Cathedral
Parish
Cathédrale Saint-Nazaire is a Roman Catholic church that was constructed in the 13th century, replacing an earlier structure. Positioned at the top of Beziers, it offers stunning views of the Orb River and the surrounding area. The cathedral features austere fortified towers and a magnificent rosette window. Visitors can explore its stark interior and access the beautiful 14th-century gardens through the cloister.
What a lovely cathedral it's in great condition and has not been messed with it's like stepping back in time, what is also amazing is you are free to climb up the 165 steps to the parapet just below the bell tower, a bit of caution here be warned it's not an easy climb it's a narrow spiral staircase and the steps are well trodden and for getting it if you have any fear of heights, just view and enjoy my photos that I have added. The views over the town are amazing and worth the climb for those that can make it, did I mention it's free, I have paid good money for a lot less elsewhere. So if you do use it do what we did put all the old coins in the collection box (before climbing up) and it will help keep this open for future visits
Steven C — Google review
Very beautiful place, dated back to the 13th century. You can actually climb to the top of the tower to have a bird view of the city. On the way there you will reach a balcony where you can see the church better as well.
S.R. W — Google review
Beautiful cathedral well worth visiting. Be sure to also visit the peaceful cloisters. There is currently an art exhibition there.
Shannon J — Google review
A magnificent emblem of Béziers, visible from afar, as if perched atop the Roman and medieval ramparts of the ancient city. Indeed, on the "Béziers acropolis," the majestic and austere Cathedral of Saint-Nazaire and Saint-Celse watches over the city. Anchored on a rocky promontory, overlooking the city, the Southern Gothic-style building stands on the remains of a Roman temple and a Romanesque church destroyed and burned during the Crusade against the Cathars in 1209 by the troops of the King and the Pope, commanded by Arnaud Amaury. Today, the cathedral is dominated by a 48-meter-high square tower topped by a turret housing an iron campanile with a late 18th-century bell. The upper part, dating from the 15th century, is adorned with columns, each base of which represents a human face. The bell tower houses a 4-ton bell named after Mary, cast by François Granier, the second most important bell in the region after the bell of Montpellier Cathedral. Numerous gargoyles, some requiring renovation, adorn the cathedral walls. Richly crafted 14th-century ironwork grilles protect the choir's stained-glass windows. Impressive in its size, the building houses 14th-century frescoes, a splendid 17th-century organ case, and a large rose window with a diameter of ten meters. Its magnificent grand organ is installed on a gallery at the end of the nave, whose organ case, in the Louis XIII style and the work of Guillaume Martois, dates from 1633. Its instrumental part also dates largely from the 17th century. It features Romanesque columns and capitals, vestiges of the Romanesque cathedral, but the majority of the columns date from the Gothic period. The transverse arches supporting the vault are from the 14th century. The supports of the galleries, located in the nave, near the choir, feature friezes with triglyphs and metopes. These friezes are imitations of the degenerate Gallo-Roman style, dating from the Romanesque period (12th century). The choir contains ancient stained-glass windows from the Gothic period. It was extensively remodeled in the 18th century in the Baroque style with a red marble colonnade running along the apse wall and framing the statues of the four evangelists, a staff glory, and a polychrome marble altar. Above the stalls are six large paintings. Three of them are signed Thierry and depict scenes from the life of Moses; the other three are works by the Montpellier painter Raoux and show scenes from the lives of Constantine and his mother, Saint Helena. The sacristy was built in 1443 by Bishop William of Montjoie, at the same time as the chapter house, and the walls are partly covered with ancient frescoes, restored in 1917. These frescoes were seriously damaged during the Wars of Religion, then coated with a whitewash that had to be removed later. They date from the 14th and 15th centuries and adorn the walls of many chapels: the Chapel of the Holy Spirit and the Chapel of the Dead in particular.

Incredible place with great architecture and calm energy there. Great place to visit if you are in Beziers.

The cathedral is very beautiful and transmits so much peace. The staff is friendly, unfortunately that day there were two weddings and we couldn't get into the top of the cathedral. Everything else, a must-see place in Béziers

Magnificent cathedral! The most beautiful I have ever visited. Splendid paintings, paintings telling the incredible story of Jesus. I love it. The stained glass windows are incredible. The view is breathtaking from the outside.I recommend you visit this while passing through Béziers. The city is beautiful and very old. She is attached to her history.

The Pont Vieux, also known as the Old Bridge, is a magnificent structure that dates back to the 12th century and is still in use today. It holds great historical significance and offers stunning views of Beziers, including the Cathedral and L'Orb River. The bridge has been reconstructed to ensure safety for modern vehicles crossing it. History enthusiasts can explore this ancient bridge as well as visit the Musee du Biterrois to learn about the city's heritage.
Such a nice little side trip on our way to Toulouse. There is free parking and a free toilet before you cross the bridge. Beautiful little town.

Nice spot to walk through the living history of Béziers, very well conserved bridge with nice views. A must to visit during your tour.

Iconic pont setting with church on top of hill. There are elavators on every level. No need to worry about climbing the stairs. From bridge/river level to the top at the church….the icon bridge level view is not to be missed. Even though the paroramic view at the top is a must too……
Seck W — Google review
A lovely old bridge - you can get a lovely view of the it and beautiful cathedral on the hill from the next bridge along (Pont Neuf). Bus stops are conveniently located for those with difficultly walking.

Very nice bridge. And ideal for best photos if the town. I took this from parallel modern bridge with the flowers. You cross it also in the petit train. But walking is good to get a good view. Both bridges are connected through foodpath.

Deffo great place to get a picture - safe area all good , car parking if ur lucky or on a motorcycle easy to park

Pont Vieux, the old bridge. Great for a walk with superb views of the city of Beziers, the Cathedral and L'Orb River. There are some wonderful photo opportunities here with L'Orb offering some mirror like reflections at times. The bridge itself was one of the few places in Beziers that was fouled with dog mess so mind your step when crossing.

