Visited the fantasy amusement park with my family and had an amazing time! The rides were thrilling, the themed areas were beautifully designed, and the staff was friendly and helpful throughout. It’s a great place for both kids and adults. The park was clean and well-maintained. Food options was good and restaurants are neat and clean. It's better to add more rides. Fantasy Park was quite an interesting experience — definitely a one-time visit! I didn’t go into the main amusement park but visited the Upside Down Museum and Snow World, both of which were very unique. The staff were helpful, especially at the Upside Down Museum, which made the experience even better.

A delightful experience at GRS Fantasy Park Our school trip with 140 students was a memorable and joy-filled day. The park was clean, well-maintained, and perfectly organized for large groups. The staff were courteous, safety measures were commendable, and every attraction brought endless smiles to our students’ faces. The water rides, wave pool, and fun zones offered a perfect blend of thrill and refreshment. The arrangements for food and rest areas were equally satisfying. A big thank you to the GRS team for their excellent hospitality and care — truly a destination that blends fun, safety, and learning beautifully!

There are plenty of water rides suitable for both kids and adults, and the safety measures are well in place. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout. My child especially enjoyed the kids’ play area and the wave pool. Food options were decent with clean dining spaces, and there are enough resting areas and changing rooms.

Zoo
Mysore Zoo Park is a popular weekend destination, offering a well-maintained animal kingdom that allows visitors to connect with nature. The zoo provides ample space and greenery, with amenities such as RO water stations and resting areas along the 3km walking path. Families can enjoy seeing a variety of wild animals in a clean and well-maintained environment, making it an outstanding place for leisurely visits. Additionally, the park's surroundings offer a rejuvenating experience for all visitors.
It is one of the best zoos of the country.Sri Chamarajendra Zoological Gardens, popularly known as ‘Mysuru Zoo’, is one of the oldest zoos of the country established in 1892, by His Highness, the erstwhile Ruler of Mysuru Sri Chamarajendra Wadiyar Bahadur. Mysuru Zoo holds an important place in Karnataka. In 1909 the Palace Zoo was named as Sri Chamarajendra Zoological Gardens to commemorate the illustrious founder and since then it bears the nomenclature. Mysuru Zoo has gradually grown into tourist centre, imparting wildlife values. It has got 123 years of history exhibiting wild animals in the near natural enclosures. Despite majority of the zoos have been shifted from the original place to the new places, Mysuru Zoo could modernize the zoo, without shifting the zoo. The zoo is well compacted unit, with modern animal enclosures including heritage buildings attracting tourists all over the world.Great place to visit with kids above 5 years, they really appreciate the variety of birds, animals and reptiles. It took us 4 hours to complete the walk around the entire Zoo, which included a 30 min break at the cafeteria, just to rest. The food at the cafeteria is primarily south Indian food, which didn't intrigue us much, since we were eating the same for the last couple of days. Make sure you wear the most comfortable shoes if you plan to walk, and carry a bottle, so you can fill it up at the watering stations, which are well spaced out, carry a cap, it's not too hot though cause of all the trees. There is also a buggy option, however they cover the entire Zoo in an hour and you don't get time to spend at each exhibit, it's a quick tour. The zoo doesn't permit plastics, or outside food, they check the bags at the entrance post buying your tickets.

Mysore Zoo is a wonderful place for animal lovers and those interested in studying wildlife. The zoo is clean, well-maintained, and thoughtfully organized with separate sections for birds, reptiles, wild animals, and more. Visitors can explore the zoo on foot, covering approximately 3 kilometers, or opt for electric buggies for convenience. I will recommend it by foot if you can make it, so you can manage where to spend time. The entry fee is ₹100 per person. The lush greenery throughout the zoo provides a soothing and refreshing atmosphere. The walkways are beautifully designed, making the visit even more enjoyable. It's a must-visit destination, especially for families with kids, offering a unique and memorable experience to spend quality time together.

Visiting Mysuru can never be complete without this zoo in the list. It is a must visit for children and animal lovers alike. It boasts a vast collection of animals and birds in its premises and one of the large zoos in the whole of south India. It is pram friendly. Great to visit all through the day. There were options for adopting animals. It is a nice initiative in making children understand the nuances of contributing to the society.

Really loved the zoo. Very nicely maintained, clean and you see so many wild life. Weekends can be crowded. No food allowed inside the zoo but they have filtered water taps inside. restrooms are there however they are not clean and I dont blame the staff completely, I saw them cleaning but people have hard time maintaining cleanliness in public space in our country. But overall you will have a fun family time, especially kids are going to love to see the animals.
Neha R — Google review
Mysuru Zoo is a good place to visit, especially for families and kids. The zoo is well-organized, and there are many animals to see, including some rare species. However, it can get quite crowded, and some areas need better maintenance. Also, the walking distance is long, so it can be tiring during hot weather. Overall, it’s a decent experience but could be improved in terms of cleanliness and facilities.

