. the croissant chicken sandwich was tasty. they also gave us chocolate at the end, which was nice. the service was pretty good. they were patient and helpful. the view was very pretty too. we weren't seated at the window but the ceiling and room was very pretty. we could kind of see the street below too. overall a good experience at the rotunda.

Amazing service, delicious food, and the most stunning atmosphere. We ordered the caviar service & duck pappardelle, which surpassed our expectations. They took us 2 hours before our reservation, and our waiter was very attentive. It's not for a tight budget, but it's perfect for a fancy brunch :)

Restaurant
Rich Table is a popular Californian restaurant located in the vibrant Hayes Valley of San Francisco. The restaurant offers a unique dining experience with its open kitchen and salvaged-barn-wood space. Known for its farm-to-table approach, Rich Table serves creative dishes made from local ingredients. The menu features innovative starters like house-made wild fennel levain bread, sardine chips with horseradish dip, and dried porcini doughnuts.
We took Michael to Rich Table for his birthday since it’s his favorite restaurant in SF. We opted for the family menu, and every dish was delicious and generously portioned. The staff was also very thoughtful in accommodating our vegetarian friend—they really made sure everyone was taken care of. The service stood out the most: the team was incredibly friendly and attentive. It almost felt like a co-op with how well they worked together and how much they seemed to care. It was a fantastic experience overall, and of course, we’ll be back again.

Rich Table offers exceptional service, and every bite was a true delight. Everything we were served was a culinary adventure, paired with excellent wines. It’s not cheap, but absolutely worth the price. A wonderful experience with outstanding service, and we would love to return.

Loved the food! Nothing was groundbreaking, but all of the flavors were fresh and delicious and seasonal w/ fun combinations. The atmosphere of the restaurant was a little more casual and rustic than I would’ve liked, but I went for the earliest seating (maybe it’s more vibey in the dark?). Overall would go again!

Porcini donuts were great -- with the raclette 😋😋😋 Sea urchin spaghetti was also quite nice though I didnt notice the sea urchin too much. They also had watermelon with a tom kha sauce on it which made for a great combo. Chicken liver was too sweet for me. Everything else was mostly pretty good, except for the steak. Was pretty disappointed in that -- it was a bit tough and didnt have much flavor -- more (flavorful) sauce would have been nice. The green beans with it were completely bland, not even sure if they were salted. Dessert (mint chocolate sablé + ice cream) was great!

We had an excellent dinner during the last night of our honeymoon. The service was perfect and did everything to make the night even more special. The food was delicious and surprising, every bite was an experience and we had lots of fun. Thank you for the great time! The sardin chips and porcini donuts were delicious and very creative! The toro toas was my favourite and the burrata was also very fun! We had the sea oursin pasta that was very good as well but couldn’t really feel the sea oursin flavour. The wine recommendations were also great. For desert we had the panna cotta that was very rich and yummy!
CANDELA M — Google review
Such a great experience. The uniqueness of the ingredient combinations and the elegance with which things are prepared is quite remarkable. I started with the sardine chip which is brilliant. The sardine is so intense in its fresh, fishy flavor and combined with the whipped horseradish it's such a great foil for the intense flavors. I also had the beef dumpling which I was disappointed with. It lacked seasoning and even though there's a lot of chilies they had no heat. The chicken liver was surprising and delightful. It's quite sweet with the quince and almond and candied pecans and seems to compensate for the sweetness with an excess of flake salt. However, it does work and I would have it again. The uni pasta was just a delight, ao creamy. The shape of the pasta does enhance the experience. Thea amuse bouche was also delightful. And I had the mocktail milk washed cocktail. It had a clean yet. Creamy mouth feel with subtle notes of pickling which perfectly paired with dinner. Really delicious.

Was honestly really disappointed by Rich Table after reading all the great reviews, hearing great things from friends and most of all enjoying RT rotisserie so much. Our host who sat us gave us impeccable service but once we got seated at the bar, the service was quite average. My water glass was constantly empty and we had to get the attention of the servers more often than they automatically attended to us. The bar was quite cramped and in general the entire space feels really small, dark, cramped and divey. As for the food, we ordered the sardine chip, the dumpling, the porcini donuts, the uni tonnarelli pasta, and the chicken liver mousse. The sardine chip tasted exactly like how it sounds, a fried sardine on a chip.. very basic/nothing special. The dumplings were super disappointing, as a Chinese person I found these no better than any frozen dumpling I could get at 99 ranch except these were $$$ (not worth it). Chicken liver mousse was fine but the zucchini bread it came with was so crumbly and dry. The porcini donuts were decent and interesting but after they cooled down they weren’t as good anymore. Our favorite part of the meal was definitely the uni pasta which I thought was very good, but the portion was very small. Between me and my husband we finished the dish in two bites each. Honestly I wouldn’t come back again and don’t understand the hype and why so many people seem to love this place. I found the food to be poorly executed (looked great on menu), and lacking in interesting flavors. Really disappointed as I had expected more. Will stick to eating RT rotisserie (which I love dearly)

Dim sum restaurant
Dumpling restaurant
Restaurant
Good Mong Kok Bakery is a popular Chinese bakery located in Chinatown, known for its homemade dim sum and baked goods. Despite its compact interior and limited standing room, the bakery attracts long lines of customers eager to grab their delicious grab-and-go dim sum options. The menu includes char siu buns, turnip cakes, shrimp dumplings, and sticky rice wrapped in lotus leaf, all kept warm inside giant steamer baskets.
This place is amazing! However, be prepared to wait in line, as it’s cash only and there’s nowhere to sit. I highly recommend for you to write down/have ready the number of the item of the menu you want to order, as it will facilitate and make the ordering process faster. I tried the baked pork bun, scallion pancake, shrimp dumplings, and black sesame balls. Everything tasted fresh and delicious. The shrimp dumplings were flavorful and had a great texture, while the black sesame balls were not too oily and perfectly cooked (I could eat 1,000 of them!). I completely understand the hype surrounding this place.

Pork bun was good but one star out of concern that they touch the food with the same dirty gloves that they take your cash. I threw away the egg tart I got and just risked it and ate the bun. They alternate between using tongs or not, and she didn’t use it for mine or the next person. Her gloves were visibly stained and just didn’t sit well with me. Hoping I don’t get sick.

Went there on a Sunday at around 10h. There was one, two people in front of me. The service was very fast, counter could speak Cantonese and Mandarin. Don't expect the waitress to make some talk to you. She just asks what you want and you pay :) The Charsiubao could be filled more, I got 85% dough and 15% filling. I really liked the Xiumai and the Dantat, really brought me back to my childhood :)
Annabelle S — Google review
Loved it when I got it last year but this time around they're so aggressively mediocre. Shrimp dumplings are bland and skin is too thick and dry, pineapple pork bun is stale and bland and couldve been baked for longer, peanut and sesame mochi is too soft (no qq texture I wanted)

While working in SF Chinatown, I asked my husband to bring me pork buns. He bought dim sum and pork buns from Good Mong Kok bakery. I opened the bag and found a mouse dropping inside of the container with dim sum. I was absolutely grossed out. I will never visit this location again.

Been here twice 3 years apart and the quality, price, and freshness is consistently fantastic. Dumplings are fresh, juicy, and large portions. $3.80 for 3 gigantic dumplings, shui mai, etc is unbeatable, and better yet - they’re better than half the other options in the area. If you get here early there won’t be a massive line typically - last time at 11am I waited an hour, at 7am this time I waited 2 minutes. My recs: -Shrimp dumpling (8/10) -Shark fin dumpling (9/10) -Beef Shui Mai (9.5/10) -Scallion cake (8/10) They do take cash & card, but remember this is a takeout place - so don’t go expecting 10/10 service. Service isn’t bad, just don’t expect some of the annoyingly fake cheery service you get from some other local dumpling spots. This place has TONS of regulars, which is always a good sign in my opinion. Make sure to ask for a fork/chopsticks & double check; as you may end up eating them with your hands otherwise lol. All in all you can get a ton of food here for less than $20, and it will taste good and you’ll feel good afterwards.

Donut shop
Bob's Donut & Pastry Shop is a beloved 24-hour bakery located in the lively Nob Hill neighborhood of San Francisco. This classic and independent pastry shop has been a city staple for years, offering a variety of classic donuts and pastries. The shop's unassuming charm and the aroma of freshly fried apple fritters create an inviting atmosphere. Whether you're craving an old-fashioned glazed donut or their popular crumb donuts, Bob's has all the classic flavors.
Bob’s is a neighborhood 24-hour gem that just can’t be beat. They have all the best types - glazed, chocolate, maple, old fashioned, filled, donut holes, you name it. They’re fast, and you can watch them regularly put in fresh batches of donuts. Highly recommend for breakfast or that mid-afternoon sweet snack craving. Easy for grab and go or they have a few tables and chairs to sit at.

Bob’s Donuts is leaving 1621 Polk St. after almost 70 years! 😩😩😩 I have been going for more than 2 decades at this Bob’s location and the consistency is always at an all time high! My favorites are their original glazed and the best Crumb donut you can ever have! I miss it when you were able to sit at the counter or one of the tables but after pandemic it’s to-go only and I’m happy to say there is almost always a line outside which means I’m right…Bob’s is really good! On another positive note Bob’s I believe will keep their newer location just a block and a half away also on Polk St. See you there then! 🍩👍🏼😋

The new 24 hours Bob's Donuts location on Polk in the city! Was looking for dessert and everyone knows about this place. Their original location is 2 min walk away but I believe they will close that soon. This is their new location and much bigger with tables to sit at. Lots of donut varieties made fresh. I like the s'mores, malasadas with cream and creme brûlée donuts but better to get them early morning but gets dense after awhile. Prices are decent. Street parking is difficult in the day but at midnight, lots of parking available. Friendly service but they are busy. I would recommend for a late night snack. ;)

I visited San Francisco for my birthday trip from Chicago, and one stop stood out above the rest—Bob’s Donuts on Polk Street. This legendary 24-hour shop has been serving fresh, handmade donuts since the 1960s, and it’s a true gem. As a Chicagoan, I’ve had my fair share of great donuts (think Stan’s, Do-Rite, and Firecakes), but Bob’s has a nostalgic, no-frills vibe that makes it special. It’s the kind of place that works for both late-night cravings and early-morning sugar fixes. The donuts are big, fresh, and packed with flavor. The classic glazed raised donut is perfect, but two of my personal favorites were the apple fritter and maple bar. And if you’re up for it, they even have the famous Texas Donut Challenge—a giant donut you try to finish in under three minutes for bragging rights. My absolute favorite, though, was the Mango Malasada. Malasadas are Portuguese-style pastries popular in Hawaii, filled with tropical fruit flavors. I chose mango, and it was heaven—soft, fluffy, and bursting with sweetness. I honestly wish we had malasadas this good back in Chicago!
Angela V — Google review
I’ve heard a lot of good about this place but it didn’t fully live up to my expectations. The donuts were good and fluffy but not amazing. I tried the sugary and chocolate one. Price is very affordable though 👍
Sanna — Google review
Bob’s Donuts & Pastry Shop outwardly doesn’t look like much, but the display case of delicious-looking donuts doesn’t lie. I got an Apple fritter, both a maple and a chocolate cruller, and a crumb donut. All of them were fabulous. I don’t love overly sweet donuts, so the crumb was my favorite. That’s not to say the other ones were overly sweet though; each donut’s flavor was exceptionally balanced. The texture of the crullers were light, fluffy, and went perfectly with the creamy and sweet icing. Bob’s Donuts & Pastry shop is a great spot for classic donuts.

