Waikiki is a vibrant neighborhood in Honolulu, known for its popular surf beach and high-rise hotels along the shore. The area offers designer fashion stores, waterside cocktail bars, fine dining, and hula shows at Kuhio Beach. Visitors can also explore the Honolulu Zoo with its Komodo dragons and Waikiki Aquarium's reef exhibit. Oahu, where Waikiki is located, boasts volcanic craters along the coastline and magnificent beaches.

Lanikai Beach, which translates to "heavenly sea" in Hawaiian, is a stunning 1/2 mile stretch of pristine white sand and crystal-clear turquoise waters located on the windward side of Oahu. It is consistently ranked among the best beaches in the world and offers breathtaking views of the Na Mokulua islands. Accessible only by public beach access paths, this residential area beach lacks lifeguards, restrooms, showers, and a public parking lot.
Just never gets old to visit!!! One of the more beautiful beaches to visit and spend some time. Go with patience, as the parking situation is tricky. There is no shade at the beach, and no bathrooms, you are in a neighborhood. But the reward is serenity.
Ricardo — Google review
Most beautiful beach in the world that I haven ever seen. The sand was so soft, the water is super clean and clear. The coconut trees are beautiful.
Liam H — Google review
In my opinion, Lanikai is the most beautiful beach in Oʻahu. It is definitely a must-see and easily the highlight of the trip. You could happily spend the entire day there. The scenery is beautiful with calm, turquoise water, white sand, palms around, and mountains behind you. The view is unforgettable, framed by the two small islands (the Mokuluas) right out front. This beach has everything you need for a perfect Hawaiian day, must recommend.
Bruno D — Google review
got here by bus from waikiki and took around an 1.5 hrs. the beach is beautiful and the water is cool and not as warm but still enjoyable. the sunset had amazing pink skies
Abu — Google review
The atmosphere is peaceful and almost surreal. Gentle waves create a soft background soundtrack and even when the beach is lively. Finding a parking spot is going to be a challenge.
Arsalan Z — Google review
--Most beautiful and calm beach! --my fiancee's favorite! --first time we kayaked here, then drove back the next day!
David — Google review
Lanikai beach was secluded, more quiet, and way more chill than Waikiki. It’s in a residential area so there’s no public bathrooms or any amenities so be prepared for that. I recommend doing the hiking trail and then the beach because it’s right next to each other
Peter K — Google review
My favorite beach in Oahu ! Parking is challenging but then you can access the beach by the small paths next to the houses on the beach. Sunset is amazing there even tho is on the east coast of the island

Hanauma Bay is a popular nature preserve and marine life conservation district on Oahu. It offers a beautiful beach, opportunities to see green sea turtles and parrotfish, and excellent snorkeling. To avoid crowds and enjoy clear waters, consider arriving before 7am when entry may be free. The bay was previously harmed by human development but has been restored under new conservation procedures.
Beautiful beach with plenty of reef. Got snorkeling gear and was able to see so many varieties of fish even on a very windy day. Felt like we had a better snorkeling experience on left side of the beach. There’s a store where you can rent all the snorkeling equipment you need. Reservations highly recommended.
Akash Y — Google review
Beautiful nature preservation on Oahu. Amazing location for snorkeling! Extremely busy so you have book your registration spots online 2 days in advance or visit in person before 7am the day of just to have a chance at getting in! The earlier you get in, the longer you can stay as they close at 3pm. A must visit if you can get in!
Philip C — Google review
This was my first time snorkeling! Perfect place for it! You can rent or bring your own. There is so much to see undewater! The fish are unbelievable and not at all scared of you, but you have to be careful of where you step. Also, if you're coming to Hawaii for a short time & want yo bisit Maunalua Bay, make sure you visit the website at least 48 hours prior to book a reservation because it goes fast!! However it's absolutely worth seeing and the beach is gorgeous!!
Marta S — Google review
Pay USD25 for tickets to get in. We went with a 'tour' for around USD50 per pax, which included hotel pickup and snorkeling equipment included, and I also added USD10 for a life vest. We arrived the earliest at 6.45 am when the park opens, but the waters were sadly too cold and we decided to enjoy by relaxing on the beach instead. The tour ends at 11:00 More visitors came at around 10:30 when the sun was stronger and a little bit more pleasant. Recommend to come on your own (totally doable) and especially if your hotel already provides snorkelling gear and beach hotels etc for free (as ours did), so you can pick the best time and leave as you wish.
WM — Google review
Good and safe place for snorkeling. Reservations are in place, book early and on time. There is parking fee as well. Saw beautiful fishes but not much as in Shark’s cove. There is a shop to rent out snorkel gears, price ranges from 10-20$. The depth increases as you go away from the beach so it is not random.
Shashank P — Google review
The view was breathtaking. Disappointed by the amount of fish we see while snorkeling, the best place to snorkel is in Sharks Cove. You have to book to get in at 7am 2 days ahead, parking is a bit of a nightmare. The clear water makes up for it. We went in the afternoon just hours before the beach closes and it was very crowded. We managed to take a few pictures of the water without people in it and it’s just heaven on earth.
Portia K — Google review
Bought tickets to snorkel here and had a blast. They brief you on what you can and can't do before you head down so just follow the rules. You can rent gear and equipment if you want. I would highly suggest getting snorkeling gear there is so much to see in the coral reef.
Michael — Google review
We booked an early spot which I recommend as you can get parking and it’s not too hot - there is limited shade at the beach This was a great snorkeling experience - we were in the water over an hour and were able to rinse off with the showers before leaving Could have better snack options - perhaps close to the beach

Kailua Beach is a stunning Hawaiian destination known for its tranquil turquoise waters and soft, white sandy shores. Spanning 3 miles along a crescent-shaped coastline, the beach is adorned with shady ironwood trees and offers breathtaking views of offshore islands in the distance. Despite its acclaim as one of the best beaches in Hawaii, Kailua Beach remains relatively uncrowded compared to its popular neighbor, Lanikai Beach.
I’ve been coming here on and off for the past 41 years. It’s one of the nicest beaches on Oahu and on the planet really. The north end of the beach is a lot less crowded because most of the access is gated at the end of the neighborhood streets. Best access is through Kailua Beach park, where there is plenty of parking and restroom facilities. The water is nice year-round and great for boogie boarding and body surfing as well as swimming. Great for long walks and family time alike. The Portuguese man o’ wars do come out in certain months more than others… That you’ll have to discover on your own. Enjoy some pictures of paradise!
Alex M — Google review
The speech has extra fine light colored sand, that is incredibly hard to get off of you, but does produce beautiful colored water. The water was pretty tame. I was there on a cloudy day and it was still nice
Andy T — Google review
One of my favorite beaches! Beautiful views, warm water and plenty of space on the beach.
Katie H — Google review
Beautiful beach and wasn’t over crowded like other beaches in the island! The water was so blue and beautiful! We could have stayed all day!
Dani A — Google review
If you can’t find parking at Lanikai Beach then you should just hangout here. Beautiful water and nice sand. Decent parking as well.
Jason W — Google review
Great little beach, has an outdoor shower, bathrooms. Water can be rough so maybe not here for a day with your little ones. When you park, go to the left. That’s the way to the beach. To the right goes into someone’s house 😳
Emily H — Google review
Beautiful beach with not so many people. The water is clean. Recommended.
Simona P — Google review
This beautiful beach offers a peaceful retreat with fewer crowds, making it perfect for relaxation. The water is crystal clear and inviting—ideal for swimming or simply soaking up the view. Highly recommended for anyone seeking tranquility and natural beauty.

Ala Moana Regional Park is a 100-acre park featuring a man-made beach with calm surf, tennis courts, and a pavilion. Situated across from the Ala Moana Shopping Center, it offers an alternative to Waikiki Beach with its grassy areas, shady tree zones, and white sandy beaches. The shallow water area is protected by a reef barrier and provides opportunities for snorkeling along the submerged rocks. The park is easily accessible in Honolulu with ample parking and good amenities.
The sunsets here are gorgeous. There are always beautiful people in the park doing some beautiful things like “bubbly therapy” or “dancing as the sun sets”. It’s a great place to run and place for kids. Locals are always around and it makes it an integrative experience. I did Tai Chai one morning. The view of Diamond Head is sweet and the hotel strip. It’s a pretty chill beach and wonderful place to just hang and have some fun in the sun or after sunset.
Darron J — Google review
Our main purpose when we came here was to watch the Friday fireworks. This park is big and has nice views of the city. It’s also a great place to relax, hang out, read a book and walking or jogging It’s a great place for kids to play in the playground or run around. It’s has plenty of parking too and it’s also free but keep in mind that it gets busy during special events like the fireworks. Best to get there early. I recommend bringing picnic blankets and chair if you’re going to hang out for a bit. We were there a couple of hours before the fireworks mainly to get a good spot and get a good view. We brought some food and enjoyed an early dinner. Overall a nice park however just be aware of your surroundings as we’ve seen people with carts and tents on the other side. The public washroom wasn’t as great either, not well maintained but I guess it’s just like any other public park.
Ivee M — Google review
Ala Moana Beach Park is a pretty big and convenient spot right in the heart of Honolulu. One of the best things about it is the location — it’s directly across the street from Ala Moana Center, so it’s super easy to grab something to eat, do a little shopping, and then head over to the beach to relax. I really enjoy picking up takeout from the mall and eating by the water while watching the sunset. The views are beautiful, and the water is calm and nice for swimming or just floating around. However, the beach itself isn’t perfect. The sand is a bit rough and not as soft as some of the other beaches on the island, and there are quite a few rocks when you go into the water, so you might want to wear water shoes. The park area is large and has plenty of space to walk, jog, or picnic, but it’s also known for having quite a few homeless people around. Most keep to themselves, but it can make the area feel a little uncomfortable, especially if you’re by yourself. I definitely wouldn’t recommend coming here alone at night. Overall, Ala Moana Beach Park is great for its convenience, accessibility, and sunset views, but it’s not the most peaceful or pristine beach on Oahu. Perfect for a quick dip or a lunch break by the water, but not necessarily a place I’d spend the whole day
Life R — Google review
I feel like this is a hidden gem in Oahu. The view is so beautiful here and the park was mostly empty when we went. We didn't go far into the park so we can't attest to the quality of the beach. But the grassy area was gorgeous enough.
LY T — Google review
One of my favorite places to be on the island. It is such a beautiful and lively park, great for taking pictures, walking, picknicking, sports,,, everything. You can even catch a beautiful sunset or sunrise. It is next to ala Moana so you can grab a treat or go shopping as well. Me and my husband recently even carved pumpkins there lol. You can do anything.
Annalyse A — Google review
Ala Moana has it's good points and bad...the actual beach has an awesome view of Diamond Head and Waikiki beach...the ocean is very calm next to the shore and some good 🐚 shells and rocks can be found You're able to see the sunset from start to finish ..There's a couple places to get a lunch plate at a reasonable cost...I always purchase a little cooler with wheels and bring ice, adult beverages and a few snacks before I head back to Washington I fill it full of food and drinks and leave it to Lloyd..a person who is housing challenged The homeless problem has been taken care of.A few homeless people hang out during the day but leave every night A few bad points are....the bathrooms need to be fixed up a little ...I see park workers trying to clean them daily but since they're next to a beach ..sand gets tracked in , giving the impression that they are dirty Parking on the weekend gets challenging I always go during the week...less crowded and plenty of good parking spots
Terry R — Google review
Beautiful huge park with huge shady trees. Lots of space to run, do yoga, have a picnic. Free Parking near Ala Moana beach and shopping mall.

Points of Interest & Landmarks
Ko Olina Lagoon 4 is the largest of four man-made bays in the Ko Olina resort community, featuring a white-sand beach and shallow waters protected by breakwaters. The lagoons are perfect for swimming and snorkeling, especially for beginners or children, as they offer a calm and almost wave-free environment. Surrounded by upscale hotels and green belts with shaded lounging areas, this spot provides a relaxing and reliable place to enjoy the clear, ultra-calm waters.
Lagoon 4 is more suitable for public visits, does not have resorts around it. Good infrastructure, restrooms, showers. No restaurants nearby though. Shallow warm water , great for kids. Not too crowded. Free parking. We really enjoyed our visit. Be mindful of your sun umbrellas, these are not allowed.
M Z — Google review
Great spot for a relaxing beach day! Parking is free, the water was clear and calm and there were clean public restrooms. I brought goggles and had fun looking at sea urchins and a.few fish in the clear water. There are four lagoons in total with paved pathways connecting them and a park at the point. Very kid friendly!
Rebecca L — Google review
We had a great experience at this lagoon. We arrived early and everything was very clean — the beach, the water, and even the restrooms and shower area. It’s perfect for families and kids because the water is calm, shallow, and very clear. We even saw a few small fish swimming by, which the kids loved. Parking was easy for us, probably because we came early. Overall, a really pleasant and relaxing spot.
Rachel J — Google review
Perfect place to learn to snorkel. Very calm waters and not too deep. You can see some fish. Great for swimming too. Lots of space on the beach to spread out. There is free parking but it’s always full with long lines. There is paid parking, $22 and so worth it. No wait at all and within a few steps you are on the beach.
KG P — Google review
Such a beautiful area to relax at! The parking was $22 for the full day, which I think is very pricey for parking but it was okay. There were bathrooms and showers, and there was a small stand selling coffee and açaí bowls, shaved ice, and a couple more items. There was plenty of space on the beach and lots of more place to walk around by the lagoon. Nice spot for a chill day!
Tara M — Google review
This place is filled with locals and families. Great lagoon for gentle waves and somewhat protected waters. There are public restrooms and a food cart next to the restrooms serving shaved ice and hot food. Parking can be difficult in the free zone, but there is paid parking too.
Sam — Google review
Visited yesterday. This place had a nice mix of locals and tourist families. Since it's a lagoon, the water was gentle, waves very limited, and the area is somewhat. There are public restrooms close by. Parking can be difficult in the free zone, but we went after 2pm and found parking pretty easily. There is a paid parking area too.
Samantha M — Google review
Super calm and clean spot, perfect for a swim or just relaxing. Easy parking, soft sand, and great snorkeling with plenty of fish. Feels like your own little private lagoon.

