Park
Robert Moses State Park on Long Island is a stunning Atlantic beach that offers a range of activities for visitors. With its soft sand, good surf, and family-friendly mini-golf course, the park attracts nearly four million visitors annually. It also features picnic areas, playgrounds, fishing piers, and access to the iconic Fire Island Lighthouse. Additionally, there's a nature trail leading to the lighthouse for those seeking picturesque views.
At Robert Moses field 5. There is a nice playground for kiddos, the beach is beautiful. You can also use the wooden path to walk over to the lighthouse. Highly recommend a day at this beach. $8.00 entrance fee or use Empire passport

Ah, the beach ⛱️ 😎 😍 Not only is it the beach, it's a South Shore Ocean Beach 😀 The beach, Robert Moses, is an awesome place to relax, unwind, collect some sun 🌞 see the sights, and get into that Ocean Beach water. The sand is great. It isn't rocky or seaweed infested like a couple of other South Shore beaches. R.M.S.P. is truly a little getaway for a few hours when time permits. I don't often get the opportunity to take a few hours out, but when I am able, I want as much value for my time as I can get. After all time is the most precious commodity. I'm looking forward to the next time that I go.

Beautiful park with a great campground and cabins. Most sites have water access and all have electric. Nice bathrooms and a huge beach. We have camped here many times and are planning another trip.

A hidden gem on Long Island — peaceful, clean, and beautiful! We visited Robert Moses State Park on a Monday, and it was absolutely perfect. The beach was incredibly clean, the ocean was calm and relaxing, and best of all — there were very few people, which made the whole experience feel peaceful and almost private. It’s a wonderful place if you’re looking to escape the city and enjoy nature without the crowds. Right nearby, there’s a beautiful lighthouse you can walk to — and along the way, we found wild blackberries and other delicious berries growing in the sand dunes and bushes. It felt like a little adventure in the middle of summer. Highly recommend this spot for a quiet weekday getaway. Bring a towel, a book, and maybe a container for berries!
Denis B — Google review
I really loved this place! They’re doing an amazing job keeping the beach totally clean, noise free, and smoke free. The restrooms were clean and stocked, they have showers available, food and refreshments available. The sand is so clean and clear water! Definitely coming back.
Karina V — Google review
Great place to visit in summer. Multiple restrooms are available. Changing facilities are great. You can even take shower after you are done in Atlantic so you don’t have to get into your car with all the sands. Definitely I’m going back again in next summer.

Exquisitely natural setting and habitat. Peaceful walk to lighhouse and beach. Very big building with bathrooms. Places to leave bikes. Pedicabs.

Drove on the beach to Democrat Point. Surf casted for a few hours and flew kites. It was a cold day with high winds. The birds were keeping us company! Fun day!

Coopers Beach, located in Southampton Village, is a serene and well-maintained beach with lifeguards on duty. It offers amenities such as snack bars and rentals for chairs and umbrellas, although parking comes at a premium. The beach boasts long stretches of white sand and calm waters, making it an ideal spot for families to enjoy picnics and build sandcastles. Additionally, visitors can marvel at the historic mansions and celebrity homes dotting the coastline.
Cooper’s Beach is absolutely beautiful! One of the most peaceful and well-kept beaches I’ve been to in New York. The sand is soft, the water is super clean, and the whole vibe is just calm and relaxing. Perfect for a day to disconnect and reset your mind. There’s a food shack nearby with decent options, and bathrooms on-site which is always a plus. Parking can be pricey if you’re not a local, but honestly it’s worth it for the scenery and peace.
Jessica R — Google review
A very hazy day when we went, but it was obviously a beautiful beach, with a cafe, food shop. Clean toilets. Sand was great, and plenty of it. Parking is for residents only. We went on a quiet Friday, car park 15% full. We aren’t residents, but parked anyway. We were there 90 minutes without problems. The sand was beautiful. The fine is $250 if caught.
Grahame — Google review
Great beach, very clean, family friendly and the water was clean and cold on a hot summer day. Highly recommend. I will be returning before the summer ends.
Andrew R — Google review
Real Review – Vibes Were Everything (but not for everyone) This might be the best beach in New York when it comes to vibes — totally different from our usual spot at Rockaway. It felt like a mini escape! Was a 2 hour drive from us. The beach is beautiful: super clean water with those clear green-blue tones (gave me Florida vibes), and the sand is soft and white. No trash anywhere, which was really nice to see. We went on Saturday, July 26, and the bathrooms were super clean though I will say the women’s line was long and slow. Waited 20 mins in line so we just changed by our car. Definitely think they should have more stalls for the women compared to the men. The showers were quick and convenient, which was a plus. Now for the vibe… it’s the Hamptons, so not gonna lie, I felt a little out of place. A lot of the people there seemed like they had money, and while most were nice, there were definitely some rude/snobby types too. I kept my music low just to not get side-eyed 😅. The only real downside was the $55 parking, which felt steep and it’s card only, no cash. Would’ve been nice to know that in advance. Everyone was pricey there, was glad I brought my own tent and food. Overall, it’s a hit-or-miss depending on the crowd that day, but we still had a good time and would probably go back before summer ends but maybe a big group to split the parking lol
Jasangelis M — Google review
Awesome beach with clean facilities and great vibes. White sandy shores along beautiful mansions on Dune Road. Recently ranked #1 beach in America! $40 a day for parking. Well worth it!
Phil P — Google review
Good for sunbathing & family time with unconnected humanity around. Beautiful, clean beach with near-white sand. We've come across genteel groups of people on all visits. Not crowded. Lifeguards are vigilant on lookout platform throughout active hours. Beach Cafe is the lone food-for-purchase option. It's a limited menu, hence carrying your beach-day fare is preferred option. Comfortable lounge chairs and umbrellas are available in abundance and the smart young lads insist on delivery & pickup of these foldable furniture at your beach spot. Uniformity of "Coopers' Blue" furniture setup adds to visual charm. Worth noting that the chairs are low and anyone with knee trouble should bring their own furniture arrangement. Rip current warning is always in force; not an adventure swimming-surfing destination. Not cool aspects: No change rooms provisioned in this self-styled #1 beach of the country. Doesn't rise up to Hamptons (or New York) standards. Parking for non-residents is advertised at $50 but $55 are charged on spot. Likewise, lounge chairs are advertised at $15 but $16 charged, Same for cash in either case. The beach is pet free but, on a recent weekend, one super patron had their golden retriever prancing around, unleashed (well behaved but definitely wasn't on guide duty). During this same visit, a couple were smoking blunts, unchecked; shifting the responsibility of 50' perimeter on other beach goers (and, Southampton beaches are smoke-free!).

Jones Beach State Park is a popular destination that attracts over six million visitors annually. The park features a 6.5-mile stretch of white-sand beach along the Atlantic Ocean, offering various activities such as swimming, sunbathing, surfing, paddle boarding, and kayaking. Visitors can also enjoy amenities like waterfront boardwalks, nature trails through pine forests, bathhouses, lifeguard towers, swimming pools, concession stands with ocean views and picnic areas.
Overall a nice beach.. depending on which lot you park, there is a bit of a walk from the parking lot to the water, so be ready for that. The sand is mostly soft and the water is clean andnit wasn't as cold as I thought it would be being that is mid June. They charge 10$ to get inside but sometimes if you go later in the day they might not change anymore..
Ruth P — Google review
What a difference from when I was growing up. Jones Beach has gone through a reformation. There’s still construction taking place. However, the boardwalk is smooth and wide. There are restaurants and wild play activities. This is a great place for families, couples, friends or just to visit for self reflection.
Sharon M — Google review
Just recently visited Jones Beach State Park, and we were pleasantly surprised by how good the surf was! We weren’t expecting much, but the waves really delivered. Clean sets, decent size, and just the right amount of challenge for intermediate surfers. The beach itself is beautiful and well-maintained, with plenty of space to spread out and enjoy the sun. The atmosphere was relaxed, and even though it was a popular spot, it never felt overcrowded. Parking was convenient, and the facilities were clean and accessible. Overall, Jones Beach gave us a perfect day of sun, surf, and good vibes. Definitely worth checking out if you’re into surfing or just want a great beach day on Long Island. We’ll absolutely be back!

We visited the beach early for the baseball field, but found many cars had parked inside. We realized that for Memorial Day Weekend their annual air show took priority and much of the parking spots were already filled. There were a few airplanes roaming around - most were a bit far away. There was a helicopter and jeep with military people available explaining their equipment. Parking spot 2 was best to keep quiet from the constant announcements, but still have access to the airplanes

We just visited **Robert Moses Beach** at Jones Beach to celebrate the 20th anniversary of when we first met (our actual wedding anniversary comes later). The day was unforgettable. There was thunder, lightning, and heavy rain at times, but it didn’t matter — we went to the beach anyway, and it turned out to be magical. There was even a wedding and an engagement happening in the middle of the storm, and somehow it all added to the beauty of the day. By the end, the weather calmed down, and it was simply stunning. The beach itself is clean and peaceful, so different from the New York City beaches, which can be pretty unpleasant. Overall, it was an amazing experience at a beach that truly feels special. Highly recommend!
Mrs. R — Google review
Every summer, this is my favorite place to go and watch the airshow — it's become a tradition I truly look forward to. The view is absolutely perfect for watching the planes soar by, and there’s an incredible energy in the air that makes the whole experience unforgettable. Whether you’re a longtime fan of airshows or just looking for a fun and unique summer outing, this spot never disappoints. There’s plenty of space to relax, enjoy a picnic, and take in the sights with friends or family. The sound of the jets, the stunts, and the overall atmosphere are just amazing.
Nathalie G — Google review
Beach was clean and seemed well taken care of. Perfect place to take the family. It's even great if you're looking for somewhere to simply relax and enjoy the scenery. It has a play ground which also includes a tennis court. You can also find restaurants and various little stores along the boardwalk.
Natasha P — Google review
I visited Field 6 last year with a friend and had a great time, so I decided to return this summer with someone new. Things were different this time. I arrived early (around 9 a.m.) and found a good spot near the water, but the beachfront area was already completely taken. I relied on the umbrella rentals, but they didn’t open until almost 11 a.m., so I had to buy umbrellas from the shop instead. Unfortunately, both had defects and needed to be exchanged, which was frustrating. By mid-afternoon (after 3 p.m.), the beach became extremely crowded, and the atmosphere felt very different compared to last year. On the positive side, the bathrooms are impressively clean considering the heavy traffic of visitors — they have many stalls and are well maintained. Parking is also spacious and convenient. Overall, I’d recommend arriving early and bringing absolutely everything you might need with you, because relying on rentals or the nearby shop can complicate the experience. Personally, I don’t think I’d return, but I still tried to make the best of it with my friend.

