Points of Interest & Landmarks
Rizal Boulevard is a picturesque seaside road in Dumaguete, named after Dr. Jose Rizal, the national hero of the Philippines. It offers stunning ocean views and a leisurely pathway with benches for relaxation. The boulevard is home to historic landmarks like Silliman University Hall, which now serves as an ethno-anthropological museum displaying relics dating back over 2000 years.
Safe for a night walk. People are friendly. Not crowded. Lots of trash bins within the area so the cleanliness is preserved. Lots of food stalls to choose from.
Miraflor S — Google review
What a beautiful and wonderful place to relax. I was here during the morning and it was amazing. There were people running, walking, and walking their animals. Please stop here if you want to experience a unique experience.
Jeremy B — Google review
Loved just walking or sitting on the boulevard was so peaceful watching the world go buy and looking out to sea.
Alasdair S — Google review
A balmy, drizzly late afternoon stroll with the eateries already setting up for the evening. Much, much better (and safer) than Manila’s bay walk. The stores and restaurants across the Boulevard ( as locals would call it) are also interesting (with some familiar brands). If you want peace and quiet from the busy city center just drop by here for a stroll and people watching.
Patrick T — Google review

It turns to life at night. Never miss the chance to have a photo opportunity at the DumagueteMe signage. It feels good to walk along the boulevard. It's spacious, safe, there's a lot of street food and massage therapist for a reasonable amount. It also shows the historical value of the city. Tricycle is their preferred public transportation. The people are generally friendly as well.
Kenn G — Google review
Really nice promenade by the sea. The area is very pleasant with a few landmarks such as the DumaGetMe sign, monument to the Sisters of St. Paul Monument. There are stands set up for chess players and I think everyone is free to play. These areas are fortunately shaded, otherwise it's blazing hot during the day. Much nicer at night with the sea breeze. A very family friendly area of Dumaguete.

Silliman University, located in Dumaguete City, is a historic institution with a picturesque campus by the sea. Established in 1901 by American missionaries, it boasts colonial architecture, lush grounds, and ancient acacia trees. The university is renowned for its Anthropology Museum's ethnographic artifacts and the Marine Laboratory dedicated to marine biodiversity research.
I like the ambiance of this campus. It's vibrant. It reminds me of Miriam College along Katipunan Ave, Quezon City. Furthermore, they have a PhD program in Social Science.
WINSTON E — Google review
This place used to feel like a home away from home. Now, I dread traveling from my hometown to Dumaguete just to attend this school. Students in my department, including myself, have been treated unfairly and poorly. There’s no faculty evaluation at the end of the semester either, which leaves no room for improvement.
Akihiro — Google review
One the First University in the Philippines founded by the Americans. They’re quite strict today, as taking photo is strictly prohibited. Just ask the Security Officer, politely. He will allow you to take photo at a certain distance. Check at the century old trees … very amusing.
Maria S — Google review
The university is so clean, green and the students are so helpful and polite. The Narra tress are amazing. You have to pay 25 pesos if you wish to have a tour around the campus. It's free for alumni.
Do J — Google review
One of the oldest universities in the Philippines. Located in the island of Negros(oriental) Dumaguete City. Its like or similar to UP Diliman in QC. where the buildings of different courses are located in different areas so minsan kailangan mo sumakay ng jeep to go tne next department. They have a very wide area for a campus. Its open to the public to see and experience its vibe. Nakakamangha. Go ahead explore.
Bongga S — Google review
Their manicured grounds and towering trees just give off a sense of peace and quiet. The students seem to observe a low level noise rule and a modest dress code. Buildings are well preserved and their anthropology museum is filled with interesting artifacts.
Francie G — Google review
First time to explore and roam the place and was pretty amazed of how huge the entire campus was.Spent the whole morning basking in the beauty of the school. Will be back next month, I will make sure that my daughters will get the chance to see the school's beauty.

St. Catherine of Alexandria Cathedral, also known as Dumaguete Cathedral, is a historic Catholic cathedral completed in 1776. It features stunning stained-glass windows and an ornate stone bell tower. Situated near essential establishments, this timeless architectural gem attracts visitors with its impressive stone exterior and grand chandeliers inside. The cathedral's strategic location makes it a must-visit for those interested in history and culture, offering a glimpse into the region's rich heritage.
A solemn and peaceful place of worship in the heart of Dumaguete. The church’s historic charm and tranquil atmosphere make it perfect for prayer and quiet reflection. The lighting of candles is done outside, adding a beautiful, reflective touch to the visit. Whether you're attending Mass or just passing through, it's a spiritually grounding experience.
Catherine E — Google review
Historically important to the Catholic faith and the Philippines as this church is over 400 years old. Outside, it looked more modern than old to me, probably through preservation efforts, remodelling or restructuring. The stained glass and the altar looked majestic. There's headstones (small cemetery) on the left side. The campanario (church bell) is under construction so we were not able to get closed to it. No fee to enter.
Belle — Google review
Simply an amazing and beautiful church to visit. When I went it was mostly empty but there were some members cleaning the church and the grounds. The church is well maintained and the grounds are clean. Good place to stop and grab some photos and a respite on the pews.
Jeremy B — Google review
Beautiful stained glass throughout the sanctuary and acoustics conducive to traditional music. Acoustics for the priest and readers could be improved with a "rounder" sounding sound system, which would be a major expenditure. The open air of the sanctuary is welcome, although it can get warm. A stroll around the main building reveals lots of interesting shrines and displays that make the visit worthwhile outside of attending Mass.
Demzy N — Google review
A church has been at this site since the 18th century, although the present building dates to the 19th century. The church was made a cathedral thanks to the papal bull Sanctissma Ea Verbo of 1955. The church is dedicated to St. Catherine of Alexandria and there is a statue of her to the right as you enter the church. The building is Spanish Baroque. The interior has a single nave with no side aisles, although seats are made available outside the building during a busy mass. The side walls are decorated with pilasters throughout and in between the windows and doorways. The interiors are covered in white plaster, although the plaster nearer the altar seems to be newer as it has a brilliant sheen to it and really highlights the crucifixion reredos.
Chung H — Google review
A beautiful Cathedral with clothing limitations shoes and trousers and covered shoulders for ladies

Smaller than I imagined for the size of City Dumaguete is. My bad. I couldn't go inside as I had a vest top and flip flops on.
Mark S — Google review
If the surroundings are not to my taste as they show a too commercial image and disorganized atmosphere, when you enter in the cathedral you plunged into a respectful crowd and a beautiful architecture. The dome is a particularly noticeable realization. The nef is also to be admired as the glass windows. It's of course better to pay a visit during weekdays in order to fully admire the cathedral

The shop is famous for its Sans Rival cake and Silvanas, which are widely loved desserts in the area. Located at San Jose St, it's a popular destination for locals and tourists alike.
A MUST IN DUMAGUETE CITY, walking distance from Port. Went there from siquijor before going to Cebu.. ordered the famous buttered silvanas. The foreigner beside us was curious about silvanas we offered for him to try with the silvanas that we ordered and he ended up ordering silvanas hehe. Will be back for the silvanas ❤️. The cheeseburger is good too. Reasonably priced. Accepts card payments

We visited dumaguete and tried to dine for lunch at the bistro. It was indeed a very busy establishment yet they have really listed the order of diners that they need to accommodate / prioritize for a table next. - the meals were great for their prices (mid range price with very satisfactory flavor and presentation) - the service crew were somehow slow some meals takes a lot of time to be served especially for the desserts. -the ambiance was great in a way that it captures the heritage of the restaurant that have been tested through time. A recommended place to visit for Silvanas and San Rival.
Jayrald S — Google review
Sans Rival Cakes and Pastries in Dumaguete is a beloved local institution known for its iconic Sans Rival cake and Silvanas, which are consistently praised for their rich, buttery flavors and perfect balance of sweetness. The bakery offers affordable prices, making it a popular choice for tourists and locals alike, with many taking home boxes of treats as souvenirs. Its cozy ambiance and friendly staff add to the overall experience, though it can get crowded during peak hours. While the desserts are undoubtedly the highlight, reviews of their savory dishes are mixed, suggesting that the restaurant shines best as a dessert destination. Despite minor challenges like parking and seating availability, Sans Rival remains a must-visit spot for anyone exploring Dumaguete.
Rare V — Google review
I availed of their breakfast buffet last weekend. The taste was great, but the selection was limited to a few breakfast dishes such as various egg preparations, pancakes, waffles, corned beef, longganisa, steamed and fried rice, and milkfish. Seasonal fruits were also available, along with a few sweets and cakes. The place can accommodate a good number of guests, and the ambiance is pleasant.
Checkerra C — Google review
Haven’t been home in 2 years. It was a surprise to see the takeout place renovated with a much larger space plus comfy waiting area for customers. If you’re looking for a different pasalubong other than the popular silvanas, you can try the sans rival gateau which is yummy as well. Tried bringing one back to Manila in my backpack during my recent trip and surprisingly made it in one piece. 🩵

Deserve to be the best San's Rival and Silvanas. Food was great, but the fish is a bit tough and salty. The view is really good. Over viewing the shores that youll see the boats. Needs to improve the service but over all its great experience

Food is good. Place is nicely decorated and has a large seating capacity but can get a little too crowded ‘cause of its popularity. Staff is nice and fast.

Campanario de Dumaguete, also known as the Dumaguete Belfry, is a significant historical landmark in Negros Oriental. Built in the 18th century as a watchtower by Spanish priest Jose Manuel Fernandez de Septien, it was later equipped with a belfry in 1867. This imposing coral-stone tower served to protect the city of Dumaguete from invaders and warn locals of impending gatherings through the ringing of its bells.
The Dumaguete Belfry is a landmark in Dumaguete City. Right beside the St. Alexandria Cathedral, this a also have a very classical design. I just observed that the surrounding area is dirty and needs cleaning.
Efren Z — Google review
A Dumaguete landmark. There is a small park on the right corner of the structure, a candle lighting area on the left side, and a public toilet at the back of the structure- ( a single storey structure built directly on the coral stone structure) shocked to see how they treat their historical structure. The tower is in a sorry state. The veneered coral stones are coming off (not a couple of pieces but an entire section). Read somewhere that it is scheduled for restoration.
Leo L — Google review
Local landmark watch/bell tower. Currently under renovation and mainly the top half is visible over the construction walls.
Chung H — Google review
I was so excited to visit the place but it was closed due to renovations. I was able to get some views of the tower and the ground from the church and nearby government building.
Jeremy B — Google review
The old belfry is under construction so I only had the chance of viewing it from a distance. But it looked like something that has witnessed history-if only the walls can talk!
Patrick T — Google review
They're renovating it but I think it looked way cooler before with the old stones and the plants growing on the sides. Not sure I like the new white version but you can't see much anyway behind the scaffholdings
Gabriel C — Google review
Iconic landmark in Dumaguete. Must visit if you are into visiting well known sight seeing places in thr area. No tickets needed. The bell tower is beside the cathedral and I remember a park nearby as well.