Good place to enjoy with friends . It took almost more than 3 hours to view all the places. Well maintained. The animals were given good food and hygiene. There were variety of birds including the extinct species and the ones imported too.

It was established by Sri Chamarajendra Wadiyar Bahadur and is known for its cleanliness, conservation breeding of endangered species, and recreation of natural habitats for captive animals.
We had a wonderful experience visiting Sri Chamarajendra Zoological Gardens (Mysore Zoo). It’s one of the best-maintained zoos in India clean, spacious, and beautifully organized. The variety of animals and birds is truly impressive, and the enclosures are thoughtfully designed to give them a natural environment. 🐅🦜 The staff do a great job of maintaining the place and ensuring visitor safety and cleanliness. It’s an educational and enjoyable experience for both kids and adults. A must-visit attraction in Mysore! 🌿✨

The zoo was a delightful experience overall, offering a pleasant atmosphere for all visitors. I observed that the entire facility was meticulously maintained, contributing to a sense of order and care. The diverse range of animals present truly captivated my attention, showcasing a rich variety of species. It was a very enjoyable experience, and I highly recommend visiting. I appreciate the work that goes into maintaining the zoo. Please carry cash, as UPI is not accepted here.

One of the best and well maintained zoo in india. Probably they have all the animals and everything looks healthy in it's habitat. New enclosure for gorilla is very nice. Most of the enclosers are now glassed. Only down side is the food. Better go inside after lunch.

One of the best and cleanest zoos in India! Mysore Zoo is beautifully maintained with a wide variety of animals and birds from all over the world. The enclosures are spacious, and the animals look healthy and well cared for. It’s a lovely place for families, kids, and nature lovers — you can easily spend 2–3 hours here exploring. The walking paths are shaded with trees, and there are plenty of benches and refreshment spots. Electric buggies are available for those who prefer not to walk too much. Highlights include the white tiger, giraffes, elephants, and the bird section. Try to visit in the morning to avoid the crowd and heat. Overall, a peaceful and educational experience — truly worth a visit when you’re in Mysore!

An absolute wow! Probably the best zoo in the whole country. All the animals are given plenty of space to wander around. So many species of animals, birds... And they even got some rare species, like white peacock, bengal tiger, black swan, etc. The zoo is veryyyy big, so u can easily spend ur whole afternoon here. They have clean restrooms, places for seating everywhere, and that too in a reasonable ticketprice... They also apply stickers on the plastic items u carry inside, in order to ensure no spoiling. Overall, loved it ✨

Absolutely Amazing Zoo! A Must-Visit in Mysore! 5/5 Stars! The Mysore Zoo (Sri Chamarajendra Zoological Gardens) is truly a world-class experience and an absolute must-visit when you're in the city. I was completely blown away by the incredible variety of animals they house here. It genuinely feels like you've taken a journey across the globe, seeing species from every continent. From majestic big cats like tigers and lions, to diverse primates, beautiful exotic birds, and well-maintained enclosures for rare reptiles, every corner turned revealed a new and exciting creature. The sheer number of different animal varieties makes this zoo stand out, offering an educational and thrilling experience for all ages. The zoo is also exceptionally clean and well-maintained, which shows how much the staff cares for the animals and the visitor experience. The enclosures are spacious, and the animals look healthy and active. If you love wildlife and want to see a rich collection of species in a beautifully managed environment, do not miss the Mysore Zoo. It easily deserves all five stars!
Dhruv D — Google review
A beautifully maintained zoo with plenty of parking space and courteous, well-trained staff. It’s best to visit during the cooler parts of the day, as many animals tend to rest in the afternoon and may not be as visible then. The zoo is quite large, requiring around 4–5 kilometers of walking to explore fully. Electric carts are available, but they usually need to be pre-booked or may involve a waiting period of about 45 minutes if you opt for a walk-in.The zoo provides several water stations, and visitors can carry food items in plastic containers by paying a small refundable fee per item. Each package is tagged with a barcode for tracking, which is an excellent initiative to encourage visitors to manage their own waste responsibly.

