Blue Moon Beach Grill is a cozy restaurant in Nags Head, North Carolina that offers a unique dining experience with its nautical theme and original artwork. The restaurant prides itself on hospitality, affordability, and creative seafood dishes. Diners are the top priority at Blue Moon, as the staff ensures that those dining in have a pleasant experience without long waits.
There are many dining options in the Outer Banks area. This one stood out as we thoroughly enjoyed the dishes offered! They have a diverse menu, from land and sea to handhelds. The pricing does reflect that of higher end, but it's backed up with the well prepared entrees and presentation. Dining area give a casual and relaxed vibe. Staff was very friendly and attentive. Try visiting early, as peak hours tends to get fairly busy, and may have to wait awhile to get a table. Perfect place to dine for a special occasion, or just enjoy a flavorful meal.

The best food we have had in the Outer Banks. My husband and I were in town for a week, so it was convenient that we could snag seats at the bar. It was lively, but not distracting. The bartender (Alex) was great! Mussels - 10/10 Crab and Pimento Cheese Dip - 8/10 Beef Bulgogi (special) - 10/10 Crab cake - 8/10 ( wish it would have had more of a crust) Spinach and Arugula salad with Shrimp - 10/10 Will go back here every single time we visit the Outer Banks.

Courtney our waitress was excellent! As well as the food. Was the best seafood dinner we have ever had! And that is no exaggeration...😎🎉☄️⛱️👍 We loved every bite and the mussels were amazing! Can't wait to come again! Everyone needs some Blue Moon more than once in a lifetime, Billy Myers

Everyday we drove by lunch time or dinner time, the parking lot was packed. We decided to visit for lunch. The fried calamari was very good & different, served with a lemon butter sauce underneath the crispy calamari. The oyster Rockefeller was also very good with large fresh oysters & fresh spinach covered with breadcrumbs, cheese & sauce. My salad with blackened shrimps was so good. I would order it again. Wife ordered the swordfish & grits with collard greens. Grits were on the sweet side with the Cajun honey sauce. Greens were cooked perfectly. 2 thumbs up!

Bit on the loud side but, it was Saturday lunch/dinner time. Wait was 45 minutes so, we opted to go to the bar instead, where there was no wait to be seated. Were served by the bartender, who was very friendly and efficient. Food was great, portions good but, price was bit on high side. Being that they're basically in a touristy town, we weren't surprised. I got fish & chips, wife got a salad and we both shared Oysters Rockefeller and had diet cokes, since we don't drink alcohol. Food arrived warm, oysters first then our dinners. Totaled @$50 with tip @$6

Our second visit in 2 days! Excellent food, great service! Our server, Jamie did an outstanding job with our large dinner party! Thanks for a memorable meal!!

Our second year visiting the new location... Great yard and patio/deck and very accommodating of our hounds! They'll even do a pup-burger or a chicken breast for your doggos. Excellent food and attentive service, be sure to check the specials (Wahoo Mac!) and don't miss the Mahi-BLT!
Bil S — Google review
Walked in and was told it was a 2-2.5 hour wait ... that was a first. We decided to hang out around the bar and wait for somebody to leave. After about a 30 minute wait, our patience was rewarded. We ordered at the bar and decided to go with three appetizers and split a main course. The brussel sprouts were just delicious. There was a heaping portion and they were cooked perfectly. The Buffalo Shrimp were big and tasty ... I would have preferred a little more heat, but they were tasty. The Oysters Rockefeller were also, very good! We split the Seaside Bucatini. It had scallops, shrimp, artichokes, and grilled tomatoes in a pesto sauce. Really, really good! I think they could figure out a better system for seating, but its a tourist town. You can expect long waits. Can't wait to return to the Blue Moon Beach Grill!

Basnight's Lone Cedar Cafe is a waterfront restaurant and bar that takes pride in serving locally caught seafood and offering an ample selection of beer and wine. The cafe is known for its commitment to sustainability, sourcing fresh fish, crabs, clams, and oysters from local fishing traditions. They clean all seafood on-site and select vegetables from nearby farms.
Very nice restaurant between Manteo and the barrier island. The place is loud. So, sit accordingly. They have a garden outside that helps with their meals. Check it out. Great views. Our server was Emma and she was fantastic. The food is good. Plenty of local seafood. You can bring in your own catch and they will prepare that for you as well.

My family and I came to OBX for a holiday weekend. We were so excited to eat here after specifically looking for locally owned restaurants with fresh caught fish, and reading about the restaurant and family on the website. First, let me clarify since I’ve seen this brought up in replies by the restaurant: my husband and I love nothing better than fresh caught seafood, and have eaten everywhere from Venice, to Hawaii, to St Lucia, including countless times on the southeast coast of the US. We are not “unaccustomed” to fresh fish’s flavor as the owner suggests on other reviews. The website advertises panoramic views and their outdoor area, and while I may have been confused, it was definitely misleading when we arrived to discover there were no outdoor tables. Still, we figured the food would be good and fresh. We were eating with our 18 month old son with special needs. We had to ask for a high chair for him 3x. We had to ask for a straw for him 2x. I am 3 years sober, and was happy to have found a single mocktail on their lmenu, but when I asked about an unknown ingredient, the waiter told me, “yeah I wouldn’t know” and walked away. We were brought our meals pretty quickly, which was nice, but in my husband’s words, “It looks like it came from a retirement home cafeteria” (pics attached). We both ordered off of the fresh Saturday specials menu (that they posted on their social media that day); mine was yellowtail served with scalloped potatoes and squash and his was tilefish on top of grits…except they weren’t. I was served a gray, watery, undercooked tuna steak with mashed sweet potatoes and sliced pickles and onions sitting in a bowl of vinegar. I didn’t know what my husband ordered, so I asked him if his soup was good, only to discover it wasn’t soup (check the picture). I asked the waiter, “wasn’t this supposed to come with scalloped potatoes?” He said, “I don’t know, did you read the description?” I didn’t have the menu still, so I said nevermind, but when checking it later on their social media, I saw I was right. My husband managed to stomach some bites of his food, and my toddler ravenously ate their fries; I didn’t eat anything. As soon as we got back to our hotel 30 minutes away, my perfectly healthy husband and son had explosive diarrhea. I have IBS and felt perfectly fine, so I guess you can decide for yourself what variables contributed to that. I had hoped for genuine care for the food and location like I’ve experienced at other family owned restaurants, instead we visited a tourist trap that makes garbage fodder. Maybe their fish was fresh caught at one point, but certainly not by the time that it made it to our plates.

Great food. Their flounder was very good. Enjoyed them being open and not packed as others were waiting to get in. Wanted a good seafood place. My kids had chicken of course. Our waiter was overwhelmed some and couldn’t find him when we needed him. That’s why I gave low stars for service. Good and atmosphere was great and even have a little shop inside. Would recommend going.

My family and I were enjoying coffee at Charis Coffee in Manteo while deciding on a place to grab dinner. I asked the local barista where to go and without hesitation he said, "Cedar Cafe". He told us that they had the best chef in the area and served fresh local food which piqued our interest for sure. Another Barista rattled off a few other places that she had to think for a while to list but the gentleman gave solid reasons why not to go to them. So we excitedly went to Basnight's Cedar Cafe. The restaurant was spacious allowing us to have easy conversation. The windows on both sides of the restaurant were viewable from our table and the views were beautiful. Our server was excellent. She was born and raised in the area and had wonderful things to say. When I asked her what she would eat if she were sitting down for dinner, she offered two suggestions without hesitation and I ordered one. The Snowy Grouper was fantastic, the sides were also phenomenal! I loved that they told us who caught the fish that day in the menu. Everyone enjoyed their meal. When we left, we noticed their pesticide free vegetable garden where they grow their own produce to use in their dishes. It doesn't get fresher than that! We look forward to our next visit for sure.

After waiting for only 30 minutes, which is nothing here at the OBX, we were seated at a table by a window. We were greeted by a nice server, but felt rushed to make decisions on what to order. I had a question between two things on the menu, she recommended the entree that was a special (rockfish topped with a crab sauce). The meal was tasteless. My baked potato was not quite baked long enough, and the fish was cooked very well but just was nothing special at all…hardly something I would recommend to someone. The jerk swordfish was good, but the one an only meal we would return for was the shrimp and grits…which I normally don’t care for (consistency thing for me). But they were very good and a large portion of meat. I think we just had an off night because this place came highly recommended by friends. We may try it again some time in the future but not any time soon, with all the other options.

Fantastic place to eat! Menu was vast and offered really good specials. I had the Flounder stuffed with crab imperial. Food was incredible. Menu even shows the name of the fisherman who caught the fish. Live music was great touch to the bar area. Must visit, but visit early. They open around 4pm

My husband and 12 year old son took a charter this morning and caught their dinner. After calling around for hours we finally found this establishment that would cook their catch. Colton walked in bouncing with joy wearing a smile from ear to ear with his fish in hand. Carolyn recognized him immediately and made a big deal about him catching his own dinner. She went out of her way to share his excitement throughout the restaurant! Then we met Jeff and Stacy (server in training) who continued to share the excitement of Colton’s accomplishments with the fish. The food was delicious, the service was impeccable, but the way they made our child feel on top of the world was above and beyond anything we ever expected! We will be back on our trip next year! Highly recommend this restaurant!!!!

Sam & Omie's is a beloved seafood restaurant in Nags Head, with a rich history dating back to the 1930s. Originally a breakfast spot for local fishermen, it has evolved into a top dining destination. The menu features an array of seafood delights such as shrimp burgers, crab cakes, fresh sea scallops, and grilled marinated tuna steak sandwiches.
There's always a reason for places to be open for a long time... This place does exemplify that statement. Super fresh seafood, great and friendly staff, minimal waiting time and great food. We loved the scallops, fish and the fried calamari!!! Loved this place and we will be back whenever we are back around.

Great long time local spot! Food is delicious. The seafood tastes like it came straight out of the ocean. Portions are large. Service is excellent as well. This place just has an old school laid back vibe to it. Definitely worth a visit!

Since we were staying right down the street from this restaurant, we decided to walk there for dinner. We were glad we decided to walk since the parking lot was full. The majority of our party got seafood entrees, which everyone enjoyed. We also tried the chicken and burger both were good. We did not care for the seasoning on the green beans but everything else was good. Connie was our server and she was extremely friendly. We had a great time talking to her. We also tried the restaurant for breakfast. The food was tasty but not piping hot. The biscuits were delicious. We went early and it did get extremely crowded while we were there.

If you’re looking for upscale, fine dining, this may not be your place. However if you’re looking for good, down-home seafood dinner, Sam & Omie’s is a must visit. The interior and tables give the place a rustic feel, matching its storied history on Nags Head. We stopped in for dinner around 7pm on a Saturday. No wait and we were seated straight away. It was our server’s second day, a fact we never would have known had she not dropped it on casual conversation. Service was great! I had the crab dip for an appetizer and broiled crab cakes with collard greens and black beans and rice for my entree. Both were excellent, though the crab cakes felt a bit on the small side with heavily shredded crab meat whereas I often prefer slightly larger chunks or crab meat in a crab cake. Collards were great, well cooked but not obscenely mushy. This is always our first stop when we arrive in Nags Head, and probably won’t be our last stop this trip!