Park
Plateau des Poètes is a 5-hectare English-style garden located in the center of Beziers. The park features landscaped gardens, ponds, statues, a lake, and a small waterfall. It is adorned with busts and sculptures of Occitan poets created by the renowned sculptor Injalbert. The park also houses a war memorial at its bottom and offers a playground for children.
Beautiful park. A real gem in the middle of Beziers. The petit train drives through it and gives you a quick look. Take it from me take the time to go and have a look for an hour or two on foot. It is beautiful.

A beautiful park in the heart of Beziers. A peaceful spot to sit and watch the city go by, visit the parrots, listen to the water, or watch the birds.
Robert F — Google review
Beautiful gardens, fountains, sculptures. Quite hilly though! Gardens very well kept and paths tidy and litter free. Great place to wander around for an hour or so. (Note that my wife lay down for a nap on one of the benches for 20 minutes or so and later discovered many insect bites so beware!)

Beautiful park in the middle of the city . We came in summer and was so hot so it was nice to seat in a shadow in the park

Beautiful park in the city center. It has a playground, animals, interesting plants, lots of space and a public toilet. The playground is pretty packed though.

It's a lovely park, lots of benches to sit or take shade. I use it most days from Gare Béziers to the upper town but it is steep. Fairly peaceful with fountains and lovely plants

Beautiful gardens and park with plenty of benches and shade on a hot day. From the station, take the underpass and the entrance is just in front of the war memorial. The pathways are quite steep. There is a children's play area and a small lake with a water feature.

Les Halles de Béziers is a large covered market spanning 2800 square meters, making it one of the largest in France for fresh produce. The market hosts local traders offering a wide range of products, from farm-fresh produce to wines. Housed in an original cast-iron building dating back to 1891, this bustling market is open daily (except Mondays) and offers an array of local fruits, vegetables, meats, and seafood.
A perfect place for a delightful apéro: There are at least two well-stocked wine counters, offering a wide selection of excellent local wines. You’ll find an impressive cheese market where you can pick anything your heart desires. And for true food lovers, there’s exceptional Spanish ham—both Iberico and Serrano—fresh, flavorful, and a real treat for those who appreciate quality.
Olga T — Google review
Great verity of food and drink options! However, the one that stands out is the fresh seafood spot. Great presentation, delicious flavours and great customer service. Highly recommend!
Anna I — Google review
Absolutely a wonderful place where you can enjoy delicious, affordable, yet refined food. The foie gras for just €8 was outstanding, and the wine selection is fantastic. There’s a great variety of cuisines — seafood, cheeses, meats, and more. Highly recommend this spot for a truly enjoyable meal!
Jane A — Google review
An important stop for a bite to eat during your day in Beziers, the people who serve the place are very friendly. The place is clean and doesn't smell bad. I had to go during a medieval festival, so there was music but it's appreciated. I recommend visiting it calmly
Sergio P — Google review
We visited this once vibrant marked 8 years ago. After the rearrangement in 2024 it looks and feels like the most sterile French food exhibition. It has been deprived of any charm.
Wolfgang B — Google review
Had an excellent lunch time snack here. A very tasty sandwich, followed by equally delicious cake. Quite difficult to find somewhere to sit, but worth the effort.

Les 9 Écluses de Fonseranes, also known as the Nine Locks, is a remarkable series of canal locks located on the Canal du Midi near Beziers. This UNESCO World Heritage Site showcases an extraordinary hydraulic construction designed by Pierre-Paul Riquet. Visitors can witness the impressive ladder-like locks that allow canal boats to descend by 20m using only the power of water.
We were in a boat going up stream and had to wait 45-60 minutes for a tourist boat to go through before space opened up for us. This is standard. It took about 45 minutes to go through all of the locks once we got started. This was one of the coolest things I have ever done and highly recommend doing it. We wish we could have gone down stream and then back up again but we had limited time until we had to return our boat. It did require 3 of us…2 in the boat and one on shore.
Terri M — Google review
Worth the walk for this historical spectacle. It's about half an hour for the able bodied, with nice views back across L'Orb and to the Cathedral. For the less mobile, the little train takes you from the Cathedral to the locks and return with interesting facts about the locality en route. Toilets and cafe at the top of the locks, plus option to take a canal boat trip. Best booked in advance in busy periods.
Jo G — Google review
Absolutely worth visiting. Buy a ticket for the canal tour. It will take you up the locks which is a nice experience. Beautiful area and go into Beziers after. Visiting the locks is a half day trip. The boat tour is 1 hour and 15 mins.
Raymond H — Google review
A masterpiece still in operation, these 9 locks that follow one another, you should not hesitate to visit this place. In excellent condition and very well laid out, you can follow the paths along the canal and arrive near the very beautiful and old bridge. From Toulouse, the Canal du Midi reaches Béziers via a 54-kilometer-long reach (a section of canal without locks). Over this distance, the canal remains at an altitude of 31.54 meters. But at Fonseranes, the canal must descend a steep 25-meter drop to reach the Orb, a necessary passage for boats heading to Agde. To establish the connection between the canal and the Orb, an extraordinary lock was built. Thanks to a successful initial experiment in Castelnaudary, Riquet knew that the secret lay in a lock with multiple chambers. Faced with the significant difference in altitude, Riquet and his works director decided to add eight chambers, twice as many as those of the Saint-Roch lock in Castelnaudary ! Work on the Fonseranes lock began in 1667 and was completed in 1680. The structure is impressive! At 315 meters long and with a total drop of 21.18 meters, this lock ladder is the largest ever built in France ...
Enjoy L — Google review
A rather exceptional engineering feat built in the 17th century to create a navigable route from the Atlantic to the Mediterranean. In addition to being a spectacular series of locks in short succession, the canal has a tunnel, several cool bridges including one for the canal to cross above the river. I recommend obtaining details about the history to appreciate it best. Boat tours are long if you take the roundtrip, might be best to join a tour only do the way back down, going towards the Mediterranean.
Regis D — Google review
A wonderful feat of engineering. Lovely and informative video in the information centre ( 3 Euro) Watching the boats pass through the locks, very interesting - especially when one of the gates won't shut. Pleasent walk from Beziers, through the old port area, which is going to be restored and across the old town bridge.
Paul S — Google review
Been here a coupke of times before. Now you can only walk on one side of them but still nice and its actually better for taking photos without a lot of people.
Erik B — Google review
A dream come true passing through the Fonseranes. Absolutely a marvel and one of the best parts of the Canal du Midi. It takes about 45 minutes to pass through with timed entry in the morning and afternoon depending on direction.