Californian restaurant
Sons & Daughters is a small yet highly regarded restaurant located in Nob Hill, offering an intimate dining experience with seating for only twenty-eight guests. Chef and Owner Teague Moriarity's vision was to create California-inspired dishes using locally sourced ingredients, served in a cozy and thoughtful setting. The restaurant exudes a sophisticated ambiance with its open kitchen concept and is known for its seasonal tasting menu that highlights the bounty of Northern California.
Second time eating here as i loved it the first visit and the’ve since won a second star, so i returned with high expectations. The food felt like a natural progression from my last visit, an unfussed elegant approach to cooking with a big emphasis on working with small artisans and sustainability. All of the dishes seemed to be explained by where and why they sourced the ingredients more than how exactly they cooked them. Everything i ate had a feeling of freshness and intensity of flavour, which felt quite novel to me. I sometimes find tasting menus can be overly rich and difficult to finish comfortably. Stand out dishes for me were the scollop with cured pork and turnip and the smoked duck. Although all of the food was absolutely delicious. I’m pretty sure every single person in the front of house and kitchen came and served one of the 18 courses i had. This is something i really appreciate as a solo diner because if the courses take a bit longer or if you have the same person at the table the whole evening i can feel a bit awkward or boring. They were all incredibly warm and charming and for me it kind of made the experience. To my knowledge there aren’t any other New Nordic restaurants in the area at this level, so its a must visit for anyone interested in dining in one of the west coasts new, best and exciting restaurants! Thank you to the whole team at S&D for an incredible evening 👏👏

One of the top two tasting experiences in the country. Chef Harrison and the entire team delivered an exceptional evening. Standout dishes included the venison with elderberry and the beautifully executed halibut. The beverage pairing was extraordinary highlighted by the Clos Rougeard, easily the best red wine I’ve ever tasted. Service was warm, personal, and thoughtful, with each chef introducing themselves throughout the meal. I truly can’t recommend this restaurant highly enough. Fully deserving of Top 50 recognition and even 3-star accolades. Huge thanks to Chef Harrison, Alexis, Chimay, Alex, Frida, David, Joe, Evan, and the whole team.

I had an absolutely good time dining at Sons & Daughters. The food is very delicious. Seafood is handled expertly. Besides the buckwheat course which was a bit salty for my taste, everything else tastes amazing. The highlights of the meal are the lobster and the lamb. The pairing of lamb and berries is so ingenious as the berries balance out the richness of the lamb. Nordic herbs and fermentation techniques make such a huge difference and elevate everything. Presentation is gorgeous. Wine list is superb. Service is top notch as well. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. Well deserved 2 Michelin stars in my opinion.

Came here celebrating my partner’s birthday. We had the winter tasting menu. We were impressed by the theme of the food being fermented and the reason why chef celebrates this theme. And I can still remember it well after a month. If you are interested in trying out how can food be fermented, and what they taste like in a very good form, this is the place to go! There were several dishes amazing. 1 dish tastes a little like the fish came out of a can, not bad at all, I just enjoy more from fresh live fish since I grown up next to the ocean. The service was great. Though I’d recommend to go there earlier than us, I sat down at 8:30, and finished after 11. It was a little too late for me.

Sons & Daughters, located at the end of Bush street offers an intimate and quiet fine dining experience. Under the leadership of Chef Harrison Cheney, the menu exudes Nordic minimalism and is succinct and sharply focused on dishes that showcase the kitchen's mastery of smoke, acid and local ingredients. Fermentation and presentation is present here, but never overpowering and works to nicely complement the expertly prepared aged meats and produce. We especially liked the carbonara-esque rutabaga that was dressed in smoked pork fat sauce and the perfectly roasted quail with crispy skin and sumptuous jus that accompanied it. Floral arrangements and accents also helped to accentuate and highlight the freshness and purity of ingredients. For non-alcoholic drinkers, try the blueberry wine, which has a sweet and acid-like flavor that pairs nicely with the various dishes. Staff here are pleasant and discreet and are more observant than performative allowing for diners to have catch-ups or longer conversation. Sons & Daughters is a quietly confident restaurant that leans toward seasonality, elegance and restraint. An amazing jewel that stands out among the sea of exceptional talent.

Burma Love is a modern Burmese restaurant that offers a contemporary twist on traditional dishes. As a spin-off of the renowned Burma Superstar, it provides shareable plates in a stylish setting with a bar. The menu features warm Burmese samosas and coconut chicken noodle soup, as well as classic options like Mohinga, a catfish chowder soup.
Excellent Burmese restaurant. Perfect for dates or group gatherings. Most of the food is excellent. The atmosphere is upscale without being overly formal. There is a dedicated bar and a separate dining area. Pricing (Medium-High) - This restaurant leans a bit more expensive (+$25 per plate), but the quality of the food is generally high. Wait Times (Modest) - This place gets quite busy, but lately the wait has been modest (5-15 minutes). I don’t think they do reservations, but you probably don’t need one anyways unless you have a large group. Appetizers - I personally enjoy the famous tea leaf salad and the spicy chicken wings. The calamari is also perfectly fried. The other salads are also good choices, but the tea leaf salad is outstanding. Entrees (Beef, Vegetarian) - I will generally recommend the burmese curries and the other beef dishes. All of the beef dishes here have been good. We clean these plates every time. The vegetarian dishes are also great. I really like their Garlic Eggplant dish. Entrees (Do not get Chicken) - I would recommend against most of the chicken dishes (spicy and crunchy chicken, mango chicken, mint chicken etc). The chicken dishes are okay, but not impressive. I have tried these multiple times and they are usually disappointing. The spicy and crunchy chicken is probably the best one, but that dish is deep fried and very heavy. Overall solid choice for dates, dinner parties or special occasions. High quality food at an acceptable price. Upscale location.

We went to see what the hype was about. We had the famed tea leaf salad, catfish soup and mint chicken. While service and ambiance were great the food was so-so. It was also quite pricey but dish sizes were substantial so overall it was reasonable for the area. We did not find the food really flavorful like we usually do with the Thai cuisine that we typically opt for - perhaps the Burmese cuisine is just not for us. For spicy food lovers please ask for spices on the side as the food is not spicy at all

I went here for a birthday dinner and it was a great pick! It was a little fancier than I anticipated, but I think that made it nice. I recommend making a reservation or at least getting on the waitlist since there is a bit of a wait. There are clean bathrooms, and the ambiance is really nice. The bar area is huge and well decorated, but we sat at the booth section. i really enjoyed the service, our waiters were efficient and fun. They really made sure to keep things going. The food also came out super duper fast! We got the shan noodles, which they mixed up for us table side. I did also like their sparkling water. I would come here again for another special day, but I might also try their other sister locations.

Burma Love in the Mission District is the perfect sister spot to the longtime neighborhood favorite, Burma Superstar. It carries the same magic — those bold, comforting Burmese flavors — but in a fresh, modern setting. We ordered the eggplant and daikon, fried rice, and mango chicken, and every dish was bursting with flavor and perfectly balanced. You can taste the care in the spices and textures — nothing feels heavy, just deeply satisfying. The drinks were also a highlight — strong, tasty, and thoughtfully mixed. The space itself has a moody, intimate vibe with dim lighting and warm tones that make it feel both stylish and inviting. Whether you’re a longtime fan of Burma Superstar or new to Burmese cuisine, Burma Love is absolutely worth the visit. 🌶️🍚🍸

Did a walk in for dinner with a group of 4 and the wait was about 15 minutes or so, we grabbed a drink at the bar as we waited for our table. The host Daniella was so great with helping us out and helping us with a subtle surprise for the birthday boy in the group. Food was delicious. I would recommend the garlic noodles and the shaan noodles with your protein of choice. And the paratha was delicious chewy and fluffy dipped in the vegetarian curry wow. Ambiance was dark and cozy. Would definitely be back, Cheers!

A novel and interesting spot, beautifully decorated and nestled in the mission district of SF. Would highly recommend the tea leaf salad, unlike anything you've ever had before, unless you've dined on the mountains of Asia. The wok tossed dishes were flavorful but less impressive. Get the salad, add entrees to round out the meal. Well worth the visit.

Honestly the food was alright. Tea leaf salad was good but def needed like some salt lol. Also tried the tofu beans dish thing which just tasted like veggies in a lot of soy sauce. was not a fan of the food. Service was good and liked the ambiance.