Nature & Parks
Quezon Park is a well-known city park in Dumaguete, dedicated to honoring Manuel L. Quezon, the 2nd President of the Philippines. It's a popular spot for both locals and tourists, featuring a playground, historical statues, vintage cannons, and a gazebo. The park also hosts community events and is located across from the Dumaguete Belfry.
Large park in the center of the city. Very clean, beautiful, and well maintained. There is plenty of space to walk, play soccer, run, or even relax. While I was there, a group of people were doing yoga. This park is also well shaded.
Jeremy B — Google review
Last September 17, 2024 is the 108th anniversary of the founding of this park. It was formally dedicated on this day in 1916 and was named after statesman Manuel L. Quezon, in recognition of his role in passing the Jones Law on August 29, 1916—years before he became President of the Philippine Commonwealth in 1935. As one of the country’s resident commissioners to the U.S. House of Representatives, Quezon helped draft versions of the Jones Bill and developed a deep connection to Dumaguete, often visiting over the years. On March 6, 1942, Quezon and his family, along with military escorts, escaped to Australia from Dumaguete by submarine during the Japanese occupation in World War II. It features a wide-open space for public activities, a relief sculpture of Negros Oriental, playground, gazebo, fountain designed by Italian sculptor Francesco Riccardo Monti, a stone bust of Quezon (with a missing historical marker), and statues of Jose Rizal and Maria Clara standing on opposite sides of a clock tower donated by Silliman University. It is home to a variety of trees and other plants—narra, ylang-ylang, teak, auri, talisay, dalakit or balete, acacia, neem, bitoon, coconut, mango, mahogany, Peacock flower, Orchid Tree, and several others, providing a much-needed cool and breezy refuge in the city, especially in the face of rising temperatures. Parks and recreational spaces like Quezon Park are vital for the community, offering spaces for relaxation, social interaction, and physical activity. These green spaces, especially one that is an invaluable built heritage in the province, improve both mental and physical health, foster community engagement, and enhance the overall quality of life. I just hope none of these trees will suffer from underdeveloped ideas of “progress” which are usually under the guise of “development.”
Fjord — Google review
This is a nice little park opposite St. Catherines. It's also a popular spot for locals to wander around especially after mass. There are shaded areas, but it's actually much more lively in the evening when the temperature is cooler and people partake in activities such as short tennis. There's even some carts for young children for rent.
Chung H — Google review

Siegfriend M — Google review
It is park has so much potential but it needs a little maintenance. Two-man working for two days could easily make all the repairs. The small cost of replacing some chain, doing a little welding, and boating on some new wooden seats for the playground equipment would make all the difference for the children. There is a barangay hall right here, but i don't understand why they haven't gotten involved.
Ulamae T — Google review
"Kudos to Quezon Park for offering free WiFi! 🌳💻 It’s such a game-changer for people like me who love working outdoors or just scrolling Now I can reply to emails under a shady tree, stream a playlist for my walk, or share a sunset pic without burning through data. Little touches like this make public spaces feel welcoming and modern. Perfect blend of tech and tranquility.

Nestled along the picturesque Rizal Boulevard in Dumaguete, the Chinese Bell Church is a hidden gem that often goes unnoticed by visitors. This charming Taoist temple, set against a backdrop of lush gardens and the serene sea, boasts intricate designs and vibrant colors characteristic of traditional Chinese architecture. As you wander through its grounds, you'll be captivated by dragon figures, ornate bells, and walls adorned with Chinese inscriptions that reflect a rich cultural heritage.
So lucky and amazing to view this traditional temple in the small city of Dumaguete. I really appreciate it that l am able to get here for my worship of Buddhist faith even as a tourist visiting Dumagete of Philippines from the United States. I take this opportunity, to thank all persons and organizations for creating, supporting and devoting to this place, whatever your religions. Here is pretty beautiful, peaceful, clean and friendly.

Nestled in front of the Provincial Capitol, Ninoy Aquino Freedom Park is a delightful oasis that invites visitors to unwind and enjoy nature. This family-friendly park features scenic walking paths, lush lawns, and a charming fountain that dazzles with colorful lights at night. It's an ideal spot for jogging, biking, or simply lounging on the grass while watching frogs play in the pond. The park also hosts cultural festivities and showcases local arts through Sidlakang Negros Village nearby.
This was a magical place to spend the evening during the holiday season. The lighting created a castle-like feeling to the whole park. Children and adults were wide-eyed at the display of colours.

This park is the official center of the city where many events take place , in particular the Buglasan festival taking place in October. During that period and in the Advent, it is very animated and somehow nice. The different municipalities of the region are present with temporary exhibition constructions. Festivities anímate the park for several days. There were important changes which make the place attractive and beautiful now. Thank you to those who think, design, and realise it. It's really a pleasure to walk there

When I visited Ninoy Aquino Freedom Park, I felt a sense of peace and relaxation surrounded by the greenery and open space. The park’s atmosphere was calm and refreshing, making it a perfect place to unwind and reflect. I saw families enjoying picnics, students chatting with friends, and some people jogging or simply sitting quietly under the trees.

Photos were taken during Buglasan Festival so the booths and attractions are only there once a year. The park doesnt have many places to sit and any available don't have shade. The only exception is the area near the highway road with the huge tree. There needs to be more trees....

The park is nice, restrooms are dirty and smelly though, and not a lot of shaded places so it's only ideal for early morning and late afternoon or night time strolls.

The Cata-al World War 2 Museum in Valencia offers a unique glimpse into the impact of World War II on Dumaguete. Situated on the Cat-al family's property, this museum boasts an extensive collection of war artifacts gathered by war veteran Porforio and his son Felix. Visitors can explore Japanese, American, and Filipino relics found in Valencia and nearby areas. History enthusiasts will appreciate the opportunity to tour this personal collection with Felix as their guide, gaining insight into the region's wartime history.
The museum, located in Valencia, Negros Oriental, is a small but rich treasure trove of World War II memorabilia, showcasing weapons, uniforms, medals, and even personal items left behind by soldiers. What makes the museum unique is its personal touch—many of the artifacts were collected locally, and some have fascinating stories behind them. You might have found yourself immersed in the detailed narratives shared by the museum's guides or caretakers, who are often passionate about preserving history. Walking through the displays, you might have been struck by how close the region was to the war's events, making the experience both sobering and insightful. It’s a place that offers a deeper understanding of the war’s impact on Negros Oriental and its people, leaving you with a greater appreciation for history and the sacrifices of those who lived through such a challenging time. No entrance fee, just a donation, btw.

Private WW2 museum run by Mr. Cata-Al. He collected ALL the pieces since he was 6 years old exploring the hills and jungle of Negros Island. Negros island was the site of many infantry battles between the Japanese and US forces in WW2. Mr Cata-Al was personally responsible for finding and returning 15+ Japanese soldier remains and 5+ US soldier remains. Eventually the Japanese stopped taking back remains and as such he still has the remains of several Japanese soldiers on site (he shoed me but says he does not show many people). He had all the documentation and showed me. He's very serious about all of it. I spent over 90 minutes with him there discussing all of his collection. At times he became emotional over what is essentially his life's work! I wish I spent more time there! If you are in the vicinity, please stop by, see the exhibit and hit the tip jar. it's a treasure of Philippine WW2 history!!!!

My partner liked it a lot for someone who’s into WWII. It’s more of a man’s collection than a museum. Feels personal. We had a great time!

Mr. Felix is one of the most passionate when it comes to War History. It was my daughter's 3rd time to visit this place since she love history. Great collection. One of the best place to visit in Dumaguete
Claw M — Google review
The owner was very accommodating and very informative, he got a story to tell from each artifacts in the museum. The collections are amazing and educational, most especially to the young generations.
Jade G — Google review
This place does not require a ticket to enter, but I encourage people to donate so Mang Felix can continue maintaining the place. At first he was silent but when I asked about the ampules displayed, he willingly answered, quizzed us about random stuff and told the story about Santa Claus ad who originally came from Pepsi Cola but transferred to Coca Cola (he does have a proof for you to see). He also showed his 2000 peso commemorative banknote. He reminds me of Joey de Leon, the way he tells jokes and how he, being a historian, knows a ton of things. The museum is not enclosed, so some artifacts are being exposed to natural elements, which I hope they can address to preserve them longer.
Sherwin F — Google review
If you are into history, you must visit this. There was no entrance fee, only donations. The highlight of this viewing was when the owner played the oldest clock in his collection, the sound was like in the horror movie, creepy, my skin hair suddenly stood on end😬

Small a bit of placards with information, but mainly a collection of stuff. There’s even boxes of human bones found in the jungle east of town up in the mountains where the Japanese were entrenched during WW II. The machine gun they had was interesting, as well. Lots of old mortars, hand grenades, and a collection of hard to find books on the conflict. Oh and I loved the Minesweeper, something you don’t see every day.

The Silliman University Anthropology Museum, located in a charming 1909 wood building, is a must-visit for history and culture enthusiasts. Situated within the esteemed Silliman University, this museum showcases an exceptional collection of ethnographic and archaeological artifacts dating back to 500-200 B.C. Visitors can marvel at rare indigenous tapestries, hand-woven products, and other age-old items.
Worth the visit. Full airconditioned. Clean. Serene. During our visit, there were students (grade 12) assisted us. Picture taking inside is allowed but STRICTLY NO FLASH. We enjoyed the tour inside so we have limited photos. Regular Rate: 100 pesos Students/Senior/PWD : with discount

Nice Museum, if you in general interested in museums and history. It's inside the Sillimani University campus, so you must register by the security guard. There are shields that brings you to the museum. There is a lot of to see but 1h is enough. 100 php fee for adults.

This museum is one of the historical places in Dumaguete City. We came to visit before our hotel check-in time. We left our luggages in the hotel concierge and then took a tricycle to Silliman University (just a short distance from our hotel; fare at P15 per person). We came at around lunch time, but the staff were on lunchbreak and would open at 1:30pm. So we just toured around the university and had some coffee & fruit tea in nearby Figaro's. We came back at 1:30pm. There's minimal entrance fee. The museum is well curated and enough space for its artifacts. Not too big but okey for us to walk around without hurting our joints. Located in the second floor of Hibbard Bldg. Good that we visited for its history and learned more about Dumaguete City. 👍👍♥️

Not much interested in history, but since we have free time before dinner, we visited this museum. Nevertheless, we enjoy the tour specially on reading and knowing history on witchcraft or how to make potions🫣 They have an entrance fee, I forgot how much it is.

