Well established place with a menu in multiple languages. Check Google or the website to confirm opening hours. Usually closed on Mondays. May close early on Sunday. Tucked away from the main road, which is nice. The facilities are a bit dated, but nice; food and service was excellent.

We chose this restaurant primarily due to the dedicated gluten-free menu as my youngest daughter is coeliac. Absolutely great place for a family meal, excellent attention to the customer's needs and tasty food. Shout out to Luigi and Massimo (hope I remembered their names correctly), who made us feel at home. Good value for money; it's clear why this restaurant enjoys such good reputation, would definitely recommend.

Nestled atop a hill, the Museo Archeologico Nazionale "La Civitella" offers a captivating glimpse into the rich history of Chieti and ancient Rome. Established in 1938 as the Antiquarium Teatinum, it was renamed in 2000 to honor its historical roots. This archaeological haven features beautifully landscaped gardens, pedestrian pathways, and interactive spaces for visitors of all ages.
Quaint, nicely designed museum with 3 levels inside and the anfiteatro outside. Well curated and organized showing Roman and Chieti history. Entrance fee of 5€ and audio guide is free. Wish I could have spent more time here

Maybe today I was the only visitor, except for a group of schoolchildren who were trying to revive the past. Most successfully. The museum has a small and impressive collection. Especially the reconstructed temple elements are interesting and well displayed. The museum is well designed modern place. Spacious. So if you are interested in modern architecture, you should not miss this building.
Pieter V — Google review
The exterior, theater etc. is not that impressive and not that well preserved but the interior, the museum, is really nice with some impressive exhibitions.
Antenna C — Google review
There are a lot of artifacts, but the only headsets are in Italian so you don't know what you are seeing. There's very little in writing to explain.
Bonnie H — Google review
For a place that is pretty far off the beaten path, they have a shockingly good collection of Roman artifacts. Definitely worth poking around for an hour or two if you ever end up here.
Robby Z — Google review
The museum is small and poorly kept. It's a shame since the potential is huge, and some of the historical objects are super interesting. Overall, it's a sad reflection of how underfunded such things are in the region. There was a complete lack of information about the objects displayed as apparently, during covid, information panels were removed and never hung back. Audioguides are available but only in Italian.
Lorenzo O — Google review
A wonderful museum, carefully curated and very atmospheric with very helpful staff making for a lovely afternoon.

Congratulations to the young members of the Speleoclub in Chieti and the Chieti Foundation for their efforts in rediscovering, promoting, and providing guided tours of a hidden gem beneath the city. In fact, inside the museum is empty but I want to give applause to the speleo group of Chieti which sometimes opens the beautiful underground Via Tecla in Chieti which professionally shows the ancient Roman pipes which wind under the structure and I also want to point out that before the The museum was full. The museum contained within it the first fruits of local art by painters known throughout the world, including the "daughter of Iorio", a painting by Michetti inspired by the famous work of his friend D'Annunzio.

The Costantino Barbella Art Museum features a pleasing array of artwork on its compact floor, showcasing both classical and contemporary paintings along with sculptures. Downstairs, an impressive section full of astonishing contemporary pieces is particularly noteworthy. The museum's location within a beautiful building adds to its appeal. Visitors can expect a superb exhibition that rivals other museums in Abruzzo, specifically Chieti. The friendly and helpful staff contribute to the warm and welcoming atmosphere.
Nice selection of paintings on the floor where the reception desk is. This floor is kind of small yet has wonderful displays of classical and contemporary paintings and some sculptures. The best section is downstairs which was locked but they opened it for me. This area has astonishing works of contemporary art which left me wanting more. Really amazing paintings. Total 10/10 standard. Be sure to see this floor if you visit 👍🏼

(Translated by Google) I went yesterday and the museum turned out to be a pleasant discovery. Located in an important seventeenth-century palace, it houses medieval and Renaissance frescoes from the church of San Domenico, works and sketches by Michetti, d'Annunzio and Cascella, a temporary exhibition by Mimigalt and Spanish works immediately after the pearls: De Chirico, Guttuso and Mirò . Rooms organized effectively and in chronological order. In summary, great richness of exhibition, I recommend it to everyone. (Translated by Google) Let's say I was lucky, but also a little unlucky. Let's go step by step: the museum's opening hours (only Saturday morning until 1pm) make the visit difficult for a 'weekend visitor'. Unfortunately I didn't have time to visit it in the morning, but I was lucky enough that in the afternoon there was a concert and I was able to visit at least the first two rooms, with the frescoes detached from the church of San Domenico and several interesting works by Michetti, Barbella himself and the Master of the Crivelleschi Polyptychs. It is clear that it is a truly incomplete visit, missing all the contemporary part but never mind, that's how it went.