Sunken Meadow State Park is a family-friendly destination with 3 miles of beach, a golf course, hiking trails, and a boardwalk. Callahans Beach within the park is popular among town residents and their visitors, offering amenities like lifeguards, first-aid station, restrooms, outdoor showers, playground, picnic area, and campground. The park's golf courses designed by Alfred Tull provide a unique experience for golfers of all levels.
This was a beautiful place to walk by the water and feel the sense of calm that water provides. I remember seeing benches by the parking lot, a staircase down to get to the sand, and people with their pets and/friends. It was lovely to visit and I would return again. I didn't need a restroom so I cannot comment on it. Enjoy your time there if you have the opportunity.
Jaime M — Google review
We love this park and have been going for years. There is a nice boardwalk and plenty of parking. We were happy to see signs posted for no loud music on the beach because sometimes on weekends it can be loud. We prefer weekday trips there. They are also starting to post their summer beach yoga program. Additionally there are some areas closed for endangered species of birds for those bird lovers. No pets are allowed and bikes on the Boardwalk are only allowed before 9 am.
Lauren C — Google review
Beautiful park with great trails & an outstanding beach. The trails are well maintained and the beach is very clean. It is a rocky/shell beach do keep that in mind but it’s less crowded than the south shore beaches.
M K — Google review
Excellent clean beach with lots of parking and restrooms. Nice boardwalk along the beach. Clean calm water of Northern Long Island. The only one drawback the beach has lots of small beach pebbles which may be annoying to step on. But it’s a minor flaw. Overall, a great beach and park for the entire family.
Kosta R — Google review
Sunken Meadow is a beautiful state park located on the north shore of Long Island. It has a boardwalk with stunning views of the sound, hiking trails through the wetlands, and a number of athletic fields. We visited for a cross country event this morning. It was eight dollars to enter the park and the price was worth every penny. This place is beautiful!
A R — Google review
The weather was perfect for a walk and the trails were peaceful and scenic. Great place to enjoy nature and get some fresh air. Just be mindful of ticks this time of year; worth taking a few precautions.
Lisa A — Google review
There is a lot going on at this park. For 1 it has a beach on the other side which is gorgeous. They managed to keep it overall clean especially the benches, patios, and the restaurant quarters. They have binoculars you can use for 25 cents at a time for about 5 minutes or so to look far into the abyss. Be careful though about the sand because it does get pretty hot during the day. I would also recommend not walking on the pier with bare feet because you may get tetanus which is hard to treat. There are several parking lots located all around the park which have several hundreds of spots for you to park. You also have access to grills in the forest and nature areas which are perfect to bbq and picnic. The hills are oddly shaped to be honest but pretty fun regardless. The roads are also creased with several flaps so make sure if you’re riding with a bike or scooter you may encounter several obstacles. There is an area in the middle of the park where you can host several events like an annual gathering or a family reunion but it’s on a first come first serve basis. The nature walks are awesome because you have lakes and ponds to explore, wildlife to marvel at and the skyline looks beautiful during sunset. The park does close roughly around 8 PM or so on the weekends but may stay longer during the weekdays. I also do recommend being plenty of bug spray, mesh nets or a zapper because you will encounter plenty of mosquitoes and flies. There are also areas to be weary of ticks as they are super small and difficult to spot. The park is perfect for nature outdoor activities and communing with nature. I went on several bbqs and picnics with my mosque from sunnyside and my family and we had the best time of our lives. Playground sets around for the kids and posts set up for volleyball if need be. There are park rangers patrolling around to make sure everyone is safe and secure and to ensure nobody is messing around with anything. Lifeguards on standby at the beach with even flags to guide and limit the exposure to the beach tides and waves. Despite knowing how to swim you can’t match up against the earth natural forces thus the barriers and faculty to ensure everything is compliant.
Yvngumar — Google review
Seems nice BUT $8 bucks to get in, no swimming, no pets barely any people except for students and families getting dingged for dropping off and picking up their kids. I'm better off going to all the other free parks in LI with more flexible amenities.

Orient Beach State Park is a 363-acre park that juts into Gardiners Bay and curves back toward Shelter Island. It's a popular spot for kayaking, cycling, fishing, picnicking, and birdwatching. The park offers limited parking at smaller beaches for those with Southold parking stickers. Visitors can enjoy the bay beachfront, saltwater marsh, and maritime forest while engaging in activities like kayaking, windsurfing, fishing, and swimming.
What a beautiful state park, with clean bathrooms and showers, and a small concession stand. Plenty of shaded picnic areas with tables and grills at your disposal. Gorgeous kayaking opportunities! Ample parking. Had a blast kayaking and picnicking here the whole day.

An excellent park located on the north fork of long island. this park offers multiple scenic, bird trails along beautifully maintained paths. Park itself is well maintained with multiple picnic areas and sports facilities for people to utilize. There are multiple restrooms for people to use and kayak and canoe rentals. There are multiple signs listed at pets are not welcome. However, during the off-season there was nobody enforcing this just saying. Over a wonderful experience the park closes at 4 PM.
Andrew S — Google review
This beach is exactly what we were looking for. It’s one of the few beaches you can park at in the North Fork if you don’t have the village permit. You pay $10 to enter the park and then have a beautiful short drive along the water. The beach is quite rocky but beautiful and quiet - there were only 3 families there when we were there. There are easily accessible bathrooms, a couple swings and slides for the kids and lots of picnic tables in the shade of you wanted to bring lunch from the Orient General Store.

Another great park and beach near the very end of the North Fork of Long Island. And not too crowded. Took a walk through the nature trail and saw a few deer.

Park & beach is beautiful. The lifeguard Joseph was so very helpful when I inquired to rent an umbrella for shade for my 90-year-old aunt whose favorite place is Orient State Park. There are no umbrellas for rent. Lifeguard Joseph was so kind as to set up one of his umbrellas for my aunt so she may sit on the bench with shade. Thank you again for your act of kindness to us!! Also, Mary at the gift shop is a gem! Thank you to all #nysparksdepartment

This is a really nice state park, especially out East. In my honest opinion, Montauk is overrated meanwhile here at Orient Point is another great place to go when out East (as a Long Islander). You have a lot of picnic areas with shade, and tables with grills. Parking wasn't a problem. The beach is pretty long, lots of walking plus biking if you wanted to. In the area, there are a lot of good restaurants. Overall, really nice area plus beach especially for families.

Nature & Parks
Hither Hills State Park is a coastal haven featuring a vast campground, sandy dunes, and various recreational facilities. The park's diverse landscape includes rolling dunes, woodlands, and scenic trails perfect for activities like hiking and birdwatching. Nearby Camp Hero State Park offers rugged bluffs, tidal pools, and historical intrigue. Montauk's reputation as the 'Fishing Capital of the World' draws fishing enthusiasts seeking striped bass, fluke, and bluefish.
Hither Hills is a favorite of ours. It is quiet and peaceful when we go in April. The beach is beautiful but eroded from last year. The bathrooms and showers are a plus. The town has an IGA where you can pick up groceries. White's drug store has whatever else you may need plus a gift shop. There are numerous restaurants to choose from. At times, the sound of the waves at night is so soothing it lulls me to sleep. There is a nice picnic area with tables and barbecues and a great playground.

Easily our favorite beach in the Hamptons. $10/day parking, super clean bathrooms, snack bar, lifeguards after Labor Day.
Taylor N — Google review
Beautiful beach with a campground and all the facilities necessary.
Jana S — Google review
Hither hills campground. I have to say one of the best bathrooms I've ever seen at a campground. They also have family bathrooms and super large showers 😜.No pull string water control is the best. There's a nice size playground for the kids or big adults. All the sites are back in. There is no privacy between sites and every site is completely open.Everyone is very friendly. They actually have a general store that sells beer. They sell wood at the main office $7 a bundle. It was worth it . On the back side of the main office building they have air fill up the station. If you're coming back from wheeling this is nice. From where we camped we were literally on the other side of the dune to the beach. There are no hookups so you have to be self-contained. There are water spickets around the campgrounds. So if you do pick a site that is close to one of these water stations you might get some extra foot traffic near your site. Something to think about when choosing a spot. We really had a great time and you're only 10 minutes away from town which was also very nice. We will definitely be returning.
Joey — Google review
Nice quiet camping with the sound of the ocean as a constant background. The wind off the ocean was pretty consistent but not enough to drive off the mosquitos. This place is more popular with RV camping but you can set up two tents (but no more! Despite the presence of house-sized RVs, you're not allowed more than two tents and they'll absolutely make you take them down if you try). There aren't tall trees so no hammocks or overhead tarping are likely to happen. Bathrooms are clean. Showers are free and warm. There's a general store. During the day, the beach is full of people.
Joe P — Google review
This campground is amazing. I love falling asleep to the sound of the waves. Every once in a while with the nake eye you can see whales and dolphins. The campers are courtesy, respectful and helpful.
Daniel F — Google review
If you love boondock camping and the beach, Hither Hills State Park campground is the perfect combination of both. Nestled off Old Montauk Highway, the campsites are spacious with easy access to the beach just over the sand dunes. Clean toilets and showers are within short walking distance from each site. A general store is onsite with basic necessities and a grill for quick breakfast/lunch items. Beware and reserve 6-9 months in advance of your trip during peak summer season which requires a minimum stay of 7 days. Also plan for limited cellphone service. But once you’re here, relax by your tent or camper, sleep on the beach, or explore the surrounding villages east or west of the park. We’re hoping to make this an annual place to visit! The camp office staff was very helpful throughout our stay specially Jeanny who gave us a lot of guidance and recommendations since it was our first time in the area!

Cupsogue Beach County Park, located in Brookhaven, is a picturesque beachfront park with powdery white sand beaches perfect for swimming and bass fishing. The 296-acre preserve extends from Fire Island to Westhampton Island and features simple facilities like toilets, showers, changing rooms, and a concession stand. Camping is allowed with a permit.
Lifeguards are on duty. The beach is clean. The waves were fun to play in. It does cost $18 to park (summer of 2025). Hide your food because the seagulls are aggressive and opportunistic. There are showers for rinsing the sand off and public restrooms that are clean. There is a little shop that sells a few souvenirs and sunscreen but the sunscreen is really expensive, bring your own.

Beautiful and clean beach with soft sand and crystal clear water. Easy access, plenty of space to relax, and not too crowded. Great spot for a summer day getaway. Loved the walk from the parking area (18$) to the shore — feels like a little adventure!

The drive there is torture 25 mph. I could walk there faster. Nothing special about this beach. Long Beach is much nicer and so are many others on Long Island.