Arènes de Béziers, located in the charming city of Beziers in southern France, is not your typical sports arena. Built in 1897 with lavish Spanish architectural influence, it was originally intended for bullfights and continues to host them to this day. In addition to bullfights, the arena also hosts concerts, tennis tournaments, international wrestling galas, and even ice-skating events.
Nice and traditional arena. We came from Switzerland to watch a Bullfight. It was an awesome experience. We recommend highly the Féria de Béziers, which is held annually in August.
Carlos M — Google review
I am not into bullfighting so this is more of a review of the Arènes de Béziers from a historical and cultural point of view. For residents, August can be a boon or a bane as it the month of the feria when hordes of tourists descend on the city to watch bullfighting or simply take part in the merrymaking. True, the feria brings in revenue to businesses but for those who live near the arena, the noise level can be bothersome. There are several nice restaurants directly facing the arena, a protected heritage site completed in 1901 by architects Carlier, father and son. They mixed bricks, cut stone and reinforced cement. The arena hosts not only (bullfighting activities, introduced in the south of France in the 19th century) but also concerts.
Marlene P — Google review
Good open air venue for music, shows and food/beverage festivals (NB bullfights are a rarity now, never seen one). You need tickets for most gigs. Seats near the front are quite close together, but you get the best views. Usually hosts a free orchestra event with fireworks during the Béziers feria.

I liked the shopping center, I traveled from Narbonne to Béziers and I was surprised by the place, variety of shops and in seasons with good discounts.
Sergio P — Google review
Great shopping centre love the inside outside concept. But need better lifts and cheaper parking. 8 euros today for less than 3 hours all due to appaling service at Hippotomaus restaurant. My tip would be to eat before arrival rather than be charged to eat.
Zoe K — Google review
Concentration of major stores on three levels, but a well placed directory would be helpful. Restaurants on top level are disappointing. Parking garage is confusing. Difficult to find public toilets. I much prefer smaller stores within the city center.
Garet W — Google review
Absolutely a ripoff for parking. You are encouraged to sign up for the loyalty card to get 4 hours free, but you have to scan the physical card before paying. They don't tell you that you find out afterwards. Cost is exorbitantly excessive. I stayed locally and parked at the Polygone. When I came to pay, it cost €56 for just 11 hours with no discount. Don't waste your money. Some street parking is free after 1730 overnight, and much more is absolutely free. I complained about the excessive cost, they don't care. If I could give a negative feedback score, I would give -50 .
Ian H — Google review
Great shopping centre with lots of choice and lots of restaurants! Very tranquil feeling lower ground with the water, trees and fresh water fish...
Peter L — Google review
Nice shopping centre - but disappointed by the toilets. I needed to take my 4 year old daughter to the loo. Unfortunately, the loos were difficult to find and when we eventually found them, we had to queue up to buy a ticket (for 50 cents) from the machine. I bought one, which I thought I could use in the baby changing room (since there was no other obvious place I could take a child), but there was no loo! ... So had to go back and buy another ticket to accompany my daughter in the adult loos... Only to find the ticket I had used for the baby changing room was no longer valid, so had to queue for a third time and another 50 cents! Eventually I worked it out by which point my daughter was bursting. Obviously, I had to take her into gents, but cubicles didn't seem very child friendly. Clearly this place has not been designed with children in mind.
Simon D — Google review
Very interesting and upscale shops. Not outrageously priced. Parking is expensive if you don't get a discount card when you purchase something. Good food court.

La Maison de Petit Pierre is a stylish bistro-style restaurant located at 22 Avenue Pierre Verdier, Beziers, France. The restaurant offers daily changing menus and features a charming garden and patio for outdoor dining. Owned by Pierre Auge, also known as Petit Pierre, the restaurant has a rich history dating back to the late seventies when he took over his father's restaurant in Beziers. We loved everything about this place. The decoration was beautiful. The staff were nice and very helpful. The chef even went to say hi and ask if everything was ok. Faultless. Really enjoyed our surprise meal. My pork was the best I’ve tasted all year. Efficient, friendly service. The vibe is boho beach. It’s a large restaurant so not intimate but still good for dating couples and large groups. Reasonable prices.

Where to begin! Without doubt one of the best dining experiences we have had. The service from the start to the end was exemplary. The atmosphere is tasteful and fun....and then there is the food. Each course wonderfully explained despite the language barrier. The care and commitment to turn amazing produce into fantastic dining is quite brilliant. I felt like each dish particularly the entree, was literally summer described on a plate for me to taste. Thank you, it was a privilage to have experienced such a great restaurant and your staff are all so well trained, they are a credit to you.

A very enjoyable restaurant. Food is tasty, Mediterranean but with a lot of energy. Great cocktails (gin with rosemary, mojito), nice selection of local wines. And very and good and amicable service. Also the place has a nice atmosphere and a nice smell. I will definitely come back.