Waimea Bay is a renowned Pacific bay located on the North Shore, known for its pristine beach and big waves that attract high-profile surfing competitions. The bay is famous for hosting the Eddie Aikau Invitational, an exclusive big wave surfing tournament dedicated to Waimea lifeguard Eddie Aikau. This competition occurs when waves reach over thirty feet in height, making it a highly anticipated event with global viewership.
Absolutely gorgeous beach for laying on the sun and getting a nice tan and watching the waves wash ashore. The waves were pretty rough and can be challenging. The lifeguards are true professionals though and will make sure you aren’t doing anything you shouldn’t be. Get there early if you want free parking. Our friends arrived after we did and had to wait 20 minutes to get a spot.
Fernando M — Google review
Stunning North Shore spot. Clear turquoise water, fun cliff jumping, and soft sandy shore. The water is clean and the vibe is adventurous. Can get crowded so arriving early is best.
Anthony — Google review
Beautiful place to watch the surfers or nature. Absolutely beautiful place to pull off the road or into the beach parking lot and spend some time on the North Shore.
Mark M — Google review
Amazing little cove. Easiest snorkeling I could imagine. Plenty of fish. Water is shallow, deepest I found was 5ft. There can be some strong currents when waves break over the barrier rocks but otherwise very calm. Great for kids or anyone new to snorkeling.
Paul A — Google review
Great waves, great sand. Someday the surf is too high for boogie boards, but normally perfect. Has life guards. Cliff jumping if the tide is high enough- Don't try cliff jumping if you're not sure it's safe and deep enough!!! Use reef safe sunblock!
Perry N — Google review
During the summer time there are no waves and the water is so calm, you can swim out super far and see lots of fish. Good for kids 2+ years old. Bathrooms were okay. Parking get there before 9 am to get a spot. Probably my favorite beach on north shore.
Caitlin P — Google review
Very beautiful beach with cliff jumping. The water was clear and warm. Not too long to get to the beach from the parking. It was busy parking and not enough space but you could wait in your until someone left.
Hien T — Google review
Parking lot is super small and quickly fills up. Parking along the road above the beach is possible. Another solution is to park at the next beach north, then walk back using the sidewalk path (5-6min walk). If it is very crowded, then you can also park at the nearby waterfall park parking lot for $10. The rock at the south end of the beach is where people jump from. The best snorkeling is behind that rock, to the south-west.

Bellows Field Beach Park is a stunning oceanfront park with lush surroundings, offering beach access and picturesque mountain views. The park features 50 campsites divided into two sections: one requiring a military ID and the other open to the public. Both sections provide beachside camping opportunities with soft white sand, shaded areas from ironwood trees, clear blue waters, and breathtaking sunrise views.
One of my favorite beaches on Oahu. Because it requires a military ID not many people have access so we were able to enjoy the beach practically alone. The beach is clean and the water perfectly turquoise. It was a great experience.
Adriana Y — Google review
Bellows was amazing. I spent the night at the campgrounds, and the vibe was just right. Waking up to a stunning sunrise made the whole experience even better. I’ll definitely be coming back!

Heard about this spot from a friendly army fellah - spot on. The sand was nice n soft, waves surprisingly gentle for the wee ones, and the view was epic. Great spot. We came nice and early, practically had the beach to ourselves. 5 for 5 all day long. 🤙

Fantastic place to spend a beach day. Note: You need a military ID to enter or be with someone who does. Beautiful setting. Good waves for boogie boarding, body surfing. Restroom facilities as well.

Bellows Field Beach Park is a stunning destination for anyone who loves the ocean and fresh air. The beach features crystal-clear water that sparkles in the sunlight, creating a perfect setting for a relaxing swim or a leisurely walk along the shore. The atmosphere is calm and refreshing, with clean sand and plenty of open space to unwind. I truly enjoyed spending time here, as the gentle waves and natural surroundings make it easy to forget the rush of daily life. Swimming in the clear blue water was especially enjoyable—it felt both invigorating and peaceful. Whether you’re visiting for a quick dip or a full day of beach fun, Bellows Field Beach Park offers an ideal escape for nature lovers and anyone seeking pure relaxation.

Open saturdays and sundays to the public. Went on Sunday and It was busy, but there was still a good amount of parking left. Still spacious enough to feel like you weren’t encroaching in someone else’s space. Bluest water I’ve seen in a while 🩵 so beautiful. There is a lot of microplastic in the sand so we collected some and threw it away.

Kailua Beach Park is a beloved destination known for its clear waters, fine sand, and excellent facilities. The beach offers a wide arc of powdery sand alongside jewel-colored waters, making it perfect for leisurely walks and family outings. It's a hotspot for aquatic activities such as kitesurfing, windsurfing, swimming, and kayaking. The calm waters are ideal for various water sports year-round.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Absolutely stunning beach! Soft white sand, clear turquoise water, and breathtaking mountain views. Perfect for swimming, walking, or just relaxing under the sun. Family-friendly with calm waves and plenty of space. One of the best beaches in Hawaii!
Kim H — Google review
We visited Kailua Beach Park on a Wednesday afternoon. Even though it wasn’t a weekend or holiday, both parking lots were completely full. After driving around for a bit, we luckily found a spot near Buzz’s Original Steak House across the street. Parking here is definitely more challenging than some reviews suggest. The beach itself is gorgeous — super soft white sand and clear blue water. We even spotted a sea turtle! Honestly, while it’s beautiful, it didn’t completely blow me away compared to some other beaches in Oahu. The shallow bay and protection of Popoia Island provide calm waters, great if you have small children not used to the surfing waves of most beaches. Watching people kayaking and sailing turned out to be part of the fun. With the picnic grounds, public restrooms and showers the park is great for a full day outing. One of my favorite parts was the small stretch of rocky shoreline at the southeastern end of the beach, near the Lanikai Monument. It’s peaceful, picturesque, and perfect for photos. From there, you can enjoy sweeping views of Kailua Beach, the nearby Lanikai Beach, and the beautiful offshore islands, Moku Nui and Moku Iki.
Alex P — Google review
absolutely breathtaking — one of the most beautiful beaches I’ve ever visited. The sand is soft and powdery, the water is a stunning turquoise, and the waves are gentle enough for swimming, kayaking, or just floating around. It feels less crowded and more relaxed compared to Waikīkī, making it perfect for families, couples, or anyone who just wants to enjoy Hawaii’s natural beauty in peace. The park itself is well-kept with plenty of space, shaded picnic areas, and facilities that make it easy to spend the whole day here. Kayaking out to the Mokulua Islands is a must if you’re up for an adventure, and the views from the shore are just as incredible. Highly recommend making this a stop on your Oahu trip!

We enjoyed this park, we visited some other attractions in the area and it was a great place to spend the afternoon. Not a lot of natural shade but there are some trees down the beach. Sand is very soft, Caribbean type, great for walking around the bay, however, when the wind was picking up, the sand was all over the place. Great place for families with kids or older people, waves were fun without being dangerous. Facilities are outdated but working. We didn't see any lifesaving staff around. Close to restaurants and convenience stores.

🌊 5 stars – Absolutely Stunning Beach! This beach is an absolute paradise! The water is a breathtaking shade of turquoise — so clear and inviting. The soft white sand and gentle waves make it perfect for swimming and relaxing Free parking. Restrooms and outdoor showers are conveniently located just steps from the beach, which is a big help if you’re spending the whole day there. Another bonus — Buzz’s Steak House is right nearby! It’s the perfect spot to grab a delicious meal after a day in the sun. Whether you’re a local or visiting, this beach is a must-see. I’ll definitely be coming back!

Went Kayaking for the first time in my life out to the flat Island. Then ontoa secluded beach whose name escapes me. Our friends went to the Mokes. Pictures were few as we were in the water either kayaking or snorkeling. Worth the trip.

Great place to swim, walk the beach and enjoy the scenery. It is easy to find parking b/c there are so many parts to park at. Bathrooms and showers available. The pavilions are great for hosting parties.
Erica K — Google review
Wonderful soft sand feels great under your feet. The beach isn't very deep and is beginning to erode and expose the roots around the trees that outline the shoreline. When you wait into the water it drops off fairly quickly but then it's only up to your waist. There's not a lot here for waves as it is pretty well protected by the reef outside. Plenty of kite sailors here. It's fun watching their multicolored sails. Depending upon what time you get there will determine how much parking there is. Sometimes it's a little tough to find.

Kualoa Regional Park is a stunning waterside park that provides breathtaking views of both the ocean and mountains. The 150-acre peninsula features two campgrounds, Campground A and Campground B. Campground A is closed during the summer for a children's camping program, while Campground B offers 14 campsites with amenities such as bathrooms and outdoor showers.
Supposedly the Menahone built the fish ponds here. It's a historical site and the rock walls are 800-1200 years old. The beach is beautiful scattered with many different shells and Chinese Hat Mountain off shore. A wonderful way to spend the day.

This park has a long stretch of beach front and plenty of open grass fields. There’s abundant picnic tables with some being under trees for shade. It’s a beautiful place to capture the Hawaiian landscape. The second half of the park is posted only for permitted campers. There plenty of parking and a few restrooms.
Brandon S — Google review
Kualoa Beach Park used to be so beautiful but I’m not sure what happened. The restrooms are not very well maintained and there are a lot of dead reefs around the beach area. The scenery is still nice and it’s worth visiting at least once if you’re a tourist especially for the view of the mountains and ocean together. But for locals, it’s not as enjoyable or as pretty as it used to be. There are also some rock or dam-like structures in the water that kind of ruin the natural view.

Pūpūkea Beach Park, located on the North Shore, is a scenic area known for its excellent snorkeling opportunities. The park is divided into several sections, with the northern end being ideal for families and kids. Sharks Cove is a great place to explore tide pools during low tide, while further south lies Three Tables Beach where visitors can snorkel and spot reef fish or crabs. This beach park also serves as the home of the famous Bonzai Pipeline during winter months.
I visited during the winter months so the waves were HUGE and so cool, I've never seen anything like it anywhere else. The sunset was beautiful, as you can see from the photos. There's a lifeguard shack right by where I was sitting and they are so attentive! One even stopped a toddler from running into the ocean when their parents weren't paying attention. Mad respect for those guys, they don't miss a thing! I'll definitely be coming back to this beach in the future.

Pupukea Beach offers a stunning escape for those seeking natural beauty and ocean views. While we initially visited in hopes of snorkeling, the strong waves made the conditions unsafe. Instead, we decided to stay and soak in the breathtaking sunset, and what a spectacular choice that turned out to be! For sunset lovers, this beach is a must-visit. Although the snorkeling conditions weren’t ideal, Pupukea Beach still proved to be a rewarding destination for those who appreciate the grandiosity of nature. If you're looking for a peaceful spot to end your day, this beach is a perfect choice.

Spotted sting ray. Turtles. Plenty of fish. Good area for beginners and experienced snorkeling. Water was clear and warm... colder in the deep area. Mango trees for shade on shore but there is a climb down the rocks to the water. Bring water shoes.

Some of the best and clearest snorkeling around. Beautiful vibrant reefs and a variety of fish. Be wary of currents and conditions and arrive early for best parking. Take signage seriously and only park where allowed

Great place for snorkeling! Protected from waves by a large rock belt. Tons of fish and other sea creatures. Also, restrooms have changing areas and there is a shower near the beach. Parking can be hard to come by, so arrive early.
Larry K — Google review
So, not my favorite place only because it's hell on my feet. Meaning that if you don't have water shoes don't bother trying this place out. Old coral/rock that will ruin your day if you're not careful. Really cool place though as it's pretty protected from the surf. Check it out
Chris N — Google review
Went snorkeling between Sharks Cove and the park. Good shower and bathroom. Water is usually calm in the summer. Did not see lifeguard where we went in, but a lot of people were out. Families played in the shallows. Some scuba guys swam below us checking out the reef.