Nicest beach in the east coast. Clean. We'll run. Good food at tiki Joe's and live music sometimes. The music is not always that great and is an annoyance when you just want to sit quietly by the ocean. But the beach is gigantic and if your legs work well you can find a peaceful spot down towards the breakwater and inlet. Good fishing and even camping. Can't say enough how great this beach is. Sometimes we go late and enjoy the sunset (behind you as you face the sea) and if lucky the moon rise. One of the most amazing occurrences. É

Cupsogue Beach on the East End is one of my favorite spots! It’s dog-friendly, which makes it even better. The parking lot is close by, so it’s just a quick walk to the sand and an even quicker walk to the ocean. There’s a tiki bar with food and drinks, plus a gift shop for little extras. Parking is $9 with a Green Pass or $18 without. A great place to relax, enjoy the water, and bring your pup along too!

Great beach, but the snack bar has no management and forgot to enter our order, along with two other people. Wasted over an hour, only to get an oh well, too bad response. I know hard to find good help, but the apathy was really disheartening. Next time we will bring lunch with us.

Main Beach in East Hampton is a renowned and exclusive destination, offering a more private and secluded beach experience compared to other popular spots in Long Island. The pristine shoreline, white sand beaches, and amenities such as lifeguards, restrooms, showers, a beach pavilion, and snack bar make it an ideal choice for visitors seeking relaxation. While the parking fee may be steep for some at $30 per day, the litter-free environment and occasional celebrity sightings make it worth the price.
One of my favorite beaches in Long Island just a heads up on the parking you will need to park at the Local YMCA and get a free shuttle to the beach if you don’t have a membership for the parking.

Idk why I wanted to try different beaches, while got state park beaches nearby and only 8$, especially free for me with the empire pass, came here 15$ for a such long walk, and dirty beach, most expensive but worst beach seen this summer. sand looks like mud. I wonder if still have to pay if just for the playground. anyway have to pay first to go to parking.

Visited this beach off-season in mid-winter and was quite impressed with picturesque landscape. Beach’s depth is pretty deep comparing to neighboring LI beaches (Jones Beach, Fire Island, Coney Island). Parts of the beach were inundated and it created some interesting walk paths around flooded areas (might have been more fun to cross them in summer time).

Nice place outdated bathrooms.Definitely need renovation 2 a broken only one toilet worked, one was backed up.One had a out of order sign on it. For who knows how long. Only one washing machine for clothes and two dryers. Seemed odd where's the second washing machine. Lol. The grounds playing and boring. I thought Nassau County can do better. It's to the beach were locked up. End of season coming. The staff was very nice.
Brian F — Google review
This beautiful beach is one of many on the island, and we chose to visit this one mainly based on the parking cost, which was $15 for Nassau County residents and $37 for other visitors. It's cheaper compared to other nearby beaches that charge up to $50 for parking. A small hut was located near the entrance to the beach, with bathrooms and showers in decent conditions and a small kiosk selling hot dogs, fries, nachos and beverages. That was the only place to actually buy food or drinks as there was nothing else on the beach, not even a small vendor selling chilled sodas from a cool box. That goes for any other amenities as well - you have to bring everything (and also take everything out with you) you'd need for a day, including sunbrella (as there is zero shade and no rentals), seats or refreshments. The beach itself had two watchtowers with lifeguards on duty, allowing swimming in a relatively wide section of the beach. However, there were signs warning of rip currents, and most people stayed close to the shore anyway. The water was clean but not very clear, with some seaweed floating around. The sand was amazing—white-ish, smooth, and powdery— so be prepared to bring some of it home stuck to your feet. I was able to find some shells around, but not many. Even though there were many people on a hot, sunny Sunday afternoon, the beach didn't feel crowded, and people generally behaved well, with no excessive noise or loud music. This beach is also a good spot for birdwatching, especially near the dunes where there are fenced areas for nesting birds. However no pets or dogs are allowed on the beach or in the dunes. Despite the beach park advertising a dog park, you still need to pay for parking to enter it, which doesn't make much sense to me. Visited on a Sunday, July 2023. Paid by card.

Ditch Plains Beach is a popular destination known for its excellent surfing and swimming opportunities. The beach boasts seasonal lifeguards, making it a safe spot for water activities. Situated near Montauk, the beach is framed by impressive cliffs and offers stunning panoramic views. Visitors can bask in the sun on the clean sandy shores or take a refreshing dip in the ocean. The area is also favored by surfers who come to ride the long breaks along the sparkling shoreline.
Ditch Plains Beach is a must-visit spot in Montauk! The beach offers excellent surfing and bodyboarding with some of the best waves on Long Island. The views are stunning, and the atmosphere is perfect for a relaxing day by the water. Pros: Ample parking available Bike rack for those who prefer cycling Clean restrooms on-site Cons: It can get crowded during peak season, but it's worth it! Ditch Plains Beach is a fantastic destination for beach lovers and surf enthusiasts. Don't miss out on this gem!

Don't bother !!! These so-called Cliffs are nothing more than some walkway that eroded. Actually quite sad, proof that the beach is slowly eroding. Someone wrote that this beach is a public beach. We came on a cloudy day, just to walk and see and ended up with a $150.00 ticket. We checked the time, they wrote it out 8 minutes before we returned to our car. So no it is not a public beach. Unless you have a permit you can not park here. On top of that, the only signs that say that you need a permit are on the side parking spots, we parked in the middle, where there were no signs. We thought it was ok since there was no sign designating otherwise. They have a sign for vendors to park, for handicap, and for residents all on the side parking spots but nothing in the middle. Except for a dead groundhog. Don't bother making the trip !!

Awesome beach, great for surfing! Though the lifeguards think otherwise. I completely understand why they are there, but their attitude towards my group was completely unacceptable. Staring at us when walking by, and being verbally rude to us, WHEN WE ARE JUST TRYING TO HAVE A GOOD TIME AND SURF! We weren’t even in the swimmers zone, and they just swam to me and my group and told us we aren’t allowed to surf, though there were hundreds of other surfers around us and we were as good as them. We were causing no danger whatsoever, not even cutting off surfers while riding the waves! Just peacefully on our surf boards waiting for the next good wave. The lifeguard chair was waaaay out of our sight (they were in the swimmers zone!). They must have had a pretty bad day because they let out all their anger on us! I tried calling the beach over the phone, nobody picked up. I really hope ditch plains beach can really DITCH these rude lifeguards.

Great place to go and have a fun family day ... Bad part is if you don't live in the town, they don't even let you pay a 1 day fee to enter now. There are workarounds if you use your brain I went there for over 10 years with my kids on the weekends, and it's just a great Old school park your car, walk 30 ft & go to the beach. Relax See the water from any place there and enjoy life. Rocky beach for sure, bring water shoes or old sneakers and watch a sunset and be happy your alive Long Island costs a lot of money to live here and some people say it's overpriced, but I can tell you if you don't live on a coast, a lot of people have to jump on a plane, to have access to this kinda place I'm not saying it's turks and caicos by no means, but if you live on Long Island and you don't find hidden gems like this then move dont pay the taxes and jump on a plane and go on vacation to have a great beach day

Jones Beach is a popular seaside attraction featuring 6.5 miles of ocean beach, a bustling central area, and a lively boardwalk. It hosts the annual Bethpage Airshow on Memorial Day Weekend, drawing hundreds of thousands of spectators to see fighter jets in action. The beach offers pristine white sand and ample space for visitors to find quieter spots away from the crowds. Additionally, it serves as an important biome for marine biodiversity and provides protection from extreme weather for inland ecosystems and human infrastructure.

I visited Jones Beach with my cousin and had such a great time. It’s the perfect escape from the city and accessible thanks to the LIRR trains, beautiful, wide sandy beaches, super clean, and with that refreshing ocean breeze that instantly makes you feel relaxed. The boardwalk is great for walking or just people-watching, and there are plenty of spots to grab a snack or just sit and enjoy the view. The beach is well-maintained, and even when it’s busy, it doesn’t feel overcrowded. The water was clean and surprisingly warm during our visit. County park’s parking lot is a convenient starting point to explore Fire Island wilderness area whose visitor center has only few handicapped parking spots. 18$ parking fee looks a bargain comparing to Hamptons or NYC beaches (but state parks like Jones Beach or Robert Moses offer much lower price point). Beach facilities and vibe of the beach with its live music entertainment at the restaurant made the visit more memorable comparing to rest of LI south shore barrier island beaches.

Clean beach and nice place to bring family to enjoy. The only thing is, people shouldn't be charged if the beach is being closed due to a thunderstorm. They should let people know about it before charging. The other day, our daughter was coming to join us, and then the lifesavers started telling all the people to get our the water and them leaving early because the storm was approaching very fast. We were leaving when we met our daughter in the parking area. The person at the entrance didn't say anything to hear about the beach being closed and was still charging while watching everybody leaving.

Pretty nice beach ⛱️, clean, not alot of people in September. Bathrooms 🚽 and showers are the cleanest I've ever seen at a beach. The 9-11 memorial is nicely done 👍, although I'm not sure it does anything useful for the victims and families other than remind them about our unwillingness to bring anyone to justice, especially when we do eagerly go after our own citizens for crimes nowhere near as horrific. Anytime a Government is more worried about diplomatic relations over American citizens, that's a problem..... unless said government knew about it to begin with.......which then makes it even more shocking. Other than that it's a really nice place with mega parking spots and calm beautiful views.

This is a family beach, it's small compared to other beaches. Very crowded but people were very respectful, no blasting music, it's not the place for it. I think there were about 2000 people, 1200 of them were teens. The kids played their radios but with complete respect. No yelling. You have to belong to the township to get in.

My and my daughters and families new favorite beach... the only beach we plan on ever going to for summers to come! The bayside is our new favorite place now! With the restaurant, the calm warm water, the gorgeous scenery, the live music every Saturday, the family environment... it’s clean, it’s family oriented... it’s our new secret hideaway! WE LOVE IT HERE... our every weekend getaway!!! Every Sunday we are here... it’s perfection only 10 minutes from home <3

Mother's Day trip to the beach. Bathrooms were open even if the lifeguards weren't on duty and the concessions were still closed. The beach itself has been well maintained even with erosion being bad over the last few years.

New York City, with its 5 boroughs at the meeting point of the Hudson River and the Atlantic Ocean, is a bustling metropolis. Manhattan stands out as a densely populated hub for commerce, finance, and culture, featuring iconic landmarks like the Empire State Building and Central Park. The city's rich history is preserved in neighborhoods like Brooklyn Heights, which was designated as New York's first historic district in 1965 after extensive community lobbying.

Kirk Park Beach is a picturesque white-sand beach located near the center of Montauk. Despite its proximity to shops and restaurants, the beach offers a serene escape with its expansive golden shores stretching over 500 feet. During the summer season, vigilant lifeguards ensure safety while visitors can access bathroom and shower facilities year-round. The convenient location near hotels and free parking make it a popular spot for sunbathing and swimming, offering tranquil waters perfect for family outings.
This could possibly be one of the cleanest and prettiest beaches I have ever been too. Being from Brooklyn I am used to all kinds of debris (especially glass) on the sand when visiting Coney Island. I could see that this beach is very well maintained. The only thing you have to look out for is either Jellyfish or High Tide while either lying out or just walking on the sand. I was staying at a nearby motel, so I didn't have to deal with the parking situation, which I hear is pretty steep. I will definitely come here again the next time I am in the area.
Lisa S — Google review
The beach was clean, which really should just be what it is and not whether or not. The parking is $38 with only full day parking options. Nothing cheaper by the hour or anything. That amount is just predatory.