“A beautiful fiasco” After a lukewarm welcome it felt like you had to leave in 10 minutes. Since it was our anniversary we wanted to start with a nice glass of champagne which before it arrived was already the drink for the amuse which was almost on the table before we sat down. And before we had the chance to finish our amuse the entree was being served. No mention of a wine list or anything else to drink with our actual menu. After asking we received the wine list and since it’s not really a list made the choice somewhat difficult. We asked our nice waiter if he had a suggestion, which he had. He kindly served a glass to taste but apparently it was just a glass instead of the bottle we ordered. After some back and forth they were able to find the bottle with our two glasses missing from it instead of the new bottle they wanted to open on top of the two glasses. Then the main dish arrived, again too fast after asking if they could please slow down a tiny bit, a filet of dorade certainly not royal. Cooked sous vide and barely finished on a half hot plate among 20 other filets all gently waiting to be served. When asked if we liked it, we didn’t have a poker face, which apparently came across as an attack on a personal level and not on the quality of the fish. Plates removed without hesitation with the notice we would get the same. We asked how it was prepared we got the answer “pan”. I don’t say this lightly but I’ve never seen a restaurant without any pans until today. No pans, no smell of butter and two “chefs” in the kitchen heating up dishes. I guess there’s a fine line between catering and a restaurant but sadly I would not call this a restaurant or a very good catering business. Still we try to be nice customers in general, so we tried to pay (multiple times) for the produce we had until that point. We were told we should not worry about the money and we could leave immediately. So if you’re looking for an experience close to sitting in your high school Mensa or canteen this is the place for you. If not maybe, don’t go. I hope they just had a bad week. The season was long which we understand. But in the end it’s called hospitality. 1 Star.

Very nice and creative food. Nice seasoning, copious amount of food and a really reasonable pricing for the quality and quantity of the good. A very good selection of wine too. The atmosphere is nice but with so many tables, it feels a bit like a chain because so many people need to eat at the same time. Beware of the time you need to eat though, we arrived at 12:00, took the biggest menu and we were out at 15:30 after a coffee. It can get quite hot on the terrace but it's fresher if you eat indoors. They ask about food allergies and preferences before hand so you're likely to have alternative options if there's some stuff you don't eat.

Église de la Madeleine, located in Beziers, has a rich and tragic history dating back to the 11th century. The church was built on the site where thousands of inhabitants were massacred during the Albigensian Crusade in 1209. Despite this dark past, today it stands as a symbol of peace and tranquility. Visitors are drawn to its Gothic architecture and serene atmosphere.

This church was rebuilt on the site of the 1209 massacre. If you're in Beziers don't miss going there. I have visited many churches and cathedrals in Europe and the UK but Madeleine is one of the most atmospheric and moving I've experienced. I spent a lot of time there.

Beatiful romanesque, modest exterior, but due to the organizational chaos (different opening hours indicated in on the church, in the guide and in the tourist information office), visting of the intrerior is rocket-science job (never knew when the church will be open). Christianity in France came to end, and tourist movement surely will die in pain.

Every August, the vibrant city of Béziers transforms into a lively hub of celebration for the Feria de Béziers, a festival that runs for four exhilarating days starting around the 15th. Drawing inspiration from Spanish bullfighting traditions, this event fills the streets with an array of food stalls and beer booths, inviting visitors to indulge in local flavors. The atmosphere is electric as crowds gather to enjoy thrilling bullfights alongside captivating live music and traditional dances.

(Translated by Google) Having the feria, the party we are for and we need it. But we are against bullfighting. It's horrible. We are disappointed with this practice. It's not human. As a result, we regretted having participated in the mass in the arenas because we had not considered that bulls were killed there. When we think about it, we find this contradictory. Not enough street art. Way too much food and alcohol. Very disappointed that the Barvynok troupe from Ukraine was not scheduled at specific times on the big stage because they are wonderful, professional, that's a quality show! Too complicated to meet them in the streets. Very frustrating to arrive at the end of the show. I think they should have been scheduled at specific locations and times. The sound and light at the Madeleine is also sublime! And the flamenco at 10:30 p.m. Saturday August 17, 2024 at the poets’ plateau was quality. These 3 events that we saw were very cultural. Well done ! On the 3 times we came and left, we encountered zero police on the road to check the alcohol level because not everyone is responsible in this world. I find that it's an invitation to people to drink. Too bad because the party is good!

For those who find that there are too many people, you should not come to the fair, ladies and gentlemen. Not very well advertised but well worth a visit. At 38’C outside it was wonderful to wander around this remarkable building. Absolutely fascinating to see the opulence and style of a grand mansion of old. The exhibits were equally fascinating. With polite staff, two shops, and ample parking, it ensures convenience for travelers.
A small and perfectly adequate airport. Passport control and security are quick since there are so few flights going from here. Toilets were clean. Shuttle bus is timed to coincide with the arrival of the flights. (Bus is cash only FYI). Would visit again.

For the size of the airport it wasn't bad, however there are definitely not enough toilets when you get through passport control, nor is there enough seating for people! There is also only a small shop and no duty free. However getting through security was reasonably quick and easy and the staff were very nice. Yes I would visit again though as it's definitely cheap enough to fly there.

Airport is Tiny, There is a Bus from outside the terminal, one bus goes to D'Agde(The Coast), The other bus Goes to Bezier(Costs under €2 Each), Cash machine outside the station. Polite and friendly staff, 2 shops inside the terminal, Plenty of parking. When we headed back to the airport from Bezier we used Bolt as Uber wasn't popular locally in our experience. 5☆

Fine for flying into, less good for flying out. Queues for everything and the departure lounge is wholly inadequate. Very uncomfortable seating and the food and drink options are very limited (I mean, very limited indeed!) and there are are only two WCs. No lounge. Limited public transport, despite a train line running adjacent.

If you want customer service, avoid Bread & Co at Béziers Airport. While waiting for our flight to Shannon, the woman behind the counter showed a complete lack of care and professionalism. She spent several minutes complaining to a colleague in detail about her personal drama while we were standing there waiting to pay. Even when customers approached the counter, she continued her personal phone conversation instead of assisting them. Absolutely disgraceful behaviour, this kind of attitude is exactly why France gets an undeserved reputation for having little to no customer service. As for the airport itself, it’s fine if you are not expecting too much, it is a small airport. It’s true there aren’t enough seats for everyone while waiting for the flight, but otherwise it was okay. It would, however, be much better if there were more than one toilet for women.