Waimānalo Bay Beach Park is a picturesque paradise located just a 45-minute drive from Waikiki Beach. Beautiful beach with wonderful mountain views. Love this white sand and emerald blue water😊 but difficult to find a parking spot.
Lina I — Google review
We found this during my research of beaches to stop at on a drive around the island. It has a very large parking lot so there was no issue there. The sand is soft and the beach extends a fair distance. There were many families here enjoying a picnic, boogie boarding, or throwing footballs. We walked up and down the beach as it has really scenic views looking up and down the beach both ways. We wish we had more time to spend here.
Jackie N — Google review
Who doesn't love a world famous beach? Plenty of parking, beautiful blue water, and lots of ironwood trees for hammocks, and on site fresh water showers. Lifeguards patrol the spread frequently. Signs are posted normally warning those not familiar with safe ocean activity engagement. Take note, there can be strong currents and even man-o-war.

If you want to get away from Waikiki for the day, this can be a place for you. It is easily accessible by car. It is also accessible by the bus, even though it takes almost 1.5 hours from Waikiki. There are a few places to grab lunch near the beach. Like going to any other beach, bringing sunscreen and a bottle of water is recommended.

Halona Beach Cove, also known as Eternity Beach or Cockroach Cove, is a small and picturesque cove surrounded by rugged cliffs on Oahu's South Shore. This secluded beach gained fame as the filming location for the iconic scene in the movie 'From Here to Eternity.' Despite its popularity, reaching the sandy shore requires a challenging hike, which helps maintain its calm and serene atmosphere.
This place is beautiful. We came to see the blowhole and noticed this cove down below the viewing area. Surprisingly it was not crowded. We climbed down to it and really enjoyed it. Be careful the waves were pretty strong on the day we went.

Nam D — Google review
Halona Beach Cove 🐠🔹 This is truly one of the most unique and exciting beaches I’ve ever been to. It’s tucked away in a rocky cove and honestly feels like something out of a movie. The cliffs around it make the whole place look insane, and the turquoise water makes it almost impossible not to want to dive in. I swam out and came back since I’m a strong swimmer, but it’s definitely dangerous. The waves can slam you into the rocks and the currents are really strong, so you have to be extra careful here if you swim out. It’s not the kind of beach where you can just float around close to shore. Snorkeling was incredible. We saw so many different fish, some emitted unique opalescent colours, a lot of the schools that caught the sunlight would turn rainbow under the water. Watching that shimmer surrounded by the cliffs was something I’ll never forget. It’s a really cool place for cliff jumping and the people there are really friendly. Halona isn’t the safest spot for casual swimming, but if you’re adventurous and careful it’s one of the most fun and memorable beaches you’ll ever visit.
Anthony — Google review
The best, but not safest, swimming spot we found on the whole island in our week-long trip. Waves are strong, climbing the rocks is risky and slippery, but a piece of paradise for sure.
Hsd — Google review
The beauty of the beach cove is five stars, but safety was not good, so I take one star out. Yes, adults should be fine with carefully mind but kids and people with conditions should have someone to consult with them. No safeguard down here, wave is very strong. The area that has lots of rock is very dangerous, even it looks safe and gorgeous it is very slippery and sharp. The wave will suck you out easily then you have to crew back to save your life on that type of rock so YOU MUST BE CAREFUL with your jewelry! The water can suck out all of your belonging on you body if you wear to the water! I know it is sound stupid if anyone will wear jewelry to the beach but believe it or not my husband lost his wedding ring and his pinky ring at the cove. Another girl that walked down with us also lost her rings and bracelet too. I talk to a group of local who was there, one of them lost their necklace in the past at this place. My husband tried to go back but I stopped him. It isn't worth at all to risk of your life for it. It is just the object even his value for our story, but I won't trade anything for his life. It was sad and disappointed, and my husband blame himself to made that such a wrong decision, but I take it as an exchange you lost something but safe the most valuable. From the pictures you will see the area that most people are enjoy, it is the area on the right of the beach that next to the cove and the surface at the bottom is flat and only sand. The area is safer to enjoy this beach but as I mentioned about the wave, you must be mindful of your own safety. This beach is like a beautiful flower that draw the insect but also very dangerous.
Melissa N — Google review
The view is stunning. The blue of the sea is gorgeous and I couldn't wait to get in. There is a sign saying it is dangerous and a restricted area but people were happy to risk their lives climbing down the rocks to get to it. So worth it! There's a cave at the back too, very instagramable. The water was crazy, the waves were crashing. The cliff side was beautiful, seeing the layers of rock. We went a couple of times. It did get busy at one point.

Diamond Head Beach Park is a stunning landmark formed from volcanic eruption, nestled in a crater with breathtaking shoreline views. Located just 16.9 miles from Honolulu, it offers a tranquil escape from the city without being too far to reach. Visitors can engage in various activities such as surfing, snorkeling, and excursions while enjoying the timeless beauty of the beach park.
A great place to stop and enjoy a scenic overlook is Diamond Head Beach Park. A beautiful and peaceful spot near the Diamond Head Lighthouse, with plenty of street parking available, especially on weekdays. If you’re feeling adventurous, take the steep but safe paved pathway—with a firm railing—down to the beach. Along the way, you’ll be treated to breathtaking views of the ocean and lighthouse. A walk east across the rocks gives you great views of the lighthouse from below. While popular with surfers, the beach was not crowded on our Wednesday morning visit. It was fun to watch them from the shore sitting on the warm sand. The water was refreshing, but be aware that the beach is rocky, so water shoes are recommended. There’s also a convenient shower station near the top of the pathway to rinse off after swimming or surfing. Whether you’re relaxing by the shore or admiring the scenery from above, it’s a wonderful place to unwind.
Alex P — Google review
This was the very first beach we visited in Hawaii, and it felt like the perfect welcome. The setting is peaceful and natural, with wide open views of the ocean and plenty of space to just sit back and relax. The beach isn’t crowded at all — we were able to enjoy the sound of the waves and the breeze without distractions. One fun detail: lots of chickens and roosters wandering around, which really adds to the local island charm. The sand is soft, and it’s a beautiful spot to bring a chair, sit under the sky, and watch the water. Swimming can be tricky in some areas because of the reef, but for relaxing, walking, or just enjoying the scenery, it’s a gem. 🌴 Calm, quiet, and full of character — a great first stop in Hawaii.
Dolca C — Google review
A beach for explorers and surfers. This is an interesting beach for sure. The path to get here is paved with a handrail however it’s on an incline it’s not a short walk. Seems like good surfing judging by the number of surfers in the water. There’s tide pools and trees for shade. There is also a lighthouse a short walk down the beach.
Brandon S — Google review
This is a nice, small beach that seems to be a popular spot for surfers and some fishers. While it might not be the best for swimming, I definitely recommend visiting for sunset; it was absolutely gorgeous and made the trip worth it. You can have a great view of the Diamond Head Lighthouse from there.
Bruno D — Google review
Diamond Head Beach Park looks beautiful from above, but it’s not a comfortable beach for relaxing. Parking is easy to find, but if you’re looking for a place to lie down and enjoy the sun, this spot isn’t for you. There’s hardly any soft sand, mostly rocks and coral. The scenery is nice, but it’s not good for swimming or sunbathing. Maybe surfers would enjoy it, although there are definitely better beaches for that too
Andrey B — Google review
Great beach with great overlook. Have to walk maybe a 1/4 miles down to the beach. Paved path all the way down with handrails. Had to give -1 star just due to some spouts not working and homeless folks and stuff just lying around. They aren't in the way but it does affect a bit of the beauty of the park and overlook. If you can "overlook" that this is a must see visiting Hawaii. Just seeing locals surf in the distance and sailboat going by while with a wind blowing on you is a great feeling. Overall, check it out if you have a means of vehicle. Traveling this way on a bike or walking is tough since you do have to go uphill.
Jonathan K — Google review
Great place to view Honolulu from and to see the remnants of an old volcano crater. Word of warning. You do have to have a good head for heights, be able to walk uphill for about 1 mile, climb alot of steps and not suffer with claustrophobia; there is a tunnel to negotiate.

Waimea Bay Beach Park is a popular destination on the North Shore of Oahu, offering a stunning stretch of white sand and turquoise waters. It's known for its diverse marine life, making it an ideal spot for snorkeling. During the summer, it's considered one of the best swimming beaches, while in winter, experienced surfers can take on the big waves that reach up to 30 feet.
Love this place since the 80s. Great in summer for swimming. Jumping off the rock, etc. Parking is eh, I suggest crack of dawn but in-between 9-10 just go paid parking across street at Waimea valley. They have a section for a flat price of 20 bucks.
Chad Z — Google review
My favorite beach from my trip to Oahu! The waves are great, the water gets deep quickly, and the rocks make for some fun jumps. Highly recommend! However I went between 5pm-8pm and it is true that parking is always full.

Very nice beach park. Opening hours are 5 am to 10 pm. Great for picnics. Dogs are allowed. Free parking but limited spaces. Beautiful place
Carine — Google review
We’ve been spending time on the west side of Oʻahu and decided to take a day trip up to Waimea Bay Beach Park, and I’m so glad we did! I’ve seen photos and videos of this place for years, but being there in person is a completely different experience. During our visit in October 2025, the waves were absolutely massive — crashing hard and creating that dramatic North Shore energy that everyone talks about. It’s definitely not the kind of beach for inexperienced swimmers when the surf is up, but for me, I loved it. The sound of the waves, the power of the ocean, and the natural beauty of the bay are just mesmerizing. The lifeguards were super attentive, constantly making announcements over the speakers reminding everyone to stay safe and be mindful of the conditions. I really appreciated how present and alert they were — it made me feel like safety was a top priority. Normally, there’s a big rock (known as “Da Big Rock”) where people love to jump into the ocean, but because the waves were so strong this time, no one was jumping. Honestly, it was still incredible to watch the ocean’s power from the shore — you can really feel the energy of the place. The beach itself is gorgeous. The sand is soft and clean, and it’s perfect for laying out, having a picnic, or just watching the waves roll in. There are picnic tables scattered around the park, plenty of shade from the trees if you need a break from the sun, and the restrooms are well maintained — something I always appreciate at a busy beach. Tip: Come early! Parking is very limited, and the lot fills up quickly, especially on weekends or when the surf is big. If you arrive mid-morning or later, you might have to circle around or park farther away. Overall, Waimea Bay Beach Park is one of those must-visit spots on Oʻahu — whether you come for the swimming and cliff jumping in the calm summer months or just to watch the massive waves in winter, it never disappoints. Every time I visit, I’m reminded how powerful and beautiful the Hawaiian coastline truly is. Highly recommend!
Life R — Google review
Great day at the beach. The waves are starting to get more intense as winter nears. We found a drone and gopro in the surf if it is yours let me know so we can try to get it back to you.
Kevin O — Google review
Beautiful north shore beach. Attention Tourists: Beach angle is steep, not flat, you can tumble down the hill and get washed away. Also the waves are powerful, so no wading in the water, you’ll get sucked out to sea. It’s serious so don’t mess around. But as long as you’re not being a dummy, this is a great beach to hang out.
J V — Google review
Perfect for swimming and sunbath. Clean sand, planty free space, but limited parking, park along the road. The jumping from the rock pretty much safe. Several heights to jump from. Water is clean and warm in the beginning of August

Great beach – wide and clean, with public restrooms available. It can get quite busy, but the limited parking keeps the crowds manageable, so there’s still plenty of space to relax. There’s also a rock ledge for cliff jumping — definitely for the brave ones! You can meet here seals.

Waimea Bay Beach, located on Oahu's North Shore, is a versatile destination offering both summer and winter activities. In the summer, visitors can enjoy swimming and snorkeling in the sandy beach area. During winter, the bay becomes a popular surf spot with big waves attracting adrenaline enthusiasts to dive from the famous 30-foot rock known as Da Big Rock.
The best beach we went to for relaxation and swimming with a 2.5 year old. You must get there well before 7 am to get free parking, so hit this beach your first few days on Oahu if you are from mainland USA. Crystal clear water with no rocks. Swam/snorkeled with both a sea turtle and a seal! Amazing views and kids will love jumping off the 30 foot rock. We saw 5 sailboats anchored in the bay.

Beautiful beach with limited parking and nice showers. Lots of lifeguards on duty as the current could get so beware!! Really there is no shade so bring an umbrella and chairs and the sand gets extremely hot and it's a very very wide beach and wide! The water is quite deep right away but it's very clear and clean.
Louise B — Google review
This beach is fantastic! Parking is easy but limited. There are showers near parking. The cliff jumping is an absolute blast and there are a few little sea caves a few feet beneath the water directly below the cliff. There was plenty of life in the water. The turtles were eating and drifting back and forth in the current and stayed with us for a long time.
Joseph B — Google review
We loved this beach! Took our family during the summer. When we went the shore just took deep slow breaths and the water was clear. Saw lots of schools of fish. While we were swimming we saw a large seal swimming just 10ft away!

Such a beautiful beach. The waves were incredible, we could get out of the water. If you are not the best swimmer, I would recommend being aware of where the tide breaks and just look at the flags. The bathroom was under renovation when I was at the beach, but there were showers available for use.