Coffee shop
The Mill is a charming coffee shop and bakery located in the vibrant NoPa neighborhood of San Francisco. Founded by Jeremy Tooker of Four Barrel Coffee and Josey Baker of Josey Baker Bread, this cozy spot offers a simple yet delightful menu featuring their signature whole-grain sourdough toast topped with various delectable options like smashed avocado, cinnamon and sugar, or ricotta with seasonal housemade jam.
10/10. Absolutely unbearable spot for brunch or bread. One of my friends in DC told me that I *had* to try The Mill when I moved to SF — she would always come here every time she visited and take a few loaves of sourdough back to DC with her — and I can absolutely see why. The bread is absurdly tasty, with a great sourdough flavor blended with the heartiness of whichever whole grain they used in your bread of choice. Their toasts are a great way to sample the bread before committing to a whole loaf, and all of the toppings are outstanding. My favorites are their hummus toast and egg in a hole, both of which feature a super thick slice of their amazing bread, toasted to perfection and layered with tons of flavor. The egg in a hole comes with a perfectly poached egg with a gorgeous runny yolk, as well as a generous slathering of herb butter. The herbs really enhance the flavor of the bread, and I love the added richness from the egg. The hummus and tomato toast is just as delicious; the hummus gives the toast a lovely richness and creaminess, and the heirloom tomatoes add a fresh, sweet, and acidic bite. It’s topped with a bit of olive oil and sea salt, which further enhance all the flavors. Their toasts are undeniably expensive at $12-$20 each, but they are so very worth it. If you’re not in a bread mood, they also have a ton of delicious pastries! I’ve only tried my classic chocolate croissant — which was wonderfully buttery, flakey, and chocolatey — but they have many other options, ranging from the classics to some more unique selections. For coffee, they’re partnered with (or maybe a sister company of?) Four Barrel Coffee Roasters, so you can order their beautifully roasted beans here too. The espresso is wonderful on its own — I love their americanos — or in latte form. It can get extremely crowded here, especially on the weekends, so I’d either try to get here quite early or be prepared for a decently long wait, both to order and to find a spot to sit. There’s a good amount of seating, including the usual small tables and chairs, a giant communal table with over ten seats, and a long bench with little arm rests / tables along the back wall. Even so, they are rightfully extremely popular, so you might still need to take your toast / pastries / coffee to an outdoor table or a nearby park.

I can’t speak on the bread but I have only heard marvelous things about it. It smelled incredible. I already had a big lunch, so my stomach couldn’t fit any more solids. I got a coffee and enjoyed the ambiance. Light filled space with the perfect amount of background noise to focus. The smells are free, and that was truly the best part. Nicely curated bakery and cafe that I would totally sit and write or draw in if I lived nearby.

I always love getting breakfast at the mill! The egg in a hole is my favorite followed closely by the avocado toast. The coffee is superb. My only notes are that this is a real work from home hot spot and all the tables are always filled with computers so that can be a bit of a buzz kill if your looking for a breakfast date. The outside parklet is nice but be sure to check for your food often.

Stopped by The Mill and everything was a hit. The cortado was perfect — smooth, balanced, and just the right size. Food-wise: • The Egg in the Hole was the standout — that garlic butter on the country bread is next-level. • The smoked trout toast came in a close second, fresh and flavorful. • The hummus + cauliflower toast was good, just not as memorable as the others. Wrapped it all up with a slice of the persimmon cinnamon pistachio crumble cake, which was absolutely outstanding — warm, spiced, and perfectly textured. Great vibe, friendly staff, and beautifully executed menu. Will definitely be back.

The Mill is a sweet very bright cafe with a welcoming vibe. Prices are definitely in the higher range (espresso $5 and cappuccino $6,50) I’ve decided to get an iced Americano with a salted chocolate pastry for my picnic because tables were occupied. Next time I’ll come in the afternoon when it’s not as busy.
Richard W — Google review
Good flaky pastries (some better than others), but the prices are beyond exaggerated. $17 for a slice of bread with very little on it is insane, especially for a trout toast that ended up being too salty. Ham and cheese croissant was flaky but lacking in filling, toma and squash bureka was also low on filling but very tasty, coffee chocolate crinkle cookie was good but way too expensive for one tiny cookie, and the babka was ok. Love that the place has outdoor seating which makes it dog friendly, but seating is limited, and the wait is very long. IMO - not worth it.
May H — Google review
Fun vibes for work or catching up with plenty of seating. No outlets or WiFi though. Good sized drink selection. Had an americano which was a good temperature and smelled great. Espresso may have been slightly over extracted due to the mildly acidic aftertaste. Would love to come back and try some of the bread!
Emma — Google review
Went on a Monday around 10 am and the place was already packed. Ordered an almond butter toast and a latte and the total turned out to be $18…not rly worth it in my opinion. Bread was good but some parts of it was hard to cut so I struggled a bit, and the latté was just average. It’s a cute place to catch up with someone but it’s also hard to get seating since everyone seems to have their laptop and working.

Greek restaurant
Souvla, a popular spot in San Francisco's Hayes Valley since 2014, offers a menu of roasted meat sandwiches and salads. The restaurant's name comes from the Greek word for rotisserie spit, and it specializes in roasting pork, chicken, and lamb to create flavorful pita wraps drizzled with Greek yogurt. In addition to its signature sandwiches, Souvla also serves fresh salads and traditional sides like Greek fries with lemon and mizithra cheese.
Love this restaurant! Very gluten-free friendly. Tasty delicious and filling! Absolutely love the simplicity of the menu and the Greek yogurt for dessert. Food comes out very quickly.

Phenomenal food if you are looking for a healthy and hearty meal. The gyros are delicious and very filling ($17 before tip). If you like savory desserts, definitely try the Greek olive oil and flaky salt frozen yogurt. Very friendly service as well and I’d visit more if I lived around the area.

Mister Jiu's is a high-end Chinese restaurant with a California twist, situated in a beautifully restored historic venue. The menu features family-style dining, perfect for groups, and an elegant bar serving an array of enticing cocktails. Chef Brandon Jew's Cantonese cuisine is infused with occasional Sichuan specialties and locally sourced seasonal produce. Dishes include organic smoked tofu with cherry tomatoes and fried rice with summer squash and Petrale sole.
No exaggeration… best Peking Duck I’ve had in my life. We had the 6 course dinner that was a surprise with every dish. Innovative, complex and a delight to the senses. Not a mystery why they have earned a Michelin star. Service was impeccable and served with passion for the food. ALDA was incredible ! She was knowledgeable, worldly and her love for this establishment and its products showed through. We had to ask Ethan to come to the table so we could express our gratitude. Fantastic food, hospitality and artistry.

Last minute splurge, we booked the only appt, last one of the night. But luckily they notified us that an earlier spot opened up. The food took on an interesting take on Hong Kong cuisine. Our favorites were the choeng fun (with clam!), silken tofu (lots of tofu and made in-house tofu), and the chrysanthemum milk tea (lactose intolerant friendly).

Cool restaurant to visit while in Chinatown. We reserved 2-3 weeks in advance but saw some walk-ins later. You have to pay like $60 per person to confirm reservation if you go for the online option. We visited on a Friday night. We arrived 20 minutes early and told to wait in the bar area, which was another concept located in the second floor, very cool vibe and we had drinks: Limit of Heat and Summer Solstice. Both were excellent! We went down at the time of the reservation and still the table wasnt ready! Had to wait 15-20 minutes for the table, which for a Michelin star place is not the best. Despite that they gave us a nice table overlooking to the street which compensates the wait in a way. We had the summer banquet menu. Overall excellent food. We tried: Yusheng (Halibut), Eggplant, Cheong fun (Sea urchin), and Fried Rice as first and second courses. Everything was super great, favorite the Halibut and Sea Urchin. Then we had the Peking Duck, crispy, with a pluot sauce which was super good. The only thing we weren’t expecting were the portion sizes, everything was so big, after the first courses we were almost full. For desert we had Apricot Kernel Jello and Nian Gao. The latter was our favorite, very fresh, balanced. Definitely visit if looking for a deluxe experience in Chinatown.

Really disappointing experience at what’s supposed to be the only primarily Chinese Michelin-starred restaurant in the USA. Before we even got there, I called seven times and sent two emails trying to reschedule our reservation — crickets. No response, no callback, nothing. When we showed up, they didn’t even acknowledge that we’d been trying to reach them. I’ll give them credit for the ambience being pretty nice, and the portion sizes were actually bigger than I expected. But I couldn’t help noticing we were one of the very few (if not only) Chinese diners there, which felt a bit odd. The service was all over the place. Our waiter rarely checked in to see how things were, would rush over to clear plates while we were still eating, but then vanished whenever we actually needed something. We tried flagging them down multiple times just to order a drink. And here’s the kicker — they made it sound like an extra dessert was “on the house” for a birthday, then it showed up on the bill. The food was hit or miss. The snack course (shrimp chips, mala peanut, carrots with tofu sauce) was honestly amazing — creative use of traditional Chinese ingredients done right (8/10). The dessert trio with chrysanthemum ice milk, apricot kernel jello, and nian gao was also fantastic, just the right level of sweetness (9/10). The Peking duck was solid and tender, though nothing crazy (7/10). But then… the sea urchin dish was just meh and felt half-baked (4/10). The 36-month jinhua ham was straight up bad — tasted like frozen deli meat with random peach slices that made zero sense (1/10). And somehow they managed to over-salt basic fried rice?? (2.5/10). For a Michelin-starred restaurant — especially one representing Chinese cuisine at this level in the US — this was really disappointing. The lack of communication, spotty service, and inconsistent food quality just didn’t match the hype. A few dishes were great, but that’s not enough to make up for everything else.