Located in the heart of Beziers, the tree-lined Allées Paul Riquet is a prominent historical attraction. This wide pedestrian boulevard showcases stunning architecture typical of the South of France. Serving as a gateway to Beziers, it leads visitors past notable landmarks such as the charming Ferris wheel and grand theatre. In addition to its architectural splendor, Allées Paul Riquet offers a vibrant atmosphere with lively summer evenings featuring captivating decorations and musical ambience.
This is the first place to go to when in Béziers and the "makeover" done in 2023 has given it a bright, fresh, wholesome look with its new cream colored tiles, compared to before, when the ground was uneven and of dark gray asphalt. When you look at my photos, you will see the Theater at one end and as you walk towards the other end you will see the Plateau des Poètes and bordered by the recently renovated Place Jean-Jaurès. In the middle of this long tree lined promenade stands the bronze statue of the designer of the Canal du Midi, Pierre-Paul Riquet. Nearing Christmas there are numerous stall selling crepes, chestnuts, sweets; rides for the children ( carousel, mini planes, trains, etc.) There is weekly flower market. At times, an antique flea market, book vendors, concerts. Anyway, there needn't be a special event to come here. Just sit on one of the benches along the Allées, savour the moment, enjoy the scenery.

(Translated by Google) I loved walking along the Paul Riquet avenues in F-34 Béziers. They surprisingly resemble the Ramblas of Barcelona! Walking on these “Ramblas Béziers”, 650 m long, is like treading on the old moats of the Béziers ramparts, demolished in 1827. Their stones filled in the ditches, or were used to build the Haussmannian houses and hotels which line up on both sides. Shaded by plane trees, the Allées Paul Riquet, formerly Passejada (promenade in Occitan), has just been completely renovated. They are the meeting place for residents of Béziers in all seasons and particularly on Friday, the day of the flower market. About the famous statue of Paul Riquet: It has been enthroned in the middle of Les Allées since 1838. This bronze statue of the creator of the Canal du Midi (born in Béziers in 1609), financed by public subscription on the initiative of the Société Archéologique de Béziers, was sculpted by David d'Angers. He looks proud, looking west, towards Toulouse, where he rests (in St Etienne Cathedral). Pierre-Paul also dominates Place Jean-Jaurès, redeveloped in 2018. I am attaching some photos and videos. Please put a smiley, a bravo or a heart or other etc. under the review and the photos to encourage me in my approach. It's always nice to get nice feedback. Enjoy your visit to Béziers. Best regards. (Translated by Google) For us, Thursday is the day on which we have traditionally traveled to Béziers in the afternoon for many years. “Les jeudis de Béziers” between the Allées Paul Riquet are always an experience: the spacious square is lined with large trees. Winemakers in the region present their wines… local delicacies are offered at various food stands and there is live music. The weekly “wine festival” is heavily attended by locals. There is always an exuberant, happy atmosphere. For 5 euros you buy three vouchers and a wine glass, which you can then fill three times at the wine stands as you wish. It is a wonderful opportunity to get to know the different winemakers and their wines. At the end, the Allées Paul Riquet merge into Place Jean Jaurès, where imaginative, artistic installations can be admired every year - with stylish illumination in the evenings. Cemetery
Nestled to the north of Béziers, the Cimetière Vieux is a stunning 19th-century cemetery that showcases an array of opulent mausoleums, each telling tales of the area's historical wealth. This serene space is adorned with remarkable sculptural art, including notable pieces like Injalbert's family grave and an intriguing Masonic tomb. Visitors can enjoy leisurely strolls among grand burials in this peaceful haven, just a stone's throw from the bustling city center.
A curious old cemetery founded in 1812 and expanded in 1863. Most exquisite tombstones and mausoleums belong to prominent families of the city, most of whom used to be wine makers. The place is well maintained. One could find magnificent cypress trees all along the paths throughout the entire 4 hectares of the cemetery's area. Of course, there are cemetery cats who are a bit skittish, but you can take a few pictures, if you are lucky, before they run away.
Daniil T — Google review
Interesting cemetery which we discovered whilst walking 'off-piste'! Very elaborate tomb stones and family tombs. The cemetery is very well kept, tidy paths and tall pencil cypress trees abound. I was impressed with the watering can 'rental' system at the entrance to the cemetery. If these are average graves then it must be very expensive to die here!

Restaurant L’Ecluse Beziers offers a spacious seating area both indoors and outdoors, right by the canal. The menu features a variety of unusual and traditional dishes that are all delicious and fairly priced for their high quality. The tapas platter is recommended as a starter, and the desserts are equally impressive. The restaurant's location on the Canal du Midi makes it a romantic spot, perfect for enjoying a meal before flying out from Beziers airport.
We were recommended this restaurant by a friend as it was conveniently situated for the airport, we made our reservation online and although we were a little late due to traffic this was not a problem. We were seated outside in the canal-side terrace and were able to watch the boats waiting for the lock. The staff were professional, friendly and welcoming, they patiently explained the menu choices to us in a mix of French and English. We chose Monkfish, Tuna and a Noodle dish, all were well presented and delicious. We particularly liked watching the waitress using the baguette slicer 😀. We look forward to returning on our next trip to France.

Excellent way to spend a few hours outside, under the trees and exercise at the same time. Some of the trails are quite physical but there are some adapted to young children (3y), provided they accept to put the security outfit on and they understand how to use the life line. The staff is friendly and professional, although very busy, and always helpful in giving instruction and advice. I left around 4pm when it was getting quite busy (significant line up) and perhaps the limited staff would be overwhelmed at some point, especially if there is an issue, that's the only question mark

Pleasant summer evening setting in the square behind the cathedral. Attentive and pleasant service, although the server was taking care of all the tables so service was leisurely, but it's Friday evening in the South of France so who cares? The food was outstanding. Fresh and clean gazpacho with a tiny hint of spice. A generous entree serving of tuna tataki. A delicate cod gratin on black rice with grilled vegetables, delicious. All good. Then I returned for lunch the next day. A different person was waiting tables. I asked him if we could have one of the tables in the shade and he responded that no, we must sit in the sun because those empty tables were for customers who might arrive for bar service. So we left. Quelle dommage. Les Bon Ami next door gave us a nice table in the shade. :-)

Pica-Pica, located on Boulevard Jean Jaures in Beziers, France, is a tapas restaurant known for its stylish ambiance and a fusion of French and Spanish cuisine. Another notable dining spot in the area is Le Chameau Ivre, also offering tapas on La Place Jean Jaures.
Upscale dining spot off the Beziers promenade. Great wine list, but surprised only a single option for wine by the glass, and it was a mediocre choice. Cod fish and duck dishes were very good. The server was unable to explain the menu or wine choices well. He also forgot to bring cafe with the dessert. The creme brulee was refreshing, no egg, just Chantilly cream with a citron sorbet in the middle with a crispy sugar crust over the whole bowl, different.