Very cool in both senses. Great escape through the beautiful grounds of the university. A lot of pottery as often the case in the region. A witchcraft and traditional medicines showcases caught my attention. A historical exhibit of the "formation" of the Philippines was very interesting. Great value at a 100 pesos.

Located right in the campus of Siliman University. We got there late after going to the national museum of the Philippines. 100 peso per person. There is senior discount in student discount but we paid full because it's okay to give a little extra to the museum. Because we got there late we just sort of ran around and snapped a lot of pictures and after the pictures were taken then we strolled and read more of the plaques and looked it more of the displays which were very nice.
Thomas O — Google review
Place is very cold and honestly a lot of things to look at. The university is such a vibe which reminds me of my school. The cards are informative and the whole tour is pretty affordable. Walking around campus actually gives a sense of nostalgia. Would recommend for those who want a break from adventure.

Great collection of prehistoric and early A.D. artifacts excavated locally. Shows the development culture and art from trade with China and more. It has pieces from Luzon, the Visayas, and Mindanao. Well worth 100 pesos. The building is also historic.

Sidlakang Negros Village, located near the Hall of Justice and Negros Oriental Provincial Hospital, is a permanent site for trade and tourism exhibits. It offers a unique opportunity to explore the diverse cultures of different towns in Negros Oriental through its pavilions set in a well-manicured garden. Visitors can shop for hand-made products, shell items, textiles, stoneware, trinkets, and furniture at native-looking shops within the village.
Perfect stop for tourist information to better experience the wonderful sites and delectable eating destinations in Negros Oriental 😍

It's a great pity to see that such a nice realization is almost abandoned. It was used for a number of years as the village of the Buglasan festival. Some houses still show the grandeur of it. Buglasan festival is now a days at the Freedom park which is certainly nice but rebuilt each year
Alain D — Google review
A good place to showcase products of different towns of Negros. Too bad we arrived late afternoon already. The staff said that the "houses" are only open during festivals. Some of them are dilapidated already. Bike friendly place. Lots of free aratilis! 😄

When we got there the vilage was under renovation and there's only one place we were able to explore, the one which housed all the goodies Dumaguete has to offer from bead jewelries, pearls, keychains, handbags, work of arts, and delicasies. I hope next time I visit the village will be open and I can get to explore the cottages.

Rented their function hall for our event but only 1 AC was working. It was't enough to accomodate our 100 participants. Their staff was friendly and accomodating though. Location is easy to find.

It so sad and disappointing to see the damages and the trash, could have been a great tourist spot, showcasing the native houses from the past of Dumaguete. Just like in other neighboring countries, this kind of tourist spot is main attraction. Sadly, it was not maintain properly.

Sidlakang Negros is like the Panaad of Negros Occidental. The place is open for people to explore all year round and the stage enclosed by the buildings can also be used for events and even practices. However, there are only two buildings here that operate year-round. One showcases local goods and the other is like a carinderia. When it is not the time for the Negros Oriental SIdlakan Festival, the rest of the area is sad, gloomy, and other buildings are even in a state of disrepair.

Immerse yourself in the lively atmosphere of Dumaguete Public Market, a vibrant hub of local culture in the charming city of Dumaguete, Philippines. Engage with friendly vendors offering an array of fresh produce, handmade crafts, and mouthwatering street food. Don't miss the opportunity to sample budbud kabog, a sweet delicacy made from millet and coconut that's a local favorite.
Such a good market with a variety of stalls, from fish, chicken, fruit to stalls of food to eat there like the Painitan offering delicious puto, or a whole section of dishes. There is even beauty stalls if needed a haircut
Maureen P — Google review
Painitan is a must- try if you are a tourist. It is made of glutinous rice topped with peanut butter, chocolate and condensed milk. It is sweet with a kick of creaminess. What is more amazing about it is that it is very affordable. Truly an authentic delicacy of Dumaguete. There are many stores which sell it. They also sell bread and hot chocolates.

Mamainit ta sa Dumaguete! ☕️ Our Dumaguete trip is incomplete without a visit to Painitan at the Dumaguete Public Market. The Puto Maya with sikwate, condensed milk, and peanut butter is absolutely delicious. The warm taste of sikwate makes you want to order more. It’s incredibly creamy and made from pure cacao (tablea). Price range ₱10-₱20
Robbie A — Google review
Walked early morning to the Market and try sikwate and Painitan 10-5-5-5 in stall #12 which the vendor said it is their bestseller and they were featured in KMJS. In another stall, I got budbod (though I forgot to take a pic 😆) For the taste, I would like this if I were younger, but as a trentahin, a bit sweet for me esp in the morning.
Fernando J — Google review
For people who don't like raw meat, not the best place. But, you get meat from the same day, not frozen and melted many times. The prices are a little bit lower as in the supermarket. Vegetables are also available even fish and more.
Ralph R — Google review
Few spots reveal the soul of a place as a public market because it is there you will find the locals unselfconsciously going about satisfying their daily needs. It's also where you'll see how they commonly interact with each other. I found the fish section and the food sections of this market very intriguing.
Dennis P — Google review
Eating at Painitan was a priority during our visit to Dumaguete. After seeing multiple recommendations on Facebook and TikTok, we decided to try the Puto Maya & Sikwate from stall #12 or Lourdes Stall. The price of the puto or sticky rice is ₱5 or ₱10 depending on the size, and ₱5 for the chocolate/condensed milk combo. We opted for the chocolate and condensed milk, and it was just right—not too sweet or bitter, simply delicious. It's like enjoying champorado in a more solid form (if that makes sense), although the taste is not identical. Service was quick; we didn't have to wait long to be served. There are plenty of tables and chairs, although you may need to share space with others. They also offer drinks like coffee, Milo, milk, and water. Overall, the experience was enjoyable, and I would definitely do it again when I visit Dumaguete. 😋

Ni ari ko kay mopalit ko og bangus because it was my mama's request. While nangitaay ko naay stall nga nag caught sa akong attention because the lady was wearing an apron from the team I supported most during the election. I got one bangus and gitimbang na nila and I asked if she could make it boneless. She said its 90 pesos because the extra 10 pesos was the fee sa pag boneless, syempre kabalo ko ana kay di lalim mag tangtang og bukog sa bangus. However, I got confused when she called the lady from last stall to do the deboning. I didn’t mind because all I cared about was bringing home bangus for my mama. She told me to come back later since it would take some time, so okay I went around to buy other things. When I came back, wala pa nasugdan og boneless ang bangus natingala ko nga wa naman unta silay gibuhat. Here comes another customer who followed up their bangus asked where her order was, and the lady pointed to the lady again from the last stall saying it was there but wala gihapon sad nahuman ila. I overheard the customer say, “Kanina raman to" jusko. I tried to understand the situation but to make things worse, the lady sa tupad nga stall aning akong gipalitan asked me to move to the vacant stall in front because I was blocking her display unya di daw siya mahalinan. Excuse me? I was just standing there waiting patiently for my bangus mura man sad og gitabunan nako ng imong tibuok stall. Ngano mag inattitude man? You could've asked nicely, ante. I decided to cancel my order because I couldn’t wait any longer and when I was about to leave she offered me a pre-cut fish for an extra fee. LOL, no! I’ve been to the market many times, but this was the first time I had such an experience. I was left very disappointed! Unta tutukan ning ingon ani uy.

The Negros Oriental Provincial Capitol, an architectural gem constructed in 1924, is a must-visit for tourists who appreciate historic government buildings. Its surrounding area, Aquino Park, boasts well-manicured grounds adorned with trees and a mesmerizing dancing fountain. Serving as the central point of the city's activities and events, this captivating landmark hosts Buglasan, a beautifully organized fiesta that attracts municipalities from neighboring areas of Negros Oriental.
An attraction the central point of the city. Nice building. But it's where the events take place. Especially the beautifully organized Buglasan. Everything around the Freedom park front of the Capitol is worth to see during the fiesta. Municipalities from the neighbourhood of Negros oriental are dedicating time effort and money to mark their presence. I enjoyed it so much. Sans Rival Bistro is a renowned establishment located in the cozy Rizal Boulevard, known for its colonial architecture and relaxing ambiance. It offers a delightful fusion of French decadence, Italian style, and oriental charm. While famous for its silvanas, it also boasts an extensive menu that includes Western favorites and bar chows.
It is WELL KNOWN to all that their silvanas are the best👌🏼 I always ask my Dumaguete friends to bring them as pasalubong whenever they visit Manila. I did not expect their food to be so great! All our orders tastes really good. The tapas set for sharing was really affordable. Downside was the servers are really slow and not so welcoming. Took forever to clean our tables and take our order. Highly recommended when in Dunaguete.
Ai B — Google review
What a delight to find a fancy restaurant like this near the famous Rizal Boulevard of Dumaguete. The brand is famous for its sans rival (of course) and silvanas so what a pleasure to experience the bistro side. More of Spanish cuisine, there is quite a selection to choose from. And of course you need to end your dinner with the famous (again) sans rival! The ambience of the place is so cozy ( renovated from an old mansion) and service staff were fast and efficient. The pricing is also fair.
Patrick T — Google review
Dining at Sans Rival Bistro was nothing short of outstanding. My family and I went in for dinner and every detail — from the food to the service — impressed us. We ordered the Paella along with a few other dishes, and each one came out perfectly executed, rich with flavor, and beautifully presented. The highlight for me, though, was finally trying their iconic Silvanas (yes, the famous Sans Rival Silvanas!). One bite and I understood why it’s a Dumaguete classic—crisp, creamy, and absolutely addictive. Despite the bistro being quite busy, the ambience was warm, inviting, and never rushed. The staff were attentive without being overbearing, striking that rare balance of genuine hospitality and efficiency. It’s the kind of place you leave already planning your next visit. A must-experience in Dumaguete — for both first-timers and regulars who know the joy of coming back.
Arvind A — Google review
The place is noticeably high-end with an interior theme of classical European design. They have many menu choices and most are expensive Filipino and western type of dishes. Spending a bit of splurge to this restaurant is worthy for me as the food we ordered taste good and satisfying. They have big servings except for the cakes slices. I think the desert is their forte with so many choice option. Customer service is also commendable.
Going P — Google review
A trip to Dumaguete would not be complete without visiting Sans Rival Bistro. We went there for dinner as soon as we arrived and returned before our flight to Manila for dessert. The dinner options were affordable and tasted fine, but the desserts were definitely the highlight of the experience. I also commend their quick and efficient service.
Mary L — Google review
This Bistro is located near the bakery, on the ocean side. We visited during a weekday lunch and the place was packed. Since there were hardly any seats left, we sat outside. The weather was nice and the ocean view was beautiful, but that turned out to be a big mistake. Unless it is raining, the outdoor area is exposed to exhaust fumes, street noise, and fine dust. On top of that, I could clearly see tiny black particles landing in the food, cakes, and drinks. The outdoor seat cushions were already dirty, and after sitting there for about an hour, the glass tabletop was completely covered in dust. Another issue is that from the entrance all the way to the terrace, people asking for money keep approaching. If you happen to make eye contact, they will not stop gesturing for money, and the security outside does nothing to stop them. ⚠️ Do not give them money because once you do, more beggars will continue to follow and ask. ⚠️ On the positive side, the food and desserts here are excellent. The mango cake was not overly sweet, the Silvana was soft and melted in my mouth, and the club sandwich was one of the best. Service was a bit slow and when I tried to pay by credit card (visa), it failed five times so I had to use cash instead.
Lena — Google review
We tried a few dishes here! Lasagna (₱155) was super cheesy—I loved it, but others might find it a bit umay. Salisbury steak (~₱260) had a small serving but was really flavorful. For desserts, we got red velvet, tiramisu, and ube supreme (₱80–130 per slice). Not the best cakes, but for the price, they’re okay. Caesar salad was just normal. The pesto lasagna was also super cheesy, but I actually liked it a lot. Ambiance-wise, it’s cozy and feels like a nice spot to catch up with friends or family without spending too much. Service was fine and food came out at a good pace. Overall, good value for money and worth trying if you’re around the area!