This is one of the cleanest zoo and this have a unique way to tackle garbage, they will charge you 10 rs for plastic item you are taking inside like bottle or snack and will refund you one you show the plastic item back they will put a qr code and then they return 10rs, This place have lot of new animal which i never saw in other city zoo , like Gorilla chimpanzee orengaton giraffe and much more, now points to remember , luggage they will charge 15 per item, entry 120 per person adult, they have electric 🛴 scooter and electric car facility at 240 per person adult ( but long wait queue ) , they offer clean water every 100-200m. And one drawback is lots of parts are closed / not allowed to go there now sure why but rest accessible part were amazing, i am adding few phots here which i feel were amazing

Rehabilitation center
Shuka Vana, located in Mysore, is a unique tourist destination and bird rehabilitation center founded by Dr. Sri Ganapathy Sachchidananda Swamiji. The park is home to over 2000 birds of various species, making it the record holder for the most bird species in an aviary according to the Guinness Book of World Records.
I recently visited Shukavana in Mysore, a beautiful bird sanctuary that’s completely dedicated to exotic and rescued parrots and other birds. And I have to say it was awesome. The sanctuary is free to enter, which is incredibly generous and rare these days. You get to see a stunning variety of birds in well-maintained enclosures, and many of them look genuinely happy and active. The place is peaceful, clean, and thoughtfully designed. To top it off, they also have a bonsai garden which adds to the whole experience. It’s a great place for bird lovers, families, and photographers alike. 💡 But Here's the Catch – Revenue Model Needs Work While the place is beautiful, I genuinely felt they’re missing out on a solid revenue opportunity that wouldn’t compromise their free-entry policy. Here’s an idea that could really work: Entry remains free, but only if you don’t carry a phone or camera inside. If you want to carry your phone and take photos, charge ₹200. Want a bird to sit on your hand or shoulder for a photo? Add ₹200 more totally worth it, and many people would love that moment. This way, casual visitors still get to enjoy the sanctuary for free, while photography enthusiasts and families who want keepsakes are contributing to its maintenance. Everyone wins. Final Thoughts: Shukavana is a fantastic initiative with heart. It’s a must-visit if you're in Mysore but they deserve more support, and a better self-sustaining model could make a huge difference in the long run. Would love to see this place thrive even more!
VISHWANATH S — Google review
Good. Very noisy atmosphere. Mobile phones are not allowed in this area as it makes disturbance to the birds. It's not recommended too. But still even the security told to switch off the phones, we saw many were using it inside by which they proved themselves fools. Most of the are here was under construction, may be that's why there was no tickets. The entry was free and the birds were allowed to watch. A wide area is now being developed for elaborated bird sightings. The location is little inside among temples. So the visitors may feel difficult to find out the location sometimes. Shopping facility is available after the bird visit. If you want to take pictures with parrots or maccows, the same is available at a rate of 300 and you will be taken inside the cages. Enjoy your holiday.

I had the privilege of visiting the Mysore Sukhavana Avadhootha Datta Peetham SGS Ashram, and it was a profoundly enriching experience! This sacred ashram is a haven of peace, tranquility, and spiritual growth. The ashram's beautiful architecture, lush gardens, and serene atmosphere create a perfect setting for introspection, meditation, and self-reflection. The stunning idol of Lord Dattatreya is a sight to behold, radiating divine energy and positivity. One of the highlights of my visit was the "Birds Sukhavana" - a unique aviary within the ashram that's home to a wide variety of birds, including parrots, and peacocks. It was a thrill to see these beautiful creatures up close and personal! Another notable feature of the ashram is the massive Hanuman statue, which stands tall and proud, exuding an aura of strength and devotion. It's a truly awe-inspiring sight! Important. The peaceful and serene atmosphere The stunning idol of Lord Dattatreya The beautiful gardens and walking trails The "Birds Sukhavana" aviary The massive Hanuman statue Plan your visit during the early morning or evening hours for a more peaceful experience - Attend the daily discourses and spiritual activities for a deeper understanding of the ashram's teachings.

An amazing vision brought to reality by the Sanyasi for saving the endangered parrots species from across the world. They don't charge any entry fees. The avairy is open seven days a week. Be calm and interact with those birds, but follow advice. You are transferred into an amazing world of birds. They have kept it so neat and healthy.