At the recommendation of Chateau Raissac, we ventured into Beziers for dinner as a last minute decision. A reservation was necessary as it was very busy. A warm welcome set the tone for a great dining experience. Set in an older building that has been purpose built to accommodate a central kitchen, we were seated promptly, although we arrived early. Pre dinner drinks were cold and refreshing, and the food we chose did not disappoint. We shared the tuna and lamb dishes which were both tasty and generous in portion size. Topped off with churro for dessert, we enjoyed a great meal and experience as we matched the expert chefs go about their work. This was probably the best meal we have so far enjoyed over the last month in France.

From the moment we arrived at Pica -Pica we were warmly welcomed by a very attentive hostess, setting the tone for a wonderful dining experience. Our server, Mathieu, was exceptional knowledgeable in recommending the top cuisine from appetizers to main dish, he was friendly, and truly elevated our evening. We started with the house specialty hummus, which was beautifully plated and full of bold, fresh flavors. The goat cheese ravioli was delicate and rich, a perfect balance. For the main course, we chose the cod dish, which was an absolute standout. The presentation was artistic, and the flavors were nothing short of exquisite, each bite a delight to the palate. Whether you’re local or visiting Béziers, we highly recommend making a stop at Pica Pica. The service, atmosphere, and cuisine all come together to create an unforgettable dining experience.

Great craft beer quiet relaxed atmosphere to experience their beers Hospitality and knowledge by the staff was exceptional. Loved their dark beer and the blonde was a close second. Barman spoke good English which was a plus for a kiwi man

Brewery and taproom close to the rail station, open longer hours than is usual in this region too. Lots of beers to buy in bottle, some on tap, relaxed and easy going atmosphere. Beers were okay without being great, but nothing wrong with them I just prefer more full on craft stuff!

Really cool brewery with very knowledgeable and friendly staff . No pressure and you can see the brewery on the back . Really nice seats and tables . Loads of drinks and gifts to buy . We just tried the fresh beer and was really good . Well recommend a visit to anyone . Try the salami with beer . The price really good to .

We like to visit microbreweries and taste their beers. What scgreat find this was. Relaxed tap room , great selection of beer and spirits for sale. I brew beer, I've tasted beer all over Europe. The blonde is great big floral mouthful, the Ambre has a depth of flavour , The IPA is very tasty but the big winner is the Stout. This would likely be classed as a imperial porter if stronger % , but a big intense liquorice flavour with hints of catmramel and chocolate, buest tasted in small glasses. Fantastic.

Perhaps not as many people go for beer tastings as they do for wine around here but I just think that means they are missing a trick. On the edge of Béziers, down by the canal, this establishment has enough charm and interest to make it appealing, but it doesn't quite deliver. The draft beer options were limited (could have just been the day we went 🤔) and there were a lack of tasting glasses - we were a group of just 4 (the only group in there) doing a 5/6 beer tasting and there were only 12 glasses available! The beer is of a good quality and tasty enough, but it didn't quite beat adequate for me.

Quirky place on the outskirts of town. Really nice welcome. Gorgeous beers. We tried 4 between us. Husband loved his stout. Said it was the best beer he had tasted for a long time. I loved the IPA. Thank you guys and thank you to the cat for allowing us to bring the dog in.

The Fontaine musicale de Béziers is a captivating attraction located in the city center, surrounded by a wooded park. Visitors can enjoy a mesmerizing display of dancing water jets set to groovy music, creating a beautiful spectacle that lasts for about 30 minutes starting at 10 pm. The space is beautifully prepared with plenty of shady trees and various water features, making it an ideal place to beat the heat and let children play.

Musical and illuminated, this fountain comes to life in the evening to offer an unforgettable spectacle. To protect this unique fountain, it is forbidden to cross or touch the jets, which react to very precise settings. And because there are no prohibition signs anywhere, many children prefer it to cool off in the summer heat. (Original) Напълно реновиран през 2018 г., площад Жан Жорес има необичаен фонтан в центъра си. Музикален и светещ, този фонтан оживява вечер, за да предложи незабравимо зрелище. It looks pretty, but watch out because the guards here will stop you from sitting down, and they stop children from getting anywhere near the fountain even during a heatwave. It totally ruins the experience.

(Translated by Google) We were there during the day, so unfortunately, we didn't get to see the full evening splendor. We found the horoscope idea particularly original: There are 12 large metal swings with lights, each dedicated to a zodiac sign. The fountains themselves are beautiful, everything is incredibly clean and well-maintained, with lots of greenery and trees all around – even during the day, you can easily find shade. I can easily imagine how impressive the whole thing would look at night, with all the lights, colors, and garlands. The bottom line: 5 out of 5 stars. Beer District Béziers is a vibrant bar that draws in a younger crowd with its array of arcade games, air hockey, and dart boards. The establishment boasts an extensive selection of over 16 draft beers and 50 bottled beers from around the globe. Visitors can enjoy a friendly atmosphere, well-informed staff, and a rotating beer menu. The bar also offers small tapas dishes and screens showing sports events.
Great for beer lovers! A place hidden away in a courtyard behind other buildings, with inside seating and seats in the courtyard too. It has a bit of a sports bar feel, but great beer too, with ten beers of all kinds on tap (some very strong at over 10% alcohol), plus more in bottles and cans. We had the Flight of Beers, four 1/4 pint (12 ml) glasses of four beers of your choice from the ones on tap for 10 Euro. All were good.