One of the recommended places to eat in Dumaguete. Since the 1980’s they have been serving flavorful dishes and drinks that are also easy on the pocket. Great way to entertain new tourist guests as well as friends and family.

Very disappointed. The calamares was good and that was it. Only had one lobster that was 25,000 ( yes 25k ). Burgers were way to dry, fries were unseasoned, the prawns were over cooked and not seasoned too good, and scallops had a bad flavor.

Saturday evening, Hayahay was too busy and ended up next door in Lab-as.... Lucky discovery because I really liked the food and the restaurant had air-conditioning. Service wasn't very attentive, but they did have these "Service" button near the table. Felt like a teacher's pet or an airplane passenger calling a flight attendant in the night for using it though. The dining room wasn't that busy, so not sure why staff was huddled up in a corner. The food was delicious and better than other Filipino restaurants in the city. Though the Macho Nachos (which had different prices on different menus) were a bit salty. The food was plentiful and ended up with leftovers. Meal for two with soft drinks/ shakes was just over P1000 with service included in the total. We'll definitely return to try other dishes.

Dumaguete–Sibulan Airport offers a cozy and intimate arrival experience. Travelers are greeted with thoughtful gestures like umbrellas for those who need them, even when it's not raining. The airport is small and easy to navigate, making it convenient for minimalist travelers. However, restroom facilities can be crowded, especially for female passengers. While the ventilation mainly relies on fans, the staff is friendly and approachable.
Small and easy to navigate airport. Comfort room has bidet. Has charging ports. What i love is they do not require to bring out your laptops when scanning (i bring 2 to 3 laptops everytime) so it really helps when they do not require the laptops to be brought out. Has free water, has massage services, only downside is very few food options to buy. But understandable as this airport is just small. Overall it is a good airport in my opinion. Very efficient!

Dumaguete airport is a cozy airport that has two food / coffee stands for departing passengers. The airport is around 15 minutes from the city or pier and is hence very accessible. For arriving passengers tricycles are ready available but they ask for a price that is way beyond regular. I like the city and I think the airport has the potential to welcome more international tourists judging from the availability of so many exciting destinations around.

Don't let its size fool you—Dumaguete-Sibulan Airport offers a wonderfully efficient and friendly travel experience. From the moment I arrived, the staff greeted me with genuine warmth. A word to the wise: the seating area before security is limited, so it's best to check in and head through. Once past the gates, the atmosphere completely transforms. You'll find a large, airy waiting area with a good selection of food and beverages, and the massage services were a real treat. This airport is a true gem, staffed by some of the most pleasant people you'll meet.
Jeremy B — Google review
A Mixed Experience Initially, I was ready to leave a positive review because everything went smoothly upon arrival. The baggage was delivered within minutes on the single baggage carousel, which was impressive. The departure experience started just as promising – check-in and security were completed in under 10 minutes, which is almost unheard of. However, the issues began in the departure hall. There is only one hall, and it’s extremely noisy. There’s a single food counter offering limited options, and during my wait, a guitar player performed for tips – loudly, poorly, and for an extended time. The combination of the crowd and the music made it impossible to hear important announcements, including updates about our delayed flight. While some aspects of the airport are efficient, the lack of comfort, facilities, and clear communication in the departure area significantly detract from the overall experience.
World T — Google review
It’s a small airport, served by Cebu Pacific and Philippine Airlines. I flew with both airlines and had no issues. Cebu Pacific even provided an umbrella and a bottle of water at the airport, which was a nice touch. Security checks were quick, all process done in less than 10 minutes. There’s also a water station available inside.
Lena — Google review
Airport terminal is too small. It needs an upgrade. It is too congested. If you need a legitimate van-taxi, I would refer you to Nardo (check photos for contact details). They will issue receipts and the van can hold bulk baggage that cannot fit trikes. I highly recommend getting a van-taxi especially if you are in a group. The difference between trikes and vans are minimal. But if you are travelling alone or in a budget, walk out the airport. Get a public trike outside the airport; it is way cheaper.
Joshua G — Google review
Easy to get in and out. Very small airport. It's under 100 peso ride to boardwalk Dumaguete on Grabe trike. Some guys want 300 pesos so be careful. If you have some time to kill, there are small restaurants next to parking lot where they have cold beer and smoking area.

Please everyone do not use airport parking at dumaguete airport! They have raised their rates to 25 peso a hour for vehicle and 15 hour for scooter with no adjusted overnight rate. The owner of the airport should be ashamed! Not even in the US do they charge so much daily fee! I love the people in Philippines but hate the greedy businesses owners and corrupt politicians! I parked at the airport not even 2 months ago and rates where 162 per night. Over 100 percent increase! I hope these dirty owners get what's coming to them! Just ride a pedicab when going to the airport you will save! Filipinos I hope you can stand up against such ridiculous rate increases!

Handumanan Souvenir Shop stands out as a must-visit destination in Dumaguete City for anyone looking to take home a piece of Filipino culture. As the city's oldest souvenir shop, it boasts an impressive array of items, from t-shirts and keychains to unique native crafts and miniatures of local landmarks like the Bell Tower. The atmosphere is welcoming, with friendly owners who are more interested in helping you find what you need than pushing sales.

1/10 They don't have a metal slab available to test their fridge magnet, which would have been helpful. Moreover, I found their souvenirs to be overpriced, so I would recommend purchasing them at tourist spots instead, as it can also contribute to supporting the local economy. Additionally, the sales lady's lack of accommodation was disappointing, and their hot-headedness further exacerbated the negative experience.
Joshua V — Google review
Good "handumanan shop", however don't shop the last minute in there. You have to check for insects & tap the bags prior to departure which I didn't. I have just gone through immigration & lost them all due to multiple variety of insects.

Souvenirs aren't as cheap as souvenirs on different province but I guess one of the reason would be because this is the only place we found to buy keychains and shirts... still cheaper than the tshirt souvenir place at Robinson's. Staffs are friendly and nice.

Lovely little souvenir store with the usual items. The owners are friendly and are not trying to push anything on to you. When it comes to native woven baskets, wallets, hats, souvenirs, wood on strings and t-shirts; there is no better place to go shopping at than in Handumanan. There were times when I found there limited stocks very annoying. Another downfall is that they over price their items way too high. If one would walk a few meters towards the boulevard, you can actually buy a keychain for 20 pesos instead of 50 or 100. However, when they do have what you are looking for you will be amazed by the quality and artistry it gives. It is right in the buzzing streets of the city. Would I buy another item there? Maybe.

A great place for local souveniers. All kinds of bags decorations and jewelry. If you want to design something yourself look for many kinds of raw materials.

One of the best pinakbet in the PH IMO. Great food & great service. Needs improvements on atmosphere & chairs/table ect, but overall great place to eat Filipino food!

We visit twice and we happy with the food here. The potion are big special soup, 1 person can not finish, be careful. We took bouillabaisse in coco, it was very delicious, alot of seafood. Fish also good here.
Ngoc T — Google review
Hayahay Treehouse is a great spot with stunning sea views, a prime location, and a reputation for fresh seafood. We started with the baked oyster with cheese, which was flavorful, fresh, and absolutely enjoyable. Next, we tried the Puso Salad, a unique vegetable dish made with banana blossom that complemented the other dishes nicely. We also had the fried lumpia Bangus, which was crispy and delicious, followed by the grilled fish of the day—Tanigue. While the fish was fresh and tasty, we felt the portion size was a bit small for the price. Our total bill came to just over 1,000 PHP. Overall, it’s a lovely dining experience, especially for seafood lovers seeking great views and a relaxing atmosphere.
Songlarb R — Google review
I think I had varied experience here. The first and third time were great and we enjoyed our food but the second time, we did not really enjoyed what was served and they were also lacking some stuff in the menu. Thankfully, we went again to Lab-as Restaurant and realized it's the same restaurant and the so-so experience was redeemed. I always come back here for the oyster and grilled fish and it's actually good.

Found this place taking a walk, had some excellent bands playing, great atmosphere, staff was great 👍
Blue F — Google review
We wanted to eat at Lantaw but they had no crabs or lobsters. We went next door instead to Hayahay and found what we were looking for. The chili garlic crab sauce tasted more like ketchup but the crabs were fresh and sweet. The lobsters were almost perfect (they were a tad overcooked), we had them grilled with lemon butter sauce. We liked the Baked scallops the best. The grilled chicken and pork weren't so great but not bad either. It was a pleasant dining experience specially because we had a view of the sea and the staff were very attentive and friendly.
Angie H — Google review
I've always enjoyed this place. They have really good seafood on trays and a complete menu of many different choices sure to please. One of the best views of the ocean and you can sometimes see for islands from the treehouse. We ordered crab legs, fish tacos and nachos. Both the service and the food was excellent.

The food is good but the service is not okay. Wait time is too long. The price on pitcher for non-alcoholic drinks is expensive. The restaurant price caters to foreigners rather than locals.

Esturya sa KRI Restaurant is a cozy dining spot in Dumaguete that offers a diverse menu featuring Italian, modern Filipino, and Asian fusion dishes. The restaurant provides a stylish ambiance and serves quality food. It's located near various accommodations such as Sola guesthouse, Wow hotel, Islands Leisure Boutique Hotel & Spa, and Hotel Florentina E. Rovira.
After a disappointing experience at the neighboring establishment, I was pleasantly surprised and thoroughly impressed with this place. The food was exceptional, and the ambiance created a warm and inviting atmosphere. Our server was attentive and engaging, sharing fascinating stories about the restaurant's beginnings and their commitment to using imported ingredients in their dishes. The flavors did not disappoint—everything was absolutely delicious! I left wanting to try everything on the menu. If you're in Dumaguete, don’t miss the chance to visit this gem! 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩

The truffle pizza was the bomb, and the other appetizers were great. A small but such a quaint space. Esturya is filled with eye catching art pieces, which the friendly owner gave us the story behind the craft. Definitely a go-to place for friendly or romantic dates.