Waimea Bay Beach – A Stunning Slice of Oahu Worth the Early Wake-Up We left Waikīkī at 6:00 AM sharp, determined to get a good parking spot at Waimea Bay, one of the most beautiful and popular beaches on Oahu’s North Shore. With some questionable speeding involved (which we definitely don’t recommend), we arrived around 7:20 AM—only to discover that the parking lot was already full! Cars were already lining the roadside before the entrance. That’s how fast this place fills up. I dropped off my family while I waited in a small line of cars, hoping someone would leave. About 45 minutes later, I finally got a spot. It was a bit of a hassle, but once we got settled in, it was completely worth it. The beach itself is absolutely stunning—golden sand, clear blue water, and a laid-back atmosphere. There’s a rocky cliff on one end, perfect for the brave souls who want to try a jump into the ocean (a popular but unofficial activity). In the water, there’s plenty to see below the surface, with schools of tropical fish swimming all around. Definitely bring your snorkel gear if you have it—it adds a whole new layer to the experience. We came prepared with a beach tent and umbrella, which were lifesavers in the strong sun. Sunscreen is a must (reef-safe only, please), and so is bringing your own lunch, snacks, and drinks—there aren’t many options nearby, and you’ll want to spend the whole day here once you arrive. And don’t forget your camera—between the cliff jumps, sea life, and ocean views, there are memories waiting to be captured. The waves were strong but manageable for adults, though if you’re visiting with younger kids, you’ll want to keep a close eye on them at all times—Waimea’s surf can be unpredictable. In short: • Arrive early (VERY early) • Don’t speed—better to be late than sorry • Be patient with parking • Bring your own food, shade, and snorkeling gear • Enjoy one of the most beautiful beaches on the island Waimea Bay is a North Shore gem—busy but breathtaking, and an unforgettable part of any Oahu adventure.

Tucked back from the coast so a beautiful view. Water is clear and blue. Did see a seal but he was out a bit from the beach. Will definitely be back.

One of the best boogie boarding/bodysurfing beaches you can go to on the Hawaiian Islands! Waves are the perfect height, though some huge waves come in to fast, and beach isn’t crowded at all. Very scenic views of the mountains and distant islands.

Ko Olina Beach is a beautiful, secluded beach found on the leeward side of Oahu. It consists of four interconnected lagoons with white sand beaches and is perfect for family fun.
Love this place. This is our second trip back since 2018 and it's beautiful as ever.

Safe area for wading water and swimming near resorts, clean grass area, soft white sand, perfect for families. Parking is the hardest part as it’s a small lot

My go-to place to relax. Love the lagoons and the sunsets are gorgeous. So much to do here with the resorts and Disney Aulani is a lot of fun. Just don’t bring an umbrella or tent here or they will ask you to take it down. Please follow the rules and clean up when you’re done. The parking lots are always full but with a little patience, you can get a spot. Great place to visit when on vacation, I highly recommend it 👍

Amazing parking is hard to find in the first lagoon so go to the self paid parking by the marina. There is permit parking and paid public parking. Don’t sit in line at the first parking lot go tot he left of it and go to paid parking

Wonderful place to visit. Loved lagoon 3 the best. Lagoons are open to anyone but most locals and non stayers of the resort visit lagoon 4. We went to lagoon 2 and almost had it to ourselves. Maybe 4-6 other people.

Kuilima Cove, located on the North Shore of Oahu, is a popular choice for beach snorkeling. Unlike Hanauma Bay, it offers convenient free parking at Turtle Bay Resort without the hassle of registration and parking issues. The beach features a restaurant, showers built into a tree, and rental options for umbrellas and chairs. It's considered safe for children with calm waves along the shore. While not the best spot for snorkeling, it still attracts many visitors daily.
Beautiful cove on the Ritz Carlton Turtle Bay property! Seriously so family-friendly with the cabanas, pool chairs, outdoor showers, and walk ways. On a sunny day this beach is calm and enjoyable but keep in mind that if the weather is cold and windy, just be cautious as there is no lifeguard on duty. Sand is grainy and fun to track through the hotel, beach has lots of areas to explore both in and out of the water, and lots of room for the whole family versus the pool areas.
Keahi L — Google review
Kid friendly beach by Turtle Bay resort, with easy snorkeling in 4-10ft water wading distance from the shore. Parking is available at Turtle Bay, beach chairs and umbrellas can be rented and restrooms are nearby. The cove is relatively sheltered from the big swells, and with a little patience one can see a fair number of fish.
Vaibhav V — Google review
This is my top choice for beach snorkeling on Oahu. I much prefer it to Hanauma Bay as it doesn't have all the troubles of registering, parking, sunscreen, etc. Convenient free parking at Turtle Bay resort, with a restaurant and showers (built into a tree🌴) on the beach. Umbrellas and chairs are also available for rental for $45 for 4 hrs or $60 for the day. My kids 5-13 loved it, and it was a highlight of our visit. FYI, it is to the Right of Turtle Bay Resort when facing the ocean. To the left would another beach for surfing.
Arthur G — Google review
It’s an okay beach, but snorkeling was nowhere near as good as I’d read it would be. Lots of waves churning up the sand, so you couldn’t see anything. And lots of people from the resort, so a bit busy. Parking was easy, though, which was nice.
Alex V — Google review
Nice beach. Turtle Bay Resort basically backs right onto it, so a lot of resort guests. Good snorkeling considering how many people go theough everyday. Used the resort shower afterwards and was not challenged or questioned. Safe environment as this is a cove. For a more interesting experience, I re ommend snorkeling in the tidal pool at Sharks Cove, but make sure you have water shoes.
Dominic C — Google review
Great beach on the north shore. Free parking for public beach access located right next to the Turtle Bay resort. Beach is calm enough in the winter as probably the only safe beach for kids on the North Shore. Not the best snorkeling, but still worth coming out to. If coming from Honolulu, would be better to go through the eastern part of the island to go back.
Randy L — Google review
A small yet beautiful cove for snorkeling. Not as many fish as Hanauma, but much easier to access. Drive to the north side of the island and the resort has plenty of designated beach access parking. The beach runs a long way east from the cove if you just want sun, space, and peace.
Steven M — Google review
The cove is great for snorkeling and swimming. It's safe for children especially on this side of this island, waves are clam on the shore side. Please note there is no lifeguard on duty. Occasionally there are some sea animals chilling on the beach.

Turtle Bay is a stunning resort beach located on the north shore of Oahu, known for its picturesque views and abundant wildlife. The bay is named after the Green Sea Turtles that frequent its waters, and it's also home to the James Campbell National Wildlife Refuge, where visitors can spot endangered species like waterbirds and Hawaiian Monk Seals. The area offers gentle waters for kayaking and snorkeling, with opportunities to see a variety of fish and sea turtles.
Great beach. Unfortunately I didn't see turtles but the beach was lovely. The place very organised with parking lot and signs and not just a stopping point on the road like the other beaches. The ground under the water is rocky so you should wear shoes. There are washrooms and restaurant at the beach.
Gal N — Google review
Turtle Bay on Oahu's North Shore is an incredible destination that offers a blend of natural beauty and resort amenities, making it perfect for visitors seeking both relaxation and adventure. The beach itself is part of the larger Turtle Bay Resort, but it's open to the public, providing a beautiful spot to enjoy swimming, snorkeling, and possibly spotting some of the sea turtles that give the bay its name. Kuilima Cove, located within Turtle Bay, is ideal for snorkeling, especially for beginners. The water is often calm thanks to the protective reef, and there’s a lifeguard on duty most of the time, adding an extra layer of safety. The visibility is excellent, and you can explore a variety of marine life just a few feet from the shore. Parking at Turtle Bay Resort can be a bit pricey, with a fee of around $35 per night for resort guests, but there are also some free parking options available if you’re just visiting the beach for the day. However, these spots tend to fill up quickly, so it’s advisable to arrive early, especially on weekends. One of the highlights of Turtle Bay is the array of activities available both on and off the water. Whether you're interested in stand-up paddleboarding, outrigger canoe tours, or simply lounging on the beach, there’s something for everyone. The resort itself also offers a range of dining options and cultural experiences like lei-making and ukulele lessons. Overall, Turtle Bay provides a serene and scenic experience that showcases the best of Oahu’s North Shore. Just be prepared for some parking challenges and consider the additional costs if you're planning to stay at the resort.

A lovely place to go walk around. We unfortunately ended up getting caught in the rain and they're very much was no shade so we were soaked by the time we made it back to the car which is my only complaint but definitely scenic and magical. We got to see some monk seals while we were walking around including a baby

We came to Turtle Bay a month before everything changed in 2020. Fast forward to 2024 and wow, what a major improvement. The location is superb and the views both day and night make it worth the trip. All the amenities are above and beyond. Your access to options outside the resort are easy with a car. Recommend you visit the Polynesian Culture Center while staying.

As a beach compared to the rest of the world it's paradise. As a beach on Oahu i have to say this was just ok. We didn't see any turtles the day we were there and the snorkeling was just OK. We went to do many beaches with better snorkeling and sand the rest of our vacation. The beach sand was somewhat rough. The public parking was great. The Turtle Bay hotel grounds were very nice.

This little hidden gem of a public swimming area of the beach. There’s a park, trails, and many beach entrances. This is a hidden within one of the lagoons by the resorts many entrances. I believe it was lagoon 6 or 7. Also there’s critters just out in the public doing it with no shame. The beach itself is pretty shallow for long while, then gets deeper, then closed off at the end with just a little gap for the waves to push through. Water was about 72 degrees when we went March 16, 2024. There’s rocks to find sea life, clear enough to watch fish swim by you, and shells, corral to snag to take home. Lots and lots of parking too.

Nestled at the base of the Ko'olau Mountains in Oahu, Kaiona Beach Park is a hidden gem often overshadowed by its neighboring beaches. Its name, which translates to "attractive sea" in Hawaiian, perfectly captures the allure of its sparkling turquoise waters. Despite being overlooked due to limited parking and residential proximity, this four-acre park offers a serene escape with clear waters and soft white sand.
Beautiful local quiet spot east of the hustle and bustle of Waikiki beaches… calmer waves for beginner surfers and less crowds. Met up with our local surf instructor and we had the beach to ourselves for a couple hours. Rent a car if you are visiting so you can drive around the island.

Everything about this place is perfect except for the parking. Maybe 12 spaces. So likely have to park on the street. Quiet and calm
Monica A — Google review
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Kaiona Beach, tucked away on Oahu’s windward side, is one of those places that feels like a secret spot even though it’s right off the highway. The first thing you notice is how calm and inviting the water looks—shallow, turquoise-blue, and protected by the offshore reef. It’s the kind of beach where you don’t have to worry about big waves, so it’s perfect for families with kids, or anyone who just wants to float, swim, or wade without a rush of surf. The sand here is soft and golden, stretching into clear water that stays shallow for quite a distance. Lining the beach are ironwood and kiawe trees that provide plenty of natural shade, which makes it easy to spend hours relaxing, reading, or setting up a picnic without baking in the sun. The views are classic east Oahu—green mountains behind you, Rabbit Island off in the distance, and endless blue ocean in front. What makes Kaiona stand out is its atmosphere. It doesn’t feel touristy at all—it’s more of a community beach where locals come with their families, so the vibe is relaxed, friendly, and low-key. There are no major facilities (so plan accordingly), but parking is straightforward and much less of a hassle compared to the island’s busier beaches. If you’re looking for a peaceful, scenic spot that feels authentic and untouched, Kaiona Beach is the kind of place you’ll want to spend an entire afternoon. It may not have the crowds or fame of Kailua or Lanikai, but that’s exactly what makes it so special.
Thomas G — Google review

However, this unspoiled beach offers pristine waters and beautiful underwater scenery, perfect for snorkeling and swimming with dolphins and sea turtles.