Nice beach in town! Lifeguards were present until 5pm.

Flat and sandy with the waves breaking at the shore (no body surfing unless you like the taste of sand). Best beach for lawn games like spike ball. On the less populated side for the area. Park nearby closer to town to avoid the parking fee.

We were here to see the ocean and more importantly the awesome waves created by Hurricane Erin as it was passing by the coast. Beautiful experience being here.

Nice beach quiet swimming lifeguard on duty nice place if you can't swim with the stars you can go here no parking permit needed. Sandy Beach plenty of parking rate down here not busy today it's a Monday but if you came all this way and you're hot and itching for a place to swim turn on the country music strip down and take a splash

Such great beaches! I love to come here in the day or night. When it's dark it's so beautiful. I would recommend bringing bug spray even though there aren't so many plants around which usually attract more bugs. Parking is so easy and even if you have to park down the street you will have a nice walk there.

Wildwood State Park, located on Long Island Sound, offers a 2-mile beach, hiking trails, and a hardwood forest. The sprawling 600-acre park includes a campground and various amenities for families to enjoy weekend getaways. The Wildwood State Park Loop Trail is perfect for hiking enthusiasts. Campers can expect accessible drinking water spigots and well-maintained bathrooms with free showers. Each campsite comes with its own picnic table and is just a short walk from the Long Island Sound.
Fun and inexpensive camping site. Bathroom is pretty dirty by the end of the day but gets cleaned every morning so not too bad. We went on a summer weekend so it was very packed but it was still really fun. Saw deer and groundhog. The beach was pretty nice. There are also basketball courts and a little store that rents fire pits and wood on site. Plus nearby there’s a farm where you can pick your own fruits and veggies! We loved it overall.
Alison R — Google review
We enjoyed our weekend here. The campground is clean and well maintained. There is lots to do although we had a short stay and didn’t get to take full advantage of all there was. The only downside is this is NOT a dog friendly campground/park which was disappointing.
Cindy B — Google review
1,5h from Manhattan. Car fee $10. Gift shop, barbeque areas, restrooms. No pets allowed on the beech. The park has 2 miles of beach on the Long Island sound for fishing and swimming. Each campsite has a picnic table, and dumping stations are nearby. There are 10 cottages, each with a fire ring, screened-in patio, and are available for rent through mid-November. Other amenities include food concessions, a nature trail, twelve miles of marked hiking trails, a picnic area, basketball courts, ball fields, a playground, and showers. Firewood is for sale at the park; bring your own barbecue or metal fire container.
Nikola J — Google review
I liked it a lot, I have been there several times, especially my children had a lot of fun playing at the playground. In addition, there is a sea there, there are many beautiful picnic areas, good parking facilities and adequate rest rooms. The peaceful atmosphere touched my heart ♥️
Ayesha B — Google review
Don’t be like us and make sure you read the fine print. I glossed over the fact that these campsites do not have a fire pit and that you need to either bring one or rent one. $12 a night, $20 cash only deposit so we had to go across the street view o Niks deli to get cash. Very happy with the campsite that we picked because it was towards the end of a loop so we only really had the neighbor to the back of us which we were able to kind of block off with our tent/gazebo pop-up. There’s not much blockage from trees in any of the other areas so everybody is basically just next to each other which isn’t an ideal but just choose your site wisely! The bathrooms were very well maintained and very stocked with toilet paper, very clean. The walk to the beach is a little bit of a hike if you’re going with a bunch of stuff because you literally can only walk up and down and it’s steep going back up. Just good to know before hand. The water is kind of gross obviously it’s Long Island but the scenery was breathtaking and the sunset was amazing I don’t know that I would go again just because of how on top of each other all of the campsites are with no real blockage from each other but nonetheless it was a great trip and a very beautiful area
Cristina P — Google review
I like the place! Quiet and not crowded without music (hope , everyone is coming here to relax with nature sounds). There is a play ground, restrooms near the barbecue area. The picnic area is well maintained with the garbage can, barbecue, tables. A lot. Beach area has bathrooms with the sink to wash the shoes. The beach is not big, but lovely place.

Was in section E, cute - private. The park itself is really beautiful, my main issue was the bathrooms…. The park was EMPTY… Give or take maybe 20 occupants. There was no reason for the bathroom nearby to be that disgusting 🤢 otherwise everything else was good! Employees were nice :)

One of the best camping options within a 2 hour drive of Brooklyn. Well maintained, friendly staff, and clean facilities. The bluffs and the beach are truly beautiful, but the trials are also not to be missed. Take the long route, you won’t regret it. Camp here!

Shinnecock East County Park is a hidden gem that offers an unspoiled beach experience where the Atlantic Ocean meets Shinnecock Inlet. This rugged, undeveloped park is perfect for those looking to escape the hustle and bustle of more commercialized beaches. While traditional tent camping isn't allowed, self-contained campers can enjoy one of the 100 outer-beach sites in their RVs or vehicles.
This park is good for 4*4 off-roading on the beach since sand is full of small stones compared to cupsogue beach county park. Park is great for fishing, and the best time to visit is in winter or early spring. It seems like some renovation is going on at the park entrance.

3 stars explained at the end..Camping on the beach over labor day weekend was great. No hook ups so you have to fill your fresh water tanks and have a generator running. The bayside is calm and tranquil people love fishing off the rocks. The ocean side is beautiful. Its my favorite beach on the island. It is deep into suffolk county but well worth the drive. You get some of the most gorgeous Sunsets.. The 3 stars is from the beach and camping area being closed down or the limited access granted because of the idiots that can not follow rules when the piping Plovers are nesting and hatching. The county should go after and punish the idiots that can not follow basic instructions like saying of the dunes... Stop punishing the vast majority becuase of the small small small minority..

Very poorly run and managed. They canceled our site days before our trip only to say that it wasn't guaranteed. What a disappointment. Terrible customer service. They hung up on me twice while I was trying to get information about my reservation. You have to make two reservations to make sure you can stay here.

Nice beach. Few people there. Looks like the best kept secret. It is a County park, so not subjected to the crazy prices of the Hamptons. Clean beach but rough waves. Looks like amazing for surfing (that I do not do) or just chill and have fun by the nice sand. Parking $7 for residents with Green Key or $15 for visitors. Very reasonable.

Andy S — Google review
Orchard Beach: The Bronx’s Best-Kept Breezy Secret If you’ve ever wanted to escape the sand-scorched, shade-deprived chaos of Rockaway or Coney Island, Orchard Beach is your quiet rebellion. Small, quaint, and blessedly quiet, it’s the kind of place where you can hear your own thoughts, and not just someone’s Bluetooth speaker three towels over. There’s sand, yes, but also grass, actual grass! And shade. Real, leafy, glorious shade. Trees that don’t just exist for decoration, but for salvation. I didn’t know how much I missed sitting under a tree until Orchard Beach reminded me that sunburn isn’t a personality trait. The concessions? Surprisingly solid. Think beach-worthy bites that won’t make you regret your life choices. Burgers, fries, ice cream, and even a few curveballs that feel like someone actually thought about what beachgoers want. The staff? Friendly, patient, and somehow unfazed by the existential chaos of summer crowds. I asked for extra sauce and as a bonus I got a smile instead of a sigh - miraculous. Now, let’s talk history. Orchard Beach was born in the 1930s, a Robert Moses brainchild that stitched together islands with landfill to create the Bronx’s only public beach. It opened in 1937 with a bathhouse, a cafeteria, and enough locker space for 5,400 people. At its peak, it could host 100,000 bathers. That’s not a typo. One hundred thousand. The beach was so grand, it earned the nickname “Bronx Riviera,” which is both accurate and aspirational. And the future? Oh, it’s looking good. The iconic bathhouse pavilion, closed for years, is getting a $100 million glow-up. Think restored terrazzo floors, blue terracotta tiles, and ramps that actually make the place accessible. There’s even a new maintenance and operations building with solar panels and a green roof, completed ahead of schedule and under budget (a New York miracle). So yes, Orchard Beach is having a renaissance. And I, for one, am here for it. Come for the shade, stay for the history, and leave with a sun-kissed soul and a stomach full of fries.
Maciek M — Google review
Don't ever get in the water and unfortunately the bathrooms are DISGUSTING 😑 I was born and raised in The Bronx and have been living in Jersey for 20 years. But I go to Orchard Beach every summer at least once to stay grounded and reminisce. The boardwalk and beach is fine. Handball and basketball courts are great. I think this last Summer trip of 2025 will be my last visit 😔
Debra T — Google review
Nice to see some wild life at the front part of the bbq area. Music is just out of control with people competing to hear their own at the beach and the bbq are as well. Best to visit during the week when is less crowded. Restrooms are far away, therefore people end up doing their business in the bushes or the beach which is disgusting.
Patricia M — Google review
Good to go during week days. Less people, less noice and relaxing place. When there are no lifeguard, it is no swimming, red flags you cannot go inside the water.
Elisos — Google review
Even though the sign says the park closes at 8:00 PM, the park employees begin to rush people to get out of the sand at 6:30 PM even with sirens, I understand that maybe you want to go home early but that is a job and has its schedule, also the police if you are in the BBQ area of the park at 7:15 they start threatening to give out $95 tickets if you don’t leave the park, but the sign clearly says the park closes at 8. I am going to report this to the city, and on social media, almost all of us pay taxes and have our rights. If someone is in the park at 8:01 PM, give them tickets and that’s it without pressure for the people who go to enjoy the park and the beach and who know the schedule.

Montauk Point is a treasure trove of history and natural beauty, making it a must-visit destination on Long Island. Home to the Montauk Point Lighthouse, the oldest lighthouse in New York State and one of the oldest active lighthouses in the U.S., this iconic structure stands tall at 110 feet. It was established under President George Washington's authorization and serves as a National Historic Landmark.
The view is great and going up to the lighthouse is optional though I would recommend it if you have time in hand. The wait can be long so go early or on a weekday. There’s a lot of information at the museum which you can visit after your climb to the top, which is at the ground level. Yes it’s a paid activity but There’s a gift or souvenir shop outside too. Parking is paid. Pets are NOT allowed near the lighthouse but may be taken to the other spots.

The picture is the view from the top of the light house. It’s a pretty mighty but easy climb but not suited for those who have breathing issues. We were staying in Long Island and took us a couple of hours by car. You can reach the water by climbing down but in certain parts the water reeks as there’s a lot of water plant growing (wildling). There’s a shack across the road and you get the best squid there. The overall quality of the sea food items are pretty fantastic and refreshing. Went there in may so the weather was bright and sunny and happy.