Nice selection of craft beers available which change as availability changes. You can opt for 250ml or 500ml glasses or a tasting 'stick' of four different 120ml glasses of your choice from the menu. Beers were excellent, good atmosphere in the pub with a retro games room. Worth a visit.
Where A — Google review
I've been going to Beer District since literally the first day it opened, and suddenly I was not allowed to visit last weekend because I had my little, well behaved dog with us. The barman just shrugged, and clearly management don't care about suddenly refusing entry to loyal customers who have been going there for years. It's really sad to see a place like this go downhill so quickly, but I obviously won't be leaving my dog behind just to go to a bar. ----------- Response to owner's response: Hello and thank you for your reply. We came in and were told by the security person that we cannot come in with a dog. We then asked the barman (who knows us) and he agreed we cannot come in. So there was no miscommunication - two people told us to leave. Dog owners understand what environment their dogs can handle, and they will leave if their dogs might get uncomfortable. There does not need to be a rule set by management "just in case" dogs become uncomfortable. Unfortunately, unless your rules change back to allow dogs at all times, and for owners to make a suitable decision for their own dogs, we cannot come back. We want to be treated with equality. If you do change your policy and trust all dog owners, we would like to come back.

We had a fantastic experience visiting as a family one afternoon in early June. We got to sample 8 wines and our hosts were highly entertaining. Their lust for life and care for what they do was clear at every moment. Highly recommend but make sure you book in advance. We walked away with plenty of wine after. Their Syrah in particular is top notch.

Visited this family owned and run winery by mistaking it for another, but its the best mistake I've ever made. The wines were the best I've tasted in the country. We enjoyed all six of the wines we tasted, and we're also treated to a guest appearance by the two family dogs. The hosts were very welcoming despite it being a very hot day, and spoke very good English. At the end of the tasting, we bought some of their wines, and they threw in an extra one in for free, and sent us away with an additional 2 that they had opened from the tasting along with 4 little plastic wine cups. An excellent, intimate experience

Do not listen to the recent negative review. It is absolute bull and not what it is like at all. I emailed before turning up as their website states the times they are open and it is best to secure availability. I got a quick response and we visited the next day. The family is absolutely lovely, such welcoming people. We were greeted by the owners daughter, Katya, who is extremely friendly, made us feel relaxed and welcome and made the experience very personal. Her English is great and had no trouble talking us through each wine. We were there for longer than expected having a wonderful time with her and one of the owners Viera. The wines are incredible especially the white, it's like something I've never tasted. If we had a car and didn't have to worry about luggage I would have bought a few crates! I would recommend this place to anybody who is a fan of wine and having a relaxing time. Thank you Katya and family, we will hopefully be back!

We drove for 2 hours to get to this vineyard because, as you can tell, ratings are outstanding. When we finally arrived during opening hours, no one was there to greet us. Everything seemed shut down. So we waited for 10 more minutes when a car came up the driveway. We felt excited to be welcomed and learn a bit more about the different types of wine. Sadly a lady, who happened to be very annoyed, asked us what we wanted, what we were doing there in a very unpleasant, even rude, manner. She wasn't keen at all on attending us. So, we left. Without wines, without anything. Thanks for nothing. A complete disgrace.

Great trip on the Canal du Midi with the bridge, tunnel and locks. And a very good lunch on board.

This was not an enjoyable experience at all, when booking we made sure that there was an English option and it is advertised there was a written one which was fair enough, when we asked we were given a print out of the places and then had to figure it out for ourselves as the book was not put together very well, I would say the book wasn't even in the same order as the tour. There was hard plastic chairs on the top deck all crowded together and then we had the pleasure of all being packed in like sardines underneath to eat lunch for far too long. All you do is a long lunch while the boat is docked and about an hour actually seeing the sights, possibly one of the worst experiences I ever done, miserable long day keep your money and do something else plenty of better experiences in the area.

(Translated by Google) This day trip was truly relaxing outdoors on the deck of the barge (the weather was beautiful) surrounded by flora and fauna. The history and explanations about Pierre Paul Riquet and the Canal du Midi and its outskirts were very interesting (the recording wasn't always very audible, which was a shame). The crew was very pleasant, attentive, and caring. The breakfast (croissant and coffee) was perfect. The fruit juice in the morning was welcome. Lunch on the barge was perfect. Perhaps a little noisy (the lack of respect for the participants, the louder I spoke, the more I turned up the volume...). In conclusion, this trip is worth the detour. However, we found the return trip a bit long. Perhaps a half-day trip, morning with lunch or lunch with afternoon would be sufficient.

Tunnel du Malpas is an intriguing historical site located in the vicinity of Oppidum d'Enserune. Visitors can make use of the well-equipped tourist center and explore the surrounding areas, including Oppidum d'Enserune and Montady pond.
It's free, easy to park. And I did like a short walk.

Very nice photo stop if you're in the area. I don't think it's worth driving a long way for. Child friendly, just make sure they won't jump/fall in the water because there is just an old metal railing, that's it. No bats, but there are birds flying through the tunnel.

Another part of the Canal de Midi story. Great that you can walk through the tunnel. There is a rail tunnel a bit further down the road that passes under the canal tunnel if you a train spotter.
Ferdie S — Google review
Absolutely free and completely accessible to the public. You can walk along the Canal du Midi (more tranquil and shadier on the east side) and through the world's first-ever navigable canal tunnel along a narrow path with a barrier alongside. (Just know that you'll get a noseful of smelly diesel fumes if a boat passes through just then.) Zero wheelchair accessibility to the tunnel itself unless you take a boat tour from Fonseranes, for example.