It’s a beautiful beach, not super crowded with soft sand and calm clear waters. It’s bit of a walk from parking to beach, especially if you’re carrying a lot of stuff, and there are no bathrooms on the beach, you have to drive like a mile or more just to get to the bathrooms at the other beach (and those did not have any toilet paper)

Shark’s Cove is a popular snorkeling spot located on the North Shore of Oahu. Despite its name, it's not known for shark sightings but rather for its abundance of fish, coral, and unique rock formations. As one of only three Marine Life Conservation Districts on Oahu, it offers a rich underwater ecosystem with various marine life that are less afraid of human visitors. The area is especially great for beginners as it provides a sense of safety within the naturally-protected swimming area.
This is one of the better snorkel spots on the island. Beware a parking can be rough. Getting into the water and maneuvering around the water and the rocks is very difficult. Especially when there’s crowds. I don’t think this should discourage somebody from coming though. I would definitely recommend putting your slippers on once you’re slightly in the water instead of trying to walk with them on. Once you have your flippers on and you’re in deep enough water, I recommend swimming right away. It’s much easier than trying to stand and maneuver through the different rocks and waves. There are two different sections of sharks Cove. The tide pools on the left side and the deeper side on the right. I think it’s worth it to explore both. The shallow waters of the tide pools allow you to see coral and little creatures much closer up. The deeper water gives you a better look at bigger fish, and potentially things like turtles.
Ashley L — Google review
This is always a place I return to for a sheltered cove for snorkeling and if you're an able swimmer and the waves are tame, you can swim around the perimeter of Shark's Cove. Highly recommended and like I said I always return when I visit Oahu, weather permitting. Family friendly for kids, recommend getting water shoes because the rocks are sharp!
Sam — Google review
EPIC entry-level snorkeling within a big "pool". Break wall keeps the waves and the sharks out if you're concerned about that. Mostly 3-6ft feet deep, quite clear, some rocks/coral but everywhere under the water is smooth with sand between. Sandals or watershoes would be advised but not required. Tons of families and kids. Water is mostly very calm. There's a small opening at the outer edge where the current comes in, but its deep enough that you don't get pushed into the rocks. You can go outside the break wall but it's about 15ft deep and rougher on the outside. LOTS of cool fish, you can practically touch them. But watch out for Urchins. They're not poisonous, but they are all over, hiding in holes and under rocks, so be careful where youn put your hands. Fair amount of parking around. Grovery store and food trucks across the street. Washrooms could be better (no soap).
Andrew C — Google review

This was a fun place to visit with our family. We purchased our snorkel and masks in advance of our trip to hawaii. The water was super clear, and we were able to see many fish and sea life in the reef area. You could easily spend about 2 to 3 hours in this place. Make sure you wear sunscreen as it can be pretty hot in the month of june.
David S — Google review
We saw lots beautiful fish and even a turtle! It can be very shallow though so you're doing a lot of wading and climbing over rocks. Water shoes are a must. Maybe try to go at high tide so the water will be a little deeper.

Sandy Beach, located on the southeastern shore of Oahu near Koko Crater, is a picturesque and tranquil spot famous for its large waves that attract surfers and bodyboarders. The beach's fine yellow sand and scenic views make it a popular destination. However, the powerful rip currents and sharp drop-off in the ocean floor near the shoreline can be dangerous for inexperienced swimmers during high surf.
Love Sandy’s ! Go for sunrisw and see the magnificent colors of pink and orange and the sound of crashing waves ! We were bake to see 2 seals and brought our well behaved dog. Nice crowd friendly beach goers . Easy to locate and perfect weather . Easily access bathroom facilities too

This beach stretches quite a bit and gives beach goers a lot of prime spaces for sunbathing. Just keeping driving towards the north end of the beach to find parking. Beach was clean and there was a bathroom where one can change. Some shaded areas were available and the view was wonderful. The waves were a bit strong and not a good place for the young ones.

Sandy Beach was intense in the best way. Big, clear turquoise waves and strong currents made swimming feel like a full body workout but it was ridiculously fun. The water was unreal and every wave came in fast and heavy. If you’re not a great swimmer, don’t go out too far. This spot doesn’t play.

This is a great place to snorkel and swim without getting smashed against the rocks and reef. The entire park is great with great views just go check it out and thank me later with a like. Sorry I don't have any pictures of the inside of the lagoon but as you can see in my pictures the lagoon wall does a good job keeping the waves out.

The beach offers convenient access to snorkeling adventures, protected by a man-made barrier wall known as Kapahulu Groin. This creates calm waters perfect for snorkeling, allowing for safe exploration of the thriving marine ecosystem below.
We really enjoy going here as it has a water break and makes for a nice swimming area. The beach area is clean and has nice sand. There is a safety officer that walks up and down the beach to keep an eye on things. There are also lots of resturants and stores close by for snacks.

Great beach at a great location. The water was calm and the crowd was thick. Walking distance to an abundance of entertainment, shopping and dining. Picturesque views in all directions. Plenty of shade under the gorgeous trees.
Dodd B — Google review
Most popular and easiest beach to go in Oahu. It is not the most clean and beautiful but because this beach is right in the front of Waikiki, you can just walk there and enjoy almost everything. The beach is totally city vibe so if you can't stand being crowded you might have to come super early or late night, but you won't see anything or if you rent a car you can go to another beach that more private. Overall, I like it. so lively and festive.
Melissa N — Google review
Kūhiō Beach is great, due to the fact that it has a wall that breaks the big waves which makes it very safe for children and for people that can't swim very well. Ther is also a side for experienced swimmers that prefer to catch waves, go farther in the ocean, or surf.
ZymixProductions — Google review
✨ Kuhio Beach is super fun! There are always lots of happenings, music, and activities. Today there was even a competition, and the atmosphere was amazing! 🎶🏖️ Definitely a must-visit spot in Waikiki.

After completing the Honolulu Marathon I had to walk back to my hotel room on Ala Moana Boulevard. Passing by Kuhio Beach, I couldn't resist dipping into the ocean for a celebratory swim! Very cool beach, has outdoor wash down showers as well.

Kaimana Beach, also affectionately known as Sans Souci Beach, is a delightful family-friendly oasis nestled at the entrance of the picturesque Gold Coast in Waikiki. This inviting stretch of sand boasts shallow waters perfect for children to splash around safely, while its protective reef ensures calm conditions ideal for snorkeling and paddleboarding. The beach's serene atmosphere makes it a favorite among locals and visitors alike, offering a peaceful retreat from the busier areas of Waikiki.
Good spot to swim, snorkel, or look for seals. Parking was pretty full but I didn’t have to wait long for a spot. Saw two Hawaiian monk seals on the beach from 10am-12pm! There is a lifeguard that makes sure people don’t get too close to the seals.
K W — Google review
Great little beach that is walkable from the Waikiki beach hotels. We went on a weekday morning and it was not very crowded and felt safe. There are also people snorkeling here, although I did not see many fish.
Anthony — Google review
The beach is really small, and honestly, it felt a little dirty. One of the downsides is how close it is to the hotels; you'll hear all the music and noise right on the sand. Maybe it's decent when there's hardly anyone around, but if it's busy, forget it. With so many amazing beaches nearby, I wouldn't recommend Kaimana Beach.
Bruno D — Google review
Such a wonderful beach! Right next to the giant field, and pretty close to Waikiki. It's pretty small, I'm not sure if there's parking anywhere, but the area around is very walkable. It's also free to enter, and there were no bathrooms.
Theo W — Google review
This is a hidden gem on the edge of Waikiki at the base of diamond head. Lots of sand and clear water that is not crowed with tourist. Some it is closed down due to the monk seals, but there is still plenty of beach left for everyone.

Yokohama Bay, also known as Keawaula in Hawaiian, is a secluded and tranquil beach located at the northernmost point of Oahu's leeward coast. It offers a serene environment with high winter surf, rocky ocean bottom, and strong currents. During the summer months, this remote bay becomes an ideal spot for swimming and snorkeling due to its crystal-clear waters and abundant marine life. The surrounding hiking trails provide breathtaking views of the mountains and rugged beauty of the area.
It’s the best place ever! Be sure that you take everything: food, drinks, umbrellas, towels I will recommend to camp here for 1 night Coolest hike for sunset: 1,5 hour one way Beach gate closed at 7pm, be sure that you put your car outside!!! We saw a lady who stuck there because she doesn’t know that!! No one will open a gate after 7pm (!!!) Amazing sunset, beach and water So your trip for all day can be: Visit a cave (old cemetery of Hawaiians) Visit hike with cave up there Then beach time Camping Morning way back (because they work on the road and we stuck there in traffic after 7pm for 45 min) Good luck!
Анастасия Е — Google review
I don't think there is a comprehensive review so I'll add mine for locals - phenomenal beach not very crowded, however very little shade and you'll need your umbrella. Some toilets present . For tourists: On most days, when there are waves, you will be asked not to swim in the majority of the beach. You will be sent to a small lagoon, or asked to go to another beach. While it's a great place for snorkeling, its great for a reason, there are a lot of sharp rocks where your foot can get stuck. Generally, tourists aren't encouraged to swim or stay on the beach itself by lifeguards on duty. There is no shade on the beach, so you'll need an umbrella. Sunset is phenomenal in general. Cute hike at the end. More like a walk.
Anna — Google review
Cool area to explore right off the trail. Be careful though as there are centipedes, I spotted one, and they bite (see last photo) Hurts like all heck too if they get ahold of you. Aside from that, it’s a bit rocky so if you decide to explore off the trail here, be careful as there are not a lot of means to get you medical attention, if it were necessary.

Although a long drive into the west side of Oahu..its worth the little get away. . Passing Makaha Beach into yok's The beach at the end use to be open before the pandemic. You can still walk to the beach ⛱

Definitely a wonderful spot for an unique sunset ! It’s a ling way to go, but definitely worth the ride, because you’ll have a quiet but wonderful beach that looks so peaceful. For those that went to Kauai, i’d say it has the same vibe as Polihale but without the longest bumpy road ever…
Valery T — Google review
Great beach at the very end of the road on the West side. It has a mix of waves, tide pools, and hiking. Good place to spend the day and watch the sunset. Possibly be able to see whales, spinner dolphins, or main seals. There aren't any stores, so make sure to bring what you need for the day.
William W — Google review
Very far away from the business of Honolulu. The beach is large, there's a lifeguard. It's very beautiful and a more dry than the other side of the island. Just note that it is a high theft area, so don't keep your valuables in plain sight.

ʻEhukai Beach Park, also known as Banzai Pipeline, is a popular surfing destination with massive waves in the winter and calmer waters in the summer. It's part of a two-mile stretch of beach that offers some of the best surf-watching opportunities in the world. The park provides off-road parking and restrooms, making it convenient for visitors. Nearby attractions include Sharks Cove for tidepool exploration and snorkeling, as well as world-famous Waimea Bay.
Don’t miss this place if you are on the North Shore of Oahu from November thru February! If you are lucky you will see the massive waves at this park which is also known as the Bonzai Pipeline. There are lots of surfers riding these big waves. You can check the wave forecast. Some days the waves are bigger than other days. You can sit in the sand and watch the surfers. There are areas with shade too. There are bathrooms and picnic tables. No swimming unless you are an expert surfers. It is too dangerous. But the view is like nothing you have ever seen before. Parking can be a problem. The small parking lot for this Park fills up quickly. In the morning it is easier to find a parking spot. Between 8AM and 10AM. Do not miss this place if you are in the area in the wintertime.

Best beach on the whole North Shore. Very easy to park every single time we passed it. We stopped here 3 separate times during our weeklong trip, so that should say everything. We saw 3 different beaches too. 1st - huge waves, tons of surfers, 2nd - huge waves, one surfer, 3rd at sunset (great views) - incredible atmosphere with medium waves and everyone from birth to death out there on a surfboard. Obviously whole families enjoying the wide beach. If you're driving through, stop by.

Chuns Reef Beach, also known as Chuns, is a popular recreational beach retreat located on the North Shore of Oahu. It features soft sands and ocean waves that create ideal surfing conditions. The beach has two main sections for surfing - a break closer to shore with long, gentle waves suitable for beginners and a break further out for more advanced surfers. Chuns offers a glimpse of everyday surf culture and is less crowded than other nearby beaches like Waimea or Haleiwa.
Top 3 beaches in Oahu. Hidden gem, found it by accident. Water is as beautiful as Lanikai, just much less people around. Parking is scarce and it’s easy to miss but once you are there, it’s another paradise.
Dre H — Google review
Chuns Reef Beach was the pretty cool beach to surf, but if you’re a beginner or first-time surfing at Chuns Reef Beach, be careful of lava rocks. Waves are fantastic, depending on the weather, but I had good waves to surf. Besides lava rocks, I think Chuns Reed Beach was a beautiful place to surf. And you will see many surfers are surfing at this beach as well.

We had a great time here. One side of the beach was for swimming and snorkeling, the other side was for surfing. It made for a great Sunday post-church activity. Until some dude named Limmy showed up. Was he the devil? Someone needs to get an exorcist up in here. No, but the beach is great. I totally recommend.

I love this beach. It never gets crowded (on the sand). It has a great right riding for surfers. Watch out for the reefs.

Great beach to see turtles. You can also catch good waves. This is one of our favorites beaches in the North Shore of Oahu.

Love our early morning swimming and snorkeling there! We’ve seen many turtles 🐢 around. 😃the water is a bit sandy, but we were still able to spot various fish and turtles throughout the underwater experience.

Beautiful beach in a little cove so the waters are pretty calm. On the other side of the cove I walked out on the tide pools to see lots of critters and I saw two turtles! We also saw one turtle on the cove side while snorkelling. It's a secluded beach that is attached to the resort but is available for public use, which is great because there is a restroom! Public parking at the resort is limited but we were able to find a spot on a Monday afternoon.
Tina H — Google review
There is a walkway access to the beach. The beach is at the resort, but everyone can also enjoy the beach. We didn't see any turtle here but maybe it is not a season. Sunset at turtle bay was beautiful and I'm glad I went to visit Turtle Bay even I didn't stay at north shore.

This is a nice beach to sit back and relax watching the water waves. There are restrooms at the entrance to the beach. The hotel guests get to use the chairs while others sit on the sand. There is a bar by the beach to grab a few drinks too. There was a wedding by the beach in progress when we visited. We didn’t see turtles when we visited. There is a large free parking lot but spaces are limited during the peak hours of the day.