Archaeological museum
Museo Archeologico Nazionale d'Abruzzo "Villa Frigerj" is a captivating archaeological museum located in Chieti, Italy. Housed in a neoclassical villa within the Villa Comunale park, it showcases an extensive collection of ancient artifacts from the Abruzzo region. The museum provides insights into the millennia-old history of Chieti and its surrounding areas, focusing on various tribes that inhabited central Italy before Roman expansion.
Very interesting museum with many artifacts of pre-Roman history of Abruzzo. The Roman statues are there too, and for me it's the most beautiful part of museum collection. The most famous artifact is Guerriero di Capestrano, pre-Roman statue of warrior. Be careful: this statue is situated in separated hall, a bit apart of the whole collection. I went around museum twice looking for it)))

Very cool Museum, lots to see! They have english translation on their signs which is really nice. I will say, if you aren’t too good with heat, you may boil in here! They don’t have AC so it can be uncomfortable for some people, it got pretty hot in there as we were walking around. Other than that, it’s really cool and we enjoyed our time here! We just walked in, no wait, and they got us tickets right away.

A very nice museum. Archeological findings from the Abruzzo area. Very well curated, English translations everywhere. The exhibits are well-presented and easy to follow, and the famous Warrior of Capestrano is absolutely worth seeing.

There are two archeological musea in Chieti. Both top musea but for different reasons. Civitella is great in the manner that it displays the history. One can really imagine how life and architecture was in the past. Impressive reconstructions. A must. The second museum is an old style museum with lots of objects nicely displayed in vitrines. But the collection is really worth the visit. Impressive iconic statues. You can see a wonderful restored Roman bed, little bronze statues, Greek style vases, jewelery and funeral objects. From Roman times and before. The museum is also interesting if you plan to visit the countryside of Abruzzo. The museum gives a good view of the many archeological sites in the region.

This an incredibly beautiful Basilica. As expected it is quiet, which makes it a fantastic escape from the chaos of Rome. There are so many statues and pieces of impressive architecture to see. It is free to go into which is also great. Please be aware that there are services and people frequently go in to pray, so guests are expected to be quiet and respectful whilst visiting. The people we met were very welcoming though.

This church has a lot of beautiful interior decorations and is really peaceful. It’s kind of tucked away in a less walked part of the city so it wasn’t super busy and it was really special to be able to venerate the relic of Saint Mary Magdalene that they have in the front left side of the church. Getting in was tricky though because all of the doors except one were unlocked (the wooden one of the right side). Definitely recommend swinging by though!

The Basilica di San Giovanni Battista dei Fiorentini is both majestic and intimate. Walking through its marble floor, I noticed the “Sepulchrum Marchionum de Grillis” a quiet reminder of noble Roman families resting here, blending history, art, and faith beautifully.

When you step into a church and you are simply awe struck at the building, the art work and the Chappells. Then you attend a Mass. Then you find the foot of Mary Magdalena. You Thank the lord in places like this and how blessed you are

The Cathedral of Saint Justin in Chieti holds great significance as the primary church in the region. Over time, it has undergone several reconstructions. Although the interior of the cathedral is truly stunning, regrettably, chaos ensues outside as numerous vehicles are parked right in front of this majestic place of worship. However, there is hope for improvement as they are currently undertaking renovations to enhance the surrounding square. Chieti itself is a captivating city with expansive squares and a pristine environment.

What an amazing place. You walk along very narrow streets and then all of a sudden you emerge onto the Piazza. The cathedral itself is also very imposing. We started in the crypt and went upstairs. Only thing to watch is that it closes at 1200 according to Google but at 1140, as we left the guy closed all the doors behind us.