Without a doubt, my personal favorite restaurant in all of Dumaguete! The staff, as well as the owner are always very welcoming and the food never disappoints! I have tried many different dishes, and I recommend them all! If you are looking for a variety with premium ingredients, Esturya is the place for You! With Esturya, you get what you pay for!

Was told this was the old Kri near Silliman University before. The food is fine, but I remember tasting better grub at Kri in the past. Perhaps one’s taste has changed or improved. The servings are still on the conservative side. We enjoyed the truffle pizza. The pasta negra was delicious recommendable, too.

The cost of the food is in line with its quality and quantity. As a big fan of pizza, I ordered the Napoletana pizza, which features freshly made dough. The staff understands the importance of good customer service, and I commend them for that. I also love the ambiance of the place—it feels like I'm right at home.

I have been loving Esturya even during its KRI days. Esturya delivers delectable fusion experience. I have been here so many times. The food and service remain consistently remarkable. The first thing you will notice is the warm feeling of “welcome.” The eclectic decor showcases art in many forms with pieces that weave their own unique story. Everything on the menu is a must try. The truffle pizza easily steals the show! Dumaguete is proud to have a place like Esturya sa Kri. A great addition to this captivating city! Thank you Richie!

THE MOST DISGUSTING Pad thai i ever had. It was so bad that it doesn’t even deserve to be called pad thai. The chicken was so weird, there were no veggies and the sauce wasn’t even close to asian cooking. ALSO OVERPRICED!!! I had many pad thais in my life and for sure it was the worst one. Located within walking distance from Rizal Boulevard and Silliman University in Dumaguete City, Jo's Chicken Inato is a popular spot known for its delicious chicken barbecue. While specializing in this dish, the restaurant also offers a variety of Filipino favorites such as seafood, pork, and other chicken dishes at affordable prices with generous portions suitable for large groups. Founded by Josephine Bejar Ng, the eatery has become renowned for its 'inato' recipe which means 'chicken.'
Bang for your buck! The food at Jo’s Chicken is satisfying, flavorful, and affordable. Perfect for anyone craving delicious local dishes without breaking the bank. The place is clean, and the staff are friendly and accommodating, making the dining experience even better. Highly recommended for a quick and tasty meal in Dumaguete!

Another must-try restaurant in Dumaguete! Their chicken inasal is really good. Although they only had the thigh part available when we visited (pecho not available). The kinilaw tasted like home. The pochero, however, was a bit off for me. We didn’t get to try the halo-halo as we were already too full. Overall, the experience was good. I would say the only thing they could improve on is the area on the first floor—it’s quite dimly lit and uncomfortably warm.

Food was fantastic. Especially the grilled chicken. This is actually way better that JT's manukan. Love how the sinagang is not that oily. The food was served after 30 to 45mins thats why it was a bit a let down. Needs to freshen up the interior of the restaurant as it was super slippery especially the stairs.

First time in Dumaguete and this was the recommended go to lunch place. We ordered the chicken pecho, it already comes with 2 rice and suprisingly "patis" or fish sauce dip. When we tasted, the combination of the chicken and fish sauce worked due to the sweetness of the chicken marinade. We also ordered the lechon kawali and it was also so good. Over all the experience was hearty.

This is what Cebu's been missing for a long time now. Dumaguete trip is not complete without a BBQ Chicken AND the epic Halohalo - served in a young coconut in the afternoon towards their closing time. Their other dishes are also fantastic and if you order the Sinigang, Tinola or Pochero, don't be surprised with the amount of soup they come in with!

Buglas Isla Cafe, located in the same building as La Mensa, is a culinary gem that offers a delightful dining experience. The cafe's all-day brunch menu showcases a variety of tantalizing dishes that capture the essence of local cuisine. Guests can savor options like breakfast chicken salpica and succulent angus beef tapa. The cafe is praised for its excellent service, polite and helpful staff, and superb ambiance.
We had a great dinner at Buglas. We tried their signature pizza, penne pasta, and lasagna, all of which exceeded our expectations. Although the staff mentioned that each dish was good for one person only, the serving sizes were actually bigger than expected, making them great for sharing. Unfortunately, we didn’t get to try their cakes because we were already too full! We went for dinner, and the place was quiet and relaxing, with only a few other diners around. The ambiance at night is especially lovely, definitely a great time to go if you want to enjoy the space more peacefully. Highly recommend for a cozy evening meal.

Good ambience, air conditioned and better environment, I like the aesthetic of the area, the alfresco area are good too, I love it esp. the Bibingka, if only they have more vegetarian options that would be nice hence the 4 star on the food, service are great, the owner should give them bonus, make me happy to be treated like this in a restaurant, hoping for more visit to this place. Hopefully they would renovate the ceiling though.

I loved everything about this place—from its location and ambiance to the staff, food, and beverages. The space feels like a charming antique house, giving off a warm, homey vibe that makes waiting for your food far from boring. There’s always something interesting to look at, which adds to the overall experience. The staff were very attentive to our needs. They took the time to explain the menu, served us kropek while we waited, and made sure we were comfortable throughout our stay. Their coffee was the best I had during my trip to Dumaguete—far better than any I had in Siquijor. Rich, bold, and memorable. As for the prices, I wouldn’t call them expensive at all. Every peso felt worth it. The rice meals were generous—easily good for sharing. In fact, we didn’t finish ours and had to take the leftovers home simply because it was too good to waste. Even their comfort room was clean and well-maintained, which says a lot about their overall attention to detail. Without a doubt, I’ll be coming back ❤️

Loved the ambience of the restaurant. The food was ok - the pork dishes on the menu were a bit disappointing as the base is always the same cut of fried pork but just with different sauces. The bbq and the desserts were good!

Arrived 9.30 for breakfast after a drive from Dauin. Parking for bikes is away from the door in a puddle (it did rain a lot last night). But why when there was 1 car here and space for 10-12 cars. Seated quickly, ordered iced latte (180peso) and eggs benedict ( peso). Arrived quickly, lovely, cooked perfect, although hollandaise had a hint of garlic. Had to ask for salt and pepper, it wasn't on the table or automatically given. After wafting away a few flys I was given a skinny thing for the table to keep them away, it is rainy season and the location is in a bit of a forest area, so understandable. Atmosphere gets a 4/5 just because it is Sept 12th and they are playing Christmas songs, I did ask why and they just said the supervisor picks the playlists. I dont mean 1 rogue song, it was nonstop Christmas songs for my visit.

Tried their food and honestly... the chicken liver was so dry it could pass as jerky. Was kinda expecting a puso (hanging rice) but got jasmine rice instead — plot twist! Price felt a bit steep for just two sticks of liver and intestines, but at least the beef tapa saved the day. Service was okay naman. Oh, and the receipt said “complimentary kropek” but I guess it’s just complimentary in spirit.

Casaroro Falls, located in Negros Oriental, is a stunning and photogenic waterfall surrounded by thick lush forest. The site is popular for swimming and picnicking, but reaching it requires a challenging 20-minute trek through steep stairs and rock boulders. Despite the effort, the breathtaking view and icy cold pool make the journey worthwhile. This impressive waterfall stands at an astounding height of 100 meters and is one of the most beloved attractions near Dumaguete.
What a happy accident to find this wonderful place. GPS didn't take us where we wanted to go, but it took us where we didn't know we want wanted to be. Easily accessible, I highly recommend water shoes because you will be going in and out of the water and rocks. I would also recommend a walking stick, especially for those of us of a certain number of years 🙂. That would help you keep your balance while crossing the rocks that move under your feet in the water.
Expandacraft B — Google review
If you want a leisurely stroll, this isn't it. Be prepared for a vigorous climb down, then back out, about 330 steps, and they can be steep. At the bottom you cross the river 3 times. There is a modest admission fee, and you'll be assigned a guide who will assist you as needed especially when crossing the river. It is customary to tip your guide. The effort is well worth seeing the Magnificent Casaroro Falls, which drops about 100 feet. The spring fed river water is cold, refreshing to those who are not faint of heart. We didn't stay long at the bottom. It was overcast and some rain had fallen earlier, and the guides were concerned about water levels to get out of there. There is a set of old metal stairs to begin the ascent out. It is Not the stairway to heaven. Take your time. If you are prepared for a good workout while you hike, and want to see one of the most beautiful falls on Negros, this is worth the time and the effort. Just be prepared.
Ralphmb58 — Google review
A truly amazing, almost mystical place. Great guide. A little tip: 300 steps down and up! At times, you had to cross the river using stones. Slippers are only partially suitable! A certain level of fitness is recommended. Nevertheless, a fantastic place, like something out of an Indiana Jones movie 😉
Thorsten R — Google review
Stunning falls, about 35m drop. However, it is 335 steps down and yes 335 back up, it's hot, humid, slippy and you cross the river 3 times so wear footwear that can get wet. You can swim in a small shallow pool near the falls but not directly under it. It was 250 peso entry with guide and 20 peso property tax. I gave 250 tip too. Walk up is steep, tiring but it is worth it.
Mark S — Google review

Amazing stunning waterfall with a steep stairs leading to it. Very clean environment as guides are mandatory for safety and avoiding environmental pollution. When you’re in Dumaguete or Valencia you can’t miss going here. The entrance fee is only 100 pesos, including your guide.
Ansel P — Google review
The journey to Casaroro Falls in Dumaguete is definitely not for the faint of heart—hundreds of steep steps down (and back up!) left my legs sore for three days. 😅 You’ll also need to cross the river more than once to reach the actual falls, which makes the adventure even more exciting. But once you get there, wow—the view is absolutely worth every step and every muscle ache. The falls and the river are stunning and refreshing, a hidden gem for nature lovers and adventurers. Just come prepared with good shoes, water, and lots of energy! ₱250 guide fee per group ₱20 entrance fee per person ₱20 parking fee “donation”
Kim A — Google review
This place is so exhausting but worth it. The stairs going there are so steep. Not used to walking so our legs were shaking already before we even arrived. We had muscle pain the next day.😂 But the waterfall is so magical and tall. I didn't expect it to be really nice.