A super nice beach that is semi secluded yet open to the public. Rather calm waves reach the beach within this small cove. Beautiful white fine sand. The beach is nearby a resort. Amenities of the resort can be purchased (such as rentals) in a nearby cabana. Nearby parking was also free. Visiting this beach motivated me to explore the nearby resort and plan for future stay.

This park is a treasured jewel of Honolulu. Many local people enjoy their time with sunshine, wave, ocean, grass, friends and their pets. Spur of the moment, quick picnic on a week night, and it wasn't crowded at all. Enjoyed the fresh air, sights, food, and, of course, bonding with the family. We saw some ladies having a BBQ night close to the water, a good idea for the next visit. The picnic area is clean and well maintained. There are trash bins everywhere. It's a place where locals meet tourists. There's something for everyone here - swimming, picnic, work at the beach, run, walk your dog, wedding photography, and so much more. Pokai Bay Beach is a secluded shoreline surrounded by a reef, offering calm waters ideal for swimming and snorkeling, making it perfect for families with children. This off-the-beaten-path beach is popular with locals and offers a dog-friendly environment up to the high water point. Protected by an offshore breakwater, it remains calm throughout the year, making it suitable for activities like stand-up paddleboarding and kayaking.
Wonderful place to take families and little ones. Not many tourists, ample parking, calm waters and sandy beaches. There is a bathhouse but it is closed for renovations (April 22, 2023). There are portajohns and an outdoor shower available though. Grilling is allowed. Tents and canopies are also allowed. Parking does fill up fast. The north end of the bay is not protected, so that end is better for surfing. The south end is protected so you can snorkel and see the turtles and rays....and if you get there early enough, dolphins. Just don't get too close to the wildlife.

This section of beach is ok - beautiful as are all Oahu beaches, but the section just south of this one is filled with homeless camps & tents & overflowing trash bins right now. I wouldn't recommend traveling to this part of the island for this beach. So many others feel safer and cleaner

This is definitely a local’s beach, there are 2 sections. North side is more peaceful, beach is rocky and you can just watch the waves and relax. The south side is where everybody swims and crowded. It has a huge parking area but it can get full really quick before sunset.

It was perfect for my daughter (4) as she’s still intimidated by waves, here she was able to swim out further than she’s ever been because of the calm waters. We ended our nights here while in town to catch the sunset in the warm waters. The locals use this place for a rowing league; it was nice to see them rowing and practicing every night. Totally recommend this beach if you have small children. I did a couple sunrise swims here and saw sea turtles several times, as well as seals.

Good beach for families. Calm waters. However occasionally it can get big waves for surfing. When the water is clear during the summer it’s great for snorkeling. I’ve seen lots of marine life including sea turtles. Lots of sea turtles and sea lions frequent this bay. Dolphins also but usually far away. However the sea turtles like to go in shallow waters. Don’t be surprised is one swims by you or behind you. They can sneak up on you sometimes. Early morning walks on this beach are quiet and calming.

Pearl Harbor National Memorial is a significant site that commemorates the 1941 Pearl Harbor attack. It includes the USS Arizona Memorial, a museum, and galleries. Managed by the National Park Service, it consists of five distinct destinations. The memorial not only tells the story of the devastating Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor but also covers other historical events such as wartime internment of Japanese Americans and World War II battles.
We were there when there was two construction so it was not possible to get advanced tickets. We were able to get there early in the morning and get on the waiting list. Then I'm already outside is very moving. The memorial itself is actually US Navy property and the personnel are very military and expect respect and reverence. The historical visitor center information was interesting. We didn't pay for the guided out of your tour but didn't feel it we were missing anything. There are two other museums that are attached for an additional charge but the national park itself is free. We found the park rangers here to be exceptional and very well versed in their subject matter.

Hard not to tear up out here. So many families changed instantly. Eternal respect for all those who serve with honor. Heaven forbid those have to pay the same sacrifice! Word to the wise- don't see anywhere listed that the last boat out to the USS Arizona Memorial is at 330 pm (1530 hrs), though the Park is open until 5 pm. (1700 hrs) The Bowfin is quite an experience to walk through..These guys we're tasked with one of the ultimate risks of a wartime environment. Getting thru the bulkhead doors was something at 65 w two total hips....they ran through them when needed elsewhere in the Sub. Truly astounding. The museum for the submarine service is remarkable. Lots to learn there. Too much to see in one or two visits....we need to return. Reckon this place is a huge linchpin in United States history. Gettysburg, Lexington, and Pearl Harbor; all US citizens should be able to recite their importance in US history. Can I? Not completely, and it's shameful. Sure I learned some in 4th grade, and on. But these events are what our freedoms are founded on; what gave us and the world notice of our ability and intent following those events. We should all know them better.

If you’re planning a trip to Oahu, visiting the Pearl Harbor National Memorial is an absolute must. It’s one of those places that really makes history come alive, and best of all, entry is completely free. The memorial is beautifully maintained, and the exhibits do an incredible job of telling the story of Pearl Harbor and the events of World War II. It’s a powerful, moving experience that gives you a deeper appreciation for the sacrifices made by so many. A few tips to make your visit smoother: if you’re driving, pay for parking because spots fill up fast, especially in the mornings. Speaking of mornings, I highly recommend arriving early—the lines for the USS Arizona Memorial ferry can get long. The ferry itself is free, and it’s a serene, respectful way to pay your respects at the Arizona. One important note: no bags are allowed on the ferry, so plan to leave them at home or securely in your car. Take your time walking through the exhibits and reading the plaques—there’s a lot of history packed into the memorial, and it’s really worth absorbing. Whether you’re a history buff or just curious about one of the most significant moments in American history, this visit is both educational and moving. Overall, the Pearl Harbor National Memorial is an unforgettable experience. It’s well-organized, meaningful, and a must-see if you’re on Oahu. Don’t miss it!

This is a large memorial that has various sections spread across the area, and involves a lot of walking. There are several attractions on site, all ticketed separately, or can be combined with one single passport pass. The only free attraction is the Arizona Memorial, for which you actually get on a free 5 minute boat ride, and get to spend 15 minutes at the site. The rest include various plaques, sculptures, memorial boards etc. All ticketing and experience details are listed and priced on the official website. Would highly recommend wearing easy to walk shoes, and bring a hat as most attractions are open air and it’s hot when sunny. There are restrooms located across various points. There is a gift shop and book store at the exit of the memorial. The virtual reality tours are really nice and very decently priced.

This is a well taken care of museum. There were several things to do. You HAVE to take the Arizona tour. The grave site is undescribable. It's a must feel/see. The history of the site is described very well in the self guided tour with a little move and walk through museums. The submarine museum is extra. It was work the money.

A once in a lifetime experience. All that you read about visiting it is confusing. Go and just enjoy the Memorial and gain your own memories. The movie is a MUST see. The trip to the Arizona is a nice boat ride. You only need about 15 minutes on the Arizona Memorial its self. Enjoy the park wander and explore what is interesting to you. Take in what you can and don't feel like you have to do it all. If you have never been on a battleship or submarine experience it here otherwise there is plenty to explore. Nice gift shop lots of unique its specific to Pearl Harbor. I did a self guided tour was there for 3 hour and was happy with my visit. They sell snacks and drinks. Have adequate restrooms. DO NOTE WHAT TYPE OF BAG YOU TRY TO BRING IN. I had a clear see through bag with water and snacks and had no problem.

It's just almost too hard to talk about it. In every way it was worth visiting and honoring so many veterans that have lost their life to sea. We were very blessed to be there on veterans day. May every one of their souls rest in the peace.

Rich in history, and gives you a strong sense of what the bombing of Pearl Harbor was like. Enjoyed the boat ride to see the Arizona. The movie at the theater was informative. Highly recommend getting the audio since it goes into more details. The staff were helpful and informative. Remember to bring a clear back pack otherwise, you will have to put your purse and backpack into a storage area. Bring a refillable water bottle to stay hydrated. Just snacks to purchase at the store.

The Polynesian Cultural Center is a vibrant showcase of Pacific island cultures, offering immersive experiences such as luaus, live shows, and cultural tours. Located in Haleiwa town on the north shore of Oahu, it's conveniently situated near popular attractions like Matsumoto Shave Ice and Dole Plantation.
I highly recommend the super ambassador tour. It is well worth the extra money and you get a wonderful experience. The entire area is wonderful as you move through the different islands and learn about each individual culture. The dinner is amazing with wonderful food and a great treat drink. After dinner you get an absolutely fantastic show. I don't want to go into too much detail as to not spoil anything. I just want to say again the whole experience is fantastic and I will be back. One piece of advice, it is doable in a single day but you get multiple days with your ticket. I would recommend at least 2 if not 3 days too be able to see everything this amazing place has to offer.

I had an amazing experience at the Polynesian Cultural Center! I visited all six islands, and joined in most the of activities from 12 p.m. to 9 p.m. — it was such a full and unforgettable day. The energy and warmth from everyone were incredible, especially during the welcoming dances. I even got to join in and dance with them — so much fun! A special thank-you to my private tour guide, Jasmine (from Philippines), who was absolutely wonderful — knowledgeable, friendly, and perfectly organized. She made sure we stayed on schedule and didn’t miss a thing. Each island had its own unique charm, and I loved learning about the traditions, music, and culture of each one. The buffet dinner was delicious with plenty of great options, and the live music and dance performances during dinner made it even more special. The “Ha: Breath of Life” evening show was absolutely amazing — a breathtaking performance that shared Polynesian history and island culture through music, dance, and storytelling. I highly recommend booking the Super Ambassador Package — it’s super worth it! You get a private guide, priority seating, and a much more personal experience. This was truly one of the best things I did in Oahu.

Amazing experience for our family. We loved experiencing each village/island and learning more about each culture. I wish we had more time. I recommend getting there early to ensure you can check everything out. We got the package with the gateway buffet. The buffet food wasn't amazing. Next time we come, we'll do the luau and get a tour guide. We found ourselves figuring out where to go next which made it hard catch all of the shows. The breath of life show is amazing and an excellent way to end the night. Very impressed with the quality of the show and the story told. We'll definitely come back next time we go to Oahu.

We had such an amazing time at the Polynesian Cultural Centre. At first, we debated on which package to purchase but ended up with the Super Ambassador Package, and it was such a great choice! It started off with a tour of the Polynesian islands, and Roslyn, our guide, was fantastic! So informative and allowing us to experience each of the sites that were key for us. Getting to learn about the history of each island was really insightful! It was really sad to leave Roslyn, but thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and being with us during the time! We then went to watch the Aliʻi Lūʻau buffet and learned the story of the Queen. James, our server, was so polite and kind with us! Thank you for making us feel welcome! The food was amazing, and seeing the imu was such an experience! The Lūʻau performance as well was just wonderful to watch. We ended the night with the HĀ: Breath of Life show, and I can see why photos and videos aren’t allowed during the show. The story and entire show were simply breathtaking to see. Everyone apart of the show did an amazing job! Overall, this was a wonderful way to learn about Polynesia and get to know the history and culture of each island. Having a private guide and reserved seating really does make a difference, and it was a wonderful way to enjoy the cultural centre. Thank you so much to everyone there!

Amazing experience! We got the Alii Luau package and had no regrets. We were worried it was going to feel like a school field trip but we had a blast. Whole day was great. Had a group tour with “Te” who was fantastic, planning our afternoon. All the shows were great, funny and the food at the Luau was incredible.

One of the best “tourist” experiences I’ve ever had anywhere in the world. The performers are so beautiful it made me cry. Everything is so organized, clean, well kept, gorgeous and full of joy and life. Our tour guide, Mia, was excellent. She was so friendly and knowledgeable about everything. The dinner was absolutely spectacular!!! A buffet where everything is high quality and delicious. I came with no expectations and didn’t really know what was here. And I was so blown away. Highly recommend!!

Spending the day at the PCC was a dream come true. We have been wanting to visit here for many years. It was such a great day. We took the guided tour with Joseph from the Philippines and he was great. The shows were amazing and the activities were fun. We really loved the Luau buffet, although the food was not great, we overlooked it for the Luau. We absolutely loved the HA breath of life show- the dancers, choreography and story were delightful. I love how you get 3 days on one ticket. We missed 2 of the demonstrations on the first day, so went back the next day to catch the 2 we missed. We really enjoyed making the weaves fish and the canoe ride. Tonga out on a great show and the Tahitian dancers are incredible. A great way to spend the day, all of the workers were so friendly. It’s a beautiful place.

This is an outstanding place to spend a long day. If you are staying in Waikiki be sure to buy your tickets ahead of time online at the official Polynesian Cultural Center website and get the round-trip bus tickets. The main theater is in a half-circle and the seats, except at the far edges are all good. The buffet was excellent with many, many choices including vegetarian. All the island areas represented have informative short shows and talking to the stedent employees is a great side benefit. The place never seemed crowded although there were many people of all ages in attendance.