The tea smoked duck is a stand out. Once you order, it takes an hour. They use Liberty Duck. Mister Jius perfected the method by making the exterior crispy and the inside still medium rare and moist. We ordered the daikon cake with olive tapenade which was so unique. I don't usually like olive but the olives on top of the daikon cake elevated the taste. Their chow fun with charsiu came out piping hot, the way it should be. I feel like they made the noodle from scratch too. Good amount of soy sauce and flavor. Can never go wrong with milk bread and homemade soft honey butter. Prices are a little higher than other Chinese restaurants but this is quality. Must try
Ms. L — Google review
We got a reservation through email with their host at 8pm. We showed up and were greeted by the hostess who said there was no reservation in their system. After we showed proof, she found the email and said she'd see what she could do. We walked around Chinatown for 30 minutes waiting for a text, now 30 minutes after our scheduled reservation. We went back to check in. She offered to seat us on the bar and begrudgingly offered to pay for our first round of drinks (making it seem like this was some grand gesture), we politely said we'd wait for a table. She said she might be able to seat us before 9, when they do their last seating and we agreed. At 9 sharp, an hour after our reservation, we were seated. The sommelier came over and put down three wine glasses down, we told her we wouldn't be drinking wine, but she told us it was a "gift," but didn't specify wether or not it was just a gift for the sake of being kind or a gift for us being seated an hour late. She uncorks the bottle and pours three comically small glasses for us (pictured below), but we assumed it was just to make sure we had enough to all have two glasses. She then puts the cork back in the bottle and took it back into the kitchen never to be seen again. The waitress then comes to let us know that they were out of the dish they are most known for, and the reason we came in the first place, the roast duck. Not only were we disappointed, but we were also keenly aware that we had to wait an hour after we were supposed to eat and can only imagine that it would have been available if we were seated at the appropriate time. We ordered the fried rice, green beans, wonton soup, chow fun, rolls, and the silken tofu. The rolls came out first along with the shrimp chips with smoked salmon dip. We didn't order that, but assumed it was a gift to make up for the mix up. It wasn't, but we'll get back to that. Both dishes were excellent and definitely the highlight of a night full of low lights. Next came the wonton "soup." I put quotations around soup because it was three dumplings on a plate with about an inch of broth that was room temperature (plate shown below). we were given traditional single serving soup bowls to pour the "soup" in, and the broth might have come an inch above the bottom of the bowls they brought. It was so late in the night, we didn't send it back, but it was the most average and unsatisfying "soup" I remember eating in some time. The pacing of this meal was also extremely odd. We got two dishes at a time, but there was no real rhyme or reason why things came out. The last thing to arrive was the chow fun with shaved horseradish over top, which had such an off-putting odor and we barely touched, because it was just not very good at all. We realized we never got our tofu, but since we were full, I told the waitress we didn’t need it and just wanted to be sure it wasn’t on the bill. We also mentioned we hadn’t ordered the shrimp chips. She checked and said they’d been brought to the wrong table—so not a gift. She was lovely, and it was an honest mistake, just one more in this comedy of errors. An aside, I witnessed one of the most awkward scenes I've ever seen in my life. The table next to us was celebrating a birthday and our server and the GM (I believe, he was kind of just walking around all night looking at all the tables and bringing out food some of the time) dropped off dessert with a candle. They started singing Happy Birthday and IN THE MIDDLE OF THE SONG HE LEAVES THE WAITRESS BY HERSELF TO SING TO A 6 TOP COMPLETELY BY HERSELF. The table wasn't singing either, so it was just her serenading by her lonesome. The bill came and it was correctly not including the shrimp chips we didn't order or the tofu, but not a single comped item for our trouble or an apology. The level of mediocrity we experienced in every aspect was shocking from a Michelin starred restaurant. Cold food, inappropriate serving receptacles, and a clown show at the front of house. Complacency is rich within the walls of Mister Jiu and we will not be back.
Angelo L — Google review
Great place, great atmosphere, service, drinks, expansive and expensive wine list. Essentially a price fix menu, choice of two 1st courses, then a well prepared Peking duck. Went with one other couple. One drink each. A bottle of wine, $140, about mid price on the list. An order of fried rice with the dinner. Ended up, at almost $500 per couple.

When exploring the vibrant streets of Little Saigon, a visit to Saigon Sandwich is an absolute must for any food lover. This charming little deli in the Tenderloin has become famous for its incredibly affordable banh mi sandwiches, which are a delightful fusion of flavors and textures. For just $3.
This sandwich place is very unassuming but it is definitely one of the most worthwhile sandwiches that I’ve eaten. It is very cheap at $7 but the taste was exquisite. The pate made everything taste better. It does not feel dry at all unlike the Bahn Mi’s that I’ve had before. Btw, I bought the Pork Belly Pate combo and it was the rightest decision that I’ve made in my life. Also the shop is in the hood but that made the experience more real and authentic. I love this sandwich.

Not only was my meatball pork sandwich delicious but the lady preparing the sandwich was lightning fast! I swear by the time I received my change the sandwich was done! The sandwich had a nice balance of crunch, sweetness and flavor of the pork. From the reviews I’ve seen I can’t wait to try the combination. The only cons are that it’s cash only and I couldn’t dine inside because the TL’s is not an ideal area to be eating outside if you know what I mean.

Great value for money banh mi. You won’t find anything cheaper and the portions are huge. One more then enough for a person don’t be greedy we were. A little bit toooo generous with the pate

Lived in Vietnam for years. Been visiting San Francisco for a long time. First time here, first time walking through the heart of Tenderloin. You will have to weigh the "risk vs reward" of a very popular banh mi with great service and low prices versus, well, the literal shiyatshow of getting to Saigon Sandwich. As far as quality, I think there's some hyperbole and social media hype driving up how "great" the food is. The sandwich is not amazing, I'd describe it as "really good with a great price.” The bread was not fresh (and I was the first customer at 7am), almost stale, but not quite. Compared to 99% of sandwiches in tourist traps or cities without an Asian community, it is indeed AMAZING! You get a lot of heft/size, but it's nothing like some of the sandwiches in Westminster, CA, or in Vietnam. But why should Saigon Sandwich change?? They obviously sell a ton and the prices will keep them in business until they decide to close shop.

Saigon Sandwich is a total classic stop for bánh mì in San Francisco — cheap, fast, and delicious. It’s no-frills, cash-only, and mainly for takeout, but that’s part of the charm. The bread is crispy, the fillings are flavorful, and the quick service makes it an unbeatable spot for a satisfying meal.

One of my most favorite places to get bánh mì! I also love their banana pudding. I always get the special kind bánh mì or the grilled pork etc. Price: top notch Portion: top notch Vietnamese people: top notch, they are my "hood", hahah. I love them. They are no frills. The only thing that's not super top notch is that they only take cash, so be aware of that.

I had the pleasure of dining here with my family for my birthday dinner. We all shared the dishes that we ordered, and everything was absolutely delicious. No complaints from anyone. Each of the dishes were very tasty and had a beautiful presentation. The Moussaka was the number one favorite for all of us. A truly perfect dish. The dessert was a newer dessert that they recently added to their menu, and it was absolutely delightful. In addition to the phenomenal food, I really appreciated the great service and cleanliness of the restaurant. I definitely recommend this place for some stellar, high quality Turkish food.

Absolutely loved our dinner at Kitchen Istanbul SF! Every dish was beautifully presented and packed with incredible flavor. We started with the Levrek Marin and sautéed shrimp, both fresh and perfectly seasoned. The eggplant shakshuka was rich and comforting, and the Adana kebab had just the right amount of spice and smokiness. The service was warm, attentive, and made the whole evening feel extra special. To top it all off, we had the homemade profiterole — and wow, it was the perfect sweet ending. Delicious food, amazing presentation, and top-notch hospitality. Can’t wait to come back!

Follow me on Instagram for more reviews! @hopeless_ramen_tic 📍 Kitchen Istanbul - San Francisco, CA ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Food: **Hummus** - Just okay, I’ve had better versions elsewhere. - Wouldn’t order this again. **Muhammara** - First time trying this and it was a hit! - Absolutely addictive; we didn’t leave a single bite. **Haydari** - Average, nothing special. - It’s pretty much Greek yogurt with a hint of dill. **Moussaka** - It was alright but lacked the wow factor. - Could have been more flavorful, especially for the price. **Adana Kebabs** - The highlight of our meal! - Perfectly seasoned meat paired wonderfully with fresh onions. **Knafeh** - Crispy and nutty! - Delicious but I’ve had better in Philly. I dined here with my boyfriend and a friend. The meal was a mixed bag—some dishes were delicious while others fell flat. The pricing was steep; the least expensive wine was $21 per glass! We ordered three dips for three people and received only four small pitas, with an extra charge of $4 for four more, which seemed excessive. This experience, especially the issue with the pita, was disappointing and makes me hesitant to return. Date Visited: 8/3/2024

We ran a little late and were luckily able to adjust our reservation by 15 min - just in time. Shortly after we sat down the entire restaurant filled up 😅. We were sat quickly and received excellent service. Our waiter had great recommendations and every dish was a hit after hit. What did we order / what should you order? (1) Muhammara roasted red pepper, walnuts, pomegranate molasses - this is a must have (2) Pistachio Salad farm greens, Valencia orange, fennel, candied pistachio - delicious (3) Adana lamb and beef blend, Fresno chile, homemade lavash, traditional accompaniments - so good, order 2 (4) Aegean Branzino preserved Meyer lemon, börülce piyaz, salsa verde, fresh herb salad - skippable. we weren't a fan of the cold beans and beats but the branzino was delicious Would I go again? Absolutely

"The Bird" is a popular counter-serve eatery located in two bustling areas of San Francisco. It's renowned for its delectable fried chicken sandwiches, wings, and salads, all served with a variety of sauces and fritters. The menu also features the "Naked Bird," which offers the option to enjoy the flavorful chicken without the bun, accompanied by handmade apple slaw. The restaurant takes pride in using free-range chicken and freshly baked buns from local bakeries.
What. A. Fried. Chicken. Sandwich!!! Easily one of the best fried chicken sandwiches in the Bay and I was more than impressed when I stumbled upon this small but mighty establishment. Blink and you miss it and you definitely don’t want to miss it! The spicy fried chicken sandwich is off the charts delicious!! Crispy and juicy large portion of chicken topped with apple slaw (don’t shy away from it, sounds different because it is but it sets the sandwich apart and off!!) I savored every bite and was sad when I finished it! Only thing I would add to it is to make it a little spicier but even then, ridiculous good!! Highly recommend this spot if you’re craving a good chicken sandwich!!

Solid place for a bite for about $15 total with chicken sando and tots. Order at Kiosk, very modern energy. The Nashville Hot Chicken sandwich itself is good, not great. Good Flavour, the size and quality of chicken itself could be better. For the $10.50 price tag, super solid. Will be back, if in the area

ordered the fried chicken sandwich, all the fixings and spicy. it was delicious and one of the best fried chicken spots in SF. chicken was juicy and filling, the coleslaw and pickles were an excellent and fresh complement with a toasted sandwich bun to boot. would recommend for anyone to swing by and try out. the sandwich was so appetizing i couldn't get a good photo before devouring. the staff was excellent and one gentleman even recommended something from earlier in the day they still had (the apple fritters)! so stop by early if youre lucky enough to try those as well, they're delicious too!