The Whitney Museum of American Art is an iconic museum dedicated to showcasing the work of homegrown American artists. With a permanent collection of over 23,000 pieces, the Whitney is a must-see for art lovers in New York City. Highlights of the collection include works by Louise Bourgeois, Jackson Pollock, and Georgia O'Keefe. The museum also features rotating exhibitions that focus on different aspects of contemporary art.
As others have said here, they have a wonderful permanent collection of art and special exhibitions that change often. Check the website to see what is currently on view. However for me, the building was also a big draw. This new Whitney is amazing. A great layout, friendly staff and wonderful views of the river (even the Statue of Liberty is visible) and the city from the many terraces. Inside the sun room is a must. Also a nice cafe with snacks, pastries and sandwiches.
Robert B — Google review
If you are planning on checking out Little Island or The High Line, then you should check out the Whitney Museum of American Art. The museum is filled with twentieth-century and contemporary American art, with a special focus on works by living artists. Some exhibitions are permanent, while some are temporary. One of the temporary exhibition, Christine Sun Kim: All Day All Night, was wonderful. She uses musical notations, infographics, American Sign Language, and English to produce drawings, videos, sculptures, and installations to show the non-auditory, political dimensions of sounds. The fifth floor is currently under renovation to prepare for the new, upcoming exhibition. Even more sad, the terrace was closed. If it was open, you can see many more artworks and sculptures. You could had also relax and enjoy some food, while enjoying view of the city.

I came for Free Fridays at the Whitney and it’s such a vibe! I visited the Whitney Museum yesterday and had such a great experience. The museum is full of modern and contemporary art from a variety of artists and time periods, so there’s always something unique to discover on each floor. What really stood out to me were the outdoor terraces — every level has beautiful views of the city skyline, and catching the sunset from there was just amazing. It’s definitely one of the best spots in NYC for both art and views. The layout is easy to navigate, and the galleries are spacious, which makes exploring feel relaxed rather than rushed. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout my visit. To finish the evening, I headed up to the rooftop where you can enjoy a drink while looking out over the skyline — a perfect way to end the museum trip. Overall, the Whitney is a must-visit if you enjoy art, city views, or just want a nice cultural outing. I’d definitely recommend going in the late afternoon so you can enjoy the exhibits and then step outside to see the sunset from the terraces.

I went with my children a few weeks ago and it was so much fun! There is so much different artwork, and the atmosphere is so exciting. There were a couple of floors with balconies, and they have different artwork outside! That was so creative in my eyes. They have a restaurant as well which is always a good thing! You have the option to take the elevator or go up/down the stairs which I appreciate because sometimes taking the elevator with a ton of people activates my social anxiety. on the first floor they always have music playing on Fridays and it's so much fun to watch people join. I plan to go back soon!
Soul S — Google review
This was a really nice museum. It had a beautiful view of a bay and the little island on the viewing floor. The artwork was modern and inviting. The exhibits were done very well and I was never bored. You can chill in the rooftop and try out the cafe on that level. The gift shop has a lot of good items. I bought a magnet, hat and tote for a decent price. They have coat check for you on the ground floor which was super helpful since this was a work trip and we had our laptop bags. There is also a lot of seating throughout the museum which is a plus.
Brittany C — Google review
The Whitney Museum has always been one of my favorites to visit in the city (also I’m a member). Love the views of the city from their rooftop, which also has art showcased, I went here this past Friday to see their new exhibition, Sixties Surreal. Note: They host a free Fridays once a month, which I forgot about so it was a little bit of a wait. Try to visit during the day to take advantage of city views.

Stephane R — Google review
The exhibits I did see were really cool and the sunset view from the top floor is amazing. But it was a lot smaller than I expected. You can see the whole museum in less than an hour, and the timed tickets + no free CUNY admission like other NYC museums have are annoying drawbacks. Glad I went on the free Friday because it wouldn't have been worth the regular ticket price. I frequently revisit museums here, but this one won't stay on my list.

Old Westbury Gardens is a 200-acre property featuring a historic mansion surrounded by formal botanical gardens. The estate, once owned by John Shaffer Phipps, offers daily guided tours and has been featured in numerous films and TV shows. Visitors can explore the formal European gardens with statues, fountains, and boxwood hedges, as well as the woodlands, ponds, and lakes on the property. The mansion itself is an architectural marvel with its unique Collyweston slate roof.
Old Westbury Gardens is such a beautiful spot! The mansion and the grounds are absolutely stunning, and it feels like stepping into another time. The gardens are really well kept, and there are so many different areas to explore. The Mansion history is really neat too. You can easily spend a few hours or all day just wandering. Beautiful mansion, so much history inside. It Was built for the Phipps family. So much land, so much trees, plants and birds. The yard has 2 pools, one of them is huge, huge. There's a lake and pond with gold fishes, statues and plenty benches to sit on as you take in the wonderful site. I would say though that the outside needs a little tlc like the pool/fountain closest to the house the water is very murky, with huge amounts of leaves in it. The inside of the mansion has wonderful furnishings and has been well cared for. The guided tour was very informative, really enjoyed it. So much to say about this place, its wonderful part of history.

Today we visited the old Westbury gardens, we bought our tickets in advance (recommended) We arrived and immediately were welcomed by friendly staff. The first person I approached (we had a bag which were weren't aware is not allow) was Kenny Cleare. He offered to store our bag, free of charge. Secondly we met Joan who gave us a house tour. She has so much knowledge, and speaks with so much passion. You don't want her to stop talking. Everything in this house is an antique, beautiful and expensive. The history is so interesting. Kenny, I want to say Thank You for being so humble and so extremely friendly and helpful. We will never forget you. I pray that one day you will experience Cape Town, South Africa as your sister did. You will have an amazing experience. We were honored to meet you and Joan today. The amount of joy and passion you have for your work incredible. As a Long Island Photographer, I highly recommend Old Westbury Gardens! We recently had the honor of documenting a surprise marriage proposal here, and the experience was truly exceptional, solidifying its status as one of the best locations for wedding portraits and proposals on Long Island. The grounds are simply stunning, offering endless backdrops—from the gorgeous architecture to the manicured gardens—making it an ideal wedding venue location for romantic, high-end photography. Crucially, the staff and coordination team were an absolute joy to work with. They are professional, responsive, and incredibly friendly, which ensures the day runs smoothly for the couple and for all vendors. This makes the job of a proposal photographer or wedding photographer much easier and more enjoyable. If you are a couple planning a Long Island wedding, a special photo session, or the perfect proposal, you must put Old Westbury Gardens at the top of your list. We can't wait to be back here soon!

Another beautiful October at the Old Westbury Gardens! Our docent, Lauren, was a wealth of knowledge and gave a wonderful tour! The entirety of the volunteer staff are so talented and lovely. We felt very welcomed and enjoyed our time in the gardens. Thank you for sharing this incredible space with us!

10/19/25 This historic home was, at one time, over 200 acres belonging to Mr. and Mrs. Phipps and their four children. Allow me to reiterate: this mansion, built during the waning years of the Gilded Age, and which had a full live-in staff, tennis courts, polo fields, and a working farm, was for a single family. (He made his fortune alongside Andrew Carnegie.) The grounds were absolutely beautiful and impeccably maintained, and the preservation and interpretation of history front and center in their recently added tour, Secrets of the Service Wing, which highlighted the individuals who ran the home. (Always far more interesting, don’t you think?) This included a look at the butler’s pantry, the silverware safe and linen cupboards (including original fabric imported from Ireland) even the wine cellar! Our guide, Cathy, was well-versed, knowledgeable, and personable. I highly recommend this special tour, but take note it's not offered everyday and needs advance ticket purchase. If you look at the included dining room photo, there are two paintings that really hammer home the wealth of this family: a Gainsborough and a Sargent!! That alone was worth the trip for me.

Recently visited Old Westbury Gardens and was delightfully surprised to discover a vibrant Korean cultural event taking place. The celebration beautifully showcased various facets of Korean heritage, from mouthwatering cuisine and dynamic Tae Kwon Do demonstrations to graceful traditional dances and the infectious energy of K-pop performances. With Old Westbury Gardens not too far away from home, we find ourselves returning often to soak in the beauty of the gardens, wander the serene grounds, and revel in the peaceful ambiance of the environment.

East Hampton Main Beach is a popular ocean beach with lifeguards, a snack bar, and bathrooms. It's known for its long stretches of white sands and calm waters, making it an excellent spot for families to enjoy activities like building sandcastles and having picnics. The beach also offers opportunities for sun worshippers to relax while taking in the beautiful scenery. Additionally, Main Beach provides various activities such as swimming, sunbathing, beach volleyball, and surf lessons.
This place is pure happiness. Make sure to pay for parking as they do ticket the vehicles. This beach does tend to get busy on the weekends. You can have a fire at night here as long as it’s in a metal fireplace. Great sand as well!

This beach is so clean and peaceful. It is in a quiet area and feels like an oasis away from the madness in NYC Side note, if you’re someone who likes a classic beach day be prepared to see the locals stare if you are in anything but a linen button down and khakis. I have never seen a beach where people don’t wear swimsuits but here we are! All in all a beautiful spot and would definitely visit again.

It was a lovely beach. The day was sunny and bright. the ocean breeze was cool. The restaurant was as you entered the beach area, and the bathrooms were clean. It's a nice beach for riding the waves and tanning. The water temp was a tad cold.

Very nice Beach. You need to pay for parking by scanning a QR code in your phone. There are a few bikes that you can rent also by using an app to unlock them. There are several benches and bins between the parking lot and the beach itself. When I was there, there was a sign saying there’s no lifeguard.

Main Beach in East Hampton is a beautiful stretch of coastline that perfectly captures the charm of Long Island’s East End. Known for its clean, soft sand and gentle waves, it’s an ideal spot for a relaxing day by the ocean. The beach is well-maintained and has lifeguards on duty, making it a safe and family-friendly destination. What sets Main Beach apart is its peaceful, upscale atmosphere—there are no overwhelming crowds or noisy distractions, just the sound of the surf and sweeping views of the Atlantic. Sunrises and sunsets here are especially stunning, with the sky painted in vivid colors over the water. While parking can be challenging without a local permit, the experience is well worth it. Main Beach combines natural beauty with a sense of tranquility, making it one of the most enjoyable and iconic beaches in the Hamptons.