Shuka Vana in Mysore is one of the most unique and heartwarming attractions in the city, especially for bird lovers and nature enthusiasts. Founded by His Holiness Sri Ganapathy Sachchidananda Swamiji, this place serves as a rehabilitation and shelter home for hundreds of rescued parrots and exotic bird species from around the world. It’s not just a tourist spot — it’s a sanctuary filled with care, compassion, and life. The moment you enter, you are greeted by the melodious sounds of colorful parrots and other birds. The aviary is beautifully maintained, spacious, and filled with greenery, giving the birds a natural and peaceful environment to live in. The variety of species here is truly impressive — you can see parrots, macaws, cockatoos, parakeets, and many rare breeds, all kept in excellent condition. Each section is neatly arranged, and there are information boards explaining the names and origins of the birds, which makes the visit educational as well as enjoyable. What makes Shuka Vana even more special is its purpose. It’s not just a zoo or bird park; it’s a spiritual and healing place dedicated to protecting and caring for birds that have been injured, abandoned, or mistreated. The center spreads awareness about the importance of preserving bird species and respecting all forms of life. The staff and caretakers are very polite, knowledgeable, and dedicated to their work. They ensure cleanliness, safety, and comfort for the birds as well as the visitors. Photography rules are strict in some areas, as the place prioritizes the well-being of the birds over tourism, which is commendable. The overall atmosphere is serene and refreshing — you can spend hours admiring the beauty and intelligence of these birds. The nearby Sri Ganapathy Sachchidananda Ashrama adds to the peaceful spiritual environment of the area. Overall, Shuka Vana is a must-visit place in Mysore. It’s a perfect blend of spirituality, compassion, and nature conservation. Whether you are a tourist, a student, or simply someone who loves animals, this place will surely touch your heart. A truly inspiring and unforgettable experience that showcases Mysore’s commitment to wildlife care and humanity.

Sri Ganapathi Sachidananda Swamy is known for loving animals and parrots seems to be his favorite. This sanctuary of rescued Parrots have a large abode of joyful life. The entry is free. It takes about 30 minutes to 45 minutes depending on how long you would like to spend with the birds. There are tiny as well as large birds. Some of them come and sit on our shoulder, head or anywhere they feel like. Birds were all colorful. While some of the birds were caged, most of them were flying outside. The entire complex is huge cage and hence the birds can't go out of the complex. There are dedicated places for photo shoots and they are chargeable. After taking the pictures they are printed and are distributed in the counters at the entrance of the sanctuary. Few of the parakeets were heard taking couple of words too. It's a long walk but it's worth the walk watching all kinds of Parrots. The screeching sound of the parakeets may sometimes irritate your ear buds. At the entrance of the sanctuary you can also find couple of shops selling eateries and merchandise. There were a lot of stone standees placed as we walked to the sanctuary. Probably they are getting ready for more bonsai trees. The Shuka Vana is open from 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM and 3:30 PM to 5:30 PM. Weekly Holiday is on Wednesday.

Kishkindha Moolika Bonsai Garden, located in Mysore, is a renowned attraction known for its extensive collection of miniaturized bonsai trees, palm trees, and rare medicinal herbs. Established by HH Dr. Sri Ganapathy Sachchidananda Swamiji, the garden spans 4 acres and features over 100 species of bonsai trees.
Oh my God! It's sooooo amazing!I have been to bonsai gardens around the world and I have never seen this many old bonsais in one place! It's so well kept, and the plants are truly beautiful! I can't believe this isn't recommended more, it's a must go if you love plants! Also, you should plan to be there right when it opens - there is a museum that you get entry to (I didn't get to go there because I ran out of time) and a free exotic bird sanctuary (which I also couldn't see because... Time). I'm going back, and the gardener is going to give us a private tour!

It has small shop where you can buy sovenier and gifts. Bonsai garden is beautifully maintained. Museum is a gem of ancient things like gemstones, stamps, paintings, musical instruments and much more. Most recommended! Krishkindha Moolika Bonsai Garden in Mysore offers a truly unique experience, different from the usual botanical gardens. It’s a beautifully maintained garden featuring an impressive collection of bonsai plants, each carefully shaped and nurtured with dedication. The peaceful atmosphere, combined with the artistic display of miniature trees, makes it a calming and inspiring place to visit. It’s clear that a lot of effort and love has gone into curating this space. You will find trees planted in 1942 ! There is hundred rupees charge to visit this garden which also includes visit to the museum. The museum is nice and holds the biggest Bhagwat Geeta book which is recorded in Guinness Book of World record as the biggest book. This hidden gem is perfect for nature lovers, photographers, and those looking to spend quiet, meaningful time surrounded by greenery. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Mysore—don’t miss it!

Bonsai Garden is renowned for its exquisite collection of miniature trees, One of the more unique attractions of the Royal Mysore, the Bonsai Garden of Mysore is home to over a 100 different varieties of Bonsai trees spread across this vast estate. The garden now hosts 450 miniature tree across an area of 4 acres, filled with these quirky dwarf trees. The beauty of the garden is accentuated by the stream that flows within, as well as the placement of Buddha statues and monkey statues around the area, representative of the zen culture from where the art of Bonsai was evolved.

Excellently maintained bonsai park with lots and lots of trees. The adjoining museum is very big and has four floors . Karanji Lake, located in Mysuru, Karnataka, is a 222-acre lake within a nature park. Visitors can explore a walk-through aviary, butterfly garden, and museum while enjoying the serene surroundings. The lake is not only a relaxing spot but also an ideal destination for birdwatchers with around 147 species of birds to observe. From Sandpipers to migratory birds like painted storks and ibises, there are plenty of opportunities for bird enthusiasts.