Very casual and great food! Staff was friendly and the manager lady said "later tater tot" after I got my late night to go order lol😆She was funny, I liked her. 🙂Don't ask for to go orders when busy or late night! LoL just kidding. I'm 1 for 2 on that but she obliged😊 Sitting by the window and looking at the pier is a pleasant view. I had the broiled Flounder dinner to go late-night, which was cooked perfect! Green beans seasoned just right, corn bread light n fluffy. Came back for the soup and flounder sandwich, which was a yummy mid day treat. I got a flat tire right as I pulled out the parking lot onto the main road, so I'm glad I enjoyed a nice lunch 1st! If you like to stroll the pier, add Sam & Omies to your routine when you're "down that way." 🙂🍤🥣🐟🍔🍰 It's a good place to stop in, Good folks, Good food! 👍😎🌊 Coming back next trip down. Reminded me of small town Florida restaurant. Glad they have been a long time staple where the road forks 🍴 A good reason to stop in. Turn Left? Turn right? 🛑Stop at Sam&Omies!🙂

Totally packed for dinner. Hardly any seating for couples. Mostly a family(4+) dining area unless you sit at the bar, which would've been fine if they put subtitles on the TV so you'd know what was going on, which was kinda frustrating, cause it was an episode of Big Bang Theory. Had the grilled marinated tuna dinner with mashed potatoes and green beans, cornbread and an extra cup of crab soup. Tune was bland, and tasted as if it wasn't marinated at all, or with very weak ingredients. Green beans tasted like they were from a can. Crab in crab soup was imitation crab. For $8 a cup you'd think they'd use real crab. Cornbread wasnt cornbread. It was fluffy like a cake and tasted like the Jiffy box you buy in the store. I was surprised with how fast the food came out because I suspect they rely heavily on a microwave to do most of the cooking. Not accusing anyone of anything but the food came out very fast for how busy it was.

Don't let anyone fool you, Sam and Omie's is a true authentic Nags Head Seafood Dinner with excellent and reasonably priced meals. They have been around since the late 30's and takes one back to a more friendly peaceful time. We love the OBC, and love the casual beach feel. We stop here at least once a trip because it is a taste of memories gone by. Which we cherish. The wait staff is always friendly and attentive. The foods served are excellent and the price is right. We've never had a long wait to be served. But during peak times, obviously you can expect a bit of a wait to get seated. They serve fresh seafood. The shrimp pops when you bite into it. The Fish cooked to perfection and always a good variety of seafood offered. The crab cakes are huge and the portions are generous. The large house salad with fried shrimp is my favorite while my husband enjoys the fresh tuna steaks. The coleslaw slaw and cornbread are just as good. If you enjoy desserts, the desserts are made fresh by a local baker. They are equally delicious. We hope that Sam and Omie's never remodel as we love looking at the fishing photos and walking on the plank floors. Enjoy!

Miller's Waterfront Restaurant is a charming dining spot located in Nags Head, offering stunning views of the Roanoke Sound. Specializing in traditional seafood dishes like flounder, scallops, shrimp, oysters, and crab cakes sourced from the Outer Banks waters. The restaurant provides a casual dining atmosphere where patrons can enjoy fish sandwiches, fried baskets, fish tacos as well as burgers and salads for lunch.
All-time favorite restaurant on our visit to the Outer Banks. Our server was incredible, was very well versed on the specials, and the contents of this amazing menu. The appetizers especially the brussel sprouts were great. I personally loved the red peppers that they had in them, they still had enough crunch while still being cooked perfectly. Each of us ordered a different dish and shared amongst ourselves so we all got to taste a bit of everything. I'd recommend the shrimp and grits, the seafood trio, I believe it was called the cart but don't quote me, as I loved the scallops and the crab cake and even though the shrimp wasn't my favorite part of the dish, it was still excellent. The drinks were really good here. We sat and ate downstairs but they also have a beautiful upstairs bar that overlooks the water. It's a gorgeous location and the people that run both the front and back of house are truly wonderful human beings whose skills and hospitality go unmatched . Thank you again for having us and we can't wait to come back and see you again!

This is a beautiful restaurant on the water. We waited about 30 minutes to get seated which was not bad. We ordered drinks at the bar and they were delicious. We ordered hush puppies for an appetizer and they tasted hard and stale with a freezer taste to them. We ordered the crab cake sandwich and chicken dish and the crab cake sandwich was delicious while the chicken was a bit dry. Overall we enjoyed our experience here.

I can see why Miller’s Waterfront Restaurant is such a local favorite! Excellent food, great service, and a beautiful setting. We arrived just in time to watch the sunset over the sound, which made the evening even better. The she-crab soup was incredible, rich and flavorful. The Miller’s house salad was just to my taste: fresh greens with fruit, dried cranberries, walnuts, feta, and a raspberry vinaigrette. I ordered the Trawl Boat dish, which was perfect for sampling: a crab cake, four large scallops, and six shrimp, all cooked to perfection, with mashed red potatoes and mixed squash on the side. My husband loved his scallops (a generous dozen), perfectly broiled. Service was friendly and efficient, and the whole experience felt relaxed and genuine. Highly recommend!

Wow! Love this place!! The atmosphere, especially with the outdoor seating overlooking the sound or upstairs open bar offer fantastic views. The food is also excellent whether you're grabbing lunch or a nice dinner, there are a lot of items to choose from. The staff are friendly, courteous and professional. I highly recommend stopping in for a bite!!

Food was amazing!!! Had the tuna nachos and tempura green beans for appetizers, both were so good. My husband got the mahi caprese sandwich, I had the filet mignon sliders. We loved both our meals and would recommend the filet sliders for a more filling option and the mahi sandwich for a lighter option but both were phenomenal. Our waitresss was so nice and the view can't be beat!

We dined here on our annual group trip. It was a large party of 24 people. The staff and management took very good care of us. Amazing service and delicious food and the sunset view was the cherry on top. We all enjoyed this place and will visit again the next time we are in town. You truly have some new fans Iin Raleigh, NC 🔥💯🔥💯

Little overrated for quality of food. Excellent location. Limited parking lot for size of restaurant. We had to wait a little to get seated. While waiting you can enjoy outdoor patio with live music and good views. We went there for dinner and it was weekend so it was busy. Food however is mediocre. Masa fried soft shell crab was good but everything else had no flavors. Felt like eating over fried food. I am guessing same oil was used over and over. There are much better options in outer banks for good food.

Sugar Creek Seafood Restaurant is a charming establishment located over the water, offering a delectable selection of fried or broiled fish, shrimp, and crab dishes. The restaurant's proximity to Roanoke Sound provides a picturesque setting where guests can enjoy the company of birds and ducks while savoring their meals. With friendly staff and an inviting atmosphere, it's an ideal spot for family dining.
After driving by this place for years, we finally decided to try it out this trip and we are kicking ourselves for not coming sooner. The food was, hands on, the best meal we have had in Nags Head across multiple years of trips. Food - amazing, service - amazing, view - amazing.

We stopped here for dinner on our way through Nags Head. For a crowded area the wait was only about 20 minutes which was great. Several other places in the area had an hour or more wait time. That should’ve been a warning. Our waitress was extremely scattered and forgot about us a few times. Which is understandable if she had more than one table in more than one section? The crab dip our kids ordered wasn’t great and they didn’t finish it. Normally, it’s gone within minutes. The broiled seafood platter I ordered… the seasoning needed to be a little more intense because it was lacking and the shrimp, because it was buried under everything else had zero seasoning. One teen ordered the surf and turf and wasn’t impressed. Another ordered the blackened chicken pasta and said it was okay. My husband ordered the same thing I did and we had the same thoughts. I’m not sure if this would be a place we would choose again.
Amber M — Google review
We had a mixed experience here - food okay overall and poor service. We got the hush puppies to start. Their form factor is abnormal in a great way - long and skinny instead of round increased the surface area and made for a great starter. Ths free corn bread was good too. For entrees we got the fried soft sell crab and fried clam strips. The crab was both fishy and bland - not worth the price of crab. The clam strips were good but not outstanding - nothing wrong with them just unremarkable. For sides we got fries and a baked pots for. The fried were good - pretty basic french fries. The baked potato was entirely boring but that's find for a baked potato in my opinion. Our server was pretty horrible. She dissapeared for really long periods of time, and we were done eating waiting for a bill for way too long. The restaraunt wasn't packed, so she wasn't just busy - and it wasn't just on one occasion that it was slow, it was our entire visit.

We arrived to a packed lobby and we shopped in the gift shop until our table was ready (20-25 minutes). When we got to our table our waitress was incredibly efficient. We ordered calamari and it was cooked to perfection! I did enjoy my teriyaki tuna but it needed just a bit more seasoning.

All fried, no green tomatoes. We had a lovely takeout dinner from here, friendly staff and delicious food, but the fried green tomatoes were bereft of tomato. See pics attached - a paper-thin layer of tomato enveloped in a thick, chewy dough. Very weird. Will up to 5 stars if I get a response from the restaurant.

They’re either understaffed or don’t know how to run a restaurant. Took 40 mins to get food order and close to a hour for just refills. Food came out mediocre at best. Chicken stir fry had so much sauce couldn’t taste anything but a salty mess. Waiter seemed to have vanished at different points throughout the night. Poor management and rude owner. Place does not deserve to have a full parking lot and a long wait. Cheese burger was still mooing even though it was ordered as well done. Overpriced junk

This is our favorite place to eat! Salmon is fantastic, the crab cake is the best I’ve ever had. Shrimp and scallops are my husbands favorite. And the cornbread is the best. Everything is incredible!

Additionally, it boasts a beach volleyball court in the backyard where visitors can join competitive-level games during the summer.
We will definitely eat here again. The coco loco chicken was delicious, juicy, and tender. Fish tacos did not disappoint. Many large chunks of mahi in each taco. The black beans were cooked perfectly. We weren't terribly impressed with the white pizza sampler, but the rest of the meal made up for it. We usually take some food home for later, but everyone cleaned their plates. We bought a round for the kitchen!

We got there as they opened as we were the first ones there and the line was long to get in so I’m glad we got there early. Shout out to our server Holly, who took good care of us. I highly recommend the steamed clams and the clear broth clam chowder was fantastic. Will definitely be back.

Great food, great service, great atmosphere. These guys went above and beyond they had no way of knowing we had just arrived from Charlotte, and they were probably close to closing. But they still served our table friday night. The food was delicious. the best crab cakes i've had in a very long time, and our waiter was sweet and very hardworking! If you want good vibe and great food, I definitely recommend this place. 👌
Bianca V — Google review
We stopped here mainly due to its featured Caribbean islands flavored cuisine. Many different handheld sandwiches are also offered as well. Although the Jerked dishes were nicely done, we felt that the Jerked sauce/spice used lacked heat/spiciness, like it's missing the "It" factor. The staff was friendly and helpful. The interior decor was mainly island themed. You can choose to dine in either indoor or outdoor settings. So if you haven't had a chance to try out Caribbean cuisine, this may be a good place to start.

Our favorite Outer Banks restaurant! Have been coming for three summers and it’s delicious every time. Great vibe, great food, great drinks. We have had the Painkiller and Lost Tortugas for drinks, quinoa salad and Swiss jerk burger. Everything tastes good, food comes out fast, the restaurant has fish tanks the kids love watching the fish swim around. Highly recommend - note it can be a long wait at times so plan your timing accordingly

Great bartenders who were friendly and nice to talk to; beautiful artwork- we took photos! The food looked so good but we were just in for happy hour. Definitely recommend!

I looked up gluten free restaurants in the area, and discovered this restaurant. When we arrived it looked packed from the outside, but was pleased to discover that we got a seat quickly. The atmosphere was fun and friendly. The staff was extremely helpful and our server was very knowledgeable about gluten free choices. Our food was delicious. We would definitely dine here again when we are in the area.

We arrived around 8:00 on a Thursdsy night. We put our name in for first available seats at the bar or a table. Meanwhile we had a drink at the timing bar in back. There was live music, which was nice. We ended up at the end of the bar next to the merch. It was pretty hectic, but I said first available. My partner ordered the special which was blackened tuna with goat cheese and pineapple salsa. It was perfectly cooked medium rare and was delicious. I went simple and ordered a bacon cheeseburger with extra crispy fries. The burger was juicy and flavorful and my fries were exactly what I wanted ... super crispy and salty! Tortugas Lie was an excellent choice. Kind of a beach dive bar with great food! I will be back!!!

Located between Jockeys Ridge and Historic Cottage Row, it offers incredible views and a beachfront deck. Known for its best burgers on the beach, the restaurant now focuses on local seafood prepared in an authentic Outer Banks style using fresh, local ingredients.
Where to start. Overall, it was a fantastic experience. Great food, wonderful service, and fun atmosphere. A friend and I were visiting and ate here two nights in a row to try out their menu. Highly recommend their crab balls with the spicy tartar sauce. Our server Sara was super kind and extremely helpful. Our puppies enjoyed themselves, too, with their unique menu for dogs. Definitely will be coming back to enjoy more.