The parking is a nightmare. We stopped to grab a quick bite to eat and check out the scene. We went to park in the lot and it uses park mobile. I thought the app was broken because it was telling me I had to park for 11 hours. I was only going to be there for around 30 minutes. No where did it say flat rate parking or anything of that nature. I thought to myself no way they actually expect you to pay $50 for a quick stop this would be the most expensiveparking I have ever seen in my 36 years on earth. Anyway I got back to my car after a quick bite and surely I got a ticket. One would think a parking ticket of that nature might be $75-$100 as gross actions like parking in handicap spaces warrant $250 dollar tickets. Nope it was a $250 dollar ticket. I nicely asked the officer who was giving out the tickets how can you expect someone parking 15 minutes to pay the same as someone parking 11 hours. He couldn't even answer the question but explained it was flat rate parking. Honestly this should be illegal. Its not even like they lost any money because as soon as I left my spot someone else parked in it. Its just straight up greed and not right. This review is just to warn people trying to go here as I have no choice but to pay this outrageous ticket where the punishment doesnt fit the crime.

Ponquogue Beach, located near Shinnecock Inlet in Hampton Bays, is a serene and beautiful spot offering various amenities for visitors. The beach features a pavilion with restrooms, concessions, changing rooms, eco-friendly facilities, and on-duty lifeguards. There is ample parking available with free weekday parking and a weekend permit fee. Set against picturesque sand dunes, this beach is popular among tourists due to its convenient location and the availability of dining options nearby.
This is a nice beach with a decent-sized parking lot, clean bathhouse and a place to buy food and beach accessories (chairs, boogie boards, etc.) The lifeguards were very attentive and made sure that everyone was safe. The surf was very rough on the day I visited, yet swimming was still allowed, which I appreciated. Parking was $40/day for a non-resident.

Every time I travel home to the Hamptons, I like to ride over the ponquybridge to check out the ocean and then ride down to the jetty/I let. There's usually always a nice breeze and I will stop at the local bakery and grab me a roll and just check out the water and the boats. This was my first stop on my last trip home.

Simply beautiful. Clean white sand and nice waves. We went the weekend after Labor day and the water was perfect temperature for swimming. Family friendly and we even saw people walking dogs. Lifeguard not on duty the days we went. Changing rooms and bathrooms were clean and nice. There's a booth to pay for parking, but it was closed both weekend days we went, so free! I guess it stops at Labor Day.

Clean white sand. Plenty parking area. $30/day parking. Clean bathrooms and changing rooms. Ladies room had about 4 changing rooms. 4 total Showers outside. Bathroom closes at 5pm. Lifeguards on site but they leave at 5pm. Long shoreline, beautiful. The day I went was sunny but windy so ocean was wavy. Watch the wind forecast. I recommend all beaches along that coastline. Minimum seaweeds on the shore. Clean shore.
Mamta B — Google review
Love this beach so much all year round, except when the biting flies are out and about lol Must have a resident sticker till 9pm during beach season or pay $25 bucks for the day to park. If you don't, you'll be ticketed over and over again by the bay constable until you move your car, unlike other places in the city where you can remain parked once you get a ticket. So be warned! One really annoying thing is that people bring their dogs during off hours and some will bury their dogs waste in the sand instead of picking it up... If you're gonna own a dog... Own all of it, people!!! Still this beach has some awesome sand and great views of the ocean, amazing sunsets and equally beautiful full moon and stars view at night too! Multiple parking areas but one central area with spaces for bikes and electric cars and life guards and a hot and cold food shack with shower and bathroom facilities that was all rebuilt last year and looks beautiful..

First time there, during the pandemic. At first I was really impressed The water was a little dirty but we enjoyed it anyway. The only problem I had is with the people who were sitting all over each other with absolutely NO SOCIAL DISTANCING! It’s extremely important during this time and unfortunately my bf and I had to move twice because people were all over our space. I mean, there are so many signs for keeping up with the social distancing, and still people don’t Follow it.

Croton Point Park is a sprawling 508-acre riverfront park in Westchester County, situated on a stunning peninsula that extends into the Hudson River. It offers a wide range of activities and amenities, including a boat launch, campground, fishing spots, picnic areas, playgrounds, and more. The park is easily accessible from MetroNorth's Croton Harmon station, making it convenient for both families and individuals who prefer using public transportation.
This is the BEST place to camp if you like to go into New York City, there is a train station right at the entrance of the park. Lots of large trees and grassy areas. Evening. A beach that you can go to on the weekends and holidays. Amazing scenery all around. Best camping spot we've been at and we have been out traveling 3 months. Very reasonably priced as well
Gina B — Google review
Love walking through the campgrounds of this park with the falling leaves “snowing” around us. Walking the isthmus surrounded by trees and the Hudson on both sides. Sandy, private beaches and a public walk by the water. Dogs allowed! I still like Teatown Lake Reservation more but this is still a great, unique walk with a stunning view of the mountains. 5 stars!!!
Bonnie G — Google review
One of the best parks I've been to in America. The scenery and views of the Hudson are simply amazing, the best out of any park along the Hudson in my opinion. The park has infrastructure such as restrooms and vending machines. You can barbecue in the picnic area and even go camping. It is a bit of a walk from the train station, though.

Review for Cotton Point Park: Cotton Point Park is a truly beautiful and peaceful place. The natural views are stunning, especially with the vibrant colors that make the whole area feel like it’s glowing — everything looks wonderfully “orangied” during sunset and fall! The park has both small and large picnic areas, perfect for families or group outings. There are plenty of activities to enjoy, including camping, hiking, fishing, and water sports. Whether you’re looking for a relaxing day or an adventure, this park has it all. Located in the Town of Cotton, right next to the Hudson River, it’s a hidden gem worth visiting. Highly recommended!

Well maintained park with ample amount of space between tent campsites from what i could see as I passed through. Staff doesn’t bother you much as long as you play it cool. Went as a group of 4 with friends who apparently played guitar and sang all night the night before we got there. Said they saw a good sized coyote but it didn’t bother them. The raccoons are menaces so keep your dogs on leash if they are anywhere near raccoon or coyote sized. Will come back to this place for sure in the future.

Today the temperature was nicer than usual so I decided to take advantage of the great weather by visiting this park for the 1st time. To start there's an entrance fee for non residents/pass holders of $10, however the fees start in May. So i entered for free which was a plus. Photos don't do it justice til you arrive and realize how big this park is really is. There's plenty of space here so people aren't on top of each other. Plenty of parking, you'll find a playground, restrooms and great views of the hudson river. Park is clean only thing you'll find is the poop from the geese. They have grills and tables, you csn also bring your own. You'll have access to a small beach, and camping area. Park is quiet and overall very peaceful. Definitely worth visiting for great summer fun with friends and family. Park is accessible by public transportation however it's a bit of a walk from the metronorth station at croton on hudson.

Amazing park with a surprisingly large grounds built around an invisible landfill (impressively hidden), right next to the Croton Harmon train station/depot. Tons of space for activities, even camping. Gorgeous views of the Hudson and incredibly well preserved wetlands filled with wildlife!! Staff has always been helpful and friendly, highly recommend visiting if you're in the area!

The Franklin D. Roosevelt Boardwalk and Beach, stretching 2.5 miles along the Atlantic Ocean, offers stunning waterfront views and a glimpse of the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge. Visitors can enjoy South Fin Grill Restaurant, picnic areas, bike lanes, and delis. This historic beach dates back to the 1660s when it was frequented by the Dutch and later became a popular resort in the late 1880s with entertainment venues.
I visited for the 1st time on labor day because I wanted to explore a new area on the last day of summer. I enjoyed my time here for the following reasons. 1st there's no fee to enter, park or to have access to the beach. There are actual restrooms, play area for kids. There's a restaurant on the boardwalk which is the only one I saw,and another spot to grab, fries burgers ice cream etc. You'll have a great view of the verrazano bridge and the lower ny bay. Dog friendly and you're allowed to ride your bike. However few of the boards need maintenance. Only downside if you don't live on the island and you're driving in There's the toll you must pay. If you try getting here by ferry is not convenient at all driving is the best option. It was a great choice to visit and spend my last the of summer. Overall I had a pleasant experience definitely recommended, you don't see any crazy crowds at least not while I was there.

Camp Hero State Park, situated on Montauk Point, spans 415 acres and offers a diverse natural landscape with wooded areas, ocean vistas, beaches, and wetlands. Once a military base during WWII, the park now invites visitors to explore its rugged bluffs, tidal pools, and hiking trails while learning about its intriguing history and rumored connections to paranormal activity. The former Montauk Air Force Station's ruins can be seen along the trails.
Beautiful large State Park in Montauk, NY. Amazing views of the bluffs and the Atlantic Ocean. There are many trails to walk around through the woods and near the beach. There are also multiple picnic areas available. You can see great views of the Montauk Point Lighthouse. It was $8.00 to enter the state park with a vehicle. I would recommend checking out Camp Hero State Park.

This is one of Montauk’s most precious gems! Everyone comes to visit the historic Montauk lighthouse and drive right by the entrance to one of the most incredible pieces of WWII history! Walk the amazing trails, that take you through the various WWII batteries. Discover breathtaking ocean cliff private views! And of course the Safe Radar tower is a must! From the spooky rumors of top secret government programs like the Montauk Project to Operation MK ultra. Make sure to protect yourself with Deet the ticks are terrible! Plenty of beautiful spots for cookouts, complete with picnic tables and large charcoal grills! A must visit location!

Camp Hero State Park is one of our favorite place to hike. Weather has been warm so we went to hike here three times last week. As you walk the trail by the beach, you will see “hoodoo” formations. It has been eroded and losing more land every year we come by. As you walk alongside the beach, you can see surfers catching waves and fish popping up in the water. You can walk to lighthouse. Truly magical place to hike and spend the day when you are in Montauk.

I had a great hike with my dad all throughout camp hero, camp hero sanctuary and to the lighthouse. We found bunkers hidden in the woods of course sealed off. It would be amazing to open 1 up just to see what it looked like back then. We walked all over camp hero and the sanctuary. It was a great day and can't wait to come out here again. The bowling alley must have only been 2 lanes at best if you can find it.