Greenish environment with lots of bamboo trees. A good place to walk along the trees on both sides and boating was nice and peaceful. You can see the peacock and black ducks in a closer look. The bird watch tower gives a good view of the area. Can spend 2 - 3 hrs max.

A peaceful gem right next to the zoo—perfect for boating, birdwatching, and quiet strolls. The walk-through aviary (India’s largest) has free‑roaming peacocks, cranes and parrots. There's also a butterfly park and a bird‑viewing tower.Great for boating, peacock sightings, and family relaxation. Worth visiting if you’re near the zoo!

Absolutely loved my visit to Karanji Lake and Peacock Park in Mysore! The place is calm, refreshing and filled with greenery all around. Watching peacocks roam freely and spotting different birds felt so peaceful. The lake view and aviary walk were beautiful and it’s a perfect spot to relax or spend time with family. A must-visit if you enjoy nature and quiet moments away from the city buzz.

If you're a nature enthusiast craving tranquility, lush greenery, and the calming sounds of birdsong, Kalangi Lake and Bird Sanctuary is your perfect escape. Nestled away from the urban chaos, this serene spot offers a refreshing blend of scenic beauty and biodiversity that soothes both mind and soul.

A must visit in mysore. The park is absolutely beautiful. You have boating, bird watching, museum. And a lot more. Entry fees is 120 per person. And they will charge you 10 rupees if you carry a plastic bottle. They will return you that money when you show your plastic bottle with you while editing. It's a great way to stop people from littering. The boating is 60 per person for 15 mins. 120 for 30 mins. These are peddle boats. If you want driver, you need to pay 400. The bird park is really cool. Because yo get to see these bird and peacocks from a feet distance. There is a tower. You must go there and climb to see the whole lake and other nice views. Museums are good for kids, adults may find it very boring. Overall, a must go!

Visited on: July 6 Entry Fee: ₹50 per adult | ₹25 per child Parking: Additional charges apply We had a lovely time at Karanji Lake — it’s a peaceful and refreshing spot, perfect for a weekend outing with family or friends. As you enter, you're greeted by a clean, well-maintained environment that immediately lifts your mood. The kids’ play area is well-equipped with rope activities and other fun setups to keep children engaged. One of the highlights is the bird enclosure filled with colorful parrots, and the free-roaming peacocks truly steal the show — dancing and walking gracefully around the park. Another must-do is boating – you can choose between pedal boats or boats with a driver, with a 15-minute ride through the serene waters. If you're up for a bit of walking, about 1 km from the boating point, there's a bird-watching tower. Climb up and you'll be rewarded with views of rare and free birds in their natural setting.