NEVA’S PIZZA in Dumaguete City offers a variety of delicious and affordable pizzas. The Nevas Kuripot pizza is a budget-friendly option that doesn't compromise on taste. For those who love mozzarella, the House Special pizza is a popular choice with its generous toppings. While some have noted a decline in quality over time, others still find the pizzas flavorful and reminiscent of good times.
Delicious pizza at a very reasonable price! The crust is perfectly balanced—not too thin, not too thick—with a light char from the brick oven, adding an extra layer of flavor. Bonus points for their pet-friendly policy, as they allowed our puppy to stay by our table near the entrance. A great dining experience! Friendly Tip: Parking can be challenging during peak hours.

This restaurant wastes a lot of potential. - During noon afternoon there is no music. If nobody speaks then it's really silent, very strange for Philippines. Oh man, I used to love Neva's pho. I tried their new beef and duck pho option and it's was horrifying. Super fatty pieces of beef, despite requesting lean cuts and the duck skin was still full of black feathers. How unappetizing! I asked a server and she took it back to the kitchen where they removed some of the feathers and served it to me again. Also the garnish bean sprouts were already brown and spoiled and the lemon wedge dirty. I can't eat it, luoy.

The Shawarma banh mi was recommended to me and i ended up really liking it! Super tasty! We also had the roast beef which was ok, extra mashed potatoes (this one was great!), and steak fries (did not like this at all it was too greasy). Regardless, the atmosphere was really nice on the second floor felt very homey. Nice chill vibes. I also liked that they had a lot of options on their menu. I've been to nevas lotsa times before and all in all i'm always happy with each visit.
Gabi R — Google review
Neva’s brings back so many highschool and college memories when our stomachs would get angry at us. However, their quality has deteriorated, and the pizza dough was just… sad. It was pale and it didn’t look like it was cooked well. The Banh Mi was the bomb though! It was flavorful, full of spices and I just couldn’t get enough of it! It’s important to note that their prices have increased up to 40% as well, but it’s alright. Their prices are still worthy for a hearty meal that feels closer to home.

Affordable. Tasty. Home. This hits a good balance of these three elements we are looking for. It's good food for an affordable price. The place is also very coooozy and comfortable to stay in. No liquor served here. So you can't do pizza + beer here. Service is snappy when there are few customers, but a bit sloppy and slow when it's on a full house.

I first tried Neva's pizza in their Valencia location i like it so much then I found out that they have another one in Dumaguete so decided to give this wanna try as well . Apparently this restaurant is also a landmark in the area has been there for a long time. I tried their specialty pizza which was very tasty. Two meat pizza always starts with the right crust and this one tasted authentic . I found that most things here are prepared daily in the house. The owners travel around in different countries to try to triplicate the authentic taste of the food. i really appreciate when people care so much about what they do! I wrote a long review because this place deserve it. I highly recommend this place.

My family and I were very disappointed with our visit to Pulang Bato Falls Resort. The customer service was poor — the staff were not accommodating, came across as rude, and no one was willing to assist when we needed help. It’s such a beautiful place, but sadly the experience was ruined by the lack of hospitality. A resort with this natural beauty deserves much better management and service.

We didn't book a room, but we were able to use an open cottage with a picnic table. The water is cool but refreshing. Nice place to relax and enjoy nature with pleasant conversation. Vendors on-site for drinks and food, excellent shakes.

We loved our two nights stay at Pulangbato. We stayed in the bungalow and it was excellent. Loads of space on a big outdoor patio with living room and kitchen. Very large bedroom with comfy bed and bedding. Bathroom was spacious with tub overlooking the river. The food is great! Definitely try the chicken inasal and the buko shake! Location is stunning and the water perfect temps for swimming

Pulangbato Falls in Valencia is a hidden gem. The scenic views and lush surroundings make it a perfect spot for nature lovers and adventure seekers. The falls themselves are breathtaking, the water cascading down the rocks. It's a great place to relax, unwind, and connect with nature. The locals are friendly, and the atmosphere is peaceful. If you're looking for a quick escape from the city, Pulangbato Falls is definitely worth a visit. Highly recommended
Jessa B — Google review
These falls were a very nice experience. The upper (smaller) waterfall is accessible really easy and well as some platform has been built to make it part a swimming pool. The bigger fall you will have to cross a suspension bridge and when you reach the water after climbing down some steps you must climb some rocks if you wish to swim. The water for both falls is a little cold but very comfortable. There are multiple huts available allowing you to stay in this place for the whole day if you'd like. There is also a bar and restaurant available. We had our lunch here which was quite ok. The prices are a bit high though. We had no celular signal (GOMO), but there is piso wifi available. What I really liked about this place is how clean it is. There is no garbage to be seen anywhere and also the pathways are dirt free. Also it was not very busy, we visited on a Friday between 11AM and 1PM.
Quinten S — Google review
It was really nice if we got to dip in the water, but it was really too cold that time and it's raining heavily. So, we just took pictures and decided to take a dip in the red rock hot spring. Entrance fee: 100

Food and views are amazing 🔥🔥🔥 get really close to the waterfall and it’s super strong. we went when it was raining so the water got muddy. The food was great and it was awesome eating the waterfall. Me and my family kept ordering extra plates, especially for the Sisig 😋. They also have Wi-Fi for two hours for 25 pesos. The wild was really cool here as there are birds and giant worms around.

Restaurant
Adamo Dumaguete is a popular destination for food enthusiasts, with a variety of international cuisine options available in downtown Dumaguete and at the Rizal Boulevard. The restaurant offers a diverse menu influenced by European flavors, including German and Mediterranean dishes. Visitors can also enjoy Filipino delicacies such as crispy chicken bun, roasted fish, and smoked pork ribs. The establishment's cozy ambiance and efficient service staff make it an ideal spot to savor delicious meals while soaking in the local atmosphere.
Very delicious food at an affordable price! Coming from restaurants in Manila with the same food quality, the price here is around 1/2 to 2/3 of what you get. I especially like the chicken and gravy with tapa rice. Highly recommended!!! The ambiance is good, small but well decorated. Probably because of the weather but the air conditioning was not as comfortable. The staff were very attentive. We celebrated friends’ birthdays so they accommodated our request to serve cake we bought elsewhere. I would surely eat here again if I have another chance. Everything we ordered was so good!
Banjo C — Google review
My Go-To Restaurant in Dumaguete! Adamo is hands down my favorite restaurant in DGT — a reliable spot for consistently great food and a warm dining experience. I always start with the Salmon Salad— it’s a must-try. The fresh salmon is beautifully paired with a crisp cucumber, tomato, and onion mix that really wakes up your palate before the main course. We recently came as a group of 10, and sharing was the way to go! We ordered the Bolognese Pasta and Grilled Chicken Salad to share, and both were excellent. The pasta was rich and flavorful, packed with generous chunks of tender meat. As for the chicken salad — it could easily be my second go-to if the salmon isn’t available. The chicken was juicy and perfectly grilled (looked like thigh meat), marinated in what tasted like a delicious teriyaki glaze. We also tried the Pork Ribs, Lengua, and Beef Shank, and they did not disappoint. Every dish was hearty and well-seasoned. On top of the quality, prices are very reasonable — great value for money. Whether you’re dining solo or in a big group, Adamo is a solid choice. Highly recommend!

We have been wanting to try Adamo for a long time so we came for Mother’s day dinner, it didn't disappoint. We ate at the original branch, staff were welcoming. Had us seated outside which was very hot and no fan near our table, we requested to be seated inside which was accommodated despite being busy so thanks for that. All food was fantastic and well balanced especially the mango and shrimp salad and the smoked ribs. Free pudding dessert was nice touch for mother’s day. We will return

Overrated. Interiors were dismal and not even old house warm vibes, just really a house. Toilet was dirty and without water. Table was wet and busser was spraying their cleaning solution everywhere, including my bag. Wiped the table and it was dirty. Waiters didn’t know where to let you sit, and they were randomly giggling, and unaware of pending orders, and could use training, but at least they were friendly. Food tasted so so, just aesthetic, but nothing worth coming back to. Tiramisu was inedible
Leigh V — Google review
We went to branch 1 (booked ahead thru fb) and we chose to be seated outside since we prefer the ambience. The food is superb! We ordered the prawn and mango salad, beef belly pasta, bbq beef shortplate, and tiramisu. See the comments per photo. Value for money 5/5!!

I love the mango prawn salad!!!! My hubby found his hamburger excellent. But the pansit with smoked pork is a so so for me. AC is not cold. The next table took their big portable fan out of their car and put it on their table and I forgot to bring mine😆
Jane P — Google review
This was our second visit, and this time it was actually my 12-year-old son who specifically asked if we could have lunch here—proof enough of how much he loved it the first time! I didn’t get a chance to take photos during our first visit, but today felt extra special because we had our 5-month-old baby with us. The staff were incredibly thoughtful; the waiter even adjusted the air-conditioning without us asking, just to make sure our little one stayed cool and comfy. As for the food—still as good as we remembered. The beef pasta was a standout again, with beef that was tender, flavorful, and cooked just right.
Sponty L — Google review
We had to eat SOMEWHERE on our way to the airport, when we arrived they told us there was no room for us two. But a few minutes later, while we’re searching for a new restaurant, they told us they made a table for us. And then… we eat like kings. The flavors were amazing, like the best burger we ever had.. And the flavors with the salmon were outstanding, sweet, spicy, salty, crispy and salmon that melts in your mouth!!

Japanese restaurant
Himawari Izakaya is an affordable and genuine Japanese eatery that offers a cozy atmosphere. The welcoming owner, Yoshi, personally attends to customers' needs. While the reviewer did not indulge in alcoholic beverages due to driving, they enjoyed a unique moringa mocktail with red wine vinegar instead. The only disappointment was the choice of music on YouTube Music, as they would have preferred the Tokyo ambiance. Nevertheless, the restaurant evokes a homely feeling and treats its staff like family.
The ambience is just like a typical Japanese bar, feels very authentic and comfortable. Service is also good and very friendly. We tried multiple dishes (bento box, ramen, sushi, rice bowl) and everything tastes great. It's hard to find this quality in Dumaguete.
Gerwanese — Google review
We went here because this was featured by a YouTube channel. As fans of the Japanese culture who have been to Japan several times, I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant for food. The owner is Japanese and they definitely got the vibe of an Izakaya right. However, their food leaves a lot to be desired. I’m not sure if the quality of the food is because of low quality ingredients or because of bad recipes. The pork in their katsudon is very difficult to bite into. Their Yakitori (set of 3) is downright bad especially the liver and chicken skewers. The outside of the karaage chicken is so dark that it looks like it was fried in cooking oil that has been used several times. That said, the staff and the owner were nice and the vibe of the izakaya is definitely great. Maybe it’s great for drinking and not for dining. It’s really cheap though. Dinner for two costed us less than Php1000 so that’s something. The serving was plenty enough that you couldn’t complain. It’s just a shame that it doesn’t taste as good. At least there’s no otoshi.