I try to get here once a year. It's a beautiful park. Great dog walking park. It can be stroller friendly, if you have a large wheeled jogging stroller. Though, I don't recommend you bring strollers, unless you stay on the roads and flat trails. If you're planning on walking through the sand trails or small wooded trails you'll have a tough time. The area is beautiful and you'll learn a lot about the history of Camp Hero if you stop and read the plaques in the barracks.
Drea A — Google review
Great place to visit, and if you want to picnic. There are certain places that you can drive and certain areas that you can't, you will need to hike. There are bathrooms located on the park property and are clean and well maintained. Plenty of parking around the area. Please don't trespass where signs are posted. Wear comfortable sneakers if you plan to hike a little. Please see posted signs, especially at the Bluff Overlook. At the map of the area, there are maps and information about the park that are available below the large map. Please stay at the posted speed limit, there are people who are walking, hiking, and jogging on the road way.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Riis Beach is such a great spot to spend the day. The beach is wide, clean, and never feels too crowded, even on busy weekends. The water is nice for swimming, and there’s plenty of space to spread out and relax. What I love most is the mix of people—it has a welcoming, laid-back vibe that makes everyone feel comfortable. There are food stands and little spots to grab drinks or snacks, so you don’t have to leave if you get hungry. The sunsets here are also amazing, definitely worth staying to watch. Officer D. Rodriguez (pictured here) approached me at the end of the boardwalk nearest Tilden and threatened to arrest me for dropping my SERVICE DOG'S leash for less than a minute. The NPS will see on his OWN body cam footage that my dog is wearing service dog vest and indeed on leash for the entirety of our interaction. He told me to move to Bay 3 and I told him no problem and as I was packing up with my husband to leave, he continued to threaten me and escalate the matter, on a power trip, literally threatening to arrest me. I know my rights and was not afraid. Are you not trained to deescalate?!?!?! He could have simply said, please pick up your dog's leash, which was attached to her collar (like I said it was out of my hand for less than a minute and we were not near any people or protected birds) and he rode up on me threatening to literally arrest me. I AM PROTECTED BY THE AMERICAN'S with disabilities act and this "officer" should be disciplined.

While it may be rockier than other Hamptons beaches, it's perfect for a relaxing day in the sun or a fun-filled afternoon with family. The area also features Tiki Joes serving fried food and drinks right on the beach, making it a popular summer spot in Hampton Bays.
We love this beach. The water is shallow and great for kids. Very little waves as this is the bay. Nice shells and smooth sand. Parking is $18 if your not from the area. Defiantly a hidden gem.

Cost $18 to Park but it was an enjoyable visit. They were open bathrooms. The parking lot is small and next to the beach So no having to trrk a mile dragging all your stuff. I would wear pink shoes or Crocs because there are a lot of rocks. But the water is relatively clean and relatively calm which makes it enjoyable for young kids and less stressful for parents. Lots of beautiful rocks and shells. The food was also overpriced and not that great but the french fries were good. And at least they do have food for sale however you can pack and bring a cooler onto the beach. Definitely my most enjoyable beach trip of the summer.

It boasts sports fields, boat launches, playgrounds by the water, and paths through the woods. Additionally, the park offers cottages for rent and camping options.
We stayed a week at the cottages with 4 different families the week before July 4th. We had 9 kids ages 5-19. It was one of the best vacations I have ever been on. The cottages were modern, spacious and clean. There was ample space to congregate for family fun and meals. We had local family and friends stop by for the day. We were 20 minutes from Robert Moses Beach and the outlets. The kids biked and played disc golf. It was an amazing experience and we easily would visit again! 🌈

Not a bad place to camp. Price was okay for what ya go. The sites are a little squished together. I personally think renting out fire pits at a campsite should be a sin. We’re camping, there should just be a fire pit. The bathrooms are decently clean and the grounds are well cared for.
Dexter L — Google review
This state park is absolutely beautiful and has so much to offer. It’s huge, so no matter how many times I’ve been here, I always find something new to explore. There are multiple playgrounds spread throughout the park, which makes it a great spot for families with kids. The grounds are well-kept, and everything feels safe and open. One of the best parts is that it’s free after 4pm on weekdays and after 6pm on weekends, which makes it really easy to stop by even for a short evening visit. It’s such a nice way to spend some time outdoors without worrying about rushing. There’s a ton to do, whether you want to take a walk, ride bikes, enjoy a picnic, or just relax and soak in nature. I always see deer when I go, which makes the experience feel extra special. The wildlife here really adds to the peaceful atmosphere. Overall, this park is one of the nicest places around. Between the size, the variety of activities, and the natural beauty, it’s definitely worth visiting again and again.

He is her STATE Park- in Islip - Note: not to be confused with Heckscher park in Huntington NY. As I had made the error. GPS again is tricky with a few side streets and looping me back on to the highway. Finally found field 1 past field 2 with help of the girl at the podium enterance. The few young men staff that were there we’re helpful and gave me a map, once I got to the paring area. The park and beach do seem to have much to offer. The picnic I went had many people and a tent and DJ Set up. I do want to go back and explore the many things there.

Great spot for sunsets most the year (can't see the sun from most the South Shore in the summer months). Multiple fields for different vibes. The sand is minimal - more of a rocky beach. There's also great walking trails in the fields and around the beaches and the make shift lake. Great spot also to drive your car in the winter and be close enough to the water to see the sunset without having to freeze.

I love Hecksher! Specifically for camping. The grounds are grassy and flat and very well maintained. Kind and helpful staff. I love the bike trail. So many different birds!! So many turkeys! Btw the showers are in the same facility as the bathrooms! Score.

Have been coming to this park for over 40 years. Good place to watch the sunset. Wonderful place to bike ride with or without children. Plenty of playgrounds for children to play on. So many places to walk and explore or camp. Love walking along the beach feet in the water. An ok place to swim.

Glen Island Park is a 130-acre island park in New Rochelle, NY, connected to the city by a drawbridge from the 1920s. It offers beaches, promenades, historic structures from its resort days, picnic pavilions, reserved and open picnic areas, boat launching facilities, pathways for strolling or biking, a catering hall and restaurant.
Lovely visit to Glen Island Park. While this park is restricted to Westchester residents only...there were no attendants when I visited on a late Friday morning in November. This restriction may be during the peak season (Memorial Day to Labor Day) but I am not sure. Lots of parking in large main lot. Again, I believe there is a fee for parking but that may be effective during the peak season only. Lots of space throughout the park. Some tabled, grilling and gazebo areas throughout...some of which require reservations for. Lots of paths with great views of the Long Island Sound and the marina.

I always enjoy going to Glen Island Park. The park is clean and the scenery is beautiful. I went there last Sunday for a birthday party celebration and as always it was lovely. Once you live in Westchester County, you can always use the park for a small fee to have parties. But you must provide proof of address in order to book the park. However, if you don't live in the area, that's fine. You can still have access to the park for a picnic day or just to hang out. The bathroom is clean for the most part, and there is security/police at the location. There is a country club, a harbor and a beach that you can swim. There is paid parking between $5-$7. Overall, it is a great place for a family outing, picnic, and fun day.

This is a beautiful park with spacious grounds and grill pits. Great for large gatherings. Totally enjoyed the day with all the kids. They spent all day at the water's edge barefooted, enjoying the gentle waves washing over their feet as they tossed pebbles into the water. We had a great time!!!

It’s a beautiful experience at this small park. It’s well-lit, and the path to the beach feels like walking into paradise. The crisp blue of the ocean is stunning as you approach, and the view of the beach, along with the overall ambiance, makes it a wonderful place to escape.

Gardner County Park is one of the best spots around for families and dog owners. The new playground is amazing, and the dog runs (separate areas for big and small dogs plus an agility course) are fantastic. The wooded trails with streams and ponds are always well kept, and they even cover muddy spots with wood chips. It’s one of our favorite places to walk the dog!

And also exercise and run You can sit on the beach or enjoy boat rides There is 10 dollars admission, but it is worth every dollar to go there. Restrooms are locked or fenced in due to "remodeling". There are port-a-potties but they are locked. The park and beach are beautiful and very clean but the downfall was the fact that there are no restrooms. It is calm and serene here...It is nice to view the horizon at night or just enjoy the day and sit on the grass or walk around, ride a bike or scooter, etc.

Just dropped in at this local park and paid the non resident parking fee. Got a heck, not there was enough shade and the park feels like visiting family. The children’s greenhouse and the deconstructed stone mansion on site are beautifully done. Would be an amazing place for an outdoor wedding. Amazing. Thank you, New Rochelle, for swimming in the river and showing us a wholey different New York.

It’s the only free beach I’ve seen within Jersey, NY & Connecticut so can’t complain. Nice little area to get in the water. Water was clean. There are lifeguards, showers, bathrooms and a nice view of the ocean. You can sit and relax or go into the beach area. All free. If you wanna park inside then you have to pay like $10 but there is street parking right outside if available. All handicap accessible and there’s a playground for kids too! Very relaxed on a Sunday afternoon. No loud music or craziness.

Nice beach for a day out with the family! The water is not too deep and perfect for the kids to play! And if they want to dry off for a while there's a nice playground too and picnic tables to sit at. Also the bathroom was clean!

It was really dirty and murky. It was also really smelly and smelt like sewerage. Not swimmable at all.Very crowded. But one thing that was good were the services and lifeguards available.
Harnek C — Google review
Absolutely the worst beach I have ever been. Smelled like sewage a block away while still driving. Beach is small and the water was roped off in a tiny area. The water you can't even swim in, it's black and gross. Looks like an oil spill. I would never go back there, disgusting. Also, the bar right on the beach, ppl sleeping at the table tops, bunch of drunks.
Dereck D — Google review
Went to Corey beach just to check it out I live in the town and pay taxes beautiful place but I saw some kids that I overheard saying some aweful racist remarks makes me wonder what they hear at home to feel so confident to repeat it in a public setting kind of turned me off . I would love to visit the beach being it's convience but to be uncomfortable while trying to enjoy something paid for is a little distressing must say I'm disappointed up until now I was pretty satisfied with my area.
JANIEL C — Google review
Absolutely the most disgusting beach I've ever been to. Water was black and smelled horrendous. Wasn't even so much the low tide, smelled like a mix of carcass and feces. You know it's bad when it's a beautiful day and no one, not a single person, were swimming. We lasted all of 20 minutes before leaving. I'm baffled as to how people could sit there in the beachfront and play in the playground all day! Brookhaven needs to step up for their community and clean this up!

Nice, small town beach with play ground for the kids. Beautiful Marina and boardwalk area. Parking meter begins 05/13/2023

Great place to bring small children as it's the bay and not really any waves, bonus there's bohdis there too if you get hungry. Has a playground and gazebo if you get too hot. Negatives to Corey is if your Brookhaven town pass have to pay for parking, also there's a ton of seaweed and little rocky/Shelly. Can get stinky on the tide.

West Meadow Beach is a delightful coastal retreat nestled along the shores of Long Island Sound, where nature and tranquility come together. This local treasure boasts sandy beaches, picturesque marshlands, and an array of environmental programs that invite visitors to explore its natural beauty. The beach is renowned for its stunning sunsets that paint the sky in vibrant hues, making it a perfect spot for photography enthusiasts. Families can enjoy a small playground while soaking up the sun on clean shores with calm waters.
I've been coming here forever. This was the spot that we came to for my whole life Including now. I just love it here It's just the best space. Most beautiful sunsets you'll ever see on the North shore or from right here. Today was kind of special I rode my motorbike for the first time to this sacred spot for sunset. Somehow someway one of the spots that I always parked in as a young kid right in front was open because this lot is usually packed for sunset I pulled right up and I was right in front and got some really beautiful shots It really is just one of the best beaches. I know it's all rocks and it's not really beach per se but it's still one of the best places. Now they made it metered parking which makes it more convenient for other people but I didn't pay for it I wasn't staying long I just pulled instead of my bike and was about to leave right after the sunset Some other biker stopped and talked to me and asked what I was riding. I love that as well. She was on a live wire Harley I believe couldn't even hear anything electric bike crazy. Bathrooms are open and just a great place to stop before I left went to say hello to my friend Jim who's been forever. Take a stroll down the beach It's so worth it and either direction. There's a nice plastic path that they lay down for people in wheelchairs or carts or anything to be able to roll over the rocks to get out on the beach a little better. Just my favorite place in the world

Beautiful pebbles .. calm, clean water ❤️ one of the best spot to catch the sun set 🌅 Residents must buy a seasonal beach pass parking sticker, and non-locals have to pay the daily parking fee. (I think it’s $50/day) Restrooms are available. Small Playground for the kids.