Love the outdoor upper bar seating! It has great views of the ocean! Food was good, service was great! The bar tender made me a Cat 5 drink off the old menu and it was glorious!! Will definitely be one of our stops each trip!

Dog friendly and amazing food. They had gluten free options for me and a menu for our pup. Her chicken and rice was served on a frisbee she gets to take home. The Mulligan burger was amazing and the obx crush. So good! Service was amazing! Joe and Denise are wonderful. We had such a great time. Will be back when we are in the area!

We had the Creole Shrimp & Grits and the Mulligan Burger. The Creole Shrimp & Grits was amazing (my wife couldn't stop raving). The burger was very good. It didn't stand out to me in any particular way but it was very solid. Our waitress was very helpful and friendly, great service!

We came here for the dog menue and were so pleasantly surprised. The pups were truly welcome on the upper deck. Given bowls of water and of course we ordered off the pup menu 🥰. There were so many dogs we loved it.

Mulligan‘s was a great place for dinner with my family for our final night in the Outer Banks in Nags Head. Our waitress was very attentive. We got to sit on an outside upper deck patio and we had views of the ocean and a nice breeze. I had a cocktail called the painkiller and it was awesome. I ordered the coastal Carolina shrimp and grits which came with shrimp and andouille sausage. My meal was cooked well and it tasted so good. It was my first time having grits and I approve the meal was more than I could eat in one sitting and I definitely had leftovers to take home for later

Ate here last with a family group of 9. Got there about 5:15 and didn't have to wait long but sat at two tables next to each other on the upstairs patio which we actually preferred. Waitress was attentive and pleasant. Most of the food was delicious-my dad said his side fries weren't warm enough but besides that everything was delish. Everyone was very happy with this restaurant choice. Tiki bar on the 2nd floor that is pet friendly as well.
Sara S — Google review
Really cute restaurant with very friendly staff! The food has slight issues, but it was decent if you’re looking for a place to eat. We got the fish and chips and the tuna bites as an appetizer. The fish that came with the fish and chips was delicious and the portions were very generous. The fries however were extremely chewy and stale. The hush puppies that came with the meal were very good. The Tuna bites however were almost completely raw in the center. I know some people prefer tuna a little on the undercooked side, but these were just completely raw and cold. Overall, not a bad place to stop if you’re in the area.

Beautiful waterfront location, music on the backdeck and a 1 hr wait ( tell ya anything) the hostess offered bar seating since it was already 6:30....we accepted. Lucy the bartender/server was great. They offer a version of a mini meal but I still had 9 fried shrimp. Fried, not greasy, hush puppies and fries. Hubby had a pasta dish in a cream sauce, both were very good. It was a good stop for our first night and we darted across the highway to catch the sunset. No tall tales here...just good food

We had the most wonderful server, I believe her name was Susan. She put up with our crazy (and polite) party. The food was absolutely sublime. You did have to wait a bit but the view was great so we didn’t mind it. If you love crab dip, I highly recommend.

I went here with my wife. Everything was excellent. We were told a 30 min wait which only turned out to be 10. Beautiful waiting area outside in the back with a bar. Food came out very fast which I wondered if it would affect the quality. It did not disappoint. Everything was great. The service was great. Our waitress was great. This very well may have become my favorite restaurant of all time. We were planning to go back probably tomorrow evening. I can’t say enough about this place. It’s a beautiful restaurant. They also seem to have one of the best systems for handling large crowds and getting folks seated and getting their food that I’ve ever seen

Was told an hour wait, got in within 5 minutes. Got a lovely booth with a great view of the water. Our waitress was absolutely amazing, super attentive and kind to our family. The food was incredible, the seafood tasted fresh and the crab cakes were some of the best I've had. Highly recommend!

What an amazing restaurant! Go early as there are high wait times because it is THAT good! The nice thing is if there is a wait there’s an outdoor bar and pier with seating and live music. The surf and turf was unbelievable and was on special for such a great deal! The lobster bisque and she crab soup were also delicious. Staff was extremely friendly!

10/10 food, ambiance, service, EVERYTHING!! Two of us dined here Wednesday 5/28 around 7:30 pm. We walked in & were sat immediately & with a phenomenal view of the water. This was our first time here and we were very impressed right off the bat. Our server (Tyler I believe) was very professional and explained everything thoroughly. Our two drinks were delicious (Orange crush & mango hurricane), and my she crab soup was one of the best I’ve ever had. We both appreciated all the variety and flexibility with the menu. Our entrees were wonderful and the desserts were divineeeeee. Tyler didn’t let our glasses get below half way, and was checking on us the perfect amount. I will recommend this restaurant to many people! Can’t wait to come back.

Delicious food and waitress was friendly and attentive. Restaurant is right on the water with fishing pier out back. You can dress however you want here, dress up or casual, and you'll fit in. Sometimes can be long lines to get in, but well worth the wait. The building itself could use a refresher, but I also feel like a great seafood place looks like this place though too.

Lucky 12 Tavern, established in 2006, has become a beloved spot for both locals and visitors. Situated near the beautiful Atlantic Ocean in Nags Head, North Carolina, this retro-funky bar offers a diverse menu featuring local seafood, hand-pattied burgers, Philly cheesesteaks, New York-style pizza, creative salads, and delectable wings. Additionally, patrons can enjoy boardwalk fries and a dedicated kids' menu.
This place was fantastic! A group of five descended on this establishment on a weeknight. We were seated immediately. The server was prompt and efficient. They provided us with well thought out recommendations. The Seafood Chowder was outstanding. They also had a very good selection of Bourbon Whisky and several well selected beers on tap. After a pleasant night of eating and drinking, we decided to order take out pizza from a second night. Again everything was well done. NY style pizza with a crispy crust and excellent distribution of toppings. The 'El Supremo' and Four Cheese with added pepperoni and black olives was very good. Finally, the have three very nice pinball machines tucked in a back room. It has been quite a while since I have seen pinball machines in this fine a shape and only charging $0.75 per play.

This was our second time eating here. This time we decided to get their pizza and so glad we did! I'm from NY and used to having some really good pizza but this place wowed me. It was so delicious!!!! The 16" pizza has 8 big slices, enough for 3 people. My pics show the bar side but they also have a dining room. We will def be back when in the area next time.

We came in on a Monday around lunchtime and were able to get a table right away. The gentleman at the front was friendly. The service was great. The food came out quick. The bacon cheeseburger was good you could tell they used fresh ground beef. The fish and chips were good, too. Fish was lightly breaded with a golden tint. The hand cut French fries were yummy. All in all, good restaurant is worth a try.

Always a regular stop at some point during our vacations at OBX. I ALWAYS get this Seafood Bisque as my app, and an Oyster Po' Boy Sandwich as my entree (subbed slaw for handcut fries - both are great!). Never disappoints!!!

The place was slam full but service didn't slack at all. Food came out quickly and it was hot. I snagged a beer with my wings and that came out fast and was cold. I have no complaints at all. EVEN BETTER the 8 piece wing would have been a 16 piece anywhere else. Definitely recommend this place.

Always amazing! We visited Dirty Dicks in Panama City recently as well. This place is always amazing, but somehow the food here was even better! I got the shrimp and grits and it was incredible! Great service! The chef (Katie) came by to check and make sure that everything was good. I asked for her name because she did such an amazing job. We've come here several times and this visit they outside themselves! Our server (Sheri) made sure our visit was enjoyable. We came by a second time before we left and got the buffalo shrimp. OMG! I really enjoyed this place! I have been wanting to come here for years and finally got the chance. It didn't disappoint. The food, service and atmosphere was outstanding. I only have positive things to say. I will definitely return!
Paul V — Google review
The atmosphere was fun and the service was good, but the food was a real disappointment. My husband’s first bite of his she-crab soup had a piece of shell in it, which set the tone for the meal. The house and Caesar salads were adequate, nothing special. I ordered the trio of shrimp, scallops, and lump crab meat. The shrimp and crab were nicely cooked, but the scallops were almost raw. Apparently, that’s just how they serve them, because my husband’s fried scallops and clams were also barely cooked, with a slimy texture. Portions are huge, which would normally be OK, but when you’re traveling, you can’t really take leftovers with you, and it’s a shame to waste that much food. Overall, we wouldn’t eat here again. There are plenty of better choices in the area for a similar price.
Veronique E — Google review
No wait to be seated and the staff was super friendly and quick. Food was good and the hush puppies were super savory (especially with the butter). Price wise for what they had to offer was a bit over my budget for lunch, but they had lots of options seafood wise. I'd love for some local caught seafood, but what we ate, didn't feel freshly caught nor local. Would we come back? I can say, Yes! Our server was super friendly and helped my kids decide what they wanted to eat.

My husband and I were truly impressed with our dining experience here! Our server was fantastic; extremely polite and attentive, and the steamed seafood platter we enjoyed was super fresh and cooked perfectly. To our surprise, the Caesar and Sangria were some of the most well-prepared cocktails we've had as well. The only thing we were upset by is that we couldn't bring our leftovers (and there were lots!) as we were traveling. This place really lived up to the hype, and is definitely not just a novelty restaurant, as we initially thought it might be.
Jocelynn V — Google review
We were seated right away. Our waiter was amazing, funny and very knowledgeable! Price was a little steep, but it's seafood, so that was expected. The food was good and my mixed drink was amazing 👏. The cup it comes in, is in the picture I posted. If you like fruity, sweet, and strong, you will love it! I can't remember the exact name, but it's Drirty Dick's something... The name is in red on the menu. They also have a nice gift shop. Overall I had a nice experience there.

This was my first time dining here, and it definitely won’t be the last ! Kristi was our server and she truly made the experience exceptional. She checked in regularly without being overbearing and kept the whole section in great spirits with her positive attitude and attentiveness. Our food arrived quickly, exactly as we ordered it, and everything tasted amazing. Kristi’s fast and accurate service made the meal even more enjoyable. We really enjoyed this place. I had the crab and Jack omelette with grits and an English muffin. My husband had Farmer's omelette which has ham, sausage, bacon and cheese. The service was great. The only complaint I had was I didn't like the coffee, but I would definitely go back again. I also enjoyed the gift shop which had cute stuff and good prices. This review is actually a 4.5 star review. First time here. Food was absolutely delicious. We tried several apps (fried green tomato, oysters mockafella, shrimp and crab dip). All apparently were a hit. Several of us had the fried bounty of the sea. The rest had the Broiled bounty of the Sea. For dessert we tried a slice of the cheese cake, coconut cake and the cheese cake. All were delicious. Thw menu has a good selection and tge portion sizes are good. Had a couple of the classic margaritas which were very tasty. The service was amazing, and every one was very friendly and helpful. The ambiance is very casual and relaxed . We will definitely return.

We had a nice dinner here here. It's geared toward NC food choices. I'm sure any fried item is terrific. My broiled fish was good. Hush puppies were great with honey butter. The steamed shrimp was good as well, but a little messy to eat. The salad had pre done dressing that had been in the freezer and not thawed. Not any vegitarian items on the menu.

Went in for dinner at 6pm this past Saturday and should have been told at the door the LIST of items they were out of for the day. My husband enjoyed his steak however a handful of the fried shrimp I ordered were not deveined. Obviously I don’t mind spending $22 dollars on dinner but if I’m spending $22 dollars on 13 shrimp I expect ALL 13 to be deveined (that’s their poo incase you don’t know). The waitress was nice but we got tired of hearing the excuse of “being out of ABC.” Fried fish, coleslaw, etc also my cocktail sauce came in a plastic serving dish so was being out of honey mustard and ranch because you guys make it in house fresh daily or was it because your waitress was too lazy to pour some in a plastic serving dish? Hush puppies are a 10/10 though.

Our first time here... One of the only closest locations for breakfast that had a seafood omelette and I decided to take the family here. There was a waiting time, as the place was packed, but moved really fast. Once seated, I was sipping coffee in less than a minute. The food came out super fast and was AMAZINGLY GOOD! Made up for waiting, as we were hungry. The service was great and we left super full! I recommend this place, especially the seafood omelette and the BLT!!!