Visited The Bird while in SFO based on the great reviews, and it didn’t disappoint. The place is small and a bit tight on seating, but the food makes up for it. The Naked Bird is a must-try—unique flavor and good portions for the price compared to nearby spots. Definitely worth a stop if you’re in downtown

Best chicken sandwich’s in SF. Chicken was juicy snd crispy, coleslaw was not too creamy, just the right amount of crunch and acidity. If you’re looking for Dave’s Hot Chicken in the city, come here you won’t be disappointed. Donuts were solid but go for the chicken sandwich

I don't go into this part of town much for obvious reasons but when I do always stop at The Bird for some of their world famous fried chicken! It was Hacksaw Jack the ex triangle player for the San Francisco Symphony that prompted my visit to Montgomery Street, it seems he's getting booted from his office space to make room for a new In-N-Out that'll be opening in March! Well...I helped him move his equipment, and then we went to The Bird and had an Amazing meal. 5 stars ☆☆☆☆☆
American A — Google review
I was not impressed with the food here, I was expecting better based on the reviews. The chicken for the sandwich had too many tendons in it, made it hard to bite through, and was absolutely buried in a pile of mayo making the breading very soggy. The curly fries are very similar to your average frozen brand or chain fast food place curly fries.

The restaurant serves strictly traditional Mexican shared plates with a playful dedication to authenticity evident in its menu stacked with simple, cohesive dishes. Diners recommend trying the fish, pork, and beef tacos as well as the churros for dessert.
If you’re looking for a vibrant and authentic taco spot in San Francisco, Uno Dos Tacos is the place to go! From the moment you approach the warm and inviting wooden exterior with its bold signage, you know you’re in for a treat. The atmosphere inside is a perfect blend of casual and modern, with plenty of personality. I loved the bright and cheerful touches, like the tiled walls announcing, “Fresh Tortillas Hechas a Mano.” It’s clear they take pride in their handmade tortillas, and it shows in the quality of their food. The menu offers a fantastic variety of options, from classic tacos to hearty burrito plates, catering to meat lovers and vegetarians alike. The setup is convenient, with easy-to-use ordering kiosks ensuring a smooth experience. What really sets Uno Dos Tacos apart is the tequila bar! It’s beautifully designed and stocked with an impressive selection of tequila and other spirits, making it a great spot to unwind with friends over a margarita or two. The cozy decor and holiday-themed accents add an extra layer of charm to the space. Lastly, the service was friendly and efficient. One of my favorite Mexican spots in SF! Got the chips and guacamole, and they were so fresh and delicious! The onion and tomatoes added such flavor and the chips weren’t too salty. Also got the tinga chicken tacos which were topped with grilled onions and cilantro. The verde salsa and onions were the perfect combination on the chicken and I wanted to order more! The music was amazing and the outdoor seating was a vibe as well! Highly recommend for a quick lunch or dinner if you’re in the city!

What an awesome spot! It is easy to locate with so much seating available. My to go food lasted all day and the food that I ate while I was there was incredible! Not to mention how delicious the margaritas were!!!

If I would live in San Francisco, I would come here at least ones a week. We got the street tacos and 4 tacos plus guacamole and spend around 45$ including tip. Totally worth the price. My favorite was the street tacos. So authentic and delicious 🤤 🤩 Definitely a must visit.

4.5/5 Overall. My wife and I went here on a Thursday night to grab some cheapish food with drinks and am I glad that we did. This was our first time and we started off with their margaritas, which were amazing. We also ended up getting their mojitos which were definitely 10/10. For dinner: We ordered one of each of their tacos, the carnitas burrito, and rice and beans. Everything was so delicious that we definitely plan on coming back again. My favorite was the fish and carnitas taco, I was definitely surprised and impressed by their fish taco. My wife loved their carnitas. They give you the salsa bottle and I LOVE THAT so you can use as much as you want. The atmosphere was also wonderful. However it can be hard to get a table inside. Maybe go on a warm day and enjoy eating outside. Overall, I’d give it a 9.5/10. Definitely worth the visit, especially considering the prices and what they deliver. Happy Eating!

I first tried this place in 2024 for my birthday and I was SHOCKED how amazing the quesadillas are. I come from a place where Hispanic food is unbeatable. I have not had any Hispanic food where I can say ITS REALLY good out here. But this place sure did. I came a second time for my birthday this year (2025) and I'm hoping to keep that tradition going every time I visit the city for my birthday

Fantastic service and great tasting carnitas tacos. The salsa they provide for the tacos is spot on with a nice amount of heat. Try out the churros if you're craving something sweet after.

Andytown Coffee Roasters is a modern coffee shop and cafe with an Irish influence, located in the Outer Sunset neighborhood of San Francisco. Despite its remote location, it's worth the journey for its cozy atmosphere and delicious offerings. The menu features espresso drinks, pastries, and soups with an Ocean theme. All the coffee is roasted in-house, and they also bake their own pastries.
Every time I’m in San Francisco, I make a point to stop by this coffee shop. It’s always busy with locals, which makes it feel extra special. The coffee is amazing, and the best part? All the neighborhood dogs that show up!🐶💕

It’s small coffee shop, service was ok, cappuccino was decent. The cheese sandwich was tasty I tried it with “mix of greens” but it was just a little bit of spinach. The lemon poppy bread needed more flavor and was too dry.

This coffee shop is very popular! It smells delicious in there. They make an amazing breakfast sandwich , and they also have a meatless sandwich called a Toastie. They just have waiting benches inside, no tables. There's plenty of outdoor seating. On cold days, make sure you dress warm because they leave the doors open. So, while you're in a long line waiting, you are freezing!

Cute cafe on the corner of a quiet neighborhood. They have a few specialty drinks and people like to add whipped crème on top of their drink. Delicious

Tried their matcha latte with a good friend of mine. We both LOOOVE matcha and so she shared this spot with me on a walk with our dogs. We both had the same opinion on it, we felt the matcha is not very strong. It almost tastes like we were just drinking milk with a hint of matcha. I asked for no sweetness in mine which I thought was just fine. I wonder if the matcha level can be adjusted 🤔

Still one of the best coffee spots in the world The only thing is they nixed indoor table seating and customer WiFi. There are other ways to ward off campers Expansion is nice and they have 5 park let spaces that weren’t there a few years ago Getting a Snowyplover and walking to the beach is still one of the best things you can do with a morning in SF

Our group ordered a Vegan Cappuccino, Matcha Latte, Double Shot Espresso, and Con Panna. Noteworthy detail, all the drinks tasted good, but they were lukewarm and coffees (Cappuccino atleast) are (is) meant to be served piping hot, and these missed the mark.

Middle Eastern restaurant
Beit Rima is a cozy restaurant located in the Castro, offering a variety of traditional Arabic dishes and beverages. The establishment, named after the chef's Jordanian mother, serves as a heartfelt tribute to the food he grew up with. With a focus on authentic Palestinian and Jordanian cuisine, Beit Rima presents an ambitious menu featuring mezze spreads like baba ganoush and fava bean ful, as well as kebabs and lamb shank.
It felt like I was eating at a family’s house. All the workers seem very close and tight, and a lot of the customers were talking with the workers like they all knew each other. Beit Rima felt like a small community. It felt really authentic. The hospitality was also great. The servers were caring and welcoming. They offered us free pita bread which was very kind. 10 out of 5 stars for service. The staff is incredible. The portions are big here, so I would recommend sharing dishes with your group. The humus is massive that you will have to ask for a lot of pita bread to finish it all. The shakshuka was great. It was piping hot and fresh so that’s all you can ask for. My favorite dish was the beef kabob plate. The beef was marinated very well and I wish I could’ve just had that all to myself. I recommend this dish overall. It gets crowded here, and you may have to sit at the bar. But sitting there is worth it because you can see the chefs do their thing and you get a quicker seat at one of the best restaurants in the area.

One thing about me is I’m always down for a platter. Loved the variety in the mezze sampler. Pay for the extra baked bread it’s soooo good. Fragrant and tender chicken, incredible rice. Fantastic halloumi, swam in this citrusy herby sauce. Potatoes were sooo crazy, teleferic patatas bravas but spicy and crispier. Dare I say better. Main qualm was the branzino… my favorite type of fish yet they messed it up 😢 very dry We were a party of 9 on Friday at 6pm and the staff were very accommodating, laboriously moving around tables. Very loud inside and nicely chaotic. Thank you for such a great dining experience!

Honestly one of my new favorite restaurants in San Francisco. Imagine a warm day in the Bay. Sunny, yet cool. Sipping on a tangy lemonade while the appetizers and food roll in the company of others. The food was amazing good. From the baked olives, lebneh, beef kabob and chicken. Amazing flavors and actually delicious. I can't wait to go back.

Second time I have dinner here and have to leave a review. Everything we ordered was so delicious and I don’t feel heavy after. Food is cooked clean, not greasy and lots of flavor. Will be picking up dinner here more regularly. Highly recommend.
Karinna S — Google review
The food here is great! The chicken shish tawook plate is so good. Generally tender and the yogurt marinade. The fattoush was amazing with the charred dates. It was very filling and delicious. The inside decor is nice but it feels like a pickup spot now rather than a decent sit-down. I sat outside which was nice but the service was very slow. I never once got a refill on water in the hour I stayed. The waiter was frantically running around taking orders and not able to keep the same level of service to each client... Overall I'd visit again but wish their bare minimum service was better.
Jimmy S — Google review
Went as a group of three and shared a mezze sampler and the musakhan. The chicken was super tender and delicious but could have had a little more kick in spice and flavoring in my opinion. Sampler was amazing, would order again. Definitely a place to come to share a bunch of things not for solo dining!

I don't go out for Middle Eastern food very often, but recently I've been trying out more spots with friends and coworkers, and Beit Rima is right up there. They have a few locations in the city - for this visit we went to one on Church one since it's easy to get to by public transit. The space is cozy and popular, and it can get pretty loud when it's full (there was a waitlist and line out the door at some point while we were there). We had a two-top, but I appreciated that they also have long communal tables too. You're seated and given menus first, but you order at the counter, and food comes out pretty fast. We shared the mezze sampler and we each ordered the beef kebob plate. It was more than enough food, with leftovers to take home. We didn't stay for dessert this time, but I'd be happy to return to try the muhalabia as well as more of their savoury dishes.