Fabio is so friendly, so knowledgeable and passionate. I tasted many of the wines and wish I was like one of the countless locals popping in one after the other and filling up with the grape variety the Cantine is offering at this moment. Highly recommend the wine and visiting this beautiful vineyard. Where there is knowledge, skill and passion…beautiful products are made. I bought four varieties of grape, young and old wine, and they are all fantastic 😃

Situated in the heart of the historic center, the Tempietti Romani is a remarkable example of architectural restoration. Anfiteatro Romano is located at the base of the old town hill, nestled among the pillars of a 20th-century palace. The amphitheater was originally constructed from earth and wood, giving it a seemingly modern appearance due to its lack of brickwork. The Teatro Romano is an exquisite and remarkable theater, undoubtedly one of the most impressive ones ever encountered. Regrettably, accessing it proves to be quite challenging as there seems to be an absence of any descriptive information. Astonishingly, it appears as if this magnificent structure has been forsaken by the city itself. Nevertheless, with minor modifications, these ruins have the potential to become even more captivating and appealing in order to captivate a larger audience.

Palazzo Toppi stands as a stunning testament to history and artistry in Chieti, showcasing its refined craftsmanship through various architectural styles that have evolved over the centuries. This magnificent palace features a striking crenellated tower dating back to the 14th century, while its current form is largely attributed to renovations from the 18th century commissioned by Diodato and Agatopo Toppi.
(Translated by Google) Beautiful photo at night. In a few days it will be just a beautiful memory.. the time to make room for the ghostly and cold LED lights, not diffused and scattered which illuminate in patches the rest of the darkness, not to mention the color temperature diametrically opposed to the atavistic one of the torchlight fire, which gave that certain amount of heat to the villages and historic centres, now reduced to cold shopping centres. The night is made of darkness and warmth, not of stadium lights, it is not Lapland in the months of eternal day! Unfortunately, ignorance and the barbaric abolition of beauty and respect for nature as well as its laws which the average man has achieved decade after decade, also leads to this.

(Translated by Google) The palace of eighteenth-century origins was completely redesigned in the nineteenth century, and in 1865 it passed from the Zambra family to the de Pasquale family. The long and imposing façade is enlivened by the cornice and the squared windows. Inside there is one of the most interesting stairs in the city made up of two ramps, decorated with Ionic columns, with shelves covered by small domes. The central hall and the other rooms are decorated with neoclassical frescoes. Born from the merging of buildings from different periods in the 18th century, it was completely restored in the 19th century. Once the home of the Sicilian counts of Alaneto, in 1865 it passed from the Zambra family to the de Pasquale family. Formerly home to the Faculty of Pharmacy of the "Gabriele d'Annunzio" University of Chieti, for some years it has hosted the offices of the culture department of the municipality of Chieti. The building, characterized by an imposing facade with windows, balconies and large round portals, occupies an entire block. On the first floor the windows are surrounded by stucco frames, while the cornices on the second floor are much more refined. The interior, characterized by neoclassical frescoes, houses various rooms and a double staircase, decorated with Ionic columns and surmounted by vaults.

(Translated by Google) Giancamillo, the president of the Il Canovaccio association, and all his collaborators, have worked for years with care and great wisdom, putting their high professionalism at the service of the community and creating a theater that is a treasure chest full of precious theatrical productions. Of social commitment, comedies, classics, dramas and also for children: the themes proposed are varied and suitable for all types of audiences. It is one of the most solid strongholds in the entire city of Chieti for the diffusion of knowledge and for the transmission of love for theater and culture in general to the new generations. The theater school is admirably managed and has produced numerous quality actors over the years, capable of feeling at ease even in the most complex productions. I recommend everyone to visit this splendid meeting place as often as possible, you will be thrilled. I close, as is customary in the theatre, with well-deserved and thunderous applause. Standing ovation! Standing ovation!

(Translated by Google) Small but welcoming theater and those who expertly manage it should be absolutely praised and thanked for this little jewel of art. The theater company that performs there is made up of young performing actors of great expressive depth. A "sacred" place to visit, because in addition to stimulating and stimulating the intellect and imagination, it is truly good for the spirit. The Piccolo Teatro dello Scalo is a magical place whose attendance is highly recommended.

It's good for the soul, it's getting involved, it's engaging, socializing, being a group but above all having fun. (Translated by Google) The theater is a small part of the city, particularly the Scalo area, where you can experience the same sensations you experience in larger, more famous venues. The combination of amateurs who are passionate about theater and full-fledged professionals allows for an intimate theatrical experience, aided by the venue's small capacity.

(Translated by Google) It's a place where art and passion reign supreme. Courses for all ages. If you've ever had a passion for acting but never had the courage to take the plunge, this is the place for you.