The restaurant at 0608 had customers and they were already eating. The service here is FAST. They are literally making your food as you order it almost. I ate at the bar which was very clean; you can see the food being prepared from nearly half of the restaurant which makes me believe they take pride in it. Everything was cooked to order and done just right. This was my first time here but as I come to the area several times a year, I will make this one of my stops each time. Well done!

Finally got to Grits Grill for a late breakfast (10am on a Thursday in July). No waiting for a seat at the bar and ordered an omelette w/ corned beef hash side. Very impressed watching the cooks make all the orders, and mine took almost no time. Very good portions, great taste! Very attentive service. Remember, if you go during peak times, you'll have to wait...but going as a solo diner is a breeze!

Great food and atmosphere, right on the pier! Really cool place on the pier with seating inside or out. Tons of beer options. There’s also wines and some mixed drinks. Service is really friendly. Just a great beach vibe!

Amazing atmosphere. One of our favorite places to have lunch every year. The happy hour shrimp and fish tacos are outstanding. Can’t beat the ocean breeze and cold beer! The staff are excellent and friendly. Highly recommended Fish Heads. FYI…Parking can be difficult at times, so we walk.

Don't turn into the parking lot! Park on the median on the right just before you turn in. The lot is angled parking with no outlet. It makes for some challenging driving when you have your crew of people. Park along the road before you get in. Okay now to the place...its awesome! They have a ton of outdoor seating but like today it was too windy to accommodate so they had everyone inside. Its a great busy beach bar. Plenty of beer options. They have seating that can accommodate larger parties it seems. Wait time is about 15-30 mins on busy times. No dogs allowed on the pier. Photos are of the coconut shrimp basket and the crab cake sandwich. Both were awesome. The shrimp came out steaming hot! The crab cake was amazing. My partner got the fish sandwich, I didn't get a photo but I swear they put both fillets on the sandwich.

Fish Heads remains the best bar and grill in OBX. The food is incredible and very reasonably priced. Best Tuna bites I have ever had, and it's really hard to beat their happy hour deal shrimp buckets! For beer lovers, they have the widest selection of craft beer I've seen at a beach bar. On top of that, they have live music most nights and a great staff. If you get there and have to wait, don't worry, there is a side bar right outside the main entrance so you can order select beers and drinks while you wait! It is a quintessential must stop every year.

Best waterfront bar atmosphere. Food ranges from simple (hotdogs) to delicious (medium rare ahi sandwich). Huge draft selection—no hard liquor on premises. Beautiful day, the water was amazing! As usual, service was great. Note: they are closed Monday/Tuesday.

Enjoyed lunch in scenic environment. Food was hot and fresh. Staff was very fast and accommodating. Weather was windy but was able to eat away from conditions. Enjoyed watching the fishing from the pier too!
Liz M — Google review
Ok, the food was ok. Hamburger was a frozen variety. Not bad but not fresh. The fries were some of the best I've had in awhile. Someone in that kitchen knows what to do to potatoes. My wife's bbq nachos would have been better if all the chesse hadn't been on the bottom of the plate. Again they weren't bad, just all the chesse made the bottom chips soggy. The waitress was good. It should be noted that we ate during a downpour. She still checked on us regularly. THE highlight of this place is being able to eat while looking out over the ocean. It is the coollest thing. Great views. It makes this place worth a try.

Great food. We had the flounder and scrimp tacos. Live music playing and a cool breeze across the pier. Had a fun time. I highly recommend this joint. Very very good.

The menu features sandwiches, fresh seafood specials, steaks, burgers, and mouthwatering smoked Gouda grit cakes. In addition to delicious appetizers like the Hippie Dip and house-roasted wings, they also serve excellent specialty cocktails.
Great place to stop and grab a bite before heading out to the beach. The kids loved the special kids drinks that came with special surprises. The food had amazing flavors and was definitely worth the stop.

Hands down, THE BEST CRAB CAKES I've ever had. Which sucks for the place I went to two days later, where I ordered crab cakes... 🦀 I don't know how I could ever find better ones. Id be remiss if I didn't comment on their damn jerk seasoning... Holy grilled jerk shrimp 🍤!!! The rest of the food was quite amazing as well, and despite ordering fresh crab cakes, I underspent from my budget. I shall return if I'm back to the area!

Awesome service and lip smackin' good food! The staff were extrenely attentive and we never had to ask for anything! 🙏The stuffed japps were to die for! Super hot and tasty😋The kids menu is super friendly and has something there for every kiddo and even a funky drink for them! The shrimp were HUGE! 🙌 We highly recommend!

Just walk thru and go outside! NO WAIT! Unless it’s full, the outside seating is best for larger groups. Bar is awesome for 2-3 people. The staff is always fantastic and friendly. Been here multiple times and is always a go to. This is not an Applebees or chain atmosphere. If you want that, stay away. It’s way better. Thanks Bonzer, great as always!

It was our first time at the Bonzer Shack. Needless to say it won't be our last. I took my husband out for his birthday on our last night in OBX and our meals were amazing! The drinks were perfect and our bartender Victoria or Veronica ( sorry I can't remember the name...her drinks were too good) is amazing! She was so friendly and fast. My husband and I are both in the industry and we loved that you could buy a round for the kitchen!

this place is awesome. the beach vibes are off the charts and i love it! i got a mango mocktail and it was really good, but it kinda took a while which is reasonable because it was pretty busy. i got the queso steak tacos which have this unexplainable flavor in the seasoning which i think everyone should try. overall, the service food and atmosphere is great. like this post and follow me to take down dan deibler. Nestled in the Pirates Quay Shopping Center, just a stone's throw from the Outer Banks YMCA, Greentail’s Seafood Market and Kitchen is a must-visit for seafood enthusiasts. This charming spot not only supports local fishermen but also offers an impressive array of fresh seafood that changes daily based on availability. From succulent shrimp and salmon to delectable soft-shell crabs and fish baskets, there's something to satisfy every palate.
I don’t have any good pictures because we clobbered it all! I’m an ENC seafood snob and this did not disappoint. We tried poke, grouper sandwich, shrimp poboy, blue crab hush puppies, and smoked fish dip. Fast, hot, fresh and delicious! We’ll be back to try Proof Bakery too after the awesome rolls on the sandwiches here.

We had a great late lunch at Greentail’s! Run like a family style market and small restaurant- they serve while they have the fresh fish available. We had excellent black drum. With potatoes and vegetables the meal was $16.95. Terrific price and service for fresh fish! Highly recommend!

The most delicious meal we’ve had in Nags Head! Food is fresh and super tasty, and the crew is very friendly. On the scale of 1 to 10, I’d give this place a 15. Highly recommend if you are looking for a food experience to leave you feeling satisfied.

Wow, so fresh & so good. Huge portions & reasonable prices. We got the fried grouper sandwich, largest ever & delicious with the sauce, lettuce, bacon & brioche buns. The seared tuna bowl with broccoli, red potatoes & carrots was unique & delicious. The coconut red curry soup was perfection. A must visit if you’re in the Outer Banks area.

Went for a quick lunch with my wife. Ordered the shrimp fried rice and fried grouper sandwich special. Very generous portion of fish. Everything was so fresh and delicious. 2nd best fried rice I've had in my 40+ years. 1st best shrimp fried rice. Can't wait to go back next time we're down for a visit. Seafood market options looked great too.

Amazing! Deal with the lines, and cramped dining area, and go get whatever they are serving!! They are doing everything fresh, with quick, amazing, service with a smile! They will sell out of what you may want, so decide on two options, because you will not go wrong with either. Impressed with the portion size of everything, and quality of the breads that the sandwiches are served on. We were impressed, and we will definitely be back!! Hidden gem but probably not for long.

The Kill Devil Grill is a casual restaurant in North Carolina serving American fare. It is located just steps from the Atlantic Ocean, and features a unique dining car from the 1930s. The restaurant has been popular with locals and visitors to the Outer Banks for 15 years.
We were a party of 3 but all ended up getting meals with grilled chicken so I don’t think I’m able to review the food too in-depth. The appetizer of cheese steak egg rolls was good and the grilled chicken was good quality. The waitress was very friendly and competent and the atmosphere was great even though it’s a small and loud restaurant.

We went for lunch, and only had around a 10 minute wait for 2 of us! Service was amazing, drinks were really good! Highly highly recommended the Caesar salad topped with a crab cake, one of the best crab cakes I’ve had. Key lime pie for dessert was delicious too! We will definitely be back on our next visit!!

My family has been coming for years and I wanted to share some love. Came with a party of 4 around 4:15 and had no wait. Our server, Nicole, made us feel very welcomed and explained any questions we had. Mango margarita with mezcal was delicious. Perfect level of smokiness. My wife absolutely loved her seared sea scallops over pesto orzo. Kids loved their food and strawberry lemonade. My appetizers were all fresh and delicious. Can’t wait to come back next year.

The most Amazing secret in ALL of Kill Devil Hills.. We were staying within walking distance distance and we got on the list around 5:30-6:00 pm …we were told potentially an 45 min wait but because we were fine with a high top got seated in about 20 minutes. Our servers were Jen and John…. and they helped guide our decisions on dinner … we ordered the Bruschetta with Buratta cheese and Toasted bread points…. This was the start of an amazing dinner…. Next my friends and I ordered Seazar salad with grilled chicken, The Citrus Basil salad with blackened shrimp, And then pound of shrimp that was steamed with PBR and spiced. Everything was absolutely amazing. The salads can be an entire dinner and they were so good! We ordered signature cocktails that were absolutely delicious! We got a Blood Orange Cosmo, a Pear Mule and a classic Tito’s and Soda. Then they enticed us with some Key Lime pie with Vanilla wafer crust….OH MY GOODNESS! And As a second choice if you’re a chocolate lover they have a decadent chocolate pecan pie with homemade whipped cream.

Kill Devil Grill is a fun and lively spot housed in an expanded diner car. The original diner forms the bar area, while the dining room stretches out behind it. It’s clearly a local favorite, so expect a wait (we arrived around 5:45 PM on a Friday and waited about 45 minutes). Once seated, service was prompt, peppy, and friendly. Our food came out quickly and everything was delicious. We had the fish sandwich and the crab cake sandwich, and shared the spinach and artichoke dip to start. The fries were thicker than my personal preference but nicely seasoned and piping hot. The key lime pie was excellent (a generous slice easily shared by four!) We were also impressed by how well the staff handled a spill near our table: quick cleanup, safety cone, even a fan to dry the floor. It’s clear this team is well-trained and works together seamlessly. The bar area runs like a well-oiled machine, and the energy adds to the experience. It’s loud, but that’s part of the charm: a vibrant, bustling atmosphere paired with great food and service. Highly recommend for a casual, upbeat dining experience on the Outer Banks.

The Kill Devil Grill in Kitty Hawk is hands down the best spot in the area! The food is absolutely incredible, from the juicy burgers to the flavorful wings, everything was cooked to perfection. Their homemade ranch is to live for, seriously, I could put it on anything. Now, I’m a sweets person and let me tell you, their key lime pie is the best I’ve ever had in my life. One bite and I was sold! I even bought a whole pie to take home (made in house so make sure they have enough). The service was friendly and attentive and the entire experience was top-notch. If you’re anywhere near Kitty Hawk, do yourself a favor and stop by The Kill Devil Grill. You won’t regret it!

Absolutely PHENOMENAL EVERYTHING!!!! From Joni’s amazing, very knowledgeable and friendly service, to the just beyond delicious food all 6 of us had! The Mahi was so full of flavor and just flawless. And then came dessert! The strawberry shortcake I ordered to go but was coaxed into trying one bite while it was still warm. Let’s just say the cake didn’t make it home 😃. The music and vibes were just wonderful. It’s truly been awhile where I have genuinely enjoyed absolutely everything about my dining experience from beginning to end. Highly recommend visiting here whether you’re passing through or here for a nice beach visit!