I had such a great time at this Izakaya! The atmosphere was cozy and authentic it felt like a little slice of Japan. The food was fresh and flavorful. I especially loved the sashimi beautifully presented. The staff were friendly, attentive, and gave great recommendations. Our server made sure we were comfortable the whole time and explained the menu really well. It’s a great spot to unwind with friends over good food and drinks. Highly recommended, and I’ll definitely be coming back!

Great food, fast service, and relaxing vibe We ordered lunch combo, Shoyu ramen, 2 sets of gyoza, tuna sashimi, a mix of tuna, salmon, and special hosomaki, their signature ramen, and even took home a beef gyudon. Everything tasted great. The Shoyu ramen had a light but flavorful broth .. not too salty. Their signature ramen was richer and really satisfying. Gyoza were crispy outside, juicy inside. The sashimi was fresh and clean-tasting, and the hosomaki rolls were tightly made and tasty. The beef gyudon for takeout was still good even after a while. Staff were very friendly and accommodating, service was fast, and they even gave us something free on the side (a nice surprise!). The place is clean, with chill background music. I noticed they had a high chair too, good for parents like me even if we didn’t bring our baby this time. Definitely coming back

This izakaya instantly became one of my favorite spots in town. I tried this after seeing it in Youtube. The skewers are perfectly grilled. I especially love the teriyaki chicken. The shop has a rustic, cozy vibe that makes you feel like you’ve stumbled into a quiet alley in Japan. Great food, great atmosphere. Definitely worth coming back to!

Robinsons Place Dumaguete is a modern and well-maintained shopping center in the city. The mall offers a comfortable shopping experience with its clean environment and excellent air conditioning system, providing a refreshing escape from the outdoor heat. It features an extensive range of eateries and stores, making it a convenient destination for visitors. While it may have limited options for those seeking specific items, the overall experience at Robinsons Place Dumaguete is described as amazing by many visitors.
This mall has everything you need—stores for clothes, shoes, groceries, restaurants, coffee shops, and even places to buy pasalubong. I also like that they hold events here. It’s spacious and has pretty much everything you could want in a mall.

Robinsons Place Dumaguete is the best mall in the city, offering a spacious, bright, and clean environment. It has a great variety of stores, from clothing brands like Uniqlo to electronics, sporting goods, and more. The large supermarket is a standout, with a wide selection of fruits, vegetables, meats, a bakery, and even a wine shop. The cinema, while modest with only two screens, still shows some of the latest movies, making it a good option for moviegoers. Overall, it’s a convenient and enjoyable place to shop, dine, and relax!

Good size shopping centre, located on the west side of Dumaguete. Lots of shops, including grocery supermarket with good variety of food options. Unfortunately, there are usually long queue lines and it takes forever to reach cashier. If you first time, bear in mind that parking spaces for motorbikes are on the back of the building. To go there, see the screenshot of Google map I attached. Also, you should know, that “parking attendants” moving bikes around to save space. Most of customers giving them some change as a token of appreciation.

Ferry terminal
Dumaguete, located on the island of Negros, is a major transportation center with connections to Manila and Cebu via flights, ferries, and buses. The Port of Dumaguete Ticketing Office is where you can purchase tickets for ferries to various destinations. It's recommended to check ferry times in the morning as ticket sales start 3-4 hours before departure. The port area has ongoing road construction but is easily accessible with Google Maps.
I took the Montenegro Lines ferry from Dumaguete to Dapitan. The ferry departed on time at 4:00 AM **Pricing:** - Regular: ₱616.00 - Student: ₱493.00 - Senior/PWD: ₱440.00 The staff was friendly and the ferry was clean. Ports at both Dumaguete and Dapitan were easy to navigate with clear signage. Overall, it was a good experience with reliable service and reasonable prices. I would recommend Montenegro Lines and would use their service again.

Disappointing Port Experience – Needs Serious Improvement 😔 We recently traveled to Siquijor as a family and had an extremely frustrating experience at the port. Despite claims that online booking is prioritized, it felt like a complete scam — no available dates were shown, and there was no clear information provided about the actual process, especially for those bringing vehicles. The lack of proper communication is a major issue. You only find out the real process once you're already at the port trying to buy a ticket. To make matters worse, there appears to be a lot of under-the-table transactions happening within the management. It’s unfair, unprofessional, and reflects very poorly on the system. The entire setup is disorganized. Many people were stranded and unable to travel on their intended dates. In our case, we had to extend our stay in Siquijor because there were no tickets available on our planned departure date (Sunday), even though we arrived early on Saturday to try and secure tickets. We were only offered availability for Monday, which was not part of our itinerary. To those managing the port — please improve your system. Tourism in Dumaguete is growing, but if your port operations continue like this, it will drive visitors away rather than attract them. Your port is the first and last impression for many travelers — make it a good one. Thank you.
Marlest — Google review
Unbelievably obtuse. Not allowed to wait just inside in the shade while waiting for my colleagues holding the ticket. Controlling and unhelpful becoming so familiar in PH. It’s so unwelcoming for tourists. Multiple queues, port fee, more queues and airport style security. I’m an old man and they want to check all my bags and pockets!! It’s not more fun in the Philippines it’s hell
Jai — Google review
Mostly pleasant traveling by ferry. Mostly comfortable and accommodating boat ride from island to island. Terminal is clean and spacious to await the ferry and more comfortable than the Ceres Bus station. =) Three possible suggestions [not complaints]: 1. Seems like maybe it would be helpful on ‘roundtrips’ to get both going/returning tickets and seat numbers secured upfront rather than having to retrieve a ticket going to the destination and then another ticket again returning back like most flights. Maybe there is a good reason for that system but seems like that might alleviate the lines and the need for seniors to have to stand in line twice. 2. While the ferry loading seems relatively helpful to seniors, unloading seems a bit scary to those in their senior years or have any small disability that may be unnoticed visibly. Perhaps it would be nice to allow seniors, the disabled, etc. to exit the ferry first rather than having so many uncomfortably push towards the one open door! OR maybe, just evacuate the ferry five rows at a time to alleviate some of the pushing/shoving? 3. Maybe nice to reconsider having dogs sniffing bags if there are those who are allergic to animal hair. =)
Werk K — Google review
Upon arrival, there's a 3min walk to the exit. Tricycle fare starts at 10php per person at the pier, 8php anywhere else. Inside the terminal, there's 3 food stalls, an Oceanjet fastcraft ticket outlet for Bohol or Siquijor, the 2Go ticket outlet. Outside, there's a ton of souvenir foods and a couple of restaurants, also ticketing outlets for the slow boats or RoRos and small craft going to Siquijor. The departure terminal is spacious, clean comfort rooms, and a few food stalls.
Francie G — Google review
Lots of ongoing road construction. Port was easy to find with google maps. Security staff guided me where to start my RoRo process. It seemed like it was.an organized chaos. I had to go to three different booths to get all requirements. Small pier with limited parking. Not alot of restaurants inside.
Don F — Google review
Simple and quick. First - choose your operator and get tickets outside. Oceanjet's ticket counter is super far from the entrance. Pass through the security, scan bags, check in. And wait for the ferry. And thats it. 🤣
Rajkumar M — Google review

Originally known as the Dumaguete Mission Station, Silliman University Church was established in 1901 by American Presbyterian missionaries. It underwent a name change to become the Student Church in 1916 and later adopted its current name. Located near Hibbard Hall within Silliman University, this solemn church may appear small from the outside but actually has ample seating capacity. With its high ceiling, it offers good ventilation and showcases distinct architectural features unlike those typically found in Manila churches.

A solemn church tucked near Hibbard Hall in Silliman University. This church looks small outside but once you take a peak, you will notice that it can seat many people. Good and clean port. We arrived early for our 1 PM trip to Tagbilaran on OceanJet. At around 12 PM it started to become really crowded since there were multiple trips scheduled between 12:30 PM and 1 PM. Airconditioning is so-so. Maybe because of the really high temperatures outside since it is summer time. You still have to pay 15 pesos for the terminal fee upon entering the passenger terminal.

Fees, delays and crowds--the classic Philippine port experience. You'll definitely get shaken down here – expect to pay for just about everything, from entrance to porter services. On the bright side, they do issue receipts, so at least you know they're paying taxes. While it can get quite crowded, there's usually just enough seating to go around, and a few stalls offer some food options. However, if punctuality is high on your list, 'on time' is more of a suggestion than a guarantee.

If you’re looking for a peaceful and scenic experience, Dumaguete Port in Negros Oriental is an absolute gem. The port is incredibly orderly, with well-maintained facilities that make it easy to navigate. The smooth flow of activities ensures a hassle-free visit, whether you’re catching a boat or just taking in the sights. What really stands out, though, is the breathtaking sunrise view. Early mornings at the port offer a spectacular view of the sun rising over the sea, with warm hues reflecting off the water. It’s the perfect spot to pause, breathe in the fresh air, and enjoy the tranquility of the moment. Whether you’re a local or a visitor, the port offers both a serene atmosphere and a stunning natural backdrop, making it a must-visit place in Dumaguete.

University
Silliman Hall, located at the bend leading to Rizal Boulevard in Dumaguete, is a distinctive three-story structure that holds cultural exhibits with artifacts dating back to 200 BCE. Named after philanthropist Horace Brinsmade Silliman, it is the oldest building on campus and features wooden arches, cast-iron columns, gables, and intricate carpentry. The hall offers magnificent views of Dumaguete seaport and Rizal Boulevard.
We were walking around the city when I saw this beautiful building right here. I have always loved history so anything that looks outdated or old piques my interest. Plus, I am a huge fan of old architectural style too! So okay, I made some research about it and here's what I found out. Silliman Hall is a key part of Silliman University because it showcases the school's rich history and stunning architecture. The hall functions as a museum, filled with artifacts and displays that tell the story of the university's growth and the area's cultural heritage. Talking about it's architectural style, the hall is a notable example of Stick Style architecture, a form of American architecture that was prevalent in the late 19th century. This style is characterized by its "stickwork" design, which features overlaid board strips on the facade to showcase exposed timber frames. The building was constructed in the early 1900s and is one of the oldest structures on the university campus In addition to its historical importance, Silliman Hall is a lively part of the university today. It hosts a variety of events, lectures, and exhibitions, making it a vibrant center for intellectual and cultural activities. The campus grounds, surrounded by lush greenery and a calm vibe, add to the overall experience, offering a peaceful escape from the busy city life. One thing I regret though about being here was that, I didn't really get the chance to enter. I just took a photo from outside and that's it. Now that's something to look forward to, giving me more reasons to return to lovely Dumaguete!