Market
Devaraja Market is the oldest market complex in the city, offering a vibrant and chaotic traditional Indian market experience. With over 300 shops spread across 3 acres, it's a must-visit for tourists looking to immerse themselves in local flavors. The market features sections dedicated to fresh flowers and puja materials, making it a unique cultural experience. Additionally, the gallery within the market showcases renowned artworks by established artists, including Raja Ravi Verma and Rembrandt.
captures the essence of Mysore's local culture. It's a bustling marketplace filled with fresh fruits, vegetables, flowers, spices, and traditional items. The fragrance of jasmine and incense sticks, combined with the vivid colors of fruits and flowers, creates an unforgettable sensory experience. The market is well-organized, and the vendors are friendly, often engaging visitors with stories about their products. It's a great place to buy souvenirs like sandalwood products and Mysore silk at reasonable prices. While it can get crowded, that's part of its charm.
Kiran K — Google review
stepping into Devaraja Market in Mysore is like entering a completely different world – a vibrant, sensory overload in the best possible way! It's not your typical sterile shopping experience; it's raw, it's bustling, and it's full of life. The first thing that hits you is the explosion of colors and smells. Piles upon piles of bright fruits and vegetables are everywhere – the deep red of tomatoes, the vibrant yellow of bananas, the lush green of leafy vegetables. And the fragrance? A mix of sweet flowers, earthy spices, and fresh produce all mingling together. It’s quite intoxicating! What I loved is how authentic it feels. You see local vendors, many of whom have been there for generations, passionately selling their goods. There's a real buzz of interaction between them and the customers, a friendly banter that you don't often find in modern supermarkets. You can find pretty much anything here, from fresh produce and flowers (oh, the marigolds and jasmine are just gorgeous!) to spices, incense, and even some household items. It’s a feast for the senses at every turn. Navigating through the narrow pathways can be a bit chaotic, with people and handcarts moving around, but that's part of its charm. It feels like you're right in the heart of the city's everyday life. I spent a good amount of time just wandering around, taking it all in. I bought some fragrant spices and a few local fruits that I hadn't tried before. It felt good to support the local economy directly. It's not a fancy, air-conditioned mall; it's a traditional market, and it has all the character that comes with that. If you want to experience the real pulse of Mysore and soak in the local culture, Devaraja Market is a must-visit. Just be prepared for the crowds and the sensory overload – embrace it, and you'll have a fantastic time! In a human way: * It's a vibrant and bustling market with an explosion of colors and smells. * You can find a wide variety of fresh produce, flowers, and spices. * It feels very authentic, with local vendors and lively interactions. * It's a great place to experience the local culture and support the community. * Be prepared for crowds and a sensory-rich environment. If you're looking for an authentic and lively experience in Mysore, Devaraja Market is definitely worth exploring. It's a sensory adventure!
Akhin P — Google review
Mysore Market, also known as Devaraja Market, is one of the oldest and most iconic marketplaces in Karnataka. Located in the center of Mysore city, it’s not just a shopping destination—it’s a cultural experience in itself. Walking through the market feels like stepping into a different world, where tradition and daily life blend seamlessly. The first thing you’ll notice is the explosion of colors—bright orange marigolds, red chilies, green herbs, and vibrant pigments used for religious and decorative purposes. The air is filled with the scent of fresh flowers, spices, and incense, creating a sensory experience that’s truly unforgettable. Stalls are lined with fresh produce, aromatic oils, sandalwood products, and handmade items that reflect the craftsmanship of local artisans. The market is well-organized, with separate sections for fruits and vegetables, flowers, puja items, and household goods. It’s a great place to interact with locals, many of whom are eager to share stories or explain the use of their products. The vendors are generally friendly and open to bargaining, making it a fun place to shop. What sets Mysore Market apart is its authenticity. Unlike commercial malls, it offers a raw and genuine glimpse into the daily life of Mysore’s residents. It’s also a photographer’s dream, filled with colorful scenes and lively characters. Whether you're a traveler, a photographer, a foodie, or just curious, Mysore Market is a must-visit. It’s more than a place to shop—it's a place to connect with Mysore’s soul.

Some markets in India are important tourist sites in themselves. In Mysore, a visit to the Devaraja market is a must on every tourist’s itinerary. Many heritage walks in Mysore include the market. Even if you don’t plan on buying anything, the market offers some great photography opportunities. It also gives tourists an insight into the daily life of Mysore.

India is a country wherein you see an invisible system working alongside the chaos, and this market is a living example of it. The type of markets are majorly divided amongst textile, jewelry, produce, flowers, stationary, etc but then shops have full control on being creative and organized or not organized.

Karanji Lake in Mysore is a serene and picturesque destination that offers a variety of activities for nature enthusiasts. The lake is open every day except Tuesdays, with a minimal entry fee. Visitors can enjoy boating on the tranquil waters, either self-guided or with an experienced driver. One of the main attractions is the opportunity to observe peacocks up close, especially during early mornings and late afternoons when they display their vibrant plumage.
A green throughfare in the park is what we expected and it is what we got. Ticket is a must to be got.. cash or digital is ones choice. Got to buy a ticket for parking too. Tickets are duly stamped. The walk itself is so eye soothing. The wide pathway gives ample place for the strollers. The trees and plants are well labelled. And one can find labelled markings along the way.. The birds aviary got a lot of peacocks and ducks. They put on music too and the peacocks start calling along with the music. The lake has boats for rides too. And the duration of the ride will depend on how many want to have a ride. The bird watch tower are up the 3 flight of steps.. with a platform at the end. One can have a good view of the aa scenary consisting of the birds ,lake and greenary. One can find benches along the way to sit and while away time. Children's play area too finds a place here. And one can see children enjoying themselves. Nature is a great teacher.. parents with children coming here.. can be taught to appreciate nature and its bounty.. It will be time well spent for the whole family.

Very beautiful park, with lots of trees forming a canopy along the walk-way. There's boating facility also available within the park. There's also an enclosure to view some birds in close proximity. Since there are so many trees and a large lake next to the walk-way, you'll spot many kinds of birds here. A great place for early morning and evening walks. Additionally, there's also a combo ticket option to enter Mysore zoo directly from here. There's a decent amount of parking space also available.