Kill devil grill is the most popular restaurant in the outerbanks. It has an old world charm, I think the restaurant is quite old. They have amazingly fast service. The chicken wings were amazing, and the fish were good too. Bruschetta was good in the appetizers. The only drawback in this place is the wait time. We had to wait an hour and 20 minutes for a table for 4. Which only suggests how popular this place is. If you’re planning to visit keep a buffer of atleast an hour and they don’t take reservations. Their vegetarian food menu is limited. They have a live kitchen where food is freshly made.

Miller's Seafood & Steak House is a family-owned and operated restaurant that has been a tradition since 1978. The warm hospitality and family values are evident as the Miller family personally checks on customers, creating a welcoming atmosphere. The extensive menu offers breakfast favorites like homemade biscuits and omelets, while dinner specialties include made-from-scratch hush puppies and local seafood options such as coconut shrimp and crab cakes.
the hush puppies were sweet and fried to perfection while my steak was cooked to medium rare with a good sear and topped with crispy onions and a garlic butter. my girlfriend got the bone in pork chop which she really enjoyed. the service was quick and friendly didn’t wait at all for a table although it was a busy Friday night and refills were always coming. after we finished our dinner we got the chocolate cake which had a delicious fudge like frosting on it. they provide you a coupon for 10% off for breakfast and a little card to leave a review on. we came back 2 days later for breakfast which was just as good as our previous dinner experience with some delicious blueberry hush puppies and banana topped french toast with bacon. overall this place was exactly what me and my girlfriend were hoping it would be. we will definitely be coming back here when we visit the area next.

The food was amazing and our waiter, Matt, was truly the best. It was my birthday so we splurged and got the Tomahawk steak and a surf n turf entree. Both steaks had a delicious seasoning, were cooked appropriately, and tasted great. Matt had a good sense of humor, was very attentive and just an all around great waiter. Thanks for making our experience memorable. We will definitely be back!

Really good quality seafood. Highly recommend the scallops (appetizer or meal). Crab dip was mid a little too cheesy, but that’s a preference. Server was nice and everything was presentable and tasty

For the price, this place really missed the mark. We ordered the seafood platter for $39 expecting a decent variety and portion size, but it turned out to be very small. Overall, the portions just didn’t match the cost. I will say the waiter was kind and brought out complimentary bottles of tartar and cocktail sauce, which I appreciated. But the water was straight tap, not filtered, and with tip we ended up spending over $50 (food + tip) for what felt like a very light meal. The place was quite dark, too (as not enough lighting). It was a disappointing experience, and we won’t be coming back.

TL:DR Would give more stars if I could. Will definitely be back. Here on vacation, and know that the meals I find can be hit or miss, since, as someone passing through, I'm not going to have a chance to find all the fantastic little hole in the wall places that the locals know.. that's ok. This isn't a hole in the wall, but it's still fantastic. He got the NY strip (med rare) with mashed potatoes. He said "no complaints", which is descriptive, from him. I got the surf and turf with broiled flounder. I ordered my steak Bleu rare, which isn't common, I know... And they actually did it right. It had that perfect pitsburg char on the outside, buttery tender inside that I love so much. I asked for Lea & Perrins out of habit, but when I tasted the steak, I found it so perfectly seasoned that I never opened the bottle. I saved the hush puppies for dessert, because they are like a beignets' slight less sweet cousin. The tea was actually sweet enough, and the soft drinks are Pepsi products on tap. Huzzah.

We loved our time at Mama Kwan's. There was a little bit of wait, ~45 mins, but there was a big car show going on and we went at peak time. Still though, there were drinks available at the bar and plenty of seating outside while we waited. Once we got our table, the server was quick and friendly. Our food was fantastic, too! The souvenir glasses and cups are definitely a nice touch. The Crispy Ginger Shrimp appetizer was out favorite!!

This is our second time back to Mama Kwan's and they never disappoint! Such a fun atmosphere! The food is always good. We got crabcakes, fish tacos, and a burger. One of my friends did get the jerk chicken that she was not thrilled with. It was very spicy for her and had a lot of sauce on it. Our overall wait time was probably about 30 minutes sat outside under the umbrella, met some nice people overall great time. Will be back mama

Went to Mama Kwan's one evening over Labor Day weekend for dinner. We didn't have a reservation so we tried to order take out. Since they were very busy, they were not doing take out orders so we waited about 40 minutes for a table. Once seated, we went ahead and ordered our food. We went with the Garbage Plate (add chicken) and Sesame Grilled Chicken. Both entrees came out quickly and tasted great. We also ordered some Honey Jerk Chicken Tenders to go. They definitely get the food out quickly and get you in and out fast. Great experience at Mama Kwan's.

This place is such a delightful hole in the wall with fabulous menu choices, friendly service, & quick turnaround time for freshly made to order food! The mix of flavors and textures were spot on for the grilled Mahi tacos, grilled Mahi sandwich, mac and cheese, beans & rice, and waffle fries (not greasy, just fresh crisp deliciousness!). Their pico is also fresh and has a great flavor profile. I want to return to try about a dozen other menu items! Definitely recommend!

Ordered the blackened fish tacos and they were so good! My husband ordered the fried crab cakes and they were really tasty, especially with the freshness of their coleslaw. The rice was ok, but sorta lacked in flavor. The service here was great, even though it was busy. I don’t remember who was at the bar, but they kept our drinks filled and made sure we were good. This place is small! There isn’t much room for large parties.

Great food and friendly service tucked i to a little place. Just grabbed lunch here with family and the food selection, quality, and taste were incredible. Two in our party are vegetarian/pescatarian and the selection was great for them. I ordered the bbq chicken quesadilla and it was delicious. The beans and rice were amazing-not just a boring side. We googled best places to dine and found this AMAZING little cozy spot! Not gonna lie, was hesitant pulling up as there weren’t many cars in the parking lot. But decided to go in and try it based on the reviews. Sooo happy we did!! We ordered the Blackened Mahi-Mahi Bowl! It was just what we didn’t know we needed! 🤩 We topped it with their homemade habanero hot sauce and it was PERFECTION! The atmosphere was just a tiny hole in wall feel and we could see why people kept coming in! The food!!

Stopped by here at the recommendation of my brother and his family and it did not disappoint! Three of us ordered and split the nachos without a protein for an appetizer. They were incredible! Loved the cheese sauce and especially the corn mixed in with the salsa. I ordered the blackened shrimp quesadilla which was excellent. Full of flavor that was very balanced. If you’re up for a hot sauce, absolutely try their habanero peppa sauce. It’s the best hot sauce I’ve ever had. I bought a couple bottles while I was there. It’s a little off the beaten path and in a strip shopping center and well worth it!!

Tucked away in the charming Kill Devil Hills, JK's Restaurant is a delightful gem that combines a cozy beach house ambiance with an impressive menu of wood-fired land and sea dishes. Since its inception in 1984, this beloved establishment has become a staple for both locals and visitors alike, renowned for its expertly prepared steaks and succulent seafood. The restaurant prides itself on using only the finest Midwest beef, ensuring each bite is bursting with flavor and tenderness.
We've been going to JK's since 2013 when visiting the Outer Banks. It is one of THE best steakhouses in NC. John is superb and he always makes us feel right at home when we are there! The staff is friendly and excellent as well. The steaks are exquisite and prepared perfectly. The flame grilled prime rib on Fridays is unique and worth making a special trip to try. Their sides are perfect "southern" compliments to the steak.

All I have to say is WOW!! we had 2 appetizers, a veal rack, a filet, and a rib eye absolutely amazing. My family enjoyed everything. A great option for turf! After eating seafood for most of the week, this place was readily welcomed. And they didn’t disappoint. The veal & lamb were some of the best we’ve had. Even out of small beach towns. Well prepared and fresh. We had shots and drinks as well, atmosphere was positive and lively even on a Monday night. Would not recommend the espresso martinis, much too sweet and from what we could tell, didn’t contain espresso.. but other than that small detail, dinner was delicious. Margaritas were made well, we stuck with those. Asparagus and green beans as sides were perfect. Southern style. Very tasty. Don’t skip those. Quail and hen for appetizers.

Great food as usual. (Tonight 10/28)My husband and I typically sit at the bar but brought my mother in law to celebrate her birthday. I did not catch the servers name but she was fantastic start to finish.

Bob's Grill OBX is a lively American eatery located in Kill Devil Hills, offering a casual and welcoming atmosphere. The restaurant is known for its generous portions, diverse menu, and friendly service that keeps customers coming back. Whether you're in the mood for hearty breakfast options like plate-sized pancakes and fresh-made hash browns or satisfying lunch dishes such as seafood burritos and Angus beef burgers, Bob's Grill has something for everyone.
Bob's Grill-'Eat and get the hell out!' was a first-time visit for us! Very busy for breakfast! Despite our extra 'customer' (a 2-month-old baby in a carrier), a large enough table was secured! No wonder the reviews are fabulous! This place is absolutely Delicious! We had the: Greek Omelet (Keto friendly!), Fried Oyster Platter (mouth-watering!), Classic Eggs Benedict (so good!), and the Country Fried Steak and Eggs (BIG plate for a BIG eater!). It's no wonder why their slogan is 'Eat and get the hell out!' Due to the high volume of customer turnover, it's not a place to sit and chit-chat after your meal. That was okay with us as there are so many exciting things to do in the OBX! Everything was beyond amazing! The servers, the happy atmosphere, the vibe of the surfer theme, the prices, the FOOD, of course! It's definitely worth a re-visit next time we are in OBX!

Stopped here on our way to our rental house and was pleasantly surprised. Service was good and the food was excellent. I got the Greek omelette with French fries and my group got pancakes. If you’re getting the pancakes either have someone to share it with or maybe ask for one? They’re as big as the plate and though it was a cool concept to have huge pancakes, most of the people at my table couldn’t finish most of it and needed up wasting food. They were excellent pancakes though. My omelette was super good too and the French fries were nice and crispy. The prices were pretty decent too! I would definitely come back here again!

Really good breakfast. Big place but always pretty busy, so you may need some patience. The waiting is worth it, though. Pancakes are enormous. A normal stack of 3 would have violated my rule of never eating anything bigger than my head, so I only had 1 (with blueberries). Really delicious biscuits and gravy. The gravy has a really good sausage flavor, as it should. Service was good and our coffee cups never made it to empty.

After 2 years of waiting, I finally got into this spot and it was 100% worth it. This is the breakfast sandwich you want on a sunny August morning in OBX. Perfectly toasted bread, packed with sausage, and eggs cooked exactly how you like them. The prices are quite fair for the size of the portions, especially considering it’s in a tourist area. This platter was $12 and very filling. Our server was amazing, handling 6 of us with great communication. I had a small issue with my eggs, and she remade them without hesitation. Back in 2023, we skipped because the waitlist was too long. Now I get why. If you’re in the Outer Banks, don’t leave without eating here. We ate it as our final meal before heading to the road trip back, and I advise you to try the same!

It was great food! Great service! Two people at our table did the food challenge though and passed and still had to pay $40 for the challenge. That wouldn’t be a problem but we specifically asked if it would be $10 (there were 2 people doing it) and she said yes. At the end, when i asked to confirm, she said no it wasn’t free and charged $40. We had no problem paying, but i believe she should’ve corrected us when we asked if it was $10, and there should be something that says it is NOT free if finished. I’ve never seen a food challenge that isn’t free when it’s passed/ completed. Again, service was good and so was the food but i don’t appreciate the lack of information.

Review for Bob’s Grill Eat and Get the Hell Out My family and I have enjoyed Bob’s Grill many times in the past, especially while on vacation, and we’ve always appreciated the food and the overall atmosphere. However, after our recent visit, we are left with mixed feelings, primarily due to an unfortunate interaction with an employee. While we were waiting for our food, my wife was holding our 6-month-old son, leaving his high chair available for our diaper bag and protective liner. At this moment, a waitress named Jennifer—who had red hair—approached our table and proceeded to take the high chair with our belongings on it. When we attempted to stop her, she casually remarked, “Y’all don’t need this,” and took it anyway. I had to reach across my wife and child to grab our items back. It’s important to note that there were plenty of available high chairs in the restaurant, and we were not blocking or impeding any other guests. The people seated next to us were also taken aback by the interaction. While we were satisfied with the food and the service from our primary waitress, this incident left a sour taste. As a family, we will be reconsidering future visits to Bob’s Grill. We hope management will address this situation, as no guest should feel disrespected or inconvenienced in this manner, especially when dining with young children. We wish Bob’s Grill the best and hope that this feedback leads to better customer service in the future.