Dumpling Home is a vibrant and casual restaurant located in Hayes Valley, offering a variety of dumplings including fried, steamed, and boiled options, as well as noodles and small plates. Despite opening in 2020, it has quickly gained recognition and made it to the Michelin Bib Gourmand list in 2021.
Went on a thursday night. Expect a wait if you come after 6:30 pm, they don't seat you until you have the full party. That said, service was really quick once we sat down. We ordered the pork and beef pan-fried dumplings, pork xiao long bao, sauteed grean beans, cucumber, and the Zha Jiang noodles. Everything was really good. My favorite was the pan-fried dumplings, as I've never had that before. Just be careful as it does squirt everywhere if you bite into it. I liked the pork better than the beef dumpling. The cucumber was fresh, although I didn't really taste the garlic sauce. The xiao long bao was great, and the meat and sauce were very flavorful. Although personally, I thought they were on the bigger side. I prefer XLB that has an equal meat to pastry ratio. The green beans were perfectly crunchy. For 6 dishes, tea and 1 beer, we paid ~$120 including tips. This is a good portion for 3 people. Would definitely come back again.

Dumpling Home offers authentic and delicious Chinese food that truly impressed me. The soup dumplings were outstanding — they held all the flavorful broth without breaking, which is a challenge even for restaurants in China. The small bites were refreshing, tasty, and full of variety. Despite the lunch rush, the business ran smoothly with efficient service. Highly recommend!

I’ve been to almost every dumpling spot in SF (my wife’s a big fan 😂), so I’d say I’ve got a decent benchmark. This place is solid, definitely good, but not the best in the city. The standout for me was the spicy pork soup dumpling, full of flavor and perfectly done. The sesame boiled dumpling was also above average. But the spicy beef boiled dumpling didn’t quite hit the mark, bland and forgettable. Be ready for a wait, there’s usually a line and it can take 20–30 minutes to get seated. Overall, worth trying, but I wouldn’t call it a top dumpling destination.

The food was absolutely delicious and came out super fast. The staff were friendly and welcoming, which made the experience even better. The beer was really good too! It does get a little loud since the place stays busy, but that just shows how popular it is. You might not linger long, but every bite is worth it. I really enjoyed my visit!

The must try….is pan fried dumplings. The crust was quite unique. The other dishes are just as good but I feel you can get them at other restaurants. They are busy so plan accordingly. Enjoy!

This place was amazing! My daughter loves dumplings and bao but oddly enough i had never had them. This would be my first time trying! We ordered the pan fried juicy pork bao, pork and crab soup bao, fresh shrimp with shrimp paste noodles and the fresh cucumber with garlic sauce. The vibe of the place was all good and positive! It felt so laid back and welcoming. It was super clean and smelled amazing! There was a bit of a wait but that’s because it was packed and there was a long line of people ahead of us. It was good because they had plugs so after walking and riding scooters all day in the city we were able to charge our phones while there which is a major plus for us tourist! That pan fried juicy pork bao was popular as it was on every single table so we had to try it! The food came out reasonably quickly and our server and the staff were super nice and friendly. I had seen videos of this spot on tiktok raving about how great this place was…And it did not disappoint!!! THE FOOD WAS DELICIOUS! All of it! There was nothing i would really change. The soup bao was my absolute favorite while my daughters enjoyed the ever so popular juicy pan fried bao. Those cucumbers were divine. Honestly i could eat those all day long. My daughter describes this as the best she’s ever had. Highly recommend! Absolutely enjoyed the food and service here. No concerns. Plus i got to try a new food that i absolutely ended up loving. When I came back to Houston, the first thing i did was find a noodle and dumpling spot. Theirs was ok but after having this place i may not find another spot this good!

This and daeho are top 2 restaurants in SF. Dumplings and baos are already one of the best foods in the world and somehow Dumpling Home has further elevated them. Almost as good as my mom's dumplings real talk. Some have told me that Dumpling Story however is even more powerful, so I will be back to try that at my earliest covenience

Dumplings are such a treat for me, but I rarely get them because my wife isn't a huge fan. So, when my son and I caught a show at Davies Symphony Hall, we walked a couple blocks to try Dumpling Home. Wow! They were terrific!! The service was fast and friendly, the price was reasonable, the interior was clean and unpretentious, and the food was some of the best I've had in a decade. We ordered the hot and sour soup (delish!), the Numb & Spicy Pork Xiao Long Bao (the ABSOLUTE standout here!), the fried pork wontons (great!), the pork and vegetable pot stickers (solid), and the curry lamb dumplings (unique and savory!). In short, a terrific and wonderful experience. I see what all the fuss is about, and I can't wait to come back!

Boudin Bakery is a renowned California bakery and cafe chain that has been famous for its sourdough since 1849. The flagship location at Fisherman's Wharf in San Francisco offers a free museum upstairs, providing insight into the city's history and Boudin's origins. Visitors can observe bakers working in the kitchen while enjoying an early snack from their 6am opening time.
We had to try authentic sourdough bread in San Francisco! Boudin's does its baking on the premises, and it has fresh and delicious items.

I love this bakery and used to eat at Boudin bakery a lot. The clam chowder in a bread bowl I had delivered from here really hit the spot and I can see myself continuing to order lunch at this place and other Boudin bakery locations in this city. I highly recommend people eat here. The ambience of the place also looks amazing from pictures from this location I have seen. I give them 40 stars ⭐️

Visited this place, first time, was packed but only 30 minute wait. Sourdough bread basket and butter, soft and tender crust and butter enhanced the great taste! Ordered with fanily-stew entree so delicious and very tender meat but small portion, clam chowder bread bowl was good but not the best I've had still tasty ($17.95 a little expensive) fish and chips were okay loved the fish not too crunchy and not greasy fries were soft and chewy a texture I like Cole slaw was good cost was around $24) margarita pizza and pepperoni pizza for $13 and size was bigger than expected, thin chewy crust, great flavor!

Better than other places that serve clam chowder in a sourdough bowl. This bread was ultra fresh and the soup was a perfect consistency. Enjoyed the large Caesar salad as well. Thanks!!

This little Boudin location opens at 6am. Perfect for an early snack. I had their ham cheese croissant $4.25 and a cup of clam chowder $7. The croissant is not bad. They don't heat it up though; you know, to melt the cheese. The clam chowder came with a little piece of sourdough bread to dip into the soup. Quite frankly, the clam chowder at Safeway had more clams. I did enjoy this cup of chowder. There are much better clam chowder throughout the city. Boudin is good if you are in a hurry and don't want to sit down for some soup. Service is excellent (if you know about the one person in-store policy.)

Opens early, only to-go is available in this bakery. Clam chowder soup is thick and a bit on the salty side. But have it with their signature bread is nice.

Deli Board, located in SoMa, is a haven for sandwich enthusiasts. The owner, Adam Mesnick, hails from Cleveland and uses top-notch ingredients to create mouthwatering sandwiches. Customers can customize their own sandwiches with a variety of breads, meats, and extras or choose from the menu's signature creations like the Zeke or Leroy Brown. The spot also offers rotating specials for those who want to try something new.
Loved the pastrami in my 555 sandwich. The Stephanie (tuna bacon) was very flavorful and was a hit. The Armando (turkey bacon avocado) was not bad but not quite as flavorful as the others. The waffle fries are GREAT and perfect with the included mick sauce. Crispy with very creamy interior.

4.2/5 for the sandwich. Waited 40 mins in line to get my hands on one of these sandwiches. I got the 49er and it was good. The meat was good but the standout for me was the bread. Would come back again but kinda wish they were less expensive. Great restaurant atmosphere too
Eidmone T — Google review
If you’re looking for the best sandwich shop in San Francisco, you’re in the right place! From the flavor packed tender pastrami, to the thin crispy bread that perfectly complements every aspect of the sandwich, Deli Board has it all. You can’t go wrong with anything you order—although we ordered the 555, the Leroy Brown and some waffle fries—Believe me when I say that these may very well be the best sandwiches I’ve ever had (and that says a lot coming from my family of foodies!) The cashiers and servers were about as friendly as they come but be prepared for a well worth it wait! Deli Board also lacked any forms of indoor seating. The overall aesthetic, however, was quite cute! They had dried flower bouquets upon the ceiling and hand drawn pictures framed across the wall! Our overall experience at Deli Board was 1000% enjoyed. I insist that anyone visiting San Francisco MUST go to Deli Board. Taking an hour out of your vacation for these sandwiches is well worth it. Do a favor for your taste buds and go to Deli Board!
Becca K — Google review
I recently visited Daily Board with my dad, and our experience was a bit disappointing. Right from the start, the staff asked us to move away from a certain area in a rather impolite manner, even though others around us weren't asked to do the same. On top of that, the line was incredibly long, and the prices were outrageously high ($24 for a sandwich?). The sandwich itself was just average, with nothing special, just a basic combination of cold turkey and standard ingredients, some sauces on top and that's that. Overall, it didn't quite meet our expectations, especially compared to other sandwich places like Bite, or Saigon Sandwich for a super cheap and delicious banh mi. Wouldn't recommend this for anyone especially people who liked hyped places.
Tam N — Google review
Had to stop by to see what all the hype was about, and the food did not disappoint! Solid 8.9/10. Portions are generous as one order could easily satisfy two people with a normal appetite. We arrived around 11:30 and only waited about 20 minutes, which wasn’t bad at all. I tried the 49er and the Mick (their fancy take on a Big Mac); both were excellent. Bonus points for ample parking nearby!
DW K — Google review
The sandwiches at Deli Board are a must-try! Granted it’s only my first time and I ordered The Mick which is a roast beef sandwich and oh boy does it deliver! Might be a little pricey at $21 but all so worth it! I’d go back and try the pastrami sandwich on my next visit! 😋👌🏼 Side bar: this is only a to-go place.
Albert V — Google review
Large, messy but delicious sandwiches!!! What more could you want!?! You definitely can’t drive and eat one of these so don’t try it unless you want sauce all over you. It’s finger licking good!
Michael J — Google review
Okay, foodie fam, no exaggeration, this might be the BEST pastrami sandwich I’ve had anywhere — yes, even better than Katz’s in NYC (I said what I said 😤). Be prepared though: the line is no joke. On weekends, expect to wait around 40 minutes. There’s a limit of 6 sandwiches per person, so plan ahead if you’re coming with a group. My go-to is the 49ers, it’s ridiculously good. The flavors, the texture, everything just hits right. There’s barely any seating, so most people grab their food and find a bench or head to a nearby park. Totally worth the wait, just come hungry and maybe bring a friend to help pass the time in line.