Karanji Lake is a beautiful and refreshing spot in Mysore, perfect for nature lovers and families. The lake area is well known for its rich birdlife, especially the graceful peacocks and plenty of wild chickens that roam freely, adding to the charm of the surroundings. Visitors can enjoy boating on the calm waters, which makes the experience even more relaxing and enjoyable. The place is well-maintained, and the authorities have taken good care to ensure cleanliness throughout the area, making it pleasant to spend time here. Basic amenities such as drinking water and washroom facilities are also available, which makes it convenient for families and tourists. The peaceful greenery around the lake, combined with the sight of colorful birds, creates a perfect environment for relaxation, photography, and spending quality time with loved ones. Overall, Karanji Lake is a must-visit destination if you are in Mysore.
Dhanya J — Google review
Karanji Lake feels like walking through a beautifully landscaped park, reminiscent of those in many cosmopolitan cities. There is a sense of calm, yet the park is alive with activity: families strolling, chatting, or pedaling around on the swan boats. It is well-maintained, which is refreshing compared to what you often see elsewhere in India. The park also functions as a bird sanctuary, though I was less impressed by this aspect; it didn’t feel overly abundant for the swans and peacocks present. There are a few toilet buildings, though I can’t comment on their cleanliness. It’s also a lovely spot for young couples enjoying a Sunday afternoon walk. One highlight is the treetop tower, which you can climb to rise above the canopy and enjoy stunning views over the lake. The climb is worth it for the panoramic perspective. Karanji Lake offers a genuine escape from the city, although Mysore itself is far calmer than the hustle of other Indian cities. The park sits right next to the zoo, which I chose not to visit. Tickets are very affordable: 60 INR for the park alone, or 150 INR for a combo ticket with the zoo. Scooter parking costs 40 INR, while cars are slightly more. A tuk-tuk from the city center gets you there in no time. If you have a free afternoon, want something relaxing, and have already explored Chamundi Hills and the larger lake, I recommend this park. The vibe here is refreshingly different from other places in Mysore.

A Serene Escape in the Heart of Mysuru! Karanji Lake Nature Park is an absolute gem for nature lovers and families alike. From the moment you enter, you're greeted by lush greenery, chirping birds, and the tranquil expanse of the lake. The walking paths are well-maintained, and the butterfly park is a delightful surprise—vibrant, peaceful, and educational. The aviary is one of the largest in India and offers a rare chance to observe exotic birds up close in a natural setting. I especially appreciated the thoughtful layout, clean rest areas, and the eco-conscious vibe throughout the park. Whether you're into photography, birdwatching, or just a quiet stroll, this place has something for everyone. Highly recommend visiting during early morning hours for the best experience. Kudos to the management for preserving such a beautiful space in the city!

A well-maintained lake just behind Mysore Zoo with an aviary that’s full of peacocks. There are ample places to sit and rest and also a fully functional food court (which wasn’t operational till 11 am on a Sunday though) for grabbing a quick bite. The parking space was decent as well. The best part of our day was the peacock dance. The weather was kind and the birds were in mood. Will definitely visit back for the peacocks!

One of the main attractions here is the aviary – the largest walk-through aviary in India – where you can spot a variety of exotic and local bird species up close. Nice decent garden with lots of greenery. A nice place to go for morning walk. I have utilised this for my photography sessions. They keep decorating and maintain the flowers from your to time which is a good subject for photography enthusiasts. We have taken some nice pics from here. It has tracks which are well cleaned and nicely maintained. For morning walking and jogging these are good and covers a decent area to stroll. It is well maintained park.

A very well maintained park. It has two walking tracks and well maintained lawns. Cleanliness is maintained and dogs are not allowed. When i was a kid i remember that at the end of the park the Shiva statue was a fountain. But it has been many years since it has worked. In the children's play area slides etc are not well maintained. They have removed the swings too. Hence reduced one star. You get to spot many types of birds too. In the mornings it is fun to watch squirrels frolicking about.

The Freedom Fighter's Park in Mysore is a peaceful oasis where visitors can contemplate the sacrifices made by freedom fighters and Leaders of the country. It features colourful foliage and lawns, as well as a separate play area for kids, making it an ideal spot to spend a pleasant afternoon or evening.
At a distance of 2 km from Mysore Railway Station, Freedom Fighter's Park is a public park located in the Chamrajapura locality of Mysore, Karnataka. Also known as Subbarayanakere Park, it is one of the places to visit in Mysore. Freedom Fighter's Park was built to commemorate the 'Mysore Chalo' movement, one of the most significant events in the history of Mysuru which resulted in the establishment of a democratic government in Mysore. Freedom fighters assembled at this very spot, launching a resistance movement when the Maharaja of Mysore retained the rule of the state. As a part of the protest, the Indian flag was hoisted every day at this park by freedom fighters, which eventually made the Maharaja surrender to the demand for democracy in 1947. It is a huge park known for its unmatched beauty, lush green lawns, and bright flower beds. The major attractions of the park are the captivating and magnificent statues of the freedom fighters including Mahatma Gandhi. The park also has a separate play area for kids and space for yoga, meditation, etc. Revisit the scenes of India's struggle to become a democracy amidst nature's beauty at this park as part of Mysore tour packages.