We went to Bobs for breakfast. There motto is eat and get the hell out. We got good food and good service. This wasn't the first choice but I'm glad we came by here. I would give them 7 out of 10
M B — Google review
I ordered the biscuits and gravy, with 2 sides of toast…for carry out. Online menu shows biscuits with gravy are $9+, but there is a 2nd option for them that’s only like, $7+. I ordered the $9+ option…because it’s my favorite breakfast! Unfortunately, this wasn’t at all what I was expecting. There was only 1 biscuit!!! And that 1 was in SEVERAL pieces…so idk if it was even a whole biscuit! Smdh. I had to wait 10mins for my food…even though I arrived within the time it told me my food would be ready. Specifically, it said a 20-35min wait when I placed the order & I waited that before heading to the restaurant. I get it…it was PACKED! The “toast” was just bread….not toasted at all. The butter didn’t even melt when I drove the 1 block back to the Inn I’m staying at (less than 2mins drive). Lastly, they don’t do Hard Boiled eggs! They offer every other kind..but when I called, they said they do not offer them. Odd…for a breakfast restaurant. While the staff were kind during the LIMITED interactions I had with them, their service and food left a LOT to be desired. Worst part was, the gravy wasn’t even very good. Tasted almost like it was made from a pouch…left my mouth dry. I will not be recommending Bob’s to anyone…even if I was happy to see it was woman owned. DO BETTER! Paid $17 for a breakfast that was SOOOOO not worth $10, let alone $17+!

We stopped in for dinner a group of us. The food was amazing. What was even more amazing was that they made the guacamole in front of us and it was delicious. The platters are really good and a bunch of us got the seafood chimichangas which were amazing the sauce and the chips were also amazing and the service was great. Shout out to our guy server, Angel. Nice little Mexican restaurant in the Outer Banks. Food was good. Service was good, although the food came out a little slow. Tasty chips and salsa. We'd go back again if we're in the area.

We were staying in Nags Head, NC when a coupon book at our hotel caught my 11-year-old’s eye - Plaza Azteca Mexican Restaurant in Kill Devil Hills looked promising. Google showed a solid 4.4 stars and it was just an 8-minute drive, so we decided to give it a try. The overall experience was really good. The presentation of food was on point, the drinks were colorful and fun (check out the layered frozen drink we tried!), and the service was attentive and friendly. But here’s why I had to take away one star: the chicken fajitas were not served sizzling. They came in a regular plate instead of a hot cast iron griddle, so while the flavor was definitely there, the chicken became chewy as it cooled off mid-meal. That sizzling effect isn’t just flair - it helps maintain the texture and temperature. That said, we’d definitely consider coming back if we’re in the area again. The ambiance was comfortable, and the overall quality of the food made this a memorable dinner stop during our OBX visit.

While in obx, we ordered on doordash to our hotel, and I just had to write a review. The food was absolutely delicious. I can't imagine what it would be like at the restaurant. It arrived hot, and everything was accurate.

The food was good. Both my wife's taco del carne Asad and my fried steak chimichonga tasted great. Had a couple issues with service. The wrong food was brought to our table. A second glass of water was being brought but never made it to the table.

We got to drunk and needed a delivery order. Doordash had PA and it covered the craving we were having. The prices were very fair for the quantity of quality food that was delivered. It was all DEEELICIOUS. My only complaint is there was hardly any pineapple in my pineapple meal. None the less it was fantastic. Will definitely get food from here again.

Nags Head Cafe is a long-standing family-owned restaurant known for its charming atmosphere and focus on seafood, Southern cuisine, and breakfast offerings. Located in the historic Harris Grocery store along Nags Head's beach road, it has been a staple since 1985. The menu features a mix of traditional and contemporary Southern dishes alongside fresh local seafood and chicken options. Situated amidst the original oceanfront cottages of old Nags Head, the cafe offers a quaint setting for enjoying delicious meals.
The atmosphere is very small town with wooden floors and and even amount of decor. They don’t offer tap water which is wonderful. You can order a bottle of spring water. They serve real whipped butter. The fresh squeezed orange juice had me ordering a second glass. Plenty of fans to keep the air moving. Smoothie and bacon for our son. Western omelets for my wife and brother and a lobster crab and cheddar cheese omelet for me. Everything was just a quality experience. We will be back.

After having a HORRIFIC experience at the Pier House Restaurant (do not make the mistake of going there), this Cafe was beyond incredible with hospitality, service, meal presentation, and quality! Came here with my husband and my family for breakfast during our vacation and fell in love with the brunch omelette—lobster, crab & cheese omelette I highly recommend!! Whenever in OBX again, will definitely stop here for breakfast!

What a hidden gem. I got the daily special which was a lobster and crabmeat omelette w asparagus and crispy potatoes and I was not disappointed! Sweet tea was great and so was the chocolate chip pancake. I will come back here next time I’m in Nags head

I cannot say enough good things about the Nags Head Cafe and the staff. The food was excellent. I had the chicken and biscuits and it was spectacular. The potatoes are all individually and perfectly browned. My husband got the Nags Header and it was perfect as well. The servings are generous. I also ordered the Chunky Monkey, frozen, from their new coffee menu and it was very good. The person who mixed it was not the usual person and it was a little bit too frozen even though it was delicious. When my husband decided to get one to go the waitress saw that I had a lot of ice left and ask if it was too icy. When I said yes she brought me more to add to it when she brought my husband's drink. That is above and beyond folks.

This place is a neighborhood gem! It has a cute atmosphere, the staff are very nice, and the food was amazing & very reasonably priced. I have food allergies and they were very good with them. Our waitress had food allergies as well. We came in for breakfast. Their biscuits were very fluffy on the inside with a crunchy exterior. The scrambled eggs were cooked perfectly (not overcooked or too wet). My husband enjoyed the potato pancake. Everything was very tasty. They don't provide glasses of tap water, only plastic bottles and that worked for me. Everything we ate was delicious. Our waitress was sweet and we were very comfortable there. Can't wait to go back!

Fantastic, fabulous, wonderful place for breakfast/lunch. Best breakfast I've had in OBX, this year! We were greeted with a cheery smile, by our host. The lovely waitperson was super sweet, and friendly..so, we started off with Bloody Mary's and Costa Rican coffee. Avacado Toast for me and Chicken and Waffles for my companion. The salsa verde added another layer of flavor to the Avacado Toast. The waffles came with real Maple syrup, and the chicken was perfectly done. Outstanding in every way. Go there, you won't be disappointed.

Seafood market
Austin Fish Co. is a seafood market that is located next to Jockey's Ridge State Park and within walking distance of Kitty Hawk Kites' flagship location. The market has a small number of picnic tables that can be used for seating, but the bulk of the space is devoted to displaying unpacked fishmongers' wares on ice.
Good prices, a large variety of different fish, shellfish, crabs and steamers + more!. Out of all the seafood markets this one seemed to have have the best prices and good quality looking meat. They were super nice and double bagged our take-home fish and crab legs for our long travel. I would recommend to anyone looking for cooked or uncooked seafood around the area. One last way to experience the Outer Banks from home, thanks!

Always stop here for fresh fish and seafood. Today was for lunch. Fried shrimp had more than enough shrimp along with 3 delicious hush puppies and my choice of Cole slaw and potato salad. The potato salad was perfect. So creamy and tasty. The other meal was fried grouper fingers with French fries and coleslaw. Plenty of fish, in fact, brought fish and shrimp home as left overs. Hush puppies may be small but they have a huge flavor and fresh corn in batter makes them heavenly
Shari R — Google review
Great food. We ended up getting a couple of the grouper fingers platters with either french fries, macaroni salad, and coleslaw. We also had the fried shrimp platter. Everything was fresh and delicious. Folks are nice and friendly. We ate at the picnic tables outside. They also had keylime pies. The shrimp and Andouille sausage was the best.

Austin Seafood never disappoints. The staff is always friendly, and they serve some of the best fish sandwiches you’ll find anywhere. To top it off, the hush puppies are absolutely amazing. I highly recommend this spot. It’s also reasonably priced, which is a pleasant surprise—especially compared to other places in the Outer Banks that are often overcrowded. Here, you can enjoy a relaxed atmosphere without the long waits. Whether you’re dining in or grabbing fresh or raw fish to go, Austin Seafood delivers a consistently great experience

1000000/10 would recommend to anyone and everyone. We vacation here and were recommended this shop by so many. I completely understand why so many love this place. The people here were more than outstanding, I cannot thank them enough. I came in looking to pack a cooler of fresh fresh to cook after some travel. They not only gave me great recommendations, but also packed the cooler for me! He even was going to carry it out and load it up for me. I adored the above and beyond customer service! This place is a treasure! Hands done some of the best fish I have ever had. We bought multiple types from them to cook at home and WOW, so yummy. We also got some boiled shrimp from them to go. I don't usually even like shrimp, but this shrimp was completely different from what I usually experience. The shrimp tasted fresh, not fishy at all, and had a great texture. On top of having fantastic fish, they have some wonderful customer service. We live 5 hours away. When we got home, we realized that our wahoo had been priced as the more expensive grouper. It was an honest mistake as we had also bought grouper. I called the store and Buster got it sorted right away. They mailed me a check for the difference! Hard to find customer service like that these days. Would recommend this place to anybody. I wish we lived closer!

This was absolutely the highlight meal of our trip. We got the Mermaid Delight boil to go and it was perfectly prepared and sooo much food! We actually ate it for 2 meals. It was so delicious! Came here twice during our vacation to the outer banks. Smoothies are plenty big and can be split into two cups ($1 upcharge) and was a hit with my kids. The hot Eddie breakfast bagel was so good with just a hint of spicy. The hubs enjoyed a classic with the walkover bagel. I also enjoyed a couple different iced lattes(Hawaiian mocha and coffee cake), but did ask for it to be slightly less sweet. It's a really cute coffee shop with plenty of space to sit. Would definitely revisit!

Modern deli, coffee shop, brew pub with incredible food and drink and great selection. Can get super busy on turn days and prices are super high but probably tracks with what most people are used to if coming in on vacation from major metro areas. Friendly staff and kid friendly.

Super cute place to stop for lunch or breakfast. Food and coffees were amazing. It was packed for breakfast but line moved quickly and food and drink came out quickly based on how many people were there. Definitely recommend if you're in the area. Stopped 2 times during our trip down to OBX. First time tried the cheddar biscuits with bacon, egg and cheese and chicken, egg and cheese. Second stop did the regular biscuit with bacon, egg and cheese. Both were good but I think I preferred the regular biscuit. Will definitely stop back next time we are in the area.

Stopped by not once but twice on our OBX vacation. First stop we got the cheddar topped bacon, egg & cheese biscuit sandwiches and they were delicious. The biscuits melt in your mouth. Second stop had us getting the sausage gravy and biscuits. The gravy wasn't yet ready, but the staff was super friendly and gave us the wait time. They also kindly packaged everything separately so it didn't get soggy on the walk back to our rental. It's a dumpy gas station with awesome food and great staff. Even with a line at the counter they move you through fast!

The name got us. There were biscuits and a rack of porn magazines. Don’t go in expecting anything more graphic than the name and shrink wrapped adult magazines. People are friendly, the store is clean, and well stocked in terms of merch. The biscuits were ok. I got the plain, the husband got the cheese biscuit. Both were dry. With the amount of great local places to eat, this place is a one and done for us in terms of food. Would come back for gas and snacks but not the biscuit or porn.

I flew in from Houston to come to this place I’ve been wanting to go for years and now that I got adult money the dream has becoming a reality. I also want to get the pop table lottery tickets and they have them in this state. The biscuits were 100/100 and the nudy mags were kool.