Stopped by Blue Bottle in SF and had a cappuccino that really hit the spot. The espresso was smooth with a nice depth, and the milk was perfectly textured — creamy without being too heavy. The space itself has that clean, modern Blue Bottle vibe, great for a quick coffee break or to sit and recharge. It’s a busy spot during the workday rush, but the quality is consistent and worth it. A solid go-to if you’re in the Financial District and need a well-made cappuccino.

The stunning floor-to-ceiling windows flood the space with light and offer beautiful city views—making it an ideal spot to unwind, get creative, or dive into work. The vibe is effortlessly cool, the space spacious and thoughtfully laid out. Now, let’s talk taste—every sip of their matcha latte was heavenly, and the blueberry and lemon cakes? Pure delight! The coffee is smooth, bold, and truly addictive. Plus, the staff are warm, attentive, and make you feel right at home. Whether you’re popping in for a quick pick-me-up or planning to camp out for a few hours, this place hits every mark. Can’t wait to return!

A very nice cafe. The views out of the large windows are amazing. The tables are arranged in a very convenient fashion, with plenty of space between them even when fully occupied and all of them have good views out of the windows. The matcha latte was very good and the matcha lemon cake was quite good as well.

Quite terrible. Ridiculously overpriced, even by “stereotypical SF professional cafe” standards. Tea is ok flavor wise, but nothing better than what you can make at home with some slightly-better-than average tea bags, which for $7 it’s a complete scam. The ambience is completely mediocre and the service is bare-minimum. I don’t understand what the value proposition here is or who thinks this deserves anything more than the lowest review score. But worst of all is the fraudulent 4% charge they add in to your already overpriced order, which the reader must be reminded Should be Illegal!

Korean barbecue restaurant
SAN HO WON is an upscale Korean restaurant located in a minimalist, industrial-chic space in the Mission district. The restaurant offers a unique take on traditional Korean charcoal BBQ, with a focus on high-quality ingredients and refined techniques. In addition to the glistening, charred short ribs, SAN HO WON also features dishes like rotisserie chicken marinated in soy, sake, and garlic, crispy scallion pancakes, honey butter-topped grilled corn, and light and fluffy egg souffle.
one of my favourite meals in sf so far — we had the set menu for dinner and it was A LOt of food. every dish was incredibly well seasoned and fresh, favourites were definitely the jebi churi (beef neck fillet) and gamasot fried rice with naengi & clam doenjjang jigae. the banana soft serve with hazelnuts and nutella was a banger. service was great too! came out to be $350 or so after tax and tip, including a bottle of makgeolli.

We came in without a reservation on a Thursday night and had to wait 2 hours for a table for 2. My favorites were the steamed egg, green onion pancake, and beef neck. We tried the pork jowl and it was good but a bit fattier. I loved the mixture of veggies that came with the lettuce wraps too. The kimchi jjigae was really good too along with the scorched rice. Service was great and I liked the pace of each item coming out.
Abbie N — Google review
The food is incredible delicious, every dish is the meticulous craftsmanship of the restaurant, creating the finest Korea cuisine which combines both nutrition and flavor. The beef dumplings are juicy and crispy. Every BBQ dish is amazing and so delicious that you will want more, the accompanying vegetables are refreshing and sweet, the various sauces bring out more flavors. The rice cake tastes rich and chewy just like when we ate in childhood. The Bibimjang is so fresh and fragrant it reminds you of the ‘Hwanseban’ the same Michelin-starred dish from Netflix’s Bon Appetit.

San ho won is perfection. They took classic korean flavours, preserved them and celebrated them, then adorned them. Im obsessed with this restaurant I can't get into the details of everything because everything was perfect and it would take too long😂. Get a reservation. Thats it. Kalbi and rib cap are OUTSTANDING CUTS OF MEAT. I truly cant believe the way they balanced chewy and melty. The soybean stew with clams is so nostalgic and made to perfection. Soufflé egg is a must try at least once. Beef tartare was unlike any I've ever had before, the beef was plush almost airy, and fresh. The soft serve is the best soft serve I've ever had in my life both flavors are amazing but particularly loved the black sesame, the black sesame flavor is not overpowering and the huckleberry jam is balanced and interesting. Every flavor and sensation as well balanced and I love how the soft serve itself is almost icy, it is brilliantly refreshing after the flavor bombs of the night. Need to go back ASAP. EDIT: Went back 5 days later and got beef neck filet (my new favourite cut) and the western mushrooms (make sure u squeeze that lemon and drench the ssam in it after u make a wrap) Song yi jook is impeccable. Peak comfort food, do you think it's simple and with a higher price tag you may be apprehensive, but i truly think its worth it. Its some how wildly flavourful yet so comforting and light, i cant compare anything to it and i need it again so badly. My perfect order: Beef tartare Beef neck filet Kalbi Ssam Song yi jook Extra kimchi And the staff? I feel like im being welcomed home. They are the best, this is my safe space 😍😍😍🫰🫰🩵🩵 san how won is perfection

This was outstanding. Easily top 10 meals lifetime. Possibly best ever. Every dish was spectacular while building on and complimenting the previous dishes. I started with the YUJU highball cocktail which was refreshing and delicious. We had the house menu and chose the ribeye bulgogi and pork jowl jjigae and the beef tartar & Asian pear add-on. As I said, everything was amazing and it's really hard to pick any standout. But I will say the egg souffle was next level and that beef neck fillet was excellent. The service was impeccable but the place is approachable and not pretentious at all. If you are in San Francisco and want an incredible dining experience that includes actual great food, I cannot recommend this place enough.

My review is based on my visit about one year ago. I visited here with my parents visiting from Korea and we had course menu. Overall, the foods were good but it was a bit mixed. Grilled meats were exceptionally good although we were already quite full by then. But soups (both Kimchi soup and rice soup) felt quite off to us. They tasted like they were based off of a very different ingredient from how we typically cook, which was a big disappointment for us. But the staffs were really nice and their drinks were unique in a good way. Overall we enjoyed our meal.
Min C — Google review
The best Korean BBQ experience I ever had. Growing up, I’ve been to quite a lot of premium Korean beef (Hanwoo) BBQ restaurants in Seoul, but those meals were more about the beef itself than what comes before, after, or with it. Obviously, the sheer quality of the beef is better at those restaurants, but the overall experience was superior here. Sauces, banchan (especially kimchi), and small sides, all elevated by the kind of polish that only a veteran fine-dining chef like Corey Lee (Benu/French Laundry) could pull off. Reservation was notoriously difficult to get, but we were able to snag a seat at their low top counters. While it was facing towards the kitchen, their actual kitchen was further back, so we could only take a peak at the person cooking the meat on the lychee wood charcoal. Service was just okay overall, but the food was fantastic. A lot of first time visitors seemed to opt for their tasting menu, but we didn’t like the meat selections, so we did a la carte. We started off with some side dishes and their famous egg soufflé. Savory Egg Soufflé - In the context of Korean BBQ, egg soufflé doesn’t have a lot of meaning. It’s rather a gratis offering that serves as a protein filler in lieu of meat since the meat portions are typically small. Here, they took it up a notch and made it a dish on its own. The deep oceanic umami from the thick rock seaweed sauce almost resembled a savory bbq sauce, and the spicy anchovy broth added a subtle layer of spicy umami. Sanma Pajeon - Typically mountain yams are cut into thinner/finer pieces, but here, they cut it into huge chunks, almost like a slice of potato. Really satisfying bites. Kimchi – The variety alone was remarkable. Chef Lee’s recent collab with a major kimchi producer in Korea clearly paid off. Perfect fermentation, deeply homey. Spicy Beef Riblet Tteokbokki - Not sure why this was highly recommended. The riblets were super tender, but I didn’t find anything special with the rice cakes. My friend and I both thought they were a tad undercooked. As for the meats, we tried the Galbi, Jebi Churi, and the Beef Tongue. Honestly, not sure if cooking it over lychee wood charcoal made a noticeable difference, but the meat was impeccably cooked. Jebi Churi – Game-changer. In Seoul, I’d only had this cut thinly sliced. Here, it came thick with collagen intact. The texture was almost like filet mignon, but better, with those sticky, fatty bits. Galbi – Rich and deeply flavorful, but the sauces made it ten times better. Three different Korean sauces, each infused with Chinese or Mexican twists, kept it from being overwhelming.
Jea K — Google review
Very decent authentic Korean cuisine with fine barbecue already cooked for you. Super popular and we didn’t have a reservation so we went around 4:30 to be in line. Guess what two parties were already there. But the wait was worth it. Appetizer and side dishes were refreshing. Sauces were great with saam. Got the beef tongue and thick cut gulbi. So tender esp with the thickness.very well seasoned already but good to pair up with the veggies and sauce. Rice cakes are delicious. Glad we ordered the peach bingsu. It looked plain but all goodies were buried in the bottom. It had purée, pieces made from peach. I don’t think it’s fresh fruit pieces but very tasty.

The Pizza Shop, located on 24th street, is a vibrant and modern pizzeria that offers thin-crust pizzas by the slice or whole. Despite its contemporary coffee shop ambiance, the pizzeria has gained popularity for its flavorful sauce and high-quality cheese that perfectly complement the occasionally crackery but always tender and crisp crust. The unassuming nature of the place allows their delicious slices to speak for themselves.
Awesome pizza. Very light for pizza. Perfectly crispy, no flop. Tangy sauce. Nice owner/employees. Spacious environment with open windows and very clean. Clean bathroom too.

Nice pizza joint, with a pretty good atmosphere. I got a white spinach slice and the sauce is okay, but could use some more seasonings. The staff were friendly but casual, very welcoming. The gender neutral restroom is always a nice to have, and was very clean. Overall? I’ll be back whenever I’ve got some down time in the bay.

The Pizza Shop transports me back to being a kid in the 90s in Upstate NY. The Pizza by the Slice model is great for a variety of toppings. The delicious crispy crust with the right amount of stiffness to droop (fold it in half!), the perfect amount of cheese to sauce, the slight amount of grease on top... Drool. I'm so glad we found the Pizza Shop - it's a great little place with friendly staff.

The cheese pie is one of the best in San Francisco. Thin crust and crispy. New York style. But when I got other ingredients on the pie, there was not enough toppings. Way too skimpy on everything I ordered.