Pont-Canal de l'Orb is a remarkable bridge in Beziers, Languedoc, France. It carries the Canal du Midi over the Orb and stands at 28 meters wide and 12 meters tall, making it the longest on the canal at 240 meters. The aqueduct's impressive architecture leaves visitors in awe. There are beautiful walks to enjoy nearby, such as towards the 9 locks or the old bridge, both offering rich historical experiences.
Wonderful piece of Civil Engineering which carries a canal over L'Orb River. Extremely picturesque and paths either side of the canal allow pedestrian traffic to traverse the river and experience the aqueduct in action with canal traffic being quite frequent. Treat yourself to a pleasant walk along the canal and take in this Engineering gem.

Complete rip off! We hired a car from here in August for two weeks. We didn’t use it very much as everything in Agde is within walking distance, in 2 weeks we used 8 Euros of fuel! We dropped the car off and put the keys in the key drop as requested. A week after we returned the credit card was charged 1500 Euros. I phoned the desk at the airport and they said there had been a large dent in the back of it, which there was not.

Rented a car July 23rd from thrifty @ Beziers airport and paid collision damage deposit of EUR1000 by credit card. Was told that it would be refunded to my card within a few days of returning the car. 3 weeks after returning the deposit had not been paid back. Had to call the hire desk to be told "ah sometimes head office pays back by cheque".A few days later cheque arrives by post. Now I have to wait a few weeks to get the cheque cleared and also have to pay a EUR20 processing fee charge

We did a two-hour expedition on river Orb and had a such a wonderful time! The staff were so friendly and helpful from the very first point of contact we had with them on the phone when we booked the kayaks for us. My husband has problems with his knees and back, and he was a bit worried about how he would get in and out of a kayak, and how the paddling would go. The staff came up straight away with possible solutions in order to create the best possible experience to my husband, too. I recommend Smile Kayak to anyone who wants to discover the Béziers town from a different perspective and enjoy what the beautiful nature has to offer. We managed to see herons, falcons and even a kingfisher during our expedition. This paddling tour is definitely one of the highlights of our holiday. If we go back to Béziers region one day, we will definitely book another tour with Smile Kayak. Merci encore!

Warm and friendly staff. Great family adventure kayaking up the river, a couple tricky parts where the river was low so wear saddles in case you need to get out and pull the kayak a little.

Great experience of freedom on the river. Down the Jardins de la Plantade you can float/row/pedal on the quiet and lively river Orb with stunning views of the city above and the wilderness further upriver. Warm welcome by young managers, very affordable, easy and fun with kids and older people. And it's not crowded! Better to reserve if you're a group but you can also come on the spur of the moment. I take friends there when I get a chance, and they're always delighted by the relaxed beauty of the place. Cherry on the cake, the adjoining bar restaurant La Laiterie for drinks and a simple dish afterwards, chilling out on the bank in front of the glittering water. Not to be missed in Béziers.

The cycling path between Beziers and Capestang provides varying surfaces, making it more suitable for leisurely rides than for serious cyclists. A boat ride through the initial part of the locks is interesting, although the subsequent journey may seem slow and monotonous. The canal's beauty is best appreciated on a scenic route from Toulouse to Beziers, offering a peaceful landscape perfect for leisurely walks.
I have lived in the canal for 2 years. It’s so beautiful and peaceful

(Translated by Google) Very beautiful canal, we cycled the stretch between Beziers and Capestang. Cycle path varies in surface. I think it is not suitable for cyclists. (Original) Zeer mooi kanaal, we hebben het stukje gefietst tussen Beziers en Capestang. Fietspad is wisselend van ondergrond. Ik denk dat het niet geschikt is voor wielrenners.

(Translated by Google) It's worth a tour. It's an impressive feat of engineering, yet it blends beautifully into its natural surroundings. It was very important for trade, and now it's mostly used for various tours, but also as a recreational area for residents who have their own boats. (Original) Vale la pena farci un tour. È un'imponente opera ingegneristica ma inserita bene nel contesto naturale. Historical landmark
Place de la Révolution is home to the Beaux-Arts museum, which showcases a remarkable collection of 17th to 19th-century paintings and hosts an exhibition dedicated to Jean Moulin, a hero of the Resistance born in Beziers. Additionally, visitors can explore another branch of this museum on Rue Capus, focusing on the renowned sculptor Jean-Antonie Injalbert, who hails from Beziers.
Great place
Naveed R — Google review
Historic and quiet place nowadays. But in 1851, Béziers was one of the only towns to revolt against the coup d'état of Prince-President Louis-Napoléon Bonaparte. On December 4, Casimir Péret, former mayor of the town, led a crowd of about 6,000 people who gathered in front of the cathedral in this Place de la Révolution. The army fired, killing 70 people and wounding many others. All men suspected of having participated in the demonstration were arrested and deported to Guyana or Algeria. Casimir Péret was sent to the penal colony of Cayenne where he died during an escape attempt in 1855.[58] In 1884, a memorial monument was erected at the site of the event.[59],[60]

(Translated by Google) I enjoyed walking around and visiting the Place de la Révolution in F-34 Beziers. I also recommend this walk by learning about its history before the visit... Revolution yes, but not that of 1789. Its name refers to the conservative coup d'état of Louis-Napoléon Bonaparte (Napoléon III), carried out in 1852. The Biterrois, fiercely republican, rose up. It ended badly for them: this is what the monument stuck to the surrounding wall of the episcopal palace commemorates. We see the Republic, a beautiful lady with a broken sword, sculpted by Injalbert. But this square is today one of the most pleasant in Béziers, with the apse of the cathedral in focus, its gurgling fountain (exiting the cloister of the cathedral) and its rustling plane trees, its majestic and colorful facades. I am attaching some photos and videos. Please put a smiley, a bravo or a heart or other etc. under the review and the photos to encourage me in my approach. It's always nice to get nice feedback. Enjoy your visit to Béziers. Best regards. Éric Tison F-57 Féy (Metz. Moselle. France). Best regards. Éric Tison F-57 Féy (Metz. Moselle. France).

Between the shady plane trees and the view of the cathedral's apse, it's an ideal place to stroll or simply sit and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of the city center.