Is it a gas station that sells amazing food or an amazing take out restaurant that sells gas? You tell me . It don’t really matter. Just go there. It’s my favorite place for biscuit sandwiches on the outer banks. A Chicken, egg, cheese, and DOUBLE BACON on a cheddar biscuit is my standard order. You just can’t go wrong getting food here. The staff keeps the line moving pretty good even when they are at their busiest. *Please have your order figured out before you get up to the counter! There’s guaranteed to be people waiting in line behind you. Thank you for your attention to this matter. 🇺🇸 😆 It’s always what’s for breakfast our first morning out there and it’s our last stop for “road food” before heading out west on 64 going home with several other visits in between. Don’t forget to get ya plenty of swag! There’s nothing better than seeing the looks I get pushing my buggy around the new Apex Harris Teeter with my BnP travel mug in the cup holder 😉 I’ve had people ask me if that’s a real place. I tell them that it certainly is and they don’t know what they’re missing.

Nestled in the heart of the Outer Banks, South Beach Grille has been a beloved family-owned establishment for over three decades. Recently transitioning to a more compact venue at milepost 13, they now specialize in take-out, delivery, and catering services. This charming spot offers an array of mouthwatering options including burgers, cheesesteaks, tacos, wraps, and even mac n cheese!
Super excited to find this place - we’ve been coming to OBX for years. They have GG options! (Easiest to view it by downloading the menu pdf from their website.) The GF fried chicken sandwich with GF bun is PHENOMENAL. My husband LOVED the Po’Boy. We are originally from Philly and having the cheesesteak on an Amoroso - chefs kiss! Only critique is the cheesesteak was a little bit on the salty side. The Fried chicken sandwich is massive so I cut it in half for my kids. They could barely finish just a half it’s so large. I loved the southwest salad and the dressing is delicious. We will definitely order from here again next summer!
Larissa K — Google review
All my experiences with South Beach have been absolutely phenomenal. It is definitely one of my go-to spots on the beach. Whether it's picking up, or getting delivery, the service is always quick, reliable, and friendly. The menu has something for everyone, burgers, wraps, tacos, salads, and even vegan and vegetarian options (which are hard to find on the beach). Every meal I have had has been delicious. The fries are incredible and that fry sauce is out of this world. To top it off, the staff is amazing. They are friendly and helpful and very efficient. If you're looking for your new favorite spot on the beach, look no further.

What can I say about South Beach, THANK YOU FOR COMING BACK! This place leaving for a while broke my families heart. This is probably one of our favorite places to eat. The food is amazing and flavorful. The burritos are jam packed full of ingredients. The French fries are hand cut and always amazing. The staff is very friendly and make to feel very welcoming. The delivery is on point too. Quick and fast. You can't go wrong with this place.

Had a swimmingly great time with my pack at South Beach! My Mac was fire, both literally and physically, thanks to you, kitchen crew. My friend, Young Toby, absolutely devoured their Mac as well, before enjoying some NBA Young Boy on the way to Harris Teeter. Only regret is letting the boy on register suffer through that scary training. Thank you all.

It's great to find a delicious place to eat that offers just as many options for vegetarians and vegans as they have for meat eaters. The gal at the counter was super cool and helpful! I enjoyed 2 blackened chickpea tacos and my husband had one of the vegetarian wraps. It was huge! We also added on a side of fries which were large and tasty. I'm happy we got a chance to eat here while visiting the area.

Big backs rejoice! If you are hungry and are looking for a flavourful and fulfilling chicken sandwich, come to South Beach and get you the Fried Chicken Sandwich. The South Beach chicken sandwich was not mentioned during the Chicken sandwich war because they are in a league of its own. Their fries are also amazing. Crispy and natural. I would highly recommend it to anyone nearby.

Always looking for new spots down OBX and this may be the best take out you can get. They have a huge menu with a ton of different options. We tried the fried chicken sandwich, a couple of the bowls, and a cheesesteak. Everything was delicious and the portions were very generous for what you paid. Will definitely be back to try more.

If you're on the hunt for a delicious sandwich experience, look no further than Jersey Mike's Subs. This New Jersey-based chain has made a name for itself with its generous portions of fresh-sliced deli meats and mouthwatering grilled subs. With locations in Nags Head and Southern Shores open year-round, you can enjoy their scrumptious offerings any day of the week, whether dining in or grabbing takeout.
The people working at this location are awesome. Fast, friendly and polite. We were there with a large order of 11 subs and it took less than 10 minutes. They set the example for Jersey Mike's all over. Great job!

The Italian and Philly steak sandwiches are my favorite! I love this place. I just wish the meats and sheeses were fresh and not processed. That's how all sub shops are, unfortunately. The customer service was great. The atmosphere was good.

Went in on a Wednesday afternoon, 2:30 pm, young kid at the cash register totally rude and being smug. I mentioned to the manager that the kids these days in the service industry have no respect for customers. It's a completely different experience and generation these days who have no clue how to treat a customer. They also have no fear for repercussions or loosing their jobs.

10/2021 Cameron and Chase I believe also Juan has the best customer service, they accommodate my changes and do it with friendly service..they get better everytime I go in.. thanks for the awesome service and even short handed do it with a smile.. 8/2021 ..the meatball sub, and a creature of habit I get the same every time, but those with me, always enjoy there sandwiches as well. The service is friendly and speedy, I also love the ability to use my Mike's card to receive and eventually redeem for sandwiches later. Only issue is the website, which makes it complicated to correct or go online to order.. still has some tweaking to do..but, as far as taste, and service, its' great. If any issue, its I only wish it was a bit more affordable, but I suppose that's the price you pay for better quality. Then again, a small price drop would most definitely give more the ability to go, and enjoy the subs, and help Mike's with more sales, just a thought.. otherwise I'll continue going as a treat to myself..but would love to go more if prices ever go down a bit.. 5 stars, food and service.

If you are in the mood for an amazing chicken Philly or steak make sure to stop at Jersey Mikes! Their sweet peppers make it every time! Also they have chicken salad right now which is a must try. Nags head location always friendly and orders always come out quick!

Stopped in for a late dinner, like 8:45 when they close at 9:00 pm. Food was great, Brandt took my order and helped fix my sub...even took some friendly joshing from me. We left at 9:00 and they locked the door right after we left. Brandt also suggested having bacon on Duck Donuts, tried it the next day.

In the past, we loved this Jersey Mike’s location but something has happened…it’s awful. It’s clearly got new workers and/or ownership that is not prioritizing quality and service. This is a regular stop for us on our vacation. It’s always been ok (yes, we are used to food spots being packed at the OBX). In the past, we have ordered ahead and it’s been decent. Good food and the food is ready on time. This week, we go the first time once and the place is backed up. Well I wait, and wait, and wait, for my order to be brought out and it doesn’t happen. I finally get in line to ask for my order, which at this point is ten min plus past their estimated time and over thirty min from the time I ordered. I gave them the benefit of the doubt, they were busy. We finally got our order and I let it go. Then we tried it again. Ordered early, order was supposed to be ready at a certain time. Show up at my time and, that’s fine, you’re busy I’ll wait. It wasn’t ready. But I had to wait more than 30 minutes past the time they estimated it would be ready. Mind you, this made the wait well over an hour from my actual order time (I ordered around 12:40) It made no sense. Saw several people who had arrived after me and ordered in real time get their orders before mine. This location has ZERO BUSINESS taking online orders when they cannot handle them. When my order is supposed to be ready at a few minutes after one, and I don’t get it until 1:45, there is a major problem. My order should have been ready FAR BEFORE all the people in your horrendously long line because I placed it so much earlier!!! Never again. This location should be shut down.

I know it’s just subs but the owner makes it a proper sub joint. Chats to every person placing an order and doesn’t skip a beat while slicing. Great dude!

Food and drinks were really good. Fresh and delicious. We went there since April but I forgot to leave a review. I’m now missing the food and smoothies there. We will definitely be back this restaurant when we go to Outer Bank.

Location is everything here. The food was horrible. It cost $94 for myself and 3 kids to eat lunch here, and we left disappointed and hungry. Everything was flavorless and mostly just greens. I understand offering healthy options, and I’m all for that, but you can still season your food and include an appropriate ratio of protein to filler. My 6 year old was complaining about the grilled cheese and I kept trying to get her to eat it until I took a bite and it was literally like eating cardboard. Hard and dry. We were so bummed that I ended up just taking them to get Surfin Spoon immediately after to make up for it.
Rebecca S — Google review
Good food, nutrient dense options. I tried the snickers bowl & my son had the chicken wrap. Nice location on the water. Iced Mocha was okay, not great.
John G — Google review
I was so excited to find a place that takes online orders and has GF options. The salad bowl was DELICIOUS. And my husband enjoyed the chicken bacon wrap. My kids enjoyed their pancakes (so much so I don’t have a picture). Since we enjoyed it so much we decided to order a second time and the second time was NOT as good as the first. The shrimp in my salad was not seasoned as it had been the first time. I had also paid extra for feta cheese and they didn’t put it on. They also didn’t give us any ketchup or syrup for the sandwich/hashbrowns & pancake. Just disappointed in the inconsistency since the first time was the outstanding and second time was average. We did take out both times and online ordering was easy but make sure you double check your order before driving back to your home.
Larissa K — Google review
It was such a fun, cute little café right by the water. They are family friendly (including your furry family member) and they have so many healthy, delicious options. The gluten free selection is excellent- the case of baked goods was almost entirely gluten free and the menu had more GF options than I've seen in a while. The gentleman at the check out is delightful, he's so easy to chat with and attentive to all the customers, even when it got busy. Finally, there's a shop area at the entrance with a good variety of souvenirs at good prices. They also had handmade mugs for really good prices. It's a great place to have breakfast or lunch and then grab a little piece of memorabilia. I can't wait to be back for lunch today 😊
Anne H — Google review
Great spot on the water with a good amount of options for vegans. We got a few drinks along tofu scramble, with vegan cheese. Also, plenty of vegan smoothie options, açaí bowls, and protein balls.
Dr. H — Google review
Freshfit was cited by a national food magazine as having some of the best pancakes in the country, so I sought them out. I’m not sure we would have stopped otherwise, as it looks like just another smoothie bar. But once we did, we ate several more meals there. Their food and portion sizes are fantastic and everything is prepared fresh. Located right on the sound with waterfront tables. And the pancakes were really good too! Highly recommend.
Sali G — Google review
Freshfit Cafe was so cute! The workers were very helpful and kind. The food was very good and service was speedy and neat. We ordered the blueberry pancakes and several types of omelets with hash browns, as well as some specialty coffees. The omelets came scrambled which I hadn’t had before, but they were very delicious!! Very cute place and I will definitely be back!

Food is usually pretty good but.......if you use coupons(app) expect a DRASTIC drop in quality. I ordered the same 2 sandwiches for my wife and I three days apart and used the app with a BOGO coupon the second time and you could have fit all the toppings from both footlongs in a six inch sub. I normally wouldn't leave a bad review but after the sixth bite of empty bread I'm a little pissed. Just don't honor the coupons rather than rip people off! The ONLY reason it's 2 stars is because the gentleman behind the counter was pleasant(probably thinking about the look on our faces eating empty bread lol). Seriously just don't except the coupons.

Dune Street Rawbar & Grill is a vibrant and lively restaurant located in Nags Head's Surfside Plaza. The spacious venue attracts a local crowd, offering an inventive menu that primarily focuses on seafood but also caters to various tastes. The interior has a modern feel with a large bar in the dining area. The raw bar offers an impressive selection of oysters from different regions, accompanied by delicious sauces.
My boyfriend wanted oysters, which led us to this restaurant. Absolutely amazing!! Everything was incredible from start to finish! We were greeted as soon as we walked in & taken straight to a table. Our server, Sadye, was wonderful & so personable. The food exceeded expectations & we both sampled things from each others plates. The menu is varied & has a wide range of offerings, literally something for everyone & the cuisine is eclectic and so so tasty! Bright, fresh flavors that go together so well. We will definitely be back & I recommend you give Dune Street Raw Bar & Grill a try!