This waterfall along the Kaveri river tumbles down over a rocky cliff near a Hindu temple.
Best time to visit this place is during Monsoon season as water flow rises. Beautiful place to spend time with devine touch since it is located besides the famous 'Sree Kodandarama' temple which dates back to thretha yuga.
Manikanta G — Google review
Nice place for a short family outing. Tourism department has built a watch tower and view point. There is a children's play area as well. Premises needs some maintenance - weed clearing and cleaning. They have now blocked access to the river, which is a good thing. Kodandarama temple is also well maintained and worth a visit. Note to Visitors - don't throw trash here. Take it back to your homes and dispose it properly.
Harsha H — Google review
If you want to hear the roar of mother Kaveri , this is the right place for it! You can hear the waterfalls from a good distance. I would highly recommend coming here during peak monsoon to witness the Kaveri in her utmost beauty! Situated right above the banks is Shri Rama devasthana , just beside the road from where you will be seeing the falls. The temple is well maintained! There is a decent amount of parking available but not manned or paid. On the opposite side there is a GIL Hydel powerplant. During the weekend this place gets very high footfall so for a peaceful experience, weekdays would be the best option. Behind the temple is a Hanuman statue and a small park. Nobody is allowed to go towards the river due to heavy water flow. Roadside food stalls available. You get various Chaat items. I would highly recommend you to try out the Sugarcane juice there! Overall a very excellent location, just that the crowd is high(thanks to the weekend) and with it brings littering.
Sivaraman S — Google review
Falls was at full glory in the month of July. Thanks to the Rain gods. Please follow the instructions set up local authorities and it’s dangerous to approach the falls to get a closer view. It has a great view from the tower, where the falls can be seen at a vantage point. Place has sufficient free parking and area is maintenance is great. There is a fun park for children to play too, that’s a welcome move. There isn’t any decent eatery/hotel for lunch/snack. All you will find is the freshly made churmuri/ puffed rice / Mysore pak and other condiments by local sellers at a very nominal price. IMO, It’s best to take Holenarasipura route to reach this spot than Mysore route.
Goku_ynwa — Google review
Chunchunkatte Falls is an absolute hidden gem nestled in the heart of Karnataka. Located about 55 km from Mysuru, this spot is perfect for a peaceful day trip. The waterfall is formed by the Cauvery River, cascading gracefully over rocky terrain. It’s especially breathtaking during the monsoon season when the water flow is at its peak. Surrounded by lush greenery and tranquil forest vibes, it feels like nature’s own symphony. The sound of the gushing water is incredibly soothing and rejuvenating. Unlike many popular waterfalls, Chunchunkatte is relatively less crowded. This makes it ideal for those looking to avoid the hustle and bustle. There’s also a small but beautiful temple right next to the falls. The temple, dedicated to Lord Kodandarama, adds a spiritual charm to the visit. The story of Lord Rama’s visit here, as per local legends, adds cultural depth. Photography lovers will find countless spots for nature and landscape shots. You can climb down closer to the rocks for better views, but do so cautiously. The area can get slippery, especially after rain—wear good footwear. There are very limited food options nearby, so it’s best to carry your own snacks. Drinking water and basic necessities should also be brought along. Parking is available, though not very organized or marked clearly. The road leading to the falls is narrow and patchy in places, but manageable. People are generally friendly and happy to guide tourists. Morning visits are highly recommended for the best light and serenity. If you’re lucky, you might spot some birds and butterflies around the area. The breeze here is refreshing and carries the scent of the nearby forest. There’s something incredibly meditative about sitting and watching the falls. It’s a great spot for family picnics, though supervision is important for kids. No entry ticket is required as of now, which is a plus. Cleanliness is decent, but visitors should help keep it that way. Plastic and littering are discouraged, and rightly so. This place is a wonderful reminder of nature’s unspoiled beauty. I would recommend carrying a camera, towel, and a small mat for sitting. If you’re spiritual, don’t miss attending a pooja at the temple if it’s happening. There’s a calm energy here that’s hard to put into words. Ideal for nature lovers, spiritual seekers, or anyone needing a break from city life. You won’t find loud tourists or commercial activities here—just peace. Do note: there are no changing rooms or major restrooms nearby. Best to plan your visit between July and January for peak flow. Even during summer, the falls don’t dry up completely, which is rare. It’s an offbeat destination that deserves more recognition. We spent about 2–3 hours here and it was truly time well spent. I’d gladly visit again—next time with a picnic basket and a book! Chunchunkatte Falls is truly a serene, soul-soothing spot worth exploring. ⸻ 📸: NIKON Z30 | follow me on instagram : @gibhili.jpg