Iolani Palace, located in Honolulu, is a historic 19th-century royal residence that once housed Hawaii's last monarchs. It has been restored and transformed into a museum offering tours and exhibits for visitors to explore the rich history of the Hawaiian monarchy. The palace was home to Queen Liliuokalani and King Kalakaua from 1882 to 1893 until the overthrow of the Hawaiian monarchy.
Iolani Palace is a beautiful and special place to visit in Honolulu. It’s full of history and has a peaceful atmosphere. I didn’t know much about Hawaiian royalty before, but the tour taught me a lot. It’s the only royal palace in the United States, which makes it quite unique. The building is stunning, both outside and inside. The rooms are well kept, and you can see where the kings and queens of Hawaii once lived. Everything is very elegant. From the wooden staircase to the royal dining room. You can really feel the history when you walk through the palace. I took the audio tour, which was very helpful and easy to follow. It made the experience more meaningful and helped me understand Hawaiian culture better. The staff were also friendly and helpful. They gave clear directions and made sure everything ran smoothly.

Nice to learn about the history of Hawaii and loyal family. This palace was not an actual palace that king lived in it was just one of the places he stayed when he had a guess. Sadly, the basement was closed for maintenance, so I only went two floors of the palace. No taking video inside only noncommercial camera without flash. They have self-audio tour so you can choose which room you want to go, and most people just follow the room number. Overall is not bad and kids will like it but I just feel it is kind of small compared to the ticket price.

Great cultural experience of the history of Hawaii from King Kamehameha on. The palace is extremely impressive with the portraits and technology that was ahead of its time. This is a definite must see to truly understand and embrace the true Hawaii!

This is a must-visit location for anyone interested in learning more about the past. Every corner is rich with historical significance, and the exhibits are thoughtfully curated to offer both educational value and engaging stories. Whether you’re a history buff or just curious, there’s so much to take in and appreciate. The staff is knowledgeable, and the atmosphere really brings the stories to life. Highly recommended for families, students, or anyone looking to connect with history in a meaningful way.

An icon of Hawaiian history and heritage. The guided audio tour was very well organized without being overwhelming. The information presented in the audio narration was concise without missing important details - there were many excerpts included from letters and diaries of the Hawaiian royals and their associates which added great atmosphere to the overall experience. The palace itself is beautiful and very well maintained. There are many spots on the palace lawns to sit and relax and take in the surroundings. There's also a massive Banyan tree behind the palace, not sure how old, but nonetheless magnificent to behold. Highly recommend visiting the Iolani Palace if you can.

If you're a history nerd and hate the whitewashing of Hawaiian history, definitely visit the Iolani Palace. We did the audio tour which I made me wish we did the docent tour just so I could ask questions. The palace is stunning, and they did an amazing job restoring it and continuing to maintain it. They do provide wheelchairs which my partner and I needed due to different foot injuries, but it's very difficult to navigate as the door frames are very small and some rooms you'll need to go a different route to enter.
Comfy P — Google review
I enjoyed this visit. It was pretty well kept and the audio guides were very helpful. We could also bring our baby in a stroller with no issues - there is an elevator inside. The workers were also very friendly and help us navigate the building. Mahalo!

Well worth a visit. Beautifully restored back to the times of the last kings and Queens. Good audio tour, that takes you through the various rooms at a reasonable pace (you can choose to spend more or less time in each room as you wish, you have a tour start time, but there is no end time).

Outdoor Activities
The Honolulu Zoo is a 42-acre family-friendly attraction located at the end of Waikiki, towards Diamond Head. It's the only zoo in the US to have originated from a king's grant by King Kalakaua. With over 900 animals, including elephants, orangutans, and komodo dragons, it offers a diverse range of wildlife. The zoo also hosts events and educational programs for visitors to enjoy.
I haven't been to a zoo in eons. This zoo has great exhibits with big animals like tigers, elephants, giraffes, a warthog, gibbons monkeys, huge tortoise and hippos! Very impressed with the reptile and bird exhibits! Wow, very cool. Plenty of shady spots to sit and rest. To the right of the entrance/gift shop and across from flamingos there's a purified refillable water fountain and bathroom. Several clean bathrooms scattered throughout the zoo. Gorgeous trees and 🌺 flowers. The parking lot has kiosks for paying - $1.50/hr. Three hours was the perfect amount of time to walk the entire zoo without rushing.
Shaktidancer — Google review
If you have little ones or just love seeing animals, I definitely recommend spending some time at the Honolulu Zoo! It’s such a fun and relaxing spot right in Waikīkī, and it’s perfect for families, couples, or anyone looking for something enjoyable to do outdoors. We visited in October with our family of 10, including several young kids, and everyone had a great time. The weather was absolutely perfect — warm but not too hot — and there was plenty of shade throughout the zoo to keep things comfortable. The grounds are beautiful and well-kept, and the staff we interacted with were friendly and welcoming. This isn’t necessarily an all-day adventure, but that’s part of what makes it great. You can easily see everything in about half a day and still feel like you got the full experience. There’s a nice variety of animals to see — some of our favorites were the different monkeys, the giraffes, the hippo, the lion, and the tiger. The bird exhibits were also amazing, with so many colorful and unique species. The kids were especially fascinated by the monkeys and loved watching them swing around and play. We appreciated that the zoo was clean, easy to navigate, and not overly crowded when we went. There are spots to grab snacks or drinks, and it’s located near plenty of places to eat if you want to grab lunch afterward. The price of admission is very reasonable, especially considering how much fun and learning it offers for kids and adults alike. Overall, we had such a great experience at the Honolulu Zoo. It’s the perfect half-day outing for families visiting Oʻahu — educational, entertaining, and just the right pace for a relaxing day. Highly recommend adding it to your list of things to do while in Honolulu!

Nice staff, clean grounds, and a decent variety of animals. Elephants, giraffes, and African Penguins were some of our favorites. Some spaces were under renovation. We didn’t realize until we were there that they also have a nighttime at the zoo event on some Saturdays. Take sunscreen, a hat, and a water bottle.

This is the cleanest zoo I’ve ever been to and had a lot of variety of animals. I got to take my husband here for his first ever zoo experience. I love the exhibits and how it felt like you were in a world away from the city with the trees and landscape. I can tell the staff really takes care of the animals. Definitely hit up their cafe as they have delicious options that will surely satisfy your hunger. We spent a long time there as we wanted to see everything and get our tickets worth. Make sure to wear comfy shoes as it will take you more than two hours to see everything. We went on a weekday close to opening and it wasn’t too busy.

For $21 per adult and free for our 18 month old daughter, there is value for what you pay. That said, many exhibits were closed. We were able to enter without any wait. Bird heavy zoo/exhibits. Elephants, Giraffes and lions were my favorite. The highlight was the gibbons being quite lively (see video, volume up)! The giant koi fish were impressive as well. You’re definitely getting your steps in visiting this zoo! Be sure to pay for parking at the pay station before you enter and leave the receipt on your dashboard. Fair amount of parking.

Great zoo, easy to walk and good enclosures for the animals, volunteers to help educate you on the animals behavior and wonderful exhibits! Bishop Museum, also known as the Hawaii State Museum of Natural and Cultural History, is a must-visit destination in Oahu. Established in 1888, it honors the legacy of Princess Bernice with millions of artifacts and exhibits showcasing Hawaiian and other Pacific Island cultures. The museum's impressive building exudes old-world charm with its dark wood and wrought iron accents.
Took our 2.5 year old who loves dinosaurs to see the dinosaur exhibit. The exhibit did not disappoint. The dinosaurs were lifelike and moved/made noises. While there we also went to the Hawaii Culture center to learn more about Hawaiian culture. You could spend days in the three floors of Hawaiian culture. We also went to the science building to learn about bees, lava, and wind. It was a great educational and fun visit.

The best museum on the islands! The buildings were beautiful and full of so much history. We loved all the artifacts, interactive displays, and knowledgeable staff. It’s a great place to walk around and revel in Hawaiian history. There’s also a fun science and dinosaur centers. Don’t forget to stop by the food center to get some truly amazing coffee and food too. Worth every penny!

I recently visited the Bishop Museum and was thoroughly impressed! The exhibits on Hawaiian history and culture were fascinating, and the staff were super friendly and knowledgeable. The planetarium shows were also a upcharge, but offering a unique perspective on the stars and navigation. My only suggestion would be to allow more time to explore the separate exhibits, as they were spread out across different buildings. Overall, a fantastic experience that I'd highly recommend to anyone interested in learning about Hawaiian culture and history.
Ben C — Google review
There are Kama’aina rates for the islanders, the waistline was not long. I recommend at least two hours prior to start browsing before closing time. The Planetarium, The Hawaiian Sky Tonight, is like a collage lecture, it is not a movie like I expected, if you’d like enjoy lecture experience it’s a good idea to go. Ticket purchase up the front with admission, and don’t forget the extra ticket to drop in the basket before entering. The show room is right on your right when you enter the museum, AC is nice. Dinosaur is available this year, it’s worth going, cute dinosaurs are really active.

Cannot recommend this museum highly enough! It was fascinating to learn about the history and heritage of the Hawaiian people. The building itself and the grounds are beautiful and there are numerous fascinating artifacts, from throughout Hawaiian history. It is worth getting tickets in advance, as there is a slight discount.

The Bishop Museum is a must-visit in Honolulu for anyone interested in Hawaiian culture, history, and natural sciences. The exhibits are impressive and well presented, from ancient Hawaiian artifacts and royal family treasures to fascinating displays about Polynesian navigation and volcanoes. The planetarium shows and interactive science exhibits make it especially engaging for families and kids. The museum is spacious, beautifully designed, and offers a deep insight into the heritage of Hawaii and the Pacific. A perfect balance of education and inspiration — highly recommended!

This museum is a must visit to get know the story of Hawaii. I visited the museum twice since I didn’t have enough time to see it all the first time I went. The building is beautiful and the display is extremely unique. They did a great job putting this together and keeping it in the shape it is today. I’m thankful I’m able to see it and show to our guests when they visit us on island. It is the first place I recommend them to visit. The museum also organizes dedicated events throughout the year, that are, in my opinion, extremely interesting. I try to miss out on them and take my family if we can. Also need to add that the planetarium was a surprise and would definitely recommend it.
Austin — Google review
Nice enough museum, but the exhibit “experiences” aren’t well maintained and there’s no one to ask for help. There’s a really cool feature in the Dinosaur exhibit where kids can color a dinosaur and have their coloring scanned so that it appears on a screen with other kids’ drawings. Super cool and definitely fun for kids… but there was no paper and not a single staff member to ask. Staff members at the front desk said it was the “exhibit’s responsibility.” Tried calling, but the touch tone (“press 5 for exhibits”) didn’t work. Pressed “0” for the operator and a security guard picked up and he said he’d “try calling someone.” So, again, it’s a nice museum but you’re left to “enjoy” it on your own and if you need any assistance, there’s no one to ask. For the price of the tickets, it would be nice if the staff expressed a little more interest in guest experience.

The Waikiki Aquarium, situated along the stunning shores of Waikiki in Honolulu, is a delightful destination for marine enthusiasts and families alike. Established in 1904, this charming aquarium is one of the oldest public facilities in the U.S., dedicated to showcasing the rich diversity of Hawaiian and tropical Pacific marine life.
Good and cozy place, though small enough. Looks like being maintained mostly by donations and volunteers. But overall it’s a great experience. You will find a lot to see about coral reefs life, jellyfishes and even reef and tiger shark there.

Waikiki Aquarium: A Mix of Old Charm and Marine Wonders The Waikiki Aquarium offers a fascinating glimpse into Hawaii's marine life, but it's a bit of a mixed bag. Parking is limited, though weekdays offer a better chance of snagging a spot. The outdoor exhibits are currently under renovation, which is a bummer, but the indoor displays are where the aquarium truly shines. The jellyfish are mesmerizing, and the grouper is a definite highlight. You'll also find plenty of other cool creatures to admire. The seahorses were especially amazing! However, the aquarium's age shows in some areas. Some of the signage and stickers feel a bit outdated. Still, if you're looking for a quick and easy way to see some amazing marine animals, and at a relatively cheap price, the Waikiki Aquarium is worth a visit.

Visited this aquarium on the way to Diamond Head monument. Not too expensive to get in. We paid on the door. Loads of aquatic tanks of various sizes - containing a variety of tropical and local fish. Some tanks seem a bit small for the fish - but plenty to see and some expansion is still going on (I believe). Had a couple of school visits on the day we visited. A couple of experts on hand to explain the fish and history of local aquatic life. If you’ve got time on your hands I’d suggest popping into here to kill a bit of time. The blue jellyfish tank is cool.
Sardev S — Google review
We were looking for an escape from the heat and this was not it. There was no AC in this place. We paid $12 a person but half of this place is closed. We were in and out in under an hour. Theres maybe five rooms tops with tanks on three walls each. Many of the tanks seem very small or overcrowded for what is being stored in there. Two of the seahorses we saw looked like they were dying (discolored and falling forward on their face in the sand). The outdoor exhibits were closed. I don't know what used to be there but from what we could see it was a small monk seal exhibit. It's says they are working on refurbishments but I'm not sure what all that entails. And given the space they are working with I can't imagine it will be that much bigger. I'm all for animal and sea/ocean conservation, but I feel like more should be available to justify charging people full price. Or at least let the crowds/people know that most exhibits aren't available.
Alexis B — Google review
Very cute and quaint gem, very cool to visit the second oldest aquarium in the US. It was small but definitely enough cool marine life to see. The outdoor area had the seal and some coral. Inexpensive!
Savannah K — Google review
The aquarium is very very small. Only one exhibit was open at the time due to construction. The outdoor exhibit doesn't have anything other than the Monk Seal, which luckily we were able to see. It was only $12 USD per adult. Probably spent 1 hour here, but could've been less if we didn't sit to enjoy the AC for a bit.
Karen K — Google review
The entry staff were friendly, but no other staff noted throughout aquarium. Many displays were not working, lighting not working at several displays. We saw a variety of tank fish, but all outdoor large animal areas were closed due to renovation.