Ok beach with fun things for the kids. But beware, if you’re not a Brookhaven resident and you have to pay $5/hr at the machine, this place will ticket you $80 while you’re actively in the process of paying to park. Do better Brookhaven.

Pryibil Beach in Glen Cove is an absolute gem, and I can't get enough of it. The place is beautiful, with soft, clean sand that makes it perfect for a relaxing day out. One of my favorite spots is the deck that extends out into the ocean, it’s amazing for fishing or just taking in the stunning views. The beach has a great swimming area too, and I love that they even provide free sunscreen. After a swim, it's so convenient to have facilities right there where you can grab a bite or freshen up ,everything you need is within reach. North Hempstead Beach Park is my go-to spot for recreation and relaxation with family and friends. The long boardwalk offers breathtaking views, and the park hosts various events throughout the holidays. What I appreciate most is the community's dedication to protecting the environment and water quality in the area. The use of oysters to clean the water is a fascinating initiative that showcases the park's commitment to sustainability. I've had the pleasure of having picnics and gatherings here several times, and it's wonderful to see the park's natural beauty. Recently, I had the opportunity to drop off a family member for volunteer work with a Long Island-based organization focused on rewilding, environmental conservation, and science projects. It was inspiring to see the impact of community efforts in preserving our natural resources. The combination of recreational activities, environmental initiatives, and community engagement makes North Hempstead Beach Park a truly special place. I'm grateful for the opportunity to enjoy this beautiful spot while also contributing to its preservation.

Coney Island Beach is a renowned vintage 3-mile sandy seaside featuring a bustling boardwalk, amusement park rides, and seasonal lifeguards. It is the city's most popular beach and offers a lively atmosphere with attractions like Luna Park and Nathans Famous hot dogs. The beach has been featured in movies such as 'Brooklyn' and 'Men in Black 3.' While it can get crowded during the summer, visitors can explore its quieter counterpart, Brighton Beach.
It's one of the most well maintained beaches in the city. There's ample eateries around. There's changing rooms. The beach is clean, and there's security around. There are multiple theme parks around offering a range of rides and attractions. If you arrive before 11 AM on a sunny day, you can find parking easily. Great for a beach day, as well as photography.

A vibrant, beautiful beach with so much to do and so much to eat! Aquarium nearby, and the boardwalk had restaurants, arcade, and rides. The water was chilly. Finding parking took a while.

My favorite way to visit is by kayak from Hells Kitchen, Manhattan Kayak Company. It is a 30 to 33 mile roundtrip depending on the route but amazing, especially going under the Verrazano. Beach landings are good training for our clients here.
Davis J — Google review
Relaxing place to be with family and friends. There are local vendors selling cotton candy, churros and drinks. You can also buy food on the boardwalk. The beach water was cold. However, the girls enjoyed playing in the sand. The view was everything. It gets loud as people bring speakers and lounge chairs. However it is a beach so it is to be expected. Life guards are on board, and they have showers to clear sand and bathroom to change clothing. You can see the coney Island rides from the beach sand. Bring your own food and drinks to save money and a tent to keep cool. They also have people renting chairs before you enter the beach (off the board walk). It gets full of people, so if you are not a people person, this is not the place for you!

A must see if in NY. We traveled here with a group. Something for everyone. Parking with a 14 person van was difficult to find, but we found a private lot selling spots for about $30 (given the extra length of the van). I think it was only $15 for a psgr car. I would recommend doing this rather than looking for a spot; Time wasted that you could have spent on the boardwalk or beach. Plenty of food options, lots of interesting locals, great views, rides of all types, etc., etc.
J T — Google review
Coney Island Beach is full of historic significance—it was one of America’s earliest seaside resorts in the 1800s, and it’s home to iconic landmarks like the Cyclone roller coaster (opened in 1927 and still running) and the Wonder Wheel (1920), both designated NYC landmarks. Parking is not easy to find for free, but if you’re willing to pay about $13, you can park right behind the Brooklyn Cyclones stadium, which is very convenient. Since it’s the end of August, the beach wasn’t too crowded, and the cleanliness has definitely improved compared to past visits. That said, you still catch whiffs of weed in the air from time to time. The restrooms are somewhat okay—they are kept fairly clean, but nothing special. The boardwalk area gives you access to two amusement parks: Luna Park and Deno’s Wonder Wheel Amusement Park. A lot of people get confused because they’re right next to each other. Luna Park has many thrill rides, but it’s very expensive. Deno’s is smaller and more family-oriented, but be careful not to buy ride cards from the wrong park by mistake. The iconic Wonder Wheel actually belongs to Deno’s, not Luna. Both parks have raised prices a lot in recent years, so keep that in mind if you’re planning a family outing. Overall, though, Coney Island is worth visiting for its history, beach, and boardwalk vibe—it’s a classic New York experience.

Well we are from NJ so we have the best beaches. Boardwalk need to be repaired in some places, you can swim only when life guard is there 10-18 in summer months. Restrooms open from 8 am. Dogs suppose to be there from 1 of October but I saw many dogs and I love it bc in nj rules are very not dog friendly and you cannot break it but in Coney Island people said to rules “ I care less” and I admire them for it :)

Ocean Beach Park in Long Beach, NY is a popular destination for New Yorkers looking to escape the city. The park offers over four miles of sandy beach, with lifeguards on duty and a boardwalk perfect for strolling or biking. Visitors can enjoy outdoor movie nights and free summer concerts, while surfers take advantage of the big waves and anglers frequent the purpose-built fishing pier.
It has literally been years since I last visited this beach. I used to always come here before I discovered the Jersey Shore. I always liked coming to this beach. It was always well maintained, and the sand was clean. I happened to come here on a Friday morning, and it was surprisingly quiet, which I prefer. I purchased my daily pass online for $15 + a fee (which is pretty steep), and I showed it to the nice young man at the booth. The boardwalk is nice for walking and bicycling, but there are really no food options, and the restrooms are far apart in distance. There is plenty of free street parking that is close to the boardwalk, which is a major plus. I will be sure to visit again in the future if I don't feel like driving to NJ for a beach day.

I went at 1am and honestly it was pretty nice and relaxing, only saw 3 ppl total and a robbery. Note: there was a robbery of a girls purse and she came to us to ask for help and we guided her to the police station (not sure what we could do at 1am) Pro tip: a lot of parking during night but please bring a knife or any type of self defense and do not come alone. At least have a party, during night time it is not safe.

I'm on over the road driver and I had time to kill and decided. I wanted to go for a walk. I found this place on Google Maps. The park was clean and had just about everything from baseball fields, basketball courts,handball/racketball courts,a little dog park,a swimming pool,a playground for kids a walking track, and if I'm not mistaken a soccer field,it's right off the water but you can't get to the water at the park but the smell of an ocean breeze was definitely refreshing. I go to the area often and I will visit the park again

September 2022 One of the widest, smoothest, cleanest boardwalks I have ever walked on. I walked a few miles along the beach and boardwalk on a lovely September afternoon, and it was wonderful. I'd like to come back and experience the area during the summer, but for my short visit when passing through, it was very enjoyable. The beach is clean and spacious with very soft sand.

Had a great time, peacefully and relaxing, great place to catch some sun. Nice and clean well maintained beach. I really enjoyed the Beach, I was there a day after Memorial Day so it was perfect not so crowded, Great board walk, good Facilities and after labor day no charge to get in great parking, by the way no dogs allowed. I recommend and definitely coming back again.

First the beach ticket price to go in is getting more expensive by the day for each person. The security there gave me a $150 ticket for my little sister wearing floats and me bringing water in a glass pitcher. This beach is definitely a vibe killer, they banned fries, anything glass related, floats, no volleyballs, no alcohol so no beer, no plastic such as single-use plastic bags, plastic straws, styrofoam coolers, cups and food containers and balloons, anything plastic related is banned and you can only swim in specific places in the beach limiting you honestly. This is some ridiculous rules, buzz killing beach, never coming here again!

Nestled in the heart of Long Island, Sea Cliff Beach is a hidden treasure that beckons beach enthusiasts with its stunning bay views and tranquil ambiance. This charming sandy shore offers a perfect escape from everyday life, where gentle waves lap at your feet and vibrant sunsets paint the sky. The scenic drive to the beach is particularly breathtaking during sunset, showcasing an expansive view of sailboats gliding across the water.
Beautiful private beach for Long Island residents, if you are not a resident there is a charge to go into the beach. Food on site. Amazing time. Also has swings on the beach for kids

Seacliff Beach is a Long Island gem! Stunning bay views & vibrant sunsets steal the show 🌅. Swing by the food court for lobster rolls, or relax on adult & kid-friendly waterfront swings 🪑. Small playground & BBQ spots add fun, though non-residents pay a fee. Ample free parking, but beach views could pop more. A serene local secret!

This beach is so nice. When I came here in the morning, there was hardly anyone here. It has great views and is a great place to take a walk.

Beautiful scenery in Long Island. Don't miss the best sunsets here! Also there is a food court at the beach where you can get lobster rolls, etc! There's a small playground and BBQ options for those who can access it.

A really cute little beach. It’s paid before 5pm and after 5pm, it is free. Plenty of parking right next to it. The water is very calm here and it is a good choice for all ages including little kids. The only problem is plenty of pebbles - so wear water shoes to protect your feet!

Been going to this place all summer I love it

There's 2 security guards sitting here and I stopped to take a photo and they said I had to leave because it's closed...? The sidewalk is closed...? I can't even just walk past them ... That's crazy No looking at the ocean after sunset! Illegal lol 2 security guards for like 10 parking spaces is also nuts 😂 What's the point? Like genuinely?

I would give it zero stars if i could and even that would be too many. This is definitely a family beach as it is very small, and quiet. There is a $25 fee per person which is strange because the beach is not maintained. We found food scraps all over the sand. If you’re planning a fun beach day with friends i strongly recommend to look elsewhere. So disappointed.

I photographed an engagement session on Long Island Sound...WOW - So beautiful there. It stretches for miles and is so quiet. We sailed through sunset and got back just in time for puppy school!