Our waitress was very nice, but this place is incredibly loud inside. It made it hard to hear at our table. Table was sticky, and menus were ripped and wrinkled paper. The others at the table enjoyed their food. I’m a big fan of brisket, so I got the brisket burger. It was terrible. The patty only covered about 75% of the large bun it was served on. Toppings were clearly not fresh. The burger itself was not cooked evenly. Meat did not seem fresh. Our waitress was kind and didn’t charge us for the burger, but I went next door and ate after.
Logan — Google review
Hands down our favorite restaurant on vacation! All 4 of our meals were amazing! The oysters were fresh and not overly briny, absolutely perfect to start. The fish and chips were crispy on the outside and flaky inside — one of the best I’ve had. I am still amazed how perfect the breading was done! The crab cake was packed with flavor and hardly any filler, and the fried shrimp were golden, light, and delicious. Everything tasted incredibly fresh, and the portions were generous. On top of that, the service was warm and welcoming, which made the whole experience even better. Highly recommend this spot if you’re looking for amazing seafood in a relaxed atmosphere.

Tucked away in a shopping center, Dune Street Rawbar and grill is a wonderful find. While the menu is not extensive, it still offered a good variety of entrees. Daily specials are listed on a separate sheet. Be sure to review it prior to ordering. Dining area is very casual, almost with a no frills look. However, all the dishes that we've ordered came out flavorfully done, and well presented. Portions were generous as well. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Pricing was similar to others in the area. A good choice for seafood and casual dining.
Pyro C — Google review
The service was excellent. Pretty sure our waitress’s name is as Grace. Great engaging personality. We felt welcomed and cared for during our entire stay. Several waitstaff took time to engage in conversation about our overall experience and stay throughout our vacation. Additionally one of the chefs came out and asked us about our appetizers (crab rangoons). They were GREAT! I had the prime ribeye, wife shrimp and scallops, 9 year old fried flounder. We left stuffed. Will definitely be back when in the area. Well done!
Maxton B — Google review
We had a great experience from the moment we walked in to when we left. We were seated immediately and had our drinks shortly after. The waitress was very familiar with the menu and gave us a few recommendations. We asked the oyster guy to pick us out some based on our taste preference and he nailed it. They had great accompaniments for the oysters that really took them over the top. We ordered the fish and chips and shrimp miso for our entrees. They were both top notch. The fish and chips came with slaw that had jicima, and it gave it the ultimate texture. The miso was so flavorful, and the shrimp to other toppings ratio was great. My only want for the miso was that the egg be marinated, but I wouldn't let that keep me from ordering it again. We can't wait to go back!
Mike F — Google review
We walked in and no one was at the host desk. Finally someone came to seat us at a table like they were doing us a favor. The food was good and the waitress was good. We quickly realized that this was a "locals" place and we were obviously tourists. The bar counter was full and the bar tender knew everyone seated there. This place is located in a strip mall.
Patrick B — Google review
My wife and I stopped by on a weekday evening for date night dinner and the wait for seating inside was nearly two hours. However the host offered us seating outdoors immediately, and while it was a bit gusty, we decided to take that offer. While small (maybe 6 tables), it is somewhat enclosed which helped to damper the breeze. Our server Hannah was quick to greet us, and talk us through their specials that evening. We started with house margaritas (which were on special for $5) and the fried calamari. The margaritas were simple, but good, and the calamari was also very good! Hannah also provided excellent recommendations and prompt service which was greatly appreciated. For my entree, I was disappointed to learn that they were out of one of the specials, and so instead opted for the chili-glazed duck. I was a bit skeptical of how well a beach raw bar would do duck, but my-oh-my was I surprised. The duck was cooked a perfect medium rare, with a sweet and spicy chili sauce glazed over it. It was served along with broccolini over a bed of sticky rice. The flavors of each component perfectly complimented the others, and the portions were generous. The broccolini was a perfect tender crisp, providing a nice balance of texture to the overall dish. My wife opted for the Baja tacos which were on special, which she found excellent as well. The sauces with which they were served, however, she found far too spicy. Overall, great service with one very good and one stellar dish. I haven’t been so pleasantly surprised by a dish in quite some time! I would highly recommend the chili-glazed duck!

McGrath's Burger Shack is a meat lover's haven with an Irish twist, offering a variety of wing styles, including bone-in, boneless, and grilled with wet sauce or dry rub. The menu features appetizers like Irish Nachos and Pretzels with Beer Cheese that pair perfectly with a Guinness. Their burgers can be crafted in classic American or Irish style, such as the Irish Car Bomb topped with fried onions, Jameson barbecue sauce, and more.
We had a great experience at McGrath's tonight! The food was delicious 😋 and the staff was awesome! My husband had the Car Bomb Burger w/ hand-cut fries, and I had the Beer Cheese Burger w/ sweet potato fries... OMG is all I can say. We shared the pretzels w/ beer cheese 🥨 and the fried pickles 🥒... which were SO good! It was so much food for the price and we left w/ leftovers for later. We will definitely be back to try more items! 🍔🌭 (I didn't get a picture of the Car Bomb Burger because my husband was already grubbing. 🤣)

We went for an early dinner and had the place to ourselves for the first 30minutes. The service was great and the food was great! Its a good restaurant for bar foods. Burgers, chicken sandwiches, or hotdogs all looked good. We went with burgers and fries. Wonderful! Thank you for a good dinner and allowing us to enjoy time together.

The best burger I’ve ever had! Semi long wait. But the patties are made to order! Extremely fresh and massive proportions. The fries are homemade and the fry sauce I could drink! 🤤

This is a GREAT place! The waitress was super friendly and patient. The food was great with something for everyone. The mozzarella sticks are SO big and the dipping sauce is so good. Chicken sandwich was delicious with fries loaded with Old Bay (upon request, they have plain fries too). Both people who got bacon cheeseburgers said they might be the best they ever had. My son who never eats his food ate his entire huge hot dog.

Went here with my dad and my uncle and his kids. I had a lovely time! I got the all-American burger, my dad got their jalapeño burger, and loved it SO MUCH! that he got a SECOND burger! he loves loves loves sweet potato fries, and the fact they came with maple syrup was a plus for him! we got the cheese cake, which I was supposed to share, but I devoured it before he could have sum. It was a lovely time, and our waitress was the sweetest. im not from NC, but if we come back here, I definitely want to eat here again it was 100% worth every cent. I love the fact they overcooked by burger when I asked, and it wasn't pink at all. The fries were so big and delicious, and the food was super hot and perfect for my dad. 10/10 I love it, and im definitely come back if I can!

My family had a great first visit here, and already can't wait to return. The service was fantastic, the staff were friendly and happy, and the food was amazing! Seriously, guys-Best tasting burgers we've ever had! What a gem of a place to find.
Danielle C — Google review
We had a nice time visiting this establishment. Upon walking in, we were greeted by a wonderful server who was cracking jokes the whole time, and even took a photo of our group when asked! (A minor detail, we had to share menus, as they didn’t have an enough for each of us to get one, but not a huge deal). The service was quick and the food came out very fast. The highlights were definitely the pretzels with beer cheese, (they were delicious and the cheese was the best I’ve had), the fried pickles, and the pierogis. However, the mozzarella sticks are your basic mozzarella stick, nothing like the menu described. They were also overcooked and very greasy. Based on the reviews, the burger and fries didn’t live up to the hype, either. It was a basic burger, barely any cheese to combat the dry texture, and the bun was too big for the burger itself. The regular fries were very oily, but the sweet potato fries were delightful and well seasoned! Overall, it was a good experience.

Kelly's Outer Banks Catering has been a beloved staple in Nags Head for over three decades, renowned for its seafood-centric American menu and inviting atmosphere. This cherished establishment not only highlights the rich culinary heritage of the area but also emphasizes fresh, local ingredients sourced from nearby waters. With a commitment to supporting local businesses, Kelly's offers an array of family-style meals and individual options that cater to various tastes.
Planning a weeklong large family reunion can be stressful, but Kelly's OBX Catering made our nightly dinners easy and super yummy! They have a robust menu that included multiple vegetarian options to make it easy to plan diverse menus for a whole week's vacation. The food was amazing and kept our entire 40-person family happy and well-fed. Every meal was delivered on time and hot, thanks to the hot box use and our amazingly charming and sweet delivery guy, Mike. Our favorites were the lasagna, fried chicken, hushpuppies, taco bar, and fried & sauteed shrimp. The sweet potato biscuit add-on is a must!! I would highly recommend Kelly's to anyone that is ready to hit the easy button while on vacation.

We hired Kelly’s for the Friday night dinner before our son’s wedding in Kitty Hawk, and they absolutely exceeded every expectation. It was a gathering for our out-of-town guests and the bride’s family, and Kelly’s made it feel like a true celebration from start to finish. The food was phenomenal — perfectly fried chicken, tender pulled pork, creamy mac and cheese, delicious crab puffs, and fresh grilled veggies. The shrimp were a huge hit, and everyone was raving about the key lime pie (honestly one of the best we’ve ever had!) and the rich, fudgy brownies. The Kelly’s team was professional, friendly, and wonderfully accommodating. They made everything seamless so we could simply relax and enjoy time with family and friends. The setup was beautiful, the service was smooth, and the food—simply unforgettable. We can’t thank Kelly’s Catering enough for helping kick off our wedding weekend with such warmth and flavor. Five stars all the way!

If you're looking for a delicious and easy way to feed a large group, check out Kelly's! MaryAnn and the entire team were wonderful. Ordering was easy (with her offering great advice), the food was hot and ready on time, the team at the location pick up were so hospitable, and everyone loved the meal (esp. the fried chicken!). Kelly's is the perfect way to feed a large group with zero stress. I highly recommend them!

I recently booked Kelly's for my wedding reception, and the food was outstanding! Not to mention, the customer service is top tier, the employees who delivered the food were so kind and helpful. Two of my favorite menu items were the spinach puff pastry and the crab cakes - seriously, the crab cakes are to die for, especially with the remoulade. I was planning a wedding from out of state, so it was very stressful, but Kelly's was so helpful in easing any concerns I felt. If you need to have an event catered, choose Kelly's!

We have 18 people in our large extended family staying at a large rented home in Kill Devil Hills. MaryAnn at Kellys helped me get the 1st 3 nights of dinners orchestrated and ordered. Some of our group needed gluten free. MaryAnn was able to assist with the menu to be sure. The food came to us promptly at the time we requested, it was put out on our kitchen island, hot and ready to eat. We did a taco night the 1st night, 2nd night chicken, pulled pork, many sides and goodies, the 3rd night we had the Seafood boil. All of the meals were delicious and leftovers were all eaten by the end of our 6 day stay in the OBX. The delivery people were very friendly and did a great job with set up so we could all dig in right away! Thank you Kellys for the great meals!

Just got back from our week long trip to OBX and we are so happy we went with Kelly’s to cater 5 nights worth of dinners for 8 adults. The food was delicious and the deliveries were always on time! The food came hot and ready to go, serving utensils were also provided! Not having to worry about what was for dinner each night and who is doing the cooking/cleanup, was amazing and made our vacation even that more enjoyable. Thank you Kelly’s for everything! We will be sure to use you again on our next visit to the Outer Banks!

Easy, Great Food, and amazing communication! The only complaint was we didn't order enough hush puppies! ;) This was our best day on vacation. We all were able to relax at the beach longer not worrying about dinner that night for the whole family. The kids and adults all were happy with the food and convenience. We will absolutely do this as a new tradition when in the OBX!

We used Kelly's Catering for a "Families Night Before the Wedding Gathering" Labor Day weekend. Mary Ann at Kelly's was easy and helpful to work with as we crafted the heavy appetizer menu. All menu items were delivered right on time via 2 outstanding staff. The food was attractively presented on disposable trays and platters. All items were delicious, and received a multitude of compliments by our guests. Kelly's was the most responsive when we shopped caterers, most other OBX Caterers were not. Highly recommend Kelly's for your catered event. BTW, Kelly's Restaurant was our go to dining out meal each summer in the OBX from the early 90's to about 2008.