I discovered this eatery on Google Maps, and it appears to be another vegan restaurant in Dumaguete, alongside the Green Chef. During my visit for dinner, I opted for the Cheesy Parmigiana Burger, Bucatini Garlic-Herb Shroom Cream pasta (without Seitan Parmigiana), and Magic Calamansinade as my drink.

I used to live nearby and kept coming back for the Matyow Special. It’s really good. The crew here is also amazing. Only a couple of things they could improve: (1) better ventilation, since you can get kitchen smells on your clothes after staying a while (2) dealing with the mosquitoes inside the restaurant. You can also work as they have wifi and power outlets.

Very good vegetarian restaurant with some very nice items on the menu. I especially love the ramen Both the Tonkatsu Ramen and Karaage Ramen are excellent, have nice strong broth and umami flavour.. The karaage vegan meat has a nice texture, while the soft boiled eggs with the runny yoke give it a good authentic taste. The staff here are fantastic. nice and friendly in that Filipino way.
Chung H — Google review
As it's a plant based veggie/vegan restaurant you'd think the staff would know what is okay to eat. We actually saw a review a week ago on Google with someone who had a severe dairy allergic reaction to food which was meant to be vegan. So as a result we asked very carefully which was vegan and what didn't have dairy as we are both lactose intolerant &vegan. We even showed the server the review from Google which mentioned an issue with the soy milk. We picked the karage ramen and tofu parmesian pasta, after I confirmed that there would be no cheese, milk or egg in any of it. We even picked dishes that avoided the soy milk. But when the ramen came, there were these white creamy toppings on the surface. I asked what they were and a different server from the one who took our order said it was vegan soy aioli. I confirmed again, no milk no egg, he said yes all fine. I tasted a bit of it and it didn't taste right to me. After a few spoonfuls of this ramen I couldn't continue to eat it as I had a feeling something was off about it. I asked the staff at the counter, what is in the aioli, is it soy milk and can I see the bottle because we are both vegan and allergic. The kitchen staff and waiters hear me and start talking among themselves, almost ignoring me for a minute or 2 while I'm trying to ask just to see the bottle. Finally the head chef(?) on duty shows me the bottle of milk, it's a brand called vitamilk, he says it's just soy milk but on the ingredients listed it has milk powder inside. I show him and say that it's not okay to be serving this to vegans or ppl with allergies. Everyone, kitchen and staff are acting pretty nonchalant about it and just say they will make a new one. To be honest I didn't eat so much of it as I couldn't really enjoy, worrying about other cross contamination or misleading ingredients inside. We paid and spoke to them about it. They were apologetic after they saw how angry we were but I honestly feel they didn't really understand how serious it is to know what's being served. Aside from all that the food wasn't particularly nice and the pasta was super sweet. Advise vegans to go elsewhere (The Green Chef was good)

Delicious freshly made food. Staff friendly but not very attentive.

Found this on google map. It seems that this is the other vegan resto in dumaguete. (The other is the Green Chef). At dinner time i ordered Cheesy Parmigiana Burger, Bucatini Garlic-Herb Shroom Cream pasta (without Seitan Parmigiana) and Magic Calamansinade for my drink. I loved the idea that the juice is violet and you will manually pour your calamansi to the drink. And plus point to the metal straw they use. The burger is surprisingly good for me. The pasta is ok. Loved the garlic mushroom taste.

We went here to enjoy a plant-based experience. We enjoyed our visit. The presentation of the foods we tried was excellent. We tried their tacos and they were good. The flavor was also enjoyable. A couple of things that needs mentioning. 1. Although I don't mind it they do serve non-plant food in their meals such as cheese and eggs. 2. Service could have been better in terms of attendance. Their prices were very reasonable as well overall so overall I would definitely recommend this place. Hope you enjoy 😀

Found a Great Vegan Spot in Dumaguete! We were on the lookout for a vegan/plant-based restaurant and landed on a perfect spot here in Dumaguete. Here’s what we tried and loved: Ube Caffe Latte - 10/10 the drink was as beautiful as it was delicious! The layers of color were so pretty, and the taste was amazing. It had just the right amount of sweetness from the ube, balanced perfectly with the coffee. Baked Cheese Penne - 10/10 this was absolutely fantastic. The sauce was rich and full of flavor, with the cheese melting beautifully into each bite. It was so comforting and satisfying. Matyow Special - 10/10 this was a total winner. The eggs were cooked just right and paired perfectly with the seasoned rice, crispy veggies, and tofu. The seasoning was perfect, making every bite a delight. The prices were just right for the quality and creativity of the dishes. It’s definitely great value for money considering the excellent service and fresh ingredients. We had an amazing experience at this vegan spot in Dumaguete. Highly recommend this place to anyone looking for delicious vegan food in the area!

Christmas House is a magical place created by Dr. Rico Absin, an anesthesiologist with a passion for art and children. The house is transformed into a dream castle with princesses and carriages, adorned with thousands of twinkling lights during the Christmas season. The enchanting garden, well-maintained throughout the year, becomes even more captivating in December when the decorations add to its charm.
Christmas is really in the air of this house. Got a chance to walk in this place. It had a lot of people taking pictures so it felt quite uncomfortable. The place brings out the child in us. Lots of christmas trees, decors, figurines and the lights. To complete the vibe, Christmas songs are played for singing along or for background while wandering around.
Raymart R — Google review
I had the privilege to visit the beautiful garden even if it was not the Christmas period. The garden is so well taken care of. The enchantment should be even greater if one is visiting the place in December with the magic of the decoration. The flowers the trees the statues are already a pleasure for the eyes. So we'll taken care of! Thank you to the lady who let me visit the place. A special mention to the 2 boys who open the gate so respectful. For those interested I just learned that the Christmas house will be open to the public starting December 16th! I will go. I went one day before opening and it's wonderful fairy. Go tomorrow evening. It will be magic. I went yesterday and the fairy tale continues. To discover the interior of the house open to visitors by Dr Absin. A great personality this man an humanist a generous heart. An unbelievable visit in this house. An unbelievable number of jewel. From one room to the other treasures to discover it seems impossible to count them and probably you need several visits to admire them. Ancient paintings sculptures. Everything is accessible to the visitors including the bathroom of the Doctor. Nothing is hidden. When visiting you live a extraordinary fairy tale... thank you Dr Absin for all that... Merry Christmas
Alain D — Google review
Every Christmas season this house is opened by Dr. Absin for public viewing for a minimal fee. Every year people flood this place mostly for pictures. Nowhere in the city (even the whole province) can you see one like this. I went here with my friends last year, I recommend you come here with your significant other. Be an instagram boyfriend to your girlfriend even just for this season. :D
Anton G — Google review
Sad to say, the place is not operational anymore 🙂
Chriselle C — Google review
Beginning the 16th of every December the house comes to life. Kids and olds alike will experience Christmas at its best. Lights, musics and foods delight to those who come and visit the place. Entrance fee is very affordable. Your FB page will surely flood with selfies and groupies. I would say the Christmas House of Dumaguete is one of most visited places by local and international folks during holiday season.

They gave me a bike that the starter was barely working or not working. I should have spotted that when the rental guy showed me how to start it manually. Also, paying extra for the helmet.. really?! Walk around, other bike rental are a lot cheaper (its a tricycle driver that brought to that particular shop)

Mount Talinis is a renowned mountain peak in the Philippines, standing at an elevation of 1,903 meters. It features distinctive hornlike peaks and boasts of expansive hiking trails that meander through its deep forests and picturesque lakes. Bediao Trail is a particularly challenging route which requires skilled guides to ensure timely completion of the itinerary. Before attempting this trek, it is advisable to train adequately for the rigorous climb while keeping in mind the importance of Leave No Trace principles.
Satisfying and beautiful trail. We went through the Apolong-Bediao trail. Over 10 hours across 2 days total hike to get to our several destinations and back. We traveled with 1 guide and 1 porter. Landmarks/Destinations: guard house, ranch house, falls, lake nailig, sulfur vents and the summit.
Jeric M — Google review
Breathtaking views at the top. The Bidjao trail was quite challenging and my right knee started hurting on the way down. The short climb from the camp to the summit was very steep.
Ced A — Google review
My first hike at Mt. Talinis was such a memorable experience. I joined a group organized by Sir Emman, and I was actually the only girl—but I never once felt out of place. We had three guides with us, which made the whole adventure much easier and more enjoyable. Because of their support, I didn’t really feel the hike was that hard at all. The scenery along the trail was beautiful, from the mossy forests to the cool mountain air, and every moment felt worth it. It was the kind of hike that makes you appreciate nature even more. Overall, it was absolutely worth it, and an experience I’m really happy I took on.

Taking the bull by the Horn! & Standing 1,903 masl (6,243 ft) with a 7/9 difficulty level. Conquered the second highest mountain on Negros Island after Mt. Kanlaon. It is the tallest peak in the mountain range known as the Cuernos de Negros "Horns of Negros". Listing as potentially active volcano.

I climbed Mt Talinis Aug 1 and was very lucky to have perfect weather conditions. Just a day hike so it was too tiring for me to summit… I’ll have to come back to do a nice two day hike to really enjoy and this time hopefully summit! Thanks to my guide Glecerio Chris D. Gonzalez for the safe trip, for lending me some gear 😅 (impromptu climb so I was unprepared), for good humor, and for his patience while I took a 1 hour nap at the lake campsite after lunch. 18.2kms traverse 5 am start at Valencia jump off 11am break time at Nailig Lake 4 pm end somewhere south west 1hr motorcycle ride away from Dumaguete city Warning: the sulfur smells bad. When you get to the sulfur area please be careful not to inhale it too much!! Gave me a headache. Warning 2: going down is treacherous I thought it would never end but it did and I got home on time✌️ Warning 3: make sure to bring food that doesn’t spoil easily. My lunch spoiled 😢
Katrina A — Google review
The squad went there last April 1, 2021 for a dayhike. We were 14 in the group. We had 2 tourguides with us. Schedule reservation was needed and guide fee is paid after the hike. It was fun at start but as the trail goes on, challenging paths were crossed. It’s the trek that would really drain your strength and test your body’s endurance. It took us 5 hours going up and 4 hours going down. The overall trekking journey was satisfying and fulfilling even though the weather was not good. It was fogging and raining but we still had a great time. As they say, the best view is seen after a tough climb. This was not an easy trek so if you plan on going to Mt. Talinis, make sure you do physical exercises for a month before the climb. That’s it! I hope this helped! Amping! ❤️

Bediao trail is one of the most challenging trails in the Philippines (It was ranked 3, if im not mistaken in pinoymountaineer’s website.) It was an honor to finish it strong. Make sure arrange guides before coming, it would cause less delay on your itinerary. Train hard before going up. And please practice Leave no trace, what you bring up, you bring down. Also, check the weather before planning in going. I don’t recommend hiking in a rainy/stormy weather. Struggle is real.