Swim with Dolphins
Dolphin Quest offers an unforgettable interactive experience with dolphins in an enclosed lagoon, making it a top activity for families visiting Oahu. The Dolphin Encounter allows participants to swim, hug, kiss, play games with the dolphins and take pictures while learning about the importance of protecting these creatures. The program ensures the well-being of the dolphins by allowing them breaks and enforcing safety rules. Visitors can also enjoy watching the dolphins from the sea side grill area.
What an amazing experience this was for our family of 4. My 2 kids (age 10 and 8 at this time) thoroughly enjoyed the experience. I have been to a few dolphin encounters throughout Hawaii and I have to say this one has been the best one so far. There is a ton of hands on dolphin interaction time with several different dolphins. We love how our pictures came out too. Our guide was very knowledgeable and you can tell she was very passionate about her work with the dolphins and they were well taken care of. Definitely recommend ~

My cousin and I had such an amazing experience.. We had to opportunity to stay at The Kahala, the Kahala is where this Dolphin Quest is located.. While we were there we were able to observe the dolphins 24/7 and watch the trainers from start to finish… when on the “off” times. I have to say that the individuals that work with these dolphins truly love and respect the animals. The dolphins love the guests staying at the resort and love the Dolphin Quest employees. It is evident how happy the dolphins are.. We paid for the Experience and it is 100% worth the money.. We were able to interact and touch the dolphins.. Our trainer was Sara and she was so knowledgeable and you could tell how much Lono the dolphin loved her. I loved the fact that we were taught hand signals and sounds to interact with the dolphins.. After our encounter and late at night we were able to sit out on our lanai and interact with them using the tools Sara taught us.. Tara the photographer did an excellent job getting the perfect shot with our boy Lono.. One of the best experiences we have ever had. I personally enjoyed that during the day when the trainers were not with customers they were constantly cleaning the enclosure and playing with the animals.. I was also able to go down to the booth and chat with the employees and learn so much more.. I would give them 100 stars ⭐️ if possible. Great people and great program. Thank you all! We will be back.. Jessica and Nancy (Oregon)

No stars would be more appropriate. Why in the world do we still keep dolphins in captivity for human entertainment?! Especially in such a small area. Make a lazy river with some joy fish pond and will be more fun and beautiful look at. Enjoy dolphin watching from the beach or the boat.

Dolphin Quest was the best animal encounter we have done as a family. We had the opportunity to meet dolphins before in our home country, but we never had the opportunity to swim with them. The Dolphin Quest instructors and trainers were very friendly and welcoming. We spent so much time with the dolphins. Both my kids loved the chance to learn about and touch the dolphins. They even got to give them hugs and kisses and ask them to do tricks. We all loved it and if we come back to Hawaii we are definitely doing it again.

The staff at DQO were so incredibly kind and helpful. My son (9) hurt his foot the day before our reservations and could not go in the water, but they were able to make some adjustments and still get him close to the dolphins and keep him part of the experience. They provided both conservation information and education about the animals, and are very respectful of them as creatures - it was a great experience!

Life changing, epic, mind blowing, the things dreams are made of. This experience was so unique with small groups of 6 with your own guidance from a personal trainer and attention to detail. They set up photo shots without you even knowing they were taking them. The cost of 4 people for about 30 min was about $1,000.00 You will be in the lagoon with the dolphins, you will be able to pet the dolphins and yes they will even do tricks for you with your commands. Small price to pay for this exciting experience. 100% Happy …..

Incredible, once in a lifetime experience (at least in my opinion). You were able to directly interact with the dolphin(s) For just about your entire session. My session with somewhere between 25 and 30 minutes without interruption; the time in quality of the experience felt adequate for the money spent. Definitely get the photo package!

Kaʻena Point State Park is a remote coastal area located on the westernmost tip of Oahu, Hawaii. It offers scenic and rugged hiking trails along a lava shoreline, making it a must-see for nature lovers. The five-mile-long Kaena Point Trail provides stunning views of the Pacific Ocean, tide pools, and encounters with wildlife such as humpback whales, Hawaiian monk seals, and Albatross birds.
A beautiful park where you can hike along the rocky coastline of northwestern Oahu. There’s parking on the southwest entrance and the northeast entrance, but there’s no road between the two so the only way to reach the point is to walk. It’s a great hike, easy with virtually no elevation gain, but lots of great sites of the coast, mountains, and (if you’re lucky) wildlife. There’s a predator fence once you get about a half mile from the point, intended to keep out rats, cats, and other opportunists from getting to the nests of the shorebirds, which you’ll almost certainly see. Beyond that, there are some sand dunes and then rocky tide pools. There were a handful of kids and their parents swimming in them, so bring along swimming gear in case you want to cool off before your hike back!

Wow so amazing! If you could take the time to go there, definitely do! There's a gate to fence off mongoose so it's a bird sanctuary in there past the fence. So many different types of birds that aren't afraid of people. Albatross doing mating dance, baby albatross squeaking, etc. reminds me a lot of the Galapagos. The O'ahu west coastline was also visible at the pillbox. It's such a nice spot to sit and enjoy some snacks and the sunset. It's too bad that the sun set behind the clouds, but we got beautiful views of everything. We just soaked it all in. It's the most remote part of O'ahu and it's amazing. If you don't wanna walk all the way to the west, you can drive but you'll need to apply for a permit and have a vehicle with high clearance and decent tires. It's ok without a 4wd or awd if it's not raining. It's dry mud and lots of small to medium sized rocks. The path was mostly visible with tire tracks. But just in case it rains, and it can come down heavily, it's best to go with an awd or 4wd because you can get stuck in mud, and also skid from wet mud so drive slowly so the tires have good grip of the road. Doable to drive in rainy weather and in the dark too. I did it :-) Overall fun off-roading experience! However, driving back out can be tricky as there are multiple roads sometimes. Just make sure you hug the mountain when leaving. It's so worth the visit. It didn't feel like O'ahu at all. It's a special magical place on the most populated Hawaiian island. Aloha!

A pleasant walk down a 4x4 road past local fisherman surf casting and camping. The views of the coastline and mountains was great. Once at the point it was amazing to walk among the albatross chicks and peer into the tide pools. The neatest was being able to view the North and west shores of Oahu. Very beautiful.

Beautiful location for a walk, hike, fishing, sun bathing, monk seal or arvatross watching and many more seaside. Make sure to check out the coastal trail now open which places you closest to the water but no so close you have to be wary of the ocean taking you away. The breeze, the ocean smell and the wild life magical experience. Parking lot is free however there are no bathrooms or trash cans so take it and take it out please, garbage that is.

A nice walk/hike along the coastline. It's recommended to bring water and wear a hat. You should arrive early enough as its takes a few hours to complete if you like stopping at each marker. Wear hiking and comfortable shoes as there is mixed terrain (loose sand, compact sand, rocks). If you plan on getting into the water plan appropriately. There are no restrooms along the way.

Nice beach to visit. The birds are friendly here and the sunset views are great.

Nice 6 miles hike. It feels like the edge of the world there. If you have a friend who's a flat earther, bring them here to prove them wrong, lol

Island
O‘ahu, the third-largest island in Hawaii, is a vibrant destination brimming with vacation amenities and rich history. As the home of Honolulu and the iconic Pearl Harbor, it offers visitors a unique blend of culture and natural beauty. The windward side boasts lush vegetation due to its wetter climate, making it a picturesque area to explore. A drive from Waikiki to Kailua along the coastal highway reveals stunning sights that are not to be missed.
Overall a great island. This is the most balanced one out of all of the islands. It has the city for urban adventures and tons of hiking trails and beaches for nature lovers too. With the giant attractions like Pearl Harbor and the Dole Plantation, you can easily spend 5 days here and not be close to exploring the entire island. Fights here are the cheapest too because of the big airport. Lots of hotels and restaurants. If you come to Oahu, don’t forget to try surfing or snorkeling. Overall just a great place for vacation.

Visited in late June. Beautiful from the beaches to the mountains. Water was wonderful wherever we went (mostly windward coast). We rented a car and parking was a challenge at times but if you were patient it worked out. So many beautiful beaches and hikes. I would definitely recommend getting away from the tourist traps in the Waikiki area and exploring more of the island.

Very late post but I can’t ever get over how peaceful it was. I stayed in Honolulu but flying into o’ahu was absolutely beautiful. Love Love Love! July 2022

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5/5 – A True Paradise in the Pacific – Oahu, Hawaii Visiting Oahu was a breathtaking experience that truly captured the spirit of "Aloha." This island perfectly blends natural beauty, rich cultural heritage, and modern comforts. Whether you're an adventure seeker, beach lover, foodie, or history enthusiast, Oahu has something unforgettable to offer. 🏖️ Beaches: The beaches are absolutely world-class — from the calm turquoise waters of Lanikai Beach and family-friendly Kailua, to the vibrant waves of Waikiki and the massive surf breaks at the North Shore. Sunset Beach and Waimea Bay during winter are a must-see for surf lovers! 🏞️ Nature & Views: Hiking Diamond Head Crater offers stunning views of Honolulu and the Pacific Ocean. If you're into lush tropical landscapes, the Manoa Falls Trail and the Pali Lookout provide amazing scenery. Don’t miss the drive along the Windward Coast — it’s like something out of a movie. 🏯 Culture & History: Pearl Harbor is a deeply moving experience that gives insight into a pivotal moment in world history. Iolani Palace and the Bishop Museum provide a deeper understanding of Hawaiian royalty and native culture. 🍽️ Food: Oahu is a foodie's paradise. From local plate lunches and poke bowls to food trucks on the North Shore (like Giovanni’s Shrimp Truck), everything is fresh and full of flavor. Don’t leave without trying malasadas from Leonard’s Bakery and shaved ice from Matsumoto’s. 🛍️ Shopping & Nightlife: Honolulu offers great shopping — Ala Moana Center is huge — and a lively nightlife scene. Waikiki is full of energy, live music, and beachfront bars, but still feels safe and welcoming. 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Family & Safety: Very family-friendly with plenty of public facilities, clean beaches, and helpful locals. The island feels safe even in the busy areas. 🚗 Getting Around: Public transport (TheBus) is reliable, but renting a car gives you the freedom to explore more remote areas. Traffic in Honolulu can get busy during peak hours, but nothing unmanageable. 🌅 Final Thoughts: Oahu is more than just a vacation spot — it’s an experience that stays in your heart. The warm people, the diverse landscapes, and the deep cultural roots make it an island unlike any other. Would I return? Absolutely — in a heartbeat. #Oahu #HawaiiTravel #AlohaSpirit #ParadiseOnEarth #TravelReview

Tons of things to do on this relatively small island; there’s a wide diversity activity for many different interests. It’s expensive, but you will get some amazing scenery!

From above, it looks like a lost world — but this green crater carved into the cliffs is very real. Welcome to Diamond Head, or Lēʻahi, the giant 500,000-year-old tuff cone standing tall in Oʻahu like a scar from Earth's fiery past. 🌋 One eruption. One crater. A half-million years of silence... and now? It’s a place where tourists hike, history lives, and the view is out of this world. Nature doesn’t just create — sometimes it engraves a memory right into the planet.

There's a good reason why Hawaii and specifically Oahu is the most vacationed to location in the world. The weather's always perfect beaches are perfect, foods amazing, and wait till you get out of Waikiki the island is truly beautiful from every angle. Just respect the locals and they'll respect you back. Time to get your vacation on, Mahalo for reading.

This is the island I live on. It has the capital Honolulu. Waikiki Beach downtown is the place to party and enjoy nightlife. The west side (not counting the Disney resort area) tends to be a bit slummy but the beaches are less crowded. The resorts over there are extremely nice but they are separated from the island and it feels fake like Disneyland. The north Shore is pretty chill but it can also be a bit of a tourist trap. That's where I would go if I was a surfer and wanted to mix touristy with watersports. The east side is my favorite part. It is way green compared to the other parts of the island and the beaches are great! After the beach you can pop into the smaller towns and eat good food in a more relaxed yet nice area. You can typically get anywhere on the island in 1 or 2 hours traffic depending. Around Honolulu and the rim loop traffic can get atrocious!!! Be mindful of City traffic in town and tourists that are looking at the GPS instead of the road in the north shore area for example. And be prepared to pay for everything AND TIP! This is one of the most expensive places in the US. I don't care what a gallon of milk costs in Nebraska Everything costs more here! Enjoy your stay but know that people live here too.