They say “Believe in pizza again”. Well, I restored my trust in pizza. I’m so glad I stopped by at this pizza spot. It was just by chance. As a person who loves nyc-style pizza, I savored every bite. We had pesto jalapeno, white spinach, and pepperoni mushroom. The dough was flat and crispy, not starchy. I could taste the freshness of tomatoes from the sauce. Pepperoni wasn’t overly salty and true to how it should taste like. Pesto jalapeno had a tasty kick which I loved so much. Every piece was purely pleasant. Can’t wait to throw a pizza party with friends with their whole pizzas.

I tried four different slices. Pretty good NY slices as far as crust/sauce/cheese, but across the board the toppings barely cut through. I ended having to put a bunch of chili flakes on to get any real flavor beyond the crust/cheese/sauce taste.

Stopped in at the Pizza Shop for a quick slice while on 24th street. Not sure if it was slow time but we ended up with a dry and stale slice that was very hard and crunchy. Perhaps next time I would order a whole pizza rather than a slice.

Bakery
Breadbelly is an airy cafe located on Clement Street, offering a fusion of Asian and Californian influences in its coffee, baked goods, and light bites. The bakery was initially a pop-up by chefs with experience from renowned spots like Atelier Crenn and Coi, drawing inspiration from their travels in Asia and their Chinese and Filipino-American heritage.
Nom nom nom, this is a must try if you're in the area. Everything was on point in regard to the flavor profile. The pastries and drinks were well prepared with the use of quality ingredients. Great customer service and the wait wasn't very long. Seating indoors is limited, because it is a small facility. They do offer additional seating outdoors, but on busy days you may be out of luck or have to wait. I will definitely be back. Breadbelly is a family favorite! 💜

We had lunch here on a week day. Definitely come before the lunch rush because parking is very limited. We ordered and took a seat outside they call your name for drinks and food separately to pick up. The outdoor patio is nice but can get very windy and cold. The food was tasty, but I'm not sure I would pay $18 for a breakfast sandwich. Other than taking your order and calling your name for pick up there was very little interaction with the staff.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE breadbelly. It’s has the BEST matcha lattes in the city in my opinion, even better than some of the matcha I had in Japan, which is A LOT. I have been trying to find a matcha that tops this place and very few places come close. I want to gatekeep this place so much and for as long as I can but it’s becoming increasingly popular these days. So expect long lines on weekends. I’m just sad I can’t go everyday because it’s so far out in Richmond. Yes the prices are pricey ($8+ for matcha) and yes they charge an employee mandate fee. But it’s worth it. I also love their Kaya toast and bun. Their rotating seasonal drinks are great too. 10/10

Very delicious blueberry tart! It has a great texture with the crunch of the croissant and the almonds in the crust. Loved the flavor, and would get again. My husband also enjoyed his plain croissant.

Absolute must visit. Kaya toast so unique and tasty. The Korean cornbread with egg was the same. The sandwiches looked soooooooooo good. Next time in town, I will be back.
Jonathan D — Google review
Small local cafe with interesting items. We tried the kaya toast, shrimpwich, and summer corn bun. I wanted to try everything bun and matcha drinks but they don't have those now. The kaya toast tastes good and smells nice but can be sweet if eating it all. Summer corn bun is their new item instead of former buns and is just okay. Shrimp sandwich is also fine (expected flavor) but pricey. For coffee, we tried Karl's cappuccino and 50/50. Karl's is London fog tea flavored and tastes interesting. 50/50 is black tea + decaf + condensed milk and on the sweet side. Limited indoor seating but more outside (just colder). Overall fun to try but not good enough to come again.

B. On the Go is a charming neighborhood eatery located in Pacific Heights, offering a delightful selection of sandwiches and pastries. As the sister cafe to B. Patisserie, it has garnered attention for its modern space and delectable offerings. The menu features an array of options, including the popular porchetta sandwich with a perfect balance of textures and flavors, as well as roasted Brussels sprouts with anchovy, lemon, and parmesan.
Ham, cheese, and egg croissant was amazing… very hearty to say the least! Very generous with the eggs and layers of grilled ham. Toasted croissant. I regret not getting their chocolate chip cookie, but I thought it was too early on a Saturday morning for dessert 😆 Would not order the drip coffee again though (very bitter). A lot of empty tables on a Saturday morning (if you’re looking for a place to chill).

Very popular and smells devine. Had lunch at the restaurant and it was very good. Went to bakery afterwards and bought a cookie that was 3.50 but was charged 4.50. Guy at register said “ya, chocolate chip is more”….ok I must have missed that. Later I’m on the website- chocolate chip $3.50. How do places get away with this??? It’s only $1 but it’s the principle- how you treat the people keeping you in business. We work hard too. Good cookie but not worth it.

I was driving up from South Bay and needed a quick bite. B. Patisserie has been on my want to go list for a while, but they did not have online orders and B. on the Go did. Plus, B. On the Go has breakfast sandwiches. I placed a scheduled order for pick up, estimating my arrival time. Got there about 5 minutes earlier, but it wasn't a problem. The food was actually ready. The place wasn't too busy, so we were able to eat the sandwiches there before continuing our drive North. The Braised Pork Belly Breakfast Sandwich and the Vegetarian Breakfast Sandwich were both delicious. Two thumbs up! We also got an oatmeal cherry toffee cookie to split. The cookie was good, but it was a tad too sweet for my taste buds. The lunch sandwiches looked good too and I'd definitely consider coming back the next time I'm in the area.

Came here with the wifey for breakfast. The Pork Belly sandwich is awesome! I’m a low carber so I spared the bun! 😋 We’ll be back for sure! Ps… The place is not crowded as their other store across the street! 👍🏽 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽

My friend and I decided to try to be on the go for lunch since we’ve had B patisserie before. We shared a sandwich and ordered a soup. The tomato soup was super salty to the point. It was uncomfortable to swallow so I asked the cashier if we could have another bowl but he said no the salt is pre-mixed already he offered to refund us for the soup, which I thought was very kind of him. We had the pork sandwich and it was so good not only was the meat good but the bread was soft soft and warm. Although though I was disappointed, I didn’t have my soup. I’m sure it’s pretty good except it was just overly salted. Will be back for more food next time.

Newly working in the area and wanted to try this place out. Ordered on phone at 12:01, was told 10min, didn’t get sandwich until 12:22- it had been sitting behind the counter apparently. Place was not busy. Also ordered a toffee cookie, ended up getting chocolate chip. Overall bad impression, don’t have this extra time on lunch break. Tuna melt was very mediocre, turned out to be panini style and was quite dry.

Ilana Coffee is a delightful gem nestled in the Richmond district of San Francisco, where simplicity meets flavor. This charming storefront bakery and deli offers an array of delicious options, including Vietnamese sandwiches like the BBQ pork banh mi, which you can enjoy at one of their sidewalk tables. The atmosphere is perfect for a quick solo lunch without long waits or hefty prices—ideal for those on the go!
I've been here a couple of times and it's soo good, I've had the Vietnamese iced coffee, iced Thai tea, and the BBQ pork Vietnamese sandwich. They were all great and I would definitely recommend them. There were also quite a few options for food and drinks, so I'm looking forward to going back and trying new things as everything has been good so far.

This place has always been amazing! The Vietnamese sandwiches, turkey sandwiches, and beverages are always splendid. The staff is friendly. There's frequently a nice place to sit either inside or outside. Love taking their sandwiches to go as well! Highly recommend, it's a place I bring my friends to!
Sofia F — Google review
Ilana Coffee is my food pilgrimage to San Francisco. My ultimate combo? Steam Pork with Pate Banhmi ($6.95) and Vietnamese Iced Coffee ($4.95 for M, $6.75 for L)! Their Banhmi is generously filled with Vietnamese steamed pork ham, pate, pickled vegetables, cilantro, and jalapenos for the perfect filling-to-bread ratio. The choice of baguette is perfect as well because it has a thin, crispy crust and a pillowy soft crumb; it gives texture without cutting the roof of your mouth. If your spice tolerance is low, consider omitting the jalapenos or removing the seeds yourself. You should also add an Iced Coffee because what’s a meal without a drink? The medium size is sufficient for me, though I do get it with less ice. Rich, smooth, creamy, and sweet - it’s hard to beat. You’ll definitely be energized with that hit of caffeine and condensed milk! I’m so glad my sister stumbled upon Ilana Coffee because it’s easy to overlook this mom ‘n’ pop shop in the Richmond District. The design is fairly simple: there’s the kitchen area with display cases of pastries and snacks, as well as the seating area both inside and outside. Although I would love to gatekeep Ilana Cafe, the quality of their banhmi alone is worth travelling for.

There are so many reasons to like Ilana Coffee. - It opens early and its service was very friendly, efficient and fast. - It's Vietnamese sandwich is great. I had a combination sandwich, with has ham. pate and headchese. It’s a junior size but good for the price and perfect as a breakfast. - It has a lot more than Vietnamese sandwich. I also tried an egg, cheese and ham breakfast sandwich and for $4.25 it has excellent value.

Lovely neighborhood cafe and sandwich shop. Stopped in this morning for a bagel with hummus and Viet coffee and am impressed with the service and fair pricing. I want to come back soon to try their banh mi subs. They have Wi-Fi and plugs which is nice and the seating is comfortable. Wish I had one of these next to my apartment in Tampa. Definitely support this small business if you can in sf!

2025 update: Ilana Coffee is my favorite coffee shop in the area. The people that work here are cool. The cafe feels local with good bagels, coffee, pastries and sandwiches. My favorite is their combo Vietnamese sandwich $8.25 w/extra meat pate +$1. Ilana Coffee is a great place to hang out on a lazy Sunday. Original review: Ilana Coffee have Vietnamese sandwiches. This is our early morning spot for coffee and a sandwich on the weekends. We usually ride our bicycles on the Great Highway and then through Golden Gate Park. It just so happens, this is the midway point before we head back. It is a good spot because they have chairs outside and we can park our bicycles on the sidewalk without having to lock them up. Service is friendly and quick.

First time ordering stone pot and tiger boba. It's not bad...it kind of tastes like Americanized korean food. The rice texture was off (lumpy, too much water when cooking), the ingredients aren't what was expected in a traditional bibimbap. Lettuce and mushroom looked unprepared. Sauce and kimchi were fine. Those were the only things that had a familiar texture and taste. The tiger boba is... OK as well. My first time trying tiger boba, flavor is good. Texture and consistency is... interesting. Service is good! Staff is friendly. Everything came out promptly. Portion is very large. Will fill you up! I would come back if I was really craving any type of rice and didn't want to walk too far.
